Tactical Communication
I had such a dumb idea that wouldn’t leave my head but it has been making me cackle every time I think of it.
Low int Tav tries to warn Astarion that Raphael is, in fact, a fiend during their first encounter. It could have gone better. Bad comic attached at the end to better explain this dumb idea.
(Hinted Raphael x Tav Hinted Astarion x Tav)
Warnings: none
——
Imagine Tav recognises Raphael as a fiend quickly during their first encounter, despite his disguise.
She wasn’t sure where the stranger was taking them but she had to warn her new travelling companion of the danger they were no doubt following him to.
The fiend walked in front with his back to them and seeing an opportunity to get Astarion’s attention without alerting him, she began to wave her arms above her head like a mad woman. When she saw his gaze fall on her, questioning she panicked as she thought of a way to visually communicate that the man before them was actually a devil.
She knew what to do. Raising her fingers to either side of her head like horns and began to hop manically between her legs. She screwed up her face and wagged her tongue around in a way she hoped screamed Look, I’m big scary devil.
The elf looked deeply disturbed.
She frowned back, raising her eyebrows at him in frustration and continuing her strange dance, wondering why he wasn’t catching on to her obvious communication.
Spinning to the left she yelped and stumbled back as she came face to chest with the disguised fiend. He was sneering down at her, clearly unimpressed.
“Are you quite done?”
Staring at the ground, she nodded quick and sheepish.
“Yeah. Sorry.”
He considered her, holding her in his authoritative scowl, their noses almost touching, until she considered crawling out her own skin in order to escape it. When she had finished flushing a deep cherry red in embarrassment, he took a step back. And cleared his throat.
“Let’s continue, if you think you are capable to do so without further…tomfoolery.”
She would have snorted at the choice of words if it hadn’t been spat so menacingly at her.
It was only when in camp that night, after the devil had made his proposition and released his form that Astarion chose to address the Hollyphant in the room.
“What in the hells was that?”
“I was trying to communicate tactically?”
“And what exactly were you trying to communicate? That your tadpole has chewed through whatever functioning brains you have?”
He sniffed at her, rolling his eyes. Gods, if this was his only ally in the fight to come he may as well toss himself off of the nearest cliff face.
“No. He smelled of sulphur. I was trying to tell you that he was a devil…obviously.”
She considered not adding that dash salt to the wound but he was so rude sometimes.
He sighed and they both sat like that, arms crossed and pouting in silence. It was only broken as he rose to take his leave like he usually did at night, for whatever strange reason.
“Maybe, try the magic, telepathic bloody tadpoles liking our subconsciouses next time…Darling.”
That bastard.
(Please forgive the comic. I just needed to get this tomfoolery out of me as quickly as possible so I can actually focus.)

So, the Aurelia fic is finally done and you can find the full fic here!
After that darker story, I decided to go the completely opposite direction and write some tooth-rotting fluff for my baby Lily! So, here's her first meeting with Sanji!
Tumblr media
Anything Fun
“No cause for alarm, folks,” the waiter said in a sharp tone, hand in one pocket as he crossed the dining room. “Please, enjoy your meals.”
He finally stopped at the table of Luffy and his friends, placing the plate of buns he had brought in front of them.
“Hi! Welcome to our shitty restaurant, where the only thing worse than the ambience is the food,” he hissed, meanwhile looking bored out of his mind. “My name is Sanji. What can I get for you?”
“One of everything, please,” Luffy replied, already stuffing his face with the buns.
“Any drinks? One of our signature cocktails to help you choke down your meal?”
“Giving us the hard sell, huh?” Nami sneered.
But when Sanji looked at her, his demeanor suddenly changed. A smug smile was plastered on his face and the aggressive tone from his voice was gone.
“Apologies, madam, I didn’t see you there. Would you care for an apéritif to start?”
Nami just blinked in confusion and her companions were none the wiser. Was he… flirting with her?
“We have several rare Micqueot vintages in stock. Or perhaps you’d like a glass of Umeshu? You know, somethin’ sweet for someone sweet,” he suggested with a wink.
Oh, he was flirting with her, wasn’t he?
“Something wrong with your eye?” Nami asked, lacking a better comeback.
“Just blinded by your beauty.”
Luckily, Zoro was unwilling to put up with any more of this tomfoolery, and he cleared his throat to get the waiter’s attention.
“Waiter, can I get a beer and something for my friends?”
“Two beers,” Usopp joined in. “I usually have three but—”
“And a milk!” Luffy interrupted.
“Three beers and a milk and, uh, for madam?”
“Water – and listen, we’re still waiting for one more person, so if you could—”
“Really?” A familiar voice called, making Sanji jump.
Lily had just appeared next to him, and she was probably too small for him to spot as even her tall ears didn’t even reach up to his shoulders.
“I thought it was just us,” she grinned, her tail wagging happily from side to side.
“It is just us,” Zoro grumbled, just before being completely caught off guard by Lily hopping into his lap to climb across the bench behind the table, nearly hitting him in the face with her tail multiple times. In fact, he almost had to sneeze from how close the fuzzy hairs were to his nose.
“What took you so long?” Usopp asked as she settled down between him and Nami. “I was already worried you’d fallen into the sea.”
“Oh, I almost did. – One of the ships here has a fox for a figurehead, can you believe it?”
“Did you talk to it?” Luffy blurted out.
Lily just scoffed. “I’m not actually an animal. Besides, figureheads can’t talk. Only Klabautermänner can.”
“Lily,” Nami said softly, tapping her on the shoulder, “do you wanna order something to drink?”
“Yeah!” Lily agreed, turning around to look at Sanji, who, much to the pirates’ surprise, had changed his demeanor yet again.
“And what would the young lady like?” He asked with a gentle smile. “Maybe some hot chocolate?”
Immediately, Lily gasped in excitement. But Usopp cut her off.
“No– no, she can’t have that.”
“Why not?!” Lily protested.
“Because it’ll kill you.”
“Oh bother,” she grumbled, pulling her legs up to her chest and pouting.
“So, you have special dietary needs?” Sanji asked, still smiling and still talking to Lily instead of Usopp. “What is it that you can’t have?“
“Anything fun.”
“Basically anything dogs can’t have,” Zoro mumbled.
“More or less,” Usopp agreed. “Grapes and raisins, chocolate, macadamias, walnuts, tomatoes, dairy, onions, garlic… Well, and caffeine and alcohol, but she’s too young to have those anyway.”
“Anything fun, huh?” Sanji chuckled. “Well, then I have something for you,” he said, lowering himself to Lily’s eye level. “What if I could make you hot chocolate that’s completely safe for you to drink?”
As soon as he had finished talking, Lily’s eyes lit up with sparkles – and it almost seemed like the air around her was sparkling too. “Really?!”
“Yeah! Just give me a few minutes. It’ll be good, I promise. Does that sound nice?”
Lily nodded eagerly. So, Sanji’s smile grew even wider and he headed off to the kitchen.
“What a creep,” Nami mumbled.
“He’s not creepy!” Lily disagreed. “He’s nice! Look at him going through all that trouble for me.”
“Lily, I am so glad that you’re too young to understand.” Nami gently ran her fingers through Lily’s hair, then over her ears, causing her to quietly purr. “You’re right, he’s nice to you.”
“And he’s a great fighter!” Luffy added. “What a great guy!”
“That’s your criteria?” Usopp questioned. “He gives you food and he can fight?”
“Yeah!”
“And that’s new how exactly?” Zoro commented.
A few minutes later, Sanji returned with a tray of drinks, serving Nami first, then the boys…
“And finally, for our little princess.”
He placed a mug in front of her with a bright smile on his face. The mug itself was ornate and what was inside it looked exactly like hot chocolate. It smelled almost the same, too! Sitting atop the foam was a little, foamy figure of a fennec fox.
“Soy milk, a dash of vanilla, and vegan marshmallows. And the chocolate is made using a special fruit that grows on an island in the Grand Line. It tastes just the same but without the toxins that make chocolate poisonous to some people. They call it the chocolate fruit because of that.”
“Wow!” Lily gasped. “The Grand Line really is a great place, huh?”
“Yeah!” Luffy agreed. “And we’re going there!”
“Maybe you can find the fruit yourself then, huh?” Sanji grinned. “Try it, it’s good. But be careful not to burn yourself, alright?”
Lily nodded and quickly took a sip of the hot chocolate. Immediately, her eyes lit up again.
“It’s perfect!”
“I’m glad.”
“Thank you, sir!”
Sanji laughed. “No honorifics, please, just Sanji is fine. – Enjoy your drinks!”
With that, he was off to the kitchen again, but he threw Lily a kind glance over his shoulder on his way back multiple times.

you know that b99 episode where amy gives has her baby? the last episode of season 7? that but with the batfam.
now i’m not normally a huge dickbabs shipper but hear me out, okay?
you’ve got babs as amy, managing things inside the batcave for once, very much pregnant and very much still kicking ass.
you’ve got dick as jake, frantic energy turned up 1000% as he tries everything he can to get back to his wife who’s in labor while also being a hero to everyone around him.
you’ve got tim as charles, super excited for the baby and helping dick out with managing the city, but oh no, dick’s not gonna make it back in time he’s gotta do something. so he takes a deep breath, puts aside his hatred, and calls-
batcow! batcow as seargent peanut butter, (he escaped during the blackout and he’s roaming the streets this makes no sense i know i just love tim and batcow’s hatred hc i’ve got going on). and so, in order to reach the batcave and babs in time, dick rides batcow wait no that sounds wrong. dick mounts batcow fuck nope that doesn’t work either. i read too much fanfiction but you guys know what i mean.
meanwhile, back in the batcave, bruce and jason are trapped in the elavator (much to their mutual discomfort) and for reasons that totally don’t have anything to do with waking up in your own coffin and crawling out of your grave, jason’s claustrophobic as fuck. so he starts freaking out real bad and bruce would rather die than let the fire department, aka the supers, come and rescue them. so as a panicked attempt to get him to calm down, bruce teaches jason a dance that dick had taught him back when he was a kid.
damian. meanwhile. is not having a fun time. not at all. because he’s excited not unpleased about the baby’s arrival, but he hates the way the baby is, well, arriving. but there’s no one around and babs seems content to work through her pain and keep being oracle and goddamnit he knew he shouldn’t have read that delivery manual grayson had left lying around but he did so he actually knows exactly what to do in this situation, he just really doesn’t want to do it.
steph is busy eating all the waffles, with cass trailing behind her amusedly, and then she’s busy building the perfect delivery suite for babs in the batcave. babs tears up bc it’s perfect. and after that, cass goes and rescues jason and bruce from the elevator because i said so.
babs is in pain and they can’t get the anesthetic bc they used it all last night on a major injury of steph’s so babs just has to power through it and it h u r t s. damian is the one helping cass deliver the fucking baby and while cass appears more levelheaded than damian, they’re both freaking the fuck out. and then, to distract babs, bruce and jason do the dance. and it works.
and dick strides into the batcave on batcow’s back and rushes over to babs. tim single-handedly takes down the robbers, arrests dotty, and finds that woman’s lost shoe like the bamf he is.
and all is well.

Tumblr media
It had been a long time since you’d been to your hometown, so long you barely recognized it as you drove in with your fiancé. Streets you once ran around on as a child—knowing each backstreet like the back of your hand—now seemed like the paths of a maze; roads that stirred distant memories of laughter and joy.
Eyes catching new shops where your favorite childhood hangouts once stood, a dull ache laced with both nostalgia and discomfort begins to stir within you. It seems the town had decided to be more modern… more suburban you guessed. It kind of made you sad if you were honest with yourself. You were expecting to return to the home you once loved, and to be bathed in the memories of each corner, shop, and alley.
Becoming more frustrated with each new sight you didn’t recognize, you sink into your seat releasing a sigh. Crossing your arms loosely over your chest, you look down at your knees. Chewing the inside of your cheek, you pondered what your neighborhood would look like. You hoped against hope that at least that small corner of your memories wouldn’t be betrayed.
“You okay?”
Catching your attention, you look to the side at your fiancé who had turned to look at you as he made a stop at a red light. His handsome features twisted into concern, which brought a small smile to your lips. Softly nodding, you try to assuage his worries.
“I’m fine, Seokjin. Just realizing how long it’s been since I was home is all,” melancholy weaving into your voice, gaze forlornly sweeping out the windows of the vehicle again.
“Changed that much, huh?” eyes still on you, every so often shuffling to make sure the street light hadn’t changed yet.
You nod, watching as a couple of teenage girls walk with some name brand iced coffees in their hands, eyes glued to their phones, as they giggled about something mundane. Feeling like a creep for staring, you shake your head and look back at the man by your side. “It’s definitely changed.... too much.”
God, you’d never identified with a boomer harder than you did at this very moment. Words of when I was kid at the tip of your tongue, wanting to rant about all the things you remembered as a kid and how it had been ruined now. You’d never regretted leaving home before, not until this moment. All of your treasured spots, destroyed by gentrification. How depressing.
But then you look at what you had gained from your departure from home and you realize how silly you’re being. You had found tons of struggle out in the world on your own. Learned what it was like to truly live in a woman’s world; having to work twice as hard for half the pay of a man; earning the way you had to always be cautious and on the lookout for dangers that lurked around every corner when the sun went down; learned how to pick yourself back up and work harder, when you were passed up on a promotion in favor of the manager’s son.
But you made it through every obstacle. You were a fighter, and never shied away from fighting to get what you wanted. To deal with the dangers of walking around at night, you took self defense classes. You quit the job that underpaid you. And when the manager at that other job finally offered you that promotion, you gave them your two weeks. You decided to take a position at a startup company that saw your worth, valued your opinions and took your ideas into consideration. A company where you were promoted and given more power to help it grow. It had grown into a multimillion-dollar business. Whose technology had been implemented in every hospital in the country. And the genius behind its creation and production sat by your side.
Kim Seokjin had been a godsend. You’d bumped into him one night at a bar after a particularly rough day of work. You had dropped into the seat beside him, not sparing a single glance his way as you ordered a beer. Shoulders slumping, you rubbed at your eyes in frustration pushing your tears back in. Noticing your distress, he reached out to you. He asked after your well being, taking you by surprise. Cautiously you spoke to him that night, only to be pleasantly surprised by his kind nature. While sharing the struggles of your days with each other, he brought up his start up and how he was looking to fill the position. Handing you a card before you both parted ways, he offered you a position without even knowing your qualifications.
Long story short, you took the position, worked your way up and fell in love with the company's CEO. Of course, there were those that always felt the need to fill the office with unnecessary drama. Hushed whispers in the break rooms, and muttered words across the cubicles of how you had slept your way to the top. But you shrugged them all off, no water off a duck’s back right? Besides, how do you sleep your way to the top of a tiny startup? There was no top or bottom. The tomfoolery of the envious, honestly.
The car jerking into motion brings you back to the present. Blinking the memories of the past decade or so out of the way. Vision returning to your present day home town, suddenly not so bothered by the changes. Your home had grown up and adapted, just as you had. That thought alone brings a smile to your face. A hand slipping over your thigh, giving it a gentle squeeze, making you completely beam as you take Jin's hand in your own ringed hand. Placing a soft kiss on the back of his hand, as you hold it tenderly in your lap, his quiet laugh filling the space in the car as you continued on your way.
Some ten minutes later, you pull up the front of your childhood home; warmth filling your chest as you notice how little it’s changed. Aside from a few cosmetic changes it was still the same. And there they were, all the memories rushing in at once. The feelings you had been anticipating finally hit you. Now you felt like you were truly home as you were surrounded by all the wonderful memories of your childhood.
A gentle hand on your lower back brings you back, you smile up at Jin who stands by your side. A reassuring smile adorns his plush lips, as he rubs small circles on your back in a show of support and affection.
“You ready?”
Taking one large lung full of air, you hold it for a couple beats before deflating and nodding up at him. The steadying warmth of his hand on your lower back fills you with all the confidence you needed as you made your way up the stone patch.
Worries of how your family would react to you being back niggling the back of your mind. You tried to keep in touch as much as you could but there were times it was almost impossible due to financial stability or work load. Damn, a small bit of guilt began to bloom in your chest. So you stand frozen, finger just a few inches from the doorbell. Maybe you should’ve called before showing up.
Sensing your internal struggle, Jin wraps his arm around your shoulder, pulling you into his side. Plush lips press to the crown of your head leaving a quick kiss. “Everything’s going to be fine, babe,” he whispers into your hair.
“How do you know? I mean- I’ve been gone so long… they have to be angry with me. What if they think I don't care?” you fret, teeth gnawing at the inside of your bottom lip, hands twisting into the hem of your shirt, wrinkling the smooth fabric in the anxiety.
Chuckling softly, the arm around you turns you to face the tall male. Eyes roam your face, a warmth in them that always somehow seem to soothe your nerves. And sooth they did as you could feel your worries begin to ebb away.
“Hey, none of that,” he chastises, as he presses his hand lightly to your jaw, thumb tugging your bottom lip down. “You’re going to chew yourself raw. And we don’t want that. I don’t want you hurting yourself.” He places a gentle kiss on your lips as if to soothe away any stinging there.
Your lips can’t help but spread into a smile at how he was being such a mother hen. He was always like this, not just with you but with his employees as well. It’s what made him such a good boss, and an even better partner. Lady luck was feeling extremely generous the day she led you to Jin in that quaint bar.
Returning your smile, he quickly places multiple kisses around your face—on your nose, your cheeks, and your forehead. Arms wrapping around your waist to hold you close, as you giggle at the onslaught of kisses he bestowed you with. The sound of his mirth joining yours, pulling back to hold your cheeks gently. Eyes looking into your own as he assures you, “Everything is going to be fine, so stop stressing for once. We’re here to relax okay?”
Sighing, you nod with a smile still perched on your face. “You’re the best, you know that?”
“Of course, I am. And the most handsome!” all the confidence in the world seeping out of his words, smugness painting over his pretty features.
You scoff playfully, smacking his arm. “And yet you like claiming you’re humble,” shaking your head you turn back to the door and ring the doorbell without hesitation.
“Well, I’m not bragging if it’s a fact,” comes his witty retort which has your eyes rolling. This was nothing new with him, the man knew he was good looking. I mean you’d have to be blind to not think so as well. But you know, can’t let his ego inflate too big.
“I don’t know… I've seen better looking,” you shrug nonchalantly as you press the doorbell again, hoping someone was actually home. Yeah, you definitely should’ve called ahead.
“What? Where? Who is he!? Wait, are you talking about that kid in marketing? What’s his name?” he instantly barrages you with a succession of questions, jealousy bleeding into his tone. “That pretty boy with the deep voice! You-”
He’s suddenly cut off by the jingling of a handle and the lock being turned, as the door swings open. Your mother stands before you, surprise marring her features. Features that remained the same after all these years, a few wrinkles showing her age joined the painting that was your mother’s face. You’d pictured—imagined—scenarios of seeing her again, of how it would go but the feelings you felt now were far more intense than anything your mind could conjure up. .
You were sure the shock she wore was mirrored by you, as you stood there taking the other in. Your heart hammered away at your chest, pumping emotions into every vein throughout your body until it began to leak out of your eyes. As the first drop made it’s journey down your cheek, you stepped forward prompting your mother to mirror your actions, crashing into each other's arms. You didn’t realize you could miss someone so much and up until that point had been unaware that you had missed being held in the arms of your mother.
You could feel her tears seep through the shirt on your shoulder, happy greetings and words blubbered in excitement. Laughing you pull back enough to look at her, a watery smile greeting you.
“I’ve missed you, Momma,” your voice trembling with the emotions overtaking you.
“I’ve missed you too, sweet pea. I’m so happy to see you safe and healthy. I was worried you weren’t eating well this whole time. I know how you can get, you get too involved in what you’re working on and forget to eat,” your mother rambles on, word vomit just pouring out of her. All the words she hasn’t been able to share with you now fill the space between you. As a teenager you would’ve been annoyed, but now as a grown adult you were endeared by her light nagging.
“She still does that,” Jin's voice catching both of your attention. “Not eat, I mean.”
You turn to him, a self-satisfied smile on his lips, and an incredulous look on yours. Wow, not even two minutes, and he was already selling you out to your mother. You shake your head at him, eyes trying to signal for him to stop. He simply chuckles back.
“Oh is that right?” Your mother gives you a look, before looking back at your handsome partner. “And who might this be?” Eyebrows raise in question to you.
“Oh! I’m so sorry. Momma, this is my, um, fiancé, Kim Seokjin. Jin this is my mother,” you awkwardly introduce them. Biting the corner of your lip as you look at your mother out of the corner of your eye.
She looks at you, surprised at your engaged status, which you hadn’t had the chance to bring up during the brief, rare calls home. You can see the message hidden in her eyes, we’ll talk about this later, before turning to Jin. “It's a pleasure to finally meet you. My, you’re a handsome one.”
You close your eyes and internally groan before turning to Jin pointing a cocky smile your way. He sure was annoying when he was proven right. Gloating prick.
He gives you a quick eyebrow wiggle before turning to smile at your mother. “You’re too kind, really,” acting embarrassed, as he rubs the back of his neck and bows in gratitude once more.
“Oh! And he’s modest!” your mothers cheers delightedly.
Wow, he pulled the fake modesty card. You shake your head at him as you quietly scoff, lips almost quirked in a smile, as he winks at you. He was something else. But he was your something else. He was worth it. Headaches, terrible jokes and all.
“So… is anyone else home?” you questioned, curious as to whether your father, or if any of your siblings, were around. You weren’t sure if they’d be as welcoming as your mother, but her warmth and acceptance of you returning gave you the confidence to continue forward.
Your mother nods at you excitedly, wrapping an arm around yours and moving you towards the door. Jin follows behind amused as your mother explains how one of your aunts was visiting with her family, and how a couple of your siblings were in town. She went a mile a minute, spewing out even the latest family gossip—your father’s brother had cheated on his wife, your cousin had come out of the closet after being caught mid act (“What a scandalous event that was!”) and even how your mother’s eldest sister had beat breast cancer.
You sighed happily as you let your mother lead the way, Jin flanking behind you. Man it felt good to be home.
Tumblr media
“We got incredibly lucky,” you said loudly, as you placed a small pile of folded clothes in a drawer. Pacing back over to the suitcase on the bed, pulling out your underwear to place in the same drawer to one side.
“What?” Jin called from the room over.
“I said we got lucky!” you replied, voice louder than before.
“Lucky?”
“Yeah. We‘re lucky they didn’t charge a cancellation fee at the hotel.”
Your mother, after making the rounds with the family, had insisted you stay in your old room. You were surprised that it had remained as you had left it. You were sure it would’ve been turned into a home gym by now, or a man cave for your brother that was still home. The fact that it was still intact, filled you with emotion. Your mother must have held out hope you’d come back, so when she insisted you agreed, unable to deny her request.
Of course there was the task of cancelling your hotel reservation, which everyone knows last minute cancellations come with some hefty cancellation fees. You felt bad as you had dialed the number on your cell, but Jin assured you it was fine and was worth it if you were happy.
As Jin worked on unloading the luggage, you spoke with the concierge who upon looking up the reservation, gifted you with the surprise of not incurring a late fee. You had been surprised and tried to verify the cancellation policy to which the male on the other end confirmed there would be no charge and wished you a pleasant day. You returned the sentiment as you hung up and looked at your partner in mild stupor before relaying the information to which he raised his eyebrows and shrugged, bringing in the rest of your belongings.
“You're still stuck on that?” he points out, humor ringing in his voice.
“Well, isn’t it a bit surprising to you?” you huff, cheeks puffing a bit in a pout.
“I guess…” he trails off momentarily. You could hear the gears turning before he returned with, “Maybe it’s because they saw who I was.”
“What? Why would that matter?” You had a feeling you knew where this was going, and could already feel your eyes preemptively rolling.
“Because, I’m the youngest, most handsome CEO in the nation.” A wheezing laugh following his words, almost sounding like windshield wipers.
Your eyes roll so hard, you see the back of your skull, and into an alternate universe. Why did you put up with him again? And as the sound of a door opening fills the space, you remember one of the reasons as he walks through the door. Towel wrapped loosely around his hips, muscles flexing as he rubbed his hair dry with another towel, he stood in all his glory. Your eyes chase drops of water running down his wet skin, swallowing hard where they disappear into the material knotted around his narrow hips.
“Sweetheart, you’re making me blush with all the ogling,” he chuckles smugly. “I get it though.”
You snap out of your daze, eyes narrowing at his cocky face in annoyance. Shaking your head, you choose to ignore him—turning back to your bag, grabbing some of your toiletries to place on the dresser. Distracted by your task you don’t notice Jin walk up behind you, until you’re tugged back into his wet torso.
“You know,” he mutters into your ear, “I haven’t forgotten that little quip from earlier.” One of his large hands slides up your body, finding its home wrapped around your jaw. He tilts your head back into his shoulder, his other arm wrapping around your waist to pull you further into his form. “You think that kid in the office is better looking than me.”
You take a few calming breaths, body becoming alert with excitement as Jin invades your space. Every word and touch begins to stir desire within you.
“I never said that. You assumed… you know what they say about when you assume,” you can’t help but gibe, lips tugging up in a smirk.
A growl rumbles through you as the grip on your jaw tightens slightly. “Don't be a smart ass… I’ve seen the way you look at him, when you think no one is aware. I’m not an idiot.”
You chuckle, unable to help yourself. His jealous words turn you on more than they should.
“I can’t help it if he’s pretty to look at,” you state complacently.
“Pretty?” he chuckles at your audacity, grip tightening slightly around your jaw. Swinging your jaw away from the direction of his face, the feel of his lips brushing the shell of your ear makes you shiver. “You do look at him. Tell me, do you fantasize about him?”
Your eyes shut, the warmth of his breath traveling through your trapped body; an aching starting to pulse between your thighs. Hands moving back to rest on his towel covered thighs to help maintain balance, but more importantly to assist in feeling grounded.
“You do, don't you…?” His nose nuzzles at your ear, lips pressing behind your ear. “Is that why you stare? Because you imagine what it would be like to have him inside you?” the arm wrapped around your waist loosens, hand traveling south to the apex of your thighs.
You bite your lip, unable to answer his questions. His touch leaves trails of flames wherever they roam, burning any words from you. His words are simmering your blood.
“Is your silence an admission?” he says with a slight edge to his voice. “You imagine him sliding into you? Taking you? As if you're his?” His grip on your jaw moves to your throat, fingers wrapping deliciously around the smooth muscle and flesh.
“You’ll never be his,” he hisses. The hand between your thighs grips your core tightly, a whine escaping your lips at the slight pain and pleasure. “This,” grip tightening for emphasis, “is mine! Your cunt belongs to me. My cock will be the only one to ever claim it,” Jin growls into your ear, hips pressing his hard member into your ass.
Fuck, that was enough to ruin your underwear. His words release the floodgates, slick escaping your lower lips to soak your panties. The growl rumbling against your back, and vibrating in your ear has your mind blanking for a moment, thighs clenching involuntarily around his wrist.
“Turned on by that?” he crows, self gratification filling every word. “Do you like hearing me claim you? The affirmation that no other man will ever ruin this pretty pussy like me?”
Your breath hitches, a strong pulse running through your body like seismic activity relaying that an eruption is imminent. With the way Jin is rutting into your back, hand gently petting your mound, it was only a matter of time before he had you bursting in ecstasy.
His lips lightly trail up and down the shell of your ear, removing his hand from your throat to grip at your jaw and tilt your face up at him. Faces so close, your noses brush, breaths intermingling. He pulls back his head, looking down at you as the corner of his lip lifts in smirk just as he shoves his other hand under the band of your underwear. Long, warm fingers softly run over your lips, massaging gentle circles into them.
Licking his luscious lips, he hisses when one his fingers swipes between your lips. “Fuck,” he groans, biting his thick lip. “You’re this wet from a few words... '' A finger swirling around your opening, spreading your juices. The digit slides up to your sensitive nub, giving it the same attention. Pressing down with a bit of pressure, rolling it around making you arch your back, eyes clenching.
You feel Jin nudge your nose with his own, brushing his lips against yours. Eyes fluttering open, they meet his dark eyes, completely blow black from his arousal. Pink muscle slipping from his lips, sliding across yours teasingly while his hips slowly press against yours to get a bit of relief as your hands grip the towel resting over his flexing thighs. Your lips part, inviting his devilish tongue in, the prelude of you parting your legs for his length.
Taking the invitation, Jin shoves his tongue into your awaiting mouth. The moist muscle wrestling with yours as you kiss each other desperately. Both of you beyond the point of slow and steady when he shoves two digits into your core, his mouth trapping the groan he rips out of you. With no patience, the digits set a steady pace as his palm presses into your clit. Your hips buck at the sudden onslaught of stimulation. Your lips crash against each other like waves, teeth clacking as you try to get closer.
He pulls back from the kiss provoking a whine from you. His jaw clenches as his fingers fuck into your hole, scissoring your walls, preparing you for him. You press your ass into him, feeling how hard he is, your walls quiver around his fingers.
“No more,” you moan quietly.
“What’s wrong, baby? Too much?” he lazily grins down at you, grinding the palm of his palm down on your nub.
Your eyebrows pinch at the stimulation, lips parting without a sound escaping before you’re able to gather your senses again. “No… no more foreplay.” Your lusty gaze meets his, your chest heaving as you try to even it out. “I want you inside me now,” reaffirming how it was only him you wanted.
He pulls you into a hard kiss, pulling his hand out of your pants. Releasing your jaw, he yanks your pants and underwear down your thighs. Lifting your legs to kick them off, he rotates your bodies to walk you back into the bed, nearly ripping your shirt off you. You almost fall as your legs hit the bed, ripping his lips from yours. You both gasp for air as you stare at each other for a moment.
His hand slides into your hair, scratching soothingly at your scalp before gripping it in a firm hold. Turning your face to the side, he leans in, licking a stripe up your neck to your ear. He takes the lobe of your ear between his teeth teasingly tugging it. Pressing a kiss to the shell of your ear, he nuzzles the hair behind it, breath tickling your ear pleasurably.
“Turn around. I want you bent over this bed, with your ass in the air for me. I want to see how your cunt weeps for me.”
His words strike a hard cord within you, goosebumps appearing all over your flesh. You bite your lip, turning your body away from him and move into position. Feeling it wasn’t enough, he uses the grip on your strands to push you down further into the comforter, back completely arched now.
Strands slipping between his fingers as he removes his hand, the other palms your ass cheek, pulling it to the side to look at your core. The groan that leaves him makes you clench.
“Look how pretty… so wet and inviting. Look how your hole clenches, begging for my dick.” His other hand grabs onto the opposite cheek, pulling it away to open you even more to him. Pressing his hips to yours, he slots his length against your soaked lips. Slowly rubbing his member up and down, lubricating himself with your slick.
Every word makes you clench, the desire raging inside you growing desperate for him to fill you. Every throb of the thick shaft almost makes you delirious.
Eyes previously squeezed shut flutter open, as your hands grip the comforter. A childish print catches your attention, suddenly the realization hits you. You’re back at your childhood home, in a house full of relatives. You weren’t alone in this house, and they weren’t asleep. Now that you had awareness, you could hear them beyond the door chattering. You had let lust get away with you.
“Jin wait…” you hiss.
He stops all movement, one of hands gently petting your lower back. “Did I hurt you? Are you okay?” worry slipping into his words.
“No no. You didn’t hurt me. I just… I realized we’re not alone. We can’t do this here. My family is right out there,” you explain in a loud whisper, trying to look at him over your shoulder.
Silence reigns for a moment.
“So?” Jin's single word pierces the quiet.
“What?” you question, baffled by his nonchalance.
“What does that matter?” He shifts before pressing against you, the head of his cock prodding at your bud. He leans over your back, hands resting on your hips. “It doesn’t bother me, and it never has to you either. You never complain when I fuck you in my office, surrounded by all of our coworkers... our employees.”
You swallow hard.
“In fact, you love initiating it. Teasing me in front of them, riling me up.” His hips thrust, length slipping between your lower lips, cushioned comfortably between them.
“T-that’s different.” you try to argue, but his throbbing manhood against you makes it hard. “Thi-this is my family… who I haven't seen in a long time. I can’t h-have them thinking badly of me.”
He’s quiet but for a minute before wrapping a hand around your mouth. “Then you better keep quiet,” is the quick warning he hisses in your ear as he pushes his length into you.
His hand traps the sound of your yelp. Your walls stretch deliciously but sting at his abrupt intrusion as he buries himself completely. He doesn’t move, allowing you to adjust, placing gentle kisses over your shoulder. His hand massages circles into your hip.
Unable to verbally notify him it was okay to move, you opt for using your hips as you push back against him. Getting the hint, his hips pull back slowly before pushing back in at the same agonizingly passive pace. Lips still pressing kisses to your soft skin, hips lazily snapping into you .
You whine, wanting more.
“Needy already,” he chuckles and places one last kiss to your flesh before standing to his full height. Both hands now resting on your hips, pulling you back so he can grind himself inside your spongy walls. “Remember, not a sound. Your family is out there.”
What a jackass, you can’t help but think as you glare back at him, that damn cocky smile on his lips. You open your mouth to retort but it quickly snaps shut as he pulls back and snaps back in. The action was so hard, you almost thought he’d speared straight into your stomach.
He slides out slowly again before plunging roughly back in. Filling you so completely, each hard impale burning pleasurably. Hands sliding to push your cheeks apart, he watches himself disappear between your folds as he sets a steady pace.
The sound of your sex gushing with each probe of his shaft makes you grow wetter. Slick running down the inside of your thighs, as he pushes it out of you, clit pulsing with each invasion.
It isn’t long before he angles his hips, in search of that spot he enjoys so much. It’s with one particular push that he finds it, as you lifted onto your toes and arched your back signaling him. A whine trapped behind teeth that bite down hard on your lips as he hits it again is all the confirmation he needs.
He sets about burrowing into you, head meeting that patch of spongy tissue over and over;building an inferno in the pit of your stomach with each visit. Your legs begin to tremble as you part your lips.
“H-harder, please,” you quietly moan, almost breathless, trying to keep your volume down.
“Whatever my baby wants, she gets.” His thrusts turn piercing. Hips smacking into yours hard, hands gripping you bruisingly hard. Over the smacks of your hips that filled the room, you can hear him groan softly with each shove. It made you clench around him, causing his hips to stutter briefly before returning to their bruising pace.
“Your pussy is so hot and wet. You're soaking my thighs baby,” he groans out, smacking into you harder. “Squeezing me so tight, begging me to fuck you harder.”
A smack to your behind pulls a yelp from you. Panicking, you bring a hand to cover your mouth, hoping no one heard that. Worry niggling at you again before it’s promptly fucked right out of you by Jin's hips speeding up their brutal pace.
“I wish I could hear you baby,” he rasps, sounding just as breathless as you are. “I want to hear you moan for me… begging to cum… I want to hear you scream my name.”
You feel the bed dip beside you, as he places a foot down. Elevating his leg, he creates a new angle to spear your core. Hands finding purchase above your hips, he anchors his hold, hips pulled back.
“Remember… we don't want to get found out.”
With those words he pushes into you quickly and roughly. Each thrust drags you to and fro on the bed, rubbing your nipples raw against the material. His hips unrelenting in their assault of you. Pistoning deep, making sure to brush your g-spot with each insertion.
His actions have you crying into the comforter, as it catches and cushions your cries, groans and mantras of his name. Hands clenching the material so tight, your fingers were going numb. You wanted to fuck back into him, but his tight grip on you and his brutal pace allowed no room to.
“Fuck your so good to me. Your pussy is so perfect. So tight and warm. And it's. Only. Mine.” Accentuating each word with a sharp thrust. Laying his full claim to your core.
Fingers wrapping in your tangled strands, he guides you to stand, back leaning against his chest as the other hand grips your throat, fingers pressing down on your pressure points. The pressure fueling the fire of your impending orgasm, as the new angle only adds fuel to the already roaring wildfire.
“Who does your cunt belong to?” he growls into your ear.
You hardly breath, nevermind gracing him with an answer. But as he adds pressure to your throat, you gasp out, “You.”
“That’s right,” he moans, self-satisfied, slowing his pace to grind into you slow and deep. “Mine. Only mine to ruin. Only mine to paint with my cum.”
His words hit you hard, as you clench hard around him, groaning in sync with him as waves pulse through you. You were so close, you knew he could tell as the fingers previously tangled in your hair, now pressed circles into the bundle of nerves buried in your folds.
You throw your head back, gasps of air leaving your parted lips. Your nails dig into the sweaty flesh of his thighs, hips bucking back into his. You try your hardest to not be too loud, as your face twists into nothing but pure pleasure.
You were so close, so close you were quietly pleading Jin to cum. His name becomes a prayer on your lips, that fuels his own need. The sound of his name desperately falling from your lips makes him almost feral in the way he fucks you. Plunging into you so hard and fast, that the unmistakable sounds of flesh slapping flesh could be heard through the room, the sound accompanied by the filthy sounds of your dripping arousal.
A guttural moan leaves your lips, as he pinches your bud, which he promptly cuts off by slotting his mouth over yours. Kissing you greedly, wanting to swallow every wanton sound.
The next moment, a fire spreads through your veins, as your whole body seizes at the arrival of your orgasm. Loud moans of pleasure, swallowed as promised by Jin's mouth as he kisses you sloppily. Your hips buck into his digits as they continue to stimulate your nub.
Jin’s hips continue to push through your ever tightening walls and begin to stutter in their assault, just before he pushes deep inside as you feel him paint your walls. Now it’s your turn to ingest all the sounds of his orgasm. The hand around your throat tightens, making you light headed with pleasure, as his other hand over stimulates your nub, thighs tightening to stop him.
Milking himself dry, he soon slows down and comes to a complete stop. Pulling your lips apart, a string of saliva keeps your bruised lips connected. The grip around your hips sustains your standing position, as your legs feel weak post orgasm.
Jin’s ever softening length, slips out of you making you both shiver. Gentle as he could be, he guides you to take a seat on the bed.
“Are you okay? Did I hurt you at all?” He looks you over, checking for any bruises from his manhandling.
This is what made him such an amazing lover. How caring he is about his partner after making love to them. It was always so fascinating to see him turn from domineering to self-effacing. Always taking care to ask how you felt after, soothing any places he may have gone too far and holding you gently in his arms.
It simply warms your heart, as you smile up at his broad shouldered form standing before you. Placing a hand over the one he’d placed on your cheek and giving it a reassuring squeeze, you say, “I’m fine, Jin. I always am when I'm with you,”
He beams down at you just before he places a kiss lovingly on your forehead. Thumb caressing your cheek, resting his forehead against yours. A warmth radiating from his eyes as he traps you in his gaze.
“I love you.”
Your heart skips a beat at the words said so simply, stomach a buzz with a storm of bees. You would never tire of hearing him say them to you, always feeling like the first time he’d confessed the depth of his feelings.
“I love you more,” you return, biting your lip giddily.
A smile reaches his eyes, as he grins widely. His cheeks puff up, giving him the look of an adorable squirrel storing acorns. His lips press to yours, no movement necessary. Just a simple press, feeling more intimate than what you had previously been engaged in.
He pulls back with a questioning look in his eyes, when he feels you shiver, almost spilling from his lips before you speak.
“Sorry, um just felt it slipping out of me,” you murmur, embarrassed, eyes not meeting his.
He chuckles, wide shoulders shaking in his mirth. Kissing you again he mutters, “You’re so cute sometimes.”
Slipping an arm around your back and one beneath your knees, he lifts you effortlessly. You wrap your arms around his neck, looking at him in confusion. He ignores your inquisitive eyes, making his way to the door he’d left not long before that led to your en suite bathroom.
“I think we should take a shower.”
“You just had a shower.”
“Yes, but after working up a sweat I need another, and together we can help preserve water.”
You roll your eyes, skeptical of him. “Sure, but no funny business!”
“No promises.”
You disappear into the bathroom with you protesting and Jin laughing.
Tumblr media
You had been back home for a couple of days, and it had been enjoyable to say the least. Getting settled in, introducing Jin to more of your family that stopped by when they heard about your return, catching up with the extended family, and even some of your friends who still lived in town.
Jin seemed happy to be able to relax, your family welcoming him completely. He had admitted to you how much he appreciated being welcomed with open arms. He loved how large your family was, and the affection they shared so easily, compared to his small family of just his parents and himself.
You knew he also loved that they ate up his terrible jokes like hotcakes. Not to mention how your mother seemed to love cooking him meals, always blushing when he praised the meals and asking for seconds. It was also obvious how much your family stroked his ego when they complimented his looks. You knew this would be bad once the time came for you to go back to your shared home, ego so inflated you weren’t sure you’d be able to fit in the car with him. But you’d be lying if you said you weren’t content at how things had turned out.
You had only gone out once since arriving, taking a stroll through the new town center, hands held in his as he listened attentively to you recount tales of your childhood. Every so often you’d stop and point out a location, describing what once took up residence in the spot of a newly erected business or apartment complex. You had stayed out till the sun had begun to make its descent, ice creams in hand as you walked back to your home.
It was that same evening upon returning home to have dinner with your family—filling your family in on your adventures—that your mother informed you about the state of your favorite place growing up. Feeling your heart drop, as she described it in more detail. When you had made your way to your room afterwards, Jin had stopped you and asked you if you wanted to visit the location. After hearing your mother’s disheartening news you weren’t sure, but Jin simply encouraged you to go see it with your own eyes.
That’s how you now found yourself tripping over a root as you trekked through the small forest not far from your parent’s home. A large hand steadying you before you eat dirt, you murmur a thank you before continuing on your way. It’s not long before you reach a clearing, that only cements your mother’s words as true. Your sad eyes survey the once beautiful lake, now nothing but a public garbage disposal. The water was murky, filled with so much debris and garbage it looked like sludge. The land surrounding the water was no better. The once pristine swimming hole was now a small landfill.
Placing a hand on your shoulder, you feel Jin give you a comforting squeeze. You rest your hand over his, intertwining your fingers, you sigh defeatedly, turning to bury your face in his chest. Wrapping his arms around you, he kisses the crown of your head and lays his cheek on it. The two of you bathe in the silence, all signs of forest life now muted in the wake of the destruction of their home. You doubted anyone even still lived here, the land so completely uninhabitable.
“This place used to be so beautiful,” you muse dejectedly, laying your cheek over his heart. “So full of life…”
Jin glides his fingers through your hair, listening closely.
“As a kid, I used to think this was the secret home of a fairy kingdom. Where a kind prince ruled over his subjects with a gentle fist. Adding color, and brilliance to nature here. At least, that’s the story my mother would tell,” you regale him, hands clutching his thin shirt.
“When she would bring my siblings and I here, and the water shimmered so beautifully, she’d say it was the fairy prince welcoming us to play in his kingdom. And when we’d visit in the evening once the sun had dipped down, balls of blinking lights dancing through the cool air, she’d say they were the fairies dancing in glee at our visit.”
You could feel tears form behind your lash line, tilting your head up as to not let them fall. You feel childish speaking of fairy tales to your fiancé, growing upset to the point you’re about to cry over it. Yet you couldn’t help yourself. This place was such a large part of your childhood, and if you were honest with yourself, it was the place you had been most anxious to visit. To see it destroyed to this degree broke your heart.
Sensing the dive in your emotions, Jin pulls back, taking your face in his hands, eyes roaming over your face in sympathy. “Don’t cry, sweetheart. Maybe we can do something.”
You tilt your head, wondering what he could mean. Blinking up at him, wet lashes sticking together. “What do you mean?”
Placidly smiling down at you, his thumb wipes away the stray tears beneath your eyes. “I don’t know, maybe we could try to clean up. Try to restore it to its former glory,” he shrugs, shoving his hands in his pockets, eyes sweeping the clearing.
You stupidly blink at him, mouth slightly ajar. Your heart begins to swell with so much affection that it feels as if it could pop out of your chest. The waterworks come back full force, lips trembling with emotion.
Noticing your silence he glances back to you, eyes widening with panic, hands hovering in front of him in uncertainty. “Sweetheart, what’s wrong? Was it something I said?”
Shaking your head, you throw your arms around him. Burrowing your face into his neck, standing on your tiptoes. “I love you so much,” you tearfully declare.
He returns your hold, lifting you up, an affectionate smile pulling at his plump lips. “What’s all this for, you big softie?” he teasingly murmurs.
“I just… I just feel so lucky to be with you.” You can’t help the emotions pouring out of you, unable to keep them inside when it comes to him. You weren’t sure what you had done in this life to deserve him, but you swore to whatever entity was out there that you would prove yourself worthy of him. For all the days you were gifted with being by his side, you would be the best partner possible.
“Well you are pretty blessed to look upon this handsome face every day.”
You smack his arm, body shaking with restrained laughter. “You’re incorrigible!” you exclaim, barely containing the joy glowing on your face.
Windshield wiper screeches fill the air, as he backs away from you rubbing at the spot you’d hit. His laugh was something uniquely him that always called attention. No matter whether you found it odd, or not, it always made you join him. It was a trait you found completely endearing.
Your laughs begin to quiet, a few residual chuckles escaping you. You look at each other, affection and mirth mirroring one another.
“Did you really mean it?”
He hums questioningly, raising his brows.
“About trying to clean up here?”
“Of course, I do,” he nods. “We’ve still got a few more days left here. We can go buy industrial trash bags, maybe some equipment to help us pick up the garbage, and we’ll definitely need some protection,” he continues to list off.
A smile growing on your own lips, you hug his arm, squirming against him excitedly. “Okay! Let’s do it!”
“Yeah?” he questions, amused at your behavior. You nod enthusiastically and chuckle, beginning to walk off. “Well, what are we waiting for? No time like the present right?”
You agree, a pep to your step excitedly discussing the possibility of hopefully saving a part of your childhood.

“It’s so hot!” you whine, stretching your aching back as you wipe the sweat from your forehead. You roll your neck, trying to loosen your tense muscles from being hunched over with the trash pick-up stick.
Since your first visit to the Fae Kingdom, which you had taken to calling it affectionately, you had spent the last few days clearing the area around the body of sludge. It was hard labor and the two of you always arrived home sorely exhausted, passing out as soon as your bodies hit the bed. On a couple of occasions, your siblings joined you carrying some of the workload.
Thanks to their help and the determination to see things through, you were actually able to now see the floor of the hidden glade. There wasn’t much trash left, so you were currently taking care of what was left while Jin was using a pool skimmer to collect the junk in the lake.
It was a particularly sunny, and humid day. The air felt incredibly thick with moisture, making it a bit harder to breathe. Not to mention how you were sweating buckets. You had both shed some layers, hating how uncomfortable it felt to have the fabric sticking to your skin.
After complaining about the heat, you toss your stick on the ground, making your way over to a small blanket you laid out to take breaks. Lowering onto your knees, you grab a bottle of water and take a generous gulp. The cool liquid soothes your rising body temperature. Capping the bottle, you roll it on your forehead, trying to cool yourself down.
Rolling back on your knees, you land with a soft thud on your behind, enjoying the shade the tall trees provided. Taking a deep breath, you release it slowly before choking on it. Coughing violently, as your eyes almost bug out of your head.
Standing about ten feet in front of you, by the edge of the water was a broad shouldered god. Muscles flexing beneath lightly sun kissed skin, beads of sweat rolling down his back, burly arms bulging with each bend as he lifts the skimmer out of the water.
How in the hell was this herculean man real?
You sigh in awe, before looking up, hands clasped together as you whisper a thank you up above.
“What are you doing?”
You jump as his voice breaks the quiet atmosphere. Your eyes hastily fall on him as you reply in a high pitch, “Nothing!” Your cheeks begin to warm, staining with embarrassment.
His brows pinch, not fully believing you. Shaking his head, he turns to shake the skimmer into a large black bag. Setting it to the side, he swipes sweat off his brow. He turns and makes his way to you, pulling the work gloves off his large hands, stuffing them in the back pocket of his dark jeans. Coming to a stop at the edge of the blanket, he crouches down reaching his hand out for a drink.
Leaning back, you pull a cool bottle out of the cooler and hand it to him. You watch as he takes a large swig, before swiftly emptying the rest over his head. Brushing his hair back, his dark eyes rest on you. One corner of his plush lips pulls up at the unhidden admiration on your face.
“Come here.” He crooks a finger, signalling you closer.
You blink, lifting up and shuffling on your knees over to him. His hand locks behind your neck pulling you in to steal a kiss, lips brushing yours affectionately. One of your hands finds purchase on a burly shoulder to steady yourself. He pulls back, placing a succession of quick pecks over your pouting lips, pulling giggles out of you.
“I’m sorry. I suddenly realized I hadn't kissed the most beautiful woman today. It had to be quickly amended.”
A large grin breaks over your face at his cheesy words.
“You’re such a charmer, Mr. Kim.”
His eyes flash, tongue swiping over his thick lower lip. “Am I? Does that mean I can charm you out of these?” he teases, fingers tugging at your shorts.
You swallow hard, painfully aware of the  warm thrum between your thighs. Biting your lip, a protest on the tip of your tongue threatens to expose the unabashed yearning of your heat.
Before you can utter a word, his lips are yours again. The hand behind your neck pulls you closer as he leans over you. A hand on your waist guides you to lie on the blanketed ground, his knee nudging your legs apart to settle between them comfortably. He kisses you languishly, hand releasing your soft strands and sliding to your cheek as he rests his weight on the arm placed by your head. Hips grinding in lazy circles against your mound, drawing a quiet moan.
Suffice to say all thoughts of the heat are replaced by a different kind of heat as your hands slide up the plane of muscles you had been admiring not long ago. You feel every flex of his back as his hips continue their languorous movements. You bend your knees, widening the space for him invitingly.
It’s as his hand descends to take hold of your left breast that you hear something in the distance. You ignore it thinking maybe it was a rustling branch or bush. Giving your breast a squeeze, Jin spreads even more heat to your core, and just as you’re about to groan your breath hitches as the sounds are closer this time.
“Jin! Sis! Are you guys here?”
Your eyes bug open, staring into Jin's equally stunned gaze before you both spring apart. A tangle of limbs, wrestling to separate from each other. It’s when you’re finally sitting in your own personal spaces that you notice a hitch in your situation. Jin’s erection was pitching a lovely tent in his semi loose jeans. His hands covered it, a pained look on his face as he cursed. Hearing the crunch of leaves close by springs you into action just as your siblings walk out of the tree line.
“Oh there you guys are,” the oldest declares, pointing you out to the others.
You smile over at them innocently from your position between Jin's legs, back resting against his naked chest, his arms resting around your waist. You both wave at them, thanking powers at be for the humidity today helping to disguise your flushed skin.
“Oh, hey! We didn’t know you guys were coming by today.” Jin greets nonchalantly, raising an arm to wave at them.
“Well,” the youngest speaks up this time, hand rubbing the back of their neck, ”we weren’t going to but when we realized what the weather was like out, we couldn’t let you guys deal with it all alone.”
You can’t help but smile at them in appreciation. “Thank you guys, you really didn’t have to.”
“This is our waterhole, we have to help too,” your middle sibling declares, pounding a fist into their chest dramatically.
You roll your eyes as they grin at you.
“Well let’s get to it, fam!” cheers the youngest.
“We’ll join you in a moment, just taking a short break,” you inform them.
“No worries, take your time. This heat is no joke.” They wave you off as they set up their equipment and bags.
You realise a sigh, reiterating your thanks as they go about cleaning. You watch them a moment before twisting your head to the side. “You wanna get a hold on yourself now?” you hiss over your shoulder. Jin’s prominent erection poking at your back, showing no signs of deflating any time soon.
He wraps his arms around you pulling closer. “I can’t help it, not when that perfect ass keeps pushing back on me.” he whispers into your ear. “And did you know your shoulders turn me on too? They’re so perfect for grabbing onto when I fuck into you from be-”
A yelp of pain gets your sibling’s attention, heads swiveling to look over you guys. Jin folded over, hand clutching at his right side where you’d elbowed him.
“He’s got a stitch in his side from cleaning out the lake. Sorry to scare you guys,” you give as an explanation, waving off their concerned gazes. Feeling bad, your oldest sibling decides to take over lake duty, telling you guys to take your time resting.
You nod gratefully, before turning your attention back to the frustratingly handsome man behind you. “Get a hold of yourself! Or you won’t be touching me for the next week!”
He looks at you in indignation, sputtering to find a response. “You can’t do that! We leave in a few days! We can finally go back to loud unfiltered sex!”
You twist around and smack a hand over his mouth. “I’m not kidding! Get it together, my siblings are here,” your eyes blazing with intent.
He removes your hand as he clears his throat. A playful glint in his eyes before he opens his obnoxious mouth. “You know you’re hot when you’re angry?” he manages before breaking out into his signature high pitched laugh.
Face flushing in annoyance, you smack his bare arm. “Fine! Good luck hiding it on your own!” you fume, leaning forward to push yourself up.
You don’t get far, as he cages you quickly with his arms, pulling you back against him, a panicked no permeating the humid air. You huff, as you feel the wind almost knock out of you at the force he uses to pull you back into place.
“Well are you gonna behave?” an unsaid ultimatum weaved into the question.
“Ah! It’s not my fault you’re so attractive! How can you blame me like this!” he continues to whine, like a petulant child not allowed to play with their favorite toy.
The pair of you continue to bicker, as your siblings slave away in restoring the clearing. It’s not long before they grow hot, exhausted by the muggy air engulfing them. Their patience and kindness waning, complaints for you both to hurry and join them—which you promptly do, with bottles of water in hand to help them cool down. Your small group makes quick work of the left over trash, as Jin takes care of what’s left in the lake.
The sun was just beginning it’s descent, stars just barely dotting across the darkening sky, when your small rag tag group finally finished; spent bodies leaning on each other, as weary eyes surveyed your hard work. It wasn’t what it once was, but it looked damn well on its way there and you couldn’t help the happy tears that brimmed your waterline. The arm around your shoulder gives you a quick squeeze, Jin's voice filling the air thanking everyone for their hard work.
The evening chill that cools your sweat soaked layers has the small group shivering. Giving the place one last sweep, you all agree to high tail it back for much needed showers and rest.
Tomorrow would be your last full day there and you wanted to make sure of one last thing. You would be trying to find a way to purify the lake water. You had been doing research and had read about techniques aiming to bring a lake back to or closer to man-made undisturbed conditions. You had found a lake restoration company not far outside of the town. Jin had already agreed to accompany you, willing to help in any way possible as you brought it up before going to bed that night. You had happily accepted, beholden by the revival of the Fae Kingdom.
Tumblr media
The night was comfortably warm, filled with happy chatter in the beautiful glade. Fairy lights lit the area in a soft glow as many visitors sat around the lake, eating meals they had just pulled off grills or brought with them from home. Small clusters of families or couples relaxed after a day of fun and thrills.
Somewhere someone had brought a speaker, a soft pop melody permeating the air, as you quietly sing along to it, swaying in your fiance’s arms, his own angelic voice serenading you. Your family surrounded you, their loud boisterous laughs bringing you joy and comfort.
It had been a year since your visit, a year of the lake restoration working its magic. A year of love and care for the watering hole, which was almost a mirror of its former glory. Beautiful shades of green once more filling in patches of the ground, all the colors of the rainbow blooming, giving the space vibrance and life. There were signs of life all around you as creatures began to inhabit the area once more.
But the most amazing part is being able to witness the breathtaking globes of light that dance before your eyes. Soft, blinking lights that waltz around, unbothered by the visitors. The fairies had returned, they had come back home to their kingdom.
“They’re happy.”
“Huh,” you ask dumbly, breaking out of your reverie.
“The fairies, they’re happy to see you,” he voices.
A tender smile rests on his lips when you turn to him. He remembered. The childish story you had told him. And it’s in that moment, with blinking lights reflecting around him that you come to a realization.
“You’re the fairy prince. Well, you’re my real fairy prince,” you admit quietly.
He looks down at you, eyes searching yours before placing a kiss on the tip of your nose and pulling your back flush against him.
“I guess that makes you the future princess of the Fae Kingdom.”
You cling to his arms happily, taking in the gorgeous scenery before you.
“Besides, it only makes sense that someone as good looking as me is royalty.”
“And there goes the moment,” you grumble as you leave the safe space of his arms to join your family in their merriment.
“Hey! You know it’s true!” he exclaims, chasing after you, accompanied by a squeaking laugh.

Side-note: The main ship in this series is fluff LAMP. Janus is seen as a guardian figure to the other sides and is therefore not shipped with any of them. All sides are the same age, but their maturity varied in the past.
It was night when Virgil started making his way out of the window from his room, sneaking past Logan’s surveillance drones, and into the surrounding woods. Two weeks had gone by of them discussing, or more like arguing over which of the remaining destabilized giants to go after. Obviously, Roman wanted to save his brother as soon as possible! On top of that Logan supported his wishes based purely on the fact that Remus was closest to breaking apart.
However, Virgil wanted to go for Janus instead. He was the first to destabilize so Virgil thought it only fair and Patton agreed with him. Saying he’d suffered enough of not being able to remember his family for the past years. Yet, there was another reason the anxious side wanted to save him first...Janus’s destabilization had been Virgil’s fault. He was the one who started it and He had to be the first to end it!
A surprise was waiting for Virgil though, a note stuck to the outside window instructing him to come to the cave on the West side, signed Janus. The timing was uncanny as he stuffed it into his hoodie pocket. Virgil was now alone in the woods making haste towards the obvious trap awaiting him.
Unfortunately, Patton’s sixth sense for tomfoolery kicked in as he suddenly woke up. Roman was snoring, Logan listening to his recorded tapes on scientific studies, and Virgil...nothing. Okay, that’s weird. Usually his Stormcloud liked to fall asleep to the sound of rain or ocean waves. Pat turned the knob to find it unlocked and then to find no Virgil sleeping within. “Oh kiddo.” He whispered, full of disappointment. He flew to the alarm and pressed the button to wake up the others.
“Holy! What, what is it?!”
“Ah! What time is it? Who hit the alarm?”
Patton stood in the hall with his arms crossed in full Dad mode.
“Virgil’s gone.”
“He’s WHAT?!”
“You have got to be kidding me. H-he didn’t...you know?”
Patton nodded. There was no way it could be anything else. “He’s gone to meet with Janus.”
“Are you sure?”
Just then Pat held up a crinkled note. It was the one Virgil thought he stuffed into his pocket, but it fell out while he climbed out the window. Pretty much Virge had made a lot of mistakes despite thinking he was being careful.
“Shit. I’ll get my gear on.” Roman ran back into his room and Logan followed suit. There was no telling how long it’d been since Virgil had left. They needed to hurry.
---------------- Many Years Ago in the Mindscape
“Big bro Jan Jan!” Janus turned around to find himself being tackled by a slightly shorter side.
“Woah! Hey Virgil!” He smiled sweetly. “Be careful running around like that. What if you got hurt?” Virgie only giggled, “You’re such a worrywart Big bro Janus!”
“Well, that is true, I am Protectiveness after-all. I’m here to make sure we stay safe and can protect Thomas when he needs us.” He said as he took Virgil’s hand. “I’m also here as your all’s caretaker my little ball of Curiosity!”
The two used to be so close, just like brothers. Janus was always kind and stoic as he taught and cared for Virgil. He did the same for the other sides as well, since he was the most developed. Morality and Creativity being a little more mature than Virgil, as they all played together. To all of them Janus was like a guardian, despite all being the same age, and they loved him as such, but that did put a lot of pressure on the protective side.
One night, that pressure finally caused him to break. It was late when a strange sound caught his ear. “What was that?” He wondered, getting up from his bed to look down the hall. No one; still there was a slight breeze lingering below his feet. Is a window open or something? A sense of panic started setting in as he ran out to check on the others. Morality? He was sleeping while hugging one of many plushies. Then was Creativity okay? Yep, mumbling to himself about some dream. The last to check on was Curiosity...gone.
The window on the back wall was wide open as the cool night air taunted Janus’s paled face. “Virgil! Virgil, where are you? Please, please come here if you can hear me!” Where had he gone? Jan was trying hard to listen to any odd sounds around him, but the heart beat in his chest kept pounding. His eyes watery, ears ringing, why was this happening? Why did Virgil go outside when he’d been told to never leave the house without him? The stress had been building inside Janus for a while now.
His natural need to protect was eating away at him as the pressure grew. The pressure to be the perfect big brother Virgil idolized him for. The pressure to protect his family, protect Thomas, always be there, listen to their problems, and on and on! What about him? Didn’t he matter just as much? When was someone going to protect him, listen to HIM!
“No one ever really listens.” He grumbled.
*SNAP*
Quickly, Janus turned his head around in the direction of the sound. Running at full speed until he saw Virgil on his knees on the cliffside. What was he doing? “Virgil!” He shouted.
Virgil turned to look at his panicked friend and smiled as he started to get up. Waving his hand around like he hadn’t a care in the world...and that’s when it happened. A strong gust of wind hit, causing the curious side to topple over and begin rolling off the cliff. “NO!”
Without any hesitation Janus jumped down and curled himself around Virgil to protect him as they both fell off the side. This was it; Janus was going to break apart any minute now. He was going to disappear forever. It wasn’t fair...he didn’t deserve this! It was all Virgil’s fault for going out at night, for not listening to his warnings about staying out of trouble. He’d given up so much to care for him, for ALL of them. At that moment something snapped inside of Janus as his body started to grow in size.
He easily filled the space below of the ravine he had moments ago been falling into. The heat and pain was so intense that he fainted, with a tiny Virgil still lying safely under his hand. An hour rolled by, before Virgil stirred awake and began taking in his surroundings. Yellow, warm, and soft? What had he landed on exactly and how was he perfectly okay? From what he could remember he had found a big hole in the Earth and was curious as to what was inside it. Then...he fell into it somehow? The now very confused side held his head as a distant, but familiar voice rang out in his head. Only to then be cut-off by the ground underneath him beginning to move.
“What the…”
He trailed off as his eyes wondered upwards to see a giant with hazy eyes looking down at him. OH SHIT! In a panic, Virgil slid down the side of the giant to hide behind some of the fallen rocks.
Tumblr media
 He clasped his hands over his mouth and started counting down in his head to control his breathing. While the giant rubbed his eyes, none the wiser to Virgil’s stealthy escape.
“Where am I?” He groaned, working his way up to look around. “Some kind of ravine? Whatever, for now all I have is myself and that’s all I need.” Janus smirked as he walked away with a hum. Curiosity, now not so curious making sure the giant was gone before he made his way out and back home. All the while thinking how familiar the giant’s voice was.
--------------- Back to Current Time
Finally, he was here. The West side caves that Janus was hiding out in and enjoying his freedom ever since he destabilized. Virgil’s nerves started to wear on him as to what this slippery snake had planned for him. Had Jan started to remember his past now that the others' memories were coming back? Or was something else completely different going on?
“Aaaaaahhhhhh” A long groan came from inside, followed by a hiss of pain. The ground shook violently, but Virgil managed to make his way inside. The sounds of discomfort vibrating off the walls until he reached a large opening covered in lights. The interior was quite cozy for a cave. Leave it to Janus to make any location a perfect hide away. “You’re here!”
The greeting snapped Virgil out of his daze and back to the situation at hand. He’d refrained from increasing his size because he hadn’t come for a fight. “Deceit. Why did you call me here?” Virgil lacked information. He needed to see what Jan knew...what he remembered.
Janus bared his fangs with a toothy grin as he picked up his little guest. Luckily, no squeezing this time around. “Oh my dear little Virgil. Why do you think I called you here? I know you’re the one doing this to me.” This? What was he on about? “What do you mean?”
Tumblr media
The smile vanished as his grip tightened around Virgil making it hard to breath. “Ah...stop please...Janus.” Suddenly, relief as the hand holding him relaxed. “That! Why are you calling me that?”
Virgil was still dazed from the lack of oxygen. He began wiggling his way out of the giant’s hand and rapidly began increasing his own size to match Jan’s. “You mean Janus. That’s your name.”
“No, no, no! My name is Deceit!” He banged his hand against the cavern wall as tiny items on shelves fell to the floor with a crash. “I don’t know who you think I am, but this is who I am!”
“No, that’s not true. Your name is Janus and you’re one of us. A side...a light side. There is no dark side Jan. Just you and me, and…and your family.”
“Family? Hahaha, what family? You LEFT ME! Remus left me. Everyone’s left...me.” The now sobbing Janus fell to his knees and wailed at the pain of past and present memories colliding inside his broken mind. “I don’t want to be alone anymore.” “And you don’t have to be Jan Jan.” Warm hands, familiar hands embraced him in a welcoming hug as he continued to weep.
“I’ve been having these dreams. Where, we’re all together in one house. I’m looking after you all as your big brother. Are these memories?” “Yeah, they are.” “Why didn’t I remember before then?” “It’s my fault. I’m so sorry Jan Jan. I-I was too curious and you got hurt trying to save me. You destabilized and turned into this monster in order to protect me!”
Virgil softly cried into Janus’s shoulder as he held onto him tightly. Fearing he may disappear at any moment. “I remember now. Oh Virgil, it’s alright. I forgave you a long time ago somewhere deep in my heart.” “R-really?!” Janus smiled and helped wipe away Virgil’s tears as they both stood back up. “I think it’s time I go back home to my family.”
Right as the two of them started to leave the caves the trio of fashionably late heroes appears on the scene. “Virgil! Oh my gosh Sweetpea are you okay?”
The exhausted giant waved down to his friends to show he was well and good. “Stand back from that scaly fiend!” “Roman, it’s okay. He’s started to remember.” “Remember? Do you mean to say he’s begun restabilizing?” Logan perked up curiously. “Yeah, though he’s not running a fever yet so I’m not sure when the process will st-”
Just then a hot wave started to bubble up inside of Virgil as he toppled over in pain. His face sweaty and pale. Janus was confused until he noticed himself shrinking. “What is this?!”
Between gritted teeth, “You all need to get away from here. I’m not completely sure what’s happening but I know it’s dangerous to be near me right now!” The group didn’t ask questions, they trusted Virgil’s judgement as they made their way quickly down the mountain. Meanwhile, Janus was shrinking fast and Virgil was crying out in extreme pain as his body grew rapidly. Soon he had reached his maximum height of 1000 feet, but he continued to grow. What was happening to him?
Once Janus had returned to the normal size of a human he too quickly got to somewhere safer than right next to a constantly growing giant. “Janus! How is Virgil? What’s going on?” “I’m sorry, I don’t know. I suppose if I had to guess he’s stolen my height and added it on to his own.” “He’s adding it on?” “Yes, but not in an exact manner. He’s already grown past 1000 feet, but adding mine on he would have stopped at 1070, but he hasn’t.” “How big is he going to get then?” Janus gulped as he looked back over to the mountain that Virgil’s new size was slowly consuming, “I have no idea.”
Virgil’s body now laid on top of the mountain as he could finally feel himself cooling off. More memories returning to him as his eyes focused onto his surroundings. He had grown to a whopping 5000 feet, nearly a mile high! Virgil quickly spotted the others not too far away as he reached down to grab them up. They were so small he needed to be extremely careful with them. Virgil then laid back against the mountain and smiled. He loved seeing more of his family together again.
Tumblr media
The others were mesmerized by his tremendous size. Roman and Patton were definitely blushing as they called out to him. “Are you feeling alright now Darling?” “Yeah, I feel amazing honestly. Usually, I’m really scared and anxious when I’m so big, but this just feels so right.”
They all knew how much Virgil enjoyed being big and they were happy to see him comfortable, still they had to wonder why this happened.
“Do you have any idea why this happened to you Stormcloud?” Virgil shook his head. He had no clue. “All I can say is that it was similar to the fever I had before, but it happened a lot quicker, so the pain was more intense.” “Then perhaps Janus’s restabilization was a catalyst of sorts.” “A catalyst?” “A substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change.” “Seriously Logan, not really the time for a chemistry lesson.” “True, but I think a secondary definition is in order. A catalyst can be a person or thing that precipitates an event. The person being Janus and the event being the increased growth of Virgil.” “Well, besides all the science talk...what does that actually help us understand?” “I’d need to do some tests and get more data, but my starting hypothesis is that somehow Virgil and his new stable form is linked to those who remain destabilized. That chaotic energy inside the body of someone unstable needs to go somewhere and I believe Virgil’s body has adapted in a way that allows him to absorb it. Thus his increase in stature.” “So he eats crazy energy?” “....yes Patton, Virgil now eats crazy energy.”
That was cool! Either way, that was one giant down and one to go. Although, for now it was time to head on home. There Virgil and Janus could both rest and in the morning he’d get an earful from Logan and Patton on protocol and house rules for him running away after finding a note from a crazy giant serpent man. Still, a good ending for now.

Aaaand that's a wrap! Thank you to everyone that took the time to follow this story through to the end! I hope y'all enjoyed the Guest's origins and overall tomfoolery, and Hwa Pyeong's incredibly gay important choice. I am, unfortunately, still hyperfixated on this show, so I may or may not vomit some more stories down the line, but for now, this is the end of my interpretation of how season two of The Guest would have gone down.
And as always, if you enjoyed the tale, don't hesitate to leave a review! (~˘▾˘)~

i’m not calling you a liar - epilogue
read on ao3
prologue | one | two | three | four | five | epilogue  ||  sequel
Summary: Five times Janus apologized to the other sides and one time he didn’t.
Warnings: None (Please let me know if there is something I should add as warning)
[epilogue - janus] sighs in my sleep
Finally alone and finished with his day, Janus walked into his room and shut the door behind him. He took off his ever-present hat, hung it on the stand next to the entrance, and took a step.
He felt a tug in his chest. Someone was trying to summon him.
He ignored it. He'd had a long day trying to set things up and smooth things over with the others, and just wanted to fall into bed and sleep forever. He took another step.
Then there was another tug, more insistent this time. Janus sighed. It looked like he wouldn't be getting to sleep quite yet.
He was hoping this day would be long in coming. He wasn’t nearly prepared for it at all. But his plans never did work out quite how he ever wanted them to, did they?
He followed the summons, allowing it to pull him to his destination. He couldn't help but give a bitter scoff at the ease and welcome he now received when he appeared in Thomas' reality, compared to all the tomfoolery he'd gone through to get there in the first place.
They were alone. Just him and Thomas. What Janus wouldn't have given for such a chance to have Thomas’ ear, earlier on. But what had happened, happened, and there was nothing to do but pick up the pieces and move forward. Janus could at least be proud that Thomas and the others were finally taking better care of themselves.
“Janus?” Thomas’ voice was soft, sweet. Janus could hear the gentle smile in it. He shut his eyes to savor the moment, taking the moment to compose himself.
“You called?” he answered, meeting Thomas’ gaze with a neutral look of his own.
Thomas gave him a sheepish grin. “So, I, uh, I heard you were going around trying to apologize and make up with everyone.”
Here it came. “And I suppose you were wondering when your turn would be?”
That seemed to take him by surprise. “What? Oh, no, not at all!”
Janus blinked. “…No?”
“Well, not really. I don’t even know what you’d apologize to me for that you haven’t already. I mean, that would just be me apologizing to myself. Again. Since you’re, you know. All me. And you’re all doing your jobs the best you can to help me get through life.”
“If you didn’t want an apology, why am I here?”
“I wanted to say that I’m proud of you.”
Again, Janus blinked. He couldn’t have heard that correctly. “What?”
A slight chuckle emanated from Thomas, clearly gleeful that he’d caught Janus off-guard for once. “When I first met you, I wouldn’t say I could imagine you ever apologizing to any of the others. But here we are. And… I’m glad. You’ve come a long way.” He sighed wistfully. “We all have.”
Oh. Oh, Thomas. Silly, optimistic Thomas. He really was too precious for this world.
“I learned a lot from you. From all of you. Like the fact that I can’t base all of my self-worth on what I can do for other people, or that I’m letting them down by not living up to my full potential. That it’s okay to slow down and reconsider where I am and where I’m going.”
"Those feelings are entirely valid. But you also can't spend your life standing still and watching everyone else pass you by, Thomas. Sometimes you need to go after what you want, even if it means leaving something or someone behind."
Thomas looked away, as if trying to hide his rueful expression. Hadn’t he learned by now that it was impossible to hide anything from the metaphysical embodiment of his denial? "And sometimes when there's two things I want but I can't have both, I have to make a choice."
Janus nodded. He couldn’t let it go at that. He had already left too many things unsaid to the others to do it to Thomas. “If I may?”
Thomas’ responding smile lit up his entire face. It warmed Janus’ entire being. “Of course! Go ahead.”
It was so easy now, to be listened to. To have his opinion heard and considered, and not dismissed out of hand.
In truth, it still hurt.
Still, Janus continued. “Thomas, I never prepared an apology for you because words do not suffice. The only thing I really can do is to prove my commitment to your well-being with my actions.”
Janus did not get the answer he was expecting. He didn’t receive condescension, or preaching, or veiled sarcasm. He got a genuine, warm smile.
“I know. It’s the best any of us can do. And we still have a lot to learn and do. Balancing what I want with what I need and what I feel like I should do isn’t going to be easy, but with your and everyone’s help…” Thomas shrugged. “I’ll get through it.”
Janus smiled at him. Thomas, the center of his existence. Thomas, for whom he would do anything.
“Janus?”
“Yes, Thomas?”
The sheer warmth of the grateful look on his face made Janus’ chest ache. “Thank you.”
Janus didn’t know what to say to that, so he said nothing, and bowed his head. He bade the man good night and sank back down into his room. Exhausted, he collapsed, fully clothed, onto his bed. He could think on things in the morning.
Whatever came next would be challenging, but it would be worth it.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
It’s time to return to the first game for case 5, The Unspeakable Story!
Episode 5: The Unspeakable Story – Part 1
Prepare yourselves, this is a big one! So big, even, that I'm going to have to split it into two parts. Fortunately, we can skip over the entire Investigation segment, because virtually none of it is relevant to Van Zieks. In fact, we don't even learn Van Zieks is the prosecutor until we enter the courtroom and see him standing there. Somehow, no one thought to ask who Ryu would be facing. What we do learn during the Investigation is confirmation that McGilded was indeed a lying scumbag who murdered Thrice-fired Mason. He asked Gina to lie for him in a court of law, too. So indeed, Ryu backed the wrong horse in The Runaway Room and Van Zieks was right to suspect the defense of deceit. He was wrong in how he worded half his arguments, though.
An extra thing worth noting is that after the conversation in which the blood is found on Gina's coat and the truth of McGilded comes out, it's revealed that Gregson was hiding nearby in the shadows. He insists he didn't eavesdrop and only just walked in, but it's implied much later in the trial that he knew about the blood on the coat. This means that Gregson is, from this point on, holding the full knowledge that McGilded was McGuilty in the omnibus murder.
So into the courtroom we go, where it is shown we're facing Van Zieks. (And nobody is surprised, because who else would it have been? Auchi?) It is now two months after the Runaway Room and the two Clouded Kokoro cases, so immediately upon starting the trial, the judge basically asks Van Zieks whether he's gone insane- in his own words, that is. First he asks how many years it's been since Van Zieks retired, to which Van Zieks replies that it's been five. The judge notes that Van Zieks resurfaced rather suddenly two months ago, (then basically handled three cases in a single week,) and showed up again today.
Tumblr media
HAH. I love how on the nose this judge is when it comes to dissing the prosecution. He goes on to state that Van Zieks used to deal exclusively in matters concerned with 'the highest echelons of society and government', yet today he's trying 'a simple case of burglary and murder'. We already learned this from Gregson in case 1-4, but it's nice to have it repeated again.
Van Zieks replies that there's two things he cannot abide: “Wealthy scoundrels who hide behind a mask of philanthropy-” (hi McGilded!) and... “Secondly- even more loathsome... Those wily scoundrels who masquerade as allies only to effect total betrayal in the final hour.”
Tumblr media
So that settles it then. He's specifically taken on his three most recent cases because there were Japanese people involved. He's also outright admitting that which Ryu had already guessed: Van Zieks hates Japanese people and going by his wording (“betrayal”, etc.) he has some bad experiences. Ryu wonders whether that 'torrid look of hatred' in Van Zieks's eyes is directed at him or at all Japanese people. Frankly, I think that in a subconscious sense, it's neither. The way I see it, that torrid look of hatred is directed at a man who died ten years ago. But I'll get back to this when it's time to address the backstory. The judge finds that an “alarmingly scathing explanation”, but welcomes the Reaper of the Bailey back to court all the same.
I love the implication that Van Zieks can apparently just come and go as he pleases in terms of prosecuting. Retirement can just be upturned on a whim and he's allowed to choose any case he wants. Who even is keeping him informed on which cases are happening and who the defense is? Is there a Chief Prosecutor in play we don't know about or is Stronghart slipping notes into his letterbox? Or has Van Zieks been entering the prosecutor's office every day for the past two months, demanding to hear news of 'that Nipponese attorney'?
So anyway, Van Zieks lays out the opening statement, pours himself a glass of wine, accuses Ryu of jumping to conclusions and reveals that he has witnesses. Remember when he threw aside his cloak halfway into 1-3 and it was seen as a big deal? … Yeah. It's not much anymore, now. He gets rid of it before the first witnesses have even taken the stand. The guys called forth are literal criminals who happened to break into the scene of the crime and, according to Van Zieks, “will face trial in the very near future” for their “various trespasses”. Alright, so he's acknowledging he's called forth some sketchy witnesses, but considers the murder itself far more sinister than their burglary.
Ryu manages to prove the taller Skulkin brother fired a gun at the crime scene and in doing so, struck poor innocent (S)Holmes. (Ryu presents a picture of a blood-stained calendar with a bullet in it to prove this, yet ten minutes later, he'll present the exact same picture and the entire court will act as if they'd never seen it before. Awkwaaard.) Van Zieks pours himself another glass of wine, toasts to Ryu's incompetence and later has another micro-aggression:
Tumblr media
Scumbag points! And also possibly hilarious foreshadowing if he's referring to either Asogi Sr. or Mikotoba here. Though it's hard to say how well acquainted Van Zieks was with (S)Holmes and his partner roughly 16 to 10 years ago. Anyway, Van Zieks flings another chalice and basically admits that he already knew these two criminals gunned down (S)Holmes, but made a deal with them not to get into that. Though technically, Ryu was the one who got into it by proving it in court, so Van Zieks didn't break any unscrupulous deals. And maybe he was even expecting Ryu to do so? Maybe that's why he was pushing Ryu to present evidence? Either way, Van Zieks now owes 'his Nipponese friend' a word of gratitude, since he helpfully confirmed the two brothers couldn't possibly have shot the victim. Only one bullet was fired from their pistol, after all, and if it hit (S)Holmes it couldn't possibly have killed Windibank.
Van Zieks proceeds to “take a moment to consider the aforementioned Great Detective, Mr. Sholmes” (KEEP THIS LINE IN MIND), and brings up the security cameras (S)Holmes planted at the pawnshop so that he can present a picture of the defendant waving a pistol at the victim. Why didn't he present this evidence immediately instead of asking two shady burglars to testify? Who even knows, man. He's being erratic, just as the judge said. The jurors have seen enough and vote guilty, so it's time for a Summation Examination! Van Zieks poured himself another glass of wine before Ryu even asserted his right to that, because he knew it was coming. He has to stand in silence and so he will drink.
Tumblr media
(Juror No 1, aka Mr. Garrideb, proceeds to piss me off by oggling the maid juror. I thought the whole point of this character was that his wife misunderstood and jumped to conclusions; that she's been punishing him wrongfully since he does indeed love her and will stand by her side no matter what, but apparently not.) Some tomfoolery later, we require the prosecution's help to prove stereoscopes are just as cool as wireless telegraphy.
Tumblr media
I honestly think it's hilarious that he's meant to stay silent but has broken that rule several times, so now we're taunting him by asking him a direct question during the Examination. So after it's been proven the two criminals moved some stuff around inside the pawnshop, four jurors vote not-guilty and the trial continues. The two witnesses get called back to the stand and---
Tumblr media Tumblr media
… Okay. So he definitely is against perjury. He seems to hate it, even. He apparently keeps giving them the evil eye as they testify, intimidating Ringo into telling the truth. But I just can't shake the memory of him feeding a lie to Shamspeare in Memoirs of the Clouded Kokoro. Also, the game very much caught me off guard during this testimony when I presented a piece of evidence which wasn't correct, but instead of leading to a penalty led me to a unique set of dialogue not found when presenting other wrong evidence. That is to say, I presented a picture of Gina holding the sole gun to disprove the testimony that both she and Windibank were wielding guns, which led to:
Tumblr media
Isn't that what we often do in these games? Van Zieks clearly hasn't been paying attention. Anyway, the judge points out that so long as I couldn't prove that Gina was still holding the only gun some time later, when Windibank was shot, the evidence wasn't relevant. So I had to present the picture of Windibank's body (not holding a gun) instead. Ryu manages to point out through that picture that the Skulkin brothers were lying and-
Tumblr media
OKAY OKAY. I GET IT. Van Zieks hates perjury with a burning passion and Memoirs of the Clouded Kokoro messed up. The trial continues on to the point where Ryu manages to suggest that the Skulkin brothers shot Windibank and Gina then locked the door to save herself. At first Van Zieks is shocked at the notion, but after Ryu details his logic, he just puts his hands down on the desk and chuckles.
Tumblr media
This is the first time we see something close to laughter from him, and it's not even really laughter. It's just a malicious, bitter little noise. In fact, we've never seen him smile. He's not even smiling now, as he cackles. That's a stark contrast from other prosecutors, who all smile/smirk as they gloat. Barok's facial expression barely changes at all. Are they building up to something? Anyway, the judge wonders why Van Zieks finds this amusing, as he found the argument quite persuasive himself. Van Zieks pours himself another glass of wine and says:
Tumblr media
“But such blatantly malicious conjuring tricks amount to nothing more than inexcusable pettifoggery here. Because you see, it contains a fatal flaw!”
Scumbag points! He then proceeds to imply all the members of the jury are too dimwitted to count (as he flings his chalice). Bullets, that is. There were two bullets found at the crime scene and there were two guns recovered, each having fired one bullet. So if the Skulkin brothers had shot (S)Holmes, they couldn't possibly have shot Windibank as well.
Tumblr media
Bye wine bottle, rip person sitting behind him. Van Zieks proceeds to slander Gina for being “far from a law-abiding citizen” and having “a past riddled with criminal misconduct”. To further illustrate his point, he presents a piece of evidence that the defendant attempted to steal the day beforehand, not with the subtlety of a pickpocket but by brute force and brazen impudence. Gregson loses it at this point, shouting out a loud “Hold it!” before losing his nerve and stammering his way through his protest. He mentions that there was a meeting with the prosecution service where it was agreed that piece of evidence wouldn't be used. Ryu is baffled and thinks this:
Tumblr media
And now I'm baffled as well, because thinking back on it... Yes, Gregson has talked about Van Zieks before in Investigation segments and has been called in to testify, but as far as I can recall, he hasn't ever addressed Van Zieks directly. Fascinating stuff. Van Zieks says he's unaware of this meeting- probably because he found out Ryu's defending later on and snatched this case up at the last second. Perhaps even took it from the originally-assigned prosecutor with brute force and brazen impudence. Gregson insists that 'the government bigwigs' were very insistent about not using the disc as evidence, to which Van Zieks says:
Tumblr media
Good gracious, Van Zieks is a loose cannon! … Or wait, maybe he's a reckless renegade? Or is he perhaps a prosecutor on the edge with nothing to lose? (Alright, put on a pot of coffee- we're gonna get to the bottom of this!) ...Either way, the prosecution thinks it's sufficiently made its case by establishing motive, opportunity and baseness of character.
Tumblr media
OY! I thought you don't read third-rate detective stories! But Iris specifically wrote that line into existence, so he must have. Me thinks we've got a closet Adventures of (S)Herlock (S)Holmes fan on our hands, here. The jury buys into his slander, votes guilty, Iris accuses him of being mean and Ryu enters Summation Examination mode a second time.
Tumblr media
Oh he knows what he's in for. He knows. Several minutes of talking about bullets later, the topic of (S)Holmes's waist pouch is brought up and Iris wonders whether perhaps the bullet hit one of the glass vials with flammable content. Van Zieks suddenly speaks up with an “If I may...”, catching the startled attention of Ryu in particular.
Tumblr media
“I should inform the defence that I have the pouch in question in the antechamber outside the courtroom. As I understand it, when the police arrived on the scene and found Mr Sholmes injured, they removed the pouch in order to assess the wound. Since then, it has been in my safekeeping along with all other evidence relating to the case. I can personally vouch for the fact that it has not been touched since the incident occurred.”
This whole plotline cracks me up with how little sense it makes, considering the position of this pouch on (S)Holmes's outfit. But I'm not here to criticize plot-convenience of evidence, so let's move on and look at what's actually happening here. The defense is discussing possibilities with the jurors in hopes of changing their minds towards a not-guilty and instead of keeping silent, as he's supposed to during this moment, Van Zieks actively speaks up to admit he has a piece of evidence which may be of assistance. It's entirely possible that the pouch would have all three vials intact and thereby dismiss the theory that the bullet hit one of them, but... Regardless of whether he remembers seeing a broken vial with his own eyes, he's taking a risk by showing the pouch. He could've played by the Summation Examination rules, kept his mouth shut and then later when it comes out he had the pouch all along, just remind everyone he wasn't allowed to speak. That's what most prosecutors would've done. Naturally, it's revealed there was indeed a broken vial and some scorched leather, and even closer examination reveals a third bullet we can present to the jurors.
Tumblr media
Scumbag point! So with all the confusion on the third bullet and the implication of there being a third gun, the judge does something pretty extraordinary. He doesn't wait for the jurors to change their leaning and instead actually suspends the Summation Examination until the matter is cleared up. This implies any judge has the power to overrule juror leanings, at the very least during Summation Examination, when they feel the case presented by the counsels is lacking important details. Anyway, closing argument on hold for now and the Skulkins return to the stand. Barok looks them straight in the eyes with his usual evil eye and asks them whether the third gun is one of theirs. When that's denied, he asks whether they had an accomplice, which is also denied. And it's kind of funny, because only a few minutes later when Ryu implies they had an accomplice, we get this line:
Tumblr media
“Yet in all that time, there has been not a murmur of a third man. If this apparently wraithlike being exists...” pause for chalice crush... “The court must be shown hard evidence!”
But Van Zieks was the one who questioned the Skulkins about an accomplice earlier, so... Indeed, we don't have evidence, but the murmur was definitely already there. So now the prosecution wants two things: evidence there was a third person on the scene and their identity. The game prompts two options: Either present an answer to the prosecution's demands or, y'know, don't. Naturally I chose the latter option to see what happens and it goes about as well as you'd expect. Ryu stutters and trails off, Van Zieks notes the defense is unable to complete a sentence, let alone provide credible answers... Iris takes the place of Susato in telling Ryu off for faltering, so Ryu desperately tries to catch himself and push his argument. Van Zieks says: “So, my Nipponese friend, despite the swimming eyes you seem to think you have something to say...”
Tumblr media
PENALTY FROM THE PROSECUTION, oh how I've missed you. Loading up the savegame and choosing the first option actually also leads to the exact same line of “so, my Nipponese friend, despite the swimming eyes you seem to think you have something to say...”, just with a slightly different posture and followed up with the words “this promises to be interesting.” Ryu presents the blood sample on the calendar once more and as I said before, the court acts as if they've never seen this picture before. Hilarious. Van Zieks asks why the blood is depicted as green and Ryu explains it's because of a new chemical (S)Holmes invented. The green blood is then linked to Eggert Benedict through the music disc. The court gets very excited, but much like the skin prints in case 2-2, this isn't admissible evidence. Van Zieks says “this has gone on long enough now. This flagrant ignorance of the mechanics of law.”
Tumblr media
“The protagonist in a series of short stories for the vulgar classes. A god of detection or some such. And now you employ chemical substances devised by this fantastical persona in the highest court in the land? Do you expect us to take you seriously? The samples made by this plaything are not fit to be called evidence.”
These lines! I had a quick look at both Scarlet Study's and Taisa's scripts, and there Van Zieks outright accuses (S)Holmes of being a fictional character. He doesn't actually diss the stories themselves though, nor is there anything similar to that plaything line. He only says the chemical itself is 'rubbish'. What ultimately kills me is the “Yes, I’ve heard the name” as if this is the first time it’s being uttered in the courtroom. Let's be merciful here and take case 2-2 out of the equation. Yes, (S)Holmes is mentioned several times there, they establish the two have some sort of history and he even enters the courtroom at one point to address Van Zieks directly, but that case was developed after this one so accidental retcon is bound to happen. No, let's look solely at the cases in the first game. (S)Holmes has been mentioned several times throughout the course of this trial, even by Van Zieks himself. Even better, Van Zieks was the one to present photographs taken by one of (S)Holmes's playthings earlier on. OOPS.
Ryu enters despair mode because there really is no way to prove that the color green is unique to Eggert Benedict, nor would it be accepted as evidence to begin with. But that's okay, because much like the skin prints in 2-2, it was never about having it filed as official evidence. It was about influencing the jury and as Iris so smartly points out, the Summation Examination was suspended earlier. This means that technically, it's still going on. It doesn't matter what the prosecution or the judge thinks of (S)Holmes's invention, it only matters what the jurors think, as they now have the power to force the trial to continue. Naturally, the majority votes not-guilty. Van Zieks objects rather ferociously. “My lord, with all due respect, this is an outrage! The prosecution refuses to accept this decision!” (heehee, I really enjoy these lines. With all due respect, indeed.) The judge asks on what grounds the prosecution is objecting, and Van Zieks says:
Tumblr media
“Then they are too ignorant to be trusted with the judgement of anyone's guilt!”
Gosh, he really doesn't enjoy how 'gullible' the jurors are, does he? Or rather, he gets frustrated when the jurors begin to think for themselves instead of taking the prosecution's word for it. The judge sets Van Zieks straight by basically reminding him that this is how the court works.
Tumblr media
It is so satisfying to watch him squirm. Van Zieks wants us to play by the court's rules, so we're playing by the court's rules and now he's got no more comebacks. This is it folks, we're subpoena-ing Egg Benedict! He does indeed show up to court after a brief intermission and reveals his true name to be Ashley Graydon. Graydon expresses haughty dismay that the highest court of the land was swayed by some self-professed detective's homemade tincture. Van Zieks tells him it was the will of the jury, and their great British justice system demands that the jury's will is upheld. Graydon calls the jury members inept, as Van Zieks has done many times before, but agrees to testify. Ryu attempts to needle this guy several times by asserting he was definitely at the crime scene, but indeed, the blood sample doesn't count as evidence and Ryu doesn't really have anything else to back him up. Van Zieks oh-so-kindly reminds him that the obligation to prove the defense's assertion lies with, well, the defense. Eventually we do get there and Graydon starts making up some bullshit story about how he met McGilded in a gentlemen's club and bonded with him over unique music box music, so that's what that disc was. Van Zieks points out that Yard have indeed been gathering items believed to have been McGilded's property, presumably to aid their investigations. Gregson once again loses his composure here and tries to shut the conversation down.
Tumblr media
Gregson and Van Zieks continue to banter back and forth about how Gregson is definitely not allowed to talk about these things and Van Zieks should also know better than to pry. Even Ryu thinks it's strange the two of them are bickering like that. Anyway, we're not allowed to discuss the McGilded stuff, so back to Graydon and his breaking and entering! Van Zieks asserts that if the police confiscated the disc beforehand and Graydon saw this happen, there was no reason for him to break into the pawnshop anymore.
Tumblr media
Oooh, that's some tasty triumph over Van Zieks's ignorance! Ryu brings up the second item pawned by McGilded, a 'small box'. Van Zieks insists that no such thing was stolen from the pawnshop and he can prove it, since he has a picture of the shelves from before the break-in and one from after the break-in. You know, the pictures taken by that idiot detective's silly little plaything! Through the magic of stereoscopes (or the 3D Slider in the 3DS version), Ryu can see that a small box was moved.
Tumblr media
It's absolutely hilarious that most of the court has to go cross-eyed to do the stereoscope thing and then there's Van Zieks, with a fancy stereoscope device that he just happened to have with him in a trial he couldn't possibly predict would require a stereoscope. He's so extra! Ryu asserts that if the box was moved, they have to raise the question of what was inside it and send the Yard to retrieve that thing at once. Van Zieks objects, saying that “some little box belonging to a man who died two months ago can't possibly be relevant to this trial.” The judge doesn't see it his way, though, and overrules his objection. Nice! So officers are dispatched to Baker Street to fetch the box and Van Zieks grumbles to himself about being hoodwinked by a farce.
Tumblr media
The judge once again doesn't take kindly to Van Zieks's attitude problems and I love this. I can't wait for the prosecution to be penalized, because it feels like it's right around the corner here. Van Zieks elaborates that this whole thing is nothing but a smoke screen; a Nipponese specialty. Scumbag points for this one! I can't entirely connect this to Professor foreshadowing, I think it's just him being petty. Either way, he's going to jump through hoops now. Mere minutes ago he established that the Yard is still investigating McGilded's stuff and the 'aftermath' of his activities, but he's flipping it all over now. He begins to talk about how McGilded died two months ago, immediately after the trial in which he was found not-guilty.
Tumblr media
“So I propose a toast. To my learned friend, and his most... insightful defense.”
So the logic being used here now is that McGilded was a fine, upstanding citizen and anything he pawned was truly innocent/ordinary, so why would someone want to steal it? The only way to prove that there's more to these items than might be apparent would be for Ryu to reveal that the acquittal was a mistake and the defense's argument was based on false information. They all suspected this two months ago, though. It was made abundantly clear that the only reason McGilded walked free was because nobody could say for certain whether the evidence was tampered with. Either way, Ryu's cornered now and wondering to himself whether Van Zieks knows the items in question are related to the omnibus murder. He probably does. He has access to the evidence, which means he has access to to the pawn tickets which hold some very specific dates on them.
The game gives Ryu an option whether or not to have Gina testify about what happened two months ago, but this option isn't real. If you choose 'leave it', Ryu still decides within two lines of dialogue that they have to uncover the truth. There's no penalty for stalling. So Ryu calls for Gina to testify and Van Zieks definitely knows what's up.
Tumblr media
“In particular, the impact it will have on the accused's standing... And indeed your own.”
So this is a warning, clear and simple. Van Zieks knows shit will hit the fan. Or, as he later phrases it, it will bring the court down around Ryu's ears. But Ryu insists upon the testimony, the prosecution agrees and Gina is put on the stand. The judge tells Graydon he can step down, Graydon promptly sees this as an excuse to leave and bids them all a good day, but Van Zieks tells him to wait.
Tumblr media
Oh, this... I like this. By now, Van Zieks has caught on to Ryu's little trick of watching the reactions from other witnesses during testimonies. He's purposely making Graydon stand there and listen to Gina's testimony just in case he reacts in such an overdramatic way, Ryu can pursue it. Iiinteresting! Now it seems as if he's on our side, but we're not quite there yet. Before Gina can begin her testimony, Van Zieks reminds her that if it turns out she willfully withheld information two months ago, she'll be prosecuted for perjury. That's just an intimidation technique to get her not to reveal what she withheld. … Which is weird, because you'd think Van Zieks would want her to spill those beans. Either way, with some encouragement from Ryu and Iris, Gina begins to talk about the lies she told. Aaand we're ending the essay here for now, because we're only about halfway into this disaster of a trial and the plot will only thicken from here on out. Stay tuned for part 2 of The Unspeakable Story!

An Unexpected Romance: Chris Evans x Black! Female Reader Part 1
a/n: *sticks head out* omg hi. It’s been a while. A long while. Somehow I am back writing for another white man, a different one this time. We can only hope he does not disappoint as drastically as the last one does. I genuinely have no idea if this is good? I think it’s kinda cute, and I’ve been feeling very traumatized in regards to blackness lately so I really needed some black and brown women having a good time and being happy. We deserve that tbh. There could obvi be another part to this. Let me know if anyone even cares enough for that lol. Okay bye now.
Part 2 Part 3
There’s an unspoken rule amongst you and your friends. Like a secret code, if you will. If a man hits on you at the bar and you’re not interested, and friends always know when you’re not interested, swarm and diffuse the situation. But? If a man hits on you at the bar and you are interested? Then that is a different story entirely.
It was a Thursday night out with the girls. You were at your favorite bar. It was quiet and quaint but still modern enough to attract a younger crowd. Sometimes there’s nothing better than getting dressed up and sipping on drinks with your girls. No dancing or club hopping or excessive uber rides. Just one bar, shit talk, and a lot of bacardi.
You were all sat directly at the bar in high standing chairs, Your back was turned to the entrance as you listened intently to your friend Tanya complain about her latest Hinge hook up.
“Can you believe I took my fine ass self all the way over to that nigga’s house in satin shorts? Satin! And he had a pizza box on his bedside table and the second he laid me down my back hit a bong. Make it make sense Jesus.”
Tanya was a beautiful Black woman. She was taller than all of you at six feet, and she strutted every step. Her skin was deep espresso and she was almost always rocking a vibrant colored wig that matched a vibrant colored outfit. Tonight’s color was lavender.
“I don’t know how many times we have to tell ya ass to stay away from them white boys.” You snorted, sticking your tongue out in search of your straw.
Your friends, Tanya, Raya, and Jesse all did a collective eye roll in your direction that did not go unnoticed.
“Yes ladies?” You asked with a straightened spine and arched brow.
Jesse was one of them girls you would have hated in high school. Skinny waist, slim thick thighs, and skin so clear that her Puertio Rican skin was only left to dazzle and shine. She had long, tight curls that hung all the way down to her belly button, and she always kept them gelled down and tied back. She, like all of your friends, did not hold back when it came to the group. You were honest, thick as thieves, and frankly a little brutal.
“You don’t even count. Your refusal to go near a white man is excessive and weird.” She cackled. “You're just as bad as Tanya, just on the other end of the spectrum sis.”
“Excuse me? Now Tanya dates boys...I date men. You see the difference? And if I am gone lie in some ivory sheets there’s gonna have to be some extra special attention being paid to me. And trust, there always is.”
You stuck your tongue out lewdly and laughed sending the whole table into a fit of giggles. You all clinked your glasses together and revelled in the atmosphere of melanin, acceptance, and tomfoolery. What a group.
“You tellin’ me that if a fine ass man walked in here right now and checked every box: his own money, his own car, intelligent, funny, etcetera,  and he just happened to be of the vanilla variety you wouldn’t bite?” Raya asked.
Raya was the thickest of the group, voluptuous in every sense of the word and also the only one happily married. She just put up with y’all honestly.
You rolled your eyes through with the conversation already.
“I’m saying...he’d have to be pretty fucking special and pretty fucking dedicated. Men are a headache as it is. I don’t need the added layer of some man pulling at my weave like I’m Lilly Ane from his hometown,  or asking me to do race play in the bedroom. Now I’m going to the bathroom and when I come back I’d like for us to talk about literally anything else? Okay? Okay.”
You slid out of your seat and headed for the bathroom with the grace and power of a woman in her thirties who had managed the insecurities of her younger self and had decided to only live her life revelling in her own excellence.
If Tayna was the darkest of the group you weren't at all far behind. If she was expresso, you were simply an americano with a dash of cream. And you rocked it with a full head of curls that ranged from nappy to bursting with life and moisture depending on both the day and temperature. It was all set upon the shoulders of a woman with curves and hips and chest. It was your body and you loved it endlessly, a matter quite evident in the way you walked.
That night you were wearing a coral pink jumpsuit with a long, flowy kimono and heels to match. Your kimono billowed behind you and made you feel fierce, even on the walk to the bathroom, which is perhaps why you weren’t paying that much attention. One second you’re strutting in the heels that you only wore when there wouldn’t be too much standing, and the next you’re slipping on some liquid that must have been spilt on the floor. Your whole life flashed before your eyes. The wind flew out of your lungs. This was the end…
And then you were caught by the waist. Not caught, more like gripped. Firmly. And perhaps not the waist so much as the hips. You expected to be lying straight on the floor staring up at the ceiling, and instead you were staring at a chest. A firm chest. No not firm. Chiseled might be a better description. So chiseled that your hands began to wander amongst the suit clad flesh before your mind had caught up with you. Heafer.
“Oh my god. Thank you so much. I’m so sorry I can’t believe I--”
You peered up into deep blue eyes and let’s not forget that your fingers were still wandering along that chest. Had a chest ever been so broad? No. Not unless you count Captain America apparently.
“Please, I always like to pull a rescue mission before dinner. Makes me feel like I earned my meal.” He grinned down at you.
Chris Evans. What are even the statistical chances? You wouldn’t know, you were too busy drooling.
His hands were still on your hips. Yours still on his chest. And now you were just plain staring at him. Good look.
A waiter with a towel to clean up the mess broke up the moment by clearing their throat and alerting the two of you that you were way too close to one another still.
“Oh--Oh.” You mumbled idiotically. “You’re…”
He nodded. “Chris. And you are?”
“I’m...I’m…”
The waiter snickered under their breath and you realized just how much you were ruining this moment. You straightened your spine and tried to act like you had some sort of sense.
“I’m y/n. Thank you again for the save. I was actually just on my way to the bathroom so I’ll uh let you get back to your night and try not to fall on you again.” You smiled.
“Yea, we definitely wouldn’t want that would we?” He asked.
But the way his face was looking told you maybe he might not mind it after all. Sheesh.
“Okay well uh you have a nice night, Chris.”
You tapped at his hands on your hips and he quickly stumbled back with an apology. It was the first time he looked even the slightest bit flustered in your interaction with him. You found that you liked it.
“You have a nice night too, y/n.”
You smiled at him one final time before walking to the bathroom as you had intended. But he didn't leave your mind the entire time you were there. And not just because it was Chris Evans, it didn’t feel fair to call it star struck. That was too simple, too miniscule.  Instead it was the way his hands had felt on your hips. You had the tendency to lean away from men, didn’t feel comfortable with them when you didn't know who they were. And yet there you had stood, completely at ease in his hold. You couldn’t explain it even to yourself. He had just felt right.
“Of course he felt right, he’s practically a figment of your imagination.” You mumbled to yourself at the sinks.
That was it. He didn’t even count. The only time you ever saw him was on your netflix account, so surely your perception was warped. The reality was that Chris Evans was just another white man who looked good in a sweater. The end.
That’s what you convinced yourself as you walked back to your friend, but not without taking extra precautions against the floor. By the time you arrived back at your table you had done the mental gymnastics needed to completely eliminate him from your system. Good girl.
“Now, I trust you all found something better to talk about while I was away.” You grinned as you slid back into the table.
All of your friends were snickering behind their hands and they wasted no time at all laughing at you.
“Oh did we!” Jesse laughed. “You see we had just moved on to a new topic when a little someone got a drink delivered to the table.”
Your eyes widened as Jesse pushed a glass of what looked like processo closer your way. She then pointed over by the bar leading the entire table to turn that way. Seated by his seat with his arms leaning against the bar, shoulders even broader against the wood, was none other than Chris Evans himself. As if on a Hollywood cue he turned to look at you with a smile that was both innocent and filthy at the same time. He lifted a drink of his own in the air and tilted it in your direction in silent cheers. If you had been ten shades lighter you’da blushed like a schoolgirl. It was ridiculous.
“Now...What was that you were saying about white boys sis?” Tanya asked.
You groaned to yourself softly and plopped your head down in your hands in embarrassment. This was only to notice that your sparkling glass of prosecco was perched upon a napkin with his phone number written upon it. Home boy was slick and he was bold. A man confident enough to come put himself out there, and respectful enough to do it in a way that wasn’t disruptive or rude to your friends nor yourself. It was the sort of thing that made you take notice for sure, which explained why your girlfriends were looking at you like cats that had just discovered the canary.
“What? What?! What?” You gasped at the table, clearly annoyed.
Jesse grinned. “What’chu mean ‘what’, mija! You gone get your mans or what?”
They all giggled and looked clearly in his direction, only embarrassing you further.
“Stop it!” You hissed. “He is not ‘my mans’ by any stretch of the imagination. He probably just feels bad for me slipping. I fell and he caught me. Clearly he’s a gentleman, which is nice but that don’t mean nothin.”
“Girl please! This man done sent you prosecco and a phone number. That’s like a rich modern version of a love letter. You better go talk to that man.” Raya snorted.
Women who hype up other women are the world’s greatest treasure. You loved your friends with everything in you, and you valued all of their intellects greatly. However, this was not a regular-degular man. This was literally a superhero. You had confidence for days, but this was simply a different stratosphere. You were just about to silence your friends again when a ghost must have descended because everyone else began to gasp.
“Girl he movin’. Captain America is comin in for the landing.” Raya stage-whispered.
“Oooo you know what? Suddenly I have to pee.” Tanya mumbled.
“Oh me too!” Jesse nodded.
And just like that….your table was empty. The audacity!
“Wow. I sure can clear a room huh?” He chuckled, stepping up beside you. “I hope I don’t offend too much.”
You sighed turning to face him head on.
“You certainly do not offend. In fact, I think my friends are around some corner cackling like the witches they are. They just wanted to give you space to shoot your shot.”
He smiled with a raised eyebrow. “My shot, huh? I better not fuck it up them.”
You shrugged, eyes raking gently over him. Beyond the obvious attraction, it was important for you to search for any warning signs. His body language was good. He had one hand draped over the back of your chair, but he stood two steps back from the table so that he wasn’t over-crowding your space. He seemed to be aware of himself physically, an important marker in your estimation. He was playful enough, but also clearly interested if he’d decided to come up to the table after all that. This did not bode well for you at all. The man was kinda nice.
“I just wanted to see if you were enjoying your drink is all.”
Your fingers flitted with the glass before pulling it to your lips for a sip. The way his eyes seemed to follow the motion had a heat pooling in your gut.
“I do enjoy a good prosecco.” You nodded. “Thank you.”
“It’s my pleasure. I didn’t want to be too forward but uh--I think you’re stunning and  I was wondering if I could take you out sometime.” He murmured.
Your legs were crossed in your seat, and you bobbed your leg a little, anxiety coursing through you.
“Were you afraid the number on the napkin was too subtle?”
He chuckled softly, eyes falling to the ground in an almost...embarrassed fashion? Lord, please.
“Sorry, I tend to second guess myself. I never know how people are gonna take me with my line of work. I didn’t want you to think I was trying to set up a one night stand or something. Wanted to show you I’m genuinely interested.”
Well that was unnervingly wholesome. Where they get this man from?
You let a small grin form across your mouth, a metaphorical step forward closer to his very inviting energy.
“Well, I do like the sound of stunning.”
“Yea? I think I could say some other stuff you’d like too if you give me a chance. What do you say?”
He licked the edge of his lip and it really was so miniscule but it had your thighs tightening in a way that was unholy. Rude.
You couldn’t say yes just off principle. Ten minutes ago you had just shamed all your friends for their white proclivities and the first one that walks off the street and bats his eyelashes at you causes you to cave? The hypocrisy! But...he was fine. Like capital “F” fine. Fwine with a “w”, fine. And it’s not like he was going to take you home to pizza boxes and lost bongs and then hit you up for gas money later. He was more set in his life than you were. Him being rich wasn’t even for you to utilize; it just felt good to know that he was accomplished and secure for himself. Again you dated men...not boys. And yet still you found yourself in such a conundrum.
“You look hesitant.” He noted, eyes locking onto yours.
You nodded. “I am...Excuse my bluntness but I had just gotten done explaining to my friends that dating white men often comes with more hassle than good. It can be difficult to connect cross-culturally. And quite frankly y’all are usually racist and/or fetishists. I’m not looking to upset your mama, nor am I looking to play slave master in the bedroom.”
Honestly the little speech was usually enough to send weaker men running. You say the r-word to a white man when you’re a black woman and he either calls you the n-word or gets upset and walks away. That had been your experience thus far. Not always, but enough to set precedence. The fact that he bothered to stay at the table further already separates himself from the pack.
“I can understand where you’re coming from.” He nodded, and a crease formed subtly between his eyebrows. “Not that I could ever really understand, just that I understand your hesitancy towards me. And I understand that it’s more complicated for you than it is for me. I really wish it wasn’t that way, but obviously that isn’t exactly something you and I can fix together in this very moment.”
You steadied for yourself for his next words, sure that he was about to leave you with, “have a nice life, I’ve got a spandex fitting in the morning.” There was a feeling in your tummy that felt out of place. You noted absently that it was a flutter of disappointment. And then he kept speaking.
“I don’t want to change your opinions on all white guys. I’d be willing to wager that most of us suck, and you probably should definitely steer clear.”
This caused you to snicker a little bit, a smile coming back to your face. He practically beamed in response, teeth coming together in a megawatt smile.
“However, I’d truly hate to never see that smile again.” He groaned and layed a firm hand against his own chest. “I don’t wanna change your mind about all of us...but maybe I can change your mind about me. I don’t want to feshitize you, I don’t want some weird power play between us. I don’t wanna do anything that would hurt you or make you uncomfortable. I just wanna take a really beautiful woman out if I could, if you’ll have me? Please? And if not, I take no as my answer and I walk away a little wounded, and you’ll still be here, stunning as always.”
Ooof. Boy was good. Real good.
You twisted your lips together and eyed him another time as if you were seeing each other for the very first time. Seemingly good guy. Persistent, not demanding. Willing to have conversations about race? Biceps the size of your head. Damn it was like the devil had crafted him especially for you.
“You know I think my friends have been spying long enough. I should probably meet up with them.” You mumbled.
You reached for the check in front of you adding your tip to your total and squaring out your tab. The way his eyes raked over you did not go unnoticed, unfelt. With the check closed and on the table you reached for one of the cocktail napkins on the table, pen still in hand, and wrote a note of your own. Sliding from your seat, you reached for the prosecco and downed the fizzy beverage before pressing the napkin to his chest with your nail. There was confusion, and perhaps a bit of hurt, in his baby blue eyes. This was gonna be some real trouble for you.
His palm came to rest over yours, trapping your fingers against his chest. There was a warmth there that seemed to leave your fingertips tingling. Definitely trouble.
“You have a nice night Chris.” You grinned.
His hand fell away from yours at the slightest movement on your part. He stood there, seemingly shell shocked, as you reached for your purse and his cocktail napkin. You almost thought he was going to let you get away as you went to step around him, only for his palm to grab gently at your hip.
“Good night y/n.” He whispered and reached to kiss chastly at your cheek.
The warmth of him was more intoxicating up close. He radiated heat like he radiated pheromones. And the smell of him was absolutely ridiculous as well. Was that gucci? Dior maybe?
It was a miracle you made it around the corner.
As to be expected, your awful ass group of friends were all standing by the hostess booth peaking around at you like a couple of dumbasses. They were lucky you loved em. You had an exit to execute though, and for that at least, they were useful.
You resumed your power walk, matched with clicking heels and a teasing pop of your hips, towards them.
“Is he watching?” You asked quietly.
They all nodded in various levels of incredulousness.
“Good. Let’s go.”
And then you walked your ass out that bar only to collapse the first second you cleared the doors. Your girls descended the way only women do, like fucking superheros of their own, and helped you float back to the car.
“Girl if you don’t start spilling A-S-A-P I swear fo’ God!” Raya gasped hands shaking on the steering wheel.
“What happened what happened what happened?!” Jesse screeched.
Your head nestled against the headrest of the car, your breathing having gone unsteady by the little game you’d just played.
“I think I just told him he can take my black ass on a date.” You mumbled in shock.
The tension in the car hit an all time high as everyone went silent...And then they all bursted out laughing as if you’d mentioned the funniest joke in the damn world.
“I KNEW IT BITCH!” Tayna screamed. “OOOOOOO BITCH I KNEW IT!”
“She finna be down with the swirl tonight, y’all!” Raya cackled.
“In the category of white boys y/n will fuck with, this one has a networth of millions and the highest grossing movie of all time.” Jesse spoke in her best game host voice.
“I’ll take Captain America for six hundred, Alex!” Tayna snickered.
And they all continued to laugh.
“I gotta get some new friends.”

The Robins as...
Tumblr media
PLAYERS AT A CARD GAME/BOARD GAME
>>> --- <<<
DICK:
You’d think that with him being the Robin with his heart on his sleeve, a respected vigilante to both superheroes and villains alike, and a beloved “constant” throughout the Multiverse, he wouldn’t do you dirty. And it’s moments like these, when you’re looking into his oh-so-warm eyes during a Poker game, that he banks on just that.
Jason and Tim: *watching close-up surveillance footage of Dick talking to Batman via the Batcomputer*
Jason: *frowning* Uh, what are we looking for again?
Tim: *rewinding the footage* Look closely! There’s a glint! A glint in his eyes!
Jason: Yeah, so?
Tim: That’s Dick’s tell! I’ve been trying to figure it out for years. Watch as he very calmly tells Bruce that Batnopoly Night went without a hitch while Alfred was busy putting out the fire in the library.
Damian: There’s no “glint”, Drake. His charm is his greatest con. We’ve all known it. We just fall for it every time.
Damian: *narrows his eyes* And, frankly, we need to learn it.
But he’s really not as competitive as you’d think. He’s just happy with any excuse for the family to get together outside of being vigilantes.
Damian: -Tt- Are you losing on purpose, Grayson?
Dick: *grinning* Why would you say that, Little D? Maybe you’re just better at this game than I am.
Tim: *scoffing* He’s a big boy, Dick. Tell him that you just don’t want him to throw a tantrum and walk out again.
Jason: *chuckling while figuring out his next move* Good times.
>>> --- <<<
JASON:
His experience on the streets and on the field have made him nearly unbeatable at most games in the Manor.
Red Hood: Let me play in one of your casinos, all the games I want for however many times I want, free of charge, with none of your henchmen breathing down my neck.
Penguin [on the phone]: Ha! Have you gone mad, Bat Brat? What’s in it for me?
Red Hood: I won’t blow it up for another week.
Penguin: ...
Red Hood: I mean, I’d let the guests get out first, duh-doy. But wouldn’t it be nice to have that place of business for seven more days?
If you ask him what his secret is, he’d probably just shrug and say, “Guts”. But don’t put mind games past him either.
Dick: *smirking* Is Little Wing about to fo-ooold?
Jason: Nah. Not when I have this. *drops his gun where his cards should be*
Tim: *rolls his eyes* Dude, you can’t just pull that thing out every time you’re about to lose.
Jason: *using his cards to scratch his chin* Oh, yeah? I can even do it when I’m about to win.
Damian: *stabs the table with his sword* And of this you’re certain, Todd?
Dick: Uh, guys... Maybe we should review the mechanics of this game?
Perhaps the best part about playing with (or against) him is that he’s not a sore loser. He’s learned the hard way that holding grudges can hold you back. Besides, if he’s being honest, he’s really looking forward to spending time with the family outside of “work”, too.
>>> --- <<<
TIM:
Should it be a surprise that he prefers role-playing games? The detective in him just won’t quit.
Jason: *rubbing his hands in anticipation* Fina-freakin’-lly! “Batcaves and Beasties”, baby!
Damian: And I shall be Batcave Command--
Tim: *unceremoniously ripping the plastic off the shiny, new box with a Wayne Games logo* Not today, Blood Brat. This limited edition set was my design, so I take the lead.
Five and half hours later...
Dick: *rubbing his chin thoughtfully* Timmy? If I didn’t know better, I’d say we’re in the middle of solving the cold case you’ve been working on for three weeks now...
Damian: *throws his hands up in frustration* I knew it! “Jamie Gordie the Comish”? How stupid do you think we are, Drake? And what part of “Game Night” didn’t you understand?
Tim: *gets up from the table* Then maybe don’t pressure me into it when I’ve been working on a cold case for three weeks!
Jason: *shrugs* I don’t know about you guys, but I’m actually digging these apparently-not-so-imaginary scenarios.
It’s a challenge when you’re playing against someone as intellectual as him, but not for the reason you may think.
Tim: It’s statistically impossible!
Damian: That you lost? Of course not. Drake, need I remind you that, by definition, losers lose?
Tim: But I --
Jason: Timbo, we love you, but if you say “I ran the numbers” one more time, I swear to Bats...
Dick: That’s it. *takes out the game’s instruction manual and scribbles on it* Tim, I’m sorry, but it’s now officially illegal for you to do this much research for fun time.
>>> --- <<<
DAMIAN:
He likes his games ancient and sophisticated. None of that 21st-century tomfoolery! We’re talking Chess, Tawla, Mancala...
Damian: *carefully contemplating his next move*
Clock: *tick-tocking*
Tumbleweed: *rustling*
Ants: *pitter-pattering*
Jason: *yawning*
Tim: *snoring loudly*
Dick: *Google-ing how to play the game*
Damian: -Tt- To say you’re all uncultured swine would be an insult to the swine.
Who’s he kidding? He definitely (though secretly) loves those “juvenile” games. It’s uncertain what he’s worse at, though: losing or winning.
During patrol...
Nightwing: *staring at Tim* Is that a... bite mark on your chin?
Red Robin: *setting up surveillance equipment* Oh, that reminds me. Hey, Jay, would you lend me one of your full-face helmets for next Game Night?
Red Hood: *gives Tim a thumbs up*
Nightwing: So... did Damian win or lose to you?
Red Robin: *looks back at Dick, deadpan* Wanna guess? Because believe me when I say that it could go either way.
Red Hood: *chuckling while aiming his scope at Black Mask’s window* Good times.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~
@dangerous-doodle , I know this wasn’t exactly a “The Robins as” kind of Ask, but I thought I’d leave it to you guys to decide who the best is. Thanks! It’s one of those prompts that I’d like to eventually flesh out with the rest of the Batfamily included.
(Honestly, I rarely play card or board games, but I grew up with people who took the fun quite seriously. Ha ha.)

You should do hc for if one do the losers kids got hurt, like, badly, where they would need surgery or something, and how that ship/parent would deal with that, like taking care of them after it.
Thank you so much for the request. I hope you enjoy.
A/n: Okay, so for all of these I’m gonna have the same scenario in which the ships kid fell down the starts and hit their head, this cause them to be very disoriented and needing stitches.
Warnings: mention of blood and stitches
Reddie:
- Within Reddie, I feel like Richie is the one who freaks out the most, while Eddie is the level headed one
- Because of all the things his mom put him through, Eddie tends to minimise every sickness or wound he himself gets, and he tries to be cautious about how to react to his child when they get hurt, because he read an article that says that children pick up on their parents moods.
- Richie however is very Squamish of blood, so he’s in charge of keeping their kid calm and distracting then from the pain, while Eddie asses the damage.
- On this particular day, Richie and Eddie are in their yard, bating in the sun with Richie writing his jokes and Eddie reading a book, while their kid was upstairs to locate their phone.
- They vaguely hear a bang inside the house, but they don’t start to panic until they hear one, anguished scream
- They know their child and they know that they wouldn’t cry or yell out in pain if it wasn’t serious, so they’re instantly on high alert.
- As suspected, at the bottom step of the stairs a trial of blood drips down, and an open wound is gushing on their kids forehead.
- Despite their earlier screams though, they’re very calm and only let the occasional tear escape.
- Eddie’s instincts kick into serves as he inspects their wound. He’s level headed enough to determine that while they for sure need to go to the hospital, the blood mostly stems from the fact that they hit their head in a spot that is natural to bleed a lot.
- He runs to go get a towel and an ice pack, and is back as soon as possible to create a make shift bandage that will hopefully stop the blood flow until they get to the hospital.
- Richie meanwhile is tying their hair in a dot (if their hair is long enough for it) so their hair doesn’t get caked with blood, but he’s starting to really panic because their kid is barely responding.
- They’re saying yes and no, but they avoids answering if it hurts, and they almost seems to be looking through their dads, instead of looking at them.
- So they hurry to get them to the hospital.
- Richie is in the back with them, telling them stories about all the tomfoolery he did when he was still a kid. It coacs a chuckle out of them, but not a full laugh like it usually does.
- They get to the hospital and the doctors check then over and inform Richie and Eddie that they have a concussion, and that’s the reason they seemed so confused.
- Like a second after he says this they suddenly start crying in full again, and Richie and Eddie turn their full attention to them.
- The doctor is about to start stitching their skin back up, and though their child isn’t really scared scared about needles, they would prefer to not get them
- Richie is a bit Squamish about blood, but he holds their hand tight and hopes that is soothes them (it does)
- Eddie narrates as the doctor is doing things and explains things in a less scary way so they know what’s happening.
- They are required to stay overnight, but the doctors let both of their dads stay, and they spend the evening in the hospital playing board games or watching whatever is on the TV to distract them from their wound.
Hanbrough
- okay, honestly , Bill really tries his best, but he becomes so panicked he’s really of no use.
- Mike is essentially dealing with two people who need care and attention, but he can only really focus on one to begin with.
- Like Bill sees his child bleeding and gets flashbacks to Georgie and he much he must have suffered and he shuts down completely.
- Je starts to cry, and their child sees that, panics too and cries with him.
- He really can’t do anything besides pressing in the 911 number (he can’t even talk he’s that shaken up about it) while Mike is has to both calm their child and Bill, and talk to the operator.
- Bill hugs their child really close to his chest and rocks them back and forth, therefor calming them down albeit it being none intentional.
- Mike runs to get a towel but seeing as the ambulance is on it’s way, he doesn’t really have to worry about whether or not the gaze is gonna stick or not.
- It’s not until the ambulance pulls up on their drive way that Bill snaps out of his panicked haze. Suddenly all he can think is that he is there to help his child, unlike he was with Georgie, and he’s not gonna let them down.
- So he calms down, slightly, and comforts his child as Mike helps the Emts to load them up in the wagon.
- They both are allowed to drive in the back with their child on the way to the hospital, and opportunity they both love to take.
- I’m the ambulance, Bill promises to write a bad ass character based on them in his next book, as long as they promise to be brave and not fight against the doctor. Which they obviously don’t.
- They do need both Mike and Bill’s hand in theirs though, just to feel extra safe.
- When the stitches are finally done and they’re escorted to an overnight room, Mike cuddles up both with his husband and his kid, thankful that their day is over.
Stozier
- in Stozier is kinda see the same dynamics as in reddie.
- Except Stan can’t handle touching any wounds that have blood pouring out them, out of fear of what germs are in there, so he has to coach Richie to do it for him
- Richie is (like I said before) still Squamish about the blood, but it’s his child so of course he’s gone to bite his teeth and push through.
- Stan, though he’ll try to hide it, is very concerned, and honestly feels like crying.
- He feels a bit like he failed to protect his kid, and that he somehow allowed them to fall down the stairs as if any of it was in his control.
- So he really spoils his kids in the hospital, by buying them all the food they want, all the toys they once upon a time mentioned they would love to have, until the point where it seems like they almost died.
- Richie gently tries to make Stan aware of this, especially since as soon as their kid so much as whimpers he’s out the door asking the nurses for more medicine so they can’t feel any pain.
- I just feel like Stan is very disappointed with himself if something happens to his kid, to the point where Richie will have to convince him for days that there was nothing he could have done.
- Stan just hates the fact that he can’t take their pain away. Richie hates this too by the way, he’s just better at putting it in perspective.
- Stan will follow the doctors orders to a T. If the doctor says they need to wait at least a week before doing any sports, you best believe they’re not going to either
- But his kids really loves him for it, because they know they can trust on their dad to keep them safe as much as possible.
- And they can count on Richie to be just as nurturing and kind.

“I Can’t Make It”
A/N: my first time writing something like this, i am a simple simp for one(1) boy and his name is Hitoshi Shinso
Genre: a teeny bit of angst, fluff
Note: Shinso is training to move to the hero course
Warnings: self doubt (my poor shinsou), a bit of cursing
Shinsou sat alone in the lush green grass of the field where he and Mr.Aizawa practiced daily. The days were nearing closer to consideration day, the day he would find out whether he was moving to the Hero Course or not. Mr. Aizawa had long gone, given their practice had ended long ago and how he sat alone, not quite ready to go back to his dorm. His mind couldn’t stop buzzing with ‘what ifs’ and it was driving him mad as he buried his face in his hands, letting out a frustrated groan. “Toshi?” a soft voice called, the light thumping of loafers against the grass indicated the person was nearing quickly. He recognized the voice instantly, of course. It was the voice of his dear partner, the one person who put him at ease instantly, Y/N. Shinsou couldn’t help but peek his head from his hands and instinctively look towards the sound of their voice, smiling softly as they sat beside him and placing a picnic basket beside them. “There’s my favorite hero, I thought practice would’ve been over by now?” they finally spoke, playfully punching his shoulder. Shinsou smiled softly before the smile instantly dropped. Their favorite hero? He thought to himself, Y/N noticed the shift in his behavior and scooted closer to him, gently intertwining their fingers with his and resting their head on his shoulder. The two sat in silence for a while, watching the sun begin to set over the UA building. “How can I be your favorite hero, I’m a support student with a villains quirk…” he said finally, airing his concerns. Y/N lifted her head to meet his gaze, searching his ever-tired eyes for any hints of sarcasm or tomfoolery but finding none. Their face contorted into a frown as they shook their head slightly.
“Because no quirk is a villain’s quirk, because you’re going to get into a hero course in a matter of days and people will see what I’ve always seen-- a hero. Someone who does anything in his power to help and protect others.” Y/N recited like it was a fact. “But what if I don’t get in? What if I… What if I can’t make it, in the hero course, in the hero life?” he averted his gaze to the ground, suddenly ten times more interested in the colorful socks Y/N was wearing than anything else. “You’re going to get in--” they began, in that moment he didn’t want to hear the rest of what they were about to say, he didn’t want to hear the praise that he didn’t deserve. Shaking his head furiously, he looked back up at them, grasping their hand close to his chest and cutting them off. “How do you know that? Maybe I’m just not good enough!” he cried out in pure frustration, squeezing his eyes shut. “Good enough? Shinso Hitoshi you are the best hero I’ve ever seen! Because you have pure, raw determination to help people, to save lives! That’s what makes a good hero!” Y/N spoke firmly, releasing their grip on Shinso’s hand, much to his displeasure only to find them placed gently on each side of his face. Shinsou melted into their touch, the warmth of their hand, a stark contrast to the cool breeze of the night air. “Please believe me when I say everyone knows you’ll get in. everyone believes in you so please, believe in yourself. You’ve made incredible progress since the sports festival and the administration knows that, I know that and deep down I know you know that too.” Their voice was much quieter now, barely a whisper but they got their point across. Shinso’s eyes glossed over briefly, tears threatening to fall but he quickly blinked them away and leaned closer, pressing a gentle kiss to their lips. As a thank you almost, and they certainly deserved a thank you for all the support and love they had given Shisno since they first got together, and honestly before then, when they were just friends. Y/N had shown him nothing but kindness ever since they first met and he admittedly couldn’t understand why since he was such an asshole when they first met.
As they pulled away from the kiss, Y/N smiled brightly and released their grip from his face to slide their picnic basket closer. “Now stop being sad cause I got us food.” they giggled, opening the top to reveal the basket was full of snacks and a full dinner. “Do you want to stay out here or head inside, it’s getting a bit chilly.” they suggested, standing and dusting off their pants before looking down at Shinsou with a soft smile and an open hand for him to take which he happily took. Lifting himself from the ground, he wrapped his securely around Y/N’s waist and kissed their temple gently. “Why don’t we enjoy this nice picnic in my dorm? Class A is way too loud and way too nosey to enjoy this at yours.” He chuckled, Y/N simply rolled their eyes but nonetheless nodded sheepishly. “As much as it pains me to say this… you’re right, you don’t even want to know how many questions I got leaving the dorm...” they huffed, going on about how nosey class A was and teasing that someday soon, they were going to be Shinso’s nosey classmates as well.

Here again with a story idea 😂 A day where all the brothers have plans for to go out but there's sudden expected construction work outside their house so they literally can't leave?!? (Let's assume the Matsu parents didn't think their NEETS really had anything to do outdoors that day so they didn't bother to informing them about it haha) Maybe either a hilarious series of escape events or forced family bonding time? 😂
Ah, @yisongye Here it is!! 😂😂 I hope you enjoy my interpretation of this very interesting 2020 experience 🤣🤣🤣
~~~
The bedroom door slid open and slammed against the wall, and he screamed out, “Hey, guys! Guess what!”
Karamatsu raised his chin from the hand mirror, smirking. “Yes, my dear older brother Osomatsu? What might you have upon you as to call for your excitement?”
“There’s this really big gamble that’s gonna happen in Pachinko today from a visitor!” Osomatsu informed, a pair of fists rocking in his exhilaration. “And here’s the big deal: she’s a chick! A very pretty one too! I have no idea what she would want as a penalty aside from money but I’m dead-set on challenging her!” Osomatsu flushed, sultry in a green fantasy. “Ooh man, oh boy, I’m not just gonna give her a run on her money! I’m gonna challenge her into having s** with me!” He laughed maniacally, a predator’s villainous cackle.
Todomatsu scoffed in amusement, rolling his eyes. “Well, try as hard as you want. You’ll never succeed—you’ll be a virgin NEET forever.” He angled his phone, checking himself in the selfie feature of his camera. “On the other hand, there’s a very nice girl that Atsushi informed me will come to the mixer. I’m planning on going out to buy myself a nice new jacket later so I can look nicer come Friday. There is a sale at the mall, after all, so I wouldn’t want to miss it.”
“Can that beat my luck though?” Choromatsu boasted, popping the collar of his green shirt. “I managed to get VIP passes to Nyaa-chan’s concert. So all of you might be hopeful, but I’m meeting my cat idol in a few hours. So weep in your misery, everyone. Your Choromatsu is going forth into another world.”
“Heh,” Karamatsu retorted, narrowing a perpetually theatrical gaze. “Might I remind you first, my brother. Fap none of the dazzling women that might catch your eye, no? Set a good example to all of your brothers, non?”
With his smile wilting, Choromatsu sputtered as his face went rosy. “Wh-Wh—You shut the hell up, Shittymatsu! I know stuff, you moron!”
“Heh! Good for you, brother! For my luck shines upon me like it came from heaven itself!” Karamatsu flashed them his teeth, touching an eyebrow with two fingers. “You see, my brother, my day too flows with the passionate love from Akatsuka-sensei himself! Today I have been welcomed passage into the core of Akatsuka Ward itself, and I am to meet with a lady of whom I blind date for us was set! Hm, I thank Chibita for his kind heart, how could I have known that he would know such a precious soul—BOEHH!”
Ichimatsu slammed the back of Karamatsu’s head with an unplugged iron, and Karamatsu tumbled down onto the floor. “I bet your sorry ass that you’ll be meeting up with a dishwasher, you piece of crap.”
Jyushimatsu hollered out, “As fun as meeting with girls sounds nice, me and Ichi-nii decided to go to Sealand instead! There’s this annual dolphin show that happens every so often, and after attending it once I decided to invite him to the next one! I spent my entire allowance on getting us front-row tickets, so he has a nice experience when watching the show! The dolphins are always trained so well, once I had a dream of wanting to be one too.”
Ichimatsu grinned slightly, amused. “Hm, and after that I’ll be taking Jyushimatsu to the cat shelter. I’ve made an appointment to adopt one of the cats there—Mom and Dad already let me. She’s a very young one, about two months old, found beside a river where she almost drowned. I felt bad for her and decided to keep her so she doesn’t drown herself again. Her name’s Kawa, and she’s a plain white one. I hope she likes it here at the household with me.”
“Awwww~” the collective chorus of his brothers cooed lovingly, and Ichimatsu flushed bright pink and turned away with his hands smashed to his ears.
“Shut up! Stop shedding attention to my shitty life!” Ichimatsu exclaimed miserably.
“Either way, it seems that all of us have plans for today,” Choromatsu laughed, over from his former humiliation as he shrugged his backpack on entirely. “Anyway I need to go now. The arena could get pretty crowded if I came in much later than twelve.”
Osomatsu darted his gaze to the clock to Choromatsu then back again. “But it’s eight-thirty.”
“The earlier the better.” Choromatsu lifted his shoulders, chuckling. “Perhaps I can eat lunch while waiting too. Can’t watch a concert with an empty stomach. We need energy for screaming at the top of our lungs.”
“As if you don’t do that everyday already,” Osomatsu murmured, but remained unheard.
To Choromatsu, “Yeah, I agree,” Todomatsu said, standing up from the couch and patting his pants. “I’d better get to the mall early before it gets too crowded. I mean, sales are still sales, aren’t they? I don’t wanna be stuck in a traffic of people before I see something pretty.” He directed himself towards the cabinet and rummaged through the pockets of one of his hoodies, grabbing his wallet and stashing it into his current pants. “Yep. Imma go for now. See you all later?”
“Yeah, sure!” Jyushimatsu exclaimed, waving. “Later! Have fun!”
“Kiss Reika for me, okay, Fappymatsu?” Osomatsu derided, the curves of his features smug.
Choromatsu scoffed in reply as Todomatsu tittered, and then the bedroom door shut as Choromatsu and Todomatsu exited.
A minute passed.
And then...
“EEEHHH???!!!”
The rest of the Matsuno household were already out the bedroom and down the stairs, sliding into sudden halts as they saw Choromatsu and Todomatsu frozen in front of their door. They were both with mouths so rounded that their jaws were on the floor, their eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets. Their fingers were spread out from their hands at their sides, legs parted.
“Totty? What’s wrong?” But then all the other four were soon to realize it, and with matching, elongated yells all six were better classified with the term ‘identical’ as they all sported the same gawking, disbelieved expressions.
In front of their front door, the ground was a literal swimming pool of wet cement. Across that, there were careless-of-them construction workers with complete top-volume cranes and drillers, the workers saluting each other and bearing wide blueprints as long as a man was tall. This occupied the front porch all the way to their gate, nearly tore down completely, now granting the brothers a perfect view of Matsuyo and Matsuzo as they stared at their own sons, a pair of shopping bags dangling from their mother’s arms.
“Wh...” The first with a voice managing to come out his lips, Choromatsu averted his gaze to their parents. “Mom?! What in bloody hell is this?!”
“Ah, that!” Matsuyo laughed, unbothered in the slightest by the unexpected construction. “It’s just a bit of construction, my NEETs! I didn’t think I needed to tell you since you can handle yourselves, but never mind that! Don’t worry! It’ll only be about three days until you can go outside the house again.”
“Three days?!” Osomatsu exclaimed, face contorting in horror. “But that sexy-chick gambler will leave the city in three days!”
After shooting his brother a pointed look, Karamatsu yelled out the more proper response to their mother’s statement, “How are we supposed to leave the house?! And how are you two getting back in?!”
“Ah, don’t worry about us,” Matsuzo said, chuckling lightheartedly. “We booked a stay at the hotel about a week ago because we knew about this. Plus we bought a ton of groceries last week, so the fridge was practically an entire factory of sushi and takoyaki. I’m still surprised that there was only about a shelf left of it before we left the house three hours ago.”
“Th-That was our storage?!” Todomatsu sputtered. “Our food?!”
“Gee, I wonder where all of it went,” Ichimatsu sarcastically drawled, maliciously digging a dagger-sharp gaze against Jyushimatsu, who had gone from pale to red in a matter of seconds through the transition of realization to shame.
“No, we can’t survive this!” Osomatsu protested, gesturing wildly at the commotion lining each space of their front. “Mom! Dad! This is worse than suicide! No, we need to get out of this house! You can’t expect us to stay locked in here the entire three days, do you?! We’re your sons! You know that!”
“And we’re your parents,” Matsuyo retorted, her glare making Osomatsu and his brothers all shrink. “And you know well enough that we hate it when you have no consciences. This is punishment for illegally performing on the streets a month ago just to get money for a fish sale for Totoko’s sake! Grow up! Cod, you’re all a bunch of oversized children. You’re lucky we still gave you a storage of takoyaki.” Turning her nose up, she said, “Let’s go, Matsuzo-dear. We have that specialized screening on that one movie, right?”
“Of course, darling,” Matsuzo said devilishly, internally guffawing at his son’s anxieties. “Shall we?” He extended his arm.
“My pleasure.”
All six began yelling in unison as their parents began walking away, striding off with the pride of victory and the blessing of their lack of child tomfoolery. The brothers all tumbled down defeatedly on the floor, groaning in exasperation. It was Jyushimatsu who remained standing, mind calculative as his pupils dilated and his mouth was covered by a hand. Then...
“I think I can make that jump.”
“Ah, I see you wanna die early,” Todomatsu chortled groggily, unimpressed. “Ichimatsu-niisan, take notes. Your medal’s been snatched.”
“No!” Jyushimatsu contradicted. “I think I can make that jump! Then when I do, I’ll get all of you a ladder or something so you can get across.”
“Sure, I believe you,” Osomatsu said casually, pouting. “You’re the same guy who can turn into a living Jyushimatsu virus. If you can jump that gorge of death then go for it.”
“Idiots, it won’t work,” Choromatsu finalized, crossing his arms. “He won’t make it. Trust me.”
~~~
“Or not. Of course. I rest my case.”
Preparing himself, Jyushimatsu bent his legs.
“On three, Jyushimatsu,” Ichimatsu announced. “One...two...three!”
Jyushimatsu bolted, and with the speed of a fictional being he raced across the entire room until his feet were no longer on the ground, and he was hovering in the air, his shadow overlapping gray as his form paralleled the top of their doorframe. He was only by the first half of the entire cement pool when gravity played its part and tugged him downwards.
With his arms up, Jyushimatsu yelled out a stainless “BOEHBAA!!”, only stopping when a cross-crossed surface dug into his butt and he was pulled back into the house.
And dropped on the floor with a thud, tilting his head towards Todomatsu and the butterfly net he had in his hands. “Thanks, Totty.”
“I told you it won’t work,” Choromatsu grouched.
“Work or not, where was this butterfly net from?” Todomatsu questioned, scratching his head in confusion.
Jyushimatsu said, “I also got it from Dayon’s stomach.”
Todomatsu immediately panicked, dropping the net and struggling for the closest sink.
“Aha! I have a new plan!” Karamatsu extolled, spreading his arms wide. “My brothers, this plan of mine is guaranteed to entrance our grand exit! Be amazed, my brothers! We shall be able to access our hopes and dreams on finding the romance, enjoyment, and entertainment that our lives have waited for! My brothers, join me!” He began spinning around dramatically, a hand sailing to his back pocket for a rain of rose petals that he sprayed over the floor. “Grab a pen, and wonderful stationary. We are writing letters.”
Everyone stared at him dumbfounded, except for Ichimatsu, who bluntly said, “Kill me now.”
Minutes later, all six of them were gathered around the living room table, color-coded papers assigned to each brother. At the center of the table was a pack of markers, as well as some glitters none of them (but Karamatsu, apparently) knew they even had. At the head of the table, Karamatsu smirked at them, a finger-gun connected to his jawline as his sunglasses hid his dancing eyes. “Now, pick up a pen,” he instructed.
They all did, grabbing the marker colored with the hue of the sibling closest to them. Karamatsu picked last, raising his pink marker. “Step two, revisit your talents in mastery. Perfect, swooping calligraphy, as a dazzling prince such as us possesses.”
“Bro, I failed art class because of calligraphy,” Osomatsu deadpanned.
“Now,” Karamatsu pronounced as if no one had spoken, “Take the tip of your pen to the page. Then with the watery softness of a fountain, draw the letter ‘I’.”
Though hesitant, everyone followed.
“Good, my brothers. Next, add a space. Then, the letter ‘L’.”
They obeyed.
“Brothers, the letter ‘O’.”
They complied.
“The letter ‘V—”
“Karamatsu-niisan, what’s the message you’re making us write?” Choromatsu asked bluntly.
“Um...” Karamatsu made a heart with his hands, smiling boldly, “It will say, ‘I love you, dear cement! Please let us pass through your jinxes, allow us passage because you reciprocate my feelings to you!’ Oh, brother, the ground will harden almost immediately because of passion! I can see her heart beating from our kindness! Oh, brother, my brother, it shall make her weep tears of rock that would melt into a river of the soul! I see it, brother! It shall work, brother!” He was dancing in his reverie, nearly crying. “Oh, brother, my brother, sweet brother—BOEH!”
He collapsed on the ground, and Ichimatsu dropped his fist. “How about, ‘Brother, shut the eff up’.”
“Ugh, this sucks!” Todomatsu whined, tossing his paper away. “You’re all stupid and useless! Now I’m never gonna be able to look attractive enough for the new girl.” He buried his head in his arms on the table. “It’s hopeless for me. I need to be stuck with a bunch of ‘overgrown children’ until Atsushi sweeps her off her feet.”
“No.” Osomatsu stood up, all serious. Everyone looked at him. “There’s still hope. I think there’s one more thing we can do before we can say that we failed.”
Choromatsu lackadaisically suggested, “Request the construction workers for a way across?”
“Even better.” Osomatsu straightened his body, chin up, spine vertical. “Everyone. Off to the roof.”
Silence (...)...
“...eh?”
It was even louder on the roof than outside, because the entire view was there to present itself. The machines were huge, matted with soil and cement, some of the yellow on the bodies faded or whitened. Five of the six of them watched the entire thing with fearful anticipation, the giants in front of their house like dragons hovering over a field of lava. Whatever plan this Osomatsu-niisan of theirs had, it had better be worth it. Because so far, it looked like death was going to be the option here if it weren’t success.
“Boys,” Osomatsu announced, hands on his waist. “It’s time. Jyushimatsu, come here.”
Gulping, Jyushimatsu didn’t protest as he allowed himself to be led by his oldest brother, scarily close to the edge of the roof. Sweat ran down the sides of his face, his legs trembling in his discomfort. But he stayed there with his hands at his sides, staring straight and down towards the valley of Tartarus below.
“Karamatsu, come here,” Osomatsu instructed, and with the same worrisome posture Karamatsu stepped next to his eldest and fifth-born brother. “Karamatsu, go over Jyushimatsu’s shoulders.”
Karamatsu sputtered, and Choromatsu let out a “NO!” louder than the entire construction company combined.
But Choromatsu was ignored as Karamatsu timidly climbed onto Jyushimatsu’s back, and rested his thighs over Jyushimatsu’s shoulders. Both of them were perspired and horrified, already awaiting doom before a signal can even be clarified. Jyushimatsu clasped Karamatsu’s legs like it was giving him reassurance, but the threat of failure was still too strong for that.
“Ichimatsu, you next!” Osomatsu called out, and Ichimatsu greenly approached the building tower with his chin dipped and his eyes sullen. Internally, he was mouthing his last will and testament.
But he climbed nonetheless onto Karamatsu’s shoulders.
“Okay, my turn.” Osomatsu climbed onto Ichimatsu’s shoulders, and the weight began tugging down on Jyushimatsu as a wobble began to wrack their brother building. Hands grabbed legs, butts nestled tightly against napes, and lips went pressed as three of them stifled the screams that were growing in their throats.
“Choromatsu! You’re up!”
“This is dangerous, you idiot eldest!” Choromatsu reprimanded, arms wide for emphasis. “No more kidding—you’re literally trying to kill us!”
“Wouldn’t you die for Nyaa-chan?” Osomatsu inquired calmly.
Choromatsu was up over Osomatsu’s shoulders ten seconds later.
“Finally! Totty!”
On top of the tower, Todomatsu shook harshly as he grabbed the sides of Choromatsu’s head for dear life, legs intertwined over Choromatsu’s chest. Actually, most of them were like that. The only exception was the oldest brother, as determined as an eagle, staring straight through the obstacles separating him from making out with a beautiful gambling girl.
“Jyushimatsu, on three, run back, and then jump.”
“We’re gonna die,” Ichimatsu rasped with a plastic smile.
“Yup,” Karamatsu agreed in a tiny voice.
“On three, Jyushimatsu,” Osomatsu repeated, fiercer, and Jyushimatsu stepped back, all his brothers doing the same with the connections binding them in that formation. Jyushimatsu’s legs were shuddering. The pores on his skin were leaking.
“One...two...THREE!!!”
Eyes shut, Jyushimatsu made his run and jumped.
A few seconds later, at the other side of the gate, there were six bodies lying on the streets they’ve cracked, car horns roaring angrily in the traffic they caused.
~~~
Matsuyo tapped her feet. “I don’t think I need to scold you anymore. You know very well what you’ve done, right?” She crossed her arms, tilted her chin. “And because of that, there won’t be any more takoyaki. Not just because you absolutely don’t deserve it anymore, but because we can’t afford it.”
“Eh? Why not?” Osomatsu asked, then whimpered when he tried to move his head a little. With a full body cast matching those of his brothers’, there was no twitching a pinkie nor a strand of hair on the hospital beds.
“Not only because I have six sons confined with full body casts following surgery,” Matsuyo said madly, “but because of the damage! Not only did you break almost every bone in your body but you broke the road itself! There’s gonna be so much construction in front of our house now and guess what! We are the ones who need to pay for it!”
“Are we that fat?” Karamatsu sobbed.
“Think about what you did, you NEETs,” Matsuzo moaned, massaging his temples. “This didn’t just ruin our day with all these expenses. But your day too. Didn’t you all have anything better to do?” With that, Matsuzo and Matsuyo left the room, shutting the door behind them.
When they were completely gone, Jyushimatsu whimpered, “So...No dolphin show?”
“No cat...?” Ichimatsu followed up miserably.
“No clothes...?” Todomatsu wept.
“No Nyaa-chan...?!” Choromatsu cried.
“No date?!” Karamatsu tearfully yelled.
“No sexy-as-hell gambling babe?” Osomatsu whispered.
They all went quiet.
Then together, they all cried as one.
Radiation Drunk
Some Hurt/Comfort, Drunken Tomfoolery after Becker gets shot and has a bad reaction to his body trying to rapidly heal from exposure to radiation saturated territory. Rune is freaking out and trying to sneak them back home without Møller or Fuchs finding out
The truck's engine whirred, coasting to the shoulder of the dirt road. Becker swayed behind the wheel, clinging to it as he focused intently through the windshield. He grimaced with the brake, desperately grabbing the shifter. There wasn't enough strength in his grip to lower them into the next gear.
Rune clamped a hand over his, helping him get it there.
Eventually they rolled to a stop and she shoved them into park. It was hard to tell if Becker was pale. She watched him, worried he'd keel over on the steering wheel. He certainly didn't look good. Slouched in his seat he kept a hand over the bloody stitches in his middle, eyes gaping, half lidded and blank. If not for his labored breathing, he could have been dead.
"Becker," she touched his shoulder with a bloodstained hand.
"One minuet." He wheezed.
She wasn't sure why she needed to keep hold of him, as if she could catch him from death. Had she been too slow in stitching him up? Had he lost too much blood? It was spread through his white undershirt, dark and wet. Some had even soaked to the thigh of his pants, black against the dusty green.
We're all alone. She glanced to the mirrors and ahead. There was no one else on the road. No villages, no houses, no trucks. Just overgrown fields of bright yellow canola flowers. Thorn's men had been ordered to go ahead. And Rask? Gone the moment the Rus sprung. The coward.
"I'm alright," he croaked. She turned back to him, looking none the better. Sitting up, she pulled a knee under her as if being taller helped somehow. His brow wrinkled, blinking rapidly as if surprised by the pain. "I just need a minuet." he took deep breaths between sentences. "Can you drive? If you can, we should trade places."
"Yes," she nodded. "I can drive." She had never driven a truck as large as the two ton, but there was enough open road to learn and he needed help. He released a sigh as if relieved to hear it.
“Alright,” turning his wrist, he pointed to one of the levers in the center of the cab, "pull that, please."
Please? She frantically did so, acting quickly to keep an eye on him. He must be dying. Nodding he took a series of deep breaths.
"Parking brake," it was a soft laugh, lifting the hand to smear back his bangs. "After you, Orderly Vitale." she quickly opened her door, stepping out as he drug himself over. Waiting to make sure he made it, she shut the door before scrambling around the hood. Clambering into the monster of a machine, she checked to make sure he was alright. "Will you hand me that?" he pointed to her door.
Against the underside of the dash was a sling, his carbine tucked inside, pointed beneath the dash. Carefully, as if it may bite her, she pulled it from the sleeve. Tarnished wood, whittled with lines, it was heavier than it looked. He took it from her, grunting as he rest it, barrel down, against his leg. Next, he grabbed his field cap from the dash, only then sitting back.
"Do you remember the way?"
"Most of it." She worked the clutch, removing the parking brake before shimming the shifter into gear. "You have to stay awake to make sure I'm right."
"I will."
He did, at least for as far as she needed him to. About an hour outside of Königsberg she recognized where they were. She promised she knew the way and he seemed to take her word for it. Stretching his legs out and resting his head back, he pulled his cap low over his face. She never stopped checking the stain on his shirt. Making sure it wasn't spreading.
The tense frown never left his face.
By the time they rolled into the fortress walls it was midafternoon. Thorn hadn't beaten them by much, truck still running in the bay. "Becker, we're here." She announced, fighting with the shifter to park. By the time she got the stubborn brake set and killed the engine, Becker still hadn't moved. She watched his chest, making sure he was breathing.
Technicians asked them to step out, assuring they could take the trucks from there.
"Becker, we have to go." She tapped him. He took a moment to rouse, eyes fighting open as his head moved to look around. "We made it."
He nodded.
Swiping wildly at the door he mumbled something, sure it was another language. Clear he was moving on his own, she rushed to get out. The door clanged into someone. "Hey! Watch it!" They barked.
"Sorry."
No, idiot, you have to act fast. You're the one in charge. She cleared her throat, pushing on the door to leap out.
"Shouldn't you know not to get so close? It's a running truck." It was her best attempt at impersonating Becker, his unforgiving tone. The soldier glared, but took a step back. "I hope you can handle them with more sense."
I'm so sorry but I have to hurry. Brushing past him, she rounded the hood finding Becker kicking his door open.
Everyone was already staring, standing around curious to see why the Earl wasn't driving. It was the one thing he had asked her. Not to let Møller find out.
"Oi! I doubt anyone has orders to stand around slack-jawed. Let's go, we aren't winning the war like this." At her bark they hurried to find anything to look busy. Becker threw himself out of the seat, missing the sidestep but managing to land on his feet. "Atata, careful," she hissed.
"What?" He stumbled back against the truck as if he didn’t know who she was. She reached around him, pulling his pack from the floorboard. It looked as though Hanari was having just as much trouble. The graceless scout misstepped the end of the sister truck's bed. Kuebrich scrambled to catch him, the other scouts crowing exaggerated laughter as they worked together to drag him off.
The technicians stood baffled, watching the circus act.
Vitale was surprised Becker managed as well as he did on his own. Passing the barracks and starting towards the bridges, he seemed perfectly fine to the passerby. She stayed beside him, arranging the pack on and off her shoulder to hide the blood stain on his shirt. It was the blue-banded communication officers she had to look out for. They would pry the most, and she knew Becker was right. If Møller found out, there wouldn't be an end to his questioning.
"Shit," Becker yelped, or something like it. She scrambled to catch him, barely keeping them on their feet. He swayed as she pressed against his shoulders, straightening him back up.  She glanced up and down the street. Empty. "Was that an earthquake?" His voice grew loose, vowels gliding together as an accent grew into his words.
"Afraid not. Here, let me have your arm." His balance was shot, leaning on her and staggering to one side. She had to constantly pull at him to keep them from wandering off. As close as they were to home, she still worried someone would see them. It was the same in Rome, too. No matter where you went, word spread like fire in an office.
He tugged her to a stop. “What is it?” She breathed, worried at the grimace on his face. Already sluggish, he moved achingly slow to look down at himself. She did as well, watching his hand pull away from the wound, damp with fresh blood.
“It’s alright,” he whispered.
“You busted your stitches.”
"Sorry," apologies sounded strange from him. Weary. Unsettling. She didn't like it. Hurrying them on, his staggering became shuffling and, then, stumbling, heavier against her the closer they got to the house. It was amazing he they arrived with him still on his feet.
"Can you stand up for a moment?"
"Oh, yeah," and he did. She rushed to dig through his bag for keys, a mess after the scramble to mend him up. He stumbled forwards, as if to catch his balance, planting face first into the side of the house.
"Becker," she winced, finding the keys. He pressed back, brow pinched, regarding the wall with an offended glare. Unlocking the door, she helped him inside. "You're going to bed."
"The sun's still up. There's reports."
"Something is wrong with you. Either you can go to bed, or we can go to the infirmary." That shut him up. She locked the door, dropping the bag to help him to the bedroom. He caught the doorframe, doing his best to keep his knees from going out from under him. She heard him swallow, watching him blink widely. "Becker?"
He wasn't as quick to answer.
"I'm alright," he swayed forwards into another step. She led him to bed, carefully sitting him down. "Thank you, Vitale." It sounded a lot like a goodbye.
"I'm not leaving," she scoffed at the idea. "You're in no condition to be by yourself. Not to mention I need to redo your stitches."
"Yes ma'am," he pulled his cap off, tossing it onto the nightstand. "There's a kit in the washroom." He strained, as if to get up.
"Madre di Dio –I'll get it. Stay still." she pressed him down before scurrying to find the kit. On a shelf beneath the wash basin she found an old, metal medical kit, akin to something one of the medics might have carried. It surprised her with everything it held, equipped for any type of wound. She grabbed a towel, filling a bowl with water before returning to the bedroom. He hadn't moved.
"I think I have everything I need. Do you want to lie down?" He watched her arrange the kit, frowning at the bowl.
“What’s that for?”
“You’re bleeding, and now that we’re not outrunning radiation and Rus, I can properly clean it.” She glanced over, his gaze unfocused but not looking any happier. From a daze he grabbed her wrist, a spring of an action as quick as a viper. But his fingers didn’t dig. Careful in bringing her arm closer, he studied her arm, thumb smearing at the bruises there.
“Are you alright?” he asked, the process of lifting his face to her almost causing him to teeter backwards.
“They’re just bruises. What do you think I’m made of?”
“Is that it?” A smile crept over him, humming a chuckle. “You’re the brave one when I get scared?”
“Don’t patronize me.” She slipped free, avoiding his frown as she spread the towel over the bed.
“Hm?”
“You weren’t scared,” the idea caused her to kiss her teeth. “You’re an Earl, you don’t get scared.” He watched her work without a word, crease working in and out of his brow. “Now, come on, let’s get your stitches in order. Shirt off and lie back.” There was a delay, his hands fumbling to find the hem of the shirt. Discomfort splintered across his face as he peeled it off the stitches. She helped him pull it over his head, hanging it over the corner post. Squinting over a shoulder, he blearily did his best to lie back over the towel.
The wound was strange.
Fleeing the Rus emission city, she had watched his skin try piecing itself together around the bullet wound. Like something unnatural, days of healing happening in moments right before her eyes. It had been a fight to get the bullet out before it healed around it. Now the wound was an odd state of partially healed. Uneven like the surface of a sponge.
“I was scared,” He mumbled, almost slurred. “I wasn’t quick enough. Careful enough …I almost lost you.” His eyes were already closed, voice fading as he went limp –fast asleep like a drunk.
That's what it is. Radiation drunk.
She finally pulled her stare from him to work on the wound. Starting with removing the old stitches, she worked quickly. It was much easier without the jostle of the truck. Flushing what wasn’t healed, she stitched what needed it before bandaging him up. He so little as flinched. Pulling the sheets out from under him, she did what she could to cover him up, letting his boots hang off the bed.
He had been right about the reports. What they had seen from the Rus needed to be sent up the flagpole. Møller needed to know about the bombs, the traps, their threats. Removing her boots at the door, she drug their packs into the office, lighting a candle to sit at his desk.
She wrote down everything, marking through the binder of maps as she went. The Rus had lured them in. The false ground which hid their trenches underneath, men ready and waiting below. How they pulled men to their deaths, suffocating them in the floors of thick mud. They had an entire network under there. A city. A maze. Filled with traps and equipped with weapons one of them had seen before.
A shiver ran through her, still able to feel them pulling her down into the dark. Frightfully strong. Ruthlessly violent.
She finished just as the sun set behind the walls. Night crept in quick, soon her candle the only source of light. Leaving the pages out to dry she considered finding something to eat. Her body ached as she stood. No longer running for her life or terrified Becker would bleed out in the middle of nowhere, she realized just how sore and stiff she was. Her arms protested as she pumped water into the sink, back and shoulders pointing out every bruise. But the water was cool, soothing as she washed her face and letting her arms soak in the basin.
Closing her eyes, she realized just how quiet the house was. In this corner of the settlement there was no bustle. No one passed this way. Silence rang in her ears leaving room for anxiety to creep in. Invisible grips digging into her limbs, hands clawing into skin.
Her breath shook as she stood, quickly splashing her face and drying herself off. Food didn’t sound good, stomach crammed with knots. She couldn’t understand how Becker managed living in such quiet. It was haunting, heavy. Uneasy she decided to check in on him, keeping the candle close in the dark. Peering into the bedroom she found he hadn’t moved.
“Becker?” She whispered, knowing how easily he startled. He didn’t wake. Inching inside she sat the candle on the nightstand, trying again, “Becker? Walram?”
His brow twitched, eyes trying to open.
“It’s me.” He only grunted, eyes closing again and face going slack. “I want to check your bandages.” She pulled the covers back, bringing over the candle to try and see.
Becker shifted, drawing in air, fighting to lift his head.
“It’s just me,” she soothed again. “I need to make sure everything is alright.” Blearily he stared, expression wrinkling in and out as if having a hard time distinguishing her. “Just lie back, I’m only looking.” He gave in as she pressed at his shoulder, protesting a with weary sigh. Carefully peeling back the top of the bandage she searched for blood. “Looks clean. I think they’re going to hold nicely. They’ll probably be sore in the morning.” Sure to straighten the bandage back out, she covered him up again.
He was doing his best to keep his eyes open. The one with the scar drooped farther than its counterpart, making him look confused. His brows scrunched when he blinked, as if it took all the effort in the world to do so. It worried her how drained he was.
He shivered.
She thought it was a trick of light, a flicker of the candle. But an uneasy frown came over him at another wave of shivers. It didn’t seem possible. Someone who lived in Königsberg, capable of getting cold? Becker never flinched at the sharpest of winter gales, but here, in summer, shivering? Putting the candle back she pressed a hand to his forehead. No fever. If anything, he was cool to the touch.
“Are you cold?” she asked, feeling foolish once it was said. It was clear he wouldn’t answer. Easing down to sit on the side of the bed, she touched the sides of his face, neck, shoulders, all fairly chilled.
More shivers, another grimace.
She wasn’t sure what caused it. Was it because he was a Shader? Because of the radiation? Because of blood loss? Regardless she knew he had to get warm. Toeing off her boots she was careful in climbing over him. He garbled something, attempting to sit up.
“It’s ok, it’s alright.”
“What are you doing?” It was half a slur, half panic, the best he could manage in his condition.
“You’re freezing cold,” she worked her way under the covers, minding his wound. “I’m going to lie down with you to help you warm up.” She did, lying against him to cover them both up. He continued to shiver, tense beside her. Boldly she turned on her side, slipping under his arm to rest her head on his shoulder. “I’m not hurting you, am I?”
A disagreeing hum.
“Oh, good.” She went still, listening and waiting. Eventually his shivering lessened, even his tension easing away. It was still just as quiet there as it had been in the other room, except for him. His breathing reminded her of the way the crashing waves of the ocean echoed in the early morning. Deep and lulling. There was also his heartbeat. Slow, she frowned, dangerously slow.
Tilting to press her ear completely against him, held her breath, counting.
Thump-thump.
One… two… three…
Thump-thump.
Watching candle light dance on the ceiling, she continued to listen. She wasn’t sure how long she lay there, counting, making sure the thumping didn’t get slower or stop all together. If it did, she didn’t care how angry he would be, she would get Møller and have him taken to the infirmary. Blood loss may have dangerously dropped his blood pressure. Too much and he wouldn’t make it.
“Becker?” She said, not surprised when he didn’t respond. A new anxiety wound its way in her head, no longer able to hear his pulse as hers thundered in her ears. Terrified. She was thinking about waking him again when he hummed in question. Settling her worry and steadying her voice, she whispered, “does your heart always beat this slow?”
A moment of quiet.
“Mh,” a sigh of agreement, voice vibrating deep in his chest, “…broken hearts always beat slow.”
“Oh.” She didn’t like that answer. His arm moved under her head, hand hooking around to brush over her hair.
“It’s alright,” he said for what felt like the hundredth time. Except, this time, she believed it. They had made it back to Königsberg, away from the Rus, away from their strangling grip. No more mud. No more blood. Safe. He smoothed his hand over her curls, soft and slow.
We’re alright.
Intro Paragraph:
Known to spark some controversy with her decisions as a summoner, Sky’s skills with a bow is nothing to laugh at. While it may be a fairly unpopular choice due to the amount of cons it has, she has gone above and beyond with it and has proven her skills with a bow to be just as strong to hold up a fight on her own. Putting it together with her magic, has enough power behind it to deal heavy hitting damage.
Personality/Characteristics:
The polar opposite to her parents is what people who know Sky would say. Loud but full of smiles, she is often the mood setter of her team and usually is the one to bring the mood up when everyone feels down or discouraged. She is a lively person who hates seeing people upset and will often cheer them up and pull them back onto their feet. That being said, she also can be very mischievous. Often playing pranks with a fellow rookie summoner and can be quite the gremlin when she’s onto her mischievous acts. However, she will also not stand for any tomfoolery and will not hesitate to call someone out for their behaviour or actions.
Birth and History:
As the only child of two of the most renowned summoners of Elgaia, Sky has been thrown into the spotlight from a young age. Expected to do great things and follow the footsteps of her parents, she felt the pressure of having to fill the major gaps and live up to society’s expectations of her as a summoner. The expectations she had to fulfill ends up being twisted as she continues to throw off the public with her choices as she started her career as a summoner. From her weapon of choice to the field of work she went into, this has caused some controversy to spark within the public. After some self reflection and self discovery, she had decided that while she wanted to do great things like her parents did, ultimately wanted to create her own feats and pave her own path for herself to walk down. How would the public see it was none of her concerns and she wanted to prove that she can do great things, even if it is in a much different field than her parents.
Quote:
“For Lucius’ sake! I told you to not touch that!”
Trivia:
Opposite to her father, Sky absolutely hates antidotes and the taste to her is god awful. She doesn’t get why her father likes them so much. Even if they are made by her mother, she would much rather drink any drink or concoction that is ten times more weirder than an antidote. Because of her strong dislike to antidotes, she has a stronger resistance to poison than normal that developed from not wanting to drink an antidote ever.
Word Count: 1182
Warnings: none i don’t think, tomfoolery?
A/n: (Infinity War/ Endgame who?) if you want to be tagged please look at the link in my bio. for the wonderful @sunmoonandbucky
Two men sat in an extravagant office. Dark wood furniture and fixtures complemented by a deep red color on the walls. One of the men who was bald sat in the leather chair facing the door, the other, who had jet black hair that made him look even paler than he actually was sat opposite the bald one.
“So she got away,” the bald one said but it wasn’t a question. He looked at the dark-haired one not trying to hide his disappointment.
“Unfortunately, but don’t worry it will not happen again,” the black-haired man said with a smirk.
“You’re right,” the bald man agreed and before the other man had a chance to respond, he put a bullet in between his eyes, a trickle of blood ran down his pale face.
Bucky was in over his head, that he knew for sure. Not the protecting Y/n, that was easy he could do that in his sleep. Sure she was being a pain in his ass but he could handle her being a pain in his ass.
What he couldn’t handle was being a high school teacher. He couldn’t handle the looks or the talking and it all felt weird to stand at the front of a class and talk for an hour and a half. The worst part was that they all hung on every word he said and he didn’t know how to deal with that.
The only thing he took any solace was the fact that these kids might actually be learning something. Which he found odd but he continued to talk and answer questions. He was starting to regret, slightly, that he hadn’t gone with being a math teacher. He’d always been better at math than history.
~
It was the last class of the day on Friday and it just so happened to be a B day. Which meant that Y/n had her class that seemed to be hell-bent on setting her up with Bucky.
In fact, the last half hour of every class the students had dubbed talk about Bucky time. It had been almost a month since the start of the school year and Y/n was going to lose her mind. She’d tried to stop it at first but she agreed to let them have the last half hour of each class if they all paid attention in class and did their assignments.
One this particular beautiful October Friday afternoon, the class was having a grand old time talking about Bucky Barnes.
They hadn’t even bothered to leave their notebooks out, all backpacks were packed except for Mary who had a small notebook out and seemed to be taking notes on the conversation.
“Ok so under pros we have that he’s handsome -” Mary said reading off her list.
“And ripped to all hell,” Andrew added.
“Thank you, Andrew,” Y/n said and he gave her finger guns. “Shouldn’t you be on your way to a football game?”
Andrew shrugged. “It got canceled due to weather.”
“And he’s a really good history teacher,” Ann piped up getting the conversation back on track.
“Yeah, because he’s like a 1,000 and he lived half the stuff he’s teaching about!” Y/n said and the whole class looked to her. “Write this down as con; he’s old as shit and grumpy all the time.”
The class was silent as they stared at their teacher.
“What?” Y/n demanded.
“You like him,” Rachel grinned.
Just as Y/n opened her mouth to argue the fact when the classroom phone rang. Everyone looked over to the phone. Y/n walked over and picked it up.
“Hello?” She answered.
“How are things going?” Bucky’s voice came through the phone.
“Why are you calling?” Y/n asked in a hushed voice.
“Why are you whispering?” He matched her tone.
“Because I’m in the middle of class, why are you calling?”
“Just checking on you,” he said. “What I’m not allowed to check up on you?”
“I hate you.” With that Y/n hung up the phone and realized that the entire class was staring at her. “This is going to be the worst year of my life.”
“And we’re so excited that we could be here for you on this journey with you,” Rachel said loudly.
Luckily the bell rang and the kids rushed out of the room desperate to start their weekend.
Y/n sat down at her desk and pulled out the assignments that everyone had turned in and she began grading. She had the hope that she could get the grading done before she went home tonight or at least some of it.
She doesn’t remember falling asleep but she was jolted awake by a banging noise and a grunt. There was a homework assignment stuck to her cheek that she didn’t bother removing. She squinted at the source of the noise only to find blue eyes staring at her from across the desk.
“Why are you like this?” Y/n grumbled as she peeled the piece of paper from her face.
“I was just making sure you were alive,” Bucky shrugged, “Are you almost done because I would really like to go home.”
“You can go at any time,” she went back to grading hoping that he would just leave.
No such luck.
“I already told you that we walk to and from school together.”
“Do we also have to go to the grocery store together? Because that’s my ‘me’ time.” Y/n finished one stack of papers and moved onto the next.
“No need, your groceries will be delivered until this mess is figured out.”
Y/n glared at Bucky but he only shrugged. She continued to grade the papers and Bucky complained the entire time reminding her that she could just do this all at home, or it could wait until the weekend. She ignored every last complaint he had.
It was around seven when she was done. Bucky sprang up from his seat once she had all of her things together.
Their commute home was always the same, neither of them talked to the other and they were fine with that. But today Y/n felt the need to fill the silence for reasons she couldn’t explain.
“So how are you liking teaching?” She asked while they rode the subway already cursing herself for breaking the routine. He gave her a look of pure confusion.
“Fine,” he said offhandedly. There was a pause before he continued. “I’m not sure how the kids feel about me though.”
Y/n scoffed. Bucky furrowed his brows at her and she rolled her eyes.
“The kids love you. They think you’re a genius history teacher,” as she told him this she could’ve sworn that she could see the small smile on his lips, “I told them you’re so good because you lived through half of it.”
Whatever smile he’d previously had on his face was replaced by the glare he gave her.
“You’re a really funny gal,” he grumbled.
She beamed at him. “I think so too.”
