g e n s o - 1 2.
a/n: lol so um i barely know how to write fight scenes, so we're starting this chapter like halfway through the calvary battle. we'll start from where monoma steals bakugous headband bc why notttttt
Tumblr media
"change of plans... we're getting rid of all these extras.." bakugou seethes looking down at his palms.
you let out a gulp, "be rational bakugou... even if we do- we have to be careful.. we dont know their quirks..." you state looking up at him.
"shut it genso! im always rational! now get them kirishima!" he growls staring at them menacingly. kirishima rushes forward, "you think youre so tough?!" you grunts before winding back to send an explosion only for monoma to block it.
bakugou grunts turning around quickly to recieve a explosion right to his face. monoma chuckles amused, "no wonder you love this quirk so much..!" he says before hitting kirishima quickly.
"he can copy quirks!" you yell up, quickly figuring out his quirk. bakugou grunts in response sending another explosion at him only for him to block it using kirishimas hardening quirk.
"ah..! looks like we have a smart one here!" he grins. you narrow your eyes getting ready to speak up, when another 1-b student stops you all with his quirk. you look down to see kirishimas leg stuck by some substance.
"genso! mina! hurry and get rid of it!" commands bakugou as he stares at monomas team running away, "we're loosing them!"
you and mina both work to burn the substance as quickly as you could. finally, you managed to free his leg "done!" you announce.
before you could collect yourself kirishima starts running causing you to snap back into reality, "hey extras! get back here!" yells bakugou, sending himself flying forward.
"sero, get ready to catch him!" you instruct quickly trying to run as close to him as possible so there would be a less risk of him to fall. you look at bakugou to see him stuck in a bubble of some sort, "cmon bakugou!" you state frustrated, "i thought you said you were gonna win! stop holding back for fucks sake!" you yell.
you see bakugou winding his hand back and blasting a explosion at the bubble causing it to burst. you let out a grin as bakugou grasb some of the headbands around monomas neck. "sero- now!" you yell rushing forward to meet him halfway.
kirishima lets out a grunt as bakugou lands back in his original position with a thump. "we're not done yet! im not finished till i get all our points back from that copycat bastard!" he rages.
"elbow guy, tape him!" he instructs moving to the side to let him do so. "raccoon eyes! leave some acid in the direction we're going!" he says lifting his leg. "genso- use your air to push us forward quicker!" he grunts as kirishima glides over minas acid easily.
quickly the other team tries to protect themselves by creating another barrier, "not so fast!" you yell bounding them with earth to stop any of them from moving or using their quirks.
bakugou grins predatorily as he snatches the last headband off of monomas neck. "now we're going for deku and half n half..!" he glares looking at the ice covered area.
the timer blares as the last 10 seconds start being counted down. you move your hands up turning the ice to water and throwing it down behind you. suddenly, bakugou goes flying again. okay seriously.. this guy has some real issues with communicating... you grit staring up at him.
"times up!!" announces present mic over the speakers.
bakugou lands face first on the ground as you all slow to a stop. you stifle a laugh at the sight of him sprawled against the ground before bursting into laughter along with your other teammates.
you all run up to him as you control your laughter, "you okay..?" u chuckle only to see him beating his fist against the ground repeatedly.
you hear present mic announce the teams moving on. "looks like our leader isnt exactly all that fond of the fact we ended up in second.." kirishima sighs grinning a bit. you giggle a bit at the sight of bakugou throwing a tantrum.
"you know in some ways he reminds me of a toddler who didnt get the toy he wanted..." you remark, smirking to yourself slightly. kirishima shakes his head in amusement as you and him both pull bakugou up to his feet. "bakugou stop whining... at least we made it to the last round. now you actually have the chance to win.." you fold your hands across your chest, meeting his gaze.
"whatever.." he grunts not acknowledging you and walking away.
"time for a lunch break!" screeches present mic as all the students start clearing the arena.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
you quickly rush into the ua gym after eating. letting out a quick sigh, you lean against the wall for support. "fuck, fuck, fuck... its obviously gonna be 1v1 battles between the last couple of students.." you groan slumping down and slowly closing your eyes.
you turn your head slowly looking at the cheerleading costume in your hand dejectedly, "do we really have to do this...?" you whisper to yourself before standing back up to go change into it, grabbing your pom poms on the way out.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
you stand next to uraraka and all the other girls readying yourselves to come out into the arena. "arent these clothes a bit too.. revealing..?" you question trying to pull down the skirt that barely covered your butt.
"i tried my best to make it somewhat better than the other cheerleading outfits, but this was the best i could get.." sighs yaoyorozu apologetically.
you let out a slight smile, "hey.. its alright.. its just for a little while.. i can manage" u smile reassuringly.
you all walk out as you lower your head in embarrassment, feeling the crowd and students stare. standing against the wall you realize denki and mineta had tricked you all. you let out a gasp as you meet bakugous widened eyes. quickly you look away, cheeks reddening slightly in the process. "this is so embarrassing..! im gonna kill those two when i see them!" you mutter.
you turn and see them two giggling in the corner, "you perverts! im gonna curb stomp the two of you until you cant tell whose who!" you rage, turning red in both embarrassment and fury.
"well.. we might as well not waste yaoyorozus creation and just use them to the best we can- besides theyre pretty cute!" exclaims hagakure happily.
"hell no" you deadpan, "im not feeding into those two perverts delusions" you grunt throwing down the pom poms and walking up to the other students who made it to the final round.
you mutter to yourself angrily standing in the middle of the crowd hearing how the final matches are gonna be separated. you turn feeling someone staring, only to find bakugou behind you avoiding your gaze with slightly flushed cheeks.
you widen your eyes turning to the front blushing, no.. theres no way hes staring at me.. its just the light! im seeing things! you think shaking your head slightly to rid yourself of the thought.
you look up to see who your first opponent would be. you let out a sigh of relief, "oh.. aoyama.. thatll be a easy fight.." you smile, before rushing off to the other girls as they set up the new arena.
"cmon y/n! cheer with us!" chuckles uraraka throwing you pom poms and jumping. you let out a small smile "fine..." you grin before joining them.
"y/n! you seem like you know how to tumble, got shorts on under?" mina asks playfully as she readies herself next to you.
you let out a grin, "you know me too well!" you laugh before counting down and rushing forward doing a roundoff into a back handspring beside mina, landing cleanly with a exhilarating smile. the crowd goes wild and cheers you all on with claps and praises as you smile waving up at the crowd with your pom in hand.
"okay this is actually pretty fun..." you admit blushing a bit in embarrassment.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
you sit up in the class 1-a section having changed out of your cheerleading outfit. looking down at the arena, you get ready to spectate izuku and shinsos fight. you let out a cheer as the two walk out, "lets go izu!!" you yell clapping.
cmon izuku.. dont let all that training go to fail now.

Afterlife
Prologue
Summary: An early death for the aspiring number one hero left a bitter taste in Bakugo Katsuki’s mouth. At the ripe age of 20, he was taken from the world and he was clearly not ready to go. After a long time of refusing to cross over to promised peace, his personal Reaper offers him one deal and one deal only to return to the land of the living. However they really did not play fair… Haphephobia is the fear of being touched by others, When your quirk cannot distinguish the living from the dead, you tend to develop a fear of contact. You are an ex Pro-hero who has recently rented a home from a couple who lost their son a few years back. You can feel someone residing in the home, someone with a bad attitude and only 12 months left to fulfill his end of the deal before he is forced to cross.. to the Afterlife.
Warnings: Dark themes, cursing, Haphephobia (the reader has a fear of touching overs), Quirk allows her to see dead people. Cursing, talks of death, violence and life threatening injuries. Later parts may contain NSFW but will be noted.
Pain. Excruciating, unwavering pain.
That was all he felt from the top of the head to the tips of the toes. This was the last feeling he could remember before… Nothing. As suddenly as the pain came, it was gone, though the sounds of sirens and screams remained.
Surveying his surroundings, a flash of green lightning overtook his attention. His long time, green clad rival fell from the sky with a resounding thud, shaking the nearby ground.
"What the hell are you doing here Deku? I have this!" The man snapped without delay.
The green haired man didn't look at him or really acknowledge him at all, rising anger filled the ash blonde.
"Kaa…chan?"
The stunned hero finally choked out, tears pricking the corners of his emerald colored eyes.
"Why the hell are you crying now you damn idiot? We have villains to ki…"
Interrupted by a gut wrenching scream that tore through the air like sharp blades. Deku screamed, his leaking eyes landing on something behind the man.
Finally turning and following Deku's gaze, his gut dropped. There in a pile of rubble, lay... himself.
Katsuki Bakugo, current number seven, pro hero Dynamite. His words failed him for one of the first times in his life, his chest heaving as his childhood friend rushed to his still body. Deku gingerly picked up his upper half and lay it in his own lap. As per usual Deku was muttering over and over the same word "No." His widened gaze on the fallen man.
Dull vermillion eyes stared back up at him that were almost always narrowed, were now relaxed. "Please no!" Izuku whined as Katsuki himself hyperventilated.
"This is a dream right? A fucking joke?" He chuckled dryly, his chest siezing once again when Deku raised his hand slowly to his ear. Pressing his communicator his voice croaked out through sobs.
"This is Pro hero Deku…. I… need immediate medical assistance to my location. Pro Hero Dynamite… has fallen."
The words sliced Katsuki's chest, his fingers now gripping the fabric of his torn hero costume. No! This is not real! He wasn't even number one yet! At only 20 years old, he had just graduated UA only a few years ago! How was he….dead?
A strip of red brought him out of his stupor, eyes now landing on the tall muscular frame of… his best friend.
"Kats?" The man whispered, his eyes widened in disbelief.
"Please tell me this is a dream shitty hair! Or one of you and the other idiot's stupid pranks!" He screamed at the shocked man, tears now misting up his similar colored eyes.
"I am sorry to say this is no joke Bakugo Katsuki."
A calm voice broke through the crying screams of his friends, turning to find a woman he had never laid eyes on in his life.
She was on the shorter side, slender frame with beautiful, caramel colored skin. Her dark almond colored eyes were soft, watching him with a soft reassuring smile lay on her full lips.
"Who the fuck are you?" The ash blonde snapped, watching her smile simply widen.
"I have been called many things over the years…You may call me Nyx."
He crossed his arms, eyeing the woman. "That didn't answer my question, who the hell are you?"
She simply motioned with her hand, indicating for him to follow behind.
While she sauntered away, his eyes returned his former classmates.
Kirishima now cradled his body with deep racking sobs, rocking slowly as Deku spoke urgently on the phone. With a deep sigh, he turned to reluctantly follow the woman around the corner.
Once he had rounded the corner he found himself no longer on the street, frozen where he stood. His surroundings now resembled the living room of his childhood home. Glancing around in confusion at the familiar surroundings.
His mother was in the kitchen humming away while she cleaned a dish, his father reading the paper at the island in the same area.
"Hag? Old man?" He called for their attention, however once again no reaction.
"They won't respond unfortunately, they cannot see, nor hear you."
The woman's voice catching his attention once again. She now sat on the couch, one leg propped up over the other. "Why the fuck are we here?" He snarled, anger rising once again quickly.
"I thought this would be a more… comfortable enviroment for our conversation than a destroyed street." He rolled his eyes as she pat the seat beside her with long, manicured fingers. He stomped before her, opting to cross his arms instead over his chest rather than sitting.
"Just tell me who the fuck you are and why I saw myself with those nerds."
Her smile faltered just the slightest, but maintained her professional demeanor. She flicked a piece of dust from her pantsuit covered knee, "Well Sir, because you died."
He raised a brow, sneer crossing his lips. "If this is some kind of joke or villain's quirk, release it now because it's not fucking funny."
She frowned now, her full lips pursing slightly at his brash attitude. "I assure you Mr. Bakugo, that I would not be here unless you were well and truly dead. You died in battle with a villain I'm afraid… I never fully introduced myself, so for that I apologize."
She stood now, offering her hand. "I am Nyx, your personal reaper assigned to take you to the afterlife."
He snorted, slapping her hand away. "Bullshit and I'm the King of Dragons." She smirked, placing her hands at her lower back now.
"Maybe in a past life."
Commotion caught his attention behind them, hearing his mothers excited voice now. "Oh Izuku! Ejirou! How are you?"
His eyes widened, turning to see his mother holding open the front door. Deku and Kirishima stood in the frame, the green boy as fidgety as ever. The darkness behind them through the threshold indicated it was now well into night time. Just how much time has passed already?
"Mrs. Bakugo." Kirishima started, his mothers hand raising to pause him "Oh honey, you've been over here a thousand times! Call me Mitsuki! Speaking of my brat, is he not with you?"
Katsuki blinked, they weren't about to… were they? Kirishima cleared his throat and tried again with a sad smile, "Mrs. Bakugo, could we… maybe sit with your husband?"
Her smile faltered, taking note they were still in full hero attire mixed with somber faces. Nodding, she hurriedly ushered them to the kitchen.
"We can… go somewhere else if you do not want to hear this." Nyx spoke softly as if to a child who had dropped his ice cream. He glared at her when his mother's scream tore through the air, chilling every drop of blood in his body. Anxiety spiked as he felt the urge to rush to her, tell her he was there. He was NOT dead.
His mother and he always had such a strained relationship. After he had graduated and stepped into adulthood their relationship had gotten a lot better. They had kept in touch when he moved into his own place and started rising in the ranks.
"I am truly sorry Bakugo, your family will be alright. You can pass on to paradise knowing that they will be just fine."
He snorted, "Fine? Do you not hear my mother wailing in there? I'm not dead! I'm not going anywhere! I will be the number one hero yet!" He crossed his arms once again, Nyx letting a sigh pass her lips. She straightened her jacket and met his angered expression with a passive one of her own. “I'll give you some time to yourself. When you are ready, I will return."
He rolled his eyes, "Fuck off already. I'm not dying today, tomorrow or ever!"
Nyx gave a small bow, a lot of newly passed souls acted similarly. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance, these were very common. Seems Bakugo was deep in the first two options. She exited the residence, fully expecting to return to a soon to be changed man, ready to pass.
Boy how wrong she was.
Three years… Three. Long. Fucking years later.
She has had to deal with this ONE soul, her longest mission yet. The previous one had lasted all of six months before he finally agreed to passing on. But NO! Not this stubborn as fuck ash blonde. She had tried almost every trick in the reaper's guide, showing him his funeral, some of his past and even a future where had he lived. Hell! She had even tried bribing him!
Nothing. Worked. To this day he had told her to fuck off more times than not, go bother someone else. He was damn sure he was going to come back to life any second, or will wake from this nightmare if he held out long enough.
After they had entered his childhood home, he had not been able to leave. He was able to walk the property line, but it was as if there was an invisible barrier keeping him here. He had tried using his quirk on it to let him pass, but he could no longer use the explosions that had always been available since he was four years old.
Being stuck here, he had bore witness to his parent's grief of losing their only child so young. His former classmates, acquaintances and even his teachers had all made appearances at some point to offer their condolences.
Deku and Shitty hair were the frequent flyers, checking in on his parents the most. Their visits had slowly became less frequent when time passed. He had kept up with the news of the world through their visits and the broadcasts his parents watched nightly.
Endeavor had retired a few months after his death, blaming himself for not being there for his protégé's death. Izuku was steadily climbing the ranks and currently sat at number 3. Kirishima had taken a few month break to recover from his closest friend's death. There had been many coverages, specials and interviews about his death. It was quite funny how people seem to care more when you're dead then alive.
At current he stood in the middle of a bare living room, watching his parents carry out box after box of their belongings from the home. He had overheard their conversation a couple months prior how they couldn't live here any longer, the memories of their son were just too much to handle any longer. Learning of his death had really taken a daily toll on them until they decided it was time to let it all go. They had purchased a smaller home across town, still debating on what to do with the one he currently stood in.
"Bakugo."
The annoying as shit voice cut through the silence, drawing his presence. "What the fuck do you want Grim?"
She openly pouted at the nickname he had given her from the first few days. "It's time to go home… Look at your family, they're moving on. It's your turn."
He snorted, reaching down in attempts of lifting a box that sat at his feet. His hands slipping easily through the box as he sighed.
"Get bent."
"At this point I really wish I could." She grumbled in response.
He watched as his parents removed the last of the boxes, now making their final rounds. His mother stood just inside the doorframe to his childhood bedroom, holding herself with her fingers clutching the necklace at her throat.
The necklace held a small silver, grenade shaped charm that had been gifted from Kirishima a few months after he passed. He managed to hold onto one of Bakugo's bracers and had the small charm made from the metal for her, she had worn it every day since. Tears danced in her weary eyes, giving one last glance over her son's empty room.
"Good Bye… Katsuki."
He heard her whisper, the words making his chest tight. He reached out, trying to catch her hand and assure he was there. Again, his hand slipping through as she turned to leave. Mitsuki had become so quiet since he passed, it just wasn't right!
He should be here! Able to scream with her, struggle from her hugs and become who he was supposed to be!
"Oi, Grim." He called, returning to the living room.
The woman in question hummed in response as she leaned against the far wall.
"What the fuck do I need to do?" She smiled, Is he finally ready? "You just need to come with me, I'll take you home. You will feel no discomfort I assure you."
He crossed his arms with a grunt. "No Dipshit, how do I come back to life? What do I need to do?"
She huffed, too good to be true. "Bakugo, I've told your stubborn ass several times. You're dead. End of story!"
Her professionalism had gone out the door after month eight, only able to take so many insults and harsh words before it was time to take different measures.
Mirroring his stance, she indicating she meant business.
"Bullshit, you can work some magic shit. You're a reaper!"
Letting her head fall back, she groaned loudly in frustration. She was so taking a long vacation after dealing with this one. "Make me a deal or some shit."
She let her gaze return to the man, Did he finally hit bargaining? "This isn't Supernatural Bakugo, You're not a Winchester making deals to return. Things like that don't happen here in the real world."
He slammed his fist to the wall, "I can't accept this shit! I'm supposed to be saving people! Climbing the ranks and become number one! How the fuck am I supposed to surpass All Might if I'm dead? I've already wasted three years!"
Back to anger, he seems to live in that one. They have had this argument countless times and it never changed. She rubbed the bridge of her nose, he had his pride and she had hers. Her boss had offered to switch her out with someone else, but No! This was her case! She was going to complete it dammit!
"Fine Katsuki Bakugo. Three years I have tried to convince you to cross over. I have had it! I'll make you a deal if you want one. ONE deal… The only one I'll ever make, as it goes against many regulations, take it… or leave it."
She now stood to her full height, arms crossed as his smirk grew.
"Now we're talking."
"I'll give you this chance, this one single chance. If you can do it… I'll let you return to life. You'll be free to live your natural life until your time returns once again."
He nodded along in impatience, hands quivering in excitement even if his face remained stoic as ever.
"The deal is…. You must find someone to love you and love them in return."
His shoulders dropped along with his expression, "What in the Disney shit is this?" He snapped, earning a devious smile from her.
"I will give you three years to do so. If you can… I'll grant your return. If you can't…" She waived her hand, indicating his gaze to follow. He did, the far door filling up with ethereal sparkling light as he had seen many times during her attempts. "You will cross over… No complaints."
He blinked for a moment when they then lowered into slits "If I refuse?" She shrugs, "Then you stay here until you're ready and I'll keep bothering you each and every day until then. Dead as a doornail."
Groaning, he mulled this for a minute while eying her face for any hint of deception. "That's the only deal you can offer? Make some extra love me, and I'm back to hero status?" Nodding she picked at a loose paint chip on the wall with a fingernail. "And love them in return. I promise on my honor as a reaper, I will return you to life should you complete this."
His nose wrinkled in disgust, "How the hell am I supposed to make some extra fall in love with me? Love them too? Fuck that. "No."
She cocked a brow "No?"
He nodded in determination as her lips spread in a mischevious smile. "Fine."
Striding to the middle of the floor she sat down, crossing her legs.
"The fuck you doing?" He questioned, turning slowly to not find the woman on the floor but the one person who annoyed him most in his life.
"Becoming your worst nightmare." The now sitting Izuku spoke giving his brightest smile.
Thirty days. Thirty whole days of constant annoying ass antics from the reaper is all it took. She had taken to showing up as the green nerd, mumbling constantly, singing and even just calling him "Kaachan" over and over for him to finally snap. He had tried to stick it out, ignore her while she sang show tunes or poked him over and over. She had pulled out every trick in the book like an annoying little sister until he had finally given in.
"ALL FUCKING RIGHT I'LL TAKE THE DEAL!" The reaper formed as Izuku paused, holding her hand in the mid poke. She let the image melt off her skin, tilting her head. "You want the deal?"
He nodded, glaring her down viciously. "Yes! Now fuck off!" She lowered her hand before backing up a bit. Holding it out she offered him to shake.
"Shake on it, you'll have three years to find someone to love you and love in return."
He enveloped her small hand with his own, shaking it roughly. "What now?" He grunted and she smiled. "Now, I'll return exactly three years from now to check in. If you have found your person before then I'll return sooner, or if you decide to go home finally you can call for me too."
She began walking towards the front door as she always did when she left. Wrapping her fingers around the handle turning back with a smile. "Good luck."
Exiting the house she was gone.
He quickly found the limits of said deal. Though she had made the offer, she had not released his hold on the house. He still found himself stuck at the border of the property line, screaming at passerby's even if he still could not be seen or heard.
She sure did not play fair, giving him this deal that she knew he would fail.
He tried every single day for months to catch someone's attention. Anyone really, he didn't care at this point. Not one fucking person acknowledged him, indicated at all they could hear him. As his hope diminished, he found himself slowly staying inside for longer periods of time. Losing hours of time he simply couldn't recall.
Soon it was days, weeks and then when he was at his lowest… he fell into a deep slumber.

i’m two chaps behind but
Tumblr media
he’s so pretty (★ ω ★)
Tumblr media
i also have a new need for tokoyami-todoroki friendship, they look so cute
anyway these ppl are a full mood
Tumblr media
i too internally monologue my life in the form of a story when things are going south
alsooo
Tumblr media
they’re back! also mirio is finally here lmao
and nejire’s new cut is fabulous, rlly cute
Tumblr media
mikey wannabe
speaking of, i think ive let chapters for tokyo revengers pile on long enough, it’s about time i start reading the highschool part
anyway we get a quick explanation of where mirio’s been and why, him on communications honestly makes sense, and I am looking forward to him entering the fight since he can’t be touched with his phasing quirk
Tumblr media
and here he come, harsh, not holding back. that’s it, everyone pack up and go home, shiggy has been utterly wrecked lmao.
anyway, i shall finally address the blatant elephant in the room-
Tumblr media
bakugou has also been utterly wrecked
i honestly couldnt feel the fear or other emotions the other characters were clearly feeling, just because bakugou dying is something i think is way out there in terms of predictions, but what is certainly on the table is him burning out completely and unable to continue his life as a hero.
clearly he’s getting the hand of shiggy’s moves and attacks,
Tumblr media
but with the way things are going, especially since he’s so battered, bakugou will either get a power up or Midoriya will come in the nick of time for Bakugou to team-up with and basically direct him
well, i feel the latter may happen regardless, but the real question is if bakugou will merely get that power up, or if this will be his ‘final stand’ so to speak
this would deny him of everything he’s ever wanted and strived for, which would be a tragedy all on it’s own even if he doesn’t die
on the other hand, i don’t think horikoshi will take this route either because of the absolute beatdown bakugou is getting mentally, not just in the past two chapters but throughout the series. his behaviour and mentality has been questioned and revised and he’s grown a lot as a character, and now we have him and his theoretical absolute lowest, with shiggy taunting him with how he doesn’t care about bakugou and only knows him as deku’s bestfriend
once upon a time this wouldve been THE WORST thing ever for bakugou, but we can see he doesnt even get riled up, still focused on shiggy’s moves
all in all i think bakugou’s grown too much for horikoshi to cut him down now, so everyone can stop worrying!
(will i eat my words later? who knows lol)

Story Pile: My Hero Academia, Season 4
Story Pile: My Hero Academia, Season 4
Alright, now we’ve hit our stride, we’ve done most of the set-up stuff required to have stories and character information all out there. The major characters are all laid out, we have a villain on the horizon waiting to happen to people, and we just had an introduction of some new boundary characters, so it’s time to immediately do something with all of those. This is a series that has got a handle on the basic ideas of what it’s going to do, and each season can be snapped apart into a few short story arcs you can consider on their own.
There’s something to the experience of enjoying My Hero Academia, season to season. It’s got all the joy of a catchy pop song, popcorn playful and full of classic shonen anime battle feelings, but this pop song also includes a few slurs? And probably says something condescending about women. Basically, I’m enjoying it but I’m sure as hell not going to defend it.
What we get in this season is some high drama with a big battle, one of those stories that focus on the characters in the setting dicking around with the infrastructure that exists to deal with the commonality of superpowers, and then an absolute top-tier banger of a story arc about excellent nearly-zero-stakes hero bullshit.
I’m going to talk more about it and that’s going to involve spoilers, so, below the fold!
The first arc (the Shie Hassaikai arc) is a real solid rendition of something the genre does well. It’s a villain that gets attention and then the heroes who can be mustered quickly engage with it. It’s got a good personal connection to the inciting incident, with Mirio and Midoriya meeting Eri and needing to get involved. It’s got an escalation of the threat, and the enemy organisation is presented as exactly that — an organisation of people, with limited communication and means to take advantage of one another.
This was a mix of good and bad parts. There’s a bunch of questions of like ‘hey, why are you here?’ characters – like Bubble and Nighteyes – and a bunch of ‘hey, they’re here, this rules,’ – like Twice and Toga and Mirio and Ryuuki. The final villain fight even ended earlier than I thought it would, and put some real serious pathos into how it handled Mirio losing his powers. Like it’s very ‘boo hoo, I don’t get to be a superhero any more’ in a setting like that, but it’s still showing something of a serious loss of a character.
The second arc (the Remedial License Arc) continues the way this universe seems to think you don’t get to be taught things before you’re tested on them. The way Bakugo and Todoroki react to being asked to do things in a class environment makes it seem like it’s the first time they’ve heard the idea mentioned, and that either makes them poor students (and they’re not, Todoroki scores very well) or it means their class is failing them in a big, fundamental way. The idea here is great — show you can command trust and respect. I like that!
The biggest concern here is the focus on Endeavour and his inner life, because Endeavour sucks.
The third arc (the Gentle Villain Arc) is about an ancient, withered husk of a man who starts his youtube career in the silvery fragility of his eldest days, ie, in his thirties, and speaking as someone who did that, yeah, it feels really pointless. But this arc is about a single self-styled gentleman villain who wants to try and breach the UA campus because he believes that villains are the ones who change the world and heroes react to improve the world because of them — he’s charming as hell. Meanwhile, Deku wants to make sure this doesn’t become an incident because if it does then the whole school fair that’s about to happen gets shut down, and that means Eri doesn’t get to have a normal school day and candy apples and learning to smile.
The Gentle Hero arc represents two things this series has direly lacked: Something where the stakes are vitally important to our protagonists, and something where the stakes for the world are not dire. It shows a story where being a superhero means your solutions to problems get to be big, high scale things like rubberised buildings bouncing people off the walls and love-powered sandwiches of air, but the core of what they’re addressing are still things like saving one little girl’s smile. Good! Stuff!
By the way, if you’re curious, La Brava is 21, and Gentle is 32. It’s a gap but it’s also not nearly as bad as it looks considering La Brava looks like you asked a porn artist to design a lawn gnome.
The idea of having to break a hero’s spirit resulting in explaining things in combat is a good one. Fatgum explains it to Red Riot at one point, that the reason heroes talk about their powers, the reason they explain to enemies what won’t work is to cut off their options and to bring fights to a close quicker. It can demoralise an enemy, it can make sure they know what won’t work, and force them to confront what they can’t get away with. It’s good! It’s good because it also fulfills an important thing in the context of a story that’s about how and why interesting combat abilities interact, by letting you, the viewer, find out what is going on, what those combat abilities are and what they do without pulling the story to a halt and presenting an essay on combat stuff.
Oh, while we’re heaping praise for how it depicts and explains powers? Mirio’s powers are dope as shit, he doesn’t need One For All! He just needs to keep doing good! Oh wait, hang on, that didn’t work out so well. But still, the loss of his powers is the loss of something meaningful: His powers were cool, he worked hard on them, and they let him do something he wanted to do that we can look at as a fundamental good!
Twice and Toga showed up in the first arc here, and they’re still great, but not only are they great, but they did two things I really liked. One, they got super mad at Overhaul for misgendering Magne after her death, and two, the second they weren’t having fun dealing with the yakuza, they bounced. It was really nice because it plays with the idea of these characters having their own inner lives, and I think the fact we see those is why I think those two characters are amongst the best villains. We know what they think, and why they think it. We have an idea of their values, that’s cool.
Finally, and this isn’t really a thing the series is doing, just something I personally find funny, Nighteyes sucks and dies, and the last thing he learns as he dies, is that he was totally wrong about how his powers worked for his entire life. Like, how many plans and positions and projects did he dissuade people from trying because he was so sure that his power was right and there was only one way the future could work out, only to find that it turns out, nope! The future is yet unwritten and his powers didn’t work the way he thought they did.
Wait, though, hang on, it can’t just be an unalloyed good, right? Well, of course not, no as the fact I was delighting in the death of All Might’s former sidekick with a vibe of ‘eat shit and die.’ There’s a bunch of stuff in this season that builds on previous bad decisions, and the introduction of some new, equally bad decisions. Mineta is still here, for example, and he’s not changing — the closest you can claim to some kind of redemption or adjustment to the character is how he said something, just one thing in this whole season, which wasn’t revolting. It’s still a series where Bakugo, Todoroki and Midoriya are central, important characters who act on the world and who we’re meant to be invested in, and their powers all boil down to a form of punch a guy.
The story still features almost nothing for women to do on their own, even women with amazing and cool powers, because they are simply not chosen by the story to do the important things, and it’s just a coincidence that women do not have powers that can be simplified to punching a guy. There’s sexual harrassment (you do not get to put your coworkers in bondage equipment when they are explicitly asking not to) which is framed as a quirky thing for a particular ideological position and not, y’know, a crime.
This season is still fundamentally just My Hero Academia, and it’s just not going to do anything to change that.
There are still however two special things in this season that really ticked me off and I wanted to highlight them. First of all, this season spent more time focusing on Endeavour. I can’t say for sure but I’m pretty confident that this is the first time we’ve been seeing things from Endeavour’s perspective, with his inner life presented to us as a relatable position, and that’s a thing that suggests that this story thinks that this guy is a guy we should be able to empathise with. Sure, whatever, of course, this series seems to think that whatever it was he did wasn’t that bad and therefore the whole physical and emotional abuse of his wife and children is a thing that you can be redeemed from.
I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this, particularly in that there’s a lot of effort being put into making Endeavour relatable, to make his pain and the complexity it represents important to the audience, and none of that effort is being put into, say, giving Creati or Froppy a second thing to do. It’s a demonstration of what the story thinks of as engaging, what it thinks is worth using its setting and its superheroics to highlight.
It thinks Endeavour is interesting and it thinks say, Ryuuki isn’t.
There was another special boo tomatoes tomatoes I am throwing tomatoes moment, which was the fight between Rappa Kendo and Fatgum. Fatgum is already a character hovering on the edge of being a problem right there (I mean his title is ‘the BMI hero’, come on), but I appreciated the way the story treated the goofy character as if he had some room to be a cool hero. What I wasn’t wild about was the way that his framing was that to be powerful, he had to stop being fat, and that’s rotten. Like commit to it, don’t go ‘boom, surprise, he’s actually conventionally hot when he’s being powerful!’
I was real close to liking how they handled Fatgum and then I found myself incredibly disappointed.
This isn’t a story about school or superheroes. We don’t generally see the students talking about subjects in class, listening to or discussing complex topics of morality and ethics or public responsibility. We already know that they have to learn ideas like ‘protect people’ from the exams themselves, without seemingly any education about it ahead of time.
It really is the anime version of a superhero comic; superhero comics are famously sprawling, with many different characters in many different stories having a variety of different starts and finishes that can make tuning in at any given point a challenge, My Hero Academia is a lot more linear. The end of the last season introduced you to Mirio and Nighteyes; this season features Mirio and Nighteyes. There’s not a lot of distance between plant and payoff in this series, which can mean that the story is a bit easier to handle, but it also can make it feel a bit obvious; at the end of the season, there’s a focus on Endeavour and Hawks, and I’m going to take a wild swing that those two characters are going to be focal in the next season.
You can consider this as a good thing or a bad thing: I don’t particularly like the way that it follows the simple pattern of introducing a thing, then telling a story about that thing, because it does tend towards making narratives a little predictable and does make the world feel smaller. A character is introduced, and then we immediately learn about them because there’s nothing to focus on about them until after we already know. This runs the risk of being a real deflating move if they try and do an arc about (say) traitors or hidden instigators, which I think they’re going to want to do, since there are at least two characters introduced who can impersonate other people.
On the other hand, who cares? This is a series about feeling very big and hitting things very hard, it’s not really a series about smart superheroes outwitting people or standing on principle. I wish it was, but I can wish all I want and it’ll never be the thing I wish for.
See, superhero fiction doesn’t make sense unless you force it to.

My thing with Shigaraki Tomura is that he is, without discussion, one of the best written characters of Horikoshi.
1. He is the main antagonist, but not the main villain; that's AFO.
In other words, Tomura's goals are directly opposite to Deku's goals, which makes Tomura the antagonist. However, the big villain is AFO because he's the one holding the threads and manipulating Tomura.
2. Try and compare AFO and Tomura in terms of narrative complexity, for example.
AFO as a character is rather simple. So far he doesn't have a backstory to explain why he wants to dominate the world, outside of the whole thing with him wanting to make fictional stories come true. He is always evil and manipulative. He doesn't truly care about anyone if they don't represent some advantage to him. He's been alive for many many years now, but he hasn't truly change or grow inside the narrative of bnha.
On the other hand (pfff sorry), Tomura is quiet complex. He's the product of the hero society and he has a whole story supporting the narrative of how much he has changed and grown in the course of the manga. His intentions aren't always clear because what he wants is not always clear either. He has shown genuine affection and hatreds, has shown real concern for the people around him in contexts where they were not giving him any advantage and his reason for doing things is big enough to be the main subject of the manga.
3. AFO is the greatest evil, OFA is the greatest good. Tomura is related to both sides.
He is in the middle of a war where he represents who would win. He is a symbol just as powerful as All Might, a symbol that lives in a reversed world where the heroes are the villains and the villains are the heroes (at some extent, not completely).
There's no easy way out of his situation. Unlike other villains, he had no support and the heroes felt no sympathy towards him until later, after AFO admitted Tomura's being Nana Shimura's grandson. I think Deku is the only hero who has shown to be interested in Tomura for who he is and what he's suffering, or at least he wants to know more about him before making his final judgment.
4. Actually, we as the readers forget how little the inside world of bnha knows about him.
Tomura is for us an open book. We have heard him narrating his story, we've been in his mind, we've seen his feelings raw and bare. Not even AFO knows him as we do, neither does Deku. All the people who really "knew" him are dead.
We can even say Deku has the privilege of knowing Tomura the most. It's true that Tomura doesn't go around talking about his family and what happened to him, but let's not forget:
He didn't remember well enough what happened to him until My Villain Academia.
Since his first apparition, he had been highly communicative with the heroes, despite them rejecting him and his words multiple times.
He was willing to tell his story to the League of Villains at the beginning of the MVA arc.
Hawks couldn't find much about Tomura, which says a lot when it comes to how little the inside world of bnha knows about what happened to the Shimuras.
We don't know if All Might knows about how exactly the Shimuras died. We don't know if Gran Torino knows either, because for their reactions they didn't know about Kotaro being dead, many years after the Tenko incident.
We only know that Deku knows about Tenko because he has the vestige connection with Nana Shimura, but we don't know how much Deku is aware of when it comes to Tomura's past. How much Nana even knows?
Tomura has always been manipulated by AFO. He raised Tomura to act like he does and is constantly there to shape Tomura's path.
AFO now went as far as to possess him, restricting his actions, words and even his mental space.
Kurogiri is the only other character who knows Tomura well enough, and right now he's out of the narrative.
Deku does know Tomura better than any other hero, but he doesn't know him at all like we do. For the heroes, there's no reason to save Tomura or consider him something more than a criminal. They probably don't even know about Tomura being Tenko, or how he relates to All Might through Nana Shimura.
Horikoshi has showed us not only the story of Tenko and Tomura, but also his thoughts and feelings, his point of view, how AFO took advantage of everything. He haves us info enough for us to know that Tomura is an unreliable narrator. In complete honesty, every villain is an unreliable narrator in bnha.
5. Wherever you hate him or love him, it's easy to get invested in his story.
If he started off as someone who you couldn't understand or tolerate (not my case <3), that could have changed through the story. From his first apparition to the current arc, Tomura went from a complete stranger who wanted to bring violence and chaos to the hero society, to a character we deeply know (better than many other characters) and who is being manipulated and abused to a level that has no comparison on the manga.
We know at least three generations related to Tomura. We know his childhood and have an idea of how his teenage years went. His team (the League of Villains) have deeper backgrounds stories than many other hero students or pro-heroes. We've been on his mind and heart, enough to see through his eyes while he was killing his family and while he was getting possessed by AFO. We know almost everything about his quirk, about his behavior, to the point we don't know more because Tomura himself doesn't know more.
And Horikoshi had extensively showed us with many parallels and explicit actions how he is a victim. He presented Tomura as a victim of the violence in the current system. A young man with a great hatred capable of harming children and harming himself if that meant teaching a lesson to society. The desire of destruction went from a the typical speech of the villain, to a very saddening cry for help from a person that has been abused all his life.
Meanwhile, he is also dangerous and terrible, a cold blooded killer and a global threat. He has the biggest body count on bnha (after AFO, of course), showed no remorse or morals while facing multiple enemies and there's no guarantee Deku would be able to help him or save him.
6. In conslusion, if you want to know how complex of a character he is, just take a look.
From his character design to his voice, including his many names and the changes in his behavior, Horikoshi must have spend a great deal of time thinking about Shigaraki Tomura.
He even made the whole motive of Tomura the hands, a symbol Horikoshi likes a lot.
It's all written in the many details surrounding the character. Horikoshi probably adores showing off by giving horror elements to Tomura. You can see how Tomura is a mixture of many subjects and inspirations, which reflects on the elements of gid narrative.
That's why Tomura is also my favorite character in the whole story. At least for me, there are just a few other bnha characters that in matter of narrative can compare to him.

im honestly scared for whats going to happen next. while i have no doubt that bakugou is the one who knows deku best, this is the first time hes reached out to him for dekus benefit. he understands him but most likely doesnt really know how to communicate with him. what they desperately need is an adult to help talk deku down instead of fighting him, but since most of the adults have proven themselves useless in this, I'm worried whats going to happen.
I meant to reply to this ask sooner, but it didn't really come together that way, so my apologies. the manga itself will probably provide a better answer than this within the next 24 hours, assuming the leaks come out as scheduled.
but in the meantime, I do want to say that I don't think there's any cause for worry here. the Kacchan of the past may have had difficulties communicating with Deku, because he never really understood the why of why Deku was doing things (so even though he's always been fairly good at predicting Deku's actions -- "don't come, Deku" -- he never really understood what was driving him to take those actions). but the Kacchan of the present definitely knows what he's doing imo.
there are two important things to keep in mind here. the first is that we know from past arcs that Katsuki is capable of remarkable insight when it comes to finding the right approach to reach out to someone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
what's notable about this scene from the Remedial arc is the way that he anticipates which approaches are not going to work. he's not the one to come up with the final plan, but he is the one to say to the others, "look, if we don't do this right, the kids are going to react like this, instead of like this." definitely something which I'd say is applicable to the current situation as well.
and the other thing to keep in mind is that if this chapter established anything, it's that Kacchan knows Deku better than anyone else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he knew exactly how Deku was going to react. honestly we might as well have called this chapter "the nice and accurate prophecies of Kacchan." either that or, "I'm fine," after what is apparently Deku's favorite new mantra.
but anyway, so we've established that Kacchan canonically approaches situations like this with great care and anticipation for how the would-be-rescuee will react, and we've also established that Kacchan can predict Deku's reactions in particular with incredible accuracy. so given that, I think it's reasonable to assume that Kacchan has a plan here, and that there's a reason behind his specific choice of words.
"wow, real inspiring! all hail the mighty inheritor of One for All! but tell us this... are you smiling now?"
"do your worst, you All Might wannabe!!"
and this is the part where I was originally planning on writing out a much longer post, but for various reasons it never really came together. so I'll just try to summarize everything with bullet points instead.
the theme here is "OFA is a cursed power." this is something that has been steadily building up and intensifying for a while now. the past OFA users all died young. AFO drives them all into isolation and misery. the Vestiges think of OFA as a power that "is tasked with destroying AFO." Deku is now the last and only one left who can wield that power. it is a massive burden, and Deku believes that he has to carry that burden alone.
Katsuki knows exactly what is running through Deku's head right now, and has been anticipating this for a while. he read All Might's notebook. he knows what happened to all of the other OFA users. and he knows Deku well enough to understand that he fits right in with that legacy. back during the chapter 284 flashback he was clearly worrying about this exact type of scenario.
fast-forward to chapters 318 and 319. he finally tracks down Deku, and finds him looking like a trash bag that got forced through a paper shredder, surrounded by an angry mob of brainwashed civilians and NOT EVEN FIGHTING BACK AT ALL, go fucking figure. so he basically confirms with a single glance that his fears were well-founded, and that in his absence Deku has made significant progress down the path of being a complete dumbass.
Ochako then tries to reach out to Deku through words, just like Endeavor and All Might did before her, but he predictably responds with the exact same phrase Katsuki knew that he would use -- "I'm fine."
at this point Katsuki has heard all he needed to hear. he knows Deku is not going to listen. he knows that Deku believes that he can't listen, because in Deku's mind he has a responsibility to handle this all on his own, and he's afraid of putting anyone else in danger. Deku is fully embracing the "I must walk this path alone" legacy of OFA, just like All Might before him. and so Katsuki knows two things:
in order to have any hope of reaching Deku, he has to get him to understand that the legacy he's embracing is deeply flawed, and that the path he's on right now is one which ends in death and defeat, just like it did the first seven times.
and second, Deku is going to fight them, because Deku is stubborn like that. and Deku thinks that he's doing this for them. and so in order to reach him, they will have to fight back. that's a done deal.
hence the jeer about OFA, along with the pointed remark about him not smiling. and then two seconds later Deku does of course reveal his intentions to fight, just like Katsuki knew he would. and so Katsuki accepts the challenge, and also throws in a bonus jab about how Deku is perfectly emulating All Might now, just as he always wanted -- except that what he's actually emulating are all of All Might's worst aspects. his insistence on carrying his burdens alone; his reluctance to accept anyone else's help; and of course, his determination to carry on to the bitter end until his body literally breaks down.
and that is not the fate that Katsuki wants for Deku. he needs Deku to see that this is the wrong path. he needs to find a way to break past his stubbornness, just like Deku did for him, and for Todoroki, and for so many others. and so he goes on the attack. because, in the same way that Deku is willing to fight them in order to save them, Katsuki is willing to do and say and fight anything and anyone in order to save Deku -- and that includes Deku himself.
so yeah. he knows what he's doing. and I am absolutely positive that everything he's doing and saying here does serve a purpose. he will find a way to reach him. literally all of his character development has been building to this moment. Deku saved him all those times so that now, when it matters the most, he can save him in return, and he's not going to fail him now.

hi !! i was wondering if i can request deku, bakugo, shoto, kiri, and shinso with an s/o that has a quirk that’s like toge inumaki’s cursed speech ??? thank you !! ♡
s/o with a cursed speech quirk
Tumblr media
featuring: midoriya, bakugo, todoroki, kirishima, and shinso
salmon. enjoy :)
midoriya didn’t want to be rude and ask why you wore a face mask like shoji, but chose not to speak. he thought it was odd given that most voice-related quirks still allowed the user to speak; it was an activation power. however, it seemed like you were more guarded about it than present mic would be. nevertheless, he wasn’t about to judge someone about how they look. being the friendly and bubbly boy that he was, he took it upon himself to talk to you, which is how he found out everything about your cursed speech. it was different from any other quirk that he had observed but you didn’t feel different from anyone else with an uncanny ability. he finds your surprising tenacity attractive and believes that a quirk like yours shouldn’t go unnoticed. you’re beautiful and wonderful to him and you deserve to hear it as much as anyone else.
bakugo thought you were just ignoring him when you wouldn’t respond to his incessant yelling. it wasn’t until you said, “don’t move” and effectively immobilized him in midair that he made the connection. he found himself becoming more and more curious about your ability and its potential. he’s definitely thought about how you could end a battle real quickly by simply telling someone to die. its the fact that you stood tall and fought to a fair end with it is what made him think differently about you. he had learned all your safe words and helped create more with you so he could communicate with you. even though you don’t talk that much, still like to tease him about how kind he can be in his own way. you may be a mute but you’re a cute mute who’s still a dumbass to him.
todoroki had underestimated your power, just like everyone else. he thought that you were pretentious for not talking and therefore made you better than others. little did he know that it was quite the opposite. he had eventually confronted you about it and when you showed him your tattoos, he finally understood. this is not an ability that someone would actively want because you could easily put them in danger. it’s a burden that you’ve had to carry your whole life but he doesn’t like you for your share of trauma. you’re very kind and lovely and funny at times. it was difficult for you to communicate at first because he hasn’t been known as the most talkative person but texting helps a lot. besides that, he’s comfortable laying with you in silence and you don’t even have to say ‘i love you’ to make him fall for you.
kirishima genuinely thought you were shy and somewhat aloof at first because you didn’t talk at all. once he saw you in combat and using your quirk, he thought that you were really amazing. that was when he started talking to you and even though you couldn’t speak in full sentences, he still found you interesting and worth listening to. when you started dating, you liked to write him little notes and leave them in places where he would find them at some point. he really loved that you did that and has secretly kept every one he’s found, reading them every night before he goes to bed. he thinks the tattoos by your mouth are really cool and he loves leaving sneaky kisses on them. even though you can’t speak, he still thinks you’re beautiful and amazing. he’s well assured of your feelings for him but strives to let his show more everyday.
shinso flat out didn’t trust you due to your muteness but was oddly allured by it at the same time. he observed you from afar for some time until he realized that you were not much of a threat at all. he felt stupid for thinking that you could have ulterior motives with not talking and wanted to apologize. but every time he tried to converse with you, you wouldn’t engage very much. he thought he was the issue until he saw what your quirk could do. it was similar to his in some regard and he quickly understood your wariness to others. you were never given much chance to explain yourself so he did it for you. that sparked a bond between you that was seemingly indestructible. you primarily used sign language to talk so he had tried to learn it. he learned enough to tell you how he really felt with an ‘i love you’ signed at the end.

MANGA CH. 284 SPOILERS
Tumblr media
OF REDEMPTIONS AND ATONEMENTS:
We all been knew, man. We all knew this was coming.
And godDAMN does it fucking HURT. (oh the sweet sweet angstfest this whole chapter is, just *chef's kiss*)
But i legit cannot put into words how deep the choice to 'Atone' cuts on my bleeding bkdk heart. Let's first take a step back and see how Katsuki went from DvK2 to here- that one keystone moment that has given us this beautiful chapter: And I meant ALLLL the way back to Chap. 252
Tumblr media
I have already written a whole-ass post based on this panel, which you can check Here.
TL;DR Katsuki was actually paying real close attention to Endeavour in this part. He came to Endeavour to learn exactly what he was missing as a Hero, but he learnt so much more.
This scene in particular left a momentous impact on Kacchan. Here, Natsuo is resistant to the idea of forgiving his father for all his sins just because he is more involved in their lives now. And Endeavour had been dreaming for a while about a Home where he is not present with the rest of the Todoroki's which ultimately gave him the idea of buying a house for the others to live in apart from him. This is HUGE. This is what actually drove Endeavour's Redemption home- the perfect understanding and the perfect compensation, the two elements of a brilliant Redemption Arc. NOT THE FORGIVENESS, just as Enji says it. It is NEVER ABOUT THE FORGIVENESS.
Endeavour understood that it was his presence that caused his family distress, and although he dearly wanted to be a part of his family again, was even making efforts towards it by being cordial and accepting of Shouto's friends, inviting them to a family dinner, etc. etc. Endeavour realized the only way he can compensate/atone was to give up something that would cause him suffering, and them happiness. The idea that your family doesnt want you, when you just started to show some effort and HOPE that they might see you in different light, maybe forgive you and then to just terminate those ties entirely, punting yourself into a void where NO ONE CAN COME IN AND SAVE YOU FROM YOUR SUFFERING, is exactly what Endeavour did. He is actively shutting down the ONE window through which his family could see that he was suffering, and miserable, and wanted to be a part of the family again. Endeavour CHOSE to not be forgiven. To writhe with the knowledge of his sins day in and day out with only the shrine of Dabi Touya to haunt him every waking minute.
I cannot explain just how much determination it takes to do that, man. It's just- WOW.
Excuse me for ranting on Endeavour in a bkdk post, but I swear this has a point. And All Might says this the best:
Tumblr media
This is the fanlation, the official release (which I couldnt get my hands on) also mentions that "When I meant you were like Endeavour, I meant the Change"
This here is an important bit that AM has caught onto.
In the 252 panel, where Endeavour says 'It's not like I want forgiveness' (Because Endeavour understands he cannot be, should not be, forgiven) "I just want to make up for everything I have done" (and to back this up, Endeavour shuts down the one communication link that could have offered him forgiveness, and thus salvation from the weight of his sins and his guilt)
Katsuki understood Endeavour's idea of redemption very well here, although he might not be shown with that light-bulb moment. He may have already known this wayyy before Endeavour said anything, but those words lent a solidity and to the path he must persue to acheive redemption: And it's Not forgiveness.
Let me tell you why I think Atonement is the greater factor here, even greater than Redemption itself. Redemption has an end-point: Forgiveness. But Atonement doesn't. Atonement has no expiry date. Atonement is purely propelled by the understanding of self, and the weight of guilt the self bears, whereas a Redemption is All About The Forgiveness.
Forgiveness is an external force, it may or may not be given to you and that is completely up to the person who has been wronged. Atonement is self-imposed, it is a meditation of the soul to forgive itself against the guilt it carries.
If Redemption is a marathon with a banner at the finish line, Atonement is trying to drag a twenty pounds of rocks through the Sahara desert without water, food or a compass- it's endless, hopeless.
And this is why Atonement is greater than Redemption.
And do you think someone as stubborn as Kastuki will ever find himself atoned of his deeds? No. And That, my friends, is The Point. In 252, when Endeavour says, "I dont want forgiveness" it's not just him saying it- it's also Katsuki. "I just want to make it upto you", is also Katsuki.
And to prove it, Katsuki will never ask for forgiveness. A verbal apology will be nice, sure. Especially since dumb-ass, gay-ass, 'Kacchan-sugoi' ass Izuku Doesn't even See it as Atonement. He is just #Blessed that Kacchan and he can talk almost-naturally again. And that is also Katsuki's intention- because the moment Izuku knows, he won't be able to atone this way anymore.
So, as much as I HATE to say this, the chances of a voluntary verbal apology are slim. If allowed to go on like this, Kacchan with continue to shadow Izuku through his life, worrying about him, LOSING SLEEP OVER HIM :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOK AT THOSE BAGS UNDER HIS EYES. /*shoves panels in yo face*/LOOK
Can you believe this bitch-ass gremlin who goes to sleep at 8:30 got bags just from stressing over his Deku??????
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOK AT HIM DOING A HECCIN' MAJOR KOKORO-STOPPING CONCERN.
(He is flipping his shit because he worries, and he worries so much, and has worried for him for a long LONG time.)
- Katsuki will continue on this path of being Izuku's support.
Forever if it takes.
Forever, he hopes, it takes-
Because the only way he will stop is in death, either his own or Deku's.
This is his Atonement: To undo everything he once did, to support Izuku's dream instead of squashing it; To help him get stronger instead of perpetuating the narrative on his weakness; To protect him from all harm, when he once hurt; To be on his side when the whole world is against him, because once he was all, but, for him; To save Izuku as he wins, to win as he saves.
And, To deny each oppurtunity of forgiveness even as he desperately longs to be unburdened of his guilt.
Because Katsuki knows:
Tumblr media
He knows Izuku is that one of a million, he is kind and humble and considerate and loving to a fault.
Katsuki knows that Izuku will forgive him in a heartbeat. That is just the kind of selfless, beautiful person he is.
Unlike Endeavour, who had no guarantee to forgiveness, Katsuki does. And that is what makes Katsuki's Atonement more powerful than Endeavour's. He recognizes it is in his grasp, just an arm's length away...
Tumblr media
....Just an arm's length.
And Katsuki will deny himself that. Because he does not believe he deserves it. He hasn't atoned enough for it.
"Keep At Arm's Length"
He says. Because this is the critical distance between them. Not "Stay an arm's length away", because Katsuki doesn't wanna run away from Deku, and he doesn't want to be too far away to protect him, nor does he want to get too close to finally recieve the forgiveness that will give him salvation.
This is the fine balancing act Katsuki must maintain indefintely till he believes he has acheived his idea of atonement. (And when has he ever been happy just the bare minimum?)
I know I said Katsuki will never ask for forgiveness, and a voluntary verbal apology is very unlikely, because in it's very nature, it is inviting a forgiveness from Izuku, which we have established, Katsuki wants to avoid. And if this were any other manga, we would have been doomed to this conclusion. But, there is a scenario when Katsuki might issue a verbal apology and that is when Katsuki knows there isn't enough time to be forgiven in turn, or, hasn't atoned enough and can no longer continue to.
Like when Katsuki launches off, to deliver a final kamikaze blow to a villain, and he has only enough time to tell Deku a short "I am sorry", but not enough time to wait for a reply. Or when Deku is dying and at his final moments, when Katsuki knows however much he has atoned isn't enough and isn't how Deku should leave, without closure.
Whatever the future may hold, my dear readers, Katsuki still has a long, long way to go. And I hope to see him live through everything, to be there -
To survive these wars with Deku, To fight alongside him, To protect him. To win. To save.
To Live.
To hear Deku say "I had forgiven you a long time ago";
and ofcourse,
To forgive himself.

Dimples (My Hero Academia)
Primary Universe
Tumblr media
This was the cutest idea ever, oh my gosh! I loved writing this one! So much cute, wholesome fluff! Enjoy! <3
~
“Dude!” Kaminari snatched something off of Deku’s dresser in his bedroom. The green-haired hero turned to look at him. “Bakugou had dimples as a kid?”
Deku smiled. “Oh, yeah.” He glanced over the blonde’s shoulder to see the picture taken of him and Kacchan when they were in elementary school and still kind of friends. It was right after Bakugou had gotten his quirk but before he started being a real bully. It was one of the last pictures they’d taken together where Kacchan was actually smiling. “I forgot about that.”
“Does he still have them?”
“Uh, well…” Deku shrugged, going back to searching for his history notes, which he’d promised to let Kaminari copy. “You’d probably know better than me.”
“I would?” Kami put the framed photo back on Deku’s dresser, frowning. “Why?”
“Because…you know. You guys are better friends than we are nowadays.”
“That doesn’t mean I see him smile any more than you do.”
Deku shrugged again. “You’d have a better time of it.”
Kami smirked. “You could just tickle him, you know.”
“He’s not comfortable enough with me for me to do that.” Deku found the notes, thrust them at Kami, and started ushering him back to the door. “Here you go. Good luck with your studying.”
“Wait, hold up,” Kami said, trying to look at him as he stumbled forward. “He’s not comfortable with you? But you guys have known each other—”
“It doesn’t matter to him. We haven’t really been friends in a long time.” Deku pushed him out into the hall, perhaps harder than he meant to. “It’s okay. At least he has you guys. Night!”
Kami blinked at the suddenly closed door in front of him.
All of a sudden, history homework was the last thing on his mind.
A minute later, he was bursting open the door of Kirishima’s room. “Kiri! Bakugou has dimples!”
Kiri jumped out of his seat, startled. He put a hand to his racing heart when he realized it was only Denki. “Jeez, man, you gave me a heart attack. What’s this about dimples?”
“Bakugou!” Denki insisted. “He had dimples as a kid. We gotta figure out if he still has them!”
Kiri chuckled. “Let me guess. You want to tickle him to see for yourself? Don’t you think between the four of us we would have noticed if he still had dimples by now? All of us have tickled him at least once already. Dimples are kind of obvious.”
“Not to me.” Denki pouted. “I haven’t been looking for them. I want to know! Come on, Kiri!”
“I’m not sure tickling is going to really help you out this time, Denki,” Kiri replied, sitting back down at his desk. “But I’m not going to stop you from trying, so go for it.”
Still pouting about the fact that Kiri didn’t seem willing to join him in this adventure, Denki left his room and went to visit Sero. As it happened, he and Mina were studying together already.
“Hey, Denki!” Mina greeted. “Want to join us? We’re covering history.”
He really should have, but right now he had other things on his mind.
“Guys,” he said, “did you know that Bakugou used to have dimples?”
*
The next morning, Bakugou opened his bedroom door with the intention of traveling down to the shared bathroom on his floor when all of a sudden there was a flash of yellow hair and he found himself giggling uncontrollably, being pushed right back into his room with his door closing once again. It took him a few seconds to process what was happening.
“Kaminari!” He yelled, pushing roughly at the electric hero. “Dahahahang it, whahahat are you dohohohohoing? It’s too ehehehehearly for this crahahahahap! Stop it!”
Denki seemed to be watching him intently, holding his ground enough that Bakugou actually started to fall to his knees from the sensations.
“Frick – stahahahahahahap!” He tried punching him. “Kaminari, cut it ohohohohout!”
“Aw, man,” Denki said at last, finally stopping his attack and looking upset. “I wanted to see if you still had dimples.”
“Dimples?” Bakugou practically spat the word, trying to regain some composure. “What the heck are you talking about?”
“I saw a picture of you and Midoriya when you were kids, and you had dimples in the photo,” Denki explained. “I really hoped you still had them.”
“Ugh, that stupid nerd.”
“Hey, Midoriya didn’t volunteer the picture or anything. It just happened to be sitting out where I could see it.” Denki felt the need to defend his friend, especially considering what he’d heard yesterday. “It’s not like he went out of his way to tell me about it.”
“Whatever, you idiot.” Bakugou grabbed his arm and hauled him to the door, opening it and shoving him out of his personal space. “I don’t have them anymore, so you can stop obsessing about it now. Jeez.” He huffed as he resumed his path to his original destination, but in the back of his mind something was nagging at him. The photo was just…out for him to see? Does he have it on his desk or something? Why would Deku do that?
*
Later that same day, as they were walking back to the dorms after school, Bakugou once again found himself being spontaneously attacked – this time by Mina and Sero in tandem. They both grabbed an arm, lifted it above his head, and went straight for his ribs.
“GAH!!” Bakugou shouted, struggling to remain upright as laughter spilled past him without control or permission. “NO!! Kahahahahahaminari already trihihihihied this! I d-dohohohohohon’t have dihihihihihimples anymohohohore!” He tried kicking them. “Stohohohohohohop!”
“Well, he didn’t tell us anything about it,” Mina shot back with a smile. “So we’re finding out for ourselves.”
“Yeah!” Sero found the sweet spot, making Bakugou shriek. “So far it looks like he’s right, though. I don’t see any dimples, do you?”
“No.” Mina sounded disappointed.
“STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!!” Bakugou yelled, struggling wildly.
They both let him go, and the blonde shot his arms back down to his sides, his face flushed from the sudden tickle attack. He growled. “You idiots all need to communicate better! I don’t have dimples anymore, and you know how I feel about being tickled in public. Back off!”
Mina grinned and nudged him. “Oh, come on. Don’t be so grumpy about it. We just thought it would be cute if you did still have them, that’s all.”
“Cute?” Bakugou gagged. “Give me a break.”
*
That evening, there was a knock on his door. Bakugou had had just about enough of this. “What?” he snapped, groaning when he saw a head of red hair enter his room. “Come on, not you, too.”
Kirishima laughed, closing the door behind him. “They all tried to jump you today, didn’t they? I had a feeling.”
“You knew about this?” Bakugou got to his feet. “Why didn’t you stop them? Or at the very least, why didn’t you warn me?!”
“Because we like tickling you, duh.” Kiri grinned. “I wasn’t going to stop them from having their fun. Besides, it’s not like they tickled you for more than a minute each time, right?”
Bakugou growled. “That’s not the point.”
“Uh-huh.” Kirishima titled his head, still grinning mischievously. “So none of them figured it out?”
“Figured what out?”
“How to make your dimples show up.”
“I don’t have dimples anymore!” Bakugou snapped, then paused when he saw the glint in his friend’s eyes. “I…hold on, what are you…?” He took a step back. “No, I’ve already been tickled enough today!”
“Oh, come on.” Kirishima lunged for him before he could make a break for it, going for his sides rather than his ribs to keep him giggling and weakened but not completely helpless yet. “Everyone else got their minute. Why can’t I have mine?”
“S-Stohohohohohop!” Bakugou yelped when Kiri managed to push him down onto his mattress. “Dohohohohohon’t! Yohohohohou’ll go for lohohohohonger than a mihihihihinute!”
“I’ll go as long as I need to for your dimples to show up, buddy.”
Bakugou tried to kick Kiri, but the redhead pinned his legs down with his hardening quirk and moved up to his lower ribs, making the blonde squeal and curl in on himself with uncontrollable giggles. “I dohohohohohon’t hahahahahave--!”
“Yes, you do.” Kiri grinned, reaching for his phone while Bakugou was distracted. Once he was certain his friend wouldn’t try anything again, he moved back down to his sides and scribbled lightly, just enough to make the explosive teen smile wide and let out a few giggles but not enough to really torture him. He snapped his picture, then finally let Bakugou go.
“Y-You…jerk,” he huffed, still smiling a little. “I hate you.”
Kirishima pushed a few buttons on his phone. “Uh-huh. Oh, and by the way…” He held up the screen for his friend to see, enjoying the look of shocked embarrassment that came over the blonde. “Dimples.”
“Kirishima!” Bakugou roared, lunging for the phone. “Delete that! Delete it now!”
Kirishima laughed. “Okay, okay! I’ll delete it! Chill out!”
*
Deku’s phone buzzed on the desk beside him, startling him out of his reverie. He opened up the text message and gasped aloud. It was from Kirishima, but had been forwarded to him by Kaminari. He couldn’t help grinning at the picture of Bakugou with messy hair, flushed cheeks, a wide smile…and dimples. Just as cute today as when they were kids.

Some notes for a KiriBaku AU that I would love to write one day but probably won’t ever find the time to, so here’s the barebones outline for it at least because I thought it was a fun idea! :,D
Lady & the Tramp
Gentleman and the Tramp
- Eijirou has always lived a comfortable lifestyle. He’s always had food in his belly and a roof over his head and a fireplace to huddle around during cold bitter nights. His parents’ marriage was filled with love and their house was filled with warmth and, with a new baby sister on the way, things were looking pretty good for him.
- Katsuki hasn’t known such comfort since he was a young boy, when his mom was arrested for something he didn’t even know what cause he was too young to have coherent thoughts yet and his father cracked under the pressure of being a single parent to an explosively rebellious child. The streets weren’t ideal, but Katsuki grew up tougher than his old man and more intelligent than what was for his own good, and so he made the most of it.
- Eijirou’s close friends are Denki /a local artist/ and Sero /a general store clerk/ who regularly visit with him at his house.
- Katsuki would say that he doesn’t have friends but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t begrudgingly accept the friendship of an overly zealous newspaper boy by the name of Deku, who mentions to him one day how the wealthy Kirishima family is expecting another child.
- Katsuki comments that he doesn’t see how that could possibly be news to anyone, until later that day when he overhears a rather disturbing conversation about how someone is planning on kidnapping the baby for ransom.
- “A yuppy family like that’ll no doubt pay extra-”
- “double,”
- “triple!”
- Intrigued by all the commotion, Katsuki visits the Kirishima Mansion, eyeing the picturesque Japanese gardens with some underlying prejudice and the perfectly manicured yards with barely contained disgust. A real run-of-the-mill, too fancy for their own good establishment; Katsuki’s finding it hard to gather any sort of sympathy for them.
- While observing the manor in all its glory, Katsuki overhears Eijirou speaking with Denki and Sero about the new baby and how excited they all are for its arrival. Unable to help himself from chiming in with his own opinion, Katsuki comments how bringing another child into the world when there are already so many on the streets that need homes could be seen as the utmost snobby act of privilege shown by the upper class. A real kick in the groin to those struggling to make ends meet out in the real world.
- Denki and Sero are immediately put off by Katsuki’s cynicism and tell him to slink back to the grimy part of the city where he came from, but something about his speech gave Eijirou pause. He’s never met a man as bold and bitter as Katsuki, and the abrupt change in perspective is baffling to him.
- Katsuki holds his chin up high following an ominous warning to “keep that spoiled little brat with the silver spoon you’ll shove in its mouth under close supervision” before he finally takes his leave.
- Eijirou soon forgets this strange encounter, as a few months later his new sister is born. Eijirou takes on a lot of the responsibility - feeding and changing and wholeheartedly enthusiastic to learn the ins-and-outs of parenting. He’s seen the amount of stress the pregnancy had on his mother, and he wants to help, so he offers that they go on a vacation and leave the baby with him.
- Unwilling to leave their infant with their teen son, the Kirishima’s hire a nanny service to help with the upkeep. Eijirou knows it’s rude not to like someone based on prejudice, but he’s got an uneasy feeling about Himiko Toga. He can’t pinpoint exactly what it is. She’s fairly sweet upon first introductions and seems capable enough, but Eijirou can’t really figure out that look in her eyes whenever she’s holding his sister, like she’s thinking about darting out the door and taking off with her or something just as silly.
- That dumb street boy must have really gotten in his head.
- Reluctant to leave his sister in the care of a stranger, but knowing that Eijirou has errands to run and that letting a random sitter take his parent’s credit cards probably wouldn’t be a very smart idea, he takes the plunge and sets off into town for the day to gather supplies and puts Himiko in charge.
- As he’s leaving the grocer, he stumbles across Katsuki again, who is being forcefully removed from a convenient shop down the street while a portly man reprimands him for stealing, barking out a stern “get a fucking job, street rat!” before slamming the door in his face. Katsuki flips the guy off and continues on his way with hardly a pause, and Eijirou knows that he’ll merely move onto the next place as his sharp red eyes are already searching for a new target.
- “Are you hungry?” Eijirou asks as he falls into step beside him. “I could get you something from the grocer!”
- “Don’t need your damn handouts, rich boy,” Katsuki is adamant to inform him that he doesn’t need any help.
- Eijirou is perplexed by this refusal. He’d just watched him get thrown out of a store and yet Katsuki’s confidence could have fooled the most common of men into believing he were the descent of some royal lineage.
- Still, Eijirou is just as stubborn as he is, maybe even more so. He can’t help but let it eat away at him; his family has lots of money to spare, he wouldn’t mind paying for some groceries, honest! But Katsuki is shrewd and proud... and yet oh-so very easily manipulated.
- Eijirou tells him that he’s looking a little on the skinny side, so he must not be very good at living on his own. Katsuki takes immediate offense to this statement and takes Eijirou around town as though to prove him wrong, showing him parts of the city that Eijirou has only heard about in books, taking him through the slums where a large portion of people greet Katsuki like family despite the cold shoulder he gives them in return.
- It’s clear that he’s done a lot for the community, in his own hot-headed ways. Teaching the young girls living in poverty how to properly defend themselves, sharing scarce food with whoever he comes across who looks like they haven’t gotten enough for themselves, standing up against the rich and the wretched who like to look their noses down on them for their misfortunes.
- Even with his hardened exterior, Eijirou is surprised to find just how warm a presence Katsuki can be. How freeing it is to wander the city and live without order or rules or a clock to keep track of time. It’s a liberating sensation to skinny-dip in the harbor despite all of the signs telling them that they weren’t allowed to, and to sneak into the junk yard to sit in an old muscle car listening to music, and to visit some wholesome family kitchens where they were treated to an array of new samples after it’s revealed that the owners knew Katsuki when he was just a baby - long before his mother was arrested and his father became the shell of the man he used to be - and they’ve always made it a priority to feed him whenever he happened to meander unknowingly into their neighborhood.
- Eijirou sees his beloved city through a brand new lens, and he likes what he sees. Musutafu has never looked more enticing and adventurous than it had been that night.
- Katsuki offers to walk Eijirou back to his ‘big ole mansion’ under the guise of added protection. “You’ll be fuckin’ mugged if you walk around lookin’ like that at this hour.”
- Eijirou thinks they might kiss once they reach the gate to his property, but he can sense the tension settling in Katsuki’s shoulders as they get closer to the abode, and a bitterness starts to grow on his face that chills the warmth they had begun to grow between them. Eijirou decides to ask him about what he meant when he said that they should keep a close eye on his sister after her birth, but Katsuki is evasive and avoids his gaze and doesn’t give him a straight answer.
- He’s hiding something, he knows more than he’s letting on.
- Eijirou tells him that there’s going to be a party at the Kirishima Mansion that weekend to celebrate the birth of his sister, and invites him to come for the food.
- Katsuki tells him not to hold his breath and leaves without another look back.
- Eijirou worries that he might have upset him somehow and goes back into town a few days later to try and find him, but even the family kitchen comments that they haven’t seen him around lately. He begins to think the worst until he meets Camie and Shouto, two teens from equally wealthy families who visit the Kirishima Mansion with their parents on the day of the party to meet the baby.
- As it turns out, both Camie and Shouto know Katsuki from school. Apparently, the Bakugous used to be pretty well-known and were fairly respected in the fashion industry before his mother’s very public meltdown and the destruction of the Bakugou legacy.
- Shouto explains how he used to attend lessons with Katsuki at the university, studying under their apprenticeship program, and how he has always had a raging temper, but that his dedication to his studies and resilience in his training were both very admirable traits. He’d dare even go as far to say that they were friends, at one point in time.
- Camie’s intel, on the other hand, is far more risqué and full of gossip.
- She tells Eijirou about how Katsuki was “a lone wolf who couldn’t tell you the definition of the word lonely,” hinting at a promiscuous past filled with midnight escapades of sneaking off campus to drink and roam around the city with whoever had fallen head-over-heels for his aloof charisma that month. She describes how he draws people in with the promise of mystery, and leaves them behind when his true aggressive nature is revealed after any amount of prolonged exposure.
- She should know, of course. She’s been there and done that before.
- ‘you can never tell when he’ll show up’ / ‘he gives you plenty of trouble’ / ‘I guess he’s just a no count pup’ / ‘but I wish that he were double’
- The overwhelming consensus is that Katsuki may have had a bright future at one point but, as Shouto comments, “Some are just luckier than others, and Bakugou’s luck ran out long ago.”
- Camie mentions Shouto’s older brother who went down a similar path, and Shouto’s only response to that is, “You can’t really save someone who doesn’t want to be saved...”
- As the party winds down and the guests start to leave, Eijirou can’t help but think about Katsuki. He’s a little put off to know that the day they had spent together in the city probably wasn’t the only round-trip adventure that Katsuki has gone on. He doesn’t even want to know how many others there have been, and he feels somewhat foolish for thinking that there was anything more between them than that.
- That night after all the guests are gone, Katsuki shows up in the back gardens.
- Eijirou doesn’t understand why he waited so long, and Katsuki explains how ‘those people’ wouldn’t want him there anyway and that it’s for the best. Eijirou is still a little jaded about everything he had learned from Shouto and Camie, and he tells Katsuki that he doesn’t have the time to be messing around with guys who don’t take him seriously and who don’t know how to take responsibility for themselves.
- Katsuki looks like he wants to say something, but instead he ends up leaving in a furious huff, and Eijirou believes that it’s the last time he’ll probably ever see him. He tries to remember Katsuki’s earlier words.
- It’s for the best.
- Even though it doesn’t really feel like it is.
- Unable to sleep in the middle of the night, Eijirou goes to check on his sister in her crib only to find that Himiko has invited two men over to the mansion; Dabi and Tomura. Eijirou catches them red-handed in the parlor as they’re attempting to steal valuable family heirlooms and making a plan to kidnap the baby for ransom later.
- Eijirou fights with everything he has in him to stop them, but it’s three against one and he never really stood a chance. Himiko disappears upstairs to grab the baby while Dabi and Tomura deal with Eijirou, brandishing knives without any intentions of holding back.
- Katsuki arrives after breaking in through the kitchen, having kept tabs on the growing rumors around the city that a group of assholes were planning on kidnapping the baby girl, and he helps Eijirou fight off Dabi and Tomura, who escape into the night with Himiko when it’s obvious that their attempt has failed.
- The police arrive on the scene shortly after, and it’s Katsuki who takes the hit in the fallout of everything, arrested for petty theft and breaking & entering despite Eijirou’s adamant arguing against it.
- The police aren’t interested in hearing his side of the story, though.
- One act of kindness doesn’t expunge a man of several years worth of crime.
- Katsuki is taken into custody and shipped off to the station, and Eijirou is left behind to clean up the mess and tend to his sister.
- When his parents fly back into the city the next morning following the news of the attempted kidnapping, Eijirou recounts the events of the past week to them, and shortly after their arrival from the airport they go to the station together to pay off Katsuki’s bail.
- Katsuki is resistant at first, unfamiliar with this type of treatment and reluctant to accept it, but Eijirou tells him how grateful he is that he had been there that night, and believes that everyone deserves a second chance, even someone as jagged and prickly as Katsuki.
- The Kirishimas make a few sizeable donations to the city and the family kitchen from before in Katsuki’s honor, boasting about his heroicism and how their family is indebted to him, and Katsuki finds himself back in their neighborhood more often than not to attend cookouts and charity events.
- He still feels out of place in their fancy home, and he’s not so great with Eijirou’s sister, but he tries to make an effort, he works hard to make the most of it, and Eijirou would never ask anything more from him than that.

Mha relationship headcanons (Class 1-A)
Guess I’m doing headcanons now
(In order of seats cause it’s the first photo order on Google lol)
Gn reader
Yuuga Aoyama
He will lazer anyone who even dares to make fun of them
Always in need of attention
ALWAYS
if y/n is boing homework or something at their desk he’ll just dramatically sit down in their lap
“wHy aReN’t yOu PAyinG aTtENTion tO yOUr pReTtY bOYFriEnd?????”
“My little star” ❤️
Compliment wars
Y/n will compliment him once like “hey your hairs really soft today”
Shots fired
He is a rich kid and no one can convince me other wise
So one day he just randomly buys them like thousand dollar jeans and they just sit there like “???????????????? I mean thank you so much I love it but like ????????????”
Mina Ashido
Yeah she doesn’t have any hoodies anymore
“Girls” night is very important where it’s basically every other night where they sleep in each other’s dorm rooms but instead of going to sleep at 1am they go to sleep at 6am on a Friday
Every morning she puts a ridiculous amount of makeup on y/n and y/n the whole time is like “I am totally willing to go to school like this”
But by the end Mina just wipes it all off :(
Brags about each other CONSTANTLY
Kirishima and Kaminari made a whole mix tap of Bakugo telling them to shut up about each other
With Kaminari’s crappy beat boxing ✨
They both go to Momo’s dorm and all study together (let’s be real they aren’t really studying just kidding around) all the time
(If a female y/n) They get their periods at the same time and it’s so miserable cause they can’t take care of each other 💔
If Mineta hits on either one??
The next day the other will ask to train with him and he’ll think someone finally likes him back but turns out they were just trying to beat him up for revenge
Tsuyu Asui
HATES PDA
DON’T YOU DARE HOLD HER HAND NO
Headcanon she’s aromatic (aromatics can still want a romantic relationship with someone and fall in love and stuff, it’s just really unlikely) (feel free to tell me how it works; I’m in the community but haven’t done a large amount of research on aromatics)
Random compliments
Just randomly “hey *ribbit* your outfits really nice today”
💙 swimming dates or going to the pond💙
Double dates with the rest of the Dekusquad couples
Loudly cheers each other on in training
Y/n gives Tsu a frog plush and she’s to scared to sleep with it thinking she’ll drool on it or something so it’s on a shelf that only has special items
Remembers every little thing like they could say they needs to do something in a few months and Tsu will remind them
Eat Bento Boxes together at lunch all the time 🍱
Once y/n was like “what do I feed the pond frogs?????” And Tsu went on a long rant about how to handle frogs
She has a passion okay
Sends goodnight texts at like 8:30 and y/n finds it hilarious that she literally goes to bed at 8:30
(When they finds out about Bakugo they laughs at him and Deku mutters “he deserves it”)
“I love you” *internal panic, like that one spongebob scenes in his head where there’s a ton of little sponge bobs burning stuff* “uhhh um uh thanks” “WAIT IM SO SORRY I LOVE YOU TO SO MUCH” *bursts into laughter*
Tenya Iida
Study dates where they lose track of time and accidentally stay up till two in the morning
Definition of slow burn
Literally, for two years he clearly had a crush on them but didn’t realize it and at some point Deku and generally the whole Dekusquad got tired of it and Ochaco just yelled at him one day “YOU LITERALLY LIKE Y/N HOW DO YOU NOT NOTICE?!?!?”
He just like o ^ 0
Literally plans every date for weeks
He doesn’t love physical affection, he likes it just not all the time, prefers giving gifts and time to each other
Best listeners ever
(Slightly angsty headcanon) one time he had pulled a bunch of all nighters studying and failed a test from not taking in the info and cried and y/n comforted him :(
Literally thanks the universe every night for y/n because he’s a sweetheart
When his brother gets forced into retirement y/n comforts him SO HARD
Y/n would low key be on board with the “murder stain” plan if Iida told them
Cause they are best friends with his brother
When they first got together and they meet each other they thought he was super intimidating cause he’s the “if you break his heart I’ll break your nose” type but then became really good friends because of how each of them care for Iida (well that was what started it)
Doesn’t get jealous whatsoever
Y/n could literally kiss some guys hand or cheek and he’s just like “their a really friendly person and I trust them”
Arguments on who’s gonna pay for dinner lol and then he’s just like
“Oh my god what we split the Bill” like he just had the best smartest idea ever
And y/n’s like “ :0 that such A good idea!!!!!” Cause they are both semi himbo
Ochako Uraraka
As soon as Ochako said she was poor y/n just started randomly giving her money
“Hey Ochako how’s your day” “oh good good you” “yeah I’m doin good anyways here’s fifty dollars”
She makes y/n a ton of hand made gifts and likes baking for them (I headcanon that she likes baking uwu)
If she buys y/n anything they know she was saving up for it and appreciates the heck out of it
Volunteers at the family business all the time 😌
Her bed is covered in stuffed animals and when she misses y/n she cuddles up to them and y/n find it so sad yet adorable
They would be nervous to tell anyone so it would be a secret for a while
Until one day Deku asks if Ochako wants to study with him and Iida and find them cuddling while reading
He definitely freaks out and blush’s but tells no one
After a few months they do tell the class tho they supportive
Okay the whole Dekusquad and y/n calls All Might Dad
When their older they go to pride parades (even if it’s not a lgbtq relationship) and wear “free mom/ dad/ parent hug” shirt and it’s adorable
Constantly touching each other
Could be hugging or hand holding or even as little as just having their hand on the others shoulder
Both find it werid how they somehow have the same taste in music
Part 1 (gonna be four parts lol wanna do the whole class)

A post for some BAMF Izuku fics <3 (more of these will be added and the list will be updated as i read them)
Fics i've read:
The Secret Ingredient is Crime- Izuku only had a whole month to further prove himself worthy of Yuuei's golden acceptance, and he was going to do whatever it took to make it in. Yuuei would never truly know what hit them until it was too late. (The secret crime AU in it entirety is fucking amazing and what wouldn't i give to read more stuff with it)
Deku the Villain Hunter: Support Hero - We all know the story: After being told he couldn't be a Hero by All Might, Midoriya Izuku still wandered over to a supervillain attack where he could save Bakugou Katsuki. But what if he had made the other turn? The answer is a butterfly effect that would lead him on a path to paving his own future. A path of revenge, finding his own moral compass, and doing the impossible. (OKAY MANY THOUGHTS. Very cool story and aspects. I binged it overnight and lost a bit of sleep the next night as well.)
The Story of How Midoriya Izuku Asserted His Dominance (And Traumatized Japan) - The Sports Festival was supposed to be a break from stress. Shouta should have known there is no such thing as a break with his class.
making it right (for real this time) - - Izuku is a support course student at UA, and Katsuki's neighbor, best friend, and former bullying victim. After Izuku's performance at the sports festival, Katsuki realizes something. He has to make things right. -
Hero Fall (UA Civil War Exercise) - It's now the end of the first year of UA for our students. Nedzu had decided to bring back the annual Heroes vs Villain fight. The fight shall last 5 days and the villain leader is Izuku Midoriya, with the commanding officer of the hero team being Katsuki Bakugo. But, what happens when Izuku is left alone?
Hero Class Civil Warfare - Heroes lead by Bakugo. Villains lead by Midoriya. Seven days prep time. Three days for Izuku Midoriya to show why they should be glad he's not a real villain.
"I Didn't Know You Had It In You." - Midoriya goes feral rage mode in his fight against Overhaul. The beat down still happens, but with Eri no longer at his back, he gets more violent. One For All reacts in an interesting way and Midoriya commits a terrible and unheroic act - the cold blooded murder and maiming of Chisaki Kai. Shigaraki is there to watch it all unfold.
Plan C meets Plan A - Even if All Might is right and Izuku can't be a hero, Izuku refuses to be useless. So Izuku uses his analysis skills to develop Plan C: Consulting in order to help the heroes. Eraserhead is impressed by this mysterious new consultant but alarm bells in Deku's behaviour quickly have Aizawa recruiting help for Plan A: Adoption.
Q. A. B. - One month after @hawks_unofficial's initial viral post, the blog titled "Quirk Analysis Blog for the Future", otherwise known as "Q. A. B.", has gone from an average of 10 views per post to an average of 20,000 views per post. Midoriya Izuku does not know how to view the impressions analysis for his suddenly popular blog, and only notices that sometimes, people actually comment on his posts now. He does not google himself or his moniker and thus does not see the rise in online articles and speculation. He is unaware that the "kyuu-ei-bee" he begins to hear about in passing refers to his own blog. He does not have a Twitter account. At the time, Midoriya Izuku is 15 years old.
How to murder your father - It's dangerous to be a bad father when you have a life insurance. Just saying.
Negation - Passive Quirks are a bitch. Izuku is reasonably done with the situation.
Thanks For Your Support - Izuku has the talent and the intellect to be the first Quirkless pro hero, and everyone at UA knows it. Unfortunately, his desire to become a hero has long since been buried thanks to the words of his childhood friend and childhood hero.
Policed To Meet You - Izuku takes All Might's advice and becomes a cop.
Vigilante Work And Other After School Activities - Izuku is a vigilante, Aizawa likes cats and therefore kids who help cats, and sometimes breaks must be forced upon overachieving teenagers.
When the Commission Lost Total Control - The hero polls have a small part where one can suggest their own hero. This is done just because of the amount of heroes is to great to name them all. This creates a little problem for the commission because a vigilante is assumed to be a brand new hero by the public- and ranks pretty high. Because of that, this vigilante now is too popular to hide and they can't come out with their mistake either! Think of the chaos that would bring.
Izuku being Badass but like in not that grand of a way but still tearing-people-down-in-some-way kind of way
He Was Quirkless - Midoriya get's sick of discrimination against the quirkless and decides to do something about it. It leads to some interesting situations. A trilogy.
bloody, but unbowed- It's Advocacy Week for Yuuei's hero students and it gives Midoriya Izuku a lot to think about about what kind of hero he wants Deku to be.
Called Out - When Izuku is hit by a quirk that will cause him to call out the first person to be rude to him on the way to school with every mistake they've made in the affected persons presence or have otherwise effected said affected person, Aizawa is in for a rough ride. In other words, with some help from a quirk, Izuku rakes Aizawa over the hot coals until he gives out. (a great fic but i've got mixed feelings on this one because on one hand, izuku is badass but on the other its Aizawa bashing and really like him skhdskdb so yea! Read it as per your tastes!!)
The time when everyone learned that izuku respects Bakugo more than all might. - I didn't like how Bakugo was tied up during the sports festival and so izuku didn't. Badass izuku roasted all might and midnight.
Villainous Sunshine - After an innocent question, Class 1-A learns just how terrifying Izuku's analysis is. Nedzu's along for the ride.
Never understand ( and you can't ) - Midoriya is sick and tried of his classmates bias and prejudice against the quirkless community and finally breaks
Mastermind: Strategist For Hire - Izuku Midoriya never got the chance to save Bakugo from the sludge villain and impress All Might. With his dream crushed, Izuku becomes bitter and angry. It also doesn't help that he faces discrimination at every turn. All he ever wanted was to be appreciated, so when the villains are the ones to recognize his talents rather than the heroes, well, Izuku just can't resist. He might as well help those who actually want him around. Mistakes were made, and now society must face a villain of their own making: Mastermind.
Malignance - Deku is far scarier than anyone gives him credit for.
Fics in my to read list which has/probably has BAMF izuku
Young Midoriya - Izuku Midoriya couldn't help himself when he saw someone in trouble. Even at 12 years old, his instincts drive him to help those in need. So when he sees Kacchan and his goons about to ambush another student, he has to step in, right? It's not like this hasn't happened before. What is different this time though, is that he's never had an audience that consisted of the Number One Hero.
Heroics and Other Things That Don't Require Superpowers - Izuku doesn't have a quirk. That's the long and short of it. After being told his whole life he can't be a hero, General Education at UA is the best he can hope for, right? Wrong. Dead Wrong. So super wrong that his best friend from Gen Ed, all of Class 1A and a whole mess of Pro Heroes are going to prove to him how wrong he is. Izuku has the makings of a hero, and his lack of a quirk only throws those qualities into starker relief. After all, who wants to be as strong as All Might when you can be the cleverest hero in the business?
Cases of More Than - Izuku is known as Deku online. He's an analyst of quirks, sometimes even working with the local detective, Tsukauchi, on a case. He meets new friends, builds a few relationships, and slowly crushes on his best friend. But then he's thrown into the General Studies Course at U.A. It doesn't help that All for One is showing an interest in him at all.
No Regret - In this world there is no hard set villain or hero. No victim and aggressor. Everyone is at fault for something and Izuku, with his own villain group, will make everyone pay. Even the bystanders who did nothing. This is what society gets for abandoning it's people. Deku will manipulate everyone and be the greatest villain, all so the world can be a better a place. With the stakes so high there is no time for regret.
We Are a Different Kind - Mirio doesn’t think he can be a hero anymore now that he’s quirkless, Izuku calls bullshit.
Live a Hero - "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." Or, you're raised a villain, rebel when you're nine, and fight against the odds to become a hero anyway. That's how it is in Izuku's case.
Prodigal - After being convinced to give One for All to Mirio, Midoriya Izuku must rebuild his shattered dreams with bloody hands.
Two Sides of the Same Coin: Vigilante - Izuku is orphaned at the age of four and is sent into the Japanese Foster Care System. After multiple failed attempts at finding a forever home and some unfortunate circumstance, he ends up on the streets. Eventually, the vigilante, Deku appears. Eraserhead must gain his trust to bring Deku back to the right side of the law. If he he does, however, the untrustful but pure-hearted boy may just be a bit more than Aizawa Shota can handle.
From Muddy Waters - - but the sleeve of his tracksuit was bulging, tearing and ripping and a mass of twisted flesh, nearly as big as the boy himself and nauseatingly familiar (the arm of the man that had torn a hole in his side with a grin and left him a frail shadow of himself) swung forward and slammed into the flat face of the giant robot. Izuku wants to be a hero more than anything.
Pieces are easily sacrificed when they're nameless - Nobody ever thought quirkless, weak, weird Midoriya Izuku was dangerous. This perception carried over to his first year high school class, because really despite the super strength Midoriya didn't have it in him to be dangerous. That was their first mistake. And the one that would see them fall.
Not exactly BAMF izuku but i just wanted to rec these fics <3
In the shade of a sunflower - Being biologically quirkless came more with an extra pinkie joint in the toes and a stunning lack of vestiges mutations. It came with smaller things, like extra teeth that did virtually nothing, exploding organs, and weird exposed nerves that weren't designed to feel pain.
Throat Punch - In which Aizawa attempts to teach Izuku how to use various battle tactics and it goes just about as well as you'd expect. At least Shinsou is there with his fantastic commentary. (just a fun lil thing where izuku is really stronk and trains with shinsou and aizawa)
So Be It - He could still do good. Midoriya could show them all what a hero without powers looked like. If he had to break a few rules to do it, so be it. So be it… (as stated not exactly BAMF but its a vigilante izuku so ye-)
Never Enter a Drinking Game with Bakugo or Izuku - Izuku walks in on Kirishima and Kaminari having a drinking competition (no alcohol involved). And it reminds him of an old story.
5 Times Midoriya Taught Class 1A about Memes and 1 Time they Found a Villain that Understood Them - After being diagnosed as quirkless, Midoriya gets into pre-guirk media and finds memes. He shares them with Class 1A. Aizawa doesn't get paid enough for this. (THIS FIC???? FUCKING AWESOME. LITERALLY WHAT I WANTED TO SEE)
Midoriya: JD Version - Nedzu has decided that a play should be put on so that the students can learn how to "go undercover", an idea which Aizawa thinks is utter bullshit. They're putting on Heathers and when Nedzu chooses to cast Midoriya for JD, everyone objects. Midoriya is a much better actor than they thought.
that is a lot!! I hope you have fun reading it!!!

bnha chapter 317 thoughts
haha b o i
Tumblr media
did I speak too soon?
Tumblr media
I spoke too soon. Also, yay! nagant is alive (barely)
mm well Deku has officially turned dark, like for real dark, buuuuuut in a way that is actually a natural progression of his character, because if you remember Horikoshi loves parallels, and what’s more obvious than the fact Deku has been trying to walk down the same path as All Might ever since he was told to ‘show himself’ to the world back during the School Festival arc, and then again with All Might’s famous “You’re next” line.
Tumblr media
It was a while ago when I read it, but I believe it was in vigilantes where we understand what All Might means by “You deserve to rest” and that he understands. I won’t go digging for that specific chapter lol, but in basically in the spin-off series bnha Vigilantes, we get glimpses of All Might in his prime.
In particular, we see that he really never stops to rest, constantly flying off to save as many people as he can because it’s a job “only he can do”. We even see Sir Nighteye (who is still All Might’s sidekick at the time) upset at the fact that All Might doesn’t even sleep, and while it’s somewhat played off as a gag aside from Sir Nighteye’s worry, we can see now that Deku is doing the exact same thing.
In any case, Deku’s believed since the War arc that as the wielder of One for All, its burden is his to carry, especially with the added pressure of the fact that he’s been told he may be the last user and must defeat AfO himself (because only a quirkless person may receive OfA without dying early, and quirkless-ness is very rare now)
There was no clear turning point, not really. It’s more that Deku is sinking himself deeper and deeper into his duty, to the point that he can’t see past the next job. He won’t eat like we see him do heartily earlier, he won’t even, in All Might’s words, look back at his mentor anymore.
AfO really managed to get under his skin with that video, and if there’s a way to describe Deku right now, it would be “staring straight ahead blindly”. He’s marching forward without thought for his surroundings, including his own self. In the previously ideal and bright hero world, this made All Might look heroic. But now in this grey, doubtful world:
Tumblr media
Deku is, literally and metaphorically, tearing himself apart. His hero costume gets more and more worn, and thus so is his image as a hero. On a side note, he looks super badass, but more importantly he looks like a dark version of All Might - like some sort of skewed or twisted version of the hero who always comes to save the day.
Aside from Deku, we get a little more insight on the status of heroes, namely the mass retirement. I actually sympathized with Death Arms, even though I saw some comments that he wasn’t a real hero. To be fair, what the heck is a ‘real hero’? Sure, a lot of heroes retired when the going got tough, you could say that the ones ‘in it for the money or the fame’ were weeded out, but what was Death Arms real reasoning for leaving? Yes, it got tough, but on top of the fact that it got tough, being a hero suddenly went from something of good status to a cursed position.
Tumblr media
This pretty much sums up the state of the hero world right now, which is that ‘heroes are humans’. This mass retirement was bound to happen, but what makes it troubling is what’s going on with Deku amongst all this. I don’t need to explain it, since the pro-heroes explained everything in that meet-up scene about how the media is closing in on Deku and a reveal of OfA would shove Deku into the cycle of negativity. So yeah, the fact that AfO hasn’t revealed OfA himself means he still has plans for Deku, ‘cause he doesn’t care about All Might anymore. All I can really imagine is AfO trying to get Deku on his side, or stealing OfA, I can’t wait for the next chapter so we can get some more insight.
Anywayy on a less serious note:
Tumblr media
Mount Lady is lookin super fine with that scar, but more than just aesthetic purposes the addition of scars and messier/dirtier costumes/settings is to keep with the more serious and dark tone. It allows us to take her seriously when before she was portrayed as a flirty/image-conscious hero. I kind of love of small design choices like that can change a character’s entire demeanor. Uhhh the closest example I can name in real life is when Canada’s prime minister Trudeau grew a beard. Lemme tell you, it did wonders in making him appear more serious and reliable during covid, as opposed to his earlier washy playboy looks.
Also, Stain is back! That weirdo. Uhhh he sure seems happy to see Deku still jumping to the rescue. Or maybe he’s just glad to see All Might, we all know he’s lowkey a fanboy. Urk, well in any case it’s definitely foreshadowing that there will be a potential confrontation between him and Deku.
aaaaand finally,
Tumblr media
lol how the turn tables, it’s Endeavor ghosting Shouto now. Also it’s lowkey cute how he immediately checks his phone whenever he hears a notification, man’s excited for any sort of communication with his son. Mmm but yea I was excited to get even a mention of Shouto, I hope we get to see what the Class 1-A kiddos are up to soon.
