#personal#I know I’ve been irritatingly vague about things for a good while but in all honesty I haven’t had the energy to really get into why life#got worse#pretty much over the weekend I recieved notice that I got summoned for jury duty#and as someone with EXTREME anxiety both in general and social this news did not find me well AT ALL.#I actually had an immediate breakdown as soon as my dad told me#and I’m actually still kind of pissed at him bc the way he told me kind of sounded like it was a good thing? like something I’d be excited#to do.#but anyways I’ve spent this week trying to get out of it and idek if they’re going to accept my excuse and that REALLY frightens me#this is also VERY bad bc I’d have to be at the place at 8am and typically I don’t actually go to sleep for the night until 7 these days… its#a long complicated and stupid story but yeah#I have that plus other anxieties and fears and stressors going on and while I’m practically the most overwhelmed I think I’ve been in a#while I also feel so stupid and pathetic for feeling this way bc for everyone that I’ve talked to they’ve all basically blown it off and#told me that it’s really not as big of a deal as I’ve been making it out to be#then again they don’t know about *the whole story* (no one does pretty much*#but I just like. I don’t understand I mean I know that the way that my existence came to be might say otherwise but I genuinely just don’t#get how I’m here and why it’s assumed that I could handle life#I feel like I’m just sinking and I have NOTHING left to give#I feel so weak and small to the point where I’m invisible#I just feel like sleeping all the time and avoiding EVERYTHING#the rut just keeps getting worse and worse and I’m just so fucking STUCK!!!!!#like will I actually ever get out of this and find my way through this? I really don’t know and that’s what scares me the most.#anyways I’m so sorry for being so annoying on here for all of the reblogs and stupid tags#I really just need to get better.#also I’m sorry for the awful writing my brain is a mess and it’s also hard for me w tags bc I can’t go back and proof read

Hey, I saw that your requests are open so I wanted to ask how Maxie, Archie, Cyrus and maybe some other characters of your choice would be like as dads, if you want to write about that ^^;
anon don't let me make more pokemen dilfs.
uhhh took this as a /reader thing since that's how my blog is.
cw: afab reader, light mentions of pregnancy and birth, mostly focused on villains being dads, mentions of termination for a second in cyrus's part,
characters: Maxie, Archie, Cyrus, Volo
☀️Maxie🌋
🪨 When you first told the Magma Leader the news, he had nearly fainted. He was certain he had been careful, but his mind instantly drew a few times such a thing could have occurred. Maxie actually needs to be supported by how limp his limbs go. Truly, he did not know how to handle the idea he was going to be a father. For some reason, his brain recalled the child who had opposed his team as he debated his next move. Being a dad did not sound awful to him. He just was completely unsure as to what to do.
🪨 Somehow, he managed to get over his immediate hesitations and considered the positives. The redhead was not getting any younger, after all. He had felt a strange uncle-like care for the child who had stopped him. It was not so bad having a child to look out for, he thought. Plus, he had beaten Archie in something again. He soon found himself pouring countless hours into guides and information related to parenthood and fatherhood. Being well-informed was the first step he felt.
🪨 He had his ups and downs throughout the pregnancy before finally having a full-on breakdown during labour. His practised stern expression gone with his sanity. They had to give him a bag for his frantic breathing, and he had to be removed from the room. He would later apologise for his behaviour, but it was all too surreal for him. But, in the end, he stares in wonder at the newborn. The small boy's weight in his arms was so light, yet so heavy. Tufts of red hair decorated his head as Maxie took in another shaky breath.
🪨 It was a struggle actually adjusting to parenthood. Reading was one thing, a screaming baby at one in the morning was another. Still, he powered through it all. There was something enchanting to watch as the baby grew more and more aware. His son seemed to grow an affinity for grabbing at his hair or trying to take his glasses while making interesting coos and gurgles at him. He was not sure just what kind of person they would grow into, but he was determined to help try to raise them into a person who would be mindful of the environment and kind.
🪨 As they grew, Maxie found himself seeing too much of himself in his son. They could be just as stubborn and unyielding as he was, while being oddly fascinated with geology as he was. He even had to stop his son from eating dirt at one point, which stirred unfortunate youthful memories out of the Magma Leader. Despite how they would butt heads, Maxie felt strangely in tune with him. He loved letting his son read his reports and explaining the different meanings held within.
🪨 He felt especially cocky when he introduced Archie to his boy, smirking at how the pirate seemingly was lost as to how the redhead actually reproduced. Before he could rub his life achievement in his face, Archie knelt down and ruffled the boy's head with a friendly grin. He bit his tongue. The Aqua Leader congratulated his counterpart genuinely and told the boy to keep an eye out for his old man. All Maxie could do was grumble in return.
🪨 He tries to be fair, but he knows boundaries are important and healthy for children. The effects of being too permissive with children often led to the creation of troublesome people, after all. Though he does not want his son to feel rejected and like Maxie does not care for him, he makes sure to have actual discussions with his son about why and how with things. He does feel like his child has a good understanding of these things in the end but feels like he accidentally imposed many of his mannerisms onto his son.
🪨 Team Magma ends up talking about the so-named mini Maxie frequently. The obvious resemblance between their leader and his son is just so fascinating. Even Courtney wishes to coo over an almost perfect clone of her leader. Tabitha just nervously laughs whenever the boy follows his dad in to watch the Magma scientists work. He is very well accepted, no matter his age. Grunts even nervously act as properly as they do when their leader strolls in.
🪨 Overall, Maxie ends up as a slightly overbearing parent who tries to understand his kid and have them understand him back. He goes from being nervous about parenthood to being deeply grateful for the change. His son brought an odd new purpose into his life after everything that had happened with Groudon. He truly enjoys every moment spent with his family.
🌧Archie🌊
💧 When you told Archie about the news, he scooped you up like you weighed nothing and spun you around excitedly. The Aqua Leader had been feeling like something was missing from his life, and he feels like you just answered it. There is no hesitation or doubt from the man — No, this must be his destiny. The little scamp that had been his odd rival while he tried to awaken Kyogre made him realise how nice being a dad could be. He instantly begins to ramble off assorted ideas and plans while you can only stare at him.
💧 Honestly, he probably had been unconsciously trying for a child. Archie thought back on his own youth with both happy and confused feelings. Having a kid could be really difficult, he realised. Shelly came in to save him by gifting him a bunch of parenting books and reminding him that it was a genuinely serious change in his life. He suddenly felt more grounded, for lack of a better word, in his thoughts. Plus, he had beaten Maxie in something! Not that he really thought his rival wanted a kid, though.
💧 He does simply everything for you during your pregnancy. Archie proves just how dedicated he can be to a goal with his attentiveness to you. Even during the birth, he stood at your side with a bright grin and endless support. Though, internally, he would admit he was panicking just a bit. This was still a dangerous process, even if he treated the doctors and whatever else. Though, when everything calmed down and a small infant was laid in your arms, his heart just felt full. A little girl was now the newest and most important member of his crew.
💧 His adjustment to life with a baby is something amazing. It seemed he really took all the advice in those books to heart, as he just accepted his sleep schedule was going to be ruined until the poor girl found a schedule. Archie did not mind, simply happy to see more and more of the little thing. He even found a good nickname for her when she held a small death grip on his beard. His little Clamperl. She was quite fond of laughing and giggling, too, which made his heart feel even warmer. However, sadly, everyone around him stuck down him wanting to try infant swimming classes.
💧 As she grew, Archie was a bit amazed about how she seemed to be just like him. A strong affinity for water and loving to just be around people. Both of them could just spend all day on the beach and in the water playing around, making Archie think back to his own youth. He had loved the ocean then as much as he loved it now and is glad to pass his love on to his daughter. The Aqua Leader adored teaching her all about marine life and the many creatures that lurked in the waiting waves. She seemed to absorb the information like a sponge.
💧 He felt smug when Maxie saw him and his daughter in Slateport. The redhead stood stunned at the little girl holding his rival's hand tightly. The Magma Leader approached with careful steps. The girl just beamed up at him. Maxie actually smiled back at her. He shot a glance at Archie. He carefully listened to the little girl excitedly telling him about the Chinchou she saw. The Aqua Leader's feelings changed. Maxie almost seemed proud of him. Before Maxie departed, he congratulated Archie and told the girl to keep her dad in line. She just grinned up at him.
💧 He is a bit too lenient with his daughter, he knows. The girl simply deserves everything he feels, and he struggles to tell her no. Of course, he does know the importance of setting up boundaries for kids so they do not get all out of control. Though, he absolutely struggles with punishments, sadly. His softness, thankfully, is not taken advantage of because his daughter is just as oddly good-natured as he is.
💧 His team is just eager to have his daughter around. She loves playing around with the grunts, even when it ends with her horribly beating them in a pokemon battle. Everyone just sees her like another Archie, almost. She is just less likely to give out orders. Shelly simply adores the girl and loves dressing her up or just hanging out with her while Archie is too busy to be with her. Matt, on the other hand, is overly protective over her. The poor guy is terrified that his bro's daughter is in danger because of how small she is. Granted, she is very safe because the entirety of Team Aqua would hunt whoever hurt her down.
💧 In the end, he is quite excited to be a father and eager to do everything he possibly can for his child. He struggles a bit when it comes to pushing back on her and is probably too permissive for it to be good, but his example of bring redeeming himself from his past actions and genuinely caring for pokemon and the sea sets a good example for her. She quickly adopts many of his interests in protecting the environment, and he feels certain that his change of heart after Kyogre was all for good with that.
🌌Cyrus🛰
☄️ When you told Cyrus of the news, he froze. His entire world seemingly paused, and the only thing he could hear was the sound of his heart racing. Father… Him? No, he could not. What a terrifying thought. His own childhood creeping up his back as he debated how to most kindly ask for a possible termination. Your immediate refusal shook him even more. Losing you was not something that he believed he could bear in this world, so sickeningly consumed by spirit. Could you not just wait for his perfect world to start a family?
☄️ He relents after his initial panic. Your joy is apparent with how you speak to the unborn child and loving place a hand over where they should be. Was twenty-seven an appropriate age to start a family? He supposed there was little time to consider. Immediately, he found himself drowning in guides upon guides upon books and informational videos until he felt somewhat confident in what being a parent entailed. He absolutely dreaded every coming minute of it, but he refused to make that apparent to his future child. Cyrus would not dare even imitate his parents.
☄️ Amazingly, he managed to stay by your side during the stages of labour. While he almost constantly wanted to leave the room, horrified but what he could only blame on spirit, he remained and forced his feelings down to support you and advocate when you were unable to. You seemed grateful for his unfaltering support in the end, smiling as you held the infant girl in your arms. Cyrus felt amazed by her very existence. Soft blue tufts were on her head, while her face seemed frozen in a familiar expression. You called her a mini Cyrus. He could only feel awestruck.
☄️ He struggled immensely in the shift after bringing her home. Thankfully, it was less due to the constant awakenings (as his insomnia made that easy enough to deal with) but more so how she simply existed in his space. Her cries broke his heart, making him fear he was already falling into the ways of his parents. Yet, he found that she was straightforward to comfort, simply craving to be held and softly spoken to. Her eyes, the same colour as his, adoringly stared up at him, and he suddenly felt warm inside.
☄️ Her growing up was both a relief and torment to him. She proved herself just as reclusive as he could be and not interested in any other kids for the most part. Cyrus felt strange seeing his daughter hidden in her room and burying herself in whatever hobby she had decided to indulge in. It was like staring into a mirror that reflected one's younger days. He found himself being someone she could talk to about her hobbies, happy to listen at any time. Cyrus felt even more stunned whenever she followed him to his office and watched how he worked on his machines. It slowly turned into him explaining everything to her and her wishing to help him.
☄️ He flinched at how Cynthia caught him out at the Veilstone department store with his daughter one day. The champion stared in silence at them for a moment before falling into her unusual polite grin and waving at the small girl. Cyrus knew that the blonde would not do anything to her yet still felt strangely nervous about how she had gazed at him specifically. The babbled quietly to Cynthia about her interests, and she could only smile more at the girl. When the woman finally left, her final glance back at him spoke too many words. “You accepted this world, didn't you?” Had he? Cyrus forced those thoughts away.
☄️ He, truthfully, is quite soft as a parent. What he has been through has made him terrified of ever inflicting such pain onto a child. Cyrus is much too weak when it comes to his daughter and folds into himself for what she asks for. He strangely finds her already perfect. In fact, he dared to even say her spirit was somehow complete. He does make sure she understands social norms and boundaries, still, but she seems to come to understand on her own all the same. The only downside is that he struggles to be affectionate with her, only allowing himself the rare hug and mostly relying on petting her head.
☄️ Team Galactic is oddly obsessed with their boss's mysterious child. How she just showed up one day after Cyrus took an unexpected few weeks off. They all found themselves engaged in watching how she mimicked her father unknowingly. Mars and Jupiter love playing with the little girl, seeing a need for a more feminine touch in her life and finding her fun to dress up. While Saturn seemingly finds himself on babysitting duty whenever Cyrus gets busy. He secretly enjoys these moments and shows her games on his computer. The grunts are constantly getting jumpscared by her accidental glare.
☄️ Overall, he struggles quite a bit with his own childhood, but desperately does not want his beloved child to ever go through what he had. Cyrus leans probably strict in some ways, yet extremely permissive and passive in other ways. At first, the idea of parenthood nearly makes him ill, but he somehow moves past it into deeply enjoying the connection he has with his daughter. While he still has not accepted this painfully incomplete world, he feels his daughter is leading him to another possible answer to his inquiries and wishes to see what she thinks when she is at an age to understand. Perhaps he would even dare let her make the new world herself.
💫Volo📜
⭐️ When you told him the news, he sincerely debated fleeing and hiding again. Being a parent was a terrifying concept to him. He simply was not someone who had much interest in establishing a family line. After all, he had made very obvious his intentions to continue pursuing Hisui's myths to one day finish his goals. While he may have relented to whatever kind of relationship this was, he was not sure a child was something he needed. Then you mentioned that his child would come from one chosen by Arceus, and he suddenly gave in.
⭐️ He supposes that a child from both his blood of the ancient Sinnoh people and yours from that of one chosen by Arceus sounded too good. Besides, he had begun to wonder what should happen if he failed in his endeavours. A descendant could carry on where he left off, even possibly creating the world he so desired and bringing him back should he die. His acceptance is quiet and subtle. He finds himself listening to men and women about their experiences of being parents as he wanders around Hisui. Bravely, he even questions Cogita about what is entailed, intriguing her.
⭐️ He could not be at your side for any process of the delivery since he was very much wanted for his crimes in Jubilife, but he was somewhat doting during the pregnancy. He attempted to get whatever you requested, though he felt like he was going a bit mad when you sent him out hunting for seemingly endless leeks out in the wilds. Volo was mostly following Cogita's instructions here. It was about a week after the birth when you finally managed to sneak out of the village with the infant for him to finally greet the child. He could only stare at the sleeping face of his daughter in mild bewilderment. Soft golden tufts were across her head as she nuzzled into his warmth. His heart felt oddly heavy.
⭐️ When you finally escaped back to his home, he felt distressed by how needy the child was. Crying nearly relentlessly and needing attention more than he expected, yet before he could complain, he realised how he felt about those thoughts. Quickly, he shut them down and took to intently caring for the child. How could he have even thought such a thing about his child? He felt ill. Her confused coos and giggles at lease forced the pain out of his heart. She always seemed so entranced with his hair and desperately tried to grab it. Her grey eyes held pure adoration as she turned her head to find him whenever he was not holding her.
⭐️ As she grew, he became worried. His own youth was extremely difficult and lonely. The only person he felt he could turn to was rarely around, so he always found himself alone and ruminating on his complicated feelings. It all seemed pointless with how easily she spoke with other people. A bit like him, he supposed. Her intrigue with his investigations of ruins and myths drew her in, too. The girl listening to her father go on and on about history and stories of myths. Volo felt oddly eager. It seemed his legacy would inherit his interests. She began joining him to look over ruins and learn the culture of the ancient Sinnoh people.
⭐️ Cogita seemed smitten with his daughter, he had noticed. The older woman had often been there for him in his youth, and now it appeared her intentions remained the same for the girl. If his partner was busy while he was, too, he found her more than willing to babysit. She shared just as many myths to the girl as he had. The girl seemed utterly fascinated with everything, just as he had been. Though, he could feel the slight glare Cogita would give him when he listened in. It seemed she was more than aware of his darker plans.
⭐️ Volo is not really sure how to parent. He tries to be supportive towards his daughter, but struggles to understand if what he is doing is right or wrong. His parents were not exactly around him enough to help him even now by an example. He almost ends up treating her like a pokemon. Firm boundaries and obvious things you do and do not do. She has many moments of frustration towards the blond, which he entirely understands. Though, he does find himself overly protective of her. He feels she is in danger as the hero of Hisui's child alongside being his own, not mentioning the general danger of Hisui alone.
⭐️ From what he hears, the Galaxy Team simply adores her. Laventon cannot stop himself from going on and on about pokemon behaviours to the girl, and even bravely offering her another one of the pokemon he brought from his home region. Cyllene seems to fret over her wellbeing whenever you take her out of the village to his home, claiming she is too young to explore the harsh wilderness even while being monitored. Even Kamado has a strange soft spot for the kid, probably trying to make up for what he did to you. Volo can only sigh at all that.
⭐️ Ultimately, he has many shortcomings as a parent. It is a difficult change for him, but he forces himself to be at least more supportive and caring than his own parents were towards him. He honestly can be a little too harsh with his words, but somehow, his daughter seems to get he is trying his best. Her love for history and mythology makes him feel confident she will pick up where he left off should anything ever happen to him. After all, he plans to take her to the Temple of Sinnoh and explain to her his ultimate goals. She is already being trained in battling as a wielder by him. But, somehow, he wonders if she really will. The look in her eyes is much like his own yet different.

kiss me ! part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jake was definitely head over heals for your cold personality, and he wasn't going to let anyone take you. but heres the problem: he couldn't find a single way to keep a conversation with you. despite your scary demeanour, jake decides to man up and does everything out of his will to get you.
fluff, jake x reader, (not proofread)
Tumblr media
jake was frustrated to know that many guys have been after you the second you stepped in that classroom doing the bare minimum.
hearing ‘wanna grab lunch with me?’ here and there somehow always made him ball his fist to prevent himself from being a problem. yet again he couldn’t blame other people for wanting to ask you out either. he even sometimes wished that you had rejected him so he could move on. although of course he didn’t really mean that.
because now he was wandering around the school looking for you while he was on a “bathroom break” during his soccer practice. he knew you always liked to stay at the school rooftops admiring the view while listening to music. not like he was stalking you or anything...
you turn your head to look at the person at the door "you again? when are you going to leave me alone? pervert" you scoff, kicking the little pieces of rocks as you avoid jakes eyes. it was almost the millionth time you've seen jake this day, and it was always for the same reason, to piss you off, well more like ask you out --which still pisses you off.
you weren't one to believe in love, or maybe just not yet. because you weren't even sure if you were capable enough to love someone. even the thought of having to be so sweet and touchy with each other grossed you out, and of all people, jake especially knew that. so why was he so determined to get you to fall in love with him?
you weren't one to believe in love, or maybe just not yet. because you weren't even sure if you were capable enough to love someone. even the thought of having to be so sweet and touchy with each other grossed you out, and of all people, jake especially knew that. so why was he so determined to get you to fall in love with him?
"hmmm maybe never?" jake chuckles at the sight of you rolling your eyes "then i'll move schools --countries if that's what takes for you to leave me alone" as you turn around and face him, eyes widened at the thin space between the both of you "and maybe i'll find you"
you raise your eyebrows "well that's borderline criminal act" you wander off "now sim jaeyun i think it's best for you to leave before you add up to my anger --i mean you already are. but wouldn't that be horrible?" jake's eyes follow you as you drag your feet "not really" he states "you're hot when you're mad"
you scoff out of disbelief, hitting him hard on his arm, looking away almost immediately as you trying to hide your heated face "shut up before i'll push you off this building" letting go of the grip you once had on his collar, "alright, alright sorry ma'am. but if you're really mad for whatever reason, come with me. i'll take you to a place" he suggests, offering his hand for you to take "you should be happy. i normally wouldn't even consider letting anyone know about my spot" he shoots you a grin
you take time trying to consider his offer, but as much as you don't want to stroke his ego about convincing you to go with him, you really needed something to release your anger "as long as you shut up about this" you give him a side glance "no promises" he sends a wink your way "ugh, fine"
he gently takes your hand as he drags you out of the school "can you jump over the wall?" jake looks at your flustered face "....no..?" you answer, making a line with your lips, causing him to let out a small chuckle "okay cutie, i'll help you up" you cringe at the nickname "call me that again and i'll break your neck" you step on his knee as he tries to boost you up "yeah that's right, keep going"
but as jake looks up he couldn't help but feel flustered, looking away "i made it!" you pant, hands resting on your knees as you wait for jake to come up as well. but after a few seconds of not hearing him, you call out his name, peaking your head over the wall "jake? i swear to god if you leave me out here i'm killing you"
"n-no i didn't leave you" he stutters, trying to collect himself from being a flustered mess "then come up here! the sun is setting, you wouldn't want to miss it"
"y-yeah it's just that i uh, i saw.....your....you know?" he explains, his hands not knowing what to do "you saw my what!?" you shrieked "no no it's okay i looked away!" he reassures you "ugh, just- just come up here!" you yell, already walking ahead as you try to cool down your heating face "so pink aye?" jake jokes, catching up to you
"SIM JAEYUN!" you yell, kicking him on his ass "ow! okay sorry!"
jake was resting his head on his hands, watching as you play with the small puddle while watching the sunset, not even an hour in, jake panics as he sees the amount of missed calls from riki "oh shit! my soccer practice!"
--
the following days after that, almost everything remained the same, jake continuously teasing and flirting with you, you getting in trouble for the littlest things, never coming home until the latest of the hour. but yet again, almost everything remained the same
you were now in denial of your feelings towards sim jaeyun. it would hurt too much of your pride to actually admit it, because after all, you've always told sim jaeyun you hated him.
you groan "jake, there's a reason why i'm failing english, okay? just accept the fact that i'm the worst" you bury your head on the pages of your book, seated across jake at the back of the library "i didn't even ask for you to help me! i simply just asked for your notes that just happened to have a first grader's hand writing" he scoffs, a little taken back by your sudden insult on his hand writing "thanks? i know you didn't ask for help, i just wanted to do this with you so that you don't get detention for not knowing proper english" he explains, handing you another sheet of paper with an 54 circled on the right corner "seriously y/n? 54? come on, one last set of questions and i'll take you to the new cafe just across the street"
and almost immediately, you bring your head up, grabbing the pen and taking the set of questions. making jake giggle "y/n, just say that you like me, you know i'm not going to reject you-- ow!" you smack him on the head with the pencil "that's absolute nonsense!" you whisper with a harsh voice, digging your face on the note book as you try to cover the little smile you had on your face
i think it was safe to say you got 4 out of 10 right, causing you to almost have a mental breakdown at the library "i can't do this sim" you groan "i think you just need a break yeah? wanna head to the cafe?" jake stands up to pack your stuff, giggling at the sight of your head still buried in between the pages of the book "c'mon y/n" he kneels beside you "get up, let's go to that cafe"
you've never felt your pride hurt as much as this did, having to show jake how bad your were at english, him having to tutor you without you asking for help, and jake bringing you to the cafe even though you weren't even remotely close to getting at least 6 right
and you weren't exaggerating when when you say jake had to drag you all the way to the cafe "hi! what can i get for you today sir?" the girl says, the obvious heart eyes she has for him pissing you off even more "hi yeah i'd like to have a caramel machiatto" he responds politely, smiling at the obvious glare you held at the girl, poking out your tongue after she was called by the manager, an old lady replaces her "anything else for your girlfriend--" before you could correct her, jake immediately speaks up "she'll have (drink)"
he smiles at the old lady before paying "i'm sending you money later whether you like it or not" you roll your eyes "and i'll send it back" he holds your waist as he leads you to a table, causing your heart to beat 10 times faster "yeah? well i'll send it back to you again! i'll keep doing it until you die!" he scoffs at you "as if!"
--
even after multiple attempts of trying to make jake ask you out, the boy who you thought was so smart couldn't take a single hint at all.
but in jake's defence, you were a little bad, considering how bad you were with boys, he vividly remembers that one time when you were trying so hard to make him jealous by talking to other guys. he even laughed as you struggled to keep up with a conversation.
or that other time when you tried to hold his hand just to do something romantic just for once but ended up letting go because he wouldn't stop teasing you about it. he still took your hand, yet he never asked you out still.
"you okay darling?" your mother asks, taking a quick glance at your droopy form leaning on the counter as you wait for her to finish cooking "is it a boy?" she teases, making you perk your head up "i knew it!" she gives you an endearing smile as she gives you a plate with eggs on it, a heart shaped ketchup placed on the top of the egg "mom!" you whine
"okay fine, it is a boy. but don't tell dad" you whisper, smiling once she zips her lips "what's his name?" she asked, tilting her head as she leans on the counter in front of you "jake"
"jake?! i love jake! you should invite him over sometime" she squeals "he's a nice guy, i'm sure he wouldn't hurt you, so what's bothering you?" you sigh, taking a sip of the water "he likes me, it's like the whole world knows. but he just keeps on flirting with me and never actually tries to ask me out" you pout, aggressively taking a bit of the scrambled eggs, making your mother chuckle "oh baby, i'm sure it'll happen soon. just give him some time! unless if you're that impatient, then maybe you should try considering to be the one who makes the first move" she walks away, heading upstairs
no, as much as you hate it, that would hurt too much of your pride. so you decided to wait.
--
summer just had started and you couldn't even explain how much you hated the heat. staying under the shade 70% of the time whenever you went out with jake and his friends "guys! i have an announcement" jay yells, you were currently over at jay's house, just having a little party with just the 8 of you "my father booked us a trip to hawaii"
"WHAT?!"

Night Terrors
Tom Hiddleston x reader.
Tumblr media
Not my gif! Credits to the owner!
Summary: you have a movie night at RDJ’s house with the entire marvel cast and it turns out in a sleepover. You and Tom were very close from the beginning. Everyone knew you found yourself in a hard time and they were always there for you. But when you all fell asleep you were cruelly awakened by a nasty nightmare. Tom tries his best to comfort you.
Warnings: Angst, ptsd (in my experience because everyone experience ptsd differently.), night terrors, passing of a loved one. Age-gap but definitely legal! Reader is about 24. Nudity but not sexual and a lot of comfort

 It was a Saturday night and RDJ invited the whole marvel cast for a nice bbq and a movie night over his house. You were an beginning actress as well and this was your first big role. You did on the other hand directed a lot of small films which gave you an identity on it’s own. People loved the movies that you wrote and directed and loved to see you play in one. You were actually interested in acting as well so you took the opportunity with both hands when Marvel asked you to play in a movie.
You met Tom, Benedict and Sebastian already. They all acted separately in your movies. But the closest connection you had with Tom. You actually developed a huge crush on the British actor but you thought he saw you as a little sister. Not only that but you started working together as well.
Tom would pick you up to go to RDJ’s house together. You heard your doorbell go off and opened the door seeing a smiling Tom. “Hey Tom!” you said excited and he pulled you in a big hug. “Hello love, how are you doing?” he asked you. “I’m trying.” You told him and he gave you a weak smile. “I actually called my godmother today…” you told him. “really? How did it go?” he asked you. “We talked for about an hour and a half. It was very hard. I was becoming emotional but I didn’t want to cry…. Still in my system I guess.” You told him while he listened intently. “I’m so proud of you. I bet it was hard. But you are making so much progress and you’re really trying. You’re so strong and such a strong woman.” He told you giving you a hug. You nuzzled into his sweater. “Thank you Tom.” You told him.
Everyone knew you had a difficult time with the passing of your godfather. You always saw him as your father since your biological dad was a shithead to say nicely. So when he passed it was a big shock for everyone. It was sudden and unexpected. It also triggered your ptsd. You were always very open about mental health but at this moment it was a very hard time for you. The whole cast was there for you but Tom was always there and could read you like an open book. Which scared you as well because you were afraid that he would know about your secret crush on him.
When it happened you were all alone and tried to stay strong for your family like he asked you and so you did. Then came the roll around which he knew about and you promised him you would take him to the premiere. So with the premiere around the corner you felt yourself crumbling down. besides that you never really had time to process everything and try to heal from what happened. So when you were having a big breakdown one day, they all found out what was happening. Tom spend a lot of time with you after that. More than he already had. He was determined to never let you be alone again in one difficult moment.
You got your stuff and your present for RDJ and hopped in the car with Tom. He obviously helping you as the gentleman that he is. You chatted for a while about funny things and you told him you were writing a new script for a movie. “maybe you can read it sometime if you want and let me know what you think?” you asked him carefully. Tom’s heart filled itself with love that you trusted him enough to let him read your new script. “I would love to!” he told you honestly and you smiled while looking at the road.
Once arrived RDJ opened the door and hugged you tightly. You walked into the big house and saw that a lot of the cast was already there and you hugged them all. “oh I brought you something!” you told RDJ. “oh you didn’t have to!” he told you while gripping the present and opening it with a big smile. “can’t come empty handed! They raised me differently” you told him giggling. “You see! You can all take a note from Y/N here!” he told the marvel cast who were laughing. You made him a painting. Ever since he saw how you painted he wanted one and wouldn’t shut up about it so you thought this was the perfect time. “it’s absolutely beautiful y/n” he told you mesmerized by the painting. He pulled you in a big hug. “we’ll find a nice place to hang it up together later.” He told you softly which made you smile.
You all took a seat and started to eat. You all had laughs and sat outside in the evening. His garden was beautiful. There were fairy lights to make it cozy and a fire was burning. You sat contently staring at the fire in silence. Tom noticed that you had gotten more silent and he laid his hand on top of yours, looking at you. You got out of the daze and looked at Tom, immediately meeting his blue eyes. He smiled sweetly at you and took your hand in his now. his thumb caressing the top of your hand. You felt your cheeks heat up. he wasn’t planning on letting your hand go anytime soon.
After an hour you all decided to go inside to watch a movie on his big tv screen. The cast started to bicker over what movie to watch while RDJ tapped you on your shoulder and hinted to walk with him. You walked in the hallway with him and he looked around. “what about that place?” he asked you while holding the painting. He nudged to the end of the hall where everyone could see it. “are you sure?” you giggled and he looked strict at you. “Look what you made! Of course I’m sure!” he told you dramatically which made you giggle. “Then it’s a beautiful place” you both hang the painting on the wall. RDJ took a selfie with you, him and the painting before returning to the group.
You sat next to Tom and Chris E. Tom smiled lovingly at you and softly placed his hand on your knee. There were mattresses laying on the floor where the other half of the cast laid down. RDJ had a very big couch so there was enough space for all of you. You snuggled against Tom who laid his arm around you pulling you closer. It didn’t take long before you grew very tired. The others felt the same, some left to go home like Paul Rudd, Mark R and Paul Bettany since they lived close by. a couple of others could stay in the guestrooms but you rather stay downstairs.
When everyone settled the TV still played some background noise. You were now laying with your back to Tom but turned around. Tom watched you intently, getting his arm a little of you so you could turn. You laid now face to face with Tom and he smiled softly once again at you and kissed the top of your head. Chris E softly petted your hair for relaxation. Tom held you close to him with his arms wrapped around you. You rested your head against his chest and fell into a deep sleep.
~time skip~
You were woken up abruptly by people shaking you awake. You shoot up sweating. Tears filling your eyes once you remembered the nightmare. You were breathing heavily and looked around erratically. Chris E shushed you while Tom held you tightly while rocking you back and forth. You were wet from all the sweating. “hey shs it was a nightmare. You’re okay now.” Chris E told you. Tom placed his lips on the top of your head while keeping a protected grip on you. “You were calling for your godfather.” Chris E told you. Anthony came back from the kitchen with a glass of water and gave it to you. You now saw how concerned they all looked. Seb rested his hand on your knee while his thumb rubbed drew circles. You thanked Anthony but you really didn’t liked all the attention you were getting right now. “sorry for waking you all up.” they chuckled slightly “Don’t worry about it, we’re here for you y/n” Seb said. You pushed the tears away and Tom noticed that you were keeping it all in again. “why don’t we go outside for a minute? I think some fresh air would do you good.” Tom asked you and you nodded.
You got up and whished them a goodnight sleep so they wouldn’t wait up. Tom got a blanket and walked behind you. once outside Tom placed you on a chair and you looked up at the stars feeling the tears slip. He took your hand in his. “what was the dream about?” he asked carefully. You told him about your dream while crying. You tried to let everything out. Once you were done Tom stood up without saying anything and stretched out his hand for you. You looked up questionable with puffy eyes. he gave you a warm smile and you took his hand. RDJ had a sort of bed outside. It was more for the pool but there was a mattress with curtains. You smiled at the thought of how good Tom knew you. You didn’t want to go inside anymore and he seemed to get that. Luckily it wasn’t very cold outside.
You sat down on the lounge bed. Tom pulled you a little back so you both sat against the headboard. “I never knew him, only from the stories you told me and I believe full heartedly that he is so unbelievable proud of you. Of the woman you became and becoming, everything that you did and overcame and still the things you are working on. We can all see that and we all have so much respect for you. You are a role model for a whole lot of people! It’s okay to feel these feelings but you need to keep talking about them.” You felt tears slipping. He wrapped the blanket around himself and then around you which made you scoot closer to him. “he’s watching over you. I’m sure and he’s looking over you with probably the biggest smile.” You both laid down and looked at the stars. “Thank you Tom. For being there for me every time.” He looked at you. “Of course love” you stared at the stars with teary eyes while Tom kept looking at you.
Once you calmed down you said: “Tom, you’re staring.” While keeping your gaze at the stars. He smiled. “you’re more beautiful to look at.” He bluntly told you. You never turned your head faster than in that moment. He just smiled softly at you while you screened his face. He laid his head closer to yours. “do you mean that?” you asked him softly while looking down shyly. “I never say something I don’t mean y/n” you stayed silent in disbelieve. “I eh really like you.” he told you with a blush creeping on his cheek. You looked deeply into his eyes. “I really like you too Tom.” He smiled and came closer until your lips connected. His hand rested on your cheek. He gave you the lead at the moment and you took that opportunity to deepen the kiss. He rolled partly on top of you while leaning on his elbow, his other hand now going to your waist and rubbed with his thumbs your side.
You both pulled back and heard Sebastian and Chris H and E scream “Finally!!!” before going back inside which made you both laugh in embarrassment. You laid down on his chest while Tom kissed the top of your head. “Do you maybe want to be my girlfriend?”  he asked carefully which made you chuckle at the way he asked you, like a teenager in love. “I would like that” you said while lifting your gaze to look up at him and gave him a big kiss on his lips which made Tom sigh through the kiss in containment.
~time skip~
You woke up from clicking. It sounded like someone was taking pictures. You squeezed your eyes shut tight because of the sun but saw Chris H taking pictures along side RDJ. “so we can show your kids once you get them.” RDJ said casually. You chuckled. Tom sighed getting out of his slumber his arm tightened around your middle scooting you closer. “Awa let’s give these lovebirds some time to wake up, we made you both some coffee.” Chris H told you while pointing towards the warm mugs. “Thank you.” You told them giggling a little. Once they left you turned around to face Tom. He still had his eyes closed and your fingers traveled along his facial features. “Good morning love” he told you still with his eyes closed but with a smile. “good morning handsome.” He opened his eyes and smiled lovingly at you while connecting your lips again. You cuddled into his side. “this is nice” you told him. “It really is. Now I don’t mind waking up” he told you which made you chuckle.
Once you both got up you all had breakfast together and decided it was a nice warm day to go swimming. Tom brought you home so you could pick up your stuff and off you went to the beach. You all laid down in the soft sand and chatted away and shared funny stories. You all decided to take a swim. Once in the boys started a water fight. Scarlett sat on the shoulders of Chris E and you were on the shoulder of Tom. You both tried to push each other off but both fell in the process. Now it was the turn of the boys. Sebastian on the shoulders of Chris E and Anthony on the shoulders of Chris H. It took a while but in the end Sebastian fell and Anthony cheered which made you giggle.
You started swimming a little with Tom by your side. You were on his back while he slowly swam back and forth. You got off of his back and put both of your legs around his waist and hugged him tightly. He grabbed your chin to give you a kiss. Once you both got a little tired of swimming you both got out and dried up.
After a nice day at the beach you were tired out. Especially because of the night before. Tom brought you home. “Tom…? Can you please stay with me tonight?” you asked him softly. “of course love, let me grab my stuff and I’ll be back in an hour” he told you and gave you a kiss before you got out of the car.
You in the meanwhile cleaned your house a little and made your bed and took a shower to get all the sand off of you. You were done just in time for Tom to come. You opened the door and you saw that he showered as well. then your sight fell on the bottle of wine he brought and a brown back. “I went to the store and got us some snacks.” You smiled and let him in. He put everything on your kitchen counter. You poured you both a generous amount of wine and plopped on the couch. You put on a movie for you both to watch. After you drank the wine and ate some snacks you became even more tired. “Let’s get you to bed.” Tom told you. He took your hand and turned off all the lights.
You both got ready for bed and got in. “Tom? Can you maybe read to me?” you asked him shyly but he knew his voice calmed you down and it wouldn’t be the first time that he would read for you. “of course sweetheart.” He started to read to you while you laid in his arms and you softly drifted off to fall asleep in yet another night terror.
You sat up suddenly, breathing heavy and once again sweating. Tom softly sat up next to you and rubbed your back. “I’m sorry.” You told him feeling guilty and out of breath. “It’s okay love really. Don’t worry about that I’m here for you” Once you regained a steady breathing he asked you “ Let’s take a shower okay?” you nodded and he took your hand and lead you to your own bathroom. “I’ll wait outside okay?” but the thought of being alone scared you a lot at this moment giving you an anxiety attack. “No Tom please stay.” You begged saying it a little too fast for your own liking. “I’m sorry if you feel comfortable with that.” You told him again and he gave you a soft smile.  You both stripped out of your clothes. “I can keep my underwear on if you’d like.” He told you not trying to make you feel uncomfortable in any situation. “No it’s fine, if you’re okay with it.” you told him and he nodded. He stripped out of his boxers and you out of your underwear.
You looked at each other but at the moment it wasn’t sexual but more for comfort. He stepped in the shower first and took your hand helping you in. you the shower on and Tom massaged your head you turned around and rested your head on his shoulder while he put his arms around you. You started to cry. You felt so safe that you had all the space for your feelings. Tom hushed you while giving kisses on your head. Trying to give you comfort. You stood there for a good while just hugging each other. When you calmed down you both got out and Tom dried you off. “You are absolutely gorgeous.” He told you kissing your shoulder. You looked up at him and you made eye contact. He slowly held your face in his hands and gave you a soft kiss that turned passionately. Before anything could go further you both stopped. He helped you in his shirt and got into bed again.
Everything he did, he did with so much care and love that it was something you’ve never experienced before and it was heavenly. You laid both face to face and just looked at each other. His thumb softly caressing your cheek. You both didn’t have to exchange words, everything said it all. You went with your fingers over his features again while looking in his eyes. It held so much love and adoration that it felt you up with love.  “forever” he said softly “forever you said back and he smiled. It said it all, you were both an open book for each other and it felt like you’ve read that book a hundreds of times and you knew each line. That was how good your connection was. An beautiful antique book with it’s wrinkles and faded lines. Handled with love and care and reading it over and over again never getting tired of the story as the letters danced on the pages.
You looked at Tom and you both kissed each other falling this time in a peaceful sleep in the arms of the man you love the most and he in the arms of the woman he loves the most.

your story with jungkook never seems to end, yet you’re still worried about how it’s gonna end.
pairing: ex-bf!jk x thick!reader
warnings: TOXIC (i cannot stress this enough shit is hella toxic), yn is kinda (very) dumb, jungkook is an actual asshole, borderline mental abuse, infidelity, more insecuritiiiies, mentions/hints of sex, etc.
part one part three
There you were in his arms again, with only your panties and his shirt on.
At this point, you couldn’t even explain yourself. You were guilty, but you know what they say; love hurts.
With his arms wrapped around you and you clinging to him like that, you couldn’t care less about what was gonna happen next. You knew you were probably gonna have a mental breakdown when you go back to the dorms but for now, you were okay.
After he came over that night, he contacted you again. He said he didn’t want this to be serious, he wanted it to be a solely sexual relationship.
“You know, you’re the first girl I’ve been with, who seems to like getting hurt and degraded”, he sighs against your hair. “Sometimes I feel like you can’t get enough of it.”
You stayed silent. What were you supposed to do anyway? Tell him he’s right and stay like this for a while or react defensively and start an endless argument? You chose the first one.
“You’re the only woman that’d let me do all this stuff and still love me. Maybe that’s why I came back to you.”
Holding back the tears, you cling closer to his larger body, as if you were using him as some kind of shield. He thought you were an easy target and forgiving. What else would a man want from a woman he was only interested in fucking, a side piece? Even if she’s in love with him, she was gonna ignore that just to spend as much time with him as possible.
“It’s not like you actually came back.”, you responded, keeping your voice as stable as you could. “We’re just fucking.”
Jungkook sighed deeply, most likely noticing your petty undertone. “Don’t be like that. We aren’t fucking right now.”
You weren’t sure what point exactly he was trying to prove, you agreed to be his side chick. Did he think you didn’t know what a side chick was supposed to do? Because you did know, you just secretly thought you guys were meant to be, you weren’t just some side piece.
Looking around the motel room, your stomach began feeling weird. He wasn’t usually cheap, but you guessed he thought a side chick didn’t deserve a better environment than a cheap motel room rent for a night.
“Because we literally just did.”, you calmly said. You weren’t trying to piss him off.
But Jungkook wasn’t having it. Out of nowhere, he shoved you aside and put his hands over his face, noticeably frustrated.
“What happened?”, you weren't sure if asking that was the best option.
Jungkook turns his body to you. “What happened?? You keep on fucking me up and being a bitch about all this and you ask me what happened?”
He was so furious, his eyes were dark and his face was screwed up. You were now both standing, his tall figure towering over yours.
You saw his hand forming a fist and it would’ve been a lie if you said you weren’t terrified. He hasn’t touched you once throughout your relationship, but you never know.
“I didn’t even say anything. Maybe you’re just a little too sensitive.”, you were pouring salt on a wound at this point, but you didn’t want to be weak and let him talk to you like that.
“Me, sensitive?”, his tone was dangerously serene, as he leaned closer to your face. “If I wasn’t here with you, you'd probably still be crying over me. And you know where I’d be? Laying in bed with the beautiful model I have the privilege to call my girlfriend. Yn, I don’t need you. Don’t get bold with me, ‘cause we both know who’s gonna be heartbroken in the end.”
You couldn’t look him in the eyes, what did you get yourself into again? This wasn’t Jungkook’s fault, this wasn’t anybody’s fault but yours. You should’ve never opened up, you should’ve never said yes to being his side piece, you should’ve never been his girlfriend, to begin with. You stayed silent, but your loud sniffs and your uneven breathing said more than you could at the moment.
“I’m leaving.”, he announced coldly before throwing his black leather jacket over his broad shoulders, leaving you half-naked, crying on the poor-quality motel bed you just had sex on. When he got out of the motel room, you looked outside of the small window, watching him leave in the car he drove you here with.
Now, you had no other option than to call Jane to pick you up since your dorm was a half an hour walk away from the motel and you didn’t have the energy to walk for even a minute.
You weren’t sure if you had the energy for all the questions Jane was gonna ask you when she sees your mascara smeared face and your messy hair. Not to mention the motel. You weren’t a motel type of girl and she knew that.
Still, you called her and she answered almost immediately. “Yn? What happened? I thought you were gonna sleepover at your parents’?”
Sleepover at your parents’ house? You had almost forgotten the bad lie you told Jane just to have sex with Jungkook in this cheap-ass motel. And to think you were convinced you two were gonna stay the whole night.
“Uh”, you quickly coughed to cover up the voice cracks you got from crying. “Yeah, it’s a long story, please pick me up. I’ll text you the address.”
About 10 minutes later, Jane arrived and looked at you like you were out of your mind when you got into the car. “Yn, what the fuck? I was so worried about you. And this isn’t your parents’ house, this is a fucking motel. Did you meet a guy? Did he do something to you? Should I call the cops?”
“No, no, no, oh my god, please don’t”, you knew she was gonna ask a lot of questions. “I lied to you. So what actually happened was me and Jungkook reconnected an-“
She rolled her eyes. “Of course it was Jungkook. So I’m guessing he left you here?”
You hesitantly nodded.
“So when were you gonna tell me you ‘reconnected’ with him? When did you even ‘reconnect’ with him?”, she mockingly asked you. You weren’t blaming her for being pissed off, you’d have been too in this situation.
“A month ago? I think..”, you muttered.
“Hm”, Jane nodded, sighing at your naivety. “And when did he even break up with his model chick?”
You awkwardly looked away and Jane was hoping it wasn’t because of what she thought.
“He didn’t break up with her??”, Jane was beyond frustrated. “So.. you’re like his side chick now? Are we gonna stoop that low for men, yn?”
Jane always wanted the best for you and you knew she knew what was the best for you too, you were just too foolish. And too in love with a man you can’t force into loving you again.
“I know but please can we not talk about this right now? I just don’t feel like it.”, you asked, looking down on your fingers, ashamed of yourself.
“Alright, I’m sorry, babe.”, Jane hugged your side quickly, before starting the engine and heading back to the dorm. “You know I just want what’s best for you.”
You nodded, looking out of the window with your head full.
_
“Bella just texted me and said her birthday party will be 90s themed? Can’t she be a little more specific?”, Jane barged into the room, looking down on her phone in disbelief.
Bella was a person you two met at college in one of your shared classes. She was a sweetheart, but she was a little spoiled too. The only reason why she got into the college was that her rich daddy bribed them, but you couldn’t be mad, your parents would’ve done the same if they had the money.
She was extremely extroverted, a people person. She probably never had a boring day in her life with all the parties she threw whenever her dad and his 20 something-year-old girlfriend were on vacation or business trips. She even had some celebrity friends and would just casually post selfies with them on her Instagram story like it was a normal thing to do. She was basically living the dream, clueless about what real life for others really was about.
Jane had a love-hate relationship with Bella ever since they met. She thought Bella was a nice girl, but it was ‘unbearable’ to have a conversation with her because she was too self-centered to talk about anything else than herself.
You shrugged. “Just wear something Aaliyah would’ve worn.”
“Hm. Fair enough. It’s really not all that deep, actually.”, She said. “So what are you gonna wear?”
“I don’t even know if I’m going, Bella’s parties are boring.”, you answered honestly.
You really weren’t sure if you’d go. You did feel like seeing people and having a little fun but it wasn’t like you ever had fun at any of Bella’s parties. One time, a guy puked all over a new dress you bought just for the party, and another time, you were forced to drink 4 beer bottles. You hated beer.
“Why not? It’s gonna be fun and you’re coming.”, she decided for you, making you playfully roll your eyes. “And wear that black latex dress, I haven’t seen it on you in forever.”
To say that Jane was a fashionista would be an understatement. She was too invested in fashion to be bothered with anything else.
“Alright, but only if we don’t stay for long.”, you tried to compromise with her.
She nodded. “We gotta buy her presents though. Is there even anything she doesn’t have?”
You sighed, annoyed. “C’mon, there’s gonna be at least 200 people at that party, it’s not like she’ll notice if we just don’t get her anything. Besides, she’s rich as fuck.”
Jane snickered at your comment. “Girl, you must not know her, she checks every damn person and probably throws them out if they don’t buy her a Chanel bag or something. Bitch is a little crazy.”
It was amusing because you both knew that was exaggerated. Bella wasn't that serious about gifts. But let’s just say, for the money that her dad had, she was a little too greedy.
But you were too bothered with your own life than to worry about other's.
_
As soon as you arrived at Bella’s mansion, two security guards were standing in front of the door. They let you in as you showed them your invitations. It was a little bit extra, but that’s just how Bella was.
The first thing you noticed when you entered the house was the smell of sweat and weed. Already? You weren’t really surprised though.
Bella was standing there, wearing a skintight red dress that, ironically, didn’t really fit her own party’s theme. But she did look absolutely beautiful greeting her guests with the biggest smile on her glowing face. She had her strawberry blonde hair down in elegant beach curls and there were some cute butterfly clips placed in them.
You could recognize that it was her birthday from miles away. She was basically shining.
“Oh my god, Jane, Yn!! I’m so happy to see you guys!”, an overly keen Bella came, hugging you both with strength. “Oh, I see you got me something, girls you know you shouldn’t have!”
She tried hiding her smile at the bags in your hands, freeing the two of you from them immediately.
“It’s your birthday, Bella. We can’t just come here without any gifts, girl.”, Jane smiled. “Happy birthday.”
You looked to your side, admiring Jane’s acting skills. “Happy birthday, Bella! I can’t believe you’re 23 now.”
“I know right, if you were a year younger, you’d be as old as your dad’s girlfriend.”, Jane joked around, making Bella hysterically laugh.
“C’mon, almost everybody’s here already”, Bella excitedly pushed you towards the living room.
The room’s stench was even more unbearable than the one at the entrance, leaving you covering your nose for a second leaving out an ‘oof’.
The 90s trap music was heard extremely loudly through the whole house and there were people dancing and grinding. There were some couples that sat on one of the many couches, acting like they were in their own little world. It wasn’t very pleasant to watch, but you just chose to ignore it. The stench was something you couldn’t ignore though.
You were already bored out of your mind.
A few minutes of pure boredom and dry conversations passed then the music stopped playing and you could hear Bella’s voice calling for everybody’s attention. “I’m gonna open the presents now, so everybody come here and Daphne, please bring the gifts here so I can open them.”
Daphne was Bella’s personal maid. She never really talked, but she did everything she needed to. She brought all the bags to Bella one by one and you could’ve sworn she was trying not to cry out of happiness.
“Oh my god, Jackson”, She cried out as she pulled a pair of Saint Laurent shoes out of a box. “These are so beautiful. You even got the right size. Thank you so mu-“
“Bella, I’m so sorry we’re late, we had to run some errands”, a soft-spoken voice interrupted, making everybody in the room turn her way, just to see the charming model with none other than Jeon Jungkook by her side. Wow.
As soon as you turned your head to see who it was, you turned back around, looking at Jane to make sure she saw what you saw. You sent her a questioning, almost panicking look just for her to shrug.
“Yuki! It’s fine, girl. Come here, I’m opening my presents right now.”, The birthday girl exclaimed, making Yuki immediately hand her her gift.
Jungkook was just walking behind his girlfriend, making no type of noise whatsoever and you prayed he wouldn’t see you.
They sat down at an angle where you couldn’t help but look at them though and you were sure he looked at you for a split second as well. They looked beautiful together.
Bella just continued opening gifts and thanking everybody dearly, but you weren’t paying attention to that. You just zoned out for most of it. Those were a lot of gifts she got.
You couldn’t help but steal another glance at your ex-boyfriend and the girl besides him.
She looked even cuter in real life. Her cheeks had a natural blush to them and her hair was long and healthy. She was thin and her skin tone was warm and even.
You’ve always been insecure about your hyperpigmentation, but she didn’t seem to have any problems with how she looked. She was near damn perfect. Perfect wasn’t real, but if it was, it’d be her.
Jungkook probably never had a problem introducing her to his parents or his friends. You always felt like he had difficulties with that while he was dating you. He just wasn’t confrontational enough to tell you he was ashamed to have you as his girlfriend.
You seemed to be stuck in your place while everybody else was either dancing or making conversation.
Jane was sitting next to you, talking to a girl with blond box braids about a new movie that recently came out. You heard what they were saying, but it sounded like a foreign language to you since you weren’t focused.
“Yn? Are you okay?”, Jane whispered in your ear, hugging your shoulder. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know they were invited.”
You shook your head. “It’s fine, Jane. It’s not your fault, I just kind of wanna go home.”
She looked at you apologetically. “Can’t we stay for a little while? I promise it won’t take long, I’m just actually having fun here.”
You had to admit you were being selfish, not just in that moment, but whenever it came to Jungkook. You’ve dragged Jane through all of your shit and never really thought about how she must feel like.
Nodding in response to her. “I’m gonna get myself something to drink.”
You finally stood up from your place, looking around unsure, feeling like you’re taking up so much space wherever you go, even when you were doing absolutely nothing.
You wore the latex dress, but only because Jane insisted and made sure you knew you looked good. She convinced you for maybe a second, but all those insecurities were coming back. You tried sucking in your stomach the whole night, but it just wasn’t enough.
You were asking yourself all kinds of questions. If your arms looked too fat and if your cellulite was visible, if your hip-dips were as noticeable to others as they were to you. You felt like everybody was looking and they were judging really hard.
All you wanted was to fade into oblivion.
You were feeling his eyes on your back and god, you wanted to look too but you fought the urge, just continued walking to the bathroom. You weren’t in the mood to drink after all.
Your gut feeling was telling you he was following, but you ignored it.
Until you were about to close the bathroom door and you saw black timberlands stepping between the door and the doorframe to stop you from closing it.
You sighed, opening the door, resulting in him getting in the bathroom with you.
“Why are you avoiding me?”, the handsome man facing you asked, brown eyes looking deep inside of yours.
“How can I avoid you when you didn’t even try talking to me?”, you asked back, looking away immediately.
You hated how your relationship was just a cycle of him hurting you and coming back, acting like he hadn’t done anything wrong. And he was so good at it too.
He chuckled darkly, letting his eyes glide down your body for a second just to look back into your eyes. “You know exactly what I mean, yn. Don’t play dumb.”
You did know what he meant.
“And? It’s not like I have anything to say to you.”
Jungkook came closer to you, softly wrapping one arm around your waist, whispering in your ear. “You don’t?”
You couldn’t believe how shameless he was, being so close to you while his girlfriend was a few meters away, outside of this door, probably thinking he’s getting her a drink or something. You wondered if he did the same thing to you when you were dating.
“Jungkook, stop. Your girlfriend is here.”, you tried to convince yourself you didn’t want it. “How can you even do this?”
“It’s nothing we haven’t done before, princess.”, He kissed your earlobe. “You can’t possibly think it’s okay when she’s not around, but not okay when she is. It’s the same thing.”
You knew he was right, besides, you were just as guilty as he was. You were messing around with a taken guy and the worst part was, you knew he was taken and you still did it.
“I know, but I wanna end whatever this is”, you hesitated to say. “It’s unhealthy and you already have a girlfriend, why don’t you go and kiss her, why me?”
You were avoiding this conversation ever since this started. Sometimes it’s hard talking about things you don’t actually want to hear about.
“What do you mean?”, Jungkook feigned confusion, but you knew better than to believe him. “It’s easier said than done, yn. We have a history together, you know that.”
“I do, but that’s all we are. History. And we should both get over it.”, you responded.
“But what if I don’t want to?”, it was more of a statement than a question, really. “What if I told you, you’re special to me?”
You were gonna have a meltdown if he continued with this. Why was he so fucking complicated? You knew he didn’t love you so what was it?
“But I’m not. The only reason why you come back is because you think I’m easy material. It’s because you were my first everything and it’s because you know exactly how much you mean to me.”, you cry out, tears coming up to ruin your makeup again. You wished you wouldn’t cry as much as you did. “You know I’ll always let you in, no matter what. I know I’m at fault too here and I’m not blaming you, but please for god’s sake, don’t make it worse on me.”
You looked in the mirror, almost not recognizing yourself. You felt detached from reality, but not in a good way at all.
Jungkook scoffed, looking down at you. “I know I shouldn’t have tried talking to you. It’s like you can’t even appreciate anybody showing you affection. I’m trying to prove to you, that you aren’t nothing to me and that’s the response that I get. Not everybody’s against you, yn, you’re just too insecure to notice. That’s why you haven’t ever had anybody showing you interest. It’s because you lack confidence and think the world revolves around you. But I did show you interest. In the past and now. But look at you. You haven’t changed at all, still the little yn who compares herself to other girls and thrives off of male attention, because you can’t believe that somebody could love you just for you when there’s skinnier, prettier girls walking around. So what if there are skinnier, prettier girls around? That’s reality, yn.”
You didn’t know what exactly you expected him to say, but that wasn’t it. Looking at him with big, teary eyes, is that really what he thought of you? Of course, it was. Because it was the truth. The cold, hard truth. Not sugarcoated. He knew you better than you wanted him to.
Without a single word leaving your dry lips, you open the door and run out, ignoring him calling your name and the weird stares people were giving you. You needed to find Jane.
Once you found her joking around with a bunch of random people, you go up to her. You most likely looked like you came out of a horror movie.
“Yn? What the fuck happened?”, she lightly took your face in her warm hands and caressed your cheek worriedly.
“Pl- please, can we just go home?”, you whimpered, thankful that everybody was respectful enough to turn around and focus on their stuff instead of ogling at you.
“Sure, sure. Come here”, she took you in her arms and walked you out of the mansion, not caring to say goodbye to anybody.

Twst Mc being the child of Lucifer
From Anon: “ Um, could I have one were twst MC is the child of Lucifer and Obey me MC with the dorm leaders reaction? Thank you so much and have a happy holiday! “
 (I’m so sorry this is late qwq , i hope you had a good holiday!! )
Also yes the twst Mc is in a relationship with them in this scenario
Riddle
He never thought too much about you , like he just sees you as a nice and well behaved student
you two really bonded well with each other
You felt comfortable enough to tell him that you were the child of the Demon of Pride
He was frozen , now nothing changed , he still loved you but he now other things to consider
Were you part demon or just human with small demon powers ? and other questions relating to that
but it did get scary when her father himself showed up
Lucifer just appeared out of no where , Riddle and whoever else was around was frightened but you just ran up to him saying “Dad! “
Riddle was intimidated but did his overall best to show that he cared and truly loved his child to the best of his abilities
Lucifer appreciated Riddle how respectful he was to you, he was glad he has someone to care for his child as well as being a well behaved student
Lucifer wished you both the best and hopes to see Riddle as a son in law
Riddle felt fully accomplished
Leona
oh no
was your immediate thought when you dad said he was going to visit you at your school
it wouldn’t be too much of a problem but you mentioned to your father before that you had a boyfriend and that boyfriend was none other then Leona
He wasn’t a bad boyfriend but you were afraid that lucifer would disapprove of him , meaning he might prohibit you from seeing him , no way you wanted that , you loved him (even if he can be a butt at times)
the day your father came , you nervously hugged him , and showed him around
but to your surprise, Leona was prepared??
when you reached Savanaclaw for Lucifer to meet Leona and Leona acted somewhat out of character
He seemed non chalant but he acted more proper then he would - which is usually never
 there were times Leona wanted to make a “smart” remark but he seemed to hold it in
Lucifer accepted Leona as your lover, which relieved you heavily , but as soon as Lucifer left
“Man, he really has a stick up his ass”
“yeah he would of for sure gave you the whip if you said that .”
“the what-”
Azul
Azul was having a breakdown and you had to calm him down , or try to-
Azul was nervous because now only are you the daughter of a Demon but a POWERFUL demon-
he wanted to make the best impression , though you didn’t think it was necessary for him to do so
They day lucifer arrive, he did his best to be polite and professional as possible at the monstro lounge
Lucifer was already somewhat impressed that Azul was running his own business, but didn’t really trust the tweels that were with them
 Azul’s nervous went off when an angry customer tried to confront him and almost took it on you and that very much pissed him off , to the point where he had the tweels “deal with him”
after coming back to reality , he realized he showed Lucifer the self he wanted to hide
but to his surprise, this impressed Lucifer “nani-”
“I would of taken care of those humans myself for dare to touch my child but i can be assured they’re safe with you . “
soon after, he patted Azul’s back but whispers before his leave “next time, i’ll show you some other ways to ‘take care “ of customers like that
As soon as he left, he was relieved but interested in the next time he’d meet lucifer again
Kalim
This sweet baby-
He didn’t seem to be fearful hearing about you dad, it just made him more excited to meet him!
You were pleased but scared because you weren’t sure how your dad would react
On the day Lucifer arrived, Kalim gave welcoming gifts to Lucifer, they weren’t overly expensive but it was still surprising to Lucifer (he better keep these away from Mammon)
Speaking of mammon, Lucifer thought he somewhat looked like Mammon , but he seemed more generous and kind
that point was shown because Kalim was nothing but a ball of sunshine, he did his best to impressive Lucifer and showed how much he cared for you
He even threw a party
During the party, kalim would usually go wild but he was more mellow for your dad , that way he didn’t seem too rowdy
afterwards it was time for Lucifer to go
He told Kalim that he was grateful for the gifts and welcoming arua
and finished off with “Please keep my Child smiling “
that really hit his heart
Vil
Vil had no worries at all about meeting you father
he had to deal with meeting important people before
but for this case, he did somewhat practice what he could possible say to your father to make a good impression
The day Lucifer arrived , Vil arranged for you two and him to have tea
Vil was himself during the whole time he talked with lucifer
You didn’t really worry too much since Vil doesn’t do anything to drastic for Lucifer to disapprove of
Lucifer had a blank face, which was scary because it was hard to tell how he felt about the moment
but Lucifer did approve of Vil but he did criticize him on certain points that involved his views
like how he doesn’t understand why he would refer some as potatoes, he sees it as in insult Don’t let him know your vil’s sweet potato
Other then that , he gets along well with Vil
They talk for a long while , with most of it being about you
Vil mentioned that he planned to live a happy life with you , such as marriage and (Depending if female or male/neutral by adopting) have children
Which made you flustered to think about all that with Vil
Soon after, lucifer said his farewell but before leaving “Yes, you may have permission to Marry “Y/N”
Idia
Rip Idia
He will admit he’s not the best at being a person but he will try for you
but it’s pushing it because he’s going to meet your demon overlord dad
He felt like he was getting pushed into a Hell escape game and versing a demon boss that was holding the princess captive or something like that
He really tried his best to improve his speech but he always ends up stuttering even if no one was there
When the dreaded day arrived , Idia nervously waited For you and Lucifer at the dorm entrance
He formally greeted lucifer , he was slightly shaky but luckily it wasn’t that noticeable
idia barely talked and Lucifer already had a disapproving look
sadly the entire time, lucifer was harshly judging him , which he was already used to
but Lucifer struck a nerve when mentioning taking you away from him
Idia confindenaly Disagreed which might i add was bold af and you were standing there shook he even said that period
“L-look, i might be the greatest or best choice for “Y/N” but i love and care for them! They’re the only reason I even try to better myself! “
When he realized what he said , he froze but still was holding his guard
surprisingly though, Lucifer approved. Not because he was suddenly a good choice but the fact he’s trying to do better just for you, which you gotta admire for Idia’s case
Before leaving , he did warn Idia if he ever talked back like that again, he’d get the whip , Idia is well behaved whenever Lucifer comes back
Malleus
oh this was an interesting case
Now you weren’t sure how it would result , it could go really good or really bad
Malleus gave the same vibes as lucifer but a bit more on the calm side (not to mention similar horns )
Malleus was pleased to hear he’d be meeting your father
The day Lucifer Arrived , he was first greeted by Malleus who was already with you
Lucifer and him seemed to be fine but you had a weird feeling they were just eyeing each other down , so a silent fight??
You were enjoying the evening with them and talk about things that they might agree on or having similar interest
You were lucky because Lucifer was fascinated with Malleus’ interests and his history m], as well as being a soon to be ruler
though Malleus jokingly challenges Lucifer, you can tell he wanted to actually test that
Lucifer lowkey wanted to do the same but he had to be professional with him for your sake
After seeing you two , he gives the ok that he’s fit but he still wants that challenge
you laughed it off but Malleus seemed highly interested
lord save us all from a Malleus and Lucifer Fight-

To finish this amazing JC Love Month that has given so much joy, could I ask for a final chapter of Lan Quiren being the good dad that little Jiang Cheng is in desperate need of? Thank you so much for that series!! It is all that I ever wanted and more,but I just need a WWX and JY and reacting to YZ and JFM and Lan Quiren interacting. Thank you so much!!! 💛💛
JC Love Month 2020 Day 30
Breathing and Footsteps
Your wish is my command, Anon! Day 30 of JC Love Month brings one last confrontation between LQR and JC's parents, this time witnessed by JC's siblings, who fully support him and LQR taking care of him. This also marks the last day of JC Love Month, so thank you all for sticking with me through it all! Technically it was a free day but I'm very bad with those, so my friend gave me a few word prompts to work with. This follows after Day 23 of JC Love Month.
Jiang Cheng is reading over the material they will cover in class later, when someone suddenly sits down next to him.
Jiang Cheng frowns, a biting remark already on his tongue, but he swallows it down when he turns and sees that it’s Lan Xichen.
“Oh, hi,” Jiang Cheng breathes out and Lan Xichen’s mouth twitches in amusement but when he smiles it’s kind.
“How are you doing?” Lan Xichen asks him, sending a pointed look at his newly cast-free hand.
“I’m doing well,” Jiang Cheng gives back and he’s almost surprised to find that he means it, too. “Doctor Wen says it’s healing well and if I stick to the physical therapy I shouldn’t have any problems going forward.”
“That’s very good to hear,” Lan Xichen says. “Though I think Wen Qing insisted on you calling her by her name.”
“She might have,” Jiang Cheng says and looks down at his book.
He tried, too, but it felt wrong when she was removing his cast and so he decided to stick to Doctor Wen. She had glared at him when he did, but her glare held none of the bite Jiang Cheng was used to from his mother, so she probably wasn’t too bad.
“As long as you know you’re free to call her Wen Qing, it’s okay,” Lan Xichen reassures him and lightly pats his forearm. “Listen, there’s actually a reason I’m here,” Lan Xichen then says and Jiang Cheng can’t help it, he tenses when worry settles in his belly.
“Is anything wrong?” Jiang Cheng asks, his voice low and scared, because most times he still feels like he’s in a dream, as if one day he will wake up and Lan Qiren won’t care about him and Jiang Cheng will have to sleep back in his own huge, empty house.
“Nothing is wrong,” Lan Xichen immediately tells him. “I’m sorry it sounded like that,” he goes on and Jiang Cheng thinks he knows him well enough by now to know that Lan Xichen will consider his words much more carefully from now on.
“What’s going on then?” Jiang Cheng asks, reassured now that it won’t be something bad.
“Uncle is working late today,” Lan Xichen starts and Jiang Cheng nods.
Lan Qiren had told him about the meeting he has today, much to Jiang Cheng’s surprise, because his parents never bothered to tell him where they would be and if they would be coming home that day.
“Yeah, he said,” Jiang Cheng whispers, still almost feeling uncomfortably surprised that Lan Qiren took the time to inform him about his plans.
“Good,” Lan Xichen says, as if it’s entirely normal that Lan Qiren told him. “I thought since you’re doing well with your arm, that I could show you how to cook one of Uncle’s favourite dishes today? I think he would like coming home after that meeting to a home-cooked meal.”
Jiang Cheng has to regulate his breathing at that, because he feels this close to a breakdown in the middle of school and Lan Xichen puts his hand on Jiang Cheng’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry if I upset you,” Lan Xichen lowly says, taking care that no one else can hear them, but Jiang Cheng shakes his head.
“No, I would like that,” Jiang Cheng immediately says and looks at Lan Xichen. “Please, if you have the time.”
“I wouldn’t have offered otherwise,” Lan Xichen says with a smile and squeezes Jiang Cheng’s shoulder once. “I’ll come by later then, alright?” Lan Xichen asks and Jiang Cheng nods.
“Thank you,” Jiang Cheng breathes out but Lan Xichen shakes his head.
“It’s my pleasure,” Lan Xichen replies and gets up. “See you later, then, Wanyin,” he says and leaves Jiang Cheng to his reading again.
Jiang Cheng wants to go back to that, but his mind his whirring now, too touched by Lan Xichen’s kindness and thoughtfulness and Jiang Cheng is looking forward to giving Lan Qiren something in return, even if it’s only something small.
Jiang Cheng barely managed to concentrate on his book again, when he hears footsteps coming up behind him and Jiang Cheng turns his head with a sigh.
He immediately straightens up when he realizes that it’s Lan Qiren who is coming up to him.
“Is everything alright?” Lan Qiren wants to know, not looking directly at Jiang Cheng, but Jiang Cheng can still tell that he’s honestly worried that anything could be wrong.
“Yes,” Jiang Cheng very honestly says and Lan Qiren seems to believe him, because he nods once and then finally looks at Jiang Cheng.
“How’s your hand?” he wants to know, as if he isn’t asking after Jiang Cheng’s wellbeing every day but Jiang Cheng smiles at his obvious concern.
“It feels fine,” Jiang Cheng gives back and carefully rotates his wrist to show Lan Qiren that he’s not lying about it.
“That’s good,” Lan Qiren says and then his eyes wander to Jiang Cheng’s book in front of him. “I’ll let you get back to studying then,” Lan Qiren decides and simply marches off without giving Jiang Cheng another chance to say something.
Jiang Cheng smiles slightly when he watches Lan Qiren walk away, and he feels entirely too fond of Lan Qiren at that moment, realizing that this really was just him paying enough attention to Jiang Cheng to have seen Lan Xichen with him and to immediately worry.
He is not used to care like this, but he slowly realizes that it seems to be the norm with Lan Qiren. Jiang Cheng smiles into his book at that thought.
Jiang Cheng schools his face into a frown when someone sits down opposite of him and by now Jiang Cheng is absolutely convinced that he will not get any reading done.
Especially so when he sees that it’s Wei Wuxian who sat down at his table.
“What?” Jiang Cheng snaps out, because he hasn’t seen Wei Wuxian all that much since he moved out of his old house two weeks ago, and he only ever hears from Lan Wangji that Wei Wuxian is alright.
“How are you?” Wei Wuxian asks with a look at his wrist and Jiang Cheng shrugs.
“The cast came off,” he says and Wei Wuxian rolls his eyes at him.
“I can see that. But how are you?”
“I’m okay,” Jiang Cheng says, much more softer at that, because he can tell that Wei Wuxian is really worried.
“Are you in trouble?” Wei Wuxian asks with a frown, and when Jiang Cheng looks at him in confusion, he nods to where Lan Qiren just vanished.
“Why would you think that?” Jiang Cheng wants to know and he nods at Lan Wangji when he joins Wei Wuxian.
“You’ve been spending a lot of time at the headmaster’s office. Are you in trouble?”
Jiang Cheng looks at Lan Wangji at that, who simply shrugs.
“You said not to tell. I didn’t,” he easily replies and Jiang Cheng knows that Lan Wangji doesn’t particularly like him, so he didn’t expect that.
Since Jiang Cheng moved into Lan Qiren’s house permanently Lan Wangji has been a lot nicer during family meals, but they will never be best friends and that’s okay with Jiang Cheng, but to hear that he respected his wishes really touches him.
“Thank you,” Jiang Cheng whispers and Lan Wangji only nods.
“What’s going on here?” Wei Wuxian whines when he sees them exchanging looks and Jiang Cheng sighs.
“You know what?” Jiang Cheng asks him and shuts his book. “Come to the house tomorrow afternoon and you’ll see,” Jiang Cheng tells him, because tomorrow they will pick up the last of Jiang Cheng’s things from his old room and Jiang Cheng suspects that Wei Wuxian needs to see that Jiang Cheng left to really believe it.
“You know what, you should bring A-jie as well,” Jiang Cheng says as he stands up. “She should know, too.”
Jiang Cheng felt bitter for about the first week when he realized that neither Wei Wuxian nor Jiang Yanli noticed that he’s not at home, or when neither one of them checked in on him, but he realized that it’s unfair.
Jiang Yanli is just starting her new life with Jin Zixuan and Wei Wuxian is clearly still living on cloud seven with Lan Wangji so of course they wouldn’t notice.
Jiang Cheng doesn’t like it, but he understands. It’s unfair of him to expect to have all of their attention all the time and Jiang Yanli did ask about his wrist.
“What is going on?” Wei Wuxian whines again but this time it’s Lan Wangji who shushes him.
Jiang Cheng doesn’t pay too much attention to him anymore, simply walking away and getting to his class.
~*~*~
Jiang Cheng is nervous when Lan Xichen leaves him to it. He talked him through the whole process of making Lan Qiren’s favourite dish, not actually helping that much and he seemed proud enough with Jiang Cheng’s result that Jiang Cheng shouldn’t fret so much.
But he can’t help it.
He feels like if he botched this attempt of Lan Qiren’s food then he might as well just move back in with his parents and Jiang Cheng is stressing way too much over this.
He wishes Lan Xichen hadn’t left as soon as they were done, if just so that someone was around to keep his mind off things, and Jiang Cheng briefly debates calling Jiang Yanli, but in the end he doesn’t.
If he calls her now, he would have to explain why he is cooking for Lan Qiren and Jiang Cheng doesn’t feel like doing that this evening. He will have to explain enough tomorrow after all.
Jiang Cheng is startled out of his panic when he hears a key in the door and his hands start to sweat when Lan Qiren calls out a “I’m home”.
“Welcome home,” Jiang Cheng gives back and meets Lan Qiren in the doorway to the kitchen.
“What’s smelling so good?” Lan Qiren asks and Jiang Cheng gives him a sheepish smile.
“I cooked,” he says and Lan Qiren’s face immediately falls, and Jiang Cheng feels sick with nerves.
“Why? How is your wrist? Did you overdo it?” Lan Qiren asks immediately and he reaches out for Jiang Cheng’s arm as if he could tell if Jiang Cheng overworked it.
“I’m fine, I’m fine, Xichen-ge did all the heavy cutting, don’t worry. I was careful,” Jiang Cheng reassures him, flooded with warmth when he realizes that Lan Qiren is simply worried for him.
“Is that what you were talking with my nephew about today?” Lan Qiren asks as he looks into the kitchen.
“Yes,” Jiang Cheng admits. “He offered to teach me one of your favourite dishes. I wanted to do something nice for you, for once,” Jiang Cheng whispers and Lan Qiren’s face smoothes out.
“Wanyin,” he breathes out and tugs Jiang Cheng into a half-hug. “Thank you,” he sincerely says and then moves them into the kitchen.
“It smells delicious,” Lan Qiren praises him and Jiang Cheng ducks his head at that.
He’s not used to being thanked or to getting praised and he still doesn’t know how to handle it. So instead of looking at Lan Qiren he busies himself with setting the table while Lan Qiren brings over the heavier pots.
Jiang Cheng keeps quiet as they start to eat, as per the rules in Lan Qiren’s house, and so he’s extremely surprised when Lan Qiren lowers his chopsticks after a few bites.
“It’s absolutely delicious, Wanyin,” he says and Jiang Cheng is surprised enough that he broke his own rule so that he only stares at Lan Qiren until Lan Qiren awkwardly clears his throat.
“I’m glad you like it,” Jiang Cheng finally says and then shoves another bite into his mouth.
Thankfully they spend the rest of the dinner in silence after that, but the praise sits warm and heavy in Jiang Cheng’s gut, warming him through and through.
He’s not used to feeling like this, but he likes it very much.
~*~*~
Jiang Cheng swallows heavily as he looks up at the house in front of him but Lan Qiren is a steady presence at his side.
“We’ll just get your last things and then you won’t have to come back,” Lan Qiren promises him but Jiang Cheng is too nervous to nod, because he spotted his parent’s cars in the garage and he knows it won’t be nice.
It will be even messier, Jiang Cheng realizes with a start when Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli come up to them.
“A-Cheng,” Jiang Yanli greets him warmly and pulls him into a hug. “How is your wrist?”
“It’s all good,” he reassures her but she still checks his wrist for herself. “You won’t see anything,” he says with a slight chuckle but she continues to fuss over him.
“What is Headmaster Lan doing here?” Wei Wuxian asks though he does pull Jiang Cheng into a hug as well.
“We’re getting my things,” Jiang Cheng tells them when Lan Qiren stays quiet.
“Your things?” Jiang Yanli asks with a small frown and Jiang Cheng nods.
“I am no longer living here,” Jiang Cheng finally admits and watches as their eyes go big.
“What?” Wei Wuxian almost yells out and Jiang Cheng can tell that Lan Qiren wants to reprimand him for his volume but then thinks better of it.
“Wanyin is living with me,” Lan Qiren tells them and then pushes Jiang Cheng towards the house. “Let’s get this over with, okay?” Lan Qiren asks and Jiang Cheng knows that he’s looking forward to the family dinner they will have this evening.
Jiang Cheng is too, if he’s being honest.
“You’re what?” Wei Wuxian calls after them, but Jiang Yanli shushes him and follows them as well.
Jiang Cheng doesn’t have a key anymore—his mother took it when they came by the first time two weeks ago—and both his siblings give him a startled look when he rings the doorbell.
His mother flings the door open and she scans the small crowd in front of her with a judging look.
“It took you long enough,” she then says, not looking at Lan Qiren at all, who puts a steadying hand to Jiang Cheng’s back.
“It won’t take long,” Jiang Cheng says and his mother scoffs at him.
“As if anything you did ever went fast,” she mutters under her breath and Jiang Cheng can feel how Lan Qiren stiffens next to him.
“Mother!” Jiang Yanli snaps out and Jiang Cheng flinches he’s so surprised at that.
But their mother doesn’t even spare her a look and simply walks away from them, clearly trusting that Jiang Cheng will show them the way.
They barely made it three steps into the house when Jiang Fengmian comes out.
“What is going on here?” he demands to know when he sees his children and Lan Qiren in his hallway and Jiang Cheng takes a steadying breath before he answers him.
“We’re here to get the rest of my things,” Jiang Cheng tells him and Jiang Fengmian frowns at him.
“The rest of your things?” he asks, but then he gets distracted when Wei Wuxian moves or breath or whatever it is he does to capture Jiang Cheng’s father’s attention so easily.
“How have you been, A-Xian?” he wants to know and Jiang Cheng can’t help the bitter laugh he lets out at that.
“Father,” Jiang Yanli scolds him as well but Jiang Fengmian seems honestly confused about what she is so upset about.
“We know the way, don’t trouble yourself,” Lan Qiren suddenly speaks up and moves confidently down the hallway towards Jiang Cheng’s room.
“What is Headmaster Lan doing here?” Jiang Fengmian asks and Jiang Cheng is surprised to find that he’s not surprised to realize that his father didn’t even notice his continued absence. “Are you in trouble again?” he asks then and his voice is heavy with disappointment.
“He is helping me getting my things,” Jiang Cheng says, with more patience than he actually feels.
“Your things? Where are you staying?” he asks and Jiang Cheng shakes his head.
“As if you really care,” he mutters, and then drags his siblings along when he follows after Lan Qiren.
“A-Cheng, for how long has this been going on?” Jiang Yanli asks him on the way and when Jiang Cheng only presses his lips together.
“Since the fight, right?” Wei Wuxian suddenly asks. “When I told you not to come home.”
“Since the fight, yes,” Jiang Cheng answers. “Lan Qiren brought me to the hospital when mother wanted me to go to work. And then I had nowhere to stay, so he allowed me to come over. I’ve been over a lot and then two weeks ago mother wanted me to get the cast off and Lan Qiren had a few words for her.”
“She wanted to have the cast taken off after four weeks?” Jiang Yanli suddenly asks and Jiang Cheng nods.
“And Lan Qiren didn’t let her?”
“Him and the doctor they took me to.”
“Good of them,” Wei Wuxian says with vehemence and Jiang Yanli nods at that.
Lan Qiren already gathered most of the things Jiang Cheng mentioned he needs and so there is not actually that much left to do for him.
“Anything else?” Lan Qiren asks him and Jiang Cheng quickly gathers two more knickknacks he knows he would miss, but then that’s it.
That’s his whole life packed away in two short trips and Jiang Cheng isn’t actually that sad about it.
“Where are you going?” Jiang Fengmian suddenly asks from the door, a thunderous expression on his face. “Is this why you haven’t been at work?”
“Now you notice,” Jiang Cheng says with a scoff, but when Lan Qiren puts a hand to his arm, he falls silent.
“You will let us leave now. Wanyin will not be back, and if you need further details you best speak to your wife.”
“You can’t just take my son. That’s abduction!”
“And what you’re doing is child neglect at best and active abuse at worst,” Lan Qiren hisses at him, and Jiang Cheng ducks his head.
He objectively knows that Lan Qiren is speaking the truth but it doesn’t make this any easier to take.
“A-Cheng,” Jiang Yanli whispers, clearly horrified but Jiang Cheng shushes her, too concentrated on the look on Jiang Fengmian’s face.
“What are you saying?” he demands to know, but he already lost his posture so Jiang Cheng knows that he will let them leave without further fight.
His father did always shy away from confrontation.
“I am saying that if you don’t want child protection to come knocking on your door you better shut up now,” Lan Qiren says and Jiang Cheng has never heard him speak like this to anyone.
It seems like he has no respect at all for Jiang Fengmian and Jiang Cheng can understand that.
“Wanyin,” Jiang Fengmian tries, but even as Wei Wuxian and Jiang Yanli clearly gear up to tell him a few choice words, Lan Qiren steps right in front of Jiang Cheng and blocks his view at Jiang Fengmian.
“You will not speak to Wanyin, except to apologize to him and to wish him a good life at my place,” Lan Qiren decides and then nods, clearly expecting Jiang Fengmian’s silence.
“Then get out of the way,” Lan Qiren says and when Jiang Fengmian isn’t quick enough to comply with his wishes, he bodily pushes him aside.
Lan Qiren never struck Jiang Cheng as a physical person, but it seems like he’s entirely fed up with Jiang Cheng’s parents and Jiang Cheng can’t say that he minds it much.
“Come on, Wanyin,” Lan Qiren says over his shoulder and Jiang Cheng sticks close to his side when he starts to walk away.
Jiang Yanli and Wei Wuxian don’t follow them immediately, but Jiang Cheng doesn’t look back.
He suspects they have a few words for Jiang Fengmian as well, and he’s not too keen on listening in on that.
Madam Yu doesn’t show up when they leave and Jiang Cheng is really grateful for that, because he doesn’t feel ready for another confrontation with her, even though Lan Qiren is a steady and supportive presence for him.
“Can we wait for my siblings here?” Jiang Cheng asks when they are at Lan Qiren’s car and of course Lan Qiren nods.
“Are you okay?” Lan Qiren asks and Jiang Cheng blinks when he realizes that he is.
“Yes,” he honestly says. “Thanks to you,” Jiang Cheng tacks on and then he darts in to quickly hug Lan Qiren, who pats his back when Jiang Cheng can’t bring himself to let go again immediately.
“A-Cheng,” Jiang Yanli suddenly says from behind them and it’s only then that Jiang Cheng lets go of Lan Qiren.
“Oh, A-Cheng, I didn’t know what mother wanted to do,” Jiang Yanli says as she pulls him into a hug herself and Jiang Cheng bites back the bitter reply on his tongue and falls into her embrace instead.
“It’s alright,” Jiang Cheng mutters, and then groans when Wei Wuxian gathers them both up in a hug as well.
“You should have said something,” Wei Wuxian mumbles but before Jiang Cheng can say that maybe they should have realized on their own, Wei Wuxian goes on. “I’m glad you had Headmaster Lan at your side.”
“Me, too,” Jiang Cheng gives back, because he doesn’t even want to imagine what would have happened to him if Lan Qiren hadn’t been there for him.
“We have to go, guys,” Jiang Cheng says when the hug goes on and on, and while he enjoys this, he knows that Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji are waiting for them at Lan Qiren’s place, and he’s actually looking forward to that dinner.
“Alright,” Jiang Yanli reluctantly says and let’s go of Jiang Cheng.
“You’re welcome to visit Wanyin whenever you like,” Lan Qiren speaks up, much to Jiang Cheng’s surprise.
“Thank you,” Jiang Yanli says and then also hugs Lan Qiren.
He doesn’t quite seem to know what to do with that, but before he can figure it out Jiang Yanli steps back again.
“Thank you so much for taking care of my didi,” she quietly tacks on and Lan Qiren clears his throat.
“You’re welcome,” he says without meeting anyone’s eyes and then he gets into the car, clearly looking to get out of this situation.
Jiang Cheng smiles at his behaviour and Wei Wuxian brushes their shoulder’s together.
“Are you really doing alright?” he quietly asks and Jiang Cheng leans into his side.
“Yes,” he honestly says and Wei Wuxian nods.
“I promise to keep better in touch now,” Wei Wuxian says. “I know I was occupied with Lan Zhan, and I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”
“It’s alright,” Jiang Cheng gives back, even though he’s not entirely sure it is, but when Wei Wuxian smiles at him he figures they will be okay.
“We’ll be around much more,” Jiang Yanli also promises him and takes his hand in hers. “I promise. I’m so sorry I left you alone with this.”
“It’s not your fault,” Jiang Cheng says.
Jiang Yanli is only two years older than him after all and it really shouldn’t be her job to worry about Jiang Cheng’s life.
“But I will still do better now,” she says and Jiang Cheng believes her.
“Alright,” he says and then smiles apologetically at her and Wei Wuxian. “Listen, we have to go now. It’s family dinner tonight,” he explains and is startled when he sees tears in Jiang Yanli’s eyes.
“Go and enjoy your family dinner then,” Jiang Yanli says as she pats Jiang Cheng’s cheek and he blushes.
“I will,” he promises and then he moves away from them, because he actually itches to leave with Lan Qiren now.
“Are you ready?” Lan Qiren asks when he slides into the car with him, and Jiang Cheng nods.
“It’s too much today,” he admits. “But I’m looking forward to them visiting.”
“They truly are always welcome,” Lan Qiren reiterates again and reaches over to squeeze Jiang Cheng’s shoulder.
“Thank you,” Jiang Cheng whispers. “For everything.”
“That’s what you do for family,” Lan Qiren replies even as he starts the car, mostly to avoid looking at Jiang Cheng, he knows that by now.
Jiang Cheng smiles at his predictable behaviour and then settles deeper into the seat.
Lan Xichen promised to make Jiang Cheng’s favourite dishes today and Jiang Cheng is even looking forward to see Lan Wangji and he realizes that this must be what family feels like.
It’s a very warm and comfortable feeling and Jiang Cheng hopes he gets a lot more of this now.
But when he looks over at Lan Qiren, Jiang Cheng knows that he will do his best to make sure that Jiang Cheng always feels like this.

Riva Remembers
(A cheesy title for a fic I wrote while in the midst of an emotional breakdown, haha… I figured I’d post it on here because people seem to like my artwork of this OC so far. This is my first time writing these characters. Also I am on mobile and super duper tired from the aforementioned breakdown, so please pardon the long post. I have no idea how to put the read more thing on this… Regardless I hope someone enjoys this, I guess.)
“Agent Cruller, it’s me! Raz! I need to talk to you—“
“Sorry, senior staff only!” The old man in the mailroom office replied coldly, turning back to sorting the piles of letters with telekinesis.
“Don’t you know who I am?!” Nick’s voice came from farther into the mailroom, “I’m telling my dad!”
Razputin suddenly got an idea… He raced down to find his mentor standing there, eyes looking off in two separate directions. Another figure he recognized was on the verge of a nervous breakdown right next to him… Actually she looked like she had already been through multiple breakdowns before he even got here.
“Mr. Johnsmith?! Come on! It’s me! N-nick?!” The teen ran pale hands through her short brown hair, “Th-this is terrible! I am dead for sure!”
“Postage stamps…are scratch and sniff…” The pot-bellied man mumbled nonsensically beside her.
“Whoa, whoa, Riva…” The ten year old’s expression softened, “I was the one who found his brainless body… What do you mean you’re dead?”
“N-norma…she… t-told everyone I…”
“She thinks YOU’RE the mole?!” The child was taken aback, slightly angered even, “Why?!”
“I-I don’t know…M-maybe it’s because I didn’t notice the body before you…?” Riva sniffled, “It doesn’t matter… Agent Foresythe is going to have me detained…o-once she hears about this…”
“What?! No way!” He looked at her with determined eyes, “Don’t worry! I have a plan! I am going to get a new brain for Nick’s body, so he can let me into the mailroom office! Once I get there, I will be one step closer to proving you’re innocent!”
“Y-you really think… I-I’m innocent…?” Her tear filled blue eyes looked at him as if confused by his faith in her.
“I know you are!” He nodded, “Hey! Can you watch Ford for me until I get back? Make sure he doesn’t go anywhere!”
“F-ford…?” The other intern’s eyes narrowed at that name, as if she were squinting to see through a thick fog, “Ford…why does… Oh! Ford Cruller, right… He’s one of the psychic 6…” She shook her head, “Sorry, I am just…all over the place… These panic attacks take a lot out of me…”
“It’s all going to be okay.” The younger of the two gently took the other’s hand, waving to Nick before walking up to the office room, “Agent Cruller! This is my friend! She works in the mailroom—!”
“If she isn’t senior staff, that door ain’t openin’!” Ford declared before the boy could finish.
“Oh, I know!” Raz nodded, “This is Riva. She is having a hard time right now, and I don’t want to leave her alone. Maybe you two could talk or something?”
“Eh?! Oh, sure…sure thing…” The senior sounded slightly jostled for a moment, before returning to his distant demeanor, “Chit chat makes the sortin go faster…”
“Great!” The boy smiled at Riva before racing up to the exit of the mailroom, “I’ll be back as soon as possible!”
Soon after the sound of footsteps and levitation bubbles faded, the remaining intern heard the door creak open.
“Riva…” Cruller’s voice sounded slightly shaken, “I… Is it really you…?”
“S-sir…?” She frowned, “I-I don’t think we’ve met before…”
“Ah… I shoulda known you would’ve repressed it all…” He looked at the floor grimly, “They feared what you could become if you knew…”
“…W-what…?” The teen stepped away as the agent stepped closer, reaching a hand out to her. Eventually, she was against a wall.
“You…really were damaged by the feedback…weren’t you, kid…?” His bushy eyebrows furrowed in concern, “Back at Whisperin Rock… you remember that place, right…?”
Oh, that summer camp she got kicked out of only mere days in because she wasn’t even a real psychic?
“Yes, that’s the one.” Cruller answered her thoughts telepathically, “Except… you are psychic, Riva… Always have been… They just wanted you to believe you weren’t…so they could let you go back to society…”
Go…back…? Why wouldn’t she have been allowed to be in society if she was psychic? Isn’t that what the psychonauts are all about?
“You had potential, unlike what Nein Vodello and myself had ever seen from such a young mind… until Raz showed up, of course, but he was slightly older than you were…” He finally grabbed both of her hands, encasing them in his own, “You had such a gift with clairvoyance… it was beyond what the psychonauts ever thought was possible…”
“W-Wait…” She blinked, “You know Raz then? Why didn’t you just let him in the office…?”
“He’s not ready to learn the dark truths I’ve got tucked away in this old noggin…” The old man sighed, “I-I’m not ready for em, either… but… you are. You need to know the truth about yourself… You need to stop disregarding me when I say this: You ARE psychic…”
“B-BUT I’M NOT!” Riva tried to pull her hands away from him, to which he gently released them from their hold, “T-THAT CAMP WAS THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME! I THOUGHT I WOULD FIND SOMEWHERE I BELONGED, THAT I WAS GOOD FOR SOMETHING! B-but… I wasn’t… I-I was so full of myself to think I was special! M-My brains just BROKEN—“
“Stop it right there.” His voice became firmer, “Listen to me, before someone comes! Your potent clairvoyance meant we didn’t need any altering technology to convince you of a lie… You are so in tune with other people’s viewpoints and perspectives… you don’t even know what your reality is anymore… Other people tell you who you are, what you do, where you go. No more playin pretend, Riva.”
“I-I…b-but…”
“You were a psychic of high potential even at age 7, with budding specialities in clairvoyance, and hydrokinesis….” He smiled, “You… you made friends with every single piece of me, kid… I took you under my wing to teach you what I knew… but hydrokinesis… was a feared ability due to…well… another incident... When that secret spilled…”
“N-no… I-I can’t be… I-I don’t remember any of this!“
“Nein feared that your age, your diagnosis of autism, both combined with your psychic potential could result in you developing powerful abilities beyond even your own control…” Ford shook his head, “Headquarters wanted to lock ya up for observation in a psychoisolation facility for life… but, Sasha found a loophole. By having someone tell you that their biased perspective was reality, your brain would doubt its own perception, and start to believe them. That’s how we managed to let you leave that campsite with your family…”
By this point Riva was speechless, as countless memories she thought she had selfishly dreamed about returned to her. She fell to her knees, staring at nothing as she was flooded with all that she had forgotten. The ruthless bullying at camp, and their sabotaging of her efforts to learn to use her powers… That time they tried to drown her in the lake and she washed them all ashore on accident… the horror on everyone’s faces… It all actually happened?!
There were some happy things hidden in the mess, though… The time she’d spend drawing the wildlife out there, the cool places to explore… and the single friend she made at camp… That’s right, the cook was always there to comfort her after the other kids picked on her… No, wait, it was the ranger… But then why’d she remember a janitor, and a man watching over the canoes…? Why did they all look the same, identical even…? Then there was one more in a psychonauts uniform…
“There ya go. Now you’re getting it…” His frail hand grabbed one of hers, helping her up with a chuckle. “I should look more familiar to ya now, eh?”
She made eye contact again, and felt so stupid for not noticing this before. Riva always had an interest in the psychonauts, because they seemed like they could tolerate different minds. If her family could afford it, she would even read True Psychic Tales, mainly because she admired the illustrations. How could she not realize she knew Ford “The Founder Of This Whole Place” Cruller until now?!
Yet, at the same time, she felt her eyes water. It was nice to know she had a friend back then, even if he was old enough to be her grandpa. She didn’t say a word, and extended her free arm as an invitation…for something she definitely needed and wouldn’t want to get from Nick. The agent understood, and they hugged for a brief moment. She felt like this had happened before.
“I-I… I’m glad to see you, Mr. Cruller, b-but…” She quickly shifted back to worrying, “I-I am not in the best situation to do much of anything regarding the truth right now… I know Norma is telling Hollis I am the spy in the psychonauts… I-I am going to get locked up in the end anyway… T-they didn’t believe me before… Why would they believe me now—?”
He was gone.
The intercom sounded, with Hollis’ sharp voice ringing out, “Would Riva Beckons please come to the main area IMMEDIATELY!”

Series masterlist // next part
Y/N stood outside the door of the round table room of the Ivory. Dread coursed through her as she waited to speak to Tony. Desperation was driving her and Y/N knew that if she stopped moving even for a moment, she would break. All she had to do was sign her name on the contract and then she could breakdown. Finally, the door opened and she was surprised to see that there was a group of people waiting for her inside. George sat at the head of the table with Tony and Pepper to his left, Barney on his right and Bucky and Steve filled out the remaining chairs. Everyone turned to look at her when she walked in. Y/N took a deep breath. This lie needed to be sold or she was in trouble, “I need to apologize for my behavior yesterday. The shock of it all hit and I didn’t handle it well. I took yesterday to calm down and think about it. I’ve decided that this union is a good idea. That is, if Steve is still willing.” She turned to Tony, “Dad, as much as it pains me to admit, you were right. He is a good man. I’ve been known as an irresponsible girl whose head is in the clouds. I need to prove that I’ve matured and this could be a step in the right direction.”  No one spoke as Pepper scoffed and glared at Tony as she left the room, the door slamming on her way out.
Steve stood up and grabbed Y/N by the arm, she winced as he hit exactly where Brock had grabbed her the day before, “We need to talk.” He pulled her out of the room, “You’ve been avoiding me for three days. We slept together and the next morning you ran out of that hotel room without a word. Yesterday, you announced in front of multiple people that there was no chance in hell that you would ever marry me. What the hell is going on, Birdie?”
Her nails dug into her palm, “It’s like I said. I took the day and thought it over. I’m not leaving again, Steve… I can’t. This marriage has been in the works since I was 17 and it’s a way to show that I’m not little Birdie Stark anymore. I’m not the problem child that you got saddled with as punishment. Clearly, you want it or you wouldn’t have agreed the second time and I think I could be happier with you than anyway else I’ve ever met. So, please, don’t give up on me now… Please.”
Steve looked down at Y/N. He could see the mistiness in her eyes, but he could also see that she was being genuine. He just nodded and they went back into the office. No one spoke as they both signed the contract that had been drawn up. Before the ink had dried, Tony was pulling out a celebratory drink. When Steve turned to hand one to his new fiancee, he realized she had left the room. He put the glasses down and went to look for her. He found her outside talking to Pepper and decided not to intrude.
Tumblr media
As soon as everyone’s attention was taken, Y/N had gone after Pepper. She found her outside the building and called to her. “Mom, I’m sorry.”
Pepper held up a hand to stop her, “Don’t you dare apologize. It’s your father that is to blame for this. None of this would have happened if he hadn’t interfered. You wouldn’t have left the first time and you wouldn’t feel the need to prove yourself by marrying someone you don’t want to.”
“Oh, Mom… you can’t just blame Dad for all of that. There were so many other reasons I left.” The image of Brock leaning against the car haunted her. “Yes, he was part of it, but not all of it. I’m not just marrying Steve to prove myself. I know you imagined us finding our soulmates like you did with Dad. But, I don’t believe in the One. I believe that Steve and I can make each other happy and I’ve been stuck in a rut for a really long time. He and Jamie make me happy in a way I haven’t been in years. It’s not a great love story, but it’s a good future. One that lets me keep all of you with me and that’s all I want.”
Pepper reached up to cup Y/N’s face, “I just don’t want you to sacrifice because you think you deserve less.”
“Mom, it’s too late for regrets and all I want is to know I have your support, because I can not plan a wedding.” Pepper laughed at that and Y/N knew she managed to distract her mother from her anger. “Don’t be mad at Dad for too long. For all of his stupid mistakes, he really is doing what he thinks is best.”
Tumblr media
The weeks following the contract being signed was exhausting. They had immediately started plans. This wedding was happening quickly, before Becca and Sam’s wedding could even happen. Planning this wedding was a nightmare for Y/N. The planner was the most odious person she’d ever had the misfortune of meeting. The woman’s hand had stayed on Steve’s arm the entire first meeting and cemented her as persona non grata in Y/N’s mind.
Pepper had invited her for a meeting at the Ivory They sat at one of the tables in the solarium. “So color scheme for the wedding?”
“Lime green and orange.”
Y/N heard Pepper sigh next to her, “Jewel tones: burgundy, emerald, navy blue.”
“Lovely,” the wedding planner simpered, “Do you have a date in mind?”
“March is the hope, but we don’t have a specific date in mind.”
“Well we can look at a few locations and see if their availability will help narrow that down. Unless, you have a place in mind?”
“No, this wedding is a blank slate.”
Y/N was zoned out, as her mother planned the wedding. Finally, she couldn’t stand it any longer and pushed her chair back, “I forgot I told Steve that I would stop into his office. Mom, you know what I like.” She escaped from the table and hurried up to his office. She threw the doors open, “Can we elope?”
Steve’s eyes didn’t even leave the document he was reading. This was not the first time they’d had a similar discussion, “Sweetheart, I’ve told you before. No.”
“Please,” Y/N slinked over and perched herself on the corner of his desk, “The wedding planner is the worst!”
He sighed and put the papers he was reading down. He looked up her, amusement shining in his eyes, “Are you sure you’re not jealous?”
She gasped in outrage, “Jealous! Why would I be jealous?”
“Because she kept touching my arm when we first met her and I thought you were going to rip her hand off.” She hated that he had caught that moment of weakness. They had kissed a few times since signing the contract, but they hadn’t slept together since the party. He gave her a quick kiss, “I kind of liked that you were jealous.”
Y/N pouted, her bottom lip sticking out, “I want a divorce.”
“Need to be a good girl and marry me first.” She whimpered and finally Steve shoved aside his work, giving her his whole attention, “You know for someone who is as bad at following rules as you are, calling you a good girl really seems to do something to you.”
Y/N hopped off his desk trying to put some distance between them, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Oh really? So when I said that to you, I didn’t see you get all flustered? Just like you are right now?” Steve stood up and moved behind her. He wrapped one arm around her waist and kissed along her bare neck, watching as goosebumps blossomed. He smirked and leaned close to her ear and dropped his voice, so that it was thick like honey, “You don’t want to be a good girl for me, Birdie?”
Y/N whimpered softly and a shiver ran down her spine as his voice rolled over her. She felt his lips brush along her neck and the ability to think was gone.
“I – I,” She dropped her head back, giving Steve unlimited access to her, “Oh, I can’t think when you do that.”
“Let’s make a deal, sweetheart. You give me some answers and I promise I’ll make it worth your while.
“Okay, but I can't guarantee you’ll like the answers I have to give.
He smirked at her defiance, “Were you jealous?”
“Yes.”
“Were you telling me the truth about that dinner I made two nights ago? Was it good?”
She snickered, “No, it was awful. I’ll cook from now on.”
Steve decided to try and see if he could get some answers to questions that plagued him. He switched his tune and spun her around so that she was standing between his thighs, “What happened to make you run from the hotel?”
Y/N played with the buttons on his shirt, avoiding his gaze, “Becca called me Jamie’s mom and it freaked me out. I don’t know if I can be a good parent and I don’t want to replace his mother. I know that she’s dead, but still.”
“First of all, you are an amazing mother to Jamie. Take it from someone who actually had no experience with kids, you are miles ahead of where I was. You love him and care for him and I trust you completely with him.” Y/N kissed Steve, her hand curling into his hair. They separated, but he kept on hand on her back, “One more question. Where were you for the last three years?”
She stiffened and he watched her mask fall into place, “I told you. I went to a lot of places.
“What happened to you? The full story.”
Y/N shrugged him off and stepped away from him, “Rogers, don’t do this.”
“You need to talk to someone.”
“I have, just not the people who continue to push me and piss me off.”
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, “You deserve to be happy, Birdie.
“I am happy…Look, I can’t keep spending my life sad because some shit has happened in my past. I want to enjoy the life I have. Spend my days with my family, and be there for you and Jamie. I don’t want to be sad and broken.
You’re not sad or broken,” Steve tucked her hair behind her ear, “But there's a difference between moving on and avoiding.”
“I’m not avoiding shit. I’ve always told the truth about what’s happened to me.”
Steve stared at her incredulously, “The whole truth?” Y/N stiffened and nodded at him. If her eyes could kill, he would died a hundred times over. “The whole entire truth? You’re not hiding something deep down?”
“I’ve told everyone everything they need to know about where I’ve been and about my ex.
Steve chuckled humorlessly and started walking towards Y/N, “You’re so careful, you know?”
Her stomach was is knots, “Careful?”
“Yes. You never say his name. Only ‘my boyfriend’ or ‘my ex.’ This anticipation is killing me. Why are you protecting him even after all this time?”
“I’m not protecting him. Maybe I just don’t want all the possessive guys around me to get even worse. Maybe... just maybe, it’s not your business.”
Steve groaned at her stubbornness and kissed along her neck, turning her legs to jelly. “Come on, be a good girl. You’re going to be my wife. Just give me a name, Birdie.”
Y/N knew his game and it still took all of her strength to pull away, “Oh no. You’re not using that against me.”
“Sweetheart, I am trying to get you to open up to me. Getting you to share is like Bucky and Sam trying to have an intelligent conversation. You’ve got so many walls up and every time I think I’ve broken one down, two more are put up. I'm just trying to understand you.”
She shoved his chest, “If you want to understand, just be there. Make me believe you’re worth it. Don’t seduce me into getting your way. Help me understand that you won’t leave when it gets tough.
“What, like you did?” Y/N reeled back when Steve said that.
“I’m trying to make up for that.”
“Then tell me what is going on with you.”
She opened her mouth, but no words came out. Her mind was swirling, “No, Steve! No! You don’t get to guilt me into this. This is not fair to me. Will you do this every time I don’t act how you want? Is my leaving some ploy you’ll use to get what you want? That’s not the actions of someone I want to share with. I want to tell you everything because I trust you to understand and not because I think it’ll make you forgive me faster… I—I need to go.”
“Birdie…”
“I need space from all of this. Get my head on straight. I’ll see you later.” Y/N was out the door, before he could stop her.
Her phone was vibrating like crazy and she finally looked at it. Messages from an unknown number had filled the screen:
I meant what I said when you’re all mine.
You belong to me and to HYDRA.
Maybe the Families will get some anonymous intel on where you’ve been
Can Steve Rogers really give you all I did?
Do you cry his name out like you did mine?
What will Daddy Stark say about his little whore of a daughter?
Are you so stupid that you think marrying Rogers will protect you?
What Y/N didn’t know was that George was tracking her phone and was seeing every message she got. It didn’t take long for him to get the information he needed. Brock Rumlow: the reason Y/N Parker-Stark was broken. HYDRA had gotten closer and done more damage than anyone else knew.

Will Never be Boring
Ch 3: A Weekend in Blue
Once they made middle school being a grade above everyone wasn’t s bad. They had a little more control over their classes and the electives were all mixed grades so he still had a chance to be with his friends. Understandably they all tried to match up. He wound up with a lot more creative type classes than he originally planned for. Connor wasn’t particularly creative. He preferred numbers and provable things, but getting to spend a little of his time with Markus everyday more than made up for it. Over the years Markus had added painting to his talents, and Connor was always blown away by the sheer amount of feeling in them. He always seemed delighted when he got to see Connor’s child like messy drawings in turn. Personally, he despised them. Middle school brought more work with it so it became more difficult to hang out as an entire group. They began to section off a little and it left Connor feeling strangely. He had always thought the group of them would stay close. It wasn’t like there was fighting or anything, they were just drifting. His dad said these kinds of things happened sometimes, and that they would come back together eventually.
Markus made a few of his own friends, but in all of that he tried not to leave Connor behind. He knew Markus’s birthday was coming up and Connor was trying to figure out what to do for it. He wasn’t very creative so a homemade card or poem was immediately out of the question. That left using his saved up allowance to buys something, or giving up. He did his best to come away with something that wasn’t overly predictable, and failed horribly. He eventually decided on a book of advanced painting techniques and a new paint set to go with it. Better than the sketchbook he’d originally been debating, but not great. In the end it didn’t really seem to matter much because he wasn’t invited to the birthday party. The only people that got to go were the friends from his various art classes, which Connor found strange. Connor tried to be reasonable about it. He wasn’t very comfortable around Markus’s new friends. Maybe he had been trying to respect that. It didn’t lessen the sting, but this made it easier not to be upset. He was sure Markus had a reason. In the years they had been friends he had never been to Markus’s house. The most of he knew of it was that he lived up on the hill where all of the nice houses were with his brother and his grandpa; though Connor had never met either of them.
It was about a week after the party, and after the gifts had made their home at the top of Connor’s closet, that Markus approached him about it. He looked just as uncomfortable as Connor felt. They hadn’t really talked since Connor’s birthday, and he had been trying his best to make peace with the fact that Markus was drifting away from him. Just like everyone else. “Hey Connor?” He asked once they were settled in their art class, “Can. uh, can we talk please?” He looked down and tapped his fingers against the table to try and get rid of some of his nervous energy, “Are you sure you want to talk to me? Why not talk to your other friends?” Markus was quiet for a long moment and Connor realized that he might have been a little harsh. “Because,” He said eventually, “They aren’t the ones I hurt without meaning to. I’d like a chance to explain myself if you’ll let me.” It was is turn to be quiet this time. In part because their teacher was talking and he didn’t want to draw attention to himself; and because he wasn’t sure he was ready to learn that Markus had outgrown him too. “Okay.” He said quietly, “If you want to.”
“Will you listen, or are you still upset?” He asked and waited for Connor’s tentative nod before he continued, “I know I probably should have said this before the party and I’m sorry for that; but I didn’t invite you because I knew you would be uncomfortable. As much as I wanted you there, I couldn’t invite you knowing you would be miserable if I did.” He explained, “My plan had been to have that party last weekend, and one for just the two of us this weekend. Um, if you, well if you still want to anyway.” Connor could have cried, but he wasn’t about to have a breakdown in class, “Of course I still want to.” Then, after he had collected himself a little more, “I’m sorry for being rude.” “It’s fine. I’m just glad you aren’t upset with me anymore.” He smiled. Just like that, things were back to normal. Markus had his other friends, but he also didn’t seem to have plans to leave Connor behind. The weight of wondering where he had gone wrong that had been threatening to bury him was finally off his shoulders. He could breathe again. When he got home the first thing he did was try to wrap the presents he had bought Markus. Just this once, his homework could wait.
A single interaction with one of Markus’s art friends was all the proof Connor needed. While Echo was very kind, she was also very touchy and Connor was immediately uncomfortable. She stopped when he asked her to, but he still chose to excuse himself from the interaction. He was glad now, that Markus had thought to keep him away from this. As he headed to the library he heard one last thing. “I don’t think your seventh-grader friend likes me much.” Echo told Markus, “Did I do something wrong?” “No.” Markus said kindly, “It just takes him a while to warm up to people.” He supposed that was true enough. He was just wary. Kids his age were loud for whatever reason and it got to be too much a lot of the time. It was just easier to keep his distance and wait for someone to come to him. He still felt a little guilty though, Echo had only been trying to be nice. Maybe on a day when he had more spoons he could try again, and just try and stay out of arm’s reach or something. He hadn’t meant to hurt her feelings and he wanted to fix it.
Friday he came to school with an extra bag. Inside were the things he needed for the weekend and the presents he had gotten for Markus. He was equal parts excited and nervous. He hadn’t gotten to meet Markus’s family and he was worried they might not like him. The plan was to ride Markus’s bus at the end of the day and then again on Monday morning. Of course, if he got uncomfortable he could always call his dad to come get him, or walk home if it came to that. Perks of living in the same neighborhood he supposed. It wasn’t that he expected things to go wrong, it just eased his anxiety to know that he had a way out if he needed one. Markus seemed to understand which was nice. Since it was their first big weekend like this, Markus had helped him come up with a color system. Blue meant things were fine; yellow meant that he needed a moment to himself to try and get it together; and red meant it was time to go home. He hoped he wouldn’t have to use red, but just like his exit plan, it was a nice thing it have in case he needed it.
The day passed faster than he would have liked and he wasn’t ready for the sheer number of the kids on the bus. His bus was usually pretty crowded, but never like this. It made a little more sense why their neighborhood had three different buses now. “Color?” Markus asked s they settled in one of the seats toward the back. “Blue.” He replied. He hadn’t been expecting this many kids, but he was okay for now, “I’m alright.” Markus took his hand and squeezed it, “You can always listen to your music if you need to, that’s what I do sometimes.” “I might.” He replied, but for now he wanted to try and stick it out for as long as he could. He managed about half of the ride before he had to put on his noise cancelling headphones or risk having a panic attack. It wasn’t that anything in particular had happened, the constant chatter had just grated on his nerves more than he planned. His bus wasn’t exactly quiet, that was categorically impossible for middle schoolers, but he was used to his bus and not this one. Markus only squeezed his hand again and then let him be until it was time to get off. He was thankful to be free of all that noise.
“How do you deal with that every single day?” He asked after he had taken his headphones off. Markus gave a nonchalant shrug, “I’ve lived with Leo my whole life. They aren’t any louder than him on any given day.” “I suppose that helps.” He said distantly, he wasn’t ready to deal with more noise so soon after the bus. “You don’t have to worry about him though.” He replied, “He’s got plans tonight at least. It’s just going to be the two of us and my Grampa tonight, so the house should be pretty quiet today.” That was reassuring at least, “Okay. Is your Grandpa nice?” Markus actually laughed at that as they turned up a long walkway, “Yes, he is. You don’t have to worry about anything Connor, I promise.” “Got it.” He said, but he still took Markus’s hand. They were quiet the rest of the walk to the door. Connor was trying his best to relax. Markus said there was nothing to worry about, and Connor wanted to believe him, but his anxiety wasn’t as easily swayed. “Color?” Markus asked when they got to the door. “Blue.” He replied after a long moment, “I think.”
That seemed to be a good enough answer because Markus turned his key in the lock and pushed the door open. Along side being the biggest house Connor had ever seen, it was also the fanciest. Despite all of that, as he stood in the entry way with Markus’s hand in his, he didn’t feel at all out of place. “Grampa,” Markus called into the house, “We’re home.” “Okay kiddo,” Came the reply from further in the house, “I’m in the gallery.” Connor took off his shoes out of habit before they went any further into the house. Markus didn’t, but waited for him before he lead him up the stairs. They set their stuff up in Markus’s room before they headed for the gallery. The more he saw of the house, the more in awe of it he was. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting Markus’s grandpa to be like, but it didn’t include him being covered in tattoos or wheelchair bound. He did his best not to stare, and instead tried to look at the paintings that were scattered around the room. Some were properly placed on the walls, but most were leaned against the walls, furniture and even other paintings. Every single one of them took his breath away. He knew now at least where Markus’s sheer talent came from.
“You must be Connor.” He said with a smile as he wheeled himself closer, “I’ve heard great things about you. I’m Carl.” “It’s nice to meet you sir.” He replied and shook the hand that was being held out to him. Carl laughed, “Sir makes me feel old, just call me Carl, or Grampa if that’s easier on you.” “Okay si - Carl.” His trip up earned him an amused smile, “Did you paint all of these?” “Most of them.” He replied, “Some of them are Markus’s.” “Grampa,” Markus cut in, “He doesn’t know.” “I don’ t know what?” Connor asked as he looked between the two of them. “Grampa is the famous painter Carl Manfred.” He clarified. “Was.” Carl corrected with a sternness to his voice that left Connor a little rattled, “I haven’t done much public work since my accident. I’d like to keep it that way, so this knowledge stays in this room. Okay?” Connor made a zipper motion over his lips and both of them smiled, “Okay.”
They stayed in the gallery for a little while longer and Connor wandered around to get a better look at the paintings. After that the night was pretty normal. They had dinner, worked on homework, and talked about their classes with Carl. It was almost like being at home. This wasn’t nearly as nerve wracking as he thought it was going to be. After they had gone to Markus’s room for the night Connor got the presents out. He didn’t miss the smile that came to Markus’s face. “Before you worry,” He started when he noticed Markus was starting to look uncomfortable, “I bought these before your birthday.” He relaxed noticeably, “Okay, that’s what I was worried about.” “Anyway, happy late birthday Markus.” He picked up the two wrapped presents and held them out to him. Markus took them and Connor watched the joy spread across his face when he opened the reference book and thumbed through it. His smile only grew when he got yo he small paint set. He set the paints on his desk then put the book in a very specific place on his shelf. When he finished he settled beside Connor still beaming. “Can I hug you?” He asked.
“Yeah.” Connor had barely gotten the word out before he found himself caught in an embrace that was tight enough that it bordered on painful. “Thank you so much.” Markus said into his shoulder, “These are the only art related present I’ve gotten that weren’t from Grampa.” “What can I say” He replied as Markus pulled away, “I know you.” “You panicked didn’t you?” He asked. “Maybe.” He agreed. The weekend after that was spent with Connor sitting very still. Despite the fact that he was coerced into modeling for the two of them by Markus, he found himself hoping that Monday never came. Or at the very least, they could have a weekend like this again soon.

Bio-dad Bruce -meeting there Justice League
Marinette and Bruce walked around for a bit but they ended up at a different park. During the walk they kept the conversation very light. He made a phone call when they sat down to have food delivered after checking her preferences. She didn't even know that places would deliver to a park but she still was under the impression based on everything she knew about him that money wasn't a concern for him. He did seem to put her comfort as to priority, including eating outdoors where she wouldn't feel trapped by the location or too near her house where they might be seen and people wanting an explanation.
"From what I gather, Damian made an attempt to see you earlier and hopefully apologized." Bruce said.
"He came by my lycée as I was heading to lunch. He's a real sweet heart."
"Damian? Never thought I'd hear him described like that."
"Yeah. Like those candies for Valentine's day. You get really excited that you got candy but when you bite into it you realize it's chalk."
Bruce probably shouldn't have chosen that moment to be taking a drink. As she finished her statement he let out a laugh when he was attempting to swallow and it took a moment for him to regain his composure and stop coughing. He spoke once he was able to.
"Damian came to me 7 years ago. He was raised much differently than many. He was not taught to consider the feelings of others unless it presented him with an advantage."
"He told me he was there to apologize."
"That's great!"
"That was his apology. He didn't have anything else to add."
"Okay, less great." Bruce said. "Perhaps we should focus on something else. You looked very excited earlier. Did you get news? Can you tell me?"
Marinette's eyes lit up when she spoke, "I did. I entered a competition a few weeks ago. I just heard back that I'm a finalist."
That's amazing. Was it a fashion competition?"
"Yeah. Put on by some of the fashion schools in the city and open to lycée students in Paris and the surrounding areas. They are having a fashion show as part of the competition."
"Is it open to the public? I would like to be there."
Her pause before she answered hung in the air. But after considering she gave him the information about the fashion show. He told her he wasn't planning on connecting her to him unless that was something she was ready for. But even then, he very hesitantly asked if he could take a picture with her before they headed in their separate ways. They got together close as he took a selfie of them that he promised wouldn't go beyond his immediate family.
---
Marinette was floating in a cloud when she headed into school. She had kept her results secret but told Alya she had news. She arrived very early for class but Alya was already there waiting. Marinette was actually surprised by how many people were there more than 20 minutes before classes started, maybe that is why she always seemed to be behind in the gossip. She usually only showed up soon enough to get to her locker and say hi to a couple people as she headed to class.
As Marinette was rushing over to the group she did a quick twirl to show how elated she was. Luckily she didn't fall over after but the delay made Alya impatient to know her big news, even if she suspected the topic. Marinette held up her envelope but it wasn't immediately recognizable as from the fashion competition because it was a much fancier envelope.
"What is it? Are those your results? Lila's didn't look like that. She showed me hers yesterday. I didn't even know she entered."
"This is it." Marinette said. "I'm a finalist. It says there were over 500 submissions and they chose 50 finalists that have a chance at the summer program."
"That is great. Lila's said she was chosen but they might have to do it remotely for her since she is traveling over the summer. I hope you are chosen for it too."
"They didn't mention that in my letter. They showed the category breakdown for the presentations. Do you know what time she is presenting hers on the runway?"
"It didn't list a time. I kinda thought that the fashion show was for the people who didn't get into the program."
"It says in my letter they will announce at the end of the show. It makes it sound like it should be the 12 who were accepted being announced at midnight."
They walked on to class but Marinette wondered how Lila was going to fake the rest of the winning entry. She probably didn't even enter or got in the lowest group. Marinette had long since given up questioning anything Lila said. She still thought Adrien was wrong about the approach that he was taught to use with the press but being in a larger school with a larger variety of students took the pressure off and Marinette was able to deal with her easier or less often anyway.

Ladybug and Chat Not met at the Eiffel Tower, but this wasn't a typical meeting. They had heard from the Justice League again and they wanted to make adjustments to their previous arrangement. Their first contact had been after they had been using their miraculi for a few months. They were given a way to get ahold of one of the members in Paris but they were staying out of it unless requested since they were using the same variety of magic.
They traveled together across the rooftops so they would arrive together as partners. This meeting was not with a low level go between like they met before. They brought in Batman and Wonder Woman. Whatever they had said before about trusting Ladybug and Chat Noir to handle the situation had changed drastically. They split up as they arrived and did a sweep of the rooftops. Ladybug waved to the lookout across from her who gave a little wave back. Chat Noir blew a kiss to another but the recipient was not amused.
They landed on the ground near to an exit by foot and way to get to a roof top easily. They did not expect the Justice League to be a danger to them but being prepared and having a plan was their only safe play. The Justice League group had 4 teens introduced and Ladybug and Chat Noir introduced themselves.
Wonder Woman took charge of the meeting explaining that while they had initially planned to leave them as they were, news had reached them that their mentor, the Guardian, was no longer around and many of their allies had been publicly revealed.
They talked for a time recommending that the 4 younger members, Kid Flash, Robin, Wonder Girl and Superboy, join them to assist for the time being and that they would reassess later. The Miraculous users were grateful for the help, Ladybug especially had felt overwhelmed by the addition of the guardianship. They did draw the line at revealing themselves as requested.
"I believe you when you say you are here to help, but secrecy has been out to priority aside from recovering the misused miraculi." Ladybug said.
"We think there could be many benefits to knowing more about each other than the mask you wear." Batman said.
"I'm gonna have to follow her lead on this one. I would love to know who she is but you guys are all new and we know nothing about you." Chat Noir weighed in.
"You do not even know who your partner is?" asked Wonder Girl.
"That seems excessively unwise," Robin said.
"I have considered changing that since taking on the guardianship. I think many things could have been done differently." Ladybug said.
"You question your mentor?" Wonder Woman said.
"It's hard to determine whether changes would have been an improvement. But for now we will consider revealing ourselves once we know you better. The magic is too powerful to take such a risk with a new friendship."
That answer seemed to appease everyone. It was agreed that they would take turns working with other members on different nights so they would have an idea how they worked and thought before there was the idea of a battle. The Parisians also guided then to the best apps for alerts and places for additional information they might want.
**I have no plans to go super anti-Lila or lie reveal but mentions of her behavior send to fit. Actually I have very little plan for the characters/active that aren't directly related to the next few prompts. I'm just making it up as I go and hoping it works

Chapter Eleven: Bottled Up
"Claudia," Erik called. "I'm bored,"
We were sitting in Central Park where I sat on a bench enjoying the fall season of New York. The sound of children playing freely with their parents was all around me, and I couldn't help but to wish that was the childhood I had. So carefree, so normal.
"And what does that have to do with me?" I asked, too immersed in my reading to look up.
"I'd figured that maybe you would entertain me," Erik suggested.
I rolled my eyes and chuckled before I continued my reading, switching from both hands holding the novel to my left hand holding it open as I bit the nail of my right thumb.
"If you wanted entertainment, you should have stayed with Moira and Charles to watch the musicians playing," I reminded dryly, finally looking up from my book and turning my head to follow the sound violins being played beautifully.
They played Bach and Handel, then they moved to Mozart, and then they played some pieces that I was unable to identify, possibly compositions of their own. Their fingers moved as if they were dancing over the necks of the violins, the notes filled the air. The sound of high pitched laughter broke the daze I had gone into and my eyes darted to the source of it. A smile graced my lips as I watched a group of children playing tag with each other.
Erik followed my gaze, "How you ever thought about it?" he asked, looking over at me.
"Thought about what?" I asked back, turning my head to him.
"Having children of your own?"
"Maybe," I answered, slightly shrugging my shoulders. "If the world wasn't so cruel," I continued, sighing heavily. "I wouldn't want to raise my child in an environment that hates them the moment they're born," I added, shaking my head. "What about you? Do you want children?" I questioned, closing my copy of The Great Gatsby.
"I do," Erik answered, and I raised my eyebrows in shock.
"Boy or girl?" I asked again, turning my body to face him.
"Girl,"
"Aww, who knew that someone like Erik Lehnsherr would want a little baby girl," I teased, a smile on my face and Erik just rolled his eyes at me. "She'll be in good hands and well taken care of, she'll have a better childhood than the both of us," I proposed, nodding my head with a grin.
We sat in silence for a moment, Erik, I could feel him watching me, but I was too preoccupied by staring off into space, chewing on my bottom lip. Thinking of what could have been with my own family.
"Bombing aside," Erik began pulling me back to reality. "Did you have a happy childhood?" he asked, draping his arm over the back of the park bench, his body now facing my own.
"Bombing aside," I repeated, cocking my head to the side. "I would say I had a decent childhood," I corrected. "Until I was seven," I remembered, my hand closing and forming a fist.
"What happened when you were seven?"
"I found out that I was different from most kids," I stated quietly, a tight-lipped smile appearing on my face.
A high pitched squeal escaped from my mouth as I kicked the ball back to my dad before I ran around our small backyard the grass tickling my feet. A wide smile on my face as my bare feet hit the cool green surface, my toes digging into the earth. A bright yellow spot caught my eye, surrounded by a sea of green grass. I forced myself to slow down and stopped at the yellow dot, bending down I realized it was a dandelion. My grin grew wider and I snatched it from the ground, raising up from the ground I turned to the back porch where my mom and grandma were residing.
"Mama, look!" I yelled, proudly displaying my dandelion.
Mama lifted her head up from the sleeping of bundle of my sister and smiled at me, "That's so pretty, Claudia!" Mama cheered, and I nodded my head vigorously in agreement.
"Claudia watch out!" Daddy shouted.
I turned my head immediately to the sound of his voice and the ball we had been kicking was on a straight path to my face. I let out a shriek and threw my hands out to protect myself. And just like that, it seemed like time froze. I peeked behind my raised arms and gasped, the ball hadn't hit me, instead the ball was suspended in midair surrounded in a pretty shade of violet. Confused, I lowered my arms and was shocked to see the ball slowly coming closer to the ground as I moved my arms down; I was controlling whatever force held it. I lowered the ball to the ground gently, before releasing the force around the ball.
"Mama, Daddy! Did you see what I did?" I asked excitedly.
No one answered me. It was dead quiet and I swallowed nervously, as I looked at my parents and Grandma. Mama had her hand covering her mouth and her eyes were wide open, filling up with tears. Seconds later Daddy was at my side. Grandma got to her knees, before clasping her hands together and began praying quietly.
"Claudia, what did you do?" Mama asked, in the most frightened tone I had ever heard her use.
"I knew my parents were horrified, even my father, although he never let it show. I mean why wouldn't he be. What I could do...it wasn't exactly normal behavior," I recalled, a mirthless laugh escaping my mouth.
"They didn't disown you, I hope?" Erik asked, a frown appearing on his face.
"Luckily, they didn't. Could you imagine throwing your seven year-old daughter out the house?" I speculated, knitting my eyebrows together. "That would be horrific!" I exclaimed.
"What did your parents do after witnessing your ability? How did they react?" Erik questioned.
"They told me they loved me regardless..." I trailed off.
Daddy knelt down in front of me and grasped my small shoulders, inspecting me closely, "Claudia…sweetheart…Mama and I want you to stay quiet about this. Alright?"
I frowned at what Daddy asked, "But why? It's amazing and so pretty!"
Mama knelt down beside Daddy and gave me a small, sad smile, "Yes, it is. But you have to understand something...sometimes...people get scared of things they don't understand," Mama explained gently.
I tilted my head to the side as I processed what Mama just said, "Why would people be scared?"
"That's hard to explain, honey. Personally...we don't know of anyone that has a...gift...like you do. If you showed others, they may react badly to it and they might hurt you," Mama tried to further explain to me.
I looked down at the ground. I had noticed Mama's hesitation about using the word gift. It made me wonder. "Are you scared of me now?"
At my question, both Mama and Daddy embraced me tightly. "No. No we're not," Daddy said with conviction.
"But you didn't believe them, did you?"
"You know what? I did actually. It was what my Grandma said that made questioned my parents true feelings about my mutation," I admitted.
"What did she say?"
"She told me that one day there will be a cure for me," I spat, recalling my Grandma's words. "I thought that would be the worst thing she would say to me, but oh how wrong I was," I went on, shaking my head.
"I take it you developed your empathic powers soon after," Erik guessed.
I nodded, "Two weeks had barely passed after my telekinetic incident, when I started to get these horrible headaches," I explained, my expression darkening. "That's when I began to pick up on emotions that weren't mine. I had told my parent's that I could feel their emotions as they passed through their minds. Of course, at first, they assumed I was playing around but after proving my talent to them both, they were shaken," I added.
I shook my head again, thinking back to how it had taken my family quite a while to get used to my empathy. To realize that a pain in your chest caused by the anguish that suddenly rose from no where was not your own, but someone else's. It was a violation in a way, and one that made my family hesitant to be near me.
"My grandma turned completely hostile toward me. In an attempt to get rid of me, my grandma suggested that they send me to psych ward because I was having a a mental breakdown," I stated, crinkling my noise in disgust while shaking my head. "God Erik, why did you ruin this beautiful day by making me recall my childhood," I groaned, running hand through my hair. "Now I actually need some entertainment," I mentioned, standing up from the wooden bench and walking away from him.
"Claudia, wait," Erik called, and I could hear his footsteps jogging behind me. "Come on, you know that was never my intention," he reasoned, falling in line with my stride.
Sighing, I looked over at him and nodded my head, "I know," I agreed. "You know I can be over dramatic," I breathed, my lips quirking up into a small smile.
A cool breeze blew through the trees of Central Park, bringing with it a flurry of freshly fallen leaves which stood a stark contrast to flocks of lively birds making their way steadily northward. My eyes scanned my surroundings, people were about the park as always, going about their business as only New Yorkers truly could.
"Erik," I began, sliding my book into my coat pocket. "Do you think I'm going crazy?" I asked randomly, facing him again
He cocked an eyebrow and laughed, "What? No," Erik answered, shaking his head with a smile. "I haven't seen one sign that you're losing your mind," he continued, his smile widening. "A strange question to ask Claudia, I have to say," Erik stated, with a chuckle.
I shrugged, "I have a feeling that Charles thinks I'm going crazy," I theorized, interlocking my fingers together behind my back.
"Don't be ridiculous Claudia," Erik grinned. "What would ever make you think that?" he inquired, letting out a hearty laugh.
"Why else do you think we took this impromptu trip here?" I pointed out, unlinking my fingers and sticking my hand in front of me. "He means wells, but all because I was distant two days ago, he's been like a mother hen," I complained, beginning to fiddle with the amber charm of my necklace. "Always watching me from over my shoulder and monitoring me. I haven't been able to really use my empathic powers because all Charles wants to do is focus on my telekinesis," I finished, a slight scowl appearing on my face.
"Here's a crazy thought, maybe he's just worried about you, Claudia," Erik replied sarcastically. "You have been a lot training these past two days, one would say too hard. You're not eating a lot, I noticed that you're up later than you usually are," he listed, ticking them off with his fingers. "Not to mention your temper has been shorter than usual," Erik remembered.
"I am not up late," I argued, knowing that the dark circles underneath my eyes I hid beneath my makeup showed all of the signs of restless night's sleep. "Nor have I been short of temper lately," I insisted, crossing my arms together.
"You cut your lights off at 11:00 pm on the dot every night. Recently, your lights have been on up until 1:00 am," Erik deadpanned, giving me a knowing look and my brow rose. "Yes, I've noticed that," he added, answering my silent question.
I really couldn't help myself from asking, "Oh, so you notice things about me?" I questioned grinning. "Because usually I have to tell you when you should look for something," I added, still grinning.
Erik rolled his eyes and laughed, "I notice things about everyone," he replied, and then looked at me slyly. "But I maybe paying some...extra attention to you,"
We proceeded down the walkway not sure where I wanted to go, but I wanted to be somewhere. I came across one of the many fountains in Central Park and lowered my hand into the water and ran the tips of my fingers over it. A thought crossed my mind and I lifted my hand, flicking water at Erik and drew back from the onslaught of the water droplets.
"You're such a child," Erik commented, his lips curving into a smile as he went to grab for my hand which I easily spun away from.
"I try to be," I smiled back.
I moved off the cement path and walked onto the seemingly endless lawn of the park. I made my way further onto the grass until we come near a thick grove of oak trees interspersed with some hearty pines. There were people spread out all over the field of all sorts, around the clearing's edges parents watched their children idly. Women read magazines or gossiped with one another while men ate their lunches or smoked amongst the trees, college students were laid on picnic blankets or throwing a football around.
Sticking my hand out I began to trace the rough bark of the tree next to me, beginning to walk in a circle. I closed my eyes and let my hand guide me around the tree, circling the tree twice in blissful content.
"May I ask what you're doing?" Erik asked, stopping me in my tracks and I opened my eyes, he was standing next to me, an amused expression painted on his face.
I glanced at him and smirked, "Whatever I want I suppose," I answered, continuing on my path around the tree.
Erik began to circle the tree as well only he went the opposite way, "And what is it that you want Miss Walker?" he inquired.
"I'm in need of some entertainment, just like you," I answered, turning around to meet Erik in front of the tree. He abruptly stopped once he saw me, our fingers brushed together momentarily before I leaned my back against the tree, looking at him with a mischievous grin.
"What are you about to do?"
"That man can't remember if it's his wife's birthday or their anniversary," I informed, still grinning.
I pointed to a bald middle-aged man who walked to the right of us with a confused, thoughtful look on his face.
Erik continued to look at me confused, "What?"
I slid my hands into my coat pockets jut as another gust of the autumn breeze swept past me, causing me to shiver and sigh contentedly as it ruffled my dark hair. I closed my eyes for a split second before opening them.
"That woman, over there? Found out that her boyfriend was cheating on her. Nice right hook, that one," I commented smirking, before shifting gaze away from the woman. "And that man..." I trailed off, as he happened to look back to where we were.
He was a tall, young man probably the same age I was, his blond hair was tousled most likely from the breeze which framed his blue eyes along with his square jaw. He shot me a wonky grin and I just smirked and wiggled my fingers giving him a small wave as I stared into his eyes, scrapping what I had originally planned to do and formulating a new way to have some fun.
"What are you doing?" Erik murmured from beside me.
"Just watch,"
Suddenly, the football he had been previously throwing came sailing back towards him and striking him on the back of the head. The man flinched and let out a groan of pain, rubbing the back of his head.
"Hey man, what the hell!" he exclaimed. His friend glanced over at me, seeing that I'm the reason why the blond-haired man didn't see the football coming. "Are you blind? Why didn't you hold the ball?" he asked angrily, storming over to his friend.
"Relax Aaron," the friend snickered. "Stop ogling at a girl and pay attention next time," he suggested, shrugging his shoulders.
"You've got a problem, Luke?" Aaron asked, getting up in his friend's face.
"No, I think you have a problem," Luke said, shoving Aaron away from him.
I turned my head to Erik, "Are you entertained?" I asked grinning proudly, and Erik let out a short laugh.
I suddenly became aware of another presence near me and my head turned and gazed up at Charles.
"There you two are, everyone was wondering where you had gone off to," Charles greeted, a relieved smile on his face. "What are you two doing?" he asked curiously, his eyes bouncing between Erik and I.
"Oh, we're just watching a bit of entertainment," I answered, a smirk on my face. "Right Erik?" I asked, glancing up at him.
"That would be correct," Erik confirmed.
Charles looked over at me and followed my gaze, watching the shoving match between the two men.
"Oh my God, Claudia please don't tell me this is your doing?" Charles questioned, his eyes back on me now.
I turned my head to Charles, his was mouth set in a firm grimace, "What can I say? We were bored," I explained nonchalantly, with a shrug.
"That's enough Claudia, you've had your fun now," Charles declared.
"Hold on Charles, I think she's onto something," Erik disagreed, raising his index finger up. "No one is even paying attention to them," Erik pointed out.
"I'll never not be amazed with my powers," I remarked, looking around at people going about their day not noticing the fight happening in front of their eyes. "A little inducement of calmness works wonders," I mused, folding my arms together.
Within a blink of the eye, Aaron swung his fist out and it connected with Luke's face, sending him to the ground.
"Hell of a right hook," I observed, as Aaron got on top of Luke to continue his pummeling.
"Claudia!"
"You know Erik, I once made a man punch himself," I informed, glancing over at him. "One night I had this drunk customer screaming in my face, and I grew angry enough that I imagined punching him, and he somehow punched himself," I recounted, thinking back to my diner job as a teenager.
"Impressive," Erik chuckled.
"You should see what happens when I sing, with my power," I boasted, walking ahead a little bit to get a closer look at the two men on the ground.
I went to take another step forward, but hand held me back, keeping a tight hold onto my wrist. I looked back to see who the culprit was just as the wind gently ruffled my hair as I met the stern stare of a dreamy blue-eyed familiar face.
"Claudia, stop it," Charles demanded, his voice dropping an octave.
Sighing, I finally gave in, "Fine," I agreed, turning my head back to the men and restored their peaceful state of mind.
Charles glanced at Erik and I for a moment, and we all share a look.
"Let's go," Charles ordered.
~~~x~~~
"Hey, do you know what's wrong with Charles?" Raven asked, as she pushed the barbell up and back onto the rack. "He's been upset ever since we came back from the park," she commented, maneuvering her way from under the bar and sitting up.
I paused mid crunch and relaxed, looking between my legs to look at Raven, "Yes," I answered, sitting up and hugging my knees. "I'm the reason he's upset," I confessed, and Raven's eyes widened. "I did something that made Charles quite upset," I explained, pushing away the fly-away hairs escaping my bun.
Raven crossed her arms and wandered over to me, "Claudia Walker making Charles Xavier mad, I never thought that I'd see the day," Raven quipped, before sticking her hand out to help me up.
"Neither did I," I stated, shaking my head.
"I wouldn't worry, Charles can't stay mad at you. He likes you too much," Raven reminded with a giggle, as I grabbed her hand and she pulled me up.
The sudden motion made me feel dizzy, I slowly walked over to the towel basket and plucked one out, "I don't know Raven, he seemed pretty upset," I doubted, dabbing the cloth against my face and closed my eyes trying to stabilize myself.
"What did you do?" she asked curiously.
Opening my eyes as my vision had stopped spinning, I removed the towel from my face, "I made these two men fight for entertainment," I explained, and Raven’s brows raised. "Erik and I wanted entertainment, we had gotten bored at the park," I continued, beginning to leave the room. "Do you know where I can Charles? I should probably go make things right," I added.
"In the library, most likely. Where else would he be?" Raven joked, and I nodded my head in agreement and laughed before exiting the gym.
I wrapped the towel around my neck and made way down the hall admiring the paintings on the wall as I headed to the library. The door to the library was cracked, slowly pushing it open revealed Charles standing in front of the window. I walked quietly into the room but he didn't turn around, he simply waited for whoever had entered to speak first. Out of the corner of Charles' eye he saw me move to stand beside him, still not saying a word.
At last, I broke the silence, "It's clear that you're upset with me," I began, searching his face for a reaction, but there wasn't one.
"How about disappointed?" he corrected, still looking out the window. I turned to look at him again and I was surprised to find his face free of anger, his face was calm. "You could have seriously injured those men Claudia. Worst, you could have killed them," Charles stated grimly, staring at me.
Backing away from where Charles stood, I sat down on top of the sofa, "Oh, come on, I wouldn't have let it get to that point," I answered, crossing my arms and returning Charles' stare.
He turned all the way around to face me, "It should have never happened in the first place!" Charles argued, slightly raising his voice. "Why on God's green earth would make those men fight?" he questioned, throwing his hands up.
"For fun, I suppose," I answered, with a slight shrug.
Charles scoffed, "That's your definition of fun? he asked incredulously.
"Fun is interpreted differently from person to person," I countered.
"No, I don't believe that's the whole story. I have never seen use your powers so irresponsibly. What is going on with you?" Charles asked again, walking towards me.
I pushed off the sofa, "You have been mother henning me for two days straight and I'm at my wits end here! I needed a release!" I snapped, spreading my arms out. "I'm not myself for one day, and for two days you have constantly been over my shoulder like I'm some fragile-" I continued pointing my finger, until another wave of dizziness me, this time stronger than before.
I felt myself falling as my vision slightly darkened, but a pair of arms caught me before I fell to the floor.
"Hey, I got you, I got you," Charles repeated softly, my head leaning against his chest. He lowered us to the ground slowly, "I'm going to pick you up, alright," he announced, before hooking his arms underneath my legs and slowly lifting me up. He walked over to the front of the sofa and placed me down onto the plush cushions. "Good thing I've been a mother hen, right?" Charles asked smiling, his hand brushing away a stray lock of hair from my face.
"I guess it paid off in the end," I conceded, smiling weakly as Charles sat on the edge of the sofa.
He placed the back of his hand against my forehead and frowned, "Claudia, you're burning up," he noted, removing his hand. "I knew you were pushing yourself too hard these past two days," he continued, placing each of his hands down on the cushions on either side of my waist. "Why didn't you tell me, love?" Charles asked quietly.
He was tense, his hands were clenched into fist by my side, I lifted my arm and soothingly rubbed his arm and felt the muscles in his arm slowly release some of their tension. His blue eyes met mine and he relaxed a little more.
"I thought I could push through it, I've done it before," I explained, giving him a small smile in an attempt to make him feel more at ease. "I really didn't want you to start smothering me anymore," I added, a short laugh erupting from me.
Charles shook his head gazing down at me with worried eyes, "Yes, and look where it's gotten you right now," he remarked, shaking his head once more. "You are so guarded at times Claudia, you've got to learn that not everyone wants to hurt you. I want to help you, I truly do. But I can't do anything unless you can accept that," Charles stated.
I was shocked by his bluntness and stared at him in shock, being quiet for several moments and looking away. When I didn't answer, Charles reached for my hand and held my hand in his.
"Do you trust me Claudia?" Charles asked softly.
It was such a simple question, yet I knew it meant a lot more to Charles...and myself. I stared up at him saw the genuine concern written across his features, and knew that what he told me was true.
"You're the first person I have trusted in years, Charles," I admitted softly.
The telepath gave me the most adorable, beautiful grin of relief, "I'm honored," Charles answered, and lifted my hand to his lips and kissed the palm of it. The simple gesture made my stomach flip. "Let's get you some rest, yeah?" he suggested, nodding his head toward the door.
sleepover?
ole miss rafe x reader
Tumblr media
first christmas together
(warnings: cursing, tiny bit of drinking, no editing)
During Rafe’s Christmas party with his boys, he disappeared into another room to take a phone call. He’d been drinking and had a nice buzz going on, so you weren’t sure exactly how much of the conversation he was going to remember, but when he came back, his mood had dampened and he looked significantly more sober.
You didn’t want to ask in front of his friends, so instead you passed him your bottle of water. He took it thankfully and started drinking, standing to go get both of you another when he finished it. By the time people were starting to Uber home, he looked completely sober, but still handed you the keys to drive back to his apartment anyway.
The silence in the car was heavy, you wanted to ask, but everything was so new, you weren’t sure if he’d actually tell you. Eventually curiosity won out, “Alright, Cameron, you wanna talk about it.”
He huffed out a laugh at Cameron, he always got a kick out of it, but the smile didn’t quite reach his eyes. After a few seconds, he answered, “Yeah. My dad called.”
Rafe’s family was a subject he typically avoided, you hadn’t really had that conversation, you just knew that it was touchy for him, so you typically avoided it. But he’d opened the jar, so you decided to press further, “What did he say?”
“He asked for my Christmas plans. I told him I was thinking about coming home because I haven’t been in a while. He asked about how school was going, if it would be logical to come home. I told him it was break and I had no work. Then he informed me that if I didn’t come home as soon as break started, then I clearly didn’t care enough about them, so he didn’t want to see me out of obligation.”
You blinked a few times, trying to follow his dad’s logic, “I’m sorry, I don’t think I follow.”
“He made up a bullshit excuse for me to not come. My father has never forgiven me for changing my major.”
Though you’d parked, you were fine with having the conversation in the car, but he seemed ready to go upstairs to his apartment. So, the two of you walked up, giving you time to think up your next question.
Once inside, you asked, “What did you change your major from?”
He sighed, kicking his shoes off, “I’m sure you noticed that I’m a fifth year senior.”
“I have.”
“I started out in business. My dad wanted me to take over his company when I finished, and since he was paying for my school, who was I to say no.”
Your heart sank as he continued, “I fucking hated it. My classes were awful, I wasn’t grasping the material. My dad was calling me several times a week threatening to stop paying my tuition if I couldn’t get my shit together.”
He let out a shuddering sigh and scratched the back of his neck, “Eventually, I had a breakdown in my advisor’s office, mid fourth semester. She helped me take a test to figure out what my strengths were and what I should do because I clearly wasn’t going to succeed in management.”
Rafe sat down at a bar stool, socked foot kicking at the floor, “I’d taken a gen ed history class that I’d done really well in. My advisor helped me switch my major, she told me my dad would never know. But somehow, he found out. He always does. And I lost my tuition money.”
“What the fuck,” you stepped closer and brushed a strand of hair out of his eyes.
“Yeah, I had a job at that point for rent. I had to get another and take out loans, but at least I was finally happy with what I was doing.”
“That’s great,” you whispered.
“It is. The material is so much easier to grasp and I actually really enjoy it. I’m so thankful for my advisor, I don’t know what would’ve happened or where I’d be without her help. It’s taken me an extra year to catch up, but I did it.”
“You did. That’s so impressive, being two years behind and only needing a year to catch up. While also working two jobs.”
“My dad may hate my major, but I thought he’d at least appreciate my new work ethic. Guess not.”
“Fuck him. You don’t need him anyway.”
Rafe finally smiled at you, an amused look in his eyes, “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah. Your family sucks, so you should spend Christmas with me instead.”
“You aren’t going home?”
“Unfortunately, no. I have work on the 24th and the 26th and it’s not worth making a trip home for one day.”
Smiling softly, he nodded, “Okay, yeah. Let’s do Christmas together.”
-
You went back to Starkville for the next few days leading up to Christmas. You and Rafe were too new in your opinion to spend that many days pretty much living together, so he was going to drive down and meet you on Christmas Eve.
Which of course meant you went straight to panic mode. Were the decorations enough or were they too much? After  two nights in a row of stress baking, you called your roommate for help.
She picked up with a sigh, and you realized it was past 2 a.m.
“Hello?”
“Why are you awake?” you blurted.
“Why are you awake?” she fired back.
“I’m freaking out,” you confessed, sitting on the edge of your bed in an attempt to stop pacing.
She snorted, “Yeah, I can tell. Tell me what’s wrong.”
“Rafe is coming over for Christmas. Should I cook or get takeout? Are my decorations enough? What if it’s too soon?”
“Do you want to cook a big meal for the two of you? And like, how chill do you want it to be?”
“Pretty chill. It’s not like a formal event.”
“Okay, so do sweatpants and sweaters, and get takeout. Something you both like or if you’re feeling sentimental, something similar to what you ate on your first date. What decorations do you have up?”
You felt much better already, “I have our tree up and the lights we strung up.”
“That’s probably plenty, especially if it’s going to be casual.”
“You’re right.”
She laughed, “Always am.”
“I know, that’s why I come to you with all my problems.”
“Oh, it’s not just because of convenience?”
You scoffed, “No fucking way, I’d come to you even if it wasn’t convenient.”
Her conversation reassured you, and you put up a few more decorations, “Only a wreath and some stockings,” you promised your roommate a few nights later over the phone.
Rafe showed up mid afternoon on Christmas Eve after your morning shift and walked straight into your arms when the door opened. He let out a shaky breath, pressing his forehead into your collarbone for a few seconds before pulling back enough to kiss you.
“What’s up Cameron?”
“Hey, sweetheart, missed you.”
“I missed you too,” and to your surprise, you were telling the truth. You liked having Rafe around all the time it seemed.
He squeezed your upper arms before stepping away, “What’s the plan?”
“Gonna chill and get takeout. I did get you a gift,” you answered, a little nervously.
The gift was something you debated heavily, but you saw something you thought Rafe would like, so you grabbed it, not expecting anything at all in return.
He chuckled, “Got you one too.”
“Wow, our minds.”
The two of you spent the rest of the day curled up on the couch watching Christmas movies. It was a slow and sleepy afternoon, the most easy going day you’d had in awhile, but for some reason you just couldn’t relax.
Around 7:00, Rafe finally broke, “Okay, what’s up?”
“Um, what?” you were taken aback.
“You’re squirmier than usual. And you’re kind of flinching away every time I shift closer.”
“I’m not,” you tried to deflect, but it sounded weak, even to you.
“If you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine, but I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.”
“I-” you sighed, “I’m not uncomfortable. I just feel like maybe this is a little fast.”
“What is?”
“Spending a holiday together. We haven’t even been together a month.”
He raised his eyebrows, “Technically today is a month.”
Your cheeks heated a little, “Fine, it’s been a month. But it’s still so soon.”
“I’m not really sure how to reassure you here. Other than that it’s like spending a holiday with your friend. There are no strings attached here, I’m not moving in or asking you to marry me tomorrow. We’re just keeping each other company since neither of us can be with our families.”
You processed for a few seconds, “You’re right.”
“It’s just a sleepover.”
“You’re right.”
He smirked, “I know I am.”
“Shut up,” you groaned, shoving at his shoulder before unpausing the movie.
It was easier to relax after that. He was right, just like your first Christmas with your roommate. After a few minutes he cleared his throat, “I can sleep on the couch if that’ll make you more comfortable.”
Immediately you were shaking your head, “Nope, just like a sleepover.”
Rafe smiled, cheeks a little red, “Just like a sleepover.”
Hello! Can you do a situation where MC is very independent and takes care of everything. She doesn’t like relying on other and so when she is up at 3am in a separate room having a breakdown from stress thinking someone close to them is going to cut them out of her life. How would the RFA+duo react? Thank you!
RFA + Minor Duo with an independent Mc who is stressed
You didn’t need to call me out like this, dear XD Well, that’s mostly the reason why I am not updating so much these days, hahaha. I just can’t handle my own stress...well, let’s not talk about me but about this HC. My friend last time told me, after I called her because I couldn’t handle it anymore, that communication was the key. I told her, that I knew but I still didn’t approach the people who made me feel as if they were better off without me. This lead me to cut the contact, telling them that I would leave the group and come perhaps back. Luckily one of them asked me what was wrong and made me talk. If we now maybe come to talk about it, it will get better. But you guys, remember. You need to talk.
Tumblr media
Jumin
His beautiful wife was his pride.
Always laughing.
You were independent and you knew what you had to do.
The fact that you were so independent made him fall deeply in love with you.
He knew himself that being like that with him wasn’t easy since he wanted to control and support you with everything.
But knowing that you could actually take over a department in his company and that you loved to work hard, made him very happy.
What he didn’t know was that there were three co-workers that you had to fire since they were charged with stealing and everyone else only worked part-time.
That meant that you had to cover everything else, not telling him anything about the hard work.
You were just too scared that he would leave you if you caused the project to fail.
You stayed overtime many times, lying to him that you were at a friend's place or something similar just so he wouldn’t notice that you were trying your best on your own.
One day you actually came home almost at midnight after you forgot to watch the time.
Instead of greeting him, you quickly went into your own room and had a breakdown.
The world was spinning and the tears wouldn’t stop.
You immediately fell on the ground and pressed your face into your hands, sobbing loudly.
You were just so scared that Jumin would leave you.
But suddenly, just when that horrible thought haunted you, he opened the door and hugged you, patting your head and waiting for you to talk.
,,I’m scared,’’ you told him.
,,Don’t leave me… but please help me… I can’t handle the work anymore… It’s so hard…!’’ you cried louder.
,,Co workers were stealing things and everyone else was part-time… I can’t handle it anymore!’’ you sobbed.
,,Mc,’’ Jumin whispered your name in a deep voice, holding your cheeks in his hands.
,,I love you. This isn’t a reason for me to leave you. I’ll help you… Assistant Kang will support you and find five more people for your department. I’m sure that Luciel will be able to also support us. I will take a share of your stuff so please stop thinking that you have to do everything, okay?’’ The evening ended in a big cuddle season on the floor of your room with him kissing you and telling you several times that it was alright.
Zen
You watched your pile of work and felt your blood rushing up to your brain.
Currently, you were taking the role of Zen’s manager. You were also the head of the RFA and you helped Yoosung with his studies.
Besides that, you also tried to help your friend with her love life and family problems and were taking care of your mother without the help of your brother.
And as if that wasn’t enough, you were also trying your best to get in touch with Zen’s brother to make your boyfriend happy.
There was a lot you had to do, but not enough time to do everything.
The days when you actually wanted to enjoy the free time you had, your mother had something to do or your friend asked you for something.
You were actually overworking yourself.
However, you wouldn’t dare to say that to Zen.
But how many nights did you spend working?
And how often did you tell him that you ,,weren't in the mood for IT?’’
Way too often.
By now you had the feeling that there was a problem with your relationship.
,,Shit!’’ you cursed in your room on your chair.
You were just overwhelmed with emotions.
,,I DON’T WANT THIS ANYMORE!’’ you yelled and threw something to the ground.
You were angry with the world and hated yourself.
Not long afterward, someone entered the room. It was Zen.
He heard your screams from outside where he was smoking and immediately came to your room.
,,Princess,’’ he mumbled and slowly approached you. ,,What happened?’’ he asked you and stroked your wet cheek.
,,I can’t handle it anymore…’’  you sobbed and looked at him.
Without thinking twice, he hugged you and waited for you to tell him what made you feel way.
,,My brother mocked me again, telling me that it’s my fault that my mother is sick and told me to bring her to the doctor, but at that time I have to see Yoosung so I can help him study! Besides, he’s never gone with my mother…! And my friend… gosh, she is so toxic these days! If I don’t help her right away, she verbally assaults me… and it’s just too much…!’’ you finally told him.
Zen nodded and kissed your cheek.
He told you that everything would get better, taking you in his arms and carrying you to the living room where he held you until you fell asleep.
As soon as you fell into a deep slumber, he asked for support in the chatroom.
That made Jumin, even though he hated it, find a doctor for your mother who could actually meet her at home and find Yoosung a private tutor for his studies.
Saeyoung and Jaehee actually took over a share of the RFA work and Zen tried to support you with your job as his manager.
And indeed, you felt a lot better...
Yoosung
,,Well, Mc, you’re a housewife. There’s no way you’re stressed,’’ Seven said, making you feel hurt by his words.
You quietly left the chatroom and began to tear up.
Well Seven, you thought.
He didn’t know how wrong he was.
The fact that you were stressed made you feel even more stressed.
You actually had work to do.
Waking up in the morning and waking up your three children you had with Yoosung, preparing one of them for kindergarten, and making the food for your children and your husband.
Even though this seemed like daily life for others, you felt stressed.
You weren’t attractive to yourself anymore and you didn’t have any social life anymore.
It made you feel lonely.
The RFA started giving you more work since you were a ,,mere housewife’’ and the last friends you had weren’t any better. They were always causing drama and making it hard for you to talk.
And as if it wasn’t enough, you still had a family.
Your brother, who had financial problems, always asked you, and your sister, who was also stressed, needed your help a lot.
And of course, you had children. Your two teenagers sometimes made you cry for hours.
But you couldn’t tell Yoosung, so you kept handling your stress on your own.
One day you were so stressed that you broke down in the kitchen.
Your witness, your five years old kid who didn’t understand your tears, got your cell phone and called his dad, telling him that you were lying on the floor, crying a lot.
This shocked the man at work and he immediately rushed home.
,,Mc, why are you crying? Mc… what’s wrong?’’ Yoosung asked, trying to find out the reason for your tears.
Carrying you to your bed, he laid you down and stroked your face until you were finally calm enough to tell him.
Yoosung kept listening to you and nodded to show you that he understood you.
He promised to talk to the RFA and tell them that it wasn’t okay and also promised that he would help your brother and actually make him work at his workplace.
,,Mommy, look! I made you a cake!’’ your little boy exclaimed as he came into your room, patting your head and begging you to stop crying.
,,Oh, wow, thank you, baby. Is that… a brownie with a cracker…?’’ you asked him, chuckling.
,,Yes! I couldn’t find the candle to make you wish something…’’
,,See, we all only want the best for you!’’ Yoosung reassured you. Your two teenagers got no pocket money for the rest of the month for being mean to their mom.
Jaehee
The coffee shop was a big source of your problems and worries.
So was your girlfriend and yourself.
The daily stress in the shop was just too much.
Somehow you were scared that Jaehee was becoming more and more distant.
You just didn’t want to ask her or even tell her that you felt that way.
Besides, you were still in the middle of studying how to take over a big shop so this was stressing you out too.
But since you were way too scared to tell her and also too proud, you stayed silent.
The daily stress was getting worse and all you could do was to swallow it all and work on it on your own.
However, you just needed to cry at least once a week.
This week, Jaehee actually saw you.
,,Did a customer mock you? Did you hurt yourself, Mc?’’ she asked you, worried.
You shook your head but still didn’t tell her.
,,I’m scared,’’ you finally told her.
,,What if you leave me after I tell you the truth?’’ you asked her with teary eyes.
Jaehee shook her head and chuckled as she pressed your head against her chest.
,,Dummy,’’ she said as she patted your head.
,,I love you more than anything in the world. Why would I leave you?’’ she asked you.
And so, you began to tear up again, but this time you also told her what was stressing you out.
,,I know that it’s stupid, but that’s how I feel,’’ you mumbled.
,,Mc,’’ Jaehee quickly told you ,,don’t care about what other people think. You’re feeling that way and that’s okay because everyone is different. But it doesn’t mean that this can’t give you a hard time.
We will both find a way so that you can feel better, okay? But from now on, please tell me… I love you.’’
Saeyoung
It was getting harder and harder.
Thoughts were haunting you.
You felt as if Saeyoung was slowly regretting asking you to marry him.
The preparations for the wedding and the honeymoon were hard and Saeran was still hard to please.
The brothers, even though it didn’t seem like it, loved each other a lot, but couldn’t do anything except argue with each other.
This was causing you a lot of stress too.
And as if it wasn’t enough, your family was against this marriage, making you feel terrible.
You didn’t want them to speak ill of Saeyoung, but no matter what you told them they always had something bad to say about Saeyoung.
One day, when you forgot that Saeyoung was videotaping every room, you actually let go of all your tears.
You were feeling very vulnerable at that moment.
Fear and stress made breathing difficult and you started having a panic attack.
But your savior came just in time to hug you and pat your back.
,,I’m here,’’ he kept whispering to you until you could finally breathe normally again.
Laying with your head on his lap, you closed your eyes and told him that you were scared that he would leave you.
,,Why didn’t you tell me earlier?’’ he asked you, stroking your forehead.
,,Because I wanted to deal with it on my own,’’ you told him.
,,And it may seem stupid, but I can’t handle you and Saeran anymore. You guys keep arguing with each other and it makes me sick…!’’ you explained.
Saeyoung understood all your points.
,,I will try to change, I promise. And please don’t worry, I swear to God that I love you. I’m your 707, remember? I love you and I don’t regret anything so MC, don’t worry… and don’t try to be so independent anymore. Share your worries with me instead, okay?’’
Saeran
It was a daily fight.
Saeran still wasn’t better and needed a lot of medications.
Of course he couldn’t overcome everything into two days.
But it was still hard.
This was stressing you out.
Saeran’s fear and behavior was making you feel tired.
You were worried and scared.
As if it wasn’t enough, you guys had financial problems.
You got fired since you missed work while Ray had you imprisoned.
Of course, Jumin made sure to pay for your needs, but you didn’t like that.
You hated being in debt to somebody.
And the more you wanted to change, the more you needed his help.
Of course, the problem with the prime minister was still around and you guys still couldn’t find Saeyoung.
And so you began to work your ass off, literally.
On good days, you managed to get four hours of sleep.
You were working in a restaurant and also in a cleaning factory.
And the tasks at home also waited for you.
Of course you had some savings, but you were using them for groceries.
And so, you were currently working to pay Jumin back.
But one day, you collapsed at work.
Of course, Saeran was thinking the worst and while you laid in bed, he prayed to God to make you stay alive.
,,I’m awake now, Saeran…’’ you tried to calm him while he kept sobbing in your arms.
,,Why did you work so much, Mc? There’s no need! Your health is important!’’ Saeran lectured you.
But suddenly you teared up, making him feel bad for making you cry.
,,It’s not your fault,’’ you tried to tell him.
,,Then tell me!’’ he begged you.
And so you finally confessed to him the reason for your hardworking behaviour.
,,Mc,’’ Saeran whispered ,,Jumin is doing this instead of paying me… like, instead of giving me money, he began to give me material stuff since we needed it and he could help us out quicker… but we actually don’t have any debt…’’ Saeran chuckled and stroked your head.
,,You were worrying yourself too much…’’
,,Oh my…’’ this news luckily made you fall asleep immediately.
Saeran also had the chance to resign yourself from your jobs.
Jihyun
,,What if they take her away from us? I wouldn’t be able to handle that!’’ you cried to God in your room.
Jihyun recently went to the hospital with Lucy since the girl fell down and injured herself pretty badly.
Since every possible injury to an adopted child could be seen as abuse, you were fearing that they could take your daughter. It was your worst nightmare.
However, this wasn’t the only thing that worried you.
Your job was hell at the moment.
Everything you achieved in a small amount of time was crumbling.
Even the new friendships you managed to make got destroyed.
And it was all your fault.
You were the reason for your hard times and you knew it.
And so the tears were flowing, not letting you notice that Jihyun and Lucy came back.
,,Mc?’’ Jihyun called you when he found you and noticed you.
Surprised, you turned around, showing him your red and teary face.
,,Hey… what’s wrong…?’’ he asked you and sat down next to you.
,,Nothing… how’s Lucy?’’ you lied and wiped away your tears.
,,She’s alright. She’s in her room changing her clothes… Now, please tell me why you were crying… Were you that worried?’’ he asked you.
,,I can’t tell you, Jihyun… I’m scared that you will hate me and distance yourself from me, just like everyone else is doing right now…’’ you mumbled.
,,Who is distancing themselves from such a beautiful and perfect wife?’’
And so you ended up telling him the problems you had with your friends.
,,Mc,’’ he smiled at you. ,,I can understand that this is a very hard time for you right now. It’s okay to feel like that, but look, if they behave like this they simply don’t deserve you, you know?
You’re too good for them.
You keep trying your best for them while they just hurt you. Don’t you see that this is toxic? I can understand that you love them a lot and you’re stressed, but the best thing would be to cut contact with them…’’ he nodded.
You began to sob harder as you agreed with him.
And so you also told him about your worries regarding Lucy.
And even this could be laughed away since the doctor wasn’t even doubting this case for a second.
There was no mistake that this was just an accident.
,,See how easy it is? I can make your problems fly away in a second… Please come to me if you ever feel bad, okay? I love you and I want to support you.’’
Sparxshipping wedding/married life headcanons (valentine's day special)
Engagement
Weirdly enough, it took place on Earth instead of Domino. Valtor organized an incredible evening in a rather nice restaurant, invited both of her families and all of her closest friends, Winx and specialists, including Sky (Bloom remained on friendly terms with the guy after the break up). The plot twist, he never told anyone he planned to propose. His manners and etiquette threatened to kick him in the ass for not asking Oritel for his permission to marry his daughter, but he had a hunch his future father in law would say "No." and that would do more harm than good in the future. Mike was more fond of him, especially when he noticed his rival (Oritel seemed to have the habit of making people dislike him) hated the magician with passion.
Valtor picked out the ring months before and he was just waiting for the perfect moment to present his beloved with it. The perfect moment seemed to strike when Bloom said one evening she always wanted to get all her friends and both of her families together on one big dinner in some nice Earth restaurant so they can all just chill for one night (she wanted to show her birth parents the planet she grew up on and she also wanted it to have a symbolic meeting for all of her friends). So when the opportunity struck, Valtor took it and wouldn't let go. Bloom protested to him organizing and paying for dinner she wanted but he had none of it and simply told her to 'relax and leave it all in his capable hands'.
All of Bloom's friends accepted the call immediately but Oritel made Valtor sweat for a few days before even he succumbed to his daughter's invitation (also, he suspected Marion had her fingers in tipping the king over the edge because if Valtor learned anything while he worked in the palace 20+ years ago, it was that Marion, despite her innocent looking facade, was quite the blackmailer and if he deduced correctly, she wore the pants in that household).
He was not nervous for a moment while he planned the whole thing even though he expected it at least on some level. But nothing could've prepared him for that moment when the dinner was done and they all stood up to leave the restaurant. The minutes were agonizing for him and despite everything he started second guessing his decision. It took all of his self control not to chicken out.
As it turned out, he had nothing to be anxious about, because as soon as he dropped to one knee, Oritel made an inhuman sound in the background, and popped the question while presenting Bloom with the ring, she threw herself on him and screamed 'YES!" in his ear. He could vaguely hear her friends screaming from excitement and happiness, that was mostly Stella, and one not so very happy voice saying "God damnit NO!", but he paid them no attention as his shaky fingers slipped the ring on Bloom's equally shaky hands. She threw her hands around his neck and kissed him while happy tears streamed down her face.
Wedding
The newly engaged couple was in no hurry to tie to knot and that seemed to displease everyone, mainly Stella because she wanted to go shopping for wedding dresses and bridesmaids dress (not that she needed the excuse to go shopping but 'Guysssss, this is special!'), but Oritel. As far as Valtor managed to catch, he was persistent in making his daughter change his mind about marrying Valtor. Then, overnight it seemed to him, Oritel started being more friendly and willing to spend some time with Valtor to 'get to know him'. He didn't understand the sudden shift in the beginning, but when his fiance took time to explain she threatened to burn all the expensive curtains in the palace if the king doesn't start minding his own business, everything fell into place.
The wedding preparations took over a month when they actually started planning, which was well over two years after the engagement but they figured, if they waited this long, they can wait a bit longer too. It was decided that the wedding will take place on Andros where their first official meeting happened, on a Colosseum he created to save her life when Icy's ice block knocked her unconscious into the water. Flora offered the help with the decorations, Stella dragged Bloom dress shopping and Musa and the rest of the fairies took care of other essentials in consultation with the wedding planner Bloom and Valtor personally picked out.
Despite the fact they already live together, they decided to somewhat respect the tradition and spent the night before the wedding separately. This was partially done to make Oritel a bit more docile at their wedding and to honor the tradition of groom not seeing the bride in her dress before the wedding. They both had difficulty with that as was evident when neither of them could sleep that night, their bodies and fire inside too accustomed to the other being near. Bloom spent the night on Domino and Valtor went back to Alfea. The parting kiss the two shared had to be interrupted by Marion and Vanessa, so neither Oritel nor Mike came out to see what's taking their daughter so long to say goodbye, before it turned into a heavy makeout session. The two had to be almost hauled apart, Marion and Vanessa holding Bloom as Daphne took Valtor by the collar of his shirt and dragged him away to Alfea.
The morning brought no relief however because Valtor was too busy lowkey freaking out and Bloom herself couldn't stop rushing around the palace to fetch stuff she needed despite the fact maids could bring it to her. Valtor's mental breakdown was stopped by Andy, his best man weirdly enough (they got really friendly after the whole Earth mission and black circle fiasco. There was originally a bit of jealousy on Valtor's part because Bloom seemed to really like Andy and it reached the peak when he found out they dated back in the day. But Andy's quirky personality and unending questioning about magic really brought them closer together and helped Valtor realize, Andy is one of the best humans to have around).
Bloom got her fair share of support from Stella, who even threatened to slap her friend on the wrist for not sleeping, but sympathy shone in her eyes when Bloom told her she couldn't sleep because Valtor wasn't there. She also made a quite inappropriate joke in a very inappropriate time just as her parents, both pairs, entered a room. "So you couldn't sleep because Valtor isn't here or was it the exercise that is done primarily beneath the sheets that you missed?" Oritel gripped the door frame so hard Bloom though she even heard it crack. Bloom blushed like a tomato and gritted her friend's name through her teeth but luckily blonde took the hint and shut her mouth.
As the wedding approached, Valtor got even more fidgety but tried to fight it because he knew in just a few short hours, Bloom will be his forever. All that time, Andy stood on the side and quietly laughed at the man and a friend he always associated with being stoic and good with covering up his emotions. He would've never thought Valtor of all people would succumb to something as trivial as wedding jitters.
When Bloom and her family, together with Stella arrived on Andros, guests and everybody else were moved to the place of ceremony, only Oritel and Mike remaining with her. Bloom decided she wanted to have both of her dads give her away at her wedding day. The tricky part was getting them to get along because Oritel wanted to be the one to give her away ("I'm her father, damn it! Why should I share my right to give away MY daughter on her wedding day?" "Oh please, you royal ass, you don't even like that lad she's marrying! Think of me as a supervisor that makes sure overprotective father of a bride doesn't actually STEAL his daughter so she can't marry!" "I'm the KING! I don't need supervision!" "If both of you don't SHUT UP IMMEDIATELY I'm going to walk down that isle alone." That phrase spoken by Bloom shut them up and the two, although with big frowns on their faces, reluctantly agreed)
Valtor's breath got stuck in his throat when he saw Bloom first time in a wedding dress. The dress had thin straps holding and supporting the dress on her delicate shoulders as the flowy lacy dress sat on her tiny frame perfectly. He saw her stop for a second as she took him in for the first time as well in a burgundy suit with a purple tie and handkerchief of the same color. He didn't even notice as both of Bloom's fathers kept shooting each other looks over their daughter's head during the walk. He only saw Bloom. He woke up from his daydream when Bloom's small delicate hand was placed in his by two larger hands, one belonging to Mike, other to Oritel. He nodded to both of them and gripped her hand like it's his lifeline.
The wedding officiate was saying some nonsense that Valtor didn't listen until it was time to exchange the rings and swear to each other for all eternity. When the ring exchange was done, when all that needed to be said was said and the famous, long awaited words "You may kiss the bride." were spoken Valtor finally relaxed and leaned down to kiss his wife for the first time. The crowd went wild, Stella screamed and Oritel almost fainted, Mike and Vanessa were seen wiping the tears from their eyes. Overall, the wedding was a success.
Roxy, to Andy's big surprise and delight, caught the bouquet. The three story cake was cut and smeared all over newly weds faces. Congratulations were proclaimed and a lot of kisses were shared. A carriage with unicorns, similar to the one on Daphne's wedding got rolled in the moment Bloom and Valtor's feet touched the solid ground. Bloom couldn't contain her excitement and she rounded straight to the unicorns while the guests and her husband said the last goodbye for at least a month. She was shaken out of her trance when Valtor grabbed her hand and then lifted her bridal style into his arms and stepped into the carriage with her in his arms. The couple waved to the crowd beneath and shared a kiss before the carriage disappeared into the portal.
Married life
They spent their honeymoon gallivanting around different worlds but they remained mostly on Earth. They both preferred warmer locations, so tropical resorts were where they chose to spend their honeymoon in. Bloom actually had no involvement in planning of the honeymoon so she was so pleasantly surprised when the portal opened on Maldives and she was greeted by a sight of turquoise water and small but fancy apartments built on water. For someone who seems to spit on a traditional views more than he follows them, she was surprised how many superficial, at least in his opinion, customs Valtor followed for her. Aside from deciding not to see her before the wedding as mentioned before, he also insisted on carrying her over the doorstep.
They spent the whole month without phones and annoying phonecalls from Stella, one of the main reasons why they chose not to bring anything but the emergency bracelet which can be used to contact either party only in a case of an emergency. They had to explain to Stella that new dress in Vogue was not an emergency and therefore, the bracelet was given to Techna because she was the only one they trusted not to abuse the right to call.
When they finally returned from honeymoon, and after they spent good hour and a half convincing Oritel Bloom's not pregnant, a joint decision was made that the newlyweds will be given the keys to the separate wing of the castle where their privacy was guaranteed (yeah right, as if Valtor will get anything even resembling privacy with Bloom while Oritel's around).
Their married life wasn't too different from their normal life. Valtor would wake up first most of the time and would make breakfast for Bloom. Bloom would sleep in most of the time when she didn't have to go anywhere and Valtor would sometimes have to use drastic measures to get her out of bed.
They shower together because 'it saves water', oh wait that was the excuse they used before they were married. Now they shower together because they're married and what they do doesn't concern anyone.
Life in the castle had some advantages but they'll be damned if it didn't have it's fair share of disadvantages as well. The biggest one being, well, Oritel. There were a few times they were almost caught in a compromising situation but somehow they always managed to avoid the full blast. They both knew it was only the matter of time however. Valtor was even tempted to leave the doors unlocked just so Oritel would get what he came to see and hopefully gauge his eyes out so he could longer disturb them. Bloom swatted him over the head for that one.
They both made an appointment not to sacrifice their friendships just because they're married so Winx were guests quite often.
Valtor still decided to teach in Alfea when it was absolutely necessary and when Faragonda asked him nicely few days in advance if he would be willing to teach the class. Bloom would sometimes sneak into the class as well and sit in the back. She would even take notes from time to time.
They would practice magic quite often together in the backyard of the castle that was customized for such situations. But their favorite place in the whole castle was Valtor's office/library where they could both spend hours in, while just reading books and drinking tea.
She saw it coming, but she ignored all the signs and kept going.
Y/n Stark is an intelligent person. Some people might call her crazy, some call her a genius, and sometimes a bit of both, just like her father. Yet when it comes to love, Y/n Stark is an absolute idiot. She wasn’t inexperienced in the Love Department. She had her fair share of relationships in the past, a lot of them, yet none of them had cured the pain in her chest. Because her heart only yearned for one boy. Y/n didn’t know when she had started loving Peter, but all she could remember was the feeling of something warm in her chest and the want of just being by his side forever.
But that crumbled until this very moment.
Y/n watched from afar. MJ and Peter, happily united, talking and finally…kissing. As she watch the scene unfold before her, the feeling of her chest tightening, and the lack of oxygen came back. She could feel it slowly, the roots spreading across her chest, stems growing bit by bit, and the flowers starting to bloom. It wasn’t until later that she felt herself choking and the need for oxygen. First, she coughed up one petal, then two, until it became a pile scattered on the concrete floor. She immediately went behind a bus to hide from her two friends and continued her coughing fit. Her mouth sputtered more yellow petals and blood. They couldn’t see her like that. She doesn’t them to see her like that.
Yellow Carnation - the meaning of rejection in the flower language. Y/n laughed at the thought of how such a beautiful flower could symbolize something so painful.
Rejection. Y/n Stark had experienced it two times in her life. The first, being the rejection of her mother, hence why she now lives with her father. And the second, was Peter’s. She hadn’t confessed to Peter, but she knew even before, he already had his heart set on someone. And that someone wasn’t her.
“Miss Stark, would you like me to take you to the nearest hospital? I am seeing some restrictions in your trachea, which is making you hard to breathe.” Edward, her A.I., spoke through the earpiece she wore.
“I’m fine Edward. Just- Just get me out of here.” she managed to speak out in labeled breaths.
“But your wounds, Miss. You need to tend to them, it would le-”
“Just get me out of here Edward!” Her head was immediately wrapped in her nanotech helmet and she flies across the sky as fast as she could. She didn’t know where to go, her mind was completely elsewhere. But when she saw a nearby building, she didn’t hesitate to land and release herself from her suit. She knelt on the ground, shaking. Her body felt so fragile she could feel herself breakdown from the physical injuries she had taken, and the emotional ones taking over her body.
The bracelet buzzed on her wrist, indicating an incoming call. She opened the holographic screen, and Happy’s contact picture appeared. She pressed the green button.
“Kid!” his panicked voice rang in her ears. “Are you alright? Where are you? Your suit is sending me an alert!”
She sniffled and sobbed out, “Happy. Ha-Happy it hurts. Please pick me up.”
“It’s okay kid. I got you. I’m coming for you so stay there. Okay? Just hang on!”
The call ended and she curled up in a ball. The comfort of the wind blowing past her made her feel a bit better. She closed her eyes in hopes of getting rid of the pain. Although her body received a lot of physical damage, the pain couldn’t be compared to the pain she felt inside.
***
His hand held her shoulder while hers were place on his neck. The kiss was soft, and blissful. Peter could’ve sworn he was dreaming had MJ not been holding on his neck as a gentle reminder that it was indeed real. He couldn’t believe it. He got the girl..
They broke away from each other, both teens with a smile and awkward stances as they stood.
 “I-uhm. I should probably head back to the class.” she cleared her throat and started walking backward slowly.
“I-I should too. Go check… Uhm- some stuff.” he replied with a hearty grin.
“I’ll see you later then.”
“Y-yeah. I’ll see you.”
A grin was etched on his face as he looked back to take one last look at MJ. Peter had a skip in his step while walking back to the other side of the bridge. He couldn’t be happier. Out of everything that has happened in this trip, this was the best. He played with the torn mask in his hand, Definitely gonna have to repair this once I get home, he thought.
He stops in his tracks when he felt something on his shoe. It felt icky and bit slippery when he glided it against the concrete. He looked down to see what he stepped on.
 A pile of yellow petals covered in blood.
He cringed at the sight and started wiping his soles on the concrete floor. “Ugh. Gross.” he mumbled under his breath. “Now that’s a sight you don’t see every day.” he jokes to try and forget the picture. What was a pile of yellow petals even doing there anyway? Peter shrugged it off.
By the time he got to the other end, a sudden wave of realization hit him, and panic coursed through his veins. “Shit. Y/n!” he fumbles with his mask and immediately puts it on. “Karen! Call Y/n!” He runs through the streets and starts swinging around the strike zones. Her contact photo displayed on his screen. The call rang once, twice, until it went straight to voicemail. He called her cell again, no answer. He proceeded the call, but this time he contacted Happy. Thankfully, he answered.
“Hello, Peter?”
“Happy! Thank god you answered. Have you seen Y/n? I can’t find her anywhere in the strike zones. Was she with you at the vault?”
“She’s with me, Pete. Don’t worry.”
He felt relief wash over him. “Okay, okay. I’ll meet you there. Where are you guys right now?”
“Uh we’re stitching her up. But don’t worry, you’ll see her tomorrow with the class. Y/n- she needs to rest for a bit.”
“What?” His brows furrowed. “’Stitch her up’? Is she hurt? I’m coming there as soon as I can.”
“No! Uh- She’s fine, she’s fine. Just go and meet up with your class. I’ll make sure your teacher knows that Y/n’s gonna be with us for a while.”
“Are you sure? Happy, I can get there in-” and the line went dead. He looked at his phone again in confusion. Happy never drops a call, unless it was pure bullshit. Something tells Peter that Y/n might not actually be alright. Last time she saw her, she was taking on a bunch of drones, yelling at him to take on Beck, and he quote, “Get the damn fucking glasses and kick his fucking ass for me and Dad!”
Peter senses were on about something, but he couldn’t pinpoint what. Maybe it was his nerves acting up, not knowing if his best friend was fine or not. “Karen, can you track Y/n’s bracelet for me?”
“Her systems are offline, Peter.”
“What?” he blinked, “But that’s impossible. Y/n always has her suit online.”
“It could be possible that her suit is damaged. She had taken a lot of hits earlier.”
Peter became silent. Things were started to get weird. Was Y/n really alright? She would’ve told him through the comms if she wasn’t. Edward would’ve sent him an alert by now if she had gotten hurt. He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. He’s gonna have to wait until tomorrow and ask her on the flight back to New York.
***
“Hey, has anyone seen Y/n? She wasn’t with us on the plane.” Betty asked.
It was a question that plagued Peter’s mind all throughout the flight. Tomorrow had already came and he still hadn’t seen Y/n. She wasn’t at the hotel before they left, she wasn’t on the bus to the airport, and She wasn’t on the plane with the class. MJ noticed his distress the moment they sat together on the plane. So she offered him to get some sleep. It was awkward at first, but he soon became comfortable sleeping on her shoulder. All thoughts of Y/n’s sudden disappearance were forgotten, until now.
“I heard from Mr. Harrington that she was taking her own flight back to New York using the Avengers’ jet with her bodyguard.” Flash appeared behind the group, scrolling through his feed and would look up from time to time. “Something about security and family matters, I think. I wouldn’t blame her though. If my family could afford a jet, I would’ve gone ahead all of you guys.”
Everyone rolled their eyes, “Yeah. Sure, Flash.”
Peter and MJ fell into step easily, their hands entwined, and shoulders brushing from time to time. He held onto her hand tightly seeking comfort from the anxious thoughts that still ran on his mind, and thankfully, the normalcy MJ had provided just that.
“Do you think something happened to her?” he asked out of the blue but kept walking.
“Maybe. But I think she’s alright. I mean, it’s Y/n. She can handle almost anything, right?”
He smiled. She was right. If something had happened to Y/n, she would be fine in no time. But deep down, Peter knows there were some things that weren’t in her control. He could only hope Happy was with her, safe and sound. “Yeah. You’re probably right.”
“And I always am. Look, there she is right now.”
Peter’s eyes followed the end of her finger, and she was right, yet again. Y/n was standing idly at the side. Her red turtleneck and jeans covered her body, showing no ounce of skin. He can tell that she was trying to keep a low profile to not attract any unwanted attention. Her cap, earphones, and the glasses she wore (which was her father’s, until she snatched it and claimed it hers) told him so.
He didn’t hesitate to walk towards her, pulling MJ along the way. Somehow Y/n still hadn’t noticed the set of eyes on her and their presence coming. She was usually wary of her surroundings and could sense people easily. Peter thought of two possible reasons: either she was really digging the music she was listening to and was drowning the people around her, or she’s ignoring their presence.
It wasn’t until their shoes were below her phone that she took notice of the two. She looked up, took out her headphones and flashed them a forced smile. “Hey guys!” she greeted. He immediately knew something was wrong. She was trying to sound cheery and there was something off about her voice, like she was choking or something. Her eyes flicked from their entwined hands to his eyes, he could feel heat warm up his cheeks. He had hoped she wouldn’t notice; Y/n wouldn’t stop teasing him even before.
“So, you finally got the girl, eh?” She said smugly, wiggling her eyebrows in the process. “Congrats you guys! I’ll be expecting an invitation in future. Just give me a call and I’ll take care of the bills.” Y/n laughed at her own joke, but Peter wasn’t. He was staring her down, and his jaw became tight.
“Where were you? I went looking for you everywhere! You weren’t on the bridge, you weren’t on the other strike zones, and you weren’t in any of the nearby buildings. I tracked your phone, you were offline. I called Happy, and he said I’m just gonna meet you on the flight back to New York. But you weren’t with us. I didn’t see you for almost 24 hours!”
Y/n stifled a laugh. “Geez. Sorry Grumpy, didn’t knew I had such an effect on you. Don’t worry, I was with Happy this whole time. Pepper wanted me to take the private jet with Happy ‘coz she wasn’t keen on letting me take the flight with you guys after the whole fiasco.”
“But none of that explains why I couldn’t find you after the fight.”
“I went to Fury and Maria, needed me in headquarters. I also asked them to put me in med-bay ‘coz to fix me up. They turned off my suit in case Beck’s accomplices tried to track me, as well as my phone. Look, I‘m back in one piece.” She turned around to show him. “Honestly Peter, you’re making it a big deal for nothing.”
Peter curled his first, starting get annoyed. How can she be so nonchalant about this? The last time he saw her, she was fighting a whole armada of lethal drones. Then he calls Happy and finds out she had taken a lot of hits and was actually at the med-bay? And she thinks she’s hiding it well, but he could see her leaning on her other foot instead of her dominant one, which was injured. He knew she was lying, and on top of that, she was hiding something.
She probably forgot, but Peter can read her like an open book.
“How can I not make a big deal out of this, Y/n? You were taking on lethal drones! I couldn’t contact you for hours! Sorry if I’m “making a big deal for nothing” because my best friend’s been MIA for the past 18 hours and I didn’t know if you were fine or not ‘coz Happy didn’t want to tell me where you were!”
“Peter.”
MJ’s voice rang in his ears. It was like silence in a crowd of people. She placed a hand on his shoulder to calm him down, and thankfully, it helped him through. He heaved as he looked down on the floor. Not noticing Y/n’s stare lingering on the hand on his shoulder. She puts her hand on her mouth to cough, and it wasn’t an alright cough for Peter. I almost sounded like she was going to throw up.
“Are you done?” she said, unfazed by his outburst.
“Yeah. Yeah I am. Sorry.”
“Look,” she sighed, pocketing her phone. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell anyone about my whereabouts firsthand, especially you. I wouldn’t be so calm about it if I didn’t know I wouldn’t be fine afterwards. So you don’t have to worry about anything Pete, I’m not going anywhere. It’s not like I’m dying or anything. It’s not like the end of the world, we just surpassed that.”
They laugh at her own joke. It slowly died after in a moment of silence. “So, are we good?”
He grinned. “Yeah, we’re good.” He leans towards her to pull her in for a hug, but she backs away and coughed again, holding her ribs in the process. Peter looked at her confused.
“Sorry. Forgot to tell you I kinda broke a few ribs back in London, so no bear hugs for six weeks.”
Peter scoffed, “Since when did that stop me?” He lets go of MJ’s hand and wrapped his arms around her shoulder, making sure to be gentle in case she had other injuries. His face settled on her neck and his lips were just by her ear. Y/n could feel the hairs on her arms stand up from the feel of his hot breath. She tried to keep her heart calm, hoping that he wouldn’t hear its pace from the simple action.
“I was really worried for you, y’know?” He said in a hushed tone. Now that surely would make her heart go crazy. “You’re my best friend, I don’t know what I’d do without you.” Her heart immediately drops after hearing that. At least she wouldn’t have to trouble herself keeping her heart place at a normal rate.
Y/n chuckled and whispered back, “I’m sure you’ll live.”
She didn’t return the hug like she usually would. Instead, she patted his back and pulled away. It hurt Peter, but he brushed it off. It probably was best if she didn’t because of the broken ribs. What he doesn’t know was that Y/n didn’t want to upset MJ who was just standing back, watching them reunite. If Peter was dating MJ, she should probably step back from being too touchy with him. It wouldn’t look good, despite knowing MJ wouldn’t really care about those kinds of things.
“Uhm-okay, I better go.” She coughed. “I gotta get out of here before the reporters find me.” Another cough again, and this time it wasn’t any better than the last few. She reached for her handkerchief in her pocket and covered her mouth, wiping her mouth after and crumpling the cloth in her hand. “Sorry, that was gross. I promise you guys, I’m not contagious with anything, just got the flu.”
MJ walked towards her, concern in her eyes. “That didn’t sound good. Are you sure you’re alright?”
Y/n had a teasing smile on her face. “And here I thought you were just gonna hang there forever.”
“You guys were in the heat of the moment. And besides, Peter here needed some clarification. He was losing his mind during the whole of the flight.” The tanned girl then narrowed her eyes, “And don’t try and change the subject. I know what you were trying there, Stark.”
She shrugged, “Eh, it was worth a try. And to answer your question, for the hundredth time this day, I am.” Her mouth gave another hack and she directed it away from them. As she stood upright both Peter’s and MJ’s eyes widen at the sight. Soon, Y/n started mirroring their expression, and she was hoping they hadn’t caught on what was happening to her.
“What? What is it?” She questioned cautiously.
“Y/n, you’re bleeding.” MJ pointed at the corner of her mouth. She immediately wiped it away with her handkerchief. “Ah shit, I bit my tongue.” Y/n laughed off, waving like it was nothing.
“Y/n you’re coughing up blood.” Peter took a step forward to examine her face, but she was quick on her toes to take one step back and push away his hand. She coughed again on the piece of cloth
“I’m not.” She wheezed out. “Look, I really have to go now, okay. Pepper wants me back home before I have to deal with the paparazzi. I’ll see you guys soon, but I gotta go. Bye!”
She left before they could even get a word out. Y/n didn’t turn back, just left as quickly as she can and get through the horde of people who were waiting at the gate. She could still feel the lingering stares and the concern in both of her friends’ eyes. It hurt her to watch them. She could still see the picture of their hands entwined together. And just when she thought she won’t see them again after the trip.
 She was sorely mistaken.
***
Y/n lied about meeting up with her friends soon.
Every time their group would plan to go out for a movie, eat at a diner, go to the arcade, or simply hang out at each other’s place, she didn’t come. It was always the same reasons: she planned on sleeping in, had to babysit Morgan, Pepper showing her the ropes in the company, Training with Bucky and Sam, or hanging out with Wanda. They wondered if she really was doing those things, but Peter had already seen through all her lies.
  And so, Betty brought up an idea. “Why don’t we surprise her? You know, go to her house, or something.”
“Yeah right. Like we can just “walk up” to the Avengers Compound and surprise her.” Flash scoffed, scrolling through his phone.”
“I’m sure they’ll let us in, we’re her friends. And besides, Peter’s with us. He’s been there a lot of times; he could get us in.” Betty turned to him, “Assuming you’d be fine with that, Peter?”
“Yeah, yeah, of course!” He nodded, a little too excited. You can’t blame him though. As much as Y/n had been avoiding her friends, she had given the same treatment to him as well. He would try and chat with her until late at night like they always do. He tried calling her and asked her if she was alright whenever he would notice that something was wrong. But it was always the same, short replies and would end the call after two minutes of starting it. Truth be told, Peter hadn’t even been to the Compound for a long time now. He would try and come by, but she would tell him not too and give him a bunch of ridiculous reasons just to keep him away. There had been a shift in their relationship, and it was evident since the day at the airport. When she felt uneasy the moment she saw him and MJ hand in hand.
He would sometimes call Happy and ask if she was okay. But he was just the same. And he always had that uneasy tone like the last time he called him in London.
There definitely was something wrong with Y/n, and Peter was dying to find out why.
Flash was the one who drove them at the Compound. Says he wanted to come because it was “A Chance of a Lifetime” to be able to visit where the Avengers lived. All of them were in complete awe - besides Peter and MJ. They start looking around once they entered, jaws still slack until they reached the elevator.
“Good morning, Peter.” F.R.I.D.A.Y. greeted through the speakers, making the teens jump. “Would you like me to inform Y/n of your visit?”
“No. Thank you, F.R.I.D.A.Y.”
They elevator stopped and the metal doors open to the communal area. His friends stared at him, waiting for an explanation of what happened. “Oh-uh, that was Tony’s A.I... She kind of controls everything in here.” They gave a silent “Oh.” And continued to walk around the area, but careful as to not break or step on anything worth more than-probably, their lives
“Bucky! Did you steal the last cup of my cookie dough?! I told you to get your own stock!  If Morgan finds out she’s gonna rip- “
The Stark girl stopped in her tracks when she noticed the familiar faces in the living room. Her eyes were wide in surprise and she almost dropped the freshly cooked bowl of popcorn she was going to bring up to her room. Betty had a gift basket in her arms, Flash had his phone out to record the whole thing, Ned had a “Get Well Soon!” balloon, and MJ and Peter stood side by side, still as close the last time she saw them. Her heart clenched again, and she could feel the flowers, wanting to throw up a whole bouquet then and there.
“Surprise!” Ned and Betty greeted awkwardly throwing their hands up. They were the first ones to come up to her and give her a warm hug.
“W-What are you guys doing here?”
MJ started, “We wanted to surprise you. It’s been a while since we last saw you- “
“And hung out with us!” Ned interjected.
“So, we decided to come and visit you.” Peter finished for them.
“Back at the airport you were looking pale, so we thought you were still sick until now. Hence why we brought this lovely gift basket and balloon for you.”
“Thanks guys. But you really didn’t have to.”
Betty waved it off. “Oh please, It’s the least we could do. You’ve been here ever since our trip ended! We missed hanging out with you, right guys?”
“Right.” they answered in chorus.
She had a soft expression on her face that Peter couldn’t quite place. Isn’t she happy they came by? Before Peter could voice out his question, Y/n started to hurl, and she covered her mouth to prevent whatever was in her mouth spilling on the floor. She quickly dashed to the nearest sink and coughed out the bits in her mouth. The running water rushed down the drain, while the garbage disposal took care of the yellow petals she coughed out. She gripped tightly on the edge of the sink and heaved to catch a breath. She flinched when she felt a hand on her back.
Everyone was circled around her, and the fear of them finding out about the secret she’s been hiding for so long wasn’t helping with the anxiety she moved away, making sure she was at least a few feet away. Her friends gave her a concerned look, not knowing why she was acting strange. But she could see another glint in their eyes: pity. One of the many things that Y/n Stark hated, being pitied.
“Woah! Y/n, how long has that been going on? Are you sure you’re not sick? That looked crazy!” Flash exclaimed, not tucking away his phone. He had the same concern in his eyes. It was rare to see Flash concerned about something.
“Thanks, Eugene. But I’m fine.”
“No, you’re not.” Peter spoke up in a rather harsh tone. It caused the air to become tense and Y/n’s heartbeat spike from the anxiety. Y/n never would have thought Peter would have to use that tone at her – again. She thought by now he would have already forgotten her little episode in the airport, what with all the hang outs he did with the others, patrols and dates with MJ. “You haven’t been feeling well since you came back. It’s wasn’t just the flu, was it Y/n?” He walked closer to her but takes two steps back every time he does.
 “No, No, Of course not. I’m just feeling a bit under the weather- “
“You’re lying!” everyone shook at his outburst. “Stop making things up and tell us you’re fine, ‘coz we can clearly that you aren’t. Y/n you haven’t been fine since we came back. Just tell what’s going on so we can help you through it.”
  Y/n sighed through her nose. It was quiet for a moment before she opened her eyes and gave them a sad look. “You guys should go. Pepper doesn’t want me to have visitors until I’m cleared.” Without another glance, she left them and went back to her room. She looked at her windows and saw her friends leave the compound. Regret filled her after that, and she tried to keep herself distracted from the heavy feeling that weighed on her shoulders. Text messages came through her phone that night. She received each one from her friends and left them on read. She had hoped Peter would’ve sent one too. But the day ended, and none came through from Peter.
  ***
Once he was sure everyone was asleep in the Compound, Peter sneaked out of his apartment. It was in the middle of the night, and the Compound was quiet. Sneaking to Y/n’s room was easy. She always left her window for him so that he could sneak in and visit whenever he liked. Lucky for him, her window was still open. He slipped in quietly and closed the glass. The room was a bit of a mess, compared to the usual clean and kept room he had been used to. Y/n wasn’t in her bed, but the covers were pulled up, meaning she must’ve woken up. The bathroom light was on, and he could hear the faucet running.
Peter walked around the room, unsure of what he was supposed to do now. He doesn’t usually do this. When Y/n was keeping something from him, he lets her be. She always promised that she would tell him, and they would talk it out when the time was right and when she was comfortable with telling him. But seeing her condition worsen and the blood on her lips while she coughed her lungs out, he became desperate. He was not about to lose another valuable person in his life. Just as he was about to take a seat on the bed, he noticed something on the floor.
  A pile of yellow petals covered in blood.
  It trailed, all the way to the bathroom.  And just as Peter was about to stand up and walk to the door, the water stopped running and the knob turned. Y/n came out wiping the corner of her mouth with a towel breathing heavily. She looked paler than earlier, and her eyes were red. She had only taken notice of the other presence in her room when she looked at Peter. He had this horrified expression when he looked at the trail that connected from the little pile beside the bed to her. She stood in front of him, like a deer caught in headlights.
No use in hiding it from him now.
