When people die, their death always awakes a fire within the hearts of the people that loved them; the people they loved.
Despair and confusion gives birth to determination. Determination translates to motivation and action.
But not before grief. Never before grief.
Grief brings anger, frustration, lack of understanding. It brings denial, depression, fatigue.
Luckis tears were a product of grief.
Her huge tears couldn’t help but pour down her cheeks, as her eyes became lost in the photo of her best friend. The picture wasn’t even little over 2 years old. Yes, the picture was fairly new, and the person in it happened to be gone as quickly as the picture was taken. It was insane; how could someone be here on Earth one day, and truly gone the next.
Hoseok, Luckis older brother, stood firmly behind his sister, refusing to shed a tear. His choice was rooted in his deep love for his younger sister, who he wanted to keep face for. It was always like this. It had always been like that for Lucki and Hoseok, even since they were kids.
Even when their money-devouring parents left them alone, subject to the real and dangerous world, it was just Hoseok and Lucki bound together. It was even since then he realized at age twelve that if he cried, who would comfort them both? They had no one, and when he succumbed to the rippling waves, who could they both rely on to fish them out of the deep ocean?
No one. Nobody.
With this in mind, Hoseok tugged his small sister close and held onto her as if her life depended on it. He had to hold the fishing rod when he was twelve, and he would continue to hold it now, even twelve odd years later.
As the loud but solemn, funeral music choked on its depressing tune, the pastor strutted to the stage and cleared his elderly throat. The church was silent, save for a few sniffles that sounded in different corners of the pews. It was time to continue the ceremony, promptly.
“Next, we have the deceased’s best friend, Y/n Jung, presenting a speech in honor of Ms.Mendoza. Please do your best to welcome her to the stage properly. Thank you.”
The guests did everything but hold their applause as Lucki moped to the podium with a piece of white copy paper folded neatly in her hands. Hoseok remained steadily behind her, his presence acting as emotional support for his sister at the moment.
Lucki approached the stand, her fingers fooling around with the note trapped between them. She opens her mouth to speak, but her voice projected itself in the way that she internally felt; broken.
Her voice cracked, “Good afternoon, everyone.”
Good afternoon, she heard back from the crowd.
It was now her turn to clear her throat.
“Dear Carmen-Louisa Mendoza”, she began taking a deep breath. “You were the best thing that ever happened to me. I’m glad I get to be one of those people who talk about finding their soulmate now at least. You were like the light in every corner of my life. I remember how we could laugh at anything together. I don’t think you knew, but one time when we were falling asleep you said, that Hobi was the Earth, I was the sun, and you were the moon. I don’t think you know that I knew that but I knew.”
Hoseok, or Hobi, cracked an endearing grin. He imagined Carmens voice saying such a thing.
Hobi is the earth but, me and you are the sun and moon. We orbit around that big idiot and I’m glad that it’s like that you know?
Carmen barely said anything sentimental, but when she did, Hoseok liked to think it meant more to him when she said these things rather than when others did. It displayed how much Carmen actually cared, despite her often nonchalant front.
“And then when Hobi started dating Sunny, you said how she’s all the plants on Earth. It took me a little to figure out that you were saying that she was his heart, and when I did figure that out, I almost broke down in tears.”
Luckis fat waterworks returned to her face, and the congestion to her nose.
“I remember when we rode skateboards for the first time, and you tried doing a trick you saw on tv, and you fell. You had a concussion. Hoseok got super mad at us, telling us that he would starve us both if we ever did that again.”
Tiny chuckles bounced off of the church walls, bringing a lighter energy to the atmosphere.
“I remember the day I saw you sobbing for the first time, and you never told me what it was. You never said why you were crying, and then I found out it was because your favorite character in a tv show died. I couldn’t believe it. I never thought you, Carmen Louisa could cry so deeply about something like that. But that’s when I started learning that you were such a softie. Your heart was aching for love and comfort. You loved hard Carmen.”
“I remember how you held my hand when we got our first tattoos. I was actually crying from the pain, it felt so bad, it hurt like hell. And now all I can think is that you won’t be able to hold my hand and say something to cheer me up.”
Lucki stole a glance at her and Carmens matching tattoo. It was a graphic of a keychain holding a four leaf clover charm and caged bird on his clasps. Upon first glance, the tattoo was incredibly interesting to others, even considered ugly but, it held such a deep meaning.
As Lucki uttered the last few sentences of her speech, the delicate glass in her throat shattered into one million pieces. It cut up her precious vocal chords, and brought an everlasting rasp to her voice:
“Carmen-Louisa Mendoza was my best friend. Most of you may know her as Jailbird. You may know her as a friend. You may know her as something other than that. One thing we all know though, is how much of a uniting force she was. Carmen was like glue, keeping all of us together, even when times made it seem like we were gonna split.”
Hoseok rested his palms on his sisters shoulders, silently consoling her, coaxing her through the rest of her heartbreaking message to the stars.
Dear Carmen-Louisa Mendoza, please rest in beautiful peace. There’s so many things I want to tell you right now, like I love you, I miss you, I want you back. But I can’t……I can’t and it really hurts right now.
Violent sobs racked Lucki’s body. She shuffled off to the side and sniffled, her brief pause saddening the audience in front of her. Hoseok continued rubbing her shoulder, trying his best not to break down himself at the sight of his only sister heaving and struggling to make it through another sentence or two.
“Cmon Luck! You can do it!” Sunny shouted from her seat in the front. Lucki nodded and continued back to the podium, ready to finish her speech.
Always in our minds,
Always in our memories,
Always in our hearts, Carmen-Louisa Mendoza.
Lucki had decided to keep the letter professional at the end, with the guidance of Sunny. She desired to add more explicit words in it but, Sunny advised her that cursing at her best friends funeral wasn’t ideal, and that pouring the gold in her heart out was the best choice.
She retreated from the alter, Hoseok attached to her still. Lucki made her way back to her seat, slumping in her spot and letting out a heart wrenching wail. Hoseok and Sunny exchanged knowing glances, and Sunny pulled Lucki into her comfortable hold. Hoseok cuddled up into the other side of his sister. Lucki just unconsciously weeped, her social awareness no longer holding her back. Her need to look unbreakable in front of her members and underlings vanished instantly. She wanted to be comforted, she wanted to be seen. Her heart was hurting. A crack would be present in her heart forever, and always. Now she knew, how it felt to really lose your other half.
The funeral concluded, and all of the guests payed their final respects to the deceased.
Everyone poured into the middle of the building, exiting through the brown double doors at the end of the purple carpet.
Outside stood Lucki, sulking as she glared at the grey skies. Was Carmen up there, waiting for Lucki to come see her?
Sunny and Hoseok held hands, staring at the young girl in front of them. They were conjuring up ideas of how they could help Lucki cope with Carmens untimely death. Everyone knew it; they were like sisters, two peas packed tightly in one pod. Seeing one without the other would just be abnormal now.
Lucki glared at the grey skies above her.
The pain of losing felt so new to her every-time it happened. She was a gang-leader. She couldn’t even count the casualties on her ten fingers and toes. Surely the deaths had piled up since she founded her gang. Everyone died by the swords they lived by. It was a true fact of such a dangerous lifestyle.
Sometimes Lucki felt selfish. Carmen did as much crimes as the next person but, still Lucki felt deep in her soul that Carmen still had so much to do. Much more than the next person. She wasn’t like the next person, no. Lucki thought Carmen was way higher than average. She could do things that no one else could do.
It wasn’t fair. Lucki wanted Justice. Lucki wanted revenge. That was the part she left out in her letter. Her unspoken thoughts were vengeful. Dangerous, Damning.
She dried her tears, and started up a stride to the sidewalk like she knew how, retreating from the church’s sickening atmosphere that was tearing down the foundations of her soul.
Hoseok called out. “Lucki, where are you going?”
“The bar!” Lucki shouted back. The bar was the gangs hideout. It was another way for Lucki to secure funds but, passerby’s and simple customers never questioned the establishment. To them, it was a regular bar they could sit at and enjoy a drink in.
Hoseok nodded, leaving his sister off to walk alone. He wasn’t too worried about her, because he knew exactly where her mind was at. Hoseok knew his sisters heart like no one else; she didn’t want to be bothered for a good reason.
As Lucki strutted down the sidewalk, her eyes glimpsed a man dressed from head to toe in a black suit. Equipped with a cane, he calmly walked towards her. A tall woman, and person stood behind him, seemingly guarding him with their lives. The three of them approached from an expensive looking car, one Lucki only knew rich folks to drive.
“Excuse me. I want to start off by saying that I know you don’t know me well.”
Lucki placed her palm on the gun hidden gently in her trousers waistband.
“But I wanted to pay my respects to Ms.Mendoza. I understand that you two were closely affiliated, correct?”
Lucki narrowed her eyebrows at the pretty man, unclear of his motives for wanting confirmation of such information.
“What do you want?”
He sighed and reached in the pocket of his suit for a card; a small business card that was colored red.
“I can tell you who may have murdered Ms.Mendoza.”
Luckis palm dropped to her side, as well as the expression on her tear stained face. Desperate for answers, she gripped onto the platinum-blondes shoulders suddenly. This startled his guards but, he stopped them from taking action. He knew exactly how Lucki felt, so his judgements were nonexistent.
“Please,” she rasped. “Please. I need to know.”
Lucki dropped to her feet, her new tears staining the mans expensive, leather loafers. The man blinked back his own tears. Looking at Lucki act this way was like staring into his past; he was sure he looked exactly like her when grief fell upon him too.
“My name is Park Jimin, but I am known exclusively as J. Please, take my card, and call me when you are ready to discuss the details. I will have my driver pick you up. It’s your call, Ms.Jung.”
Jimin extended his soft hand to Luckis sunken form, waiting for her to take hold of it. She did, using it to bring herself up to her feet.
She wiped her tears and held onto the card for dear life, thanking Jimin for his kindness. He nodded and retreated into his expensive car, officially driving away from the scene.
The card found its way into the back pocket of Luckis trousers, secured. It was placed there until Lucki arrived at the bar, where it was then removed and placed directly in Luckis dirty hands.
Her entrance wasn’t expected, but even if it was, nobody was prepared for what appeared in front of them.
Nobody had ever seen their leader so broken before, so morose and fatigued. She looked as if she imploded onto herself, she was no longer standing tall instead…….slouching. Black lines outlined her under-lids, and her eyes were extremely puffy. Her scleras were bloodshot, a dead giveaway at what she had been up to for the past week or two that she was gone. Nobody was counting, but it’s not like they weren’t either. Who wouldn’t notice the absence of their commander and chief, the person who called every shot?
The room only silenced, all eyes watched their once abrasive leader struggle to put one foot in front of the other, on a course to her office. They continued to stare at her door too, after she weakly closed it behind her, sealing herself off from the outside world.
Noise slowly traveled through the bar once again but not without reluctance. Everyone needed a moment to process what they had just seen.
The processing everyone was in the middle of was briefly interrupted, as Hoseok and Sunny entered the bar, only a minute later. Sunny approached the bartender on shift, whispering in their ear. They took off their apron, and handed it to her. Sunny made her way to the back of the bar counter, resuming the old bartenders shift. She immediately put a warm smile on her face, genuinely tending to the newly-arrived customers.
Hoseok watched his fiancé tenderly. He loved the way she wore her big heart on her sleeve.
Her eyes met his, and sent him off to his sisters side.
Hobi knocked on the door and silently let himself into his sisters office.
It was almost like their story was a Bible verse. It was some kind of prophecy. Hoseok would be left to quietly be his sisters keeper whenever her wounds were too deep. When the time came that she couldn’t fend for herself any longer, he would turn into her hero figure for a while. It was a never ending cycle, one that Hoseok wished would end. He was tired of seeing his sister get in these situations, and now that Carmen wasn’t here, it was even worse for her.
He knew this, all of it. He had spent a myriad of time thinking of Carmens absence and it’s thousands of downsides. He knew that this would happen, and it would somehow only get worse from here.
Until then, he would continue to stick by his sister. Until he was proven wrong, he would be by her side like glue.
“Y/n, y/nnie…….wake up….”
Lucki was dead-slumbered against her hard wooden desk. Her snores seemed to tune Hoseok out each time he called for her, so he just tapped her instead.
She shot up, clearly startled. The cocked pistol in her hand proved the point that her delirious state was taking control of her slowly.
“Relax, y/n. It’s just me. There’s no need to be hostile after nap time.”
“Sure. You’re right, I just…..Hobi I’ve been on total edge lately. What the fuck am I gonna do without her? I’m fucked.”
“I understand but, you still need to take some kind of care for your mental. I only woke you up because I wanted to check on you.”
Lucki nodded and plopped down against her desk once more. She needed a drink. She needed pills, she needed.
She didn’t need any of that shit. She needed Carmen back. All the other stuff was the substitute. A remedy, or addiction for a broken heart. Her broken heart. What she really could use was time to think. Lucki realized she had a gang that still needed her supervision and guidance. If she was drunk all the time, how could she do her job?
A knock on the door interrupted her brief inner-monologue. Lucki and Hoseok looked to the door and waited for someone to enter.
At the door was Sunny, with two sultry men standing fairly tall behind her. They looked like the feds, which was a cause for concern. The feds never even weaved through that bar for a damn drink, what the fuck could they be doing there? Did someone get caught? Were they busted?
Shakily Sunny explained, “These men….erm….wanna talk to you Luck. I’ll be right out.”
Hoseok and Lucki exchanged curious glances once again. Lucki reached for her pistol again, her radar on red alert.
“We are the FBI. We know who you are, you’re Y/N Jung. We have some questions to ask you.”
Hoseok removed his gaze from his sister to the two chairs that waited on the other side of her desk. He pulled them out and motioned for the two men to take a seat in them.
“I am Detective Kim, and this is Detective Min. It’s nice to meet you, Ms.Jung,” Detective Kim greeted with his hand held out. Lucki just glared between his face and his hand, and awkward energy filled the room.
“Oh….ok. We are both from the FBI and-
“You’ve said that already”, interrupted Lucki.
“What do you want?”
Hobi tensed up and shot Lucki a scolding look.
“Y/n! I’m so sorry, she means, how can we help?”
“You can let go of your gun Ms.Jung. We aren’t here to arrest anyone, or hurt anyone. We’re just here to ask questions.”
The agents exchanged glances and pulled out a creme colored folder. They gently placed it on the table, agent min held a palm over it.
“We were at the funeral today. We understand that Ms.Mendoza was murdered from reports that we’ve accumulated. She’s not the only one who’s been murdered so gruesomely in the past month.”
Detective Min handed Hoseok the folder. “Be careful looking through it. There‘s photos of the deceased and their bodies at their respective crime scenes, including Ms.Mendoza.”
Carmen was found with a gunshot wound through her head, and another through her heart. The coroner had stated that she died instantly; Carmen couldn’t even be saved. Her heart stopped as soon as the bullet passed through her cranium. But now it was certain; she wasn’t the only one found like this. She wasn’t the only one who died like that.
Hoseok flipped through the photos, wincing at every single one of them. He prayed that he wouldn’t come across Carmens. He didn’t want to see her like that, which was the same reason why he agreed to her burial prior to her proper funeral date. He wanted to remember her alive, not left for dead.
A blonde woman with wavy hair and green eyes turned up in the deck of evidence. Hoseoks eyebrows furrowed deeply and caught the attention of the investigators present at the table.
“I know this girl. Veronica Lakes.”
Min and Kim exchanged glances, and then looked up at Hoseok.
“You know Ms.Lakes? How are you affiliated with her?”
“We used to work for the red witches gang together. We both worked for Redrum.”
The red witch made Detective Mins ears ring. A few years ago, he had been assigned to a case concerning Redrum. He was totally cocky, until the red witch proved a formidable opponent to even the FBI. She outsmarted them in every way. Whilst they had a line, she had a web of connections. In just a matter of weeks, she turned the world against the organization, and turned the bureau on their heads.
Everyone believed her come-up story was just a myth. A prostitute turned gang leader wasn’t your typical rags to riches story, but, the red witch wasn’t typical. Her opposition to the word blindsided those assigned to the case.
Detective Min hated the red witch then, and he hated the mention of her name now.
Finally, the mention led him to ask a question, for the first time in this whole interaction.
“What was your occupation under the red witch? Did Ms.lakes work with you under the same task?”
Hoseok sighed. Redrum didn’t exactly evoke pleasant emotions in him.
“Well, I babysat the red witches kids. The youngest two, the one who’s the leader now, and her youngest daughter. Veronica was a servant for the witch. We both worked in her house, and we became friends out of the need for company. She left before me though. I heard she wronged the gang, so she was dealt with, but I never knew how.”
Realization spread across Kim’s face. “Ms.Lakes was murdered a month ago. Everyone in this folder was murdered within a two month span. Do you recognize anyone else in the folder? The witch may have something to do with this.”
“She wouldn’t.” Hoseok objected. “The witch died about two years ago. If she wronged the witch she would’ve been dead as soon as word spread.”
Min shot up. “The witch is dead? How do you know?”
“One of my old buddies called me and told me. It was a murder. Nobody knows who did it. Even then, I don’t think anyone would wanna take revenge on anyone that wronged her. When I worked there, most people hated her and if you didn’t hate her, you didn’t love her either.”
Min and Kim defeatedly sighed simultaneously. Every time they felt they had a lead, the rug was pulled out from underneath them. Kim felt like punching his head repeatedly. This was his fucking big break. He couldn’t catch it, no matter what he did.
“Is there anyone to confirm your information?”
“Hmm. I’m still in some form of contact with the new leader. I haven’t seen him in person for a long time, but if I call him, you’ll be able to get in touch with him. He can confirm my information.”
“What’s your relationships with the son?”
Lucki piped up, the old memories of her seventeenth year on Earth floating up in her brain. “I used to be best friends with the son of a bitch. He was a pussy when I knew him but, now I hear he’s a big shot.”
Hoseok smacked his lips. “I’ve said several times I babysat the kid.”
The detectives nodded. Their work here was somewhat done. At least they had gotten a sliver more of information.
“What’s his name?”
“Jungkook. Jeon Jungkook.”
The evidence file was promptly closed and clasped. The men stood up and began towards the door, before turning around.
“We left our contacts on the table. Don’t hesitate to call us if you find out anything else about the case. We want to bring Justice for everyone in this folder, including Ms.Mendoza.”
Lucki pursed her lips. Those men knew what they were trying to do. Using her best-friend to push their needs to the top of her list was a shit move in her eyes.
“I’m sure you do. Now get out of my office.”
The men exited, leaving the looming frustration of Lucki behind them.
“Y/n,” Hoseok started. “These people wanna help us. You can’t just say fuck them! They want to help us out and you don’t even care.”
Lucki slammed her fist against her desk and faced her brother.
“I do care! I do! They just wanna use us to get their little paychecks. What do we get out of this? Of course I want justice for Carm but, what’re they gonna give us for exposing our lifestyles? They’re gonna give us jail Hobi. Jail.”
Hoseok paused, bitterly and utterly confused. He couldn’t understand where his sister was going with her accusation against the actual FBI. He understood that death was taking a heavy toll on his sisters mind but, this was just ridiculous.
He saw Lucki reaching for her phone, and speedily dialing an unknown number into her cellphone.
“Who is that?” He asked.
“You don’t know him.” Lucki simply answered.
“Cmon,” Hoseok said. “I know a lot of people. What’s his name?”
Lucki rolled her eyes. “His name is Park Jimin, but he said that people call him J.”
“It sounds familiar…….”
“You say that about everyone.”
Hoseok took a seat in front of his sister. He grabbed one of her hands and stared into her eyes, trying to appeal to her sea of irrational emotions.
“I just want to know who it is because I want you to be safe. I am worried about you, y/n. I already lost Carmen, and I don’t want to lose you either. You’re starting to scare me. Promise me you won’t get hurt,”
Y/n sighed deeply. She was nineteen now, almost twenty years old. She was sure she could fend for herself against this man. She figured if Jimin wanted to hurt her, he would’ve dazzled her with his demonic wealth instead of showing her the genuine kindness of his heart.
“I promise Hobi. I’ll be fine.”
Hoseok lovingly patted Luckis head.
“Ok. You promised.”
Luckis attention returned back to her answered phone. She put the phone up to her ear and was startled when she heard such a feminine voice speak.
Hello! Who is this calling?
Y/n cleared her throat. “It’s Ms.Jung. I’m calling for Park Jimin? He said we could meet when I was ready to speak.”
One second please!
Please send your address to this number promptly. A limousine should be able to pick you up in ten minutes. We have drivers everywhere.
The phone clicked, leaving y/n to her own devices. The FBIs little pop-in told her nothing about who killed Carmen. All it did was make her upset. Jimin was essentially her last resort: if his leads and evidence were faulty, there was no other hope.

“Hyung, did you hear me? I said-"
Kim Namjoon sighed from the other line, headache already creeping up his temples from the boatload of information Jimin was dumping on him on the other line. As who he considered to be the only sound and sane one among the seven, Namjoon was accustomed to being the voice of reason, getting the boys out of tight illegal situations, and managing the members. Min Yoongi might be the head of the mafia, but all seven of them were leaders in their own right and fields.
Seokjin was the head of the medical field, Namjoon of the twisted world of law, Jungkook of the technology world.
And this definitely was one of Namjoon’s specialties: stopping the fearless and heart-stricken leader of Bangtan from kidnapping a woman in broad daylight. For fuck’s sake, he wasn’t even against the illegal act itself, but could he just do it when there weren’t eyes watching him?! When the sun wasn’t at its highest?! When he wouldn’t be tomorrow’s headline?!
He ran his hand through his disheveled hair, glaring at the eldest hyung who was chuckling to himself. Seriously, he thought doctors were supposed to have no life and no time to annoy their friends? Why then was the Chief of the hospital barging in his office and lounging on his fancy sofa?
“I’m glad you found this amusing, hyung,” he commented dryly which only made the eldest laughed harder. “This isn’t something to laugh about.”
“What?! We all know something is definitely wrong with Yoongi. This isn’t news to us! This only confirmed our suspicions!”
“You could at least be supportive of what he’s going through right now.”
“Namjoon,” he started when he was finally done laughing, wiping the tears from the side of his eyes. “How do you expect me to be supportive of him right now? He’s on the verge of kidnapping a woman because he thought she looked like her. Does that make sense to you?”
He tilted his head before standing up, his movement elegant as he crossed the room to where Namjoon was sitting behind his desk. He smiled down at him, his hand supporting his weight as he leaned down on his wooden desk. “Dead people don’t exactly come back to life after burning from a fire as immense as that one, do they?” he asked, his tone light yet his eyes held faux curiosity. And at that moment, an air of danger surrounded the office. He could see the coldness that reflected on Jin’s eyes.
Namjoon knew when to back down, especially when Jin was in this mood. It was almost comical how quickly Jin’s emotions could switch, and it was definitely not amusing how bloody the effects could be. He wasn’t exactly the mafia prince for nothing. He, of all people, knew how perceptive and strategic Jin was. Never once did he do anything without a reason. And precisely because of that that it took him a moment before he answered. He lowered his eyes for a second before returning to Jin’s now amused ones. “They don’t, hyung.”
Jin nodded before turning to leave, his hand was in his pocket, his stance relaxed as though nothing was amissed. He had opened the door when he paused as though he remembered something. He twisted his body, his eyes trained on the famous attorney before his lips twisted into an entertained smile. His finger was now resting on his lips.
“Ah, unless they’re actually not dead.”
—-
Min Yoongi was like a man possessed, never leaving any stones unturned as he religiously looked for his angel.
He looked at every single piece of record of the town that the town had, employed several people to look for you, searched every available CCTV to trace any evidence that you existed, that you weren’t merely a figment of his imagination, that you weren’t merely indication of his declining sanity. Yet all roads lead to nothingness.
It was like any leads he got were mere fragments, offering little clarity or direction in the investigation. Likewise, it seemed as if someone was making sure that he’d go nowhere with the little pieces of evidences he was able to gather of your existence.
As days turned to weeks and to months, he was starting to be convinced that you were just his imagination playing tricks on him, that his mind was just too cruel to conjure an image of you, that it was just too sick to think that you came back to him. In this moment of profound longing, when the ache of your absence weighed heavily on his twisted soul, he couldn’t help but ponder about his choices in life.
On some days when he missed you the most, he thought that this must have been his karma for living his fucked-up life brutally. On a day like this when he should have been celebrating your birthday, when you were supposed to turn a year older, when you were supposed to be by his side as you blew your candle, he thought that this must have been his penance, a consequence of the twisted journey he had decided to walk on.
But wasn’t this just too painful?
Wasn’t his punishment too cruel to have the world gave him you, only to wretch you away from his arms?
Wasn’t it too cruel to have loved and lost you?
Yoongi let out a humorless chuckle, the puffs of smoke coming from his lips as he looked at what once was your home. It was your birthday, and tomorrow was your second death anniversary.
How he survived the existence without you, he would never know. He decided that he would never stop looking for you because accepting that you were gone from this fucking earth was not an option. He could feel inside the dead heart of his that yours were still beating. He knew a love as immense as what he felt for you wouldn’t die as easily as that. No.
Min Yoongi would find you.
“Happy birthday, my angel,” he whispered to nothingness, only the moon bore witness to his greeting, the night enveloped him in a solitary embrace. The echoes of his sentiment lingered in the air, hoping that his words reached you where you were.
---
“Happy birthday, eomma,” Jung Hoseok finished the song lightly, clapping the chubby little hands of your son in sync with the tune of the song. Your son was giggling as he bounced him on his lap, looking over his long lashes to Hoseok.
“Careful, the candle’s just in front of you,” he warned before shuffling the cake an inch closer to you. He came home almost an hour ago from his work in the docks with a box of cake in his hands he bought. You could no longer count how many times the three of you moved over the year, the last one being the most suspicious to you when after you came home from the market, he had already packed your bags. Before you knew it, he was already driving away from the town.
You lived in so many places.
You never felt at home in any of them.
It was unfair how you only felt at home when you were in his arms.
You clutched your walking stick on one hand, the other cautiously running your hand on the table to detect the cake’s placement.
“I’m not fully blind yet, Hoseok,” you admonished him teasingly before closing your eyes and wishing with all your heart that your son grew up happy. You wished to the heavens that his fate was kinder to him, that he didn’t have to suffer the way you did. You prayed that his fate was free from the shadows that haunted your own past.
You wished that he could live the life he deserved.
“Eomma,” he called for you, lifting his chubby arms to go to you. Hoseok cooed at him before lifting him to your lap carefully. You felt the warmth of his little arms encircling your neck, tiny lips pressing sweet kisses on your cheeks before erupting into giggles. "Eomma!"
A smile graced your face as you soaked in the pure joy radiating from your beloved child. Leaning in, you planted a loving kiss on the person you now cherished most in the world. His eyes lit up in response, a mirror image of his father's, carrying the same warmth and affection he did when he looked at you.
Hoseok watched the two of you from his seat. It was almost comical how he loathed your son’s father with all his heart, only to love his son with the same intensity. If he couldn’t end that bastard brother of his, if he didn’t have it in him to finish the job and kill you, then he would just take the life Yoongi was supposed to live.
He would never let go of the two of you- not when he found peace in this little family. The only way he would let go of this was if the only person he loved came back to him. But that was impossible, right? After all, Yoongi made sure that she would cease to exist in this world.
Wasn’t this the crueler revenge, he thought. Wasn’t this what Min Yoongi deserved?
It was almost amusing to think how he could have been dead if not for one of his brothers that saved him and you that fateful night. He could have almost missed this little slice of heaven had it not been for his brother, the only one who knew that he was still alive.
---
Almost two years ago, somewhere in a small province of South Korea
You woke up with a start, your heart beating faster as evidenced by the spike in the heart monitor attached on your bruised skin. The rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor, attached to your bruised skin, echoed in the room, its pace mirroring the accelerated beat of your heart. The sudden awareness left you momentarily disoriented, and the sterile environment around you hinted at the gravity of the situation. As your senses sharpened, you couldn't shake the feeling that the throbbing in your chest was not only from the abrupt awakening but also from the lingering echoes of a disconcerting dream or a painful reality.
Every single thing that happened went back to you.
Every single detail of that night, of the way he smiled so tenderly at you, of the way he softly told you that he would be back, of the way a strange man entered your house and threatened you.
The recollection was vivid, etched into your consciousness like a haunting melody.
You remembered the way Suga’s face became cold the moment he saw that man. You remembered not seeing even a trace of the man you loved.
You remembered the truth and the pain that came with it, and then you remembered thinking it was your end. Beyond it all, beyond all the betrayal, lies and deceit that unfolded, you remembered wishing that he would be fine after all of that like the fool you were.
Wincing, you lifted your fragile hand to your shoulder, feeling a faint pain where the bullet had pierced your skin.
“Don’t move,” a tired voice sounded on your left. Startled, you turned to look at the source, only to find the man who attempted to kill you leaning against the wall, his own arm bandaged, his handsome face colored with faint bruises.
Hoseok didn’t come out of it unscathed, no. He looked so hallow. It was like he was a lost child, like a man that lost his purpose, like he was a shell of what once was a soul.
He must have seen your alarmed expression. He waved his other arm, his jaw clenching from the events that transpired. “I’m not gonna hurt you.”
You blinked at him, never trusting a word that came out of his mouth. It would be difficult for you when you saw how he unleashed hell that night.
“I-I,” you swallowed, your dried throat making it harder to speak. “d-don’t believe y-you.”
He watched you for a moment before nodding his head. That was fair, he thought. “How are you feeling? You’ve been unconscious for almost a month.”
What?
“Y-you waited that long to kill me?” you asked, your voice hoarse as you sat down. If he was going to end you, then you wouldn’t take it lying down.
Wordlessly, he crossed the room, lifting the glass of water on your bedside table, the straw turned to you. “Drink.”
You glared at him, distrust and anger in your eyes as you met his emotionless ones.
“I’m not going to kill you.”
You scoffed, turning your head away from him to look at where on earth you could have been. The hospital room was small, the window offering no clue as to your whereabouts. You wondered where Suga could have been.
Did he make it out alive?
Was he hurt?
Was he looking for you?
Did you want him to after what you knew?
“I do draw the line on killing expectant mothers.”

It starts like quite a few stories do, in your world. Girl meets boy, who happens to be a hybrid, girl buys him at an auction where hybrids are sold, boy falls in love with her, girl gets bored of him. Then it’s not so typical anymore, when the boy ends up forced into illegal fighting rings, until he makes a wrong move and the girl’s father decides he needs to be killed. Where does that leave you? Well, you’re the one who handled Jungkook’s fight and generally organized his life, and, when the girl’s father, your boss and mafia leader, tells you he wants him ‘put down’, you’re the one who has to get it done. Except, instead, you let him escape, and everything turns out fine. Until he comes back.

An: I got a little carried away with a few of them ahh sorry!
SEOKJIN: 1.7K
Jin shook his head at you as he continued to walk around his home office in search of everything he was going to need for the night. You'd started fighting with one another the second you found out that he was going to be gone for the night.
"You don't even see a problem with it do you?" You yelled as you stared at your husband who was, once again, getting ready to leave you alone here all night long. Locked up inside of the safehouse as if you were some kind of fairytale princess that needed to be kept away from everything else in the world. Ever since you'd gotten here you'd not been outside unless it was for the baby and even then you were taken to the car door, escorted into the hospital and brought straight back here. You couldn't remember the last time you'd been able to go outside and stretch your legs for longer than two minutes. Even the balconies were off limits to you while you were here.
"No, I don't. I see me, protecting the love of my life from everything bad outside," You rolled your eyes at the statement. It was the same one he had used when he first bought you here. That was under the promise that nothing would be different and you would still have all of your freedom but all of that was a lie. Jin had practically locked you inside and threw away the key, even changing all of the combinations on the doors that lead to the outside.
"You're being insane! I just want to go out for a little while, god. Why is that so hard? Just a small walk around the Han River, what is so bad about that?" You threw your hands up in defeat and Jin turned to stare at you. He couldn't believe that you weren't able to see the possible dangers that would come along if you were seen outside in your state right now. Everyone knew of your pregnancy and it would be idiotic to let you out of the house while you were practically a walking and talking target.
"You could get kidnapped, you could get stabbed or someone could easily take you and keep you until you deliver my baby," He stated as he stared down at the bump, you looked as though you were about ready to pop which worried Jin even more. What if you go out and you go into labour while you're walking around the streets? No one but your guard would be with you and you'd be in trouble.
"Our baby! She's ours!" You grumbled, running your hands over the bump. You couldn't stand it when he referred to your baby as just "his" as if he was the only one who had a hand in creating the little bundle that was growing inside of you.
"You don't know it's a girl," He grumbled bitterly as you rolled your eyes. Not only had he called your child an "it" he'd been holding out hopes that it was going to be a boy. It wouldn't have bothered you that much but you knew that he only wanted a boy so he could take over Jin's empire without hassle. God forbid if a woman became the leader of his entire life's work.
"Will you stop calling our baby "it"? Don't you feel any kind of attachment to them? Or was it just another way to get higher up in the mafia life?!" It was a low blow and you knew that but right now you didn't care right now you were laying out all your feelings onto the table. It felt as though Jin had used you to get married and have an heir to his throne only to leave you when got exactly what he wanted from you. Everyone knew that the top dog had to have someone to pass his lifework down to and you weren't dumb. Your marriage had been an arrangement at first until the two of you truly fell in love with one another.
"You didn't just say that?" He grumbled, his voice sounded hurt but you stood your ground. It was about time he heard how he was making you feel.
"I did. Because that's what it feels like! You're never here! You're always out of the house, you miss appointments and I can't remember the last time you spoke to our child," Jin shook his head as he began to walk out of the office, you were hot on his trail following him into the main entrance of your home.
"Because it's a bump! There's no child to talk to yet," He harshly said as he turned to look at your guard. The man was around 6'3 and standing by the door to make sure you didn't try and run as soon as Jin left.
"But it doesn't mean they can't hear you," You were hurt by the whole thing. From everything, you'd read about other people and their babies the father had always been so attentive and caring toward the mother and bump. You wanted that with Jin, you knew he wasn't the big and scary man he made himself out to be since he'd always been soft with you.
"You're being ridicilous," Jin said as he shook his head at you, no longer wanting to have this discussion, he was going to be late.
"I'm being ridiculous?! I haven't spent a night with my husband in three months. You're never here!" You screamed out as he turned his back on you and began to put his keys into the door, unlocking it as you stared at the back of his head. Tears rushed to your eyes as you realised he was just going to walk out even after you expressed you didn't want him to.
"So you're just going to walk away?"
"There's nothing to talk about and I have to get to work." He murmured as he got the door unlocked and turned to look at you, his heart broke seeing you crying but he wasn't going to back down. There was no way he was going to risk you going outside and getting hurt and all of this overtime was for you. If he could get everything he needed to do done and out of the way he could spend more time with you when the baby came.
"Nothing to talk about? So you don't want to talk about how you haven't been to a single scan since the first one?" You questioned, folding your hands over your chest as he shook his head,
"No."
"Or that your wife feels as though you don't love her anymore all because she got pregnant?" The statement hit him harder than he was expecting it to do but all he did was walk out of the door, slamming it shut with brute force behind him.
[X]
When he got home he expected to find you in bed but you weren't there, then he frantically checked every other room in the house and began to yell for all of his men to find you. He'd come back a few hours later after leaving the house, he'd bought flowers and all of your favourite snacks as a form of apology. He'd not been able to concentrate on anything at the office and all he wanted was to come back to you but when he got home you were gone. Completely gone. Your guard was out cold on the sofa and the bedroom was empty, including every other room inside of the safehouse.
"This wouldn't have happened if you hadn't fallen asleep!" Jin screamed as he walked around the Han River, all of his men covering every inch of it and walking in different directions in the hopes of finding you.
"Sir,"
"No. You're an imbecile! How could you let a pregnant woman drug you?!" He screamed as he thought about the sleeping tablets he'd found inside the kitchen. It was rather smart of you but Jin wasn't going to admit that,
"If even so much as a hair is hurt on her I'll end you. I will torture you with torture that hasn't even been invented yet," He warned before turning to look around for you, calling your name out over and over again.
"We found her," One of his men panted, pointing over to a bench that was overlooking the river. They'd all tried to get you to leave but it wasn't going to happen any time soon when you didn't want to go anywhere.
"I told you not to go out," Jin stated as he came and sat down beside you, you didn't even turn your head to look at him and it worried him. It wasn't like you to be this calm and he couldn't stand it.
"I needed fresh air," You mumbled, shivering a little as you stared down at the water. It was a beautiful night and you were glad you'd snuck out when you did. It'd been too long since you got to sit under the stars,
"Do you have any idea how worried I've been?" Jin quizzed as he slipped off his blazer and put it over your shoulders, staring at you as you didn't even react to him touching you.
"Don't worry. Your baby is fine." You were being frank with him and he couldn't stand it, he should have just stayed home and taken a walk with you then none of this would be happening.
"I was worried about the both of you," He told you, reaching his hand out and squeezing yours but you just move your hand away from him making him flinch.
"Don't lie. We both know you're only worried something might happen to your baby and you'll not have anyone to pass it down to." You stared at the water and Jin stood up and blocked your view.
"I came home to take you out, to go for a walk before the two of us would go home and watch sappy movies all night long," Your heart clenched as you stared up at Jin, it was obvious now that he'd been crying and you whimpered a little.
"I freaked out when I saw you were gone...Please...Don't take my protectiveness as not caring. I've been working overtime in hopes of being able to spend more time with you when the baby comes,"
"Jin..." Your voice trembled as you got up from the bench and stood in front of him, placing your hand on his chest as he looked down at you with tear-filled eyes.
"I assure you that I would never do something if I didn't think it was for the best," You smiled weakly at the statement before kissing his lips softly.
"Take me home," You begged as he nodded his head and took your hand in his, all of his men walking behind you and making sure you weren't being followed.
"Nice job on the sleeping tablets," Jin whispered as you finally made your way back into the safehouse. A smirk grew on your lips as you stared up at him,
"I'm a genius, are you ready for sappy movies?" You quizzed as you took your husband's hand in yours and began to pull him toward the bedroom.

YOONGI:1.3K
The doctor's office was cold with your bump exposed the way it was but you were just sitting on the bed while the nurse watched you nervously. Your guard was manned outside of the door to make sure no one would come in while you were in a vulnerable spot.
"You said you would be here," You grumbled down the phone to Yoongi who hadn't bothered to show up for your final baby scan. You were inside the doctor's office sitting on the bed refusing to let her touch you until your husband was here. But as it turned out he was going to be a no show,
"I know but I'm running late and I have a shipment to take care of because Jimin-"
"I don't want to hear your excuses. I wanted you here." It sounded childish but this was your child, the child that you and Yoongi had made together and he was treating this as if it was all some kind of joke to him.
"Yn, you know what this life is like." Yoongi sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose as he overlooked everything that was on the desk in front of him. He would have killed to be with you right now but some things just couldn't be helped, especially when he had dumb workers who weren't doing what they were supposed to be,
"I don't care. This is our child and you're supposed to be a part of all of this," You mumbled bitterly, glancing at the nurse who was doing everything she could to avoid looking in your direction. All of the hospital staff were under strict obligations not to mess with you or Yoongi and you knew that he'd gotten the best of the best inside of the hospital to take care of you.
"Babe," Yoongi sighed, getting up from his chair and going to grab his jacket. If it meant that much to you he was just going to put someone else in charge of the order and get there as quickly as possible.
"Don't babe me," You snapped, it was the same passive-aggressive tone he would use whenever he wanted to be condescending to you and you couldn't stand it. You'd done everything he'd told you to since getting pregnant.
You cut down on what food he wanted, you didn't go out as much because you knew you were a walking target and not to mention you'd even agreed to private health care when you were perfectly fine with your original health care.
"I'll be there as soon as I can. I don't think I'll make it to the scan though," He stated as he looked down at his watch. The scan should have started five minutes ago but you'd refused to until you knew whether or not he was coming.
"Whatever." You grumbled before hanging up and staring at the nurse, waiting for her to begin the scan.
"Miss Yln, I don't think Mr Min would want you to do this." Your personal guard said as you walked straight past the car that you were supposed to be climbing inside of. Yoongi still hadn't shown up and you'd waited for well over an hour now, you refused to wait inside of a hospital any longer than you had done already.
"Mr Min can take it up with someone who cares," You mumbled as you slammed the door shut and continued to walk along the streets. Your guard stared at you anxiously as he didn't know whether to follow you or wait for Yoongi to drop by.
"You can come with me if you're worried," You smirked as the guard began to follow along with you.
[X]
"Where have you been?!" Yoongi yelled as you suddenly walked into the house, staring at him and all of the police that was inside your living room.
"I went shopping," You said as if it was the most casual thing in the world, dismissing the policemen as you walked right past them and stood in front of Yoongi who looked as though he'd seen a ghost.
"I got some cute baby onesies and then we went and got some toys," You told him with a giant smile, holding up all of the bags you were carrying - which weren't many since Hoseok told you he would carry everything for you.
"We?"
"Me and Hobi," You said as you pointed at the struggling guard, he was attempting to bring in all of the heavy boxes. Everything you had purchased was in his hands, it had taken multiple trips to get everything into the house.
"You went out?"
"Yeah, I knew we were in need of some toys and you weren't going to take me anytime soon," Yoongi sighed as he told the police to leave and sent most of his men with Hobi upstairs to the nursery to drop off everything you bought.
"Was it payback for me missing the appointment?" Yoongi sighed as he realised you had done this all out of retaliation. When he showed up at the hospital he completely freaked out about you not being there. He saw the car and instantly thought that something awful had happened to you. Then when Hoseok stopped answering his messages Yoongi felt so sick he called every police department in the district, there was no way he was going to let something happen to you.
"Hmm?" You asked, turning to look at him and feeling a pang of guilt as you saw the state of your husband. His hair was all over the place and it looked as though he had been crying for a while now. You never would have done it if you thought he was going to cry, you just needed to get out for a while and enjoy being out of the house.
"Making me sick with worry, getting Hoseok to ignore direct orders and ignoring all of my calls. Was it payback?" His voice cracked as he moved closer to you, taking your hands in his and giving them a tight squeeze as you bit down on your lip. Maybe you had gone a little overboard with making Hoseok promise not to text Yoongi, you just hoped he wouldn't get into trouble for something you had ordered him to do.
"Maybe," You admitted shyly and he let out a small chuckle, even if you had annoyed him by running away he still found you incredibly adorable with the way you were acting.
"Maybe?"
"Yeah, I was mad at you and I didn't want to come home right away," You licked your lips slowly and turned to look up at your husband. It was wrong and you knew that and it was petty but all you wanted was to have your husband by your side during a pregnancy scan. What was so hard about that?
"Yn, you know the dangers, something terrible could have happened to you." He looked at you and you smiled a little, looking down at the small onesie in your hand. It had all been worth it to you since you managed to get everything you wanted for the baby.
"I know but we needed to get stuff too..." You looked at him and he smiled down at you shaking his head slowly as he thought about it. If you'd asked he would have taken you in a heartbeat,
"I would have taken you, all you had to do was ask."
"Really?" Your eyes lit up and he felt bad that you hadn't thought about asking him in fear of him saying no.
"Yes, you know I can't say no to you." He chuckled and you let out a small giggle at the thought of it. It was true, you could still remember asking him for something embarrassing in front of all of his men and he did it without even thinking.
"Hmm it is a huge weakness of yours," You smirked as he pulled you close to him, smiling down at you as you let out a whine at the feeling of being moved. You were completely tired and didn't want to move for the foreseeable future.
"Which you happily exploit," He teased before you kissed him softly, slowly moving off the sofa to go and show off everything you had gotten for the baby.

HOSEOK:1.2K
The longer you went on about all of this the more Hoseok wanted to go to work, which was something he'd been dodging for the last month. With you being so close to your birth date Hoseok wanted to spend as much time with you at home as possible in case you went into labour but the longer he sat here the more he regretted that. Maybe he should have gone to work and got one of his men to message him when the moment was coming. At least that way he would have been able to avoid all of this happening.
"I was not looking at her," Hoseok grumbled as he followed you through the house and into the living room of your luxury home. The two of you had just gotten home from having some lunch outside when you decided to pick a fight on the way home. You claimed that Hoseok had been checking out the waitress that had been serving you but he really wasn't. In fact, the whole time at lunch he was on edge expecting someone to come over and spark a conversation with him when all he wanted was to be alone with you. It had been so long since the two of you actually had some time alone together and he had very much been looking forward to it.
"Sure, just like you didn't stare at her ass," You grumbled while taking off your shoes and sighing out at the comfort you got about not having to wear them. Pregnancy was no joke and you were pooped just from walking from the car into the house.
"I wasn't. In case you haven't noticed, I only have eyes for one woman in my life and she is standing right in front of me," Hoseok smiled at you as he pointed to the ring he had on his finger but you still weren't convinced. You know for a fact you'd seen him looking at her perky little ass and you hated that it wasn't yours that he was looking at.
"You haven't looked at me that way since we got pregnant," You mumbled annoyingly at him. Ever since you'd gotten pregnant you felt as though he had been ignoring you and looking for someone younger, someone better. Someone that didn't look as though they had swallowed a planet. But that was the joys when you were carrying twins.
"I look at you that way all of the time you just never notice," Hoseok sighed as he sat down on the sofa and rubbed the bridge of his nose. He knew that your hormones were going to be all over the place but he never would have imagined that they would get this bad.
"I only have eyes for you babe," He cooed while holding his arms open, expecting you to walk right into them and smile but you didn't. You walked past him and shook your head, there was no way he was going to sweet talk his way out of this one.
"You can look at whoever you want, you're Jung Hoseok, the most feared man in Seoul." You said dramatically while walking toward the bedroom, you wanted to change into a baggy shirt and eat your cravings, not having to worry about anything else right now.
"Yn, you're being a little childish, don't you think?" You froze as soon as you heard the words leave his mouth, your body turned slowly and it creeped Hoseok out a little. It was like one of the scary movies where the ghost slowly turns around and just stared at the camera.
"wow! So now I'm childish?!" Hoseok groaned rolling his head back against the back of the sofa, it was going to be a long night if you were going to sit and pick on everything he was going to say.
"Yn, come on! I didn't mean it, I was just-" He stopped speaking when you slammed the bedroom door and he groaned staring up at the ceiling.
"It's going to be a long night," He mumbled to himself before shutting his eyes in hopes of getting a little sleep.
[X]
When Hoseok finally woke up he checked the time and decided he needed to go and check on you. It was almost four in the morning and he was ready to kiss and make up with you - providing that you'd calmed down a little first.
"Hey, baby?" He whispered while walking into the bedroom only to find the bed completely empty and all of the lights were switched on.
"Yn?!" He cried out while running toward the balcony door that was wide open, the balcony gate wide open since it was on the ground floor and looked right out into the back garden.
"Babe! You out there?!" He yelled while walking into the back garden to find absolutely no sign of you anywhere in sight and he rushed back inside to grab his gun and phone in the hopes of finding you.
[X]
"Welcome to your new home," You giggled while walking into the house with a puppy by your feet, Hoseok looked up from the laptop in front of him and froze.
"Cancel that last order," He mumbled into the phone without taking his eyes off you, slamming his phone down as he got up from the sofa.
"Yn?! What the hell?!" He rushed toward you, holding your face in his hands and tilting it from side to side looking for any signs that you could have been hurt while you were out.
"You've been gone all morning!" He yelled as he finally realised that you were perfectly fine, you got down onto your knees and let the puppy go so he could walk around the house and get a good sense of everything.
"I bought a dog," You smiled as though there was nothing wrong with what you had done. You'd originally only gone out so that you could get some air but you'd ended up coming across an animal shelter and you couldn't just leave the little puppy alone.
"I can see that. What were you thinking?" Hoseok sighed as he followed you through the hallway and toward the kitchen so that you could give some food to the dog.
"I was thinking that the twins are going to want a dog eventually so why not get one now."
"No. I mean," Hoseok sighed as he tried to be as calm as possible about all of this so he didn't start another fight with you. All morning long he had felt unbelievably sick to his stomach, he thought someone had taken you hostage and he was seconds away from calling a raid on one of the other men's homes.
"I don't care that you got a dog, what were you thinking when you left without telling me?" You glanced at Hoseok and looked down at your hands, maybe it had been childish and immature of you but you'd been mad at him.
"I was mad at you and then I wasn't mad...I would have text but-"
"Your phone was here," He said as he held up the phone and you smiled weakly, quickly walking into his arms and hugging him tightly. "I'm sorry I was a mess yesterday, I know you didn't stare at her ass," You whispered as he rubbed your back softly, kissing the top of your head and smiling a little.
"I'm sorry I called you childish," He smiled before kissing the top of your head once more and getting you to introduce him to the new addition to the family.

NAMJON:1.4K
"I suppose you think it's funny? How funny would it be if I shot you right now?" You heard Namjoon yell followed by the cries of someone begging for their life. It wasn't something you weren't used to by any means but you were trying to sleep and the last thing you wanted was to hear your husband torturing someone in the basement of your home. Normally Namjoon wouldn't bring his work home with him but this was something different, something personal and he would be dammed if he was going to let this man get away with what he had done.
"Can you shut the fuck up?" You asked as you walked into the basement, staring down at the man that was being held onto a chair with a gag in his mouth. It looked as though the boys had just finished pouring water over a towel on his face and he looked terrified. Once again, it wasn't anything you hadn't seen before and it didn't scare you. Nothing seemed to scare you now that you were married to one of the most feared men in Seoul, no one messed with you. You were completely untouchable to everyone around you.
"Yn, go upstairs," Namjoon ordered not lifting his eyes from the man in front of you who seemed to be staring at you, smirking under the gag that was inside of his mouth. You eyed the man up before turning to look at Namjoon, you didn't care what Namjoon did as long as the man didn't wake you up anymore.
"Not until you get him to shut up, cut out his tongue if you have to. Some of us are trying to sleep and your baby appears to be trying to keep me awake." You grumbled at him. It had been two weeks of broken sleep for you and you were beginning to get driven up the wall. All you wanted was one decent night of peaceful sleep but it appeared as though it was never going to happen for you.
"Babe, please." There was a slight pleading tone to Namjoon's words and you stared at him confused, he'd never gotten like this with you before when you'd walked in on him doing something like this.
"Joonie?" You frowned before everything happened within a couple of seconds, the chair hit the floor and people scrambled to grab hold of the man that was now on the loose and running straight for you but he never made it to you. A loud gunshot sounded and the guy hit the floor right beside your feet, splattering your face with blood as you turned to look at your husband in shock. Your whole body was shaking as you realised the man had been attempting to grab you and if it hadn't been for Namjoon he probably would have succeeded and who knows what could have happened.
"I told you to fucking go upstairs!" He boomed out, his face turning red as he got angry with you. How could you not follow a simple instruction?
"Are you that dumb you don't know how to follow a fucking order?!" He yelled out without thinking about his words first, all he cared about right now was the fact that someone had just tried to attack him.
"You're saying this was my fault?! You're the idiot that didn't have him tied down!" You weren't going to let him get away with passing the blame onto you. It was simple if you were torturing someone you tied them down so they didn't have a chance to get free and leave.
"I gave you an order," Namjoon was seething with anger as he stared down at you, your eyes staring back into his with just the same amount of anger that he was giving to you.
"What did I tell you about you and your orders?!" You asked him while letting out a dry and sarcastic laugh. When you first started dating you had told him you weren't one of his men, nor were you a puppet to pull the strings of.
"Do you have any idea what he would have done to you?! What he could have done!?"
"He didn't though, I'm fine." You grumbled as you walked away from him, wanting to shower instead of standing there covered in some man's blood.
"Don't walk away from me!" Namjoon called out but you slammed and locked the bathroom door just to make a point of not following his orders and he began yelling at his men to clean everything up.
[X]
It had been two weeks. Two weeks and there were no signs of you anywhere, your phone had been turned off and left at the house so there was no way of tracking you. Namjoon knew he never should have taken the tracking device off your car and the one on your necklace, he should have known better.
"I want every house, shop, bakery and everywhere you can find searched!" Namjoon yelled at the man in front of him who appeared to be shaking. Ever since you'd walked away Namjoon had been worried sick, barely sleeping and had become more irritable than ever before. It was a miracle that most of the people he was working with weren't dead already with the way that they were acting in front of him.
"Boss," One of them mumbled as the front door opened to reveal you and your mother-in-law smiling at one another and carrying bags.
"Where the fuck have you been?!" Namjoon's voice was deep and loud as he got up from the sofa and stared over at you,
"Language," His mother scolded before taking the bags out of his hand and handing them off to one of Namjoon's many men, ordering him to take them straight up to the bedroom.
"I told you I was going to stay with your mum," You said as you watched his mother go to make some tea for everyone. The house was a complete mess and you wondered what had been going on for the last two weeks.
"No, you didn't." He mumbled trying to remember anything you might have said that would even hint as to where you might be but you had. You'd told him weeks ago that you were going to be spending some time with his mother.
"Yes, I did. Three weeks ago, I told you I'd be going to stay with her so I could get some peace and quiet." He shook his head at you, he was almost positive that he couldn't remember you saying anything.
"No."
"Namjoon! I even wrote it down on your many calendars and added sticky notes around the house." His mother could be heard laughing softly from the kitchen.
"What?" Namjoon hadn't seen any, mostly because he'd been too busy panicking to think about looking for sticky notes.
"I added one to the food in the fridge." You stared at him before realising that he probably hadn't been eating properly like he was supposed to.
"I've been...e-eating mostly take out while I was out looking for you,"
"Joonie." You sighed, walking over to him and then down at everything that was on your coffee table. A list of places that had all been ransacked as they had all been searching for you, and not to mention a list of serial killers all dead now since Namjoon thought they'd taken you.
"You could have called your mother,"
"You could have taken your phone," He countered your argument and you looked up at him, you were partly to blame for a lot of what had happened but you never would have expected any of this.
"I was mad at you," You admitted before sighing,
"Let's clean the house up, we should do that and get something- oh god," You groaned, suddenly holding your bump as you gripped onto Namjoon tightly.
"What? What is it?" He questioned repeatedly before his mother walked into the room,
"It's time," She said calmly, rushing over to you and holding your hand in hers as you began to breathe deeply through your nose trying to manage the pain as best as you could.
"Time?" Namjoon frowned staring at you as you both headed for the front door of the house,
"To have a baby," You yelled out at him as if it wasn't obvious enough what you were going through right now.
"B-But it's a month early!" Namjoon called out as he rushed to grab the "go" bag that you had waiting for you for months now, standing on the other side of you and holding your hand.
"Babies don't do schedules, son. Let's go!" His mother chuckled as she began to help you out of the house and in the direction of the car while Namjoon ordered his men to get the house prepared.

JIMIN:1.1k
The sunlight was blinding to Jimin and he groaned trying to fall back to sleep but the giant lightbulb in the sun was making it too hard for him to actually fall back to sleep.
"Fuck," Jimin grunted as he slowly rolled over in the bed to cuddle into you, only to find cold and empty sheets where you should have been sleeping. It wasn't right, he remembered going to sleep with you in his arms...or rather falling asleep in the same room as you but you weren't here now.  It wasn't like you to wake up and not wake Jimin up at the same time.
"Babe?" He called out, slowly getting up from the bed and changing into some fresh clothes. Maybe you'd gotten up to make breakfast but he couldn't hear the usual music you would play while cooking. Nor could he smell the burning of the first pancake. He rushed to check the bathrooms, maybe you were having morning sickness but you were nowhere in sight.
"Yn?" He called out once again before walking into the living room to find it completely empty. The only sign of someone being there was the cleaner and his two guards who were all staring at him and waiting for instructions to do something. It was Sunday which mean Jimin had the entire day off just to spend with you, it was upsetting to him that you had just left without a word about it.
"Sir? Can we help with anything?" One of his guards asked when he noticed how distressed Jimin appeared to be getting when he couldn't find you.
"Have you seen Yn? She didn't mention anything about going out," Jimin explained as he rubbed the back of his neck, frowning as he tried to remember anything from the night before but most of it was a blur. He'd been drinking while out to dinner with you and he'd gone a little too hard on the drinks,
"Not since last night when the two of you came home," The guard explained while shaking his head. None of them had seen you since the previous night and it was no wonder you had walked off without explanation after what they had heard.
"She hasn't checked with you before going out?" Jimin frowned, it really wasn't like you to go out without telling anyone about it. Even if you and Jimin were fighting you would usually leave a note or take a guard out with you.
"No, sir." Both of them answered, an uneasy feeling began to settle inside of Jimin as he thought about what could have happened to you. If you'd gone out alone there was a possibility someone had taken you and Jimin wanted answers.
"Check the CCTV footage for me and find her. NOW!" Jimin boomed before looking to the cleaner who was staring back at him saying nothing but Jimin could tell by the look on her face that she knew something.
"Did you see her?" He asked harshly before she shook her head,
"Not since your fight last night,"
"Fight?" Jimin couldn't remember a fight with you, at least not a big one that would make you run away from him.
"The two of you came back late and you had been flirting with someone at the bar,"
"Oh...Right,"  It all rushed back to Jimin about what had happened. The two of you had gone out to dinner when he humped into an old friend. Someone he used to date and he began to talk with her a lot, catching up with her and your pregnancy brain instantly took it as him flirting with another woman. Blowing up into a huge fight as soon as you got home until he passed out on the bed from exhaustion.
"I want her found, now." He panicked turning around and heading back up to his office to try and go through the CCTV footage he had inside of the house to see if he could see you coming or doing anywhere.
[X]
There was no sign of you anywhere, the guards had checked all of the rooms that they could find but the place was huge. Not only that but most of the cameras inside of the house hadn't been working the night before thanks to the storm and Jimin was worried you were out in the streets. So he was going out with a team while another team stayed in in case someone called or you came back home.
"What are you doing?" You asked suddenly when you saw Jimin rushing toward the front door covered in a layer of sweat and looking ill. You figured he was hungover or something but as soon as he stared at you he let out a shaky breath, You'd just come out of the spare bedroom to see him and a bunch of the guards rushing around the house looking quite panicked,
"Where the fuck have you been?" Jimin snapped harshly making you stare at him in silence, you didn't just come out of the room to be insulted. You'd come out for food and some clothes not to have someone yell at you. You were over the fight from the night before and you realised you were probably being over dramatic about everything.
"Sorry...I- Where have you been? Why didn't you tell someone where you were going?" You frowned, it wasn't as though you'd gone far and you figured he and everyone else would have seen it on the footage where you were.
"I was in the guest room. I was staying away from your drunk ass after we fought," You mumbled before he kissed the top of your head softly, bringing you closer to him as he shook his head at you.
"I'm sorry about last night, I wasn't flirting...But I'm sorry we fought so badly you slept somewhere else," He told you as he walked you toward the kitchen, nodding to the cook to start making you both something to eat.
"I'm sorry too, I think the hormones were making me crazy jealous," You admitted shyly as he shook his head at you, promising it that it was all in the past now.

TAEHYUNG:1.5K
You threw your arms around the waist of your husband and smiled as you cuddled into him. He was supposed to be getting dressed but you had been distracting him with non-stop cuddles for most of the morning. But it was finally time for him to head out for the day and he couldn't keep putting it off because of you.
"I'm going out for tteokbokki today, do you need anything while I'm out?" You quizzed as Taehyung pulled on a tie and frowned at the thought of it. You hadn't mentioned anything about going out yesterday or this morning when you were discussing the day's events. He wracked his brain trying to remember if you'd said anything to him a couple of weeks ago but he couldn't remember you saying anything or even adding it to the calendar.
"What?" He turned to face you and you began doing his tie-up for him with a giant smile plastered across your face. You'd been looking forward to going out for lunch for the last week and it had completely slipt your mind to tell Taehyung before now.
"Tteokbokki...With the girls, we want to go out for lunch together. I forgot to say something when we first made plans. But I think we're also going out shopping to get a few bits for the baby," Taehyung nodded along, he saw nothing wrong with any of this as long as you took Jimin or Hoseok with you to keep watch on you while you were out. There was no way he was going to let you go out there alone, you were like a walking target for anyone that wanted to hurt Taehyung.
"The girls?" He questioned, just to be sure he knew who was going to be there and they were who he approved of. Not that he told you who you could and couldn't hang out with but there were some people you knew who he just didn't trust.
"Me, Jin's wife, Jimin's wife...Namjoon's girlfriend said she wants to come too," You shrugged your shoulders and patted his tie down as you finished doing it for him. As soon as he heard that Namjoon's girlfriend was going he knew you weren't going to like what he had to say,
"No."
"No?" You frowned, looking up at him. It wasn't as though you were asking his permission. You'd only asked if he wanted something brought back from the shopping trip.
"No."
"I think you're confused, I wasn't asking for permission. I'm not a child." You stated while standing your ground, putting your hand onto your hip as you stared up at your boyfriend. What part of him thought he could tell you what you could and couldn't do?
"But you happen to be carrying mine."
"So? That doesn't mean you get to dictate every little thing that I do." You mumbled while heading over to the wardrobe to look for something to wear but Taehyung wasn't letting this go. There was no way on this earth that you were going to go out with Namjoon's girlfriend.
"True but you're not going out with them,"
"Why?" You turned to face him. He'd never really had a problem with you going out before and it wasn't as though you were asking to fly to another country. It was a simple girls' date in the middle of the city for food and some light shopping, you'd take the guards with you since it was a mandatory thing for you these days.
"I don't trust Namjoon's girlfriend," He answered plainly, giving you no reasoning behind the statement.
"Why?"
"Because they're not married yet, who knows what she's up to." You frowned at this, what did that have to do with anything? She just didn't want to get married and there was nothing wrong with that.
"What are you talking about?"
"She's said no to marrying him three times,  I don't trust her. She could be using him to get closer to you." You blinked at him, you could hardly believe that was what he truly believed Namjoon's girlfriend of five years could be doing. If he was right - which he wasn't - she was playing a very long game in order to get close to you.
"You're being paranoid, she's just not wanting to get married that's all. Please, I'm dying to get some tteokbokki," You groaned at the thought of it. It had been one of your pregnancy cravings lately and you were dying to get your hands on some at a specific restaurant in the city.
"No. I'm being smart. You can go for tteokbokki with Hoseok and Jimin later when they get back," He shrugged it off and you stared at him, you couldn't believe he was being this idiotic about something.
"But I don't want to go with them, I want to go with the girls so they can help me with pregnancy questions," You tried to play the pregnancy card but it wasn't going to work on him. He knew you knew everything there was since you'd read all of the pregnancy books you could possibly get your hands on and if - by some miracle - there was something else. You had the internet to ask for help.
"You have google for that,"
"Tae!" You yelled out but he was already at the bedroom door and ready to leave, he looked at you one last time before saying,
"I'm serious. You're not going and that's final." He slammed the bedroom door and you smirked to yourself, you'd just see about that.
[X]
Taehyung had done nothing but text and call you all afternoon but you were being petty and ignoring him. Decided to spend time with just Namjoon's girlfriend just to piss him off that little bit more and the two of you were finally heading home for the night. Only there were Police everywhere you turned and it was quite jarring to see them working so hard on something. You thought a child had gone missing at first but you hadn't seen any distressed parents walking around and there was no sign of a large group of people all looking for a child.
"What happened?" You asked as you moved closer to one of the officers that appeared to be hanging something up on the wall in front of him. Namjoon's girlfriend had headed to get the car while you walked to take a look at what was going on,
"We're looking for-" He turned to face you and he turned pale quickly before blushing and smiling proudly to himself,
"You."
"Me?" You frowned staring at the man,
"Yes. You!" He said as he began to point at the poser he had been hanging up. There it was in black and white, a photo of you with all of your specifications and you let out a deep groan. How could Taehyung do this? You'd gone out for a few hours and you even told him you'd be out, it wasn't your fault if he decided you weren't allowed to but went anyway.
"That reward is as good as mine," He smirked before taking your wrists and handcuffing you making you hiss out in pain, the cuffs were a little too tight and you could have sworn you felt them digging into your skin.
"Excuse me!" You cried out as he began to walk you to his patrol car,
"You're coming back to the station," He said to you as he helped you into the back of the car, you stared at him and struggled against the cuffs you were in.
"If you let me out of the handcuffs I'll come with you easily." You mumbled but he shut the door in your face and got into the front of the car.
"I'm not taking that chance, there's a million won on the line,"
[X]
"You're lucky I'm not firing you!" Taehyung yelled once he saw that your wrists were bleeding a little from how tight the officer had cuffed you.
"It hurts," You whined as he gently kissed the marks and got you out of the cell,
"Sir...About the reward," The officer said as he came closer to you and Taehyung, both of you staring down at the balding man as he had the nerve to ask for something after hurting you.
"I'll take that as a no," He said before leaving you both alone together. Taehyung shook his head and let out a small sigh,
"We'll go and see a doctor, I told you not to go out with Namjoon's girlfriend." He scolded but you ignored him, rolling your eyes a little.
"In case you aren't aware, this-" You held up your wrists for him to see,
"Was because of your dumb reward, Namjoon's girlfriend and I were having a nice day and talking about how she's planning on asking Namjoon to marry her this time," You grumbled, following Taehyung outside to his car as Taehyung stared at you, feeling bad for not trusting her enough to be alone with you.
"I just want to go home," You admitted as he kissed the top of your head, apologising to you as he helped you inside of his car.

JUNGKOOK:1.1K
That morning when Jungkook woke up to find you fast asleep he smiled to himself, he was going to be back before you even woke up if he was lucky and he would save on arguments between you both. Ever since you'd gotten pregnant the two of you seemed to be fighting a lot more but he put it down to all of the hormones within your body. So he didn't want to wake you up and tell you he was going to be gone if it meant he was going to be back soon.
Only it hadn't exactly gone to plan since he'd been at work for almost eight hours and now he wasn't able to get into contact with you. He'd been leaving voicemails all day with you and your personal guard but you must have been ignoring him for being gone.
"What do you mean she's not here?" Jungkook asked as he stared at your guard who appeared to be completely nonchalant about you not being anywhere in the house.
"She went for a walk, boss. She said you said it was okay for her to be alone," Jungkook couldn't believe what he was hearing, how could someone who worked for him be so dumb? Jungkook thought he had hired the best of the best, not some idiot who didn't think to double-check the facts that he was being given.
"And you believed her without checking with me? Are you stupid?!" He screamed making the man flinch in front of him before looking down at the floor bowing a little as he began to apologise over and over again.
"I'm sorry sir, I should have called."
"You better hope she's not dead or hurt because if she is, it'll be your life on the line!" He yelled before grabbing his keys and going on the hunt for you. You had to be somewhere, it wasn't like you to go very far when you were upset so Jungkook was going to stay calm as he checked all of the usual spots for you.
[X]
It had been hours since Jungkook left the house to come and look for you and he was starting to feel sick to his stomach. There was no call for a ransom though so he was holding out hope that you were perfectly safe and ignoring him somewhere comfortable. But he'd checked all of the usual spots he would find you when the two of you would fight. The cafe owner said he'd seen you that morning for breakfast but you'd left as soon as he had bought up Jungkook into the topic of discussion.
"I'm going to throw up," Jungkook told Jin - his right-hand man - as they walked into the house together. The police were on patrol for you trying to find you as quickly as possible and Jungkook was about half a second away from calling in outside forces if he needed to.
"She'll show up," Jin said as he noticed that your shoes were by the front door when they hadn't been earlier, it was the only sign that Jin knew you were home.
"When?! Huh?! Have you heard from her?!" Jungkook asked sarcastically before shaking his head at the man and groaning. You could have been anywhere in South Korea by now, all of that time wasted because some dumb guard - that was fired now - hadn't thought to check with Jungkook himself.
"No...But-" Jin tried to speak but Jungkook ignored him and cut him off too quickly,
"You don't understand it! Do you? She's pregnant and completely exposed when she's walking around the streets without protection! She could be killed! Someone could take her and then take the baby before killing her!"
"Sir, I don't think that's very likely." Jin once again tried to explain that you were walking toward them down the hall right behind Jungkook and you looked upset and you were. You knew it was wrong of you to run off the way that you did but you had been sick to death of your husband leaving you alone all day while you were stuck with guards. All you wanted was for him to take you out on a small walk since they were supposed to be good for the baby.
"Oh? Do you know something I don't?"
"Actually, I think-"
"You don't know anything," Jungkook said as he once again cut Jin off from what he was trying to say, you smirked a little at the sight before you felt a pang of pain radiate up and down your back before you bent over and whimpered. There was pooling in your pants from where your water had just broken.
"Sir," Jin said as he pointed behind him but Jungkook shook his head, still in a blind rage about the guard he had fired earlier that morning.
"I'm going to fucking kill that guard when I get my hands on him. How much of an idiot-"
"Junkook!" You screamed out as you stared at him, your body leaning against the wall as you panted heavily trying to catch your breath, the contractions were stronger than any of the birthing classes had ever prepared you for and you hated it.
"Baby?!"
"Jungkook...Please, we need to go." You groaned out, stepping closer to him as he wrapped his arms around your waist slowly walking with you toward the front door looking completely confused.
"Go?"
"Go! It's time to go!" You screamed before pointing down at your pants which were still wet and Jungkook's eyes widened as he realised what was going on. Panic hit him as he realised that it was finally happening and you were about to give birth to his son.
"Shit, shit! Shit!" Jungkook screamed out as he began to panic and run around looking for your "go bag" that you had packed in readiness for this moment. It was only a couple of weeks early but you were both more than ready to become parents to a beautiful baby boy, Jin smirked at you as he picked up the bag from the living room counter. It was close by the front door so that neither you nor Jungkook would forget it on the big day,
"Kookie...Lets go," You begged as you began to follow Jin out of the house, your hand getting taken by Jungkook as he mumbled everything he was going to do as soon as he got to the hospital,
"Private room, private doctors, got to call our parents and all of the men." He mumbled repeatedly as you smiled a little quickly kissing his cheek and apologising for running out on him that morning.

BTS Reaction To: The Purge Night
Mafia!Au-Purge!Au-Split!Au
Summary: experiencing the purge with your mafia boyfriend can go many different ways.
Warnings: killing/murder (obviously, it’s the purge lmao), language, stealing/robbery, slight angst, fluff (haha), suggestive comments, badass y/n, torturing, crack, nonconsensual touching from stranger, split!jungkook, character slapping reader, angst, taehyung being taehyung.
W.C.: 3.9k
Notes: hiiiii! I’m back. My life has been so chaotic and busy ever since I got my second job back in March, and so I haven’t had much time to myself to even do anything. Thankfully, I learned on how to take time for myself now and balancing everything out. Anyways! I apologize if I’m rusty with my writing, it’s been a while. And idk how to feel about taehyungs part.
Kim Seokjin:
Ever since Korea has followed along with the United States by having the annual Purge two years ago, you decided with your boyfriend to go and experience it. Now, of course, you are prepared. Having a boyfriend who is the leader of the Korean Mafia, it’s no secret that he is prepared in many ways when it comes to…illegal things.
At first, he was against the idea of you going out on purge night, but once he realized that this was an internal thrill and want for you, he decided to go along with it. Whenever you heard of the purge happening in America, there was this thrill and excitement for one night a year for legal crime, you were wanting it to happen in Korea, and once you heard the news of Korea writing a bill and finalizing it, you wanted to purge. Now, it is a sick want, but some people need to release their anger and do shit that they would not do on a normal day when there are laws in place, but having that ability to do it with no repercussions, what could go wrong?
You were finally able to release the anger and hurt that a few people caused you and you wanted pay back. Could you just have Jin kidnapped and you could enjoy your sick pleasure by torturing them? Of course, but it is different when you can do everything start to finish.
“Babe, I think they’re dead…” you heard your boyfriend say in a monotone over the noise of your knife stabbing into the lady who embarrassed you when you were in sixth grade in front of the student body. She caused you anxiety and humiliation at a young age.
“Are you sure? Her body moved just a second ago.” You questioned cutely, already knowing she’s leaving the mortal realm. You’re just enjoying the thought of her never living again.
“Yes… she died five minutes ago, shortly after her husband.” Jin stated with a smirk on his face from watching you huff and fix your ponytail after giving the woman one last jab at her chest. Pushing off the wall, he walked over to you and cradled your face in his hands, loving how your cheeks crinkle your eyes because of how you have big cheeks that fit your face so well. “You do realize you spent about close to two hours of torturing and killing her that you have ten hours left? We must drive an hour to the next ‘victim’ of yours. And that depends if the roads are blocked off from Purgers.”
“With your driving, well make it there in twenty-five minutes. Plus, the boys already made sure that they’re not blocked.” You commented, grinning at Jin’s face turning red from realizing that you’re right.
“Okay, let’s get going, smart ass.” He ordered, slapping your ass before he grabs your hand and helping you step over the murder scene that just took place in the house.
Min Yoongi:
When the first purge happened in Korea, you and your boyfriend Min Yoongi obviously joined in on the fun. Now, on the second year, that is happening once again.
You were currently getting dressed into your purge outfit. You are wearing jean shorts with fishnets, combat boots, a crop top, a black leather jacket, your hair straightened, and face paint that is skeleton designed. Yes, you know that there is no reason to get dressed up for this night, but there’s no point in going out in sweats and a hoodie while you rob Walmart, the mall, and Hobby Lobby. You want to play the part.
You convinced your boyfriend to dress up with you this year since he did not last year, and it took lots of bribing and promising things, but you got what you wanted in the end like you always do.
“Babe, you ready? In about ten minutes the sirens will go off and along with announcement.” Your boyfriend told you as he walked into the bedroom, mouth dropping at your outfit, and just you in general. He’s now thinking about you guys staying in because he can feel himself getting excited at what he wanted to do with you – to you. “Maybe we should stay in tonight babe.”
Turning around, you glared at him. “Do you not realize that Hobby Lobby has cute house décor that we need for this place?”
“But I can just buy them for you baby,” your boyfriend pouted, along with making a fair point.
“But we can save that money with just stealing, legally! Plus, what’s the fun in that? We can take whatever we want without having to spend a single dime. And there’s build a bear at the mall, and I want all the stuff animals. We are not staying home just so you can rip my outfit apart. We can do that after the purge.” You countered back, determined to get free things, and possibly fighting someone who gets in your way.
It's been a stressful week with idiots at your job, and you’re looking for a reason to punch somebody.
Grumbling, your boyfriend threw his hands up in defeat, not wanting to challenge you while your mind is set. He’s learned when you threw a water bottle at him in the nono region when he tried to persuade you from not spending $50 on a large stuffed llama at Walmart because you already had plenty of stuffed animal llamas at home.
“Yes ma’am, can we at least break into the Oliva Garden on seventh street and take their breadsticks on the way home? I’ve been craving them lately.” He asked, putting his necklace on that you got him on your guy’s sixth month anniversary and his rings.
“I was about to ask the same thing,” you said, spraying your favorite perfume on. Right as you sat it down on your vanity, the sirens went off. Grabbing your gun that was specially made for you, you put in the gun holster that went with the outfit and your bag that had an emergency kit for just in case, along with one extra gun, you walked up and kissed your boyfriend.
“Ready baby?” he asked, taking your hand in his.
“Let’s roll! Hobby Lobby, here we come!”
Jung Hoseok:
It was a good idea at first, but now you’re questioning your train of thought from earlier, along with listening to your boyfriend. But sometimes men don’t know what they’re talking about. But then also is a long-time thief and is a mafia boss, so he does know what he’s talking about half of the time.
You just hate being wrong.
You thought that breaking into a bank that looked untouched from any other Purger’s was skeptical, but you decided to go ahead and do it anyways. But now, you realized that you should’ve listened to your conscious and boyfriend.
“This is your fault.” Your boyfriend commented, handcuffed to the wall.
“How is it my fault? You should’ve said something,” you snapped back, knowing that he did, but you won’t admit that he’s right.
“Stop being stubborn and just say, ‘babe, you were right, I’m a dumbass.’” He sassed, giving you a look that you hate. If only your hands weren’t handcuffed you would have smacked him, because it is the look of ‘you’re a dumbass,’ and know you were a dumbass, but you had a good idea that seemed like one to you, but it wasn’t.
You live and you learn.
“If you don’t wipe that look off of your face, I’ll do it for you after the boys get here and rescue us.”
“What are you going to do? Hit me?” He spoke in a childish tone, but you ignored and acted like you didn’t hear him.
Yes, you two are acting like children while being held at gun point, not caring that you are getting judgmental looks from your captors. What is even funnier, they don’t realize that they have the king and queen of the Korean mafia handcuffed to a pole. So, they are in a big surprise when the gang gets here.
“Will you two shut the fuck up? You sound like my kids right now.” A guy snapped, massaging his temples as if he has a headache.
“No, he called me a dumbass,” you argued back, “and I am not a dumbass.”
“You kind of are, babe.” Hoseok commented in a nonchalant tone. And after he said that gun fire began, a sign that his gang was here.
It was a quick process to say the least since the men who cuffed you both and had guns pointing at you for fifteen minutes were amateurs. After both of you getting uncuffed and you getting lectured by Jungkook and Taehyung on how you don’t know how to rob a place, you hit Hoseok in the arm.
“That’s for calling me dumbass,” you sneered, an angry look on your face.
“Noona, you kind of are…” the maknae’s said at the same time, quickly looking away once they felt your glare.
Kim Namjoon:
You don’t know what it is with your boyfriend, but he is like a child on Christmas morning when it comes to robbing places. He is in his own little world, piling up video games for the Maknae line for their Christmas presents, all of the sprite that he was able to get into the cart for Hoseok, all the colorful lights that Yoongi has talked about getting for his music room that he has at the house as his getaway area whenever he has the chance with his busy schedule of tracking people down, and then Jin kitchen décor for the kitchen at the base. You guys probably need to make a pit stop at HomeGoods for more of the decor because Walmart doesn’t have good selections, but it is the thought that matters.
“Babe! I found a book that I want to read!” Joon yelled out, reading the summary on the back of the book.
“What’s it called?” You asked, walking up to him and leaning your head against his arm, looking down at it.
“It’s called ‘The Cellar’ and it’s by this writer named Natasha Peterson. I’ve never heard of her, but this book sounds awesome.” He commented, placing it gently into the cart, “I’m getting it. I saw that it is a series, so we need to stop by Barnes and Nobel to get the rest of the series.” He mentally added that onto his list.
The peacefulness that was surrounding you both as you guys wondered around Walmart ended as soon as loud laughter sounded throughout the store and a gunshot. Namjoon instantly went into mafia mode, which is what you call it, and grabbed you and threw himself over you as he moved you both behind the shelf of towels and shielded you from any harm. His gun was pulled, and he was already texting the boys, who were also out and about on purge night, that there was a problem. You can’t trust anyone in general, but on Purge night, it’s a different ball game.
You could hear the group being rowdy, knocking everything over that was in their sight, making vulgar comments, and being disgusting in general. It sounded like they were getting closer, and that was making you nervous because of the fucking cart that was in the middle of the aisle.
“Joon, the cart.” You whispered, nervous as hell.
Namjoon muttered ‘fuck’ under his voice and was about to get up and grab the cart, when all the sudden WAP by Cardi B began blaring throughout the store.
Fucking Taehyung.
This obviously grabbed the groups attention because you heard them become alarmed, and slightly confused, on why WAP was blaring over the speakers. You heard someone yell, and then the sound of running on the other side of the aisle. You exhaled, relaxing when you heard the music turn off and Taehyung’s voice.
“I’m such a smart individual you guys.”
Park Jimin:
You and your boyfriend Jimin decided to stay in for the night. You both are not ones to partake in the new holiday because Jimin already deals with it daily. Whereas with you, you are not a fan of murder, despite being married to a mafia boss.
The house was on lock down, security cameras live on the second T.V. in the living room, the other T.V. playing your favorite show, the both of you cuddled up on the couch, and your favorite alcohol beverages next to both of you. It was peaceful, something that you both love when it comes to being with one another. It can be quiet, and no words spoken while you two are together and it isn’t boring or awkward, just peaceful.
That was until the camera for the backyard went black and Jimin got up quickly, and the look of anger and calculation was on his face. The peacefulness gone and the thought of murder was settling in the air.  Becoming nervous, you jumped up and stood right behind your boyfriend, hands holding to both of his arms, and you pushing yourself up against him, trying to become one with him.
“Baby, grab the gun that’s in the cushion that you were sitting on. You remember how to use it, right?” Your husband asked, checking to make sure you remember. It’s been a long time since you’ve had to use a gun because there was never a need too, until tonight.
“Yeah, I remember,” you answered while you grabbed it, hating the cold feeling to it.
“Good, stay next to me at all times, I’ll make sure nothing happens to you.” He replied, grabbing his gun from the side table, cocking it, and began to walk towards the kitchen where the bulletproof glass was that gave you both the ability to look outside. Peeking through it, your heart dropped at what you saw.
One of your security men hanging from the tree that was by your back porch. The churning of your stomach, heart pounding in your chest, and the want to wish you were dreaming was taking over your mind. And what was worse, the lights going out in the house. No power, no ability to see, and the fear of losing your husband became too much.
“Oh Jimin, I’m back. Let’s have some fun, shall we? There is only eleven hours left, and that gives us time to catch up. It’s been a long time, my friend.” A voice you never heard before sounded through the house, and it held everything but kindness.
Clutching Jimin’s arms, you felt tears brimming your eyes.
“Text the boys and tell them to hurry and tell them that Jacob isn’t dead. Tell them to come prepared,” he demanded quietly. “And if we don’t make it, just know we will meet again. I love you Y/N.” Jimin promised, bringing you in and holding you tightly.
Never in the ten years of knowing Jimin have you heard him sound scared before. But you did forget that there are still somethings you don’t know about him, and this is one of them.
Kim Taehyung:
There have always been snakes in every group, whether that being in gangs, friendships, relationships, or even in workplaces. There has been suspicion of a couple of snakes in the gang that your boyfriend runs, and you didn’t think that they would have the balls to do it on the night of the purge, of all days. You could do it on a Sunday, but they thought it would be best to do it on the night of a murder holiday.
You were sitting comfortably on the couch in your boyfriend’s office, watching Tik Tok and talking with your boyfriend as he does paperwork. Everything was peaceful until the moment that his six best friends ran into the office, closing the door and having pissed off looks on their faces.
“What the hell is going on?” Taehyung asked, standing up with a calculated look on his face.
“It’s Max and Jaiden. They’re the snitches and they’re gathering a few others to take us out tonight. Our security teams. The ones who are here now in this building.” Namjoon responds.
“Are you fucking serious? And are they stupid?” Taehyung questions, hands turning into fists as he thinks on what to do. It took a few moments for him to figure out on what he wants to do, before he looks up, “let’s go get rid of them all, but let’s save the two fuckers for last. We need to know what they all had done.”
The six men nod their heads before they left the room. Taehyung was the last to leave because he needed to gather a few things, along with kissing you goodbye. “Lock the door on my way out, you know it’s me when I do the three knocks.” He told you, helping you off the couch and led you to the door. As he walked out, you closed it and locked it, before making your way back to the couch to get comfortable.
Fifteen minutes later, the three knocks sounded. You realized it wasn’t a long process, but you brushed it off as you got to the door and opened it. Only to be greeted with Jaiden. Your heart fell to your stomach, and you quickly stood back.
“Hey, Y/N. Didn’t think I know the knock trick, huh?” He smirked, gun drawn and pointing at you.
“You know you have a death wish if you try something,” you pointed out, “you should really think about whatever you’re planning on doing.”
You didn’t even see him raise his hand until you felt it on your cheek. “Shut the fuck up. Do you not realize how fucking irritating it is to be bossed around and not be appreciated? For everything you do for this fucking gang, huh? You sacrifice your life daily for a guy who doesn’t even know how to fight. What kind of fucking leader is that, huh? And then see him take the girl you have loved for years and claim her as his own?” He questioned, stepping towards you.
You’re focusing on two things right now. The pain in your cheek and his reference towards you. He’s been in love with you? And he thinks that Taehyung has taken you from him? This guy is fucking delusional.
“Oh, so this is what it’s about? You could’ve done this tomorrow, or yesterday, or even last month. But, on purge night? That is hilarious.” You heard your boyfriend, relief flooding through your body. A groan of pain and the sound of electricity sounded through the air, and you know it was the taser that Jungkook bought for shits and giggles. Looking up, hand on your cheek from the hit, you said Jaiden on the ground, Taehyung standing above him. “You’re going to wish that you never once laid a hand on MY girl and for going behind my back to Ateez and giving them information.” Taehyung growled out, looking at you with a look that shook you to your bones.
Jeon Jungkook:
Occasionally, your boyfriends alter appears. Sometimes, it scares you because of how violent he can get, along with barely interacting with him. JK, for the first time in over a year, that you know of because that was the last time you had interacted with him for a few minutes, is out tonight.
You don’t know how to approach him, you don’t know how to do anything because of how you barely know him. You know that he is your boyfriend, and you do love him, but he scares you. You know that he wouldn’t do anything to you at all – he even told you that himself last year, but you know that you do not want to see him in action.
The gang had to leave the base because of Purgers who hate the gang, despite them never hurting an innocent citizen and only trying to protect them, raided the base and only a few got out. So now, you guys are now in the city, trying to get to across town on foot to the safety house that’s in the country. Everyone’s running, JK and his six brothers who are prepared for anything, and several other men who are a part of the gang are keeping the extra eye out for any danger.
You’re not an athletic person, running is not in your vocabulary, and so you are getting winded quickly. You thought you would be an athletic person when it comes to possibly dying, having all the adrenaline in you, but there isn’t any and so you’re slowly falling behind. Not being able to speak up because of having no breath in you since it’s long gone from the running you’ve done, you stop for a second and put your hands on your knees, trying to catch your breath and stretch for a few seconds.
Of course, you’re that person that stopped and now you’re getting yanked from the back. Screaming, which catches everyone’s attention, you began to kick the person who has a hold of you.
“Y/N!” Your boyfriend screamed, running towards you, only stop when other people came out of their hiding places and having guns drawn and ready to shoot. The look on your boyfriend’s face sent fear down your spine because it’s a look of pure bloodlust, the want to kill and torture the man who has you. “Let her fucking go, now.” He demanded, voice thick and deep.
“And why’s that? You don’t want to share this piece of meat with anyone else? Listen, pal, I can do whatever I want tonight and that is her.” The guy cockily said, the feeling of his hand sneaking down you, causing you to squirm and move his hand away. “Good luck on trying to stop me, but I have more men than you. There’s no way you’re going to—” He stopped in his sentence from your elbow jabbing into his stomach and then your foot making contact his dick. You learn thing or two from dating your boyfriend. “You fucking bitch!”
A warzone happened, and you somehow dodged his fist as it flew at you, but you ran towards your boyfriend, jumping into his arms, only to meet the ground with your back and he threw himself on top of you to protect you from any danger. The guns stop firing, and you heard the guy who grabbed you groaning. Hoseok managed to shoot him in the leg, but everyone else in his group are now dead, along with a wounded Jimin and Seokjin, and a dead member who meant everything to everyone.
“Nice job, baby,” JK praised, standing you both up, only to pull you against him, both your chests pressed together and his hands gripping your waist. This caused a blush to ran come across your cheeks and your chest, the look in his eyes hooded, but you know it is still JK, and this got you even more excited and nervous.
“Well, Jungkook taught me a thing or two… and so, I just acted.” You stuttered, trying to keep eye contact, but it being difficult from how intense JK is staring at you.
“Well, I can teach you a thing or two later. But now baby, I have to do something that I don’t want you to watch, or if you want to, I can teach you a few other things. But I don’t want to scare you away. So, now be a good girl and look the other way, you won’t like what you’ll see.” He ordered, eyes now deadly and not the ones that made an appearance for a few moments that comforted you.

𝕵𝖎𝖓 ❗
• He was away on an emergency mission.
• He initially had taken you hostage because you were the enemy mafia leader's daughter.
• He would normally kill his hostages if the demands were not fulfilled.
• That would've been your fate as well.
• But he saw a hint of madness in your eyes while your hands were tied at your back in the chair.
• He was amused with the show you were putting on.
• When he lowered his head to look at you at eye-to-eye level, you spat on him out of spite.
• He chuckled while wiping the spit off his face with a handkerchief.
• He grabbed your hair and made you look up.
• While he scanned your face in rage, you looked at him fiercely.
• He smirked and released your hair.
• For a moment he felt enchanted by you, something strange stirred inside him.
• "Give her nice clothes and send her to my room tonight before I come back." He ordered his men.
• Right now it was dark and you were running away in your bare feet when you got the chance to secretly escape.
• When you took a turn inside the jungle, your eyes went wide at the people standing in front of you with Jin in the center with his arms folded.
• "Dear oh dear! You really ran fast like a deer." He said mockingly with a cocked eyebrow.
• You gulped and turned to another side but there were already men present.
• You were totally surrounded.
• But you were not willing to give up just yet until-
• "Please go to him my daughter!" You heard your father's crying voice.
• You turned back to look at Jin where your father was dragged out by his men from his behind.
• Your eyes stung with tears, you hoped so eagerly to see your father, to see him come to your rescue.
• You even went lengths to escape just to unite with him.
• But now your father told you to stay with them! Your father, among everyone else??
• Your felt a lump in your throat and suddenly you remembered the words Jin had whispered in your ears, "No one cares for you baby, not even your father. The only person who'd care for you is me darling."
𝖄𝖔𝖔𝖓𝖌𝖎 ❗
• You were working under the black X mafia gang as their armorer.
• Recently Yoongi has been keeping you close to him than other weapon handlers- way too close actually.
• So close that when your gang would return after completing the tasks, he would reward you by being intimate with you.
• Did you like it? Yeah he was good at it but still, you didn’t like him touching you that way or him being possessive.
• Because he was damn possessive, he wouldn't even allow you to leave his room without his consent.
• You were a smart person so you knew that asking for your resignation from him wouldn't end good judging by his obsession with you.
• No! You've had enough of his shenanigans.
• You needed to escape.
• And so you packed your bag with enough weapons and jumped from the wall behind the building.
• Shit! The men noticed you. You ran with all your might but fucking hell they were really fast.
• You thought of using the gun you had in your pocket.
• But just then they started to fire giving you no time to turn and shoot.
• Fuck! A bullet pierced through your left leg making you scream.
• You started limp-running in pain.
• Suddenly you heard a gun shot, it definitely killed a person but neither were you the receiver nor were you the shooter. The firing had stopped.
• A voice boom throughout the open area, "FUCKING DROP YOUR GUNS ASSHOLES!"
• You knew that voice very well. It was him.
• You tried to increase your pace as you felt someone was getting closer to you.
• A hand grabbed your arm and you flinched in fright.
• "Baby were you really running away? Tell me you weren't, right?" He said in worried a tone and hugged you.
• In his hug he felt something cold touch his chest.
• It was a gun.
• You had a gun placed on his chest.
He broke the hug and looked at the gun then at you.
• "Yoongi let me go or I will shoot you." You said as your eyes reddened.
• He chuckled as he tilted his head. "My little bird has grown up so much." He kissed you on the forehead and you thrusted the gun deeper in his chest.
• He said, "No need to put up a bold front baby, I know you love me too otherwise I would've been dead by now with the gun in your hand."
• You wanted to scoff in his face.
• But before you could press the trigger, he carotid slapped in your neck making you lose your conscience in an instant.
• You fell in his arms and he carried you up like a bride.
• He whispered, "Too bad I can't punish you tonight because of your leg baby, that bastard died for good."
𝕳𝖔𝖘𝖊𝖔𝖐❗
• At first you and him only shared the relationship of a sugar daddy and a sugar baby.
• It was good, he was getting relieved from stress by your acquaintance while you were getting relived by paying your bills from his money.
• This went for quite a time until you saw his true identity as a mafia.
• Ever since you saw him shoot guns and saw his men getting shot by others outside the hotel you both would make out in, that scene had traumatized you.
• Were you associating yourself with a criminal? No no no that can't happen.
• You were just a college student trying to survive every day somehow.
• You never imagined you would be making out with someone who kills people.
• What if he kills you too someday if he was done using you?
• You shook your head at the thought.. no, you needed to cut ties with him asap.
• And so you did, you changed your number and even moved to another place. Moving would have taken a toll on you but thanks to Hoseok's money, you didn't find moving a pain in the ass this time.
• You remember telling him about your address and nothing else because when he asked more about you, you had refused saying he should share his information as well.
• It was a give and take of information. But he never gave by saying, "I'll tell you when the time comes, I will even take you there someday."
• You were thankful to your past self for not egging him more for knowing much about him because you would have needed to change your university too if he knew.
• But to your horror when you exited your university to go to your car parked in the underground parking lot, he was standing in front of your car, the car you had bought from his money.
• Your face grew pale.
• He tsked, "Baby I gave a better car as your birthday gift, why are you driving this?" He looked at the car with a sour expression.
• Yeah the car he had gifted you was much more expensive and flashy but you couldn't be stupid enough to drive it around.
• What if he had installed GPS in that? You could have been easily tracked down.
• You clutched the straps of your bag tightly. "I have nothing to do with you. Please leave." You said with all of your will power.
• He chuckled, "I didn't come here to leave babygirl, though we are leaving together. Remember the day I had told you that when time comes I'll take you to my place? Today's the right day for it. Boys!" He grinned as he gestured something with his fingers while he put on a mask.
• And before you could run away, a smoke gas erupted and surrounded you, making you drop to ground unconscious in an instant.
𝕹𝖆𝖒𝖏𝖔𝖔𝖓❗
• You were the top spy in your gang which earned you nice facilities like no one else had.
• Better pay, better stay, better everything. Even better sex, with your gang's leader on top of that.
• You would too engage yourself with Namjoon the best way you could.
• Ugh! He loved you so much, he would do anything for you.
• Whenever you both used to look in each other's eyes during close proximity in the bed, you could see affection overflowing in his eyes while you don't know what sees in yours.
• Because you had no love for him. The only thing you felt was guilt.
• Just like you were feeling it right now as you were leaving from the back of his room by sliding down a rope.
• You were leaving to sell your gang's inside information to your rival gang.
• Actually you have done this several times before but today you were leaving for good.
• When you climbed down successfully and turned to head out, you saw Namjoon standing there casually as if he was waiting for you to show up.
• You started breathing faster out of nervousness as he approached you.
• You blinked and looked at your left to run.
• But Namjoon quickly came and blocked your way with his arms as he trapped you between the wall behind and him at your front.
• "Y/N I can't believe you were going to betray after all that I've done for you." He said with a pathetic expression.
• You gulped, how did he get to know this? You made sure to never let him get the slightest bit of hint.
• Then he leaned closer and spoke, "Y/N, you know right what we do with the bad guys?" He said turning towards your ear and his mint breath tickled the skin of your neck.
• Your lips quivered, "w-we beat the-them to death." With every word you spoke, you felt like your soul was about to abandon your body.
• He smirked and then removed his face and looked at you, his lips mere centimeters away from yours.
• "And what do we do with the traitors?" He asked you, emphasizing on each and every word.
• With his face so close and his aura so threatening, you felt like you were going to black out any second. "We-we maul them t-to death." You spoke with much difficulty.
• He hummed in agreement and then attached his lips with your lips, within the next moment he was devouring your mouth like an animal as if he was hungry for your kiss since ages.
• He grabbed your ass and pulled you up the wall and started lapping at your cunt.
• He said, "But baby you are special to me, I will spare you this time if you obey your master and promise you will never leave again."
• "I-i promise." You bit your tongue to not let out a loud scream as he bit your pussy.
• He smirked, "Good girl."
• Oh well, he knew you were betraying him all the way long, so he kept feeding you with information which was actually not true. He would share you his false plans while he slept next to you, knowing that you were going to tell all of that bullshit to the rival gang.
• When you were busy having pleasure with him, he was busy inserting micro audio devices in your intimate parts, so whenever you had the conversation with the rivals, he could crystal clearly hear you and their plans.
• Thus technically the one you were betraying was not him but them. But today he couldn't let you go since you would be leaving him forever. He would never let that happen.
• Never.

Namjoon watched the clock tick by as Jungkook slept on his chest. Something about you… didn’t feel right. He couldn’t explain it, and he was pretty sure he wasn’t jealous. Although, he would have reason to be. You were beautiful and your figure only added to it. Not to mention the way you looked straddling Jungkook was objectively erotic looking– but that wasn’t the point. The point was how nonchalant you were about the whole thing. From giving his boyfriend stitches to fighting him off to reacting that way when he grabbed you, Namjoon knew there was something more there.
The seven of them had built Bangtan from the ground up, and especially as anniversary day was coming up, it unnerved him to encounter someone he couldn’t get a read on. He would need to have Yoongi look into what he could find about you. The seven of them were all leaders, but Namjoon controlled the above-ground operations while Yoongi managed the underground ones, and something told Namjoon he’d need to look there for anything about you.
First, he just had to get your full name from the younger man drooling on his chest. He sighed as he brushed a hand through Jungkook’s hair, wanting to be angry with him for getting drunk and getting into a fight, but he just couldn’t. After the last few years Jungkook had, he deserved to let loose, what worried him was that he was doing him more often than usual. Jungkook usually only acted out this much when he was holding something in. It didn’t help that the leader had been halfway across the world for the past month. Namjoon was never one to pry or be too good with feelings out of all of them, but he had a nagging feeling it had to do with you.
Eventually, sleep found the older man and he was awoken by the smell of food wafting into the bedroom. His eyes finally cracked open when he felt a kiss being planted on his cheek, “Wakey, wakey.” Hoseok sang, and chuckled at the look of confusion Namjoon gave him, “Jungkook called us all over for breakfast since it’s been a while since we’ve all been in the same city.”
Namjoon was finally fully awake and could hear Jungkook singing along to some show tune with Jin in the kitchen and scoffed, “He’s awfully spry for someone who should be nursing one hell of a hangover.” He mumbled and Hoseok snorted.
“Yeah, I’m sure Yoongi is going to want a full report on last night.” The older man shook his head, knowing it would only stress out the aforementioned man, “Brightside is he should calm down when Jimin and Taehyung tell him the news.” The younger man raised a brow in question but Hoseok shook his head, “I’m not the type to spoil a surprise.” He chuckled before pressing a soft kiss to the man’s furrowed brow, “You’ll know soon enough, let’s go.”
Hand in hand, the two take their seats as Jin and Jungkook place plates in front of the five sitting men, “I see someone is trying to make up for getting trashed last night.” Taehyung sang.
“Or I just miss having all my boyfriends in the same room.” Jungkook huffed as he took his seat next to Yoongi who gave him a glare, “Oh, come on. You cannot seriously be mad at me?” He flashed his doe eyes to the man and fluttered his lashes.
Jimin clicked his tongue, “That’s not seriously going to work, is it?” He whined, “Yoongi never lets me get away with shit from just looking at him.”
“You get away with plenty.” Jin quipped at the fighter.
Yoongi ignored the commotion as his hands brushed Jungkook’s hair out of the way to look at the stitches, “Who did those, baby?” His voice was soft but with the way the youngest man shrunk, he knew he wouldn’t like the answer.
“Well, I guess I’ll just go ahead and give the report of last night’s events.” Namjoon huffed through a bite of bacon, “You want to start, Kook?” He raised a brow.
The man sighed and nodded, “Well, I finished all my work early, like usual.” He began smugly. Jungkook in general was a skilled person, so he didn’t have just one job, but most often he was digging up dirt on people via his computer skills, “Then, I had my regular neighbor dinner.” He smiled at the thought, and Jin noticed Jimin and Taehyung scowling a bit at this. The two were the most jealous of this elusive neighbor, which was odd since even on the seldom occasions the others sought the company of someone else, it never affected any of them. Nowadays, they don’t really go outside of the relationship, but it’s still interesting to see them so jealous, but they kept silent as Jungkook continued, “We watched Jimin win, so then I decided to go out and… celebrate.” His smile turned guilty.
“This close to the anniversary, Kook?” Jin sighed and Yoongi kept deathly quiet.
“I’ll assume that’s where your memory stops?” Hoseok asked and Jungkook nodded sheepishly.
“Well, I then got a call from one of our guys at around three in the morning that some rookie was running his mouth and pissed Kook off.” Namjoon sighed, “Jungkook won the fight even sloshed out of his mind if that’s any consolation.”
“Nice.” Jimin grunts and Taehyung snickers at the glare Yoongi shoots him.
“Then, I drag him all the way here and he collapses at his neighbor’s door, insisting she’ll fix him up.” The CEO continues the story and notes how Hoseok shifts at the mention of this, “What was even weirder is that she did, like it was super normal.”
“It’s not that normal.” Jungkook argued weakly.
“She said it wasn’t uncommon.” Namjoon snapped and Yoong put his head in his hands, “I will also say it was really eerie the way she could just handle how Jungkook gets when she woke up.”
“She’s a nurse, you guys know that.” The man tried to defend.
“A high school nurse.” Taehyhung corrected, causing the hacker to pout, “I doubt she has to restrain her patients regularly.”
“Did I hurt her when I woke up?” Jungkook asked and this made Namjoon falter.
“That doesn’t matter right now.” The CEO offers, “What I was getting at is I think Yoongi and Jungkook should do a deeper background check than the initial one we did-”
“No.” Jungkook spat, partly shocking Namjoon at the venom in his voice. The youngest’s face was twisted in distaste at the idea, “You all promised-”
“That was before I saw the way-”
“No!” He shouted, shocking everyone at the table as his eyes began to glisten, “I’ve known her for years now, and she’s never been pushy about what’s going on in my life or why I have six boyfriends she’s never even met and in return, I don’t ask her questions.” Namjoon’s jaw clenched at this. Most of the time if an arrangement was too good to be true, it’s because it was. If he didn’t care so much about Jungkook’s love and trust he wouldn’t have even bothered to bring it up. At times like these, being in love was more frustrating than ever as he listened to Jungkook, “She trusts me and I trust her that way, I don’t want to ruin the only friendship I have outside of us.” His voice cracks at the end, making everyone soften a bit. Jungkook was right. It’s been just them for a long time, and you were the only friend he really had. You weren’t a drinking mate or gambling buddy, you were a friend. And yet, he felt like Namjoon was trying to take that away from him.
“Kook, have you considered she might not ask questions because she’s hiding something herself?” Taehyung gently asked, but it didn’t simmer the hacker’s anger.
“I don’t care if she’s hiding anything.” He snapped, making Jin sigh, “I’m hiding plenty and none of that has stopped us from being close so please, just leave it alone.” He pleaded, but Yoongi’s expression was unreadable, “Hoseok did those couple random shadows of her a few years ago and he saw nothing of concern.” He reminded them, and truthfully, how could any of them have forgotten? The act itself caused one of their worst arguments to date. Originally, Taehyung insisted on Jungkook digging up every piece of information he could about her and giving it to them, which made the youngest even more closed off about his friend. Finally, after days of disagreeing, Hoseok was the only one entrusted with your full name, not that it would’ve been all that hard to find.
The man in question nodded, “It was quite boring actually, but it’s true. Even the phone calls she took were a snoozefest.” He sighed just remembering them, “I’d never seen such a killjoy of a college student before, and I’m sure she’s the same as a nurse.” Granted, Hoseok’s specialty was not in surveillance, but Taehyung and Jungkook were too biased in opposite ways to do the shadowing, and the chemist was the only one with the extra time to do it.
Jungkook nodded, “She really does just go to work and home.” He mumbled ruefully, “Plus, even if she’s someone else or whatever, at the end of the day, she saves me a hospital trip and hasn’t said anything to anyone, evidently.” He added and Namjoon looked to Yoongi who sighed in defeat but nodded.
“Fine, we’ll drop it.” Yoongi finally spoke and Namjoon bristled, “She hasn’t caused any trouble, sounds like a good friend, and is smart enough not to ask any questions. There’s no reason not to trust Jungkook’s judgment.” He explained to the more skeptical men, Namjoon, Taehyung, and Jimin, who simply nodded in defeat before turning to the youngest, “Just, be more careful, okay?” He looked to the younger man who nodded before giving him a chaste kiss on the lips, “It was pretty risky bringing Namjoon there, even if accidentally. If she does know anything, she could’ve recognized him as the head of Bangtan Corp and unraveled quite a bit.” He said and Jungkook nodded. Even though he doubted you even knew an underground existed, let alone that Bangtan was running it, he understood Yoongi being weary, “Let’s enjoy our breakfast together, yeah?”
They all nodded before falling into their regular lull. No matter how much time they spent apart for work, it was easy for them to get together like no time had passed. The seven of them had been dating for a couple of years now, and though the relationship was loving, it was by no means perfect, that much was obvious. The organization had risen to its height because of their ability to work through those hardships together, but with the rise of their syndicate came less time for one another. This paired with secrets and disagreements that were littered throughout the relationship made for a good chunk of tension when work was exceptionally stressful, like during the anniversary. This was why the relationship was open, but Jungkook was the only one with a consistent connection outside of them, which was most likely why it ruffled some of their feathers.
“Now, I’m told Taehyung and Jimin have some good news?” Namjoon brings up and the two men in question grin at each other, and he can tell they’re silently deciding who should be the one to say it.
“We found a certain little weasel last night.” Taehyung sang.
“Found and captured.” Jimin added, and the two didn’t need to elaborate for the other men to know what they meant.
Yoongi smirked, sadism written along his features as he caught Namjoon’s eyes, “We’ve got an exciting day ahead of us.”
Your eyes cracked open slowly as you hissed when sunlight invaded your pupils. You squinted, not sure how you forgot to fully close the blinds, especially during the anniversary week, but you let it go. Work had been especially a nightmare with the beginning of a new term, and the blinds were just barely cracked, not enough for anyone to peak in much but certainly enough for the sun to wreak havoc on you. You stretched your arms forward, taking in a deep breath before craning your neck to look at the time, 10:24 am, nice. You actually managed to get a good amount of sleep even with the chaos at your door last night.
Your sleepy eyes landed on the shallow cut on your forearm beneath the wrapping you put on it. It looked a lot like a cat scratch, which you were thankful for. The last thing you needed was any nosy colleagues or students asking too many questions. Telling people you got the wound from having to tackle your only friend was less than ideal. You snorted to yourself. Truly, you should have more questions or concerns with Jungkook, but you just didn’t have it in you anymore. You spend the entire first two years of your friendship insanely weary, and you already spend your time like that with everyone else. It was nice to have someone you didn’t need to constantly be on guard from. Your fingertips ran over the bandage, hoping that you had made the right choice, but even then, it was far too late to change anything now.
You liked Jungkook more than you cared to admit, even to yourself, so when you heard his telltale knocking on your door in the middle of your morning cable surfing, you didn’t even bother to turn off the TV before going to the door. You rolled your neck before opening the door with a bored expression when Jungkook’s wide eyes met yours, “Morning, sport.” You drawled, leaning against your door frame.
Crossing your arms over your chest, Jungkook took notice of the bandage on your forearm, “Did I do that?” He asked worriedly.
You shrugged, looking away from him, “If you think about it, the needle is technically the culprit–”
“Y/n, I’m serious.” He pleaded, making you straighten up, but your gaze stayed fixed elsewhere, “Look at me, please.” He spoke, and you cursed yourself for obeying. You were accustomed to following orders, and something about the way Jungkook bothered to say please made it that much easier to listen to him, but you could only hope he didn’t realize this. “Did I hurt you?” His gaze burned you, and it made you hate his need for eye contact at times like these.
You sighed, examining the guilt on his face. The look made you feel like an asshole even though you didn’t do anything wrong. You didn’t like this part of your friendship. The serious, gravelly talks about what he did last night or about whatever breakdown of yours he happened to witness. The care in his eyes was suffocating, but addicting all the same. It made you feel self-conscious about your lack of clothing, but you were sure not even a parka wouldn’t make you feel any less vulnerable. The honesty in his eyes curled around you like smoke that you had no choice but to inhale and exhale right back to him. Flat-out lying to Jungkook has seldom been an option, especially about things like this, “Fine, when you woke up you were panicked and somehow made my hand slip and caused the needle I was working with to give me a little scratch.” You explained, eyes begging to avoid his again.
“That’s a big bandage for a little scratch.” He observed skeptically and you slipped your arms behind your back. He sighed, “I’m sorr–”
You shook your head. Much like actual birthday gifts, apologies had been foreign to you before Jungkook, and you didn’t like to nor know how to accept them, “I promise, it’s no deeper than a paper cut.” You looked up at him through your lashes, his expression now unreadable, which was somehow worse than the guilt.
He raised a brow, utterly unconvinced, “Let me see.” He wasn’t asking or pleading this time, but you didn’t have it in you to go against him.
You rolled your eyes, “Only because it’s about time to take it off anyway.” You huffed, only partially lying. It was time to let the wound air out a bit, but you both knew it wasn’t the only reason. You had spent most of your life taking in and thriving on the fear, guilt, and despair of others people. You loved the taste of the power you wielded, but nothing was more sour on your tongue than Jungkook’s dim mood. You turned around, peeling off the medical tape and walking to your counter as you heard your door close. Throwing the dressing in the trash, you looked at the wound with a nod before spinning to face the man approaching you, “See? It’s nothing.” You presented the thin line of scabs to him. He studied it, face still unreadable that was, until you flinched when his hand darted out to hold your wrist. The horror in his eyes made you feel physically ill as he went to withdraw, but you panicked and moved to hold his hand there, “Come on, you know it’s not because of you.” You reasoned, voice barely above a whisper.
His jaw clenched, but he nodded solemnly. The question of who it was burned his tongue as he pressed his mouth closed. He’d seen more than enough of your episodes to know that you had plenty of reasons to flinch and he had to swallow the urge to find every single reason and end them with his bare hands. Horrible things happened to you, and he wasn’t sure if not knowing was worse than what would become of him if he ever found out. He diverted his gaze back to the scratch, and you wanted to ask him what he was doing until he leaned down. Your breathing ceased as you watched his lips brush lightly over the wound in the form of the softest kiss he’d ever given you, “There, all better.” His joking tone was strained with his smile when he stood straight again, but you appreciated the effort.
His chest felt a bit lighter when you smiled softly, “What a hero.” You deadpanned.
The reality was that Jungkook wanted to rip the door off its hinges, he was so pissed off at himself. Plus with that door gone, there’d be just a bit less between the two of you, and he needed to ignore why that sounded so sickeningly sweet. Regardless, he knew you hated moments like these, moments where the air was still but heavy with a million unspoken words between you two, so he felt compelled to throw out a light comment since he couldn’t outright comfort you that often, “I’ll be more careful, I promise. I’ve just been so…”
You nodded sympathetically, “Yeah, this week is pretty rough for me too.” You sighed, staring at the way his thumb absent-mindedly rubbed along your skin. The affection created a pit in your stomach that you couldn’t explain, but you promised yourself it was just how friends felt for each other sometimes.
“Hey, I think you’ve been doing pretty good lately.” He chided softly, and a mix of embarrassment and pride filled you at his words, “I haven’t slept with you in weeks now.” He pointed out, and the fake pout on his lips made you chuckle, mind still partially lost in the way his thumb stroked your arm.
You knew he was just trying to lighten the reminder of how your screams would wake him up some nights. On those nights, Jungkook would all but break down your door in an effort to sleep next to you. It was weird for you, even still, sleeping next to someone. It brought out feelings in you that you didn’t want to deal with, so you did your best to make Jungkook’s presence in your bedroom as rare as possible, “Miss me?” You asked sarcastically, still so lost in his ministrations. Affection is something you’d only ever gotten from the man in front of you, so it was hard to tell if it would feel this nice from anyone else.
“All the time.” He responded quickly and with so much sincerity it made your chest seize for a moment. Jungkook cleared his throat, breaking his eye contact with you for just a moment, “I hope Namjoon wasn’t a dick to you.” He spoke, snapping you out of your trance with his touch as you retracted your arm, almost deluding yourself into thinking he tried to hold onto you for a split second.
“He was just being protective of his baby.” You snickered at how Jungkook bristled with the term, “A protective dick, but I get it. I’m a total stranger–”
“Hey, you’re my best friend.” He chided, with a smile that was a bit less strained than before.
You scoffed, “I’m your only friend.”
He shrugged with a more amused grin, “I said what I said.”
You rolled your eyes, “Anyway did you only come to–” You were cut off by your phone buzzing on the table.
Both you and Jungkook knitted your brows at this. It was degradingly rare for anyone other than him or work to call you, “You cheating on me?” He playfully asked and you pushed him by the shoulder before going to answer the call.
You picked up the device cautiously, “It’s a random number.” You said lightly, but something felt wrong. “Don’t tell me I’m about to get a ton of prank calls because I pissed one of your boyfriends off?” You tried to joke as the phone finally went to voicemail.
Jungkook snorted at this, “Yeah, Joonie’s not the prank call type.”
“No way? He seemed like a real court jester.” You sarcastically said, making your friend laugh more.
“A+ on the tone, B+ for the reference.” He chuckled, and you beamed at this. Jungkook spent the first two years of your friendship helping you grasp the ins and outs of day-to-day interactions, so it was nice to see how far you’ve come. “I haven’t heard the term ‘court jester’ so casually, like, ever, but it gets points for creativity.”
“You know me, I’m a real artist- ugh, again?” You looked down at your phone as it buzzed again with the same number.
“Just answer, maybe it’s important.” He reasoned, and you nodded but the idea made you feel sick, “Oh, but put it on speaker I wanna hear if it is a prank call.” He grinned
Pushing the feeling of unease down, you rolled your eyes and answered, putting it on speaker, “Hello–”
“Y/n! Y-You gotta get me out of here, I’m–” Ice water flooded your veins as the man’s voice invaded your senses. Your eyes bulged once you fully realized Jungkook was standing right there, hearing this god-forsaken voice and you gasped before taking it off speaker.
“Who is this?” You seethed, lying to everyone in the room. You’d know that whiny voice anywhere. Goosebumps sprouted along your arms and your stomach churned as your uncle's shaky breathing entered your mind, “How did you get my number?” You demanded quietly as you turned from Jungkook and put some distance between you both.
“Y/n, they found me and I’m–” He coughed and your eye twitched, pathetic.
“Lose my number.” You ordered, moving to hang up.
“I’ll tell them!” He shouted, making you pause. You didn’t even know who “they” were, but you certainly didn’t care to find out, “I’ll tell them who you are, where you are–”
“You don’t know that.” You called his bluff, but fear soaked into your rage, dampening its strengthening effects on your body. You could feel yourself getting smaller with each millisecond of silence that followed.
“I have your number.” He challenged, and you scoffed. That was undoubtedly all he had. Jungyoon had never been built for the mind games, he was the muscle and nothing else, through and through.
“Won’t be mine for much longer, I promise.” You fumed quietly, and the whimper that leaked from him told you that was all the leverage he had, or at least you hoped so, “I’m not the one who was on national fucking TV just so I could watch a stupid fight, so you dug your grave. Don’t pass me the shovel.”
“Wh-How can you even say that I’m–” He tried desperately.
“You must have the wrong number if you’re planning on finishing that sentence.” You forced out before hanging up. You let out a shaky breath before throwing your phone on the couch.
Byungjoo was caught. If he was caught that meant you weren’t safe anymore. Were you ever really safe? Why did you stay in the country? What were you thinking? Did you seriously think Byungyeol would come back from you? Did you seriously stay in the same place he lost you like a child? And now what? You were dead, utterly dead–
No. You were safe. You had to be. You never went anywhere, and your face was never known by the public or that many people in the organization. You were smart, you had–
“Y/n, hey, hey.” Jungkook’s voice cut through the radio static that heightened the panic in your head.
You looked at him, eyes wild but in a state he’s seen before, “I-It…” The words died in your throat as panic held you in a vice grip. Your nails dug into your palm, and the pain did nothing to satiate you as your knees buckled. Jungkook caught you before you could hit the ground, and you almost wished he hadn’t. You’d give anything to feel the pain radiating up your leg, the linoleum against your palms, anything to remind you that you were in your home and not wherever the hell the people who took Byungjoo planned to take you. You steadied yourself, the haze of panic subsiding momentarily, “I’m okay.” You lied, placing your hand on the couch so you could stand on your own.
“Who the hell was that and why–” You cut Jungkook off with a look, a look you’ve both used on each other, a look that begged him not to pry so you don’t have to lie to him, “I just… I’m worried.”
“Don’t be worried.” It came off as more of a plea than reassurance, and you cringed.
Jungkook wet his dry lips as he looked you over. You were talking, but you still had that look in your eyes that promised you wouldn’t be able to for much longer. His chest ached as he watched you try to crush the panic down and put on a brave face for him. More than anything, he wanted to cup your cheeks and promise you it was okay, and if it wasn’t, it will be. He wanted to fix it so badly, do anything to ensure that you weren’t about to break, so against his better judgment, he spoke, “I heard you say something about seeing him on TV, was it that guy from work–”
“Yes.” You said too quickly, and he tensed, “He’s… uh, just unhinged, and it just unsteadied me a bit.” You nodded, the fib burning your tongue, “I guess the principal saw him last night and he got in trouble…” You sighed, it was exhausting to do this, and you didn’t want to have to do this at all, “I don’t know it just…” You simply couldn’t do it. You couldn’t force any more lies out, you didn’t have it in you to do much other than clasp your hands over your ears and squeeze your eyes shut.
Everything you’d built for yourself flashed in the blink of an eye. It wasn’t much, but it was yours. In an instant, it could be taken away, and there’s nothing you could really do about it. You weren’t nearly as lethal as you used to be, and judging by the little you’ve heard about the heads of Bangtan, you’re training would pale in comparison to their abilities. It took them no more than a year to dethrone your father, and you had no doubt it would take them no more than a second to end your life. Now, it was no longer a matter of if, but when they were going to catch up to you.
Disgust infiltrated your sorrow as you watched Byunjoo smile lovingly while his wife, Minji, explained how your deaths would go with a little too much “pep in her step” as she would say to you when you were reporting the gruesome details of a job. She was disgusted with you for several reasons, but she was perfectly fine with your father, so it didn’t make sense when he directed just about everything you did. Nevertheless, you sat straight-faced as you heard the plan. Although you weren’t sure what she or your uncle was so proud of, the plan was quite simple.
You were to burn it all. You were to watch the house you grew up in, the house where you took your first steps, said your first words, and had your first kill, crumble to smithereens with the empire you were supposed to inherit. Something, though, was missing. The list of names of the people who would live to watch the ash and smoke was noticeably… short.
“...Now we will have to get rid of everyone who knows your face, y/n-” Minji explained, that sickening smile on her hot pink lips but the disgust she held for you never left her eyes. You weren’t sure what you did to make her hate you so much, but you hardly cared now that you hated her just as fiercely.
“No.” You immediately spoke, and you could see your father stiffen in the corner of your eye, but you only broke your stare with your aunt when you heard Byungjoo sigh.
He and Minji were the only two that didn’t completely crumble under your unwavering stare, and it was times like these that it irritated you. Byungjoo was the right-hand man to your father, and he was a ruthless man. He loved nothing but money and his treacherous wife, even hated everything but money and his equally soulless wife. One exception, however, was your father, and he only claimed to love you because your father did.
“Y/n, it's for your safety.” Byungjoo explained as if you were a child, as if he spoke to you with any kind of decorum when you were a child, as if you were so easy to pacify when it came to the slaughter of the staff in this house that raised you.
“If you do it, I will throw myself into the fire,” You seethed and Byungjoo chuckled, assuming it was a joke. He always did that. Took your defiance of him as a silly comment or you being a rebellious teen, regardless of the fact that you were about to be 19 and never respected him enough to consider your disagreements rebellions, “I swear on the blood of my father, I will die with those people,” Byungjoo ceased his giggles immediately.
Your father, however, took your death threats seriously off the bat. Byungyeol was not stupid enough to take the little words you spoke as anything other than what you meant. He was the one who taught you not to waste your breath, after all. Truthfully, you weren’t sure if your death would make a difference, but there was that glint in your father’s eyes still that told you he just might care. His dying pride remained intact barely and you, his only child, were his only legacy, a legacy that needed to live on.
Byungjoo may have been a bumbling idiot, but he could see the resolve in his brother's eyes. Minji had no such tact as she clicked her tongue in distaste, “Y/n-”
“Let it go.” Your father’s voice sounded, startling the couple silent while maintaining sharp eye contact with you, waiting for your gaze to waver even slightly. When you remained headstrong he sighed, “Make the list of who lives, y/n, and they will.” He spoke with a finality you’ve heard countless times before turning to your aunt and uncle, “End of discussion.”
You should’ve done it. You should’ve opted to burn. Regret pooled into your senses until it was all you could feel, until the only thing you could see was that beckoning flame, calling your name to come home.
Just as you could feel the sting of tears behind your lids, you felt him. Two hands slid over yours and rhythmic tapping reverberated throughout your skull from above your ear. You slowly opened your eyes, and Jungkook occupied your line of sight. He did you the grace of looking away. You weren’t sure if it was because of the shameful sight in front of you or if it was because he knew you were embarrassed, but you liked to pretend it was the latter.
1, 2, 3, 4
Jungkook swallowed thickly as he listened for your breathing to stabilize. He looked above your head at the clock on the wall and sighed. He was going to be late for his meeting with his team on digging up the whereabouts of the most coveted target. He could easily walk away, but he stayed rooted in his spot, tapping in quartets as he waited patiently for you to calm down. Though he didn’t understand your affinity for the number, and you never disclosed it to him, he was thankful to be observant enough to notice it at times like these. So he watched the seconds tick by as he tapped, pausing for a few seconds in between each grouping, because the thought of leaving you alone like this felt like it would kill him. He already has a hard time sleeping knowing you’re just a few steps away, there’s no way he’d be able to work knowing you were in the throes of an episode. Finally, your breathing was becoming consistently normal until–
“No.” You whispered with something utterly sick to his ears laced in the word. It was fear. You were scared, and he had no idea why. Never in your years of friendship had he seen you truly afraid like this. He looked at you, boundaries be damned, and saw you were fixated on the TV.
Turning his head to see what it was, his entire body froze.
You had left the news on, and on it, Namjoon stared back at you as he conducted a press conference… as head of Bangtan Corporation. It was like your world ceased turning. The pressurized cracks on your life here gave in the moment you looked to Jungkook and realized he saw what frightened you, and you could see the wheels turning on why it could be. No poker faces could be had between you as despair reflected in both of your pupils. You were terrified to discover one of his boyfriends was the head, or at least one of the heads of Bangtan, and he was devastated to find out you knew enough to be afraid.
It was over, for both of you.

A/N: Enjoy! Happy late birthday @bloodline1632 I LOVE YOU SWEETIE AND HOPE YOU ENJOY!!!! <3333333
____________________________________________
Lucki found herself standing in front of a gigantic building on the edge of Manhattan. The infrastructure was entirely futuristic, which meant that it had to be wildly expensive. Was this the type of life “J” lived? So lavish and luxurious.
Lucki wasn’t used to this at all. Where she was from, everyone lived in apartment buildings. The typical section eight. Barely any AC and broken pipes. Broken dreams, and broken cries instead. No one could live like that. Fate just didn’t allow them that chance.
Y/n braced herself as she stepped forward to ring the houses doorbell. She tapped the black button, and suddenly a pleasant sound was presented to her in the form of music. A cute little ringer for such a fancy place. You see something new everyday around here, huh?
The same feminine voice that answered “J”s phone spoke over the outside speakers.
“Name?”
“Lucki. Or y/n Jung.”
“One moment please!”
There immediately came a buzzing sound, from one of the speakers at the door, and a click that followed.
The door was opened, revealing the inside of the mysterious yet entrancing building.
Portaits of art lined the home, completing the pair of velvet furniture to go with it. Comfortable couches fit for the monarchy, and glass tables so shiny one could see their own reflection in them. Glittery chandeliers Lucki couldn’t even afford to pay for with her life. Yes, everything looked that expensive. So expensive that with her near twenty year experience, she wouldn’t be able to afford damage.
Lucki continued walking cautiously through the living room, both trying to avoid accidents and sudden confrontation. In her efforts, she couldn’t feel the presence behind her, curiously watching her every move.
“Ahem.”
Lucki became shocked in an instant, placing her hand on top of the waistband of her pants, where her gun sat ready and cocked. It was her go to defense mechanism. Force of habit, one would call it.
“You are Ms.Jung, right?” The person asked
Lucki faced them, still on high alert. She was greeted by a familiar face; one of the guards traveling with J when they had first met at Carmens funeral.
“Oh…yea,” Began Lucki. “I’m here to see Mr.Park.”
The guard simply and softly smiled at Lucki, nodding her head in understanding.
“He’s just right upstairs, first door to your left. But first, I must take your weapon from you. The boss doesn’t allow people to see him with weapons in hand.”
Lucki nodded and handed over her handgun, reluctantly. Her gun, her protection. Their separation seemed like an omen of her death.
Unfortunately, this seemed like a set-up. But, this was Mr.Park. The same Park who showed her compassion at Carmens funeral. The same exact Park who even offered to help her solve her best friends murder.
Why would he want to set her up?
He was probably terrified. Petrified of guns and violence. He seemed to be a spectator, one who watches from outside the scope. Seeing everything the eye can behold, good and bad, sad and glad. Glory. Defeat. He probably had seen it all and prayed he wasn’t next.
That’s the only reason, Lucki thought. That’s the only reason a man would live like a king exiled from his own kingdom.
Before Lucki could turn around and resume her examinations, the guard spoke once again.
“Also, before you go up there, please change into these robes.” She advised, as she handed Lucki a soft white robe, completed with white fluffy slippers on top of it. “The boss hates outside germs inside of his home. He’s a bit of a germaphobe, so be careful.”
Lucki nodded once again whilst taking the articles of clothing from the guard. She somewhat understood the concern, germs were bad of course. But changing clothes? That was interesting to say the least. Even a bit excessive of Mr.Park.
Just as quick as she received her orders, Lucki changed into the stylish, but comfortable, garments. Her body felt as if it was wrapped in an everlasting warm hug. At all times, she was being snuggled by the robes fleece.
She began ascending the stairs, tiptoeing lightly. The stairs were built in a circular motion, making it feel like a merry go round. Y/n was slowly coming into dizziness, the constant twirl of the stairs, making her head and stomach spin.
Just in time, she reached the first door to her left, just where the guard said Mr.Park was. She gracefully knocked, waiting a bit for a response.
The door immediately is opened, to her surprise. Standing to greet her was a beautiful woman who had no hair: tattoos covering her head in place of tresses. She was wearing a very flattering white blouse, with long black bottoms and Christian louboutins.
“You’re Ms.Jung aren’t you?”
So she was the voice. The voice over the speakers, and over the phone when Lucki originally called.
“Uh, yea.”
“Please come in! Have a seat in front of him.”
“Thank you.”
At long last, Lucki was able to greet Mr.Park in person, properly at least. She plopped down in front of him, deciding to examine his office like she had done to the rest of his home. Lucki soon diverted her eyes to Jimin, who sat patiently waiting for her attention with a welcoming smile.
“Nice to finally see you Ms.Jung.”
Lucki paused her excavation, now looking at him.
“Thanks. It’s nice to see you too, Mr.Park.”
Lucki and Mr.park both extended a hand to meet each other’s in the middle. They shook each other’s hands happily.
“Please, call me Jimin. There’s no need for formalities.”
“Ok.” Said Lucki.
“Are you hungry? I’m sure you haven’t eaten well in the last few days.”
Jimin was incredibly perceptive. He was extremely correct. Food had barely touched the corners of y/ns lips. She was just eating basic snacks, something like little Debbie pies. Things like little chips here and there. She couldn’t force herself to eat a full meal just yet. The power of grief made her feel sick to her stomach. Mourning took away her human needs, and the effects of that looked very visible on her.
“……… yes.”
“Aldina my darling! Please bring two menus here for my guest and I.”
There was a bit of silence before the same woman who greeted Lucki at the door arrived again with menus in hand. She grinned softly, but there was light radiating from herself. Lucki admired the woman’s uniqueness. She’d never seen someone be able to express themself so extremely. Numerous tattoos lined the woman’s cranium, decorated like a painting that was crafted meticulously for hours.
“Here you are,” she said as she handed both of them small brochures. “I am Aldina. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to tell me.”
“No problem. Thank you.”
Aldina excused herself, but not without Jimin’s longing puppy eyes following her sashaying figure out of the room. Lucki saw this. She understood how Jimin probably felt for Aldina.
“You should go for it, Jimin. She’s really pretty and nice too.”
Jimin froze, his cheeks turning an angry shade of red.
“Was it that obvious?”
Lucki smiled and nodded twice.
“Let us look through our menus!” Jimin announced as he pushed his nose into the open brochure, trying his very best to hide from embarrassment.
Lucki chuckled, and began to read her own menu right after.
“I really want to date her, but I’m afraid. She’s so daring and loves trying new things. And me, I’m more prude and sheltered. If I could never leave my home, I would but, my job forces me to.But then again, that’s simply what I love about her. ”
“Well,” y/n started. “If you really like her, you should be willing to try the things she likes, and vice versa.”
Jimin nodded along. “That is true.”
Sooner or later, the pair ordered and was brought their piping hot meals. It was brought out like how it usually happened in the movies. Unveiled from the steel basting cover, revealing one of the most beautiful meals Lucki had ever feasted her eyes upon. Finally her stomach gave in. It unclenched and was ready to allow her to devour a meal after this long.
As they dug in, Jimin went into his drawer and pulled out a creme folder.
He opened it, the first picture in the deck of evidence being a picture of a playing card. An Ace to be exact.
Lucki stared holes into it.
“I bet you’re wondering what I even have to do with this case.” Said Jimin. “At least a month ago, my sister was left incredibly handicapped by someone. A gunshot wound to the head, and one to the chest she brutally received. Just like everyone else in the folder of evidence. The FBI couldn’t give me an answer, so I went searching for them myself.”
“This took me a little time, but it felt like centuries. I spent time immersing myself and my team in the streets, gathering important information, and playing devils advocate. I made lots of potential friends, that led me up to this point.”
“The killers Alias is Ace. Ace as in Ace of spades.”
Lucki dropped her fork in her food, looking up at Jimin in awe of his ability to figure out such information. Tears formed in her eyes. She was finally getting close, close to putting Carmens death to rest.
“Ace…..Ace?”
“Yes. It took so long for me to find out, but I figured it out. The killer left a piece of evidence at every scene, trying to tell people who they were.”
Jimin removed a stack of pictures from the folder and handed it to Lucki.
“He left a playing card, an Ace covered in blood at every scene.”
Luckis grip was everything but calm and steady as she examined the cards details. Just as Jimin stated, the card was drenched in blood, but one was still able to see that it was an Ace regardless.
The FBI neglected to show Lucki this piece of evidence before. Was it because they didn’t know about it?
“The FBI wants me to stop meddling in this case, cause they say it’s too dangerous, but they’ve proven to me that they’re incompetent. That’s why I believe people like you and I, are best for solving this. That’s why I called you. I knew that together, we could bring justice for my sister, and your best friend. Only if you’re willing of course.”
Lucki was quick to decide. She wanted nothing more than to bring justice to whoever took Carmen away from her. She wanted nothing less than to spit on the grave of whoever stole Carmen’s life as it blossomed in its prime. Killing a caterpillar in its cocoon. Someone had to pay for that.
“Yes. Without a doubt, yes.”
Jimin grinned brightly. He reached over the table to engulf a hand of Luckis within his own.
“Thank you, Ms.Jung. It’s a pleasure. I will make sure that we catch this person and put them under the jail for what they’ve done to us and several others.”
Lucki nodded firmly. She already felt herself trusting Jimin’s words. The man seemed highly genuine, not an inch of deceit coating his soft spoken words.
But his position in her world was confirmed. He was a spectator. He did watch from the sideline in a way. Maybe only meddling when he needed to. He wasn’t off putting, even as a rich person, which possibly put him in a good position with a bunch of other people in the streets. Everyone hated the condescending, but loved the curious. There was a noticeable difference when it came to rich folk who reared their heads in gang politics. Jimin was obviously the latter: curious.
Lucki was Jimin’s first guest in a long while to be waved off by him at his own front door step. His usual goodbye happened from the confines of his office, but he felt he had a heart to extend to her. They were in the same situation. They were both looking for answers in a place where there seemed to be none.
Lucki waved goodbye too, happiness drenching her skin for the first time since Carmens death. Jimin’s revelations were a godsend. For the first time, her search felt meaningful. She could have hope and faith that the murderer would be found. She could tell Carmen that she could truly Rest In Peace.
Finally, Jimin’s private cab drove off, speeding away from his expensive home.
Lucki watched on for a second time, as the tall glass buildings complimented this side of town. The condos, and the fancy stores and shops made her eye twinkle. Like a child, she reached out for her distant dreams of the opposite of poverty. The bright side of the moon that she couldn’t see.
Y/n stared for what seemed like forever, until her thoughts were interrupted by her blaring ringtone.
It was Hobi.
“Yeah,” answered Lucki.
“Y/n, the fbi wants to meet with us again. The location is Paco’s coffee and creme. Hurry up and get there in like ten.”
“Ugh,ok.” Lucki said, disgusted. The last thing she wanted to do was speak to those assholes, but she couldn’t evade the law unfortunately. She was still latched onto the thought that hey probably would arrest her and anyone associated with her if they didn’t comply. Of course she wouldn’t want to take such a chance.
She tapped the driver on the shoulder, alerting him of her sudden detour. He rerouted, efficiently switching directions.
Conveniently, Paco’s coffee and creme was just down the street from their current location.
Quickly, Lucki hopped out of the car, saying thank you. She dashed up to Hoseok, standing next to him and watching the license plate of the car jiggle as the car sped off.
Hoseok eyed his sister. “How was that Park guy? Was he cool?”
“Yup. He made a break in the case these dumbasses couldn’t. Why do they even want to meet us again? Didn’t they say they would wait until we called?”
Two years worth of memories flooded Luckis brain with just a whiff of a familiar fragrance. Dark Noir, the cologne of a boy who once had her back. He was once proof that in this world, she could trust no one but her own family. He was evidence that a kiss meant bullshit. Feelings and crushes meant dog shit to people, and they were willing to trade it and break it for business deals and a double cross.
Yes, it was him. It was that asshole who broke her little teenaged heart.
“Uncle hobi, nice to see you.”
Undeniably him, the boy who had to trade loyalty for his manhood.
“Lucki. Longtime no see.”
Jeon Jungkook. Nearly the bane of her teen existence.
“Nice to finally see you both after so long.”
His voice reverberated in Luckis cranium, as she couldn’t believe it was really him. She hated him. Why was he here?
Of course, Hoseok was delighted to see the “traitor”. His reaction was merely natural. Anyone would be excited to see the child they once baby-sat all grown up.
Hobi hugged Jungkooks muscular frame, patting his back lovingly.
“Ah, you’re all adult now! I feel like an old man standing next to you and y/n. My babies are finally grown. It’s like from an ugly duckling to pretty swans.”
Jungkook laughed, whilst Lucki scoffed. That was Hobis way of showing love; making wise cracks.
To spoil the moment, Detectives Min and Kim appeared. It seemed like they sucked the fun out of the atmosphere whenever they arrived.
“Let’s head inside shall we? We have important matters to discuss.” Detective Kim commanded. He led the way into Pacos, and Min secured a table for them all to sit at.
Jungkook kept a lingering stare on Luckis backside. Seeing her again for the first time in two years was surreal. She was even prettier than her seventeen year old self. Even then, she seemed to be the same old y/n. She still dressed the same, with her baggy jeans, and tight fitted shirts. He remembered that her and Carmen liked to dress alike.
Jungkook felt sorry for Lucki. He knew how much Carmen meant to her. Everyone knew it, but to see their friendship at work was a different story. He’d lived it, honestly. They truly were a dynamic duo in their own right.
As they all took their seats, Luckis shoulder brushed Jungkooks broad one, making Jungkook shudder. He felt as if he was treading on thin ice around her. The atmosphere was rigid. It felt like something was going to explode near him, and all he had to do was just wait for it to happen.
Kim started, sighing in defeat already. He had gotten no where with this case since he and Min had been assigned to it, and he felt like shit. They hadn’t even touched the surface of the rabbit hole the case bled into, and every piece of “evidence” they collected were nearly already public knowledge.
“As you already knew, this case is a huge case. We interviewed your friend over here, Mr.Jeon, and we’ve concluded that he had nothing to do with it.”
Luckis eyes couldn’t stop themselves from slipping to the back of her head. “Ok? What does that have to do with me? Have you even found anything other than that?”
Hobi jumped, startled, but not shocked by his sisters answer to the statement.
“Lucki, please.”
“No Hobi. Don’t try and silence me,” Lucki glared at both investigators, their antics putting her at her wits end. “You are both incompetent! You haven’t found any other piece of evidence that can move the case forward. There are people who have gotten farther with this investigation than you two have and I’m supposed to trust you with my best friends justice? Fat chance, at best.”
Kim, now on his defense, had veins popping out of his neck. It was like Lucki was rubbing it in. He knew that they hadn’t found anything, it wasn’t like he was ignoring the fact.
“I fucking get it! I know that we haven’t fucking found shit on the case, alright? We’re frustrated too!”
“Not enough!” Yelled Lucki. “You clearly aren’t looking hard enough. If you were, you would know that the killers alias is ace!”
The room paused, as all of the tables guests exchanged glances with each other. It was now Mins turn to chime in.
“How did you know that? Why didn’t you tell us earlier?”
“I just found out today from a little birdy. He’s gotten way farther than you both have.”
Kim facepalmed, as Min wrote the important information down. It was clear that they needed to come to a compromise. Kim needed this big break, and Lucki wanted Justice. There was only one way for them to do this.
“Fine,” Kim began. “I’ll admit, we’re down and out. I don’t wanna let this case slip out of my fingers, so let’s just do this. How about, we work together? We can make real things happen. We’re the FBI, right? We can really arrest people when push comes to shove.”
“We can make sure that whoever Ace is, will be under the jail, but that would mean that we all have to work together. Everyone’s level of expertise would be needed.”
Lucki hated the sound of that plan. This means that she would have to work with Jungkook, and she despised his guts. But on the other hand, Kim was right. The FBI had plenty of authority. They could do a lot more than Jimin could probably do, with his limited authority.
With a deep breath and clenched eyes, Lucki nodded in reluctant agreement.
She was to compromise.
“Okay. I’ll do it.” She said.
Jungkook went wide eyed, surprised at Luckis answer.
“I’ll do it, too.” He said.
“Okay. We have ourselves a deal.”
“But one condition,” detective Kim said.
“You tell us everything your source is telling you.”

Jin was right. As the boys were all dressed and ready to head out for the day, they definitely didn’t expect you to be standing there at the front door. Your hand was frozen mid air, as if you were going to ring the doorbell.
“Oh!” You took a step back in surprise. You had stood there for a good 5 minutes, totally unnoticed by the staff of the mansion.
“(y/n).” They all spoke, not bothering to mask their surprise as well.
“Sorry, is this a bad time? I can totally come back again and-”
“No, it’s not. Please, come in. We can talk inside.” Namjoon regained composure first, gesturing towards the inner sanctions of the house. You bowed your head respectfully and removed your shoes before walking behind them. You sat with them in the living room once again, giving you a sense of deja vu. Jungkook ordered drinks and snacks.
As the butlers and maids rushed to fix drinks and snacks, not having prepared since the owners of the house were supposed to be out working the entire day, you sat there, wringing the material of your skirt.
“Calm down.” Taehyung placed a hand on your shoulder and you visibly relaxed, just a little.
“Young masters, agashi.” The butler bowed as he placed the tray of drinks down. With a wave of his hand, Namjoon sent the staff out.
“I... I wanted to apologise, firstly.” You suddenly stood up, bowing deeply to all of them. Another unexpected action from you. The boys all looked at each other, unsure of how to act or respond.
“I’ve been selfish and insensitive. Whatever my relationship was or... wasn’t with that man, I shouldn’t have been acting so immature. Sorry.” You said, head still bowed.
“(y/n), i-tt’s fine. Let’s sit down and talk.” Jin said, going forward as you straightened up. He gestured for you to take your seat again.
“You have all lost somebody, who I am sure... is... was... very important to you. And instead of grieving, you’ve been having to chase me around and pacify me. That wasn’t fair to you.” You looked at all of them. Jimin rolled his eyes, keeping his gaze on the side.
“I’m sorry.” You repeated.
“(y/n), it’s okay, really. Stop apologising.” Hoseok said.
“Idiot. I told you not to let the words get to you.” Yoongi sat up from his leaned position on the armchair. You pursed your lips, knowing he was referring to your conversation that happened when he was at your place a few nights ago.
“What Yoongi hyung said aside, we’re glad you came, (y/n). It was also our fault for pushing you and letting things get so far. We want to apologise for that.” Namjoon said.
“Hyung-”
“Jimin.” Jin stopped the younger from interrupting their leader. Taehyung patted his best friend on the hand. A silent signal to just let it go.
“I don’t really know where to go from this. My mother, she was my world. And if she believed in me working with you, for some reason, I should try. And like you said, I’m being targeted, if this grants me safety, so be it.” You confessed.
“But I don’t know anything in business.” You added.
“I’m not going to lie, we were not expecting that. But thank you, (y/n). I would say, don’t worry. We will guide you slowly on how this words, as necessary. But I think, we should get to know one another more before we get into all that business stuff.” Namjoon spoke, the first one to recover from being stunned by your words.
“Yeah. We’re the best at what we do. Don’t care about not having the skills and whatnot.” Hoseok nodded in agreement.
“So filial piety is what moves you.” Yoongi added.
“Yes. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. But I should at least give it a chance. If I don’t like it, I get closer to knowing what I really want.” You replied. Yoongi raised his eyebrows in amusement at you rephrasing his words.
“But, I... still can’t accept him as my father... I’m sorry.” You hung your head down low.
“We understand. Take your time. Fresh wounds take time to heal. Don’t force it.” Jin reached over to squeeze your shoulder.
“Thank you for taking the time to speak to me, even if I don’t deserve it. I should let you all get back to what you were doing now.” You stood up, rubbing your slightly sweaty palms on your skirt.
“First thing to learn, don’t speak of yourself as an inconvenience. If we didn’t think you’d deserved it or that you were a bother, we wouldn’t have given you the time of day. Trust me, we’re busy people.” Hoseok stopped you. You felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
“Shall I take you home?” Taehyung asked.
“Actually, can I speak to Namjoon sshi in private?” You requested meekly. The boys all paused, turning to the leader, who just remained stoic.
“Sure. Right this way. We can talk in my office.” Namjoon said. He guided you to his office. You bowed to the other 6 before rushing after Namjoon. You followed him up the stairs.
“Can I get you a drink?” He asked as he closed the door behind you.
“No, thanks.” You said. He gestured for you to take a seat while he sat down in his seat, on his side of the desk.
“I-I just wanted to apologise to you... the most. Since we met, I’ve just been a horrible person. I’ve been stand offish and unfair.” You sighed.
“(y/n), (y/n). There’s nothing for you to be sorry about. I understand, I’ve not exactly been the bearer of good news since I showed up at your door. Anyone would have felt and reacted the same way you did, I don’t hold any animosity or resentment. In fact, I think I’m still reeling from the shock of you being here and accepting this quickly.” Namjoon confessed.
“Well, I wouldn’t really say accept. More of... try. If my mother thought I could do it, I guess she saw something that I didn’t. Or maybe she’s just a hopeful parent, wanting her child to succeed.” You shrugged.
“But I will be safer with you all?” You asked.
“I believe so. There are guards and security in place to keep you safe. Rather than being alone in your house without any guards.” He said.
“Do we know why I am targeted yet? Like I said, I don’t know anything... My mother never really told me much about her life. I’m still finding things out now, even after her death.”
“I promise we’re trying our best to find out why you’re being targetted and by who. Although, it is probably because you’re the daughter of your father and now that he isn’t around anymore, you could be the target to attain his company.” Namjoon explained.
“I see...” You gulped.
“(y/n), even if you don’t work with us, you can still be protected by us. You don’t have to force yourself to work in the company just to be granted protection.” Namjoon assured.
“But I can’t just ask you guys to help me without anything in exchange. It is not fair and right to do that.” You said.
“Let’s be realistic here. Theoretically, if you don’t like all this or it doesn’t suit you, what will you do then?” Namjoon leaned forward on his elbows.
“I’ll sign my rights as the head of the company and my inheritance away.” You declared. Namjoon seemed to contemplate your words for a moment before nodding his head, understanding.
While you were speaking to Namjoon, the other 6 had not left the house for their scheduled meetings yet.
“When did you get so close with her, hyung?” Taehyung asked.
“We’re not close. We just had a meal and talked.” Yoongi shrugged, not giving much away.
“The one that would have the most information on her would be Jin hyung.” Hoseok pointed out. Jin didn’t react. Whatever he knew was not relevant to information that the others needed to know.Jimin rolled his eyes and walked away. Jungkook noticed and chased after his older brother.
“Hyung. You okay?” Jungkook asked as they entered the garage carpark downstairs. Jimin stopped, his back still facing the youngest.
“Do you believe her? Everything she says.” Jimin asked, leaning against the hood of his car with a bitter chuckle. He took a hit of his vape before stuffing it back into his jacket pocket.
“What’s there to believe? If she wants the work, she can work. She came here to apologise. What else?” Jungkook put his hands into his pockets, an indifferent look on his face to show that he didn’t really care.
“I don’t like her.”
“I think you have made that very clear.” Jungkook replied.
“Why are you all being so nice to her? Just because she is our boss’ daughter? We never let anything into our circle and now look. It feels like we’re falling apart trying to chase after her.” Jimin yelled in frustration.
“We’re all doing this to help Namjoon hyung. Namjoon hyung wants to make this work, not because she is our boss’ daughter but beccause it was his promise to boss before he died. He couldn’t make up with her so he wants us to do it in his stead. Besides, we haven’t really given her much of a fighting chance.” Jungkook said.
“She’s our boss’ daughter but what about us? Didn’t we all see him or regard him as our father? The way she treats him like nothing?” Jimin asked.
“But that’s not exactly her fault, hyung. Yes, he was a father figure to all 7 of us. But what about her? She was abandoned, just like all of us were by our own parents.” The younger spoke truthfully.
“I know...” Jimin stood up, blinking back his tears. He entered his car and drove off, leaving the maknae there, standing in the carpark.
“Jungkook. Why are you just standing there? Ready to go?” Hoseok came downstairs.
“Yeah...” Jungkook shook his head to regain composure. He entered the car, where Hoseok was waiting for him in the passenger seat. Starting the engine, he began to drive.
“What, Tae? Why are you looking at me like that?” Yoongi asked.
“Nothing.” Taehyung slid off the bar stool and walked out, slipping on his jacket. He headed towards the front door, where his driver was waiting for him. Jin gathered his things, tucking his iPad under his arm. Seeing the oldest ready to leave, Yoongi stood up.
“What? You reluctant to leave?” Jin teased. Yoongi rolled his eyes, walking off and leaving Jin behind. Yoongi dropped Jin off at his meeting location before heading to his own work place.
After speaking with Namjoon, he offered to drop you back home. When you came down with him, you noticed that the living room was empty.
“Must have all gone to work.” Namjoon said.
“Wow.” You couldn’t hold back your shock when you followed Namjoon down to the basement garage. There were so many expensive cars lined up, it was a lot. You followed Namjoon to one of the cars, a Bugatti.
“Watch your head.” He cautioned as he opened the passenger door for you to enter. After that, he went to the driver’s side and drove to your house.
“If you ever need help, here is my number.” Namjoon handed you a card as he dropped you off.
“Thank you, Namjoon.” You received the card with two hands. You opened the car door and walked into your house. Like the others, Namjoon waited for you to go in before driving off.
“Oh my gosh.” You sunk onto the ground, putting a hand over your racing heart. It felt like your heart was beating too fast to the point where you felt nauseous. Where did your sudden confidence come from? That you would voluntarily go down to the mansion and speak to the 7 men like that. But now, your facade could break.
RINGGGGGG
“Huh?!” You jumped in shock, fumbling for your phone.
“Oh, hey Wonwoo... Yeah, I wasn’t feeling well, that’s why I haven’t been at university. It’s mainly online work anyway.” You pressed the phone between your ear and shoulder.
“No, you don’t need to come down. I’m fine, really. I should be better by tomorrow.” You dug through your fridge, looking for something to eat.
You’ve skipped university for three days without a note or message, which probably worried Wonwoo. But with everything else, university was the last thing on your mind. Only Wonwoo would notice your absence anyway.
“No need, I’ll just collect my work from the professors. Thanks... I’ll see you tomorrow.” You said and hung up.
Jimin didn’t know where he was driving to, he just kept driving, letting the loud roar of his car’s engine fill the air. He never liked change, he didn’t like new people, he was happy with what he had now.
The fact that his brothers are so ready to accept you was beyond him. He didn’t know what your intentions were and from his duties in Bangtan, he learnt not to trust people so easily. He has met all kinds of scum from all walks of life and he knew there was always an ulterior motive.
RINGGGGG
“Yes, Namjoon hyung?” Jimin answered.
“Are you going for the poker game tonight? The secretary minister will be there for an information trade.”
“Right... I forgot about the game tonight... Since there’s an information trade, I’ll go. Jungkook and Jin hyung won’t be able to go in my stead. Let me know where tonight’s game is later.” He replied.
“Alright, I will prepare the address and ask Jin hyung for the information packet to hand over.”
Jimin possessed a combination of Jin’s card game skills and Taehyung’s deception skills, which made him the best person to play these low profile, high stakes games. He knew how to read the players and the game.
“Boss.” The staff greeted Jimin when he walked in.
“How’s business been?” He asked as he inspected the space and the bar. He hasn’t been checking in on the businesses since Namjoon told him to take a break so he was using this time to ensure that operations were still running smoothly. The manager made Jimin a drink and handed him the money from the previous nights of work.
“Not bad...” Jimin commented as he counted the money on the bar counter. Clubs were the best place to earn money.
“Here. Take everyone out for a good dinner. For working hard despite my absence.” He handed the manager $1000 from the stack. The manager’s eyes widened as he received the money.
“T-Thank you boss!” Everyone bowed deeply.
“Continue to work hard.” Jimin said as he put the remaining money into his pocket and left. There were still other places of business to visit.
After he was done with his inspections, Jimin needed to head home to get ready. He picked out a nice suit, one that was more opulent than what he would wear for work.
“Jimin?” He heard Hoseok’s voice outside his door as he was doing his hair.
“Come in.” He replied, not turning away from the mirror. The older came in with a few boxes and placed them on the dresser.
“Here, your order came in. Just in time, I’m guessing.” Hoseok informed. Jimin put the hairdryer down and looked through the boxes. He pinned the rose diamond brooch to the collar of his suit jacket and picked out other accessories to wear tonight.
“Could you help me put the rest of them in my closet?” Jimin requested. Hoseok nodded and put the rest into Jimin’s already full closet. He sat down on the couch Jimin had in his room.
“What?” Jimin stopped, turning around to look at the other.
“You good?” Hoseok asked. Jimin shrugged but nodded his head, facing the mirror again. He fixed his earrings in place.
“I know you’re here to talk to me about (y/n). There’s nothing to talk about, I don’t have anything else to say.” Jimin said, going into his closet to retrieve his shoes, deciding to go with his chelsea boots that had a small heel.
“Okay. But Chim, don’t feel like we’re against you or suddenly on her side against yours, alright?”
“Mhmm.” Jimin hummed. He stood up as he was done getting ready. Hoseok followed him out of the room and Jimin locked his room doors.
“Good luck tonight.” Hoseok wished.
“You know I always win.” Jimin smirked. Now, he needed to find Jin to get his information for the trade tonight. When he arrived at his door, there was a note and a thumbdrive taped to the wood.
‘Sleeping, do not disturb. To Jimin, this is what you need. - Jin’
Jimin tilted his head but removed the thumbdrive, peeling off the tape. He slipped the small item into his jacket pocket and went to find Namjoon. The leader was in his office, on the phone with someone. Seeing Jimin poke his head in, he waved for him to come over and slid a folder over to him. It had some information and a picture of Jimin’s target for the night.
“I’m going now.” Jimin said and Namjoon nodded, giving him a thumbs up as he listened to whoever was on the other side of the phone.
“Young master Jimin, the car is ready for you.” The butler informed. Jimin walked out and the chauffeur opened the door for him. Since it was expected of him to drink, Jimin never drove.
With the address, Jimin watched as the car entered a residential area. It stopped before a rundown fishing shop.
“A fishing and tackle shop? Seriously?” Jimin scoffed as he wore his sunglasses. The chauffeur opened the car door for him to come out. He pushed open the shop door to enter but the cashier paid him no mind.
“Right this way.” An employee led Jimin to the back, opening a door that led to the basement.
“Welcome, Mr Park.” A more well-dressed hostress greeted him.
“Can I take your jacket?” She asked.
“I’ll hold onto it. My drink is rum, on the rocks.” Jimin informed. She nodded with a bow and led Jimin further in. She opened a door where Jimin saw the game already running. He went to the bar first.
“Rum on the rocks.” The bartender placed his drink onto the black marble counter top.
“Mr Park. Glad you could make it tonight.”
“Secretary minister. Of course, I wouldn’t miss a game organised by you.” Jimin planted on his fake smile as he shook hands with the secretary minister. He was the organiser of this underground game, all a ruse for him to exchange information with Bangtan.
“I look forward to seeing you play tonight.” The old man smiled. Jimin just nodded his head. After that, he walked away. Jimin scanned the room from his position at the bar, there were many notable politicians and celebrities.
“Here.” Jimin handed a tip to the bartender, taking his glass to the table.
Everyone was focused on the game. No one noticed the note taped to the bottom of Jimin’s glass or the thumbdrive wrapped in the tip bills Jimin handed to the bartender.
Tonight was going to be a good night to play.

Masterlist Epilogue
"You'll open your stitches, Yoongi-ah," Kim Seokjin noted with a monotonous tone, his eyes still trained on the tablet he was holding when he heard a rustling of the sheets, the first ever sign that the man was truly alive. The mafia prince that turned medical director was sitting comfortably, his long leg over the other as though he had gotten a good night's sleep since the mayhem that happened. It was the eighth day since Yoongi was in a coma, and similarly, it was the eighth day since you passed.
Since then, numerous things transpired- and they were all of violent nature. The five of them shed volume of blood, more so by the youngest of them. It was too bad for the traitors that Jeon Jungkook was frustrated because he almost found his wife. She was almost within his grasp when he was urgently needed back in Korea because unshockingly, one of their brothers was trying to kill the other. And well, the organization needed cleansing of traitors.
Additionally, it was worse for the traitors because the moment he returned was the moment he found his sunshine gone.
Yoongi was physically healing, as evidenced by his vitals that Seokjin was diligently monitoring. It was expected. Yoongi was not likened to a cat for nothing. They all physically saw him fall from the third floor, stood up, and brushed his hands as though it was nothing when they were younger. There was not even an ounce of doubt in their minds that he would wake up one of these days.
That was the thing, Yoongi was healing. But now, Seokjin wondered what would happen once he knew what happened to you.
He didn't have to wait long.
"W-where is she?" Yoongi asked with apparent effort, his hand clutching his shoulder with a barely restrained pain flashing on his face. "I need to go to her. She must be so scared," He sat up and waited for Seokjin to say something, anything.
And he waited, and waited- yet, Kim Seokjin didn't answer him. He merely regarded him with a somber expression on him, a foreign look on his usual jovial face. Jin's jaw was clenched, and he hated to be the bearer of bad news.
Yoongi blinked, looking at the older man's eyes with quick realization. He couldn't have gotten any paler even if he wanted to, his eyes widened at what he already knew.
"No. Hyung, no. Fucking no," he shook his head, his movements quick as he pulled the dextrose harshly from his skin, blood now dripping on his hand. He stood up as he aimed for the door, every step he took was shaky, yet his determination to see you was strong. "Take me to her! Where is she!"
Jin tried as best as he could to contain the man, and that was how Kim Namjoon found them. He should have known, he was no match to a man who just lost the only person he ever loved. Namjoon immediately helped his hyung, securing Yoongi's other arm on his side. But the mafia leader was like a wounded animal, thrashing around as it tried to find reprieve. In this case, it was you who was his peace.
"Hyung, stop it! You're going to hurt yourself," Namjoon ordered as gently as he could, but it fell on deaf ears. Yoongi looked at Namjoon, his dark eyes filled with panic and unshed tears. He thought that maybe Namjoon would take him to you.
You were just hurt, right? You were just resting that was why his hyung couldn’t take him to you…right? You were somewhere here. He just needed to ask more, to impose more, and if needed, he just had to scream louder for you and you would come to him…right?
You were alive, right?!
"Namjoon-ah, where is my angel, hmm? Take me to her!" his voice were shaking as he fisted his hands on Namjoon’s shirt, trying to get the taller man to look at him, to listen to him. He was close to pleading, and he wasn’t above it.
Why were they quiet?
Why were they looking at him as though they pity him?
He wasn’t pitiful, he thought. He had you.
The two men shared a downcasted look. Both men didn't know how to tell him that you didn't survive, that not even your remains survived. But they had to.
"She didn't...survive."
Yoongi blinked, and the two of them were quiet as they waited with bated breath for his reaction. Yet, Yoongi just straightened up while chuckling. “Stop lying, Namjoon.”
“He’s not lying,” Jin stated before showing you the necklace he kept in his pocket…your necklace. “This was the only thing left in the scene. You’re the Chief of Police. You know what this means, Yoongi-ah.”
Yoongi smirked before marching to the door. “T-that’s not hers.”
“Hyung, where are you going?”
“To find her. She’s not dead. She’s not gone. S-She promised me she would never leave me. She never breaks her p-promise,” he struggled to say each word as his body had not yet fully recovered. His determination was commendable, but seeing him reduced to denying your death broke what was left of the brothers’ hearts. “Angel needs m-me. I cannot fail her. N-not this time.”
Yoongi’s body swayed to the side, yet he remained steadfast, walking to where he thought you were. And if he needed to crawl, then he would. If he needed to kneel just to see you, then he would be down on his fucking knees, begging for your forgiveness.
His body failed him the moment he opened the door, his barely-recovered form crashing on the ground that Jin had no choice but to contain the thrashing man the best way he could. With a small prick on his neck, Min Yoongi lost consciousness.
The last thing he called for was you.
Even in his dreams, you never came.

Chapter One: The Arrangement
Pairing: poly!ot7 x reader
Genre: Mafia Au, Strangers to lovers, yandere Au
warnings: none
Tumblr media
November 16, 2015
Fall was always your favorite season of the year. It's when you and your father got to spend the most time with each other. However this year was different than any other.
"What are the streets saying these days, Gwi-Nam?"
"Rumor has it Bangtan just acquired some territory in Gwangju and Islan, right near Seoul", Gwi-Nam told your father. "Next up is Busan."
Your father huffed. "Who is Bangtan?" He asked.
Knock Knock.
Your father was not surprised to see you enter his office so suddenly. After school you would always visit him in his office, knowing that's usually where he is. You waved at Gwi-Nam and plopped in the chair in front of your fathers desk, paying little attention to their conversation.
"Bangtan is a new gang, led by a man named Kim Namjoon. Apparently, he's recruiting people from all over South Korea to Join his gang and has lots of powerful people already lined up" Gwi-Nam answered.
"So your telling me that a rookie gang leader has already obtained two whole territories?" Your father didn't seem as calm as you thought he would be. He honestly looked kind of worried.
"This is not good", he continued. "Any form of contact on this Namjoon kid? Maybe we can turn things around while he's still young and impressionable."
A couple days later and your father was finally able to have a meeting with Bangtan. However, he wasn't just having a meeting with the leader like he was expecting. After Kim Namjoon entered your fathers office, six other bodies followed.
"I apologize for not informing you sooner", Namjoon started. "But these are my partners and co leaders of Bangtan. Therefore, they couldn't miss this meeting."
It was hard to hear the whole conversation between them and your father from outside his office. You eavesdropped as hard as you could before hearing shuffling footsteps. In attempts to hide, you turned the corner into one of the many hallways in your family mansion.
"Listen, we appreciate the offer", You heard one of them say with a condescending tone. "However, there's already seven of us. Its not ideal for Bangtan." Letting curiousity get the better of you, you peeked your head out of the hallway, seeing the gang and your father standing in front of his office doors.
"You wont be able to acquire even a piece of Seoul territory without me", Your father promised.
"Wanna bet?"
While your father and the leader of Bangtan went back and forth, one of the members strayed away, walking in your direction. Did he see you? I mean it sure wasn't the best hiding spot but you tried.
"Jungkook, where are you headed?" He turned back around.
"Hyung, look", The boy pointed to the hallway you where hiding in. Everyone turned their heads to see you peeking out. Now feeling exposed, you walk out into the open, waving at everyone shyly.
"And who may this fine young woman be?" One of the members looked you up and down. Gwi-Nam ran and grabbed your arm, escorting you to your room.
"She is my daughter, and I swear if you even think about-"
"She's very beautiful, sir", Namjoon stated as we walked towards the exit. "I would watch her carefully. Some men might fight to have someone as gorgeous as her by their side."
Tumblr media
April 20, 2018
Bangtan had become the Dracula of South Korea. They now owned territory in every single city- even most of Seoul.
"You put up a hell of a good fight I'll tell you that", Namjoon laughed in your fathers face. "You know I bet that I could take Seoul territory by today. Aish, now I owe Jin a meal.”
He rolled his eyes. "I promised you that wouldn't happen, remember? Not unless you let me in on bangtan affairs."
"Well I've obviously proved that I can do it without you. Out of the twenty five districts in Seoul you now only own three of them."
He gulped nervously.
"Face it. You've met your match old man."
This couldn't be the end. It couldn't possibly end like this, at the hands of his enemy and not the hands of old age or retirement. Grasping for straws, your father gets desperate. "What do you want? H-how can I keep my territory?"
Joon sighed. "Well there is one thing you have that I want. You can't get your territory back but if you give me her than I'll let you keep what you have left."
Her.
Namjoon said her.
"You m-mean my..."
"Yes. Our lovely Y/n", He smiled. "Where is she anyway? All the little ones do is talk about her."
Your father felt sick to his stomach. What did he want with you, anyway? "N-no, you can't have her! I won't let you!"
"Listen, I'm trying to be nice here. Do it for Y/n, for your legacy."
He fought tooth and nail to keep you, but it was time to weigh his options and right now this was the best one. Unfortunately, you were still off at college during the time of the arrangement, but Namjoon didn't worry. They'd get to have you when you got back home.

i finished vampire the masquerade bloodlines after chipping away at it for a couple weeks after work. Those first 2/3rds of the game are a genuine masterpiece, but man, that last third gets really, really weird and racist.
The thing is, is that I actually have very little to say about that first 2/3rds. It's just good. The design is great, it's well balanced, it's open ended, it has great characters. It's wonderful. This part of the game feels like a real, worthy successor to Deux Ex. There's just nothing more to say, I think.
...
And that's why I almost have a hard time believing it's written by the same people as the last bit. The whole game up to that point (up to just before chinatown) is pretty darn smartly written with some relatively cogent social commentary. The quality of the missions also takes a really, really steep dive in that section too (lots of run and gun hallways, lots of extremely buggy areas, shitty boss fights, etc. But that's honestly understandable because balancing the endgame of an ImSim is practically impossible). Idk, it feels like a totally different game. I could almost just forgive all of that though, if it weren't for the ungodly and seemingly genuine racism with regards to the east Asian vampires.
Like. Ok. If we're being VERY charitable and we just flatly forgive all of the misguided-though-not-malintentioned 2000s era attempts at humor-via-stereotype (dialogue options referencing "tentacles" directed at a young japanese woman; old chinese guys who are always loud and drunk; jingoistic WWII-surviving japanese soldier; Chinese businessman speaking in riddles and mentioning the I-Ching; so on and so on) the whole handling of the "chinese vampire" storyline is psychotically racist.
You first hear of these guys -- the Kuei-Jin, which I learn from the wiki is a portmanteau of the Mandarin word for ghost and a the Japanese word for person, which... ok. -- as being basically like animals. They slaughter who ever they see, lots of people in the bourgeois faction see them as a nuisance, the people in the anarchist faction see them as "invaders from the east," which already had me like "Jesus fucking Christ, maybe these anarchist guys aren't cool after all". But anyway, you go to Chinatown to talk to them and -- by my estimation -- they were basically the same as everyone else. They're protective of their territory, they're secretive, they're paranoid of outsiders... I mean, yeah, they're fucking vampires and apparently all the other vampires see them as sub-human, so yeah, I'd be paranoid and secretive around me too.
The thing is, is that you have this anarchist friend who you tell everything to -- Jack -- and I wanted to go tell him "hey, I don't think these guys are so bad. Maybe we misjudged them" or something like that. And there was a dialogue option along the lines of that, but when I said it, his response was something to the effect of "don't let them sweet talk you with their 'spiritual path' bullshit. That stuff ain't for /us/". Which, I heard and again, said "ah! Interesting writing decision! We're learning that Jack ALSO has flaws like everyone else! he's not just some perfectly cool, levelheaded badass -- he has unjustified prejudices just like everyone else!" So I continued the story under the assumption that, yes, while the surface level of the whole "Chinese vampire" thing was being handled in a really immature, racist way, and in-universe all the other factions seemed to see them as exactly that -- racist stereotypes of conniving, backstabbing Chinese mafia goons -- this was all setting up an interesting "let's all learn to put our cultural differences aside and defeat those rich assholes who want to rule LA"-style ending. This would not be the case.
There was a moment towards the end that I THOUGHT confirmed my suspicion. You are told by the leader of the bourgeois faction to convince the anarchist faction to ally with them so they can, together, take down the Kuei-Jin. Around this time you also are intercepted by the leader of the Kuei-Jin who straight up warns you "hey, that bourgeois guy set me up. He's about to set you up too. Be careful. I hope we can be friends in the future." So I get this information and go straight to the anarchist faction with the intention to say "Ok, bourgeois guys are obviously doing a power play. Now's the time to join with the Kuei-Jin and take them out. We'll settle our petty differences later." (Side note, yes, I understand they were recently at war, but war happens in these situations. The best way to prevent another war is actively making peace. Not by just constantly threatening to go BACK to war). But no such option was available. Instead, all the options were different variations on "Let's join with the bourgeois faction and kill those Chinese guys!" What? But I don't want to kill those guys! And I don't really trust either of these other factions either because the anarchists are racists and the bourgeois guys are, well, bourgeois guys.
So eventually the "ending-tron 3000" comes up in the form of a conversation with a taxi driver which, as far as ending-trons go, is pretty cute. If you decide to ally with the Kuei-Jin two things happen: one, everyone hates you because it's completely impossible to convince anyone that they are anything other than parasites, and two, they kill you in a cutscene and you die in the ocean, which, all things considered, is probably the worst possible way this whole story line could have been handled. There was an opportunity here to have an exceptionally interesting moment where you bring people together to fight in solidarity against those who seek to concentrate their power over the city and all it's inhabitants. There could have been an ending where you work together with the Kuei-Jin and the anarchists to get rid of the bourgeois faction, render the "anarchist" faction system redundant, and allow LA vampires to establish their own federated society where people can live where and how they please without the iron fist of some Ivory tower pretty boys telling everyone how to live their lives. You could establish a system of vampire democracy across LA, with all the benefits and negatives that it brings. Would LA then be crushed under the heel of the bourgeois faction coming in from other cities? Or would it be able to stand the test of time and serve as an example for other cities to rise up and do the same? There's some interesting stuff here, both politically and for individual characters as perhaps you have to work extra hard to get Jack and the rest of the anarchists to believe that the Kuei-Jin are, despite superficial differences, just vampires like they are and that they all share common interests.
Instead, the game goes hard in the other direction. It calls you an idiot for trusting those eastern invaders and basically says "you should have listened to everyone else when they were mumbling under their breath about how you can't trust those Kuei-Jin as far as you can throw them". i.e., you were an idiot for not being racist enough. Like, I can understand the general theme of "trust no one", since it permeates through the whole game, but to literally introduce a faction of "conniving foreigners" who everyone hates, and then to have that hate be perfectly justified just feels boring, hateful, and honestly like a waste of a third of what was otherwise a great, great game.
Anyway. The game is good. Great, even! It's really hard to make an ImSim, so even though the last third has some rough (ROUGH) design flaws and bugs, I'm happy to look past that. However, it's really easy to not just put Chinese people in your game and make them evil stereotypes that everyone rightfully hates, so that's harder to look past.
I would say the ideal way to experience the game is to marathon the first chapter up to downtown, play less and less frequently from downtown up until the end of hollywood or so, and gradually lose interest around the time that you're asked to go to Chinatown. I think if you did that, you'd end up remembering the game very fondly.
