here are some harmful aro stereotypes 💚🤍🩶🖤

there are probably so many more stereotypes, but those are the ones that i see more often! also i already posted same post about bisexuality, so check it out —> here.

aros are heartless — most people think that, because they assume aromantics do not love, they love. they can love their family, their friends, their pet or even themselves (this one is specifically for my afamilial & aplatonic folks). there is so much more complexity to love than romantic love and anyone who puts romantic love above all else is lame. like im sorry, but romantic love isn’t somehow better from self-love or love to your friends or family.

aro and ace are the same — this is also about asexuality, but aro ≠ ace. i see some people use the term asexual to describe both the aro & ace experience and to me it makes no sense since they’re completely different things. aro & ace can co-exist and one person can be on both spectrums, but that doesn’t mean all people are the same, not all aros are ace, not all aces are aro. so what is aro & ace? both are a spectrum. if you are aromantic you do not feel romantic attraction OR feel it under certain circumstances only (ex. when you know someone well, when someone likes you you like them back or until someone likes you back you like them). if you’re asexual that means you do not feel sexual attraction OR only feel it under certain circumstances.

aros can’t date — aros can in fact date, some people on the arospec experience attraction (rarely or under certain circumstances) so it makes sense they can date. there are also aros that do not experience romantic attraction, some date even though they do not experience the same feeling. they can like the person, care for them deeply and affectionately, but it is simply not romantic love, but they can chose to date the person. not all aros are loveless or romance repulsed.

i can ship xyz, aros can date — this is targeted tbh, i keep seeing people bring this up in Yelena Belova discourse about her aromanticism, while it is true aros can date, some chose not to, some are simply not interested in it and if a character in canon is showing no interest in romance or is repulsed by it, they don’t need to be fixed, they don’t need to be put in a relationship, they can just exist in peace. i especially dislike allos shipping aro/ace characters because they just see them as allo at that point, like im sorry, but they don’t give a shit about aros if they can’t listen to them explaining why you shouldn’t ship a specific aro character.

aros aren’t valid — bs. just bs. they are valid, whether you’re a man, a woman, a gender outside of the binary, whether you’re asexual as well or not, whether you want to date or not, you are valid as long as the definition applies to you!!! honestly here’s how i can explain being aro: if you are straight you are only attracted to opposite gender, so you don’t like same-sex, so just like you don’t like same-sex, aro’s don’t like same-sex & opposite gender.

a/n: this gif makes me feel things gonna start this off by saying that this is meant to be romantic but you can read it as platonic if you want. i know everyone has an opinion on yelena's sexuality and not everyone will agree with mine and that's okay! [just don't be a jerk about it. i personally think yelena is a demiromantic asexual so do with that what you will] ALSO, this is so chaotic and borderline nonsensical and you can blame 🌟 for making me think about yelena playing uno that one time. “This sucks,” Kate declares with a pout.

“Don’t be such a crybaby, Kate Bishop.” Yelena’s words only make the archer’s pout deepen which makes the whole situation feel even more ridiculous.

“Yeah, Kate,” you jump in. “You’re the one who started talking shit in the first place.”

An offended gasp escapes her lips at your accusation. “I wasn’t talking shit! I was being honest about my skills.”

This time, Peter cuts in before the blonde gets a chance to make fun of the archer again. “Guys, I thought we decided against Monopoly so we wouldn’t fight.”

“Fighting is Yelena’s love language,” you reply with a shrug.

You pretend not to notice the way the Russian’s lips quirk up into a small smile and instead focus on Kate and her awful decision-making skills. It takes her a few extra seconds and she still manages to choose the most annoying card in her hand.

“It took you two minutes to throw in a plus-four?” Peter questions, clearly doing his best to not sound judgemental.

“Shut up and take the cards, Pete.”

The boy grumbles something you don’t quite catch but Kate is quick to punch him in the arm, earning herself a kick to the shin. Their dynamic is certainly…interesting and you can’t stop yourself from wondering how much of it comes from being two only children attempting to one-up each other.

Yelena leans in toward you, pretending to whisper. “Why are we hanging out with them again?”

The pair clearly overhears her considering both the glare and the pout that gets thrown your way. You merely shrug in response, attempting to shield your cards from her expert gaze. “It’s…entertaining, I guess.”

“You guys are jerks,” Kate says, speaking the thoughts Peter is far too nice to vocalize. (It’s definitely not because he’s terrified of getting on Yelena’s bad side.)

“And you suck at Uno.”

She rolls her eyes at you but decides not to reply. The small moment of silence allows Peter to take his turn and the game continues…until Yelena decides to betray you.

You’re not fully paying attention to the strategies each one of your companions is forming which means you don’t realize it when they decide to team up against you.

You’re only four cards away from winning and the blonde beside you can’t stop herself from sneaking a look at your deck. Kate somehow manages to catch her in the act and the two stare each other down until the archer raises an eyebrow, silently asking to be a part of the Russian’s plan.

A plan that quickly leads to Kate placing down another plus-four card and Peter being thrown one of Yelena’s under the table.

“We can stack, right?” He asks, mainly in an attempt to keep you from noticing what they’re doing.

“Yeah, that’s fine,” you reply with a shrug. “Just don’t be surprised when Yelena pulls out a knife from her boot.”

The joke gets a few chuckles, and a slightly concerned look from the young Avenger.

“Do not worry, Spider-Boy, I promised y/n I wouldn’t threaten you…again.”

“Right…” Peter’s clearly not convinced but he throws in his card anyway.

You turn to face Yelena with a smug smirk. “Sorry, babe, but it looks like I’m on my way to winning this round.”

“You sound like Kate Bishop.” She playfully rolls her eyes at you but the glint in her eyes shows off more amusement than annoyance. “I hope you handle losing better than she does, though.”

“Hey!” You and the archer both voice your protests, albeit for different reasons, as the blonde slams down the last plus-four card needed to ensure you won’t win any time soon.

This time around, she’s the one who looks at you with a smug grin but you’re too busy being dramatic to fully appreciate how good she looks when she’s being competitive. It’s genuinely just a stupid card game and yet you pull out all the tricks you’ve learned over the past few months to get the Russian to melt into the huge softie she is at heart.

“Oh, come on, that was mean.” You pull on your best impression of Kate’s wounded puppy dog look. A look that includes slightly wide eyes and an incredibly deep pout.

A pout Yelena has never been good at resisting. (But only when it comes to you, much to the archer’s dismay)

She, literally and figuratively, keeps her cards close to her chest but you catch the way her free hand twitches slightly, almost as if she’s fighting to keep herself from touching you. It’s strange how affectionate she wants to be with you when she’s always been the first to pull away from a hug, the first one to scoot away when someone sits too close.

Being guarded had always felt like second nature to her until you came along.

Her hand reaches out before she can stop it, landing on your knee and giving it a soft yet reassuring squeeze. It's a subtle reminder that underneath all her sarcasm and the rough edges, she cares about you. A lot more than she ever thought herself capable of.

“It’s just a game, sweetheart.” The words are a mere whisper but somehow the person with the worst attention span you’ve ever seen manages to overhear them.

“Did you just call y/n ‘sweetheart’?” Kate blurts out, clearly far too shocked to worry about her safety. “You actually have feelings?”

“Wait, did she really say that?” Peter’s slightly more cautious but there’s both awe in curiosity shining in his brown eyes.

“I heard her!”

“I think you hit your head too hard on your last mission, Bishop,” you reply, trying to steer the conversation away the second Yelena starts glaring at your friends.

Despite all her other skills, Kate is still awful at reading the room so instead of accepting the safety you’re offering, she decides to be stubborn like always. “Don’t lie to me, y/n, I know what I heard. Yelena’s just a big-”

“A big what?” The blonde cuts in with the most threatening glare she can manage. Which, considering she’s an ex-assassin, is quite effective at shutting the archer up.

“Um…” You can practically see the wheels spinning in the brunette’s head as she tries to come up with something different to say. She clearly fails based on the words that come out. “A big softie..?”

“Oh, Kate,” you sigh. “You’re never going to learn to stop poking the bear, huh?”

“What do you mean?”

Her confusion lasts for about a second before Yelena shoots up from the couch and lunges toward her. The archer gets the message pretty quickly after that, expertly ducking out of the way and taking off running in the direction of the bathroom.

All you can do is laugh and shake your head as the Russian chases after her. “Go easy on her, babe!”

“Yeah, Yelena, listen to your girlfriend!”

“Kate!” You and the Russian yell out at the same time, leading to a fit of giggles belonging to the biggest instigator you've ever met.

"So much for a chill game night," Peter mumbles, placing his cards onto the coffee table. "You're gonna go help Kate out, right?"

You shrug. "I'll think about it."

Bishova is such a funny ship name imo, 'cause "fag" in portuguese is "bicha" so whenever I read "bishova" inside my head, it reminds me of "bichona" (aka "big fag" in portuguese) lmaooo

Anyways. Pls feel free to share some of your bishova headcanons (even though I don't even go here lol). I kinda see the ~vision~ from that one scene w/ them that I saw (yeah, I'm gay and weak, sue me)

I HATE the ship name soooo much lmao I was on the ground floor of the ship (Like, pre-hawkeye, using their interactions in the Thompson BW run for inspo) and I was gunning for it to be Katelena but I was 100% outvoted.

I'm gonna give you a couple SFW ones and then a couple NSFW ones because I WILL make you a Marvel girlie if it takes the rest of our tumblr lives

Yelena has some food issues (food insecurity/aversions, trouble acknowledging her fullness cues) and Kate is the one who helps her figure out how to treat those. One thing they do is that when they go out to eat, Kate boxes up half of Yelena's entree for her when it comes to the table so Yelena doesn't eat herself sick.

They're both neurodivergent-Yelena was an excellent assassin but in the MCU there's little to no suggestion that she ever did honeypot missions and I think it's because her social cues aren't great. Kate absolutely has hyperactive ADHD.

I think Yelena enjoys being read aloud to. She finds it soothing. Kate will read news articles and books and shit out loud to Yelena with Yelena's head in her lap.

They are both obviously dog people but Yelena is *obsessed* with Bucky's cat Alpine and will wander around with Alpine tucked in her hoodie. Alpine does not like Kate. Kate will MAKE Alpine like her if it's the last thing she does.

Antonia Dreykov is not much of a Kate fan at first. She finds Kate soft, loud, overly dramatic, and painfully naive. Then Yelena almost dies on Antonia's watch, and Kate steps up in a very serious, real way. That wins Antonia over to the Kate side.

NSFW

Yelena's the bottom. I love bottom Yelena. She's a spoiled, bratty sugar baby pillow princess and Kate is OBSESSED with the power trip it gives her to see Yelena like that.

Tbh I'm not into asexual Yelena and less and less inclined to even discuss it but I DO think Yelena has hangups and triggers around sex. The girls take the physical intimacy part of their relationship at a GLACIAL pace, and there are times where something Kate says or does ends in a meltdown or panic attack for Yelena. It makes Kate feel very guilty. Yelena makes jokes about it, which does not provide the levity that she THINKS they do.

Kate doesn't really like to wear pants much, especially in their room/their own apartment once Yelena is secure enough to live with just Kate (I think for a while Yelena lives with Bucky and thus Sam, and Kate ends up there too-Yelena gets anxious alone and needs to learn to person). Yelena regularly grabs her ass and squeezes before BOLTING to trick Kate into chasing her and throwing her on the bed.

It was another quiet evening.

Yelena sat on the couch, enamored by the TV, scooping spoonful upon spoonful of macaroni in her mouth. You glance at her periodically, barely listening to what the show is saying. She looks peaceful here, utterly content here with you and it makes your heart flutter thinking of how lucky you are.

She tilts her head a small smile forming along her lips. “My dove, what’s on your mind?”

“Nothing,” You tuck your legs more under the blanket, shifting on the couch cushions to get more comfortable.

“Liar,” she grins, setting down her bowl on the nightstand, crawling along the sectional to you, her lips a hair's breadth away from yours. She maneuvers herself on top of you more and you feel yourself sinking further into the embrace of the couch. A gasp falls from your lips but you’re not exactly complaining, not when Yelena is here, gazing at you adoringly, cupping your face between her hands, her beautiful gaze boring into you.

You whimper at the touch, wrapping your arms around her before pressing a gentle kiss to her neck. She responds in kind, kissing you so softly, her lips like honey it leaves you wanting more and more. She lets you take and take whimpering at the feeling of you beneath her. She adores these moments when she can relax here, be in your arms not constantly running or trying to lay low all the time. When she’s with you she feels better and happier.

She nuzzles more into you, her kisses growing more desperate, her hands slipping under your shirt and you shiver, welcoming her touch. It’s unexpected, but you love the teasing it’s always the best part, and when she pulls you into another kiss you tug off her shirt as well, leaving her exposed in her black bra, looking utterly exquisite still as the day you first saw her.

“Beautiful…” you murmur, brushing your hand along her shoulder. Your fingers brush through her wispy ashen blonde strands, earning a soft whimper from her.

“So good…” she mumbles and it makes your heart yearn and ache more for her. She doesn’t hesitate to devour your lips again, your shirt joining hers on the floor the skin-to-skin contact lighting you on fire.

She slips her hands under your waistband and teases you with two fingers, enjoying watching you squirm and whimper in protest at the loss, and she tuts. “Be patient. I tend to worship you fully, my dove,” she says lowly, her accent thickening with each word. It sends a thrill jolting down you at the prospect of the thought.

“Yelena…please,” you groan, tugging her lower lip in desperation.

Her hands fall to your sides, her legs straddling your hips now, just barely grinding against you, teasing you, not quenching the fire pooling in your core. Oh, how you love the feeling.

“Dove…you’re absolutely ravishing…” a kiss is planted to your collarbone, her tongue following in its wake, causing you to squirm and she grinds against you again in return, making you moan.

All this teasing was the part you both enjoyed, and what came after, be that cuddling or having you fall apart once more just for her. It didn’t matter for you felt safe enough to let go, to be around her and she always made sure to check you were alright. You love the rare spicy occasions, but both of you would much rather cuddle, find solace in each other’s presence and warmth.

After she pulls back, admiring her marks, you wrap her in your blanket, kissing her softly. “You are amazing, Yelena. I adore you so much, thank you for that.”

“Wanted to spice things up a little…glad I did good!” she beams, her smile radiant warming you from head to toe. You can’t help but kiss her desperately trying to show her how much you appreciate and adore her.

For how could you get so lucky to have her complete you and be your other half?

Quickly, you remove yourself for her embrace despite her protests stacking some wood in the fireplace before you, smirking in satisfaction at the growing flames. Once you make your way back to the couch, you pull her into your arms, her naked form soft against you. She looks so cute, content and peaceful you can’t help but kiss her nose, giggling when she scruches it.

“You look so cute, Yelena,” you grin, stroking her hair and she sighs in content, growing more relaxed in your embrace.

“I adore you, my dove.”

“And I adore you, Yelena.” You murmur, resting your chin on top of her head as you stroke her side, drifting off to the sounds of the crackling fire and the smell of home, of Yelena resting safely in your arms.

i decided i wanna find out who yelena belova is and i read the bodyswap story and i’m kind of losing my mind. i didn’t know such a psychosexually lesbian story could exist at marvel in 2002. and it’s even the rare 00s marvel comic with really pretty art. i know a lot of fans and even devin grayson herself read yelena as asexual but i don’t get that at all here, her obsession with natasha seems deeply sexual even if she doesn’t consciously realize it. ALSO i never knew there was such an age difference between natasha and yelena LOL. what ages do you think they are? i think it’s kinda fun how the comic emphasizes their age difference even tho of course they both look like hot women in their 20s

No it’s INSANE!! And the way that they’ve completely defanged and rewritten Yelena since then is really disappointing.

I think the emphasis on an age difference is really an emphasis on an era difference. Natasha is from the height of the Cold War, and Yelena is from after the dissolution of the USSR. Because I think the Cold War is so important to her story, I’m a big believer in Natasha having decelerated aging. Which is like. Cheap to do with female characters but I feel like at this point she’d have to be like 70 or 80 without it so needs must. So she’s an experienced spy, probably around 50 by the time of that story, and Yelena is VERY young, like 20/21. Adult but barely.

I do wish Nat looked older bc I think that she’d look hotter if she was drawn as more mature.

"You're dating Stephen fucking Strange?" Elena (one of your co-workers) asked, her yell barely visible over the loud Stark party. You grimaced anyway.

"Can you lower your voice? I don't want anyone to know," you said sharply, but one of your other friends had already arrived on the scene.

"Know what?" she asked, handing the drink over to you.

"She's dating Doctor Strange."

"Elena!" you exclaimed in shock.

"An avenger, and does she tell us? No!! Here I'm thinking we are platonic soulmates—"

"We've known each other for 2 weeks," you interrupted, reminding them that you were indeed the newest addition to Stark enterprises.

"Doctor Strange is hot," the other friend (Lisa) said, sighing dreamily. "Does he use the magic rope thingy in bed? I bet he does."

You blinked. "Uhm, actually we didn't-"

You let the statement hang in the air, hoping they'd take the hint and drop it. Hoping that they'll assume your relationship with Strange to be super new. You weren't ready to tell them you were on the asexual spectrum, not anytime soon.

"Why the hell haven't you fucked him yet?" Elena asked blankly. "He's an avenger. Suck his dick so he stays around longer."

"There you are!" Yelena walked into the conversation, almost making you yell out in happiness. She was your best friend, and you knew you could just make a random excuse and get out of there.

"Yelena!" you smiled easily, hooking your hands around hers, steadily preparing to walk off.

Of course, Lisa didn't let you.

"Are you scared he'll dump you if your skills are poor or something?" Lisa asked instinctively, making you halt all moments.

"Wait, what's going on?" Yelena asked, frowning.

"I don't want to talk about it," you replied, mostly to Lisa.

"Then what?" Elena asked. "Does he have anything weird down there? Ohmygod you have to tell us!!!"

Yelena connected the dots and didn't look happy about it. "She said she didn't want to talk about it. Now move."

"This is fine," you said, trying your best to be bold. "It's okay. El, the reason why I didn't have sex with him yet is 'cause I'm asexual. Now that you guilted me into sharing something that I didn't really trust you to share with — can you please stop being a dick and move?"

"Asexual? Like the ones who are afraid of sex?" Lisa asked, seeming genuinely curious.

(It was like you were back in high school again, backed up in a corner with questions you didn't want to hear. You gulped, feeling the first wave of vulnerability wash over you.)

"I always thought it was a fancy name for virgins," Elena said without thinking.

"I always thought you were little pieces of shit glued together but we keep some thoughts to ourselves," Yelena snapped, her eyes screaming murder.

(You shut your eyes. Breath. One.. two..)

"Y/N?" a comfortingly familiar voice called, and you turned to see Stephen in what appeared to be the most "casual" outfit he could be in. He had a suit over his t-shirt and his hair was slicked back, with just that one strand of hair falling across his eyes.

You had a terrible feeling that he could see how helpless you felt.

"Holy shit," Elena said, her mouth open in surprise. "The doctor strange, right in front of my eyes. Someone please pinch me, preferably Stephen himself. Haha, can I call you Stephen? Or Steve?"

"No," he cut short. "Y/N, are you okay?"

No. No.

"I-" your eyes went from Elena to Lisa to Yelena to Stephen, knowing anytime you'd start having a panic attack. You could already feel the tears building up. You took a deep breath in.

"I'm fine," you whispered at last.

"No, she's not!" Yelena protested. "Look at her! These dummies think they can be on top of the world just because they are horny all the time."

"Oh." Stephen stared at Elena with clear anger on his face. "And here I thought you wouldn't be as stupid as you are clearly annoying."

"Hey!" Lisa gasped.

"You're both stupid," he corrected himself. "I love Y/N with all my life and you already know I'm a sorcerer. Think twice about what you're going to say from now or you'll magically end up in another universe with no money."

"Stephen—" you began, but Elena cut you to it.

"Are you threatening me?" she asked dramatically.

"Yes." Both him and Yelena said in unison.

"You can't do that-"

"Why? Because we're supposed to be the good guys?" Yelena snorted. "Believe me, plenty of people go missing every day. No one would suspect us."

"They got the hint," you interrupted firmly. "Can we please stop this before all of us get kicked out?"

Stephen took your hand and squeezed it reassuringly. "I'm sorry you had to deal with their bullshit."

"We're right here," Lisa said, mortified.

"Their bullshit," Stephen repeated, not taking his eyes off yours. "I love you and if you're up for it, maybe we can go dance?"

"Even though you hate dancing?"

"You know you're always my exception."

You smiled. "Let's go, then."

Yelena Belova is canonically aroace.

Lately people dismissing that has been getting on my nerves VERY much, so I’m making this post lol.

First the terminology:

Aromantic — an individual who doesn’t experience romantic attraction.

Asexual — an individual that doesn’t experience sexual attraction.

AroSpec — spectrum that includes different aromantic identities, from aros who don’t feel romantic attraction to those who do under certain circumstances or rarely.

AceSpec — spectrum that includes different asexual identities, from aces who don’t feel sexual attraction to those who do under certain circumstances or rarely.

So first thing i will put here is this;

This in my humble opinion should be enough of a proof, but apparently it is not.

First this part of an interview, the person speaking is a creator/co-creator of Yelena. She says she is most likely to identify as asexual than to follow Nat’s romantic path. Hinting at both aro & ace.

So in the comics Yelena shows no interest dating, as far as i am aware she has no romantic interest in the comics. She is repulsed by sex, she calls herself „nothing” referring to her sexual identity.

As much as many like to say she is a lesbian, she is not, how fucking stupid you sound, honestly. She says it herself, if I said I’m not a lesbian, would you question it? No? Then don’t question her, she says she is not a lesbian, she has no wlw storyline. Drop the fucking lesbian hc.

Some possible foreshadowing in the MCU

1. When she is talking with a widow and a former Ana (show: Hawkeye), there is a line said by the widow accompanying her: „…you and Natasha can be reunited again and live your sex in the city fantasy”.

^ Yelena leaves the room, as soon as the word „sex” is mentioned her face drops, then we have this scene where she’s looking at herself in the mirror.

2. When talking about kids and family (movie: Black Widow) she mentions she wants a dog.

3. When describing „fake story” of her life she made up because her birth certificate was burnt she says Natasha has a husband and talks about her parents, but mentions nothing about her husband or possible spouses or children. (movie: Black Widow)

4. Yelena tends to wear a lot of aro/ace flag colors.

green coat & purple lipstick (green = aro | purple = ace)

yellow & blue colors = aroace flag

Overall Yelena wears a lot of green and white and black together, aromantic flag colors.

^^ can you call that „over the top?” yeah sure… let me remind yall something else:

when enid wore this sweather yall went WILD.

but when Yelena is wearing aroace colors all the time it’s called „reaching”…?

I will continue this with even more, because while you can agree with me and say she is aroace, still there will be people who claim she is aroace, agree, but then this fucking argument comes into place:

„AROS CAN DATE”

„ACES CAN FUCK”

„QPRS EXIST”

Do you see what’s wrong with those sentences? Nothing.

There’s a „but” thoooo…

There is nothing wrong with those, but using those arguments to totally ignore her sexuality ship her and treat her like suddenly she is allo is not it.

Yelena has shown no interest in dating or sex, we can assume she is sex-repulsed as she has shows repulsion to sex and she is to me at least implied to be romance-repulsed.

And we’ve found the problem.

Sex Repulsed Aces are as you can imagine repulsed by sex. Romance Repulsed Aros are repulsed by romance… So how is someone repulsed by said things engaging in said interaction and is not repulsed by them???

I think it’s a great idea to write her into said situations to show she is repulsed and to show it’s okay, because her life, my life, the lives of other uninterested in such thing aro/ace, our lives don’t end here.

Using how some people navigate through their sexuality to justify this is wrong.

You wouldn’t write a lesbian with a man, because bi lesbians exist and she may be a bi lesbian, right?

^ just an fyi, that’s an example, the term bi-lesbian is extremely harmful to both bisexuals and lesbians. check out this for more.

The QPR dilemma is that you don’t understand what a QPR is… it’s not more than friends…it’s not in the middle, it’s out of the regular binary of relationships. Relationships I actually think are QPRs:

Friends with benefits — purely platonic, but you fuck.

Situationship — just friends that do romantic stuff together, unless you call it a romantic relationship, with the other person agreeing on that, it is not one.

QPRs are amazing and beautiful, but it’s not always about fucking and kissing and „acting like a couple” but being a QPR. It can be being friends and living together, not temporary. It can be being friends and co-parenting. It can be many things.

But as I said Yelena is repulsed, why would someone repulsed by sex/romance engage in said thing happily with no doubts, fears, negative feelings just because it’s a qpr, so it’s suddenly fine…?

This is for now all I have to say about this.

As an AroAce, who desires no romantic relationship or a sexual one please please please let us have this representation, for once in our fucking lives.

I will NOT be posting the nonsense left in my inbox tagging/calling others out. To take this a step further I’m actually not posting any hate ever again. I don’t need to defend myself (or others) to miserable strangers on this app.

I do however want to respond to the topic at hand because by default you are calling me ace-phobic as well and that’s a falsehood.

If you have a problem with how we write a fictional character (that isn’t actually canon as anything because MCU and Marvel Comics are not tied together by a blood vessel) then you can easily leave our blogs behind. You’re not shackled to any fic writers page. Yelena Belova is comically known as an enemy of Natasha, not her sister. Alexei was her husband. Natasha once ate Peter Parker. Thanos tore Tony in half.

The point I’m making is comic /=/ movie canon.

To also let you know, there’s huge talk that Yelena & Bucky are romantically involved in their newest project. People also saw the chemistry between Flo/Hailee and shipped Yelena with Kate before the Ace discourse had started (and continued to b/c it is their right).

There’s nothing but love for those who fall under the Ace umbrella here on my blog, and I say it that way because it is a spectrum, not a one size fits all identity. Start by understanding that ace doesn’t mean celibate. For you, and others it might, but for many it doesn’t. So the no smut does not even add to your argument. I’m aware that Yelena being hinted as ace might have excited you, given you a sense of visibility you’ve never seen in the mainstream (and you all do deserve such types of representation) but turning a Tumblr fandom toxic because they don’t see her the same isn’t fair. Especially because there’s no “proof” of her identity, “Probably more likely to identify as asexual,” is not a canon statement. If you’re here because a single Black Widow writer made an assumption based on a solo project they were involved in then you’re also not going to hit with anything credible because these writers do not talk to the heads when they make comments. They also don’t dictate a character’s future arc.

For further discourse I will defer you to this reddit link written by an individual who seems to identify somewhere within the spectrum.

I myself have written Yelena in all facets. I have written romantic, 1 smut, and I’m in the process of putting together a requested platonic one. It is not a malicious way to erase her potential aro/ace identity. It’s just to see her how I do.

Fanfic has always been about taking characters and running with your desires. Natasha has been turned into a vampire, witch, werewolf, lawyer, CEO, princess, stripper, Lesbian/Bi and the list goes on because interpretations vary wildly. Nothing we write is canon to the world, it is only to the writer / and interested readers.

Part 5. This can be read as x reader or with Kate Bishop. It can be viewed as queer platonic.I headcanon her as asexual as she is in the comics Prompt here. T: Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, and gifts?) She is a planner, but she is more of a loose planner. She’ll start with some things like calling in class/work and managing you to get a day off so you can sleep in if you want. She has already gone to the grocery store the night before to buy you your favorite treats and to make you your favorite meal if you choose not to go out. She has taken all your interests into account and has made an outline, but she doesn’t like things completely regimented. It’s more, “Do you want beignets or greasy plates of bacon?” “Do you want to relax on the beach or have a picnic?”. It’s your day. Gifts are the same; your interests matter to her.

U: Ugly (What would be a bad habit of theirs?) She jumps to conclusions more than she should. Sometimes, she’s trying to be helpful by anticipating a situation, but not always. It can and has led to arguments. Less seriously, sometimes you find her gear and weapons in the oddest places in your home/Kate’s home.

V: Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?) Yelena is stunningly beautiful, but she is a total femme. She takes great stock in her appearance, picking out fashionable clothing and styling her hair and her makeup at peak perfection. However, she is also flexible --- and sometimes “lazy” enough to go completely casual. Never messy, though. Yelena knows she’s pretty. The program values it, and she agrees she’s beautiful, but she doesn’t obsess over it. Kate thinks she should use it to get them free drinks, but Yelena just rolls her eyes at the idea.

W: Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?) She says she’s fine, really. She’s a former Black Widow. She’s fine. In actuality, while she would survive, she would feel the hole in her heart, whether friend, queerplatonic or more.

X: Xtra (A random headcanon for them) She loves watching cooking competition shows! Great British Bake Off, Halloween Bake Off, and Master Chef, to name a few. Cut Throat Kitchen is a particular favorite of hers. She loves how diabolical they get. Z: Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?) Yelena used to sleep with her hand held up and handcuffed on her back like Dottie Underwood. She sleeps purely on her stomach now because she can, and it’s comfortable.
