Research Study: Fandom & Generative AI still looking for participants!

I'm still recruiting research participants for my PhD dissertation study!!! If you've already participated, thanks so much! If you haven't participated yet, please consider responding to a quick survey, and sharing with your friends!

I'm interested in understanding fans' perspectives on and experiences with generative AI (text and image generation software). That means perceptions both positive and negative! However you feel about genAI, I'm interested in hearing from you. We're especially seeking diverse perspectives from underrepresented demographic groups of people.

If you're over 18, can speak/understand English, and are interested in participating you can learn more information and take the survey here. I've also made a FAQ post about the study that I've pinned to the top of the blog, and you can see more info on the shareable flyer below. You can also view posts on Twitter/X, Bluesky, and Reddit about the study and share info there! Spreading the word is greatly appreciated :)

The study is anonymous and voluntary, and you'll be asked about your fandom background, attitudes towards generative AI, and demographic information. Hi, I’m Emma, honours student at the University of Manitoba, and principal researcher of the “Mind wandering, inattention, and attentional control” study, which aims to investigate the cognitive mechanisms underlying mind wandering and its relation to Adult Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

We are currently seeking volunteers to participate in our online study. This study is intended for any adults, regardless of whether you have been diagnosed with, or suspect you have, ADHD.

In our study, you will complete a sustained attention task known as a go/no-go task. Periodically, the task will pause, and you will be asked to report on your thoughts and experiences just prior to the prompt. Following the sustained attention task you will complete brief questionnaires about your personality, prior experiences, and demographics.

The study will take approximately 30 minutes. You can complete the study anytime online at:

This research has been approved by the Research Ethics Board at the University of Manitoba, Fort Garry campus, and is being completed under the supervision of Dr. Nicholaus Brosowsky.

My name is Leo Walton, I am recruiting participants for my dissertation project on gender and body image for my Bsc(Hons) in Psychology. Participation should take around 15 minutes and is completely voluntary. Participants must be over 18. Ethics reference UoL2023_11946. Interview opportunity for transgender and gender-nonconforming people for a study run by a transgender researcher

Hi, all!

My name is Nico and I am an undergraduate researcher at the University of Texas at Austin. I am currently recruiting transgender and/or gender-nonconforming people for my thesis study on gender presentation and transition during the Covid-19 isolation/lockdown period. Each person will participate in a one-on-one interview (over Zoom, or in person for anyone in Austin) about your experience with gender and gender presentation in isolation. Each interview will last 45-90 minutes (no longer than an hour and a half, realistically less than an hour), will be audio recorded, and each participant will be paid $25 for their time. The interviews will be conversational, and conducted by me, a fellow trans person.

Are you interested in helping create a new research study? The FACE Lab at Emerson College is launching a new study on intersectionality in autism.

They are looking for autistic adults from a wide range of racial, ethnic, gender, and cultural backgrounds to record brief videos for our study. These videos will be used to learn more about how different aspects of identity influence how we are perceived by others.

Participation involves one half-hour, recorded, interaction with a member of their research team via Zoom. The FACE Lab will provide you with a $10 Amazon gift card to compensate you for your time.
