Prompt 92
Clockwork is done.
Screw the observants’ rules, screw the ‘you can’t enter the mortal realms’ demand they try. He is going to have words with the speedsters about timelines and travelling through timestreams. He is not missing his ghostling’s highschool graduation and if there’s even a chance of that horrible thing happening he will make it everyone else’s problem!

Once Upon A Broken Heart Quote Rp Meme
Tumblr media
“Heroes don't get happy endings. They give them to other people.”
“Hope is a difficult thing to kill, just a spark of it can start a fire.”
“If you think I'm jealous because someone else got to stab you, then you're right.”
“I’d give you the world if I could. The moon, stars, and all the suns in the universe. Anything for you, my heart”
“I don't know if I can fix your broken heart, but you can take mine because it's already yours.”
“So you're saying you'd settle for a boring romance if it ends well?"
"Yes. I would gladly take an uneventful happily ever after.”
“I'm not going to tell you to trust me, because that's a terrible idea.”
“I believe there are far more possibilities than happily ever after or tragedy. Every story has the potential for infinite endings.”
“You don't want to be the hero, you want the happy ending- that's why you came to me. If you do this, that will never happen. Heroes don't get happy endings. They give them to other people. Is that what you really want?”
“Having faith was brave.”
“Would you like me to stand up and turn around so that you can take in the rest of me?”
“All stories are made of both truths and lies, [...] What matters is the way that we believe in them.”
"He just said sexy scars,Are you really listening to this?”
“But you have to have a working heart for it to break.”
“The fates weren't dangerous because they were evil; the fates were dangerous because they couldn't tell the difference between evil and good.”
“I'll never understand humans. All of you seem to welcome our lies, but you never like it when we tell the truth.”
“Regret was the worst.Regret was sour and bitter, and it tasted so close to the truth she had to fight sinking into it.”
“ He wasn't her weakness- love was. Not even just love but the idea of it.”
'Exactly what you asked.'I made sure the wedding didn't happen.”
“I know that stories often take on lives of their own. I already feel as if the horror I went through is turning into a fairytale, but I am nothing special, and this is not a fairytale.”
“It's not what I did, Little Fox. It's what you've done.”
“And then they will write their vows on their hands and place them over each other’s chests, so they may sink into their hearts, where they will be kept safe forever and always.”
“I'm curious about a lot of things. I'm curious about you, but I don't want you to bite me!"
“ You are still indescribably breathtaking, but it was all the tragic beauty of a sky where every single star was falling.”
“Every story has the potential for infinite endings”
"Hurt is what made me.”
she wanted love like her parents, love like a story.”
She made it seem like an adventure, as if every moment were the start of a story with endless possibilities.”
"I've already done that, Little Fox.”
“Stop flashing your fangs. I’m the only one who gets to bite her.”
“Or have you already forgotten the way heartbreak rips apart the soul piece by piece, how it turns you into a masochist, making you long for the thing that just eviscerated you until there's noting left of you to be destroyed?”
“For finding dreams that don't exist yet.”
“This young man was going to ruin the girl that worked inside the shop.”
“Always promise less than you can give, for Fates always take more. Do not make bargains with more than one Fate. And, above all, never fall in love with a Fate.”
“Don't be dazzled. You're useless to me as a vampire."
"Well, let's hope I don't decide I'd rather be a vampire than be useful to you.”
“the churches here were like vampires—they weren’t meant for worship, they were designed to entice and entrap.”
“You’re the Prince of Hearts.”
she imagined she could have sliced into that night as if it were a cake and stolen a piece of it to take a bite of all the wondrous dark.”
“Now, that was a pathetic speech.”
“... it was tremendously hard to fully fall out of love with someone when you had no one else to love instead,”
“You make an excellent murder suspect. Orphan, turned savior, turned bride, turned killer—I’m actually surprised that wasn’t his headline today.”
“She could picture him flashing those deceptive dimples as he tricked an angel into losing its wings just so he could play with the feathers.”
Comforting someone was an intimate thing, and according to the stories, intimacy didn't end well with him.But he clearly knew how to be gentle.”
“And you’re praying to an immortal who kills every girl he kisses. You really think he deserves any reverence?”
“Then why didn’t she die?”
“Probably because my heart started beating,”
“She wanted to be someone's love, not their curse.”
“He looked like a bad decision some unfortunate person was about to make.”
“They said his kiss was fatal to all but her—his only weakness—and as he’d sought her, he’d left a trail of corpses.”
“Or maybe she just likes me more than she likes you."
"She hates me,So even if she likes you more, that's not saying very much.”
“I’m here because my parents are dead.”
“There was something fantastically bewitching about the idea that a person's destiny could change in one single night.”
“Chaos tilted his head, eyes landing on their intertwined hands. “
“who shared bits of their magic with this book.”
“Luck had nothing to do with it,”
“Just love him the same way you live your life—love him without holding back, love him as if every day with him will be more magical than the last, love him as if he’s your destiny and the world will be better if you two are together, and he won’t be able to ever stop loving you.”
“What would have been was a question that no one ever knew the answer to.”
“But there were reasons powerful emotions didn't vanish in a blink, reasons why a person had to become stronger than her feelings to let them go.”
“If you're trying to warn me away, you don't have to worry,"
“He held on to her as if she were a grudge, his body rigid and tense, as if he really didn’t want her there, and yet his arms were tight around her waist as though he had no intention of ever letting her go.”
“I’m not going to tell you to trust me, because that’s a terrible idea. But you can believe that if I were going to have you harm Apollo, I wouldn’t be around when it happened.”
“I'd give you the world if I could. The moon, the stars, and all the suns in the universe. Anything for you, my heart.”
Fear only excites them, Little Fox.”
That’s funny. I was about to tell you the same thing.”
“Stay away from her,”

OPM Manga Update 210 Review: Absolute Evil
Story
The story opens with a whisper as menacing as the sibilant hiss of an angry snake. At a glance, the cover tells us what there is to know. God in his lunar peeping hole beaming approvingly down at his latest avatar as Garou comes striding out of the sea. The perfectly mirrored waves add to the unnaturalness of it and the skeletal remains of fish, birds, and mammals frame the lower half of the image, heralding only destruction.
Tumblr media
The events of the story back it up. The Narrator is back; I generally don't welcome him but today he's got some contextual information worth having. Straightaway we learn that Garou's parlayed his miraculous talent for learning and Bang's teachings on utilizing the flow of energy into acquiring the very flow of the universe.
And what does he use it for? Cure cancer? As if! There's a pesky baldy to attack! He starts barraging Saitama with a flurry of fists, each of which literally splits atoms and creates a massive explosion. Over on the stranded warship, the automated decontamination procedures have started, indicating that this is no drill: those really are nuclear blasts going off. Sufficiently far away not to be shredded, but close enough to feel the wash, the heroes are buffeted by the dust, spray, and wind. A tattered Psykos watches with wonder at the size of those balls (no pun intended). Alas, its only effect is to annoy Saitama as his clothes are tattered.
Tumblr media
I say alas because Garou ups the ante in the creepiest way. He has never asked Saitama his name and knows him only as the overpowered bald guy, but suddenly, here we are with Saitama's face looking out of the hole in Garou's face, calling him Saitama.
Tumblr media
And then he mirrors Saitama's Consecutive Normal Punches perfectly, culminating with them punching each other in the face. They're both knocked into the sea and come back up. Saitama looks at his glove and notes that he's got a bit of a nosebleed, which makes him a little regretful that he's not kept his promise to Tareo in that regard. Not that he has time to worry about it because Garou does even worse: he powers up and unleashes something horrible. Seeing what's going to happen, Saitama jumps up so that he, and not the planet, can receive the brunt of the gamma ray burst that comes shooting out. Saitama is swept away...
Tumblr media
...leaving the field clear for Garou to indulge in his favourite obsession: tormenting heroes. He loved doing it when he didn't have that much power and now that he does, oh ho ho ho, is he here to show them. Glowing with high-energy radiation, he appears before them and all gathered know that this is Very Bad News Indeed.
Tumblr media
The Blizzard Group and Tank Toppers start to flee in terror, the S-Class heroes look transfixed with horror, but what's this? One lone figure is crawling towards the dread apparition. It's Bang, and he asks Garou what's happened to him, who has done this to him? To which Garou recounts his conversion story before thanking Bang for all his help in training him to prepare him for his destiny. Mentally bidding Tareo goodbye, Garou walks forward to cause what despair he can.

Yes, Genos is alive and (sorta) safe. He's even with it, following Saitama's actions up in the heavens with extreme interest. You can stop bugging Murata now.
Tumblr media
Puri Puri is also accounted for and he's not sneaking off somewhere to do unspeakable things to heroes who aren't in a position to defend themselves.
Heh, you gotta love what fans latch onto.
This image also inserted to stop fans bugging me
Yes, Flashy Flash has taken a liking to Manako and won't let her come to any harm.
Tumblr media
...more cynically, you can just hear the *clink* of wineglasses as ONE and Murata toast the successful launch of another line of plushies...
You get leukemia, and you get leukemia, and you get leukemia -- you ALL get leukemia!
With all due apologies to Oprah, Garou is literally toxic right now as he spews radiation everywhere. I would have loved to see a reveal of his 'life annihilation fist' technique to be just him being edgy but the Godz Okkie and its crew know a thing or two about nukes but nothing about Garou and have no reason to play along -- it's as bad as it sounds.
Garou's pretend evil is pretense no longer: turns out that when you knock on enough doors asking to see the Devil, he eventually answers. God (no ID) is not to be mocked; Garou pretending to be taken in but slapping His hand away was all He needed.
There's a great parallel between Garou and Homeless Emperor in what God told them. He has no interest in micro-managing his avatars. Instead, He likes to find unstable individuals, grant them catastrophic power, sit back and enjoy the chaos.
Tumblr media
Garou believes himself fully in control of himself and his abilities, but as he advances, only death emanates from him. Like the cover image of a toxic slick poisoning all in its wake, Garou isn't just going to be punching heroes, he's poisoning them too. I thought God (no ID) simply didn't like human beings, but it looks like He's not too careful of the Earth either. Maybe when you can see a billion years into the future like it's next week, the loss of all complex life on a planet is a mere hiccup as new forms will inevitably re-evolve and fill the new ecological niches.
A lot of people ask how One-Punch Man is not a shonen, and it's this: the story is not about how to get what you want. Oh no, no, no. If you chase after it, you will almost certainly catch whatever it was you were after. The real story in OPM is how do you live with what you wanted? And that's a very adult problem, even if it's often cast in fantastical terms. Beefcake's lament is a potted cautionary tale that repeats across the story:
Tumblr media
Garou wanted to be the Symbol of Fear? Well, he's got it. At the cost of destroying everything that made it worth his while to seek to be that symbol in the first place.
The S-Class heroes don't look like they're going to run, but they know it's hopeless. Someone needs to stop him before he destroys life on Earth. Blast? Saitama? Anybody?

Robin Them Blind
Master Post, Chapter Seven
CHAPTER EIGHT: THE PUZZLE OF LIFE
The next day came and Kid Flash was returning from school, putting his hood over his head and a medical mask on. It was his normal disguise while in civilian clothes while needing to be Kid Flash.
"Hey, Willy!" a male student from behind called out, throwing a rock at his head.
"It's Wally, not Willy."
"What's with the getup?" the guy laughed along with his friends who were with him, "Going out to sell some drugs or something, Willy?"
He rolled his eyes. "Wouldn't you like to know?"
"Actually, we would." one guy said as they all surrounded him.
Wally tensed up. "Well, it's not your business."
"Whatcha hiding, Willy?" they asked threateningly.
"Why do you care? And it's Wally, not Willy. Stop calling me that."
"I think Willy suits you better," they laughed.
"Stop it!"
"Aw, you know you like us calling you Willy." they teased while getting closer to him.
He took a step back. "I don't."
He stepped back, bumping into another guy behind him. "Come on, Willy." he grinned and punched his fists together, "Give us the goods."
"What goods?" He took another step back.
"Whatever you've got." he pushed him to another guy to grab him by his backpack.
Wally struggled and got his backpack off. One guy looked through his backpack while the others tossed Wally around at each other. There wasn't any drugs or anything, just a box of chocolates in a heart shaped box and a single rose that was kept in a clear plastic container to preserve it.
The guy laughed as opened up the box of chocolates. "Aw, does little Willy have a date tonight?" he teased.
"Those aren't for you!" Wally tried to grab them, his freckled cheeks red.
The guy lifted the box higher than he could reach. "Too late." he laughed.
Wally huffed. "Give them back!"
"Not a chance, Willy."
"If he said give them back, it means give them back," a familiar voice came out in a small distance.
Wally's eyes widened and he looked over towards the voice. Relief washed over him.
Robin jumped from the building above and landed behind the guy with the chocolates. He grabbed his arm holding the sweets and swung him thirty feet away. Instantly the rest of his friends were frightened and started to run away. "Yeah, you better run!" he shouted at them, "And if you try doing this again you'll regret it!"
Wally watched him. "Wow." He picked up the fallen box of sweets. "Some of them didn't make it."
Robin watched the bullies run away and huffed. He really felt like going after them and beating them some more, but he knew he shouldn't. He felt Wally gently tap his shoulder. He blinked awake and quickly turned around. He was still wearing his every day costume.
"Hey. Thank you. It's greatly appreciated."
Robin nodded. "It was no problem. Actually, it shouldn't have been a problem for you either." he said, confused.
"I know... I just... I've always been the weak link here. They've been picking on me since I was eight, so if I suddenly fought back and actually won, it might be problematic."
"You've literally got powers though! You could beat them in 2.3 seconds and get away before they even realized it!"
"Robin, it's not that black and white. If I used my superpowers, he would know who I am. Then he would target my friends and family."
"They're just high school bullies!" he sighed, "It's like Sla- I mean, my mentor told me, we train so I can take care of myself in the real world!"
"Robin." He put his hand on his shoulder. "I know you don't like it, but that's how it is for me. I'm a hero after school and off campus."
Robin looked at his hand and then back at him. "I just wanted you to be-" he paused for a second before realizing what he was about to say. He never felt like this for anyone and even just thinking of it felt weird. "To be... s-safe..."
"I've got accelerated healing, nothing they do to me will do permanent damage. I can protect myself if it gets out of hand." Wally put his forehead against Robin's. "I promise. I know what I'm doing."
Robin blushed darkly and slowly nodded. "If you say so."
"I do say so. Now, you ready?"
"Ready for what?"
"Our date."
"Is it that time already?" he asked and checked his watch.
"The only open slot for the movie was around three."
Robin nodded. "Alright then."
"Do you want me to carry you or no?"
Robin blinked and backed up with a chuckle. "Wh- what?"
"Carry you. Like, I pick you up and run."
"You can't do that." he laughed.
"And why's that?" He leaned forward. "Am I not strong enough for you?"
"Well..." Robin continued to slowly back away, "Yeah?"
"Is something wrong, Robin?"
He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Eheh, no, nothing."
"That's okay." Wally held out his hand. "We can just walk and hold hands. If you're comfortable with that, of course."
Robin nodded and took it. "That's alright."
He smiled. "So, the movie is called Elementals."
"Elementals?"
"Yeah. I heard it's really cute."
He nodded. "Sounds good."
Wally smiled and squeezed his hand. "I think you'll like it."
Robin blushed lightly. "If you say so."
"I do." Wally jumped over a crack, very clearly happy.
Robin watched him and chuckled. "You really are childish."
"But you still like me~" he sang.
Robin blushed darker and couldn't find what to say. "I- uh..."
"You wouldn't have agreed to a date otherwise."
Kid Flash trusted him fully. Why did that hurt so much?
"R- right..." he mumbled and stared down at the floor, feeling something he never felt before. Actually, it's been a while since he felt any sort of emotions at all. Not until he started his spy mission. What was this feeling he felt? Was it some kind of guilt? Some feeling of shame? If it was something as simple as that, why did his heart ache a bit?
He stole a glance at Wally. He looked so joyful as he skipped along, swinging their hands. It made him giggle. Another feeling he hadn't felt in ages. He was about to say something but was quickly cut off by strong sting of shock hitting his body. It hurt like hell, making him stop and scream for a moment.
Wally let go of his hand, feeling the shock. "Robin?"
Robin clutched his head and grunted in pain until it disappeared. He huffed for a second to catch his breath and slowly nodded. "I- I'm fine."
"You aren't. What was that?"
He shook his head and slowly rested his arms. "It's just another headache. I'll be alright."
"But... there was a shock."
"No," he lied, "I didn't feel anything; you must've stepped on something."
"I didn't step on anything that would've caused a feeling of shock."
"Well, there was nothing," he assured.
"Do you not trust me?"
Robin's eyes widened and quickly shook his head. "NO!" he exclaimed, sounding scared at that idea, "No, no, no, it's nothing like that!"
"Please just tell me what's wrong then. I'm not going to get angry."
Robin closed his eyes and shook his head, trying to think of something quick. "No, no," he mumbled, "I can't."
Kid Flash sighed, letting it go. "Okay. I won't push."
In his mind, Robin felt relief but his heart only felt more guilt. He could only think of one thing to do to make him forget the topic.
Robin quickly grabbed Kid Flash's arm and pulled him close to connect their lips together. Kid Flash's eyes widened before they shut as he kissed back. A hand moved to rest on the back of Robin's head.
Though it was supposed to be merely a distraction, the event also caught Robin off guard and his mind started to melt at the feeling. This feeling was different. But it felt so good. Kid Flash's lips felt like the piece of the puzzle that was life. All he could think of was never wanting to let go.
He let out a small whine when Kid Flash pulled away after what felt like eternity in a second. He slowly opened his eyes, his face flushed with red.
"Unexpected, but not unwanted," Kid Flash mumbled.
"Huh?" Robin asked after shaking himself back awake.
"The kiss. It was unexpected, but it was not unwanted."
"Is... that a good thing?" he asked nervously.
"It's a very good thing."
Robin blinked and grinned. "You're welcome then."
Robin blushed and shuttered at the delightful feeling. "H- happy to be of service?"
"You liked it too, right?"
Robin blushed even more and gently felt his own lips. "M- maybe..." he mumbled.
"I'm glad."
Robin nodded and checked his watch. "Let's hurry to catch the movie."
Kid Flash blinked then nodded. "Of course. Let's go."
Robin grabbed his hand again and looked away to not seem interested though he really was. Kid Flash held his hand as they walked to the theaters. They eventually got to the movies and made it just in time to get some popcorn before the movie started.
"We missed the trailers," Kid Flash whispered.
"Trailers?" Robin asked, "As in those vehicle homes?"
"No. They're ads for other movies."
He blinked. "How many movies are there?"
"A lot."
"Huh."
"I'm surprised that you didn't know that."
"I, uhh.." he chuckled awkwardly, "I don't remember the last time I saw a movie."
"Oh. That's okay." Kid Flash pointed to the screen. "It's starting."
Robin nodded and faced the screen. He didn't seem to realize or even care that some people there were staring at him. The screen was full of colorful figures in a world that had so many details. It was so vastly different from the black and white words Robin had grown up seeing.
He put a hand over his eyes and squinted a bit. "Geez, how bright is this screen." he mumbled to himself.
"The sounds are loud too, just so you know."
He nodded, "thanks for the heads up."
"Of course."
They watched the movies and Kid Flash noticed that Robin hadn't grabbed any of the popcorn that they bought.
He held the bucket out. "Have some," he whispered quietly.
Robin looked at it and then back at him. "What is it?"
"Popcorn. It's really good."
Robin seemed skeptical but he grabbed a few and put it in his mouth. It surprisingly tasted familiar though he couldn't remember from where. He liked how it tasted.
"Thanks." he whispered.
"Of course. I've gotta go to the bathroom." Kid Flash stood up and kissed his forehead.
Robin blushed and nodded. "Alright. Be safe."
"I will." He left the room and went to the bathroom.
Just as he finished up in the restroom, a familiar voice came up from behind him.
"Kid Flash." Raven's voice called out to him.
Kid Flash blinked and looked at her. "Raven? What are you doing here?"
"I came to open your eyes, Kid Flash," Raven said as she approached him, "Robin isn't who you think he is."
His eyes widened. "Raven. He's not a bad person. He... just grew up sheltered."
"Kid Flash, you need to wake up and notice the signs," she said sternly, "Not everything he says about himself adds up. And every time he seems to actually be telling the truth about who he is, he acts all weird."
"He's... I don't... he can't be a traitor, Raven," he was clearly in denial.
She sighed. "I know you like him. And it's going to hurt. But if we don't do something, everyone, maybe even the whole city, could get hurt."
"I won't let him hurt the city." He looked down.
"You can't be sure of that. He could be more powerful than what he's revealed to us."
"I know he's strong." Kid Flash shut his eyes. "But... he won't... he wouldn't hurt me... right?"
"I didn't want to have to come to this," Raven sighed heavily, "But you need to know that I looked through your room the other day and found a hidden camera. There could be a bunch of them all around the tower and we don't know who's been spying on us."
"Why were— a camera?"
Raven nodded. "Yes."
"And how do you know he put it in?"
"Who else would've put a hidden camera there?"
"I don't know..." He rubbed his arm. "I... he couldn't... is he doing...? I can't."
"You can't what?"
"I can't believe that."
"Well you're going to have to or you're putting the entire city at stake."
He sighed and looked at her, his eyes full of tears. "I know it's life or death thing, but you don't understand."
"We can't make stupid decisions with things like this, Kid Flash," she said strictly, "We're heroes. He's a-"
"He's a hero too," he interrupted. "I-I just know he is. Maybe he's getting threatened or something, but he's not a bad person deep down."
"How can we be sure?"
"I don't know..." Kid Flash admitted softly. "But I know he's not a bad person, deep down. I've seen how scared he sometimes seems. There's some kind of shock, I've felt it."
"Shock?"
"We were holding hands, and he giggled. Then something shocked him, I could feel it. He brushed it off as a headache."
"Hm." Raven thought for a moment and sighed, "We can give him a test."
"Is it going to hurt him?"
"No. It'll be a simple lie detector test. But, it might hurt you."
Kid Flash sighed. "I'll keep my emotions out of things."
"Good." Raven nodded and turned around, "And just know, Kid Flash, I'm doing this for your own good."
"I know."
She nodded and created a portal to leave.
He watched her leave then sighed. "Lovely."

[Two Pokémon are exploring a cave dungeon filled with many waterfalls and ponds. They are a Lucario, Lenneth, and a Hippopotas, Gyro.
Turning a corner, they would see a wild Feebas floating over the ground and towards them. With one Quick Attack, Lenneth rushes up to the Feebas and kicks it down onto the ground, defeating it with one move. Then, Lenneth watches the Feebas's body flash in and out of existence before disappearing entirely.]
[Lenneth] "That still looks weird."
[Gyro] "That's just how dungeons work."
[The two continue to walk through the halls.]
[Lenneth] "How much longer till floor fifteen?"
[Gyro] "Just one more floor."
[Lenneth sighs with relief.]
[Lenneth] "Braixen's going to be so happy when we're done with this."
[Gyro, thoughts] "(You always say that, no matter who we're helping.)"
[They would eventually find the staircase and descend into the floor their request is located on.
There, they would find their target: a den of Morgrem with a Grimmsnarl as their leader.]
[Grimmsnarl] "Well, look what we got here, boys."
[The Morgrem stop whatever they're doing and look at Lenneth.]
[Lenneth] "Prepare to eat dust, criminal! I'm taking you down!"
[The Grimmsnarl chortles.]
[Grimmsnarl] "We got ourselves a wannabe hero, here."
[The Grimmsnarl leans forward and huffs a bit.]
[Grimmsnarl] "Kid, you're going to regret ever stepping inside of here."
[The Grimmsnarl then flicks his head back.]
[Grimmsnarl] "Get 'em, bo-"
[Suddenly, the entire group is hit with a massive shock that makes them immobile. Lenneth looks around, confused by what just happened.]
[Gyro] "Phew. The Foe-Hold orb still works."
[Lenneth looks to Gyro, who was holding a broken Wonder Orb.]
[Lenneth] "Oh, that's right. Forgot we had one of those."
[Gyro exhales through his nose and looks with mild disappointment.]
[Lenneth] "Come on, let's beat him up!"
[While Lenneth runs towards the Grimmsnarl, Gyro stomps down on the ground, causing rocks to shoot upwards and pile down on them in a Rock Tomb. Then, once Lenneth gets close enough to the Grimmsnarl, his hand paws gain Metal Claws and he starts scratching down on the large enemy. The Morgrems could do nothing but watch as their leader was chipped away claw by claw, unlike Gyro, who didn't have any other way to contribute besides watching over Lenneth.
A while later, the two are standing in the board room of the guild as Chief Magnezone stands in front of the Outlaw Notice Board. Behind him is the Grimmsnarl they fought being held in place by two Magnetons.]
[Chief Magnezone] "ZZZT! We are thankful for your efforts in capturing the criminal Grimmsnarl. I have already given your reward to your guildmaster. As always, we are grateful for your efforts."
[Lenneth] "You're welcome, chief."
[Chief Magnezone] "We look forward to working with you in the future."
[Chief Magnezone buzzes and signals to his coworkers before they all take the Grimmsnarl away.]
[Lenneth] "Another job well done."
[Gyro, thoughts] "(3… 2… 1…)"
[A Braixen runs into the room.]
[Braixen] "Lenneth!"
[Lenneth] "Brittany!
[The Braixen stops in front of Lenneth and holds her hands together.]
[Brittany] "Did you really take down that Grimmsnarl?"
[Lenneth] "Yep. It was no sweat."
[Brittany's eyes appear to glitter with awe.]
[Brittany] "Wow! So cool!"
[Gyro rolls his eyes.]
[Lenneth] "Hey, since it's just you, wanna head to Greedent's Shack?"
[Brittany walks up to Lenneth and wraps her arms around his left arm, smiling brightly as she does.]
[Brittany] "Of course!"
[Lenneth] "Then let's go."
[Lenneth and Brittany walk out of the board room, leaving Gyro by himself.]
[Gyro, thoughts] "(Least it was just her and not the others.)"
[Gyro shudders.]

Summary: You have noticed something is not quite right about Peter Parker. A squeaky clean image, but always disappearing at the first sign of danger. You are determined to find out whatever he is hiding. Peter notices your interest in him. He thinks this is a game of cat and mouse. After all, you have your reasons and he has his.
This will be a new upcoming trilogy I will be working on! This will be a dark story so keep that in mind for future posts.
"Parker..." You tsked as you stared through the binoculars at him in the distance. "What are you up to?"
It was not what it looked like, well it was but it wasn't. One might call it stalking, but if you were being completely honest it was all for good reason. Ever since you had moved to Queens, you settled in quite nicely but one thing that did not settle right with you was your next-door neighbor, Peter Parker. There was nothing necessarily wrong with him, at least not as far as you knew, but there was certainly more to him than what was on the surface.
He had always been nothing less than nice whenever you encountered him, in class and outside of it. Well, when he did come to class or stayed through a one. It surprised you how Peter was even passing college. Your family had even gone as far as inviting him and May to dinner on a few occasions, almost every time ending early with Peter hauling ass get out of there and into the night. That was the thing about him. He was almost always in a hurry to be somewhere. Maybe that was where you just needed to mind your own business, but you could not help but wonder why he was always in a panic.
That was how you ended up here sitting in your car, staring through a pair of binoculars for the second time since this week. You had to get to the bottom of his madness. It was dark out, the only source of light being the street lights and the lights to very few businesses that were still open on this street. You did not understand why Peter would come out to this side of the city. You did not feel comfortable being out here even if you were locked up in your car.
You watched as Peter disappeared down a dark alley casually. You dropped your binoculars with a sigh, setting them in your lap as you stared at the dark path he went down. Why did he seem on a mission? What could possibly be down there? You leaned back in your seat, propping your knees up against the steering wheel. It was time to play the waiting game.
You sat in silence, keeping an eye out for him but you never saw him again. You were at mental war with yourself. Should you go looking for him at this point? What if he was hurt? But he was fine the last time you followed him here. What if he was in trouble? He was more capable of taking care of himself rather than you trying to help.
Fuck, why would you come out here? You thought to yourself. You could have just minded your own business, but no you just had to know what Peter Parker was up to.
The clock on your dash rolled as time went on. You gave in. The last time you had left, but this time you were more curious than ever. You were mentally cursing at yourself as you opened the car door. What were you thinking?
You started across the street, walking toward the alley and hugging yourself from a mix of fear and the chill of the cool night. The street was quiet. The silence made it creepier than it would have if people were on it. You peaked down the alley but it was empty.
You forced yourself to keep moving, walking into the alley and looking around you, taking in the overstuffed dumpsters and open air. You sighed, letting your arms fall as you gave up your search. He was gone wherever he was.
You snapped from your thoughts when you heard tires shrieking nearby. You panicked as they began pulling down the alleyway, quickly ducking behind one of the dumpsters and trying to stay as quiet as possible.
You listened to the slide of the van door and the sound of multiple men getting out.
"What are you doing?" A deep voice harped.
You heard a gun cock and you quickly covered your mouth with your hand to keep silent. You suddenly regretted ever leaving the house. "I thought I see someone."
"Stop fucking around. We have work to do." The man snapped, throwing something at the guy. At this point, you were holding your breath. "Probably just a raccoon or something."
The guy finally gave in and you had no choice but to listen as a lock broke off one of the doors to a building.
"Come on. We don't have all night."
The men hoarded into the building, filling their bags full of everything they needed. All you had to do was wait and they would be gone before you know it.
"Well well, what do we have here?" You jumped when a man spotted you out with his flashlight, pointing his gun at you. "Go on. Come on out." He demanded, nudging his gun.
You were scared to move. You couldn't seem to get your feet working properly to carry you.
"Let's go!" He raised his voice and you flinched, quickly sliding out from behind the dumpster. He grabbed your arm, gripping onto it as he pulled you close to him. His gun pressed into your back.
"Hey, boss! Look what we got here." He stiffened a laugh as he dragged you along toward the entrance.
The boss man came out of the building, his eyes falling on you and taking you in. You could feel his eyes scanning along your body. The longer he stared the more naked you felt even though you had clothes on.
"What's a pretty little thing like you doing out here all alone?" He smiled a smug smile, circling around you as he kept his eyes on you.
"I-I-"
"Now don't be scared. We're not gonna hurt you. We just wanna talk." He assured you.
You swallowed the lump formed in your throat. "I was just looking for my friend." You answered honestly.
"Your friend? Out here?" He looked around, stretching his arms out with a stiff laugh. "I highly doubt that."
The man at your side pressed his nose into your hair, breathing in your sweet scent. You tried to move away, but he pressed the gun harder against your back.
"You can consider me your friend." He smirked as his head was still pressed to yours.
"I won't tell anyone. I honestly didn't see anything I swear." You started to plead but the man in front of you put his hand up to mute you. You closed your mouth instantly. You did not want to push your luck.
"Trying to leave so soon hm?" You watched as he stepped closer to you, closing the open space between the two of you. "Not having fun?"
He pushed the guy off of your side. "Go make yourself useful."
He scowled as he walked off to help the other men. "You always get all the fun."
You looked down as he towers over you. "Please don't hurt me." Your voice was quiet as you spoke. You could not bring yourself to face the consequences of coming here.
"Don't you worry that pretty little head of yours. I'll take good care of you." He smirks as he pushes you up against the brick wall behind you and pinning you there. You definitely had been at the wrong place at the right time. You made a mental note if you even made it out alive, you would never follow Peter here ever again.
"Please..." You closed your eyes tight as his hands rubbed up the curves of your body.
Before his hands could get any higher, you feel a gush of wind knocking the older man off of his feet onto the pavement. You fluttered your watery eyes open, blinking back the tears and looking around to see what was going on.
He groaned as he shuffled back to his feet and grabbing you by your throat, squeezing it tight. "Do you think this is a fucking game? Who else is out here?"
"I-I don't know." You clawed at his wrist, pleading to him.
"Don't lie to me!" He yelled as he pulled you off the wall in an attempt to slam you back against it.
"I swear, I don't-" You begged but a flash of red and blue cut you off, sent him flying against one of the dumpsters nearby.
Your eyes stared at the person in front of you, dressed in a red and blue suit. Spiderman. You tried not to be in such shock, but you could not help yourself. You had always heard of the hero, but never had you seen him this close.
His stunt had gained the attention of his other men. Spiderman shot his webs, trapping the older man to the dumpster when he tried to get back to his feet.
He turned to look at you, noticing the other men resurfacing from the building. "Go." He instructed.
He didn't have to tell you twice. Your feet had found the strength before you had even found them. You ran as quick as your feet could carry you out of the alley, stopping for a moment to glance back at all the commotion. You had to make sure he was at least okay even if your mind screamed for you to keep going. You were impressed at the sight of all of the men webbed to the van after they had taken their beating. Spiderman shot his last web over the man's mouth who yelled threats at him before turning to make eye contact with you.
You wanted to thank him, but your voice was lost behind all the adrenaline pumping through your veins. For if it wasn't for him, your own stupidity would have had you dead.
He stood up straight while trying to catch his breath. Even though you could not see his eyes underneath the dark fabric, you knew his eyes were staring right back at you. You gave him an apologetic smile before you ran back to your car, vowing from this point forward, you would never follow Peter Parker into the dark again.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤSacrificial duties, Mondstadt ver.
would they sacrifice you or mondstadt?
includes: jean, lisa, kaeya, diluc, amber, albedo and venti.
( i'm too socially inept to request for someone to do this so i took matters into my own hands. )
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 JEAN GUNNHILDR ━━ DANDELION KNIGHT 〕
━━ is this even a debate? jean would sacrifice you to save mondstadt.
━━ the question would tear her apart though, she'd spend so much time trying to find another way to save both her city and you that she'd neglect her health ( basic needs, like eating, sleeping )
━━ if it were a person or god who was demanding these terms, she'd try to negotiate anything to save both, even her own life, though if you were willing, she'd hesitantly ( literally beg you to not go through it and reassure she'll find another way ) let you go.
━━ no matter what she chooses, she'll still feel incompetent in the end, as if she isn't good enough to be the acting grandmaster and would probably overwork herself to try and focus on something.
"I'll do it," Jean looks back at you, horror flashing through her eyes though you didn't falter, still staring the entity in her eyes. The wind picks up as if feeling the ameno swordswoman's vivid emotions, she shakes her head, taking small steps towards you as she reaches out for your hand. You cringe when she fell to her knees, "no no no, please, you don't have to do this."
You don't look at her, knowing it would only make things worse for the both of you, you didn't want her to be the last thing you saw nor did you want your face to plague her dreams like a ghost. "I care about Mondstadt too, Jean." You hope she understands that you were also doing this for your city and doesn't blame herself, "it's my duty."
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 LISA MINCI ━━ WITCH OF PURPLE ROSE 〕
━━ lisa is a bit more of a wild card.
━━ lisa only oversees the library of mondstadt but it's really unclear the extent of her care for the city itself.
━━ it's impossible for one to say if she would hold a lover priority over a city due to lack of background so that's why she's more of a wild card right now, because i could see her potentially doing either.
━━ though i'm leaning a little towards sacrificing you because of her closeness with jean and her involvement in the knights of farvonius, she knows it would be morally wrong to sacrifice an entire city for one person, lover or not.
"It's okay," you reassure her, smile still gracing your face albeit the heavyweight pressure of death for your city digging it's claws into your shoulders. "I'm sorry," she apologises for the nth time and you can do no more than squeeze her hand in affirmation, knowing a hug would be too much for the both of you right now.
You feel her fingers slip through yours and your hand is embraced by the winds of Mondstadt, a sudden change from the electricity that plagued her fingertips and passed onto yours. You take a shaky breath and leave her behind you, her eyes watching your back along the way until you were nothing more than a dot in the horizon━━ ready to become a star in the sky.
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 KAEYA ALBERICH ━━ FROSTWIND SWORDSMAN 〕
━━ another wildcard!
━━ unlike lisa, however, i'm leaning towards sacrificing monstadt.
━━ even with all his background knowledge, kaeya is still a character that holds a lot of secrets and it's canon that he's a mysterious figure, cavalry captain or not.
━━ don't get your hopes up though, because he still may sacrifice you ( after a talk with jean or diluc/j )
━━ kaeya lets anything happen as long as it falls into place of how he has expected to end, he really doesn't know what to do when an unknown entity shows up and demands the price of you for his city or vice versa.
━━ really hard to get a grasp on him.
━━ i could see him spending one last day with you after deciding he was going to give you up ( you obviously knew of this ) but after 24 hours with you, away from mondstadt, he might realise that, even if he regrets it for the rest of his life, he'll never be able to give you up.
━━ alternatively, if he didn't open up to you about this or went to jean or diluc, they would convince him to "do what's right" and give you up.
"No. I'm not doing it," his tone differed from the norm━━ he was never like this, not even on official knights' business. His eyes unnervingly determined, tone you were unable to refute, and words that scared you. "Kaeya, you have to," your fingers place themselves over his, which were barely touching your cheeks.
"I'm not doing it," he reaffirms, sounding as if he were trying to convince himself out of all people. "I'm━━ I'm not losing you to some city. I can rebuild a city, we can find a city elsewhere," he states, eyebrows furrowed and not taking a single breath between his words. You pry his fingers away from your cheek, holding them over your lap. "Kaeya, this isn't just 'some city', it's the city you love. The city we love." You coax, finally getting him to look into your eyes. "You're the person I love." He says, exasperated.
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 DILUC RAGNVINDR ━━ DARKNIGHT HERO 〕
━━ hate to be the bearer of bad news,, and as biased as i am to this man, he would give you up.
━━ wouldn't open up to anyone about it, he'll just drive himself insane pondering both options.
━━ and although it would literally make him insane even thinking about losing someone precious to him ( again ) but his loyalty lies within the city of freedom and the city alone.
━━ even after the dispute with the knights of farvonius ( in the webtoon ), he still remains as the protector of mondstadt and i don't think nor am i able to see it will ever change.
━━ unlike kaeya though, i don't think he'll be able to see you at all once he decides to sacrifice you, he'll just be reminded that he'll never be able to see you again and the terrible decision that he's going to go through with.
━━ will also throw himself into extensive work to get you off his mind afterwards.
"You okay there?" Your eyebrows furrow, leaning against the open door of Diluc's office, seeing his hair tied back into a bun, hands in his face as he gazed deeply at his wooden desk. His head flies up at the sound of your voice, clearing his throat, "when did you get here?"
You shrug, taking steps towards him as he leans back into his chair, "being a hero taking a toll on you?" You tease him, taking a seat on his desk next to him and placing your feet on the chair, leaning forward to cup his cheek. He turns away. You're no stranger to his austere ways so you merely lean back, balancing yourself with your hands against his desk, telling him about your day.
"━━and then he wrapped it up and sent it to me, which was awfully disturbing might I add."
"I'm sorry," your eyebrow quirks when he suddenly cuts into your storytelling. You push yourself forward, reaching out for him and redirecting his gaze ( which hadn't looked in your direction even once ) onto you. "What's wrong my dear?" He only grimaces at the nickname━━ wincing almost and still refused to look at you, gaze cast upon the floor behind his bangs. You couldn't even see his eyes.
"Your guilty act is making me ponder if you've had previous relations with someone else, Master Diluc," you frown a little, using your other hand to force him to peer at you. He leans forward, placing his forehead on yours and whispers, "never."
"I just wanted to apologise for the future," you smile a little and place a kiss on his forehead. "I will always forgive you."
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 ALBEDO ━━ THE CHALK PRINCE 〕
━━ albedo's original creator hails from khaeri'ah and venti, archon of mondstadt, was one of the original seven who aided in the destruction of khaeri'ah; is that enough reason to destroy it for a lover? no.
━━ would he still do it? yes, yes, yes.
━━ we all know he considers himself a threat to mondstadt but i don't think he would've ever thought this was why he was a threat, to hold an entire city in his palms and be able to destroy it with a single word was quite a terrifying thought.
━━ it wouldn't stop him though, i really don't think albedo holds any sentimental attachment to mondstadt, he only works and lives there as of right now but he's currently heeding his creater's words and pursuing the truth of the world.
━━ he might grimace over losing a few people that he holds dear and end up rethinking his decision but in the end, will choose you.
━━ another reason i think he would destroy mondstadt is that, once albedo discovers something or the feeling of enlightenment that comes with studying something new disperses, he is quick to stop studying that and abandon it due to the "bittersweet truth" hitting him so if he grew tired of mondstadt,,,,,, rip to jean 🙏
Your eyes flicker from the sight of his back to the unknown entity, hovering just above the floor, her eyes uninterested in you as she gazed into Albedo's eyes, maybe trying to read his expressionless face. "Have you made a choice, Kreideprinz?"
Nothing is said. Nothing from Albedo nor you, you didn't seem to have a part in this private conversation but you also seemed to be an integral part of it due to the way Albedo kept looking back at you, squeezing your hand as if to remind himself that you existed. "I'm choosing them."
She peers at you now, her eyes boring into yours as she scans you for something, "are you sure about this decision?"
For some odd reason, you're not offended by her words, maybe because she didn't sound like she meant it in a rude way ( it also seemed out of her standoffish character ) but was genuine in her curiosity if Albedo would go back on his words. He squeezes your hand again, rubbing circles on the back of your hand━━ something he did to calm you but it seemed that this action was to ground him instead.
"Yes, I am."
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 AMBER ━━ OUTRIDER 〕
━━ YOU.
━━ in the most heart breaking – heart warming way ever, she'd give you up.
━━ notice how more than half of these mondstadt fuckers would give you up? yeah 🙄
━━ on a serious note, a lot of them have devoted themselves fully to protecting the city and i don't see any one of them being able to give the command to destory the city, even if their s/o was being held with a knife to their throat right infront of them and amber is the very same.
━━ even though we don't know to much about her, she is seen as a perfect example of justice by kaeya, and is extremely devoted to her work, she's just below diluc and jean in the most to least likely to sacrifice you in my opinion. it's simply overlooked due to her lack of presence in the game.
━━ i think her compassionate and kind side will make it harder for her to come to a decision because she doesn't want to have to lose one thing to keep another but in the end, she will give you up.
Amber seemed extremely distressed, immediately running into Jean's office once arriving back at the Knight's base after finishing her usual trek of Mondstadt's surroundings. You had attempted to call out her as she ran through the halls but she didn't even look your way, which was peculiar to you but you could only guess something dangerous must've happened due to her eagerness of reaching Jean's office, slamming the door wide open.
You quirk an eyebrow and Kaeya, stood beside you, whistled briskly, hands on his hip. "Someone's in a hurry," you roll your eyes at his comment and simply grab his arm, dragging him over to Jean's office, "just shut up and come."
The minute you knock and open the door however, the room is quiet. Jean sat on her chair, elbows placed on the table and concern burrowed deeply within her furrowed eyebrows and Amber, who was shaking her leg up and down in anxiety, fiddling with her nails.
Kaeya seems a little amused by the situation, unlike you, who was extremely concerned by the little actions of anxieties Amber was exhibiting, striding over to her side in an instant. Placing your hand on her shoulder, she leans into you almost instantly and begins quietly sniffling into your shirt.
You mouth to Jean that you're taking her out and Jean nods, thanking you with a small smile on her face. You guide Amber into a quiet room in the headquarters, letting her silently cry as you attempt to soothe her. "Hey, hey, what's wrong?"
She shakes her head, only repeating a small, "I'm sorry."
Tumblr media
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ〔 VENTI ━━ WINDBORNE BARD 〕
━━ venti is characterised as a free spirit, like the freedom that the city of mondstadt represents, he carries that within him but at the end of the day, he is still mondstadt's archon.
━━ so we all saw this coming but you 👫
━━ i don't really think there's a lot to explain, he's their archon and even if he loses everyone he's ever loved, his priority is mondstadt.
━━ he'll probably take you on that ride on dvalin he's been promising you for the past year with no explanation.
━━ you'll ask him why he's dragged you from work and he'll just say he's feeling nice or that the winds are good for a ride right now.
━━ you'll stare at him with that, 'don't–you–control–the–winds?' look and he'll wink at you, telling you to stop staring at him or he'll blush.
━━ will completely come undone when he seed you happily laughing on dvalin's back, arms spread open as your laugh echoes into the wind.
Your excited whooping is all he hears, previous nervousness abandoned with his hands placed on your waist as Dvalin pierced up above the clouds; the ground nothing more than a fleeting dream to you both. It's such a shame that young, immature Dendro Archon got his hands on you first, gifting you his gift of Earth's nature━━ if not for the God of Wisdom, Venti would've gifted you heaven's winds if he knew how simply being in the sky made you so ecstatic.
The adrenaline finally dies down when Dvalin arrives just above the clouds, wings creating new and dispersing the old. You lean into Venti who takes this as an invitation to push himself further into your side and begin playing with your fingers, allowing you time to simply relish in the situation. "You're awfully quiet today," you muse, staring at Venti with a small smile.
He hums, "it's quiet up here," in nothing less of a whisper. You nod along with his words, fighting the urge to jump into the clouds, knowing you'll pass right through them. Venti sinks into you further somehow, like you were a passing cloud; his shoulder pressed into the crack of your arm and torso, head leaning on your shoulder. "You'll be okay Venti," and you embrace him.

Shinso x reader - Burning sensation
Fluff
Every morning at 7:00 you would meet shinso outside your dorm to head to school "Hey Hitoshi how ya doin this mornin" you asked sideling up to the boy who you had gotten to know quite well through your walks too and from school, and your time in class, and lunch, and training after school, you were never really away from each other actually. He took comfort in the time you spent together and you enjoyed talking to him and being his friend. It was pretty understandable why he didn't want to be friends, to begin with, but there was no way in hell you were letting the boy go through 3 years of school without any friends! So you made it your own personal mission to change his mind about you, and you were pretty chuffed when he actually stopped pushing you away yep this boat was firmly tied to the dock now. "I'm fine just tired" he was always tired.
The gleaming white windows of your school came into view lighting up the area around it like a child shining a magnifying glass on a bunch of tiny ants swarming to their colony. You nudged his side with your elbow getting his attention "SO I heard someone is getting transferred into the hero course next year!" you were so proud of him! This was his dream come true and he was finally getting his big opportunity "yeah it's pretty crazy" it was true he was more than thrilled to be joining the hero course but he felt like he was betraying you in some way, you should be in there with him! You were just as powerful if not more than he was. It didn't feel right leaving you "I can't believe it Hitoshi! I'm so happy for you, we should go get ice cream later to celebrate!" you walked through the door together weaving through the other people dotted around the corridor to reach your own classroom tucked away at the end . the thought hadn't even crossed your mind about how lonely you would be without Hitoshi, and it was coming up for the end of the year, you would have to cherish your time more than ever. "Ice cream sounds nice."
Th day went on rather uneventfully, thankfully it was lunch now so food was on the top of your mind "what should I get today?" you asked your lavender friend, you were determined to have everything on the menu at least once before you left school, you had quite a few options to go "what about a cappuccino and the udon?" it was pretty lucky he was keeping track of what you had and hadn't got yet otherwise you would never get close to finishing the challenge "you just want my cappuccino huh" you stepped up to the counter and ordered your food and drink which was ready in a flash thanks to lunch rush (give the dude some credit he does lunch for that entire school every day!) "maybe" he gave a lopsided grin and you rolled your eyes.
you both set off for a table near the back where you usually sat when a green-haired boy waving his arm caught your eye "hey Hitoshi is that one of your new classmates" you questioned gesturing to the freckled boy who was frantically trying to get his attention "oh yeah that's midoriya" he brushed off the topic and continued off to your table "hey wait you should go sit with them!" you called after the boy who groaned and span round his purple locks dangled in front of his eyes blocking his view fully but he could tell you weren't gonna let him leave. "but... why?" "because they're your classmates silly come on" you pulled him over to the table much to his dismay "h-hey shinso do you want to sit with us?" midoriya asked and everyone else at the table eyed him up like a flock of vultures inspecting there pray "can (y/n) sit too?" wait no what you weren't in that class why would you sit there? That was like... the top dog table right? "Of course!" oh well oh kay then guess you were one with the big leagues now. "Hi it's nice to meet you, I'm ururaka" she introduced herself with a big grin, you noticed she was holding her juice with 4 fingers and had pink pads in the middle of her fingertips "I'm (l/n) nice to meet you too" you sat down next to Hitoshi excited to make some new friends, maybe if you liked them he would like them more.
"So you and shinso are really good friends huh?" you nodded as you took a sip of your cappuccino and ultimately decided it was one of the less amazing things on the menu "yeah he's like my best friend and I'm pretty much his emotional support dog" you giggled and handed off the warm, bitter drink to him which he was more than happy to take off your hands "in all honesty she should be the one joining your class, daughter of the number 2 hero couldn't cut the hero programme" he teased and everyone else gasped "YOUR DAD IS HAWKS!" yep it was true you were the daughter of the number 2 hero hawks and someone else?? Mum didn't stick around long, your quirk was a little HOT TO HANDLE (roll with it) "what's your quirk! Can you show us!" midoriya begged from across the table which Hitoshi was not happy about he didn't like it when people gave you more attention than he did "um no I definitely cannot show you! But I can tell you what it iss" you sang and the boy grabbed a pencil and notepad out his bag "uh it's called Pheonix I have retractable wings... made of blue fire... and I can fly and shoot the feathers and I have the feather blades like dad and all that jazz" "she also has the same dumb personality" Hitoshi added and you gasped looking at him hurt "don't talk about my dad like that he loves you" he did actually like Hitoshi a surprising amount and you were pretty convinced he shipped you like a 15-year-old girl watching 2 boys in an anime about superheroes (-_-)
"But if your dad is the number 2 hero how come you aren't in the hero course" ouch. You gripped your chopsticks harshly "some bitch thought it would be funny to knock me out during the entrance exam and it was too late to get me in by recommendation" the chopsticks snapped splintering off into a bunch of smaller pieces. The lively nature of the cafe suddenly turned to one of concern when 2 mini puffs of thick smoke filtered out from the back of your blazer blanketing the roof and the smell of burning fabric infiltrated your noses "your burning" Hitoshi said from beside you "OH sorry sorry I didn't notice" you said and started to calm yourself down by stealing Hitoshi's lemonade "you must be upset about having to be in different classes after the new year" the boy with the bird head said. Well yeah but he wouldn't be leaving you completely, you opened your mouth to speak but before you could start Hitoshi started "I don't intend on letting her go half a year alone in that class, either she moves up or I go back down" he grit his teeth at the thought of you being alone in that class by yourself, and if it meant he had to give up his dream of being in the hero course he would. You smiled and then sighed when you realised you couldn't finish your udon since your chopsticks had transformed into toothpicks.
Ah yes, finally the end of the day. You and Hitoshi walked out of the nicely air-conditioned school into the dry blistering heat of the outside world "oh god whyyy" you cried and shook your fist at the sun then immediately regretted it as a bunch of white spots danced around in your eyes (FUN FACT THOSE ARE CALLED PHOSPHENES. Y'know, like phosphor) "so ice cream" you stumbled around trying to your friends and jumped when he put his hands on the back of your shoulders "just keep walking dummy" he said and you did so until you gained your sight back. "It's such a hot day this is evil" you crossed your arms angrily as you made your way to your house since you had decided to get changed before you got ice cream so that the sweltering heat didn't melt you both to a puddle of sweat and ew (THAT'S WHAT I'M GOING WITH OKAY).
"HEY DAD ARE YOU HOME?" you shouted into the house and a little red feather shot down to where you were standing "I'LL TAKE THAT AS A YES THEN" you and shinso wandered up to your room dumping your bags with an audible thud "crop top and jeans?" you asked holding up your clothes and showing them off to Hitoshi "sure why not," he said and pulled out the bag of clothes in the bottom of your wardrobe that you kept there for him. "Vest and shorts?" he held up the clothes and you nodded and he descended down the hall to the bathroom waving to your dad as he went past. It was such a perfect day, it was too good to be overthinking little things like clothes or how lonely you would be without Hitoshi or what he meant when he said when he wasn't leaving you behind or how he really felt about you or- "how's my chicklet?" (hawk's most defining personality trait is that he likes chicken don't @me) your dad asked ruffling your hair "it is too hot to exist right now but Hitoshi and I are gonna get ice cream" you grinned and cracked open your window hoping a breeze would come through and cool you down a smidge. "Like a date?" "No dad it's not a date" "finneee have fun" he pouted and left you alone to get changed.
"Hey, Hitoshi what ice cream do you want?" you asked looking over the menu on the side of the truck that was parked in the park... "it's a vanilla day I think," you stepped up to the counter ordering your ice creams both with a flake obviously and sat on a cool metal bench which was hidden by the big weeping willow tree, it was your favourite spot in the whole park because it was always shady and the big tree made you feel like little kids again, you were so small in comparison and when the wind picked up the branches whipped around like a carousel and tangled together like a curtain to hide behind.
"hey you'll be okay in the class by yourself for a while right?" he asked and took a pit off his ice cream "I'll have to be won't I. I'm really proud of you you know that" you stole the flake that he was about to bite into and took a bite out of it letting the chocolate bit's fall off and land on your crop top melting almost instantly "I know. But I promise I'm gonna get you up there with me. You won the sports festival I don't know why they're taking me" (ROLL WITH IT) he stole your flake in retaliation and started eating his ice cream "because you deserve it stop doubting yourself" you preached. You listened to the cars drive by and the angry drivers honking at each other, in all fairness there were indicators for a reason. The bustling life of the city drowned out by the calm bubble surrounding the 2 of you "well you deserve it too (y/n)" he argued and you both burst into a fit of laughter knowing that it was almost impossible to be mad at each other and this wasn't even close to a reason.
"Hey I need to tell you something" he whispered taking a bite out of the sugary cone "oooh~ are you going to profess your undying love for me" you giggled not knowing what you were getting into in the next few minutes "yes... I am" ".....WHAT!" WELL, THIS TOOK A TURN "I like you. Like in a girlfriend type of way" he sighed when a big flake of his cone cracked and fell into the dirt under him "oh. This is unexpected" you whispered taking a bite out of your own cone getting crumbs down your top "if you don't feel the same it's okay I just wanted you to know" he pursed his lips and drew little circles in the dry dirt "no I do, I do feel the same I guess I just didn't realise I felt the same... does that make sense?" it probably didn't.
Of course, you felt the same, he had been your best friend for a while now so obviously you caught some feelings but you had never given them a title like, a crush or love or anything like that, they were just there. They would either go away or they wouldn't and now you were here. You were glad they hadn't "yeah it does" he smiled and the wind picked up a bit lacing the branches together to create th perfect veil as he leaned down and kissed you softly, it was nice and filled with love and admiration and your face turned soft pink and matched the heat of the sun beating down right now.
It didn't last long unfortunately as 2 pillars of smoke started coming out of your shirt and burning fabric once again took over your senses "NO NO NO NOT NOW COME ON" you shouted feeling the fabric separating on your back and you held the front of your crop top on your front "okay well we're gonna not do that for now" Hitoshi said calmy and you shot him a panicked glance gesturing to your unfortunate situation with your other hand. The back of your top fell off and you arched your back when it came into contact with the cold rugged bark of the willow tree "OKAY WELL NOT WALKING HOME LIKE THAT" he shouted and took off his vest throwing it to you and turning away.
You put it on quickly after you calmed down a bit and you weren't burning anything. "Okay you can turn around," you instructed focusing only on the branches in front of you "what not gonna look at me?" "nope" "why not?" you cleared your throat and clicked your tongue "because if I do this shirt will just burn off too and then we'll have to phone dad and get him to bring me a shirt and then he'll ask how I managed to burn two of my shirts off and then I have to listen to him go on and on like a 15-year-old girl about how he totally called that we would get together and then-" "alright I get it," he said putting his hand over your mouth 'well you just set yourself up for failure' you thought and licked his hand which he pulled back and wiped on your jeans "your gross" he chuckled and stood up wiping the dirt off his jeans and standing directly in your eye line putting his hand out to help you up. Which you didn't accept since you were rather busy ogling those goddamn washboard abs "well your not burning yet but you might be brain dead" he flicked your forehead and you shook your head slightly accepting his help up.
You started to walk home as the bright blue sky turned to a medley of tangerine and lavenders with pink brush strokes in between. "We should get ice cream more often," he said his honeyed voice cutting the silence held between you "I agree, we train so much we deserve it!" you exclaimed "you just wanna see me shirtless" he teased. It took every ounce of willpower you had to not burn the shirt off by accident but thankfully you didn't "pfft no. I want ice cream the shirtless thing doesn't have to be exclusively an ice cream thing" you pointed out nudging his shoulder with yours as your house got closer and he rolled his eyes wrapping his arm around your waist pulling you next to him like 2 magnets sticking to each other.
"Well I'll see you tomorrow Hitoshi," you said once you reached your door "yeah see you tomorrow," he said pecking your cheek and walking off down the road leaving you astonished at your door. "DAD YOUR NOT GONNA BELIEVE THIS" you screamed as you entered the house.
4 weeks later
"We have another student joining the hero course" the grumpy teacher announced and you bust into the 1-A classroom with your wings outstretched behind you "PUT THE GREMLIN BACK" shinso shouted from the back of the classroom "GO BACK UNDER THE BRIDGE YOU CAME FROM" you shouted back and took your seat next to him "dad wants to know if you're staying for dinner after training" you whispered, "yeah what are we having?" "chicken"

I Hope You Suffer
Bakugo x Fem! Reader Angst
Feat. Midoriya
I wrote this a LONG time ago, and I’m posting it on here for nostalgic reasons. It’s also on my Wattpad 😂
Warnings: Violence, language, Bakugo being a prick
Tumblr media
I stared hatefully at the two pieces of paper that laid all alone on my otherwise empty mahogany desk. Two letters, to be precise, were from him, the one person who I absolutely hated right now. Right when we were getting serious he just had to make me look like a fool. He just had to try to weaken me.
With an enraged scream, I shot a beam of fire at the papers that tore my heart in a million pieces, making them turn to ash instantly, same for the desk. For a second, I stared at the pile of ash with a blank expression on my face, a split second of emotionless behavior.
"SHIT!!!!" I screamed, sinking to the black stained carpet that was supposed to be white. I had burned so much stuff in this room that I gave up on trying to clean the floors. I buried my face in the palms of my hands, pulling my H/L H/C hair out of frustration.
How could he do this to me? What have I done to him to deserve this? They all warned me. They said it would end like this--ugly and uncaring.
"WHY?!" I slammed my fists on the floor, leaving marks of ash in the exact shape of my fists. My breath became ragged, the source of my air leaving. It was like the world was mocking me, disgracing my actions. But it wasn't me they needed to mock. It was him.
The next day at school, I didn't talk to anyone as I walked onto campus. I just wanted to get class over with. Right now, everyone was annoying, laughing and joking, smiling at their wonderful day. Whatever, it's not like they knew what happened. I can't just expect them to automatically know and come talk to me.
I walked slower than my usual speedy pace, not caring if I was late at all. Today, Aizawa could kiss my ass, as well as all the heroes here. knowing the person I dreaded to see would start something up, chances were high that I would break a myriad of school rules just to see him fall.
"Y/N!! Wait up!" Izuku shouted, running up to me and putting a hand on my shoulder to get my attention. "You didn't return my calls last night. I was worried that something was wrong." He said with concern, but with the ever-present smile on his face.
I smiled my best fake smile and nodded once, waving my hand in a dismissive gesture as we walked, still very slowly, towards 1-A. "Yeah, sorry about that, Izuku," I looked behind my shoulder, scanning the students until I saw a very familiar head of spiky blonde hair. "I was a little preoccupied last night." I scowled, venom on my tongue.
Izuku stopped smiling. After a second, he stopped walking. "I know you, Y/N, more than you think. That smile isn't real." He put his hands in his pockets and looked up at me worriedly. I just shrugged and continued walking, not waiting for Izuku, knowing he'd catch up to ask more questions.
Looking behind to where I was previously, his frown turned to slight anger. "Did something happen with you and Kacchan?" He glanced me look of pity, making me scoff.
"And if something did? Please don't pity me, I don't need it or want it. And don't do anything rash." I added the last part just as Izuku clenched his fists in attempt to not say anything. When he didn't respond, I knew he was most likely thinking of what he'd do if Katsuki hurt me again.
It was silent as we entered the classroom, sadly separating to go to our seats. I took my seat next to Todoroki, who as I was worried about, because he notices everything. Won't be long until he notices I'm not talking to Katsuki like I always do.
Sighing inwardly, I folded my arms on the desk and used them as a pillow as I hid my face, praying when Katsuki entered the room he wouldn't say anything. Did I just think Katsuki and not saying anything in the same sentence?
I could practically sense Todoroki looking at me curiously due to my odd behavior, but it's not like I cared. To be honest, who really does? I heard Todoroki sigh quietly, probably giving up trying to figure out what my problem was. I just wanted silence. Like everything I did, it was a wasted endeavor.
"DEKU YOU BASTARD!!"
My head snapped up and I saw Katsuki yelling at Izuku as always. Wonder what Izuku didn't do this time. I didn't pay much mind to it nowadays since Izuku got his quirk, explaining it was late manifestation. But considering the circumstances from last night, things have changed.
Before Izuku could even open his mouth to respond, I stepped in, laughing my ass off. Of course the laugh was fake, but it was more convincing than my smile.
"THE FUCK YOU LAUGHING AT, L/N?" Katsuki shouted, his attention turned away from my best friend. I put my finger up for him to give a second as I was seriously struggling to get air, standing up so I could breathe easier. Katsuki looked shocked that someone told him to wait so they could respond - they would just cower.
"You just...need to.... One second." There were a few laughs from the other students as I continued taking deep breaths, once again putting my finger up, telling him to wait even longer. I quickly regained my posture and spoke with a smirk, "You just need to change what you say more often. 'Deku you bastard' is way too overused."
Katsuki returned my smirk, his darker and more cruel. "You know what else is overused? You calling me by my first name. It's Bakugo to you now." Silence consumed the classroom, a couple people gasped. By this time, the whole of 1-A knew we had broken up.
I clenched my fists and walked up to Bakugo so we were but a foot apart. "WHAT DID I DO, HUH?! YOU JUST DROP ME LIKE I'M NOTHING? THROW ME AWAY LIKE A FUCKING PIECE OF TRASH?!"
He rolled his eyes and scowled, something deadly that I might not survive. Well, there's nothing to live for now. "You're just an obstacle in my way, an extra. You are nothing," He pushed me lightly, making me stumble back. "You are just a piece of trash, something, as you said is so easily thrown away." By now he had me against the wall, his arm pinning me to it.
I tried to look calm and menacing, but my eyes gave me away, I already knew it. So, as I hated him, I tried to hit him where it hurts. More specifically, his pride. "An extra? Oh, please. You do know you're the only one here who doesn't think of yourself as one too? There are people more talented and powerful here than you, and they don't think of me as an extra."
"SHUT UP! I'M NOT AN EXTRA! THE ONLY REASON THEY DON'T CONSIDER YOU AS AN ONE IS BECAUSE THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU EXIST AND THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT A PATHETIC THING LIKE YOU!"  Bakugo grabbed the collar of my shirt and pulled off the wall just to slam me back against it, the impact making me shudder.
What happened next was like slow motion to me. My E/C eyes saw Iida shouting at Bakugo to sit down, just as Bakugo raised his fist that was surround by explosions at me. With shouts of rage, Izuku and Todoroki grabbed him and tried pulling him away from me. It deemed useless when Bakugo broke free of their hold, and turning back to me. Just as I was about to be exploded into bits, a familiar white/grey scarf captured Bakugo, and drug him away from the area.
I was frozen in place, my shock taking hold of my mind. I was numb to the world and frankly, I liked it. Two things he had said to me hung in my mind like poison. He had called me a thing. Is that really how he sees me? That, though, was nothing compared to what he screamed as he was dragged back to his seat by Aizawa. 'I hate you, Y/N L/N'.
Not caring who was watching, I sunk to my knees and finally cried, letting my tears fall in ugly and loud sobs, completely missing the quick flash of regret in Bakugo's face. He reminded himself that he needed to do what he did so he could become the best. Before  I could see the true feelings of Katsuki Bakugo, he went back to the profile of a heartless, broken beast.
"I-I just can't believe Kacchan would do that to you."  Izuku stuttered as we walked out of UA and headed to the nearest diner. I hadn't eaten lunch since Bakugo would be there, so Izuku insisted that he'd take me to get something to eat. Truly, I didn't mind as long as he pays; free food is free food.
"It's alright, really. He had a problem, and he got rid of it. Simple enough." I put my hands in my jacket pockets and slouched, a complete giveaway towards my emotions. I can't keep anything away from those who know everything about me.
Izuku surprisingly didn't even look at me as I said what I thought. Honestly, I've been telling myself I was just a problem and something in the way ever since I started attending UA. As much as Izuku and everyone else tries to tell me, I deny every time they do, I don't believe it when they say I'm worth it. Bakugo just confirmed my thoughts.
"You just called yourself a problem," Izuku shook his head. "But you're not. Why do you put yourself down like this?" By now, my green haired friend was fully convinced I was at some level depressed from the situation.
I shrugged as we approached the restaurant, reaching the door first and holding it open for Izuku. "It's the truth, I am well aware it hurts." I said simply, sitting at a random table by the window so I could at least breath a bit. Bored very quickly, I picked up the menu and scanned my eyes over the list of food.
Izuku sat across from me and frowned at the table, a truly sad and broken expression present on his face. I wanted to question what it was for, but decided against it quickly when he looked up, our eyes meeting, green to E/C. He sighed and shook his head again as if he were wanting to tell me something and was restraining himself before he could.
The waitress arrived then, and we ordered our drinks and food, avoiding eye contact with everything and everyone. She nodded and then left, scribbling the last things on her notepad. When she was out of sight, we continued the conversation.
"What happened yesterday? You and Kacchan seemed fine at school, and now you can't even speak his name." He said after a long couple seconds' silence. I stayed silent, looking at the dark brown table with sudden interest in the illusion of texture. "Tell me, Y/N." He pressed. One day, his caring too much will have big consequences for him- good and bad.
"Nothing really important. I was just walking home yesterday from what seemed like a good day with Katsuki- I mean Bakugo. Then a few hours later, my mother came in and handed me two envelopes written out to me." I paused, not sure I wanted to go on, but Izuku's interest made me continue. Blame him for all my good doings. "I Was excited, as anyone would be if they see something addressed to them on paper rather than text. Both letters were from Katsuki, the first one saying how much he loved me and that it was genuine, only for the second one to say that that's the exact reason he had to let me go. I was in the way of him becoming the best hero the world could get. I threw them on my desk and disintegrated the papers and my desk."
Izuku  portrayed something so despondent, it was hard to believe that it was him. "That's something you can expect from Kacchan... but that doesn't mean he has a right to do that to you."
The waitress came with out food and we thanked her, carrying on the moment she left. I hope she didn't think we were being secretive and I hate more than anything someone being suspicious of me. Then again, it wasn't her job to ask questions-it was her job to bring the food.
"Besides," He started, taking a bite of chicken. "He could be regretting it this very moment." His smile was so convincing, but I didn't believe it for a second.
"What was it you just said? The betrayal sounds like Bakugo, but regret doesn't even come close to him. You have more luck breaking the fourth wall then getting a smidgen of regret from Katsuki." I scoffed, picking at my food with sudden slight disgust. Izuku is going to pay for it, so might as well try to eat something.
Izuku nodded in understanding, then shook his head. "Kacchan has regrets. I've seen him regret many things before, and I'm sure he regrets this." The way he tried to lighten the mood, the amount of effort not to be angry at Bakugo, the self restraint he put upon himself was phenomenal. I would've expected at least one tear to fall by now, or at least some form of his anger to reveal itself. I knew Izuku was mad at Bakugo, but it wasn't his problem. What his problem was was making every single one his. It'll get him killed one day, I guarantee it.
I sighed and glanced out the window, eyeing the vibrant green grass field that was known as the park just a street across. When I was younger, that meadow of sorts used to be my haven, my way to contemplate life's complications, to release my anger if need be. But I couldn't do that anymore. When I did, the meadow was sealed off, giving me the advantage to incinerate anything and everything I wanted to. I'm pretty sure there was still the remains of an oak tree from a few years ago just sitting there, waiting to disappear like an apparition. Sooner or later, the stress from the life of UA would lead back there once again.
"Possibly," I said softly, breaking out of my thoughts. "But we will see. I won't wait around for him to beg for forgiveness. If he can move on so damn quickly, so can I, and I will not let him get under my skin just to rip me apart. Again. I hope he suffers."
Izuku went pale, a glimpse of fear in his eyes. I, being one of the most powerful in class 1-A, have been proven to be very intimidating when angry, so no one really tries to get me even the slightest annoyed. All but Bakugo of course.
"Y-you don't actually mean that, d-do you?" He stuttered, his already big eyes wide with worry for who he thinks is his friend. One day, he'll realize Katsuki Bakugo had stopped being his friend years ago.
I just smiled, still looking out the window marveling at the beauty of what was about to be a pile of ash. I always smile when I'm angry, it's a huge giveaway if anyone's ever saw one.
"Oh, I mean it. He thinks he can just throw me away? I'll just keep coming back, and back, and back until he gets a solid message. He will suffer." With a wicked smirk, I waited for the right time I could tell Bakugo I was going to be his demise.
Tonight, all that we cherished together will go go down to ash.
Yeah... welp, there’s always room for improvement!

FIC MASTERLIST PART ONE. / PART TWO. / PART THREE.
WANNA BE ADDED TO THE TAG LIST?
Tumblr media
The job, the life, the take with little give, it tore you apart. Limb by limb, piece by piece, until there was nothing left to hold, to stand, to be. Nothing left. The cemeteries of others left for you to hold, to keep, to care. Flowers and rocks atop headstones. Never enough. Always demanding more. The city, the world, a cat stuck in a tree. Watching others wear their uniform with pride, with the ease and awe you could only dream of. A sense of grace, a caution with their words, an effortless way of existing. Why was it so hard for you? When had the Cape become so heavy? The flashing lights so blinding? The right thing so wrong? Slandered, overlooked, dragged through the mud. Your steps too quick, too slow, your decisions that not of a real hero, your motives questioned, your intelligence questioned, your entire fucking existence questioned.
No one could ever be proud. No one could ever say a goddamn thank you.
No wonder you turned out the way you did. Your name a joke in the media, the headlines, between the ones you called family. Up and left. Disappeared. Nothing, not even a note. As if you were never there in the first place. It was better this way. You wouldn't have to drag out your apologies, burden everyone by calling them in, or telling each of them the same story over and over again. You wouldn't be questioned, or guilted, or face any anger. Sometimes it was better to go into shock. Let the adrenaline take over. Numb their wounds, their hurt, their pain. Let them think and say what they wanted, you wouldn't be around to hear it. Abandoning your duties, your teammates, the entire world. You were at your breaking point, drowning demands, in expectations you did your best to live up to. But your best wasn't good enough. It never was. Sometimes it was better to live in ignorance, in bliss. They'd get to you eventually. Word would spread. You'd be turned into a villain. There'd be interviews, and press conferences, and a global search for the one who abandoned their post.
Let them waste their time, their breath, their effort, the same way you did.
He knew. He knew before it happened. The faraway look in your glazed eyes. The hesitation. The second thought. The flinching. He didn't know what it was, though. The tone in your voice unrecognizable, your words of someone else. You hadn't just lost those pieces of yourself, they'd been crushed, absolutely destroyed. You were giving up, caving in, believing what it was everyone was saying. And then, you were gone. A ghost. Expecting to see you as he turned a corner, catching himself wanting to call your name, ask you for advice, for help, for everything. Glancing at an empty doorway, swearing you were standing there, saying something that'd surely make him laugh. Instead there was nothing. The absence of something. The regret, the grief, the frustration at himself for not putting the pieces together. You spoke without words. Always had. A language he was still learning. Complicated, and delicate, the art of saying so much in silences, in unease and avoidance. He tried, he really did.
But he couldn't stop you. And he couldn't stop them.
Civilians like vultures, tearing your image apart. Media stars slandering you because there was no one else to stand up for you. Your good name shattered, bursting at the seams. Inside, and outside. You'd expected the push back. He hadn't. The rage, the annoyance, the name calling. Rash. Impulsive. Stupid. That's when they were being nice. Horrified you'd turn your back on them, never questioning why. This wasn't the easiest way to live, to exist. He'd thought about it a lot, but what else was there for him? Who else could he be if not a super soldier? You, though, you had options, you had wants and needs outside of a catchy alias and a photo opportunity. You were young, you had your life ahead of you. It'd be a damn shame if you let it go to waste. He fought with them as best he dould, hush their disgust, the disgrace, reminding them not too long ago they turned to you, called you one of their own, saved them more times than they were allowed to forget. Bitterness and blood on his tongue, he was tired of biting it all back. Couldn't they see they were part of the problem? They were falling into the same habits that made you want to scream?
He hoped you were happier there than you were here.
And you were. You were at ease now, at peace, choosing a path for yourself instead of following one that'd been laid out. No more secrets, no more lies, no more lives in your hands. You had one life to live, you weren't going to waste it being miserable. Going where you wanted, being who you wanted, nothing to hold you back. The urge to reach out never quite dulled, not even after all these years. You missed them more and more every day that passed. A call, a text, showing up out of nowhere. With ehat, though? An explination, an apology, ban awkward hug? Maybe too much time had passed, maybe you weren't allowed to call them your family anymore. To them, you were a stranger, but you never stopped thinking about them, keeping up with all their triumphs. Across each screen there'd be another report of the man with his shield or an iron suit saving the day. There seemed to be a new member with every report. Eventually, they forgotten all about you. The media, then, you assumed, the team, your name nothing more than a reminder that even if you played the part well, it didn't mean you were a real superhero. Let them think what they want, there was no use in changing their minds.
As far as you were concerned, you were the best of the best.
Sometimes he caught you in the faces of strangers, the acts of others, the smallest of details. He still looked for you, wondering where you were, where you'd gone, who you were now. You'd look different, of course, but maybe nothing had changed after all. Maybe he'd catch you there, like he hoped he would every time, in the doorway looking in, saying something that'd make him laugh. He still expected you next to him, across from him, in his life. If there was a way to contact you, he never pushed it. Let you come back your own way, on your own time, if you decided to ay all. That wasn't his choice to make. He'd never push you the way they did. He couldn't. You'd finally done something for yourself, he'd never do anything to ruin that freedom.

The Chapter Contains Enji Todoroki. If this makes you triggered, or uncomfortable don't proceed.

Tumblr media
#1. I Love How You Patch Me Up.
You let out a sigh as you dabbed Touya Todoroki's eyebrow with a cotton ball. He hissed as the hydrogen peroxide soaked ball of cotton made contact with his skin, burning him as it cleaned out the cut.
"Sorry."
"Just stings."
Touya watched you from the spot where he sat on the barstool. You pulled your lip between your teeth and he knew you were upset. Upset that you had to make him sit through the extra pain of cleaning out his cuts with ointment and peroxide.
You weren't just upset, but livid. Livid that his father would hurt him like this. Livid that his mother didn't step up and protect him. Most of all, you were livid that she wouldn't even stay around to clean him up, but rather left him to patch himself up.
Your heart hurt for Touya, it truly did. You knew what it was like to have your father, a respected man, lay a hand against you—that's how you originally met Touya in the first place.
You were both in a local drug store looking for peroxide and medical materials, the same day with the same purpose and reasons. You both happened to reach for the same bottle as if fate intended for you to meet. You ended up helping him patch himself up that day.
You carefully pressed a bandaid over Touya's eyebrow cut before moving onto a new one. Your eyes briefly flashed down to his teal orbs before going back to your task at hand.
"Why'd he get so angry this time?"
"I told my parents I wanted to apply to UA. Enji told me I wasn't cut out to be a hero, I disagreed."
"And your mother? What did she say."
"She didn't say anything... But I know she agrees with him."
Your hand pressed down harder on Touya's cut. Sensing your anger, Touya pulled your hand from his cut cheek to his mouth. Ignoring the pain from his busted lip, he kissed your tense knuckles.
"I hate them so much. I hate how he treats you. I hate how she doesn't stop it. She doesn't even try!"
"Can you really blame her? If she intervened then my busted face would be hers. If he didn't hit me, he would be hitting her."
"That's not how a mother should act. A mother would step in, a mother would protect you. You protect her so much, but she has never done shit for you."
"How would you know? You don't even have a mother."
His comment deeply bothered you, but you knew that it didn't come out of malice but rather a defense. It didn't make it hurt any less, however, you didn't retaliate with words but actions.
With a tight smile, you soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and aggressively press Touya's lip with the substance. He winced, but he couldn't be mad. You would never hurt him on purpose, instead, you took out your anger by cleaning him up, something that you knew would hurt him but something that essentially needed to be done.
"I'm sorry, that was mean."
"It was."
"I just hate when you talk bad about her, she's not a bad person. He is, but she's not. She's sweet with Fuyumi and Natsou, it's just cause' I look so much like him. She thinks I'm just like him."
A tear falls down from Touya's pretty teal eyes. It dribbled down his cheek and mixed in with his cuts. You turned your own gaze to the ground, as you couldn't help but let a few of your own fall as well.
"You're not your father Touya."
"You're right, I'm not my father. That's why it doesn't matter if I let him hurt me, cause' at least I know I'm not enabling a monster like him to hurt my mom."
Touya slips his arms around your waist and pulls you closer between his legs. He used his hand to tilt your chin up making you look him in the eyes as his other hand traced circles into the bare skin of your hip above your jeans.
"I wish we could just get away from them all."
Touya let his head rest against your chest and he softy murmured into your skin as you ran your fingers through his bright orange locks.
"One day I'm leaving and I'm not coming back. You'll come with me, right?"
Your lips quirked up into a small smile. You leaned your neck down and kissed the top of Touya's head.
"Of course. After all, you'd be hopeless without your unlicensed doctor."
"I think you meant my pretty, unlicensed doctor."
Touya could still feel the heat from your kiss on his head, lingering and begging for more. It was then in that moment as you patched up his wounds that he realized how he really felt about you. He really wanted to say those three unspoken words, the words he was so cautious about handing out, but he didn't. Instead, he held his best friend and let her patch up his face.

#2. I Love How You Won’t Let Me Go. (Even When I Push You Away.)
He knew what he was doing was horrible. He knew what he was doing was going to break your heart. He was doing the worst thing. It would be like stabbing you in the chest and twisting the knife.
Touya Todoroki knew what he was doing would hurt you, but that didn't stop him from packing his bag with any essential items he would need. He knew it would hurt you, but that didn't stop him from discreetly leaving you a heartfelt goodbye letter in your mailbox before he headed off to school.
He knew it would hurt you, but that didn't stop him from walking to the nearest bus stop right after school got out. He knew it would hurt you, but he still bought a ticket to the farthest destination anybody would look for him, a ticket he bought a week in advance from his departure date.
He knew it would hurt, yet he still attempted to go through with it. What he hadn't expected was to see you standing there at the bus stop when he arrived. He hadn't expected to see you, arms crossed with a furious look spread across your face.
"Were you really going to leave?"
His eyes flowed from the scorned look of betrayal on your face down to your hand which held the letter he left in your mailbox. It was bunched up in your fist and your knuckles were white from clenching it so hard.
He could see the tears building up at your eyes, and his chest felt heavy with regret. He pulled on the arm straps of his backpack tighter. He was scared of hurting you. He was careful to choose his next words, wary of breaking you even more.
"How did you even get from school to home to here so fast?"
"Maybe if you hadn't been avoiding me like the black plague, you would've known that I was absent from school today."
"Why were you absent? Did your father-"
"Don't. Don't ask about my father. You don't have that right, not after you broke your promise."
The tears started dribbling down your cheeks and you looked up at the sky to avoid looking at him with your blurry tear-filled orbs.
"You promised. You promised that you would take me with you. You said we’d escape our parents together… But you were going to leave without me. You weren't even going to give me an actual goodbye."
Your voice sounded quiet and simply broken. The tone you used with him was hurt and lifeless. He wished you would scream, he wished you would yell. Anything would be better than the broken tone you held. Anything would be better than the broken tone he caused.
"How could I take you with me? I'd just be dragging you down."
Touya took a deep breath and closed his eyes, mentally preparing himself for the words he had to say to you.
"You wanna know why I got so distant? My mom got put in a mental institute and our last conversation was her telling me I was gonna end up just like Enji. I can't be anywhere near you. I won't let myself treat you like he treats people."
Touya made the motion to turn as his tears started to leak down his eyes. He started to turn away from you, letting his last words to you serve as a goodbye. You quickly grabbed onto his arm, stopping him and pulling him back. You would not let him go, not like this.
“I'm not a good person, [Y/N], it's better if I just leave."
"I will not let you walk away from me, I will not let you walk away from the past seven years. If you can look me in the eyes and truthfully say our friendship has meant nothing, that I have meant nothing to you, then I'll let you walk away."
“That's not fair. I could never say that to you. I'm not leaving because of you. I'm leaving for you. For fuck's sake! If my own mother, my flesh and blood, couldn't love me then no one can. I'd just drive you insane.”
“That's bullshit! Cause' I love you, and I'll always love you."
The thing you so belligerently tried to keep from your best friend was out in the open. You felt naked and vulnerable now that the words were out of your mouth.
"You love me?"
His voice sounded so hesitant and scared of the answer. He looked at you but you were looking at the ground, scared to meet his eyes. You took a deep breath before divulging in the secret you kept so well.
"You’re the reason I have the strength to wake up every day despite knowing what's in store with my dad. You make it worthwhile every day when I see you in school, you make me feel like I'm actually important. I love you, I've always loved you... And if you still want to leave despite knowing that, then just leave.”
Touya cupped your cheeks in his hands and tilted your face up, forcing you to look up at him. His hands on your cheeks felt warm, you wished for nothing more than to stay like that.
“You always take time out of your day for me. Whether it's homework, an injury, or just to ask me about my day, you're there. You’ve never once got disgusted by my scars. I think I love you more than I value my own life and that scares me.”
Touya pressed his lips against yours. They felt warm and soft. You could smell his distinct scent of ash from his quirk. Words could not describe the way you loved the way ash smelt on him.
“But I can't stay with a family who hates me. Come with me doll. Leave your shitty dad and come with me.”
“Touya, I’d follow you to the ends of the earth if it meant being with you.”

#3. I Love How You Don’t Judge Me.
With a grocery bag in his hand, Touya unlocked the door to the dingy motel room you had been staying in together. It wasn't much, but it wasn't somewhere someone would think to look for the son of the famous hero Endeavor. It wasn't much, but you didn't care as long as he was with you.
Touya locked the door behind him before walking further into the motel room and dropping the grocery bags at the foot of the bed where you laid reading a book. You looked up from your book and smiled at Touya.
“Hey there.”
Touya leaned down to your face and pressed his lips against yours, giving you a quick chaste kiss.
“Hi.”
"What’d you get at the store?”
“I got some instant ramen.”
“Same as yesterday, yummy.”
You picked up the grocery bag and carried it to the tiny microwave that the motel had provided in every room.
“Instant ramen in a rundown motel room. I'm sorry, I know it's not ideal.”
You turned your head to the side to look at Touya. A smile played on your lips as you made eye contact with him.
“I knew what I was signing up for when I came with you, besides, I like instant ramen.”
You added water to the containers and popped the ramen inside the microwave before pressing on the right buttons to turn it on. Touya came up behind you and wrapped his arms around you. He gave you another chaste kiss, this time on the side of your temple.
“Will you dye my hair?”
“Really? I really like your orange hair.”
You turned around in Touya's arms and looked him in the eyes to see if he was serious. It was so out of the blue, he had never had any interest in dying his hair before. As you ran your hands through his orange locks it wasn’t hard to guess what was going through his head. He was a spitting image of Enji.
“I have a job interview tomorrow, but I don't wanna go to it like this. I don't wanna go to it looking like a younger version of him. I want a whole new identity.”
“I really like your orange hair, but I'll love you no matter what hair color you've got.”
You walked over to the second grocery bag Touya had brought home and pulled out the black hair dye. You ripped the box open as Touya took a seat on a wooden chair in front of you. You ripped open the powders and dumped the powdered dye into the liquid chemical bottle before placing a lid on it and shaking it up.
“Tip your head back.”
You ran your fingers through his hair and applied the dye thoroughly as you rubbed it in his roots. You made sure not to leave a single inch of orange hair untouched.
You washed your hands and set a timer on your phone before retrieving your ramen bowls from the microwave and placing one in front of him and taking your place in the chair across from him.
“Thank you, doll.”
“Of course babe. I just hope it takes to your hair well, orange hair can be unpredictable when dyeing. We might have to go to the store and get another box.”
Touya sat there with you, happily eating away at the ramen you cooked for him. He wasn't sure how much time had passed when you asked the question he dreaded you asking.
“What's the job interview for?”
Touya bit down on his lip as he debated whether or not he should tell you. If he honestly told you what the job was, then you might get mad. On the other hand, he wanted to have an honest relationship with you.
“It’s for a position in the league of villains.”
You stared at him speechlessly as the timer went off on your phone. He wasn't sure what to make of your expression. You didn't look mad, or angry, but you didn't look happy or pleased either. Despite being best friends for most of your lives, Touya couldn't identify your expression. Not being able to tell what you were feeling made Touya nervous.
“You should wash your hair.”
“[Y/N]-”
“Go wash your hair before it falls out!”
He knew you were angry. He thought you were. You had to be. So instead of staying to talk it out, he retreated to the bathroom to wash out the chemicals as you took a seat on the edge of the bed. Each minute that passed felt like years to the both of you.
After what felt like a millennium, Touya emerged from the bathroom with a now black stained towel in his hand. You took a deep breath before smiling at your lover as he walked closer to you.
“You want to be a villain?”
“I- I know you're upset and disappointed, but I can't be a hero. I can't be that heroic guy you want and need. You can judge me all you want, but I can't be that.”
“Oh, baby… I would never judge you.”
You reached up and grabbed Touya by the sides of his head. With your thumbs, you wiped away the tears that had begun making their way down his cheeks and you gently pulled his face down to yours. Touya got on his knees and wrapped his arms around you as you cradle his face on your chest.
“I’m not upset, or disappointed either. You want a new identity, I understand that. I literally just dyed your hair, I'll even help you pick a new name. I was just shocked to hear you say, villain.”
“I can't be a hero [Y/N], they're so corrupt. I- I can't be someone like Enji. He was a hero and he was a bastard. I'm sorry if you hate me for this but I can't be someone like that.”
“Hey, I said I wasn't gonna judge you, and that meant I wouldn't ever hate you either. It just scares me. Hero or villain, it's a risky occupation.”
You run your fingers through Touya's newly black damp hair. It felt nice to him and it did miracles to soothe his tears. There were countless times where he found himself in this exact spot growing up, usually after he and Enji had a fight.
“It's a risky occupation. But hey, if you get to do something dangerous, then I can too.”
“[Y/N].”
“If you're joining the villains, then I am too. Who else will bandage up your wounds properly? Somebody's gotta keep you alive.”
Touya pressed his lips against yours. This kiss wasn't a chaste one like earlier, but one of longing and want. It was filled with lust and passion and hunger.
“Okay, we’ll do it together.”

#4. I Love How You Reassure me.
You sat on the closed edge of the toilet in your shared apartment as you stared down at the tiny thin stick in your hands. You were nervous and your whole body was tense as you stared at the stick with anticipation as you waited for the timer on your phone to go off.
Every passing minute felt like decades and with every passing second, the pounding of your heartbeat got faster. The timer beeped and you looked at the stick for the results. Two lines were present signifying positive.
The tears sprang from your eyes. You weren't sure what the appropriate response should have been but the whole situation left you feeling overwhelmed. What kind of lifestyle would you be bringing a child into? You were a villain now, and although you worked for the league of villains in a more medical aspect, your lover, the father of the baby, held a big role for the league of villains.
Occupations set aside, you weren't even married, nor did you and Dabi, the name Touya was going by these days, had much knowledge on how to raise a child. Yet the more you thought about how you carried something so precious in your womb brought a soft smile to your face. The more you thought of raising a child with Dabi, you felt better and more secure.
You heard keys jingling in the apartment doorknob followed by the sound of boots coming in the doorway and you could soon hear Dabi's deep voice resounding throughout the house.
"Sweetheart? I'm home."
You started to panic as you heard him walk closer to the bathroom. Should you hide the test, or just tell it to him straight? There was a slightly unsettling feeling in your stomach that Dabi wouldn't be happy about the predicament, but you had an open and honest relationship with Dabi.
The door to the bathroom was pushed open and Dabi made his way inside ready to scold you.
"You're sick, you should be resting in bed."
Being sick was just an excuse to take a day off from league work to slip away and buy your pregnancy test. To be fair, you were sick earlier due to morning sickness.
"I'm feeling better now, and, I uh, I have something for you."
You looked at the ground and ran one hand through your hair nervously as you used your other hand to push the pregnancy test into his hand. He took it, not even realizing what it was. Not even realizing how that tiny stick would impact his life. It didn't take him long to realize what it was as he looked down at the pink stick with two red lines.
"This a pregnancy stick."
"Yeah."
"Two lines. Is that positive?"
"Well, I wouldn't be giving you a pregnancy test if it was negative, would I?"
Dabi numbly took a seat on the edge of the bathtub across from you. To Dabi, children were not in the life plan, he never even let himself entertain the thought of kids. Sure, you were financially better than when you first left home together, rather than bouncing from dingy motel to motel you lived in a nice apartment, but you were both barely over twenty-one, your career choice was villainy, not to mention you both never had the best example of what a parent should be.
"It has to be wrong, we've been careful. You- you can't be pregnant."
Your eyes which had been trained on the floor finally looked up and met Dabi's orbs. You knew he might not want your baby, but you hadn't expected him to look so distraught and sick about it.
"Well I am, and I'm not aborting. This child is a part of you and me, I won't abort them."
"We can't raise a child."
"I can raise a child, what you mean is that you don't want to raise a child together."
"I didn't say I don't want to, I said I can't."
A tear dribbled down Dabi's cheek. You pulled him off the edge of the bathtub, onto his knees with his head against your chest. His comfort space, the space he would always find himself crying as he grew up. You ran your hand through Dabi's raven dyed hair, your signature move to quell his tears.
"I know what you're thinkin' and it's not true. You're not gonna be like him, you're not him."
"He's always going to be biologically a part of me. He was a shit dad and a shit husband. I don't wanna be like him."
"Just cause he's your dad, doesn't mean your gonna be like him. You're a good man and you'll be a great dad. You're not gonna hurt me, or this baby. You won't be like Enji."
Dabi slid his head from your chest to your stomach. A smile made its way across his stapled face as he let himself entertain the domestic thought of having a family with you.
"If we're having a baby then we might wanna look for a bigger apartment."

#5. I Love Everything You Create.
Dabi leaned over the sleek black bassinet and peered down. His precious baby lay there sound asleep. She had trademark teal blue eyes like his, but your nose. although she looked very distinctly you, she had red hair from Dabi. Although it was very Todoroki like, he didn't care. He didn't care that it tied him to Enji because it also tied her to himself and you. She was his baby, his pride and joy. She was the greatest gift you could have given him. She was his and yours to cherish and love, he wouldn't give that up for anything.
The baby began to stir and Dabi hesitated as he looked at her. Sometimes she would just fall back to sleep, but today was not one of those days. Her little cries began to start and Dabi swooped her up into his arms. With her head against his shoulder, he carefully swayed her back and forth immediately quelling her cries.
She didn't fall back to sleep but she laid there quietly in his arms. She was just a little over a year old but she was already a daddy's girl.
"You hungry?"
Dabi smiled as he heard Akari's little excited gurgles and giggles. He carried her down to the kitchen and pulled out a container of baby food from the fridge. Before quickly tossing it in the microwave.
Dabi pulled Akari closer to his chest and away from his shoulder so he could move around and do things in the house while securely holding her. Akari, deciding she wants more attention, pulls her hands towards her father's face and yanks on one of his staples.
"Ah."
Dabi swiftly put Akari in her baby high chair before grabbing a towel and wiping his face to get rid of the small blood that came along with the staple.
"Da! Da!"
Dabi weakly smiled in his daughter's direction as to not worry or frighten her. This wasn't the first time she had pulled his staples out, but it didn't hurt any less with each time she did it. Once the bleeding let up Dabi tossed the towel on the counter and picked Akari back up, giving Akari the attention she was trying to get.
"You're daddy's little menace, aren't you? Huh?"
Akari giggled and buried her face in Dabi's neck, it sent a smile onto Dabi's face. She was so perfect and every second he spent with her he couldn't understand why Enji ever treated him and his siblings the way he had. When he held Akari all that came to his mind was how he would do anything to protect her. Her and you. All he could think about was how precious and special you both were to him.
"Why didn't you wake me?"
Dabi turned his head to the side to see you leaning against the doorway. Your head was all over the place due to bed head and you wore Dabi's oversized t-shirt and a pair of jogging pants. You looked completely frumpy but to Dabi, you were nothing less than perfect.
"I wanted to let you sleep in."
"I enjoyed the sleep, but I'd rather have been up with my lovelies."
You walked over to Dabi and Akari. You dipped your head down to hers and kissed her head before leaning up to kiss Dabi, you stopped midway as you saw his cheek. You brought your hand up and creased his cheek.
"Did she pull your staple out again?"
"Yeah. She's got a mean steak, I still think we should have named her Void."
You reached into the cupboard to pull out a bandaid to patch your lover up.
"Void is such a bad name, so was Winslow."
You took the wrapper off the bandaid and pressed it against Dabi's face. He gave you a soft smile as he placed his hand over your hand that was on his cheek.
"I'm glad you married me, you know that right? I know we did it cause' you were pregnant, but I wouldn't change it."
You pressed your lips against Dabi's briefly before pulling away and smiling at him.
"You and Akari are everything to me. I love you, and everything you've given me. I wouldn't change it, and I wouldn't trade it for anything."

You sat in the cold steel lab, next to a pile of machines that whirled in the silent room. Small wires attached to your temples and hooked into the computers. You didn't know how you imagined Shuri, but a small 16 year old girl was definitely not it. This was who was going to be prying and prodding through your brain? I guess this is how S.H.I.E.L.D felt the first day you showed up. The thought made you stifle a laugh under your breath and wish you could only remember.
Every 10 minutes after scanning the hologram which hovered just above the desk she would stop, and ask if you were okay to continue. You would nod, unable to actually create coherent words. The process of regaining your memories was excruciating, to say the least. Shuri made it better though. She was bubbly and kind. Her voice was bright and reminded you of the wind chimes your mother used to hang on the porch.
Another blast of electricity surged through your brain, causing you to double over and yelp.
"Okay, okay, that's enough for today." She announced, crossing the room and placing a hand on your shoulder. You flinched her away desperately trying to focus away the pain.
"No. Keep going." You gasped, steadying your breath.
"Y/n, we have to take this in steps. If we dig too deep we can risk serious brain damage, or worse." She explained. You looked up at her concerned face, tears welled in your eyes but you quickly wiped them away.
"Dr. Shuri, please-”
"It's Shuri. Just Shuri. And no, I’m serious. I think we've retrieved some core memories, but there's no way to be sure." She spoke over you, turning her computer off and carefully removing the wires from your head. You winced as she pulled them out, but you were finally able to breathe right again. “We’ll just have to keep tabs on ya’.”
"How will we know what I remember?" You asked, watching her pack her equipment away.
"You won't," She stated, placing a small alcohol wipe in your hand. You blotted the small incisions the wires left behind. Gross.
"But, we'll keep doing bi-weekly checkups and monitor your behavior. There could be trigger words that Hydra has hidden in your brain. The last thing we need is you going all ‘Winter Soldier’ on our asses." Shuri giggled to herself and patted you on the back. You tried to hide the scream of pain that erupted from her contact. You suppressed a cry and smiled as best you could.
"Thank you Dr- um, Shuri. Seriously, I can't tell you what this means to me." You corrected, getting up and following him out of the room.
"Anytime. This is my new specialty I guess. I think I should consider updating my resume to super soldier fixer-upper."
You walked through the compound slowly, still unsure where everything was. Steve had assigned you a bedroom on the top level, close to Agent Romanoff, or Nat as she had asked you to call her. She and a few other former Avengers occasionally stayed in Wakanda after everything went south in Nigeria.
You hadn't really been asked if you wanted to stay here, but Nat explained that Hydra was keeping close tabs on you. It would be safer for you here while you remembered what it is they needed.
As you continued through the hallways you happened upon a large floor to ceiling mirror. You tried to not look, but your curiosity got the better of you.
Your hair was a knotted mess yesterday morning, so you decided to braid it back. Now, long strands fell from it, curling around your face and neck adding to your dishevelment. Dark circles bloomed under your y/e/c and reminded you of the sleep you so desperately needed. The faded Stark Industries tee-shirt hung loosely on your frame over the black elastic biker shorts Nat had given you to borrow. She promised she'd take you back to your Brooklyn apartment at some point to collect your own clothes. You huffed, trying and failing to tuck the few strands that fell from your loose braid back, only having two more shake loose.
As you rounded the corner you noticed two large metal doors. Loud thuds and grunts were protruding out from behind them. The closer you got, the better you could see through the small window.
Nat was sending a graceful roundhouse kick to Bucky's neck. He stumbled taking a few steps back but ultimately gained his balance again. You swallowed a gasp. Bucky was close to twice Nats size. You watched in amazement as she ducked between his legs, sending a swift elbow to the crook of his knee. He immediately dropped.
Quietly you slipped through the gym door, careful not to disturb the two while they circled each other slowly.
You watched in awe as Bucky threw a punch with his metal arm at Nat, who skillfully dodged it, grabbing his wrist and twisting. With the added momentum she swung onto his shoulders, still grasping his arm and yanked him backwards onto the mat with a loud thud.
"Holy shit!" You gasped, and quickly regretted it as the two super heros looked up. You knew they were on your side, but damn. You didn't know how anyone picked a fight with either of them. They both looked so venomous. Nats face softened when she registered your wide eyed gaze.
"She lives!" The Black Widow announced, laughing as she grabbed a towel, patting her sweat slicked face. Bucky stood then slowly, watching you intently like he was waiting for something.
You grin sheepishly and nodded. "That she does. Damn, Mr. Rogers wasn't kidding around. I still feel like I'm vibrating." You chuckled.
"Remember anything?" Bucky spoke suddenly, watching you carefully. You shook your head.
"No, not really. Shuri said it'll take time. That she recovered something, but-" you huffed, a little frustrated and body still sore. "I got this wicked headache instead." You finished. Bucky chuckled and ran his metal hand through his dark hair.
"So," You began, approaching the sparring mat, "do you think you could show me how to do that?" You ask Nat, referring to her insane fighting skills. Her eyes sparkled and she laughed softly.
"I don't know Y/n," she motioned for you to step onto the mat, "think you got what it takes?"
Her dazzling grin dropped almost as fast as her fist flew through the air. You could tell instantly that the blow would miss you entirely, but in that moment something snapped. You closed your eyes and you felt your whole body burst into flames. Images flashed through your mind and when you opened your eyes, everything moved in slow motion.
You looked to your left, watching the assassin's fist fly closer and closer. You tried to take a step back, but your body seemed to switch into auto pilot. In one smooth motion you blocked her wrist, and almost as fast jabbed her side with a harsh blow.
Natasha stumbled back, stunned. You looked down at your hands, like it was the first time you were actually seeing them. Holy shit.
“Oh God, Nat. I didn't mean to!"
Another fist flew at you, to which you ducked, dropping into a squat position you kicked your right leg out. In the same motion you twisted your body, sweeping your foot across the mat and taking Nat down as she gasped. You looked up at her, eyes wide and panting. What the-
"Fuck." Bucky finished your thought. Natasha rubbed her hip in discomfort as she reached for Bucky's hand, pulling her up.
"What the hell was that?" She challenged. You stood, stumbling back a few paces and raising your hands in surrender. What the hell had just happened?
"I- I don't know..." You stuttered, "Nat, I'm so, so sorry I-'' she waved her hand stopping you.
"I'm fine, don’t ever apologise for kicking someone's ass... Maybe you remembered something after all?" She spoke, raising a perfectly arched eyebrow sarcastically.
"My turn." Bucky rumbled. You would have frozen at the darkness in his voice, but your instincts kicked in. The soldier leaned back on his right foot, sending his left rocketing through the air and towards your face. Fire erupted through your body again, startling you awake.
Gracefully you wrapped your arm around Bucky's impending kick, absorbing the blow. His sheer strength made you stumble back a little, but you quickly slid back into the routine.
"Попался” Gotcha’, you smirked. Bucky looked at you, mouth slightly agape.
“What did you just-” He didn't have a chance to finish as you twisted your body, bringing your elbow up delivering it down onto his shoulder with a loud crack. You finished him off with a swift kick through his legs, tackling him to the floor.
"Ow," he mumbled through jagged breaths. You gawked at him in disbelief, holding his hands above his head, straddling the super soldier's waist. Bucky shifted slightly, realising the compromising position you both were in.
"Gotta hand it to ya, punk. That one actually tickled." He chuckled, as you removed your hands from his wrists. He noticed your body was still unmoving, eyes almost glassy. Carefully he tapped your thigh, knocking you back into reality. You physically shook your head, trying to center yourself.
"What happened?" You asked, still straddling Bucky. He looked at you quizzically, trying to read your face for any answers, but came up short.
"Y/n, I think we need to talk to Shuri again." He offered, picking you up by the waist and helping you off the mat.
"Yeah, I think that's probably a good idea." You said, staring wide eyed at the two former assassins.
When you entered the lab, you noticed Shuri was still there. She paced around the room, picking up sheets of paper, scanning them quickly before she looked at the hologram.
"Not possible." She breathed, still unaware of your presence. Bucky cleared his throat, alerting the engineer to the three of you.
"Holy crap!" She jolted. "Hasn't anyone ever told you not to sneak up on a girl with an endless arsonal of deadly weapons before?" Shuri clutched her heart, steadying her breath.
"No, actually." You voiced. Buck coughed trying to cover his laugh.
"Listen, babe. It's important," Nat started, entering the lab further and hoisting her petite figure onto an examining table. "Y/n just handed Bucky his tight ass without breaking a sweat, so we were just wondering... What the fuck?" She emphasized that last word with a raised brow and wide eyes. Bucky scoffed and rolled his eyes as if to say 'she hit you too.' You thought it was probably the cutest thing in the world, watching the former assassin stuff his hands into his pockets and glare at her like he was a kid.
"Y/n, how do you feel?" Shuri spoke, ignoring Natasha, which didn't bother her as she swung her legs daintily off the table.
"Um, fine I think. I'm a little tired but besides that-"
"What's happening here?" Captain America suddenly boomed, storming into the lab. You flinched, startled by his loud voice. Both Nat and Bucky look totally unfazed while Shuri only rolled her eyes. I guess Captains mood swings were a normalcy around here.
Natasha explained the situation to him while he passed the room, arms crossed and a scowl permanently glued to his face.
"How could you let this happen?" Steve finally barked, pointing an accusatory finger at Shuri. You thought if he had spoken to you like that you would melt away, but the small teen only scoffed and brushed him off.
"Hold up, Boomer. I didn't let anything happen. You brought her to me." She started, looking at you almost apologetically. "You told me to find Y/n's memories. That's what I'm doing. Unless you think you could do a better job with your zero years of education and that dinner plate you call a 'shield?'" She scoffed and went back to looking at her computer.
“You made my shield” Steve huffed under his breath.
“Uh, no. How dare you? I would never, the thing is incredibly impractical. I did make it better though.” Shuri mocked the Captain. Jeesh, the girl truly had balls, that's for sure.
"How do you feel?" Steve questioned. It took you a solid five seconds to realise he was looking at you.
"Oh, I'm fine. Yeah, I'm fine. Just really confused." You mumbled, terrified you were going to set the Super Soldier off again.
“Well I can shed some light, would that be okay with you, old man?” Shuri spoke sarcastically to Steve. He only rolled his eyes and waved his hand motioning her to carry on.
“I ran your blood through a few tests. I don't know how I didn’t see this before. I mean it's right in front of us. You failed the drug test. By like, a lot. Which I thought was weird but to each their own ya know? Anyways, I looked into it and your body is literally emanating radiation, which got me thinking. The only people I know who literally sweat steroids are-”
“She’s a Super Soldier.” Steve interrupted. You stared at him wide eyes and back to Shuri. This wasn't possible. You didn't feel super. Actually you felt pretty crappy, to say the least.
“Not exactly. At least, Y/n doesn't have the same chemical compound as you. Whatever serum she's drugged up on, it's not one I've ever seen before.” Shuri finished, holding a test tube of your blood up and analysing it. You felt like you were going to throw up. You didn't know if it was the chaos of the situation or the fun new information that past life Y/n was a steroid junky but it was enough to make you lightheaded. You stumbled back a few paces, uneasy on your feet. A strong arm wrapped itself around your waist, steading you before you could fall. You looked up at Bucky's warm smile suddenly feeling a little more at ease. Gotcha. He mouthed, and you took a deep breath. I am calm, I am okay… Just, breathe.
Ten minutes later and a bunch of arguing the room finally stilled. Shuri explained how she suspected Hydra had a weapon similar to the super-soldier serum, only more complex. The whole thing made very little sense to you.
"Why would Hydra inject me with the serum?" You argued, skeptically.
"Because, they physically couldn't make another drop. Y/n destroyed the lab with all their research. The one they gave to her was the first of its kind. It's flawed and unpredictable. Without her cooperating, recreating a serum was impossible. However, if they injected it into our friend here, they could monitor how it developed in a controlled environment." Shuri explained.
"So, you think the serum they gave me is their super secret weapon?" You asked, stunned. Shuri only nodded.
“You're the blueprint…” Bucky mumbled under his breath. You didn't know if he had meant for you to hear as no one else in the room seemed to notice he had even spoken.
"And you're sure it's in Y/n's system?" Nat asked, her eyes scanning over you.
"I mean, I guess there's only one way to know for sure. I have this…theory. I could be wrong, but I highly doubt it… Y/n, I think it's time you meet our resident teenage witch."
You followed the team into what looked they're common room. Plasma TVs hung on the walls and large floor length windows lined the room.
There sitting on the long couch was a girl. She looked to be about your age, maybe a little younger. You watched as red ribbons of electricity shot out of her hands and through the air like dangerous waves. The small tv remote hovered mid air as her red tendrils held it.
"Maximoff, front and center!" Steve announced loudly, startling the girl causing her to rocket the remote through the air. It flew past you, an inch from your face as it crumbled into the wall behind you.
"Holy shit!" You screamed, ducking as a delayed reaction and holding your hands over your head.
"Language..." Steve lectured under his breath. You mouthed a 'sorry' and stood up again.
"Didn't mean to startle you, I just have someone I'd like you to meet. He gestured towards you as her eyes followed.
"Hi." You spoke quietly. She smiled kindly and spoke apologetically, "Hi. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to throw electronics at you." She shrugged.
"Occupational hazard when you're around me. It's kinda' my thing." You chuckled at that.
"Perfect. Now that you've met... Wanda, will you please fight Y/n." Shuri spoke dryly. The girl, Wanda, looked from Shuri to you.
"Um, no?" You blurted looking at Shuri absolutely terrified. There was no way you were fighting this chick. She just fired a remote at your head with the ease and strength of a shotgun. Hell no.
"Please, you won't hurt her. It's for science." Shuri shrugged, but you weren't sold.
"Yeah, that's not happening. There's gotta be another way we can test your theory." You shook your head frantically. Wanda looked slightly intrigued, crawling across the couch and perching on the arm rest.
"What exactly would you have me do, Shuri?" She questioned, looking wickedly dangerous. The small engineer grinned, crossing her arms over each other.
"Do what we practiced." She cooed, dryly.
The team behind you took a few steps back. You hadn't realised they had deserted you until it was too late. Wanda created a small red blast of electricity in her palm. You watched as she shaped it like a snowball, carefully dropping it between her hands. You watched in awe as it sizzled and sparked between her fingers.
“I really, really don't like this idea.” You voiced, looking back at Steve and Shuri, who only watched in anticipation.
You turned back to face her as the energy surged towards your body. Before it could explode you crossed your arm over your face protecting yourself from its inevitable blow. But it never came.
Carefully you opened one eye, and then the other. More people now gathered in the common room. You looked around at their faces, landing on Bucky who, unlike his teammates looked horrified. You looked down at your hands then, and what you saw made you choke out a gasp.
Your whole body was glowing with the same red electricity Wanda has thrown at you. Your eyes darted up to her and she just stared at you in shock.
"What the hell is happening right now?" You yelled, terrified and feeling like your whole body was vibrating.
"Exactly what I thought would happen. You've absorbed Wanda's powers." Shuri spoke matter of fact, like this kind of thing happened every day. I guess with these people it did.
"Y/n, are you okay?" Bucky demanded. He felt powerless as he watched the Witch’s energy circled around you. You nodded, reassuringly. Though you didn't know if you believed it.
"Okay, what do I do. I don't want this-" you reached your arms out and with a bright flash of red, the electricity exploded from your hands, throwing Wanda off her seat and hurling her backwards. Quickly she caught herself mid air before she crashed through the window, hovering above the floor.
"Holy crap" She screamed, checking she was all in one piece "I sincerely apologise to anyone I've done that to. That really stings." She winced as she landed back on the ground.
"Shit, I didn't mean to. I'm so sorry!" You crossed the room, making sure she was okay.
Wanda laughed, "You sure do make a great first impression." She spoke sarcastically. You half smiled, not knowing how you could help.
"I guess that's kinda' my thing." You spoke, causing a dazzling smile to dance across Wanda's pink lips.
"This is so exciting! I’m going to run back to the lab and run a few more tests. Obviously you aren't able to control how you absorb your opponents powers. You're going to have to practice before we can try that again." Shuri spoke, tearing you away from your exchange with Wanda.
"I am not doing that again." You argued, horrified that you almost chucked Wanda out a plate glass window.
"Sure you are. Come now, science experiment, let's see what else you can do." You huffed and followed Shuri’s voice.

Atop the Office
Pairing: Horacio Carrillo/f!Reader (Narcos)
Word Count: ~3000
Warnings: It gets smutty. Of course it gets smutty. It’s why you’re here. It’s why I’m here. It’s my raison d’etre. But it got softer. I can’t stop this man from being soft.
Personal ramble: I didn’t intend to write a second chapter. I don’t intend to write a third. But this man got under my skin so who knows what will happen.
You can read Part 1: At Your Doorstep. It’ll make a lot more sense that way.
Tumblr media
You awaken later than intended to find yourself alone. You reach across the bed, but there's no warm body to touch or even residual warmth to feel. He's long gone.
You look around the room and there's no trace that he'd been there. Maybe it was just a dream.
You look at the clock and realize you're running late for work, and in a panic start to get ready.
When you go to brush your teeth, you see the 2 towels strewn across the floor. You pick them up and they're both still damp. It reminds you it had been real, which somehow feels worse. You had opened yourself to him, wide and raw and vulnerable and he had abandoned you without a second thought.
You rush through your morning routine and leave for work.
You arrive a little late, but no one seems to notice. You decide you'll stay a bit late to make up the work. You find the notes from yesterday and begin to compile your report.
Halfway down the page you find it and it hits you like a bus. "Colonel Carrillo…" His name doesn't elicit the usual reaction of lip tapping smiles. This time it cuts like a knife. What felt like your deepest, most intimate encounter was merely a one night stand.
After you devour lunch, having skipped breakfast entirely, you return to your desk. The deflation you felt has made you exhausted, but the report can't wait. You write accurately and factually, but your hero feels like a villain to you now, and it takes the 3 dimensionality out of the work.
While you're typing away, you hear them coming. The commanding footsteps. You know the sound of those boots. Involuntarily your fingers feel the memory of unlacing them the night before. Your mind flashes to those soft eyes watching you do it and you feel sick.
Instead of your usual beaming, you are flushing with embarrassment. You're humiliated and you duck your head down pretending to concentrate on your work. Out of the corner of your eye, the green uniform passes and you picture it on your floor. No. You push away the memory with force.
After half an hour of sighing into your papers and choking down the lump in your throat that precedes tears, you hear the footsteps again. They are approaching from the direction you are facing this time and you duck your head again, unable to face him.
The footsteps pause at your desk and you feel him hovering over you. You try to steel yourself before looking up, but you can't conceal the pain and anger in your expression.
He stands tall and stone-faced, but something flickers in his eyes as he registers your expression.
He leans down slightly and drops a manilla folder in front of you.
"Your boss wants this dealt with asap." He states and walks away.
You're confused. Why on earth would he be delivering a report to your desk. He doesn't even work here.
Looking around to see if anyone noticed this anomaly, you open the folder carefully, like it contains something confidential, suspecting it's for your eyes only.
In it you don't find a report, but instead there's a single piece of paper with neat handwriting in black ink.
"I'm sorry." Your heart sinks. You knew he thought you were a mistake. That this perfect man used you and regrets it. But you push on.
"I couldn't bring myself to wake a sleeping ángel." You gasp slightly and your heart jumps into your throat.
"Let me make it up to you. Dinner tomorrow. Meet me at the same restaurant at 7pm.
Horacio"
You silently whisper his name to yourself and the deep seeded intimacy of speaking it the night before floods you with longing.
You look behind you, but he once again is long gone.
You fold the paper and put it in your purse to protect it from prying eyes. But you also know you're saving it for later, so you can run your eyes over the words and linger on the word "ángel" like an enamoured school girl who had been passed a note in study hall.
***
The next day arrives and you show up to work glowing. You can't sit still all day and by the time the clock strikes 5 you're practically vibrating with anticipation.
You go home and change this time into a sundress that flatters your figure without giving too much away.
You make your way to the restaurant a bit earlier than you normally would. This man works on military time, you remind yourself, and punctuality isn't your strong suit.
You sit down and shortly after order yourself a drink. You should treat yourself. Feeling special will give you confidence, and after your first lukewarm date, you feel like you'll need it.
The drink disappears and the bowl of peanuts slowly empties.
8 o'clock rolls around and you realize you've been stood up. As you reach into your purse to get your wallet, your hand brushes by the folded paper with his name neatly scrawled across the bottom.
No.
No, you were not going to accept this.
You go to the counter and order 2 meals and have them packed up to go.
You hail a cab. "Carlos Holguin School." The driver considers it an odd request at this hour, but takes you there all the same.
It's quiet as you walk to the gate. You pull out your embassy badge and flash it at the surprised guard. He notices you are carrying a large brown paper bag, but your tone is sharp when you tell him the files you're delivering are urgent. Unable to find a reason to deny someone so harmless looking entry, he lets you pass.
You approach the office and take a deep breath before you enter, unsure of what's on the other side. Unsure if your intrusion will be welcome.
You enter the dimly lit room to see Colonel Carrillo leaning over his desk, leaning on his elbow with his forehead pressing on his hand.
He stands abruptly, startled by your presence.
The office is otherwise empty and all of a sudden you feel very aware of how inappropriate it was for you to come here at this hour, or at all really.
"How did you get in here?" He asks with a tone you assume he uses for interrogation.
"The, uh, guard let me in." You stammer. "I told him I was delivering files from the embassy."
You've misread the situation. This was a mistake.
He sighs. His posture and expression soften simultaneously as he realizes he put you on the spot.
"I'll have to have a talk with him." He says exasperated and a bit amused. "I'm sorry, it's been a long day."
"Too long for a dinner date apparently." You say coldly.
His expression hardens, but is quickly replaced by regret.
"I owe you an apology, an important lead crossed my desk and I couldn't get away. I didn't even realize it was so late until you came in."
You arched your eyebrow at him.
"And I owe you another apology. I'm sorry I left your home so abruptly. I got a call that required my urgent attention and I had to practically run out of your apartment."
"You could have left a note." You were clearly angry and hurt.
"I didn't have time. I…" he trailed off. "There's no excuse."
"You could have called." You should have called your mind corrected you.
He smiles slightly. "I don't have your number."
Your eyes go wide at your own stupidity. You never gave it to him. His smile widens a little at the look on your face.
You glance around the office at the scads of surveillance equipment.
"You can track the phone calls of criminals on an international scale but you can't get a hold of my phone number?" You counter with a tinge of frustration overshadowed by your amusement.
He chuckles. "Fair point."
"So what's in the bag?" He asks, changing the subject.
"As I told your guard, important files from the embassy." You smirk.
He lets out a laugh. You've never heard him laugh before and it makes your heart smile.
"Your files smell a lot like empanadas."
"I figured you hadn't had a chance to eat." You scan across his desk to the bottle next to the smoke curling from an ashtray. "And you can't subsist on alcohol and cigarettes alone."
"It does smell good." He concedes.
"You need to take better care of yourself." Your tone is more serious and laced with concern than you meant it to be.
"Then I'm lucky I have a guardian ángel looking out for me."
When he hits the world "ángel" you smile. The wide, beaming, embarrassing smile you give him when he passes your desk.
He smiles back at you, realizing he's been forgiven.
You walk over to his desk and he grabs a chair from another part of the room. You sit down next to him and tuck into your meals.
You say very little to each other, but it's far better than the awkward first date the other night.
He's relaxed around you.
You finish the meal and clean up. He leans back in his chair a little and looking regretfully at you says "I should get back to work."
Leaning on his desk you lay your hand gently over his. "Must you?" You ask softly.
Your hushed tone reminds him of last night. How tender you were when he needed you most. How you let him fall asleep in your embrace. How you are his ángel.
He stands up and you stand to meet him. He puts his hands on your waist and sits you down on the edge of his desk. His firm but gentle grip positioning you to his liking. He runs his hands up to your back and moves closer.
He kisses you softly, and you lean into his kiss. You spread your legs so he can move closer and you feel the warmth of him against your body.
You place your hands against his chest, feeling the scratchy fabric of his uniform.
"Oh Horacio." You sigh.
That name is so seldom spoken in this place that it melts the room away. And it is only the two if you, two bodies and two heartbeats.
He runs his hand over your hair from your crown to the nape of your neck.
His lips ghost over yours, playfully teasing and a shudder runs through you. You can feel his breath hot against your face.
Your eyes closed, he presses his lips to yours and you murmur into his mouth. You feel him smile against you as your lips part, allowing his tongue to slip past and gently massage yours.
Your hand finds the nape of his neck and your fingers start swirling circles into the base of his hair.
You go to unbutton his shirt, when his hands move to stop you. The reality around him suddenly crashes against the desire welling inside.
He looks at you, torn. He can't do this here, in his office, at his desk. But he can't bear to disappoint you again. He considers for a moment.
"I need you." You whisper.
Though he doesn't say it, he needs you just as much.
"Desperately." You whisper, almost a hiss.
The urgency settles in his chest and his resistance fades.
Your eyes pleading for his touch, you caress his face. "Please, let me take care of you, Horacio."
"No ángel, tonight I take care of you." His voice soft but still authoritative.
He unbuttons and removes the top of his uniform to reveal the green shirt underneath. You paw at it, much softer to your touch, tighter so it grants you a better feel of his muscular chest as you run your hands across it. It's slightly damp with his musky sweat.
His fingers run up the inside of your thigh to your panties and he feels you through the thin cotton. You moan.
"You're soaking wet." He muses.
"I've been thinking about you all day." You say breathily.
His eyes darken as he slides his fingers beneath the fabric and between your folds. Your hips roll at his touch.
He slides his fingers into you, pressing your walls with just enough force to make you tremble around him. You let him finger you with strong deliberate strokes and he watches your face as your lips tremble while you breathe heavily.
He cruelly pulls his fingers away. He then wipes them down his top lip, and into his mouth, smelling you, tasting you, imbibing your essence.
"Please Horacio." You whine.
Your desperation settling between your legs, you tighten your thighs to his hips and wrap your legs around him, which hikes up the hem of your dress.
He presses his erection against your practically dripping panties, and you feel the bulge rub against your clit. You moan at the contact.
He's becoming more frenzied now and stands you up by gripping your butt and pulling you forward. He reaches under your dress and hooks the waistband of your underwear. He swiftly jerks them down to the floor, and you step out of them. He pushes you lightly and you perch back stop the desk, legs wide.
He unbuckles his belt and leaves it hanging open at the front. After unbuttoning and unzipping his fly, he pushes his pants down to his knees. And his boxers quickly follow.
His erection is exposed and you lick your lips at its reveal. He grabs it firmly and directs his head through your slick folds, pressing harder at your clit. The pressure makes you moan.
His girth finds your opening and he glides it into you with more force than before. Your hips roll as he fills you fully and you cry out.
"Oh Horacio."
You are addicted to saying his Christian name. So few have the privilege and you let it tumble from your lips again and again. With each exclamation, he thrusts a bit harder, tries to feel you more deeply.
You grip him tightly, his shirt bunching in your fists, your legs around his barely exposed ass.
As you squeeze your walls tightly around him and your pleasure crests, you throw your head back and let out a strained and broken cry.
He buries his head in your neck and continues his rhythm. You feel him panting heavily on your collarbone and can hear him losing control.
The rhythm breaks, and with a few quick and uneven thrusts he spills into you, crying out. As he does, you push your hand into his hair and press his head into your neck.
As he pulls back from and out of you, you shudder and sigh. He grabs a box of tissues from his desk and gently wipes up between your legs, wiping himself clean shortly after.
You're surprised about how gentle he is, and he seems to read your mind.
"I told you I'd take care of you." He says, kissing your forehead.
He retrieves your panties from the floor and as he stands up, sniffs them. You smile at this quirk.
You both straighten your clothes so you're dressed but a bit dishevelled.
He takes your hands in his and looks at them once again like they could absolve him of his sins. He's so gentle despite how much larger his hands are than yours.
He pulls you towards him slightly and his eyes brighten indicating the spark of a new idea.
"Come, I want to show you something."
He disappears into a storage closet momentarily and he comes back holding a dark wool blanket.
He leads you out of the back of the small building and to a ladder on the side that leads to the rooftop. He indicates you should climb up and though you're not the most sure-footed person, you do so, with him following behind in case you slip.
As you reach the roof you look around. You're not very high up, but there's a gentle night breeze that takes your mind  out of the crowded city.
He spreads the scratchy blanket across the roof as if preparing for a picnic. Taking your hand in his, he sits you down on the blanket.
He sits beside you and putting your hand on his cheek, you gaze into his eyes. Soft, brown eyes, framed by perfect lashes and slight creases at the corners when he smiles.
He gazes back and puts his hand atop yours, holding it to his face. You sit like this for some time, hoping to better understand each other through this act of silent communication.
He runs your hand down to his jaw and swipes it across his lips, kissing your palm.
Still holding your hand, he lays you down on the blanket and lays down next to you. The wide open view of the sky lets you see the almost full moon and the few stronger stars that punctuate the city's haze.
You gaze at the sky, while he gazes at you, equally entranced.
"My ángel deserves the heavens." He whispers in your ear and you melt. You certainly did not expect to find a warrior poet beneath his khaki green armour.
You turn on your side and put your hand on his chest, over his heart. He wraps his muscular arm around your shoulder and pulls you tight to him. You close your eyes and breathe him in. You can't help but feel safe next to this man. This leader of armies and hunter of evil. A hard man who has grown soft for you.
You close your eyes.
The next thing you're aware of is the sun peeking over the skyline. Horacio is awake and helps you sit up to admire it.
"Good morning." He says quietly, his lips barely moving.
"It certainly is." You say, resting your head on his shoulder.
He wraps his arm around you and you bask in each other's steady breathing.
Suddenly it hits you, you have to get to work.
He goes to drop you at your apartment, but it's too late in the morning, so he lets you out a few blocks from the embassy. He squeezes your hand as you leave the car and you scurry to work.
He drives you off the base. As you pass the guard shack, Horacio - no, Colonel Carrillo, shoots the guard a stern look that says if you ask any questions you'll be doing pushups until you collapse. You're both waved through quickly.

BNHA Headcanon!
How Kaminari, Bakugo, Todoroki, Shinso, Dabi and Kirishima ask a certain question 💍 x fem!reader, y'all in your 20's
Warnings: cursing, long af(I couldn't help myself, I love all kiri's and non kiri's equally) no regrets.
Kaminari:
Tumblr media
Haha boi proposed on the first date tbh
You laughed at one of his cheesy pick ups. You did you unrestrained 'ugly' laugh. Like someone has to make you reeeaaallllyyy laugh.
Bb fell hard for that laugh,"marry me, y/n"
You fell just as hard "alright"
Him blushing like crazy 👍🏻⚡👍🏻
Fast forward a few years
If you don't think he's gonna do something big and romantic and on the verge of embarrassing, lol your wrong
This guy proposes with a fucking flash mob
1. How did he organize this? Bakusquad unite!
2. How'd this beautiful loud blonde keep it to himself? Mina threatened his existence & Bakusquad
So there you both are surrounded by family and friends, Denki down on one knee, opening a small box with a gorgeous ring inside.
"Y/n, can I do you the honor of telling you pickup lines for the rest of our lives?"
*swoons*
"You, dummy."
He falters a little. Um what? Sad boi
"I told you on our first date I would." You leaned down giving him a kiss.
Bb shines brighter than the three great sunshines combined. Yk who
"I love you, y/n."
"I love you too, Denki."
Your guy's version of ily is some random pickup line unless your in a serious mood
Everyone collectively groaned at your guy's wedding vows lmao
They were literally all cheesy pickup lines, terrible puns and bad jokes.
Bakugo:
Tumblr media
Bakugo fucking Katsuki is a closet romantic and you can't change my mind
He takes you hiking on one of your dates
You find a gorgeous spot accidentally you just had to take a short cut
Crystal clear lake w/ cherry blossom trees and a mt view? Heaven
This becomes your spot
You think nothing of it when katsuki suggests getting away for a weekend see romance
Getting in the car he throws a blindfold at you. "What's this for?"
"Just put it on idiot."
You roll your eyes, grinning like a fool but does what he asks
You drive for a bit then feel the car stop
"Can I take it off now?"
"No, I'll tell you when you can take it off." 😳 "I'm going to put noise cancelling headphones on you, do you trust me?"
You've learned to roll w/ his shenanigans cuz they are rare but always welcome. "Don't ask stupid questions, babe." Last thing you here is his 'tch'.
He gently tugs you out of the car and then sweeps you up into his arms. You can't help but smile.
He's been carrying you for at least 2hrs. "Kat, do you need a break?"
He just kisses you in response and silences you #1 hero bakugo doesn't do breaks
Al-righty then
Another hour goes by and you feel bakugo set you down softly, making sure you have your footing. He takes off the headphones
"Take off the blindfold."
You do. Your at your spot. You turn around to find your boyfriend toying w/a little black box
*heart palpitations ensue*
You look at him wide eyed.
He opens the box and you see a ring that is his mom's family heirloom. It's a vintage beauty that you've adored.
Tbh when he asked his mom for it he almost said never mind when she started asking a bunch of annoying questions.Old hag
"Will you marry me or whatever..." he's still bakugo lol
"Whatever." You say with the biggest grin
Bb narrows his eyes at you confused. "HUH?" Cuz how dare you???
"Saying 'yes' is too ordinary an answer. And you katsuki bakugo are anything but ordinary." You say as you slip the ring on your finger. Your man is stunned by your answer to do it himself. Lol
Just cuz you got him flustered and blushing does not mean he won't pull you into a passionate kiss.
Who's the mess now, dumb dumb?
Instead of saying 'I do' at the wedding you both say 'whatever'.
Nobody knows what the fuck is going on except kirishima because he's the one marrying you two.
Todoroki:
Tumblr media
You've know eachother since high school and started dating your 3rd year
Now years later, your both well established pro heros
Did you say vacation?
Because Shoto heard 3 week romantic dream vacation w/ a proposal ending
He worked so hard for this. He didn't want to use his father's money for once. This was going to be all him, no one else.
Well except his mom and sister helped pick out a ring. Clueless bb
He took you to all the places on your bucket list, ending in greece.
It was your last night there.
On a cliff overlooking the moonrise over the sea, you were snuggled up next to him. Warm wind gently caressing your skin.
You've noticed him being antsy and fidgety the last couple days.
And that is not like your shoto, at all
"Sho, you okay? You've been acting weird." You ask gently.
"Um, yes. Can I ask you something?"
You give him a kiss and nod.
"Would you do me the honor of becoming mrs. shoto todoroki?"
At least that's what you thought he said. He was so nervous it came out a jumbled mess.
He pulled a ring out of his pocket.
It was perfect. In fact it was exactly what you and fuyumi talked about in one of your guy's games of crazy hypotheticals. Haha jokes on you
You definitely started crying
Your sweet oblivious sho "If you don't like it-"
"No. It's perfect, I love it. Just like you." You pepper his face with kisses. "And yes I will marry you."
He has the biggest smile on his face as he takes your hand and slides the ring on.
You thought the Todorokis and your family were chaotic before? Lol let's throw in wedding planning 🙃
Two months before the wedding you two are sick of everything. Everyone trying to do everything the way they want this wedding. You both wanted a somewhat small gathering. Yeah no *insert monamas hysterical laugh*
Elope? Elope.
You gather a small group of your closest friends. Ok. More like all of class 1a
Shoto buys first class tickets to greece for everyone. No qualms of using his dad's credit card this time lol
SHOTOOOOOOOOO!!!
You and shoto get married in front of all your friends on the cliff where he proposed.
It was beatiful & perfect. Exactly what you guys wanted.
So when the 'real' wedding (endeavors words) happens you and shoto fuck with it any way you can.
You both have the best time messing around. Your guy's parents not so much. But they end up seeing how happy you both are so they give up on having the perfect wedding.
A few years later when you find out your pregnant you both seriously debate faking your deaths and going into hiding. Wouldnt be the first Todoroki to do so
Shinso:
Tumblr media
You guys frequently visit the animal shelter to give loves to all the animals
He saw how attached you were with a bonded pair of ragdoll kittens he loved them too
This gave him an idea, he had been having a hard time of thinking how he was going to pop the question
It was pur-fect don't judge me
It was early in the morning, you were still in bed when you felt something tickle your nose
"Mmh,...toshi. Your hair is tickling me." Still sleepy, not even bothered to open your eyes.
You were greeted w/ small meows
Your eyes never snapped open so fast in the morning
Two tiny kittens before you. The ones from the shelter
Wide awake now you began petting them and playing with them
Haha shinso who?
He was silently watching from the doorway smiling, waiting for his moment
You looked at the kittens collars. Scribbled in shinsos handwriting "marry" on one "me" on the other.
You gasped and your mouth formed a little o.
He was waiting for this. He walked over and got on his knee, ring in his hand
"Y/n, please, will you be mine, forever?"
Leaning in lips almost touching "only if you'll be mine."
Say no more, boi is putting a ring on it and closes the gap between your lips.
The only thing that breaks the kiss is a soft tiny paw patting your cheek and another playing with shinos hair
You giggle. "You got them for yourself just as much, didn't you?"
He just rubs the back of his neck and gives you a smirk
You spend the rest of the day trying to pick names.
You guys decide on satori & kotaro haikyuu reference ftw
The day ends. You come to find your two new bbs sleeping on a sleeping hitoshi a miracle ikr
A photo shoot? Hell yes! Dadzawa needs to see this.
You take the pic and send a quick text along with it to Aizawa. Your future f-in-l. 'Guess how toshi proposed?'
You get a quick response "I'm a grandpa now? I get them twi-three times a month."
Your snort woke your fiance
Him seeing your phone. "Did you take a picture of me? Creep."
"No." You say slyly. "I took a picture of my boys." You show him. As you set it as your wall paper.
"Send it to me please." You do, what you don't expect is a pic in return from him
It was of you in bed the s'morning. With your new kittens, kotaro and satori, before you even knew they were there. also his wallpaper
And damn if you don't smile "who's the creep?"
"What's this text from my dad about 'custody of his grandchildren'?"
You laugh and explain
Yes you had your cats in the wedding. They started all this yk.
They were ring barers. Complete w/little tuxes shinso insisted
Lmao it was like the hunger games when deciding who was going to take care of the cats when on your honeymoon.
Shota won obviously
"They are staying w/their grandfathers and that is final." *scary hair whoosh*
Dabi:
Tumblr media
When you joined the LoV, you confused dabi.
You were kind and caring to everyone. Wtf?
Even when they didn't deserve it
Why are you with the villians? Are you stupid?
That is until he saw the rage and hurt in your eyes the first time you fought together.
It reminded him of himself
Of how he got where he was
Slowly you had unconsciously worked your way into his heart
You caring for his wounds(new and old), your soft smiles and warm eyes. You never looked at him with disgust, fear or malice.
You were the first to ever do so in a long long time. Since his childhood.
He never wanted to fall in love but here was fate pushing you two together.
You fell just as slowly. You thought you were never really worthy of love. But it didn't stop you from giving it to those around you. Loophole you thought.
But you would find dabi doing little things. Things that made you feel something you shouldn't. Things you didn't think you deserved.
Throwing a blanket over you if you fell asleep on the couch.
Getting your favorite snacks
During fights he would casually move between you and your enemies. Protecting you.
Well shit here you both were. Madly in love, but still apprehensive.
But when he asked you to call him by another name and you did?
That's when dabi kissed you for the first time. It shocked you both tbh
It wasn't rough like you had imagined. But soft and sweet. Nothing like the mask he wears for everyone.
After about 8 months of dating dabi realized he wanted to be yours forever. And you his.
So fuck proposing. He did a surprise wedding. He didn't want to give you chance to change your mind. because insecure bb🥺
He got everything ready.
Now he just needed you
Their was a beautiful knee length white lace dress laying on your bed with a note "meet me here. Kurogiri will warp you.-t"
Running your fingers over the dress, you smiled. You always did like surprises from him.
You got yourself ready for your date with the love of your life and went to find kurogiri.
He met you with a blindfold that matched dabi's eyes
"He requested you wear this."
You nodded and let him tie it on
Next you thing know you feel dabi's warm hand in yours.
"You ready, doll?" You can hear the smirk in his voice.
"Until the end, babe."
He slips off the blindfold
You're in a forest with twinkle lights strewn about and a blue flamed candle walkway to a beautiful arch covered in your favorite flowers. Your closest leauge friends are here too.
"Will you let me stand by your side, until the end?"
You gently cup his cheeks in your hands, brushing your lips against his. Whispering for no one else to hear
"Yes, toya. For you, even longer."
He doesn't even need to smirk. You can see the overwhelming happiness in his eyes.
When you say your I do's surprisingly enough all your friends have happiness written on their face too. Even shiggy
The next day he gets a new piercing on his ring finger and you a small blue flame tattoo on yours.
Kirishima:
Tumblr media
You've had eijirou kirishimas heart since your first year of UA together
One day he was feeling insecure about his quirk and you showed up changing the way he saw himself.
"Kirishima, you're the unbreakable Red Riot. It's not about how flashy a heros quirk is, it's about their resolve. Your tenacity to protect and save people..." you smile, "if that isn't the making to be a great hero I don't know what is."
And tbh he had yours since that 1st yr too. You always admired his courage & his dedication to his friends even if they didn't want it cough bakugo
For two years you both danced around your feelings for eachother. Flirting but never taking the next step.
That is until bakugo not mina, & yes shes jealous she wasn't the one that set you 2 up got fed up one night of your guys flirting.
And I quote "Oi! Would you two go on a fucking date already. I'm tired of listening to shitty hair pine after you." he did out of love for his bestie
It was the only time you've genuinely seen kirishima want to kill bakugo
Shyly you answered, "I'd like that."
Bb turned his head around so fast he almost got whiplash.
You've been together 5yrs now and it was your birthday. Kirishima wanted to make it extra special.
A picnic in your favorite park, he was lucky your bd was at the same time as the cherry blossoms blooming. You loved them.
Setting up the picnic kirishima reminisced.
It was your favorite park because that's where your first date was. It was unusually hot. He got you both popsicles.
It was the first time he had seen you eat one. *crunch crunch*
boy was staring, shook
You blushing "I know, people say it's weird to eat popsicles like that."
"I dont think so." He smiled as he crunched his own. Must be fate.
Now here you two were cuddled laying down on a blanket, your head placed on his chest and his hand around your waist. Finished with lunch
"Thanks for the birthday lunch, babe. I loved it." You sighed contentedly.
What you didn't notice is that he was fiddling with a little red box. "Its not quite over yet. I have one more thing." He sat you both up and looked deeply into your eyes with so much love. " Y/n you-"
Just then a downpour of rain happened.
Kirishima scrambled to pick up the picnic supplies. His hair beginning to fall from its signature style
He turned to grab your hand to pull you under cover. So manly
You were a few feet away. Your eyes closed and head tilted back. A warm smile on your face. Letting the rain wash over you.
He'd never seen anything so beautiful
Picnic supplies forgotten. He knelt in front of you on one knee. He grabbed your hand with one of his.
You opened your eyes and looked down at your eiji. Your rock, your home.
"Y/n, you give me the strength to be unbreakable. Would you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?" He opened the little red box.
Your heart beating as wildly as his
Inside was the most beautiful ring. It held your favorite gemstone. Long ago in hs you and mina were doing girl talk while the guys played video games. You'd told her diamond engagement rings were lame and what you preferred.
He remembered? That was before you were even dating...
You smiled through happy tears "yes eijirou, yes I'll marry you."
"There's an inscription." He said softly.
You looked closer at the ring, even after 7 years of loving him he still found ways to make your heart flutter
'forever unbreakable'
"Oh, Ei, it's perfect."
He slipped it on you and pulled you into a kiss. "Let's get you out of this rain. Wouldn't want you to get sick." we stan a gentlemanly king
"Just a little longer, I hear rain is good luck for this type of thing." You wave your newly ring adorned hand.
"Anything for you." He whispered before kissing you again.
You've never loved the rain more
The wedding day came
You stood before the love of your life and he his
You slide his wedding band on
Engraved inside
'my rock, my home'
"Now the bride." said the person marring you.
"Here you go shitty hair." Said the best man, handing kirishima the ring.
Did you think bakugo wouldnt want to be best man? Haha he's the one that got you two together your welcome or whatever
Kirishima tenderly slipped the ring on your finger.
Of course it decided to pour just then
Everyone ran for cover but you two
Bakugo, "tch, those idiots are going to be sick for their honeymoon." he cares ok
Mina sighing, "so romantic."
You tilted your head to the sky laughing, "babe, the universe is wishing us good luck."
He gently grabbed your chin, making you look at him. "guess we were meant to be." He whispered as he pulled you in for a long passionate kiss in the rain, him still making your heart stutter.

Choked In Confusion
Tw: Self Harm Mention, Heavy Angst, Self Loathing. Hurt/Comfort
This was the first-ever sander sides fanfic I ever wrote.
Roman was a mess, he had bruises all over his arm from hitting himself and red eyes showing that he'd been crying for a while. The creative side sat on his desk, he knew he had to take off his mask and write his feelings down. Patton had broken his heart he didn't know what the moral side wanted from him anymore. Logan always hid his feelings too. So he decided to pull off his mask in a more creative way. A monologue, he knew that would suit him a least he thought it would.
Roman conjured his feather pen and began writing his emotions. He wrote like he was running out of time. All the emotions came, he knew the others would scold him for feeling that way but he didn't care anymore there was no point in being what people wanted him to be. Anger, Regret, Sadness, Confusion and Insecure.  A knock broke him from reality, he knew it was Patton, probably wanting to scold him for laughing at Janus's name. He still kept his mask off as he knew it was time to give Patton and the others the wake-up call they needed. The King was everything they loved but then they split him and tried to create a creativity without flaws.
"Hey Kiddo, it's me, Patton can I come in?"
"Fine but not for long?!"
"Kiddo we-"
"I'm fine I have ways of getting my emotions, I honestly can't your first instinct is to come crawling back to me when you and I ignored every word Logan had to say."
"What doe-"
"He obviously feels unwanted and not listened to. Especially since he made his facts optionally. I mean I stood there and let you skip him. Me I'm probably the one out of all of us who drove him to hide and lie about his feelings."
"That's not we-"
"Right, you totally do, ever since the others started to desire being listened to you shut me and Logan out."
"That's not tru-"
"It is Thomas has the right to listen to all of us and not shun us. Go see Logan, please. Janus can apologize-"
"Roman you shouldn't have made fun of his name."
"I know! I'm an idiot I hate myself and screw up, when I make a mistake it's spat in my face but when you guys act rude nobody calls you out on your behaviour."
"Roman, kiddo aren't you over-"
"Overreacting! Patton, I have the write to express how I really feel and not have it brushed off, same for Logan."
"Alright, I'll go see Logan. I'll leave these cookies for you here but please understand we do love-"
Roman felt bad for rudely slamming the door in Patton's face but he didn't deserve comfort he just wanted to scream till he couldn't speak and then put on his crumbling mask as if everything was ok again. He thought by sending Patton to Logan he'd be doing something right for once. Roman nibbled one of the cookies and got back to writing his monologue.
After a few more minutes of writing down his feelings, Roman cleared his throat. This certainly was going to be a heartbreaking performance, deep down however he just wished someone would watch him and acknowledge his mental health struggles.
Lost I feel lost, from the day I was born I have felt nothing but lost. I feel like a statue that has to be perfect otherwise they're just filthy and an old rusting relic never meant to be touched. I am strangled by vines of expectations. Apparently, I was created to be flawless but im more than just a figment, im- actually I don't think I really know who I am anymore at all.
Anger!
My voice feels like a cold weapon wanting to lash out when everything feels too much and when everything gets other whelming. I fire away but I can't stop myself, I am a flame of passion desperate to not die out. Life feels like thunder I want to strike and harm someone to cope but it's wrong. Justice, I get karma but the others never get it whenever they insult people and act mean.
Regret!
I'm fighting the urge to cut my throat and slice it till I can no longer speak. I feel so vulnerable myself so of course, I'm stupid enough to mock someone else in a vulnerable moment. A name defines who are you and what you stand for. I feel like I should be nameless. I hate myself so illogically I project my feelings out to someone else via name-calling. Me, I try to get better but I only seem to get worse. If I could turn back time I would stay silent and bluntly accept the truth that the world isn't black and white. My only wish is to take all those cruel worse and project them onto myself.
Sadness and Betrayal!
I feel helpless like I should have never ever been creative. Am I really that pathetic that the storybook ended sadly? Am I a hero! No, I'm nobody's hero everyone I've ever cared about have been pushed away by stupid egotistical self. My darling brother isn't evil he's better than me! He deserves my seat at the table. Janus is correct I'm a piece of trash that can be replaced it's not like there's two creativity's after all. Nobody has ever been on my side.
Confusion!
When was the last time I had an idea that was actually helpful? Even Thomas's fans think I'm useless and annoying. Back in the courtroom, I was scolded by Virgil and Patton for siding with the bad guy, the snake. I wanted to understand De-Janus especially since the others pointed out that I never treated Virgil with kindness. But no I'm wrong for giving Janus a chance, have I ever been right? Patton always gets what he wants and giving up that call back felt like I was having my petals picked off.  Then he decides to do a one-eighty and tells me I'm wrong for being the selfless Prince. Also, im supposed to trust the snake after being told he manipulated me and used me to get what I wanted. I was wrong to label the others dark. The truth im the bad guy, not the one who's being used as a puppet. Grey, I've never liked the colour but it appears I must get use to it.
Insecure!
I am the fanciful side, the ego, the passion, the good creativity. They we're wrong I'm a mirror cracked. I never ever should have been crowned the Prince. I'm not royalty I'm an earthquake bringing destruction everywhere I go.
Janus was right I should have been crowned the Duke! I'm rude, bratty and pathetic. My fist reels, desperate to punch every single mirror I come across. I am broken! Who am I?
I'm an idiot choking on the confusion I feel.
A loud applause made Roman flinch, his brother was sitting on his bed, full of tears. He never expected his brother to be here especially since Remus had been told he's just like his twin. Warm arms wrap around him pulling him into a tight hug. Roman did not expect this he really thought his brother hated him.
"Oh, Ro-Ro, fate time hasn't treated you kindly. Part of me wishes I didn't knock you out."
"You did right you gave Logan his time to shine."
"Ro, Janus was wrong and even if have to skin all of his scales off to make sure he apologizes to you. I'll do whatever it takes."
"Thanks, bro but that won't help, I honestly feel bad for you, now you're stuck with Orange and we know he isn't a nice side to hang out with."
"I don't care at least I'm not stuck with a bunch of losers who ignore every single time you try to say you need help. Janus is a jerk, heck they're all selfish jerks."
"Remus I know I was wrong for labelling you guys the dark sides and us the light sides. We're all flawed but it's just too hard to accept."
"You know what you need?"
"What?"
"I think you need a job where you're allowed to be yourself and not strangely by people's expectations.
Ever since they've wanted us to be black and white but we're not."
"Wait bro are you proposing that I take your place?!"
"Yes I'm proposing I take your job and you take mine. Join me I'm not gonna let them bruise my self-esteem and confidence as they have done yours. Join me, let's work together and show these sides that we will no longer be controlled by their words. So are you with me or are you gonna sit here and stay silent. All I know is that you shouldn't go speechless."
"Nice Disney reference and I accept Its about time I crumble my mask! Thank you, bro I'm glad someone loves me."
"You've always been my hero."
The twins held hands and a bright flash accrued. It was about time the brothers worked together and stick together. Nobody was ever gonna separate them again.

fire has no shadow, but you have me
Leo is not hiding this personal moment with a mask of light-hearted comments or jokes. So Nico won't shy away from it, either.
"I'm glad you want to come back." He summons courage harder than it takes him to summon an army of skeletons, and he leans his head on Leo's shoulder.
They remain like that for a while, Leo's hand covering his and Nico's head resting on Leo, and Nico had never felt so safe outside of camp and he wonders if it can last.
It starts with a blinding flash of light. And at this point, Nico has seen enough of those to know that it can't be anything good.
And he couldn't be less prepared for it. He was just lying on the grass under the sun, getting more vitamin D on doctor's orders.
And of course, his doctor is right there next to him. Will insists Nico needs more sun, and Nico begrudgingly agrees because at least his skin color is returning to normal and he sleeps better at night. Not well, but better.
He feels warm and drowsy while Will's voice fills the silence by talking about music and bands. Nico hasn't really had time to listen to music in the last… decade. But he appreciates Will's suggestions, however disconcerting they may be.
And then he feels it. The sun's getting hotter, which doesn't make sense since it was supposed to be going down soon, and when he opens his eyes, it's there.
His senses heighten, every nerve suddenly into overdrive, and Will is already on his feet, hauling him up and dragging him away.
But it's too late, Nico thinks. It's coming way too fast.
He still runs, but not for long before the crash is heard. It's not as big as he imagined. It's not Armageddon, it's not the end of the world, but it is something.
Nico spins around, making Will stumble, but he's glad he did because he immediately recognizes something that makes his heart thud painfully.
A bronze wing.
He breaks free from Will's grip and runs back towards the mess of fire that's still burning in a big pile. Will yells out his name but then he and some others are right behind him, slow realization dawning on all the campers.
Even among the flames and smoke, Nico can see the broken-down body of Festus the dragon.
"Where's Leo?" Will asks and Nico was thinking the same thing but with each passing second his heart sinks more and more. Leo's fireproof, his mind supplies, and still the fear that he might have burnt to a crisp seems far more real.
Nico looks around wildly. "Can't anyone summon water?! Where's fucking Percy Jackson when you need him?!"
Everyone seems to click into motion, moving around to help. Nico focuses back on the fire. Perhaps he can make a hole on the earth below and pull Leo out?
He tries to feel the presence and a more sinister thought enters his mind. Maybe he was never alive. Maybe Festus just brought Leo's body here.
The fire is receding a bit, but it's still hard to see beyond the flames and reflective bronze. A moment later, three different people shout to make room. From the right, Chris Rodríguez and a bunch of dryads are bringing in buckets of water from the lake. From the left, Leo's siblings from the Hephaestus cabin are running with Harley at the front, all dressed up in a full metal welding suit that the others are still trying to attach to him.
And then, from very far away there's Paolo Montes waving a hose.
Harley gets there first, and he would have thrown himself on the fire if Nyssa Barrera hadn't stopped him.
"Wait! The suit is not sealed yet!"
And then it came. Nico gasps and almost stumbles backwards with the force of it and everyone looks at him, alarmed.
But Nico's eyes are fixed on the blazing heat.
The metal rumbles and pieces fall to the floor, and from the very center of Festus' belly, Leo Valdez's head pops up, his hair wild and moving along with the flames.
He looks around at the dozens of shocked faces and finally settles for a toothy grin.
"Hello. Bit hot today, no?"
This time Will had to stop Nico from jumping into the fire and slapping Leo in the face.
.
Nico had been spending some of his time hanging out in the infirmary since Will was there a lot, teaching healing practices to other campers because, in his words 'With the number of dangerous situations demigods get into, the Apollo cabin can't be the only ones who know basic first aid.'
And now he was there a lot because he was in charge of organising the queue to punch Leo and Leo was there getting patched up.
He had never been very close to Leo. At least not the way he was close to Hazel or even Percy at some point. But over their time aboard the Argo II, they had at least shared some kind of kinship a few times, especially when Nico realized how much of a seventh wheel Leo had been feeling, and how similar that was to how Nico himself felt in that ship. An eight wheel, to be precise.
And by Gods, did Nico want to hate him. He was insufferably obnoxious, always cracking stupid jokes, and with no shame whatsoever. Nico's worst nightmare.
Until Nico saw through all that for what it really was; Leo's way of keeping people at bay. Diametrically opposed to Nico's way, but a way nonetheless.
Plus, a few times Nico had walked in on Leo sleeping curled up next to the engine and it was hard to hate him after that.
"What happened to Calypso?" Nico asks one morning after the first shift of punchers. Leo had just finished explaining everything he went through, the physician's cure, the trip to Ogygia, rescuing the forgotten sorceress.
His face reddens somewhat. "I dropped her off inland in Europe. I think it was Croatia. She um… She wanted to see the world."
Nico doesn't want to push it if Leo's reluctant to discuss it but he had imagined that after all of that he and Calypso would be together.
Leo shrugs and then winces as his left shoulder is still injured from the fall. His skin was thankfully all untouched thanks to his abilities but his clothes all turned to ashes. That was the most awkward part of the rescue. "I get it. She was tied to that island for thousands of years, I can't blame her for wanting to be free and not tied to something or someone else now." He sounds sad, but also braver than Nico had ever seen him. "I promised to rescue her and I'm glad I did."
Nico nodded. He raised his hand, planning to pat Leo's shoulder but regretting it at the last second and landing awkwardly on the pillow next to him. "That's the demigod life."
Leo smiles one of his huge smiles and nudges Nico's hand with his shoulder. "That, and catapulting annoying augurs up in the sky. Tell me again how you launched Octavian up to meet me."
Nico rolls his eyes. "I didn't launch him."
.
Since communication was still down on all fronts, Leo couldn't let anyone at Camp Jupiter know that he hadn't actually died, so he decided to just make the journey.
Him and a few other campers sat at a table trying to figure out the best method to get him there.
"Festus would take at least a month to rebuild again," Leo sighs, genuinely depressed about the topic. "I can't let the others wait that long for Admiral Valdez's resurrection."
Everyone groans. Leo had been bragging for days about how he was basically the modern version of Jesus of Nazareth.
"What about a jetpack? My design is nearly ready!" Harley exclaims excitedly.
Leo ruffles Harley's hair. "Oh Harley, I'd rather let Zeus zoom me halfway across the globe again. I saw your designs and I think fuel tanks like those would send me on my way to an explosion even I couldn't survive."
"You could take a bus?" Kayla says. "Cheaper than an airplane."
"I will take you."
It almost takes Nico a second to realize the words came out of his mouth, especially when they all look at him like that.
"Nico, are you sure that's a good idea?" Will asks, his golden eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"I shadow-travelled from Europe with a ten-foot statue and two others. I think I can handle Leo from here to California."
"I feel like that was a jab at my stature," Leo says into the silence.
Nico smirks.
.
The Hephaestus cabin organized a congratulations-for-not-being-dead/going-away campfire for Leo. Nico usually didn't attend campfires, but Will had dragged him to a couple and this one seemed to be more up his alley, with less corny songs and more people making fun of Leo.
Plus, Pollux had appeared with a few bottles of homemade wine and the results were entertaining.
Will was, no surprise, a very touchy drunk, which made Nico uncomfortable but not as much as he would have thought. He lets Will rest his head on his shoulder when he says that the world is spinning.
Leo chugs more wine and tells another joke and people laugh harder even though it makes no sense, and that's when Sherman Yang decides they've all had too much.
"Okay, let's pack it up, people. Leo has a long day tomorrow and we all have target practice."
Some groan, a few giggle, most don't react and just let themselves be dragged away after patting Leo on the back and wishing him luck.
No one tells Leo to leave, perhaps because after helping defeat Gaia, coming back from the dead, rescuing an unrescuable ancient sorceress and then surviving yet another explosion, no one felt like they had much authority over him.
Will, held by Kayla on one side, turns around to look at Nico. "Are you coming?"
Nico looks over at Leo, who chooses that moment to fall backwards from his log. "I think I'll stay and make sure he doesn't die."
Will smiles crookedly. "Aw, you're taking care of someone. I've taught you well."
"Shut up."
Leo manages to sit up and realizes he and Nico are alone, the fire slowly dying between them. "Are you cold? I can make more fire."
He opens his palms towards the flames but Nico rushes over and stops him. "No no. Don't drink and summon fire. Didn't you see the safety video on your first day here? Dionysus had a whole section about wine safety."
Leo snorts a laugh. "No. When I arrived everything was very rushed. I never met Mr. D"
Nico nods. Leo must have heard that name from Percy. Nico wonders if Percy got the letter they sent telling him that Leo was alive. It was Will's idea to use regular mortal mail, but even being in the same estate as Percy wouldn't guarantee that he'll receive the letter. Strange things happened to demigods' correspondence in the postal service.
"You know, this is the first time I drink wine." Leo waves his plastic cup, stained burgundy.
"Really?" Nico asks. "Not even sips as a kid?"
Leo shakes his head and his curls move with it. "Mexican moms don't really believe in that."
Nico had been drinking wine since he was very young. "I always used to have dinner with my family."
"Maybe that's why you're not drunk."
"Or maybe because I'm not eighty pounds and had ten glasses"
"Hey!" Leo protests and then he is silent as he sizes Nico up with a look that makes Nico wish he could blend in with the shadows. "How are you already taller than me? It's not fair."
That makes Nico smile. "Get used to it, Valdez."
They stay in silence for a while longer, which must be a record coming from Leo. He pulls out a small device from his pocket and starts to tinker with it, not even looking at it. He seems thoughtful, as though he's trying to figure out a different device than the one in his hands.
"I heard something from Drew yesterday," Leo says, a little too quiet to be the start of a joke. Nico's heart starts racing. He knew people would talk, and he knew Leo and all his friends would find out eventually, but he never thought Leo would want to talk to him about it.
He presents Nico with his closed fist as if he wanted Nico to bump it and Nico can only frown.
"This is for telling Percy he isn't your type. What a boss move."
It takes a second, but Nico throws his head back and laughs. The first time he's properly laughed in a long time, but it just takes him completely by surprise that this is what Leo has to say on the subject.
He bumps Leo's fist as his laughter dies down and he shakes his head in disbelief.
Leo can't seem to stop smiling, but in this drunk, lazy way that makes him seem a bit more down to earth.
This isn't a mask, Nico thinks.
Leo sways and his shoulder grazes Nico's. "If it makes you feel any better, I get it. Like, who hasn't thought Percy's hot? Like, objectively, you know? They're tall and conventionally attractive and stupidly heroic-"
"They?" Nico asks, not really wanting to interrupt Leo's tirade but confused by his wording.
"Percy and Jason. Everyone has crushes on them, right? And you kind of want to hate them because like, shit man, you look like that and you fly, and you're ridiculously friendly and like noble and stuff? Just stop it. You know? But you can't hate them because they're really nice to you and they don't deserve it. But it's nothing to be ashamed of, you know?"
Nico blinks a few times, Leo's confession of basically having a crush on Jason in particular, hitting him like an electrical shock that left him short-circuited. If Leo was sober he probably wouldn't have said anything, so Nico wonders if he should feel bad for letting Leo say something so personal in this state of vulnerability.
But he doesn't. Because it's the first time someone tells him they understand him and actually give reasons and examples why, not just an empty attempt at empathy. He hopes Leo doesn't regret telling him this.
"They are so stupidly noble. I hate that," Nico says.
Leo stands up on wobbly legs. "Oh look at me I'm the son of a famous, powerful God and I can control the elements and I have light-colored eyes and a dreamy smile. Who am I?"
Nico has to laugh again because Leo is pulling a full-on performance pretending to fly like Jason or raise the sea like Percy and it makes Nico feel lighter than he has in probably years. He can laugh about it now. He can let it go.
Leo stumbles around the fire and even though he'd be fine if he falls in, it still doesn't seem right to let him, so Nico grabs his arm and pulls him away from the danger zone as they both keep laughing.
They sit back down and their knees knock together and Nico doesn't mind.
"Some of that could also describe you," Leo says breathlessly. "Son of a major God. Powerful."
Nico nudges Leo with his arm in acknowledgement. "And you. You can control the elements." He nods towards the fire.
Leo seems relaxed in a way he hadn't seemed to be since he came back.
They remain like that for a while longer, watching the flames get smaller and sitting in comfortable silence. Nico's favorite kind of silence.
"We should probably get some sleep." Nico hates to be the one to say it, but shadow-travelling really is easier when he's rested.
Damn Will. He got inside Nico's head.
Leo lets Nico help him up and then Nico does something that he only does when someone is injured in battle; he wraps one arm around Leo's waist and helps him walk. Leo throws his arm over Nico's shoulders.
As they walk away from the campfire, Leo sighs happily. "Have you ever noticed that fire doesn't have a shadow?"
.
Nico was right when he thought that travelling with Leo would be less tiring than the last shadow trip he had done.
That didn't mean it was easier.
"Y'all should've told me we'd be coming here." Leo digs into his plate of ribs, sauce all over his face. "I'd've made some reservations."
Nico sends him a death glare. He's good at those.
Leo had decided to adopt a heavy southern accent ever since they landed in Oklahoma instead of Kansas like Nico had been planning. Nico's ears were going to bleed from over-stimulation.
The food was good, though.
Leo inhales deeply and sighs contentedly. "We're so close to Texas, I can feel it."
"We're always close to Texas. That state is inescapable. I think its gravity drew us off course."
Leo pulls out two wet hand towels from his magic pouch- as Nico has started to call it much to Leo's annoyance- and then he warms them up by heating his hands. He has a much more sophisticated control on his fire abilities than Nico remembered.
Leo hands one to Nico while he himself wipes basically his entire face and arms. "Well, we're here now so let's find a spot to sleep tonight. I hope you like camping, Neeks!"
Nico frowns. "You should know I don't. Also, stop it with the Neeks."
Leo smiles. "You have barbecue on your nose."
Nico groans and wipes it off.
.
They end up finding a not-so-terrible spot to spend the night, but the heat in this Hades-forsaken place was so insufferable that they decided not to use sleeping bags and instead hang hammocks, of which Leo procured two from his magic pouch.
"Why in the world do you have hammocks on hand?" Nico asks as he unsuccessfully attempts to tie his to a tree.
"Hammocks are an incredible feat of engineering. You need fabric and weaving that are strong enough to hold you but not so tough that it's hard to sleep. It minimises your travelling load while maximising sleeping space, and it works on all surfaces because it precisely keeps you away from surfaces." Leo comes over and ties Nico's hammock for him. "It also keeps you away from snakes."
Nico blinks at him. "You have a lot of feelings about hammocks."
"They are perfect and need to be more appreciated."
"I've never actually slept in one."
Leo's eyes seem to light up with fire. "Oh I can't believe you're a hammock virgin!"
"Please don't call it that."
"This is going to be great. Shed all your preconceived notions right now and prepare for the best sleeping experience of your life."
Nico would hardly call swinging in the air the best sleeping experience of his life, but considering the things he's been through, it also could be far, far worse.
Leo is too delighted with the swinging and even pushes off against the tree with his foot to go even faster, his hands busy with a mechanical box he's been tinkering with since West Virginia. The movement is making Nico slightly dizzy so he lies as still as possible until the soft swaying actually feels nice, and it seems to be lulling him to sleep faster than anticipated.
He's almost gone when Leo speaks into the silence.
"Nico?"
"Mm?" He opens his eyes and turns to see Leo still swinging madly, almost nervously, under the orange light of the lantern he hung on a branch above. Thank the Gods they're on different trees or the movement would rock Nico's hammock as well. He also decided to remove his t-shirt, which is fine by Nico because then all the mosquitoes would get Leo instead of him.
"You're fifteen, right?" Leo asks.
"Last I checked."
Another pause. "How did you, um… how did you know?"
It takes Nico's sleepy brain a bit to process the question but it still doesn't make much sense. "How did I know what?"
Leo keeps his eyes on his box. "You know… how did you know you… liked boys?"
Suddenly Nico is as alert as the day Leo came crashing down above them.
Usually, Nico would say something snarky and then refuse to discuss the matter entirely, possibly adding about a day's worth of brooding and death glares.
But this question seemed to be a lot less about prying into Nico's business and a lot more about something else.
Nico looked away from Leo nonetheless and kept his eyes on the dark canopy above. "It's kind of hard to ignore when you, you know… when you like someone and that someone is, well, a boy."
Leo's swinging sounds less intense. "Sure. I suppose when it's the only kind of attraction that happens to you, you can't really miss it, can you?"
"Nope," Nico confirms. He could see where Leo's mind was at. "But I guess that if someone was attracted to a lot of different people… it'd be harder to recognize."
"I guess so."
Nico thinks of all the things he wished someone had said to him when he was driving himself mad with questions and confusion, and out of everything, the thing that would have meant the most was very simple.
"And it'd be okay. It'd be more than okay, actually, it'd be great."
Nico can't see it, but he can hear the soft exhale that Leo does when he smiles. The rustling and thudding of his magic pouch follow and then the light is turned off.
"Thank you, Neeks."
"I'm going to murder you."
.
This was the first time in Nico's life that he has managed to leave a camp for more than five minutes without encountering a single being that wanted to kill him. He had been prepared for attacks from the get-go, especially since Leo literally couldn't go two breaths without doing something demigod-like such as warming up their chilaquiles with his bare hands or making weird artefacts appear as if out of thin air.
But this had been the most peaceful trip of his life and it almost felt akin to a vacation. Camping, taking dips in rivers and lakes, eating something different every day (Leo even agreed to go to McDonald's once) and keeping the worrying to a minimum.
It was even nice to be around Leo most of the time. Ever since the other night, he seemed to be making fewer jokes and nervous tinkering than usual. He still did it, because it's part of him, but he seemed more relaxed about it. It wasn't a necessity but a choice.
"What are you going to do once we arrive?" Nico asks one afternoon as they sit on top of a hill and take in the view. They're most likely just a jump away from getting to their destination, and in all honesty, Nico's rested enough that he could manage it that same day.
But he decided to drag this out a bit longer. They stopped just outside of San Francisco at some unknown mountains with enough trees to make it the perfect spot to tie hammocks and, damn it, Nico loves them by now, and he just wants another opportunity to use them while he's still with company. His return trip will be a lot lonelier.
Leo shrugs. "I don't know what Pipes and Jason might be up to. Jason had his plan to make shrines for all the Gods, so I might help him with that. But honestly, I wish they'd come back to Camp Half-Blood."
Nico raises his eyebrows. "Really?"
"Sure. It's the camp me and Piper were meant to be in, all my siblings are there, plus there's the bunker and Festus… I don't want to give it all up."
Nico feels a spark of hope in his chest. Perhaps he won't have to return alone. It's still bittersweet, though, because once Leo rejoins Piper and Jason, things will be different. Piper and Jason are very nice and all, and Nico gets along very well with Jason in particular, but he has a feeling Leo won't be the same with them around.
"And you're there, also," Leo adds.
Nico feels some heat rise to his cheeks and he tries to push it down.
Thankfully, Leo doesn't press it. "What about you? How do you decide which Camp to be in? You were in Camp Jupiter for a while, you have Hazel there, but you're originally Half-Blood and you have Will over there…"
"Will?" Nico asks, surprised that Leo would put him on the same level of importance to Nico as Hazel.
"Well, yes. I assumed you two-"
"Oh, no." Nico must be properly blushing now. "I mean, I don't know. But we're not. He's very nice and I'm glad to have a close friend there but…"
"Well okay, so you'll have two close friends there, then." Leo puts his hand over Nico's and it's the first time they're so purposefully touching like that.
Leo is not hiding this personal moment with a mask of light-hearted comments or jokes. So Nico won't shy away from it, either.
"I'm glad you want to come back." He summons courage harder than it takes him to summon an army of skeletons, and he leans his head on Leo's shoulder.
They remain like that for a while, Leo's hand covering his and Nico's head resting on Leo, and Nico had never felt so safe outside of camp and he wonders if it can last.
.
It turns out it can last. They manage to make it to Camp Jupiter without a single unpleasant encounter. And just when Nico thought they may break Percy's rule about feeling safe, they cross the gates and they are actually safe. Hazel sees them first. She's in full uniform and looking tiny but powerful as always, and her eyes go wide and shiny like dark gemstones.
She drops everything, her spatha, shield, and a book she'd been carrying and she sprints at them. She crushes Leo in a hug and starts weeping immediately.
"You! How? I was- Jason and Piper- ugh!" Each word is punctuated by a sob and a slap on Leo's chest.
Then there's Frank, who is so surprised that he turns into a ferret by mistake but then seizes the opportunity to climb onto Leo's head and claw at his hair with tiny, shrill yelps.
"I missed you too, buddy," Leo says, only grimacing slightly.
When he's back in human form, the bear hug is so engulfing that Leo almost disappears from sight.
Apparently, Piper and Jason are around somewhere but Hazel and Frank are too busy with their new duties that they can't keep track of them. Hazel summons Arion and writes a note, tying it around his neck.
"If you find Piper or Jason, get them here as soon as possible."
And off he goes.
Hazel spends a while telling Leo how much they looked for him the days after the battle back in Camp-Half Blood, which Nico had already done, but not in so much detail. Especially about the extent to which Jason and Piper in particular had driven themselves mad trying to find him, to the point where after weeks of futile search, Percy and Annabeth had to drag them back to camp and eventually convince them to come to California and get their minds off it.
Of course Nico wanted Leo to know they didn't give up on him, that he was missed, but he didn't want him to feel as guilty as he looks right now.
Other people also greeted them, including Reyna who Nico was glad to see. She was looking healthier than before.
Just as they were about to go to the Fifth Cohort to see if anyone knew about Jason or Piper, a loud zoom fills Nico's ears and a blurry second later, Leo is on the ground, tackled by Piper.
Arion neighs and stomps his front legs down before taking off again.
It takes about two minutes of Piper holding onto Leo and crying "I hate you!" before they can stand up. Leo's eyes and face are red too and he can't stop sniffling.
"Explain. Now," Piper orders him, wiping tears off her face.
"I thought we'd wait for Jason," Leo tells her.
Piper sighs. "He's been so moody lately I can't even tell you when he'd be coming back. He's been hard to read."
"Jason? Moody? Are you sure you're not talking about yourself?"
Piper hits Leo.
And then, it happens again. This time is a whooshing sound that gets progressively louder and Nico barely has time to catch a glance of Jason flying at them at full speed before Leo is lifted off his feet and carried away.
Nico typically refrains from showing any emotion other than annoyance in front of others, but even he can't keep a straight face upon seeing Jason and Leo embracing up in the air, clearly crying and laughing at the same time as Jason slowly lowers them to the ground.
Everyone is at least tearing up by the time they make their way towards them, but Nico is okay with it. He's happy for Leo and he doesn't care who sees. Hazel grabs Nico's hand and he squeezes it.
"So," Leo says with a rough voice. "Ready to hear the Tales of Tio Leo?"
.
Nico hadn't realized how much he missed this camp, especially Hazel. He wishes he could be with her year-round or at least visit more often. There should be a faster way to get from one camp to the other.
Eventually, though, the time to return was drawing nearer and it was hard to acknowledge it. Nico still didn't know if Leo was coming back or not and he didn't want to ruin his reunion. He was still so happy to be around Piper and Jason.
Nico sits outside at a table after dinner. They all managed to squeeze in a dinner together before their respective duties took them in different directions. Of course, the only ones who didn't have anything to attend to were Nico and Leo, so it isn't a surprise when Leo returns to the table after saying goodbye to the others.
Leo plays with the candles there, lighting them on and then putting them out over and over. "I was wondering…" he begins and for some reason Nico's heart speeds up.
"Yeah?"
He lights the candles again. "Is Nico short for Nicholas? And if it is, can I call you Saint Nicholas?"
Nico kicks him under the table.
"Ow!"
"Is Leo short for Leonardo? And if so, can I call you Da Vinci?" Nico asks, trying to sound as stupid as Leo had.
"Definitely!" Leo answers, a big smile while still rubbing his leg. "Da Vinci works, though I think I look more like a Di Caprio."
"Who?"
"Nevermind."
Leo is still smiling even after a few seconds. "Da Vinci and Di Angelo. We should form a band."
"Over my dead body," Nico says, but he has to really bite back a smile.
Silence ensues and Nico thinks this would be the right moment to tell Leo that he plans to return the next day. He opens his mouth to speak but as it often happens with speaking, Leo beats him to it.
"So when do we leave, Hermano Hamaca?"
Nico is so confused by that last bit that he doesn't even process the first. "What?"
"Hammock Bro," Leo translates.
"Oh." Leo wants to go back with him? "I thought you'd want to stay with them a bit longer."
He shrugs. "Well, you're the shadow-travelling boss, but if it was up to me I could leave tomorrow. Piper and Jason are working on the shrines and they'll be at Camp Half-Blood soon. I can help from there. I'll miss Hazel and the big guy, but I'll see them again. Plus, it'd be nice to see Percy and Annabeth too, if they got the letter."
Nico nods. "Sure. We can leave tomorrow." He doesn't let it show how happy he is not to be travelling alone, but he still hopes Leo can see it a little bit.
"Hey," Leo puts out a candle with his right hand and lights up another with his left. "Thank you for bringing me here. I know it's a long road trip for something that could have been a phone call in normal circumstances. But even if I could have contacted them somehow, I think I needed to come. See them for myself. So, thank you."
Nico does smile then. "You're welcome. I know I would have liked to see you in person if you hadn't almost killed me on impact when you arrived."
"It's settled, then. We leave tomorrow. Maybe we can stop in Houston this time? I'll show you my mom's old repair garage and the best gorditas you'll ever have in your life."
"Sure," Nico agrees. It might take them a bit longer but it's not as if they have anything else to do. No prophecies to fulfill, no quests to carry out, no world-destruction to stop.
Leo puts his hand over Nico's again and this time Nico turns his hand over and laces their fingers together. Leo's hand is downright hot from playing with the candles so much, but Nico thinks it's nice.
As the candlelight dances in the wind along with Leo's hair, Nico realizes that even though he has always felt safest in the shadows, fire is not too bad either.
