“tooru-san..” you murmured quietly, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes as you made your way to the brunet, sliding onto his lap. “the bed feels cold without you.. are you almost done..?”

a chuckle left the setter’s lips as he turned the volume down a bit on the tv before placing your head on his shoulder. “that so? did you really miss your tooru-san that much?” he asked you softly, laughing at the whine that left your lips. it was enough to answer his question. “okay, okay.. i’ll tell you what — we cuddle here for a bit while i finish this set, since this match has two more sets..” he muttered before clearing his throat. “and then we’ll go in our room together, okay?”

you weighed his words, contemplating his suggestion before nuzzling into his neck, loosing a quiet breath. “you promise?”

“i promise.” the brunet confirmed, smiling softly as you got more comfortable on his lap, slipping one hand idly into his hair- an old trick you would use to either calm him down.. or in this case, serenade him.

tooru hummed at the action, aware of your true motives, but he couldn’t complain. he had his most favorite and beloved person in the universe clinging and cuddling him while running their fingers through his hair. and although it made him sleepy, he was on cloud nine.

“goodnight, y/n-chan.” he chuckled once he felt your fingers slow to a stop, rising from his spot on the couch to carry you back to your shared bedroom.

⌗ but he teases you for it. why wouldn’t he? his dearest lover wants to be close and card their fingers through his hair!

⌗ “do my ears deceive me, y/n-chan? ya wanna play with my hair?? hold on lemme get my recorder so i can keep this on file-OW! DON’T PULL!”

⌗ playing with his hair honestly calms him down really easily, especially when he’s on edge from a game, argument with osamu, or whatever else might be bothering him in the moment. it just resets him a little :’)

“you okay, ‘tsumu?” you asked upon stepping into your shared flat, doggy bag in hand. “samu asked me to bring you this when i went to onigiri miya today after my shift.” you added softly, joining him on the sofa. “everything okay?”

the blond looked over at you for a moment before letting a huff out, shaking his head. “don’t wanna say. yer gonna think it’s dumb.” he grumbled back, sinking more into the couch while you blinked.

it couldn’t be that bad, right?

a sincere smile crossed your lips as you petted his head gently. “come on, ‘tsumu. you can tell me anything! i promise i won’t laugh or think it’s dumb.” you assured him, placing the food down before patting your thigh.

for a moment he looked you up and down, then at the food. perhaps it wouldn’t hurt to tell you.

he let out a breath before lowering his head onto your lap, feeling your fingers weave through his hair in such a soothing manner. he could never tire of it, and somehow, it made him less reluctant. “i was playin’ switch with shoyo-kun and bokuto-kun, when this tiny ass spider suddenly crawled onto the table and freaked the shit outta omi-kun.” an exasperated sigh. “so he took his cleaning solution and started sprayin’ all frantically.. which got onto the joycons.” he confessed, pointing to the envelope on the coffee table. “so i have to send them for repairs, meaning NO SWITCH THIS WEEKEND.”

silence.

“y/n-chan..?” he called out, looking up to see you shielding your mouth — from laughing. “YER LAUGHING?? TRAITOR!!”

⌗ he likes it a lot! he’s on the neutral side with physical affection compared to atsumu, but doesn’t reject it lol

⌗ whenever you ask he’s always happy to oblige, loves feeling your hands in his hair, anyway. it relaxes him and just feels super good in general.

⌗ honestly takes him back to lunch time in high school under the trees, just laying on your lap while you ran your fingers through his hair.

⌗ doesn’t really say much when you play with his hair, he’s just got his eyes closed while you do it or is watching the cooking channel with you.

“hard day at work?” osamu asked from the kitchen, feeling your arms around his waist as you nodded against his back.

“something like that.” came your low sigh, followed by an annoyed grumble. “my boss gave me this really tough manuscript to edit.” ah, of course.

“did they now?” he asked, to show he was listening, and you hummed in agreement.

“sure did. i don’t get it, samu. they’d publish this piece of shit work, but not my story?? it’s preposterous.” you grumbled, pouting when your lover let out a laugh. what was so funny anyway? “hey!! don’t laugh! i’m genuinely irked by this!”

“sorry, love.” he chuckled a little, sliding the vegetables into the curry he was preparing before turning to kiss your head. “didn’t mean to laugh, just thought ya sounded a little cute there.” he responded, and it was true. you did sound adorable to him. “but you’ll find the right publisher someday, the world’s just not ready for yer book to destroy the market.”

you were reluctant at first with his words, but gave in, anyway. it was osamu miya, your everything. how could you possibly resist? “i suppose, i can wait a bit longer..” you agreed, albeit begrudgingly. “but that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook!”

the gray eyes male rose a brow before turning the knob on low. “that so? well, what would i have to do to be off the hook?” he asked, placing one hand at your waist while the other cupped your cheek.

a grin spread across your lips before you slipped your fingers into his hair. “i think you know the answer to that.” and that he did.

“oh?” tetsuro rose a brow, noting the ds in your hands, which had his suspicions rising. “dare i ask where you got that from?” he inquired, taking up the vacant spot on the bed as he leaned over your shoulder.

your eyes barely lifted from the screen as you hummed, directing your character to a save point before looking over at your lover with a smile. “i think you might know the answer to that already.” you laughed, leaning up to kiss his cheek. “kenma let me borrow it for the week.” just as he suspected.

a hum left the cat eyed male’s lips as he got comfortable in his spot, scooting closer to you. “i figured as much.” he mused, draping an arm around your waist. “think you got room for one more on your chest? or is that reserved for video games only?”

you rose a brow at his response before letting out a laugh. “is that pettiness i detect, tetsu?” you asked, snickering further before letting out a breath. “i suppose i can make room for tonight..” you drawled out, turning off the device before placing it on your nightstand to charge.

a feline smirk etched onto kuroo’s lips as he wrapped his legs around your waist, moving his head to your chest as he closed his eyes. “perfect, that saves me the bribery.” he snickered out, feeling your fingers card gently through his hair as you scoffed, but smiled anyway.

“i know- sorry for missing dinner with you.. tenma-san wanted me to stay longer to try and figure out the direction of the new chapter he’s writing.” akaashi sighed out, sleep evident on his visage. he’d been working hard on finishing the chapter for three days now to meet the deadline, but it was taking a toll he hadn’t quite acknowledged yet.

but you did.

“keiji..” you murmured quietly before patting your lap. “come, lay down for a bit.. you’ve been working really hard, so you deserve to give yourself some time to relax.” you told him, smiling a little. “at least the chapter is finished so you can rest for a little without worrying of what needs to be done next.”

it was true, the turquoise eyed male knew it to be true, but he just couldn’t relax.. he kept thinking back to it, if what he done was good enough to be published for the public to see. the last thing he wanted to was let tenma down after all and —

“keiji.” you called again and he snapped from his thoughts, nodding slowly.

“sorry, sorry..” he muttered back, laying down on the vacant space while he rested his head on your lap. “how is this meant to help, though?”

a sigh left your lips, thinking the boy to be clueless. a few days at the office and he was up in the clouds. “just give it a second.” you told him, removing his glasses before carding your fingers through his hair, massaging him gently.

within a few minutes, he was out like a light.

Hang in there anon! Even if Ruby has grown, Sarina's love for Goro is basically frozen in time. I'm sure that if Sarina had had the chance to grow older, her love for Goro would've naturally transitioned into something more age appropriate. As it is though, it was born within the bubble of her hospital room where Goro was one of the only two good things she had in her life, and then Ruby continued to nurture it through the years by desperately hoping she may come across him again.

For years, Goro has been her romanticized, idealized, impossible first love. So when she finds out that Aqua is Goro, she isn't thinking This is inappropriate, he is my brother! She is instinctively reacting the same way Sarina would've reacted to reuniting with Goro. Ruby needs time to process her feelings.

I also think that Sarina's feelings for Goro were the innocent kind of love where a child is like: This person makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside! I want to be with them forever! We should get married!

So eventually, I'm sure Ruby will realize that being Aqua's sister is perfect, because this way they already are forever bonded to each other.

People are saying that? They're really trying to find every possible reason under the sun to hate on her 😂 I think one valid critique would be to say that Akane made that offer while not being sure of her own feelings/thinking Aqua had no feelings for her, but... how is that worth hating her? If I didn't love Akane, I'd have just felt sad for her—hating her would've never crossed my mind lol

I mean, I'm not sure we can generalize. But from what I've seen, people ship just as hard there as we do over here, it's just that they're better at separating fandom from canon. If the ship they like doesn't happen, they usually won't go on a public tirade against the work—they may criticize it a bit in their own corner, but usually they just continue shipping their thing in peace.

All in all though, Aka doesn't seem like the type to do what people want him to do. I believe he will do whatever he feels works best for the story he wants to tell lol

Ohhh that's interesting! In the few months that Ruby spent on Revenge Mode, she did show more ruthlessness than Aqua would be capable of, so maybe you're right and Crow Girl would've ideally wanted Ruby to be the one carrying it out.

Crow Girl is 100% right though, Aqua just isn't cut for revenge. He is too soft-hearted, too kind. He may be fine with everyone hating him, but he won't be fine with anyone but him suffering, so he is doomed to fail lol

Off the top of my head: flustered Aqua, whenever he makes Akane pout, Akane trying to feed him, Aqua getting caught-off-guard when Akane can tell he wants to talk about breaking up, the whole do-you-have-that-kind-of-feelings-for-me? talk and Akane teasing him when he comes to pick her up with the umbrella are some of their funniest moments for me 😂

Yes!! You have a very good point anon, Aqua's and Akane's reconciliation is being saved for later. It's just like the next Akane volume cover, the fact that we haven't gotten one yet shows that we will be getting some nice Akane chapters in the future.

Thanks anon, I'm glad you see it too! Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but in all honesty after Chapter 123 I now have a hard time picturing Aqua's feelings for Kana as romantic. Kana's are the wild card, since hers have always been portrayed as romantic. We'll have to wait and see but so far, she seems to be following in Maki's (Kaguya-Sama) steps lol

I think the difference is that Kana's "radiance" comes from her genuine feelings. When she feels down, she can't shine. When she is happy, she shines brightly like the sun.

That's indeed the reason why she was only able to shine as an idol while Aqua was there. He was the reason she became an idol in the first place, and he's also the one she performed for; the one she wanted looking at her.

So while Ai (mostly) shone through the character she carefully constructed for herself, Kana shines due to her true feelings.

I do think that some readers aren't particularly interested in understanding him. At the same time, I get it because not everyone is reading OnK with the desire to analyse it. Some people just read it/watch it for fun and without paying much attention, which is perfectly fine although perhaps not exactly the best approach to Aka's writing lol

It's fine though, the person Aqua is will be pretty obvious by the end of the manga, so anyone who has missed it so far will surely get it by then!

do you really think Goro like Sarina in a romantic ways?

No, I don't! There's no chance of Goro liking Sarina romantically, he saw her like an innocent child and treated her as such. There's no ambiguity there at all, his "I'll think about it when you're 16" was just a round-about way of turning her down while gently reminding her of their age-gap. They both knew that Sarina likely wouldn't make it to 16, so I believe it was also Goro's way of trying to make both, himself and Sarina, imagine a future where Sarina was still alive. It's so sad 😭

And yes, the fact that Akane is so different is a great thing! She's also the only one that doesn't seem to have family issues, so there's even less for Aqua to project onto her. The obvious exception being when Akane temporarily lost the will to live, since Aqua likely could empathize 😭

You're absolutely right anon! For some people, it's like the Aqua/Akane relationship jumped from Chapter 30 to Chapter 98 with absolutely nothing in between—except for Chapter 81 and 87, but even then, only two panels count. The rest doesn't matter 😂

And it's not like there aren't alternative ways to interpret their relationship without ignoring everything that's happened between them and all their development. Hell, they could even say: yeah Akane almost got him, but failing to understand that Aqua just needed her by her side cemented her loss. She lost her chance—or something, and it would be a perfectly valid take! But some people just can't acknowledge that Aqua and Akane have a genuine, meaningful bond because they either a) want Aqua to be an edgelord b) want Aqua to only have eyes for their girl of choice.

Luckily, this willful denial of Aqua and Akane's bond can't change what's written in the manga lol

Yes, always! Even if sometimes I'm a little embarrassed because I feel that "Thank you" is not enough to express what I feel every time I receive a comment.

Sorrow, a very sad little Harringrove with character death.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

This is hard... but at the moment the one that holds my heart is I'm so good at telling lies and no, the last chapter hasn't been posted yet!

I'm looking forward to the moment someone will actually write something awful about my stories, but for the moment I was lucky enough to have only mildly bad comments.

I do but I try to keep it sweet and, apart from some PWPs, it usually takes a lot for my character to get to the smut part: they have to earn it!

I wrote a crossover between The Crow and Stranger Things (It can't rain all the time) and some crossover for a Metalsandwhich event. The crazy one I wrote is a crossover between Jurassic Park and Kinktober for the Metalsandwich Movie Marathon, but it was so fun! 😂

I started writing in Italian and translated two of my fics into English (one of them being one of the longest fics I wrote). Never again: it takes forever and it's super boring because I already know the story😅

Ages ago, when I used to write in Italian on another platform I did. It was a LOTR fic Aragorn/Legolas and it was a wonderful experience but I don't think I would be able to do the same in English.

in this moment Steddie, but I'm a big fan of Harringrove and Metalsandwich too.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I'll finish all of them because for me it's a pac.t between me and my readers: they give me their trust and I don't want to disappoint them.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm a very fast writer and I try to do my best to be better every time I start a new story

17.What are your writing weaknesses?

I always have to fight a bit with the smut scenes because it's a subtle equilibrium between being too clinical and letting the characters enjoy themselves.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I did it and I can do it easily because I speak four languages but in reality, I used it only one time: if the story needs it it's ok but sometimes it sounds farfetched

The first fic I wrote ages ago was for City Hunter (a Japanese manga), after that, I wrote for Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Now, after almost 15 years, I'm back thanks to Steddie!

What’s their go-to fifteen minute meal?

I do see Mukuro as someone who eats out a lot. If he’s not up to going out, I think he survives on junk food – chips and instant ramen are a lot of what he eats. He likes spicier chips and his go-to instant ramen is Ippudo Tonkotsu Ramen.

How would they describe their perfect vacation?

Eventful. Mukuro does have his moments where he wants a little breathing room but mostly, he’s not one to sit around and do nothing. He wouldn’t take true vacations often, since even when travelling, he has plans and things in the works that he’s keeping himself occupied with.

What’s the most read book on their bookshelf?

It’s a tie between Machiavelli’s The Prince and Nietzsche’s On the Genealogy of Morality.

If they had to describe themselves as a type of shoe, which type would they choose? Why?

I think I would compare Mukuro to a worn-in pair of good leather boots. Strong enough to take a beating, practical and long-lasting, but changeable enough to go with a lot of different things.

What song would they choose as their theme song?

I’m going to cheat here but Mukuro has a leitmotif in the anime that I think really fits him perfectly and at least the first five or six seconds play in my head every time he showed up in the manga.

What’s the oldest item in their refrigerator?

Honestly, nobody cleans out the mini fridge in Kokuyo Land enough…there’s a little piece off a block of cheese that is old enough to have filled the entire Ziploc baggie it’s in with mold.

Do they have an emergency treat (ice cream, cookies, candy, etc.) hidden somewhere in their kitchen for bad days? What is it?

It’s ice cream. Mukuro changes his favourite flavour of ice cream up a lot, but he normally does have a tub hidden in the back of the little freezer. Doesn’t really matter though, because no matter how much stuff he piles in front of it, Ken or Fran ends up eating it on him before Mukuro actually wants it…maybe Chikusa once or twice, though Ken still ends up getting blamed.

What’s their weirdest bedtime ritual?

Mukuro has to brush his teeth. Pretty normal, yeah…except he brushes them one by one, first along the bottom and then along the top, going tooth by individual tooth. He always ‘forgets’ to floss though; the feeling of the waxy string kind of drives him insane, especially since he has sensitive gums.

Who/what is the one thing that can make them smile no matter how terrible their day has been?

Honestly, not to get too sappy but it is Ken and Chikusa, and then eventually Chrome and Fran too. As someone who never really had the luxury of a family or of people he could rely on, those four, while they drive him insane and while he isn’t above using them (though they willing consent to it), are really his own version of a safe, happy, warm place.

Where do they go when they need some time alone?

Mukuro is lucky enough in that, when he needs to retreat, he doesn’t need to go far. If it’s safe for him to do so, he simply retreats into his mind. Given the powers he has, his mind is more of a retreat than most other people’s, obviously.

What’s one conspiracy theory that they secretly agree with?

Mukuro has very little faith in the world, honestly, and he could easily be convinced of most conspiracy theories, with the only one he strongly disbelieves in being the whole flat earth theory.

Who’s the person they most want to tell when they hear a funny joke?

Honestly, it’s usually Chikusa or Chrome. Ken is too easy to make laugh so there’s no satisfaction there. Fran will just insult any joke. Both Chikusa and Chrome, while near impossible to make laugh, do both have senses of humour, and there’s a sense of accomplishment Mukuro feels in making either of them laugh.

What’s the first section of the newspaper (or online news source) that they check each day?

Mukuro subscribes to a lot of different news sites and does check them, keeping an eye on both major world news, on smaller news stories in places where the Mafia has strongholds, and in the tabloids, which tell the truth far more than people would think.

This one is kind of obvious, as it’s shown in canon that he calls the rest of the Kokuyo Gang, including M.M. when he needs to be broken out of jail. He’s likely arrested on one of the many, many crimes he’s wanted for, let’s be honest. Mukuro isn’t exactly the picture of the ideal, law-abiding citizen.

What’s the one scent that most reminds them of home?

Blood. With the human experimentation being such a big part of his youth, and then the infiltration and slaughter of Lanchia’s family being another big part of his childhood, the smell of blood almost permeates all his memories of ‘home’ for him, though he’s learning to replace that smell with the smell of the damp earth, wet dog, apples, and that fancy smelling body soap that Chikusa likes so much.

What do they consider their greatest achievement?

Though he doesn’t consider his greatest achievement accomplished yet, as I do believe that, even at the end of the story, Mukuro does still have an intent to wipe out the rotted, evil parts of the Mafia world, I do think the fact that he has escaped Vindice prison, TWICE, which is supposed to be inescapable, is something he’s definitely a little proud of.

How much time do they spend on the internet each day?

I do think that, while the internet is a source of information for Mukuro, it’s not his main or only source, and that he really does keep his internet time relatively short, no more than a couple hours a day.

What’s their go-to procrastination activity?

Mukuro doesn’t really procrastinate all that often, actually. He’s pretty motivated and ambitious as a person but when he is putting something off, he normally spends a lot of time with the others, letting them drag him into stuff or deliberately provoking odd situations just to have the excuse to put off whatever it is that he genuinely doesn’t want to do.

If someone were to make a movie of their life, who would they want to play them?

Nobody. Absolutely nobody. Mukuro’s story would never get told because it’s not really one he wants publicly told and he would honestly stop it from getting out or ever even being thought of as a movie.

Is there a number in their phone that they should definitely delete but just can’t seem to erase?

He still has Lanchia’s cell phone number and he updates it every time that the man changes it. He really doesn’t need it…it’s just a ‘to be safe’ feeling that having it gives Mukuro.

My main goal when I first started drawing is basically to draw what I was obsessed with at the time, I started taking art seriously in middle school when I first made a short comic of my cat OC (whose design is a rip off of one of the characters in puku puku tennen kairanban manga) and showed it to my friends, they liked it and always asked me to make more.

Then in 8th grade my fondness for comic and art grew much more because my dad finally let me buy some manga at the bookstore (when I was in elementary school I had to hide this 90s shojo manga because I didn't want my parents to know I read such things), plus I shared the same interest with a close friend in middle school so I just kept making more and more comics of this series we liked, and idk, it just made me happy in some way, I got to draw my favorite characters, was able to realize this random scenario of said characters in my head, and made my friend happy on top of that.

I'm majoring in graphic design but I'm actually more interested in illustration and comic, so drawing fanart is like escapism for me because none of the subjects I took ever let me express my specific interest (I took a comic subject in the 7th semester and it was the only moment I could draw what I really wanted without the professors bashing me, I was even able to slip a Reigen cameo in one of the assignments)

And not gonna lie I think college didn't really help me much in terms of improving my drawing skill because they didn't teach us anything about the basics of illustration since the courses I was taking put more emphasis on graphic design, it DID help me hone the compositioning skill however. I guess the stress college has put me in made draw more fanart thus indirectly becoming a practice in and of itself.

And for the practice, I think you can say that, I didn't try to improve the big picture as a whole, instead it's done bits by bits, realizing mistakes once I'm able to observe things clearer and better. I remember when I was into AA I always drew the male bodies shaping like fridges and I didn't see anything wrong with it, but when I got into DGS I started to be able to see a mistake in that. I even realized the Reigen drawing above has bad a proportion even tho it seemed fine to me before.

Hi, I'm the anon who asked your top fav moments from bnha & op. Same as you, I I also curious of other people's favorite things. Many people like to talk negative of some things, so why not focus on the good (favorite) things... (I know it's kinda cliche).

Also for nostalgia. I watched One Piece first time about 20 years ago (I was 6 or 7) and I don't follow it again in the last 10 years. I don't think will follow it now, but One Piece will always have special place in me. (Now I just sounded old, huh...)

oooo okay I definitely haven't watched a ton of anime or anything but I definitely have a solid amount of shows ticked off my list

(this got long surprise surprise so I'm putting it under a read more)

so based on what you said you've watched so far, you mostly seem to be into anime that's more of a mix of slice of life with vague fantastical elements. the only thing off the top of my head I can think of that fits that vibe is fruits basket, which I'll be honest I only got a couple episodes into but didn't end up completing. that's not because it was bad or anything, I actually really liked the characters, it just didn't grab me. but I've heard amazing things about it! also, when I'm talking about it I'm referring to the more recent remake from 2019 as I've heard that's the better one (?) but also I've never watched the og version (which is like from 2001) so I can't say that for sure that's just what I've heard people say

now onto recommendations of things I've actually watched

I haven't seen bleach but from what I know it's a shōnen manga, so if you like action/adventure kind of stuff the best anime I have ever watched (and tbh one of the best pieces of media I've ever seen hands down) is the anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. like, it's widely considered one of the greatest of all time and for good reason. the series is so well-written. all of the characters are so interesting and well-formed, their relationships are nuanced, the story itself deals with a lot of very heavy topics very skillfully while still keeping a lot of moments for humor. and also if you like my crimeboys fics, the center point relationship in fullmetal alchemist is between two brothers who love each other so fucking much just aaaaaa Ed and Al my BOYS. seriously I would not have the crimeboys brothers brainrot today if I hadn't been obsessed with fmab as a teenager. now fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood is on the longer side (like 5 seasons I think) but it's so so worth it I promise. also, if you do watch it make sure you're watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. like with the aforementioned fruits basket, there's an older version of the series that was made in 2003 (just called Fullmetal Alchemist) and the plot of it deviated from the manga, and from what I've heard it isn't considered to be as good as FMA: Brotherhood. Brotherhood was made in 2009 and follows the manga completely, and while I haven't watched the 2003 version and can't say for sure if it's worse, the general consensus is Brotherhood is the far superior version.

Death Note (yes I know I'm basic but I love it ok): great if you like watching two guys play mental 4D chess. one guy basically has the power of a god to kill people with so he decides to execute criminals with it, the other is the investigator trying to find out who the dude with magic powers killing people is. very fun on the mind games front

Ouran High School Host Club: COMPLETELY different tone to the rec above. Ouran is very goofy and silly with a surprisingly nuanced take on gender for being made in 2006. it's genuinely such a funny show but the characters also have real heart and you really do love watching the relationships that form. it's such a classic I'm pretty sure most people who like anime have watched it. just trust me on this.

Madoka Magica: magical girl anime except, uh, it's not all fun and sparkles. saying anything more will ruin the twist so I won't tell you too much, but I will say this show has very fascinating relationships and GORGEOUS animation like holy shit. if you like my fic starman I feel like you'll enjoy this. if you do decide to watch it try to finish at least up to ep 3 before deciding if you'll continue with it or not, bc that's when the show 'properly' starts imo

Wow, that's a great as well as tough question. I typically think of my favorite stories, which is hard enough, but favorite characters, not something I have thought too much about because I've come across so many characters I've loved. Anyways, here's my current top 10 really in no particular order:

Sabine Wren from Star Wars Rebels

Amelie Poulain from Amelie

Sean Diaz from Life is Strange 2

Alyssa Greene from The Prom

Percy Jackson from lots of Rick Riordan novels

Anya Forger from Spy x Family

Aki Hayakawa from Chainsaw Man

Sal Fisher from Sally Face

Katsuki Yuri from Yuri on Ice

Trevor Watson from The Goes Wrong Show

Sabine Wren

One of the main reasons I fell in love with Sabine is how she uses art as a form of rebellion. As someone who is involved in and generally loves the art, I loved that this aspect of fighting/speaking up was incorporated into Star Wars. Also, just the idea that art can make such a loud statement really spoke to me.

And while there were only a few moments here or there, I also loved how Sabine was not only an artist but an arts appreciator too. The beauty she saw in others works and the details and meanings behind her own was cool to see.

Additionally, while Sabine was characterized to be this very strong and determined individual, I loved the moments where she was able to open up and be vulnerable. Most of these moments happened around mid-season 3 to the beginning of season 4 when Sabine learned how to wield the Darksaber and returned to Mandalore. It's this sort of complexity how behind her strong-front, there is another, internal self that is wrestling with all these demons. Maybe not the most unique thing about her, but I think Tiya Sircar's performance really helped to elevate the emotions and difficulty Sabine has about facing her past.

Sabine being the first listed on my top 10 favorite characters may actually be true. When creating this name, Dakota Wren, Sabine was/is such a beloved and inspirational character that I wanted to incorporate her and her spirit into my name, perhaps even honor what she means to me.

Amelie Poulain

I was first introduced to the story of Amelie through its musical adaptation. I had heard about the film, but it was listening to the musical's Broadway cast recording, specifically the song "Times Are Hard for Dreamers," that I fell in love with the story and the character. I was always interested in watching the film, but it was only after I listened to the musical's West End cast recording, that I set out to watch it.

Amelie Poulain is one of my favorite characters because of how she is so motivated by kindness. After seeing the positive reaction to her first anonymous good deed, Amelie makes it her mission to carry out as many anon good deeds as possible. Even if the deeds are somewhat small or may not have a large impact on the greater world, I love this idea of just putting more kindness out into the world.

Amelie's struggle to connect with others, as well as how vast her imagination is, are other aspects of her character I connected with and loved. Seeing these traits that I feel closely define who I am in a character is why Amelie is one of my favorite characters.

Sean Diaz

I was introduced to the Life is Strange series by randomly deciding to watch a playthrough of episode 1 of Life is Strange 2 one day. I only planned to watch 15-20 minutes of a one hour video, which was only the first part of the episode, since I assumed I was not gonna be too interested and move on. However, I didn't pay attention to the time and ended up watching the whole hour video, quickly followed by the rest of episode one instead of doing my work.

Sean is one of my favorite characters because of how he immediately takes on a parental role for his little brother Daniel after a tragic accident. As they are on the run and come across different characters/people, it was really interesting to see how Sean attempts to balance being a teenager and being the sole care taker of his little brother. While Sean's relationship with Daniel is dependent on the player's choices, I really love how in one pathway, no matter how much Daniel bugs/annoys him, Sean still fiercely loves him and will go to any length to ensure his well-being.

Sean being pushed into the role of an adult, who must make many of the decisions for the two of them, while grappling with his loss of childhood and home/safety was something that instantly grabbed my attention and kept it.

I had difficulty putting into words why Sean is one of my favorite characters. Essentially though, I think it's Sean's emotional vulnerability (in expressing how he feels about his and Daniel's situation) and unwavering love that make him one of my top 10 favorite characters.

Alyssa Greene

Alyssa is a character that I feel I have a lot in common with: parental expectations to succeed in school, doing certain things not necessarily out of interest, but because it'll (hopefully) look good on a college app, trying to not let down my parents, and living in the closet.

Her song, "Alyssa Greene," which I'm gonna include, struck such an emotional chord with me. This balancing act between being one person in front of her mother and other students while another person with her girlfriend, Emma, and the conflict over which one is her authentic self, is one reason why I've included Alyssa on this list.

Alyssa eventually gains the confidence to come out to her mom, go to prom with Emma, and I guess technically gets her happy ending. So, in seeing myself so much in her, it makes me happy to see that Alyssa eventually is able to be her true self and gives me hope that I can too (oops did not mean for this to get that deep).

Percy Jackson

I got into the Percy Jackson series when I was in 4th grade and I've been a fan ever since (for some reference, I'm in college now). I had free time after finishing classwork, so I think I was supposed to read. When I went looking for a book, something about the cover for The Lightning Thief caught my eye. At the time it was one of the largest books I had read, so 1) I was proud for finishing it and 2) I couldn't wait to do it again for Sea of Monsters, then Titan's Curse, and on and on and on. I truly credit Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson and the Olympians as the book/series that started my love for reading.

This is why I kinda have to include Percy on this list since he's the narrator of this series. I think as many people have pointed out, Percy's sass and attitude is what made me fall in love with this character. Similar to other characters on this list, his loyalty and unwavering determination to protect his friends also stood out to me.

With so many novels spanning several years, it's neat getting to see his maturation from the new kid at camp to one of their finest leaders. Also, while I may not have grown up with Percy, it was also really fun getting to read when he would hit certain milestones (i.e. 16th birthday, learning how to drive, going off to college, etc.).

Anya Forger

Currently, Anya Forger is my favorite Forger family member, which was a hard decision to make since I just wanted to include one family member on this list.

A good friend of mine introduced me to Spy x Family last summer. We watched the first episode together, I was hooked, and then I proceeded to watch the first half of season 1 on my own over the next few days. After that, I very much looked forward to the second half of season 1 (literally waiting for the exact time I could watch the new episode) and began to read the manga.

Why do I bring this up? One of the reasons I instantly fell in love with Spy x Family was because of Anya, as well as her relationship/interactions with Loid, in that first episode. Like so many others, I absolutely love Anya's facial expressions and the things that come out of her mouth. Like, she's already hilarious for saying things that a four, possibly five year old would say. But when she's trying to cover for saying something that is in direct response to reading another person's thoughts, even more chaos.

Anya's love for both of her parents is also really touching. Additionally, the fact that she feels safe and protected from danger when they are around is touching too. She just wants to be loved and have a family and a nice, warm home, which she arguably gets with Loid, Yor, and Bond. It's definitely a little sad that Anya is not fully sure if her papa loves her, but it's so sweet (and shows how much this family means to her) that she loves Loid regardless.

Aki Hayakawa

I would first like to bring up two points: 1) at the point of writing this, I have yet to find the time to read the manga (so my experience with this character is limited to what's been covered in the anime, though I have seen a few manga spoilers), and 2) I didn't like Aki when he was first introduced.

Going off of this second point, I felt Aki was being unnecessarily rude and dismissive of Denji during the first few episodes of Chainsaw Man. I thought Aki was gonna just be Denji's work rival and more like a minor antagonist of the series. Boy was I wrong though and boy am I so glad to be wrong in this situation.

Therefore, seeing his growth over the first season alone, and what exactly that growth has led to, is why I have chosen to include Aki on this list. Yes, Aki is probably driven insane by Denji (and Power too), but it's moments like when he protected Denji from Kobeni while they were trapped in the hotel or attempting to fight Katana Man after Denji and Himeno were shot that made me see this character in a new light. Episode 11 and 12 have countless examples of why Aki has become one of my favorite characters, but even before these episodes, my opinion on Aki had already changed.

Two other points that do a good job of explaining why Aki is one of my top 10 favorite characters are from posts I have come across. One is how Aki is the most sane of Special Division 4, which is saying something. And two, how Aki went from believing devils should be spared no mercy when they are killed (or something of the like) in ep. 2 to looking after Denji, Power, and being unafraid to come close to Angel Devil in ep. 11.

Sal Fisher

When I think of Sal Fisher, there are many things that come to mind. Despite his appearance, Sal has a relatively calm energy. While growing up, despite everything that has happened to him during his childhood, Sal attempts to live a relatively normal life by spending time with friends, raising his cat, Gizmo, etc. (before and after moving to Addison Apartments). And, when Sal finds himself in a situation where there are no good outcomes, he must do the unthinkable.

One moment that really stood out to me is when Sal is talking with a friend, who asks why he lets people call him "Sally Face." Sal explains that when he was growing up, other kids would call him that name as an insult, so by reclaiming or owning the name, the nickname lost its power. I think this moment demonstrates Sal's true nature and how Sal had to grow up a little quicker than his peers due to events from his early childhood.

While I definitely think Sal is one of my favorite characters, the story of Sally Face as a whole stands out to me a little more. I guess what I'm trying to say is Sal Fisher and the story of Sally Face are so closely tied that I found it a little hard to fully separate why I like Sal Fisher alone or independently from the overall game.

Katsuki Yuri

I recently finished Yuri on Ice (as in last night), so this may be a character that moves or changes on/off this list after having more time to reflect on and digest this series. But at the time of writing this, Katsuki Yuri has quickly earned a place on this list. I will also add I watched the series over the span of a few days because of free time/work. However, I probably could've binged the series in a day if I had the time, which says a lot since I typically have a lot of difficulty binge watching shows.

There was something so touching about seeing Yuri grow into his skills and finding his confidence over the course of the season. Literally was tearing up during his final free skate. While only 12 episodes, Yuri's performance during that final free skate really felt like the culmination of the entire season (I think the inner dialogue helped to convey this even more, like everything in Yuri's mind has led to this moment).

Maybe a bit random, but Yuri's awareness about having a high stamina and getting nervous during competitions demonstrated that he had a good understanding of his self, it was his confidence that needed improving. Also, in the first episode, when Yuri recreates one of Victor's performances, I just loved that Yuri's passion for ice skating seemed so clearly conveyed.

I don't know if others feel this way, but there was something to me about Yuri's reactions/thoughts that felt so real and to a degree relatable. Sure, some of them were played up for comedy, but Yuri's determination to succeed, to win a gold medal, or when Victor, Yuri's idol, first arrived to Hasetsu/became his coach, and his inner panicking, that felt so based in truth or reality. I loved this about Yuri and his characterization.

Trevor Watson

Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but if you're looking for a good laugh or comedy show, I'd highly recommend The Goes Wrong Show. Slapstick and chaos at its finest. While I enjoy each character and the various reasons their parts/scenes go wrong, Trevor, the stage manager, narrowly inches his way above the other characters as my favorite.

Him frantically trying to keep the show running and handling way too many behind the scenes roles, as well as occasionally being pulled to stand-in for an actor (when everyone else is incapacitated, which out of context I'm sure sounds concerning-I assure you it's not though), make for hilarious moments of Trevor being forced to fill in for things he did not sign up for.

Also, the way he sasses and responds to Chris, the director, is really funny. I guess in general too when being asked to do something that requires him to do more than his job description, which is often.

There's a lot of reasons why Trevor is probably my favorite TGWS character and makes it on this list. However, it's a little hard to explain when so many reasons are like really specific bits or make little sense out of context. Either way, Trevor makes it onto my top 10 favorite characters.

I don't know what exactly you were looking or hoping for, but I hope my answers aren't too disappointing. These characters and the stories they come from really do a good job of representing who I am though and the evolution of what I love.

This question also made me realize how many times I stumble into a new obsession/fandom by just randomly doing something with very little thought into thinking a new interest could arise from it. So, thank you for that as well!

Loving your posts about ship dynamics

I often end up feeling alone when I start to speak about such things. Because people either ship the opposite of what I think is right ( sn is more popular for some bizarre reason) or claim to don't mind the dynamic ( while in fact preferring the most popular one). Sometimes they even imply that it's wrong to prefer a specific dynamic "because real people are not like that". While in real life most gay people just like hetero people have the preferred position.

I, personally, have a pairings where I tolerate switch dynamic but still have a preferred one. But in those pairings the thing that makes it possible for me is the fact that the characters are both on the somewhat equal footing. There's no psychological or social imbalance between them.

But things like ns or hsmd? No. Clear top/bottom positions to me.

There's even sun/moon symbolism there...

And, Anon, I feel the same all the time...I wrote explanations and disclaimers on why tf I think the way I think all over my blog because at some moments it was crazy, at every time I made a comment about top and bottom some sheep-like person appeared with their "you can't ship A/B because top/bottom distinction fetishizes gay guys" and "real ppl are not like that, they switch"...

I heard these bullshit things so many times and they make me laugh because probably those who say them aren't even lgbt, or allies, they're just shippers of the other dynamic, or who want to bitch for the sake of bitching, they probably even had s*x before so stfu, gay guys in real life are not even listening to you and they sure don't give a damn about how you portray your characters in your little online world. And the switching thing...ugh. Like you said, some ppl do have preferences irl. Even gay guys. I am not a guy but I do have a strong preference and I had it both when I had a guy and now that I am with a girl. So real life doesn't confirm their bullshit. Also, even if irl it's was they say, we're talking about fictional characters...specifically, fictional characters with supernatural powers, in a fantasy universe. If they can summon magic animals and direct black flames with their eyes, can't they be only bottoms as well? Just sayin'.

And ofc there are the fake switch shippers, who claim they like both but you can clearly see they prefer one, which suspiciously is always the wrong one. They all ship SN but they claim they're open and woke and cool so they like SNS. F*ck them tbh.

And don't get me started on those who claim that Sasuke bottom is 'wrong' totally misinterpreting his personality, especially with NAr and Itachi. And they bitch at you for not shipping SN and SI...Like, wtf are you looking at? cause it's not the same manga I read. I remember some idiot using the sun/moon to prove their OOC point even, i don't remember what was the logic but it was so stupid I blocked them, and it was one of those very popular blogs lol

To think that sun/moon yin/yang should have closed all sort of discussion about top/bottom right? NS and HSMD (which I assume it's hashimada) are pretty clear...and there are many others who are pretty clear, after all if a character like Sas has clearly a passive/yang personality and one like NAr has an assertive/yin personality it's almost impossible to see them in a different 'role'. For me, thinking about top Sas is really OOC. Others can switch, like Kakaobi where I too switch preference for one or the other lol, not being a big fan of the pairing anyway so I go with the mood of the fanart I'm looking at. Or, say, rare pairings as Tobirama/Madara who both give me bottom vibes so who knows. Like you said, when the pairing is really equal I get the switching (even in Shiita I kinda get it) but NS, Hashimada, and all pairings with a power inbalance are clear. And those ppl are wrong.

Before I begin... Unfortunately, I have not finished/caught up with Magi or Kiss Him, Not Me! so I cannot properly answer those specific questions at this moment in time. So I seriously apologize for that ):

I also haven't caught up with the Karneval manga (I need to soooo badly, though!) But I have watched the anime a few times already. So I can at least answer that question lol

Karneval : I always liked Gareki X Nai in a "brotherly" sort of way. Like... the adorable little brother who unintentionally annoys their moody older brother lol And from what I've read (and watched), I do like Nai and Karoku together. But again, not in a "romantic" way. Note : Yogi is my favorite character <3

Aoharu X Machinegun : I wish this series was longer purely because I like it so much lol I didn't necessarily mind the last few chapters. But with any manga or story in general, I'm not a fan of rushed endings or rushed reconciliations. As far as ships... If Hotaru was not a minor, I would ship her with Matsuoka. I still do in an innocent/friendly way, but definitely not romantic. So honestly, I think I have to say Matsuoka and Yukimura. Note : Yukimura is my top favorite character :3

Tokyo Ghoul Re: : Overall, I really enjoyed the Tokyo Ghoul/Tokyo Ghoul Re: anime. But I definitely do wish they made Tokyo Ghoul Re: longer and stuck with the manga. The best way I can put it = I watched Tokyo Ghoul Re: before I read it, and I was a bit confused at certain parts because it was rushed and I felt like important information wasn't included. Which was confirmed after I read Tokyo Ghoul Re:. So in that regard... Yep, I prefer the manga. As far as how it ended, my one "complaint" is that I wish there was more solid information regarding Takizawa. Just leaving it at "his whereabouts are unknown" was very disappointing to me. He deserved better than that, in my opinion ^^"

Black Butler : I hope you don't mind, anon... but I'm gonna go on a little tangent here. I still love Black Butler and I always will, but I used to be a huge Black Butler fangirl back in the day (not the obnoxiously cringey kind, just the "silently fangirl irl and then go online to act out terribly OOC roleplays with close friends and write borderline trash fanfics" kind lol). So I have a lot to say, especially regarding the anime xD

When it was revealed that Ciel actually has a twin, a lot of things came together and made sense. Especially with different scenes that were depicted throughout the series. Like in Book of Circus/Noah's Arc Circus when "Ciel" was shown inside the cage, yet it looked like Ciel was also up on the altar being sacrificed. That's obviously just one example, but you get my point lol

Agni's death was sooooooo sad ): I liked Agni for several reasons, two of the biggest reasons being : 1. his utter devotion and extreme care for Soma and 2. The fact that Sebastian seemed to genuinely respect Agni. I mean... If you get a demon's respect, then I'm pretty sure you're golden haha xD But in all seriousness... The fact that Agni died protecting Soma really says it all. To borrow Sebastian's catchphrase : Agni was simply one Hell of a khansama </3

Regarding the anime : I really, truly wish they would make more seasons or OVAs or movies or something that follow the manga. I think Book of the Atlantic was animated beautifully, and I also loved Book of Circus and Book of Murder. Oh, and of course I loved the OG Black Butler, good ol' Season One. I remember there was a lot of controversy and hatred towards Season Two... But I honestly enjoyed it lol Yes, it did stray completely away from the manga and yes, it wasn't as good as the main storyline. But I felt a lot of feels when watching Season Two. I also had a lot of fun roleplaying with friends back then and writing fanfics and crack headcanons for Claude, Alois, and the others.

But yes... If I can have one wish, I would wish for more Black Butler in anime form that follows the manga c:

Vampire Knight : yeahhhhh..... Please excuse my language lovely anon and anyone else who may be reading this, but that is all kinds of fucked up, in my humble opinion lol I know people are into lots of different things, and that's great. Absolutely zero judgement here, you do whatever makes you happy. I also completely understand that Vampire Knight is a work of fiction, that Yuki and Kaname aren't real so they can't actually be related, and that the children Yuki had with Zero and Kaname are also fictional characters who don't exist in the real world so that makes their relationship non-existent. But come on, man.... Really? Why?? Lol

For context : I was probably around 14ish when I first started watching Vampire Knight. Yes, I'm an old geezer ;n; (not really, but I feel that way sometimes haha xD) It's a series I stumbled upon after I had finished Death Note, because I was looking for cheap anime DVDs I could purchase on Amazon. After reading the synopsis, I figured "why not". So for less than $10, I was able to pick up the first Volume of Vampire Knight (I own the complete collection of Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight Guilty on DVD, and there's a total of 6 Volumes/cases. If that doesn't make sense, please let me know and I'll just post a picture of them since that would probably be easier lol)

Anyway! Once it arrived, I got pulled into the story fairly quickly. That lead me to purchase the other DVDs until I slowly accumulated the entire series. In between, I had also started collecting the manga too. And even though it was quite a long time ago, I specifically remember ordering the boxset for the last part of the manga right before I finished the anime. Because I thought "I've enjoyed the anime so much, I need all of the manga too!"

But when I saw the scene where Kaname locks lips with Yuki, and it's revealed that they're siblings... The disappointment and disgust I felt was immeasurable xD

Personally, I preferred Yuki and Zero together anyway. But I would have been able to fully accept Kaname and Yuki ending up together.... Just... Why make them relatives?

Even though I own the manga, I honestly never finished reading it because of that. But I did read the wiki pages extensively and I certainly heard a fair share of rumors/spoilers lol (I actually heard the familial ties between Kaname and Yuki are even worse in the manga, so I'm kinda glad I didn't finish it) I know YukiXKaname's kid and YukiXZero's kid are a "thing", but didn't YukiXKaname's kid also have the hots for Zero at some point, too? I think I remember reading that somewhere before? Either way.... Not my cup of tea ^^"

twins have always been viewed as a bad omen for the parents - there are high chances of both twins developing no Cursed Technique at all, or have a Cursed Technique that is not desirable. So there had been no hope when one of the wives from the main family of the gojo clan was pregnant, and from what they can tell with twins at that

so it was a huge surprise to not only the elders but the entire jujutsu world when not one, but both of the twins were born with the coveted Six Eyes - something that had never happened in the history of the gojo clan. it was a moment to be celebrated!

if only they knew just what was lies ahead

much to the delight of the elders, the older one of the twins was the boy, satoru, while the girl was born 20 minutes after - it wouldn’t have mattered if it was the other way around, but just having the young boy being the one born first was definitely the icing on the cake

both of you were an absolute headache to deal with, causing so much chaos and mayhem that the elders had wondered if they should have celebrated at the idea of having two Six Eyes users under the same house was a good thing

the both of you trained together throughout your younger years, with satoru becoming super overprotective even though you were twins - he understood from a young age that the both of you were starting at different levels of footing because of your gender

yes, you are a girl - but at 7 years old you had exorcise a Grade-Two Curse by yourself with no more than an annoyed click of your tongue and a snap of your fingers, walking away whilst whining about how it got your favourite dress dirty

with that being said though, he loves to tease you are still the younger one between the both of you, and had teased you about how you should refer to him as ‘onii-chan’ instead of his first name

“come on, Y/N~ it’s a sign of respect~”

“i am going to spend you to outer space one of these days.”

the two of you were already known about the jujutsu world way before you even became old enough to enroll in Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College - you two were even allowed to enter without an interview with the then principal of the school

who would want to waste their time interviewing two highly over qualified teenagers anyway?

the first time you met geto and shoko, they were both intimidated by your sheer presence. the both of them have heard talks about the gojo twins entering their year as a pair

so when they had first met you, standing there in your uniform with your bright blue eyes hiding behind a pair of blacked out sunglasses and an indifferent look on your face - they definitely felt a shiver go through their bodies

however, when they saw your twin brother appearing behind you with the biggest grin, hugging you from behind whilst you scowled and tried to push his head away - they were definitely less intimidated now

“now, now, Y/N-chan, stop being so scary~”

“nii-chan, i am giving you three seconds to let go of me.”

the two of you quite the duo, especially when you two are always pinned against one another with more difficult and more challenging missions compared to when you were under the care of the gojo clan 

geto felt less pressure to match up to his friend, since satoru and Y/N are always at each other’s throat - wanting to outmatch the other and one up the other with silly things like Curse head counts and how difficult its level is

with that being said, satoru is very protective of you - if any so much as speaks poorly of you, he would not hesitate to put them in their place

“oya? what makes you think you can speak of my baby sister like that?” satoru had hummed towards the small group of men, who were commenting on how beautiful the young woman was followed by a lot of unsavoury comments. 

satoru still sported his casual smile, yet there was a certain air around him that made them shut their mouths up real fast. “mind repeating that? just want to make sure that i have a good enough reason to put your lazy asses six feet underground..”

after that specific incident by the way, satoru had you and your friends out on a little excursion around tokyo - where they just did a bunch of stupid things together to calm down

you can read him like the back of a book though, so when both of your friends went away to browse through some shelves in a video game store, you just wrapped your arms around your brother with a smile. “you know, nii-chan, you don’t need to go about protect my honour. i’m a big girl now.”

he’d just blink down at you before giving you a soft but genuine smile, petting the top of your head with one of his hand while the other was resting inside of his pocket. “if i don’t protect you, who am i going to protect?”

that statement was proven during your second year - a cursed user had overpowered you and shoko and had taken the both of you hostage. the curse user had practically beaten you into a pulp, knowing that you were the stronger one between the two

shoko had been tied up and beaten as well, but you were definitely taking the brunt of his anger - along with being forced to listen about how he was going to sell you to some low life family that had been trying to get you to marry their sorry excuse of a son. 

you don’t even remember meeting the father of the boy, who had claimed to visit the gojo clan home a few times now

“you gonna be a good girl for me?” the man had gripped as he gripped your hair in his hands, giving you a smirk whilst you scowled over at him in annoyance, blinking the blood out of your eyes from the wound on the top of your head. 

before you can give another snarky answer in reply that will get you another beating, the sound of someone kicking the door in. before either one of you can move, the man suddenly let go of your hair with a pained gasp as someone grabbed his hair and forced his head back, looking up into a pair of glowing blue eyes

“get your filthy hands off my baby sister.”

geto was in charge of taking care of the both of you, leaving the room with a simple reminder to satoru that they needed to bring the man back alive

both of you spending most of your time trying to unlock the many secrets of the Limitless, and how to control it better

during the entire star plasma vessel fiasco, you had stayed by geto’s side. and while you didn’t manage to save rika from being murdered, you had, like gojo, managed to touch the core of cursed energy

toji had ‘killed you’ before he went after geto, yet like satoru, he did not decapitate your head; so you had slowly started to use the reverse curse technique to heal your wounds

so you couldn’t believe satoru’s belief when he found you using reverse cursed technique to heal geto, wrapping you up in his arms while you just smile and hold him as well

the three of you plus shoko had turned to one another for comfort, because along the way you four have grown close to the young girl, and her death really affected all of you

but if there is something bright that came out from this, is that you and your brother had really elevated yourselves to become the strongest duo of the new generation - both pretty much an entire chest above the current active sorcerers

after satoru had calmed down, he had told you about what toji had said to him before his death - about how he has a son that he had planned to sell of to the zen’ins

the two of you went to visit the young boy, discovering that he had an older sister as well; and without hesitation you had taken the both of them under your wing, pulling a few strings behind the scenes while also trying to provide him with as normal as a life as you two could

megumi had viewed you as a mother figure, someone who looked out for him and tsumiki, teaching the two of them life skills like sewing and cooking, making sure they always have warm meals. 

you never miss their birthdays either - always making sure to get them either a cake or a small cupcake with a candle on the top to blow out just for the sake of tradition

sure, satoru loves to spoil them too, but he acted more like their chilled older brother - he definitely relies on you more as a parental figure he had lacked for quite a huge part of his childhood

he had remembered how once, when you had made him his favourite curry and rice after a long week, he just sighed and said, “thanks mum,” before he started to eat his meal 

at first you froze in shock, and  megumi did too - but before the blushing teen can apologise, you had already wrapped him up in your arms as you just cried your heart out

satoru had teasingly asked him if megumi can call him ‘dad’, to which megumi just scowled and sent his divine dogs after your brother

satoru loves to introduce you two as the ‘strongest duo’ by the way - which makes you super awkward and you hate it with a passion. he wasn’t wrong, but it’s still awkward

“we’re the Gojos - the strongest duo out there.”

“please stop calling us that.”

feel like because you’re there, geto might still be on the path to the light lmao - like mans will be a teacher in school and you three will be dub the ‘idiot trinity’ or some bullshit nickname lol - the three biggest troublemakers in the jujutsu world

yet the three most capable ones as well - absolutely drive the higher ups of the jujutsu world insane

with that being said though - the three of you definitely hashed a plan to change the jujutsu world together. even shoko agrees that there should be some change to the old ways of the jujutsu world; so the four of you decided to sign up to work as teachers at Jujutsu High 

the first group of students you took under your wing was the then first years - maki, toge, panda, and eventually yuta when he joined your little class

you are the mother for the students while geto is the responsible dad; satoru is the crazy uncle that is not allowed to supervise the students alone, and shoko is the cool aunt who lets you skip class in her office if you want

all the students have, at one point, just referred to you as ‘mum’ and you had always just accepted that with a soft smile and a pat on the top of their head

even if they are taller than you, they will willingly bend down to your height so you can pet them on the head - even megumi lets you get away with it

when itadori and nobara came into the picture, you had taken them un as your own as well - but you did spend a good 5 minutes laughing with geto at the idea that yuji manages to control sukuna like he is just an annoying imaginary friend in the back of his head that refuses to shut up

you had tried to give them some form of normality and comforts as teenagers, even if many times they were forced into very uncomfortable situations

all in all - it was utter chaos the moment both you and satoru were born. yet it was a miracle nonetheless. many times you prove to the world that your bond is stronger than people think it is, and that you two will go through anything to make sure the other is safe. 

you are the younger one, but the more responsible one too. the motherly figure that everyone turned to, even your friends and brother, who needs comfort and a warm meal. yet if provoked, you can become deadly and kill with no hesitation. it’s because of this, both you and your brother are considered as quite the deadly duo; the strongest ones around.

activities you do: when one goes to animal cafés, you pet the animals! so pet the sheep you two do, but very cautiously, of course. jungwon tries to ba with them, maybe even asks if they make clothing out of their wool.

activities you do: in a manga café, you would have a private room together and just chill and roll around in it. at the latte art café, he's having so much fun seeing all the characters and drawings are put on top, even when they're not his (he orders shin-chan or doraemon). they offer 3d latte art classes and the two of you take one!

It’s me again (the anon who asked about your favourite characters from K and Nanbaka) and yeah, I’ve also seen some people talk about how Yata is a lot of people’s first favourite character of the series and it honestly makes me a bit more protective over him because of those various personal reasons and I’m like “Sure, they love you but they’ll never love you as much as me / the same way as me.”

And I love the fact that you said that there’s no middle ground when it comes down to liking Hajime or not because that’s honestly where I am. Sure I wouldn’t want to work under him and don’t like his violent behaviour but I still find him enjoyable at other moments and I respect his work ethic. But it’s good to know you’re not violent like him. And you saying ‘unless you count being violently people-pleasing’ made me laugh because same (in a way). Because even though I often try to do what others want, my natural instinct is still to do what I enjoy in the moment and sometimes those two don’t go well together at the moment so I end up annoying others 😅 It’s like sure I want to make others happy and do stuff for others, but I also want to do something fun at this very second so I’ll do that thing that someone else wants me to at another moment. It’s a complicated and contradictory existence for sure.

And don’t worry about the late reply. My message was also really long so I totally understand and I appreciate what you said. And same when it comes down to loving to hear how others perceive characters. I honestly do enjoy Kusanagi for the most part, his violent behaviour towards Yata and that one moment with Bandō just don’t sit well with me. Plus, I love how he uses his powers so there’s that as well. He’s like one of those characters who even though I don’t like for their actions at certain moments, I can’t help but enjoy his other moments. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for saying that I can be forgiven for that but honestly it is pretty bad because he should have also been on the top of my head because he is a part of me in a different way. But thank you nonetheless. And true. It would be really nice if the other alphabet boys got more love but unfortunately because we mainly get to see as much as we do about them in the manga and some other side material, those who have only watched the anime don’t see how great they are. And you know, I’ve actually been told to be more positive and smile more as well because I can’t fake my feelings. I do smile quite often when I find something amusing but not everyone is witness to that and my practical comments can sometimes be interpreted as negativity. It’s like I’m internally like him but externally not at all which is so weird when I put it into words like that 😅. Hello again! It’s always so great to hear from you! And he definitely is a lot of people’s first loves for K Project, and I do find it interesting to hear a lot of the various reasons people have for loving him, but I do get your feelings about him as well. I think I’ve had characters in the past, long ago, that I kind of had those same feelings about and I do know other people who have the same sort of attachment to other characters, and I find that completely okay. My general motto is that there’s enough of the characters to really go around and that someone else loving a character doesn’t make my self-ships or f/o’s any less attracted or devoted to me, but I also know my way of looking at it is not the predominant way or the necessarily right way.

I love that you’ve proved me wrong with the no middle ground and I am so happy that you do find him enjoyable at moments and do see some admirable things in him! And nope, definitely not as violent, though I do of course get angry and sometimes do wish I was a little bit more violent – I had a union rep call me up on Friday before leaving work and the way he talked to me would make most people punch him in the face and lord, did I ever wish I could except for the fact that…well, actually I’d feel really bad if I hurt anyone. And yep, I admit to being a chronic people pleaser. Again, my therapist says it’s trauma responses and it’s something I’m always working on getting better with!

I know that can make some people really impatient or upset, but I really do try hard to get around to writing replies and such as fast as I can, in between getting other writing done (for anyone curious, other than sleepover asks, I’m just down to the ficlets to write and I’m hoping to power my way through a couple of them tonight and at least five tomorrow!) And there’s just something really special about hearing someone talk about their favourite characters. People’s favourite characters really do mean a lot to them in most cases…they’re characters that touch these peoples lives and give them comfort and it’s always so fantastic to hear all the little things that they see and love in these characters that I might not always see. It really does help me appreciate some characters that I might not be so in love with or to find new aspects to them I might have overlooked. And so much yes on the way Kusanagi uses his powers. The cigarette scene from the first season always stood out for me so much, though that could just be because I’m a smoker myself. And what you said makes complete sense, so don’t worry!

And we match well then, anon, because I don’t write short anything. Everything I write seems to bloat and it’s the worst and longest part of editing all my writing for me. And don’t beat yourself up so much. I often end up forgetting a lot of things I wanted to add to a lot of the things I post on here and I really end up wishing I could go back and add all those things after the fact, but I don’t really. And you know what I would love?? An anime adaption, true to the spin-off mangas, that really focus on the alphabet boys of both HOMRA and Scepter 4. Like, make MOR and DOB manga anime but make them entirely faithful to the manga in both stories and animation and I would be so happy with it. I feel like if they did that, the alphabet boys would be so loved by fandom afterwards because they really are such wonderful, interesting, gorgeous boys!

my biggest worry about the UA traitor is that it won’t feel significant as the major characters suspected in being it don’t play a big role in the story leading up to now.. like aoyama yes he might cause shock but hagakure?? she doesn’t done much imo but i do think she is the traitor i just wish hori given her some spotlight early on to lead to the moment and the suspense yk

fwiw, you're not alone, anon; I see this concern crop up pretty much every single time there's a U.A. traitor discussion. but the thing is, there's an underlying assumption here that the sole purpose of a plot twist is to shock people. and I would argue that's not true. imo, a well-written plot twist serves many purposes, and shocking the audience is only one of them, and far from the most important one. (in fact, I'd argue that it's not even strictly necessary.) here are four that I can think of right off the top of my head.

they catch and hold the audience's attention. this isn't the case for all plot twists, but it's certainly true for ones which the author chooses to deliberately dangle before the audience, as Horikoshi chose to do with the U.A. traitor plot. if he really wanted to shock people with the reveal, it would have been better for him not to call attention to it in the first place. there was no need whatsoever to have Present Mic bring it up back in chapter 83. but he chose to go that route because he wanted the readers to notice, and he wanted them to start thinking about it and to start speculating about the traitor's identity. it gets the audience excited, and it gives them an incentive to keep reading to see how the story will play out.

they encourage the audience to engage more with the story. the U.A. traitor plot is easily one of the most talked-about elements in the entire story. at this point I don't think there's a single teacher or student character who hasn't been the target of suspicion at some point or other. and again, this was a conscious trade-off on Horikoshi's part, because it would have been much easier to blindside readers with the eventual reveal if they weren't out here forming all of these exhaustive theories. announcing that There Is A Traitor pretty much guarantees that no matter who it ends up being, someone will have predicted it ahead of time. but the trade-off is that fans are paying closer attention to the story, and continuing to think about the plot even when they're not reading the manga, and engaging in more discussion with their fellow fans. and all of that is more than worth the loss of the shock element imo.

they add new layers and depth to the story. this is the hallmark of all of the most iconic plot twists. anyone can write a story and tag on some sort of half-assed unpredictable heel turn at the end in order to try and surprise people and make themselves look smart. but the best plot twists are the ones which actually make sense, and which have foreshadowing sprinkled in throughout the story, so that when you go back and look at everything a second time it makes you go, "ohhh, that's why." a good plot twist should be just as enjoyable to read the second and third time around, even after the shock value has expired, because the satisfaction of seeing a well-planned and executed plot development is still there. and with the very best twists, the story is actually even more enjoyable to go back and reread afterwards, because the knowledge of the twist adds new insight and context and perspective to all of the previous scenes.

and last but not least, they add suspense. there are plenty of ways to keep your readers on their toes that don't necessarily involve surprises coming out of left-field. and this is another thing that the author gains when they make that calculated sacrifice of announcing a plot twist ahead of time. the reader is no longer going to be shocked, because they're now anticipating it -- but that anticipation is a great consolation prize in and of itself. and so with this particular plot, for instance, there's more to the U.A. Traitor Mystery than just the question of who it is. there's also the questions of why, and most important of all, the question of what will happen when everyone finds out? and those questions add a ton of suspense to the story. when will AFO call on Hagakure again? what will he ask her to do? what's going to happen if and when she finally gets caught? how exactly is Aoyama involved in all this? and how will the other members of class A react?? each of these questions has enough inherent suspense that you could make a separate cliffhanger out of each and every one of them if you wanted to.

the thing that everyone always seems to overlook is that the reveal isn't the point. the reveal, when it happens, is going to be a one-time thing which will only be in play for a single chapter at most, after which the plot needs to still be able to stand on all of its other merits. so for instance, suppose that Horikoshi does go for shock over substance, and decides to go with someone "unexpected" like Ochako. sure, you get the shock value, because no one seriously expects it to be her. and maybe to some people it would feel more impactful, because she has a closer connection to Deku and the other characters. but the trade-off is that a twist like that would make absolutely no sense. it completely lacks the careful foreshadowing of the Hagakure/Aoyama twist. and it would detract from Ochako's character development, rather than adding on to it, because it would completely undo so much of what her character journey has been about up until now. all of that sacrificed just for the sake of a one-time twist, which a good chunk of readers would be spoiled for in advance thanks to the weekly spoiler leak cycle. ymmv, but to me that would absolutely not be worth it, and would be a huge waste of both Ochako's character, and of all the careful work that Horikoshi has done to weave this whole plot together.

on the other hand, the fact that Hagakure has had next to no spotlight up till now is exactly what makes her the perfect candidate. with her there's no need to worry about undoing years of carefully planned character development. there's no need to worry about the twist not making sense, or not holding up to the scrutiny of hindsight, because all of Hagakure's interactions with the other characters have always been curiously superficial. we know next to nothing about her family or history or motivations. her character is pretty much a blank slate, which makes her pretty much the only person in 1-A whose betrayal wouldn't feel awkward and forced and completely unnatural.

and as for everyone who's already made up their minds that her betrayal would lack any impact, I think they're both underestimating the amount of impact that any betrayal from one of class A's own would have, and also underestimating Horikoshi's ability to deliver when it comes to ninth-inning backstories. Dabi's backstory came pretty late in the game as well for instance, and that didn't take away from its impact at all. and the same goes for Hawks as well. just because Hagakure doesn't have any backstory yet doesn't mean she's not going to get one. and if you think Horikoshi doesn't have something good cooked up after all this time, then I don't know what else to tell you, except just, "wait and see."

anyway so yeah. and also just a reminder once again that even though fandom sometimes gets bogged down in this kind of discussion involving our personal opinions as to who would be the best traitor candidate, or the most shocking or meaningful or unexpected, etc., at the end of the day the actual evidence we have all points to Hagakure. I know I sound like a broken record at this point, but yeah lol.

I wanna watch Uramichi but I’m not sure I can handle a depressive character rn :( is the dark comedy really heavy?

Hi anon! So, this is going to be a not-so-short reply, I hope you don’t mind!

There may be some minor spoilers (?) ahead.

First, some personal context for my answer.

When I started reading the manga last year I was in a pretty dark place because of my job and life in general. At the time I was working with children too and although I loved being with them, my workplace was pretty suffocating and the constant stress only added to my anxiety, making me feel completely burned out and empty at the end of the day.

I’m telling you this just so you can see where I’m coming from next: Uramichi can be really cathartic for some but also really depressing for others.

For me it was the first one, reading about a character facing the same struggles as me made me feel kind of understood and less alone, a sort of “oh, so I’m not the only one feeling like this” thing.

For other people though, the dark humor/thoughts of our main character can be too much.

As I wrote in a previous ask, Uramichi is dealing with high-functioning anxiety and depression (and some degree of alcoholism too) so his self-deprecating jokes and pessimism can get very heavy (specially if you decide to binge-read/watch the manga/anime) and you may end up feeling worse than before.

Despite all of this, I don’t think he’s an inherently/purely negative person. He is actually pretty caring towards the children and his co-workers (you can see this every time one of the kids says something nice to him and he’s instantly moved to tears or in how he’s always reassuring Iketeru when he makes a mistake during the show)…

And he also tries his best at work, regardless of the director’s crazy demands, when he thinks about the kids enjoying the show.

All this is to say that he’s a fairly nuanced character, he’s obviously not a ball of sunshine but he’s not just some “pathetic, sad man” either as I’ve read some people say.

Lastly, I think any working adult −not just those of us dealing with anxiety/depression− can relate to him in some way or another. The question now is whether the story will make you feel better or worse in this very moment.

I would recommend watching the first few episodes or reading the first volume and see if it may be the right fit for you :) 

Also don’t forget that this is a comedy too, so there are tons of hilarious and over-the-top moments that I’m sure will make you laugh like crazy if you decide to give it a chance.
