WAIT I JUST HAD ANOTHER THOUGHT FOR THE DISASTER MEET THE INLAWS DINNER:

okay context: so in this AU, Danny and Dan are the only ones who don't know the batfam secret. Jazz figured it out when they first moved in next door to Jason. Damian told Elle after she trusted him with the truth about being a halfa. Elle didn't tell anyone else since it was a secret Damian trusted her with, while Jazz & Jason assumed that everyone else in the Nightingale family knew and never really brought it up.

It just completely sailed over Dan & Danny's heads. Even though part of the deal the family worked out with the Spirit of Gotham is to help protect her Bats and Birds (that's why Dan ended up in Bludhaven, to help keep Nightwing safe) and they regularly (secretly) follow the batfam around during patrols and fights to help make sure nothing bad happens to them.

Which brings us to the disaster dinner where, after things have almost calmed down from the chaos and embarrassment of Elle and Damian's power point & movie, everyone is actually almost getting along. Turns out, getting horribly roasted by the two gremlins helped break the ice a bit. It's kinda hard for the Bats to hold on to as much of the suspicion for the Nightingales as before when they just watched a supercut of everyone’s most embarrassing moments from the past five years with color commentary from the Chaos Duo.

Which is to say Danny is feeling comfortable enough - with some edging on by Elle - to reveal his conspiracy theory about who Batman is, to Bruce.

Just looks Bruce straight in the eye and with his whole heart and soul asks, "So, like you're for sure Batman's sugar daddy right?" -

Birdflash 50 First Dates AU

just thinking of this Dick and Wally AU wherein after Wally escapes the Speed Force, he gets memory loss. so every time Wally wakes up, he thinks it's the same day that he got trapped into the Force.

it was also the same day of their anniversary; Dick was planning to bring Wally to Paris and Wally was planning to propose to Dick. it was a lovely and peaceful morning, until Wally along with the other speedsters were called to a mission related to the Force. Wally promised that he would be back and that they would finish celebrating their anniversary. Dick was always hopeful. i mean Jason came back. Bruce came back. Wally always came back.

except for that day.

yes, Wally did come back. after several tries. after several research and studies. after several hopes. after several months. after several breakdowns and tears.

but Wallly has memory loss. he doesn't remeber his life before. he is stuck in this bittersweet loop of his and Dick's anniversary, but has that painful feeling that he is going to disappear.

everyone helps Wally in regaining his memories back. J'onn helps by digging in his consciousness while Zatanna helps through magic, playing scenes that happened throughout his life. and Dick helps through story telling and comfort and love. he tells stories about how they both met, their many memorable missions with the Teen Titans, when Dick became Nightwing because Wally was one of the first people who knew, how they confessed their love for each other, their dates and travels, their recent missions as Titans and when they started becoming official and living together.

once they figured out that he would forget every time he sleeps, Dick decides to capture their present moments through camera and makes them into tapes. when Wally wakes up, he sees the tapes by the bedside table and plays it so he can catch up with his present life.

Wally eventually gets better as each day passes. he still watches those tapes with Dick and they cry about it.

One of the actual highlights of that continuity. :)

You have to understand, there had not been any kind of significant DickKory content for ages. And then all of a sudden she's name-dropped in Batman vs. Robin, and a contact on his phone, and calling him to try and... *ahem*... get something started.

And then in Batman: Bad Blood we actually get to hear her voice and watch them openly flirt with each other.

And then in Justice League vs. Teen Titans they're skyping and co-parenting and clearly adorable.

You get the picture. Things just kept getting more and more blatant until the gloriousness of Teen Titans: Judas Contract. (Frankly the rest of the movie is mid at best, the DickKory parts are the only scenes worth watching.)

I have zero complaints. They were portrayed pretty much perfectly. Comfortably intimate, mutual care and concern for each other, openly discussed their problems and feelings... It was just a delight.

Yeah, I did suspect that Gunn might latch on to the Outlaws era of Red Hood. Based on Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad, and Peacemaker—he loves the premise of a ragtag bunch of outsiders coming together.

Gunn also loves gratuitous, lecherous shots of women in skimpy outfits—which is not the same as the macho or comedic states of undress of his male characters.

And it could very well have been sabotage by the shared Marvel Cinematic Universe—but it was a crime that Gamora and Nebula and their complex sibling relationship didn't get enough spotlight, which was wasted too much on Star-Lord, the raccoon, and a goofy Adam Warlock.

While I liked GotG overall, Gamora and Nebula were the best part, and they deserved more than being just one side plot among other side plots, almost lost in the shuffle around less impressive male protagonists.

So I definitely foresaw Lobdell's Outlaws appealing to James Gunn, but it still fills me with dread that a big-budget screen adaptation could turn Lobdell's Red Hood into the dominant image of Red Hood.

I like Red Hood being used sparingly as a viewpoint character—in terms of screen time and role, he'd be treated more like Gamora and Nebula were, than Star-Lord or Rocket Raccoon. There are stories that should be told from his perspective, but I think it's easiest and most effective for most stories to keep Jason's thoughts and feelings as something interpreted by various characters.

Anyway. Prayer circle that if Jason does show up in DC Studios, it's not related to the Outlaws. And if Batman is late in his career, then Barbara gets to be Oracle—a competent, attractive 30-something disabled woman. And there isn't a ridiculous 4:1 Robins:Batgirl ratio.
