shawdies i’m sorry i been gone. four hour daily german is killing me. i’m in A2 now, and i need to start getting more energy to get work done after class. today i just passed out. like gymming 5 days a week and 9am classes is mad exhausting but i’m good!

The hard part about journaling: forgetting to do it 😓 I decided I wanted to practice my german this evening, so i opened my drawer of resources and started looking through. Decided to take a look at my journal and see what was in there, turned to the bookmarked page to see I completely forgot about the “Ein Satz pro Tag” challenge i made for myself. I’ve missed most of March! Haven’t even made the header or numbers in pen! Funny thing is, the last time I wrote in it was March 8th and the sentence is “Heute schreibe ich “Ein Satz pro Tag” von 18.02 bis 08.03” because i forgot about it in February too!

Truth is journaling is still new to me and not a habit I have. it’s hard to keep up with. I do have a log I keep for every day, marking how I’ve interacted with German (studying, listening, reading, etc).

I made this challenge to get comfortable using more complex language, and to talk about my day. I am okay with not writing in it every day, but i Do want a sentence for each day. Whether I write that sentence the day of or a week later doesn’t matter to me. The “rules” I set for myself are simple:

One sentence for each day of the year

Sentences are entirely from my own head (no outside help)

No corrections the same day as writing. I’ll go through when I’ve learned more and correct them

No repeat sentences

Anyways, i’ll get the hang of this sometime. For now though, I have 2 weeks of sentences to think up 👍 (and if anyone has any tips for a forgetful neurodivergent brain…)

30/100 days of productivity

it's been a month of productivity!!! I didn't do much today (as is the case with most days when I'm home) but I did compile my German notes into a fancy little excel sheet for better understanding. I also updated my bujo for the week (it's pink in honour of barbie xD).

In the evening, mum and I went to the mall to do some window shopping but eventually we got bored and just bought some groceries and returned home.

In addition to this, the people I emailed regarding my bioinformatics queries replied and their emails managed to ease my anxiety about the future while also giving me a lot of clarity. (and they're both so cool!!!)

Also, my favorite desi comedian is going on tour and he's performing in my city soon!! the show is quite expensive and it's only in November but I somehow managed to get the tickets!! ahhh I'm so excited, I really hope nothing comes up on that day

yep, thats how my day went, I'm really supposed to be doing my proteogenomics extra credit work but idk, there's there's much resistance around it, maybe I'll find a study partner to do it with hmm

December 4th

We made our flat advent wreath yesterday! We were a week late but it was hard to schedule last week. Happy we did make it this week though. Also made my December bujo spread and had some nice coffee

What is your favourite holiday tradition

Hmm that's a difficult one, because I enjoy a lot of aspects. I used to struggle with loneliness when I first moved out during this period, but now I've made lovely connections. I think my flat advent wreath binding and flat advent calendar are amongst my favourite. As is baking cookies with friends. And one of my absolute favourite things about Christmas is singing German Christmas carols with my fam and the food ofc

Yesterday's gratitude log:

1. I had a productive day yesterday and I'm proud of that

2. I played some video games with one of my best friends who moved away for half a year. It was really nice catching up with him

3. Spending the afternoon with my flatmates was fun, as always

Wednesday, May 11th

My current bullet journal spreads for the month of May and last week!

5 years back, when I just started journaling my bujo was a mess of stickers and washi tapes and all that stuff. (not saying that’s bad, it just doesn’t work for me personally <3) Now it’s much more practical with a few decorations on the side. And I keep it in a mix of German and English, feels much more natural than deciding on either language!

Gestern habe ich angefangen auf Deutsch zu schreiben.

Yesterday I started writing in German.

Finally working on my goal of writing my thoughts out in German. I’m practicing using full sentences that are more complex.

The rest of February is a bit busy as a friend is visiting and I’m not sure how I’ll keep up with my studies yet, but maybe instead I’ll be able to practice speaking with them.
