there is a difference between being born to a throne, maliciously vying for a throne, stealing a throne, and having a throne thrust upon you when you are already in the midst of an identity crisis. And I fear Loki's place in the line of succession has people unable to differentiate between any of these
#you can't really argue he planned the extent of Thor's downfall#that was all Odin#Loki didn't force Thor to invade Jotunheim he isn't even the one who gave Thor the idea -- Thor did that all on his own!#that he was doing waswasa @ thor didn't help but wasn't really crime worthy on its own#Thor himself took time convincing the other warriors to be okay with the trip despite the treason and danger involved#like. what. Thor can't differentiate good advice from bad and is emotionally volatile and reckless and that's Loki's fault?#THOR was the one who got them past Heimdall too#the entire ordeal inadvertently showed off the favouritism Thor was receiving in comparison to Loki#even though Loki was the one supposedly so easily influencing Thor to such an extent#call Thor a puppet the way he--wait. no. that sounds weird. uhhhhh#you get the point#people will claim Loki was all up in there rearranging Thor's mental processes to cause his downfall#when really it was Loki doing the bare minimum instigation and watching things only devolve from there#because Thor WAS reckless and immature ?? and he WAS quick to anger and enjoyed exerting his power with violence ??#Loki didn't STEAL THE THRONE FROM THOR he literally just is implied to undermine the coronation#that's not even confirmed but we assume it's true that he let the frost giants in near the casket etc.#Loki has his own actual crimes that he did against Thor and hugging his bro's arm and saying 'you're soooooo strong and correct' was not on#even if you manage to argue Loki was cheering Thor on for the invasion (he wasn't) it was clearly to dob Thor in with Odin#which he did when he had some guard inform Odin#that Odin's chosen punishment was for Thor's disobedience aside stop blaming Loki for the damage ODIN inflicted on him#focus on Loki making up lies to Thor about how Odin died instead like at least Loki DID SOMETHING for that#you can even ascribe as evil a motive as you want there bc Loki was slipping fr#twirling his hair and telling Thor he's smarter about the realm's safety than the king was on the normal scale#you want to talk morals go look at how eager Thor was to invade mass destroy and massacre in the other realm#and expected Odin to 'finish them off! together!' bc he was power high on whatever bloodlust pheromones battle apparently imitates for him#sigh. this is why you can't have nice things Thor. no Loki you're barely any better. sit down. have a cookie.

When the blinding pulsations of light which had enveloped her receded, she saw some white spots dancing in her vision. Cora blinked them away just before she lifted her gaze to peer up at Heimdall, who wore a rather smug expression. After the moment it took her to step forward, her legs slightly wobbly from transport, she realized she'd mistaken his expression. It was one of pride.
Instead of giving his usual greeting or one of the witty remarks they'd come to trade at each meeting, he simply inclined his head and informed her, "I knew you would stop this."
"I'm glad one of us did," Cora said with a smile, her gaze faltering toward the stretch of the BiFrost and the golden palace beyond. "Updates?"
Heimdall shook his head faintly and followed her stare. "I have not seen Thor since he returned, nor Loki. Then again, I am instructed not to leave my post unless certain circumstances occur." He paused before adding, "I do know that Odin has been awakened."
Cora paled faintly. "What do you think that means for Loki? Do you think…"
"I doubt anything has been done yet. The Allfather's actions are rarely so immediate," the gatekeeper said calmly as he stepped off his pedestal, his sword giving a metallic whine as he removed it and sheathed it at his hip. "Especially when a key member of the trial party is not yet present."
"What do you mean?" Cora asked, leaning her head back to keep her eyes on his.
"A certain circumstance of my leave is imminent," he replied ambiguously before translating, "and I am to take you to Odin."
"Why?"
"I was not told, but it is not for any malicious purpose. It is likely…"
When he trailed off, Cora's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Likely what?"
"Given their past, it is likely a gesture toward you. For you to say goodbye." Cora's jaw locked at that and she put her eyes to the iridescent bridge beneath their feet. There was nothing really for her to say and, even if she could've thought of something, she wasn't sure her voice would stay steady enough to carry it. Heimdall sensed her unease and asked, "He seems changed."
"He was never 'evil'… But he made some terrible choices, did some terrible things, I won't excuse him of that…," Cora murmured, sighing as she shook her head incrementally. "But whether or not he was 'bad' doesn't matter now. Does it?"
"I wouldn't imagine so. But I saw what he supplied in Midgard," Heimdall said quietly. Cora nodded in a daze; at least someone here apart from Thor and herself knew what had transpired.
The guards parted the golden doors when they arrived and she got a couple of strange looks from them when they took in her attire. She supposed the skintight SHIELD uniform wasn't exactly normal coverage here. Their footsteps pounded faintly against the glistening floor and being back in Asgard proved to be quite the strange sensation to Cora. Especially because this time when Heimdall brought her into the fortress, she wouldn't be met by Frigga's kind, but queenly, company. The realization provided her with a quiet, hollow ache just above her stomach.
To her surprise, the guards at the entrance to the throne room stood beside already open doors and she was able to look directly through the arch to the golden throne before the dais, Odin sitting upon it once again. For a moment, she entertained the thought that this was, once again, Loki, but she was well-aware that this time, that would not be the outcome. The nearly indifferent look in Odin's aged stare confirmed that.
She continued to walk forward after Heimdall left her side, remaining just inside the throne room doorway. Cora's eyes fell to a guard at Odin's right side when the old man turned to speak to him, her gaze following him to the far door before it closed behind him. When she looked back at Odin, the Allfather was watching her thoughtfully.
When he finally spoke, his voice seemed more gravelly than she remembered. "I suppose I should begin by thanking you." Cora started to reply, but no sound fell from her lips and she simply stood there until Odin chuckled a few seconds later. "I feel that I know what you will say. That it was not your doing that caused the universe to keep on living, that it was your combined efforts with the other Midgardian warriors, my son, and his brother that saved our worlds as we know them."
"Something like that," Cora replied with a slightly embarrassed smile.
He shook his head slightly as he leaned forward and Cora found herself walking closer to the greying Asgardian king as he began to speak again. "Prophecies are made for all of time. A very few in many a millennia are recorded and revered as our eventual histories. Many assume a prophecy is unchangeable, unavoidable. That time is a linear path."
"Even here?"
"Indeed, despite our exponentially longer standing within the universe, there are some things that we share and that is a wariness of time, and a fear of its end."
At that moment, Thor stepped into the throne room after receiving a verbal summons from the guard who had left to ascend the staircase and fetch both princes from their chambers. It had seemed upon arrival that any imprisonment of Loki—at least at that moment—seemed useless. Not only was Thor now solidly on his brother's side, but this new view of Loki in a turnaround from rage and genocide caused conflict in the man who had raised them both. He saw the change in their relationship and dispositions and it caused him slight unease because he did not yet understand the full nature of it.
Loki did come in beside Thor in handcuffs, however. Not the full chained harness he'd been restrained by in his original return to Asgard after the mayhem he'd caused in the Midgardian sector called New York, but enough that, if needed, he could be easily put down.
Odin watched both men in his peripheral, not taking his immediate gaze from the barely half-blooded girl in front of him although he studied all three of them in thoughtful silence. Cora seemed to notice someone had entered the room, but she was keeping her attention upon him out of propriety, her features set into a slimly expressive arrangement of composure. He saw beneath that though, to the uncertainty. Thor wore a similar expression, though his was more stonily exuded as he regarded his father upon the throne. Loki's eyes went to Odin, then to Cora, lingered a moment, and then moved back to Odin, seeming guarded and simply waiting for what he thought to be the inevitable.
Behind her, Cora heard the faint echoes of footsteps, but she kept her eyes trained upon Odin out of respect and interest in where he was going with this. The Allfather took a deep breath and continued with renewed importance, "Prophecies may be wrong. The promise of the end of the Nine felt imminent because it was so detailed and so absolute from being constructed so long ago. Eons before this day. Prophecies may also change due to events leading up to them. Variables not originally included in the original scry."
"That seems so absurd though, if that's the case," Cora couldn't help but notice, tilting her head subconsciously. "To predict something so far ahead without the basis of how time would change the circumstances."
"It does, does it not?" Odin agreed quietly, his lips a thin line. "However, the variables didn't waver until just a short time ago. One and then another. The second of the variables to come about was Thanos. He was never intended to become a part of what we call the Ragnarök, the 'twilight of the gods' and the end of the nine realms in their entirety. His interference and rush of the event caused the unfolding of those events to change."
"Was that why he didn't succeed?"
"It was part of the reason. You were the other."
Cora's jaw dropped slightly. "But… Why me?"
"It became vastly apparent after consulting the ancestral documents in the library and the circumstances surrounding the Ragnarök that something was not matching up. The beings meant to bring about the apocalypse were more or less falling into their places… Except, it seems, for one." He didn't need to say who. "Everything was progressing as anticipated until, what I can understand, is one singular moment: the moment Loki let go of Mjolnir at the BiFrost ledge and was cast into the residual energy still lingering near the observatory, which had recently returned Thor from Midgard."
Cora's eyes widened marginally. In the few times they'd discussed how he'd managed to make it to Earth, he'd never mentioned that his trip had been unintentional. And also an act of defeat. Odin continued, "Such a tiny moment in our millennia of existence and yet it all came down to that moment for a new wave of events to begin turning into motion. Had he held on, both Thor and Loki would have likely been pulled to safety, Loki imprisoned or given a second chance, and life progressing onward as intended. Alternatively, his choice to hold on could have pulled both brothers into the void." The Allfather made a slightly impatient gesture with his hand before looking intently at Cora. "Despite the numerous possibilities, Loki let go and that choice led him to you."
"It was that simple?" Cora asked with a faint frown. "A coincidence?"
"Very little can be left to coincidence," Odin said sagely as his gaze moved to reach over her head. "I remain uncertain of how it was done, but your meeting changed the fate of the realms and the both of you, as well." Cora paused and looked over her shoulder to follow his gaze, finding Thor and Loki standing ten paces or so behind her with guards on either side. Loki looked at her briefly before glancing back up at Odin, wearing the most pristine pokerface Cora had ever seen. It made her a little sick. "All that remains of this twist of destiny…is a resolution to the remainder of a sentence."
Cora felt like she'd been punched in the gut, but in the same instant, she was angry she felt surprised at all. Odin was, at times, fair, but he was equally unforgiving. It was obvious that this was what would become of Loki's return, she'd just been stupid enough to be optimistic.
She heard a faint rattle of the chains on Loki's handcuffs as he and Thor stepped forward. "Father," Thor greeted Odin a bit curtly, standing on his brother's other side.
Odin watched them a moment before speaking to Cora without directly looking at her. "I will address the second party now."
Cora grumbled audibly, but stepped back a bit to present the brothers with space in position to Odin's throne, standing near where they'd stood just a moment before.
Once she'd made her retreat, the Allfather continued. "In the last time we spoke, you had managed to make off with your Midgardian goat and the Aether into the Dark World," he said matter-of-factly, but there was underlying upset in his voice that signaled a punishment to be made.
"Her name is Jane," Thor enunciated with restrained anger, adding quietly afterward, "and she is not a goat."
"Enough," Odin ordered and his eldest quieted out of reflex, looking all the more angry that he did so. "Though you were successful in your endeavors…eventually…you went against my word. You endangered the bloodline and the Nine a thousand times over by separating yourself from Asgard's defenses. And then you…" He'd moved his gaze to Loki. "You have committed multiple accounts of treason, not to mention acts of attempted tyranny, theft, running rogue, defiance of direct orders, subduing and impersonating the sovereign ruler of Asgard, and, of course, mass genocide in Midgard. These acts are unforgivable and no amount of justice you returned to your name in the path of Thanos in these past days may erase these crimes from your history. Do you understand?"
Thor shifted his weight forward as he moved to interject, but Odin silenced him with one look. Cora saw the slight fall in Loki's shoulders as he replied calmly, "I understand." She understood the nearly imperceptible lax in his posture to not be a sign of defeat, but a somber hope that the following decree would be one of execution. Loki would rather die than rot in a cell all over again, especially after having been free for just a while longer.
Odin watched him for a solid minute before leaning back in his throne and continuing, "Therefore, your sentence still stands. The punishment, however, I feel must be taken further. For actions past your original imprisonment."
This is it, Cora thought with some despair as it all became startlingly real in a matter of seconds. She couldn't take her eyes off Loki's back, off the armored plating on his attire. Her heart hit her ribs with every palpitation and she felt like she was starving for breath when she was clearly breathing. If it's a life sentence, make it painless. If he has to die… I hope it's quick. The simple thought of Loki falling under an ax sent chills and genuine pain through her bones. How did I get this hooked? I thought I was tougher than this.
As if he knew her inner turmoil, Loki turned his head just enough so he could see her in his peripheral. He only looked at her for a couple of seconds, tops, but it was sufficient, it seemed. For whatever his reason was for doing it. All three of them, along with the guards and Heimdall nearby, looked to Odin and waited while he stared down at Loki, pondering something the lot of them could only guess at.
Odin nodded a fraction and said decidedly, "Banishment."
The shock was palpable in the room as Odin's word passed through, bouncing off the walls to echo through the doors. "Father?" Thor inquired quietly, breaking the silence that followed.
"Loki, you are hereby banished from Asgard. No longer will you wreak havoc upon this realm and its brothers. For the length of my rule—as it will become Thor's in time—you are not to cross through these golden gates but to leave this day." Odin turned a piercing gaze over to Thor and informed him, "I have left Loki in your charge many a time and each time has failed, therefore I will hand over that burdensome duty to another." That was when he glanced past them once again. "Cora of Midgard. It is unfair of me to request something so grandiose of you, but the incompetence of my heir when it comes to the man he calls his brother is extreme. Would you take this charge and be certain he does not cause more danger to the realms?"
Cora, like the others, was in a silent state of shock, but soon came back to herself long enough to read Odin's face. He looked severe, but beyond that, there was an endeavor to make amends. Holding down a small smile, Cora inclined her head. "I will." She was unable to resist adding on, "…If I must." She just wished she could see Loki's reaction to her elaboration.
All business, Odin nodded and looked back to Loki and Thor. "You remain my heir," he said firmly to Thor and Cora remembered the Odin who had told Thor to go on to Midgard had, in fact, been Loki with a takeover plan in mind. He pursed his lips faintly before finishing his point with, "However, I would dare to think that my lifetime may have yet a few centuries more within it. At best, it will have one, which I can imagine would be long enough to spend…Jane's lifetime with her in Midgard."
Hope must've alighted in Thor's features because Odin swiftly continued to declare, "After which, you will return to this throne and take your rightful place. You will be king in my stead. And, perhaps…" He glanced toward Loki with a surprising amount of respect and subdued optimism for his character. "Perhaps you will find council in family."
Loki's eyes widened at last, as he'd kept cool throughout Odin's decrees. It was that final word that hit the hardest where he thought he could no longer ache and he found the breath to—albeit begrudgingly—reply, "I… Fa—"
"I care not for your excuses, Loki, my decision is final. You must endure the results of your actions, not one word you say will change my mind," Odin cut him off and Cora was hard-pressed not to collapse from knee-weakening relief at the absurdity that was Odin trying to be generous.
The Allfather relaxed after that, giving a nod for them to go. "I have said my fill. I will see you as you see fit." He'd directed the final statement to Thor and though Cora knew Loki and Odin were still painfully estranged, she couldn't help but feel sad that this would probably be the last time Loki would ever see the only father he'd ever known.
However, Odin was doing him a kindness. He was doing all of them a kindness by allowing both Thor and Loki to return to Midgard. Asgard needed to know that its greatest defier was punished and gone and it was Odin's duty to make it so, but the extent of his concealed warmth was more than welcome. When it became clear that it was time for them to go, a guard stepped forward and unlocked Loki's cuffs, taking the metal away as Loki ran his pale, slender fingertips over his wrists.
He and Thor both turned to walk back toward the throne room entrance, both looking to Cora immediately. The three shared knowing looks before she turned to walk out with them, glancing over her shoulder to Odin and sending a grateful smile before following them out.
Odin watched them go until the golden doors were shut behind Heimdall, who left as well. "Prosper, my sons," he said softly beneath his breath.
Tumblr media
"I could pass out from relief," Cora said once the doors thudded shut in their wake, running a hand through her hair as she attempted to pass through the dazed feeling that fogged her brain.
"I would prefer if you didn't," Loki remarked, glancing toward the guards at the entrance. His gaze was suspicious, like he expected to be tricked. Cora would love to meet the person who could trick the "trickster god." Then she realized she'd tricked him plenty and felt herself ascend to a new state of accomplishment.
"You better behave," she warned him amiably. "I'm the one who's going to kick your ass now if you don't. And I'm pretty sure Thor would back me up on it, regardless."
"Anytime, little sister," Thor chuckled, grinning when Loki gave a withering glance between them. He glanced past Cora and she turned to follow his gaze as a few servants rolled two carts forward.
"What is this?" Loki asked and Cora could have smacked him for the condescending tone that came out of him which could only belong to a boy raised in royalty.
"Payment for her services and some for you to take along to Midgard," the smallest of the servants said, bowing his head.
"‘Payment’?" Cora repeated in confusion, glancing at the covered cart as one of the other servants flipped the corner back to show her what they meant. Her mouth went dry as she saw the cart was brimming with gold. "I… I can't possibly—"
"Yes, you can," Loki murmured near her ear. He leaned up before glancing toward the stairway. "My belongings?" he inquired toward the servants.
"They have been left for you to collect," the small one spoke up again, seeming to be the only one willing to address the banished prince. "And only what is necessary may go, so much as you may carry. Those were our instructions to pass along."
Loki regarded them briefly before nodding to himself. "I will return presently," he informed them.
"Your guardian must accompany you," the tallest servant piped up with an edge to his tone.
Loki's eyes narrowed faintly on the servant and he bristled before exhaling slowly and continued walking without turning around, even as he said softly, "Come along, Cora."
Cora frowned, but followed him up the winding stairwell to the next floor, pausing outside his chamber door when he walked inside. She'd intended to wait outside to give him his space, but a sidelong glance from a guard down the hall caused her to grimace and follow him in, shutting the door behind her. "Guard was giving me the eye, sorry," she explained as she leaned against the closed door.
"It is the norm. I don't mind either way," he said simply from across the room as he pulled a leather knapsack from inside an armoire. It looked small, like he'd used it when he was a child and didn't have much else to choose from now. Cora glanced around while she stood there, taking in the green embellishments in the otherwise gold and black room. It made sense; green seemed to be his color of choice and it suited his personality. What really made her feel like this room was his, however, was the desk by the window, overflowing with old books. It struck the right chord like nothing else in the room that was triple the size of her apartment quite managed to do.
She made an effort to not watch what he was doing just in case he wanted some privacy. It was uncertain when he'd be coming here next and she didn't want to encroach on this revisiting, despite not being able to wait outside without being judged by nearby guards. When she heard him coming back across the room, she looked up at him, noting that he now held the pack in his hands and some garments over his arm that he opted not to leave without. He also held what appeared to be a gold helmet with enormous horns under his arm.
"Is that Asgardian couture?" Cora asked lightly. Loki rolled his eyes and swung the helmet around to dangle it by one of its curved horns in his hand, holding it over her head before sliding it into place. It was heavy and hurt her neck a bit, but he seemed to get a kick out of it. "Well? Am I petrifying?"
"Truly," Loki chuckled as the helm slid over Cora's eyes. He plucked it off her head before it could hurt her and nodded for her to get the door so they could leave.
"Pfft, what, not even going to try to ravage me now that we're alone in your room?" she remarked sarcastically as she turned to get the door.
Loki arched a brow, a mischievous gleam hitting his emerald eyes. "Would you like me to?"
"Shush," she smirked, nodding for him to pass through the door first. "Let's go."
"You made the suggestion in the first place," he protested before walking into the hall, the both of them bickering amongst themselves as they went back down the stairway.
Tumblr media
"That's it, then?" Steve asked after Cora had explained the whole story of what had happened in Asgard to him after their arrival back to SHIELD headquarters. "He's just going to stay here?"
"Until Odin's off the throne, yeah, I guess," Cora said, a mug of tea in her hands that she was just allowing to steam while she talked. They'd gotten back to headquarters after saying their goodbyes to Heimdall at the gates. Sindri and Brokkr had apparently left a scabbard for the claymore they'd made her with him to give to her, which she had sitting with her bag near her feet. She currently sat on one of the couches in a lounge on the eastern side with Steve, Bruce, and Natasha, waiting for final preparations to be made before she headed out.
Phil had volunteered to sort through the Asgardian gold with a few other knowledgable agents who had an idea of collectible worth, since his own knowledge in that department more or less started and ended with World War II Captain America memorabilia.
She'd given them permission to use the artifacts to make the beginnings of Asgardian exhibits in the American Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian, while just keeping the majority of gold bars in the cart for them. Those alone would convert into hundreds of thousands at least. She felt sick that she was being given these riches, but she couldn't help but be excited, too; she'd be able to pay off her student loans at last, get amazing care for her grandmother, buy a car that didn't have an arrow embedded permanently in the door, and even get a house without annoying roommates… The possibilities were glorious.
"Isn't that kind of surprising though?" Natasha asked conversationally, pulling Cora out of her thoughts. "From the little bits I'd heard about him, I'd figured he'd have more… Godly wrath, I guess."
"I don't think anyone anticipated him letting Loki off like that… At least as much as he could."
"It's good that he did, I think," Steve ventured bravely after a moment, earning a couple of startled glances from his colleagues. "I get the impression that he's really changed."
"I think he has, too," Cora murmured. She wasn't sure if he'd so much changed as finally found some closure in his past grievances, but it didn't matter. He was figuring himself out and that made her pretty happy for him. The only part she wasn't sure about is how he felt being stuck with her. They'd not talked about that arrangement and she didn't know if this was a blessing to her, but a curse to him. It would make sense if it were, but she tried to not read into it too much. She supposed she'd find out in time.
"Cora?"
She looked toward the door, seeing Loki there with an impatient pinch between his brows. "Agent Coulson has finished converting your funds. He said if you gave him your account information, he would just forward it there." With the way he recited the words, he was fairly certain he was just repeating what Phil had said and had not a clue what it meant. "Is there anything else you must do?"
"I…," Cora paused thoughtfully as she stood up. "I guess not."
It felt odd to be leaving headquarters after all the time she'd spent there on and off by that time and she wasn't quite sure how to react to the departure. When she left the lounge with Loki, Natasha, Steve, and Bruce all accompanied her down to the main floor, where they met Fury and the others at the elevator. Cora walked over to write down her bank account information for Phil, leaving Loki momentarily by himself. He glanced over warily when Fury cleared his throat.
"We thank you for your help during the Ragnarök and, though I can't and won't offer you a position on the Avengers Initiative, I could extend an honorary title your way."
Loki's eyes narrowed a little out of disbelief. "Are you going to hand me a trophy as well?"
Fury sighed and muttered, "Last time I try to be nice to you, you little shit," as Cora rejoined them. "You, however, have my biggest thanks. And we'd love to have you wear the emblem officially."
Cora's eyes widened with surprise and she quickly started to decline. "Oh, I—"
"The benefits are great. We're great. The job's great. You… You probably also need a job, don't you?"
Cora started to argue that she actually had a job, which was what brought her to New York, but she paled when she realized that had been months ago and she'd completely disappeared without notice. The apartment was probably trashed, too, thanks to Lacey. "Oh, dammit…," she murmured despairingly and Loki looked rather alarmed at seeing her become so upset so quickly, something he'd not seen yet.
"Come on, you've already got the uniform," Phil encouraged with his usual smile. "And you've got…a lot to hold you over for a while. But you might want to take a position out of interest, even."
His pause on the terms of her bank balance made her wonder just how much he'd managed to get her for those gold bars, but she asked instead, "Would I be a field agent then?"
"I'd let you pick your spot," Fury said honestly. "Within reason."
Cora smiled a little at that and shrugged. "Sure. I'll look into it."
"We'll find a time to talk it out," Fury confirmed afterward, cracking a slight smile. "Now go home and put your feet up. You've been through hell and back this past year."
"Huh. Wonder whose fault that was," she remarked, grinning when Fury rolled his eyes. "I'll see you guys soon. It's been awesome. Hey, wait, where's Thor?"
"Already back in London," Loki replied with a roll of his eyes. "Supposedly they are planning to move back this way in the near future. At least, that's what he's hoping to convince Jane of."
Cora smiled, rather hoping that he managed to do just that. With one last goodbye, she got into the elevator with Loki and headed down to the parking garage, where they slid into one of the hefty black SUVs and were driven through the city, away from the disrepair until they pulled into the lot of her apartment complex a twenty minute-long drive away. The roads were nearly empty with the week's events and a few lockdowns still in place while SHIELD worked on calming the world down from its state of Ragnarök shock.
They were left standing in front of the sky-high complex and Cora watched the SUV speed away before looking up at Loki instead, her brow creasing thoughtfully. "So…"
"So, indeed," Loki murmured, looking down at her.
Cora hesitated before smiling impishly. "Want to drop off your stuff and get some bagels?"
Loki stared at her lengthily before smiling and placing his helmet under his left arm, freeing up his right to hook around her shoulders and tug her close. He dropped a gentle kiss to her forehead and murmured, "I'm never living that down, am I."
"Nope. I'm hungry though, so follow me," she smirked, taking his hand in hers and towing him along as she set off toward the entrance to the building, keeping in mind one of her favorite bakeries nearby; she was fully intending on a lazy day today, but perhaps a house-shopping/debt-paying day tomorrow, now that she could afford it. It was an ordinary sort of plan, but it felt extraordinary to her and she was incredibly pleased with the prospects. Maybe because she had him along for the ride now. Things just felt right for the first time she could presently remember.
Loki was in much the same state of rightness, though he would die before he admitted it. He watched the woman in front of him, listening to her explain her roommate situation and muse over plans she had, things they needed to do, and it was a mundane sort of existence compared to the future he'd repeatedly set out to gain for himself, but this was oddly so much more satisfying. Not the lifestyle, but just being there with her, specifically. No one else could have made this life appealing to him, he didn't think.
And despite his tumultuous attempts at rebellion and asserting his right to leadership time and time again in the recent past, Loki was more than content to let her lead on, and found himself genuinely happy for the first time in ages to have the privilege of stepping in someone’s shadow, so long as it was hers.

(For this)
Oooh, man, this is such an interesting one!

It wasn’t that strange, really, to find Xehanort still in the classroom long after the others had left.  It was a little strange to find him there without Eraqus, a textbook open in his lap, chessboard completely absent.  The boy leaned against the window, staring at the slowly darkening world outside, and Odin hesitated, wondering if he should ask or if he should leave him be.  In the end, his concern won out, and he cleared his throat, approaching quietly.  “What are you still doing here, Xehanort?”
Xehanort barely reacted; his shoulder twitched a little, but for the most part he remained remarkably still.
“Wouldn’t you prefer to be spending time with your friends?”  Odin peered down at the textbook curiously.  Xehanort had opened the book to a section near the front; his hands and arms were mostly covering the pages, fingers curled tightly, but Odin thought he could make out the faint sketch of a building.
“Just…thinking,” Xehanort answered finally, voice distant.  “I was reading ahead.”
“I see,” Odin said, even though he wasn’t really sure he did.  He wasn’t sure what else he was supposed to say, though, and so after a beat of silence he went back to his desk—returning to collect tests, which he was embarrassed to admit he’d forgotten earlier.  “I wouldn’t stay here too much longer; good study habits are important, but so is rest.”
            “Right.”
The silence was filled for a moment with rustling papers, Odin carefully sticking the tests into his bag, then double-checking to make sure he hadn’t forgotten anything.  Xehanort broke it after a moment with a tentative question: “Hey.  What do you know about the Age of Fairytales?”
It was a question Odin got often, so he supposed he shouldn’t have been surprised when Xehanort asked.  Still, it gave him pause, because the boy had asked so quietly, like his mind was somewhere else.
Xehanort half-glanced back towards him, and his voice was a little more present as he added, “It’s what I was reading about.”
That didn’t feel like the whole truth—but it didn’t feel like something Odin could really call out as a lie, either.  “The Age of Fairytales was a time before the worlds as we know them existed.  Much of it is shrouded in myth; we know very little factual information about this time, with most of what we’ve obtained passed down as legends.  Scholars have been trying to pick them apart for years, to separate fact from fiction, but the unfortunate truth is there’s very little solid information about that time.”
“But we know some things, right?”
Odin moved closer; Xehanort’s arms had shifted enough so that he could finally see the drawing.  “You’re reading about Daybreak Town.”
            Xehanort was quiet.
Odin hummed quietly, studying the sketch.  “It is true that we’ve been able to put certain ideas together.  Daybreak Town, for instance, is a place we’re sure once existed—we’ve found some of the ruins, underneath Scala ad Caelum itself.  We know that a great Keyblade War occurred, and suspect that it was what split the world, based on remnants we’ve found in other locations.  We know that the first recorded Master is Master Ephemer, the founder of our world—but that there were Masters before him, their names lost to time.  It is a very…tricky thing, to try to unravel, but can also be quite fascinating.  I’m glad you’re taking an interest.”
“Master Ephemer wasn’t the only one.”
The statement caught Odin off guard, and he studied Xehanort curiously.  “Have you studied this before?”  He was pretty sure that Xehanort came from off-world—but then again, he’d found his way here on his own.  It wasn’t impossible that a Keyblade wielder had raised him.
“No.  Not exactly.  But I heard…stories.  From my mentor.”
Definitely another wielder, then.  “He wasn’t,” Odin agreed quietly, “but he was the only one who made it through the fall.  The others were scattered—to where, we don’t know.”
Xehanort nodded, but there was something pinched in his expression, a grief there that seemed much older than him.
            “Are you doing alright, Xehanort?”
Xehanort’s fingers traced across the sketch.  “Yeah,” he whispered, and if Odin listened carefully, he thought his voice sounded strained.  “It just…reminded me of home.”

Ivy finds out a little bit more than expected.
Ships: Lyrassir/Ivy/Raphaella/Marius (tho Marius is just implied tbh)
Gace myself the challenge of "Don't use the same pronouns for Lyf twice"
While reading please invision @/reegis 's designs <3
Also @hurtmionedanger you were excited so-
Ivy was not having the best day. Or, well, couple of months really.
Both Lyf and Raph had been having near constant nightmares that Ivy couldn't soothe, and though Marius was mostly helpful, he could only do so much. The only information she had was that both were having nightmares of their families and death. So, Ivy did what she always did; took to her files to find answers for these nightmares so she could be better equipped. It always went at least somewhat well!
It wasn't going well.
Ivy was reviewing her files over and over, but coming up empty. Sure, it helped that she had her guilty pleasure playlist on, but she was still stumped. She hummed along to bubblegum bitch whilst translating old norse and copying pieces of asgardian police reports to a document full of clues.
She'd figured out that Lyfrassir wasn't a midgardian when they were back in Yggdrasil, and she'd recently gotten the information that he was half jötunn, which were normally restricted to the planet Jötunheim, however that clearly wasn't the case for her dear (ex-)inspector. So pan must have at least one partially non-Jötunn parent, which made the scope both bigger and smaller for potential family members.
Gently singing Dollhouse (one of these days she was going to cover some of these old earth songs even if Johnny complained), she finds an… interesting picture.
"D-O-L-L-H-oh, what's this?" She mutters, examining the photo.
It's distorted and damaged, but nothing she can't fix with some time. The caption reads, "Family Photoshoot Before The Trip!". It shows three people, two adults that are sloppily scribbled out, and a child. The adults are standing on either side of said child, who has the biggest and proudest grin on their face. That child is, as expected, Lyfrassir Edda. This is what Ivy thought she would find, what she hoped to find, even. But this isn't what catches her off guard.
What makes her falter is the fact that the adults are wearing Midgardian Resistance uniforms.
Now, she'd known Lyf had asgardian blood in her, xe were relatively open with the fact even in Yggdrasil, so ae being a child from the time before Odin fucked it all up with her train made sense, given asgardian life spans. But a child of the midgardian resistance? She hadn't even considered it, let alone had a percentage in place. The up-tight cop who had seemed just as pro-asgardian as the other cops (an issue Ivy and the others in jail had known would be worked past), was from the resistance. Okay. Sure.
Ivy set the photo up for restoration, to find out who Lyf's parents were, and got to looking through Raph's oldest sketches to distract herself.
There were a lot of designs for medical stuff and toys, the latter likely due to her being younger when designing them. What's interesting is that Ivy finds designs for wings. No, not wings… wing extensions, designed for underdeveloped wings, sort of mobility aid for flight, with a note in Raph's handwriting on what seems to be the finalized version;
To my father,
I feel these new designs I've made could have massive impacts on life for people with conditions like mine. I hope that you might see the same potential in my work.
Your child, Icarus.
Icarus.
Oh.
It all starts to fall into place in Ivy's mind.
Raph would wake up screaming in the middle of the night, and would immediately check to make sure her wings were there, not letting anyone touch them. Of course she wouldn't let anyone touch her wings after those nightmares. Ivy could almost see what had happened in her mind, based on what she had heard of "Icarus", now Raphaella, and the records of Raph pre-mechanization flashing through her mind.
Wing Status: Cut Off At The Top Of Back
Nine words brought far too much anger than they should have, but Ivy didn't care. If they ever got back to The City, Ivy would like to personally strangle Daedalus-
Ding
Ah. The photo was restored. Well, it'd provide a good excuse for Ivy to calm down a bit. She viewed the newly restored image and-
......
.........
what the fuck.
why were Loki and Sigyn there.
what.
Ivy took a few moments to process before reflecting on the past few minutes and her newest data, before concluding she really didn't want to just walk away because what the Hel-
In all honesty, maybe she should have expected this. Maybe the utter disdain in "extorting quicker tyranny to midgard", and awe for Loki and Sigyn being on the Ratatosk that was shown in Lyf's voice in the original transmission should have given it away, but fuck it if Ivy wasn't shocked by it anyway-
Well. At least she could help her partner's with nightmares now...?

Higanbana Hime Chapter 5: Warring Storms
-Those against this marriage, both gods and humans, started to take notice of each other in the Shinto pantheon, both with a common goal in mind, stopping this marriage.
-While neither side was all that willing to work with the other, their common goal might have better results working together.
-Thus, Black Butterfly was born, humans were going around targeting places where both humans and gods frequented together, as friends or just visiting the same places, while the gods kept Zeus and the other gods busy with a flood of anonymous letters, sending them on wild goose chases.
-As the old saying went, ‘the enemy of my enemy if my friend’ and this group was just that, only they were fully prepared to throw each other under the bus if they felt like they were going to get into trouble.
-Kondo was tearing his hair out, being sent on goose chase after goose chase, the same for the other guards, and while they were gone, Black Butterfly would attack an undefended location.
-They finally got a break when some civilians called for the guards about an attack, but unlike before, where they would find nothing, there was a pile of men, all unconscious, with a note on top of the pile with Kondo’s name on it.
-He grabbed it and opened it as the guards were quick to arrest the attackers, finding more of the kunai in their possessions.
-Kondo smiled, for the first time in a few weeks before he tucked the note safely away in his jacket and helped the offenders be locked up.
-That evening, Kondo, Okita, Raiden, and Kojiro met at Raiden’s dojo, glad to see Shiva, Brahma, and Indra there as well, “Good you all need to see this!”
-Kondo pulled out the letter and slid it to Raiden who opened it, a huge grin stretching across his lips before he laughed loudly, holding his belly as his head tilted back.
-Kojiro took the letter from him and read it as Shiva leaned over, trying to read it but was unable to, seeing only a red flower at the bottom, a spider lily as Kojiro grinned, “They’ve pissed off Higanbana-hime.”
-Shiva remembers the name, it was a woman regarded as a vengeful spirit who would kill abusive husbands and carry out justice.
-Kondo nodded after downing a cup of sake to help his nerves, “She’s the one who took care of that group we caught this afternoon, she knocked them all out and left this letter for me to find.”
-Shiva then grinned, glad for the help, “So what’s happening now?” Okita was the one to grin next, almost ferally as they were interrogating the members of Black Butterfly and while some were tightlipped, others were singing and naming names, not wanting to get into trouble, and Brunnhilde was helping with the interrogations, getting the names of the gods to give to Odin and Zeus.
-It was two days letter when a letter arrived for Raiden, requesting a peaceful meeting of the gods and humans of Black Butterfly and the Hindu gods in five days’ time.
-Kondo believed it could be a trap, which Raiden agreed with, as did Shiva once he was informed, and after getting Zeus into the loop, they agreed to the meeting, hoping it was going to be peaceful.
-It was not peaceful.
-Everyone was in the massive dojo, sitting around in groups, Raiden, Kojiro, Kondo, and Okita were with the Hindu gods, while across the room was the four remaining gods and twenty-two humans who had not been taken into custody and punished for their crimes.
-The gods were furious that they had been ratted out by the humans, but many of the humans, in return, were ratted out by the gods, so they were at a stalemate now and needed to try to smooth things over.
-Zeus was fully prepared to just grab them and lock them up for their crimes, and Kondo wanted the same, as a few innocent people had been injured in the random attacks, not seriously, but they were still injured.
-Shiva was glaring lightly, sitting in front of the other male gods while his wives and Ganesha were at the back, protected just in case if they tried anything funny, with the other rikishi all behind them, everyone on guard.
-Raiden was the one to speak, as this was his dojo, his home, “You’re the ones who requested this meeting. Speak.” The humans were intimidated by this large man, knowing his reputation, while the gods glared lightly at his disrespect, but they couldn’t say anything as Shiva was right there!
-The talks started out peaceful, with the human men taking turns, explaining that they didn’t want any of their daughters to be lost to these gods, before Shiva spoke, “If we haven’t approached you, then it’s not your daughters we want.”
-The humans took offense to this, demanding to know why their daughters weren’t good enough which caused eyes to roll all around the room.
-The gods went next, saying that humans and gods shouldn’t be getting married to each other, despite the past, as humans were weak and didn’t deserve to marry the gods!
-Shiva chuckled, motioning a hand Raiden, “He ripped off three of my arms in our fight in Ragnarok, or did you forget that? And Kojiro was the one to defeat Poseidon of all gods! Humans are not weak by any means.”
-The gods got quickly irate, standing and threatening violence, before actually charging, ready for a fight, but Raiden, Rudra, Shiva, and Indra quickly took care of them, easily knocking them out. It was almost embarrassing how easily they were defeated.
-The humans of Black Butterfly were now panicking, but remained sitting, to save their own asses before Raiden spoke, “This marriage is going to happen, that big shot Zeus ordered it so, for the peace between humans and gods.”
-The refused to take these words, one of the men instantly glaring, “You’ll not have any of the woman in the Shinto pantheon! Go somewhere else! We won’t allow it! We’ll beat our daughters and any other daughters into refusing this marriage!”
-The three women gasped in horror, hearing this before the door opened behind these men who were all getting fired up, claiming the same thing.
-Raiden’s eyes were wide in fear but was smiling while Kojiro bit his bottom lip lightly.
-Standing there was a beautiful woman wearing a red and black hakama kimono with a black haori over the top, covered in red spider lilies, no shoes on her feet and a folded umbrella at her side.
-The Hindu gods could only gawk, seeing such a beautiful woman, long flowing black hair, brown eyes that almost looked red, and had such an air of elegance around her.
-Ganesha smiled brightly, seeing her, and Parvati looked between the two, her son and this woman before she realized that they had met before, curious on how they did.
-She opened her mouth, revealing a gentle voice, smooth and clear, “Who are you going to beat?”
-The main human who had been shouting turned with a fire, “Our daughters- do you have a problem with- HIGANBANA-HIME?!” the other humans turned in slow motion, horror on their faces as they had all been agreeing the same thing.
-Nadeshiko’s eyes narrowed slightly before all of the rikishi, Raiden, Kojiro, Kondo, and Okita all bowed deeply, speaking in unison, “‘Welcome- Higanbana-hime!’” which did spook the Hindu gods, in awe to see the respect this woman had.
-She rolled her eyes lightly, knowing their antics, as it wasn’t the first time she’s had to come and discipline men at Raiden’s place, knowing they were trying to psych out these other humans who had quickly dropped to their knees, bowing lowly, begging for her forgiveness.
-She glared down at them, her voice like ice, “Why should you get forgiveness, when you threatened your daughters and the daughters of others, I believe you said beating them, is that correct? So please tell me, why do you deserve forgiveness?”
-Shiva swallowed hard, this woman was amazing, she had an aura of authority around her, something the others were quick to notice, Kali had a hand over her mouth, “My-my, she’s quite strong, isn’t she?”
-She asked Kojiro this who just grinned lightly, amused by the situation, “You have no idea.” which made many of their eyes widen in shock.

Loki's New Pet
a/n: I feel interested in working on this - I wanted this to be a one-shot but I feel like there's more story that I can do with this. :)
Tumblr media
oOo
You grew up in the deepest, darkest recesses of Asgard. For a few centuries, you struggled to survive after your mother’s untimely death at the hands of Odin, to silence her. Hence your small, thin, and fragile frame due to malnutrition. You are mischievous, cunning, and sometimes a bit reckless. Some inn keeps have jokingly called you Ratatoskr - you are always anywhere interesting while sending and receiving information for the common folks in Asgard in exchange for money. Unbeknownst to everyone but you - you are an illegitimate daughter of Odin. You possess great agility and teleport yourself over small distances - a perfect trait for your other job - being a thief.
While drinking mead at the tavern, you have heard news that some thieves are planning to steal Loki’s scepter. It seems very powerful and would fetch a great prices once sold. You plan to do it first before anyone can get their filthy hands on the scepter. You smirked as you take a huge gulp.
You planned for days prior to your little heist. You exchanged information and blueprints of the castle. Reckless move indeed, but you won’t have to keep stealing anymore if you manage to succeed in this one. You remembered that the owner of this scepter is Prince Loki, god of mischief. He is a tough nut, but you are tougher - you are confident to be more mischievous than the god himself.
You decided that the best time to do this would be the day after the royal family leaves for an important engagement. Prince Loki has no use for the scepter and most likely would keep it in his room. You just need to make sure to grab it, and leave as soon as possible without leaving any trace.
Day of the heist
You memorized the schedule for the guards’ rotation, there is a small window during the transition where you can sneak in and teleport yourself to the nearest balcony of Prince Loki’s room.
Once you were inside, you were amazed by everything you see. Gold chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and expensive fabrics everywhere. There are books scattered all over and you want to take one for yourself. You slap yourself and remembered why you are here. You scanned the room and checked for any possible places where he can hide the scepter. You crawled underneath his bed and check the walls for hidden passages. You did not notice that the god of mischief was standing behind you.
“Are you looking for this, pet?” he said, raising the scepter a little over his head, which startled the living hel out of you and you managed to jump back on all fours like a cat cornered.
You were surprised to see the prince there. He was supposed to be away.
“Yes, now give it to me” so much for being discreet, so you lunged at him like a panther to grab the scepter. Your mistake - it was an illusion. You were surprised that he was beside you when you landed and kicked you in your gut, leaving you writhing on the floor.
“Oh, you little thief. Do you think it would be so easy to steal this - especially from me?” he mockingly teased you. You groaned and tried teleporting away, but he had conjured a magical barrier to keep you from leaving. The barrier pushed you back and you fall straight to the floor in front of Loki
“Interesting - not a lot of Asgardians have such power… Girl, what is your name” He looks straight into your eyes, seemingly straight to your soul.
You were weak, but you managed to answer him as he uses the tip of his scepter to lift your chin. “I’m y/n”
“Well. y/n… I will not summon the guards to take you to the dungeon, in exchange for a life of servitude to me. How does that sound?”
You glared at him, “I will not be your slave”
“I don’t think you have much of a choice, pet - either you die a prisoner or you will live as my slave here. You won’t need to scour the slums of Asgard for food, you will only need to be at my side at all times and serve me how I deem fit. You will receive my protection and be trained to fully harness your powers in exchange for your undying loyalty. Besides, I am sure that you will be executed as soon as Odin knows that you’re his illegitimate daughter”
You stared at him in silence for a while, weighing in the possibilities - the pros and the cons of being with the god of mischief, then you responded, “I accept your offer” you kneel in front of Loki, bowing your head, “I, y/n, offers my undying loyalty to you, Prince Loki”
“That’s more like it” he smirks at you. “Now, let’s get you cleaned up and dressed - this is no way to look being a companion to the prince”

❄️Frost Secrets from the Other Son
Chapter 2-Loki, Meet Lillian
Summary:
When a Midgardian journalist comes to Asgard to record the royal history for humans, her illicit affair with Loki threatens to unravel Odin’s family and reveal his true parentage...
Tumblr media
Literary smut ahead, haha
Chapter 2 Loki, Meet Lillian
Loki knew that he had already been talking and essentially flirting with many people at the solstice ball this evening; he arrived late, fresh from some other engagement off-world; he wasn’t entirely sure what was what since his return. He didn’t read memos or talk to any of the guilds who would have informed him of the importance of the evening solstice event. He knew bits and pieces of a human entourage of journalists arriving, but he assumed they would be much like the last humans who came by on official business, heady and boring.
He didn’t like this new arrangement; it was much more satisfying to roam Midgard and find the interesting humans when there were some, of course, which wasn’t all that often. Maybe every 200 years. But Loki had his sympathies, they had known about humans since the dawn of creation, and these lowly Midgardians just found out they weren’t alone…So he felt a bit guilty, and this woman before him was clearly just a human and out of her element.
He had noticed her though, her presence brought enough interest for him to conjure a way to meet her. This woman was delightfully curvy, the dress she was wearing was clearly ill sized, but this was to his liking. She was smart, he could tell, and he wondered what her role must be, maybe she was a messenger or sorts for the other human biographer?
The truth was, Loki didn’t always like himself, and he especially didn’t always like being the tortured eternal bachelor playboy. Maybe he would just be a tour guide tonight. Simple enough, no drama. He imagined himself much like the guarded palace he lived in.
He turned to Lillian and closed the heavy doors behind them. The thud brought Lillian’s attention to the fact that they were now alone in a massive dark library with only a few candles lit here and there, probably for a practical precaution against setting the whole room on fire, but the atmosphere it created was slightly romantic.
Loki, ever vigilant in his attempt at being professional, was walking through the aisles talking and talking about the origins of some of the collection, his large hands gently gliding past the many books. He took one off the shelf and brought it to Lillian. Holding the book to the candlelight, he showed her pictures that resembled the illuminated manuscripts she had once seen from the 14th century. More proof of Asgard’s status as horribly outdated.
Although she watched as Loki’s delicate fingertips luxuriously traced the book's spine as he placed it back on the shelf. Lillian sighed audibly. Was he seducing her with the Asgardian equivalent of encyclopedias?
Growing agitated with his pace, Lillian spoke, “Are you truly planning on giving me the complete tour of the royal library tonight?”
“I am already, aren’t I?” Loki said, spinning around with a wide grin.
“Too late.”
Lillian steadied herself. He was obviously playing this very cool. A little too cool for her Ohio, midwestern self, actually. Whether it was the trippy mead or just her own needs shaking her into a kind of space-drunk hybrid sobriety, she suddenly was unequivocal that she was a grown-ass woman. Indeed going further with this death metal-esque guy would be the kind of sabotage that might ruin this massive opportunity she had been given. She was also free to sleep with whoever she wanted. There was no moral chastity belt on Midgardian women on Asgard. Or was there? Did she possibly miss a briefing? At any rate, the debate inside her head had ended. She made her choice. It was now or never.
Loki was stalking near the nine realms sections, narrating his investigation of finding just the right book about Svartalfheim when he heard Lillian call to him.
“Hey, alien man, you’re talking a lot over there, and I’m over here wondering why you are still over there,” she was a little shaky in her delivery, but obviously she was now giving the man some kind of clue to her state of mind.
“Oh, I see.”
With a remarkably quick change of decorum, in a manner of seconds, Loki was over feigning to be a gentleman. He had made a gallant effort. He closed the Svartalfheim book with a loud clap, and with a fast swoop, he pinned Lillian against the nearest shelf.
A few of the ancient texts came crashing on the floor, barely missing them. Loki was very much “space drunk”, and it was the solstice, he was admittedly intrigued by this woman.
Loki placed his lips on hers tightly. She could feel the heat of his body, she could also feel more of him than she could see earlier.
“Oh god!” Lillian laughed.
“That’s me for certain!” Loki laughed equally.
“That’s you?”
Lillian thought he could be slightly overly confident at this point…
Loki cut her thinking short when he suddenly ruched up her dress until he could find her underwear. This was really happening. She still was hanging on to her professional principles enough to consider stopping him until he pushed aside her panties until he could place two long fingers inside her.
She flinched, and her mind went blank. It had been a while. Too long.
Loki seemed to understand just how long it had been as he felt how tight she was; his mind raced to how tight she would feel with his cock inside her. His mind was buzzing with pleasure. He thought Lillian smelled like Midgard. Like peaches or some other stone fruit, he recalled from his travels there.
“Do you want me to magic my clothes off, or do you want me to take them off myself? You seem like a visual person. I don’t want to rob you of the chance to watch a god strip in front of you.”
Lillian, of course, had the luck and lack of morality to be about to have sex with an Asgardian and one who seemed to think he was a god with magic. She wasn’t quite sure he was telling the truth about anything, so she offered,
“You can save your magic for when you are fucking me.”
Loki laughed at her defiance.
“Well, I don’t need magic for that; I am well equipped naturally to please. I’ve had 1,000 years to practice.”
Again, Lillian did not believe that about him.
He unfastened the front of his leather outfit, which seemed rather complicated and official. Lillian wondered if this man was a courier or messenger for the courts, obviously, something to do with talking.
He took off his shirt, and Lillian was stunned.
His body was unlike any man on Earth she had ever been with. At this point, the propranolol she had taken to calm her nerves was waning, and her heart started to beat with the current circumstances. Lillian felt she could see every possible muscle under his pale white skin.
His eyes were a delicate blue; they kept her attention the most, oddly. They offset the striking contrast with Loki’s black hair, which grazed his shoulders in spiraling curls.
When he kicked his leather pants off, he was completely naked. Apparently, on Asgard, men don’t wear underwear. Or maybe it was just this guy.
His cock was massive, just as it had felt when he was pinning her against the bookshelf, but more intimidating now that he was in his statuesque glory.
Instead of giving in to the fear and arousal she was being overwhelmed with, Lillian chose to again say something snarky.
“You know, bragging about your ability before you actually demonstrate it can harm your ability to impress someone….”
Loki heard her, but he also noticed her staring at him with a fierce, unwavering, deeply appreciative glare.
“You can say that, but you like what you see, don’t you?”
He knew Lillian’s heart was racing. He felt how wet she was; his fingers lingered inside her.
“I do like what I see, very much.”
Lillian had no choice but, to be honest once again. Suddenly things seemed like they were taking way too long once again. Much longer, Lillian might change her mind entirely and recoup her professionalism and purpose for this crazy trip.
She spoke up and stepped away slightly.
“Don’t you think we better hurry? I am supposed to be out there still meeting people, and I wouldn’t want to get caught either.”
Loki was indeed very drunk, so she was correct, he better hurry.
“Come here.” he motioned to her.
Loki held her close in his arms, kissing her neck, kissing where the straps of her dress met her warm skin. He gently pushed the material off her shoulders and tugged the rest of her dress until it fell to the wood floor, making a nice pile next to the books. She was now in her Midgardian bra and underwear. She wondered how often he’d seen that?
He picked Lillian up quickly with a surprise; since she wasn’t a tiny thing, this guy definitely worked out. Placing her delicately on the couch, he laid on top of her and pushed her panties aside once again with his long fingers, but this time, he lined his beautiful masterpiece of a cock against her.
“Aren’t you, I mean, do you want me to take off my bra and…,” Lillian shyly wondered aloud as she felt how smooth and hard he was, just almost making his way inside her.
“Nah.”
“No time.”
And with that, Loki lowered his face to Lillian’s neck and pushed himself gently inside her. She gasped. With fury, he found her clit and began moving his fingers around it as he pounded her core. Lillian felt like she was losing consciousness; her thoughts were fleeting; maybe she was too faded to be having sex with the first Asgardian man who gave her some attention…
“Ouch,” Lillian yelped as Loki picked her up by her ass to find a better angle to ram his cock into her.
“Oh…Oh, sorry, am I hurting you, my beauty?”
“You are just a little bigger than I’m used to and honestly, it’s uh, it’s uh…been awhile,” she panted.
“I can tell. Fuuuck. Fuuck.” Loki shouted just as Lillian started yelling in his ear. Usually, that kind of strong reaction would have been incredibly annoying, but Loki immediately loved it.
He felt appreciated and seen.
Lillian was fighting for logic as he pounded her deeper, “Hey, wait, she panted; I’m not on any Earth birth control. Are you on Asgardian birth control?” she queried; who knows if there was even such a thing.
He tried to reply with a few quick breaths, “Oh, don’t worry, Asgardian and Midgardian rarely ever conceive.” He couldn’t hold out any longer; he took a deep breath and came hard inside Lillian.
The intense feeling spurred her orgasm immediately following his; they both gasped for air and were barely able to find any. After several minutes Loki was still breathing heavily, but he found the energy to take his right hand away from behind Lillian’s head and place it on her stomach. This action spurred Lillian from her orgasm coma; with her eyes widening, she saw a faint green light emanating from his fingers. She jumped back from him instinctively.
“What the HELL are you doing?”
Loki spoke, “I know you don’t understand entirely, but I have magic, and I am using it to ensure the insane sex we just had doesn’t produce any illegitimate offspring. It’s to help you feel assured.”
“But you said Midgardian and Asgardian people can’t produce offspring.”
Loki shrugged, “Is caution ever a bad thing with a perfect stranger you just fucked?”
Lillian picked up his hand, pulling it towards her. Inspecting it, “Just checking for LCD lights or something weird like that.”
“I assure you, lady, it was my magic.”
“Well, I agree with what you said earlier; you don’t need it where it matters most.”
Lillian was laughing now, thinking about this gorgeous naked man in front of her, who had just fucked her better than any Earthman had even come close, and he was very inebriated to boot.
“Thank you, you better haste and put your dress back on; I sense the party goers stirring. It’s probably time for dancing, and they will look for me at least.”
“Why would “they” be looking for you?” Lillian said as she pulled her dress over her hips after finding it lying on a copy of “Asgardian herbal treatments for Visitors.”
“Oh, you know. People notice when I’m not around.” Loki said, winking again and maybe trying to cast a line Lillian’s way to see if she’d miss him or if there would be a round two later in the kitchen.
Just as they both looked marginally presentable, and Loki released the magic he had placed on the door lock, Thor burst into the library with his usual exuberance.
“Ah, brother, there you are. And I see you are with the journalist. We’ve been looking for her. Loki, have you two met officially yet?”
Loki and Lillian looked at the floor, to the ceiling, and then back to Thor with equally blank faces.
“Brother?” Lillian finally said aloud.
“Perhaps not then.” Thor laughed and bowed, his leather attire making stretching noises as he bent over.
“Loki, meet Lillian,”
Thor gestured with his long muscular arm toward Lillian. Thor continued, seemingly not noticing their facial expressions, “This is Lillian Devine; she’s here from Midgard to stay with our family. She’s writing a book about us for the Earth people, so we um, are more understandable to them, or something like that.”
“You're writing a book about us?” Loki said coyly.
Why had he thought the journalist was a man? Humored at what had just transpired both in his head and between their bodies, he passed his gaze on to Lillian, waiting for her to somehow help them both out.
“I am appointed by some very official people, I guess, and well, here we are.”
“Here we are.” Loki echoed into space.
He then sharply turned to Thor walking him back towards the library door, “Brother, thank you so much for the lovely introduction. Would you mind getting our guest some more of our special Asgardian punch? I think it might be just what the lady needs on this balmy night. She was just telling me how much she liked it.”
“Balmy? It’s getting chilly outside, brother. Are you feeling okay?” Thor looked over to Lillian, plastering a fake smile across her face with impeccable speed.
Ever the gentleman, Thor walked back to Lillian, “Lady, do you want something more to drink or is my brother speaking out of turn?”
“Oh Thor, sure, thank you. That would be so kind of you.”
“Alright then, I will be back shortly….”
Awkwardly Thor left both Lillian and Loki staring at one another.
“Oh, dear.” Loki finally spoke.
Lillian followed, “I guess I should have asked your name before we had sex?”
“I should have told you my name and who I was. This is my fault. I’m obnoxious and drunk. Would you believe it had been a while since I’ve done anything as crazy as meeting someone at our royal events and fully shagging them during it?”
Lillian wanted to believe Loki, but she wasn’t certain of anything. She had seen the ladies he had been talking to earlier, and she had succumbed to his swagger…
“Maybe?” Lillian finally shrugged while using one of the many library mirrors to check her still slightly messed up hair.
Loki stepped towards her, “I assure you, I am not lying. Much like yourself, It has been quite a while since anyone and especially a while since a human.”
Lillian wondered how to handle this and how to process one of the best orgasms of her life without jumping back into his arms and taking his clothes off once again while being the official royal journalist and having to write about this man!
Loki was also thinking about this new connection he had just made.
“We will be seeing one another quite a bit while you are writing this book, so we better find a way to keep this, us, um you know keep our relationship professional,” Loki offered.
“True enough Prince Loki, I’ll be looking into many closets and sweeping under the stairs, as they say; that’s going to be hard work. We shouldn’t complicate it by, um, continuing anything between us.”
“Oh! I didn’t mean stop seeing one another; we just have to keep it hidden.”
He said with yet another wink. This must be his thing, Lillian thought.
“Oh,” Lillian said, stepping closer to Loki and grabbing him by his leather collar.
“In that case,” she looked over her shoulder quickly to make sure no one was around, and Thor hadn’t yet arrived back with more of the famed Asgardian mead.
She then turned Loki’s head towards hers and kissed him deeply. She spun around and left the open door, leaving Loki speechless for once.
“Wait, what about more punch?” He called to Lillian.
But she was gone, heading back to the ball with a smile bigger than Ohio across her face.

Thor: The Dark World
Part 2
Valerie has been captured by Malekith and Algrim, and now it is up to Thor and Jane to rescue her from Svartelfhiem, home of the dark elves. Of course, they’re going to be needing some help getting there and they know exactly who can help them.
Thor made his way down into the dungeons where his adoptive brother Loki have been held for his crimes back on earth. After Malekith’s attack and Loki gotten word of Valerie’s capture, he lost his temper and destroyed his cell. “I guess you heard the news that Valerie is gone.” Loki said as he sat in the corner with his back against the wall and all of his belongings, including his bed, were scattered across the floor.
“Have you come to torment me brother?” He asked. Thor, not phased by his comment, replied to him, “No, I am here, because I am in need of your assistance. I’m going to let you out of the cell, but if you try anything, I’ll kill you myself.” He warned. “When do we start?” Loki asked. With the help of Heimdall, Sif and the Warriors Three to distract the guards and Odin, they were able to get to Svartelfheim through a portal.
Meanwhile On Svartelfheim….
Malekith was being attended to by his followers after Thor burned half of his face. Algrim explained to his friend that he needed to rest, and afterwards, they could head back to Asgard to retrieve the Aether. But Malekith told him Asgard was useless. He sat up from his seat and looked at his friend and told him that the Aether has found it’s way home.
During their journey to find Malekith, Jane, who was showing signs of how the Aether was affecting her, she sat up from the seat, where she laid, and looked up into the sky, and saw the ark approaching. As the arc landed on the native soil, Malekith walked over to Valeries’ sleeping form. Of course, she looked so peaceful where she was sleeping, but it’ll be a shame that he would have to wake her.
As he was about to reach out his hand to wake her, Valerie slowly opened her eyes and began to stretch her arms out. As she was doing this, her wings begin to spread out. This took him by surprise, for he did not know what she was. When she was done stretching, she turned to her left and saw Malekith standing before her, stunned. She couldn’t do anything about it because still, she was under the influence of the black powder Algrim through at her earlier back on Asgard.
He approached her and sat down on her side of the bed, where she laid. “What are you?” Malekith asked. Before Valerie could answer, One of his followers walked in and informed him that they have landed. He nodded to confirm that he’d be out in a moment, then looked back at Valerie. Finally, she answered, “Something you most definitely don’t want to piss off.” Her comment made Malekith smirk. “I thought so.” He said to her. “I sense that your friends are nearby, but I do believe I have other plans for you, besides repossessing the Aether. ” He said with a sinister smug. Then he grabbed her by the wrist and took her out of the room.
The group get off of the hover carriage and snuck the way behind a hill to see what was going on down below. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Valerie was among market and the rest of the Elves alive, for now.“ Are you ready?” Thor asked Jane, and she nodded “I know I am.” Loki said. Upon closer inspection on the group, leaving the ark, Thor noticed that Malekith had placed a strange kind of brace-like vest on Valerie. Almost immediately, Loki realized what it was.
Thor looked at Loki and asked him, “What is that they placed on her?” Loki looked at Thor. “A Svartelbrace. It is used on beings who have wings to prevent them flying away.” Thor and Jane looked at each other, they looked back at Loki. “I guess he found out what she is.” he reached up his hands, which are in cuffs and Thor looked at him. “You still don’t trust me.”
Thor reluctantly uncuffed Loki and asked,“Should I?” “ No, I don’t think you should.” as he said this, Loki took out a blade that was hidden in his sleeve, stabbed Thor and tossed him down the hill, with Jane going after him. Malekith and the group saw the altercation from afar, which left Valerie horrified. Not only that, she also had to witness Loki cut off Thor’s hand when he tried to summon Mjolnir and Jane ran to comfort him. Loki grabbed Jane and called out Malekith.
“Malekith! I’m Loki of Jotunheim, and I bring you a gift! A trade!” he said, as he threw Jane at his feet. “I only ask for one thing in return…” Loki requested. “A good seat from which to watch Asgard burn.” Algrim informed Malekith, “He is the enemy of Asgard. I’ve seen him in their dungeons.” He first looked at Loki, looked back at Valerie, then looked back at Jane. He walked over to Thor, who was still in pain from Loki cutting off his hand. “Look at me” he said, as he kicked Thor on his back.
Then, he levitated Jane off of the ground, and extracted the Aether from her body. As this was happening, Jane saw a vision of the whole world, and the universe going into darkness, which turned out to be the plans that Malekith was going to act on if he were to succeed. As soon as Malekith extracted the Aether from Jane, Thor shouted, “Loki, now!” In which Loki immediately used his magic to wear off the illusion to make the dark elf take out the Aether from Jane. It turned out that it was all a hoax to distract Malekith.
Loki ran to Jane and covered her with his body as Thor used lightning from his hammer to destroy the Aether. At first, they thought they were successful, but they were wrong. Slowly, the pieces of the Aether began to rise from the sand, and entered Malekith. As the elves were heading back to the ark, Algrim took one of the black hole grenades from his belt and tossed it at the group as he activated it. Loki pushed Jane out of the way as the grenade detonated. But before he could get sucked in, Thor threw himself at Loki, saving his life.
“Thor!” Thor and Loki looked over and saw Valerie being dragged away by Malekith. “Hold on, Valerie! I’m coming!” Thor called out as he flew toward the group. But before he could get it to her, Algrim whacked him clean into the air until he hit a boulder. A few of the elves stayed behind as Malekith escaped with Valerie in tow. Loki was able to slay a few of the elves as Thor was being pounded by Algrim. Before he could give Thor, the final blow, he gets impaled from behind.
Algrim slowly turned around and saw Loki standing behind him. He grabbed him and pulled him toward the blade. “Noooo!” Thor shouted, as he witnessed his brother being injured, then pushed Loki away from him onto the ground. As Algrim walked toward Loki to finish him off, Loki said to him, “See you in Hel, monster.” Almost immediately, Algrim looked down at his belt and saw that Loki activated one of the grenades. Before he could take it off, the grenade detonated, and sucked him in, killing him in the process.
Thor ran to Loki and started holding him in his arms. “You fool, why didn’t you listen?” Thor I asked him as Loki was doing his best to not be in pain. “You’re right, I’m a fool. I’m a fool“ he said as he cringed at the pain in his chest and Thor began to hush him . “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Loki apologized Repeatedly, but Thor hushed him. “I will tell father what you have done today.” Thor said as he was holding him. Loki looked up and said to him, “I didn’t do it for him.” Realizing what Loki meant, he died in his arms. “NOOO!” Thor yelled angrily as he watched his brother fade away. He then turned to Jane, and she looked back at him with a broken heart as well.

He spent his days with his wife, helping to care for her. Henrik ensured she got her medicine on time, never missed a doctor's appointment, and held her when the pain became unbearable.
Not once did Henrik consider turning his back on his wife. He vowed to be there for her in sickness and health, and that's what he intended to do.
When the second Ragnarök arrived, Henrik refused to leave Sylvie's side. It wasn't until the Royal Guards protecting the palace where the young and injured Asgardians were sheltered began losing that Henrik left her. But not without giving his wife a parting kiss.
Henrik would have made it longer if he'd known it would be their last.
He entrusted Valkyrie Kára Halvorsen to protect Sylvie in his place while he assisted the Royal Guard. He had known Kára for decades, and while the Valkyrie was known for her issues, he trusted her to keep his wife safe.
To this day, he still claims that was the worst decision he ever made. He will never forget finding Sylvie laid out in the throne room with an arrow piercing her heart. Henrik felt like an arrow had gone through his heart when he cradled his wife's dead body in his arms.
Henrik has never moved on from his wife's death. The grief is still as fresh as the day she died. That is why when the opportunity arose; he killed Kára to avenge his wife. Even with his bloodlust satisfied, the pain he feels from Sylvie's death hurts no less.
After Vuk escorted him to the G.I.A.'s Earth space station, he was deported to New Asgard, where he was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison. As the ex-king, he is in a special jail and spends most of his time in his cell or the prison library, waiting for his end to arrive.
While he knows and has accepted that he will not ascend to Valhalla, he hopes Odin welcomed Sylvie into his hall and that they will see each other again someday, somewhere and somehow.

Trivia
Between Sylvie and him, Henrik was closer to their grandson Magnus while Sylvie was closer to Tómus
When Henrik was arrested for murder, his family was shocked. But out of all of them, Magnus was affected the most. He refused to speak to anyone for days, and it took Aurora threatening to get Adalet to knock some sense into him for him to start coming out of his mourning
He and Sylvie always wanted multiple children. But after the complications with Runa, they were just happy to have a healthy baby
His proudest moment was watching his daughter be crowned Queen of New Asgard
When Sylvie got sick, Henrik would spend every moment he could with her. She was the love of his life, and he treasures every memory they made together
His greatest regret and shame is that he wasn't there for Sylvie when she died. He wishes he had never left her alone, and even if they had both died, he would have died happy because she was by his side
He feels guilty about killing Kára, ruining his friendship with Sofía and Birgitta, and bringing shame to his family, but he does not regret killing Kára. He knows Sylvie would be disappointed in him, but his thirst for revenge has been satisfied, and that is all he wanted

Loki's PoV.
The Trickster knew he needed this woman to get out of his cell and now that he made her trust him it would be easier than he thought. (Name) was dead which meant this woman in his arms couldn't be the woman he loved. He looked at the woman clutching his coat and pressing her body into his but couldn't see the one he loved so many years ago.
He didn't believe anymore that he could even love. If this woman holding him was the same person he loved still he was lucky... but he couldn't be lucky... or worthy of her love. She didn't know the monster under the disguise of Aesir skin, who she held now so tightly not wanting to let go. He saw the memories flashing through her mind but even if the obvious was screaming at him he couldn't believe it and told himself that all of this was just an act, a game of the All-Father.
'Loki? What is wrong?' asked (Name). He looked down at her showing sadness caressing her cheek with his thumb.
'They are coming' told her the Trickster knowing it was true even if he just wanted to draw her attention away from him. Loki let go of her and she was again outside of the cell. (Name) looked up at him surprised and somewhat frightened before she turned and ran away when Loki nodded at her unspoken question.
He needed some time to think over what he wanted to do now and where he wanted to go with this. He knew he forgot every possible plan he had when his lips met hers. They felt the same as the night he kissed her first and as he thought last. His heart was beating fast when the guards and Odin arrived to find him alone in his cell. Odin asked him a few questions but he just ignored the old king not noticing the smug look on his face as he walked away and left Loki alone to his thoughts.
Your PoV.
You ran down the corridors through the palace and only stopped when you closed your door. Your lips still tingled from the kiss you ached for so many nights and days through the hundreds of years locked up in the lonely tower Vraë sent you as its prisoner.
Your heart pumped quickly and you couldn't stop thinking about those sweet thin lips. You fell back on your bed in your clothes and sighed lovingly and giggled like a sixteen year old. Someone knocked on your door so you got up with furrowed eyebrows at who could it be and opened it. Frigga smiled at you from the other side to your surprise.
'We should talk' she said and walked inside. You closed the door and turned to her silently not knowing what to say or do. You knew she must be here because you were inside of Loki's cell.
'I do not know how I got inside the barrier, my queen... I blacked out and then suddenly was inside his cell' you started explaining yourself but she held up a hand still smiling warmly at you.
'Do not worry, my child' she said. 'You did nothing wrong by going to him... I assume my husband just got an idea of what to do with Loki.'
'What do you mean, my queen?' you asked concerned for Loki's life. You finally could feel his touch on your body and you didn't want to lose it so suddenly now.
'The Vardens called our kingdom searching for you. Your master, Eragon was quite worried about you. He asked if you were well and informed us about the on-coming war Alagaësia is at soon.' answered Frigga. 'The Vardens decided to help the elves and they wish for you to join their lines because of your victories in the former war five hundred years ago.'
'So I have to go back now...' you mumbled disappointed. You didn't want to leave just yet. You just started to build back up what you had with Loki, the only person you could love ever since you were children and you didn't want to give him up again.
'My husband and I assume that if we send Loki with you, it would prove if he could change... for insurance, we will send Thor and Lady Sif with you' smiled at you the queen. Your heart thumped in your chest happily at the thought that you could free Loki and you could be with him. Something however popped into your mind. If the Vardens would fight the elven army it would only mean their fail. Elven warriors were much faster and stronger than human ones. You knew you had to go back to protect everyone. There were friends you adored and you still couldn't apologize of your father. You parted quite angrily back before you were imprisoned.
Flashback~
You sat at the foot of the Menoa tree trying to find peace. A week passed since Srunugr died on the battlefield but it still felt like it was a few hours ago. Tears ran down your cheeks like raindrops on the glass as you slowly started singing to the tree. Your voice filled the area drawing small animals' attention to the beautiful sound.
Siúil, siúil, siúil a rúin Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom
Siúil, siúil, siúil a rúin Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán I wish I was on yonder hill 'Tis there I'd sit and cry my fill Until every tear would turn a mill I'll sell my rod, I'll sell my reel I'll sell my only spinning wheel To buy my love a sword of steel
I'll dye my petticoats, I'll dye them red And 'round the world I'll beg my bread Until my parents shall wish me dead
Your pain was obvious if others listened to it but no one did. Or you thought. Suddenly, when you quieted down you noticed someone sitting next to you. You looked up at the intruder who was none other than your father, Eragon. His brown hair was swinging in the gentle breeze while his brown eyes were looking up at the sky. His lips in a tight line, his jaw clenched tightly. You saw his agony on his face.
'I thought... it was your mother...' he said quietly. 'Your voices are so similar...'
'Others told me that too' you agreed. 'I'm sorry...'
'What for?' asked Eragon looking down on you concerned.
'For not being able to save mother' you answered knowing it if you wouldn't have been trying to kill everyone who tried to get close to Srunugr's dead body you would've been able to protect Arya from the soldiers closing on her.
'That wasn't your duty, (Name)' shook his head Eragon. He grabbed your hand and squeezed it reassuringly.
'But it was my duty to protect her, master... if I would've been stronger, faster... I would've-' you pulled away.
'You're still calling me "master"' Eragon noted. You blinked in surprise but anger took its place.
'Why would I call you anything other than that?! I don't even understand why you would want to act like you're more than that to me! You let me believe that Vraë is my father and I had to grow up knowing that my father hates me! I did everything to earn his love and the entire time I searched for the love of someone who hates me because I was born!' you screamed angrily at your master. You weren't angry at him nor hated him... you were still in deep pain because of your loss.
You jumped up and ran away to be alone somewhere no one would find you. As your feet padded on the grass Eragon closed his eyes sadly.
'But I never stopped loving you, little one' his voice however never reached you because you were too far from him.
End of flashback~
You walked into the All-Father's study where you spotted Thor and Sif standing waiting for you and Frigga to enter the room while Odin sat in a comfy armchair patiently. Thor smiled at you reassuringly while Sif bowed to you. You nodded at her not wanting to draw too much attention to you by protesting. You never liked it when your friends had to act on protocol other than on a conference.
'I assume, Frigga already told you why you're here' spoke up the old king looking at you with his one good eye. You nodded not trusting your voice. You were sure if you spoke up you would stutter or show nervousness and you would seem weak. 'Are you sure you can do it? Can you bring peace to the Nine Realms by making peace at your homeland and assuring Asgard of an alliance we had during your mother's rule on Alagaësia?'
'I am, my king' you replied without hesitation. You calmed down a bit knowing that the fact you got in Loki's cell was okay. Not like you didn't trust Frigga's words but... Odin was different when it came to Loki.
'Would you be able to keep Loki in Alagaësia when your war is over?' asked suddenly the old king making all of you look at him wide eyed. You could see the others didn't know about this by the look on their faces.
'Father, I believe that it would be-' started Thor.
'I asked (Name)!' shut him up the All-Father. You gulped not knowing what was the right answer. Did he assume that if you said yes, you would be an enemy to Asgard because you are on Loki's side? Or was he expecting you to imprison Loki as thanks to him for sending help to stop Vraë? You were unsure of what to answer when Frigga placed a gentle hand on your shoulder.
'I am certain that would be too much to ask of (Name). Loki is capable of stronger magic than anything the Alagaësian elves are aware of. He would escape or would break havoc on that land.' said Frigga.
'I thought you had more faith in me, mother' spoke suddenly from behind Loki's deep, smooth voice. You turned back to him surprised to see him there. He was in shackles and two guards were on his sides but he still smiled like he just broke out of prison.
'Loki...' escaped the queen's mouth.
'So? Why am I here?' quirked an eyebrow the Trickster feigning boredom.
'You are going to Alagaësia to accompany (Name) and to help her bring peace to her kingdom' answered Odin sternly. Loki flashed you a suspicious glance but looked back at Odin.
'Why would you let me out of my cage? Am I not the monster you keep away from your precious kingdom?' asked Loki showing his bitterness. You looked down sadly recognizing this act. You were like this once and it didn't bring you anything good.
'I asked for you to accompany me. I know that you are a good tactician and would always find a way out of any trouble we might face' you spoke up looking straight at him hoping it would work. Loki's smirk grew mischievous as he watched you.
'Do you?' asked Loki quirking an eyebrow at you still smirking. Your cheeks now had a pink hue to it but you still looked at him and nodded.
'I do' your voice didn't waver and you were grateful for that.
'Then... I am at your service, my princess' he circled his left hand in front of his chest as much as he could with the shackles on his wrists and bowed deep to you.
Time skip~
You sat on a brown stallion galloping towards the BiFrost alongside Loki, Thor and Sif. All of them were already in their own fine armor while you were only in your normal gown. You had a few armors in Ellesméra in your room and you would easily sneak in at night when you were already in Alagaësia. You turned to your left side where Loki was with his black stallion and you noticed that he looked completely like before you left.
You couldn't help but watch him and take every detail in admiring him as much as you could.
'Something is on your mind, (Name)?' asked Loki suddenly shaking out of your thoughts making you blush hard that you got caught.
'I-I... you just still look... noble' you muttered trying to hide your blushing face. He chuckled quietly and turned his face to you a small smile playing at his thin lips.
'Even if I lost my title and was banished, I still have my pride, (Name)' he answered. You opened your mouth to say something when Thor's booming voice interrupted your conversation.
'We are almost there!' his boyish smile broke onto his face and you noticed Loki's expression change into a soft one showing that he still remembered the times they went on adventures together. Loki noticed your gaze and he quickly hid that soft expression behind a cold and hard mask. You sighed sadly and knew it would be hard to build back up what you had once. But you were ready for it because you would never let go of him again.

Loki Odinson, god of mischief, had been your arch-nemesis since you were just small children playing amongst the fields of Asgard. Despite the closeness of your families you never truly could get along. While he may have been one of magic, you were always known to outwit his trickery. Being the daughter of the goddess Sol, the living embodiment of the sun, had advantages to say the least. Whenever Loki would turn himself into some animal to attempt to scare you the same way he had done to Thor many times, you would cast hot beams of sunlight on whatever form he took, revealing the green aura around it; a dead giveaway to the boy and his prank. As if living in Thor’s shadow wasn’t enough, he couldn’t even outsmart the girl who tried to eat a sunflower whole because, “I want to become one with the sun like my mother”.
As you both got older his tolerance for you grew weaker and weaker, you arguing each and every time you were in each other’s presence for longer than 15 minutes, Thor on the other hand, was a good friend of yours, which is why he along with Sif and Fandral would tease you relentlessly about your crush on Loki. You only argued with him because he started it and at least that way you got to speak to him. Even when you were small, you meant no harm towards him, you enjoyed your little prank wars, it was an entirely one-sided feud. You cherished the glances you could steal at the bi-weekly family dinners before he caught you and immediately scowled in your direction, today happens to be one of those days. As usual, you’re hoping he’ll be a bit distracted so you can enjoy his presence just a bit longer than usual.
“Y/n! Terrace please” you heard your mother's voice call for you, pulling you out of your thoughts.
“Coming mother” you shouted back, tucking the golden dagger you’d been fiddling with back into your boot, making your way to the lower terrace where dinners at yours took place, being met with your mother’s face was truly a comfort, her soft and warm features never allowed you to wallow in whatever you were feeling at the time. As you looked around you noticed only two chairs were sitting at the gigantic table.
“Is something wrong?”
“I’m afraid so, Frigga has just informed me that they cannot make it tonight, in all these hundreds of years they’ve never canceled, I’m a bit worried. Though we’ll be dining alone tonight, would you be a dear and take them over a basket? Fruits and nuts and the sort, the latest ripened from our garden, whatever is going on is definitely worthy of a gift”
“I’ll take it over quickly, no problem at all” and you did, you grabbed the beautifully adorned golden basket and made your way to Odin’s palace, sure to greet everyone you saw on the way there. Familiar with the setting, you went through Loki’s hallway as you headed for the palace dining hall when you heard the breaking of glasses. Before you could question it, guards ran out of Loki’s room, an unconscious Odin being relocated before the double doors swung shut again. Screams that were easily identified as those of Loki himself. You knew he wouldn’t want you around, you knew it was a bad idea, but that part of you that so desperately wanted to be there for him overrides your sense of self-control as you pushed through the door, setting the basket on his table to be long forgotten. Slowly making your way towards the figure holding itself on the floor before his bed, head tucked between his knees, you let out a small make of his name, so quiet you weren’t sure if he heard.
“Loki?” The head slowly rose, slightly peeking over his shoulder to glance at you before stopping.
“Go away y/n” he weakly muttered.
“I have never listened to you once in our entire thousand years together, why start now?” You giggled at the memory of every time he had called you out for being so insistently stubborn with him. You had expected him to do the same now but were shocked when you were met with silence from the weasel.
“Seriously Loki, what’s up with you? What happened with Odin?” He tensed at the mention of Odin. You carefully moved to where he was, sitting next to him, copying his position on the floor. Being much closer now you could hear the weak sniffles just barely escaping, he was obviously trying to hide whatever was going on in that mischievous mind of his.
“Okay well I’m not going anywhere, so I will sit here with you as long as it takes for you to tell me what your major malfunction is”. No reaction. Being the persistent woman you were, you moved to sit opposite to him, back to the wall across from his bed, and you kept your promise. You have no idea how long you sat there but eventually, you heard the small gulps holding back the tears stop, and his frozen demeanor broke like a dam, tears falling out like he was drowning in them. Without hesitating you quickly made your way to him, reaching to his lean figure and guiding his head to the crook of your neck, his whole body wracked with sobs, enough tears falling to soak the very edge of your top. He was too weak at this point to fight back or care that you were running your fingers through his hair, or even notice that he’d wrapped his arms around your waist. You didn’t mind. Not one bit.
You stayed this way until he stopped, well, to be honest, he had stopped crying about 15 minutes ago but you couldn’t bring yourself to remove his body that was pressed against your side. When he finally detached himself from your body you felt cold without him, not actually because the boy was constantly below 0, but emotionally. He wiped his poor little flushed face.
“Loki, if you’re crying like that it’s obviously of major importance, talk to me sunshine” you rested your hand on his shoulder and he let out a dry laugh.
“You haven’t called me sunshine since that one time you gave me sunburn for cutting off one of your braids with my smallest dagger” he looked up at you somewhat smiley.
“Yeah well you deserved it then and you deserve it now, for different reasons of course. But I’m being truthful, you can tell me anything.” You gave him a light shove.
“Close your eyes, I’m going to show you something when I tell you to open them, that way if I truly look like a freak, I at least know you’ll put out of my misery, I can trust the person who hates me most to do that” you closed your eyes as he began to stand and huffed.
“Loki I don’t-“
“Oh shut your mouth for once y/n, and open your eyes when I tell you”
‘Fine” your reluctance evident in your voice.
“Open.” He barked rather harshly considering how he had spoken just moments ago, but you opened your eyes to be met with Loki, who definitely wasn’t Loki. You stood on weak legs and walked over to the blue man standing so far away with his eyes closed. Your fingers twitched, absentmindedly wanting to touch the fascinating ridges now gracing his face, he was within an arms reach now and you couldn’t help yourself.
A gasp flew out your mouth when you finally made contact with his face, he was always cold but he was truly freezing now, you could swear you felt ice on the tips of your fingers. None of that mattered though, as you pressed both of your warm hands on his cheeks.
“Why are your eyes closed sunshine?”
“You’re already seeing what a freak I am, you don’t need to see the monster as well”
“Oh Loki, you’re not a monster, please open your eyes, I promise I’ll tell you what I think after you do” you promised and you meant it, attempting to soothe him with the run of your thumbs across the apple of his cheeks. His eyes fluttered just before they opened and you were meant with bright red eyes, he let out a shaky sigh expecting you to scream or call him something horrible, he waited for what seemed like forever.
“You’re so beautiful Loki” you said in such a soft voice that he almost believed it, but he pushed away from you instead.
“Don’t lie to me y/n, I’m disgusting and we both know it, I am a living creature of the horror stories we were told as little ones. I am a monster, I am darkness, I am a danger to everyone around me. I now understand why Odin treated me so different all these years, why he favored Thor, I was nothing more than the bastard creature he hoped would actually be of use someday.” His erratic pacing making you nervous, his hand pulling at his black tresses from the root.
“Loki..” you reached out to him.
“I am lost y/n, who am I anymore? I’m a lie, a fabrication of Odin’s place on the throne” another step closer.
“You are Loki, you may not be Odinson but you are Friggason and you know that, your mother loves you dearly. You don’t have to be Laufeyson if you don’t want to, nobody needs to know” another step, you were so close.
“And as far as you being lost…’ you trailed off.
“Y/n?” You must’ve gotten lost in your mind, because Loki’s voice snapped you back into reality.
“Hold on one second” you dug in your boot and pulled out your dagger, twisting the sun pendant that lay just above the handle of the blade, when it finally came off you threw your dagger somewhere, you’d worry about that in a moment. You walked to the corner of the room, opening the pendant and closing it between your two hands, eyes squeezed shut. ‘Please let this work’ you pleaded to yourself. When you opened up your palm you were relieved, ‘it worked’! You stalked back over to him with the palm-sized sun presented before him.
“What is that?”
“It’s for a necklace, for you” he looked so confused you would’ve thought his head would be turned to the side like a puppy.
“How is a necklace going to change the fact that I’m lost?” You had the overwhelming urge to remove his eyes so he couldn’t roll them again.
“Just let me put it on you” you demanded and he reluctantly nodded, once you had it around him you melted the two ends of the pendant necklace together, before heading back to the front of him.
“Now enclose the sun in your hand and close your eyes” you could help but smile.
“Are you being serious right now?”
“One thousand percent sunshine, now do it” he sighed before following the instructions, your eyes lit up when the gift began to emit a warm glow, Loki’s face churned for a moment before relaxing and you knew exactly what had happened when his shoulders dropped, no longer tense. You watched his face contort in every which way until the glow faded out and he opened his eyes, just glossy enough for you to notice.
“What was that?”
“All of the times in our life I’ve ever cheered you up without you knowing it was me” you gave a shy smile, completely unsure of how the unpredictable individual before you would react.
“So when Thor snapped my dagger in half…”
“I basically welded it back together” you rotated your hands and looked at them, but he never took his eyes off of you.
“Why?”
“Well it was a really cool dagger-“
“No y/n, why did you do all of it? Any of it? You hate me” the gaze on your hands broke at that comment, could he seriously never tell???
“Oh don’t give me that Loki, I never have, but you always hated me and I’d rather play along than be viewed as a victim”
“Oh…” guilt seeped through his pores thinking about all the times he wished he would’ve pushed you out a palace window.
“Yeah, ‘oh’. So it's your turn now, why do you hate me?”
“I don’t hate you” he mumbled, fumbling with his new gift.
“That’s a damn lie and you know it” you couldn’t believe he would even try and play that shit after everything you’ve been through.
“I never hated you, I was just jealous” he crossed his arms.
“Of who, me? Thor? Any of my other friends?” You mimicked his body language, two could play this game.
“Perhaps all of the above. You’re closer with my brother than I am, friends with all his friends, you have this lovely family, you’re cunning and witty and smart and everyone loves you” how he managed to look like a dick when he scoffed, but also look so sweet still rubbing the pendant between his fingers made you want to snap his neck.
“Those are trivial things Loki, I wish you would’ve told me sooner”
“What does this necklace mean y/n?” Your eyes finally meet for a moment.
“You’re lost right?” You spoke up, throat dry. He nodded, still entirely confused.
“Well when you’re feeling lost, I’ll leave my love hidden in the sun, ya know, for when the darkness comes” you said sheepishly, not daring to look up from the toe of your shoe that was suddenly the most fascinating thing on the planet. Before you had time to process the sound of the footsteps, Loki already had your face in his freezing hands, tilting your gaze up just a bit before kissing you, you didn't hesitate before kissing him back with the same chemistry that spread throughout both of you. Your arms moving to wrap around his neck, heart beating out of your chest at a sudden realization, you were kissing Loki, and not just Loki, a blue jottun Loki who apparently didn't hate you. You pulled away on a whim and were met with the pasty boy with crystal eyes you’ve known all your life.
“So what do we do now….” Loki asked gazing so far into you that you swear you could feel it, his small smile and glossy eyes embracing you.
“Well… My mother and I are-“ realization hit you like a bus and you facepalmed.
“I totally forgot that me and my mom were about to have dinner when I came over to…” you walked over to the basket that was long forgotten.
“These are for your mother by the way” he took it from your hands and set it on his bed
“Do you wanna come over? We were expecting you guys anyway and it's not like food ever gets cold in our house-“ he shut you up with a quick peck on the lips, stroking his finger just along your cheekbones.
“I’d love to y/n” he softly smiled at you, you pulled him into another kiss before you began to lead him out the palace. You shared smiles as you walked through the field of flowers you essentially grew up in, hindsight making those memories even more special. As you approached your home you could feel the radiance of your mother, even from the outside. You opened the door and you were both immediately met with a very impatient mother's face, but she slightly softened at the sight of Loki, her eyes immediately dropping to his new accessory, a smile broke through and she simply waved you back to the dining area.
“Everything is alright I presume?” Her smile more radiant than usual.
“Yeah” you make eye contact.
“Everything’s alright” you could feel his thumb gently stroking the back of your hand.
And for the first time ever, you didn’t receive a scowl when he found you stealing glances, you were met with the same cocky smile that got you here in the first place.

Day: 30 Royal Guard  Loki x FTM!Reader
D/N:dead name
TW:Dead name,transphobic parents
Tumblr media
“Your highness the king has requested your presence in the dining hall” One of the guards informed you,you gave him a nod and dismissed him. Quickly changing before heading to the dining hall, you found your parents and your two sisters already sitting there. Your mother quickly noticed the new bruise on your arm.
“Have you been practicing with that sword again?”She asked, her tone filled with disgust. You didn’t respond, knowing if you did she’d find something else to complain about. There was a moment of tense silence before your father stood up.
“I’ve had enough of this, you’re a princess not a prince. We let you have your fun but now it’s over. By tomorrow I expect this phase to be over”He yelled at you, everyone else was silent. You were used to it by now but then he said the words. “Because I have already promised you away” The words you knew you’d hear eventually, every princess did,but you weren’t  a princess. You couldn't endure listening to him belittle you any further and quickly left.
When you got back to your room you started packing some of your things, not taking anything that you didn’t absolutely need. You were almost finished packing, when there was a knock on your door. You quickly rushed to hide the bag, before answering the door. Both of your sisters stood there, they looked a bit hesitant before asking.
“Can we come in?” You backed away, letting them both in. “Are you leaving?” Lilian asked.
“I can’t stay here,I’m sorry. But if I stay I’ll be trapped for the rest of my life”You hugged both of them. “I really don’t want to leave you two. I love you and I hate having to do this”
“Y/N we understand,we’re not here to stop you”Rosalie stepped closer to you,she handed you a small box, inside it was a necklace. It was a silver chain with a ring on it,both of your sisters' names etched on it. “We’re going to miss you”
“But it’s for the best”
“Don’t worry,I’m sure we’ll find each other again someday”
*Timeskip*
It’s been two years since you left your family, during that time you finished your transition. No one that met you recently had a single idea, you had never been happier. During that time you had also traveled to Asgard, joined the royal guard and saved Loki which ended up with you being his new guard. Everyone told you that there was no way he’d accept that, but surprisingly he didn’t seem to mind. He was never hostile with you,he was nice to you, sometimes it sounded like he was flirting with you. And you’d be lying if you said you didn’t have a crush on him.
Odin had asked all the guards to be extra vigilant, since some royal family was visiting. You had been sticking closer to Loki and he didn’t mind,he trusted you more than anyone since he knew you’d do anything to protect him. The day they arrived everyone gathered in the throne room to greet them,as usual you were standing beside Loki. The second they walked in and you saw them,it started getting harder to breathe. Your family, they looked mostly the same but they didn’t seem to recognize you,or they didn’t really pay attention to you. With every step your father took closer,it was getting harder to breathe and your hands started shaking slightly. You felt Loki’s hand on yours, making you turn to him.
“Are you alright?” Your hand started shaking even more and you couldn’t breathe, you couldn’t even answer his question.
“I’m sorry my prince, you’ll have to excuse me”
“Go ahead” You left calmly, not looking at them or saying anything. Thankfully the halls were empty since everyone was busy protecting their guests. You practically fell to the floor, crying and breathing heavily. Gripping your hair you started shaking again, but this time you were worried about your sisters was your father planning on doing the same thing to them. You felt someone’s arms around you. “Y/N it’s okay,I’m here just breathe”Loki had his arms around you,his fingers through your hair. You held onto him tightly, crying into his shoulder.
***
Later that night Loki asked you to come to his room, you assumed to talk about what happened earlier today.  You weren’t sure what you could say, you’d probably just have to tell him the truth. Standing in front of his door, your hand hovered over the door. Finally you knocked,he opened the door and let you in. He seemed nervous, which you didn’t expect, maybe this wasn’t about you.
“My prince, are you alright?”You asked, breaking the silence.
“There’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you. I just want you to make me a promise, that what I’m about to say won’t change anything between us” You started to freak out ‘Did he know? How did he find out?’
“Of course. And I have something to tell you too” It didn’t matter whether he knew or not, you’d rather he’d hear it from you than someone else.
“Me first. Ever since that day when you saved me,I was so happy that you cared so much about me. To the point where you jumped in between me and that dark elf,you saved me barely knowing anything about me. I highly doubt anyone else would’ve done what you did. Just seeing how much you cared,I realized that I like you. I’ve never said this to anyone before and I never thought I ever would. Y/N I love you” The last part made your heart hurt, did he really think that no one would love him?
“My prince”
“Loki”He quickly corrected you
“Loki There’s something I need to tell you and I understand if you don’t want me after hearing this”
“Y/N there’s nothing you could say that would make me not want to be with you” You sat down on his bed,he sat down next to you.
“I’ve never told anyone about my past,it’s not something I want to remember. I wasn't always like this,I-I was born as a woman.”You paused, waiting for his reaction but he didn’t seem to care. “I quickly realized that I was a man and told my family,as you can probably tell they didn’t take it well. I changed my name and took up stuff like sword fighting. My parents didn’t like that, they stopped me from sword fighting and put me into what they considered ladylike. They kept referring to me by the wrong name and telling other people to do the same, telling them that it’s just a phase. Always introducing me as their daughter, even when the person they introduced me to could clearly see that I wasn't a woman. The only thing that got me through was my sisters, they always corrected people when they got my name wrong.”
“They must’ve really liked you” You reached to the ring on your necklace.
“They did. I just dealt with my parents but one night two years ago,we sat down for dinner and my father started talking about how he arranged to marry me away to someone. That night I snapped,I couldn’t take it anymore. I knew that if I didn’t leave I’d be trapped for the rest of my life” As you finished talking,Loki wrapped his arms around you.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that,I can promise you that as long as I’m here no one will dare say anything about you”He let go of you, leaving one arm around your shoulder.
“So you still want me?”He moved his arm, pulling you closer to him.
“Nothing would change that”You kissed him, moving closer. There was a knock on the door, making you pull away. Loki got up and answered the door, you recomposed yourself and stood behind Loki.
“Your highness, will you be joining our guests for tea?”He turned to face you,you just nodded.
“Yes I will and so will Y/N”He closed the door and walked up to you. He kissed you again, letting you wrap your arms around his waist. He only pulled away when both of you were out of breath. “Y/N I promise you if I find them I’ll make them pay for all the pain they caused you” You didn’t say anything about that, you just let go of him.
“You should probably get ready”
“You too, you’re joining me right?” You didn’t exactly wanna tell him who your parents were, but you didn’t want to disappoint him.
“I don’t know, they’d probably think it’s weird for the royal guard to be sitting with them”
“First of all you’re my guard and as I just said no one will dare say anything about you”
“Okay,I’ll join you”He gave you a quick kiss.
“Great now go get ready”
“Loki”He stopped, turning to look at you “I love you too”
***
Through the entire tea,you avoided looking at your parents. Loki wanted you to sit down with them but you convinced him otherwise.Your dad was talking about something but you only caught the tail end of it.
“So when do you wanna start planning for the wedding?” You froze, was he doing the samething to your sisters? You knew that he wanted some sort of alliance with Asgard, apparently this was the only way he knew how. You couldn’t say anything but you didn’t have to.
“What wedding?” Loki asked.
“That’s been called off,I asked you here to talk about it”Thankfully Odin spoke up,and you knew your father wouldn’t dare say anything to him. Suddenly Odin asked. “Didn’t you have another daughter,D/N? What happened to her”
“She’s no longer my daughter”That moment you wanted to explode, you were never his daughter. You put your hand on Loki’s shoulder and leaned in.
“Can I talk to you, alone?”He got up and followed you taking a few steps away.
“What’s wrong?”
“I didn’t wanna say anything but I can’t stand it anymore. I can’t stay here,I’ll assign someone else to guard you for the rest of the meeting.” He quickly grabbed your arm before you could leave.
“Y/N What’s wrong? You can trust me with anything” You turned back to the table.
“It’s them,they’re my parents”
“What!”Loki stormed away before you could stop him, walking up to the table he slammed his hand on it. Everyone froze, you quickly tried to pull him away.
“Loki don’t” He was practically fuming as you tried to hold him back. “Loki! He’s not worth it”
“What are you talking about, what about all the years of pain and suffering he’s caused!”He yelled at you,you never thought you’d have to do this. You grabbed both his arms,he didn’t stop struggling
“Stop,I don’t want you to do this” He only stopped struggling when Lilian bolted up
“Y/N!”You let go of Loki and turned to your sister. “Y/N” She ran up to you, hugging you. Rosalie quickly did the same. “We missed you”
“I missed you too”Your father stood up,making his way towards you. Loki quickly stood between you. “Loki!”
“Don’t even try to stop me! I said I’d never let someone treat you like this and I mean it” You had no doubt that Loki would’ve stabbed him if Odin didn't step in between them. He turned to your father.
“I think you should leave”
“Fine,Lilian,Rosalie come here”He called them,but they didn’t move.
“No,we’re not going anywhere with you. Y/N was right, the night he left he said something that stuck with us. ‘If I stay I’ll be trapped for the rest of my life’”
“He was right and we’re not you keep us trapped any longer” He was fuming as he stormed out.
***
“So did you plan on telling me?”Loki asked
“Tell you what?”
“Who your parents were?” Or that you were royalty” He asked
“I don’t know. I never wanted to see him again. But my sisters,I care about them”
“Well they can stay here as long as you want”He wrapped his arms around your waist, pressing his chest against your back and his lips onto your cheek.
“I love you”
“I love you too Y/N”

I truly disliked the series, disliked even more the last episode, yet even with the fact that tva loki is not our loki, it still broke my heart when he said "Is that what you think about me?"
I understand where you're coming from anon. For me I accept parts of the series that feels IC to me and can be explained by established canon and I reject other parts which seem OOC to me or are retcons.
The line you're mentioning is one of the scenes I loved and it broke my heart too. Because it matches with Loki's characterization and can be explained on a meta level.
I wrote once that one of Loki's core traits is that he values it when people put their trust in him.
We see in the first movie that Loki is not trusted by people, even the ones who call themselves his friends are fast to accuse him of treachery. They feel betrayed when they realize it was Loki who told the guard to inform Odin, while seconds ago they were grateful that their lives were saved. We can explain this by saying Loki has always been cunning but I think this notion that Loki is untrustworthy is rooted in Loki's atypical ways to Asgardian norms, mainly his use of magic. Which can be confirmed by what Hogan says and his reason for accusing Loki.
"A master of magic could bring three Jotuns into Asgard."
Loki's use of magic is also mocked by Thor.
"Some do battles, others just do tricks."
So Loki was probably considered a coward and untrustworthy as soon as he started using magic and fighting with it. That means hundreds of years tolerating people's accusations and distrust towards him, even from his so-called friends.
Learning about his Jotun heritage, a race that are considered cowardly monsters by Asgardians, made everything worse for him. Because he thought there was a reason Odin never saw him a worthy son. That he was a monster and evil was in his nature.
Tumblr media
This issue, is again hinted at in TDW, when Thor tells Loki that their mother trusted Loki. And later in their argument, he uses "trust" as a weapon to hurt Loki back.
"You had her tricks, but I had her trust"
Thor, unlike their friends, trusted Loki. That was why Loki's betrayal in Thor 1 shocked Thor. And that's why you see regret in Loki's face when Thor tells him "I wish I could trust you".
Tumblr media
Specially when Loki in Thor's place, wouldn't have trusted himself.
Loki: "Still don't trust me brother?"
Thor: "Would you?"
Loki: "No, I wouldn't."
Loki regrets that he has lost Thor's trusts, one of the few people who had trusted him.
We also see in TR that Loki is truly hurt when Thor thinks Loki would do well in a lawless chaotic trash planet, that Thor thinks so little of him.
Tumblr media
So, Loki longs for someone to see him for who he really is. For people to not see him as a liar, a cheater. As a villain. He wants people, specially the ones he care about, to trust him.
That's why when Sylvie accuses him as wanting a throne, as betraying her, it hurts him so deeply.
From the start Loki tried to reason with her. Even before agreeing on a truce he instinctively protected her when they were running from meteors. Sylvie thinks Loki saved her life because he needed her alive to learn how to charge the Tamped. And Loki's reaction to it is momentary confusion. As if that reason didn't even occur to him.
Tumblr media
But he recovers fast and hides his confusion by saying that was part of the reason.
Through their journey, Loki never did sth that showed he intends to betray her. He shows her support, understanding, friendship and love. He lied for her to Mobius that the plan was all him, fought alongside her, faced a monster for her. And yet, despite all that, she accused him of betrayal. And that accusation breaks Loki's heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because no matter how much he tries, despite his best intentions, it seems he is forever doomed to be seen as untrustworthy, scheming, a liar, evil.
Tumblr media
Still, hurt and heartbroken, Loki can empathize with Sylvie and understands why she can't trust. And in the end, yet again, he is betrayed and left alone by someone he loves.
And It's heartbreaking. It's tragic.

Opening your aching eyes, you found yourself to be in a large room, there were plenty of feet stood at your eye level, and such a sight made you frown. You certainly didn’t remember being knocked out, but who would, the exposure to unconsciousness was most likely sudden.
But nevertheless, you raised your head, glaring up at those whom had captured you. As your eyes scoured the room, your eyes landed promptly on the god of mischief, who had his hands bound and shackled in chains, and by Odin, did he look good.
However, your attraction the man who once reigned terror down upon New York wasn’t the focus now, and so you licked your lips, and kicked the nearest guard in the leg. He stumbled, the noise loud enough to draw the attention of all others, and you were pleased to stifle a laugh. Loki frowned at your behaviour, knowing that this was not the way that you were trained to be an avenger, but it was clear that you were no longer on earth, so human pleasantries did not apply here.
“And by the gods, who in the galactic council’s name do you think you are?” The closest asked, wrapping his large hand through your hair, and tugging your face up to stare up at him, wanting you to be treated as the lesser being he thought you as.
“Actually, he’s the god.” Tilting your head, you diverted it towards Loki, who squinted feebly at your answer. “But I think you already knew that, since you have him rattled in metal. Just a word of advice, rumour has it that he likes to be restrained in such ways; really, you’re doing him a favour, and you may just earn yourself a big tip.”
You sent a wink up at the commander, watching with inward joy as he grimaced at your development within your speech. “Quite a nice sight, to see him so vulnerable and at someone’s mercy, so thank you general.”
Sending him a smile, he huffed, whilst Loki tried his darnedest to contain an amused grin. It wouldn’t be the first occasion that you had made suggestions regarding the new troop of the avengers; even when he was around causing mischief, (which he still tended to do), there were always words said that gained the god’s intrigue.
Tony at the time, and to this day, despite him being a part of the heroic team, which Thor was ‘inclined’ to drag him into, thought nothing more than disgust at your meaningful jokes. In his words, ‘you two may as well screw so we don’t have to listen to anymore of this dirty banter, you in regards to reindeer games’.
How you wished right now, preached silently even, that Tony could bare to listen again, so that he could send in the team whom could deal with these aliens that were keeping your imprisoned. But all communications were cut, and that just left you and Loki.
By no means did you doubt if Loki got the chance to escape, he would leave you. It was in his nature to do so, but if you could pose a lack of threat, they may loosen up on their efficiency in guarding you. After all, Loki was the one they wanted, not you. And then, both of you could get away from this galactic nonsense.
“Humans.” The general huffed, causing you to grimace as the stench of his breath wafted through the air, and hit your nose. “You all think that you are so special, but when it comes down to it, those who are not from your planet do not care. Loki here, this god, does not care about you little one. And he never will.”
“That’s okay with me, because I don’t care about him either. It’d called self preservation.” You informed your captor, noticing Loki staring across at you with an icy gaze. Who were you kidding? Of course you cared about the god, but right now, you would do anything to get out of this predicament.
“Aw would you look at that.” The feet moved back towards the main reward of their capture, staring down at the green eyed trickster with mocking eyes. “This woman has attitude just like yours, if either of you cared, I’d call it a match made in Asgard.” A laugh bellowed from the wide chest of the being, finding his own comedy quite humorous.
“Excuse me, I’m way out of his league!” You pretended to be offended, bringing your hands that were free of restraint to your chest. They thought not to tie you down as they did to him, after all, you were nothing but a midguardian. That was their mistake. “What’d you want with old horse shagger over there anyways? Don’t be alarmed, but he actually does some kind of good now, even if it be out of his own self interest.”
A heavy sigh fell on deaf ears, as the protector of space glanced unsurely between the pair of you. “He has the tesseract, and I wish to take it from his slippery hands, he cannot be trusted with such a powerful source of energy.” His words bellowed a laugh of absolute surprise from your mouth, earning a frown from those keeping you hear, and a cock of the head from the god of mischief.
It was clear that not only was he confused by your supple, yet somewhat pleasant burst of amusement, but he was also in the dark about what in the Hela this predominant being was speaking of. Yes, he had had the tesseract at one point , however, no longer was it in his untrustworthy grasp.
Thanos had taken ownership over it, after killing many of the people that he had saved from the events of Ragnarok. It was not just some energy source, it had been an infinity stone all along, tricking the eyes of elders and the young to believe that it was nothing more than a harbouring of power. But it had indeed been the space stone, and it was taken from him, in exchange for saving Thor’s life.
The Guardians of the Galaxy had found the pair of them upon the aftermath of the wreckage, taking them in, amongst plans of taking Thanos down. It had been a failure, up until the avengers went back in time, going to their past that would not affect their future, so that they could reverse the affects the Titan had brought upon earth and everywhere else.
During that time, Loki had nurtured his brother, watching as he fell apart with the responsibility of their people, and collapsed into a spiral of depression. You had also been there for Thor, doing your best to take the drink away from the bulky god, but to no avail did you manage to succeed. And so, during those tormenting five years, you and Loki would sit side by side, both basking silently in your failures.
“I thought you guys’d know everything, but I guess that you and your highness are stuck in one time line; all of them. But for us humans and every lesser being, there are multiple, and that Loki that stole the tesseract, yet I say again, is one much different. And we are on the search for him, to stop his disruption and crossing over of the times!” An exonerated, and audible exhale of air left you after your little speech.
Loki smirked, at the premise of you protecting him with the admission of the truth. But he couldn’t help but feel a feeling of warmth flutter within his immortal insides, it was rather a nice feeling he realised. “He is quite difficult to catch, we have been tracking him since the time heist went sideways.”
“That’s because he’s you!” You pointedly exclaimed, unable to pin some of the blame upon the god himself. Sure, in recent times he had changed, and was much different from back when he wanted all mortals to kneel before him (which you’d willingly do if it ever came to that, though you’d never tell him under which circumstances that would be), but at the end of the day, that had been him once!
The tricks and the lies still remained, but he had found a reason to thrive, and a long and enduring career that he was well at tackling. Often, he made out being an avenger, despite the government’s rouse of concern, to be a bore, and that he had far better things to do. But he stayed, with a light in his eyes, and continued following along with the heroic traditions, breaking a few rules here and there.
“Dear, why do you always have to put the blame upon me? I was not the one who decided to put that green dye within your shampoo, but I’ll have to admit, did you look so enrapturing.” He was running a ploy, dragging out the time that you spent bantering in hopes of something happening.
Unlike Heimdall, he did not have foresight, but it was a requirement whilst the pair of you were on your expediting mission, that you check in with the base, via the comms that had cracked under brutal feet. And so, he spoke, with the promise that you’d return the conversation and leave all others in the room confused with your meaningless discussion.
“I did, didn’t I?” You asked, to which he hummed in reply, lightly nodding his head, as his feline eyes ran up your body, paying ample attention to how your limbs were free, unlike his own. “But I’d say fine sir, that the blame is down to Clint, and if I’m correct, may we kick his ass as soon as we get back home?”
“Of course we can my beloved-“ you froze at his choice of words, and it appears that he did too, suddenly realising his mistake. Gulping for a second he went to speak again, but the commander felt much inclined to but in, and stop the headache that was bubbling in his large head.
“Shut up; the pair of you!” His scolding made you feel as though you were in school over again, it was impossible not to drop your head down and try to contain your laughter. Loki too found such enjoyment in this predicament, sporting a cheshire grin to emit his emotions.
“I’m sorry, can you say that again? Maybe a just a tad louder?” You pinched your thumb and forefinger together to show how much, and it was clear that you were pissing this primal being off. He began towards you, and you were prepared to fight him, you were never one to back down, which was one feature upon the various reasons that Fury had initially recruited you.
Awaiting the first strike, you stood despite the others around you, your eyes wide open as you bravely stared up at your opponent. But before the fight could begin, a distant crash assumed preference in your ears, causing you to turn your head in the direction it had came from. And then, all of a sudden, a ship crashed through the dock, guns blazing from its side.
“What are you waiting for?” The distinct voice of Rocket asked, and obediently you ran through the terror, finding Loki already upon the ship, but then, he appeared behind you also. “Quill, get ready to go!”
Taking glances, you stared between the two practically identical copies, a light frown on your face. Both were restrained, yet the one that was seated beside Groot, whom was playing a game on some nineties device, was glaring up at the pair of you.
“An avenger, really?” The seated one laughed, mocking his once future self, as you felt the ship steer clear away from the scene. Your Loki quirked his brow, smirking at his self that had avoided the wars that he had chosen to fight upon earth.
“Yes, an avenger.” He responded, causing his other to languidly scoff. An ‘I am groot’ came from the tree, and it was uncertain in your spoken languages of what he had said, but either way, you were more intrigued by the conversation that was happening between the Loki’s. “And I’ll have you know, that she is infinitely more brave than you, you cower-some fool.”
“Oh, so we’re going there?” You asked, causing the pair to snap out of their mutual rivalry, and stare haphazardly at you. “No, don’t mind me, feel free to continue.”
“We’re not going to be unable to unbind your until we reach earth.” Gamora cut in, speaking to the Loki that you knew to be the original.
“That’s fine.” He nodded humbly, before casting his attention back at his alternate reflection. “And this woman, is not only an avenger. She was there for your brother when you were not.”
“Aw.” The other Loki smirked, almost cruelly. “So she’s your beloved?” He remarked rudely, and it seemed to break something within Loki, him wishing not to listen to the other version of himself. He decided he did not like him, and understand how you must have felt upon your initial meeting.
“Yes.” You went to speak, but instead, Loki stood before you, powerlessly pulling your face to his own, and colliding his lips upon yours. On impulse, you ravenously replied with much affection, clasping his jaw and allowing him entrance into your mouth. It earned a disgusted groan out of the Loki that had caused all this hassle.
“I hate to interrupt...” Rocket returned, after putting his gun down and having gone to the front of the ship with Quill, so that he could contact Stark. “But these may get those off.” He held a pair of golden pliers, that were far larger than his body. At the sight , you pulled away from Loki’s face for a moment, raising a brow.
“It’s fine, I think I want to keep them on.” You smirked, earning another sound of disapproval from Loki’s identical rival, pulling him back to your face. Wildly, he hummed into the cavern of your mouth, as the pair of you stumbled around on the spaceship.
“Bedrooms are down the hall to the right.” Nebula informed you, her voice monotone, and in turn, you dragged the god towards said direction, finally releasing all the tension that had been pent up through the years.

I’m Sorry For Ignoring You (Male Reader)
Word Count:805
Warnings: idrk
Requested by @marilynmonroefanfics: “I wanted to request a Thor x Male Reader, where the reader is Thor's husband and the other King of Asgard. He's like totally Thor's opposite, chubby, kinda short compared to Thor (I'm 5'6😂) he's shy and introverted. He's very devoted to the Asgardian people, dedacating himself to charity and all of those important stuff who help people. Who in turn, love him dearly. Thor has been extremely busy with the Avangers, which in turn causes his husband to take more and more responsibility as King and basically start doing Thor's role as King (they both have like separate "roles" as Kings)To add to that because he's busy Thor starts neglecting his husband more and more His husband has in turn to do more and more in Asgard. But one day he finally breaks and maybe faints or get sick from all the overwhelming work he has to do. Maybe Thor is with the Avengers when he ressives a messanger who tell him like "Your Majesty, his Grace, King Y/N has fallen terribly hill." The Avengers are like "YOU HAVE A HUSBAND!?" Anyways Thor gets extremely worried and regrets everything. Just Want some nice softie Thor taking care of his husband and apologizing profoundly.”

King Y/N of Asgard. Husband to King Thor of Asgard. What was funny is that Y/N never understood why Thor loved him. Or the people. He was just the opposite of Thor. He wasn’t tall, that fit, loud, a good warrior. It wasn’t that at all. Perhaps that was why the people liked him. As he was never a good warrior, he was an amazing peoples person. People felt like they could go to him and just talk to him. It was different for Thor. Many were scared to go to the other King. The son of Odin. But he always had Y/N make sure things with the people were going good. That was his job. Thor did all of the things that didn’t include the people. Y/N did. Of course Y/N informed him of what all was happening so he didn’t seem so disconnected from his people.
But they both liked it this way. Thor having his duties and Y/N having his. It was simple and easy to go on through life like that.
--------
Y/N sighed as he was informed that his abnormally tall husband was busy with Avengers things on Midgard. Y/N motioned for the messenger to leave after he thanked him for the message. Y/N loved his husband and what he was doing for the Midgardians. So he decided to take a few of his husbands duties so he has less to do whenever he returns.
“Sigge?” Y/N’s guard turned to face him, “May you see what King Thor needs to get done? I would like to see what I can do for him. To help.”
“Of course your highness, I shall see.”
--------
It went on for weeks. Y/N continuously taking on more and more of Thor’s job as King. Y/N continuously tiring himself out, barely being able to make it to his bed at night. Barely eating and tiring himself out. Things he promised Thor he wouldn’t do. But with Thor not there, he didn’t want the people to suffer because of his husbands slight negligence.
It wasn’t just his negligence to the people, but to Y/N that cause Y/N to do what he was. It was hard to deal with Thor hardly being on Asgard. Hardly there, giving him, yes simple, reminders that he still loved him. It was just hard to do much without his husbands reassurance.
--------
Y/N nodded as he listened to the representative for Alfheim. And at first he thought he just stood too fast, but soon he saw his vision go black and heard one of the guards yelling his name.
--------
Thor laughed along, “I must take you all to Asgard one day.”
Of course the joy was stopped as the urgent voice of King Y/N’s personal guard, Sigge, came into the room, “King Thor!”
“Sigge?”
“King Y/N has fallen ill. He fainted a few moments ago. I sent by one of the doctors for you to come back to Asgard.”
“King Y/N?”
“Thor, you’re married?”
“You’re gay?! I thought you were straight!”
Thor grabbed Mjölnir and turned to his friends, “I am very sorry to leave so abruptly, but I must go tend for my husband. I shall be back when I am able to.”
And he practically ran out of the Tower. The rest of the Avengers sat there confused because they had no clue that Thor was married, let alone gay.
--------
Thor ran through the halls to he and his husbands chambers. He slammed open the doors and ran in. Falling into the side of the bed next to his husband. He placed a careful hand on his head and caressed his forehead with his thumb. “Oh Y/N, I am so sorry for leaving you for so long. I am such an idiot, aren’t I?”
“No you’re not. You were helping those on Midgard.”
“But I left you here to do everything. I never even checked in to see how you were doing and I am ever so sorry.”
“It’s alright Thor.”
“But it’s not! Sigge told me everything. How you were barely sleeping or eating and taking on both mine and your jobs as King. I never should have made you think you had to do that.”
“But I chose to Thor. I wanted you to have less to do when you did return.”
“Yes, but who knows when that would have been. Y/N, I promise never to leave you like that again.”
Y/N smiled softly, “Oh Thor, what ever shall I do with you?”
“Always love me?”
He smiled, “Of course.”
--------
And after that Thor always returned. Each night. If he wasn’t needed on Midgard he was on Asgard. He refused to let Y/N ever faint or get sick because of his negligence. He loved his husband more than anything and would rather die than let anything happen to him again.

“She died through my hands.”
That sentence replayed over and over in your head, forming a continuous loop as you silently formed those words with your own lips.
“It’s not him!” you called out to yourself, since your reason had seemingly disappeared ever  since you first saw the person that was a perfect copy of the man you once loved.
You were rolling around on the bare floor, shivering as you softly punched your head to not get lost in thought again. The emperor didn’t even have the basic decency to give you any clothes back, only having the Citauri throw you into an old dungeon to keep you prisoner - or whatever he’d plan to do with you.
That man was so different of your Loki.
And the timeline both of you were currently in had exceeded your worst expectations, making you wonder if fate just wanted to torment you.
In this universe, Thanos never even got so far as to collect all of the Infinity Stones. Loki Laufeyson had won the battle of New York and took over this world, then somehow double-crossed and killed the Titan. So right now, he possessed the power of the Tesseract, as well as the Cascet of Ancient Winters. For what reason he kept that Jotun relic was unknown, probably out of nostalgic sentiment you assumed.
Afterwards, the God of Mischief had killed his brother Thor in bad blood, as well as torturing Natasha - the exact way he threatened her back in your world, when he was in his cell. Clint was still his servant, as it seemed. You had seen him when they took you to his cell.
He couldn’t get rid of all the Avengers, however - even though their current location was unknown. They were in hiding for many years now, probably trying to get their hands on the other Infinity Stones.
Also noticeable was the fact that this universe had neither Hela, nor Captain Marvel - so one good and one bad thing to compensate for each other. Not that they’d be a match for Loki in his current form anyway...
And there was no Dr. Strange on this version of Earth, your last bit hope to escape disappearing as you learned about this fact.
That much was all you had learned by now, mainly through tricking and manipulating some of your guards into giving you information.
All in all, you only knew for sure was that this world’s Loki was a terribly trong, murderous sociopath, intoxicated by power and loneliness.
And you had become the focus of the little emotion left in him.
It was hard trying to surpress all the voices and memory submerging in your mind. So there was nothing left for you except for rolling up into a ball, lying on the cold floor as you prepared to be washed over with sadness and guilt once again.
_____
“Would you help me recieve the greatest honor by becoming mine and mine only, Lady Y/N?”
How could you ever forget this moment?
Back on the Asgardian refugee ship, your Loki had asked you that very question, now popping up in your mind once again.
Every detail was still as bright as daylight, preserved deep into your heart.
You clearly remembered the small, green box he had summoned out of thin air, presenting you a plain but still incredibly beautiful ring. The golden piece of jewlery formed a snake eating itself - a symbol of infinity and wholeness.
It was just his way of being thoughtful.
Tumblr media
“I-I prepared this a while go, to be precize...but I never thought of being worthy” he had stammered and you found yourself speechless, admiring that very scene playing in front of your eyes. “A-Anyway, after all that happened, I realized that all moments I spent happy, were when I was with you. I don’t want to lose you again, Y/N! And I feared, well...that it might be too late to ask someday.”
It was most unjust that this most blissful moment would be interrupted by a great rumbling shaking through the whole spaceship - and even before Thor would crash Loki’s proposal, both of you were aware just what kind of danger you would have to face soon:
Thanos.
Your numbers had already been decimated by Ragnarok, all that’s left being some civilian refugees, injured and traumatized. The only ones capable of fighting left were Loki, Thor, Heimdall, you and the Hulk.
Yet all of your struggles were to no avail, only able to watch and scream and bag at the Titan, so he’d at least spare those innocent lives as he mercilessly slaughtered woman and children alike.
“Fucking monster!” Pulling out a gun, your mind went completely blank as you gave it some last, desperate attempt to save or avenge just anyone.
No bullet would even come close enough to pierce his skin, as Ebony Maw would deflect them to hit yourself and people close to you. “I’m not the only one you should see responsible for this outcome” Thanos scoffed.
“What do you mea-” Your voice got swallowed by a pained groan as you saw Loki, kneeling in front of Thanos and revealing the one thing he was after:
The Tesseract.
“You......took it?!?” The only thing managing to escape your throat was a high-pitched yell as Loki’s face contorted in disappointment and regret - just now realizing that he had put you all in danger.
They would’ve never went after you if it wasn’t for him. He had doomed his race, failed you and what was left of his family.
“How could you put us all in danger?! I thought you had changed! You swore it with your life, Loki! That you loved me more than you desired power!”
No answer.
Instead, the god would prepare one of his speeches, directing words of undying fidelity at Thanos and his arms. And even though it was meant to be lies, a play to make the threat feel save, every single word hit your heart like knives.
“How could I ever marry someone like you?!” feeling as if Loki most recent, selfish act was suffocating you, you could only whisper - yet he understood very clearly, the facade dropping in an instant.  “I-I hate you...traitor...”
If only you knew that those would be the last words you’d ever direct at him...
Loki materializes a dagger, desperately trying to make up for his biggest mistake yet, and at least save you, the light of his cursed existence, and the only thing he had ever done in his life full of wrongs.
But Thanos looked right through the charade from the very beginning, using the stones to trap Loki in their hold - and then, grabbing the god’s throat.
“You have what you want, Thanos!” Thor tried to bargain, “There’s even less than half of my race left. Please, just let us go!”
“Oh, I will” he spoke stony, then shifting his attention to the god in his hands. “But first, I’ll do you a favor and erase that disgraceful pest all of you were too weak to take care of.”
As he was struggling for air, gasping uncontrollably as he tried to free his neck from the Giant, Loki’s glare wandered to you - and when your eyes met, both of your hearts skipped a beat.
He smiled. In the face of death, the last thing he wanted you to remember was the good things after all.
And seeing the ring on your finger, how couldn’t he? Loki knew you were about to say yes - and knowing this was more than enough for someone like him.
After all, the God of Mischief was used to happiness being taken away from him as soon as he thought it to be okay to open up to someone.
But you were safe. That’s all that counted for him!
It was like his eyes were telling you “It’s gonna be alright. I’m sorry, Y/N...I love you.”
You don’t remember much after that, having a mental breakdown as you had to watch the love of your life perish - and forever thinking about how you had turned him down just seconds before.
A part of you had died with him back then.
_____
The creaking sound of the cell’s door made you jump from your dream - but the person which entered was one you had never seen before.
A monster.
It’s silhouette very much resembled Loki, yet his skin was painted in a dark shade of blue, with thin linings carved across his whole body. He had fangs and even horns coming out of his temple to add at that.
The beast’s eyes were shining in a threatening red, glistering contrastful in the dark hallway. But the worst were those black irises, absent of any form of compassion - there seemed to be only rage, confusion and hate.
“Fuck!” you screamed, terrified and fearing for your life. Shuffling until your back hit the wall of a corner of the room, you defendingly put your arms in front of yourself. “Go away! Don’t to-ouch me!”
Loki cleared his voice as he put the Casket away, not making any efforts to revert his outer appearance back to ‘normal’. He had admired it on his way to your cell, like he’d do many times a day when he was reminiscing about the day he learned about his heritage...
...and how he had killed Odin, his adoptive father, with that very relic, afterwards clearing the universe of that despiseful race of the Jotunn - making him the last of his kind.
“Oh my” a dark voice finally declared, “Seems like ‘your’ Loki never dared to show you his true form. Pathetic.”
No, that wasn’t completely true. Your lover had at least told you back then. But when did you ever have the time to talk things over and heal, being dragged from one fight to another?!
The Jotunn felt great joy as he towered over you, gleefully watching your naked body cowering to his knees, covered in goosebumps and shaking heavily. Your breath was clearly visible while you tried to cover your shame as best as you could, wary glare never leaving the abomination that was just lurking right in front of you.
“Wha- OUCH!” you hissed as the Frost Giant took ahold of your wrist, monitoring the pain spreading across your face as his touch would frostburn any skin he was touching with ease.
Loki grinned menacingly as he let go off of you, admiring his handywork as the first layer of your skin had already died, crumbling away to reveal your pink flesh.
“Oh, how I missed that” he explained, much to your surprise ripping a piece of his own clothing apart to cover the wound with it. “Your kind is so easily broken. It’s always fascinating to watch.”
“Just kill me already, you freak!”
Well, Loki had in fact spent hours after hours thinking about how to handle you, and yet he couldn’t decide. Obviously he would’ve killed you right away if it was otherwise, but he still had a soft spot for you somewhere deep in his heart, after all.
And it upset him more than he’d ever admit. So he tried to assert his dominance, to ease the feeling of weakness and loss of control.
“I’m only doing you a favor, woman.” The god would touch your cheek, making you flinch away - but this time, it wouldn’t hurt. Never would he dare to scar this most beautiful face!
“The man you loved was just the same as me, yet it seemed he wasn’t completely honest with you. What you are seeing right now is the form of a Frost Giant...the monstrosity you chose to love.”
“L-Loki…”
It was no surprise that he saw tears filling the rim of your eyes - yet out of a whim, you pulled your arms around his neck, tears wetting his robe. He gasped, unable to act in any way as he stiffened in the pose.
That was by far not the reaction he had been expecting - and he surprised you as well. You had thought him to instantly shove you away, beat you agaib or even bite - but he just kneeled there, not daring to make a move.
"Why?” Now his voice was much softer, pained even. “I’m a monster. I hurt you. So why?”
“I’m so sorry” you whimpered, words being interrupted by heavy sobbing. “I try to fight it, I really do. But I just can’t, I-I”
“Aren’t you afraid?”
“How could I be? It’s you, Loki...no matter what you look like.” Eventually, you’d face him again, wiping the tears out of your face when for another moment, you made yourself forget that this was a completely different person. “I was just surprised, that’s all. Letting me see this form out of nowhere...”
“Y/N, I’m not the same as him” he retorted, knowing very well what it’s like to lose oneself in daydreams and illusions to ease the pain of loss. His sight wandered around the room instead of your face, stating “I did horrendous things, dear. Tormented and killed countless. It’s unforgiveable.”
“So did he” you stated, even though you knew those two Loki’s couldn’t be compared. “And you should already know: I feel dead inside, ever since he died.”
“You really loved him, didn’t you?” When you nodded confidently, Loki sighed ashamed, reluctantly touching your wrist again. A warm magic would flow through you, healing the wound in no time. “I wish she had felt the same for me...”
For a while, both of you were plainly sitting in uncomfortable silence, with Loki even lending you his cloak to warm yourself up.
“It’s not him” you told yourself once again. “It’s not him. It’s not him. IT’S NOT HIM!!! That man is dangerous and instable. He can’t be trusted!”
And then, finally, you dared asking, cutting through the thick air:
“What exactly happened to me, in this world?”
Loki’s face contorted in agony, rubbing his face as if in deep pain. “Is this really necessary? I already told you. She died because of me.”
“More details would be nice” you retorted bluntly, not really caring if he was to have a violent outburst again. Curiosity got the better of you at that moment.
The emperor’s voice was low and husky, and just now you realized how damn tired he looked - with dark rings under his eyes, and more pale than you had ever remembered him.
The weight of his sins sure had taken a stroll on that sensitive man.
Tumblr media
"I saw the ring” he uttered deeply affected, “That’s something I could only dream of. Thinking about it, I think she never really loved me in the first place. Or maybe she just grew tired of my lies. Understandable, I have to admit...”
“Yes, it was quite the opposite, even” he continued after a long, strained breath of his. “She hated me. Joined the Avengers and tried to kill me, several times. Only years later I learned about the truth: Already far in the past, back on Asgard, she betrayed me. After I fell off the Bifrost, she thought myself dead - and consoled herself by bedding my brother. I had to kill him, I-I-I just had to!”
Loki’s hands were shaking so frantically you could feel it from over there, mad eyes darting over your physique to take in your reaction. “After they finally lost, I took her prisoner. Seven months of trying to make her mine, no matter the methods. Mind-controlling her would not be satisfying. So I tortured her, played games with her sanity, and- I’d rather not speak about how else I violated her.”
“You, wha-” Now you were the one shivering in horrid anticipation, “You raped me...?”
No answer. Instead he just finished this disastrous story.
“One day, I went to her cell like I always did. I hoped once her mind was broken she’d stop struggling to be mine. But she never did. You Y/N’s are quite the fighters, as it seems.”
“Wha- wwhat happened to me...I mean, ‘her’?”
A loud whine escaped his vocal cords as he hit the wall right next to your face, making you suck in a pained breath.
“She used her chains to hang herself. There was nothing I could do. Ever since then I knew I’m cursed to inflict pain on anything I hold dear.”
"D-Don’t give me that self-pitying bullshit” you wanted to shout at his face - but the cramping in your heart as well as the hyperventillation made talking impossible.
How could one do something like that to a person they claimed to love?!
“Go” you whimpered, already shuffling away from him and he could hear anguish and fear drop out of every vocal, and he realized you were having a panic attack. “Please!”
Loki closed his eyes, letting out one last, deep sigh. He knew he owed you that much.
“Very well.”
That whole night, you spent crying and screaming to your hearts avail, unable to process your current situation and newfound knowledge.
So that would be your life from now on? Being hurt mentally and physically, frostburnt and hurt and violated against your will - all while looking at a face that remembered you of happier days?
Never!
Things were just like that evil Loki said: You are a fighter!
And if you couldn’t help that crazy man, you would at least help yourself! The Avengers are still out there, somewhere. You needed to escape and help them!
How could you have been so blind all those years?
Loki - your Loki - would have never wanted to you give up. He’d want you to survive and live your life to it’s fullest, trying to make the best out of everything you’ve got.
Just like he always did. That much you had learned from him.
“I’m sorry, Loki. If I die, I can’t even remember you...I love you…”
Breaking out succeeded faster than you could ever think it would take - because when you’d finally get out of your fetal courl and wandered across the cell, you realized Loki didn’t properly close the heavy steel door back when he rushed away from you.
“It’s not him. There’s no helping that man. I have to find my friends, I-”
Still shocked and scared and traumatized, you didn’t even realize that someone was watching you, not even questioning that the hallways were oddly empty.
You sneaked out of an open window, bare feet feeling the morning dew as you shook away Lokis cloak and ran as fast as your feet could carry you.
There was it - the fence.
No one could tell you what kind of world would await you outside of that property as you swiftly avoided some guards, rushing through the all so beautiful garden.
But as soon as you reached out to climb the railing, you felt someone balling a fist in your hair, harshly holding you back and causing you to stumble and fall.
“I thought you to be different…” an all too familiar voice grumbled. Loki didn’t even want to hear any apology or excuse, kicking your guts so heavily that you had to throw up, cramping on the ground.
“Don’t you dare to run away ever again!” he now yelled furiously, "She tried it too...so damn.many.times…!”
But before you could even respond, he suddenly began to cry uncontrollably. “I thought you would stay. Do you think I like to do this?!”
His voice was laced with grief and regret, yet he kept on forming countless bruises on your body. “Why can’t you fucking love me, hel?!”
You didn’t know how long his violent crying fit lasted, with him weeping as he let off some steam on your helpless self.
There was no trace of the hurt, regretful man left you talked to in your cell earlier. After being finished, having reclaimed a fraction of composure, Loki pressed your face in between his hands, ripping on your mangled body to face him.
“Fate gifted me another chance to possess you, Y/N. And I will form you into a magnificent pet, I promise.”
