Kuroo

You were sitting in the café while waiting for Kuroo to arrive, he just texted you saying that he’ll be a few minutes late to your date, but you didn’t notice the message, too in your head to even hear the ring of your phone.

Lately you been feeling like your friends were being unnecessary mean to you. Sure, you always were a bit rude to each other, you always were playfully fighting with each other, but things never cross the line about your personal boundaries…until a few weeks ago. Suddenly you fights didn’t had that playful tone in them, they started to feel real, and suddenly, they were messing with things that you had told them were sensitive. You thought that you will be friends with them despite the distance between your univerties, but when you meet up again in person everything felt so different.

You were so absorbed in your thoughts, trying to figure out if you had done anything to them, that you hadn’t listen the door of the cafeteria open, let alone the steps coming close to you or the sweet voice of your boyfriend calling your name; you only snapped away from them when a hand places on your shoulder, Kuroo looking down at you worried as he kisses your temple and sitting down in front of you.

“hey, what’s wrong?” he asked

“Eh? Nothing, don’t worry” you smile at him, hesitant to tell him

“Yeah, sure, tell that to your face next time too” he says playfully, trying to make you smile “you can tell me anything, I’ll help you out however I can”

“well, it’s just….” You sigh before explaining to him the thoughts that were in your head prior to his arrival. He just sighs, he knows your friends and he thought that your bickering was cute, but there was no mistake in their recent actions

“well darling, I could always talk to them if you want me to” he offers, trying to find a rational solution for you first “but…”

“mhm?”

“I personally don’t think is worth it to keep them around any longer” he says, he didn’t want to keep you away from them, but the hurt in your eyes wasn’t a lie “you told them you didn’t like those ‘jokes’, they didn’t listen. If they don’t respect your boundaries there’s no point in being friends”

“I…I” You listen to him attentively before bursting down crying, you knew he was right, of course he was “we’ve been friends for so long though, they were my only friends since high school…”

“I know, darling, I know” he comes to your side, hugging you “you have me for whatever you need; Kenma too, he does like you a lot too even though his personality doesn’t show it; hell, even Bokuto adores you and he met you once before” he says, making you chuckle “and I have no doubt you’ll meet more people in your classes, you’re amazing, anyone that doesn’t want to be your friend is the idiot”

You chuckle again, relaxing into his arms as you try to calm down. Everything will be alright as long as you had him by your side.

“now, let’s order something and go to my place?” he asks you

“Sure, let’s go”

Bokuto

You were hanging out with your friends while waiting for Bokuto to arrive. Well, hanging out with them was an overstatement, after all you were being left out of the conversation after trying to join multiple times, leaving you on the side while they giggle about whatever they were talking about. You eyes were stinging due to the tears that were about to come out, feeling depressed about the way this day has ended.

Originally you and your so called friends were going to hang out during the day on a convention after months of not seeing each other, and everything seemed rather normal in the beginning; but not even an hour has passed when you noticed that they slowly started to put you aside. First every comment you made was ignored or laugh off, then they left you behind while walking, and now they seemed to completely forgotten that you were even there as they talk about a relationship of one of them that you weren’t even aware it was happening. You wanted to call Bokuto to pick you up early, but you knew he had practice so you laugh it off and wait.

But once you saw Bokuto walking towards you, excited grin on his face as he waves his hand, that you tears started to roll down involuntary. With Bokuto affection and attention was never a problem, but after feeling so unappreciated today, his overexcited self was so welcomed.

He saw your tears, confused as to why you were crying before he noticed the way you were sitting alongside your so called friends. They were all together on one side of the table while you were alone on the other, no one sitting beside you as they chit chat with each other. He walked faster towards you, unexpectedly pulling you up of the chair and giving you a big hug

“Hi, my cutie pie” he hugs you tightly, the eyes of your friends popping out as they realize just who was in front of them “why didn’t you called me earlier if you were uncomfortable?”

“you had practice”

“that can wait, coach would have understand!” he adds, taking your bag in his shoulder as he pulls you even closer to him. He then turn towards your friends, who are babbling something to you, and gives them an uncharacteristically serious look “you should be ashamed, no one deserves to be ignored om purpose, let alone someone that you call your friend”

With that he pulls you away from them, but instead of going to his car, he takes you to some stalls

“Aren’t we going home?” you asked

“Well, it’ll be a waste not to enjoy this place! Besides you probably didn’t actually enjoy it, so let’s have some fun first!” he says going back to his carefree self, and while you didn’t know if he did it to cheer you up or because he did actually wanted to be in the convention, you did up enjoying it this time around with your lover.

Suna

You lay in the bed waiting for Suna to come to lay with you, watching social media while he showers after a long day of practice. You had to take your make up off, but were feeling too lazy to stand up right now.

You were supposed to go out with your friends tonight, nothing too crazy, just some hangout with them; but at the last minute they message you telling you that it was cancelled since something had come up. You didn’t mind, you didn’t really enjoyed going out anyways, so staying in with Suna make you more than happy.

That was until you entered Instagram and saw the stories posted.

You saw the normal stories from her day, until you arrived to one that was posted 30 minutes ago, in the place that you were supposed to hang out. You tried to not overthink about it, maybe she ended up going alone since she was already ready; but then you saw the next one, which was posted in the closest friend tab, with the three of them hanging out there and having fun.

Oh.

“hey, we need to buy more shampoo, we close to running out of – you okay?” Suna tells you going out of the bathroom, only a towel on his hips. You pass him your phone, letting him see the stories your ‘friends’ posted as he raise his eyebrows, visibly annoyed “those bitches are the lowest of the low”

You chuckle weakly, you knew he would be the first to curse at them

“hey, you haven’t take that pretty make up off, have you?” he asks tossing the phone in the bed, taking some clothes off the closet

“No I haven’t, why?”

“Well, put some pretty dress on, were going to have some dinner” he says

“weren’t we going to order some take out and watch movies?”

“and let them think they won? Not in my watch, pretty, they have the nerve of post their hangout knowing that you’ll see them, so now it’s your turn to brag”

You chuckle, he was petty, you knew that, so this shouldn’t surprise you at all

“and how do you plan to find a place with space for us?”

“nothing some money can’t help” he winks at you “lets go, a fancy dinner is waiting for my pretty girl”

You did end up in a fancy restaurant, in a table with the best view of Tokyo and the group of your ‘friends’ blowing up with notifications about how sorry they were. You’ll make sure to block them later, for now you’ll enjoy the dinner with your boyfriend.

Your chest hurt

You're used to the feeling, though it doesn't make it hurt any less

Walking home with Kuroo was a daily occurrence, just like his bragging about the number of confessions he had received that day

He always tries to tease you about how you "get no action (n/n)"

He doesn't know you're gay

You've tried to tell him before, but you chickened out after looking into your bestfriends eyes for a second too long

"And then there was this girl in my chem class............."

Kuroo babbles on

It hurts you

You get that funny feeling in your chest everything he talks about girls

But you never let your facade slip, and continue to pretend that you're interested and support him

By this point, it may as well be method acting

"How come you don't crush on any girls, (n/n)?"

" 'cause I don't like girls."

You didn't even think

It just slipped out

"Oh..."

You look up at the taller man with fear in your eyes

But he has a smirk on his lips

"How come you don't have the guys lining up then?" He teases

It didn't affect him whatsoever

Kuroo is a good friend to you, unconditional support no matter what

Anyone would be lucky to have a friend like him, so why did his support kill you on the inside

It gives you butterflies in the worst way possible...

"Hey! Wait for me, (n/n)!" Kuroo shouts from behind you

You tried to escape early today. Your heart couldn't really take more of his girl blabber

"Oh, sorry, Kuroo" you say with a small smile

The walk I again filled with his own talk about girls

But he pauses at one moment

"About what you said yesterday...."

"We don't have to talk about it" you interrupt quickly

You smile up at him and keep walking

Kuroo sighs but smiles back

Truth be told, Kuroo always rejected the girls that asked him out

He had put it down to the fact that a relationship would only add more stress to his life - he already gets only 4 hours of sleep because of his parents fighting

But recently, he's been thinking that he'd also rather spend time with you

And if he were I a relationship, then that would mean he couldn't

But he kept the thought to himself as he walked you home

Lying in bed late at night was something you usually did

But you looked at the alarm clock at said "3:00" in big red numbers and sighed

Those evil butterflies have returned, you'd been thinking about Kuroo again

Tears flowed down your cheeks as you breathed shallowly

You'd wished he was less of a good person

You'd wished that Kuroo would just be cruel about it and drop you after he'd found out you liked guys

But he didn't

He did the bare-minimum but it still made your heart flutter after he'd accepted you so easily

You lie on your side and continue to cry until your ducts are dry

Thinking about Kuroo until you'd fallen asleep

Just 10 minuets away, Kuroo was also awake in bed

Listening as his parents argue about idiotic things

He doesn't want a relationship like theirs

Kuroo's thoughts drift as his parents' argument fades into the background

He doesn't ever want a marriage like his parents. He wants to be friends with his lover

Get to know them really well, as well as he knows you

Then his thoughts drift to thoughts of you

Kuroo really liked you, the two of you clicked immediately when you were sat together in English

He was closer to you than with Kenma, and that's saying a lot

From admiring you as a friend, Kuroo's thoughts moved on to how cute you were

You took his teasing with a blush, and even teased him back sometimes

He then thought about how cute you looked - his type exactly but as a guy instead of a girl

He liked the nicknames you'd given each other, sort of like pet names

After a solid half an hour, Kuroo noticed his parents had gone to sleep and shut up, and that he'd been thinking about you for half an hour...

And his thoughts were definitely not very 'no homo'

A funny feeling filled his stomach as he thought about you again

Kuroo fell asleep finally, but the thought of you didn't leave his mind

School the next day was a little different

Kuroo still met you early in the morning to walk with you, and there was the normal complaining about his parents

He only did that with you, he was comfortable around you

But his blabber about girls was missing, it gave you a well needed break...

During English, you noticed him staring at you a lot

"You good, Roo?" You whisper warmly

His eyes stared into yours for a second too long

"I'm great..." he whispers with a smile, it made your heart pang

You wish you could have him as more than a friend, but it'll pass (you hope)

You'll forget about it.

Break and lunch was normal with the guys, but Kuroo was a lot more touchy with you than normal

An arm around the shoulder was normal, but asking you to feed him as he sat behind you and hugged you was strange

You'd almost had it by the end of volleyball

He kept looking over to you and smirking, it made you feel uneasy

And when one of the guys asked him about the girl in chem

Kuroo responded in a way that made you feel sick yo your stomach

"Nah, I'd rather spend time with (n/n) than her"

You were silent on your way back home, mumbling responses to Kuroo's "are you okay?"s

You felt ill from the mix of emotiond

When you felt his hand on yours, you snapped

Your heart was pounding, and your face went pale

"WHAT IS UP WITH YOU TODAY??!"

Lucky you were both in front of your house and not in the middle of the street

"What do you mean, (n/n)?" Kuroo tries to reach for you and calm you down

"Don't (n/n) me, Kuroo. You've made my day hell today with all the mixed signals... I guess you figured it out and decided to tease me. You've taken it too far!"

Kuroo was worried

Worried to lose you over something he had no idea about, worried that this argument reminded him of his parents, worried him that he may lose you as more than just a friend

"Mixed signals? What do you mean, (y/n)??"

Kuroo was pleading, his face full of sadness and worry

"Don't play dumb... you figured out I like you and... and you're being a dick about it"

Kuroo's world stops

"You... like me?" Kuroo says confused, but then a smile starts to form

"Great..." tears spill from your eyes

"You didn't know and now I've told you. I'm sorry, Kuroo... you can pretend you never heard that." You say as your tears drop onto your shirt and the floor

You rush into your house, locking the door as Kuroo shouts for you to come back put and talk

A day passed by

Kuroo tried to talk to you in the morning, but you shut him down with a short "later"

Everyone noticed the two of you weren't talking

Your day was consumed by him, and vice versa

It felt like you were drowning in the emotions and thoughts of only one thing: Kuroo

By routine, you head over to the volleyball court

"(Y/n) we have to talk"

Your skin crawls and you jump from the surprise

You turn around and see a glum looking Kuroo

"Yeah, we need to talk about it at some point..."

The two of you head towards a more secluded area

Your hearts racing

Your chest is in an indescribable kind of pain

You feel so ill, you might hurl

"I'll start, I guess..." you say quietly

Kuroo stays quiet and listens

"I promise I didn't like like you since the beginning... I did see you as a friend. It's just that for the past year, I've had these feelings that I can't explain"

"I think I know the feeling you're talking about, (n/n).... that panging feeling in your chest and heart"

You feel warm from the nickname

You look into his eyes and smile

"Yeah... those fucking butterflies..."

"I'm sorry that I like you, it's a lot to put on you... plus you like girls so I know it's an impossible situation" you say with a defeated chuckle as your eyes fall to the ground

"No!"

Kuroo's shout brings your eyes back up to his

"I- I like you too! Or at least... I think so? I've always liked girls but with you... I like you more than any girl I've ever dated! When I think of the kind of relationship I want with someone, I think of the one I have with you! It's all slipped passed me until now but..."

"(Y/n)... I think I'm in love with you!"

Your heart skips a beat

Tears flood your eyes, and you and Kuroo both go in for a hug

Not for a kiss, there's still a lot more talking to do before you can both get the sweet relief of a kiss

But a tight, long hug will do for now

Those evil butterflies have been replaced with good ones

You're chest no longer hurts

a/n: I just needed to write about kenma being mean to you and you being mean back, if you want I can make a smut version as well... heavily inspired by the Netflix series "The Beef", made me cry sm . like, comment, re-blog ily ! don't copy my work . not proofread .

★ As soon as he met you he despised you . He couldn't stand the sound of your annoying ass voice, all he wanted was to sit in peace . Usually he doesn't mind being around loud people but you... You pissed him off for some reason, he never wanted to be around you.

"I don't think Kenma likes me..." you whispered in Kuroo's ear. You started to sense Kenma rolling his eyes at you and scoffing every time you spoke. He annoyed you, if he had something to say, you wanted him to say it to your face .

It was so obvious you were talking about Kenma, he sat in front of you and Kuroo. You talked so loud, you couldn't even whisper silently, it irked Kenma even more.

"You're fine Y/n, everyone loves you," Kuroo reassured, patting your back, gently.

Kenma furrowed his eyebrows as he played his game. Yeah right, he can't even stand you. He would never be able to like someone so childish and annoying...

★ He hates the fact that all of his friends adored you. He knows damn well they only like you because you are somewhat attractive. He knows what you are thinking when you show up to their practices in skirts and tank tops, he knows that you're just there because you're a slut .

"Stop distracting our team, just get out of here... We don't want you here anyway," Kenma mumbled, sweat dripping from his forehead.

To be fair, you were kind of distracting Kuroo and Lev by talking to them whenever they got the chance to speak with you. But still! It infuriated you that Kenma worded it like that, it was rude!

"No need to be rude Kenma, I'm here to support my friends," you retorted, crossing your arms. you've about had it with him, you know he doesn't like you. And it pisses you off because you did nothing!

★ Kenma loathed the way his friends talk about you any chance they get. You are a cute girl, those boys just can't help themselves. Still, it makes Kenma frustrated.

"Y/n is so sweet, she made me some brownies today," Kuroo swooned. Kuroo had a little thing for you, you weren't aware of this but all of the boys knew.

"Oh yeah? Well she's planning to wear my jersey the next time we have a game," Yaku teased.

"She said she'll be cheering for me at the next game too. Only me," Lev added, punching Kuroo's shoulder playfully.

Kuroo started to visibly sulk.

"...I hate you guys... She won't be doing any of that, she's going to-"

"Can you guys please shut up? I'm tired of hearing about Y/n, that's all you guys ever talk about. It's annoying," Kenma said, his eyes glued to his phone.

★ Finally, you confronted him at a party in front of everyone. After that day, the two of you HATED each other, or so you thought. You could never see yourself being friends with him, ever.

"What the hell is your problem?! You spilled that drink on me on purpose!" you yelled, very angry at the situation. You were embarrassed, everyone saw, it made you feel like crying. You had issues when it came to having everyone pay attention to you. You only liked being around your group of friends, not the whole damn party.

Kenma did spill his drink on you but it wasn't on purpose, it was a simple accident. He bumped into you as you were dancing with Kuroo and Bokuto, causing his cup to spill on your clothes. Still, he found it amusing when he saw you get angry at the situation, so he did not apologize or even acknowledge you until you called him out.

"I didn't do it on purpose so..."

"Yes you did!" you exclaimed, Kuroo held on to your shoulder, trying to calm you down.

"Let's calm down y/n," Kuroo tried to say.

"Stop trying to defend her idiotic ways. She can handle things herself, she's not a damn baby," Kenma commented, feeling more aggravated

Kenma pinched his eyebrows together.

"What did I ever do to you?! Seriously! You're always so mean for no reason! I knew you didn't like me but holy fuck, spilling a drink on me is a bit much!"

"So bothersome... I'm going to tell you this once. I. Did. Not. You fucking idi-"

Slap!

★ After the whole slap situation Kenma saw you in a different light kind of... He still hated your guts but he did notice how strong and confident you were. He couldn't help but admire some of the good aspects of you. So instead of dreading you, he openly speaks to you, only making rude comments of course. And you did not hold back either.

"What should I wear to Akaashi's party?" you asked, showing off a few outfits to Kuroo and Bokuto. The men sat on the floor, they loved listening to your rants and their favorite thing to do is tell you what to wear.

"The black skirt is cute," Bokuto said, pointing at the skirt in your left hand.

"No way! I like the dress, it always shows off your natural curves," Kuroo added, giving you a sly wink.

You giggled at their suggestions, Kuroo and Bokuto were your favorite friends.

Kenma groaned, bored of the conversation, he was dragged there because he is Kuroo's best friend so he was forced to go wherever he went.

"Do you have an issue?" you asked, sassily, placing your hands on your hips.

"Your voice is so damn annoying,"

You pretended to gasp, gripping your chest. "How mean Kenma!... Is what I would say if I cared. I didn't even want you here so please refrain from making any unnecessary comments,"

Kenma rolled his eyes at your bratty attitude.

★ You two banter all the time, some would consider it flirting but you never saw it in that way. Mutual disrespect for each other... Yeah, only mutual disrespect.

You whined, begging Kuroo not to leave you with Kenma. He was on his way to class, if he went to class, you'd be left with Kenma.

"Please Tetsuro!" you begged, giving him the best puppy eyes you could. "Stay! Skip class! Please!!"

Kuroo smiled, he loved seeing your bratty side, it excited him. "You know I can't n/n, just stay with Kenma, I'll be done in an hour,"

You groaned. Kenma cocked his eyebrow at you.

"Trust me, I'm not happy either," he mumbled, his hands shoved deep into his sweatshirt pockets.

"Oh of course you are Kenma! I know you're in love with me, you love being around me!" you cheered, sarcastically.

Kenma visibly gagged, causing Kuroo to laugh.

★ Eventually though... The two of you were forced to be around each other more, creating an unusual bond. You both don't directly hate each other, you just don't have a super stable friendship. But! You guys can be with each other without having the mean tension.

"Sup bitch, have you seen Kuroo?" you asked, placing your legs on Kenma's lap.

He shoved them off him instantly.

"Disgusting. And I don't know where he is, I think he went to grab some snacks for movie night,"

You hummed to yourself. A happy tune was in your mind and you couldn't help but hum.

"Can you hum quieter? Holy shit, so annoying," Kenma said, pulling his own hair. Obviously he was joking.

And with him saying that, you hummed as loud as you could.

★ Uh oh... Why did he have to walk in on you changing your clothes... That just made some things weird between you two...

"Idiot, where are you-"

Your face burned with embarrassment, you were in the middle of removing your shirt in your room. Why the hell did he have to come in right now?!

The two of you just stared at each other... In complete silence, unsure how to break the awkward tension.

Luckily, Kenma slammed the door shut.

"What the fuck," he thought, taking a deep breath. "No fucking way..." he continued thinking, looking down at his pants.

Kuroo ran to the scene, worried about the door being slammed.

"What's up with you? Oh shit man you have a boner," Kuroo commented, pointing at his pants.

"No shit!"

You heard the whole conversation, shaking your head, wishing you didn't hear anything.

★ After that the two of you just teased each other, meanly, sometimes being harsh. And actually started building a friendship, not a friendly one though.

"Slut,"

"Pervert,"

"You wanted me to walk in on you," Kenma yawned, placing his hands behind his head.

The two of you were currently walking through the hallways, planning to meet up with Kuroo. This was the first time you guys spoke about the situation. It made your cheeks burn thinking about it. But... It made Kenma feel other things.

"Shut up! You probably were spying on me! You wanted to see me like that,"

Kenma shrugged. "I still think you wanted me to walk in on you,". He faked a gasp "Are you in love with me?!"

"You wish," you rolled your eyes.

SO I JUST READ LIKE THE CUTEST HAIKYUU FATHERHOOD ONE SHOT AND NOW I WANNA DO HAIKYUU CHARACTERS AS DADS, HEAD CANONS (More of the earlier stages of fatherhood, when they first experience it)

This is the first thing I've written on tumblr pls spare me...

He was quite surprised at the announcement of your pregnancy that he passed out

He was soooo excited none the less, being a father sounded pretty fun

He definitely started reading books to try to help him figure things out

He was a terrible diaper changer (like no fucking joke, I think he'd be scared to change another one), he'd seen you do it so many times but for some reason he could never avoid getting peed on

Would brag to everyone about how cute his little baby is, "My baby just got their first tooth, and they're learning how to crawl! They've also got the cutest little chubby cheeks."

If the baby looks like you he would literally talk about it all the time. "Beautiful, just like your mama."

He's had experience with babies because well... Natsu <3

He got the baby a matching jersey so you two could watch his games :)

Bokuto Kotaro:

After finding out you were pregnant he would tell EVERYBODY The two of you were walking together to get ramen and you guys walked into the restaurant and got seats. The waiter came to you two and asked what'd you like to drink. "Hey, guess what? My wife is pregnant! Isn't that amazing?! We're gonna have a baby!" You had to hide your face from embarrassment but the waiter just giggled, Bokuto is def a himbo, your himbo.

He enjoyed decorating the room for your baby

He would dead ass miss practice to go to your appointments for the baby

The first time he held your little bundle of joy he cried like a damn baby, he couldn't help it. It made him so happy that the two of you brought a life into the world.

He didn't let Kenma hold your child for awhile because he was scared he'd drop the baby :')

Very protective of your little one

He wanted the baby's first word to be "Volleyball" but it was "da da" which still made him very happy

Bo is very proud of the baby you two have created so I'm 100% sure he takes a bunch of himself with the baby to post on his social media

He was low key scared to fuck up, his father was not a very good father so he was scared to be the same way his father was.

After awhile you finally convinced him to have physical contact with the baby "The baby.. i-is smiling at me?" You giggle at him, "of course they're smiling at you. They love their daddy of course."

After he finally started being around the baby, you literally could not tear him away from that child.

Some days he'd take the baby to practice, to the grocery store, everywhere.

You had to pry the child from his arms most days. "Rin, give the baby here.." He looked at you like you just told him to give away his prized possession. "Hell no." You sighed. "Rin you have to go to work!" He shrugged his shoulders, "the baby can come with me, Komori enjoys taking pics of them during practice." Jeez.. this man truly is something.

Overall he was scared for nothing. He was a great father ;)

Somehow he convinced you to have another one... (weren't you the same one who didn't hold your baby for months?) he wanted to make up for the few firsts that he missed

He asked "Are you sure it's mine?" (yeah... virtual slap rn)

He told you he wasn't ready and asked if you'd consider an abortion or adoption, it made you really sad but you realized Kenma wasn't ready

It really hurt him to hear you cry about giving up your child which made him wanna try for you

Did not know how to hold the baby for the life of him "Umm.. am I like- holding it right..?" You burst into laughter at the sight. "Ken, you gotta support their head." He looked down at his baby. "Oh..."

He decided that he needed to do research before he ventured further down the path of fatherhood.

Kenma was confused with diapers. "You... you want me to change its diaper?" You scoffed at him handing him a fresh diaper. "Our baby is not an 'it' Kenma!" He groaned as he took the diaper from you. "Why can't you change it?" You rolled your eyes as if it was obvious. "Because I won't always be there to do it myself, duh."

You were out with a friend one day which meant Kenma was on babysitting duty, he was tempted to call Kuro to come watch his child but he'd say something like, "Kenma, it's your responsibility as a father, blah blah blah.." So he and the baby just kind of sat there staring at each other. "What do you wanna do?" He asked the baby, knowing they can't talk. The baby proceeded to poke Kenma's cheek and yell out, "DA DA DA DA." Kenma thought it was cute and laughed softly. "Yep, that's me." The baby repeated saying 'da' for awhile until they tired themselves out. "You're a lot like me." That day it clicked, he finally understood what it was to be a father

He wasn't very affectionate but he tried to show his baby that he cared the best way he knew how

You saw the changes and it made you happy

You caught him cuddling the baby once, when you accused him of being affectionate he rolled his eyes half awake and said, "M'not being affectionate! Go awayyyy."

Doesn't want to admit to being soft for his baby :)

"so there's someone i like," kenma speaks and from a distance— literally from the other corner of his room— you can hear an exaggerated sigh escape kuroo's lips.

he flips his book close, eyes shut as he exhales deeply with patience running down visibly from his face. "oh god, not again,"

"shut up," kenma retorts, there's a soft blush on his cheeks, a menacing glow in kuroo's eyes, a surprised grimace on your face. they make a good tale to tell. "anyway, there's someone i like and i don't know what to do about it,"

"usually, people confess, instead of being an idiot," the captain says it as a matter of fact, more of an advice although, it sounds like a heavy remark directed to his friend.

on other days, kuroo would gladly drop all his businesses and be at one to offer some love advice to his friend. however, today, or probably from the past few months, he would rather be busy sweeping the gym floors than help his friend, and the reason his simple— it's exhausting.

"tetsu, if you can't say something nice then consider keeping your mouth close," the above addressed man mimics your words with a dramatic expression, making you roll your eyes at his actions. honestly, you couldn't be bothered, you have better things to worry about. "yes, kenma, what about your crush?"

"i don't know," kenma shrugs.

"okay," you nod, pretending to think of some life-saving love life questionnaire to help him reach a conclusion. "are they a complete stranger or someone you know already?"

"we've been friends since middle school," in a distance, you hear kuroo sighs again. he has picked up his book yet again, snickering every once a while, mumbling under his breath. you're aware he hasn't turned a single page in past then minutes for someone who's a fast reader, and you know he's doing anything but reading.

"oh my god, that's cute," you revert your focus back at kenma, a smile that doesn't seem to leave your lips even though your heart feels heavy. "so, when did you become aware of your feelings?"

"three years ago," he replies, a hint of hesitation in his voice and if he's scared of disclosing a precious secret. "almost a few months after we met,"

"people get married and have two kids in three years, kenma," another comment from kuroo, another sigh from kenma that makes him look like a ticking time bomb. you wouldn't care about it, but usually, kenma isn't someone so restless. he isn't someone to dig nails into his fist, to tap his foot on the floor relentlessly, to stutter between words, or to get too lost between his own thoughts. kenma, normally, is a straight forward guy with a simple goal— playing genshin and enjoying everyday drama on genshin twitter.

but he is different today. "i will kill him if he doesn't shut up,"

"do you think they reciprocate?" you ask another question in an attempt to divert his attention for kuroo, the one who wasn't invited to the afternoon friend group therapy show at kenma's ( the group as in your and kenma, who cry about science and alhaitham ) kuroo wasn't even supposed to be in the city. he should've been in osaka at his aunt's for someone's wedding, being the centre of attention because the 'ladies' love him for being so well-mannered and talented.

"i don't know, i hope they do," kenma takes a pause, as if he's uncertain of his words, and you can't do anything because one can never be too sure of how someone else feels. "i can't remember the last time we spend a day without each other. we have movie nights almost every weekend, share the deepest of secrets, i can name a lot of such things. i think we're more than friends, not sure of what we are, but i don't want to be just friends, so yeah, i really hope they feel the same,"

now, you'd be lying if you say that his explanation doesn't sound familiar, but again you don't want to make assumptions. maybe, it's hanae from, his classmate. you met her once in middle school through kenma since they were assigned as project partners for history. it could be anyone, someone from other school, anyone who went to the same middle school as the two of you. considering how perfect kenma is, you aren't possibly the only one to harbour feelings for him.

"y'know, i'd love to meet this person," there's a hint of dejection evident in your voice. perhaps, his descriptions about his crush gave you a slight idea of how kenma loves, and how his feelings aren't reciprocated towards you. you could grab your stuff and leave, but liking someone, in your eyes, has always been about giving into their happiness, no matter how much it hurts you in return.

"trust me, you know them already," kuroo strikes again and this time, you're kind of glad because one, it makes you feel better, dragging your mind out of whatever depressing pool of thought it was drowning into, and two, you couldn't wait to know to who kenma's crush is.

kenma snickers. "how about you focus on chemistry?"

"c'mon, kenma, tell me their name?"

"it's a secret,"

"no it's not, he's just scared," kuroo retorts.

"kuroo, i will tell miss nakamoto how you were the one who added that chunk of sodium in water and almost set the whole lab on fire," you could physically feel kenma plotting some really villainous move in his head, which probably also includes having kuroo benched for around three days. and the best part is, kenma doesn't need make an excuse because you know kuroo has done shit that could get him benched, if someone snitched on him, that is.

"ignore him," you say bitterly, but it's more of an attempt to get kenma's attention back to you. "anyway, give me some hints if you can't tell me the name,"

"um, they're pretty," you thank him in your head for giving you such useful information that you feel like you can track them down from several miles away. "we go to the same school and, are even in the same club. they always attend our matches and used to be in the student council before quitting this year,"

silence conquers the room as you take a moment to think. now, it does sound too familiar to be a coincidence, but again, you don't want to make assumptions. like, you're not stupid enough to think he's talking about you and jump to conclusions, ultimately making a fool of yourself. on the other hand, you can practically feel kuroo looking towards you with hopeful eyes, and you don't know the reason why.

you nod just before kenma was about to panic out of nervousness. "okay, i think i have some candidates,"

"must be nice being this stupid," now, you're sure you would aid kenma in killing kuroo. you can be the one to dispose the body, or his lawyer who will defend him— kenma apologist, to be exact— one to help him flee the country just when japan's police force will be out for him. perhaps, that's one way to stay next to kenma. if not lovers, then partners in crime.

it strikes you that you don't know what you're thinking, but it's doesn't make any sense.

"will be nicer if you just shut your goddamn mouth up," kenma hisses under this breath, and you think he looks like an angry cat, which is cute, but that's for another day. he turns to look at you to pleading eyes, almost as if he's begging you to spare his life. "just let it be, i'll tell you when the time comes,"

"and by that time, your crush will be married and have three kids while expecting one more," kenma is seeing red, you bet. perhaps, the volleyball team will lose a player today, and you can't do anything because sometimes, kuroo literally asks for it. it amuses you how he's one of the smartest students in school and yet so dumb, it makes you feel better about yourself.

"kuroo plea—"

kuroo interjects before kenma could even complete his sentence. "no, kenma, you both are making my head hurt,"

"now what is so stressful to you about kenma having a crush?" you

"that, he's dropping so many hints but someone has to be fucking blind," another series of silence, kuroo feels hopeful again. maybe this time, you would get the hint, and actually, you got the hint, you know it could be you but also, you're confident it's not you. not that you don't feel confident about yourself, but actually, it's because kenma has barely shown any interest in you, apart from everything that he has mentioned earlier.

you look at kuroo, and then at kenma, who's busy avoiding eye contact and fiddling with the hem of his shirt. you know he's probably trying to come up with more excuses and more ways to end kuroo. or perhaps, he's just nervous because you'd be the second person to know about his crush, next to kuroo. you could be wrong, so you leave your thoughts at that. "so, who is the crush?"

"the heck, yn, it's you !" and since then, kuroo has been skipping school for three days now because of the ( big ) red swelling on his forehead thanks to the notebook kenma projected at him.

furudate uses a bird-person as his avatar because "i like birds and apparently i remind some people of a bird"

Q: What was the idea behind the recent bonus chapter? A: I wanted to include how nekoma realized it was useless to dive after that ball but they simply couldn't help it in the main manga—but it ruined the flow a little, so i took it out, and then I wanted to include it here.

HJKSDFGBJKSFD LMAAAAO during furudate's research process he took pics of the players and the seated fans during the match and received suspicious looks for it. and ended that question with "I'm sorry for acting suspiciously" and that's that!!! if you have any pets that require tanks (fish, bugs, reptiles, amphibians etc) he’ll subtly ask to come over so he can check them out

You have been with Kenma for almost a year now, and every day has been amazing. He’s definitely changed your view of relationships, that’s for sure. You were saving up money for a new game he was into that was coming out soon, just in time for your anniversary. As you walked into the cafe, checking how much money you still needed for the game, something felt wrong. You looked up and around, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary so far. You made your way to the staff room, changed into your uniform, and headed to the front of the store, changing the sign from closed to open. You carefully make your way through the purrs and meows to the register, but you still can’t shake this weird feeling. You take a few steps from behind the register, looking around at the cafe. It clicks in your head that you don’t know where Yui is, and you quickly and carefully look around the cafe, searching in all her usual spots. You begin calling Yui, even shaking a box of treats, which only attracts the other cats. As you slowly begin to panic, Hina walks in, and you make your way to her. “Hey Hina? Have you seen Yui? I can’t find her anywhere.” You furrowed your brows, looking at your friend.

“Yui? Oh…Y/N she was adopted yesterday.” Hina looked heartbroken, like she didn’t want to tell you this.

Your heart dropped into your stomach, and your bottom lip quivered slightly. A shaky smile spread across your face. Oh, that’s good; I’m happy for her.” You started walking to the staff room, breaking down as soon as you shut the door. After crying for what felt like hours, you dried your tears and stood up, grabbing your water bottle and taking a swig of water. You calmed your breathing and changed out of your uniform, throwing your hood up and walking out of the building, keeping your head low. You stuck an earbud in and played your music, finding a sad playlist to listen to while you walked to Kenma’s apartment, wishing that it was raining to represent your feelings. You opened his door, upset with the events of the day. You always told yourself that you didn't care if she got adopted, but that wasn't true; you did care, and you really wanted her. You dropped your work bag near the door, just as you shut it with your foot. You looked up to see Kenma's head pop out of his bedroom, concern written on his face. "What's wrong, Y/N?" He frowned but didn't make any movement to come closer to you or out of his room.

You sighed and took off your jacket. "Yui was adopted today." Your bottom lip quivers slightly. "I really wanted her as my own, and I was stupid to think she wouldn't be adopted. She's just so perfect." You made your way closer to Kenma just as he shifted out of the door, a small Calico cat in his arms.

"Would it make you feel better if I was the one who adopted her?" A small smile graced his features just as your jaw dropped.

"You didn't."

"I did; I saw how sad you looked every day that you couldn't keep her, and then we started dating, so I decided that I would adopt her so you could see her all the time, and I'd be caring for her so you wouldn't be stressed about caring for her, school, and work." Your bottom lip began quivering again as you ran over and embraced Kenma, burying your face in his shoulder and muttering, Thank you. When you finished crying tears of joy (which you denied even happened), you plucked Yui from his arms and peppered kisses all over her fur before turning to look at Kenma with a wide smile on your face.

getting up from his gaming chair, he sighs as he looks at the time 1:28am. you've been married to kenma for almost two years but have been living together for four years, you're used to this and you've always supported kenma and his career but you've also been very concerned at how much time he spends staying up

kenma opens the door and makes his way to the bedroom, careful not to bump into something since the lights are off. once he navigates himself through the dark and to your bedroom, he hears very loud cries coming from the bedroom beside yours

and the source of those cries are from no other than the beautiful baby girl you had with kenma 3 months ago. kenma makes his way towards the bawls of your baby from her room and turns on the light, he goes towards her crib and is met with her tear-stricken face

kenma decides to just take her to his gaming room instead. the update seems to be finished so he decided to open the game, some good old fashioned minecraft. he starts making a house and puts flowers around it, much to his daughter's delight

she starts to giggle again and makes grabby hands towards the mouse, kenma taking it as a notion that she wants to play with him

it's cute, he thinks, but she can't really play video games with her. though he does hope that once she is old enough she will also take up an interest in video games and want to play and be like her dad. but for now, the most she can do is watch him mine for diamonds or shoot arrows at mobs

and that's totally fine with him, after all, he gets to spend time with his baby girl anyways

I am a firm believer that Swagger is someone very in tune with others

He tries his best to match the vibe of the room and offers jokes when the comedic timing is right

He likes making others comfortable in his presence and hates when others are uncomfortable

So when it comes to you, he puts his 110% into it

He wants to be the person you turn to for literally anything, even before you two get together

Swagger wants to be seen as reliable and grounded by you

Swagger cares a lot about you, he truly does

That's why he does a ton of research when it comes to what you like and what your interests are when he confesses

He wants to be as genuine as possible

Even if that means being more vulnerable than he's normally comfortable with

His ideal confession is simply asking you on a date first

He wants to leave it as casual as possible, like lunch at your favorite brunch place

You both are dressed casually and comfortable

Swagger probably had to smoke a little to calm his nerves down because he was shaking a little

The Misfits probably had to give him a pep talk (they were all worried that he'd cancel plans if he was too anxious)

Let's be honest, Swagger probably had a sticky note or a piece of paper that had bullet points for what he wanted to roughly say (and yes, it was in his pocket just in case he forgot)

When you two got there, Swagger tried his best to act like a gentleman

He wanted to charm you and prove (mainly to himself) that he can be the perfect man for you

When your food arrives, he makes light conversation

It's mainly Swagger listening to you talk

He has this goofy smile on his face when he watches you, he looks at you like you're the only thing that matters

And in a way, you are

You mean so much to him, too much

Then he clears his throat, ready to confess

He metaphorically spills his guts to you

Swagger tells you EVERYTHING

How you make him feel, how much he cares, how he truly wants to make you happy, how YOU make him happy

It's honestly a bit of a tear-jerker

He's about to cry, you're about to cry, those at tables around you are about to cry
