Part 2
Masterlist
Y/N: Your Name
S/A/N: Stuffed Animal Name
The clock ticked as you stared at the wall. Your little legs swung back and forth as you waited for your social worker, Kelly, to come pick you up. The nice policeman had offered you some lemonade or cookies, but you had just shook your head, your hair bouncing on your shoulders.
"Hey there Y/N." You looked up at the familiar face of your social worker. She smiled, like she always did. In all your life you had never seen a person who was this happy. "Hey." You mumbled back, as you slid down the chair, to take the woman's outstretched hand. She smiled again. "Let's get you to a new place. I am sure this one is gonna be better than the last one. Maybe this is your forever home."
Kelly always talked about a forever home and a forever family, but you didn't believe in forever homes anymore. Everytime she promised this would be your home, she had to take you back a few months later. You picked up the garbage bag filled with your clothes and pulled the stuffed bunny, S/A/N, closer to your chest, before following her out of the police station and towards her car.
In the back of her car was the same old booster seat as always. You let Kelly help you climb into the car and buckle up, before she got in the front and started the car.
She looked back at you through the mirror. "It's a really short drive, so don't get too comfy." Kelly was right. We took a right and then shortly after a left, before she suddenly stopped the car in front of a building. "That's our stop."
She got out first before walking around the car and helped you get out of the car. You held onto the dark blue plastic from the garbage bag, as she rang the doorbell on one of the apartments.
"Hey who is that?" You heard a woman ask through the speaker. "This is Kelly, the social worker. I called you a few hours ago." The door hummed and Kelly pushed it open, revealing a grey hallway and a staircase into the second floor. Kelly started to go upstairs and you tried to follow her upstairs, but ended up tripping. Stairs were still a little difficult with your short legs . Kelly didn't seem to notice, but by the time you had reached the top of the stairs, she was already talking to a woman.
You pulled the bag closer and looked at S/A/N, who was safely tucked away under your arm. Carefully you stepped closer to the open apartment door. "Okay I'm gonna come in and check out your living situation once more. I know you are already approved, but I'm just gonna check it once more okay?" The woman nodded once again, letting Kelly inside before focusing her attention on you. "Hey there kiddo. My name is Natasha. Do you want to come in?" You shrugged as you looked up at her. She was really pretty. Her green eyes were sparkling and she was smiling showing off her pearly white teeth. Her hair was shoulder length and red like fire. "If you'd like we could have some cookies, while we wait for Ms. Kelly to finish."
You nodded a little and followed the redhead inside, where she showed you to the living room. "Go ahead and sit down kiddo, I'll get some cookies. Do you want some juice?" You nodded again and looked around the living room.
The couch looked pretty comfortable and there was an armchair in the same color as the couch, so they were probably bought together. There was a pretty big TV and a shelf with some DVDs.
The pictures in this room only showed Natasha and no man or children, so you were wondering where her husband was. All the families you had been in so far always had a mom and a dad, sometimes some children or foster kids like yourself.
"So how about we get to know each other?" She was back in the living room, with two glasses of juice and a plate full of cookies. You sat down on the couch as she had told me, setting down your bag next to the couch. S/A/N was still tucked away in your arms. "Who is this cutie?" The redhead asked, looking at the bunny. "That's S/A/N…" You took a deep breath, before continuing  "She's my best friend." Natasha smiled at you. "That's so cool. My best friends' names are Maria or Clint. We all work together. I'm sure you'll meet them some time."
You watched as she took a cookie. "Go ahead and take one. I can't eat all of them alone." So you took one watching her to see her reaction, but she didn't do anything to stop you so you took a bite out of the cookie, before munching it all up. The redhead just smiled at you.
"Miss Romanoff, everything looks great. You just need to sign this and we are all set." The two grown ups sat down and Natasha signed some papers. Before Kelly stood up again. "Alright everything is set. Y/N I'm gonna leave now. You know what to do in case anything happens. Okay?" You nodded and waved her goodbye as she left. "So kiddo. Want to see your room?" The redhead asked, offering you her hand, which you reluctantly took. "Kay." She showed a pretty room. The walls were colored in a soft yellow and the bedding had orange polka dots. There was a small table, a closet and a shelf for your things.
On top of the bed was a backpack. "The backpack is for you. Why don't you go check it out?" You did and inside was a brush, a toothbrush and toothpaste. Both of them were themed after your favorite movie. Some shampoo and soap. On the bottom there were two coloring books. One about fishes and oceans, the other with lots of flowers. The last item was a fresh 24 pcs pack of crayons for you to color in your new books.
You turned to the woman and smiled at her. "Thank you." She just smiled back. "You're welcome kiddo."

A BNHarem Server Collab! Check out the other works here.
Breaking news: We have yet another report to add to the slew of attacks this month, this comes just days after we broadcast rumours of villains running rampant over the city. This spate of attacks has put the entire metropolitan area at a standstill, road closures and damaged property making it difficult for commuters to get to work in the morning. Road maintenance endeavour to do its best to keep the city running, but it seems futile when these attacks continue to increase. The entire city was brought to a standstill by the mysterious villain who has still not been named, but reports show they are nothing like we have ever experienced before.
Where are the heroes now? Who will save us from the terror overwhelming our city?
Every day the crime toll continues to rise and we have no one here to protect us. The Hero Public Safety Commission assured us earlier in the week that the crime rate would go down, that the top Heroes are out there protecting our city, but if so, where are they? Is it really safe to go out anymore, who can we trust? Would you put your life in the hands of a Hero today? When they have proved our streets are no longer safe. We still have no information on what is going on, or who is involved but we must remain observant. We will continue to report the latest news as we receive it, but for now, we must implore you to heed the warnings of the city-wide curfew that is soon to be implemented. If anyone has any information on these occurrences in the city please send them to us or contact the police, you can remain anonymous. The safety of our citizens is what is most important, stay vigilant and don’t go out unless it is absolutely necessary.
Christ, what a load of bullshit the news was nowadays. Constantly whining and squealing about what heroes did and didn’t do, promoting fear-mongering like it was the hottest trend. Between your father and two older brothers dedicating their life to the cause of justice, the world always felt just a little safer to you, the naive little thing that you were. And tonight was no exception.
Despite the rapidly increasing crime rates, your judgment to grab a couple of drinks in the city with your friends was hardly swayed. The stress of it all was getting to you and you’d love nothing more to drink your heart out at one of the few spots still left open. It was a sleazy place, but it was fun. If anything, you found a bar in the area where your eldest brother was currently stationed patrolling.
Touya had always been protective of you ever since the two of you were children, and he carried that same possessiveness well into your adulthood. Always chasing off any potential suitors, keeping you out of trouble, and generally being a menace to anyone who thought they were good enough to be around his favorite little sister.
By the end of the night, stumbling around drunkenly was the only thing keeping you upright as you made your way out of the club and onto the street, looking for a taxi to get you home. Sirens wailed faintly in the distance, a mess of blue and red lighting up the darkened streets.
“Hey sweetheart. Need a hand?”
Grubby hands met your arms the same time the cool air of the night did, tugging and pulling at you to come closer, wherever that may be. Jaunts and laughter echoed off the buildings, only adding to the haziness the alcohol induced. “What’s a pretty little thing like yourself doing out here all on your lonesome?”
Weak attempts to push the group of assaulters off you were in vain as they groped and squeezed your body at their pleasure. “Come on, we’re just trying to keep ya company. Right, boys?”
“Stop..”
Your whine came across much more pathetic than you could have ever hoped, only earning more chuckles from the men. “Just relax, sweetheart. We’ll take good care of you.”
Blue flames danced around the group of you, closing the lot of you against the building wall in a small circle of fire.
“Will you now? Last I checked, I'm the only man suited for that.” Touya was less than amused to have found out from Fuyumi that you traveled into the city given its state, even more so when he saw how drunk and disorderly you were being.
“T-Touya-nii!”
The men untangled themselves from you with ease, tossing you into the arms of your expectant brother, who was more than glad to pull you into a tight embrace. “Shit! It's the number three, Heatstroke!”
The comforting warmth of his body and scent of his cologne settled your frantic nerves, tucking yourself closer into his arms. “Honestly, it’s like you're asking for it at this point.”
Your heart sank low in your chest, but you couldn't find the strength to move away from him as he scowled down at you.
“Look at what you're wearing, you little tease. Bet you would have loved to have them violate you, huh slut?”
Never has Touya been so venomous with you before; it made your heart hurt, even more, to see your beloved nii-san be so cruel.
“Don’t you worry, that’s why your big brother is here to show you who you really belong to.”
Shoved against the wall, he pinned your trembling form with his right knee in between your legs and his hands wandering over your skimpy dress.
“You boys can stick around to watch; let a real man show you how it's done.”
Flames singed at your dress, burning it to ashes to expose you in the cool wind of the night. Hot fingers pressed into your skin, littering marks in their wake before they wrapped around your throat. “You were just begging for nii-san to come to save your slutty ass, huh, princess? I know you checked my patrol schedule before ending up at this dive.”
His hand tightened around your neck, his lips at your ear. “Wanted nii-san to come put you in your place, yeah? After fuckin’ teasing me all these years, you finally cracked me. Are you proud of yourself, little girl?”
A whine slipped from your constricted throat, your smaller hand gripping at the large one squeezing you with everything it had. “And now you've got an audience to witness my ownership over you. You're mine, little girl.”
Finally releasing your throat, his hands traveled down to your chest and groped at your roughly, pinching and pulling at your soft, sensitive nipples. Bile was rising in your throat as you drowned in your own fear, feeling him drag you into the depths of depravity.
“What’s the matter, imouto? I thought you said I was your favorite. You're hurting my feelings, y’know.”
“Touya, please-”
A scoff slapped you hard in the face as his knee jerked up against your cunt. “Don’t start with me. I know who you really are and what you really want, even better than yourself.”
His words stabbed at your heart, and his wandering hands only seemed to pour salt over the wounds. “You’re nothing more than my whore, little sister.”
Hips ground against your backside in a slow, teasing manner, groans pushing past his lips as he did so. “You have no one to blame but yourself.”
His erection was pressed flush against you, straining in his pants before he unzipped himself. At this point, you were more than sobered up running on fear and adrenaline alone. Your panties were ripped clean off with his free hand while the other stroked his hardening cock. “Look at me.”
The tip was aligned with your hole, rubbing slightly to gather the minimal wetness between your lips. “I said look at me.”
Teary eyes peaked up at him through wet lashes, silently pleading with a man who was not known for mercy.
“Good fuckin’ girl, so obedient for your big brother.”
With one snap of his hips, Touya fully sheathed himself inside of your tight cunt, groaning at the way you squealed for him. “Aw, you like that, huh, princess. Feeling good?”
A warbled moan was the only response you could give him as he slowly began to pull out. The alcohol had you buzzing enough to block out the pain of the stretch, and damn did you feel filled to the brim.
“Can’t wait to breed this greedy little cunt of yours.”
His pace was slow, agonizingly so. Touya couldn't help but savor every second of the first time having been inside you, especially after dreaming about it for so long. God, if it didn't turn him on to have an audience, knowing that these men knew he was fucking his sister.
What would the media think? God, the news cycle would be ripped to shreds tomorrow over this breaking story. But hey, no PR is bad PR.
The thought of finally having staked his claim in you almost had him coming prematurely, but he had to hold out for your very first time together, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.
Heh, your crying face was so cute. Those tears weren't shy by any means and neither were your sobs. It's alright, you’ll learn to love being Touya’s cocksleeve.
“Say you love me.”
An impossible request when you're being violated by the person you held dearest to your heart.
His pace had picked up brutally, slamming into you without care for his flames spreading wildly nor the group of assaulters who seemed to vanish once they had the opening to.
“I-I love you, nii-san! I love you!”
Your cries were shrill and whiny, echoing into the chaotic night. The grip on your hips was heating up, so much so that his handprints were burned into your love handles.
“Good girl, good little slut.”
His breathing was erratic, hot against your neck as he growled and grunted into your ear. “Gonna let nii-san breed this pretty little pussy? Yes, you are. I know you are because you're fuckin’ mine, bitch.”
Moaning out your name, Touya came deep inside your womb, thick ropes of his cum painting your insides. You were soon to follow thanks to his thumb against your clit, causing you to writhe and whine in his arms.
Utterly spent, you rested against the brick wall you were pinned to, feeling the cum drip out of your still filled hole.
“Let’s get you home and into my bed, princess. I gotta go have a chat with Dad and Shouto, let ‘em know you’re fully off limits now.”

Inspired by 9-1-1 (on Fox), which is my current obsession. I highly recommend checking it out and it’s spin-off series 9-1-1: Lonestar. If you already like 9-1-1 and Buddie (Buck and Eddie) then you should check out my new main account @therogueheart. Liberty has been taken with protocols and practices here, but the land of fiction knows no rules.
Firefighter!Tony x Civilian!Peter.
TW: Age difference | Under-negotiated sexual content | Unrealistic practises
“NYFD! We’re evacuating the block!”
“NYFD, are any residents present?”
Peter jerked awake to loud yelling and incessant pounding on his door, flailing blearily in bed for a moment before he fell off the side of in a heap of limbs and bedding, scrambling to get upright.
He shrugged on a hoodie and tripped into a pair of combat boots, stumbling his way sleepily to the door. He was operating on barely five hours of sleep and felt every hour he was sorely missing - though his midterms were a good enough reason to burn the midnight oil.
He wrenched the door open just as a firefighter on the other side went to swing the breach ram into it, letting out a squeak of panic as it stopped mere inches from his belly. The man wielding it was huge; with short blond hair and shoulders that could fit a person comfortably on either side.
“That was close, I could’ve ruptured your entire torsal cavity and killed you!” the firefighter boomed cheerfully, straightening up with a broad, dazzling smile. Peter let out a faint noise and did his best not to pass out, sagging against the doorframe and gripping it.
He was wide fucking awake now, that was for sure.
“My name is Thor, I’m with the NYPD, Manhattan division. We’re evacuating the block, there’s been a gas leak on the lower and mid levels and there’s risk of combustion,” the man ordered, slinging the ram over his shoulder and gesturing to the hallway. Peter could hear other voices, all similar conversations amidst the yells of NYPD, open up!
“Uh,” was all Peter got out before he was being ushered out of his doorway. Firefighter Thor nudged him several steps forwards before Peter’s brain finally came online and he jerked to a stop.
“Wait! I need my Adderall and my phone! If I don’t call Aunt May she’s gonna kill me and if I don’t take my meds I’m gonna be screwed!”
Thor looked undecided, brows pinching. “You shouldn’t-”
“It’s okay, Thor. Move onto the North quadrant; I’ll stay with this one,” came a voice from behind them and Peter turned, shrinking in on himself a little.
Illuminated in the crappy hallway lighting was a man who looked like he’d stepped straight off a movie billboard. He wasn’t as tall or the same brand of clean-cut Hollywood handsome that Thor was, but he was just as attractive. More so, if Peter was going to acknowledge his tendency to lust after men twice or even thrice his age.
The man had black hair swept into a neat side-leaning quiff, a hint of salt and pepper at his temples. His facial hair had been styled in a way that ought to look ridiculous but only served to give him a unique, sharp look, accentuating the shape of his jaw.
The man winked at him and Peter realised he’d been staring. When he glanced to the side Thor had already moved off out of sight and the firefighter left behind gestured to Peter’s door, which was thankfully still open ajar from where he’d been rushed out.
“Uh, thanks. Thank you...Sir? Officer?” he cringed at his own awkwardness, shuffling past. The man looked amused, quirking a brow and pursing his lips a little, even as something indescribable flashed in his eyes.
“Sir works just fine, if that’s your thing. But for the record - I’m Captain Stark. Pretty boys get to call me Tony, though,” the man winked again, teasing seeping into his voice as Peter flushed and beelined for his bed, grabbing his phone from it’s charger and scooping up his bill box and keys.
He lamented not being able to grab anything else, but he knew better than to put himself (and someone else) at risk by lingering. Tony ushered him out of the door with a hand on the small of his back, guiding him towards the stairwell. Peter could hear noises and voices on the lower levels but realised with surprise that they were the only two left on the topmost floor.
“You were dead to the world, kid. Thor was banging on your door like crazy. We almost gave you up for not in,” Tony voiced, seemingly understanding his realisation. Peter flushed again and mumbled something about studying, hurrying down the stairs as quickly as he could, Tony a close and solid presence at his back.
It wasn’t until the cool, outside air hit his legs that he realised he was still only wearing a thin hoodie and the shorts he’d gone to sleep in. He shivered in dismay, wrapping his arms around himself. He wasn’t the only one who’d clearly been dragged out of bed - there were people milling around in robes and pyjama sets.
One poor man was even shivering in a ratty blanket, suds dripping from his hair and into his eyes.
“What happened?” he asked, doing his best to stop his teeth from chattering.
“Residents on the lower levels reported strong smells of sulphur and gas. We think it’s a line rupture or faulty heater somewhere. Full evac is protocol until we know for sure and can get started on a fix,” the fire Captain answered, steering him a little away from the main crowd and to one of the trucks.
“Take a seat, kid,” Tony offered, gesturing to the step-up of the truck. Peter did, flinching as his bare skin met the icy metal. The man left him there, turning away to resume his role as he barked orders and disappeared off into the fray. Peter busied himself with his phone, only looking up when Tony’s voice boomed out over the crowd sometime later.
“Alright, everybody listen up!” the man yelled, clapping his hands. “We’ve located the source of the gas and the good news is that it’s a relatively easy fix. The bad news is that it’ll take a minimum of four hours. In the name of safety, none of you can return to the building until it’s deemed safe to do so. Your landlord and building technicians will get in contact as soon as they’ve been given the okay for you to return home. In the meantime, I suggest you go visit friends, family, or find a nice coffee shop while you wait!”
An immediate chorus of groans, complaints and angry remarks bubbled up, the firefighters all doing their best to marshal the situation and contain the displeasure. Peter shuffled where he sat, chewing his lower lip in frustration.
Aunt May was half a city away and on shift; Ned was visiting his Grandma and MJ’s girlfriend had stayed the night, meaning if Peter valued his eyes he couldn’t show up at her door.
Which meant he was probably going to spend the next four hours shivering at a Starbucks and studying on his phone.
Great.
“You good, kid?” the voice was joined by a pair of turnout clad legs and Peter looked up, tossing his phone between his hands. Out in the natural light Captain Stark was even more handsome, a strange mix between rugged and polished.
“Um, yeah. Just...Trying to decide which coffee shop I’m gonna move into,” he sighed, offering a weak smile. The Captain looked thoughtful.
“Little thing like you, Mom and Dad weren’t just out getting milk?” his tone was teasing but curious. Peter shook his head.
“Uh, no. I don’t...I did live with my Aunt. But I graduated highschool early and got a scholarship for the Manhattan Institute of Advanced Sciences. That shitty little studio is all mine,” he rattled the keys in his pocket and shifted. His butt had warmed the step some, but it still wasn’t exactly comfortable.
As if sensing his discomfort the man shifted, peeling himself out of the huge, heavy turnout jacket. “Here, sit up a little,” the man coaxed, crouching down. Peter found himself enveloped in the jacket as Captain Stark wrapped it around him and tucked it under his ass and thighs, pulling it shut so it cocooned him in the heat.
It smelt of soap and aftershave and maybe a little bit of sweat, and Peter found himself relaxing immediately, giving a hum of pleased satisfaction.
Tony was smiling at him when he opened his eyes again and he flushed, saved from embarrassment by a tall, lithe man approaching.
“Cap, we got ‘em all squared. Company is on the way for the fix. The one-five-nine offered to stay and play babysitter. We’re clear to move out.” The man had a purple band-aid on his right brow and did a double-take when he looked down at Peter. “We get a new recruit, Cap?”
Captain Stark looked thoughtfully between Peter and the man, fingers curling around his waistband.
“Alright. Barton, round up the others, call to move out. Have the one-five-nine use radio line six if they need us. We’re bringing back a station puppy.”
‘Barton’ glanced at Peter again, eyes raking over him before he did something between a smile and a smirk. “Copy that,” he confirmed, spinning on his heel and jogging off.
“Huh?” was all Peter could think to say.
“You’ve got nowhere better to go and you’ll freeze without getting changed. I’ve got some spare clothes at the station and you can hole up on the couch until we get the go-ahead to send you home. Rogers can cook, so let’s see if we can’t put a good breakfast in that belly,” Tony responded, nudging him up and out of the way so he could open the truck door.
And that was how Peter found himself wedged into the truck with Clint Barton, Thor Odinson and Steve Rogers. They crammed a spare headset on him and grilled him on student life as they drove, Captain Stark chiming in from the front of the truck.
The station they pulled into was huge, newly renovated and vast. Firefighter Thor set two hands on his hips, lifting him out of the truck easily and setting him down on the floor, ruffling his hair before dogpiling onto Steve, both of them stumbling and grappling away, arguing in snippets about door breaches.
A little dazed, he startled when a hand fell to his back again and turned, flushing when Captain Stark smirked at him and nudged him towards the locker room. The others were already there, stripping out of their turnouts and talking animatedly.
Peter was divested of the jacket but was given a thicker, warmer hoodie emblazoned with ‘NYPD’ and ‘Stark’, the older man rooting around in a locker for a moment before producing a pair of sweats.
They were baggy but he double-tied them and rolled up the ankles and found them more than comfortable, shyly thanking the man. Tony was watching him, eyes dark again with that hidden thought, before he seemingly shook himself out of it and herded Peter towards a set of steps.
Upstairs was a kitchen space and a small common area with two couches and a TV. Barton immediately handed him a steaming mug of herbal tea and Captain Stark ushered him to the table and after several minutes of sitting in their midst and listening to firefighting stories, Steve placed a plate of toast, beans, bacon and eggs under his nose.
“Eat it before Barton mauls you for it,” Steve advised with a grin, sinking into the seat opposite him and stretching out, one arm slung around the back of Thor’s chair. Peter took the warning and dug in, shamelessly moaning at the taste. The eggs had been seasoned and there was something in the butter on the toast that made it rich and almost a little salty.
“Better than sex, huh kid?” Tony teased from his side and Clint gasped, throwing his hands over Peter’s ears.
“He doesn’t know what that is yet!”
After breakfast he was bundled onto the couch, handed a mug of tea to keep his hands warm and the remote to the TV as the others stomped down the staircase, citing organising their gear.
The alarm blared out as he was watching a nature documentary and he leaned over the balcony rail just in time to watch them leaping into the truck, flushing as the Captain shot him a wink before shutting the truck door, it’s sirens wailing and lights flashing as it pulled out of the bay.
They weren’t gone that long, but when the truck pulled back into the bay it was covered in dust and dirt.
He padded down the staircase, pulling on the sleeves of his hoodie as he watched them all descend from the vehicle. They looked a little dusty and grimy, but otherwise unharmed.
“Winch rescue up on the hiking trails,” Clint informed him as he jogged past, beelining for a room just past the lockers. “I’ve got dust in places it doesn't belong!”
The worst of them all was Steve, who’d apparently tripped over the winch line and gone tumbling down the hillside. He was largely unhurt, but he was also the last one out of the showers thanks to needing some extra scrubbing.
“C’mon, kid. Time to earn your keep,” Tony teased once they were clean and dressed in LAFD shorts and shirts. They were filling buckets and bringing out plastic boxes full of soaps and polish, and he almost whimpered when he realised they were going to clean the truck.
He was practically living a piece of fanfiction.
Or torture. Either one was applicable.
It took exactly ten minutes for someone to lose their shirt. Peter didn’t know if it was fortunate or unfortunate that it was Steve, who flexed his pecs with a wink when he caught Peter staring. As if not to be outdone, Thor immediately tugged his shirt over his head, baring an even bigger, beefier torso that fed the red flames burning up Peter’s cheeks.
“Alright, show offs. Stop preening and get cleaning,” Tony barked at them good-naturedly, rolling his eyes as he handed Peter a sponge and flicked suds at the two taller blonds, who pulled faces but dove into the work with vigor.
In an attempt to cool down his embarrassment he turned his attention to the truck, scrubbing gently in broad circles to match what the others were doing. He’d never realised just how big firetrucks were and he wondered idly how often they had to do this.
“Hey, shortstack, you wanna be on top?”
“Excuse me?” Peter squeaked, rounding on Captain Stark, who smirked at him and gestured to the roof of the truck and the little side ladder.
“On the roof. Tends to get gritty up there,” the man drawled, eyeing him in thinly veiled amusement. It had to be on purpose, Peter realised. Especially when he moved to the side ladder and a set of rough hands wrapped around his hips, boosting him up several rungs.
He settled down to scrub, listening to the soundtrack of the station and the men below, peering over the edge now and then to watch them or to join in the conversation. It was dizzying - having them all grinning up at him, sunny and sparkling and half-naked.
Mercifully, there wasn’t too much more teasing as they scrubbed and buffed and wiped. He wasn’t sure his cheeks could take getting any hotter - but then, where safer to combust but in the middle of a firehouse?
Captain Stark helped him down from the roof again with the same hold around his hips, thumbs rubbing brief circles along the ridges of the bones before the man stepped aside with a quirked smile.
“Hungry, kid?”
“If I don’t get fed soon I might start chewing off my own foot,” he harrumphed with a grin, ducking his head when Clint barked a laugh and ruffled his hair.
“Kid after my own stomach,” the man drawled, taking the steps three at a time in a way that Peter and his short legs watched enviously.
Lunch was buffet bits like potato chips and little sponge-cake fingers and fruit, which Peter didn’t mind at all. He threw grapes into Clint’s mouth and arm-wrestled Steve and deliberately paid no attention at all to where Captain Stark’s leg pressed against his own under the table.
In the grand five hour total that he was there they got called out twice more, once for a tree rescue (a man who’d tried to save money by cutting his own yard tree, not a cat, much to Peter’s disappointment) and a small kitchen fire that left them bitching for a full hour afterwards about how people needed to stop trying to be Gordon Ramsey when they could barely cook packet ramen.
And then, just when the others were beginning to get shift about nearing their time to come off rotation, Peter’s phone rang.
It was his landlord, sounding gruff and disinterested as he informed Peter the apartment had been deemed safe to re-enter, although all aparts were going to be required to keep their gas appliances off for the night and their windows open.
The others had stopped milling around in the locker room and listened in with thinly concealed interest, offering nods and smiles when it was revealed Peter was safe to hit home.
“Just on time, huh?” Steve beamed at him, ruffling his hair.
“Aw, man. Do we have to give him back?” Clint whined in protest, swooping down to wrap himself around Peter like a clingy mink shrug. Peter giggled, tucking himself into the hold and putting on a pretend pout.
Truthfully; he didn’t want to leave. At first he’d been apprehensive about being stuck in a building with a bunch of strange men, but over the course of the day he’d come to cherish their family dynamic and the easy, comfortable companionship.
“You knew he was on loan, you layabouts,” Tony chastised them fondly, rolling his eyes. When his crew had been bullied into resuming their prep to leave, Captain Stark sank onto the bench next to Peter.
“You want a ride back, kid? I live past that area anyway and it’s my fault you’re so far out from home,” he noted with a warm smile, tugging on a boot and stooping to lace it.
Peter bit at his lower lip. Technically; he should say no. He didn’t actually know this man, and being a firefighter meant nothing for how trustworthy he was.
But…
“You don’t mind?” he asked lightly.
“It would be Captain’s honor,” Thor assured him with a wink. And that was that, the others finished dressed and they moved out to the parking lot as a herd, Peter trailing awkwardly along behind Tony towards a sleek, red and gold Audi.
He was hugged and ruffled and treated to a sizable farewell from the others, each of them pointedly telling him not to be a stranger as they piled into their vehicles and drove off in a cloud of muted music and squealing tyres.
When he turned around Tony had slipped over to the car and stood with the passenger door open, stooped into a half bow.
The interior was crisp and clean and smelt like fresh linen when he sank into the seat, tucking his legs in carefully. Tony slid into the driver’s side like he lived to be behind the wheel of a flashy car, slipping on a dark pair of shades and letting his window slide down.
Tony switched radio on to a smooth rock station and Peter let himself relax in the seat, phone still clutched carefully in hand just in case, but thoroughly enjoying the rumble of the car and the way Tony looked behind the wheel.
They didn’t speak much on the way but Peter snuck several glances at the other man, shivering through a bolt of unsteady heat each time Tony caught the motion and tipped his head, smirking at him from behind those shaded lenses.
The apartment building loomed up on them far too soon, signalling the end of a day Peter was confident he’d keep in his memories right up until his last breath.
(And if it tempted him to maybe one day set fire to his kitchen a little bit, well.)
Tony pulled the car to a stop in the parking lot, leaning casually back in his seat.
“Maybe you should, um, check my apartment?”
It took Peter a moment to realise he was the one who’d spoken, mortified as Tony pushed down his shades to peer at him over the rims with an arched brow.
“To, uh, um…” Peter squirmed on his seat, doing his best not to think about how it was the other man’s clothes he was wearing. “Make sure it’s safe. I mean, I’ve built up a little trust. With you. Who knows if the other guys missed something?”
And what he wouldn’t give for a sinkhole to just swallow him up right then.
But to his surprise Captain Stark just peered at him for another moment, then smiled. “Sure thing, kid. The other’s’d never forgive me anyway if I let you die off in the night.”
With cheeks hot enough to sear a steak, Peter slipped out of the car and practically ran for the building, hyper aware of Tony’s presence beside him as they ascended the steps. God, he was so fucking stupid. Tony was probably going to poke around the apartment a little, open the window then skip on back home and tell his wife all about the strange kid he’d had to babysit all day.
His hands were shaking as he unlocked his door but if the man noticed he said nothing, stepping in behind him and pushing the door gently shut. Peter toed off his boots by the door and turned, watching the man roam the apartment, sniffing here and there and opening the window in the kitchenette.
“Hey, come here,” Tony’s voice called when he was plugging his phone in. Jamming the cord into the device, he bounced out of the room and slid to a halt next to Tony, who held a hand out to steady him. “Do you feel that?”
“What?” Peter asked in confusion, head tilting.
“Sexual tension,” Tony grinned at him, winking terribly.
“Wha-- Oh,” Peter rocked back on his heels, cheeks blazing.
“You’re not subtle, kid. I got ribbed the whole day out over it,” Tony teased him, reaching out to ever so gently tuck one of Peter’s mahogany curls behind his ear.
“Sorry?” Peter tried, fingers curling around the cuffs of his - Tony’s - hoodie.
“I know a way you can make it up to me,” the only man purred, leaning in a little closer. And then all at once he softened, head tilting a little. “Only, of course, if you want to.”
“Aren’t you… Married?” Peter asked hesitantly, even as his heart kicked up a notch and heat gave a lazy spark between his lips. Tony’s brows shot towards his hairline.
“Not since I last checked, no,” Tony answered, sounding terribly amused. “Where did you get that thought?”
And oh, no. The last thing Peter was going to do was tell Tony he thought the man was so attractive it was feasibly impossible for him to not be taken. His ego would get so big he’d float off to space and then where would Peter be?
Instead of answering he shifted, bracing his hands on Tony’s chest and rising onto his tiptoes so he could press a chaste kiss to Tony’s mouth, the man’s stubble tickling the corner of his mouth before he pulled away, shrinking in on himself and rubbing at his lower lip.
Tony blinked down at him for a moment. Then he shifted, leaning down to wrap his hands around Peter’s thigh and hip, lifting him up with a flex of work-honed muscles. Peter clutched at his shoulders, legs automatically wrapping around Tony’s waist.
It was a new kind of novelty; to feel thick, corded muscle beneath his palms, to feel the cut of it between his thighs, to feel the scrape of stubble over his jaw and his mouth. All of Peter’s other partners had been close to his own age and relatively close in terms of build and body.
A few strides had Peter’s back pressed against the wall where he let his head fall back with a thump, mouth falling open on a whine.
“Look at you having your five minutes of bravery,” Tony teased him, shifting one leg so his thigh helped to hold Peter’s weight, fingers flexing against his skin. “What happened to the quiet little kid who burnt up anytime he looked my way?”
Peter had nothing to say, shivering through a hiccupped sound when something thick and hard rode the crease of his thigh and hip, hot between the layers of fabric that separated them. Instead of answering he pawed at the man’s shirt, desperately wanting to see the carved flesh beneath it.
“Okay, sweetheart. I’ll give you what you want,” Tony soothed him, adjusting them both before he helped to tug on the fabric, muscles shifting and bunching as he worked it over his head and threw it off somewhere to the side.
“Oh,” Peter choked, setting his palms down on the plane of Tony’s stomach. He was beautiful; tanned skin marred with a smattering of scars that stood out pink and pale. He knew better than to focus on them but he couldn’t help running his thumb over a half-moon scar at the bottom of Tony’s pectoral.
“Emergency field incision,” Tony murmured, nipple peaking at the close touch. “Had to mesh-wall my heart.”
Peter had no words for that, either. In all the fun of the firehouse he’d almost forgotten the reality of such a dangerous job. He ran his thumb gently over it again, as if to kiss it, and tightened his legs to bring Tony into him again.
It made them press together in a delicious, warm friction, Tony’s pupils dilating further when Peter tried to stifle the noise the touch prompted. He was squeezed back into the wall as Tony leaned down, catching his mouth in a slick, gentle kiss.
“Hey, kid,” Tony murmured against his mouth, leaning back just enough to speak, teeth scraping over his swollen lower lip.
“Hm?” Peter whimpered, trying to tilt his head to reach him again.
“You wanna see why they call me Captain Firehose?”
Peter’s lashes fluttered as he looked up, mouth dropping open for a moment of pure, unadulterated suspense.
“That was awful,” he groaned with a giggle, tickled by the cheesy line and rendered pink-cheeked by the soft, fond look at Tony fixed him with.
“Made you smile, though,” Tony purred, adjusting his hold as he ducked down to press a kiss to Peter’s cheek, lips trailing over the warm skin before he pulled back and away, muscles flexing as he held Peter up without the support of the wall.
Blushing harder, Peter wound his arms around the man’s neck. “Okay, Captain. Show me how to handle your hose,” he whispered, yelping and laughing when Tony spun them around towards the bedroom with a grin.

I just read your nsfw Hybrid with Bakugou and it's SOOO PERFECT. So, I was thinking, imagine this: Relationships between hybrids and humans are still frowned upon and one of your co-workers begins to disturb you about dating Katsuki. You are annoyed, but you don't tell Bakugou until one day your co-worker tries to harass you (kiss you, pull your clothes off) saying "you shouldn't be with that damn DOG". You run away and come home crying and sobbing over and over. Giiirl, Bakugou will go FERAL. ❤
I'm so glad you liked it 💗💗💗💗💗 Yes, god, Bakugou would indeed be F E R A L indeed; ok, i started writing it and I somehow progressed this story further. MORE LORE TO HYBRID!BAKU. I also went with the flow, got very carried away and gave it a different ending to what you suggested, so I really hope you don't mind. 😅 It just happened, maybe made it darker than it should've been, oop—, BUT everything works out.
Warnings: mentions of attempted sexual assault;
Word count: 1.8k or so, I just keep adding stuff 💀;
[ Masterlist ] [ Part 1 and Part 2 of General Hybrid!Bakugou HCs. ]
Tumblr media
× you weren't really hiding it because it was legal, yet some [ many ] were judgemental about it
× you also weren't publicly proclaiming it but whatever, that didn't stop you from putting a picture of Katsuki playfully biting your cheek as wallpaper on your phone
× one of your co-workers, Albert, was somewhat pushy
× while you got along with everyone and had an okay relationship with them, he wasn't part of your friends group
× yet you always found him near you everywhere, to which you paid no mind
× it was once he looked over your shoulder when you unlocked your phone to see that picture, and Katsuki's sandy ears could be seen
× again, you didn't hide it so when he asked who was that you just said your boyfriend
× "Uhm, your boyfriend is a... hybrid?" he asked making a face; that's when you knew Albert had to stay away for real
× you just smiled and minded your own business
× but throughout the days he kept dropping comments about, his attitude even pushier than before and you realized talking to him about it wouldn't help
× "is he any better than a normal man?"
× "like... I don't get it, [Y/N], he's a dog..." he'd whisper at you while on lunch break, baffled expression on his face
× you gave him a look of disgust, getting up from the table and going somewhere else; why the hell was he following you around?
× "seriously, tell me, is it the sex?" Albert asked hours later, following you to the exit, unaware of your absolutely uncomfortable responses as you quickened your steps, but he grabbed you by the arm, surprising you with his strength
× "if it's just the sex you better know there are some men, real men out there that can take good care of you, [Y/N]."
× you had to raise your voice for him to let go of you since heads started to turn towards both of you
× "Just drop it, Albert, it's none of your business!" you said before turning to leave
× when you walked through your apartment door you were rattled
× Katsuki walked through the door just as you prepared yourself a tea, shaking slightly, frown on your face
× "Hey, what's up?" he eyed you and sniffed the air, feeling you nervous, cup of tea almost spilling everywhere; "Hey, hey, hey, give me that. [Y/N], seriously, are you ok?"
× "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine." you lied and he knew, it was obvious even if you pretended everything was dandy
× on the other side you didn't want to make him worry or anything, Albert was just annoying and hopefully he now understood where he was standing
× but Bakugou Katsuki ain't having it, babe, nuh-huh
× he didn't say anything else about it that day though, just acted as normal but prepared your favorite dinner and a warm bath for you
× the next day he decided to pick you up from work by just arriving there half an hour earlier and see if something is really up, to make sure you're fine and the issue is from there
× he'd have to walk there from his job and then you'd both drive home and it wasn't a problem as he'd do overtime some other day;;
× what he did not expect was to hear your scream of help from the wooden area behind the parking lot in your office building
× let's go back in time for context;
× you walked out of work in a rush, finishing earlier than anyone else, car as your destination just ready to bolt home; Albert was eyeing you funny the whole day but stayed behind, so you didn't know if to feel worried or relieved
× as you walked to your car and pulled your keys, someone smashed you against the door
× "ungrateful bitch" you recognized the voice instantly and froze
× before you could open your mouth he put his palm on it and dragged you somewhere
× you dropped everything on the cement, bag, keys, phone...
× of course you were putting a fight but he was strong
× "I tried to be nice, sweeheart—" he mumbled while struggling to drag you into the wooden area
× "I told you, yeah? You shouldn't be with that damned mutt!" he pushed you unto a tree, making his first and last mistake, because he freed your mouth
× "HELP!" you screamed while he started grabbing your clothes, ripping sounds could be heard
× "I'm gonna have to show you what a real man can give you—"
× and as if planets aligned, in a blurr, Bakugou Katsuki appeared, jumping straight on him and knocking him out instantly, a loud crack deafening your ears
× Katsuki was shaking in anger
× he barely could control his body, his eyes were bloodshot and he had the most feral scowl you'd ever seen on him
× you just trembled in place, grabbing your clothes to cover yourself as you could
× Albert groaned on the floor, twisting his body to turn around and see what attacked him and in a broken speech, blood coming out of his mouth, he attempted to swear, but Bakugou's growl made him freeze in realization
× he was about to pounce again, any self-control leaving his mind when you hugged him tight
× in your arms you could feel his ragged breath, a deep continuous growl still coming from within his chest
× at this point some other people heard your cries too and called the police
× meanwhile you tried to calm him down because you felt he wanted to murder that son of a bitch
× intention was clear in his eyes, even Albert stood there terrified, broken jaw forgotten as he tattered on the floor like a weak animal
× "If you ever fucking dare to look in [Y/N]'s direction again I will find you—" he said and you shivered, holding him even more tightly "—I will kill you." he tried to take a step further but you wouldn't let him "And I'll make sure your body is never found."
× sirens could be heard in the distance and after that everything passed fastly
× they took Albert away, who was muttering scrawled stuff, and took both of your statements
× much to everyone's surprise they didn't cuff Bakugou [ 💖because we live in a society💖 ] so that was a good thing;
× although you did have to go to the station; they found security camera footage of the attempted assault, which Katsuki had to watch and almost erupted in rage yet again
× but it all came to an end when you got home, both absolutely silent
× he was huffing and walking around the place, shoulders tense and hands fisted into balls
× just to distract himself he started cleaning around the house and not looking at you, while you still stood there with his jacket on staring at him
× it wasn't until he finally looked at you when he really took in your state
× until now you behaved exemplary, calming him down, giving a statement, just acting strong
× yet once you reached the comfort of your own home you just couldn't take it any longer
× tears were falling on your face, you were shaking in place at the entrance, hugging his jacket close to your body as if it were your salvation and you just watched him
× it dawned on him how his rage took over him so hard that he couldn't focus on anything else, not even your heartbeat, your scent, your breath
× in an instant he was all over you, hugging you tight and lifting you up
× "I got you, baby, you're safe now." He'd whisper in your ear as you'd pull him closer
× he'd prepare you a warm bath and never leave your side while whispering sweet nothings to you
× "I'm never leaving out of my sight again, do you understand?"
× "I'll kill him if he ever comes close to you."
× "You're safe." he'd say as pulled you into him
× you spent the following days at home as you were granted emergency leave from work and found out the bastard was, of course, fired and prosecuted
× it would've been a lengthy process but from there on some things changed between you
× he'd walk to your job from his, even changed his work hours to fit yours, and you'd go home together, for starters
× his behaviour changed and even if he still gave you the Special Bakugou Attitude, he was gentler and sometimes you'd catch him looking at you like you're the most precious thing ever
× he wouldn't really word it at first but seeing you like that and finding out it was basically because of him really fucked him up
× it would take you to remind him that it's not his fault he's a hybrid, you always want to be with him, you don't care what he is really and the only one to blame was Albert
× [ he'd growl whenever his name would be mentioned ]
× anyway, remember, he needs to be held just as much as you do and that guilt will take some time to wash away; you got each other's back and that's what mattered at the end of the day
× but the weirdest thing was, as you went to the police station some more times, Bakugou somehow impressed the Captain, Tsunadu Hakamada:
× "That dude reeks of cocaine." he'd scowl and point with a sharp glare at this cuffed man sitting in a corner, making you look at him in wonder
× "How do you—"
× "Excuse me, did I hear that correctly?" someone said behind you, making you turn towards a tall blond man in uniform watching your boyfriend curiously
× "Hah?"
× low and behold, he's the captain of the precinct and asked Bakugou to come by any other day noting it would be a pretty great opportunity that would benefit both
× [ and after some attitude and snide comments from Katsuki, he agreed ]
× you went through a lot in a few weeks, like the trauma you'd both have to work through together but one good thing that came out of this situation apart from putting a piece of shit in jail was that Bakugou was offered a position as a special officer in the precinct as long as he went through the academy as anyone else would
× people were starting to see the value of hybrids and the Captain wasn't one to let go of such an opportunity
× things were progressing little by little and it gave you hope for a better tomorrow with Katsuki by your side.

jealousy [sokka]
Tumblr media
Pairing: Sokka x firebending!reader
Summary: You like Sokka. Like, reaaaaally like him. However, any time you feel like you’re ready to confess your feelings, it seems as though he finds himself wrapped up in yet another romance.
this was originally the first atla fic i ever wrote and it was inspired by Dreamer Boy’s song “Puppy Dog”!
.masterlist.
~
The first time you decided to tell Sokka how you felt about him was when the Gaang had finally reached the Northern Water Tribe. You had been debating over whether or not to confess to Sokka for weeks, ever since you had visited the village where Aunt Wu resided. She had told you that you would be a powerful bender and that your love life would be immensely successful because you were meant to end up with a guy with a heart of gold and the spirit of a warrior. When she had added that he would be a nonbender, you had just known it was Sokka and all the skipped heartbeats and butterflies you felt around him finally made sense. As the waterbenders opened the gate and Appa drifted through, you had asked to talk to Sokka. Katara and Aang were distracted by the snowy city around them and Sokka had obliged, sitting beside you as you took a deep breath to ready yourself.
“Sokka,” you began, nervousness coursing through your veins as you took a deep breath. “Listen, I li-”
“Look!” Katara interrupted, pointing at an ornate looking building. “Isn’t it beautiful?”
Sokka, who had been leaning over Appa’s saddle to get a better look at what his sister was pointing to, sighed dreamily as his gaze settled upon a teenage girl in a gondola. “Yeah, she is.”
Following his line of sight, you sighed in defeat before bringing your knees up to your chest and hugging them.
~
You decided not to bring your feelings up again until the Gaang got to Ba SIng Se safely. You were feeling more confident by the minute, at least you were until you reached the ferry station.
Your confidence dropped back down when you discovered that Suki and the rest of the Kyoshi Warriors were there as well, noticing the way the pretty girl looked at Sokka. The whole time you spent in the ferry station and the beginning of your journey through the Serpent’s Pass was spent in silence, causing Katara to worry. Eventually, she had coaxed your secret from you, looking at you with a mix of amusement and repulsion when you told her you liked Sokka.
“Really? Him?” Katara asked, looking at her brother who was currently arguing with a twelve year old. You blushed fiercely and looked away. Noticing your expression, Katara quickly tried to fix her words. “I mean, him? Yeah, he’s a dream.”
You stifled a laugh as you noticed Katara’s pained expression. “It’s alright Katara, you don’t have to be nice about it. We can’t control who we like.”
“I’m sure he likes you too,” Katara said softly. “He’s just a little slow. Plus, you’re pretty good friends, he wouldn’t know how to approach you romantically.”
You opened your mouth to reply but instead found yourself letting out a sharp yelp as the ledge you were standing on gave out.
“(Y/N)!” Katara screamed as you plummeted, making everyone stop and turn around. “Toph, do something!”
Your fall came to an abrupt stop as you landed on a flat piece of earth. You felt the slab of rock begin to slide upwards as Toph brought you back up to where everyone else was standing. Silently, you walked up to Toph and engulfed her in a hug, shaking slightly from all the adrenaline. The hug didn’t last long however, and you were soon pulled away from Toph and brought into another tight hug.
“Are you okay?” Sokka whispered as he hugged you. “Geez...what happened? You scared me to death!”
You didn’t reply, instead meeting Katara’s eyes as she gave you a knowing look. Cheeks blazing, you pulled away from Sokka and brushed yourself off. “I’m fine. Let’s keep going. We can’t waste any more time.”
After making sure that you truly were fine, Aang encouraged everyone to continue. Eventually, night fell and you all decided to stop and rest for the night. You placed your sleeping bag down next to Katara’s, only to find it being ripped away from you.
“Not too close to the edge (Y/N/N)!” Sokka exclaimed, laying your sleeping bag right next to his. “You have to be more careful.”
You rolled your eyes before walking over to him. “Ok Sokka. Whatever you say.”
“Wait!” Sokka screamed suddenly, holding his arm out to stop you from moving forwards.
“What?” you asked, slightly exasperated.
“Oh, nothing,” Sokka replied sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. “I thought I saw a spider.”
Shaking your head, you curled up in your sleeping bag, once again rolling your eyes at the way Katara was looking at the close proximity between you and Sokka. “Good night everyone.”
You struggled to fall asleep, tossing and turning until you felt Sokka get up from his spot next to you and walk off. Turning once more, you noticed Katara waving at you and trying to catch your attention. When she got it, she motioned for you to go after Sokka. Quietly getting up, you began to walk off, ignoring Katara as she whispered, “Go confess!”
Nervously wringing your hands, you made your way over to where you knew Sokka would be, once again building up your confidence. When you finally got there, your heart dropped as you saw Suki and Sokka inches away from each other.
“Oh!” you gasped, loud enough to draw their attention. They flew apart immediately, turning to look at you with wide eyes. “I’m sorry, I didn’t- I didn’t know.”
“(Y/N), wait!” Sokka shouted, looking after you as you fled. You didn’t go back to the campground, instead choosing to wander off on your own. You could feel your palms heating up, faint curls of steam escaping your nostrils as your emotions overwhelmed you and caused your bending to act up. Breathing deeply, you sat down and looked up at the moon. You stayed there all night, sighing softly and suppressing your fire as the moon seemed to glow a little bit brighter.
~
After walking in on Sokka’s almost-kiss with Suki, you decided to give up on confessing your feelings. You had all been quite busy anyways, what with trying to tell the Earth King about the upcoming solar eclipse, running from Azula, and trying to come up with a plan to invade the Fire Nation. With all that had happened, you and Sokka had drifted apart, the sudden distance between you two a little intentional on your part. Maybe it was for the better, at least that way your heart wouldn’t ache every time he smiled at you after telling you one of his jokes.
Eventually you began to wonder if Aunt Wu’s prediction was wrong. Or maybe you just hadn’t met the boy with a heart of gold and the spirit of a warrior that you were meant to end up with.
After the Day of Black Sun, the younger members of the invasion army found themselves settled into the Western Air Temple. It was there that everyone unanimously voted to have you become Aang’s firebending teacher. You had initially refused, not wanting to teach Aang firebending the way you had learned it; by depending on your emotions. You tended to have trouble controlling your fire when you allowed your emotions to take control, which wouldn’t help Aang in any way. You had only agreed to teach him after stating that you would only do it if they allowed Zuko to teach Aang as well.
Sokka had been the loudest to complain about Zuko joining your group, claiming that he was evil and that they didn’t need another firebender running around. You had been slightly offended by his comments and continuously vouched for Zuko, seeing that he had truly changed and that he wanted to help Aang. As a result, you ended up spending most of your time with the prince, offering him friendship when no one else did. A problem soon arose however, when you actually began to teach Aang how to firebend.
~ “Listen everybody, I have some pretty bad news. I’ve lost my stuff,” Zuko announced, walking into the courtyard where everyone was. You were trailing behind him quietly.
“Don’t look at me,” Toph said immediately, raising her hands in defense. “I didn’t touch your stuff.”
“He’s talking about firebending,” you stated, laughing at her words. “And he’s not the only one.”
Katara’s snickering stopped as she looked at you with wide eyes. “Not you too!”
You shifted uncomfortable as everyone stared at you. “Well, I can still bend. The issue is that my flames are too big and destructive. I’m having quite a bit of trouble trying to keep them controlled.”
“Wouldn’t big flames be a good thing?” Sokka asked. “Just teach Aang how to do it and he’ll burn the Fire Lord to a crisp.”
“It doesn’t work like that,” you said tiredly. “A lot of firebenders draw their energy from their emotions but when they’re too strong, their bending gets too dangerous and out of hand.”
“Strong emotions?” Sokka whispered, his heart speeding up slightly as he stared at you.
“Yes,” Zuko answered. “For me, it used to be anger and hatred. For (Y/N), it stems from great love or sadness.
“Zuko!” you hissed, flushing as you faced him. Zuko stared back at you, a teasing smile on his lips. You shot him an alarmed look before glancing at Sokka.
When he first arrived, Zuko had had no trouble figuring out your feelings for the Water Tribe boy. Much like Katara, he had been put off by your feelings, always having thought of Sokka as nothing more than an immature boy.
Sokka, on the other hand, had not seen the panic behind the look you had aimed at Zuko and he felt an uncomfortable feeling settle in his chest at the way the prince was smiling at you. He kept noticing the glances you were sending towards Zuko, unaware that you were actually trying to burn a hole into the side of his head with your glare. In Sokka’s head, your recent aloofness towards him was starting to make sense.
“Look,” Zuko said, drawing the attention back to him. “I don’t want to rely on anger and hatred anymore. There has to be another way to regain my bending.”
“You’re gonna need to learn to draw your firebending from a different source,” Toph said, leaning back on the rock she was sitting on. “I recommend the original source.”
“How’s he supposed to do that? By jumping into a volcano?” Sokka asked, sounding way too happy.
“No. Zuko and (Y/N) need to go back to whatever the original source of firebending is,” Toph stated once again. “For earthbending, the original benders were the badgermoles.”
You and Zuko exchanged uneasy looks before you spoke. “The original firebenders were the dragons.”
“And they’re extinct,” Zuko added, annoyance creeping onto his face when Aang mentioned that Avatar Roku used to have one. “But maybe there’s another way. The first people to learn from the dragons were the ancient Sun Warriors.”
“Yeah, but they died thousands of years ago,” you said, cutting Aang off when he began to speak. “But their civilization wasn’t too far from where we are now.”
“Maybe we can learn something by poking around their ruins!” Aang exclaimed.
“So what?” Sokka asked, standing up. “Maybe you’ll pick up some super old Sun Warrior energy just by standing where they stood a thousand years ago?”
“More or less,” you replied quietly. “Either we learn a new way to firebend, or Aang has to find a new teacher.”
~
In the few days that you had been gone with Aang and Zuko, Sokka had been in a rotten mood. Everyone else had noticed it and Teo and The Duke had even started a game to see who could annoy Sokka the most without making him explode.
It was only when Momo began to avoid him as well that Katara had finally had enough.
“What is going on with you Sokka?” Katara finally exclaimed. “When Haru tried to ask if you wanted some meat, you threw your boomerang at him!”
Sokka grumbled something under his breath, causing Katara to roll her eyes.
“You’ve been acting this way ever since (Y/N) and Zuko-” Katara trailed off as a smirk spread across her face. “You’re jealous!”
“W-What? No!” Sokka exclaimed, stumbling over his words as his face turned bright red. “Why would I be jealous? Who would I be jealous of?”
“Zuko,” Katara stated dully. “You’re jealous of Zuko and (Y/N)’s relationship.”
“They’re in a relationship?” Sokka screeched as he jumped to his feet and began pacing.
“No!” Katara said. “I was referring to their friendship.”
“Oh,” Sokka breathed, coming to a stop and running his hand through his hair, pulling it out of his warrior’s wolf tail in the process. The more he thought about how you and Zuko interacted, the more bothered he got. Katara watching him struggle with his emotions with amusement, wiping the smile off her face when he finally spoke. “I guess...I am jealous.”
Katara rolled her eyes before standing up and facing her brother, her expression becoming serious. “We know. When she gets back, just tell her how you feel. Remember, we’re up against the Fire Lord and things can change in a matter of seconds. Don’t leave things unsaid.”
Sokka sat back down and pushed his hair away from his face, thinking about Katara’s words. He stayed there for a while, smiling when he looked up and saw Appa’s silhouette growing closer and closer. Taking a few breaths, he began to hype himself up.
“Ok Sokka,” he whispered to himself. “You got this. Just tell her how you feel and everything will work out.”
He leapt up when Appa landed, immediately climbing up to reach his saddle. He was shaking with so much nervousness at what he was about to do that he didn’t notice Aang looking down at him.
“Sokka!” Aang whisper-yelled, shooting him a bright smile. “Where is everyone else?”
“They’re in the sleeping hall. It’s pretty early,” Sokka replied normally, only to be shushed by Aang as he finally reached the saddle.
“Don’t be too loud,” Aang whispered, motioning to you. Sokka felt his heart drop to his stomach as his eyes landed on you. You were sitting next to Zuko, the two of you curled up against Appa’s saddle.Your head was resting on the prince’s shoulder, his head resting on top of yours as you both napped peacefully. One of Zuko’s arms was wrapped loosely around your waist to make sure you didn’t topple over, not that Sokka was aware of that.
With a hurt expression, Sokka climbed off of Appa, dejectedly making his way into the sleeping hall. Noticing his downcast expression, Katara made her way over to him. “What’s wrong Sokka?”
“What’s wrong?” Sokka repeated sadly, walking past her. “What’s wrong is that I was too late, Katara. She likes Zuko.”
Katara looked at Sokka in confusion as he curled up in his sleeping bag, turning to face the wall. She straightened up as she heard voices approaching and turned to face you and Zuko, who was smiling at something you had said as you rubbed at your eyes sleepily.
“You’re back!” Katara exclaimed, making her way over to you. You hugged her tightly before replying.
“Yeah, we are. It was an interesting trip,” you said, smiling softly.
“It was!” Aang exclaimed, walking in. “It really helped (Y/N) and Zuko bond over these last few days!”
Sokka grumbled faintly at Aang’s words, not turning to face the group.
“We also learned a new way to firebend,” Zuko added. “A more traditional technique.”
“You should show them!” Aang said excitedly, turning to face you. “Please?”
You hesitated before nodding, not being able to deny Aang anything. Zuko agreed when he saw you nod. Quietly, the two of you made your way to the courtyard, followed by everyone else. Even Sokka had joined, being dragged along by Katara.
“Alright,” you breathed. “Here goes nothing.”
You and Zuko stood a few feet apart, breathing deeply before launching into the perfectly practiced routine you had learned from the dragons. The routine went smoothly and it was dead silent in the courtyard, apart from the occasional huff from you or Zuko. The routine came to an end when you and Zuko ended up chest to chest, the two of you breathing heavily as you looked at each other. With a small squeal, you launched yourself at him, smiling widely. You threw your arms around his neck and he grabbed your waist, stabilizing the two of you.
“We did it!” you exclaimed, only to hear soft claps from everyone else. You pulled away from Zuko in time to see Sokka storming off. Everyone’s clapping died down at Sokka’s departure, an awkward silence taking over.
“Go to him,” Katara said softly, urging you out the door. You looked back hesitantly, only to see Aang waving you off and Zuko giving you a thumbs up. You awkwardly shuffled off to where you expected Sokka to be, finding him in the sleeping hall where he was throwing his boomerang around.
“Sokka, are you okay?” you asked quietly, approaching him slowly. You’ve been acting weird and everyone’s worried about you.”
Sokka caught his boomerang once again and put it down, standing up from where he had been sitting. “What? No I’m perfectly fine.”
His response was short and you couldn’t help but flinch slightly at his sharp tone.
“You can go back to your good ol’ pal Zuko.”
Your eyebrows furrowed at his words and you crossed your arms in front of you. “Is this what this is about? Zuko? Are you really still upset over the fact that we accepted him into the group?”
Sokka stayed silent as you started walking closer to him, waving your arms in exasperation as you spoke.
“Why can’t you just accept that he’s changed? He’s clearly not the same person he used to be and now Aang has a firebending teacher. Him joining us is a good thing and you’re over here acting like-”
Your words were cut off as Sokka cupped your face in his hands. The words that were on the tip of your tongue died down as you looked into his bright blue eyes.
The two of you stood in tense silence for a minute. You felt your cheeks heat up under his touch, neither one of you saying anything as you looked at each other. Sighing softly, he rested his forehead against yours. You closed your eyes, your whole face now burning brightly from the close proximity between the two of you. You felt Sokka nudge his nose against yours and you opened your eyes to see him raise an eyebrow, an unspoken question hanging in between you. Closing your eyes once again, you nodded softly, your head spinning as Sokka’s hands began to tremble slightly before he pressed his lips to yours.
You held your breath, not fully believing what was happening. The kiss was nothing more than a brush of his lips against yours, over way too quickly as Sokka recoiled and let his hands drop before turning away.
“S-Sokka, I-” you began, stumbling over your words. Your heart was racing as you gently touched your lips, wondering if he really did feel the same way you did.
“Save it,” Sokka replied, his tone softer than earlier. “Go back to Zuko and forget I ever did that.”
“I can’t,” you replied softly, walking over to him. “I can’t forget you did that Sokka. I’ve been waiting for a sign that you might like me back for the longest time and now that I finally have it, you want me to forget about it?”
Sokka turned around, disbelief clear on his face. “You like me? N-No. You like Zuko.”
Your face softened at his words. “Is that why you’ve been in such a mood? Because you thought I liked Zuko?”
Sokka bowed his head down in disappointment. “He’s a prince (Y/N). He’s a prince and a firebender and how could I ever compete with that?”
“You don’t have to,” you replied immediately. “I like you, not him. I’ve liked you ever since I joined you guys on your journey. Zuko and I got close because we’re both firebenders and because we know what it’s like to be considered traitors to our nation, not because we like each other.”
“You don’t like Zuko?” Sokka asked dumbly. You shook your head.
“No. I already told you, I like-” you were cut off yet again, this time by Sokka pressing his lips to yours in an urgent manner. You wasted no time in kissing back, your hands coming up to rest on his chest as he grabbed your waist tightly, pulling you impossibly close. The kiss was desperate and slightly messy, the two of you pouring all of your emotions into it. You could feel his heart pounding underneath your hands and you were almost certain that he could feel yours as well.
Pulling back, you kept your eyes closed as you hesitated to ask the question on your mind. “What about Suki?”
Sokka kissed you once more before answering. “I don’t like her. I love you.”
Sokka’s eyes widened at his unexpected proclamation and he looked at you in panic. Your eyes shined brightly and you replied quickly before he could try to stutter out an excuse.
“I love you too.”
You hugged him tightly before kissing him yet again, his arms winding around your waist again as he responded enthusiastically. This was what you had been waiting for, and the safety that the two of you felt in each other’s arms was comforting.
“It took us long enough,” Sokka muttered against your lips, causing you to laugh softly.
“You talk too much,” you replied before reconnecting your lips.
The two of you only pulled away when you heard Toph’s voice, followed by multiple footsteps.
“I found them! They’re in here kissing, my feet can feel it!”

Saved - Hank Voight
Request : @mcgreads : Hey can I request a Hank Voight and reader where the reader is younger and apart of the unit and her and Voight are together as well as her being best friends with Casey and she's with Platt during that episode where she' on the T.V. interview and the bomb goes off and Voight is worried and giving out orders as not only his bestfriend is in there but also his girl and he communicates with Casey as well. Lots of fluff in the end please❤
Please forgive me if the lines aren't said by the correct people I have the transcript but it does not tell me who said what so I am going off memory!
Word Count - 1733
-----------------------------------------
You work as a secretary at the front desk of District 21, you had been working there for a few months when Trudy asked if you would go to an T.V interview with her, having not wanting to go alone and embarrass herself
Walking up the stair to intelligence you dropped their mail off to them and made your way into you boyfriends office closing the door behind you
Walking over to him you sat your self down in his lap and rested your head on his shoulder
"Trudy and I are going to leave soon" You informed him as he wrapped his arms around your waist and pressed a kiss to your forehead
"Be safe please" he said while resting his heat on top of yours
"I will I promise" You reply looking him in the eyes he leans down and you two share a kiss that was interrupted by a knock on the door
The door opened reveling Trudy
"Hey Voight is Y/N in here" She asked with out looking up from her file
"Yep right here" he replied as you sit up in his lap
"Oh good it's time to go, I'm driving" She said then turned and walked out
"Alright ill see you later when we get back" You say giving Hank one last kiss and taking his brown leather jacket with you before leaving
--------- At the interview ---------
You and Trudy had just gotten to the news station where the interview was being held, walking onto the interview set Trudy was taken to a seating area to starts the interview
"I'm so excited to be here today with Trudy Platt" the host says as Trudy sits with a smile, before Trudy could reply a beeping sound is heard through out the studio
"What is that" one person asks
--------- Before the explosion at 21 ---------
"Platts on in two. Everyone! Adam!" Kim yells
"Antonio, come on" Kim said
"We're not staying, I'm gonna do paper work at home" Antonio said looking up from his desk for a split second
"Hey, Eva. What's up, kid" Adam said as he walked out of the hallway
"My father's a fascist" she replied
"Okay, I don't know what to do with that" Adam says surprised
"Okay, everybody be quiet" Kim said "Platt's on TV.
"Betty's sitting down to discuss the new friendly face of the Chicago PD" the producer said
"What friendly face is that" Jay joked
"Betty" the producer said
"Thank you Shri, I'm so exited to be here today with Sergeant Trudy Platt, from the 21st District" Betty said
"She couldn't possibly hate this more" Adam joked
'It's my pleasure, I'm hap-I'm happy to be here." Trudy said with a big fake smile
"I wonder what Y/N's doing and if she's laughing as hard ass we are" Erin chimed in
"Is everything okay?" Trudy asked as they all heard a beeping
"I think that's coming from my office" Sheri said before an explosion went off
"What the hell happened" Kim said as they all grabbed their coats and things before making their way to the News Station with their boss who was pissed more than ever
--------- Back at the New station Y/N's POV ---------
"Sheri, Sheri hey stay with me" Trudy said
"All the exits are blocked we're stuck" I said coughing slightly
Trudy looked up scared then looked around the room
"Okay we are going to go into the back room and wait for help, and everything will be okay, because we are getting out of here" Trudy said while  dragging Sheri's barely conscious body into the back dressing room
As Trudy and I made it into the dressing room I noticed a sink and check if the water was running, which it was, I grabbed 3 rags and soaked them in water then handed Trudy two of the
"Sheri, are you still with me? Sheri, come on girl stay with me, Stay with me Sheri" Trudy said while trying to get Sheri to keep her eyes open
I sat on the floor next to Trudy slightly panicking when heard people walking and yelling
"Fire department. Call Out" I looked to Trudy and started to yell
"Here, we're in here" I yelled as many time as i could before i started coughing again
The door swung open and revealing Mouch, Kelly, and Matt
"Okay lets get you ladies out of here" Kelly said while picking Sheri up while Mouch help Trudy and Casey helped me
"Are you okay are you hurt" He said going into protective friend mode.
"I'm okay" I said while coughing, matt picked me up bridal style and carried me out the building
"Hank" I said when I seen my boyfriend who looked more pissed than ever, once he heard me he rushed to Casey who was helping me stand
"OH thank god" Hank said relived to see me
"You're going to med" Hank said with Matt agreeing
"We don't need any more surprises today" Matt said
"Hank you take her, ill try and meet you both later I got to go" Matt said to his two closest friends as he turned to go back into the building with his squad
--------- Third person POV ---------
Hank rode in the back of the ambulance with Y/N to the hospital, holding her hand the whole time
At the hospital Y/N was put into a trauma room and checked over thoroughly as she was close to the blast
"Okay you seem to have no major injury's, I am going to do some blood work, and put you on some oxygen for a few hours to get your levels back to normal, but other than that you seem fine and should be able to go home by tonight" Dr. Halstead said
"Thank you" Y/N replied before Will left
"You should go back to work, ill be okay" Y/N said to hank as she laid her head back onto the pillow and looked up at Hank
"No I should be here with you" He protested shaking his head
"I'll be okay I will call you if I need anything you should be out there helping your team" Y/N said
"Fine but i will be back to check up on you soon" Hank said
"Okay" Y/N said with a small smile, Hank pressed his lips to hers and left, soon after Will came back into the room
"Okay your blood work is back" Will stated "You both look good, try and keep it easy for the next few days, no heavy lifting for at least a week" He said
"Wait both" Y/N said
"Oh, you didn't know. Congratulations, Y/N your pregnant" He said with a smile "I'll have Nat come in for an ultrasound to see how far along you are" he stated before being called out for another trauma
Matt walked into the room still in his turnouts
"Hey peach, how are ya?" He asked with a smile
"I'm okay" Y/N said with a small smile
"I have a request though" Y/N said with a big smile looking at him
"what?" He said looking at me suspiciously
"Chick-Fil- A" Y/N said with puppy dog eyes
"Your lucky I like you, ill see what I can do" He said before kissing my head and leaving
Nat came in a little while after and we did the ultra sound and Y/n is 5 weeks pregnant, soon after Nat left both Hank and Matt walked in
"Hey baby" Hank said as he kissed my head
"I came with your food but I cant stay long" Matt said holding up the fast food bag
"Yay thank you" Y/N said happily, they all sat for a while and talk, later on Matt left and not long after Y/N was discharged she and Hank made their way home
Y/N sat on the couch and put her feet in  Hanks lap letting him rub her feet
"Hey, We need to talk" Y/N said moving her feet from Hanks lap and moving closer to sit next to him
"What wrong, Hun" Hank asked worriedly
--------- Y/N's POV ---------
"So I got some news after you left the hospital earlier" I stated looking at Hank " and it's good news depending on how you take it and if you don't take it good then I don't know what I'm going to do be-" I said rambling only being cut off by Hank
"Hey, hey, hey take a breath and try to calm down alright" Hank said while pulling me into his lap, taking a few deep breaths I was able to calm down
"I'm pregnant" I said looking into his eye's
"A-Are you sure" He asked looking at me with hope, I nodded and he pulled me close to his body
We stayed like that for a while and I could feel my self falling asleep in the warmth of Hanks arms
I felt Hank lift me and carry me to our bedroom he laid me down and got in bed next to me, that night Hank's  arms felt tighter around my waist and I could feel his hand resting against my still flat stomach
The next morning Matt had come over for brunch and we told him he was over the moon to become an uncle just as Hank and I are over the moon to become parents
--------- Authors Note --------- Aaahhh I finally finished this story and I am proud because I have worked so hard on this request over the past week! If you find any typo's please let me know I did my best to fix them as I went!!
Thank you for reading have a god day/ night love ya byeeeeee

a/n: second to last part? idk. maybe I’ll write an epilogue to smooth everything over.
The sight of police cars swarming the outside of the office building sets you off. It couldn't be good, it could never be good in Gotham. You had called in late to finally get a new phone, which you were busy picking up. That was so abysmal at this point.
You basically jumped out of your ride share and the cold air hit you. You ran right up to the front entrance and saw the yellow tape. That sinking feeling began to set in. Something bad happened. Someone bad came here.
The officer keeping a crowd back is the first one you spot. You go up to her and show her your ID badge.
“I work here- can you tell me what happened?” you ask.
She shakes her head, “I can’t give out the details right now but you can come to the station later on.”
“Later on? Is anyone hurt? Can you at least give me that?”
She looks around at the people behind you before beckoning you closer. You inch over to her.
“As of right now eleven are dead, about a dozen injured.” she says.
You thank her and move towards the back of the growing crowd. Your hand goes into your jacket pocket and you hit speed dial number 2. It rings and rings in your ear but no answer. You try Fallon again.
Some part of you is screaming inside. Eleven dead. Eleven chances that it could be Fallon. Or twelve chances they are injured.
As you hold the phone up to your ear and you hear the ringing in your ear you hear the crowd become more antsy. You turn around to see the reason why and there they are. Fallon walking out with an office, one of the standard gray blankets wrapped around them.
You end the call and ran over to where they are. The officer looks as if they want to block you but Fallon meets you halfway. They don’t extend their arms around you, but you do around them. You can feel them shivering and you know it’s not just the cold.
“Fallon, you’re alright. You’re okay. You’re gonna be okay.” you say.
They start crying in your arms and you hold them tighter. A few moments pass when you hear them mumble something into your shoulder. You have to pull them back from you.
“It was horrible, they just came in and started stabbing people with fancy blades. I had to use Daniel’s body as a shield- my brother told me to do that in case of emergencies. He did that during that bloody bank robbery a few summers ago and-”
You push their head back into your shoulder and they begin sobbing again. And if it we’re for the info they just relayed to you, you would have gotten emotional too. Fancy blades? A lot of people probably have katanas and such in Gotham. But how many of them would target your office?
This was him. This was punishment.
You reach back into your pocket and pull away from Fallon.
“Use my phone to call your brother. Tell him you’re safe.” you say.
Fallon nods and takes your phone. You watch as they enter the information into your phone and start the call. On the other hand, your eyes are glazing over the crowd to make sure that none of the league’s lackies are hanging around.
It seemed like your past life was done being past tense. It’s not like you thought you could burry it. You knew things like this didn’t stay buried. But you had no idea that it was go about like this.
If Ra's knows that you and Damian share a father, Bruce is in trouble. Severe trouble.
Fallon hands you your phone back.
“He’s a few blocks away, gonna come with me while I go to the station. Nice phone by the way.” they say.
“I can go with you.”
“No, you need to stay here and handle your boss duties or whatever.”
“Yeah you’re right. Okay.”
“I added my number in there, so call me when you’re done. Be safe.”
Fallon then walks away from you, back to the officer they left behind. They no doubt had to give up their clothes for evidence. It had blood all over the front. Probably Daniel’s.
You spotted the clothing store across the street and it seemed to be open. You waited until it was safe to cross before jogging over to the shop. One of the workers met you at the door.
“Hi I need to buy a warm outfit for my friend, she’s gonna need a change of clothes.”
“Of course.”
The man lets you in and you run over to the first warm thing you see. A knitted black sweater, in Fallon’s size. Then you grab onto what felt like very soft sweatpants in a large. The man was waiting for you at the register.
The amount wasn’t your focus you simply swiped your card and it went through. Instead of taking the back out to Fallon, you kept it with the worker. You told him that Fallon’s brother would drop by and pick it up.
You left the store as you searched in your bag for the business card. It took a bit but you did find it. When you did you took out your phone as well and put in his number.
Your finger hit dial and it only took one ring for him to pick up.
“Are you okay? I’m watching the news right now.” he asks.
“I’m fine I wasn’t in the office yet. Are you available to meet?”
“Yeah I can come to you, or-”
You weren’t able to get another word in because someone had gotten the best of you. You heard tires screeching and suddenly two black SUVs were in front of you. Before you had a chance to run you felt an electricity shoot through your back.
It became too much and you felt your body grow weak, and your eyes slowly started to close.
The last thing you saw was a face from your past.
Nyssa.
-
Bruce went into his other mode fairly quickly. He had heard you speaking, what seemed liked cars coming to a screeching halt. And then he heard your phone thud. The call disconnected after that.
He alerted the others to come to the cave. Bruce knew something was happening but he didn’t know exactly what. He knew he was missing some details.
One things certain, Damian’s undercover mission to Gotham academy ended with a fire. Now there’s been a murder spree at your job. It seems like his children are being targeted. Who was next?
He got down to the cave with speed. Already waiting for him was Damian and Tim. The two watched Bruce bypass them and move toward the computers.
“I need cctv of of Gotham Square, around the Wordsworth building.” he said.
Tim jumped into action and was able to pull it up within mere seconds. Damian watched from behind the two of them.
“What’s this about father?”
“It’s about what happened at Gotham academy and now at the Wordsworth building. Someone’s on the attack.” he answered.
Damian wanted to dig for more, “what do those things have to do with one another?”
“Damian I need you to get in contact with Dick and Jason with their ETAs.” Bruce dodged the question.
He didn’t really need confirmation at this point. If his father dodged the question then the answer he’s thinking must be true. Someone got to you. Not someone, his grandfather. So he moved quickly to get to the comms.
Jason called in with a 15 minute ETA. Richard about the same. Damian knew that Jason would get here first though he was reckless with his bike.
-
Dick got out of his car and ran up the steps to meet the rest of the family.
“I’m here what’s the situation?”
“A kidnapping.”
“Woah- who is it?” Dick asked.
Bruce gave him a look before answering. “My long lost child.”
It was at that moment everyone looked, in some shape or form, at Damian. His face hadn’t changed one bit.
“The writer who interviewed us right?” Jason asked.
Bruce nodded.
“Alright do we have any idea who was behind it?” Dick asked.
Tim raised his hand and led the group over to the monitors. They all gathered around to watch you on the screen. You were on the phone- Bruce had told them it was him- and then the cars came. Before you could even fight off your attacked, you were tasered with a stick.
They watched you drop your phone and go down on the sidewalk.
“Look who shows up.” Tim said. Then on cue, Nyssa al Ghul comes onto the screen. She picks up your phone and ends the call. Her henchmen lift you up and carry you into one of the SVUs. It’s all effortless after that. The cars drive off onto the main road and take that all the way until there's a blindspot. Like they knew it would be there.
The cars aren’t seen after that.
“What does the league want with your child Bruce?” Jason asked.
“Leverage? A trade-off? It’s not clear yet.”
“I’ve got cctv footage from the Gotham Academy fire.” Tim said.
Damian watched in real time as the video started playing. And down in the bottom left corner, there he was with you. You shielded him that day. Tim changes the angles and finds another feed and it gets a closer look at the both of you.
Bruce faces Damian, “Do you wanna explain this to us?”

It was a slow day at the call center, which was a good thing, and you couldn’t help but wonder what Steve was planning. Earlier, he texted you, asking if you wanted to get lunch together, and you accepted. It’s been a couple of weeks since you hung out and had a movie night, but since then, you’ve hung out a few other times at your house watching movies and talking. It was innocent fun, nothing serious, two friends enjoying each other’s company. But, you did fall asleep on him one night after a late shift, but luckily, he didn’t seem to mind. Neither of you labeled them as dates because neither of you were looking for a relationship. You both joked about them being dates though, but they never blossomed into anything, even though one night you hoped they would.
Your phone line ringing pulled you from your daydream. “911, what’s your emergency?”
“Um...my daddy can hardly breathe?”
“Okay, hold on for a second, sweetie.” The address popped right up since she was calling from a landline and you dispatched an ambulance to their location. It was much easier to send help when they called from landlines; cell phones were tricky because you needed to go through the carrier if you needed to get their exact location. “The ambulance is on their way.”
“Good...they need to get here real fast,” the little girl said in a calm voice.
“Okay, sweetie, what’s your name?
“Duranna Dey. My daddy’s name is Rhomann Dey.”
“Okay. How old are you, Duranna?
“I am five years old.”
“Okay, Duranna, I need to know if your father is still awake?”
“Yeah. He called 911-- then couldn’t really talk--he gave me the phone then.”
“Your dad is a smart man. Duranna, is your front door unlocked?”
“Uh…is our front door unlocked, Daddy? Uh, no.”
“Okay, Duranna, can you go and unlock the front door for me?”
“Sure…okay, I am going to go. Don’t worry, Daddy!” You heard shuffling over the line. “Front door  unlocked.”
“That’s good, Duranna. Now can you go ask your dad if this has ever happened to him before?”
“Yeah,” she said as you heard shuffling through the phone. “Dad, has this ever happened before? He says no, and he is still awake.”
“Good. Can you ask him if he has any kind of chest pain?”
“Do you have chest pain? Yes, yes, he does.”
“Okay, hold on for a second, okay, Duranna.”
“Okay,” she replied.
You radioed the paramedics over your headset and told them the situation so they would know what they were walking into upon their arrival.
“I’m back, Duranna. Is he still awake?”
“Yeah, we’re in our jammies. Is that going to be okay, or should we get changed?”
“No, that will be fine,” you smiled at her question. “I need you to stay with your dad to make sure he stays awake.”
“Okay. I got it. Stay calm, Dad.” You could hear sirens coming over the line. “They are here now; should I hang up?”
“Yes, Duranna, you can hang up.”
“Okay, thank you, bye.”
The line went dead, and you couldn’t help but smile. Duranna was one strong, calm, brave little girl in her given situation, where some adults wouldn’t be. It was surprising, and you couldn’t help but praise her parents. You sighed, taking off your headset and setting it on the table as you went on your lunch break.
When you walked out of your building, you saw Steve standing outside holding onto a leash with a beautiful golden retriever attached to it. You smiled, walking right up to them and crouched down to pet him.
“Awww, you must be Cosmo,” you cooed, scrunching up his face in your hands, and quickly licked your cheek. “You’re so cute, yes you are.”
“He wanted to meet you. Wouldn’t shut up about it all morning,” Steve grinned under his baseball cap.
“Well, it is lovely to meet you, too,” You added, bopping him on the nose. You stood up, smiling at Steve. “What are we doing for lunch?”
“Since I brought Cosmo, I thought we could take a stroll through the park. I know there are a few food trucks in the area we could check out.”
“Sounds fun,” you smirked, walking next to Steve with Cosmo out in front. “How has Cosmo been adjusting?”
“He’s doing better. He’s a little off at certain times during the day, but the vet says it’s pretty normal, and it’s all a part of the process.”
“Well, he looks happy.” You let out a soft chuckle, watching Cosmo look around with his tongue hanging out. “And he is so cute.”
“Thanks for the compliment. You know dogs do take after their owners,” he winked, forcing you to roll your eyes.
“Okay, wise guy,” you scoffed, nudging him in his side. “How’s Station 107?”
Steve cleared his throat. “Your brother gave me permission to ask you out a while ago, and he keeps reminding me about it.”
You chuckled. “Did he? Clearly, he doesn’t know how much of a guy you are.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You come off all innocent, but let’s be real, you’re a real troublemaker.”
“I will neither confirm nor deny that information,” he chuckled, waving it off as you shake your head at him.
“It’s crazy how he gave you permission, yet you haven’t done anything about it?” You questioned, narrowing your eyes at him. “And here's Cosmo, who by the way I just met, and he has already gotten further with me than you have.”
“That hurts.” Steve feigned a pained look, holding his hand over his heart. “In my defense, I didn’t want you to feel pressured or pushed into something you weren’t ready for.”
“You never did, and that’s what makes you a good man, Steve,” you confessed, seeing his signature smirk spread across his face.  “But, my life is enough of a mess as it is, and I wouldn’t expect you or anyone else to try and take that on.”
“That’s not it at all. I’m not worried about what happened in your past. I mean, I hate what you had to go through, but it’s never going to scare me off.”
You had no words. No comeback. All you could do was smile. You reached over and grabbed a hold of his hand. “Friends, hold hands, right?”
“Yeah, last time I checked,” he grinned, squeezing your hand. You felt your face heat up under his gaze as you looked away. You tried to weld your lips together, but it was no use. You had a feeling a smile would be plastered on your face all through lunch.
You and Steve settle on getting Mexican at Wade’s Chimichangas truck when you noticed the other truck was an ice cream truck. You stood in line and noticed the guy taking orders was very chatty and looked oddly similar to Ryan Reynolds.
“Next, oh, and what a cute couple you two are,” the Ryan Reynolds look-alike said. “I’m Wade, owner of Wade’s Chimichangas. Oh, and this sugar bear with the mustache behind me is Peter W. He saw my want ad in the paper, and he was an instant hire.” He smiled, but then it quickly turned into a frown. “This is actually the second time I hired him, the first time is when I hired him to be a part of X-force, and he died early on. Then, I time-traveled back in time after stealing this special watch from your universe's Thanos and brought Peter back to life at the end. Oops, spoiler alert,” he shrugged, staring at the empty space beside you.
“I’m sorry,” Steve asked, furrowing his eyebrows as he tried to gauge the situation.
“Sorry,” he smiled. “This--” he twirled his finger in the air “--this is the wrong universe. Well, that universe technically doesn’t exist anymore since Mickey Mouse bought out Fox, and I’m not talking about the cute fox from Fox and the Hound either. No siree, this Fox was more expensive than my favorite shoe company’s net worth.” He shook his head back and forth, chuckling. “It’s going to be crazy fun! My place is safe and secure, but can’t say the same for that Australian Showman.” He nodded but stopped when a realization dawned on him. “Oh wait, dammit, he got out a few years too early. What a shame, he’s gonna miss out on some really big paychecks, but who cares about that guy anyway,” he signed. “Anyways, what can I get you two?”
“I’ll take the Almost Famous Chimichanga with rice,” Steve ordered.
“Oh, being safe and not going with beans, smart move, Captain,” Wade replied with a wink. “And for the lady and canine?” You gave Wade your order and ordered Cosmo a simple taco.
“Cosmo doesn’t need a taco,” Steve added, shaking his head.
“So, no taco for the canine? I am taking copious notes here.” You looked to Wade to see him licking his lips with a pen and small notebook pad in his hand.
“Yes, taco,” you answered, and Cosmo barked.
“Majority wins. Fire up the stove, Peter. It will be a couple of minutes, folks,” Wade announced. “If only there was a superpower to make food. I mean, he or she, I’m not sexist, could solve world hunger with just a flick of their wrist or magic wand.”
“Wow, that guy must be going through something,” Steve uttered loud enough for you to hear as you both moved down the side of the truck to the pickup area.
“Captain, you have no idea,” Wade looked over his shoulder and shot you both a tight smile. “Am I right, Peter?”
“He is,” Peter nodded, placing an order on the serving counter. “Order for the lovely couple and a taco for the gorgeous golden retriever.
“Thanks, Peter.” You pulled your wallet from your purse, but when you looked up, Steve was already handing Peter some cash.
“My treat,” he replied, answering your silent question.
“Next time, it’s on me.”
“Deal,” Steve smirked, getting his change back from Peter.
“Is he a Purebred?” Peter asked, looking down at Cosmo with a smile.
“I’m not sure I rescued him.”
“That’s incredible. My wife, Susan, and I thought about adopting, but she’s been training hard with her personal trainer, Gus, a few times a week, so we weren’t sure if we were ready for a dog. I mean, some of the workouts can last like four hours, but it is doing wonders for her, and it shows.”
“Well, when you both feel ready, give adoption a chance.”
“I will. I’m sorry to keep you from your date with all the questions.”
“Hey, it’s alright,” Steve waved it off. “That’s how you keep customers coming back, right?”
“That’s right,” Peter chuckled. “Thanks for choosing Wade’s Chimichangas. Have a good afternoon, folks.”
You grabbed your’s and Cosmo’s baskets, and Steve grabbed his, making your way over to the open benches near the sidewalk. You plopped down with Steve taking the spot next to you, and Cosmo sat right in front of you, wagging his tail and waiting for his taco.  You smirked at him, tearing off a piece and giving it to him.
“Are you getting the feeling that Susan is cheating on Peter, too?” Steve asked, taking a bite of his chimichanga.
“Yes, I thought I was the only one thinking that,” you answered, shaking your head. “Poor guy, he seems like a good one, too.”
A comfortable silence fell between you two as you ate. It was tasty, better than you expected it would be; you weren’t sure if it was the seasoning or sauce, but you would be a returning customer. Cosmo whined, staring into your eyes as you tore off another piece and gave it to him.
Steve smirked. “You’re gonna teach him to be a beggar.”
“Don’t listen to your dad. If you want to be a beggar, you be a beggar.” You patted him on the head, and he licked your hand.
“Wow,” Steve mouthed, making you hit him on the arm. He cracked a contagious smile, leaning into you, and you couldn’t help but laugh as you pushed him off you.
“You’re such as ass sometimes.”
“I am one of LA’s finest asses according to Sam,” he replied, forcing you to scoff.
_______
Taking the last bite of your lunch, you glanced at Steve, finishing off his chimichanga. He wiped his lips with his napkin and winked at you. You rolled your eyes, leaning forward and rubbing Cosmo on the head. You didn’t want to go back to work. All you wanted to do was hang out with Steve and Cosmo for the rest of the day. You sighed, looking down at your watch.
“Should we start heading back?” Steve inquired, placing a hand on your forearm. You looked at his hand, a shy smile appearing on your face.
“Uh yeah, we probably should.”
He stood up, offering his hand, which you took without hesitation. He squeezed your hand, intertwining his fingers with yours, sending a warm, comforting sensation flow through your body.  You could feel your face grow warm as you stared at Cosmo walking in front of you. You bit your lip, peeking over at Steve, not missing the smirk you were beginning to love appear across his lips.
________
He pulled you to stop in front of your building, letting go of your hand, and you turned to face him. “Thanks for getting lunch with me and for bringing Cosmo. It was nice to meet him.” You smiled down at the dog, wagging his tail with his tongue hanging out.
“I think he enjoyed meeting you, too,” He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. “Listen, I don’t know if you’ve heard about this yet, but there is this first responders charity grill out slash softball tournament this weekend. I was wondering if...”
“Yeah,” you interrupted him. “Thor already invited me, and I was planning on going.”
“Cool.” He nodded, clenching his jaw. “But, I was curious if you wanted to be my date?”
You rubbed your lips together, a smile itching its way across your lips.  “Did you finally have the nerve to ask me out?” You nudged him with your elbow repeatedly until he cracked a smile.
“Like I said, I didn’t want to pressure you into anything.” He sighed, shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans.
“No, it’s not that. I’m just surprised you’re already planning a second date, and we aren’t even done with the first one yet.”
His jaw dropped open as quickly as he snapped it shut. If you weren’t watching him, you would have missed it. “I never said this was a date.”
“Yeah, but Cosmo told me it was, so who do you think I’m gonna believe. The guy I have been hanging out with or a dog willing to share all your secrets with me.”  You shrugged with both hands in front of you, trying to weigh out your best option.
“Cosmo,” Steve looked down at his dog, shaking his head. “You can’t be telling YN all my secrets.”
“He’s a talker. Aren’t you Cosmo?” You cooed, making him bark in agreement. You smiled, reaching out to scratch his head one last time. You peeked up at Steve, not missing the gentle smile fading from his lips.
“How about it, YN? Do you want to go out on another date with me?”
“Yeah,” you grinned, nodding your head. “I’d like that.”

AN: Thanks for reading Part 11! We are over halfway through this story and there is so much more to come! And I am excited to share it with you all! The call about the daughter and father actually was something that happened and became national news a long time ago. I came across it while I was trying to find some 911 type calls/scenarios, and figured Rhomann and Duranna Dey would be a good fit for it. And she finally got to meet Cosmo! He is actually the dog from Guardians of the Galaxy! It is just a small cameo in that movie, but I love throwing in those easter eggs if you haven’t figured that out yet, haha! Did you like the Wade Wilson and Peter W cameo?! I thought it would be an entertaining addition and Wade breaking that fourth wall is always a fun time! The slow burn may finally be coming to an end. Let's just hope this charity softball tournament/grill-out date turns into a success! As always, thanks for reading, and don't forget comments are always welcome!

You were starfished across your bed in nothing but your knickers when the knock sounded at your door. Rather than answer, you ignored it. It would be far too great an effort to get up, throw something on and answer the door. There was a few minutes pause and the knock came again.
“I’m not here,” you mumbled, not loud enough for anyone to hear, but loud enough that you felt justified not answering the door.
XxX
The mission had been exhausting. It was supposed to be a simple in-and-out, little bit of reconnaissance at Hammer Industries, maybe a teensy bit of industrial espionage to ensure the drone project that Ivan Vanko had started had truly been ended.
Turns out the droids were now the building security, and the Avengers had to be called in to extract you after your capture. Hammer had used some sort of truth serum on you to try to get information out of you. You’d fought it as much as you could, trying to keep your answers glib and indirect as you could.
Right up until Natasha crashed through a window and you exploded into giggles.
“Not so tough now, are we, Justin?” You mocked him as he flinched away from the Black Widow. You were totally distracted by their exchange, watching in fascination until you felt hands working the bindings behind your back. Your head jerked around but you couldn’t see who was there. You struggled, thinking it was another flunky of Hammer’s until a smooth voice whispered in your ear.
“Settle the fuck down.” Your eyes widened and you stopped moving. “Thank you.”
When your hands came free, you pulled them in front of you, rubbing at your wrists before bending over to work the knots at your ankles free. You hazarded a glance back to where Natasha was beating the crap out of one of Hammer’s drones, twisting at the radio sensor head until it snapped off.
“Stop gawking, come on!” A hand on your arm pulled you toward the exit and you finally turned to see your would-be liberator. Hawkeye. Clint Barton. You felt your face warm in embarrassment. Natasha knew from your mutual years at SHIELD that you’d been harbouring a crush on him. Why she would have brought him along when she could have brought any of the other Avengers was beyond you. She should have brought Tony - you were on the Stark Industries payroll, after all.
He dragged you toward the window Natasha had smashed through and pulled an arrow. He loosed it toward the next building over, the arrow lodging in the roof. With a few quick movements, he’d attached some sort of line to the top of the window jamb and snapped his bow over the line between the buildings.
“Come on,” he gestured toward the window sill as he stepped into it. You looked at him blankly, fear flooding through you. You did not do heights well.
“Are you kidding?” You gasped. “I can’t just hop on like I’m on a vacation zip line tour and -“
“Come here,” he interrupted, holding his hand out to you. He pulled you gently onto the ledge, and pulled you into his side. “Me Tarzan, you Jane. You need to hold onto me though, so I can hold on to my bow.”
You wrapped your arms around his neck and took a deep breath. His eyes met yours in amusement and he smirked a little. “Don’t puke on me.”
“Right. Uh, no promises.” You held a little tighter and screwed your eyes shut. The feeling of nothing under your feet took your breath away and you couldn’t even scream. Your wrapped your legs around him without hesitation, and heard him let out a little grunt as they locked around him.
As you came through the window, he let go of his bow and wrapped one of his beefy arms around you, rolling you so that he landed on the floor and you landed on him. You skidded to a stop that made you think he would wind up with carpet burn on his back. After what felt like forever, his grip on you loosened. It had probably only been a few seconds, given how your heart was still racing. Drawing in a full breath and holding it for a few seconds, you tried to convince yourself to let go of him, and failed.
“At some point, honey, you’re gonna have to let go.” His voice rumbled against the ear you had pressed to his chest. “And sooner than later because we still aren’t safe.”
Your eyes snapped open and you looked up at him, suddenly realizing the intimate way you were holding him. You pushed free and rolled away onto the floor, gasping for breath.
“I’m so sorry,” you exclaimed, pushing yourself to your feet. He popped up beside you and shrugged.
“Gotta say, it feels a lot nicer when you climb on me than when Lucky does,” he replied. To your confused look he offered, “He’s my dog.”
You laughed despite yourself. “Well, thanks?”
“You probably don’t steal the last piece of pizza either,” he pondered. You laughed again.
“I might.”
He almost look wounded and then looked out the window to the building you’d leapt from. He grabbed your hand and led you away toward the staircase. You had to be at least fifteen stories up, and while you’d rather go down than up, you still weren’t excited by the prospect. As he started leading you down the stairs, you found your motivation to keep up in his very nice backside.
You made it to the street and he gestured to a beat up, old Dodge Challenger. You got in the passenger seat and gestured to the back.
“Want me to climb back?”
“That’s awfully forward. We aren’t even on a date,” he replied, his eyes wide.
“I meant so Nat has somewhere to sit,” you groaned. He flushed.
“Right. No, she’ll find her own way back. I was strictly along for the rescue and run part of the mission,” he answered, awkwardly. “Not that I wouldn’t climb back there with you. You know, if you wanted. Maybe not here though.”
“Uh, thanks?” It was your turn to feel awkward. “Where to then?”
“You’re way more forward than I thought,” he exclaimed. “I mean, any park that’s dimly lit, I guess?”
“No, I mean where are we headed as part of our escape plan.” You couldn’t help but laugh at the confusion. If it was possible, he blushed even more.
“Buckle up. We’re going to be driving for a bit,” he said. “Hungry? I could use a burger.”
“I could eat,” you agreed. You lapsed into silence as he drove out of the city and headed upstate. Finally, he pulled into a gas station and looked at you.
“Wait here. You’re a black coffee right?”
“Yeah, how’d you -“
“I can tell,” he interrupted as he stepped out of the car. As he stepped in to the gas station, his phone vibrated and a message popped up on the screen. You couldn’t help but see it in the dark of the car’s interior.
“Just mopping up here. Have a good night, Romeo. You owe me.”
Your mind spun a little at the message. It was from Natasha. Why was she calling him Romeo?
He flopped back into the car and handed you a coffee and a brownie. The adrenaline rush had left and you were starting to feel hungry and the first bite of brownie melted against your tongue. You let out a soft moan and sigh. You washed it down with a swallow of coffee and made another happy noise.
“Oh coffee,” you sighed. “I love you.”
Clint was watching you with a dumbstruck smile. His phone buzzed again and he snatched it up, checking the message. He snorted and dropped the phone back on the dashboard.
“Where to now, boss?” You asked.
“Just a little further and then east,” he replied.
“East? And Juliet is the sun?” You tried, cautious.
“Aww, Nat,” he groaned, hitting his head on the dashboard. “Did she tell you? She told you. I can’t believe she told you.”
Your brain moved rapid fire. You glanced at him and his vulnerability caught you. He looked sad and worried and he was looking at you like you were the most important thing in his universe. “Me?” You gaped. “I’m not Juliet. I can’t be.”
He turned and faced you. “Nat has been on my case to make a move for, well, since Budapest.”
You gaped. “Budapest was a disaster, I was no help at all and -“ Clint interrupted you with a soft kiss, puking back quickly. “Oh.”
“Budapest was a disaster. But I met you,” he said, lifting his hand to cup your cheek. “I want to -“
“You talk too much, Clint,” you interrupted. “Kiss me again.”
XxX
“I have coffee. And pizza,” a low voice replied.
“Fine. Come in, but you’d better be alone,” you called to the door.
Clint walked in, in your fuzzy pink bathrobe, carrying a pizza box with two travel mugs of coffee balanced on it.
“Honey, if you don’t put something else on, you’re going to be too busy to eat pizza,” he threatened.
You gave him a coy smile. “Oh?”

She got up at her usual time of 5am to be at the hospital by 6:30am.
Not much of a coffee drinker, she just got her a mug filling up with soda, the soda being her caffeine for the day.
She got into her scrubs, grabbing her nametag, pens and her personal notepad.
Ready to hit the road before traffic begins to pick up on the freeway in Los Angeles, she grabs her wallet, phone and keys she locks up to leave for her day at work as a Registered Nurse at Rampart emergency hospital.
Just as she got to the street to her car, there was a loud noise growing louder. She looked in the direction of the noise to see a plane, crash landing into her own apartment complex.
Ducking beside her car at the impact of the plane she was also thankful for her timing.
Quickly she dials 9-1-1.
Dean got up at his usual time of 4 in the morning to begin his 24-hour shift at the station.
Dean is a paramedic and squad member at station 51.
He pulled his truck into the parking lot, still trying to wake up.
His partner was already there.
“Cas, do you ever sleep man?” Dean asked.
“Slept on the couch again.”
“Are you and Hannah okay?”
“No, we had a big fight again last night. I don’t know what I can do for her anymore.” Cas says, defeated.
“Just end things man, you need sleep, and you need some peace of mind. I got room at my house for a roommate if you need a place.”
“Thanks Dean, but I already had plans of ending things with Hannah, last night was just the nail in the coffin of yet another failed relationship.”
“She failed it man, you did nothing wrong.” Dean encouraged.
“Thanks man.”
Dean offered a kind smile and a pat on Cas’s shoulder.
“Ready for another long shift?” Cas asks.
“As ready as I’ll ever be, my dad here yet?”
“Yeah, he’s in the office why?”
“Wonder if he got the invite to Sam and Jess’s wedding.”
“Bought damn time that kid popped the question honestly.”
“I know, he and Jess dated for what seemed like forever.”
“You really think they’re still sore at each other, I mean John of all people should know he can’t control what his kids want to do.”
“Yeah, I don’t know, that’s why I was gonna ask if he got it.”
Cas nods.
“I saw you put in for a three-day weekend, what’s going on?”
“Just wanting to take a trip out to the campgrounds outside of town to the family cabin, Dad says the deck could use some work and I was gonna kill two birds with one stone. Camp out and help dad fix up the deck.”
“That sounds cool.”
The fire stations alarm sounded.
“Truck 27, squad 27, engine 47, squad 47, Engine 51, squad 51, structure fire at Purgatory Apartments 1366 south Millard Ave.”
“Lots of trucks and engines responding, must be big.” Cas states. Jumping into action.
“Must be.” Dean says running to the squad truck, jumping into the driver seat, Cas jumping into the passenger.
Dean turned the keys in the ignition, roaring the Ford Truck to life, and turning on the lights and siren. Heading out onto the road, with the firetruck, Engine 51 following behind.
“This is RN Y/N Y/L/N, I have multiple victims at 1366 Millard Ave. A plane crashed. 3 already DOA, I need help right away.” She says into the phone.
“We’re working on it; we already have multiple firestations responding to your location. Just keep aiding in the victims as best as you can Ms. Y/L/N.” dispatch for 9-1-1 says.
She continued chest compressions on a victim and did 2 rescue breaths. And checked his pulse, still no change.
She sat her phone off of her shoulder and on the ground, so she could focus on reviving the victim.
One more attempt at cpr, she checks his pulse, still no change. Placing his hands over his chest, she says a silent prayer.
“I’m sorry.” She tells the people watching over her as she worked.
“Where is your help?” a lady asked furiously.
“They’re on the way, LA Is a large ass city, and you know how traffic is in this town.” She says.
She was already frustrated with the losses she didn’t need an attitude from anyone.
The sound of wailing sirens in the distance brought relieve to the nurse as she worked tirelessly on the victims.
Engine and squad 27 and 47 being the first on the scene.
“There are people trapped in the buildings, and there were about 45 passengers on this flight. 4 are DOA so far.” Y/N stated to the captain of the two fire stations as they approached her.
“Alright, I’ll send my guys in.” Captain of station 27 stated.
“I’ll let the other stations as they come in to assist.” Captain of station 47 stated.
Another fire engine’s siren wailed as it approached.
The men jumping into action.
“Winchester!” the captain of station 47 shouts as he approached engine 51.
“What do we got?”
“Unknown number of victims trapped in the complex, 45 passengers or so from the plane. 4 of them were DOA. Oh, and she’s a nurse, thought I’d mention that she could help us out.”
“Right,” John Winchester, captain of station 51 agreed.
“Alright guys, we got to work fast, there are people trapped in these two buildings, we need to clear them out. Tran, get the engine ready so we can use the hose. Gabe, and Michael, work on the fire with the other stations, Benny, Raph, and Charlie, aide the paramedics, either from 27, 47 or Dean and Cas, we need to save as many as we can, alright?”
“Yes sir.”
“Get to it.”
Everyone went to where they were instructed to. Dean and Cas got their equipment from their truck and went into one of the buildings, full fire fighter gear.
“Dean!” John called out.
Dean stops, giving John his attention.
“Be safe in there son.”
“I will dad. Don’t worry.” He says, running in.
There were a good handful of people able to move and get to safety on their own, and another handful Dean and Cas had to carry out of the building.
One woman, sprained ankle from trying to escape hastily, as Cas carried her out she nearly flew out of the man’s arms.
“My daughter, she’s in her room!” she cries out.
“I’ll get her, Cas, get her out of here.”
Cas nods, doing as told.
Dean inspected the rooms, finding a seven-year-old girl, hiding beside her bed covered in a wet blanket.
“Hey, I’m Dean, I’m gonna get you out of here.”
The girls nods.
Dean kept a protective arm around her as they exited her room.
A beam creaked, and gave way above Dean, hitting his back.
He heard a loud pop, like a large pop can exploding.
He found it hard to breathe through his oxygen mask.
Taking off his mask and tank he saw rupture in his tank.
“Shit.” He hissed.
His lungs were quickly taken over by the smoke, he started coughing immediately.
He noticed the girl was already gone.
He tried to get up to hurry and save himself but he felt a sharp pain in the back of his leg.
He looked behind him, he saw the beam pinning him down by his leg.
Overcome by the coughing, his world began to turn black.
Y/N finished placing a splint on the womans ankle when a child ran up to her and the group of firemen.
“Jamie! Baby!” her mother cried out, holding her arms out to her daughter.
“Mommy!” she cried.
“Where’s Dean?” Cas asked.
“A beam fell down and knocked him down. He’s stuck.” She says.
Without another word exchanged Cas took off to the apartment they rescued the woman.
The fire was slowly getting under control and it was easier to see inside the apartments. Cas was able to spot Dean out in the apartment easily.
He laid on his stomach, still and unmoving. Cas can see the beam pinning against Dean’s thigh.
He saw the beam was not supporting much of anything. He ran out, seeing Michael carrying an axe.
“Mikey, I need that!” Cas shouted.
“What’s up?”
“Dean’s stuck.”
Michael ran towards Cas and he saw Dean, inspected the beam. Saw the same as Cas, the beam not being much of importance to the structure, he begins working on breaking the beam in half.
The wood was badly damaged by the fire, he was able to break it in three strong hits.
Once he was free, Cas picked Dean up and carried him out over his shoulder fireman carry style.
Once he reached the nurse, she prepared an area she could work on Dean.
“Is he breathing?”
“He didn’t have his mask on, the tank was damaged.” Cas answered.
“More than likely smoke inhalation, lay him here and I’ll start working on him.
He did as told, laying him flat on his back.
She checked his pulse, and breathing, matching up to the fireman’s statements. And began chest compressions.
After 35 chest compressions she gave 2 rescue breaths. And checked his breathing, he’s breathing but it was shallow.
She placed on an oxygen mask over his mouth.
After ten minutes or so of the mask being on him, he began having a coughing fit as the air returned back to his lungs.
“He’s gonna be okay but we need to get him to the hospital, need to check out that leg.” Y/N said.
The men and women of station 51 nodded, agreeing with the nurse.
Later that night as she made her rounds, she walked into Dean’s room.
“Good evening Mr. Winchester, how are you feeling today?”
“Sore.”
“That’s expected having a beam pin your leg down, and the smoke inhalation.”
“You saved my life, thank you, Miss….”
“Y/N, Y/N Y/L/N. And it’s no big deal, all part of the job.”
“Right, saving people.”
“The family business.”
“You’re family work here?”
“Yeah, my mom was head nurse at this very hospital, and my dad was a neurologist here. I was basically born and raised here.”
“Nice, my dad’s captain of station 51.”
“Awesome. But other than that, no pain at the moment, you don’t need anything?”
“No, just a number.”
She smirked, with a nod.
Writing on her notepad, her number. She ripped the paper out, handing it to him.
“Call me sometime, Winchester.”
He held the paper, unable to hide the wide grin.
“Definitely will.” He says as she walks out, continuing her shift.

Dean pulled on his jeans and shoved his feet into his running shoes, then grabbed his gun, clipping his badge onto his waistband before heading outside.
Jordan’s car was engulfed in flames, and the sound of one of the windows exploding from the heat made him jump. “Fucking hell,” he muttered, his eyes scanning the area for any sign of Darrel. He had to be close, watching, probably waiting for Jordan to come out. He heard sirens in the distance as he doubled back and went around behind the building.
He moved quickly to the other end of the structure, peering through the darkness for a sign of his prey, then moved across to the backyard of the houses that lined the east side of the block. He moved carefully, almost silent, from one yard to the next until he spotted Darrel watching the fire from behind a tree near the corner house. As he drew closer, he could hear the man mumbling, “Come on, Jordan, where the hell are you?”
Dean stepped up behind him, pressing the muzzle of his gun against the base of his skull. “She’s in her room, right where I told her to stay, dickbag.”
“Man, who the fuck are you?” Darrel blurted out in frustration as he raised his hands.
“Well, for one thing, I’m a cop. And the local boys are on the way, so let’s go meet ‘em.”
“All I wanted was for her to come out, so we could talk.”
Dean snorted and shoved the gun against Darrel’s head, urging him along. “Social skills are really not your strong suit, are they, Darrel?”
Dean marched his reluctant prisoner back to the motel parking lot, holding his badge high as the police cruiser pulled in, followed by the fire department. The officers got out, guns drawn, and Dean shoved the gun into the back of Darrel’s neck again. “Move.” He tossed his badge to one officer, who examined it and handed it back. “This guy is your arsonist. He also assaulted the woman who owns this car earlier today and tried to abduct her. Sorry, don’t have my cuffs on me, so if you’d do the honors...” He gave Darrel a push, filling the officers in on the details as they cuffed the prisoner. As he finished with his report, Jordan flew by him in a furious blur.
“You son of a bitch!” She shouted into Darrel’s face, then rocked back and punched him square in the face with everything she had. The man howled in pain, blood spurting from his nose, and Dean grabbed Jordan’s arm, pulling her away.
“Fuckin’ bitch broke my nose!” Darrel yelled, as an officer, struggling not to laugh, pressed a wad of tissues to his face. “I wanna press charges!”
“For what? I didn’t see anything. You guys see anything?” Dean asked, unable to smother the grin on his face.
“Nope. Didn’t see a thing,” the arresting officer answered with a wink at Jordan. They walked Darrel over to the rescue squad, letting them staunch the bleeding before shoving him into the back seat of the cruiser. With a nod in Dean’s direction, they backed out and headed for the police station.
As soon as they pulled away, Jordan bent over, groaning in pain, her hand shoved between her knees. “FUCK. Nobody ever told me how much that would hurt!”
Dean tried not to laugh as he reached for her injured hand. “Let me see.” He gave her hand a quick once-over, then put an arm around her shoulders and steered her back towards the room. “Nothing’s broken, at least. Come on, Sugar Ray. Let’s get some ice on it.”
He walked her around the fire truck and down to his room, ushering her in and seating her in a chair before heading to the bathroom for a towel and to the fridge for ice. She accepted the ice pack from him with a sheepish ‘Thank you’ and applied it, wincing. “I know, that was stupid. But damn, it felt good. For a minute, anyway.”
Dean laughed softly. “Yeah, I bet it did. He had it comin’.”
“So...” she glanced up, watching him pour more whiskey into cups for them both. “You didn’t tell me you were a cop.”
“You didn’t tell me you were an MMA fighter, either,” he joked, and she smiled, blushing.
“I’m not. I’ve never hit anybody before in my life.”
“Yeah, I get that,” he chuckled. “But you did a fan-fucking-tastic job of it.” He sat down across from her, sliding one of the drinks over her way.
She laughed softly. “Thanks.”
“Anyway, yeah – I’m a detective. Violent Crimes Division in Kansas City.”
“Oh. That sounds – dark.”
He geared back a little with a nod, a grim smirk on his lips. “Yeah. Sometimes,” he replied, downing a swallow of his whiskey. “So what do you do? Or did you do?”
“I worked for a local attorney. Small town, small office. Hated to leave him, he was a good boss, I’ve worked for him for years. But I needed to get the hell out of Dodge, you know?” She stared into her cup for a moment. “I don’t know what I’ll do now. My plan was to drive to Kansas City, find a cheap motel to live in until I found a job and a place to live. Can’t really drive anywhere now, thanks to that douchebag.”
“Law office, huh?”
“Yeah. I know, it sounds thrilling. But I ran the office, and I loved it. Just… finding something in the city is gonna be a lot different than working for someone I knew my whole life.”
They chatted for a while, until Jordan was yawning more than she was talking, the adrenaline gone and her exhaustion kicking in. Dean laughed softly, and she gave him a shy, sheepish smile. “Well, it is, what – 2:30 AM?? Are you kidding me?”
“Yeah, pretty late. Listen, why don’t you just crawl into the other bed and get some shut-eye. Tomorrow morning the local PD wants you to come in and give your statement, and then that’s hopefully the last you have to deal with Darrel.”
“God, I hope you’re right. But I don’t want to impose on your space...”
“Not imposing. I offered, and I wouldn’t offer if I didn’t want you to. You’re barely keeping your eyes open, and we’ll both be asleep as soon as we hit our pillows.”
“Ok, I won’t argue.” Jordan stood and stretched, then headed for the extra bed, pulling the bedding back and slipping between the sheets with a sigh. Dean stopped in the doorway to the bathroom, looking over his shoulder at her.
“I’m gonna grab a quick shower. See you in the morning, Xena.” He flashed a grin and went in,  laughing as a pillow flew towards him, deflected by the quickly closed door.
Jordan fell asleep still smiling.
Tumblr media
The next morning Dean was gone when she woke, squinting at the alarm clock next to the bed. It was only a little after 6 AM, but she dragged herself out of the warm cocoon of blankets and headed out the back door to her own room. After a shower and some clean clothes, she was feeling almost human, except for the nagging need for coffee. She was just figuring out the miniscule coffee maker in the kitchenette when a knock sounded at her front door. She peeked through the peephole, then smiled as she opened it to Dean, bearing two very large coffees.
“You are a saint,” she said gratefully as he handed her one of the steaming cups and set the other on the table.
“It’s been said,” he grinned, and she laughed. “I thought we’d have a primer, then head to Molly’s for some breakfast before we go down to the police station. If you want.”
“Oh, breakfast sounds amazing. I’ll bet Molly makes fantastic pancakes.”
“And bacon.” Dean’s eyes closed in pleasure at the thought. “Maybe a couple of eggs.”
“Ooooh, and hashbrowns!” She giggled, sipping at her coffee. “You’d think we didn’t stuff our faces with bacon cheeseburgers and fries last night.”
They took their time at Molly’s, eating their fill and lingering over their coffee, then drove to the police station late that morning. It took longer than Jordan had expected, but finally she was putting her signature to the documents and breathing a sigh of relief, hoping that chapter of her life was behind her at last.
Dean dropped her off at her room, and she spent the next couple of hours on the phone with her insurance company, grateful that they would pay for a tow company to haul her burned-out car to a junk yard. Buying a new vehicle would have to wait until she was back to work.
With that depressing thought, she flopped down on the bed and started sorting through the overwhelming List of Things To Do in her head. Get a rental car, find a cheap but hopefully safe hotel to stay in until she could afford an apartment, and, the biggie… FIND A JOB. In a new city, where she didn’t know her way around.
Her mind was still going in circles as she made more notes and chewed on her pencil, and her phone ringing made her jump. She saw Dean’s name and answered with a little laugh. “Hi, Dean.”
“You doing anything important right now?”
“Not really. Just trying to figure out what’s next for me. Haven’t been making much progress.”
“Well, I kinda wanted to talk to you about something. Can you come to my room? Sam’ll be showing up pretty soon, so I hate to leave.”
“Yeah, sure, I’ll be right over.”
Dean was on his phone when he opened the door, and she walked in and took a seat at the table as he finished his conversation. “Okay, Sammy – see you in a while.” He grinned at her as he pulled out the chair across from her and plopped down.
“So, Dean, what’s up? There’s not a problem with the statement at the station or anything, is there?”
“No, nope, everything’s fine as far as I know. I just wanted to run something by you.”
She leaned back in her chair and looked at him, not sure what to expect. “Okay...”
“So, you’re headed to KC, right? That’s the plan?”
“Well, yeah – it was the plan before my car got torched. Now it’s getting more complicated.”
“Not really. It’s actually pretty simple. See, Sam and I are headed back there tomorrow morning. There’s no reason why you can’t just ride down with us.”
Jordan’s eyes widened. “Are you serious?”
“Yeah. Why not? We live there, anyway, we’re all headed to the same place. If you want. I’m not trying to push you or anything, but – we’d be more than happy to give you a ride.”
“Is – I mean, would your brother be okay with that?”
“Okay, second thing. So, I told Sam about your former job. See, he’s an attorney, and he just lost his legal assistant about three weeks ago. He hasn’t been able to find anybody else yet, and he’s dying to meet you.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
“I’m serious.”
“Dean, I don’t know what to say… The only thing is, I’ll need to rent a car so I can look for a place to live temporarily until I have a steady paycheck.”
Dean grinned. “Third thing. Talked to Donna, my partner. She lives in a two-bedroom place, and she’s been talking about getting a roomie. Not that you’d have to commit to that, but she said you’d be welcome to stay with her until you got settled down there. Or stay on as her roommate if you like it there and decide you want to, whatever.” Jordan was staring at him with her mouth open, so he continued. “Look, I know I just dumped a whole load of stuff on you, you don’t have to answer this second, but the offer – well, offers – are on the table.”
She moved her gaze to the table top and blew out an overwhelmed breath. Tears were stinging at her eyes as she looked back up at him. “Dean Winchester, where have you been my whole life?”

Tk was rolling hoses when he noticed everyone glancing at him with worry and sadness evident in their eyes.
"What?", he said, annoyed, before he got his answer. He heard his dad calling for him, Tk took the stairs to his dad’s office letting out a huff as he entered.
"Dad, what's going on? Why is everyone being so weird?"
"Son…" Owen began, "there's something I have to tell you."
"Ok…" Tk answered back, "whatever it is, I didn't do it."
He abruptly stopped laughing when he saw the shine of tears in his dad's eyes.
"Dad, is it mom, is it the baby?'' he began rambling, panic now gripping him.
"Tk, there was an incident at a scene and Carlos…" Owens' voice broke as he said the man's name.
"What about Carlos?" Tk whispered, forcing the words past the sudden lump in his throat.
Owen continued, "They were chasing a suspect and Carlos ran after him into an abandoned warehouse…" Owen paused here, not wanting to say what happened next.
"Dad please, I have to know!" Tk choked out.
Owen nodded, "The warehouse was full of chemicals. The man that they were chasing realised this and he threw his lighter into one of the puddles. I don't think he expected anything other than a small fire but the building exploded and… Tk, I’m so sorry but Carlos didn't make it out…"
"No." Tk said, "he’s fine, how do they know he didn't make it?"
"Son they found two bodies inside the building once they got the fire contained…" Owen said sadly.
"Dad." Tk whispered.
Then, in an instant, his whole world fell apart.
"Nooooo!" he screamed, sobbing uncontrollably."...No... I can't...please... Not without him!", his words coming out a jumbled mess.
By this time the rest of the station had gathered around outside Owen's office, Tk was hysterical.
"I need him, I don't wanna be without him. I can't be without him!!" Tk was rambling faster and more frantically than ever before.
Just as his knees crumpled beneath him he felt a pair of arms catch him, but no he had to have been dreaming. The arms around him couldn't be real, they belonged to the one person who Tk was desperate for, the man that his dad had just told him was gone. Could he dare hope this was real, not just his desperate mind clinging to false hope?
"Shhh, baby it’s ok, I'm here." Carlos’ voice cut through his confusion.
Tk ‘s eyes snapped up and his breath hitched in his throat as they locked with the brown eyes of the man he loved.
He couldn't speak, he was staring, praying that he wasn't hallucinating.
" What? How?..." he heard his dad ask in disbelief.
So he wasn't dreaming, everyone else could see Carlos was there too.
His dad was speaking, his confusion evident, "They told me the news and... I just told Tk...you're supposed to be dead…"
"I know." Carlos said, tears falling down his face. "When the explosion happened, I got lucky, there was this storage thing close to me so when I saw what the guy was planning, I jumped in there. I must have passed out or something cuz the next thing i know I came to and I couldn't get out. I started banging on the door and screaming" Carlos explained.
"They finally found me and pried the doors open, once I was out, Mitchell had told me that they had found a second body and assumed it was me and had already made the notification to you…" he continued, looking at Owen, "I tried to get here before you told Tk, I didn't want him to feel this...but i was too late…" He looked back at TK who was still looking at him as if he had seen a ghost.
"You can't be real,'' he whispered, the tears starting to fall again.
"Baby I'm real, I'm here, I'm safe and I'm alive." Carlos took tks hand placing it over his heart.
"You're alive…" Tk whispered more to himself than to anyone.
The two men were clutching at each other when Carlos noticed the wheezing coming from Tk.
"Babe, you ok?" Carlos asked, concerned.
Tk nodded just as the coughing fit overtook him.
"Shit!" Carlos muttered, "Hey, look at me." he said, turning Tk’s face towards his. "Do you have your inhaler?" he asked.
"it’s …in…..my…..locker…." Tk gasped out.
"I’ll go get it!" judd voluntered.
"No, it's ok." Carlos answered, digging into his pocket pulling out a spare inhaler and pressing it to Tks lips. "Deep breath Ty, come on, that's it." he coaxed.
Carlos was so consumed with tending to his lover, he didn't notice the look of complete bewilderment that had echoed across Owen's face.
This man loved his son enough to carry an extra inhaler with him at all times…always prepared to come to his son's aid no matter the inconvenience or cost.
The unnoticed bewilderment slowly morphed into a genuine, heartfelt smile.
After a couple puffs of his medicine and much calming down on Carlos' part, Tk’s breathing was back under control.
"You ok?" Carlos whispered to Tk. A small nod was all the other man could muster.
"Come with me," Tommy said, "I'll look you over."
Tk clamped his hands around Carlos, refusing to let go.
"It’s ok Ty, I’ll be right here." Carlos reassured him.
Nodding, Tk let Judd help him to his feet and down the stairs.
Turning to Owen, Carlos took a deep breath but before he could say anything, he was startled by the older man wrapping him in a bone crushing hug.
"I’m so glad you're ok, son." Owen said, releasing Carlos.
"Me too," he replied, "I just wish I could have gotten here sooner...Look Owen, I know he still has a few hours left on his shift but I need to take Tk home. I just...need to hold him…" he said.
"It’s perfectly fine, Carlos. I don't think Tk’s gonna let you out of his sight for a while anyway. " Owen answered.
Carlos approached the back of the ambulance where Tk was sitting.
"Everything checked out,'' he asked, looking at tommy.
"Yep he’s good to go,'' she replied. "You know you really should let me take a look at you,'' she said, pointing to the cuts littering carlos’ face.
"I’m ok, I just really need my guy." He said, a small blush rising on his cheeks.
The two men were so lost in each other's eyes they didn't notice Tommy slip away.
Tk stood up taking Carlos by the hand, "Before we go," Tk said, "you're getting a shower."
Carlos didn't object as they made their way to the showers. Standing under the warm spray, Tk rested his hands on Carlos’ chest and said, "I thought I lost you today. I was so scared…"
"I’m so sorry, baby." Carlos replied looking into Tks eyes.
Without warning Tk surged forward capturing Carlos’ mouth in a searing kiss, their arms wrapped around each other so tight there was no space between them. Carlos pushed Tk back into the wall never once losing the connection. Tk let out a small whimper when Carlos pulled back panting for air.
"I told you Ty, I'll always fight to come home to you."
Tk smiled as he kissed Carlos again, relishing in the fact that his love was safe here in his arms and his world was whole again.

The Struggle of Loving You - Chapter 39
Chapter Selection
I walked my way in Aarons office, he sat silently at his desk with papers that stacked his desk. He noticed and watched as I took a seat on his couch.
I laid down and covered my eyes, "Are you okay?" I groaned in response and turned on my side.
"Mentally... I'm fine. Now physically my head is fucking killing me."
"Light sensitive?", I nodded my head and Aaron stood up to close the blinds that faced the outside. It got dark instantly and a wave of relief coated me.
I uncovered my face and saw Hotch standing over me. He put a hand on my forehead, "You're not running a fever, is that all that hurts."
I let out a weak chuckle at Hotch trying to take care of me, "Aaron you're not my mom."
"I know that, I just want to make sure you're alright." He said softly.
"Are you saying that as my boss?" Aaron pulled a chair from in front of his desk and took a seat over me.
He laughed lightly, "Yes as your unit chief I want to make sure my agent is in a good condition to work in the field and office."
He switched his tone to more caring and gentle. "As your boyfriend I want to take care of my girlfriend if she's not feeling well... wouldn't you say that's fair."
I rolled over and pulled one of the leather cushions under my head.
"I guess that's reasonable", we smirked and he brought the back of my hand to his mouth, pressing a kiss to the back of it.
He always wanted to take care of me, I was the most important thing to him... other than Jack of course. He wanted to protect me and be certain that I was safe, in all circumstances.
Aaron Hotchner was the man to put himself in the line of fire for someone he cared for, his protective nature just took over especially when he knows he could save someone.
That instinct gets twenty times more powerful when it's someone he loves. That was the one of the many reasons I loved the man, his heart was so big.
"Do you need ibuprofen?"
"I took some ten minutes ago, didn't work that's why I'm here." He grinned and walked back to his desk. Sitting down he pulled a stack of files from the corner of his desk and pulled one out.
"Do you ever actually work, there's so many papers."
"Well what do you think I was doing before you came in here." He gazed at me.
"Just watching my beautiful ass through your window but that's just a guess." A deep chuckle filled the room.
"Can I help?", I started getting up but his rumbling voice stopped me.
"Not right now, just get some rest", settling back down I nestled into the leather. I could smell the lingering scent of Aarons cologne from when he would spend late nights at the office and forgot to head home.
I started slipping in and out of sleep and going into a dream but the sound of the door opening tugged me out.
Garcia poked her head into the room, "Sir, we have a case." The door was left open and I heard Hotch shuffle around before the door clicked shut.
I opened my eyes and I was alone, he left me by myself so I could try and sleep but that wasn't going to happen.
I rolled off the couch, swinging his office door open and squinted my way over to the round table room.
I took the seat next to Hotch and put my head in my hands, massaging my temples.
"Okay now I know it's early but you know how these things go.... this case is local. There are currently seven victims of a serial arsonist. Sarah Lauren,  Jacob Parker, Darren Bryant, Joel Hogan, Florence Reynolds, and the two most recent identified Johns Doe's are Andrew Simmons and Anthony Dickinson--"
The rest of what Garcia said faded out as she showed the victims on the screen.
I picked my head up and my hand traveled under the table, instinctively finding Aarons hand. He glanced over at me then back at the screen and he realized.
His hand squeezed mine and I tried holding on... I did. Both of them fucking burned.... gone.
While Rossi was speaking I stood up and left, darting to the bathroom and hovered over the toilet just waiting.
I started throwing up and I couldn't stop, I heard the door open, someone pulled back my hair.
"Y/n are you okay?", Emily was by my side holding my hair in her fist while I was busy getting rid of my breakfast.
She reached over and got me some paper towels when I leaned against the wall.
"What happened? You've never reacted like that before."
"Probably just some food poisoning." Totally wasn't because all of my friends are dead. "Is the briefing over?"
"Yeah Hotch wanted me to check on you while he finished things up... we leave in an hour." I nodded and tried to catch my breath after not being able to breath.
"Can you get me some water?" She said of course and left.
When she walked out I gathered some strength to stand up. I leaned against the sink and hit the wall before breaking down in tears.
The door opened, "Thank yo— oh."
Aaron stepped over and wiped the streams off my face, "Aar." I fell into his arms. He was quick to comfort me, his arm went around my waist holding me close to him.
Emily ended up leaving the water on my desk, when she had opened the bathroom door all she saw was Aaron holding me and she walked out.
After ten minutes of trying to calm myself down I finally did. Pulling away from Aaron he looked down at me and kissed my temple, "Come on baby."
I followed him out of the bathroom when my face was clear of any sign of the sadness that overwhelmed me.
Going into the bullpen I ignored the stares after Hotch gave them a look silently saying 'don't ask.'
Keeping with that they never said a word. Letting me be and settle with the fact that the friends I had were now all six feet under.
______
On the jet Hotch sat next to me for the emotional support I desperately needed. The whole flight my hand never left his as it rested under the table in my lap.
While the whole team was debriefing and trying to organize everything they definitely noticed my silence, I spoke as little as possible.
If I broke my friends down to victimology I was going to break, the team didn't need to see that.
The people I knew for years were going to be reduced to words on a page.
When we landed he never left my side, I'd see the team whispering to each other while he walked.
Going into the police station we walked in and I automatically went to the conference room, "I'm gonna go sit for a while okay."
"Tell me if you need anything." Rossi and Reid went to the Morgue to look over the victims
The photos stared back at me and it brought a bad taste to my mouth. Blaming myself for the position that they were in, if I'd stayed in contact then maybe they wouldn't be the victims of a crime.
______
The next two days were spent looking at the limited crime scenes that were available to us. The rooms where Anthony and Andrew died were the most charred.
They were the obvious victims in the crime, the other deaths were accidental.
Whoever the killer was it was going after the people I knew, Hotch knew that but it was a silent rule that I set for us to not speak of it.
Despite the rule, it was going to happen, Garcia would do a background check on the boys and she'd find out I also knew them.
Because of the time between the kills Hotch kept the possibility that this was related to Chloe's death, the connection being me and the COD.
I knew it was but again, the unspoken rule came into play in those moments that he wanted to ask.
"What did you find Garcia?", what I predicted was happening.
It was routine to find out what the victim's past was, in this case it was personal and not the work of a serial killer. At least one had a specific type.
"The tenants in the apartment buildings all started living there at different times, they didn't know each other from what I see. The only connection I actually found was from the previous John Doe's; they went to college together and graduated together in twenty eleven." Garcia finished speaking.
I sat down on the opposite end of the table avoiding Reids gaze towards me, "Y/n didn't you graduate in twenty eleven?"
I let out a small sigh and looked down, "Is that relevant?" Reid leaned forwards and spoke into the microphone. "What are you getting at?" Aaron said before walking closer to me.
Aaron and I both knew what was happening.
"Garcia can you find out for me please." I heard her fingers clicking over the keyboard. I could already see the nervousness on her face.
She was just trying to help and even though she didn't want to break my trust and privacy, she understood there was a good reason for him asking.
"She did graduate that year and... y/n also went to college with three of the victims."
Morgan and Emily scrunched their eyebrows, "Baby girl I thought you said the other victims didn't know each other other than the Johns."
"That's right but I just added a new one to the list, Chloe Prescott." I felt the tears coming on and I really didn't have time for this. I stood up and leaned into Aarons ear whispering.
"You guys can ask me about it later, I can't right now."
He agreed and told me to be safe, I walked away from him. I could feel the stares from the team burning the back of my neck when I left.
Taking the SUV I drove away. When I walked into the hotel room I got a phone call, I held the phone to my ear.
"Hello." I was too tired at care and after a moment of waiting for a response I hung up.
Stripping my clothes I took a shower feeling the cold water on my skin is what I needed. It cleared out the headache that was like a gnat in my head.
Walking out of the bathroom with damp hair I made myself comfortable in Aaron's clothes.
Climbing into the bed I turned off the lights.
I wanted a little relief from the rage, sadness, and pain bubbling under my skin.
I felt like I was suffocating, being quite literally the only person to understand the sorrow I was feeling.
No one near me could relate, I didn't need the pitiful glances.
I was going to get them though, the 'oh honey' or 'I'm sorry'. The questions started spiraling in my head, asking why me? what the fuck do they want?
Trying to sleep and having no luck I was still stuck in the stage of sleep where I was gone enough to dream but I heard every little thing that happened.
At that moment the door started to open and I looked forwards, seeing the window, it was still dark.
I realized it was Aaron from the belt being unbuckled and I rolled over. "You're still up?" Aaron started getting undressed and I took a deep breath.
"What time is it?"
“Two o’clock, you should've been asleep for a few hours now." After sitting up the phone started ringing, looking at it I declined after I saw Unknown.
"Who was that?"
I rubbed my eyes, "Unknown Caller and yeah well after everyone gets in your shit it's hard to stop thinking about."
He was down to his boxers and he climbed into bed, I made movements and cuddled into his chest.
Aaron kissed the top of my head, "I know baby."

Going with Ani to free his mom because you know it’s such a big moment for him (and obviously being there for the aftermath)
oof. here I go to make myself angsty for the evening
same day request answering. its like its april.
Tumblr media
Padme Amidala is a really good person. It pretty much all comes back to that.
She’s kind. She’s empathetic. She recognizes when someone is in pain, and when someone needs help. She understands when an unwise course of action is one that needs to be taken.
So, of course, she understood when the Jedi apprentice meant to protect her instead wanted to run away to his birth planet and help his mother. Of course she did.
Though, level headed as she was, she thought that it might be wise to gather up another Jedi. To watch over her while Anakin was distracted, or possibly to help Anakin face whatever plagued his mother.
She suggested Anakin call upon Obi-Wan, which he refused. Obi-Wan’s mission was just as important, and if he knew what Anakin planned, Anakin would never be allowed to go.
So, instead, he called for you.
You were also a Jedi apprentice, at that time training between missions at the temple on Coruscant. Your master, Shaak Ti, trusted you immensely, and granted you permission to leave on your own. You commanded a Starfighter and were on your way- opening a com to Anakin en route. You had never been to Tatooine before, but had heard about it whenever Anakin felt like sharing his childhood. As his closest friend other than his master, you knew how much his mother weighed on his soul, and how much he had wished that Qui-Gon could have saved her, too. You had known that one day, he would try to return. He had promised his Shmi as much.
Anakin’s reunion with Watto was tense for just about everyone there. You didn’t know the terrain, you barely knew Padme, you certainly didn’t know Watto, but you felt the impatience rolling off of Anakin. It put you on edge, and so as he followed Watto into the shop, you kept pace behind Padme, ensuring her safety. It was the one thing you felt you were capable of doing, the one thing you could control.
Anakin wasn’t very talkative. Padme tried- but he was a focused man, and felt closer to finding his mother than he had in a decade. You were a silent support, beside the senator, as though you could take some of the weight off of Anakin’s shoulders. Every emotion he experienced seemed to radiate out from him, and it almost made your head pound to get blasted with them all- the guilt, the fear, the anger. You just hoped that he’d find his mother alive, or else, you imagined, this would get so much worse.
When you left the ship again, you found yourself in the most flat, barren landscape you’d ever seen. Growing up among the skyscrapers of Coruscant, it was almost unfathomable, to look out at the horizon and see nothing between you and it.
There was, however, one little building, which you could gather was your destination. And a droid.
Anakin’s mind must have been clouded by his emotion, or maybe he just wasn’t showing it, because you could feel that something was off. From the moment C-3PO requested to go inside, you knew that there was nothing but bad news here. You couldn’t say anything, though- you felt it wasn’t your place. Anakin was among his family, now, even if they’d never met him, and he needed to hear it from them.
You could tell. Shmi Skywalker was gone.
“It was just before dawn,” Cliegg Lars explained, “they came out of nowhere. A hunting party of Tusken Raiders.” You had heard of them before- in Anakin’s ramblings of the pod racing he did as a child. You sat at the end of the table opposite Cliegg, though it did feel informal. The head of the table was meant for anyone other than you, surely- but Anakin had his place at Cliegg’s right hand, and Owen at his left.
“Your mother had gone out early, like she always did, to pick mushrooms off the vaporators.” At the very least, you were silently happy that Shmi had spent her last years as a free woman with a husband that clearly cared about her greatly.
“From the tracks, she was about halfway home...” Your heart broke with every word for Anakin Skywalker, who had spent years dreaming of returning for his mother, only to arrive too late. “...When they took her.” Anakin’s face was devoid of clear emotion, but you knew him well- you could see that famous temper brewing inside of him. But, this was more than a frustration. This was so much deeper than that.
“Those tuskens walk like men,” Cliegg continued with a sigh, “but they’re mindless, vicious monsters. Thirty of us went out after her, four of us came back.” You lowered your head in respect, but kept your eyes on your friend, whose brows were tightly knit. He was thinking, mulling it over, considering, processing. You couldn’t blame him, but wished you could make it easier.
“I’d be out there with them, but...” Cliegg, too, was weighed down by his grief. His loss, you could see, was still just as raw as Anakin’s. “After I lost my leg, I just couldn’t ride anymore, until I heal.” Anakin’s heart seemed to break open wider with every moment that passed him by, and Cliegg continued, trying to reassure his lost stepson that his mother hadn’t died unloved.
“I don’t want to give up on her, but she’s been gone a month.” Unimaginable it was how much it must’ve hurt Anakin to know that he had missed her by only a month. “There’s little hope she’s lasted this long.”
And there it was- the clear implication to Anakin that his mother was not only gone, but dead. That there was a finality to it, and nothing he could do. You watched him, carefully, as he turned his head, and clearly you could see that he didn’t take such helplessness well.
He stood, and you made to do the same, but the both of you were interrupted by Owen, asking Anakin’s intensions.
“To find my mother,” Anakin said, and you let out a short breath.
“Your mother’s dead, son,” Cliegg said, with the voice of a heartbroken husband, “Accept it.”
Anakin left without a word.
You followed, knowing his plan.
“Anakin, it’s dangerous,” you told him, and he turned, shaking his head.
“I’m going. I have to.”
“I know,” you said, and in the gaze you shared with him, he realized that you meant to come with him.
Padme emerged from the entrance, and her gaze met yours. You nodded, and she gathered that you hadn’t been able to stop him. You hadn’t tried.
“You’re gonna have to stay here,” you said, a little more hardness in your tone than you had intended. “You’ll be safe until we return.” Anakin stood behind you, grief and anger rolling off of him, and though she could not feel the Force, Padme clearly could see a man in pain. After all, Padme Amidala is a really good person. She walked to him and gave him a brief hug.
“We won’t be long,” you promised as they parted, and as she retreated inside, you followed him to the speeder.
The longer he rode, the more anguish he felt. He hardened before you, from a boy who lost his mother, to a man who sought revenge. You could only hope you would serve to curb the damage.
Just after nightfall you reached the encampment of the raiders, their domes still lit by dying fires. You deferred to Anakin’s lead, assuming that he would know your enemy better than you. It had been a while since the two of you had gone on a mission together- if the atmosphere were less dire, you might have even enjoyed it.
You don’t know how he chose which dome to enter, but it was the right one. You felt the world change when Anakin laid eyes on the bloodied woman tied to a post, like you were recognizing her yourself. Shmi Skywalker, still alive.
“Go,” you whispered, stationing yourself between the opening of the dome and the opening Anakin had created. His reunion was his own, and you gave him the best security and privacy you could. It was astounding that she had survived, all this time, and for a moment you were filled with hope, joy, that he had disobeyed Cliegg and searched for her anyway. Otherwise, she likely never would have been found. You kept your eyes to the night outside the dome, a lookout, your breathing calm with the joy and love and relief that Anakin had once again allowed into his body.
And then you felt it change.
You whirled around, and she was dead, and Anakin’s silence was suddenly all you could hear. The world was turning red around the both of you as he felt the grief of his mother’s death for a second time, and his eyes lifted to yours.
“Anakin,” you breathed, knowing nothing else to say. His grief hardened into anger, but he gently closed her eyes and held her close. You didn’t know what to do. Panic hit you hard as his anger curdled into rage, and his eyes lifted.
“Anakin, we need to take her home,” you said, hoping to deflect his focus. He didn’t listen.
As he lowered her gently to the floor so that he could stand, you tried to move into his way, and successfully you cupped his face, catching his eyes for just a moment. In them, you didn’t see the anger you felt from him. In them, you saw so much sadness.
And so you let him go.
It wasn’t the Jedi way, you knew that. And you wished you could will yourself to move, to stop him, because the pain that his actions would cause would haunt him, possibly for the rest of his life. But it felt as though he needed this, as though it was the only thing that would sate his soul. So you breathed mantras, and did your best to combat his anger with peace, thinking that it might invade him.
And when the Tusken Raiders had all given their last breaths to Anakin Skywalker, you went to him.
He collapsed to his knees under his own weight, no longer grieving but feeling a consuming emptiness. You had to force yourself to block it out as you ran to him, and pulled him against you. Never before had you felt someone who needed a hug so bad, and only then did he begin to break, knotting his fingers into the robes at your back. He buried his face, but did not cry, and you stayed as long as he needed you to.
You drove home. He held his mother, behind you, cradling her like she had once held him. You rode through sunrise, back to Cliegg’s home, where quickly you were met by Owen, Padme, Cliegg, Beru. You dismounted quickly and retreated, knowing that this was Anakin’s moment, and his alone. His anger had returned, but it didn’t feel so sharp anymore- it was anger and sadness and frustration, and it just felt to you like pain. Incredible pain.
You stayed in the room with him, wherever he went, continuing the strategy you’d had back at the camp. You held peace in your chest, and hoped that he could feel it the way you felt his pain. You hoped it would calm him. His pain did not fade, but it did dull, and for a while as he tinkered with the shifter, it felt as though maybe the anger had drained from his body.
Padme entered with two meals, and she handed one to you before approaching Anakin, her footsteps light, but her presence noticeable.
“I brought you something,” she said over his shoulder, and when he didn’t respond, she moved around to his front. “Are you hungry?”
“The shifter broke,” he told her, and if it wouldn’t have taken from your concentration you would’ve chuckled. He avoided the question- you knew he hadn’t eaten in at least a day. “Life seems so much simpler when you’re fixing things.” You would give anything to have back the boy you’d trained with on Corellia. So heavy Anakin felt now, with everything that had happened. You wished you could give him back the peace he had once felt. Padme looked to you briefly as she moved to set down the tray near Anakin, and you nodded. You’d get him to eat eventually.
“I’m good at fixing things,” Anakin continued, “always was.” Padme turned back to him slowly, the both of you noticing the waver in his voice. “But I couldn’t...” he trailed off, putting down his tools. “Why’d she have to die? Why couldn’t I save her?” You sat up, more toward your feet, ready to approach him if you felt the need. He was getting ramped up again, but the jagged edges of his grief this time was less anger and more blame. Blame on the Tuskens, blame on himself. “I know I could have!” He turned from Padme and for the briefest of moments his eyes met yours, but he moved forward, away from both of you.
“Sometimes there are things no one can fix,” Padme said softly, and you kept your breathing steady to combat his erratic emotion. “You’re not all powerful, Ani.”
“Well, I should be,” he said, giving her words no time to hang in the air.
“Anakin,” you said, showing disapproval of such a thought, and for the first time wished Obi-Wan was there.
“Someday I will be,” he insisted. “I will be the most powerful Jedi ever.” He turned to face you and Padme again, tears glistening on his face but his expression angry. You didn’t know what to say, even when he levied his gaze toward you.
“I promise you. I will even learn to stop people from dying.”
“Anakin,” it was Padme’s turn to say, and what he said next shook you to your core.
“It’s all Obi-Wan’s fault!” he shouted, “He’s jealous! He’s holding me back!” Anakin launched whatever he’d picked up across the room, and it clattered quietly before coming to rest.
“You know that’s not true,” you said, quickly rising to your feet. You took a step closer to Anakin as he turned away, but did not get too near.
“I know,” he conceded under his breath. Padme sensed what was really going on.
“What’s wrong, Ani?’ She asked, and finally you realized what was truly causing his pain, in this moment. He was looking at his hands as he stuttered the beginning of a sentence, the hands that had killed so many.
The peace in your body faltered- if you had stopped him, he wouldn’t be grieving nearly so much now. It was your fault.
“I killed them,” he explained, “I killed them all. They’re dead- every single one of them.” He turned to Padme with rage at himself and the raiders twitching his lips, tears still falling from his eyes. “And not just the men, but the women and the children, too. They’re like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals!” You lowered your head, trying to push away your own guilt so that you could be there for him. His pain, you knew, was greater than yours.
“I hate them!”
Hate leads to suffering.
As Anakin sank to the floor, you and Padme sat to flank his sides. You were his best friend, closer to him than anyone else in the world, and so you leaned against his side while Padme offered her words.
“To be angry is to be human.”
“I’m a Jedi,” Anakin insisted, “I know I’m better than this.”
“Most Jedi never know their parents,” you said softly, “and never form attachments. There is no one in a Jedi’s life who matters as much as your mother does to you. I’m sure you’re taking this with more grace than Master Windu would have.” Anakin didn’t laugh, but he did quiet, almost as though he believed you. Slowly you found the hand he held beside his knee, and gathered it into yours.
Padme leaned forward and gave him the best hug she could from the side, but then left Anakin alone with you.
She’s a good person, like that.
“Anakin, I’ve known you for a long time,” you started quietly, “and all of that time I’ve known you to be a kind man. A compassionate man. Quick to anger, yes, but not to judgement. They earned your rage, and that’s okay. It does not outweigh all of the good you’ve done in your life.” His grip tightened on your hand, still his breathing erratic, but once again the jagged edges of his mind began to soften. You let silence drift into the room for a moment as he slowly evened.
“She was beautiful,” you said, laying your head down onto his shoulder. He nodded, and slowly, there grew the beginning of a smile on his face. “And she won’t be forgotten.”

“In a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I’d find you”
The chaos of stars - Kiersten White
Just a little one shot inspired by the song “Cardigan” and this lovely past life reading by Adora’s light.
MY MASTERLIST
You cursed as your high heel got stuck on the cobblestone, making your ankle twist painfully. It would be just like you to be late, and injured, on your first day. But no, you still had about half an hour to spare, and the building was literally across the street.
You tried to slow down your pace, and the beating of your heart, it would do you no good to arrive early, shaky and exuding nervousness like the inexperienced rookie you were. A smile broke through your face as you saw the coffee shop. Yeah, an herbal tea would do you worlds of good.
Your bare feet hit the stone tiles of the castle floor, running. People were running in all directions, screaming in terror: the enemy was inside already, the fires raging in the citadel nothing but a mere distraction. You heard the cries of your maiden inside your own bedchamber being beaten for information, you knew what the enemy wanted: You.
“Meri Rani!” That voice. You knew that voice. “Meri Rani, this way!”
A strong, rough hand wrapped around your dainty one, guiding you behind a tapestry, to the hidden pathways and you could have cried in relief.
Your brave knight. Your faithful guardian.
You were safe.
You were always safe in his arms.
The music hit you with a wave of melancholy as soon as you opened the door of the shop. That old Elvis’ song always made you strangely nostalgic. You smiled at the bittersweet feeling, stepping in line to order.
You didn’t want to fall into the “I was born in the wrong era” cliche, you really didn’t. And you knew a lot of people thought you were boring, too old fashioned, sometimes even snobbish because of it. But truth was, modern music just didn’t hit the same. The fast rhymes, oversaturated and monotone beats didn’t move you. You sounded like your grandmother, but they just didn’t make good music anymore. Not that good at least.
“Wise meeeen say” You watched your boyfriend stumble under the streetlights, torn between exasperation and fondness. Drunk. He was drunk. Unbelievable. “Only fooools ruuuuusshh in”
As unbelievable as how nicely those Levi’s hugged his hips, as he twirled around the pole… and somehow managed to slip, face planting on it.
“Ouch!”
“Yeah, you’re a fool alright, Thomas"
You rushed to his side, prying his hands away from his face to check his nose.
"It’s all your fault, doll. I’m a fool for you” He winked, but the effect was somehow dampered by the blood falling freely over his lips. “We should go to that Elvis concert next month"
His warm brown eyes lit up with enthusiasm at his own new idea.
"Hmmm I’m not sure we should” You feigned concern, “I could fall in love with him… he is very handsome”
Your boyfriend snorted,
“No way. You dig me way more than you dig Elvis"
"Not when you’re all bloody and bruised like this…”
“Ow”
“Sorry!” You apologized, trying to be gentler as you finished wiping at his blood with your handkerchief.
His arm snaked around your waist, cold fingers sneaking under your sweater, making you jump slightly.
“Is ok, love” he whispered against your lips, “I’ll let you kiss it better.”
“Hi, hun!” Chloe, the cashier, greeted. “Your usual?”
“Oh, no, I’m jumpy enough today!” You chuckled, perusing the tea menu, “I think I’ll have… some lavender tea today. Good for first day anxiety.”
“Wouldn’t lime flower be better for that?” The blonde teen frowned in confusion.
“Lavender is just as good, plus it won’t make me drowsy”
Chloe rang your order, taking a mental note of your words.
“I’ll try to remember that for the next customer that asks for lime flower. How do you even know so much about herbs?”
You simply shrugged, accepting your change,
“I don’t know, I guess I just have a memory for this kinda thing”
“Mama!"
You raised your head from where you were harvesting berries of bittersweet nightshade, and felt your heart skip a beat. The image of your husband walking to you with your little girl in his arms still managed to take your breath away and fill your whole being with warmth and joy even after three years.
You stood up, wiping your dirty hands on your skirts.
"See, bumblebee? I told you mama was just outside” You heard Tom’s soft words soothing the crying infant. “She doesn’t like it when she wakes up and you’re not there…” He added to you, the corners of his mouth belying his amusement.
“Is that true, sweetie?” You inquired, extending your arms toward the toddler, who practically leaped into them. Your daughter only nodded in response, hiding her face on your chest, fisting her tiny hands on the top of your dress, holding on as if she was afraid you were gonna disappear any minute.
“Aye… I think she misses you almost as much as I do when you’re gone” Tom declared, wrapping his arms around both his girls, trying to squish down the uneasiness that had taken over him ever since he had heard…
“Is that so?”
Both your husband and your daughter nodded, making you chuckle.
“What if mama makes some marzipan cakes tonight? Would that cheer you up? We could go to the village in the afternoon to get some flour”
Your husband’s stomach made a flip, the sound of your daughter’s enthusiastic approval drowned by his own worries and fears.
“Or we could just let your daddy make some of his honey candies. No need to go to the village…"
You finished stirring the honey in your tea, and hurried to put the lid back to the cup, eager to leave. As much as you loved the little cafe, you couldn’t quite stand it in the mornings. You hated the fact that they served american breakfast. The smell of bacon and sausages, actually the smell of any meat being cooked, never failed to make your stomach churn. That was actually the main reason for your vegetarianism, even stronger than your convictions, your compassion and love for animals. Even stronger than your concerns or your wish for a healthier lifestyle, was your dislike. While most people found that smell mouthwatering and delicious, to you, it only ever smelled of burnt flesh.
Your beloved husband’s face was the only one you could make out in the crowd. His pale, tear streaked face, looking almost blue in the twilight. But no, it wasn’t twilight yet, it couldn’t be with the sun still so high in the sky.
… Then why was everything so blue?
The executioner tightened the ropes around you, but you couldn’t feel them. You were numb all over.
"I’m sorry” He murmured, “but I will have to hurry up. Your husband gave me the tea but I think I used too much. If they realize what I did, they will burn me too"
You understood then: wolfsbane. He couldn’t save your life, there was no way he could have, the archbishop had watched you like a hawk all the time they had kept you in the tower. But he wanted to spare you the pain. And not even the man of the church could find it in himself to deny you your last wish: a single cup of tea… that you hadn’t requested.
"Why?” You managed to let out, “Why are you helping me?"
"You helped me once. Or rather, my girlfriend. Well, my wife now”
You tried to remember. Yes, you were sure that was her, the blacksmith’s daughter. She was supposed to be a maiden, back then. If her father found out, he would have beaten her to death, but with a little pennyroyal you had put an end to her predicament.
You could see the regret in his eyes as he let the torch fall into the pyre. You searched your husband’s face through the smoke. His agonized eyes met yours one last time.
No. Not the last. Only the last in that lifetime.
“I love you” You didn’t open your mouth but you knew he had heard you, “forever"
You tried to shake away the morbid thought, as you stepped into the busy street again. It wasn’t all that hard, as you immediately got swept away by it’s fast paced rhythm. There was something about the city, some hidden beauty in it’s chaos, a siren song, a presence. Almost as if somewhere in its darkest alley, there was a heartbeat calling for you. And in a way, you guessed there was, all of them were always crowded, teeming with life. Yet, unlike in any other city, here you weren’t shoved or pushed around. Here, if someone as much as bumped your arm, you would get a quick and embarrassed "sorry”. And you didn’t quite know why you found that so endearing, but you did.
Just another one in the long list of things you loved about London.
You collided with someone, hard, but you couldn’t afford to stop and apologize, so you kept on moving, advancing as fast as you could through the sea of bodies crowding the station. It was almost time, he was stepping into the last train and only god knew if you were ever going to see him again. He had asked you not to come, but you couldn’t, you wouldn’t let him leave without saying goodbye.
You heard him before you saw him. You almost didn’t recognize him from behind, the lush dark curls you loved so much all but gone, the strands shaved around the ears and cut close to the scalp on the back and sides.
“Thomas!”
He turned around just in time for you to jump into his arms, wrapping yours around his neck, hiding your face against his uniformed chest.
“I told you not to come” He breathed against your hair, undone from your race, holding onto you just as hard, “I told you I wouldn’t be able to leave this platform if you did…”
“Then don’t” You countered, “Stay with me. Let’s run away to the countryside, just… just stay"
You felt his choked sob against your cheek.
"If we don’t stop the Germans now, there will be nowhere left to run. And I rather die before letting them anywhere near you”
“Don’t say that” You admonished, breaking your embrace to get a look at his coffee eyes, “Don’t ever say that!"
He shook his head,
"It’s the truth, my love. Of all the beauty in this world, yours is the most breathtaking. Of all the kindness, yours is the most honest.” He took your hands in his, placing soft, reverent kisses on your knuckles “You are everything that’s good and pure in this world. You are everything that’s worth fighting for"
"All aboard!"
The tears were clouding your vision, when Tom’s brave facade fell.
"If anything happens to me at war…”
“Hush! Don’t say-”
“I must, my love” He interrupted you, urgently, “If anything happens to me, my family will take care of you. Listen-”
“No, you listen” You cut him off, “Whatever you were going to say, it won’t be necessary. Because you are going to come back to me, did you hear me?”
His reply died in his throat. He wanted so bad to be able to promise you what you wanted.
“Come back to me, Thomas. Say you’ll come back…"
"Yes, ma'am” He finally vowed, before stealing one last kiss.
“Oh my god, I am so sorry!"
His apology reached your ears even before you felt the hot liquid dripping down your chest, before your distracted mind could process what was happening.
"I was walking too fast and I wasn’t looking where I was going and neither were you and when I realized, I couldn’t stop on time- Not, not that I’m blaming you for this, no, of course not! I mean, that looks hot” He gesticulated to your chest, talking with his hands almost as fast as he was rambling with his mind. You watched his eyes go big and his cheeks turn red as he realized exactly where he was pointing at, “The tea! I meant the tea not your… your- not you! I mean, not that you’re not… I should shut up now, right?"
You tried to stifle your amused smile, but you failed, the brunet man in front of you simply too adorable in his awkward babbling for you to be mad. Even if both your favorite vintage tee and brand new phone were ruined now.
"Probably, yeah.” You confirmed, “You need to stop and breathe, otherwise you might pass out from lack of oxygen. And I don't  think I can deal with that on top of” You pointed at your soaked self, “this"
Relief washed over him at the realization you weren’t mad. The truth was, the only reason he had crashed into you was that he had been too busy staring at you to realize you were coming right his way.
"Yeah, that would be just too rude” He let himself smile a little too, “crashing with you, making you spill your tea and passing out on you? So crossing the line…"
You snorted inelegantly at that.
And he thought it was the cutest thing he had ever seen in his life.
"Let me replace your t-shirt” He offered, hoping to buy himself a few more minutes with you, “and your tea, of course"
You were about to refuse, when your eyes found his, the entire world shifting, tilting on its axis, as your irises met his warm coffee ones.
You knew those eyes.
"I- ok” You cleared your throat, as if that would be able to conceal your shameless staring. “I have…” You checked your watch, “about 20 minutes before work”
“Right. Better make them count then” His boyish smile turned bigger, brighter, “I’m Tom, by the way. And I promise I’m usually smoother than this”
You took the hand he was offering, and it felt like deja vu.
“Y/n. And I hate smooth."
He laughed,
"Great, cause that was a lie…"
You walked back inside the coffee shop together, never noticing it was the hand of fate, the one opening the doors for you, all over again.
