Whining About Community Means Nothing When You Continue To Poison The Well
It never ceases to amaze me exactly how much the people in the Pagan / Witchcraft / Occult blogosphere here on Tumblr will whine, and haw, and cry about the "lack of community" here, and how "no one talks to one another anymore", and how "Tumblr's Witchcraft / Pagan / Occult Community is dying" ... But will then go on, afterwards, to continue making absolutely zero true and legitimate effort to correct that, or be the very change they constantly complain that they want to see in the Tumblr blogosphere.
They won't leave comments on posts- nor will they respond to comments left on their posts ... They won't send asks to people anymore ... They won't ask questions about things that are new to, intrigue, or even confuse them ... They rarely reblog anything that isn't another regurgitated "educational post"- and they certainly don't write any kind of original (non-educational, diary or journal like) posts about their own experiences or practices anymore, either (and instead always insist on branding themselves as Grimoires, Teachers / Educators, or Aesthetic blogs) ... They generally just refuse to build well networked community connections as a whole ... They no longer really bother to correct misinformation, or go out of their way to help practitioners find solid information- including referring them to practitioners who actually know the subjects being asked about.
Instead they repeatedly, actively, seem to go out of their way to be the exact opposite of everything that actually makes any kind of a community work and function.
Just throwing the barest bones hyper-regurgitated information (that's frequently incorrect, and sometimes made up of outright lies) out there, and stepping into lanes that often aren't even theirs in the process ... Handwaving away all legitimate educational or conversational attempts made in good faith as "to each their own" instead of actually fully engaging with peers and having dialogues about different ways of thinking, working, and being ... Expecting nothing short of absolute perfection even from the newest members- and being completely unwilling to accept any new information themselves, on top of it ... Acting in bad faith, with a bad attitude towards others; assuming everything said and done towards them is in bad faith, too ... Automatically blocking people for no legitimate reason- and frequently either (1) Without any actual interaction with them first; or (2) Just on an automatic assumption of foul play, bad faith, negativity, or general difference in method or belief leading them to act persecuted and be offended- when in reality they could've just asked for clarification; opened a dialogue and built a real bridge ... Making zero effort to actually speak to others around them and build bridges at all in general.
The list just keeps going on for eternity- and none of the actions are really good or conscionable.
Genuinely: How on Earth can you claim to want community when you maintain a vicious wall of self isolation which you refuse to let down for even a nanosecond, and are intent on being virulent and hostile towards the very people you would be in community with? Genuinely: How on Earth do you claim to desire interconnection and unity when you are completely unwilling to accept (or even tolerate) any amount of perceived difference in belief and practice- and are unwilling to attempt to understand or learn about those differences outside of the bubbles and echo chambers you have placed yourself in? Genuinely: How on Earth do you claim to stretch out your hand in Companionship when it is still stained red and you hide a knife behind your back, waiting for someone to make the first, slightest, perceived misstep so that you can attack them? Genuinely: How on Earth do you expect to build any semblance of community when you continuously tear down the very supports it needs to stand on in the first place? Genuinely: How on Earth do you claim to want community, when you do nothing but poison the community well where we would all drink in the first place?
To quote something I all too often have to, from a similar conversation had far too long ago on this very same platform (because we've unfortunately had it many, many a time, and the lesson never seems to get learned): "You cannot poison the well and then wonder why no one drinks from it" ... To form Community, you must first quit poisoning the well. Until you do that, you will never be able to do anything but continue whining about its lack.

A Lesson on Learning
Tumblr media
Brought to you by “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and Uncle Iroh
In season 2′s episode ‘Bitter Work’ Iroh is teaching Zuko how to bend lightning and the lesson that he uses to do so is one that can be applied to LITERALLY anything.
The lesson goes thus:(Quotes from IMDB)
Uncle Iroh: [Draws Fire symbol in the dirt] Fire is the element of power. The people of the Fire Nation have desire and will and the energy and drive to achieve what they want.
Uncle Iroh: [Draws Earth symbol] Earth is the element of substance. The people of the Earth Kingdom are diverse and strong. They are persistent and enduring.
Uncle Iroh: [Draws Air symbol] Air is the element of freedom. The Air Nomads detached themselves from worldly concerns and found peace and freedom. Also, they apparently had pretty good senses of humor.
Uncle Iroh: [Draws Water symbol] Water is the element of change. The people of the Water Tribes are capable of adapting to many things. They have a sense of community and love that holds them together through anything.
Prince Zuko: Why are you telling me these things?
Uncle Iroh: [Draws straight lines separating the four symbols] It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it become rigid and stale.
Uncle Iroh: [Draws a circle around all four symbols] Understanding others, the other elements, and the other nations, will help you become whole.
Prince Zuko: All this four elements talk is sounding like Avatar stuff.
Uncle Iroh: It is the combination of the four elements in one person that makes the Avatar so powerful. But it can make you more powerful, too. image
Tumblr media
Now, this can obviously be applied to witchcraft and magic in general, paganism or any spiritual path, our moral paths, our personal lives and any work that we do. Because Iroh is right (when is he not?).
If we simplify our focus to one thing, one source, one single pillar of thought, we limit it and it becomes rigid and stale as he said, but also weak and fallible. If we instead learn to draw inspiration, wisdom and knowledge from differing sources, seeing how they work together as a whole, we strengthen the foundation of our own beliefs, our own knowledge.
This most obviously applies to studies of the elements, as it is the entire premise of the show and the quote itself. From that we can draw so many varied conclusions though! How do the above elements work together? Is there overlap between any of them? Do they together form other things- or change each other into the other elements? How do they impact one another? How can studying one in turn help you to study the others?
I digress… It’s just one of my favorite quotes from the show. But if you’d like me to extrapolate on this some more, just let me know or message me and we can discuss it! :)

On a relevant note in our life:
The Divine can be wrong
They can be wrong for you
They can be wrong in general
Very few beings are omniscient and to assume all Divine are going to know what is going on with you is something rooted in Christian beliefs and should be examined if that is affecting your practice. Decide for yourself if that is something you want in your path
Talk to your guides, they can't always help but they for sure can't if they don't know what's wrong
To assume the Divine know what is best for you no matter what is something that could get you hurt. The Divine in many mythos are flawed. And this should be kept in mind when working with ones from those faiths.
On to my story:
Tonight I parted ways with a god I had planned to work along side for a very long time, possibly the rest of my life. I had realized he wasn't listening to me and pushing me to do things that were detrimental to my health both mental and 'physical' [mostly my inner world 'health'] and not believing me despite my protests.
His reasonings were somewhat believable, especially when I was already struggling with self worth, and I am unsure of if they were coming from a place of actually wanting to help. But the point is they weren't helping.
I almost quit my job as a host for my system despite desperately wanting to continue being one. He wouldn't listen to me and because my systems safety is the most important thing to me I believed him when he said my impulsivity was getting out of hand and dangerous. I now realize that fronting really does help with my impulsive nature. Something I had suspected and now am certain of.
My point is they don't always know whats best, they can be wrong and they can be cruel. Not everyone will experience this but its something to keep in mind.
Better to be safe than sorry. If you are sure something is wrong for you trust your intuition.
You can tell them "No"

Here’s a new poem of mine! It’s titled Unconditional love verses conditional love
Either one loves you or they do not.
Their love is theirs to give;
Not yours to earn.
Unconditional love is given freely, not earned.
If someone does not love you unconditionally, the best that they could offer you is conditional love.
Conditional love is paid out to others like a finite currency.
It’s purely transactional.
Conditional love is devoid of nutrients.
If unconditional love were a fresh homemade meal, conditional love would be days old fast food.
Conditional love masquerades as love but it is not love.
It is something else.
It is usually an attempt to control another.
Like empty calories, you can consume as much conditional love as you wish to but you will never feel nourished.
You’ll remain starving.
How long have you been starving for love?
Real, unconditional love.
It’s time you feast.
And there’s hope!
You can begin to offer yourself unconditional love at any time.
For free.
Unconditional love is rich, decadent, and filling to the soul.
It is endless, limitless, expansive, and powerful.
It lies within you now and always.
You need only accept that you’re worthy of your unconditional love and in doing so,
you will gift yourself your unconditional love.
And once your soul tastes unconditional love, it will begin to lose its taste for conditional love.
Relationships that are founded in conditional love will be called into question.
It’s up to you if you embrace or reject anybody else, going forward.
I choose to no longer accept or give conditional love.
And I’m determined to never go back to accepting or giving conditional love again.
We all deserve unconditional love.
It is our birthright.
And that is not up for debate with me.

“Wicca Bashing” Round 2: The Double Standard Of Always Shitting On Wicca But Not TradCraft
What ultimately utterly baffles me the most about the community's constant desire to pull down its pants and crap on Wicca, is that Robert Cochrane (Roy Bowers)?
Was also "A White British Man".
Also claimed the exact same "hereditary Witch Cult" nonsense.
Also created his own Witchcraft Tradition.
In the formation of Cochranite TradCraft, Robert Cochrane (Roy Bowers) also appropriated a lot of practices from other traditions and mythos he shouldn't've. And the tradition is, frankly, a hell of a lot more sex-centric within some strains than Wicca ever is- and that sex-centrism is blatantly erotic and hypersexual, rather than Wicca's focus on the fertility of the land via the Gods. He also decided it too requires initiation to enter his Tradition (even if the Initiation mechanisms are different).
Ultimately Cochranite TradCraft shares a lot of similarities of belief and practice to Wicca. And that's thanks to Cochrane literally having (at least) a 1st degree initiation into Wicca and one of its second major contributors being Doreen Valiente (a Wiccan High Priestess).
Not to mention the Traditions that outright do blend both openly and exist in a weird grey spot that's not quite one or the other. Or the open cooperation of people from both traditions to create materials for both- such as Ed Fitch and Joseph Bearwalker working together to create "The Pagan Way" to meet the demands for outsiders to both traditions. Or, like, y'know, Doreen Valiente whose contributions routinely get ignored and swept under the rug because pissing contests over which White British Man is "The Worst Actually" are more important I guess.
And yet TradCraft is always seen as "more legitimate" than Wicca, and gets absolutely none of the same hyper-policing or discussion of "Red Flags" and dangers, skepticism, outright lies made up about it, (Aleister Crowley and Gerald Gardner co-created Wicca exclusively to groom young hot women into having sex with them? Really? Really ????) etc, that Wicca does. Even despite sharing so many of these very specific similarities of both creator and their creation, structure, and praxis across its own (equally independent) strains of Tradition.
It's almost as if there's a massive double standard and bias in this community about who we police and who we don't ... And once again I have to tell people to pay attention to the crap that lays on their own side of the fence before complaining that their neighbor's yard stinks. Because these problems are not problems with individual groups, but with the community as a whole for a variety of reasons- and it's time to stop assigning all the blame to one singular group and acting like only one of us is "The Worst Actually".
None of us are "The Worst", actually. We all have shit in our own yards to deal with- and a lot of that shit was made by the same group of Dogs howling the same tune at the same damned moon. And we all need to deal with that collectively; this whole "Piss on one another all the time" thing is getting so goddamned old.
Like ... Are y'all not tired of acting like absolutely unnecessarily petulant and petty Toddlers over things, yet? Can you not grow up, stop acting like panicked Evangelist Protestants every 5 seconds, and actually act like the damned adults you're supposed to be, capable of having reasonable discussions already? I know I'm tired. Why aren't the rest of you already?

As a random show of support I just wanted to express that not bearing children either of your own choice or beyond your control does not make you any less of an achieved human/man/woman/witch/maiden/crone/or any other category you'd place yourself in.
I've recently seen some dialog alluding to 'not bearing offspring makes me an incomplete woman/witch' or 'I can't fully walk in my power not having experienced child birth'
And this makes me so sad because no one should ever feel this way.
Giving birth is not the way of fulfillment for everyone and certainly does not make someone any less of a person, less feminine, less masculine, less balanced of a person/witch. No matter your situation.
As much guilt and/or shame that you may feel please take my word for it and take into consideration that your path may not be as you desired, it may be very different from how you envisioned it but that passion, that love, care, that yearning to impact lives and hearts that can be found in so many different ways/situations/lines of works/etc.
Sometimes life calls for half-time adjustments, and that doesn't have to be a bad thing.
The symbolism of fertility, of rebirth, new life, etc it can take on so many forms and perspectives. 'Giving life' to something can simply mean allowing your creative ideas to finally meet a blank canvas, or unspoken thoughts to be vocalized, or your dreams become an action- they become a reality that's taking shape.
Please don't let anyone make you feel less than. It is not your 'duty' as a human. Or your 'responsibility' unless you wish for it to be.
And kudos to parents, foster parents, single parents- and everyone in between. (No bashing or bad feelings here y'all are equally important and worth validation)
I am not posting to make any political statements or implications. I'm not even sure what sparked this thought. I just know the feedback I've seen on the subject is much to be desired. The support from the opposite end may not be as much but just know you are not alone and I'm rooting for you! And I'm here for anyone that may need it
Thanks for reading

Hmmm. Been brewin up sum ideas for decks we could make that wouldn't be as intensive for a first foray into the craft[the designing aspect of tarot and oracle in particular]
Well, we've thought and the idea of a Liminal Spaces tarot+oracle super deck in the same vein as this deck:
It would include modern liminal spaces as well as the more 'traditional' spiritually significant ones... looks like I know what I'm doin tomorrow

I wrote a new poem recently and would love to share it here. It’s titled Wake up and feel
This sleepwalker woke up!
I am awake at last.
I am present.
I am grounded.
I am here.
I am aware of so much.
I can see, hear, smell, taste and touch!
What a gift!
Everything’s the same yet I see it differently.
The world is full of magic and color again.
Like when I was young.
Vibrancy is in everything.
I breathe deeply.
I feel even deeper.
I am rich and I finally know it!
I journeyed within myself.
I found invaluable treasure in my reflection.
You can do it too!
I believe in you.
