We can all agree that all the bats are dramatic af, right? Like, each in their own way, sure, but if they don’t have drama they don’t have anything.

Then let me suggest the idea that they routinely use dramatic lines and phrases that just…don’t really make a lot of sense? Like you hear it and you don’t think anything of it and it’s just the bats being dramatic but then you actually process what was said and wait what?

I just imagined one of them standing there on a roof and saying, “Why has time forsaken me.”

Danny is going to Gotham for his scholarship.

Good news! There's another halfa in the city, and he seems to be a good guy. Bad news: the nearest path to his university is through that halfta's haunt. He could take the long way around, but the costs would be more than his budget can handle, and he'd like to avoid dealing with a pissed-off Red Hood.

Hopefully the offerings will be enough to sate his annoyance (and help maybe, god that man has the most malnourished core he's ever seen).

Jason is getting incredibly confused over the strange gift baskets that keep appearing on his patrol routes.

the batkids grocery shopping

dick: banned* from buying groceries for the manor, when he’s in blüdhaven he is the only one allowed to bc otherwise wally will go (and end up buying way too much)

*by alfred because he bought too many sugary cereals

jason: only buys stuff for himself, alfred, duke and cass. duke and cass get a max of two personal requests each, alfred gets everything he asks for (steph is allowed ONE request but only every other trip)

tim: asks the family group chat for requests and makes a list, orders from amazon fresh

cass: will accompany other people on grocery trips but doesn’t go on her own

steph: is over at the manor so much she practically lives there, always texts to request stuff from whoever is currently shopping

duke: writes an actual grocery list that he brings with him and checks it off as he shops

damian: prefers farmer’s markets- there’s a surprisingly nice one in Gotham Proper once a month (ivy runs it and makes sure no one fucks with it)

If Bruce feels the Batfam needs a refresher on the rules or some of the kids are acting out, he makes them all sit in a room together and play a gimkit for it (for those who don't know what gimkit is, it's basically interactive Kahoot where you get little people you can customize and you get put in a game together, the common themes are snowball fight (competitive, you answer questions to get snowballs to throw at people and the person with the most kills at the end wins) and fishing (more independent, you answer questions for bait to then use for fishing to then get money from it and whoever has the most money at the end wins). The kids all love it and he found it is far more productive way of teaching them the rules instead of lectures cause they are all competitive so they all learn the rules to give them an advantage in the competition.

Random things I like to hc :

(here's part 2)

- Constantine calling Batman "love" anytime.

"Good plan, love. Now, if I may add..."

- Diana constantly fighting the urge to add multiple times in the footnotes of her research papers : "*I know that because I was there."

- Clark feeling some type of way whenever anyone from the Batfam calls him Uncle Clark (he does tear up a little the first few times).

- Anytime, Booster would get cancelled for a tweet, he'd go back in time just far enough to prevent from tweeting it. He did that way too many times.

- Barry and Hal being that one best friend duo that are big on PDA. Most of the time during JL meetings, Hal's leg would be intertwined with Barry's.

- Given that the way they usually interact correlates with what he learned about married couples, J'onn assumed for the longest time that Bruce and Clark were spouses.

- Much like how Clark switches off his kansan accent when he's being Superman, Bruce switches off his "posh" accent when he's being Batman.

- On the contrary, Oliver always sounds filthy rich.

- Everytime someone mentions (any) Robin, Hal's mind still can't fathom that Batman's sidekick is a literal child.

- Dick is a bisexual flirt in and out of costume.

- Regular occurence : Batman enters the meeting room, sees Booster's stupid expression that's a clear sign he's going to share very stupid ideas, and Batman exits the room without a word. He doesn't come back for the rest of the meeting. After it happened more than once, some of the members get the clue and walk out as well.

- Superman can recite entire movies by heart. Not surprising in and of itself, but surprising that Bruce silently lets him do it over his shoulder when he's working in the batcave. Lets Clark unwind and gives Bruce background noise.

- After multiple complaints, Batman had to soundproof Dinah and Oliver's room in the watchtower.

Batfam x reader

-Batmom with Scarlet Witch abilities is just here to entertain the boys and scare the living hell out of the Gotham rouges

• 9 year old Dick asking that you make Dumbo with your powers-

• Tim wants to fly so you let him fly

• Jason just wants to see cool red sparkly magic

• Damian doesn’t take interest to your powers at first but later he was more into the history of the magic and why on earth it exists

• Batmom with scarlet witch powers pertains wiping away bad dreams at three in the morning because you can’t stand to see your boys with tears in their eyes and sweat down their forehead

• The hyper proactive mode of batmom is only enhanced with the powers

• Bruce isn’t really a powers around the house kinda guy but use them on patrol to save some time and he’s secretly thanking you

• When Jason died you went after Joker and ripped him apart

• That man was screaming bloody murder in Arkham for weeks and weeks on end

• You never told Bruce what you made Joker see but Harley comes to you sometimes to ask if you’ll threaten Joker if he’s being mean to her

• He pees his pants- like literally goes into fear flight mode

• Bruce doesn’t bother asking what you did to him cause whatever it was works enough

• Scarecrow messes with your boys long enough and you put him into psychosis for a little while

• That whole reality manipulation gig works really well

• Batmom interrogations are rare and far between due to this

• Either way the boys think that it’s awesome

• They like to hear stories about when you were just discovering your powers

• At first you didn’t think that they were all that but when you had the proper training to seek out their true capabilities the shenanigans started

• You probably team up with Justice League Dark a lot since your powers are extremely useful

• Cue random visits from Constantine and Zatanna , possibly the occasional from a spirit

• All of the Gotham rouges are straight terrified of you which works well to your advantage

• When the newbies from outer-space come at earth and try to invade you’re called in to send them running back with tails between their legs

• Your powers also work really well when pertaining to the therapy of civilians and those around you

• Going back and figuring out where everything went wrong with the reality thing and working through all of the trauma through a safer space really increases the morale of everyone

- helping freeze with the loss of his wife -helping Clayface work through his complex wants for revenge

-calming down Grundy when he’s rampaging

• The definition of chaotic neutral

Random Batlantern hcs:

One time while he was in Gotham with Bruce, Hal found a shop selling a shirt that says "I survived my trip to Gotham City." He thinks it's absolutely hilarious and has at least three which he wears constantly

Hal absolutely infodumps about airplanes to Bruce, and Bruce just infodumps about dinosaurs, his Nerd Shit, and whatever case he's working on right back

Hal forces Bruce to rewatch Top Gun with him every month. Bruce hates it

Bruce still got tickets to the Top Gun: Maverick premiere for Hal anyways

There was a moment where they discovered they both had Jewish heritage and went "oh my God he just like me fr"

Bruce has a tendency to voice his observations about people (I.e. "you changed your shampoo." "Excuse me??") which weirded out Hal at first but eventually became something that endeared him to Bruce ("You changed the lotion you use" "absolutely right babe :D")

The batfam ofc really likes Hal. 10/10 the sanest (serious) romance Bruce has had in a while

The keep it pretty secret, but told the core/founding members of the League. They were absolutely fucking blindsided by this

HC that selkie!Jason never loses the white in his coat, since he has the white streak in his hair, even when he puts his coat on and he's an adult seal, he still has the white in it. Also, during the Red Hood days, pre-reveal (post stealing pack his coat) he just sneaks into the Cave to use the pools there to just relax for a little.

The batfam knows he's there but they either think he's a ghost/hallucination, or a random selkie but they can never turn anyway someone in need so theyre willing to let a random selkie into the bat cave because it reminds them of Jason

Yesss!!!! And his adult coat, though much less fluffy, is still the snowy white of pups 🥺

And omg the image of a „strange“ selkie just chilling in the pools would be so heartbreaking for the batfam. Bruce would sit down a respectable distance away and just… watch. Pretend he’s working on a phone/laptop while there’s a Selkie splashing in the water, but in reality he’d watch every single flip and little snort for air because— because this is what he’s been robbed of. His seal pup, never gotten to grow up. 😭

Bruce would physically have to restrain Dick from jumping into the pool with the Selkie in fear of scaring them away. (Dick just wants to play with a seal again and pretend it’s his baby brother pleas god, please)

The strange Selkie absolutely hates Tim lol.

Random batfam hcs

Bruce once totally showed up to a JL meeting drunk and only Superman and Zatanna knew what was going on, everyone else was terrified he’d been poisoned or whammied

Young Justice (90s version) are that one fried group that sits in the corner of the cafeteria whispering, laughing, and occasionally shouting that no one knows anything about and no one wants to know (only one of them has actually been a student, but dropped out. No one has a clue who the other three are but they are always there. One kid who works at bat burger swears they once came in at 1am covered in blood)

Everyone knows the ‘Jason takes classes at the local community college.’ I do you one better, Red Hood drops in on classes, helmet and all, and he does it so frequently that the teachers add him to the attendance list and let him do makeup work when he misses class for some disaster. He did not register and he is not paying. No one ever says anything.

Damian’s public persona is actually just extremely introverted and polite, with impeccable manners but very little to say beyond basic pleasantries. What people don’t know is that it’s only because Grayson drilled it into his head that if he had nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all. He took that quite literally.

Everyone in Gotham keeps up with Wayne gossip, so they know Steph used to date Tim, but they didn’t realize they’d broken up until the thing with Tam because she just kept hanging out around the Waynes. It took three years for everyone to realize she had basically been adopted.

Everyone is like ‘Duke acts like he’s the sane one but he’s as crazy as the rest.’ I say sure ok but what about Alfred acts like he’s the sane one but he’s as crazy as the rest. I mean where do you think they got it from. He taught Bruce how to make a fertilizer bomb when he was 13!

Batfam Sleep Noise HC

I should sleep because i literally have to get up at 5am but inspiration hit me

HC: What does the Batfam listen to while falling asleep?

Dick will listen to simple Talk Podcasts where the people talk about random topics. He needs something light to fall asleep. He is not picky though, he will start the first that pops up on Spotify and go with it.

Jason listens to Harry Potter Podcasts. Jay is a big nerd for Harry Potter and likes these podcasts where they will analyize the movies frame by frame. He will also listen to Back to the Future Minute.

Tim listens to TED talk but he never comes far because he will pass out immediatly most times. Podcasts come in truly handy for him when insomnia hits hard. Some nights when he feels lonely, he will listen to Boyfriend ASMR but he will take that secret to the grave. Sometimes he cries while listening to it and hugging his pillow.

Barbara also listens to TED talk. She also likes all sorts of tech podcasts. She will not only listen to podcasts while falling asleep but also during any other situation.

Stephanie likes to listen to meditation podcasts and noises. She will totally fall asleep to the sound of rain, forest noises or the sound of the sea. Steph is zen.

Cass prefers to fall asleep in silence. When insomnia hits her, she will listen to True Crime and History Crime Podcasts. Cannibalism, serial killers, child molesters, nothing is too hard for her. The family is totally questioning her sanity and how she can even listen to stuff like that but noone dares to fight her on it.

Duke listens to slow music. Sometimes it is LoFi but it doesnt really matter to him. Occassinally he will listen to childrens audio books because he used to listen to them when he was younger. He likes the Harry Potter audiobooks as well as other classics and Disney audiobooks.

Damian listens to the Clone Wars Audiobooks. He will listen to them over and over again because they are his comfort audiobooks. He religiously avoids the episode where Fives dies and the one where Ahsoka leaves the Jedi Order (i mean, who doesn't?). On the rare occassion he will listen to something else, he will listen to Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It brings a strange sense of control and normalcy to his truly extraordinary life.

Bruce falls asleep in silence or while listening to white noises. Fight me on that, i dare you.

Lol very random question but what colour eyes do the Batfam members have (like sometimes I see them with green? Then blue?) ooh and how do u hc their heights and ages to be hehe. Tysm!

It changes so much!

Bruce would have ultramarine blue eyes, like a heavy super deep underwater kind of eyes

Dick would have bright azure blue eyes, something clear like this

Jason would have a mix of blue and green in his eyes

Tim would have really light sky blue eyes

Damian would have brilliant bright green eyes he inherited from his mom's side

Stephanie would have a mix of bluish purple eyes that I think would look like cornflower blue

Cass is said to have blue, green, or brown eyes in three different comics so I'm going to go ahead and say she has hazel colored eyes.

Duke is the only one in the family who has brown eyes consistently and it's like an amber color

More random things I like to hc :

- When she's training, Diana listens to binaural beats claiming that it gives her the opportunity to train and meditate simultaneously. "It's an incredible time saving.", she'd say. Bruce would roll his eyes.

- Oliver and Hal would beg Batman to install a confessional in the Watchtower, like in reality shows. Because he obviously refuses, they'd stand in front of any security camera and use them as one, rambling on and on about the other members.

- Dick is a total extrovert. When he has some time to recharge in between day work and night vigilantism, he lets off steam in nightclubs. He took Tim (who-recharges-when-alone™) once : he hated it.

- Most of the time Dinah would show up at meetings with sunglasses to look "mysteriously cool". Actually, she can't sleep at night.

- Booster would definitely refer to himself in the third person.

- Clark being Bruce's personal masseur is one of their rituals. Whenever his super senses notice a specific tenseness in Batman's body, Clark would end up joining him in the batcave and giving him a massage session. Bruce would just accept it without a word.

- When he's not the one leading the meeting, Batman is usually snacking on a bag of nuts.

- Alfred has a workshop in the manor where he makes pottery. He makes bat-shaped objects that everyone in the Batfam loves. He made mugs, plates, jars, etc.

- Booster would use Skeets as a soundboard to accompany his every actions and illustrate his jokes. Shayera lost her temper once and broke Skeets in half. No worries, Victor helped repair him, although it was still a traumatizing experience for Booster.

- Hal has a collection of Top Gun goodies. At some point, Bruce brought him the original G-1 jacket from Tom Cruise for his birthday.

- Batman is absolutely excellent at everything he puts his mind to, except the absolute purge that is the game Sekiro. It started when Tim was raging while playing the game. Bruce passed behind him and let out a fatherly "You should learn how to control your emotions better, Tim.". Cue Tim challenging him to play. Then, there remained Batman cursing at a screen, desperately replaying a boss fight for the nth time.

- Booster and Ted have this promise that if neither one of them gets married at a certain age, they'd marry each other. Although, Ted is still looking for love, Booster is satisfied with the idea he'd end up marrying Ted.

- Oliver's neck is very often covered in hickeys.

- Constantine and Alfred are actually good buddies. They facetime a lot when Alfred is busy in the kitchen and John has some free time. That's how John knows so much about Bruce.

- The batfam plays a game where they make up elaborate life stories for strangers they encounter in public. Using their detective skills, they later discover the real stories and the winner is the one whose made-up backstory comes closest to the truth.

- Sometimes, Victor and Clark play football together. They both loved it in the past and they both lost the opportunity to commit and progress in the field. It's just the two of them, but it still helps heal their inner teen.
