Being framed for a crime they didn't commit: Characters who are framed for a crime they didn't commit can face wrongful accusation, a loss of trust, and the pursuit of justice. It allows for exploration of themes of innocence, perseverance, and the search for truth.
These misfortunes can be used individually or combined to create layered and complex narratives where characters face adversity, overcome challenges, and ultimately find strength and growth through their experiences. Remember to balance the misfortunes with moments of resilience, hope, and eventual triumph to create a compelling narrative.

I read this week that Instagram is pushing “overtly sexual adult videos” to young users. For a Wall Street Journal investigation, journalists created accounts that could belong to children, following young gymnasts, cheerleaders and influencers. The test accounts were soon served sexual and disturbing content on Instagram Reels, alongside ads for dating apps, livestream platforms with “adult nudity” and AI chatbots “built for cybersex”. Some were next to ads for kids’ brands like Disney.
This is something I’ve been trying to get across to parents about social media. The problem is not just porn sites. They are of course a massive concern. Kids as young as nine are addicted. The average age to discover porn is now 13, for boys and girls. And many in my generation are now realising just how much being raised on porn affected them, believing it “destroyed their brain” and distorted their view of sex.
But the problem is bigger than that. Porn is everywhere now. TikTok is serving up sex videos to minors and promoting sites like OnlyFans. The gaming platform Twitch is exposing kids to explicit live-streams. Ads for “AI sex workers” are all over Instagram, some featuring kids’ TV characters like SpongeBob and the Cookie Monster. And there’s also this sort of “soft-porn” now that pervades everything. Pretty much every category of content that kids could stumble across, from beauty trends to TikTok dances to fitness pages, is now pornified or sexualised in some way for clicks.
I think this does a lot of damage to Gen Z. I think it desensitises us to sex. I think it can ruin relationships. But beyond that, I also believe a major problem with everything being pornified is the pressure it puts on young girls to pornify themselves. To fit the sex doll beauty standard; to seek validation through self-sexualisation, and potentially monetise all this like the influencers they’re inundated with.
Which, of course, puts girls at risk of predators. Predators who are all over TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat. Predators whose algorithms helpfully deliver them more content of minors and steer them towards kids’ profiles. Predators who are taking TikToks of underage girls and putting them on platforms like Pornhub.
And this is even more terrifying because adolescent girls are especially vulnerable today. They are vulnerable anyway at that age—but today they have far less life experience than previous generations of girls did. They are extremely insecure and anxious, and much less resilient. Combine this with the fact that they are now more easily exposed to predatory men than ever before in history, and served to strangers by algorithms. And another thing: girls are also able to look way older now. They have AI editing apps to sexualise themselves. TikTok filters to pornify their bodies. And access to every kind of make-up and hair and fashion tutorial you can think of to look sexier and more mature. I don’t think enough parents realise how dangerous this situation is.
Which is why I find it so frustrating to see some progressives downplay the dangers of all this. Those that dismiss anyone concerned about the pornification of everything as a stuffy conservative. And somehow can’t see how the continual loosening of sexual norms might actually empower predatory men, and put pressure on vulnerable girls? That seems delusional to me.
Let’s just say I have little patience for those on the left who loudly celebrate women sexualising themselves online, selling it as fun, feminist and risk-free, but are then horrified to hear about 12 year-olds doing the same thing. C’mon. No wonder they want to.
But I also find it frustrating to see some on the right approach this with what seems like a complete lack of compassion. I don’t think it helps to relentlessly ridicule and blame young women for sexualising themselves online. I don’t think it’s fair either. We can’t give girls Instagram at 12 and then be surprised when as young women they base their self-worth on the approval of strangers. We can’t inundate kids with sexual content all the time and be shocked when they don’t see sex as sacred, or think sex work is just work! We can’t give them platforms as pre-teens where they are rewarded for sexualising themselves and presenting themselves like products and then shame them for starting an OnlyFans. We can’t expose them to online worlds where everything is sexualised and then be confused why some of Gen Z see their sexuality as their entire identity.
And again, on top of these platforms, girls are growing up in a culture that celebrates all of this. They are being raised to believe that they must be liberated from every restraint around sex and relationships to be free and happy, and many have never heard any different. Celebrities encourage them to be a slut, get naked, make/watch porn and make money! Mainstream magazines teach them how to up their nude selfie game! Influencers tell millions of young followers to start an OnlyFans, and pretend it’s about empowering young girls to do whatever they want with their bodies! I can’t say this enough: their world is one where the commodification and sexualisation the self is so normalised. It’s heartbreaking. And cruel that anyone celebrates it.
So sure, young women make their own choices. But when we have children sexualising themselves online, when girls as young as 13 are using fake IDs to post explicit content on OnlyFans, when a third of those selling nudes on Twitter are under the age of 18, I think it’s safe to say we are failing them from an early age.
I guess what I’m trying to get across is this: it’s tough for girls right now. It’s tough to be twelve and anxious and feel unattractive and this is how everyone else is getting attention. It’s tough to constantly compare yourself to the hyper-sexualised influencers that the boys you’re interested in are liking and following and thinking you have to compete. It’s tough to feel like the choice is sexualise yourself or nobody will notice you. The sad reality is we live in a superficial, pornified culture that rewards this stuff, and in many ways punishes you if you’re modest and sensitive and reserved, and a lot of girls are just trying to keep up with it.
We need serious cultural change. We need to wake up to how insane this all is, how utterly mental it is that we allow young girls anywhere near social media, and how we’ve let the liberalising of sexual mores escalate to the point where pre-teens are posing like porn stars and are lied to that it’s liberation. And where we need to start is with an absolute refusal from parents to let their kids on these platforms.
So please. If the relentless social comparison and obliteration of their attention span and confusion about their identity wasn’t enough, this has to be. Don’t let your daughters on social media.

Tumblr media
A/N: this small thing drew inspiration from a recent conversation I had with my wonderful @indignant-alpaca, delving into the common struggles faced by students across various disciplines. Despite our diverse fields of study, we all encounter similar challenges sooner or later. Drawing from my own experiences, I decided to craft a variation focused on enhancing the learning process, using one of my favorite characters, Bakugo, as a source of inspiration 💣
MY HERO ACADEMIA MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
In class
Be actively involved in class discussions and activities. Katsuki would assertively participate, ensuring he grasps concepts firsthand.
Treat each class as a competition to stay engaged. Challenge yourself to excel, just like Bakugo's competitive spirit drives him to be the best hero.
Don't hesitate to ask questions when you're unclear. Katsuki would demand clarity, and you should too! It's a proactive approach to understanding the material.
Observe and analyze the teacher's explanations and demonstrations. Katsuki assesses his opponents' moves; similarly, analyze the "moves" in your lessons for a deeper understanding.
Take dynamic and concise notes. Katsuki strategizes in the heat of battle, and your notes should capture essential information for later review.
Studying
Approach your study sessions with intensity and focus. Katsuki's training is high-intensity, and your studies should match that energy.
Divide your study time into focused blocks for specific subjects. Master each "arc" before moving on to the next, just like Katsuki hones specific skills.
Work on problem-solving exercises regularly. Katsuki tackles various challenges, and you should too. Practical application reinforces theoretical knowledge.
Utilize interactive study methods. Katsuki learns by doing, and hands-on activities or simulations can enhance your understanding of complex topics.
Plan your study sessions strategically, focusing on high-priority subjects during peak concentration times. This approach mirrors Katsuki's tactical approach to hero battles.
Channel your inner hero by immersing yourself completely in the subject matter, just as Katsuki immerses himself in his battles.
Break down complex topics into smaller components for in-depth understanding, similar to how Katsuki analyzes quirks of his opponents to identify their weaknesses.
Learning attitude
Cultivate a hero's mindset. Set ambitious goals and view your studies as a heroic journey toward self-improvement.
Develop resilience in the face of challenges. Katsuki faces setbacks but emerges stronger. Treat academic difficulties as opportunities for growth.
Believe in your capabilities. Katsuki exudes confidence, and a strong belief in your abilities can positively impact your academic performance.
Be flexible in your approach to learning. Katsuki adapts his fighting style, and similarly, adapt your study techniques to different subjects or challenges.
Regularly reflect on your progress. Katsuki analyzes his battles for improvement; evaluate your academic journey to identify areas for growth.
Learning, Bakugo-style, means embracing the fact that doubters will always exist, no matter your achievements. Instead of seeking external validation, channel that energy into mastering your skills and gaining knowledge for your own growth. The focus should be on personal improvement and the satisfaction that comes from overcoming challenges, rather than proving yourself to others.
Periodically review past material to reinforce your knowledge. Katsuki often reflects on his battles to improve his combat strategy. Apply this concept to your studies for a solid foundation.
Test yourself regularly to identify weak points. Katsuki constantly challenges himself in battles to enhance his abilities. Use quizzes to gauge your progress and strengthen areas where you struggle.
Develop mental resilience to overcome setbacks. Katsuki faces defeats but bounces back stronger. Treat failures as stepping stones, learning from them to improve and move forward.

Shy gn!reader confesses to the Dateables
Characters: Diavolo, Barbatos, Solomon and Simeon (x reader, separately)
Masterlist
Anon request: Could I request headcanons for Diavolo, Barbatos, Solomon, and Simeon react to shy gn crush confessing to him nervously?
.
A/N: I made this so the Dateables were already crushing on the reader for a while, but it's the reader who confesses. Once again, Simeon gave me no inspiration and yet his section was the one I enjoyed the most
.
Diavolo
He’s used to loneliness and sacrifices, dedicating his limited free time to a small inner circle that he’s unable to expand. The rest of his devotions goes to his dreams and his duties, and that includes, above many other things, the student exchange program.
The only human he personally knows is Solomon and everybody is aware of the sorcerer’s peculiar personality, so he’s quick to accept that you’re going to be different from everything he’s ever known.
He just didn’t know how much.
You build a friendship with him, treating him without inhibitions while still respecting him. You accept and join his childish whims, ask for his advice in more serious matters and speak your mind without fear.
You make him feel normal, helping his love for you grow slow but steady over a strong foundation.
But then your behaviour around him changes and he feels completely lost. There’s a sort of restraint he’s never seen in you, your recent silence and your avoidance to look at him in the eye making him wonder in hurt if you finally know enough about him to be afraid.
Diavolo feels his heart sink when you ask to speak to him in private and he’s willing to accept he has lost you.
How wrong he is.
Your confession leaves him speechless, but the more you talk with a stammer while twisting your fingers, the more he feels his cheeks blush.
He doesn’t confess back. He directly asks you out on a date.
Barbatos
His duty to the Young Master doesn’t feel like a sacrifice to him. It’s an honour he’s glad to act in, so, although he likes to keep some free time for his private life, Barbatos is more than happy to set Lord Diavolo above everything else.
He doesn’t pay you much attention at first, given that there’s little to no connexion between you two. In fact, the first few times you hang out together outside official matters it’s always organized by someone else, mainly Luke.
The young angel enjoys baking and even his prejudices decrease upon the demon’s talents in the kitchen.
He also enjoys spending time with MC.
So he combines both of those things. That’s how Barbatos gets to know you better.
He revels in the discovery of your resilience and your kindness despite what surrounds you. Your smile while measuring ingredients with Luke, your attentiveness at his teaching.
He knows Lord Diavolo appreciates him and thanks his presence, but you’re the first one to treat him so… highly? You admire him, you hear him, you seek him.
His busy mind and busy schedule give him almost no time to ruminate his feelings, but he can’t run away for much longer.
It’s around the same time he finally accepts his need to be with you that you start to fidget around him. He sees you looking at him under your lashes, timidly smiling and looking at him when you think he isn’t paying attention.
Your feelings are obvious to him, but he lets himself enjoy the situation for as long as possible. It’s too adorable to let go.
When you finally gather the courage you need to confess and it’s his turn to be sincere, his words are worth more than a hundred romance books.
Solomon
At the beginning, his interest in you is entirely academic. A regular human living amongst the most powerful demons of the Devildom? Now, that is something worth his while!
Witnessing first-hand how your humanity is put to the test on the daily is fun at first, but then again… You still have humanity. Once lost, it wouldn’t come back.
He ultimately decides to side with you. It makes him feel a little better too.
Although you both have a cordial relationship, barely a friendship, he isn’t your priority. To be fair, you aren’t his either, so he can’t complain.
But then time passes and his infatuation starts to grow.
You remind him of better things. Those he lost long time ago and those he knows he’s incapable of reaching. You make him want to be better, to try and to be someone that you could be prouder of.
He uses his vast knowledge to compete for your attention. His stories and his studies, his vulnerability slowly showing to you. It’s difficult, but you’re worth it.
He knows it’s working when you go out of your way to spend time with him, a difficult task when half of your roommates, if not all of them, don’t trust him at all. That makes him elated, but insecure at the same time.
He doesn’t know how to move things forward without spoiling them, so he waits until you make the first move. When the moment comes, he forces himself to memorize every second of it.
Solomon doesn’t want to forget your timid expression or the way you can’t decide what to say to put your feelings on display. He doesn’t want to forget the wide smile you show when he reciprocates your affections.
Simeon
He cares for you since the beginning, even before forming a friendship. It’s in his nature to be kind and caring and he can’t help but to act on it with you.
Your personality immediately draws him closer. How positive you are despite your situation as well as your determination to keep going forward, proving the demons wrong.
Simeon feels a strange satisfaction whenever Lucifer’s brow twitches at your misdeeds.
It’s thanks to Luke, who wants to keep two of his favourite people close, that he gets the chance to know you better.
He enjoys every occasion you visit Purgatory Hall. Sometimes you’re invited by Luke to help him cook, study or even make puzzles; and other times is Simeon himself who asks you to spend time with them.
The evenings you manage to have dinner with them are the most fulfilling for him.
He’s never felt a love so strong before, but he’s a world renounced writer and a romantic at heart, so the only thing he’s capable of doing in this situation is to pour his affections and hope for you to accept his heart.
The conclusion reaches an end when he manages to reset his DDD yet again.
Luke, although irritated at him, manages to call you before going to the castle to hung out with Barbatos, but Simeon doesn’t mind. More than that, he prefers it.
The sole idea of being alone with you brings warmth to his heart, after all.
He knows you feel the same too. Seeing the light in your eyes, the curve of your smile and the tenderness in your shy-filled whispers is enough for him to know.
You don’t even have time to confess on your own.
Simeon asks with a sweet voice if his interpretations of your feelings are correct. If they are, bless his heart, he feels the very same.

UNNECESSARY AND UNHINGED RANT ABOUT CINDERELLA'S CHARACTER FROM CINDERELLA (2015) INCOMING
Lemme talk about Cinderella from Cinderella (2015) for a bit actually yeah because these changes to my girl completely baffle me
Tumblr media
She has friends now
Goes outside on her own
Says the only reason why she's staying is because it's her parent's house- bruh.
All of this takes away (+ more reasons down the cut) from the true cruelty of OG!Cinderella's backstory and how it all connects so well to inform you of her character and the actions she takes
OG!Cinderella has been indoctrinated into accepting her life as a maid to her step family since she was a small child. She is never seen going outside of the house besides the night at the ball. The only friends she had were random animals around her she couldn't even fully converse with. She had no other human perspective on her situation or how to get out of it. It makes sense why she's just taking her stepmother's tyranny while holding everything in because this isolation and neglect is all she knows. This is the entire limited scope of her world. A sad reality to many cases of abuse in real life.
And they just. Erased all of this for some. Reason???
Tumblr media
The night at the ball was a big deal because she literally NEVER gets to go out. This is the only time she interacts with the outside world aside from the ending. The impact of that was HUGE in the original movie. The new one just cheapened that imo by implying she goes out in town and talks to others regularly. This event was an impossible, fantastical dream come true to someone who is never treated as anything but a servant to everyone she knows.
Basically OG!Cinderella has it way worse which is what makes the ball such a huge deal in the first place.
Tumblr media
Third point I don't think I need to explain how Cinderella staying in her abusive home bc the house is "hers to love now that her parents are dead" is not a good character change and doesn't make sense. I would understand if her dad was alive and insisting on staying, but he is GONE. It is a building you grew up in sure, but that's all it is. Not something you sacrifice your wellbeing for. So that's a shit reason they didn't need to make up to say why this character is stuck in her abusive household. The isolation and years of gaslighting were enough. (Also showing how much of a frightening presence and manipulative villain Lady Tremaine is.)
And she sure left it quick after getting hitched lol
Tumblr media
The Fairy Godmother having the audacity to test Cinderella with that "oh I'm a poor old woman and I want some milk please" nonsense
Not very godmotherly of her in this version. 🥴 The Fairy Godmother appeared in the original to offer pure comfort to Cinderella in a time of desperate need, when this resilient and kind spirit finally reached her breaking point. The dress, slippers, pumpkin carriage, and magic were all given freely as a present to make her feel better at least for one night.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile this goofy ass Godmother has the audacity to be like "hey is she gonna be nice or not even though she's crying in tattered, recently destroyed clothing- I need to see that or else she doesn't get the magic juice". Like why did this become a way to test her morality all of a sudden? Why did you need something from her to give up the magic goods?? It's not even a good test she just walked a couple steps and poured some milk in a bowl,,,
Tumblr media
Idk man they made their relationship transactional for no reason which taints the original purpose of this scene imo. The original Fairy Godmother already KNEW Cinderella was kind without having to make sure by disguising herself as a rancid old lady. 😭 Weird and unnecessary addition.
Kinda nitpicky here but this film did not at all match the terror of the torn dress scene which really shows you how horrifying and humiliating it was to Cinderella
Comparison
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND THE BIGGEST OFFENDER: THE WAY SHE "ESCAPED".
I NEED TO TAKE A BREATH
BECAUSE LIKE. WHAT WAS THAT.
Original Cinderella, seeing a real chance of escape from her abuse, uses everything in her possession to do so. She's yelling for the mice to get the key, to get Bruno to chase away the cat, running down to meet the prince's attendants to make sure they get the proof of her identity from her- and that moment she oh-so-casually pulled out the second slipper??? SEEING HER STEPMOTHER'S SLACKED JAW??? GAGGED US ALL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ICONIC
But 2015. Bitch. What is going on. She gets locked up and easily accepts her doom. She just twirls and sings in her prison like a dunce because cINDerELLa wAs aLReADy cONTenT wIth her sMaLL mOMEnts oF hAPPIneSs anD dREamS wItH thE pRinCE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just. Gives up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not the mice begging her to get up and save herself come on now
Tumblr media
The mice have to do their best on their own to push open her window so the prince and his crew hear her on time.
And yeah, all she had to do was open a window.
Tumblr media
WHAT. WHY. HOW. WAS THIS??? MORE EMPOWERING???
1950: use your brain to fight to the very end
2015: quit while you're still ahead, or don't try you just gotta dance and sing all pretty then someone will come along and save you
I'm sorry, but for a production that was so critical of the notion of "Cinderella just waited around for a prince to save her"...is that not literally what they changed the ending to?
You wanna talk about lack of agency in princess stories well here you go 😭
You know what's sad about all this in the end is this is still the best recent live action Disney remake imo LOL
Anyways hello if you've made it all the way down here I rest my case

Tumblr media
The Morning After situation 1. Two characters hook up, the next morning Person A finds the bed beside them empty and thinks Person B snuck away and is never to be seen again. Except Person B is doing something innocuous like making Person A breakfast. "Frank and I hooked up last night and now the sheets beside me are cold. Of course that emotionally distant bastard can’t face the morning after."

*I never give permission for my fics, manips, or any other original creation I post on this site to be copied, posted elsewhere, translated, or fed into any AI program. The only platform I currently post anything on is Tumblr. Thanks!*
The scratchy linen sheets beneath you pricked against your skin like a thousand needles, not that that was the sensation you were most aware of at the moment.
Another circle of his tongue against your clit kept your attention centered on the pleasure growing between your legs, causing you to cry out as he brought you to ecstasy once more.
Your third orgasm washed over you in rippling waves like a steady current, pulled from you as though it were the easiest thing in the world for him.
And he hadn’t even removed his pants yet.
“Mmm, attagirl.” he praised
The two of you had crossed a line tonight, snapping in half the tedious tightrope you walked between friendship and something more. The way in which he hungrily devoured you assured you it was indeed lust, but you weren’t sure if either of you were ready to admit what it really was.
What man has ever made you orgasm three times on the first hookup? you thought as he removed his body from between your shaking legs.
Looking down to admire the sight of you so beautifully ruined beneath him, he flashed that lopsided grin, lips still coated in your arousal, before finding the shiny silver of his belt buckle, unfastening it with a grunt. Even in the bedroom, he remained a man of few words, responding only with a nod as you begged beneath him.
“Frank, please…”
Every tooth of his zipper pulled apart painfully slowly, the way you squirmed in anticipation as his fingers guided it downward tested his resilience to not just dive back in and make you cum again.
“Patience, sweetheart.” he cooed, before his jeans were pushed to the floor in a crumpled heap beside his long-ago discarded shirt.
The knowledge of how precarious a situation this was hung over him. He wanted to savor every moment before him, every moan and whimper, every inch of your skin against his calloused fingers. But if he dragged this out too long, it might give way to either of you overthinking the consequences of crossing this line.
You were keenly aware of the delicacy of the moment too as you laid back on the bed, spreading yourself open to invite him in. Months of slowly tearing down the emotional walls he built, brick by brick, now blown apart in an instant with the wrecking ball of your lips against his; your skin flush against him, your delicate gaze boring into his dark eyes. It could all be undone in a moment though, chancing them being built higher and stronger than before if you did not proceed correctly.
“Frank…” you begged again as he hovered his body above yours, sheets already crumpled in your fists beside you. Your breathy pleading urged him to continue, lining up to slot himself inside you, if only to keep hearing more of those beautiful utterances of his name. He knew over the next few days, the way your moans echoed between his ears would haunt him until he had to fist his cock for relief, reliving the feeling of your delicate caress against his scar-laden skin until he’s breathing raggedy and coming apart all over again.
“Oh Frank” you whimpered as he pushed inside, your warm breath tickled his ear as you incited him to fuck you.
His hands roamed along your tender curves, reaching to find steady grounding amongst the flurry of sensations of you.
Even now as your bodies entwined in a sweaty heap of need and carnality, he knew the tenderness that laid beneath the act, feelings unspoken threatened to bubble to the surface as you continued to consume each other with every thrust, every gasp and moan, every motion driving you both towards a careening cliff of pleasure.
“Please” you begged again, pleading swallowed by his tender kisses as he tried to hang on a little longer.
His hand reached for yours, entwining fingers to tether himself to your heart as you came apart beneath him a final time. Your writhing in ecstasy had him falling behind you, barely realizing it as it happened, buried so deep inside both your warm velvet walls and soul to know up from down.
He groaned deep as your divine cunt squeezed every last drop from his cock until he was totally spent.
Collapsing beside you on the bed, he turned over to gaze upon your etherealness. Dewy sweat droplets clung to your brow and your kiss bitten lips gasped for air like a fish on land seeking the relief of the sea as you caught your breath.
His dark maple eyes roaming over you was the last thing you remembered before you were devoured up by exhaustion seeping into your bones.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
The cold radiating from the sheets as you sleepily ran a hand across them was not an unfamiliar experience, only noteworthy this morning because you expected to find them otherwise.
The warmth of Frank’s body beside you was nowhere to be found.
You didn’t even dare open your eyes to the reality of the situation.
“Foolish” you grumbled to yourself, already mentally drowning in misery at how you’d fallen all the way down the mountain side after months of careful climbing to reach the peak that was him opening up to you.
That was if you ever saw him again at all. You’d known him well enough to be aware that such a transgression against the fortress he’d built around the castle of his heart could totally isolate you from his life forever.
A clattering from the kitchen of your small apartment drew your attention, eyes snapping to gaze at the disturbance to your wallowing.
Two mugs of coffee balanced in his hand, holding them as easily as he’d held your lust captive over and over again the night before.
“You’re here.”
An amused grin spread across his face as he delivered his simple morning gesture of adoration to your bedside table.
“Course I am.”
With that reassurance, the hesitation washed away and you captured his lips in yours once more. Not a kiss filled with sensuality and need like the night before, but a tender kiss that filled in words unspoken.
“I’m not going anywhere.”

potentially hot take that I will definitely live to regret posting BUT im genuinely flummoxed by the sort of moral outrage I see floating around the tags about how some people aren’t enjoying THG in the correct way because they just don’t (!!!!!) understand (!!!!!) that it’s (!!!!!!!) about child murder (!!!!!!). I’m sorry but we all understand that it’s about child murder. The child murder is on the tin in GIANT red lettering. It’s the most overt, extreme element of the premise and as such, Suzanne Collins uses it as a tool for asking more complex moral questions about trauma, warfare, selfhood, vengeance, governance, identity, resilience, etc. She uses it to explore multifaceted dynamics between characters who are framed as good and characters who are framed as bad and many characters who are somewhere in between. The fundamental question of the narrative isn’t “is child murder evil?” because that’s an incredibly basic question that we all know the answer to and it’s frankly ridiculous and insulting to our collective intelligence to imagine that we need to reiterate that every time we discuss the text.
THG is effective as speculative fiction because it engages with themes and ideas that are relevant to the world we live in — income equality, the violent acceleration of resource extraction, celebrity culture and the 1%, the commodification of people’s bodies and identities via social media, the increasing normalization of global war. But it is, and I cannot stress this enough, not real, and it’s in fact a very extreme exaggeration of reality. Just because SC was engaging with some questions about the ethics of entertainment does not mean we are the same as one of the fictional watchers of The Hunger Games if we enjoy diverse elements of the series. That’s not how fiction works, or at the very least it’s not how fiction must work, and I reaaaaaaally don’t think it’s a useful way to engage with this text.
I’m already cringing at the thought of how this discourse will continue as the TBOSAS release gets closer because TBOSAS is in many ways an even knottier text than the original trilogy, especially when viewed with the sort of reductive lens that boils any nuance down to the most basic sort of morality test.

*grabs mic* so in part of my ultimate defense for Meryl's incredible (human) strength of heart and resilience....
Leonof actually begins this volume (Trimax vol3) stating how much a normal human couldn't easily resist the abyssal void level of all that Vash has accumulated, carried, and endured over a functionally immortal lifetime of suffering. It'd be too much pain for someone to humanly bear...only for Leonof to prove that himself, once his sanity succumbs to the agony that'd been locked away in his own memories--he chooses to end himself. Now put that into perspective: Vash could recall enough to 'awaken' that, but just imagine if Leonof had received or felt a fraction of all the inhuman horrors and losses that Vash has suffered. :)
And SO...! Bingo, guess who~ The significance of the vol's foreshadowing in Meryl's line about being able to see the depths of Vash's (Dark Horse: 'entire') enigmatic past is not lost on me!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because, as a normal human woman like her, who's completely unequipped (no special powers or training) to deal with that realm of the inhuman--of all the unfathomable dark horrors and truths beyond human comprehension she'd find there, it becomes the biggest test of heart and character (especially for someone so small!) and the strength of her feelings towards Vash really, to be able to resist the extent of what most other humans--like Leonof, would only fail to endure.

Heaven's POV
As I walked hand in hand with Taehyung towards Jungkook's room, my heart swelled with happiness. I missed my boys so much while I was away. It felt like a lifetime had passed since I had seen their faces.
My boys? Hmm, it has a nice ring to it. The bond we shared was still in the making but I felt a deep pull towards them, it felt so right.
Despite the affection I felt for them, there were certain aspects of my life that I couldn't share with them. The dangerous and dark world I navigated through was something I wanted to shield them from at all costs. That's why I had taken it upon myself to train them so that they could defend themselves if the need ever arose. I couldn't bear the thought of them getting hurt or dragged into the shadows that haunted my existence.
They had already been through so much, faced numerous obstacles that tested their courage and resilience. I vowed to protect them from any further harm, to be their pillar of strength and support no matter what challenges lay ahead.
As Taehyung animatedly filled me in on all the things the guys had been up to in my absence, a warm feeling of contentment settled in my chest. Knowing that they were safe and happy brought me immense relief. To see them thriving and enjoying life without any restrictions or limitations filled me with pride and joy.
“— And Jungkook has been hooked ever since,” Taehyung concluded, talking about Jungkook's newfound obsession with gaming.
The thought of Jungkook engrossed in something he loved brought a smile to my face. It was moments like these that made all the hardships worth it.
When we finally reached Jungkook's room and I made a move to open the door, I was caught off guard as it swung open before I could even touch the handle. A blur of motion and a strong pair of arms enveloped me, pulling me into a tight hug.
“Noona, I missed you so much, don't ever leave me again,” Jungkook's voice was a mix of longing and playfulness as he squeezed me against his chest. His affectionate gesture warmed my heart.
“Aw, I'll never leave you, baby,” I reassured him, returning his hug with equal fervor. Just being in his presence made me feel whole and at peace.
Jungkook tugged me into his room, shutting the door behind us to block out Taehyung's protests. As he pulled me further into his personal space, I raised an eyebrow in silent question, only to be met with his guilty pout.
“I want to spend time with Noona, you can have her later,” Jungkook said to Taehyung, his voice tinged with a hint of mischief and affection. I chuckled at his antics, knowing that underneath his tough exterior, he was still a lovable and caring individual.
I heard Taehyung grunt from the other side of the door, but he didn't push the issue further. Jungkook had a way of getting what he wanted with his adorable pouts and persuasive tactics. It was a talent that never failed to amuse me.
Jungkook's  POV
As Taehyung left the two of us alone in the room, I guided her to sit on my bed and settled myself comfortably on the floor, resting my head in her lap. A wave of relaxation washed over me as she placed her hands on my head, gently running her fingers through my hair.
I closed my eyes, savoring the moment of pure bliss. She started humming a soft, soothing tune while continuing to play with my hair, almost hypnotizing me into a state of tranquility. Her touch was gentle yet comforting, and I felt a sense of peace wash over me.
“Jungkook, why do you and Jimin call me Noona? From what I read in the files, you guys are older than me,” she asked, a hint of confusion in her voice. I could sense that she was genuinely curious about our choice of address.
I smiled up at her, taking in the sweet scent that always seemed to surround her whenever we called her Noona.
"Because you're like a Noona to us. You're strong, brave, and caring. Ever since the day you brought me and my Hyungs into your life, I could see that fiery passion in you. It just feels right to call you Noona," I explained, my voice filled with affection.
Her fragrance, a delightful mix of lavender and baby powder, enveloped me in a sense of contentment. I inhaled deeply, reveling in the familiar scent that always made me feel at home. Knowing that I was the reason behind her happiness only added to my own.
“Kook, you're such a sweetheart, you know that?” she remarked, her smile warm and genuine.
I couldn't help but grin back at her. "I know," I replied playfully, drawing a chuckle from her. The sound was music to my ears, a reminder of the bond that was steadily growing between us.
Despite knowing her for a relatively short time, she had already managed to bring a sense of peace and acceptance to our little group. As hybrids, trust didn't come easily, especially given our past experiences with humans. However, Heaven – Noona, as we affectionately called her – was different. She exuded kindness, warmth, and a genuine care that set her apart from anyone we had encountered before.
It was evident that I, Jimin, Hosoek and Taehyung weren't the only ones drawn to her. The other members of our pack, though initially wary, had also begun to let down their guard in her presence. She had a way of making us feel valued and accepted, despite the prejudices we had faced due to our hybrid nature.
I closed my eyes again, letting the rhythmic motions of her fingers through my hair lull me into a state of peaceful bliss. In that moment, surrounded by her comforting presence, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for her existence in our lives.
We bask in the serene tranquility, cocooned in a bubble of time where seconds feel like eternity, while her gentle fingers explore the strands of my hair, eliciting a chorus of contented purrs from deep within me. The minutes slip by imperceptibly until she shatters the peace with her soft voice.
“We'll be leaving this place, and I'll be taking you and the guys home,” she announces, her words laced with a sense of belonging that tugs at my heartstrings.
The word 'home' reverberates within me, stirring up a maelstrom of emotions. It's a word I've long forgotten, a concept that feels foreign yet strangely alluring when she includes us in it.
Tears cascade down my cheeks unchecked, catching me off guard until her tender touch on my face brings me back to reality.
“Sweetheart, what's the matter?” Her concern only intensifies my torrent of tears, and she enfolds me in a warm embrace, anchoring me to the present.
Clutching onto her like a lifeline, I release a floodgate of emotions that have been bottled up inside me for years, a deluge of unspoken longing and aching vulnerability.
The love I feel from her is a stark contrast to the protection and care my brothers have showered upon me as the youngest sibling. Despite my physical stature, I am forever the baby brother in their eyes, shielded from the harsh realities of the world.
Countless times, I've been summoned to satisfy the desires of others, yet my brothers have shielded me from the darker aspects of that world, insulating me from its horrors to preserve what little innocence remains in me.
I cherish them for their sacrifices, for the sacrifices they've made to shield me from the brutalities of life. I would willingly lay down my life to shield them from the darkness that threatens to engulf us all.
But now, a new person had entered my life, someone who had quickly become an essential part of it. Heaven. The mere thought of her brought a surge of emotions, a primal need to shield her from any potential harm that might come her way.
As I gazed into her eyes, a sense of protectiveness enveloped me like a cloak. I could feel my hybrid instincts clawing to the surface, urging me to keep her safe at all costs. It was a peculiar sensation, one that I had never experienced before, yet I welcomed it with open arms.
The overwhelming desire to safeguard her, to shield her from any danger that might lurk in the shadows, consumed me. It was as if a voice deep within me, primal and raw, whispered fiercely - "Protect what's mine." And in that moment, I knew without a shred of doubt that Heaven was mine to protect.
My eyes blazed with an intensity that startled even me. A fierce determination welled up inside me, igniting a burning need to stand guard between Heaven and any potential threat that dared to come near her. It was a feeling of territoriality and possessiveness, uncharted territory for me, but one that felt undeniably right.
And so, without hesitation, I made her a solemn promise.
“I will protect you, no matter the cost. Even if it means sacrificing myself in the process, I would do so gladly, knowing that I could keep you safe." My voice rumbled, thick with emotion, the words spilling out as a vow not just to her, but to myself as well.
As Heaven gazed back at me, her eyes reflecting a mixture of gratitude, trust, and perhaps a hint of vulnerability, I knew that this newfound sense of protectiveness was not just a duty, but a privilege. To have someone to care for, to watch over, to love unconditionally - it was a responsibility I accepted with wholehearted dedication.
~Valentino Mansion~
3rd Person POV
~A Few Hours later~
The boys found themselves in awe as they drove past the grand gates of Heaven's mansion. They couldn't help but stare in wonder at the magnificent sight that was going to be their new home. It all seemed so surreal, like a dream they never wanted to wake up from.
As the car pulled up to the front of the house, they all stepped out, eagerly making their way inside the expansive mansion. Heaven, beaming with excitement, welcomed them with open arms.
“Welcome home, boys!” she squealed happily, her eyes shining with joy.
The boys were speechless, their hearts overflowing with gratitude and happiness. Jimin took the lead, followed by Jin, as they all surrounded Heaven, enveloping her in a tight, protective hug. She was their sanctuary, their comfort, the one who brought light and warmth into their lives.
Just then, a man entered the room, his presence commanding attention. He was strikingly handsome, with neatly groomed black hair and piercing hazel eyes that seemed to see right through them. Dressed in a sharp black suit, he exuded confidence and sophistication.
The hybrids, sensing a potential threat, instinctively formed a protective barrier around Heaven, their growls conveying a clear message of warning. The man, unruffled by their display, flashed a charming smile.
“Well, Heaven, it looks like you've found yourself quite the defence team. I can rest easy knowing you're in capable hands,” he remarked, his tone shifting from cool detachment to genuine warmth.
Heaven's laughter filled the room as she gently disengaged herself from the protective circle, running towards the man and embracing him tightly. The hybrids, though puzzled by the sudden change in atmosphere, maintained their guard, their loyalty unwavering.
With a soft sigh of contentment, Heaven planted a kiss on the man's cheek, eliciting a low growl from the hybrids, their possessiveness evident.
“Guys, I want you to meet someone very special to me, Andre Valentino, the eldest son of the Valentino family—my older brother,” she announced, causing the boys to gasp in surprise and quickly shift their focus. Suddenly, they appeared more like anxious puppies than fierce protectors.
Heaven's POV
"Hey everyone, it's so nice to finally meet all of you," Andre greeted the group with a big smile on his face. His enthusiasm was contagious, but I noticed that the boys seemed a bit hesitant and cautious. I totally understood where they were coming from. Building trust takes time, especially in a situation like this.
I decided not to push the boys to immediately trust Andre. They needed to learn for themselves who they could rely on and who they couldn't. It was all part of their training and growth process.
Namjoon, with a hint of confidence in his stride, stepped forward to greet Andre. The handshake between them was firm and friendly, and I could sense a real connection forming between them. It was clear that they would get along just fine.
As the initial tension melted away, the rest of the boys slowly approached Andre, exchanging introductions and pleasantries. It was a relief to see them starting to warm up to him and accept that he was a trustworthy companion.
"Alright, now that everyone has met, let me show you all to your rooms," I announced, leading the way towards the staircase. The boys followed closely behind, eager to settle into their new environment.
Andre gave us a wave as he headed off on his own, leaving us to continue with our introductions and settling in. The atmosphere was starting to feel more relaxed and welcoming, and I felt hopeful about the bonds that were beginning to form among us.
We finally made it to the fourth floor where my room and the rest of the boys' rooms were located. Jungkook couldn't contain his amazement when he saw the place, and his surprised expression made me chuckle.
As we stepped out of the elevator, Jungkook's eyes widened in awe, "Woah, Heaven Noona, your place is amazing!" he exclaimed.
"Our place, Kookie," I corrected him, giving him a warm smile. He blushed and looked away, his shyness contrasting with the fierce determination he had shown earlier. It was amusing to witness the duality of these boys, how they could switch from protective guardians to blushing messes in a matter of moments.
The space was not just mine but also theirs. I wanted them to feel at home and know that they didn't have to ask for anything because it was all theirs for the taking.
My room was at the far end in the middle, with the boys' rooms branching off to the left and right. I led them to the first room on the left, and their reactions brought tears to my eyes.
"How do you like this room?" I inquired, waiting for their response. Jin's eyes glistened with unshed tears as he spoke, "It's beautiful, Heaven, words can't describe how happy we are."
With a gleam of excitement, I revealed, "You're welcome because this is your room, Jin!" His disbelief was evident as he stammered, "W-what do you mean this entire room is mine? I'm not sharing with the other guys?"
I explained my intention, "Yes, you each have your own rooms. I know you guys enjoy being together, but I wanted to give you the option to have your personal space when needed. It's essential for your mental well-being to have that time for yourself occasionally." They all nodded in agreement, understanding the importance of self-care.
"Feel free to decorate the rooms as you like. They come with built-in bathrooms and a restocked mini kitchen daily. It's like having your own mini flat. Make the most of them, but remember not to drift apart from each other," I advised, emphasizing the significance of their bond.
Jin, overwhelmed with gratitude, managed to blurt out, "Thank you so much, Heaven. It's a bit soon, and I love you all, but please leave, I need some me time." With that, he ushered us out of his room and shut the door.
We couldn't help but burst into laughter at his abrupt dismissal, realizing how much he cherished the idea of having his own space. After showing the boys around the rest of the rooms, I left them to settle in and headed to my room for a long-awaited shower.
I stepped into the warm embrace of the shower, feeling the hot water cascade over my body like gentle waves, relieving the tension in my muscles. It had been a challenging week, but I knew every moment of it was worth it.
After my shower, I settled onto my bed, my mind already drifting to the task at hand - training them. It wasn't going to be a simple process. They were hybrids, each carrying different counterparts that played a crucial role in their development.
While general training methods could be effective, I knew that specific training tailored to their individual counterparts would be necessary. It meant I had to call upon my brothers and my uncle for assistance. In order for the training to be successful, they needed to trust me and my family.
To my surprise, the boys seemed to trust me quicker than I had anticipated. It was both reassuring and concerning, knowing that they were not inherently trusting individuals. They seemed to possess an instinct, a sixth sense, that guided them on who to trust and who to keep at arm's length. It was a trait that could prove to be a valuable asset for them in the future.
I was intrigued by the boys' innate abilities, as it gave them an edge in identifying friend from foe without the need for extensive background checks. I looked forward to helping them embrace their animal sides fully.
Their animalistic instincts had been suppressed for too long, and I knew that during training, there would be risks. They might struggle to control their instincts, leading to moments where they would need to tap into their animal selves. This could potentially unleash a feral side that risked them losing touch with their human nature.
It was a challenge I would tackle when the time was right. For now, my focus was on ensuring their well-being. Showering them with love and kindness, and making sure they were well-fed and content were the first steps towards building trust and establishing a strong foundation for their development.
Lost in my thoughts, I heard a knock on my bedroom door, snapping me out of my reverie.
“Come in!" I called out, wondering who it could be.
The door creaked open, and in walked Hoseok. He flashed me a smile and strolled over to the chair next to my bed.
“Hey,” he greeted me casually, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
“What's up, hobi?” I asked, using his nickname.
He plopped down on the chair and rolled his eyes dramatically. “Nothing much, just trying to escape the chaos of the other guys. They're all busy fussing over their rooms, deciding on layouts and scenting every nook and cranny. Not my idea of a good time, you know?"
I chuckled at his exaggerated expression. “I get it. Well, you're always welcome to hang out with me.”
Hoseok's face lit up at the offer. “Really? That would be awesome. What are we gonna do then?”
I thought for a moment before suggesting, “How about we watch a movie together? I've got some good stuff lined up on Netflix.”
He nodded eagerly, adjusting his position on the chair. “Sounds perfect. Let's do it.”
As I grabbed the remote and turned on the TV, I chuckled a little remembering his earlier statement.
"Hey, isn't scenting something like a hybrid thing you guys do?” I asked amused
Hoseok chuckled, shaking his head. “Yeah, it's a hybrid thing. We like to mark our territory, so to speak. Having our scent around makes us feel safe and connected to our humans. It's just a natural instinct for us.”
I couldn't help but smile at his explanation. “That's actually really interesting. I'm glad you guys feel at home here.”
He reached out and gently squeezed my hand, his eyes filled with gratitude. “Thanks for accepting us, it means a lot. You've created a place where we can truly belong.”
I felt a warm wave of affection towards him and lightly touched his cheek, feeling the softness of his skin beneath my fingers. Hoseok leaned into my touch, his gaze intense and filled with unspoken emotion.
In that moment, I realized how lucky I was to have him and the rest of the boys in my life.
I headed to my snack cabinet, ensuring it was stocked with all my favorite munchies. With everything in place, I settled into bed with a cozy throw blanket draping over us, snuggling against each other.
Hobi's eyes sparkled with curiosity as he dove into the world of technology. It was as if he was a toddler discovering new wonders, and his enthusiasm was just too adorable to resist. He bombarded me with countless questions, eager to soak up all the knowledge he had missed out on in his life.
We decided to watch a movie and ended up cuddled together, sharing laughs and tears as we got engrossed in different scenes. One movie led to another, and eventually, we found ourselves binge-watching a whole series.
I must have dozed off without realizing it because the next thing I knew, I was slowly waking up to the sensation of multiple bodies around me. As I fully opened my eyes, I saw the TV turned off and my bed occupied by seven grown men.
Despite the surprise, I felt an overwhelming sense of warmth and contentment. It was a rare moment of tranquility.
In that moment, surrounded by those I cared for, I experienced a sense of peace and belonging that I rarely found elsewhere only around my family. It was in those simple moments of togetherness that I felt like a normal 23-year-old girl, just enjoying the company of my boys.
Those moments made me feel complete, as if all the pieces of my scattered self had finally come together. The feeling of contentment washed over me, enveloping me in its comforting embrace. And in that serenity, I found solace and joy in the embrace of my makeshift family.

Heyyy beautiful people!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this Chapter. Writing this one was really special to me because, let's be real, the initial chapters were quite dark. It's been so refreshing to delve into a fluffier side of the story. It's like a breath of fresh air, you know? But hey, don't get too comfy just yet! We still have a long journey ahead before everything falls into place. Heaven and the boys are just getting started, and trust me, there are a lot of surprises and twists waiting to unfold. 🤫🫣
Jungkook's character development is really starting to shine through. I can see him slowly breaking free from his conditioning, revealing his true self. And let's not forget about Jimin, Taehyung, and Yoongi — they're also on their way to embracing their predator hybrid sides. It won't be long before they all fully transform into the powerful beings they were meant to be. 😁🤭
Oh, and can we take a moment to appreciate Hobi's adorable and dramatic personality? He may seem all sunshine and rainbows on the surface, but trust me, there's more to him than meets the eye. Don't let that pretty face and sweet voice fool you! 😏🥴
I'm beyond excited for you all to witness the growth of the hybrids as the story progresses. It's all just brewing under the surface, waiting for the right moment to burst forth. So hang in there, folks! There's so much more excitement to come. 😆
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading and supporting me. Your votes and comments mean everything to me and keep me inspired to keep writing. You all are the best!
Sending you all my love as your favorite AUTHOR-NIM. 😗🥰 I promise to do my best to update sooner, so stay tuned for more developments.

Can you please make a post on How To Create A Good Main Character (hero/antihero)?
Specifically, how to avoid the instance where a secondary character stands out more/is more lovable?
How to create a good main character
Creating a compelling main character, whether they are a hero or an antihero, is crucial for engaging storytelling and capturing readers' imaginations. The protagonist serves as the driving force behind the narrative, and their journey and development shape the overall story arc. To create a good main character, consider the following elements:
Clear Goals and Motivations: Your main character should have well-defined goals and motivations that propel their actions throughout the story. These goals can be external (e.g., saving the world, solving a mystery) or internal (e.g., self-discovery, personal growth). By establishing strong desires and motivations, you give readers a reason to root for and invest in the character's journey.
Complexity and Flaws: A good main character should be multidimensional and have flaws or internal conflicts. Flaws make characters relatable and human, while internal conflicts add depth and complexity to their personality. These imperfections can drive the character's growth and create opportunities for compelling storytelling. You can give your main character a mix of qualities that seem contradictory at first glance. For example, they could be both confident and insecure, compassionate yet prone to anger, or intelligent but plagued by self-doubt. These contradictions create internal tension and intrigue, making the character more complex and realistic. Or you can also show that your main character has vulnerabilities and insecurities beneath their confident exterior. These vulnerabilities can be related to past traumas, fears, or personal weaknesses. By gradually unveiling these hidden vulnerabilities, you create opportunities for character growth and empathy from the reader.
Backstory and Depth: Providing a well-crafted backstory for your main character enhances their depth and allows readers to understand their past experiences, shaping their present identity. Consider their upbringing, past relationships, or significant life events that have influenced their worldview or shaped their personality. This backstory can influence their actions and decisions in the story.
Authenticity and Relatability: The main character should feel authentic and relatable to readers. Create a main character with whom readers can empathize and connect emotionally. Show their vulnerabilities, fears, and insecurities to make them relatable and human. This can also be achieved through realistic dialogue, relatable emotions, and identifiable struggles. By evoking empathy, readers will become emotionally invested in the character's journey and root for their success.
Growth and Development: A strong main character undergoes growth and transformation throughout the story. Allow your main character to face significant challenges and obstacles that require them to grow and evolve. These challenges can push the character out of their comfort zone, test their abilities, and force them to confront their flaws or fears. Through overcoming these obstacles, the character develops resilience, gains new insights, and undergoes personal growth. This character development also allows readers to witness their evolution and creates a sense of satisfaction or catharsis.
Moral Ambiguity: Avoid creating a main character who is purely good or evil. Instead, introduce moral ambiguity by giving them ethical dilemmas or conflicting values. This complexity can generate internal conflicts and force the character to make difficult choices that challenge their own sense of right and wrong. If you're creating an antihero as the main character, you need to consider exploring moral complexity. Antiheroes often possess morally ambiguous qualities, engaging readers by challenging traditional notions of heroism. Balancing their virtuous and flawed aspects can make them intriguing and thought-provoking.
Relationships and Dynamics: The main character's interactions with other characters can illuminate different facets of their personality. Show how their interactions with other characters influence their beliefs, values, and behaviors. As relationships evolve, the character may reveal different aspects of themselves or experience changes in their motivations and loyalties. Well-developed relationships, whether they are friendships, romantic entanglements, or rivalries, can contribute to the main character's growth and provide opportunities for conflict, resolution, or emotional impact.
Consistency and Growth Potential: It is essential to maintain consistency in their core identity and values. Readers should recognize the character's essential traits and motivations throughout the story. This consistency helps them form a bond with the character and creates a sense of authenticity. However, while a main character should have consistent traits and behaviors, there should also be room for growth and change. A compelling main character often goes through an inner journey or transformation alongside the external plot. They may have to confront their own flaws, learn valuable lessons, or undergo a change in their beliefs or values. This inner transformation adds depth and complexity to the character's development and resonates with the readers' own experiences of personal growth. Striking a balance between consistency and growth potential allows the character to maintain their core identity while adapting to the challenges they face.
Unique and Memorable Attributes: Give your main character distinctive qualities that make them stand out in the reader's mind. This could be a unique physical characteristic, a particular skill or talent, or a memorable personality trait. These attributes contribute to the character's individuality and make them memorable long after the story has ended.
External and Internal Conflicts: Introduce conflicts that challenge your main character both externally and internally. External conflicts can come in the form of obstacles, adversaries, or difficult circumstances that the character must overcome. Internal conflicts, on the other hand, delve into the character's inner struggles, such as their fears, doubts, or conflicting desires. Balancing these conflicts adds depth and tension to the character's journey.
Agency and Proactivity: Give your main character agency and the ability to drive the story forward. They should be active participants in their own fate, making choices and taking actions that shape the narrative. Passive characters who merely react to the events around them can be less engaging. Allow your main character to have a degree of control and influence over their destiny.
Inner Journey and Transformation: A compelling main character often goes through an inner journey or transformation alongside the external plot. They may have to confront their own flaws, learn valuable lessons, or undergo a change in their beliefs or values. This inner transformation adds depth and complexity to the character's development and resonates with the readers' own experiences of personal growth.
Subtle Complexity: Avoid creating one-dimensional characters by incorporating subtle layers of complexity. Consider giving your main character conflicting desires, ambiguous morality, or hidden depths. These nuanced qualities make the character more intriguing and provide opportunities for deeper exploration and reader engagement.
How to avoid the instance where a secondary character stands out more/ is more lovable?
Well, It's not uncommon for secondary characters to capture readers' attention and become beloved. However, if you want to ensure that your main character remains the focal point of the story and maintains reader engagement, consider the strategies I mentioned above. There are also some other strategies to keep in mind:
Clear Focus and Development: Give your main character a clear and compelling storyline that allows them to grow, change, and face significant challenges. Ensure that their journey is central to the plot and that their character arc is well-developed. This way, readers will be invested in the main character's progression and more likely to connect with them on a deeper level.
Unique Role and Purpose: Establish the main character's unique role and purpose within the story. Highlight their specific skills, abilities, or knowledge that set them apart from the secondary characters. Make sure that the main character's actions and decisions have a significant impact on the overall narrative, reinforcing their importance and making them indispensable to the story's progression.
Emotional Depth and Relatability: Develop the main character's emotional depth and relatability to forge a strong connection between readers and the character. Show their vulnerabilities, fears, and internal struggles. Allow readers to understand their motivations and experiences, creating empathy and investment in their journey.
Strong Characterization: Craft your main character with distinct and memorable traits, a unique voice, and a well-defined personality. Make sure they have their own quirks, strengths, flaws, and complexities that set them apart. This will help the main character stand out and make them more engaging to readers.
Balanced Screen Time: Ensure that the main character receives an appropriate amount of focus and screen time throughout the story. While secondary characters may have their moments to shine, make sure the main character's presence remains consistent and prominent. Avoid sidelining the main character for extended periods, as this can diminish their impact and reader engagement.
Unique Perspective: Offer readers a unique perspective through the main character's point of view. By delving into their thoughts, emotions, and perceptions of the world, you provide readers with a lens through which they experience the story. This unique perspective can set the main character apart and make them more engaging.
Here is some examples:
In the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, the main character is Scout Finch. While Scout is the central protagonist, her father, Atticus Finch, serves as a beloved secondary character. Atticus is a wise and compassionate lawyer who takes on the defense of a black man falsely accused of rape. He embodies integrity, moral courage, and a strong sense of justice. Atticus is well-respected within the community and serves as a moral compass for Scout and her brother Jem.
Despite Atticus being a beloved character in his own right, the story maintains its focus on Scout's coming-of-age journey. While readers admire and connect with Atticus, it is Scout's perspective, growth, and experiences that drive the narrative forward. Atticus' presence enriches the story, but he doesn't overshadow Scout's development and the central themes of racism and empathy explored through her eyes.
Or in "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Brontë, the main character, Jane Eyre, is an independent and strong-willed woman navigating societal expectations and personal growth. The secondary character of Mr. Rochester, the brooding and complicated love interest, adds depth and complexity to Jane's journey without overshadowing her development. Their relationship provides opportunities for Jane to assert her own values and principles.
In conclusion, secondary characters can add depth and richness to a story, and their popularity is not necessarily a negative aspect. A well-developed main character can coexist with beloved secondary characters as long as the main character remains the driving force of the narrative and maintains a strong connection with readers through their development, challenges, and unique role in the story.
I think if you create a good enough and impressive enough main character, your character will still be loved as usual, no matter how prominent the other characters are.

Krishna: a character adored for over two thousand years, revered as one of the most significant political masterminds of the ancient world with his words forming the philosophical core of the country today. Concurrently, he is the god shrouded in inimitable domesticity- as a friend, a lover, and a child. No other deity in the Hindu pantheon has probably achieved as dear a position in the hearts of people as this flute-wielding cowherd of Gokula.
For generations, he has shined as the muse of countless poetfolk, of unfinished business, of unspoken desires and of repressed lovers' qualms. In Meera's longing for her marble beloved, and in Kothai's dulcet dreams of a celestial wedding, Krishna blossoms not as a warrior, but rather as a confidante of young women- the keeper of all secrets.
Curse, o ye, this wedding of devotion,
For I was better off unmarried,
Writes the lovestruck Nawab Sadiq Hilm,
I was well enough at my mother's;
Oh, why did I pine for him?!
Who am I, or what: go ask Rizwan, the gatekeeper
For heaven has been rejected by my forebearers!
He says, in a nostalgic ode to the cowmaids from old tales. To the ones that massage the dust off their feet on Krishna's fevered forehead to soothe his illness, even as the apparent disrespect dooms their afterlives.
Jayadeva notes a more rugged form of Krishna, one that is almost hungry for love. His Radha smiles down upon Radharaman Dutta's kalankini. Of course, she would accept even infamy if it was in relation to her Krishna. However, in time, this epithet has been reclaimed as a celebration of the meteoric, tempestuous love that this unseemly duo had carved out for themselves of the pages of a mostly unwilling history.
Tagore's Krishna is mysterious, eagerly anticipated but rarely seen. Rather, here Radha's pining is crushing and all-encompassing, inherited from Chandidas' virahini. Radha's guttural desire to transform Krishna into herself, subjecting him to the same suffering that she undergoes as a woman in love with a furious ideology more than a man, reverberates eerily against the lighthearted cross-dressing tale of Surdas'.
As often as bards favour the songs extolling the love of the cowherd and the wedded maiden, Krishna's wives are seldom accorded any thought outside of Vasudeva's family tree. Their silence speaks to the stringent rules of a typical patriarchal household. Some of them do speak, and hence Satyabhama becomes conceited and Kalindi wayward. However, the mere few lines that they are mercifully allotted in the text are enough to speak to their resilience. The lines inadvertently hold up a window to the million unspoken words and unexchanged glances. It speaks to the long years, happy and sad. It speaks to the nights of waiting for the beloved to return. It speaks to the quiet lunches in curtained rooms and taste tests in the kitchen.
Each of Krishna's eight wives has their own life, and their own equation with Krishna. Each of their distinct personalities, coupled with their unique introductions to the prince has the potential to bring a distinct flavour to the story of Krishna, the statesman. The understanding that Krishna's heart belonged first to Vrindavana and then to his ambition, must have weighed somewhat on their hearts and yet, the choice to patch up the battle-hardened cowherd, after every blow, sans complaint, and send him out into the world as the architect of history, must have demanded restraint.
The distinct turn of events that brings each of the chief eight queens to Krishna's is quite interesting. Rukmini, the first, demonstrates heart, even if it is born out of desperation. Seizing control of her life, she sends a message, relying solely on rumours of his compassion. Her gamble yields returns manifold as Krishna not only rescues her from an unwanted marriage, but instates her as his chief consort, elevating her, alongside himself, to a divine status. Far from the impulsiveness of her youth, Pandhari's Rakhumai, astute beside her beloved, proudly bears a conch-shell, calling for harmony and community. In life as well, Rukmini brings to Krishna much needed stability, and oversees the blossoming of the city of Dwarika as well as Krishna's growing household.
Jambavati and Satyabhama are given in marriage to the prince by their respective fathers and do not seem to have much of a voice at the time. Jambavati fulfills an ancient destiny, a forgotten promise, then going on to mother the child that ultimately brings about the demise of the Yadava clan. Satyabhama, though often maligned with unfair accusations, is self-reliant. Making no attempt to hide herself from the eye of society, takes her rightful place beside Krishna, not on a throne, but by his side in battlefields. Kalindi however, is an extremely interesting character in Krishna's story. Enmeshed between mortal and divine, she exists as neither. Chancing upon the prince, she unabashedly declares her intentions to be married, and yet she is uncharacteristically silent after her marriage. Lakshmana and Mitravinda, are both won in conquest. They might have been able to sympathize with Rukmini, given their kin had turned against them, on account of their choice of a life partner. Bhadra, on the other hand, has no fancy contests to boast of, or an adventurous rescue. She marries Krishna at the behest of her brother, the only highlight being the arduous journey she undertakes from Kekaya to Dwarika.
After their marriages, these women practically disappear from the narrative until their last moments. We can assume that they were all presumably content with a life outside the spotlight. One can only hope to be privy to their lives after marriage, to know their dreams, nightmares and daily chores. They enter Krishna's life at crucial junctions, and I choose to believe they each had a unique effect on Krishna's worldview, bringing with them a fresh outlook into the mostly stagnant golden city.

I FINALLY MADE A CHARACTER SHEET FOR MY SONIC OC!!!! Mostly because I had a design assignment about character creation and I just had to use them. Anyways, meet Vega the Hedgehog!!! More info about them below ;)
Name- Vega the Hedgehog
Age- 19
Pronouns- they/them
Sexuality- aromantic/ bicurious
Height: 85 cm
Vega is a Desert Hedgehog who belongs to the Sonic Universe. They are rowdy, vigorous, brazen, daring and loves to test their skills in the field. Their only “friend” is Jesper the Wolf, who recruited them as her side agent. They still wear the ankle cuffs from when the G.U.N agents tried to arrest them. It reminds them how they can never be free from those who want to use their strength for themselves. They also wear the ear tag that was used in the underground fighting rings since it was the only identity you were ever given as a contender.
They were introduced to the fighting world at a young age when their parents saw potential in their skills and a possible wealthy future, for them at least. They drafted Vega in fighting rings and competitions and gained their way into top ranks. Their parents eventually gave up Vega, now a teenager, to an organization who made them a “freelance soldier” who would fight anyone for one’s desires. Four years later, the organization was breached by the Guardian Unit of Nations (G.U.N) and everyone in the area was arrested, however Vega fought back. After taking interest in Vega’s resilience, Jesper the Wolf, a high ranked G.U.N agent who is overseeing this operation, decides to make them as her side agent so their skill wouldn’t go to waste.

Within the bustling corridors of SHIELD, Y/N navigated the ebb and flow of her new life. The camaraderie among her colleagues provided a sense of belonging, yet there were moments when the shadows of her past cast a subtle veil over her determination.
One evening, after a demanding mission, Bucky approached her with a reassuring smile. "You held your ground out there, Y/N. Impressive."
A grateful smile graced her lips. "Thanks, Bucky. But sometimes, it feels like my past is a shadow I can't escape."
Understanding flickered in Bucky's eyes. "I've been down that road. You're not alone now. We're a team."
Days turned into weeks, and Y/N faced challenges that tested her resilience. Bucky, a steadfast presence, offered encouragement and shared his own experiences of triumph over inner demons. He reminded her that strength flourished in vulnerability.
Strolling through the helicarrier's corridors one day, Y/N confessed, "Finding someone who gets it is rare."
Bucky chuckled warmly. "Life surprises you, and you're one of the good surprises, Y/N."
Rooftop conversations became a haven where words flowed freely, carried away by the night breeze. It was during one of these moments that Y/N, vulnerability in her gaze, expressed gratitude.
"You make the load feel lighter," she admitted.
Bucky's response was a reassuring smile. "We're in this together, Y/N."
Struggles persisted, and Y/N found herself wrestling with the demons of her past in moments of solitude. Despite her efforts, the haunting echoes threatened to undermine her progress. Bucky, keenly observant, noticed the subtle changes in her demeanor.
In the helicarrier's kitchen, shared meals became a ritual of companionship. Bucky, sensing her struggles, became an unwavering pillar of support.
However, the weight of her past sometimes proved too heavy, and Y/N's attempts to articulate her pain often ended in frustrated silences.
"You're trying too hard to carry it all alone," Bucky gently remarked one evening, his eyes reflecting concern.
Y/N sighed, her shoulders slumping. "I just don't want to burden anyone."
Bucky shook his head, "We're a team, remember? You're not a burden, Y/N. Let us help carry the load."
Despite her efforts to make it work, Y/N found herself grappling with feelings of inadequacy. In the face of mission failures or personal setbacks, she retreated into a self-imposed isolation, convinced that her struggles were a testament to her perceived shortcomings.
One day, as they walked through the helicarrier's corridors, Bucky gently nudged her shoulder. "You're not defined by your mistakes, Y/N. You're defined by how you rise from them."
His words lingered, sinking into the recesses of her heart. Y/N realized that her journey toward healing wasn't a straight path. It was a maze of ups and downs, and Bucky was there, a guiding presence in the labyrinth of her uncertainties.
As they faced new challenges, Y/N's struggles persisted, but so did Bucky's unwavering support. In moments of doubt, he became the anchor that steadied her, the voice of reason that countered the whispers of self-criticism.
One evening, after a particularly trying mission, Y/N again found herself on the rooftop. Instead of bearing the weight alone this time, she turned to Bucky with a vulnerability that transcended words.
He listened, not with judgment but with a genuine understanding that only someone who had walked a similar path could provide.
"You don't have to have it all figured out, Y/N," Bucky reassured her. "We're all works in progress. And you're doing better than you think."
As the helicarrier hummed with activity around them, Y/N felt a shift within herself. Bucky's support, coupled with the realization that she didn't have to navigate the journey alone, infused her with a renewed sense of resilience.
Their friendship, born amidst struggles, became a testament to the transformative power of genuine connection. Y/N's path, once marked by solitary footsteps, now had the imprint of a companion who shared both the highs and lows.
In their shared moments, amidst laughter and shared vulnerabilities, Y/N discovered that the journey toward healing wasn't a destination to reach but a continual growth process.
With Bucky by her side, the echoes of her past became softer, replaced by the harmonious notes of a friendship that thrived in the face of adversity.
And so, within the heart of SHIELD, where the complexities of duty met the warmth of camaraderie, Y/N and Bucky continued navigating life's intricacies.
Their friendship, a symphony of shared struggles and unwavering support, played on a melody that resonated with the promise of brighter tomorrows.
