there's always a lot of talk about how being gay or trans is a "sin." and a lot of people have reclaimed this, have joked about their "sin," have held it up yourself so it can't be held against you.
but to all of the religious queers, the ones trying to find or create a home in themselves where their identity and their religion don't contradict... i see you. i've been you, i am you, i love you.
your orientation is not a sin.
your gender is not a sin.
you are not sinful or wrong or bad just for being who you are.
your identity does not contradict your religion.
you are beautifully and wonderfully made, just as you are.
you are loved by your creator, just as you are.
nobody can take any of that away from you.
[ please do not tag or censor my use of the word queer. do not derail this post by talking about how much religion sucks. ]

Uh guys, in case you aren't all caught up, the graphic novel that started as a little queer comic on Tumblr by ND Stevenson (creator of Shera: Princesses of Power) has been adapted by Netflix into an adorable movie about the contemporary genderqueer experience. Go watch Nimona. RIGHT NOW. (Also read the book!)
The movie also features an API gay couple. Ambrosius Goldenloin is an Asian American descendant of the revered knight, Gloreth, and he dyes his hair blonde to match hers and fit the white saviour image that the public expects from him. He is manipulated golden child of a conservative white woman trying to assert control over the kingdom. Ballister Boldheart is a darker-skinned (desi! muslim!) British Pakistani sweetheart who had to bootstrap his way to the top and still couldn't win model minority status with the head of the institute, and is framed for crimes he didn't commit and condemned by the state. The character designs are both modeled after their voice actors, Eugene Lee Yang and Riz Ahmed. Both actors have done extensive DEI work for the API LGBTQ+ community and visibility!

They are archenemies. They are lovers. They are husbands but also kind of divorced. They will find their way back to each other because they are simply victims of the same system, and they are just so soft for each other and what they want to protect. They are also Nimona's dads. They're slightly different from how they were in the book, but I'm so glad for the changes. And I'm so glad for what remained exactly the same as ND Stevenson envisioned years ago:

So a guy I'm friends with sent me this video as an example of islamophobia from the "woke crowd". After watching it I'm really wondering what is NOT outstandingly reasonable about what the teacher says to a Muslim student who said that he would refuse to attend a school Pride event. The teacher recognises the student's right to a choice, yet still criticises it from the standpoint of inclusion. How is this an example of oppression? Why are some Muslims in Canada so uncomfortable with this?

Hello everyone! So I’ve noticed a somewhat lack of safe spaces online for queer, religious people. So I wanted to fill that void! Here’s a server for queer religious people ! It’s for people of all kinds of faiths. Enjoy ❤️

Shocking news,
Muslims can be queer!! Saying they can't treats being queer like a choice and alienates queer religious people. Saying "they shouldn't act upon it" is fair I guess but it can also villianise queer people.
Literal Muslims have said Muslims can be queer and non-muslimswill still go "WeLl AcTuAlLy"
You are not muslim
Why do you care
Non-muslims people will constantly use Islam as an excuse for not supporting queer people or being homophobic when they aren't even apart of the religion.
Your religion doesn't stop you from supporting human rights, stop being a dick
