Okay, so @feralmoonlight 's recent cowboy au art gave me serious brain worms. But I got enough on my plate, so Imma just toss these ideas out cuz I do not currently have the confidence nor the familiarity of the western genre to write any fanfic around it.
So my idea is that it is set in cowboy AU, you are a doctor or physician whatever they call the profession (if I screw up any vernacular I apologize). You come from a really well to do family and you enjoy being a doctor, you're fresh out of medical school and you love helping people. But your parents are expecting you to take over the family business which you're looking less forward to because you're all about helping people and not really much about the business side of things.
You and your family are on a train heading to meet your chosen fiance which you're not looking forward to cuz you really don't have any say in the matter. But then your train gets hit by the most infamous Outlaw duo in the county Sundrop and Moondrop. They board the train steal some loot from them Rich Folk, but alas the authorities are hot on their Trail so they need a hostage. Sun playfully asks for any volunteers. Of course no one says anything. Until you speak up, volunteering yourself because you're a good person and you don't want to see anyone else getting hurt.
They take you with them and of course there is some coldness towards them on your part because you've heard all kinds of stories about the Dirty Deeds and heinous crimes these two have committed. So imagine you're surprised when they treat you incredibly well despite the fact that you're their hostage. They find out who your folks are and get to thinking that they can hold you for a pretty hefty Ransom so they're going to hang on to you for a little while longer. Much to your chagrin.
They take you to their hidden hideout (they blindfold you so you dont know where it is) and you find that they've built themselves a little community that is primarily filled with children. You learn that most if not all of the children there have been either abused or abandoned and Sun and Moon took it upon themselves to take them in and look after them, stealing money so that they can provide them all the food and clothes and comforts that they need. (I also Imagine they called the community Kids Cove, little nod to the game, and maybe one or two other animatronics are there looking after the kids like Foxy.)
When they bring you there they learn that some of the kids are developing a type of illness and you announce that you are a doctor and ask to have a look at them. You use your medical Knowledge and Skills to not only help out the kids but let the Outlaw Duo know what sort of medicine is needed in order to treat the illness. So you decide to make yourself useful and help out the poor kids while you're being held for ransom. However the longer you're there the more at home you feel and the more you come to take a shine to the pair of Outlaws that do so much for all these kids.
And eventually, when they offer to take you home, you asked to stay. And they are only too happy to accommodate you on that.

Quiet Game
Part 1
Damian was laid to rest in the Batcave with machines hooked and the only comfort Jason got from him was the beeping.
Dick and Tim ran as soon as they heard, asking Jason for details. Jason was a wreck and that's not even bringing in the anger he felt at Bruce.
"Why didn't you show up sooner?! You said you'd be there!" Jason couldn't help it, he punched Bruce in the chest over and over again in anger at the man, at Joker and at himself. "HE'S A FUCKING KID BRUCE AND YOU SAID YOU'D BE THERE! WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU THIS TIME?!"
Dick and Tim only watched, no words could express such fear. Damian had stopped breathing when Batman came. His heart had stopped, he died.
Robin- no Damian Wayne died because of the Joker.
"EXPLAIN YOURSELF YOU FUCKING BASTARD! WHERE WERE YOU WHEN HE WAS GETTING BEAT BY A CROWBAR FROM THAT CLOWN?! HE WOULDN'T MAKE A NOISE! THAT ASSHOLE MADE US PLAY IN HIS GAME AND DAMIAN REFUSED TO LET ME GET HURT BECAUSE HE'S TOO GOOD OF A KID TO HAVE BEEN LET DOWN BY YOU BRUCE! WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU?!"
God he felt like he was gonna rip out his own hair and the Lazarus Pit's influence was surging through his veins. He wants to scream, curse and destroy Bruce for being too slow again.
"Fuck you Bruce! You didn't show for me and you promised and all you did was let us down! Even when he was bleeding and broken, he stopped that damn bomb when I couldn't! I was terrified and he was stronger than anyone and when you said you'd show you never did!"
"Jason-"
"NO SHUT THE FUCK UP!"
Jason was crying, he didn't even know when it started, he felt like such a kid again. Like he was back in that warehouse begging for Batman to arrive for him. Instead he died and now Damian was barely alive himself.
"A...ak..."
Jason rushed to Damian, the boy was bandaged and put in a cast. His leg elevated and his face was barely visible in the wrappings, only his left eye and mouth were seen.
"Dami, hey"
"Akh..." He was straining himself, as if every word caused pain and no one doubted that it did.
"...alive?"
"Yeah you're alive Dami. You're okay"
"Loud... hurt"
"I'm sorry, I'll be more quiet. You get rest. You need it"
"Mmkay"
Damian closed his eye again and took a deep breath before falling back to sleep. "Bruce. Just tell me... did you try to look for us? Where were you?"
"The tracker was bugged, Robin pinged everyone when news about the Joker came out and he said he saw him and every place I looked was set with traps and other hostages to slow the search. I'm sorry"
"...I...get it. I don't mean to blame you... Damian was just... looking at me as he got hurt. He refused to make a noise and at the end of it all he asked if I was okay and apologized that I was alone through it all the first time it happened... he was worried about me so much more than himself and I was stuck in place only watching and begging for him to say anything so Joker would stop hurting him... but he didn't"
Everyone looked at the broken kid, he was so snarky at times, so much it could be annoying. But now... anything he could say was all anyone wanted to hear.
...
A month later and Damian was finally able to move on his own, working with a crutch was difficult, but it got better. Jason hasn't returned to the Manor since, Dick and Tim kept watch over Damian and made sure everything was fine even with Robin MIA. Damian's arm was fully healed now, yet no matter how many texts Damian left Jason he didn't respond and no one knew where he went.
"Pennyworth... any news on Todd?"
"I'm sorry to say Master Damian, but Master Todd has not shown much, nor has Red Hood either"
"I see... thank you"
Damian sighed and got up, Titus following him. "I wish to take Titus on a walk, I'll be back"
"Are you okay with being by yourself?"
"No worries Pennyworth, Titus will protect me, won't you bud?" Damian pet Titus who wagged his tail in response. "See? I'll be good" "Have a good time Master Damian"
.
It was nice out, Titus was acting as Damian's support and taking it slow. Damian was caught in his own thoughts until Titus kept barking and looking at Damian. "What is it?"
Jason Todd... was standing by the metal gate
"Akhi? You're here"
"Hey... how are you feeling Dami?"
"I'm good! How are you? Where have you been?"
"I'm fine, I've been just doing whatever you know"
Damian crossed his arms "Lies. Why have you avoided me? Did... Did I make you feel bad after that incident? Is it cause I didn't do as you say?"
Jason sighed and ran his hand through his hair "No... it's just that, I realized how strong you are and I felt bad... that I wasn't strong enough to protect you. I wanted to be better for you"
"Akhi you are strong, without you there for me... who knows how long it would have been for someone to come. Thank you Todd for everything"
"I'm sorry it seemed I was avoiding you... I just needed time to think, I missed you Dames"
"I missed you Akhi"

Tumblr media
The sweet aroma invaded your sense of smell, as you blissfully admired the array of flower petals that surround you in the warm water that you were sitting in right now. Gently, you glided your hand across the water, watching the petals also softly move with the direction of the current causing some of them to stick to your hand like a tattoo. However, before you could even move your hand again to keep you somewhat entertained, you felt an unexpectanted grip on your wrist, only for the same hand to be pulled up as the person behind you placed a kiss within your inner palm causing you to turn around to see what your husband was intending to do.
The man behind you, who still has his lips on your palm, opened his eyes to showcase his charming scarlet eyes as he looked down upon you only for him to smile softly at you - a rare smile that he only reserved for you and you only. Smiling softly back to him, you took the opportunity to caress his cheek as you admired the black markings that were permanently painting on his skin.
To him, at this current moment in time, you were at your most beautiful state as the water glistened beautifully on your bare skin with some of the petals stuck on to you, making you look like a painting made by the greatest artist with your hair stuck upon your neck due to it being soaked with the water that you and him were in right now.
“What’s going on in that little mind of yours?” Sukuna quietly asked as he leaned forward to place a heavy kiss upon your lips, leaving you no room to answer his question as you were so concentrated on the euphoric feeling to which then you felt his arms slowly wrap around your small figure, entrapping you in his embrace, leaving you no choice but to completely turn your body to face him as you then placed your leg on either side of him causing some of the water to overflow over the wooden bath, but that left no concern for you or the King of Curses.
“Nothing,” you answered him with a heavy breath once your both pulled apart, but still this little thought of yours was still plaguing your mind. “Don’t lie to me little one, you know better than not to lie to me ever,” Sukuna muttered, as his hand snaked from tracing your collarbone to having a light hold on your neck. However, it wasn’t the usual hold he would have against his opponent where his grip would tighten to disturb the airflow leading to the suffocation the unfortunate victim but rather a comforting gesture as his thumb moved up and down, expressing to you that you were able to open up to him about anything that was troubling your mind.
“When I pass, I came to the realisation that it won’t bother you at all,” you admitted to him with a soft smile, as you run your hand through his dampened hair. Although, the curse himself, exhibited the opposite reaction to what you were expressing right now making him wonder what caused you to question your importance to him.
“Little one, when you state that absurd comment, it does nothing but infuriate me,” Sukuna voiced out to you as he leaned forward towards you - to the point where you were chest to chest - before leaving a few kisses upon your jawline. “When you pass, I will have no idea how to control myself. I may be sadistic in nature but you have calmed me down to extreme lengths that sometimes I am scared to admit. When you pass, I have nothing left to hold, no other person can take your place. Ever.” Sukuna expressed to you as he then leaned back to look at you in the eye, only to see your surprised express to his admission, “don’t ever, let that ridiculous idea come to plague your mind again Y/N, you are mine for eternity as I am yours, there is no escape from it, we are bonded forever,”.
“Forever ha?” you repeated him in a light breath, only for him to pull you into another heated kiss as his hands began to wonder around your body as if he was tracing everything to memory. Your body, your heart and your soul was entirely bonded to him as the same goes for him to you. As he said, there was no escape from it.
                                              ꕥ
“Sorry, but he’s not coming back”
Stood frozen, you didn’t have the strength to look back on who was behind you nor did you want to lose sight of Fushiguro, knowing out of the both of you, he was in the most danger.
“Don’t be so frightened, I’m in a good mood right now, since I get to physically see you again Y/N, so let’s chat for a bit” Sukuna cunningly commented, causing you to widen your eyes while the cold sweat behind your back began to intensify, fearful on what the King of Curses intended for you.
‘I need to quickly get Fushiguro to a safe place….but how? Damn it! How?’
However, before you could even move, the King of Curses decided that he would move for you to present himself to both of yours and Fushiguro’s view. “This is what he gets for trying to use me without any kind of pact, feels like he’s having some trouble switching back,” Sukuna stated as if he was explaining on why Itadori couldn’t gain control even after showcasing back in Sendai that he could.
“Still, though it’s a matter of time,” Sukuna continued to talk as he casually ripped off the top of Itadori’s uniform, showcasing the black markings on his body. On the other hand, what happened next caused you and Fushiguro to widen your eyes in terror as Sukuna suddenly viciously stabbed himself in the chest with his hand before slowly taking out the beating heart that was inhibiting Itadori’s body.
“I’m taking this brat hostage”
Finally having the guts to move your body, using the extremely little gap of time you had, you swiftly grabbed onto Fushiguro’s sleeve before speedily using your curse energy to form a protective sphere around his body leaving you alone in the open to any attacks the special grade curse could use on you now.
“Y/N!” Fushiguro shouted while beginning to violently bang his arms on the orb that you had manifested around him, trying to obtain a crack or a weak spot to let him out. “What are you doing you, idiot?!” Fushiguro then questioned you in a state of panic, trying to gain some understanding of what you were planning. However, you didn’t answer.
“Your goodwill stayed with you even after 1000 years, there’s nothing more than I expected from my little one, though I am frustrated at the fact that it isn’t reserved for me”
Still somewhat fearful but now confused, you quickly used your curse energy to construct a black katana out of thin air, before raising up to point the tip to Sukuna’s neck. “Oh?” Sukuna expressed before smiling at you with such pride expressed on his face, “it’s been such a long time since you have threatened me like that Y/N, you were powerful in words back then but now you gained powers of a sorcerer, what a magnificent discovery,”.
‘What can I do? I have a limit of summoning 20 weapons at the same time but is that even enough to even get a single scratch on him?’
“Do you not remember me? Little one, you look as beautiful as you did that night, your hair wet from the rain and your skin still beautiful glistens then the water hits your face” Sukuna playfully commented, as he took a step closer to you causing you to take one step back.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” you finally spoke to the man in front of you, only for him to smirk even wider. However, before he could even get another single word in, you immediately summoned another 19 weapons - maximizing your limit -  from spear, swords and axes behind him, only for all of then to immediately come down with a powerful strike causing a large explosion to erupt as dust from the ground suddenly flared up, blinded your view as well as Fushiguro’s causing his anxiety to heighten on what was going on and where you were.
“You always somehow impressed me, little one. There is never a day where I am disappointed,” a deep voice commented, causing you to widen your eyes once you saw Sukuna standing right in front of you with an uncharacteristic soft smile on his face - leaving you in an extreme state of confusion once a blurred image of a man smiling at you slowly constructed in your mind.
“Why?” you question yourself in a perplexed tone.
‘How?’
“Why do I suddenly feel like I've seen you smile at me like that before?” you quietly questioned, still engulfed in the dusty smoke that was surrounding the both of you. Slowly and gently gripping on to the wrist on your other hand, Sukuna slowly raised it up before placing a small kiss within the palm of your hands causing an almost unnoticeable tiny electric current to travel up your arm to the kissed palm - as if it was something that your body suddenly remembered.
“We are bonded forever, remember that little one” Sukuna declared to you in a softer tone than he had expressed earlier before the black markings slowly started to fade indicating to you that Itadori was steadily coming back, causing you to drop your katana and open your arms once you felt his heavy body fall upon yours.
“Itadori?” you quietly called, still hoping that he was alive somehow even without the use of the vital organ that was now out of his body.
“Y/N?” Itadori called out to you just in time as the dust around you began to fade, “I’m almost done for, but I guess I don’t have to worry you, Fushiguro, Kugisaki and Gojo-sensei anymore, live a long life,”, but before you could even get a single sound in to tell him that he was going to be okay, you felt his body slowly go limp indicating to you that he was now gone.
“Bonded forever?”

If Bella was somehow bitten somehow and woke up alone during New Moon, but the Cullens didn't find her (I don't know if this is still 'Edward mercy kills Bella' territory but if it is then maybe her gift knows this and starts blocking Alice) and she became a nomad, would she still do the diet and if so for how long?
This is shockingly in the realm of possibility and not necessarily in the land of Edward mercy killing Bella.
Though there are some dangers Bella would have to avoid somehow for survival.
Bella is Bitten Alone in New Moon
We have one vampire who meets Bella during New Moon and another who with very little difference in the timeline would have run across her: Laurent and Victoria.
In the case of Laurent, he and Bella have a chat, he decides Bella smells delicious and he'll spare her the pain of being slowly murdered by Victoria, and just as he decides to go for it he gets run down and eaten by giant wolves.
Bella survives her vampire encounter.
In the case of Victoria, she never really gets close enough to do damage until the fight between Edward and Victoria and Riley and Seth in Eclipse.
So we have a few ways this could go:
Laurent's a few seconds ahead of Sam and company. He manages to get a good bite in and doesn't crush Bella on impact. He's run off by the wolves and Bella survives.
The problem here is that Bella has now been bitten and there's no coming back for her. It's a tragedy, and the wolves will feel a shared sense of failure and burden that they failed to save her, but she's dead anyway. They have to kill her before she fully turns.
Bella's gift, while powerful, doesn't appear to help in this kind of situation. Though, that said, in her dire need it could suddenly give her the ability to project illusions like we see in Renesmee. Doesn't seem to be how Bella's gift typically rolls, but hey, this is her darkest hour.
Otherwise, Jake could pull his alpha move much earlier in order to save Bella's life. He ignores Sam's order, flees with the turning Bella, and dumps her in the wilderness somewhere with a note from Jake that she must never return to Forks. She wakes up alone, only guessing though not knowing what Jake has done for her, and stares blankly at the wilderness.
If Victoria catches up to Bella, well, it's not looking good. All too likely, Bella dies painfully, and Victoria leaves a video tape of the entire ordeal in the Cullen house for when they eventually return (as they surely will).
Though, that said, the ease with which Victoria accomplishes this and the complete lack of Cullen intervention could catch her off guard. Perhaps... Edward doesn't actually give a rat's ass. That says terrible things about James' needless death, but Victoria's holding this girl hostage. She will die, in the most painful manner imaginable, and the Cullens aren't there.
Victoria might turn Bella out of pity or else turn her as she figures out, in part from Bella, that Bella becoming a vampire is Edward's worst case scenario. However, in that case, it's unlikely Victoria would abandon Bella, so Bella wouldn't be on her own.
Which, I think for this post, makes Jake's alpha sacrifice the most likely path. He dumps Bella's half-vampire body somewhere in nowhere Canada.
Bella After the Bite
Being dumped in the wilderness helps a lot. For one, Bella already has unbelievable control, for another this is Edward's penguin scenario. There is no one else out here for her to eat even if she wanted to.
So, following the diet is easy.
And it's something she'd very much wish to do. Bella sees the world of vampires divided into two types of vampire: the good Cullen vampires who don't eat people and the bad vampires who, well, eat people.
This left such a mark on Bella that she has very little idea of what a vampire even is.
Bella would be horrified at herself if she became a bad vampire. In wanting vampirism she wanted the vampirsim she sees in the Cullens. Bella might be miserable and alone, without a friend in the world, but she would be horrified to choose anything other than the Cullen way of life.
At least, at first.
The Return of the Cullens
There's a few paths for Bella after she's dumped in the middle of nowhere.
Alice sees that Bella's become a vampire, an abandoned newborn, and is wandering aimlessly around the wilderness somewhere. Even though Edward has forbidden contact, this is probably enough to motivate Alice who was genuinely worried.
She likely goes behind Edward's back and tries to find Bella with Jasper and possibly the rest of the Cullens.
Edward, of course, is still in Rio being a miserable saint for leaving precious human Bella.
Eventually, they manage to find her, and there's a lot of miscommunication, very hurt feelings, and heartfelt apologies even from Rosalie because look what happened to this poor girl. Though they each, either reluctantly or more enthusiastically, agreed to leave this was not what they had in mind.
Bella forgives them quite readily, as she did in canon, because she has the self-esteem of a thimble. The Cullens are awed and very grateful, Rosalie would never have forgiven them for this.
It probably takes them both a) a while to decide how best to tell Edward and break the news to him b) a while to get a hold of Edward because he's ignoring all their phone calls.
Eventually they do, it's a shit show, for the purpose of this post we'll say he does not mercy kill Bella. He might actually be feeling too guilty for that. Instead he grovels on the ground constantly, begging Bella's forgiveness, and refuses to enter a relationship with her because he's unworthy.
This undoubtedly upsets Bella, because she's also unworthy and Edward knows it and doesn't love her, but that's not the point of this meta.
In this world, the Cullens keep Cullening after picking Bella up, Bella's adopted into the fold and made Edward's twin sister due to looking the most like him (which, of course, makes them look actually incestuous in high school to add to the Cullen mystique).
With the support of the Cullens, living the Cullen lifestyle, and having the control that Bella has there's no question of ever leaving the diet.
Bella stays on the wagon.
Bella Seeks Out the Denali
Alice is successful and doesn't see Bella's future for whatever reason. Edward will be so proud. Bella is left alone in Canada to eat moose.
Eventually, Bella decides that however great being a vampire is, she's lonely and miserable. She wants companionship.
Well, obviously the Cullens hate her, so even if she could find them they probably never want to see her again. But what about the Denali?
Bella's already in Canada, she could head over to the Denali National Park in Alaska, and surely the least she could do is actually introduce herself.
Of course, the coven sounds blonde, hot, aggressively female, and very intimidating. Tanya's history of wanting to bang Edward has Bella feeling very small and worthless. More, the Cullens may have told the Denali all about how stupid and ugly Bella, Edward's current human girlfriend, is and they've all laughed at her.
However, Bella's so desperate for companionship, for some connection back to her old life, that she goes for it.
She makes it to Alaska, wanders around until she eventually finds the Denali coven, and introduces herself. The Denali are weird assholes, but Bella's so oblivious she actually doesn't notice.
That said, they've had their brush with the law, and Tanya doesn't want a newborn running around by herself. Eleazar also gives a truly pompous, awful, speech about compassion to their fellow man. It's unbearable, Bella finds it charming.
They take Bella in, she can be the dark-haired sister. Her control is so good the three single ladies quickly take her clubbing and encourage her to sleep away her troubles with human men.
Bella quickly finds that, when you're on the vampire end of the equation, the relationship with human thing is kind of gross. These people smell like food, are squishy and overly warm, and have the substance of tofu.
Bella feels even worse about her relationship with Edward.
She sleeps with human men anyway so that the Denali sisters won't judge her/will think she's cool.
They're so proud of her.
Regardless, Bella stays on the diet as the Denali follow the diet. She will likely have a few accidents with her human lovers, and will be inconsolable, but the coven will be there to offer comfort and help her get back on the wagon.
Bella stays on the wagon
Bella's Low Self-Esteem Wins and She Becomes a Hermit
Bella can't return to Forks and she's so ugly, stupid and boring that even though she's a vampire if she met anyone new they'd realize how ugly, stupid, and boring she is.
Better to just forsake society altogether and live with moose.
Bella's able to do this for quite a long time. Years even. And it's... fine. But her life has no purpose nor any direction to it.
She becomes tempted by society. How many years has it been? Has the world changed since she left? Has Forks changed? Is Charlie still alive? Is Renee? What about her classmates?
Bella starts travelling and visiting human cities and, thanks to her control, she does very well.
However, it's very likely that one day she'll slip, she takes her control far too much for granted and all it takes is one mistake.
And that's where Bella starts getting into trouble.
She's horrified at first, of course, and that likely doesn't break her. She gets back on the wagon, but the second time it happens...
There are no consequences to her breaking the diet. She has no companions, no one cares. Why is she living in constant agony, every single day, for people who will one day die anyway? Why is Bella choosing to suffer?
As time goes on, as humans start to mean less and less to her and all the humans that she knew when human herself are dead, Bella starts forgetting the reason that the diet seemed so vital to her existence.
At one point, it stops meaning anything at all, it's just Bella pointlessly choosing to live in agony.
Bella falls off the wagon.
TL;DR I think it'd take a while, at least ten years, but if she becomes a solitary nomad, it would inevitably happen.

Possible angsty prompt: sam and bucky are at a super market in New York and someone tries to rob it but oh no no no you got two avengers there so that ain't happening but low and behold peter shows up because robbery, but sam and bucky still really don't like Peter. Maybe Peter takes a bullet for one of them?
I like this!! I changed it up a bit but I tried not to deviate too far from what you asked for. Hope you like it!! xoxo
P.S. I added SteveTony in here bc I’m a slut for that ship and I like to add it whenever I can.
Tumblr media
Steve exits the small medical room and walks over to the waiting room where both Bucky and Sam had been instructed to wait.
Not that they were planning to go anywhere. Not until they knew Peter was okay.
The duo looks up as Steve enters and takes a seat across from them, leaning on his knees and clasping his hands together. He’s quiet for a moment, looking down at the floor before looking back up at his friends.
“Peter is going to be fine. The bullet was less than an centimeter from his carotid artery, but he’ll be fine now.”
Both waiting men let go of their collective breaths, relaxing slightly with the knowledge that no. They didn’t get the kid killed.
“You’re lucky Tony refuses to leave Peter’s side, or this would be a lot louder.”
Neither Sam nor Bucky answer him.
Steve sighs, leaning back in his chair, “Tell me what happened.”
Three hours earlier
There’s a clap on Bucky’s shoulder, and Sam is lucky that the older man heard him coming beforehand.
“You about done, old man? We gotta head back soon.”
Bucky signs a paper and takes a small envelope from the teller, giving her a small smile as a thanks.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” Bucky claps Sam’s shoulder harder, just enough to make the man stumble.
“Jackass.” He mumbles.
There’s suddenly an onslaught of bullets being shot into the ceiling, forcing everyone to the ground.
“Get on the ground! Face down! Don’t move or we’ll shoot!” One of the perpetrators yells as they walk farther into the bank.
Bucky and Sam drop with everyone else, a plan already formulating in their heads. Luckily, they dropped behind an island counter and can quietly communicate without the gunmen seeing.
Sam has a gun, but is a lot less skilled with it than Bucky. So Sam’s main goal is distraction and keeping the guns away from civilians while Bucky takes each gunman down.
Just as they move into position to kick off their plan, a familiar voice rings out.
“There’s a lot less violent ways to take out a loan. You guys know that, right?”
The two men exchange glances.
“You’ve got to be shitting-“ Sam’s complaints are cut off as bullets begin to rain hellfire once again.
Bucky takes the distraction to stand and shoot, taking down two gunmen before a third one is shot with web fluid, pinning him to the ground.
“Oh hi Mister Barnes!” Spider-Man calls, flipping over a fourth and webbing him too.
“This isn’t Queens, kid. What are you doing here?” Sam asks, already moving to help any injured hostages.
“I was close enough and caught the call on the police scanner. I figured-“
“Get outta here kid, we have it handled.” Bucky says, shooting the fifth guy who had hidden when Spider-Man appeared.
“Hey! I took down two of these guys. I just wanted to help. I didn’t even know you were here.”
“Well we are. So you can go now.” Says Sam, who is now leading people out of the building.
Spider-Man huffs, but his spider sense tingles and he turns, his surroundings moving in slow motion as he sees one of the men that Bucky had shot down roll over and lift his gun, pointing it at Bucky who was turned away from him.
Without thinking, Peter grabs Bucky’s shirt and throwing the man behind him, moving in the way of the bullet.
Now
Steve runs a hand down his face.
“So Peter stepped in between you and a bullet?”
Bucky rubs his hands together, eyes downcast.
“Yeah.”
“After you told him to leave.” He asks, his eyes moving to Sam.
“Yeah.” Sam answers quietly.
Steve stands and grabs his chair, swinging it closer to his friends. He sits.
“You two are my best friends. But Tony is my husband now. And Peter, for all intents and purposes, is his kid. Can you guys please try to get along with the kid? I know he’s a hyper kid but he took a bullet for you. Maybe cut him some slack?”
Bucky nods, rubbing his own face, “Yeah.”
“We can do that.” Sam adds.
“Good,” Steve smiles, “I’d avoid Tony for the rest of the night though.”
The next morning
Peter is sipping on some apple juice, sitting up with the help of his hospital bed.
Tony had left a few minutes ago, saying that he needed to shower now that the kid wasn’t in critical condition.
There’s a knock at the door, and Peter turns his attention to it. His whole torso has to turn with him so he doesn’t pull at the still healing wound.
“Come in.”
Much to his surprise, Sam and Bucky walk into his room, Sam holding a red gift bag with blue tissue paper.
“Uh, hi?” Peter says, putting his juice box down on the table next to his bed, “What’s up?”
The two men look at each other as if they have no idea what to do. Sam speaks up first.
“We want to apologize for what happened yesterday.”
“Oh! Why? You didn’t shoot me.” Peter says.
Bucky shakes his head, “I was so distracted by the fact that you were there that I didn’t notice that the guy was still alive. If I had been paying attention-“
“It’s fine guys, really-“
“No it’s not,” Sam interjects, “We made a mistake that almost got you killed. And that’s on us.”
Peter’s eyes move from Bucky to Sam.
“I’m sorry, Peter.” Sam says.
“I’m sorry.” Bucky adds, “And we, uh, brought you a gift.”
Sam steps forward and hands the bag to Peter, who smirks.
“Spider-Man colors?”
“Man, shut up and open it.” Sam chuckles.
Peter smiles and removes the blue tissue paper, pulling out a black hoodie that is way too big for him. On the front it says ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier are my favorite Avengers’.
It’s obvious they got it at one of those venders that can make just about whatever you want on clothing.
Peter let’s out a laugh and lowers the shirt, “Thanks guys. I love it.”
“That’s not it.” Sam says, and both he and Bucky unzip their jackets to reveal they are wearing matching red t-shirts that say ‘Spider-Man is my favorite Avenger’.
Peter let’s out a guttural laugh, struggling to catch his breath. When he finally does, he slips on his sweatshirt with help from Bucky.
“I think this is the best present I’ve ever gotten.”
Bucky rolls his eyes, “Eat it up, kid. Because we’re burning these once you get out of here.”
And that’s how Tony ends up with multiple copies of the three now friends making bunny ears behind each other’s heads, each wearing their corresponding shirts.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Yeosang always hid in the shadows. Never coming out of them.
He hated society, hated people and honestly couldn't care if they all died.
He just kept to himself, only going out of his house when he really needed to.
Like to get groceries, get his car fixed or anything of the like.
He even had a steady online job that allowed him the privilege of interacting as little as possible with the outside world.
That's how he liked it.
This way, nobody bothers him or annoys him.
One day, he went to a nearby convenience store to buy a few sweet snacks for himself.
He was walking out of the store, not really paying attention where he was going.
When someone bumped into him, which pissed him off.
But the angry glare he had quickly vanished when he saw you.
"Oh I'm sorry! I didn't see you." You apologized to him.
You went your way, thinking you'd never see the handsome stranger in your life again, that he'd just be another casualty in your life.
But you were wrong.
The moment Kang Yeosang laid eyes on you, was the moment he became obsessed with you.
He stood there, immobile, watching as you walked away, out of his life, possibly forever....
And that's when he realized he needed to bring you back into it.
He went out every day to the same convenience store, hoping to see you again.
He would walk around the surrounding streets, gazing at the people passing around, hoping to see your face again.
But he never did, and he was growing desperate.
Just when he thought he'd go insane from not seeing you, you appeared once again.
This time he made sure not to let you out of his sight.
Silently and without you suspecting, he followed you to your home.
Even after you went inside, he stood outside your window for hours, wondering what you were doing.
He only went home when you turned off the lights and went to sleep.
But now he knows where you live, and watching you would be easier than ever.
The next day you went to work as you usually did, not suspecting anything at all.
Yeosang had other plans though.
Taking advantage of the fact you weren't home, he managed to break into your house.
He looked around the place, looking through every picture, cabinet and drawer you had.
It was inevitable for him to find out as much information about you as possible.
He was definitely satisfied with the fact that it appeared you lived alone and as far as he could tell, you had no boyfriend.
He also knew he had to get to work.
So he prepared a bunch of tiny cameras to install around various places of your house:
In the kitchen, living room, front door, backyard, several in your bedroom and even in your bathroom.
They were really small and almost invisible to the human eye.
While installing some of them in your room, he came across your lingerie drawer.
He turned a pretty shade of pink as he sorted through the different articles of clothing.
He began to imagine you wearing them and then imagine himself tearing them off of you.
Picking out a cute lacy red and black panty, he held it up to his nose and inhaled the subtle scent of you.
He ended up jerking himself off in your bedroom with it, completely staining it with his hot cum.
It was one of the very few things he took from you, along with other trinkets that he ended up putting up as a mini shrine to you.
From then on, he began to watch you through all the cameras.
From the moment you got up and left the house, to when you came back and went to bed, his eyes were fixed on you, watching and observing your every move.
He did not look away whenever you got changed, took a shower or even during those times where you felt needy and decided to pleasure yourself.
Those were the times Yeosang had his eyes wide open, along with his pants so his hand could easily rub his cock.
For a while, he thought he could live the rest of his life like this: watching you through a screen.
After all, every time you watched tv, you were watching it with him, right?
You started to wear more clothing in the shade of red because you knew it was his favorite color, right?
And every time your fingers rubbed your clit and threw you over the edge, it was Yeosang you were imagining.......right?
In Yeosang's mind, every smile, every blink, every breath you did......it was all for him, it had to be.
That's why he was coursing with rage when you went out with your friends one time and came back late.
It wasn't the fact that you came late and he'd been worried about you.
It was the fact you came stumbling back in your house, kinda tipsy....
With another man all over you.
He watched in disbelief as you guided him to your room and let him undress you.
You let someone else put his filthy, disgusting hands all over your holy body, let him touch you in places only Yeosang could..
And he absolutely lost it when you allowed him to penetrate and stain you.
How could you? You were his and his only. You're not supposed to be begging and crying out for anyone that isn't him.
That's when Yeosang decided to take action. Living with you through a screen wasn't enough anymore...
He had to physically have you.
So he immediately began packing whatever he deemed necessary to bring you back.
He patiently waited until the bastard came out your house, and as soon as he got the opportunity.....
He came up behind him and wrapped a rope around his throat, strangling him with pure rage and disgust at the thought that he touched you.
He left his lifeless body in the yard and went inside for you.
Creeping up behind you, he got out a cloth that was drenched in nitrous oxide, and placed it over your nose and mouth.
"Shhh, ssssh. It's ok baby, I won't hurt you." He cooed at you softly.
He carefully layed your unconscious body on a couch.
He couldn't believe that he finally had you, see you, touch you, it was all surreal.
His hands began to caress and draw out each of your beautiful features.
Then they trailed down and began to caress other parts of your body.
He couldn't help himself as he fumbled to rid you of your clothes and of his own.
He entered you slowly, gasping at the wonder he felt at finally being inside you
He kept a slow and steady pace at first, wanting to savior the precious moment.
And then he remembered how just a few hours before, you had been tainted by some filthy asshole.
Then he began going rougher on your sleeping body, slapping your chest, thighs and face occasionally.
"How could you let some bastard touch you? Hmm? You're not some filthy whore for any man to take."
His hand gripped your neck and pulled you up to him.
"You're mine....you're all fucking mine. Only I can cum inside this pretty little hole." He growled as he fucked himself inside you, painting your walls as he always wanted to.
"And now it's time to go home."
You woke up in a strange room, tucked in a strange bed and with a burning ache in between your legs.
You tried to get up, but you were still dizzy from the gas attack from before.
When your eyes adjusted to the light, you gasped when you caught a pair of large brown eyes looking at you intensely.
"H- hi.." Yeosang waved at you cutely.
You just looked at him in confusion as he creeped up closer to you and smiled.
"Who...who are you? What am I doing here?" You asked.
He merely chuckled. "Silly girl. I'm Yeosang of course!" He stated as if it was a universally known fact.
He pouted when you didn't react.
"You know? Your soulmate? The love of your life?"
You actually let out a laugh at his words, which not only made him get embarrassed but also angry.
"First off all, I don't even know who the fuck you creep are. Second, I'm leaving whatever this nasty place is."
Before you could even move though, Yeosang was already pining you down on the bed.
It seemed you underestimated him, thinking because he looked lean he wouldn't be hard to take down...
But you were wrong...
Yeosang was incredibly strong and in one particular move where you tried to slap him, he retaliated by smacking you across your face.
You were left stunned by the force of it, which led to your nose bleeding and cheek burning.
Yeosang didn't stop there, he tilted your chin up and proceeded to give the same treatment to your other cheek, a nasty bruise would eventually form on that one.
"I really suggest you stop denying our love...for your sake and mine."
Yeosang's cold, emotionless eyes and icy voice sent shivers down your spine.
He looked absolutely insane, completely void of any feeling or rationality and that was extremely terrifying.
Yeosang only had 2 rules while you were with him: "Always love me and never leave me."
But it was so hard because he'd talk to you as if he knew you all your life, while he barely find out his last name.
Sometimes you were so uncomfortable or ended up spacing out, and he'd get upset so much that he'd either slap you or shove you to the floor.
"Tell me that you love me! I want you to say that you love me!" He cried out as his hands squeezed your neck tightly, barely letting you mutter out the words for him to finally let go of you and let you gasp for air.
You decided to play along then as best as you could to his little game.
Obviously it worked, he was happy and loving towards you, your behavior only feeding into his sick twisted illusion of a perfect relationship.
You hated it, hated playing into his delusional fantasy, hated having him touch you, feel you, caress you and love you in the bedroom.
You had to keep reminding yourself that it was only temporary, until you gained his trust enough to find a way to break free.
But time was passing by too fast and one day, during one of his many pregnancy tests you did, because Yeosang really wanted to have a baby with you, you nearly died.
It came out positive and you panicked.
You quickly disposed of the test, praying he'd never find it and began to search for anything to help you break open a door, a window.
You realized then that Yeosang never actually bolted the doors like he often told you, he'd just say that so you wouldn't even try it.
You opened the door, not caring that the alarm started going off, all you had to do was run to the next door house and ask for help.....
Except there was no next door house, nor was there a neighborhood....
There was nothing but a gate surrounding the house, and all around it was a dense forest, absolutely no sign of civilization.
You had no idea where you were and you were completely trapped. You started walking backwards and inhaled when your back pressed onto someone's chest.
Strong hands gripped your arms and one of them held up the pregnancy test that you desperately tried to get rid off.
You began crying, feeling utterly hopeless as a familiar and deep voice said:
"There's no escape......you won't ever leave..."

CHAPTER 5:
Jirou used her headphone jacks to listen in and try to track down Iida and Mineta's location. "Do you hear anything, Earphone Jack?" Kamanari asked, looking around at all the fake city buildings.
"Not yet. I hear some noise but it's hard to pinpoint exactly" she responded, concentrating hard. She put her hands over her earpieces to try and listen better. It was like there was noise coming from everywhere. Kaminari put his arms over his head. "Well how about we go looking for Hagakure? You can listen as we go" he suggested and Jirou nodded.
They walked for a few minutes before they went inside a building. Jirou used her quirk to try and listen for invisible girl's heartbeat but she didn't pick up anything so they moved on. Kaminari talked like usual, trying to make casual conversation as they searched, but Jirou only half-heartedly listened as she found it odd that neither Mineta nor Iida had shown up yet. It was only moments later that Jirou suddenly stopped. "KAMINARI!" she called out but her warning came too late as Iida jumped out from behind a building and ran full speed towards them.
"You're mine, heroes!" Iida laughed and Mineta, who was hanging on for dear life on his back, started to blindly throw the purple spheres on his head at them. Kaminari and Jirou both blocked them and when Jirou tried to plug her jacks to the ground and create an earthquake with the vibrations of her heartbeat, Mineta was thrown at her. He smiled sheepishly up at the girl from where he was clinging like a koala around her middle and Jirou scowled, sticking a plug in his head.
"I thought you'd try to do that. Apologies, fellow classmates, but I am not your friend right now" Iida ran and grabbed a hold of Jirou's lobes to run around in circles around them and tie her and Kaminari back to back with them like he remembered Mirio-senpai did when they were first years.
"Jirou, Kaminari, you've been immobilized by the enemy. Villain team wins. Group one, please return to the gates. Group two, make your way to the center" Aizawa's voice came through the speakers.
...
Team two's turn out resulted in a victorious Ashido and Kirishima though it was a close one. Momo as a villain is a dangerous thing and half the class watching suddenly found themselves grateful she was on their side.
"Group three, to the center" Aizawa called out and Bakugou muttered curse words under his breath the whole time as he walked a few steps ahead of his other classmates. While they were going to be strategizing and fighting, Bakugou was just going to sit there like a damsel in distress and wait to be saved. It pissed him off.
"Tokoyami, Aoyama, your time starts now" their teacher pressed down on his seven minute timer.
"Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami started and the shadow monster quickly shot out of him to wrap itself around Bakugou's waist and lift him up. "On it, Fumikage!" The blonde had to resist the initial urge to ignite an explosion against bird brain's face. "Let's move, Can't Stop Twinkling!" Tokoyami began to run and Aoyama struck a pose to his two other classmates, sparkles seeming to come off him. "Oui !" he replied before turning and following after him. There wasn't much Bakugou could do but let himself be carried off god knows where.
...
"I hope you know that I'm letting you do this. I can defeat you and cheese boy with my eyes closed if I wanted to" Bakugou frowned, a bit bitter, and Tokoyami sighed. "I know, Bakugou."
Aoyama was keeping guard while Tokoyami had Dark Shadow put him on the balcony of some building, half hidden. Apparently, the plan was to lure the heroes in with him like bait then surprise attack after they wasted a few minutes searching which Bakugou thought was pretty fucking stupid. Half n half and the nerd were way stronger than both of them, and no, Bakugou wasn't complementing them. He was just saying that they sucked less.
He had nothing to do but lay down and pretend he was passed out. Bakugou didn't make a sound or move. He didn't know how many minutes had passed until he heard Deku and Shoto. About fucking time.
...
"Kacchan!" Deku called out, looking around. So far there haven't been any signs of Aoyama or Tokoyami anywhere but he was keeping an eye open for that. "He's passed out, Midoriya. Bakugou won't answer" Shoto looked over at the boy who sheepishly smiled and scratched the back of his neck. "Well, yeah, but we don't know that yet" he mumbled and Todoroki smiled but only slightly at his friend. He doesn’t think he’d ever completely understand Izuku’s thought process.
"Kacchan!" he called out again. They had approximately twelve minutes left before the time ran out so he had to hurry and save Kacchan before it's too late. His eyes shifted over to Shoto for a second. Was it wrong that he preferred he was doing this on his own? Shoto was amazing but he also knew he had the abilities to save Kacchan himself.
Shoto used his ice to create a structure high enough to climb and check if he could see Bakugou from up there. He looked around before he saw a bit of blonde on a building balcony a street or two away. Shoto looked down at where Izuku was, green lightning surrounding him as he kept watch for their other two classmates. He felt a bit hesitant about telling him. Shoto looked back at where he saw Bakugou and peered his eyes. Surely it had to be a trap, why else would they place him there of all places? "Midoriya! He's in the red building over there, straight ahead, but I think it might be a trap" he called down to him and Izuku nodded in understanding. They'll just have to be extra careful then.
Shoto and Deku quickly ran over to where he saw Bakugou. "You stay here. I can go" Shoto looked straight up at the balcony.
"That's okay, Todoroki-kun. You stay and I'll go using Full cowling" Izuku smiled. Todoroki kept his lips in a tight line.
Todoroki was about to say something more when out of the corner of his eye he saw a beam of light coming his way and he managed to dodge the attack, pushing Izuku out of the way as well. Aoyama's naval laser had grown stronger over the years and the boy was now able to pierce through a building if he focused enough. "Now, Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami yelled. At the same time that Aoyama attacked, the boy was flying straight towards them at great speed, Dark Shadow holding him around the waist wrapped under his cape. It was something he learned at Pro-hero Hawks agency, taking advantage of Dark Shadows ability to float. "Abyssal Black Body Sabath!" he called and two large shadow claws formed around his hands. Todoroki ignited his left side but with Dark Shadow hidden under Tokoyami's cloak, the effect seemed to have only little effect as both of Dark Shadow's claws hit Midoriya and him and sent them flying in opposite directions.
Todoroki and Izuku fought tooth and nail against both Aoyama and Tokoyami. It was only until Todoroki was able to create a well timed blast of ice to cage both Tokoyami and Aoyama in that Deku was able to go up to the balcony. Izuku stared down at Bakugou's restful face. He had his face relaxed and eyes closed as he pretended to be knocked out. He truly did look beautiful. Izuku carefully picked up Bakugou bridal style, one arm under his legs and the other supporting his back. Bakugou was lighter than he thought he'd be. "I'm holding you, Kacchan. You're safe now. Just hold on a little longer for me" he reassured. "You sound like an idiot playing a hero, nerd. I'm perfectly fine" Katsuki opened his eyes, cocking an eyebrow. Izuku flushed a deep red. "Guess I got too into it."
"Todoroki, Midoriya, you've captured the enemy and rescued the hostage. Hero team wins. Return to the main gates. Group four, to the center" Aizawa’s monotone voice came from the speaker.
"It's over. Good. Now put me down before I blast you" Bakugou growled and Izuku did so immediately. "Y-yes!"
Todoroki, from down below, eyed the exchange and couldn’t help but feel a squeeze in his chest as he stared on with an emotionless face. He couldn’t seem to figure out why he felt like that way towards his friend though. He turned away to make quick work at melting the ice cage to free a shivering Aoyama and Tokoyami. All he knew was that he kinda wished it was him who had gotten to Bakugou first.

I don't want Percy to be MC's friend. He's a complete jerk who only cares about himself more than his friends, parents and siblings but at least, he learned his mistake in the last Harry Potter movie. Watch the video called "The Entire Life of Percy Weasley (Harry Potter Explained)"
I can’t say that I agree, anon, though I can understand finding Percy obnoxious, especially in this game. His personality can definitely rub people the wrong way. However, having just watched the video, I have to say that I think it’s very one-sided. I’ll try and go through everything that it talks about - under the cut because I have no filter.
Fred and George
To say that he didn’t like his brothers Fred and George, and that he wanted to control them, isn’t really accurate and it doesn’t acknowledge that whenever Fred and George were mentioned in conjunction with Percy, they were usually bullying him. Vandalizing his Head Boy badge, even though he was proud of having gotten the position and it meant a lot to him. Or the time that they literally sent him dragon dung. Or the time that they tried to leave him for dead in a Pyramid tomb. And it was played for laughs. I’m not condemning Fred and George because they were the human embodiment of the chaos alignment, so it makes sense that they would butt heads with Percy. Brothers pick on each other, I know it happens. But it’s not fair to act like Percy feeling distant from his other siblings was his own fault. Fred and George were really popular with the Weasleys and other kids. Percy, by comparison, was just tolerated. Even though he was the model student and the one who followed rules, and the twins were constantly causing trouble. Why should Percy be ashamed of doing what he’s supposed to do? Why shouldn’t he want attention and validation from his family? Maybe the reason he talked constantly about his accomplishments was because he wanted to be appreciated.
The other Weasleys
Most of the moments where he doesn’t get along with his family in the early books are not moments that Percy himself initiates. It’s primarily Ron, Ginny, or the Twins picking on him. He didn’t even feel like he could tell his family he was dating someone because he guessed (correctly) that they would bully him for it. Speaking of that, Ginny promised she would keep Percy’s secret, and then turned around and told basically everyone.
Despite all this, Percy very clearly cared about his family, well before Deathly Hallows. Like the time he boasted about Ron helping to win the House Cup. The time he tried to comfort Ginny, believing she was upset about Ron. The time he scolded Ron over this and warned him to stop going near the site of the Basilisk attacks because of how it would look. Or the time he watched out for Harry because Mrs. Weasley asked him to, “like an extremely pompous guard dog” as the video says. (Like I said, very one-sided.) Or the time that he refused to let go of Ron after Ron was used as a hostage in the Second Task. The video also attributes the end of Percy’s relationship with Penelope to him working too much in GOF...but there’s literally nothing in the books that ever suggests that.
The Triwizard Tournament
Like Bill, Percy is show constantly shown to be a good leader. He was named Prefect and Head Boy and he utterly embraced the positions. But the video mostly focuses on how proud he was of having gotten these positions and now enough on how he got them...because he earned them. In the same breath as talking about how he would apparate in the house every morning just to prove he could the video also talks about how Crouch barely gave Percy the time of day. Couldn’t be bothered to remember his name and just gave him pointless tasks. Despite how excited Percy was and how eagerly he would talk about all this to the rest of his family, who found it boring and avoided the topic. Percy is all alone in GOF. Even more so than he has been before. It’s really no wonder that he poured himself into his work and looked to the Ministry for support and validation, because he wasn’t getting any at home. He was just being belittled and humiliated at every turn. Of course, once Crouch was imperius’d, Percy thought he was finally getting recognition, but he was just being used. He was being set up as the fall guy. Even the villains are indirectly dismissive of this character!
Because Crouch was out of commission, Percy was having to deal with all his work. So to say that he valued laws and rules over his own family is not only cruel, it’s completely wrong. Percy is resentful of them because to him, it feels like their actions are creating more stress for him at work and ruining that environment for him too. Ruining his dreams. The Ministry (and the video) blames Percy for not figuring out that something was off about Crouch, but it was still the same hand-writing, so why would Percy question it?
The Estrangement
His supposed reprieve came when Fudge hired him as a Personal Assistant. Percy was excited and came home, hoping his Dad would be proud of him. But like always, Percy was disappointed. Arthur was right in his suspicions about why Fudge hired Percy, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that Percy heard “You aren’t good enough to have gotten this job.” He heard Arthur refuse to believe that he might have actually earned this. That he was succeeding. “No Percy, this job isn’t real. The one person who’s actually valued you in recent memory is just manipulating you and it’s totally our fault for siding with Dumbledore, but I won’t admit to that.” That’s how it felt. And yeah, it was one time too many. The Weasleys have never conveyed to Percy that they appreciate him or want him around, so why should he want to stick around? Why didn’t anyone step in sooner, or come to his defense when he was taking the fall for Crouch? Why is it only when their agenda is threatened that they say something? And Percy is the selfish one? Why should he believe Voldemort has returned? I agree that what he said to Arthur about Arthur’s reputation and their family was horrible...but I think Percy-Antis view this as totally without cause. And the cause is clear.
I take issue with how the video describes Percy slamming the door in Molly’s face “without even giving her a chance.” Because that scene was never depicted. We don’t know what happened or what was said. We don’t know how long the conversation may have lasted. But y’know, if I was Percy, I don’t think I’d even answer the door. He’s made his choice - cut ties with his family. To Molly’s credit, she was one of the only Weasleys who praised his accomplishments...but neither she nor Arthur ever did anything about the constant, constant bullying. That might be pretty hard to forgive, and Percy never receives any apology for it. He’s the only one who apologies in the end.
The letter that Percy sends Ron seems pretty terrible until you look at it from from the perspective that he’s genuinely trying to protect his little brother. Which he has always done in his own way. It’s an olive branch. Look, the word on the street is that Harry Potter is constantly lying and potentially dangerous. Percy might very well have made the judgment call that his family was blinded by their loyalty to him. It’s not like Percy and Harry were ever close. Think about it. After befriending Harry, Ron consistently got involved in dangerous adventures like confronting acromantulas, dementors, devil’s snare, the list goes on. It’s not unreasonable at all that Percy might want Harry to stay away from Ron. I’ll agree that giving Umbridge an endorsement is jaw-dropping...but we don’t see them interact. Umbridge might have put on a completely different face around Percy. Or he might have simply trusted Fudge and repeated his words. We just don’t know.
Fudge’s Departure
Dumbledore said that it’s harder to forgive someone for being right, then it is for being wrong. I’m not going to go off on a Dumbledore-bashing tirade right now, because that’s hardly the point -  but while that is very wise advice in general...it completely misses the real point of why Percy left. It doesn’t matter if Dumbledore was right and Fudge was wrong. (Though Percy no doubt felt horrible and humiliated yet again when he realized that.) What matters is that Percy’s family pushed him away and made him feel so isolated that Fudge valuing him was the only good thing going on in his life. Percy leaving doesn’t make him an asshole. But it does say a lot, not about him, that he decided Fudge’s approval and his job at the Ministry were worth moving out and cutting off all contact with his family. Dumbledore's assessment of Percy’s feelings once again ignores any responsibility that his family has in why he left in the first place.I genuinely do love the Weasleys to no end (just look at my URL) but their relationship to Percy was toxic.
Scrimgeour, like Fudge, used Percy to get to the Weasleys, and forced him to pretend that he wanted to see them when he didn’t. Try to imagine being in that position, especially when Molly was the only one who even acted happy to see him. Fred, George and Ginny threw food at him. Literally why would Percy ever want to see them again if this was the welcome that he got? It was already painful for him and they did not make it any easier. Sure, I know that it was probably painful for them too, but they were once again not even considering Percy’s feelings, just their own.
The Battle of Hogwarts
I’ve already talked about how Percy apologies for everything, and the other Weasleys apologize for nothing. Not gonna lie, this is realistic to an uncomfortable level. Family members who have been mistreated wind up being the ones to apologize because they miss their family, even though they often aren’t completely to blame. But this is probably never going to be addressed because immediately after the reconciliation, Fred died. Just imagine how much undeserved guilt Percy felt about that. And then look to the epilogue where there’s one final humorous moment about Harry seeing Percy at King’s Cross and making a mental note to avoid him. Literally nothing has changed. Percy is still the joke of the family. He’s just accepted it because without them, he’s alone. He’s learned to see himself as the problem, and not them.
...I am such a nerd. But I hope you can see where I’m coming from as well. Again, I love The Weasleys. I adore Fred and George. But Percy is not, and was never a bad guy. In some ways, he’s my favorite Weasley. I do love his character arc. But...I just...I wish there had been some apology from the twins as well.

Idk I can't picture L actively killing, seems out of character. Since he's apparently not compelled to solve cases out of any moral obligation, I don't see him being desperate enough to do something as drastic as killing a suspect. The Kira case might be different, since his ass was on the line, but I still can't imagine him doing it. "But although the cliche says that power always corrupts, what is seldom said ... is that power always reveals." He is already a pretty powerful guy, rich (cont.)
(cont.) rich and accountable to no one, unlike Light at the beginning of the series. I think that if he was the kind that would murder to solve a case, the lack of a Death Note wouldn't be the thing stopping him. I'm not sure if he wouldn't idk kill a hostage that he sees as more of a liability tho 👀 am I crazy to think that?
Also, in small addition. I'm under the suspicion that "if we are wrong, then we just have to say sorry" is the kinda of bs that Near would've learned from L, and murder is not exactly something that you could just apologize for. That last one wasn't a point, just a fun headcanon. Sorry for spamming your ask box.
Thanks for the thoughts, I think you're right in that he normally wouldn't go that far to solve a case! It's true that he's already super powerful and not accountable to most people in canon, so he probably could've gotten away with murder already if he wanted to. But if he had used the notebook out of curiosity and then found out it actually worked, he would have to consider the fact that he was now a murderer already and know that he had this very sneaky and fairly undetectable method of doing away with people as a weapon in his arsenal. I think it depends on the circumstances and how far L is being pushed or what's at stake for how tempted he might be to ever use it for the first time, or use it again in the future. I dunno, it's harder for me to imagine L testing out the notebook on his own the same way Light did or other characters might. In canon he wanted to test it using death row inmates to do the writing in it and such instead. I don't think he would take life to solve a case unless it was an extreme situation, but I also don't believe he sees himself as a morally upright person, nor often feels tons of guilt for anything he does. I think it's highly situational with L for stuff like this, so hard for me to elaborate on without specific circumstances to refer to.
I also think that sounds a bit like something L might say as good advice to Near, haha. His apologies in the manga were rare and usually seemed more like a "cover my ass so I can't be called out for something" type response than sincere regret for his actions to me.

@whumptober2019 Day 9: Shackled
Fandom: MCU, Avengers Characters: Tony Stark/Steve Rogers, Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff, Bruce Banner, Thor Tags: Kidnapped, Hurt Steve, Team as Family, Skrulls, Angst Chapters: 2/?, Words: 7.280
Summary: Steve and Tony’s favourite pastime is yelling at each other. After a mission, Steve appears changed, but Tony is so glad they are finally becoming something like friends that he does not question it too much. That makes it almost too easy for the Skrulls to infiltrate the Avengers.
---
When Steve comes to, he is still feeling lost. He does not often lose consciousness; his body is usually stitching itself together again too quickly. If he is out, it is mostly for mere minutes, leaving him to wake up right where he blackened out.
He does not know where he is, does not remember what he has been doing, what might have happened to knock him out. That in itself is worrying enough.
Groaning, Steve tries to take stock of his condition. He is hurting all over. Enough so that there must have either been serious damage to him or it cannot have happened too long ago. His skin is burning, itching right beneath the surface.
It is dark around him when he finally forces his eyes to stay open. He can see the outlines of a room that is unfamiliar to him. He is lying on a bed, although it is harder than anything the Avengers Tower or Medical have to offer.
Trying to push himself up, Steve hears the clicking of chains before he notices the metal around his wrists and ankles.
Panic hits him immediately, flushing the exhaustion out of his system, even if it does not do anything against the sluggishness of his movements or thoughts. He must be drugged. Drugged and shackled in a dark cell with no idea how he got here or who is responsible.
He distantly remembers the warehouse and the attacking robots. Robots usually mean Dr Doom or hijacked HammerTech. Steve is sure neither of them would want him as a hostage out of all of the Avengers.
Carefully, Steve pulls himself into a sitting position and then to his feet to test how far he can get. It is sobering. Barely two steps away from the bed and the chains go tense, allowing him no more room.
Steve sits back down and tries to loosen the shackle around his left wrist. There is barely enough room to get his fingers underneath that, but it does not matter. He pulls and pulls but the metal does not give. Then he follows the chain to where it is anchored in the wall and tries again. No luck.
His uniform is gone, he does not have any tools, not enough strength to get himself free, and no idea where he is. Steve does not do well with sitting idly. For now, though, it does not seem like he has any other option.
A splitting pain jolts Steve awake, sitting right inside his skull. It is still dark around him but it is almost like he is seeing flashes in front of him.
There is their communal living room in the tower. His friends shuffling off to rest.
“Good job today,” Steve’s voice says, and Steve catches a glimpse of surprise on Stark’s face.
Whatever drug the kidnappers have given him must be potent if it makes him imagine an amicable conversation with Stark.
Steve reaches up to test whether he has any head wounds that might explain the headache. As he moves, something stretches against his neck. At first, he thinks it is merely the chain, but when he touches it, it is a metal band circling around his throat. It is light enough that he is not surprised he did not notice it earlier, and it is strangely warm. He pulls at it, slightly more desperately than on the shackles. It does not budge.
Drugged, shackled, and collared. Steve does not like where that leaves him.
 ---
“Good job,” Steve says when they are filtering into the living room of the tower.
It has Tony stopping in his tracks, it comes that unexpected. The mission certainly was not a complete mess, but they did let their Captain go into a warehouse on his own where he was almost blown up.
“Are you sure you didn’t hit your head earlier?” Tony asks, only half-joking. He even talked to Steve right before it happened and did not do anything anyway.
Steve still looks a little rough. He moves slowly like he is hurting and his armour is ripped in places, hanging off him almost as if it never really fit. Most glaringly, he is holding the shield at a strange angle, slightly away from himself like he does not want to chance bumping into it. Probably due to the burns. And Tony is sure he cannot see all of them.
“I mean it,” Steve says, sounding even cheerful. “The robots are all gone. We had no casualties. Nobody even needs to go to Medical.”
It certainly could have been worse. Looking back, it did not even seem much like an attack at all. Just like someone stored their robots and they broke out of their crates, wreaking a bit of havoc without being interested in doing any serious damage. It could have been a test, of course, to see how the Avengers would deal with that, but they have proven their worth against much more serious enemies. It does not exactly make much sense.
“Perhaps you should,” Tony cautions, still feeling slightly guilty for having left Steve on his own. “Being so close to that second explosion –”
“I have a few scratches,” Steve cuts him off and shrugs with his entire body as if to show how very fine he is. “The serum will take care of that.”
Implied in that is that, without the serum, Steve would be in trouble.
“I’m sorry for letting you go in there on your own,” Tony says.
The surprise on Steve’s face rankles him. He can apologize if he has to, if he was in the wrong. Steve usually starts yelling before they can establish whether or not Tony thinks his decision was still merited by the time they get out.
“You did what I asked,” Steve reassures him and even goes so far as to smile at Tony. “Nothing happened.”
Tony frowns. He is not used to getting off so easily. “It’s just –”
“If you don’t mind, I could really do with a shower right now,” Steve says. Now it seems like he really just wants to keep them from starting an argument. “We’ll see you for dinner?”
Tony is taken aback. That sounded suspiciously like Steve is giving him his blessing to vanish into his workshop without having to sit through some boring debriefing. Everybody knows that, once Tony locks himself up down there, nothing brings him back up before he is not done with his work or his coffee has run out.
He is not going to test his luck, though. If he does not leave now, Steve is going to remember that Tony flew right up ahead of the entire team again, throwing himself at the problem at hand without anyone’s say so. He has no desire to continue their earlier argument.
“Dinner sounds fine,” Tony calls out while he is already leaving. He is pretty sure he will not come up for any meal, but he has learned not to poke the bear.
 ---
The peace does not last long. Tony is not surprised but still disappointed. It is like neither Steve nor he ever got over that first meeting on the Helicarrier. No matter the good moments they had in between, they are still facing off more often than not.
Tony, of course, has a long history of both loving and hating Captain America, of looking up to him and cursing his very existence. Howard only ever stoked that fire, and Tony has always had problems with letting go of the past.
Being part of a team is hard for him. Trust has never come easy to him, and he has been betrayed more often than not. Steve was not wrong when he said that Tony is not the hero type. Tony might be in this to do good, but he will always scramble to make up for his mistakes.
Tony has barely pulled up the schematics of the suit to see whether he cannot increase the heat resistance in case of another explosion on the field when JARVIS announces that Steve is standing outside the workshop. It is not hard to guess what he wants, it is just strange that he postponed the yelling until the rest of the team has left.
The workshop is Tony’s sanctuary. He tries to keep his problems outside of it. Or, at least, he does not invite them in.
Still, he tells JARVIS, “Let him in.” Then he turns towards the door, awaiting his doom with open eyes.
“Tony,” Steve greets, his expression friendly in a way it seldom is when he looks at Tony. “Do you have a few minutes?”
Something is wrong here. A smile instead of a frown. A question instead of a demand. Steve really should have his head looked at. Even with an enhanced healing factor, a concussion is nothing to tread lightly. Already, Steve is showing worrisome behaviour.
“I don’t think you’ve ever called me Tony before,” Tony blurts out, unable to make sense of what Steve is trying to do here.
They are not adversaries anymore like they were on the Helicarrier, constantly fighting to get the upper hand while not extending the slightest bit of trust. They are not friends either. On the field, they work well together, and they can play nice even off of it. They still communicate mostly in raised voices, constantly expecting another blow.
“Well, let’s call it a gift for good behaviour,” Steve says and grins like they do this all the time, trading jokes, being close.
“Next you’ll be trying to feed me treats,” Tony counters, still wary but deciding to test how far Steve’s strange mood will let them get.
Steve looks down at his hands as if he is disappointed he did not bring anything. “If that gets you to eat every now and then,” he says.
Up until now, it has mostly been Bruce and Clint bringing Tony food down to the workshop, while Steve simply complained that Tony does not seem to take being a team seriously. Tony never thought Steve cared whether he misses meals.
“Are you sure you’re all right?” Tony asks, looking Steve over.
The cuts and burns from earlier are already vanishing and JARVIS surely would have noticed if something was really wrong with Steve. He sees the frown settling on Steve’s face before it has fully formed and is hit by immediate regret. It is seldom enough that Steve and he are getting along. He should not throw away his chances just because he cannot believe his luck and is almost resigned already to remaining at odds with his childhood hero.
“Never mind,” Tony retracts quickly. “What do you need?”
He is certain it is too late, that he burned another bridge Steve has been building for them. Instead, Steve’s face brightens as he comes further into the workshop.
“I was wondering whether you could look at my uniform. It’s –” he says. If Tony would not know better, he would say Steve’s ears are getting a bit red. “You know.”
“Garish and outdated?” Tony quips immediately as he gets to his feet. “Cap, I’ve been telling you for ages. What made you change your mind?”
Tony has a dozen ideas for Steve’s armour ready. Ever since he saw the horrible thing SHIELD procured, which appeared to have been made more to commemorate the good old days than to offer protection, Tony knew he had to do something about that. Only Steve never let him, deciding he was either too good for anything Tony made or he did not want to owe Tony. Whatever it was, Tony is giddy at the prospect of being allowed to make it better now.
“It didn’t help much with the explosion,” Steve explains, sounding ashamed as if that was his fault. “And I didn’t want to bother you.”
“Bother me?” Tony asks. No one else on the team refused his services, smart enough not to say no to free upgrades. “Have you changed place with an alternate version of yourself? No, don’t answer that. I happen to like it that we’re not yet yelling at each other.”
It feels strange, too. Mostly because it is like Tony has to be the one doing all the reassuring for once. Steve should not be uncertain around him – and he usually is not, considering that he loves telling Tony everything he is doing wrong. He apparently does not like to ask for anything, though.
“I’m sorry for that,” Steve says and sounds like he means it.
This feels too much like Steve came too close to getting actually harmed in that warehouse, thus reconsidering his relationships with his team members. Tony does not think that Steve is the only one who made mistakes, but he does not exactly like that Steve is apologizing directly after a mission. Especially considering that they went into it arguing like usual.
“Huh. I guess I’m sorry too.” Tony is not sure what is happening, but he does not want to ruin it by questioning it too much. They will either go back to normal in no time, or Tony will find out what this is about. “Now, I have some ideas for better armour for you. Anytime you want to join me in the workshop, we can talk about it.”
Steve looks relieved as if he thought Tony would refuse him. “Well, I’ve eaten and showered, so if it’s all right with you, I’m all yours right now.”
Tony can only watch in wonder as Steve comes closer and sits down on one of the chairs, slightly eager and looking like he belongs here. Captain America in the workshop of the futurist. Stranger things have surely happened, but Tony still feels out of his depth.
Still, he claps his hand and does not have to put too much effort into being able to smile.
“All right, Cap, don’t tell me I didn’t warn you,” he says and closes his current project. “I’m going to blow your mind.”
“I very much hope so,” Steve replies without missing a beat.
No matter his doubts, Tony has never backed down from a challenge. So, without further ado, they get to work.
 ---
The new armour is a piece of art. Mostly because they have done away with the too patriotic paint job – and Tony has taken the liberty of making it a little bit more formfitting than the old one. If anyone asked, he would deny having checked out their esteemed leader, but to put an ass like that into the old USO outfit should be considered a capital crime. He just hopes no one on the team will point it out before Tony has had an opportunity to see it in action.
Working together on a project was fun. Tony did have several blueprints lying around already and Steve mostly just insisted on keeping maximum agility. While a bit more protection is needed, he does have his shield – which he does use to keep himself from harm when he does not throw it like a glorified frisbee.
They spent three hours without arguing. Without even coming close to an argument. Tony thinks that must be a personal record. Even Pepper cannot go that long without getting annoyed by something he does. It is mostly a well-established character trait at this point.
When Tony emerges from the workshop two days later, the finished suit in hand, he does not know what time it is. It is dark outside, but he frankly does not want to ask JARVIS. He has a gift to deliver and he cannot wait until morning.
After he knocks on Steve’s door, it takes a while for Steve to answer. That has Tony almost reconsidering his unannounced visit, but he does not just quit when he has made up his mind.
When Steve finally opens the door, he does not look like he has been already sleeping. He is wearing comfortable clothes but his eyes are alert.
“Tony, what are you doing here?” he asks, the beginnings of a frown marring his forehead. “It’s late.”
“I know,” Tony answers quickly, then clicks his tongue. “Well, actually I don’t know. But I wanted to bring you this.”
He holds out his hands with the suit like he is making an offering. And he is. His relationship with Steve consists of more downs than ups, and he does not want to ruin the good rapport they managed to establish over the past days.
“The suit,” Steve says. His entire face brightens as he takes it off Tony. “It’s ready?”
“Of course.” Tony shrugs, unable to hide his smile. “It was a priority.”
Steve holds it up to look at it in its entirety, putting the boots to the ground where he looks them over with a grin. “I see you didn’t go with the repulsor boots.”
Steve, as Tony discovered, has a sense of humour. Not the obvious, charming one he uses on strangers and journalists. Not the sassy, slightly dark one he uses in private when they are allowing themselves to let go. He is also prone to the kind of self-deprecating jokes that leave everyone wondering whether he might not have been serious after all.
The USO turned him into a mascot. They had him dance over a stage, mock-punch enemies, and generally make himself very visible. When offered any special features for his armour, he suggested repulsors to allow him to jump even faster into danger.
“Can’t have you showing all of us up,” Tony says as if Steve is not doing so anyway. “Before you ask, I didn’t devise a repulsor beam for the shield either. That thing is a safety hazard all on its own.”
Tony does not know where Steve’s sudden obsession with the suit’s weapon array comes from, but he cannot help but feel slightly flattered. So much disdain between has come from the fact that Steve does not think that the Iron Man suit makes Tony fit to be on a team of heroes.
“That’s a shame,” Steve jokes. “I still want to try it on.”
He turns around but leaves the door open in an obvious invitation. Tony hesitates to come in, but then he scolds himself for making things weird. This is a team thing. Steve is not inviting him in so Tony can ogle him, just to make sure the suit fits.
That does not mean he can keep his eyes off Steve’s muscles when Steve shrugs off his clothes, putting himself casually on display, and puts on the new armour. Tony barely even has time to mourn the sudden lack of skin to see before Steve stands before him, looking ready for battle.
The suit fits. Of course, it does. Thanks to Howard’s obsession with Steve – which might just be a hereditary defect – Tony had Steve’s measurements before they even ended up on a team together. While Steve goes through some stretches, Tony allows himself to appreciate the way the fabric hugs Steve’s muscles.
“How does it feel?” Tony asks, barely giving any mind to his own words, too busy with looking.
In his defence, Steve usually only wears his armour when they are out fighting, and Tony does not have any time to stare then. But this is Captain America as if he stepped right out of one of the posters Tony used to have in his room as a child.
“Perfect,” Steve says and hums as he moves. Then, with a mischievous grin, he asks, “How does it look?”
Tony’s staring must have been too obvious. “Are you fishing for compliments?” he asks right back, trying to save face.
“Only if you’re going to indulge me.”
Tony does not know what is happening. Surely, Steve is not flirting with him. That is too much change in too little time. Three days ago, they have been yelling at each other every chance they got. Sudden peace is strange enough, even if they are both trying. But flirting? Perhaps he is reading too much into this.
“Well, we’ll have to see how it holds up out in the field,” Tony says, firmly changing the topic. “Tell me if there’s anything that needs changing.”
Steve nods, but when Tony turns towards the door, he comes close. Tony almost shies away but finds himself rooted in space when Steve puts a hand on his shoulder.
“Thank you,” Steve says slowly, looking at Tony’s lips before he drags his eyes up. “I know we’ve been arguing a lot, but I hope you know that I’m glad we’re on the same team. I’m glad we’re here together.”
They are too close, the room is too warm, Tony’s heart is beating too fast. It must be his imagination that Steve is leaning towards him and that he is glancing at Tony’s mouth as if he thinks about kissing him.
Tony’s childhood crush is messing with his present and he cannot have that. He cannot ruin this sudden amicable atmosphere between Steve and himself. For the past days, it has felt like they could be friends. Tony is going to hold onto that as hard as he can.
“I’m glad, too,” Tony manages to say. It sounds a bit choked but Steve does not look like he noticed. “Now, I’ll let you get to bed. I know what they say about old people not needing so much sleep anymore, but I don’t want to be responsible for keeping you up.”
With that, he all but flees. He still hears Steve laughing quietly in his back, but he does not turn around. It is called a tactical retreat. He has to think about what just happened before he is jumping to any conclusions.
 ---
The next evening, Tony purposely chooses not to go back to the workshop after dinner but goes to the living room with the rest of the team. They have official movie nights, but some of them usually come together every day. That is one of the upsides of living together with a team. Loneliness is much easier to battle.
“Something’s wrong with Cap,” Tony says when Steve has already gone to bed and he is sitting on the couch with Natasha and Clint. If anyone might have noticed something strange going on, it would be their resident wonder spies.
They are watching some mindless action movie that does not require even half of their attention to keep up with.
“What have you done now?” Natasha asks, looking at him with a mixture of fondness and annoyance. At least Tony hopes it is fondness. It is not so easy to tell with her.
“I’ve been my usual self,” Tony protests, knowing that is not exactly a ringing endorsement. “But have you heard any yelling?”
They cannot have. Since that first evening in the workshop, he has not gotten into a single argument with Steve. Not over who took the last cup of coffee or over being too late to meetings or over slacking during training.
It has been downright harmonic in the tower lately, and Tony cannot help but feel nervous about that.
“Are you complaining about not arguing with Steve?” Clint asks, barely looking away from the screen. He is grinning and likely already thinking of to exploit that newfound peace.
Tony sighs. He does not particularly want to go back to their old way of dealing with things. It is just strange how quickly everything changed. “I’m saying that he is not rising to any bait while I usually don’t even have to try to make him angry at me.”
“So he’s trying to keep the peace,” Natasha says, raising an eyebrow at him. Out of everyone, she probably knows the best why Tony has issues with Captain America. She did research him pretty well before she came to spy on him, and therefore knows things that are not in his official file.
“No.” Tony shakes his head, unable to believe it is just that. Steve is not the type to just give up, and Tony has not changed one bit. He is still reckless and loud and always needs to have the last word.
“Tony?”
How is Tony supposed to tell them that, just the night before, Steve came very close to kissing Tony? Or it looked like it at least. Tony might be somewhat delusional, but the more he has thought about it, the less he believes he imagined last night’s tension.
Things like that do not just happen, however. More so, they do not happen to Tony. Not when Captain America is involved, who usually seems incapable of being in the same room with Tony without exuding disapproval in waves.
“Just keep a lookout?” Tony asks and pretends he does not seem them sharing a look.
He does not think Steve is planning something malicious. It is just that things have changed for the better too quickly. Tony is just wary and looking out for his team. Surely there is no fault in that.
And if it turns out that Steve is genuinely interested in being Tony’s friend – or more – Tony will be the last to protest. That would be a childhood dream come true. He is just not used to believing in that.

PLEASE READ THIS!
This was an email sent to my husband following an unsuccessful interaction with Amherst Funeral and Cremation Services. I've got to say, I love how badly they treat grieving parents, especially moms.
Amherst writes
Thank you for your email. I just arrived back in the office from services yesterday when I left you a voicemail. I was out all last week for family emergency. I was going to reach out to you specifically in regards to this matter.
Amherst writes
Fionn's cremated remains and death certificates have been ready to be shipped out via Canada Post since last week, while I was away (Again, my staff Carla simply called your wife to confirm address and delivered our standard procedure to ask payment prior to sending as per contract signed, payments are due at the time of arrangement).
My response
Okay, let me stop you there, she wasn’t calling me she was calling someone else; because, once again, one more person on your staff couldn’t get my/our name right. YOU were supposed to handle this yourself.
Amherst writes
So I don't appreciate your wife accusing my staff of taking Fionn's ashes hostage. That wasn't what happened. We dealt with hundreds of families with same procedure and all of them never made such negative interpretations.
My response
SUCH HYPERBOLE! Bull shit. What about the time you sent a customer their loved one’s ashes and the delivery person wanted a tip and wasn’t going to leave until he got one?
That’s exactly how I FELT! We had a prior agreement to have them shipped directly. After your staff member got my name wrong and I had to correct her several times, she was asking for payment!
We can’t ship them unless you pay…her words, NOT MINE! In addition, you and your staff have the WORST COMMUNICATION! I thought you gave them a stern talking to? Sure you did, you’re full of shite!
That’s not what we’d agreed upon. YOU were supposed to handle EVERYTHING Scott. How would you feel if you were treated this way,?? I’ve read the reviews of families for whom you provided a service for and they were mistreated in pretty much the same way.
Your low ratings are proof of that. If you want to skate by on ratings, accolades and cards, Go nuts, however; for the people who are treated in the manner in which WE were treated, I say, get off you high horse!
You don’t appreciate that? Okay, you and your staff started this nonsense your staff obviously doesn’t give a shit about our name and our son’s name. Is this the best you can do Scott, really? You’re quite the mean girl!
Amherst writes
We will ship Fionn's ashes today (November 20, 2019). Once we have completed the shipment, we will email you the Canada Post tracking number. The package will have an original invoice. Please call our main number extension 105 for Kisha and she'll take your credit card information and process accordingly.
My response
The interactions were DEFINITELY DISRESPECTFUL. When the above noted staff member called to ask for clothes on October 30 for our son for the viewing on. October 31, she called him by the wrong name and then proceeded to TALK OVER ME! No ownership and no apology at that point. You think that’s ok? Then, to add insult to injury, you yourself said “I gave her strict talking to” Apparently that means NOTHING to you and your staff. When she called about the remains, I was shocked. You told us they would ship and we would’ve received them on November 4, no call was necessary and yes, it came across as holding on to them. The term held hostage comes from how both Nick and I felt.
Learn how to pronounce people’s names and improve your communication.
So now, once again you’re back-pedalling. First you apologize backhandedly, and then you pile on with lies!
All the while presenting youself as an upstanding business man who truly cares about people and their departed loved ones. BULLSHIT!
Amherst writes
kindly ask if you could do this yourself (and no longer involve your wife in this process) as there has been 2 interactions with different staff members that were unfortunate, but with no intentions of disrespect were ever meant by them. Again, these are the same staff whose other families rave about how caring and left warm notes about. There were clearly misinterpretations of their well-meaning intents. To add, both Carla and Juanita had lost family members themselves quite recently.
My response
Have you ever been married? Partnered in a long term relationship?
Did you honestly think that my husband wasn’t going to share this email with me? Kudos, you’re the meanest passive aggressive mean girl EVER!
You’ve obviously never had children nor had to lay a child to rest. Your business tactics are appalling. Wait, what business are you in again? Oh yeah, well, kind of hard know that because, you think your clients are responsible for your staff’s bereavement.
I don’t really care about your staff members’ losses. Healing your staff is not OUR JOB Scott, Quite frankly; OUR SON DIED and we were paying you for a service.
Not my monkeys, not my circus.
We wanted to pay you when we were in Vancouver, but, nooooo, you said I’ll ship the death certificates along with the invoice and cremated remains. Wow
I’m so glad we didn’t entrust you with our son’s obituary. You probably would’ve messed that up too.
I am SO thankful for Ethical Death Care in Winnipeg. Had I known your company would be such a disrespectful shit show, I would’ve had our son flown to Winnipeg for EVERYTHING!

I understand that this is a very difficult time for the family and I hope that sending Fionn home to you will start the healing process.
My response
No you don’t because you wouldn’t have sent this snot-filled drivel to my husband. If you have a problem with me and what I said to your staff, then address it with me…I don’t’ trust business people who are incapable of confronting a difficult situation and customer. You probably have a stronger word for me and that makes me very happy!
Please, save your condescending crap for another family who buys into your shit

I thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation. Should you have any questions or concerns, please kindly contact me directly.
Kind regards,( don’t say it if you don’t ‘mean it)
And finally, you have the audacity to leave my name off of the shipment of my baby’s ashes. You really are a hateful little, troll Scott.

I don't know if this question has been asked before, but... When the villains captured bakugou and he yelled at midorya to not follow him, do you think it was because he was worried about deku or because he didn't want his help?
This...is a complicated answer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(apologies for the bad screenshots)
This is not simply a yes or no answer to me. In a way, I would say “yes” to both options. Yes, Bakugou did not want Midoriya to come because he did not want his help. Yes, Bakugou did not want Midoriya to come because it was unsafe and a really bad idea for Midoriya to jump into the warp with them.
In a way, this is asking me to personalize where I can’t. I can’t step into Horikoshi’s mind nor Bakugou’s, but I would say that it is worth nothing how Bakugou says “Don’t come, Deku” obviously he says it in Japanese but the meaning is very similar.
I actually went and rewatched these episodes just to answer this question and my first reaction remains the same: Bakugou shoved Midoriya out for both reasons and more.
Bakugou is a smart guy and this had already happened:
Tumblr media
Bakugou would know already know about this, it would be mostly common knowledge that this happened if Bakugou didn’t have strict details. And really, you don’t need to hear anything more than “that crusty hand guy held Deku hostage for like 20 minutes.”
And now Bakugou has Midoriya like this running at him???
Tumblr media
It’s unclear in the manga and anime whether or not being shrunk by Compress makes one lose consciousness. And it almost doesn’t matter what the answer is. Bakugou is aware that Midoriya was held hostage and now Midoriya is running at him with BOTH arms in casts, a beat up face, and no shirt? ?????NU UH, Bakugou is NOT letting him jump into the warp.
Let me remind everyone of the order of time, this is before “Deku VS Kacchan: Part II”. This is before Midoriya’s quirk was cleaned up for Bakugou, this is before Bakugou knew anything about OFA. So that’s even more reason that Bakugou would not want Midoriya’s help out of both of their safety.
Why do I make this distinction?
Bakugou is not simple enough to simply say “he wanted Midoriya out of the warp to protect him” because I am not certain that statement is entirely true. Had Midoriya been in better fighting shape, Bakugou might have very well wanted Midoriya to join him.
I wish I could attach audio files to my posts because I would love for you to hear Bakugou say “Don’t come, Deku” as I tell you that this action alone was Bakugou’s form of selflessness. That this is what told me that Best Jeanist and LOV and everyone else was generally wrong about him.
I say this was an act of selflessness because it would have been smarter for Bakugou to hand Midoriya over. It would have been better for Midoriya to be in his cards when he was taken. However, Bakugou very clearly becomes distressed and sees Midoriya rushing at him, and his choices aren’t to scream and shout, his choice wasn’t to blow up (as I thought he would) Instead, he lets himself be taken with a guttural sentence that’s almost a whisper. It’s a warning.
Bakugou has no idea what LOV has planned for him. Not a single one. He just knows that they’re after “Kacchan” That’s all he has to go on. I don’t take him going with Dabi and Compress as Horikoshi showcasing Bakugou’s pride, I take it as Horikoshi showcasing Bakugou’s selflessness. For all Bakugou knows, his death is waiting on the other side of that warp and he doesn’t do anything to fight once he is un-compressed (or, decompressed, as I like to be a Scientist(tm)) His choice to not fight is, in a way, Bakugou rolling over and letting Dabi take him. He could have fought. I see no reason why Bakugou couldn’t have fought even with Dabi’s hand around his neck. Bakugou has been shown to bite, hit, scratch, scream, yell, punch, kick, just about anything no matter whose hands are on him. The fact that Dabi’s hands are there mean little to me. Dabi can’t turn Bakugou to dust by laying down his last finger. He might burn him, but what does Bakugou care if he gets burned?
Some people like to take this as Bakugou getting “pay back” for the sludge monster thing. I kinda see that argument but it just doesn’t hold much water. I don’t think Bakugou would accept a win of escaping on his own from LOV like that. I don’t think he’d take that as a win. It wouldn’t be how things went. Think of Bakugou’s fight with Todoroki, if Bakugou had thought that Midoriya being there would have changed the odds in his favor, Bakugou probably wouldn’t take it as a win. He wouldn’t like the idea that he hadn’t flat-out won no matter the circumstances. I don’t see a personal grudge for the sludge monster any longer.
But why do I keep mentioning Bakugou’s selflessness? Because if Bakugou had fought in the warp, he likely would have escaped or at least drawn out the process longer. Endangering others. I’ve said it before but Bakugou is a group leader, his main drawback is that he gets so focused on a goal that he will mow down his own people. In this case, his own people is himself. The goal isn’t to escape, the goal isn’t to fight Dabi or Compress or anything. To fight them would be to endanger the entire group, it’s best for Bakugou to go with them. I think, in that moment, Bakugou is willing to die for the cause but he simply doesn’t die. LOV wants him alive (and they very stupidly go about talking to him but that’s not the point of this meta.)
If you want my shipper answer: however romantic it might seem, this actually harpers on a romance that is far more romantic than the “oh, he’s saving Midoriya the pain~!” or whatever. There are later developments in the newer chapters between these two and fights (but spo!lers so i won’t go into that.) In being captured by LOV, Bakugou actually gets to see Midoriya in a lot of real-life fighting and gains a lot of respect for Midoriya’s way of fighting. Here, Bakugou is putting an end to Midoriya’s fight, he’s snuffing it out before Midoriya gets killed. That, on the surface, might not sound romantic but hear me out: Bakugou is likely aware that the group (Class 1-A) cannot survive without Midoriya. They would lose a star fighter and a driving force.
Bakugou gives his own head up in place for Midoriya’s on the chopping block. If that ain’t an angsty romantic gesture.........boy howdy, I don’t know what to tell you. (and the gesture gets more romantic with later chapters aaaa shit boy it’s some good fucking food horikoshi (accidentally) is handing out!)
TL;DR : (imo) Bakugou is both worried for Midoriya’s well being as well as the entire group’s. It’s not simply concern that he does it for though. Bakugou is too complex of a person to simply have one answer. The way I write it, Bakugou stubbornly chose to take the answer that would save the group, but I do believe that Bakugou seeing Midoriya so beaten was a factor in his calculations (however subconscious they may be.) It likely startled Bakugou and probably hurt him to see Midoriya so defeated and continuing, however, I am not certain that it would have been the only factor in Bakugou’s decision making.
Bakugou didn’t want Midoriya’s help for a number of reasons, mainly because of his concern and his drive to keep the group alive and moving.

hi! i'm sorry if you've answered this before (and tbh, i don't really know if this is the sorta thing you do answer, and if it's not sorry!) but i was wondering what the effect of mccree being groomed to take over blackwatch would have on his relationship with genji at first, since in genji's past life hanzo was being groomed to take over and ended up killing genji bc of it. idk i just thought it was an interesting question on their relationship! (i love all your metas!! i'm a big fan!!)
I haven’t answered this before, and this absolutely the sort of thing I answer! I’m sorry I’m really scattered, and I do need to think about this a little more, but here’s a quick runthrough of some initial thoughts. A lot of this is set-up, honestly. Apologies for the length
To get the disclaimers out of the way, it’s somewhat unclear the exact extent of the mentor-student relationship, the place McCree had in the Blackwatch hierarchy, if McCree was second-in-command, and if he was expected to serve as Blackwatch Commander in the future whether directly succeeding Reyes or later. The assumptions I make here are just that: assumptions made in the course of what I speculate is The Deal™ here.
To get the set-up out of the way, and clarify what anon and I are working with here. These are the assumptions I’m making: I typically characterize the relationship between Reyes and McCree as beyond that of mentor-student. McCree, by the time of Retribution, appears to function as Blackwatch second-in-command, and I believe that the “potential” Reyes saw in McCree was that of future command. As a result, Reyes spent years raising McCree to be his successor. However, given indications that McCree is not the ambitious type (see: interactions with Ashe), McCree may have resisted attempts to groom him into becoming future Blackwatch Commander. I can elaborate on this point elsewhere, but I’ll move on
It really depends on the dynamic between McCree and Reyes in comparison to Hanzo and Sojiro / the rest of the family. Though Sojiro was an indulgent father to Genji, I imagine he was much stricter with Hanzo.
In contrast, McCree and Reyes’ relationship is defined by a mutual trust and respect. The events of Retribution are notable in their relationship because it is a break from the norm, an exception to prove the rule. Reyes trusts McCree to handle important and deeply critical tasks, like case the hostage situation during Uprising and search for Ana in Poland, and to handle these tasks alone. McCree, in turn, typically has faith in Reyes’ leadership decisions and remains loyal in his service. Generally, it’s indicated that McCree was allowed a lot of leeway; after all, a “famous McCree attitude” develops only if Reyes allows it. Reyes might be firm, and sometimes even sharp, with McCree, but McCree is respected as a voice of leadership and is allowed a lot of freedom in his behavior. Reyes does not control McCree, not one bit.
That difference in rapport likely means the world between the tenor of Hanzo being groomed for leadership and McCree. Really, I think it might actually be surprising to Genji the amount of latitude McCree is given despite being groomed as the future Blackwatch Commander. It might actually force Genji to reflect further on his familial dynamics seeing the relationship between Reyes and McCree.
On another note, Genji, unlike in his family, is not expected to aid in leadership. In fact, Genji is purposefully left out of the loop; for example, he doesn’t know why Antonio is significant to the Talon structure until after he’s killed. Genji was nearly killed for his refusal to step up to leadership. There is no such expectation for Genji within Blackwatch. So, Genji wouldn’t have to worry about repeating that fight with Hanzo in McCree because the expectation of what Genji’s role is in this organization, and how the future leader is expected to ensure Genji performs that role, is very different in Blackwatch. Nothing about how McCree is being groomed for command sets him at odds with Genji in terms of power and organization and role fulfillment.
On the other hand, thinking along lines of Genji’s restrained concern for McCree during Retribution, there is some opening for being concerned that McCree may meet a similar fate if McCree resists Reyes’ attempts to groom him for command. The reassurance, however, would come in Reyes continuing to trust and respect McCree as an agent despite any resistance McCree may have to expectations that he is Reyes’ successor.
I think with all that it wouldn’t necessarily weigh negatively on the relationship between Genji and McCree. Unlike with Hanzo and Sojiro and the rest of the family, the relationship between McCree and Reyes has no space for Genji, and neither McCree nor Reyes are interested in inviting Genji into that specific dynamic between them—so, it’s largely outside of the relationship with McCree and Genji.
There might be something in that life has gifted McCree the function version of a relationship that nearly killed Genji. And there might be moments of misdirected bitterness at McCree for it or push Genji to be distant, but it isn’t that Genji is angry or cautious of McCree because he is a successor, it’s that Genji is lashing out because that Reyes-McCree relationship forces him to think about how his familial circumstances were unfair. I don’t think that would last overly long, though, as it isn’t McCree’s fault Genji’s family was dysfunctional.
I don’t think, overall, it’d be particularly heavy on the relationship or long-lasting. If anything, it would be a mirror in which Genji understands how broken the relationships in his own family were, and he might treat McCree some type of way over that for a while, but I don’t think it lasts.

Fox reports on a CBS reporter.
My thoughts on the exchange... Joe Biden is in a high stress state of mind and as a highly intelligent human, he finds annoyance and bull shit.
Clearly CBS wanted an exclusive and complete coverage on a issue that didn't involve him and is trivial to what is going on in the world.
What kind of person are you that doesn't apologize, Joe??! How dare you.
So as far as the "attack and assault" he was verbally attacked first. So he showed the reporter what his behavior is from his mouth with his hands because it is obvious that the reporter doesn't listen or pay attention.
I think it showed great compassion and care on Joe Biden's part. Because i would said "i already addressed that go back and read it, fuck off. I ain't got time for that shit. My brain has surpassed yours. Catch up"
Which isn't compassionate at all. Reading Joe Biden's words they were not callous nor rude but fatherly. A father that doesn't hug regularly, albeit, but who even gets hugs these days any more?
He deals daily with stress that would blow most peoples minds but he takes the time to put a perspective on a question that has been addressed and isn't even important. In the points of political divide it's common to argue and have issues with the other political participants running for President.
Would you want a president that ignores you? Tells you to fuck off like i would, or takes the time to tell you personally what he sees you doing to him?
And yes I would say fuck off. My mind stsys very busy and so something so boring, trivial and invested in drama is ridiculous. Or I would say "what the fuck do you want from me? I'm human"
Why is always on our minds. We are hearing people crying "why was i kidnapped by the police and held hostage in a factory?" "Why was i kidnapped and raped?"
Why. Why is asked a lot. And the problem is there is no good answer.
So don't ask why to something you have the answer to is my advice.
We have much more important why to answer than Bernie and Joe drama. Bernie is a strong wise man. He can handle a bit of flux. Just like Joe.
So CBS if you can't play with the big boys, stay in the office.

These are the consequences of war. Donald Trump and the leadership of Iran have the blood of innocent Iranians, Canadian, Swiss and Ukrainians on their hands because of their chest pounding rhetoric and actions. Remember the basic law of physics: EVERY ACTION HAS A REACTION.
IRANIAN MISSILE SYSTEM SHOT DOWN UKRAINE FLIGHT, PROBABLY BY MISTAKE, SOURCES SAY
By Naveed Jamali , James LaPorta , Chantal Da Silva and Tom O'Connor On 1/09/20 at
The Ukrainian flight that crashed just outside the Iranian capital of Tehran was struck by an anti-aircraft missile system, a Pentagon official, a senior U.S. intelligence official and an Iraqi intelligence official told Newsweek.
Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, a Boeing 737–800 en route from Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airpot to Kyiv's Boryspil International Airport, stopped transmitting data Tuesday just minutes after takeoff and not long after Iran launched missiles at military bases housing U.S. and allied forces in neighboring Iraq. The aircraft is believed to have been struck by a Russia-built Tor-M1 surface-to-air missile system, known to NATO as Gauntlet, the three officials, who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter, told Newsweek.
One Pentagon and one U.S. senior intelligence official told Newsweek that the Pentagon's assessment is that the incident was accidental. Iran's anti-aircraft were likely active following the country's missile attack, which came in response to the U.S. killing last week of Revolutionary Guard Quds Force commander Major General Qassem Soleimani, sources said
"Well, I have my suspicions," President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House following Newsweek's report. "It was flying in a pretty rough neighborhood and someone could have made a mistake."
U.S. Central Command declined to comment on the matter when contacted by Newsweek. No reply was returned from the National Security Council or State Department.
Of the 176 people on board, 82 were Iranian, 63 were Canadian and 11 were Ukrainian (including nine crewmembers), along with 10 Swedish, seven Afghan and three German nationals. None survived.
The incident was first reported by Iranian semi-official media outlets, which cited the country's Red Crescent Society as assessing that the initial cause appeared to be mechanical failure. The Ukrainian embassy in Tehran shared this view in a statement, but later retracted it, with Kyiv warning not to draw conclusions from preliminary assessments.
Images began to circulate Wednesday of what appeared to be fragments of a Tor M-1 missile said to have been found in a suburb southwest of Tehran. Ukraine Security Council Secretary Oleksiy Danylov said Thursday in a statement that contact with a Tor M-1 system was among the potential causes for the plane's destruction that his country was looking into as Ukrainian and Iranian officials met.
Other potential scenarios involved a collision with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or another flying object, technical malfunction and a terrorist attack.
The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran Chief has also invited Canada and Sweden to cooperate in the accident investigation, however, Chief Executive Ali Abedzadeh has stressed that he would not hand over the aircraft's black box—which may provide details of the doomed flight's final moments—to the United States.
Abedzadeh also on Thursday dismissed speculation that a missile strike took down. In a statement, he said this outcome was "scientifically impossible and such rumors make no sense at all."
In a rare call Thursday, Canadian Foreign Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne spoke with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, to whom he "stressed the need for Canadian officials to be quickly granted access to Iran to provide consular services, help with identification of the deceased and take part in the investigation of the crash."
Champagne said that "Canada and Canadians have many questions which will need to be answered."
Asked whether the Canadian government is considering or leading with the possibility that an anti-aircraft missile took down Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, Global Affairs spokesperson Krystyna Dodds said her office would have to get back to Newsweek on the matter.
The Iranian missile strike against Iraqi military positions held by U.S. troops was the latest in a violent series of events involving the two powers. Washington has blamed rocket attacks on Iraqi militias backed by Tehran and responded with deadly border strikes against these fighters, leading to violent protests at the U.S. embassy, an event followed shortly after by Soleimani's assassination.
The two foes have feuded for four decades but rarely confronted one another directly. The U.S. and Iran's dispute dates back to the 1979 Islamic Revolution that outed a West-backed monarchy and saw diplomats taken hostage at Washington's embassy in Tehran for over 14 months.
Their mutual hostility only worsened as the U.S. backed Iraq's invasion of Iran the following year, a deadly eight-year bout accompanied by so-called "tanker wars" in the Persian Gulf. Shortly before the end of the conflict, the U.S. Navy shot down an Iranian passenger plane, Iran Air Flight 655, killing all 290 onboard in a missile strike also deemed accidental.
The Persian Gulf is crucial for the global flow of oil. Unrest has now returned to the critical region and its waterways in the wake of Trump's decision to withdraw from a 2015 nuclear deal that granted Iran sanctions relief in exchange for curbing its nuclear activities. The president opted for de-escalation after the recent Iranian missile attack, expanding sanctions but also calling on the Islamic Republic to give up support for militant groups and to stop seeking a nuclear weapon—something Tehran has always denied wanting.

The U.S. Killed 300 Iranian Citizens. Americans Don't Remember This—But Iranians Do
BY TOM O'CONNOR | Published 07/03/19 AT 8:20 AM EDT | Newsweek | Posted January 09, 2020 |
The downing of a U.S. spy drone, the near-launch of military action against Iran and recent unclaimed attacks against nearby oil tankers in the last month have not only set off tensions in the Persian Gulf, but invoked memories of an even deadlier time in the two rivals' troubled history three decades ago when the U.S. killed nearly 300 Iranian civilians.
The U.S. and Iran have never officially fought a war but the two sides have engaged in bouts of violence since the CIA-backed coup that reinstalled Iran's monarchy in 1953 and the 1979 Islamic Revolution that ousted that leadership for the current cleric-led government. The following decade would prove complex for Washington and Tehran amid the regional volatility of the Iran-Iraq War, during which the U.S. sought to protect Kuwaiti vessels in the Persian Gulf.
The war often spilled over into these narrow, strategic waters, where the guided-missile frigate USS Stark was bombed by a modified Iraqi warplane, killing 37 sailors in May 1987, and fellow warship USS Samuel B. Roberts struck a mine in April 1988.
The U.S. blamed Iran for the latter incident and conducted one of the largest naval operations since World War II, destroying a number of Iranian ships and killing dozens of sailors.
Less than two months later, on July 3, 1988, Aegis-armed guided-missile cruiser USS Vincennes opened fire at what its crew would later claim they thought to be an attacking Iranian F-14 fighter jet.
Instead, the aircraft was Iran Air Flight 655, a Dubai-bound civilian Airbus A300 with 290 people on board—all of whom were killed.
"The incident still resonates with Iranians," Reza H. Akbari, program manager at the U.K.-based Institute for War & Peace Reporting, told Newsweek. "Once a year, the country's state media rebroadcasts the tragic footage of the plane's wreckage and civilian bodies floating in the Persian Gulf. For a few days, heart-wrenching images of family members crying over the loss of their loved ones and painful facts like the number of children on board are reviewed.
"The story matches well with the Islamic Republic's 40-year-narrative of labeling the U.S. as a heartless imperialist power," he added. "To this day, significant portions of the country's authorities do not believe the event was an accident, but a deliberate message sent to Iran over its decision to plant underwater mines in the Persian Gulf amid the Tanker War phase of the Iran-Iraq War. The event is perfect propaganda fodder for the Iranian regime and does not bode well for America's image in the country."
More than three decades later, many feel that justice was never served as, apart from quietly expressing regret and offering $213,103.45 in compensation per passenger the U.S. military has never admitted fault, nor disciplined any of its own for the deadly incident.
ht 655 downing. "I'm not an apologize-for-America kind of guy."
An official report released weeks later by Navy Admiral William Fogarty, determined that USS Vincennes  commanding officer Navy Captain Will Rogers III "acted in a prudent manner," believing he and other U.S. ships present were threatened by the aircraft. It also found "Iran must share the responsibility for the tragedy by hazarding one of their civilian airliners by allowing it to fly at a relatively low altitude air route" during an ongoing battle between the U.S. Navy and Iranian gunboats.
Rogers remained in charge of the warship until the following year, and in 1990, he was awarded for his "meritorious service" between April 1987 to May 1989 as reported at the time by Newsweek. No mention was made of the airliner shootdown and Rogers retired honorably in 1991.
Just one day ahead of the fourth anniversary of the incident in 1992, however, Newsweek compiled an extensive account of how the hours leading up to Iran Air Flight 655's destruction unfolded, detailing a chaotic scene that—based on declassified documents, video and audiotape from the involved ships and over 100 interviews—largely pointed to Rogers being a fault and the Pentagon attempting to cover its tracks. The investigation, conducted alongside ABC News' Nightline, determined, among other things, that the USS Vincennes  had strayed into Iranian territory in an apparent violation of international law—just as Iran claimed the U.S. Navy's spy drone did so last month before being shot down.
Navy Admiral William Crowe, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, challenged the findings of the report in his testimony later that month in July 1992 to the House of Representatives. He said his "main criticism of the ABC-Newsweek treatment, however, is the inflated and outrageous rhetoric employed on the basis of very slim and often mistaken information."
Crowe also disputed that the USS Vincennes was in the wrong for entering Iranian territory amid a reported exchange of fire with the Islamic Republics' gunboats, arguing that "a warship acting in self-defense has the right under international law to enter the aggressor waters to defend itself." He concluded that the Navy "did not, I emphasize did not, at any time cover up, conspire or conduct a secret war, beyond the knowledge of our leaders, and you who are charged as the safekeepers for all the American people."
In the years since, the story of Iran Air Flight 655 was largely forgotten in the U.S., apart from the occasional retrospective feature. In Iran, however, its tragic legacy lives on. Not only of those killed on board, but as Akbari said, "of sad memories from the dark days of the Iran-Iraq War."
At the time, major powers such as the U.S., Soviet Union, France and the United Kingdom all backed Iraqi President Saddam Hussein in his invasion of neighboring Iran, a "new revolutionary government that had little resources and experience," Akbari said.
"Iran's retaliatory power was certainly no match against the United States [back then]," Akbari told Newsweek. "The reality may be the same today, but Iran is doing its best to raise the costs of any aggression by building asymmetrical retaliatory capabilities. Today, Iranian officials emphasize the country's need for defensive capabilities, independence, and territorial integrity."
"Such line of thinking partially stems from incidents such as the downing of Iran Air Flight 655. The country's commanders and politicians do not want to ever be in the same position," Akbari said.
After the downing of the civilian plane, Washington has continued to lead efforts to isolate Tehran, compelling Iranian leaders to seek regional allies. It managed to shore up ties with Iraq following the 2003 invasion by the U.S., an operation in which the Pentagon forced out the very same Iraqi leader it supported in the 1980s based on intelligence that later proved false.
In April, the Trump administration claimed that Iran was responsible for the deaths of more than 600 U.S. troops during the Iraq War and the president himself claimed Iran's use of homemade bombs has "killed 2,000 Americans," though no evidence was presented to support these claims. The U.S. has also argued Iran and its allied militias presented a threat to another murky Pentagon intervention in Syria, the lone Arab nation to back Iran in its 1980s war with Hussein and still a crucial partner today.
A rare break in the two countries'  mutual hostility came in the form of a nuclear deal forged in 2015 by the administrations of then-President Barack Obama and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Under its terms, Iran agreed to severely limit its nuclear activities in exchange for billions of dollars in sanctions relief. The arrangement drew skepticism from hard-liners in both country but was largely welcomed internationally and also endorsed by China, the European Union, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Last year, President Donald Trump  unilaterally pulled out of the deal and left the remaining parties struggling to salvage the agreement as tensions ramped up in the Middle East. With Europe failing to normalize trade ties, Iranian officials announced on May's anniversary of the U.S. exit that they too would be stepping back from some of their commitments, but would do so within the framework of the agreement.
That same month, four commercial vessels—two Saudi, one from Norway and one from the United Arab Emirates—were damaged by explosions in the Gulf of Oman. Almost exactly a month later, two more oil tankers—one Norwegian and one Japanese—were targeted in similar incidents. Iran has denied any wrongdoing, but it did open fire on the U.S.'s unmanned surveillance drone, a decision that initially led Trump to order strikes against Iranian targets. The president later attributed his last-minute decision not to attack to fear of civilian casualties.
As Politico reported Tuesday, Trump's favored news channel, Fox News, featured a report that same night in which retired four-star Army General Jack Keane discussed the "horrific mistake" that was the downing of Iran Air Flight 655.
Revolutionary Guards aerospace commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh too said Friday he showed restraint by not downing a U.S. P-8 Poseidon spy plane carrying 35 personnel that accompanied the ill-fated drone last month.
Conflict may have been averted, but Ragnar Weilandt, an adjunct professor at the Vesalius College Brussels, told Newsweek that, "For Iranians, the hawkish rhetoric of some pundits and policymakers in Washington must have sounded like a bad joke."
"The U.S. still hasn't formally apologized for shooting down Iran Air Flight 655 over the Persian Gulf in 1988. All 300 passengers including 66 children died when the USS Vincennes  apparently mistook the Airbus A300 for an Iranian F-14," Weilandt told  Newsweek. "And now America should go to war because Iran shot down an unmanned drone that was either in or close to Iranian airspace? How would the U.S. react if a drone operated by a hostile state came close to American airspace?"
Weilandt argued that, while Rogers received his award for serving on the USS Vincennes in 1990, "millions of war-torn Iranians suffered from crippling American sanctions—sanctions that got even harsher since." He added: "The nuclear deal that Trump tore apart so recklessly last year didn't primarily benefit the regime in Tehran, it was primarily helping ordinary Iranians."
While the U.S. has spent much of its history with post-revolutionary Iran trying to isolate the Islamic Republic, Trump's self-styled "maximum pressure" may, ironically, have achieved the opposite, leaving his own administration largely alone in its stance vis-à-vis Tehran.
China and Russia have vowed to defy U.S. sanctions and, while Europe has been slower to defy its transatlantic ally, it too launched a special trade vehicle Friday to allow limited trade with Iran.
Iran has refused to engage in talks unless the U.S. lifts sanctions, which recently went so far as to target Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei—who served as president during the deadly 1988 incident.
As Tehran's embassies around the world broadcast reminders of the Iran Air Flight 655 shooting in recent days, its Washington building has since remained vacant, with diplomacy between the two seeming less likely than ever before, even as the State Department touted its efforts to upkeep the property should things ever change.
Khamenei just last week referenced the airliner downing while addressing Iranian judiciary and justice officials, calling it "human rights American style!"
Noting the history of U.S. intervention in his country, he argued: "You cannot be an agent of progress, but only a factor in making this country backward. The Iranian nation will move forward provided only that you do not get involved."
