Hi, can you tell me everything I need to know about KISS?
I really want to get into this fandom and asking people on Tumblr is more fun that reading a wikipedia article
thx🥰
Welcome to KISSblr! This is going to be fun, and tricky, how do I compress 50 years of magic into one post.
KISS were formed in early 1973 by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, they found Peter Criss and Ace Frehley through ads. Through 73 they played local gigs, perfected the makeup and released album 1 in February 1974. Two albums a year for the next 4 years and nonstop touring took its toll on the poor boys, Peter and Ace fell victim to the rock star party drugs alcohol thing, Peter left in 1980, Ace in 1982. Peter was replaced by the sweet precious Eric Carr, Ace by Vinnie Vincent then Mark St John (no one talks about him btw) the finally by Bruce Kulick. I don't care what anyone says, this point was peak KISS. They took the makeup off in 1983 and kept on with making awesome music and amazing live shows, right up to the most tragic moment in KISStory, November 1991 when Eric Carr sadly passed away after a battle with cancer. The boys bravely kept going, bringing in KISS's first blonde member, Eric Singer and continued into the 90s the same way they had for their entire career, making awesome music. 1996 saw them decide to reunite with Ace and Peter, that lasted until 2002 when unfortunately KISStory repeated itself. Eric Singer came back and although I would have loved for Bruce to come back as well, they brought Tommy Thayer in to replace Ace, and he proved a worthy addition to KISStory, this was the lineup through to now.
Lineup:
Paul Staney, guitar, vocals (1973 +)

My first thought when I noticed that Kate Bush was on this was, 'HOLY. SHIT. BIG COUNTRY AND KATE BUSH?! TOGETHER ON THE SAME TRACK? OH MY GOD.' And then I heard it...and heard it again...and again...and again...sometimes on repeat, sometimes just as part of the album (on a playlist of Big Country songs I like)...and I realized increasingly that, while the lyrics aren't the most impressive, the MUSIC. OH, MY GOD, THE MUSIC. IT IS SO GOOD. And I got annoyed after reading a critique of this song and someone mentioned (quoting a review) Kate's recognizable "warbling" on this song (I didn't read that descriptor positively) and I'm not sure if that made me actively listen to this song more and decide to listen to it deeper, but Kate's voice sounds mysterious and ethereal on this song WHICH, GIVEN THE CONTEXT OF THE SONG, I'M SURE WAS PURPOSEFUL, SO HI HELLO JOB WELL DONE, KATE!?! YEAH! FUCKING YEAH, GO, KATE ON THIS SONG! This might also be for another post but I also read an interview with the band who all called Kate a genius but said that when the album was remixed by some record label asshole who didn't like their producer, Robin Millar's, mix, the band were horrified to hear the new mix that was released and that Kate's vocals had been "dumbed down." Literally, Bruce Watson said that. HAHAHA BUT SEXISM IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY ISN'T REAL!?! I so, so deeply appreciate that the band acknowledged that, btw. Gives them much integrity. But back to the fact that it's a Big Country song...and to comment a bit more on it musically, I just want to throw out there that Stuart Adamson's voice on this song is motherfucking ON POINT - GORGEOUS. His vocals on this album as a whole, actually, are stunning. Furthermore, musically (rhythmically, stylistically, etc.) this song is celtic rock magnificence, as far as I'm concerned, even though to be totally honest I've listened to very little celtic music in general or celtic rock specifically in my time so far, but I'll be damned if Big Country don't make me want to seek it out and listen to more of it!! (And I mean...besides Big Country. Because honestly, one of my favorite parts about having favorite bands and artists is discovering what kind of music they like that influenced them to make the kind of music that they do, and I can say with confidence that Big Country is newly one of my favorite bands and I will be discovering what music influenced them and giving it a listen!) So, my opinion equaling that of a grain of salt besides, I think this track and this album in general is an absolute success. I LOVE IT!

Anonymous asked: 13. Kiss on the Ear
It’s not that Santana’s scared or anything. It’s just that the Cheerios camp the last week of summer starts in a couple days, which means Santana’s quickly realizing that she’s going to have to extract herself from the bubble of summertime happiness to face the real world. But she’s not scared; her and Brittany have been able to hide the fact that they’ve been more than friends since sophomore year so far, and she doesn’t see how that will change in the coming year.
(Of course, that was before. Before Santana accepted herself, before all the pain of junior year, before Brittany broke her heart, before she broke Brittany’s, before they admitted that this thing between them means something.)
(In reality, she’s actually terrified of going back to school, but she’d never admit that to anyone; not even to Brittany, which is mostly because the possibility of being with Brittany openly is part of the reason she’s so terrified.)
But Santana’s not scared, she just has a couple reservations about their senior year, like how they’re going to act, or if they’re going to come out, or what they even are to each other, exactly. Just a couple small itty-bitty concerns about what they’re going to do and what this all means.
Of course, Brittany already knows about the reservations (and about the truth of Santana’s fear), because she knows Santana better than Santana knows herself half the time, which would be a little weird if it wasn’t so comforting. So Santana really shouldn’t be surprised when Brittany turns wise, knowing eyes on her while they’re busy doing dishes, alone in the Lopez house.
“What?” Santana mutters a little defensively, scrubbing a little harder than necessary at the casserole dish from the leftover lasagna that her mom made for supper.
“You’re nervous,” Brittany observes, drying one of their plates. “Or anxious. Or scared. Or something that’s making you all jumpy and snappy.”
“I’m not scared,” Santana says in a voice so certain that she almost believes herself.
Brittany smiles softly, meeting Santana’s gaze in the kitchen window’s reflection. “You don’t have to lie to me,” she murmurs, “You know I’m not going to, like, make fun of you or tell anyone or anything.”
Santana takes a deep breath because she’s trying to get better at this whole communication thing since it’s important to relationships—or whatever it is that they have now. Santana doesn’t want to make any assumptions because that hasn’t gotten her anywhere in the past, so she keeps quiet even if she suspects that they might, kind of be in a relationship or something, like, at least a little bit. “I’m not scared,” she insists even though she knows that Brittany knows she’s lying, “I’m just— Concerned. About, like, school.”
Brittany bumps their hips together after a quiet moment of washing and drying. “What exactly are you concerned about?”
Santana swallows and pauses in scrubbing a particularly stubborn piece of cheese on the dish. Brittany just waits patiently, both for the dish so she can dry it and for Santana’s answer. “I don’t really know how to, like, act around you,” Santana finally explains, “You know, when we’re in public or at camp or school or whatever.” Santana swallows thickly again as panic starts to choke her at the thought of the coming year. “I don’t want to go back to last year ever again but I also can’t— I’m not ready to— Because people will talk and I can’t handle— I mean—”
“Shh,” Brittany soothes, quickly drying her hands before tossing the towel to the side and snaking her arms around Santana’s stomach, molding herself to Santana’s back and gently rocking them back and forth.
Santana’s chest continues to close up, the lump in her throat growing even bigger. “I can’t— Britt, I can’t— Not yet— Not when—”
Brittany suddenly starts humming, low and sweet and familiar, and the sound of it is so unexpected that Santana sucks in a surprised breath, all her tangled thoughts slowing down until the lump in her throat starts to ease and she can breathe again. Brittany just keeps humming until Santana forces her muscles to relax a little bit, focusing on the vibration of Brittany’s soft voice in her ear.
“Now everyone dreams of a love lasting and true,” Brittany starts singing quietly, “But you and I know what this world can do. So let’s make our steps clear so the other may see.” Santana is smiling before she even realizes it, tipping her head back to rest on Brittany’s shoulder as she resumes humming in Santana’s ear. A lingering kiss is placed to the soft ridge of cartilage and Santana sighs, the panic already ebbed out of her body. “And I’ll wait for you. Should I fall behind. Wait for me.”
“My mom was listening to Bruce Springsteen the other day,” Brittany explains after a quiet moment of simply breathing together, waiting until Santana’s chest loosens and she relaxes fully into Brittany’s arms.
Santana smiles and turns her head a little to catch Brittany’s lips for a soft, sweet kiss. “Thank you,” she whispers.
Brittany just smiles and kisses her again before resting her chin on Santana’s shoulder. “We’ll figure it out,” she promises, kissing Santana’s ear again since it’s the closest to her lips, “Together.”
Santana nods and sinks further into Brittany’s embrace. She’s still a little nervous about the coming year—and more than a little terrified about the prospects of coming out in the coming year—but as long as Brittany’s there to hold her and help her through this part, she figures they’ll be just fine.

If you’re still taking prompts, I had a thought. What if JayTim get de-aged? I saw you did a similar one already so no worries if you don’t want to 😊. My thoughts for this were that they both get de-aged to like 5/6 years old and Jason gets super protective of Tim (cause he’s so tiny and cute), and they get to cause chaos in the cave but also get lots of snuggles with the fam before retiring to their correct ages.
Hi, sorry for the delay! Thank you for the cute prompt. This ended up being gen, not JayTim. Btw, in case you’re wondering what’s happening with your last remaining one (”keep you warm”): That one took a life of it’s own and is growing beyond a drabble. It’ll take me a while to finish, but yeah, it’s gonna be a fic, not a drabble.
Dick would like to say this isn’t what he expected when he was called into Wayne Manor to babysit his brothers. He would.
Honestly, though, finding two of his brothers de-aged back to being kindergarteners doesn’t even make the top-twenty list of ‘Weirdest things to happen on a Tuesday.’ So he takes it in stride when Bruce basically dumps the two on him (“I need to go find a cure. I can’t do that if they’re playing cowboy and dinosaur under my feet.”) and settles down on the living room floor to have a tea party. Alfred even joins them.
It’s fun.
Tim is so shy. It’s hard to connect this quiet kid with the teenager Dick first met all those years ago. With Jason, though, he gives as good as he gets, poking him in the side and telling him to sit straight and not spill any tea.
Jason, to Dick’s surprise, goes with it. He tells Tim facts about the books he’s starting to read; Tim tells Jason about the beeest superheroes, and it’s some of the most wholesome nerdy shit Dick has ever witnessed.
“I need to pee,” Jason eventually announces, hopping to his feet.
“Want me to come with you?” Dick isn’t really sure until what age kids need help with that sorta thing. And Jason is so small… but the kid scowls at him. “No! Weirdo.”
As his brother leaves the room, Dick thinks there’s something in his hand… cookies, maybe? He shrugs it off.
Alfred has a weird expression on his face when Dick turns back to him, though. Most people wouldn’t notice, but Dick knows his grandfather. “What’s troubling you, Alfred?”
“It’s nothing.” Alfred pauses. “I have found food hidden in several places, but I’m sure there is a rational explanation.”
“Oh, you weren’t supposed to find those!” Tim scowls.
They look at him. “Are they yours, then?” Dick asks gently.
“Jay said it’s really important that we have them. Just in case…” Tim trails off, uncertainty taking over his expression. “Was that wrong?”
“No!” Dick hastily assures him. Alfred adds: “I merely thought that I would provide you with more appropriate storage boxes.”
But Tim’s face scrunches up. “I didn’t mean to—“
“Hey!” Jason races back in through the door. He’s by Tim’s side faster than Dick can blink. “What happened?”
Tim hiccups, clearly trying not to cry. “I—I’m sorry—“
“It’s okay,” Jason says, glaring at Dick over his shoulder. Is this what Damian would’ve been like at that age? Cause Dick has a hard time imagining eyes any more lethal. “Wanna play some more hide-and-seek?”
Tim nods, but his gaze darts toward Dick for approval.
Dick sighs and figures that they can’t really get themselves into much trouble doing that. Alfred can keep an eye on them through the cameras, just in case. “Sure, have fun!”
“You’re not invited,” Jason tells him. And then they’re off, giggling, tension from two minutes ago forgotten.
“I’m Robin!” Dick hears Tim call, followed by “Then I’m Batman” in what is probably supposed to be an imitation of Bruce’s voice, except Jason is what, six(?), and his vocal cords very much do not go there.
Dick carries their tea party equipment into the kitchen and then settles down on the couch, keeping an ear out for the two miscreants while he reads. It’s pretty peaceful, and he can feel his sleep deficit catching up with him, eyes getting heavier and heavier.
Something pokes his side.
Dick pries his eyes open and sees Jason staring at him, unimpressed. “Tim needs more cuddles,” he declares.
Dick tries not to smile. “Does he?”
Jason nods, very seriously. “He likes them, and he does not get enough. I need to make sure he gets cuddles when I’m not here.”
Dick tries not to squee at the idea of Jason basically anointing himself as Tim’s Cuddler-in-Chief. “Well, I’m always down.”
For a moment, he’s examined by blue eyes. Then Jason nods, goes back to the door, and drags Tim in. “See? I told you it’s fine.”
Tim looks skeptical, so Dick makes a point of lifting the blanket he’s under invitingly. “C’mon, I need my cuddles.” He has now said or thought the word ‘cuddles’ more in one day than the last year combined.
It takes another gentle push from Jason, but Tim climbs in. He nestles trustingly against his side, head dropping onto Dick’s shoulder. Poor mite must really be tired.
Jason nods, seemingly satisfied, and turns around.
“Wait, are you leaving?” Dick asks.
“Why shouldn’t I?”
“‘Cause you should join us?” Are kids always this bewildering?
Jason looks back, visibly baffled. “Why? I’m too old.”
“You’re never too old for cuddles,” Dick tells him with the conviction of a grown man who regularly gets cuddles from his girlfriend and loves it.
Jason doesn’t seem convinced. “Sure you are.”
“Jay…” Tim murmurs, sleepy eyes peeking out from under the blanket, and that seems to do it. Jason climbs into the blanket nest with a scowl. He makes sure to stay on Tim’s other side, away from Dick.
Dick doesn’t mind. It’s warm and cozy in here, and less than ten minutes later, the kids out. They’re at the age where nap-time doesn’t come quite that naturally anymore, Dick thinks, but they must’ve exhausted themselves. Besides, who knew if Tim and Jason got any sleep in their adult bodies the night before.
Dick closes his eyes, listening to his brothers breathe. He could do with a nap himself.

What Kissing Tim Drake Would Be Like - Tim Drake Headcanons
recently I’ve been absolutely obsessed with the DC universe, specifically the Batman universe(s) and little Timmy boy over here has absolutely stolen my goddamn heart. so, uh, here’s a headcanon I wrote about him because I love him. thanks for reading! <3
Tim refuses to kiss you at first as he’s too nervous to do anything, he’s insecure and a little emotionally stunted, thanks Bruce, btw, and he doesn’t understand why you’re with him
It takes a lot a little bit of convincing for him to realize that you actually want to be with him and want to be affectionate with him
After that though, he slowly starts to become more and more affectionate to you.
In terms of kissing, it starts with him giving you simple pecks on everywhere except for your lips
Your cheek, forehead, hands, etc. but just not your fucking lips.
One day though, you’re visiting Tim at the mansion, and Alfred tells you he’s been awake for three days straight.
At that point, you’re trying to do anything to get him to sleep.
And sleep deprived Tim doesn’t really know what he’s saying.
So what ends up happening is you’re trying to persuade Tim to go to bed and he’s not really willing. This is how that conversation went.
“Tim you gotta go to bed baby, it's been three days”
“Let me just finish this one case, then I’ll go to bed”
“No, Tim you know you do better work when you’re fully rested. You can’t even think straight in this state.”
“What of course I’m thinking straight? I’m not gay. Unless you’re a guy, y/n. Which I’d totally be fine with btw, I’ll be with you no matter what.”
“Ugh, Tim.. what is it going to take for you to go to bed? I’ll literally do anything.”
“Anything? In that case, can I have a kiss?”
At this point you’ll do anything to get him in bed so you lean down and give him a kiss on the lips. It doesn’t last long though since you’re there not to make out with him but to get him to bed.
You walk backwards to his bed and he follows you, clearly wanting more. He doesn’t get it though cause as soon as his head hits the pillow he completely knocks out might write a oneshot about this
Ok anyways, on with the headcanon
So anyways, Tim slowly starts to become more comfortable with kissing you after that,
And god damn is he good
Tim is a smart guy and is very observant so whenever you guys are doing something, especially kissing and making out, he takes notes on what you respond to and how you respond
Oh boy he knows all your weak spots
He has somewhat thick lips so kissing him feels so nice
His eyes are closed, his hands on your waist, he’ll pull you as close to him as he can
He wants you to be as close to him as you can possibly be
He’s slightly taller so he’ll have to bend down just a bit
He tilts his head to the left ever so slightly, as you do to your right
Sometimes, you’ll tilt your head to the left to throw him off. You guys’ll bump noses or foreheads and giggle a bit before going back in to kiss again
He tastes sort of bitter, all that coffee for sure, but also hints of sweetness. He’s bittersweet in its most literal form
When things start to get heated, he has this habit of squeezing the dip in your waist from getting too excited
He really just wants you to have fun, be happy, and feel nice
He’ll kiss your neck and give you more hickies than you can count
When he hits your sweet spot and you moan ever so slightly? It’s absolutely adorable to him. The hottest and cutest thing he’s ever seen
The thing is, if you turn things on him and you’re the one giving him hickies?
The boy will not stay quiet
It’s just hours of
“God, y/n, please don’t stop”
Moaning, very loud moaning
“Ahh, Right there”
“Dick and them are going to hear us”
“Ahh.. Baby, please… more…”
He really just isn’t silent at all
He’s just so vocal
Definitely the most vocal out of the bat brothers
(Though Damian might come in as a close second but I’ll talk about that later)
When ya’ll aren’t making out like the world depends on it, he’ll give you random little pecks on different spots on your body, just as a small sign of how much he loves you
He loves and I mean LOVES kissing the palm of your hand
When you two holding hands he’ll bring yours up to his face and just kiss them is delicately and sweetly
Or when you’re holding his face in your hand he’ll grab your hand and hold it still as he turns and pecks your palm
Or even when you guys first see each other for a date or something, he’ll take your hand and kiss it like you're a princess. He’ll bend down and look up at you and you’re just a blushing mess and he loves it
It tingles a bit but once you get used to it you start loving it as much as he does
Soon you’re both doing it to each other
It just becomes a new way for y'all to express affection
Nothing beats really kissing tho
When he’s sleepy is when he gives the best kisses
There’s nothing holding him back as he’s so tired that no insecurities or worries of hurting you get to him
He just becomes a big ball of sweet romantic-ness
His kisses are just pure candy sweetness
You can really feel how much he adores and loves you with how passionate he is when ya’ll kiss
He just really really loves you
Whether he’s said it yet or not
Thanks for reading this yall :)

If I had to go with one I would have to say classic rock because it’s what I listen to most of, but I like other types of rock as well and some disco and some 80s pop 😅

Why? Well, because it just doesn’t get better than that

Who do you think has the best voice in batfam? How do they all sound like? Who has the best soprano voice and who has the jazzy baritone? Who has the customer service voice nailed? Spare voice headcanons please?
Alrighty, now this is my kinda ask!
(I’ll just apologize now for the length...)
I love the idea of a singing batfam, so here are my (long rambly) headcanons:
Bruce: As Batman, he sounds like a chain smoking grizzly bear gargling nails. But as Bruce Wayne, his voice actually isn’t bad. Singing-wise, he was one of those ‘prodigy’ children, growing up. Martha Wayne was best friends with a famous opera singer, so she insisted on teaching Bruce everything she knew about vocal performance. As a result, he has a beautifully rich baritone voice, and a pretty freaking incredible range. And as far as any member of the League or general public are concerned, Bruce/Batman doesn’t sing at all, so don’t ask. But with his family? Bruce has been known to crack a smile and sing a few lines on occasion. When he’s on his own? He lets loose. Sounds like Hugh Freaking Jackman.
Kate: Her voice is very clipped and to-the-point, which kind of fits with her personality. Could not carry a tune in a bucket, but that’s fine by her.
Dick: Dick sings second tenor. He didn’t sing much as a kid, coming from an acrobat family and all. But after Bruce took him in, Alfred took it upon himself to change that. He’s got a pretty great range, all things considered, and once Alfred got him hooked on singing, the boy does it nonstop. He’ll sing on patrols, he’ll sing as he fixes himself breakfast…basically anytime, anywhere. Songs off the radio, songs his friends introduce him to, that annoying jingle for a car commercial that’s this close to driving Tim insane? All fair game. Bruce once walked in on him while he was doing a dramatic rendition of Sia’s Chandelier–while literally swinging from the manor’s crystal chandelier. (Musicals are probably his favorites to do, though, btw.)
Jason: This boy has a deep voice. Definitely a bass. When he talks, it’s a little raspy, but not in a bad way, and he’s also got a bit of a Bowery accent. It especially comes through when he’s tired or ticked off. When he sings, though, he can go higher, all the way up to baritone if he wants. But while he’s been known to sing soulful, heartfelt pieces when he thinks no one’s watching, his true passion is for rap music. On Gotham’s streets, it’s pretty common for street kids to have impromptu rap battles, and you’d best believe Jay could hold his own.
Tim: Let’s face it. His parents were the kind of folks who signed their kid up for every activity under the sun. Soccer, Lacrosse, Underwater Basket Weaving, you name it. Why not vocal lessons? And Tim, ever the perfectionist, worked at his voice until he was satisfied with his own ability. His voice is higher than his brothers’; he sings first tenor, and can go up to second alto if he warms up enough. (I feel like he’d sound like Sam Tsui–check him out on Youtube!)  A few years back on patrol, he was a little too close to an explosion, and suffered a bit of hearing damage. So when he talks, Timmy’s just a little louder than everyone else, unless he works really hard to bring his volume down.
Barbara: As far as anyone else can tell, she’s never taken a voice lesson in her life, yet for whatever reason, this girl is just naturally gifted. (It frustrates the heck out of the others.) Her voice is a smooth alto. She almost never sings, though.
But being both the Oracle and a librarian in her off-time, she deals with dozens upon dozens of frustrated heroes and bookworms on the regular. Her customer-service voice is eerily on-point. So she either sounds pleasantly ‘eager to help’–or vaguely threatening. If she uses it on any of the Bats, they’re 110% more likely to do anything she asks. Especially Dick and Jason.
Stephanie: Huge musical theater kid growing up. When someone’s singing through the comms on patrols, if it’s not Dick, it’s definitely Steph. She’s a soprano, but has the best range out of anyone (aside from Bruce). Because of this, she’s always trying to imitate the others. To their surprise (and chagrin) she’s getting pretty good at it. So far, Steph has Tim, Damian, Cass, and Dick down to a T. She’s still working on the others, and someday hopes to achieve Bruce’s Bat Voice.
When she sings, she loves to initiate duets with her siblings. Tim and Jason will indulge her, more often than not. Sometimes Cass and Barbara will join in. Bruce has only caved once (and if asked, he will deny it). But Dick? He’s her go-to choice, since he’s DTS (down to sing) all day, every day. Once these two get going, they don’t stop until one of them loses their voice or the entire family shouts them down.
Cassandra: Cass has a very clear, soprano tone. It’s absolutely gorgeous, but she’s very shy and sensitive about her voice, and rarely sings. Whenever one of her siblings is injured and/or laid up in bed, though, she’ll softly sing them lullabies while they recover.
When she chooses to speak, Cass is very soft spoken, but has ways of making herself heard if need be.
Harper: She has a thick Jersey accent, and a no-nonsense tone of voice. No one has ever heard her sing, though. (She would not sing if someone put a gun against her head, tbh.)
Duke: Everyone figured he’d be into rap like Jason, since they came from roughly the same part of Gotham, but Duke’s true passion is jazz. His dad was in a jazz group, and Duke inherited his father’s smooth jazzy baritone. Low-key, he has the best voice out of all of them, and he’s super passionate, since music was a huge deal to his biological family. He loves singing during quiet nights in the cave, or on patrol. He’s gotten the most standing ovations from random cops and citizens, and even the mayor asked him to perform for a charity event once. (An offer Duke respectfully declined.) Out of all the others, he was voted ‘Most Likely to Burst Into Brooding Song On A Rooftop Somewhere’. Bruce is so proud.
Damian: Everyone hoped he’d inherit his father’s golden vocal chords, but for now, he seems to have taken after his Aunt Kate. This frustrates Damian to no end, and for a long time, he hated listening to any of his siblings sing, knowing full well that he couldn’t join them. After months of watching the kid shrink away from anything musical, Jason had enough. He sat the youngest Robin down and taught him an art form he’d picked up from the streets of the Gotham City Narrows: beatboxing. At first, Damian thought it was crass and inelegant, but he eventually got into it. Now? He’s very good at it. The kid has mad skills, and more often than not, his siblings’ll ask him to back them up during rap battles or musical numbers. Maybe he’ll grow into his voice someday, but for now, he’s totally fine with just ‘dropping a beat’ for the others.
Alfred: Has a very thick cockney accent, but can mimic just about any other British accent whenever the fancy strikes him. Like every other aspect of the butler’s life, his singing career is an enigma. The others have heard him sing before, and he’s actually pretty good. But sometimes, random people will come up to him on the street, gushing and screaming his name while they beg for an autograph. There’s a running bet amongst the batkids as to what that’s all about, but so far? It’s anyone’s guess.
Headcanons are my favs, guys, so feel free to ask!

Animal blood au
Right so i gotta write this shit down bc I’ve had it stuck in my head for a while and I tried to write it down but I wasn’t quite sure how so imma vomit all my ideas down here, hope u enjoy.
So basically its a world where there are normal humans, as u do, and there are animals, but then there is a third race which share traits from both. I don’t have anymore of a creative name atm than ‘animal bloods’ but this shit is a work in progress.
So like, this third race has both animal and human characteristics and how they are treated varies depending on the place. They’re mostly human, only born to either animal blood parents or human parents as the transformation is caused by a faulty gene in their dna, so they’re conscious of their actions and are able to control themselves.
(Though it is possible for them to go ‘feral’)
However, their treatment in most first world countries are negative as people start to panic what these animal bloods can do. They have control over their own powers, but does that make them worse? Who’s stopping them from transforming in a bank? In a school? What’s stopping them from using their unharnessed powers for good?
Unlike in Wakanda, where their royal family consistently consisted on a black panther blood line, America has a different policy. They put these animal bloods in special facilities, if they’re lucky, where they’re treated like they’re things to be gawked at and are barely given any room to be either animal or human.
These creatures have barely any laws to protect them, other than that the government can’t kill them and must provide them with some sort of environment. They don’t count under human rights or animal rights either. They’re treated as subhuman.
These creatures can be kept by their parents, if they’re human, until they’re legally an adult – then they’re taken away to one of the facilities – or if the parents choice so they can be taken away at birth. Parents also have the option to terminate the pregnancy, no matter how late, if they have evidence of the animal blood, and (Though it’s no longer legal) used to be able to act the doctor to kill the child once it was born.
So like that’s the background, here is the characters (which are all canine or feline btw):
Tony: Tony is a tiger blood (yeah, Tony the Tiger, sue me) and he was born to two human parents. They kept him and raised him, ignoring his deformities and locking him away when he turned, and hoped that the laws may have changed enough that he’d be his own person by the time he was eighteen. The same day he learned about their death at 17 was the same day he was taken to live at the facility. In fact, it was the same hour. He’s lived there since then, watching animal bloods come and go as the only person that was still there from day one was his best friend, his now only friend, James Rhodes. Tony’s markings included an orange colouring on his tan skin that stretched from the top of his neck, back of his forearms, down his back, and behind his legs, them all marked with tiger stripes. Some of the strips also stretched to his lower jaw. He also had pointed teeth, as most canine and feline bloods did, and his nails grew in sharper.
Rhodey: Rhodey is a black jaguar blood. He’s been in that facility only a few months longer than Tony had and had comforted the teenager when he’d arrived since he was older and was more used to facilities. He took care of him, protected him from the humans, made sure he ate, and helped him become confident in the animal form he’d been suppressing his whole life. He’d defend his best friend to his last breath. His markings were simple dark spots that peppered his arms, legs, back, and stomach, barely visible against his dark skin unless you focused, and had the same teeth and nails as his friend.
Steve: Steve is a lion blood, but not even that, he’s a white lion blood. One of the rarer animal bloods out there. He was thrown in whilst in his thirties and was rather vocal in his hatred as he revealed that he’d never been in a facility before, despite his age. This definitely made him a hero among the kids and with some of the adults too. Steve had made his own pack with friends and managed to lay low for years, helping other animal bloods in need, but only two of them were captured, him and his friend Bucky, a wolf blood that was put into the canine habitat. He had no marking, just skin a little paler than it could be and thick blonde hair as well as a beard to accompany it, giving him almost a mane even when he wasn’t sulking around in his lion form. He also had the same teeth and nails.
The rest imma go in less detail for because I haven’t completely thought them through yet
Bucky: A wolf blood. Appearance is a black fairly intimidating wolf, contrasts his best friend wildly. Doesn’t talk too much and transforms into human form rarely.
Peter and Aunt May: both wolf bloods, dark brown in colour. Peter is only seven and has never See life outside in the facility, May adopted him when he came in as basically a new born infant.
Miles: Black jaguar blood, like Rhodey. Is five and has taken to Rhodey and Tony like a fish takes to water, referring to them both as their uncles. They’re unsure what happened to his actual family. Has same marks as Rhodey.
Scott: a wolf blood. Has more of a reddish coat despite his dark coloured hair. Very excitable despite the circumstances. He also managed to avoid the facility for most of his life, and even had a daughter at one point before he was taken away. His ex-wife, their daughter, and new husband do come to see hi once a month, even if it’s through zoo like bars.
Hope: Coyote blood. Daughter of hank and was born in captivity. Doesn’t socialise too much but Scott doesn’t leave her alone. Admittedly, she does like to hear him tell her about the outside world.
Hank: Coyote blood. Lost his mate after Hope was born due to the workers separating them to as they didn’t want any more breeding between them. They left Hope to stay with her father and, though heartbroken, he did his best to keep her and look after her.
Pepper: Red fox blood. Certain in herself and, though small, isn’t to be messed with. Hangs out with Tony and Rhodey in the outdoor incloser and protective of her friends.
Bruce: Euroasian lynx blood. Pretty shy and prefers solitude to company and can get snappy if you come into his part of the enclosure without permission. Tony helped him adjust to the facility and sometimes the two spend time with each other chilling outside, though there isn’t a lot of talking. He has dark spots that peppers his light skin.
There is probably more but that’s all for right now. You guys interested? Might make it A/B/O dynamics too but I’m not quite sure yet. If you are, I’ll try to write something. And it’ll probably be stony.
But, if you like it, anyone has permission to use this au! Give me credit and tag me/message me because I’d love to see/read what you guys so. Thanks!

Are You Okay?!
Hey!! Cute fluffy angsty imagine idea where Steve Rogers is on a mission to enter a Hydra building and knock out EVERYONE inside. He stumbles upon a girl scared as hell, a prisoner being experimented on by Hydra, chained up and bloodied, his heart breaks and he just can't hurt her. He helps her. takes care of her and heals her back at the tower! Btw I love your blog xx <3
A/N: Well I love You!!!!! Thank you for the request my love! @dreamsandtropics. I am soo sorry this took so long to get to you!!
Tumblr media
Steve sits silently around the table as he awaits for Tony to finally come walking through the door. He sways back and forth before standing up and moving smoothly towards the window.
“Hello Tony…” He mumbles as he slowly turns to face him.
“You know the mission. Only you. Everyone in, needs to be taken out.” Tony says as he sits down near him. He moves forward, lifting a glass and a bottle of some kind of alcohol. He pours his preferred amount before making eye contact with Steve. And just as fast as it was in the glass, it was down his throat. The warmth wrapping around his vocal chords.
“I have a weird feeling about this one…” Steve mumbles as he watches Tony. Tony sighs before looking down at his glass.
“You’ll be fine. We will be off radar but a call away.” Tony explains as he gets up and places a hand on Steve’s shoulder.
“I know. I best be off.” He whispers as he locks eyes with Tony. Tony nods his head and pats his back before walking over to the window.
“Be safe.” He says over his shoulder as Steve makes his way towards the door. Steve turns slightly to look at Tony’s back.
Steve leaped out of the jet and flew silently down to the massive building below him. He lands with an effortless thud and sighs. He presses the ear piece a little further into ear as he mumbles silently to the person on the other end.
“Tony. It’s silent…” He mumbles as he moves swiftly across the floor of the roof.
“Not for long. In coming up the stairs.’ Tony replies back. Steve gets into position and before any of the men see it coming. Necks snapped, legs broken, and a small stream of blood rolling down Steve’s chin. He wipes it away swiftly before opening the door and taking off.
Moving through every level of the building, taking out whoever came in contact. Thank god this was a smaller one of the Hydra buildings. Steve huffs out as he takes a small break in the last hallway before glancing up at the last door awaiting him. He closes his eyes as he wipes his brows. He lifts his leg and in swift kick, the door goes flying. But instead of being greeted with gun shoots, it was a high pitched scream.
“Please! I didn’t mean it!” A women cries out as she hurries to the corner, hiding in the dark. Steve stands, breathing in and out heavily before reaching out a hand slowly.
“Hey! I am not here to hurt you.” Steve says as he lowers himself to his knees to get closer to the women’s level. Her breathing starts to slow down once she looks into his eyes. Wrapped in warmth and honesty. She slowly reached out her bloody hand to his gloved one. “There you go.”
“I’m so sorry…” She mumbles as Steve inches a little closer. His eyes finally adjusting to the poorly light room. And the sight he fixed on was one that just broke his heart. This young women, scared and bloody. Shivering from the cold floors and lack of clothing. Chained to the wall like she was some kind of animal.
“You have nothing to apologize for little one.” Steve whispers as he examines her quickly. He looks over the chain and grips it in his hands. “Here. It won’t hurt but will be a scary snap sound. So i am warning you now.” She nods her head as grips the metal tightly between his fingers. In one swift motion, the metal snaps and frees her ankle.
“Thank you.” She says as the tears stream down her face. She was free. The first time in months, maybe even years since Hydra kidnapped her. She lost track as the weeks blurred. As the treatments, torture sessions, and cold nights mixed together. Steve wipes her tears away before smiling softly, cupping her face.
“You are safe now. What is your name?” Steve says.
“Y/N.” She mumbles softly. He wraps his arm under her legs and around her shoulders. He lifts her slowly as she wraps her arms tightly around him. Something about him brought peace to her mind. Maybe it was his eyes, or the way he was with words. Or his warm, loving arms wrapped around her. She wasn’t sure, but she did know that she was in fact finally safe. For the first time in a long time.
Once on the Jet, Steve laid her on the table and the medic team went to instant action. Steve standing only a few inches away, making sure to say ‘I’m Here’ or ‘I’ve got you little one.’ every so often. The words soon put her mind enough to peace that she fell asleep.
“Do we have anything on her? Records of any sort?” Steve mumbles to Clint as they stay near the front of the jet. Clint shakes his head.
“She’s got to be one of their newer ones. It is disgusting what they do to this people! She can’t be older than 21.”
“You should have seen her when i walked in. It was like a scene out of one of those SAW movies.” Clint looks up at Steve. “You know what i mean! It was disgusting to do things like that to a human! For God Sake, she was chained to the wall!”
“Well. She is safe now. And that is what matters the most. We are coming up in the tower now. Bruce and his team are waiting for her. Tony says he also wants to meet with you.” Steve sighs, taking a seat on the floor of the jet.
“You know i couldn’t just leave her there!!” Steve yells angrily as he storms past Tony. Tony enters the room after him. Tony takes a seat in his regular spot, pouring himself a drink. Steve moving to the window, trying to prepare himself for whatever attack Tony had against him. But nothing could prepare him for what Tony had to really say.
“I know. I wouldn’t have left her either. We are going to move her into the room next to yours. You were the one who saved her. It only seems right. She’s going to want to be with her hero for a little while. You’ll be the one to show her around. Help her. Train her. Bucky will help a little since he has to deal with Hydra before. And before you protest, he offered the moment he heard where she came from.” Tony explains before downing his drink. Steve wipes around and eyes Tony.
“So you are not mad?” He asks. Tony just shakes his head.
“Not one bit. After the way Clint described how you found her, my heart broke. After losing Peter…..” Tony cuts himself off before closing his eyes slowly. Trying to capture his tears. The thought still burning him each time he pictures Peter’s face before his just disappeared. “I can’t let horrible people do horrible things.”
Steve nods his head before walking closer and putting his hand on Tony’s shoulder. They stand silently before FRIDAY sounds on the speakers.
“Mr. Rogers. Doctor Banner is requesting your presents in the medic wing.” FRIDAY speaks out. Steve pats Tony’s shoulder before thanking FRIDAY and making his way to the wing.
“She is refusing our help. She claims she only wants the man who saved her to be with her.” Bruce explains as they walk back to her room.
“Y/N..” Steve mumbles as she reaches out for him. He wraps his arms around her and rubs her back softly. “You’re safe now. I’ve got you.” Her tears fall softly, soaking into his shirt. They stay like this as the room slowly clears out.
Few months later and Steve was softly knocking on Y/N door. Soft walking sounds before her door opens to reveal her smiling face. He leans down and wraps his arms around her body. She wraps her arms around the back of his neck as the wrap up in a sweet embrace.
“Ready for our run?” He asks as they pull away. She smiles and shut the door behind her.
“Race you to the elevator!” She calls, already pushing him back and taking off. Steve just smiles, his heart warming from the site of her. He may not have known at the time that she was gonna be someone special. But he sure knew that he was gonna keep her in his life forever.

so uh a lot of my pals have been wondering what the hell happened at The Struts show i went to on Tuesday lol [tl;dr Luke brought me on stage :^)]
just a normal Struts show i guess, nothing too crazy happened in the beginning, me and my pal had vip and got there early, we saw Luke beforehand and he was super sweet, talked to us about their 4:30am flight to get to town and how tired he was. and then he was locked out of the doors to the stage, poor boy.
i got to meet the band once we got in then and gave hugs and said hi, i’m still shocked when they tell me “good to see you again!, thanks for coming to see us again!, how have you been!?, etc.”, omg.
got barrier on Addo’s side of the stage, the opener Badflower were incredibleeee (so good i actually crashed at my friend’s house to see them again last night lmao but that’s a whole other story). The Struts’ show was just so good, they played a new tune called “Fire” that i really really like, plus i got to hear the new single “Body Talks” live for the first time!
tbh Luke didn’t look too well, he kept spitting an awful lot and had to stop to throw a towel over his head a few times, even the band members looked concerned. he did stop to apologize and explain to the audience what he told me and my friend before the show. but honestly his voice sounded totally fine and he was still doin’ all his badass dance moves!!
then i also got to hear them cover Bruce’s “Dancing in the Dark” for the first time, my friend freaked out because i kept it a surprise to her, knowing that Bruce is one of her favorites, it’s also my fave Bruce song too!! they started to slow down towards the end of the song and Luke brings up the fact that in the original music video, Bruce had pulled Courteney Cox up on stage to dance with him, and asked who wanted to be his Courteney Cox, tons of gals raised their hands (of course i did lol), but then my friend started pointing at me, my friend a few people down on the barricade started SCREAMING my name, Luke was scanning the audience but i noticed he kept glancing back at me so it was like.....oh shit, then he finally pointed to me and security came to pick me up over the barricade (just like a Steel Panther show, i was right at home lol) so i could go up on stage ahhhhhhhh!
so i went up and Luke asks me if i’d sing with him, i just said “i’ll try” lmao!!!! i can’t fuckin’ sing, but bless his heart he didn’t put the mic too close to my face most the time, we just did the usual “Luke sings some vocal exercise sounding things and the audience (and me ugh) repeats it back”. THEN WE GOT TO DO OUR OWN LITTLE CHEESY 80′s DANCE SIMILAR TO WHAT BRUCE AND COURTENEY DO IN THE VIDEO (for reference btw in case you don’t know what the hell i’m talking about)!! and then he just went back into like the last two choruses of the song or whatever that he just sang to me and i just. have a memory of Luke singing with his face less than a foot from my face and it’s just surreal. jesus. then after he finished the song he brought me to the front of the stage for a bow, then he put the mic back and grabbed my hand and pulled me back to the drum riser so we stood holding hands with our backs to the crowd, and we did a jump together to land on the last beat of the song, then he gave me a big hug!!! how wild. i left the stage and literally didn’t know where to go?? from previous experiences i assumed i’d just be released back into the GA crowd, but the security dude was like “i’ll take your back to your spot!!” (which my friend somehow miraculously saved??) and i had to go back around front, Luke had already started talking to the crowd again by the time i got there but the dude lifted me up and over and he stops what he’s saying like “y’know- ooh there she goes” and he did a little giggle!! and then says “don’t draw attention or ‘er!” and then something else i couldn’t understand with him mumbling in his British accent lmao. but gosh how unreal. it was funny because literally right before they went on i was complaining to my friend that this was my 15th time seeing them and i had yet to get any guitar pics or drumsticks, etc., like, i’m never gonna complain about that again!!! i thought Luke kissing/holding my hand at the end of my favorite song the second time i saw them would be the best Struts moment ever but boy was i wrong!!!
it was just so much fun and a shock and thankfully a) i’ve been on stage with Steel Panther four times before so i was somewhat used to it. somewhat. (also fun fact last month at a Struts show Michael Starr got to be the special guest to sing Dancing in the Dark with them too!!) b) The Struts are probably the only band i’m not nervous about meeting because i’ve just met them so many times so i wasn’t too shocked just by like, being so close to them ya know?? and also it was so funny because as i was walking out a bunch of people were high-fiving me and telling me what a great job i did and all and it was just too sweet!! walking back to our car me and my friend were talking about it and this 40-something year old couple in front of us overheard, the dude turned around and joked that he was pretty sure Luke almost picked him to go up, we talked to them a bit and they were very nice. and even their tour photographer contacted me to send me photos (i already posted some), friends of friends sent me photos, my best friend’s photographer bud told me he had “easily ten good photos of us” he’d send me once he edited them and just!! people are so sweet and the whole experience was so nice and i’m just so happy. i could barely go to sleep after because my face hurt so much from smiling. i still can’t stop smiling!!
so um yeah, go see the Struts in a town near you, they’re fun!!

AC #761 & Batman #39...
As a Clois fan, if somebody would've told me that we'd be discussing Immortal Beloved loooong after it was out (for different reasons, obviously), I'd be like "Nah...what do you mean?" But here we are.
Let's see: They get transported to another dimension/realm/planet, etc...(Action Comics #761 -left-, and Batman #39 -right-)
Tumblr media
They fight together against demons, monsters, whatever...
Tumblr media
Now...this is really important: BOTH, WIFE AND FIANCÉE ARE ALIVE ON EARTH. Doesn't matter if both guys are on Asgard, or another dimension. THEIR LOVERS ARE ALIVE!! Repeat after me: ALIVE!! Time doesn't work the same on Earth as it does in Asgard, or between dimensions. You can see that both comics even take the time to show Lois/Selina’s life on earth, at the same time Clark/Bruce is with WW...
Tumblr media
Then there's this:
Tumblr media
And finally, this (one mini-arc ends...the other...I guess #BatCat fans will have to wait -but this Clois fan thinks nothing happens. I have faith-):
Tumblr media
Don't give me that sh!t that Clark was dumb because he didn't take the chance to fuck Diana, that he was free because Lois was DEAD. If you're a Superman/Wonder Woman fan that WANTED THEM TOGETHER NO MATTER WHO or WHAT, don't make up those excuses to try to support your ship. It makes the female character you're supposed to "love", look bad.
Tumblr media
Most importantly don’t act like you’re offended by what you’re seeing in Batman #39, when you had no problem with other comics that did the same thing pre and post crisis (with Supes and Wondy). Actually, I recall some of you posting, liking imgs from those issues, and using them out of context for your benefit...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SMWW fan...where was your love for Wonder Woman then? Or any potential complaint is gone...because she was with Superman and nothing else matters? Because guess what? These kind of stories in the comics have been going for quite some time, but you seem to celebrate them.
Why victimizing your fandom and blame others if you've seen this happening before? Why only after Batman #39 came out, you dared to speak and be "outraged" on Diana's behalf? Is it because now Bruce is in Clark's place and that doesn't suit your pairing? Where is Steve Trevor? What about Selina, no empathy for her? Why according to you, is Clark stupid if he remains faithful to his wife -who is alive-? all this reeks of hypocrisy and double standards, don't you think?
Nothing bad to say about the true fans of WW, who have been quite vocal in their support of the wonder-verse and what they want to see with the WW cast (*hint*character development*hint*). Even some will tell you that they rather have a more structured and well developed universe for Diana and her cast, than see her being passed along her JL coleagues as a love interest. SHE DESERVES MORE.
Don’t drag Clois and its fans into this, and STOP blaming #BatCat and #WonderBat fans (I bet it was surprising for them as well and I bet they want their pairing with both Bruce and WW being SINGLE), when we all know that WW will go away, and the real mess (if there is one) will be staying with Bruce and Selina, they'll be the ones dealing with it. (BatCat fans: at least after all this drama, queen Selina will be safe. Us #Clois fans had to endure things BEFORE Clark could talk with Lois about what happened with Diana in Asgard: like Clark being poisoned with GreenK, Parasite kidnapping Lois AND impersonating her -needless to say, parasite as Lois was a bitch to Clark, and we only got some sort of "closure" from that story in AC #761 until it was fully addressed by Diana in WW #170-)
Long story short: the positive thing I saw from AC is that Lois helped all the workers of the Daily Planet to keep their jobs, and Selina is still herself in Batman #39 (she had a cool action sequence btw). As I said before, I doubt something will happen, but it makes me wonder...which relationship will be showcased this way next? which female character will be in Lois and Selina's place now? But the most important thing...WHY? Heck, I don't like Wonder Woman, but this kind of stories written THIS WAY didn't do any good to any of the characters.
THEY. DESERVE. BETTER.

Album of the Week - 106
David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Tom Waits.... all these guys created masterpieces for over 4 decades, rewriting the script of rock music as we know it. Continuity and consistency is an under-appreciated skill in music. David Bowie's final album was lauded as one of his best ever. It came out almost 5 decades after his first masterpiece, Honky Dorry. We recently explored the breadth and lasting impact of Paul Simon. As for Tom Waits... Hoist That Rag came out in 2004 and Tom Traubert Blues (Waltzing Matilda) came out in 1976.
More such musicians come to mind...  Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison.
But there's an obvious omission from the list that we haven't yet had as an AoTW; it's the man often referred to as "The Boss".
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Springsteen is an American hero. A brooding, sexy, male icon who shot to fame in 1975 and has yet to stop. Born in New Jersey, Springsteen was a beautiful story teller, with an underrated ability to create interesting stories off of everyday events of American life. His first 2 albums were relatively underwhelming and they certainly didn't garner the required accolades to make him a global superstar. But that changed with his 3rd album, Born To Run. It's the album that turned him to a star and paved the way for one of the more famed careers in rock music. Since then, every Springsteen album feels like an occasion. Unfortunately I either wasn't alive or was too young to remember his biggest albums coming out, but there's no doubt that these albums are milestones in rock music. The River (that we've recently been listening to btw), Born in the USA (the album cover is one of a true American hero. Springsteen really is!), Tunnel of Love and of course Nebraska (his amazing acoustic guitar elegy). Oh and in the 90s he topped the charts with Streets of Philadelphia, the song from the film with the same name.
Springsteen has a truly great voice, with a superb howl that he uses to great effect in his live shows. His shows are a thing of legend. Going on for 3 hours, hit single after hit single, with Springsteen on the guitar and vocals jumping up and down, full of intensity and passion and his E Street Band supporting him, Springsteen gigs are never topped. The dude was the hottest, coolest, rockiest, most confident and commanding live performer for 15 years. His E Street Band are also superb. They are amazingly tight, with Steve Van Zandt on guitars and Clarence Clemons on the sax being as important some times as Springsteen himself.
Born To Run is Springsteen's most consistent album. All songs matter. All songs have something to say. The lyrics of the closer "Jungleland" talk of The Rat, who gets involved in random events in Springsteen's hometown of New Jersey. It's a 10 minute epic that is famous for Clemons' saxophone solo. One of the best! "Thunder Road", with its melodic harmonica, starts things off with a bang. And "Born to Run", the first single of the album is the song that made Springsteen into a superstar. From the initial drum fill, to the superb rock riff that sparkles and wows, "Born to Run" brought it all together. The howl, the guitar, the sax solo, the story telling, the catchy chorus, the break, drop and countdown (1,2,3,4) to the bridge and chorus for one more time, the screaming and sing-along in the end.... seriously. Analysing that song gives you fits.
Then going to on "She's the One", with the initial high paced staccato piano that matches the vocals is also great. When the drum, bass and electric guitar fill comes in, just picture it being played live. In fact, that was one of Springsteen's early criticism. Most of his songs were written to be played well live rather than as solid studio efforts. Bridging the 2 was vital.
From "Backstreets", to "Tenth Avenue Freeze-out" and to "Night", all the songs are fantastic. There's no doubt you will enjoy this album a lot.
Some of my favourite songs of his are actually not on the album. He has so many. I would love to see him live. I really would. I wish I were alive when he was at his best. To celebrate the music of a true one-off. Someone who had all the talent in the world, an amazing way to translate everyday situations to something poetic, a superb voice, forward thinking political and social views and great good looks and managed to put it all together.! I guess he's a great example of what the real American dream should be about....
I'd write more, but we've just met your parents in Hitchin with my father for dinner :)
Enjoy kiddo xxxx

RANDOM RECORD WORKOUT SEASON 5 Battle 10 Creedence Clearwater Revival: Cosmo's Factory (Side 1) Vs. Judas Priest: Screaming for Vengeance (Side 2) Creedence Clearwater Revival: Cosmo's Factory (Side 1) Creedence Clearwater Revival, often informally abbreviated to Creedence or CCR, was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 70's. The band consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, his brother rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford. Their musical style encompassed the roots rock, swamp rock, and blues rock genres. Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origins, they played in a Southern rock style, with lyrics about bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River, and other popular elements of Southern United States iconography. In addition, political and socially-conscious lyrics about topics including the Vietnam War were often in the repertoire. They were so good at it, often they are mistaken for actually being from that area. The band performed at 1969's famed Woodstock Festival, and every album they put out contained some sort of massive hit. Cosmo's Factory is no exception. In fact, the band was self aware of this and the album name is a direct reference. Jokingly named after Drummer Doug Clifford's longtime nickname, which is "Cosmo", combined with their factory like work ethic and rehearsal space conditions. It starts of with the amazing "Ramble Tamble". It's a simple bluesy infused number, that quickly devolves into one of the coolest musical interludes you will ever hear. Fogerty doesn't get the credit he deserves as an axman, but he nails it here. "Before You Accuse Me" contains some 12 bar blues essentials and is a catchy tune too. "Travelin' Band" is another hit, and hopefully one you recognize. Easy to follow and swallow like a pill. It's a self explanatory song about road life. That is followed by the Roy Orbison tune, "Ooby Dooby". It is not hard to see why CCR were so celebrated, as even the throwaway covers like this are just well done. The next one you know too. "Lookin' Out My Back Door". Yeah, you're singing the chorus in your head right now. "Do, do, doo...fill in the blanks". "Run Through the Jungle" finishes it out. Some say this is a precursor to Fogerty's later hit song "The Old Man Down The Road" during his solo career. There is a very clear derivative, but is it really plagiarism if you steal from yourself?? Anyhow, Fogerty and company had something special in this band that lasted a very short time. Plus, you have to appreciate how he pronounces his "woids". CCR is the result of a much cooler version of Kenny Rogers going into the studio with Leadbelly. Judas Priest: Screaming for Vengeance (Side 2) Judas Priest are an English heavy metal band formed in Birmingham, England, in 1969. The band have sold close to 50 million albums to date. They are considered by many as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. The band's membership has seen much turnover, including a revolving cast of drummers in the 1970s, and the temporary departure of singer Rob Halford in the early 1990s. The band's best-selling album is 1982's Screaming for Vengeance with their most commercially successful line-up, featuring Halford, Tipton, Hill, guitarist K. K. Downing, and drummer Dave Holland. Tipton and Hill are the only two members of the band to appear on every album. Their influence, while mainly Halford's operatic vocal style and the twin guitar sound of Downing and Tipton, has been adopted by many bands. Their image of leather, spikes, and other taboo articles of clothing were widely influential during the glam metal era of the 1980s. In short: they are the blueprint for almost everyone else who falls into this genre. Side two kicks off with the title track "Screaming For Vengeance". Indeed, my friends. Classic Priest right to the face. This is not your average band. It's an amazeballs effort! Taste the British Steel (#seewhatididthere). "You've Got Another Thing Coming" is perhaps the most notable track here, and one of the bands biggest blockbuster hits. Those beautiful rugga-chuggas, wrapped in a warm embrace of power chords. It's the extended dance mix LP version too! Extra sauce! What comes next can only be described as a cure. "Fever" contains a slow, crushing build to a kerosene burn! 103 degrees to boil your brain! Channel the inner Sabbath and rock out. You even get a triumphant 2nd half comeback to boot! I really could describe how amazing this album is all day long. C'mon, man! Even the cover art is bad-f#%*!+g-ass! But wait, there's more. Judas Priest saves the best for last. "Devil's Child" is a complete anthem, fist raised in the air riffage filled song with rage and blaze! This line-up is so solid that it's a shame it didn't last. Great production values on this platter too. Halford may have come out of the closet (#atomandhispackage) which is SUPER FLIPPING METAL btw, but he will still kick your teeth in with his screaming (for vengeance, apparently) (#seewhatididthere). Up there with Bruce Dickinson (Maiden) as one of the best metal vocalists ever, hands down. An integral part of British Metal that changed the face of radio in the 80's. If you don't own this, IMMEDIATLY go out and track down a copy. Creedence Clearwater Revival may have churned out some widgets from the Cosmo's factory, but they also burned 154 calories over 21 minutes and 6 songs. They earned 10 of 18 possible stars while burning 25.67 calories per song and 7.33 calories per minute. Judas Priest spent most of their time screaming for vengeance, but also managed to burn 169 calories over 4 songs in 21 minutes. They earned a RRW record of a perfect 12 of 12 possible stars while burning an amazing 42.25 calories per song and an impressive 8.05 calories per minute. Judas PRIEST these guys are good!!
