 ꧁JUNGWON꧂
you and jungwon were hanging out at your house on your bed. he was laying his head on your chest looking through his phone while you are reading a book. he kept looking up at you to see what you were doing, but you seemed very interested in your book from his view.
he kept staring at your pretty face, when you suddenly looked down at him making eye contact with him. you both blushed and looked away. “s-sorry” he said “i-it’s ok won”. he looked back at you and tapped you shoulder to get your attention. you looked at him confused when he leaned up and closed the distance between you. as you both pulled away, you kept eye contact. you watched as the blush pink danced across his cheeks. you wondered how red you were if he was almost red as a tomato. “y-y/n” he said “jungwon” you just looked at each other.
“jungwon…” you asked still staring at him, “hmm?”. “i love you.” you watched as his eyes widened and his ears got red-er. “y-you what?” you looked away surprised at your confession. he turned your head back from your chin. “i love you too”. he smiled and pecked you lips sweetly.
✿ HEESEUNG ✿
when you woke up with your beautiful boyfriend, heeseung, laying next to you. you stated in awe as he peacefully slept. you could hear him quietly snoring in his sleep. you giggled as quiet as you could without moving. you wrapped your arm around his waist in order to try and go back to sleep with him. he groaned a bit as you scootched closer to him, not feeling close enough already.
you finally got comfortable in your position, his arm around you upper body and yours around his waist. you felt something tighten around your waist, that thing being heeseung’s arm. you look up to see your sweet boyfriends kind doe eyes, in crescents as he smiled softly at you. “hi baby”. he says with a raspy voice. “hi seungie”. you say with a bright smile.
you lay together for a few more minutes, not wanting to get out of bed and face the day. “hey, love?” he askes, “yea?” “can we just stay in bed today?” he askes sweetly already knowing the answer, but asking anyway “i wish. i just want to stay in bed with you.” you say, while curling into his chest. you continue “all i want to do is stay in bed with the love of my life.” you felt his heart start beating faster. “w-what did you say?” you realized what you said and looked up to him. “love you too”. he says with the same sweet smile you hope to wake up to every morning for the rest of your life. you kept eye contact as he climbed on top of you, his arms on each side of your head. “can i show you how much i’m in love with you?”. the rest is history.
◒ JAY ◓
you were getting worried as you waited for your boyfriend. you looked at your phone ‘10:47’. you groaned as you waited for him to come through the door. waiting on the couch, you tried calling him again. immediately went to voice male. “jay where are you? i’m worried. please come home”. you waited for another 30 minutes before you heard the doorknob wiggle. you ran to the door but before you got there jay came in. “where were you?!” you yelled annoyed that he was home so late.
“get off my back. i was just hanging out with friends”. he said sounding just as annoyed as you were. “jay, i was worried about you! why didn’t you call be back?!” “because! you’re being clingy! and it’s annoying as fuck!” he yelled back, making you step back a bit not expecting that as his answer. you gave him a glare, walked to you room, and shut the door behind you.
you felt pricking at the back of your eyes. you were left alone with silence for a good 10 minutes before you heard a knock on the door. “baby. can i open the door? please?” you didn’t answer. “i’m coming in.” he walked in to see you laying on the bed. “babe.” he said, disappointed in himself for making you feel this way. “babe please look at me. i’m sorry, ok?” you turned your head, still not making eye contact. “i’m sorry too. i was just worried”. he hummed. “i just love you so much. i was worried i would loose you. or even worse you got hurt.” he didn’t make a response for a second. you looked at him. he had wide eyes and his mouth agape. “say that again”. you realized what you said and “i love you, jay”. he kissed you forehead and made you lay down with him for the rest of the night.
ꕤ JAKE ꕤ
as you walked into the cold apartment, your boyfriend jake right behind you, you shivered slightly. you thought it would go unnoticed. you were wrong. “you cold?” he asked sweetly “huh? oh! y-yea i’m good”. “you’re shivering baby”. he told you, grabbing your hand and bringing you over to the couch. he went to his room and came out with a cozy blanket. “here we go”. he said as he put it on your shoulder’s and tucked you in. “j-jake. baby it’s fine. im not that cold.” he smirked and continued taking your shoes off.
“c’mon. just lemme take care of you for once”. you blushed and let him continue. he hummed a little song as he walked to get the remote and then the tv on for you. “here you go. choose whatever you want, love”. we took a few more minutes before coming back over to you. “now i finally get to snuggle with my baby”. you giggled a bit at his remark. he pulled you into his chest and you snuggled in making his heart flutter.
“my baby is so cute”. he said “mine is too”. he smiled. you felt yourself drift into a well deserved slumber. before you fell asleep you heard the love you of your lives voice “goodnight love”. the next thing you know it’s the morning. you woke up in your boyfriends arm around your body. you turned your head to see your boyfriend sleeping peacefully. you smiled “im so in love with you”. his eyes opened with surprise. “did i just hear you right?”. he asked “yea”. you blushed still looking at his eyes. “i love you sim jake”. he tackled you down and kept you under himself “and i love you, l/n y/n”
❆ SUNGHOON ❆
i’m sorry i have to. i love this au sooo mucho. im a proud sunghoon lover. i’m sorry this is so long hehe
you were getting ready for your date with your boyfriend, sunghoon. you wore a cute black blouse and black plaid pants. you looked at yourself in the mirror and smiled, proud of your look. you went outside your apartment building and waited outside for a little bit.
then you finally saw your boyfriend walking up to you in all black just as you are dressed in. he smiled at you. “hey, love”. he said with a smile “hey hoon. where are we going?” you asked curiously. “nope. not telling.” he said and shook his finger in front of your face.
when you got there, he ran over to your side of the car and opened the door for you. “why thank you sir”. you said snarky-ly. “why if course my lady.” he said smirking at you. he put his arm around your head and put his pretty hands over your eyes. “guess who”. “hoon i know it’s you” you giggled. “go forward. i’ll tell you when to stop”. you agreed and started walking forward, doing everything you boyfriend told you in order to not fall.
“ok ready?”. “ready”. he moved his hands and you saw a beautiful ice skating rink with no one in it. “you like it?” he asked stepping in front of you to see your reaction “sunghoon. this is amazing”. he smiled “im glad you like it. let’s go get some skates on. he helped you put you skates on. once you got on the rink you were finally at peace. you skated around for who knows how long until you said something. “hoon. this is amazing”. “im glad you think so”. you looked into each others eyes until you said “i love you”. he started laughing not think you were serious. but then he looked at you again and took your face in his cold hands. he kissed you lips sweetly. “i love you too”.
𖥸 SUNOO 𖥸
“BABYYYYY!!!” you heard from the other side of the grocery isle. you turned your head and saw your sweet boyfriend yelling at you holding a box of something you’ve yet to find out what it is. “hmm?” you asked. “CAN WE GET THEESE?? PLEASEEEE????!!!”. sunoo asked giving you the puppy eyes he knows you can’t resist. “lemme see…hun these are 70% sugar”. you told him, hopping it would convince him. “but whyy?? they look yummy.”he gave you a pouty lip. ‘oh no’ you though in your head. you sighed. “put it in the cart”. “YAY THANK YOU BABYYYY”. you giggled quietly “he’s so cute” you say to yourself.
when you finished paying, you went outside the convince store and sat at the tables across from your boyfriend. “ok sooo we have pepero, ramyeon snacks, choco pie.. and a whole lot of other stuff. OK what should we have first?”. you were looking at your pretty boyfriend while he went through everything.
“y/n? why are you looking at me like that?”. you giggled at yourself a bit “i just think it’s cute how you’re going through everything. i really love you”. his mouth went agape and he put his hand over his mouth to cover it. “DID YOU JUST SAY YOU LOVE ME???!!!” you nodded grinning. we walked over to you and b hugged you so tight you almost couldn’t breath. “s-sunoo i can’t breath.”. “ahhh whoops”. he smiled at you with the biggest grin. “i love you too bub”.
𖠰 NI-KI 𖠰
you are your boyfriend we’re having your usual arcade date. “y/n! let’s go play the mario cart game!” you laughed at your boyfriends excitement. “ok ok let’s go!” you played three rounds, all of which he won. “i told you i would beat you” he said as you walked around to find another game to play together. you turned your head to see a claw machine full of a dolphin plushie you thought was the cutest thing ever. however riki thought you were the cutest thing ever. “should i try and get you one?”. he asked “huh? o-oh! no no no! it’s fine i don’t need it” “c’mere. lemme spoil you for once”. he dragged you back over to the claw machine. it took him two times to get the plushie. “WOW YOU ACTUALLY GOT IT??? ITS SO CUTE!!!” “hehe im glad you like it”. “AHHHH I LOVE IT!!! RIKI ITS SOOOO CUTE THANK YOU SO MUCHHHHH”. you were going absolutely coo coo over the plushie. “THANK YOU RIKI! I LOVE YOUUUU!” he froze where he was. “d-did you just..” you finally looked away from the plush to meet eyes with him. “d-did i just…” “you did”. he smirked at you. you could feel your ears warming up. “don’t worry. i love you too, dork”.

Having her own shop was a dream and a nightmare at the same time for Y/n L/n.  Paying the bills, keeping the flowers beautiful the whole day through, being all day on her feet or dealing with rude costumers were all things Y/n wished she could get rid of. But at the same time, she truly loved her job. Being able to surround herself with flowers was a dream come true, and seeing a smile on the face of a happy customer really made her day. Plus, the shop was in a strategic place in Los Angeles where sometimes famous people came through, and she even had a few celebrities who were usual shoppers. Lucy Dacus stopped from time to time to buy flowers in order to dry them, and considered Y/n a friend. Pedro Pascal always bought flowers for his sister from Y/n, and Ashton Irwin loved to stop by for a chat about how to keep his plants as beautiful as Y/n’s. So, Y/n shouldn’t fall easily for a star, right?
It was a slow day, so Y/n busied herself rearranging flowers on the back of the shop. She was calmly arranging a bouquet of lilies when she heard the bell on top of the door and a pair of shoes rushing in. Curious about who would come bursting in like that, she lowered the volume of the Glenn Miller vinyl that was playing on the background and stepped into the front of the shop while cleaning her hands on her apron. She then saw a person looking like they had run for 10 kilometres, with curls sticking to their red face, and trying to catch some air.
“Hi.” Y/n said calmly “Can I help you with something?” she asked. “Yeah, I think you would be unbelievably helpful right now” they said, making Y/n chuckle amused. “Tell me, what can I do for you?” she said, taking her notebook out, just in case she needed to write something down. The person standing on the other side of the counter leaned a bit on it and tried to arrange the curls around their head. “It’s my mum’s birthday, and I’ve been so busy that I completely forgot about buying her something, and I love her very much I can’t just not buy her anything, and I’m meeting her tonight, I can’t show up empty handed” they said without stopping, catching a quick deep breath “. So Lucy told me to come here and say to you that she sent me and that you could arrange something with flowers that have meaning for, like… now… could you?” they finished, looking expectantly at Y/n. The girl just blinked a few times, taking all the information in. “Which Lucy sent you?” she asked, testing the person’s connection to her, not truly trusting them yet, even though they looked like a decent person to her. “Ummm… Lucy Dacus?” they said, with caution. Y/n visibly lighted up, smiling at the thought of the black haired girl recommending her to her friends. “Well, you should’ve started with that.” She said, turning around and starting to walk to the back of the shop, turning around again to gesture to the still nameless person to follow her back.
If the front of the shop was a dream, full of aromatic plants and antique furniture, the back of it was another level of etherealism. Besides another huge amount of plants and flowers, one wall was a window wall, made out of old looking stained glass of art déco style. There was a table with two chairs were Y/n would have tea, sometimes with someone else, and behind the table there was a bookshelf with heaps of books about flowers and their care and meanings. In the middle of the room there was a worktable with a few half-arranged bouquets of lilies of different colours. Y/n moved with ease around the space, and she turned to face the stranger once she got to the workbench, only to find said stranger with their mouth half opened in awe.
“Are you okay?” Y/n asked, slightly amused with the reaction she was witnessing. The stranger blinked a few times as if to come out of some sort of trance, and responded after centering themselves in the conversation again “Yeah, yeah, fine” they said, making Y/n’s smile a bit brighter. “I’m Naomi, by the way” the stranger said, finally giving a name to the curious person. “Oh, yeas, from Muna, right?” Y/n said, eliciting a nod from Naomi. “Lucy has told me so much about all of you, I don’t know how I couldn’t recognize you the moment you walked in” she said, making Naomi smile a bit. “She really talks about me to you?” Naomi asked, feeling a wave of affection for their friend. “Yeah, she talks about all of you all the time” Y/n said, giggling a bit “. I almost feel like I know you personally sometimes, although meeting you in person makes me realize she forgot to mention some things” she said, standing behind the working table and moving the flowers around to make space for others. “Like what?” Naomi asked, furrowing their brows, thinking that maybe they had given a terrible first impression, when they had been mesmerized with Y/n since they had seen her. The girl standing opposite to them smiled at them coyly before saying nonchalantly “For starters, she forgot to mention you are even more handsome on real life than on pictures.” The comment made the curly haired blush, not expecting the sweet looking florist to be so flirty and straightforward.
Naomi’s reaction made Y/n giggle, feeling like she couldn’t stop smiling around them. She didn’t know where the confidence to be so bold had come from, either. She then decided to stop messing around and get to work. “So” she said, clearing her throat before continuing ´´, what did you want for your mum?” Naomi shook their head for a second, pulling themselves together about the flirty comment from before, and answered the question “I truly don’t know, I just want to tell her I love her, and flowers seemed like a good option” they said, being truly bad at flowers. “So you want to send a message with these flowers” Y/n said, looking at Naomi attentively. “Yeah, basically” they answered, doubting a bit about the rightness of their answer. “Well, if you want I can arrange a bouquet with flowers that mean that you love her” Y/n smiled, always loving to do bouquets with deep meanings. “Do you mean flowers mean something specific?” Naomi asked, making Y/n clutch her pearls in feigned offense. “Of course they do! That’s my job you’re talking about!” she said, making Naomi laugh. Y/n smiled and walked over to the bookshelf, picking up and old-looking book, with a pink cover and golden details.
Y/n sat down on one of the chairs of the table, signalling Naomi to sit in the other one. The florist browsed through the book, in which Naomi could only see beautiful illustrations and paragraphs of what they could guess was information about the flowers in the other page. When Y/n finally had all the information she needed, she closed the book and looked up, only to find the curly haired brunet already looking at her. This discovery made the girl blush and Naomi look away immediately, embarrassed about being caught. Y/n decided not to panic, clearing her throat before speaking “I think I’ve found the ideal flowers” she said “. If you follow me, I can show them to you” she continued, while standing up, already blushing a bit again. Where had all the previous confidence gone? The person now standing in front of her was truly messing with her emotions, and they had only met for roughly 25 minutes, even less.
Y/n waltzed around the room picking up flowers, oblivious to the mesmerized client who was following her. She picked up the flowers and explained their meanings to Naomi “White carnations mean purity, love and beauty; the azaleas are a symbol of womanhood in China, and they are a symbol of love; daisies symbolize purity and innocence; and camellias represent gratitude and longevity” Although Naomi seemed like they were just hypnotized about the girl’s beauty, her words were also enthralling to them. After coming back with the flowers to the worktable, Y/n asked Naomi about their opinion, at which they could only stutter an OK, making the girl working in the bouquet blush and giggle.
When she finished the bouquet, the mixture of carnations, daisies, azaleas and camellias looked beautiful. Y/n’s talent was something that had Naomi’s mouth open in amazement. Their head couldn’t wrap around the fact that two hands and a few flowers had given such result, the florist’s talent oozing from every aspect of the bouquet. Besides from the big possibility of their mum loving the bouquet, Naomi had also fallen in love with the care and talent Y/n had shown making it. Maybe they had also fallen for the hands responsible of such beauty, and the person who controlled them with so much grace.
Y/n finished wrapping the bouquet, not really wanting Naomi to leave her shop. But she knew she couldn’t stop a big ass pop star that surely wasn’t going to fall for her. “I think this is finished” she said, nerves flowing through her whole body. “We can go to the front now” she continued, now moving to the front of the shop, bouquet in hand. While Naomi paid with her card, Y/n finished preparing the gift. When she turned around to get the business card she always gave out to first time clients, she hesitated when deciding what complimentary flower to give to Naomi. She finally chose a lavender coloured rose. She nervously put the flower and the card in a bag with the flowers. She didnt know why she was so shaken, Naomi probably didn’t share her feelings; for fuck’s sake, they had known each other for something more than an hour. When Y/n gave the bag to Naomi their fingers brushed ever so slightly, which resulted in different reactions; Y/n let out a sigh, while Naomi froze immediately. When the florist realized they had spent more time than necessary in that position, she put her hand back as Naomi’s suddenly burned. They just blinked a few times, blushed, turned back and marched through the door mustering a rushed thanks and a farewell. Y/n sighed when Naomi was finally out, leaning on the counter and placing her head between her hands. What a naïve thought, that someone like Naomi McPherson could ever like someone like her. Now, she just had to move on, and try to forget about them.
Tumblr media
Lucy Dacus had decided to have a quiet night. She had a nice dinner, placed a few candles and played some soft background music. She then picked up her current read, and with a cup of a delicious tea that Y/n had suggested her, she got ready to relax, plunging down on the armchair she loved the most. That relaxing, though, didn’t last long, as she heard the doorbell ring. She groaned, detangling herself and getting up to open the door. If it was her annoying neighbour again, she was ready to throw hands. However, when she opened the door, there was no nosy neighbour on the other side; instead, Naomi was there, nervously biting her nails, and looking a bit miserable. “Naomi? What are you doing here? Are you okay?” Lucy asked, worried about her friend’s state. “Where the fuck did you send me?” they just said, spreading their arms exasperated. “What?” Lucy just said, sincerely confused. Seeing as the only answer from Naomi was a pair of widened eyes, which lead to Lucy sighing and moving from the door, signalling Naomi to come in. Goodbye, quiet night.
After a cup of tea, Naomi had calmed down, and they had told Lucy about those afternoon events. “And when I finished dinner with my mum I needed to vent, and as you were the one who told me to go to her, I just…” they finished, trailing down at the end. Lucy nodded in understanding, not needing to hear more from her friend before concluding “So basically, you fell head over heels for her and you think she doesn’t correspond your feelings”. Naomi just mustered a “yeah” while dropping their head in defeat. Lucy nodded again, leaning back on the armchair she was sitting in. “Well, we can kind of know how she feels about you” she said, smiling softly, making Naomi shoot their head up, waiting for a solution for their problems. “Did you keep the flower she gave you with her card?” Lucy said, already knowing the answer. Naomi slowly reached for a pocket in their jacket, taking out a lavender rose. Lucy got up and moved towards a shelf next to a window, where she saw rain starting to pour. She took a book from the shelf, under the curious stare of her friend. The book was a Victorian guide to flower meanings, which Lucy had somehow managed to thrift. She looked through the book sat on the armchair again. She could feel Naomi biting their nails and looking nervously at her. Finally, she found it. “It says here that lavender roses mean…” Lucy stopped, looking kindly at the meaning “It’s a flower that represents enchantment love at first sight” she said, looking again at Naomi, whose mouth was now partly opened in shock and eyes completely opened. They quickly recomposed and started shaking their head in denial. “Come on, Dacus, stop playing” they said, not believing what Lucy was saying. “I’m not” Lucy replied, showing the book to them. Naomi was feeling a weird mix of emotions, between shock, denial and complete confusion, with a tint of utter affection. Was this some kind of sick and twisted joke?
Naomi got up and started pacing Lucy’s living room, not sure about what that really meant. They knew they had liked Y/n, call it love at first sight if you feel like it, but something had bloomed in that flower shop, and not only the plants. Lucy closed the book and laid back, deciding to leave Naomi to walk around and calm down. They finally did, sitting across Lucy again. Taking a deep breath, the curly haired talked for the first time in the last few minutes, breaking the silence that had settled itself on the room, mixed with the sound of drops of the still pouring rain. “What do you think I should do?” they asked Lucy for advice, with a hint of somewhat fear on their voice. “I can’t decide anything for you” Lucy said, shaking their head. “I’m not asking for instructions, Luce, I want your opinion” Naomi said, in a soft tone. Lucy sighed and leaned towards her friend “Do you like Y/n?” she asked, not really expecting a forward answer. “Yeah, I think I do” Naomi said with a sincere voice, astounding Lucy, who blinked and talked again. “Do you want to tell her that?” “I think I do” they replied again. Lucy questioned Naomi for a third time “I have her address. Do you want me to give it to you?” she said, and spoke again before Naomi could say anything “And don’t say that you think you do” she half-threatened. Her friend closed their mouth, opening it not much of a second later “I truly want her address” Lucy nodded, getting up to write it on a blue piece of paper. When she finished, she folded it and gave it to Naomi, who was standing up, nervously playing with their fingers. The moment they had the paper, they gave a heartfelt hug to Lucy, and then sprinted to the door. Lucy saw them get into their car and smiled softly. She didn’t mind a night not so quiet if it was for the sake of romance.
Tumblr media
Y/n was laying on her couch, one feet dangling off it. She laid there, looking at pictures of Naomi on Pinterest, although if someone asked, she was reading the Rilke book that was now laying on the coffee table next to her. She sighed, turning her phone off and keeping to staring to the ceiling. How was she so stupid that she had been so enchanted by someone who had been in her store for an hour. She stood up and picked up the book, deciding it was enough pining for someone she probably would never see again. She read a few pages, but didn’t last long before putting the book in her lap and looking out the window. She looked at the pouring rain, which she loved. She knew she should hate the rain, but she loved the romanticism of it all, even though she knew she would never have her ever so idyllic love confession in the rain.
Just as she was lost on her thoughts, Y/n heard the doorbell ring. She wondered who the hell would be knocking at that time in the night, even more with that terrible weather, which truly didn’t invite to going out. She kept wondering who it could be as she walked to the door, expecting to see a neighbour or someone trying to sell her some stupid product. However, the only person she found waiting outside of her house was a drenched Naomi. Y/n’s eyes opened wide as she took the sigh in, with her breath getting caught in her throat.
Y/n talked, although the lump she felt on her throat made it a bit difficult. “What are you doing here?” she said, not being able to move herself from her spot on the door entrance. “I needed to see you” they said, with a tint of hopelessness in their voice. Y/n felt like flowers were blooming in her stomach, with the leaves and petals tickling her stomach. “How did you know where I lived?” Y/n asked again, nerves now flowing through her system. Naomi looked a bit guilty before answering “Lucy gave it to me, I asked her for it”. Y/n made a mental note of scolding her later, but asked the last question she couldn’t stop pondering about. “And why did you want to see me, Naomi?” she said, not sure if she wanted to hear the response. Naomi breathed deeply before replying. “I like you” they said, making Y/n’ world turn upside down in a matter of microseconds. She tried to calm down her breath, that was now working, but too fast for anyone’s liking.
However, Naomi misinterpreted the silence, thinking that Y/n was somewhat outraged by the statement, apologizing while moving back to what Y/n suspected was their car “I’m sorry, this was a mistake”. Y/n snapped back then, following Naomi to their car with a quick pace “Naomi, wait!” she said, trying to get Naomi to look at her. The curly haired, which hair was now not so curly as it was soaked and stuck to their face, turned around and looked at her with a pained look on their face. Y/n tried to find the words, but they seemed to be stuck to the walls of her throat. Naomi exhaled, turning back once more to unlock their car. Seeing as the opportunity of confessing was slipping through her fingers, Y/n decided to take matter in her own hands… literally. She got closer to Naomi and took their face into their hands, pulling them in for a kiss. The kiss was short and sweet, and Y/n pulled away to see what reaction that had elicited from Naomi. They just stared at Y/n with a look of shock on their face, that didn’t last so long, as their brain decided to finally act. Naomi took Y/n face in her hands and kissed her again, now deepening the kiss. The moment under the rain seemed to last forever, as both their hearts synchronized in loud thumps. When they finally pulled away from one another, the rain kept pouring over them with an astounding force that seemed to mimic the strength of their feelings for one another. They were both soaked as they stood outside of Y/n’s house, smiling to each other like the infatuated idiots that they were.
“I liked the flower” Naomi said, still not getting away from one another. Y/n laughed, touching her forehead with Naomi’s. “It was not as subtle as I intended it to, I guess” she said, making Naomi laugh now. “I liked it better that way” they voiced, giving a small kiss to the side of Y/n lips. It that was a dream, they both hope they would never wake up.

“chann~~~” y/n lets out in her sing-songy voice as she calls out to her lover who’s legs are sprawled upon her thighs as she gently massages his feet, rigorous weeks of performances and endless hours of dance practice making his flatfeet hurt to the point that just walking seemed like it would require all the remaining strength in his body. The feeling of his lover’s tiny hands that he adores so much, especially when they are entrapped in his own, feel so relieving against the soles of his feet he sighs in relief and almost misses her calling out to him, but he refrains himself from losing focus.
His focus shifts back to where he was massaging the back of his lover’s neck and her shoulders, releasing the knots she’s gotten from her desk job. Chan relaxes against the bed’s headboard with y/n sat between his legs, massaging the feet that landed on top of her thighs when chan wrapped his legs around her waist. They both relish in the touch of the other, silent grunts leaving them as their tangle of limbs begin to limp slowly yet surely, but chan breaks out of his trance, remembering to answer back from behind her with a hum of acknowledgment urging her to continue.
“I was thinking~” y/n’s voice hasn’t lost its tone from earlier when she is suddenly interrupted by her boyfriend who’s ministrations stop temporarily as his hands drop down to her waist to pull her flush against him as he poses a question before she can continue,
“are you just thinking or are you thinking~ ?” chan lays emphasis on the last word. He’s repeating it in the exact same tone as hers from earlier and some sub-conscious part in the back of her head feels astonished over his musical talent in the most mundane of situations. She shifts her focus back to the situation at hand as she chuckles, turning her head back to look up at him in amusement, ‘what is that even supposed to mean?’
“well..” chan elongates the last syllable, ‘when you’re just thinking, its everyday stuff usually, you’re thinking about when to do the next grocery run, you could be thinking about going back to pilates, what you want to order for our next takeout night, you could be thinking of a purchase you need to make, a gift you want to buy, a call you need to make, electricity bills you know just everything normal, everyday stuff..” chan’s voice trails off as he detaches your hands from his feet and brings them into his, brushing his thumb over the back of your hand in silent appreciation for you.
“and what happens when I’m thinking?” y/n asks him, still a bit amazed about how her boyfriend had different interpretations of her saying the same thing, just with a slight change of tone.
‘when you’re thinking~” chan hasn’t let go of the exact same tone from before as he continues, “it can mean anything from a new hair color you want either of us to try or booking the both of us an impromptu trip to Hawaii without any money in your pocket. Its basically a wild card.”
The evening sun casts its pink-orange glow onto the couple wrapped up in each other’s arms, y/n finding her lover astoundingly beautiful under the hues cascading through their large windows. Her hands move up to his face, thumbs gently tracing his jaw, eyes not focused at anything in particular but still looking at what she believed to be the sum of all the love that the universe had planned to give her, packed and summed up into the man whose warm hold feels like her personal shield. y/n believes that even though the both of them have lives filled with people that carry so much love and joy in their hearts, its in the hearts of each other that they were made to find solace in. If soulmates existed and love was true, the light freckles under her lover’s eyes wrote love on his face in a language only they both could understand, a language that lived as long as they did, and would vanish into the void silently, peacefully with them.
“you’re zoning out on me again, pretty” chan’s soft reprimand brings her out of her trance. She shakes her head a little bit, as if physically shaking herself out of the floaty comforting headspace chan’s presence puts her in often. ‘want to tell me what you were thinking~ about, now?’
‘well you’re going to Japan next month, right?’ y/n asks, coming down slowly still,
‘I do, I wish I could take you along though’ chan’s words drift off into a small pout towards the end, pressing a kiss to his lover’s forehead. Parting from her made him sad and pouty to no end, but chan was quick to learn that y/n would always kiss his pouts away as a rule, almost. But it wasn’t chan if he admitted to using it against her to get more kisses, it was his own secret.
‘coming back to earlier, so, I was thinking~ what if…’ y/n trails off again, slowly noticing chan’s patience wearing off and watching him grow more agitated and it gave her the time of her life. y/n had a general struggle of keeping conversations quick and to the point, but maybe she did use it against chan because watching him grow agitated and whiny was amusing to no end, it was her own secret.
‘what if we get you a bigger carrier, your old one’s a bit wobbly no?’ y/n asks in all seriousness face now resting on his shoulder, and chan chuckles again,
‘is that what you were thinking all this while? And this one’s okay baby I don’t think I need a bigger one?’ chan has no idea again as to where y/n could be going with this but he goes along.
‘no because you see.. if we, if we get you a bigger carrier, maybe its going to make it easier to..’
‘to what, baby girl?’ chan asks again, voice softer, cooing at her almost
‘well its going to make it easier to carry all our stuff at one place because I might have got Changbin and Minho to convince your staff to bring me along and maybe let us stay for 2 more days after because its our anniversary?’ y/n says all that in a single breath and huffs out, eyes expectant and waiting for a response as nervousness pools in them.
‘no way..’ chan whispers to y/n, not wanting to say it too loud in case it was a dream and it would all go away if he was too careless talking about it. Chan’s still not believing it, even after y/n enthusiastically nodding at him, kissing his full lips again to make him believe that she was indeed coming along with him. He slaps himself mentally, both to wake himself up and also for not thinking about it earlier. Mischief pokes its head around chan’s brain again, because how did she come up with it before he could.
“and.. what if I said no? what would you do then? It is dangerous to do it, you know it too princess” her face falls almost entirely at his words and chan’s heart hurts seeing her reaction, but he’s perplexed when her face lights up again,
‘then I’ll just, I’ll just sit in your carrier, because there’s no way I pulled the amount of strings I did to just not do it.’ Chan splutters with laughter again, chest vibrating and body shaking at the memory of his dog doing the same to him every time he has to come back from home in Australia, and the visual of his girlfriend sitting with her legs folded in his carrier, doe eyes looking up at him with silent pleas, refuses to leave his head as he laughs more, squeezing her harder in his arms.
‘oh so you’re learning from berry now?’ chan asks as he wipes tears away from the corner of his eyes, stomach hurting from laughing that hard. y/n’s seriousness almost throws him in a laughing fit again but he refrains, a chuckle escaping him every now and then, awaiting an answer.
‘I can’t deny she has good tricks up her paws’ chan finally lets his second laughing fit escape him, wheezing at her words all over again.
‘you know what else berry is good at?’ chan asks as he slowly recovers, mischief now completely coming out to the forefront of his brain,
‘what is it?’
‘kisses, berry gives me sooo many kisses, you’ve barely given me any you know?’ chan pouts in fake annoyance again, crossed fingers hopeful that he gets what he wants,
‘oh you’re in for it bahng’ y/n says as she pushes him down onto the bed with her hands firm on his shoulder. She lies flat on top of him, aggressively kissing the entire expanse of his face. 'Finally' Chris thinks to himself, hands holding y/n down on top of him, pillowy lips against her, as evening faded into the night from their bedroom window, thankful to the stars twinkling outside, probably smiling down at them too.

12 Quick Questions for John Cho Engaging actor joins Season 2 of Apple TV+’s ‘The Afterparty’
Q: Would you consider yourself a party person?
A: When I was going to parties more when I was young … I would go rolling up in a corner and people watch. I remember when I was in college [The University of California, Berkeley], I used to like to take my lunch on the steps in the big plaza there and just sit on the steps and people watch. It’s my favorite activity, maybe.
Q: What factors persuade you to commit to an acting project, including The Afterparty?
A: It’s a little bit like falling in love. You can have your criteria, but you never know until you meet the script. But top of order are [the] people — cool people that you want to work with. It all just starts with the people, and then the script, and then the character.
Tumblr media
Cho, far left, stars in Season 2 of the murder mystery series “The Afterparty” on Apple TV+.
Q: Who are some “cool people” you’d like to work with in the future?
A: The list is quite long. There’s so many people, so little time. I’m running out of years … I admire people from many genres, but one thing that I’m keen to do moving forward is [that] I’d like to work with friends more … One of the best feelings is to return to work with someone that you really love. There’s nothing quite like it.
Q: Your young-adult novel, Troublemaker, narrated by a 12-year-old character, was published this year. Any plans to write another book?
A: I’m working on something else right now, but I’m trying to see when I can set aside time to return to that. The coolest thing about the process of releasing a book has been the new artistic community that's been made available to me — all these authors that I’ve met. Now, authors are [asking] me, “Would you read my book and blurb it?” That community has been really cool. And not incidentally, meeting teachers and librarians through the releases of the book has been really wonderful and edifying.
Q: Why did you choose to write a book for that age group?
A: Twelve is at an age when I was moving around quite a bit, and I felt like I was a new kid in school every six months. The constant in my life was books. I relied on them very heavily to combat loneliness and feel that there was some kind of stability in my life. I never really saw someone that looked like myself on the cover of those books that I was reading. I thought it would be just a little Christmas gift for a 12-year-old me.
Q: What’s the first book you fell in love with?
A: The first book that meant a lot to me personally was Little House on the Prairie. I very, very clearly saw my own family, who are immigrants, in the Ingalls family that were traveling all over America alone. So I drew very conscious parallels between my family and theirs. I think that was the first series of books that meant a lot to me personally.
Q: Do you remember what it felt like to immigrate to the U.S. at age 6?
A: It’s a curious experience to immigrate as a kid, because on the one hand you’re very adaptable, and on the other, you’re not emotionally developed enough to know, to admit, that things are difficult. So certain things seem easy to you because, for instance, you can get the language easier than your parents. But on the other hand … you’re unable to identify things that make you feel unstable, and things that are emotionally difficult can sort of slip right past you until many years later. It’s a mixed bag. In some ways I’m still kind of figuring it out — what that experience was and how it defined my life.
Q: Is there an important life lesson, then, that you want to teach your own kids?
A: I don’t know that I consciously teach my kids [ages 10 and 15] a lot of stuff. The thing that I try to do most with them is to make them feel loved and safe, and then we’ll go from there. But In terms of what immigration has taught me, I think the lesson of immigration for me — and maybe I do teach it to my kids — is probably [that] you have to empathize with all human beings. You don’t know what their lives have been like up until the point you meet them.
Q: Are we ever going to see Harold and Kumar back together again?
A: That would please me. I don’t know. I’m not aware of any solid plans, but we talk about it from time to time, and if there’s an opportunity, perhaps. I think some of the rights issues are a little thorny, but the creators and Kal [Penn] and I are keen. We’d love to do one. It would be real fun to do one after all these years, as we’re almost AARP members ourselves.
Tumblr media
Cho and Kal Penn starred in the 2004 comedy, “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.”
Q: You’re actually already eligible for AARP membership. Speaking of, did you have a big celebration last year for your 50th? A: I forget, sometimes [that] I’m 51 this year. In our house, all birthdays are kid birthdays. It’s all cakes for them and whatever they want to eat and handmade cards. It’s my favorite.
Q: Do you think about aging, and does it give you pause?
A: Sure. In some ways, this age is a very strange place to be when you have kids and aging parents. You’re taking care of both sides of your family. Raising the kids, you’re seeing the beginning of one life, and closer to the end on the other end. So, yes, you’re in a position where you’re forced to reflect on your body and other bodies and also spirits and also the longevity of life, of spirit. I have all the thoughts, all the time, because you’re forced to. Being this age, you’re seeing it all and you’re in the nexus of all these lives.
Q: What do you do to relax and feel grounded?
A: If I’m feeling anxious — it almost always does something for me in a good way — is to go outside, feel the wind, look at the trees … It sounds so simple, but it works for me. Everyone, if you have a park near your house, go to the park and spend half an hour there. It’ll do you good.

1/ What is a woman?
In the @MattWalshBlog documentary "What is a Woman?" woke gender experts say:
-No one thing makes someone a woman -Woman can mean many things to many people -Some Women have penises
Let's explain what's happening here, and how to push back.
A thread🧵
2/ The first thing we need to do is get clear about why they say Women can have penises, there's no one thing that defines "woman", and woman can mean many things to many people.
Why do they think this?
We need to understand WHY they believe these things before we can push back
3/ To understand this we need to unpack a point about language and especially "categories." This is the hardest part of this thread, but once we have this point nailed down the rest is easy.
Wokeness thinks that all categories are "socially constructed." What that means is...
4/ We use categories to carve up the world and organize our understanding of reality. We use names, labels, descriptions, and other linguistic tools to break apart to world, to divide it and draw lines so we can understand it
This is hard, so here's an example: Think of a forest
5/ The forest contains many objects. Suppose you're the first person to discover a forest and you want to study it. What you might do is try and figure what is in the forest.
So you go walking and see a lot of really tall things with a brown trunk and green leafy things on top.
6/ You decide that all the things that are tall with brown trunks are categorized as "trees." You see things running about roaring and growling. You categorize them as "animals." You see things fly and chirp and make nests, so you categorize those as "birds."
See how it works?
7/ We put things in categories to intellectually organize them so we can makes sense of the world.
We also categorize at different levels.
Look at trees. The top level is the category "tree." The next level what makes up the tree: "leaves," "branches," "bark," and "roots"
8/ See how it works?
We start at the highest level with the category "forest," move down a level to"trees," move down to "leaves" we can even categorize the parts of leaves:
Tumblr media
9/ Now in wokeness, the idea is that we can construct any category we want, and we can organize things however we want.
Lets use books as an example.
You can organize you books in order of author, genre, length, publisher, fiction/non-fiction, or by the colour of the cover...
Tumblr media
10/ The woke think we can organize the world using whatever categories we want to invent. It's up to us. There is no objectively right way to do it.
Trees are only categorized as "trees" because we put them in that category.
Now, this next bit is the key to the whole thing...
11/ The woke don't think our categories are made to help us get an objectively TRUE picture of the world. They think we invent categories ACCORDING TO OUR OWN INTERESTS. We categorize things according to what we care about and what matters to us
We can categorize however we want
12/ Now, the same process we use to categorize the physical world is the process we use the categorize society. Our social categories, the categories we use to organize how society works are also "socially constructed."
That includes the terms "man" and "woman...."
13/ Now here is the point:
The woke think that the categories "man" and "woman" are arbitrary categories. They are not accurate reflections of the world as it is, they are categories invented by people who wanted to divide society into the groups "men" and "women"
14/ The woke think these categories were arbitrarily constructed by the dominant group in society (straight white men) in order to set up society in the way that makes everyone conform to the straight white male ideal of how things should be.
The woke things we could have...
15/ used any categories at all. We could divided people up by eye color, shoe size, or hair length
They woke don't think "man" and "woman" describe any objective fact about the world: They are made up to force people to fit into categories created by straight white men...
16/ The woke think putting someone into an arbitrary category that they don't want to be in is an act of oppression.
They want people to join whatever category they want. This is why they say "a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman," and this is where the trouble starts:
[ Sorry, I can't add more than one video. ]
17/ To attack the categories "man" and "woman", they usually do 2 things:
1. Say "a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman,"
2. Nitpick the definition of "man" and "woman" to make it look like we can't give a biological definition of "woman"
Let's show how to deal with both
18/ Let's start with:
1."a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman"
The problem here is two fold.
First, the definition is circular: it uses the term being defined (woman) as a part of the definition. This assumes we already know what a woman is!
Let's make that more clear:
19/ Suppose I invent the word "ZORP" and I define ZORP as "anyone who identifies as a ZORP.
Do you know what ZORP means?
Given my definition, how would you know if you want to identify as a ZORP? On what Basis would anyone identify as a ZORP?
And here is the key...
20/ "a ZORP is anyone who identifies as a ZORP" **doesn't give us any new information** about what ZORP means, what the Criteria are for identifying as a ZORP, what feeling like a ZORP means, or anything else.
Same thing goes for "a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman"
21/ That definition of woman does not tell us what it means when someone says they identify as a woman.
A person could say "I identify as a woman because I had eggs this morning" and no one could argue. It leaves the term without a proper definition and renders it meaningless.
22/ If you can identify as a woman for any reason at all, because a woman is whoever identifies as a woman I could say "I am participating in the women's 100M dash because I identify as a woman because I had eggs for breakfast," and no one could argue with me.
This is absurd...
23/ Let's now turn to the second move they do to attack biological categories.
2. Nitpick the definition of "man" and "woman" to make it look like we can't give a biological definition of "woman"
This one is harder to beat, but analytic philosophy gives us tools to defeat it.
24/ A nice example of this strategy come to us from @VaushV
Here, he shows us an example of attacking the definition of "woman" by attempting to show that there are border line cases that we can't account for.
Here is his argument:
Tumblr media
25/ The way this argument works is to find cases where there is a person who is missing some feature of female biology that we think women have, or who have biological features men usually have.
The goal is to show that there are women who do not fit our definition of woman...
26/ Another way this argument is used is to present a chart like the one below, and then argue that the everyday definition of women that people use does not account for every single one of the various exceptions, anomalies, and variations that exist in the world...
Tumblr media
27/ Both of these types of arguments make use of the same rhetorical and argumentative strategy:
Appealing to borderline cases and anomalies to argue that the lines our definition draw are inadaquate.
Let's use another example examine this strategy, then show why it fails.
28/ Suppose I ask you "what is a 'stack, of books?"
Is one book a stack? what about 2 books? Or 3 books? Or 4 books?
So you say 4 books, and I ask "why not 3?"
You can't think of a reason and agree to 3 books. So I say "why not 2?" You again agree, so I say "why not 1?"
29/ So you say "well that isn't a stack?"
And I say, why not? Is five books 10 pages long a stack? Is one 50,000 page book a stack? What counts as a stack?
You, not knowing analytic philosophy, are stumped.
This move is called "the fallacy of the beard"
I'll explain...
30/ The beard fallacy is named for the example of a beard. One hair on the chin is not a beard, nor is two, nor is 3, and we can add one hair at a time, and at some point the person has a beard. But drawing the line is hard. It seems odd to say 299 hairs is not a beard but 300 is
31/ But that doesn't mean there is no difference between having a beard and not having a beard. There is, it is just hard to pinpoint and justify drawing a precise line at the exact number of hairs. The same is true with determining the exact number of books required for a stack.
32/ This logic can be used with other things as well.
Think of a table and chair. We can blur those lines. Is a chair I set my drink on a table? Is a table I sit on a chair?
What about k-12 desks? Does this mean we don't know the difference between tables and chairs?👇👇👇
Tumblr media
33/ Of course not.
All these examples us the same bad reasoning: they claim the existence of unclear cases implies there are no clear lines, or that the existence of borderline cases means that we don't actually know where the lines are drawn.
Let's show why this is wrong...
34/ The beard fallacy relies on a wrong assumption pointed out by John Searle in his essay "Literary Theory and it's Discontents." That assumption is (quoting Searle): "unless a distinction can be made rigorous and precise, WITH NO MARGINAL CASES, it is not a distinction at all."
35/ Searle points out that all concepts are rough around the edges. He gives a technical argument for why it is a fact about humans and the way we use language and communicate that our concepts will always have edge cases.
Think of it this way:
Tumblr media
36/ We all have different networks of beliefs, experiences, ideas, and we have a background of capacities, abilities, and presuppositions we use when communicating. This fact makes it impossible develop any concept that are so clear nobody can misinterpret it.
That means...
37/ Someone somewhere will always be able to come up with some edge case which doesn't fit perfectly.
There is one more point...ALMOST DONE
We can apply the beard fallacy to everything that exists, cars, lakes, mountains, the earth, sausages, and anything else and do this...
38/ We can take your car and say "I will remove one atom, or molecule, from your car at a time...how many atoms EXACTLY can I remove before your car ceases to be a car. At some point the whole car will be gone. how many atoms can I take and still have your car be a car?
Now...
39/ Using beard fallacy logic we have to conclude if you can't draw an exact line for how many atoms your car has to have to be a car you don't know what a car is. I can do this with anything.
I can say "how many atoms must a sausage have? what about a goat? or a hat?"
40/ You see how that works?
No woke person would let you steal there money and then blur the definition of dollar bill by saying "how many atoms of this bill can I take before you accuse me of theft?"
"But wokal, how do I explain that, it's so complex"
It's very simple....
41/ When someone brings up borderline examples or edge cases and says "This example proves we don't know where the lines are"...the correct response is:
"THE ONLY REASON YOU CAN THINK UP CASES THAT BLUR THE LINE IS THAT YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE LINE IS "
See how it works?
42/ They can only blur the lines with cases that fall on or close to the line because they know where the line is. When they bring up edge cases, they only know those are on the edge because the edge is clear enough for them to find...and they know EXACTLY what we mean by "woman"
43/ Ok, we're done! I know that was long but I hope now you now have the tools and needed to push back when woke gender theorists say "a woman is whoever identifies as a woman," or when they try to blur the lines of your definition of what a woman is.
So, let's define woman:
44/ This definition comes to use from the wonderful @HeatherEHeying:
Women are adult human females….Females are individuals who do or did or will or would, but for developmental or genetic anomalies, produce eggs.
Tumblr media
45/ And when the woke gender theorists try to attack your that definition by blurring lines or using circular definitions you now know exactly how to respond.
Thanks for reading, I really appreciate it. 😀😀😀😀
/fin
==
The woke don't use language to communicate. They believe it's used to exert control, so that's the way they use it. They don't believe that reality is there to be discovered and described, but created and imposed onto others. Multiple realities and multiple truths. My truth is as good as your truth. This is why their projects always involve redefining words, scolding people who don't comply, and censoring dissenters. The view of social constructivists is that if language constructs reality, then they can always construct it differently.
But reality won't be fooled by word games. The only question is how much damage will the attempt inflict, and who will suffer the consequences.

Tea and Books Asks
Thank you Dreamling Nation server for being so unhinged as to make this an actual tag game!
So @quillingwords @mathomhouse-e @firemandeanbuck tagged me and at this point I think I’m the last one to make this so if anyone’s missing feel free to do it!
1. What period of history do you enjoy learning about?
Honestly I think I enjoy it all! I love history 🖤
2. Who is your favourite fictional character and why?
I have too many! as of right now I can honestly say that spots goes to Dream of the Endless—he is a complex character full of tragedy and contradictions and I love him for it.
3. What do you order at a café?
Usually I drink black coffee but if I go out to buy myself coffee I guess I’ll go for an extra strong coffee with a dash of milk.
Sometimes I get a caramel macchiato but that’s when I feel like I want a special treat not an everyday sort of coffee.
4. Libraries, botanical gardens, or art galleries?
In theory I love libraries and gardens are lovely as well but my heart will forever will be with museums and art galleries.
5. Do you have a favourite film soundtrack? I’ll do you one better and name a few: Labyrinth, Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Coraline, Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit.
I love OST music 🖤
6. What does your dream home look like?
It would have to be a cozy little house tucked away somewhere quiet —perhaps in the middle of a forest? I would love to be able to relax, enjoy the nature and do all the things that I love like reading and drawing and painting ✨
7. What makes you feel better on gloomy days? Warm soft things like a thick blanket and a nice cup of tea—perhaps eating something sweet and listening to my favorite music or watching a comfort movie/series.
8. What are your top three films? Books? My mind is *blank* so I’ll name just one of each because *awkward hand gesture* Movie Perfect Blue, Satoshi Kon Book Almond, Sohn Won-pyung.
9. Are you an organized person, generally? I am perhaps a little *too* organized! I’ve been working on trying to be more relaxed about it. And I think I’m making a good job at it!
10. Do you have a favourite classic novel? Several—I’ll chose The Bell Jar , Sylvia Plath because it’s been sometime since I read and I miss it.
11. What character archetype or trope is your favourite? I have a soft sport for creatives, rebels and truth seekers probably because I see myself in those.
12. Do you prefer baking or cooking? I don’t think I prefer one over the other but I do find baking more relaxing and rewarding.
13. Which season do you feel at home in? Autumn! Or more specifically that little place between changing seasons always feels wonderful.
14. What is your opinion on poetry? Love it!
15. Do you speak formally when texting and emailing? Since I only text family and close friends then no but emails probably yes since most ( if not all) of them are work related.
16. How do you organize your music playlists? I’m basic so I usually organize them by language ( I have list in English, Spanish, Japanese and Korean for example) Genre and *sometimes* mood.
17. Who is your favourite author? I collect those like Pokémon so I’ll pick one at random and say my beloved Banana Yoshimoto.
18. Chai or hot chocolate? Both! Though I usually drink hot chocolate only during the winter.
19. Do you prefer forests, sea shores, or meadows? Forest for sure!
20. If you were to cultivate a fruit orchard, what would you grow? Probably something basic like apples or cherries mostly because I grew up climbing those and I have lots of fond memories of sitting and eating on those trees while swinging my legs back and ford and feeling like I was on top of the world.

Note
Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks....
Hi Anon! Thank you so much for the ask! No, I hadn’t been asked this before.
It was quite hard to come up with 10 names for, outside of my current blorbos, throughout my life (which is quite longer than that of most people around this site) I’ve consumed and loved a lot of fiction, and so I’ve loved many characters, but also many of them I fell in love when I was too young to know (or remember) why I liked them, or know anything about characterization at all.
Still, I tried to cover a wide variety of works/genres, which as I racked my brains came with some interesting revelations:
- The first characters that came to mind were all males. It took me an extra effort to recall some female characters that I love.
- The list is white af. This can be for a number of reasons, all related to complex societal dynamics, cultural constructs and how the media portrays or ignores this. This is meant a light hearted ask, so I won’t delve into that, but I did want it to make clear that yes, I’m aware this list lacks diversity.
Some of these media I haven't seen for years so apologies if my memory of some details is not very accurate.
Last but not least, as I don’t like the reductionism of “top x”, I am listing with bullets for these come in no particular order. (Except Levi, of course; as current top Blorbo he could actually fill the top 10 by himself.)
Levi Ackerman (AoT) – He kicks ass, he’s a no-nonsense guy, he’s got a rough exterior but it’s a kind person. He’s had a shitty life but he chooses to be the good guy, even if he has to resort to violence sometimes.
Severus Snape (HP) – I said it already and I’ll say it again that I’ve no proof and no doubt that if you were a Snape fangirl, you’ll be a Levi fangirl. Snape makes Levi look like Miss Congeniality in comparison. He too had a rough life, went over to the dark side, yet realised he’d fucked up big time and spent the rest of his life trying to minimize the damage his actions had caused. PLUS he’s a huge nerd.
Mike Ehrmentraut (BB/BCS) – Mike is SO OVER being a badass. He just wants to live a quite life spoiling his grandaughter. His curse is being too good at what he does, and he can’t help but care about the idiots that would die if he wasn’t there to clean their messes. (On the topic of diversity... Honorable mention for Stanley from The Office and Lester from The Wire, whose “I’m too old for this shit” vibes give me life).
Arya Stark (GOT) – She didn’t stay around suffering for her losses nor went into a rampage, nope. She took the long scenic route to become a pro killer to serve her revenge in a cold dish.
Heidi (from the 70's anime series)– Hands down my first and oldest Blorbo. She lived in the mountains, roamed barefoot on beautiful meadows, was friends with a bunch of goats and all the little critters of the alps. What’s not to love? (At the ripe age of 3, I would make my mum buy me goat cheese bc if Heidi ate it, so must I. At 4 my parents took me to the mountains in winter so I could see the snow and the fir trees that Heidi loved. We’re rewatching now and my new Heidi Blorbo is Joseph the dog, he’s got big Mike Ehrmentraut energy).
Jesse Pinkman (BB)– He’s a good guy who fell into the wrong path. He’s had rotten luck, partly brought onto himself through bad choices and poor judgement, yet he still tries to do good and craves some love.
Petunia Dursley (HP)- Harry's unlikable aunt kinda grew on me over the years, as we saw some of her backstory and how it resonated with parts of my own family history. She grew up knowing herself the lesser child and I believe she never got a chance to smooth things over with Lily. In spite of which P. still cared enough to do the right thing and take charge of Harry (horribly, admittedly).
Omar Little (The Wire) - I don't usually like "bad" characters but Omar was more badass than he was bad. Circumstances made him a violent criminal but he I believe he had redemption potential. Also, how cool is it that he was unequivocally gay in a setting where everyone tends to be so macho... but of course no one would say anything about it. bc it's Omar.
Peter - he's the MC and first person narrator from a rather unknown Ray Bradbury's short story titled “I’m not so dumb” which is one of my favourite Bradbury's tales. Like the title suggests, as the story unfolds the simple-minded Peter will try to show his neighbours that he's not that stupid.
Mafalda - I could not leave out the title character of the (likely) most famous comic in Argentine history. Mafalda's concern for world affairs is of course unrealistic, but it does sort of put those call-outs "in the mouth of babes".

Fan Girl in Full Force.
There's an old saying out there that states you should never meet your heros because they'll likely dissapoint you.
Or something like that, based on the dozens of slightly different versions of the saying.
While that may be true sometimes, I can tell you, for sure, it hasn't been true in all the cases I've experienced.
Like today, for instance.
Mitze and I headed for Gulfport, Florida this morning for the ReadOut festival.
The festival was 3 days of panels, signings and events for fans and authors of LGBTQ+ literature.
The 11:30am panel featured Georgia Beers, whose books I read regularly.
But for me the big draw was that Melissa Brayden was going to be there!
Yes! The creator of one of my top 2 (maybe) 3 stories.
The Last Lavender Sister.
My thoughts on the book date in this Blogairy back to October and since then I've read it at least a dozen times (probably more).
She was on a panel discussing the romance genre for an hour that seemed liked 10 minutes.
Tumblr media
<Melissa and Georgia>
Afterwards there was an area where you could meet the authors and have them sign your books.
I have to admit I was a nervous wreck!
But I summoned my courage and approached her table.
I then went total "Fan Girl" on her! LOL
She was patient, kind and understanding as I got it out of my system.
It was at this point we actually settled down into a nice conversation.
I told her I had been through the 3 C's (Coma, Cancer and Chemo) and that I find her books a source of joy and comfort and inspiration.
She gave me a big hug.
I got one from Georgia as well!
We posed for a selfie:

<Melissa Brayden and Georgia Beers>
The she signed my copy of The Last Lavenday Sister and I got autographed book marks too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All in all, I can't begin to tell you how nice they both were to me.
I'm just a fan of thier work (be it a fan with a remarkable back story) but they treated me so well.
It's not often you get to tell the creator of art that has touched you and inspired you how it really means.
I got that rare opportunity today and I'm so glad I did.
Floating down the streets of Gulfport for a couple of hours afterwards I looked around, bought some trinkets and after calming down decided lunch was in order.
I wanted to have something with an oceanview but parking was non-existent on a Saturday so lakeside lunch in Winter Haven, Florida was next up.
The view of the lake from Tanner's was good (not great) the food was good (not great) but the service staff was great (not just good)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only thing I felt bad about as I think back on the day though was I came off kinda dismissive of Georgia.
I must say I do like her books (have read many of them) and thoroughly enjoyed each one, but none have captured my fancy like The Last Lavender Sister has.
But I did spend almost all my time in conversation with Melissa even though it was really more of a three way discussion.
It wasn't as bad as this (skip to the :50 mark)
youtube
But it sure feels like it in hindsight!
My only regret in an outstanding day.

#MUSIC COLLECTOR LINUX PC#
When I rip to mp3/flac/ogg, I also generate a. That way any media player/organiser can use the tags to play things by certain artists, or from certain genres. Where the format allows it, all songs are fully tagged with artist/album/year/track number/disc number/genre and artwork. 65 Days of StaticĮach album in the artist directory is named in the following format: " album-name"Īnd then each file is organised in album order in the album directory in the following format. I also have a directory called 0 which contains artist / band names that start with numbers.
#MUSIC COLLECTOR LINUX PC#
I have all of my music in ~/Music/ for albums I listen to a lot on my pc and I have a couple of large, dedicated USB HD’s for keeping my entire digital music collection.Įach top level "Music" directory has 26 sub-directories named A.Z.Įach of those directories contains directories with artist names that begin with that letter. My music collection has been painstakingly curated and organised. I started "by hand" using the file manager and some filters, but that was too much time-consuming and looking for a solution/tool to help me to ease that task, found this just extract, place the script in /your/music/folder and run, or if you're on an 'apt' based distro such as Ubuntu or Debian, it is available in their repos, probably in others too, but I haven't checked. However, I recently finished cleaning my music collection from some corrupted files which wouldn't play anymore. The only thing I do have separated by 'topics' are my e-books, PDFs and any other kind of reading material, although I use Calibre which does a great job categorizing those too. That being said, I've too been looking for a way to better organize my stuff, but to be honest it's quite cumbersome and tiresome if you have a lot of files that you never took the time to organize in the first place. I have all my music collection in a 'Music' folder, I let the player take care of the rest genres, artist, etc. I have about a TB of mp3s, and I've quite given up on ever making it match up with my ideals.Īlso top-level with Music, you may want Books and Movies. I will be hard enough to actually take on the job of moving all the files into the new organization that you create. Just get some ideas, and give it your best shot. either under Music, or a top level equal with Music. These could fit nicely into a Genre category.
#MUSIC COLLECTOR LINUX MOVIE#
OTHER THINGS: Compilations, movie scores, comedy, spoken word, and others, I'm sure. But for me, there are too many crossover bands and musicians. This would make the band, "The The" simply "The" in my collection. My preference is totally ignore "The" in any band. Along with that, he also keeps "The" such as, Beatles, The or Grateful Dead, The. If you like that idea, go for it, but I hate it. one friend of mine thinks he's a librarian or something. This is because some systems will sort them as 1, 10, 11, 2, 3. Then, oh the many other things that go along with this that you may not expect. each file should start with Track Number to keep proper album order) My preference isĪRTIST (folder inside Music, with band name or individual artist)ĪLBUM (folders inside Artist for each album, sometimes needs 2 for double album)

When You’re Not Writing
Tumblr media
"Writing a little bit a day keeps the Writer's Block at bay."
How many times have you been told to write a little bit every single day? That, in order to truly hone our skills, we need to write Every. Single. Day. Whether it's a word, a sentence, a paragraph, or a page, we should be putting in the time to lock in our craft, shake off the rust, and build up our voice.
Is it a load of bananas? Maybe, but there is truth to it as well.
Yes, it is incredibly important to practice your writing, especially if it is something you want to take seriously, perform full time, or be successful in. You SHOULD be taking every single available opportunity to ask yourself: "How can I be better at this?"
However, do I think you should write every single day?
Yes, and no.
Well, it's complicated.
I would be a raging hypocrite if I said yes 100%.
Tumblr media
Sometimes there is just no time. You are exhausted from working a full time job, and have nothing left in the tank when you get home.
Sometimes you are fighting the world's worst flu and can hardly think around the delirious haze that's taking up residence in your brain.
Sometimes you are experiencing an unforgivable amount of Writer's Block, and can't seem to chisel your way out of it.
Excuses? Maybe. But am I human? Also maybe.
Tumblr media
The thing is, I may not literally write every day, but I try to do something writer-oriented once a day. Similar, but it's sisters, not twins, ok? Do I make aesthetic boards and playlists and call it writing? No, absolutely not. And neither should you. Don't kid yourself — it's not.
If you are experiencing a period of time in which writing is simply not possible, then you've come to the right place! I have a couple tricks up my sleeve that might help you out. You're welcome.
So, without further ado, here are my top five tips on what you can be doing when you aren't writing:
1. Read
Your WIP. Your outline. That book you've been saving for a rainy day. Your friend's short story. The options are endless. I find that, more often than not, reading is a fantastical way to get the creative juices flowing, and I'm typically itching to start writing afterwards.
You can also take this non-writing opportunity to look at other authors within your genre. What does their writing voice sound like? How does their book blurb look? What does their, "About The Author" segment say? What works? What doesn't? Get ideas and inspiration for your own novel.
Slow your roll. I'm not saying copy and paste. That's both wrong and illegal. But it is ok to do research — especially within your genre.
Reading is a great way to restore your creativity, while still stimulating your brain. 10/10 recommend.
If you don't like to read...then that's real sad, and I feel sorry for you. Annnnnd I guess move on to tip #2?
Tumblr media
2) Give Your WIP Some TLC
Focus on other aspects of your WIP. Is your research up to date? Are your characters fleshed out? Does your outline set out a clear path for you?
It's easy to feel stuck if you don't have proper direction, and more often than not, feeling lost is mainly due to lack of preparedness. Research might help with that!
However, sometimes research isn't the problem. Sometimes working on the same WIP for hours upon hours is draining, and handling the same characters, the same setting, the same problems, stops being fun. That plot bunny you've been side-eyeing is starting to look reallllly nice, and you are just itching for something new, something exciting, something fresh!
If you feel that working on your WIP is going to do nothing but cause you to harbor resentment and ultimately damage your progress, then I recommend sticking with loving from a distance with TLC.
Forms of TLC include:
- Searching for character inspiration/art/aesthetics
- Creating playlists for your characters
- Making character/WIP aesthetic boards
- Adding depth to your world (online outlines can help with this!)
- Participating in daily writing prompts and using your characters. The change of pace might be nice!
Sometimes you simply need a break, and sometimes you need to look at your WIP in another light to give it some life.
Tumblr media
(⬆️ the love letter you should be giving your WIP)
3) Take a Course, Watch a Video, Make a Friend
The internet is your friend. As competitive and cutthroat as the world is, not everyone is out to get you. Writers are known to support their young, not eat them. If you are feeling stuck in your WIP, reach out! Find a writing friend, be each other's sound board, confidante, shoulder to cry on — you get the picture.
Maybe some outside eyes will help solve the plot problem you've been battling for ages, or maybe they will spot a hole you had not previously considered (crummy, but also good!).
If you aren't sure where to find new members of your team, don't worry! I got you:
- Twitter
- Instagram
- Youtube
- Goodreads
- Tiktok
- Facebook groups
- Tumblr...obviously
The writing world online is a very saturated niche. While this is a bit of a bummer when it comes to building an online presence and getting your voice out there, the plus side is that there are resources for you:
- Youtube
- Skillshare
- Masterclass
- Reedsy
Some of these require precious pennies, but trust me — the knowledge and tips that some authors have to offer are gold. Many offer free trials to see if you like the class, as well.
Make sure to look beyond the internet, too. Look to see if your home area hosts any writing courses. If you are situated in a larger city, chances are your university or community college hosts the occasional writing seminar or workshop. There might even be a writing group that you can glomp onto. Step out of your comfort zone and see what works for you!
Tumblr media
4) Do Something Else Creative
Did you have any other loves or hobbies before writing took over and dictated your every move? Any previous passions that give you life?
You are allowed to have multiple interests. It doesn't have to be All Or Nothing when it comes to writing. Yes, you should take writing seriously (especially if it is your full-time job, or a side hustle you are building towards a career), but you are allowed to have outlets that will replenish you.
- Exercise
- Playing a musical instrument
- Tuning into another form of writing — poetry, journaling, daily prompts, etc.
- Trying your hand at knitting, or drawing, or cooking
- Doing craft DIY's that end up costing more than buying the thing you're creating, but hey — you're making memories!
For me, I used to love playing roller derby. I also swam. Both are great ways to blow off steam and pent up energy.
Your creativity is like a sponge — if you aren't careful, it can dry out, leaving you with nothing but a cracked and brittle lump. Nothing good can come from a lump, trust me. You need to have something else in your life that will feed the sponge, keep it soft and squishy, or completely replenish it in desperate times when you weren't paying attention and it got a little crusty.
Unless you are one of the lucky ducks that actually receives restoration while writing, chances are you need something else to keep you sane...and moist.
Tumblr media
5) RELAX
Maybe you are stuck with a healthy serving of Writer's Block and procrastinating. OR maybe this is your brain telling you: "For the love of God please stop! I need a break!"
It could be as simple as this: You are burnt out. You need a break.
Sometimes we don't know how to say no. When don't know how much work is too much work.
And then its too late. The sponge is dry. And you can't get out of bed.
Humans are proud by nature, and it is sometimes really hard for us to admit that we need to take a breather. Unless you are in a challenge like NaNoWriMo, or on a deadline time crunch, IT IS OK to stop. Rest. Put your feet up. Take that bubble bath you've been postponing because, “just one more sentence.” Watch that movie that came out over a year ago but you've held off watching because, “I'm so close!”
Stop. It's ok to stop.
As weird as it is to think, you do NOT have to be a slave to your writing. Breaks are healthy to both your soul, and your creativity. If anything, if you allow yourself that moment to rest, you'll find yourself EXCITED to return to your WIP, refreshed and looking at it in another light, ready to get to work.
You also might find yourself going on a month long hiatus. But that's another issue for another time. The line between procrastination and discipline is a tightrope, my friend.
Tumblr media
And there you have it! An assortment of tips for when you aren't writing.
Writing does have to always be blood, sweat, and tears. It can be fun, exhilarating, and intense. It can also be downright exhausting.
So, do I think you need to write every day?
No.
Do I think it's a good idea to try and do something writer-oriented at least once a day?
For sure.
Do I think you should set healthy boundaries and know when to take breaks, or take a step back?
Yep.
No one is chaining you to your desk — unless it's a kink...then you do you.
Tumblr media
Be sure to tune in every Writerly Wednesday for new writer posts!
Come for the tips.
Stay for the awkward.
Until then,
May your inspiration never cease, and may your ink never smudge.

characters: Yoongi x OC!Sohyun and Hana [ft. Yuna and Hoseok, mentions Huimang, Hana’s friends, and Taehyung(the group as well)]
genre: family and fluff
request: [anon] Hi there! My suggestion for the drabble series is maybe Hana puts down getting a baby brother/sister on her birthday wish list, and neither she nor Yoongi knows that Sohyun is already pregnant, so Sohyun gets to surprise her husband and daughter? 💛
a/n: hana is turning eight here (WEIRD.) i know it’s a big age gap, but she turned four in daddy diaries and she was seven by the end of the tmbmil series asdfghjkl this is assuming jungkook and rina got married right after taeyang was born and yoongi proposed right after their wedding and then got married in a few months and then hana’s birthday rolls around after and sohyun is already pregnant by then : D also my sister and i are seven years apart so it’s not tHaT bad~
➳➳➳➳➳➳➳
Hana’s birthday was nearing and it was always a special time for the couple.
Not only is it almost their daughter’s special day, but also the anniversary of the first time they met and the anniversary of the bakery’s opening.
Hana was only three when she came crashing into the grand opening of 24/7 Heaven, meeting Sohyun for the very first time. She was looking for the perfect birthday cake then. Now, four years later, the bakery owner became Hana’s mom and the wife of her dad. Yoongi and Sohyun got married not too long ago.
He proposed to her in the most perfect way actually.
A cake, made by him and Hana, with the words ‘will you marry me’ written on top.
So it was a special time. It’s their first meet-aversary as a married couple. The bakery was having an event for it’s fourth birthday. And of course, it was the start of getting Hana’s wishlist checked off.
As always, she had the general wishes.
As she got older, they started to change more and more.
“Have you done your list yet?” Yoongi asks his daughter, peeking into her room. Hana scrambles out of her bed, where she was reading a book, and goes over to her desk.
“I finished it last night, I forgot to give it to you,” she said, pulling out the list from under her other books. “Here you go daddy. Do you and mommy need any help for the bakery’s fourth birthday by the way?” Yoongi was happy to know that as she grew up, she got sweeter and sweeter.
Maybe it’s the effects of being in a bakery almost 24/7.
“Yes, mommy and I will need help later, but we’ll call you out then. For now, mommy and I will be looking at this,” he says, holding the list up. Hana smiles up at her dad, giving him an ‘okay’ sign.
Yoongi turns and walks out the door, already scanning the list.
“Why do you have that look on your face?” Sohyun asks her husband, watching him frown at Hana’s wishlist. Sohyun was on her laptop on the couch, ordering last minute party supplies for Hana’s birthday.
“She wants to invite boys from her class,” Yoongi says, looking up at his wife who starts to laugh at him.
“Let me see,” she says, reaching out her hand for the paper. Yoongi hands it to her as he sits next to her.
“It says: invite friends.” She turns to Yoongi with one eyebrow raised. “It didn’t specify whether it was all girls, all boys, or both.”
“Assuming it’s both, I’m sure her boyfriend is in there. She wouldn’t just write ‘invite Taeoh’,” he huffs.
“Even if it did, you’d still invite him because it’s on your princess’ wishlist,” Sohyun says, knowing she was right.
“I guess. Let’s look through it and see if we can get some done today. I’ll ask her for the names and make the invitations later.”
“Sounds good. Now let’s see,” Sohyun says, humming as she goes down the list. “Typical Hana, a lot of this is her general wishes. Party, perfect cake, all her friends and family~”
“There’s a back side!” Hana yells from her room. Both her parents look up, turning the paper around and their eyes widen.
“Baby brother (or sister! That’s okay too)”
“Hmm,” Yoongi says. “Well that’s a hard one.” Sohyun laughs nervously.
Little did they know.
That’s already one check done off of the list.
It wasn’t too long ago that Sohyun found out that she was expecting. She figured that it would be perfect to announce it to both Yoongi and Hana on the night of her birthday. Once everyone’s gone and right when Hana thinks the presents have stopped coming.
- hana’s birthday -
“Is that the kid?” Hoseok asks, watching a little boy hand Hana a gift. Yoongi glares at them.
“Mhm,” he says.
“Thank you Taeoh,” Hana says, taking the gift her friend was giving her. Boyfriend as Yoongi says.
Hoseok laughs at his hyung, but that smile quickly drops when he sees his own daughter standing next to her boyfriend. Huimang and Hana take taekwondo together and share the same friends. Which is why her ‘boyfriend’ was also at Hana’s party.
“You boys okay?” Sohyun asks, raising an eyebrow at the two. They both look away from their daughters.
“Fine, why do you ask?” Yoongi says, giving her a close lip smile. Sohyun laughs at the both of them, turning to look at their daughters.
“They’re just kids, don’t worry,” she says. “It’s just a baby crush.”
“Speaking of babies,” Hoseok says, suddenly remembering what Yoongi had told the boys previously. He mentioned to them about Hana’s birthday wishlist. About how this might be the first year he fails giving her everything.
Well, until the boys reminded him that four years ago when Hana wrote mommy on her list and he ended up breaking up with Sohyun.
That was something.
“What are you two telling Hana,” Hoseok says with a small laugh. “Should’ve told her to give you the wishlist 9 months ago.”
Yoongi sighs. “I know, I should’ve expected it. She’s been asking for one for so long.”
“I’m sure she’ll be understanding,” Sohyun says, trying hard to conceal her smile. She was pretty excited for the party to be over so she can spend some quality time with her family.
-
“Hey!” Yuna calls, rushing over to Sohyun and giving her a hug. “You’re telling them today, right?” She whispers, glancing down at her stomach. Yuna knew about Sohyun being pregnant.
Actually, all the girls did.
Only because Sohyun threw up at their mommy hangout and the girls had a feeling and told her to take a pregnancy test.
It was Sohyun’s first test and she was nervous. So of course the girls all helped her out and taught her how to use one. It ended with all of them screaming three minutes later and Sohyun sobbing with tears of joy.
“Yes, tonight right before her birthday ends,” Sohyun answers. “I’m like 95% excited and 5% nervous.”
“Ah!! I’m so excited, tell us everything after,” Yuna says, holding onto Sohyun's arms tightly. Sohyun laughs, nodding her head.
“I will, definitely.”
-
“So, did you enjoy your birthday?” Yoongi asks Hana, laying in her bed. No matter how old she turns, Yoongi promised to give her birthday cuddles before she slept. Hana cuddles into her dad’s side.
“Yeah, it was fun,” Hana says sleepily. It was nearing midnight, just about 10 minutes before. The group had stayed longer than everyone else (of course). Hana played with her cousins and was given extra hugs and kisses from her aunt and uncles before they left. Even Taehyung was crying, not wanting to let her go because, in his exact words: ‘Aigoo, you guys growing up is making me feel so old, I'm so sad. How are you already eight?’
“I’m sorry we didn’t get to check off everything on your list,” Yoongi tells her, rubbing her arm. He hugged her tightly, pressing his cheek to her head. As much as he just wanted to fulfill all of her wishes, he wanted Hana to have a sibling as much as she wanted one.
“It’s okay, I still loved everything you gave me. I’d be happy with anything,” Hana tells him, looking up at her dad with a smile on her face. Yoongi pouts, raising his hand up to caress her cheeks.
“How are you the sweetest girl ever?”
“Knock knock,” Sohyun says, peeking her head into the room. “Can I join?” The two smile up at her, motioning for her to come in. Sohyun reveals herself,  holding a cupcake with a lit candle on top.
“Oh?” Hana says, sitting up in surprise. She smiles widely as she stares at the cupcake.
“Another candle to blow?” Yoongi asks. His wife nods, careful sitting beside her daughter.
“Your birthday ends in like 5 minutes. Is there one thing you really wanted today that you didn’t get?” Sohyun asks Hana. She knew what wish she would make. Hana looks up at her and nods.
“Okay make the wish then,” Sohyun says. Hana closes her eyes, intertwining her fingers in front of her.
She whispers quietly.
“I wish I could have a little brother or sister.”
It was just loud enough for her parents to hear. Yoongi looks up at Sohyun as Hana blows the candle.
“Done?” Sohyun asks. Hana nods and Sohyun puts the cupcake on her side table, turning back to her two loves.
“So that completes everything from the list right?” Sohyun says, looking back at the two. Both Yoongi and Hana looked at her confused.
“Oh didn’t I tell you two?” Sohyun says with a smile that she could no longer contain. “I’m pregnant.”
Yoongi’s eyes grew big and Hana smiled so wide, her cheeks turned pink.
“Mommy you’re pregnant?” Hana repeats, putting her hand gently on her mom’s tummy. Sohyun nods, putting her hand over hers. She looks up at Yoongi and laughs.
“Are you okay, hun?” She says, reaching out and pushing his hair back.
Yoongi’s face broke into a smile.
“Are you serious? Are you really pregnant?” Yoongi asks, hesitantly putting his hand on her tummy as well.
“Yeah, I found out about three weeks ago,” Sohyun laughs. “I figured I’d surprise you two before midnight.”
“You did it, you completed my wishes,” Hana laughs, leaning onto her mom and hugging her tightly. Yoongi couldn’t stop smiling as he joined in the hug, wrapping his arms tightly around his two girls.
At that moment, the clock struck 12 and Hana’s birthday was over.
They couldn’t help but think that at this time, next year, there'll be another person included in this hug.

This Summer ~ KSJ [Request]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WORD COUNT: 3.3K
PAIRING: Seokjin x GN!Reader
GENRE: Fluffy, age gap, happy ending, first kiss, first date, cute
Tumblr media
This summer was just supposed to be like all of the others that you'd had in Seoul, every summer since you were 18 you'd been coming to South Korea to visit your old Nanny - Areum. She'd moved back to Seoul once she no longer had to care for you but you'd grown attached to her, she'd helped raise you so it was normal to grow an attachment to someone you loved.
"How was your flight?" She questioned, wrapping her arms around your body as though you were her grandchild and giving you a tight squeeze.
"Long, I missed you," You told her as she began to try and carry your bags, not that you would ever allow her. She was getting far too old to care for you it should have been the other way around now which was why you were attempting to move to Korea to become her full-time carer. She didn't have much family and you wanted to make sure she wasn't going to strain herself too much. Being 21 now meant that you could legally make large decisions like this one for yourself and moving to Korea had been one of your biggest dreams in life.
"I missed you too, how long are you staying this time?" You hadn't told her about your plan to move to Korea just in case that never happened, it was all about getting the paper worked approved by people and so far everything was going well. Normally when you would come for the summer it would be two or three weeks at the most, this time you hadn't booked a returning flight just in case.
"I'm not sure," You lied as you began walking through the airport together, telling her about your flight and layover that had happened, giving her gossip on the people on your flight. She was always an avid one for gossip ever since you were in High school. She would always sit with you in the kitchen while you did your homework or had something to eat, listening to you talk about what was happening in the school halls.
"I hope you don't mind but a friend of mine is driving us back, I think I mentioned him in our emails," You thought back on all of the emails you'd been exchanging recently and nodded your head. Jin. She said he'd been visiting her cafe a lot and that they'd grown a bond just like yours and hers over a short amount of time. It was nice to hear that it wasn't just you that seemed to get along well with Areum, she was one of the kindest people in the world and everyone seemed to love her.
"That's fine, I remember him, Jin right?" You remembered she mentioned that he sang a lot but not much else. Only that when he came into the store business began picking up and she put it down to how handsome he was, everyone seemed to want to get a close look at him, some of them even taking photos with him which seemed odd to her.
"Yes! He said he would give me a ride since I lost my licence and I told him how I didn't want you catching a ride home alone with some strange taxi driver," You frowned at the mention of her losing her licence she hadn't told you that in any emails and it only made you worry that something bad had happened she had neglected to tell you about.
"What happened?" She rolled her eyes at the question as if she was sick of answering it,
"My eyes, they're not deemed for the road," She mumbled as though she didn't believe it but you did, you knew how terrible her eyesight had been all of these years but she'd had glasses for a long time.
"They're as good as they've ever been-" She stopped when you pulled her back to prevent her from getting hit by one of the small transit vans that roamed the airport.
"Maybe not," She grumbled, thanking you for saving her while you laughed softly. You were glad you'd come when things seemed to be going okay for her and that you could look after her properly.
"I locked up the cafe for the afternoon, I thought we could order some food and then you can get some rest. I know jetlag can get to you a little," It sounded as though it would be the perfect evening after the 14-hour flight you'd had and you nodded in agreement with her, eager to see the Cafe you were used to working in every summer with her. It was one of the cutest cafe's you'd had the pleasure of working in. A small two-floor cafe with an open roof. The top floor was half balcony, perfect in the summer when you wanted to sit and have a nice drink while watching the people of Seoul.
"Sounds like the best idea," You smiled, humming at the food ideas she was throwing at you, telling you everything she had planned for your visit. Honestly, you were just excited to eat anything that wasn't your home food. You loved Korean food and she knew that which was why whenever you came she tried to cook as much as she could for you. Creating her own mochi, Kimchi and making sure the fridges were always stocked with food for you to eat whenever you wanted to.
"I'll cook us something tomorrow. Jin will be joining us tomorrow night," You nodded and followed her out and over to a black SUV that was waiting for you in a parking spot, the door opened and a guy jumped out from the seat.
"Hey, you must be Y/n." You looked up at the guy that had jumped out of the car and noticed that he was wearing sunglasses and a mask so you couldn't tell if he was as handsome as Areum had mentioned but you nodded your head at him.
"Jin?" You questioned, sticking out your hand for him to shake. He shook your hand and helped you load your bags into the back of the car while Areum smiled to herself from inside of the car, looking at you in the mirror as the both of you interacted with one another.
"She was your nanny, right? She's told me so many stories." You felt your body heat up at the thought of her telling him horror stories from when you were growing up. She had so many to choose from, not all of them as horrible you maybe thought they were but Areum loved to embarrass you.
"Nothing bad, don't worry. All good things," He chuckled as he shut the boot of his car, pulling down the sunglasses to the tip of his nose to wink at your playfully. Your heart stopped beating for a second as you realised who he was and why he was in a brand new car, hiding his identity.
"I have seen some baby photos too, she loves you." You remembered all of the photographs she had of you and you whined at the thought of it,
"I loved the video of you dancing around the kitchen when you were eight, so cute." You ignored him as he continued to playfully tease you until you got into the car trying to calm down as you realised the Jin that Areum had been telling you about in her emails was Kim Seokjin from BTS. One of the bands you'd loved listening to when you were growing up, not to mention how you'd learnt a lot of your Korean from both the boys and Areum. Had she no idea he was Jin from BTS?
Tumblr media
After Jimin helped you and Areum into the apartment next to the cafe he left to go home, saying he had something to do but that he would be back to see you both tomorrow.
"I told you he was handsome," She chuckled at you as she came up behind you to see you were looking at images of him on your phone, you didn't know if you were supposed to tell her or if you were supposed to tell him that you knew.
"Very," You laughed softly, locking your phone and joining her in the living room for the food she'd ordered for the two of you. There was enough there to feed you both five times over so you knew you would be taking some to the cafe for lunch the next day.
Tumblr media
A couple of weeks after working in the cafe you and Jin had grown a close friendship with one another, you'd told him you knew who he was but that you would keep it secret from Areum who seemed to be clueless on the fact and he thanked you for it. Telling you that he enjoyed going to the cafe as it was only small and very few people knew who he was and if they did, it never got out that he was there.
"You put too much rice on, watch," Jin chuckled as he came up behind you, the two of you were making Kimbap in the kitchen together. Trying to put together a nice picnic lunch for later that day with Areum. Jin wrapped his arms around you from behind and made sure you were watching him as he created the perfect wrap, taking your hands in his as he rolled the seaweed and got you to cut it with him.
"See, now it's not falling apart." You nodded anxiously at him as you looked up at him, both of you staring at one another in silence. Over the course of getting to know one another, you'd grown close with him, closer than you could ever imagine being with someone like him. Someone famous that was.
"You're an excellent teacher," You whispered as he continued to stare down at you, the room falling into a comfortable silence. Jin looked at you as he thought about leaning down and kissing you, his heart pounding as he looked at your lips and then to your eyes. Over the time of getting to know you, he'd gotten attached to you, realising there was something more between you than just your casual friendship between two people but there was one problem. Besides him being who he was, you were seven years younger than him and sure Age was just a number but it was different to him. All he could think about was that when he was 17, you would have been 10 and so on and so forth. All of the different ages seemed to wrong even if it was just a short period of time apart. You were both legally adults now he shouldn't have anything to fear.
"I-I should go, I'm meeting the boys at the studio," He moved away from you, scratching the base of his neck awkwardly as he tried not to overthink the almost kiss.
"Yeah, sure." You watched him leaving as you bit down on your lip, you felt so strongly to him but you were trying to ignore the feelings you got whenever you were around him. There was too much of an age difference between the two of you, not to mention that he was Kim Seokjin, Mr Wolrdwide handsome. You felt as though you didn't stand a chance as you fell for him but it didn't stop your heart from racing whenever he was around you, your heart from thumping whenever he texts you or spoke to you. It was like he had some kind of unspoken advantage over you as if he could control your body without even realizing it,
"I know that look," Areum said as she came into the back, putting trays into the dishwasher as she watched you closely smirking as she realised her plan was going well. She had known you long enough to know who was right for you and after getting to know Jin on a deeper level he was perfect for you.
"What look?" You laughed it off, trying to act as though you didn't know what she was talking about but she cupped your face in her hands,
"You're forgetting I helped raise you...I know what that look is and that look is you hooked on a boy," She ran her thumb along your cheek bone, smiling to herself as your cheeks began to physically heat up against her skin.
"N-No! That's- Why would I- I don't even know him," You tried to get out but you stumbled over your words further proving to her that you had in fact, had a crush on Jin but it was stupid. There was nothing that could be done about it since he was famous and you were nobody in comparison.
"It's not as if he would like me back," You mumbled only to get hit around the back of the head by a tray that Areum had picked up,
"Don't feel sorry for yourself! Why wouldn't he like you back?!" Areum began to rant about all of the things she seemed to like about you, telling you all of your amazing qualities but telling you some of your bad ones so you didn't become too humble over them.
"But you've seen him, you've been around him, there is no way he would like me back." You sighed to yourself at the mere thought of Jin feeling the same way you felt for him. There wasn't a chance.
Tumblr media
As time passed you got approved for your stay in Korea, explaining that Areum that you would like to live with her until you can find a suitable apartment not that she would let you. Telling you that you would live with her if she was the main reason for you moving to Korea.
"Areum?" You called out as you headed into the cafe late one night, she'd sent you a cryptic message asking you for your help in the cafe when it was way past closing time and pitch black inside the cafe.
"If this is a joke I might move back home," You laughed as you walked further into the cafe looking around with your phone flashlight.
"What are you doing?!" A voice asked out of no where making you scream out in surprise and jump as you spotted Jin staring at you from behind the counter.
"Looking for Areum! What are you doing here?!" You yelled, holding your hand on your chest trying to calm your heart rate down but it wasn't working.
"Looking for Areum, she sent me-"
"A text, telling you she needed help?" You asked as you showed him the same exact text message that he had from her only to hear the door to the cafe shut and lock before looking to see Areum staring at you through the glass pannel.
"She's crafty," Jin laughed before Areum walked away without saying or doing anything as to let you know when you were going to be allowed out. You knew what she was doing, she'd told you she had a plan to get you and Jin alone together for a while but then nothing happened. You assumed she'd forgotten all about it and moved on with things but looking back on it now you were wrong.
"Here, look-" Jin pulled you towards the back of the cafe to look into the kitchen, there was a picnic blanket laid out on the floor with some candles and fairy lights sitting around it. The old lady had conned you into going on a date with Jin, you looked up at him anxiously wondering if he had any idea what was going out but if he did he was doing well to hide it.
"Come on, she obviously wanted us to enjoy the food together," He nudged, taking your hand and walking through the door. The feeling of his hand on yours made your heart skip as you realised he was holding you so close to him and Jin smiled to himself enjoying the feeling of holding you. He'd been overthinking everything so much about you lately, telling Areum how much he cared for you but that he was worried for anything to happen between you. He didn't want something to happen between the two of you only for it to go sour and end his friendship with Areum but she told him how much of an idiot he was being and gave him a speech about how perfect you would be for one another. He never would have thought she'd do something like this in order for the two of you to come together one night.
"She made our favourites," He chuckled setting you down on the blanket next to him as he looked into the basket, spotting each of your favourite foods, including Kimbap which you remembered making with him.
"Tell me about what she was like when she used to care for you, she tells me stories all of the time but I want to hear them from you," He said as he poured you both a glass of wine then a shot of Soju, looking at you as you thought back on all of the wonderful memories you had with Areum.
"She took me to the fair once but I didn't tell her how scared of heights I was until we were at the top of a Ferris wheel and she gave me this large speech...By the end of it I realised she was just talking nonsense so I wouldn't look down at how high we were," You smiled at the memory,
"Then there was this time I liked someone and I didn't think they would like me back...I told her about it and she went on this large rant - after hitting me with a tray - about how great I was and how I shouldn't let something hold the feelings back no matter what it was," That was when it hit Jin. That you liked him the same way that he liked you and that you had both gone to Areum for advice on the matter.
"I did the same thing. There's this person that I like, they're one of the sweetest people in the world but there's an issue...It seems insignificant now," Your heart fell at the mention of him liking someone else but you nodded along with him, trying to stay happy for him as much as you could since you didn't own him and he had no idea how you felt for him.
"There's an age gap before it was weighing me down, stopping me from asking them out on a date but Areum did the unthinkable...Created a set up for us both to come on a date without realising it was a date," Your heart began to pump faster as you realised he was talking about the both of you, looking at him and smiling brightly.
"I didn't want to ask you out, I was afraid the age thing might freak you out and then I didn't know if you were heading home soon...As soon as you said you were moving to Korea it was another sign I should have asked you out," His ears were turning red as was his face as he admitted all of this to you,
"I'll ask you out on a real date...Somewhere we can be alone and not recorded on the CCTV by your boss," He chuckled as he moved closer to you,
"I'd like that," You whispered back to him, leaning up to give him a quick kiss on the lips before drinking from your glass.
Areum smiled to herself as she looked at you both through the screen, knowing that her match making skills were still being put to good use even in her old age.

Selfish - Part 16

Genre: angst, fluff
Pairing: Jun x Reader / Chan x Reader
Word Count: 4.4k
Summary: You love them both and you’re torn. But…what if you didn’t have to choose?
You felt like Chan was avoiding you and you didn’t know why. He ended up changing his flight and staying in Jeju for an extra day, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family. You understood but it felt a little out of the blue. So you flew back to Seoul with Jun.
It’d been a week since you’d been back and you barely saw Chan. You’d eaten at a restaurant for dinner and he declined your invitation to sleep over at your house. He said that he had work to do but he’d never declined one of your invitations and, in the past, having to do work never stopped him from coming over. If anything, he’d just bring his laptop and books with him, at least wanting to be in your presence. But you didn’t want to complain or come off as petty over this. Chan must’ve just wanted more alone time. Maybe he was stressed about work or school or both. But part of you felt hurt because, normally, he’d always come to you during those times. Something changed but you weren’t sure what.
You weren’t going to lie, you’d been in a weird mood since. You hated feeling like he was mad at you or something. So, Jun suffered a bit too. And you felt bad that you couldn’t give him your all. And he knew that there was something off with you. The trip you thought was supposed to be relaxing ended up not being as relaxing as you would’ve hoped, especially given that Chan had joined unexpectedly. You supposed that it caused a little turbulence in your lives. Maybe you shouldn’t have said anything, you wondered. Maybe you should’ve just kept the trip as one with Jun. But, then again, it seemed like everyone had a good time. And you knew that Chan wasn’t there the whole time but you also knew he hadn’t seen his family in a while. It was hard to tell how everyone felt truly. Was this all just a facade?
It was nine o’clock and you knew that Chan was working at the cafe tonight. You figured you’d just show up with chocolate covered strawberries and hope that you could convince him to let you sleep over. You missed him and you missed falling asleep in his arms.
As you walked toward the cafe, you could see him through the window. There weren’t any customers at this point. He was wiping down the tables, from what you could see. And he looked handsome while doing it. He looked concentrated, his eyebrows furrowed the same way they did when he was frustrated or thinking. When you knocked on the glass, you could tell that he wasn’t expecting you. He took out his Airpods, surprised. He opened the door, letting you in before locking it again. “What are you doing here?” he asked, little to no emotion in his tone.
“I miss you,” you said, a little taken aback by his tone, or lack thereof, “and I wanted to see you. I feel like you’ve been avoiding me…”
Chan turned around, heading back toward the table he was cleaning. “You could’ve called me.”
“I wanted to surprise you...but it doesn’t seem like you’re happy to see me so maybe I’ll just go…” You took the box of chocolate covered strawberries out of your bag, placing it on the table. “Enjoy them.” You turned on your heel to leave and, just before you got to the lock, Chan’s hand was wrapped around your arm.
“Don’t go.”
Tears were starting to build up in your eyes. Chan was usually the one that always greeted you warmly, the one that always showered you with love and affection, the one who always seemed to know what you needed no matter the time or place. You bit your lip, trying to hold back the tears.
“Baby,” Chan said, frowning at the sight of you tearing up. “Please, I’m sorry…I’ve just been in this weird space lately. I don’t mean to take it out on you...”
You raised your brows. “What do you mean?”
“There’s just…something that happened to me recently that made me rethink things.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“No, it’s okay. I’ll be fine.”
You shook your head. “You’re the happiest person I know…and I know when you’re not being honest with me.”
Chan looked down. “I know. I just…don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Does what happened have something to do with something I did?”
He shook his head. “No, no, it’s not that…''
To be honest, Chan was tired of keeping this secret. It was hardly his to be carrying on his shoulders like this. This was all Jun’s fault. Why was he the one to be suffering when Jun was the one living stress-free? Why was it that he was still protecting Jun like this? Chan was the one who was done dirty and he was sick of putting everyone else first. Even if you were hurt by this information, you deserved to know the truth and to not sleep next to someone who hadn’t been completely honest with you.
“So what is it, then?”
“I want to close up first. I’ll be done in five. We can talk as soon as I close the cafe.”
And within those few minutes, your mind started racing. You didn’t have the slightest clue what Chan wanted to talk about. It seemed like he was going through something and, on top of that, he’d even distanced himself from you. Did what he was going through have to do with something you did?
Chan closed up the cafe and locked the doors. “Okay, let’s go.” You started walking toward Chan’s building, which was about a ten minute walk from the cafe.
As you started walking around the corner, Chan said, “I haven’t been completely honest with you…” You bit your lip, expecting the worst. “Remember when I said I had family stuff to deal with in Jeju?” You nodded, unsure of where this conversation was heading. “That wasn’t true.”
“So why did you leave? I thought you were having a good time…”
“Well you know we’d all been drinking. Jun had been drinking the most and I saw that when he went over to the bar by himself. I went over to bring him back over to the dance floor with us while you were in the bathroom. He said some things that made me uncomfortable even though I was doing my best to be friendly and include him in everything…” Chan let out a sigh. “He implied that the only reason he agreed to me coming on the trip was to make you happy. He basically didn’t want me there. He got angry and told me that I’m your favorite and that he never gets time alone with you, which is ridiculous. The part that made me upset was the fact that he basically lied and put on this pretend act. If he wasn’t okay with it, he could’ve just been honest and said no. I-I don’t know how to feel. I can see him trying to push me out. I had to leave because I didn’t want to ruin the trip, so I kept my distance and let him have his time with you...which, I guess, was his plan. And it worked.”
Tears had been building up in Chan’s eyes as he told the story. He’d kept a lot of it in up until now and, honestly speaking, it felt nice to be able to be honest with you. He hated the situation that he was in. He felt more secure about being in this polyamorous relation ship with you and Jun but Jun didn’t seem to be okay with it at all. And it hurt him because he felt like Jun had basically pretended to be cordial with him. Chan wondered what you saw in him. What Jun did just seemed so...evil. Was Jun finally showing his true colors? Would you forgive him yet again?
You stopped him to pull him into a hug. “I...I didn’t know…”
“It’s not your fault. You didn’t do anything wrong, babe.” Those words were comforting and, with them, came a few tears. You could hear it. “Thank you for telling me...and for trying to protect me. You don’t have to hide things like that from me, I promise. I love you so much, Chan…”
He pulled away from you and you wiped his tears with your thumbs. He smiled and said, “I love you, too, Y/N…”

You left Chan’s house in the morning feeling a little confused and, by the time work was over, you still felt frustrated. You didn’t know what to think of the situation with Jun. It seemed like there was some turbulence in the relationship and you weren’t sure what to do next. Of course, you needed to bring this up with Jun. You couldn’t sit back and let this simmer on the back burner.
You opened the door to the nail salon. Na-Ri was there a little early, waiting for you. “Well, well, well, look who it is...The person I’ve hardly heard from since you got back.”
“Sorry,” you said, chuckling. “Things have been kinda crazy.”
The two of you checked in for your nail appointments and headed to the back of the salon to get your pedicures done. When you got settled and dipped your feet in the warm water, you turned to Na-Ri. “You won’t believe what I just found out...”
Na-Ri looked over, putting her phone down. “What’s up?”
“Remember when I said we went to dinner that first night in Jeju? The three of us? Well, everything was fine up until we went to dinner. That’s when things started getting a little weird. Actually, no, things were a little weird before that but I didn’t put two and two together at the time…I think it started when Jun fell asleep at the hotel. Me and Chan stayed up for a little bit and then we fell asleep, too. When I woke up Jun was gone and I think he might’ve been feeling jealous that me and Chan fell asleep together. Then he just got really...drunk at dinner. If we had ordered another bottle of wine, I don’t think Jun would’ve made it to the bar.”
You continued your story as you flipped through the catalog to decide on what colors you wanted. “I always try to make sure I spend enough time with both of them. Next thing I know, I go to the bathroom and then when I come back, Chan is telling me he has family issues to go and take care of and that I should stay with Jun. At the time I thought it was kind of weird and random but, at the same time, it could’ve been true so I believed it. In the past, his dad collapsed from overworking, so it was believable. Anyway, I went back to the hotel with Jun and he just acted like everything was normal after that.”
Before you could continue, Na-Ri stopped you. “Did Chan invite himself on the trip?”
“Not exactly. I was talking to him and I told him what we were doing. I guess he kind of implied that it sounded like fun and he wanted to go. So I asked Jun about it...and that’s when the lie started...I asked if Chan could come with us because I thought that it would be a good idea for us to bond. And it was supposed to be Chan’s weekend with me so I felt bad. Anyway, Jun said it was fine and that it was okay. If he didn’t want him to come, he could’ve just said no…”
Na-Ri said, “What the hell? Where’s the communication?”
“Exactly…”
“Have you talked to Jun about any of this?”
You shook your head. “I just found out last night.”
“Good luck. I don't know how you do it. One man is enough problems for me.”
You chuckled. “I don’t know how I do it either…”
“Maybe it was too soon to try this kind of relationship...”
You let out a deep sigh. “We’ve been doing this for months...I don’t know how much longer he could possibly need.”
“Well if you think about it, you haven't really done anything together, with just the three of you. So maybe it was a bit much to go on a trip together. I think it’s something you have to ease into. Like going on dates together, to the movies, to the amusement park, and stuff like that. Cause it seemed like everything between them was pretty much fine–well, neutral–before this. I don’t think he gets jealous until Chan is physically there...and, I mean, that’s not good either.”
“Yeah, you’re right. We’ll have to work on that if this is going to work.”
“Yeah, it’s the next step in the relationship. You got past the beginning stages so now the next step is for them to be more comfortable around each other and to do more things together.”
Na-Ri was right. You were still angry with Jun and the fact that he hadn’t been honest with you or with Chan. Jun’s selfish actions had hurt you but, more importantly, his actions hurt Chan. From what you could see, Chan had been trying to be friends with Jun. He’d been putting in effort, only to be rejected by Jun in the end. And Chan knew that feeling all too well.
It had been months since you came up with this arrangement and Jun was acting more like a child than an adult. But you couldn’t help but feel like part of what was happening right now was your fault. Since this was your idea, you should’ve had a better plan. But you weren’t an expert and neither were Jun or Chan. Was it too much to expect this much from them?
You probably should’ve been trying to do more things together rather than keeping things separate. Keeping things separate wasn’t realistic and, obviously, it wasn’t working. The relationship was going to have to undergo some changes if there was going to be any chance of survival. You needed to figure things out but, first, you definitely needed to talk to Jun.
*
When you asked Jun if you could have dinner later, he thought nothing of it. He answered your message, of course, suggesting that you come over to cook. But, strangely enough, you declined saying that you’d rather go out to eat. It was a little surprising since you usually enjoyed making dinner together but he thought little of it. He told you to meet him at your favorite restaurant to have some Taiwanese noodle soup.
He waited for you inside, browsing the menu. He’d been here once with you but, as far as he knew, it was a place that Chan had introduced you to. Sometimes Jun couldn’t help but feel like you had more in common with Chan than you did with him. Jun pushed the thought out of his head. Those small insecure thoughts were beginning to annoy him a bit. He was starting to feel bad about the things he’d said to Chan. Maybe he shouldn’t have been so harsh. Maybe he should’ve been more mature and accepted things as they were rather than mope about the things he couldn’t change.
Was this kind of relationship for him? Was he too in over his head? Was it even meant for the two of you to be together right now, with or without Chan in the picture? He loved you, without a doubt, but sometimes he wondered if all of this was worth it. He missed when things were simple, when it was just the two of you. Before you’d even met Chan in the first place. Part of him wished he never accepted that job or went to Japan. But maybe everything that was happening to him now were things that needed to happen.
You came into the restaurant looking a little stressed, bringing Jun into a state of distress. Were you here to break up with him? Had you finally had enough of his shit? You sat down across from him and said, “Hey.”
Normally, you’d embrace him. You’d reach across the table and brush your fingers against his hands. You’d lean over for a kiss, something. But you weren’t doing that. Jun’s heart dropped. Something was definitely wrong but he wasn’t sure what.
Jun tried to lighten up the mood. “Are you okay? How was your day?”
“I’m okay. My day was decent.”
Jun nodded. “Your nails look nice,” he said, glancing at your hands. “This color looks good on you.”
“Thanks,” you said, taking a sip of water. “Look, can we talk about something serious?”
“What’s going on?”
“Chan told me everything…”
Jun looked down. Of course, he knew that he was in the wrong. Deep down, he’d known that this day was coming. How could he think a secret this big would stay a secret? He’d wanted to come clean and apologize about it, mostly to Chan because he’d done nothing wrong in the situation. In any case, Chan was merely a victim of Jun’s insecurities.
Jun didn’t say anything so you did. “If you wanted it to just be us, why lie to me? I would’ve understood.”
Jun let out a deep sigh. “I don’t have an excuse for why I did it…” He looked up at you, finally. There was so much hurt and disappointment in your eyes, he could barely stand to see it. “I just couldn't bring myself to see you disappointed so I lied and I tried to convince myself that I could do it but I couldn’t...Then it got too late to say anything, so I just tried to swallow it. And I became a person I couldn’t recognize by the end of it all…”
“You hurt me, Jun, and you hurt Chan, too…”
Jun nodded. “I know…”
You reached for his hand, taking it in yours. “It’s okay to feel these kinds of things but it’s not okay to act like that. We agreed to this relationship and for it to work, the three of us have to have some type of communication.”
Jun said, “I’m sorry…I’ll also apologize to Chan. I’ll talk to him tonight. I really am sorry, Y/N...”
You looked him in his eyes, almost as if you were staring into the deepest, most vulnerable parts of him. “I need to know if you’re all in.”
Jun squeezed your hand in his. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t afraid of losing you. But he nodded, continuing on through these unknown waters.
*
After dinner, you went home despite Jun’s suggestion of coming over. He understood and he wanted to give you your space but he couldn’t help but feel like there was suddenly this giant rift in your relationship. It was his fault, he knew. But he missed you. He missed the way things were, just before the trip. So much had changed and it’d only been about a week. One of the ways he usually made himself feel better was to find comfort in your arms. When he had a hard day, he’d go over to your place or you’d come to his. And you’d hold him in your arms, running your fingers through his hair. But again, that wasn’t an option for him right now.
He knew he needed to apologize to Chan soon. If he didn’t apologize soon, he’d lose the nerve to do it and you’d be more disappointed in him than you already were. He took out his phone and called Chan, anxiety filling his chest. It rang five times and, just when he thought that maybe he should just hang up and forget it all, Chan answered.
“Hello?”
“Hey, I was wondering if you had time to talk.”
Though Jun couldn’t see him physically, Chan was rolling his eyes on the other end. “Sure. Do you mean over the phone or in person?”
“We should talk in person, no?”
“Okay. Where do you want to meet?”
“I can meet you near your place.”
“Okay. There’s a bar a few blocks away. I’ll send the address.”
The call was over and anxiety washed over Jun. He had no idea how to start or what to say. There was nothing he could say to take back those shitty things he said to Chan and there was nothing he could say to justify them. He was immature, insecure, all of those things. He hated that he put himself in this position and that he had to even apologize in the first place, but he knew that he couldn’t just sit quietly.
As Chan got ready, he felt very irritated. Of course, you’d already told him how the conversation with Jun went. He even felt annoyed at that. How many ways did that man have to show you that he wasn’t ready for this kind of relationship? It was so frustrating to sit back and watch Jun hurt you both. These feelings were no longer coming from a place of insecurity or jealousy; it was a place of genuine concern. It seemed like a good idea at first, but maybe this kind of relationship was beyond the three of you. Chan had done online searches trying to figure out how he should go about things but he always ended up in a loop where his question was too specific or there were too few answers for him to make an educated guess.
With the current state of things, he at least knew that he’d at least attempted some research. Had Jun even bothered to do research on what it meant to be in this kind of relationship? Chan knew that there were different types of people but he could see that Jun wasn’t the kind of person that could handle this. Once upon a time, Chan wasn’t either but he’d like to think that he’d grown since then. If being in a relationship with you and Jun had taught him anything at all, it was patience and he’d even gained a bit of maturity. At the end of the day, you needed a man who was mature, a man who made you feel secure and who felt secure in himself. Of course, Chan wasn’t perfect and he had moments where he felt insecure but, overall, Chan liked himself and the person he was becoming. He was becoming a better man, not only for you, but for himself as well.
When Jun entered the bar, Chan was already there. He was sitting by himself, having a cocktail. From the looks of it, it was dark liquor. It was one of those nights and Jun understood. Hell, he figured he’d order one for himself. He greeted Chan with a nod and sat down in the seat next to him.
“Hey,” Chan said, taking a swig from his glass.
“Hey,” Jun replied. He turned to the bartender. “Can I have the same thing?” he asked, referencing Chan’s nearly finished glass.
Chan downed the rest of his drink, sliding the glass toward the bartender. “And can I have another?”
A moment of silence passed before the bartender returned with both drinks. Jun let out a deep sigh before he turned to Chan. Chan didn’t look up, though, and understandably so, Jun supposed.
“I’m sorry for those things I said back in Jeju. I was completely out of line,” he started. “I know I can’t take any of it back but all of this happened because I wasn’t being honest. I wasn’t being honest with myself and I took it out on you instead, thinking you were the problem when I was the problem. I drank too much and I felt frustrated. I should’ve been honest with Y/N and told her I wasn’t comfortable.”
Chan nodded. His feelings about everything began to rise to the surface. “I’m not going to forgive you right away but I’ll accept your apology for now…” Jun didn’t say anything but nodded instead. He didn’t know what to say next. Was there anything left to say? Was the conversation over? Was this one of those instances where the conversation could’ve just been a phone call? Just when Jun thought that the conversation was over, Chan spoke again. “You know what was most upsetting about all of this? I thought we were finally at a point where we could be friends…I thought wow, we’re actually getting along.”
Hearing that made Jun feel even worse than he already did. He wanted to be able to be friends with Chan too but his insecurities were holding him back. In the ideal situation, the three of them would get along. In the ideal situation, he and Chan would be sitting at this bar having a drink together, laughing and sharing stories, while you were at home with no worries about whether or not your boyfriends would get into a fight. There wouldn’t be all this drama and conflict surrounding the relationship, for God’s sake!
Jun wanted to say something comforting. He wanted to tell him that he did want to be friends, believe it or not. But he couldn’t find the right words. The words, for some reason, wouldn’t leave his mouth. “I’m sorry…again.”
Chan was frustrated because it seemed like he didn’t even care. Was Jun here because you made him or was he here apologizing on his own accord? It was hard to think of him as a decent person after all the drama and lies about Malai and more recently, their Jeju trip. This was his second strike, in Chan’s eyes. If he did something else, Chan wouldn’t be able to forgive him. He couldn’t read Jun’s mind but it would be nice to know what he was thinking.
He said, “I don’t think you’re serious about this relationship. Have you considered it at all? If you’re serious about being with Y/N, you’re going to have to work harder. and I’m more than willing to support her to make this work. But if you’re having doubts or don’t think you can work with us, then you should leave us alone. Y/N is my priority. Why isn’t she yours?”

Translations and when both make sense in their own way, but this time you like the actual one better
Today out of left nowhere a comment was left on my previous rambling on the German I hear the Sunspot translation.
Tumblr media
First thought: Huh? But it made perfect sense reading it just in German? Second action: Picking up the volume and checking up the translator: Diana Hesse, same as Yuki no Shita no Qualia. (Who already did a better job at that one's fantranslation, even if I actually never wanted to know better.)
Me: Yeah, let's just have faith in that translator.
Me five minutes later: YAPPA KI NI NARIMASU.
Checks up the scanlated scene: Mmmmm, just by context the quoted scanlation line would make sense too in its own way??? And Mio is a bit suspiciously extra blushy and his answer makes more sense? Wait, no, no, no, nooo, don't tell me, this is the reverse Qualia case???
My JP order of the month: Just got shipped out this day.
Booklive (JP manga ebook site): Hey, look 40 points will expire this month!
Tumblr media
And look, it's Harukaze no Etranger volume 4 WITH EXTRA (digital only from the looks of it?)
as well as:
Tumblr media
Only till the end of today JST: 10% Off any number of books off any genre!
Me: ...
Right. This is definitely a cosmic conspiracy to get me do yet another double dipping is it.
(Needless to say, I caved.)
So what is the scene even about?
In volume 4 of Harukaze no Etranger (Seaside Stranger: Harukaze no Étranger in official English) a 5 years time skip has happened. Fumi is now a teenager in middle school. Shun is suffering from a sort of burn out from his work and Mio, stuck in his daily routine, you could say, is having a bit of a fit of marriage blues? Doubts creep in, the honeymoon phase has been over for a while and the pair has to face that sort of challenges of a some years old ongoing relationship will have. (And which just about almost all romance tale have a tendency to avoid as much as they can, because they lack the maturity for it.) Not that the freshness of youthful love isn't still there with Fumi in all its glorious absurdness, which at least has a throwback on at least one of the old tales of the main pair.
So Fumi is in love with Sakurako, the former fiancé of Shun. Mio and the reader already know that back from Umibe, but Fumi learns of this only now in this volume. He also addresses it, when he confesses to her. Mio is present the whole time and in a really awkward spot as shown with a variety of hilarious reactions of his. He's clearly concerned about Sakurako, despite the fresh air around her cutting her hair and otherwise looking every bit like boldly opening a new chapter of her life. So he approaches her about that outright. (Just to earn a "Do I have to hear that from you?" which gives him another hilariously painful stab.)
After that, Shun and Mio have a little stroll together and wind up at the beach. The scene in question takes place there, after Mio gets a bit too agitated at playing around in the water having fun and Shun spells out that Mio is having a burn out in his own right. He asks him to scale down on things, he'll also help with the chores, so he asks him to spend more time with him.
There is a pause and then:
Tumblr media
German edition: "Of course I would have done her the favor of marrying her had I been able to."
Scanlation version:
Tumblr media
And followed by both is Shun's mute pained face:
Tumblr media
as well as Mio's answer to him, which winds up being
Tumblr media
German: "I understand that"
Scanlation:
Tumblr media
If you read one version on its own, each of the lines make well sense on their own.
Shun has always had a trauma over being gay. His previous loves were all one-sided and for the most part unvoiced. He wanted nothing more than being able to fall in love "normally" with a girl, to the point he was suggesting to Mio in Umibe that he's wasting himself on him. And Sakurako is an important person to him, it makes perfect sense he'd want to return her feelings even more on top of his trauma. And given what had just happened the previous day, about Mio being in that awkward spot (where Shun made the perfect escape move of not saying anything) it makes perfect sense for him to address Sakurako and the broken engagement part and be appropriately honest about it.
But looking it with the other lines in the head – Mio's answer to Shun after he says this makes little sense in German. Mio never had that trauma. He had made up his mind after giving it a long throughout thinking over. He knows he suffered from all that, but he couldn't possibly say he understands any of it. So him saying "I understand that" is presumptuous at best.
The scanlation line on the other hand just completely leaves Sakurako out of the picture. That's a bit weird, but still would fall in line with Sakurako having made clear she wasn't doing any moves on him (she only revealed still being in love with Shun to Mio to begin with) and as of recent she was talking about it all so freely like it was a past thing over, he could think there was no need to worry about her. (She was always stronger than him, too.) It does not indirectly reference his inability to love girls, but it does reference how his relationship isn't socially accepted, which is just the flip side of his trauma and something he also bemoans in Umibe to his cousin. And he'd just asked Mio to spend more time with him, so adding some more cheese on top of it looks like a sensible progression. (Especially since he's failed on his "The moon is beautiful" move and probably has some need to tell him he's not getting tired of him, especially after Mio even vocally expressed such doubt.) And Mio does get a bit flushy in that panel there. And his answer makes sense as an answer.
But as much as it makes sense, as well, I really wouldn't like it after all. Shun can be very short-sighted, but I'd still like to think that this between him and her bit is something he'll always carry with him, the same as Mio carries complicated feelings about her, after she told him off in that beach scene in Umibe. Also, there this one panel where he runs out of words, like sudden realization struck, right before his pained face - I like what if scenarios and in the German version he clearly would have pictured that other life. A life in which the one big suffering wasn't there, but the price would have been not meeting Mio, something he'd just realized what his previous sentence implies, but now fails to follow on. He wouldn't want to spell it out and give it some shape for fear of hurting Mio. (Which would neatly tie to Mio's previous what if-thoughts of if Shun wasn't gay and attracted to him, what would have become of him back at the seaside?) This feels a deal more impactful than the other version, which probably would be more like he makes that pained face, because that would be admitting that the lack of social acceptance is still eating away at him, even though he previously declared he wasn't going to let that put him down anymore. Or something.
Also – the scanlation line amounts to nothing short of a roundabout proposal, which are right out of cheese hell. And the volume already has so much of that this ingredient already, it didn't need more!!!
Well. Time to let money solve the issue.
The Japanese one:
Tumblr media
"About that I, you know if I could have done something like marrying her I would have liked doing that for her."
The Japanese line states あいつ (aitsu, literally "that person"). Which means, he doesn't mean Mio here. Technically, you could go with "that guy", as the scanlation version does, if the context allows for it. But it doesn't. To begin with, if he really was citing a thought he previously had, it would have 「」 brackets or a ---と or ---って there, which are all denotations of direct speech quoting. Japanese preserves original speech far more than English, and its grammar also allows for it. In English, you'd much rather use indirect speech and avoid quotation marks for the sake of a more smooth sentence flow. But even beyond that, the key part of the Japanese line is the tense. He says してやりたかった (shiteraritakatta, literally "wanted to give the action of something to somebody"). That's past tense. That can only be about Sakurako, because it's in the past. If it was about wanting to marry Mio, that is something he'd absolutely still want.
So, yay, the German translation was on point after all! What it could have certainly done a little bit better is Mio's answer:
Tumblr media
わかる (wakaru, "know" or "understand") does mean "(I) understand (that)". But here a simple "I know." would have been far more suitable.
But in any case, it's definitely not a "Me too".
Well, bottom line, for all the "nooooes" over actually nonexistent cheese, I found out about that digital extra. (It's an illustration of Shun in the same outfit as of the above scene in question.)
Also interesting how it explicitly puts up a "Don't post this on the internet" even in English. That's a first of being this overt on an official work right next to the picture rather than on the fine print page.
