KOZUME KENMA

kenma had gone to the office for a conference, meaning for the first time in weeks, you were able to mess around in his recording studio (aka his home office). he had really expensive equipment, which made sense because his streams and youtube videos were all of a substantially high quality. that's usually why he wouldn't let you run around freely in his studio- not to mention that you were incredibly clumsy.

you walked into the room, turning on the purple lights he installed and sat at his desk. you knew his pc password so you logged onto his account and decided to play a few games he had- making sure not to ruin his progress or, delete his save file of course. after some time you got bored of it.

you then opened his spotify and put his favourite playlist on shuffle. your cat walked in and jumped onto your lap, "hey misty." she ran up your torso as you played around with kenma's pc. that's when you decided to have some fun and open his twitch and pretended to go live.

"what's up bros, it's kodzuken! back with another livestream!" you chuckled as you impersonated your boyfriend. after that, the cat jumped onto the keyboard, "misty no!"

in your fit to get her off, you tripped and hit your hand on the keyboard, changing the current song to a new one. "ow," you sighed, "misty, what if you messed up ken's setup? he'd be so mad at me..."

she meowed in response as you placed her on your lap again. the song that came on was one of your favourites, [song]. you started humming along until you got to your favourite part which is when you stood up and full-on started singing and dancing to it. you twirled around and picked up misty again to dance with her.

that's when the door opened.

"and- AHHHH!" your jumped when you saw the figure standing in the doorway with the most amused look on his face.

"no no, don't stop," kenma snickered. he was holding his phone up to record you. you felt embarrassed as you put misty down and shamefully sat down on the couch. "you're home early..." you mumbled. "yeah, the conference went by very fast luckily," kenma sat down in his desk chair and began fiddling with his keyboard and mouse, "however, as i pulled into the driveway..."

he pushed his chair aside so you could see the screen, "i got notified that 'i' began to stream on my twitch account?"

your heart sank as you began to fully grasp the situation. you had accidentally streamed yourself dancing and acting like a fool to kenma's whole audience. "oh my days, i didn't mean to do that! i'm so sorry! oh, i've made a damn fool of myself!" you panicked as you sped to his side to get a closer look at the monitor.

"don't worry, i enjoyed watching you," he chuckled before turning to his webcam, "did you guys enjoy that?"

you watched as comment after comment whirled down the screen. all of the ones you saw were positive, so that made you feel a little better. "see," kenma grinned, "you're so cute."

"stop..." you looked away bashfully as kenma laughed. "pull up a chair, y/n. join me on stream tonight."

you dragged over a spare chair and sat next to him, "my audience loves you," he leaned in close and whispered, "but not nearly as much as i love you."

"i love you too, ken," you whispered back.

for the next hour, you sat with him and played video games on his stream.

SUGAWARA KOUSHI

you poured fruit punch into the plastic cup as you watched the children dance and play. you were one of the adult chaperones for the sixth grade disco, mainly because your boyfriend worked at the elementary school. you unfortunately had to listen to kids bop versions of the songs you liked. not very pleasant.

"y/n," you felt a hand go around your waist. you looked to see koushi beaming at you. you smiled back and passed him a cup of punch, "thanks, any kids misbehaving?" he asked in-between sips.

"nope, although kaito pushed another student for taking the last grape soda," you explained as you watched the kids. "he's always been a rambunctious scamp, hasn't he?" koushi chuckled as he picked up a bag of crisps from the food table, "care to share, my love?"

"i thought you'd never ask," you spoke sarcastically as you took one out of the bag, "very luxurious..."

a slow dance song came on as the lights changed

"c'mon babe, this is fun!" he then pointed a finger to his chin in thought, "okay, c'mere!". he grabbed your hand and dragged you into the middle of the room.

"koushi- what are you doing?!" you whisper-shouted, looking around at the kids who had formed a circle around you two. a few of the girls started 'ooh'ing whilst the boys were making kissing noises. immaturity is a disease.

koushi then bowed dramatically, "care to dance, sweetheart?". the girls began squealing as he grasped your right hand with his left and held onto your waist with his right. he pulled you close and span with you around the dance circle. "koushi! what if we get in trouble?" you hushedly warned. "what for? we're just dancing," koushi lifted you and whirled around with you in his arms, causing you to shriek joyfully.

"go mr. sugawara! go y/n!" the students cheered. you saw the girls whip out their phones, ready to record their favourite couple slow dance. koushi's students loved you- mainly because you let them call you by your first name and you would bake treats for them for koushi to bring in and hand out. however they really loved you because, ever since you started dating koushi, he became a happier and nicer teacher.

he twirled you around before dipping you. once you were brought back up, he winked at you with a boyish grin on his face. his hands held your own as he pushed you back and pulled you close before turning you around. you continued to slow dance with him as the surrounding students squealed and giggled.

as the song ended, koushi placed a chaste kiss on your forehead. "i love you, y/n," he whispered into your ear. "i love you more, koushi," you lovingly held his hand. you looked towards the crowd to see more squealing and whispering.

"now now, let's be calm now guys," koushi playfully scolded, "remember, no photos or videos should be taken of teachers or their wonderful partners, right?"

"yes, mr. sugawara..." they groaned as he laughed. he jokingly shooed them away, "alrighty then, go dance!"

they cheered and ran off. you laughed as koushi led you back to the snack table. "they're gonna bug you about that for the next week," you smirked. koushi sighed as he drank his warm punch, "i know..." he turned to you with a grin on his face,

"it was worth it though."

BOKUTO KOUTAROU

"bokkun!" the ball went flying over the net as koutarou slammed it onto the other side of the court, "nice one!"

you being the s/o of star player bokuto koutarou, had the privilege of watching MSBY's practices. you watched as miya atsumu set up another ball for koutarou, which in turn, led to him practically soaring through the air to spike it.

"woo! go kou-kou!" you cheered from the bench. koutarou turned to face you and beamed brightly, his hair perking up. you loved cheering him on, simply because he would get so excited and it would help his performance. his teammates often thanked you for your presence.

"thanks, y/n!" hinata grinned as the team walked up to you. "yeah, bokkun always seems ta be at his best when yer here!" miya admitted, "such a frickin' show off!"

"shush tsum-tsum!" koutarou groaned as he shuffled over to you, "ignore him owlie!"

"aw, he calls them 'owlie'!" sakusa mocked to which he replied, "oh, come on omi, not you too!" you chuckled as you watched the humorous display.

however, this time was different. MSBY was struggling in this specific match. they won the first set but lost the second. you could tell koutarou was feeling dejected; he'd always feel discouraged at that point in any match.

during the three minute set changeover, you stood and shamelessly cheered louder than any fan in the stands. "go kou-kou! who's the man?! you the man!". he stared up at you with a pout before a lovestruck expression slowly spread across his face. you then subconsciously began to dance like a cheerleader to the music playing in the background, before blowing him a kiss. his mood lifted instantly and he shot you a determined grin. you returned it with a smirk.

miya hit his head, bringing him back to reality. koutarou quickly apologised as they ran back onto the court. with your praise, koutarou scored them the winning point. you cheered so loud, someone thought you were in trouble.

after they had changed, they met you near the entrance. after fighting past the crowd of fans, you made it to your boyfriend's car. as he pulled off, he placed his left hand on your thigh, driving with his right one.

"i saw that cute lil' dance you did, owlie," he gave you a side glance and a grin, "really gave me the push i needed. thanks!"

"no problem, kou! i love you so much and i love watching you play, so if i can help in any way, i'll be happier than ever," you chuckled, holding the hand that was on your thigh.

"i love you more, y/n. now, always and forever."

TENDOU SATORI

you were bored... painfully bored. unfortunately, he had to work on the day of your eighteen month anniversary. you decided that you couldn't wait for him to come home so, you put on your jacket, grabbed your bag and headed towards the chocolate place that was a few blocks away. as you walked there, you shot him a text.

heyyyyy 'toriii! i'm miss u and i can't wait for u to come homeee :((( so i'm coming to see u. hope it's not a bother :p

surprisingly, within a minute, he had already replied.

y/nnnn hiiiiii. no it's not a bother!! i do not mind at all!!! <333

i actually have a surprise gift for you at the chocolaterie mon paradis. so i'm glad i didn't have to ask you to come ;))

you beamed at the anticipation of what it could be as you started walking faster towards satori's chocolaterie. maybe the surprise would be a new expensive pair of shoes; knowing him it could probably be a whole surprise puppy. you had no clue when it came to satori. he was always so unpredictable, which you loved.

as the cute little building came into your line of vision, you internally squealed because of your excitement as you sped towards the door. as you opened it, you noticed a few customers sitting in the few chairs of the chocolaterie. however, you quickly diverted you attention to the red haired man who was standing behind the counter.

"hey hey, there you are," he cooed as he leaned his elbow against the counter, resting his head on his palm. you chuckled before walking behind the countertop to join him. "hiya 'tori!" he pulled you into a warm hug, arms wrapping around your waist.

"i'm so glad you're here sweetheart. i missed you so much..." he mumbled before having a light bulb moment. he grabbed your wrist and dragged you into the kitchen.

"okay are you ready to be amazed?!" he spoke in a mystical way as he covered your eyes. "yes, i'm ready!" you replied. "okay makio! bring it in!"

you heard wheels scrape across the floor as an object was pushed towards where you were standing. "okay, three... two... one!" his hands were removed from your eyes as makio revealed the chocolatey miniture statue of you and satori standing outside a small house. the position of the fake versions of you were made to look as if they were dancing.

"oh. my. gosh!" you exclaimed, "satori, this is incredible!". he chuckled as you closely inspected the build, "you like it?" he asked. "like it? i love it!"

he grabbed your wrist again and pulled you close to his warm body. he smelled sweet like caramel, cocoa and sugar. you loved that about him; the way he'd come home after a long shift and would cuddle you until you were drunk on the sweet smell he'd carry after making chocolate all day. you especially loved it when he had eaten some of the chocolate that he'd made that day because, it would make his lips taste sweet; this would always make your sleepy make out sessions all the better.

"y'know, i've never properly danced with you before, y/n..." satori closed the minuscule gap between you two before placing a soft kiss on your top lip, "let's give it a whirl, shall we?"

makio turned a slow song and dimmed the lights before she brought a tray of chocolates to the counter outside. you smiled bashfully as you wrapped your available arm around his neck, "we shall."

he placed a hand on your hips as he guided your body to the music. you squealed as he effortlessly lifted you up and spun you around. in the middle of the song, he lifted you again so that your legs wrapped around his waist. he sat you down on one of the surfaces before he lovingly gazed at you, completely enamoured by your being.

"mon amour, you are the most incredible person in the world you know that?" you felt butterflies erupt in your tummy as he whispered in your ear, "happy anniversary, i love you."

"i love you more satori," you smiled back at his grin. "no i love you more!" he argued. before you could refute his claim, he pressed his lips against yours. as he placed loving kisses onto your mouth, you once again smelled the sweet chocolate he had prepared that day. he placed a hand behind your head as he deepened the kisses, causing you to get completely intoxicated by his warm touch. you both had gotten so used to the warm feeling of each other's lips, that you didn't notice that the song was finished and that makio was standing at the door frame, awkwardly waiting for you two to finish before getting the second batch of chocolates for the display.

"mm... oh! sorry 'kio!" satori straightened himself out before helping you back onto the ground. she giggled before continuing her work.

"anyways, y/n...that was fun," he turned back towards you, "i'll never stop loving you."

you smiled bashfully again before returning his words, "i'll never stop loving you too, satori."

he placed a soft kiss to your lips, "now let's eat our chocolatey twins, plus their home!"

you burst out laughing at his absurd comment as you followed him to the statue. you picked up the figure of him and he picked up the figure of you. you gently knocked their heads together as a toast and bit into them.

they tasted absolutely delectable, just like his lips.

☆ he is not playing with you. he decided to be nice and place a sweet peck to your forehead, and you wipe it off? he actually didn’t think anything of it the first time, but then you did it again when he kissed your cheek. that’s twice, but he wanted to make sure you were actually wiping off the kiss, so he placed a peck to your other cheek this time. he scowls when your hand reaches up, and he knows you’re about to wipe that one off too. he snatches up your wrist, though his grip is gentle as he guides your hand back down to your side.

"what? my kisses not good enough for you?"

TENDOU

☆ he sort of took it as a challenge. he’s very affectionate and is always kissing and hugging you, so when you wipe the big smooch he placed on your cheek away, he just does it again. it quickly becomes a game of some sorts, him kissing your skin just for you to wipe it off, and it slowly gets faster and faster. he ends up winning by grabbing your hands and pecking all over your face, causing you to giggle and give up.

"i win! now, it’s my turn for a kiss."

AKAASHI

☆ he knew you were messing with him, and messed with you back. he’s very perceptive and quickly picked up on your little prank and the mischievous glint in your eyes. the first kiss he placed to your temple was quickly wiped away, and it made him pause. thought you might’ve been mad or the kiss was too wet, but the he spotted the twitch of your lips as you try not to laugh. to get back at you, he tilted your chin towards him, slowly leaning in to kiss your lips. however, right when his lips ghosted over yours, he stopped and pulled away. he saw your lidded eyes widen and a pout quickly form on your face, and he couldn’t help but chuckle.

"that’s what you get for wiping my kiss off."

Coach Washijou was intimidating in a manner disproportionate to his size, and simply put, he terrified you. He had already dealt with past managers only joining the team to flirt with team members, so he was even more tense than usual. It felt like every move was being watched and calculated to make sure you were adequate enough to manage the great Shiratorizawa volleyball team.

However, the coach was only one of the scary obstacles you had to face. The captain was another scary wall looming over you, despite him never saying anything to you besides ‘Thanks’ and ‘Hello’. The rest of the team was plenty intimidating as well, with most of them towering over you effortlessly.

You made it a point to remain as stoic and professional as possible during practice to seem cool and calculating, never wanting to run the risk that you might be perceived as childish. Tendou often tried to poke at you with remarks and jokes, trying to lighten your serious demeanor. Although you appreciated his attempts, you simply smiled politely and continued on your way.

“What’s their deal? Am I getting worse at jokes or something?” Tendou chuckled, leaning against the scoreboard casually.

Leon took a swig of his water bottle before responding, “Nah I don’t think that’s it, they’re probably just shy, I mean we’re not the friendliest looking bunch.” his gaze trailed over to where you were hastily picking up volleyballs around the gym.

Semi came up from behind Leon and slapped a hand on Tendou’s shoulder. “You’ll get a reaction soon enough, positive or otherwise.”

The redhead scoffed and shook his head, “What kind of encouragement is that..”

Their conversation was cut short by the coach’s booming voice yelling your name.

The boys watched curiously as you scurried quickly across the gym to the small man. “Yes, sir?”

“I have some paperwork I need to finish so I’ll be in my office, just start cleaning up if I don’t come back by the end of practice.” he stated gruffly as he rose from the bench.

You bowed as he turned towards the door and made his way out, silently relieved that you would get a break from his stern gaze. The team was instructed to practice serves for the rest of the day by the other coaches.

You took a deep sigh and closed your eyes. It was as if a hot spotlight that had been searing you for the whole day suddenly turned off.

The team practiced their serves in two groups, taking turns due to the sheer number of members. You passed out water bottles to the group currently taking a break, which included the starting lineup players.

Tendou spotted his window of opportunity, sauntering over to you with a pun brewing in his head.

“(l/n)!”

You turned to see the middle blocker jogging over to you with a grin on his face. Subtly straightening your back to look more professional, you responded “Yes? Did you need something?”

Tendou shook his head, “Nah, just wanted to chat.”

Your eyes widened in surprise, “Oh, um okay.”

He chuckled at your shy demeanor, “Anyway, I have a joke for you; when did the-”

He failed to finish his sentence before being slammed in the back of the head with a stray serve, leaving Tendou bent over in pain with his hands on his head.

A terrified looking first year stood trembling on the other side of the court while his friends were trying to hold back from cackling.

Tendou snapped up with a hand covering the back of his head, violently turning around to see who the culprit was. “Oi! Whoever did that is gonna pay!” he snapped.

You stood bewildered for a second before bursting out into uncontrollable laughter, hands moving to cover your mouth as you doubled over.

The third year turned back to you with a surprised look on his face, bewitched by your full smile and laughter. In fact, the whole team

You noticed he was staring and quickly started panicking, “I’m so so sorry for laughing, it just surprised me and-”

He cut you off, waving his hand with a smile, “No no it’s fine I’m not upset at you at all! But I can’t lie, that made me totally forget the joke.”

You giggled, and Tendou swore his heart skipped a beat when he saw your smile.

The rest of the team began to clamor around the redhead, making sure he was fine before continuing practice.

“Damn, our manager actually has emotions.” Semi stated with his eyebrows raised.

Leon lightly elbowed him in the ribs, “Don’t be rude, I told you they’re just shy.”

They looked over to see you handing a water bottle to Goshiki with a warm smile while he sputtered out “thank you” with a reddened face.

Shirabu rolled his eyes and crossed his arms at the first year’s reaction, “I don’t see why it’s such a big deal.”

Tendou smirked, “Yeah right, I saw your water bottle totally miss your mouth ‘cause you were staring so hard.”

The setter was unable to retort, the tips of his ears growing red at the middle blocker’s observation.

Meanwhile on the other side of the gym, you were finishing passing out water bottles to the team, ending with the captain. Handing off the drink to the intimidating ace, you immediately turned to leave before being interrupted by a call of your name. “(l/n).”

You turned with wide eyes, “Yes?”

Ushijima looked down at you with piercing hazel eyes as he spoke in a slightly (like, extremely subtly) softer tone. “You look good when you’re smiling.”

You felt heat growing across your face as you desperately tried to find a response, while the tall boy simply walked away.

From then on, you allowed your smile to slip out a little more around the team. Tendou was very appreciative of your newfound expressiveness, trying to make you laugh all the time to see that pretty smile. Everyone already liked you but now they love you, their precious manager. <3

you're sick sick. you're always in and out, mostly out, of school hence why you're close to friendless. actually, your very few friends had likely forgotten about you due to your condition but you don't mind.

you see [him] in your ward but there's only you two. it goes as being and feeling awkward being in the vicinity of each other until you reach out, "so, what are you here for?"

"oh, physical therapy cos of volleyball and stuff..."

you're not in need of physical therapy but you accompany him and stay with him in the room to keep him company. and before you knew it, you two started becoming friends. you get closer by the minute you keep talking and you're practically hospitalized buddies now.

it isn't until you start falling for him but you remember that your time in this world is nearly up. that said, you shouldn't even be friends with him because if he got attached, you would hurt him. it got a little bit awkward after the realization hit you but it got better when you started to forget.

...until you start liking him even more and you're sure it turned into loving him. the feeling of being attached to another being in this world when you'd rid yourself of these, hurt. you stripped yourself from family and even friends now so that it would hurt less for them and especially for you about leaving them, but now you love someone.

it takes a few days and nights, but then again, you're just human. it's impossible to strip yourself of attachments to this world. even the nurses that care for you, you get attached. even if it's not because they care about you personally and it's their job, people get attached anyway.

it takes a few days to come to terms with the fact that you love him but you'll also be leaving him a little after the time he leaves the hospital and finish physical therapy.

i only have months to live, can't i be a little selfish just once more?

things go back to the way they were with him and the days in this hellhole seem even brighter than the previous. hell, you two even look forward to everyday in the hospital.

it feels like things between you two, whatever that may be, is progressing. even if it's just your friendship for him, you're glad you're getting close. at least there can be someone to make your last few months worthwhile in the hospital.

it's cliche, but up in the rooftop of the hospital is where you can see everything so clearly. it's not as suffocating as it is inside the rooms and it's not devoid of colour. the cold air, too, is actually real and not coming from an air conditioner, it's also much more comforting when the wind blows and messes up your hairs and hit like thin, icy walls against your skin.

you could also look at him beside you and it's actually very romantic. you may just be for comfort and a friend to him, but he was something else to you.

you wish you could turn back time and meet him a little more sooner. but, if he had gotten his injury a little more sooner as well, then that'd mean you'd be alone in the rooftops by now.

days, weeks, and then months pass. here comes the marching of time that lead to your inevitable death. your final month to live in this very precious world.

his condition gets better, yours worsens by the hour you do anything stamina consuming.

on the note of your awful bind, you haven't told him what you were here for. but you don't plan on telling him anyway, and there's no point. if only the love you give could buy you time, you'd sure as hell be on the way to living an eternity by now. but that's not how it works.

with the sudden increase in his performance, he only gets a few days left before he can go. he'll be discharged early... meaning you'll be left alone and lonely earlier than it was initially.

"say, you haven't told me what you're here for so i'll ask if that's alright, what are you here for?"

ah, that question.

"hm, not answering that! it's a bit... embarrassing." will lying like this make the heavens change your mind about you and throw you to the fiery depths of hell?

"okay, okay, i won't ask since it's apparently embarrassing." he chuckled and oh my heavens, it's the most beautiful thing you have ever heard. it's more than enough to be considered as music to your ears and- okay, maybe you're exaggerating a bit, but it's true! something about his chuckles and laughs were so... words can't even describe.

"then, how about i ask when you'll get discharged?"

"by the second week this month, maybe by nightfall."

the smile that doesn't reach your eyes sends a chill down his spine. something wasn't going to happen to you, right? ...right?

the day of his leave from the hospital comes. you stare from the hallway as he speaks ever so brightly at the receptionists about his time with you and that he'll come visit you the day before and the day of your leave as well to return the favor of you helping him out and keeping him company.

he has a small and beautiful pot of tiger lilies, with a chocolate stuck to the soil since he didn't know what kinds of candies you liked. he makes a mental note to ask you right when he enters your ward.

he writes his name under the list of visitors and starts looking for the ward you both stayed in. he feels quite guilty for having been released early and not together with you, and it also sucks cos you were probably alone again.

but then again, you're getting discharged this evening so he can stay until you actually get discharged, and also, he can help you out while he's at it.

he finally gets on the floor and hallway to the ward. it's just at the end of the hall, but why are there nurses cleaning up all the beds? there's basically almost nobody there.

his heartbeat picked up its pace, had he missed it? did you actually get discharged earlier than what you thought?

until he sees there's still one more curtain that was left unopened. he breathes out of relief and begins to run towards your bed despite the warnings of refraining from running in the slippery floors. and with a bright smile on his face, he turns to your bed, almost slipping in the process. he'd been very picky with the flowers and chose the ones he had as a symbol of yours and his friendship but...

the bed is empty, lacking a you or your belongings.

a nurse comes in, opening the curtain and starts changing the sheets.

did he really miss his chance at wishing you well from this point on?

"uh, nurse, where's y/n? did they get discharged already?"

"i don't– oh..."

"oh?" why was their reaction like that? something bad didn't happen, right?

"they passed last night."

he arrives back home.

his parents welcomed him home and inquired about the pot of flowers but he hadn't answered, just put them down on a clear table before walking to his room with disbelief and shock as an evident expression on his face.

you passed? last night?

there was a heavy tug on his heart, his chest was tight and his shoulders were heavy. he didn't feel the need for anything and his mind was still trying to process everything.

you passed... last night...

the last he'd seen you was a week before. he couldn't visit you everyday like he was planning to because of the amount of schoolwork thrown at his face that he had to make up due to his absence.

it started with a heavy heart and shoulders.

then, he feels all the sorrow and grief as he mourns your death. his knees drop down to the concrete floor, earning a thud but the pain he felt in his chest was much greater than a simple knee to the concrete.

tears streaming his face as fast as they could, like they were rushing to go somewhere. they just kept coming so he didn't bother to wipe them away as he wailed on his bedroom floor.

"y/n...!"

he screamed and cried, wanting nothing more than this to be a joke.

"you said..."

you probably did lie to him. you weren't going to just leave the hospital, no, you were going to leave this world as well. to leave him.

"please... this has to be a joke."

Tendou would start off comforting you then slowly descend into insulting everyone who once wronged you.

Even if it was something small like they bumped into you.

If you were crying before, at the end you’ll be crying with laughter whether it’s from his jokes or tendou just tickling you.

He just wants you to smile again.

Miya Atsumu

Atsumu will listen to everything you say with a sad look on his face, he says he is an empath and can feel everything you feel.

He finds it really sad and will lay there with you in your little slump until you start to feel better.

Secretly asks for advice from Samu that he then tells you pretending he thought of it himself.

He’ll smother you until you smile again.

Tsukishima Kei

Can not comfort and will not attempt to.

Tsukki will just subtly do things for you to cheer you up. He will literally google how to give good advice and just copy some cringey post and send it to you.

If you cry whilst talking to him, he will pull a face but after that he feels guilty and will rub your back until you calm down. Though there might be a distance between the two of you.

Tbh he just wants you to smile again so he’s not left feeling awkward.

Iwaizumi Hajime

Iwa is awkward at first with you but when he notices how much it’s affecting you, he’s putting everything down to stay with you for as long as you want.

He’d hold you as you fill him in about it all and once you’re finished, he’d tell you his view on it.

He’s a nice mix of both logical and emotional advice. One of the best people to have around because he’ll tell you things honestly but also will give great advice on how to make things better.

Definitely has his eye on you the rest of the week to make sure you’re doing okay and just in case you need him randomly. Gets your friends to give him regular updates on you.

It’s not a pleasant feeling. This is his first birthday that Tendou has ever spent on his own, in the City of Dreams.

Paris; it was mostly referred to as the “City of Lights”, but he calls it his City of Dreams because it is the place were his dream of becoming a chef and running his own chocolaterie came true. He’s been here for half a decade now and accomplished so much.

Not without his own hard work and sacrifices, though. And he must say, the biggest sacrifice he’s had to make so far is having to part with you.

Usually, videochats and lovey text messages are enough to fill the distance between you both, but it’s on lonely nights like these, where he is hauling himself towards the elevator of his apartment complex — wearing his stained chef whites with a heavy rucksack slung over his shoulders — that he realises how truly arduous it is to be alone. To be without you.

All of his movements were frigid; nothing felt right today. He scanned his key then pressed the button for his apartment.

5. The penthouse. He used to live on the second floor of this same apartment complex but once he gained the funds for it, he managed to ascend all the way up to the highest floor.

For him, usually his residence is a symbol of how far he has come and all that he has achieved through his perseverance, but today it only reminded him of you and how you had yet to come see his new house (that he has had for over a year now). He has given you a virtual tour of it but that’s not the same as having you lie down next to him in his twin bed, cuddled up to his chest while he has his arms wrapped lovingly around you, whispering sweet nothings into your ear.

Oh, and he remembers when he first mentioned that he had bought a twin bed, you were rightfully confused. When he is rich enough to buy a penthouse, how can he not afford a double bed?

Well, his explanation is quite simple, really. The less space in the bed, the more cuddling that will occur. And maybe other things too, who’s to say?

Plus, they don’t make race-car beds in king size! (Jokes, he doesn’t have a race-car bed; they don’t make them in any size above small single, and cuddling with you in a single bed would simply be claustrophobic. He does care a lot about your comfort.)

As the lift slowly began to ascend upwards, he was left to ponder what he had done wrong. Every year, you make it a point to come visit him for his birthday, while he visits you on your birthday and most other holidays. Including pancake day. (Because, let’s face it, it’s a lot cheaper to leave Paris than it is to get in.) However, this year you said you couldn’t make it due to work commitments.

And at first he was irritated because he wasn’t really used to you putting your work in front of your relationships. Plus, he’s gone to hell and back rescheduling appointments, just so he could see you on your special day. Why couldn’t he get the same thing in return? But then it dawned on him that the whole reason you are both apart in the first place is because of his own work commitments. So he didn’t really have the authority to be upset with you, only with himself.

A faint ring echoed through the elevator and Tendou couldn’t help but heave a sigh. This was sure to be his worst birthday yet. There is always next year, though.

The elevator door parted before his heavy eyes. He’d been running on caffeine, so he wasn’t able to tell if he was hallucinating when he saw his living room floor scattered with confetti balloons and multi-coloured streamers hanging from the wall, decorating the tables and lining his couch. It appeared as though a rainbow had come crashing down on his previously Rustic, minimalist living room.

Though he wasn’t opposed, the bright splashes of colour really did cheer him up. Perhaps the thing that was bringing him down was living in such a dull and lifelessly decorated house. Up until now, he’d accepted how the house came pre-furnished and never really interfered with the décor, but now that his eyes have been opened to how lively and optimistic his environment can make him feel, his first instinct was to rush to his computer and start searching for an interior designer.

Of course, he will do that after he finds the person responsible for livening up his house, because it certainly was not him. It’s likely to be the doings of his landlord or a.. very friendly burglar. Because he did notice that his antique chocolate cuckoo clock was missing.

“Hello?” His voice echoed through the living room. His jaw immediately snapped shut when he heard movement coming from the kitchen; what sounded like shuffling and humming. Though whatever it was, didn’t acknowledge him at all.

Instead of engaging with the demon that could possibly be present in his home right now, he reached out to grab the tablet that rested on the wall right next to the elevator. It was the device that was connected to all the security cameras he had set up in his house.

Scrolling through all the footage, he finally landed on the camera view that was currently recording the kitchen and his heart skipped a beat.

It wasn’t a burglar or his landlord. And quite frankly, he would have figured it was some sort of demonic entity before he would’ve guessed that the person in the kitchen of his Parisian Penthouse would be you. The person who said they couldn’t have made it to celebrate his birthday even if they begged their boss for a day off. Even through a low-quality cheap camera, he was able to recognise your grace.

Tendou smiled and tossed the tablet onto the couch, racing to the kitchen at top speed so he could finally take a look at you after all this time. You already had him grinning from ear-to-ear at the mere sight of you through a screen, so imagine the tears he wept when he was finally standing in the same room as you.

“(y/n)..” he gasped, frozen in place at the entrance of the kitchen, gazing at your figure through glossy eyes. You had a glamourous outfit on, perfectly styled hair and in your hand was a piping bag as you worked away at the final details at what he presumed was his birthday cake.

Upon hearing his voice, you visibly tensed. Not because he was home earlier than you expected, but because it had been so long since you had heard his real voice. His authentic voice that hadn’t been altered by the quality of his microphone or the static of your wifi. It was his kind voice that called out to you, which result in you spinning on your heels and immediately dashing towards him to engulf him in your arms.

And he wasn’t taken aback or surprised in the slightest. Ever since the moment he left you last time, he’s been prepared to take you in his arms again. He adores nothing more than your chest pressed against his, and how your loving, soft lips capture his own. For a tender kiss he wishes could last a lifetime.

Soon, you part and his hand gently caresses your arm until he can take your chin between his index finger and thumb, to share a longing gaze. “I missed you so much.” He whispered, a foolish grin still painting his features.

You laughed, knowing that he’s only being quiet because you’ve told him off in the past for cheering and being loud when you’ve come to visit. However, that was only because you guys were in the airport and people were staring. “Tendou,” You cupped his cheek with your palm, “We’re alone, you don’t need to whisper.”

He laughed, shifting his hand from the small of your back and resting it upon yours, “Alright, if you insist.” He took a deep breath, then yelled, “What the fuck are you doing here?!”

You almost winced at how loud he was but just laughed since you did ask for it, and were fully expecting it. “I’m here for you. I couldn’t let you be alone on your birthday!”

His expression softened and his heart melted. How could he have ever doubted your love? What an idiot.

He pulled you back in for another feverish hug, “You’re the best, (y/n). I adore you.” He genuinely couldn’t find the words to express how overjoyed he was to see you, on his special day. Not only that, but you brought cake! “Is that vanilla?” His warm breath tickled your ear, as he motioned to the two-tier, brightly iced cake sitting on the counter.

“Close. It’s vanilla confetti cake!” You finally let go of Tendou, only so you could grab his hand and urge him towards your masterpiece. “Come, look!”

Complying, he walked over to the cake, but paying most of his attention to how cute you were when you’re excited, and how surreal it was to feel your hand in his.

“I made it myself because apparently no local bakers stock confetti cake. But anyway, I iced it as well!”

“Why is elmo on it?”

“That was supposed to be you but then I messed up so I had to turn it into elmo.”

“Ah, I see.” It was mostly covered with pale buttercream icing but on the top, there was the picture of elmo, and on the side of the second tier, black text read, “Happy Birthday, Guess Monster!” And he couldn’t help but snicker, as you and Ushijima are the only ones who still sometimes call him by that old highschool nickname, just to tease him.

“Thank you so much, darling. I can’t believe you’ve went to all this effort just for me.” He wrapped an arm around you and pulled you to his chest, and this time, as he tried to catch a whiff of the cake, he noticed that you smelt like burnt chocolate. Or perhaps that was him, he is the one that works in the chocolaterie, but he’s good enough that he doesn’t burn the chocolate anymore!

“Am I hallucinating or do you smell like burnt chocolate?”

“Uh, you’re sane.” You grimaced, and shot him an innocent look, “Please don’t be mad.”

“What happened?”

“I had to take your cuckoo clock off the wall to put up the streamers and I had no idea it was chocolate so when I left it near the microwave, it kinda melted.” You confessed in one breath in hopes that would soften the blow, but he didn’t seem fazed at all.

“Even if it was wood, why would you leave it by the microwave? I’m pretty sure wood is flammable”

“Because I was in a hurry! It’s really difficult trying to sneak in here, decorate the place and make this cake under three hours!” You tried to cry and express irritation, but as soon as you heard Tendou snickering under his breath, you couldn’t help but burst out laughing, and so did he.

“It’s fine, doll, I’ll just make a new one at work. Or maybe I don’t need one. I was just thinking about refurnishing anyway.” He shrugged, ruffling your hair slightly.

You nodded, biting your lip as you were hastily reminded of another piece of tragic news, and he could immediately tell in your shift in aura that something was wrong. Hence, he was already prompting you to let him know if something was bothering you, or if you were worried or feeling jetlagged.

“No, I feel fine, Tendou. It’s just that..” You trailed off, finally finding the courage to meet his affectionate red eyes. “My boss was serious when she said she’d fire me if I took this week off to see you. So I’ll have to start looking for a job straight away.”

He hummed slightly, unsure of what to say at first as he simply caressed your arm for a few moments, in complete silence. “I’m so sorry, (y/n). But if you want, you can always come work with me.”

You giggled, scratching your neck awkwardly, “I appreciate the offer. But I don’t know the first thing about being a chocolatier.”

“I could teach you.” He squeezed your shoulders slightly and you could tell from his wide eyes that he was being completely serious. “And you could live here with me! I’ll even buy us a kingsize instead of having us sleep in the twin bed forever!”

Your throat dried and your palms were hot; it was a lot of pressure to contemplate such a big decision right now. Yet, something about this entire situation felt so right, that you couldn’t possibly say no outright. In fact, if being a chocolatier and making food was as fun as making that cake, then everything about the arrangement sounds perfect to you. You’d have a job, a home and you’d get to stay with Tendou.

Hence, before you could even waste another second thinking about it, you blurted out, “That would be amazing, Tendou. Thank y—” Before you could even finish, he scooped you up in his arms and began twirling around the kitchen.

“No, thank you, (y/n).” He stopped spinning but held you above him, so he could gaze up into your hypnotic eyes, “You’re so perfect. Thank you for making this the best birthday I’ve ever had.”

Y’all started dating because you talked to him about shounen jump 🥺❤️

You didn’t mind telling people about your relationship, but Tendou didn’t want people to think you’re weird for dating him so he didn’t want to make it public :(

He is the biggest cuddlebug behind closed doors, always waiting for a chance to give you a hug or kiss when he thinks no one is watching

You were a little early for practice this morning, arriving before anyone else. Rocking back and forth on your feet, you waited by the gym doors for someone with a key to show up.

“Hey (y/n), you’re up bright and early aren’t you?”

Turning towards the familiar voice, your face broke out into a sweet smile once you saw that it was your boyfriend with the keys dangling from his finger.

He looked around for any possible spectators before making his way towards you with open arms, engulfing you in a warm embrace. Looking up at him without removing your arms from his waist, his lidded gaze met yours.

“Can I get a boost for the day babe?” he inquired, tilting his head with a small grin.

“Of course Satori, I’ll do you one better and give you two boosts today.”

You giggled and tip-toed up to reach his lips, giving him a sweet lasting kiss before finishing off with a peck on the lips.

A loud thud of a gym bag hitting the ground nearby startled you, jumping a little before turning towards the source.

There stood a very flustered Goshiki, staring at the both of you before frantically apologizing and running away. You looked at each other for a second before breaking out in fits of laughter.

“Did you see his face? I wish I had my phone out!” you chortled.

Tendou laughed with you for a bit before speaking, “Ah well, I guess the cat’s out of the bag now,” sheepishly rubbing the back of his head.

“I know what you’re thinking, Satori, and I assure you that I am perfectly happy to call you my boyfriend no matter who I’m talking to.” you responded with a warm smile.

The tall boy’s eyes widened at your response, but he quickly pulled you back against his chest in a tight hug.

“How did I get so lucky?”

The rest of the team finds out during practice that morning when they see Tendou lean down to give you an unabashed kiss on the forehead

Ushijima is supportive, he’s content to see his friend happy :)

Semi is proud of his friend, but is secretly glad that he won’t be the main focus of Tendou’s teasing anymore

Goshiki can’t look you in the eyes for the next few days, (poor boy is mortified that he possibly disrespected his senior) but he gets over his embarrassment eventually

Date Tech’s volleyball team was having a practice match with Karasuno today, and Aone wasn’t feeling right. He kept missing spikes and misreading blocks, allowing Karasuno’s aggressive attacks to rack up points.

It was a timeout, and Aone was pacing and scowling, making him look even scarier than normal. You were handing out water bottles to the team, reaching your boyfriend last.

Handing him the bottle you gave him a reassuring smile.

“Hey, everyone has off days, you’ll bounce back in no time.” you put your hand on his arm and squeezed it comfortingly.

Aone simply let out a gruff sigh and turned his head to the side, fixing his gaze on Karasuno on the other side of the gym.

You pondered for a moment, but got an idea and beckoned for your tall boyfriend to bend down a little. He followed suit and was quickly met by a small peck on the lips.

You pulled back and grinned, “I hope that gave you a little boost.”

Aone’s face flushed slightly, but he grabbed your hand and smiled at you warmly. “Thank you.”

The rest of the team just gaped in shock as they had just witnessed what had happened. Futakuchi was the only one who seemed unphased. Koganegawa looked like he was about to explode with questions, but the whistle signaled that their break was over. Unfortunately, Karasuno’s libero had spotted you as well, and was now yelling about also needing a kiss. The match was very chaotic after that.

Aone never missed a block for the rest of the match. ❤️

Futakuchi already had an inkling that something was going on between you two, so when he saw it happen he was smirking knowingly

Koganegawa on the other hand did not suspect anything, so he was the most excited (lol, oblivious baby 😭💕)

You heard the sliding doors of the convenience store open as your boyfriend came out with a plastic bag around his arm.

Settling himself next to you, he handed you an ice cream bar.

You smiled cheekily, “Thanks babe, you want me to pay you back for these?”

He responded with a chuckle, “Nah, but I do know something you can do in return.” he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. You giggled and reached up to give him a solid kiss on the lips.

The rest of the team was still processing what had happened (except Hanamaki, who whistled and shot his friend a thumbs up and a grin).

Oikawa was the first to react, dramatically putting his hand over his heart. “My dear friend and precious manager have been dating this whole time and never told us? You wound me, Mattsun!”

Casually slinging an arm around your shoulder, he replied “We were waiting to see if anyone could figure it out, but you guys were taking waaay too long.”

Iwaizumi was still blushing slightly at the show of public affection, but sighed in relief, “Thank god, now Oikawa’s fangirls won’t be shooting death glares at you all the time.”

You turned towards the ace, “Wait really? They thought I was into him?” you snorted, jabbing your thumb towards the captain.

The team laughed at your tone, except Oikawa who crossed his arms and stuck his nose up in indignation.

Oikawa quickly got over himself and is now your biggest shipper

From now on before every game, you give Matsukawa a quick kiss for good luck

The Seijoh seniors are now extra protective of you, making sure no one would even think about hitting on you at games or practice matches
