After days of intense renovation on your rooms, it was all set for a calming night with your roommate. But now, you find yourself spending it alone.
To avoid lingering on conflicting emotions of confusion, solitude, disappointment, and interest, you treated yourself to your favorite pizza while you watched Naruto Shippuden.
You recently started watching anime. When you were younger, you'd occasionally watch a few Yu-Gi-Oh or Dragon Ball episodes when nothing else was on.
However, it wasn't a regular occurrence. You've been interested in anime for the last two years. The fascination started when your university required you to travel to complete your degree.
Two of your friends were in a similar situation, living in the same country and not far apart, so you spent a lot of time together. Both were big anime fans, and they tried to convince you to join them in watching it. However, you never took them up on their offer.
The following year, you went on a trip to another country, and one of your friends came along. You ended up sharing a room, and she made you watch a few episodes with her.
You watched Jujutsu Kaisen as your first anime and have been watching it since. SNK was your second, and while waiting for the release of chapter two of part three of SNK season four, you chose to watch Naruto.
You were already at Naruto Shippuden.
Naruto himself fascinated you. Despite his hardships, including numerous losses and mistreatment from his community, Naruto remained true to himself. Rather than succumbing to feelings of isolation, anger, and a desire for revenge, he aimed to be a reliable figure for the villagers. He repeatedly offered to sacrifice himself for their sake. If you were in the same situation as him, you wouldn't have shared Naruto's perspective and would have left Konoha to join the Akatsuki.
The dissimilarity between a genuine hero and a wrongdoer is their strength of will. As time passed, tiredness took over as one occurrence followed another, and you were suddenly transported to the dream world by Morpheus.
Tumblr media
An undesirable event occurred in a desolate city area with few residences.
A paranormal occurrence caused the ground to tremble and the stones, gravel, and sand to twitch before hovering in the air. The once faint wind grew more vigorous and more forceful. The rocks, small stones, and sand suspended in the air formed a round shape, generating a huge whirlwind.
A previously unseen, non-human being emerged from this opening. The emerged creature is 9'8 feet. Its dark gray skin had many burns, and some spots revealed long whip-like scars. Two large, uneven horns decorated his forehead while his bright red eyes examined it.
The demon had sharp teeth that could tear through flesh and a smile that sent shivers down the spine. His body was heavy and muscular, surpassing that of an ox, possibly weighing 660 to 880 pounds, no exaggeration.
He didn't appear to have much on him, only carrying a large sword on his back, and only the lower part of his body was covered.
It was a shapeshifter, a dangerous and vicious creature, not just due to its craving for blood, but also because of its ability to approach and attack its victims unexpectedly. His power lets him change his appearance as a human, animal, or plant.
He was also incredibly strong and smart.
The swirling vortex disappeared into the darkness when the creature landed on Earth. Examining the area, the beast saw holy waves just a few yards away. The blast collided with the sensors and penetrated the city's shield, destroying one of its security measures against evil.
Fuming, the creature lifted its arm and fired a blast of energy towards the divine power. Upon touching land, the monster let out a deep, unearthly roar that shook the ground and shattered the surrounding lamps.
The portal still worked. It produced other beings who looked like humans but were smaller than the shapeshifter. More and more disgusting creatures were coming to Earth. Suckers, Onyx, Spotters, Ompals, and others were among them.
These enemies are quickly recognizable.
Suckers are demons that steal their enemies' energy. They become lifeless, pale, and crumpled when they lose their energy.
Onyx is the name for ancient fallen angels. They are skilled fighters, well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. Despite their human-like appearance, they are easily identifiable by a cut on their left cheek, which signifies their loyalty to their master.
On the other hand, the Spotters do not have physical forms; they are specters made of black smoke. They're not very intimidating, but they excel at sniffing and have an incredible sense of smell that can detect the energy of the chosen one.
Ultimately, Ompals are carnivorous creatures. Their skin is as thick as that of a crocodile, and they have sharp teeth and hooked claws resembling those of a velociraptor. They also stand at a height of 6'5 feet. Their tough hide allows them to move swiftly and withstand heavy damage. They never give up in pursuit of their prey and often work together to achieve their goal. There may be potential in that.
"This world is whole of positivity and affection, but it sickens me. However, I can still draw on negative emotions like bitterness, terror, and hopelessness." The creature rallied its army and reiterated its objective. It was time to destroy the chosen one and create an era of disorder and domination for humanity. The age of hopelessness was on the cusp of starting.
"Now go, and only come back once you ascertain the whereabouts of the chosen one. It's long overdue to eliminate them permanently."
Tumblr media
The night was dark and stormy. The wind blew through the trees, and heavy rain fell. Lightning flashed, and thunder boomed.
Three spotters moved through the city streets, avoiding detection by camouflaging themselves from the humans venturing out in this weather and watching for patrolling guardians.
They searched in the darkness for their target.
The rain persisted while the spotters stayed committed to finishing their task. Since they didn't find anything worthwhile in the city center, they opted to explore outside.
They spotted some residences farther up in the hills and decided to take their chances there. After searching for a few hours, one whispered, "I found them. They're right over there."
The three spotters moved carefully to the balcony of your house, thrilled to finally find the chosen one. They could see straight into the living room through the bay window.
"This is it," the spotter who saw the objective stated. "They're inside."
"Great. Inform the master that our mission is complete. Meanwhile, we'll observe them while you return."
Following his companion's instructions, the spotter vanished to search for his master. The situation became severe, and the master could finally eliminate the chosen one, bringing forth the demonic era.
Tumblr media
Your slumber was interrupted by a loud noise. The sound of shattering glass broke the silence of the night and startled you.
Your heart was pounding very hard. At first, you thought the commotion was coming from the television. But as you nodded off, Netflix had stopped playing Naruto - episodes you had yet to catch up on - and the screen went black.
The TV didn't cause the crash.
Looking around, you finally noticed where the noise came from.
"Well, well, well. I didn't think the Chosen One would greet me so warmly."
The voice was so deep and ominous that it seemed to come from hell, even though you had never been there and never intended to go.
A feeling of dread came over you as you heard a sound. On your balcony stood a tall being with broad shoulders, over ten feet tall. The darkness made it difficult to see him, and the dark clouds, wind, and rain made the sky threatening.
The night made it difficult to see him, and the dark clouds, wind, and rain made the atmosphere threatening. Suddenly, lightning flashed. It was very bright and illuminated the whole city. And that helped you clearly see the person standing on your balcony.
Thunder followed and covered your shocked sound. It was not a human being but a monster from hell. Although you accidentally said it, your assumption was close to the truth.
You felt the danger, and you were paralyzed and helpless. Your heart raced, and your breathing accelerated. You sweated and felt a rush of heat as you felt nauseous and shaky.
"Is this really mankind's best hope?" The creature entered your apartment without being invited, and its deep, mocking laugh sent shivers down your spine.
Even though it was your first encounter with this thing, you felt you had heard his laugh before. But where and how? It couldn't be. You would have remembered crossing paths with it before. Besides, you weren't even aware that such creatures existed. No one else seems to have crossed paths with them, either.
In the 21st century, where everything is easily accessible online, you are unfamiliar with their existence.
Some people would deny its existence, and even if they would be spotted and captured on video some people would affirm it was edited or from a horror movie. Only a few fans of fiction and the occult would try to prove its authenticity, but they pretty much risked looking foolish.
You had a gut feeling that his arrival was a bad omen.
You jumped off the couch and quickly stepped back to increase the distance between you and the unwelcome guest. Afraid of being attacked unexpectedly, you hurried toward the kitchen without turning your back to them, fearful of being attacked.
Even though you might have accidentally backed yourself into a corner, at least there was a chance that you could find something to use for defense. It probably wouldn't work, but you refused to give up without a fight.
"You're a weak human who doesn't know how to use her powers."
From the living room, you could hear the monster growling, getting closer and closer as it chased after you, intending to destroy you.
"Beating you will be easy." Why had the monster mentioned "your power"? You were just a frail human with no superpowers. But what kind of power was he talking about?
It's not physical since you can barely lift a 20-kilogram suitcase a few millimeters off the ground.
Suddenly, Onyxes appeared from behind the huge, balanced monster.
"I'm going to take a bite out of you." He grins like an animal and orders his henchmen to capture you.
All the attackers rush at you. You quickly grab a frying pan. When you think it's over, you miraculously defeat your enemies, even though they keep falling on you.
You fought fiercely like a lioness, determined not to give up until you made them weak. You struck forcefully, hitting one enemy on the head with a frying pan and another on the temple.
Blow after blow, your enemies tried to take you down. But your stamina was not decisive because you had not cultivated it for a long time. Now, it's beginning to show. Your strikes weakened, and your skills deteriorated, risking your life.
You had to find a solution quickly, but it was impossible to think of a strategy in the kitchen without a moment's rest. You didn't have Shikamaru's quick thinking, you couldn't devise an ingenious plan immediately. So you had to do as Naruto and improvise, forging ahead, hoping it would work.
You miraculously dodged the oncoming obstacles and made it safely to your room. You locked the door and barricaded it with furniture to buy time and find a solution against your enemy.
The only way you found and could work was to jump out the window, even though you risked an injury. You thought it was better than being killed by a monster.
Unfortunately, nothing happened as you expected. Some onyx heads appeared through the window before the glass shattered into a million pieces. They invaded your room, and now you're trapped in your home, a place where you should be safest. How ironic.
You retreat to a corner of your room to put as much distance between you and them as possible. Soon, you find yourself at a dead end. There's a deafening crash as the furniture you'd placed against the door moves across the room and lands heavily on the floor. The door suddenly opens, and more enemies, including the giant demon, enter your room again uninvited.
"That's it. You're pissing me off," he growls, and you realize this is finally the end of you. Clenching your fists at your sides, trying to stay calm. Your heartbeat accelerates, and your muscles tighten.
This was no time to be afraid. Dying here was not an option. Though you did not understand the muscle-bound demon's comment about your power, you were determined to prove him wrong.
"It's no use trying to escape, tiny human. You're like a rat. You cannot escape your fate." Suddenly, you felt a surge of emotion. It wasn't anger, but rather frustration, surprise, and confusion.
Your blood boiling wasn't just a metaphor. Something inexplicable was happening inside of you. You felt a strange energy coursing through your veins, giving you the hope and courage to face the situation.
"What the ?" they said, expressing both panic and surprise. The shapeshifter's eyes were fixed on your clenched fists.
His display of weakness before you made you smile. You didn't understand what was happening, the only thing you were sure of, was that the table had finally turned.
You hadn't acted yet, but he was already panicking.
"That's it. Take her." The shapeshifter commands, and his minions quickly attack you.
Suddenly, a loud scream pierced the air, and a bright light filled the room. It was strange, for though you had no idea the exact time, the darkness outside indicated that it was late evening or early morning instead.
The sudden bright light was strange to you but familiar to the others in the room. They recognized it immediately. When you raised your hands and saw that it weakened your enemies, you made it your strength and used it defensively against them.
You didn't have time to fully comprehend the situation. You had to defeat the enemy first and then try to understand what had happened.
Many demons ran away when you raised your hands, while others were burned by flames and disappeared. The shapeshifter warned, "You will pay for this," before disappearing into the darkness.
The light from your hands gradually faded, returning everything to normal. Silence and calm reigned once more. It might have seemed like a horrible dream if you hadn't seen your smashed furniture and open bedroom door, with other items scattered only a few feet away.
The draft from the French window in the living room and the broken window in your room swirled ashes around, leaving a grayish stain on the floor. It reminded you of when the demons were vanquished in the Charmed series.
After the attackers were gone, your body crashed. Your adrenaline rush subsides, and fatigue sets in. But before you could lose consciousness, you'd hear another noise.
The front door had just been forced open, and more people entered your home. You just prayed that it wasn't another group of attackers because you didn't have the strength to fight again.
You collapse to the floor, exhausted. Just before you pass out, someone says, "I found her. This way."
Then, it was the blackout.

Best Brother Series - Family Reunion
Warnings : None
Comment below to join any of my taglists, BTS, Stray Kids, TXT, Enhyphen, or all/multiple!!
"Let's go!" Jin roared, over the commotion happening to the twenty others. "Hurry up!"
"Two minutes!" Jungkooks voice hollered. "Coming!"
"Wait! I forgot my hairband!" Y/N screeched, racing upstairs.
"Give it back, Jeongin!" Hyunjin shouted.
"Yeonjun hyung took my shoes!" Hueningkai yelled.
"Everyone shut up!" Yoongi yelled. Everyone quietened down. Then there was a snicker from Jungkook, then Yeonjun, Soobin, and Y/N. Exasparatedly, he turned to them. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing."Y/N grinned. "Let's go."
They piled into the four cars, 5 each, driven by Jin, Yoongi, Hoseok and Jimin as Namjoon didn't have a license.
"Hobi Oppa, can I sit in front?" Y/N asked. "I feel sick at the back."
She and Taehyun switched places, and Hoseok gave her a bag, just in case. When they got out of the car, she had to lean against the house gate, feeling incredibly dizzy.
"Ready?" Jin asked. He'd waited for Y/N. She nodded and they went in the house.
"Hi, Y/N!" Her younger cousin, Hanseul, said. Y/N smiled and patted her head.
"Hi, Seulie. How're you?"
"I'm great!" The right year old exclaimed. She held up a green origami rabbit. " Lisio Unnie showed me how to fold a rabbit, and I did one for you!"
"It's beautiful." Y/N marveled. "Did you thank Jisio Unnie?"
Jisio was their cousin, a year older than Y/N. Hanseul nodded excitedly, dragging Y/N over to the gaggle of girl cousins. Y/N was very popular at family reunion girl groups.
"Look who's here!" Hanseul announced. Y/N was swallowed by the eight girls, and by the time dinner was ready, the group was chattering very loudly.
"Gosh, how loud can they get?" Jeongin asked Jooyeon, who shrugged.
"That's how they are, hyung." He said. "Gaon and Gunil hyung always say they can shapeshift."
"Jin Hyung can shout over all of them though." Taehyung said. "He always manages to get Y/N's attention.
"Y/N!" Jin shouted, proving Taehyung true. "LESS NOISE, PLEASE!"
"Alright." Y/N agreed. As if a miracle struck, the girls quietened down, the noise quickly departing.
"Thank you, Jin." Meiseo, theif aunt, smiled. "It's so hard to get them to be quiet."
"You're welcome." Jin grinned. "I do it all the time you know. I have twenty siblings."
"Why your parents chose to keep having children I don't know." Meisro'd husband, Jonghyun, sighed. "We told them to stop after Hoseok but they never listened."
"Believe me." Jin said. "Sometimes I wish it was only me and Y/N. She's the easiest to manage except at these gatherings."
"Well, a big family's a big family." Meiseo said. "Let's eat!"

For a full week, you remained motionless in Yoongi's bed. If it wasn't for the obvious sign of your chest rising and falling with steady breaths, they would've thought you weren't alive.
Molly and Seokjin checked on your vitals hourly but nothing changed. Everything pointed to you being perfectly healthy, even the fatigue circles under your eyes had evened out after the spell was complete. Molly herself had cleaned you up and put you in fresh clothes, once again Yoongi's, before leaving you in his bed to allow you to wake up in your own time.
Every single one of the males had taken over 24 hours after the spell to wake up so none of them were particularly concerned but then it turned to 48 hours then 72 and that was when Molly and Seokjin joined the others in concern. The longest any of them took to recover was 72 hours and that was Hoseok due to how damaged his body had been from his years of battling disease beforehand.
Molly and Seokjin spent the following days researching possible causes for your prolonged slumber but they both came up short.
All of the household checked up on you multiple times a day, fearing you wouldn't wake or they'd miss a change in your situation.
Much like the last time you recovered in Yoongi's room, he barely left your side. He only left the room to go into the adjoining bathroom. He didn't even leave to eat. Someone always delivered meals to him but he didn't always eat them. The longer you were asleep, the less he ate.
At precisely 2:03am exactly eight days after the spell, your hand twitched and Suga shot upright from where he was curled up against your side, taking comfort in your steady breathing beside him. He stared at you, waiting to see if it happened again. When four minutes passed without anything else happening, he decided he must've dreamt it and somehow woke himself up. It wasn't the first time his mind had tricked him after all.
Slowly, he settled back down and once again closed his eyes. He was almost asleep when there was a light weight on his back. His eyes flew open and he knew he wasn't imagining it. The weight grew lighter until it turned into gentle brushes of small pressure across his back.
Without thought, he turned into Yoongi and looked at you. You had a soft smile on your face and your right hand on his side.
"Hi." You greeted quietly. He pounced forward to wrap his arms around you carefully and bury his face into your neck.
"You're okay." He spoke repeatedly, relief and joy thick in his voice.
"I won't be if you keep leaning on me like that." He jumped backwards and you giggled.
"Fuck, I was so scared you weren't going to make it."
"Silly kitty." You lifted your hand to hold his face. Yoongi closed his eyes and put his hand over yours to prevent you letting go. "What time is it?"
"Uh.." His eyes fluttered open and he looked over to the digital clock on his bedside table. "Gone 2 in the morning."
"You think Molly will be mad if we go have a midnight snack?" You grinned and he started to laugh. "What?"
"You've been basically in a coma for a week straight and the first thing you want to do is raid our kitchen?" You nodded and his cheeks lifted as he smiled widely. "Okay, let's go eat."
You grinned and kicked back the covers dramatically to get up. When you were on your feet, you stopped still and furrowed your eyebrows together.
"What? What is it?" Yoongi rushed around to stand in front of you. He held your upper arms and looked at you with concern.
"I feel weird." You muttered.
"Like ill?"
"No just...not myself." You looked down at your body, inspecting everything and not at all surprised to find you were wearing Yoongi's clothes.
"Well, you're not entirely anymore. Well, I mean, you are but you're more than just yourself now." Your eyes widened as you realised what he meant.
"I'm...like you now?" He nodded. "Oh...well shit." Once again, you looked at yourself. "What happened?"
"You don't remember?"
"I have a lot of these like, clips in my head but I don't know if they're real or not."
"What's the last thing you remember for sure?"
"Standing on a bridge and looking over the barrier to the water." You mumbled.
"Uh...yeah...well...you jumped." Your eyes bulged as you looked at him in shock. "Me and Hoseok saw it but we got to you too late, you had stepped off by the time we got to you."
"Holy shit, I tried to commit suicide?" He nodded and you took a few steps back until you plopped down onto the bed. "N-no, I wouldn't do that to my parents."
"You really weren't yourself that day, Y/N. You scared the shit out of me."
"I'm sorry." You were honest and he smiled softly.
"I know. I think it was all too much and you shut everything off to try and protect yourself."
"Lot of good that did." You joked and he whined.
"Please don't joke about almost dying like that, Y/N." He pleaded.
"Right, sorry. Too soon, right?" He whined again and you got back up to wrap your arms tight around him. Yoongi returned the embrace instantly. "Thank you Yoongi, for always looking out for me. What do my parents know?"
"They think we've gone on a road trip." He answered. "I couldn't say you're ill and staying here, it was hard enough to convince them that was the truth last time you were unconscious."
"Sorry. It must be annoying."
"I'm only worried for you, not annoyed by you." He insisted and you nodded against his shoulder, believing him. "Do you still want fo-"
"Y/N!" Hoseok yelled bursting into the room making both you and Yoongi jump in surprise and split from the other. "I knew I heard your voice!" He ran over to engulf you in his arms. "I'm so glad you're okay!" He cried and you held him tight, burying your face in his shoulder.
Hoseok's loud tone had woken the rest of the household minus Seokjin and Molly as their bedroom was on the first floor next to the living room. In seconds, four other men had entered the room to each announce their joy at your recovery and hug you tight.
When your stomach grumbled, they all backed up realising they were crowding you.
"Let's all go have a celebration feast!" Taehyung suggested, already running out of the room and down the stairs.
By the time the rest of you had met him in the kitchen, both Seokjin and Molly were there. Seokjin had been awoken by Taehyung running down the stairs and when he got out of bed to investigate what had the fox shifter excited, Molly woke too.
"How about grilled cheese?!" Were Seokjin's first words to you. You smiled widely and nodded in agreement. He knew you loved a good grilled cheese.
"Me too, hyung!" Jungkook called walking over to help Seokjin gather ingredients and prepare food for all of them.
"How are you feeling, Y/N?" Molly asked, leading you away from the excited males to the dining room where you both sat down at the table.
"Hungry, mostly." You answered and she laughed.
"Nothing hurts?"
"Nope."
"Any tingling or odd sensations?"
"No well, other than not feeling like myself. Yoongi said it's because I'm like him-like them now."
"Yes, I performed the same spell on you as I did all seven of them." She confirmed.
"So, I can change into an animal now?" She nodded and you looked down at your hands. "That's cool, I hope it's not a lame animal."
"I have a feeling I know what it is." You looked at her surprised. "Do you remember how I said your destiny is here?" You nodded. "You have a destiny many dream of but never really find themselves reaching."
"What do you mean?"
"You've heard of soulmates, yes?" You nodded. "A lot of people believe everyone has a soulmate but unfortunately, it's not true. It's a nice thought, to believe that who you fall in love with is your soulmate but only a lucky few are destined for such a connection."
"Oh. Is Seokjin your soulmate?"
"No, I'm not destined for such things but luckily neither is he so our love will last as long as we work for it. But for you, your soulmate will always love you and you them regardless of effort put in. Of course, you'll have ups and downs but you'll always return to each other."
"What does this have to do with my animal side?"
"Well, animals cannot naturally procreate with other species. You'll turn into the same animal as your soulmate."
"And you know who my soulmate is?"
"Not for sure and neither will you until you meet eyes in animal form." You tilted your head questioningly and she smiled. "You can't make a connection with only half of you. You've met as humans already but the bond won't be final until you meet in animal form."
"Wait, does this mean that I've always meant to turn into a shapeshifter?" Molly nodded solemnly. "The universe wanted me to try to kill myself from the get-go to lead to connecting with my soulmate?"
"Maybe not this way but no matter what, something would've happened that would result in you having to change."
"I guess I should see what form I take, huh?" You sighed and stretched out.
"You want to do this right now? What if...what if your soulmate isn't Yoongi?" You tensed and looked at her slowly.
"I thought you said you know who it is? Does this mean it isn't him?"
"I only have suspicions, I can't say either way. I just want you to prepare for every possibility."
"It's definitely one of the guys?" She nodded. "How do you know?"
"The energy emitted when you're here. I can feel the bond but I can't see who it is linked to."
"What am I going to do if it's not Yoongi? I don't want to be with anyone else." You confessed and she smiled half-heartedly.
"I know you love him and he loves you but if he's not your soulmate, your love won't be enough. You can try to make it work but it'd be best to not allow anything further to happen between you."
"Oh." You frowned and folded your arms on the tabletop to rest your chin on them. "I don't want to change now."
"Are you going to avoid it for the rest of your life?" She laughed but your sharp nod of confirmation cut her off. "Oh...I've never heard of a shapeshifter that never turns, not even once. I think the animal DNA is too strong to allow that."
"Well, I can try to fight it for as long as possible."
Neither of you spoke and the room would've been silent if not for the seven noisy males in the room over.
When they joined, they brought with them noise and plates of food.
Seokjin had a large platter full of grilled cheese sandwiches for you all to share. Jimin had a platter of various prepared fruit that he placed next to the sandwich platter.
Yoongi sat next to you and placed a glass of orange juice on the table in front of you. You smiled and accepted it to gulp down a large amount causing him to chuckle.
"Thirsty?" He teased.
"Hey, I've been asleep for a week, my throat is bound to be a little dry." He hummed and reached out to grab a sandwich and hand it to you. You grinned and took it happily to start eating.
All thoughts of soulmates and true love left your mind as you got sucked into the conversation with the group, the smile never leaving your lips.
***
At 6:45am, you were back in Yoongi's bed and he was beside you.
You were both laid on your sides facing each other, heads on the pillow as you talked softly. When the conversation ran out, you both remained like that and simply looked at one another, taking in the others features up close while the calm remained in the room.
"Can-can I ask you something serious?" You asked after a little while.
A little while after the previous conversation ended, your thoughts inevitably returned to your talk with Molly at the table and you began to worry over your soulmate's identity again.
"Yeah, okay." He replied, nodding slightly even if he looked a little concerned. "Anything."
"Do you love me?" His eyes widened.
"Wh-what?"
"Do you love me? I don't mean as friends or whatever, I mean more."
"Yes, I do." He answered straight away. "If you hadn't ignored your phone for a month, you'd know this."
"Oh, right." You chewed on your lip, allowing yourself to retreat back into your mind.
"Do you?" He urged when you didn't return the sentiment. His heart was pounding and his palms growing clammy as his nerves ran wild.
"Huh?"
"Do you...love me too?"
"Oh right, yeah, I do." You nodded and he smiled widely, showing his gums. You couldn't help but smile back.
"I know you probably don't feel ready right now after everything that has happened but when you're ready, can we try it again but seriously this time? Will you be my girlfriend?"
"I want to say yes right now."
"Then why don't you?" You sighed and sat up to lean against the headboard. Yoongi frowned, his lips pouting slightly as he mirrored your position. "Y/N?"
"Molly told me I have a soulmate." You announced bluntly.
"You believe her?" You nodded. "Why?"
"I just...I feel like it's true."
"You don't know who it is?"
"No, she said we won't know until he and I meet eyes in animal form."
"Okay then, let's see if it's us."
"What?!"
"You don't want to know?" You shook your head. "Why not?"
"Because if it's not you, that means we can't be together." Yoongi's whole body sagged at the news. "Molly said we can try but our love won't be enough, we won't last and I'll go to him. It's destiny." You sighed and rubbed your face roughly with your hands. "I want to be with you, Yoongi."
"I want to be with you too." Yoongi pulled your hands away from your face to hold them in his own. "But if you're destined for someone else, avoiding this will only hurt us both."
"Don't use logic on me." You whined and he chuckled. "I wanted to be ignorant and pretend that if I never change, everything will be okay and we can be together."
"You were going to never turn into your animal form?" You nodded. "Is that possible?"
"I don't know but I'm willing to try if it means we can be happy and in love."
"Fuck, I really wish I could let you try but, I know if I'm not your soulmate then us breaking up is inevitable and I'd rather save us both that heartbreak."
"You really want me to change?" He nodded and you got up from the bed.
"Where are you going? Just do it here."
"I'll take on the same animal as my soulmate, I don't want you to have to see me if I don't turn into a cat. I don't want you to see who I belong with so suddenly."
"Oh, yeah, maybe it's best you don't do it here." He mumbled. "Go in the bathroom, I'll stand on this side of the door." You nodded in agreement and went into his bathroom. Yoongi closed the door behind you and pressed his forehead against it.
"What do I do?" You asked only then realising you had no idea how to change.
"You know that part of you that doesn't feel like you?"
"Yeah."
"Focus on it. It's the animal in you. It may take a little while the first time but it gets easier and quicker the more you change."
"Okay." You took a deep breath and closed your eyes.
"Y/N?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you, no matter who you're destined for." You smiled and found the part of you that was new, the animal part and worked to focus on making it more prominent.
"I love you too, Yoongi."
As your body morphed from human to animal, you felt it all. You had expected it to be uncomfortable or painful but it felt great. It felt as if you were turning into what you were meant to be. That was when you really started to believe in destiny.
When your body became still and settled, you allowed your eyes to open. You were obviously a lot smaller than you were when you closed your eyes but that didn't tell you too much. Looking down, you saw fur the colour of your hair. At least you weren't a bird you mused. But that still left cat, dog and fennec fox. You were certainly too small to be the same breed as Namjoon but maybe dog shifter soulmates could mate regardless of breed.
You moved forward with your gaze downcast to approach the door that you had seen a full-length mirror on the back of.
When you looked up at your reflection, your heart beat erratically in your chest. You couldn't help but stare at yourself until there was a knock on the door.
"Y/N? Are you okay?" Yoongi called nervously.
You almost called out but realised your words wouldn't be in any human language. For a second, you were about to change back to human but then you decided not to.
"Y/N?" You stayed silent and sat down, staring up at the door expectantly. You knew he'd get worried and enter soon enough. "Y/N, answer me or I'm coming in." Only three seconds later, the door flew open and Yoongi's eyes scanned the area, not looking down at the floor for a good five seconds. The second his eyes landed on you, he froze. You tilted your head at him and let out a noise that made him return to reality. "Holy shit!" He exclaimed dropping to his knees to stroke your head lovingly. You couldn't help but purr at his touch and his gummy smile stretched his cheeks. "You're so fucking cute. The cutest cat ever." He cooed. You pulled away from his touch to make an annoyed sound. "What?" Even in cat form, you gave him a look and he understood. A chuckle left his lips before he changed and before you sat Suga. The second your eyes met his, you felt your life click into place. It was like everything finally made sense and you understood your place in the world. That place was right next to Yoongi.
He stalked over to you to rub his head against yours affectionately. A happy noise left your throat and you returned the affection. You both purred joyfully as you continued to rub against one another, showing all your love in the best way you could as cats.
Silently, Suga turned and faced his room. He looked over his shoulder at you and you understood instantly.
Together, you returned to the bedroom and jumped up onto the bed. There you curled up and fell asleep for the first time with your soulmate. The man, or cat, that you would more than happily spend all of eternity with. in whatever form he asked of you.
Some of you may've already seen it but yesterday I posted a little note for you guys (readers of Protection Squad). I really hope you will all read it. It's important as it talks about a major issue that this story is heavily revolved around (mental illness). It's also a thank you note to you all for reading and such.
Originally, I was just going to write a little note here but I started to write it and it got way too long so I figured making a separate post would be best
I love you all and thank you for reading my lil story :3

“If this is how I feel about you now,” he said again, in a whisper to not disturb you.  “If this is it, I’m so glad I hated you.” He chuckled as he slowly moved you to carry you, standing and disturbing the dragonflies around as he prepared to go back to his home.  “I don’t think I could hate you again if I tried.  I’m starting to like you way too much.”
The next morning, when his father went to wake his son up, he wasn’t in his room.  Instead, he found Jungkook sleeping beside you in your bed, still half-dragon. Wings folded on his back against the wall and scales adorning his cheeks. Holding you the same way his father used to hold his mother. With complete care and ease.
Tumblr media
“I’m planning on going back home the last few days of break,” Jungkook and you had been sitting on the front steps of his house when you opened your mouth and sprung the news on him.  “I have some things I need to check up on, and something I have a hunch about.  So, I’ll be there a couple of days at least.”
Jungkook didn’t like the idea of you going to your house because Zaros was most definitely going to be there too.  You being in such close proximity as him made Jungkook sick after all he’s done to you.  A quick glance at your covered arm was enough for him to know that for certain.  He could feel his scales almost peek through his skin as he withheld a hiss. However, he knew you had your reasons- even if you didn’t tell him what they were.  He simply nodded.
“Alright,” he said as your breath stalled.  You expected more of a fight from him.  “Just tell me when you want to go, and we’ll go.”
“You…you want to come with me?” You spoke with uncertainty and a raised, doubtful brow.  Jungkook leaned forward to rest his forearms on his thighs as he looked up at you with a look that screamed just how dumb your question sounded to him.
“Uh, duh,” he stated matter-of-factly.  Grabbing your blighted hand, he placed it on his leg, sandwiching it between his hands.  “If you think I’d let you go back there, to that house, by yourself- you thought wrong.  I’m stubborn headed too, so don’t even try to tell me no.”
“I wasn’t planning to, but duly noted,” you chuckled with a few nods.
The next morning, Jungkook and yourself packed up and left his home.  Leaving his house, father and little sister at your backs with a promise to come back and visit soon.  Hopping back on the train and plunging back into the busy life of the city was something you’d have to readjust to.  The process of getting off the train, just to roll back onto another one to go in the opposite direction to your home town was more tedious than anything else.  Of course, Jungkook trailed after your back the whole time.
He never really saw you as a city gal, but your home town wasn’t really a town, but a city as bustling as the one he just came from loading onto the train.  Bustling with people and noises echoing around everywhere.  Dragging your suitcase behind your legs, you stood at the curbside, flagging down a taxi.
The hideously yellow cab pulled over as Jungkook loaded yours and his bags into the back as you sat in the back seat.  The dragon soon joined you in the back as he slid in and shut the door before the lock disappeared into the car door with a resounding click.  The driver sat in the front now, firing up the cab’s engine.
“Take us to Zaros Manor, please,” you told the driver, unamusement laced in every syllable.  Slightly shocked, the driver just lightly cleared his throat and nodded with a professional smile.  Doing his job, he pulled off the curb and entered the traffic that is the city and you were on your way.
The ride was dead quiet.  Something about cab rides made you conscious enough of every sound ever, and Jungkook was pressured into silence.  He watched you stare out the window as the city outside blurred by.  The frown drawn onto your face spoke louder than any words he could have told you.  He knew you didn’t truly want to be here, but he was sure your reasons were valid enough.  So, he’d stand by you as support if nothing else, standing behind you to push you or catch your back if you started stumbling backward.
By the time the taxi pulled up to the front gate, you wanted to leave. You wanted to apologize to the driver and tell him to turn back, take you back to the station where you could flee.  But, you didn’t.  You just bit your lip and thanked him, climbing out with Jungkook following you to take your bags out of the trunk.  You rightfully paid your driver and off he went, driving away from the manor and on the lookout for more business.
You stood at the tall metal gate of the property of your family name.  Taking a small breath, you walked to the gate’s left side and in the brick pillar was a covered keypad.  Sliding the hard plastic cover up, you quickly punched in 6 familiar digits before the camera above you moved.  The lens zoomed and adjusted before you slid the cover back down.  The gates began heaving themselves open not a moment later.
Jungkook just watched and followed behind you as you walked right in- of course it was your house after all.  He watched as your arms swung and your shoulder blades moved as your back had anguish written all over it.  He looked around the front, it was oddly quiet.  The daughter of the house was coming home- he expected it to be rowdier.
The manor- true to its name- was a sight to behold.  A grand mass of brick and glass with enough artistic taste to impressed a renaissance artist.
The moment you walked up the steps to your front door and pushed the large, metal handle of one of the two double-doors open, Jungkook nearly jumped out of his skin.
He always thought that the idea of a group of servants or followers of a noble home greeting their noble family by lining the entrance hall and bowing was overly fashion and just a movie cliche.  It was a surreal experience when he was met with exactly that.  Men and women of your household lined up one by one as they lowered their heads and spoke in a unanimous welcome to you and him in a booming echo that bounced off the narrow walls.
“I’ll be here a couple of days,” you spoke totally nonchalantly as you heeled off your shoes, Jungkook doing the same.  A man approached through the hall of staff, dressed to the 20s in butler garbs and looking to be rather up in age.  He had to be at least 60 or so as he stood with a small smile on his wrinkled face.  “I expect all of you to treat Jungkook, my familiar, with nothing but respect.”  You gestured to the dragon beside you. “Understood?”
Another unanimous cheer followed as the staff dispersed to go back to their day to day grinding. The butler who remained turned his back with a small nod signaling to follow him.  You followed at his back, with Jungkook at yours, as he walked in small steps like the old man he is.
“Is my father around?” You asked the man, a small bite in your tone.
“Master Zaros is in and out these days.”
“I see.  I’d like to get a hold of my connections tonight if possible. Reach out to see if one is in town and call them here.”
“Of course, Miss. Enjoy your time home.” Then, the butler retreated back down the hall.  You didn’t waste time in the hall and walked through the doors you had stopped in front of.  Entering a small library that your father had built when you were a child.
Jungkook stayed silent as you wondered about the library room.  Pulling books from shelves, flipping pages, reading certain sections and lines, and replacing the book back where it belonged on its shelf. He watched you do this over and over again before he stopped you, mid-pull of a book from its place.
“I get that your restless being home,” he started, pulling the book from your grasp, “but relax.  You can’t freak out- it could rile you up and start messing with your arm.” He pulled your arm below the elbow, sitting you down on a small sofa.  “Besides, I’m here.  You can chill out when I’m with you,” he finished.  You sighed, shoulders slumping.
“You’re right.  I’m sorry.”
“I don’t want an apology, Y/n.  Talk to me.  I’m your familiar.  Confide in me a little.”
You closed your eyes and sighed.  Moving to lean your forehead on his shoulder.  “I can’t tell you yet.  There’s too much at stake and too much up in the air for me to say much of anything with certainty.”
“Y/n,” he went to argue, but you hushed him.
“You’ll understand in time, okay?” Jungkook reluctantly sighed.  He’d prod you for an answer another time he supposed. The rest of the afternoon was spent pent up in that library.  Jungkook’s skin kept raising in gooseflesh each time a new staff member entered the room.  Each one just as professional as the last.  And your gaze just as empty as he remembered from the moment you stepped foot inside.
He came to realize that it wasn’t just your father you didn't look forward to coming home to, it was the entire house in general.  The staff treated you like the well-respected daughter of a high-class monarch, but there was nothing behind those actions and words.  There were all simply orders and habits they had been taught since employment.  There wasn’t a speck of warmth in this house- this manor.
It was just after dusk when you decided to go back to your room and rest, your brain ready to ooze out of your ears if you stayed in the library any longer. You had gotten word from a past staff visit of someone coming to the manor in a few hours and you’d want to be awake enough to actually speak with them.
“Jungkook?” You called out into the library, the dragon popping out from behind some random bookshelf he had been wandering around for a while. “I want you to go to sleep early tonight.  I’ll take you to the room you'll be using.” His brow scrunched.
“What about you? Can’t I just stay in your room with you?”
“I- I have something else to do before I can properly rest. I just need a few hours of sleep before that.”
“Then I’ll just sleep beside you. I don’t want you to be by yourself here,” he spoke sternly.  He walked towards you, standing at your toes as you stared forward to his chest.  Not looking up towards his eyes that were bearing down at you.  You looked so small in his eyes right now, the shadows cast around your body from the dim light and the overall anguish you felt being here.  “Please, when you need to go and do that thing you’re talking about, I won’t follow you.  Just let me rest with you- it will ease my mind.”
Jungkook wasn’t pressuring you, but the soft tone of his voice and the way he spoke made you relent.  Simply nodding and appeasing him.  You both left the small space of the cozy, yet stuffy library as you lead Jungkook to your room on the second floor.
Looking around it, he couldn’t tell at all that this room was yours, let alone belonged to a daughter.  It was barren.  Nothing but bare walls and ugly wallpaper with a bed covered in pressed sheets that hadn’t been laid in for ages.  He was semi-shocked the lights worked when you flicked them on.
Peeling off your jacket, you went to the one single dresser in the room as you rummaged inside it, pulling out a set of old pjs.  You didn’t feel like digging around in your suitcase right now for something comfortable to wear to bed.  You were in a daze as you started stripping in the middle of your room.  You only remembered Jungkook was a few feet away when you had peeled off your shirt and saw him in the corner of your eye.
He was sat on the ground by your door, relaxed and eyes shut.  He didn’t say a word and he could feel the tingling in his gut from your sudden realization that you had begun to undress without warning in front of him.  He nearly giggled at your small apologize that whispered into the air towards him.
When you told him it was safe to reopen his eyes, he slapped a hand over his mouth to keep from bursting out into laughter.  Your choice in wardrobe left much to be desired when you lived here.  Your pjs spotted with giraffe print that was almost too small was all the proof he needed for that assumption. You crossed your arms as he rose off the floor.
“Got a problem?” You asked, a tick in your tone. He just huffed and trotted over to your bed, flopping down onto it.  It was way softer than he was expecting it to be.  He just sunk into it, like jumping onto a marshmallow.  So far, this bed was the only thing worth it in this house to ever come back to. “Jungkook?” You asked, walking to the bed when he just reminded face down in the mattress, breathing peacefully, you half-believed he just passed out.
You squawked when he quickly turned to his side. With a shit-eating grin on his face, he reached out to clench around your wrist.  Harshly yanking you onto the bed, a small ‘oof’ left your throat as he soon was curling into your side. Breathing a long sigh through his nose, he closed his eyes and kept his arm lay over your chest, keeping you down with him.  One leg of his hiked up to ensnare one of yours.
“Sleep,” was all he told you.  It was hardly a command though, as you were sleeping before you knew it.  When you woke up to a servant of the manor shaking your shoulder, you were mildly confused about when you actually did fall asleep.
“Miss, your guest has arrived and is waiting in your study.” You just nodded and waved them off, as they left your room.  Part of you felt guilty when you slowly climbed out of your bed, lifting and prying Jungkook’s limbs off you as carefully as you could without disturbing his rest.  Finally standing, you changed back into a pair of shorts and tee-shirt, not bothering with formalities of dressing appropriately at this time of night.  It was half-past midnight already.
As you left, you weren’t able to see the golden sleep-lidded dragon eyes of your familiar on your back.
You marched your way towards your study and soon stood in front of the door.  You had a feeling you knew who it was who answered the call to come here on such short notice.  Knocking twice to announce your arrival, you pushed your door open, stepping inside and shutting it behind you.
“Good evening, m’lady,” your attendant spoke.  He was a sly fellow who you had known for years and who also happened to be your mole.  He was the one weapon you had against your father- someone who played both sides and knew more than he let on.  More than a little infatuated with you- it was no surprise when he agreed to spill his guts to anything related to your father he knew.
“Let’s not waste any time, Morgan,” you told the man.
“My secrets are yours, you just need to ask,” he told you, leaning on your desk before you shooed him off of it.
“What’s first, the school or the board,” you asked.  He threw himself graciously onto a small chair against the wall.  Crossing his legs as he dropped the flamboyant nature he had grown so accustomed to.
“Really, if I had to say it’s neither.” He droned, his hand dropped to the side in boredom.  “He’s been ping-ponging between a lot of things recently regarding his future plans.  All of which revolved around the school.” You scrunch your brow.  “If you really want my theory, princess,” he started, pointing at you, ”he’s going to start with you.”
You sighed, dropping your face into the palms of your hands as you sighed.  Of course, he would.  He would start with you and work from the ground up.  Out of all his plans, you knew; you should've known you were target number one.  The enemy of all enemies in his book.  The villain of his ‘crusade’.
“Alright,” you said, lifting your face back up.  “I’ll take care of it. You’re free to go if you wish now.”  He just nodded, lifting himself out of the chair he adorned and left the room.  He stopped momentarily at the figure stood outside the door, eavesdropping on the whole conversation.
A boy with golden eyes, anger spiked scaled on his cheeks and a fire in his eyes that burned with so much rage.  Morgan looked back in the room briefly before shutting the door.  He put his hand on Jungkook’s shoulder.
“You’ll want to keep an eye on her, kid.” Then, He left. Leaving Jungkook to seeth on his own as you collected your rapid thoughts in your study for at least the next hour.
XXX
When you made your way back to your room, you were met with Jungkook sat crosslegged on your bed-fully dressed.  You quietly shut the door behind you with a small, short click.  He looked at you with a tense expression.  He could feel your nerves in his chest like a static charge.
“You’re up early,” you spoke softly, trying to defuse the heavy atmosphere.  “You should sleep a bit longer.”
“Tell me what’s going on, Y/n.” His tone was cold, strict with no room for argument. “I need to know what’s going on if I’m going to keep you safe.” He slid off the bed and came towards you- standing chest to chest as you had half the instinct to step back in retreat.  You never realized how tall Jungkook was until this moment when he loomed over you. “You are my master and my duty as your familiar is to keep you protected from any and all harm aimed towards you. I can’t do that if you don’t tell me what’s going on.”
His stern gaze softened when he saw your wide eyes. He hadn’t talked so strictly to you in a long time- not since he hated your guts. He breathed through his nose as he raised to touch your blighted arm, lightly tracing his thumb along your bandaged forearm.  “Please, Y/n.  Trust me.”
You looked down at his chest away from his eyes.  “I do trust you,” you murmur.
“Then,” he started, his free hand moved under your chin to tilt you head back up to face him properly, “look me in the eyes and talk to me.” He watched your lips curl inward in hesitation.
“It’s- it’s complicated,” you sigh.
Jungkook shook his head. “Then explain it all clearly.  I’ll understand.  I won’t be mad at you, I won’t act recklessly. I promise. So, please.”
Finally, you relented.  Jungkook slid his hand on your arm down to your shaking hand and the one under your chin brushed your cheek before resting it on the back of your neck.  Massaging it with small pressure and rotations of his fingertips.
“My father might be after my life,” you whispered- finally admitting it to yourself out loud.  Jungkook bit his lip to keep from hissing.  He wouldn’t lash out.  He promised.  “I’ve had an acquaintance of mine keep tabs on him and the end goal looks to be to destroy the academy.  I still can’t figure out why, but I know I stand in the way of accomplishing that goal.”  Your eyes were lidded.  “Even if I wasn’t in the way, my father hates me regardless.  I’m not even his daughter in his eyes.”
“Whether you’re the daughter of a wealthy and powerful warlock or not- you’re still first and foremost you.  You’re Y/n. The same Y/n your mother gave her life to bring you to this point.  The Y/n whose mother would undoubtedly be proud of the woman you’re growing into.  And the Y/n who is my one master.  Who your father is isn’t relevant.” He pulled your head to his chest, moving his hand from your neck to the back of your head.  “I’m going to keep you safe, you have my word.”
You only nodded as he held you.  The tear dripping off of his bottom lashes not belonging to just him.
XXX
“It’s a shame your visit could only last a few days, young miss.” That same, old butler from before prompted as you stood at the door, suitcase in hand and Jungkook as your side.
“Perhaps I’ll stay longer next time. Until then, I’ll be returning to my studies.”  You politely bowed before leaving, the cab you called waiting out by the still shut metal gate.  A breath of relief left you as you got into the cab.
“Happy to be out?” Jungkook mused.  You nodded.  The suffocation that came with that place was lifted your chest, but there was still a tightness in you at the thought of Zaros and his possible future actions.  Jungkook slid from the back right seat into the middle directly beside you, grabbing your hand.  “Calm down,” he eased you.  You nodded as the car started and moved down the streets toward the station.
The tightness in your chest didn’t lessen the entire way back to academy grounds.  It just constricted tighter as Jungkook kept his eyes on you.  He shared your discomfort.  All he could do is hold your hand- hoping it could somehow help keep you together.
Your phone in your pocket buzzed with a text.  Digging it out, you chuckled lightly at the text from a very Y/n-deprived hellhound.  Begging you to come to visit him at this dorm room asap.  He had a lot to tell you in regards to him and Yoongi. Jungkook peeked over your shoulder.
“Should we drop off our stuff at my room? It’s closer to Jimin’s than yours and Yoongi’s.”
You nodded. “Yeah.  I’ll grab it all later on. We should stop by and say hello at least,” you chuckled.
The two of you walked along the school’s walkways- you were in half a daze as you did so.  You yelped when your walking was suddenly halted. The hand Jungkook held in yours tightened as you were jerked backward due to his footsteps stopping.  Looking back to him- a deep frown was etched onto his face.  You instantly grew concerned.
“Jungkook?”
“I smell him,” he snarled.
“What do you mean-” your words became lost when the dragon yanked you into his chest.  Driven solely on instinct to protect you, his wings sprung from his back and all his dragon traits from scaled to eyes jumped out into the open.  Growling and hissing in defense with sharpened fangs.  His arms encased around your neck and shoulders, your feet between his as he clutched you tightly.  “Jungkook, what’s going on?”
Then you felt it.  The overwhelming magic energy pulsing at your back.  The magic you knew belonged to your father.  You froze up, fisting the fabric of Jungkook’s shirt tightly in panic.  Surely he didn’t intend to attack you here? In broad daylight on academy grounds. He wasn’t that foolish… was he?
Jungkook held you tighter- eyes burning as he felt your panic run through every muscle in his body.
“Did you believe that this school would keep you safe?” Zaros’s voice shot through you like a bullet.
“I suggest you watch your step, warlock,” you heard Jungkook seeth above you.  “Even you would be surprised just what the hell I’m capable of.”
“Jungkook,” you warned quietly.
“No, I’ve had enough,” Jungkook responded in a rushed, rough tone.
You could hear the electricity of your father’s magic crackle behind you as you flinched. Your arm began to burn as you felt sparks zap at your ankles.  Jungkook growled and backed up, pulling you with him further away from Zaros.
Jungkook’s flames began to surge under his feet and seep through his teeth from his lungs.  Fire wisps extended from the tips of his hair that had spiked as though it had been windblown.  If you looked up you’d see pure, solid gold glaring at your father.
“What good can come out of protecting a weak witch?” Your father pondered.  “You seem to care a great deal for her.  Even seem to love her.”
“It’s not your business. Buzz off,” Jungkook bit.
“She is my bloodline regardless-”
“She’s nothing like you!” Fire spewed from his lips, pluming at the back of your head.  “Y/n is so different, in so many ways.  Don’t you dare talk as if she’s anything like you.  You’re nothing but a blood tie- nothing more.”
You didn’t know how Jungkook’s anger spoke everything you wanted to say.  The anger and pain you felt turned into his words that spit from his lips as a mix of fire and voice.  Words that could literally burn.
Out of nowhere, your body locked up.  It suddenly felt like every nerve in your body was on fire.  Your breath hitched as your arm burned.  It pulsed and twitched as the magic that had lain dormant inside it began to surge tenfold.  It was like your flesh would be torn from your arm.
You screamed as your legs lost all their strength, knees caving as you dropped.  Jungkook’s fire smothered on his tongue briefly as he started to slowly panic. He held you under your arms as he brought you slowly to the floor.
Jungkook watched as you choked- heaving and struggling for a single breath.  Your body grew hot in his arms and you shook.  He saw your arm twitch and watched as it began to ignite with sparks of lightning.  Sparks that circled your arm and moved to slither along the floor towards Zaros.  His magic that blighted your arm connecting with the magic he has been charging out.
“Jung-” you gasped, “Jungkook!” Your throat burned as you felt like your insides were withering away.
“I- I don’t know what’s happening!” His eyes darted back and forth between scanning over your body and flicking up towards Zaros.  The warlock took a single step forward. “Stay away! Don’t come any closer to us!” Jungkook cried for Zaros to halt, eyes burning with angry tears.
A jolt of electricity shot from the warlock’s feet, surging towards you before it latched onto your body.  Your screaming was small, scratchy and your throat ached as your eyes released teardrop after teardrop.  Jungkook didn’t know what to do.
He tore off your bandages and scrunched his brow at your blight.  What once was white, bright magic had turned a glowing blood red.  Seeping further into your skin and creeping higher and higher up your arm.  The magic power Zaros was pushing into your arm was infecting the blight further and causing it to spread.  Jungkook shook his head rapidly, holding your arm that was hotter than his own furnaced skin.
“You’re killing her,” he whispered, voice cloaked in something like heartbreak.  “You are killing her!” He shouted, voice cracking as he held you. Your father was picking away at your life.  You were dying in his arms.  “Y/n please,” he didn’t know to whom he was pleading.  You? Zaros? God- if he really existed?
Jungkook’s own arm started to feel numb.  Pins and needles pinching his skin. He couldn’t take anymore; he had to get you away from Zaros and disconnect his magic from you.  That’s all he could think of doing to help you right now.
Lifting you, he turned and took off.  He was stuck between running and lifting off the ground to fly a few feet before running again, nearly tripping on his own two feet.  He moved to an outside courtyard, stumbling in the grass as he held you up.  Your eyes were dazed as you stared at nothing in particular. He could hardly see his own reflection in them anymore.
Your breathing seemed to steady after putting some distance between you and your father, however, if that was anything to celebrate.
“Y/n,” Jungkook softly called.
“I- I’m okay,” you gasped weakly.
“No.  No, you’re not.  Don’t lie to my face.  Not right now.”
“I’ll be okay, Jungkook.”
“No,” he denied with a shake of his head.  His eyes glazed over as he bit his lip to keep his tears from overflowing and trailing down his scaled cheek. “We have to go.  Go to Parrish or-or just away.  We have to-” his words repeated more to himself than to you.  His mind was spinning as he tried to stand, but each attempt was a failure.
His legs were weak, his arms were numb, his heart was heavy.  He was so scared and felt so hopeless as you were tired and in pain in his embrace sat in the grass of the school.  Not a person- student or teacher- in sight.  He curled in on himself as your chin rest on his shoulder, looking over his head.
Your eyes were nearly closed before they shot open again.  You started pushing on Jungkook’s shoulders, trying to kick and move even as weak as you were. Your vision was blurry, but you knew what you were seeing. You knew you saw Zaros getting ever so closer as something white flicked around his arm.
“Jungkook,” you breathed in worry.  “Jungkook, up.  Get up.” You huffed as you continued to relentlessly kick.  He finally looked up at you, eyes glazed over before they snapped open, bludging out.  His body jolted before you shrieked at the static shock that happened between the two of you.
His wings pulled back into his back as he slumped forward, body going limp on yours.  Your mouth opened before you could say anything, the burned hole in the back of his shirt that jumped with jolts of static and the smell of burning skin hit your senses immediately.  From afar, you caught sight of your father still coming towards you, lowering his arm that still crackled with bright thunder.  Your eyes filled with rage at the sight of him.
Zaros, your father, had just shot a lightning bolt straight into Jungkook’s turned back.  A cowardice move.  Attacking a man when his back was turned and he was protecting someone else.  He had injured your familiar, your friend, your- you stopped mid-thought.  Your veins ran with anger as red hot as your arm.
“Stay away,” you ordered, crossing your weak arms over Jungkook’s body, carefully holding him to you just as he had to you before.  Your father didn’t listen, pressing ever onwards in your direction.  “I said stay away,”  you said again- met once more with no such luck.  You set your jaw, eyes gleaming before you let out a pulse of energy.  “Stay back! GO AWAY!”
A wall of pure magic pulsed from you like a raging cannon shot.  The pure force of it dug an ugly trail in the grass, uprooting plants and leaving a path of dirt in its wake.  The force so strong it stopped your father's advance and shot him backward- throwing him against the nearest pillar that cracked upon his impact against it.
Your breathing was labored as your eyes kept their bright, magical glow.  Your body was running on overdrive- magical energy draining from you as your entire right arm was soon covered completely red. You couldn’t stop it anymore- your ability to stop and control magic didn’t exist right now. You were running yourself out. Jungkook, pulling himself together just for a moment, tried to calm you.
He saw your father, stuck against the pillar he was thrown again, a magic force pinning him down as the shoulder of his white shirt began to stain with the blood of his torn flesh. Jungkook looked into your eyes as you looked down at him.  You looked conflicted about something before you shut your eyes.
“Y/n-” He shut his mouth as you placed your hands on either side of his face, lowering your forehead to his.  You were warm- so very warm as he had half a mind to find peace in your warmth.  It was like there was a calm among the storm he was stuck in.  Your palms began to faintly glow and Jungkook could feel something seep into his skin- his very core- and then his eyelids began to lower.
He felt heavy and tired as he fought to stay awake.  He caught your brilliant, magical gaze once more.
“Don’t worry,” you told him with a smile so weak it made him want to weep.  “I’ll keep you safe, so just go ahead and rest now, Jungkook. Sleep, that’s an order.”
He wanted to protest.  Wanted to fight you on the subject of your words.  He had to protect you- not the other way around.  You were his master.  But, he couldn’t even open his mouth, words were so far from his grasp that speech was impossible. When your lips pushed against the skin of his forehead, his eyes slipped shut and he finally fell into sleep.
His back stinging with the sensation of white, hot lightning was the last thing he remembered feeling before the beginning of a dream that took root from the one tear he watched you shed- before he saw nothing at all.

The summer festival was everything you hated. It was loud and filled with people of all ages, milling around being needlessly loud. The city that you were in was a port city, creatively called Spiritport. Which meant that during the summer, business was booming. People were coming in and out of the city daily, but nothing drew people in like the summer festival. It took place at night in the heart of the city, to brighten up everyone's spirits and celebrate another year of prosperity. The town square was shut off especially for the event, lanterns were lining every building to provide light. There was a band playing somewhere in, the beat of the drums could be heard over the noise of the crowd. Vendors lined the alleys selling everything from exotic food to the finest silks. There was an elemental Fae doing tricks to entertain passersbys. One of the specialties of the summer festival was that Fae of all kinds were welcome to attend regardless of their status or powers. The air felt electric with the magic of all the fae combined.
It was too much for you. You felt like everyone was watching you and any minute someone would figure out who you were. You would get captured and sold to the highest bidder to do as they please. The only reason you were there was to get a pulse of the kingdom. There were rumors of the king going to war with the neighboring kingdom. That could only mean trouble for you because wars meant that you would have to constantly be on the move to avoid being caught by the King's men. The current King had the reputation of a kind man, but desperation makes even the kindest people behave in peculiar ways. It was the reason your kind had been driven to near extinction. They had been hunted and used as pawns by various kings and high fae. What was left of your kind were forced to go into hiding and be on the run for the rest of their life. You needed to keep tabs on what was happening in the kingdom, so you could run at the first sign of danger. Now, you were in the form of a young girl in her twenties. You had mousey brown hair that fell to the middle of your back, and soft features that were common around this part of the kingdom. The form allowed you to blend into the crowds without catching anyone's attention. It was perfect for your job at a local inn as well. It allowed you to keep your head down and work in the kitchen in exchange for a small room in the inn. You saw who was coming in and out of the city and what was happening in the neighboring kingdoms as well.
You stayed close to the shadows sliding into an alley near a musician with drums. Everyone was focused on the festival and didn't pay you any mind, granted your dark cloak made you blend in with the darkness around you.
You watched as a crowd gathered in front of the musicians and people started to dance to the music. It was then that he caught your attention. A shorter man with blue hair that matched the night sky was pulling him into the circle of dancers. He was wearing a loose shirt with the first few buttons undone showing off his tan chest. His pants were tight highlighting his muscular thighs which surely took some work. His dark hair was unruly and fell in his eyes but he didn't seem to mind. You couldn’t tell if he was fae; his ears were covered with his long hair. He was laughing like he was having the time of his life as his friend spun him around to the music. When he turned to face your way, his eyes drew you in. They were large and full of light. You hadn't seen such beautiful eyes on a human before they almost looked like the eyes of a fawn. And when you caught a glimpse of his smile, it reminded you of a bunny. Regardless of his resemblance to woodland creatures, he was undeniably beautiful. He was probably a woodland fae. Your eyes followed him as his friend dragged him away, no doubt to enjoy all that the festival had to offer. You didn’t when you started smiling, but it felt good. You let yourself imagine that it was you pulling him through the crowd, and you would be the one to take him home.
When he was lost in the crowd you saw something else that made your smile die on your lips. A man was pulling a panicked girl around your age in an alley. No one noticed the pair, as they were a little ways away from the vendors. The fear in her eyes set you off instantly, you darted out of the alley. You carefully made your way around the crowd towards the alley. Teleporting would be faster, but it took a lot of effort, not to mention, the advanced magic would draw a lot of attention.
As you approached your destination, you heard muffled cries. Pulling the hood of your cloak over your face you step to the alley. The sight in front of you made your blood boil. At the end of the alley, the man had the girl pressed up against the wall with a knife to her neck. Tears were streaming down the girl's face and she struggled to get away.
Your plans of not drawing attention to yourself flew out the window as you took a deep breath and prepared to shift. The shift itself only took a few seconds however, it required a lot of concentration. You sifted through your memory to find a form that would help you the most. The face of the stranger from before popped into your mind; his strong physique was just what you needed to defend yourself. You envisioned every detail of the man and felt your body change from. Your spine straightened and you felt yourself growing muscles. You took a second to adjust to your form. The loose trousers and shirt you were wearing under the cloak felt just a little tight but not so much that it hindered your movement.
You slowly made your way over to the man until you were standing directly behind him. You made eye contact with the girl. Her eyes widened and before the man could react, you grabbed his arm that was holding the knife and twisted it behind his body. You grabbed his neck with the other hand and whirled him around, slamming his face against the stone wall of the opposite building. You could shift your body as you move to make you lighter and faster on your feet. The girl let out a startled scream. You visibly winced knowing that, it definitely was going to draw the attention of one of the high fae, thanks to their advanced hearing. Just as you shoved his body into the shadows, you turned to see that the girl had run out of the alley. Before you could follow her, your ears picked up on the sound people approaching the alley you were in.
You hurriedly looked for another exit to the alley. You realized there was no other way out than the way that you came. Just as you turned to leave the way you came, you saw three men enter the alley, blocking your only way out; their faces hidden in the shadows. You realized that the only way you were getting out of the alley was by charging through them. You took a deep breath and hid in the shadows
As they got closer, the man in the center cried, "Who's there? Show yourself!."
You let out a light scoff. As if anyone would reveal themselves just because the other person asked. One of his companions seemed to agree with you, "When has that line ever worked Jin?" the one on the right side.
"Yah don't disrespect your superior like that you brat!" Jin fired back.
"Guys stop fighting! Now is not the time to be doing this" the last man spoke.
"Well, it's not my fault you guys have no manners! You need to treat your elders with respect!" The man's voice seems to rise with every word he said until it echoed in the small space.
The man on the right took a step back and turned to face the street as if he was looking for something in the distance. A nearby lantern illuminated his face and an involuntary gasp left your mouth. The man whom you were looking at was the same man whos form you were now in. At the sound, all three whipped their heads towards your hiding space. That shook you out of your shocked state. Using their momentary distraction to your advantage, you ran out of your hiding space. Your body collided with the man in the middle knocking him off-balance and took off down the street. You ignored the sounds of alarm from behind you and kept running. You could only think of one thing and that was that if he saw you, then it would be the end of your freedom forever.
You hear footsteps pounding on the ground behind you. One of them was following you and you could sense they were getting close. All you had to do was get out of the festival and into the dark streets beyond the square then, you could shift into another small animal and escape. You fought your way through the festival crowd. You could feel people's eyes on you but you kept running trying to lose the man hot on your heels. You weaved between vendors and people but it seemed like the man knew exactly what you were going to do. If it were any other time, you would be impressed, not a lot of people could keep up with your speed, but now survival was the only thing on your mind. He was probably high fae, which would explain how they could hear you. That made you run even faster.
When you got past the festival you ducked into a narrow street to your right. The further you went in the maze of the streets the darker it got. Almost everyone had shut down their business to enjoy the festival. You had to get to the inn so you could hide. The noise of the festival was slowly fading away as you run further. You dodged several crates littering the street and pushed them behind you to hinder your pursuer. You heard him mutter a curse, but he did not slow down. He was undoubtedly high fae and with the way, he was keeping up with you, definitely trained. You pushed yourself to be faster.
You made your way to your inn. It was located in the opposite direction of the port, bordering the forest that led to the rest of the kingdom. It was slightly detached from the rest of the crowded city, to give the guest some illusion of privacy. It catered to the High fae who preferred the serenity of the forest over the bustle of the port. It had a stable that stored horses of the guests of the inn. It was also where you stayed, there was a room in the upper portion of the stables that had a small cot and overlooked the animals. There was also an entrance at the back of the building that you got food deliveries from. You just had to make it in and then you could shift and slip into the kitchen. So many people moved in and out of the kitchen every day that the fae chasing you would surely lose your scent in the overwhelming atmosphere.
You turned into random streets to confuse him and after a few minutes, you heard his footsteps fade a little. You ducked into a narrow alley that opened to the small clearing in front of the inn. Some lanterns lit the front of the inn making it appear warm and inviting. You did not see anyone lingering in front of the building, most of the guests were probably at the festival you left behind. That meant you could go in undetected. As you were assessing the grounds, you failed to take into account that the footfalls of your chaser had picked back up. It was only when you heard the telltale sounds of gravel close by, that you took off towards the inn.
You turned to see if the man was close and saw him turning into the alley you left behind. You cursed, of course, it had to be him chasing you. Just then your foot got caught on a rock that sent you crashing to the ground. Your hands broke your fall as the wind was knocked from your lungs. You skidded to a stop. You groaned and rolled over to relieve the pressure on your chest. You cursed into the sky; that was what you got for making such an amateur mistake. When you finally got a sense of your bearings, he was coming to a stop in front of you. Your fall had forced your hood off of your head and as you looked up at the fae’s face you saw his eyes widen.
“How-” He never got to finish his sentence because the next second you hurled a rock lying by your hand straight at his face. He was out before he hit the ground
You really, really, hated the summer festival.

Shapeshifters (BTS RM sequel)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Namjoon x reader (Enemies to lovers)
Genre: Smut, angst, werewolf AU, slow burn, enemies to lovers, slight reverse harem.
Y/N was the big-eyed, suffered child who shivered in the corner as life presented her with more and more pain, trauma after trauma until she cracked inside and burned in rage.
The night her world was destroyed for the last time clicked something into place, a piece of her soul that was lost. Between fear, despair, loneliness and the animalistic will to survive, her path crosses that of a man.
Namjoon, whose eyes burn with fierce hatred, lips drip with blood, and hands that carry more sins than he will ever be able to bear.
Y/N and Namjoon were the children that life destroyed… It’s time to fight back.
*****************************************************************************
“Even as she maintains her strength against his wrist, the man’s hand doesn’t budge, resting heavily around her delicate neck but without applying pressure.
-Do you have any idea how simple… How easy it would be to take your life?
Namjoon’s whispered voice sends shivers that make the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, she’s shaking, heart beating faster and faster as he speaks.
-It would only last an instant and then… Dead, like the fragile and stupid creature that are humans, and I wouldn’t be able to stop it… I couldn’t…
Silence.”
