Tbh the problem with ship wars is that everyone tries to find a moral high ground to prove their ship is superior when actually shipping should be about making two characters kiss like a kid playing with barbie dolls

I FINALLY DID IT
After hours of work I have compiled a chart of Tumblr's top 100 ships according to Tumblr's "Year in Review 2022" ships and organized them by fandom.
So! Here's how much of the top 100 each Fandom takes up!

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you are allowed to have a favorite character out of a particular ship. You’re allowed to mostly focus on that character in any fics or art you create. You’re allowed to have a lesser understanding of their counterpart. You do not need to have every ounce of lore in order to ship them. Heck- you can even just like a ship for vibes.
Just because you love a ship doesn’t mean both characters are your absolute favorites. You’re allowed to relate more to one over the other. You’re allowed to make that other character your focus.

On Friends-To-Lovers:
I get so annoyed when people throw around the “healthy platonic relationships are so important” thing because YES THEY ARE but you don’t actually think that.
What you think is that, in this particular case, I want these two characters to stay platonic so that I can ship my ship and, simultaneously, feel morally superior. The reality is that there are multiple non-canon ships for whom this applies… but one of them happens to be queer.
Woah hold those trigger fingers!!
While this train of logic does apply to people calling queer coded relationships “besties” or, heaven forbid, “brothers”, it also applies to straight (or straight-presenting) relationships.
You do not need to write two characters as romantic interests (or *groan* enemies) for the story to be romantic. It is OKAY for those characters to form a deep, romantic and emotional bond after years of building trust and loyalty.
As a person who identifies as demisexual, I find the erasure of friends-to-lovers extremely harmful and inherently invalidating. Especially now that we are seeing screenwriters and authors being critical of the trope.
Please, sit me down and explain to me in excruciating details why these two characters - who have seen each other through their darkest periods, who have been each other’s personal cheerleaders, who have loved each other unconditionally - are not good as lovers?
“But can’t two characters just be friends anymore?!”
They certainly can and good for you for believing that characters should show genuine love for one another without having any romantic feelings. But that doesn’t mean the latter can’t exist.
Listen, I never go in expecting my ship to happen and I never expect everyone to agree with it but it drives me up the wall to be invalidated purely because friendship and romantic love can’t coexist in your world. If you want to believe that platonic soulmates should be a thing (AND THEY SHOULD), you also need to understand that you cannot use that term to invalidate another’s ship when the foundations of your own (usually rival) ship are the exact same as mine.

Demonization of the Enemies to Lovers Trope
I find it very disingenuous when Zutara antis compare or lump Zutara with problematic ships like Reylo and Dramione. Anyone who makes a claim like this should have not any opinions about ATLA respected. Because they obviously did not watch the show.
There are major differences that set Zutara apart from Reylo and Dramione.
Zutara vs Dramione - Friendship
Zuko and Katara reconciled and became very close friends in season 3. Draco and Hermione disliked each other in canon and the best of their relationship was civility. Dramione could have served the same narrative function as Zutara by representing union after war but Dramione lacked the canon building blocks that Zutara had.
Zutara vs Reylo - Redemption
Zuko has a powerful redemption arc. But even when Zuko was an antagonist, he was never truly evil. And Zuko's actions towards Katara (eg tying her to a tree) were not completely monstrous. Zuko and Katara never crossed any boundaries while enemies. When Katara starts showing compassion to Zuko, it is in season 2 when Zuko is no longer an active threat (eg. offering to heal Iroh and their emotional moment in the catacombs). Compare this to Reylo where there are all these romantic undertones while Reylo and Kylo are still enemies. Kylo also has a worse record than Zuko: murdering his dad, oppressing countless people, killing civilians, and maiming people. And Rey for some reason, before Kylo does anything to deserve it, begins to feel sorry for him. Unlike Zuko, we don't see Kylo truly atone for what he did to Rey. Not to mention the abusive elements in their relationship such as Kylo calling Rey worthless.
The point is that people need to stop demonizing enemies to lovers ships. And stop lumping healthy ships like Zutara with more toxic ships like Dramione and Reylo. It's not a fair comparison.

I think people tend to misinterpret characters by glossing over many complex nuanced aspects of their personalities to fit archetypes they want to interact with (in a fandom way) and to help their shipping goals by means of this.
I find it far more intriguing thinking “what would it take for these two characters to fall in love” than justifying whether their canonical relationship is romantic or if it’s a “good” ship.
This could take the form of underlying circumstances in the plot of the story or even an AU where they’re baristas in college and not in world-ending scenarios, but also with new developed backstories and prospective development of their characters due to these (theoretical shipping story’s) events.

Okay, so as the fandom likes to claim that Harry/Hermione wouldn't work because Harry himself says that he likes her as a sister, I thought I'll make a post about that. After all, it's something we hear from his mouth, right? It's supposed to be the "smoking gun" evidence.
All we have to do, however, is to look at the situation more closely.
*rubs hands together*.
First of all, you can say one thing and mean another. As canon shippers claim that there's evidence of Romione before book 4 which are NOT romantic in nature (as in you don't have to actually say that you like someone, as Romione shippers bring up things like Hermione noticing Ron's face closely in the first book, etc), we can apply the same principle to Harmony. There's a whole lot of textual evidence that Harry finds her attractive.
“After you left,” he said in a low voice, grateful for the fact that Ron’s face was hidden, “she cried for a week. Probably longer, only she didn’t want me to see. There were loads of nights when we never even spoke to each other. With you gone..."
Two things to note here:
Harry's apparently grateful that Ron's face is hidden when he makes this statement, which should make us wonder how truthful he's being.
The emphasis on the "nights" is interesting. We do know that they were actively discussing the location of the Horcruxes, from an early chapter, despite being sad initially that Ron had left. But of course Harry cannot tell him that. He had just returned, and so he makes it sound as if they hardly spoke to each other after Ron had left. That's a lie.
Like I said, we have to look at the context. They had moved on without Ron, and part of the reason Harry says that is probably to make him feel better now that he's back.
And lastly, Harry even considered Ginny as his sister initially. Have a look at this:
They had lived, had they not, like brother and sister all summer, playing Quidditch, teasing Ron, and having a laugh about Bill and Phlegm?
Yes, Harry's rationalizing it to himself, but he's doing that by thinking back to how he essentially considered Ginny as his sister while they were at The Burrow.
So, no, it's not a slam-dunk argument when canon shippers bring it up, even though it certainly looks like that on the surface.

Who should Draco end up with? (I’m sorry but I won’t be adding Harry in this, trust me, it hurts me more than it hurts you)
I want to know what you guys think: when it comes to a partner for Draco, who should it be? I ship Draco with Harry but we’re not counting that, I guess Astoria, since, I do love me some tragic romance, but the impact and their story is more interesting than the ship itself. But Draco is 100% gay in my mind.

lavmione headcanons
— their first kiss was impulsive
— harry was the first person lavender told she had a crush on hermione. ron was the first person hermione told
— lavender LOVES to braid hermione’s hair
— hermione fell first, lavender fell harder
— after the dom hermione had nightmares and lavender heard and helped her
— physical touch and acts of service is their love language
— lavender has little freckles on her nose and it’s one of hermiones favourite things about her
— lavender is one of the only people that can actually get hermione to put her book down
— lavender makes little heart bookmarks for her
— like ron, lavender isn’t scared to call out hermione about something. like her hatred for divination, if she needs a break, etc..
— they both get jealous very easily
— they officially got together in hbp after the whole ron fiasco and then broke up in dh bc of the war and etc. they got together two years after the war when hermione couldn’t stop thinking about her and showed up at her doorstep and then lived happily ever after<33

Me, gently holding your face and looking deep into your eyes:
👼 Listen, listen, not liking a ship enough of a reason. You don't need to bash a part of the ship when it's clear you just don't like it. It's fine. Everything will be ok 👼

Current HP fandom feels like a soulless reboot of a beloved classic.
Honestly agreed, everything was so much better like 5 years ago. People actually talked about the Lightning era’s characters and had interesting discourse, but ever since tiktok and the Marauders fandom happened, it all just went downhill and became a much more toxic place imo.
