Tony Stark was a wizard well known to attract trouble with the divine. First it was Loki, who had been enraged that a mere mortal couldn't be enchanted by him. Then it was Thor when Tony cursed his brother to erupt in painful boils if he dared to step on Earth. After, it was Steven drenched head to toe in swamp water—which was very reasonable on Tony's part because the flame keeper's tantrum was hurting his largest batch of hibiscus. Though he was willing to admit there had been a slight misunderstanding due to Natasha and Fury's mingled cunning. There was also Tiberus Stone, a minor deity of an abandoned mountain, who sought Tony's land and thought the best way to do it was to flood the lower plains and destroy an entire settlement. The less it was said about how many mortals and immortals he had pissed off was better. Though the incident did gain Tony his Rhodeybear, a furious looking cloud Elf and it did mellow Steven, who now went by Steve of all names.
Coming to the present, there was a wolf blocking his way. Its fur gleaming silver like the frost and eyes glittering greys and blues like a budding storm. Tony had been warned about it. Once a hell demon going by the name of Winter Soldier, now he was seated at the council of gods as the White Wolf.
Not currently of course. Not when he was prowling around Tony in a way that wasn't unlike a predator circling a prey. A slightly difficult situation, considering Tony was all out of mana after destroying the Hydra beast lurking near a demigod settlement and his spare arc was in the carriage with little miss Wanda. He was bleeding and exhausted, hungry and stumbling.
He was a great wizard. The best. But he was also a mortal in dire need of the comforts of his home.
So he was caught unaware when a drop of his blood touched the ground, when the wolf took a deep breath and lunged, disappearing into a blur. And Tony, who was too busy in trying keep his body upright, yelped when his world tilted and he ended up facing the maw of the beast.
"Alright, that's it," he growled, pulling his only faintly glowing arc out of his pocket. "Get off, frost fleabag, before I push you—hheeek!"
He would never admit it, not even under the threat of drowning, that he squeaked like a squirrel when he felt the icy tip of the wolf's nose diving into the crook of his neck. He would also never tell of how the soft exhale which cast ice crystals over his skin made his cheeks heat in a way no mortal or immortal had ever known to or how he shivered when he felt the scrape of tongue over his skin.
"Bucky, no!"
The wolf jumped back, its teeth bared and eyes slanted in annoyance. Tony was quick to scramble up and plant his back against the nearest stump of tree, wondering why in the world was Steve marching down towards the wolf like it was a runaway dog and why in the world was the White Wolf sniffing and licking Tony.
"What in the seven heavens are you doing?"
The wolf huffed out a challenging breath then growled at the god, before tilting its head towards Tony.
"Absolutely not! No," Steve growled, erupting in his usual bright blue fames. "You know it is forbidden."
"What is," Tony voiced out loud, gathering the attention of the two divines. A flicker of annoyance washed over him, reminding him just why Gods were the most terrible of all immortal brethren. They were brutish, vicious and above all, thought they were entitled to every man's respect. "I wish to know exactly why your friend—is he not—decided to jump a weary travelling wizard?" He gave himself pause to fix his posture, then added a snide "your ever-unfrozen highness" for good measure.
The wolf huffed out a —laugh? It cast a smug look towards Steven then licked its teeth in a slow teasing reminder of what it had tasted on Tony.
Tony, like any respectable wizard, ignored the heat and tingles rising up his spine and crossed his arms.
"Well?"
"He's Bucky."
"Oh my—is he your pet? How very scandalous, your lordship! Does the heaven know about it? Does my godmother know about it? Who, may I remind you, you have pledged your eternally beating heart to."
"Tony," Steve sighed, his flames flickering back to a more manageable size. "No. He's not—He is my friend. And he, uh..."
The wolf snorted and much to Tony's everlasting surprise, Steve's flames came back roaring.
"Shift back to your humane form then, I'm not willing to be your translator for the night!"
"What are you—"
The place where the wolf was standing erupted in a flurry of snow and wind. And Tony watched, fascinated and already itching to try and create a spell which could mimic the flare of it all, as the air cleared.
The wolf was gone, and instead there was a man, almost as tall as Steven. His hair belowed with the wind, reaching past his chin in waves that would make the travelling Sphinx jealous. His left arm, bless Tony's luck, was completely encased in ice and carrying a scythe made of Wakandan moon stone. A greedy part of Tony wondered if he could somehow detach it from the god and keep it for himself, which was immediately smothered by the memory of his mama chastising him for being spoiled.
As if sensing his appreciation, the wolf-god-man bared his teeth-his fangs into a roguish smile and spoke with a deep rumble which clouded the air with a sudden chill.
"I am here to declare wizard Anthony Edward Stark as my beloved consort. And I wish for him to be seated with me in the highest council of gods."
So there you have it.
Tony Stark was a wizard well known to attract trouble with the divine. But this just might be one of a kind.

To say Chris had been acting weird this week would be an understatement.
You were sure it all started over the weekend, since you noticed his odd behaviour that Friday night when you were about to leave your shared flat to go hang out with one of your friends. Chris had come out of his room to get something from the kitchen, and he had stopped in his tracks as soon as he saw you there applying your makeup by the bureau in the entrance.
It wasn’t like you hadn’t caught him looking at you before, you were pretty confident that he’d often look at you–whether it was for instinctual reasons or what you weren’t really sure–but he genuinely looked like a deer in the headlights while he stood there completely paralysed. The worst part was that you weren’t wearing anything particularly revealing, just a crop top–that wasn’t even that short, it barely even exposed your belly–and some leggings.
“You okay there?” You asked Chris as you returned your eyes to the mirror, adding the finishing touches to your makeup.
“Uhh… Are you… Are you going out?” You didn’t look back at him while he talked to you, deciding that, since he was being awkward, it would be easier for him to speak without you looking at him.
“Yeah, babes. I’ve been talking about it all week, remember?” Dropping the eyeliner pen back on your makeup bag you looked at yourself one last time. ‘This will do’ was all you could think, satisfied with your face as you turned to look at your roommate.
Chris wasn’t there anymore, but he emerged from his room seconds after with one of his black hoodies in hand. “Take this, pretty. It’s cold out”, pet names were a constant in the household, even among Chris’ friends, so you never thought much of it whenever he said them to you, or whenever you said them to him.
You chuckled, oddly amused by the sudden request. “I already have a jacket, Chris. But thank you”.
“No, no. You need to take it. Seriously”, Chris moved, getting into your space, going as far as to try to put the garment over your head.
“Woa, Chris–” You tried to push him away, but he ignored your protests.
“It won’t be any good if you catch a cold!”
“Chris!” You took a hold of the garment and jumped back away from him, keeping the hoodie in your hands.
Chris whined your name, he really whined. “Please, just… Take it. And wear it…”
He looked genuinely concerned, and it made you sigh immediately. You examined the item in your hands for a second, it was one of his oversized hoodies–oversized even on him. As you looked between the garment in your hands and Chris’ worried face, you couldn’t help but sigh. It was always hard for you to not give in to your roommate’s requests. “Fine, fine. I’ll take it, jeez”.
A bright smile settled on his lips as he watched you put on the hoodie, his eyes disappeared into crescents and his dimples were now on full display. The sight almost made you scream, he was just too damn cute and you felt your heart thump a bit faster against your ribcage as soon as your eyes landed on his form.
“Happy now?” You huffed out, dragging your hands down your front, trying to help the fabric settle over your body. The thing was huge, the hem reached the middle of your thighs, and the sleeves pooled around your limbs, effectively engulfing your frame.
“Very”, Chris moved back into your space, bringing his hands up to fiddle with the hood of the hoodie, almost like he was trying to put it around your neck as a makeshift scarf. “Need a lift?” Satisfied with the position of the hood, his hands moved to your shoulders, dragging them over the fabric like he was trying to iron creases out.
“Nah, don’t worry about it, it’s fine”.
Chris’ gaze moved to look you in the eyes. The movement of his hands on your shoulders stopped, but he didn’t remove them.
Ever since you met him around a year ago, there had always been something about Chris’ eyes that made you feel oddly giddy. It was almost as if his gaze was trying to intimidate you. Your brain always urged you to look away whenever you looked him in the eyes for too long–which was silly, considering Chris was one of the most welcoming, caring people you’d ever met.
You never gave into that fight or flight instinct. On the contrary, subconsciously–and sometimes, even consciously, you’d admit–you made it a point to keep staring right back at him, almost like you were challenging him. Which was probably very stupid on your part, since you knew really well who he was–what he was.
Clearing your throat, you mustered the most confident tone you could to speak. “I have to… Have to go now”.
Chris blinked slightly, as if your voice had brought him back from a place deep within his thoughts. “Right…”
His hands moved from your shoulders to cradle your face, and he took one step closer to press a kiss on your forehead. Chris did this often, especially before you left the house, you had seen him do it to his younger friends, too. The gesture always brought heat to your face, and you honestly didn’t think you’d ever get used to it.
“Don’t hesitate to call if you need anything. Have fun, love!” was the last thing he told you before he turned around and returned to his room.
You left shortly after that, feeling actually thankful for the hoodie once you stepped out of the building, since it truly was cold out, and the garment surely helped you retain heat much better than the jacket you were planning on wearing.
That day, you had decided to stay at your friend’s place for an impromptu sleepover, and the entire thing triggered the second weird interaction with Chris that weekend, just that this time it was over text.
< You: heyyyyy darrliinnng,,,,  < just so you know i’m staying here today < dont forget to lock the door tonight < AGAIN
> Xtopher 🐺: i never forget to lock the door pretty girl > lier > liiiieeeerrr
You scoffed at the message, but you also couldn’t help but chuckle after. The nerve of this man, as if you hadn’t arrived home late at night or even the next day after going out to find that he didn’t lock the door. After a couple of minutes, Chris texted again.
> Xtopher 🐺: u guys on ur own?
< You: no < my friend’s older brothers are here < we’re playing mario kart
Chris had read your message. You could see he was online, and you saw the ‘typing…’ message appear and disappear for five whole minutes before he finally replied.
> Xtopher 🐺: u wearing the hoodie > ?
< You: yes?
> Xtopher 🐺: show me
You rolled your eyes, just slightly annoyed–or you tried to tell yourself you were annoyed, in reality you had a smile on your face, and you couldn’t help but feel a tiny bit amused by Chris’ antics. You decided to humour him. After all, you hadn’t taken the hoodie off since you left your flat. If anyone asked, you’d just tell them the thing was comfortable–which wasn’t entirely a lie–but the truth was you continued wearing it just because you enjoyed the way you could smell him on it. It was almost like he was there, hugging you.
< You: [sent a photo]
> Xtopher 🐺: good > u should sleep in it cutie > its cold today
He’d mentioned this ‘it’s cold, you’ll catch a cold’ thing twice already. Chris could be overly protective of his friends, you’d seen it time and time again with your neighbours–his friends–and you’d even been on the receiving end of his worries many times in the past, so you decided not to think too much of it.
The moment you opened your flat’s door the next day, Chris was already pulling you into his arms, hugging you tightly and pressing a kiss to your forehead. You let him hug you, because of course you did. It wasn’t like you never hugged, but it was honestly never like this–never had he held you this close, this tightly. Even if his behaviour had been slightly out of the ordinary you couldn’t bring yourself to not let him hug you, selfishly deciding that you would let yourself indulge.
What you had not been prepared for that day, though, was feeling Chris press his face to your neck, nor feeling his nose lightly brush the area right under your jaw. You tensed at the foreign feeling, and Chris tensed immediately after. He scrambled to pull himself away from you, mumbling a ‘sorry, welcome back. There’s food on the stove’ before he promptly disappeared into his room.
Things got weirder as days went by, Chris would simultaneously get close to you and try to keep himself as far away as possible. It got especially weird one night when his friend Seungmin came by. You’d hugged Seungmin to greet him–just like you always did–and you were both suddenly startled by a low growl. Seungmin’s eyes snapped in Chris’ direction, looking at him sitting on the sofa, glaring at you two. Seungmin had moved faster than you could even register the movement, walking as far away from you as possible and rambling on to his friend about something you honestly couldn’t even remember now.
You knew what Chris and his friends were. You knew what this entire building was–although you didn’t know it when you first moved here.
Your mother and Chris’ worked at the same company, so when he started to look for a roommate because ‘godforsaken bills are expensive as shit’, his mother had asked around the office for any possible candidate, and your mother had given her your contact details since you had been looking to move out for a few months by that point.
The building wasn’t particularly big, only four floors without counting the ground floor. You learnt after moving in that the building belonged to Changbin’s parents. Changbin was one of Chris’ closest friends, and that arrangement with his parents made it so the both of them and six other friends of theirs could move into this building.
At first, you had been hesitant to move in with a man, but on your first visit Chris had made you feel so comfortable and welcomed there was no doubt in your mind when you finally decided to move in.
You learnt of their… Condition four months after moving in. You had a date and the guys thought you wouldn’t be coming back that day. Chris was clearly not counting on your date being an absolute asshole and you running back to your flat that same night, because as soon as you stepped through the door you found three large ‘dogs’ in the middle of your living room with Chris and a handful of his friends surrounding them. They all gave you panicked looks, and after a lot of screaming and prying and questioning, Chris confessed to you that they were werewolves.
It had taken you a full week to accept the truth, but once you did every single odd behaviour you had noticed in Chris and his friends made a lot of sense. Their monthly ‘camping trip’ that would always conveniently happen when there was a full moon, how touchy and affectionate he and his friends were, ‘cuddles are a must!’ he would say often when holding onto someone, or how hot their skin was… The list could go on and on. Interestingly enough, they never made you feel threatened or in danger, on the contrary, they had welcomed you into their lives–into their den–and they even became your friends, too.
You had done a lot of reading on werewolves since then. Sometimes you asked Chris for details when you felt specially curious, other times you just went on the internet and dug out whatever you could find, but this odd behaviour of Chris’ lately was something you hadn’t inquired further into yet. You’d been too busy trying to study for your upcoming exams while balancing work, and that left no room for your mind to wander. Hell, you hadn’t even had time to fold your laundry, the pile of clothes being moved back and forth from the chair to your bed every morning and every night.
You were sitting on your chair, leaning over the desk in your room to scribble on the countless sheets of papers scattered around, trying to cram even more information into your brain. You certainly needed to take a break, but it was hard to bring yourself to. The universe, however, clearly had other plans for you.
The sudden knock on your door startled you, but you still turned around and mustered a soft ‘come in’, only to see Chris open your door shortly after, making his way into your room.
“Hey, you wanna eat–” His movements stopped and his eyes opened wide as his gaze moved from the pile of clothes on your bed, to you, back to the clothes, and back to you.
“Ah, sorry for the mess. I haven’t had time to fold my clothes”, you shrugged, pulling the sleeve of the hoodie you were wearing–his hoodie–down your arm again, since you usually had to roll it up to your elbow when you wanted to write to avoid shuffling the papers around.
Chris’ eyes followed your movement, and the doorknob he still held in his hand rattled slightly as his grip around it tightened–tight enough to make his fist tremble.
“Shit…” He mumbled, only to turn around and bolt out of your room. “Shit, shit, shit…” You could hear him swearing even as he walked away, and alarm bells started to ring in your head instantly.
Your body moved almost on its own, following him down the hall. “Hey, what’s wrong?”
“Shit, shit, shit, shit…” He fumbled with his bag that had been discarded this morning by the sofa, pushing his laptop inside. “Gotta go…” You weren’t sure if he was talking to you or not, but you pressed him further.
“Christopher, what’s wrong?”
“You… Shit… Go, go, go…” Chris made a beeline towards the front door, picking up his keys from their designated bowl on the bureau as soon as he made it to the entryway.
You couldn’t let him leave, not when he looked this… Well, you weren’t sure what he was feeling, but he was certainly frantic, and that couldn’t be a good sign. So you moved quickly, getting close to him so you could pull on his arm. “Chris–”
At that moment you were reminded that Chris and his friends were, in fact, otherworldly. You couldn’t even register the movement, one instant you were standing in the middle of the hall and the next you had your back against the wall, with Chris’ hands at either side of you and his body pressing you to it as his nose brushed against your neck, inhaling deeply.
“So fucking good…” His voice was barely a whisper, but there was absolutely no space between you, so you heard him. You heard him loud and clear. You should’ve felt intimidated, scared even. But right then, as you felt his warmth seep into you, and hearing the low tone of his voice, you couldn’t help but come to the realisation that you liked it.
“C–Chris”, your hands came up, your fingers barely brushed his sides, but then he moved away, rather abruptly.
“Fuck, I’m… I’m so sorry”, he brought his hands to his head, burying his fingers in his hair, and pulling the strands as he started to pace around the hall. “I’m so sorry. So, so sorry”.
“Are you… Are you okay?” You couldn’t help but ask, he was clearly extremely worried, and now that you got to look at him better, he almost looked in pain. It was starting to worry you.
Chris’ eyes snapped up to meet yours, and an incredulous look settled on his face. “Am I okay? I just pushed you against the wall and you’re asking if I’m okay?”
You simply held his gaze, just like you always did. You didn’t know how long the stare-off lasted, probably a few seconds, but it felt eternal. You would’ve continued staring back at him had a growl not resonated from deep within his chest, making the fine hairs at your nape stand on end and your eyes go wide in surprise, while his shut tightly. “Stop looking me in the eyes, God. Do you have any idea what that does to my head?”
“What does it do?” You could guess what it did. You could guess because you had thought about it before.
Chris was an alpha werewolf, he was the leader of his pack, and you knew that eye contact could potentially mean you were challenging his role in the group. And maybe you were. Maybe you were just trying to get him to react.
“Makes me want to–” Chris cut himself short, gritting his teeth and grimacing slightly. When he opened his eyes again, they were almost pleading. “God, I’m so sorry. I’ve been… Been trying really hard to not make you uncomfortable, but here I am being a total creep”.
You finally detached yourself from the wall, walking a few steps closer to him, and his body tensed at the proximity. “I don’t think you’re a creep, I’m actually really worried about you. You’ve been acting weird all week, what’s going on?”
“Shit, you… You really have no idea, do you?” Chris’ entire body was taut as he stared you up and down, and the motion made you gulp, almost audibly.
“About what?” You took another tentative step closer. Your brain did register the danger, it urged you to run away, but there was something in you that wouldn’t let you, that wanted you to move as close to him as you could.
Chris’ gaze moved back up to look at your face briefly, only to dip lower slightly, looking at your neck. His tongue peeked from within his mouth, licking his lips almost absentmindedly as he looked at you. “How fucking good you smell”, he inhaled sharply. The action somehow brought heat to your face, it made you blush. “Fuck, it’s been driving me nuts all week. It’s been driving me nuts for months, but especially this week…”
He took a step closer, only to stop his movements as soon as they started, clenching his fists tightly at his sides. You stayed silent, rooted on the spot right where you were, which he clearly noticed. “You need to get away from me. I’m… Dangerous, fuck. The things roaming in my head right now… Shit…”
You knew he was right. You needed to leave. But you really couldn’t bring yourself to. “What are you thinking about? Tell me”.
Shaking his head, Chris shut his eyes tightly, and a faint blush settled on his cheeks. Against your better judgement, you walked another step closer, just as your eyes roamed his form. You had failed to notice before, but now it was very obvious to you what was going on. Your eyes went wide in surprise, and you just couldn’t stop your tongue from leaving your mouth to lick your lips as you noticed the tent in his joggers. He was… He was huge, and you would lie if you said you were not affected by the sight.
Chris’ eyes snapped open, and yours snapped back up to look him in the eyes again. Shit, he’d caught looking, and something was starting to change in his eyes as he looked back at you. Gulping the saliva that had collected in your mouth, you found the courage to ask. “Are you… Are you going through your rut already?”
“So it seems”, he took a step closer towards you.
“Is this why you’ve been lending me one of your hoodies every day? To leave your scent on me?”
His ears grew red, but he kept his mouth tightly shut. His eyes scanned your face for a bit only to finally settle on your neck once again, giving you a minute nod of his head.
“Be honest with me, Christopher. Why are you doing it? Is this something you do with our friends, too, to keep them safe or something?” You needed to know. You needed to know what he thought of you. Did he think of you in the same ways that you had thought of him all these months?
Chris inhaled deeply once again, and he took another step closer. “No, this is not something I do to my friends. I just can’t bear thinking there might be anyone out there that could smell you and get any ideas, especially not when you’re fucking ovulating”.
Your breath hitched in your throat, just as you felt wetness pool in your core, and Chris growled. He literally growled, like an animal, and the sound made you a bit lightheaded, but probably not for the reasons it should have. “Fuck, why are you… Why are you getting turned on by this? You know full well what I am. Go lock yourself in your fucking room while I can still think and hold back”.
“What if… What if I don’t want to lock myself in my room?” You licked your lips, and Chris’ eyes followed the movement, just as another low growl resonated from deep within him. “What if I don’t want you to hold back?”
You felt your back hit the wall again, but it was hard to register it when you could also feel Chris’ lips on yours, when you could feel him kissing you so eagerly. A small whimper escaped your mouth as soon as he kissed you, and you immediately kissed him back, grabbing his shirt tightly in your fists to pull him as close to you as you could while his hands found their way to your lower back.
You could feel his hardened length press against your belly, and it made you whine. One of his hands dipped lower from your back to grope one of your buttocks while the other dragged up your front, finding one of your breasts and squeezing it. His grip was strong, firm and you couldn’t help but moan against his mouth, eliciting a grunt from his lips.
When Chris separated his mouth from yours, he diverted his attention to your neck, pressing his nose under your jaw and inhaling deeply once again. “Fuck, you smell so fucking good. So sweet and fertile”, the hand on your breast shuffled, and his fingers found your nipple, pinching it over the fabric of your hoodie–his hoodie. “I want you to be mine, fuck. Mine and only mine. I’ve wanted it for so long”.
Your inner walls clenched around nothing, and you felt more wetness pool at your core as soon as his words registered in your brain. Chris noticed, because of course he did, how could he not when his enhanced senses seemed to be able to pick up even the smallest changes in your body. He rolled his hips to grind his cock against you, grunting, letting you feel him. “You want that, too, yeah? Wanna be mine? Just say it, love, and I’ll make you mine. All mine”, he emphasised his words with another squeeze to your breast, making you whine.
“Wanna–Wanna be yours… Wanted to for so long, too”.
“Fuck…” He moved his hand from your breast, dragging all the way up for him to take a hold of the back of your neck while his lips returned to yours.
He kissed you with force, with need, his tongue made its way into your mouth to find yours eagerly waiting for him, ready to dance against his. You felt dizzy, completely overcome by his presence around you–his hands, his tongue, his mouth, the sounds he made, how warm he felt under your hands… All combined was steadily clouding your reason–not like you had much of it left since you had moved into this place.
Chris scooped you into his arms, the action was so sudden it made you yelp as your legs wrapped around his middle on instinct and your arms looped around his neck for stability. No one had ever been able to pick you up like this, this… Easily.
You weren’t exactly light, you’d always been on the curvier, chubbier side–which you’d always liked about yourself, you did feel pretty, but you had never let anyone even remotely try to carry you. Yet, Chris didn’t seem to struggle one bit, as if you weighed nothing. Moving with purpose, he started to whisper in your ear. “Gonna make you feel so good, baby. So good. I’ll treat you so well, just like you deserve”.
Your hands trembled slightly as you held onto his shoulders. “Chris…”
“God…” Chris reached your room, pushing the door closed with his foot as soon as he was inside. “Say my name again”.
“Chris”, your voice was barely a whisper, with your lips almost pressed to his ear as you spoke.
“Again” He dropped you on your bed, right on top of your unfolded clothes. Taking a hold of the back of his vest top, he pulled it over his head, and your mouth immediately watered at the sight. He was so incredibly handsome, you could almost feel your hands tremble with excitement at the prospect of finally getting to touch him just how you’d been wanting to
“Chris”, you repeated, looking up at him as he kneeled between your legs. He was so broad, you just couldn’t stop your hands from reaching out to palm his shoulders while his fingers hooked on the waistband of your leggings, and you gasped when he pulled them roughly down your legs.
“Fuck… Look at you”, his hands found your inner thighs, rubbing them up and down, dragging them over your skin for a bit to warm up, only to grip them tightly after, making you squeal.
He pushed your legs apart, roughly, all so he could shove his face between your legs. His nose prodded your clothed entrance, making you moan softly, and a low growl seemed to have started to rumble deep within him. Never had you felt this affected by anyone, every single one of his movements had your skin on fire, your senses alert, and especially now, as his tongue dragged over the wet spot on your underwear, making you swear under your breath.
By the time you registered the movement, Chris had already torn your underwear apart, the thing reduced to shredded scraps that he simply threw on the floor, looking almost offended that the garment had been on you in the first place. His gaze fixed on your core, and his tongue darted out to lick his lips as two of his fingers came to collect your essence, spreading it all over your slit.
“So fucking wet”, his fingers moved from your entrance to your clit, rubbing slow, teasing circles that had you whimpering under his touch. “Who made you this wet?”
“You did–” Your words caught in your throat when his fingers moved down again.
“Who?” He shoved two of his digits into you, the wetness between your legs letting them enter you with ease. The sudden intrusion had you throwing your head back, curling your toes, and you couldn’t help but moan at the feel of his fingers moving in and out of you, deliciously dragging against your walls.
“You, Chris!” His tongue swiped over your clit, and as soon as he tasted you, an almost animalistic groan escaped his throat.
His mouth was relentless, kissing and licking your clit while his fingers fucked you open. Time and space slipped between your fingers, all thoughts in your brain disappeared as your mind filled only with Chris and his fingers and his tongue and the sounds he made. If him eating you out and fingering you felt like this, you couldn’t even fathom how it’d be like when he fucked you, but you were certainly more than ready to find out.
Two fingers turned into three, that later turned into four, stretching you open to your limits while his tongue on your clit coaxed the lewdest sounds to come out of your lips. The most alluring part of it all, though, was his eyes, staring deep into yours. It was almost as if he was finally getting his payback for all the times you had stared back at him in the past, like he was trying to remind you, to shove in your face, just who was the predator and who was the prey.
And it made you feel warm, really warm. Sweat collected on the back of your neck as his fingers stretched you open and his tongue worked you up. A low, constant growl rumbled from him, you could feel the vibrations on your thigh that rested on his shoulder, and you could’ve sworn it had your whole bed vibrating with it. All you could do under his touch was moan and pant and whine, completely unable to form any coherent sentences when he had his mouth on you.
Your orgasm hit you hard, your walls spasmed repeatedly around his fingers, and your whole body shook with your release. The onslaught of sensations had tears pricking your eyes, had you struggling to get air into your lungs. The fact that your upper body was still covered by his hoodie probably added to that slight feeling of suffocation as warmth continued to spread all over your body.
Chris finally pulled his fingers out of you, and he brought them to his mouth to lick them clean, savouring the taste of you on his tongue with a deep growl. Attaching his lips to your thighs, he peppered them with kisses, licks, and bites, leaving purple splotches on your skin, mumbling to himself–the words falling against your skin, vaguely sounding like ‘so pretty, so, so pretty, so pretty, my pretty girl, gonna make you feel so good, gonna stuff you full, pretty, pretty’.
When he was satisfied with the art he left on your thighs he shuffled so he could kneel between your legs again. “Off”, Chris tugged on the hem of your hoodie, pulling it off of you in one swift motion, making your body bounce a bit when you fell back onto the bed as soon as the garment was off. “Fuck… Have you been wearing my clothes like this all the time?” His hands dragged all the way from your neck, down your breasts, your belly, and you could see his eyes taking you in, roaming all over your naked form as you laid under him.
“Only when–” Your words caught in your throat when his fingers started to tease your nipples, when you noticed his eyes were absolutely fixed on your chest. Chris seemed to be completely enthralled by the sight in front of him, by your sensitive skin under his fingertips, by the sounds he was coaxing out of your mouth with his fingers working your chest.
Swallowing, and after taking a deep breath, you got enough clarity in your mind to speak again. “Only when I want to feel like you’re the one warming me up”, there was a permanent blush on your face, it had made its home there as soon as his mouth connected to your heat earlier, so letting out one of your deepest secrets hardly changed your outer state.
Chris’ gaze snapped up from your chest to lock eyes with you, and you felt your breath catching in your throat again. You had never seen his eyes looking this dark. He had the prettiest brown eyes you’d ever seen, but right now his pupils almost completely engulfed that warm brown of his, leaving only black behind. With one final lick of his lips, his mouth found yours, kissing you deeply, hungrily. You’d admit that during your time living here, you had wondered many times how his lips would feel, how’d it be if he kissed you. They looked soft, plump, and now that you finally got a taste you were sure you wanted to have them on you as many times as possible, for as long as possible.
Taking your lower lip between his teeth, Chris moved away from you, eliciting a whimper to escape from your mouth once he released you. He got rid of his joggers, and his cock stood tall and proud between his legs. Fluid leaked from his tip–a lot of fluid–clear and thick. He collected some of it in his palm, coating himself thoroughly before he finally wrapped his fingers around his length, pumping it.
You propped yourself on your elbows, trying to get a better view, and you were completely captivated by the sight of his head popping out of his fist as he jerked himself, subconsciously licking your lips while you stared. He was bigger, girthier, than any regular human you’d seen, much less fucked. Quite honestly, it was slightly intimidating, but you weren’t one to back down from a challenge, especially not when the only thoughts in your mind right now were Chris and his fucking werewolf cock.
In one swift movement, Chris took a hold of your hips and pulled you further down on the bed, making you yelp. Your upper body fell back on the mattress with the motion, and he pushed your thighs together, moving them towards your chest. Bringing his hand to his mouth, he spread saliva over his palm before he wrapped his fingers around his length and coated himself in it–not like he needed it, since clear fluid continued to constantly leak from his tip.
“You look so good like this… You’re so fucking gorgeous”, bringing your legs towards him, he let them rest on his chest. His tip brushed your thighs, right where your supple flesh met, close to your core but not making contact with it, making you shudder as you felt his slick on your skin. “So soft, too”, Chris eased himself between your thighs with a satisfied groan, and your walls clenched around nothing while he held your legs in place and his hips started to thrust back and forth. “Even here, especially here. All mine to enjoy…”
Even if he was not actively stimulating you, this was quite possibly one of the most arousing things someone had ever done to you. The sight of his tip poking between your legs, the feel of his hips against your skin, all added to the look on his face as he looked down at you like you were his meal had you moaning softly, and even whining a bit.
“Fuck, I can almost taste how horny you are… Your scent’s everywhere. So fucking delicious”, his pace picked up, his hips collided against you with force as he fucked your thighs. Not only was it the sound of wet skin against wet skin, but also the feel of him hitting the back of your thighs that had you grabbing handfuls of the bedsheets, that had your whole body feeling tingling with need.
“Chris, please…” You weren’t even sure yourself what you were begging for, but as you stared back into his eyes you felt the urge to beg, so you did.
He pushed your thighs apart with force, and one of his hands took a hold of your hip, angling you just how he needed you to be, just how he wanted you to be, while the other took a hold of his cock, bringing close to your heat to tease your clit with his tip. The contact of his bare skin against yours had your breath catching in your throat, and Chris had a similar reaction as he stared at his cock brushing over your folds.
You knew he was clean, you two had gone to one of those pop-up clinics with Changbin around a month ago since he wanted some moral support after a scare. You’d gotten tested for the heck of it, just as did Chris, both coming up negative, and neither of you had been with anyone after–not like you could think too much about it anyway, you were so far gone you would’ve probably let him do anything to you without any second thought, because you wanted him to do those things, at this point, you felt like you needed him. Badly.
When his length started to make its way into your core, slowly stretching your walls, you truly got to feel his size. You were dripping, as was he–his cock still covered in the mix of his saliva and his slick–and he had prepped you with his fingers, but it was almost nothing compared to this. Bringing a hand to your core, you started to rub circles on your clit, trying to get yourself to relax.
“You’re doing well, baby. So good for me…” He was half way in, and you could hardly breathe. One of his hands moved to tweak your nipple, the stimulation coupled with the one of your fingers on your clit helped ease some of that sting you could feel between your legs.
“C–Chris”, you whimpered softly, looking him in the eyes.
Chris was an alpha, you knew that already, but as you your eyes found his you were able to understand part of his nature. Not because he looked dominant, or lustful, or borderline animalistic, but because he looked at you like he wanted to protect you, to comfort you. Even if he surely wanted to fuck you into oblivion, the need to provide comfort to you was clearly overpowering that need to mount you.
“Shh… Its okay. You’re a brave girl, I know you can take what’s yours”, with one final push of his hips he finally bottomed out.
Your fingers moved away from your clit as you exhaled–shit, you hadn’t even realised you had been holding your breath. Chris’ hands came to rest on your thighs, dragging them up and down in soothing motions. You felt impossibly full, completely stretched to your limits–had he been any bigger you doubt you would’ve been able to take him in at all.
“Fuck, so tight and warm…” His fingers came to toy with your clit, eliciting a soft moan from your lips. A low growl resonated in his chest, his eyes rolled to the back of his head, and he licked his lips while he threw his head back to enjoy the feeling of your walls wrapped snugly around him. “I’ll fuck you so good, pretty. I’ll make you all mine”.
You took a deep breath, and your eyes found his once he finally opened them to look at you again. You were still slightly breathless, but that didn’t seem to overpower the determination in your voice. “Do it, then. Fuck me good, Christopher”.
As soon as the words left your mouth, it was as if something snapped within him. The comforting, caring look left his eyes completely, replaced by an animalistic, dark look. When his thumb found your clit, rubbing precise circles on it, and his hips pulled back, only to snap back into you almost immediately, starting a fast, hard pace, you couldn’t help but cry out. It was a lot, a lot but somehow not enough at the same time.
Your walls adjusted quickly, the harsh sound of his hips hitting your skin made you dizzy, and it was almost like you could feel him in your throat whenever he thrusted all the way in. If you ever thought you had been fucked hard in your life, that had been nothing compared to the way Chris was fucking you now.
His fingers dug on the skin of your thigh, you could already feel bruises forming under his hold, but you didn’t care. All you cared about was having his hands on you, having his body over you, and having his cock fuck you open.
His thumb never left your clit, and before you could even register it building, your release hit you, making him growl at the feeling of your walls pulsating around him as he kept pounding into you. “So good for me, love. You’re taking me so fucking well. Can’t wait to fill you to the brim”.
Barely giving you time to catch your breath, Chris pulled out of you to take a hold of your waist, swiftly flipping you on your stomach, so he could pull your hips up for your lower body’s weight to rest on your knees. “Look at these hips, fuck…”
He pushed his cock into you again, taking the air away from your lungs as he resumed his relentless pace. “So fucking perfect… So breedable and ready for me”.
The hold his hands had on your hips was firm, strong, his fingers dug on your skin, and the fullness of your flesh gave him plenty of leverage to grip you tightly and push you back to meet his thrusts. “You’ll carry my pups so well, love. So fucking well. You’re so fucking perfect”.
You could barely keep your upper body propped up on your elbows, grabbing handfuls of the sheets to keep yourself mildly grounded. You honestly couldn’t do anything other than moan and whine and whimper his name. His hand sneaked around your hip to rub circles on your clit. You were sensitive from your previous orgasms still, added to the stretch of his monster cock, his fingers on that bundle of nerves between your legs had you almost seeing stars as soon as he started to stimulate it.
The sudden sting between your legs brought your senses back to reality, only enough to remember what alpha males experienced when they were going through their rut, something you had read once, and when you’d asked Chris about it he had blushed profusely and walked away from you, leaving you hanging.
“Chris!” You whimpered, feeling the extra stretch steadily growing within your walls.
“It’s okay, pretty girl. You can take it, I know you can”, his fingers on your clit sped up impossibly faster, rubbing you for a while, building your release once again only for you to finally come crashing down.
His hips stuttered with the feel of your walls spasming around him, and by the way your walls stretched around his length, by the way his knot kept catching at your entrance as it grew, you figured he was getting close to his own climax. Chris leaned over you, with his chest against your back and his hand pressed your lower belly, lightly gripping your soft skin, he whispered in your ear. “Take my knot, baby. I know you can take it in your perfect little cunt. I’m gonna stuff you full of my pups soon and you’ll take it all, yeah?”
“Y–yes…” Your voice was hoarse, barely even loud enough for yourself to hear, but Chris heard you. There was no way he wouldn’t hear you when he was so close to you, when you might as well had been one and the same at this very moment. A low, drawn out growl reverberated against your back when he finally came, when he finally shoved his knot as deep as he could within your walls for his seed to fill you up.
It felt like he was coming for an eternity, his cum spurted endlessly from his cock while he rubbed his face on your shoulder, your neck, your back, mumbling ‘mine, all mine, my pretty girl, all for me…’ nonstop, mumbling the words like he didn’t even need to think about them, like it was all he could focus on while he filled you to the brim. A ringing broke free in your ears, your whole body ached and you felt truly stuffed completely full by the time Chris finally stopped coming.
Wrapping an arm around your waist, he manoeuvred your bodies, taking special care to not let his knot pull too much while you moved. He laid you both on your side, this position allowed you to feel less of that pulling sensation between your legs, leaving only a dull ache that seemed to ease the longer you spent laying there in his arms. Even if you were achy and in a bit of pain, you couldn’t help but feel immensely satisfied, oddly proud of yourself after taking this much.
Chris pressed pecks on your shoulder, just as he caressed the soft skin of your lower belly while he whispered words of encouragement on your skin–‘you took me so well, baby. So, so well, I’m so lucky, you’re so good to me…’ He did this for a while, a while of his lips trailing kisses from your shoulder to your neck and back again, a while of goosebumps rising on your skin wherever he touched. His soothing, caring motions made your eyelids heavy, almost lulling you to sleep.
“I’m sorry, baby…” Chris mumbled against the skin of your shoulder, pulling you back from that semi-asleep state you were falling into.
You sought his arm, gently caressing him, and you felt goosebumps of his own raise under your touch. “Why are you apologising?”
“For… For having you go through this”, he sounded apologetic, ashamed, even, and you didn’t like it one bit.
You scoffed, almost offended. “Don’t let it get to your head, babe, but this is probably the hottest sex I’ve ever had”.
Chris laughed, incredulous. “Fuck, I don’t know who’s crazier here, me or you”, he was starting to sound more like his every day self, and it made you smile. It made you feel all warm and fuzzy, just how you always felt whenever you spent time with him.
“Clearly me. I’m the one who begged a fucking werewolf to fuck me”, you chuckled, as did Chris.
A comfortable silence settled between you two, you took his hand in yours, bringing it close to your mouth so you could press kisses on his palm, his fingers, all while he kept kissing your shoulders, your neck… A comfortable silence spent just cuddling each other, enjoying each other’s warmth and each other’s company.
You were silent for a while, until a question popped in your head suddenly, and curiosity wouldn’t let you just keep it to yourself. “Isn’t it too soon for you to start your rut? I remember you telling me about the previous one, it wasn’t that long ago, only a handful of months, no?”
“It was supposed to start later this month, which is why I was still in the house…” During his last rut, Chris had left the flat for a few days to stay at one of the vacant flats in the building–something he and the rest could do thanks to an arrangement Changbin had with his parents–that was actually how you came to know about ruts in the first place.
Burying his face in your neck, Chris inhaled deeply, letting out a content sigh right after. “Since my rut was so close, I guess your ovulation triggered it”, he chuckled, but his body suddenly tensed. He removed his hand from your hold so he could lay his palm flat on your lower belly, and when he spoke he sounded slightly panicked. “Shit… Fuck, I’ll get you the morning after pill”.
That made you laugh, loudly. “Are you for real? After all that talk about breeding me and me carrying your pups?”
“That’s… It’s a biological thing, okay?” Embarrassment clung to his voice, and it made you chuckle softly. “I’m on my rut, of course all the wolf wants is to breed you. I mean, I can’t blame him, look at these hips, fuck…” He took a hold of your hip, the soft flesh dipped under his hold when he gripped it tightly. When he finally released it, he caressed the area.
“But I… Uh… I haven’t even taken you on a date yet! We can’t have children like this”, he tapped his fingers on your hip, just as his lips resumed their motions, pressing soft pecks on your shoulder.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea either”, sure, it was hot while you fucked, but now that you can actually think like a person you knew he was right, and you decided to come clean. “Anyway, just so you know, I’m on birth control. The one that makes you ovulate still apparently”, you chuckled softly, and you felt Chris’ body relax behind you.
Chris hummed against your skin. “Lucky me… You do smell so good. You always do, but fuck, this week… Unbearable. Had me hard most of the time, could barely hide it. Can’t believe you didn’t even notice, it’s not exactly easy to hide…”
“I can’t believe you’ve been fucking scenting me all week”, you chuckled.
“Babe, don’t think ill of me, but I started scenting you a month after you moved in…”
You blinked a few times, and you wished you could look him in the eyes right now. “What? Why?”
He mumbled something against your skin, something you couldnʼt quite catch. “What was that?”
Chris sighed, wrapping his arm around your waist and pressing you further into him. “I said… I couldn’t stand when you came home smelling of other men… I couldn’t stand thinking of them doing things with you, to you, that I wished I could do…”
A blush spread over your cheeks, and you were honestly unable to say anything other than a barely audible ‘oh…ʼ
“So, yeah. I’ve, uh… I’ve liked you for a long time, if you couldn’t tell…”
Slowly, you noticed how his knot started to deflate, and his seed started to pour out of you and onto the mess of clothes under you. “Shit… My laundry”, you chuckled, honestly not caring much about having to wash another load. “I like you, too, Chris. A lot”.
He hummed, further burying his face in the back of your neck as his knot deflated completely, allowing you to move freely again. “I can’t believe you had your clothes here on your bed like this, fuck… Almost gave me a heart attack”.
“Why?”
Chris propped himself on an elbow, and he pressed a kiss to your forehead before he moved over you and off of the bed. “Because, pretty baby”, he stretched his limbs, groaning a bit, giving your eyes the opportunity to roam every single defined muscle on his body. A sight that you really appreciated. “With your scent as sweet as it was, and you wearing my hoodie, it was almost like you had prepared a pretty little nest for me to fuck your brains out in”.
You had completely forgotten about nests and what they meant to wolves, and you felt heat immediately come to your face, blushing profusely. “Oh…”
“Subconsciously, it’s almost like you did”, Chris chuckled, giving you a quick kiss on the lips. “Stay here in your pretty nest, little one. I’ll prepare something for you while I can still think like a man. I don’t think I’ll be able to when my rut hits me fully. Need to keep hydrated and well fed so you can take me this well each time”.

Thinking about Succubus!Reader who appears in Ghost's room a few hours before dawn 🫦
You always get summoned to the loneliest individuals among mortal men, and never meet the same male twice (otherwise they would know it wasn't, in fact, simply a wet dream)
But this male is not like the others…
He's wearing a mask in his sleep, and the skull reminds you of the familiar horrors you sometimes see on your plane. He is both scary and inviting, truly a sight for sore eyes, strong and burly, sleeps naked, like lonely men almost always do. He's already hard, and stirring in his sleep – it doesn't matter that he's fully awake because he will think it's only another dream when he wakes up.
This man doesn't say anything as you climb on top of him, only welcomes you by grabbing your hips with hard, demanding hands. He adores you openly with his stare as if you're some rare treat that dropped in his lap and he's not going to ruin his luck by asking questions.
His cock is broad and blunt, just like the rest of him. Due to your powers you can feel his loneliness and pain, the depth of hollow sorrow inside him. He's like a dried well, waiting for a summer rain that never comes.
But when you take him inside and start to ride him, you can feel something else: a wave of hope, even a flicker of mirth. It's like a drop of warm milk in a pool of a dark, murky pond.
You know you have the power to bring brief moments of happiness to these mortals through copulation. You're a dream, a fantasy, a connection deeper than years of any dedicated bond, but the emotion inside this man swells to such painful heights that it causes you to cry out in pleasure and pain.
He grips you harder as you ride him through the waves of ecstasy, the strong hips under you buck up as he tries to get deeper inside the sanctuary only you can provide. You're used to taking men, riding them until they beg under you, but this time, you have to take support of his broad chest.
This man in a skull mask takes you – and you succumb to his lead like a supple young demon, watching how the plates of his chest tense with exertion under your palms. The dark eyes hold you captive like he's the demon here.
He gifts his seed with a deep, anguished roar; it erupts from under the skull and sends ripples across your scalp, and even if you don't possess the gift of reading minds, you can almost hear this mortal's thoughts: fucking hell you feel good, so tight and wet around him, soft and bloody sweet there on top if him, giving him the night of his life…
He holds you after as you lie on top of his strong body, limp and soft and purring. His pain is diluted now, the warm milk spreads inside the pond, and you feel the thick, calloused pads of his fingers caress your spine and neck. You breathe in sync like you've always belonged together, here, just like this.
Dawn is upon you, and the laws of this world and yours demand that you go back. You never tell the males that you're about to leave: it would be useless to listen to their pleas. But this time, you feel the desperate need to explain yourself, or at least say something and not just vanish like it was all just a dream.
"I have to go," you whisper in his language – you haven't talked in ages and are surprised at how smooth your voice sounds; like warm, soothing music.
His grip on you tightens, and you feel a fleeting sadness and despair, far deeper than any words can convey.
"Stay for a bit," he asks; his voice is deep, gravelly, almost like a soft command. You know without tapping into his emotions that you're the first being this man has ever asked to stay.
He's already torn between dream and waking, senses that you're far more real than he originally thought. It's dangerous – you've never, ever stayed this long. No one has ever held you like this after copulating.
You reach to brush your fingertips over the skull, tracing the bone and wishing you could touch his real face. It's also a spell that slowly sends him back to sleep and releases him from your illusion; the woman who slowly dissolves until his arms embrace nothing, until he will wake up holding only himself.
"Don't... go..." is the last thing you hear before he falls asleep, and you fall a thousand miles back to where you came from.
Back on your plane, you feel the first tear in centuries escape the corner of your eye. Your prayer, however, is the first one ever as you beg, beg for anyone who can hear you, to send you back to him, just one more time…
But who would hear the prayers of succubi?

masterlist // chapter 2
—————————————–
When you were younger, your father used to read you stories of dragon nights and fairy princesses, how the night would save the princess from the horrible evils keeping her trapped, confined to her dull world.
When you were eight, the human world was brought into the horrors of the supernatural, a long going war that started years before you were born. It seemed that the humans were just vulnerable enough to be taken advantage of; foot solders that were willing to do anything for money or guarantees of safety. If only the humans knew they were being lied to.
The Queen of the Damned had promised safety and riches, but in turn sent her minions to destroy human villages across the land. Around your thirteenth year, the same year the birthmark on your shoulder darkened, the King of Dragons, King Min, had sent out his armies to rescue any human villages still within the Queen’s realm, including your own.
But he was too late to save your family, crushed under the foot of a giant.
Once the remaining humans from your village were found, you were brought to a village within the King’s realm. One of the general’s had found someone who was willing to take you in, said he was a distant uncle on your father’s side.
You had been there ever since, but it seemed as though the man who took you in had ulterior motives for his kindness. That it needed to be repaid.
“Y/n, it’s time to wake up, the sun is nearly over the hill.” Jinsoo, the eldest of the bunch, was whispering, her hands shaking at your shoulders. You groaned a little but moved to sit up from the cot you shared with Lila on the floor.
You moved gently off the cot, trying not to wake up Lila who had been in charge of dealing with the Lord’s daughter the previous night, bathing her and bringing her late-night snacks. It was a tiring thing, dealing with the children of Lord Ahn, but nothing was worse than dealing with the lord himself.
Once off the cot, you got to your feet and moved over to the hook that held your uniform on it, a simple, cream colored dress and a green apron that tied in the back. You liked that the apron held pockets; the chef sometimes like to sneak the servant’s snacks, like bread and a couple grapes, slipping them in the pockets in passing.
After getting dressed and putting your hair up, you made your way to the main room within the servant’s quarters where the assignments were placed by Lady Ahn. The Lord’s wife had a specific way of upkeeping the manor, and always needed to make sure everything was up to her standards.
And her standards were high, almost unrealistic at times, especially when there were guests in the manor. The Ahn’s liked to entertain guests, mostly other Lord’s and Lady’s that held the same standards as the Ahn’s.
One day you remember having to trim the grass below one of the balconies with a single blade, Lady Ahn claiming that her friend had only wanted to see grass blades of the same height under her balcony. You spent an entire day cutting the blades of grass individually, under the watchful eye of Lord Ahn and his friend.
You had to wait a couple of seconds behind two other girls before you were able to see your name and your assignment. You had been assigned to clearing the Lord and Lady’s room and straightening up one of the guest bedrooms along with laundry, a chore only recently tacked onto your shoulders.
You sighed before deciding that you could wash the laundry first, working on the rooms as you let the cloths dry. You moved back from the assignment board, a couple other girls taking your place before rolling your shoulders and moving towards the laundry baskets. You grab two of them before making your way to the hallway that led to the kitchens, the only entrance to the servant’s quarters.
As you walk down the long hallway, your mind flashes back to the dream you had last night, the same man with the same shoulder length hair that has been keeping you company since you had been brought here. Most of your dreams took place in a flower garden, his hand in yours as he brings you to the center.
He was always silent, but you felt safe with him, unlike something you’ve ever felt before. Every time he looked at you, your cheeks would become red with heat, his eyes anchoring you to him. It made you want to give him flowers, bring him your favorites treasures with the only hope that he would smile at you.
Last night’s dream was something different, though. He was holding you in his arms, something surrounding you as he pressed a kiss to your temple. The atmosphere was warm, and you could feel something wet hitting your shoulder. It left you confused when you woke up, the same feeling of being warm, of being loved sat in your chest, making the rest of your body warm.
The kitchen was already bustling when you walked through the entryway. Greeting the chef and his assistant you move swiftly through the door on the left of the room, leading directly into the dining hall. You never had the pleasure of being assigned the hall, your facial expressions always getting you into trouble. Enough where you had spent over a year learning how to keep your face emotionless. Instead, you were assigned the menial chores of cleaning and “assisting” Lord Ahn in his study.
You move over to the side hallway, just to the right of the doorway you’ve just entered through. It led to the laundry chute and is where the servants held all of the cleaning materials like cloths and the cleaning solution that Hana makes. You can’t help but to roll your eyes when you see the sodden sheets held within the bin that came from the eldest son’s room.
Like his father, the eldest son, Daesung, had a habit of taking the servants into his quarters. Also, like his father, Daesung had a nasty habit of striking out whenever someone told him no. It was learned that it was easier to just let things happen than to risk your life.
You wonder who he took this time, but figured you’d probably find out later that morning when you met the other girls for lunch. It had only been a couple of weeks since you had last seen Daesung, he had only returned the day before after venturing to the next town over, trying to find a wife under Lord Ahn’s command.
Grabbing the supplies you needed and the soiled cloths, you begin to head for the river, since Lady Ahn refused to have you clean the sheets in the sinks. You were lucky not to run into any of the Lord’s family on your way out, your lungs able to breathe easier once you made it outside and away from the prying eyes of the family.
Oddly enough, you loved being outside, where only the trees and the stream could be heard. It helped you be calm, to ease your thoughts and feelings. It was something your mother used to do whenever you got too into your head. She would take you outside, to the lavender patch that resided just outside your small cottage.
“Darling, the earth beneath our feet can do so much more than just grow our food and provide shade from the sun. It can give power to our very souls.” Your mother would tell you as she braided daisies into your hair, something that always managed to calm you down.
“What power, mama?”
“The power to be calm, like the river that runs through the forest. To keep steady even in the face of destruction. But most of all, it gives you the power to live, to face whatever comes your way.” You never understood what she meant, but over time, you realize the peace you felt in the forest was more than enough to understand and take in.
You felt truly at peace when surrounded by the earth and her makings.
And it seemed as though the forest felt the same way, like it listened to your heart beat. You never had trouble walking, unlike your friends who always tripped over roots or broken branches. The flowers you picked always seemed to look the best or give off the strongest scent.
Even now, as you walked down the hill and to the river, the ground seemed to flatten as you advanced. You just figured you and the earth had some kind of understanding with each other.
The river was soothing as you took a seat on the grass, pulling out the bar soap Lady Ahn had you use and the washing board she had brought back from one of her many trips; she claimed it made the cloths extra clean.
It had taken you only an hour to scrub down the sheets and couple of pairs of pants in the basket before you brought them over to the line to hang and dry. Once you had all the wet sheets hung, you grabbed your basket with the washing board and soap and brought them back inside, placing them in the closet before you grabbed your basket of cleaning supplies and made your way upstairs where the Lord and his family had their rooms.
You tried to be as quiet as you could, not wanting to deal with the family this morning, at least, more than you needed to. Once you reach the top of the stairs, you move to the end of the hallway, on the right, and knock on the door. You wait, not receiving an answer, and decide its empty and thus safe to go on.
Another soft sigh leaves your lips when you see the sheets on the ground and clothing hanging off the end of the love seat near the wall. You already know you’re going to have to make your way back down to the river.
You heft the basket onto the floor before moving to the sheets. You use the bottom of one of Lady Ahn’s dresses to grab onto the sheet to put down the laundry chute, grabbing the rest of the items on the floor and doing the same thing. You begin to straighten up the furniture before moving back to your basket, picking out the cleaning solution and a rag before wiping down the dresser, night table, and the bed frame.
Once this was done, you move to the linen closet and grab an extra pair of bedding and begin to make the bed. When you bend over the bed to straighten out the bottom sheet, you feel a hand grab at your butt.
You jump and turn around to see Lord Ahn behind you, a smile on his lips as he looks down at you.  You stand up, dropping the sheet from your hands as you bring them around to claps behind your back.
“I see the new uniforms fit nicely.” Lord Ahn looked you up and down, even moving your apron out of the way so he could see your figure in the dress. You bit your cheek as his hand brushed against the side of your breast.
“You should say thank you. We didn’t have to get you new clothes. Hmm?” Lord Ahn’s smile turns up, cheek pushed upwards as he winks at you. You take a deep breath in before speaking the words you know he wants to hear.
“Thank you, Lord Ahn. Your kindness is appreciated.” The words leave your lips, rehearsed and repeated so many times that they tumble out of your mouth on command. The smile he gives at your words is big and genuine. He is beyond happy at the training he has given the servants.
“Now, why don’t you let me see what you look like without them, hmm?” Lord Ahn hums again, reaching for the back of your apron to untie. You don’t move, just tighten your grip on your laced hands as he unties the string. Once the apron is loose, he moves to pull it over your head when the door to the room opens, Lady Ahn and one of the male servants, Minho, stands on the other side.
You relax, knowing the Lord isn’t going to do anything with his wife nearby. She hates what her husband and son do but doesn’t care if she doesn’t know. The Lord drops his hands from the apron, and takes a step back from you, winking again before turning around.
“Uhm, Lord Ahn, there is someone outside causing a ruckus. He is yelling for you and keeping us from doing our duties.” Minho lets out, his body standing tense and still as he does.
“Yes, darling, the man is becoming a nuisance and I would like him dealt with.” Lady Ahn gestures for her husband, pulling him away from you as she gives you a dirty glare, one that means you were going to be on midnight duty that night.
You stand still, waiting until you were the only one left in the room before retying your apron around your back and finishing the room before you experience any more unwanted or unneeded disturbances.
It took a little longer since you were interrupted, but you managed to finish it quickly, remaking the bed, cleaning the windows and even going outside to pick flowers for Lady Ahn’s bedside table, hoping to appease her a little. You didn’t want to deal with Lady Ahn, claiming you were going after her husband again.
Once you were done with the Lord and Lady’s room, you moved to the guest bedroom at the other end of the hall, preparing it for the guests who were supposed to be coming the next morning.
When you entered the room, you were shocked by the appearance of Lady Ahn. She was sitting in the small chair that resided to the left of the window. You remined silent as you watched her acknowledge your presence, getting to her feet and making her way to you.
“Now, we have a special visitor coming later and I want this room to be perfect. Grab the good candles from my closet, and the silk linens from our special collection. If the room is not up to my standards, or the standards of our guest, you can kiss your life here goodbye. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes, my Lady.” You bow your head slightly, waiting for her to let you know you could go. But she doesn’t, instead, Lady Ahn walks out of the open door behind you, not another word sent your way.
“Okay…” You let out, once you were sure that no one could hear you. You begin to clean the guest room the same way you always would, following the word of the Lady and using her good silk linens and grabbing three candles from her closet. You placed one either side of the bed and one on the dresser across from the bed.
Once you figure the room was clean to Lady Ahn’s standards, you move back to the first floor and to the closet, putting your basket away and moving to grab the laundry you had pushed down the chute earlier. You make sure to try and grab some gloves, not wanting to touch any of the sheets or clothing from the Lord’s room.
The river was starting to warm up, but still cold as you sat again by the river. You had flashbacks to finding Mela’s body at the bottom of the hill, the sunlight coming through the trees almost the same as the day you found her. You remember the way Lila had cried out, rushing towards the body of your friend and bedmate, your own body frozen in shock.
The body had started to come up in your dreams, even going as far as to be awaiting you and the mystery man in the garden. You remember the way Lord Ahn’s face had turned when you and Lila had gone to him, to inform him of what they had found. The way he smiled is seared into your retina, the words his spoke imprinted into your brain.
“Why don’t you two get back to work.”
He cared nothing for your friend and it had you questioning if he was the one who had done it, but there was nothing you could do. You had nothing outside of the manor. You knew no one would take you in, let you have a job or place to stay. Not during the war raging on outside of the walls. So, you listened, continued on with your chores despite the spiral your brain had taken.
You shook your head as you got out the soap from the bottom of the basket, rubbing against the washing board you had rested against the side of the river. You had to be quick, quiet as you worked. The woods were becoming increasingly dangerous over the past couple months.
Stories of trolls and ghouls making their travels to the neighboring villages. You didn’t want to alert anyone or anything of your presence, even the animals waking from their slumber.
Your mind turned back to a time when you were in school, around the age of seven or eight, learning about the beginning of the war. Your teacher had an entire weeklong lesson on the creatures the Queen was known to utilize, putting the most emphasis on the Ghoul.
A ghoul was a reanimated body filled with the magical essence of the caster who brought it back. They were basically dead bodies filled with magic instead of a soul. Their eyes were uncharacteristically white, irises and pupils gone. Skin grey and ashen, almost see through as their bodies had begun to decompose.
Ghouls were also exceptionally well at sensing humans. Their bodies were attuned to the heartbeat of what they used to be, and they fed on the flesh of their past. It was thought that they could hear or smell a human from miles away.
Your teacher had tried to drill into your head that your safety was only ensured if you remained silent, something that stuck with you, even to this day. It was something that served you well, kept you alive as you went through your days under Lord Ahn and his reign.
“Y/n!” You turned your head, seeing Taemin coming to a stop, leaning on his tree to catch his breath. “Are you almost done? Lord Ahn is wanting all of us to come back to the manor. He seems upset.” Your eyes widen in fear, scrambling to gather the half-washed cloths and washing board, getting to your feet.
“Do you have any idea what happened?” You asked your friend as you both ran back up the hill and to the manor.
“No. All I heard was that Jeongmin can rushing out of his room with bruises all over her face.” You sigh out, knowing he could be mad at anything. Poor Jeongmin just had to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You wonder if she refused him, even with you and the other girls telling her to go along with it for her own safety.
Jeongmin was one of the newer girls, acquired after her home village was set ablaze during a battle between King Min’s army and the ghouls who had been sent by the Queen to torment.
“Is she okay?” You ask, worried for the younger girl.
“Hana is with her, helping her clean up and put medicine on her cuts.” Oh, that meant Lord Ahn was exceptionally upset. He typically didn’t leave any marks like that, not in anger at least.
“Well, let’s hurry. We don’t want to give him any more reasons to be angry.” You breathe out, picking up your pace with a tight hold on the basket. Your heart was beating into your throat as you picked up your pace, almost smashing into the back door; you weren’t allowed to use the front door for any reason.
Pushing through the back door next to the servant’s quarters, you hastily set your laundry basket down on the kitchen counter, not surprised when you find the room empty. You rush through the room, almost knocking Taemin down as your hips bump together. Once you get out of the kitchen and through the dining hall, you race to the end of the line of servants and workers, just barely making it before Lord Ahn begins to speak.
“Now, it has come to my…attention,” You watch as his eyes cut over to a silently crying Jeongmin, her hands crossed in front of her stomach and her head bowed. “that a few of my loyal workers have decided to go against my rules and wishes of remaining pure and have had relations with each other.”
Your eyes go wide at the information he was spouting. It was a common thing amongst the workers to have relationships and be intimate while off duty and in the quarters. You knew a few of your friends who were in relationships, including Minho, Taemin, and Lila. You yourself hadn’t really done anything with another person, to worried about being caught and consequently losing your home and livelihood. You can only pray that Jeongmin wasn’t forced to tell the Lord any names.
“You all know the rules, that I don’t expect much when you come into my household.” Lord Ahn’s voice had become deeper, darker as he spoke making your breath hitch, trying not to move. He was now moving down the hall where you all were lined up, looking everyone in the eyes as he spoke.
He was no almost in front of you, eyes looking you and Taemin up and down, probably wondering why you were late to this household meeting. He opened his mouth to say something else when the far off sound of one of the villages sirens went off, leading to the one closer to the manor to go off.
It was like a whirlwind of panic resounded throughout the hall, you being the first to move from the line, hoping to bolt outside when Lord Ahn’s arm shot out and held onto your arm, his fingers dangerously close to your breast as he pulled you closer to him.
“Where do you think you are going?” His lips were close to brushing against your own as he moved in. You could feel Taemin move closer to you, ready to pull you from your master’s bruising grip.
“That is the unhuman siren, sir.” You retort back, trying your hardest to control your tone as you spoke, your face emotionless from years of practice. You knew better.
“And? I did not give anyone permission to move from their spots in line.” He snaps back, pushing you away from him and you would have fallen if Taemin had not caught you and helped you steady yourself.
“Now, this is a new development. Since you all seem to think the agreements we made when you first got here are null, I think it’s time you learn your lessons.” Lord Ahn begins to move back, towards the split in the hallway that would lead him to the front door.
“You all can remain here, know what it means to be wards of Lord Ahn. Keep my manor clean, as I’m still sure we can be expecting our esteemed guest soon. My family and I will go and see what is going on.” The same smile he wore when he was taking advantage of you was worn on his lips, the glint in his eyes meaning he knew exactly what was going on outside of the manor.
He planned to trap you in here and save himself and his family. You were in shock. You looked back at Taemin, wondering if he heard and saw what you did, only for his mouth to be open, eyes matching yours.
“Jinyoung, Hanmin, come. I’m sure my family and I will need help.” You watch the two larger men walk forward, hearing them grumble under their breathes as they walked past you.
Once the three men were out of hearing distance, you turned to look for Jinsoo, but you didn’t see her. You can only assume she is assisting Lady Ahn. Hana, the second eldest, begins to reassure the rest of us that nothing was going to happen, that we were fine as long as we stayed in the manor. She set about giving us jobs in pairs or groups, picking you to go along with her and finish the laundry in the kitchen sink while she continued the chef’s job.
Once in the kitchen, you notice some of the cupboards open and the counters a mess. You move to one of the open cabinets on your left, seeing it empty instead of filled with the new loaves of bread to cool. Turning around, you see Hana doing the same thing.
“They took all of the food, didn’t they?” You ask, your voice in a shocked whisper as you see the look of defeat on her face. Hana nods her head before schooling her features and turning to where you left the basket of half-washed cloths.
“Here, let’s get you started over here.” She says as she moves over to the sink, turning on the water and putting the washing board in the sink and the soap on the counter. You stood still, your mind still whirling with too many thoughts and memories.
Hana sees this and comes over to you, helping you move to the sink and places a cloth and soap in your shaking hands.
“Here, maybe doing something will get your mind off of it.” Hana knew about your memories, how they always seemed to make you shake and freeze. She kept it quiet because if anyone found out about it, you could be carted off to a men’s home or killed on the stake. You would be more likely to be sent to the stake because you were a woman, something you absolutely despised.
Hana turned around to the other countertop and began slicing the vegetables the chef left on the counter. She was humming a tune familiar to you, something she always hummed when she was anxious or nervous.
“We are not going to make it out of here, are we?” Your voice is shaky, just like your hands. You don’t turn around to see her, so you miss the way a tear drops onto the counter and her hands begin to shake. Hana doesn’t even bother to answer, not wanting to lie to you or get your hopes up.
You spend a couple minutes in silence, listening out for another siren, or even screams when both begin to sound out in front of the manor. The screams sound like they are almost coming from right outside, making you drop the bar soap and scrub brush in your hands.
“Stay here.” You hear Hana say as she turns to you, her hand out to gesture you to keep put before moving towards the dining halls so she could look out the windows on the far wall. You resign to follow her words, until another scream comes from inside the manor. You shoot from the sink and move to the servant’s quarters, running to the safety of your room.
At least, until you see ghouls outside coming towards the back side of the manor from all sides. They could smell you all inside. It was like you were surrounded, more screams from inside the manor breaking out. You noticed some of the men who worked at the manor running away from the ghouls, cries coming from your lips as you see one being dragged to the ground and his arm being bitten into.
A crackling noise has you moving from the small window you were peeking out of. You had no clue where it was coming from, but the noise got louder and louder until you noticed the wooden walls of the room seemed to be pushing inwards from force. A loud, dragged out groan makes you turn toward the door, slowly creeping forward until you were looking out the doorway and into the hall, seeing a shadow figure slowing inching towards you.
You covered your mouth, holding back a sob as you realized you were trapped in the room. You looked around, hoping for any chance or sign of you being able to get out of the room but you didn’t fit through the windows, you’d barley be able to get your thigh through the slot.
You try to remember what your teacher had told you, all those years ago about the different ways to kill those unhumans we might come into contact with. You knew Giants could be killed by dragon fire, or by silver to the head. Trolls could be killed by being bludgeoned to the head or by being buried. And ghouls could only be killed by dragon fire, the opposite magic to that of a witch.
You were screwed unless someone of the royal army came by soon.
Just as you tried to look for some weapon to at least keep the ghoul away from you, you were being buried under the rubble of the roof as the servant’s quarter collapsed. Your vision was blurry as the rubble settled down and you found yourself a couple of feet away from the ghoul who had been in the hallway, its hands and upper body trying to climb out from under the debris.
You were in a similar position, legs stuck beneath one of the stone columns of the side of the main manor that was attached to the wooden walls of the quarters for support. You could move and feel your legs but was unable to life the column from on top of your legs. You pushed all you could, but only managed to move the column the slightest inch.
A couple of loud roars from above had you scrambling, knowing they were going to begin setting fire to the ghouls, and you were going to be caught in the crossfire if you didn’t get your legs out from under the rubble.
You became trapped in tunnel vision, no sound or feelings being noticed as you hyper focused on the column on your leg, using all your might to push it off of you. You didn’t notice the debris flying or any signs of someone coming closer, walking on the rubble until a loud growl came from in front of you and the column went flying.
You looked up to see King Min, having recognized him from one of the posters hung up in the village market. His eyes were red as he hissed through his fangs. You could just make out the outlines of his wings in the sunlight. He reached forward making you curl back in fear, your body tense as he moves closer.
“Please..” You whimper out, not knowing what the King planned to do, but you felt his hands picking you up, one arm underneath your injured legs and the other hand holding the back of your head, pushing it until your head rested against the juncture between his neck and shoulder.
“Mate.” He whispered into your hair, making your breath catch in the back of your throat. That word has you blinking away even more tears, caused by what, you have no clue as a slew of emotions moved through you. Your fingers moved to grip his button down, a few of the buttons popping loose as he moved, making you grip tighter onto the fabric.
King Min moves quickly, walking out of the rubble and into the trees, a clearing by the river coming into the view as he shifts, his wings breaking out from the back of his shirt, the rest of his shirt now loose in your grip as he begins to fly away to a place unknown to you.
-*-*-
Yoongi was already having a bad day, under the watchful eye of his best friend and personal guard Namjoon. He woke up to notices of that damned Queen setting ghouls onto two of the villages that lay on the outer ring of his kingdom.
He was about an hours flight from either of the villages, and his advisor Seokjin, had talked to one of his father’s appointed Lord’s and set him up for the night to investigate the scenes with some of his royal guard accompanying him.
His magical advisor was named Jimin, and he had been rescued by Yoongi’s father when he was a little boy, left to die after his family abandoned him during a raid. He was one of the people going with him to see the villages, as he could sense the magical signature left behind.
He almost never went to actually investigate anything in his kingdom, too busy to leave the castle most days, but for some reason Seokjin was insistent on Yoongi going along, with Jimin bribing him special citrus pies. So, Yoongi set his work aside or gave some to Seokjin, and took the next two days off, setting off in the late morning to the first village.
The first village was completely decimated, ghouls and golems sent to destroy and ravage through the land. He even found a few left over golems still trying to use a hammer to smash a fountain. He had Namjoon burn them and Jimin found their magical signature to lead to one of the warlocks who previously managed to get away from them a week ago.
It was now early afternoon, and he along with his guard were moving to the second village when he received the alert form a scout that another village was in the beginning of being attacked by ghouls.
Yoongi gave the okay to move quickly, hoping they could prevent any more lives lost. Within five minutes he could feel his soulmark burning, letting out a painful roar as he dipped low. As they got closer to the new village, he realized it was the one he was supposed to be staying at that night, and that there was a new scent making him want to release control to his inner dragon and drag the scent to his den.
He knew his mate was close, and for the first time, he was eager to find them. Consequences be damned as he flew faster, urging himself to push through the pain from his mark. He knew his mate was in danger and he needed to be quick.
Yoongi followed the scent of honey and almond, ignoring the saliva building in the back of his throat. What it led to had the fire now building in his throat as he witnessed the ghouls had already destroyed most of the village, half eaten bodies laying in various positions on the ground.
He chased after the scent of his mate, finding the manor he was supposed to stay in mostly intact, but when he went around, he saw a wooden building had been destroyed, fire now moving slowly over the wreckage.
He roared again when he found his mate trapped under a broken column and a ghoul only feet away from her. He would have cried in any other situation, meeting his mate finally, but now, now all he wanted to do destroy anything in his path…once he made sure his mate was safe.
He saw you moving, arms pushing with all your might as your face turned red, trying to dislodge your legs from under the column. He got so mad he growled out, pushing the column off your leg and listening to it shatter against a tree a hundred yards away.
When you were freed, it was like you only just realized he was in front of you. He recognized the look of fear and recognition on your face but ignored it and moved forward, his only instinct right now was to make sure you were safe, in his arms, and away from the dragon fire coming this way.
“Please…” His eyes almost rolled into the back of his wings as he finally heard your voice, as sweet as the scent you gave off. He just continued forward, picking you up and pushing your head into his neck, hoping you would be comforted by his own scent.
“Mate.” He couldn’t help but whisper into your hair, as if his inner dragon was speaking through him, verbally confirming what he already knew.
Yoongi ignored the way your fingers tightened on his shirt, watching as the top button popped off and flew into the rubble. He moved away quickly, holding you steady as he fumbled on the rubble and through the grass, trying to get to the clearing as quickly as he could. He knew any second his guard was going to start setting fire to kill all the ghouls.
Once the clearing comes into view, he let his wings form from the marks on his back, half way shifting so he could still hold his little mate tight to his chest, His shirt was now loose against his mate’s grip, he ignores the tingles coming from where your skin connects with his, embarrassed at the small moan he had to choke back.
He didn’t notice when you fainted, your grip still tight on his shirt. He didn’t wait for his guard; he just began to fly back to the castle. He needed for the royal doctor to see you. Yoongi didn’t like the look of the bruises across your legs, or the ones showing from the torn sleeve of your dress.
Every jostle he felt, another groan left your lips, making him wince. It was like he couldn’t fly fast enough, the burning he felt in his wings was nothing compared to the burning he felt in his soulmark.
He swooped down onto the landing outside his room once he got to the castle and held you tighter as he moved to the medical wing, yelling for his head healer. He quickly moved to the royal medical suite and placed you on the bed. He stayed close to your side, rustling the blankets and pillows to make you comfy, unknowingly making you a little nest like his instincts told him to.
Yoongi stood by your side, watching the door carefully as soon as he heard footsteps rushing towards them. His lips were pulled up in a snarl, eyes still burning red as his instincts screamed at him to protect his new mate. He could feel his claws extending as the door opens, his body still rung tight even as he sees his head healer walk in.
“Your Majesty, we were not expecting you back so…” The healers’ words drift off once he sees you in the bed, the nest made around your body, and the way the King stood next to you, his dragon features out.
“Oh my.” The healer breathes out, taking a couple of steps closer until he is about a foot away, freezing when Yoongi lets out a warning growl.
“Please, your Majesty, if you want me to heal her Majesty, I need to be able to get closer.” The healer waited before seeing the slightest of nods sent his way, moving slowly as he knew any sudden movements would set off the already tense and upset dragon king.
The healer took a good look at your legs, asking the King to gently move them so he could see the extent of the damage, knowing if he touched you, he would be dead in an instant. He noticed you had some bruising and cuts along the front of your calves, and that there seemed to be no permanent damage. Once he had Yoongi put your legs down, Yoongi pointed to your arms, his dragon having fully taken over once the healer walked in.
The healer noticed the bruising on your arms, scared for whoever caused the marks.
“It seems, your Highness, that someone had grabbed her Majesty tightly. There are handprints right here.” He pointed to the finger marks on your arm, trying not to tense at the low growl that was building in the King’s chest. He was surprised you were still out, but he reasoned you felt comfortable and safe being so close to your mate.
“I will need to give her some ointment and bandage her Majesty’s legs and arm for the bruising.” The healer warns Yoongi, not wanting to do anything to set him off.
The healer worked slowly under the watchful eye of Yoongi, wrapping up the cuts and bruising on your legs and the bruising on your arm before letting Yoongi know that you would need your legs rebandaged in the morning so he can make sure there was no infections but that you could go.
Yoongi relented, not liking the fact that this male was this close to his mate while she was unmarked. His dragon didn’t recognize the healer as safe, so he was on edge and practically flew you back to his room.
Once you were safe in his room, laying in his bed surrounded by his scent, only then could he begin to relax.

part 3: when you forget me
“Who did this to you?”
Staring up into the eyes of the man leaning over you, a shiver runs through your body at the deep, even tone of his voice. For a long moment, you can’t speak, too distracted by the fact that his attention is directed entirely at you.
The dark piercing eyes, the delicate curve of his mouth, the black curly hair hanging over his forehead. It all shocks you still with something you can’t name. Not quite familiarity, but a sense that whoever this man is, it’s a good idea to listen to him.
You sit there choking on your own words as his eyes search your face.
“Are you afraid?” he simply asks.
You nod, tongue dry in your mouth.
His eyebrows furrow slightly. He seems to be staring even deeper into your eyes than before, searching for something.
“Joon,” the man calls, a touch of urgency in his voice.
One of the taller ones, the man with short brown hair, approaches you. And you can’t help but notice his build.
He’s broad with long, thick limbs, no doubt bulked with muscle beneath his many layers. It would be easy for him to overpower you. Hurt you.
Instinctively, you flinch back as he gets closer.
He drops to one knee to meet your eye level, softening his expression when you meet his gaze.
“Hey, hey,” he begins in a calming tone, seemingly sensing your rising anxiety at being confronted. “None of us are going to hurt you. It’s all going to be okay. I promise.”
You don’t believe him. Of course you don’t. But something about his warm eyes, the deep sincerity that lies behind them, makes you release a breath and nod anyway. Or maybe it’s the way that strange feeling in your chest quivers at the sound of his voice.
Offering a slight smile, he then holds up his hands cautiously.
“May I touch your forehead?” he asks.
As if the rhythm of your brain skips a beat, you reel at the question. He's...asking for permission?
You manage a slight nod, watching him closely as he lifts his hands and places one flat against your forehead and the other at the back of your neck.
The others are watching intently, making the air prickle.
Heat blooms under the man’s large hands, spreading down your spine and into your very bones.
Wisps of smoke dance along the edge of your vision. It seems to be coming from him, seeping from his hands, from his mouth, his eyes, which are now clouded over with a milky white film.
A tickling feeling, like the sensation of a string creeping down your throat, seizes your whole body and mind. It’s hot and cool at the same time, singeing your nerve endings yet soothing them as the sensation travels.
Too invasive, it’s too invasive.
It only lasts for a few seconds before you’re jerking out of his grasp. You huff smoke out of your own lungs, desperately trying to expel the strange force that’s permeated your whole body.
Several of the others flinch too. They all seem to be honed in on your every reaction, twitching when you twitch, breath hitching along with yours.
The man withdraws his hands with a placating expression, rising to his feet and backing away to give you some space.
You barely hear it, but he leans over and whispers in Yoongi’s ear.
“We all need to talk. Now.”
You see the smaller man’s jaw clench. His hands ball into fists at his sides, his entire face darkens.
One blink later, and it’s gone, replaced by an expression so heavy, so broken that it nearly brings a sting to your eye.
The only other person Yoongi can bring himself to make eye contact with is Jin.
His hyung understands immediately, letting his eyelids slowly close as all his suspicions are confirmed. He had an inkling, when he found you in that prison cell and you looked at him like he was a stranger. He supposes that now, he essentially is one to you.
It feels like a hit to the gut. He feels the deep ache in the pit of his chest, raw with the knowledge that what’s done can’t be undone. And it hurts like hell.
But he can’t break down now, not in front of the boys, and certainly not in front of you. Your understanding of the situation is extremely fragile right now, and he knows that he needs to lead by example so you can be as comfortable as possible, so you know that you’re safe here with them.
So Jin inhales a clear breath, swallows down his sorrow, and musters up the most composed expression he can manage.
“Alright,” he begins, the whole room looking at him after he breaks the silence, looking for guidance.
“Let’s get you fixed up, hmm?”
You don’t realize that he’s talking to you until he takes a step forward and gestures in your direction.
“Will you follow me?”
You’re realizing that no one is punishing you for making eye contact without permission, so you meet his gaze with a little less hesitation.
The man waits patiently, nothing but gentle concern in his eyes.
Your skin tingles with the feeling of everyone’s gaze on you again, and after your brain slowly processes the question, you rise shakily to your feet and follow him through a nearby doorway.
It’s only after Jin exits the room, after his back is turned, that he lets a few silent tears fall into his sleeve, quick to wipe them away. Because now he needs to do what he does best: heal his clan.
Exhaustion, hunger, and fizzling adrenaline buzz through your veins, your body burned out from running even a short distance. It’s a laborious task to just put one foot in front of the other, but you focus hard to keep up with the man leading you down the hall.
Every step makes your vision blurrier. You can hear your own struggled breathing, feel the burning in your limbs, but the only thing you know how to do is push on and mask how it feels.
Don’t express emotions. Don’t show your pain. It always makes it worse.
Jin pretends not to notice. He has to fight the urge to offer you his arm to lean on, knowing it probably wouldn’t do any good.
You have no idea how long you were asleep or how long you’ve been here, wherever here is. These men don’t seem like a severe threat, at least not now. They haven’t hit you, called you names, spit on you for making noise. But they could be putting on a front, trying to establish a false sense of security.
You’re not letting your guard down anytime soon.
The two of you come to a large, clean room. It’s well-lit, making you squint your eyes against the brightness.
It’s so bright here. And spacious too. Every room seems as wide as a football field.
The man directs you to a bed lined with paper, and you flinch as you sit down, making much more noise than you wanted.
But he doesn’t seem angered by it, he only turns to one of the many cabinets lining the walls.
The familiar squeak and snap of medical gloves. It puts a heavy pit in your stomach. Clenching your teeth, you try to ignore the swell of nausea.
You hear some shuffling, the clink of glass, and then the man is sitting down in a rolling chair next to the bed.
“Do you recognize me?” he asks, slipping a pair of black glasses out of his shirt pocket and putting them on.
A flash of the ashen, vein-mapped face ignites in your memory.
“Yes,” you reply softly, almost flinching at the sound of your own voice in the quiet room.
“Who am I?” He’s looking at you patiently, but there’s a hint of desperation behind it.
“You were in my cell. You’re a—”
Cutting yourself off immediately, you can’t help but recall all the names your captors used to refer to them.
Parasites. Bloodsuckers. Demon spawn.
The man seems to read your mind, but his eyes stay nothing but patient and kind.
“I’m vampiric, yes.”
He busies himself opening a gauze pad and dousing it with disinfectant. When he looks back up at you, it’s with a questioning gaze.
“May I clean your cuts?”
You sit there dumbstruck for a moment. You can’t remember the last time someone cleaned anything for you, let alone asked for permission to do it as if you have some kind of agency. Or spoke to you so...gently.
After a few seconds of silence, you manage a nod.
He offers a slight smile and starts with the shallow cuts and scrapes on your hands. They are overlapped with scars, dirt and dried blood caked under your fingernails.
His touch is warm. It almost makes you jump, the way his skin feels like human skin. You were always told that they were cold creatures, more dead than alive.
Then there’s the alcoholic sting of the disinfectant. That makes you actually jump, but you fight the urge to pull away in case it ends in more pain.
“I’m sorry, it’s going to sting,” he says.
Why is he apologizing? Why is he treating you like this? Like you’re a human and not a creature?
He moves up to the more deep gashes on your arms, applying cream to the worst of them and bandaging them up.
“My name’s Jin. It’s nice to be formally introduced,” the man says, smiling a little painfully.
It hurts him to say it, to admit that he needs to re-introduce himself to you. But at least you’re letting him tend to your wounds. Right now, that’s all he can ask for.
You sit there silently as he moves all the way up to your shoulders, avoiding putting pressure on the deep purple bruises that litter your skin.
“What’s your name?” He knows it, of course he does. And again it hurts to ask, but he knows that this is the best way to go about it, rather than overloading you with the fact that you’ve been here before, that you already know them all.
The question stumps you. You’ve been called many names. Mutt, beast, savage, monster. You don’t remember ever being called anything else.
The man—Jin—seems to sense your inner struggle.
“Can you remember it?” he asks.
With your eyes trained down at the floor, you shake your head.
“Hmm,” he replies, thinking. “Well that just won’t do. What would you like to be called?”
That stumps you even more. Your mind goes as blank as your memory.
Several minutes of silence pass as he tends to the wounds on your neck and face.
The more he looks, the more his blood boils. Your neck is badly bruised, with painful-looking red rub marks all the way around, as if it’s been abused with a number of different things. A tight fist, a ring of rope, a collar.
Your face is covered in scars and yellowing black bruises. Chunks of hair have been ripped from your skull, not to mention that fact that most of your hair has been sloppily cut.
It all makes him want to tear the throats of everyone even associated with that facility. Looking at your face, at the poorly hidden terror that resides in it, Jin tries his hardest to mask his anger so you aren’t frightened by it.
Jin checks for signs of infection while he dabs at the lesions. He notices that you barely flinch, even when it’s clear that you want to. He wonders, feeling sick to his stomach, what happened in that horrifying place.
“You’ve been through a lot of pain,” he says, and you can hear deep sympathy in his voice.
It’s unusual to you, hearing someone sound sorry for you.
You don’t reply, looking down at the floor again.
A few minutes pass, with him continuing to patch up your wounds while you sit there motionless. After Jin finishes the last bandage, he hesitates, looking at you with another question in his eyes.
“Wound you mind removing your shirt?”
It makes you turn cold, arms unconsciously wrapping protectively around yourself.
“No? Okay, we don’t have to do that,” he says almost immediately, shifting his attention to your legs instead.
“Any internal pain or other symptoms?”
You only answer with a dull shake of your head when he looks up at you expectantly.
He raises an eyebrow like he doesn’t believe you for a second.
“It’s okay to tell me. I’m a doctor.”
You still don’t say anything, despite the sharp pain in your stomach and the incessant pounding in your head. Too many times you’ve encountered doctors that did nothing but use their knowledge of your body against you.
The last thing you want to do is admit weakness.
For a very brief moment, Jin’s face flashes with disappointment, and you feel your gut lurch with guilt. The next second he’s gathering more equipment from the cart next to the bed.
“Would you mind if I did a few more basic checks?” he asks.
This time you indulge him with a slight nod, and you’re rewarded with a smile that plumps up his cheeks and makes that something in your chest jump.
He checks your heartbeat, your temperature, your blood pressure, among other things that you don’t recognize.
You accept it all with quiet compliance, still fighting the urge to flinch away with every touch. Because every time he touches you, your heartbeat stalls against your will, heat blazing across the spot where his skin met yours.
He always treats you softly and with compassion, making your eyes burn with the urge to cry.
He removes his gloves after he’s done, tossing them, along with the used gauze, into a bin.
“I’m going to give you some antibiotics to fight infection, and something for your pain,” he informs you.
Again, all you do is sit there silently, head tilted down towards the ground.
Jin fights off a sad frown as he turns to one of the cabinets and shuffles through the many pill bottles. Finding the ones he’s looking for, he empties a few into his hand, grabbing a stray water bottle from the counter.
When he hands them to you, you take them very hesitantly. Your heart rate picks up considerably when he continues to stand there, clearly intent on watching you take them.
Slowly, you take a swig from the bottle and raise your cupped hand to your lips. You feign tilting the contents of your palm into your mouth, swallowing as little of the water as possible in case it too is laced with something. You’ve gotten quite good at pretending to take pills, so he easily believes you.
When he turns around, you spit the water back into the bottle as quietly as you can and tuck the pills into your makeshift pants pocket.
“Alright,” Jin says as he turns back to face you. “Now let’s get you something to eat.”

The air is heavy, sucked dry from the words out of Yoongi’s mouth. The six of them stand there silently, feeling gutted.
Hoseok is the first to string together a comprehensible sentence.
“I...I can’t believe it.”
None of them can. Almost ten years, gone. The years spent living with them, loving them, getting to know them better than anyone else in the world, all wiped away.
You can’t remember essentially growing up with the maknaes. You can’t remember studying spells with Yoongi, nearly surpassing him in knowledge and skill. You can’t remember all the times Jin nursed you back to health after protecting the others in a fight, or when you would explode laughing at one of Hobi’s jokes while still in recovery, Jin snapping at him to knock it off because you’d broken your ribs again.
And all the years spent earning your trust, earning their trust, building your confidence, carving your place in their souls, all gone from your mind.
“How?” Jungkook asks, voice thick with hopelessness.
“A riamemors spell,” Yoongi replies. His arms are crossed as he leans back on the counter, eyes trained on the ground. His expression is unreadable, but they all know that he’s been hit just as hard.
None of them know as much about casting as Yoongi does, not even Namjoon, but almost every Northerner knows what that spell does. It means “death of memories,” and it cannot be reversed.
The F&F has been abusing it for decades. First using it in weak doses on humanic people to keep them ignorant about the realities of atypicals, then using it full potency on atypicals to make them mindless slaves.
They don’t know what that facility was planning on using you for, but clearly they didn’t want you to have your memories to do it.
“How strong?” Taehyung asks. His eyes are glassy, chin wobbling despite his efforts to fight it.
They all look to Namjoon for the answer. One of the abilities of wraiths is delving into a person’s mind through touch, including their memories.
Namjoon’s face holds a deep sorrow. Your head is a very dark place.
“Nearly full strength,” he replies. “We aren’t there. Not at all.”
Half of them feel sick to their stomachs, the other half burn with rage.
“What does she remember?” Jimin asks, eyes glassy.
Namjoon’s jaw clenches.
“A bit from childhood, her parents, and...the facility.”
It looks like it physically hurts him to say it. A long, weighted moment of silence.
“Joon?” Yoongi says, looking up for the first time since they entered the kitchen.
The younger man meets his elder’s gaze, waiting in anticipation for what he will say next. The redness in Yoongi’s eyes makes Namjoon want to hug him.
“What happened there?” Yoongi finally brings himself to ask.
Namjoon’s throat bobs as everyone looks at him once again. It all comes back to him, the pain, the torture, the loneliness felt through your skin. The shadow of it, at least. The memory of it. The real thing must’ve felt much worse.
“Let us see,” Jimin suddenly says, taking an eager step forward.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Jimin,” Namjoon replies, gravely serious.
“It would help us get inside her head, see what she’s dealing with,” he argues, looking around for support.
Taehyung and Jungkook look just as eager, while Hoseok looks tempted by morbid curiosity. Yoongi’s trying not to make eye contact, worried that it might give away the fact that he secretly agrees with Jimin.
Seeing that he’s clearly outnumbered, Namjoon lets out a defeated sigh.
“Alright, but just a glimpse,” he says.
They begin to gather closely around Namjoon, until he holds a hand up.
“Not you, Jimin,” he says sternly.
“Why?” the shorter man whines, upset at being the only one left out.
“I really don’t think you should see this. For your own good.”
Everyone knows that Jimin was briefly imprisoned at a one of the same facilities, and every so often he gets triggered and descends into a rapid downward spiral plagued with nightmares and flashbacks.
He looks around and finds the rest of them looking at him imploringly. When he looks at Hoseok and Yoongi, they both give him a silent nod.
Jimin sighs and lets his shoulders sag. Despite the itch of not knowing, he trusts his partners to take care of him.
“Okay, hyung,” he says, stepping away to stand at the edge of the room.
Namjoon takes a deep inhale when they’ve all huddled in a semi-circle around him. Smoke begins to unfurl from his hands, his eyes clouding over. When he opens his mouth, a thick stream of gray vapor pours from his lips.
Everyone leans over to breath it in while Jimin covers his mouth and pinches his nose.
They feel it burn down their throats and warm their lungs, singeing all along their veins until it reaches the depths of their minds.
Then their vision goes dark, eyes clouding over just like Namjoon’s. Cold fear crawls up their spines, the ghost of hunger sitting in their bellies.
A thousand images, feelings, and sensations flash through them.
Countless miserable nights sleeping on hard, wet stone. Being wakened with a bucket of freezing water. Gagging on rotten food scraps to soothe the never ending ache of starvation.
A slap to the face every time you looked at an overseer without permission. Because you are beneath them, not even worthy to see the color of their eyes.
A kick to the ribs every time you made a single sound, every time you even breathed too loud.
The sting of needles, the heat of an iron brand. Electric shocks right to the nerve endings when you fell asleep without permission. Cigarettes stubbed out on your skin.
A spit in the face. Spit in your food, then being forced to eat it because it’s all you have. Having to lick water droplets off the rusted pipes.
Open wounds, tender bruises. An ache so deep it feels like you were born with it. Chained in awkward, uncomfortable positions for hours on end.
Disgusting thing. You are nothing. You will never leave this place. You disgrace the ground you walk on. I wish I could kill you myself.
Jungkook rips away first. He heaves the smoke out with violent, forceful breaths, stumbling back like it will distance him from what he’s seen.
Hoseok and Taehyung follow soon after, jerking away as they try to cough the memories out.
Yoongi lingers the longest. When he finally pulls away, his eyes are brimming with moisture.
None of them can hold it in any longer. Taehyung bursts into tears, face scrunching up with the weight of it all. He turns to the one closest to him, which is Jungkook, and lets his head fall on his on shoulder.
Jungkook automatically puts a comforting hand on his head, fighting back tears himself.
Seeing someone they love go through all that, seeing them get treated like dirt, it hurts it hurts it hurts.
Hoseok nearly bites through his tongue. All he can think about is revenge, making the ones who did this to you regret it more than they’ve ever regretted anything in their lives.
Jimin feels like he might throw up. Not because he’s in pain, but because he’s seeing his mates in pain, so much pain. And their pain pales in comparison to yours.
He’s grateful to Namjoon, grateful that he didn’t let him see inside your head.
Jungkook’s chest hiccups with sobs, and Jimin takes hold of Taehyung so Jungkook can fold up against Hoseok.
Tae buries his head in the fold of Jimin’s neck. Hoseok wraps Jungkook in a bear hug to soothe his hitching breaths.
Yoongi, who’s held strong up until this point, finally succumbs and lets himself go limp in Namjoon’s hold, who was right behind him in case he should need him.
For several minutes, the air is filled with nothing but heart-wrenching cries and quiet snivels.
“It’s okay, it’s okay, she’s safe now,” Namjoon says to no one in particular, still supporting Yoongi’s weight.
Jungkook’s gaze has gone foggy. The hell of that place won’t get out of his head. All he can think of is how he wasn’t there, he wasn’t there to take the pain instead. It should’ve been him.
Taehyung’s balling like a baby, he couldn’t speak if he tried to. His chest is close to bursting, swollen with so many emotions that he can’t decide which ones hurt the most. The pain of knowing what you went through, the rage towards the ones responsible, the guilt of not being there to protect you, the sorrow of knowing that he’s a stranger to you now.
Jimin is torn between breaking down himself and being strong for his mates. He feels the pressure behind his eyes, but he blinks it away and holds Taehyung tighter, rubbing soothing circles on his back.
“Why?” Tae asks in a broken voice, finally saying what they’re all thinking.
Why would anyone do this?
“They must’ve not wanted her to know what she was capable of,” Namjoon answers.
It makes sense. You were a skilled caster along with Yoongi, the spells you and him collaborated on were some of the most powerful they’d ever seen. You were incredibly knowledgeable after spending years studying alongside Namjoon, partnering with him during many of his research projects.
You were always sharp, strong, and absolutely deadly in your final form.
“What are we going to do?” Jungkook asks, barely above a whisper.
“What we’ve always done,” Yoongi replies almost instantly, shifting to fully support his own weight. “We’re gong to do what’s best for her.”
Seeing him regain his quiet composure gives the rest of them the strength to wipe the last of their tears away.
“She’s been kept in isolation, starved...tortured.”
They all hear the catch in Yoongi’s voice at the word.
“Her trust in people has been completely broken. It will take some time before she feels safe again, before she can handle a normal diet, before she’s comfortable with being touched.”
That part is going to be difficult for most of them. After all the years of hand holding, cuddling, all the comforting embraces, it’s going to be hard to refrain from trying to soothe you with physical touch.
“No doubt she’s overwhelmed and confused as it is,” Yoongi says, then he pauses like he’s gearing up to say something difficult.
“So I think it’s best if we don’t overwhelm her further by telling her who we are. At least not now.”
Silence. Uncomfortable, choking silence.
“Just...pretend we haven’t met before?” Hoseok says, disbelieving.
“Not pretend, just...don’t acknowledge it,” Yoongi says. “Right now, we’re just a group of strangers that whisked her away from everything she ever knew.”
“We don’t even know how much she knows about what we are. Everyone knows standard protocol for those places is extended brainwashing,” Namjoon adds.
That makes them stop and think. What does she know about atypicals? Did they make you despise them like Southerners do? Do you even know about the soul bond? Do you even know what you are?
“Won’t that make her feel lied to?” Jimin asks.
“I assume she’d feel more lied to if we tried to convince her that she’s known us for years. It might make her feel like we’re trying to trick her into trusting us,” Namjoon explains.
“It might pressure her into trying to remember things she can’t, to be the person she used to be,” Jungkook says, eyes still glazed over.
And all of them know that you’ll never be the person you used to be.
“She has to trust us on her own, not because we tell her that she should,” Yoongi asserts.
Another stretch of silence.
“For how long?” Tae asks.
“Not for long, just until she feels safe here. Until she decides that she want to stay here, Yoongi continues.
“I don’t know,” Taehyung says. He doesn’t know if he can pretend that you’re not his mate, like you aren’t a vital piece of him.
“We’ll just take it day by day,” Hoseok begins, seeming more convinced by the whole idea. “Right now, our biggest priority should be making her feel safe.”
Nods all around.
“What...” Jimin starts, voice trailing off with uncertainty. “What if she wants to leave?”
None of them can think of a reply to that.
The next second, footsteps sound from the hallway. The shifters can smell you coming, and you no longer stink of dried blood.
Jin rounds the corner, closely followed by your sluggish form, looking exhausted and shaky.
A jolt of fear in your chest from being confronted by all of them again, and the rest of them feel it in the pit of their hearts. The fact that their own mate feels endangered by them, in your own home, elicits a fresh sting.
There’s moment of dull quiet where nobody moves, too afraid to make a wrong move.
Yet again, their leader guides them in the right direction.
Namjoon steps forward with a warm smile on his face, slouching his shoulders to look less tall and threatening in your eyes.
“You must be hungry.”

Namjoon pov
Tumblr media
I stood inside of a small boat house, Bridd’s scent faint, but I knew it was fresh. At least I could give Jimin that. Hoseok said to take a look around outside and try to follow it. I sighed. I had already done that. I had done it yesterday as well, but Jimin demanded I go back to double check. Today’s assessment was much better than yesterday's so I was able to pick up the subtle nuances within it. She had been standing where my feet were planted no more than 48 hours earlier.
“She’s long gone,” Hoseok’s voice was clear in my head despite him being five miles away. “Wonder where she went.”
“Taehyung said something about Viridi Gramine,” Hyuna chimed in. She had been relatively quiet, her thoughts only focused on catching any sign of Bridd. “Do you think she’s headed that way?”
“Doubtful,” I followed the trail from the small cot on the floor to the fridge. “I don’t believe she was ever going to see our cousins.”
Hyuna contemplated this. Hoseok felt guilty. Both of us scolded him for this. He had been hard on himself over the entire ordeal. He thought if he had been able to speak to Bridd and Jimin that this situation would have never happened. Apologizing, the younger wolf went back to wondering where she could have gone.
“Not far,” Hyuna mused.
“She could be out of Moland by now,” I added. “I don’t know which way she would have gone. She might be lost out there.”
That worried all of us. Hoseok knew her better than I did and kept thinking about how little she knew of the outside world. She would have no idea where she was without a map. Hyuna had more faith in her ability to survive out there, and I leaned more towards her thought process. If she needed to fight, she could, and her shifting would lend itself useful regardless. She had probably flown over the swamps and into Clarcton. That would be the easiest and most efficient use of her time.
“That makes the most sense,” Hoseok thought.
Following her scent outside, it stopped on the small deck just outside of the home. She had to have shifted from here. We would not be able to find her. Hoseok huffed in annoyance, Hyuna tried to soothe him, and I could finally pick up my sister’s thoughts. She was worried about everyone, not that it surprised me, Yeong-Mi was always giving herself migraines and panic attacks.
“Shut up,” She snapped at me, her tone biting. I could still hear the stress underneath it. “He’s right, oppa,” Yeong-Mi was talking to Hoseok now. “You can’t blame yourself. We all know who’s to blame for this.”
Sol’s face came to her mind. It was distorted, the Luna’s features not quite right. My sister saw Sol as often as the rest of the village did, and her memories did not do the older girl justice. Mini told me she did not care how wrong she remembered Sol’s face; she had no thoughts of facing the stupid woman anytime soon. Hyuna agreed with a delighted giggle. Hoseok mumbled something about her only trying to help but none of us paid it any attention.
“Sol can’t bear all the responsibility,” I gently chastised my little sister. “Bridd still made the choice to run off.”
“If she had minded her own business,” Mini barked, her stress and frustration boiling over, “-Bridd wouldn’t have run away! God, the nerve. Who would say something like that to Jimin Oppa when we all know just how stressed he’s been?”
“An idiot,” Hyuna bit, her anger surfacing once more. She had always had an issue with Sol. “Between Bo, his brother, and the copiae the man hasn’t had a break.”
I had tried to stay neutral, but I could not help agreeing with Hyuna. Sol had been out of line and overstepped. I found solace in Taehyung’s own reaction to her wrongdoing. The boy had yet to touch his mate since Jimin went into a frantic panic in the middle of the night once he found his girl’s bed empty, and rumors of their constant arguing since the morning Bridd went missing were spreading throughout Bangtan.
“Eun-Jin told me Jimin said she was going to the Ozryn mountains alone,” My sister supplied. “I haven’t been around him since she left, so I don’t know what really happened, but he’s devastated about this.”
Hoseok growled when Jimin’s name came up. Mini took up for her favorite alpha while I reminded him of the situation at large. What Sol told Jimin was a very harsh, unrealistic, misrepresentation of Bridd’s plans. He was reacting on what he knew, or lack thereof, and lashed out. Hoseok vehemently disagreed until Hyuna asked him how he would have reacted if he was convinced she was going off to kill herself after she just recovered from a previous injury.
“She’s alone out there,” Hoseok grunted, his fire burnt out in the face of his wife. “He should have never let that happen.”
“It’s not his fault,” I was pleasantly surprised to hear Jungkook’s older brother, Jong-Hyun. He had been searching the east for a scent but came back around once he realized my sister had left him behind. “They’re both stubborn and I don’t think little miss witch would have allowed him to go. Ji-Hyun said the two of them got into an argument the afternoon she left, and he feels partially responsible for whatever happened between them.”
I growled, “That boy’s attitude is going to get him hurt. Is that why Callisto’s been even more irate than normal?”
Mini laughed, “I think that’s just how she is around you.”
All of us shared a laugh, the tense moment going by. Hyuna and Hoseok had finally found one another, and my sister was their next stop. She was almost to Syrena, and the couple wanted to go for a swim. The rest of us turned down their offer. I did not want to be a magindara’s next meal. Yeong-Mi decided to wait for them so she could keep an eye out for any elves.
Drowning out their voices, I continued sniffing. I knew finding a trail would be next to impossible unless I went deeper into the swamps, but elves could be anywhere. My fear for Bridd came back. I hoped to God that she was safe and watching her back out there. I knew she could handle her own, but she was not infallible.
I sat there, staring out at the brown water, willing it to tell me where to go next, until Hyuna let me know Taehyung was looking for me. My father was concerned about a party of elves spotted in the northwestern corner of Moland and wanted me out of the forest. Jimin was refusing to come home so Taehyung needed me to help him plan strategies. Hyuna had rounded back to meet up with me near Bridd’s cottage.
“We’re leaving him out here alone?” I asked her.
“Of course not,” The small, red wolf replied. “Jong-Hyun and Hoseok are scouting him out. He’s somewhere deep in the forest.”
She was disappointed that their beach trip was postponed but chose not to comment on it. I tried to comfort her in my own way, picturing the two of them swimming and laughing together another day, but she waved me off. She was grateful but did not want to talk about it knowing it would bother Hoseok.
“And he hasn’t found anything?”
“Nothing.”
Stepping into Bridd’s clearing, I admired the wildflowers. She had to have the most beautiful oasis in all of Lustra. Her cottage was surrounded by a beautiful garden filled with vegetables, fruits, and herbs. A large, porcelain bird bath at the very front of the house that, for some reason, never ran out of water. It was odd how perfectly made and curated the meadow was. The Gods must have made it this way so the Bridd would not grow depressed inside. Hyuna was laying in the grass close to the destroyed house. Taehyung said an elf was the one who did all of the damage. Bridd’s scent stuck to the wood, but it was starting to fade.
“I wanted to go inside,” Hyuna looked at the large hole in the front of the house, her mind revealing just how sad she felt. As much as she scolded Hoseok for harboring guilt, she had her own. “I don’t think Jimin would appreciate it. This is the only place that still smells like her.”
“He’s been here,” My friend’s scent was heavy in the air. Fresh. “Is he sleeping in there?”
She nodded, “I think he’s trying to fix the place up. Jungkook was talking about it with Cadoc. Jimin’s obsessed with having everything fixed before she comes home.”
We shared a look. Neither one of us were very hopeful that our little bird would be back anytime soon. I had more faith in her survival abilities than Hyuna did, but neither one of us had any way of knowing when she could realistically get back.
Hyuna remembered her trips to Bangtan back when she still lived in Viridi Gramine. The mountains were harsh, unforgiving, and absolutely lethal. She was a princess, royal and proud in her bloodline, and traveled with the most experienced and strong guides in the land, and still there was always a chance she could never return. After she became of age and found Hoseok, the thought of going through those mountains had never passed her mind before her mother grew ill.
I had never crossed Ozryn myself, but I knew it was a harsh place to be. Hyuna’s memories alone left a chill in my bones. Bridd could very well die out there and no one would be able to stop it from happening. I entertained the thought of Jimin and I leaving Foxglove behind to find her, but one look from Hyuna wiped it clean from my mind. We could not leave the village until we knew more.
Bridd’s death would destroy Jimin, and I was certain Taehyung and Sol’s marriage would fall apart for a time. More than it already had. The Park family would never be the same. For that I desperately hoped she would come to her senses and come home but knew she would not. The little flicker of fire I had seen in those eyes when I showed up to her cottage after Sol’s birthday had told me more about her than the years, we had orbited one another’s atmosphere. She had more in her than Hyuna realized.
“She’s never seen so much of the world before,” Hyuna whispered like we were breaking some unspoken law. “How can she know where to go if she doesn’t know what to look for?”
“She has maps-”
“Maps that predate the industrial revolution,” Hyuna was quick to cut me off. “That girl is blind, and you and I both know it.”
I did not have to speak- we both knew we were on the same page. Still, I told her how fierce Bridd could be when she felt threatened. Showing her our fight outside of the cottage, Hyuna chuckled.
“She’s a fighter, that’s for sure. Still, I worry. When she was in the infirmary all of the witches said that they were used to her fainting spells. How can we know she won’t do that out there?”
I shook my head. “We don’t. We just have to have faith. For Jimin’s sake. For her friends’ sake.”
“And Bridd’s,” Hyuna added.
“And Bridd’s,” I agreed.
A howl echoed through the forest, and I knew I had to get going. Taehyung rarely shifts these days so it must be urgent. Hyuna decided to tag along and wait for her husband at the Temple. She daydreamed of taking a few swings at Sol if given the chance while we ran. I chose to ignore it.
As we got closer to the village, I began to hear the voices of the other copiae that joined the search party. The loudest was Ji-Hyun who complained of his sister-in-law’s melodramatics. Hyuna fought back a snarl, her thoughts murderous. The younger wolf had the decency to drop the subject, but my distaste for him did not change. Taehyung shared my sentiments and told the Park boy to go home for the day. He was able to keep his thoughts to himself long enough to change and our connection severed.
“Irrumator,” Hyuna grunted, her thoughts of Sol swirling into Ji-Hyun.
I chuckled, “He’s young. Cut him some slack.”
“He’s older than Taehyung!” Hyuna barked. “That boy knows better, and what he said to Bridd was so out of line. How dare you defend him?”
I whined, bowed my head, and looked down. Submitting was not something I did often, but I respected Hyuna enough to do so. A fight was the last thing I wanted. Besides, if I had an issue with Hyuna that would mean I had an issue with Hoseok, and that was not something we could not afford right now. Not with this war starting.
“It’s not defending him,” I tried to keep any annoyance for her out of my tone. “I just think this is a time for unity. Arguing and fighting about something we cannot change is pointless.”
She huffed but dropped it. I knew I had won our little exchange and held my head up high. Now, more than ever, we needed to let things go. Taehyung’s thoughts showed his conflicting feelings. While he agreed we needed to come together to fight, to deal with this threat together, he was hurt and angered by his friend’s disappearance. I could see underneath it all, however, he felt betrayal from the one person he held dearest.
Sol brought up mixed emotions of my own. I had wanted her for so long, my longing to be the leader of my people blinding me. When Taehyung was chosen, I was disappointed, but any romantic feelings I may have harbored for the young Luna vanished. Even if my actions after did not reflect it, I was happy for my little cousin.
His wife was never someone I had been particularly close with. She was obsessed with Jimin for years. I could not recall the number of times I could hear her daydreaming about him when we went on walks together. Ahn had asked for me to be her escort when she shifted, and the ramblings of a teenage girl were the last thing I needed to hear. Especially when I found myself wanting to be at her side, to rule and lead, and her thoughts of me only commenting on how ugly I was.
To say she was distraught over Jimin’s lack of interest was an understatement. The poor girl was begging the other alpha to have his way with her- mates be damned. Sol was lucky he was nothing short of a good man. Anyone else might have been tempted, but not Park Jimin. He was kind, cordial, and played with her often, but any sexual advances were immediately shut down. I know why now, and through that lens it was easier to wrap my head around. He was already deeply enamored with another.
Sol’s entire life was flipped upside down once she found herself in Taehyung’s arms. Confusion and disbelief were very prominent at first, but that quickly melted away into adoration. It was as if she had always loved him. For Taehyung the feeling was mutual. Before Sol, he had his eyes set on a local girl called Minji.
Still, I could only guess Sol could not stop herself. It was almost a reflex for her to dote on Jimin at this point. They were closer in age than the rest of us (save Taehyung), though Jimin was a good 7 years older than her, and he was always kind and thoughtful. When she heard that he might be harmed she ran to his side. What she told him, things I only knew because Jimin would not stop thinking about that night, were only meant to help him. She pushed her friendship with Bridd aside to go to him, put her trust with Taehyung under the guillotine, and even risked ruining her bond with Jimin himself in order to protect his heart. It would be admirable if she had thought it over for a few minutes instead of rushing to his house like a bat out of hell, spewing out the most over dramatic and, frankly, not truthful, versions of events.
The argument he had with Bridd was based on what Sol had said. He was already agitated enough as it was. His pack of fifteen had been reduced to seven and the newer recruits were too young. Stress and frustration bubbled over the moment the Luna’s mouth opened. She said Bridd was planning on dying, that the witch was lying to everyone about where she was going, that she was hellbent on making up for her past mistakes. Ridiculous, and while partially true, it was spoken by a teenage girl who did not listen to a word the messenger had said. At that moment all Jimin could hear was his mate marching to her death so she could make up for keeping her mouth shut.
It was still strange to think about what Bridd did. I was annoyed she had kept her visions to herself but that faded once I realized that she was terrified and could do nothing. We were not on good terms. Foxglove had removed themselves completely and Ahn had not been quiet about his plans to go to her cottage. I could not blame her for feeling hesitant to say something when she was not sure what the threat could be. Ahn could have had the witch killed.
“He would have been a fool,” Hyuna mumbled.
“When wasn’t he?” I asked rhetorically.
The others all shared my sentiment. Bridd was the last person to blame for what happened, and her actions the minute she realized what was happening showed how much she cared. Cadoc helped those who were on the fence come back on our side. The way he described waking up and seeing the little witch girl who fumbled and fought by his side, broken and bleeding, was enough to make the toughest cry. When he said the second her eyes opened all she could think about was getting to Foxglove as quickly as possible any whispers of her being ill-intentioned were dashed away. Only a select few still felt weary of her, Ji-Hyun being one of them, but they were at least attempting to be decent for the pack’s sake.
We were at the village’s edge now and I parted ways with Hyuna. She gave me a brief goodbye before leaving me to shift. I was more private than the others, especially Hoseok and Hyuna, and they were used to giving me the space I desperately craved during the shift. It was my most vulnerable moment and I hated feeling seen.
We had various items of clothing hidden within Bangtan. None of it was meant to fit well or be personable, but it was practical. My mother was in charge of keeping the copiae clothed and taken care of a job that she took very seriously, and it was one of the only things my father felt proud of. He would often put her down and tell her she needed to do better, be better, and all of the other strange demeaning slogans the older men in town harped on about. I had never been able to see the fault of any of the women, my mother even more so, but she never commented on it and neither did I.
I found a pair of large, baggy pants and shifted. Putting on the cotton garments, I decided to forgo a shirt and made my way to the Temple. Taehyung was waiting for me, and I would not cause him undo stress. He was dealing with so much already and I did not want to add to my cousin’s weight. I think I have done enough of that already.
Walking through the town, I caught sight of Jimin’s mother. She was helping Jungkook’s father cut wood for his roof. The Parks were a strange family. Mi-Jeong was outspoken, loud, and fierce. She did not bow down to men the way the others did, and her stubborn streak was only rivaled by her youngest child. My own family often spoke of her ‘atrocious’ behavior, but I was only ever endeared by Mi-Jeong.
Ji-Hyun had been a quiet kid, favoring his mother more with his sharp features and moss-brown eyes. He followed his brother around for years and Jimin never complained. That lonely quietness followed him into his teenage years, but when he fell in love with a human girl that forced a fierce, possessiveness to form. He fought for her, both verbally and physically, and that changed him. His attitude was horrible, always defensive and quick to judge, but he had a love and devotion for his family unlike anything I have ever seen. Somehow, even more than his older brother.
Jimin, for all his faults, was someone who had always fascinated me. From the time he was born he had the village at his feet. His father had been a strong, powerful man who was every bit the wolf our people expected. His choice of bride was bizarre, but everyone was sure if anyone could handle Mi-Jeong it was Ji-Won. Jimin, like his father, bore all the hallmarks of a Park. Charming, witty, and courageous. What set him apart, however, was the sweetness he kept hidden away from the others. I saw it. I had always seen it.
The first time was when I watched him chase after butterflies in his backyard. He was no older than four, but at that age boys were expected to show signs of maturity. In public, Jimin was the picture-perfect child. However, as I watched him blow bubbles, giggling a sound so sweet it made my teeth hurt, before taking off after a monarch, I knew whatever he was doing was an act.
I frowned. His sweetness was showing once more, now very publicly, and I was not sure how he was handling it. He was not allowing anyone to speak with him, shunned his closest friends, and was hiding away waiting for the other piece of his heart to return. Such a strange sight, Park Jimin weak and in pain.
Mi-Jeong caught my eyes just then and I could see it in her as well. She was so sad, so worried. I hoped her family would come together but doubted that would happen. At least, not until Bridd came back. If she came back. I shuddered to think about the fate of the Park family if she did not return home.
I did not stop to speak to anyone like I normally did. My mind was too scattered and, frankly, I was done with conversation. Having a constant cycle of thoughts and voices in your head would do that. Luckily, no one seemed bothered by my silence. We were all living in uncertainty since losing one of our strongest fighters.
“Anything new, dog?”
I grit my teeth. I knew that voice. It was grating in its smoothness. Taking a deep breath, I turned to look across the way.
Of course, he would be here.
Seokjin had become my own personal hell over the last few days. The man could hold a grudge and had still not forgiven me for lunging at his friend. Now he was standing there, a stern look on his face, his eyes filled with disdain. Beside him was a face I did not see as frequently. Yoongi looked worse than ever. He was thin and frail, much frailer than he had been before he was blinded, and his hair messy. His eyes were even bluer today than they were when I had last seen him. His pupil was nearly gone.
“Unfortunately, not,” I deadpanned, trying to get out of this as quickly as possible. “There’s still a few out searching, but I was called away.”
“Hmft,” Seokjin crossed his arms over his chest, his eyes darkening even further. “Figures.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I demanded, not liking the tone in his voice.
I did not like much about him.
“You don’t care if you find her or not,” He replied, his voice dripping with anger. “None of you do.”
I was exasperated, “You know that is not true-”
“It’s that bitch’s fault she’s gone,” Seokjin shouted over me.
“Stop yelling,” I was attempting to keep myself calm. We were causing a scene. My father was going to be furious. “I’m aware of what Sol has done. Neither one of us are happy about it, but I’m not God. I can’t turn back time just like I can’t bring her back. What’s done is done.”
“Yet you still follow her orders like some lap dog.”
“I follow Taehyung,” I corrected. “By extension, that means I follow his wife. We are at war, Seokjin. I’m sorry about Bridd, truly I am, and I hope she is alive and well, but my life does not revolve around her. I have a village to protect, a village she is not in, and I will not leave it to burn to go on some wild goose chase.”
Seokjin’s face was red now, his eyes moist from unshed tears. I could not help but pity the fool. Bridd was a close friend of his and she abandoned them. It was a harsh word to use, but that was the only one that truly captured the anguish the witches felt. I could not say how the others were doing. They made their disgust for our governing bodies known the night she went missing. Sol banned them from returning to the Temple after the woman who was always hanging off of Seokjin’s arm shouted at her. None of us had seen their little group leave the Park house since.
“You’re going to let her die,” He finally spoke, the accusation a punch in the gut.
Yes, I would let the witch girl die if it meant saving my own. She was nothing to me. We were hardly friends, and while I respected her, that did not mean I would choose her over my sister. Being here was far more important to me than that woman’s life. If the stakes were not so high then I would gladly hunt her down, but that was not the life we were living. I had to trust that she knew what she was doing and be okay with it.
“Jin,” Yoongi stepped in. I had forgotten he was there. “Let it be. Namjoon has done what he can. Let’s go back to Mi-Jeong’s.”
I was glad he seemed to be more reasonable than Seokjin. Stealing another look at him, I was pleased to see his hair was growing. That meant he was eating well enough. It was a shame no one knew how to help his condition. I could not imagine losing my vision within a blink of an eye. Then I remembered that he did not just lose it. Yoongi had been in agony, his head felt like it had been slammed through the thick cement of the castle walls, and his fear sent him into panic attacks. Samanya told me she had only ever seen it happen once. The spell should have killed him, and he was lucky to have survived with only his eyesight lost. I doubted he felt that way.
“But-”
“Drop it,” The raven-haired man stopped Seokjin before he could get another word in. Without looking, he addressed me. “I apologize for his callousness. We are all worried. I hope you understand.”
This was the most I had ever heard him speak, even counting the time all of us had been at Bridd’s cottage in the Spring. “It’s not an issue. I hope you are better.”
It was unnerving to talk to someone who did not look at my face. Yoongi stared out towards the south end of the village, his eyes untrained and unresponsive, and he showed no signs that he was having a discussion with anyone. Even his voice remained monotone and unwavering. Gruff and smokey while the intention was flat.
“I am fine,” He replied, “We are here because my mother was interested in how far you believe she could be. I will let her know that she must have shifted, and her scent was lost.”
“Thank you,” I replied, impressed he was able to keep Seokjin quiet for this long. “She was inside of a houseboat for a few hours before leaving. Any ideas?”
“Thelma,” Seokjin grunted. “Must have slept and then taken off. Was anything missing?”
I shrugged, “I couldn’t say. I’m sorry.”
Seokjin shook his head angrily.
“No need to apologize,” Yoongi raised a hand and dropped it immediately. I had no idea what he was trying to do but decided it did not matter. “We’ll leave you alone now.”
Seokjin seemed to open his mouth to argue but decided against it. I smirked triumphantly. I should keep the blind witch around more often. He had the perfect effect on the annoying one. Scowling, Seokjin wrapped an arm around Yoongi and turned back toward the direction of the residential district.
Taehyung was pacing when I finally found him in the Temple library. Books were scattered about the tables, a few pages torn out stacked messily on the edge of the large oak table he had been sitting at. His blonde hair was shaggy now, the back of it just past the nape of his neck while the rest hung just below his ears. My little cousin kept thick wavy bangs that fell over his eyebrows which were now so long they had to be held from his eyes back with a headband.
I was worried for him. He was frightened and slowly losing his composure. He was able to hold it together long enough to make it through meetings with the elders. He refused to show them any weakness. He did not want to prove Ahn right. However, anyone could see how much the pressure was starting to affect the young boy. Jimin was trying to keep him sane through this, but he was dealing with his own problems.
I had taken it upon myself to pick up where he slacked. I owed it to the both of them after my part in their exile. Taehyung was better at forgiveness than Jimin, but the both of them had given me grace I did not deserve. I was lucky. Other men might have taken my head after the show of disrespect. Jimin very well might have if he was not so concerned with upsetting his mate.
I needed to stop thinking of them. Taehyung had called me for a reason, and I had to be there for my cousin. His pacing did not slow or stop when I came in, so I was sure he was not about to talk war with me. He seemed to calm down when we talked about strategy.
“Sorry for taking so long, Tae,” I kept my voice low and calm.
He paused his pacing to look over at me. His eyes were red-rimmed and wet, his cheeks swollen and flushed, and his lower lip could not hide its tremble no matter how much effort he put into it. Taehyung’s emotional vulnerability had always confounded me. He was so sweet and kind, gentle and warm, and had never made any real efforts to change himself. He laughed at his clumsiness, skipped when he was happy, and played with his younger siblings like the giant child he was.
Likewise, he was never afraid to cry. When Jimin’s father died neither he nor Ji-Hyun shed a single tear when around others. I knew better than to foolishly think the boys did not sob into their mother’s shoulders during the night, especially Jimin, but the town was thrilled by their show of “bravery.” Taehyung did not know how to put on that mask as perfectly as Jimin had.
Taehyung’s father did not die as honorably as Jimin’s had, no final acts of courage protecting his wife from a stray pack of wolves. Just sickness. Ahn called him a weak man for allowing something as insignificant as an infected wound kill him. No one really thought the same way he had but made no effort to disagree with him. Not to his face, anyway. My own mother had said Ahn was cruel for putting down an already grieving family, and she was one of his loyalists.
“I hadn’t noticed it had been that long,” He mumbled before going back to pacing.
He had never looked more like his father. Dong-Min was respectable, wise and honest, but never a man others flocked to. He had been an artist from Viridi Gramine, and while his paintings and scrolls were the most beautiful in Nantgarth, he was not seen as someone important. When he met Hana, he had found his muse, and she adored his soft-spoken demeanor. She came from an abusive home, and her father had beaten her black and blue the night she ran to Dong-Min. The two ran away from Withertusk hand in hand, his sister’s house the only place he knew he could go, and their troubles ended soon after arriving in Foxglove.
“You’re upset,” I broached the subject bluntly. Taehyung preferred it that way. “What’s the matter?”
“Have I done something wrong?” He asked me, his voice cracking. He must have started crying again. “I want your honesty, Namjoon. Please. Tell me if I have done anything horrible to her.”
“To who?”
I went to comfort the boy. His shoulders moved with his cries, but he was surprisingly quiet. It had never crossed my mind that he was desperately trying to cover up his pain from the others, his discomfort so noticeable I had assumed he had forgotten the act. I was always getting things wrong with Taehyung. The only thing he could do was shake his head, close his eyes, and let a fresh wave of tears overtake him.
I embraced him then, his crying making me uncomfortable. The last time he shed tears on my shoulder had been his father’s funeral. It was after Ahn had told him tears would not bring his father back. He tripped running out of the building, unable to breathe in the presence of the chief, and scraped his knee. Blood flowing down his leg, pants ripped, and black clothes covered in dust, Taehyung begged me to hold him when I found him. My father came to check on us sometime later, and in a rare act of kindness, took the younger boy to our house to clean up.
“You could never wrong her,” I was not a good comforter, but I hoped words of encouragement would help. “Whatever happened between you two to have you like this is only a wrinkle in time. Sol is angry with herself. She loves you and knows how dearly you love her.”
Tae sniffled; his cries muffled against my shoulder.
“Not Sol,” He cried. “Y/N.”
That seemed worse to me. I could easily give him meaningless fluff about his mate. Their love was a given. He had been very angry with her about speaking to Jimin behind his back, but I knew they would work through it in time. Trust had been broken but their bond would conquer that. His friendship with the witch was a different story. I had never seen it with my own eyes, but I knew it was strong. He looked at her like the older sister he never had, his thoughts said as much, but I did not feel equipped enough to help him through his grief.
“You did nothing to her, Tae,” I reasoned. I could do logic. “She made a choice to leave and held no ill will toward you. She even left you a note with your necklace. Doesn’t that say enough?”
The red gem was pressed against my skin. Bridd had been so sweet to Taehyung and smiled after everything he said. The gift was a kind gesture he had not truly earned after such a botched introduction. Still, she had given it to him just as she gave me that journal. Ironic that she had given it to me to write about adventures and it had instead become my poetry book. He had refused to take the necklace off since reading the letter.
“I told Sol,” He whimpered. “I told her after she asked me to keep quiet. It’s all my fault-”
“I’m tired of the blame game,” I sighed, gently pushing Taehyung. Now an arm’s length away, I took a hold of my cousin's shoulders. “Everyone has been doing nothing but feeling sorry for themselves. Y/N chose to leave this place to find help. No one is forcing her to do that.
“You and I both know how capable she is, right? Stop acting like she’s dead, Tae. The girl knows what she’s doing, and if she doesn’t, I’m sure she’s smart enough to figure something out. Stop allowing guilt and fear to distract you from what’s important. She left to find some ancient being to help us survive this fight with the elves.”
“What if she…” His voice trailed off, unable to put death in the universe.
“Then we make sure it’s not in vain,” I let go of him. “We plan, strategize, and prepare to fight tooth and nail against those things. For Bridd.”
I did not really want to swear on her name this way, but I knew it would be something Taehyung latched onto. She was not really my friend, but I could live with fighting in her honor. I respected her enough. It worked and Taehyung’s eyes held more heat than they ever had.
“For Bridd,” He said it like a prayer.
Internally, I prayed she would come back soon. I was not sure if this fire would last, and I was afraid of what might happen if it was left to grow out of control. As long as I knew Taehyung, he was obsessive. When he was a boy, he painted like his father. When he got a little older, he sculpted like our grandmother. Early teen years Taehyung was dead set on learning how to garden. That soon shifted into learning about all of the plants in Bangtan. Now, I worry it will become this war. Taehyung was not ready for what was coming, but I had to believe in him.
“You should go and see your mom,” I told him earnestly. “I’m sure Jong and Jin miss you.”
I did not add my worries over him being locked away in the Temple since he got back.
He nodded, “I will. Let one of the maids know I’ve left. I don’t want Sol to worry if I’m gone.”
“You’re not telling her you’re leaving?”
He frowned, “We aren’t on speaking terms at the moment.”
Oh, Bridd why did you have to leave? Why did Sol have to run her mouth? I could not bear to see Taehyung look so defeated. The flames that I sparked in him did not ease my worries. He was still lost at sea, and I fear I had done more harm than good. I should have let him cry and whine. That was easier than trying to navigate if I had said or done the right thing or not.
Tumblr media
The rest of the day flew by. After my conversation with Taehyung, he left to see his siblings and I stayed behind to get some work done. Despite our war plans we still had obligations to our cousins on the east coast. After writing for a few hours, warnings and heeds against traveling included, I went back to our maps. The library was filled with them, and I hoped a fresh start would help us get a breakthrough.
All talks of war had gotten loud and angry quickly with my father and Jimin at odds more often than not. I loved my dad, but I couldn't help but doubt his methods. He wanted to march to Northorn and meet our enemy there. Jimin saw this as idiotic. The elves would have an easier time fighting our kind on an unknown field. No one knew the forest like our pack did and we could use that to our advantage. If we were lucky, the elves might find a way to disturb the other creatures that lived here. Even luckier if it happened to be the fae.
Unfortunately, I was not as well versed as either one of them. I knew how to fight and was very good at it, but my skills in a tactical situation were severely lacking. Whenever Jungkook joined the conversation the two of us were on the same side of the debate. We did not want to die but would do so if asked. He, like myself, favored Jimin’s plans. Staying in Bangtan was the most logical step for now.
The rest of the witches from Syrena arrived late in the afternoon. They were loud and angry women, their rage burning bright enough to scare the most well-trained fighter. I felt sorry for them. They lost their leader during the attack and were now relying on the swamp woman to guide them. Thinking of them made me think of Yoongi again.
He had seemed to be adjusting well enough, but fighting would be pointless. He could not see a target. He was dead weight. I frowned. Such a pity. He was a great fighter and I had been impressed with him during the attack. The only way they were able to stop him was that spell and it only took him out temporarily. I had a feeling he would be back on the battlefield even if he was told to stay away. His death would be a respectable one.
Seokjin was another one that surprised me. As much as I disliked the witch, I could not deny the man knew how to fight. He took down elf after elf, defended his girlfriend, and saved his father’s life. I trusted him enough to know he would defend my pack with the same veracity and hoped we could place our differences aside to train together. It would be helpful to all of us if we could find a way to fight as a cohesive unit. I would speak with Jimin about it later.
I smelled her before I heard her. Her feet were normally bare and freezing cold, but I doubted she cared. Rose stuck to her honey-sweetness, and I had to hold back a gag. Sol always tried so hard to cover up her natural scent, but I knew it was not her fault for being so self conscious about it. Ahn had destroyed most of her individuality, made her second guess herself constantly, and called her ugly on numerous occasions. Jimin and I heard it all through the years, Hoseok as well but to a lesser extent, and we tried our best to keep her company.
Jungkook was the most vital member of her circle, but he was hardly around anymore. He was trying to give the couple space, and Sol had been happy with that until a Bridd left. Now Jungkook stayed away to avoid getting caught in the middle of their tug of war. I could not blame the boy. He was too young to be of any real emotional support, and he wanted to stay in Jimin’s good graces hoping the older man would allow him to join the copiae now that Ahn was not around to stop him.
She knew I was in here. She was coming to find me. Her little feet pitter pattered against the marble floors. The west wing was the most luxurious part of the Temple and the place Sol and Taehyung slept. The library here was huge, painted in white and gold, with thousands of books. Spiral staircases led to the second floor where more bookcases were lined up. That was considered the “ancient section” where one could find scrolls and books from our time in Korika. That was Sol’s favorite place in the entire Temple.
She stood in front of me, her hands clasped in front of her little body, and her toes wiggling. Her hair was not covered, something that made me feel deeply uncomfortable, and cascaded down her back. It was beautiful, thick and black with natural waves. Averting my gaze, I stared at her toes. They were small and cute.
“Luna,” I greeted. “Your hair.”
She sighed as if expecting me to say something. She was almost annoyed. I could not figure out why. Modesty had always meant something to Ahn and Sol, and her hair was called “impoper.” Ahn made it seem like it was inherently sexual simply for being beautiful. Not many of the other women in Foxglove would wear a head covering, but I always respected Sol’s choice. She was upset right now and not thinking straight, and I worried she would regret walking around me so exposed.
“Does it matter?” She murmured. “We all know I am no longer virtuous.”
I frowned, “Your virtue is not tied with your virginity, Sol.”
I was more aware of my bare chest than normal. It was improper for the two of us to be alone like this. Family or not, it was wrong. Taehyung would be hurt if he caught us in such a compromising position. I stood and put some distance between us, taking extra care not to look at Sol.
“What’s bothering you?” I asked. “Aside from the obvious.”
Walking over the library entrance, I leaned against the doorframe and stared out into the hall. At least I could say I was far away from the luna. I could hear her sit down in the chair I had left, and I waited.
“You must think I’m pathetic,” Sol spoke softly.
“Why would I think that?” I countered.
She laughed humorlessly, “We know you’re more in tune with my thoughts than most, Joon. You were there before Taehyung. You were always there. You and I were practically betrothed for a while. At least, that’s what my father said.”
I hated when she called Ahn father. He was nothing to her. Everyone knew Cho Haneul and Bong Ha-Yun were her parents. They suddenly disappeared from the village when Sol was less than six months old, leaving her behind and in Ahn’s care. Whispers spread about what had happened to them, but I always believed what my mother said. Ahn banished the couple from the village and took their child. No one had seen or heard from them in 18 years, so it was hard to say, but I did not trust Ahn. Not at all.
“I was never fair to you,” She continued. “I was mean and rude. Cold. I wanted Jimin so badly, probably because he did not want me, and I treated you like a problem. Maybe it was my own way of rebelling. Either way, I’m sorry.
“I think you understand me more than anyone else. You were always there with me. You never complained. It’s one of the things I always appreciated about you, your ability to stay calm. Taehyung is similar, though not as stoic. I love that about him.”
I did not have to see her to know her eyebrows were pulled down, her teeth nibbling her lower lip, and her leg shaking. Sol was very obvious in her discomfort. Her voice gave her away.
“Why are you telling me this?” I asked, not unkindly.
“You knew me before Taehyung did. I know you did not really like me very much, but I trust your opinion more than the others. I know I don’t deserve your kindness, but I’m asking for it anyway.”
Her voice was tired and worn, and I was not sure what to do about it. Not for the first time I found myself bored of the Luna. I reminded myself of her age, her youth, and her innocence, but it did not change how I felt. She made a mistake, overstepped boundaries and lied while doing so, and caused a mess of things. The fact that I knew her only made it worse, because I knew she did not consider a single person outside of herself. I doubt she thought anyone would be angry with her. In fact, she was probably hoping for praise and attention.
“Am I a bad person?” She asked, her voice weak and frail.
“No,” She was not a bad person for what happened, “But I won’t lie to make you feel better. You should not be trusted by anybody after the stunt you pulled.”
I heard her sniffle, “It’s not my fault he said the things he said. He chose to be cruel and mean to Y/N. She decided to leave! How is anything my fault?”
I rolled my eyes. Typical. Not even her gentle cries stopped my genuine annoyance with her from shining through. I had not been there for the argument between Jimin and Bridd, nor his conversation with Sol, but his thoughts had been enough to get me up to speed. She had done nothing but stir the pot between them, well intentioned or not, and made all of this far more dramatic than it needed to be.
“It’s your fault your relationship is suffering. It’s your fault that the pack is angry with you. You did that. No one else. Actions have consequences, Sol. You and I both know that,” Sparing her a brief look over my shoulder, I refused to let her tears soften my resolve. “If you were hoping I was going to lie to save your feelings, you were mistaken. Go to one of your maids and cry to them. They’re trained to dry your eyes, but I’m not.”
She did not speak and so I decided to leave. I had been here most of the day now and needed to find somewhere to sleep for the night. The Temple was the last place I wanted to spend time in right now, but my options were limited. Maybe if I could find Sam, she would not mind making space for me in her bed.
I fought back a smile. She was an amazing woman, her beauty striking and confidence refreshing. We had found ourselves alone a handful of times since her people came to our aid and our flirtatious relationship was amusing. I had come to know that quietus was not monogamous and rarely took on a full-time lover. She only knew of her king and queen, but they had another woman who joined them after the Century War. Sam and I shared a laugh about how scandalous that would be in the village, not just a threesome but same-sex relations, but I had not truly entertained her advances. She was not someone I imagined myself with.
I did not want to go to my family home either. Being around my parents for too long would drive me insane. I was always putting on a front with my father and my mother refused to stand up to him. Most of my childhood was spent getting beaten while my mother watched, relieved that her own punishment was over. By the time Mini came along those days were in the past. When my dad stopped drinking our relationship got better, a little less violent, but I never got rid of the resentment I held. Sometimes I truly believed I hated both of them.
I had been sleeping at Hoseok’s the last few nights, but he had asked for some privacy, and I got too caught up with work to ask someone else if they had any space for me. It was a far cry from the lavish room I had within the Temple, but I could not stand being there most of the time. I would have joined Jimin and the rest of the copiae, but my job was important enough to give me pause. If I stepped down as head council that would mean that my father or Bo would be placed in charge of public relations. I would eat my own shoes before letting that happen. Taehyung would go insane if those two were the only ones left in charge.
I thought about other friends I could visit. The Parks would open their door for me, but they were housing such a large group I felt awful going there. Yoongi and swamp witch’s families were still there. Jin’s little group was with Taehyung’s family, and the Syrena witches were spread out between a few wolf families and the humans. They were originally planning on staying at the Temple, but Sol made a mess of that. I sighed. Everything went south so quickly.
“You look lost.”
I stopped walking. I did not realize I had walked into the copiae grounds. Jimin was sitting on his porch, a large glass in his hand and a dark look in his eye. I could smell the alcohol on him from across the street. Going to him, I tried not to think about my dad.
“You’re drunk,” I took the glass from him and sniffed. Mead. If I had to guess, from Jungkook’s house. “This isn’t going to make you feel better.”
He shrugged, “I know. Just wanted a distraction.”
For the third time today, I was being asked to support someone. Even if Jimin had not asked for help directly, I knew I was going to drag his ass inside and make him go to sleep. At least I knew I could stay here afterwards. In the morning, I would make sure he ate and then try to convince him to come to the Temple and look over documents. He was the battle guy.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” I stated bluntly. “I’ve already had to deal with two crybabies today and my emotional battery is drained. So, you’re just going to do me a favor and then we can talk in the morning.”
He scoffed, leaning back against his house. A faint sheen of sweat covered his body, and his hair was tangled. Jimin never looked so unkempt before. Showing no signs of moving, I rubbed my face roughly.
“Fine,” I sighed. “Look, how about I cut you a deal?”
He did not reply, but I decided to keep going anyway.
“I need somewhere to sleep. I can’t stand being around Taehyung and Sol right now. And you-” I gestured at his body, face tight, “-look like shit. Obviously, you’re upset but the pack needs you to pull it together so we can get through this.”
He was like a statue. “I’m going to stay the night, and tomorrow we’ll talk about feelings or whatever. Then, you and I are going to come up with a plan to get you back in the game. How does that sound?”
Jimin rolled his eyes, laughing humorlessly, “What’s the point?” His face crumbled and again I felt lost at sea. I could not deal with him crying. Thankfully, he gathered his composure. “What’s the point of anything? Without her… it just doesn’t matter.”
I sighed and sat down beside him. The wood was cold and rough, but it was easy to put that out of my mind. I had to think about this as two friends talking. Jimin had never asked me for anything, and when Taehyung was chosen, he had been the first person to tell me I needed to stand my ground against Ahn. I had been foolish at the time and ignored his advice. Now he needed me to stand my ground against himself, and I had no other option.
We could not go on like this. Jimin was not in the right state of mind right now, and I knew the only way to get him out of it was Bridd. My brain was already devising a plan, one that I had thought foolish and improbable this morning, and I wanted to laugh. There was no way we would be able to do it, but maybe bringing it up would make him feel better? Maybe knowing that someone would help him find her if we got the chance would motivate him to get work done. Feeling guilty, I decided to go for the jugular and deal with the consequences later.
“I know you're hurting right now,” I tried to soften my tone, but could not hear if it had worked or not. "I can't imagine how you feel. I know when you and Taehyung were gone how the guilt ate me alive. It must be worse for you."
"You don't have to say anything," He tried to interject, but I brushed off the comment like he had not said anything.
"I think I do. No one else is, apparently. We're in deep shit right now Park," I put my hand on his shoulder. "We need you, man."
He shook his head, "I wouldn't be much help right now, Joon."
"I don't believe that," I replied. "In fact, anything you do would be more helpful than whatever the hell you got going on. Your girl is on my side, by the way. She'd be on your ass if she found out how much you've been slacking."
That made him laugh quietly.
"That's fair," He was smiling, dazed and flushed from the alcohol. "She's such a little firecracker, isn't she?"
I nodded, "She tried to set me on fire once."
We shared a laugh at the memory. Truth is she terrified me. If she wanted to kill me that day she could have. If she did not have to worry about the sun, there was a real chance I left her house with more than a few scratches and bruises. Jimin beat my ass when she got hurt, but I had the added benefit of a lifetime worth of memories stopping him from taking my head off. I did not have that with Bridd.
"What if I wagered you something?" I asked.
That got his attention, “What?”
"If we get through this next wave of violence on top, I'll help you find her out there."
He looked at me, eyes more alert than they had been in days.
"Truly?"
The guilt made my stomach twist painfully. I did not truly believe we would ever get to that point. Elves were everywhere, the fight in Northorn growing in their favor as the days went by, and we were nowhere near ready. We had lost so many in this fight not to mention talks of traitors.
The alliance with the quietus was shaky at best without the proper bonds being formed. I was the only person in a position of power even attempting to reach out. Then there was the witch problem, and the only person I could see mending that fence was Jimin. It could be weeks, maybe even months, before we could go after Bridd. Still, I had to use her as leverage. We needed strong leadership right now and the witch was the best source of motivation one could come by.
“I’ll go with you,” I doubled down. “We can have a small party. I’ve made friends with a quietus who knows her way around so finding her could be fairly simple.”
“You’d do that for me?” I could tell he was genuinely surprised.
I nodded, “If we're in the position to do it, why not?"
I could see him thinking about it. The faraway look in his eyes was gone giving way to a refreshed, almost serene look. He was going to go for it. Hope blossomed in my chest. If I had Jimin on my side, Taehyung would be a piece of cake. He desperately wanted to make amends with the older alpha. Seeing the two of them back in action would bring Hoseok back into the fold as well.
Already our odds were turning. Soon the elementals and witches would be joining in on our meetings, the elder council getting pushed out for a new crowd of leaders, and the war would finally seem less daunting. I might even be able to convince a new wave of warriors to join the copiae once the village saw Jimin's new resolve.
"Stay here as long as you need" Jimin finally said, and I was cheering internally. "You can take the couch."
I stood up, ready to go to bed, and pushed his head playfully. He chuckled, swatting my hand away. We used to mess around like this all the time as kids. Jimin always ended up winning our wrestling matches. He was too slippery.
"Let's go, kid," I stretched my arms above my head. "We have to get up early. Council meeting."
He nodded, asking me to help him stand. He must have drunk more than I thought. It takes a lot for alcohol to affect us this much.
"Hopefully Taehyung will get rid of the two dinosaurs in the Temple," He slurred, walking inside grumbling about his bed feeling too big.

A/N: So Joon pov??? How do we like? He's not the only pov switch we're going to have, but we will be seeing a lot of our favorite (to hate) alpha joining our main squad. I thought he would be a good outside mind to get inside of since he's not as emotionally connected to Bridd as the others. Any guesses as to who our other switches might be?
p.s. These pov chapters will be a bit shorter than our normal, reader pov ones, but not by much.

The very first time Katsuki had intended to have you for dinner was four hundred years before you two reunite. He had been watching your little cottage outside of town for weeks, he studied your routine, noticed you lived alone and how many visitors you had on average. You were a vision to the hungry vampire, your beauty made both his fangs and loins ache with desire. So much so that he peeked into your bedroom more than once, watching you in your most intimate moments. He decided to have some fun with you before ending your life, which wasn’t something he often even considered doing with prey.
Faking an injury, he limped up the path approaching your home as the sun was setting. You’d just returned from town when you noticed him, and your eyes shine with worry, “Sir, do you need some help? Are you alright?!”.
Katsuki turned on the charm for you, and even with you normally being impossible to sway, he had you internally swooning. When your hands fly up to touch your burning cheeks, the supernatural male realizes he may have over done it a bit. Considering he wasn’t faking his interest in you, it had been a bit easy for him to do so. Regardless, you pull him along the pathway, eager to get him inside your house “its warmer in here, I’ll make some tea and we can sit infront of the fire”. Over an hour had passed and the two of you had already discussed a wide array of topics. The smile he wore was genuine when you would stifle a giggle and lightly slap at his arm when he said something vulgar or mean spirited. Just as you had slightly shifted closer towards him, a knock came from the front door. You immediately looked uneasy as it came again, and Katsuki’s hand came to rest over your’s, “What’s wrong?”. “The preachers son has been coming around in the evenings to see me…I believe he intends to begin courting me…” you whispered, finding yourself moving even closer to the man beside you “I don’t like him Katsuki, I’ve never even given him any sort of attention before…The people in the village keep trying to push me into a courtship, no one will listen to how I feel…They just dismiss my refusal, claiming that it’s normal to have doubts”.
The thought of some man forcing his unwanted presence inside of your house made Bakugou mad. The sadness and fear in your eyes brought some strange protective side of the angry vampire out. Hearing the knocking become more insistent, it’s without thinking he takes your little hands between his much larger ones. If you were suprised by the slight chill of his skin you made no fuss, only stared up at him with something akin to both hope and a slight tint of something else….”What if I answer the door, and when he asks for you, I will inform him that your late parents and mine had an agreement that betrothed us, and I have finally come to claim you after the two of us had lost touch during the time I spent working over seas”he was suprised that something made up on a whim could sound so serious.
“That’s a wonderful idea! Especially with my parents being unable to confirm or deny this! Please do it, I’d be ever so grateful” your hands grow warmer in his icy ones, and that warmth begins to creep up his arms and sink into his chest. The vampire instantly regretting letting you go for even a second as he gets up. Once his back is to you his frown is switched out for a truly menacing expression. Katsuki swings the door open and the man outside has his fist in the air to continue his assault on the wood. “May I help you?” the ice in immortals tone has the smaller man flinching. Though the creep is quick to recover and immediately begins sizing the handsome stranger in the doorway up, (despite being incredibly small in stature himself) “I’m here to see Ms.L/N, who exactly are you?”. “Who I am is none of your business, and you won’t be seeing her this evening, we aren’t taking visitors” Katsuki says dismissively, attempting to shut the door, only to have the smaller man try to grab ahold of it and keep it open. “Why are you speaking for her? You are-“ “Y/N is my betrothed, and has been for years, I’m speaking for her because I am her soon to be husband, it is not appropriate for an unmarried man to be coming round visiting a woman in the evening, especially without invitation, so don’t bother returning, good night!” Katsuki yanks the door shut, the preacher’s son barely able to let go before his fingers were slammed in it.
You descended upon Bakugou soon as he locked the door and turned around. You two stayed quiet for a moment before the male you were hugging gave a nod that the coast was clear. You looked like you were about to burst with excitement, “I think it worked! Thank you so much for getting rid of him!”. Gods you were too sweet, and so beautiful as your eyes sparkled with gratitude. Katsuki allows you to lead him back towards where you’d previously sat in front of the fire, albeit much closer together this time. “So um…he’s rather persistent if you hadn’t noticed” you begin, with nervousness evident in your slight fidgeting. “I noticed” sneers your companion, pulling you further against his side. You feel your cheeks warming up and your heart begins to thump rapidly beneath your bosom, forcing yourself to continue, “So what I was meaning to say was…he will probably check back up and see if you’re still with me sporadically throughout the next few weeks…so I was just wondering if you weren’t in a hurry to get somewhere…I’d enjoy your company for however long you’d agree to stick around…”.
You were supposed to be his dinner, and now he’s playing the role of your soon to be husband. “Hmmm I suppose I can stick around…but what will I get out of this arrangement?” The handsome devil is certainly playing his part as he smirks back at your wide doe eyes and parted lips. “I don’t have a lot of money…but I could part with some if that’s what you wish-“ you gasp as you find yourself on your back, staring up into the captivating crimson eyes of your guest. “Nah I’m not after your money princess, what I desire from you is just something as simple as a cure of my loneliness” a cold calloused finger plays with your bottom lip, and you lay there wide eyed and clueless “If I agree to your proposition, then for the entire duration of my stay I want you to act like my wife, you’re to preform all the womanly duties carried out by an adoring wife to please her beloved husband, do we have a deal then?”. You turn your head to the side to contemplate your decision, only to have him tsk at you “Look at your husband when he’s talking to you beautiful”.
So what if he might have had to use his power of persuasion a bit here, couldn’t risk you possibly denying him.
When you look back up at him your eyes immediately lock with his own. His eyes are such a vibrant crimson it’s almost like they’re glowing as the draw you in further, until they are all you can see, “Y-Yes, we have a deal”. Then it’s over and you shake your head a bit, must have been a trick of the fire light, since you must have extinguished all the lamps earlier during your uninvited guests appearance. “Good, now come here so I can hold you properly”.
The first week you’d spent having Katsuki in your home was a strange one, strange but good. Sometimes he would take off for most of the day, and you would go about your usual routine. At night when he would return, you’d welcome him home, and the two of you would sit at your rickety little table and have dinner together. One of those dinners he brought out a bottle of wine and asked you to have a drink with him. You tried to turn him down stating you didn’t drink, but somehow you find yourself with a half full glass infront of the fireplace once more. Only this time you are in a much more intimate position, your seated between his legs with your back to his chest. The wine has you feeling warm and a bit drowsy, so much so that the kiss pressed to the back of your neck doesn’t even startle you. “Kat…Suki” you mumbled before you fell asleep, head resting on his shoulder.
Since that time, you had gotten more comfortable with physical contact between you and your guest. When you would cook he more often than not would come up behind you and wrap his arms around your waist, always kissing your neck so sweetly as he did so. Two weeks had passed since the preacher’s son had last come calling (You had eventually mentioned the idiots name, Mineta). Earlier that afternoon a friend of yours had invited you to pick apples from their orchard, and you had agreed, promising Katsuki you would make him the best apple pie he’s ever had when you returned. For once it was you that surprised him with a quick peck on the cheek and a nervous “I’ll be back soon my beloved husband”.
The blonde was stuck in the spot you’d left him in over an hour later, his hand over the warm spot you’d left on his cheek. Trying to deny the accusatory voice inside his head that claimed he saw you as more than a meal or a conquest, until a loud knock interrupted his thought process. Already aware who’d be standing outside, he stormed over to the door and throws it open with a frightening scowl on his handsome face. “Oh, you’re still here are you?” Mineta sneered as he took a step back. “Why the hell wouldn’t I be? This is the house of my intended, what brings you out here to visit us again?” Bakugou uses his much larger body to block the annoying young man’s view as he tries to look past him. “No one has seen y/n in town recently, so I just thought I’d check in-“ Katsuki interrupts the twerp “Correction; YOU haven’t seen her, we went into town just yesterday, Now correct me if I’m wrong but you sure do seem to have an interest in my soon to be wife, shouldn’t you be taking your vow of abstinence soon? If you plan on being a proper man of god that is”. “How dare you insinuate something so-“ Mineta tries to defend himself but Katsuki is quick to shut him down; “Stay away from my woman, she’s taken, or are you too stupid to understand what that means?” “Now see here, you just show up out of the blue one evening claiming that her parents planned on marrying her off without any proof of it…I’m merely looking after my father’s flock, as they will be under my protection one day so it’s only normal for me to look into any situations I think have inkling of some sort of supernatural dabbling or rather unholy air about them” Mineta sniffs as he smirks at the angry “man” infront of him “Miss y/n has such a pretty neck, would be a shame if it was to remain unprotected wouldn’t it?”.
The sound of your name was enough to make Katsuki keep his anger in check, and he couldn’t help but laugh at Mineta’s attempt at a threat. “It’s a good thing she has me here with her then isn’t it?” Without waiting for a response he shuts the door, laughing loudly as he left a scandalized Mineta staring slack jawed at it.
“I’m back!” You called out as you hung up your coat and removed your shoes. The heavy basket on your hip filled with apples but a couple extra things on top of it. “Welcome home my dearest, you were later than I’d imagined…I was about to go out looking for you” Katsuki appears in the doorway of the kitchen, allowing you to slip past him. “I’m sorry to worry you, MoMo and Ochako invited me to prepare pies with them! I think it was just so they could question me about the handsome man who accompanied me to the market yesterday…When I mentioned being “engaged” they almost lost it, MoMo sent me home with a bottle of her father’s apple wine as a present!”. You stopped unpacking your basket after making a sudden realization, “You made dinner for us? Oh Katsuki you didn’t have to-“.
“I wanted to give you the night off since you were out with your friends, i assure you it wasn’t that big a deal my love” Your face heated up at that last part, you were quick to set about putting your already prepared pies in the oven. Afterwards you allowed Katsuki to pull out your chair at the kitchen table, pushing it in before taking a seat himself. You noticed he already had poured each of you a glass of the gifted wine, and as he raised his own you were quick to mimic his action. “To us” he said simply, giving you that devilish smirk that made you feel all sorts of ways you shouldn’t. “T-Too us” you simper, raising the glass to your lips. After taking a bite of the meal Katsuki had prepared you stared at him wide eyed, “This might be the best thing Ive tasted in my entire life!”. The rest of the meal went on in a similar manner, you continuously complementing the smug man’s cooking longer after he had finished. Regardless, he waited for you patiently to be done, unable to take his eyes off of you as he sipped at the wine in his glass.
Once the kitchen was cleaned and the pie had been removed from the oven, you set it on the cooling rack and began to fidget nervously upon realizing all your night time chores were done. “Come sit with me beautiful” Katsuki called to you from the usual spot the two of you occupied on the plush living room rug. “I was thinking about heading to bed early tonight…if you’d like to come join me” you say over your shoulder as you head towards the bedroom. Having been on this earth long enough to recognize what that meant, the vampire was on his feet in an instant. You’d just began to undress as he entered the room, watching with hunger as your dress fell to the floor. Once you had everything off, you shyly turned back towards him and he was infront of you in the blink of an eye. Allowing him to pull you forward against his hard body, the feeling of his cold hands was soothing across your warm skin. You feel your back meet the old worn blankets of your bed, you tried your best to remain calm as you feel his tongue slip past your lips. Soon you were copying his actions, a burning need starting to build between your legs as you felt his manhood slipping across your sticky lower lips. “I-I’ve never done this before” you manage to stutter out. The man above you replied with a gentle hum, he figured as much, “Do you want me to stop? We don’t have to-“ “No I want to give myself to you, I want you to be the one…I want to be able to remember this night long after you’ve moved on and left me…” your words have you feeling choked up, the thought of him leaving you eventually, has now become a painful one. Seeing your eyes filled with tears is what finally makes the cold undead monster accept the fact that he truly had fallen in love. You were without question his destined one, the only person capable of stirring up these feelings inside of him. “What if I want to stay here with you? What if I asked you to really become my wife? The only woman I’ll ever want, the only woman I could ever truly love?” Those words felt so foreign on his tongue, but seeing the happiness in your eyes and having your arms wrap around him in the tightest of hugs, had him happy to have said them.
“Then I would say please make love to me, and how much I love and adore you, my future husband”
Katsuki made sure to keep a level head once the tip of his cock breeched your virgin cunt. The tight heat of your internal walls and the sound of your pained whimpers was almost proving to be too much for him. “Can I move now angel? Are you ready for what’s to come?” The strain in his voice is evident and you cling tighter to your lover as you encourage him to continue. It took a bit to get used to the continuous intrusion and withdrawal of his hardness but after some time had passed the good feelings began to come. “Oh Katsuki, ohhh god I’ve never felt like this before, please give me more I want to feel all of you” you cry as your nails scrape at the skin of his back. Allowing himself to get lost in the sensation of being inside of you, he can do nothing but comply to your request. The once shallow thrust of his hips become deeper as the pace becomes to quicken. Feeling you tightening up around him and hearing your begging has his own orgasm overcoming him, “Come with me angel, I wanna feel you let go while I fill up your tight little cunt…that’s it there you go baby, take it fucking take all of it…fuck!”.
You let out the most content of sighs at the feeling of his seed pouring into your womb. Over come by the bliss of your first ever orgasm, you kiss Katsuki again, playfully sucking on his tongue. After a few moments of silence he feels you shifting beneath him, lifting his head up he’s surprised to see the serious look you’re giving him. “I meant what I said, I know I’m in love with you…but I need you to tell me the truth, what was the real reason you came here? Your answer won’t change the way I feel, you’ll still have a place here with me, but if I’m to truly give you all of my love then there can’t be any lies between us”. The empty feeling as he pulls out of you is an obvious shared one, because you find yourself being pulled against his chest as soon as you had begun to scoot towards the man you love. Katsuki feels his frozen heart grow heavy with fear at you not accepting him or his love for you. Expecting to be forced from your bed as soon as he utters his confession. Yet your reaction comes In a surprising manner, one he’ll eventually come to expect from you in the future. “Oh….well don’t you need to you know…drink some of my blood?”. So he does.
The sensuality of the action leads to you begging to once again to make love, and you do until the sun comes up. He doesn’t let you leave the bed when you finally wake up, and the two of you take turns feeding each other apple pie afterwards. The new found domesticity in his once tumultuous life has the vampire relaxing into it with surprising ease. It most likely stemmed from the continuous outpouring of your love and the eager ways you displayed your affections. He’d met the townsfolk and friends you’d spoken so highly of. The same people who attended the marriage ceremony, had even come together to throw you two a celebratory banquet and toasted to your lengthy and loving union. The daily routine you’d developed now as newly weds didn’t differ much from what it had been before. With the exception of Katsuki venturing out more, helping the townsfolk do various odd jobs with which they’d require either his muscle or wide array of skills to get completed easier.
On nights he returned home late, you’d often be waiting up for him in bed, naked as the day you were born and wanting something you still became flustered to ask for. It was only after you’d spent one full year of your lives together when you began waking up feeling ill and much too tired to leave home as often anymore. After coming to visit you one morning, MoMo had returned that afternoon with the town’s doctor. One check up told him all he needed to know, and you nearly fainted after he spoke “Congratulations Mrs.Bakugou, it seems you’re with child”.
You let Momo talk your ear off with excitement as she helped you prepare dinner. Your hand resting upon your stomach after giving her a hug and bidding her goodbye. You tried to calm your nerves as you awaited your husband’s arrival back home. The knowing smile MoMo gave Katsuki as she bid him hello when they met on the road, seemed to freak the man out and afterwards he rushed home. The two of you ate dinner in mostly silence that evening, and once you were finished your lover has no objections as you pull him towards the fireplace. Once settled in his tight hold, you told him what the doctor had said earlier. The joy you’d expected from your partner was replaced with a look of bewildered confusion, “H-How? That shouldn’t be possible! Are you sure?!”.
You begin to shrink in on yourself, already beginning to picture a future of you and your baby alone. In his surprise the vampire had allowed his grip to go slack, this made it easy for you to move away from him and get to your feet. He looked up at you, but the faraway look in his gaze made it appear as if he was looking through you. Rather than continue standing there and looking foolish, you fled to the bedroom. Once the door shut behind you, you finally began to cry. Curling up on your now shared bed, you sobbed your heart out. He’s going to leave now, I’ll have to do this alone.
Meanwhile in the living room, Bakugou was still sitting gobsmacked in-front of the fireplace. Pregnant? But how? It just couldn’t be! He’d been positive the ability to impregnate someone had been lost with his humanity. Granted, it’s not as though any human he’d taken to bed in the past lived to tell the tale. You’d looked so excited to inform him of this new development, and now… The thought of your eyes losing the sparkle that accompanied your excitement, your lips trembling as you tried not to cry. “Dammit!” He hissed in frustration, realizing you’d left him alone in here awhile ago.
The bedroom door creaked quietly as Katsuki peeked In, you weren’t moving in your fetal position on the bed. Your even breathing was picked up by his heightened sense of hearing. You must have cried yourself to sleep…Silently he approaches the bed, leaning down to place a single kiss on your forehead, “I’ll be back, I promise”. If you had been awake you’d have seen the shadows in the bedroom elongate and seemingly absorb Katsuki inside of them.
Appearing inside of a well worn house just as far out in the woods as your own, Katsuki glanced around the living room. Deciding he wasn’t about to go hunting around for the owner of the home, the blonde takes a deep breath, only to immediately bellow “Where are you? You damn DEKU!”. A commotion comes from behind one of the two doors off the living room’s hallway, a few more bumps could be heard, another loud yelp afterwards. The door opened just as the vampire was about to start cursing, “O-Oh hey th-there kaachan! What brings you-“ stutters the green haired man as he tries to stifle a yawn. “What took so long were you asleep or some shit?” Katsuki questions raising an eyebrow, but before the other male can reply he continues, “Cause if you were I don’t care, I need to ask your opinion on something”.
Seeing the way Deku’s face lit up at that Katsuki sneers at him, “Not that it’s worth anything I just…I don’t want to fuck this up”. Izuku starts the fire back up in the grate as he sits on his sofa, ready for his old friend to begin his explanation. “You got married and didn’t even bother sending me an invitation? Not even an announcement? That’s hurtful Kaachan…I thought we were past all th-“ Izuku’s chastising is cut short by Bakugou’s temper flaring up “THATS ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY AFTER MY ENTIRE EXPLANATION?!?!”. Then it dawned on the other man, Izuku may be petty, but there was a much bigger problem to deal with than that. “Did you say your lover is…pregnant? It can’t possibly be YOUR baby Kaachan, she must be lying or-“ “Don’t you dare say another bad word about y/n! I know that baby is mine, there is no way it could be anyone else’s! She’s never been with anyone other than me and I know that for a fact” Katsuki spat, red eyes narrowed at the other immortal man.
Izuku gets up, muttering as he grabs a candlestick, lighting it then entering the previously closed door. Before the angry vampire can start his rant, his companion returns with a few different books in his hands. Spreading out the large tombs infront of the fire he begins to pour over the various dog eared pages. Katsuki had sat quiet, letting the damn nerd do his research and hoping he’ll have an explanation to give him as hours fly past. The sun would rise soon, he knows that you waking up alone would only worsen the pain he’d caused you last night. “I need to get back to her, so-“ Katsuki is interrupted by Izuku “Take that orange gemstone so I can find or signal you, the one on my nightstand that you refused to take last time I-“. “Got it, look, I know it’s annoying to do this but if you do figure this out then….I guess you can come to dinner or something, to meet y/n! Not as a thank you or some simp shit like that” The blonde refuses to meet the ecstatic green eyes that began to sparkle with happiness. “I’m going to hold you to that Kaachan” “Tch, of course you Fuckin’ are…nerd!”.
Sneaking back into the bedroom, the nervous vampire sheds his clothes before sliding into bed behind you. He’s gentle when his arms wrap around you, his larger hand coming to rest over your’s laying protectively atop your belly. “I love you and whatever you got growing in there….I couldn’t leave you guys even if you asked me to” he whispers, squeezing your soft body and finally allowing himself to relax. For the first time in a long time he dreamt of his mortal life; Being a carefree child, living with his loud mom, and quiet dad.
It took a couple days of constant reassurance, but you soon began believing Katsuki when he said he wasn’t planning on abandoning you or the baby. Izuku had yet to contact him, and it made the vampire anxious. After completing some work in town for the day, Katsuki began to feel a familiar hunger in his gut…How could this work if you were now carrying a baby? It needed all your nutrients, but still Katsuki wouldn’t be satisfied with anything other than your blood. He’d make sure you ate a bigger dinner than usual tonight to hopefully replenish what he takes from you later on.

The moon shifted behind the clouds as Mineta makes his way out of town and through the woods. He’s a coward at heart, every little sound of leaves rustling or twigs snapping has him jumping or running. Finally he sees your cabin up ahead, and he tip toes stealthily up the path. As he gets closer the sounds that reach his ears are something better than any fantasy he could imagine. Peering through the gap in the blinds he sees you spread out infront of your fireplace. If only you were alone… Of course you were getting pounded by that damn Bakugou, or that’s what it seemed like…Hold on what is he-? The peeping Tom stifles a gasp as he takes in the scene behind the glass. He’s careful as he slowly walks back the way he came, a look of absolute terror on his face.
A vampire! You married one of those undead demons of hell, not only that but you let him ravage, defile you, and calmly lay there allowing him to drink your blood? Surely you could see reason and repent for all this wrong that you’d been coheresed into participating in. Mineta knew it was his personal duty to bring you back into the light, and assist you in casting out that hellspawn. This task was up to him alone, he wouldn’t tell anyone! You would become his wife afterwards, lest he threaten to tell the entire town you’d laid with a demon, a hit your reputation would never recover from, you’d be exiled from society. The perverse mind of the preacher’s son began fashioning the most absurd of tales that made him out to be heroic and magnificent; Busting into your home and saving your life but as for your unfortunate coward of a husband…he will have taken his own life after selling you off to a demon. Surely the townsfolk and his father would praise him for such noble acts of bravery for years to come!

“I didnt take too much did I? Are you sure you don’t want to wait and finish this up tomorrow” the fretful voice of your husband asks as he hovers over you. Katsuki was hesitant to continue making love to you after he’d had his fill of your blood. You appreciated the concern, but right now you felt quite lively, and something inside of you wanted sex now more than ever. So imagine the surprise of your lover, when you sat up quickly and shoved him down on the rug in your place. Not giving the vampire a chance to recover as you began to lower yourself down on his length, hissing softly at the familiar stretch. No time was wasted once you had him buried inside your cunt, you began to bounce yourself up and down repeatedly. “I don’t need you to be gentle and doting right now, I need this!” You shamelessly exclaim, throwing your head back and moaning loudly as you continue riding your lover enthusiastically. Katsuki could only lay there and stare at you in wide eyed fascination. His adorable shy little wife was the one fucking him? This can’t be right, who are you and what had you done with y/n? Then a thought occurred to him, could this be a side effect of human pregnancy? The vampire had been learning by trial and error when it came to both bodily and hormonal changes being experienced by his pregnant wife.
As the months begin to progress, Katsuki began to notice you growing pale and increasingly more exhausted. It scared him one day when you’d slept over twelve hours straight. With no word still from that damn Deku, the irritable immortal decided to take things into his own hands. You probably wouldn’t appreciate just drinking blood outright, but the little leech inside of you needed it, and it would continue taking yours if it didn’t get the sustenance it required. Soon it was your husband who prepared all the food you ate, and slowly but surely you regained your color, energy, and started gaining weight. When the doctor came for your six month check up, he’d ruled both mother and child to be healthy. When he mentioned how quickly the baby was developing, you’d mentioned the father’s family’s good genes being to thank.
After showing the physician out, Katsuki was about to serve you dinner, only for a frantic knocking to interrupt this. Resting a hand on your shoulder to make sure you stayed seated at your rickety kitchen table, the angry blonde stomps out to shoo this unwanted visitor away. As soon as he opens the door however, the sight of his old friend standing there with a shit eating grin on his freckled face, only makes the vampire’s teeth clench and eyes narrow. “I believe you invited me over for dinner Kaachan” Izuku’s smile widening as he continues “Arent you going to invite me inside? It’s chilly out here”. “My love, who is it?” You call out, waddling slowly from the kitchen only to spot the newcomer and freeze. No longer waiting for an invitation, the guest side steps Katsuki and strides towards you. “Hello! My name is Izuku Midoryia, and you must be y/n! Kaachan and I have been best friends since we were children, im so happy to finally be meeting you!” The green haired male moves to hug you but stops short, blushing furiously as he reigns himself in. Only to be surprised by you moving the rest of the way to try your best at hugging, despite your baby bump lightly poking at him.
“How far along are you? If you don’t mind me asking?! Oh and Congratulations!” Izuku stammers, nervous he will invoke the wrath of an angry Kaachan. “Six months! And thank you! I’m glad you finally came to see us, Katsuki had mentioned you once but refused to tell me anymore about you or anyone else in his life for that matter” you chirp happily, letting the aforementioned male steer you back into the kitchen “Let me grab you a chair! The other two are in the closet-“. Before your guest can refuse you over exerting yourself, Katsuki makes sure you sit down and pushes your chair in. Then he leaves the room and reappears immediately, huffing angrily as he shoves the chair into Deku with more force than necessary.
You and Izuku chat animatedly as Katsuki brings the dishes full of food to the table. Grabbing an extra set of silverware, glass, and plate for the green eyed idiot, who promptly thanks him. Katsuki loads your plate up ridiculously full and kisses your forehead as you thank him for cooking yet again. Always the observant one, Izuku noticed that the food on your plate had been purposely separated from the rest of the meal laid out on the table. As he served himself he smiled at the realization that his friend had figured something so important out on his own. The deliciousness of this meal was not to be wasted on the pregnant female, or the green haired know it all. Katsuki drained half a bottle of spirits to put up with the non stop praise from the two of them.
The trio moved to the living room, getting comfortable on the worn out furniture and continuing to make conversation late into the evening. Katsuki noticed your eyes growing heavy, despite your protests he scoops you up and takes you to the shared bedroom. “Good night Izuku! See you next week at the same time, right?” You shouted over your lover’s shoulder. “Most definitely, sweet dreams y/n-Chan & baby!” Deku replied, still smiling as he stayed put on the sofa. Staring into the fireplace the flames dancing around inside his green eyes, the cheerful disposition you’d left him with began to dissipate the longer he waited. This conversation was going to be as dreadful as it was difficult, a serious choice needed to be made. A choice that would end your life either way it was decided, but it had to be done. You were too far along for any sort of pregnancy termination, the alchemist had spent an extra month trying to find some sort of extraction method but at six months there was nothing more that could be done.
Ever the doting husband; Katsuki helps you strip down and ensures the room will stay warm enough, courtesy of the new wood stove he’d acquired. Since your tummy began to grow you’d taken to sleeping in just your panties, now the room was always comfortable in temperature for you both. “I need to talk to Deku some before he goes, I’ll come lay down with you afterwards” your lover says, kissing your lips and pressing another to your stomach before he leaves the room. Sleep came easily to you that night.
The two men sat side by side on the sofa, the room around them growing ever darker as the lamps had been extinguished. The dwindling fire had been reduced to embers by the time the green haired male finishes filling in the other on the research he’d done. The pitch black surrounding them was a perfect representation of their conversation, and overall disposition. The blonde hid his face in his hands halfway through the other’s explanation. His friend waited for the other to speak, calmly allowing the much needed moment of silence. Izuku knew Katsuki was coming to terms with what had to be done, this would weigh heavily on his conscience for years to come. Either way the love of the vampire’s life was doomed, the choices were essentially the same. That being said, they were also drastically different….It had to be your choice, and when the time comes hopefully your husband would honor your wishes.
“The doctor in the village obviously can’t deliver the baby…So wha-“ one immortal talks over the other, saying; “If you will agree to it, I will assist you with the birth”. Sighing heavily the father to be comes to an agreement with the man seated beside him. “Well I’ll get out of your hair now, good night Kaachan” Izuku says quietly as he begins casting the spell that will return him to his own residence. “Y/n’s looking forward to seeing you again so you better show up” the threatening implication evident from the always aggressive one. “I wouldnt dream of missing it, see you then” as soon as Izuku says this he disappears. Katsuki sighs heavily, now left alone with his thoughts he begins to tremble and tug at his hair. Knowing you were the only cure for this pain he was experiencing, has the vampire hurrying into your shared room. After stripping down and sliding into bed, he pulls you close. Sleep eluded him that night.
“Katsuki…what’s wrong?”you asked him after dinner one evening, “Ever since Izuku came by you’ve been acting different”. The words of his dearest of course rang true; Katsuki had been in a constant state of complacency since the alchemist’s departure. His self loathing had reached an all time high, how could he have possibly done this to you? No matter how badly he felt he could never fully bring himself to regret ever catching sight of you that first time. The creature that is supposedly cruel to the core and incapable of feeling love, or any emotion for that matter, had proved centuries of lore to be a lie. The sad part about it was that you would be the one to pay the ultimate price. “Katsuki”
You weren’t about to let him keep this from you anymore, he had to tell you. Allowing yourself to be lead to the same spot you and him had occupied that first night you’d met, you sat down and watched him pull the drapes closed and extinguish the kerosene lamps. When he finally came to rest by your side, you couldn’t help noticing the grave expression and pain in his crimson eyes. “This is going to be hard for you to hear, and it sure as fuck is hard for me to say…so please don’t interrupt me until I’m done explaining” he begs, hands gripping your’s tightly. You nod and he swallows thickly, pressing a kiss to your forehead and holding your body close to his so gently it’s as if he thinks you might break.
“A child being conceived between a human and vampire is incredibly rare…It’s also extremely dangerous, if the child isn’t given the required amount of sustenance than it will begin to feed on the life source of its mother…Which can be depleted in a matter of days, I figured that out when you began getting pale and could barely get out of bed so that’s not the issue we’re currently facing” Katsuki pauses, his hold tightened around you as he forces himself to get through this, “I had Deku researching this topic and it took him over a month to track down anything, what he found wasn’t exactly great…”. Another pause, he remained quiet for so long you turned your head to look up at his face, what you saw was surprising but before you could mention it he started speaking shakily, despite the tremors and tears leaking down his face. “The birth of our child will kill you, and the only way to save you would be for you to become like me…Either way you won’t be a normal human again, I-I’m so sorry y/n, for not just coming in and ruining your life, but now it’s my fault it’s going to be ending now too, and I-“ you silence him with a kiss, wrapping your arms around him and holding him tightly. “I dont care about that, I care about you and the new life we’ve miraculously created, I want us three to be a family, I want to spend forever by your side Katsuki” You begin to cry too but not from the thought of losing your life, “Please don’t let me miss out on our child’s life because you think it’s wrong to change me, to me that change doesn’t warrant death, it’s the promise of a new and happy life “.
He tried to argue with you, tried to get you to tell him how awful and selfish he’s been, but you wouldn’t. By the time the two of you lay together in bed that night everything was calm, you’d both decided that your baby would grow up with both parents to help nurture and guide it. “Katsuki?” “Yes Princess?” “Um..is there a chance that I could become pregnant again after our first baby is born?” You avert your eyes from his, nervous as to how he will feel about you possibly hinting at carrying more half vampire babies. “There will always be a possibility for the rest of your undead life…. But you don’t sound too upset about it” Katsuki replied, smirking as he takes the chance to give you a hard time “Do you want more little leeches running around? Or you just want me to breed you hm? Is that it?”. When you don’t respond he chuckles, “Good night my love”.
With the birth of your child a mere week away the village women had gathered at your home to throw you a baby shower. Your husband was busier than ever since he was going to take a month off from working all his various odd jobs, and fortunately everyone in the surrounding area had made the most of this. So money wasn’t going to be a worry as the two of you adjusted to life with a newborn. The final job had been raising Ezikel’s new barn and it was well after dark by the time the soon to be father was heading home. Bakugou’s head was filled with thoughts of you and his child, he was happy and actually smiling as he walked.
Then all of the sudden, he wasn’t.
The vampire’s hand clawed at his chest as this sudden burst of searing pain began in his long still heart. It was so bad he nearly collapsed, and it didn’t stop, it only intensified. Something had to of happened to you or the baby and upon realizing that, Katsuki’s running at an inhuman pace through the forest.
Please let them be okay, just hold on until I get there!
The door of the house was wide open and the sign of a struggle was evident. Distressed cries coming from the bedroom alerted him to where you are. He was in the bedroom doorway in an instant and white got fury burned him from the inside out at what he saw.
With a rage and strength unimaginable by a mere mortal, the furious vampire ripped the preacher’s son away from you and threw him from the room. Dazed by the force he hit the ground with, Mineta is slow to sit up and attempt to blink the world back into focus. Only for a snarl that would befit a beast from the depths of hell to bring the man back to earth. Grabbing the crucifix around his neck the purple haired rat began to scoot himself backwards. “Stay away from me you demon! Unclean beast!”. Attempting to flee from the advancing blonde monster, whose eyes glowed like the flames of hellfire itself. Without a word Bakugou lunges forward, Mineta shrieks as he throws his body to the side, knocking over a table that held a kerosene lamp atop it.
Katsuki grabs ahold of his prey, instantly crushing the terrified man’s windpipe. He keeps gripping the mortals throat until his face matches his hair and his eyes shut. “Don’t worry, you’re just going to take a little nap, and once you are awake I’m going to drag out your death and torture you all night you disgusting piece of shit” the blonde sneers as he scowls down at the unconscious Mineta.
“K-Ka-Katsuki!”
The terrified shout from his wife snaps Bakugou from his predatory state of mind. That’s when he realizes that half of their home has been set alight, the fire was spreading, it’s flames growing rapidly in height. In an instant he was back at your side, carefully picking you up, making sure to wrap your blanket around you as the two of you fled outside. Now a safe distance away from the flames, but the sight of your Home burning still in your shared line of sight. “Baby, I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for you, as soon as I sensed you were in trouble I came…I can’t believe this happened, are you-“ A familiar scent reaches his nose, and the feel of wet fabric beneath his shaking palms has crimson eyes growing wide in terror. Peeling the blanket back, his worst nightmares were brought to life. Your clothes were soaked with blood, and the slice in the material showed the deep stab in your stomach. “Kat…Suki I don’t have much time” “Y/N! No don’t say that! Dammit why didn’t you say anything!” Katsuki shouts, but not out of anger it’s pure despair that sounds beneath his normally harsh baritone. “I cant feel…can’t feel our baby anymore…” a choked sob racks your entire body “It’s gone, before they even had a chance to be…Listen to me please Katsuki, my greatest and only love”. Your shaking hands grip each of his cheeks as you struggle to keep your eyes open, “Im sorry to have to leave you alone again…but please don’t give up on me, I’ll be reborn one day, and I don’t know how long it will take, who I will be, or where on earth I will reside, but please look for me, find me again, even if I resist you at first, make sure we’ll never have to suffer like this again, make sure that we’ll truly be together forever next time, promise me?”.
“I promise”
With the last of your strength you force your head up and kiss the only entity in this world that you vow to ever love. You’re both crying once your grip on him goes slack, “I love you Katsuki, please remember what you promised me, don’t give up-“. The blood from your hands left smudges on his cheeks, but the trails of blood pouring down his face come from his tears. “Y/N?” He croaked, you didnt finish speaking, your eyes remained shut. “Y/N?!” The roof of your home caves in as the fire enveloped the entirety of the structure. In the midst of the chaos a figure appears, emerald eyes widen in a panic as they began to take in their surroundings. Before Izuku can call out for either of you the most heartbreaking wail assaults his ear drums. Whirling around the sight that greets the alchemists has hot coals of dread piling in his gut, “K-Kaachan!”.
His best friend was hunched over someone, clutching their face and it seemed like he was trying to wake them. “Let me see her! I can help, I brought my things with me!” Izuku exclaimed as he rushed over and kneeled beside the two of you. “She’s gone, They both are…There is nothing to be done, my love and my child are dead…” the blonde immortal stuttered, leaving his friend shocked. “How could this have happened?! What-“ before he can ask any more questions, Katsuki snarls with a vitriol that not even Deku has bore witness to “That fucking preachers son! He’s lucky he burned in the fire, I would have flayed him alive!”. Placing you on the ground with the utmost care, the grieving immortal lifts his head to the darkened sky and screams; “FUCK! FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!”. His hands tangle and tug at his blonde locks, he didn’t care how deranged he might look in this moment. There was a hollowed feeling inside of his chest, the searing pain only worsening in both his heart and head.
Izuku could only watch Katsuki’s tirade in silence, he patted your hand gently as tears brimmed behind his eyes. You were a kind, loving, woman that had her whole life ahead of her…Only to have it stolen by a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Hearing the vampire’s broken sobs and screams as he mourns the love of his life, the alchemist can no longer ignore the revelations that will stick with him for the remainder of his immortal life. So rather than banishing the thoughts, he lets them echo freely, the barely there breeze carrying the words off into the night:
The true monsters of this world are those that walk undetected among us; With evil souls hidden behind smiles, deranged thoughts drowned out by laughter, bloodied hands appearing spotless as they reach out to those around them. Their next victim may be innocent, perhaps a bit too trusting, or just unwise to the stalking devil waiting for the right moment to strike.
The townsfolk will forever remain clueless of the tragic events that transpired on that fateful night. Regardless; They all mourned the loss of the little family that never came to be complete, and though the three of them were lost, the fond memories, and relationships each of them had built with the two young lovers remained alive within the living’s hearts and minds. Only to finally be laid to rest when the last of those who knew them personally, had died.
A/N: I’m not going to lie, I’m proud of myself for this one! Heart broken, but proud. One more chapter to go, and for anyone wanting revenge, I promise that it will be served up nice 😊

“Min–Minho…”
Oh, how sweet you sounded when you said his name like that… It was just how he’d dreamt it’d be. He’d heard you before, of course. But not in this situation, in this particular setting…
“My dad could be home anytime now–Oh, shit…” Your words got caught in your throat the second he bit one of your nipples. How could he not, when you were on his lap, with your uniform shirt open, and your bra just down enough for him to play with your chest.
“Shh, it’ll be fine, kitten”, Minho mumbled against the swell of your breast, leaving a love bite that he hoped would be visible when you wore one of your low tops. “If he were to come home, you know he doesn’t bother us when we’re doing our homework…”
You whined as soon as his mouth reattached to your nipple, as he gently rolled the other between his thumb and index finger… Your hands buried in his hair, keeping him close while you rolled your hips to find some friction against his crotch. The pressure had his mouth salivating further, borderline drooling all over your nipple like the dog he’d recently become.
Or, at least, in this fantasy, he had probably been turned a few years prior…
When you and Minho had come to your father’s house today to help him clean up some of your old stuff from your childhood room, Minho certainly hadn’t expected for the afternoon to take him right here. To him sitting on the edge of your bed, dressed in his school uniform, with you sitting on his lap, and dressed in your school uniform.
It had been such an impromptu thing… You found the pieces of clothing at the bottom of your dresser, forgotten from the last time you wore them in your final year. Back then, you always kept a spare change of Minho’s uniform for those nights when he unexpectedly stayed over.
‘Ohhhh, you should put it on. I used to love how the uniform looked on you’, you’d told him as you handed him the dress shirt with the school’s logo on it, and the white vest top he used to wear under it.
‘Alright, but only if you put on yours. The whole thing. I also loved how you looked in that uniform’, he’d told you immediately, because it was the truth. That plaid skirt and the white button-up used to make stellar appearances in his teenage-hormones-driven wet dreams.
He used to feel embarrassed about it. You were his best friend in this world, and the fact that he found himself daydreaming of how it’d look like if he took a peek under your skirt, or how it’d feel if he buried his face in your cleavage, certainly made him feel guilty.
Now, as an adult well into his twenties, after you both shared your affections, he no longer felt as guilty about it. Especially after learning that you yourself had those thoughts about him back then, too.
When you put on that uniform shy of fifteen minutes ago, Minho was reminded of all those thoughts he used to have, of all the sleepless nights and hidden chubs at school… It hit him then that maybe this was exactly why he loved seeing you in skirts so much in present day. A result of his teenage-self’s never fulfilled desires.
Sure, he couldn’t button his shirt since his shoulders and arms had broadened with age, and your skirt was certainly much shorter than it used to be, but that didn’t stop either of you from falling into your roles.
‘Mmm… It’s almost like we have just come back from school and are getting ready to get some work done’, you chuckled as you looked at yourself in the mirror and adjusted your thigh high socks.
That sentence alone lit up the bulb in his head, it sparked a naughty little idea that he knew you’d either entertain or laugh about. Either result was fine by him, so he had no qualms when he walked behind you, and looked at you through the mirror.
Calling your name as he placed his hands on your waist, Minho had asked you to turn around to face him. ‘There’s… there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you for so long… Please don’t be mad…’
Minho feigned nervousness, like he was once again that boy that had seemingly unrequited feelings for his best friend.
‘I really, really like you… Can’t stop thinking about you. How’d it be like to kiss you, to feel you close in ways other than platonic. You’re my best friend, and I cherish that deeply, but I just… I like you so much’, funny thing, how those were pretty much the same words he’d wanted to say to you back then. Words he had practised in front of the mirror a few times, but he was always too much of a coward to actually tell you.
You looked at him in what Minho figured was feigned shock. Oh, how he loved you… You just knew him so well, and knew exactly what he was doing without saying a single word. ‘I… I like you, too. Have liked you for so long, Minho…’
Minho had cupped your cheeks and pulled you in for a kiss. He kissed you as if he’d never done it before, desperately, hungrily, no time for being tender and soft when all he’d wanted was to devour you whole. And you had retaliated, of course. You’d pulled him close by the collar of his shirt and pressed your chest to his, kissing him with fervour.
‘Even if I’m… If I’m now…’ A beast, was what he wanted to say as he spoke between kisses. Minho had maybe fallen a little too well into this role of his younger self. He could still remember how insecure he used to be about his condition, how he looked down on himself after being infected with this goddamn lycanthropy… Those were feelings that no longer existed within him, he had now long since accepted this was part of him. If anything, with time, he’d embraced it.
‘I’d like you even if… Even if you were a worm’, you replied simply, making him giggle, which in turn made you giggle.
Minho scooped you into his arms after that, and he walked the remaining steps to your childhood bed so he could sit on it with you on his lap. In no time, he was groping you over your shirt, under your skirt, and you had started to beg for him to touch you more.
His instincts were stunted, you knew that, he knew that, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have this animal side to him. Sometimes, especially when he was horny, that animalistic side of him took over his logical mind, and, back when he was a teen, he could recall having a harder time with certain feelings and emotions like these. So, he let them cloud his reason a bit as he fulfilled this little fantasy of his…
Minho ripped your shirt open, the buttons flew all over your room, and you gasped when he buried his head between your breasts. The thing was also a bit too tight on you, so he was sure you wouldn’t miss the garment if it got ripped a bit in the process.
You scrambled to take a hold of his hands, bringing them to your chest so he could fondle you over your bra, once again begging him to touch you. To ‘Please, please, Minho, touch me. I need it. I need you…’
And he was sure his cock was about to pop out of his jeans with how hard it got at your desperation.
So here you were, grinding into each other, on your childhood bed while Minho feasted on your tits.
“Fuck, that feels so good, baby. Harder. Do it harder…”
How could he deny you when you sounded so needy? When he’d wanted to do this for so long?
He bit harder, pinched harder, pulling strangled sounds of pleasure out of your lips. The more attention he gave to your chest, the more you rolled your hips against him, effectively pulling sounds of pleasure out of his lips.
His senses were flooded by you. The smell of your arousal on your lavender scent, your weight of him, the taste of your skin on his tongue, all combined had him almost delirious, especially when his free hand found its way under that godforsaken skirt of yours to tightly grope one of your buttocks.
“Baby, I think I’m… I might…”
Fuck, if you came just from him playing with your chest and you grinding your cunt on the tent in his jeans, he wasn’t sure if he’d be able to contain himself. Although, he supposed coming in his underwear would’ve been a very accurate representation of what would’ve happened if his teenage self had ever had the opportunity to have you on him like this…
Minho couldn’t help but groan when you tightened your grip on his hair, when you started to roll your hips faster, harder… God, all he wanted right now was for the girl of his dreams to come, he needed to feel you trembling in his hold, to drown in your scent so he could convince himself this was happening.
Seeing you come, holding you tight while you did, was just absolutely delightful. You bit on your fist to keep your moans contained, while your whole body shook with your release.
Minho had to make the conscious effort not to blow right then and there. He was sure that if this had happened back when you were still that young, he would’ve certainly done so. He imagined that this would’ve probably been your first sexual experience together, that you’d laugh about how he soiled his underwear and how needy you’d been, before you laid down and cuddled for a bit…
Maybe you would’ve had sex a different time, on a different day where you were sure your dad wouldn’t come back home… But this wasn’t about being fully realistic, this was about having fun while fulfilling a shared fantasy.
“Fuck, Minho, baby, stop… I’m sore…”
Minho finally pulled himself away from your chest, mumbling a very unconvincing ‘Sorry’ before he attached his lips to the pulse point on your neck, relishing how fast your blood was pumping in your veins.
“You’re so fucking hot, my kitten. I’ve been dreaming of this moment, y’know?” He mumbled in your ear, taking one of your breasts in his hand to fondle the flesh, with special care to not stimulate your nipple too much.
“Me too, baby…” You were still trembling occasionally within his arms, taking deep breaths to get your racing heart to slow down inside your chest. “I’ve wanted this so bad… Even… Even touched myself thinking about it”.
“Mmm, fuck…” Minho started sucking love bites on your neck, following this faint need in his gut to leave his mark on you. “Have you?”
“I have… Sometimes, I did it while we slept in the same room”.
Minho wasn’t sure if this was you playing your fantasy, or if this was a real thing that happened, but, being honest, it didn’t matter. It made his mind disconnect completely as soon as the words came out of your mouth regardless.
Before he could even register it himself, he had stood up and thrown you on the bed, eliciting a shaky, surprised gasp from your lips. In a second, he was on you, kissing you hard, messily, even desperately. Your limbs wrapped around him, your arms around his neck, and your legs around his middle, bringing him further down to lay flush against you in your heated kiss.
He was dizzy, lightheaded, and for a second, he almost believed he was in the past, that he was making out with you on your bed after school, that he was about to lose his virginity to his best friend.
“Fuck, I need to put it in…” Minho barely detached his lips from yours while he spoke, just kept messily kissing you between words as he ground his hips to your core. “Please, please let me put it in… Need you…”
“We–we need a condom, Min”, your hands found their way under his top, where they settled to caress his back, making him shiver. “I don’t have any here”.
“Fuck, I don’t have any, either”, Minho left your lips to instead attach his own to your collarbones, to nibble on the sensitive skin, making you whine. “I’ll pull out. I got quick reflexes, it’ll be fine, please…”
He certainly was playing into this horny-teenage-boy thing all too well. Although, he was sure his younger self wouldn’t have been this stupid to believe just ‘pulling out’ would be an effective contraceptive, and surely neither would you. After all, back then, your dad made sure you both knew about being safe, which Minho was grateful for to this day.
Regardless, the very real implant you had in your arm made it so he could play like this, so you both could play like this.
“Shit, you’ll pull out?” Your hands trembled when they found his backside and squeezed him. “You would, wouldn’t you?”
“Promise, kitten. Cross my heart”.
One of your hands left his bum to move to his crotch, where you cupped and squeezed him and overall felt him over the fabric of his jeans. He couldn’t help but buck his hips to let you feel as much as you could of him. “Fuck, okay. But Min… I’m not sure this will fit…”
“It will. I’m sure it will. It has to. You trust me, no?”
With a deep breath, biting your lip, you nodded. “Trust you with my life”.
When Minho pulled himself away from your hold, he just had to tell you how fucking gorgeous you looked with your hair all messy, your tits out, your ripped shirt, and that fucking skirt… The hem pooled on your belly, exposing your underwear and the mouth-watering wet-patch on them.
God, he wanted a taste… But there wasn’t enough time for that right now.
Minho hastily unbuttoned his jeans, pulling them and his underwear down just enough to free his length. You swore under your breath, taking him into your hand and spreading the pre-cum that had beaded at the tip so you could easily stroke him.
“Baby, please…” You guided him to your core. With your free hand, you pulled your underwear to the side, and dragged the tip of his cock all over your folds. “Need it. Need you, Minho…”
One day you’d be the death of him, he was sure.
Under normal circumstances, Minho would’ve stretched you open with his fingers, he would’ve made sure you were absolutely ready to take that annoyingly big alpha cock of his. But he figured skipping the step would be a bit more… in character.
“Oh, fuck, fuck…” Minho pushed himself into your heat slowly, letting your walls adjust to his length with what he hoped wasn’t much discomfort. He knew that if there had been any, you would’ve said the word that would immediately stop everything you were doing. “That’s so fucking tight…”
You whined, not necessarily in discomfort, but in that way that made him know you were feeling impatient. Wrapping your legs around his hips, you tried to push on his backside to get him to get in already. “Please, I need it all. Now”.
“Shit–!” As soon as Minho bottomed out and had propped himself on his forearms, you took a hold of his hair and pulled him down for a messy kiss.
There was just so much spit. Everything was so sloppy and messy and he was honestly enjoying it way more than he ever thought he would.
“Fuck, you’re so hard… Can’t believe you fit”, you mumbled breathlessly against his lips, releasing his hair to place your hands on his back.
“Didn’t doubt–Shit, if you keep clenching like that I’ll come, kitten… Didn’t doubt I’d fit right in. Isn’t this cunt for me? Hm? Hasn’t it always been?” Minho didn’t even give you time to respond, he just started to thrust, a borderline animalistic pace that had you biting on his shoulder to muffle your moans.
There was nothing but heavy breaths and desperate groans and whines and moans… Nothing but the sound of skin slapping against skin and the headboard hitting the wall and your nails sinking on his clothed back…
Minho vaguely realised he was growling with each thrust. Like an animal. He was making all these sounds like the animal he was. And every time he did, your body just immediately reacted. Either by clawing at his back, or biting harder on his shoulder, or clamping hard around his length…
It was honestly driving him crazy. It reminded him that, ultimately, you accepted him, that you loved him just as he was. What an odd, but pleasant reflexion to make when you both were fucking, and pretending to be your teenage selves at that.
“It–It is”, you meekly mumbled after a while, and Minho, a bit puzzled, pulled himself away from your neck to look you in the eyes. “It’s yours. Has always been. I’ve always been”.
Minho swore loudly, throwing his head back once your words registered properly in his hazy mind. Your cunt was his, you were his. You’ve always been…
That reassurance, coupled with the vice grip of your walls, got him so incredibly close…
“Fuck, kitten, gonna come. Need to–need to pull out”, Minho was panting, drunk on the pleasure he was feeling and the fog clouding his reason.
Your legs tightened around his frame, keeping him as close as you could while he kept thrusting into you. “What if–What if you don’t?”
“Oh, God… Don’t say that…”
“Why? What if I want your puppies? Hm?”
He was going to die. Minho was sure he was seeing the gates of heaven open up right in front of him.
“C–can’t. We can’t…” Shaking his head, Minho tried his best to hold back, a titanic effort with how fucking good you were making him feel, with how fucking in love with you he was.
“Can’t…?” There was a pout on your lips, highlighted by your blown pupils, and Minho, once again, shook his head in response.
Minho just desperately shook his head. “Kitten, baby, please…”
The hold of your legs relented. Minho immediately straightened himself and pulled out of your warmth to take his cock in one of his hands while the other gripped your hip tightly. One, two pumps and he was groaning deeply, coming all over your underwear, over your mound and your now only partially exposed folds.
The sight was nothing short of exquisite. Your wrinkled, open shirt, your tits still falling out of your bra, with your nipples slightly puffy after all the attention Minho had given them, the skirt hunched at your waist, and your underwear drenched in his cum…
Minho felt light, satisfied, and, as he tried to catch his breath, he just took you in.
After a few moments of silence–silence, save for the sound of your heavy breathing and the ringing in his ears–a grin made its way to your face, and, a second after, you broke into laughter. It made him laugh, too. Maybe uncontrollably so.
“Oh, that was awesome”, you chuckled, wiping the tears that had collected in your eyes at your outburst. “So good”.
“Totally agree”, Minho leaned into you to press a brief kiss on your lips before he left the bed to find a face towel from your dresser to clean up the stupid amounts of cum that had come out of his stupid monster cock off of your body.
“‘Suppose it was a good thing that my dad isn’t coming until very late today. It would’ve been seriously awkward to explain what was going on if he found us… Well, like this”, you started shrugging your shirt off as soon as Minho had finished cleaning you up, and proceeded to work the couple of buttons on your skirt.
“I don’t think he would’ve appreciated the sight, to be honest”, Minho chuckled, getting out of his shirt and vest top as well to put his t-shirt back on and do his jeans.
As soon as you two were dressed properly and in clean clothes, you both laid back down, unbothered by the soiled sheets. Minho simply pulled you into his arms, and pressed a brief kiss on your forehead before he hugged you close.
“Kitten…” Minho mumbled against your hair after a while, dragging his hand up and down your back in a gentle caress. “Was that true?”
You absentmindedly traced patterns on his chest, shapes that he could’ve sworn were hearts and stars. “Was what true?”
“Y’know… that thing about… About you touching yourself while I was in the same room…”
You pulled yourself away from his hold a bit so you could look him in the eyes. A smile came to your lips, right before you started opening your mouth to speak.

God damn I'm soooo happy with how this turned out! Especially after how much trouble Jazz's pose was to draw. Seriously Vlads pose came together so easily and I struggled for hours to draw Jazz. I have no idea why.
So I didn't really change Vlad and Jazz's designs for this au (except Jazz's bag) but I've been thinking about it a lot and decided to tweak their part in the story a little bit. Mostly I just want to keep Jazz and Vlad together instead of them joining the main trio separately. Yeah, so no more slave traders in this update.
Okay, so to outline their backstory. Vlad was born into a wealthy family and went to a very prestigious boarding school where he met Jack Fenton. Unlike Jack, who was very gung-ho about joining the hunters and slaying supernaturals, Vlad was more apathetic about the entire situation. Until an incident at the school led to Vlad being rescued by a supernatural.
Jack meets Maddie at the hunter academy. They fall in love, get married, (Vlad is Jack's best man at the wedding), and have their only daughter Jazz. (I should also mention Vlad is her Godfather in this au.) While Jack and Maddie are steadily rising through the hunters ranks and their missions take them far and long from home, Vlad pulls triple duty. Volunteering as an informant (now officially titled Advisors) in order to feed false information to the hunters, aiding supernaturals in crossing the border into the neighboring kingdom, and looking after his goddaughter.
Which means bailing her out of trouble with the hunters because she's an outspoken activist and supernatural sympathizer. Jazz is lucky her parents have such a high standing in the hunters organization and that Vlad is wealthy enough to bribe her out of trouble. Unfortunately, as the story goes, her luck (and Vlads) runs out.
Vlad is attacked by a panicked vampire, not realizing he wasn't a threat to her, and is turned. He tries to go about his days as usual. Trying to deal with the bloodlust on his lonesome (without his sire to guide him). He does everything he can to stave off his hunger. Feeding on small animals, biting his own hands; it helps, but only just.
Until finally, he goes too long in the day without a drop to keep himself sane. Nearly attacking Jazz, he is only just stops himself. A testament to his impeccable self control. Unfortunately Jack and Maddie had returned home (with a sizable hunter escort) at just the absolute worst moment, and see Vlad in his feral state. The hunters attack. Vlad fends them off as best as he's able, but he's outnumbered.
During the struggle Jazz tries to defend Vlad. Arguing with her parents, trying to get them to see the Vlad is not a monster. He's still their friend. In an adrenaline filled moment she attacks one of the hunters with whatever posh hallway decoration she can get her hands on. And with that her luck has finally run out.
Her parents high status can no longer save her from punishment. Normally she would've been hanged for treason however, Jazz and Vlad aren't the only supernatural sympathizers in this world. The hunters are losing favor with the public. Jazz and Vlad may just be their ticket to regaining it.
As in the original version of this the hunters enlist Freakshow and his circus to transport Vlad to the capital. Their instructions are to starve him completely so the he'll be absolutely monstrous and deadly. Their plan is to feed Jazz to him before sentencing him to death and hoping it will be enough to quell any further misgivings the public may have about the hunters and why they hunt.
Don't worry, Vlad and Jazz will be saved. Unfortunately not before Vlads feral appearance does exactly what the hunters want it to.

-----------------------------------------
The river was freezing when you got up that morning, basket of cloths in hand to wash. It had been your chore for a couple of weeks now, ever since Mela’s body was found at the bottom of the hill. She had been working with you at the manor for a couple of years now, another “stray” taken in by Lord Ahn and his family. She also wasn’t the first to be found, others found at the same dip in the bottom of the hill.
You and a couple of the others had taken on her chores along with the ones you already had, meaning you barely got any sleep lately. Not to mention the nightmares you had. You and your friend Lila had been the ones to find her, body mangled from being pushed down the hill. When you had told the Lord of the manor, he just smiled and told you to get back to work.
It was nearly springtime, meaning the water was going to be getting warmer, and more of your chores would be done outside. You loved the spring, all the flowers blooming and the sounds of the woods to drown out the sound of your mind. Your thoughts were always loud, overthinking and replaying different memories. Your mind never seemed to shut off, always loud and all-encompassing.
You had a hard time keeping still, your mind and body needing to do something. That was why you liked working outside the house whenever you got the chance. Whenever you were inside, you had to be still, someone seen and not heard. That was normal for women, especially those who worked for Lord Ahn.
Mr. Ahn liked looking. His eyes always wandered when he was home. He only employed the girls in the manor, the men working outside. You had once been tasked with cleaning the upper portion of the manor, where the family resided, when you first started working to “pay for your stay”. He watched you the entire time, silent as he did.
You didn’t want to alert anyone or anything of your presence.
You had your own stories, your home destroyed by a horde of giants set loose, smashing everything they could. Your parents and sister had been crushed by one of their feet, running from the market. Which is what got you here to the manor, the Lord’s family “happily willing” to take you in.
You didn’t want to think that you could lose another home at the hands of the witches. The Queen had become angry with the kingdom, setting lose her minions on the land, killing and pillaging wherever they could. Reanimated bodies were their favorite thing. The ghouls seemed to be popping up all over the kingdom, and it seemed as though the King or his guards were doing nothing about it.
When you were in school, you remember learning about the Witches, how their Queen was angry with your King, some broken promise, and that since then, she had taken that anger on his realm. Your teacher had tried to drill into your head that your safety was only ensured if you remained silent, something that stuck with you, even to this day.
“Y/n!” You turned your head, seeing Taemin coming to a stop, leaning on his tree to catch his breath. “Are you almost done? Lord Ahn is wanting all of us to come back to the manor. He seems upset.” Your eyes widen in fear, scrambling to gather the half-washed clothes and washing board, getting to your feet.
“Do you have any idea what happened?” You asked your friend as both ran back up the hill and to the manor.
Lord Ahn was known for his anger; the entire village knew it. No one was to speak of it though, for fear of repercussions on their own families. The word ‘no’ was the one thing none of the servants could say to him, not if they wanted their life to remain in their bodies.
“Well, let’s hurry. We don’t want to give him any more reasons.” You breathe out, picking up your pace with a tight hold on the basket.
When you get to the manor and move through the kitchen, placing your basket on the floor by the door, you both rush to your position in line in the hall, right at the end where your faces could be seen, eyes on the floor.
“Now, it seems to me that some of you…” You listen for the uptick in tone, knowing that Lord Ahn was really upset about something now. “think you can have a relationship within my house.” Oh no…. now you know why Jeongmin was all bruised up. She confessed.
You wince as you could hear her whimper, your body tensing as footsteps move closer to where you were. You knew there had been a couple of relationships going on within the household, particularly the one with Taemin and Yujin. You hoped that they weren’t the relationship he was talking about.
“You all know the rules, that I don’t expect much when you come into my household.” Lord Ahn’s voice had become deeper, darker as he spoke making your breath hitch, trying not to move.
Lord Ahn was now almost in front of you, about to say something else when the sirens from the village square went off, announcing the presence of non-humans. You move forward, ready to run when Lord Ahn catches you, his hand on your chest, keeping you from moving.
“Now, now. Since I’m sure all of you have been keeping these… secrets from me, you can stay here. Keep the house in order, as I’m sure nothing is truly going on.” You gape at the man, watching his smile turn into a dark smirk as his gaze turns to you.
“Min, Jung, help my family to the carriage. Kim, younger Kim, gather all the materials necessary and put them in the boot.” His hand is still on your chest as he barks out the orders, watching from his peripheral as the men he called forward move to do as he said.
“Sir,” You bite out, “What about the women?”
“Well, why don’t you continue your chores?” He squeezed once, before moving away and down the hallway.
Turning around, you watch him, mouth open in shock, the siren still ringing throughout the village. Feeling a hand grasp onto your shoulder, you turn back around, seeing Hana pull you back. Her gaze was soft, knowing how the sirens make you feel.
“Let’s just hope that it’s nothing. Come with me, we can finish the laundry in the sink.” Hana helps you walk forward, everyone else moving back to their chores. Once in the kitchen you pick up the laundry basket form the floor, noticing that the cabinets and pantry have been cleaned out.
“Did they take all of the food?” You ask, concern dripping from your lips as you think about being locked in the house with no food.
“It appears so. But don’t worry, I don’t think they touched the servant’s quarters.” Hana reassures you. You sigh out, moving to the sink where Hana has gotten some water. You empty your basket again, moving the washing board into the sink and then soap bar.
You hear the siren again, this time closer to the manor, swearing you could almost hear some screams mixed in. You chose to follow Hana’s lead, hoping that she was right about everything. You go through the motions, scrubbing the sheets with the soap and brush.
A scream has you dropping the brush from your grasp, the wooden handle making a clang as it hits the floor.
“Stay here.” Hana holds her hand up at you, motioning you to stay where you were. You do so, heart beating fast as you hear another scream cry out. You choose not to listen, moving through the back of the kitchen and down the hall to the servant’s quarters.
From there you can see through the narrow windows used for light. There were people running everywhere, people being pushed to the ground and having chunks bitten out of them by gray, almost see-through creatures.
Ghouls, you thought, eyes widening in horror as you watch a couple ghouls begin to move towards the manor. You look through the room, trying to see if you could find anything to defend yourself with, trying to ignore the screams that came from within the manor.
If these really were ghouls you were dealing with, there was nothing you could do to save anyone.
You could feel your cheeks becoming wet, trying to find a way to get out of the servant’s quarters without going back into the manor, as you still look for something that could create fire. You begin to freak out, flashbacks to the giants and the screams of terror as you hear the screams of now moving closer to where you were.
However, it gets silent quickly, the only noise heard is the sound of your breathing. Holding your hand over your mouth, you try to listen for anything else, only hearing the sound of something dragging across the floor. The crackling of something in the walls also catches your attention. It becomes louder and louder until suddenly; you were on the ground.
Everything seemed to be moving too fast for your mind to catch up with. You couldn’t feel your legs, but you could move them, somewhat. You felt like you had a huge weight on you and you could feel heat licking at your skin.
As your eyes begin to adjust, you could see the body of the ghoul who was still trying to get to you, and the fire that was now spreading over the rest of the manor, inching your direction.
Your wits come back to you; survival instincts kick in as a loud roar is heard with a gust of wind keeping the fire from reaching you. Despite that, you try all you can to move the pieces of the roof from anchoring your body to the wreckage of the manor before that ghoul can get to you.
It didn’t matter to you that he was also buried under the remnants of the roof, you needed to get away. You blinked hard, rapidly as you tried to remove your tears from obstructing your vision. Using all your might, you tried to push the roof off of you, grunting as you failed again and again.
Another loud roar had you scrambling even faster, trying with all your strength to get out from under the rubble. Before you could get your leg out, the heavy material was yanked off of you, a growl as your bruised legs were visible.
You look up in horror, only to see who you recognize at King Min staring down at you, his eyes red and his fangs visible as he looks at you. Your frozen in place, unable to move as his red eyes pierce your soul and keep you still.
It’s only a couple of seconds before the King lunges for you, making your close your eyes in fear. Arms wrapping around you and picking you up from the rest of the roof and walls of the servant’s quarters.
“Please...” You whimper, not knowing what the King was going to do with you, only for him to place a hand behind your head, pushing so your head was rested against the juncture between his neck and shoulder.
One little word has you blinking away even more tears, a slew of emotions moving through you as you take it in. Your finger gripping tight into his button up shirt, the buttons almost popping loose from how tightly you hold onto it.
King Min moves quickly, walking out of the rubble and into the trees, a clearing by the river coming into the view as he shifts, his wings breaking out from the back of his shirt, the rest of his shirt now loose in your grip as he begins to fly away, to a place unknown to you. You were only focused on what he had growled out when he picked you up.
“Mate.”

Person A is a god of prophecy living life as a human and runs a talk show where they bring up what-if scenarios which sound crazy but will come true within a decade or so and discusses the scenarios with specialists - some who agree and some who argue with them about their theories about the future being impossible. Person B is someone who has gotten fairly famous on the internet and openly claims Person A’s what-if scenarios are too obvious and predictable. Person A, curious and competitive and loving to make people who doubt them look stupid down the line, invites Person B to their show. But upon meeting Person B, Person A realizes Person B also has the gift of prophecy but is completely unaware that they do. Person B has lived their whole life not realizing that no one else can see the future as clearly as they can and just thinks everyone is pretending to not know rather than really not knowing.
