A Dr Seuss Cake Smash (Before, During, and After)
When your child turns one it is an unspoken rule that they have to get messy with a smash cake. Check out Joshua's messy cake experience from beginning to end. Shout out to Hope Alvarez Photography for capturing these amazing photos!

Although Joshua got messy with his cupcake at his birthday party we decided that because we all made it through the year alive he deserved his own personal cake to destroy on camera. I Saw Beth Moore LIVE! | My Living Proof Live Experience
A week ago today I had the opportunity to attend a Beth Moore conference with my mom and one of my best friend's. It impacted all 3 of us in different ways and I decided I would document and share my experience with you guys! Check it out here! #LProof17
Beth Moore, in my opinion, is one of the most phenomenal speakers that I have had the honor to hear. I was raised listening to and participating in her bible studies. Oh, the perks of being a PK. For those of you who do not know, a PK is a Pastor’s Kid.  In fact, the first bible study my mom ever taught was Beth Moore’s, Daniel. I have done that particular bible study what feels like 5 billion…

Disclaimer: Items in this post were gifted for promotion. All thoughts and opinions are mine and mine alone! Also I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all the people at all the shops who helped make my monkey’s first birthday a memorable one! You are all very amazing shops and great people! THANK YOU
CLICK HERE to watch his birthday recap video.
The first birthday is important, or at least to me it was. My son may not remember the party we through for him but I sure will. Joshua Alexander Brock was born March 2, 2016 so it was only fitting that we threw him a Dr. Seuss themed birthday party, with all the invitations, decorations, and foods that you would find in the Seuss-verse. Here is how we celebrated this special day!
My birthday planning list was endless. First on this mama’s check list was INVITATIONS. I went to Etsy and searched and searched until I found the perfect invitations from Max And Mae Invites. Ashley was wonderful when it came to getting the designs ready and the best part about these invites is that they RHYME! I printed them for next to nothing at Walmart!
CLICK HERE to buy this invitation CLICK HERE to buy matching thank you’s CLICK HERE to visit Max And Mae Invites
Next on my list is decorations! No party is complete without banners and props. Dr. Seuss was a very easy theme to buy decorations for. For the majority of his decorations we filled the tables and house with different Seuss books and even had people sign Happy Birthday To You by Dr. Seuss as a way to document everyone who came to wish my little monkey a happy birthday.
Banners and banners galore. One tip I have for planning a party for a toddling child or even grown ones is do not, I repeat Do Not hang banners in their reach. They will rip them down and tear them apart before you can even take pictures of how lovely they are. Luckily I had some neat before shots of the prep for this amazing banner created by Vision 2 Images for this very special occasion!
CLICK HERE to check out Vision 2 Images site
Because we learn from our mistakes we decided to place our high chair banner from Celebrate Custom Event above his head out of arms reach so that he couldn’t tear it to shreds.. we are saving that strength for the presents haha.
CLICK HERE to buy the banner CLICK HERE to see all that banners and things that Celebrate Custom Events makes
My favorite decoration from Joshua’s party is from Switzers Sweets on Etsy. The reason why this is my favorite piece of decor is it can and will grow with him. The sign that we used on the gift table will be in his room for years and years to come. Oh Joshua, The Places You’ll Go… and the places this sign will go with you! The lovely people at Switzers Sweets have even given me a code for you guys to use if you would like to purchase anything from their shops! Use code BROCKBLOG to get 10% off of any order.
CLICK HERE to buy this sign CLICK HERE to see all the neat things Switzer Sweets has for sale right now
After decorations it was time to plan out the food. For inspiration I went to all my favorite books. We had everything. Green Eggs And Ham, Chips Salsa and Quac.. or as we called it The Grinch Dip, colorful goldfish served in a fish bowl decorated with Seuss Fish from Vision 2 Images for One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, a delectable fruit tray as Truffula Fruit, and lastly we had some delicious punch made by a friend of ours served in red solo cups inspired by Thing 1 and Thing 2!
The food tents were created and sent from Max And Mae Invites, CLICK HERE to buy them.
But wait there is more! More what? More FOOD! You can’t have a party without a cake or 50 tiny cakes (cupcakes). Our favorite place to buy baked goods is Market Street. We buy all of our cakes, cookies, and treats there.. it also helps that my husband and I met at Market Street. The cakes are quality taste but reasonably priced. Because Joshua is only one we figured that a cupcake cake would be best way to celebrate. We ordered fifty cupcakes, half white and half chocolate, to match the theme of his birthday with a mixture of buttercream and whipped icing for no more than $1.05 a cupcake, and it turned out to be the best cake I have ever seen! They also through in a free smash cake which you will be seeing in a future blog post!
Now for the little man of the day’s outfit!!!!!! It was so hard for me to find the perfect birthday outfit for him because let’s face it all that’s out there for boys is a T-shirt that has the number one and I wanted something different. Joshua’s birthday outfit was custom made by Cuddle Sleep Dream. The thing I love about Cuddle Sleep Dream is that they specialize in boys clothes and have the cutest birthday outfits with removable ties and bow ties. Trying to get a one year old to sit still with a lot of people around is some hard work so check out his outfit while he opens presents! Yes, we did attach a balloon to his suspenders. He enjoyed it!
CLICK HERE to go to Cuddle Sleep Dreams website
And Last but not least we have the photo booth! Everyone loves a good photo, especially when there are props involved. Vision 2 Images made us some custom made printable props that we just printed out and stuck to wooden skewers. Coming up with props was not a challenge we had to have Thing 1 and Thing 2 props as well as the Cat in the Hat.
CLICK HERE to go to Vision 2 Images website
As I was searching etsy for fun little decorations I found Z Party Of Three Shop. This Etsy shop specializes in making photo boards. You can custom make one for your party or event, but they also has some of their own ideas for sale. They had exactly what we were looking for in the shop so we didn’t need to make a custom order at all. We ordered a Dr Seuss Board with the Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2. We chose for the head hole to be placed where it was, you can choose which characters have face and which characters have a head hole. When we put Joshua up there it was the cutest thing, he was so excited.
CLICK HERE to buy this board CLICK HERE to visit Max And Mae Invites on Etsy
What is the favorite party you’ve thrown or experienced? Do you go big or keep it small? Also don’t forget to head over to my good friend Faith’s YouTube channel to see the video recap of Joshua’s Seuss-tastic Birthday Party!!!!!!

Raise Them Kind (GIVEAWAY)
Read here to see why raising your child to be kind should start early and how I am teaching my one year old to be kind! PLUS there are some amazing details on an awesome giveaway!
Kindness is a universal language that can be learned at a young age. My son is a year old and the way I act around him and treat him now will affect the person he becomes in the future. To be a kind person you need to see someone be kind. If you are raised in a toxic environment your actions as you grow older will most likely become toxic. Making the world a kinder place means raising your child…

Dealing With Mom Guilt | My Personal Struggle With Mom Guilt As A Stay At Home Mom
After a long battle with sickness and life happening I am back to writing. Check out the blog!
It has been one year since I held my son for the first time and the mom guilt is beginning to sink in. I feel guilty for feelings and situations that I had no control over. I was robbed of the first six months of my son’s life, the squishy stage as I like to call it. Those months are all a blur to me and it hurts. It hurts only having pictures and stories of my son’s birth but very little memory…

Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. -Mark Twain Recently the family car broke down and we sat in the Lowe’s parking lot for Three-ish hours. A baby strapped to my back and my husband trying to figure out why our car won’t start people just walked by like it was nothing. A handful of people looked our way but immediately turned their head when we noticed them. One…

Who is ready for the Mid-Season premiere of The Walking Dead?!?!!?! I know my house is! I went from not caring about this show, to falling madly in love with it. Are you and your significant other still behind on previous seasons or want to recap before Sunday? What better way to get in the Walking Dead mood than having a Walking Dead themed date night?!
I absolutely love fun date nights, especially when they include binge watching my favorite movies or TV shows! Whether you are making a day or a night out of it these ideas are for sure going to help get you and your partner in the mood for some zombie slaying!
ZOMBIE SURVIVAL KIT!
The perfect way to start of the date is providing you partner with their very own Zombie Survival Kit complete with food rations, hydration, a weapon, ammo, zombie spray to trick the zombies into thinking you are one of them while you relax with your love and binge The Walking Dead, and an extra energy supply so that you don’t get too tired and become zombie bate! Be sure you do this because all of these items are needed for the different date activities that are included.
Items You Will Need To Make This Happen: A Box  Zombie Survival Kit Printables Nerf Gun or Some Sort of Toy Gun Ammo For your weapon Canned Goods Your Favorite Snacks and Candy Water and Energy Drink, Coffee, or Soda Your favorite perfume (Zombie Spray)
  ZOMBIE TARGET PRACTICE!
Once you have your Zombie Survival Kit, make sure you have targets set up in your place of living or outside and put your Zombie Hunter Permit to good use! Just make sure you don’t use all you ammo on practice targets, or else you will be a buffet for zombies if you can’t get away from them in time for your partner to step in and save your life!
Items You Will Need To Make This Happen: Zombie Hunting Permit Printable Targets or Zombie Target Printable Nerf Gun/Weapon Ammo
DINNER AND A SHOW!
Once you have finished your target practice, open your survival kit and rummage through your kitchen because it is time to break out your food rations! You could always go super fancy and make something very skilled but I recommend you use what you have in you Zombie Survival Kits to make it even more like you are in a zombie apocalypse! Obviously using simple things from your kitchen like butter, milk, and water is fine. I’m not saying you have to eat only canned goods but it’ll make it more fun!
In the boxes I packed for my husband I included canned chili and a box of mac n’ cheese for our food rations! Not too simple but not too extravagant!
Once your food is prepared its time to pull out your Zombie Spray, give yourself a spritz, grab your food, and start binging the show! The Dating Diva’s provided us with a few fun activities to do while you watch the show!
The first activity is a prediction sheet! Just fill it out with you best guesses for what is going to happen in whatever episode you are going to be watching and if you are a hardcore fan try your hand at some Walking Dead Trivia!! (Excuse the typo on question 11)
The second activity is a fun one! Each time you catch you partner simply making a noise, or vice versa, you present them with a ZOMBIE CARD. These cards have some fun witty things written on them to remind you to keep quiet! Laughing, talking, phone ringing or buzzing, any noise counts. At the end of your binge whoever has the most cards has to do something, clean the dishes, do a daring thing, etc., YOU CHOOSE!
Items You Will Need For This To Happen: Food Rations From Your Survival Kit Netflix, DVR, or The Walking Dead DVD’s Zombie Spray Prediction Printable Zombie Card Printable
  END THE NIGHT!
Depending on how much of a zombie you and your partner have become you can choose to end the night at the previous activity or drink your energy supply (if you haven’t already) and present them with a Zombie Outbreak Notice! This notice let’s you partner know that a zombie outbreak has occurred in your own home and each of you need to be thoroughly inspected (wink.. wink). Be sure to check for all the symptoms listed in the notice as well as ones that may have been left out!
Items You Will Need To Make This Happen: Zombie Outbreak Notice Printable

This GLENN’S PIZZA shirt is something any fan of the The Walking Dead will get! We first met Glenn in season 1 and at that point I already knew he would be one of my favorite characters.  Before the zombie apocalypse started Glenn was a pizza delivery boy full of sarcasm, and until the day he died in Season 7 he was one of the funniest characters in The Walking Dead. This shirt is complete with Glenn’s red hat and one of Glenn’s favorite words- I’ll let you take a guess at what that is!
I love this shirt so much! It’s soft and looks great! I love that only other fans of the show, know and understand the meaning behind the shirt. RIP Glenn! You are so missed!  -Ashley Weidman

5 Things Young Moms Are Tired Of Hearing
5 Things Young Moms Are Tired Of Hearing
Warning: This post is full of sass and may offend some people, but these things need to be said.  We live in a VERY opinionated world. Everyone always has something to say about every little thing you do. Whether they are advertisements, people you know, or even complete strangers when you are pregnant or a young mom everyone thinks they can have a say in what is going on. I got pregnant at 17…

DISCLAIMER: This post is sponsored by Crated With Love. All opinions are mine and mine alone!
A relationship is not based on the length of time you have spent together, it is based on the foundation that you built together! -Unknown
Every relationship needs to be built on something firm and something strong. Without a strong foundation your relationship will eventually crumble. Building a solid foundation with your partner takes time and it takes energy. You have to dedicate your time to doing certain activities with your partner to build that foundation, and Crated With Love is helping my husband and I do just that with our newest date night box!
CHALLENGE 1: What Is Our Foundation?
For the very first challenge Crated With Love asked us an “ice breaker” question. What is our foundation? For this challenge Crated With Love provided us with a card to fill in. On this card was a pyramid of ten squares, each square required Joe and I to fill it in with a specific word that describes either us as an individual or us as a whole. Personality trait, Physical trait, or Relationship trait we had to pick one word that best described the other and our relationship. In the top square of the card we had to create our relationship pet name and fill it in, Joe chose what it would be and he decided on JoJe.
CHALLENGE 2: Don’t Crack The Egg
This challenge brought out the competitive side in both of us. Don’t Crack The Egg isn’t just a cute name they gave this challenge we literally had to make sure we didn’t crack the egg. For this challenge, Crated With Love sent us straws, washi tape, a golden egg, and twine so that we could build a contraption to protect eggs from a fall. Joe, being more street smart and better at strategy, I thought he had it in the bag. This challenge not only brought out the competitive side in us but it brought out some of the emotional, ugly side of me.
Once our contraptions were built we were supposed to throw the other’s contraption as high in the air as we could, but Joe being Joe decided to climb on our roof and drop them from an equal height. First, we had his lovely contraption. He had previously done a challenge similar to this in High School so had a pretty good idea on what he was doing, but that experience didn’t help him here. He built his contraption to be light weight but still protect the egg. Because it was light weight the wind caught it and made it land on the side with less protection, therefore the egg broke, first drop.
Next, we had my pyramid of straws wrapped in twine. Never doing this challenge in my life I asked my best friend for advice days prior to our date night since I couldn’t use YouTube. For some reason I could not get my washi tape to stick well so I began to get irritated and almost gave up. Once I had cooled down I started from scratch, still struggling to get the tape to stick I wrapped my pyramid in twine. Instead of a pyramid my contraption looked like a ball of twine with straws randomly sticking out. First drop, Joe dropped my contraption and it landed upright and didn’t seem to crack. We shook it to make sure that it was still in tact.
Being that I had already won we decided to see if my egg would break so we dropped it again, but this time Joe threw it from our roof over my head as I was taking pictures. This time it landed on its side and sounded like the egg hit the ground. Still not seeing any yolk, because of all the twine I used, I shook it and out flew the yolk.
Crated With Love had us do this challenge to show us that our relationship is much like the contraptions we built for our eggs. We have been given the supplies to build a strong, safe relationship but if we don’t put time and effort into it and just give up when things get hard our foundation won’t be strong and will eventually fall apart like my first attempt at building a contraption.
CHALLENGE 3 & 4: Couples Goal Setting & Future Letters
Challenges 3 and 4 go hand and hand with each other. For Challenge 3 we had to create mind, body, and relationship goals for us to achieve and help each other achieve throughout this year. Physically writing down goals is a great way for you to be held accountable and for your partner to hold you accountable, so that is exactly what Crated With Love had us do.
They provided us with a card and magnets to stick our goals on our fridge so that we can keep track of them! Creating a strong relationship doesn’t always mean you have to work on your relationship with your partner, it also means that you have to work on yourself and Crated With Love recognizes that.
Setting goals can be rough when you are doing it alone, that is why Crated With Love gave us Challenge 4! Challenge 4 required us to write an encouraging letter for each other to read 6 months down the road and a congratulatory letter for us to read at the end of our 12 months! There is no better way to support your partner and grow your relationship than words of affirmation and encouragement when they need it.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Joe and I absolutely LOVE Crated With Love, it is honestly the best thing ever! We have little to no time to plan dates and with the help of Crated With Love all we have to do is set aside time for our date night. We always feel refreshed after having a date night because we take time to slow down and appreciate one another as well as learn more and more about each other. Crated With Love, makes us sit down and think about our relationship as well as helps us work on our marriage where it needs a little help.
ABOUT Crated With Love

For those in fandoms 2016 was rough. We lost so many great actors and musicians. I feel that it is only right to officially start off my Fandom Friday series with a post dedicated to those wonderful Wizards, Rebels, Droids, and Musicians that we all came to love and adore so much.
Alan Rickman
To start off the list we have Alan Rickman. The English actor was born February 21 , 1946 and died January 14, 2016. Of 2016 his death was the hardest for me. Alan Rickman was known for his rolls in Die Hard, Galaxy Quest, Sweeney Todd, and of course the roll that caused me to fall in love with him, Severus Snape in Harry Potter. Rickman died while battling pancreatic cancer at the age of 69. If you are anything like me you started off hating his character in Harry Potter but by the end of the series he was the one character that you loved most. That one character was a character I related to so much. I remember after Rickman passed calling my brother asking him to stop calling me Snivellus for a while because that is what James Potter called Severus Snape. As soon as my husband and I found out about his death we HAD to find the Severus POP! Funko. It is still one of my favorite POP!s. Alan Rickman’s memory will always  be alive in the PotterHead community, always!
“Look…at…me…” he whispered. The green eyes found the black, but after a second, something in the depths of the dark pair seemed to vanish, leaving them fixed, blank, and empty. The hand holding Harry thudded to the floor, and Snape moved no more. -J.K. Rowling

Anton Yelchin
Anton Yelchin was most known for playing Pavel Checkov in the most recent reboots and adaptations of the Star Trek series. Yelchin was born March 11, 1989 and was killed in a freak car accident June 19, 2016 at the age of 27. Yelchin also had roles in the movies Smurfs and Terminator: Salvation. Anton may have only lived to the young age of 27 but his memory will be alive as the quirky, young, Checkov that all Trekkies came to love in the reboots that started rolling out in 2009.
Live Long and Prosper! -Spock

Erik Bauersfield
This name may not be recognized by some but fans of the Star Wars franchise recognize him. Family and Friends knew him as Erik but to Star Wars fanatics we knew him as Admiral Ackbar. Erik Baursfield died of natural causes at the age of 93, on April 3, 2016. Little did we know that his death was only the first death that Star Wars fans would cry through during 2016.
It’s a trap! -Admiral Ackbar
**To see a full list of movies and accomplishments by Erik Bauersfield CLICK HERE**
Kenny Baker
In 2016 one of the world’s favorite droids passed away, marking the second of 3 Star Wars actors deaths that year. Kenny Baker was known all over as R2-D2. Before they had great CGI and technology for robots to be created they had Kenny Baker. Baker was born August 24, 1934 and passed away August 13, 2016 at 81. Little is known about his death but it is believed that he passed away due to having complications with dwarfism. As the Star Wars films continue I believe that we have not seen the last of R2-D2 even though Kenny has passed.
Excuse me sir, but that R2-D2 is in prime condition, a real bargain! -C-3PO
**To see a full list of movies and accomplishments by Kenny Baker CLICK HERE**
Gene Wilder
Another death that stabbed me right in the heart was the death of Gene Wilder. I grew up watching him in Willy Wonka and I knew all of the songs by heart. Wilder lived a long life, he passed away at 83 on August 28. Gene played many memorable rolls that won’t be forgotten. The movies he was in are classics that in my opinion will live on for many generations. I know for a fact that my son will be watching Will Wonka in the near future!
If you want to view paradise simply look around and view it, anything you want to, do it. Want to change the world? There’s nothing to it! -Willy Wonka

Carrie Fisher
Just as 2016 was about to end and the fandoms finally began to end their mourning over the fallen, tragedy struck. Carrie Fisher who is most known for as Princess Leia Organa, daughter of Anakin SkyWalker and Padme Amidala, sister of Luke Skywalker, lover of Han Solo, suffered a heart attack not even 2 weeks after Rogue One hit theaters. On Christmas Eve Carrie had her heart attack and on December 27, 2016 she passed away. Carrie was 60 years of age when she passed. My heart broke when I read the news and I felt sick to my stomach. Her character was one that I grew up adoring and looking up to. I was so excited to see her in The Force Awakens and I was hoping to see her in the next few movies that are set to come out. But now, I can only wonder what they will do with her character in the series.
The force will be with you, Always! -Obi-Wan Kenobi

I know that many others have fallen but for the sake of the length of the post I included the ones who affected my emotions most. Who was the hardest death for you to handle in 2016? Were they on my list or was it one of the few that I left out? Let me know below.

January is not only National Human Trafficking Awareness month, it is also Self-Love Month. Both of those things mean so much to me. If you missed my post on Human Trafficking CLICK HERE.
Self-Love and Self-Appreciation are both things that I believe everyone struggles with at sometime in their life. I know for a fact that it is something that I have struggled with, and still do. We see certain things about ourselves that no one else sees and they bother us. Our brains at times seem wired to find flaws instead of appreciate what makes us, us.
I have struggled with my self image as long as I can remember. I never had the flawless skin or the prettiest hair, I’ve always been on the heavier side. I let the fact that I didn’t fit the media’s mold of perfection get to me. I yearned to be accepted.
I finally began to accept the way I looked and love myself once I met my husband. This guy can look at me when I am at my worst and still call me beautiful! His willingness to love me helped me learn to love myself. Don’t get me wrong I am not saying to go find a guy or girl to help you love yourself because it doesn’t work like that. I looked to people my whole life but never felt beautiful until I met my husband. The way he respected me taught me to respect myself. I began to look at myself through different eyes, his eyes.
After having my amazing little boy I began to slowly sink back into that judgmental state. Not only did I gain weight but my stomach was now covered in tiger stripes. My body something that I had just began to love became something I didn’t even recognize anymore.

Learning to love yourself comes by slowing down and taking the time to appreciate yourself, perfection and flaws included. Each scar and stretch mark tells a story. Someone thinks you are beautiful even when you don’t feel it.
Beauty isn’t a feeling it is a characteristic or much rather a state of being. Whether you see it or not you are beautiful. I know I don’t see it often, but when I do see it I always tell my husband “I feel beautiful today!” he always replies to that with “You always are.” Just because you may be feeling at your worst doesn’t mean you aren’t beautiful.
Self-Love is defined as feeling valuable and a worthy person. The moment you begin to love yourself is the moment you step into who you are. Fears and doubts suddenly disappear because you know that you are worth something. You not only begin learning to love yourself, you see people from a different perspective, in turn loving them because you see the true value of somebody!
In case no one has told you today let me tell you these few things. You are beautiful!!! You are smart! You are kind! You are loved! You are not alone! Just because you don’t fit society’s mold of perfection doesn’t mean you have to change to fit that mold because you are perfect they way that God made you! There is no better time to start loving yourself than today!
January is Self-Love month. Everyone struggles at one point in their life. You are not alone! January is not only National Human Trafficking Awareness month, it is also Self-Love Month. Both of those things mean so much to me.

Human Trafficking Awareness
Today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day here a some facts on something close to my heart.
Human Trafficking has been swept under the rug for so long. When mentioned the subject is quickly dismissed and a new subject takes the floor. I have even lost followers on social media for speaking out on this touchy subject. If kept in the dark it will become worlds largest crime committed because as of right now it is the third largest. If kept in the dark women and men of all ages will be put…
