I do, however, feel pretty confident that he’s a Feeler as well, so you have one letter out of the four for sure in common. And the two of you are also very open-minded, which he loves. Halsin can’t see himself in a romantic relationship with someone if they were to be angry and close-minded. An on/off sexual relationship? Sure. She doesn’t like talking about it too much (that is of course, if she remembers it), but for some reason, she’s more okay sharing such things with you.

She’s not very extroverted or loud, but she can appreciate it when you are. Your joy is infectious, and it’s something she hasn’t felt in a while, so she wants to do everything in her power to make you happy because when you’re happy- she’s happy.

And oh boy does she need therapy! As the therapy friend, she greatly appreciates your ability to listen and not judge when she does talk about her past or her feelings. Being raised in a cult is complicated, and there’s A LOT to process there. It’s gonna take time, and thanks to your open-minded demeanor, she feels safe enough to do a fair amount of it with you.

Out of my own curiosity, how come no one has done nothing about this Dexiter? (I’ve heard of them and yeah, not a fan) Surely you can tell Reddit about how they encourage toxic behaviour.

Let's first explain Dextixer's behavior.

He threatens people and tries to get them to kill themselves

So why won't R/RWBY stop a man who spams their subreddit with one post after another trying to tell people that they should never be happy with anything RWBY does, that they should hate their female protagonists and love the male villains, etc etc?

Because he's protected by youtubers like Calxiyn, Fatmanfalling, etc

Whenever a RWBY Critics attacks the show or the fandom, for example, harassing a girl for trying to enjoy RWBY?

He is immediately defended by the RWBYTubers.

One individual actually called out this hate

She and everyone else who tried to talk about were silenced by the RWBYTubers and anyone speaking ill of the RWBY Critics were cyberbullied into silence.

R/RWBY cannot do anything about Dextixer except lick the shit from his boots due to the fact that every single RWBYTuber has his back, and that to deny his hate and/or his harassment of RWBY fans would be considered "toxic positivity".

Any attempts at trying to defend the show? Dextixer speaks, and R/RWBY shuts down the posts. Dextixer makes another giant post insulting the show, the fandom, and the writers?

RWBY mod cirrusvision20 literally said that they refuse to take down his posts no matter how many people protest.

At the end of the day, R/RWBY mods are nothing more than playthings for R/RWBYCritics to harass the fandom.

After all? R/RWBY allows R/RWBYCritics to share posts to their subreddit in order to encourage harassment against RWBY Fans and the show.

Use other subreddits to teach people about RWBY. Do not insult, but educate them.

Show them that the writers were not bullied into writing bumbleby.

Show that James Ironwood was always a dictator.

Show that Adam Taurus was always evil.

Show them the Bumbleby build-up

But more importantly, remind them that if they don't want to see the RWBY Hate videos, there is always Youtube channel blockers they can look for online on google search to shut out the people with more SDE than andrew tate.

Bad News of the Week:

Various military scandals are currently rocking Germany. On the one hand, Russian (state) media have published a recording of a confidential conversation between senior air force officers that has been intercepted. And at a sensitive time. It concerns Taurus cruise missiles, which Ukraine desperately wants and which the German government, in particular Chancellor Olaf Scholz, is refusing. His official reason: German personnel were needed on site to ensure the weapon's functionality and, above all, its target settings. And Germany would therefore be a "direct participant in the war". This is precisely what the air force contradicts in this conversation, which was intended to coordinate a briefing on this topic for Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

Was Scholz just misinformed or did he deliberately give a false reason and hope that nobody would find out? The former would be amateurish, the latter an unworthy political spectacle - and both are out of the question. The fact that the Federal Chancellor also revealed in the same context that the US and British military were already active in Ukraine is just as questionable and raises the same questions. Scholz is often accused of communicating too little. In these cases, less would have been more.

The circumstances of this confidential conversation are also alarming. It appears that the conversation was actually a WebEx meeting to which an unknown (apparently Russian) participant had dialed in. Just like that. And nobody noticed. I was fully aware that cyber espionage is dominated by the Russians. And that Germany is lagging behind in pretty much every aspect of digitalization. But the fact that it seems to be so easy to obtain secret military information should really only be a bad joke. It will be interesting to see what other recordings of confidential conversations the Kremlin still has in the drawer. And when and with what ulterior motives they will be released to the (western) public.

And on the other hand, in the last few days, an investigative team has brought to light an arms deal that fell through ten years ago. In a deal worth billions, the German armaments company Rheinmetall would have built state-of-the-art combat training centers in Russia to train Russian soldiers. Excuse me? You need to know that no German arms manufacturer is allowed to deliver abroad (outside NATO) without the approval of the German government. This has always been a source of debate in the case of Leopard II tanks for Saudi Arabia, for example. And the conservative-liberal coalition in power at the time (yes: Angela Merkel) had actually approved the Russia deal. Excuse me? When Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, Sigmar Gabriel, the then Social Democrat Minister of Economic Affairs, fortunately pulled the ripcord. Whereupon Rheinmetall actually wanted to sue the federal government for lost profits. Since then, the issue has been on ice.

Both scandals show one thing very clearly: Defense is not a normal business and weapons are not just any export goods. This goes hand in hand with an immense responsibility. After all, human lives are at stake - protecting the lives of one's own population and killing (at least) the soldiers of another population. Apparently, not everyone involved is aware of this fundamental importance. Otherwise they would not treat it so lightly.

Good News of the Week:

Addison Mitchell McConnell Jr. ("Junior" - really?) will be history. Finally. In the dawn of his political career, the 82-year-old turtle from Capitol hill has shown astonishing wisdom of age - for example, "There is no doubt, none, that former President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the storming of the Capitol" - but that does not change the overall balance of his political life's work. Which, from a European perspective, is questionable to say the least.

In my memory, the long-time leader of the Republican caucus in the US Senate stands for one thing above all: rejection. Holding China accountable for human rights violations? Rejected. Allowing the Democrats' social programs? Rejected. Reappoint judges if you can't nominate them yourself (over 1,000 times!)? Rejected. Not only favor the super-rich in tax reforms? Rejected. And so on...

So now Mitch McConnell has announced that he "only" wants to be a simple senator after the next presidential election. Well. Anyone remember his cognitive failures in several press conferences when he simply freezed? Like his Democratic opponent Nancy Patricia D'Alesandro Pelosi (who is two years older), McConnell is an argument for the urgent need for an age limit for full-time politicians. But that argument obviously doesn't apply to the top job either...

PS: The above criticism of Donald Jessica Trump came just minutes after the Republican caucus under his leadership acquitted him in his second impeachment trial precisely because of the storming of the Capitol. So much for consistency. But never mind: he's gone. And that's good.

Personal happy moment of the week:

My daughter has a student job in addition to her studies in political science and communications and her involvement in the student organization. The money for the 37th pair of sneakers has to come from somewhere. She currently works in the political department of a leading social media agency. She had doubts at first. Whether she would be able to meet the requirements. And whether the job would meet her expectations. Both seem to be working out. At the weekend, she was praised for her performance by both her agency and its clients. As if she wasn't just an inexperienced young student who didn't need to be taken seriously. But a fully-fledged contributor in the department. Her contract was also extended. Including a pay rise - just one euro, but it's all about the symbolism. After her social year in a kindergarten, this is the second time she has scored points in a job. That makes a clean 100%. And a very proud dad.

I couldn't care less...

...that there will be strikes on our national rail company again. Company co-determination in all its glory - but the behavior of this union (of train drivers) seems increasingly unprofessional. And anything but solution-oriented.

It's fine with me...

...that when setting hashtags, the first suggestion for Donald is still Duck - and not Trump.

As I write this...

...I still have to empty half the cellar. Because one of the many difficult-to-understand regulations in Germany apparently requires a gas meter to be replaced every eight years. And it's in the worst possible place in our house. Thank you, bureaucracy!

Post Scriptum

Even if AfD & Co. don't want to admit it in their general xenophobia, the German labor market would no longer be able to function without immigrants and their children. According to the Federal Statistical Office, for example, nothing would work in cleaning professions with 60%, in gastronomy with 46% or in construction with 38% of the workforce having foreign roots.

The fact that the general proportion on the labor market is then only just under 25% is explained by the dominance of these - with the exception of medical professions - rather low-skilled occupations. For example, the proportion of apprenticeships is only 11%. The proportion is even lower for government occupations. Here, citizens with a migration background still play a very small role, with less than 6% in the police and judiciary.

Demographic change and the imminent retirement of the baby boomers are exacerbating the situation on the labor market. The shortage of skilled workers is already seen as a key risk for Germany as a business location. Society also has a role to play here. After all, together with the difficult German language and excessive bureaucracy, the widespread lack of a welcoming culture is the main reason why very few people consider Germany to be an attractive destination.

While I can't speak for every one of them, I think the big thing that makes RWBY critics so off in how they can support an in-series dictators, abusers and authoritarian types and still call themselves good people outside is that I think they fall into a different category of...activist for lack of a better word.

To me, there's several different types of activist: People who actually want to change or dismantle the oppressors to build a better society, or who want to lift up their fellow oppressed, people who are anti-oppressor for the sake of preserving their own self-image as a good person, but who wouldn't hesitate to throw it away if they think it becomes an inconvenience, or it gets in the way of their selfish desires...and people who only want to "progress" to get into the same club as the oppressor, but not actually changing the system involved.

A lot of the people who act the way they do with RWBY seem to be the kinds of people who fall into the latter categories. They like the IDEA of being against oppressors and evil, but only so long as they can indulge in the same evils and don't have to challenge their own self-image of being a "good person" in the process. They don't see the nuances of a situation so much as they just want to stuff themselves into the "good" category even if their actions and words are the complete opposite of that. Or they just hate being the targets of oppression, but don't actually want to help the oppressed, so much as elevate themselves to become part of the oppressors.

I think this attitude and mindset just bleeds into their views of RWBY, because ultimately a good chunk of the story actively criticizes and questions this mindset, highlights how ultimately these kinds of people are rarely as good as they think they are, and that drives them nuts. They want to call themselves rebels while following authoritarians who will do all the thinking for them, because it's more comfortable to indulge in cruelty when you're not the one responsible for it in your mind.

There's a RWBY character who so perfectly sums up who RWBY "critics" really are when it comes to social issues. A character that RWBY "critics" refuse to acknowledge the true nature of, probably because of how that character mirrors their own appropriation of social issues.

That character would be Adam Taurus.

Adam was happy to be treated like a hero by the White Fang, but in reality, all he cared about was hurting others. The White Fang only mattered to him when they were loyal lackeys, his weapon for hurting others. He didn't care about them, their safety, their lives. He didn't care about other Faunus other than himself or how his actions impacted them. He was happy to sic his followers on other Faunus that he saw as having wronged him in any way.

Just look at how often RWBY "critics" insult the queer fandom of the show, mock queer people who enjoy the show, treat Bumbleby fans like they're idiots, and even insist that RWBY fans don't belong in queer fandom. They insist they want "representation" in RWBY, but dismiss and disparage all of the existing representation while pretending an obvious relationship is nothing—and a great deal of that is spite over the queer relationship existing at all rather than one of the characters giving herself to an opposite-sex character. They don't want Bumbleby to be made explicit, they don't want people to acknowledge May as trans rep, they don't want queer folks to enjoy the representation the show has to offer—they genuinely desire queer folks to be punished for enjoying a show they don't like, because all they really care about is themselves.

That extends into their takes on any other social issues. Adam's a badass dudebro, therefore he must be in the absolute right and the writers derailed him and totally think fighting racism is wrong. Ironwood's the strong man in charge, so all the oppressive authoritarian stuff he does is 100% justified and every trait (explicit or even headcanoned) makes it Morally Wrong for him to be an antagonist. The themes and relevant issues don't matter at all to these people; all they care about, all that fundamentally matters to them, is the character(s) they like. The show not being what they want it to be. The offense of the creators not serving their desires alone.

Moon: Capricorn- practical, calculating, loyal, and very business oriented especially in ACOMAF. His sun trining his moon is something I'd feel just cause he gives off very earth element vibes. His emotions are very in line with his life goals and purpose.

Rising: Leo- I feel this because his most noticeable features is his long golden hair (like a lions mane ahem) also this would make this square his sun, which I think fits him. Also moon 6th house fits.

Lucien (chose this pic cause finding someone with red hair and no eye is hard.)

Sun: Sagittarius- he's Autumn Court and he honestly vibes with Feyre the most out of everyone in the book imo. Need I also mention red hair?

Sun: Scorpio- the platonic energy is so so heavy here. Perfect fit.

Moon: Virgo- he has extreme level emotional control. Constantly able to adjust to any situation he's in and has a secretive caring nature

Rising: Scorpio- okok.. I was thinking capricorn originally because bone structure. But he is the epitome of darkness, dreams and he gives sun 1st/12th house energy. I honestly think his sun conjuncts his ascendant. Also leo would be in the 10th house. Fitting.

Amarantha

Sun: Leo- def evil Leo vibes. Has to be the center of attention, unnaturally beautiful, powerful, and again. How many characters gotta have red hair?? Forreal.

Moon: Aquarius- honestly her sun and moon being opposite is accurate. Especially the competitive, ambitious nature she has. I think the reason Feyre is able to keep up with her is because she is also a aqua moon. Both refuses to quit.

Rising: Scorpio- definitely drawn highly to Tamlin (sun falls in her 7th house) but gives off night court aesthetic (plutonic) I feel like Rhysand's sun would fall in her 12th (hidden enemies). Feyre's rising in the 7th would also fit because they're open enemies (it'd be at the end of the 7th house but still).

Description

Thackery Binx’s story begins many many years ago, when the Sanderson sisters first began to wreak havoc. Thackery was almost always in charge of taking care of his younger sister, Emily, at the time, but one night she had been kidnapped by the witches while under his care. When he tried to follow them to save her, the witches casted a terrible curse on him that turned him into a talking black cat! His sister was killed that terrible night thanks to the Sandersons, and the black cat spent years and years near the old Sanderson house, protecting the black flame candle to make sure the evil women didn’t come back. It wasn’t until many years later that the candle was lit by a teen who snuck in with 2 others, and initially, Binx’s protective instincts came out, as he wanted nothing but to make sure the Sandersons were to never return. He was too late to stop Max Dennison from lighting the candle, but he was able to be there to help make sure nothing bad happened to Max, Allison, or little Dani. In the end, they were able to barely scrape by and survive, and afterwards, Binx’s curse seemed to be somewhat lifted. His human form was returned, and at first he was ecstatic! He thought he was finally free, but a few weeks later, the night before the full moon, he returned to his cat form, and soon became a human again once the full moon had passed. Since then, Binx has adjusted to the new ways of the curse, being able to somewhat live a normal life and schedule things around the full moon. He still feels protective over Allison, Max and especially Dani, and has been keeping a careful eye out for anymore witches getting in their way.

Headcanons

- Since he was cursed, Binx realized that he no longer ages, which grows more and more depressing as time goes on. It makes it hard for him to even think about settling down and dating, especially with his cat form getting in the way once a month.

- He absolutely hates magic and everything about it. He doesn’t trust anyone who possesses it and tries to stay clear of it, but it always seems to follow him somehow.

- It’s unfortunate, because he wants the curse to be fully broken, because becoming a cat like he does is very, very inconvenient. However, he realized that after the curse changed, he’s been able to see Emily’s spirit whenever he’s a cat! It gives him more time with her, even if she’s no longer alive. He isn’t sure he’d be ready to fully say goodbye to her if the curse were to be fully lifted — if he was no longer a cat, he’d no longer be able to see her again.

- The reason he’s so protective of Dani is because she reminds him of his sister. He doesn’t think Max keeps a close enough eye on her, so he takes on the extra responsibility of making sure Dani is safe.

- He often goes by Binx now. It’s typically only Emily who still calls him Thackery

- He’s very hyper aware of the moon phases for his own sanity, since he has to plan everything around the full moon

- Binx’s experience as a cat is sometimes hard to recall once he’s back in his human form. It all feels like a weird, foggy dream, only able to recall bits and pieces of what happened at times

- Binx isn’t sure if cats just recognize him, or if they sense the magic that cursed him to be a cat, but even when he isn’t in cat form, cats will seem to follow him. He refuses to have a pet cat, especially since he’s hardly home enough to take care of one, but he does pet any strays that come by or will give them some food and water.

- Hardly anyone knows about his curse besides Dani, Max and Allison. He’s embarrassed about it, and it is a constant reminder that he failed Emily. Even if he’s grateful to be able to see her spirit while he’s a cat, it doesn’t make the overall circumstances any better

- Either has dreams about magic and curses, Emily, or about himself in cat form. He swears the witches drove him to complete madness from the curse

- Basically a protective, cautious, sneaky cat detective that hates magic. But underneath that, when able to let his guard down and be normal for once, he can be funny, sarcastic and fun to be around. After all these years, though, Binx still doesn’t really know who he is or where he belongs.

(Very light) Spoilers ahead:

The zodiac is the domain guardians of the heavens and Earth. They are the only constellations with the privilege to walk the earth again unless invited to help the zodiac. So, not so much a career, but rather bidding or acting avatars for the gods. They all at some point influence history, intentionally or not, because of what the gods want them to do. They don't question why, nor ask questions as to why. They have no choice in not doing it mainly if it comes from Zeus himself, the only way they are stopped is if the fates intervene but they RARELY ever do.

Some of the "missions" can be "now-and-done", others can take years to complete, and some never do finish, but continue w/o the need of the zodiac influence as it's become independent like organizations of sorts. Sometimes their mission isn't to directly be involved but rather to influence the one who needs to be involved. Some of them just go on earth to do whatever they want so long as it doesn't catch big attention from the humans and basically keep a low profile.

Some missions require the zodiacs to make up a life and disguise themselves with the help of Hermes' boon. To humans, they look like different people, but to the celestials, oracles, or other gods, they look like they normally do. This is usually how they get away without the whole "hey you look familiar/you never age/are you immortal" situation. Though sometimes they don't if it's not a high-profile mission or will be in the lower class type of position like a BG character.

I'm sure there are some questions that will pop up so I'm just going to say it, those 'kids' of the historical figures/disguises didn't have two parents they only had one bio and a boon from the moon goddess made it possible as the zodiac are dead/celestials, so they cannot procreate anymore. As for them needing to die, they can die albeit quite difficult but they can, for a lack of a better word "respawn" back in their domain aka "celestial sphere" where they wait for their next mission.

Aquarius works closely with Zeus regardless of what Zeus is doing. Like currently Zeus is the owner of a company for which Aquarius (unwillfully) works for. Scorpio is not a war criminal, but does criminal activity and works in the "underground" to gather information from humans for the gods. Just like when he was a pirate, gathering information for the gods, killing those who crossed the wrong deity, etc.

It should be noted that even though the Gods are, well, gods they are not all seeing or knowing otherwise there wouldn't be as much drama in the pantheon as there is or be surprised when things happen. The only one who is close to that is the fates but not by much.

I can give a small list but some will be listed as "N/A" or what they did in the past to avoid major spoilers: Aries - Isn't given missions because Zeus doesn't trust him and has a high tendency to ruin them with his anger issues and non-subtle "tactics". So if he does it usually has to do with wars. In the current timeline, he hardly participates in wars anymore due to them being solved immediately by Athena, So he doesn't really do anything more or less hangs out and starts stupid fights between humans. Taurus - N/A Gemini - N/A Cancer - In the past, one of cancer's missions was to be the figure we know as "Jean-Jacques-Régis de Cambacérès" as to help influence Napoleon under Athena's request. Leo - Never had any as he was the only one of the zodiac who adamantly refused Zeus' orders or requests. He's only taken one mission and it was asked by Cirus. Virgo - "Works" in the higher class as a maid or occasionally a dutchess to collect information or do assassinations posing them as suicides 99% of the time. Libra - Used to when she was younger frequently be with Scorpio during his pirate times. Scorpio - In the past, was a known pirate and took on the lives of several different pirates in history some known and others not so much. Mostly was in a navy of some sort. Is mostly asked by Poseidon, Zeus, and several other gods. Sagittarius - Frequently teaches and visits colleges and does it out of his own free will with the approval of Zeus. Does not disguise himself and even uses his name "Chiron". He just goes to a different Uni every couple of decades and then comes back, surprisingly nobody has noticed. Capricorn - Cares for the forests, out of his own free will. Zeus did not need to be informed as he is typically away from humans and dealing with the forest creatures. Aquarius- Coder for Zeus Pisces - N/A

Because of spoilers imma be vague: All of them are also doing the same mission in the current timeline on top of whatever else the gods are having them do.

(none of this is meant to imply that the signs themselves do this. I make astrology posts for fun and this is a vent one)

Aries: Nearly beat a toddler to the point of broken bones. This was only ever intervened twice, specifically to ensure that there weren't broken bones because if there were he'd need medical attention and would have to be evaluated privately by cps.

Taurus: Didn't let one of their children get diagnosed with an illness they admit to knowing he has because it would be "an excuse."

Gemini: Recorded not only me but others having complete reactive abuse breakdowns to use as blackmail.

Cancer: Deliberately causes scenes in public by crying so that you look like an asshole if you don't give her what she wants.

Leo: Took one of their children out of therapy because the therapist was actually trying to help him and realized how severely abused he was being.

Virgo: Pretend to be holy when they're just blatantly bad people. Direct quote here, "I've tried so hard to see what the lord sees in you, but I can't."

Libra: Tried to bring my rapist, abuser, and attempted murderer back into my life to "get his side of the story." My mother threatened legal action against them over this.

Scorpio: Threatened to "cut off" the genitals of one of their children if they had premarital sex. Said child was ten at this time.

Sagittarius: Moved their son across the country specifically to socially isolate him, make him dependent on them, and feel incompetent as an adult.

Capricorn: Bullied their own child for his clothes but refused to actually buy him new ones, knowing damn well he was a teenager and couldn't just go get new ones all the time. He lived in hand me downs. His siblings everything they wanted, including rodeo pageant outfits.

Aquarius: Gaslighting daily about the most ridiculous things and then calling you the gaslighter. Also they raised a horse girl. That's not "abusive" but maybe don't let this girl have horses that she literally trained to hurt anyone but her entirely unprovoked.

Pisces: Love bombing and doing favors just so that you owe them something. Also, emotional manipulation to the extreme.

Ophiuchus because fuck you I'm adding more: Killed animals they didn't like and bought their child a rabbit they knew she wouldn't take care of, said she wanted it but never expressed any interest in this creature she asked for, and then didn't care when she killed it. They made her brother bury it.

Adam Taurus and how he was never ruined to begin with

A lot of people on social media have claimed that Adam Taurus was “Retconned” into being an abusive ex, and that he was “meant to be” a freedom fighter and an anti-hero.

In this post, we’ll look into Adam’s actions and words throughout the show, and discuss instead how Miles and Kerry remained consistent with Adam’s character.

In the black trailer we see Adam working Blake. Right now this doesn't really imply anything on their relationship .Just that they are working together. The initial plan seems to just be to steal the cargo on the train. When Adam says he will set the charges Blake shows concern about civilian passengers and crew being caught in the explosion. Adam says "What about them?" This shows he doesn't care about any bystanders as long as he finishes what he is set out to do. At this point we still don't know what that is. It also shows that Blake had no clue about the explosives. If the plan was to always blow up the train then Blake wouldn't need to express concern for passengers if she knew it was always going to be demolished. Adam also used Blake as a distraction for him to destroy the spider tank which we never see again.

In volume one I don't believe Adam is even mentioned. I could be wrong. Blake just talks about the WF but not Adam himself. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

In volume two Blake mentions how Adam started the trend of wearing Grimm masks to 'dawn the faces of monsters that some people make them out to be.' Then she talks about him at the campfire and actually name drops him here. She explains how his vision of a perfect world isn't the perfect world for others. This shows where Blake started to distrust him and puts Adam in the perception of possibly being misunderstood in his goals. Then she drops the line of 'When I found out my oldest partner had turned into a monster I ran!'. At this point Adam has did some very ill moral things according to Blake. The train heist was the last straw when he was willing to kill people there who had nothing to do with faunus oppression. Then we finally see Adam at the very end of the volume. Here he shows no remorse for any of his brothers in arms and simply states that the group will continue to listen to him. This paints his goal as fighting for faunus rights extremely questionable.

In volume 3 we have a flashback to when Cinder tries to recruit him. At first he refuses to work for any human regardless of what they could offer him. We learn this is before the train heist were Blake runs. Then we see after the heist where Adam says not to worry about Blake and that they need to return to Mistral. Most likely to report back to Sienna about the train heist. At this point he only lost control of Blake but is still in control of the WF Vale branch. He isn't obsessed with her. Cinder then returns after getting half the maiden power and decimates his camp. She then offer's him dust and lien in payment for his services. Adam does not turn down her offer. He is now compromising his own convictions by working with a human he refused earlier. If he was truly the revolutionary that a lot of people paint him as at this point then he would have fought Cinder and never partner with her. It doesn't matter that he would have been outmatched he would have died a martyr with his convictions intact. Later on the volume Blake talks about Adam again, not naming him this time. Saying that she got close to him and how he slowly changed and how he kept making excuses for getting more and more violent. This is where the abuse starts to become more apparent. Just because Blake called Adam a mentor in V2 does not mean she also wasn't romantically involved with him. Being one doesn't make the other impossible. She also trusts her team a lot more to divulge something incredibly personal to her. Then we have the fall of Beacon. Adam was not hunting down Blake. They just happened to run into each other. Adams goal was never to hunt down Blake, but when she showed up he took the opportunity. Adam lays on thick how much her betrayal actually hurt him. And declares that he will take that pain and direct back at Blake buy killing everything she loves and holds dear. Then Yang attacks and loses her arm because lost her cool and launched and extremely telegraphed attack that Adam took advantage of. Blake used her semblance to escape with Yang and Adam continued to kill the people around him, and some Grimm, since that is what he was paid for. He was less of a revolutionary here and more of a mercenary for Cinder in my opinion.

So, from what I've seen Adam's character didn't really change. We hear what Adam said he was for, but then we see him act differently by ignoring his convictions to his cause and pulling in people that would help him kill humans, or blow up more schools. From here on he craved more control and since Sienna didn't agree with how the WF should proceed he decided to take over. Nothing about this character screams 'ruined' character to me. He wanted the Belladonnas killed because they were getting in his way. He killed Sienna for getting in his way.

Blake took away his control and his image. He chased her for revenge. He wanted to make her suffer for his loss. “Why can’t you leave me alone?” was more of him saying “Why do you keep standing in my way?”

Could they have gone a different route with him? Sure. But the same could be said for every other character. Since shopkeeper isn't some Vale underground info broker who uses a dust shop as as front I guess he could be a 'ruined' character to since that is also very interesting. People need to let people have their opinions. Some people don't like how Adam turned out, and that's fine. Other's like how he was a foil to Blake and then to Yang. That's fine too. But don't attack people for liking/not liking the other's opinion. And don't attack the writers saying they can't write a good character. They just didn't write what you wanted in character. This does not make them bad writers. It just means they didn't write something that you prefer. Everything is subjective. That's the nuance of story telling. Some people will enjoy the story shown while others won't. Doesn't make the story bad. It just means it didn't appeal to one of the groups.

Also: Semblances.

Adam’s Semblance says so much about him as a person, and the difference between him and Yang as people.

Moonslice allows Adam to store energy by blocking attacks with his blade, then release it in a powerful attack. This is contrasted with Yang’s Burn, which lets her accumulate power when she takes hits and use it to enhance her strength and speed.

They’re similar Semblances, but Adam’s is much narrower in scope and purpose. The only use Moonslice has is as a direct attack, while Yang’s has allowed her to protect herself and others—she’s even used it to intercept an attack meant for someone else. Moonslice also requires Adam to have a weapon to gather and release his Semblance through.

Because, for Adam, all that power matters for is as a weapon, something to hurt others. That is his only desire, and that is reflected in his Semblance.

But even more telling is the fact that—unlike Yang, who has to personally take life’s blows in order to grow stronger—it’s Adam’s weapon that takes the hits for the sake of his attack instead of him. Adam derives power from the punishment his weapon receives.

…in other words, it perfectly reflects how Adam appropriated the oppression and abuse the Faunus have suffered for the sake of his desire to hurt others.

They didn’t ruin his character, he was always that way, people just head-canoned him into their edgy abused/neglected power fantasy character and were upset when he ended up going to the logical conclusion of his character arc.

That's always what his character was. An obsessive self entitled maniac that felt that he deserves the world because he suffered, and everyone else was in the wrong.

He was always that character and wasn’t poorly written for that type of character. He was rather realistic actually. If you wanted him to be a different type of character that's fine if you're writing a fanfic, but this is always how his character was.

I believe in keeping with RWBY's preference for subverting tropes, Adam is an Ill-intentioned extremist version of the "White Male Savior" typically common in anime, tv shows, and movies.

Side note? Adam cut off Yang’s arm

Why do people keep saying that Yang had no reason to fight Adam compared to Weiss, when A) Blake was Yang’s partner, B) Yang lost an arm due to Adam, and C) Adam and Yang had similar yet different semblances?

Let’s go further.

Yang and Adam both go through a lot of suffering. However Yang uses her suffering as experience to try to help Blake grow as a person in volume 2 chapter 6. We see in the Adam short that Adam tries using his pain to manipulate and gaslight Blake.

Yang’s semblance is like a Guardian, meant to protect others or be used to help others. Adam’s semblance is more like an Abuser’s power to take somebody’s attempt to defend themselves and use it to hurt them or others.

Yang and Adam are both elements of Anger. But Yang reflects it through her words, causing many critics to hate her for having any mood that isn’t positive 100% of the time. Adam’s anger is reflected in his attacks on people, which seem to be defended by critics as being “a kicked dog?” I’m sorry, I have to go through more notes from what I’ve seen of Adam Apologists.

Anyway, moving forward. Yang is shown repeatedly being concerned about others wellbeing, even those she has no relationship to. Nora is repeatedly shown doing the same, even calling out Ironwood on his sociopathy and disregard for anyone that he cannot use or intends to sacrifice. I bring up Ironwood because Adam ALSO uses and sacrifices other people to achieve his goals, and both love to talk about “The greater good” as an excuse for their actions. Adam showing no regard for his followers who die at Mount Glenn or Beacon, telling Cinder they will still support her if he tells them to. Yang in multiple volumes is shown to be willing to put herself out there for others faunus or human.

Adam is shown being a Faunus Supremacist, or at least wanting to wipe out humans. Yang literally calls out a racist in V8 pointing out how the Faunus were doing more for Mantle than Ironwood ever did, showing people that despite Ironwood’s propaganda broadcasts, they did not need Atlas so much as Atlas needed Mantle.

Also , regarding design?

Yang’s style of character is one that becomes increasingly conservative, less sexualized...which amusingly causes a lot of people to claim she’s “no longer fun”...I personally didn’t realize that a female character’s purpose is apparently to be “lewded or waifu’d”. As she becomes less interested in men, more mature, she represents a female character who is both complex and more interesting to write in LGBT settings. Furthermore, as we see in “Turning Red” its honestly refreshing for female main characters to be allowed to be moody...something that is considered either bad writing or “no longer fun” if a woman is angry....Honestly I feel sympathy for the writers of Turning Red...all that magnificent work they put into their characters, the story, everything...and people went all out in review-bombing them...I suppose this is why we can’t have nice things. One last note is that Yang is also a person who doesn’t let the bad in the world stop her from being idealistic or compassionate to others. That’s a very mature mindset to have, not to mention the whole standing up to the law when doing the right thing is different from obeying a law that may be bad for others.

As for Adam. There’s no other way to say this. He is “abused neglected male reader” material. He is the straight white male, angry at the world, wielding a sword, claiming to be giving the world the justice it deserves. He’s even got the weeboo Katana! Adam Taurus is a teenage male fanfic writer’s fantasy. The fact that his “enemies” or more specifically the people he hurts often are women is also something worth noting. (Blake, Yang, Sienna)...as is his complex of being oppressed or harmed by said women...he’s basically perfect revenge fantasy protagonist material. Which is why so many fanfic writers who focus on him try to make him into a hero and the women opposing him into villains.

One final example of the foils....While both characters prefer to fight over talk? Yang shows restraint multiple times, and prefers to still offer people the chance to walk away. Adam repeatedly is shown to be stubborn and embrace violence first to the point of chasing anyone who’s “Wronged” him, to where Yang and Blake had to put him down.

Its interesting...A lot of people got furious that Yang and Blake killed Adam, but NOT that Adam was trying to kill them...Apparently Adam cutting off Yang’s arm is ignored or laughed at, but Yang and Blake killing Adam is considered first-degree murder, not self-defense?

I still wanna know why , despite Blake trying to reform the White Fang members like Ilia and preach pacifism over violence....why do people keep calling Blake a terrorist who is “just as bad as Adam” or “responsible for just as many deaths as Adam?”

I will never understand people trying to justify the actions of male antagonists or portray them as victims when the people facing them are female protagonists who are idealists rather than cynical.
