Tell me about your childhood imaginary friend.

I never really had an imaginary friend. I mean, I remember being annoyed at my shadow for copying everything I do, but I don't think that counts.

I actually didn't have any friend untill I went to school. I was always okay playing by my self.

Though I do remember making little scenarios in my head while playing on the playground; one of them being me as Harley Quinn trapped in jail while Joker saves me (I was obsessed with Harley Quinn as a kid, okay..)

What is your go-to way to fall asleep?

If you had to change your name, what would it be, and why? (In tandem, if you have changed your name, why did you pick that one?)

I'd like to pick a name that sounds nice in most languages, since mine doesn't.

Maybe something like Eleanora with Nora as a nickname.

What is your favorite of Redacted’s audios, and why?

I can't pick one so I'll say "holiday decorating with your boyfriend but he's a chaotic mess" and "listening in on your crush's thoughts". These are the audios that really made me smile like an idiot. They don't really have anything to do with the plot yet they're still my favourite.

What Redacted boy holds no appeal to you, and why? Like, not the one you hate but the one who you don’t get the hype for. (I won’t judge, I promise.)

Hot take but...David. It's just...idk man, I usually like the tsundere type put sometimes I feel like David is too rude. I enjoyed his first audio but the rest...idk man. I like angel a lot tho. I myself a lot in them, but David is definitely not the type I'd go for. I'd probably feel really annoying and unloved with a guy like him 🤷‍♀️

"The spy next door". I watched it waaaaaay too many times as a kid and I sometimes still do.

I can get what you mean about David being “too rude”; in contrast, Aaron’s certain brand of tsundere reads more playful? One, that last line is very tsundere-core, that sentiment of “I don’t need the world to know or see me as long as I have you”. Two, this song is such a classic, and it matches the alt, rock, grunge vibe that Aaron gives me. I think he likes this song and genre a lot.

This one ended up being longer than I planned for it to be XD But it was very fun to write, so I hope you enjoy these twisted demons as much as I do!

“YOU FUCKING WHAT?” Anti went to lunge at you, but Dark stopped him. Anti fought, and thrashed at him, as electricity emanated from his body. “LET ME GO!” Dark had his arm wrapped around Anti to prevent him from doing anything rash. You were grateful for that, but it was still terrifying.

“Anti. Calm down.” Dark’s words were TOO calm. It only served to make you more afraid…something was seriously wrong here. Dark’s aura was everywhere, and you felt his energy. Angry, sad, but composed nonetheless. Then it shifted into something…different. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but it was quite frankly terrifying.

“I-I’m sorry…I want to go home. Now.” You said, trying not to show how completely anxious you were at that moment. Would they even let you go home? What was waiting for you when you got there? You weren’t even sure how long it had been…was your boyfriend worried about where you were? Surely it had been at least a few days.

“If that’s what you wish.” You looked up to Dark to see him smiling. A guarded smile, trying to hide his real feelings from you. What was even more concerning, was how Anti stopped fighting Dark to glare. As they shared a look, something clicked and Anti stopped fighting altogether. “I will grab your things, and you’ll be back to…your boyfriend.” He nearly spat the word.

Anti walked a few paces, then completely disappeared. But you were more excited than anything. You could go home! You missed your boyfriend so much…but you barely had time to think about it with how crazy and chaotic this whole situation was. They were…really gonna let you go? After all this, they were going to send you back home? It didn’t click right, but you had hoped it would be fine.

Dark walked closer, and he looked a little TOO composed. You kind of crushed his heart…you felt bad initially, but you loved your boyfriend. All you could do was hope Dark and Anti would understand. Your time with them…has been hit or miss. They’re angry, they’re excited, they’re quiet, they're loud. You never knew what you were getting yourself into with them. To think they’d be livid was no far stretch, but if it meant you could go home…then you’d deal with the confusion and guilt. It’ll be okay!

When Anti returned seconds later, he tossed the few belongings you had here at your feet. Dark looked irritated at the action, but walked up to carry those belongings to you. A scoff from Anti, as you stood there confused and maybe even a little nervous, while the two displayed their opposite personalities. One being collected, the other…being completely unpredictable.

However the second you blinked after picking up your belongings, you woke up at home. This was it! You were really home! The excitement was overwhelming. You really hope you didn’t lose your job from being gone so long…and hopefully J wasn’t mad if you weren’t answering his calls or texts. Speaking of which, your phone was ringing while it charged next to your bed.

You jumped up to grab it, and smiled wide when you saw J’s name pop up. He was calling you! It seemed like it had been weeks at least since you talked to him. Even a little giggle left when you answered the phone. “Baby! Oh my god I’m so sorry, I missed you so much!” You couldn’t help but laugh, especially when he laughed too.

“What are you sorry for? We talked last night right before bed!” He laughed again, and said back, “Though I also missed you too! One day we’ll be able to live together and spend every single morning waking up, cuddling in bed.” J sighed happily at the thought, but you were too confused to reply just yet.

“Last…night?” You frantically checked your phone. He was right. It had only been one night's rest since you went to the void…since you saw Dark and Anti. It couldn’t have been a dream…you remembered everything so vividly. “Uh, sorry. I’m just being a bit silly…” You let out a nervous laugh, and hoped he’d drop it.

“You don’t sound so good, want me to come over?” He sounded as concerned as ever, “If something’s going on you can tell me.” You could practically hear the worry in his voice, and the pleading eyes of him that always convinced you to tell him anything and everything. “It’s okay. I’ll come over anyways, I can make you breakfast and we can talk about it!”

With that he ended the call, and you didn’t know if you should be relieved or nervous. How could you possibly tell him? That those two demons held you captive and wanted to court you? Both being terrifying in their own ways? There was no way to logically explain it, and J wasn’t one to believe in demons and that kind of stuff. You didn’t necessarily believe either, at least…not as much as you believed now.

You sat and waited, knowing he wouldn’t be too long. Trying to think of a way to explain it without sounding crazy proved to be difficult…but you couldn’t lie to him. You loved him, but if he said something like what you had to tell him, you wouldn’t know what to say or do either. Maybe it was just a dream…a really weird one that made you feel helpless. What if they were real and tried to come after you for turning them both down?

With a knock at your door, you ran up to it and swung it open excited to see J after so long of being held by those demons. Even if for him, it had only been a few hours. You had a smile on your face, and were fully prepared to tackle him to the ground right there in your doorway. However what you saw, you never could have been prepared for.

Dark and Anti were there, with Anti holding J tightly around the back of his neck. J looked awful, blood dripping from his nose and forehead, and bruises covering his arms. It made you take a step back in shock and terror. That feeling only intensified when you saw the wicked grin on Anti’s face. If you had any doubts he was a demon, they were laid to rest. It was hard to believe anyone or anything can look so…wistfully happy and evil having hurt someone.

“W-What are you doing!? Don’t hurt him, please!” Tears fell down your face, and Anti looked angry as can be, hearing your words. You didn’t want this! You loved J, was it even really him that you talked to on the phone? Or was it a trick from these demons? Part of you hoped it was the real J, but you couldn’t be too sure. Not at all.

“Just proving a point, darling.” Dark spoke, with a small smile on his face. But even his smile was warped and twisted. It might have been warm in any other circumstance. But the two of them had hurt your boyfriend. The man you loved so dearly. “We told you, no one can protect you better than us.”

You backed up further and further, until your back hit the couch in the living room. “Stop…please…” Was all you could say as they threw J down to the ground in front of you. He couldn’t even speak, with his busted lip and glazed over eyes. He was still alive, his grunts of pain and labored breathing proved that. “J!” You screamed and almost went to kneel down and help him, but one look from the demons stopped you.

“Anti.” Dark said, and gave the other demon a look. You couldn’t decipher it, but when Anti smirked it meant nothing good. “Go ahead.” He continued. Go ahead with what? Something told you neither you, or J would make it out of this safely.

Anti made direct eye contact with you, with that evil smirk on his face. He pointed one singular finger towards J, in the shape of a gun. He let out a “bang” sound and a ray of lightning shot at J’s head, causing it to burst open. The blood splattered all over your room, and your own clothes and skin. It all happened so fast, and you fell to the ground screaming. You had to look away, the sight too gruesome to even look at for half a second more.

Anti came closer and picked you up roughly, “It’s either me or him.” He whispered in your ear. “No one else is allowed to be with you like that.” He rubbed your back, but it was anything but soothing. “You’re coming with us, you have to make your decision.” He chuckled, and you just continued to scream and sob.

Dark approached, but you could barely see him or Anti through your tears. “You don’t need to make your decision now, we still need to spend more time with you.” He reached over and put a hand on your head. You flinched at the action, and he frowned. “No one will ever hurt you. That’s our promise to you.”

No one would hurt you…how messed up is that? They may not physically hurt you, but you were in turmoil. You didn’t want to accept that J was dead. Even if they didn’t ever physically hurt you, they just proved that they’d hurt anyone who was special to you. With that thought, you had no choice but to go with them. If they could kill J, they could kill anyone else in your life. You couldn’t live with that…

You became emotionless, and simply nodded. “Okay…” was all you said. It made them smile, but you felt…nothing. Only small traces of fear. They would take you back to the castles, and “protect” you as they put it. But all you wanted was to be in J’s arms again. Kiss him, hug him, anything. But he was gone.

And he was never coming back.

Ruins of the Mad King Pt.3 - The Pawns

What D&D game is complete without the main characters? This game has six players altogether, all except one of whom were the players of the first game as well. They’re credited with their characters, as well as having small descriptions of the characters themselves.

Dover Yenwrick - Emmett (@salmonandsoup on tumblr/twitter/insta)

Neutral good goliath, aberrant mind sorcerer/watchers paladin Dover is a goliath from the frozen mountain ranges of Bruyc Sharia, belonging to his nomadic family the Yenwricks. When Dover was ten, his family found and adopted a little aasimar girl named Zaharel, who was lost and half-dead in the woods. The two became the closest of friends, true brother and sister, and she was there for him throughout years of abuse at the hands of his step-aunt under the guise of therapy. When Dover was 15, he was attacked by a wild boar during a hunt-- he nearly died, but woke his innate magical capabilities at the same time. Zaharel was there to heal him, though his face was forever scarred, but she left soon after, claiming to be searching for a labyrinth that haunted her dreams and what she believed to be Mortos within. Time passed and the two were reunited; Dover as a butcher of animals, and Zaharel as The Right Hand of Mortos. He joined the Church at her behest, working under her and doing her dirty work as the inquisition took charge. Now he hunts a cult leader that fled Bruyc Sharia, intent on taking Edran Trist's life no matter what.

Chaotic neutral tiefling, wild card rogue Juno is a tiefling originally raised in the Hells with his twin, Jynkalkus (Jynx), by their incubus father, Dharlynx, and multiple succubus aunts. Though they shared as happy a childhood as one could have in the Hells, Dharlynx decided to leave the twins to experience life and grow in the mortal world. When they were fifteen, the twins were left to fend for themselves in Edsemara, Pru Shain-- lucky for them, both the twins have always had an affinity for thievery. After a few years of living on the streets, the twins joined the criminal organization The Faceless Ones, in which Jynx started climbing the ranks while Juno engaged in a life of hedonism and debauchery. It came as a surprise to him when Jynx killed the leader of The Faceless Ones and took his place, taking Juno with them as one of their closest employees. Now he works cases for his boss The Red Death, currently on the mission of locating a runaway.

Neutral good drow, drakewarden ranger Edran Trist (or Fenian, to those who don't know him) is a man on the run. Raised in the Followers of the Lost Eye, a cult in the countryside of Bruyc Sharia dedicated to the worship and return of the Broken One, led by his parents. When he was a small child he was gifted the egg of a bismuth dragon, which hatched into Edran's companion (and now boyfriend), Enniarth (Enni). When he was nine years old his mother put him through a ritual in which his eye was taken, and accidentally instilled a dream of running away one day. Years later he finally got his chance, escaping the cult with Enni and fleeing south into Allismoor. Now he is hunted both by his family and the agents of the Church of Mortos, who aim to kill him for his unwanted fate of taking over the Cult of the Lost Eye one day.

Chaotic neutral aasimar, vengeance paladin Argus is someone who has always known life to be a fight. He grew up on the dangerous streets of Andabria, the capital city of Allismoor, as an orphan who was forced to a life of crime in order to survive. It was when he was ten that he met Augi Brightforge, the captain of the royal guard, who saw promise in this young boy and adopted him as his son. As Argus was trained in the order of knights that served King Faustus, he grew close with the four royal children and even ended up getting a childhood crush on Faustus' daughter and heir, Clytemnestra. He was 18 when the rebellion happened, which resulted in the deaths of the royal children he had grown up with; deaths at the hands of the riots for Clytemnestra and her brother, while the other two were beheaded next to their father at the hands of Augi's close friend, Desius Sanga. After Augi was killed soon after by Sanga on a false charge of treason, Argus fled and started living on the streets once again. It was there he got word of a new, growing rebellion against the new tyrant, called the Order of the Radiant Wolf, and quickly committed himself to their cause.

True neutral yuan-ti, life cleric Vineeta was once on the run. She was raised for a short time in Edsemara, Pru Shain with a number of other orphans, until she met a man known as Albion Arant. Albion was a man of infamy, it being well known that he was the founder and leader of a feared criminal organization known as the Faceless Ones. She was adopted by Arant, who took a liking to her spunky personality-- or saw a worthy challenge in breaking her. From then on she was raised not as his daughter, but as his tool. She gained the title of The Scaled Reaper, a feared assassin working for the Faceless Ones, and exceled in her work. Because of her close relationship to Arant, when Jynkalkus committed their coup Vineeta was marked as one of Arant's supporters and an attempt on her life was made. She managed to escape into the desert as she bled out, luckily being saved by a nomadic healer named Heveria, who nursed Vineeta back to health and offered her refuge from those who would try to hurt her. Vineeta lived with Heveria for a few years, learning the trade of being a cleric, before heading out on her own to try and help others like Heveria once helped her.

Fylson Zylven - Lance (Not on any social media)

Chaotic good gnome, satire bard Fylson has lived a long life. Born before the apocalypse, he's traveled the globe as an adventurer, a bard, and a jester. His time of adventuring was relatively short lived, after which he started seeking employment for his musical prowess. He found his first job in a royal court at the behest of a young Clemara Cleo, still a princess and yet to ascend to the title of Storm Queen. She took him on countless dangerous adventures on the waves, both as her bard and as her friend. After an incident where he died to a sea serpent but was brought bac after the young girl killed it he took his leave of her employment, instead traveling inland. This was just in time, for the apocalypse struck not soon after. He survived when so many didn't, continuing his endless journey, until after a number of years he found himself as the court jester in King Faustus' court. There he met his wife, a half-orc woman named Tamraghi who worked in the royal guard under Augi Brightforge. There he was happy for near a decade, until the rebellion formed. He thought that he had been marked as a sympathizer of the king and for such a crime, was to be killed-- except he didn't realize Tamraghi was part of the rebellion, and was safe because of that. He fled without a word to his wife, after which his paranoia caused him to spiral. He sent her the documents for divorce before continuing on his journey, without ever looking back (or so he would like to say).

With these six, the pieces are laid out and the play set to begin. Though they may not realize it at first, all stray souls meeting for a night out of pure coincidence, the eyes that have turned on them will not let them leave as easily as they might like. They can only hope that all turns out in the mortal’s favor on the gamble they’ll be shoved into.

Dropping my DCLA post-canon Christmas hcs in the middle of february because I saw a TikTok and got inspired

In the Castillo household, it’s obviously gonna be Germán, Vilu, Ludmila, maybe Fede is there, maybe he went back to Italy, who knows, Angie, Ramallo and Olga cause they’re always there, Fran shows up at some point because she didn’t get a flight to Italy in time, Olga bans anyone from entering the kitchen for the whole day because she takes holiday food very seriously, but Angie goes in anyways, and they keep gossiping about who knows what, secret Santa is as chaotic as your imagination allows, and the food is the prettiest thing you’ve ever seen, until Germán starts serving Vilu, Olga almost cries

Obviously in the Benson mansion there’s the Valentes, Ámbar, not Alfredo because he’s travelling, or dead, and also I don’t like him, depending on what type of scene you’re looking for Sharon got permission to go home for the holiday, since couldn’t afford tickets to Mexico, and refused both Ámbar’s and Luna’s offers to buy them for him, Simón is there too, trying to escape holidays with his extended family and his dad’s overbearing attempts to mend their relationship, Matteo is also there, dinner is obviously on Monica, with Simón, Miguel and Luna taking turns going into the kitchen to try and sneak a bite, she catches them every time, and when she doesn’t, Ámbar does, and they have to wear a santa hat with “Shame” written on the front, Matteo’s puts Luna wearing it and pouting as his lockscreen, Rey and Maggie show up for dinner, having been released from their court mandated community service, Matteo, the idiot, suggests lighting a fire, because that’s what they did back in Italy, the Valentes, Ámbar and Simón glare at him for the rest of the night, and every time he tries being affectionate to Luna, she walks away and goes to Simón instead, leaving Ámbar even more mad at him, as her boyfriend is too busy performing best friend duties to cuddle with her

In my ideal world, Antonio goes to jail (or gets run over by a car, because that would be ironic) and so Paula makes ammends with the Urquizas and they decide to have a joint Christmas party to celebrate that, Victor is still back in Spain because I’m mad at him, so it’s Paula, Alex and Manuel, Alice, Mariano, Helena and Bia, Helena invites Thiago since he doesn’t exactly have a family to celebrate with, Paula all but demands Carmín comes, they also invite Pietro so he doesn’t have to eat alone with his cousin (they wanted him to cook for them), and since it’s already a lot of people, and the residency is pretty empty with the other guys having gone home to the families, Thiago invites everyone to go there instead, Pietro is happy to cook in his own kitchen, the night ends with the Urquiza sisters singing a Christmas song by the piano, everyone joins in, and when the time to say goodbye comes, Thiago forbids anyone from leaving, since it’s very late and they’re all tired from having eaten so much, and we all know what happens when you drive late at night, so everyone who doesn’t live there ends up sleeping in one of the spare bedrooms, and the ones who do, sleep in their own rooms

• Landon grew up in a rundown neighbourhood in southside Chicago. His parents were never married and had split before he was of an age he could even remember. He has one sister, three years his younger. Landon remained living with his mother until he was fifteen and she got a new boyfriend who Landon couldn’t stand.

• Up until this point he had been a pretty good kid, with good grades and a promising future. But when he moved in with his dad, things changed. His father was a well-known big-time drug dealer, and it wasn’t long before Landon started working for him. It started off simple, being a driver when his dad went to collect unpaid debts. But soon he started selling for him too— mostly just weed and cocaine, but occasionally something stronger. Quickly, life began to get a little more chaotic. And his grades began to slip.

• Freshly eighteen and weeks away from graduating (barley), Landon discovered bruises on his younger sister, and soon discovered that his step-dad was the culprit. Filled with rage, Landon confronted the other and the night ended with Landon being hauled into the back of a police car. The severity of his actions resulted in him being incarcerated for a 56 month period for aggravated battery. Sadly, this wouldn’t be the last time.

• With no formal high school education, he saw no other option than to continue working for his father. This continued up until the age of 25, when he was again arrested, this time for class A d**g possession ( he was holding it for his father. ). During his stint in prison he did all that he could to build on his skill, and upon leaving he found work as a mechanic though on the side took on some jobs as a getaway driver to earn as much money as he could to start over. This however only lasted a few months, before he decided he wanted away from crime altogether. It had never been his intended path in the first place.

• At the age of 32, he’d be arrested one final time, due to a bar fight that he unexpectedly got caught up in and blamed for due to his previous record. He only got released two months ago and is determined to keep himself away from trouble, but when it runs in your blood it’s not always easy. He’s moved to Denver to live with his cousin in hopes of finally having that fesh start. He can only hope it will go the way he’s planned.

HEADCANNONS

• Landon’s first sentence was 54 months, his second was 4 years of which he only ended up serving 3 for good behaviour. His third was only 6 months. Landon by no means had it easy in prison, but he also had a certain level of protection due to his father being known (though for the most part he kept to himself.) Nothing too bad happened to him, a few fights here and there the first time around but that was the extent of it. However one thing that has always stuck with him from his second stint was coming back to his cell to find that his cell-mate had managed to unalive himself. This still haunts him.

• drinks and smokes but despite previously selling them, he’s never touched a drug a day in his life. he’s never really had any desire to. he definitely has a lot of regret about selling, but will just insist it was their choice to take it.

• he also doesn’t enjoy fighting. he doesn’t actively seek it out, he’s just easily triggered by assholes. and he does get a thrill out of giving someone a taste of their own medicine.

• discovered a love for reading during his stints in prison.

• sadly he doesn’t speak to his mother anymore. he would like to, but she chose to stand by her husband. his sister seems to be doing well for herself and they’re in constant contact. he’s still as protective over her as he ever was, and despite the way his life turned out he would do the same thing if he had the opportunity to go back.

• is still close with his father, though feels it’s best to keep his distance as he is still heavily linked to the criminal world and landon is aware that it’s not good for him to be in the same proximity.

• landon is a very skilled driver. it’s a natural skill for him, always has been. he can very easily get out of sticky situations if driving is involved.

• it takes a lot for him to be loyal to someone, but once he is he is loyal to a fault. once he decides to have your back, he’s got it forever (even if he insists he doesn’t.)

His sister — I’ll eventually get around to putting this as a wc on the main. But this is by far the most important relationship in his life, and her thriving makes it all worth it to him.

28. Marked by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Re-Read in February 2023: Sometimes I have the weird urge to re-read some past books I've enjoyed. I think in this instance I wanted to remember the mood of this one since the setting is so comfortable (a boarding school setting has always been a kryptonite trope for me). I read this during the heart of my reading slump, so sometimes something familiar helps. I didn't think this was groundbreaking, but it's a fun read. I'm still weirded out by that scene in the hallway near the beginning. I was also reminded of the influence this book had on so many other YA paranormal novels of the time. I never finished this series and I don't know if I ever will, but I will probably end up re-reading this again some day in the future.

29. Princess in Training by Meg Cabot--⭐️⭐️

I read this one a couple of months ago and I'm not going to lie, I had to look back on what this one was about. This was the book in the series where the topic of sex was introduced. Not only does Mia need to have a s0lid talk about sex and what it could entail, but Michael also needs to have that talk with a professional. I had the ick at the beginning of this series over the fact that Michael was eighteen when he started dating a fourteen year-old Mia, but the ick increased when he low-key started pressuring Mia into having sex with him. "I won't wait around forever" and then her having to bargain with him about re-exploring the topic two months (or whatever) later. "There's only so many cold showers a guy can take." Yeah, Michael. Sounds like a YOU problem. A little worrisome that this, back then or even now, could be a teen or middle grade's first encounter with sex and the expectations that couples could have regarding sex. Mia's age was evident in this one and her naïveté is very loud. I think this book also helps to take the mystique away from Michael being this incredible and aware boyfriend, especially because of that age gap. Also, still extremely dislike Lilly at this point.

30. This Winter by Alice Oseman--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love this couple so much that it makes me goopy. This novella was such a touching read that I think should serve to remind others of the complicated relationships we might have with our parents, and the pressures we sometimes feel to live up to the expectations of others. I think this was also a great exploration of the complexities of mental health, especially how we both see ourselves and how we perceive our families see us. I also loved the level of support that Nick and Charlie give each other. They're just so wholesome and I want nothing but the best for them.

31. Katzenjammer by Francesca Zappia--⭐️⭐️⭐️

Writing these reviews weeks after having read the books isn't great for my memory, but I remember this one being very unique and horrifying. There was a lot of emotion in here, especially as the mystery is slowly solved and the twist creeps up on us. The magical realism of the story took me a while to get used to, but there was a reason behind it all and when it starts to make sense, that's when the reader's heart starts to break.

32. Party Princess by Meg Cabot--⭐️⭐️

I don't know if I'm jaded because I'm writing these reviews so much later after reading the books, but I remember this one feeling...pointless? Perhaps the main good thing about this is that we get introduced to a character who will challenge the Mia and Michael relationship. I think Mia, at this point, needed a moment to just grow as a character. She is very young and it shows in her actions, worries, and decisions. And again, Lilly is still a bitch.

33. Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Re-read in 2023:

This is just a traditional re-read at this point. I don't know what it is about this chaotic and problematic series that I love so much. But I am absolute trash for this couple. Every time I read it, it's like I'm experiencing it all for the first time--including the moments that make me want to cry. Love, love, love. It also needs to be noted that this is my go-to when I am in a massive reading slump, which I am still trying to recover from currently (writing this review in April 2023.)

All the Liquors - Eps 1 & 2 Drunk Thoughts

Here me out. I’m gonna get drunk while watching this show that heavily features and see what that does to the experience. For science. Also to get rid of some of my wine. I am but one tiny person who barely drinks. Why do I have so much wine? Also I am writing this little intro before actually getting drunk and watching. I need to make sure that at least part of this is coherent. Though I will let y’all in on a little secret, people have a hard time knowing when I’m drunk texting because I proofread everything I ever type so much due to my perfectionism. I’m trying to be better about it though so who knows what’s going to happen. Drunk thoughts start now:

-I’m now inebriated and I have my honey roasted cashews. Time to goooooooooooooooooo

-They are festive. Look at them.

-Sitting closer to the tv just means I need to turn down the brightness it does not helpful for reading the captions. Who designed this I want words.

-Ew a break up. Who would break up with that little cutie. Look at that face. Don’t worry baby you’ll find better. Look at you and how sweet you are. Come here, I’ll give you some wine and ice cream - I HAVE ICE CREAM. What a wonderful drunken revelation.

-Who goes to a cafe for beer? That looks like a place that serves cafe. Wait no. Coffee.

-He’s using his breakup as an excuse to drink and it turns out, so am I. Using his breakup I mean. I haven’t broken up with anyone. The day I stop being single is the day the world breaks out into another crisis. I’m not saying it’s related but the last time I got a serious boyfriend, covid struck.

-Those are the tiniest trash bags I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Maybe my back wouldn’t hurt so bad if my trash bags were that small. It is a hike to my dumpsters. I gotta walk through a restaurant

-These people just be fallin in these shows.

-Aw they provided him a safe place to be passed out. There’s a reason I only drink at home.

-THEY’RE ALL CUTIES

-”Is he pure or dumb?” you know I get that question a lot.

-He got really angry for someone asking about alcohol. Though he makes a good point. My dude did just pass out drunk and then immediately ask for more. My guy, methinks you might have a problem.

-Why these girls so mean? If they didn’t have that stick up their ass they’d be so pretty. Look at them being so pretty. Pretty and petty. I love the way he handled them though. Like y’all it’s so easy to just go somewhere else that can accommodate you. Good god.

-Why does everyone and their brother want this man to provide them alcohol? Just order what’s on the menu.

-Oh what a heckin dick. She’s just going to post that she ignored the restaurant’s policies and blame it on the restaurant? She’s no longer pretty in the slightest. Go get drunk elsewhere you absolute dillwank. There are other restaurants in Korea.

-I’m actually obsessed with this opening. I love it so much. Cannot explain.

-Starting episode 2 now. And you know. I’m starting to think this boy might have a problem. Wait I think I might have said that earlier.

-Chef: ”I’m going to quit cooking.” Me: “You’re going to stop cooking? How you gonna eat?...oh wait.”

-This show was right. All the liquors. One day I will try soju. It’s on my list of alcohols to try. I don’t have very many on the list. Anyone care to guess my favorite liquor? It’s rum. But only because I don’t think sake counts as liquor. But I’m not all that knowledgeable about alcohol.

-This show from the tsundere chefs perspective is WILD. This man shows up drunk, passes out, wakes up and asks for food and more liquor, then shows up again later with armfulls of alcohol.

-I need someone to come bring me food. Someone come bring me food please. In exchange I will give you…an unhinged and chaotic personality and also show you my favorite shows.

-OH MY GOD IT’S COME FULL CIRCLE. His friend is telling him to ask that chef.

-I cannot express enough how much I need that man’s cardigan. I need it more than words can express.

-I’m not wearing my glasses and for a second I thought that said “Restaurant Good.” Would you believe I’ve been to a restaurant called Good before? And that it is, in fact, good. They weren’t just saying shit. Delicious. Now I want to go back but it’s too far.

-Cuties ABOUND.

-But whyyyy does he not want alcohol? I mean I get it and I respect his decision. But his love interest is currently an alcoholic.

-OH MY GOD HIS ARM. HE OKAY????????

The Eggpire, and why they are the coolest villain group in the SMP

The Eggpire is personally one of my favorite groups of people on the entire smp. The Eggpire I’m currently referring to consists of Ponk, Bad, Antfrost, Punz, and Skeppy. They’re the ones who are clearly working for the Crimson, and are generally percieved by others in the SMP as corrupted.

Part of why I love them so much is their clear alignment. They are perhaps the most obvious ‘villains’ in the current season. There’s no moral greyness with them, only the tragedy of the consumed as they serve their master. They’re predictable, and you can tell others view them as a threat. Don’t break the vines, don’t disrespect the egg, avoid them at all cost.

The Eggpire is also currently winning in the “group” part of “group dynamic”. There are other alliances on the SMP, but it has been a while since one solid group of people were working together to defend or protect something. Even in the Doomsday War the defenders of L’Manburg were conflicted--Niki burned the tree herself, Eret was working with people who he had betrayed once before, Punz was an active spy. The Eggpire has a solid foundation of people working together, and their internal workings are interesting. Every member has their own specific role.

Badboyhalo, the Corrupter

Bad, despite what he says about there being no hierarchy within the Eggpire, calls all the shots. He is the largest threat and the start of the Crimson’s spread. He found the Egg, brought others to it, protected it when the vines first began to surface. He takes the most active role in the corruption of others and trying to further the Eggpire’s goals. He’s one of the main three fighters in the Eggpire, and the other two tend to follow his lead and let him speak.

Bad being a demonic creature himself adds an extra layer of awesome to his character. While he was uncorrupted his soul jar (Skeppy) was taken by the Egg, and the...bathwater stream happened. That was a hot mess, HOWEVER, afterwards it actually became kind of cool. Bad saying that “no matter what he could do, he couldn’t fix Skeppy”, implies that his character is in fact capable of magic and was trying, over and over, to return his best friend to who he was originally and kept messing up. Only after his actions failed did he willingly corrupt himself and become the main villain of the Egg arc.

Antfrost, the Caretaker

Antfrost...I absolutely adore corrupted!Antfrost. He was the first person, after Bad, to become attached to the Egg. He was ruthless before he was turned--he even suggested killing Skeppy in order to remove the corruption from him. Now he’s actively serving an eldrich abomination. He follows Bad around silently and writes messages to people in languages they can’t understand. He’s a “professional hunter” (that scene gave me chills) and Bad’s righthand man.

Before the Crimson Antfrost ran an animal sanctuary. He’s still keeping an eye on the animals, but now most of his attention seems to have transferred to the Egg. He seems to have the most active affection for the egg, making sure to feed it and even kissing it once. The aesthetic of a chaotic evil catboy in a nice suit who has no moral compass but does have an undeniable fondness for the Bloodvines growing everywhere is just... *chefs kiss*

Punz, the Guard

Punz, as a character is very well done. He’s been one of the most chill on the server for a while, only actively involving himself in conflicts when A) one of his pets has died, or B) Dream told him to. He’s loyal; once he has a directive he will accomplish it. Dream himself knew if he hired Punz to guard L’Manburg, Punz would guard L’Manburg and kill anyone who left the walls for as long as Dream wanted him to.

Now Punz is guarding the Egg itself. He isn’t as actively threatening as Bad and Ant--he was able to have a completely normal conversation with Tommy, for example, while Tommy is actively terrified of Bad and Ant. Punz is only a danger when he’s called to be, otherwise he’s just a chill guy who doesn’t seem concerned that he has red eyes, or that the thing he’s working for is actively spreading across the entire server.

Ponk, the Voice

Ponk spent a lot of time around the Egg. He even planted a seed in his own casino, named it, and yet managed to turn it into something else. He was left on top of it for days, and came out completely unscathed. He originally began working with the Eggpire purely for pain au’ chocolate and bought contacts from Amazon in order to blend in with them. He doesn’t give a shit.

Correction: he didn’t give a shit until his boyfriend cheated on him. Ponk got corrupted purely out of spite and facilitated the beginning of a war between the Egg and the server’s local builder god. He’s a semi-psychic amputee and the caretaker of a graveyard. He has the most unique interaction with the Egg.

Skeppy, the Heart

Skeppy is Badboyhalo’s living soul jar and probably the most wholly corrupted in the entire server. He spent an entire day inside the Egg and came out with no desires except for it. We’ve seen him the least out of every Eggpire member, but he’s had the most effect on the plot. He’s the Crimson’s leverage over Badboyhalo. If being logged out means a character is canonically asleep, then Skeppy has been sleeping for months. Practically in a coma, until the Egg needs him.

cc!Skeppy says that they have more planned for his character, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing what will happen when the Egg decides it needs him. He was probably the weakest Eggpire member, but who knows what he’s capable of now?

The Crimson Itself:

The Crimson is a problem you can’t get rid of. The bloodvines spread without anyone being near them; they grow back as soon as they’ve been cut. Just hurting the Egg can kill you, although they retconned Sam’s death due to Crimson damage. To quote Badboyhalo: “If you break the Egg, it bites you back.”

The absolute coolest thing about the entire Egg arc, in my opinion, is how hard it is to keep an eye on the big picture. We as viewers get wrapped up in what’s happening right now. Hannah was trapped in the Egg, now she’s escaped. There were vines in Sam’s base, now they were broken. The Eggpire attacked Foolish’s base, then he scared them away. Then you pull back and remember, it is just a an egg. We have no idea what its plans are, or what it’s capable of. Someday comes the Red Banquet, and that’s when the real storm breaks.

The wedding ended when the security guards come to kick out Jesper and Nina after they broke a couple of tables and smashed a couple of glasses. Nikolai doesn’t want it to end he’s having fun and Zoya looks like she’s ready to murder the entire world

You hadn’t been in training camp for the first day, you had been running errands to get the barbeque on the way, one that has been planned a few days in advance. So, when you actually returned to help out, watermelons were being served and whilst you were the only Nekoma’s manager, you managed to find the rest of the managers who welcomed you with open arms. You had met Karasuno’s manager before, the pretty third year, but you said hi to the new manager.

“Kenma!” You called out, the short boy perked up to hear your voice, “Watermelon?”

“Yeah, thanks,” His voice was soft, a smile appeared, “The team has been chaotic without you, especially Tora.”

“It’s Kiyoko, isn’t it?”

Kenma nodded, “Kuro is over there, by the way, he’s getting on my nerves.”

“When is he not annoying?” You sighed, “I’ll check up on him later, how have you been, Kenma?”

You like keeping Kenma company, he’s quiet but smart - he takes a liking to you and approves of you dating his best friend. You were a nice balance to his personality. And you have a good sense of the sport, after all, you used to play with the team. In fact, you were going to be ace of the team, until there was an accident where your knee was no longer at top shape and forced to quit volleyball. Luckily, Nekoma team allowed you to be a manager because you were able to help with training and exercise.

Sometimes, Tora gets guilty to take your spot on the team, but you always reassure him that he did nothing wrong. It wasn’t his fault that floor was slippery, and when you were going for a receive you fell wrong - shattering your kneecap.

You were so busy during the day that the only time you could see your boyfriend was after training was done and it was personal training. You hummed, a little limp to your walk as you look for Kuroo. You stumbled to hear Kuroo’s laughter ringing from gym three.

You poked your head through and was spotted by the Russian.

“(Y/N)!”

Kuroo snapped his head, mid-block, getting a spike to the side of his face from Akaashi.

“LEV!” Kuroo shouted, rubbing his face.

“Are you okay, Kuroo?” Akaashi asked softly as the middle blocked nodded, waving him off.

Kuroo turned to look at you, waving his hand, a glint of excitement and happiness in his eyes, “Hey!”

“Sorry to interrupt.”

You knew some faces, you’ve heard names thrown about in team chat. You were able to meet Kiyoko before the practice game between yours and her school before dipping out before you could meet Karasuno’s team because you were visiting your grandma, who lived in Miyagi. You often get lost in the crowd by Fukurōdani Academy’s setter and ace.

Bokuto not paying attention much and Akaashi’s attention always being on his ace. So, they would never glance your way unless there was something happening with you.

You entered the gym with a welcoming smile, “Hey guys.”

“Baby!” Kuroo ran to you, giving you a massive hug, “I’ve missed you.”

“I was gone for a day and a half.”

“Too long-” Kuroo whined as you chuckled, rubbing his hair, attempting to flatten it down.

“Erm, Kuroo, who’s this?” Bokuto asked as you tilt yourself to the side to look at him.

“Oh, I’m (L/n) (Y/n)! I’m Kuroo’s boyfriend and Nekoma’s manager.” You say, waving lightly with a cat Captain latching onto you, as he pouts, “Nice to meet you.”

“I know you, (L/n),” Akaashi says, looking at you, “I heard you had an accident, you were playing for Nekoma.”

You shrugged your shoulders, “Can’t do much about it now.”

“Wait you can’t play?” Bokuto pouts at you, “That must suck!”

“Well, yeah, but I don’t mind helping out with techniques, I’ve got good game sense.” Akaashi nods, smiling a little, “I’ve heard the two of you. Bokuto Kotaro and his setter - Akaashi Keiji of Fukurōdani Academy.”

“Hell yeah! You’re pretty cool to be Tetsuro’s boyfriends.”

“Bo-!” Kuroo shouted at his companion, the owl smirked in his enjoyment to pick fun at the cat.

“Anyway, you two?” You look at the two other people.

“I’m Hinata Shoyo!” The small ginger-haired boy, jumped up, “What position did you play?”

“You can’t ask that,” The tall blond boy sneered, looking down at you with his glasses, “I’m Tsukishima.”

“It’s okay, Tsukishima, I don’t mind,” You say, at least the blond boy had some manners to him, “I played wing spiker.”

“And almost the ace for the team,” Kuroo boasted, “Unfortunately-”

“I shattered my kneecaps.”

Everyone in the gym except you and Kuroo had cringed at the accident. You lifted your sweatpants to see the scar from surgery. Bokuto wanted to get to you closer so he could give it a good admirable stare, but Akaashi had tugged the back of his shirt to pull him back.

“Hey, if you ever get annoyed with this piece of work,” You motion to your boyfriend, “I can always try to offer you some advice. After all, I would love to see a good game at nationals.”

You smile as you turned to your boyfriend, who was glaring at Bokuto and then sharply looking at Lev. You rolled your eyes at the captain of your team.

“I’ll see you later, you’ll be okay, right?”

“Of course,” Kuroo’s voice was drawled out, a slight tease to his tone, “Go keep Kenma company.”

“Don’t give Lev a hard time.”

“Yeah, listen to (L/n)!” Lev shouted as Kuroo growled at him, making the half-Russian flinch back.

“Play nice, kitty,” You give him a peck on the lips, “I like your friends, they’re nice.”

Your boyfriend rolls his eyes as you turn around to wave goodbye to the rest of them. Kuroo turns to watch his boyfriend walk out of the gym and head towards bedding arrangements. He looks back at the group of boys at the net.

“I like your boyfriend, Kuroo!” Hinata says, a smile never leaving his face, “He seems so cool!”

Kuroo was surprised to see Tsukishima nod in agreement. Bokuto looks even more hyped up, after your statement of wanting to witness a good game at nationals - it seems like it set off something in Bokuto, Hinata and Lev.

“Well, once you get to know him more, he’s even cooler,” Kuroo speaks highly of you.

And, well, he never wrong on a person’s personality.

March 2021 Part 4

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.

This is a LONG ONE, it’s been A WEEK everyone.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Lovely Writer Ep 5 - a little slow this week, but at least Gene finally flirted back, and very cute flirting it was, too. Also we got Aey’s motivation, background, and love interest. Thank goodness for that.

Brothers Ep 8 - still pants, what can I say? Clearly I am a BL masochist. Very embarrassing for everyone concerned.

1000 Stars Ep 9 - the conflict over Tian’s father was REALLY well done. The plot of this drama is excellent, the leads are great together, and yes I totally cried. What, you didn’t?

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Word of Honor (China) Ep 16-18 - big battle fighty fighty stabby stabby. Ep 17 switches to “this drama isn’t big enough for two chaotic-neutral godlings!” So what do they do? Drink together and bicker... A LOT. Then in Ep 18 we all get the dubious joy of really freaky puppets. (I HATE puppets.) Also how is China letting this be so SO VERY VERY GAY? Also, I wanna walk through the forest wearing a smanshy purple robe and waving a big fuck-off white fan around simply because I’m a pretentious fuss monger. And frankly, I feel like this is an achievable life goal for me.

We Best Love 2 (Taiwan) Ep 4 - not gonna lie, this is looking to be one of my top 3 BLs of 2021. It’s SO GOOD. Big bonus to this ep for treating stalker behavior like the mental illness it is and not as some dumb representation of enduring love.

The Most Peaceful Place is My Place (Vietnam) Ep 1 - finally dropped (find it under NƠI BÌNH YÊN NHẤT LÀ VỀ BÊN EM on O2′s channel). It’s got actors already comfortable with BL and looks pretty good so far. An angry tsundere uke reunited with his ex, a stoic chef, giving us lots of snap, crackle, and pop out the gate.

Dear Uranus (Taiwan GL) Ep 2 - I want to love it, but it is just moving too fast. There’s not enough character dev and then they’re throwing flashbacks in? It feels like a treatment rather than a show, and a rushed treatment at that. Bummer.

HIStory 4: Close To You (Taiwan) Ep 2 (AKA Ep 3-4) - let the cheesy popcorn continue! Idiot remains an idiot; ingenue remains an ice queen; nice gay guy remains nice and gay; obsessive stalker brother is getting ever more whackadoddle. Of course these last two have the best chemistry. (It’s caregiver codependency and the salvation trope. We got us a Leo/Fiat situation going on.) Plus lots of classic BL tropes because OF COURSE there are lots of tropes.

Occasionally, I am tempted to argue that shows like H4 or Cherry Magic or Ossan’s Love aren’t technically BL because of the office setting and age of the protags - but then they all behave like high school students anyway, so *shrug*

Stand Alones

Cute little Taiwanese micro BL Friend or Lover dropped, about bisexual realization within a friendship group. Normally these are too short for me, but this one did pretty good with its 15 minutes of charm, plus it’s abad boy + shy softy pairing.

Breaking News - Thai BL

Fish Upon the Sky released its actual trailer. The upside-down kiss is gone, which makes everyone sad, and it seems far less rivals to lovers than the first iteration, which makes ME sad. But it still looks good and a more classic BL than GMMTV has given us in a while. New trailer focused more on the makeover trope and they’ve upped Mix’s role (the object of everyone’s affection) now that he’s proved himself. (Or they are using him more to carry the trailer since he has a fan base form 1k*). Starts April 9 on GMMTV in 1K*’s time slot, probably with a 10 ep run.

2gether the movie is apparently coming April 22 to Thai theaters. F4 Thailand must be having issues or GMMTV just wants to milk the BrightWin cash cow. It’s rumored to be a combination of 2gehter + Still 2gether with some extra scenes and ending. Also, one assumes a lot will be cut out, if it’s movie length.

Call It What You Want released its updated trailer. If anything, it looks more scary than before. What are we in for? April 9th.

Nitiman got a release date, May 7 on One31.

I Told Sunset About You 2 got an updated release date of May 27 on LineTV.

Second Chance the series is coming to LineTV on March 29. I don’t know much about this one. Tons of familiar faces (mostly TharnType side dishes) and some nice looking new talent but a dearth of eng subs. I think it may take on Brothers’ time slot. Line did eng subs for Brothers so maybe they will do 2nd Chance too?

Close Friend the series is coming April 22. This is a combination of 6 couples with 6 story arcs as music videos (maybe)? It’s an epic fan service with familiar faces like OhmFluke (UWMA), MaxNat (LBC also in Y-Destiny), YoonLay (YYY also in Y-Destiny), KimCop (GenY), and JaFirst (TT2).

Y-Destiny starts March 30, and has starting dropping couple’s trailers. I’m still suspicious given the director but it seems like there is plot (or plots) and a theme. Looks to be a series of 7 single ep vignettes (amended, see comments, might be 2 eps each for 14 eps total), different couple each time, some with supernatural elements, all with decent chemistry and acting chops.

Tues sports romance enemies to lovers

Weds the messy realistic actual dating one

Thurs hot ghost boyfriend (sad)

Fri YoonLayPerth coping with loss and finding new love (sad). This one will all rest on Lay's acting so we know it’s in safe hands. Our boy is going to KILL it.

Sat time-slip memory loss reunion romance

I’m thinking we can’t expect any of these to end happy or be classic BL. They’re gonna be more slice of life-ish.

Gossip - BL Outside of Thailand

Scholar Ryu’s Wedding Ceremony AKA Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding (Korean historical BL) got a legit teaser (eng sub here). @curriculumvtae reports that it’s releasing April 15th on WeTV (Philippines & Thailand) and Idol Romance (South Korea), while Will of Thai Bl says it’ll be on Viki too. It’s a short run of 8 ep built on a fake relationship trope (arranged marriage variant):

Ryu Ho Seon’s (Kang In Soo from You Wish) arranged marriage turns out to be with his expected bride’s brother, Choi Ki Wan (Lee Se Jin from Mr Heart). Ryu tries to undo the marriage, but his ill mother opposes this saying the scandal would be too much. Meanwhile, Kim Tae Hyeong (Jang Eui Soo from Where Your Eyes Linger), a senior at Ryu’s school, comes to congratulate him and falls in love with Choi. Then one day, the original bride disappears.

Okay it seems a bit twisty turny for ONLY 8 EPS, but oh my goodness how excited are we? Our first intentional historical BL out of Korea!

We already knew Hong Kong was doing a remake of Japan’s Ossan’s Love under the same name (not my favorite Japanese BL but so very popular) but it’s now reported to be coming to Viu in June. Who knows how the CFA will take it. Depends on whether Hong Kong bows before the NO GAY KISSES regs or if they are going to use this as a political nose thumb... things could get cray with this puppy (the original has several kisses and s shower scene). Are we back in Addicted territory only with added comedy and civil unrest?

Speaking of Japan, Absolute BL (AKA Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai vs Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko) dropped sooner than anyone thought, March 27. But being Japanese who knows how/when/if we get subs. Protag finds himself trapped in a world of BL, but being straight he fights against any hot guy that draws near, but the whole world (literally) is conspiring against him. It’s a parody adapted from a yoai.

What with Absolute BL from Japan plus Lovely Writer and Call it What You Want from Thailand, is 2021 the year of BL being ultra self referential? Sure feels like it.
