… Hello, I hope it's not rude I'm just looking for drabbles or anything League of Legends since I'm in the mood to read the LoL fandom content after being away for a while…
Coincidentally when I found out about Heartsteel when I was watching anime edits with LoL songs and I was like WTH??! And an idea came up and now I'm hungry for some crackhead and platonic cuteness (For Yone + Yasu) and romance (for othe boys).
So can I please ask for headcannons or drabbles (you can choose which is easier) of the Heartsteel Boys (Kayn, Aphelios, Sett and Ezreal separately) having a crush on F! Reader who is a game streamer and is the little sister of Yone and Yasu who is the living example of Wife Material with an affectionate and bubbly cinnamon roll personality?
She likes to take care of her siblings even though she's the youngest (Yone and Yasu would kill if someone hurt her, good luck running away from them) and spoils them rotten! Are they both always busy and stressed with the whole band and Idol thing?
No problem, she, with her divine culinary skills, cooks their favorites or prepares them a lunch box with nutritious homemade food or brings them some snacks after an exhausting day of recording MVs and songs. (Sometimes she likes to deliver it in person, especially if they are showing hints of extreme exhaustion).
Sore muscles? Nah, her angelic hands know how to work and ease any tension and pain. Do they need a shoulder to vent on? Okay, she's there ready to listen and support her siblings and shower them with comfort and words of affirmation when they're on the verge of burning out.
Trouble sleeping and sleep schedule being a mess? Enjoy her divine voice when she sings and Yone and Yasu are out in seconds for a nice nap (Yasu looks dead when he naps on her lap, if it weren't for his noisy snoring while Yone looks like a cat almost purring when she massage his scalp with her fingers lmao) or a good night's sleep.
Need help with other household tasks? Fear not, she is ready to help! Do any conflicts or fights arise? She is a good mediator! Someone being a brat? Nah, she just needs to look strictly and sternly and that's enough for them to stop being brats and shut up.
But she's also the precious cinnamon roll who is the kind of cinnamon roll who can kick ass if someone is being toxic and mean to her brothers because when she's really mad it's not a pretty sight… (Yone and Yasu are secretly highkey traumatized from the first time she got really mad when they saw her pissed off frown when she threatened to beat up a bully who picked on Yasu when they were younger).
But also her brothers overworking themselves? Nuh-uh! Not when she's watching! She doesn't care if she's the youngest, she'll scold them as if she were the the oldest and they are going to listen to what she wants to say, willing or not!
(My lil brainrot bonus: Here was a time that everyone in True Damage saw Yasu who was kneeling on the floor in front of his little sister for fear of irritating her even more while still being scolded for over an hour for neglecting his health while he was running on energy drinks and fast food and messing with his sleeping schedule, she understands that he is part of a famous band but it doesn't stop her from saying 'I know how important music is to you, but for Heavens' sakes! Don't sacrifice your health Yasu! I don't want to receive the news that you passed out and I have to visit you in a hospital bed!')
Holy...this is a long request but also this was my reaction reading it
I've decided to do headcanons since I feel their easier to showcase all of their personalities (also decided to add platonic K'Sante)
Tumblr media
Kayn
When he first saw you, he thought you were lame
You came on set to give Yone some food and he noticed how bubbly you were
But then he had a thought
You were kinda cute
So he nabbed some food from Yone
And laughed as you protested
Which got him an elbow between the ribs from you
Next day he was surprised to see you come to the shoot again, this time with food for all of them
Decided he needed you to be his wife
Started flirting with you mercilessly
Yone wasn't pleased
But you looked so cute flustered~
It was only to cover his own embarrassment tho
It's not his fault you're just perfect for him
A cute little thing for him to ruin ~
Aphelios
When he saw you, it was love at first sight
Like heart eyes all that jazz
Yone noticied
But honestly, he prefers him to for example Kayn
How could Phel not fall for you?
You were just perfect
Every time you came by to make sure Yone wasn't overworking himself, you were so sweet to him
Sometimes even bringing by food for him
He always thought he wasn't really the guy to fall in love
But there you were, making him all soft
Ezreal
You were just Yone's little sister, no one to be bothered about
But why did he feel so warm everytime you came over?
And you did often to check up on Yone
And Ezreal always thought you didn't mean much to him
But there he was, head over heels for you
And slowly realising it
And so was everyone else
The way he was stealing glances everytime you were busy with something
If looks could kill, he'd be dead
At least that's what he thought from the way Yone was glaring at him
Sett
At the begining, he didn't think much of you
You were just Yone's sister, someone who came over frequently but that was that
Untill he started noticing how you treated everyone
You were really kind, always bringing over something to eat and a shoulder to cry on
How could he not fall in love with you?
Yone's gonna kill him, but it's worth it
K'Sante
He met during an unfortunate situation
It was him finding out Aphelios replaced his protein powder with flour
He was furious
Almost killed Aphelios right in front of you
But you were a great meditator so you managed to make Aphelios live to see another day
And K'Sante gained a person to talk to
Since he's usually the one giving out advice, he has problems with opening up himself
But you were so nice to him and didn't push him at all so it became natural
Especially if you were staying for the night and he happened tobe grabbing a glass of water at the same time as you

Cherished memories - - Mason Mount x reader.
Summary: small concept of mason being a dad and spending time with you.
requests are open!
“I’m almost home beautiful, maybe about 5 minutes away,” Mason said, smiling as he looked down to send you a cheeky grin, his heart warming when his son’s head peaked through. “Be careful, I love you, see you soon,” you sighed contently ready to get some rest after being home and caring for Luka while doing work. You had already prepped dinner, and set the table, waiting patiently for Mason to come home after training.
You waited in the kitchen, Luka attached to your hip, he gasped slightly covering his mouth, you mocked him, excited to see his reaction as he knew his daddy was home, he kicked his legs making you laugh, and you turned to see Mason peeking his head then hiding, you walked slowly making Luka feel anxious yet happy, and when his dad popped out again he couldn’t help but squeal and giggle.
Luka extended his arms practically throwing himself to Mason, cuddling into the crook of his neck, Mason kissing his head and shoulder lovingly. “Hi little man, hope you weren't a hassle today to mama,” his eyes meet yours, all the adoration and love he has just for you, always for you. “Not too bad he had a 3-hour nap earlier today, we've been watching his favorite show just now,” you say crossing your arms as Luka lays in Mason's hold.
“Hi baby,” he whispers along your lips after he gives you three pecks, the last one lingering for a while. “Hi…” you say shyly back. “It smells great, what did you make?” he asks walking towards the stove after he set Luka down to play with his toys. He hums in delight as he opens the pot's lid, the steam hitting his senses. “Chicken Carbonera, with cheesy garlic bread,” you say walking up to him and wrapping your arms behind him around his torso.
“My favorite,” he says while kissing the side of your temple. “How was training?” he sighs leaning against the counter with his arms crossed, “It was fine, just quite exhausted I can’t lie, maybe I'm just sore from yesterday's workout and then recovery.” He stands back up, picks up his son, and then walks towards where you're setting the food on the table and high chair.
“And how was your day beautiful?” he asks cheerfully, making you smile as you remember what happened earlier. “Quite good, I managed to get a lot of work done while he was napping which I'm super grateful for, I got coffee in the morning with your mom and sister, Summer as well. Oh and also guess what?” you smirked making him cock his head to the side confused.
“He called me mama today, so pay up,” you motioned your to hand to hand it over, “No I refuse to believe so, he didn’t say that,” he says in denial while chuckling then turning his full attention to the little baby in his hands, “Did you call her mama today? You were supposed to be on my side,” Luka claps his hands and surprises you both when he calls you ‘mama’ once again. “See I’m not lying Mason” you giggle then cradle the baby in your hands blowing raspberries along his neck and stomach.
“God I love you both so much,” he speaks as he takes the scene in front of him. After the three of you settle down at the table you eat dinner, talk quietly to each other about future weekend plans, and visit Portsmouth after the game on Saturday, spilling gossip about each other's work, and talking about remodeling and getting a couple of plants for indoor. “It was delicious baby, thank you so much,” he praised as he helped you wash the dishes and clean around the kitchen and dining room area.
“I hope you enjoyed it,” you say then kiss his cheek, rubbing your mouth when his beard tickles you. He chuckles at your crinkled face before drying his hands on the rag, “I'm going to shave this weekend don’t worry,” you plaster a horrified look at his words. “Please don’t bring the goatee back,” you beg following him into the living room. “We’ll see, no promises Y/n” he teases sitting down on the couch, with Luka on his lap.
You hand him the bottle you prepared in the kitchen as he sets almost sleepy Luka in his arms, he thanks you quietly before handing him the bottle, you staring as he rocks him slowly to sleep, brushing away the small hairs that lay on his forehead. He sighs once he is asleep, his mind wandering to how the hell he got so lucky with you and now his little munchkin. “He’s your literal twin Mase,” you say admiring how his lips are in a frown, his lashes touching his rosy cheeks, and his steady breathing.
Mason glances at you, how you're propped with your legs to the side and leaning your head against your left hand. “He has your features as well, like when you get annoyed he does the same little eye twitch and frown, or when you smile you close your eyes,” he replies looking back down at him. “Y/n?” you look up and hum tiredly, interlocking eyes with those brown eyes you’ve grown used to loving, falling deep and lost into them, relishing the sense of comfort and relief.
“Since I've been called up for the England squad… It got me thinking. Do you think I'm a good or at least average dad and husband?” he says sadly, making your heart wrench a little. “I know I'm not home the majority of the time, with games and training but it makes me question if I'm doing the right thing for both of you,” you prop up and get near him bringing your hand towards his face, rubbing your thumb along his cheek and jaw. “Why would you doubt yourself handsome? You're more than what I could ask for Mason… no matter if you're not here. We love you both so much, look where he is at right now,” you nudged your head to Luka.
“Don’t do that to yourself okay? It's not fair after all of the things you’ve sacrificed for your dream my love,” he rests his head on your hand looking at all of your facial features making you blush and look down. “Still make you nervous?” he says trying to wind you up, “Definitely not,” you scoff sarcastically trying to calm the redness on your cheeks. He sends one of those toothy smiles, where his dimple pops out.
“I love you, Mason.”
~~~
As planned this weekend you headed down to Portsmouth for a small barbeque in his parent's house. The night before making your signature cookies for the coffee later while having a sit-down session. The car ride went smoothly, no tantrums thrown, just quietly enjoying the scenery. Mason constantly kissed the back of your hand and knuckles, admiring how wonderful you looked.
Mason carried the night bag as both of you decided to stay the night instead of going back home late, and you carried Luka as he was asleep. Everyone cheered as you walked inside, you quickly apologized before setting Luka in the downstairs guest room making sure to tuck him securely, not wanting him to fall.
You joined them in the kitchen, accepting the wine Jaz offered since she couldn't drink, while also helping his mother cook. After a while you went outside with Luka on your hip, Mason happily carrying him while he spoke to his dad’s friend. You sat in the grassy area on a wooden chair, admiring how Mason would stop anything just to focus on the little boy in his arms. “Have you talked about having a second?” Jaz asked, making you shake your head.
“No, not yet, we’ve both been busy, while it seems like a delighted feeling, being pregnant isn't on my list right now,” you joked making her laugh. “Completly understand,” she sighs rubbing her belly, “These last few weeks are going to be hell, but once I have this baby in my hands I’ll be so happy and devoted,” she cheers. You talked quietly, his mother and her best friend joined you later.
The night arrives, the air now colder as you sat around the bonfire, waiting for Mason to come back outside after insisting on putting Luka in the guest room you’ll be staying in. After using the restroom and grabbing your hoodie, well Mason’s you walked back out, now seeing Mason seated in the lawn chair. Before you could even sit down beside him, he grips your wrist, “Sit here,” he says while patting his lap.
He could sense your hesitation while you looked around, “They don’t care Y/n, just sit here, I wanna hold you,” you sat down feeling his warm arms embracing you. “I miss this…” he says out of nowhere, making you lift your eyebrow in a dazed face. “Holding you like when we first had met, escaping those wild parties just to be alone, in our own little world,” he leaned back bringing you with him.
Your legs dangled to his side and your head rested on the left side of his chest. “This brings back memories of that one night in the cabin with my family,” you say smiling, fidgeting with the hoodie strands. “Where you first told me you loved me, and couldn't wait to marry me, and grow old together,” you look up, seeing the freckles and now shorter stubble on his face.
“Seems like we're doing just right, no? Married and with our first kid, who's an absolute angel,” he says desperately wanting to kiss you. “Kiss me,” you say watching how his eyes dance over your face looking for any uncertainty, “They don’t care,” you repeat watching him smirk. He gladly kisses you, enjoying how your lips mold into his, the taste of your sweet chapstick pulling you closer.
When you pull back you smile and then frown making him worry, “What's wrong?” he says. You gasp and then chuckle angrily, questioning yourself how you had not noticed earlier. He puts one and one together when he rubs his chin, chuckling at your reaction.
“Mason Mount. You have a goatee again…”
Ch. 6: There is thunder in our hearts
“She’s got her memory back,” Dustin said, sounding relieved, “I only got like five minutes with her alone before Hopper showed up. He kicked me out and said they needed to get their story straight before they spoke to anyone.”
“But she remembers everything?”
“Yeah, she remembers everything again.”
Eddie almost melted into a puddle on this stupid fancy couch. Steve was glancing at him worriedly but Eddie just closed his eyes.
After they’d crawled out the gate and ran for help – it’d been clear that the right side up had also felt the effects of Vecna’s death. There had been a small ‘earthquake’ with minimal damage and almost no casualties.
Lucas had rushed to explain everything that had happened after you’d been taken to the hospital. And while Eddie wasn’t exactly glad that Jason had been one of the few casualties of the earthquake, he wasn’t crying over it. In fact, if he ever saw that stupid jock who’d tackled Erica, he’d be more than glad to give him someone to fight that was his own size. Although, considering the purple eye he was sporting, she did alright on her own.
It’d taken Steve, Nancy, and Robin to convince him not to race over to the hospital. He wouldn’t be allowed to see you anyway. He’d tried to climb out a window halfway through the first day and Steve had caught him. Robin threatened to handcuff him to a chair. So, here he was – at Steve’s house – hiding, yet again.
Dustin had been at your side when you’d woken yesterday and to everyone’s surprise, you’d asked where your dad was. When he was retelling everyone what’d happened, Dustin had squeezed his arm a little tighter and Eddie knew that had cut deeper than Dustin would admit.
Apparently, amnesia after suffering the type of concussion that you had was normal.
Jesus, you had a concussion. You’d been shot. Eddie just couldn’t wrap his head around it.
And if everything wasn’t chaotic enough, apparently Chief Hopper wasn’t dead? He’d emphatically avoided the man previously, so while he wasn’t as ecstatic as Steve and Nancy had been – Eddie knew you’d be happy to know the Chief was okay. If not looking a little slender.
“I’m not sure what’s happening but Jonathan is on his way over to you guys with some supplies. She won’t need surgery and when I talked to her, she said her bruised ribs hurt the most,” Dustin said and Eddie wanted to throw something. “She asked for you today.”
“Did you tell her – I’m – if-” Eddie stammered.
“I told her, I swear – I told her you’d be here if you could,” he said. “If I’m ever allowed back in there without my mom I’ll try and get the walkie in.”
“Thanks man,” Eddie sighed and closed his eyes. He couldn’t help it – he was picturing the worst when he thought of you. By the time they’d made it to the Creel house, everyone had been taken to the hospital. He just wanted to see you – he had to see you before he went crazy. “How’s Max?”
“Pissed,” Dustin snorted, “she’s mad they won’t let her visit my sister either. I already signed her cast.”
“Alright, thanks.”
“Yeah. I’ll call again if we get an update.”
Eddie placed the walkie onto the coffee table in front of him and resisted the urge to scream. Steve might actually follow through with Robin’s threat and tie him up somewhere.
“She’s awake, that’s good,” Steve said, bobbing his head. His shoulders fell, head falling back and a deep exhale echoing in the room.
Sometimes Eddie forgot just how long you’d known Steve and Nancy. You’d all grown up together, your house a few minutes away from Wheeler’s. He tried to imagine if Jeff had been shot, he’d also be worried sick. Which reminded him he needed to let Jeff know he was okay…
“She’s going to be fine, she’s awake and she’s going to be fine,” Eddie said, attempting to comfort Steve but ending up reminding himself.
“Yeah,” Steve said, glancing at Nancy, who stood by the fireplace – chewing her nail.
“Maybe I can go down and take a look?” Nancy asked, wringing her hands together.
“Hopper told us to stay put,” Steve reminded them, wary eye on Eddie.
“Which is fucking bullshit,” Eddie said, for what felt like the hundredth time that hour.
Nancy sighed, her shoulder dropping. “I know, I know it is,” she plopped down onto the sofa next to him. Her warm hand on his shoulder surprised him and she smiled. “Have you cleaned the scratches today?”
He groaned and Steve snickered. Steve and Robin had been unbearable over the past few days with making sure any and all scrapes he’d gotten via demobat be disinfected daily. Any time he protested; Robin would respond with a shrill: “Do you want rabies!?”
Eddie felt like he should somehow be a little worried about it but he couldn’t find it within himself to care too much. Not when he was still trying to clear his name and couldn’t visit his fucking girlfriend in the hospital because he could go to jail.
“Come on,” Nancy said. Eddie groaned but he hauled himself to his feet and followed her lead into the bathroom. Halfway there, the doorbell echoed throughout the house.
Steve’s head popped out from the living room and the three exchanged a panicked look. Nancy shoved Eddie into the nearest room, the kitchen, and hid with him.
“Should I answer?” Steve whispered, tone sounding a little panicked.
Nancy shoved her head past Eddie’s shoulder and waved a hand in the air. Eddie groaned. This was a fucking mess.
“What did that mean!” Steve hissed.
“Oh my God,” Nancy muttered.
“Steve! It’s me!” A man’s voice filtered through the door. Nancy’s eyes brightened and Eddie assumed by the speed of which she darted to the door that it was safe to stop hiding.
“Jonathan!” Nancy beamed, curling her arms around his neck. Jonathan Byers, Eddie had a faint memory of him and his little brother, stood at the door.
“Hey, I’m Jonathan,” he said once he spotted Eddie.
“I’m Eddie,” he said, awkwardly shaking his hand, “and not a murderer.”
Jonathan laughed lightly, as if that had been actually funny. “Yeah, we know.”
“We?” Steve said, peeking over his shoulder.
A girl stood there, her head shaved, and she grinned brightly when she saw Steve. Who, in turn, returned her grin. They all greeted each other and Eddie sunk back into his spot on the sofa – eyes glaring at the walkie.
He didn’t want to seem bitter but, the idea that everyone else seemed to get their moments just reminded him that he didn’t have one with you. The sofa dipped with the weight of another person and Eddie’s eyes snapped up to meet the brown ones of the girl.
“Hi,” she said, eyes darting all over him.
“Hi?” Eddie said, tone making it sound like a question. “I’m Eddie.”
“I know,” she said.
Well, okay then.
“You’re the girl with superpowers?”
She nodded. “Eleven.” With a smile she pointed to the ring on his finger, the one you’d given him a few days ago. “You’re the boyfriend.”
Eddie smile half-heartedly. “Yeah, I’m the boyfriend.”
“I have a message for you,” she said quietly, eyes deepening as her brows furrowed.
A message? He quirked his brow and pushed some hair out his face. “From who?”
“Henderson.”
“Dustin?” Eddie was confused, he’d just spoken to Dustin. His eyes wandered and he realized everyone was watching them.
“No,” she said quietly, hand coming up to his. “She said you would be worried.”
“Who?”
Eleven’s eyes darted down to their hands and Eddie felt the knot in his chest tighten. “She told me to tell you that she loved you. That she was sorry and she’d see you soon.”
“My Henderson?”
She nodded. “I know she will be okay. She’s just healing.”
Eddie’s mind completely went blank.
“How did you talk to her?” Nancy interjected, her eyes worried.
“I was piggybacking to Max and saw her. She…saved them,” Eleven said to the rest of them, “she said she hoped you kicked bat ass.”
Her cheeks flushed, but her eyes remained steady on Eddie’s. He’d known her for about sixty seconds and understood what you’d meant when you talked about her. There was something endearingly earnest in the way she spoke.
With an inhale, Eddie threw his head back and laughed. The entire room seemed to exhale at the sound, chuckles coming from the doorway and Eddie pictured you relaying your message.
“Eddie? Do you copy?” Dustin’s voice echoed.
Nancy scrambled for the walkie, hands getting there before his and he almost smacked it out of her fingers.
“It’s Nancy, we’re here.”
“Hopper says Eddie’s cleared,” Dustin said, elation evident, “I repeat, Eddie is cleared. He can come by!”
Everyone seemed to glance at each other before Steve was already scrambling for his keys. “Shit, okay come on!”
His heart was stuck in his throat and without really knowing how, Eddie found himself in the passenger seat of Steve’s car.
“Fucking step on it!” Eddie shouted.
“Do you want to be pulled over?” Steve exclaimed, despite the fact that he did speed up.
After a few tense minutes, Eddie saw the hospital in sight and threw open the door before Steve had come to a full stop.
“Jesus Christ!” Steve yelled. Eddie barely heard him; his feet took him to the receptionist desk.
“Hi, I’m looking for Henderson – she was brought in a few days ago-”
“Eddie!”
Dustin’s voice had Eddie’s head snapping to the left and he thanked the nurse before jogging down the hallway. “She’s in there man, she just woke up,” Dustin said, grinning, “Hopper said you’re all cleared – she’ll tell you the rest. Where’s everyone else?”
“Parking,” Eddie said faintly, squeezing Dustin’s shoulder.
“I’ll keep the wolves at bay for a while,” Dustin said, shrugging when Eddie shot him a grateful look. “My mom’s eating lunch in the cafeteria, I say you got like fifteen minutes.”
“Twenty and I’ll tell you how to beat Gareth in our next campaign.”
“Deal!”
Eddie smiled, pushing the door open slowly. His eyes immediately sought yours out, as if by habit. The first thing he saw, however, was a soft cast around your elevated ankle. His eyes widened as he saw the bruises climb up your leg and disappear into your dressing gown.
“Hey you,” you said, voice hoarse. Eddie’s eyes darted up to yours and his heart stopped.
Your left eye was a little swollen and the skin around it purple. The bandage at your left temple wrapped around your head and your right wrist had a splint on it. He frowned and felt a slow simmering rage build within his stomach. He wanted to scream, punch someone, rip a hole in the universe and put you into it so no one would ever be able to hurt you again.
At his silence, you shifted and immediately whimpered. Your good hand flew up to your ribs and you winced. Seeing pain flitter across your expression broke his paralysis. With quick steps, he was at your bedside, heart in his throat. “Princess, what…what did you do?”
“I kicked his ass,” you said, grinning up at him, eyes widening. “Wait, shit, is that horrible to say of someone who died? Oh my God, I’m an asshole.”
Eddie snorted, only you’d feel horrible about speaking ill of the dead. “If he was alive, I’d smother that asshole in his sleep.”
“He’s dead, Eddie,” you hissed, looking towards the half-closed door. “Besides, Hopper basically pinned everything on him to have you released. You’re the hero of this town, Munson.”
“Fuck this town, and fuck Jason Carver,” Eddie said fiercely, annoyed by your easy forgiveness. “He shot you.”
You waved your hand in the air, like a bullet hadn’t pierced your body. “He was a bad shot, both bullets barely grazed me. See?” You shifted your left leg, bandage on your knee the smallest of them all.
“Are you trying to excuse your almost-killer?”
“No!” You said, lowering your voice. “But, I mean, maybe let’s not harp on it.”
“Oh, I’ll harp – I’ll harp on it for the rest of our lives,” he said, all the energy in his body swooping out of him. He stumbled to the chair by your bed, slumping into it and dropping his head to your hand.
“Eddie?”
He waved his hand in the air. “I just need a second,” he said, taking deep breaths. He hadn’t known what he was expecting – but you arguing with him like you hadn’t been shot wasn’t it. He knew you had a rough road ahead of you, but it could’ve been worse. Much worse. And you were okay, you were really, really okay. “I get it,” Eddie said eventually.
“Get what?”
“Why you didn’t tell me about the other things – with Will and Billy,” he replied, and he did. If the other times all ended this stressfully, he got why you wanted to keep him as safe as possible.
“I’ll be okay, sweetheart,” you murmured softly, fingers scratching softly against his scalp.
Eddie exhaled, his worry no longer choking him. “Yeah, some superpowered buzzcut girl told me.”
Your face brightened and even with the bruises and bandages, you lit up the entire room. Air swooped from his lungs and you truly took his breath away. “You met Eleven? Isn’t she great?”
“She’s cool.”
Eddie watched your eyes find the long-jagged bruise across his neck, the one Robin harassed him to keep clean, and smiled when you frowned. “Oh, Eddie, you’re hurt.”
“That’s what you’re worried about? You’re in a hospital bed and you’re worried I’m hurt?”
Your small smile made his heart slam against his rib cage. “I’ll always worry about you, Munson. Someone’s got to keep you in check.”
Letting out a surprised laugh, Eddie narrowed his eyes at you playfully. “You’ve got some fucking audacity Henderson. After all that shit you gave me about being safe and not risking yourself. You had to go ahead and be the hero.”
“I know,” you patted his hand, “but you have to admit you’re the more reckless one between us both.”
Eddie gaped and his hands stretched out to the room. “Hospital. Bed.”
“Potato, tomato,” you brushed off.
He couldn’t help but smile, Jesus Christ you were going to send him to an early grave.
“I love you,” you said before he could continue bickering. “A lot.”
“Yeah?” Eddie said, shaking his head before leaning down for a kiss. “I love you too.”
Beaming, you patted the space at the edge of your bed. “Come on, I’ll tell you what the official story is so we all get it right. I stayed off the good stuff while the police came in to talk to me and the nurse just passed by to pump me fully of drugs. I want to tell it right.”
“Drugs?” Eddie said, sitting and clutching at his chest. “I cannot be seen with someone who’s involved in drugs.”
“Don’t make me laugh,” you said, hand coming up to your side again, “it hurts.”
“Sorry, sorry,” he said, his own covering yours. “What’s the wrist splint for?”
“It’s a light sprain,” you murmured, “the recoil on Jason’s gun was intense.”
“And you were talking shit about his skills,” he joked. You shot him a withering glare and he fought against the laugh building in his chest. “I’m sorry, that was the last one. Go ahead.”
Eddie could see your eyelids getting heavier and heavier with each minute that passed, the IV hooked up to you clearly doing the job. The sharp edge of pain in your expression seemed to lessen and Eddie couldn’t seem to let go of your hand.
“Did that make sense?” Your words stumbled together. “Hopper can answer any questions if you have them before the police interview you.”
“You know, I’ve never officially met the ol’ Chief.”
“Really?” You asked, surprised.
Eddie raised his brows. “You do know my occupation, right?” You snorted and Eddie took your lack of pain as a good sign that the meds were doing their job.
“He said he wanted to be in the room with you when they interview you, so don’t feel too nervous,” you assured him.
“Princess, now that I’ve seen you – I could not care less what happens to me.”
Your brows furrowed adorably and Eddie couldn’t help but smooth them out with his thumb. “I care, a lot,” you mumbled, eyes fluttering. “You can’t get rid of me that easily.”
“Never,” Eddie promised, serious for a moment. “I’m sure Dustin is barely holding back the whole group. Did you want me to tell them to wait after you sleep some?”
“No, I want to see everybody,” you said, stubborn as always.
“Peach….”
You rolled your eyes. “Just help me move the bed’s incline, if I’m lying down, I’ll just drift off to sleep easier.”
“Which is what you should be doing-”
“Edward.”
“Alright, alright,” he said, trying to figure out the remote wired to your bed. As he heard Steve and Nancy’s voice get louder in the hallway, he saw you smile from his peripheral.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
He turned to you, smiling at your obvious chortle. “Princess, it’s not nice to not share with the class.”
Your eyes found his, and despite the medical haze around them, he saw the undercurrent of mischief and lucidity that made him smile. He turned back to the remote and frowned. Why was this so complicated?
“I heard you dedicated your song in the upside down to another girl. Should I be jealous?”
Eddie choked, eyes flying back to yours and you were biting down on your bottom lip – hand on your side – trying your best not to laugh in his face. You were messing with him. While you were in a hospital bed. After being shot at.
Fuck, he loved you so much.
Tumblr media
The months following your discharge and Eddie’s record being cleared, were hectic to say the least. Despite finally gaining back your mobility with your boot - and your ribs healing - you still always dragged your feet when it came to your recovery. More specifically, your physical therapy.
“He’s a sadist!” You’d huff, annoyed before giving in and trailing behind Eddie. Turned out, despite being only grazed by a bullet, twice, you still needed to rehab your body. Your left side would likely ways be your weaker one but you’d refused to let it stop you. Eddie had watched you grab life by the balls and goddamn if he didn’t love you more for it.
After a whole week of doctor’s appointments, job interviews, graduation, and Robin’s birthday, you’d both declared Friday a date night.
Eddie didn’t miss you exactly - he spent most, if not all, of his time with you since you left the hospital - but you’d both been pulled in ten different directions that having dinner and a movie was nice. Finally being alone together for longer than a night was nice.
You navigated his, new, house with ease with your new cane. You’d been so excited to ditch the crutches, and Eddie was glad to see you move around with more confidence.
Although, since you’d gotten back from Steve’s house this morning - you had been acting strange. Your head was tucked onto his shoulder, his palm on your waist, pulling you into him. After another moment, you shifted your weight again and he narrowed his eyes at you.
Eddie watched you glance at the phone on his wall for the hundredth time in the past hour. When you shifted again and looked up, he opened his mouth to call you out on it when it rang.
What the fuck? Before he could process it and go to pick it up, you jumped to your feet. Squeaking when your boot wobbled, your arms flailed before regaining your balance and you grabbed the phone.
“Jesus Christ, be careful!” He hissed, a little tendril of panic gripping him at the memory of your bruises.
You ignored him, of course, and muttered into the phone. He rubbed a hand down his face and took a deep breath. The receiver slammed down onto the hook and he looked up at you. Eyes wide, and a little anxious, his stomach flipped. “What now?” He groaned.
“Steve needs our help,” you said, hands flying to your bag by the entrance. “We gotta go, now.”
Eddie’s hands were reaching for your cane and his keys before he realized. “Help like help, help or help like we’re under attack again? Because you haven’t recovered from the last one. And to be super honest, neither have I.”
“Regular help, I think, I don’t know – he just said we had to get over there right now.”
At your glare Eddie sighed and nodded. “Alright, fuck it, let’s go.”
Trying to pull more answers from you, but receiving none, Eddie just watched your leg bounce up and down nervously. He’d driven a little over the speed limit, getting to Steve’s neighborhood in record time.
As he hopped out and rounded the car to try and help you down, he heard a bike brake over his shoulder.
“Robin?” You called out, as if you’d been expecting her. “Did you bike the entire way here?”
Eddie handed you your cane, eyes on Robin’s red face. She nodded, hand coming up to her chest as if that would help her catch her breath.
“Buckley are you okay?” Eddie asked, trying not to smile at her comical glare.
She dropped her bike on the lawn and leaned over her knees. “Steve called me saying it was a code red, my mom wasn’t coming home for another hour. I didn’t want to wait.”
With a nod, Eddie walked up to Steve’s door and rang the doorbell. After a few beats, no one answered, and Robin huffed. “The lights are all off, what the hell?”
“Let’s go around back maybe?” You suggested, lagging a little behind. When Eddie turned around to look at you, you waved him off. He’d preferred to be between you and whatever it was anyway. Robin caught up, walking shoulder to shoulder when he rounded the corner. Harrington’s backyard was dark – even the pool lights off – and he fumbled for the motion sensor light he knew was by the fence. As it turned on, it seemed like the rest of the backyard switched on with it.
“Surprise!”
Eddie scrambled back, heart jumping to his throat, and his hand immediately went towards Robin.
The entire backyard was filled with his friends, family, and everyone had confetti in their hands.
“What the fuck?” Robin screeched. “Mom?” She slid through the fence and ran towards her family. Everyone laughed and music blasted from the speakers by the grill. A hand came up to his shoulder, startling him a little, and your concerned eyes swam into his vision.
“I’m sorry, was surprising you too much? Oh, you hate it!” Your hands came up to his waist, eyes widening. “I’m so sorry, it was Dustin’s idea and I thought why not, you know? You deserved it but I should’ve known you wouldn’t-”
You rambled on, right hand waving around in the air nervously, and Eddie’s heart flipped at the rush of affection he had for you. Of course, you wouldn’t have just wanted to go out for dinner for his graduation. His eyes slid from your nervous ones and towards the yard. Jeff and Gareth waved at him, both brightening, and the little sheep all beamed his way.
“Sweetheart,” he said, cutting you off. “This wasn’t too much. Thank you.”
“I just – you graduated! You know? I’m so proud of you and I know everyone else here is too, you’ve come so far and I just…wanted to celebrate you – and Robin, obviously.”
Eddie’s heart burst from his chest and hopped back into your hands. “I love you, Peach.”
The grin that you shot him, felt like looking into the sun. “I love you too, Munson.” Your hand came up to his wrist and with a confident step, you pulled him into the chaos. “Come on, we’ve got games, food, presents.”
“Presents?” Eddie asked, eyebrows wiggling.
The sparkle in your eyes as you glanced over your shoulder at him almost took his breath away. “Well, I can’t give you my present in front of everyone. I don’t think you’d appreciate your best friends knowing what I’m wearing under this.”
Eddie’s blood immediately started pooling into his lower half. “What are you wearing? Princess, princess!” He hissed, pulling you into him. “You little…I’ll get you back, you know that.”
Your teeth grazed his neck and Eddie shivered. “Oh, I’m counting on it.” The look in your eyes made Eddie contemplate how rude it’d be if he hauled you back into the van.
“Eddie!” Wayne’s voice came from his left and you laughed at his torn expression.
“Come on, pervert,” you teased, “you’ll get me all alone soon enough.”
“It’s your fault, this is what you’ve turned me into,” he griped, smacking your butt and laughing when you squeaked.
“That’s called victim blaming!” You said, having the last word as you were separated into the crowd.
“I can’t believe you kept this from me,” Eddie said to Wayne, who had a beer in his hand and a wide smile on his face.
Wayne shook his head. “That girl of yours is pretty convincing, she’s been running around getting everything just right for almost two weeks now.”
“Two weeks?” Eddie shouted.
Lucas’ father walked up, smile already widening, and he shook Eddie’s hand. “Congratulations son, heard you managed to pass most of your finals with flying colors.”
“I wouldn’t say that much,” Eddie snorted, rubbing the back of his neck.
“He got a B on all his finals,” Wayne said proudly, tossing his arm around Eddie’s shoulders. “It was mostly Henderson and Wheeler helping but he got there eventually.”
Eddie ducked his head and listened as they made small talk about the upcoming game. His eyes glanced around the lawn and Eddie had to admit, it felt…nice to have so many people that cared about him.
After Vecna, after…everything, the town had completely turned around. People would still stop him in town and thank him for what he’d done. While he still wasn’t Jason’s biggest fan, he felt a little uneasy about the sudden positive attention. Considering he’d been the town pariah for most of his high school life.
But that wasn’t it – it’d been after he’d met you. You’d brightened his life in every way that mattered.
Your laugh floated down to him from where you were sitting on the back deck, leg already elevated. Nancy was sitting next to you, her smile wide as you talked.
He watched your eyes trail down to him and you brightened when you saw he was looking back. You curled a finger, patting the seat next to yours and Eddie excused himself.
If anyone would’ve told him a year ago, that this was where his life would’ve ended up – he would’ve laughed them out of this town. Now? As you curled into his side and he was surrounded by his friends – he had to admit, it was nice.
Tumblr media
“I shouldn’t have eaten that last bit,” Eddie complained, flopping out onto the couch next to you.
Rolling your eyes, you turned to him and grinned. “I told you not to,” you said, watching him sigh dramatically.
“I told you not to,” he mimicked you, voice high. His lips came down to your bare shoulder, teeth nipping at the skin. You squirmed, laughing, and shoving him away.
“I don’t sound like that,” you insisted, poking his arm. He grinned and your eyes darted over the affectionate look on his face.
Eddie pulled you into his chest and you laid your head onto him. “So, we finally made it.”
“To our one year anniversary?” You asked, mildly insulted.
At that, he choked, laughing loudly. It echoed throughout the air, both of you on the back deck with the hot tub heating up for a dip later tonight.
“No,” he said, chuckling still, “I meant, we’re made it to Lake Monroe.”
“Oh,” you grinned sheepishly. “Did you think we weren’t?”
Eddie tilted his head and pretended to think. “I mean, when the entire town thought I’d murdered a few of my classmates, you were shot, and I was running for my life from demobats? Yeah…that did make me hesitate.”
“Wow, so what you’re saying is you had no faith in us?” You joked, smiling when he squeezed your arm. “I’m glad we made it too. I’m also glad I can finally say that nothing hurts.”
He shot you a look and you sighed. “Besides my ankle every once in a while. I work on my feet and you need to stop hovering protectively eventually.”
“I don’t think I will, there’s something about seeing the love of your life in a hospital bed with a black eye – it sticks with you.”
You raised a brow and bit you smile back. “Love of your life, huh?”
Eddie grinned at your, evidently, pleased expression and kissed you. “Yeah, Princess, did you think you weren’t?” He teased, echoing your words.
“After a year and the upside down? I better be,” you grumbled, wrapping your arms around him. “I know it took us a while but I am glad we’re here. It’s beautiful.”
Most of the first day had been spent hiking and swimming in the lake. You’d both stayed close to the shore, the reminder of the last lake you’d swam in still too fresh, but it had been fun. Eddie’s nose was a little red from the sun and your legs ached from the walk but it was so…peaceful.
The sound of screeching feedback had you both wincing suddenly and then the music boomed across the water and towards you two.
Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth?
Ooh, Heaven is a place on Earth
They say in Heaven, love comes first
The only time the both of you had managed to get time off in September was throughout the week – and thanks to that, most of Gareth’s uncle’s neighbors were away for the season. Almost everyone. The neighbors to directly to your left, apparently, were best friends on a small getaway. They’d introduced themselves to the both of you when you’d pulled up, offering up anything should you need help.
Eddie had thanked them and you’d teased him the entire day about how they couldn’t keep their eyes off of him. “They’re old enough to be, like, our moms.” He shuddered. It still made you laugh. They had been nice though, but were prone to random bursts of blasting music at ground shattering levels.
“For the love of sweet Jesus,” Eddie groaned.
While you genuinely hadn’t minded the music most of the time, you liked the songs, Eddie – on the other hand – was ready to throw himself into the water. It seemed your neighbors had a particular love of Belinda Carlisle.
You bit down on your bottom lip, trying to keep your face neutral as you sat with your bad leg stretched out. Eyes focused on the water - your cheek twitched when Eddie narrowed his gaze in your direction.
“I can see you trying not to laugh.”
“Me?” You said, overshooting and your voice coming out a little too loud. “That is…that is a gross accusation.”
“Mhmmm.”
“I mean, what’s so funny about a song? A simple little song?” You said, examining your nails pointedly. Your head bopped to the melody. “It’d only be funny if you were…somehow…a bit of a patronizing little punk about music. But, of course, you’re not – so…nothing funny here.”
Eddie’s eyes narrowed and you only had a few seconds to disentangle yourself from his arms and run towards the open sliding doors.
His arms curled around you before you fully made it passed the kitchen island and your laugh bounced off the walls.
“I’m sorry,” he said, voice mock hurt, and barely audible above your laughter, “did you just call me, your boyfriend, a punk?”
When you didn’t answer, his fingers danced alongside your hips and your laughter ricocheted up. “I didn’t! I didn’t!” You said, squirming out of his hold for a brief second before he trapped you again on the wide sofa by the windows.
You were both breathing hard and you felt his knees cage your legs in. His hands pinned your wrists above your head and your chests were bumping with each breath you took.
“I could’ve sworn I heard you,” he murmured, pupils darkening.
Always the instigator, you bumped your hips against his and grinned when his eyes narrowed and his breath hitched. “Actually,” you said, licking your bottom lip, “I called you a patronizing little punk.”
Eddie blinked and after a beat laughed. “You little shit,” he grunted, hands releasing your wrists. You wrapped them around his shoulders and brought him closer to you.
“Why don’t you teach me a lesson?” You asked, wiggling your brows. The current between you two crackled as his hands trailed down to your hip, the shorts you were wearing loose and easy to pull down.
His hand tapped against your ribs and his eyes softened a little. “Considering we thought we’d broken the bed this morning-”
“-I heard a crack, I swear!-” You insisted.
“-do you feel up to a round…”
“Four?” You said, laughing and wiggling under him. “Come on Munson, I’m fine. I promise, if any one of my various ailments hurts I…still probably wouldn’t tell you because I really want you, right now.”
Eddie grinned, shaking his head at your wide-eyed innocent look. “You’ll be the death of me.”
“Ah, probably,” you said, pulling your shirt off and flinging it to the side. Your hands pushed his shirt up and you grinned when he willingly let you pull it off him. “But wouldn’t it be a way to go?”
“Yeah,” he said, fingers trailing across your bare chest, “it would be.”
The earnest tone of his voice made the fire inside you dull down to a more manageable level and you pulled him into a deep kiss. His hips started to press down into yours, his right hand pushing your shorts down lower onto your thighs.
Children, behave
That's what they say when we're together
The music floated in through the open sliding doors, a little lower than when you were outside but the lyrics still just as audible. You couldn’t help but smile into the kiss and Eddie pulled back to glare at you. “What?” You said laughingly. “It’s a good song! Appropriate too.”
Pulling your hand from between your bodies, you pretended to hold a mic and sang along with the music.
“I think we're alone now. There doesn't seem to be anyone around.” You could tell by the mirth in his eyes that he was trying hard not to laugh but the longer you sang, the more of his smile you could see.
“Alright, alright, I’ll give on the timing,” Eddie admitted and you cheered at the win.
“Where’s my prize?”
With surprising speed, you watched Eddie fish for a condom by the side table.
“You left some on the table?” You laughed, surprised.
Eddie held one up triumphantly and shot you a knowing look. “Considering it’s us, yeah, Princess – I left them everywhere for easy access.”
“That’ll be nice for Gareth’s uncle to find after we leave,” you said, breath stuttering as his hand slid beneath your underwear to peel it off.
“I can assure you, we’re already running low,” he said, his breath fanning over your ear. “Less talking, you’re supposed to be learning a lesson.”
You grinned at his silly expression. “Promises, promises.”
Tumblr media
“So, our first vacation,” you mused, catching your breath now that your soul had returned to your body. “Despite the delay, I’d say it was a success.”
“Definitely not our last either,” Eddie said, joining you on the couch again after throwing out the condom. “London is our first stop.” He stretched his arms out, hands behind his head.
The muscles in his arm caught your attention, your eyes dragging down the veins as they disappeared by his elbow. The smirk on his face let you know he’d caught you.
“Our first road trip too,” you added, ignoring his knowing look. What? He was your boyfriend for a reason.
Edie snorted, his eyes roaming over your face. “I think there’s a lot of other firsts we have on the list.”
“Yeah?” You said, excited about the possibilities.
“Hell yeah, first apartment?” He said, grinning. “Because this whole having our own space was really nice.” He said eyes trailing down to your naked chest.
You grinned, immediately picturing what an apartment that was just yours would look like. “Stop it,” you smacked his hand as it snaked up to your chest.
“Who checked who out first?” He laughed when you rolled your eyes. “Our apartment would have a clothes ban.” Eddie pulled you into his arms.
“A clothes ban?”
“Yep. They’re restricting,” he said, index finger trailing up your spine. You shivered, closed your eyes, and dropped your ear to his chest. The steady beat of his heart bounced in your ear as you both went back and forth, laughing at the more outrageous firsts you could think of.
“First time I make you laugh so hard you snort out soda,” Eddie said and you huffed.
“You’re not that funny,” you joked.
Eddie’s indignant yelp made you laugh and he lifted an arm into the air. “See! I make you laugh all the time!”
He wasn’t wrong. A faint thought floated to the front of your mind. “Oh, I’ve got a good one!”
“Hit me.”
“Your first sold-out concert,” you said, imagining it in your head. A whole stadium with screaming fans and the music so loud you could feel it in your chest. Eddie with his guitar and, knowing the guys, some pyrotechnics.
Eddie laughed. “We only just booked a new venue and now we have the ability to sell out a concert?”
“Yeah,” you said, like that was obvious. “It’ll happen, mark my words.”
“Well, if this year has taught me anything it’s that you’re usually always right. So, I’m believing you on this one,” he said, “or at least, I’m hoping.”
“That’s a good lesson to learn,” you joked, “and anyway, whatever firsts that are on the list – I can’t wait to do them all with you.”
“Even our no-clothes allowed apartment?” You laughed, your body shaking and Eddie grunting at the movement. “Yeah, perv’, even that.”
Bucky Takes You On A Picnic Date 🧺
You'd been having a bad day- no weeks, and you were tired and stressed and it really showed.
You weren't snappy or anything, just exhausted.
And Bucky noticed, oh he noticed everything.
He noticed that instead of taking your favorite scenic route to the park every Thursday to run, you came home right away from work to rest.
He noticed instead of you going to your sister's house every Tuesday to visit her and your niece, you called over the phone to check in on them.
And finally, Bucky noticed how you never really seemed to have your energetic spunk anymore. You were so good at masking exhaustion that he almost thought he was being overly skeptical... almost.
So he did what any boyfriend/husband (y'all imagine what u want) would do. He arranged an amazing picnic date for the two of you. He had called your boss the day before and asked him to give you the rest of the week off, and your boss being the nice guy he was..he did- with pay!
"Hey- yeah- I know that I just- HOLD ON! Tony c'mon y/n needs a break and I think we both know that."
"Fine, and I'm only paying her because we both know how hard she works. Also I'm afraid she'll kick my ass when she comes back if I don't."
When you came home on Friday, not knowing it was your last day for an entire week, you laid down on the couch..only to find Bucky doing something weird in the kitchen.
"Buck-? You ok over there baby?"
"Uh- yeah doll just- OW. Just cleaning-!" He was trying to get the picnic basket you loved so much from the top of the cupboard..which also harbored a mess of metal pans that kept falling on his head.
He got the basket eventually
On Saturday you woke up to a very lovely surprise.
One, you felt very relaxed.. probably because you slept in.
Two, Bucky was all dressed up...sexy shirt and jeans that fit him in all the right places.
"Bucky? Why are you all dressed up?" You chuckled
"Doll, go get dressed quick. I have a surprise for you but we have to be there soon, ok?" He said as he guided you out of bed.
"I- wait where are we-?"
"No questions sweets."
You had dressed pretty accordingly to him, just a nice cozy summer dress and some ballet flats. You put on some lipstick and came out all ready to go- wherever the hell you were going.
"You look gorgeous sweetheart, c'mon now."
When you got there you couldn't believe your eyes...like actually couldn't.
It was the most beautiful garden you'd ever seen and the setting was so freaking romantic.
There was a pretty big blanket set on the grassy ground, flowers everywhere and this beautiful archway and holy crap that's the picnic basket you thought you lost!!!
"Bucky..I- oh my god I love you!" You said running into his arms and quite literally never wanting to let go.
"Love you too babydoll, so much."
You and Bucky had gone on many picnics before but you'd never been here...he probably found this when going out to the shop or something.
"Bucky? How did you find this place? .. It's just so beautiful."
He scratched the back of his neck and chuckled.
"I uhm- have a specific shop I go to for my plums and uhm I found this on the way." He blushed
You giggled and rested on him, this was perfect...he was perfect.
You both shared lots of kisses that day, and yes the food was amazing.
As for the rest of the week off...you and Bucky had a great time.
A/N: Omg you guys this is my time to shine and show off my ✨photography✨ Btw this is what I imagine Bucky and y/n's new picnic spot looking like. This what is botanical garden I think-
"Yeah. How'd you know?" He laughs.
"Your eyes lit up when I asked about her. You're also bragging about those boys, it's sweet. I can't wait to meet them they must be very special."
"They are mum. I've never felt this way before about a woman. I think she's the one." He looks at her with a giddy grin.
"Im happy for you dear, I can't wait to meet her. And her sons, I've always wanted grandkids. You've been taking a while too." Nikki chuckles
"You have four kids Im not the only one who can give you grandkids."
"You are the oldest though you've had the most time."
"Yeah."
"But seriously when will I get to meet them." She smiles.
"I don't know I want to fly them here maybe as a Christmas gift but she still wants to keep me separate from the twins so maybe next summer if I don't have any projects."
"Okay, me and your dad really are happy for you."
"Thank you mum." He smiles looking down at his phone when he heard it ding. It was you, you sent him a photo of the twins and Amelia at brunch. He replies before showing the photo to his mom. "This one is Flynn you can tell cause his eyebrows are thicker than Felix's and Felix has bigger ears. The little girl is their sister, Amelia."
"Awe." She smiles looking at the photo. "They're so precious."
———
You were finally home. You sat the bags on the floor as the boys ran past you to the backyard. You sigh and go to the couch flopping down on it. You look towards the window the boys are playing on their playset. You pull your phone out texting your dad letting him know you got home safely before doing the same to Tom. Tom responds almost immediately says that's good. It's about 7pm here so it's about midnight there in London. You're not surprised hes aware hes been staying up late to talk to you since you became official. He calls you right as you start writing a response.
"How was the flight? Were the boys better this time?"
"It was alright, yeah they were great this time. Luckily this time we didn't wake up early and we got dinner right before the flight so they weren't cranky."
"That's good."
"How was dinner with your parents?" You ask looking out the window.
"Good."
"That's good." You say.
"Where's the boys?"
"The backyard playing. I don't know how but they have so much energy." You say taking a deep breath.
"Is it dark over there yet?"
"No they have maybe an hour or so." You says standing up and going to the back door. You could barely see them through the window of their playset.
"So you have time to talk!" Tom says you can't see it but he's grinning.
"Isn't it late for you? You should get to bed."
"No I wanted to talk to you about something actually." He says, "so you know how I told you I'm going to take a break from taking roles for a little while? Well I was thinking maybe I could get an apartment close to you. I've been thinking about applying for duel citizen ship anyway with how much I'm in America anyway."
"Really? You want to move out here?" You whispers looking outside to make sure the twins weren't listening.
"Yeah. It probably won't be till after Christmas though. But I do still want to come down for the boy's birthday."
Tumblr media
"It would be nice having you close. And my dad will be back and able to babysit by then." You mention absentmindedly. "I'd like it but it's up to you."
"Okay."
"Uh I should go I need to get the boys asleep but I can call you back after?" You say.
"Yeah sure. Bye darling."
"Bye."
being natasha and yelena’s little sister would include….
You and Natasha had a rocky start
she broke you out of the red room, but then abandoned you, twelve years old and alone in a small town the America
she routinely would check up on you, see how you’re doing
eventually, you got involved with SHIELD as a teenager- fourteen or fifteen
you never thought you’d see her again until she called you out of the blue after that whole berlin-captain america-iron man fiasco
you’re sixteen ish now. Never knew your own age
but you respond to her call, slightly angry, but glad she’s okay
imagine your surprise when another, blonde woman is in nat’s company
yelena
she doesn’t really recognize you
you remind her your name and she brushes it off
“you’re not (y/n), you’re too big.”
“it’s been twenty five ish years.”
you explain your cryogenic experimentation, how, after you turned twelve, you were frozen for a decade, give or take
the mind control is the outcome of your life
you guys free alexei
you in particular, make a point of ignoring him
he is such an idiot, and you just know that he recognizes you
at melina’s you guys have a merry family reunion
not really. it ends in you storming out and getting kidnapped by the red room agents.
post battle, you and nat rendezvous, waiting for Ross
“where you headed?” she asks. “i can wrangle you a spot on the team.”
to which you smile.
“the rogue Avengers? nah,” you’d say, making only a face someone who knows nat could make. “i have a cover waiting for me.”
“where?” natasha puts her hands on her hips. “so i can come visit.”
”obviously.” you look out over the approaching army vehicles. “Queens. some high school.”
”maybe i will visit.”
“i’ll have my couch open.”
natasha hesitates, and then wraps an arm over your shoulders, giving a squeeze.
you find your way back to each other - dinner on 49th, talk about life, act like sisters
when you get a dorky boyfriend, natasha’s the first person you actually tell
and when Tony Stark invites you to be part of his family, you have one condition: bring yours home
the whole thanks thing happens, your father kills half the universe and natasha stands by you
those five years, she’s still there
you spend hours remembering yelena
making plans
working at the rebuilt SHIELD again
you become big at Stark industries and natasha still teases you like normal
she and steve and anyone else come to your sanctioned avengers christmas parties
where you basically all get wasted after Morgan goes to bed
when she dies, you don’t know what to think
you hate clint barton
but you know he would never kill her
he loves her almost as much as you do
everyone comes back but natasha doesn’t
peter comes back but even that’s not good enough (you kick yourself for thinking that)
Tony, your dad snaps and you try
you try so hard to save him and land him in a coma
when yelena crouches at natasha grave, you’re there to return her whistle.
you hold her while she sobs and gasps like you did
when she comes to fight kate and clint, you hold her off
but then that’s almost the last you see of her for a while
until she knocks on your door in the middle of the night
“roommates?”
it’s a proposal, but it’s also a cry for help because black widows do everything alone
so you agree
and yelena lives with you, and you two find family, the pair of you
Kate and Peter, Bucky and Sam
you form a family
a family of broken pieces but a family all the same
the fic i just posted as a whole is pretty Steddie Lite but it also has one of my favorite Steddie moments that I've written (both published and WIPs) so here is that scene
Read the full fic here: Faces Freedom With A Little Fear
“Munson residents, where the Chief of Police is on speed dial and a close family friend.” Steve winces at that.
“The calls getting bad again?” He asks, almost feeling the weight being lifted off of Eddie’s chest. They don’t talk about the calls.
“Got one right after you left. Spooked the hell out of Wayne.” He says like it’s no big deal. Steve almost believes it. Especially now that they’re leaving, they don’t talk about the calls.
“Hmmm.” Is all he says. Knots tightening.
“What’s up? Just a quick 10 minute chat with your sister or what?” Steve sighs, loud and dramatic. It feels refreshing, not even realizing how much he’d been holding in. Or how much he’d end up breathing out.
“I can’t find the nerve.” He lets out a humorless chuckle with it.
“Nerve,” He can hear Eddie’s eye roll. “It’s your sister, s’not like she’s gonna slam the door in your face.”
“I shoulda called.” He just can’t let it go. Maybe he doesn’t want to let it go. Maybe he likes having an excuse to bail.
“But you didn’t, so go surprise her.” He says, like it’s just that easy. And maybe it is. Maybe he’s making this a big thing when it doesn’t need to be. It can be a quick visit, say hello, go through the box, and that’ll be it. Nothing more to it.
“I could call her now?” But there’s always gonna be more to it, right? He knows he sounds a little desperate as he’s saying it. Half expecting Eddie to point it out.
“You could.” It’s gonna be fine.
“You’re not helping.” You’re right, it’ll probably be fine.
“You could help yourself by just knocking on her door.” Not probably, it will be fine.
Steve takes another deep breath. Listens to Eddie roam around the house on the other end of the line.
“You don’t have to say anything to her, you know.” Eddie says, saying the quiet part out loud, but still quiet enough for Steve. “About - about anything. You don’t have to say a word about it.”
“She’ll see it on my face. She’s weird like that.” He admits, feeling the lump sink further down his throat.
“Weird or intuitive?” Eddie asks.
“Both.” Steve says.
“If Robin’s suspicions are correct -” Steve scoffs.
“Big if.” At this point, Robin has suspicions about everyone.
“Then you have nothing to worry about, alright?” Eddie says, ignoring the big if. Having suspicions of his own.
“Yeah, alright.” Just need to worry about the house. Just tell her about the house and nothing else. He doesn’t need to tell her anything else.
“Want me to carjack my uncle? Could be in the city in about an hour.” Steve hopes he can hear his smile over the phone like he can hear his.
“It took me almost three.” He rolls his eyes, smiling like an idiot.
“I could do it in one.” Just say the word and I’m there.
“I’ll be alright.” Thank you.
“I know you will. Always are.” I love you.
“Can I call? After?” His voice is soft again, timid.
“Don’t have to ask me that, dipshit. I’ll be kicking my feet and twirling my hair while I wait.” Steve stiffles his laugh, shaking his head.
“You’re annoying.” I love you too.
Steve waits for him to hang up before he does.
A defeated sigh accompanies him on his trek back to the car.
“ everyone else can see it but you. ” + choiwen!
hehe ricky n evie worstieism is something that can be sooo personal <3
also i think this can be seen as a sister piece to this
-
Having a study period in the library usually worked in Evie's favor. It gave her time to get ahead on her homework, and sketch out possible art pieces. (And play Candy Crush on her phone.) Most importantly, it gave her a chance to terrorize Ricky when his English class had their weekly visit.
Standing over where he sat against a stack of non fiction books, she asked, "When are you going to stop moping and talk to Achilles again?"
Ricky looked up from the book he was reading and frowned immediately. Evie almost smiled at the comical switch in his mood. It was nice to know that he disliked her as much as she disliked him.
"Don't look so excited to me, Bowen," she grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest."I'm trying to help you here."
He turned back to his book. "I'm trying to learn about food scarcity during the World War here, so if you could stop bothering me that'd be nice."
She snorted. "We both know you're watching Achilles and Auggie like a creep."
The two of them were curled together at a table, whispering conspiratorially about something. Evie could see Auggie's golden hand resting on Achilles jean covered knee under the table. It felt weird - wrong even.
Which was a bit unfair, really. She liked Auggie. He was funny, and goofy, and he always shared his snacks with her in their AP Physics class. But he wasn't Achilles' person, and they all knew that. Even he probably knew that.
Ricky followed her gaze, eyes scanning Achilles' giggling face and the pleased color of Auggie's smile. His eyes shone with hurt, and he bit the inside of his cheek, forcing his gaze back to his book. "I'm not watching them. I'm reading. Whatever they do is not my business."
Evie scoffed. She hated that he was trying to be mature. He should've been fighting harder. "You're acting like such a loser. You're Ricky Bowen, the most annoyingly persistent person in the world. You can't just let some pretty boy steal Achilles from you!"
"Are you.." He was surprised enough to close his book, giving her his full attention. "Are you trying to give me a pep talk?"
She rolled her eyes, squirming under his gaze. His stare was just like Achilles' - wide eyed and intense, entirely too open and easy to read. "Don't make it weird. I just think you shouldn't let Auggie sneak his hot boy fangs into Achilles' neck," - Achilles' was hyperfixated on vampires and it was starting to seep into her brain - "You two have something.. special, and you shouldn't just try to force yourself to move on."
Ricky frowned. "He doesn't want anything to do with me. And I shouldn't ruin whatever he has going on with Auggie. That's unfair to both of them."
"God, you're so - " She cut herself off with a groan. He was annoying. "Everyone else can see it but you. Achilles is so into you that it's a little unbearable at times. You're all he talks about. He had the biggest crush on you for months! No offense to Auggie, but he doesn't hold a candle to what Achilles feels for you." She kicked him in the knee, to offset the sort of fond look he was giving her. Freak. "So get off your ass and talk to him. Got it?"
She walked away as he groaned in pain over his knee, ignoring the way passion was making her chest feel like it was about to explode. Stupid Ricky Bowen, making her feel good things for him.
as yours (iii); heartbreak
Tumblr media
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: sukuna ryomen x reader
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬: 1,464
𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭: fluff, comedy(?), college au, mention of gang fighting/ involvement, sprinkle of angst (future updates), idk what I might miss.
𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲:  "as a child, you have harbor a massive crush on Itadori Yuji; it wasn't until that college happened you dared to ask him. Trying to give him a letter, the one who you ended up giving to was no other than his no-good twin brother, Sukuna Ryomen."
𝐚/𝐧: this one is shorter than what I imagine. didn’t proofread also, rip brain.
chapter 2 ✿ chapter 4
Tumblr media
“Are you going to ask Yuji out again?” Nobara asks you, her steps falling along with yours. She wrapped an arm around yours, leaning to the side to peer at your face that looked bored.
You have a tired sigh, “When my pride isn't wounded.” Nobara uses her free hand to rub soothing circles on your back.
After the surprise visitation from Minomi, you guys left the library early since the librarian had kicked you guys out for the disruption.
“You guys haven't been talking to each other lately, too, haven't you?” Megumi suddenly appeared by your side, spooked you since you didn't feel his presence. You let out a few curse words.
“I mean you right about that part since Todo had come into the picture, dude straight up ditches me. Ever since the start of the semester.” Then you mumble something that the ears couldn't pick up before talking in a normal voice again, “I'm sure he didn't mean to, we hung out less than we liked, and I'm sure a talk could put us right back. On track.”
Nobara and Megumi only hum in unison.
“What, you guys don't believe me?”
“It's not that we don't believe you,” Panda spoke up from behind you, and you cranked your neck to look over your shoulder. “It's just that too many times had happened.”
“Salmon.”
“Even you agree too?!” You surprisingly shouted, and Inumaki repeated the same word, to which you let out an exasperated sound that is not understandable to the human ears.
After a while, you were suddenly home. Everyone seems to pitch in their opinions of Yuji even though you had nothing against the guy since you've been friends with him since childhood. Many of them say you're too lovely to Yuji, and Yuji is too dense to notice your affections. This made your conversation with Sukuna flashback inside your head. What a torturous week.
Tumblr media
“Big Sister is home!” A small body pops out in the hallway, the pitter-patter of their tiny footsteps down the hallway like an excited golden retriever. You only walked a few steps, and their body was launched at you full speed and force; you almost missed them. “I miss you a whole bunch!” They squeal and tighten their grip around your neck. You only give a few chuckles, with a few soft pats to her back.
You readjust your little sister Haruna, who is two and a half years old, in your arms while taking off your backpack and laying it down the hallway to pick it up later when you're going to your room. Haruna was a surprise to your parents; they thought having you was enough, but once you hitched off to college, they announced that you would have a sibling.
“You have a friend here too!” She happily told you with her big eyes lighting up like Christmas lights. Haruna is comfortable in your hold; her short hair tickles your nose. Sauntering in the living room, you notice the pink hair anywhere.
Yuji.
"Oh hey," Yuji waves at you with a cheery smile adorned his face, "my dad tells me to bring some cake and snacks for your family." On the coffee table, there were tiramisu cakes set nicely on four white ceramic plates and a saucer plate filled with macaroons. On the side of each dish, there was a glass of juice to accommodate the desert.
Setting your sister down next to you on the couch, she went directly for the cake your mother pushed towards her. Yuji is twiddling with his thumbs; he does that when he's too shy to ask for something, or he wants his mind to be occupied. He glances at you nervously, and then it flitted away to the cake set out. You wonder what's up with him.
As if the time isn't perfectly set up, the kitchen timer went off and your mother, who chirp happily, claps her hands together in delight. With your mother out of earshot, Yuji leans over (towering over your sister, who was busily eating away), cups his mouth, and whispers, "Do you think I can talk to you after this?"
Giving him a curious glance, your eyes roll to your mother, who hums happily in the kitchen, "What are you so nervous about that you don't want to ask it in front of my mom?" You whisper back to him in an equal tone.
"It's personal."
That was all he said to you.
Tumblr media
Once you guys left the house after eating the cake, and you calmed down, a hysterical Haruna cried feverishly, thinking that you would leave her again for college. You and Yuji walked silently next to each other, not talking. Yuji swings the gift bag filled with your mother's baked goods. Suddenly, without warning, you felt a blush forming on your cheeks as you were spending time again with him since it's been a while. Bringing a sleeve to cover up a smile, you look away.
"What do you want to ask me?"
"I was gonna ask you to help me with asking someone out," Yuji said, and your ears perk up like a dog, "but I don't know if she likes me." The young man paused in his steps. So did you. "I've been trying to pin her for a while now, and I don't know how to approach her."
'Is he going to ask me out?' You thought, your heart beating loudly in your chest as you heard it through your eardrums.
"So I thought it was best if I ask you since you're a girl and are my friend, plus you know how to read people the best."
Damn, you're suddenly crushed as the air in your lungs is wheezing out. So much for getting your hopes up.
"Her name is Honoka Shimei." Just as Yuji mentions her name, he lights up and looks up at the sky as he imagines her face in the shapes of the clouds. "She's a year older than us in college and is in the photography club. Honoka-san takes pretty pictures too! You know she also is..." Yuji rambles on how great she is, but all you can do unconsciously is tuned him out—feeling blank for a second.
Wrapping your arms over each other, you tried to calm yourself as everything you felt before was suddenly gone and is replaced with blues. Your mouth quivers, "H-Hey, can you text me the details later? I think my mom might want me to help her today." Trying to make your voice as normal as possible, it roses a pitch, and a slight crack made its way through, but it went unnoticed by the man who tells you he will text you later, as he was busy fantasizing about Honoka.
Turning around to leave quickly, you left Yuji behind and wiped your tears with your hands. Each time you wipe it away, it comes down faster than you can react. You curse yourself for crying and trying to convince yourself that it's fine and you'll be okay repeatedly that Yuji could like someone else. As it gets harder to contain your feelings for the man you've been chasing since childhood, you go to find an empty alleyway to weep. Maybe it's a sign that everyone was right, and your affections were too much for you to see that he never liked you but viewed you as a friend the whole time.
You didn't go home that early that evening.
Tumblr media
You texted and lied to your mother that Yuji is keeping you around longer so for her not to lock the door. It wasn't until 10 pm hits that you're at your front door, eyes stinging and nose stuffy, possibly red like Rudolph too. Slowly opening the door, you trudge inside and see your backpack gone from the hallway floor. Your father must've come home early that he brought your stuff up to the 2nd floor.
Walking with heaviness in your steps, you climb the stairs as if it was a chore for you. This week already felt like a year went by. You saw your backpack by your door and slowly made your way to pick it up. Opening your bedroom door, you went inside your room to toss your bag next to your bed as you went to your closet to gather a new set of clothes, then to the bathroom to get ready for a shower and bed.
Glancing at yourself in the mirror, eyes blotched up like a pufferfish, you were surely going to be questioned by your friends tomorrow.
MASTERLIST
NOTE: This is going up way later than I said it would, so I’m sorry if you were looking forward to this, I just haven’t been motivated lately. But  I really have to get out of my writing slump, and I’m hoping I can do that soon. Anyway, I hope you like it! Thanks for reading 🥰 Also, I know that Don’t Blame Me by Taylor Swift doesn’t exist at the time of early season 2, which is when I imagine this taking place, but for the sake of the story let’s pretend it does, because that’s the song I had in mind when I wrote the performance scene 😉😂
***
When Y/N walked into work Thursday morning, everything was as normal as it could be. She chatted with Elle on her way up the elevator, handed JJ her coffee as she made her way to Hotch's office, and ruffled Reid's hair when she passed him, smiling at the way he blushed at her affectionate gesture.
But when the team was called into the round-table room, and she watched as JJ presented their next case, Y/N felt a little sick to her stomach.
Over the past week, three strippers from the town she'd lived in for years before moving to Virginia had been found stabbed in various parts of the block surrounding Starsight. She knew the place well. Not only did she used to work there as a stripper after she graduated, but her best friend, Irene, owned the establishment, and she'd practically become the sister Y/N never had. She helped her through college and pushed her to go into the Bureau. If people, Irene's people, were dying, why hadn't she called or said anything?
Thankfully Y/N didn't recognize any of the dancers who'd been killed, because if she had, she'd feel a lot worse. But even still, she wanted to find who was behind it, and she would. The BAU always did. And with her background knowledge of the scene and the town, Y/N figured she might be able to lend an extra helping hand.
But first she had to tell the team about her past.
It wasn't a secret that she used to be a stripper. In fact, it wasn't really something she was able to hide. With someone as curious as Penelope Garcia in her life, Y/N wouldn't have been able to hide it even if she wanted to. Thankfully though, besides the occasional teasing comment from Morgan, and sometimes Elle, the team didn't treat her any differently. She wasn't Y/N The Former Stripper, she was just Y/N. She was good at her job, and everyone respected and liked her just the way she was.
While debriefing on the jet, she was about to bring it up when Morgan did it first, seemingly sly like he'd discovered some big secret. "Hey, Y/N, didn't you used to live near this place?"
She nodded, clearing her throat. "Uh, yeah, that's actually what I was going to bring up. Starsight is where I used to work before I moved here. I know the owner of the place, she's one of my best friends."
She could tell Morgan wanted to tease her some more about her previous work, but before he could get a word in Gideon spoke from behind her. "Irene Whitcomb?"
"Yeah."
"Good, when we land I want you, Morgan, and Reid to go talk to her. See if you can find anything out."
Y/N nodded, and in front of her, she noticed Reid was a little flushed. It didn't surprise her considering when everyone found out her previous job, he almost choked on his coffee, and Morgan laughed hysterically while he had a coughing fit. It was obvious to Y/N from the beginning that Spencer had had a little crush on her, and it didn't bother her at all. Every once in a while she'd pat his knee before she got up from her seat next to him or wink at him as they saw each other briefly in passing, just to see how he'd react, and by now it was a staple of their relationship. It never did go any further than that though, Y/N afraid she might make him too uncomfortable.
But even still, she couldn't help but give him a flirty smile as he blinked rapidly in front of her, still seeming to process what was going to happen when they landed. When he excused himself to go to the bathroom, she gave him one more wink and a small bite of her lip as he passed.
Morgan laughed softly beside her. "You're gonna ruin the poor kid if you keep that up, girlie."
"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about," she responded, even though the smile on her face suggested otherwise.
***
A strip club being almost at full capacity in the middle of the day was more common than one might think. It had surprised Y/N when she first started working at Starsight, and even now she still didn't really understand why. Regardless it was almost 3pm, and if things had stayed the same over the years, which by the looks of things seemed to be the case, Irene should have been behind the bar.
It must have been a sight to behold, Y/N mused as she and her colleagues navigated through the club in search of its owner, and it sounded like the beginning to a bad joke— a former stripper turned FBI agent, a guy who looks like he just walked straight out of a procedural cop show, and an adorably and obviously nervous skinny kid with glasses and trembling hands walk into a strip club at 3pm... The thought made Y/N laugh to herself, right before Irene spotted her.
"Y/N!"
It was obvious that she wanted to jump over the bar and give her old friend a hug, but given the circumstances, Irene settled for dropping a shot glass, spilling the drink on the counter, and clapping her hands quickly a few times in succession. A wide smile and kind eyes greeted the three agents as they approached.
"Irene, hi," Y/N greeted with a large smile of her own. "I wish I could have came to visit under better circumstances."
"Right, me too..." The blonde woman's smile faded for a second, just long enough that the recognizable signs of grief came and go quickly before replacing themselves with bittersweet niceties. "Anyway, you wanna introduce me to your friends?"
"Yeah, Irene, these are my colleagues, Derek Morgan and Spencer Reid."
Irene reached out to shake their hands, eyeing up Morgan with only the slightest bit of shame, and laughing softly at Reid's polite avoidance of the gesture as he settled on a wave and a shy smile.
"We were hoping to ask you a few questions about the past week," Morgan said.
"Yeah, anything. Just give me a minute to clean this up and we can sit down."
***
"So, you used to work here?"
Y/N laughed, kicking Derek under the table. "Yep. Looks exactly the same as when I left, too. Only difference is that I'm not here to bring everyone in on Friday nights."
As Derek laughed, Spencer tensed up beside Y/N, and he started to play with his hands under the table they all sat at.
"She's not joking," Irene said as she approached the table with a smile. She took the seat next to Morgan and gave him a wink. "Petite Etoile over here was the main attraction."
Y/N groaned a little. "Oh, c'mon Irene, don't use my nickname here, that's not who I am anymore."
"Don't tell me you've lost your shine, Little Star." From the tone in her voice to the look on her face, it was clear to Y/N that Irene was just as devious as she'd been since the day they first met. "You know it would just break this town's heart."
"I highly doubt that... Besides, this little star shines just as brightly as it used to, thank you very much."
At that statement, Y/N felt Reid's knee hit the table with a loud thud. As Morgan questioned whether he was okay, she wondered what was running through his head. It didn't last long though, because shortly afterwards Morgan started asking questions about the case.
"Was it particularly crowded on the nights the dancers were killed?"
Irene hugged her arms to her stomach, her eyes drooping a little at the mention. "It gets pretty crowded every night to tell you the truth. But Friday nights are busiest. The nights Carrie, Lola, and Evelyn disappeared were just like any other night here."
"I know how hard it is to keep track of everyone, but is there anyone you might have noticed that seemed a little too lurk-y?" Even as she asked the question, Y/N felt like she already knew the answer.
And Irene really did seem to try to recall something, anything that could help, but she was visibly frustrated, tears welling in her eyes. "No, Y/N, I'm so sorry. After Carrie... the first time... we heightened security and everything, but it just wasn't enough, I... I don't know what to do."
Y/N reached across the table to grab her friend's hand. "It's okay, 'Rene. We're gonna figure this out, alright? I promise you."
Through tears, the blonde smiled and squeezed Y/N's hand. "I know you will, Little Star."
"Would it be possible for us to look at your surveillance tapes?" Reid asked quietly.
Irene looked up at him and nodded, still squeezing Y/N's hand. "Anything you need."
***
"So... Little Star, huh?"
Y/N rolled her eyes with a smile as she, Morgan, and Reid got into the car. When she got in the passenger seat, she waited for Morgan to be in the car before responding. "Oh, don't start. I swear to God, Derek, if you start calling me that I might just have to kick your ass."
"Well, you gotta at least tell me how you got the name?" he laughed, putting on his seatbelt while Reid climbed in the back.
"Well, how do you think? The place is called Starsight after all... So, Petite Etoile just made sense."
It was obvious that she was lying to get him to drop it, so Morgan kept pushing. "Okay, sure, but that's not the whole truth. Carrie, Lola, and Evelyn didn't have star names."
"Ugh, okay, fine, if I tell you will you shut up about it?"
"Promise."
Y/N caught a glimpse of Reid in the back through the rearview mirror. As expected, he was fidgety and just a little red.
She sighed and waited until Morgan pulled out of the parking lot to talk. "Okay. Once every month Starsight does a 'Midnight Sky' theme night. They light the place up in deep blue lights and everyone wears... space-themed outfits. Every dancer does their own special routine with songs and outfits that they pick on their own. My first time working a theme night, everyone seemed to really like what I did; I ended up doing an encore later in the night before we closed. Another dancer who worked with us at the time, Jenny, was learning French, so after my performance she called me Petite Etoile, and it just stuck."
"Okay, but why did you get the nickname and no one else?" Morgan asked with a smug smile. He knew she was still holding something back.
"Do you really want to know?"
"Yes, Y/N, I really want to know."
She sighed. "Let's... just say my outfit was... well, it barely covered me, and what it did manage to cover was covered by fabric in the shape of stars."
While Morgan laughed, Y/N looked in the mirror to see Reid with his head low, even more red than he was before. He was biting his bottom lip and fiddling the the seatbelt strap, and when his eyes briefly met hers in the mirror he was quick to avoid eye contact once again. If Y/N didn't find it completely adorable she would have felt more badly about it. But just to make sure, she called out to him.
"Reid, you okay back there?"
He looked up to meet her eyes again through the mirror, but only briefly before trying to ook anywhere else. "O-oh, yeah, I'm... I'm good."
Morgan laughed. "Yeah, I bet you are."
Y/N punched him in the arm and met Reid's eyes once more. "Sorry."
"Oh, you don't have anything to be sorry about, it's... it's okay, really, I-I'm not... it's..."
"Hey, don't worry about it," Y/N said calmly, giving him a reassuring smile. "We're all good here, right?"
"Right," Morgan and Reid said one after the other.
"Good. Now let's catch this creep."
***
Unfortunately no one had gotten much of anywhere in the next few hours. The security footage showed a man following each of the girls out of Starsight but there wasn't anything distinctive about him. Somehow he'd avoided all the cameras face to face, so he knew where they all were. And as for how he chose which dancers to target they weren't sure.
Until Irene walked into the station, that is.
"Y/N, I completely forgot something! I can't believe I missed it."
She stood before the team in the office that the station had given them for the time being, everyone else sitting down. Y/N stood up and nodded. "What is it?"
"Carrie, Lola, and Evelyn were all Spotlight Performers."
"What does that mean?" Elle asked from behind them.
Y/N turned to the group, her arms crossed. "Every other night Starsight spotlights a different dancer for a large performance at the end of the night, sort of like a grand finale before the club closes."
"So you're saying each of the girls was the Spotlight Performer on the nights they went missing?" Hotch asked, more like a clarification than a question.
"Yeah, Carrie on Saturday, Lola on Monday, and Evelyn on Wednesday," Irene said frantically.
Y/N reached out to grab her hand. "Well, it's Thursday. So, if he sticks to pattern, he's going after tomorrow's Spotlight Performer. Who do you have lined up?"
"Well, no one yet. After the murders the girls have been hesitant to schedule, and I don't blame them... So what should I do?"
Before Y/N could answer, Hotch did. "Y/L/N, you haven't gone undercover before, but I think it would be a good idea. You used to work at Starsight, you could lure him out."
She turned around sharply. "Oh, I... I don't know, Hotch, I haven't danced in so long, I'm not sure I—"
"He's right," Gideon interrupted. "It's the best chance we have at catching him."
Between Hotch and Gideon's opinions on the matter, Y/N knew she didn't have a say anymore.
"You still know your routine, Petite Etoile?" Irene asked, only slightly amused.
"Petite Etoile?" Elle wondered aloud.
Y/N heard Morgan laugh and she sighed.
***
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you were nervous," Irene said as she straightened another piece of Y/N's hair.
She played with the hem of the sheer robe she was wearing. "Well, I'm about to go undercover for the first time, stripping for the first time in years in front of all my colleagues so I can lure out a serial killer, so I guess you could say I'm a little nervous."
"Well... When you put it like that..."
Y/N looked up at her friend. "I'm sorry, Irene. Really, I'm okay, and we will get him, I promise."
"No, I know you will. I'm not worried. So... Who do they have watching you tonight?"
"Gideon and Hotch are outside, but Elle, Morgan, and Reid are in here with me. There are some extra officers all around the block, too, just in case."
"Hmm," Irene mused, and Y/N could tell she wanted to say something.
"What?"
"I don't know, it just surprises me they'd send Reid in here of all people. He seems almost more nervous than you."
Y/N laughed. "Well, when it comes to girls he gets a little nervous, but... he's good at his job."
"I'll take your word for it. But I also wouldn't be surprised if he short circuits when he sees you up there."
The thought made her smile a little, though she wondered how badly Morgan would tease him about the whole situation. Things between them all would no doubt be a little awkward for a while, but in no time they'd go back to normal like it never happened. At least that's what she told herself, because she wasn't sure what she'd do if her friendship with Reid was permanently damaged and awkward because of her past. The thought worried her just a little, but before she could get too psyched out, a knock at the door brought her back to reality.
"Y/N, it's Elle."
"Come on in!"
Y/N got up from the chair and turned around to meet Elle in the doorway. Her eyes wandered for a moment before nodding with a smirk. "Damn. Petite Etoile indeed."
Despite the nerves, Y/N smiled. "You here to give me an earpiece?"
Elle nodded and closed the door behind her. As she turned on the device and handed it to Y/N, she spoke. "You nervous?"
"A little, but it's just because I haven't done this in a while. Not to mention I'm doing it in front of everyone, and I'm luring out the unsub."
"No pressure, right?"
Y/N laughed, adjusting the earpiece and taking a deep breath. "It'll be fine. How long until I go on?"
"Five minutes. I'll be near the front with Reid. Morgan is in the back with a few officers, and everyone else is outside. We all have communication with you, so if we see him we'll let you know what to look out for."
"Got it."
"Y/L/N, can you hear me?" It was Hotch's voice through the earpiece.
"Yeah, loud and clear."
"Good. We're all in position. Whenever you're ready."
***
Elle met him near the front of the stage. To say he was nervous would be an understatement. Spencer didn't have a problem with strip clubs in the least, but it was bad enough that he'd thought about Y/N on multiple occasions in his dreams, now he was going to have to see her stripping just like he'd imagined many times over. The whole situation spelled out disaster, and if she didn't already know he had a crush on her, she most certainly would when the night was over.
As Elle approached him, he took a deep breath and stretched out his hands to calm his nerves. "She okay?"
Elle nodded. "Ready to go. I'm gonna stand on the other side of the stage, keep a look out for anyone who seems like he could be our guy."
"Right."
Before she left, Elle patted him on the shoulder and smiled knowingly. "Oh, and Reid... Try not to get distracted."
Yeah. He was fucked.
When the music that was playing stopped and the lights started to shift, Spencer took another deep breath. Irene's familiar voice came through the speakers.
"Thank you for coming to Starsight. Tonight's Spotlight Performer is a special one. Returning to the stage for the first time in years, shining brighter and better than ever before, give it up for our very own little star, Petite Etoile!"
A deep, seductive song that Spencer didn't recognize replaced Irene's voice as the lights shifted again, and the crowd around him applauded. It was just as crowded as it had been when he, Morgan, and Y/N met Irene the day before, but with a serial killer no doubt present and Y/N about to come on stage, everything felt heavier.
A dark silhouette broke through fog on the stage, and even though Spencer knew it was Y/N, it didn't feel real. He'd only ever seen her at work, in work clothes, and sometimes in casual clothes when they all went out for drinks on occasion.
So when she finally came into view, her hair tumbling down her back and shoulders rather than in a ponytail, and wearing almost nothing at all, he wasn't even sure it was her for a split second. But the way she looked, her magnetic presence and the way she carried herself across the stage was so remarkably her it was hard to miss. Everything about her confidence was elevated in that moment, and his own confidence—in his job and ability to function as a human being—was completely shattered when she caught his eye. It was just a split second, but that was all it took.
She must have noticed, because she gave him a small smile and a wink before turning her attention to the rest of the crowd as the music built. Spencer cleared his throat softly before glancing around, trying his best to scan everyone for anything suspicious. When he was sure there was nothing around him to be concerned about, he reluctantly let his eyes wander back to the stage.
By now Y/N had rid herself of the sheer robe that was on her, leaving her in a deep blue one-piece... contraption was the only word he could come up with. It was all connected by thin straps of fabric that weaved around every curve of her body, crisscrossing and leaving little to the imagination. Just like she'd described back in the car yesterday, small patches of fabric shaped like stars covered the front of her breasts and...
The second he looked down, she squatted, spreading her legs open and rolling her hips, exposing almost the entire front three rows of people to her barely-clothed pussy.
Spencer felt his cheeks grow warm as he quickly averted his gaze and pretended to survey the crowd again. To his credit, he did really search for anyone who could be the unsub, but the whole time he heard the song and the cheering crowd, and in turn Y/N occupied almost every corner of his brain.
When he finally had the courage to look at the stage again, she was making her way to a chair in the middle. Every step was on beat to the music and purposeful. She danced around the chair for a bit before another big beat drop in the song happened, and she squatted in front of it quickly, rolling her hips as she slowly got up.
Her eyes found his once more as she mouthed along to the words of the song, almost like she was singing directly to him. He wouldn't have thought anything of it, but she held his gaze for much longer than he'd been able to handle, and she knew exactly what she was doing. Which was made evident when she bit her bottom lip and ran her hands down her body, stopping at her knees before she sat in the chair and spread her legs, her hands finally dragging along the insides of her thigh.
Her eyes remained on him the entire time.
Butterflies immediately erupted in his stomach at her intensity, stronger than they'd ever been before. He'd always felt it when she affectionately ruffled his hair or patted his knee in passing, but now? She wasn't even touching him and he was about to crumble to the ground.
Thankfully something in his ear saved him from that. "I've got a visual." It was Morgan. "He's in the back, black long sleeve and jeans. Buzzcut. Y/N, look up at me and blink three times when you see him."
Reid looked up and and noticed her doing it. To anyone else it wouldn't have seemed out of pace, but he could tell she was a little rattled. In any case, she broke contact with Morgan and continued on with her performance as if nothing happened.
Though it meant there was most definitely a serial killer in the room and he would follow Y/N out of the club later, Spencer was glad for the past minute, because he wasn't sure how much more of the performance he could take. Suddenly there was a job to focus on again, and he was thankful for that.
"You're sure you're okay?"
Y/N laughed as she approached her motel room, phone in hand. "Yeah, Irene, I'm okay. Promise. He got a hold on me but my team was there to stop him before he did anything. No nicks or bruises or anything."
"Okay... You were great out there by the way. If you weren't such a kick-ass FBI agent now, I'd ask you to come back."
Laughing, she turned her head and noticed Reid at the end of the hall, walking to his room. He caught her eye and gave a shy smile before disappearing behind the door and closing himself off from her. She contemplated a moment before starting her journey to his room. "Well, I'm glad we could help. Maybe if I find myself in town again, I'll stop by."
"Yeah, you better. Though I'd prefer if a serial killer wasn't involved."
"You and me both. I'll come see you before we leave tomorrow morning, yeah?"
"Yeah. Goodnight, Petite Etoile."
With an affectionate roll of her eyes, Y/N nodded though her friend wouldn't be able to see. "Night."
She hung up and put the phone in her bag, taking a deep breath before knocking on Reid's door.
The answer was almost immediate. He stood before her, and it looked like he'd just gotten undressed, wearing grey pajama bottoms and a white tee shirt. "Oh, Y/N, h-hi," he stammered, pushing his glasses up his nose a little. "What's up?"
"Do you... mind if I come in? I know it might sound a little weird but I don't really want to be alone right now..." It was true. Though she was okay after catching the unsub, the idea of being alone after everything that happened was sure to leave a small ache that wouldn't let her sleep, and having company would make a good cure.
"Oh, no, that isn't weird at all. Uh, sure, come on in." He stepped aside and opened the door wider to let her through. She smiled gratefully as she passed him, careful to notice the faint color that adorned his cheeks.
When he closed the door behind them, she set her bag down on the floor and turned to meet him, playing with the sleeve of the FBI jacket she was wearing. Before leaving Starsight, she'd changed into underwear, leggings, and a thin tee shirt. She debated taking the jacket off, but knowing how much of her body her colleague and friend had no doubt seen that night, she figured for his sake she'd leave it on. At least for now.
"I know it's late and we should probably get to bed, but... Truthfully I don't know how well I'll be able to sleep."
Spencer seemed concerned. "You're... you're okay? He didn't hurt you badly, did he?"
"Oh! No, he didn't, I'm just... rattled, that's all. I'll be okay, really. It's just that I haven't... performed in a long time, and all of that added on to being serial killer bait was just... eventful. That's all."
"Well, if it makes you feel better, you were great."
Y/N raised an eyebrow, a small smirk playing at her lips. "Oh?"
"Oh, I mean at handling the unsub. Not that you weren't great at the other thing, of course! I just... I just meant that... I didn't mean... Um..."
"Hey, it's okay, I'm... I'm not mad or anything, I'm... flattered."
The redness on Spencer's face became more vivid under the dim glow of the room. "I- Really?"
Y/N smiled and took a step closer. "Mhmm. Y'know... Truthfully it was really hard for me not to look at you the whole time. Out of everyone in that whole room, I wanted to see only you."
His gaze wandered up and down her body briefly before meeting her eyes. "You did?"
"Mhmm," she said again. Her hand reached out to graze his bare arm, and he shivered under her light touch. "You can stop me if this is too weird, but... I really like you, Spence... Like, a lot. And, I think it's pretty obvious that you like me, too. Am I wrong?"
He swallowed. "Um... No. You're not wrong."
She was only inches away from him now, her hands gently caressing his shoulders and chest. She looked up at him through her eyelashes and smiled. "Do you want to kiss me as badly as I want to kiss you right now?"
"Um... T-truthfully I think I might want... to kiss you more..."
Y/N laughed and balled his shirt in one hand, the other snaking up to the back of his head and running through his hair. "Okay, then... You gonna prove it, or what?"
He bit his lip softly before leaning down and capturing her lips in a kiss that made her dizzy. Her hands tightened their grip on him, and the second her lips parted, he wasted no time gently swiping his tongue across her bottom lip, his confidence growing with every second. She groaned into him, pulling her body flush against his and forcing him to wrap his arms around her waist to keep steady.
They pulled away for air eventually, and by the gleam in his eyes when she looked at him, she knew exactly what she had to do.
"No one is rooming with you, right?"
"N-no. It's just me."
"Good." She whispered it seductively as she removed her hands from him and slowly unzipped her jacket, keeping eye contact with Spencer the whole time. Except, of course, when his eyes glanced down to see the progress the zipper was making. Once she slid it off her shoulders and let it drop to the floor, he took her in, his tongue dancing behind his lips.
She let him have a few more seconds before taking a step forward and kissing him again, both of her hands cradling his face and bringing her thumbs to gently rub his cheeks. He melted into her completely, wrapping his arms around her again in no time. While their kisses were slow and passionate for a minute, eventually they grew hungrier, and Y/N hadn't even realized they'd been moving until they were toppling onto the bed, Spencer falling back and her landing on top of him.
They broke apart only for a moment to adjust themselves, but went right back to each other once Y/N straddled his legs and he leaned back on his hands to keep himself upright.
Her hands played in his hair as she kissed him, each brush of her tongue against his sending him into a downward spiral. He'd only ever dreamed of this, and even then, this was better than any dream. Y/N herself was better than any dream.
She ground her hips against him, causing him to groan into her mouth, and he pushed himself forward to be closer, needing to be completely wrapped up in her for as long as he could. When she pulled her mouth from his and settled her hands on his shoulders to keep him from moving, he whined a little, the sound completely taking the both of them aback.
She smiled and cocked her head to the side. "I've thought about this for so long... You have no idea how many times I've wanted to kiss you since we met."
"Really?"
With a nod, Y/N toyed with the collar of his shirt, tugging it and slowly grinding her hips against him again. "Have you ever thought about it?"
It was a question they both obviously knew the answer to, but she wanted to have some fun. She loved seeing how shy he got, it made her want him even more.
"Yes... I... I think about you a lot," he breathed, blinking at her as she slid her hands down his chest and found the bottom of his shirt. She smiled and raised it up, her touch sending shivers all over his body.
"What have you thought about? Any specifics?" she asked once his shirt was all the way off. Her fingers found their way to his neck again as she pulled herself closer.
"Oh, I... Um... I-I've thought about... kissing you on the jet in front of everyone."
Y/N smiled and pushed his glasses up his nose, then traced her finger down over his lips and hooked it under his chin to tilt his head up, exposing his neck. "I've thought about that, too... You know what else?"
Spencer blinked at her, urging her to continue.
She leaned forward and kissed the underside of his jaw, then his neck, leaving small kisses in between every soft word. "I've thought about how good your hands would feel on me." Her hand grabbed one of his and brought it to rest on her side, slipping under her shirt. "Have you ever thought about touching me?"
"Yes," he breathed as she moved her mouth back up his jaw and to the corner of his mouth.
She brought her lips just inches from his, and he could feel them just barely as she spoke. "Do it. Please."
And then she let go of him, bringing both her hands to his face as she kissed him again. Her legs wrapped around him tighter as he used both of his hands to grip her sides. As soon as they knew they were stable enough not to fall backwards, Spencer slid his hands slowly up her torso and barely ghosted over her breasts. She could tell he was a little hesitant, so she pushed further into him, practically trapping his hands in between their chests. Her kisses grew deeper and more desperate as he palmed her breasts, letting a moan or two slip out to encourage him further.
Thankfully it worked, because with every passing second he got more confident with his touches. When Y/N moved her hips against his again, he sighed into her mouth and brought one of his hands out from under her shirt and to her head, running his fingers through her hair.
At this point he was noticeably hard beneath her, and she was desperate to feel more of him. So Y/N peeled herself away from Spencer and snuck her hand down to play with the waistband of his pants. "You wouldn't happen to have a condom on you, would you?"
"Oh, uh, a-actually Morgan gave me one as a joke last week. It's, uh, in my wallet. In my bag."
Y/N laughed. "Sounds like him. Why don't you go grab it."
He nodded as she got up off of him. While he walked over to his bag, Y/N quickly removed her shirt and leggings, leaving her only in a pair of thin black panties that were almost too small. Before he turned around, she sat back on the edge of the bed and spread her legs wide, leaning back on her elbows as she waited.
If she didn't know any better she would have thought that when he turned around, his eyes were going to fall out of his head. He took small steps towards the bed, and she made the 'come here' motion with her finger. "Take your pants off for me?"
He all but scrambled to get them off, and Y/N smiled affectionately at him as she watched, hoping to calm his nerves by letting him know that he had nothing to be nervous about.
But just to be sure, she told him as much anyway. "You've got nothing to worry about, Spence. Trust me, I... I want this."
Once his pants were off, he met her at the edge of the bed, standing in between her legs. "I do too, I just... It's just that I've only ever... done this before once, and... I'm not very experienced, and I don't want to disappoint you."
Y/N sat up and grabbed his hips, leaning forward to press small, soft kisses to his stomach as she looked up at him. "You could never disappoint me. Promise."
Once she was sure he was a little more relaxed, she moved her kisses lower, until they reached the waistband of his underwear. She hooked her fingers under it and slid them down slowly, keeping eye contact with him until they dropped to the floor. Only then did she look down at his dick, and it was even better than she imagined.
Giving a satisfied hum, she pressed a soft kiss to the tip and fluttered her eyes up to meet his, the look on his face completely awe-struck. She took the tip of his dick in between her lips and sucked gently, swirling her tongue around it as she watched his mouth fall open, a sigh escaping. She could tell he was holding back a little, so she traced her finger along the length of him and kept sucking lightly at the tip, hoping to get some noise out of him.
Y/N took him in her mouth completely, bobbing her head up and down just a few times to get him wet before removing her lips with a pop. When she gripped him firmly with one hand and steadily began to stroke him, he finally gave her what she hoped for.
"Y/N," he groaned, just above a whisper. His eyes were closed, but he opened them when she stopped.
"You wanna put it on or should I?" she asked.
"Spencer turned the small packet over in his hand before nodding. "I can do it."
Y/N scooted farther onto the bed and slid off her panties as he got to work, and thankfully he wasn't as nervous anymore. He moved to take off his glasses, but she stopped him. "Keep them on?"
The devious grin on her face made him blush, and he nodded, crawling over the top of her and pressing tentative kisses to her stomach, only he travelled downward instead of up to her mouth.
"You don't have t—"
"I want to," he reassured, kissing her inner thighs. "Truth be told, Y/N, I've thought about doing this, too. Is that okay?"
"Yes," she responded clearly, extremely turned on by the needy tone in his voice.
Almost immediately after she answered, his tongue darted out to taste her, swiping gently over her clit and sending her into a state of speechlessness. She leaned up on her elbows to watch as Spencer took his time, exploring and savoring every inch of her. She knew now why he'd wanted to take his glasses off, but if anything the sight of them riding up his face as he ate her out made the whole thing even hotter.
"Fuck, Spence, that... that feels so fucking good," she breathed, trying to keep her eyes open to look at him but ultimately failing.
Her words emboldened him, and he slipped a finger slowly inside her, his tongue paying special attention to her clit. He worked them together in a slow, sensual rhythm that eventually drove her to the edge. And she told him so.
"You're gonna make me cum," she breathed, willing herself to open her eyes. She found him staring up at her as best as he could in his position, the hungry sparkle in his eye pushing her further. What finally pushed her over the edge was when he sucked gently on her clit and groaned against her as she called out his name. Everything blinded her for a moment as she rocked her hips against his face, needing to hang on to every last second of her orgasm.
When she finally came down, Spencer pulled away and adjusted his glasses, to which Y/N bit her lip and moaned once more. "You're sure you've only ever done this once?"
He laughed a little, sucking his fingers clean with a shrug before answering. "Yeah, but I'm a quick-study."
Y/N smiled and reached one of her arms out to him. "Come here, quick-study."
The two of them smiled as their lips found one another, her hands flying to his hair once again. His hands gripped her waist, and his dick pressed up against her lower stomach, making her groan against him.
Without another word, Y/N hooked her legs around his waist and shifted their weight, rolling them over so she was straddling him now. Spencer reached up to move her hair to one side of her face, and then soon after she sat up, placing her hands on his chest.
"I'll tell you something else I've thought about," she said lowly, scratching down his chest just lightly enough to give him goosebumps. She then used one of her hands to grip his dick and lifted her hips up, running the head of him through her wetness as she looked down at him. "I've thought about how good you would look while I ride you. More than once, actually."
She sank down onto him, just a little, and his face sure enough twitched in pleasure, making Y/N smile to herself. "What about you? You ever imagine me riding this pretty cock?"
"Fuck, Y/N, yes, I— Oh my god..."
She sat down completely, rocking her hips forward a little and pressing her hands harder into his chest. "Fuck, you feel so good..."
She set a slow pace, making sure to pay extra attention to Spencer's face as she worked him. Just like she'd done before, he seemed to have a hard time keeping his eyes open, but his hands gripped her hips so tightly she was sure they'd leave bruises. The thought of that spurred her on, and she picked up the pace, bouncing steadily on his cock.
"Ohhh, fuck," she groaned, her hands leaving his torso to grab her breasts. He opened his eyes and watched her, letting out a soft moan of his own. His hands slid up her sides and under hers, replacing them with his own firm grip. She leaned forward a little so he wouldn't have to reach up that far, placing both of her hands on either side of his waist.
"Tell me," she managed to say as she continued riding him. "You ever think about fucking me at work? In the round-table room or over my desk? I know I have..."
He continued to pinch and pull at her nipples while barely being able to keep his eyes open. "Y-yes... Fuck, Y/N, I think about you all the time..."
"Feeling's mutual. Sit up for me?"
Spencer opened his eyes and she helped him sit up. They adjusted for a second before she wrapped her arms around his neck and started moving again, rocking her hips into his and giving him a better angle to hit inside her deeper.
"Fuck, baby, you feel so good," she breathed against his lips before she kissed him, missing the feel of his lips on hers. Their bodies clung together perfectly, every movement feeling better than the last, until they were both obviously close to coming undone.
Sure enough, the moment she squeezed her legs together and clenched herself around him, he groaned into her mouth and bucked his hips forward. "Y/N... I..."
She pressed her forehead to his and tugged at his hair, quickening her pace just a little and feeling herself geting close as well. Any moment now and she would feel it.
"Me, too," she breathed, brushing her nose against his. Within a matter of seconds, they were both unraveling, sighing out each others' names and holding on to each other for dear life as they rode out their highs.
Eventually Y/N slowed her hips to a stop, and she slumped against him, pressing one final kiss to his lips before she got off his lap and pulled him down to lay beside her, immediately snuggling into his side and burying her face in the crook of his neck.
"So, was that better than you imagined?" she murmured against his neck, pressing kisses along collarbone.
Spencer laughed and pulled her even closer. "Even better. No dream could ever do you justice."
She smiled, feeling herself growing sleepy. "You sap... But, for the record, I could say the same thing about you."
"Really?" He seemed genuinely curious.
Y/N looked up at him and smiled, tracing patterns on his chest with her fingertips. "Really. I wasn't kidding, Spence, I think about you... probably more often than I should. You're distracting."
"I'm distracting?" he mused. "You're... you. Seriously, it's a surprise I haven't completely made a fool of myself around you since we met. Especially after we all found out about your other job."
"Right... That doesn't... weird you out, does it?"
"That you used to be a stripper?"
She nodded, truthfully a little worried. She wasn't sure why, but it had always been a problem in her previous relationships, and she'd gotten used to that.
"No, of course that doesn't weird me out. I mean, I was definitely more intimidated around you, and I figured you were completely out of my league... Truthfully, I think you still might be."
"Oh, don't sell yourself short, Doctor. You're perfect, and really, if anyone was out of anyone's league here, it would be me. I'd be lucky to have you in any capacity, you know that, right?"
He blushed, bringing his forehead to rest against hers again. "Well... In any case, I really do like you, and... If it's not too weird, maybe you'd want to go out sometime?"
Warmth bloomed in her chest as she reached out and grabbed his hand, lacing their fingers together. "Of course. I would love to."
***
"Make it stop," Y/N whined, covering her ears with the pillow.
Spencer stirred beside her, barely awake himself. The knocking at the door wasn't stopping, and in a huff of annoyance, Y/N decided she'd had enough.
"We're getting up!"
She only realized what she did after the door opened and Elle walked in, a shit-eating grin on her face. "Oh my God, you were in here last night! I came by your room and tried calling..."
Y/N and Spencer both froze, completely awake and now well aware of the fact that someone else knew about their... sleeping arrangement.
"Uh, yeah... Yeah, I was here. Sorry if I worried you," Y/N stammered, trying to keep her cool. "I-I promised Irene I'd stop by this morning for breakfast before we left, so I should probably do that. Do, um... Do you mind?"
Elle laughed, giving the two of her friends a once-over before nodding. "Sure thing, Little Star. Oh, and uh... Good for you, Reid, proud of you."
"Elle," Y/N groaned, clutching the covers tighter around her bare torso.
"Right. Don't be too late."
After she left, Y/N leaned over to Spencer and rubbed his arm. "I'm sorry. I probably should have—"
He stopped her by pressing his lips to hers in a soft kiss. When he pulled away, his hand brushed the hair from her face and he smiled. "It's fine. I don't care who knows. I mean, as long as you don't, Petite Etoile..."
He said it with a grin reminiscent of the one Elle had just adorned, and it made Y/N laugh. She kissed him again and ruffled his hair. "I'm gonna get you for that."
"What? It suits you."
"You are not calling me by my stripper name. It's bad enough Elle and Morgan are probably gonna call me that for the rest of my life, I don't need it from you, too." She smiled as she said it, hoping that he knew she was only joking.
Either way, Spencer looked at her adoringly and took her hand in his. "Well, then... how about I just call you mine?"
"I like the sound of that."
tw infertility discussion
Gwyn: isn’t he beautiful <3
In the freezing February air outside the tea house, Nesta clicks on the picture attached to Gwyn’s text. It’s a distant shot of a man in his mid-thirties hunched over a library desk while working, unaware that there’s a camera on him. She’ll give it to Gwyn, though—he is a little handsome.
Emerie: the stalker levels are through the roof, gwyneth. seek help.
Gwyn: no i’m gonna marry him
Nesta doesn’t know whether to laugh or be concerned, but she types out a brief response before her thumbs fall off from the cold: Will give my opinion on him later. Got to go.
Gwyn’s crush will have to wait, Nesta thinks as she finally puts her phone away and pushes her way inside the exquisite tea house. Immediately, blasting heat thaws her frozen fingers and toes, and farther inside she spots the table she reserved for three. Right now, only one person sits at it.
Nesta grits her teeth and approaches the round table, heels clicking softly on the parquet floors. Elain doesn’t look up from the menu she’s reading. “This place would be nicer to visit in the spring,” is her only acknowledgment of Nesta.
“I like the winter,” Nesta answers simply, taking her seat across from Elain. She likes how the ice creeps over the garden outside until everything looks frozen in time, and she likes how the colorful flowers and trees become dulled by white snow. Not that her sister would understand or care.
“Of course you do,” Elain mutters, setting down the menu with all the careful elegance of a debutante. “I’m only here for Feyre, anyway.”
It almost saddens Nesta that she doesn’t feel hurt or offense at the words. She thought she would care more about Elain’s opinion than she actually does. “Where is Feyre, then?” she says, looking pointedly at the empty seat between them. “I thought she was coming with you.”
“I’m right here,” a breathless voice says, accompanied by the sound of hurried footsteps. Feyre appears, looking flushed from exertion and the cold. She sets her bag down and joins them at the table, scooting her seat all the way in. “Sorry I’m late. What did I miss?”
“Nothing,” Nesta bites. “I was just about to order.”
“So was I.” Elain smiles breezily.
Feyre glances between the two of them, clear concern on her face, but she covers it up and says, “I’m so glad we’re doing this.”
It was Feyre’s idea, of course. After Nesta told her off for never being interested in what she wanted to do, Feyre actually listened. She asked if Nesta wanted to hang out, and then let Nesta fill in the rest of the details on her own terms.
Which brings them to the tea house. Unfortunately for her sisters, however, Nesta doesn’t really know where to go from ordering tea and biscuits.
“How is school going?” Feyre asks her after their drinks arrive.
Nesta sips from her tea, already bored. “It’s been fifteen minutes and you have yet to say anything of substance, Feyre. It makes me miss being alone with Elain and her mood.”
Feyre looks taken aback, and Elain levels a glare at Nesta. An unsurprised, of course you have to ruin everything like this glare.
So Nesta clarifies, “That wasn’t an attack. I just hoped that after driving out here, I would get something better than shallow small talk.”
“And how do you know it was shallow?” Elain steps in harshly. “How do you know she isn’t actually interested in how you’re doing at school?”
Nesta slides blunt blue eyes to Feyre. “If that’s the case, then I commend you. Personally, I wouldn’t give a shit if I was in your position.”
To her surprise, Feyre snorts. She looks resigned when she says, “No, you’re right. I don’t care about what’s going on at school, not if you don’t. What would you rather we talk about then, Nesta?”
Without hesitation, Nesta says, “Ask me something you really care to hear the answer to.”
Elain shuts her mouth and sits back at that. Feyre twists her lips, thinking her next words over carefully. “How is your therapy going?” she finally asks in a cautious tone. “What do you talk about there?”
Remembering that she’s in a formal setting, Nesta stops herself from crossing her arms. She settles on wrapping her fingers delicately around her teacup instead. “We talk about whatever I feel like talking about,” she answers honestly. Although lately her conversations with Lana feel more restrained than usual.
“And what’s that?” Feyre urges.
Nesta shrugs, fitting apathy onto her face like an old mask. “Recently? Childbearing.” But it isn’t her favorite topic of discussion, not at all.
“You’re pregnant?” Elain jumps in, leading Nesta to throw her an unamused look.
“No, idiot,” she says. “My therapist just has the idea that if I end up being infertile it’ll screw me up, mentally and emotionally and whatever. She thinks I should deal with that baggage now instead of saving it for later.” She rolls her eyes thinking about it. How many times does she have to repeat that she doesn’t care about her body’s reproductive abilities until Lana gets it?
Feyre chuckles, confused. “Why would you be infertile?”
Nesta forgot—she didn’t want her sisters knowing anything that has to do with her health. She even made Cassian keep her doctor visits secret from Feyre. But that was months ago, and the sisters are… not exactly in a better place now, but looking for the way there. Nesta thinks she can tell them without any severe regrets. “I have endometriosis.”
When she’s met with silence, she adds, “You know, with the tissue growing on my ovaries and stuff. It might affect all the babies I don’t care to have in the future.”
Elain is the first to speak. “You always wanted to be a mother.” Her voice is soft, almost mourning. It irritates the hell out of Nesta.
“No, I didn’t,” she snaps back.
“You did,” Elain insists. Feyre still hasn’t said anything. “You took care of our cat, Mittens, until the day she died. You taught Feyre her alphabet. You raised me when Mama and Papa were too busy to do it. You never carried dolls around in strollers or anything, but you loved being a mother.”
“I don’t remember any of this,” Feyre says, blinking. “I’m sorry, can we go back to the endometriosis part?”
Nesta sips from her tea, the bitter taste a welcome distraction from Elain’s words. “What about it?”
“How long have you known?” Feyre demands.
“It isn’t cancer. And I’m getting treated, obviously. I’m fine.”
“That doesn’t answer my question.”
Nesta sighs, setting her cup down. “October. Cassian made me go to the doctor because he was worried about my periods, we had a big fight about health insurance, and now I use my salary from your boyfriend to afford medication so I don’t feel like dying every month. Is that everything you wanted to hear?”
Feyre only stares at her, for once revealing no emotion. “I keep forgetting,” she says finally, “that we’re not at a place to share things like that with each other. I keep being surprised every time I realize how much of your life you keep from us.”
“I don’t,” Elain huffs under her breath while she tears a croissant in half.
Nesta is still watching Feyre. “You remember how bad my cycles were? I would cry loud enough at night to wake the house.”
Feyre flinches at the memory, and Elain goes still.
“But no one ever woke up,” Nesta says. They never talked about it before, and she has no desire to keep speaking about it now. If they start to tally all the hurts they’ve dealt to each other, Nesta fears they’ll be here for hours. Worse, she fears she will lose.
She reaches for a lavender macaron and delicately pulls it apart, studying the cream filling inside. “Did you know they make these using the lavender flowers from the garden outside?”
“I hate lavender,” Elain says.
Spying her chance to shift the subject off herself, Nesta goes for it. “Because Azriel smells like lavender?” She pushes one half of the dainty cookie past her lips, chewing. “It’s an interesting cologne choice, I agree.”
“Wait, what are we talking about now?” Feyre looks around, unaware that they’ve moved onto another topic.
Elain’s innocent brown eyes turn into daggers pointed at Nesta, betrayal written across her face. Nesta feels no pity for her—especially not if they’re going to sit around judging each other for keeping secrets.
Feyre’s eyes widen and she turns to Elain. “Is it about your,” she lowers her voice and whispers, “crush?”
Nesta raises a skeptical brow. She doubts whatever Az and Elain have stops at just a crush.
“No, it’s not,” Elain answers determinedly. “God, do you have to bring men into everything, Nesta?”
“I think you’re projecting.”
“Quit it,” Feyre snaps at the both of them. “Or I’ll grab my things and leave.”
Do it, Nesta almost dares. But she has a feeling that Feyre means it, that she won’t submit to being taunted, so Nesta reins the words back from the tip of her tongue. After all, this tea is expensive.
The sisters take a moment to settle, and Feyre is the one to restart the conversation. “Either way,” she tells Nesta, “it looks like counseling is going really well for you. I’m glad.”
“Yeah, it really gives your skin a certain glow,” Elain drawls.
Nesta doesn’t rise to meet her sarcasm. In all seriousness, Elain and Feyre could probably use a therapist themselves. It might make Nesta’s interactions with them less headache-inducing.
“You should visit one day,” she throws the suggestion out without thinking.
“What, like a therapy session?” Feyre says.
Realizing the implications of her terrible idea, Nesta forces herself not to backpedal. “Yes,” she makes herself grit out. “If you’re interested, that is.”
Elain and Feyre share a glance of hesitation and concern. It’s a glance that grates on Nesta’s nerves, but she keeps her mouth shut and waits for a response.
Feyre answers first: “We’ll do it.”
Elain looks more doubtful, but seems to realize that refusing to go would paint her in a negative light. We can’t have that, can we? Nesta thinks wryly. She reaches for some macarons and starts stuffing them into her purse. “Sounds good. Great.” It is not at all great. Having her sisters in the same room as her and Lana might just be terrible enough to ruin Nesta’s next month or two.
“I’ll text you the details whenever I feel like it,” she tells Feyre and Elain as she rises out of her seat. Likely not for as long as possible.
“Where are you going?” Elain demands.
“I’m leaving.” Nesta pointedly drapes her coat over her shoulders, picking up her purse. “I have plans for the rest of the day, sorry.” Plans to get home and rate Gwyn’s work crush on a scale of one to ten. Maybe she’ll rewatch a sitcom if she has time.
“But it’s only been an hour,” Feyre protests.
Did Feyre think they would be spending the whole day together? Nesta wants to shudder at the mere idea of it, but she somehow… feels bad for her sister. “Maybe another time,” she promises vaguely. To provide some sort of reassurance, she adds, “I had fun today. Thanks for pulling this together.” The words are hollow, fake, and she’s probably a hypocrite for not being able to return the same sincerity she demanded from Feyre. But honesty isn’t going to get Nesta very far today, so this false politeness is the best she can manage.
Elain looks somewhat relieved, and Feyre looks disappointed but unsurprised. “Alright.” The girls nod at her. “Get home safe.”
She turns and leaves as soon as she’s given the green light.
A stale scent greets Nesta when she enters her apartment, reminding her that she hasn’t been around in days. In her defense, the winter months are easier to bear in Cassian’s heated cabin than in a poorly insulated basement.
Flicking the lights on, Nesta books it to the thermostat, her teeth nearly chattering out of her body. After turning the heat as high as it can go, she climbs beneath the covers of her bed without bothering to take her coat off. She doesn’t take out her phone to text the groupchat like she promised she would. She doesn’t even get her laptop to turn Netflix on. Rather, her focus is caught on the framed picture of her and Cassian sitting atop the dresser.
Everything was okay as she stepped out of the tea house. It wasn’t until she was inside her car that it came upon her: the whirlwind of emotions that had stayed so carefully hidden while she chatted with her sisters. All throughout the drive home, her mind kept returning to that one topic. Children.
Elain said that Nesta used to genuinely enjoy playing substitute mother when they were children, and she was right. But that was all fun and games, like playing teacher. What Elain left out was what happened after their actual mother died and their father went into debt, leaving all three girls in need of a parent figure. Nesta wasn’t a mother then—or at least, not a good one.
Now, she stares at the picture full of smiley cheeks and windblown hair, remembering the night that she realized she wanted to hold Cassian’s hand in hers.
She can’t imagine Cassian not wanting kids. They’ve never discussed it, but it’s so obvious to anyone who’s ever met him: he has too much love to give away to not one day end up with a whole brood of children. The thought makes Nesta’s stomach churn.
***
“Thanks again, guys.” Cassian shakes hands with his team as they file out of the conference room, all of them dressed professionally while he lingers in his hoodie. As soon as the last worker is out the door, he pulls out his phone, ready to shoot Nesta a message. She met up with her sisters alone today for the first time in a year, and he can’t wait any longer to find out if their brunch ended in a fight or not.
He clicks on his phone to find two texts from his brother, sent not too long ago.
Rhys: You’re in the office today for the monthly check-in, right?
Rhys: Don’t leave after the meeting is over. I’ll be there in an hour to introduce you to the new guy heading the Milan project.
Cassian frowns, confused. Rhys and the new guy are coming all the way up here to meet him? He didn’t know he was that important to the project.
While he waits for his unexpected guests, Cassian texts Nesta twice, and only receives a single short response saying she got home safe. Resolving to call and have a real conversation with her later, he gets up to change into the spare buttondown and pressed slacks he keeps in a locker in his office. If Rhys wants him to play the part of company boss, then he might as well look the part.
He’s adjusting the cuffs of his dark-colored shirt when the door to his office opens without warning, and Rhysand strides in followed by a stiff-looking young man.
Cassian eyes the stranger up and down first, trying to get a read on him the way he’s seen Nesta and Rhys read others. He doesn’t come up with a single thing, as usual, but he hopes he achieved his goal of looking intimidating.
“Cass,” Rhys greets him with a subdued nod, in full CEO mode. “This is our new hire, Keith O’Connell. I snagged him from right under Vanserra & Co.’s noses.” His near-violet eyes gleam with pride. “He’s going to be working out of Milan for us starting this summer.”
“Sounds good to me.” Cassian smiles lazily, and this is something he doesn’t need to fake—confidence. He reaches out to shake Keith’s hand. “Hi. I’m Cassian Madani.”
“Good to meet you.” The other man shakes back, but his grip is too tight, like he’s trying to break Cassian’s hand. Try-hard, a voice that sounds like Nesta tells him. Uses arrogance to cover up his insecurity.
Cassian takes it all into account as he pulls his hand away, seeing Keith through clearer eyes. His dark brown hair is slicked back with copious amounts of hair product, and a shrewd black gaze takes in every detail of the office. He stands like he’s attempting to seem taller than he actually is.
A typical white-collar worker looking for a way up the corporate ladder, Cassian concludes. Nothing he hasn’t seen before, but there must be a reason Rhys is so excited about him.
“Keith is starting here at your branch next week,” Rhys is saying when Cassian refocuses.
He blinks, unsure if he heard correctly. “What, all the way out here?” Away from Velaris in this modest mountain town?
“We agreed it was best if you two work together as closely as possible while preparing for the summer launch. Since you can’t come to Velaris, that means Keith comes here.”
Cassian looks at Rhys in astonishment. He thought that once he rejected the Milan position, he’d cleaned his hands of the job for good. Clearly he was wrong. “Just how involved am I going to be on this project?”
Rhys grins back at him. “You’ll lead from home base, of course.”
Cassian glares. Rhys responds with a look that says they’ll talk about this later.
Keith seems to find the idea of working alongside another person as distasteful as Cassian finds it unexpected, but he says anyway, “I can’t wait to start working together. I have a lot of ideas for the Italian outpost that I think you’ll appreciate.”
“I’m sure I will,” Cassian hums. “When do you start again?”
“Next Monday.”
“Then we should talk then.” Cassian gestures out the door. Keith looks taken aback, likely having expected more out of this meeting. But Cassian can’t meet with this guy until he gets a hold of what the fuck is going on. After shepherding Keith out of the office and shutting the door after him, he turns to Rhys with a raised brow.
“Don’t look at me like that,” Rhys warns. “Your role in this project is serious.”
“This project isn’t even part of my job description. What am I supposed to know about international business conductions?”
“You know enough to keep an eye on that O’Connell kid for me.” Rhys leans against Cassian’s desk as if it’s his own and crosses his feet. “He’s an asset to the company, but he also worked for our competitors up to a couple of months ago. I can’t trust him to manage this thing on his own, and I don’t have the time or resources right now to watch over him myself. That’s why the duty falls to you.”
“I manage security,” Cassian states, in case it wasn’t obvious. “What about Az?”
“Az has his own things to handle.” Rhys waves him off. “Just do what I tell you to, will you? Pay attention to O’Connell for the duration of the Italy venture and make sure he doesn’t steer our ship off course. You’ll get paid triple for the extra hours.”
“I don’t need triple,” Cassian grumbles, but Rhys is no longer listening. He’s typing on his phone and already heading for the door.
“Feyre and I are having dinner here before heading back home,” he calls over his shoulder. “See you later; I believe in you!” The door shuts after him, leaving Cassian alone.
“Yeah, yeah,” he replies to the empty room.
Cassian leaves not long after Rhysand does, having no excuse to linger. Outside, he’s greeted with a surprise leaning against the hood of his truck.
Nesta pushes off the hood as soon as he catches notice of her. “Long day?” she asks.
He laughs for the first time all afternoon, the sound surprised and genuine. “I was just thinking about you.”
“That’s why I’m here. I heard your thoughts.” There’s a light in her pale eyes that only burns whenever she looks at him. It’s the same light that powers her ability to make jokes and let her guard down around him in a way she can’t with most others, and Cassian is especially grateful for it today.
Nesta reaches out and takes his hand into hers. He watches the way their palms fit together in endless fascination, his brown fingers a stark contrast against her white ones. He squeezes once and looks back up at her. “How did meeting your sisters go? You never told me.”
The light flickers so briefly Cassian wonders if it’s a trick of his eyes. But then Nesta is there again, at full brightness. She squeezes his hand back. “Take me home. I’ll tell you all about it.”
5 alarms that woke Chad up and 1 that didn't
Pretty self explanatory, noh?
(also, Chad has three siblings, two siblings that are two years older than him (twins, Fynn and Esi) and a sister younger than him by one year only (Adia), and he has two mothers Brianna Johnsons and Aimee Danforth (Fynn, Esi and Adia are Brianna's children) wow this is a long explanation I'm so sorry, please enjoy this thing)
One; cookies and lavenders
Sophomore year was something that he was supposed to enjoy, or at least, that's what his older siblings had told him.
Chad groaned as he sat by the window and waited for someone to sit beside him. Troy was somewhere near his dad, it was Mrs. Bolton's request that her baby boy not be separated from his father while travelling, so Chad was left to his own device, sitting by himself in the bus, looking outside the window as if he's in a movie
The others were already paired off when Troy told him his mother's request, making Chad unable to ask anyone else to sit with him
"you okay there, man?" he looks up to see Zeke standing from behind him. He was paired with Jason, who was already catching his sleep. It was way too early in the morning to even be awake but he did not complain as he knew how long the trip would be
"yeah, man. Just a little bummed, I guess?" Zeke hummed, disappearing into his seat for a moment and popped up once more with a Tupperware in hand "here, help yourself with these. I-Mom made it last night for me" Chad stared at it and took the container from his teammate's hand, thanking him before settling down as the bus started to move
He was too focused eating the cookies that he didn't notice someone sitting beside him until someone elbowed him due to the fact that the person beside him was almost tangled up with his bag
"oh, sorry" Chad looks up to see Ryan Evans, adjusting his lavender newsboy cap
"ish okay" he replies, mouth filled with cookies, Ryan was almost out of the bag's grip on him but he made one mistake and all of a sudden, it seemed like he was back to square one, making him click his tongue in annoyance. Chad settled the cookies in his lap and helped the boy out of his misery
"thanks" once the bag was now on the floor, Ryan thanked him and Chad just quietly hummed as he stared at Ryan and his lavender cap and lavender pants. He looked at the container in his hands before offering some to Ryan, who smiled and took one. He thanked Chad once more before Chad decided he had enough of the cookies and rest his head on the window to catch some sleep
He woke up when something was ringing and vibrating underneath his butt, groggily looking for whatever that was, he finds a phone that was definitely not his, he turns off the alarm and looks at Ryan who was asleep, with his arms crossed and head facing up the ceiling as his newsboy cap covered his face
Chad also noticed that he was shivering slightly and took off his jacket to put it on the boy, adjusting it a couple of times so that it won't fall off, he had to tuck in some of thr fabric and smiled to himself once he was satisfied with it
looking at the phone that was in his hand, he wasn't sure where he'll put it so he puts it inside the pocket of his jacket, hoping that Ryan will notice the phone once he wakes up
Two; illegal
Chad was waiting for Taylor to finish her daily 'light' reading in the library, he didn't really have anything else to do since Troy was off canoodling with his girlfriend
he made an impatient noise once more, making Taylor put her book down "if you don't want to read then just sleep" he looks at her for some time before deciding that she was right. He can just take a nap, so he made himself comfortable and crossed his arms, tilting his head down and closing his eyes. Tuning out the quiet chatter of some students who were discussing the theory of general relativity
He was startled awake as he hears a loud ring from somewhere inside the library, Taylor was almost finished with her reading when she too, was startled by the loud ring
"what the heck" she mumbles under her breath as she looks at the source of the noise, only to see Ryan scrambling to look for his phone to turn off the alarm
He was hatless and one side of his face was red, there were outlines on that side making chad presume that the boy had fallen asleep with his head on the table
The way Ryan rubbed the sleep away from his eyes and look for his fedora that fell on the floor when he was woken up by the alarm was doing things to Chad, and he didn't mind being suddenly woken up if the view was like that
"keep staring and he might melt" Taylor smirked at Chad as she closed her book, he huffs out in annoyance "let him melt then, it's illegal to look that good when you've just woken up" Taylor lets out a breathy laugh and stand up "come on, lover boy. Gabriella just texted me, saying that Troy's looking for you"
They both make their way out of the library, completely unaware of the eyes that trailed after Chad's back
Three; dreams don't count, but if it feels real...
The face Ryan had after he saw the enormous amount of collection of DVDs in their living room was amusing and cute, he had invited the boy over to watch some recorded musicals and Ryan said he'll bring some over, not expecting to see tons of playbills and DVDs. Chad explained to him that his mothers, Aimee and Brianna were quite the theater nerds themselves
The musical that they were watching was long finished and Chad had said something about Troy that just made the blonde burst out laughing, holding his stomach with his hands as he bent over. Chad laughed along with him, but he did not let this opportunity to look at Ryan go to waste. He just stared at Ryan, laughing with him, in hopes to not get caught. The way that the sun shine on him through the window made him look like an angel
After Ryan had calmed down, Chad only noticed how close they were together. He looked at the bright cerulean eyes that seemed to shimmer as the setting sun disappeared into the horizon through the open window
Chad doesn't know who leaned in first but the next thing he knew was that Ryan's lips were on his-
RING RING RING
Chad groaned and opened his eyes. He was just having a good dream when his alarm blared out through his room
"fucking-" he sat up and annoyingly stopped the alarm on his phone. As he sat on his bed in the quiet room, he thought back to his dream and smiled as he remembers the last part before he was rudely woken up by his alarm
"Chad!" snapping out of his trance, he hears Brianna call for him for breakfast
"coming, ma!" he shouted, finally getting up and fixing his bed quickly before making his way downstairs where he hears his mothers and sistsr, singing along with a song that he knows Ryan had sung once under his breath
sitting down on the table, ignoring his family's singing, he had a smile on his lips while his thoughts were filled of Ryan's face and laugh. Ever since the baseball game, Ryan would invade Chad's head at any point in time and it would sometimes get annoying because he can't focus but honestly, it was better than anything else
"mooom, Chad is smiling creepily at the table" Chad snapped out of his trance and kicked his younger sister under the table
"mom, ma, Adia is being offensive" Adia lets out a dramatic gasp and sets her spoon down with a slight thump "what?! I'm not offensive!"
"your face is offensive!"
"alright children, settle down" Aimee said with a snort and put down the food on the table, then they discussed that next week both mothers will have to travel to Chicago to visit their older siblings
Four; let the nightmare pass
Chad asked Mrs. Darbus for a quick break time as he was tired, he was surprised that she allowed an hour of break time. He had not slept very well yesterday night as his mothers got into a car crash. They were lucky that Brianna did not have any major injury but Aimee was the unfortunate between the two mothers as she has a broken arm and a couple broken ribs
the jock lays down in between the seats at the back, not even caring if someone sees him there, he just wanted to sleep somewhere quiet and far away from people. He set a quick alarm on his phone and laid there quietly
with his eyes closed, he thought how were his mothers doing? Were his mom doing okay? Did they eat? And if so, did they eat enough? Was Adia doing okay? He was sure that she was just as sleepy as he was feeling right now but how was she feeling? Was she scared? Of course she's scared, it's their mothers
and before Chad could even worry more, his mind and body has shut down
Ryan was tasked to search for Chad as they were going to start their rehearsal again, he searched every part of the theater for him, only to see the jock laying down at the very back, in between the seats and it was pretty obvious that he was having a nightmare, with the way he was twitching, the way his face would scrunch up and the occasional whimpers that he'd let out
Chad looked very vulnerable to Ryan at that time, he heard from his mother that they shouldn't wake up a person who's having nightmares, you have to let it pass. So he gently raises Chad's head and puts him on his lap, softly pushing his curls away from his forehead and with his other hand, he held Chad's, hoping that the nightmare will go away with the soothing actions that he was doing, not even noticing that he himself was falling asleep
They were both woken up with the alarm that Chad had set, Chad felt something quickly raise his head, a small thud and a sharp intake of breath
He opened his eyes to see Ryan's eyes tightly shut, holding the back of his head with one hand, he had his lips pursed. Quickly turning off the alarm, he then focused on Ryan
"what happened?" Chad rasped out, slowly sitting up and noticed that they were holding hands. He gently squeezed it to get Ryan's attention "I was so startled by the alarm that I hit the back of my head on the chair" Chad snorted and used his free hand to gently caress the back of his head as if it will relieve the pain
Ryan subconsciously leans into Chad's hand and softly smiled at his attempt, he feels Chad's hand carefully move from the back of his head to his cheek and he finally opened his eyes to scan the jock's face "you still look tired" Chad slightly opened his mouth to say that he was fine but closed it when he realized he didn't have to hide anything from Ryan
He smiled and put his forehead on Ryan's, closing his eyes "I am. Stay here for a little while, so I can recharge and everything will be okay again" he hears the blonde hum and lay his hand on top of Chad's, sitting there in the comfortable silence between them.
Five; apologies for the intrusion
Chad slowly opens his eyes as he reached out to his phone that was ringing, he looks at the time and sees that it was nearing the time to attend the last graduation party. They've already graduated and Troy was hosting one last party for their batch before they all go their own ways
Before Chad could even think of sleeping more, a message from Troy came in then suddenly his phone rang with Ryan's name
he dismissed the text message and quickly answered the call "what's up?"
"I had a feeling that you're going to sleep more so I've taken the liberty to come to your house right now and give you a ride to the Bolton's"
"what?" Chad sat up and made his way to his door but then he hears Ryan knock the same time someone knocked on their door
"Coming!" he hears his ma, Brianna, shout and walk to the front door
"wait, ma!-" too late, Brianna had already opened the door, looking at Ryan who was smiling brightly at her, phone still up to his ear
"oh!" Ryan's smile turned into a grin, he did a curtsy and said in his most posh accent
"Apologies for the intrusion, Madame. I'm Ryan Evans, I'm here to take lord Chad to lord Troy's party" Chad groaned as he ended the call and made his way down, he sees Ryan's amused expression, he was assuming that his hair was a mess and he did not care one bit that Ryan saw him like this if he get to see that amused cheshire smile on the blonde's face
"so this is Ryan Evans?" Brianna asked, smiling at the blonde who was standing by the door
"yes, ma. This is Ryan" Brianna opened her arms and hugged the boy, thoroughly surprising him "I've heard so much about you! Come in, come in" she ushers the blonde inside their home, Ryan regained his composure and followed Brianna inside
"Aimee can't greet you since she's resting right now"
"that is completely fine by me, I'm the guest and unannounced too, you don't have to inconvenience yourself because of me" Brianna chuckles "I like him" she points at Ryan and grins at Chad who was rubbing his face
"alright, you two go and get to know each other. I'll just get ready" he mumbles under his breath, waving his hand and not even looking at the two who was beaming at him as he make his way back upstairs
As he goes back downstairs, fresh out of the shower with a new set of clothes, he sees Ryan and Brianna talking about musicals and theater, quietly leaning on the wall as he observed the two talk in a quick manner. Chad just can never get enough of Ryan
Ryan finally notices him and stopped, smiling at Chad "you ready?" Chad nodded, giving his mother a kiss on the cheek and bid her goodbye
"take care of my son" Brianna says and waves them goodbye as Chad and Ryan get into the blue convertible
"so what did you two talk about?" Ryan chuckled under his breath, as he put up the hood of the car and closed the windows as it looked like it was about to rain "you ask as if you didn't listen in our conversation"
"yeah, but I wanna hear you talk. More so, I want to hear you talk about it because I know you two talked about musicals and that makes you excited" he sees as the tips of Ryan's ears turn red and started to talk about what he and Brianna discussed. He liked making Ryan blush, he liked it more when he sees him excited over something and happy
Ryan finally parked near by the Boltons and looked at Chad who was staring at him with love and adoration, there was a soft smile on his lips as he raise an eyebrow at the thespian
"nothing" Ryan said as he shook his head, answering the unspoken question
"sure?" Chad asked, Ryan hummed in response, there was a long comfortable silence between them, they were just staring at each other as if it was a competition but then Ryan made the mistake of looking at Chad's lips, and all of a sudden he leaned it. When he realized midway that he was going in for a kiss that may or may not destroy his friendship with someone he really got along so well, he decided to kiss Chad on the cheek
"you missed" the jock said, he managed to sound teasingly and breathless at the same time and that did things to Ryan
"did I? Where should I have kissed you?" he smirked at him, both eyes were challenging each other
"here" Chad whispered and leaned in, giving Ryan a kiss on the lips. They both sigh in relief, Ryan's hands snake up to Chad's arm, gently squeezing it, slightly opening his mouth, kissing Chad Danforth was not something he expected to be doing but his whole body felt like it was on fire and Ryan deepened their kiss more, making Chad groan
Before they can even do anything else, someone knocks on the window of the car making the two slightly part away from each other and Ryan click his tongue in annoyance
"later?" Chad asked, not really letting go of Ryan
"later" Ryan smiled and gave him a quick kiss before they made their way out of the car to greet Sharpay (she's the one who knocked on the window) and Zeke
+One; my knight
there was a ringing in the room, making him sigh and quickly turn off the alarm. Finally opening his eyes, he scanned the room that he has been sleeping in for the past six years. His eyes landed on the body that laid beside him, breathing slowed and relaxed, lips slightly agape and both their hands were intertwined. The two golden bands on their ring fingers glinted in the morning sun that was peaking through their curtains
Ryan smiled as he caressed Chad's cheek and sat up so he can become more awake. He remembers the day that Chad gave him a promise ring back in 2012, doing a wedding vow because they knew it wasn't legal to get married yet, and when they both proposed to each other back in 2015 when same sex marriage was finally legalized then got married in 2016, Ryan thought that getting into Juilliard was a happiness that cannot be replaced by any other, but now, with his memories with Chad, waking up beside him, were memories that Ryan will never get tired of.
Chad groans and snuggles closer to Ryan's body warmth, he can't believe that this man has stayed with him for thirteen years and that they're married for six years now.
the door of their room slowly opens and two children popped their heads in, Amara and Aidan Danforth-Evans blinked at Ryan in surprise. Clearly not expecting for their father to be already awake
Ryan smiled at them and motioned for them to come into the bed with him and Chad
Aidan quietly moved but Amara had different plans as she ran and jumped on Chad's sleeping figure, making both Aidan and Ryan snort
Chad made a sound as if he was dying "oh nooo, the horrible horrible monster has me! My knight, save me" Chad rasped, reaching out to Ryan
"you can save yourself"
"hey!" they all laugh at their antics, Chad maneuvers himself and had Amara up on his shoulder as he stood up from the bed
Aidan was now trying to save his twin sister from the horrible dragon as Ryan just watched them from the bed. If someone asked him thirteen years ago where he sees himself in the future, he'll probably say that he'll be alone and happy, dedicating his time and life to work
If someone told him that he'd get to marry his long time crush, Chad Danforth and get to take care of two adorable little monkeys, he'd probably laugh at them and tell them they were crazy
But looking at the scene that was unfolding in front of him, the way Chad slowly went down to the ground with equal amounts of drama, and the twins laughing at him, Ryan would not trade this for anything in the world. It was not something he had foreseen in his teenage years but it was definitely better than anything
Untouchable (This Love pt 8)
Bucky x reader (elemental witch)
Set during TFATWS mainly episodes 4-5
Note: Little references on You All Over Me
Previous Part: Happiness
--------
“I’m letting you go, Bucky.”
It felt like he watched a part of himself die as soon as those words left your lips. How could he have been so late to realize that he’s in love with you? And in the worst possible time ever; When you finally look like you’re in peace and ready to open yourself once more to the world.
“I’d really like to be friends with you again someday. Maybe as you’ve said before, I will thank you.” You genuinely smiled at him and he almost wanted to yell at you to take it back. To say that you still want to be together.
But that would be so cruel of him. So he merely returned a smile, hoping that it came off genuine.
“You go alert Sam. I’m gonna try my best to stall Ayo and the other women. Though I doubt I could buy you more than a few seconds once the eighth hour rolls around.” you grinned and turned to go find where the Dora Milaje were waiting.
--------
Eight hours have passed and you were now taking the Dora Milaje to where Sam, Bucky, and Zemo would be.
Only when you were outside the door, you could hear an unfamiliar man’s voice almost threatening Sam into a fight.
“He’d die before he thinks he can hurt a friend to the throne.” Ayo commented, and before you knew it, one of them have thrown their spear before the man who you now can assume as discount Captain America could even raise a fist to Sam.
You walked in beside Ayo and based on Bucky’s expression, their business with Zemo wasn’t even close to done yet.
“Even if he is a means to your end, time’s up.” Ayo declared out loud in the room. “Release him to us now.”
“Hi. John Walker. Captain America.” The man interrupted. You bit your lip to stop yourself from laughing. This didn’t go unnoticed by Bucky however, who was mentally kicking himself because now was not the time to be reminded that he knows how those felt against his. The little taste of heaven he got.
“You were like a little sister to Steve Rogers, right?” He turned his attention to you with a cheery voice. “Happy to finally meet your new big brother?” He jested.
“Sorry. That positions been long taken over ever since the potty mouth racoon started exchanging memes with me.” you retort with a shrug, which made Sam cough to hide his chuckles, and Zemo to look at you as if that was the craziest thing he’s ever heard.
“Well, let’s uh, put down the pointy sticks and we can walk this through, huh?” Walker tried to gain control over the room’s atmosphere.
“Hey, John. Take it easy.” Sam butted in. “You might wanna fight Bucky before you tangle with the Dora Milaje. Or even worse, Y/N.”
“Yeah, I think I can take some water or rocks being thrown at me.” He smirked at you, making the side of your lip twitch.
“Careful, Walker, I’m almost twitching to blend that bloodstream of yours. I can control you like a puppet and I wouldn’t even have to move an inch from where I’m standing.” You smiled at him almost eerily, and Bucky was sporting a proud look on his face.
But of course, you weren’t gonna do it. You’ve long vowed to put puppeting the living off the table unless it was a life and death situation.
Walker gulped before turning once again to Ayo. “The Dora Milaje don’t have jurisdiction here.”
“The Dora Milaje have jurisdiction wherever the Dora Milaje find themselves to be.” You could almost see steam coming out of Ayo’s ears as she spoke. She could also feel that something didn’t feel right with this man.
Looking at his companion, you could see that unlike Walker, he was getting nervous.
“Look, I think we got off on the wrong foot.” Walker played it off, before he layed his hand on Ayo.
Then all hell broke loose.
--------
Ayo literally disarmed Bucky. Both of you shared the same shocked expression.
Walker was catching his breath after they handed his ass to him, and was failing miserably to remove the spear that held the shield up on the table.
Ayo opened the doors to where Zemo had last gone into, only to find it empty.
One of the women took the spear off effortlessly and picked up the shield as Walker was now on the ground looking defeated.
“He is gone. Leave it.” Ayo told her.
Picking his Vibranium arm off the ground, Bucky was still trying to wrap his head around what just happened.
“Did you know they could do that?” Sam asked, just getting up from the floor.
“Guessing from his reaction, no.” You commented as he attached it back and tested it. “Are you alright?” you approached him. His arm worked just fine. Relief flooded him.
“Yeah. How about you? You still got cuts and bruises from Madripoor.” He reaches out and holds a side of your jaw to turn your head as if to assess the minor damages on your face, causing your breath to hitch.
This was the first time he got to touch you again after all the distancing and avoiding you’ve been doing before. He smiled at you sweetly, making you confused. Sam was also giving Bucky a questioning look.
“I think I’m gonna help them look for Zemo. You guys gonna be alright?” you stepped back away from him and turned to Sam, and he nodded before giving you a hug and told you to be safe.
You gave Bucky a smile before leaving to catch up with the Dora Milaje. As soon as you were out of earshot, Sam turned to him with a smug expression.
“Have something to share, Bucky?” He asked playfully, already having a hunch why Bucky was acting all weird.
“Sam, I’m in love with her.” He replied, still staring at the direction where you just exited.
“Yeah, I figured.” he snorted in reply. It was about damn time.
“But just when it hit me, she then says she’s letting me go. Now I’m the one caught up in her.”
“Well that’s some angsty shit right there, man. Let’s grab something to eat first and talk about how your cyborg brain finally named the feelings you’ve had all this time.” Sam pats his shoulder before muttering that he was gonna need food for this discussion.
--------
You had an inkling that Zemo was heading to Sokovia. And it seemed that Bucky had the same though as he caught up on you and the Dora Milaje on your way there.
The moment you saw him, the dried blood on his face raised your concerns, and he was trying to hide the fact that he was enjoying your attention when you insisted on patching him up, and you were oblivious to the Dora Milaje’s teasing glances thrown his way, and even when one of them mouthed the word simps to him.
He made a mental note to look up what that means later.
I thought you’d be here sooner.” Zemo spoke as he got nearer. “Don’t worry, I’ve decided I’m not going to kill you.”
“Imagine my relief.” Bucky replied, clicking the gun on his side.
“The girl has been radicalized beyond salvation. I warned Sam, but he didn’t listen to me. He’s as stubborn as Steve Rogers before him. But you... they literally programmed you to kill. James, do what needs to be done. Karli has people everywhere, and there’s only one way to make sure she cannot continue her mission.” Zemo rationalized.
“I appreciate the advice. But we’re gonna do it our own way.”
Zemo chuckled softly. “Yeah. I was afraid you would say that.”
Raising the gun to his head, there was no once of fear in Zemo’s eyes, rather it looked like he was ready to be reunited with his family. This was further shown when he actually nodded at Bucky.
Only that nothing happened as he pulled the trigger. Instead, he raised his left fist, and as he opened it, the bullets fell off, clanking on the ground.
Just then, three of the Dora Milajes marched up behind him, ready to take him away this time.
“Ladies...” he acknowledged them before turning back to him. “I took the liberty of crossing my name in your book. I hold no grudges for what you thought you had to do.” Bucky nodded, appreciating the gesture.
“Parting words of advice...” Zemo spoke again, this time lower as he knew you might be somewhere nearer and might hear what he’s about to say next.
“Like every other dollar in our pockets, you can’t change where it’s been, James. Much the same goes for you. But Y/N... She loves you nonetheless. And if my eyes don’t deceive me, I’d say you feel the same but she’s doesn’t know that.” he smiles at him
“I’d only realized it myself recently.” He confesses, only then realizing that the three women were listening and now had their brows raised in surprise.
“Don’t be too late.” Zemo grinned in satisfaction of his confession.
“I’m gonna work on that, thank you.” He returned the smile.
“Goodbye, James.”
As you saw them lead Zemo to the ship, you took that as your cue to finally approach them. You’d witness the entire thing, except that it was all inaudible from where you’ve been standing.
“It would be prudent to make yourself scare in Wakanda for the time being, White Wolf.” You heard Ayo advise him as you were finally in earshot’s way.
“Fair enough.” he replies in understanding.
Ayo nodded at you as you came closer to where they were, and she shot you a teasing wink, confusing you while Bucky cleared his throat in embarrassment.
“We’ll wait for you in the ship.” she told you.
“I didn’t know you could be so theatrical, Bucky.” You grinned teasingly at him.
“Had to give you a little inkling to what was happening since you were so far away.” He gave you a boyish smile.
“You’re gonna pick those up later, right?” you gestured at the bullets still on the ground.
“Yeah, just after all of you are gone. Don’t wanna ruin the magic of that scene.” He replied scratching the back of his head, making you laugh.
"You’re going back to Wakanda with them?” Because if you are, then the universe was definitely punishing him since he can’t really go there right now as he pleases.
“Yeah, I’m long overdue for a visit.” You answered. “Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything to them. You’d be in their good graces again in no time.” you assured.
As you spoke, the sun was just starting to set behind you, creating a golden outline of you. The sight was making his heart pound. To him you were burning brighter than the sun.
Yep, the universe is definitely fucking me. He thought to himself.
And as you stepped closer, he felt like he was coming undone when you hesitantly pulled him in for a small hug.
“Take care of yourself, James.” you whispered.
James. She called me James. Heat was rising up in him.
Breaking off from the hug, you were blushing. “It’s alright if I call you that too, right? I mean I know I said that’s what I called 1940s you when we were testing the time portal, but it’s still you, you know, and-”
“You can call me whatever you want, sweetheart.” He cut off your rambling, smiling at you. “Just not Barnes again.” He added.
“Why?”
“Well, you were mad at me the whole time you did so.”
“Okay, dipshit.”
“Y/N.” he feigned offense.
You laughed at his expense. “I’ll let either one of you know if I’m back in New Asgard.”
“We’ll have a lot of catching up to do by then.” He smiled, and you turned to head to the ship where unbeknownst to you, the women and Zemo have been watching the two of you interacting.
“Hey Y/N?” Bucky called out to you at the last second.
“Yeah?”
He was contemplating whether he’d just tell you right then and there about his feelings. It was starting to eat him up, but then he shook it off, knowing that he and Sam still had a mission to finish first.
“I... I may have another favor to ask Wakanda.”
--------
When he got to Sam’s hometown, he saw that there was a community of people helping repair a boat. It reminded him of his time working with in the docs.
He’s now offered his services to help Sam repair their family boat. He’s also met his sister Sara, nad he was surprised that when he made an attempt to be charming, it actually kind of worked.
They were now enjoying a drink together after a day’s worth of fixing.
“Talked to Y/N, yet?” Sam asked him, taking a swing of the bottle.
“She’s a lot more friendly to me now which is both a good and bad sign for me. But I haven’t told her yet. Not really a good time.” he answered in dep thought.
“You know before we got ourselves tangled into this mess, like way before Walker happened and you decided to show up, we were in constant communication.” Sam shared.
“Yeah?” he failed to hide the jealousy in his voice, causing Sam to crack up.
“Don’t get your metal panties in a twist, man. We were mostly talking about you." he clarified. “She knew you didn’t want to see her - which I beg to differ by the way – but she was somehow hoping you would at least be talking to me.”
“I’m sorry for ignoring your calls and text.” He says to Sam, which the man assured him was fine. “There were instances at night where I couldn’t sleep and my thoughts would be plagued with her. That I wish I hadn’t been so rash with making the decision to be alone and leave her the way I did.” this was the first time he talked about it to someone. His own therapist didn’t know a thing about it.
“Let me ask you something. Where do you want to stand in her life after all of this is over?” Sam knew this wasn’t what co-workers would be talking about but he knew that this was for the good of you both.
“I want to spend the rest of my years making it up to her. To let her know that while it took me long to realize it, we were actually always in the same page.” He found himself replying with no hesitation. Sam was satisfied with this answer.
“And how are you gonna convince her to give you a chance?”
He shrugged. He didn’t know just yet.
“Tell you what. The younger people around here know their stuff when it comes to matters of the heart. I’ll have them make a manuscript you could read, or a video tutorial.” He chuckles. He had no idea Sam was being serious.
“Well...” Bucky got up and clinked their bottles together. “Gotta catch my flight tomorrow. Get a hotel for the night. Crash, you know?”
“You’re just gonna set me up like that, huh?” Sam grinned, shaking his head.
“Well I don’t wanna make it weird for your family.” He shrugged.
“Just stay here. The people in this town are the most welcoming people in the world. They don’t care if you wear small T-shirts, or if you have six toes, or if your mom’s your aunt, or that I work with a reformed cyborg that’s in love with a witch that’s practically an avatar, who apparently single-handedly secured her adoptive father’s kingdom’s economy-” Bucky chuckled at Sam’s ramblings.
“Okay, I get it. I mean, you know, the people are nice.” he concedes.
“But don’t displace your feelings for Y/n by flirting with my sister.” Sam pointed at him. “Cause if you do, I’ll have Carlos cut you up, feed half of you to the fish, and send the other half to New Asgard so they could to feed you to their fish.”
“Okay.”
--------
He was gazing up at the stars, feeling the soft grass underneath his lying figure. The comfort and peace it gave him was almost nostalgic.
“How is it possible that this place also has the best set of stars for us to look at?”  A voice spoke next to him. Turning his head to where it came from, his heart fluttered as he welcomed the sight of you lying next to him, looking up the sky with such wander in your eyes.
He recognizes this scenario. He had just woken up once again from a nightmare, and couldn’t fall back asleep despite your presence. So, you proposed you’d both get some fresh air and just lay out on the field while the rest of Wakanda was fast asleep.
At first he was hesitant, not wanting to keep you up any longer, but you insisted that you haven’t been able to sleep a wink before he woke up from his nightmare. That’s how he groggily got up and took the hand you offered up to him as you lead him out of your shared hut, and into the wide field before you.
“Ayo said you’re having progress.” you turned your head to look at him. This time, he was the one stuck looking up the sky. He merely let out a small grunt as a response.
“I’m proud of you, Buck.” He could almost hear the smile from your tone. The genuineness of it all made the side of his lip twitch.
Getting up halfway to face him, you were supporting yourself up with your elbow. “We could celebrate if you want.” you suggested.
“I’m not even fully recovered yet.” he replied.
“So? Every milestone to recovery should be celebrated.” you shrugged. “C’mon old man, it doesn’t have to be grand. Any piece of treat you have in mind?”
“I’ve been meaning to try sushi.” He muttered shyly.
“Consider it done.” you beamed at him, laying back down.
There it was again. The tingly feeling he had in his stomach, which only ever occurred every time you were near. Maybe this was the feeling of gratitude. You’ve never been less than nice to him.
Yeah, that explains it. He thinks to himself.
“Why are you so fine with spending your days here anyway? Don’t you have someone waiting on you out of Wakanda? Steve said you’re more social than him.” He found himself asking.
Still looking up, you were sporting a gentle smile on your face. “I spent a great deal reading up classic romance novels when I was just learning the Midgardian ways. And I’m still in love with the whole chivalry, slow-burn romance thing. Imagine my disappointment when the first civilian man I found inherently cute outright asked me if he could have some in the bathroom.” you pursed your lips, making Bucky crack a soft laugh.
“My ma would’ve had my head if I ever said that to a lady.” he replied smiling, his eye crinkling at the thought. “...is that why you said you find me incredibly attractive?” he found himself asking, surprising both of you.
Even underneath the stars, he could see the heat rising up your cheeks. “Oh, you remember that?” you chuckled awkwardly.
“It’s not every day a girl would say that to the world’s deadliest assassin whose just been accused of a bombing incident.”  he was mentally kicking himself for even opening up the topic.
“It’s Steve’s fault. He wouldn’t shut up about how charming and a gentleman you are. And it didn’t help that you’re annoyingly handsome.”
He shifted in his position. “Bet you’re disappointed now.” he said in a low voice.
“Not really.” you argued. “If anything, you’ve added the words hot and strong to the list.” you teased, poking him on the arm. He shook his head at how casual you were being.
“Sooner or later Buck, it won’t be just me crushing on you. Maybe you’d even find yourself falling for a civilian.” There was a hint of sadness behind your smiling eyes. Everybody in the kingdom knew of her allegedly having a crush on you, curtesy of Steve’s blabbering mouth, but this was the first time she actually admitted it.
He didn’t say it, but the thought of what you just said didn’t appeal to him. It felt almost wrong to imagine himself casually being open and carefree with someone else.
Carefree. This was what your conversation now felt like. You managed to somehow make him talk, far from his usual quiet and grunting self during daytime.
He opened his mouth trying to think if a reply when you cut him off.
“Don’t respond to that. You’ve already managed to make my drowsy self, confess having a crush on you.” he turned his head to look your way again, only to find that you now had your eyes closed, a small smile playing on your lips.
Letting you finally get some sleep; he turned his attention back to the sky.
And it's like the million little stars above him were spelling out your name.
Just then he wakes up from the dream, as the little whispers by the doorway caught his attention. Sam’s nephews were playing with the shield.
“Hey!” he raised his hand to greet them while still lying down on the couch.
“Put it back.” one of them said to the other. “Hurry, hurry.” and they both took off.
Alone once more, his thought went back to the dream of a memory he had with you.
He found himself smiling.
“May-”
“-And don’t forget the passports! Oh! The passports!”
“May!”
May stopped scrambling around the apartment only to find that you had the two passports already in your hand. The tired aunt pushed her disheveled hair out of her face, pushing her glasses back up her nose, and slowly calming down. It was fine... Peter had you, Peter had all his friends, Peter would be fine in Europe.
“Everything is going to go fine. I’ll be with him at all times and if he decides to wander off and do his Spiderman stuff––well then I’ll just have to call in some Avengers to stop him.”
“I trust that you’ll be able to keep him out of trouble if it comes down to it.” May picked up Peter’s suitcase off the floor and listened to his heavy footsteps draw down the hallway and into the living room where you had gathered with her.
“All ready?” He asked with those inquisitively wide eyes that reminded you so much of your mom. May handed him the suitcase but not before capturing the boy in a tight hug. Her “motherly” instincts grew since she returned from the blip. It was strange without the two of them. You, stuck here in New York without a leader in either Fury or Tony and the remaining members of S.H.I.E.L.D, Avengers and then the developed Sword, were left to pick up the pieces and build a life without them. That was the most difficult part.
“Promise me that you won’t get into any trouble?” May asked Peter who in reply rolled his eyes with a chuckle.
“It’s just a school trip. Besides, Y/n is going to be there and I’m sure she’s told you a million times that she can keep me in check.” You smacked the side of his head but he just ignored you and turned to the door, opening it with a rough pull with his spider-y force.
“We’ll see you in a few weeks, May!”
If you were able to take back all the words you said and never go to Europe, you would ask Stephen Strange to reverse time.
Venice was a mess. The water-creature-man-thing...? had erupted the small city into a chaotic terror with locals and terrified students trying to find cover. Peter was somewhere flying with webs while another hero whom you had never seen before was assisting him. After a few minutes of trying to guide a group of students to safety, you secured cover underneath an awning in front of a store.
“Ms. Parker! What do we do!?” Flash was almost in tears from fear which you couldn’t help but judge. It was water? the kid survived Thanos’ snap so he could survive this. Not to mention Fury would have your ass if any of the kids died on your watch.
Out of nowhere the ground started to fill up with water and cracking of concrete or bricks began echoing throughout the small courtyard you trapped them all in. The green man came swooshing in with a cloud of smoke, almost like an illusion, and stopped the water with the sheer force of his magical abilities. The creature reformed into what looked like a water man and the green man dodged the attack with made the sound of bricks tumbling increase in intensity. Suddenly, the tower to your right began crumbling and you pulled as many students as you could closer to the building you sought shelter next to.
“Get back! Get back!”
“Who is that guy!?” Jason, one of the students shouted out but you couldn’t answer the question because you didn’t know.
“I don’t know, but he’s kicking that waters ass.” Brad voiced exactly what you would have said.
The green man continued to fight the water as the tower crumbled beside you all and then, like the blink of an eye, the monster was gone and the water scattered, soaking your shoes with a safety that was much welcomed. The man landed to sounds of cheering from the students and locals that found themselves in the same spot as you. But something was different.
Maybe it was the fact that you couldn’t see his face, or maybe the fact that you had never heard of this hero and you literally worked for the agency that worked with them all. Maybe he wasn’t from this world? Space? Another universe? You could have sworn that you heard of the idea of a multiverse.
But maybe it was the fact that beneath all that smoke and mirrors that made up the helmet of the mysterious man, it felt as though when he looked around at his admiring fans, his eyes trained on you, staring through your soul with some feeling that wasn’t welcomed or unwanted either. Intrigue, that’s what it was. And when he flew off, everyone was left with a curiosity that sparked a great debate throughout the entire world. Who was this man?
Well, the T.V. at the hotel identified him as Mysterio. Peter managed to make it back in one piece which you were able to celebrate in a brief moment outside before the voices of interested students and the television interrupted the moment. Betty and Ned were searching every website for some kind of clue but nothing other than what the news reported was to be taken as fact. It wasn’t aliens, it wasn’t witches, it was just another hero.
So that was what you went with. That was until you opened your door to Fury sitting in a chair next to the window.
“Oh my God!” You shrieked and Fury laughed, laughed, at you.
“You scare too easy.”
“What are you doing here? I thought you were in spa-”
The slight reveal of a green hand made you shut up. "Fury” tilted his head with a slight “Ah, well.”
“Is this about that Mysterio guy?”
“We’ve got him at a site. Says he’s from another Earth and that these creatures destroyed his own and intend to destroy this one too.”
“Another Earth? So, the multiverse.. it’s real?”
“Fury” didn’t respond to that, but he simply rose and gestured over his shoulder to the window.
“There is a car outside. Go and wait in it while I go get Peter. The big man told me I need to scare the kid.” You smiled at the thought as the man left to go retrieve your brother.
You had been part of the world of superheroes far longer than Peter had. You had been there when Loki first attacked New York way back when and that seemed like so many years ago. With the blip, it seems like an entire eternity. Nick never let you in on his secrets of his relationship with Carol Danvers, but you had met the Skrulls when you went on a mission three months ago to visit Monica Rambeau in space. Unlike her, you weren’t blessed with some badass powers, though she didn’t always have them.
Peter looked terrified walking out to the car and when he saw you inside, he breathed a sigh of relief that he wouldn’t be alone. The site of S.H.I.E.L.D in Italy wasn’t far from where you had all taken up residence for the last day or two, but it was secluded, down in the catacombs of old buildings that no one would suspect. It reminded Peter of a Mission Impossible movie that you had watched with him before the two of you left for Europe, he felt more like a spy than a superhero in that moment.
As you walked behind the two down the long corridors of the abandoned treasure that was used as a make-shift S.H.I.E.L.D, you were surprised to see Maria at a computer, though now knowing about Fury, you were sure it wasn’t even her. The center of the room was filled with scattered agents who you weren’t familiar with and then a projection in the middle of the room, along with the man without the helmet.
You weren’t one for fawning over men. Jesus, you worked with Thor sometimes and while you were aware of his Godly looks, you never gawked. But this man, he wasn’t a God, he was just naturally beautiful. Dark hair, blueish-gray eyes that surely did pierce your soul, and a stature of a man who knew how to carry himself with power in the world. It was like he walked out of your dreams and into reality.
“This is Mr. Beck.” Fury introduced you and Peter to the man. Mr. Beck approached Peter with a small smile and held out his hand. Peter looked nervous but responded with his own shake.
“Mysterio?”
“What?”
“It’s just what my friends were calling you.”
“Well, you can call me Quentin. You handled yourself well out there today. I saw what you did with the tower. We could use someone like you on my world.”
Peter looked puzzled but Quentin looked behind the boy to you. He held out his hand with another smile which you returned. Maybe there was a shock when you touched hands, but you were sure it was just your imagination.
“Y/n Parker, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
“It’s good to meet you, Y/n.”
“Likewise.”
Did time rush by faster when you were in the presence of someone you were obviously attracted to? Yes, because before you knew it, the night was over, and Fury was leading you and Peter back out to the car. Peter was absolutely smitten with Quentin and could hardly break conversation. The man gave the attention to Peter like Tony did. It was like life imitating itself in another time. Quentin reminded you so much of Tony. Smooth with words, handsome, gifted in almost an unfair way, and he took an interest in the last piece of close family you had. You wanted nothing more than for Peter to have a figure in his life to give him a positive purpose. With Tony gone, he’s struggled trying to find his niche again.
“See you, kid.” Quentin looked disappointed but hopefully that his and Peter’s paths would cross again one day, even with Peter trying to avoid being identified by his class or the world. At some point, someone would figure it out if they hadn’t already.
“Yeah, see you.” Peter said as he walked out, following Dimitri, who Fury ordered to keep Peter in check with you. You were more than capable of doing it yourself but for some reason, Fury felt the need to send another agent.
“Good luck, Quentin.” You told him and he nodded his head, glancing at the holographic map of Venice next to him.
“I fear I’ll need it. But I’m hopeful that the good luck will be for more than just winning this fight.”
Swoon. That’s what you did for the remainder of the night and into the early morning. You couldn’t sleep a wink after the revelations that Quentin relayed to you and Peter about the elementals. That worried you too. How in the world was Peter supposed to sit by while other heroes with indisposed and couldn’t help? Sam and Bucky were on their own missions, Carole and Monica were off, Stephen and Wanda were no use and Thor was off on his own adventures with that team of riff-raffs from space–you know, the one with the talking tree.
But somewhere in all the jumble of thoughts, the scenery of the canal that had been a scene of something far different, calmed the noise. Enjoy the trip. This was the first time in years that you had traveled for something other than work and yet it was still filling every thought and moment. The thoughts were so loud and invasive that you didn’t register the person coming up to your right, ready to take the bag off your shoulders. You felt the tug and turned around, ready to punch the person but they dogged it, pulling it off your shoulder. It was a game of tug of war for the bag, but the person was strong.
“Let go! I said let go!” You pulled as hard as you could, therefore the bag came flying back to you and its contents spread across the sidewalk. The person glanced at the wallet on the ground and then back at you before you both dove to the ground. They grabbed it first and you tackled them to the ground. Wrestling with grunts and yells, you hadn’t noticed the audience of one that rushed to help. A blast of green light shot the person off of you and you clutched the wallet to your chest tightly, trying to reel in your ragged breath.
“I heard yelling from my hotel...” The hero started only to realize that it was you and with a turn of your head, you had realized it was him, Quentin.
“Oh! Are you alright?” He extended a hand, which you readily took to stand. He then helped collect the scattered items and put them back in the now ripped bag before handing it back to you.
“I’m fine. Thank you.”
“It’s no problem.” There was a brief, awkward lull but you weren’t sure what else to say.
“So, do you always wander around at night in a city you don’t know?” It was an icebreaker, a line that he knew would make you at least chuckle.
“No... I just had a lot on my mind. What you told us in there–it’s a lot of information to retain.”
“I’m sure an agent like you could handle it though.” You smiled bashfully at the compliment. Quentin gestured over his shoulder and shoved his hands in his pockets. You realized he wasn’t wearing his uniform anymore but just a pullover sweater and some dark jeans. How he shot the green light in the first place you didn’t know, but all heroes worked a little differently you suppose.
“Would you like to take a walk? I promise I won’t try to steal your wallet.”
“How do I know I can trust you?” The conversation was so light, and carefree that for the first time in a long time, you felt like a normal person. Quentin returned your cheeky smile and began walking.
“I’m pretty sure a woman like you could figure out who trust and who not avoid. Isn’t that what they train you for? Agents?”
“I suppose so, yes.”
“Can I ask you something?” You asked Quentin and he looked at you with a nod of his head.
“How did you know the elementals would turn up in our Earth?”
“Intelligence. My wife, she had worked for our version of your agency. Before they came to destroy our city, one had already manifested itself in Mexico. It was as if there would be a pattern to follow. So when she passed, I used her intelligence to figure out where they might be, which led me here.”
“I’m sorry for your loss.”
“Thank you, it’s been some time now. She would be glad to see Peter helping me, and you helping out with the cause.”
“Peter really took a liking to you. I could see it in the way he could barely contain himself.” You laughed, changing the heavy subject to one more light.
“He’s a good kid. You’re related I assume?”
“My little brother.”
“You should be proud of him. He is doing a lot of good for the world. I just wish he was more confident in his abilities to realize identity protect isn’t everything.”
Quentin was right, it wasn’t everything. But it was more than identity for Peter. It was also no Tony to lead the way, his want to be a normal kid, his need to have friends and well, MJ to like him. But neither of you would know what it was like to be a teen hero, that was a lot of unneeded pressure.
“It seems that I brought you around full circle.” The sound of Quentin’s voice broke the silence and the realization that you were outside the barely standing hotel. You sighed and tugged the bag on your shoulder.
“Thanks for saving the day, Mysterio.”
“Anything to help protect Agent Parker.”
If you hadn’t just met him a few hours ago, you would have asked him to come upstairs but that was far too forward for the world you created for yourself, so you extended your hand as he had earlier.
“May our paths cross again.”
He grasped your hand tightly and agreed.
“Hopefully under better circumstances.”
You watched then as he walked away, unaware of the man underneath the facade of Mysterio. How he already knew who you were, knew all your secrets, and was ready to manipulate you to take down the institution that denied him success so many years ago.
warning : smut - it’s literally just smut
part two
You were running away if you could even count making a grand escape from Boston to Philadelphia to your brother’s place. You had submitted your final paper in your dorm at Boston College, packing your bags and loading your car in what should have been the direction home. Instead, while you were packing your ex had posted a picture with his new girlfriend, and you felt like an idiot. You couldn’t believe it, gossiping to your friends that you’d slept with him a week ago and you were so sure you were getting back together. Now, you were just heartbroken and when you needed an escape - there was always Kevin.
So you drove in the direction of Philly, calling your big brother on the way down to tell him you were on your way. Kevin was in California, but told you to come regardless, worried about his little sister. You drove in silence, your mind racing for hours, finally pulling in front of Kevin’s building a little after nine. Philly was cold, but nothing compared to the cold December temperatures you were used to. You let yourself into his place, grateful for the key you kept the last time you came for a visit. The place was dark, and you stepped into the kitchen in search of any food.
“Hey Boston.”
You jump, letting out a small yelp and almost falling to the floor. You turn around to meet Nolan’s eyes, a smirk on his face while he stifles a laugh. You huff, crossing your arms and raising your eyebrows at him, “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“I live here, what the fuck are you doing here?” Nolan scoffs, looking at you like you’d completely lose your mind. Nolan wouldn’t have told another soul, but he was happy to see you. Kevin would murder him if he ever let it slip, but Nolan wanted to do absolutely filthy things to you. So Nolan settled on teasing you, because if you thought he didn’t like you then he wouldn’t have to cross that line.
“If you really must know, I didn’t want to go home and tell my parents all about my ex boyfriend’s new girlfriend,” You mutter, holding in your tears because Nolan didn’t need to see you cry. You were almost sure he hated you, and you didn’t know why. Nolan was pretty nice to everyone, especially when your family came into town. Kevin loved him, and constantly bragged about his roommate, but Nolan gave you shit all the time.
Nolan let out a deep breath, processing your words and the tears that were threatening to spill from your eyes and he wanted to fix it. He wanted to throw his arms around you, and hold you until it all felt okay but that was a slippery slope for Nolan, “Go put your stuff in the guest room, I’ll get us something to eat.”
You emerged a little while later, your hair wet from a warm shower and an oversized t-shirt hanging from your frame, covering the shorts you had on. You pad into the living room, sitting on the opposite side of the couch as Nolan, tucking your knees into your chest. You looked frail like someone had taken your already broken heart and snapped it again.
“Pizza should be here soon,” Nolan whispers, looking over at you with sad eyes. He looked warm, a hoodie covering his hair that was longer since the last time you saw him, “You-”
“Want to smoke?” You both let out the question at the same time, laughing when you realized what you did. That was the one thing you and Nolan seemed to bond about, smoking with Kevin was awful because his voice seemed to echo afterwards and it was too much for the both of you. Nolan got up, disappearing for a second and reappearing with a joint already rolled in his hand.
“All you Boston,” Nolan drops them in your hands, and you roll your eyes that his dumb nickname for you. You put the joint between your lips, sparking the end and letting the smoke slip through your lips.
“Shut up baby cat,” You tease, coughing from the smoke and smirking at Nolan. Nolan takes the joint from your hand, taking a hit and letting the smoke fall from his lips.
“You don’t get to call me that,” Nolan teases, a hazy smile on his face when he looks over at you, “Feeling any better?”
“I will be when-” You go to tell him that when the pizza was here everything would be fine, and as if you were magic the doorbell buzzed to let you know your delivery was here. You make a surprised face, looking at Nolan to see if he was nearly as excited as you were, but he was just laughing at your face.
You devoured the pizza, the both of curing your munchies and settling on whatever garbage reality show was on at the time. It was a comfortable silence inching over closer and closer to Nolan as time went on, before you knew it, you were practically curled into his side. You were busy on your phone, instagram stalking your ex’s new girlfriend to compare every part of you to her.
Nolan looked down at you, furrowing his eyebrows until he figured out what you were doing. Your head was against his shoulder while you looked at who he assumed was your ex’s new girl. He sighs, taking your phone out of your hand and tossing it on the other side of the couch.
“Nolan what the fuck was that for?” You ask, raising your voice and giving Nolan a look.
“Stop comparing yourself to that girl,” Nolan huffs, his voice deep from exhaustion while he stares at you. He thinks for a moment, carefully mulling over his next words because he had one chance not to fuck this up, “You’re fucking perfect.”
“Yeah okay,” You snort, rolling your eyes and sitting up next to Nolan, “Don’t even look at me and tell if you had a choice you wouldn’t choose her.”
Your voice was shaking, and you didn’t know what answer you were expecting, Nolan was only nice to you because you were Kevin’s sister. There wasn’t any other reason Nolan Patrick would give you the time of day. Nolan's eyes were staring into yours and he rubbed a hand over his jaw while he thought. His lips pressed against your jaw pressing feather light kisses against your skin while Nolan mumbled.
I’d choose you anyday.
You’re so beautiful baby.
Only you.
His lips were ghosting over yours, your eyes closed, just waiting for him to finally close the gap between the two of you, “Kiss me Nolan.”
Nolan’s lips on yours was pure ecstasy, like every part of your body was on fire. Nolan pulled onto his lap and you straddle his hips, grinding down on him while letting out a whimper when his hand smacked your ass lightly. Nolan’s lips were on your neck, leaving a mark you know you were going to have to cover later, “Y/N-”
Nolan’s voice was deep, and your name falling from his lips instead of that stupid nickname was enough to make you wet. Your hands found the ends of Nolan’s hair, tugging on him slightly causing him to groan underneath you. Nolan pulls away, looking up at you with swollen lips, and you’d never looked better. His hands were under your shirt, your skin soft under his calloused fingertips and legs wrapped around his waist while he grew hard underneath you. He slipped a hand into your shorts, ghosting over your core with his fingers.
“Please,” You plead, pressing a kiss against Nolan’s jaw. You needed a release, someone to make you feel special even if you never spoke of this again. Nolan was a hockey player and you’d been around enough to know how easy it would be for this to be a one and done thing, “I’ll be a good girl.”
That was all it took for Nolan to slip his finger under your panties and rub a circle over your clit. You roll your hips in his, desperate for any sort of friction, “Mmm I thought you were going to be good? You’ve got to be patient princess.”
You nod, pouting and looking at Nolan who was smirking at you. He grabs your thighs, standing up and carrying you into his bedroom. You fell back on the mattress, grabbing Nolan’s neck and pulling his lips back onto yours. He slipped your panties and shorts off one swift motion, leaving them to be forgotten about. You pulled of your shirt, and Nolan stops, his eyes wandering down your body, “Nol-”
“This is better than I imagined, god you’re perfect,” Nolan hums, his hands slowly moving down your body. He finally hooks your legs over his broad shoulders, pressing a kiss to your thigh, “You’re sure about this?”
“Nolan your head is between my thighs I think I’m sure,” You tease, kicking him in the back lightly. Nolan nods, flicking your clit with his tongue, pulling a moan from your body. It was everything he ever wanted to hear. His grip on your thighs tightened, his nails digging into your skin while he teased your entrance, “Nolan, fuck-”
Nolan’s lips wrap around your clit, slipping in a finger and curling it to hit your g-spot. Your hips lifted off the mattress, grinding against Nolan’s lips while he fingered you. You were close, curses and moans leaving your mouth because there were no other thoughts running through your head other than how good Nolan was making you feel.
“I know your close baby, c’mon,” Nolan growls against your pussy, sending you over the edge. You let you a yelp, your orgasm overcoming you while Nolan fingered you through your high. You ran your hands through his hair while you caught your breath, Nolan pressing kisses into your thighs. He didn’t give you much downtime, grabbing a condom from his bedside drawer and kicking off his sweats. You played with your clit, watching Nolan roll the condom over his cock and your pussy dripped in anticipation.
“I want to cum to all over your cock,” You whimper, Nolan finally sliding inside of you. He was big and the feeling was sensational. He pressed a kiss to your cheek, snapping his hips into you while you screamed underneath him, “Harder.”
Nolan was in euphoria, his name was leaving your lips like a prayer, begging him to absolutely ruin you. This was Nolan’s dirtiest fantasy, from the moment Kevin introduced him to his little sister with a threat for Nolan to keep his grimy little hands off of you. His hands were all over you now, gripping your hips while he fucked you, sure to leave bruises in his wake. Nolan’s hand ghosted over your neck, and you let out a deep breath at the contact, “Can I?”
“Fuck, yes,” You nod, letting Nolan’s large hand wrap around your throat. His was using you for leverage, fucking you into his mattress while you let out moans underneath him, “Fuck I’m close-”
“Be a good girl and cum for me,” Nolan spat, teeth grazing your jaw while he watched you fall apart underneath him. He let go of the grip on your throat, giving you no time to rest before his strokes got faster. He needed to chase his high, spilling into the condom while you shook from the aftershocks of your own. Nolan stayed inside you for a minute, his head in your neck while you watched the sweat that was glistening on his forehead. You ran a finger through his hair, wondering what the fallout from this was going to be.
“That was,” Nolan stops, muttering against your skin because he was speechless. The wasn’t just good, it was mind blowing, and the temptation to do it again might be a problem for him, “That was fucking incredible Boston.”
“Sure was,” You breathe out, picking Nolan’s head up and pressing your lips to his. You made out lazily for a while, basking in the post sex glow before you knew you were going to have to kick Nolan out. Kevin would be back in the morning, and if he caught you in bed with his teammate Nolan wouldn’t live to see another day.
“We should do this again sometime?” Nolan asks, watching you collect your clothes from his room. He wanted you to stay, sleeping under his arm in his bed where you should have, but he knew he was playing with fire. You look at him, a smirk on your face and a blush on your cheeks.
“You just might get lucky twice Nolan.”
And Nolan hoped he would...
