A quick 3 min per chapter Marauders Era fanfic starring Faith Solace as reader × Sirius/Remus, and Minuet McGonagall (an OC of mine hehe)
Warnings: None :>
Words: 675
Tumblr media
Sirius' POV
James and I were having a blast.
"What are you gonna do about it genius?" I threw back, making Potter laugh.
I could already see the disapproval in Solace's eyes. Sigh she was always like this, it was just a broom…flying; that's what they're made for, right?
(Minuet) The kid seemed to get real angry……
"Felifors," she cast, catching me off guard.
"Expelliarmus!" James cast back and made her drop her wand before he ran over to me.
Faith and Remus got to me first, then James and Peter. Why was everyone suddenly so tall?
Faith's POV
"She turned him into a cat?!" Faith panicked.
"Meow??!!" Cat-Sirius meowed.
She turned around in search for McGonagall but couldn't find her nor the boy Sirius bullied.
Guess they fled… she thought.
"It's an elite spell, we have to get him to Prof. McGonagall," said Remus, assessing the situation.
"Or maybe we should keep him like this," James joked, still laughing. "He's so cute and fluffy!"
"James!" Faith scolded, though liking Sirius' fluffy appearance too. She picked up the fluffy black cat- Uh, I mean Sirius and let him lay comfortably in her arms.
She sighed, I did not imagine myself doing this today.
"Professor McGonagall– Oh……" They were interrupting her class.
"Maybe we should wait-" James said, turning back.
"Nope." Faith pushed past James, still carrying Sirius.
"Sorry to interrupt Professor but this is urgent-"
"Miss Solace, I am in the middle of class!-"
"But Professor, someone turned Black into a cat and-"
Professor McGonagall's eyes widened. "Put him down."
Faith gently placed cat-Sirius on the ground. The professor waved her wand and whoosh~ Sirius transformed back into a human.
"Wait outside, all five of you," the professor instructed. "My class will end soon."
So they waited outside.
"I told you not to do it!" Faith scolded.
"So did I…" Remus added calmly.
Sirius rubbed the back of his neck, "What can I say? Aren't brooms made to fly?" He chuckled, clearly he'd waited awhile to tell that joke.
"It's not like we knew his friend was gonna fight back-" James argued.
"Well that's why you don't go around bullying people in the first place!" Faith yelled.
Everyone went silent.
"H- Hi professor-" Peter stuttered.
Faith turned around and jumped, "S- Sorry-" (Faith)
"Fret not Ms. Solace," said Prof. McGonagall. "Now tell me what happened."
After relaying everything to the professor, the five of them were dismissed with an additional warning for James and Sirius.
During their next class, History of Magic, Faith sat with Remus, away from the two "trouble-makers".
She was cross at them, but she didn't really know why.  (Except the fact that they bullied someone and got in a little pickle hehe)
"Is he always like this?" Remus asked.
"James was never this extreme…" Faith mumbled.
"Oh but- I guess I wouldn't say it's that bad, compared to some…… other bullies."
"Really?"
"Yeah, they're just teasing- I think. Bullies where I'm from love punching you to death," he shuddered.
"Oh…… That's terrible…"
"Yeah. James and Sirius are just having fun. Besides, they're our friends! So for now, I'll just let it slide," he sighed.
Faith sighed too and nodded her agreement.
~
That night during dinner Faith who was still avoiding James and Sirius sat with Peter instead. She never really talked to Peter much, he was always that chubby "supports bullying" plus "has a crush on you" kind of guy. Made it harder for Faith to really socialise with him.
"H- Hi Faith," he perked up.
"Hi"
"We've never really gotten to talk much, huh."
"Yeah. So…… How's classes been?" Faith initiated.
"Good, good. But uh- I suck at them," he laughed, making her giggle. "You're acing yours aren't you?"
"Haha- Not history of magic, it's so boring I struggle to just keep myself awake!"
"Same! I keep falling asleep halfway. If it weren’t for Black waking me up I think I’d be sleeping till the lesson ends—”
“Have any of you seen Remus?” James interrupted.
“N- No? Why?” asked Faith.
Sirius answered,
“He’s missing.”

I thought of a sweet platonic intrulogical au with some unsympathetic patton and unsympathetic Roman based off the movie drop dead fred.
Basically Logan is an adult who struggled with his identity, he doesn't see any value in himself and let's others walk all over him and just ignore his opinions.
Recently he had a really bad day, on the same day he showed up to work late and got his car stolen his dear sweet fiance Roman dumped him to run off with some dude named Remy because Logan was just soooo boring and then promptly kicks Logan out of their house.
Because he has no job now he decides to stay with his father patton at his house for a while but thats hardly any better, Patton has been a manipulative controlling borderline abusive asshole since Logan was a kid and practically trained his son to do everything he wanted.
Patton is even chastising Logan for making Roman so unhappy that he cheated on him and ran off with some one else and says Logan has to get him back right now, don't worry though, Patton will make him good enough for roman.
Logan doesn't know what to do, he's terrified to be alone and he truly doesn't feel like he can be independent, he needs these people to control his life.
Then Patton recalls something from Logan's childhood, appearently Logan was huge trouble maker as a kid, everytime Patton would even suggest that Logan would be handsome if he wasn't so fat he'd wake up to find pudding all over the kitchen walls, or of he ever told him not to embarrass him around guests Logan would always find a way on top of the fridge.
Logan always had an excuse though, his imaginary friend, Remus, who he swore to god was absolutely 100 percent real.
Then one night when Logan is asleep in his old room something rises from under neath his bed and jumps on top of him.
It's remus, much older now and excited to see Logan again, first thing he says to his old bestie? "Oh my god, you got really old and really unattractive".
Logan is convinced he's crazy but Remus shows him that he is in fact very real but since hes an inaginary friend nobody else can see him.
Remus instantly starts running around tearing up shit and causing micheif and Logan's confused as to why he's here now if he's an adult.
Remus was Logan's way to cope with his traumatic childhood growing up under Pattons opressive rule and now that Logan is suffering again he needs Remus to help him cope once more.
Hes still remus though and hes still a complete nuisance so naturally he causes lots od havoc that ends up making logan look very crazy.
He makes Logan look like hes yelling at himself, sets up annoying pranks for Logans abusers, makes him curse out people he doesnt mean to, breaks all his stuff, ruins his first couple attempts to get roman back, and just generally acts insufferable.
Through all of his annoyance though, Remus helps Logan grow courage and feel better about himself, he tells off patton, he gets a better job, and he even manages to get Roman back but guess what? Logan tells roman to go fuck himself and dumps his ass.
When Logan finally gains his independence Remus says its time for him to go and logan says remus is the best friend he ever had, remus lovingly responds with "you're the ugliest friend i've ever had." making logan laugh as remus disapears into the void.
He's not gone forever though, for when Logan visits his coworker Picani's son Virgil he notices the kid painting the fridge with mustard and Virgil insists he's playing with his new imaginary friend remus.
How sweet.

King creativity might have been Part five
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Patton groaned as he got up to his knees. That was some blast. He looked up and his attention was immediately drawn to the tall, looming figure before him and the sword that was now pointed at his throat. The face was new and strange. The jaw square with maturity instead of the soft roundness it held in their youth, the hair, not just framing his face but creeping up in a dignified moustache, pitch black instead of snow white. A grand crown rested upon his head. His dark clothing emphasizing his strong build. King. He was different, but he was back. And in that moment, he looked terrifying.
But thinking of King reminded Patton of the last time he saw him. Of holding Virgil while he pleaded for them to stop. Which reminded him that Virgil had been here with him. Patton bowed his head and tried to look for the hooded side. There, just a bit behind king. He seemed unconscious though. He had been closer to the twins than Patton. The blast must’ve hit him harder. He had to do something. He hadn’t been able to help Roman, but maybe he could still find a way to do right by King. “There you go,” King grinned with a frightening sort of amusement. “Bow before the king.” Patton looked up, feeling shivers overtake him. He couldn’t bring himself to stand up. Didn’t dare to look back to Virgil and draw attention towards him. He had no clue how King would response to seeing Virgil. They had been friends… But Virgil had been worried King would be upset if he knew he liked the twins. Patton used to be certain that King would be delighted to know that Virgil wasn’t left without his friendship entirely, that their bond persevered even if in a different form… But he wasn’t sure about this king. He didn’t feel like the one he’d known. So he was left to watch as King swung his sword away from him and rested it over his shoulders. “Morality,” he grinned, Patton felt strangely hurt by the use of his title. It had been a while since anyone used it, not counting the videos. “So… inconspicuous.” His voice was low, a soft caress, but with an edge that kept it from being soothing. There was something, an almost childlike playfulness to it. But it lacked the innocence to quite make it there. “And here I thought, like a fool,” Patton cringed at the hint of a growl that stressed the last word. “that Logic would take my place. But no…” King made an exaggerated bow, “Here’s the real ruler of the mindscape.” Patton was astonished. Taking King’s place? Did he really think anyone could fill the void that was left behind when he split? Even the twins… They made their own place in their family, but King was always missed. And ruler? Patton never wanted to rule anyone. They worked together as well as they could. If he could just get king to see that. To understand. King wasn’t very interested in listening though. Patton barely could get through two sentences before a torturous sound of nails on steel assaulted his eardrums. But he powered through. He had to try. Even if thinking was nearly impossible. King was… well, he seemed upset, but it was also like he was enjoying himself a lot. Which was so odd. Even Remus on his worst days didn’t take delight in the suffering of his fellow sides. He found unpleasantness fascinating. But he usually apologized when his experiments caused distress. He didn’t plan things out enough to be truly malicious. He just followed whatever curiosity had his attention and ran it to it’s extreme. If this was Remus, Patton would think that the trouble maker merely found himself pondering what nails on steel would sound like and tested it out right away with no other motivation than to satisfy his curiosity. King though… this king… Surely Patton misunderstood. No it was Remus’ impulsive fascination shining through. Or at least… He hoped it was. “I’m so happy to see you,” Patton smiled nervously. And it wasn’t a lie. He had missed king. And though he was different, having him here was something he’d often wished for. Not that he ever wished the twins gone… But there were many things he wanted to tell him.
And part of him was relieved that king wasn’t as gone as they’d thought he was. And surely… That meant the twins weren’t gone either? Maybe they could have the best of both worlds? Sometimes their old friend the king and sometimes the twins. Everyone happy. “Are you sure?” King wondered and Patton’s smile fell as he saw unmistakable cruelty in king’s smile. “Last time I checked I was too… Corrupted for your liking,” he recounted. Patton felt guilt overtake his heart. He was right. Patton hadn’t known at the time. Hadn’t understood Remus. Even when he formed Patton hadn’t quite known what to do with the… odd twin as he’d put it at the time. It had taken Virgil, who’d embraced both twins as being part of the king he loved, and a lot of growing up on his part to understand that Remus too had his place and role. “That…” There had to be a way he could make king see that he doesn’t think like that anymore. The morality who said those things was a child and that child grew up. Though he clearly still had some growing to do, given recent events. “I want you to know that I don’t…” “Hush,” King said soothingly. “It’s in the past now.” Patton could barely believe his ears. Could it truly be that King wanted to start fresh? Had he just been teasing? Sadly, those hopes were quickly shattered. “I’m not here to make up with anyone,” King grinned. “I’m here to set things right again.” Patton felt an invisible force jerk him forward by his cardigan. In a second it was grabbed tightly by King who was holding him up, glaring at him. “And you are standing in my way,” he growled before tossing him to the ground. Patton skidded for a few feet before he was able to get up to his knees again. King was standing above him in a flash. Patton shrunk in on himself scared of what he would do next.
A gasp drew both his and king’s attention. Patton looked up. Virgil. He was awake and staring up at the king in horror. No… Patton had to find a way to protect him. King was dangerous right now. And this was Patton’s fault anyway. No one else should have to face his wrath. “Ah Fear,” King said in a surprisingly pleasant tone. No frightening undertones, no harshness. “How are you doing my old friend?” he wondered. Virgil shifted his gaze to Patton who tried to signal him to run. Warn the others. Be anywhere that was not here. “Fear?” King repeated, waiting for a reaction. Virgil looked up at him, took a deep breath and sank into the floor, appearing right besides Patton. “Virgil?” Patton gasped. “I’ve got you Pat,” he assured him as he took a hold of him. “I’ll take care of things here. Don’t you worry.” And then Patton felt himself sink to the floor. Seconds later they came back up. Before Patton could orient himself he heard voices. “Patton?” That was Logan. “Virgil, what happened?” Janus asked perplexed. “I don’t have time to explain. I’ll take care of it.” “Virgil no!” Patton pleaded. “He said he didn’t want to make up with anyone. I tried, but he doesn’t want to listen,” he told him. “I didn’t say I was going to talk to him,” Virgil muttered before disappearing again.
King was smirking amused as he waited for Fear to return. He remembered the trick he’d used through the memories of Roman and Remus. Fear would move through the shadows when he needed to get to them quickly, but something, usually a nightmare or monster was blocking his path. King could respect that Fear wanted to talk in private. He probably should have prioritized Fear over Morality. He’d wanted to make sure that the others wouldn’t be able to mess with him or Fear again. But the reunion should have been first. Poor Fear had been living in guilt and regret for years over what happened. It was cruel to let him think he was in any way responsible for even a moment longer than necessary. So King decided to reassure Fear first and deal with the others after. Then they could establish the new order in the mindscape together. The king and his royal knight. Suddenly he felt a presence. He turned around. Fear was back. He looked upset though… Didn’t he recognize him? Morality seemed to have no problem telling who he was earlier. But maybe Fear had hit his head after the blast? “Fear, it is okay. It’s me. King,” King assured him with a smile. “Shut Up!” Fear commanded, black shadows lifting from the ground. Fear held out a hand and materialized a scythe. King was surprised at that. Fear spun his weapon a few times while circling around King slowly. He brought he blade up and studied it. “Remus loved this thing. He was always upset that I wouldn’t bring it out for sparring matches…” he mused. “Guess you’re about to find out why.” Fear’s tempest voice growled as his eyes clouded over with darkness and he got ready in a fighting position. “Fear, there is no need. I am not the enemy here. We’re friends. Don’t you remember?” he said gently. “Shut up. If you were my friend you’d call me by my name. Or you’d have asked if I’m okay. Even Remus would have made sure I didn’t get injured after getting blasted like that. And the King I remember would have definitely dragged me to someone to get me a proper checkup. You are a mockery of everything they were. Some kind of sick manifestation of my grief. But I won’t let you fester. I will fix this. For Thomas. For the twins. For everyone,” he hissed before charging. King effortlessly avoided the attack. He knew Fear could do better than that. Even without the twins’ memories he had seen him do better. So either he was doing poorly on purpose or he was too emotional to think clearly. King tried to figure it out. Clearly Fear had not lost his memory. He had a point though. “I’m sorry you got hit. They didn’t know what was going to happen or they would have made sure you were out of range,” he assured Fear. The shorter side was dearly loved by his parts. King was glad for that. But now that love was not divided or diluted by misplaced feelings or loyalty to anyone other than Thomas. “Don’t you dare talk about them!” Fear growled as he charged in again. This time he almost hit King, not with his scythe, but with the shadows that struck at him after. Fear had never weaponized his shadows before. Not while any form of him had been watching at least. “Nice move,” King acknowledged impressed. A creative application of the power he had been given and had now mastered so thoroughly that King didn’t think he could take it away without hurting the side. It was part of him at this point. “I’ll show you nice moves,” Fear growled. There were tears in his eyes, and a fire about him. He was truly upset. Sad and angry. The brothers had broken their promise, King supposed. “You cannot be angry at me for their actions Fear…” “That’s not my name!” Fear shouted, shadows flaring and shooting forwards, actually hitting King in the chest, forcing him a few steps back. “I refuse to call you Anxiety. You never liked that name,” he insisted. He didn’t care about the title personally, but he remembered how Fear would use that name as if it were a curse. Fear let out a hollow laughter. “I don’t see why I even bother. You won’t be around long enough for it to matter. Now.” he readied his weapon again. “Give me my friends back!” Fear charged and King avoided him snapping his fingers. White clouds flooded the scenery and King watched as Fear was grappled by a grown version of Morality. “What is happening? What are you doing!” he demanded the tears finally spilling over. The familiarity of this situation clearly upsetting him even more. The onyx eyes now had a flame of violet in them that would frighten King if he didn’t know that Fear didn’t truly wish to harm him. He had no doubt that he would’ve done so by now if that were the case. He couldn’t. Not even if he thought he had to. Which was a comfort. The others had not completely poisoned him it seemed. “Refreshing your memory,” King offered as in front of them a memory of himself, Logic and Deceit appeared. The latter two, in the forms King pulled from the twins’ memories, were pulling a sobbing young King apart. “No! Stop it! That… No!” Fear pleaded horrified, trying to look away but the Morality wouldn’t let him. He whispered something in Fear’s ear. King hadn’t heard what was said that day. Preoccupied as he had been with falling apart. But he had understood that Fear was trying to stop them. To save him. Surely, Fear would want him back. “That’s not… It didn’t happen that way. Stop it!” Fear pleaded, his tears becoming ink black, it was a beautifully haunting sight in combination with his blackened eyes. “Not in that moment… But it might as well have. You and I were always a team. They were fearful of the power we could wield together Fear. And they should be,” King growled. “If you think I’ll betray my friends, hurt Thomas, for you, then you are delusional. Now let me go and fight me you coward!” the younger side demanded, grief turning to anger. King sighed and dropped the spell. Fear stumbled a few steps before turning to King’s retreating form and charging. Sensing that Fear was really not going to calm down and see reason, King snapped his fingers. In an instant Fear stopped moving, his eyes going back to normal before shutting. King turned, shot forward and caught him before he could fall to the ground. He lifted him up bridal style, making him curl against his chest. “I’m sorry old friend. But you seem to have forgotten who it was that hurt us,” he mused softly. “Do not fret. You’ll remember soon. And by then, I’ll have fixed everything,” he promised as he carried him away.
“How can King be back?” Logan asked perplexed. “Thomas has outgrown that mentality decades ago. He shouldn’t even be a memory to him anymore!?”
“And the twins are gone? They really… I didn’t think they’d do that to Virgil. They saw what it did to him to lose King,” Janus frowned.
“But in their mind… They would be giving him King back… They didn’t think that King would be this different, I’m sure,” Patton offered weakly.
“But Virgil needs our help. He can’t take King on by himself, not when he’s exhausted and upset,” Patton exclaimed.
“You think King would harm him?” Logan wonders.
“He’s always been protective of the little spider,” Janus nods.
“But Virgil is going to fight him! There is no telling how King will react to that. I barely said anything to him and look what happened,” Patton gestured to his disheveled appearance.
Logan and Janus exchanged a worried look. Patton had a point. If Virgil came across as an enemy…
“Why hello everyone,” a low voice purred, making the gathered sides jump in surprise. They turned and saw King with Virgil in his arms. The smaller side looked like he’d been through one of the worst episodes anyone had ever seen him go through.
“Virgil!” Patton exclaimed distraught, barely held back by Logan and a distressed Janus.
King chuckled as a fainting couch appeared besides him. He laid Virgil’s limp form down and turned to the gathered audience. “He is resting and reflecting. Don’t you worry,” he informed them as he righted himself.
“Now…” he grinned deviously. “Let’s have some fun.”

11) First time flying  &  21) Golden hour
Lily groaned loudly, dropping her quill to stretch her arms high above her head. She rubbed her eyes roughly, taking in the scene around her, absently tapping her parchment with her wand to dry the ink. Everyone around ignored her steadily, eyes glued to books and notes, the soft scratches of writing the only sound in their corner of the library. Marlene was furiously flipping through two thick tomes as she wrote out her essay, a fierce scowl on her normally angelic features. Mary was mouthing along silently as she read through her notes, blonde hair falling in wisps near her eyes from its tight bun.
Lily gazed absentmindedly at her friends, hands moving automatically to pack away her books and parchment in her school bag. She looked over at the table next to theirs where the sixth year Gryffindor boys had settled. What a sight they made- Hogwarts resident trouble makers quiet and studious, heads buried in their books. Sirius was leaning his chair back precariously on two legs, book in hand, whereas Remus was bent so close to his notes he had ink splotches on his nose. Peter seemed to have succumbed to the exhaustion they were all feeling after spending the entire day in the dusty library, his head pillowed on his arms as he snored softly.
But as she felt her brain slowly return to the real world, Lily found to her disappointment one Marauder was missing. She vaguely remembered James getting up sometime earlier, but for the life of her she couldn’t recall if he had said he was coming back or where he had gone. She turned to Sirius, but before she could say anything, he briskly informed her that he had no idea where James was. Lily closed her mouth in bemusement as Sirius cursed under his breath, before pushing his chair forward to reach for another book. She shook her head, and quietly whispered goodbye to the girls, and picked up her bag swiftly before departing.
As she made her way through the halls, she wondered idly where the wayward boy could have gone. When she passed one open window, she stopped suddenly. Peering through the glass at the Quidditch pitch, Lily smiled wryly. Of course- where else could have gone? She quickly made her way down and was out the castle doors in a few minutes.
The cobblestone pathway soon turned to grass as she walked over to the pitch, and her eyes immediately caught on the small black speck flying wildly through the air. She came to a stop in the middle of the pitch, and promptly sat down on the grass, her bag set to the side. Above her, James continued to streak through the air, performing loops and spirals that caught her breath.
He was a study in motion, robes flapping behind him as the wind blew through his hair. One quick dive down saw him fly closer to her, and she saw his eyes catch on her. He pulled his broom up gently to stop a couple of meters above her.
“Alright Evans?”
Lily smiled and nodded, eyes greedily taking in the deliciously windswept boy in front of her. The setting sun cast a warm glow over the pitch, turning James’ eyes a golden brown. He gave her a small grin, teeth flashing against his brown skin, before flying down to the ground, broom smoothly lifted up his shoulder in one move as he walked over to her.
“What are you doing down here?”
She craned her neck up at him, “I could ask you the same. Getting some extra practice before the scouts come?”
A strange expression crossed his face at that, one hand ruffling his hair. He dropped his broom and sank gracelessly to the grass, lanky legs crossing together. She watched as he plucked a few blades of grass, a dark brooding look on his face, as he ruminated on what to say. She let him sit in silence for a bit, and tipped her head back to bask in the warm sun, he red hair blowing gently with the breeze.
“I’ve uh, decided not to try out for the League teams.”
Lily blinked rapidly, and sat up abruptly. “What?” she asked incredulously.
James rubbed a hand down his face, knocking his glasses slightly askew, and gave her a fond look. “I said, I’ve decided not to tryout for the Quidditch League teams. I sent a letter this morning to the scouts.”
“Why the hell would you do that?! You’ve wanted to play professional for years James!”
He groaned, and fell onto his back. “I did. But, not anymore.”
She scrambled onto her knees and moved over to his side to shove his shoulder. “What do you mean ‘not anymore?’ Potter, you can’t just decide one day to give up your childhood dream that you’ve been working towards for years. What’s going on in that head of yours?”
He turned his head to her, and Lily felt her breath catch. His eyes were dark, his usual cheerful features pulled into a serious frown. “I’m thinking that there are more important things in the world than Quidditch. I’m thinking that I’d be better off spending my time doing the right thing than playing a stupid sport. I’m thinking it’s time to grow up, Lily.”
“But you love quidditch,” she whispered.
He smiled ruefully, one hand reaching up to push a lock of hair behind her ear. “I do. And it’ll always be my first love,” he said with a chuckle. “But it’s not the most important thing anymore.”
She swallowed more of her questions, and pulled his hand into her lap. “Are you going to fight?”
James let her play with his fingers before replying simply, “yes. Are you?”
She gripped his fingers tightly and shrugged her shoulders. “Don’t have much of a choice do I?”
“You could leave.”
She sent him a dry look, and he laughed softly. They sat in silence for a few minutes, the sun warm on her back and a cool breeze brushed over them. Then without warning, James pulled his hand from hers and stood swiftly. He grabbed his broom and turned to her, a bright grin on his face.
“But let’s leave these morose thoughts for now, Evans. Come on, let’s go for a fly like stupid teenagers. The books and the war can wait.”
He reached out a hand to her, and after a brief pause she took it. James pulled her to her feet, and placed his broom before her with a dramatic swish.
“Your carriage awaits, milady.”
She giggled, fondly rolling her eyes, before swinging a leg over the broomstick. James settled behind her, his body warm and firm against her back.
“Ready?” He whispered, breath tickling her ear. She nodded and gripped the handle tightly just as he kicked off. Her stomach rolled as they flew straight up, James expertly guiding the broom through the air. Lily let herself lean against him, and watched the sun set over the mountains, the sky turning a beautiful orange above them. They spent the evening like that— flying around the pitch in silence, as the air grew progressively cooler. But even as her face became slightly numb at the sharp winds, Lily was warm and comfortable against the boy behind her. Even lost boys have to grow up some time, she thought sadly. But she would miss the once careless boy who had become an honorable man. In the privacy of her mind, she cursed to herself, as she felt herself grown even fonder of the bespectacled boy behind her. James Potter was simply too much for a girl’s heart to resist.

fandom: harry potter. pairing:  remus lupin x reader | the reader simps for lupin because isn’t that all what we do daily ?  summary:   connected to the self indulgent series where the reader is a slytherin muggle born witch working alongside the teachers at hogwarts.   note: this series will bounce around a lot involving timelines, but a lot of them don’t really have a coherent story line anyway.  movie setting:  prisoner of askaban.  pov:   she/her pronouns.
you were looking off into the distance in a daze, end of pen in mouth as your writings came to a halt and instead getting caught up in thoughts.  your summer hadn’t been great,  if you were being completely honest :  your muggle friends were getting on your case regarding being missing for a year,  you knew at some point you had to pick : the wizarding world or the muggle one,   living two lives was absolutely exhausting,  living them meant being two types of people - like one example,  you had accidentally used a levitating spell to put a cup back and last minute your friend walked in, smashing on the floor as your hand flinched down to your side.
“ what was that crash ? “  “ i put the mug too close to the counter, “ you had laughed nervously, quickly walking towards the glass to pick it up “ it fell off as a result ”  “you’re clumsiness is going to be the death of you “
that was only one of the close calls,  there were far too many to keep track of,  including dropping hints to the wizarding world in conversation, only to stutter and try and say you were referencing a bizarre indie movie from overseas. at this point you were trying to pick would it be even possible to choose a side ?  it seemed impossible just to pick one over the other,  especially knowing that no matter what route you take it would result in an empty, hollow feeling left inside of chest.    you’re not sure who you could go to for guidance,  you weren’t familiar with any muggle borns your own age,  and talking to a pureblood or half blood would go in vein,  the latter would understand to some degree,  but ultimately it’s not the same and with it being so complicated,  listening to people who barely got it would be a waste of time and only twist the knife in gut.
“ everyone,  i would like to introduce you to remus jo - “     that was all you really heard dumbledore say before ears blocked out the world like static,  everything beyond the screaming in your head made everything else seem like a distant hum with no tune,  a crackle of a tv that can’t quite catch signal.  your pen tapped against your bottom lip,  perching against it as you eyebrows knitted together in deep thought.
maybe professor dumbledore could help,  he wouldn’t get it but maybe he could shred some light on the situation ? he was always good at that.
“ miss l/n - “
perhaps it’s all just being blown out of proportion,  work leave would surely be something the muggles would understand that.  even if they are after photos, work gossip and other details -
“ y/n “  between the firmness and the sudden block of your view as the men stepped into eyesight causes you to flinch,  reeling away from nothing in panic as you try and grasped your surroundings once more,   blinking up in a rapid succession that causes concern to flash on the two men’s faces.  it takes a moment to register where you were,  the surroundings,  what the hell was going on in general...
“ huh ? “  your tongue pokes out to roll against your bottom lip,  eyes wide as you stared up at dumbledore,  only for sight to break away from the one your most familiar with to the new guy...    you won’t lie to yourself,  you weren’t ready for seeing someone like him,  especially in your state.  his eyes were beaming with life,  amusement dancing behind dark hues as a faint smile tugged at lips,  hands pushed far into pockets as eye contact seemed to lock,  your lips part to say something,  anything but much like before your brain seemed to short circuit,  this time for an entirely and much more embarrassing reason,  “ huh ? “ you repeated again,  cheeks coming to life with colour as you kept looking at the new guy.
“ this is professor lupin, y/n.   the new defence against the dark arts teacher - “  speaking slower now,  and you’re rather grateful for the approach because you really needed things to stop going by so quickly,  the whole world seemed to flash in front of you at lightening speed.
“ oh “ a pause,  then it really began to register “ OH ! “  it was the most beautiful example of a pin drop ever to grace hogwarts’ walls  (  yes,  dumbledore will be thinking about it years to come  )   -  you jump up rather clumsily and hold your hand out to the man  “ hi,  sorry  -  i was just ... never mind,  hi  ! “ you repeated again,  the embarrassment settling deep within bones,  making itself at home in the creases of mind that would take weeks to weave out.  but regardless of the mocking in head, you do your best to not feed it and give it anymore attention... at least for the time being.   lupins much bigger hand wraps around yours,  a firm but gentle grasp as he finally takes the moment to speak himself.
“ that’s quite alright,  i can tell that we disturbed you.  in fact i believe we should be the ones apologising, however professor dumbledore here insisted on the introduction - “ it came easily,  between tone of his voice and the warmth of his hand, you’ve never felt safer, it was like being in a warm hug beside the fire on the night of winter;   you mentally slap yourself for acting like a teenager towards a complete stranger.   your eyes however, narrow towards dumbledore,  in a way blaming you own pathetic display on him.  a faint smile on his lips as he made up some excuse to leave the pair of you alone,  not at all hiding the way his eyes twinkled with amusement at the scene that played out.
your hand flexed around remus’,  far too busy sending daggers at dumbledore walking away than the fact you were still holding the older man hostage,  not helping the murmured   “ ugh,  he can be such an arse sometimes - “
“ i believe that’s apart of the charm “ remus chimed,  your eyes moving back to his as you smiled up at him once more,  less tense than what your face was previously  “ um,   miss l/n ?  your hand - “
“ oh, fuck, sorry - “   instantly your arms folded across your chest,  the blush only darkening your cheeks “ i promise i’m not this socially inept,  well,  at least to this extent - “
“ oh,  don’t fret.  i’ve met much worse people,  i myself tend to panic in social situations.  they’re not my forte “   you shoulders relax,  though you can’t help but note that he seemed surprisingly at ease even with the confession. your eyes dance around the staff room,  much to your own relief they seemed to be back to focusing on their own work.
“ well,  you’re doing much better than me if that’s any help.  so,  you’re teaching dark arts -  ? “ then the conversation seemed to spark to life without much spluttering after that,  eventually both sitting on the couch and bonding over lessons;  including how you got your position in the first place,   your arm rested on the back of the furniture as your body turned fully to him,  the longer the pair of you were sat there,  the more they progressed beyond work and more into personal ones, about experiences outside of hogwarts and within the walls, not helping the fits of giggles that bubbled in your chest.
“ being a slytherin comes with the natural title of ‘dark pranks,’  most of us tend to live up to the name.  people demonise us,  so we give them a reason to continue it.  that certainly doesn’t end at our humour, i think it shows more than ever in that aspect - “ you giggled again, head shaking  “ i remember my friends putting a real snake in one of the gryffindors bed covered in animals blood, the girl panicked for weeks  -  but they started it  ! “
“ i must say being a gryffindor myself,  i feel like i should be offended on behalf of them.  then again,  my friends here were trouble makers as well.  their pranks could... “  wrist rolled in the air,  and while there’s a hint of pain twisting in features and a haunted look that seemed to cover bright eyes,  there was still a fondness in how he spoke  “ extremely, well and truly out of hand ? “
“ ahah  ! “  it’s like a triumph,  finger pointing at the others face   “ you can hide behind the fancy wording all you want, professor.  but you gryffindors can be just as over the top as the rest of us,  if not more so ! “  he knocks your hand away from his face playfully,  grin widening as mock offence does its best to take over features.
“ firstly,  you may call me remus,  second of all,  i will agree with nothing you say,  i would never stoop so low. “
your heart skipped a beat at the notion.
“ you may call me y/n, only when you admit i’m right - “
a nice joke to push down the giddiness of calling him by his first name the short hours of knowing him.
“ how very slytherin of you - “
“ how very gryffindor of you to point that out, remus “
the back and forth banter eventually came to a halt, as minutes ticked by it was time to go to the great hall for food and to sort out the new years. you and remus walked in a comfortable silence,  a lightness surrounding you both as it showed in your steps, and showed in the way his lips remained locked in a subtle smile.  you were left with one feeling...  finally, dumbledore hired someone worthwhile. you would also give him a hard time for that awkward bow that he did at dinner.

Part 3

Summary: You're Lily Evans' little sister. She isn't the only witch in the family.
Remus Lupin Masterlist
Tumblr media
In your fourth year, again not much change. Well, a little change.
You ran down the stairs, late. It was night so your friends looked up at you shocked. You'd fallen asleep after your lessons and had slept right through your detention with Mcgonagall.
You stop behind the couch, reaching over and grabbing Remus's wrist to look at his watch. He raises an eyebrow at you. "Shit," you say under your breath and drop the boy's wrist.
"What is it?" Peter asks. Lily walks over to you, putting a hand on your shoulder. A couple girls from your class chuckle at the other side of the room. Lily and the boys look over at them, confused. You curl your lip.
"Y/N, are you alright?" She asks. You look at your sister again.
"I missed it completely. I'm doomed. I'm going to be killed." She looks confused. You groaned, turning and falling over the couch. Landing next to Remus, hanging upside down.
"What did you miss?" James asks, amused.
"I'll answer that with a question. What happens when you miss a detention with Mcgonagall?" You ask, smiling innocently. The boys all turned surprised. But mainly Lily.
"Why did you have a detention?!" She exclaims. You look at your sister.
"Yeah... about that... that's... not important," you say. You open your mouth to speak again, but Sirius beats you to it.
"Not important? You've never had detention," he says. "You're the best at getting away with things." You roll your eyes. The girl from your class walks over smirking. You glare at her.
"Don't," you say, as a warning. She just smirks more.
"Y/N got in trouble for punching a Ravenclaw in Mcgonagall's class. But, hey, she won the fight at least. You know, I heard he'll be spending the night in the infirmary," she says. You quickly get off the couch, taking a step towards her, to which she scrambled back. The only reason you stopped was because Remus grabbed you around the waist. The girl quickly turned back to her friends and they all ran up to their dorm quickly.
"Those girls were scared of you!" Sirius exclaims.
"No shit," you say, rolling your eyes. Remus lets go of you hesitantly. "Why the hell did you get into a fight?" Lily asks.
"I'd like to know that as well, Miss. Evans." Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. You turn on your heel to see Mcgonagall standing in the doorway. You pressed your lips together, nodding.
"Mystery to me," you say, a hint of sarcasm. Your sister looks shocked by your behavior besides you. The boys all look at eachother. Mcgonagall doesn't reveal anything.
"Come with me, Miss. Evans," she says. You glance at your sister.
"There's two of us, but I'm going to take a wild guess and assume you mean me," you say, taking a few steps closer. She just turns and walks out of the portrait. You go to follow her, and feel a hand on your wrist. You raise an eyebrow at Remus. "I kinda have to go."
He looks confused, while looking over your face. You just turn, taking your wrist out of his grasp and walk off with Mcgonagall.
That night when you finally make it back from your detention, you see the boys sprawled out throughout the common room. You were confused. Sirius was using James as a pillow on the floor and James was using Peter. Remus sat awake on the couch. You walked over, hopping over the couch to land next to him. You smile at him.
"Hi," you say. He just looks at you for a second.
"What the hell is going in with you?" He asks. You gave him a confused look.
"What do you mean?" You ask. He scoffs.
"A detention? Fighting in Mcgonagall's class? And you've been hanging around with Slytherins?" He asks. Sure, you had gotten closer with a few kids from Slytherin but so what?
"They're not all bad, Rem," you say. He nods, turning to face you better.
"I know that. But I'm not so sure about the ones you're around." You rolled your eyes.
"Oh, please," you say, crossing your arms. "They're my friends."
"I'm sure they are. But are they good ones?" He asks. You give your bestfriend a sharp look.
"Yes. They are. I like them and they like me, what's so wrong with that?" You ask. He sighs.
"Nothing. Nothing's wrong. They've got good judgement. But some kids from your year said-"
"What? That they're trouble makers? That they're going to be a bad influence? What exactly do you think people say about you guys?" You ask, glancing at the three sleeping boys on the ground. You roll your eyes and stand up. Or try to but Remus pulls you back down.
"Come on, Y/N. You know what? I'll drop it. For now," he says. You study him for a second, before nodding.
"Good," you say, going to stand up again but he doesn't let go of your arm.
"The guys won't wake up. Want to stay down here tonight?" He asks. You glance down at the sleeping boys. You sigh and nod, leaning back. Remus goes to stand up and you shake your head.
"Hey, if I'm staying so are you," you say. He smiles a little bit and nods.
"I know. I was just giving you the couch," he says. You shake your head again.
"Same goes for the couch," you say. He looks a little confused. You chuckle, pushing him back lightly on the couch. He raises an eyebrow at you and you lay on your side next to him. He finally figures it out and wraps an arm around you, letting you lay your head on his chest. He was warm, and a nice pillow.
The next morning you woke up to Sirius jumping ontop of you and Remus. You groaned, turning your face more into Remus's chest. You felt Remus kick Sirius off of the two of you. James goes around the ouch and ruffles your hair. You swipe at his hand without looking up.
You heard three out of the four boys laughing and felt Remus chuckling. You looked up at him, and glared. He found that even more amusing.
"Morning to you too," he says. You roll your eyes, sitting up. You never changed last night. None of you did.
"Here's what I'm thinking. Two weeks from today is a Hogsmeade Saturday. That night... we have a party?" James asks, nudging Remus's shoulder. He glares at his friend. You roll your eyes, getting up.
You go up, and shower and change.
And within a week, all the Gryffindors knew about James' party. You were in the court yard by yourself when your friend from Slytherin, Seb, walked over. He smiled, his natural smile being more of a smirk. You looked up at him.
"Hey," you say. He crouches down next to you.
"Hey. I was wondering if you wanted to go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?" He asks. You raise an eyebrow at the boy. "Yes, as a date." You smiled a little. That would be your first date. And the boy had light hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. The opposite of Remus. You didn't know why that thought popped into your head, and you didn't like it.
You nod, shrugging. "Sure, I'd like that." He smirks for real now.
"Great. I'll see you Saturday." You nod and he stands, walking off. The boys walk over as soon as he's gone. Remus was next to you.
"What did he want?" Peter asks.
"To ask me to Hogsmeade," you say plainly. The boys all look at you. Sirius raises an eyebrow.
"And? What did you say?" He asks. You shrug, taking a bite of your red apple.
"I said yes," you say nonchalantly. Mary comes running over, putting her hands on your shoulders to stop herself.
"Is it true? Do you really have your first date?!" She exclaims excitedly. You stared at her.
"How the bloody hell do you know that?" Sirius asks.
"It literally just happened!" James says. She shrugs.
"I have my ways." At this point the other girls had made their way over. "So is it true?"
"Yeah, why?" You ask.
"It's a big deal, Y/N," Lily says. "Aren't you excited?"
"I guess. It's just a date. You've literally all been on them before," you say, rolling your eyes. Sirius gasps.
"But this is a momentous occasion!" He exclaims.
"Sirius I do believe our little girl is growing up. Putting kids in the infirmary and now her first date. I couldn't be more proud," James says, putting an arm around Sirius' shoulder. You glare at them as Sirius puts a hand over his heart, and rests his head on James' shoulder.
"Oh, shut up."
"It's true! I say we're losing her," Sirius says, looking at James.
"Oh no!" He exclaims. Then he glances at Peter. "Wait, it's fine, we've still got Wormtail," he says. You smirk a little. Peter frowns at his friends.
You look at Remus who was already looking at you. He made eye contact for a second, then looked at his friends.

Hai! May I request a scenario or headcanon of James, Sirius, and Remus offering Fred to become the fourth marauder in the afterlife? Thxx 😁💕
The Marauders Welcoming Fred Into The Afterlife
Tumblr media
masterlist ~ enjoy
Well, first things first, let’s all agree that Sirius, James, and Remus are all teenagers again since that was the happiest time of all their lives.
This brings up A LOT of confusion when Fred enters the afterlife.
James is the first one Fred comes into contact with.
“-Harry? Is that you?”
“Close, but no. Name’s James, nice to finally meet you. Assuming you’re the mischief-maker I’ve heard so much about, of course.”
Fred is just sort of staring at him with confusion.
“Sorry, but do I know you?”
“In a way, yes. Shoulda’ introduced myself better, I’m Prongs.”
Fred’s confused expression turns to WIDE EYES
“I owe you so much, merlin.”
James just has a cocky, shit-eating grin
“Hey! We helped!”
Sirius and Remus come up behind James, smacking him on the shoulder.
“Ay, what are you doing here?”
“Professor?!”
James smacks Remus in return, the evergrowing smile still gracing his face
“Professor Lupin over here pretty much did all the heavy lifting.”
Remus figured out all the technical magic
James drew out all of the corridors and did all of the mapping
Sirius did all the titles and all the script
“Padfoot and Moony,” Fred realizes, looking between the two boys. “Makes sense in hindsight”
Fred is older than the marauders, weirdly enough
In the afterlife, you are the age where you are the happiest.
Fred is 17
The Marauders are 16
It kinda fucks with Fred’s mind, to be honest.
The marauders describe how they made the map and did their pranks
But its all VERY mundane compared to what Fred and George did during their reign at Hogwarts
“You turned the corridors into a swamp?! Why didn’t we think of that?”
Fred is quickly accepted into the marauders’ friend group
This included Lily, Marlene, Dorcas, Mary etc
Lily comforting Fred when he thinks of George, promising that he will reunite with his brother soon
Lily overall just taking great care of Fred, just like Molly did for Harry
Talking with James about quidditch
“I was rather good when I was at Hogwarts…”
“Whatever you say, Grandpa.”
Fred also showing up when Harry holds the resurrection stone
Fred asking Harry to lookout for George, making sure he keeps the shop up and running
“If he stops laughing hit him upside the head, will ya?”
Harry explaining that he might not make it back to tell George that
Fred just smiles and says, “Not with that attitude, you won’t.”
It takes a while before they ask Fred to join the marauders officially
Remus brings it up, saying that it feels weird with only three
Sirius agrees and says that with their combined pranking expertise, they can cause some real havoc
James is a little wary of it, as he doesn’t know Fred overly well
But the way Fred talks about his son really comforts him
Fred sharing secrets about Harry to James that Sirius and Remus don’t know
Just small stories about some questionable things he said or did
There’s no need to call me sir, professor.
James is having such a good time that he just flat out asks
Fred is hesitant to accept, not wanting to intrude where he had no business being
His mother taught him better than that
“Me? A marauder?”
“I don’t see why not,” Sirius says, leaning back in his chair. “You already are, if I’m being completely honest.”
“You can show us the ins and outs of Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, I’ve been itching to know since I first saw it.” Remus adds.
Fred’s smile is undeniable
Lily cringes, knowing the trouble the original three get themselves into
So now there’s a more advanced version?
CHAOS!!!!!!!
The four of them cause an unbelievable amount of mischief until someone new enters the afterlife
George, aged 17, has now entered the party
And the real fun begins
and Lily cringes, AGAIN

Hey I wanted to ask have you seen that really popular post that suggested James was the real genius behind the Potion hacks from the Prince's book, and that Snape overhead him in class and stole his ideas.? I personally am conflicted because on one hand it makes total sense that James would have more knowledge and talent in Potions than Snape (because of Fleamont), but on the other hand it also means James was the one who invented levicorpus and sectumsempra, and I'm not sure about that..
If I’m going to be 100% honest, I never understood it nor liked that headcanon. If you follow me on here, you know I heavily dislike Snape but oets give credit where credit is due. It’s his potions book, his potions recipes, and his spells. He made them. James is extremely intelligent in his own right. He literally made head boy without being a prefect first. He’s one of the smartest people in Marauders era. I actually believe that if he didn’t get so much detentions, he would’ve been made prefect instead of Remus. I love the idea that he’s good at potions because his father was a famous potions maker and it would go in line with the skills parents pass down to child (Ex: Harry making the quidditch team during his first time on a broom). Going with James’ character, it doesn’t seem likely for him to invent spells with dark magic. While with Snape, it’s completely in character to invent spells like that.
To go a little more depth, if you told me that Snape and Lily invented the potions hack together, then that would be more understandable and be more in line with what we know of Marauders era. Slughorn loved Lily Evans because she was one of his best students. The way Slughorn feels about Lily Evans makes me believe she was probably the brightest student he’s ever had and a potions genius. Lily and Snape were friends and them working together on potions and potion hacks due to her amazing skills would make a lot more sense and be more appealing to me rather than James “always in trouble” Potter being interested enough in potions to make hacks for it. I also like the idea of Harry having something that was his mother’s. He has the eyes but not her skills. Just my thoughts though! :)

Summary: If he thought himself a king of the office, then Logan was honored to be the guillotine. [aka When his coworker, Remus, decides to play a game, Logan is going to make sure he regrets it. Even if its the last thing he does.]

When Logan had first put on the ring, he hadn’t expected it to end like this.
But that was mostly his own folly: Logan should have realized that based on his (lack of) knowledge concerning the behaviors of Remus Prince, his imagined plan of action would be....upended. After all, he had barely known the man beyond the occasional sight of  him in the break room where he teetered on the edge of the counter sitting much like a king as his subjects bowed before him.
Logan was of the sound impression that absolutely everyone who had been hired for his company was of the particularly stupid brand. Often times he had imagined his boss had sat down in the interviews and hired the first person who walked in and smiled, because clearly Beatrice from Accounting did not know what she was doing and her inability to use Excel spreadsheets had led him to far too many late nights correcting her work.
It was one such night that had lead to this...this ludicrous situation: Logan had been in his office all day practically tearing his hair out over his coworkers inability to count (what did you do with the decimal point, Kyle? Where did this five come from? Why are you all so inept?) and his coffee had gone cold, and he should have been leaving an hour ago, but these pages had been due two weeks ago and Logan hated leaving things unfinished.
He had a headache brewing from staring at his screen for so long. He peeled off his glasses and rubbed his eyes until they watered before glancing at the clock in the bottom of his screen. After a quick and efficiently ruthless curse towards Janet for being so late to turn in any of her sheets, he scooted back in his chair and had left to refill in coffee mug.
The office floor had been deserted for the most part. Logan should have been grateful, because that meant less possible nonsense to distract him from his work.
But unfortunately, he was quite familiar with Jen’s hair in a loose-but-still-formal bun and Quin’s scarf that they wore like a talisman to ward off bad omens. They clutched it the second they noticed Logan approaching the two of them, as if he had been coming to deliver an upsetting diagnosis and not to use the coffee machine they were standing in front of.
And because Logan was absolutely not in the mood to talk to either of them, Jen had caught sight of him and puffed her cheeks in anger, like some sort of puffer fish. She tuned to face him fully with her arms on her hips and gave him some equivalent to a “death glare”, as Logan assumed people would call it.
“What are you doing here?” She asked.
“I work here,” Logan said, perhaps a little snappish, “Now, might I get to the coffee machine?”
She had huffed, tapped her foot thrice, and then shuffled to the side just enough that Logan could get to the coffee machine.
Thankfully, just enough was still technically enough. He placed his mug beside the coffee maker and checked the cartridge for leftover used grinds because-- once again-- all of his coworkers were extremely disappointing when it came to using their brains.
Jen huffed again and she was close enough that absolutely all of Logan’s internal alarms started ringing. He snapped the cartridge --thankfully clean, Logan ideally wondered if maybe it was possible they were learning. Oh wouldn’t that be a miracle?-- closed and debated giving up on the coffee all together. But he could still see grid patterns when he closed his eyes, so he dug out his preferred coffee brand and set up the maker.
Quin opened their mouth and closed it again several times. It was clear from the way they shifted on their feet and and looked anywhere but at Jen or him that they were uncomfortable. Logan found himself praying to gods that he didn’t believe in that they would hold off until he had his coffee and was safely back in his office.
“I see Remus cleaned your mug.” Quin mumbled softly because the gods that Logan didn’t believe in don’t exist and he was on this planet purely to suffer.
But they had made a semi-valid point. Remus had cleaned his cup just as Logan had requested--just as was basic human politeness when using something of someone else’s possession, regardless of the fact that Remus Prince had not asked permission to use it in the first place. Logan felt his nose twitch in irritation at the memory of the other day.
“Yes,” Logan said between his gritted teeth. Had the coffee machine always been this slow? Or perhaps it was showing its age by taking longer to make his miserable coffee. He was sure that he could move some funds around to get them a new machine by Thursday if he could just make it back to his office--
“That’s all you have to say?” Jen sniped, “Just “Yes”? Unbelievable!”
“If you have an issue,” Logan said to her, “Please keep it to yourself.”
She slammed a hand on the counter, “I cannot believe you! Perfect Logan Ackroyd! You’re just like all the rest of them!”
“Curious how this sounds very much like you are not keeping your issue to yourself,” Logan commented.
“Jen--” Quin said, but she acted much like puddle of gasoline after a match dropped on it.
She got red in the face and her neat eyebrows smashed together as she stared down him with a snarl that most certainly did not belong in the workplace. She stamped her foot like some sort of child-- honestly? Logan shouldn’t have been surprised seeing how he had been able to hear the meltdown that happened after her messy breakup with Kyle. It had been so loud that Remus had even had the gall to look moderately shocked when everything had gone down.
“Where do you guys get off on taking advantage of your significant other’s trust in you?” Jen growled, “Is it fun for you? Do you not care about our feelings? Maybe we weren’t so far off when we said you were a robot, Mr. Ackroyd! You’re cold and cruel and I hope that when your affair comes to light--”
“Jennifer,” Logan hissed, “choose your next words extremely carefully, because I have spent eleven hours going over spreadsheets that have been done wrong and am not in the mood to listen to you prattle about lost love. In case you have forgotten, I very much have control over your sector and it will only take three emails to have you demoted and-or removed from this company.”
Jen’s mouth snapped shut.
Logan thought that was the first merciful thing that had happened all day. He picked up his coffee, holding it tightly in his hand despite the heat radiating off it and headed out of the breakroom.
He stopped at the door, as the dregs of the conversation spun through his brain. “Did you imply that I was having an affair?”
Quin was wringing their hands and Jen was clawing her nails into the counter. Still, they nodded.
“Who told you that?”
And really, Logan should have expected the answer. Of course it was Remus Prince, the advertising privateer who had turned the entire company into some sort of drama circus with his half truths and his lack of a mouth filter.
The Robot Extravaganza had stolen the peace and quiet of Logan’s work atmosphere and driven him up the figurative walls. That week alone had eight times more people rapping on his door frame than he had had in the entire year previously. And of course that ridiculous white board they had put up in the far wall as if Logan was incapable of reading and comprehending words. It was unprofessional and childish and Logan had barely gotten any work done when he had been constantly interrupted with mundane questions of “Logan do you need to eat?”, “Logan how do you shower without rusting?”, “Logan do you have batteries or do you plug yourself in at night?”, “Logan!”, “Logan!”, “Logan!”.
Not to mention the way that Remus had laughed the entire time as if he found the idea of Logan being harassed particularly amusing. And Logan hated that laugh. It was terrible and awful and grating, and it made Logan want to tear out his hair because it sounded so much like---
“Is that so,” Logan said absently to Jen and Quin. “Remus Prince told you I was having an affair.”
He shifted to hold his mug with both hands, his eyes slipping over to that counter where Remus had been sitting before, with that same mug between his legs daring suggestive thoughts. How many times had Logan seen him sitting there looking like he could control the whole world with a few crass comments?
It was a game to him, wasn’t it? A game that Remus loved to play because he always won.
And who better to fix that than Logan who had been craving for revenge like it was a figurative itch under his very skin?
“Ah, well then,” Logan said and then because he was very much not the type to let people misinterpret him, he added, “I hadn’t realized my husband’s antics would upset you so much, Jen. I apologize on his behalf.”
That got their attentions real quick. Quin’s neck cracked with the force of which they turned their head to look him in the eye. Jen blinked several times as if she was having trouble processing things.
“Husband?” Jen repeats, as if she hadn’t heard the term before.
Logan straightened his back, “I’ll repeat myself slower since this seems to be overwhelming for your small brain. Remus Prince and I are married.”
“You’re a real asshole!” She covered her mouth and then fluttered her hands in a bootless waste of motions. “You’re serious? Wait of course you are! How could I forget, necktie! Oh my god, you’re serious. You and Remus?”
Logan took a sip of his coffee. “I have spreadsheets to amend.”
“Wait wait wait! I want details! Logan get back, here!” Jen screeched after him.
Logan wondered vaguely if this was the reason why Remus spread these rumors so often: the short zappy thrill that had ignited his neurons was much more effective than his coffee could ever hope to be. And Jen had believed him without a hesitance-- which truly was revealing of her hot headed nature. It was, dare he say, exciting. He hadn’t felt this way since his college lab days when he had tackled the creation of experiments with unbridled vigour.
Just how much was she willing to accept just because Logan had been the one to tell her? Just how wild of an accusation could Logan offer up before she wisened up? How quickly would this get back to Remus?
Logan itched to set up an experiment to test it all out. After all he would only get one chance to do this: most certainly when Remus gathered wind of how Logan had turned his false information back on him, Remus would come clean and admit that they had never even seen each other.
It would ruin both of their reputations. Remus as someone who spread truths, and Logan as someone who could be believed in every instance.
But Remus would still choose it over allowing anyone in the work area to think they were married. Logan knew this easily, obviously, irrefutably. They were strangers, not even acquaintances.
“Janet! Janet!” Jen screeched surprisingly loud for someone of her stature. “Janet did you know that Remus and Logan are married?”
Logan hadn’t realized Janet was still there at all, but at the accusation she flung backwards from her cubical in her rolling office chair and nearly crashed into Logan on just feet from his private office door.
“Run that by me again!” She demanded, “Remus and Logan?”
Logan opened his door and let himself in but before he could close it, Janet wedged her foot in the way.
“No way! Remus doesn’t wear a ring!”
“Allergic to metals,” Logan listed off the top of his head.
“You don’t wear a ring, either!” Janet said grabbing at his hand and nearly causing him to spill his coffee.
And well….
Quin, Jen, and Janet were all standing at his door, ready to believe whatever he said. He could have just said he was also allergic to metals too, but there was dubious gleam in Janet’s eyes, because yes, this is the sole thing she seemed to be knowledgeable about.
If Janet didn’t believe him now, then Jen would get even more upset at him than before and that would ruin the surprise for Remus tomorrow. A half baked revenge wouldn’t be nearly as good as the one he was expecting.
So he needed a ring.
His eyes slipped over his shoulder to the dinner jacket slumped on the chair in the corner of the room, crumpled and abandoned and gathering dust with the filing cabinet and the box of records that Logan had arranged his first week on the job.
He needed a ring.
And really it was just for one night.
He could pretend.
So Logan swallowed the sudden unexpected lump in his throat and tracked the three steps to the chair to dig the silver band from the pocket. He tried to remember how long it had been there, how long he had tried shoving it from his mind, and pretending like it and the jacket and that night had never existed.
It had been a reminder for so long now: like a flashing sign in the night had warned him that a relationship would never be worth that again, that romantic pursuits were frivolous and fleeting and meaningless.
Regardless, it felt like putting on one of his favorite ties, like slipping into his shoes that were broken in perfectly, like it was made for him.
(It hadn’t been and wasn’t that the most ridiculous part of the story?)
It was only for one night, so he let Jen and Janet and Quin ogle over it and answered their questions efficiently. He tore into Remus’s reputation as subtly as he could, making Quin flee the room and Janet fan her face and Jen cackle. He made up a story about a summer wedding, about a honeymoon he thought was just ridiculous, about late night activities he could never imagine doing with anyone.
And when they left, Logan had stared at the band engraved so delicately for another ten minutes.
“A robot,” Logan said to himself.
Is that what he had thought, too?
Logan shook his head to clear his mind. He tossed the ring in his pencil cup and gathered his bag and car keys.
If he allowed himself to ignore the lapse in reality, he could even pretend like using the ring in this fashion was the same as saying “Fuck you” to the man he had almost married a year ago.
It was just one night, and an hour or so tomorrow morning after all.
Logan arrived the next day earlier than normal, which was an unexpected surprise. He got to flick on the lights and watch the floor illuminate itself. His shoes made a lovely type of clack on the tiling.
It used to feel lonely, being this early to work, but Logan found himself distracted by the anticipation of the days promised events.
He finished correcting Janet's spreadsheets and sent them off for proper filing, reorganized his desk, slipped on his ring, and managed to get his coffee brewed before most of the office had come alive.
"Holy shit," he heard Kyle whisper to Max, "Is Logan smiling?"
Curious. It seemed that he was. Logan settled himself against the wall of the break room, Remus’s preferred cup in hand, where he had an excellent view of the cubical where Remus came up with his schemes. Jen, Janet, and Beatrice were already huddling around the entrance, much like a committee of domesticated vultures preparing for a feast.
By the time that Remus showed up to the office, running three minutes late, Logan was nearly giddy. Perhaps he could understand why Remus did what he did, if this was the sort of feeling that he experienced every time he opened his mouth.
Logan had seen many beautiful things in his lifetime; one of his hobbies was visiting art museums, art galleries, movie premieres and the likes while on his mandatory three weeks of time off from work. Still nothing could quite capture the glee that was invoked directly into Logan when Remus’s eyes had widened and his jaw dropped and his face flushed with embarrassment when Quinn squeaked at the sight of him.
Remus Prince looked like a work of art when the world dumped him on the floor and left him too shocked to speak.
If he thought himself a king of the office, then Logan was honored to be the guillotine.
Except.
“Logie!” Remus whined, throwing his arms up, “I thought we agreed to keep it a secret!”
Logan’s smile vaporized, almost instantly, “Wait--”
“You Mischievous Mathematician, You!” Remus giggled crossing the area far quicker than a person should be able to cross that distance. Logan blinked and suddenly Remus was right in front of him, a foot, half a foot, a handful of inches. And his voice only seemed to get louder, bolder, more excited with every step. Logan had a hypothesis that all twenty eight of the workers on the floor were watching them with baited breath.
“Well I’m happy!” Remus said loudly for Kyle and Jen and Janet and Beatrice and, and, and-- “I’ve missed getting lunch together! Let’s go to the sandwich shop down the street!”
“Absolutely not--”
“Or we could do that Thai restaurant that’s your favorite!” Remus said, which tripped Logan up because Remus had noticed he preferred Thai? Logan couldn’t even remember the last time he had Thai! How could Remus have possibly known he liked Thai?
“I’ll pay!” Remus said when Logan hadn’t responded quick enough to turn down the lunch proposal. “Oh this is going to be so much fun, Lolo!”
And Remus came in far too close, closer than anyone has been to him in a year. His eyes were brown with flecks of green dark enough to seem like a swamp at Twilight. They gleamed as he fluttered his lashes at Logan and his mouth curls into a pointed smile.
“Let’s play,” Remus said so softly that Logan himself could barely hear it. And then he pulled back, and stepped away with Logan’s coffee in his hands. He took a long sip and licked his lip afterwards. “Mmm! Just how I like it Lo! You’re so good to me!”
Logan knew for a fact that Remus did not like black coffee. He’d seen the numbers that went into buying creamer for the break room.
Just what did Remus think he was doing? Playing along with Logan’s rumor reversal? Encouraging it?
Remus smiled at him. “Lunch it is!” He said and waved Logan goodbye with his fingers.
Of course Logan could out him right there, right then. All he had to say was that it was a lie and that he and Remus were in no way married and he had no intentions of having lunch together. But for some reason the words seemed to be figuratively jammed in his throat, leaving him with nothing more than splutterings to vocalize his frustration.
Fine. Logan inhaled through his nose, curled his lip, and twisted his watch on his left hand to center his thoughts. Remus would like to play a game?
Fine. Logan could play a game with him.
“Aren’t you forgetting something, dearest?” Logan said before Remus could get too far away.
He could see the way Remus’s eyes light up at the nickname, the twitch of his mustache where he was struggling not to laugh too boldly. “Am I?”
“I did make you coffee. Do you not tip your barista?”
“Ah,” Remus swirled the mug, “And how does my “barista” like his tips then?”
When Logan had put on the ring, he had not expected to end up with Remus’s lips on his.
And yet.
Remus kissed like he was dying and wanted to make every second last, like he was living for the moment, like he had nothing left too lose. Logan thought it was ridiculous that he tasted like pickles this early in the morning.
“I think you’ll find I won’t fold that easily, Specs,” Remus breathed when he pulled back.
Logan replied, “May the best man win.”
And then he took his coffee back out of Remus’s hands and headed back to his office with that ring firmly on his hand. It appeared that he would need it for just a bit longer.

Pairing: Remus Lupin x reader
Summary: You and Remus were together for eight years. When James and Lily died and Sirius was sent to Azkaban, things got really difficult and he eventually left you. Now you meet again at Hogwarts after you helped Sirius escape and clear everything up. The past is discussed.
a/n: This is the morning after Remus’ transformation and chasing after Harry and Hermione in Prisoner of Azkaban. Reader and Remus were reunited in the Shrieking Shack, but that was focused on Peter so I didn’t think it was relevant to this piece in particular as they didn’t have time to talk there.
Warnings: mentions of death, language, angst.
Word count: 2,960

“So this is your office.”
“Was. Was my office.”
Remus was emptying the old drawers of the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher’s office. The news about his condition would soon be spread, so the logical thing to do was leave before it did. He wasn’t happy about it, of course – it was yet another job he was losing for the same damn reason. He reckoned that was something that would follow him his entire life, though. At this point, he was merely used to it.
“It was your office,” you repeated, nodding slowly. “I’m sorry you have to leave. I know the kids loved having you as their teacher.”
“You do?” he looked up from the suitcase he was filling with books.
“I had a little chat with Hermione. ‘The best DADA teacher we’ve had so far’, if I remember correctly.”
“Not a very hard title to win. They’ve only had two teachers before me – one had You-Know-Who on the back of his head, and the other was a narcissistic self-proclaimed hero.”
“You’ll never learn how to take a compliment, will you?”
Remus looked down at his suitcase again, a small sheepish smile on his lips.
You had been resting your shoulder on the door frame, arms crossed and eyes everywhere. The office looked smaller than it did in your head. You started to walk around, carefully observing anything interesting you found, arms still crossed on your chest.
“I remember last time I was here,” you broke the silence. “Many years ago when I was just a stupid teenager.”
“You were never stupid,” Remus interrupted.
“Oh, I was. Very much. And I was here because I was in trouble. Professor Jones had caught me cheating on his test. I don’t know if you’ll remember.”
“I remember,” Remus nodded. “You and Sirius got caught, and James felt guilty he hadn’t, so he turned himself in.”
“Yeah! Wow, that was so long ago,” you thought about it for a few seconds before continuing. “Anyway, I was standing here, Sirius and James by my side, and we were all staring at Professor Jones, who was standing right there where you are, behind the desk. He made us sit down and write some famous quote about integrity over and over again.”
“And I dare say neither of you learned the lesson.”
“Depends on what lesson you’re talking about. We cheated on the following test, but didn’t get caught – that lesson we learned.”
Remus snorted a discrete laugh through his nose, eyes on the books he was packing. “I suppose that’s good.”
“Yeah, it is. I mean… it was.”
Remus looked up at you. The history behind your words flooded his mind just as much as it flooded yours, and both of you missed the times when all you had to worry about was detention.
And when you had each other’s embrace to run to. Yeah, that too.
“We had fun, didn’t we, Remus?”
“We did,” he nodded. “But these last years wouldn’t have been so bad if I hadn’t fucked up everything.”
“Stop. I didn’t come here to have this conversation.”
“But we need to have this conversation, Y/N. I need to have this conversation.”
“You asked me for forgiveness right before transforming last night, do you remember? You apologized. And I said I forgive you. We don’t need to talk about this.”
“We do,” Remus walked around the desk and approached you, stopping just a meter away. “There are things I need to say, things that I need you to hear. A simple ‘I’m sorry’ is not enough.”
You looked at each other for a few seconds. Hesitation and uncertainty in your eyes, hope and urgency in Remus’.
“Please,” he muttered.
You chewed on your bottom lip, thinking you weren’t ready for this yet. Yes, you forgave him – you had forgiven him years ago, even before he apologized. But it still hurt. Ten years passed since Remus left you, but the pain was still all too real. It was not left in the past, as you wished.
At the time, you tried to hate him. You tried to despise him, but you failed – you loved him way too much for that. You felt betrayed and abandoned, and you resented him for a while, yes. But hate? You never could, no matter how many times you had made yourself think of him as a coward, a traitor, a selfish asshole. You knew it wasn’t true. Your heart was broken and you wanted to hate him for breaking it, but… you failed.
And now, you knew you were not ready to have this conversation yet. You didn’t resent him anymore and you had forgiven him already, but it still hurt. The past hurt. And you weren’t ready to touch those wounds yet.
“Please, Y/N.”
“Remus, I-”
“I just need you to listen. You don’t have to say or do anything. Just listen.”
You looked into Remus’ pleading eyes and felt like you had no strength to fight any emotions anymore. You would be lying if you said you didn’t want to listen to what he had to say – because you did, very much – but you knew that you just weren’t ready yet.
“I don’t think I can.”
“But… why?”
“I don’t know, Remus,” you sighed, defeated. “I think it’ll break me. I don’t want to relive the past. At least, not right now.”
Remus looked down at his feet, a gesture that instantly reminded you of the shy boy he once was, and you had to close your eyes so you wouldn’t start crying right then and there. He nodded and stepped back, swallowing hard as he carried on with his packing.
“I forgive you. That’s not up to discussion,” you stated, your voice weaker than you intended. “I want you to know that.”
He nodded again, not looking up.
“And I will listen to what you have to say. Just not today.”
“Okay,” he mumbled.
“I’m happy to be here and I want it to stay like that. I’m happy to see you, I’m happy that Sirius is free, I’m happy I got to see Harry all grown… God! Lily’s eyes.”
“But looks just like James,” Remus whispered, a shy smile on the corner of his lips as he still looked down at his suitcase and not at you.
“Yeah. The hair… It’s insane.”
Silence suddenly reigned in the room, making you feel small. Remus had finished emptying the drawers and was now trying to close his super full suitcase. The only sounds in the office came from the Grindylow’s tank in the corner.
You slowly approached the desk, noticing the countless pieces of parchment spread on it. Some were assignments Remus’ students would never get back directly from him, and you knew that would make them sad. However, you noticed a familiar piece of parchment on the table.
“Is that…?” you pointed at it and Remus stopped to look.
“Yes. I intend to give it back to Harry.”
“Awesome,” you reached out, fascinated. “May I…?”
“Of course.”
It was hard to hide the excitement you were feeling at that moment. After all, it was the first time in over a decade that you were able to see and touch the Marauder’s Map.
“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good,” you whispered as you pressed the tip of your wand against it.
Thin ink lines began to spread like a spider’s web. They joined each other, they criss-crossed, they fanned into every corner of the parchment; then words began to blossom across the top, great, curly green words, that proclaimed: Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs Purveyors of Aids to Magical Mischief-Makers are proud to present THE MARAUDER’S MAP.
Your heart sank. You felt the tears stinging your eyes, but you merely blinked them away. So many memories came at once into your mind, it was hard to keep track of them.
You could read your own name in the Defence Against the Dark Arts office, but not Remus’. That didn’t surprise you. You knew only a Marauder could read another Marauder’s name on the map.
“I hadn’t realized how much I missed this,” you whispered as you traced your name with the tip of your fingers.
“Yeah… me neither.”
“Is this how you found out I was here?”
“No. I recognized you outside my classroom’s window weeks ago. You really fascinated the Ravenclaw first-years. They all thought you had been sent by Rowena Ravenclaw herself.”
You laughed as you recollected the mesmerized look on the students’ faces. “I should’ve remembered the fact that eagles don’t nod when children wave at them.”
“You sure made them happy. And hard to concentrate back on the lesson too.”
“Sorry about that. I was… excited to see you teaching. And now I know that was stupid. I could’ve blown everything up and Sirius wouldn’t have been able to get in and-”
“You think I’d have done something?”
“Well, I don’t know. Sirius escaped prison and suddenly I was here… You could’ve thought I was trying to get Harry and reported me. I have always been associated with Sirius since the beginning, you remember. After he escaped, people thought I had something to do with it.”
Remus looked at you, frowning slightly.
“Which is true,” you clarified. “I had something to do with it. Everything to do with it. But people didn’t know that for sure, so it was a little unfair that they were accusing me.”
Remus raised an eyebrow.
“Okay. It wasn’t unfair, given my history of nagging the Ministry about his arrest,” you sighed. “Public protests that costed me jobs, peace, safety and… relationships.”
“I thought you didn’t want to talk about that.”
“I do, Remus. That’s the thing. I do. I’m just… I don’t know.”
You took a deep breath and put the map down on the desk. Maybe it was time to talk about it.
“I don’t know how to feel about this whole thing right now. Like I said, I’m happy I’m here, but… things didn’t turn out exactly how we planned. Peter escaped and Sirius had to run away on a hippogriff so he wouldn’t be kissed. Now we don’t know when we’ll see him again, do we? And I’m happy to see you, I really am, specially because now you know I was telling the truth and everything else was just media bullshit, but that’s… that’s also exactly why I’m still hurting. You didn’t believe me. You chose to walk away and leave me alone on this. I had to fight this fight by myself, because I couldn’t just leave Sirius there and go live my life like you did. I forgive you and I think I understand now, but I’m still fucking hurting.”
After letting all that out, you felt a tiny bit better. Everything was on the table now for him to see, and you didn’t know what to expect, to be honest. Your voice had broken on the last sentence, but you hoped he hadn’t noticed.
Remus blinked a few times and swallowed hard. He looked at you like he was carefully choosing the words he was about to speak.
“That’s… that’s what you think I did? I ‘left Sirius there and went live my life’?”
You didn’t say anything as now you realized that wasn’t fair. You knew very well that life for him was never easy and he couldn’t just ‘go live it’.
“It killed me, Y/N. A part of me died with James, Lily and Peter, another part of me died when I found out it had been Sirius, and another part of me died when you, the only person left, the only one I had, my everything, started going around defending the murderer. This was the scenario I had, you have to remember that. I was already completely alone before even leaving you. Sirius was all you talked about for the next two years. We didn’t have any conversations that weren’t about him or Peter or the Ministry. And I listened to you. Even though your only reasoning for defending Sirius was that ‘he would never do this’, I listened to you. Despite having all the evidences point to him, I listened to you say he was innocent. I thought you were grieving. I thought you were in denial. I thought it would go away after a while, but it didn’t. You were convinced he was innocent. It was killing me, but I didn’t want to lose you. I stayed.”
Remus took a deep breath and only then you realized you had been holding yours.
“But then…” he continued. “But then you started actually going to the Ministry. You demanded to be heard, you made noise, you protested. You caught the media’s attention by doing so, and soon enough all the Daily Prophet talked about was ‘the lunatic in love with the murderer’. They’re really good, the journalists. They did their research and they got to me. That’s when things really started going south. We had eyes on us every day. Our house was being watched. People left notes, threats, nasty things. You were too busy with the Ministry to notice, but I did. I was the one who got the mail and read them all. I was there in the background of your fight for justice. You lost your job, but you said I didn’t have to worry because you were already applying for new ones. You never got a reply. I was supporting us and it was becoming really difficult. People on the street called me enabler, a fool, irresponsible, and worse things. Soon my boss didn’t want me associated with them, so I lost my job too, when it was already so hard for me to get one. In the meanwhile, when we were at home together, you spent all your time doing research on Magical Law Enforcement and such. You were obsessed. We didn’t talk. But when we did, it was about him. It was then that I started to believe what they said. I started to believe you weren’t grieving, you were just in love with him. My insecurities from school came back and I created in my head an image of you two together. And I believed it. That’s when I left.”
Silence.
You didn’t even try to hold back the tears. They were running down your cheeks freely.
Remus had watery eyes, but not a single tear fell down.
“And now I know you were right. I am so, so fucking sorry, Y/N.”
“I am sorry too.”
You broke down. All the emotions you felt the day he left you were back. Every wound was reopened and started to bleed again.
You covered your face in an attempt to muffle your sobs, your whimpers, and just hide from him. You felt vulnerable, exposed, small.
Hesitantly, Remus walked around the desk and stood by your side. He slowly put his hand on your shoulder and whispered:
“It’s over. It’s all over now.”
You shook your head. “It’s not. It’ll never be over. James and Lily will never come back.”
As your crying got more intense, Remus’ grip on your shoulder tightened, until he decided that wasn’t enough and pulled you into a hug. His arms around you felt good, really good. You instantly felt safe, like you hadn’t in a very long time.
“Shh,” he rubbed your back in a soothing motion, a very familiar gesture that took you back in time to when you were just an angsty teenager with an equally angsty boyfriend.
“I missed you, Remus. I missed you so fucking much.”
“Oh, Y/N. I missed you too.”
The two of you stayed like that for a while, until you managed to compose yourself.
“I’m sorry,” you said again.
“There’s nothing you need to apologize for.”
“This was my fault too, Remus. I didn’t take into account the fact that you were grieving too. You had lost your friends too. I neglected you. I got so involved with trying to prove Sirius’ innocence that I left you to mourn alone. Like I said earlier, I think I understand now why you left. This doesn’t make me hurt any less, but I do understand you better. You put up with your grieving girlfriend defending the murderer of your best friends for two years. That was your point of view.”
“But you were right and I should’ve believed you. I should’ve fought with you. It’ll take a while before I can forgive myself for that.”
“Okay,” you let go of him so you could look into his watery eyes. “But I forgive you.”
“You have always been too nice for your own good.”
You chuckled, stepping back and wiping the remaining tears away. “You’re one to talk.”
“Professor Lupin?”
A small voice came from the doorway, after a quick knock on the open door.
Harry.
“I can come back later.”
“No, Harry. It’s okay,” you motioned for him to come in. “I was just leaving, actually.”
“You were?” Remus muttered to you, not loud enough for Harry to hear.
“Yes. You have very important business to take care of and I’ll leave you to it,” you mumbled back with a small smile.
You turned back to Harry and met the eyes of your late best friend. Swallowing hard, you smiled at him as well. “It was so nice meeting you, Harry. I hope I see you again soon.”
“It was nice to get to know you too, Y/N. Thanks for… for telling me about my mum.”
“Anytime,” you walked up to him and slightly ruffled his hair. “Well, I should get going now. See you around, Remus.”
“See you, Y/N.”

Home, Part Four: You Left Me to Bleed
Prinexity
TW: Trauma, cursing, Unsympathetic Janus, Unsympathetic Patton, past abusive relationships, child growing up in a toxic home, manipulation, emotional abuse, physical abuse, a stray cat, playboy, Remus, Trans!Virgil, friend break up, trauma, alludes to dissociation, traumatic experiences.
Jeremy Empire was the school heartbreaker. Fitting, since he had his broken first. He knew that these weren’t the only names he was called. Gay JD, bad boy, fuck boy, and no good peice of shit were a couple of his other favorites. Remy was never in one place, he was in five at once. He caused trouble, but no one could ever declare him guilty. HIs fathers weren’t exactly pleased with what he did, but they did acknowledge that they gave him those traits. Roman gave him the romance, Virgil the emo rebel, his uncle Remus lent the trouble maker, and Emile...oh he gave him pain.
Pain seemed to be a family trait. Everyone in Remy’s family always had some heartbreak, some emotional destruction. Hell, even their cat, Panic!, had something wrong with his life. The cat was a stray until Remy’s dads found and adopted him.
Regardless, none of that mattered. Remy threw on his leather jacket, grabbed a coffee, got on his father’s old motorcycle, and went to school. It was junior year, a year of stress and susceptible emotions. So, the perfect time to find someone new to hit on. Remy went through the ideas as he walked through the halls. Maybe an aggressively straight guy with obvious internalized homophobia? Or the gay nerd that really wants attention? Or the-
Remy’s thoughts were abruptly interrupted when he accidentally slammed into a fellow student.
“Shit,” He cursed. He saw the person’s tawny hair and sweater vest. Clearly a nerd, considering how many books were lying on the ground. Maybe he should help? But by the time Remy came to that conclusion, the books were already in his arms.
“Sorry, I didn’t see you there,” the person mumbled. “I’ll just go.” The person started to walk away but Remy grabbed their sleeve. They sounded familiar. The person stopped. “Could you let go of my sleeve please?” Remy didn’t respond, instead pulling the sleeve slightly, which caused the person to turn around. Remy attempted to make eye contact through sunglasses, but the person dropped their head, avoiding it like a pro. He was impressive. “Please let go of my sleeve.”
“Make eye contact and I let go.” The person shifted the books in their arms and sighed, before lifting up their head. Remy stumbled backward. A sixteen year old Emile looked at him uncomfortably through glasses. He barely changed since they were kids, still with a face that looks like it could smile in moments.  “Emile?” Remy gasped, too shocked to say anything. He hadn’t seen him since sixth grade, he had assumed he transferred schools.
“I’m sorry, do I know you?” Emile asked, dropping his gaze again to avoid eye contact. Remy felt all his emotions rush forward again, just like the day Emile abandoned him. He attempted to keep his cool, but it was so hard when fucking Emile was standing there, acting like they had never been friends. First leaving him alone, and now this. Emile was a son of bitch.
Remy didn’t even realize Emile had shrunk back, holding his books to his chest, until he came close, almost nose to nose with him.
“You should.” Emile flinched, taking a step back.
“I’m really sorry, but I just don’t know who you are,” Emile panicked. At this point people stopped to watch. It was the most interesting they’d see all day. Everyone knew who the two were. Emile would always be there with a smile if you needed help and Remy had broken hearts so many times, he was probably heartless.
“You are a fucking monster.” Emile’s eyes filled with tears that he stubbornly held back in. Those words echoed in his skull.  Remy glared at him.
“I’m sorry,” Emile whispered, quickly running off into the crowd. Remy watched him run off. Then he stormed off into the opposite direction.
For the rest of the day, gossip followed the two around school. Were they scorned lovers? Mortal enemies? Did Remy break his heart? Did Emile break Remy’s? Was there a  dramatic backstory? Did the two meet and one had a concussion and forgot? Was this some alternate universe that they traveled to where only Remy knew he saw Emile? Nobody was too sure. But two things were known. Remy was furious, and Emile was terrified. And that was enough for the rumors to make their way home.
“All I’m saying is, hypothetically, you could murder him.”
“REMUS!”
“Whaaat?” Roman shook his head at his brother, holding Virgil’s hand gently as they sat on the couch.
“I don’t know if you know this Mr. Mad Scientist, but in the real world murder is illegal!”
“Only if you get caught,” Virgil chimed in, petting the cat. Roman looked at him, exasperated.
“It's amazing that I’m the only impulse control in this house.” Remus cackled as Virgil chucked a pillow at Roman’s head. Remy sat silently, not talking about anything that happened today. The adults stopped when Remy remained silent.
“Hey Remy, sweetheart, are you okay? I know that must have been very upsetting,” Virgil said softly. Remy rolled his eyes and huffed.
“Upsetting is one word for ripping out my heart and stopping on its already broken pieces.”
“You sound exactly like your father,” Virgil snorted. Roman smiled, leaning over and kissing the top of Virgil’s head.
“What can I say, I have the better genes.” Virgil leaned on Roman’s shoulder.
“Aren’t you related to that trash rat?”
“Regardless, still better.”
“Alright, stop flirting with you two. Clearly your son is having an emotional crisis. And I’m shit at emotions, so do your thing,” Remus said, gesturing to Remy. Virgil sighed and nodded.
“I know this is rough-”
“You have no idea how ROUGH this is. How could he just forget me like that? We were best friends, and he abandoned me.” Virgil and Roman exchanged a look as Remy fumed. Then Roman sighed, and stepped forward.
“He didn’t abandon you.” Remy looked at him incredulously, standing up.
“Um, I’m pretty sure he did dad!” Roman shook his head.
“He didn’t. At least not on purpose.” Remy fell back into his seat, confused.
“What?”
“Virgil will explain better.” Virgil got up and sat next to his son, one hand on his back soothingly.
“So it looks like I’m going to have  to tell you a long story. It started in college.”
“You’re kidding. Emile abandoning me, starts when you were in college? Bullshit.” Virgil rolled his eyes while Remus and Roman exchanged a look.
“You are very lucky I didn’t start when I was in sophomore year of college. Trust me, this shit goes back a long while.” Remy flopped backward.
“Fiiiine.”
“Good. I wasn’t dating your father at the time, instead I was dating Deceit.”
“Okay, this is not some dudes name is it?” Roman joined in, responding for Virgil.
“No it's not, but it's very difficult for your father to refer to him by his given name.”
“Why?”
“i’m getting to that,” Virgil said, getting irritated. “I will explain everything, just please stop interrupting.” Remy rolled his eyes but nodded. “Now Deceit was not a good person.”
“That's a nice way of saying absolute dickhead,” Remus muttered. Virgil glared at him and he shut up. Remy sat up, a bit more interested.
“Anyway, he wasn’t a good person,”
“Dickhead,” Remus muttered.
“AND his brother was a person named Patton Lugner.”
“How is this important?” Remy asked, becoming bored again, grabbing a cup of coffee and starting to sip out of it.
“COULD YOU ALL JUST LET ME SPEAK?” Everyone immediately shut up. “Thank god. Now, I had been dating Deceit since sophomore year of highschool and we moved to college together. He was the only person I knew, so I was very isolated and alone. I had terrible anxiety at the time and being alone around him made it worse.” Virgil hitched a breath. Roman came over, encouraging him with a gentle arm around his shoulder.
“Deceit could get violent. In fact, he rarely didn’t. On the outside, you wouldn’t have known it. It was so easy to fall into his trap that way. He smoothly talked and lied about everything. He could have said, ‘The sky is green’ and I would have accepted it without question. That was the type of person he was. I had been incredibly nervous so I only saw people with Deceit. Naturally that met the only people I ever saw were people Deceit trusted to not help me. So, I met his brother Patton. I was convinced he didn’t know, so I acted secretive. He did know though. About everything that went on behind the closed doors.” Virgil inhaled and exhaled, trying to calm back down. Roman soothed him, and he began to speak again.
“Then I met your uncle Remus. He was best friends with Deceit.” Remy spit out his coffee.
“WHAT?!”
“Hey, I didn’t know he was a complete dolphin’s asshole at the time,” Remus shrugged. Remy gaped at his uncle. This was quite the story to be hearing and it had barely started.
“We didn’t talk much, he was quite loud and out there, and frankly I was terrified. But one night I ran out of the dorm, absolutely terrified and in pain. And your uncle Remus was there. I was hidden by the dark and my hoodie, so he didn’t know it was me, but he was kind and asked why I was here. I said I had been hurt badly,” Virgil unintentionally flinched at the memory, trying to get back on track. “He asked who did. And I said it was my boyfriend. He wanted to get me help immediately, because despite his off the wall attitude, your uncle was a good person.”
“Why thank you Virgey.” Virgil rolled his eyes.
“I said no, because I was so scared what would happen if he found out. But he tried to encourage me to leave, even if he couldn’t help. I didn’t listen at first, but the words sunk into my brain and stayed there. He succeeded in planting the doubt in my head. And one night, when I had finally had enough, I broke up with Deceit and immediately ran out the door, not listening to what he wanted to say or do next. Next thing I knew I was in the center of the grounds running as fast as I could away. And then I bumped right into your father.”
“This is like a cheesy rom-com,” Remy muttered, before Roman, not Virgil shot him a dirty look.
“Anyway, I ran into your father. And I didn’t really know what I was doing at the time, but I begged for him to let me be in his dorm. I said I was running from someone who was trying to hurt me. Your father was always a big softie and let me come in. Turns out he was sharing a room with your uncle Remus. He was surprised to see me because,” Remus joined in.
“Aren’t you J’s roommate?”
“I panicked immediately, but your father helped me through my attack and I calmed down. I didn’t tell them why I was scared, just that I switched rooms because Janus had a partner who was there all the time and it freaked me out. They let me stay, and eventually, I met their friend. His name was Logan Berry, and he was a very smart law student. As it happened he was friends with Deceit. Or not friends as much as acquaintances. He was, however, close friends with Patton, Deciet’s twin brother. So naturally, the twins hung out with us. I hadn’t told anyone about Deceit, but I quickly figured out from side glances and careful looks, Patton knew. And he didn’t care.”
“Should these names feel familiar? Because they are to me, but I can’t place them,” Remy asked. Virgil nodded.
“Oh they should. Patton scared the crap out of me, but he was Logan’s friend and by extension mine, so I tried to get rid of the underlying fear. And I just tried to pretend Deceit wasn’t there.  At some point your father and I started dating. He knew I had serious issues from something, but he didn’t know what. Eventually he discovered it was Deceit and I swore him to secrecy, albeit reluctantly. Then, Remus came in. He was crying. Actually crying so we knew something had happened. Remus, want to take this bit?”
“Yup! So, Logan dropped me as a friend. I didn’t know why, but it was very painful. At first I wanted to cry, and then I wanted to rip out his internal organs. But your dad was suspicious of what happened, especially after Logan started to date Patton. He went to talk to Logan, only for Logan to dismiss it and leave. Your dad got home, and then vowed to confront Patton about this.” Virgil sighed.
“So, after class, I went to go find Patton when I was stopped by Deceit. He threatened me with exposing what happened to me to everyone if I did anything. And while I had more confidence, I didn’t have enough to say ‘Fuck you, I’ll do this anyway.’ So I listened and went back, my suspicions confirmed when Logan walked back to class with foundation on his face. I’ve put on enough makeup in my lifetime, whether it was for me or to hide a bruise, so I could immediately tell what happened. I wanted to do something and tell someone what happened. But I knew no one would believe me and everyone would just end up hurt.” Remy looked confused.
“Why wouldn’t someone believe you pops? Surely people take this seriously.”
“I wish that was the case. But I was a scrawny twenty year old trans man, who hadn’t even fully transitioned yet. They don’t take this seriously when someone with confidence says stuff, how the hell could I even think of it. Regardless, things got better for me and unfortunately worse for Logan. I didn’t see him in class a week later. When I tried to call him, my number was blocked. And then he got married Patton, becoming Logan Hart.” Remy’s jaw dropped.
“WHAT THE HELL? ARE YOU SAYING WHAT I THINK YOU’RE SAYING?” Roman and Remus couldn’t help but laugh at Remy’s reaction. Virgil smiled.
“Wait until I finish and you’ll really be shocked. Obviously, me and your dad got married and had you after we finished college. We lost contact with Logan, for obvious reasons. We knew he was married to Patton, but that was about it. Once you turned four we sent you to a preschool. You know the one fifteen minutes away? Then your father ran late to pick you up one day and that’s when we get to you. Patton was your teacher and your father vaguely recognized him. Your father suddenly saw Logan and everything clicked. You were playing with Emile, so you didn’t realize. Naturally, your dad told me what happened and I was tempted then and there to hunt down Patton Hart.”
“But,” Roman interrupted, taking the conversation, “I didn’t let him do that. Instead we bided our time. We didn’t want to ruin your and Emile’s friendship. You were both so happy. But everything went wrong on your first playdate at a house. It was ours and you had a good time. Everything seemed fine. Me and your father remained civil with Patton. Maybe this would work out. And then you asked-”
“What loud noises start at night?” Remy whispered, pulling up the distant memory in horror. Virgil nodded as Roman continued.
“And Patton immediately shut the door in our faces, bringing Emile in with him. You didn’t understand and were led back to the car. We don’t know what happened next in their home, but you can bet it was nothing good. I strongly suspect Patton might have manipulated or scared Emile into ignoring you.”
“And,” Virgil added, “Emile likely associates you with a traumatic memory and his brain blocks you out to stay safe.” Remy stared in horror at his fathers, who stared at him solemnly.
“Holy shit.”

REMUS LUPIN is TWENTY-TWO YEARS OLD and a CRIME SCENE PHOTOGRAPHER in THE DEPARTMENT OF MAGICAL LAW ENFORCEMENT at THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC.  He looks remarkably like JOE KEERY and considers himself aligned with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. He is currently OPEN.
→ OVERVIEW:
tw: bodily harm
The kindest of his friends with a gentle warmth in his heart, Remus Lupin is a difficult friend to make though he is a firm one. Raised in the Welsh city of Cardiff, Remus can’t remember much of his life before the pivotal moment which changed it forever. The only son of insurance officer HOPE HOWELL and senior advisor on magical creatures for The Ministry of Magic LYALL LUPIN, Remus’ earlier days were described by his parents as simple but loving. When he was first born his father mostly cared for him, allowing Hope to return to work a few days a week which became somewhat impossible during Remus’ later years until he attended Hogwarts. Lyall hadn’t yet taken his job at The Ministry, instead spending his time writing and researching for his latest book he had been writing during Hope’s pregnancy. Though Remus can’t remember most of it his younger years consisted of sitting with his father each day listening to the adventures of Lyall Lupin. Favourite tales included how he rescued his mother from a Boggart to his brief move into the Cardiff countryside to study troublesome Poltergeists. Lyall Lupin was afraid of nothing and it was a value he tried to instill in his son from an early age.
As a young boy Remus was happy and curious, eager to learn about the world around him and did not frighten easily, though when your bedtime stories were about ghosts, vampires and werewolves there was little left to be frightened of.  His brief time at Primary School had also been a happy one, allowing his father to accept the senior advisor position in The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures to help the magical world with his knowledge. Remus didn’t miss being at home when he was at school. Popular amongst the other students due to his kindness and compassion he arrived home each day hand in hand with his mother with a new story or a friend in tow to gossip with over the kitchen table. Then Remus stopped coming to school. School like many things in his life became impossible, all due to the events of one night and one man. With members of the magical community and Muggle communities going missing Lyall was involved in the trial of a man who would become an infamous name in the wizarding world. FENRIR GREYBACK was a werewolf in disguise on trial for the murder of two Muggle children and had told the questioning committee he was a Muggle tramp which all but Lyall had fallen for.
Recognising the characteristic signs of lycanthropy in Greyback's appearance and behaviour, Lyall voiced his concerns recommending that Greyback be detained until the next full moon, which was only twenty-four hours away. Lyall was instead ridiculed, causing him to lose his temper and was consequently expelled from the room while Fenrir was released, escaping onto the streets of London and hatching a plan to further ridicule the wizard who had offended both him and his kind with his comments. Shortly before Remus's fifth birthday, Fenrir followed Lyall home to his little house in Cardiff and climbed inside Remus’ bedroom window. Claws extended and teath beard he swiped at Remus, as he screamed in pain. Lyall reached Remus in time, repelling Fenrir with a powerful curse but the damage had already been done. Remus was infected. Every full moon thereafter Remus would transform into a werewolf, afraid for the lives of those around him and scared of the animal inside him that clawed its way out of him. His parents tried everything to find a cure for their son both magical and Muggle but could find nothing to help him. Concerned his condition would prevent Remus from attending Hogwarts his parents made arrangements to homeschool Remus but were stopped in their tracks the night before Remus’ eleventh birthday.
Entering their home despite Lyall’s charms, PROFESSOR ALBUS DUMBLEDORE convinced Remus’ parents to allow him to accept his position at Hogwarts since he had already seen to it that the boy would have a safe, secure location to spend his monthly transformations. Moving to Hogwarts was a liberating experience for Remus. With a place to transform each month that didn’t result in him and his family moving every cycle he relaxed more into himself though he knew he could never fully let his guard down. He started by making friends with LILY EVANS, a gentle character and fellow Gryffindor who noticed how often he kept to himself. Lily was Remus’ first real friend and was grateful of her kindness. She never asked questions, only smiled and squeezed his hand at times she thought he needed it, which was more than she knew. The questions mostly came from the boys who lived in his dorm. JAMES POTTER was a loud and transparent boy Remus couldn’t have imagined being friends with until he was already in the throws of their friendship. James had taken a shine to him at first to get him away from Lily which Remus had noted though he said nothing till a number of years later. James’ best friends and his fellow roommates SIRIUS BLACK and PETER PETTIGREW, easily accepted him after James had given Remus his seal of approval and welcomed him with open arms into their little club of misfits.
To the untrained eye, Remus didn’t belong with the three boys. He was much quieter, less trouble. But if souls were indeed made it was clear Remus, James, Sirius and Peter’s were made the same. They brought out a more mischievous side to him Remus had allowed to wither away long ago and although PROFESSOR MINERVA MCGONAGALL scolded him for his role in the occasional prank he still would enjoy the role he played. Despite his kinship with the boys, Remus still attempted to keep them at arm’s length, though a clever ploy by Sirius would not allow that to go on past their second year. Under the watchful eye of Professor Dumbledore, Remus would transform and roam The Dark Forest, before resting for a number of days in The Shrieking Shack and finally returning to classes. He would make up stories for his absence, but Sirius and Peter soon grew suspicious and followed him out one evening. Confirming their earlier suspicions they waited patiently for Remus to return before confronting him with their brilliant plan. Remus was shocked they hadn’t been disgusted by him, finding that with them finally fully by his side he enjoyed Hogwarts much more than he did his time at home. He graduated a prefect, narrowly missing out on Head Boy thanks to James and with close friendships he knew he would keep for the rest of his life as he headed into the world.
Not wanting to burden the lives of his parents, Remus moved to Farringdon and settled into an apartment with his three best friends. He had a good support network around him, even from those who didn’t know about his condition. Remus had always thought to himself that if he was capable of loving someone he would have loved DORCAS MEADOWES. They enjoyed the company of one another in its purest form and that was simply enough. Given his status as a werewolf, Remus was refused a number of jobs before being accepted as a crime scene photographer in The Department of Magical Law Enforcement, working under FRANK LONGBOTTOM, due to a few kind words from Dorcas. The job was a gruesome one with people turning up each day murdered in one way or another. Remus and Frank were recently assigned a string of potential werewolf attacks they believed linked back to Fenrir Greyback. With the help of medical expert KEIRA GREY and Remus, Frank hopes to catch Fenrir and make him pay for his crimes though the pair have much more on their hands than simply Fenrir at present. Both members of Dumbeldore’s Order of The Phoenix, Remus spends a great deal of his free time training with Frank and helping The Order. Remus is dedicated and loyal enough to the cause to put in the extra hours and isn’t afraid to use the help of a few unconventional people to dig deeper into cases, even if he has to hide it from his friends.

July 5th, 1981.
It was quiet, this wasn’t how she had pictured her daughter’s first birthday would be.
When she was younger, her parents would always throw the biggest parties, that stopped once she went to Hogwarts, but they would always send howlers singing ‘Happy Birthday’ and she would always die of embarrassment. Now she would give anything to receive one again.
‘This is not about me’, she quickly corrects. ‘Today all that matters is that we’re together.
Emily was nervous though, James and Lily were supposed to remain hidden but they had found a way to convince Dumbledore to help them get to Matt and Em’s house so they could celebrate both, Mel and Harry’s first birthday together.
Harry’s birthday was actually way after Mel’s, but is not like they could really be moving places all the time, not when they knew there was so much at stake.
So there she was, nervously waiting for Lily and James to arrive with their son, Matthew and Sirius escorting the family to give extra security.
“Em, if you keep messing with Mel’s ribbon she’ll bite your hand,” Remus warned her calmly. “They’ll be here soon, don’t worry.”
“I don’t worry about them being late,” She said, putting her daughter back in the playpen. “I worry about… you know, the journey.”
“They’ll be fine,” Remus shook his head. “Didn’t Matthew just got promoted to Head Auror?”
“Yes, and if you ask me that’s the biggest nonsense I’ve heard.”
“Is it?” The man raised a brow. “Thought you’d be happy.”
“I am,” Emily brushed it off, “you know this didn’t make Matt happier, every day he talks about murders, accidents… Now I understand why my mother hated so much when my dad would talk about that in front of me.”
“Listen,” Remus stood up and put a hand on her shoulder to stop her rambling. “There’s someone at the back door…”
Emily ran to the kitchen then, she walked in the exact moment James and Lily were taking off the cloak, little Harry clinging to her Mother’s neck.
“Where’s Matt?” Emily asked a bit too frantically.
James let out a short, sarcastic laugh.
“We’re happy to see you too, Mily.”
“Don’t be mean, you’d be asking the same thing if it were me the one who left hours ago to pick up some friends,” Lily scolded him, then she turned back to Emily. “He’s with Sirius making sure no one followed us, they’ll be here in a moment.”
“Okay,” Emily nodded, though she still looked nervous.
“Hey!” Remus walked in, he was holding Mel and the little girl was playing quietly with the hem of his sweater. “Thought you might want to say hello to the birthday girl…”
“Hey there, little Em!” James was the first to stir into action, he quickly made his way over to the baby and stole her from Remus grip. “Blimey, I saw you last week, but I could swear you weren’t this big!”
“She looks so much like you, Em”, Lily smiled, walking over to her husband and holding Harry a bit more closer to his father so the babies could see each other.
“Only on the outside,” Emily shook her head, “She’s all her father, that one. Trust me, she’s so quiet I barely register when she’s around.”
“Give her time, once she learns how to speak you’ll have her giving out orders like the bossy girl she’s destined to be, just like her mother–  aren’t you, love?” James smirked, tickling the girl’s belly.
The little girl laughed, Harry’s attention was inmediately drawn to the sound and he reached out to touch the girl’s face. Lily pulled him back with a laugh.
“Easy there! We don’t want you fighting like last time”
“Fighting?” Emily asked, her attention abruptly leaving the window and turning to face the young couple. “Matthew never mentioned they fought”.
“Well, that’s cause it’s a baby fight, they don’t count,” James explained.
“Are you talking about the time you and Sirius got mad for a day because you stole his chocolate frog?” Matthew walked in, followed by Sirius. “Cause that sure was childish.”
“Newsflash, asshole. We were children,” Sirius hit the back of his head.
Matthew walked straight to the faucet to wash his hands, but just as he was about to start, Emily let out a loud, exasperated breath.
“Matt!” Emily rushed over to her husband and gave him a firm kiss on the cheek, she cupped his face with both hands and examined him carefully, causing him to laugh.
“I left for just an hour love, I’m all right…”
“She knows that, she’s just checking if you finally got some brains inside that huge head of yours,” James teased.
Matthew threw him the cloth he was using to dry his hands and James yelled.
“Hey! I’m holding your daughter!”
“Not anymore!” Sirius quickly took the baby in his arms and started to twirl around the way he knew would make her laugh non-stop. “How’s our little Em doing, huh?”
“She has a name, you know?” Emily said, crossing her arms.
“Right, a name that’s derived from a nickname Matthew gave you in school,” James shrugged. “So it’s the same.”
“Enough, give me my child, Sirius,” Emily huffed.
“No!” Sirius held onto the baby tighter. “This is the first time I see her in weeks, give me a moment.”
“Who knew Sirius would turn out to be such a fan?” Lily laughed. “Never thought I’d see you grow attached to a baby until Mel and Harry were born.”
“Not me, that’s certain,” Sirius raised a brow, his eyes softening at the way Mel would giggle.
“Shall we start the party, then?” Remus asked. “I’m starving.”
“Unexpected,” James snorted.
“Shut up, Prongs.”
Most of the group moved to the living room, Emily stopped James and Lily at the doorframe.
“Sorry for not saying hi,” Emily sighed heavily, “It’s just… waiting has never been my favorite hobby.”
“Tell me about it,” James said, she knew he hated having to stay at home instead of fighting along his friends, but his family came first and Harry was in danger, Emily was feeling exactly like him, having to stay so she could take care of Mel while Matthew was out…
Emily hugged both of them quickly before guiding them to the living room.
Tumblr media
“Okay, but which one do you think will be the real trouble maker?” Sirius asked to the group.
He was sitting on the floor right next to Harry and Mel, who were playing loudly, unaware of what the adults were saying.
“Oh, Harry for sure,” Emily said, at the same time Lily replied ‘Mel, certainly.’
“What?” They asked at the same time.
“What makes you think my daughter is the right choice?”
“What makes you think my son is?”
“Oh, are you about to fight? Should I take the kids upstairs?”
“Shut up, Sirius!”
“I think you’re both wrong,” James replied. “You think that with a mother like Lily and a father like Matt our children have any chance to misbehave?”
“Oh, you think that with a mother like Emily and a father like you they won’t be tempted to go behind our backs?” Matthew raised a brow. “That’s bollocks.”
“You know, as long as they don’t set their rooms on fire or something, I think we’ll manage,” Lily said with a shrugged.
“What if they start dating?” Sirius asked excitedly.
“I mean, eventually they will–”
“Hold on, who said anything about dating?” Matthew perked up. “My daughter has no reason to be thinking about dates until she’s nineteen, eighteen at best.”
“Shut up, Ruddy, you asked me on a date when we were fifteen.”
“Yeah, and how did that turn out, huh?” Matthew asked pointedly.
“Dunno, with you marrying the girl of your dreams?” Emily teased him.
Matthew’s cheek reddened, a knowing smile on his face.
“Yeah… but that’s not the point! You’re cool with letting some boy take advantage of Mel?”
“Not if we raise her right, no boy will have a chance.” Emily smirked.
“What if it’s Harry?”
“What?”
“What if Harry’s the one who asks Mel on a date?” Remus asked.
A heavy silence fell onto the group, everyone looking at Remus as if he’d said something crazy.
“Oh c’mon,” The young man rolled his eyes. “Don’t tell me this is the first time you think about the possibility?”
“You know what?” James said from his seat. “That’s not such a dreadfull idea, is it?”
“What?” Matthew’s head turned so fast Emily thought he’d hurt himself.
“Think about it, Ruddy!” James laughed openly. “Are you saying my boy’s not good enough for your baby?”
Matthew opened his mouth and closed it again, he looked at Emily looking for support.
“That’s an lovely idea, actually,” Emily grinned. “We know Harry’s parents already, so that’s one thing we don’t have to worry about!”
“No, that’s exactly the thing that we should worry about,” Matthew raised a brow.
“I could say the same,” Lily said, shaking her head in disbelief. “I still remember that time Emily put blue dye on my juice just because I called her lazy.”
“That doesn’t mean Mel would be the same!” Matthew defended.
“Thanks for that, love,” Emily scoffed.
“What about James?” Sirius offered. “He’ll tell Harry all about our outings and Harry’ll get ideas.”
“Padfoot!”
“Guys, guys,” Remus stopped them, regretting being the one who had caused the argument. “Calm down, this is all just in our heads, there’s no way Mel and Harry will end up together– Merlin, I mean, they’ll grow up like brother and sister!”
“We can take care of that,” James suggested. “You know, just don’t let them get too comfy around each other…”
“If you want them to date shouldn’t it be the other way around?”
“Listen Prongs, no offense but I’m with Remus here, there’s no way my kid will end up falling for your Harry, she’s too smart.”
“She’s a one-year old baby that can’t eat on her own, what are you talking about?” James argued.
“I bet ten galleons Mel and Harry end up together,” Sirius interrupted.
The group fell silent one more time.
“Ten that they won’t,” Lily said suddenly.
“Evans!” James exclaimed in outrage.
“I’m in!” Emily said. “I’m with Sirius on this one.”
“I’m with Lily,” Matthew replied, giving his wife a look she knew was meant to be challenging.
“Okay then, I’m with Mily and Padfoot,” James huffed. “And you two are nasty traitors, can’t believe you don’t want us to be one big family.”
“We already are, Prongs,” Remus smirked. “Look at these lovely little siblings,” He pointed to the babies.
“So you’re with Lily, are you?”
“Obviously,” Remus snorted.
“Can’t believe you’re Mel’s Godfather,” Emily said dramatically. “You clearly don’t want what’s best for her.”
“Awwe, thanks, Mily.”
“No problem, James.”
“You two are unbelievable,” Lily rolled her eyes, standing up.
“Where are you going and can I go with you?” Matthew asked, giving his wife a playful, angry look.
“To get a drink, if I have to spend a whole afternoon with Sirius, James and Emily planning my son’s wedding, I won’t do it sobber.”
“Well, Happy Birthday Mel, I guess I just got you a husband!” Sirius chortled.
“Wait for me!” Remus said, quickly following Lily and Matthew to the kitchen.
Tumblr media
“We had a great time, really,” James said, holding a sleeping Harry in his arms.
“Even if your wife revealed she doesn’t want us to be part of the same family?” Emily teased.
“Oh, she’ll end up loving the idea, trust me,” Jame said with a smile, “just wait for them to start school, she’ll be begging us to set them up.”
Emily laughed.
“I’m just teasing, but I mean it though, I know your Harry will be a great boy.”
“I know, and Lily thinks your daughter will grow up to be amazing, you and Matthew are great. And you know Harry adores Mely, Lily sees that.”
“Yeah, well… she’s the only other baby he knows.”
“Not for long though,” James sighed, staring down at his son, a worried, yet hopeful look on his face. “Soon all of this will be over, won’t it, little guy?”
“Let’s go James!” Lily called from the door. “Harry needs to sleep!”
“Coming!”
When Emily and him arrived, Sirius waited until Lily and Emily said their goodbyes and then covered the Potters with James’ cloak.
“I’ll go with Sirius, you can stay,” Remus assured Matthew, when the man started to argue back, their friend shook his head. “Stay. Emily needs you, Sirius and I will make sure James and Lily get home safe, right Paddie?”
“Sure thing,” Sirius winked. “See you next Sunday!”
“Thank you,” Emily held onto her husband’s hand, squeezing lightly. “Thank you for everything.”
“It’s nothing,” Remus brushed it off. “Next year, Mily. You’ll see…”
Next year. It felt so far away, so fragile to be an actual promise. Next year everything could be different, yes. That didn’t mean it’d be better, but it didn’t mean it’d be worse either.
Once they were alone, Matthew and Emily sat on their bed, a sleeping girl between them. Mel hadn’t been sleeping in her own room since Matthew started to watch over the Potters’ house. It gave Emily something to hold onto, Mel was her hope of a brighter future.
“You’re so good to Mel,” Matthew said suddenly, bringing her back from her swirling thoughts. “She… I know it’s hard, I don’t like being away most of the day, but you know… they’re my family too.”
“I know,” Emily smiled, reaching out to hold his hand. “That’s why I don’t ask you to stay, so you don’t have to choose.”
Matt stared for a long time at their sleeping baby before quietly replying.
“I would choose you in a heartbeat,” He swallowed the lump on his throat, feeling terrible for admiting that out loud. “You know I would.”
Emily sighed.
“Of course I do,” She replied quietly. “But then you’d never forgive yourself if something were to happen them. I’ll never force you to pick a side, Matt. We’re all fighting in our own ways, as hard as we can. We’re all doing our best.”
“Next year this will all be over,” Matthew put an arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer, careful so Mel wasn’t uncomfortable between their bodies. “This will all be a bad dream.”
“Please,” Emily blinked back the tears, “don’t give me hopes, Matt… I know you want it to be true, but please…”
“She’ll be safe,” He cleared his throat. “Mel will live through this, and she’ll grow. I promise you that.”
“What about you?”
“Me…” She couldn’t see his face, but she was almost certain Matt was crying. “Well, if I don’t make it, tell Harry he’s got my blessing to woo Mel all he wants.”
Emily laughed, it came out a bit drowned, but it still sounded like a happy one.
“I thought you didn’t want that for our girl?”
“It doesn’t matter what we think though, does it?” Matthew sigh. “They’ll grow up and eventually they’ll fall in love– whether if they fall for each other or a total stranger, that’s out of our control. Whatever happens, I hope she finds someone who will love her the way I love you.”
“I that case, I pitty the kid that will have to endure that job,” Emily raised a brow, “they’ll have to chase her around for six years and then wait that one day, maybe, she’ll agree to date them.”
“Any Sultens girl is worth the wait,” Matthew squeezed her shoulder lightly, a loving gaze adorning his features.
“And any Dumbledore is worth the trouble,” Emily teased, then looked down at her daughter, who was peacefully sleeping beside her. “Happy Birthday, little one.”
Matthew brushed a lose strand of hair away from his daughter’s face and beamed at how tiny her hand look above his.
“Happy birthday, love.”

Okay Sanders Sides Tangled Au
Fair warning we will be remixing the story a bit and there is gonna be some trans kiddos because I said so
Now our cast:
Roman as Rapunzel
Deceit as Eugene
Dragon Witch as Gothel
Virgil as Maximus (but human)
Patton as Pascal (but not a lizard)
Remus as Rapunzel's sibling (who has been made up for the purpose of this au)
Logan as the king
Remy as the Queen
Okay so King Logan fell in love with Remy (who is nonbinary) and they got married and soon Remy is pregnant with twins but then
Dun dun dun! They fall ill!
So blah blah blah magic flower blah blah saves Remy. And soon the twins are coming but the dragon witch is pissed cuz hey I kinda needed that flower
She sneaks in and steals Roman (who is gender fluid so sometimes he/him sometimes she/her) and leaves Remus because she only needs one ya know?
But Logan and Remy never fully get over losing Roman, Remus has to fight to get their attention and eventually settles on being a trouble maker to get the attention he so desperately craves
In the meantime Roman is growing up with only the dragon witch and Patton (they/them) for company Patton is a shapeshifter and tends to either be in a human shape or chameleon shape but they're Roman's only friend
Most of the Twins birthdays are treated as a memorial for roman and Remus gets little celebration except for from his friend *cough* crush *cough cough*, the palace guard, Virgil
Virgil is very dedicated to his job and seems to be one of the only ones who sees remus as his own person rather than half of a set
Sweet 16 rolls around and Deceit (who's real name is Ethan Fitzherbert) steals the lost prince's crown runs away and happens across a tower
Virgil tries to go after him but Remus insists on tagging along
In the mean time Roman is trying to convince the dragon witch to let her go see the lights, ends up trapping Deceit in her cabinet
As she, patton, and Deceit leave the tower they run into Virgil and Remus there's a whole thing of "wow you two look really similar" and remus cracks a joke like "are you my long lost sibling?" And everybody laughs at how silly that is
The plot continues as such except while deceit and Roman are doing "At Last I See the Light" patton Virgil and Remus are falling in love
Virgil still loves apples
Roman with short brown hair and he's weeping over Ethan's dead body and the tears bring him back to life
Remus had sun hair powers too but no one notices and thus they were quite surprised when the princes hair turned brown after his first haircut so he never got to use them. Until he grows a mustache (which roman had shaved off) and roman is like singing the song to heal Deceit's hand and his mustache starts glowing and everyone is very confused
Idk this just seemed real cute but I don't have time to write a proper fic

Tag List: @princemesscharming @datfearlessfangirl @cas-is-a-hunter (i haven’t tagged you in the last few but you did ask to be tagged in the original. Let me know if you want to stay on the tag list, I don’t mind either way.) @illogicalthinking  Let me know if you want tagged!
The Series on Ao3  | Last Words Pt. 1 & Pt. 2  |  Run From What’s Comfortable  | The Kids Will be Alright, Eventually.
Okay here’s the Fic.
Logan was 14 when Roman and Remus Sanders appeared in his life. He was a freshman in high school, unnaturally tall and trying his best to be intimidating in his brother’s hand-me-down leather jacket and worn-out boots.
“This is ridiculous, Larry.” Logan was pouting a bit, trying to keep his hair from his face. It hadn’t been cut since the middle of the last school year and was hanging messily around his chin. His brother laughed at him, tossing an arm across his brother’s shoulders.
“First of all, You can call me L, Lo. Literally the only ones who actually call me Larry are Mom and Dad. And Dot, but she’s cute, so it’s okay.” L winked at Logan, shoving the younger teenager a bit towards the freshman hallway. “You’re going to be fine, kid. You know where your homeroom is?” Logan nodded. “Perfect! I’ll see you at lunch, okay?” Logan didn’t get a chance to agree before his brother disappeared into the crowd, lifting up who Logan assumed was Dot. He sighed and turned into the hallway, trying to find his locker. He was sure it was supposed to be here, he had found it during orientation, but there was a small crowd of sophomores laughing and pushing each other in front of where he thought it was. He steeled his nerves and cleared his throat.
“Excuse me, I believe you’re blocking my locker.” The crowd, who Logan realized consisted of not only sophomores but juniors and seniors too based on the letterman jackets they were wearing, looked at him, all of them with a bit of amusement in their eyes. Now that they had turned, Logan could see his locker, directly behind two of them who were either twins or brothers who looked incredibly similar. Logan pointed at them. “You two, the locker behind you is mine. I need into it.”
“Is that so?” The one with the green t-shirt on asked with a smirk. “Ro, I think we’re blocking tall, dark, and angry’s locker!” The one in red, Ro, pretended to look surprised.
“Oh, my goodness, Re! We wouldn’t want to block Specs here from dropping off his trapper keeper!” Ro put a hand to his chest dramatically. “How would he ever survive!” Re laughed a little. Logan rolled his eyes and took a step into the crowd. These were obviously a combination of Jocks and theater kids, some with both patches on their jackets. Logan figured it was probably a dumb idea to piss them off this early into the school year, but he really couldn’t care less about it. He came into the school with a reputation as a trouble maker from middle school, and had been warned by the disciplinary officer that his attitude would not be tolerated here. With his shaggy hair and new growth spurt putting him at just over six feet tall, he didn’t expect this year to go much better. He was strong, actively working out four days a week with his brother, but his growth spurt left him looking lanky and thin. He placed one hand on each of the brother’s shoulders, easily pushing them away from his locker. They looked surprised. “Damn, pocket protector. You’re stronger than you look.” Ro said, sounding slightly impressed. Logan ignored them, opening the locker and tossing his notebooks and folders into the top shelf, hanging his jacket up on the hook, leaving him in just his Eddie & The Hotrods hoodie and plain white t-shirt. He slammed the door and stepped through the crowd that was staring at him with identical looks of confusion. He stomped past them and into his homeroom without giving them another thought.
That was, until fifth period, where Re and Ro were sitting in two desks at the front of the room, loudly arguing about something that Logan didn’t care enough to listen to. He sat down in one of the two remaining chairs in the front row, right next to the far wall. He pulled out a notebook and tapped his pen against the desk, waiting for the teacher to come in. The two jocks didn’t seem to notice him, engrossed in their argument. When the teacher came in she glanced at the class and hummed.
“Remus? Would you mind moving to the other side of your brother? I assured Simon they could have the seat closest to the door.” She asked, smiling at the green twin who nodded and stood up, turning towards the other open seat. The seat just next to Logan.
“Oh! Specs! Aren’t you a freshman? Why are you in this class?” Remus sat down, his grin almost unsettlingly wide.
“Oh, I uh-” The teacher answered for him.
“Logan is one of the six freshmen who started taking high school classes in their last year of middle school. Part of the Highest Honors Diploma Program.” Logan nodded in agreement, glad to not have to talk more than absolutely necessary.
“Nice! Maybe you’ll be able to help me figure out what the hell anything in this class means then.” The teacher raised her eyebrows at that.
“First of all, watch your language. Second of all, you passed last year’s class with no problems, why would you expect this class to be a problem?”
“I stole a copy of the syllabus,” Remus admitted. “I hate Shakespeare, and we have almost an entire semester about the old nutcase.” Ro squawked indignantly at that.
“Shakespeare was a genius! You’re literally an ACTOR, how can you not like him?”
“Wait, how did you get a copy of the syllabus I JUST printed them-”
“Sorry, bro, Shakespeare is an overrated plagiarist who was too lazy to learn real words so he made a bunch up to make himself sound cooler.” Remus shrugged. “Anyway, Logan, was it? You look like you’re a competent tutor, so what do you say? Will you teach me about the King of the Shadows?” Logan glanced over at the teacher, who still looked completely flabbergasted.
“I… suppose so, if it becomes necessary, yes.” Logan agreed, albeit hesitantly. “It does seem that your.. brother is quite knowledgeable in the subject, however. Would you not prefer to have him help you?” Roman nodded earnestly.
“I am very knowledgeable!” Remus snorted.
“Roman gets distracted by passing dust motes. He would make a horrendous teacher.” Roman made a vague noise of offense but did not argue with his brother’s statement.
“Speaking of teachers,” The English teacher said with fond exasperation, “Can this one actually start the class, or are we all going to have to listen to you three for the rest of the hour?” All three of them blushed and turned to the front of the classroom. The teacher, who’s name was apparently Mrs. White, began explaining the syllabus to them.
