“We, uh,” said Paul as he cleared his throat, “We met this… guy.”
Sam blinked.
“This guy?” asked Sam, confused.
“He was – oh wow. He. We got along really well,” said Paul, a twinkle in his eyes as he glanced at Darlene – and.
This felt a little too intimate for Sam to be hearing about his own parents.
“We sort of got a long after that for, I don’t know, about a year,” said Darlene, tucking one of her twists behind her ear as she decidedly didn’t look Sam in the eyes, “And – it’s going to sound fantastical but you, um – ”
“You’re still our son. Biological son, you’re our – we’re both still your – I’m not really sure how it worked, but – ” Paul continued, trying to find the words to tell Sam whatever went on.
“You sort of. Just,” said Darlene, mimicking what happened with her hands, “Appeared. From his. Forehead?”
Joaquín choked on his Arnold Palmer.
Riley’s eyes widened, not expecting that.
Sam.
Sam needed a minute.
“I was… a forehead baby?” asked Sam, supremely confused.

Cringe is dead but I'm not so here are the godly parents I think the Avengers (and a few others) would have if they were Riordanverse demigods.
Tony - Dionysus
Most people would go straight for Hephaestus when assigning Tony a godly parent, and that's not wrong, but I think Dionysus is a better fit. Tony is an alcoholic. We see that all the time. He has been since he was young. He also engages in all sort or merrymaking and revelry and is also quite dramatic - all of which are Dionysus's specialties. He also has a similar personality to Mr. D in the earlier movies, in my opinion. I think the most accurate thing to call Tony would be a son of Dionysus and a legacy of Hephaestus, with Howard being a child of Hephaestus.
Steve - Nemesis
At first, I thought Athena would be the best choice for Steve as she's a goddess of war strategy...but let's be honest, Steve is not a paragon of wisdom or reason. He shucks those traits relatively often. I think Nemesis, the goddesses of balance and retribution, is a much better fit. Steve's whole shtick is retribution; he hurts people after they've hurt someone else.
Thor - N/A (for obvious reasons)
Bruce - Janus
Might be slightly fucked to put Janus as Bruce's parent tbh but it's kind of the only god that fits him. I could have gone Ares because of the whole "I'm always angry thing," but I just don't vibe with it. Janus, as the god of transitions and the in-between, works way better and incorporates the hulk aspect of Bruce better.
Natasha - Psyche
Natasha was actually really hard to pick for, but I think Psyche, the god of the human soul, works best for Natasha. Natasha has a very intimate understanding of humanity and what makes people tick - as a super spy, she kind of has to. Psyche being her godly parent would add to this insight.
Sam - Athena
Sam is always shown to be somewhat calculating. Unlike other members of the team, he has no superpowers or enhancements to back him up; he barely even has body protection at first. Because of this, he relies on his wit. He's clever, wise, reasonable, and a good strategist which all fall under the Athena umbrella.
Bucky - Aphrodite
This is actually the idea that prompted this post; I've been toying with the idea of writing a crossover fic with Bucky as a child of Aphrodite for a while. Aphrodite is the goddess of two things - love and war (though she's only a love goddess in the Riordanverse and people rarely recall she was a war goddess as well). Tell me that Bucky's entire life isn't defined by one of those two things. Like, pre-WWII, his life is determined by his love for Steve. He lives with him, takes care of him, and is his emotional support. He then goes to war for 70 or so years until it is love that brings him back out. He's so Aphrodite coded.
Scott - Hephaestus
Scott is defined by the things he can build and the complex physics he understands. It's how he makes his living, however shady at first, and it's how he becomes a superhero. An argument could be made for Hermes, but Scott never set out intending to be a thief; that's just where he ended up.
T'challa & Shuri - Bast, obviously
It's literally canon that Bast is the goddess (or one goddess of a pantheon) worshipped in Wakanda. She bestows the Black Panther with their powers. It's kind of a no-brainer.
Yelena - Hestia
Yelena always wanted a home, even one that wasn't real. She wanted a sister and a loving childhood. I just think it'd be fucked up and fun if her mother was literally the goddesses of home and family.
Carol - Ares
Carol is definitely the rage part of war. It's contained but definitely present. She's a powerhouse and she'd make him proud.

"Alex! I'm so glad you could make it for a second I thought you're not going to come. "Bucky Barnes said hugging a seventeen year old boy in black trousers, ACDC tshirt, green hair and black leather jacket.
"I'm sorry this is one of the great deadly soldiers that you were telling me about? That's a child!" Said Sam Wilson. Alex just chuckled.
"Nice to meet you too Samuel Wilson I believe you needed help so James called me" he said. He looks at him weird while the man next to him is studying Alex intently trying to read him. Alex smirked.
"I've done some research before coming Buck did you break a terrorist out of prison and now you need me to babysit him?" Alex grimaced. "You know I'm a busy man especially after the tunnel incident with Caligula and Commodus your lucky the preators are my friends and approved this I was supposed to be getting supplies right now"
"what kind of code are you speaking in? Caligula and Commodus the evil dead emperor's" Sam asked while Alex smiled. "They're definitely dead now let me tell you this: Norse gods aren't the only ones that are real so are Greek gods and they're not too good at keeping it in their pants. They have ton of half god half human children with superpowers" he said while turning around in Zemo's parking garage.
"anyway for your knowledge Samuel Wilson I was a widow before joining the legion. I don't age, shapeshift and have very enhanced stamina. Alexander Achilles Montanegro, son of Poseidon at your service unless you're Zemo I'm also a system" he said giving Zemo a death stare.
"how could you two even meet? And aren't widow's only women?" Alex looked at Sam at this stupid question.
"I'm a trans man as for how we met I was a widow and he was the Winter Soldier. We meet on a mission me for the Red room and he for Hydra. Then again in the battle with Gaia the earth goddess 5 years ago you haven't aged at all" he smiled
"you haven't either also you overextended my part all I did was shoot him"Bucky said. "Still shooting a earth giant? That takes balls"
"anyway I can tell you all about my part with him later right now we need to focus on the task in hand why do you need me?" Alex replied.
"we need your connections, ass kicking and tracking skills " Bucky said. "Amazing who is the target?". "Karli Morgenthau". "amazing but you'll have to give me more info".
"they're recreating supersoldier serum" Sam explained. "Oh I can see why but let's go with what you're planning for now I need more information for a plan "
"the plan is in Zemo's hands" Sam said obviously displeased with it.
"what's the plan?" Alex asked. Zemo was still drilling holes in his skull. But still said:
"the woman we're looking for, Shelby is our lead but we'll have to go to Madripoor" Alex flinched.
"I'll need an disguise for that me and my brother blew up something there" Zemo looked at him questioning but not asking.
"that'll not be a problem" Zemo said as they we're boarding a plane. Alex pailed.
"you know what guys I'll catch up you go without me" he said as he whistled and left.
When they made it to Madripoor (surprisingly without killing each other) Alex was already there dressed in his old widow suit as a around 29 year old woman with an emotionless face.
"my Baron" he (they?) Said bowing. "You ordered an armed protection" Zemo looked confused since he didn't recognize this woman Bucky whispered: "that's the Emerald Witch or Ash Alex's alter"he nodded, understanding and she got into the car.

Chapter 1
Hades scowled at Aphrodite from where he was sitting, “I respect your thoughts and compassion, Goddess of Love but your idea is pure folly. The Avengers have been through enough and it is not our place to overcomplicate their lives.”
Aphrodite dismissed Hades’ words with an elegant wave of her hand, “Competitions have been used in the past to great effect. Some of the Avengers are our champions. Why then should our champions not compete and show their strength to win the hand of (Name)? After all, I am submitting the name of my champion to this contest, Sam Wilson.”
“Because they are people with their own lives,” Athena stressed, “I agree with Lord Hades.”
Ares snorted from his throne as he picked some dirt from underneath his nails with one of his knives, “You’re just saying that because you don’t want to submit any of your champions. A wise move, sister.”
Athena gripped the arm rests of her throne, “It would not be fair of me to subject Otto Octavius to this competition as he is still grieving the loss of his wife, Rosie. Peter Parker is too young to be considered as a romantic partner for (Name) and he has his eye on someone else. So you see, brother, I am being wise, thoughtful and considerate. Qualities which you lack.”
“Our sister’s reasons make sense,” Hephaestus rumbled, “I too will not be submitting the names of my champions. Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, and (Name) are close friends but that’s as far as their feelings for each other will ever go. Not to mention that Tony is married and I have no intention of disrupting a marriage.”
Apollo was lounging comfortably on his throne but at Hephaestus’ words, he threw his head back and groaned, “You two are such buzzkills. I for one would like to see where this competition of Aphrodite’s leads. I’m submitting my champion to this competition, John Walker.”
Hermes winced, “Brother, your champion will not stand a chance. You would have been better off submitting Clint Barton as your champion even though he too is married. I will submit my champion, Scott Lang to this competition.”
“You’re submitting the name of a joke of a hero who is only good as a thief to the competition as your champion,” Ares guffawed, “good luck with that.”
Hestia sent her nephew a warning glare which caused him to stop laughing immediately and curl into his throne, “Pay no mind to him Hermes.” She said kindly, “Ares is simply jealous as I chose Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes to be my champions and he was interested in them. It’s nice to see two Olympians submitting a champion with integrity and honour. Though I regret that it will truly be a challenge as I am submitting both of my champion's names to this contest.”
Dionysus examined the floor of the room with an air of boredom, “In this, I agree with the Lord of the Underworld. Our champions have endured a lot of the past few years and should we push our champions into this contest, we will lose their respect. In my case, I would also lose the tentative alliance that I have made with the Egyptian Gods since Bast and I chose the same champion. I will not be submitting the name of my champion, T’Challa to this contest and don’t think that I didn’t notice that you only brought this idea to our attention when Zeus and Hera were conspicuously absent, Aphrodite.”
There was a flash of heat and flame in the middle of the room and everyone present, except for Hades recoiled. Slowly, the flames and the heat died down to reveal Thanatos.
“Why have you come here?” Poseidon demanded, gripping his trident tightly.
“I apologise for the abrupt intrusion,” Thanatos replied, “it has simply been so long since my sisters and I have submitted the name of one of our champions for a contest.”
“You can’t!” Apollo gasped, “It’s not fair! How did you find out about the contest anyway?”
Thanatos raised an eyebrow, “Oh? Can’t we? It was my understanding that an immortal could submit the name or names as the case may be of their champion. Last I checked, I am an immortal. My sisters are immortals and we share the same champion.” Nobody commented on the fact that Thanatos had not answered Apollo’s question.
Hades sat up straighter as the silence in the room became deafening. He couldn’t have planned this better himself. He caught Artemis’ eye and knew that she was interested in the name of Thanatos and the Keres’ champion as well. It was rare for the Lord of the Dead and his sisters to agree on a worthy champion, let alone choose the same champion.
Hades wondered if Artemis would warn her champion, Natasha Romanoff about what was happening so that she could keep an eye out especially seeing as from what he knew, you and Natasha were good friends. Hades also made a mental note to speak to Hecate about the competition as she didn’t come up to Olympus if she could avoid it and this competition would definitely affect her champion, Wanda Maximoff, as well.
Thanatos laced his fingers together in front of himself as he waited. The atmosphere in the room showed no signs of changing and Thanatos let out an impatient huff, “Seeing as there are no more objections regarding my eligibility nor that of my sisters when it comes to submitting the name of our champion to this contest, I therefore submit the name of our champion, John Wick.”
Hades looked around the throne room. He took in the furious looks on Apollo and Ares’ faces, the contemplative ones on Hestia, Athena, and Hephaestus’ faces and the gleeful one on Aphrodite’s face. Hades would deny it later but in that moment, he was worried for your safety especially since you weren’t the champion of a Greek God. Although he didn’t agree with Aphrodite’s competition, Hades knew he needed to act now.
“I too will back John Wick as a champion in this contest,” Hades declared.

“Me too.” She breathed and he looked up at her, her pulse already fluttering under his palm. She shifted above him, moving her legs to bring her hips into better alignment with his. Mac kissed him as her weight settled onto him, making him groan into her mouth, tugging on the base of her braid again. His hands were slow, making a meal out of getting her free from her cardigan and tracing the shape of her body under her shirt. She broke away from his mouth with a gasp when he tweaked her nipples, making her back arch. Logan used the opportunity to tug her shirt over her head, throwing it without looking. She looked down at his intense face, his palms cupping her breasts, her bra tugged low. His eyes were locked on her dusky pink nipples, inches from his face. She watched as his eyes fluttered closed and his mouth wrapped around one tightened bud, her palm instantly cupping the back of his head to keep him close. He groaned against her skin, the sound and vibration making her nerve endings sing. He leaned back, releasing her hard nipple with a pop and undid her bra, tugging the useless fabric from her body and throwing it in the same vague direction as the rest of her clothes. She bit her lip as his eyes stayed locked on her tits and tugged on his hair hard enough to finally break his concentration, the pale ring of blue nearly obliterated by the dilated black of his pupils.
