HEY HEY HEY
How about Wayne at Eddie’s funeral and reader shows up because she was a classmate and secretly loved him
Oh, you wanted sad? I'll give you sad. Enjoy your cry!
Warnings: S4 is canon, told in third person, mentions of death/funeral

Wayne didn't realize who she was at first, when she walked in to the garden in her black dress and makeup already slightly smudged from tears shed on the way to Eddie's funeral. It wasn't until he overheard one of Eddie's friends--one of the younger boys; a curly-haired kid named Dustin--whisper to another one, "Told ya she'd show up."
And then Wayne knew.
He watched as she made her way over to him, hand trembling as she reached out to him. "Mr. Munson?" she croaked, voice breaking.
"'S me," he replies, fumbling with the unlit cigarette between his fingers.
"I'm, um, I'm a friend of Eddie's?" She says this like a question, like she's unsure. "We had world history together this year, and he sat next to me."
Her crystal blue eyes are glassy, and Wayne has to stop himself from wiping the tears from her cheeks. "He was...he was such a kind person," she starts, casting her gaze down at the grass. "He probably never told you this, but one time, right before class started, Jason Carver stuck gum to the back of my shirt, and Eddie..."
"It is you," Wayne muses. "You're the one Eddie gave his shirt to."
She nods. "Literally took it right off in the middle of the classroom and handed it to me so I could change in the bathroom. He walked around the rest of the day with nothing under his jean jacket." She gives a small smile at the memory.
"He was a really special boy," Wayne agrees. "Wish everyone else could see that."
"I have the shirt," she blurts out, almost involuntarily. "He told me to keep it when I tried to return it, but I figured you'd might w-want it back." She reaches into her bag and pulls out a worn Metallica t-shirt, hems frayed.
Wayne wants to take it, bury his face in it and inhale any remaining trace of his nephew, but he refrains. "If Eddie wanted you to keep it, then you should," he says finally. "I have plenty of his shirts back home." Though it doesn't feel like a home anymore, not without Eddie there playing his axe too loudly or headbanging along with the radio or giving his uncle a play-by-play of his latest D&D campaign with his mouth full of pizza.
"Thank you," her voice is barely above a whisper, and she can't hold back from enveloping the man in a hug. He was never one for physical touch, usually opting for a nod of the head rather than a handshake, but he allows himself to fall into her embrace, placing a calloused hand on her back before hugging her tighter.
He pulls back and clears his throat. "There's...there's something that I oughta show you," he admits. "'F you wouldn't mind coming back to the trailer after the service."
She nods in agreement, squeezing his hand before taking her seat amongst the smattering of other mourners. There aren't a lot; Eddie was an outcast at best and a (falsely accused) murderer at worst, but there were more people than Wayne had anticipated. He felt a pang of warmth in his chest each time someone showed up.
People loved you, Eddie, he thinks. You were so goddamn loved.
She finds Wayne as soon as the service concludes, and he motions to his truck. The ride to the trailer is silent but not uncomfortable; just the two of you silently remembering the boy who died a hero.
Wayne leads her straight to Eddie's bedroom. He grabs a cardboard box out of a dresser drawer, clothes haphazardly strewn around it. It's filled with notebooks and looseleaf papers covered in pencil markings, doodles of dragons and elves along the margins.
"Where is it..." he mutters as he rifles through the box. His tongue pokes out of his mouth slightly, just like Eddie's did. When he spots the paper, he snatches it with a victorious grin.
"He wrote this for you," Wayne tells her, tears threatening to spill over his lash line as he thinks back on the memory.
"It's finished, and it's perfect!" Eddie exclaims, flinging open the door to his room. He slams the paper on the snack table in front of his uncle, smiling so wide his cheeks start to ache.
Wayne looks over the lyrics and feels a grin tug at his lips, too. "This for that girl in your history class? The one you keep chewin' my ear off about?"
Eddie nods. "That's the one!" He paces around the room, chewing on a fingernail. "Now I just need to ask her to come to a gig so I can play it for her." He looks at Wayne nervously. "What do I say?"
"He was gonna invite you to a Corroded Coffin show after spring break," Wayne tells the girl now. "I'm sorry that he never got the chance."
Her eyes flit over the lyrics, soaking in Eddie's scratchy handwriting:
Blue eyes cryin' And I'll keep tryin' To stop them from cryin' again
She couldn't be sweeter And I would treat her Like the diamond in the rough that she is
I'd give her my heart if it meant that she'd smile And I'd do it again to hold her for awhile There'd be nothin' more divine Than knowing she is mine
So I'm done with pretendin' Want my happy endin' I'm tearing off my disguise
You and me 'gainst the world Let me call you my girl Just show me those pretty blue eyes
She's stunned into silence. "This was for me?" she asks unbelievingly. "He felt this way about me?"
"Oh, yes," Wayne offers a small chuckle. "He was head over heels for ya, darlin'."
"This is going to sound so stupid, because we weren't even dating or anything," she mumbles, forcing herself to look at Wayne, "but I loved him. I swear to you, I loved Eddie so much."
Wayne swallows the lump in his throat, lips quivering. "He loved you, too. Every day he came home, telling me somethin' about you. How you let him borrow your notes, or if you so much as laughed at a joke he told. There was one time where you pulled a little piece of dust from his hair, and the boy talked about it like you were the second coming of Christ."
"Well, I couldn't let him walk around all day with lint in those curls!" She relaxes slightly when she sees Wayne smile.
"And, well, pardon me if this is too forward," he says, "but your eyes; he wouldn't shut up about them! At one point I forgot your name for a bit because I just used to tease him and ask, 'how was Blue Eyes today?'."
She chews on her lower lip before speaking. "I never knew he liked them. Never knew he liked me." She looks up at Wayne. "What might've been, huh?"
Wayne just nods; there's nothing to be said. "You, uh, you keep that song. Keep it with the shirt," he instructs her. "And you read it anytime you start to forget how much he cared about you."
"I'll do that," she promises him, starting for the door. "Thank you."
"And if you see me around town, don't be a stranger. He might not be here anymore, but he'll always be in here," Wayne points to his heart, and she feels herself instinctively doing the same. "When keeping him in there gets to be too much, you come find me."
"Of course." She pulls him in for another hug, this one lasting even longer than the first.
Wayne watches forlornly as she closes the door behind her. He waits until she's far enough away before he speaks again.
"Hang in there, Blue Eyes."

CHAPTER 01: falling asleep in love
masterlist - chapter two
with 4 hours of sleep, and barely anytime to get ready, you quickly grabbed a sandwich made by your mom. thankfully, the bus was still there. you quickly went inside and chose a seat beside the window. you could say it was one of the most comforting seats because of the wind caressing your face and the sight of the buildings you were about to pass by. but, you weren't able to see that as your eyes were slowing closing and you were so close to falling asleep. which, you ended up doing.
sunghoon wasn't worried about being late. he has gotten late numerous times, so why bother keeping up the 'early bird' title? he was surprised, to say the least, when he saw the bus. he was usually too late to catch up with the school bus. without much thought, he went inside and found a seat where he was most comfortable. beside you. suddenly, something quite heavy landed on his shoulder. he looked at you, and you were asleep. he didn't want to seem weird, but he has to admit, you looked so pretty this close, and your tiny snores are the cutest.
+
you were woken up by a voice, and a pat on your shoulder. "yn, wake up. ynnn?" you furrow your eyebrows before looking up at the pretty boy in front of you. he was holding your hand. he was the last person you expected to wake you up, it was the person you just dreamed about a few minutes ago. you were beginning to think if you really woke up or if this was still part of your dream. however, the sound of the bus driver telling both of you to kindly get out made you realize you were in reality.
"sorry, i should go. you should too, class is starting soon." you politely bowed to the boy, but he just showed you a pretty smile. you immediately went out of the bus before you could embarrass yourself further. entering the premises, you spotted your longtime best friend, kim sunoo. and it looked like he was organizing his locker. "sunoo." you greeted him in a not-so-energetic way. you were exhausted at this point.
"yn! oh my gosh, are you okay? you look like someone sucked your soul!" your best friend dramatically replied. "i've only got 4 hours of sleep. this is miss kim's fault, why did she even give that assignment!" you pouted, sunoo on the other hand, was trying his best not to laugh at you for being so miserable. "couldn't be me!" he playfully added, and both of you started walking to your classes. sadly, you and sunoo had different classes this morning. +
the whole time, you were on the verge of falling asleep. and every time this happens, you always do end up falling asleep. thankfully, you weren't in the first row, so your teacher wouldn't notice you sleeping. besides, your teacher probably doesn't even care. he's just here for his paycheck and praises, nothing else.
you were woken up by your seatmate, an yujin, patting your shoulder. which reminded you of what sunghoon did earlier. speaking of sunghoon, yes, you did kind of dream about him during class. he wasn't there, but something reminded you of him, which was a penguin. you didn't know when or how it started, but you suddenly dreamt about him. and not even your best friend — who you tell everything to — knows about it.
your next class was still going to be mr. choi's, so you just got the extra things you needed. you were determined to listen this time, probably. you opened your locker and grabbed the items. you quickly went back to class, but you found a brown paper bag in your seat.
being the curious cat you are, you opened the bag and found a cup of coffee and a bagel. shit. you completely forget about the sandwich your mom made, maybe that's why your stomach kept growling. you sat down, and checked the bag to see if there was a name or something. you thought it might've been delivered to the wrong seat. and you did find a note which was stuck to the bottom of the bag.
"i hope the cup of coffee makes you feel less tired. dont drink coffee with an empty stomach! eat the bagel i gave you. - hoon"
hoon? sunghoon? nah, it couldn't be. besides, its not like he's the only "hoon" in the world. you look around your class to find if there was a "hoon". but, everyone was too busy studying or chatting with their friends. until your eyes met sunghoon's, who smiled at you like he did earlier. confusion was seen all over your face. there's no way this was from him, right?
you felt sorry if ever this wasn't for you. but, you were really hungry at this point and you couldn't care less about the consequences. you just wanted to stop your growling stomach.
however, sunoo saw it all. he saw the way sunghoon smiled at you in adoration and how your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. huh, so that's why sunghoon left, to buy something for you. knowing how shy you both were, he wanted to set you up. with either your or sunghoon's permission, of course. it was safe to say that you were perfect for each other. and it was also safe to say that sunoo is the president of the ynhoon shippers club! +
it was already the next period. luckily, sunghoon had free time because his teacher was sick. he decided to sit on one of the benches with his friends. "sunghoon, bro!" the puppy-like boy, jake, greeted him. along with heeseung, sunoo, and niki. the others were still in class or in training.
after almost 40 minutes of chatting, the group decided to part ways in preparation for their next class. "sunghoon, wait!" he heard sunoo shout.
"oh, do you want to go to class together?"
"yeah, sure", the boy in question replied.
"so… where did you go earlier?"
"i just went to buy something?" he replied, quite unsure of his answer.
"for yn? i could've went with you!" the feeling of betrayal was reflected in his voice. sunoo surely is dramatic.
"what- but how did you know?" this time sunghoon stopped walking, he looked at the pink-haired boy, expecting an answer.
"im sunoo! of course, i know! but yeah, i actually went to your class and saw you put the paper bag on yn's desk."
"oh. im just being nice, that's all!"
"yeah? 'cause when i was tired, you didn't even give me a drink!"
"you didn't need it, you have water."
"and yn doesn't? sounds like you're crushing on her!"
"im not, i said im just being friendly!" sunghoon pouted, trying to find another excuse so that his friend would get the thought out of his head.
"deny all you want, hoon!"
sunghoon sighed as he saw the pink-haired boy run to his class. he hopes sunoo wouldn't spill it. besides, sunghoon thinks he doesn't even like you that way. he's just being nice to you, right? +
after hours of misery, classes finally ended. but, not for sunghoon. he still has training to attend due to the upcoming competition. as he entered the rink, he saw some of his teammates chatting. sunghoon doesn't mind, his friends are quite noisy, so he has definitely gotten used to it. he likes observing people than talking to them. no, he's not a stalker. he just thinks you learn more about a person when you observe their actions instead of their words.
popping his bubble of thoughts, his coach called them and training started. +
you followed sunoo. the coffee you stole or the coffee "hoon" gave helped you feel less tired. you didn't want to go home yet, so you decided to follow the pink-haired boy around the campus. "where are we going?" you ask and continue munching on a bag of chips.
"the skating rink!"
"why so?"
"eh, i dont know. why? is there a problem?" he looked at you suspiciously as if you were hiding something from him.
"no. let's go?" there really was no problem with going to the skating rink. in fact, you went there most of the time. it just felt different this time now that park sunghoon shows up in your dreams. maybe you should stop thinking about him. but, it just made you think about him more. +
you and sunoo went inside the skating rink. you watched the athletes practicing their routines. but, when your eyes found sunghoon, you couldn't stop looking at him. from what you've heard, he's really good at ice skating. but, you didn't expect him to skate this well.
"do you know him?" sunoo suddenly asked, while pointing at sunghoon. "hey, don't point, it's rude! and of course, i know him, he's famous and all." "i know him! if ever you do want to be friends with him, or something more, ill help you!" "there is no one you don't know, sun. also, what do you mean by something mo-"
your words were cut off as you heard a voice interrupt you.
"yn?" you turned around, and you saw sunghoon. wasn't he in the skating rink seconds ago? "hello to you too, hoon" you swear you could see sunoo eyeroll from behind. hold on, "hoon"? "what are you guys doing here?" sunghoon asked. "everything but coming here to see you, of course." sunoo replied, and you saw sunghoon acting like he was hurt by putting a hand over his chest. you hate to admit it, but he looks cute doing the little act.
sadly, sunghoon's coach called him. you heard him apologize, and sunoo saying goodbye.
"byee, hoon." you smiled while showing a small wave. sunghoon looked happy when you mentioned "hoon". "bye, ynnie. good night, sweet dreams" he showed you a smile, this time, it was much more bigger than his previous ones with his eyes showing crescents.
you start to think you're going to dream about him more these days. as if the last ones weren't much…
"hoon and ynnie? since when were you guys on a nickname basis?" you heard sunoo rant while walking home.
"i don't know. i guess i just got lost in the moment?" "so, if you guys kissed… your excuse would be you got lost in-" "YAH, KIM SUNOO!" you started chasing him down the road while he was just laughing his as off. you both stopped when you were both tired, declaring it a night.

Uncover | Seulgi x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Genre/warnings: fluff, angst, homophobia (religious)
Summary: You quickly learn that while it was easy to be dishonest with yourself, it was nearly impossible to lie to Seulgi.
Word Count: 4.7k A/N: This has been something wracking up in my brain since June. It's kind of embarrassing that it's taken this long but it's a lovechild of my emotions. Enjoy, and I hope you feel things.
Date: 9/21/21
You can't imagine a day without her, because she's always been there. Right from the day you could remember. You bet that she could be your last memory too.
Your first memory has you sitting in the living room playing with your toys as you anxiously eye the other child in the room. Some strangers had rung your doorbell and your mom and dad had welcomed them into the house. Now they were in the kitchen, their voices blending into each other in the background.
The small girl in front of you decided to take the liberty of picking up your toys and playing with them. She ran around playing in the imaginary world in her head. You think that she's having fun and that you want to have fun too, but you can't seem to move from your position. As you slowly try to build up the courage to talk to her she approaches you.
She had been glancing at you from the corner of her eyes too. She watched your shy self idly playing all alone. She found it hard to approach you, scared of you pushing her away or being mean, but she thought maybe it was worth it. You could be a friend.
"Hi!" The strange girl is right in front of you with one of your stuffed toys in hand. "Do you want to play with me? I'm Seulgi!"
"I'm Y/N…"
For the rest of the hour the two of you chased each other in a shared adventure. Enraptured in your own little wonderland until your parents had to pull you apart.
Soon it became a ritual for those strangers, who you later learned to be Mr. and Mrs. Kang, to visit your house. Along them was always their daughter Seulgi, who wouldn't hesitate to pull you into a large hug right before starting a new adventure with you.
Tumblr media
You slightly trail behind your best friend. You smile at yourself from the sight of Seulgi happily skipping, somehow filled with even more vigor than she usually has. She's always been filled with much more energy than you, amazed by even the smallest of things. You suppose something truly spectacular must be happening today for her to feel so extra. She turns her head over to look at you, flashing you her perfect smile with her perfect cheeks. The ones you always want to squish when you remind her of how cute she is.
She continues to bounce but slows down to be by your side. One of the favorite parts of your day, and hopefully hers too, would be the peaceful walk the two of you would always share before and after school. It always reminded you of how close you are. How you can always rely on her to listen and to brighten up your day.
She bites her lip while still smiling. She must be thinking about something.
"What's got you so excited today?" You ask her with a giggle.
"Guess!" She pesters leaning into you. A familiar feeling emerges in your chest from the contact.
"You know I'm really bad at guessing…"
"Well why can't you try?"
"All I know is that it has to be something really special, right?" You decide to lean back and push her a little as a tease.
"It is! Mom and dad bought me my favorite ice cream that we can share later today!"
You laugh at her as she continues giving her dumb smile. Seulgi moves in front of you with her eyebrows raised, waiting to hear your opinion about the news.
"Is that it?" You ask still laughing. She pouts a little.
"What do you mean 'is that it'? It's my favorite! And I get to share it with you!" With that you pull Seulgi in for a side hug.
"I'm kidding, I'm excited too."
You enjoy listening to whatever nonsense Seulgi thinks about and decides to spill to you as you guys continue walking. You feel a bit disheartened at the sight of the school building, but looking at Seulgi again is enough to make the disappointment go away.
As much as you wish it did, your schedule wasn't entirely with your best friend. Instead you had to split up as you entered the school grounds to your different classes. Fortunately you shared at least some classes with her, and most importantly lunch. So when you sit down at your desk with nobody talking to you, you don't feel too lonely. The anticipation of being reunited with Seulgi was enough for you.
As usual Seulgi finds your figure sitting down at a lunch table and immediately rushes towards you. She taps your shoulder as she sits down, hurriedly opening up her lunch box, her beastly appetite striking again.
"Oooh." She oogles as the both of you breathe in the sudden aroma of homemade food. You peer over to look at the contents of her lunch box. You swore that you can see the steam coming off of her rice.
"Open up!" Seulgi playfully demands of you. You oblige as she not so carefully throws a grape your way. It would've been lost if you didn't move your head to make up for the completely inaccurate trajectory.
"How are you still bad at this?" You ask her after chewing.
"Maybe I just like to see you work for your food." You laugh at her response as you carefully pick up a spring roll from your box and place it in hers.
"Mom fried it this morning so you better enjoy."
You enjoy the long-time tradition of sharing food and eating in relative silence. That time was short lived though as a small group of girls joined your table. You didn't mind them much, you'd even consider them casual friends. At the same time though, they were bothering you.
You found it strange that despite finally being with Seulgi you felt so lonely. So lost.
Seulgi's popular, you know that. A lot of people try to befriend her and fight for her attention. Being the social butterfly she is she never hesitated to say hello back and return the friendliness. By proxy you met a lot of nice people, a lot of not so nice people, and more. They never really stuck by for you though. They stayed for Seulgi.
You wish you understood why you were so bothered by those that stayed. Why you were always feeling jealous recently. You wonder if it's natural to feel so intensely sick when you watch your best friend's attention be pulled away by several different girls at a time, or laugh at a guys joke. Well, maybe you do know why.
You quietly sigh and push the thought away, instead trying to join in the chatter and laugh with everyone at the table. Just as you were about to calm down and ease into the group a sudden large group of guys and girls approach. One boy in particular seems to be leading the pack. You purse your lips as you silently watch them come over. Seulgi absent-mindedly continues talking, completely unaware of what was about to occur.
You tighten your hands into a ball as a feeling bubbles inside you. You can't place what it is. Is it fear? Anger? Jealously? It's probably both.
The boy also tightens his hands as they grip onto his shirt. You watch him bite his lip and see how a red color crawls up his neck and reaches the tips of his ears. You hold in a breath as he finally arrives at the table and Seulgi looks up at him.
"S-Seulgi." He barely manages to say her name aloud.
"Huh?" She looks at him cluelessly but gives him her full attention anyways.
"I like you! A lot! So if you can, please go out with me!" The boy's words spill out, as if his mouth was a floodgate holding them back. He reaches behinds him and quickly bends over to give Seulgi a piece of red paper, shaped like a heart. He probably wrote about his feelings extensively on it.
Your eyes had been focused on the love-stricken boy. It's hard for you to move your eyes towards Seulgi. You realize now what you're feeling. You fear what you'll see when you look over at Seulgi to see her reaction.
You notice that she's red too, the color slowly blossoming across her cheeks.
Why does this hurt you?
"Erm, ah, thank you." She says out of politeness and bows back. She gives him a smile and that seems to excite him. "I'll think about your confession."
He eagerly nods his head and leaves the table, happy with the results of his actions. The crowd around him seem to think that was a good ending and started whispering and congratulating him. You look back at your table and the girls are murmuring too.
"He's cute, you should definitely go for him!"
"I heard he treated his last girlfriend nicely. They're still on good terms."
"I've never seen you date before. Isn't now your time to explore?"
Seulgi just takes it all in and nods along with what they say. Your head hangs low as you pick at your food. You don't dare look up. You're scared of seeing Seulgi's face again. You're scared that tears will start falling.
It was like the weight of the world had fallen on your chest.
When the bell dismisses you from lunch you quickly go to your next class. You don't say goodbye to Seulgi or any of the other girls. You feel the light graze of Seulgi's fingertips as she tries to stop you, but you're too fast.
The rest of the school day is you trying to focus on studying, and when your last class finishes you're not sure what you'll do. Everybody leaves the classroom before you as you take some time for yourself. Breathing in and out, you mentally prepare yourself to face Seulgi, as if she was some type of monster.
As you exit the building and get near the gates you see a swarm of people with Seulgi in the center. They're probably there to ask about how she feels about the confession that happened. You sigh and almost contemplate leaving without her, but her eyes quickly find yours. Seulgi politely but abruptly says her goodbyes and runs towards you.
As Seulgi's figure grows nearer there's a feeling of satisfaction. It was like you had won some petty fight, and that feeling was able to erase the fear and nerves you had earlier. A smile grows on your face she reaches your side, your bodies automatically matching your steps. You enjoy the warmth when she locks her arm with yours. Not knowing what to say, you let silence fill the space in between the two of you until Seulgi decided to break it.
"So, do you wanna stay at my place for a bit so we can eat that ice cream?"
Tumblr media
Seulgi's keys jingle as she unlocks her front door. You follow in after her, putting your shoes away as she dashes towards her refrigerator to retrieve the ice cream from the freezer. You walk up towards her as she hands one to you. Naturally, both of you make your way outside into her backyard.
Her backyard is quaint, housing a nice garden that her mother often tends and one large tree. The two of you rest under it, appreciating the winding arms of the apple tree that has always given you and Seulgi refuge. You enjoy the taste of the ice cream, perhaps the shade was enhancing its flavor. Either way you understood why its Seulgi's favorite. The refreshing taste and Seulgi's presence puts a smile on your face. You feel yourself opening up again as you guys joke and talk about your day in between bites and licks. By the time you finish eating your ice cream she had managed to convince you that she needed your extra help in math. As always you agreed to tutor her.
She argues that you should stay underneath the tree as she gets up to throw away the trash. You watch as she goes back inside the house, coming out again with a shiny apple in hand that was picked only a couple days ago. You laugh a little as you ask,
"Still hungry?"
"Enough for a little snack."
She sits by you and takes a rest on your lap. You brush her hair away as you look into her eyes. You can tell she's thinking about something.
"What's wrong?" You ask her.
"Well, I was just wondering, why were you upset earlier?" She says in a serious tone.
"Huh?"
"You didn't even say goodbye at lunch, and don't pretend I didn't notice you almost leaving without me." There's a hint of hurt in her voice. You feel bad for not keeping your emotions in check better, that you threw a fit over something so small.
"Well," Your voice trails off as your mind struggles to think of a response, "what does that boy mean to you?" You decide to ask.
"Oh so now you want to know about that too?" There's only a slight annoyance in her voice as she gives you an eyeroll.
"I'm your best friend, of course I'm curious." Seulgi huffs at your response. She can't blame you for wondering so she takes a moment to think before answering honestly.
"I mean, I guess they weren't wrong. He's kinda cute, and I know it took a lot for him to say that to me. I admire him for it." She said it in a casual manner, as if it wasn't a big deal. Yet for you it meant everything. And it hurt.
You can't control the frown that found its way on your face.
"Hey…" Seulgi quickly gets up from your lap. She has a confused expression as her eyes scans yours. "Hey, what's wrong?" Her voice is soft as she puts a hand on your shoulder.
Your chest is about to explode.
"Do you like him or something?" She continues to grip onto your shoulder with a confused face. She thinks she was the one who did something wrong. That she's stealing someone away from you, but that was so different from the truth.
"No, Seulgi, I-" You pause to think about what you're going to say. Something was about to come out instinctively, and you don't know whether or not that was the best decision.
"You what?"
She presses you for an answer but you're still thinking. You're thinking about you know you can't handle her possibly being close to someone else. To share all of her laughs with that boy. To smile at him and spend time with him. To do all the things that exists between you and her. Living would feel wrong if you were no longer the one she ran to and spilled her secrets to.
Who are you if not Seulgi's biggest and only confidant? The only one who could soothe her in her darkest moments? The one who understands every feeling and thought just by the way she blinks?
You're intimately familiar with the feeling in your chest now. You think that you know what it is too, but that doesn't make you hate it any less. If you could, you'd sacrifice every fiber of your being to forget that feeling and throw it away. To pretend it doesn't exist. But your wishes don't make it go away.
You can be dishonest with yourself, but it's impossible to lie to Seulgi. Not when she looks at you like that.
"I like you."
The words are barely a whisper but she hears. Seulgi's hand falls off your shoulder and you want to cry again. You said the wrong thing. She was going to think you're disgusting. She would never go on a walk with you again. You'll never smell her perfume again. You'll never hear her laughter again. She'd never touch you again. Never speak to you again.
Her mouth is open slack. Your eyes water and you breathe in, readying yourself to apologize profusely. To rescind the blasphemous words that slipped out of your foul mouth.
"I'm so sorry. Just ignore it. I take it back. I think I'm sick or something, you know, delirious. Just ignore it please. Please." Tears begins to fall down your face as Seulgi seemingly snaps back to reality. She reaches towards you, taking your face in her hands as her thumbs swipe away the tears.
"Oh my god, no, don't cry." She begs you to stop, but you can't.
"I-I'm, I'm sorry." The tears continue to make their way down your face. A horrible sickness wells in your stomach and suddenly it feels below freezing as you shake uncontrollably.
"No, don't be." She hugs you tight and whispers in your ear. "I like you too. So stop crying. For me, please." She strokes your back as you cry, hoping that the touch could settle you down.
It takes a while for you to register what she says, but as soon as you do your body seizes up. You think that maybe your everything, your soul, has shattered into a million pieces from Seulgi's words. How in the world could it be true? It couldn't be, not in this universe, not in this timeline.
Yet it was.
When Seulgi hears your sniffling stop and your body letting go of its tension she separates her body from yours. Her eyes are all you can see, and all you can see in them is pain.
"I'm sorry for making you worried." You felt guilty that she had to see you cry. The outburst at school wasn't great either.
"Don't worry about it" She reassures you by taking a hand in hers, stroking it with her delicate fingers to show you her affection. For several moments you allow yourself to breathe. Seulgi also took the time to process everything, and the two of you stared at each other with the new understanding of your feelings. Time seems to pass so slowly when you observe each other with care.
"Seulgi…" You mumble when what felt like years passed. She understood what you meant when she saw the way you looked at her lips.
In that moment you couldn't care anymore. Neither could Seulgi, it seemed, as you pressed your lips on hers and she pressed back. Greedily, the two of you dived in for a taste. Your lips on hers, her tongue in your mouth, it was something you needed. It was a flavor you could relish forever, perhaps this is what sin tasted like. Yes, this is what they'd call it. A sin.
Tumblr media
It feels like everything has changed, but at the same time it hasn't. You still spend every second possible with Seulgi. You spend your time doing the same things. Yet everything feels so different, it feels brand new. Magically, it feels better than before. Is this the power that Seulgi has over you?
Nobody knows, nobody needs to know. After all, you're still Seulgi's bestfriend. Is there really anything different? Maybe just the tighter hugs, the kisses, and the alluring smiles, but that's all. Life is easy this way.
After bidding Seulgi goodbye in front of her house you go home to eat dinner with your family. You come home and greet your parents with a smile as you rush to join them at the dinner table. They share that smile as they take note of your enthusiasm recently. As you eat quietly for a while your mom finally asks you what's been going on to make you shine so much.
"Well..." You debate on what to say. It's been over a month since you confessed to Seulgi but you were still feeling high. You've been holding it for so long you wished you could tell someone. Why not them? You want them to be happy with you too. "I've been dating Seulgi."
"Hm?" Your mom asks you somewhat aggressively for clarification. The sudden stillness in the air alarms you. You look up from your food to see your mom staring as your dad stops eating.
"I-I told her I liked her and she liked me back." You say hoping to clear whatever confusion was occuring. Yet the look on your parents didn't fade.
"What happened?" You father's question sounds more like a statement as he sternly places his utensils down.
"What do you mean what happened? I just told you."
"What happened to make you like this?" His cold voices breaks a little as you notice his eyes tearing up. Was he seriously upset about this?
"You're joking, right?" Your mom joins in with an angry tone.
"Of course I'm not. Mom, she makes me really happy." You struggle to keep yourself composed under the scrutiny of both of your parents.
"Y/N. You are not happy. You're messing with the devil right now and he's fucking up your mind."
"Have you not been doing your prayers?"
You can barely fight for yourself at the dinner table. Your parents argue with and over you, about the causes and the whys. About the signs and what happens next. You cry as you watch your decision unfold into your nightmare.
You knew deep down inside this would happen, but you hoped and prayed that it wasn't true. Perhaps Seulgi made you too happy, too brave. Everything else felt like it was going right so you convinced yourself this would too. You've flown too close to the sun and it backfired. You should've never said anything.
As you try to block out the fight unraveling in front of you you could only scream one thing while crying. "Wouldn't God want to love me? Wouldn't He want you to love me too?"
The scrape of the wooden chair echos as your mom shoots up straight. "I will not house some heathen under my roof. Get out until you realize what you've done to this family."
Tumblr media
It's raining. The relentless torrent of water against your body traps in the coldness from the night, leaving you shivering as your feet move on their own. They move to the only other place that feels like home. The only other person that feels like home.
Soon enough you find yourself in front of a familiar door, incessantly knocking. Muffled footsteps come from the other side of the door as you hear locks being undone until the door finally opens. Instantly there's a look of worry on Mr. Kang's face as he takes in the scene in front of him. He quickly ushers you in and shuts the door.
"Who is it?" A voice rings from upstairs.
"It's Y/N!" Mr. Kang yells back, and soon enough you hear a flurry of footsteps coming downstairs. Seulgi, in her tired glory, appears. She rushes towards you as her father went off to find you some towels to dry off with.
"Oh my god, what happened? Why are you here? Are you okay?" Seulgi's honey eyes are glistening with worry. She doesn't seem to care too much about the fact that you're soaked as she embraces you in a hug. Her body soothes you, its warmth penetrating the cold, wet clothes that clung to your body. You let her ground you back to reality before speaking.
"I don't wanna talk about it right now." You barely manage to get the words out. Your throat feels tight, constricted. Throughout the entire time the tears haven't stopped running down your face as it mixed with the rain water. Seulgi rubs your back as her father comes back. Both of them begin patting you dry.
It feels a bit pathetic as you have two people fretting over you so much, but you're too tired to move. Maybe not even tired, but rather stuck in your own thoughts.
"Go get her something to change into. Are you gonna stay the night?" Her dad asks after making Seulgi go back upstairs to find clothes. You just nod in response and follow her.
When you enter Seulgi's room you find her hastily going through her drawers, finding something comfortable for you to wear. After digging through her clothes she hands you some sweatpants and an oversized shirt, much like her own outfit she was sporting. Your hands are in front of you and holding onto the clothing, yet you still can't seem to move much. Instead your lips tremble as you look at the floor. Seulgi sighs as she nears you, unfolding the clothes and looking at your trembling hands.
"Don't make me dress you." She half-teases. When she realizes you can't will yourself to move a grim line stretches across her face. She wonders what has gotten you so riled up to act this way.
Carefully, she removes your clothes and throws them into the laundry pile. Her fingers innocently skim your body as she puts on the clothes for you, with you doing the minimal movements required to help her. Over the years she's already been more than familiar with your body, and the same for you with her touch. Although you can't vocalize it you silently appreciate the care and intimacy she demonstrates.
Soon enough she finishes though and pulls you towards her bed. Sitting you down she places herself behind you after grabbing a dry towel. She begins to dry your hair while letting you stay silent. Another thing you appreciated about her. She let you take your time.
"Seulgi..." Your voice croaks out as if you've aged several decades.
"Yes?" She stops drying off your hair, instead placing the towel down as she wraps her arms behind you and leans forward.
"They know." She doesn't say anything but her body is still for a minute. Afterwards she finishes drying off your hair, at least one of you can stay calm in this situation. That's what you need. "They told me to come back when I come to my senses."
"It's okay. Everything will be okay. We'll figure something out." You let her guide you down on her bed. Your crying had stopped a while back, but the shock coursing through your body didn't. As Seulgi pulled up the sheets and began to hold you you turned around and looked at her. You looked into the eyes that told you everything. Right now they told you that all Seulgi had on her mind was you.
So you think that you should only think of Seulgi too, because you can always forget about the consequences when you're with her. With a kiss on your forehead she tells you to sleep. She gets impossibly closer to you, holding you tight. Holding you as if you are her treasure.
Tumblr media
The familiar trees and houses enter your view as you drive down your childhood neighborhood. Your fingers tap on the steering wheel as you listen to the song Seulgi played in the car. Out of the corner of your eye you see her smile at the thought of visiting her parents. It's enough to make you happy as well.
As you near her parent's house you pass by your own. It's been years since you've been inside, years since you even saw it. You're okay with it though, but your mind still wonders how your parents are doing. You wonder if the house is lonelier now, if they ever think about the sparse letters and phone calls you have exchanged and how they always were fights. Do they know you and Seulgi are coming to visit? Will they want to see you?
Whatever the answer is it doesn't matter. The only family you have to worry about is the girl right next to you and her parents. You feel thankful that she's your first love and hopeful that she's your last. Despite how many times your lives have separated you two, how you both dated other people and had your own quarrels, you guys came back to each other in the end. She changed you during your formative years and supported you as the two of you have grown up.
No one else can make you uncover these sides and feelings like she does.

Used To The Cold — S. Cameron
In which Sarah Cameron comes to a realization after her girlfriend moves across the country.
taglist | main masterlist | 2.0k words
warning(s): none, fluff, i heart sarah <33
Tumblr media
Have you ever lost something that held either so many memories or brought a sort of happiness that just warmed you immediately even at the sight of it? Most people have something like that. Such as for children when it comes to losing stuffed animals or action figures that were a source of comfort, they missed it like hell. Said children grow up and look for a new source of comfort. Some teenagers found it in weed and alchohol, others in sports. For Sarah Cameron, she grew out of the beautiful pink blanket her father had gotten her as a toddler. As she grew into a teenager, she found a new solace.
Her girlfriend.
Sarah made it very apparent to show her love to her girlfriend who, at one point, was just her best friend who she could hardly even bare to be away from. Sarah had known she'd loved Y/n before they even got together by the way Sarah had never felt claustrophobic in the friendship that she held with the other girl. She said the three words within the first six months of being with her, words she had never spoken to another being other than her family. It was a word she, personally, took seriously. For her to say it to Y/n showed the amount of trust she held within her. Trust to not feel so closed off with Y/n.
At the beginning of the relationship, Sarah was glad that not much had changed between the two of them. That Y/n let her have her space whenever she needed it without the dependent need to be together all day though it quickly became backwards. Sarah grew even more clingy to Y/n, hardly able to deal without her hands being stuck to her girlfriend like glue. Whenever they went out to lunch, Sarah played a one sided game of footsies that only brought a smile upon Y/n’s features, one of Sarah’s favorite traits about her. Sarah loved the idea of always having a person to call her own, Y/n seeming to be the one person who could bring out her newfound touchiness. Though, sometimes she pondered on whether Y/n herself was even handling it or if she just ‘put up’ with it. If she did have an indifference towards Sarah’s actions, she surely never showed her disinterest in it.
Though the last time Sarah had held on to her girlfriend felt soul crushing and gut wrenching. As the two of them stood on the creaky, wooden dock just before the ferry, Sarah felt drained. Between the amount of crying she’d done in just the past few days had been enough to make her want to sleep forever and the comfort of her girlfriends arms around her hadn’t helped that feeling. Tears held a steady stream down both of their faces though Sarah was the one who was unable to contain her sobs. People passed around them, solemn looks given to the two of them as they listened in on the sniffles and soft wails.
Y/n didn’t need to be a genius to understand that this was twice as hard for Sarah as it would be for her. Y/n was leaving, miles away that Sarah couldn’t even pin on when the next time she’d being able to hold on to her would be. All she knew was that this embrace that Y/n held on her would be the last one for months and there wasn’t a thing that would be able to make up for it between now and then.
It evoked an indescribable sort of fear within Sarah but she knew it was immutable. If Sarah could, she'd even drop her whole life within Outer Banks to follow her girlfriend across the world. There wasn't much Sarah wouldn't do and there wasn't much Y/n wouldn't do for Sarah either, including the moving date having already been pushed back a month because of Y/n's several arguments with her parents.
"I don't want you to go." sarah whispered as y/n kissed her neck. She could hear the blonde's pained and wavering voice, how affected she already was even as Y/n hadn't even stood on the boat yet.
"I know, lover." the y/h/c girl spoke in a low tone, only sarah able to hear her words of affirmation. Y/n was first to pull back, placing her hands on Sarah's cheeks. The sight of Sarah with puffy eyes and a quivering lip made y/n's heart throb and a guilty feeling blanket over her like a raising tide. "i'll visit. Every chance I get, you know I will."
"It won't be the same." she lamented. Y/n placed her lips against Sarah’s, delicately as if the blonde were made of porcelain. When Y/n's parents had called for her and Ward and Rose had called Sarah away from the dock, Sarah only seemed to want to cling further, fingers pressing further into the thin jacket Y/n worse, but their time had finally run out. Even after weeks of pretending that they had all the time in the world, like nothing could pull the two of them apart, it had happened.
The first few weeks, the whole Cameron house had known Sarah spent most of her nights crying herself to sleep and the entire Y/l/n house knew Y/n was not going to be speaking to them for a little while due to their newest decision. Both groups of parents hadn't known that pulling the duo away from one another would become such a quagmire for each of them.
When Y/n did finally decide to talk to her parents, it was usually to say she was leaving to explore the area in which she refused to get to know the first few days. With a driver license, it gave her just a bit of freedom from her parents who's impromptu decisions had still caused for a tearing in their familial relationship.
Y/n sat in her parked car, a hot beverage in hand to adjust to the cold in which she'd just stood in for five minutes. All of it for a drink that wasn't even that good in her opinion but she dealt with it. With the hand not holding the steaming drink, she opened her phone, smiling immediately at the photo of her and sarah as her background. She unlocked it, scrolling around to find Sarah's contact and setting her phone up against the dashboard. While it began to ring, Y/n situated herself to begin to drive. "Hi, Y/n/n!" Sarah shouted excitedly the second she'd answered.
At her tone of voice did Y/n laugh. The enthusiasm was no surprise but it was funny to Y/n every time. "Hi, baby." She replied, fhe smile remaining on her face as she looked towards the screen. Sarah sat at her desk, her hands under her jaw though a pencil between her fingers. She had focused all of her attention from the papers in front of her to the driver on the other end of the phone. "What are you doing?"
The sound of whizzing paper had made Y/n glance to the phone seeing a math sheet now replacing Sarah's face before she placed it back down, a frown appearing on her features. "Math."
"Didn't you just start like two days ago?" Y/n asked, taking a sip from her drink.
"Yes and this teacher is an absolute bitch. You're just lucky you don't start for another week. You would hate Mr. Henley."
Y/n let out an awfully dramatic gasp. "Um, hello, Mr. Henley was literally my home room teacher last year, I'll have you know. Show some respect." She said, almost missing Sarah's chagrined look as she smiled.
"You're supposed to be on my side here."
"Sorry, i don't believe in biases, Sar." She joked for sarah to let out a small snicker.
"So tell me, how's minnesota?" Sarah asked, trying to spark up a conversation even if the distance was the same thing she wanted to keep her mind off of.
"Oh, it's so great. So many hot people." she remarked.
"You're not funny, no one has ever found you funny." Sarah replied though unable to hold in her laugh along with her girlfriend. "I'm serious. we haven't talked much about it and i don't want to like... avoid your new life now."
Y/n sighed, looking towards the phone to see Sarah looking back down at her work in front of her. "Fine. Well, it doesn't particularly suck. The no surfing part definitely does, though, but what can you do. And the coffee here... no, its just so bad, babe. granted, i only had one, and it's in my cup holder right now but it's gross."
"My coffee making is better, right?" Sarah asked as Y/n gave a hefty nod.
"So much better, even if it is the only thing you're good at making." Y/n laughed and Sarah attempted to refuse a smile, her cheeks quivering from trying to keep it down. "But the weather dropped today, randomly. It was seventy yesterday, fifty today but i think i'm getting used to the cold."
Sarah lifted her head back to the phone, watching Y/n focus on driving, her eyes diverting on places away from the screen. Sarah but at her inner cheek, drumming her fingers against the white wood that rested under her forearms. "Used to it?" Sarah asked. She knew Y/n's move was permanent at least until she was eighteen but something about those words made it seem more realistic. She was getting used to a place that wasn't home.
Y/n hummed. "Yeah, i'm probably being dramatic. I saw a guy walking around in a tank top and shorts while i'm wearing double pair of socks right now." she grinned at her own comment though picking up on Sarah's sudden discomfort when she replied with a small 'wow'. "Lover?"
"Yeah?"
"What's going on?" Y/n asked, the car slowing to a stop at a red light.
Sarah quickly shook her head. "No, it's nothing. Just... the work. Keep your eye on the road."
"Sarah." The blond recognized the tone of voice quickly.
"Just... I just fully realized how permanent this is. I won't see you until, what? December? That's a long time, Y/n! And, i get it, it's your home now and i can't do anything about it but—"
Y/n was quick to cut her off. "I never said this is home. Sure I live here but it's just a couple walls and a roof. It's not home, Sarah." Y/n began. "Home is you. And trust me, i've been missing home the second i got on that ferry."
Despite them having to look at one another through a glass screen the feeling—the connection between the two of them was still felt. Sarah could feel the normal warm feeling she would've gotten whenever Y/n would simply hold her hand or brush her hair over her ear. she held that much of an effect on Sarah in person and somehow even thousands of miles away.
Sarah hadn't even realized she had been staring for a total of twenty seconds until a singular tear fell down her blushing cheeks. she quickly sniffled, recomposing herself as she wiped it away. "Are you seriously making me cry right now?" She muttered with the way the atmosphere had become though relishing in the way Y/n laughed in response.
"Yes, thank you for ignoring everything i just said, lover." Y/n put the car back in drive as the light went green. Due to the steets being relatively empty in her new small town, she took the time to look back over at the phone to Sarah. "I love you."
Sarah's smile widened in thag very moment, pursing her lips before pushing them out. "I love you more."
"And don't worry. I won't get to used to it. I'll be back home, to you, before you even know it." Y/n took a small glance to the phone, enjoying Sarah's gaze that showed even with the distance put between the two of them, they'd be fine.

Chris Evans One Shot
Hi, first of all i think i read al your writings today and they are perfect!! I saw that you take request and had an idea about chris evans and (younger) reader. Maybe one where they are doing an interview together or maybe one were they have to roast each other. Or maybe something where they read each others thirst tweets and they are kinda in love with each other. ( i know those are a lot ideas, just chose whatever en whenever you want to write them) 🤣♥️
I have a request if you’re taking them. Maybe you could write one about Chris Evans and reader doing an interview and it’s really light hearted and childish cuz we know how Chris is😂but just a lot of fluff really. Thank youuu, sending lots of love xx
Tumblr media
The nerves were setting in as you and your costar Chris Evans waited to start your latest interview.
"Are you guys ready?"
You look behind the camera to the buzzfeed rep and nod.
"Hi guys, I'm Chris Evans"
Chris starts when prompted.
"And I'm Y/F/N Y/L/N and we are reading thirst tweets."
You finish the intro with a nervous  smile.
"Ladies first."
Chris says, handing you the bucket.
'@yourtwittername is the whole reason I lost no nut November...I ain't mad tho'
You read out the first one, your heart pounding.
"He probably lost like 100 bucks Y/N!"
Chris jokes as he laughs.
"Wow. My bad dude. Better luck next year?"
You shrug as you answer the tweet laughing, finally feeling more relaxed.
'I would let Chris Evans rail me in the backseat of a car in a Walmart parking lot'
Chris reads his first tweet, turning bright red as he does.
"Who wouldn't, am I right ladies?"
You say, winking to the camera.
"Jeez. Walmart? Can't even go to like a Target or something?"
Chris says.
'@yourtwittername is living her best life being surround by all these sexy daddies all the time.'
You giggle.
"It is a true blessing in my life. All of these sexy older men I get to spend time with. Sebastian, Mackie, Hemsworth. Oh and Evans is cute too I guess."
Chris fakes offence and you stick your tongue out at him.
During this press tour, you and Chris had gotten a lot closer and become pretty good friends.
Despite the fact that you were in your early 20's you actually had a lot in common and felt comfortable with him.
To you it was all just playful banter and great chemistry but to anyone and everyone around you, it was pretty clear that the two of you were harboring some pretty strong feelings for each other.
'That is americas ass and I want to bite it.'
"That line is going to haunt me for the rest of my life."
Chris says with an exaggerated sigh.
"I don't know dude, Mackie might take over that mantle. He and Sebastian have talked about how his ass is better than yours more than once."
The crew behind the camera laughs, remembering when Sebastian and Mackie had done their video and said exactly that.
"Mackie can have the title. I'm ok with that."
Chris says with a chuckle.
'I would let @yourtwittername suck chocolate off my toes.'
You scrunch your face in disgust as you read.
"Maybe so but, she wouldn't do it. No offense if that's your thing but just no."
You fake gag.
'I'd let Chris Evans snap my back like a glow stick.'
Chris stares at the paper, reading it over and over again as you laugh.
"I think y'all fried his brain."
You turn towards him, rubbing his back.
"Chris, sweetie, the tweet can't hurt you."
He mocks a laugh as he crumples up the paper and tosses it behind him.
'If Chris Evans doesn't wife @yourtwittername up soon...imma have to do it.'
A chorus of 'awws' come from the crowd behind the camera as you and Chris look at each other, unsure of how to address this particular tweet.
"Should we tell them?"
You finally say with a sly smile on your face.
"I don't know if they can handle it."
Chris replies, catching on.
"Alright guys, you are all the first to know...Chris and I...."
You trail off for dramatic effect.
"Are just friends."
You both say together and laugh.
'i want chris evans to rail me until i cant walk... is it to much to ask for'
"Jeez seems like your schedule is getting pretty full there Mr."
You laugh.
"Jealous?"
He says, side eyeing you.
"Nah, I'm more of a Sebastian Stan kinda girl."
You playfully nudge him.
"All the girls love Sebastian."
He replies, playing hurt.
"It's those steel blue eyes. They let you know where home is."
You shrug, quoting your favorite Mackie line.
"Well guys, that was the last one and thank God for that."
Chris says with a chuckle.
"Oh come on you big baby, those weren't that bad!"
You roll your eyes.
"Yours weren't maybe."
The two of you playfully banter a little longer before waving goodbye to the camera and the interview ends.
"You guys were great! Thanks for doing this."
The producer says as the set assistants take your mics off.
"Thanks for having us."
You smile at her.
"I'm starving. Y/N, you wanna grab lunch?"
Chris asks as the two of you head out of the building.
"Yes please."
You eagerly answer before climbing into the waiting car, you and Chris heading off for food before the rest of your long day of press together.

YOUR EYES TELL | JJK (08)
Tumblr media
Summary: You live in a world where people see in black and white. The solution to finally see the colors? It's simple. You need to meet your soulmate and look at him in the eyes, but what if the person bound to you is already contented with the monochromatic world? What if...Jeongguk, your soulmate, is already in love with someone else?
Alternatively:
"A future without you is a world without color."
Genre: soulmate au, e2l, slow burn, angst, fluff, roommate au
Pairing: Artist!Jungkook x Lawyer!Reader
Word Count: 3.6k
Series: CHAPTER 7 | CHAPTER 9
warnings: unrealistic court happenings i am not a lawyer ok mention of physical abuse, drinking problems, child trauma, mental illness, and infidelity. I want to build a whole new world in this fic that’s why i also didn’t research about divorce trials I’m sorry. OC is kind of annoying/disappointing in this chapter (?) or not (?) Young Choi Soobin of TXT is the kid in this chapter’s moodboard
Tumblr media
Jeongguk was the ex-boyfriend Red was talking about.
You figured this out when you were at Seokjin's party. Frankly, the way your soulmate was looking at Red was already a giveaway, but then you had to confirm it yourself.
The only way to do that was to either confront Jeongguk or your assistant.
You chose neither and it was because you were afraid to hear what they would or wouldn't say. This being said, you resorted to your last option.
"Come on..." It was hard to sit on the floor when you're wearing a damn long dress, but this didn't stop you from rummaging through Red's personal things.
It's the middle of the night. You left Jeongguk at your apartment right after he reached his high.
You just wanted to teach him a lesson for being a brat. He was always so rude to you and you honestly thought that he was just in denial—that soon enough, he would realize that you two were really destined to be together.
Apparently, that wasn't going to happen.
You went to your office at one in the morning just to find something that would verify your speculation. You got what you wanted. The photograph of Jeongguk kissing your assistant confirmed it.
Your tears fell.
You didn't know why you felt betrayed. It wasn't like they wanted this. They hadn't done anything wrong. Fate was just cruel. Why didn't you meet Jeongguk first? You couldn't blame him for falling in love with Red—she was sweet, beautiful, and smart. Anyone would definitely like her, so you had no choice but to swallow the lump in your throat and accept this.
You just had to pretend like everything was alright.
It wasn't.
The divorce trial was near and there were still so many things you had to fix. Work was seriously draining the hell out of you and it wasn't like Jeongguk was helping. He was actually adding up to the stress you were feeling.
Jeongguk was giving you the silent treatment and no—it wasn't the type of silence you were used to. Before Seokjin's party, your soulmate was quiet, but not really. He would occasionally huff to let you know that he was annoyed at you. He would also stamp his feet and slam the door just to spite you.
You didn't mind. You knew he was just being a brat; however, things were different now.
After the night of Seokjin's party, Jeongguk changed. He was eerily silent, always avoiding eye contact with you.
You tried talking to him. Regrettably, you were only greeted by stillness.
"You want pizza, Gukkie?"
Nothing.
"Have you watched the latest episode of Start-up?"
Still nothing.
"Did you have a good sleep?"
Nope. Nothing. Nada.
"Wanna make out on the couch?"
Jeongguk's head jolted to your direction. His eyes were wide, cheeks turning crimson because of your bold statement.
"Hey!" You giggled, clearly happy with his reaction. "You finally looked at me!"
Jeongguk shook his head and then he went straight to his room.
You were unbelievable.
You pouted your lips, giving up. You had a feeling that he would come around.
He did. Days later, Jeongguk surprised you when he stood right in front of the door of your apartment. He was blocking your way out.
"Gukkie, I'm going to be late." You sighed. He reminded you of Miri, your cat that's always trying to stop you from leaving.
"You can't leave." His jaw clenched.
You let out a breath once again.
"Don't do this please. Mr. Kim needs me,"
The trial was happening today. You needed to run down a few things with your client before you go to the court room.
"You just don't get it, do you?" Jeongguk folded his arms over his chest.
You stared at him.
"I don't get what?" It was hard to keep your composure when the thing you had been trying to avoid for so long was being rubbed in your face. You knew exactly what Jeongguk was implying.
"—that you want me to drop this case because you want Red all to yourself?"
Jeongguk froze. What was the point of staying silent when you always knew what was running inside his head?
You just always knew.
"You don't have to pretend that you care about Soobin's well-being. I have enough people doing just that," you slightly pushed Jeongguk to the side so that you could pass through the door.
Ah, people.
They're all the same, always trying to conceal their self-interest by pretending that they care for others.
You liked Jeongguk—actually; you were convinced you loved him. He was your soulmate after all, but sometimes love wasn't enough to just give into what he wanted.
This wasn't about your relationship. This was about Soobin's welfare. He's just a child. You were a lawyer who swore an oath to protect the oppressed and incapable. You were their voice.
It sounded cheesy, but this was the type of person you aspired to be. The world was already dark, it wouldn't hurt to be someone's light.
Jeongguk didn't understand your reasons. It was evident when he showed up in court to watch you defend Kim Seokjin.
At first, you thought your eyes were failing you. Was he really here? Was he really the man at the back of the room wearing that big hoodie?
It was him. The familiar scowl on his face said so. Jeongguk was the only person who looked at you like you had offended his whole family.
"All rise!"
You turned to your client upon hearing the bailiff's demand.
"It's going to be alright," assured by you.
Seokjin smiled. He was looking at Red instead of you. He needed the comfort of his soulmate.
Red grinned back. She wasn't worried. She trusted you. She was certain you would succeed. Soobin wasn't going to be taken away from his father.
The first few minutes of the trial went smooth. You had your story straight and with the way the judge was nodding; you instantly knew she was in favor of your side.
Unfortunately, things started to go ugly during the cross-examination of witnesses.
Jung Hoseok was the first one to take the stand. He was the expert witness.
"You are the marriage counselor of Mr. and Mrs. Kim for months now, right?"
"Yes." Hoseok answered the opposing counsel. It was weird seeing him this serious. Your friend was always grinning, but you told him to try to keep a neutral face. This way, the judge and the jury wouldn't know if he was caught off guard by the question of the other side's attorney.
"Mr. Jung, is it true that marriage counselors rarely suggest divorce to their clients?"
"Depends—" Hoseok bit his tongue. You told him to simply answer yes or no. Be responsive to the question and never explain. "I mean, yes."
"And yet here we are..." Ms. Choi, the opposing attorney, shrugged her shoulders.
"Objection!" You stood up. "Relevance?"
You didn't understand why Ms. Choi asked that question to Hoseok when she's just shrugging it off now.
"Sustained." The judge felt the same way.
Ms. Choi raised her hand as if surrendering.
"My bad. I'm just curious, you know? If Mr. Jung is indeed an effective counselor, then why did he suggest that the Kim couple push through the divorce?"
Ms. Choi was furrowing her brow at Hoseok.
"Isn't that true, Counselor Jung? You told Mrs. Kim that it's better to end her marriage with Mr. Kim?"
"Yes." The expert witness answered truthfully.
The opposing side's attorney smiled mockingly.
"It's because you feared for Mrs. Kim's safety, right?"
"What?" Jung Hoseok was lost.
"Come on, Mr. Jung you know exactly what I am talking about! You found out that Mr. Kim is an alcoholic and you are scared that he might harm Mrs. Kim and Soobin, right?" Ms. Choi pointed at the five year old kid who was busy coloring books in the far corner of the room. He was with Seokjin's mother.
"Objection, Your Honor! Compound question!" You glared at Ms. Choi.
"Sustained." The judge clenched her jaw. "Ms. Choi, separate your questions. You are misleading the jury..."
Ms. Choi was flustered, yet she still held her head high. She knew she had the upper hand here.
"Is Mr. Kim alcoholic, Mr. Jung?" She tried again.
Hoseok cleared his throat.
"He had a history of abusing alcohol years ago."
"And you know this because you're also a licensed alcohol and drug counselor, correct?"
"Yes..."
"And Mr. Kim Seokjin also told you about his issue with regard to alcohol abuse?"
"Yes." Hoseok swallowed hard.
There were papers that could attest to Hoseok's claim. This was a win for Mrs. Kim. You could see her growing sarcastic smile that was directed at Red.
You inhaled deeply.
"Mr. Jung, can you please tell us the rate of patients going through alcohol relapse?"
"Uh, it's sixty to ninety percent after the first year of treatment," answered by Hoseok.
"I see. How long has it been since Mr. Kim sobered up?"
"As far as I know, it has been three years."
"Huh." Ms. Choi crossed her arms. "So is there a possibility that Mr. Kim would experience an alcohol relapse?"
"Yes."
"What's the statistical probability, Mr. Jung?"
"About fifty percent high." Hoseok looked dejected. He wanted to help Seokjin win the case, but he couldn't lie.
"I see." Ms. Choi was smiling as if she had already won the case.
"Can you tell us now the effects of experiencing an alcohol relapse? Or a slip?"
Hoseok's palms were sweating. Slip was one episode of drinking alcohol after trying to stay sober. Relapse, on the other hand, was the return to unhealthy behavior. Slip wasn't always followed by a relapse.
Hoseok also explained that there were different stages of relapse. Emotional relapse could cause suppression of emotions, becoming more isolated, trying to blame other people, and aggression, especially when they were confronted. There's also mental and physical relapse which included glamorizing alcohol and compulsive desires to drink.
"No further questions, Your Honor." The corner of Ms. Choi's mouth turned up upon realizing that the jury was in favor of their side now.
You had to step up your game.
The next witness was Son Chae-young. She was Soobin's babysitter. Chae-young had been living with the Kims ever since Soobin was born. She's a witness testifying against Seokjin.
Chae-young cleared her throat when your eyes landed on her. She already felt uncomfortable because of the way you were looking at her.
The way you stand up—shoulder down, neck long—was intimidating.
"You have a really nice necklace, Ms. Son."
Chae-young flinched upon hearing your compliment. She was confused. Mrs. Kim and Attorney Choi told her that you were scary, this was evident by the way you present yourself, but then...the way your eyes light up made her feel at ease. Your voice was soft too.
"Ah...thanks," regardless of your sweet persona, Chae-young still couldn't help but feel embarrassed. Why were you looking at her as if she was important? As if you were here to protect and not cross-examine her?
"Is it from Cartier?"
"Yes!" The babysitter beamed at you as she touched her pretty jewelry.
You smiled warmly at her.
"Did you buy it yourself?"
"Objection! Relevance?" The opposing lawyer clenched her fist. She was shaking, causing you to smile bigger. Guess she knew what was coming to her, huh?
"I'm getting there, Your Honor," said by you. Your expression screamed confidence that the judge was compelled to believe you.
"Overruled."
You continued.
"So...Ms. Son, did you buy that necklace? Or is it a gift?"
"Uh..." Chae-young's lips trembled. She was looking at Mrs. Kim, as if she was asking for her boss' help. "I-I bought it for myself..."
"I see." You nodded. Humoring her. "Do you have any other job aside from babysitting Kim Soobin?"
The nanny shook her head.
"N-No. I'm a full-time nanny of Mrs. Kim's son." Chae-young's lips were still shaking; her eyes were quivering as well.
"Hm, interesting..." You went closer to the witness. "That means you're earning what? Two hundred fifty dollars a month?"
"Objection, Your Honor! I still can't see the relevance of this!" Ms. Choi was losing her mind.
You turned to glare at her.
"Can’t you really see the relevance of this or are you just scared?"
You heard the judge's hit the gavel; she was calling your attention.
"Get to the point right now." The judge demanded at you. It was this or your statement was going to be sustained.
"I am merely establishing my point, Your Honor." Your voice was rough. "The necklace Ms. Son is wearing is worth four thousand three hundred dollars. I know because I have the same necklace and it took me, a lawyer, months!" You paused for a while just to emphasize the word months, "to buy it."
You turned to Chae-young when the judge remained silent.
"So tell me, Ms. Son, how can a full-time nanny like you who's earning minimum wage buy that kind of luxurious jewelry? Huh?" You were standing too close to the witness so Attorney Choi used this as an opportunity to object.
"Your Honor, she is badgering the witness!"
"Overruled." But the judge wasn't having any of it. "Answer the question, Ms. Son."
"I'm sorry!" The nanny's face twisted in fear. "Mrs. Kim bought it for me—"
"It's a gift!" Mrs. Kim blurted out, unable to contain her anger anymore. God. She hated you. "I bought it for her last month! It's my birthday gift for her!"
You smirked. Attorney Choi was panicking. She was caressing Mrs. Kim's hand, telling her to calm down.
Sadly, Mrs. Kim could not be stopped.
"Why am I explaining to you when you have no right to question my intention! It's my money so I get to decide what to do with it!"
She was yelling at you and it almost made you laugh. Why was she so defensive?
"May I remind you that you are a married woman, Mrs. Kim? You have to consider your husband's decision when it comes to spending that amount of money." You said this while glancing at the jury.
Base on their expressions, you knew that they agreed with you. This was a win on your side. One of the valid reasons of Seokjin for wanting a divorce was this. Mrs. Kim didn't know how to manage their assets.
You weren't done, though. You had to discredit the witness. You had to win the jury's side in all aspects.
"And you said you bought it last month for Ms. Son's birthday?" You shook your head, focusing your eyes at the nanny.
"Tell us, Ms. Son, when is your birthday?"
Mrs. Kim's face became pale upon hearing your question.
"January seventeen...”
You turned your attention back to Mrs. Kim again.
"Your birthday present is many months late, Mrs. Kim. Either that or you're just lying to hide the fact that you gave Ms. Son the necklace in exchange of testifying against your husband—"
"Objection—"Attorney Choi tried to stop you, but you cut her off too.
"Isn't that right, Ms. Son? You are bribed by your boss to say that you always see Mr. Kim Seokjin drinking alcohol—"
"Your Honor—" The opposing attorney was losing control, her objections were drowning because of how loud your voice was.
"Mrs. Kim wants you to lie! To say that her husband isn't a good father! That he isn't a good influence to Soobin!"
"Yes!"
You stopped trying to pressure Chae-young because it already worked. She admitted the truth.
"Mrs. Kim bribed me!" The babysitter sobbed, looking at you like you were the Lord and she was a sinner.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I-I can't say no, please...please...I need this job!"
"You bitch!" Mrs. Kim abruptly stood up. She wanted to attack you; fortunately the security officers were able to stop her.
The jury was surprised to see Mrs. Kim's violent reaction. You, on the other hand, didn't even flinch.
You were used to this kind of scene. Besides, you couldn't get sidetracked. You still needed to prove your point.
And so you faced the jury.
"Is this the kind of person that you want to raise a sweet, innocent five year-old kid?"
One of the members of the jury clutched her chest. She was affected by what you had said. Truthfully, they were almost decided to grant the sole custody to Mrs. Kim; however, upon seeing the latter's behavior, the jury was having second thoughts now.
"Just look at her!" You pointed at Mrs. Kim who was still seething with rage.
"She constrained an adult! Imagine the bad things she could force Soobin to do! Mrs. Kim is a manipulator!" You raised your voice dramatically.
"My actions are nothing compared to what that asshole is doing!" Mrs. Kim screamed as she angrily pointed at her husband.
She was crying.
Kim Seokjin was quiet. He was shocked by your responses. He didn't expect you to be this bold. You were different from the lawyer he thought he knew.
You didn't have any limit. You didn't know when to stop just to prove a point.
"He's teaching my son that it's okay to be unfaithful to your wife! Jury, please!" Mrs. Kim was desperate. "Don't let him come near my son! He's a drunken bastard!"
The judge was hitting the gavel again. There were too much drama and unnecessary comments from Mrs. Kim.
You shook your head. You couldn't stop now. The jury was undecided. They changed their minds from time to time. You could see sympathy in their eyes as they looked at the wife.
"Mr. Kim Seokjin is sober! You should be ashamed of yourself, Mrs. Kim! You keep blaming your husband when you're the reason why he turned alcoholic in the first place—"
"Objection, Your Honor!" Attorney Choi glared at you. "The attorney is assuming facts!"
You disagreed before the judge could say sustained.
"Am I?" You smirked at the judge before turning to your table to get your evidence.
Seokjin looked at you nervously.
"Please tell me you're not doing what I think you're doing," groaned by your client.
You were blinded by your role as a lawyer, so you ignored Seokjin's plea.
"Don't do this..."
Seokjin was already too late.
"I have here the evidence that will prove that Mrs. Kim is the reason why her husband turned alcoholic."
You brought out the printed photos of Seokjin's beaten up face. Bruises, cuts, and other physical injuries were seen.
The jury gasped. Attorney Choi was groaning as she told the judge that these photos were not entered into evidence.
You were playing dirty, but so were they. Ms. Choi told you that they wouldn't bring Mr. Kim's sobriety issue in this court. She lied.
"These pictures are given to me by Mrs. Kim Sunghee, Seokjin's mother." You glanced at your client's mother.
"She knows that her son's wife was assaulting him. Seokjin didn't want to feel his wife's punches so he resorted to drinking the pain away. Mr. Kim just wants to be numb."
"N-No..." Your client's tears streamed down his cheeks. He was calling your name, begging you to stop.
It felt like everyone was begging you to stop; even Sunghee was shaking her head.
It was wrong. This was a mistake. Seokjin's mother realized this when Soobin began to cry. He was silently crying at first, but when the little boy saw the photos in your hand, he started hyperventilating.
"Appa!" Soobin's eyes dilated. He could barely breathe.
Mrs. Kim stood up to attend to her son.
"Soobin!" Mrs. Kim was wailing.
Things were becoming messy.
You didn't understand what was happening, so you just stood there.
"Appa! A-Appa is hurting!" Soobin was losing it; his eyes were rolling in the back of his head.
"Call 911!" Red shouted.
The noise was deafening.
You still didn't get what was happening.
Seokjin went near you.
"I told you not to do it!" He shouted, snatching the photos away from your shaky hands.
"This isn't about me or my wife!" Seokjin continued to scream at you.
You were stunned.
Your client was blaming you.
This is your fault! Seokjin said.
You were wrong. You didn't have to bring out these photos because apparently, Soobin knew.
He witnessed how his mom used to beat up his father.
The poor kid was traumatized.
He had to get some help.
His parents thought he had recovered.
It had been years.
The thing about trauma was, it never went away. It was there—silently sleeping and waiting for that one thing that would trigger it.
You triggered Soobin.
"I-I didn't know..." Your voice was low as you stated your excuse.
No one wanted to hear your lame excuse, not even Jeongguk.
You looked at your soulmate once.
You looked at him desperately.
You looked at him hoping that he would understand—like he would comfort you.
He would never.
Jeongguk had this look in his eyes, the kind of feeling that expressed disappointment.
Jeongguk was disappointed in you.
It was clear because right now, he was shaking his head as if you had done the most horrifying thing in the world.
He shook his head before leaving you all alone.
No one wanted to be with you.
You were a disgrace.

¤~°Scary Monsters! Screaming Halloween Show: Spooky Sweet°~¤
(Y/N) and Yuu felt the warmth of the sun on their backs as the two walk to Ramshackle. The two quiet as Grim chatters about on Yuu's shoulder. "Yuu, um.. Where exactly were you from before Twisted Wonderland?" The female dorm leader asked her vice dorm leader.
(Even though she thought Yuu would be suited much better as dorm leader.)
Yuu shrugs his shoulders lightly so Grim won't fall. His left hand and right hand carrying two bags, while (Y/N) carried the other bags with ease. "To be honest, I'm not really sure.. I don't really have time to think about it."
Yuu said plainly to (Y/N)'s question. The (h/c)-nette hummed in response. Not minding the young males simplistic wording. Instead she just smiled at him, "I'm from (Y/H), well... From what I remember."
She answered simply, like Yuu. "Huh. Really? I think I remember a place like that on the map, I don't think I've ever been there." (Y/N) (e/c) eyes widen, "maybe I could show you around if you ever visit! I think you would like it."
Yuu nods, smiling back at his crush. "Sure, I wouldn't mind." (Y/N) ruffled Yuu's head, his locks turning slightly messy. The male huffs at her antics as Grim laughs. "Sorry, couldn't help myself, you look cute when you pout. Kinda like Riddle!"
The female joked, Yuu only shakes his head as the two were finally on NRC grounds. Grim hops off Yuu shoulder and fly to Ramshackle without the two. Chanting that he wants to eat tuna. "Grim..!"
Yuu calls out to the furball, who didn't hear Yuu. "Fnga!! A monster!" Grim cries as a paper dragon was covering the Ramshackle grounds. Not seeing the students scattered around the area. Working diligently on decorating the whole place.
(Y/N)'s mouth turns into a excited grin, while Yuu looks at it confusingly. Not knowing of the spooky event they would soon participate in!
_______________________________________________
(Y/N) hears a knock on the Ramschakle dorm, curiously. She gets up from her spot on the couch and goes to open the door. Unlocking the front door, the female looks around the area. Not a single ghost, person, beastman, fae, in sight. Only a lonely brown package at the bottom of the floor.
(Y/N) picks up the box carefully and takes it inside. When walking to the lounge room, the three ghosts that lived in Rambschakle float down stairs to see what's up. (Y/N) sits back on the couch, with the average sized box sitting on her lap. "Did you three order something?" (Y/N) asked undead friends, the three shook their heads.
"I wonder what's in it?" One of three spoke up."Maybe it's something from the headmaster?" (Y/N) nods, "it could be.." She mutters quietly to herself.
(Y/N) opens the package with hesitation in each of her movements. A piece of (color) neatly folded fabric was in the box. "Huh?" Taking the fabric out, it reveals to be a lot more fabrics!?? (Y/N) and three ghosts look over the first piece of cloth and fabrics that had been in the box.
While the other colorful fabrics still sat at the bottom of the package. "Why is this here..?" (Y/N) asked, holding the (color) cloth up in front of three ghosts. "It must be left overs from the Diasomnia dorm!" The chubby ghost shouted in glee.
"Oh, right! It was probably for their costumes for the Halloween event!" The young female said, but was still puzzled. "Where did this even come from..?" "It came from the box," the smaller ghost said. "Right.. what I meant was, who sent it here?"
Pouring out the fabrics from the box to see if there was a note, or a price tag, nothing was there. "Strange.." The slinky ghost said as he rubbed his chin. (Y/N) could agree with that, but she was more drawn to the cloths scattered around on the couch. A idea pops in her head as she folds up the cloths and lays the dress on the couch.
"I think I got a idea on what to use this for. You three, please protect the stuff on the couch and watch over Yuu and Grim. I need to get some stuff from Mr. Sams shop!" (Y/N) ran out of Ramshackle and tried not to knock into the paper dragon that Senior Vanrouge and his other dorm members worked on.
Not seeing Yuu's confused stare from one of the Ramshackle window's. Once she had returned, she had a pumpkin in one hand. A bag in the other. "It's time to REALLY get into the spirit of Halloween!" (Y/N) placed the pumpkin on the counter and heads up stairs to Yuu/Grims room.
Not before taking the "mystery" box with her.
______________________________________________
It was finally Halloween week! The decorations and costumes were ready. The Halloween committee had decided to drop by Ramshackle to make sure everything was in order. "Wow, everything looks great!" Kalim said with enthusiasm as his ruby eyes shined.
Mallues turns a bit smug after Kalim priase. "Thank you, the Di dorm worked very hard on this." Lilia chuckles at the dorm leader and his haughty tone. Cater takes a few pics, while Deuce looks around. "Where's (Y/N), Yuu and Grim? Shouldn't they have met up with us now?"
"Maybe something came up?" Epel said, looking around the area as well. Vil sighs, "being fashionably late is not something you should do." Jack ears perk up as footsteps came towards the group. "I hear something, I think their on there way here."
Jack was most definitely right about that! Grim came to the group first before the dorm leaders. "Nyaha! Stare at the AMAZING Grim and his awesome costume!" The little feline shouted in pride and glee. His little hat tipping a bit.
"Grim! You're a ghost for Halloween?" Deuce questioned Grim, the furball gives a toothy grin. "Of course!" "What about the others.." Idia asks quietly.
A tired sigh escaped a familiar vice-prefect. Yuu showed a few steps behind Grim. "Hey guys, sorry for being late." Yuu apologized, yet the student didn't look exactly like himself at all! Yuu was dressed up today.
Yuu wore loose white shirt and a slightly grayish vest that had a tail coat attached behind him.The vest had small spider web designs that were a light shade blue, even some at the tail coats end. A pair of simple white pants and shoes. Yuu hair was rather messy, but looked very fluffy.
The final touch was a blue bow-tie that wrapped around his neck.
"You two look great!" Cater said as he started to take a few photos. "Not bad, Yuu!" Deuce says as he pats his friends back rather harshly. Yuu does his best not to double take and nods at his fellow first year.
"Thanks. You should tell (Y/N) and the ghosts that. They worked hard on them."
Almost like a genie being called. The female appeared before the group. "I'm glad you guys liked it." The (h/c) haired female said. "I had no clue what to do durring costume making, I'm greatful the ghosts had helped out."
The dorm leader says bashfully, rubbing the back of neck. "So.. What do you think!" She said with smirk, a creepy gleam in her eyes. The Halloween committee stares at her with awe.
(Y/N) wore a (f/c) dress that had bits of rips and tears. A few peices of uneven fabric hanged off her dress, almost like someone had clawed at it. Splashes of fake blood covered some areas of the dress. A simple white sash was also on her dress, covered in hints of fake blood as well. The sash said "Queen" on it in pretty hand writing.
A plastic tiara was placed crookedly on her head head. Her hair (styled/same). She held a knife in her hands that was drenched in fake blood. "Pretty cool right?" (Y/N) asked the the group.
A confident smile on her face as she waited for someone to respond. Surprisingly, Idia was the first to talk. "You look so.. MOE!" Idia fanboys internally at her costume.
Azul doesn't comment on his friends wording, he just stares at (Y/N) choice of outfit. "What was your thought process for these costumes, (Y/N)?" Jade asked for Azul. Even if the Leech brother was also in slight shock. Which was uncommon to him most days.
(Y/N) swings the knife around, like she was playing hot patato with it. But stops after Jade asked his question. "Er.. well you see. In Yuu's and my world, there was a story or song.. I can't really remember which?"
"But, it was a song about girl who wanted to become the "queen" of her dance that her school was having. Though someone stole her dream and she went on a murderous rampage during the party. Her name was Sarra, I think.. It's a bit fuzzy trying to remember. Anyway, I was inspired by it and then made these costumes with the ghosts help!"
(Y/N) explained, yet Vil looks at her with confusion. "Where did even get those clothes?" Vil gestured to her dress and Yuu's outfit. "I found them outside of Ramshackle. I think it was leftovers of from the Diasomnia dorm?"
"The rest I bought at Sam's shop using some of my paycheck." Yuu overheard her and looks at (Y/N) with worry. "Oh, I see." The handsome vampire said, walking over to her. Vil gently grips her chin, looking over her face.
"Hmm." He hummed, caressing one of her cheeks. "You need to put on some make-up." Vil says as he let's go of her. Pulling out a tiny tube of lipstick, he carefully applied it to her lips.
"I'll put on the rest once we are inside." Not caring for the hateful or unhappy stares of the Halloween committee. Vil goes back to Epel side. The first year looks anywhere but his dorm leader. His fists clenching tightly.
Kalim joyfully jumps over to (Y/N), "you look so pretty! And scary too!" Caring very little on how close they were. The fake werewolf holds her arm as he bombarded (Y/N) with sweet compliments. Cater steps in front of the two.
"(Y/N)-Chan~ Mind if I take a pic of you? Your super scary cute right now!" The female nods as Cater starts snapping a few photos. Hashtaging the pics under, super cute, NRC Halloween event! Cater then takes a selfie as well after, "thanks (Y/N)-Chan!"
"I think it's time to get going." Jack tells the group. Everyone agreed and started to walk to the main campus. Yuu and (Y/N) stayed in the back of group. "You didn't tell me you used your paycheck."
Yuu said as he stared at the female straight in the eye. The (h/c)-nette hurriedly says that she still has enough money for other necessities the three might need in the future. But Yuu only shakes their head, "I could of pitched in." "No way Yuu, you already used most of your Madols on groceries. You need to relax once in awhile and let me treat you!"
Yuu still was not convinced, (Y/N) sighs at him. "We can talk about this later. Right now, I want you to enjoy yourself tonight!" (Y/N) said with a determined, but a pleadding look in her (e/c) eyes. Yuu goes silent, though finally caved in. "Alright.."
"Good, cause I didn't want to abuse my power of dorm leader to make you." (Y/N) jokes, in her head she was cheering for her victory! Yuu gave her a small smile. (Y/N) grasps his hand as the two try not to lose the group.
The End!
(Alright. So I decided to add Yuu in this one because I think Yuu needs more love and free time. They keep dealing with so much stuff, so they need a break! I choose Sara Berry for (Y/N) outfit as a spooky easter egg. Grim and Yuu are her victims, so I gave them ghost costumes! Anyway, Happy Spooky Month! 👻 🎃🃏🍭🍬🍫🎇🎆)

Every day, John thought, Like fucking clockwork.
Finn was outside his office, like a lovestruck idiot, making moon eyes over his secretary. Five minutes before end of day. Every. Day.
It started cute enough. Finn ran past her one afternoon to give John a message from Tommy. He was so wrapped up in getting the message to John that he didn't even notice the girl that he pushed past in John's doorway. That was, until, Finn was knocked off balance from her hands on his collar as she dragged him out of the office. He was taller than she was, which only made it easier for her to move him.
"Excuse me," she had said, face red as she glared up at the youngest Shelby, "I don't believe you have an appointment and you are supposed to see me before you interrupt Mr. Shelby."
"(Y/N)," John said, hiding his smile with his hand before he pointed to the scoffing boy in her grip. "I see you haven't met Finn, my youngest brother."
She immediately loosened her grip on his shirt with a gasp, her eyes dropped to the floor as a waterfall of apologies left her lips like prayers.
"It's okay," John said laughing. "We don't think much of him, either. What do you want, Finn?"
Finn scoffed at his brother as he smoothed out his suit and walked back into the office, closing the door loudly behind him.
John watched through the frosted glass as (Y/N) settled back into her seat at the desk in front of his office before he stood up and met Finn's waiting eyes.
"Well," Finn said, "what's your response?"
John tilted his head.
"To what?"
"To what I just told you," Finn exhaled, hitting his thighs with his hands. "The message."
"The message," John said as he cleared his throat. "Right, well tell me again while I gather a good answer."
Finn groaned.
When Finn left, he had stopped by (Y/N)'s desk to tell her that it was okay, he wouldn't take it to heart, that it was a misunderstanding. But his breath caught as he looked down at her wide eyes looking up at him. He stammered his words as she gave him a smile, politely nodding to encourage him to finish his sentence.
It was all over at that moment, John thought, the idiot fell in puppy love.
Honestly, that was the day John looked at her differently, too. She had always been a good secretary, but her courage to pull a man out of his office made him want to know more about her. He started to notice more, pulling himself out of his head to acknowledge her. For a 20 year old, seven years his junior --far closer to Finn's tender age of 18 than his own-- she had a good head on her shoulders.
She was always nice to the other women, even the gossips and the complainers, and always encouraging on busy days. She did her work and went home. She was always respectful when someone stepped out of line but she had no hesitation in correcting what she thought was wrong. John started finding himself watching her from his office on slow afternoons.
I wonder what she's like when she finally relaxes, he thought. I'd like to be the one that knows. That gets to make her smile.
Finn must have had the same idea, because only a few weeks after their first encounter he started showing up at the office more. He would make small talk, leaning on her desk, bringing her little presents like wildflowers from the ditch or a treat from the bakery. Visit by visit she became friendlier, more animated, relaxed.
The first laugh was music to John's ears. It rang through the empty room after work only to be stifled by her hand. Finn was smiling, leaning over her as he sat on her desk, and something warm knawed at John's stomach. Finn tucked a stray hair behind her ears. He locked eyes with his brother as Finn sat back up and he sheepishly smiled as John's eyebrow quirked.
"I should probably be off," Finn shrugged, looking back at (Y/N). "Let you go home for the day."
"You could walk me, if you'd like," (Y/N)'s voice said softly and John's blood ran cold in the other room. "But only if you'd like."
"Y-yeah," Finn sputtered, standing from her desk. "I'd like that."
After that, Finn walked her home every day. John was always the last one out of the office.
Months went on. Finn continued visiting, bringing her trinkets, walking her home. (Y/N) got more and more comfortable with her position in the company and even began to relax around John. She often stayed late with John to finish counting the books or organize after a particularly busy day.
John found her presence comforting. He started to sit at the table near the safe with his paperwork after hours so that they could talk while the work was being done.
"Exciting plans this weekend, doll?" He asked one Thursday evening after a particularly busy day.
She smiled brightly as she counted a stack of money.
"Actually, yes," (Y/N) said as she scribbled into the book before picking up another stack. "Finn asked if I wanted to see the new Chaplin movie."
John's heart sank as his head shot up. He gave her a weak smile.
"You like Chaplin, eh?"
She nodded excitedly.
"I never really go to the pictures, so it's nice to be able to go."
"A girl like you should have suitors lining up to take you anywhere you'd like," John said as he looked back down to his paperwork. "My idiot brother should be the least of your choices."
"Finn's sweet."
"That what you're looking for?" John asked as he dropped his pen.
(Y/N)'s face is pinched, a troubled look flashing between confusion and annoyance. She bit her lip, as if she had words that would tumble out of she did not hold them.
"Just a question," John sighed as he leaned back. "But not mine to ask. I'm sorry."
"You know what I think?" She said, scrambling to her feet. "Tea. I think we both need a spot of tea. Yes."
She was gone in a blink, off to the kitchens to boil the water. John groaned and pressed his face into his hand a moment, exhaling out the frustration. He tried to read the papers again, but couldn't get past the first few lines.
"Idiot, John, idiot," he mumbled. "Finn's not the only Shelby without a fucking clue."
"He's not," she said as she brought in a cup of tea, setting it beside him.
John flushed as he looked up at her sheepishly.
"Thanks, doll," he said, briefly smiling at her before burying his head back into the stack of paperwork.
She smiled thinly, walking to the door but paused in the frame to look back at him.
"My name's not doll, Mr. Shelby."
John's head snapped up and he frowned as he studied his secretary in the doorway.
"I know your name, (Y/N)," he said, his pen falling from his hand. "Just like I know your last name. Just like I know your family. Just like I know your address."
She froze, and his frown deepened, realizing how that must sound.
"I'm your boss," he smiled as he said in a lighter tone. His eyes softened. "I also know that when the room goes to chaos, you run over and make all the girls a spot of tea, to calm everyone's nerves. Earl Grey, I believe. Probably what I have here beside me, too."
She relaxed as his finger swirled the top of the steaming cup.
"I don't call you doll because I don't know your name," John pressed quietly, tucking the words into the silence like you tuck the edges of a bed cover. "I call you doll because you look it. You're angelic, even in this 'shit lighting' you girls like to complain about."
"I--"
"And I've told you before," he said, picking up the cup and pausing it against his lips. "Call me John."
Her mouth clamped down and she studied the man in front of her drinking tea before she smiled softly.
"Yes, John."
----
When your birthday came the next week, you gasped when you found a box on your desk when you sat down for the day. The small white box was wrapped in a red velvet ribbon and tucked in front of her typewriter. You touched the ribbon, feeling the plush fabric as you carefully pulled on it. You lifted the too to find a white note.
Happy birthday, (Y/N).
You deserve a little sparkle after all the hard work you've put in lately.
-J.S.
Under the note was a sliver of the moon woven into a gorgeous band that felt cool against your fingers as it glistened. It was the most gorgeous silver bracelet you had ever seen.
You appeared in his doorway and closed the door before you could even think straight.
"I can accept this, John," you said as you set the box on his desk.
"Why not?" He frowned as he reached for it. "It's your birthday."
"It's far too much," you said. "I'm just a secretary. This isn't proper."
John's eyes widened as he scoffed.
"There's no attachments," he said. "I'm not asking for anything. I just wanted to give you something nice for your birthday. You've worked so hard around here, a card didn't feel enough." He paused, moving the box in his hand. "And maybe there's an apology wrapped in it as well."
"An apology?"
"The other night I was a git," he said as he scratched his neck. "None of my business who or why you run around with anyone. Not my place. Now come 'round so I can put this on your wrist. I'm not taking it back."
You came around his desk as he opened the box, the chain looking so delicate in his large hands. Feelings bubbled inside and you giggled as he fumbled with the clasp.
"Thank you, John," you said softly as he clasped it around your wrist.
"Pretty bracelet for a pretty girl," he rumbled, smiling at you as you hand lingered in his. He cleared his throat. "Right. Well, work calls. Best go back before the chickens gossip."
He patted your hand before you stepped back, and he smiled at your wrist as you rotated it to watch the bracelet gleam in the light.
"Right, work," you said slowly, watching his eyes follow your wrist as you moved. "Do you need anything while I'm here, John?"
His attention snapped to your face as you said his name and he gave you a lopsided smile that gave you butterflies.
"No, thank you," he said. "Happy birthday again, (Y/N)."
"Thank you, John."
Days went by and you found yourself wearing the bracelet every day. Smiling at it when it caught your eye, even when you were in Finn's company.
One Monday morning, John didn't show up for work. Finn told you that his older brothers were in London, drinking and fucking under the guise of expansion. The answer itched under your skin, but you chalked it up to having to take John's place to keep the girls in the office moving. When he came back, you had no hesitation to visit his office.
"No one's seen you in days," you said as you crossed your arms and eyed him carefully from the doorway.
It has been nearly a week and you had to keep the girls in line as well as the bookies during a huge race while your boss, whose job it was, was off doing who knows what. Or who, the annoying little voice in your head chipped in. The whole thing made you feel tired and agitated. And now he's back, on a Friday evening no less, like nothing ever happened.
"Business in London," John said gruffly as he sat down at his desk to the mountain of paperwork waiting for him. "Tom called it a vacation, but there wasn't no free time. All business."
John sighed as he reached for a pen.
"And there's enough papers to go through I aughta be here half the night."
"Any," you said, smiling softly. So no girls.
"Wasn't any free time. Welcome back, John."
John looked up from his paperwork perplexed until his pursed lips slid into a small smile.
"Thank you, (Y/N)," he said as you kicked off the door and sat back at your desk to finish your work.
"Thought I was doll," you called just loud enough for it to carry into his room. You hoped he could hear the smile in your voice.
"You are," he laughed.
An hour or so later you had finished gathering the information from the last race's earnings and stacked the papers to take to John. You tapped on his door frame and walked in without hesitation.
John jolted in his seat and sat up, a guilty look across his face as if he was caught passing notes in class.
"Papers from the last race you missed," you said, tossing them on top of his pile.
John shuffled in his seat, both hands under his desk. You frowned. His hands reappeared and started shuffling the papers, his eyes not meeting yours. You looked down his pinstripe jacket before you realized why he would look guilty and your eyes snapped back up when you saw his trousers undone.
Oh.
You turned around to walk to the door. You stopped there, a hand on the frame as you looked over your shoulder.
"You know quite a few girls fawn over you," you said. "You could have any of them, really. I don't think I've seen you with a girl in some time. You look" you paused. "Stressed."
John frowned as he looked up from his desk.
"I don't want a razor chaser," he said. "Those girls will blind a Blinder fast. They want the snow and the money but they never think of the violence as more than a thrill."
"Only want those that don't want you?" You smiled, watching closely for any response. A glimmer.
John chuckled before he looked back down to the papers.
"Something like that," he murmured.
Monday afternoon, you were at your desk when Tommy --Mr. Shelby-- stormed past you, cigarette burning between his fingers. The door slammed behind him and you could hear pacing in the room behind you.
"Right, John, you're to lead the Italian meeting in my stead," Tommy's muddled voice said, already moving toward the door. The door jiggled.
"Me? But what--"
"I don't want to hear it," Tommy interrupted, walking through the door before pointing behind him at John. "Just make it happen. This company is growing rapidly. Remind me why you should keep your position."
Tommy walked out with a curt nod at you. Conversation over.
You heard papers scatter as Tommy left and immediately stood up and walked into his office to find John pacing behind his desk. You flinched as he grabbed his chair and threw it into a corner, his hands flying to his head as he growled in frustration. You quickly closed the door behind you.
"John?" Your voice wavered.
He stopped in his tracks and looked up, his wild eyes looked over you before he closed them and took a deep breath.
"Yes, (Y/N)," he said tiredly. "What do you want?"
"It's a slow day today," you said as you looked him over, his hands shaking as he fought to stay still, calm, under your gaze. "The girls were hoping to leave early. Make up the hours when we're slammed later this week."
"Yes," John sighed. "Send them home. Thank you, (Y/N). Now if you could kindly go home yourself, I can properly go 'round the bend in peace."
He started pacing again, but you didn't move to leave.
"John?" You were quiet, and yet it was deafening even as he stomped and growled. You could tell your presence set him on edge, but wasn't entirely sure why. You had started to feel safe around him, joking and talking to each other in after hours. You had thought you were friendly with each other, but his demeanor was tense, agitated.
"What?"
"Is there something wrong?"
You stepped forward and he stopped again, rubbing his eyes in his hand.
"Yes," he said, agitation spilling over like bubbles over a boiling kettle. "Yes there's quite a bit wrong. I've got to lead a meeting with the fucking Italians and I've already been on edge, fucking chomping at the bit for weeks. Between the kids and work I've not had a bloody minute alone."
"Can I help?"
John barked a laugh before he could stop himself.
"Not unless you can dress up as me and talk to the bloody Italians," he said bitterly. "Or you're ready to wank off your boss so his head's on straight again."
His head shot up, eyes wide as he took a step around his desk, his hand outstretched.
"I didn't mean that," he said quickly. "Christ, I'm going bloody crazy."
John started pacing again, a wild animal in a cage. The floor under his feet would wear if he kept going. The boards would creak, give way until he was pacing himself into the ground.
"It's fine," you said quietly. "I'll send the girls home."
You stepped out, keeping John closed in his office to pace as you sent everyone home. Your head was racing with his words. They had been carelessly tossed out without a thought only to be reeled back in, back to the boss you had come to know. They had shocked you. But also intrigued you, you thought. Did he mean it?
After telling the girls the good news, you sat back at your desk for a moment and finished a page of type. As they all filed out and said their goodbyes, you gathered your things but left them on your seat as you went back to John's door.
He stopped in mid pace in the middle of his room as you opened the door. He sighed, as his palms pressed into his eyes. As if to press his brains back in to his head before he did anything stupid.
"I'm fine, really," he said pressing his palms deeper into his eyes. "You can go home."
"I want to help."
John looked at you standing in the doorway. You bit your lip as you watched him watch you. The heat from his hungry eyes made your heart flutter.
"Do I have to say it again?" You asked, your voice stronger than you expected it to be. The longer he stared the more uncertain you felt. You looked down for a moment.
"I--"
John's lips collided into your own as his hand raked into your hair and his hips pressed you into the door. He was hungry, needy, wild. He licked your lip and deepened the kiss. You jolted back to earth as his bit your lip a little too hard. You gasped as you pulled back and his moan was ripped out of your mouth. His hazy blue eyes sharpened as he cupped your face.
"Shit, sorry, doll," he said as he pecked your lips. "You taste so sweet. I got carried away."
You squeezed his forearm and pulled him closer to you again, your skin begging for his touch.
"Kiss me again," you said, watching his eyes light up and an easy smile spread across his face.
He did, and this time he didn't bite you. His hands wandered your frame, expertly memorizing every inch as his kisses made you forget everything but his blue eyes. He lightly tugged on your hair and kissed down your neck, illiciting a moan as he found the spot that made you see stars.
"I could listen to that sound forever," he chuckled into your neck before nipping at the same spot.
You pressed yourself to him as you loosened his tie and pulled his shirt from his trousers.
"Aren't I supposed to be relaxing you?" You laughed before you felt his hand push your skirts up to grab at your thighs.
"Multitasking," he said into your ear and pushed his knee between your legs.
You writhed as he pressed you into the door and you felt the friction he caused at your core. You grabbed his chin and pulled him back to your lips for a kiss as you grinded against his leg without a thought. The pleasure had you. He felt entirely too good against you, and you could not bear to be separated.
"You like grinding, eh?" He chuckled as you gasped when he moved his leg with you and you flushed.
He pulled you from the door, leading you to his desk to sit on top of all the papers. John cupped your face and kissed you so hard you saw stars. You followed as he pulled away, half lidded as he pushed you back onto the desk as he pulled his chair from the corner he had thrown it in.
"Stockings come off, love, before I rip them," he said, setting the chair back in front of you.
"Then rip them," you said lowly as you kicked your heels under his desk and propped a foot on the chair.
"Right," he smiled wolfishly as he sat down between your legs and slipped his hand on your calf and into your skirts. "Come 'ere."
You lifted yourself off the desk for a moment so he could pull your stockings over your ass. John tore them off of you without hesitation and tossed them aside as he ran his rough hands along your legs and up your skirt, pulling you off of the desk and straddling his knee. You purred into his ear.
"Your hands feel so good, John," you rasped. "How do I make you feel good?"
You had no thoughts, no cares, you only wanted more. The world, the room you were in, everything but this feeling and him were static to be ignored. You were lost in lust and couldn't pull yourself out, only through.
You grinded into him and whined as you pulled back to look him in the eye. His eyes were heavy and he cupped your cheek as he pulled you into a kiss.
"Did I need this or do you, doll?" He exhaled a smile as he rested his forehead on yours. "I'm not the only one pent up. Someone hasn't been taking care of you, have they?"
You growled and pressed yourself against him.
"Can you shut up for once in your life?" You gritted your teeth.
"I want to hear it from your lips, doll," he said as he teased you, just out of your reach.
"I want it," you whispered as you rubbed him through his slacks. "I want it. I want it. I want it."
----
Completely spent, John buried his head in her hair for a moment before standing up and fastening his trousers.
"I still have that meeting soon," John said, holding his hand out to help her sit up on the desk. "But after. After I tuck the children in," he kissed her hand, the bracelet catching his eye and causing him to smile. "I want to see you with nothing on but that bracelet. I'm not done. Come over tonight."
She smiled weakly, and he frowned and kissed her hand again. His mind was clear, the fog of cum spent between her legs. The clarity sent warning bells through his brain as he watched her face tighten, her smile artificial and cracking near the corners.
"Or yours," he amended and watched her expression stay the same. "Less chances of interruptions."
He frowned deeper and let go of her hand.
"Did I do something wrong? You're still shaking like a leaf, you can't tell me you didn't--"
"Oy, (Y/N)? John?" Finn's voice echoed outside his office. "Hello?"
John and (Y/N) both froze for a moment as they locked eyes. She gave him a pleading look as she stood up and smoothed her dress back down, slipping her heels back on with effort. John tucked his shirt back in and straightened his tie as she walked to the door and opened it.
"Hey Finn," she smiled weakly, opening the door wide as he strode in. "John was just going over last minute reports before we leave."
"I caught the other ladies down the street," Finn said and eyed his brother. "You're entirely unfair keeping (Y/N) while the rest are allowed to run off for the day. She works so hard for you already, you should appreciate her more."
"I suggested it," (Y/N) cut in as John frowned and opened his mouth. "To get a leg up for tomorrow. But we're done here, so I really should head home. John, good luck with your meeting. I hope I helped."
John nodded and cleared his throat, his brain growing dark. Is she really pretending like I didn't just take her over my desk, he thought. Surely she's just saving his feelings.
"Right, right," he said as he shoved his hands in his pockets. "Have a nice evening, (Y/N)."
"Can I walk you home?" Finn smiled at her as he asked. "Maybe take you to an early dinner?"
John's jaw set as she gave him one last pleading glance before smiling and nodding to Finn, nestling her arm in his.
"I'd love that," she said, her voice shaky as she looked back to John. "I'll see you tomorrow, Mr. Shelby."
John's heart dropped as Finn led her out of his office. He sank into his chair and settled his face into his hands.

Pairing: Keanu Reeves X Reader
Word count: 2.1 K
Summary: Keanu found the girl almost dead, in the wrecks of what was once her car. While she was in surgery, stuck in a coma, he gathered the best doctors of New York to attend to her. They told him she is likely to have some kind of brain damage, what may lead to memory loss. And this possibility added up wit the fact that she's pregnant, made the council come up with an odd idea. They asked Keanu to pretend to be her husband, since the stress of finding out everything that happened could put the baby in danger. He reluctantly agreed, but only if she does has some kind of memory loss. He still goes she'll wake up soon, with her memories intact.
But when you finally wake up, there's nothing inside. You're quick to find your head is empty, void, like a blank canvas. The only thing that brings you some relief, that makes you feel less lonely is the mention of a husband. And you can't wait to meet him, because you know you can't deal with this by yourself.

Deceit
Life has a weird way of turning things around. Of putting people in the most unlikely scenarios, and leaving them on their own to try and figure out what to do next.
Keanu's mind has been restless since the moment he saw the bleeding, unconscious girl inside that wreck of a car, four days ago.
It was on the side of the empty road, and he was just about to drive pass it when something made him stop. Whoever caused it was gone, and there were no words to describe the sting on his chest when he saw her. The next moments happened in such a blur that he still has a hard time trying to put everything together. He remembers carefully lifting the girl's body off the wheel. He remembers checking her heartbeats, so faint and weak. And he surely remembers calling an ambulance and staying there, hoping, praying she wouldn't be just a corpse when they got there.
He couldn't quite see the extension of the damage since he was too scared to move her around. The girl wouldn't wake up, it didn't matter how many times he called, and as time passed, minutes passing by impossibly slow, he felt his heart sinking. Over and over again, he placed two fingers on her neck, just to make sure she was still alive. Her breathing was shallow and fast, and Keanu couldn't even notice in his agitation. There was way too much blood coming from a wound on her forehead, and more staining her light blue blouse. He couldn't believe he'd watch her die, right there before his eyes.
A wave of relief washed over him when the ambulance came, and he watched, helplessly, as they put her on the stretcher, pushing it to the back of the ambulance. A man had spoken to him, he's not sure what, but his legs carried him to the ambulance with her, and there, seated between two paramedics, he looked at the girl, once again praying she'd survive the ride.
She did. She was strong, the doctors said, and had successfully recovered from the two surgeries she had to go through. There was a lot of internal bleeding, they said, and now, the girl was in a coma. And nobody could tell how long it'd take for her to wake up.
But that was four days ago. Today, still at the hospital, Keanu tries to focus on whatever the council of doctors are saying. He had paid for everything, and he wouldn't have anything less than the best health care for the girl. (Y/N), he had found out. A beautiful name, that he thought suited the girl perfectly. Seated on the head of the table, Doctor Wright speaks of her condition, but Keanu's mind has drifted away a while ago.
“Mr. Reeves?” The woman, Alice Harris, gets his attention. She's the psychologist involved. The only reason why she's here is that there was damage on (Y/N)'s brain. There's a sixty percent chance that her memories were affected. They don't know how much yet, but they'll be ready to deal with whatever happens when she finally opens her eyes again. If she ever does. But Keanu won't give this possibility any thoughts. “Are you willing to do this?”
“Do what?” He didn't want to come out as not being interested in this. He was. But he can't pretend he knows what he would be agreeing with.
“Mr. Reeves, I know you're also affected by this. We all can see it. But we need you to have your mind clear.” The surgeon speaks, his hands cupped together, lying above (Y/N)'s papers. “If not, we'll place her under our care until we can contact her mother-in-law.”
“Mother-in-law?” How much of the conversation did Keanu lose?
“Let me.” Dr. Wright says. “Mr. Reeves, we have made some research on our patient's life. (Y/N) had just moved here, and unfortunately, she lost her husband only two weeks ago in a work-related accident.” This time, Keanu pays attention, his eyes focused on the man. “The only other person she has here is a friend named Laura Thompson, and her mother-in-law lives in Argentina, Lucia Davis. A few friends from her hometown, but nobody else. Nobody here who can help her through... Her condition.”
“There's still a chance she'll remember, right? Forty percent.” Keanu could only imagine what it'd be like. He'd never wished that on anyone, waking up one day with nothing inside. No record of who you were before. And he didn't want this for her. Not after what she's been through. “If she's alright then–”
“It wasn't about this condition I was talking about.” He cuts off, sighing and exchanging a glance with the neurologist. “Mr. Reeves, (Y/N) is three weeks pregnant.”
There's a sudden buzz on Keanu's ears, as his brain tries to process what he just heard. He's quick to make the math though. Three weeks pregnant, lost her husband two weeks ago... She was just starting to plan everything, probably just about to break the news to him or the family, and then, he died. That was probably the reason for her accident. Driving fast, tears clouding her sight, wondering what she'd do now, all alone, with a kid on the way. “Everything you need me to do, I will. I'll pay for anything she needs, it doesn't matter how much.” The words flow out, almost a living thing.
“Dr. Harris raises a hand to stop Dr. Wright, who was just about to say something. “Mr. Reeves, as we already said, we fear that our patient will have some kind of memory loss if she wakes up. And people on her position are always scared, and the feeling of being lost may drive them into self-destructive behaviors.” The woman speaks slow, and Keanu sighs. He's suddenly angry, wanting people to just spit everything out so he can understand what's going on and decide what to do with it. Bouncing his leg under the table, he nods, urging her to continue. “In that scenario, knowing about a pregnancy can make things take a bad turn, and even put the unborn child in danger.”
“What will you have me do?” He bursts out, impatiently. “If you need another specialist, or transfer her to some other hospital, do it.”
“What we need is far more complicated than that.” She continues. “A little unusual, but I believe it will work.” She takes a deep breath, fixing her glasses. “Mr. Reeves, we need you to introduce yourself as being (Y/N)'s husband.”
“What?” He inquires, unable to believe his ears.
“If she wakes up–”
“When.” Keanu is quick to correct her, his voice letting it show how anxious he is.
“When, forgive me.” Dr. Harris mutters. “It will be better if she has someone close. And a husband, since she's with child, will certainly give her peace of mind until... Until she remembers. If she remembers and if she does have a memory loss in the first place.”
Keanu looks down at his hands, resting on the wooden table before him. He should say no. This is way too much, too much of a crazy idea to follow up. But these are the best doctors money could pay for, and he did say he'd do anything that could help her. But he'd never thought this would be what she needed. There was no other option to him, that much was obvious, even if he didn't want to admit it right way. “Alright then.” He agrees, nodding.
“Good. We'll contact her friend and mother-in-law to let them know about this.” Dr. Wright says, getting up. “I'll need you to attend some meetings, Mr. Reeves, there will be some things we'll need to discuss.”
“Sure.” As if he hasn't been coming to the hospital every day to visit the girl.
The days start passing a little faster now, as Keanu meets up with the psychologist to make things ready in case she wakes up. They said there's no need to rush, that it may take several weeks, months even... But Keanu won't share their skepticism. He believes she's coming back soon, so he'll have everything in place for the biggest lie he'd ever tell. He has the excuses in place, the backstory, everything. He even has the fake ring already, and he never felt so bad as he did when buying it. But still, he carries it in his pocket every time he goes visit her, hoping she'll wake up.
Two weeks have passed, and today, as usual, Keanu looks through the open blinders, his eyes set on her sleeping figure. (Y/N) looks so peaceful in his eyes, as if she's simply sleeping. He can't help but admire her beauty, even in a simple hospital gown, with her hair a little messy, she looks pretty. His eyes drift a little, all the way to her stomach. It's still flat, but he knows there's life in there, growing. A life that will need their mother. “C'mon, (Y/N). Wake up.” Keanu mutters, his voice barely a whisper.
After a few more minutes, he leaves, walking slowly through the hospital, all the way to his car in the underground parking lot. On the drives seat, he looks at the wheel, the door still open, and he thinks. About everything at the same time. The wrecked car, the blood, the girl, the pregnancy, the lie... It all comes flooding his mind as he runs a hand through his dark hair. He's so drowned in his head that he almost doesn't hear the phone ring. But when he does, Keanu easily finds it in his pocket, not even looking at the screen before picking up. “Hello.” He mutters, ready to dismiss whoever it is. He needs to go home, to sleep, to put his mind in place.
“Mr. Reeves. She's awake.”

You still can't put things together. The woman has been talking you through it since yesterday morning when you crawled back into consciousness. She told you everything. How you ended up here, to begin with, but it doesn't matter how hard you try, you can't remember it. In fact, you can't remember anything. When you began to freak out yesterday, a nurse came and gave you something that now forced you to calm down. So you just lie there, staring at Dr. Harris as she tries to help you. But she's failing because your mind is completely empty. The tears keep rolling down, one after the other, and it doesn't matter how much you dry them, more come soon after.
How is it even possible? How can someone lose everything they were? Everything they had? Shaking your head no, you close your eyes shut, not wanting to listen anymore. Her questions remain unanswered because you just don't know the answer them. The only reason you know your name and age is because she told you. But all the rest... It's a mystery. It's gone.
“I can't.” You mutter, running a hand through your forehead. “I can't remember. You're not helping.” Crying again, you bite back a sob. “Please, just... Don't I have anyone? Parents? Friends? Anyone... I...” You can't be alone in the world. There has to be someone, a familiar face who will bring something back.
“You're parents passed away when you were young, sweetie.” She says, and another sob erupts from your mouth. “But you have a husband.”
You're not sure how you feel about it, with too many conflicted sentiments flooding your heart. But you do feel... Relieved? You're not alone. There's someone who could help you through, who knows you. “I-is he here?” You stutter. “Can I see him?”
“Sure.” She stands up from the armchair she positioned next to your bed. “I'll call him.”
Nodding, your eyes are on her back as she leaves. Using the bed's remote control, you move it up until you're in a seating position. The minutes go by and you're still alone. The blinders are closed, so you can only see shadows passing by. Maybe he got tired of waiting. Maybe he–.
“(Y/N).” The strong, deep voice calling your name gets your attention, and your eyes find the man standing some feet away from the bed. He's... Gorgeous. Tall, with long dark hair, which falls on his face, hiding his eyes a little. His beard gives him an atmosphere of mystery but makes him even more handsome.
Is that him? Are you really married to this man? “Are you...” The words fail you, and your voice fades.
“I'm Keanu Reeves. Your husband.”

i really wish i hated you || tsukishima kei
masterlist | 1 | 2 | chapter 3
Tumblr media
pairing: tsukishima kei x f! reader
sypnosis: It was an accident that (Y/N) met a certain tall, blonde male; a memory she isn't fond of remembering, but it is where it all started. And ever since, she magically makes her to his path. The image of the bespectacled man dwelled in her mind more than she thought. Tsukishima pushed away his softer emotions and denied their existence, or at least that's what he told himself. But then, he couldn't believe that this girl he labeled as a clumsy, unlucky creature who smashed his glasses is slowly bringing these strange emotions back to him. She might be irritating and dumb sometimes, but he couldn't get himself to completely hate her. Either that destiny was stupid, or he was blessed or cursed.

She has met the tall, blonde, and bespectacled male yet again.
"Oh, the midget stalker is here."
"You again?! Seriously, I think it's you who's following me!"
"Hah, what do I get from following an extremely short person like you?" He said, borrowing her words from yesterday.
(Y/N)'s eyebrows creased further in irritation. "Why do you keep mentioning my height?!"
"It was you who started it. Anyways, can you shut up? Do you know that you're in a library?"
She didn't retort back and simply sat on the chair with her arms crossed. It was a fine day then —BOOM— this giant decided to appear out of nowhere. She was trying to forget this person who's associated with some of her embarrassing moments but those just got smashed back to her mind. (Y/N) sighed and pulled a book at the bottom of the stack to start reading, but noticed that the blondie is still standing near the edge of the table, hesitating to sit down while glancing somewhere and back to her.
"What?" (Y/N) frowned.
"Why am I unnecessarily stuck with you on this table?" He sighed, pulling out the chair.
"Because all of the tables here are taken? If you're worried about your glasses being knocked off, don't worry, I won't do anything reckless anymore."
"That's a nice reassurance," He settled down and brought out his studying materials.
Both of them shared the table in the crowded library. Ignoring the people, between them was a silent atmosphere. No one was talking as they both minded their own studies; he was reading quietly and turning pages of a huge book while (Y/N) wrote key points from the printed work and highlighting her notes. Sometimes, the other would leave to return books to their shelves and came back with new stacks. This went on for a few hours until her pen ran out of ink. She scribbled at the back of her notebook in hopes that the ink just got stuck, to no avail. She sighed, resting her head on the notebook. But she really needed to take down notes for her upcoming entrance exam.
"Hey." (Y/N) reluctantly said.
The blonde male looked at her, confirming if he's being called, "What?"
"I'm sorry to interrupt your business but... do you have a spare pen?"
He stared at her with a straight face and placed his chin on the top of his knuckles, implying his refusal to lend one.
(Y/N)'s mentally gritted her teeth. I'm just going to borrow a pen and he's making it hard for me?!
Swallowing her pride, she said, "Look, I need to finish my notes. I'll return it to you right away when I'm done. I promise. Please?"
He scoffed as brought out a pen, "An inkless pen is all it takes for you to become a less lively puppy? You better keep your promise."
A puppy?! "You didn't need to compare me to a puppy but, thanks."
She continued her work but her focus was a bit shaken. This happens whenever she's interrupted or took a break away from writing. Soon, her focus vanished and boredom took over. She tried to read a book to review ideas but her brain won't cooperate. She groaned, her head and arms fell to the table again. The blonde saw but chose to ignore her.
She closed her eyes for a second, however, her gaze fell to the blank paper in front of her face. Her hands are itching to do something other than reviewing and writing, so she put down the pen she borrowed and took a pencil out of her pocket. She placed a pile of books near her notebook so that the male won't notice what she's doing. There, she started to sketch the base of the figure.
She would observe the four-eyed guy who's busy reading some sort of article while taking notes. He has a calm expression on his face rather than an irritated scowl or a mocking grin he usually has. He wears a long blazer and probably a long-sleeved shirt inside. His blonde hair is short yet the edges are a bit curly and his upper eyelashes are prominently long. This was the first time she stared at the jerk's face who she kept bumping into random places that irked the hell out of her, but for some reason, she felt that she had seen this person before the accident in the park, albeit she doesn't know where. (Y/N) came to a conclusion; he was a little good-looking.
The girl looked back to her drawing and shook her head at her own ideas. I can't believe I actually thought that this guy is handsome. How can such a mean creature be blessed with such looks?! Ugh, don't mind, (Y/N). I'm only drawing him because he seems like a great canvas subject, it's not like I haven't done this to other people before...
She went on drawing and drew details to the sketch similar to the boy in front of her. To make the drawing more accurate, she stole small glances at him. She kept things low key because it'll be another embarrassing event if he found out what she's doing. She made the lines smoother in one swift move. The hair and clothes' folds are already well-drawn while she focuses on the detail of his eyes and glasses. She was about to shade when the male finally caught her.
"What is it?" He questioned, closing his book with a low voice and creased eyebrows.
(Y/N) froze on the spot. As much as she doesn't like it, she maintained eye contact with him, thinking of the best alibi that he couldn't argue with. Then, she remembered that she doesn't know his name.
"Uhm... nothing. I was just wondering if you have a name." While talking, her finger subtly moved to grab the nearest object it could get to cover her drawing.
"I have, but why would I mention it to you?" He cooly replied.
"It's alright. I'm not asking you to. Unless you want to be referred to as he/him or the tall, blonde glasses guy all the time?" (Y/N) countered.
He silently turned a page before answering, "Well, it's not like we'll meet every day."
"Oh," was her only reply. Looks like he will stay a nameless guy in her head for a long time. She was about to get back to her business when he spoke.
"Tsukishima Kei."
(Y/N) looked at him in surprise. "I'm not going to repeat it." He added.
She smiled, having clearly heard it right away. "Can you tell me how it is written?"
He looked at her to check for ill intentions but found nothing in her eyes. He hesitantly wrote the characters of his name on a piece of paper.
"I'm (L/N) (Y/N), nice to meet you again, Tsukishima-san." She'd like to initiate a handshake for peacemaking, but she knows how he'd only decline it. She wrote her name for him to see as well.
Tsukishima Kei. She repeated in her mind. What a nice name.
With a notebook covering the upper portion of the paper where she had drawn his portrait, she wrote his name at the bottom. She proceeded to the shading and background features. Backgrounds are one of the things she hates in art because it takes too long to draw one compared to the subject itself. Luckily it's only a sketch so she won't have to suffer. Although she doesn't know if Tsukishima had seen whatever she's doing so she's still cautious. She peered at him for the nth time so she could distract his peripheral vision. Maybe to test the social initiative skills she hasn't used for a long time too.
"Uhh, can I ask something?" She started.
"Hm?" He responded without taking his eyes off the page.
"What school are you from?"
"Amemaru Middle School."
(Y/N) hummed, thinking of another question, "Then, what school are you enrolling to? It must be an upper class one since you had to read those large books and all."
"Not really," Tsukishima closed the book, "I plan to go to Karasuno High School. They may not have a difficult entrance exam, but these readings are for decent grades and some stock knowledge."
"Decent grades, huh... you look like you could achieve more though. I'm pretty sure you'll ace it." She answered, "I was from Kitagawa Dai Ichi. I'm taking an exam in Shiratorizawa soon."
"You're going to that high-class academy? I see, I failed to notice that because you don't look like one. Have fun clashing with other elites there."
"Elites? What are you talking about, you still believe there's such a hierarchy?" (Y/N) chuckled.
"There is though. A gap between them and mere humans in terms of skills and power."
"In the end, they're still humans though. Be it numbers, hard work, or some unique strategy, those 'mere humans' you say will always struggle to step on equal levels with those on the highest rank."
Tsukishima only hummed and stared down at her, "Perhaps I was wrong on assuming you're an elite. You're clearly not."
"Are you underestimating me?" She challenged.
"No, I was just saying. Can I ask something though?"
"What?"
"Why are you suddenly talkative?"
She was caught off guard but tried not to stutter, "Me? Talkative? I'm always like this."
"Really?" He raised his brows, totally not buying it.
"Ugh, fine! I'm tired of studying!" She sighed, "I was scribbling some doodles on my notebook because I'm bored so I thought it wouldn't hurt to talk to Mr. Beanpole in front of me. Forgive me and my awkward social skills."
"Your social skills are not bad. I'm just thankful you aren't using the precious ink of my pen for drawing." He said, stacking the books he used.
She gasped, panicked inside, "You aren't looking at my drawing, are you?"
He got up to return the books,"Don't worry, it's none of my business."
She exhaled in relief, spared from another memory of embarrassment. Her eyes followed his walking figure and watched his movements. She looked at her drawing to compare and used her fingers to define lighting. When Tsukishima got back and placed new reviewers on the table, (Y/N) asked him once more.
"Do you ever get tired of studying?"
"Sometimes I take a break, but I can only do that if I have finished everything."
"What a diligent student you are."
"I hardly see any benefit in being dumb and slacking off all the time."
"Eh, I hardly see any benefit in studying Algebra and Calculus. I have a lot of questions. Do you use derivatives in counting money or salary? Do you use trigonometry in dividing pizzas or corn chips? Why do I need to find the limit of a function if numbers are infinite? Why do I need to get the formula of a certain point in each line or curve I draw on the graphing paper? What is the correct answer for?" (Y/N) complained.
Tsukishima looked at her blankly, doubting her chances of passing the Shiratorizawa's board exam. "I couldn't argue with that, I'd rather read a book composed of words than formulas, but you don't have a choice. Although, if you plan to be an engineer or something, that'll be a different perspective."
"No, thanks, I won't eat math books for breakfast. Other subjects are interesting enough to keep me awake in class, but numbers don't really entertain me."
"Then, what do you do?" He asked, writing on his notes.
"Not much. I just draw, paint, listen to music, and watch anime."
He let out an amused hum, "How about you? What do you do other than to study?" (Y/N) asked.
"I play volleyball, listen to music, and read narrative books."
"Volleyball? So that's what your height is for! I thought it's just for cleaning and reaching high places."
"That's rude."
"If I am, what do you call yourself? Besides, I don't want to make wrong assumptions."
"You just did."
"...right. I'm sorry."
The sense of familiarity took over (Y/N)'s brain, telling her that she definitely had met this Tsukishima guy before. Her face scrunched a little, trying to search her memories and connect the dots. Her eyes found his face again.
"Why do you keep looking at me?" His eyes narrowed, his annoyance towards the girl slowly rising.
"I HAD met you somewhere... before that accident, where did I see you?"
He was about to say something when (Y/N) stopped him, "Shh, I'm thinking."
He crossed his arms and frowned at her. Volleyball, Amemaru MS... She was about to say it but Tsukishima spoke first.
"Were you one of the audience who watched the middle school volleyball inter-high a year ago?"
"I was! Wait, you remember?"
"That was the only place where I could find someone from Kitagawa Dai Ichi." He confirmed.
"Correct. I was a part of the school paper where I was assigned in the sports category. I took a picture of you when my senior was interviewing you! You were the tallest middle blocker in the games! How could I forget that! So that's why whenever you irk me, it was familiar!"
"How am I annoying you? Aren't you the one who kept on talking right now?"
"I've figured out that there's no kind bone in you. And the way you keep on stuffing the spikes from the opposite team. It was never-ending that they didn't have a chance to score properly." She pouted.
"What do you expect from a middle blocker? It was my job to block spikes."
"You could've gone easy on them."
"The game would lose it's sense if that's the case."
"Fine. You're not wrong." Their conversation was cut short after she ceased talking. At least she found out where she first met Tsukishima. She finished the portrait sketch. Grinning, she believed that she captured his features accurately in her drawing. She'd like to hold it near him and compare to make sure though. Satisfied with her work, she went back on turning pages.
"So, you've finally decided to continue to study?" Tsukishima prodded.
She smiled, "I guess. Thank you for talking to me. That was a great stop."
Both of them worked quietly, but now, the irritation they felt towards each other lessened. After some time, a person in the speaker announced that the library will be closing before 6 pm. Tsukishima returned all the books he borrowed and packed his things.
"You're going home?"
"I don't want to come home late. You aren't finished with your notes yet?"
"Yeah, maybe I'll leave five minutes before six."
"Alright. I'll get going now." He swung his bag over his shoulder.
"Hey, wait! Your pen!" (Y/N) abruptly remembered seconds after.
"I don't need it anymore. It was useful, apart from its close on running out of ink."
"But it's yours and you told me to keep my promise!"
"Whatever. Keep it or throw it." He walked out and wore his headphones, having no intention to listen to anyone.
She sighed and checked the ink. More than half of it is gone, but she can use it again if she wishes. (Y/N) placed her fist to her cheek while writing.

Random Tsukishima Kei facts:
In the second prototype chapter (unserialized, one shot, the first idea of the author on how haikyuu will go) Tsukishima was a second-year, which was changed in the serialized version where he's a first-year. His initial height in the prototype chapter is 184cm, a little shorter than his official height (190.1cm). In an extra sketch, Furudate commented, "Tsukki and Tanaka being in the same year would spell chaos!

The Daughter of the Sea - Chapter 8
Tumblr media
(Y/n)'s POV
I know someone at camp resents Percy and me because one night, I come into the cabin alone and find a mortal newspaper dropped inside the doorway, a copy of the New York Daily News, opened to the Metro page. The article takes me almost an hour to read, because the angrier I get, the more the words float around on the page.
GIRL, BOY, AND MOTHER STILL MISSING AFTER FREAK CAR ACCIDENT
By Eileen Smythe
Sally Jackson, son Percy, and daughter (Y/n) are still missing one week after their mysterious disappearance. The family's badly burned '78 Camaro was discovered last Saturday on a north Long Island road with the roof ripped off and the front axle broken. The car had flipped and skidded for several hundred feet before exploding.
Mother, daughter, and son had gone for a weekend vacation to Montauk, but left hastily, under mysterious circumstances. Small traces of blood were found in the car and near the scene of the wreck, but there were no other signs of the missing Jacksons. Residents in the rural area reported seeing nothing unusual around the time of the accident.
Ms. Jackson's husband, Gabe Ugliano, claims that his stepson, Percy Jackson, is a troubled child who has been kicked out of numerous boarding schools and has expressed violent tendencies in the past.
Police would not say whether son Percy is a suspect in his sister's and his mother's disappearance, but they have not ruled out foul play. Below are recent pictures of Sally Jackson, (Y/n), Percy. Police urge anyone with information to call the following toll-free Crimestoppers hotline.
The phone number is circled in black marker.
I wad up the paper and throw it away, flopping down on my bunk on the far edge of the cabin under the window facing the sea.
I remain silent as Percy walks into the cabin, flopping down onto his bunk as well.
That night, I have the worst dream yet.
I was running along the beach in a storm. This time, there was a city behind me. Not New York. The sprawl was different: buildings spread farther apart, palm trees and low hills in the distance.
About a hundred yards down the surf, two men were fighting. They looked like TV wrestlers, muscular, with beards and long hair. Both wore flowing Greek tunics, one trimmed in blue, the other in green. They grappled with each other, wrestled, kicked, and head-butted, and every time they connected, lightning flashed, the sky grew darker, and the wind rose.
I had to stop them. I didn't know why. But the harder I ran, the more the wind blew me back until I was running in place, my heels digging uselessly in the sand.
Over the roar of the storm, I could hear the blue-robed one yelling at the green-robed one, Give it back! Give it back! Like a kindergartner fighting over a toy.
The waves got bigger, crashing into the beach, spraying me with salt.
I yelled, Stop it! Stop fighting!
The ground shook. Laughter came from somewhere under the earth, and a voice so deep and evil it turned my blood to ice.
Come down, little hero, the voice crooned. Come down!
The sand split beneath me, opening up a crevice straight down to the center of the earth. My feet slipped, and darkness swallowed me.
I wake up, sure I'm falling.
I am still in bed in Cabin Three. My body tells me it's morning, but it's dark outside, and thunder rolls over the hills.
A storm is brewing.
I hadn't dreamed that . . .
I hear a clopping sound at the door, a hoof knocking on the threshold.
"Come in?" Percy asks, sounding uncertain.
Grover trots inside, looking worried. "Mr. D wants to see the two of you."
"Why?" I ask, peeking through the curtain separating mine and Percy's side of the cabin.
'He wants to kill . . . I mean, I'd better let him tell you."
Nervously, Percy and I get dressed and follow, sure we were in huge trouble.
For days, Percy and I'd been half expecting a summons to the Big House. Now that we were declared children of Poseidon, one of the Big Three gods who weren't supposed to have kids, I figure it's just a crime for us to be alive. The other gods had probably been debating on the best way to punish us for existing, and now Mr. D is ready to deliver their verdict.
Over Long Island Sound, the sky looks like ink soup coming to a boil. A hazy curtain of rain is coming in our direction. I ask Grover if we'd need an umbrella.
"No," Grover says. "It never rains here unless we want it to."
Percy points at the storm, 'What the heck is that, then?"
Grover glances uneasily at the sky. "It'll pass around us. Bad weather always does."
I realize that he's right. In the week I'd been here, it had never even been overcast. The few rain clouds I'd seen had skirted right around the edges of the valley.
But this storm . . .
This one's huge.
At the volleyball pit, the kids from Apollo's cabin are playing a morning game against the satyrs. Dionysius's twins - Castor and Pollux - are walking around in the strawberry fields, making the plants grow. Everyone is going about their normal business, but they look tense; they keep their eyes on the storm.
Grover, Percy, and I walk up the front porch of the Big House. Dionysus sits at the pinochle table in his tiger-striped Hawaiian shirt with his Diet Coke, just as he had on my first day. Chiron sits across the table in his fake wheelchair. They are playing against invisible opponents - two sets of cards hovering in the air.
"Well, well," Mr. D says without looking up. "Our little celebrities."
I wait.
"Come closer," Mr. D says. "And don't expect me to kowtow to you, mortals, just because old Barnacle-Beard is your father."
A net of lightning flashes across the clouds; thunder shakes the windows of the house.
"Blah, blah, blah," Dionysus grumbles.
Chiron faints interest in his pinochle cards and Grover cowers by the railing, his hooves clopping back and forth.
"If I had my way," Dionysus says, "I would cause your molecules to erupt in flames. We'd sweep up the ashes and be done with a lot of trouble. But Chiron seems to feel this would be against my mission at this cursed camp: to keep you little brats safe from harm."
"Spontaneous combustion is a form of harm, Mr. D," Chiron puts in.
"Nonsense," Dionysus says. "Boy wouldn't feel a thing. Nevertheless, I've agreed to restrain myself. I'm thinking of turning you into a dolphin instead, sending you back to your father."
"Mr. D - " Chiron warns.
"Oh, all right," Dionysus relents. "There's one more option. But it's deadly foolishness." Dionysus rises, and the invisible players' cards drop onto the table. "I'm off to Olympus for the emergency meeting. If the boy is still here when I get back, I'll turn him into an Atlantic bottlenose. Do you understand? And Perseus Jackson, if you're at all smart, you'll see that's a much more sensible choice than what Chiron feels you two must do."
Dionysus picks up a playing card, twists it, and it becomes a plastic rectangle. A security pass. He snaps his fingers. The air seems to fold and bend around him. He becomes a hologram, a wind, then he is gone, leaving only the smell of fresh-pressed grapes lingering behind.
Chiron smiles at me and Percy, but he looks tired and strained. "Sit, Percy,(Y/n), please. And Grover."
We do.
Chiron lays his cards on the table, a winning hand he hadn't gotten to use.
"Tell me, (Y/n)," he says. "What did you make of the hellhound?"
Just hearing the name makes me shudder.
Chiron probably wants me to say, Heck, it was nothing. I eat hellhounds for breakfast. But I don't feel like lying.
"It scared me," I admit. "If you hadn't shot it, I'd be dead."
"You two will meet worse. Far worse, before you're done."
"Done?" Percy asks. "With what?"
"You're quest, of course," Chiron says. "Will you accept it?"
I glance at Grover, who is crossing his fingers.
"Sir," I say, "you haven't told us what it is yet."
Chiron grimaces. "Well, that's the hard part, the details."
Thunder rumbles across the valley. The storm clouds had now reached the edge of the beach. As far as I can see, the sky and the sea were boiling together.
"Poseidon and Zeus," I guess. "They're fighting over something valuable . . . something that was stolen, aren't they?"
Chiron and Grover exchange looks.
Chiron shoots forward in his wheelchair. "How did you know that?"
"The weather since Christmas has been weird, like the sea and the sky are fighting. Then I talked to Annabeth, and she'd overheard something about a theft. And...I've also been having these dreams."
"I knew it," Grover says, his eyes bright.
"Hush, satyr," Chiron orders.
"But it is his quest!" Grover's eyes sparkle with excitement. "It must be!"
"Only the Oracle can determine," Chiron strokes his bristly beard. "Nevertheless, (Y/n), you are correct. Your father and Zeus are having their worst quarrel in centuries. They are fighting over something valuable that was stolen. To be precise: a lightning bolt."
Percy laughs, looking nervous, "A what?"
"Do not take this lightly," Chiron warns. "I'm not talking about some tinfoil-covered zigzag you'd see in a second-grade play. I'm talking about a two-foot-long cylinder of high-grade celestial bronze, capped on both ends with god-level explosives."
"Oh."
"Zeus's master bolt," Chiron says, getting worked up now. "The symbol of his power, from which all other lightning bolts are patterned. The first weapon made by the Cyclopes for the war against the Titans, the bolt that sheered the top off Mount Etna and hurled Kronos from his throne; the master bolt, which packs enough power to make mortal hydrogen bombs look like firecrackers."
"And it's missing?" I guess.
"Stolen," Chiron corrects.
"By whom?" I ask though I guessed what he was going to say.
"By you two," Chiron says and Percy's jaw drops.
"At least"—Chiron holds up a hand—"that's what Zeus thinks. During the winter solstice, at the last council of the gods, Zeus and Poseidon argued. The usual nonsense: 'Mother Rhea always liked you best,' 'Air disasters are more spectacular than sea disasters,' et cetera. Afterward, Zeus realized his master bolt was missing, taken from the throne room under his very nose. He immediately blamed Poseidon. Now, a god cannot usurp another god's symbol of power directly—that is forbidden by the most ancient of divine laws. But Zeus believes your father convinced a human hero to take it."
"But I didn't - We didn't -" Percy goes to say.
"Patience and listen, child," Chiron says. "Zeus has good reason to be suspicious. The forges of the Cyclopes are under the ocean, which gives Poseidon some influence over the makers of his brother's lightning. Zeus believes Poseidon has taken the master bolt and is now secretly having the Cyclopes build an arsenal of illegal copies, which might be used to topple Zeus from his throne. The only thing Zeus wasn't sure about was which hero Poseidon used to steal the bolt. Now Poseidon has openly claimed you two as his children. You were in New York over the winter holidays. You could easily have snuck into Olympus. Zeus believes he has found his thief.
"But we've never even been to Olympus! Zeus is crazy!"
Chiron and Grover glance nervously at the sky. The clouds don't seem to be parting around us, as Grover had promised. They are rolling straight over the valley, sealing us in like a coffin lid.
"Er, Percy . . . ?" Grover says. "We don't use the c-word to describe the Lord of the Sky."
"Perhaps paranoid," Chiron suggests. "Then again, Poseidon has tried to unseat Zeus before. I believe that was question thirty-eight on your final exam...." He looked at Percy.
"The Golden Net?" I guess again. "Poseidon and Hera and a few other gods trapped Zeus in it and wouldn't let him out until he promised to be a better ruler?"
"Correct," Chiron says. "And Zeus has never trusted Poseidon since. Of course, Poseidon denies stealing the master bolt. He took great offense at the accusation. The two have been arguing back and forth for months, threatening war. And now, you two have come along—the proverbial last straw."
"But we're just kids!" Percy protests.
"Percy," Grover cuts in, "if you were Zeus, and you already thought your brother was plotting to overthrow you, then your brother suddenly admitted he had broken the sacred oath he took after World War II, and that he's father, not one, but two mortal heroes who might be used as a weapon against you . . . Wouldn't that put a twist in your toga?"
"But I - we didn't do anything, Poseidon - our dad - he didn't really have this master bolt stolen, did he?" Percy asks, and I remain silent in thought.
Chiron sighs. "Most thinking observers would agree that thievery is not Poseidon's style. But the Sea God is too proud to try convincing Zeus of that. Zeus has demanded that Poseidon return the bolt by the summer solstice. That's June twenty-first, ten days from now. Poseidon wants an apology for being called a thief by the same date. I hoped that diplomacy might prevail, that Hera or Demeter or Hestia would make the two brothers see sense. But your arrival has inflamed Zeus's temper. Now neither god will back down. Unless someone intervenes, unless the master bolt is found and returned to Zeus before the solstice, there will be war. And do you know what a fullfledged war would look like, Percy? (Y/n)?"
"Bad?" Percy guesses.
"I'd guess that it would be like nature at war with itself," I say and Chiron nods.
"Olympians forced to choose sides between Zeus and Poseidon. Destruction. Carnage. Millions dead. Western civilization turned into a battleground so big it will make the Trojan War look like a water-balloon fight," Chiron adds to (Y/n)'s statement.
"Bad," Percy repeats.
"And you, Percy and (Y/n) Jackson, would be the first to feel Zeus's wrath."
And then, it starts to rain. Volleyball players stop their game and start in stunned silence at the sky.
We had brought this storm to Half-Blood Hill. Zeus was punishing the whole camp because of us.
"So we have to find that bolt," I say. "And return it to Zeus."
"What better peace offering," Chiron says, "than to have the son and daughter of Poseidon return Zeus's property.
"If Poseidon doesn't have it, where is the thing?" Percy asks.
"I believe I know." Chiron's expression is grim. "Part of a prophecy I had years ago...well, some of the lines make sense to me, now. But before I can say more, you must officially take up the quest. You must seek the counsel of the Oracle."
"Why can't you tell us where the bolt is beforehand?" Percy asks.
"Because if I did, you would be too afraid to accept the challenge."
I swallow thickly. "Good reason."
"You agree then?" Chiron asks.
I exchange a glance with Percy, then Grover, who nods encouragingly.
Easy for him, I think. We're the ones Zeus wants to kill.
"All right," Percy says. "It's better than being turned into a dolphin."
"Then it's time you consulted the Oracle," Chiron says. "Go upstairs, Percy and (Y/n) Jackson, to the attic. When you come back down, assuming you're still sane, we will talk more."
. . .
"Well?" Chiron asks us.
We slump into our chairs at the pinochle table. "She said we would retrieve what was stolen.
Grover sits forward, chewing excitedly on the remains of a Diet Coke can. "That's great!
"What did the Oracle say exactly?" Chiron presses. "This is important."
My ears are still tingling from the reptilian voice. "She said we would go west and face a god who had turned. We would retrieve what was stolen and see it safely returned."
"I knew it," Grover says.
Chiron doesn't look satisfied. "Anything else?"
"No," Percy says. "That's about it."
He studies Percy's face, then meets my green gaze. "Very well. But know this: the Oracle's words often have double meanings. Don't dwell on them too much. The truth is not always clear until events come to pass."
I get the feeling he knows we're holding something back, and he's trying to make us feel better.
"Okay," Percy says, looking anxious to change topics. "So where do we go? Who's this god in the west?"
"Ah, think, Percy," Chiron says."if Zeus and Poseidon weaken each other in a war, who stands to gain."
"Someone else who wants to take over?" I guess.
"Yes, quite. Someone who harbors a grudge, who has been unhappy with his lot since the world was divided eons ago, whose kingdom would grow powerful with the deaths of millions. Someone who hates his brothers for forcing him into an oath to have no more children, an oath that both of them have now broken."
"Hades," I say, raising an eyebrow.
Chiron nods. "The Lord of the Dead is the only possibility."
A scrap of aluminum dribbles out of Grover's mouth. "Whoa, wait. Wh - what?"
"A Fury came after Percy," Chiron reminds him. "She watched the young man until she was sure of his identity, then tried to kill him. Furies obey only one lord: Hades."
"Yes, but - but Hades hates all heroes," Grover protests. "Especially if he has found out Percy and (Y/n) are children of Poseidon . . ."
"A hellhound got into the forest," Chiron continues. "Those can only be summoned from the Fields of Punishment, and it had to be summoned by someone within the camp. Hades must have a spy here. He must suspect Poseidon will try to use Percy and (Y/n) to clear his name. Hades would very much like to kill these young half-bloods before he can take on the quest."
"Great," I mutter. "That's two major gods who want to kill us."
"But a quest to . . ." Grover swallows. "I mean, couldn't the master bolt be in someplace like Maine? Maine's very nice this time of year."
"Hades sent a minion to steal the master bolt," Chiron insisted. "He hid it in the Underworld, knowing full well that Zeus would blame Poseidon. I don't pretend to understand the Lord of the Dead's motives perfectly, or why he chose this time to start a war, but one thing is certain. Percy and (Y/n) must go to the Underworld, find the master bolt, and reveal the truth."
A strange fire burns in my stomach. The weirdest thing is, it isn't fear. It's anticipation. The desire for revenger. Hades had tried to kill me two times so far with the Minotaur, and the hellhound. It is his fault my mother had disappeared in a flash of light. Now he is trying to frame me, my dad, and my brother for a theft we hadn't committed.
Grover is trembling now; he'd started eating pinochle cards like potato chips.
The poor guy had to complete a quest with me and Percy so he could get his searcher's license, whatever that is, but how can I ask him to do this quest, especially when the Oracle said we were destined to fail?" This is a suicide mission.
"Look, if we know it's Hades," Percy tells Chiron, "why can't we just tell the other gods? Zeus and Poseidon could go down to the Underworld and bust some heads."
"Suspecting and knowing are not the same," Chiron says. "Besides, even if the other gods suspect Hades—and I imagine Poseidon does—they couldn't retrieve the bolt themselves. Gods cannot cross each other's territories except by invitation. That is another ancient rule. Heroes, on the other hand, have certain privileges. They can go anywhere, challenge anyone, as long as they're bold enough and strong enough to do it. No god can be held responsible for a hero's actions. Why do you think the gods always operate through humans?"
"You're saying I'm being used," Percy says.
"I'm saying it's no accident Poseidon had claimed you and (Y/n) now. It's a very risky gamble, but he's in a desperate situation. He needs the two of you."
My dad needs us.
Emotions roll around inside me like bits of glass in a kaleidoscope. I don't know whether to feel resentful or grateful or happy or angry. Poseidon had ignored me for twelve years. Now suddenly he needed me.
3rd Person POV
Percy looks at Chiron. "You've known I was Poseidon's son all along, haven't you?"
"I had my suspicions. As I said . . . I've spoken to the Oracle, too."
(Y/n) gets the feeling that there is a lot he wasn't telling them about the prophecy, but she decides that she couldn't worry about that at the moment. After all, she and Percy were hiding back information too."
"So let me get this straight," Percy says. "We're supposed to go to the Underworld and confront the Lord of the Dead."
"Check," Chiron says.
"Find the most powerful weapon in the universe."
"Check."
"And get it back to Olympus before the summer solstice, in ten days."
"That's about right."
(Y/n) looks over at Grover, who gulps down the ace of hearts.
"But I mention that Maine is very nice this time of year?" he asks weakly.
"You don't have to go," Percy tells him. "I can't ask that of you."
"Oh . . ." He shifts his hooves. "No . . . it's just that satyrs and underground places . . . well . . ." He takes a deep breath, then stands, brushing the shredded cards and aluminum bits off his t-shirts. "You saved my life, (Y/n), Percy. If . . . if you're serious about wanting me along, I won't let the two of you down."
Percy feels so relieved that he wanted to cry, though he didn't think that would be very heroic. Grover is the only friend she'd ever had for longer than a few months. Percy isn't sure what a satyr can do against the forces of the dead but he feels better knowing he'd be with them.
"All the way, G-man," Percy turns to Chiron. "The Oracle just said to go west."
"The entrance to the Underworld is always in the west. It moves from age to age, just like Olympus. Right now, of course, it's in America."
"Where?"
Chiron looks surprised. "I thought that would be obvious enough. The entrance to the Underworld is in Los Angeles."
Percy's POV
"Oh," I said. "Naturally. So we just get on a plane -"
"No!" Grover shrieks. "Percy, what are you thinking? Have you ever been on a plane in your life?"
I shake my head, feeling embarrassed. My mom had never taken me and (Y/n) anywhere by plane. She'd always said we didn't have the money. Besides, her parents had died in a plane crash.
"Percy, think," Chiron says. "You are the son of the Sea God. Your father's bitterest rival is Zeus, Lord of the Sky. Your mother knew better than to trust you in an airplane. You would be in Zeus's domain. You would never come down again alive."
Overhead, lightning crackles and thunder booms.
"Okay," (Y/n) says, not looking up at the storm. "So, we'll travel overland."
"That's right," Chiron says. "Two companions may accompany you. Grover is one. The other has already volunteered if you will accept her help."
(Y/n)'s POV
"Gee," I say, feigning surprise. "Who else would be stupid enough to volunteer for a suicide quest like this?"
The air shimmers behind Chiron.
Annabeth Chase becomes visible, stuffing her Yankees cap into her back pocket.
"I've been waiting a long time for a quest, Seaweed Brain," she says. "Athena is no fan of Poseidon, but if you're going to save the world, I'm the best person to keep you from messing up."
"If you do say so yourself," I say. "I suppose you have a plan, wise girl?"
Her cheeks flush. "Do you want my help or not?"
The truth is, I do. I need all the help I can get.
"A quartet," I say. "That'll work."
"Excellent," Chiron says. "This afternoon, we can take you as far as the bus terminal in Manhattan. After that, you are on your own."
Lightning flashes. Rain pours down on the meadows that were never supposed to have violent weather.
"No time to waste," Chiron says. "I think you should all get packing."

Genshin Impact
Character(s): Childe 《Hydro》, Kaeya 《Cyro》, Diluc 《Pyro》
Genre: Fluff + Light Angst if you look
Type: Headcanon + A Small Scenario
Description: Genshin characters with a roommate/coworker that gives them daily gifts
Warnings: Mentions of low self-esteem (Childe's Part)
My parents sometimes randomly get plushies or flowers for me and put them on my desk when I'm still asleep in the morning- and I was thinking about how some characters would feel/react to someone doing that for them. I'll prolly do another one of these for the other characters I write for.

➢ Kaeya
He noticed that the gifts only began when the both of you had done some work together
Kaeya has a pretty strong intuition, along with some gossipy bar friends, so he kind of knew, but was just waiting to confirm it
He appreciates the little notes of encouragement or praise and the specific flowers that you've chosen
Flora and Lisa have indulged him in a few meanings with each flower so he has some ideas on how you perceive him
There was a pang in his gut when there wasn't a note or a flower one day
He shook his head not long after, perhaps you had forgotten or were running late
But you were gone the whole day
A sigh blew past his lips, his hand pushing the library door open. "Mr. Kaeya!" Glancing over his shoulder with his usual smirk, he lets his hand fall to his side, "Ah, is there anything you need-" He jumped when you quickly lifted your hands to his chest, gently shoving a note and flower into him. "I had to watch over Klee today.." You wished to say more but nothing seemed to come out. He chuckled at your worn form, soon placing a hand over your own, "It was quite lonely without you around, (Y/n). Don't stay away for so long next time." Even though he had the most teasing expression, you knew that came from his heart. "Thank you, Mr. Kaeya. I do hope your day wasn't too bad without me." You smiled, fighting the urge to wink. He scoffed and looked to the side, trying to discreetly hide his flushed face. When had you become such a smooth talker?
➢ Childe
He isn't one to be at home and stay in one place so it's likely that he came home one day and just found a pile of presents on the counter for him- along with a few notes
At first, he wouldn't think they were for him as you're quite popular in Snezhnaya; much to his dismay
The only reason he figured out these were his was when he curiously read through a note
His bitterness was long gone as he found your signature at the bottom of the little card; you thought of him when he was gone
There were materials for cleaning and repairing his weapons, a set of new clothes, and some treats
He honestly couldn't believe that someone would willingly do this for him; he's dreaming isn't he?
But you walk through the door not even a moment later with something he'd been eyeing before his mission
"Childe?" Your eyes were wide, it had been a good month without him around. He seems taller. "Hey did you.." He paused, not sure on how to confirm if the item in your hand was for him or not. You could tell he was mulling himself over. "Why would it be for you?" He shook his head before offering a small smile with a tease, "Who's that for?" He lightly chuckled at your nervous form. You took a deep breath before slowly relaxing yourself, "There's nothing to be scared of." Taking a few steps toward him, you offer up the object in your hands, "You've been working hard so I thought you deserved something." He hummed, a smirk rising to his lips, "Is that why there's a gift for every week I've been gone?" You cough and quickly advert your gaze, shushing him as your heart races. After a few moments, you choke out a response, "You..you deserve recognition."
➢ Diluc
You're neither a coworker or roommate so you most likely had to ask for Dawn Winery's headmaid to make the delivery
Diluc would brush it off as a confession letter or think it's a prank from Kaeya
He does end up reading whatevers in the envelope at the end of the day, sort a "why not" choice
Pleasantly surprised at the warm words and little mascot down by the signature- he'd ask Jean about it when he had the chance since it looked similar to a letter she had gotten last month
Jean explained that you're a kind soul and enjoyed giving encouragement and comfort to those around you even though you may seem prickly in person
Turns out he had seen you around quite often when he works at Angel's Share
You were usually somberly drinking in a corner while writing or drawing
Taking a sip from your beverage, you continue to write paragraphs- only to scribble them out in frustration. The bar was far too loud and you just couldn't get what you wanted on paper. Thinking on it more, your brain felt mushy and most of your thoughts were cut off by others. Too much to drink was your best guess. Resting your elbows on your table, you grasp you hair in your hands. Soon you let yourself slip to the table's surface, closing your eyes with the intent to sooth the aching. "..should probably get home before passing out." Peeling your eyes open, you lift yourself up and gather your things. Standing, you make your way to the counter- to Diluc. "Hey." You greeted him curtly as you set a small box in front of him, "Make sure to get some rest." With a huff, he catches your attention, "Don't forget about yourself." With a smile, you nod and leave the lively bar with some warmth.

four, circus!! (index/description)
☜ three, an all-out fight club!!
☞ five, dots!!
t/w: dead bodies, mention of overdose
"This has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen," Yoongi thinks to himself as he blankly stares at Jimin, transferring the PPT file to the projector.
123 slides in "Reasonable arguments as to why we should date, _̵͚̾͌_̶̢̛̘̅͛̕_̶̡̧̝͗̒̋̌̚_̴̮̒̍̿̃͠ .
"Wrong PowerPoint bro," Jungkook grunts with closed eyes. No doubt the idiot had tried to stalk you throughout the night. It's been three days since Erik had officially enrolled.
Namjoon also has his eyes fixed on the projector, his expression giving nothing away.
"Resigned to death, poor bastard, as you should."
Jimin momentarily looks behind him to see why Jin had started to snort in laughter before scrambling to choose another file.
56 slides in "What do we know about Erik and what to do about it?"
"The title could be less verbose," Jin remarks, spinning his chair around the room.
"You're one to talk, literally," Jimin sneers but, there is very little malice in his voice if any. Besides Namjoon, V and Hope, who actually stuck to his word of minding his business, Yoongi didn't know anyone personally in the room. Though he sure has heard of the connections they had with you. Each weirder than the other.
Namjoon, the CEO, the one who went overboard in commitment and scared you off. Rumour was he offered marriage before the first "I like you." But that as well could be bullshit.
Hope, with the most cordial contact out of all. And also the most distant. You two had fundamentally different perceptions of how the world worked. Incompatible match, as the saying goes.
Jin. Despite the grandeur of his character, Yoongi knew very little of him. Even less as to why you left. He presumed the lack of commitment on both sides.
Jimin, the almost. For five months Yoongi had to hear nothing but coy whispers of just what good friends you two were. What good time you both had jumping back and forth from Paris and home. And then with zero explanation, you weren't. Every once in a while, he'd see the two of you in the hallway. Working hard to suffer through an exchange of pleasantries between long awkward pauses. The whispers had been effectively stomped to death, with no one the wiser as to what the hell had happened.
V, the one you hated and the one who hated you. How the two of you even met was beyond anyone's understanding. How you didn't rip each other's throat out even more so. Why he was here? God only knew.
And the last one, JK. Your trainee before Erik. The one who'd shamelessly bounced, leaving you in the dust when the enrollment came with a nary of thank you. After that, you officially joined the cleaner department and largely went missing from the public eye.
And, of course, Yoongi himself. The only official boyfriend. The one who officially broke both of your hearts.
"If all of you could please focus!" Jimin snapped, standing with a wad of paper in hand, waving it like a teacher in front of particularly annoying group of students.
"He even made notes," Namjoon whispered faintly.
"More like a manifesto," Yoongi snickered, letting his eyes wander over the sheer thickness of the file.
"Silence!" For a split second, Yoongi wanted to make a jab about a chihuahua being able to bark, but having considered his own height, he chose to be silent.
"So, let's start with basics. Erik Genyer. Joined two and a half years ago through a recruitment agent. He's 24, lived in Seattle before moving here. No known parents or siblings." Jimin recounted with ease.
"I hope you didn't look through his records," Namjoon frowned at the screen. "Because I did not authorize that."
"Does it count as looking if it's a brief glance?"
"Yes."
"And yet here you are benefitting from it." Namjoon could only breathe through his nose a tad harder.
"Why are you telling us this?" Jin interjected. "Mr CEO here could just give us his file - we'd read for ourselves."
"I will not. That's against company policy."
"And what you're doing here is completely legal and non - invasive." Jin raised his eyebrows, not phased even in the slightest that he was much below Namjoon's position.
"Silence!" Jimin yelped again at the front. "Has anyone here worked with Erik?"
"Hope definitely has," V piped up from his seat, looking as uninterested as one could. Yoongi narrowed his eyes at him. V took the piercing glare in stride, haughtily turning away.
"Well, yes but..." Jimin shuffled on the stage almost awkwardly. "He has strictly declined the invitation to our little... boy band."
"Wait does that mean he could tell _̸̢͉̦͔̣͈̱̅́́̓͊̇̂̓́̕͝ͅ_̸̨̙͚̻̬͖͉̻͔̑̓͐͜ - I mean R.D.?" Jungkook suddenly asks, eyes wide. Even Yoongi blanched at the thought. Everyone straightened in their seats. This was all fun and games until the moment you knew. Oh, you'd rip each and every one of them a new asshole. All of them could kiss goodbye to any attempt of trying to mend bridges. By that point, there wouldn't even be a river stretching underneath.
"I sincerely hope not." Jimin whispers and they sit in a moment of silence, weighing the risks.
"Heh, hope not." Jin suddenly gives a breathy laugh solely to be met by a general aura of disapproval.
"It's not funny." Namjoon scolds slightly but, Jin being Jin, openly looks him into eyes and goes -
"I know."
Amidst the banter, JK raises his hand shyly.
"I trained with him for a short while."
"And what is he like?" Jimin's eyes almost sparkled at anyone giving an actual insight.
"He must be wearing contacts or something," Yoongi mused, pushing the cap of his water bottle around the table. He knew Jimin to be attractive. No one in the entire company would shut up about it, nevertheless, something about him seemed almost supernatural.
JK shrugged in response.
"A bit rude and careless but talented. He finished training early."
"Did it seem like he was particularly going after her?" Namjoon interrogated further. There was a deep scowl of resentment on his face.
"Uhh, no. I think he was interested in the cleaner department in general. Apparently, he spent most of his orientation there."
"He also spent a month in surveillance. Did you speak with him...V?" If V was surprised by Jimin addressing him personally, he didn't show it as he continued to inspect his nails.
"Didn't even know he was there."
"Why did he stay so long in the cleaner department?" Yoongi asked as he ran over the information on the screen. Besides the already mentioned month in surveillance and a week in networking and relations, this Erik hadn't even tried to apply anywhere else.
"Poor communication skills. I had to throw him out. That's why he was only there a week." Jin explained.
"So you spoke to him?"
"Well, no, Irina," he was interrupted by a hollow thud. Without prompt V had dropped his steel thermos onto the desk, tea splattering everywhere and staining JK's jacket in the process. Both of them fumbled to clean it up with anything they could. V dabbed the desk harshly, the wood creeking at every aggressive wipe. Yoongi saw Jin looking sideways, the same confused expression echoed on his face.
"Well, as I was saying, Irina, R.D.'s friend, I'm sure you're familiar, came to me, said he was causing trouble and asked to refer him."
"And you sent him to R.D.?"
Jin gave a deeply suffering sigh.
"No, I did not send him. I referred him to general management and they gave him to the cleaners ."
"Ok, I get all of this. But what are we supposed to do about him?" Namjoon interrupted, jaw set in a tight grip.
Jimin fell silent at the front of the room.
"Yeah, this was the main question." Yoongi thought bitterly.
It was all a question of ethics, wasn't it? JK could pretend all he wanted to be above it all, to be respectful but then he trailed secret circles around you. Whether from guilt or perhaps a sense of entitlement. Yoongi didn't know or really care. Nevertheless the kid clearly had a hard time differentiating between what he said and what he did. Yoongi was however surprised to see Namjoon be so eager. He quite fancied making himself bald from worrying about the nature of evil. Just how easy it was to hide it behind big aspirations of providing aid. But it seemed as of late all of that was tossed aside.
Jimin was the one who orchestrated this in the first place, and so naturally, everyone looked at him for guidance. He was still shuffling around, nervously fiddling the blue pen.
"Well, first of all, I think we should talk more to R.D." A huff passed around the room.
"Talk to her?" V asked sceptically, mouth set in a straight line and heavy wrinkles carved between brows.
"Do you have any idea how difficult that would be?"
"Certainly it would be for you," Yoongi snarled, earning a harsh glare.
"Listen, at the end of the day, it's not really about us trying to force her into something. It's just to make sure... she's living a safe life. Well, the safest that's possible." Jimin said with enough sincerity to trigger certain insecurities within Yoongi and by the look of it also Namjoon.
It was no secret that between the seven, they were the most possessive over you. Both having the wrong idea that you were theirs. Which is why you left and why you probably were so caught up in Jimin. The purity and sheer selflessness of his sentiments acted like a punch to the gut. The genuine care that he reflected like a sun made the raw wound in Yoongi's chest seep even more. To be loved like that would be a dream come true. Yoongi shifted his attention to the laminated floor.
"We talk to her, find out what her life is like, keep a close eye on what Erik does. Talk to other cleaners about him, and once we find out, she's happy. That's. The. End. Of. That." There was no uncertainty. Jimin was dead serious.
The meeting was adjourned, quite amicably actually, but Yoongi knew that the rest of them had ulterior motives and plans. He had them too.
Jin and JK were no threat. Both were too uncertain of what to do with you.
Jimin had some deep-seated self esteem issues. Despite his 123 slide presentation, the way he spoke made it clear. That's probably why the abrupt parting, Yoongi mused. Both of you most likely shared the same anxiety about not being good enough for the other.
V was just V.
Namjoon was the only one Yoongi was truly worried about. Even from looking at his back, walking headstrong up the stairs, Yoongi could see how stubborn Namjoon was. In a way, it was like looking in a mirror. The possessiveness, the mulish mindset. They'd saw you, all of you and had decided that this was it. Yes, Namjoon would certainly be the toughest rival. However, Yoongi was very good at playing the long game. Especially if he wanted something so bad it felt like his thorax slowly being ripped out.
All that was left was Hope. But he wasn't even a viable player. After all, he hadn't even shown up.
***
"Why the fuck is he so heavy?" Erik grunted, swaying left and right and holding onto his dear life to the bagged pair of legs.
"Rigor mortis...set in," you huffed in answer, from the upfront of the body. "At least he wasn't rotting already. That's just nasty. 1, 2, 3."
Both of you lift the body into the van and let the poor bastard drop with a soft thud. Sweat pooled underneath your white hazmat suit with plastic glasses digging straight into your brain. You banged hard against the "EMT" van, and it drove away, carrying Dr. Martin Leyster to the morgue.
Should the neighbours see anything, it was a sad story of a depressed psychiatrist accidentally overdosing on his own meds. The evidence of him manipulating his most vulnerable patients into bankruptcy erased in you any stray feelings of sympathy though.
"You have the peroxide?" You rifled through the cleanup bag, but instead of answering, Erik began to actively point somewhere behind your back. A cold chill ran up your spine as you realize someone has been watching you stuff the body in the trunk. It quickly dissipates when you see a familiar smile.
"Hard at work, I see," Hope whistled, bounding towards you more like a kid on a school trip, rather than what the reality was.
"May I borrow your mentor for a bit?" He asked politely, still smiling up at Erik. There was no warmth in his expression.
"You are after all now an official member of the cleaner crew. Surely you can handle this on your own."
Erik looks at you for a moment before giving a loud sigh and trudging back to Leyster's office, the white toolbox angrily swishing back and forth in his hand.
Without hesitation, you remove the glasses from your head, revelling in the ease of pressure. Hope had stopped smiling altogether, looking quite pensive.
"What brings you here?" You ask lightly. To see him here is not worrying per se, but certainly interesting. He gives a quick shrug.
"Nothing much. Wanted to see how you were doing after that runt's little stunt." You only laugh at the shallow animosity. Erik's talent to drive people out of their patience was truly remarkable.
"I'm doing fine. You know... working. What about you?"
"I've been working as well."
You both fall silent.
"You ever thought about leaving the BH?" He suddenly asked, and you quirk a brow at the question.
"Not particularly. Have you?" Hope focuses a blank gaze at the grey walls of the multi-story apartment complex.
"A little bit. Last few days especially." You stand in muted shock. Hope was the last person you thought would quit. He was, without doubt, the most devoted, the most passionate out of all the hundreds of employees. He lived for the cause, he himself said so. And yet now he stood uncertain in front of you. Not really the bright and friendly Hope everyone knew, not really the strict and somewhat terrifying training teacher. He was just...quiet. It was an upsetting scene.
"Do you want to go for a drink or a lunch, maybe?" You offer, reaching for the zipper of the white suit. Yes, Erik could handle this on his own. He was a big boy. Hope hastily placed his hand atop of yours, pausing the movement. Even through the fabric, it radiated warmth. No wonder people called him sun. He frowned at the conjoined hands, lightly stroking his thumb over your knuckles before lighting up like a Christmas tree.
"No, no. I don't want to burden you with my problems." You didn't believe his smile for a second.
"Well, I won't steal you away for much longer, the pup might get anxious." He turned around, by the looks of ready to sprint off.
"Hey, wait!" He paused, not looking back.
"Do you why JK has been stalking me?"
"He has?"
He had. The first time you noticed a shifting figure in the background, you wrote it off to the combination of hangover and exhaustion. The second time he'd run off into the night faster than you could catch up. The third time you nearly flung yourself off the roof when seeing a pair of doe eyes staring back at you from an empty apartment building.
"There isn't like an alliance going around between some of my... acquaintances?" Truth be told, you found the very idea ridiculous, but it had wormed its ugly way into your brain and was now near impossible to get out. JK, Jimin, Yoongi and Namjoon wouldn't even get along with each other. Even though those four were most likely to meddle in your business. However, if looking realistically, it was probably just your paranoia taking an intensive round. Seeing suspicious cars, watchful eyes and snooping noses where there were none. Hope threw you a sardonic smile.
"That would just be stupid."

Lately, I've found myself drawn to stories ( and I mean drawn to as in envisioning those stories in my head, thinking them through to the very last detail, not reading, let alone writing them down, because I've long since accepted that they will never turn out quite the same on the paper ) where Red is the one who'd been seriously hurt and, therefore, rendered unconscious for an indefinite amount of time and worried Liz is the one who doesn't leave his side, hoping and praying and pleading that he would wake up. Probably, something that has to do with how unfair it is that we've seen Red keep vigil by hurt!Lizzy's side – playing music for her, holding her hand, reading to her etc. – a number of times and yet, over the course of 8 seasons, never have ever been allowed the pleasure of seeing Liz do the same for him ( not even when he was shot – because she left to retrieve the Fulcrum and couldn't come back until the fight was over – or when he was poisoned – because she'd been waiting to be cleared to see him and he ran away the moment he wasn't actively dying, because that's Red for you all ), even though she loves and cares about him as much as he loves and cares about her.
I mean, just imagine the possibilities!
Liz pacing around the waiting area of Red's mobile hospital while he's in surgery, unable to think about anything else other than how he looked – battered and broken and barely alive – when they've found him and how his head rested in her lap ( she could almost convince herself that he was merely dozing, if he wasn't so deathly pale and still and there wasn't so much blood on his clothes and her clothes and her hands and the backseat of the car ) and his hand was limp in her death grip as they rushed him to his doctors and she whispered words of reassurance and encouragement to him even though she knew he couldn't hear her and how she had to fight the instinct to curl around her lover and snarl at anyone who would come close because she can't let him be hurt further as the medics took him away from her, exchanging observations and orders that didn't sound particularly reassuring. She's also acutely aware of the fact that Red is fighting for his life – there, just a few feet away from her – and, though he's the strongest man she's ever known, he may not win, and so she makes a promise to the empty air in front of her that she will kill him herself if he dares to give up on her and Agnes like that now, when they've just reached the good, right place in their relationship, just confesses their feelings to each other. At some point, Dembe most certainly pulls Liz in for a hug, letting her cry in his shoulder, doing his best to comfort her ( even though there's nothing that can bring her more comfort than Red's hug, when he – alive and whole – wraps his arms protectively around her and holds her close and lets her hide from the whole world in his arms, his chest, his shoulder and neck – wherever she prefers to burrow her face at the time – and the memory itself makes her cry harder, because there's a possibility that he will never hug her like that again ), even though he's just as worried and scared as she is, and Mr Kaplan helps Liz clean up, washing away Red's blood from her hands and producing seemingly out of the thin air fresh clothes for her to change into.
Red, of course, pulls through the surgery, beating all odds, and Liz's heart floods with relief at the good news before sinking when the doctor explains to her and Dembe and Mr Kaplan the extent of Red's injuries and that it's impossible to say when – or even if – he wakes up.
And so the waiting game begins. Liz doesn't leave Red's side, holding his hand, stroking his knuckles with her thumb and never letting go, constantly talking to him and reading to him and even asking Dembe to bring the record player and some records from the Bethesda apartment to play to him, hoping that it would elicit some kind of response from him. Yet, as they days go by, there's not a single, smallest sign that he's aware of anything that's going on around him, that he's still there somewhere and is trying to find his way back to her, to them – he doesn't stir, doesn't so much as flutter his eyelashes, and Liz grows more desperate with each passing day, even though the doctor assures her that Red's slowly but surely improving ( but she can't see it with her own eyes, and if she can't see it, she's less likely to believe it, the more time passes with him just lying there, undisturbed by the loud, chaotic world around him ).
And then there's Agnes... While Liz keeps vigil at Red's bedside, the babysitting duties are split equally between Aram and Samar, Charlene and Cooper, Ressler and Audrey and Dembe and Mr Kaplan. Yet more often than not whoever picks little Agnes up from school and / or her ballet classes brings her over to the safe-house where Liz and Red are. She doesn't seem to be as unnerved by Red's state as her mommy is, climbing on his bed each time she visits ( after giving her mommy the biggest hug, of course ) and leaning in close to him, examining his face thoughtfully before half-asking, half-stating "He's still tired, mommy?". And Liz usually replies with a hoarse "Yes, baby" because she doesn't trust herself not to get choked up if she tries to answer more eloquently. Agnes simply nods then, satisfied with the explanation why he hasn't woken up yet, and settles against Red's side – mindful of his injuries and the spider web of wires and tubes connecting him to all sorts of monitors and machines – and either naps ( especially, on ballet classes days ) or tells her mommy and Red ( she talks to him just like Liz does much too easily – promising him to show him the new moves she's learnt when he wakes up etc. – as if she's already done that before or seen anyone else do that... unbeknownst to Liz, she did both – when Liz herself was in a coma, Agnes both saw Red talk to her mommy and was encouraged by him to talk to her, too, because it may help her mommy sleep easier and maybe she'll get better sooner and finally wake up ) about her day or does her homework or draws ( more often than not, she draws either cards for Red to read when he wakes up or just things she wants him to see ). And when the time comes for her to leave, she always kisses Red on the cheek, wishing him "sweet dreams" and to get better soon, and then gives her mommy, who tries so very hard not to tear up but fails miserably, a hug and a kiss, too, and tells her frequently that she shouldn't cry because Red is just too tired, just like she – Liz – once was, and that he just needs to sleep a bit more.
And when the door behind Agnes closes and Liz is sure her daughter won't see / hear her, she breaks down hard, in big, ugly sobs, because her little girl shouldn't be acting so naturally in this kind of situation and because she wishes so hard that Red just woke up, because she can't do this, any of this, without him.
In the end, once his body has healed itself enough and he regained enough of his strength, Red, of course, does wake up. It's a slow process, and Liz thinks she might either faint or go mad from the overwhelming feelings that are swirling inside of her when Red moves for the first time in what seems to her like forever – squeezing her hand feather-lightly – and when he leans slightly, unconsciously into her touch when she strokes his cheek – out of habit, without even expecting any sort of reaction from him and being pleasantly surprised – and when he opens his eyes for the first time – it's a brief occurrence, with his eyes slipping shut tiredly again after just a few moments, and he's still pretty much out of it, apparently, not even noticing her presence by his side, but for Liz it's a major event – and when he finally, finally looks directly at her – alive and conscious and alert – and calls her "Lizzy". He's still weak and his voice sounds terrible and Liz knows she shouldn't let all of her pent-up feelings – the fear and despair and frustration and love and relief and exhaustion – out on him like that – he's just woken up, after all – but she can't hold back the tears nor the jumbled mess of "thank you"s and "I love you"s and " "I've missed you"s and "I'm so so happy you're back" and "I was so worried" and "Don't ever scare me like that again" that spills from her lips as she leans in to kiss him lightly and give him the gentlest of hugs...
(Since I'm not a ficwriter and, therefore, have no intentions of using this pile of ideas/images/feelings myself, I wouldn't mind at all if you or any other writer drew inspiration from this rambling of mine)
Ahhhhh 😭😭😭 Are you sure you're not a fic writer, anon?? Cause this reads like some quality hurt/comfort to me!! 🥲🥲 Honestly, this is a lovely scenario to imagine & it gives me a slightly bitter sense of satisfaction to think of Liz suffering through just a fraction of the time Red spent by her side while she was in her coma... especially if it's the catalyst for fEeLiNgS to emerge tee hee bc, you're RIGHT, we were woefully deprived of those situations in the show & I'll never not be sad about it tbh. More specifically, things I love the most about this in no particular order: Liz having to "fight the instinct to curl around her lover & snarl" *swoon*, Liz swearing she will kill him herself if he dies LMAO, Dembe hugging her for comfort & Mr. Kaplan helping her get cleaned up 🥺🥺🥺, Liz playing records for Red yasss, AGNES & everyone taking turns babysitting her while she misses her Daddy desperately but deals with the situation with a maturity & grace beyond her years in an effort to help her grieving Mommy through it cool cool mkay mkay, Liz only breaking down once Agnes leaves OWWW, anddddd Liz being a blubbering mess when Red finally wakes up & calls her "Lizzie" & they kiss *whispers* it's fine, i'm fine 🙃 IN CONCLUSION, I love this anon, thank you for sharing this lovely little AU with me!! 🥰 And much, much love to you, of course, my friend!! ❤️
