Summer Study Challenge!
If you’re like me and have a thesis due at the end of this month yet have no motivation whatsoever to complete it - then this is the post for you! I’ve created this vey adaptible and casual summer study challenge to give you an opportunity to set goals, stay motivated, and make significant progress in your academic pursuits during the sunny season (as well as hold myself accountible for my thesis!)
🌟 Setting Goals: Start by setting specific and achievable goals for the summer. What subjects do you want to focus on? Are there specific skills you wish to develop? Whether it's mastering a difficult concept, improving your writing skills, or completing a challenging project, define your objectives to give direction to your summer study journey. My Goal: Completing my Master’s thesis a week before the deadline.
📆 Time Frame: Determine the duration of your Summer Study Challenge. It could be a week, a month, or the entire summer break. Consider your availability, commitments, and the level of intensity you want to dedicate to this challenge. Remember, the key is to find a balance that keeps you engaged and motivated without overwhelming yourself. My Time Frame: July
📚 Choose Your Focus: Select the areas of study you want to prioritize during the challenge. It could be a specific subject, a series of textbooks, or a set of skills you want to master. Ensure your chosen focus aligns with your goals and interests, making your study sessions engaging and rewarding. My Focus: My thesis topic
🗓️ Study Schedule: Create a study schedule that outlines your daily or weekly study sessions. Set aside dedicated blocks of time for studying, reviewing, and completing assignments. Structure your schedule in a way that fits your lifestyle and commitments, and be sure to include breaks for rest and rejuvenation. My Schedule: 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, with Sunday’s free
📌 Track Your Progress: Keep track of your progress throughout the challenge. This can be done using a study journal, a digital tracker, or even a dedicated bullet journal spread. Record completed tasks, milestones achieved, and any insights or reflections you have along the way. Tracking your progress serves as a motivating visual reminder of your accomplishments. My Progress: Tracking each chapter of my thesis that I complete e.g. Intro, State of the Art, Methodology, etc.
🤝 Accountability and Support: Share your participation in the Summer Study Challenge with the studyblr community or a study buddy. Engage in conversations, ask for advice, and offer support to others embarking on their own challenges. Creating a sense of accountability and camaraderie can keep you motivated, inspire new ideas, and provide encouragement during moments of self-doubt. My Accountability: My lovely followers (no pressure guys!)
🌈 Bonus Challenges: Consider incorporating bonus challenges or themes into your study journey. It could involve studying in unique locations, exploring different study techniques, or engaging in interdisciplinary projects. These challenges add a fun and adventurous element to your summer study experience. My Bonus Challenge: Study in at least three places that are not my campus library
🎉 Celebrate Your Achievements: Celebrate your accomplishments throughout the Summer Study Challenge. Recognize and reward yourself for reaching milestones, completing challenging tasks, or making significant progress. Treat yourself to something you enjoy, whether it's a day off, a special meal, or an outing to celebrate your hard work and dedication. My Achievements: Graduating with a master’s degree (I hope!)
Remember, the Summer Study Challenge is about personal growth, self-discovery, and enjoying the process of learning. Embrace the opportunity to expand your knowledge, develop valuable skills, and make lasting memories during this sunny season!

No-stress Summer Learning Challenge 🌞
Tumblr media
Where did the idea of the no-stress summer learning challenge come from 🤔?
I see do many posts about summer studying, that it makes me worried. People spend their time studying during summer holidays, already preparing for the upcoming semester/school year. It's your free time and, as someone, who already has a full-time job (and is trying to finish her thesis to get a master's degree), I can tell you, that you probably won't have that much free time in the summer once you start working. Yes, it's sad and unfair, but unfortunately, it's real 🙁. So please, take your time, use it for something else, than worrying about exams, preparing for school and getting stressed and burnt out before school even starts. Don't waste your energy sitting in front of your PC/laptop, or with a course book, learing stuff by heart, while the sun ☀️ is shining outside, children are playing and other people are going out with their friends and families. And if you already work full-time, but also are still a student, don't use whatever free time you have on summer to study even more. Unless you absolutely have to, of course (I'm in this kind of situation, I have to write my thesis during summer, because the deadline is in September), but even then, don't use all your time for schoolwork. Although I consider summer studying an unnecessary stress factor, there's a difference between studying and learning. Studying is for school, learning is for yourself 🙂. I'm not telling you to be lazy the whole summer, but to consider learning something, that doesn't include schoolwork. It may be related to what you're studying in college/at school, or it may be something totally different. It may be something about technology 🔌 (programming, robotics, electronics...), art 🎨 (drawing, painting, embroidery...), nature 🌱 (gardening, foraging, birdwatching...), music 🎶 (singing, playing an instrument, making electronic music...), foreign languages 🗺️, sports ⚽, cooking 🍲, baking 🍩, kintting 🧶, sewing 🪡... the list is endless. So, as an alternative to summer studying challenge, you can start a no-stress summer learning challenge.
Tumblr media
The main rules 📑
The main purpose of this challenge is to find motivation to learn for yourself 😀 again, so no exams, no homework, no grades, just you and your goal .
You're free to choose what you're going to learn, based on your own passions, dreams and ambitions 😍, without worrying about other people's judgement and expectations.
It's supposed to be stress free 😌, so there are no fixed schedules or deadlines. It's up to you to plan your learning and decide, how long it's going to take you.
To stay focused, please choose one topic and stick to it. It doesn't mean, you can't learn anything else. Actually you should, because staying concentrated on one thing for too long can make you burn out quickly, but have one main goal 😎.
Remember to take proper breaks 🥱. Learning all the time will only make you sterssed and tired. It's not school, so you don't need to worry about any fixed due date or preparing for a test.
Don't be too hard on yourself and remember that mistakes are a part of learning 😯, not a failure or shame.
Tumblr media
Preparing for the challenge and completing it 📚
Think about, what do you want to learn this summer. It doesn't have to be very specific at this stage. For example, it can be something like "I want to learn about cats 🐈", or "I want to learn to draw 🖼️", or "I want to learn about tea 🫖".
When you know, what you want to learn, do your research, to be able to set a more specific goal. Read about this topic, watch some videos, maybe try to find people, who have more knowledge about it, than you, and talk to them. Let the "I want to learn about cats" become "I want to learn proper cat care 😸", the "I want to learn to draw" become "I want to learn to draw manga 🎏" or the "I want to learn about tea" become "I want to learn, how to brew various kinds of tea 🍵".
You've done the research, so now it's time to find your "why", because to stay motivated, you need to remember that you're doing it for a reason and that this knowledge is useful. The "I want to learn proper cat care" becomes "I want to learn proper cat care to make my cats healthier and happier 😻", the "I want to learn to draw manga" becomes "I want to learn to draw manga, because I'm interested in art and Japanese culture 🌸" and the "I want to learn, how to brew various kinds of tea" becomes "I want to learn, how to brew various kinds of tea, because I like tea and I want to make it even better 🍃".
Once you find your motivation, look for the learning resources 💻. It can be an online course, internet articles, scientific papers, books, YouTube videos, TikTok videos... whatever, depends on what you're going to learn. You can also contact someone, who is na expert in what you're learning, and ask them for help. While learning from blogs, videos, etc., remember to check the sources, to make sure the person, who created this content, knows what they're talking/writing about.
When you know your resources, plan the whole thing ahead 📝, considering your other summer plans (like traveling or going out with friends), to make sure, that you have enough time for learning and that the time you're going to spend working towards your goal is fairly evenly distributed to avoid stress and burnout, but remember to make your schedule flexible, so you don't have to worry about learning at a fixed time. Again, it's not school.
You've planned everything, now set reminders in your phone 📱 and/or write it down in a planner 📔 or on some post-it notes 📄... whatever works best for you to remember about your goal and the time you've decided to spend learning.
To minimize the risk od procrastination, divide the tasks into smaller tasks. You can write to-do lists ☑️ (either digital, or on paper), so you can see your progress and know exactly, what needs to be done.
To avoid getting burnt out 🤯, step away from what you're learning once in a while. Don't overwork yourself, you're not preparing for an exam.
To ensure you have enough energy ⚡, take care of your health, both physical and mental. Take breaks, sleep long enough 😴, go out with your friends, stay hydrated 💧, exercise 🏃🏻‍♀️, spend some time in nature 🌲.
Last, but not least: remember to post regular updates about your progress on your blog. It can be every day, every three days, once a week... you decide. It can include photos, but doesn't have to. Just make it regular and tag it with "no-stress summer learning challenge" or "no-sslc" 😊.

Summer Studying Tips
As it around the time schools get out for summer, I wanted to share some tips I’ve learned over my many years of doing summer math homework and writing essays for various purposes. I’ve done this enough to know that there are really fucking painful ways to do it and ways that don’t suck nearly as much. Lets get cracklakin!
Timing:
- Ideally you should start early. This post is happening at the start of summer because you should start your studying at the beginning of summer. I like to organize my workload in a bell curve for maximum rest and least amount of cramming at the end. This means that you are starting the summer with a smallish amount of work (to rest and do fun things to reset from the schoolyear), and doing more and more every day as the summer progresses (helps stave off boredom and gets things done), and then start doing less to re-rest yourself so you can be fresh and ready for the next year. All of this while still being finished with no need to cram a bunch of work in at the end of the summer.
- While this is a different aspect of “timing” it is, in my opinion, more important.  Have a set time (or many set times you rotate between) to do your summer work. Make sure this time is not when other people are going to be inviting you to things or when you can hear or see people outside doing fun things. For me, this means at four or five in the morning. I wake up and get as much done as I can before six, then have the rest of the day to relax without worrying about  having to do anything. This method was practically beaten into me, so I kinda hate it, but I can tell my father to go fuck himself and still use tools he forced upon me. I know many people who only work at noon because they like sitting outside in the morning sun and they hang out with friends in the evening. Overall for this one, just make sure that the time you pick isn’t a time where you typically do something because the worst feeling in the world is fomo while studying- it kills nay and all motivation.
Location:
I feel like every study tips post known to man says something or rather about how important location is- and it is super important! Like super super important! but no-one talks about why it is so important. And that good locations for studying depend on who you are and how you do work. I personally struggle to work in cafes because I can hear people talking and I’m nosey as hell. I have friends who can’t work in libraries because the quiet + book noises freaks her out. I can’t work in my kitchen because its nearly impossible for me to focus there. the main things I think about before I try working in a new space are
1) how loud will it be
2) what kind of noise will it be
3)have I spent time there before doing something else (that my mind will want to do more than study)
4) is it somewhere I have the space to study + internet
5) will I run into someone I know
6) can I be there a decently long amount of time without paying/not paying very much?
7) what is the temperature like
8) what is the likelihood of a kids club showing up
obviously these criteria are different for each person, but they might be a good jumping off place- because it is summer and most kids are getting out of school, avoiding places that will be overrun with them is probably a good idea. In addition, make sure to settle down in a place that is a comfortable temperature and a place where the temp wont fluctuate too much.
Motivation:
I think overall this is the most important thing to keep in mind. It doesn't matter how well you plan out when and where you will be doing your work, it is hell to do if you don’t want to do it.
I’m not going to tell you to love your subject, but if it is something that you don't like, that feels pointless, and you think it has absolutely no impact on your future, it’s going to be a nightmare to get done. I have no tips for you if you are in this situation.
If you don’t want to do it because it is annoying, but it’s a necessary class that you need to take, that works great! put on some fun music and force yourself to do it. It will suck but if it is part of your major or in any way connected to something you like or are passionate about, follow those connections. For example, I was in this awful writing class last semester. The teacher was bad and there was nothing really to be learned. it was a class i had to take solely for the credits. I decided that I was going to be obnoxious and write every damn essay about corsetry and the patriarchy. I swear to got I have 80 pages of writing about the damn subject. I should be publishing a book at this point. (I was one of my favorite classes that semester bc I had so much fun with the topic)
If you don’t want to do it because it’s hard, buckle up and open khan academy and YouTube. nearly every subject known to man is covered in some level on those two sites, and if that fails, find an alternate textbook to the one you have and see if having two perspectives makes it make sense.
If it’s something you want to do but just cant force yourself to do and you’ve been scrolling for hours, go brush your teeth, change clothes or take a shower and start trying to do your work somewhere new.
I hope one of these helped, and if you have more ideas/tips pls let me know bc I’m writing this to procrastinate on my own summer work.

WEEK 02: Light & Shadow
Tumblr media
I studied about the effect of light on objects and tried to find some tips for shaping three-dimensional object.
Tumblr media
I need to position the light for my drawing to know the right direction of light/shadow because I always misunderstand it😓
Tumblr media
+a : Practice to put the lights on my ocs’ faces ↓
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, finding my favorite atmosphere from some pictures that I took before was very interesting for me to make color palettes for some situations; for example, komorebi, seasides, rooms and so on.

Jun 3, 2023
So I'm getting a bit calmer with the fact that 20s can be chaotic and confusing and it's alright. Recently I've pressured myself a lot looking at others my age succeed in their fields but I realised that it's kinda senseless to even focus on others' roads while walking on a complete different one from theirs.
I turned 20 this year and this is what I learned:
It's okay to not have a direction, just don't be stagnant and enjoy the journey.
Everyone has their struggles & scars. Stop comparing and empathise more.
The more you seek, the emptier you become. Give yourself and others the love you seek outside.
Once you understand yourself enough, you'll not need others to listen to you.
It's okay to cry it out. But never cry over the same thing again.
Forgive yourself a little. You will do better than before.
Befriend your inner voice. At the end of the day it's only you who stays with yourself.
No matter what others say about you, never say hateful or negative words to yourself.
Eating clean, going for a daily jog, meditation are essentials of your self-love journey.
You are not what you decide, you are what you learn from its consequences.
Yeah that's for now, I hope y'all are doing good, if not then just trust the process. You'll be fine. Sending loads of love to the community.
Also I've started a streak about taking affirmative actions to create conscious positive changes in my life. I'll be tracking it on @unearthingyou so if you're interested please check it out.
until then xoxo.

Southern summer challenge, día 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
December 1st. • Do you like summer?
Yeeees, I love summer. I don't like hot weather but the sun cheers me up. The sky looks beautiful and clear, the air is warm and you can feel free. Also, my birthday is in February so summer gets me excited. It's still spring, but I'm already thinking about the summery activities I want to do.

solution (broke): change my username
