Totally Not a Date (Thor Odinson x Reader)
A/N: i'm pretty sure 'totally not a date' is the first fic i ever posted on here which is kinda crazy to me. anyway this is a rewritten version because honestly the first version just needs to be wiped from existence so here you go. enjoy :)
word count: 2,100+
You sat across from Tony and Pepper in an almost uncomfortable, deafening silence. You knew from the very start that it was a bad idea, but you had promised Pepper that you would be there, and that you would have a date.
See, Pepper had informed you only three nights ago that she had made a reservation at the hot, new restaurant in the city, and that she had accidently made a reservation for four rather than two. Of course, you were suspicious, why wouldn't you be? It was not often that Pepper Potts herself made mistakes and having worked for a guy like Tony for years before the pair grew romantically, she had mastered the art of making reservations and booking tables. Not to mention she was a complete perfectionist. But you chose to shrug it off.
"So, what's the plan then? Me, you, Nat and Wanda?" You asked nonchalantly, your eyes glued to your phone. Pepper's small laugh only seconds later tore them right away. You looked up at her, narrowing your eyes, "What?"
Pepper raised her eyebrows at you, a smirk on her features, "As much as I would love to treat the girls, I reserved the table for a date night..." Your face suddenly dropped as you began to catch her drift. "So, since there's four seats I thought I'd ask you."
"But there's four seats, so me and...?"
She let lout a breathy laugh, "I was hoping you'd have that part covered for me. Be there for eight, and make sure you bring a date." Before you could respond, she had turned on her heels and left you sitting in the front room of the Avengers tower, completely shook.
You considered bailing more than once during the days leading up to the date. However, you found yourself stood outside of the restaurant at eight, awaiting your friends and your 'date' for the night. Tony and Pepper had arrived on time, and the chilly winds of New York that night had prompted the three of you to enter the restaurant and wait for your date inside. You hadn't told either of them who you would be bringing, for fear of being teased by Tony relentlessly for hours beforehand, and because he had warned you that he wasn't entirely sure he'd make it in time. Of course, you didn't mind, it was nothing more than a fake date. Nothing important. So why did you feel so down when the clock read 8:15 and no one had turned up for you?
Tony cleared his throat, breaking the silence which had engulfed the three of you. "Are we... Uh, are we ready to order?"
You were grateful for Tony and his appetite; you couldn't stand the quiet atmosphere, or the sad looks Pepper kept throwing your way. You were just about to open your mouth to let Tony know it was okay to order, but a deep, booming voice, one you didn't expect to hear tonight, stopped you in your tracks.
"My apologies for being so late. I had business to take care of in Asgard." You turned your head quickly, and your jaw dropped at the sight of the tall, blonde Asgardian prince as he pulled out the chair beside you and took a seat. He looked good, you had to admit. He wore a black dress shirt and black dress pants, and his hair had been pulled up into a bun. It was an almost effortless look, something you knew he had thrown together quickly upon his arrival to the tower, but he pulled it off regardless.
Tony was the first to reply, "No worries, big guy. We were just about to order." Tony glanced over at Pepper, a small smirk on his lips. Judging from the look of utter shock on your face, Tony could tell that Thor was most definitely not who you were expecting as your date, but he was excited to see how it would pan out.
You couldn't lie to yourself, Thor was one of the most attractive men you had ever laid your eyes on, and you would be being dishonest if you said you didn't have a little crush on him. He was always kind to you, polite. The issue was, the two of you had never held a real conversation for more than five minutes. He wasn't around as often as Steve or Tony, Thor spent most days in Asgard or any of the other nine realms attempting to fix the mess his brother had made, which left little room for any form of bonding between the two of you.
As Pepper and Tony broke out into conversation about the latest Stark- whatever. You didn't really care all that much. You leaned to the side and mumbled a harsh, "What are you doing here?" You didn't mean for it to come across so mean, but you were shocked. You had expected anyone but Thor.
He let out a loud chuckle, which caught the attention of the couple sat opposite you, as you notice them glance towards the both of you. Was anything ever subtle when it came to Thor? You had figured out incredibly quickly that the answer was no. When the two had looked away and continued their conversation, Thor finally gave you the answers you wanted. "The Captain told me that he had already informed you of his absence."
"Well, he lied." You'd surely chastise him for that later, depending on how the night went.
"He had somewhere to be. So, when I returned, he proposed that I should come here instead. How could I pass up going to dinner with a lady like yourself?" He grinned.
You felt your face flush as you just stared at him, not all too sure whether Thor meant that or whether he was just trying to make you feel more comfortable with the idea of him being there rather than Steve. You weren't sure whether it was working, you just knew his presence alone made you feel flustered.
You only realised how embarrassingly long you had been staring at Thor when the waiter interrupted. Luckily, you had time to pull yourself together, as the waiter recognised both Tony and Thor and shyly asked for a picture, to which they both obliged. He took Tony and Pepper's orders first, before turning to you. "What can I get for you and your lovely date?"
Just as you had gotten yourself together, you were broken right back down again, feeling your face flushing once again. "I- No... We're not dating. I- the reservations... They were for four people and... It's not a date - "
"Were here as friends. Third and fourth wheeling, you could say." Thor interrupted, covering for you.
The waiter, not entirely convinced, just nodded his head slowly, "Right... Got it." Before taking your orders and swiftly leaving.
Tony scoffed, "For future reference, you're so not convincing, (Y/)." He let out a chuckle when you shot him an annoyed glare.
Again, Tony and Pepper fell swiftly into conversation, and you wished it were that easy for you and Thor. After a minute's silence, you thought you'd make a little small talk. "So, how's Asgard?"
He smiled and leant back in his seat, "Asgard is... Fine. We're still trying to restore peace amongst the Nine Realms, and we've suffered some great losses."
"I'm sorry to hear that Thor. And your parents? And... him?" You assumed Thor would know who you were speaking of, considering he had waged a war against Earth only a year ago.
"Loki will spend the remainder of his days in a cell. My father couldn't see the son he raised be sentenced to death. My mother grieves for him every day." He replied, being as honest with you as he could.
"I'm sorry about that. It must be rough." All the talk of his brother and Asgard was starting to take a slight toll on the night for you, and you could see he felt the same. You desperately hoped for a change of subject.
Thor took your hand, something you didn't expect him to do, but it felt so... right? He was attractive, that much you knew. But did you really have feelings for him this whole time? Surely he wasn't just touching you, and throwing those gorgeous, heart-warming smiles at you out of kindness? Out ofdoing Steve a favour?
"Don't be sorry. I don't mind you asking." He paused for a moment, offering you a smile whilst stroking the top of your hand with his thumb, "How's the creature at your residence?"
Furrowing your eyebrows for a second, you tried to understand what he was talking about. Until it dawned on you. You laughed, "The creature? You mean my cat, Florence?"
He nodded, "Yes, the cat....creature."
You shook your head, letting out a chuckle, "She's fine. She's getting fatter, though. I'm a little worried about her." You paused for a few moments, before you realised that Thor had never actually met your cat. "How did you find out about Florence?"
"The Captain let me see pictures of her on his device. I reckon I'd quite enjoy her company." He grinned at you again, and you couldn't help but melt a little more. And even more when you realised he still held your hand in his.
The rest of the evening went exceptionally well. Yourself and Thor seemed to never run out of things to talk about, and he found himself regretting having not approached you sooner. The two of you got along like a house on fire as he, in all his loud, eccentric glory, told you stories of his childhood and the adventures he had across the Nine Realms with his friends, whilst you listened tentatively, completely taken in by his every word.
At one point, as he spoke of Asgard, he offered to take you there one day, claiming that his mother would 'love your company'. You were sure he was just saying that, that he didn't actually mean it, so you politely declined his offer this time.
"As you wish. But I'll get you to agree one day. I swear." You could only laugh at his determination for you to visit his home.
When you left the restaurant, you and Thor walked ahead of Pepper and Tony, still deep in conversation. You grinned at him, "We should watch a movie when we get back. I was thinking a Disney movie?"
He nodded, smiling down at you, "That would be wonderful. I like the one about the lions and the kings."
You furrowed your eyebrows, "You mean...the Lion King."
He pointed at you, "Yes! That one! How did you know?" You just laughed in response.
Behind you, as they watched the whole scene, Tony scoffed, "Look at them, pretending not to be head over heels for each other. Disgusting. It makes me feel sick."
Pepper chucked lightly in response, nudging Tony, "Shush, you."
extended ending
When you entered the tower, Thor's arm wrapped around your shoulder, you saw none other than Steve Rogers sat in the common area. You raised your eyebrows, "Steve? What are you doing here? I thought you went away on some mission?"
He shrugged, trying his best to keep a straight face and a smooth voice, "Yeah... About that. Fury called off the mission. Said another team fixed whatever issues they were having."
You didn't believe that for one second and neither did Thor, but you chose not to press the matter, honestly not caring whether Steve had set you up.
"How was your date?" He asked.
You opened your mouth, about to deny for the second time that night that it was in fact, not a date, but as you felt Thor's fingers gently brushing your shoulders, you gave in. Of course it was a date. A date that you hadn't agreed to, a date that had shocked you, but a date nonetheless. And a damn good one. "It was great, actually." You looked up at Thor, "I'll go find a movie."
He nodded, "I'll go get snacks."
Furrowing your eyebrows, you stared at him in confusion, "You're still hungry? After everything you ate at the restaurant?"
Steve nodded to himself, a small smile on his lips as he listened to your playful banter. His plan had worked, and he was damn proud of himself.

The Avengers & Their TikTok Brand
Steve: "straight tiktok"- unfortunately as the face of America, steve is encouraged to maintain a clean and patriotic online presence. Does a few tiktok dances (helps fury learn renegade),and can occasionally be seen in sam and bucky's tiktoks.
Tony:"bartender & car tiktok"- teaches viewers how to make Avengers approved alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages. Also films improvements to his suits, and cars. pretty much what you'd expect from a cool dad.
Bruce:"science/bill nye tiktok"- makes videos of himself mixing chemicals with cool leds & music. Teaches actual educational material, but stops doing lives after the uncomfortable amount of, "Choke me Dr.Banner", comments he'd receive when only his hands were in view.
Natasha:"dance/beauty guru tiktok"- does a cool series where she tries to do Pointe in different shoes (docs, crocs, converse etc.). Occasionally posts a thirst trap, and does bomb makeup looks. Mostly associated with straight tiktok.
Clint:"cottagecore/family tiktok"- king of cottagecore/farm life aesthetic tiktoks. Very family friendly, and you don't wanna miss out on the lives where and his wife show you how to bake. builds a lot of lot of things for his kids. He captions his tiktoks, and even teaches some sign language.
Thor:"wholesome/funny tiktok"- Thor's account is a bit of everything. He love pranking Loki and the team, and he loves vlogging in Asgard. Reviews Pop tarts so often he gets a brand deal. Calls his lives,"question time with mjolnir" and sets his beloved hammer up in chair next to him. Very wholesome indeed.
Loki:"witchtok"- proudly shows off his altar and even teaches viewers spells on live. Almost got cancelled for absolutely berating the baby witches who hexxed the moon. Wanda has to stop him from making Thor a sour jar in retaliation for all the pranks he does.
Sam:"storytime/cooking tiktok"- loves showing off healthy and even vegan recipes. gets famous for a crazy randonauting storytime he did;he, bucky, peter, and Thor almost die twice that night. Gets tired of all the girls asking about his "hot friend with the long dark hair"
Bucky:"movie review tiktok"- has a black bullet journal where he reviews movies he's seen as he tries to familiarize himself with modern-day media. Makes a thirst trap at Pietro's encouragement to that one molchat doma song and ends up on alt tiktok. tries to do cc for lyrics but gives up because he keeps losing the texts on the screen.
Pietro:"straight/thirst trap f**** boy POVS"- very much let's his good looks and charm get to his head. Wanda is always clowning him in the comments. Teams up with Sam & Bucky to flush out the weird creepy dad povs.
Wanda:"alt & witchtok"- like Loki she loves doing little altar tours. She also enjoys doing general tarot reading tiktoks and offers great meditation and intuition exercises. Almost breaks vision doing a tiktok couple trend.
Vision:"camera man"- doesn't really care for social media of any sort, but loves helping Wanda set up and film. literally short circuits when she does the "dropping the towel on my partner" trend. May find himself on August 27th tiktok.
Peter:"indie/alt tiktok"- at first it's just Peter parker posting tiktoks of MJ, Ned, and himself getting coffee or them randonauting. Then his identity as Spider-man is revealed and straight tiktok fights for him to be their king. Occasionally posts tiktoks as Spidey, but that results in him being on cosplay tiktok.
Nick:"what the hell is a tiktok?! Do I look like I know what a tiktok is? Man get out of my damn office, can't you see i'm busy?" *continues practicing renegade* "Friday, have Rogers report to my office immediately.
Coulson:"camera man"- like vision, mainly helps nick make tiktoks, although he's thought about joining "cosplay tiktok" and busting out his old cap costume.

In Another Life
Bucky Barnes x reader ° part nine
Summary: Waiting 88 years to find your soulmate? It was cruel. But it was a cruel fate Bucky would have to face whether he accepted it or not. Bucky was a tortured man all his life and he wasn't even granted the solace of having his soulmate at his side. All he had was the promise of one in another life. They were separated by two different times.
But the pain in their lives were connected.
Y/n had been alone ever since she could remember. All she could depend on was the soulmate that was destined to be at her side. Yet when the snap occured she lost him.
And Bucky never got to meet her.
Tumblr media
After a successful run of the machine, Clint was a firm believer in time travel. Though he had only briefly visited the past, hearing his daughter's voice for a moment had locked in his devotion. Tony, Rocket and Y/n all shared a mutual relief and joy from such a break in science yet their celebration couldn't last long.
With the time travel machine completed, the team they had managed to pull together gathered to come up with a plan. Finding the infinity stones, something Y/n had taken upon herself to study the past few weeks, was difficult especially when they had to find an exact moment in which that stone was accessible.
They spent hours talking to one another about what they knew about the stones. It was frustrating not having all the information and they even found themselves strung out across the floor or furniture in thought.
"Guys, what about New York?" Y/n questioned, laying with her head on Nat's stomach while Tony was at her side.
"Wait, yeah. Pick the right year and there are three stones in New York." Nat agreed. Tony shifted beside Y/n making her groan as she involuntarily moved to accommodate him.
"Shut the front door." Bruce gasped, peeking up at them from the ground. Y/n looked up at Nat sharing a proud smirk with her as the two men discussed the discovery.
Eventually they figured out a plan, one that got them all the stones. Steve, Tony, Bruce and Scott would go back to the Battle of New York in 2012 to get the Time stone, Tesseract and Scepter. Nebula, Rhodey, Nat and Clint would travel to 2014 to get the Orb in Morag as well as the Soul Stone in Vormir. Y/n wasn't sure where that was but she was grateful she didn't have to go to such a menacing sounding place. Thor and Rocket opted to go to Asgard in 2013 to extract the Aether from a woman named Jane Foster. All the while, Y/n would stay in case something went wrong so she could bring them back.
The GPS tech Tony had made was given to each member and when activated it gave them suits able to withstand time and space. After a little tinkering with Tony she managed to help give each suit its own quality which matched the wearer but all sported the famous Avengers symbol. That she made sure of.
"Five years ago, we lost. All of us. We lost friends...we lost family…we lost soulmates...we lost a part of ourselves. Today, we have a chance to take it all back." Steve began, sharing a short glance with Tony then Y/n. She was nervous. So painfully nervous. If this went wrong, they had nothing to lose anyways. This wasn't what worried her, however. What if they did succeed? What if her soulmate came back? Was she ready for that?
"You know your teams, you know your missions. Get the stones, get them back. One round trip each. No mistakes. No do-overs. Most of us are going somewhere we know. But it doesn't mean we should know what to expect. Be careful. Look out for each other. This is the fight of our lives. And we're gonna win." Y/n watched from the control panel as they all formed a circle on the machine.
She had heard speeches from him before but never one quite like that. Saving people brought out another side of him, one she admired greatly.
"Whatever it takes. Good luck." Steve said, sharing a look with Tony. They were friends in that moment and they allowed themselves to put their past behind them.
"He's pretty good at that." Rocket nodded in approval, earning a thrilled nod from Scott.
"Right?" Scott exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement. Steve sighed giving the two a stern look but Y/n knew he was only embarrassed. She shot him a playful wink, smiling at the grin that appeared on his face from it.
"All right. You heard the man. Stroke those keys, shrink." Tony called over to Y/n. She shook her head, giving him a short glare to which he only chuckled.
"Trackers engaged." Y/n announced. Tony gave her a nod and she couldn't help but feel a little pride. She had never thought she'd meet her idol let alone become so close with him. And though he'd never admit it, she could tell he'd grown used to her presence during their weeks together.
"You promise to bring that back in one piece, right?" Rocket said suddenly, eyeing Clint threateningly. Clint's face was pale and he obviously seemed nervous with what they were doing as he stared down at the shrunken Benatar in his hand.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. I'll do my best." Clint said, giving Rocket a forced reassuring smile. Rocket seemed unconvinced as he crossed his arms.
"As promises go, that was pretty lame." He mumbled, looking over at Y/n to back him up. She offered him a shrug, double checking projections of the controls.
"See you in a minute." Nat joked to Steve, an excited smile falling on her lips. She was the happiest Y/n had ever seen her now that there was a chance of bringing everyone back. The whole plan had brought everyone together and made them hopeful and Y/n refused to think about what would happen if it didn't work. It had to.
The team allowed their helmets to come forward, each with a matching expression of anxiety yet determination. They had all felt responsible for the death of the world but they were certain they'd fix it no matter what. And from her point of view, it terrified her. If there was one thing Y/n knew, it was that desperation made people do dire things.
"Good luck." They all activated their trackers and Y/n pressed the green button to send them off. Each shrunk and disappeared into the platform of the machine, leaving Y/n alone. She shifted her gaze to the timer beside the button as it counted down from 60 seconds.
The minute was agonizing as she watched the small dots of where her friends were through their trackers. It was horrible just being able to watch and hope that nothing happened to them.
As it reached the final few seconds she realized that was the case as Steve and Tony jumped to 1970 making her heart stop for a moment. What was she supposed to do? Could she bring them back from the control panel? Had they run out of fuel?
Thankfully, all her panicked thoughts washed away as the group returned, noticing Steve and Tony among them with a sigh of relief. But by looking up she missed the blinking red light where Nat's tracker once was.
The machine powered down and they retracted their suits, looking around at one another for the stones. Y/n let out an airy laugh, glancing down at the control panel to shut it off but the single light made her heart stop. It blinked slowly sending an overwhelming amount of despair through her as the room was filled with excited and even disbelieving comments.
"Did we get them all?" Bruce questioned, looking around at their hands. Most were quiet after going back in time but as Y/n looked up at Clint she realized he'd been quiet for a different reason.
"You telling me this'll actually work?" Rhodey asked, scoffing at how the insane plan was actually coming together. Yet no one answered him as Y/n walked over onto the platform, pacing toward Clint.
"Clint, where's Nat?" Y/n demanded, her voice trembling. The fear in her tone sent the same dread the two felt through everyone else and they all stared at where Nat once stood in dismay. Clint fell to his knees, his expression numb and his eyes red.
She couldn't be gone. There was still so much Y/n hadn't said. So much she hadn't thanked her friend for. There were too many good things that Nat still deserved. But she was gone.
"Where is she?" Y/n asked, once more, tears stinging at the corners of her eyes.
Everyone knew what had happened even if Clint refused to speak. Tears fell down Y/n's cheeks and she turned away, finding Steve at her side to pull her into his arms. She cried softly into his chest, hearing Bruce behind her fall to his own knees and pound a fist into the machine.
•••
It took a very long time before Y/n or Clint spoke again. Though Y/n hadn't known Nat as long as Clint had, Nat had been one of the only people Y/n had left. If this worked, Clint could have his family back but Y/n would still only have the people in that room. And even they had lives they'd return to.
As Y/n sat there on the dock listening to the soft sound of water as it peacefully splashed, she realized why she should've never helped. Everytime she tried to help, something went wrong. Everytime she tried to be something she wasn't, someone lost their life. She couldn't do this anymore.
She'd sat through the discussion they'd had about Nat and how she'd given her life for the stone. It wasn't fair but Y/n knew Nat made the choice. She did exactly what Y/n had feared and she felt like an idiot for letting Nat go. She could've said something.
Once they'd left, Y/n stayed behind knowing she wouldn't be able to face anyone for a while. She'd dealt with loss before and from a psychiatrist standpoint she usually handled it exceedingly well. But this time was different.
"Hey." Steve spoke softly, sitting beside her. She didn't reply but Steve anticipated this, allowing her to sit quietly.
"You know it's not your fault. Nat made a choice." Steve said, trying to give her a little solace. Y/n shook her head, groaning at how much guilt weighed down on her.
"No, it is my fault. Nat's life ended when the snap happened, I should've known she would've done anything to fix it." Y/n said, wiping her eyes hastily. Steve cautiously put his hand on her shoulder, having never seen her like this. It was awful seeing someone he had watched help hundreds of people, himself included, break before him. It felt awful being unable to do anything to help her in return.
"There's no way you could've known." He murmured his voice barely above a hurt whisper. She shook her head again, standing up suddenly and pointing to her chest.
"I did, though. Deep down I knew but I was so caught up in being a hero for you and everyone else, I forgot to do the only thing I'm good for! I can't do this, Steve!" She cried. As much as she fought it, her tears returned out of frustration, these burning down her raw cheeks.
Steve believed in her and that's why he wanted her to stay but she had crumbled under the pressure and now Nat was dead. She couldn't be the hero he and Nat wanted her to be and she refused to jeopardize the plan with her presence.
"I'm leaving. I'm sorry but I just can't do this anymore." She said void of emotion as she pushed past him to walk off the dock. Steve stood, his heart racing and his eyes watering as he watched her storm off. He wanted to apologize, say anything to make her stay. He had dragged her into this afterall.
But something she said had stopped him.
"I never asked you to be a hero." He blurted making her freeze dead in her tracks. Her blood ran cold and she slowly turned to him, confusion creased in her brow.
"What?" She questioned, not daring to look back. Steve took a cautious step forward, his own brow furrowing as he tried to piece together what she had said moments before.
"I never asked you to be a hero, I just asked you to be there for me." Y/n flinched, realizing what she had said. Then her promise to Nat resurfaced. The last thing Nat had asked of her was to tell Steve of her past. And she couldn't even do that.
"Forget it."
"No. Please, Y/n. What have you been hiding? There's so much about you I don't know and I never asked because I trust you but I need to know now." Steve demanded, staring at her back as she refused to turn to him. "You're one of the last people I have left, I have to know I can trust you!" Steve pleaded.
It was too late now, Y/n knew that. Steve was set on getting an answer and he was never one to give up. But she desperately needed him to. Her past was terrible, sure, but there was so much that came with it.
Did she only become his friend because she was SHIELD once? Was he a mission? Did she even care about him? These were questions she knew he would ask and she couldn't bare to lose him because he believed that yet again someone close to him was only close because he was a job.
"You can trust me!" She insisted but it went through one ear and out the other.
"Prove it. Tell me the truth." Steve begged. "What was so horrible that you have to bury it all inside? What are you so afraid of?!"
That was the last straw. The thread she'd been clinging to snapped and she now fell into the despair and guilt that had consumed her all those years ago.
"You wanna know about my past?!" She snapped, turning to face him. "I was naive and righteous! I was smart, so smart that I thought I could be a hero too!" Y/n shouted, frustrated tears welling in her eyes. "I joined SHIELD and worked with Fury to become the next generation of avengers. I trained and worked and fought to be like you! To be a hero! But you know what it got me?!" The question was harsh and Steve flinched at it. He'd never seen her erupt like this before. Never saw her break or scream until her lungs were sore.
She was done. Done hiding, done running. She was tired of hating who she was. Tired of being unable to forgive the mistakes of a child.
Steve was silent. It was a lot to process, she knew that but his silence unsettled her. There was no set response she was expecting from him but no response at all was definitely not something she foresaw or wanted. She wanted him to yell back. To hate her for keeping it all from him. Or even to demand she leave. Anything but silence.
"I put a target on my back and those I loved. My brain was used for HYDRA without my knowledge and when I was finished, they killed my family and tried to take me." She finished, tears rolling down her cheeks in a pitiful way. It was weak and pathetic but she couldn't help it. Not once had she ever confessed the full truth before. Never had she unleashed everything that ate her up inside.
"They sent their favorite assassin that day, the day I lost everything. I nearly died." She confessed, her voice on the verge of breaking as sobs racked her shoulders.
Not a word was spoken but he moved. He stepped forward, grabbing hold of her and pulling her to him. There was more silence. But she was okay with it this time. Steve had said a lot in his lifetime. But with Y/n actions spoke louder than words. So that was what he did.
And in that simple hug he was able to tell her it was alright. The guilt and shame she'd felt towards herself was enough and honestly Steve didn't feel the same. He felt sad. Sad for her.
"Who did HYDRA send?"
He hadn't meant to ask. It was the least appropriate time to do so but it had been drilling into his skull since she'd first mentioned the organization he'd been fighting all his life.
He needed to know. To confirm what she'd told him, even if he feared the truth she'd offer.

Warninngs: angst, fluff, that's all! Enjoy x
Tumblr media
For your entire life, you were always the 'innocent' one. Sure, you were optimised and generally a happy person, but people seem to take advantage of that a lot. That never dampened your mood, though; you always stayed the same happy-go-lucky little burst of sunlight through childhood to adulthood. That's also the reason that upon meeting new people, they never expect your job to be an avenger. Your work never really phased you; most of the people who you killed deserved it, but every now and again there was an odd time where you felt a slight hint of guilt.
Among the avengers, you were known as the little ray of sunshine, too. Pretty much all of the avengers had dark pasts, but not you. You lived a normal life, excelled at school, went to college, and got a normal job. S.H.I.E.L.D discovered you after you got into an accident and were struck by lightning: after you recovered, you found out that you could control lightning. You quickly joined the avengers, and got on very well with everyone. You knew all of the avengers, and were aware of all possible threats, enemies, blah blah, except one. Thor's brother, Loki, had committed several offences in the past, but redeemed himself by helping the team every now and again. You had never met Loki, but the Avengers made it clear that they wanted to keep it that way.
"Hey Steve!" You walked into the common area after a few hours training in the gym. Steve was in the kitchen, passing him as you got a bottle of water, and you looked over to see Natasha, Sam, Bucky and Thor on the sofas. "Good morning guys, how are you all?" You grinned at them as you walked over to sit next to Nat, a slight spring in your step.
"Why are you always so happy?" Bucky grunted as you sat unbeaten him and Nat. Sam gave Bucky a frown, and turned to you. "Don't mind him, he just found out that his favourite TV show has been cancelled."
"Aww, Heroes of Bruin!?" Bucky gave you a small nod, his arms crossed tightly around his chest. You placed a hand on his shoulder and gave him a sympathetic smile. "Don't worry, Buck. I'm sure you'll find a better series soon! You can always borrow one of my box sets, you know where they are!" Bucky thanked you, and you sat back on the sofa, taking long gulps of your water.
"Seriously though, y/n. What keeps you so positive?" Steve asked, leaning on the kitchen counter. You shrugged, taking one last sip of your water.
"I don't really know, to be honest. I have a roof over my head, a good job, food, clean water, and friends and family who love me!" You stood up, walking over to the kitchen island and sitting opposite Steve. "Besides, what's there to be miserable about? Yeah, work does get hard sometimes, and life isn't easy, but that's just more drive to stay positive. It's not going to get me anywhere by being grumpy and mean like a certain tin man in this building!" You both laughed, thanking God that Tony wasn't in the room to hear what you just said. From the sofa, you heard Nat starting to talk to Bucky and Sam.
"...but there's nothing else we can do about it other than get in contact with some of our aliases and-"
"What's going on?"
Cutting in, you stood up from the island and walked over to the sofa.
Nat turned to look at you while Sam and Bucky continued to read from the iPad she held.
"There was a break in at a Hydra base a few days ago. The person who broke in stole Hydra's files about us, and some files about them. My best guess is that it's somebody who's against Hydra but also against us." Nat took a long deep breath, and turned back to her iPad, still talking to you. "We need to get in contact with non-avengers who have fought with us in the past, see if they have any idea. Steve and I are going to S.H.I.E.L.D. tomorrow, Thor will be returning to Asgard to talk with Loki, I don't know what else we can do."
You perked up at the mention of Loki, and suddenly came up with an idea. "How about I go with Thor? I've always wanted to see Asgard, and it's better than just having one person go." You saw Nat look up and glare at Steve, who did the same, before they both turned to you. Steve sighed, and looked away; clearly, there was something on both of their minds.
"That's a good idea about somebody going, it's better to be safe than sorry. What about Clint? D'you think he'd want to go?" Steve was looking at Natasha when he asked, and you felt a but left out. Instead of becoming angry, you just smiled and turned to face Steve. "What about me?" You asked, still smiling widely.
"Uh, y/n? I don't really think you should go..." Natasha remarked next to you, and you ever so slightly frowned.
"What do you mean?" You kept your voice gentle and upbeat, thinking of reasons why it would be perfect to go.
"Don't take this the wrong way, but there's some bad people on Asgard. We know you could handle it, but people like Loki are...dangerous, and I for one don't think it's in your best interest to make friends with people like him." You could tell by her tone that she felt guilty, but that didn't stop her from speaking her mind anyway. You didn't really understand what she meant; you're around dangerous people all the time, you can easily handle another one.
"If you don't think it's a good idea for me to go, then why is Clint an option?" Like magic, clint walked in at the exact second you said that. Looking up at him, you carried on speaking. "We have the same skill level at fighting, anyway! Besides, I have superpowers too, I can easily protect myself and Thor if need be."
Clint looked at you and Natasha, a puzzle expression plastered on his face. Nat gave him the run down, and he seemed slightly underwhelmed.
"There's no reason why y/n shouldn't be able to go to Asgard."
"Yes, but she's going to asgard to get in contact with Loki." Natasha's expression looked stern, her eyes piercing through Clint's.
"...oh."
"C'mon guys, what're you hiding? I'm sure I can take it, what's the harm in me going to Asgard?" Despite being slightly irritated, you still smiled and laughed a bit at the end of your sentence, making sure the rest of the group knew you were still just as happy as you were after returning from they gym, 10 minutes ago. Clint, Natasha, Steve, Bucky and Sam all gave each other quick glances before Bucky groaned and sat up.
"Listen, y/n. The reason why none of us want you to go to Asgard is because we want you to stay away from Loki. Although he's fought along side us in the past, he's a terrible person. And you're so...so happy and innocent all the time, we don't want him to..."
"You don't want him to corrupt me." You finished off Bucky's sentence, speaking quieter, thinning to yourself. There was suddenly a sort of dark cloud above the room, and an awkward silence prolonged for at least 20 seconds. You could sense how guilty everyone felt, but instead of exploding, you burst into a fit of giggles.
Everyone frowned as they watched you almost fall off the sofa in laughter. Once you calmed down, you wiped your eyes, and almost bust out laughing again at the confused faces of everyone around you. You sat back, smiling ear to ear. "Why would you think something like that?" You asked the room, taking a sip of water. "Honestly guys, I've been with you bunch of Serious Sally's for almost a year. I think it's safe to say that no matter who I spend my time with, I'll never stop being the 'happy and innocent' person who I am. Besides, we're only going to be on Asgard for a day at most, what could go wrong?"
—————
The next day, you were on Asgard. You were so thankful that Nat had finally let you go with Thor, and now you were stood outside of a tall golden palace, behind a beautiful view of Greek-style hills and mountains. You were speechless, to say the least.
"Brother Loki should be here any minute..." said thor, looking over at a clock tower. You couldn't make out what time it was - the numbers were Asgardian - but it was about 12 before you left. Before you could think anything else of it, something appeared before you two. It was Loki.
"Nice to see you again, brother!" Thor exclaimed as he went in for a hug. Loki barely hugged him back, and pulled away, turning to face you.
"Well well well, who's this who you've brought along with you?" Loki asked Thor, yet stared at you with a slight smirk. "Loki, this is y/n. She's a friend from work." Loki took your hand and bowed down slightly, and placed a kiss on the back of your hand; a kiss which you couldn't describe as chaste, making eye contact with him the entire time. He rose and let go of your hand, fingertips brushing slightly. "Pleased to make you acquaintance, Lady y/n." You were tongue tied, but before you could even begin to formulate words, Thor started talking. He rambled on about why you were here, and if he knew anything about the break in, but you weren't listening to a single word. Instead, you never took your eyes off Loki.
His shoulders were broad, sleek black hair running just past them. He stood with confidence, taller than Thor but thinner. Despite this, you could still see defined muscles from underneath the Asgardian clothes he wore. His eyes were a cold shade of blue, resembling ice. While Thor was still talking, he looked over at you, catching you staring at him. You maintained eye contact, your cheeks turning a childish shade of pink, and he winked at you before turning back to concentrate on his brother. The corners if his lips were slightly upturned, and a few strands of hair fell into his face as he nodded along to whatever Thor was saying.
"Well, I haven't heard any news, I'm sorry I can't be of any help. Do you both want to get lunch?" You turned to Thor, cocking an eyebrow.
"I'm sorry, brother, but I must go and talk to the others and see if they've heard anything. But, it won't hurt if you and y/n get something to eat?" You and Loki both turned to face each other, and you smiled wider than ever.
"I'd love to."
You and Loki walked in silence to the dining hall, passing many Asgardian maidens on your way. You felt slightly underdressed; all asgardian women wore long flowing gowns, whereas you were dressed in high waisted denim shorts and a red turtleneck. Once you arrived at the dining room, you were confronted with a grand gold table topped with all kinds of food. Cheese, grapes, wine, and some sort of Asgardian meat that you couldn't recognize. It felt magical, yet you felt out of place. As you furthered towards the table, Loki took out a chair for you to sit down in. Thanking him, you sat, and his fingertips brushed against your clothed shoulders. Butterflies swarmed in the pit of your stomach, and you quietly giggled at yourself for becoming so flustered. Once Loki was seated, you asked him a question.
"So, Loki," you began, looking around at the feast laid out for you, "what do you get up to on Asgard?" As you spoke, he poured crimson wine into a goblet, and you felt obliged to do the same.
"Surprisingly, not much." He spoke with, what resembled, an English accent. Every consonant was sharp, every vowel curved on his lips. "Every now and again we have to meet with people from other worlds, like you. Thor doesn't come and visit very often, so the mass amount of paperwork that has to be done is left to me." He rolled his eyes yet bore a smile, to which you laughed.
"Trust me, I know what it feels like. Ever since Tony and Steve got into that disagreement about where the files should be stored, I've been in charge of all paperwork. I don't mind it though, there's some sort of satisfaction in the orderliness of it all..." you looked up at him and grinned, being able to physically feel the awkwardness between you both. Although, he could look at your smile forever; the way your y/e/c shone in the light, dimples in you cheeks becoming more pronounced by the second, your lips curling ever so slightly inwards as a sigh escaped from them.
"I'm sorry, I've never really been one for small talk. Asgard seems wonderful, though. The landscape is impeccable, and everyone just seems so...perfect, I guess!" Speaking quieter, you leaned in the get closer to Loki, sat opposite you. "I feel like I could spend the rest of my life here." He knew you meant it, being able to feel the pure excitement you radiated. Tucking a piece of hair behind your ear, you sat back and pointed towards one of the golden dishes beside you, holding some fruits and vegetables.
"May I?"
"Of course, go ahead."
As you spooned a kind of salad onto your plate, Loki rubbed his stubble dotted chin. Loading your fork and taking a bite, you felt a wave of peace flow over your body. You had no idea what you were eating, but it was damn good.
"What part of midgard are you from, y/n?"
"Midgard?" You spoke through your mouthful of salad and swallowed. "Oh, right, Earth. I'm from Brooklyn, New York, but I live in Manhattan." You took a sip of wine, cringing at it's strength. Noticing this, Loki let out a laugh.
"Asgardian alcohol isn't for the weak, I'd take it easy if I were you..." you knee he was joking at the last part, so you laughed with him. The moment was sweet, but you can always have too much of a good thing. After Loki filled his plate, and you took a few more mouthfuls of salad, Thor strode in looking pleased with himself.
"Hey Thor, what's up?" Thor sat down at the table and picked up a bunch of grapes, popping one into his mouth.
"I just checked the comms," he swallowed, "Nat and Steve have all the information we need from S.H.I.E.L.D., so we can go back to midg- uh, Earth, sorry. Ready to go?" You looked at Loki who gave you a small nod as he put his cutlery down, and you stood up with a smile.
"Ready than I'll ever be!"
Thor and Loki stood up and walked towards you, and you went to shake Loki's hand. His hands were cold, icy to the touch, and his slender fingers certainly overpowered your small ones. He leaned in before you could break away, whispering in your ear. "Come back soon, I'd love to see you again."
You blushed, nodding, and he gave you a sly wink. Sooner or later, you were back on Earth, missing Asgard more and more by the second.
—————
Two months later, and you were head over heels for Thor's brother. Once you returned back to earth, Tony made it very clear that he disapproved of your trip. He sat you, Thor, Clint, Nat and Steve down in the conference room and screamed at all of you, acting like a very strict father. He had no idea what had happened on Asgard, but he let it slip that all of the avengers had an agreement - never let y/n meet Loki. Obviously, that was out the window, and it resulted in a conflict between Steve and Tony, as per usual. However, all of the avengers shared one common thought, and it was that you should never go back to asgard again.
"She's met Loki and had a look around Asgard, now there's no reason for her to go back."
"What if he's done something to her mind? We can't let her go back."
"We can't let Loki back into the facility when y/n is around, we can't handle anything else happening at the moment."
You often heard Steve and Tony talking about you in the other room, but you ignored it. 3 trips to asgard, 2 secret earth dates and 1 sleepover later, you and Loki decided you were serious; you both liked each other so much, and you wanted to tell other people. However, you had no idea how you were going to tell the avengers. You almost got caught a few times, but luckily, you were quite good at covering yourself up.
"Yo, why are you texting Pizza Hut?"
"Stop looking at my phone, Sam! Besides, I was actually ordering us a pizza, but I guess I'll just go and make myself a sandwich instead..."
"No y/n I take it back!!!"
It was a quiet day in the avengers tower when you decided to share your secret. You, Steve, Tony, Nat, Thor, Bruce and Clint were in the conference room having just finished a meeting. Before anyone could leave, you asked to talk to them for a bit. Despite being happy and confident in telling your friends that you were in love, your palms were sweating and you felt slightly nauseated. Nat must have noticed, and asked if you were okay.
"Everything alright?"
You stood in front of the table, toying with the hem of your skirt behind your back. Taking a deep breath, you looked up at your colleagues sat in front of you.
"I actually have some news to share with you all. A couple of months ago, Thor and I went to Asgard, and I found out about your weird pact thingy forbidding me from meeting Loki. Well, it happened, and it went well! Despite you all feeling very strongly about it, I did enjoy myself. Honestly, I heard you all talking about me 'never returning' and not being able to see Loki again, and it did sorta hurt..."
Steve bowed his head down slightly and Natasha avoided eye contact; you didn't want to guilt trip them, so you continued.
"...and that's okay! You're allowed to be protective of your friends, and I understand why you'd want me to be cautious around certain people. But that's not the point: the point is, I'm an adult, and although I may not be as old as Steve," (Tony chuckled at that) "I'm still an adult. I went to college, I have a job, my own apartment. I'm old enough to know right from wrong, which is why I may or may not have seen Loki 6 times in the past two months..."
"What!?" Natasha looked furious, and everyone had their eyes on you. Steve looked disappointed, Tony didn't look surprised, and Thor seemed quite amused. Bruce and Clint didn't look phased, to be completely honest.
"Please listen to me, I'll explain everything." Everyone eased up slightly as you took a deep breath, standing closer to the table. "I've been back to Asgard four times, and Loki has come to earth twice to see me. I know you would all freak out about him coming to earth, but I made him wear that patch that Tony built which dampened his powers. Whenever he was on earth, he was just a normal person. We got to talking and decided to see each other more often, and we've become quite close."
"If you say that you and Loki are friends, I will jump off of this building." Natasha remarked, crossing her arms. She was definitely the most protective of you, seeing you as a little sister.
"You're not going to like this." you muttered, sighing.
"Loki and I are in love and we've been seeing each other for two months!" You spoke quicker than lightning, grinning at the end, and sprinting out of the conference room. As you ran to the common area, you heard shouting erupting from the conference room, mainly coming from Nat, Steve and Tony. You knew they wouldn't take it well, but you didn't expect it to go down this badly. You heard the commotion from the conference room slowly make it's way closer to the common area, so you bolted towards the bedrooms. You didn't live in the avengers tower, but practically everyone else did.
Hiding in Natasha's room is too obvious, she's the avenger who you're closest to. Hiding in Thor's is also too risky, as he has asgardian technology; as far as they're concerned, you might try and get in contact with Loki. Tony's room? Too stinky. Clint's room? Too stinky². Steve's room? You looked up to that man as a brother, and you certainly were not interested in whatever sort of magazines and movies that he kept in there ( ;) ). That left one other person's room: Bruce's. Quickly sliding into his room, you crawled under the poofy duvet on his bed. Luckily, Bruce's blanket was practically three duvets thick, so they wouldn't be able to tell that you were in there.
Bruce's sheets smelled like lavender and vanilla, with a very vague scent of aftershave; you loved it. You could probably stay there for hours, and even fall asleep, but the faint musk you smelled on his sheets reminded you of Loki. His aftershave always smelled like bonfires and liquor, a scent that you could fall in love with over and over again. You must have laid in in Bruce's bed for 20 minutes before you heard footsteps outside the door. You were never one to do this (run and hide from something difficult) as it seems childish, and the gang already treats you like a child enough. However, you didn't know how you would recover from this one. You heard doors open and close nearby - they must be looking for you. The door to Bruce's room suddenly opened, and you held your breath in an attempt to be quieter. You heard a deep sigh, and somebody sat on the end of the bed. You could just tell that it was Bruce, and you felt safer with him here.
"Listen, kid-"
"Bruce, you're my favourite, but call me kid one more time and I will smite you."
He chuckled and apologised, continuing to talk. "Sorry, y/n. I know how you feel. Frustrated, confused, low on hope." You poked your head out from underneath the duvet and moved over on the bed, sitting up. You motioned for Bruce to sit next to you, which he did.
"I've been through this sequence over and over again," he said, laying down next to you, "yet I never seem to break the cycle. But there's a difference between you and I, y/n. When I'm feeling like this, I show it. I'm not talking about hulking out, but about how I hold myself. I'll be visibly down and depressed, everyone can tell that I'm going through something. But you, you hold it in. You smile and laugh through every emotion you have, and I can't help but admire you for it."
You both turned your heads to look at each other, Bruce giving you a small smile.
"When you're sad or angry, you continue to smile. All of the other avengers get tricked by it, thinking that you're truly fine, but you don't fool me. I can see, every time you cover your emotions, I can see the fire behind your eyes. Or how you tighten your grip when you feel stressed. Although you may be smiling and laughing, I know what's going on behind those eyes. You do a good job, y/n, but maybe bottling it all up isn't the best option. Maybe that's why you fell for somebody who is the completely opposite, like Loki. Because you'd never dare to show your negative emotions outwardly and indulge in the feeling of letting everything out. Now that you've found somebody who you can share these emotions with, you feel like you can be yourself. What I'm failing to say, is perhaps you could let your emotions show a bit more. You don't have to complain or mope around the tower like Tony, but maybe let people know when you are uncomfortable, or confront people who make you upset."
You had closed your eyes about half way through Bruce's speech, and when you opened them your eyes brimmed with tears. He didn't say anything, but instead, Bruce held his arms out and took you in an embrace. You hugged him back, feeling warm and safe, not knowing how to express to him how much he meant to you.
"How did the others react?" You asked into his chest. Bruce was hesitant to reply, and didn't know whether it was best to tell you the truth or let you see for yourself. With a content sigh, he replied.
"I'm afraid to say they didn't take it very well. Natasha blames herself, Steve's a bit frustrated, and Tony...Tony said he feels 'stabbed in the back by his greatest friend', but I think he was being a bit too over dramatic."
"Why do they hate him so much?" You asked, pulling away from Bruce and sitting up on his bed.
"It's complicated." Bruce said, rubbing his forehead. "He's been with us in the past, but there have been multiple occasions where we've had to lock him up. We still don't know whether he's with us or against us, and now one of our best teammates is in love with him." You nodded, knowing what he meant. You knew you had to clear things up with the rest of the group, and you'd start with Natasha.
"Yeah, that makes sense. I'm sorry for hiding in here and messing up your covers, I'm going to go and talk to them and apologise." Before you got up from the bed, Bruce pulled you in for one last hug, planting a friendly kiss on your forehead. "Never apologise for falling in love."
—————
Never apologise for falling in love.
Never apologise for falling in love.
Never apologise for falling in love.
In your head, you repeated what Bruce had told you in his room. You were walking towards to common area where you knew the rest of the avengers would be. Bruce went in there first to calm everyone down, and you told him you'd be in there in a few minutes to tell everyone the news. Walking into the room, all eyes were on you. You became conscious of what you looked like, your face was probably red and puffy from crying.
"Do you have anything you'd like to say, y/n?" Steve asked in a harsh tone. He seemed extremely intimidating, and you suddenly felt small and worthless.
"Take it easy, Steve." Bruce said quite calmly. "Let her do it herself."
You smiled, a genuinely happy smile at Bruce. Despite having little to no confidence whatsoever, you were actually happy. Bruce had made you feel so much better, you had a boyfriend who you loved, and you wanted your friends to know whether they approved or not.
"I want to let you all know that I didn't do this on purpose. I didn't mean to bond with Loki, and I should never apologise for falling in love, and I'm not going to apologise. It's my life, and whether you approve or not, I'm going to continue to see Loki. However, I would like to apologise for how I acted. I shouldn't have run and hidden, and I could've broken the news in a nicer way. Do any of you have anything you'd like to say?"
There was a gloomy silence as the rest of the group contemplated what to say. Trying to alleviate the room of the awkwardness, Thor opined. "Well, I approve of your relationship, Lady y/n. I'm glad you've found someone!" Everyone looked at Thor, then back to you as you sat down on a chair. Steve opened his mouth and closed it a few times, he clearly was lost for words. Natasha was the first person to speak, coming to sit in the chair next to you.
"We overreacted, I'm sorry, y/n. I'm sure you could understand what we felt, but we support you. It'll take us a while to get used to it, but we all want you to feel comfortable. We love you, and if you love Loki then there is nothing we can do about it other than accept you."
The day ended with a group hug, lots of individual hugs from Natasha and Steve, and you & Bruce watching Star Wars after everyone had gone to bed. You were going to see Loki the next day, and you knew it would be the best day ever.

Imagine being able to hold Thors' hammer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Yeet, idfk I'm in a car thinking this up so yEAH—
———
You were the main one to usually tidy up after the messes that the rest of the avengers made in the tower; that included repairing destroyed parts of it. After all, it was the least you could do to repay Tony for letting you in as one of the family. Unfortunately, being let into the family also meant being the main target for idiot or cruel pranks cast upon you by the rest of the team. It was hard to get used to at first, but you eventually made way to accept that everyone were just as goofy and carefree on the inside as they were on the outside— They never meant you any harm.
Today was no different. Long story short: some idiot tried to attack the tower, lots of collateral damage to the tower, you going to clean up the tower. “[Name], you know I have money for a reason, right?” Tony asked, walking underneath the ladder you stood on with a coffee mug in hand. “Yeah but fixing things is my specialty. Consider it a second hobby besides helping you guys kick the shit out of bad guys.” “Language.” Steve groaned, relaxing into the couch. A smirk graced your face. “Figured you'd say that.” Tony took a seat at the dining room table.
“That guy was... Tough.” Clint exhaled an aggravated sigh. “Yeah, tell me about it.” Natasha added. “Are you all okay? I can fix you some cup of tea if you'd like.” You said, waving your hand upwards to have a multitude of tools make their way to the walls and initiated the cleanup. “No, no, [Name]. It's quite alright.” Bucky dismissed, still wondering how you could be in such a happy-go-lucky mood after what the hell just happened.
You reached your left hand downwards, expecting one of your tools to fly into hand. “Uhhh, I can't seem to find my hammer. Can someone get an extra from the closet?” At those words, an idea popped into a certain gods mind. Now he sure enough wasn't the mischievous type compared to his brother Loki, but Thor did enjoy teasing you as much as everyone else did. Clint stared at him with that knowing look in his eyes, fully aware of what the deity had in mind. It was quite obvious to everyone what Thor was thinking, and most of them groaned in dismay or laughed in agreement.
“You honestly can't find any other way to act smooth, can you?” Tony remarked with a sip of his drink. Unlike the others, the capabilities of Thors legendary hammer Mjolnir hadn't been leaked to you at all. And since you hadn't the slightest clue to whatever Thor was brainstorming, this only worked to his favor. “Of course he can't. The only way he knows how to is by telling his long tales of being a god and whatever.” Sam stated with a wave of his hand. To elaborate on what they were saying— Thor may have developed a small l̶a̶r̶g̶e̶ liking towards you. Just a little bit. But honestly, he wasn't the only one.
“You guys just can't leave the poor girl alone for one minute, can you?” Wanda laid back into the recliner while making said comment. “Hey, I'm not the one thinking it up.” Bruce waved his hands around in defense. “Nor am I.” Clint added before doubling with a, “But just in case, 30 bucks saying she'll hold it.” Que the loud and obviously ticked off groans from Steve. “That's a really low move,” He grumbled, throwing his left arm atop of his face. “..... 50 saying she will.”
Bucky threw a pillow at his companions stomach, scolding him for indulging in this idiot plan to make you swoon for Thor. “10 on her not holding it.” Until giving in himself for why not sakes.
Before they knew it, the team was all making quiet bets deciding whether or not your palm could properly wrap around the handle of the legendary hammer without falling. The good news if you couldn't hold it was that Thor could catch you —due to the weight of the hammer knocking you off balance and sending you quickly gravitating towards the floor— in one arm and his hammer in another, looking dashing and being seen in your eyes as ‘hero’. And even if you could hold it, to which he HIGHLY doubted, he'd be getting paid. It was a win-win on either side.
Snickers and moans, followed by a few discouraging comments courtesy of Sam, flew around as Thor aproached the ladder you stood at with Mjolnir behind his back. “[Name], I have the hammer you seek-” Once he turned his eyes up, he immediately dragged them back down to the floor with a crimson stroking his usual pale skin, not wanting to come off as ungentlemanly for staring at your rump. A cough came from his mouth as you opened a free hand and held it out, expecting the hammer to be set into your palm. “Thank you Thor.” Oh goodness your voice was like catnip to a catnip-starved street feline. He absolutely adored it with his entire heart and soul. Almost made him feel bad for what he was about to do. “E-ehem! You're deeply welcome, my dear [Name].” He said, pulling his weapon from behind him and holding it by the base, setting the handle within your palm. His head clocked back towards the team, who either gave a look of affirmation or one of disagreement to his action.
Thor sighed, his fingers releasing grip of the iron block and opening his arms out, ready to catch you.
Nothing happened.
It went dead silent in the tower, the only sound being you hammering the nail into the wall to finish hanging the picture. The amount of jaws that dropped was immesurable. Thor turned his head round to witness the shocked expressions written over his team mates faces. Oh yeah, they looked like all hell had been loose. Deciding to dart his gaze upwards to where they all directed their sights, he joined the rest of the avengers in this awestricken state.
There you were, twirling the hammer in your hand innocently as you wiped the sweat glands forming on your forehead. “There we go. Good as new.” You remarked with a chirp, pushing the picture frame to be straight and neat. You slid down the ladder as the tools fell back into your small toolbox, the top closing itself instinctively with a satisfying snap. “This is quite the odd modeling for a hammer. But nevertheless, thank you for the help. If I had moved, it might've been raining wrenches and iron bits, heh.” A gloved hand, your hand exactly, scratched the nape of your neck as you giggled nervously. Due to your close-eyed grin, you were unable to catch glimpse of Thors' undescribable expression that painted his face.
“I’ll get going to the outside now. Y-you all have fun!” With that you dashed through the living room on your way to the balcony, opening your eyes and taking notice of everyone's faces. “What's wrong? I can always lend an ear if need be.” You chuckled, leaving them all in wake of those words.
“She held it.” Clint was the first to speak up amongst the group, putting a wall between the quietness. “She actually held it.” His mouth was wide enough to stuff and entire pie in as he said that. “She actually held it.” Sam took a long hard stare at his drink, eyes furrowing. What the hell was in it? He wasn't drunk right now, right? Oh well, whatever was in it -or left in it- was gone, down his throat. Natasha just smirked in a know-it-all fashion, retorting “That's what you all get for underestimating the power of [Name],” “Aka the power of unrelenting kindness.” Wanda and Nat did a little fist bump. “Name's worthy... Totally didn't see that coming.” Steve said sarcastically with a smug look. He already foresaw the hammer within your threshold long ago after witnessing what a charismatic young lady you were, always willing to help whenever.
“See, this is the part where I wake up because I know I did not just let a 200 go to waste.” Tony said, pinching his cheeks. Everybody was stuck in conversation, dishing out surprised comments or bragging about the money they got simply from the bet. However, Thor wasn't making any comments at all. No gasps, no inhales, nothing. Just nothing. It was blatantly obvious that he was the most stunned of all. Bruce smirked. “What's the matter Thor? Someone finally picked up the claimed ‘unholdable’ hammer and now you're quiet?”
“To be honest, [Name] is probably the worthiest of us all.” Peter said. “I mean, she has a heart of gold. Literal gold.” He fawned over how much of a sweetheart you absolutely were. Pietro nodded in agreement. “She's a gracious girl with nothing but purity within her.”
It goes without saying that this whole idea of ‘worthy’ didn't define as much to everyone as it did to Thor. So many roads were being laid out before his very eyes revolving around you. This had so many different meanings, so many different futures. You could take place as a ruler of Asgard. You could possibly transend and become a goddess. The head attached to the mop of blonde hair was sent into a ditzy. He was in this state of rethinking literally everything that's eved occured in his life. His emotions were a mix of shock, rage, joy, and so much more— all of them swirling n him and creating a feeling he didn't even know existed. There was no way to even give it proper words. “Hey, Thor.” Rhodney snapped his fingers, eliciting the other to awaken from his daydream. “Oh, yes?”
“So, whatcha gonna do now?”
“What do you mean?”
“[Name] held your hammer. This obviously means something besides the fact that she's boiling with love to spread.” Bucky said. “Isn't there something more to it...?”
“I have to marry her.” Thor said without hesitation. “What?” Everyone in the room perked their heads up. “Asgard must be ruled over with those the hammer deems worthy, and [Name] is without a doubt worthy.” Oh how Steve was happy that he didn't pull the hammer off the table that time when they were all drinking. “Awww, so you finally get a shot to kiss wittle old [Name]y-waymey.” Tony mocked, making fake smooching noises. “He wasn't ever going to make a move on his own, I think it's good that the hammer got involved.” Pietro commented.
“Jeez it's blazing hot out there.” Speak of the devil, there you were, emerging from the outside with sweat running down your body, your clothes almost soaked in the substance. “I could use a drink right about now.” Waltzing your way to the fridge, you bent down and picked out a small glass of water, chugging it down in one gulp and releasing an ‘ahhh’ of satisfaction.
Thor felt something hit his head; A pillow. Glaring at the one who threw it, the god sighed at Clints childish act yet got the message. He inhaled, mustering all the courage he could and walking up to you. “Uhm, lady [Name], I could really-” “Hey Thor. Here's your hammer back.” You turned and greeted, opening his palm to place the hammer in it. “W-wait, you knew this was mines...?” He asked questioningly. “Yup. You always walk around with it after all,” A light laugh emitted as he took the time to process this. “It's pretty light for a hammer that only gods can pick up. Does that make me a goddess?” Everyone overhearing this in the living room snickered. No doubt about it, Thor was going to go crazy.
“Wellll, I guess since it's your hammer, that technically makes me your goddess!”

I See The Way They Look At Me (Peter Parker x Female Reader) Part One (1)
Title is from 'O.D.D' by Hey Violet (it's a really good song btw)
A/N - Uh, I might make this into a lil series
Tumblr media Tumblr media
~~
Peter Parker was a good kid. He was good in school, not counting the occasions that he skipped. And when he skipped, I skipped. You see, he's Spiderman. Yeah, that dude who can shoot webs. Yeah. It's pretty normal.
Me? Well, I'm an Asgardian. Loki's daughter. Yep. But it gets better! Because my father is half Jotun, guess what! I am too! Which means that technically I'm a princess of Jotunheim. It's a weird one. Luckily enough, the Frost Giants in Jotunheim seem to like me.
My Dad was the god of Mischief, and Lies. My Uncle was the god of Thunder. My grandfather, not biological, was just the king, but he's...not the nicest. I guess I ended up being the god of Animals? And any other mythical beast that isn't humanoid, except anything that bears human-like intelligence, with a few exceptions.
Dragons, for example. They're extremely intelligent. But, lo and behold, I can still chill out (haha) with them.
Which brings me to why I'm on...Earth? Is that what this place is called? Or Midguard, I guess.
Odin wasn't too impressed by the fact that I was a literal animal magnet. Dragons would fly in, and I would have to fly them out, although I did enjoy watching them wreak havoc.
Sometimes I would scare Thor by befriending a Thunder Dragon. Thunder Dragons are big, huge, serpentine beasts. They're long, ridiculously long, and have a massive wingspan. They also have four eyes, two on each side. They're pretty cute. Anyway. Uncle Thor is pretty scared of them, because they're one of the only creatures he can't scare off with his powers. So, when we were both walking around outside the city, I called one over, quickly befriended it, and then proceeded to prank Thor. He wasn't very impressed.
Anyway, because of my tendency to bring dangerous beasts in, Odin sent me down to Midguard so I could stay with the Avengers.
Me and Peter had taken to each other pretty quickly. We got on like a house on fire, one could say, but I don't really deal with fire. That why I stay away from any Helhounds, they're literally furnaces. Mean as well. They've got bark, literally, and bite.
So, once Peter learned of what I could do, he kept asking for demonstrations. I'd take him to somewhere remote, using the Asgardian version of a portal, and then I'd call over any creature he wanted me to. I once summoned a huge spider. We called him Aragog, because Harry Potter.
And while I showed off, Peter would observe me. He'd learnt most of my little quirks. Like how I had a tendency to slip into a baby voice when talking to animals. Especially snakes.
I must've picked that trait up from my Father. I had also inherited his personality, although I'm a little bit easier to approach.
Peter told Tony about my love of snakes, and the next day, when I got back from school, there was a full sized Vivarium, with a baby Durrell's Ground Boa inside. I named him Korealis. He's a few months old now, and where I go, he goes. No joke. He even comes with me to school.
They...know who I am. And because I am technically a god, they can't do anything. I maybe revel in that a bit too much. Korealis wraps himself around my neck, loosely, and stares at people. I mean, he can't blink, he doesn't have eyelids, so, y'know.
Ever since Tony got me Korealis, we've been close. Sure, Loki is my Dad, and I love him despite everything, and I used to see him a lot, but Tony's like a second father. Surprisingly, Dad didn't doesn't mind. He actually liked the fact that me and Tony are so close. I guess he did not care, as long as I was safe.
Hey, I went off topic again!
Peter...there were times when I wondered if he was really as fine as he seemed to be. Nobody his age should be seeing the things he's seen. The Infinity War? That was horrible. I was there. I was on Titan.
I saw him...no.
No.
I wouldn't think about that. I wouldn't think about how I cried. Oh, how I cried. I was already a mess because of Dad, but that was the final straw. After that, I helped Thor with New Asgard. I asked Dragons and Griffons and Pegasi to protect the land, and they agreed, gladly. To any non magical being, they just look like birds. But to another Asgardian, or a Sorcerer, or someone who knew what they were, they looked as they normally did. Majestic beasts, soaring through the sky. Graceful. Ready to attack. Ready to defend.
After New Asgard was stable, I headed off. I trained, honed my skills, until I was just like my Father. I think he'd be proud of me now, y'know. If only he could see me.
I missed him.
Then the remains of the Avengers came calling, and all it took for me to crack was to look at Tony, and I was a sobbing mess again. The memories came flooding back.
But it's over now. Tony was hurt, but he's okay. Pepper wants him to retire, but he's as stubborn as my Father. He won't retire.
When I first came here people were scared. Loki's attack was still fresh in the minds of some, and seeing me, smirking like the world was at my control, only caused memories to resurface. Even Tony was tense. Thor was quick to soothe everyone, though, reassuring them that, although personality wise, I was my Father, I wouldn't try to take over the world.
After I reverse engineered Tony's suit, and made my own, he warmed up to me. I guess he wasn't expecting me to be able to do it. But I did! And now I have my own suit. It's not like Tony's, mine is green and gold, and lighter so that I could move faster, and dodge easier. I replaced the repulsors with Asgardian Tech, and I chose to harness the Frixe Dragon's powers. I fired ice beams from one hand, and from the other, fire. I could freeze someone if I needed, and then unthaw them. Simple.
Peter was pretty impressed by that feat, and he literally took every chance he could to try and befriend me after that. Ugh, he makes me soft, I swear. For a while I was cautious, I didn't want to let my guard down, but I soon let him in, and, well, the rest is history.
Mine and Peter's first kiss was when he came back, after the whole Thanos fiasco. I was too excited, I couldn't contain myself, and after seeing him come back, I couldn't stop myself. I rand forwards, and I kinda just did it. Peter was grinning like a dork when I realised what I'd done, and I'd pulled away, and quickly darted off, taking to the air in my suit. Tony still teased me about that moment. Everyone did. I guess we were a little ray of sunshine in a battle.
It's kinda cute when you put it that way.
Me and Peter started dating two months after the kiss. He'd gathered the courage to ask if I could show him some more magical creatures, and I happily agreed, taking him to Mount Kilimanjaro. We sat halfway up, and I showed him Griffons, a Pygmy Faerie Dragon, and a Arachnellkero. Basically a giant spider, with wings. Once I'd sent them back, he asked for me to show him my favourite. I paused, thinking, and I then called a Basilisk. It was young, and therefore it's gaze was useless. No harm was caused. Peter smiled brightly at me, and in that moment, I couldn't help but smile back.
After I returned the Basilisk, we sat in a peaceful silence. Perfectly calm. At some point we wound up holding hands. At some point I fell asleep. At some point he called Stephen to portal us home.
I think Thor borrowed Tony's phone to take a picture of that moment. I don't blame him.
I wonder what my Father would say now. Would he be proud? Or disappointed, as Odin always was with him? But...Loki swore to me that he wouldn't be like Odin, and he wasn't. And he's dead now, damn it!
I missed him, I thought, as tears ran down my face. I wanted him back.
To Be Continued...
