Saw a fanart of Crocodile as, well, a crocodile, and was IMMEDIATELY then possessed by the need to create a small air-dry clay figure of crocodile as his namesake in his iconic outfit (nearly put a banana on his head like his beloved bananadiles and then didnt because I'm a coward). The clay I used (DAS air dry, paper based) isn't my favourite compared to other earthen based ones I've used before (critterclay...), but I still got the hang of using it anyhow. There's really something all consuming about sculpting things.

heartbreak
ft.: timeskip akaashi x reader
cw: angst, mentions of a break-up, heartbreak, pining
word count: ~950 words
Tumblr media
Whenever Akaashi pictured himself holding you tightly in his arms, he imagined that he would feel like the luckiest and happiest man on the planet.
Unfortunately, that isn’t the case right now.
He is sitting beside you on your sofa, his arms firmly wrapped around your shaking frame as you heavily sob into his chest. Because of how you’re positioned, he cannot see your face, yet he can feel your tears gradually soaking his cotton shirt, but he doesn’t care or complain. Akaashi simply allows you to continue to cry as he rubs soothing circles on your upper back.
After a few minutes, your sobs recede, and you pull back from the embrace to look at your friend with puffy, red eyes.
“I’m sorry for ruining your evening,” you hoarsely murmur as you attempt to give Akaashi a vague smile.
Instantly, Akaashi shakes his head and takes one of your hands into his. “You didn’t ruin my evening, Y/N. I’m here to listen whenever you need someone to talk to.”
“It’s just…” you commence to say before you start sniffling again. Quickly, Akaashi reaches for the tissue box resting on top of the coffee table and hands it to you. You take a tissue to blow your nose then resume speaking, your voice barely above a whisper, “People have been telling me it’s been two months since we broke up and I should think about moving on and forgetting him, but…it’s hard. I still love him. It’s not like I can wake up one morning and decide to erase him from my memories. Does that make sense?”
Although it stings to hear you declare your love for someone else, Akaashi nods along.
When Akaashi met you, you were already in a relationship with your now ex-boyfriend: you two had been dating since university and your love for one another was evident. Whenever you were with him, you looked at him with so much adoration and vice versa. You seemed like a couple from a romance movie that was destined to grow old together.
Everything abruptly changed, though, when your former partner had received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work at his dream job in Europe. He was excited at this prospect, and he asked you to move abroad with him, but you were hesitant. You didn’t want to move to a different country and be away from everything you know and love indefinitely. At the same time, you also didn’t want to hold your boyfriend back either from doing something he was so clearly enthusiastic about. This ultimately resulted in a mutual, yet heart wrenching, break up.
And today is the day your ex officially left Japan permanently and this knowledge absolutely crushed you. You honestly hadn’t anticipated being overwhelmed by a tidal wave of devastation, which is why you called Akaashi and asked him to come over.
“Of course it makes sense,” Akaashi gently assures you. “Ending a relationship doesn’t mean forgetting what you had. And what you had with him was truly special. You should be allowed to take all the time you need to process and heal.”
Akaashi would be lying if he said that the words coming out of his mouth didn’t feel like a knife repeatedly stabbing his heart. A miniscule sick, twisted part of him considers that maybe he should be happy that you're no longer in a relationship. However, he pushes aside and squanders these cruel thoughts. He could never take glee from your misery.
Ever since you began working in his department, Akaashi felt an attraction towards you. But after he learned you were already dating someone, he tried his best to repress his feelings. He figured that if he pretended his feelings for you didn’t exist, perhaps one day they would magically disappear.
But as you and Akaashi went from being just co-workers to becoming extremely close friends, those feelings didn’t vanish. Instead, they grew intensely. If Akaashi’s initial crush on you was like the spark of a campfire, his feelings for you now burned with the intensity of the sun. And he is very much conscious of the fact that these feelings are not fleeting.
Akaashi is madly in love with you, but he knows he cannot tell you, even though you are technically single.
He is aware that your heart has been completely shattered. It would take a while for you to pick up the pieces and for you to return to some semblance of normalcy. Him confessing to you would only add to your state of confusion. And that’s the last thing he wants to do.
“Thank you for being so understanding,” you sigh, leaning your head against his shoulder.
The blue-eyed man takes this chance to throw a comforting arm around your shoulders before responding, “I’ll always be there for you, Y/N.”
You glance up at him and are met with a warm gaze that lets you know that everything will eventually be alright. And you feel yourself smile a genuine smile for the first time in weeks. It’s the type of smile that would make Akaashi go weak at the knees if he was standing.
“I’m really lucky to have you as a friend, Keiji,” you remark as you take your index finger and thumb and adjust his glasses, so they rest securely on the bridge of his nose. This small gesture produces a tiny lopsided grin from the dark-haired editor and temporarily alleviates his aching heart.
If a supportive friend is all you need right now, Akaashi is content to be that friend. He’ll gladly ignore his own heartbreak to help you through yours.

Bread around the world
Tumblr media
Let me be a bit cliché German today. Let me talk about bread. Because we Germans are fucking obsessed with bread, as it is so often parodied by folks from other countries. And yes, this is true. The rest of the world does not understand why sour dough is so much better than this horrible bland white bread you guys eat!
*coughs*
But... Did you know that bread is a thing that shows up throughout so many cultures and throughout human history in so many different forms?
But for that we gotta talk a moment about what even is bread. Because some folks do define it as something that needs yeast and some sort of corn within the European sense of the word.
A more general definition, though, is that bread is a food created by mixing some sort of flour with a liquid and then cooking this mixture until firm.
Which is what I will go by here. So... let me talk bread.
Tumblr media
What little German pride I have asks me to start this off with sourdough bread. Which since the pandemic started a lot of people have learned to make. Instead of using some poor form of yeast, the yeast is won by leaving a very liquid mixture of flour and water (and at times malt) out in the open for a couple of days, so that yeast from the air can settle in the mixture. This mix is then added to more flour and water and kneaded, rested, then kneaded again, to develop it texture. It is then baked as a loaf.
Now, this way of making bread dates back forever. Because we have found old sourdough bread that is almost 6000 years old. It was probably white spread across the ancient world.
Tumblr media
The probably most German version of sourdough bread is pumpernickel, which has been made with a very coarse rye flour. In fact the city I live in is quite famous for the pumpernickel bread here.
Funnily enough, pumpernickel was originally the bread of the poor and those, who were doing religious penance, because while it is super healthy, it is a) very cheap to make (not that you would know looking at the prices it is sold by today) and b) not that tasty, as it just has a very, very strong and rather bitter flavour.
But in the middle ages rye was the cheapest kind of corn around. So... pumpernickel was the thing they made.
Tumblr media
Borodinsky is another rye bread - this one from Russia. Again, rye was for the longest time the cheapest kind of corn over here, so it was most often used in baking bread. The big difference to pumpernickel is, that in borodinsky the rye flour is a lot finer and the bread gets sweatened with malt, so that it does not taste quite as strongly and bitter, as the pumpernickel does.
Tumblr media
Funnily enough the Turkish Bazlama flatbread traditionally also is a sourdough bread, as the same process was used as leavening for the bread in this case. If you have ever eaten bazlama, you will know that even though it is a flat bread it is relatively fluffy on the inside. Which comes from the sourdough levening.
Tumblr media
Now, funnily enough: The French often do not have this big thing with sourdough, even though they, too, are quite famous for their breads. But ever since we humans figured out how to isolate yeast, the French basically went like: "Well, if we use pure yeast, the result will be a lot more predictable." Because sourdough has this aspect that it will taste a little different depending on where you created it - at times even dependent on the time of year.
So, baguette is a yeasted bread and it uses fine, white wheat flour, which is a lot nicer in taste than rye.
Tumblr media
Now, Japan is of course not a country with a long bread tradition. Mostly because rice usually does not make for a good flour for bread and the like. But ever since bread came over and became popular, they have come up with a few of their own creations. Shokupan - milk bread - is probably the most well known example of this. This, too, is a wheat and yeast bread, but it also uses milk instead of water and is very enriched with all sorts of things, so that it is softer and also a lot sweeter than other breads.
Tumblr media
Naan is a bread most probably know from the Indian cuisine, but it is in fact another super old kind of bread as it originates in Mesopotamia. As such it was originally also made as a sourdough, those these days it is often done just with normal yeast as leavening. And it is spread fairly far within the Arabian subcontinent and the Indian subcontinent. The interesting thing is, that it is a flatbread, but it is usually completely oven baked.
Tumblr media
Chipati is an unlevened flat bread that is quite common in eastern Africa. It is usually really thin and is served as a side dish to all sorts of soups and stews, often used to carry those with people dipping the bread in the soup/stew or putting stew onto the bread.
Tumblr media
And while we are on the topic of unlevened flat breads: Tortillas are among those, too. They are kinda interesting in so far that, while most tortillas sold these days are wheat based, there is a version around made from maize, too.
But yeah, usually most breads are made with wheat or rye or maybe spelt, because breads... just turn out best, when they have gluten, as gluten helps to develop those fluffy textures we associate with bread. Which is why bread tends to be most common within areas, where they had some access to gluten rich corn. xD

“He works hard for the sake of other people” || Bits from the interview with Uno Shoma’s ex-coach, Higuchi Mihoko
"I've known Shoma ever since he started skating casually at the rink when he was small." "I asked my assistant at the time to ask his mom if he was in any classes anywhere. It turned out that he was just coming to the skating rink for fun, and didn't  decide what to do yet.” About why she asked if he was taking any classes: "He was just so cute!" "Also there was a sparkle. He had something that caught my eye." Which seems to be 'sense'. "You can call it sensitivity. A sense for skating, for jumping, having everything that you need for figure skating. That's what I mean." "Honestly I didn't know what would happen until he made it to Seniors. He couldn't land jumps, and he couldn't make it to the podium although he was a top skater among the other athletes who couldn't land jumps." "But he really loved skating, and he practiced to the point I would wonder how he could skate this much." About Shoma leaving them; "It seems that Yamada Machiko sensei recommended it to him for a while but rather than saying 'It's better if you go', I used to say ‘Why not ask various choreographers to work with you?’, 'Should we learn jumps from a different coach?'” "That's because I wanted him to broaden his horizons even more. However he didn't have any interest in that. Even about working with another choreographer, he would only say ‘maybe if it's an Exhibition program'. " About the time Shoma didn't have any coach and started getting bad results: "I couldn't watch it."  "I didn't think about asking him to come back. Because there'd be no point of it if he just came back. I wanted to watch over him, while cheering him on." After Shoma began working with Stephane; "I thought he picked a good place. I thought Stephane would work well with Shoma. He was really teaching with utmost effort in Team Japan Training Camp, and you can be at ease around him." "Besides he can dance and skate, aside from jumps. Isn't he one of the best, even now? That's how good he is." About Shoma's bronze medal in Olympics and gold medal in Worlds; "I watched Worlds in real time on TV. Without realizing, I was sitting up straight and shouting 'Do your best!'" "He had a great expression on his face and since his body looked even in better shape than it was in Olympics, so I thought he could actually do it. I thought "Finally!" when he became the champion." About the factors of Shoma's success this season; "When he was with me, he'd never say things like 'I want to aim for the gold medal' or 'I want to be the champion'. Because he's the type who just wants to make the performance his own." "However, winning the silver medal at Pyeongchang changed his perspective and I think without realizing, he began to push himself further." "I think Kagiyama Yuma had a big presence in that. I think he realized he needed to figure out what he wanted to do, with Hanyu Yuzuru at the top and his juniors coming up, he knew he had no choice but to do his best." Shoma's personality also played a part in his success; "Back when he was with me, if he made a mistake, he'd apologize after he came back by saying "I'm sorry, I couldn't show a good performance. I apologize. On the contrary, if I felt happy, he'd say he's happy because I was." "He was the type who wouldn't really be pleased because he's so strict with himself, but he'd say he's glad if his coach his happy. During the World Championship in 2018, he was hurt in his leg and honestly he was in a condition where he should have withdrawn."  "However he was worried about the spots for Japan (for the next year's Worlds) and after his performance was over, he asked 'The spots are okay, right?'" "Shoma works hard for other people's sake. He cares about his surroundings. Oh that's right, he's considerate to the point where he'd intentionally lose to younger kids at the rink in fake playful competitions." "He probably had a strong desire to perform in a way that would make Stephane happy, because he's really grateful to him." I had an idea!
I know New Year resolutions aren't a thing everywhere, but because the New Year for a lot of places just started I thought it might be cool.
What is one resolution that each of them keep, and one that they drop?
You know, I honestly can't remember if I've done something like this before. I'm also not the most adept at searching Tumblr archives, much less lots of behind the scene stuff, so if there was a way for me to figure that out I just don't know about it.
This also gets a little tricky since I know Chinese New Year is more prominent in both Koreas, and I definitely know very little about it other than small bits and pieces I've seen on blogs, fanfics, and Tik Tok. Basically next to no knowledge. As such, this is mostly going to focus on New Year customs I'm familiar with, because I don't feel comfortable talking about Chinese New Year due to my lack of knowledge.
Also this is going to be long, so be prepared.
CW: light mentions of the Korean War and the separation, alcoholism, issues with weight loss, a swear word or two that is censored
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kimchiburger: America introduced this concept to SK fairly early on after they began to build a friendship, and SK found it kind of amusing but also kind of a cool idea. Amusing mostly because, since he's lived so long, he knows it's mostly just going to be the same thing every year and most of these resolutions don't actually get followed through with, but cool as in it kind of is like setting up goals for oneself and sort of makes people try to better themselves.
America obviously makes one for getting into better shape or lose weight, which usually just doesn't keep for long because his diet is very weird and his expectations are extremely too high or too low. Like he under or overestimates how much work it will take or how much he will actually lose, much less what is actually healthy for his body type. SK has to remind him that at least he tried and it will take time, though he will love him even if he does gain weight.
As far as the one he keeps, America made one about trying to be less ignorant of other's customs. He cringes at every memory where he unknowingly and/or accidentally did something rude towards others purely surrounding customs, as well as constantly wonder if being belligerent and his ignorance caused unneeded tension between him and others when they could have potentially become friends. Thus, he makes it his goal to learn as much about other cultures as he can, even those within his own country, no matter if they are minorities or majorities. SK helps him with this a lot when it comes to Korean culture and pointing out the differences between cultures, such as eating etiquettes between Japan, South Korea, and China. SK would also invite the Philippines over to help out with pointing out sub groups in each country and how similar and different certain customs are across multiple countries.
SK tried making new year resolutions when he first heard about them from America, and he always makes the same one every year nearing the end of the 1980s, no matter if it is kept, even if only with marginal results, or drops catastrophically: Have a better relationship with NK. He knows he has very little control over it, considering politics, but in an ideal world where it was just he and his brother influencing their relationship, he would do anything to start mending it. They were bonded together and had each other's backs through thick and thin for centuries if not millennia, only for it be shredded to bits in the span of half a century. There was a time for a few decades where he truly despised NK, just because the wounds kept reopening and the resulting emotional rollercoaster was extremely chaotic, but his anger and feelings of betrayal have been tempered enough where regret and sadness have slowly started to form with some logical reasoning behind it. He's also starting to realize that the longer they are separated and at odds with each other, the less likely reunification will be possible, not only from practical and logistical standpoints like economy, military, and what not, but even from a cultural perspective where he's beginning to see that their own languages are slowly starting to split and certain cultural norms don't hold up as well between them. SK actually was terrified slightly when one day he and NK were in an argument and he was having a hard time understanding him.
Rusnk: From what I understand and have researched briefly, I believe New Years is a bigger deal in Russia than Christmas is, considering Christmas came back after the Soviet Union fell.
Russia loves New Year's. Not necessarily for the idea of "new year, new me" that is common in America where it's a clean slate, but just because a new year means a chance to try again, to learn from the previous year and do better. The idea of making a resolution is still a fairly newer concept introduced, but he likes the idea of them. One in particular that he made that he kept was try to find the good, beauty, or happiness in even the littlest of things. He's lived so long with bitter cold and such a dark history, often by his own hand too, that he's forgotten that not everything in the world is a cold, cruel place or is meant to break him. Even if it is only in a few things or even one thing for an entire year, he finds it as an accomplishment. He's recently started to see snow as more than just brutal winter and has started to see the beauty snow fall can be and the happy times winter can bring, like children making forts or snowball fights, gathering around warmth for celebrations and family time, the way silence doesn't have to be deafening or oppressive and that it can bring peace of mind. It helps that NK likes to indulge in these kinds of things on occasion, and often times will compose poetry with Russia as a means to help organize thoughts and see the better aspects of things.
One that he definitely drops is trying to cut back on his liquor intake, not necessarily due to liking liquor that much, but mostly cause it is so hard to do and political matters and emotional trauma don't make it any easier. He tries, at least around NK, to not drink that much mostly because the other tries to drink with him and it is an absolute disaster when the Korean does. He's also noticing the effects the amount of liquor he normally drinks is starting to have on his body, despite being an immortal. Probably died of cirrhosis of the liver a few times before he knew what it was in his time as a nation. He's realizing he has an addiction of sorts, but doesn't have the knowledge, constant support (NK can't always be by his side 24/7 and he lives alone majority of the time), and massive amounts of will power to either consistently drink less or kick it entirely. He still makes this resolution each year because he is learning from the previous year of what has worked and not and is getting better each time.
NK is far more inclined to Chinese New Year, but indulges in the Western New Year once in a while, mostly because Russia loves it so much. He's very much a pessimistic pragmatic when it comes to resolutions, since he believes people mostly do them as a front and don't actually mean to follow through with them, and that a new year is just "new year, same sh!t". He also doesn't care for them cause they are a Western tradition, but did some mostly to humor Russia.
One he did keep was just doing more creative things, like practicing his instruments or writing or drawing, mostly because he's realized he hasn't had time as of late to do any of them for several years and missed them to an extent. Thankfully, part of Russia's resolutions helped to keep his, since he and Russia write poetry together when Russia is struggling to see the good in things on a particularly bad day. He also likes to play his violin with Russia when the other has his own out. They actually work quite well together once they get through the rusty phase.
One he actually thought he was going to keep turned out to be the one he dropped, which was just trying to say one nice thing to people, whether daily or just whenever he actually saw any other nations. He figured out quickly that his attitude and temper make that really difficult for himself, and when they aren't a factor he botches it and will accidentally insult someone or stumble over his words because his social skills are near zero when not in a professional setting.
Commieburger: America loves making resolutions, but is bad at keeping them unless he has help, while NK is the pessimistic pragmatic that sees right through the sugarcoating and calls bullsh!t on them. The only reason America got NK to made a resolution at all was through compromise and a deal. America broached the subject with the idea of a shared resolution between them, that way both of them work at it together and progress will be made in their relationship. NK mulled it over for a bit, but gave in when he thought about how this would benefit them in the long run.
Their two resolutions were to be able to read each other better so they were more likely to be on the same page more often, which they did end up keeping, and the other was lessening petty arguments, which they debate over if it technically was kept or not.
A lot of their miscommunication, after some discussion, mostly stems from either not understanding intentions, word choice, or just a lack of accurately reading the other. Like, America often thinks NK is in a foul mood when really he's either just deep in thought about something or he's actually neutral (his resting facial expression doesn't help). NK had a hard time figuring out if America was actually boasting or was trying to hide his insecurities or nervousness with the hero complex. The resolution was open-ended on how they would achieve it, but it allowed both of them to generate ways that would hopefully work. NK was prone to doing round-about ideas, such as playing chess to analyze ticks and expressions of the other to get a general idea of certain behaviors or ticks he sees occurring in other situations, since he knows he sucks at directly communicating when it comes to opening up or just with emotions in general. America is more direct and will just ask on occasion, at least giving NK a heads-up that he's trying to ask about more minor stuff so as to not make the other too uncomfortable. Usually he does this while treating NK to food or drinks he made that he knows the other won't turn his nose up at, since NK is more agreeable when there is food involved. It actually worked better than anticipated when America realize he was no longer walking on egg shells with second guessing if NK was in a good mood or meant any of the things he says, especially with verbal ticks or slight expression changes or physical ticks. NK, in turn, became more aware of when America was trying to put on a show and became better at understanding the sources of these acts while being able to temper the other's fears or nerves.
Now, the petty arguments. America makes the point that what people would call "petty arguments" tend to be more debates between them, and, since major arguments are now only happening once in a blue moon or under very specific circumstances, shouldn't count as petty arguments and that they did keep that resolution, too. NK still sees them as arguing, considering they both get pretty riled up when defending themselves, rather than civil debates. He also believes, due to have been around the block a few times as far as age goes and has experienced far more in terms of nationhood in comparison to America, that he knows the difference between light arguments and civil debate and is very steadfast at keeping that stance, thus this was a flop. Ironically, this topic in of itself results in one of those petty arguments/debates between them that will still be talked about years later.

Synopsis: (Y/n) and Pro Hero Dynamight have an intense rivaly, but when she loses her memories and he’s the only person she remembers will their relationship change?
Word Count: 8k
🧡Bakugo🧡
Tumblr media
Being a villain was never easy. Especially with your overprotective co-workers. You’d been a member of the League of Villain’s ever since you heard about them through the kidnapping of a UA student. Though none of them knew your motivations, and although your past was murky, they couldn’t deny you had one hell of a quirk.
That’s why after you turned 18 Shigaraki and Kurogiri decided you’d best fit to take over in the unlikely event of their demise. Shadowed and hidden, your face became a beacon of darkness to the world of underground criminals. Whilst to the newly appointed and fast rising Pro-Hero’s, you were a threat they would prefer to deal with sooner rather than later.
Your quirk was highly dangerous and incredibly rare, your name being flagged up from your birth. Your quirks name? ‘Pause’. What makes this quirk dangerous in particular, is the matter in which you use it. Pause allows you to, well, pause everything and anything. From gigantic things like the universe or planets, to the tiniest things like people and atoms. Of course like with most quirks, yours has drawbacks. The bigger the thing you pause the more drained you become. During one of your first League missions when the group was unaware of your drawbacks, they had you attempt to pause multiple police stations at once, which resulted in your collapse, Shigaraki and Dabi becoming overbearingly protective, and a week of bed rest.
No one had more run ins with you than Pro-Hero Dynamight. Seemingly every time you attempted something, the up and coming Pro was never far behind.
Before long the public of Japan became very aware of your building rivalry, the extent of the back and forth even reaching international recognition. Neither you, nor Bakugo seemed to care. It helped fuel his rise to the number 2 spot, and spread the word about you and your organisation’s beliefs.
You hated to admit it, but you grew fond of the hotheaded blonde. The way his fiery eyes would gleam like the smirk across his lips when you settled into a battle stance. Not quite figured out how to counteract your quirk, Katsuki’s only option was to try and capture you before you could use it. He had watched you intently to learn the little signs in your body language to gauge on average when you activated the power. Yet, despite his thought-out surprise attacks, the hero could never quite get the jump on you.
Failing to contain you every time, but successfully ruining 8/10 ploys you were actively in the field for.
You’d build up an enemies relationship through many hardships. The worst of most being when his best friend and co-worker Red Riot was injured in the capture of your best friend and co-worker Dabi. The pair of you met that night on the rooftop of your very first encounter, duking it out til the sun rose and you scattered, continuing your life of crime in the shadows as he lived his in the spotlight. Bloodied and bruised, the wreckage catching attention of news channels and helicopters fussing about by dawn.
Dynamight had publicly stated on many occasions how: “Timeslip is nothing more than a pest I will exterminate. The same goes to anyone who follows her life of Hero defiance and unjust endangerment of the public.” You scoffed when you saw the subtitled news report. There’s not a clear photo of my face yet you think you’re winning, Dynamight? All the public had was hastily draw sketches of your likeness, the constant black surrounding you hid your identity and features from view when operating a mission.
Save for a few Pro-Hero’s, no one had actually seen you without your mask.
Which is why Bakugo knew something was wrong when he got a call from one of his hero’s interns at his quickly advancing agency.
“M-Mr Dynamight..?” The hesitant voice speaking into his ear was nothing knew. Not exactly known for being warm and fuzzy, most were at least nervous when tasked with speaking with him. Responding with a grunt, he heard the boy on the other end gulp. “There’s a situation.” Halting his hands shuffling the paperwork scattered across his home desk, moving to take the phone from between his shoulder and cheek as the intern continued. “Firecracker and Tearst are in battle with a member of the League of Villains.” Gaining more confidence, the boy on the other end’s voice turned firm, even through a screen he could feel the intimidating aura of the Pro Hero.
Rising to his feet, Katsuki’s fingertips rested on the wood of the desk, the back of his knees shoving his desk chair away from his muscular form. “Which, member?” Gruff voice low and deadly, sent a chill through the intern’s spine.
The boy cleared his throat as Bakugo grew impatient. “I-I believe her name is Timeslip?” There was silence on the other end, the near puddle of an intern hesitantly moving the phone from his ear, seeing Dynamight had hung up on him.
When her name passed his lips, the frustrated boss rushed to change into his costume, hurrying downtown. This was supposed to be his day off, and you were ruining it. He was no idiot, Bakugo knew it was on purpose. And he was thoroughly pissed…
Arriving on scene, there were flashes of lights and loud bangs consistently coming from the previously abandoned building. Without thinking,Dynamight raced inside, using little explosions to propel his body up the flights of stairs, to his estimate of the fights location. Which was, of course, correct.
His fiery red glare bounced from your form, tired and panting with your attire ripped and blood dripping from your (s/c) skin in multiple places, to the three low level Pro’s he’d hired for his agency, equally as worn out but not as injured. The male noticed your jaw tighten and fists clenched as his Pro, Stalactite, moved to launch another attack. She can’t possibly think she can block that. In your current state, dodging the incoming blow would be near impossible, especially with the limited room from the debris resulting from previous strategies. “C’mon, Timeslip! Give up already! There’s no way you’re winning this!” Neither side had noticed Dynamight yet, giving Bakugo the perfect opportunity to finally take you out.
Instead, however, you crossed your arms in front of your head, bracing for the impact. It never came, cautiously peering one eye open, your eyes widened to see Katsuki holding the guy’s wrist, grip crushing as the Hero whimpered from his hold.
“Just what do you think you’re doing?” His tone was deadly, even with his back to you, the intensity of his presence had his murderous glare flashing in your mind.
“M-Mr Dynamight! Sir we-we were apprehending the villain..” Cowering from the intimidation of his boss, the male hero gestured to you with a shaky hand.
Bakugo didn’t even bother to glance over his shoulder at you, throwing the guy back with a little more force than intended. “We are heroes! We are pro’s! Timeslip was to be captured, not killed!” The three Pro’s that were previously headstrong against you now lowered their heads in shame, and you were frozen in confusion. “Go! Get out of my sight you damn extras!” Jumping at the loud yells of the Pro, the heroes beneath him bolted, rushing out as fast as they could.
He turned to look at you but before he could take a step your mind clicked back into gear.
“This has been fun!” Hissing at a pain in your ribs, you, much like Katsuki’s heroes, sprinted out, trying to stay hidden and taking back alleys.
You were certain he hadn’t followed you, but much to your luck in the haste of checking for an angry blonde chasing you, you failed to spot the figure in front of you. Falling on your ass with a surprised gasp, a dark chuckle resounded in the emptiness of the street. Before you grasped what was happening, you felt something sharp enter your neck, your hand flying to the spot where the needle broke your skin.
Without even getting a good look at the guy, he was gone.
Groaning, you rose to your feet, legs wobbling and unsteady. You reached a hand out to sturdy yourself against the dingy brick wall of the nearest building, failing to make contact your body dropped to the concrete ground, vision hazy as you desperately called for help.
Until you were lying unconscious and injured.
When you finally awoke again your eyes refused to adjust to the blinding light above you. Confused and scared you went to block the brightness with your hand, only to hear a metal clang and feel something around your wrist stopping you.
Completely in shock, your brain took a minute to register you were handcuffed too.. a hospital bed?
“Oh good. You’re awake.” A man walked into the room, dressed in scrubs with an unpleasant expression. “Normally we don’t treat villains in this hospital. Don’t see why you’re so special.” He mumbled under his breath, checking your IV and the monitor you were hooked up to. Villain? What? Where am I? A sudden realisation hit you, hyperventilating as you desperately tried to recall your name.
The nurse noticed your panic, raising an eyebrow in suspicion. “Who am I!?” Shouting through ragged breaths, you tugged futility against the handcuffs, your eyes wide with a look of genuine fear. “W-where am I?” Tears welled up in your (e/c) eyes, hair dishevelled and legs flailing in an unsuccessful attempt to rid yourself of the chains holding you down. “Let me go! Let me go!” Staring at you with their mouth agape, the nurse hurriedly stumbled our of the room, a bunch of people in Doctors coats barging in a few second later.
As well as a frowning blonde.
“Calm down, please!” One Doctor held your shoulders down, two others holding each of your legs to the springy mattress whilst the smartly dressed man eyed them with his jaw clenched, bright vermillion eyes squinting in anger. “We’ll need to sedate you if you don’t calm down.” Freezing on the spot, your (e/c) eyes widened, tears still slipping as you looked at the head Doctor, hands still harshly pushing on your shoulders.
Closing your mouth, you nodded quickly. “I don’t know what’s going on…” Due to all your shouting, the sentence came out hoarse and quiet, weaker than you would’ve liked.
Hesitant, the doctors backed off, the out of place male stalking forward. “What’s your name?” Leaning down to stare at you with an unreadable expression, the sleeves of his dress shirt were rolled passed his elbows, forearms flexing as he tucked his hands into his pockets.
Swallowing the lump that had formed in your throat, you opened your mouth to speak, brows furrowing. “…I.. don’t know…” The man’s frown deepened, blazing blood red eyes scrutinising your face, searching for any hint of a lie.
“Well? Dynamight.. Sir? Can you tell if she’s lying?” Even after one of the Doctors spoke, your eyes were held in an intense gaze with the tanned male.
He stood back up straight, the few buttons he left undone showing a peek of his defined collarbone, grunting as his eyes turned to the window. “It doesn’t seem like she is. But it’s hard to tell with a villain.” The last word was spat through clenched teeth.
“W-wait! Dynamight?” Previously, a doctor addressed the man as that, the name causing a faint headache to engulf your brain, sounding vaguely on the edge of familiarity. All eyes were now on you, unsettling atmosphere engulfing you in an awkward silence. “This is gonna sound stupid but is your name… K-Kasuti?” Unsure of your own train of thought, the name was dragged out on your tongue, trying to make sense of the letters and sounds in your head.
Dynamight’s scoff was what brought you out of the storm raging in your brain. “Katsuki.” Something clicked almost instantly.
“Bakugo!” Taken aback, his brows furrowed even further, mouth parted slightly and eyes widening the tiniest bit. You grinned widely, remembering something you had no idea you’d even forgotten in the first place.
“Mr. Bakugo? It is possible she has amnesia. We don’t know what she was injected with, for all we’re aware this could be the result of someone’s quirk.” Speaking cautiously toward the hero, Bakugo’s eyes were still on you, his features returned to the resentful position they seemed to sit so comfortably in. “Let’s continue this discussion outside, shall we?” The doctor moved to lead the male out, but the blonde jerked his shoulder away from the touch, muttering before stomping away on his own.
You were left alone in your hospital room, the doctors and nurses going back to their jobs as soon as he left.
Katsuki paced the waiting room, conflicting thoughts and emotions overwhelming him. “Sir I’m aware she’s a villain, b-but things like this have happened before.” Chief medical officer Dr Joon Hwang spoke to the temperamental pro with a slight shake in his voice.
“She’s a villain. She’s good at lying.” Bakugo tried to convince the Doctor, but if he was being honest he didn’t know what to believe himself. You were always more of a proud, stubborn villain, and less of a manipulative, dishonest one. He wasn’t sure if you’d ever even actually lied to him. If so, you were extremely good at it, and appeared to lack a tell.
Sighing in frustration, he took a hand through his messy locks, the material of his shirt taught against his muscles. “What do you suggest we do, Sir? We’ve kept a close eye on her vitals and we are able to release her…” Doctor Hwang paused, anxious less than downplaying how nervous he was about the next thing he had to say. “But we can’t do that, without someone to take her. If she truly does have no memory, she’s a danger to herself and vulnerable.” Fidgeting with his hands, the Doctor seemed to gain more confidence as he spoke. However the up and coming hero on the receiving end pinched the bridge of his nose, thinking very carefully about his next move.
“Excuse me, Doctor Hwang?” An intern made their way to the Joon, getting the attention of her superior and Dynamight. “The Police are wondering what’s happening with Timeslip. They said they can take her away now if she’s stable?” Katsuki’s head snapped toward the officers chatting by a vending machine, growling under his breath.
“It’s up to Mr. Bakugo, he has superiority here.”
Gritting his teeth, the Pro Hero let out a long exhale. I already know I’m gonna fucking regret this. “I’ll take her.” Doctor Hwang grinned, eyes thankful. “There’s no way she’ll last in jail with this, supposed ‘amnesia’.” The tanned male tried to explain his reasoning. “Besides, I’m better than those damn extra’s anyway.” He tore his stare from the police officers to stare at the floor where his shoes were scuffing, shoving his hands back in his pockets, chin stuck out in a pout. He tried to make it seem like the only reason he was doing this was to keep a close eye on you, but deep down he knew otherwise.
“Great, I’ll get started on the paperwork.”
“Oh Sir, shouldn’t someone answer any questions the girl has?” Bakugo and Joon exchanged looks before the blonde dragged his feet along the floor, grumbling as he walked into your room.
He was prepared to tell you everything, except one crucial detail.
By the time the personal driver pulled up to Katsuki Bakugo’s house, you were even more confused than before. The house was elegant, two stories and secluded, forestry hiding the building that faced out onto a beautiful lake cliffside. It was a modern design, large windows allowing plenty of light in. The house looked very sturdy, though not in a traditional Japanese style, the wooden material used to make it showed hints of the Pro Hero’s nod to his roots.
“Wow…” You were admiring the view so intently you failed to pick up on Bakugo coming out to greet you— in his own way.
He cleared his throat, a startled gasp leaving your lips as you spun around, almost tripping over your own feet. “‘Mon. Don’t got all day.” Though not exactly looking forward to living with his apparent amnesiac enemy, the blonde wasn’t totally heartless, having one of his interns buy you some clothes so you weren’t stuck in either a hospital gown on the rags of your villain costume you were brought in wearing.
Katsuki beat you to your suitcase, lifting it with ease. He was dressed in more casual clothing, compared to the professional attire he wore to the hospital. A loose dark orange hoodie coupled with light grey jogging bottoms concealed most of his built form, aside for the split second his hoodie rode up when shutting the boot of the car, giving your wandering eyes a peek at his defined v-line and abs. Looking away quickly so he couldn’t see the blush dusting your cheeks, you went to speak as you followed him inside. “Thank you for letting me stay here.” He waved you off with a shrug, kicking his shoes off at the door, you copying and trying to slide on the smooth grey painted wooden floors in just your white socks.
The house was even better on the inside. Light poured into every crevice of the home, pristine white and grey furniture accentuating the spotless open living room. There was a short hallway just as you entered, with only a single door to your left. The hallway’s end opened out into a joint living room and kitchen. The floor was raised at the far left corner, a glass dining table set with four chairs and an empty vase filling the space. To your immediate left there was a kitchen, white tile walls to go with the white marble countertops, a sleek black fridge whirring beside the hall entrance. The counters were a dark grey to match the cupboards, an electric stove and oven pressed against the wall, a window above with a perfect view of the trees. The counters connected to the oven, which conjoined to the island, cool metal stools with cushioned white seats facing the fridge and the sink, with a dishwasher installed underneath. The ceilings were high, large tinted windows completely lining the wall opposite the hallway, straight facing as you enter. There way a spiral staircase to your immediate right, opposite the kitchen with a sleek black railing. The living room was also to the right, a real wood burning fireplace in the centre with a sleek black frame that had pictures and little ornaments placed on it with care. There was a television mounted to the wall, slanted down toward the large cushioned leather couch that looked to sit at lest six, little handles in either side to recline it. A fluffy black rug opposed the white sofa, a glass coffee table with a remote and Dynamight coasters decorating it, a smile finding it’s way to your face. As you wandered farther into the spectacular home you realised that one of the windows was a door, stairs leading down into a spacious backyard complete with a large pool that even had a built in fire-pit. Your eyes sparkled when they saw the jacuzzi, all fitting perfectly into dark grey decking.
“This is incredible! Bakugo your home is beautiful!” The male didn’t respond, just watching you breathlessly take in every inch of his home. He hadn’t even shown you all of it but it failed to occur to him that the life of a villain wasn’t filled with much luxury.
The Pro Hero beckoned you as he carried your suitcase up the staircase, you scrambling to trail behind his as your bright (e/c) eyes tried to drink in every beautiful part of the house.
The upstairs kept much of the same colour scheme, except rather than the medium grey toned wood, the flooring was carpeted, but essentially still the same colour. There was a large upstairs, most likely the same size as the downstairs but sectioned off into rooms, a quaint balcony overlooking the pool, high enough that you could see between most of the treetops. Another glass table was sitting there, round with two chairs.
“Your room.” Bakugo’s gruff voice brought you back to reality, holding open the door he’d already moved your suitcase inside. The room was the first one after you came up the staircase, light grey door seemingly made of wood. It was actually decently sized. You had a divan double bed against the back wall already made with a dark grey quilt and pillows. On the right side there was a night stand, with a reading lamp and digital clock. On the left side there was another door, the en suite. The flooring was the same as downstairs, with a soft light grey rug at the bottom of the bed. Behind the door was a wardrobe and dressed, both black metal with light grey accents. Across from them there was a desk and a bookshelf, stacked full of paper and hardback’s. There was a large window from beside the desk to the end of the wall, blackout blinds half rolled down. The white walls looked barren, and the room looked quite plain, but it was only a guest room.
He had laid your suitcase down at the foot of your bed, leaning against the doorframe with his ever present frown.
“This is amazing. Thanks Bakugo!” You smiled gleefully, hopping over to the grumpy blonde who looked at you with annoyance.
He stepped further out into the hall, and you peeked your head out to watch him. “Bathroom—” he pointed to the room beside yours. “‘Nother bedroom.” He clicked his tongue, gesturing to the room beside the bathroom. “My room. You do not go in my room for any reason.” He moved to stand in front of the door diagonal the other guest bedroom, voice stern. You nodded in compliance, not wishing to break any of his rules that might leave you out on your ass. Or worse.
Thinking back to the little hall and that single door, you parted your lips to ask the Pro what was in there but he’d already disappeared into his room. You closed your mouth and quietly moved to unpack your suitcase.
Still in disbelief that he’d went through the trouble of buying you clothes, you hummed as you folded and hung up the contents of the suitcase. In that moment you were wearing black skinny jeans and a dark orange cropped shirt with a baggy black zipper.
After finishing that you picked out a book called ‘The Subway’ and snuggled up with the luxurious silk pillows and let your body mould into the soft plush mattress. Sighing in content you discarded your zipper and got to reading.
Hours must’ve passed because by the time you hear a loud knock at your door it was dark out. Standing up you opened the door to see Katsuki, still in his hoodie and joggers. “Want food?” He huffed out, eyes trained behind your figure.
Getting so lost in your book had you forgetting how hungry you were. “Sure!” Bakugo didn’t say another word, turning and stomping down the stairs.
The blonde hero still wasn’t entirely sure that you actually did have amnesia, convinced you were trying to pull one over on him. He hadn’t quite figured out your motive, I mean, you were a villain. There were many reasons you could infiltrate his home. Get the inside scoop on one of mission? Figure out what he knows about you and the league? Plan to take him out while he sleeps? Many possibilities ranging from escape to mass murder ran through Bakugo’s head, the poor boy frowning so hard it’d give him wrinkles. You were sitting on one of the stools at the island, eyes watching the flickering fire emit a glow that overpowered the dim lighting. Turning back to the Pro, he was dishing out what looked to be Chicken Katsu Curry, and it smelled delicious.
Wordlessly sliding the bowl over to you with chopsticks, he moved to sit on the couch, unsure of what to do however you stayed where you were. The blonde placed his bowl down, grabbing the remote and giving you a side glance with a raised eyebrow. “Tch. Why you sittin’ over there, dumbass?” In spite of the name calling you hesitantly moved to sit on the couch, leaving enough room between the temperamental hero and you to fit another person.
Bakugo flipped through the channels, trying his best to ignore your fidgeting. But then again he is the hothead Pro Dynamight… “What’s your fucking issue, damn extra!?” Snapping at you with a burning fury you weren’t expecting caused you to jump back, eyes widened and lips parted. “Sit still.” He turned the volume down on his voice, but even his muttering had a harsh tone.
When he turned his attention back to the TV you tried a bit of the food, holding back a groan of delight as your tastebuds exploded with the mouthwatering flavour. Though you think Katsuki may still have caught your expression of utter delight by the way the corner of his mouth turned up in a smirk. The blonde eventually settled on a movie. It was halfway through when he clicked it on, but the fact it was a horror meant you were able to catch up on it pretty easily.
Focusing more on the food than anything, you quickly finished and settled further into the cushioned back with a content feeling of fullness. The film was still going but you found yourself unable to get into it. Whether that was because the plot was a string of nonsense and gore or because sitting beside a near enough stranger was still pretty awkward. Either way you were finding your mind wandering to hazy memories of blurry faces and distorted voices. Before you could stop yourself you were free falling in the familiar unknown.
“Hey!” Bakugo’s hand was on your shoulder, a jolt shooting through you as his voice extended a rope. “Fuck sake, what’s the matter with you?” Concern was evident even though he spat what would often be perceived as a rude sentence through angry tones. His eyes squinted, a shadowed scowl crossing his sharp features.
You were panting, breath erratic as you tried to process his words, but all you could focus on was the warmth of his skin against your shoulder. “S-sorry. I’m just confused.” His expression softened with the slightest hint of sympathy. The warm glow of the fire painted his skin with sunset hues, making him appear less intimidating and maybe a bit… pretty?
“I answered all your questions. What else do you want to know?” Taking his hand back to his side, he sat manspread on the couch, you cross legged beside him.
Thinking back to what he told you at the hospital, it didn’t quite add up, and he seemed less than approachable with certain prying questions. “Can you just, tell me everything. Everything you know about me again? Please?” You shuffled to face him, Bakugo barely turning his head enough to glance at you from the side of his eye.
He sighed deeply, but started to talk anyway. “Your name is (Y/n) (L/n), you are 22 years old. You and I had met already on multiple occasions. You were injured and running away from a fight, I chased after you and when I found you…” He glanced at you before quickly turning his gaze to the ground, arms folded across his chest. “You were lying unconscious in a back alley.” A gut feeling told you he was leaving something out. Something important. Sensing your doubt, he bit the inside of his cheek. “I didn’t want to tell you this in case you did a runner, but now you’re here and can’t get passed my security systems I might as well.” Dread filled you with the way he worded the last sentence. What could possibly make me want to run from him? “You’re the head of a dangerous organisation. The League of Villains. Your alias was Timeslip and your quirk was highly dangerous.” Far too stunned to coherently respond to the bomb he just dropped, you kept your lips sealed, mind reeling after the unexpected reveal. “That’s why I don’t trust you. For all I know you could remember everything and are just acting out some shitty plan.”
Bits and pieces of what had happened began to make sense. When he mentioned the previous encounters you figured he’d saved you a couple times, but turns out he was fighting against you. The battle where you were injured and ran off from? You must’ve been fighting him. Which also explains why and how he followed you, finding you down in a random back alley. “W-wait… I’m the head of the League of Villains? What even is that!?” Having little to know memory of yourself or anyone else proved to be taking it’s toll on your mental capacity.
Noticing this the blonde shifted slightly to rest his elbows on his thighs, pointed chin in the palm of his hand. “I’ll explain more tomorrow. For now just go take a shower or somethin’ and rest.” Disappointed, you slowly made your way upstairs to do as suggested, knowing you wouldn’t be able to find sleep with a restless mind and forgotten past looming over you.
Heating up the water in the shower, you stripped and stepped in, closing the glass door as steam built up. The pressure was perfect, and you felt your muscles relax, your slowly recovering body gasping out in pleasure, the warm water cascading down your (s/c) skin. You moved to grab the soap, only seeing a mens body-wash, likely being that Katsuki only stocked up on his own amenities. Nonetheless you lathered up with the caramel scented liquid. As with the soap, Bakugo only had mens shampoo and conditioner, which would have to do until you could get some of your own. Mango wasn’t your favourite scent, you were more a fan of strawberry, but threading the bubbles through your wet strands of hair, nostrils invaded with the sweet smell, an unusual calm washed over you.
After finishing up you turned off the water and stepped out, reaching for the black towel hung up on the radiator and wrapping it around your figure.
Looking at yourself in the mirror was surreal. A total stranger staring back at you. You had no idea why you had that one little mark on your skin, or why that one bit of hair didn’t like to behave. You felt unwelcome in your own skin, chewing on your lip as you brushed out the tugs of your (h/c) hair.
After giving your face a quick wash and brushing your teeth you headed out, digging in your drawer and pulling out black pyjama shorts and a red hoodie. You tied up your wet hair, and sunk into the bed, the soft quilt feeling like heaven against your freshly cleaned legs. Lying there for hours, eyes glued to the ceiling, as you suspected, sleep was constantly just out of reach.
Frustrated, you tore the quilt from your body, bare feet padding against the floor, silenced by the rug then padding again as you silently tried to slip out of your room. To your recollection Bakugo hadn’t even come upstairs, the angry blonde boy not seeming like the kind to hush just for the benefit of you. You thought maybe some fresh air would help, so you walked on your tip-toes passed Katsuki’s room—just in case—and out onto the balcony. Content washed over you, breeze filtering through the leaves, crisp air sucked into your lungs refreshing you from within. Contently sighing you sat down in one the chairs, pulling your knees to your chest and using them as a chin rest.
This is so peaceful. I don’t remember ever feeling like this before. Despite all the confusion in my mind I don’t feel like my life was good before this. Maybe whatever caused my amnesia was the best thing to happen to me? No. I can’t convince myself of that. Not knowing is driving me insane. Sure Bakugo gave me the summary, but it isn’t helping the void, the blackhole of forgotten backstory plaguing my every waking moment. God, I was a villain? Why? Bakugo seems sincere, why’d I want to be his enemy? Why would I want to hurt people? Nothing makes sense, it’s all too much…
You hadn’t even felt the tears begin to fall until they mingled with the bitter cold of the night, nipping at your cheeks which were rosy from the air.
One moment alone was all it took for you to fall apart, breaking down in silent sobs, hugging yourself in the perfect scenery of a place you didn’t belong. Burying your head in your legs, biting your lips in a futile attempt to keep your cries to yourself. It was stupid, nobody was around, nobody would be able to hear you. Revelling in that fact you wept, loudly. Screaming in frustration, confusion and desperation. Your hands made their way to your hair, tugging roughly to try and relieve some of your emotions.
“Hey!” The loudest gasp got chocked on your sobs. Jumping to your feet and back smacked against the railing. Bakugo was glaring at you with half lidded eyes, an agitated look adorning his face, the moonlight highlighting his poignant jawline. “Fuck sake what is your problem!?” Tears still poured out your glassy eyes, flinching at the volume of his yell.
Face downturned to the ground, you sucked your bottom lip between your teeth again. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.” In such a short sentence your voice managed to waver and break multiple times. Genuine surprise took over Katsuki’s face, not expecting that. He was so used to you biting back with a witty response, it completely slipped his mind that you were essentially a different person. Is this what she’s like without all her trauma? The boy didn’t know much about your history, barely learning of your name and little to no record of even that.
But something must’ve made you the way you were, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to find out. “No you didn’t, I was up anyway.” Much to your shock, Bakugo moved to your side, leaning against the railing, staring out at the woods. “Are you okay?” Asked so quietly you weren’t sure if it was real, but one quick glance at the awkward red-eyed boy told you it definitely was.
“I don’t know. I don’t know anything. I feel like a visitor in my own mind, a guest in my own body! None-none of this feels right!!” You worked yourself into a frenzy, but before you could pull more hair out of your scalp Bakugo’s large hands enveloped your own. “Wh-what? What’re you…” you couldn’t even finish the sentence, your face pushed into his strong chest as muscular arms wrapped securely around you.
Unexpected to say the least, you were frozen for all of two seconds before you gripped his biceps as if they were the only thing holding you from floating away, muffling your breakdown into his strong physique, clueless to the fact he was shirtless. “You’re so stupid.” You scoffed, a breathy chuckle breaking through your sniffles. “It’s someone’s quirk. I’ve been working to track the guy down. His name is In Memoriam, the affects of his quirk only last 72 hours after being applied. Tomorrow (Y/n), just wait a few more hours…” Falling to your knees the concerned Hero followed you down, crying into your palms at the news.
“Thank you! Thank you so much!” You launched your body forward, tears of happiness spilling uncontrollably as your arms latched around his neck. The Pro sat on his heels, hands on your hips to keep you both steady. Katsuki couldn’t explain it, the way his hands fit so comfortably in the grove of your waist, or the way your body pressed against his shirtless top half sent a dizzying flush to his cheeks. Most of all the way your happiness felt bittersweet, knowing he was going to lose this side of you and you’d return to the rivalry you’d held for so long. There was one other side effect of the lowly gangsters quirk, one he kept from you to grant you this moment of happiness.
“It’s my job. I’m gonna be the number one Pro-Hero after all.” You went to move back from the hug, unsuccessfully as Bakugo’s hands moved so his arms kept you pulled against him. Vaguely surprised but not opposed to the hold, you sank further into his frame, feeling safe. Neither of you wished to break the silence, but your feet were numb and your legs were heading the same way. As well as that Katsuki wasn’t sweating, something he felt uncomfortable with due to his quirk relying on that sweat. “We should head inside. It’s freezing out here.” You nodded in agreement, Bakugo being able to smell his bodywash and shampoo wafting off of you, suppressed a groan, rising to his feet and helping you up.
“Hey, Bakugo?” Getting a hum in response, you fiddled with your hands under the intense stare of his red gaze. “Do you think I could—”
“Yes.” Reading your mind, he took your hand and led you into his room.
It wasn’t that different from yours. Bigger, yes, but it had a cosier feel, framed pictures and shelves full of his stuff. He had a black rug, like yours, but his bed was a king size, made up with black bedding and little orange pillows. There was also an electric drum kit, something that surprised you at first but made sense given his temper. Drumming was a healthy way to release his pent up frustrations. You both climbed into the bed, the Pro surprisingly let you take your preferred side. Remembering the way he reacted to your fidgeting at dinner, you guessed it best to not squirm around too much. Again, it seemed as if the boy could read your mind, pulling you in, back against his chest.
“Go to sleep dumbass.” He’s charming in his own special way. A smile settled on your face, finally able to drift to sleep in the strong hold of your personal saviour with the comforting knowledge that your unknown history will soon return, the hazy memories of disembodied voices and nameless faces will become clear and fill in the blanks of a life that you already lived.
Waking up, your eyes fluttered open to see ruby broken by blonde. “Good morning.” The morning rasp in his voice caused pink to paint your cheeks, spiky hair unintentionally messy and way too attractive to be bedhead.
“Morning.” A new memory was present at the forefront of your mind, the fact that at any moment today you could get the answers you needed. “That was the best night sleep I’ve ever had.” Both of you sitting up, you stretched your arms above your head, a small noise of satisfaction slipping at the feeling.
Katsuki chuckled, a sound that filled your body with warmth. “You only remember sleeping in that damn hospital bed.” You smiled, standing up.
“True but it wasn’t the bed that made it enjoyable.” He raised his eyebrows at the bold wink you shot him, smirking as he himself stood. (E/c) eyes widened, his chiselled abs and broad chest glistening with the sunlight streaming through his window. He had many different scars and marks, and you had to resist the urge to trace your fingers along them, to commit every indentation of his body to memory. Not only that, when he leaned over to touch his toes you could see ever muscle in his back and shoulders flex, the guttural groan coming from him causing heat to rise to your face, butterflies swarming your stomach.
Rising back up he caught you checking him out, grinning with a lip bite that would make a succubus blush.
You coughed, turning away to hide the growing embarrassment. “So what’s the plan today, Dynamight?” Calling him by his hero name reminded him of your true identity, the sarcastic tone of your voice anytime you’d find your mission interrupted by the determined Pro. Bakugo couldn’t help feel a little guilty, a voice in the back of his head telling him this wasn’t right, that he was taking advantage of your unfortunate situation. Of course you didn’t perceive it that way. There must’ve been a reason you only remembered him. Him and those addictive scarlet eyes.
“Well um,” shrugging off his concerns, he moved toward his drawers, pulling out a white tank top and tugging it over his head. “Figured I’ve got the day off, was just gonna chill. Haven’t been in the pool since forever.” He smirked, seeing you with your fresh face and leaning against the wall, nosying at his drum kit. “Breakfast?” Beaming brightly, you nodded, fingertips gently grazing his drumstick, the carved wood looking beat.
Sitting on the counter, the house was surprisingly warm for first thing in the morning. Bakugo wouldn’t let you anywhere near the cooking utensils, but you still managed to take a bite every now and then when his back was turned. Apparently you were not as sneaky as you thought, the blonde catching you with a mouthful.
“Dumbass.” Your hand flew to cover your mouth, giggling as you chewed. His teasing nickname was actually appealing to you.
Devouring the delicious meal over shared laughs and terrible TV, the pair of you had a great morning, which was about to get even better.
“Bakugo~” Whining was met with an eye roll. “I don’t have a swimsuit!” The tall Pro chuckled, throwing you a swoon worthy smirk as the water droplets on his chest evaporated due to his sheer body heat. “It’s not fair!” Pulling on the towel you had wrapped around you, you could barely gasp before your body tumbled into the water, just in your bra and pair of shorts.
Resurfacing with a glare, Katsuki couldn’t hold in his amusement, head thrown back in laughter. “Oh you are so dead!” Before he could respond you tackled him into the water, wrestling under the ripples and splashes of your flailing bodies.
Eventually, the Pro Hero managed to grab hold of your wrists, holding them behind your back, his other arm around your waist. “Now that, was unfair.” His hot breath was against your ear, his lips barely grazing your skin, but sending shivers right through you.
Wriggling free of his hold, you turned to face him with a devious smile, Bakugo looking with suspicion written plain as day on face. “Considering your quirk is fire related you seem awful comfortable in the water.” Sinking down til everything from your shoulders down was under the water, you blatantly let your eyes roam over his impressive form, highlighted by the water and rays from the shining sun.
“Gotta get out of your comfort zone Princess. Who knows where a villain’ll attack.” He smirked, swimming closer to you, he had you backing up so your were pressed against the pool wall, his arms caging you in. “Also, swimming works up a sweat. That way things can get…” Bakugo brought his head down to look into your eyes, noses barely a centimetre apart, his hot breath tingling your lips. “Steamy.” Body heating and face flushing at the suggestive tone of his teasing words, you wanted so badly to press your lips against his, to tug on his hair and feel his skin against yours.
Yet, when you went to retort with a sexy statement of your own, a loud ringing sounded from within the home, the Pro-Hero immediately becoming stoic, muscles tensing as he practically jumped away from you. Without muttering a word Katsuki hopped out the pool, flexing every part of his body, carelessly stalking through his living room, whatever water didn’t evaporate from his body heat dripping onto the wooden floors. All you could do was watch with wide, surprised eyes, stumbling to get out of the water yourself.
Bakugo was talking from that little room in the hallway, door now open. It was clearly an office, and you were just about able to catch the very end snippets of his conversations. “Yeah… Okay. I understand!… Fuck sake I’ll be there!” He slammed the desk phone down, rubbing his hands over his face, groaning in frustration.
Warily stepping into the room, Bakugo hadn’t yet noticed your presence. You crossed your arms over your torso, feeling cold now that the air brushed against your damp skin. “Everything okay?” Crimson eyes snapped up. Before responding he ushered you out of the room, his hand a ghost on the small of your back before moving to lock the door.
“I have to go. There’s a time sensitive matter.” Your heart sunk. His heart sunk. You wanted him to be here when your memories returned. He wanted to be there in that devastating moment. “But there’s one thing I wanna do first…” Repeating the position in the pool his arms rested against the wall, your frame against the door, looking up at him with big (e/c) eyes.
“Oh, yeah? What’s that?” Voice lowered to a seductive whisper, you bit your lip when he took your chin between his thumb and forefinger. His eyes darkened, low groan catching in his throat.
Katsuki began to lower his lips to yours, when the loud ringing resounded yet again, echoing around you, the force of the noise shoving the pair of you apart. You avoided eye contact, blushing as red as his eyes. He groaned, taking a hand through his hair.
Calloused hands cupped your face, guiding your gaze back to him. “I’ll be back before your memories return. I promise.” You believed him. Raising your smaller hands to grip his you nodded, words lost, the feeling of his breath against your lips still scorching you. Bakugo contemplated just kissing you right there and then, the way your eyes bore into him with such belief and hope reminded him why he was a hero. Not like this. Moving one large hand to envelope the back of your head, he brought you forward, slightly, soft lips pressing a firm, far too quick kiss to your forehead. When he went to move back your arms swung round his waist, trying to cling to this feeling as long as possible. “I know.. I know.” His husky whisper sent a pleasant shiver through your body, finally releasing him from your stronghold.
Your smile was bittersweet as you watched him rush into his office to change, unintentionally slamming the door behind him. “I sure hope you keep your promises Katsuki Bakugo.”
You waited. And waited. And waited. Not only were you worried Bakugo wouldn’t make it back in time, but now that the sun was setting you were worrying the effects of that villain’s memory loss quirk weren’t wearing off. Resorting to pacing back and forth along the kitchen, you’d already practically ate the blonde out of house and home. Nerves coursed through every vein in your body, your brain running a mile a minute with overwhelming thoughts, consuming your being.
Then the door slammed.
Hurried footsteps bounded heavily against the floor, your body jumping, relief overflowing when the Pro-Hero came into view.
“B-Bakugo..” Your lip quivered, voice soft.
“Did I make it?” He was covered in dried blood, his hero costume ripped and dirty.
Unable to contain yourself, you nodded, running toward him and grabbing his face, pressing your lips against his, tears falling down your cheeks. Of course the red-eyed male welcomed the kiss, arms around your waist. He pulled you closer, fingers digging into your hips as if you’d disappear any moment, but were still gentle, as if you were glass and could break at any moment. Lips moving in sync, you pushed your bodies as close as possible, moulding into one another. Bakugo ran his tongue along your bottom lip, the silent gasp that escaped giving him the opportunity to pull that lip in between his teeth, biting down softly. Both of you pulled away, barely. Your noses still rubbing against each other as you tried to catch your breath. You hadn’t even realised your hands made their way to his messy locks.
He held your face in his big hands, rubbing the tears away with his thumbs, touch so featherlight you could hardly believe it came from the infamously brash Dynamight. “God, ’m so glad I made it…” For the first time you could really see his eyes, not hidden behind a mask or the shadow of his hair. The blood red bright in the dim house, the little hints of white that swirled into the vermillion circles. He was perfect.
“Me—” Before you could finish a blinding pain took over, a migraine times a thousand.
Bakugo knew what was happening immediately, holding you close as the searing pain caused your legs to buckle, dropping to the floor in his lap, mouth open wide but every sound to describe your anguish was trapped in your chest. Your mind was flashing with memories, the blurry faces sharpening, muffled voices creating sentences and words. What you didn’t realise, was that as your previous life was returned to you, the new memories you made with Katsuki were being erased.
After what was only a split second in reality, you came too.
Something was dripping on your head, and a pair of muscled arms were wrapped tightly around your body. “Wh-what? Where am I?” Eyes darting all around before landing on the Pro-Hero, tear tracks staining his tanned cheeks.
Jumping from his hold you stood up in your typical fighting stance. “What the fuck, Dynamight!?” Whilst you were geared up for your typical fight, he just sat there, hands clenching the material of his trousers, tears brimming his crimson eyes but not falling, a shadow cast over his face, which was pointed to the ground. “Oi, Katsuki! Get a grip Blondie.” Lowering your fists, your brows furrowed, concerned at the easily angered Pro’s eerie silence.
“Just like that, you’re back to normal.” Confused, head spinning with a dull pain, you didn’t have time for whatever new game he was trying to play. Walking forward you bent down on one knee to look him in the eyes.
“I don’t know what the fucks going on. But I don’t like seeing you like this. Get your bearings, and when your feeling like yourself again, we’ll talk.” Your voice was firm and serious, just the way Katsuki remembered. Timeslip was back, her attitude and natural attractiveness more powerful than before. “Especially because I can taste and smell your caramel scent, allll over me.” Scolding yourself for not recognising the delicious scent earlier, you noticed the slightest hint of a chuckle.
“That’ll be an interesting conversation.” Katsuki smirked up at you, his usual cocky self finally resurfacing. You loved it. This is why you hadn’t tried to attack the Pro before. There was just something so… intoxicating about him.
“Call me.” Winking at him, before, just like usual, you were gone, vanishing before his eyes, leaving the blonde aching for your skin against his once again.
“Oh believe me, I will.” He licked his lips, standing up and staring at his door with a typical smirk.

BnHA Chapter 302: As the Todoroki Turns
Previously on BnHA:
Tumblr media
Today on BnHA: We have a very fun chapter in which (1) Shouto grows up lonely on account of his parents being worried that his siblings will literally try to kill him, (2) Natsu and Fuyu grow up neglected on account of not being special and/or self-destructive enough to attract attention, (3) we get to revisit all of that exciting spousal abuse from chapter 39, and (4) Touya burns to death right on cue, pretty much exactly like we expected it to happen. Thankfully since this is a shounen manga, Horikoshi finds some hope in all this misery as the Todoroki family rallies together, with Shouto getting his long-overdue credit for being a perfect sweet angel who put up with all of this shit for sixteen years and somehow came out of it strong and kind and empathetic and determined. Anyway, so that flashback was a barrel of laughs. But now that it’s over, we can put all of that angst behind us, and move on to... well I guess, probably, more angst. Look, we’re short on variety at the moment. Bear with it.
ouch. we knew this was coming, but still
Tumblr media
A+ parenting move there. “ho boy, our eldest just tried to murder our youngest, now what? hmm how about we isolate our youngest from all human contact”
though in their defense, we probably shouldn’t have expected this rabidly strength-obsessed fire man and his wife who was groomed since childhood to obey her family’s whims to have any idea of how to raise stable, well-adjusted offspring
SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS
Tumblr media
this is a perfect example of Enji’s tragically self-revolving viewpoint right here. just because being a hero is your entire world doesn’t mean you can just excuse yourself from anything outside of that and act like it’s out of your control. “alas, all I care about is hero stuff and my son can’t be a hero, we are doomed to inhabit two different worlds” no you jackass, it’s called having more than one hobby?? figuring out how to spend some time with your son that doesn’t involve training?? the same exact thing you were telling him to do last week, while ignoring that you’ve never done that yourself in your life??
that said, yet again we have that complexity though because it’s obvious that Enji at least on some level is aware of his own flaws, even though he seems unwilling or unable to confront them. honestly, from what we’ve seen so far, Enji’s obsession with surpassing All Might might be more accurately called an addiction. he literally can’t let go of it even though he’s fully aware of how it’s slowly destroying his life. and so in the same way that a lifelong smoker or alcoholic might tell their child to stay away from cigarettes and booze, Enji tells Touya not to follow down the same path as him, even though he himself doesn’t know how to leave that path. so yes, it’s hypocritical as fuck, but there’s also an element of helplessness there as well because Enji literally doesn’t know how not to be like this
though all the same he sure could stand to put in more than just a token effort. but it is what it is, and we already know how much he’ll come to regret it
and meanwhile Baby Shouto has frozen his sleep bubble with his quirk lmao. so I guess his quirk did come in early. that’s a recipe for chaos right there
once again Shouto is ruining every single dramatic panel in this flashback
Tumblr media
this was so dark and intense... and then I spotted the lil bubs in the corner. Horikoshi please control yourself
“some hero you are, running away” and then all of a sudden, “FIVE YEARS LATER” lol what. OKAY THEN
Tumblr media
(ETA: love the confirmation that eight-year-old Natsu comes from the Iida school of puberty and is basically a fully grown man, and meanwhile Touya comes from the hobbit school of puberty and has been perpetually eight for the past five years.)
“HEY BIG BRO WANNA COME RECREATE AN ICONIC FLASHBACK SCENE WITH US. WE’VE GOT THE SOCCER BALL RIGHT HERE, BUT HURRY UP OR WE’LL BE TOO LATE FOR SHOUTO TO WALK ON BY AND STOP TO LOOK”
lol and that’s literally the next three panels. but Horikoshi did add this extra bit after Endeavor starts to drag Shouto away
Tumblr media
seriously Enji what the hell did you expect was going to happen here. “Touya went nuts and tried to kill his little brother out of jealousy, so let’s make it clearer than ever that Shouto is the important child and all the other children are just rejects. this will definitely not make the problem 100x worse, and will surely lead to Touya giving up and living a happy life, having been emotionally abandoned by the person he admired more than anyone.” good for you pal you figured it all out. no need for that plan b, “we all just go to therapy”
anyway so he’s telling Shouto he can’t play because he needs more endurance training. and meanwhile Touya’s patented Todoroki Drama Genes are going through puberty as well
Tumblr media
definitely the face of a happy, emotionally stable child who’s not still plotting to murder his younger brother in his sleep
“WELL ACTUALLY MAKESTE” lol I stand corrected??
Tumblr media
apparently during the five year interim Touya actually stopped blaming Shouto and realized Enji was the one at fault. good for him! a bit inconsistent, given what we know happens later, but I assume we’ll get to that in good time
anyway. “yeah man I agree that dad sucks, but it’s the middle of the night and I’m only eight and you’ve been monologuing for the past two hours bro”
LMAO
Tumblr media
the manga is making my jokes for me, only better. fine then
looks like someone’s still miffed about that disagreement he had with his baby sister back when she was like four
Tumblr media
“Fuyu doesn’t get properly riled up like I want her to so ranting to her is annoying.” okay but having been in Fuyu’s shoes, it really is just a different way of coping, and I can guarantee she’s not as fine with the whole situation as Touya might think. but making your peace with something is often a decision that’s made for emotional self-preservation reasons. and I sure as hell don’t fault her for trying to shut out a situation that she had no control over, and trying to make the best of it, and scrape together as normal a childhood as she could manage
and now in Touya’s defense as well, that is of course easier said than done, and I’m sure if there was a “push this button and instantly get over all of the trauma in your life” switch readily available for Touya then he would have pushed it too. unfortunately it’s not always that simple
so now Rei is pleading with Touya not to go train up on his little emo hill again, but it doesn’t seem like much has changed since he was eight
Tumblr media
I don’t think he gives two figs about being a hero; he just wants his father to look at him again with pride. fucking hell, stop doing this to me you damn Todorokis
guh, they keep telling him the same thing over and over again
Tumblr media
even if we hadn’t already known he was gonna go melt his jawbone off soon, I wouldn’t have expected a line like that to go over well
yep. fuck
Tumblr media
that Todoroki puberty angst, though. nothing else quite like it
“you have a part in this too, Mom” ooooooh man
okay but look, he’s not entirely wrong. like, I’m not saying any of this is Rei’s fault at all! she’s in an impossible situation where she’s afraid to stand up to Enji (who by this point has shown that he’s willing to physically attack her if things get too heated, which is terrifying), and doesn’t really have anywhere to turn for support. her parents aren’t helping much if at all, and Japan in general is just a terrible country to be in when you’re in a domestic abuse situation. everyone’s expected to put on a brave face and deal with their problems all on their own in private. Rei is basically completely isolated at this point, and she doesn’t know what else to do, and so she’s just trying to keep the situation as stable as possible for the kids
but on the other hand, “for the kids” is also where that argument starts to break down a bit, because at this point Shouto is also being physically abused by his father, and the other kids are continuing to be neglected (emotionally if not physically), as they have been for years. so the situation really isn’t stable at all for them. and as a kid, what you end up learning in that type of situation is that you can’t rely on either parent. not the abusive one, certainly, but also not the other one who can’t protect you from any of it. even if they love you and they’re trying, they’re just as helpless as you. Rei is struggling to deal with all of this with one hand tied behind her back, and I get it, and I’m not blaming her at all. but all the same, particularly given that she’s (understandably) putting almost all her focus on Shouto, the end result is that the other kids have basically been left to fend for themselves
so yeah! a shitty situation all around. and one of those cases where it’s not really anyone’s fault (aside from Enji’s), but I can understand the resentment Touya is feeling all the same. and I’m so glad Horikoshi is acknowledging this, because it’s something I probably would have been too uncomfortable to bring up otherwise. as it is it’s still an incredibly heavy subject, and one that I probably have too many personal feelings about
anyway, so once again the whole “we’ll try talking to him and then just shrug our shoulders when it doesn’t work” parenting strategy doesn’t really pan out for the Todoroki fam
Tumblr media
sob this boy is Anakin Skywalkering before our very eyes. all that’s missing is AFO to come and start whispering in his ear. any minute now...
“anyway so then he got taller and his fire changed from red to blue”
Tumblr media
guess we’re getting pretty close then huh. this is the part of the flashback that I really don’t want to see, but also unfortunately the part that I’m most curious about :/
oh for fuck’s --
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN IGNORING HIM FOR FIVE YEARS DIDN’T ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM” sob. back to the drawing board I guess
I thought he got taller, why is he still only like a third of Enji’s height here
Tumblr media
oh fuck me these are armor-piercing feels. this is the heavy artillery right here
Tumblr media
ENJI I’M BEGGING YOU PLEASE STOP AND THINK FOR ONE MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE BEFORE DOING SOMETHING YOU’LL REGRET FOR THE REST OF ALL TIME. your child just told you that he still thinks beating All Might is the only thing you care about, and that he believes his existence is a mistake unless he finds some way of doing that for you. please stop for a moment to contemplate that and choose your next words with care and grace and oh who the hell am I kidding
-- OR WE COULD JUST BLAME REI
Tumblr media
go on and blame everyone but yourself then!! that’s a great solution!! jesus christ man I know this is Endeavor at his literal worst but still this is fucking hard to watch
POOR BABY SHOUTO IS YELLING AT HIS DAD NOT TO HIT HIS MOMMY THIS LITTLE BRAVE BOY NEEDS SO MANY HUGS OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
AND MEANWHILE THE OTHERS ARE HUDDLED IN THE NEXT ROOM TRYING NOT TO CRY AH FUCK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ETA: Fuyu covering Natsu’s ears cuts RIGHT TO THE CORE OF ME. Horikoshi if you’re really not gonna get these kids some therapy then at least consider giving your readers some. what is this.)
you know it’s bad when you’re starting to think the part where the kid burns to death might actually be a less traumatic thing to cut to right now
holy shit, actual Rei thoughts
Tumblr media
“I was the one who ultimately made that choice” well there we go, wonder if that’ll put that whole argument to bed at last. I doubt it, but you never know. actually who am I kidding it’s not gonna settle jack shit lol
oh thank god, they decided it was getting too intense and cut away back to the present to narrate this next (final?) part
Tumblr media
get ready to cue up that Alicia Keys. THIS BOY IS ON FIREEEEEEE
Tumblr media
yeah I think that’s one thing we can mostly all agree on. neither of them had any clue what the fuck they were doing pretty much at any point. though I will say that the hypocrisy of him being all “WHY DIDN’T YOU STOP HIM” followed by him IMMEDIATELY DOING THE EXACT SAME THING is a bit rich
(ETA: and he still has this problem, doesn’t he? he froze up when Ending snatched Natsuo, and again when Dabi was attacking Shouto. he’s so afraid of doing the wrong thing that he ends up not doing anything, which of course is exactly what led to Touya’s death. damn Enji I guess you’ve still got some additional character development to unlock.)
and of course neither of them could possibly have known how badly it was going to turn out. like, the consequences here were WAY disproportionate even for the shittiest of parenting. no one expects “I didn’t know how to talk to my son” to snowball into “my son burned to death and then somehow came back as a villain and murdered thirty people”
ohhhhhhhh fuck me
Tumblr media
LITERALLY INCINERATED THE ENTIRE HILLSIDE. fuck. and I am so not ready for the scene of Enji finding the remains of his jawbone afterwards. at least we were spared anything super-graphic (for now at least)
I feel like the timeline here is off, btw?? wasn’t Touya’s death supposed to happen after Rei got hospitalized? this might be the first actual retcon of the entire flashback. although I think it makes more sense this way tbh
Tumblr media
I do appreciate that ten years later Enji is finally reflecting on the fact that if he’d just given up his stupid obsession he could have stopped his family from crumbling apart. that probably sounds sarcastic as fuck, but it’s not. there are countless jerks out there who would have still managed to find a way to blame literally everyone and everything under the sun except for themselves. at least he finally figured out how to take responsibility, even if it came too late to stop his son from dying and being radicalized into a villain terrorist organization
and speaking of, it seems to me we’re missing a third and final part to this little tale of woe, and one which only Touya himself will be able to shed any light on. so we’ll see how that goes
oh man seeing the other kids blaming themselves even though none of it was their fault hits hard af. Rei wasn’t kidding when she said they’d been bearing that burden of guilt far longer than Enji
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SHOUTO I SWEAR TO GOD IF THE NEXT PANEL IS YOU APOLOGIZING FOR BEING BORN, I WILL... WELL I’LL BE VERY SAD, I GUESS. SO DON’T DO IT
oh good he’s just being quiet. good. it absolutely is not your fault lil bean. it’s not theirs either, but feeling guilty about things that aren’t your fault is a time-honored shounen tradition
Tumblr media
goddammit I braced myself for the angsty Shouto panel a page too early. gotta do it all over again now lol. okay here goes
;_;
Tumblr media
well well well would you look at that
Tumblr media
imagine that. talking things out with your child before they make a rash decision. looks like the Todorokis’ parenting skills are finally leveling up
OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
holy shit. this is the most quintessential moment of father/son Todoroki bonding in the entire series. for me it even tops the “nice scar” scene lol. Enji sobbing at the fact that he still has a chance to set things right. and Shouto offering his hand in what is actually the most mature and selfless gesture I’ve ever seen, and being all “we’ll stop him together” to his dad who he hates, but also doesn’t really entirely hate anymore. and all of that is incredibly moving... BUT ALSO HE STILL REFUSES TO MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH HIM AND HE WOULD LIKE HIM TO STOP BEING SO FUCKING DRAMATIC ALREADY IF YOU DON’T MIND. “WHEN YOU’RE DONE CRYING...” fkjldsk
OH MY FUCKING LORD
Tumblr media
(ETA: wouldn’t be a Todoroki drama fest if there wasn’t somebody listening in on the whole thing in secret just around the corner lmao.)
“you think we should have waited somewhere else?” “yeah, probably.” “are you feeling a lot of secondhand embarrassment too?” “god, you have no idea.” STFU HAWKS IT’S NOT EMBARASSING TO BE MOVED TO TEARS BY YOUR FAMILY ALL COMING TOGETHER IN YOUR DARKEST HOUR TO GIVE YOU HOPE THAT YOU PROBABLY DON’T DESERVE BUT ARE NONETHELESS INDESCRIBABLY GRATEFUL FOR
and anyway you chose these guys as your found family, bucko. too late to back out now. next time go get yourself adopted by the Iidas then
AND MEANWHILE NO WORD ON THE WHOLE “HOW DID A THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD SURVIVE A FIRE THAT COVERED HIS BODY WITH HORRIFIC SCARS AND MELTED HIS JAW OFF, AND HOW DID HE SOMEHOW THEN MANAGE TO GO INTO HIDING FOR TEN WHOLE YEARS, AND WHAT HAPPENED IN THAT INTERIM TO CHANGE HIS GOAL FROM ‘SURPASS ALL MIGHT TO IMPRESS MY DAD’ TO ‘KILL ALL HEROES TO MAKE MY DAD SUFFER’.” as if we don’t know the answer to that. but still, would it kill Horikoshi to just confirm AFO’s involvement in all of this already. at this point it’s basically just a formality
so here’s hoping next week we’ll either get that, or more Hawks action, or (DARE I EVEN SUGGEST, I’M AFRAID TO JINX IT) finally cut back to Bakugou and Deku and All Might omg. either way I’m hyped

Ramble on the Limitations of Looking for KnY Interpretation based on Japanese Mythology
One thing I notice a lot in the Japanese side of KnY fandom theories is a lot of deep dives into religious and mythological reasons behind Gotouge's creative choices. It is super interesting stuff, and Gotouge borrows enough and does homage to enough that there is a clearly a solid knowledge base there. While I find historical details handy for interpreting the characters, ultimately, I find that the canon of demons and Breaths can be interpreted in a vacuum without relying too heavily on the uncanny coincidences lurking in deep dives. This isn't going to be a well-supported essay, this is going to be a ramble that may include a bunch of interesting nuggets. (And then she went on to ramble for 3249 unedited words...)
First things first: I'm a nerd. I like to say I broke the weeb scale a long time ago, but I'm not exactly a university professor or anything like that. That said, I do read a lot of stuff from experts who have jumped on the KnY trends to talk about how elements in KnY are taken from, say, the sword making traditions of the Okuizumo region that results in black swords or simply making comparisons to famous swords, or local legends of supernatural encounters that resulted in split rocks, or comparing specific oni with and the heroes who slayed them or at least comparing elements of specific characters to other famous oni legends, or that Hinokami Kagura is based on a specific Shinto legend and has 12 forms based on existing Kagura traditions, etc. And I love reading this stuff, because I wouldn't had learned about some of it without my interest in KnY leading me to those articles, or as I read it I cheer because they're making references to things I already (as a nerd) really enjoy and therefore it strokes my inner echo chamber bias, or I nod along and think, "oh, yes, why of course, that makes total sense, Hinokami Kagura must be based on the dance Amenouzume performed to enticed the Sun Goddess Amaterasu out of the cave, how silly to think it could be based on anything else" but I then also take a step back to think, "...but it also doesn't have to be." For as many similarities as there to existing legends, it feels to me that Gotouge made it a point not to make specific reference to any particular mythological or religious elements. As an example, Gotouge considered titles with reference to a Shinto fire god named "Kagutsuchi" but never made actual reference to any fire god (or sun god) by name in the finalized direction canon took. Granted, a lot of fan theorists have read into that, going so far as to say because Nezuko's fire powers she represents Kagutsuchi, Yoriichi represents Amaterasu, etc., but while I find the idea of borrowed elements makes for highly interested interpretation of canon, one-to-one comparisons really don't work for this series. By not invoking a name like Kagutsuchi in the title or otherwise, Gotouge succeeded in not being boxed in by the canon of any particular deity. (Granted, "canon" for mythology can vary significantly by whatever historical writings you're looking at, with standard interpretations going through many big changes throughout the centuries. It can be as loose as it is limiting, depending on what sort of historical/mythological/religious figure you're talking about.) I feel there's more evidence of this avoidance by never invoking Amaterasu as a deity, despite the emphasis on the power of the sun in slaying demons. Even looking back and trying to figure out who Akeno placed so much faith, it was only called a "god of sunlight" as opposed to a "sun god." It's as though KnY works with a generic approach to religion. Even if the use of Buddhist element, the Nenbutsu prayer is called such, and Himejima's repeated phrases are legit Buddhist practice, but there is a huge variety of Buddhist sects and practices and theologies, and throughout history, many of them didn't get along. Going back to Akeno and wondering if she might had been Buddhist, I went so far as to suspect she was influenced by Nichirin sect philosophy based on its emphasis on the "Nichi" (sun) representing Japan and incorporating Shinto gods into its philosophy, and for its likely influence in the Kanto area in Akeno's time period, and for its encouragement for the salvation of women and therefore popularity among women. I felt pretty satisfied that it was all lining up, but also, none of this is necessary for a quality interpretation of canon. If Gotouge wanted to say specifically what informed her religious conviction, then it would had been said. But that's not what was important, was it? What was important, and therefore focused on, was Akeno's feelings toward her son and wishes for his sake.
While KnY's worldbuilding feels richer with all the clear religious influence, the details are not actually important. If anything, I feel like Gotouge dove into the heart of the elements of, say, Shinto mythology, and played those core elements up. It's different, yet still familiar, to take sun-associated elements and used them in a way that serves the story without being boxed into existing traditions. The sun is clearly important, and once you start looking for it, you find subtle recurring references to it. Like, Akeno's name? The "Ake" is one way of writing "red," and there are all sorts of uses of other ways of writing "red" throughout the series, in everything from the sand used for making Nichirin blades to the way that Haganezuka calls Tanjiro an auspicious "red" child with a very rarely used kanji. Our commoner main characters, though, just use regular old ways of saying "red" when referencing Tanjiro's appearance without thinking deeply into it, like there's something special right in front of them but they don't recognize it. Similar to how something as special as Sun Breathing was hidden right in front of them in Hinokami Kagura, with a name so generic and simple that it's entirely unsurprising that the Taisho era Kamado family would interpret it as "fire god." The very lack of limiting real-life details is what allows Gotouge to sprinkle these deep touches around, cover them up with branches and leaves, and then sit back and wait for readers to stroll through and invitingly pleasant looking field and then trip and fall down a rabbit hole. This is also what I think gives Gotouge the freedom and malleability to work with the sun in a way that serves the story, especially in ways that tie it to fire. While I don't think there's strong ties for this is general Japanese culture, the way canon is written implies a close tie between fire and the sun as being a very closely related element, hence the influence on the Kamado family, Tanjiro's appearance, his suitability for Sun Breathing based on a history of tending fire for careful charcoal burning, and Tanjiro and Nezuko capability as demons to overcome the sun. Here is where I go into a bit of a tangent about the purification element. This, again, is not strictly tied to any particular Shinto canon (and Shinto does place heavy emphasis on purification), but instead is an example of Gotouge getting to the underlying heart of a lot of common religious elements. Fire is associated with spiritual purification in everything from Buddhism to Catholicism, it's very easy to apply Nezuko's fire abilities as something which burns away something evil (demon poison) so as to purify something good (human flesh, or even other physical substances). Maybe lesser known, but very deeply entrenched in Japanese culture, is the purification element of charcoal. While it may be known around the world for soaking up undesirable elements and therefore used in everything from fish tank filters to treating food poisoning, in Japan, there's a bit of a spiritual side to it as well. For something so closely tied to the way of life for citizens throughout hundreds of years of history for everything from cooking to heating the home, it's unsurprising that quality charcoal would receive as much emphasis as good water and rice. Japanese charcoal is especially known for not producing undesirable smoke or odor, making it appropriate for use in a lot of settings. Charcoal farmers have often not just been that; they've been caretakers of the forest. Keeping the right trees, at the right sizes (both for use as charcoal and for how you pack it together when making charcoal), and in the right numbers to ensure you have stock for coming years, requires management of the forest. (Other tangent side note: many of the other names in the Kamado family are references to plants. Sumire both has the "sumi" sound of charcoal and is the word for violet, Kie is in reference to hollyhock, Nezuko is in reference to red beans (and the asanoha pattern of her kimono is in reference to hemp leaf, an
auspicious symbol of strong and quick growth), Takeo is in reference to bamboo (ironically bamboo can be a problematic plant for charcoal farmers, because it may spread too fast and take resources from other trees--stop stealing all the takuan pickles, Takeo!), Hanako is in general reference to flowers, Shigeru is in general reference to (plants) flourishing, and maybe by the time they got to Rokuta they gave up and said "he's our sixth child, let's just call him 'Six-Boy', lolz." BUT I DIGRESS.) That means the Kamado family not only had careful management of fire in the actual days of charcoal production, but of a wide variety of natural resources to ensure the trees were healthy. Natural weather phenomena, clean water, pest control, minerals from rocks getting into the soil, hmm, so many elements to pay attention to. Hmm. These sure sound a lot like other Breaths. And Breaths all stem from Sun Breathing. That means there may be certain elements of Sun Breathing that have been emphasized in each of them, but none of them encompass so many qualities of the natural world. The natural world which Yoriichi saw with such clarity than nature accepted him with open arms, practically, in how well animals took to him. Sun Breathing, while especially using that all-important purification aspect of sunlight which burns evil demons, is like an all encompassing embrace of nature. While being closely tied with fire is hugely important, there's more to it than just flames. While Shinto is very much so closely tied with nature (the extent to which this is emphasized may vary from shrine to shrine, scholar to scholar), what I see in KnY is a clever use of emphasis on spirituality in nature as opposed to emphasis on Shinto mythology. And I think that was a smart move. While stories based more directly on various theologies, mythologies, and religious ideologies often use those building blocks often wind up having very creative takes on them (even and especially with the confines of them), ultimately, the story of KnY is whatever Gotouge wants to do with it, and it does not seem guided by the specific conventions of more specific religious elements. But again, those deeper elements are still everywhere. You know what color Japanese charcoal burns? It's a gorgeous jewel tone red, spanning many of those rare shades of red Gotouge make reference to. And, in wider Japanese culture, red is the color of the sun (as opposed to how other cultures may represent it as yellow or orange or white or so on). (Not as exactly a KnY tangent, just personal: Japanese charcoal is so freaking pretty, I had no idea until I saw it used in the tea ceremony at parts when guests crowd around to enjoy the sight of it as the host prepares it for boiling the water. I can stare and stare and stare, it is so so so so so pretty, but also this element of the ceremony has gotten rarer both as many places have made a more practical switch to electricity, and tea ceremony quality has gotten more rare both due to fewer producers and due to beetle-related damages to the trees used, and I will always state HOW DISAPPOINTED I am that Kanata and Sumihiko are not out there raising charcoal, because charcoal is precious and I'm always so terrified of wasting charcoal in my practices because its so precious, but seeing the amazingly beautiful burn of the charcoal is absolutely one of my favorite elements of the ceremony and this of course gives me an extra soft spot for Kamado Tanjiro BUT I DIGRESS AGAIN, I TOLD you this was going to be a ramble, but SERIOUSLY IT IS SUCH A GORGEOUS RED).
So anyway. My point is, as interesting as incorporating outside elements may be, I don't find them necessary in interpreting KnY's canon. Even if it takes tons of Taisho Secrets to do so, Gotouge presents the details necessary, and that's more than enough to work with. After all, despite all the care taken in historical details in building the setting, KnY takes place in a fictional universe, it can make its own rules when it comes to things that don't actually exist in our universe. Demons, for example, follow a chronology and power system with sources and limits that is unique to a this universe, as tempting as it is due to general cultural familiarity, it does not call for a one-to-one comparison with existing demon legends. Breath as well, as a power system, is very interesting. Again, this is because it has a lot of basis in core concepts of real life physical and spiritual training. It's presented as a method available to anyone who can pick it up, not drawing on a mystical outside power or summoning the actual superhuman elements of nature. Other stories that present their power systems like that are well and fine, but when it comes down to it, this is a story about mere humans doing everything in their limited power to wave swords around and defeat creatures that seem so likely to outpower them. This is a common, relatable basis of stories throughout history, and a lot of analysis I've heard of KnY's success says that it shows how classic this story structure is. Many Japanese demon stories have their origin in epidemics, and some people suggest that the world looks for hope in stories like KnY in times of seemingly insurmountable crises like coronavirus. I think that's an oversimplification of KnY's success, but again, because of Gotouge's use of core cultural elements, it can be applied easily. OKAY BUT ON THAT NOTE we can do some really interesting digging if we want. : D Gotouge does make some highly specific references, included religious ones (granted, not in ways that impact the plot). The example coming to mind is the Seventh Form of Thunder Breathing, the "Flaming Thunder God." In Japanese, this is "Honoikazuchi-no-Kami," the name of a lightning deity who had a very, very brief mention in the Kojiki and who appeared among a handful of other lightning deities named in reference to other aspects/phenomena of lightning, like the sound or the rumble through the ground. Honoikazuchi is not so much the lightning itself, but the fires started by lightning. Stick with me a bit longer, I'm building up to something here. You've probably heard of the twelve animals of the Chinese (poorly translated as) Zodiac, right? Well, the system is way more complex than that, and really, if you want complexity, skip Japan and go dive straight into ancient China. I laugh and cry at myself for having a graduate degree in Chinese studies, the extent of my knowledge is is pitifully small, I know nothing, nothing. Suffice to say, China has its own five element system of water/wood/metal/fire/earth, it's more a philosophical application than a more physicality-based four element system popular in the west (fire/water/air/earth, why hello there, Avatar), with attributes of these elements assigned to every about anything through Chinese culture, from medicine to, you guessed it, the Zodiac animals. Japan saw all this and said "cool, we'll do that too" albeit their sort of mixed and matched a bit and made their own take on it in Onmyodo. An Onmyoji, who keeps track of, like, really any other-worldly matter you might have on your hands as a Heian noble, is someone who is paid to know all this stuff (it was very likely an Onmyoji who told the Ubuyashiki clan, "yeah, you got an evil family member to blame for your curse, squash him"). Yours Truly is not an Onmyoji and therefore will not attempt to go into more detail, save the one that a handful of Japanese theorists in the KnY fandom love to bring up: The Boar is a water sign. This means that, especially in Shinto practice, boars are considered an animal that protects against
fire, hence, a lot of practices to protect against fires were done on days of the Boar, in the month of the Boar, etc. So? So-o-o-o-o-o? You see it? You see it??? Boar = Water, Honoikazuchi = Fire, Inosuke and Zenitsu are basically foils to Tanjiro? Yes, yes, see it, yessss??? Deep dive Kamaboko theory, yes?????? Hahahaha. Naw. It's just a fun coincidence. ^_^ Again, I find these details completely unnecessary, for we are already given so many details in canon to work with on its own, and I think Inosuke and Zenitsu as foils to Tanjiro works entirely well simply based on their personalities, not because of any supernatural elements that require a high level of nerdery to have any hope of appreciating. Besides, once you start reaching too hard for cultural details Gotouge might have used and clinging too tightly to those ideas, there's likely something in canon to make it doubtful. For instance, Inosuke more widely presented as a king of the forest who wears deer and bear hide as well, and the fanbook state that Beast Breath is considered a likely offshoot of Wind Breathing. Even if we rely more strictly on historical detail, there's still the question of, say, what one of the basic Breaths, Thunder Breathing, even was when it was but a thunder inspired sword form not necessarily powered by Breath, you know, back when swords were longer and it would have been harder to make the fast draws katana would later be better suited for. Maybe they called it Thunder because it was practiced by swordsmen who stomped around really hard, and then when they added Breath technique, they figured out "oh dude, we can use our strong legs to go fast"??
Those are the kinds of things I find more fun to play around with in interpreting canon by bringing in little outside details, because as a work of fiction, there are already so many fun details to work with already even when treating it in a vacuum. But, giving Gotouge extensive and subtle use of cultural elements, especially core elements, it sure makes a lot of outside details applicable. Which is all to say, it's all super interesting, and I think the more people realize these things, the deeper they read into it, to an extent more than canon calls for. As much as I like it, and as much as I've enjoyed pulling outside elements in to fanfiction (like Kagutsuchi and lightning god tidbits), ultimately, if Gotouge thought these things were necessary, they'd have been included. Since they are not, I try to stick to canon details and Word of God-touge in answering Asks (lolz, I didn't plan on becoming a meta blog, it just kinda happened). BUT ALSO, JEEZ, I AM SO EXCITED IF PEOPLE TAKE A DEEPER INTEREST IN JAPANESE CULTURE BECAUSE THEY LIKE KIMETSU NO YAIBA, YOU CAN HAVE SO-O-O-O-O-O MUCH FUN PLANNING A TRIP TO JAPAN AROUND KNY THEMES, DO IT DO IT DO IT, GO TO YAGYU AND POSE IN A TANJIRO HAORI AND STICK YOUR SWORD IN A SPLIT ROCK, THE LOCALS THERE LOVE IT, DO IT but also like maybe learn about the tea ceremony and appreciate how beautiful the charcoal is with me k thx bye

Haikyuu!! Fic Recs
I love reading fanfics, and I have so many bookmarked that I want to share. Hope you all enjoy and give these writers all the love. All of these are completed works, and they are a mixture of one shots and multi chaps.
Kagehina
where the night goes by bigspoonnoya (M)
Summary:
When their bond loses the immediate context of volleyball, they're left to consider why it's still so vital and important.
Meeting again, by chance, six years later.
Somewhere to Belong by Esselle (E)
Summary:
Once a year, all the villages that follow the way of the sun offer up one of their own to be taken to the sun god's divine temple. Kageyama Tobio, an orphan and loner, never wanted to be chosen—and until the sun god appeared, no one ever wanted to choose him, either. All Tobio wants is to find a place he fits in. What he actually gets is another story entirely.
by this time next year by reeology (T)
Summary:
"I got offers from two universities," Kageyama announces, pointing at his chest with his thumb. "I'm going to play volleyball at Keio this spring."
"You still have to pass an exam, even if it's an easy one," Takeda-sensei hurries to add, although he is beaming and bursting with pride at his fluffy little crow chick taking off to play volleyball at a university level.
"I'll pass," Kageyama says with the same kind of confidence he uses when he tells Hinata he'll get the toss to him. He looks straight at Hinata, and Hinata jerks and turns red, wondering if maybe Kageyama knew he was daydreaming about something as stupid as the way Kageyama talks to him during a game. But then Kageyama just points at him and says, "You'd better get in, too."
Hinata, stupid, naive, idiot that he is, grins wide and nods and says, "Yeah!"
He doesn't know what he's in for.
Not Alone by seconddaysea (E)
Summary:
"I'll visit you," Hinata says. "So you're not allowed to get lonely, you got it?" He turns so they're facing each other, hands warm against Tobio's back. "I'm already lonely," he replies quietly, and he presses his face against Hinata's heart, squeezing his eyes shut, because if this is a dream he doesn't want to wake up.
maps, from me to you by tothemoon (T)
Summary:
This is a (non-chronological) account of the memories they make out of millimeters.
Iwaoi
we can do better than that by spaceburgers (M)
Summary:
Oikawa and Iwaizumi go on a road trip during the summer after their high school graduation. It doesn't go as expected, but maybe that's not such a bad thing after all.
we shine like diamonds by whiitemists (T)
Summary:
Oikawa is nine when he first hears the word. The boys on the playground whisper it like it's dirty, like the way they daringly mutter the word fuck and then look over their shoulders to check their parents hadn't heard.
"You know Abe-kun from class?" they snicker, hands cupped around their mouths like they're passing along a filthy secret. "I hear his older brother is... gay."
here comes your man by newamsterdam (T)
Summary:
Iwaizumi’s left his cell phone on the bench, and while Suga keeps his gaze away from Iwaizumi the phone lights up with a new message.
Iwa-chan, it reads, Have a good day today! Good luck! <3 <3 <3
Suga chokes. It’s hard to imagine anyone calling the scowling and fierce Doctor Iwaizumi “Iwa-chan.” But marriage probably comes with all sorts of liberties.
Mrs. Iwaizumi must be quite the doting wife, Suga thinks. Delivering hand-made bentos and sending along loving messages.
No one really knows much about the new surgical resident, Doctor Iwaizumi, other than the fact that he's married. Suga's determined to find out more, and make a friend of him in the process.
just hear me out by loveclouds (T)
Summary:
To stimulate Japan's low birthrates and take most of the guesswork out of dating, a beeper system was biologically developed in people's wrists, an audible confirmation to show romantic compatibility.
Iwaizumi's beeper has been going off for Oikawa since they've been kids. Oikawa's has only ever been silent.
 Call Security! by DeathBelle  (T)
Summary:
Oikawa Tooru is attractive, charming, and irresistible.
He thinks so, anyway, until he meets the mall's new security guard.
In which Oikawa has a crush, Iwaizumi has no interest, and a chain of shoplifting incidents brings them together.
Bokuaka
(Don't) Touch Me by DeathBelle (E)
Summary:
Akaashi has always had an aversion to human contact, but earlier in his life it had been bearable. It isn't until his last year of high school that it becomes intolerable. By the time he enters college, any skin contact has the potential to send him spiraling into a breathtaking panic attack.
He reconnects with Bokuto in college, and he seems to be the only person with the ability to calm Akaashi down. He finds himself relying on his old captain more and more, especially when Bokuto deems himself Akaashi's own personal guardian. Despite their connection, he can't touch Bokuto, either; no matter how badly he'd like to.
Upstairs by yoogiboobi (E)
Summary:
Bokuto first sees his neighbour at the supermarket, three days after he's moved into his new place.
[...]
For about a second, a heartbeat, he's met with a pair of dark, piercing eyes, with what is probably eyeliner, looking back at him. It really is just a split second before his hand knocks down three cereal boxes that hit him square in the head, effectively making him break eye contact and drop his groceries to the floor.
In which some of the first things Bokuto learns about his upstairs neighbour are the colour of his eyes and the sound of his moans.
bang! now we're even by Authoress (E)
Summary:
Akaashi only has two rules when it comes to his profession. One, complete the job as swiftly and cleanly as possible. Two, never trust anyone who smells like blood.
Rule three is to shoot Owl Eyes in the face should he ever come across him, but Akaashi never tells anyone about that one.
Crisis Converted  by valiantarmor (E)
Summary:
Akaashi Keiji is just a normal cop with a penchant for getting himself into trouble, when quite suddenly he finds himself with a big promotion and a brand new partner.
But his habit of finding trouble hasn't gone away -- if anything, it's only gotten worse.
cracks in the pavement will lead you home by deusreks (M)
Summary:
Bokuto often thinks about Akaashi, especially when he’s running. It’s like his legs know where they’re supposed to take him. He grows into a habit of running a lot, just to keep that feeling going. Cracks and holes in the pavement aren’t fun to jump over if the final reward isn’t seeing Akaashi’s face.
An alternate universe with a little bit of magic and a lot of growing up.
Ushiten
died in my dreams by MTrash (Makaria) (T)
Summary:
If anyone asked Ushijima how it came to this, he wouldn’t be able to formulate a proper answer.
Ushijima likes his quiet, his order, and his solitude. That is, until a loud, talkative and a little chaotic cyber tech convinces him that that's just plain boring.
while i nodded, nearly napping (suddenly there came a tapping) by pseudoanalytics (T)
Summary:
Of course if there was one thing that could be counted on, it was Ushijima’s blunt, total honesty. “Do you think Tendou is attracted to me?”
Reon froze. “T-Tendou?”
“Yes.”
Tendou was notoriously hard to read, but Reon kind of figured that he wasn’t the type to be anything less than painfully overt with romantic affections.
“I... I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I think if Tendou was attracted to you, he would let you know,” Reon said. “I'd guess he just considers you his best friend.” He hoped his answer would satisfy whatever frenzy the guy had worked himself into so Reon could finally take advantage of his last precious hours of sleep.
But instead, Ushijima visibly deflated in front of him. “Yes. That’s what I thought too,” he said miserably.
Oh, Reon realized. Oh no...
Executive Excursion by DeathBelle (E)
Summary:
Tendou is fun, quirky, and interesting.
Ushijima is none of the above.
It's no surprise that Ushijima is drawn to Tendou's magnetic personality. What's surprising is that Tendou seems to like Ushijima, too.
With a little support from his coworkers, Ushijima decides to take a chance and ask Tendou on a date. The results are better than expected.
fascinating facts about geckos by miracleboysatori (T)

Summary:
“So let me get this straight. You went to the Meiji-Chuo game and saw your old crush and after watching Meiji bring Chuo to a crushing defeat, you realized you were still crushing on him big time?”
Kageyama wishes he could spit in Tsukishima’s drink. “It’s not a crush.”
Tsukishima laughs. “You poor dumb fuck.”
Third Impression by DeathBelle (E) Kuroo x Semi
Summary:
If Semi has a type, Kuroo isn't it.
After their first meeting, Semi concludes that Kuroo is smug, presumptuous, and a little too flirtatious for his own good. Their second encounter doesn't change his mind, and Semi does his best to avoid a third.
Kuroo has other ideas, and Semi finds himself tricked into an impromptu tutoring session with Kuroo himself.
It doesn't go as badly as Semi expects.

Summary:
The modeling world is full of hungry wolves, constantly clambering over the other, snarling and desperate. They fight, and they kill, trampling over anything in their path.
In this case, Akaashi fell in love with the wolves.

- you were nervous
- this was your first fan meet after all,, but you were still nervous
- you were only 19 and had already debuted!!
- that didn’t happen to just anyone!!
- you worked super hard to get to where you are today!! everyone knew that!!
- you sighed as your make-up artist continued to paint your lips a dark red colour
- you honestly didn’t look like yourself, but this was to keep up the whole idol image i guess
- “jinhee, how many people are outside? i’m sure only two people came to see me..” you pouted, resulting in your make-up artist to smack your cheek lightly
- “dOn’t say that you dummy! i’m sure a lot of people came to see you!” she scolded, wiping off the excess makeup on a towel
- “now get out, you’re done”
- “i don’t wanna”
- she raised a newspaper and flexed, ready to beat the fuck out of you if she heard another whisper of self-deprecation from you
- “fine! i’m going!” you grumbled, pouting at oncoming soreness of your feet from your heels
- why did idols have to wear heels anyway?
- okay no, you knew why, but sTill!! they sucked!
- you smiled as you saw the buffet table
- one little snack wouldn’t hurt
- >:)
- “keigo stop fuckign puSHING”
- “im so EXCITED!! i’m meeting THE y/n you SLUTBAG!!” keigo yelled as he shook his companion
- dabi sometimes questioned why he was still friends with keigo
- “i SEE that you asshole”
- keigo took this opportunity to punch dabi in the arm, causing dabi to retaliate, causing kEigo to retaliate, causing dAb-
- okay so
- “i’ve been in love with her ever since she debuted!! and she debuted ALONE!! a whole solo artist!! the talent!! the beauty!! i’m in love!!”
- dabi raised a brow at his friend
- “didn’t you tweet about wanting to ‘put a baby inside of her’?”
- keigo felt his cheeks heat up at the possibility of you seeing his indecent tweets about you
- what if you had seen? what if you think he’s a creep? what if you already hated him??
- keigo felt his anxiety creep onto his shoulders as he continued to overthink, not realizing that they were already next to go in
- ruh roh raggy
- keigo didn’t know anything BUT anxiety
- rip keigo we’ll miss you big daddy :,(
- “please come in, please don’t shout”
- whO was shouting?? nobody was shouting
- keigo wasn’t gonna shout
- as keigo was about to shout, he felt himself be silenced by his partner
- all keigo could feel was betrayal
- “calm down you hot dog, you’re going to TALK to her in person jfc. you can tell her how much you want to father her children then”
- it was almost time and you were STILL at the food table
- you saw a small intern approach you with an uneasy look on her face
- she was for sure about to reprimand you
- “m-ms. y/n,, we have to go now!” she stuttered
- she was sO! cute you just couldn’t say no
- so you decided to just sneak a few bags of chips under your skirt before smiling and quickly following her
- you made your way to the stage, peeking behind the curtains
- you saw a huge crowd of people, mostly males, but one man who sat near the front caught your eye
- he had bright yellow eyes with matching blond hair, even wearing some eyeliner
- the unknown male looked absolutely delectable
- he made you bark a little tbh
- you took a deep breath before you were pushed by your manager on the stage, cheers suddenly reaching your ears as your fans confessed their love for you
- quit shamelessly might you add
- you blushed as you watched the cute blond-haired man cup his hands around his mouth and yell—
- “I LOVE YOU Y/N! IM YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN!” he yelled, gaining the attention of everyone in the room
- soon everyone started to yell that they were your biggest fan and that the blond man could never even compare
- but the man had nothing but a satisfied smirk plastered on his handsome face
- did he enjoy starting riots?
- you sat on the chair, placing your hands on top of the table
- this was a small table ngl
- luckily there was a sheet on the table, hiding your nervously bouncing legs
- just imagine watching a fancam of you bouncing your leg
- people would still thirst for that
- anyway
- “thank you guys for coming! i’m so excited to meet you all!” you started, smiling at the large number of people
- “you guys can ask me questions or some things? i don’t know?” you laughed, feeling slightly awkward
- you didn’t know how to be a person
- “can you do a dance for us!!” a young boy, about the age of 7 yelled, jumping up and down in front of his seat
- “what dance?” you queried, raising your brow in curiosity
- “move by taemin!!” he cheered, immediately dancing
- you laughed at his adorable actions
- you were totally gonna dance for him!
- you got up as the music started to play in the background, moving to the side of the table and sensually moving to the beat while the audience watched intently
- you carefully moved your hips, hitting all the right beats
- this wasn’t any different than dancing in front of the camera people, plus you had to get used to an audience
- it also wasn’t any different from how you had to dance to kpop songs from when you were younger for your family!!
- (no, literally. the amount of times i had to dance to 2NE1’s i am the best, girls generation’s gee, and wonder girls’ nobody. the dances are engraved in my head. 6 year old giri had to dance or else)
- as the song faded out, you held your pose before bowing, smiling at the little boy who continued to hype you up
- “holy fuck.. dabi that was hot” hawks whispered, tightening his grip around his friends sleeve
- “jeez kei, ease up a bit” dabi complained, prying his friends hand off of him
- “oh my god she’s such a great dancer, do you think she’ll like me if i learn how to dance too?” he questioned, grabbing his friend by the front of his shirt, pissing dabi off once more
- “no. not if you don’t stop being a fuckinf weirdo”
- hawks pouted
- dabi grinned
- how cruel
- “does anyone else have a request?”
- “WAP!!” a number of people yelled, resulting in your face heating up
- how would they suggest such a lewd dance!
- especially when there were children here!
- “haha! that doesn’t seem very appropriate!” you laughed it off, trying your best to mask your uncomfortableness
- hopefully this would end soon
- “no! can you dance to gashina please!” a girl yelled, catching your attention
- hm, gashina was actually a very good suggestion
- you could do this! you could be as great as sunmi!
- okay maybe no. sunmi was a god <3
- you did the routine, catching the eyes and the hearts of the audience
- “fuck i think i’m in love dabi” hawks whined, clutching his chest
- he had a lovesick expression plastered on his face
- he was totally whipped for you, no doubt about it
- before you knew it, it was time for the fans to have a minute to speak to you and for them to get their albums signed!
- you had recently debuted with your album, dawn in tokyo
- you had taken inspiration from the time where you had left your hotel at dawn and walked around the streets of tokyo, sitting near a bridge and writing lyrics for some of the songs in the album
- hence the name of the album
- most of your album was written in japan
- hawks felt himself get more excited as he came closer to you, holding tightly to the fabric of his friends jacket, which wouldn’t surely gotten him slapped if you weren’t so near
- before he knew it, he was already next in line, dabi already sitting in front of your figure while holding your soft, delicate looking hand in his large ugly ones
- this made hawks’ chest bubble with jealousy
- >:(
- sure, you had a large fan base, but it still hurt to see people touch you the way he wanted to
- it was now his turn, he walked up the stairs with his wobbly knees, wanting to just sit and be near you
- he knew that you would be able to calm his nerves, or make him spontaneously combust
- “hey! i’m y/n! nice to meet you!” you smiled, out-stretching your hand to him, offering to place your hand in his own
- he swiftly, but gently grasped your hand, before placing it on his cheek, letting you hold the soft chub of his cheek
- no fan had been this brave to do this. it was quite surprising to be honest
- he wasn’t breaking any rules so you decided to fuck it and go with it
- you placed both your hands on his cheeks, slightly squishing them together, causing him to adorably pout
- “dash not nishe” he mumbled, brows furrowing
- you laughed before letting go of his face, bringing your hands back to your side of the table
- “you’re so cute! can i sign your album for you?” you smiled, tilting your head to the side
- hawks just..dieded
- mans said peace out
- your beauty was incomprehensible
- phew, he had to get his shit together! he was trying to impress u! he wanted to be the mc in a wattpad story
- we all wanna be y/n
- anywayss
- “sure dove! u can make it out to keigo, u can put your number in it too ;)” he winked
- KDNDHSK
- DID HE—
- DID HE JUST ASK FOR YOUR NUMBER
- LIKE—
- nobody:
- y/n: i’m not gon do it girl.. i’m just thinking about it
- “ah! sorry cutie! i’m not allowed to share my number :333”
- you tried to laugh as you died inside
- he smiled, before placing a kiss on your fingertips
- “don’t worry dove,i respect that” he winked
- BARK BARK
- “i have some gifts for you!” he announced, placing the huge paper bag on top of the table
- he first pulled out your favourite snack before handing it to you
- how did he get these??
- omg
- then, he brought out a bottle of perfume, and a new song writing notebook!
- this was great!!
- “oh my gosh! keigo! you’re too sweet” you cooed,
- this was a lot
- “i also have something else.. would you wear this flower crown for me and do some fan-service?” he queried
- of course you would!
- you nodded before placing the flower crown on top of your head
- “what do you want me to say?”
- “say.. i’ll be a good dove for hawks. is that okay?” he smirked, tracing small circles into the palm of your hands
- w-wHAT
- was this legal
- your managers were literally ignoring you—
- “o-oh! sure! uhm-“
- god you were going to regret this
- “i-i’ll be a good dove for hawks!” you whimpered, showing off your practiced aegyo
- “ahhh! my heart!” he gasped, dramatically clutching his chest
- “excuse me, we need the next fan to come up” you manager tapped the both of your arms
- you nodded before smiling at hawks and waving goodbye
- you were going to miss him :((
- ig it just wasn’t meant to be
- the night you had gotten home, you decided to go through your gifts
- you were particularly interested in the gift you had gotten from the blond man
- it was really sweet of him to get you a notebook
- the moment you had opened it, you had noticed that something was written on the first page
- ‘xxx-xxx-xxxx call me pretty girl <3’
- he was a bold onealright
- you were contemplating on actually calling him
- he could leak your number!
- well, you could just wait for him to speak
- fuck it
- you dialed the number on your phone and waited as it rang
- “hello?”
- “i-is this keigo?”
- “hey dove, i’m glad you called”
- y/n: i did it :33

The Unknown Journey Continues
Part 1
I know it's been a while... but I've been going down a rabbit hole with @starlight-samurai regarding time loops, Jenova, Minerva, and more fun. So I figured I'd try to put it into one post to get the insanity out of my head. Everything in here is based on things we've found by either going through more obscure Ultimanias, learning more about Dirge of Cerberus and trying to decipher what the hell Jenova is by putting together various sources - including other Square Enix games - and how they handled freakishly similar scenarios.
Did you know there is a companion mobile game for it that was out on the good old flip phones? Did you know there was an online mode in Dirge of Cerberus only available in Japan, but had story elements that were not in the main game?
The sad part is, there's still so much to go through...
(I've also had various discussions with @ourfinalheaven, Manu, who doesn't have Tumblr, so here is her Twitter. and Somebody's Nightmare (here is her Twitter). So I wanted to tag them here, as it's much more fun to discuss these ideas as a group, since it'll only help you build on and strengthen your own ideas.)
Please be aware, there will be Spoilers for FFVII - Almost all Compilation titles, Xenogears, and NieR Automata throughout this.
Tumblr media
So let's go on a journey where we explore what actually already exists in the compilation - including the idea of the whispers and timeloops - how Minerva may play into everything, and what exactly Jenova is capable of doing.
I asked Sesi if he'd ever played any of the NieR games, because he'd said something that made me wonder if they were going to take a similar approach. As a very, very quick high level summary: NieR Automata deals with a time loop type of idea. The androids will be rebooted and repeat the same things over and over again. This is broken when 2B is killed by A2 because she becomes infected with a virus. That being said, you have the option after Ending E to either erase all of your data and end the cycle OR you can try again. The Pods have a discussion, and one asks, "But won't they just do the same thing again?" and the other replies with "Maybe. But it could also be different this time."
Here's Sesi's message back to me when I asked him about this (cleaned up a bit since we were having a casual conversation over Discord):
Maybe I could just guess based comparatively on the Dirge storyline, because that was sort of SE's first flirtation with “robots and androids” since they’re all programmed and locked behind like task managers and shit that can shut them down. The story of the online mode for DoC that came out in Japan, we never got to see it, you’re basically an Android OC and you have to get to “the end of the level” and then essentially die, and a new one takes its place. This keeps happening until Weiss is essentially freed from being able to be task managed by the guys who are suppose to be able to control them and I know from tons of years with Square games that they’re verrrrry bad at differentiating their narratives they tend to just keep “ripping themselves off” so is it anything close to that?
Cuz if so I think I kinda know what you’re saying and yeah, I agree, I think with CC bringing in its poetic symbolism and LOVELESS, and DoC bringing back the cyclic nature of the lore, whispers, premonitions and future visions, proto-Materia and the perversion of this next cycle since the planet can no longer cleanse and protect itself and its will is weakening lesser and lesser to the point where it’s fate is “in a true sense of jeopardy This time essentially it’s all tied in together and sort of played as though it's a fated track; a cycle of events and something has hitched it, thus the whispers manifesting and Sephiroth's higher implied control over his destiny. Of course, even all that is just their new red herring game, but it’s definitely a part of the lore they want to play with, in order to go back and reMAKE the OG with the comp inserted from inception. Also gut punch a lot.
Time Loops
I was somewhat surprised to find out that this concept is NOT new to FFVII's universe. It's discussed in Dirge of Cerberus... probably one of the least played and least understood of the compilation. (Trying to sell a third person shooter with terrible controls to a market of mostly people used to turn-based combat wasn't going to go well.)
Tumblr media
On top of it, we didn't even get all of it, since online mode was never released outside of Japan, and the Dirge of Cerberus Lost Episode was on Amp'd Mobile and Verizon flip phones back in 2006. Were you around for the cell phones in 2006? I had the ones on the list, and how somebody could play a game on those blows my mind.
Square has a tendency to reuse themes from their other titles. Probably one of the most blatant is the similarities between Xenogears and Final Fantasy VII. They were both being developed at the same time and a lot of ideas that didn't make it into FFVII ended up in Xenogears.
NieR
So how does this work? In NieR (both Replicant and Automata), you play the same path multiple times. Each time, it's slightly different depending on what side quests you did your first and second playthrough, but there's also other subtle differences throughout the story. In Automata, you get to play as 2B your first playthrough and 9S for your second. They follow the same path, but you get it from his perspective the second time and it reveals a bit more of what is going on. However, even with some slight differences, the main plot points stay the same and the ending result it also the same.
Tumblr media
Then on your third playthrough, you wake up in the Bunker, and you're getting ready to go on a new mission. This time, though, 2B is killed and shit hits the fan. Things get crazy, you play as a new character: A2. In the end, pretty much everyone "dies", but you can choose to "reboot" and try again. You also can say you are done and let them all rest and delete your save data (the game gives you the option for both Automata and Replicant, and with Replicant, it actually leads to a new ending).
The striking thing for me is... There are certain events that will always happen, no matter what.
Fixed Points in Time
It's been years since I've watched Doctor Who, but there was something that stuck with me, and that was the fixed points in time. You can read about all of them here, but here's the basics:
Tumblr media
Now, of course Doctor Who goes into this with much more detail and it's a recurring theme. However, as you read through that page, you'll probably find many aspects that have been used in various JRPGs that you've played. And Doctor Who most likely pulled some of the idea from classic Science Fiction novels. Each story puts its own spin on it.
How does this relate to FFVII Remake? Well, when they say that the major plot points will stay the same, it reminds me of this. No matter what, Cloud must fall into the Sector 5 Church, the Sector 7 Plate must be dropped, Aerith and Zack both must die, and Meteor has to be summoned, to name a few. So, with a time loop, those things would still have to take place in order to prevent a complete collapse of reality (at least in how Doctor Who uses it).
Therefore, the Whispers are ensuring that the Will of the Planet is followed.
One of the major themes in FFVII is that of loss. People die and they do not come back. Yes, other FF games do allow this to happen (FFX, FFXIII, FFXV), but VII is not those games. It was written with that idea in mind, that once a person dies, they, just like in real life, are dead and cannot be brought back.
I've previously written that I think they'll make us believe we are able to change fate, but we will eventually be slammed with the reality that we can't. That is because the planet has determined that certain events are fixed points.
Xenogears
Xenogears takes a bit of a different approach to the loop idea. Instead of repeating the same time period over and over, it has the characters reincarnated, and the same outcome happens each time: Elly dies. However, each time it's different. After all, they're in various time periods, in some cases thousands of years apart.
Tumblr media
In all of the lives of Fei (who will have a different name in each time period) and Elly (who is always Elly/Elhaym), Elly will end up dying trying to protect Fei and the others. In one life, she is a religious figure at a totally not Catholic church, in another she's the wife of a scientist who was working to create children from nanomachines due to mass infertility issues. But she is ALWAYS with Fei, even if his name changes.
In her Mother Elhaym time, this is when Lacan (Fei) finally snaps. Though he's not fully aware of his past lives, he becomes aware, the anger consumes him, and he becomes Grahf. Fei is then reborn into the time period you play the game in.
Tumblr media
There's a lot to unpack with this, so I won't go into it. Grahf wants to destroy God (Deus) because he thinks if he does, then it'll stop the suffering (his suffering).
If you do want to read more about Grahf, you can do so here, but it probably won't make much sense unless you've played Xenogears up to that point... Since it's much later in the game that this is all explained.
Tumblr media
Lacan's desire was to stop the cycle of Elly always sacrificing herself for his sake. Though Grahf is not a perfect existence - he's not fully "The Contact", he sacrifices himself in order to let Fei move forward, and hopefully stop the cycle, by destroying the Deus system. (Elly also tries to sacrifice herself here, but Fei goes after her and stops her.)
Now, some people may think I'm saying that Cloud or somebody is going to do this in order to save Aerith or Zack (or his village or mom), but in FFVII if they do the loop method, I don't think Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and the others are aware of it. Most likely, it's only 'Sephiroth' and Aerith who are aware of it.
How this Could Be used for Final Fantasy VII
I'm stressing could because there's so many different possibilities on how they use this (if they are using this), so please, don't take this as fact. This is based on speculation based on what we know.
Tumblr media
A time loop is a great way to explain away the differences in the story that we've seen: Biggs being alive, Wedge living for longer than he should have, etc. Since these are not major plot changes, they can simply say that this time it'll be slightly different... but your fixed points (major plot points) will remain the same.
It's a way to pull in some of the more obscure themes from Dirge of Cerberus and also play with the LOVELESS lore.
It could all simply be a big red herring and it's really just a remake of OG, but with the compilation tied together nicely... since it works much better when it's combined and not in 50 different games, books, movies, etc.
I don't think it's a "sequel" per say, not in the way I generally perceive a sequel. It's more of a loop of the same thing. The question is, when is the loop started and what will cause it to end? When will the planet (if it even is the planet) determine that it's good enough to begin moving forward?
JENOVA, Sephiroth, Genesis, and Minerva - Oh My!
Let's be real... Genesis isn't exactly the most popular character in the FFVII Compilation... but what if they make him one of the most important to the story? //Ducks as various fruits and vegetable are thrown in my direction//
Tumblr media
I think what Genesis is probably most known for is his love of LOVELESS. He has the entire thing memorized and randomly says lines from it throughout Crisis Core. LOVELESS lore is still something I'm trying to grasp, so I am not going to comment much on it. Once I understand it more, I'll update this.
Tumblr media
...And then this happens. The secret ending for Dirge of Cerberus, where Genesis picks up Weiss. Weiss, who has now been introduced along with Nero in FFVII INTERmission and is an optional ridiculously hard boss in the Shinra battle simulator in chapter 17 of the main story. There is some lore associated with the battle sim - so if you don't plan on beating it or you just can't, you can look up the pre-battle and post-battle cut scenes on YouTube. They're very short, but interesting. (I beat this asshole last night - it's a hell of a fight.)
....To Be Continued because apparently Tumblr won't allow more than 10 images per post now.... Next will be more on JENOVA and Sephiroth along with Minerva.

this is a historical au collaboration, but any genre is allowed as long as your story is set in your chosen era! however, smut is not allowed for jisung or if you, the writer, are underage.
all works must be member x reader. love triangles and the like are allowed, but the main male character must be the member you chose.
eras and members are chosen on a first come, first served basis. please message me if you want to participate! if your main blog isn’t your writing blog, please be sure to tell me your writing blog so i can add it to this list correctly :)
you must have discord, since i will be sending all writers working on this collaboration a discord server link. there, i will send announcements and we can all give each other feedback!
tag any triggering content. if you’re not sure, ask in the discord server!
research is definitely encouraged as you will be writing about historical eras, some with specific cultural significance! please be respectful of any cultures or traditions you write about.
in the same vein, don’t romanticize any historical events or figures that are controversial, or have had negative cultural impact (ie, 9/11, the crusades, colonialism). again, if you’re not sure, ask in the discord server!

It’s Nice to Have a Friend - (Secret Solenoid) TFP Starscream x reader
Word count: 5,599
Warnings: none
A/n: This is my Secret Solenoid gift to @sheabeeprime. This ended up way longer than I meant it to be. The ideas for what I could do just kept piling up and I decided to do all of them. And in true Scarlet fashion, I named this after a Taylor Swift song.
~
The view was amazing from where you sat on the edge of a cliff. Staring at the amazing view ahead of you. The wind in your face and hair. Just you, your thoughts, and the giant robot on your left.
Yeah, you honestly had no idea why Starscream decided to sit with you. And no idea why he always came to your home to pick you up when he was hunting for energon. Maybe he just needed company? Whatever the reason, an opportunity like this was too cool to pass down. So you tagged along whenever you were free. Which sometimes meant having to tell him you were busy or why you weren’t home when he came last. Though it was amazing how he would avoid being seen.
You didn’t know much about him. All you knew was that he was grumpy, had a huge ego, and his ex co-workers sucked.
You bit your lip. Today was the only chance for you to ask this. You pushed a strand of hair that flew in your face.
His helm faced forward, but his optics were on you. “What is it, human?”
“Hmmm?” You looked up at him as innocently as you could manage.
“’I know you were going to ask me something. Just ask me and get it over with.”
“Well,” you began, “There’s this parade going on…”
“And?” he raised one of his large eyebrows.
“It’s celebrating all the different countries in the world.”
“So?”
“I was thinking we could go?” You shrugged and gave a strained smile.
“No.” He immediately shot down the idea.
“But you could learn all about different human cultures.”
“Why would I want to learn about other humans anyway?”
“Wouldn’t simply knowing those kinds of things get you ahead of, and make you more knowledgeable than, the Decepticons?” you asked nonchalantly.
“Hah! You think saying that will make me go?” A look of amused triumph was on his face, but you could see the metaphorical cogs turning in his helm. He soon let out an angry and reluctant hum. “But I suppose I could take some of my precious time to come to your… ‘celebration of opposing humans’.” He waved his servo.
You let out a laugh. “We aren’t enemies or any like that just because we’re from other countries. Yeah, there can be some wars, but we’re mostly allies.”
Starscream gave you a perplexed look with his head tilted. Eventually, he just huffed and turned away, mumbling, “That doesn’t even make sense.”
You examined him, then shrugged. “Okay. But whether or not it makes sense to you, I’m honored you’ll bestow your presence upon the parade.”
He considered your words and, once he processed that it was praise, he puffed out his chassis with his helm held high.
There was a bit of trial and error in figuring out how to get there. You didn’t have exact coordinates and Starscream didn’t know where it was. Finally, you both decided on a method. You would give him directions while looking at a map on your phone. Once you steer him in the general area, you should be able to see the parade from the air. Upon this decision, Starscream jumped off the cliff to perform a flawless, midair transformation. He soared back up to meet you, showing off a few spins, and opened the cockpit for you to get in.
You eagerly got in and he took off. He shot through the sky like a comet, reaching up through a puffy white cloud, which resulted in a huge smile on your face. There was something amazing about being that high above the ground. Clouds stretching out made it feel like a new, hidden world.
“Which way?”
“Oh, right!”
It was strange how people appeared so small from up above. The whole event would probably have seemed grander from the ground, but you weren’t going to pass up the opportunity to see it from the air. Especially with a giant robot.
“Wow. Look at it,” you commented. Suddenly, the rule of ‘if I can see you, you can see me’ came to mind. “Uh, are they going to find it suspicious that a jet is just floating here?”
“You tell me.”
You thought for only a second. “Definitely.”
Starscream maneuvered himself into a cloud, enclosing around him as though it were just a hologram. The nose poked out and there was a thin layer of cloud over the glass off the cockpit.
“You can still see, right?” he inquired.
“Yep. Thanks.”
You leaned back comfortably. The view was amazing. However the wonder slowly wore off and the silence began pricking at you. You almost wished for him to start complaining, or asking you questions, or for a radio. Though you doubted that he would enjoy human music. Or would he? Maybe you should try introducing some to him, but which genre?
“So what’s going on?” Starscream’s question brought you out of your thoughts.
“Oh, well people representing each country are walking in their group with a flag of that country. Like Italy, over there. They invented pizza!” You sat straight and pointed.
“What now?”
“Pizza, it’s a type of food that has cheese and tomato sauce an-“
“Nevermind. I don’t want to hear about the things you fleshies consume.” You thought you felt his alt mode shudder.
“Hey, if you were human, you would like it too,” you said. You fought the feeling of being offended that was taking over your thoughts.
“Then thank Primus I’m not.”
“Whatever.”  You crossed your arms and slouched back. “… But we do need to eat to survive you know.”
He hummed in reluctant consideration. “I suppose you’re right.”
Some time passed as you continued to sit there. Occasionally you would comment on a ‘country’ that was passing by. Sometimes he would ask about one. It was surprising how much your mind blanked out when you tried to talk about a country. You would have assumed that you wouldn’t have this problem considering you grew up on Earth.
A white flag with a circle and black lines on the corners caught your eye. You couldn't see the details from so far away, but you knew the circle was a blue and red yin yang. "Oh! That's the flag for South Korea."
"South? That sounds more like a location than a faction."
"Faction? What? Well, yes, it's a location. A location with its own government and own way of doing things. Like how you're a cybertronian. Because you're from Cybertron? Were you thinking about it like that? Factions?"
He hovered slightly higher then fell back into place. "How was I supposed to know? Cybertron had one government and leader. Much simpler."
"Hmmm." You considered the thought. "That's either really nice or there was a lot of corruption."
"Oh, you bet there was corruption. But does that mean there's a north, whatever it's called?"
"Korea. And yes, there's a North Korea. It split into north and south a while ago. North Korea has a dictator and isn't a place you want to go."
“What kinds of governments does each of these ‘countries’ have?” He asked.
“Well, the USA is a Democratic Republic. And there’s also socialism in some places, and at some point I think Russia was communist? Why can’t I remember anything?” You cursed yourself.
“Remind me why there isn’t one large government and leaders over the whole Earth?”
“That would be hard to do. A lot of people just wouldn’t agree to that. One of the reasons being that people want their own way of doing things. Since all of these countries formed on their own, having them all agree on giving up their own leadership to have a universal government is nearly impossible. There will always be someone who disagrees on how to run things.”
“It would be easier if someone just conquered the Earth.”
“You think people haven’t tried? There’ve been quite a bit of attempts, like Napoleon, but they all failed in the end. It’s a big place and people fight back.”
Another silence fell upon you both. You bit your lip as you scanned over the parade again.
"There's Japan. They have anime," you said.
Starscream finally lost his patience. “I’m not learning anything of use here! I’m just sitting here watching humans walk! The most informative bit was what you told me about North Kaon!"
"North Korea."
"Whatever it was! You expect me to remember all of these names?”
“Well, at least you can get an idea of what each country is like.”
“Admit it, you just told me to go because you wanted to come.”
“Maybe,” your voice rose an octave higher.
He scoffed.
“But,” you added, sitting up, “I did genuinely want to see it with you and show you a little more of Earth.”
“Why would I want to stay here even longer?!”
“I didn’t say that.” You looked at the gauges softly as if it were his face.
“Ah,” there was a nervous stutter present in his voice, “right.”
“Why did you come to Earth if you hate it so much?”
“It’s one of the last locations where we can find even scraps of energon. And you’ve come along to aid me enough times to know it’s important,” he said.
“It’s one of the only things you do.” You recollected everytime you were with him.
“Because ever since leaving the Decepticons ranks, I no longer have access to our storage or equipment to effectively find it. But I promise you, if it weren’t for Cybertron becoming a desert wasteland during the war, I would have never come to this mud ball.”
“Well. Even if you really wanna get back to cybertron, I’m glad I met you. And that I got to experience your awesome flying skills.” You tugged on a strand of your hair and ran your fingers through it.
There was  a brief silence.
“I mean, of course you would… How much longer did you want to see the parade?”
“Maybe a half an hour.”
“Hmmm. I’m going to be sore after hovering in the same spot for so long.”
“I could always rub your wings later if you want,” you offered.
“And let your grubby, little, fleshie hands on my magnificent wings? I think not.”
“Okay.” You rolled your eyes playfully. “It was just an idea.”
For a few more moments, neither of you said anything.
“Would you like to see a demonstration of my aerobatic skills later?”
“Actually, I would.”
A comfortable pause fell upon you.
“…Would you like to go down there?” he offered. He tipped his nose ever-so-slightly to the ground.
“Nah.” You leaned back in your seat with a smile. “I like it up here with you.”
It had been two months and six days since you last saw him.
Yes, you were counting and had no idea why. Maybe he finally got tired of your fleshie self and left. Maybe you should have seen it coming with how much he disliked humans. Maybe you annoyed him so much that he decided to never see you again without a word.
Yet, when you truly thought about it, it didn’t make sense. He seemed to enjoy being with you, even if he never showed it outright. He was always the one who decided to bring you along when hunting for energon. Even when he was a giant robot, and clearly had some sort of prejudice against humans, it felt as though he still treated you as an equal to some degree.
But maybe he truly did get tired of you.
You stood by your window. The sun had dipped below the horizon and the last ghosts of light had faded away into darkness. You stood in your sweat pants and baggy t-shirt. Your hair was brushed and you were ready to relax. A warm cup of hot chocolate was in your hands, the warmth seeping into your skin. You stared into the cup, thinking of nothing in particular when you blinked at a sudden light.
Your eyes instinctively followed the light. Outside the window, hovering just above the ground, was a large, greenish blue, swirling vortex. You stepped back, but promptly leaned closer for a better look. It didn’t seem to be pulling anything into it. It seemed gentle, yet powerful. You would have found it beautiful if your mind weren’t preoccupied with confusion.
Something seemed to appear inside of it. It was tall, and metal and--!
You nearly dropped your glass mug. After placing it safely to the side, you grabbed a jacket and rushed out the door. You raced to where you saw the portal as fast as your feet would carry you. It was still there when you reached it. Starscream held a device in his hands and his red optics searched the area, as if looking for something.
“Starscream!” You ran up to him, nearly in tears. “Where were you? You’ve been gone forever!”
His optics avoided your eyes. “Well, I…” His mouth pushed into a thin frown. “I lost my T-cog.”
“You’re what now?”
“T-cog! It’s what allows cybertronians to transform.”
Your current expression dropped as it finally dawned on you. The reason he had suddenly disappeared. Then you remembered that there were other people nearby.
“Why don’t we go back through your portal thing and talk about it there?” You began to jog into the portal.
“Ground bridge.”
“Whatever it is.”
You ran while he walked in. The fact that the ground seemed to be made of swirling energy, though it felt completely solid, messed you up. You being smaller didn’t help either. You were running and still falling behind. After a half a minute, Starscream turned around to pick you up and carry you through.
A flash filled your vision and you had to blink several times to adjust to the dark, new area. The walls, ceiling, and floor were made entirely of metal. The only light source came from a dim glow from an foreign, alien screen. It was clear from the dust that no one had been there in a long time. The scale was so large that you felt confident that this was something cybertronians built.
The portal behind you shrunk until it vanished. Starscream lowered you down onto the ground. As soon as your feet hit the floor, you dashed to Starscream’s foot to give him the biggest hug you could.
“I missed you,” you mumbled. Of course, he might have not heard it if it weren’t for nearly every surface being made of metal, causing an echo.
His posture went rigid. He began to reach down to pat your head, then pulled his hand away. He stayed like that without moving a servo the whole time you hugged him.
“Ah… Me too.”
You let go. The cold of the living metal still lingered on you.
“Where have you been? How did…?” You stared up at him.
“I came across some other humans,” he began as he walked over for something to sit on. He helped you up onto it and you sat next to him. “I tried to asist them in building a cybertronian. I believed that they would allow me to keep energon I allowed them to find.” He stared at the floor the entire time.
Your eyes stayed locked on his glowing optics. “Build a cybertronian? Wait, if that was what happened, how did you lose your T thing?”
“I-They needed a t-cog in order to build a cybertronian. The one they already acquired was lost and they decided to take mine instead.” He almost seemed to curl up at the last words.
This settled on your mind like a ton of bricks. You didn’t say a word. Suddenly the room felt very heavy. The silence was like a suffocating blanket that you couldn’t seem to push off. You swallowed.
“They took… it? But, you could have fought them off easi-“
“They shot me with some sort of stun mechanism then proceeded to rip me open to take it!” His talons clenched into fists before him.
Once again, you couldn’t speak.
“Why is it that the first humans I meet, other than you, are no better than the Decepticons?”
“… Because some people can just be like that. Just like humans have potential for both good and harm, it seems like cybertronians are the same in that way.” You stared at the ground. “So… You can’t transform anymore?”
“No.”
“And that’s why you couldn’t fly back to me?”
“Not until I found the Harbinger and a portable ground bridge.”
You nodded. You pulled your legs to your chest and stared off into nothing. “That must stink. Not being able to fly.”
“It’s been terrible! How do humans survive like this?” He lifted his fists to his face.  His eyebrows, or whatever they were called, dug into his optics.
You shrugged. “We’re just used to it.”
The metaphorical blanket came back onto you, but somewhat more comfortably. Somewhat. You both continued to sit.
“… Are you upset about my not being able to transform?” Starscream cut through the silence. Almost so softly that you could hardly believe he was the one who said it.
“Huh? Well, yes,” you let go of your legs, “because you’re upset. I know how much you love flying!”
“But what about you?”
“Me?” You pointed to yourself.
“Yes!”
“I don’t understand what you’re asking.”
“How do you feel about me not being able to transform?!” He stood up and spun on his heels to face you. His wings stuck up on point.
“Well,” you thought for a second, “I did enjoy flying, but it honestly doesn’t matter too much to me if you can turn into a jet or not. I’m just happy you came back.”
“Oh.” The frustrated expression fell from his face and he looked away. In any direction except at you.
“What’s wrong?” You straightened your back as if it would help you see what was up.
“Nothing, I think. I had simply thought that you only liked me because of my flight capabilities.”
“Why would you think that?”
“I don’t know. Maybe because Megatron only kept me alive because I was useful? It was always like that on Cybertron, and with those other humans. Once I become useless, I’m tossed away.”
You felt your heart twisted and your blood boiling. “I hate people who are like that. Forget them. They aren’t worth your time. I’m glad their out of your life.” You stood up. “And to me, as long as we get to hang out, I’m good.”
Starscream tilted his head. “You truly don’t make any sense.”
You shrugged. “The best people in life are free.”
“Huh?”
“People who don’t expect anything in return,” you elaborated. “They care and love you unconditionally.”
“I don’t believe anyone like that exists.”
“They exist. And so do I.” You confidently stared up at him.
His gaze darted between you and away from you. He took a few steps back, as if you were a mysterious creature that could become hostile or blow up any second. Eventually, he gave in to a beautiful, natural smile. And the room suddenly seemed brighter.
“So, Starscream, I was thinking…” You walked into the room.
“If it’s anything about making a giant s’more again, I’m not interested.”
“No.”
Starscream had been feeling down, pun not intended, about losing his t-cog. You had cleared out two days in your schedule to have a sleepover with him. He had surprised you when you jokingly offered for him to brush your hair and he accepted. He also tried to braid it when you taught him how. It was surprisingly well done, considering the size of his talons, but still sloppy. You had to remind him that he wasn’t a failure at braiding. While laying in your sleeping bag and bundle of blankets you brought for the occasion, an idea came to you.
“I was thinking,” you continued, “that since you’ve been down about not being able to,” Starscream gave you the stink eye, “you know. So I decided it would be fun to do something similar to that one day with the parade.”
“In case you haven’t noticed, I can’t fly you to another one.”
“No, not that. I mean that there’s this scout group doing a world presentation or whatever near where I live. They’re going to have cardboard stands set up for each country they researched about.”
“I really don’t think you’ve thought this through,” Starscream sighed, “I do not think these, or any, humans would react well to seeing a cybertronian.”
“I’ve already figured that out!” You bounced on your toes. “I’ll be carrying a camera that will stream video to you over here. That way you can see it without having to be there! And I have some earbuds so I can start a call with you and be able to hear and answer back if you have any questions.”
“Will the humans be suspicious about you speaking to no one?”
“Nope! They’ll just assume I’m on a call with someone, which technically isn’t wrong. So what do you say?”
“Okay. So you can still see the video feed, right?” you asked while readjusting the camera on your hat.
“Yes, now stop shaking around!” Starscream’s voice came through your earbud. You swore that you would go deaf if this lasted too long.
“Okay,” you mumbled.
The sky was overcast. You walked into the building along with families that had come to see the scouts’ projects. There were tons of tables and three paneled boards lined up. People wandered around. They would stop to read, then turn and walk to the next one that caught their eye. It was clear which groups were family because they would greatly compliment the child’s work.
You figured you needed to start somewhere. It was a stange feeling to be there when you didn’t know anyone, even if the event was open to the public.
“Are we just going to stare?”
This snapped you out of your daze. You blinked for a second. Right, you weren’t alone. You had Starscream.
“Right,” you said and stepped forward.
You walked along the rows, glancing over them until one caught your eye. “France,” you said while pointing to the printed out flag, making sure your finger could be seen by the camera. “It’s in Europe. The capital is Paris. The population is 66 million.” You read off of it. You walked over to another. “Germany. It’s also in Europe. You know, maybe this whole row is European countries. Anyway, capital’s Berlin. Population is 83 million. Their currency is euros.”
“Ironic how these give more information than you did that other day.”
You rolled your eyes. “Yes. Ironic.” You walked a few more steps and stopped. “Some place named Estonia. The flag looks cool.”
“It’s three lines of color, like the other ones.”
“I like the colors.”
“There’s a lot of writing and pictures on each report,” Starscream commented. “Did each of these children research, find the information, and organize it in a presentable way?”
“Yes?” your voice came out as more of a question.
“Impressive.”
You smiled. “Some kids don’t do scouts, but they end up doing things similar with science fairs in school. They’ll do experiments or research, and they they have to make a presentation about it, like a vinegar volcano.”
“A volcano?!”
“No, it can’t do anything dangerous.”
“Then what’s the point? I wouldn’t call that science.”
“It’s simple science that kids are able to do. You know, since they’re kids?”
You noticed one of the parents staring at you and you gave an apologetic look while moving your hair to point at your earbud. You continued walking and eyeing some of the posters to read to Starscream. You had gotten to the Asia section and did your best to pick out something to show him.
“And see? The rainbow bridge.” You pointed.
“Huh? Oh, yes. Very nice,” he said absent mindedly.
You quirked an eyebrow up, but eventually shrugged. He was probably getting bored with all of this. A part of you was beginning to wonder why you thought this was a good idea. This thought detracted you from the sounds surrounding you. You suddenly felt cold and like something was hitting you?
You looked around and suddenly noticed that the fire alarm had gone off. Loud beeps filled the room. Everyone was trying to get out. Kids looked in all directions in confusion. Adults tried to keep them calm and safely head out. Your clothes were beginning to dampen. Instead of trying to get out, your first instinct was to get out of the sprinkler. You crawled under a table and peeked out.
The last few people were almost through the door. That’s when you decided it was time for you to go, but something caught your eye. Something in one of the upper windows that lined the wall near the ceiling. Starscream? His red optics stared down at you and he signaled for you to stay there, along with whispering to you through your earbud. You were confused, but you hid under the table once more.
You waited until the water stopped pouring. Once it was over, you pulled yourself out and to your feet. You glanced around. That was rather sudden. And now there were puddles all over the floor.
A loud rattling echoed in the room.
You turned to see the large door, the kind you would see in a garage, at the back of the room open up. The temperature of the room changed to match outside. Starscream held the door up with a mischievous smirk. You took your earbud out.
“What did you do?”
“I may have gotten bored simply watching through a screen and decided to come. And I may have possibly started a fire, opened a window, and held it next to one of those fire alarms.” His grin grew with each word.
“Really?” You asked rhetorically with your hands on your hips. But you couldn’t help but crack a smile yourself.
“What? I was bored.” He shrugged and waved a hand.
You shook your head with a laugh. “Whatever.”
Starscream ducked in. He had to stay bent down to order to fit. You moved out of his way was he came in.
“So, you were actually interested in this?” you questioned.
“I thought it would be better to see it in person with you.”
“Yeah, but some fire trucks or someone else is going to eventually come back here and see you.”
“Hmm.” He looked back. “I see. But one look for a nanoklick couldn’t hurt. I just did all of this so I could see it anyway.”
“Okay.” You shrugged. “Just hurry.”
After his wing nicked the roof when he tried to straighten himself, he quickly realized that it was easier for him to be on his knees. As he got down on his knees, you helped direct him down in the small free space between the tables. The legs skidding against the floor echoed through the room and made you jump. You were surprised he was even trying to do this when he could barely fit between the rows.
He had to lean in close to get good look of the displays. He would occasionally ask you the meaning of a word he didn’t know. You had to admit, it was more fun to have him there in person. Unfortunately you couldn’t enjoy this for fear of being seen. You constantly looked over your shoulder.
Eventually your paranoia dropped by a few notches. Though, by then Starscream had gotten tired of being crammed in a small space and probably noticed your concern. It was awkward getting to the garage door, between him being unable to move much and him blocking you. But you made your way out.
He lifted the door and ducked under and out. You followed when you noticed him freeze. Confused, you followed his gaze. Your blood went cold and you felt as if your mind was being squeezed into a box.
Staring up at Starscream was what looked to be a five year old child. The little boy was alone, probably wandered off, and had an orange jacket and hat. His expression twisted into disbelief then fear. Your heart rate quickened when you saw his face wobbling.
“Scrap,” you let out as you both turn the other way in panic.
Starscream closed the door with a loud bang that sent a shiver up your spine. You didn’t noticed what Starstream was doing behind you, since you were already running on instinct. When he came into your field of vision again, he was twisting on one foot to regain balance and lifted up the remote ground bridge device. In his panic, he hesitated on which button to click, but quickly pressed it once he remembered.
“Is it a good idea to open it up in here?” you questioned as the piece of cybertronian technology swirled and grew before you.
“I would have preferred a larger space, but I don’t believe we have much of a choice.”
He scooped you up and pulled you through. Like always, you blinked when a flash filled your vision. The air suddenly changed and you were back on the Harbinger as the ground bridge closed behind you. When he held you to the ground and you finally collected yourself enough to jump off, you realized that three of the cardboard presentations had managed to come through along with you and Starscream.
You stood there. “Well, that was interesting.”
“One shouldn’t cause any problems, right?” He looked to you before his eyes darted back to where the ground bridge was.
“That was a kid. They won’t believe him. They might look around, but after seeing no giant robot, they’ll dismiss it.”
“That’s good to hear.” Starscream groaned and held his shoulder. “That made all of my joints stiff. And the tip of my wing caught on the top of that door.” He glanced at his wing with a slight pout on his face.
You stared up at him, taking a moment to consider your words before you were unable to take them back. “… Would you like it if I massaged your wings?”
His optics widened and darted around the area. “Fine,” you could barely hear in the midst of low grumbles.
You blinked twice before fully processing what that meant. As you were trying to figure out how to even reach his wings, he held out his hand. You stepped onto it and he carried you to a table or whatever it was. It was too large for you to tell exactly. You carefully got off of his hand and he sat with his wings facing you.
You sat with your legs hanging off the edge. Your hands reached out to his wings. He readjusted himself so you didn’t have to lean forward in order to touch them. Your fingers shook. You hesitated. Finally, your hand laid flat on it. It was cold. You didn’t know what you expected. It was basically like touching a regular piece of metal. You weren’t sure what you were expecting. But somehow it felt different. Maybe because he had trusted you to touch it. You began rubbing it soothingly. You prayed that you weren’t doing anything wrong.
He hummed as you rubbed patterns onto it. Although you were sure he could barely feel it, you saw him relaxing. There was silence for several minutes.
“Why are you so kind?” he said.
“Huh?” You did your best to peek around to look at his face.
“How can humans be like this? At least you and the ones you talk about. Those small humans, no matter how well they proformed with their research, were praised. And how can other humans get along well enough to be allies despite having separate territories and governments? How can anyone do anything for someone else without expected anything in return.” He turned his helm to you. “Unless there’s something you’re not telling me.”
“No?” You tilted your head in confusion. “I just wanted to because it was the nice thing to do?”
“How? Why?” He turned his whole body, leaving your hands floating in the air. “Why are you always so nice to me? Has it ever occurred to you that you would get nothing in return? Especially from a grounded Decepticon defect?”
“I’m not looking for anything in return,” you started calmly. “I might get to learn about cybertronians, and do some cool things with you. And I get to spend time with you. I get that in exchange, but I’m not expecting anything more. Can you please accept that there are some people who are just nice? Who actually like you and want what’s best for you?”
His face twisted, as if about to argue. But paused, like he had never considered that before. He opened his mouth again, but closed it again, when no words would come out.
He eventually sighed. “I suppose I’ll simply have to trust you,” he said softly. He stared at you closely. “Your hair dried.”
You suddenly remembered it had been wet from the sprinklers. He reached out and touched your hair, letting it fall on his talons.  Then he flinched back. “Uh… apologies.”
You reached out to pull his finger close to you and hug it. “It’s okay.” You smiled. “I like it.”
Starscream appeared shocked by this, but relaxed and smiled. A genuine smile.

dream smp asagao au, aka the very specific high school au
also aka the post thats very self indulgent for me and maybe 3 other people.
in short: its a dsmp high school au based on the game asagao academy, where everyone is part of a gaming club and compete against one another in tournaments. more in depth info about the AU/Asagao itself, as well as more info about the plot and roles of the AU itself.
Asagao Academy Basics
So to start, let’s cover the basics: what is Asagao Academy. ….well, an old Youtuber dating sim game (which, despite unfortunately including some fairly questionable CCs, IS still really good and well written and I recommend it) But what is it for AU purposes?
Asagao Academy is a highly elite world-wide boarding school set in Japan for those who are either rich enough to afford it, or those skilled enough to get scholarships. Within the game, there are two main clubs: Normal Boots and Hidden Block. They’re both gaming clubs, and joining is seen as super exclusive since they’re ALSO the most popular people in the school.
The two clubs compete with each other in various tournament events with specific categories. For example: Satch (from NB) and Jimmy (from HB) both compete in the “Tech and Invention” category, where they have to create/invent something related to gaming and have it judged at the event like a science fair. Meanwhile, Jared (from NB) and Wallid (from HB) both compete in “Dance” aka DDR and the person with the highest score wins.
The other categories featured in game include: Puzzle games (like Bejeweled or Tetris), Video Game Trivia, Pinball, Retro Platformers, a three-person fighting game, and 100% completion speedruns. So tldr; the categories can be kind of fiddled with and be whatever you want them to be, because even the original ones are pretty wack.
Also, there’s no rules against competing in multiple categories— in fact, most of the HB members in game do! It’s more about balancing time and practicing for them alongside school and other activities.
The winner of the competition is the team/competitor(s) with the most total wins.
Another thing to note: despite competing as clubs, they’re all actually pretty good friends. It’s all lighthearted and fun in the end, hell the leader of the opposing club even helps the main character join the main club just because he wants a decent challenge.
Speaking of… the main character! Hana Mizuno! I don’t have any current plans to include her in this AU (a la new dating routes), but I wanted to mention her for a few reasons.
Tumblr media
For the main reason: her hair. Even as soon as she shows up, Mai (her best friend and roommate, who can break the 4th wall) immediately calls her out for her hair for looking like a main character which as we learn… isn’t an exaggeration. She’s literally a born protagonist, thus being born with naturally pink hair and a tragic backstory. Not only that, but other people are also born protagonists with pink hair as well— she isn’t an exception.
About the AU -- Revolution Era
A few things to note: in this au, when I first drafted it I… wasn’t looking to include 20+ people. I cut a lot of characters, but instead working with the idea that they’re still THERE, they just… don’t compete? Either they aren’t in the club and are just friends with the members, or they’re members who just don’t compete professionally. It’s nothing personal against those CCs and tbh as times goes they may get added more, but for now they’re just in the BG vibin.
It covers a really basic retelling of s1 for most of the planned au. It starts with One Club: the Dream Team. Members include: Dream (sophomore), Sapnap (sophomore), George (junior), Wilbur (junior), Eret (junior), and Fundy (freshman).
For reasons, possibly just as a goof or spite towards their American counterparts, Wilbur declares independence from the Dream Team and makes his OWN gaming club: L’Manberg. He takes Eret (a close friend from his grade) and Fundy (the freshman he immediately adopted) with him, causing the two teams to be 3v3.
But Wilbur’s got a dastardly surprise up his sleeve: TOMMY, HIS YOUNGER BROTHER (bc I am nothing if not a dedicated crimebros stan), AND TUBBO. They’re both too young to actually attend Asagao yet, but theres no age rules in the actual competitions so its fair play. They’re Wilbur’s secret weapon. After all, a 5v3 where the team with the most wins wins the competition? That’s a massive advantage.
… we all know how this goes though don’t we. Wilbur’s day be so fine, then BOOM, Eret betrayal 😔
In this case Eret feels it’s a LITTLE unfair to blindside them like that, plus Dream promised to make him the Leader of the Dream Team and, yknow, that kind of stuff DOES look good on resumes, so…
TLDR; Eret rejoins the Dream Team crew, as well as informing them of Wilbur’s plan with including Tommy and Tubbo and becomes leader. They’re still letting Dream and Co. basically actually do the leading, they don’t care that much, the title is just nice. L’Manberg cusses her out and promises to hold a grudge, but it’s all in good fun. After all, they’re just teens goofing around and playing. The clubs are again 4v4.
Dream tells the L’Manberg club that they can separate, sure… under one condition. They have to win the competition. If they lose, they have to rejoin the Dream Team club.
L’Manberg accepts, but come competition day… they lose. Tommy outright challenges Dream post awards to a speedrun competition for L’Manberg instead. …which Dream professionally competes in, and Tommy DOESN’T.
He loses, but he puts up a good fight despite having little to no actual practice put in, so Dream “grants” L’Manberg their “Independence”. (In this au, instead of being like… weirdly obsessive over Tommy, it’s a lot more “he sees himself in Tommy and wants to support/mentor him” and a “friendly rivalry” kind of deal bc its a damn HIGH SCHOOL AU)
So L’Manberg can be it’s own club! …Next year, when Tommy and Tubbo actually attend, since Wilbur and Fundy aren’t allowed a two person club.
About the AU -- Election Era
SO time skip! Congrats, everything up to now has been BACKSTORY. It’s now the next school year, with two main clubs (I’ve tried to keep them fairly balanced, which is why not all CCs are featured, sorry!)
Dream Team club:
Dream - junior
George - senior
Sapnap - junior
Eret - senior
Punz - junior
BBH - senior
Awesamdude - junior
Ponk - junior
L’Manberg club:
Wilbur - senior
Tommy - freshman
Tubbo - freshman
Fundy - sophomore
Schlatt - senior
Quackity - junior
Niki - sophomore
Jack - sophomore
(Also fun fact! Their grades are loosely based on the CCs actual ages! …Except Fundy, who got Baby-fied to fit the “Wilbur’s Kid” joke, and Eret bc it fit better to be the same age as Wilbur I thought. Oops HEKANDNSN)
So, for whatever Reason (listen this was an au I made in like one night when plagued with brainrot, it’s not all figured out), L’Manberg holds an election. Maybe it’s related to Wilbur wanting L’Manberg to be meaningfully different from Dream Team, maybe it’s a joke, idk!
…. SOMEHOW, Schlatt wins. Which ticks off Wilbur a lot. It’s his damn club, and the whole point was to avoid Americans, tf?? The two start to feud a lot and it threatens to split the club entirely via ppl taking sides. Worse, it means people aren’t practicing for the competition.
All while this is happening, there’s a new intrigue building. Dream catches word of an infamous player in the area, someone known to win entire competitions against teams of people all by HIMSELF. A man with bright bubblegum pink hair called Technoblade. That’s right, literal universe-assigned protagonist Techno. If Dream could enlist him, there’s no doubt in hell they’d be able to beat L’Manberg.
L’Manberg hears of him too and works to try and enlist him as well, so he basically gets courted by both clubs trying to get him to play for them to mixed results. He’s pretty chill vibin by himself, so what’s in it for him? (….I don’t know, remember how this is a WIP au I worked on once?)
Eventually, a teacher named Phil (who’s been the honorary sponsor of the L’Manberg club) gets pissed at Schlatt and Wilbur’s fighting and bans both from competing (aka this AUs version of them dying). Which fucking SUCKS for L’Manberg. They’re now going 6v8 with a wildcard player who’s undeclared on which side he’ll join, if at all.
… honestly, that’s as far as I got. Theoretically, Techno joins L’Manberg to reflect Pogtopia and they win. I never had plans to go into s2 due to its darker theme, but there are definitely changes that could (and might?) be made for the s1 plot just so it flows better.
I already had to shift Wil and Schkatt’s “deaths” to fit, unless I were to have them LITERALLY make a new club. Maybe Schlatt uses his power as Club President to make them work with Dream Team (to the point it basically merges the clubs). Sure, they might be guaranteed to win now but it removes the competition and fun as well as the spirit of OG L’Manberg. So then Wilbur rebels and makes his own club AGAIN, calling it Pogtopia with the intent to get L’Manberg back. Then Techno, intrigued with this group of like 2-3 ppl going against a team of like 13ish people, decides to join them. Idk! Alternative possible plot based more closely on s1 I guess!
I’m gonna add a list of characters in full with their age, their club, and what they compete in (if it’s already brainstormed, most ppl are unknown) below
Character List
dream (DT) - junior - speedrunning
george (DT) - senior - coding/tech and invention
sapnap (DT)- junior -
eret (DT) - senior -
wilbur (LM) - senior - rhythm game/guitar hero-esque
tommy (LM) - freshman - (possibly pick up speed running during election arc?)
tubbo (LM) - freshman - chess
fundy (LM) - sophomore - coding/tech and invention
schlatt (LM) - senior - he never actually declares what he plans to play and then gets banned anyway, aka no game kekw
quackity (LM)- junior - dance
niki (LM) - sophomore -
jack (LM) - sophomore-
punz (DT) - junior -
bbh (DT) - senior -
awesamdude (DT) - junior -
ponk (DT) - junior
technoblade (SOLO) - junior - multiple categories
FINAL BIT
here’s some scraps for ppl who know Asagao already as well as small bits I didn’t bother to write up any further
- Karl, much like Mai, is ALSO aware of the 4th wall and has time travel powers because of it.
- Purpled (undecided if he’s a solo player like Techno or has his own team he competes with that’s not a formal club) plays Literally Bedwars in competitions
- Callahan is the Dream Team club sponsor, Phil is L’Manberg’s club sponsor
- Karlnapity is real and canon bc I say so
- both for balance/laziness, every person only competes in one category. also bc it makes Techno that much more Protagonist-y that he does
- I made this AU in like February man idk I’m just vibin
- Fuck I never even included Ranboo huh
