I love Canon Remus and all of his flaws. Enough of this "Casanova of Gryffindor Tower" BS, Remus is the cowardly lion of Gryffindor tower. He values bravery because it is something that he lacks and yet still strives to be. He has an ingrained sense of shame and self-loathing and an inferiority complex that stems from society's contempt and marginalization towards Lycanthropy, a condition he was cursed with from a very young age. He wasn't a leader, he was a follower. A blind follower who believed to his core that he was unworthy of love and respect because of what he was.

Which opens the door to what I believe to be Remus' greatest flaw: His unwavering, unquestioning devotion to Albus Dumbledore.

I think Remus saw Dumbledore as the perfect encapsulation of Good. He was everything that Remus desperately wanted to be, everything that society was determined to believe a werewolf could never be. And maybe, if Remus could earn (and cling to) Dumbledore's favor and make him proud, he would prove to the world and himself that he is Good, too, in spite of his lifelong curse.

Remus felt that he owed Dumbledore a debt he could never hope to repay for allowing this chronically ill little boy into his school when no werewolf before him had ever been given such an opportunity. So many of Remus' choices in canon stem directly from this imagined debt that he had dedicated his life to paying. Hell, he didn't even hold a grudge against Snape for OUTING HIM to the entire wizarding world simply because Dumbledore trusted him.

Remus trusted Dumbledore wholeheartedly. And Dumbledore personally saw to Harry's placement with the Dursleys. Why should Remus have considered, for even a moment, that Harry wasn't safe? Certainly far safer than he would have been with a monster in close proximity, as Remus believed himself to be. In his mind, staying away from Harry was what was best for Harry. Until Dumbledore needed a favor, that is.

It's reductive to suggest that Remus failed Harry (and by extension, James) for putting his trust in Dumbledore to do right by Harry. James and Sirius trusted Dumbledore, too. They all did. Stripping away all of the nuance and blaming the abuse Harry suffered on Remus is simply unfair. NO ONE helped Harry, not even those who were fully equipped to do so, and Remus was the farthest thing from being equipped to take that on, what with being an impoverished werewolf living in a society that reviles his very existence. The only person who could have saved Harry from the abuse was the very man that placed him in that home, the very man that Remus revered with blind conviction.

"That's right, keep that bratty little cocksucker quiet" letting go of her hair to allow her to collapse back over the desk, Steve felt sweat broke out on his temples when he felt his high nearing, aware that his lover was close as well due to how her slit was expanding to greedily accommodate him for the cumulation of as much pleasure as possible.

Like I did with the moral alignments, I thought I would make a post about why and how I sort characters into Hogwarts Houses! There are also quizzes so you can figure it out for yourself as well. I go into detail about each House, what they represent, their background and what it means to be sorted into a certain House.

*just because I’m talking about Harry Potter doesn’t mean I align with the transphobic views of J.K. Rowling. There is no room for transphobia on my page, and I support the trans and LGBTQIA+ community*

Figuring out which Hogwarts House you belong to has been around since the HP series came out. But I think there’s more to it than simply choosing to be in ‘the brave house’ or ‘the smart house.’ I think it reveals a lot about a person - or rather, a large aspect.

Here are a few tests for you to try, comment below what you got!

Test 1 (the ‘official’ Wizarding World quiz)

ravenclaw head cannons:

were called "gifted" as kids but now everyone's caught up and they're stuck with unnecessarily high standards because everyone still thinks they're "smarter"

know multiple languages, but none of them fully

they pull the most obscure facts out of NOWHERe, and that's usually how they attempt breaking an awkward silence (it often gets more awkward)

they love hoarding stationary to never use and end up with that One Trusty Pen

spend hours organizing all their tests, due dates, etc., but it's all gone to waste by the end of the year and their organization is bothering the Slytherins for the due dates

all the houses hold a prank competition every year and it's always a Ravenclaw / Slytherin duo that wins. the teachers still don't know what hit them.

the biggest procrastinators

remember the most random complicated facts and formulas but forget the word "fingernails"

on tests,, either speeds through the easy questions and gets them all wrong but cracks the bonus question with twelve seconds to spare

OR answers everything right but leaves the bonus incomplete after staring at it and going through the 5 stages of grief in 2 minutes. they take up the test with a Slytherin after who looks at them and reveals the answer was super easy

the actual Ravenclaw motto is "caffeine will solve anything"

You were walking with Harry to the great hall for breakfast. You had been good friends despite you being a Slytherin. Harry needed some help figuring out a spell and Hermione was busy and you were more than happy to help. Early in the morning you had met Harry in the library as your schedule was filled up later. You both were now catching up while moving towards the Great Hall. Bidding your goodbyes, you made your way towards your boyfriend who was staring at you with an unknown expression brewing in his eyes.

"Good morning love" you greeted only to earn back silence. "Good morning theo." you said a bit louder, he just stared at you and went back to eating. Furrowing your eyebrows, you further poked at him, "What's wrong theo?" Silence was all you got. After the breakfast he quickly stood up and made his way to the slytherin common room. It was empty as most of the students were enjoying themselves outside in the snow. You were quick to follow.

"Mattheo Riddle, if you think I'm going to let you off that easily then you are highly mistaken." you raised your voice a bit and made him turn towards you. "What's the matter love?" you spoke again in a soft voice. "Why don't you just be with that damn Potter?" he snarked. You blinked and stayed silent for a few seconds processing that he was in fact jealous and burst out laughing. He stared at you with a confused look. You managed to compose yourself and then spoke to him," Hey, love he's just a friend. He wanted some assistance with some spells and I got up early to help him so I can spend the rest of the day with you. I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new. I love you theo. Only you." You tiptoed to kiss him softly, he returned the kiss. "Now I feel like an idiot, I love you too." he mumbled against your lips. "Lets go outside?" your offered and he nodded. You spent the day walking in the snow, making snow angels and having snow fights with the rest of your friends.
