They’re Not Dating- Sebastian Stan xreader fan fic

Summary: Sebastian and reader are best friends & they are working on a movie and during a lunch break a co Star finds them napping together and something unexpected happens with Seb and reader

Warnings: none really, just angst and fluff with soft Sebastian

(Sebastian’s POV)

“I felt a warm feeling against my body which made me smile but then I heard laughter which then I frowned.”

I woke up and heard my co Star Anthony Mackie laughing & say “hey sleepyhead I see you two lovebirds got cozy, hey Chris! Come over here.” I rolled my eyes and said “oh hey Mackie.” I saw my other co Star Chris evans walk over and he smiled and said “aww you two are cute Sebastian.” He took a picture of us and I said “shhh guys come on don’t wake up Y/N ok? We were tired and needed a nap and we’re not dating by the way before you ask.” Chris and Anthony laughed and Antony said “yea right Sebastian come on you two are cuddled up against each other I’m pretty sure you guys are dating plus you two are always flirting.”

The two guys left thankfully and she’s still asleep oh she looks so cute like this. I guess I never thought about it, I got my phone out to see if I had any messages and I saw notifications about rumors about Y/N and I being a couple from different sites and I kinda do have a crush on her but never did anything. Oh she’s waking up! I smiled at her and said “hey doll how was your nap you doing ok?” I rubbed her back and she got nervous and said “oh!.. was I sleeping on your chest? I’m- I’m sorry Sebastian, I hope I didn’t make you feel uncomfortable?..” I shook my head and said “hey hey no not at all it’s ok Y/N don’t you worry ok? I didn’t mind it and in fact I liked having you close to me if I can be honest hon.?”

————— Y/N’s POV———

I honestly don’t remember how I ended up laying on Sebastian’s chest because all I remember is that we were both sleepy and we were gonna take a nap and I kinda thought I heard someone talking but I might have dreamed that. Then when I woke up suddenly I found myself laying on my best friend’s chest. Goodness I’m blushing and he’s giving me that adorable smile of his. Sebastian noticed I hadn’t said anything in a minute or two and rubbed my arm and said “Y/N hey you ok? You know I’m not upset right? It’s ok sweetheart you don’t have to move away come here.” I smiled at him feeling shy and I thought for a minute what to say and I said “hey Seb.. did someone come in the room at any point because I thought I heard someone talking earlier but maybe I dreamed that.”

Sebastian put his arm around me and started to play with my hair a bit and said “oh, yea actually while you were asleep Chris and Anthony came in and saw us napping together and teased me and Chris took a picture of us and said “oh how sweet! I’m sending this to our group chat.” “I told them to leave us be don’t worry.” I felt embarrassed but I knew Seb would protect me if anything happened. He saw me hide my face in my hands and said “oh doll face hey it’s ok Y/N don’t hide your face it’s nothing to be embarrassed about, can I see those pretty eyes of yours?” At first I shook my head no but he uncovered my face and smiled at me and said “there she is hi you, can I ask you something?” I started to panic a bit but said “yea, sure..” Sebastian breathed for a minute and said “ok so, do you like me doll? Because I really like you and seeing you cuddled up by me laying on my chest made me realize it more and when we were filming and I played your boyfriend I realized I was in love with you but I wasn’t sure how you felt.”

I was taken by surprise but then I thought about all the moments we had hanging out and the movie we’re doing and how I always want him close to me and our late night phone calls and I smiled and said “ok truth is Sebastian yea I’m in love with you.. I thought about all the moments we’ve shared and how you always take care of me and our laughs together and our phone conversations, I don’t wanna be without you. I hope I’m not being too forward here.” Seb smiled and cupped my face in his hands and said “doll face I had been feeling the same way there’s no one else I’d rather spend my time with and personally I loved having you cuddled up next to me. So to do this right, will oh well before I start I just saw on my phone that there were a bunch of rumor articles about us possibly dating and I saw a really cute selfie of us and right away seeing your sweet smile it makes my days brighter Y/N, we’ve known each other for years and I think we’d make a cute couple, what do you think?” I nodded and I was smiling so much from falling more in love with this sweet wonderful guy who’s been my crush for five years. I laid my head on his chest and said “I love you Sebastian Stan.” Sebastian lifted my chin up with his thumb and leaned to kiss me and said “I love you too Y/N L/N I adore my pretty girl so much you have no idea.” I couldn’t believe this happened after so many times of us denying the rumors of us dating and now it’s true.

// so today was supposed to be the day I would meet Elizabeth Olsen and Joseph Quinn but sadly it was not meant to be. But it wasn’t all bad - I got to meet Anthony Mackie, Antony Starr and Clark Gregg instead 💛 Anthony was so sweet and hilarious, he made my day. I didn’t get to talk too much to Clark but he was really nice. Antony was awesome. Definitely one of the best con days I’ve had

Hey 🧡 Thank you for the love, I have fun making them! Lowkey bummed my posts aren’t posting to tags anymore but alas. With the recent "what ships piss you off + what ships do you love" trend going around Twitter, I was just thinking about mine the other day and realized most of them have some sort of angst to them 😅 Outside of NAMOR X SHURI, here are some of my other fave ships over the years [in no particular order] Let’s get into it *cracks knuckles*

A. SAM X BUCKY: "Can you move your seat up?" "No."

I have to say that this ^ line reeled me in but what sealed my fate was the offscreen friendship between Antony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. Those damn compilation vids on yt killed me; they are too funny together. I genuinely feel like they aren't even acting when they work together. You can see their friendship shine through, and I think that's why Marvel realized they needed to do something with this goldmine. In regards of the characters Sam and Bucky tho, I enjoy both a romantic or platonic love between them. There's a strong connection there either way full of support, transparency, shared pain etc and these two losers have my heart. Also, I will never get over that scene in Endgame when Steve speaks with Sam and before accepting the shield, Sam looks over at Bucky and Bucky nods in support *ugly cries*

Show: The Falcon & The Winter Soldier

B. FLEABAG X PRIEST: "I love you." "It will pass."

This ship is definitely one of those ships that devastated me 🥴 Their awkward and yet endearing connection was everything. Fleabag’s dry humor and wit just jelled so well with the Priest in such an unassuming and comforting way. She truly found her match, which made the whole thing that much more tragic. The parts where he broke the fourth wall with the audience and questioned who she was talking to took me out lmao. I was heartbroken with how the show ended but in the midst of everything, it felt fitting. I don’t think they should have done it any different. I also find it funny that we never learn Fleabag or the Priest’s actual names.

Show: Fleabag

C. INUYASHA X KAGOME: "Sit boy!"

These two are one of my first ships when I was young so the nostalgia hits hard with them. As an adult looking back tho, Inuyasha and Kagome’s relationship pissed me off the majority of the show rofl. His back and forth with Kikyo was SO unnecessary. They were so aggravating at times that at one point it was a toss up between Inuyasha and Koga for me. Koga was looking like the better man for Kagome. He meant business and knew where his priorities were. But in the midst of it all, Inuyasha and Kagome’s bond just did something for me. I remember younger me freaking out every time Inuyasha lost his shit and went full demon mode when Kagome was in any eminent danger. I was like “that’s love right there” lmao smh. Also the fact that they kissed like one time [twice??] during the entire show was so *screams into void*

Show: Inuyasha

D. LO'AK X TSIREYA: "Outcast - that's all they see!" "I see you."

Shout out to my fellow Avatar fans out there ✌🏾 I remember when the first movie came out, I freaked out and wanted a banshee SO BAD bruh lol. With the second installment and it’s new batch of dope characters, there’s so much to talk about [especially with these two]. They are basically a mirror of Jake × Neytiri, but in a different font? I love how attentive Tsireya is with Lo’ak and how much she looks out for him and his siblings. She was the first person to truly embrace and see him for him. Their love lanquage is clearly physical contact and it's too adorable. I look forward to seeing how their dynamic/ relationship evolves over future films to come. My blue babes 💙

Movie: Avatar - The Way of Water

E. STEVEN / MARC X LAYLA: "I don't need protection. What I need is honesty."

First of all, this show was sick on so many levels! You’re telling me we got to have a Guatemalan-American actor and Egyptian-Palestinian actress play mcu characters in a show revolving around Egyptian gods and legends sprinkling in themes of mental health and family?? To say I can’t wait for the second season is an understatement, but I digress. I loved Oscar and May together on screen. It was funny seeing Steven and Marc go back and forth over their dynamic with Layla and then Layla grappling with the multifaceted differences of the man [men?] she loved. I enjoyed all of the action sequences but I hope we get to see more of their complicated relationship explored in the future. It’s just so fascinating to me. I will never get over Steven kissing Layla for the first time and Marc absolutely losing it lmao.

Show: Moon Knight

F. AMY X DANNY: "Why is it so hard for us to be happy?"

Now before y’all hop on my dick for posting about this show [in the midst of recent controversy w/ David Choe, which f*ck that guy btw🖕🏾] I watched this BEFORE Choe’s shit came to light. I can’t tell you what to do. You have to personally make that judgment call of whether or not you want to support/watch the show yourself. Anywho *fixes clothes* This show is insane. It's hilarious, tragic, relatable, the whole nines. There’s so much to it but these two specifically take the cake for me. Amy and Danny's relationship take a minute to come into fruition but by the time I got to the end, I was hooked. I also just need Ali and Steven to do another project together because their a quirky pair, but their a pair I didn't know I needed until now. It was beautiful to see how despite all of their strife, Amy and Danny truly saw one another’s souls. They were reflections of one another. That entire tripping sequence in the desert the last ep was funny af but beyond deep.

Show: Beef

G. DRUIG X MAKKARI: "My beautiful, beautiful Makkari. Did you miss me?"

I'm going to be real with y’all, Druig and Makkari were the one good thing that came out of Eternals for me [aside from Kingo and Phastos' roles]. I don’t know what it was but I couldn't get into the movie for some reason and what threw me was the fact that I thought I would. They only had like 2 seconds on screen but they were the only thing I could think of walking out that theater. I swear I couldn't get over their charming dynamic. That scene where Makarri thought Druig was killed and starts going ape shit on Ikarus was peak cinema. No one harms her man! It was also such a dope moment to learn later on that the actress who plays Makarri, Lauren Ridloff, is deaf in real life. I bow down to that Queen. These two characters are just *chefs kiss* and I really hope Marvel doesn't mess up a good thing and we get to see their relationship blossom over time in a beautiful way. This Druig ^ line KILLED me. Me and who when?

Movie: Eternals

H. ZUKO X KATARA: "You rise with the moon. I rise with the sun."

Yes Aang x Katara are cute but Zutara? ZUTARA?? *violently bangs credit card on table* It was full of angst, grief, healing, sexual tension, the list goes on. They could relate to one another’s pain with losing a parent and so on. Zuko helping her find and confront her mother’s killer was everything too. Of course she had every right to be pissed at him and the fire nation but it was nice seeing Zuko work to gain Katara’s trust over time. He caused so much pain and damage to the avatar crew so for him to come back and try and rectify things was monumental. This is also one of those shows growing up that had me in a chokehold. I couldn’t decide what element I wanted to bend because all benders were so badass to me [my girl Toph was the mvp tho. Hands down the coolest].

Show: Avatar - The Last Airbender

I. RAGNAR X LAGERTHA: "We shall meet again and fight, and drink, and love one another."

Where are my fellow Viking fans? ⚔️ This show was INCREDIBLE and their love story specifically was so layered and complicated. Lagertha was the epitome of loyal but I love that outside of her dynamic with Ragnar, she was just such a dope character overall. She really held her own and took no shit from anyone, man or woman. Her hands were rated E for everyone. Their love had its huge ups and downs but you could tell after everything, there was still a deep affection there. They would do anything for one another and that was apparent every step of the way. Even after Ragnar’s death, Lagertha still kept the love she held for him in her heart. His dynamic with each character on the show was intriguing but nothing beats their powerful connection. She was one of the few people who got to see all of the real and raw sides of him and that was beautiful. The show was never the same once Ragnar’s character died [which I still don’t understand this monumental writing decision??] but it was amazing nonetheless.

Show: Vikings

J. LOUIS X LESTAT: "I wanted to forget him, and yet it seemed I thought of him always."

I didn’t watch the first iteration of this novel so I was completely new going into the show. I heard about it way after it came out but it did not disappoint. It lived up to the hype 100%. Louis, Lestat and Claudia were such a disastrous trio but I loved the little family they created [before things went south rofl]. Louis and Lestat’s story was intriguing and I was engaged from start to finish. I swear that moment when the reporter Daniel put two and two together that Louis gave Lestat an out, I yelled at my screen lol. Their love was intense to say the least and although certain moments were hard to watch, these two were electric. With that, it was so suspenseful watching Louis and Claudia ban together towards the end and scheme against Lestat to gain their freedom. The whole thing was just so *sighs* *refrains from writing a novel*

Show: Interview with the Vampire

K. BRAEDEN X DEREK: "I’m protecting my investment."

I know a lot of people shipped him and Stiles together [I mostly enjoyed their entertaining dynamic in a platonic way] but Derek and Braeden did something for me. They fought bad guys while being domestic together and younger me ate that shit up lol. Also seeing a black woman be in a type of role and show like this was also 1000/10. More black women in fantastical roles please 🙏🏾 I feel like this was the first healthy romantic relationship Derek was in too and it just had good vibes all around. He truly learned to trust a lover again. The beginning of their relationship was also hot af and that initial “anything you can do, I can do better” cat and mouse back and forth was *chefs kiss* That scene where she was teaching him how to use a gun >>>>> The reboot of Teen Wolf was not my cup of tea + I was bummed we didn’t get to see future Draeden [or their future kids??] but alas. We always have S3-S5 to look back on.

Show: Teen Wolf

L. WOO X JUN-HO: "What if you think of it as dancing the waltz?"

They are for sure one of my favorite ships. Woo and Jun-Ho need to be protected at all costs 🫶🏾 I don’t even know where to start with these two or this show. If you haven’t watched it yet, please go watch it. It’s on my top kdrama list for sure. Being close to people in my life with Autism, it was heartwarming to see how Jun-ho treated Woo. He treated her like a human being. He was loving, empathetic, patient, kind. All of the ways you should be with others in general, no matter how different or similar they are to you. It was fascinating seeing how the show tackled the subject of relationships that involve differing mental conditions and capabilities. The show was such a slow burn with them that when they had their first kiss I LOST it. I was giggling, screaming and kicking my feet in real time lmao. I’m conflicted bc I want to see a S2 but I also want it to stay the way it is. I don’t know how they would continue everyone’s story but if they resume it, I will be SAT.

Show: Extraordinary Attorney Woo

Chapter 8- us

You’ve got a part in the new captain America film, during filming the directors have asked the lead actors to live together to build chemistry. What you didn’t expect was to find yourself in a relationship with Sebastian Stan, you thought everything was going well till one date night Sebastian breaks up with you.

A/N: here we are second to last chapter, what a journey this has been. Here’s your more happier chapter. I also had to cut off some of the chosen song quote as I didn’t want to spoil the ending of the chapter. Apologises for all spelling and grammatical mistakes as I’m super dyslexic, enjoy

Can we make this better? Cause I’m losing hope. Tell me how to be in this world, tell me how to breathe in and feel no hurt.

The months following the wrap party was the calm you needed. Filming was over so you were no longer confined within the prison that house became within the last three weeks of living there. Stepping foot into your new apartment felt amazing, your shoulders felt lighter no longer carrying the weight of your crushing heartache, like you could finally breathe again.

You and Jamie both agreed to share a two bedroom apartment in LA, realistically as two new up and coming actors you can’t yet afford your own place. Plus you and Jamie were inseparable it just made sense.

“Mmm this couch is amazing, it’s the nicest one I’ve ever sat on. Jamie you’re a couch god” you sighed feeling all the built up stress in your muscles melt away. “I’m never leaving this couch” “I don’t remember inviting Antony Mackie as my roommate” Jamie joked rolling his eyes in your direction. “Now help me unpack these groceries”.

Life was a lot more simpler, easier when it was just you and Jamie. You both cooked for each other or went to the same cheap bar every Friday night which would result in you both drinking an ungodly amount of caffeine to aid your roaring hangovers, or both sitting on the couch after a long day rewatching friends or the office something light hearted and something comforting.

It was days like these that made it more bearable. Sure it was torturous in the beginning especially as the moments after the kiss at the wrap party.

“Honey what’s wrong?” His face contorted in confusion the way it once did on that night Sebastian broke up with you. Shock flooded all your senses it held your response captive in your throat unable to escape. “Y/N please answer me” he pleaded grabbing your shoulder in order to make you speak. “Is she okay?” Amy questioned in concern seeing all the colour draining from your face. “H-he kissed me” you stuttered still in the full throws of shock. “I’m going to kill him!” “Jamie I know you want his head on a spike and trust me I do too, I want nothing more than to kill him. But right now we need to make sure our friend is okay, now Y/N what happened?”

You choked out what just happened, body shaking in disbelief. “I don’t want to hurt Daisy she’s innocent in this” Both Jamie and Amy enclosed you in a hug “Honey, Daisy won’t think that you’re in the wrong, he was the one who kissed you. He was the one in the relationship, he’s to blame not you” comforted Jamie holding you close. “So another round?” Amy suggested

Now it felt easier to cope with the pain, you still yearn for him. You know that you’ll always love him but you now know that it’s time for you to move on.

Both you and Jamie sat opposite each other at the table finishing up your food, Chinese takeout as you were both too hungover from the night before to cook anything . “I’ve never tried orange chicken before coming into this country but now I’m obsessed” Jamie moaned lifting his chopsticks to his lips. You hummed in agreement chewing on your egg roll. Both of your phones buzzed in unison, you both stared at each other eyebrows raised In confusion, why did someone message you both at the same time?

You looked over at your phone, the Instagram alert said: Anthony Mackie’s birthday sushi

You checked the chat in anticipation to see his name. Relief flooded over you seeing that it was only you, Jamie and Mackie in the chat.

“Are you two coming it’s this Saturday?” “Count me in” “I suppose I can make it if I don’t have anything better to do” “Wow thanks Jamie, I feel so loved” “He’s kidding we’ll both be there”

“I’m glad that he didn’t invite Sebastian” You sighed in relief, placing your phone down on the table. “Same, they definitely have some plans considering he’s Mackie’s best friend”

You both walked towards the restaurant, with a big smile plastered on your face as you liked Mackie and your glad that he hasn’t stopped your friendship due to Sebastian’s mistakes. It was 2pm you were hungry for sushi but also to catch up with Mackie as it’s been six months since filming ended.

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me” Jamie growled, you could feel the steam of his anger radiating from his skin.

You entered the restaurant and that was where your heart dropped, you felt sick you needed a way to escape.

There he was laughing with Mackie across from him in the booth.

Jamie darted towards the booth, “Anthony, what the fuck!” Jamie spat. “Alright calm down, I know you’re both angry-“ “That would be an understatement” you sarcastically stated “I just want to speak to you, can I speak to you please?” Sebastian begged “I owe you an explanation”

You’ve never seen Sebastian grovel or this close to tears, the empath in you came into the drivers seat and you nervously nodded.

Jamie clutched your arm close to him, “You don’t have to do this you know? We can run out of here” “I have to speak to him at interviews and during press night, I might as well rip the band aid off now and get this over with”

“ Jamie could you join me outside?” Anthony asked getting up from the booth. Jamie said nothing but gave Sebastian another one of his death stares and walked towards the door.

“How have you been?” He asked voice shaking with nerves. “Seb just get on with it, I have no business in being your friend, we’re past that ever since you kissed me behind your girlfriend’s back” He gulped, his eyes looked away from yours, “Me and Daisy broke up” he sighed rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m sorry” “Don’t be, I broke up with her” You clenched your jaw and rolled your eyes at his pattern of breaking hearts. “I did it because of you”

That stopped you dead in your tracks, like a deer in headlights your eyes grew wide. “What?” You stuttered in disbelief, then anger grew through your voice, “don’t blame me for your break up when it’s your fault!”

He sighed, “Y/N, I broke up with you as I stupidly thought that the press and media were going to tear into me and into our relationship because of our age gap. I’ll be known as a disgusting creep who only goes after younger girls, when in reality I only date people who I can genuinely see a future with. I let my own ego and pride take priority over our relationship and I’m sorry”

You tilted your head and scrunch your face in annoyance. “ I don’t see why I have to do with your relationship being over?, that’s not an excuse for breaking my heart!”

“My PA said that I should start dating someone and suggested Daisy as she’s nearer my age and has a reputable name in the modelling world, I allowed my PA to get into my head. She said for the sake of my career I shouldn’t chase after someone who’s ten years younger. I was selfish and only thinking of myself and not how badly you would hurt. I still love you Y/N, so at the party I saw you walking away from me and I couldn’t bare it, I couldn’t live in a world without you there. Yes I was in a relationship, I was selfish and I hurt two people but I just wanted you. After that night I broke up with Daisy”

“Does she know about us?” He nodded, his eyes glanced at the table tears forming at his eyes.

You gulped loudly, feeling panic rising over you, the last thing you wanted was for Daisy to be hurt. You anxiety chipped into your brain telling you that Daisy blames you for this and it’s all your fault.

“I know you hate me Y/N” his voice trembling with the pain of his emotions, “but please give me another chance, I know I don’t deserve it. But I can’t live without you. If you say no I’ll let you go but please know that I’ll always love you”

Tears prick at your own eyes, he’s saying everything you’ve wanted to hear for months and that this is your happy ending, but your logic raged at you for the shitty way he’s treated you as he deserves to suffer the way you did. “One date Seb, to see if this will work again. And I mean that we need to take this slow, start again, clean slate. We’ll have dinner to see if we can reconnect, no kissing, sex or touching me till I know for certain I’ve made the right choice” you stated, proud of yourself for standing your ground but also hoping that your gut feeling is the best decision. As now you didn’t know if this was truly the best outcome.

The smile returned to his face, his eyes still glassy. “Thank you”

Anthony and Jamie felt like it has been long enough for you two to have the conversation needed, but also slightly concerned that you didn’t kill Sebastian. God knows he deserves it but since the premier is in two months you both needed to be alive. So they both walked in to the restaurant and nervously walking towards the booth.

Jamie sat next to you and Anthony next to Sebastian.

“So what happened?” Anthony asked, half of him hoping the talk went well as he didn’t want this mess to happen on his birthday.

“I’ve decided to give Sebastian another chance, it’s just for one date to see if I’ve made the right choice” you voiced, still uncertain if this was the right call.

“Fucking hurt her like that again and I’ll gut you alive” Jamie spat, Sebastian’s eyes grew wide as he nodded in fear.

“Great memo received” Jamie smiled back at him.
