Take a Chance on Me

After wielding the Infinity Stones, time seemed to move differently for Tony.
Maybe it was because of the snap that nearly killed him. Maybe it was a residue of time warping to different decades. Maybe it was elation due to the fact that they'd actually succeeded.
Or maybe Tony was just getting old.
The world was safe again and he could finally rest. And so time ticked away, seasons came and went, and before Tony knew it, Morgan was already seven and three years had passed in what felt only like months.
During that time, Pepper had moved back to the city: first merely for weekdays and then one day permanently. At least the divorce was a smooth, relatively painless process—not that Tony had expected anything else where Pepper was concerned.
Tony had debated on leaving the lakehouse but found he couldn't. Morgan deserved to keep her childhood home during the weeks that she was his, and Tony liked being near the rebuilt Avengers compound. The occasional winged figure soaring in the skies or the muted explosions of a new superhero generation being trained were tangible proof that he'd actually made a difference.
It was a somewhat solitary life. Even with Morgan, the bots and the damn alpaca scurrying about, Tony's social circle had been drastically reduced in the last decade. Conferences and extravagant parties had given way for a workshop in the garage and falling asleep to cartoons at 8 PM. Tony didn't even have to wear a disguise in public anymore: he'd simply fallen out of the general population's perception.
It was a blessing and a curse. On one hand, Morgan wouldn't have to grow up in Tony's shadow like he had in Howard's. In fact, most of Morgan's classmates were much more awestruck over Pepper, the renowned CEO of Stark Industries, than Morgan's dad with the weird arm who picked her up from soccer practice and sometimes built robots.
On the other hand, Tony was alone a lot of the time. And after years of first living with the Avengers and then with his wife and child, he didn't do so well with loneliness anymore.
Sometimes when it got particularly bad, he'd put on the armor's helmet and play a 360 degree recording of the latest Avengers meeting at the Compound and, yes, he knew full well how sad that was. Tony had retired of his own free will and had a new family now, a daughter who required his full attention and who he loved more than anything else in the world.
But if Tony's eyes still started misting inside the helmet whenever he saw Natasha's empty chair in the meetings, that was nobody's business but his own.
Still, it wasn't like the house was empty even on the weeks Morgan was with Pepper. Rhodey visited almost every weekend, marathoning LotR with Morgan or having beers with Tony on the porch, reminiscing about the good old days like the two old geezers that they were. Happy didn't come by as often now that he no longer had to drive Tony places, but when he did, he usually brought very welcome cheeseburgers and wholly unwelcome dating advice with him.
"You know, Pepper works fifty hours a week and still has time to date," Happy said.
"Well, anyone would fall for Pepper," Tony said around a bite of beef patty and cheddar cheese. "She just has to show up on a date and say one sentence and bam, boyfriend acquired. Not very time-consuming."
"At least she's putting herself out there," Happy insisted. "But if you want to keep being a hermit, there are a bunch of apps—"
"Yeah, because surely I'd be a hit on those," Tony huffed. "Not so much genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist these days; more like single dad, amputee in chronic pain, lost half of my assets in the divorce and spent the remainder rebuilding the Compound. What a catch!"
"The right person won't care about any of that," Happy said. "You just have to take the plunge. Don't you wish you had someone to share your life with?"
"I have Morgan," Tony simply replied, though that wasn't the entire truth.
Because there was also Steve.
Steve was the reason Tony had only lost an arm instead of his life, leaping across what felt like half of the battlefield and flinging himself at Tony to share the burden of the stones. Realistically, probably most of the burden; they knew from the Guardians that even just one stone could give five enhanced individuals a nasty zap when using its power. And nanotech armor or not, Tony was only a baseline human.
After Thanos' army faded away, Steve was the last thing Tony saw before he passed out and the first thing he saw when he woke up. Tony had stared at Steve's dumbstruck face hovering near the hospital bed, rasped "Please tell me nobody kissed me," and Steve had laughed. Just like back in New York.
Except this time, Steve didn't go on a fuck-you-all roadtrip after and leave Tony to deal with the collateral (and emotional) damage. Instead, he'd decided he was personally responsible for the upkeep of Tony and Pepper's lakehouse, and also picking up Morgan from kindergarten when Pepper was busy and going grocery shopping as long as Tony couldn't drive and feeding Gerald the moody alpaca that had already kicked him in the shin—twice. Steve would show up every few days and Tony would pretend to be annoyed even as Morgan squealed and ran out into the driveway to greet him. Clearly, Steve was bored after passing on the shield to Sam, and helping Tony "Designated Charity Case" Stark was either his way of feeling useful or apologizing to Pepper for crippling her husband.
Probably both.
To his credit, Tony did try to fight Steve on it the first few months, but he really should have learned by then that there was no out-stubborning Steve Rogers when it came to doing the right thing. Tony had fully expected Steve's wellness checks to stop as soon as he received his prosthetic arm and finished his physical therapy, but that was almost two years ago and Tony still had leftovers in the fridge from when Steve cooked dinner for him and Morgan last weekend.
If anything, Steve's visits had only become more frequent over the years, which had made some sense after the divorce, but not so much now that Tony had almost full mobility of his arm back. Still, Steve was a big help and Morgan obviously loved him, so Tony had grown kind of fond of their weird little routine and wasn't about to ruin it by demanding Steve's motivations.
Of course, other people weren't as willing to ignore the subject.
"So… you and Steve," Bruce said when he was visiting for his semi-regular science talks with Tony—which more often than not ended in tea and Avengers gossip and raiding Morgan's cookie stash. The Hulk's personality might lie dormant, but his appetite did not.
"There is no me and Steve," Tony huffed. "There's just Steve and Steve's guilt complex. He likes collecting sad people missing an arm; it's kind of his thing, if you hadn't noticed."
"Uh-huh," Bruce said.
"I'm telling you, that guy sees someone with a prosthetic and immediately whips out the adoption papers," Tony kept going. "But hey, if he wants to waste his life mowing my lawn and washing my dishes, I'm not about to complain. Having your personal supersoldier is a lot cheaper than paying for a gardener or cleaning service—and much more efficient when it comes to chopping firewood, too."
"Right," Bruce said. "So who are the flowers from, Tony?"
Tony kept his face carefully neutral and resisted the urge to glance at the bouquet he knew was sitting in a vase on the coffee table. Steve had brought the flowers a week ago and they were starting to wilt, but Tony kept "forgetting" to throw them away.
"Morgan likes flowers," Tony said in explanation.
"I doubt Steve would bring your kid flowers that mean 'Please give me a chance'," Bruce said, because of course he happened to be fluent in flower language. "Have you ever considered he might be sticking around for some other reason than guilt?"
"Jesus, Bruce, let the man bring some platonic flowers!" Tony exclaimed. "You know you're perpetuating toxic masculinity, right? I'll file a complaint to Avengers HR and sic Carol on you."
Bruce rolled his eyes so hard Tony thought he saw a flash of green in them. At least the Hulk would have laughed at the absurd notion of Steve trying to court Tony.
"Anyway, as I was saying about the particle collider…" Tony started, then went quiet as he heard the familiar sound of a motorcycle pulling up in the driveway.
"Oh look, Steve's home," Bruce deadpanned.
"Ha ha, very funny," Tony said. He checked the calendar on the fridge only to confirm what he already knew; it was indeed Tuesday, and Steve wasn't supposed to come by until Friday to help Tony unload the hay bales he'd ordered for his ungrateful alpaca. "He probably just broke his phone or something and wants me to fix it. Sit tight, I'll be right back."
Tony didn't wait for Bruce's reply before walking out on the porch. Steve was already getting off his bike, but rather than the dirt-stained jeans or a sinfully tight t-shirt Tony was used to seeing him in while he did his handiwork around the property, Steve was dressed in a leather jacket and had even styled his hair.
Oh, and on top of looking unfairly good he was also carrying a bouquet of red tulips.
"Tony!" Steve's face lit up and he practically jogged up to meet Tony. "How was your day?"
Tony blinked. "It's Tuesday."
"Yeah, uh…" Steve's smile turned sheepish. "I just thought I'd swing by to see if you wanted to grab dinner together? Oh, and I drove past a florist on the way—here, these are…I mean, you can have them. If you want."
Steve shoved the flowers at Tony and he grabbed them more out of reflex than anything else.
"...Thanks?" Tony said, regarding Steve skeptically. "I'll have to say no on the dinner, though."
"Oh," Steve said, his face falling like Tony had kicked a puppy instead of declining to eat with him.
"I have a week's worth of leftovers to get through because you made enough to feed a small army. Remember?"
Steve frowned. "You didn't throw them away?"
"Well, somebody who grew up during the great depression has taught me not to waste food." Tony smirked. "But hey, you guys have a good time."
"...What?"
"Oh come on, you're clearly dressed up," Tony said, gesturing to all of Steve. "It's obviously some kind of group outing that you wanted to invite the resident hermit to. No need to keep up the act."
Steve was quiet for a beat—probably embarrassed Tony had seen through his white lies—before he seemed to deflate.
"Yeah," Steve said. "Sorry. It was a dumb idea. Have a good night, Ton—Bruce!?"
Tony heard the doorframe creak as Bruce squeezed himself through it.
"Hiya, Steve!" Bruce chirped way too cheerfully. "Funny seeing you here."
Tony glared at Bruce. Bruce resolutely ignored it.
"Yeah, you too," Steve said and, geez, he even pulled out the fake Captain America smile. "Sorry for intruding, I didn't see your car. Weren't you two supposed to be meeting next week?"
"Oh, yeah, Tony just rescheduled a few days ago," Bruce said, the traitor. Thankfully, he didn't know that the reason for Tony's urgent change of plans was because the five days without both Morgan and Steve would have been miserable otherwise.
"And it's no biggie, I was just leaving anyway—Jen's picking me up from the main road," Bruce had the audacity to lie, because Tony was supposed to drop him off later in the evening. "There's a few cups of coffee left in the machine if you want it."
"Actually, I was just…" Steve nodded awkwardly at his bike.
"Yes, see, he's leaving," Tony said. "You both were, but somehow you're still right here—"
"Oh, speaking of Jen," Bruce interrupted, "she keeps bugging me for your number," Bruce told Steve, then grimaced. "In…not so child-friendly terms."
Tony bit the inside of his cheek to keep himself from commenting on that delightful bit of information. He'd only met Jennifer once, but she was an absolutely stunning woman, not to mention could match even Steve's strength. If Steve took her up on that offer, they'd make one hell of a couple. She'd be lucky—Steve would be lucky to be with her, of course.
"Sorry." Steve gave a little half-smile. "Not interested in some one-time thing."
"Yeah, I thought so," Bruce said, then looked at the bouquet Tony was now clutching a little too forcefully. "Nice flowers, by the way. Red for undying love, right?"
"Oh, here we go again," Tony groaned.
"Uh," Steve said, his face steadily approaching the color of the flowers. "I just thought they…looked nice."
"I'm sure," Bruce said. "I assume they were out of flowers that said 'Tony, you idiot, there is no group outing, I was asking you out on a date'?"
"Oh my god, Bruce, get in the damn car and I'll drive you—wait, what?" Tony said, the words only now registering.
"Have fun!" Bruce said and—Tony could only describe it as fled—the scene.
And so Tony stood there on his porch like an idiot, with the offending tulips in his hand and a dolled-up, fidgeting and completely silent Steve in front of him.
"That's the last time I let Bruce into the cookie stash," Tony finally said.
That seemed to snap Steve out of his stupor. "Yeah, I…didn't expect that. At least not from Bruce."
"Sorry about him," Tony said. He held out the bouquet. "You should probably take these back, huh? With the 'undying love' and whatnot."
Tony tried for a grin. If he just didn't think about Bruce's words, he might survive this conversation with his dignity intact. Steve would laugh and sheepishly take the flowers and leave, and Tony could back inside and casually scream into a pillow. As you do.
But because Tony's life was never easy, Steve didn't accept the flowers. He just stared at them, then at Tony, then flushed all the way up to his ears and cleared his throat.
"No," Steve said, stubbornly keeping eye contact even though he was clearly dying inside. "No, I don't think I will."
"O-kaaay," Tony drawled, slowly withdrawing the bouquet. What the hell was up with Steve today?
"Unless…unless you're actually rejecting me," Steve soldiered on through his visible discomfort. "And I've been too dense to notice it all this time."
Tony opened his mouth to ask if Steve was having a stroke and promptly closed it. There was clearly something going on here that went deeper than Tony saying no to getting pizza or whatever with Steve, but like so many times before, they were just talking past each other.
"Steve," Tony said levelly. "Why are you really here?"
Steve stood up a little straighter even though he was still ugly blushing.
"Because I thought you were free and wanted to take you out to dinner," Steve said.
Tony squinted at him. "And you…dressed up and brought flowers—"
"Clearly should've picked the 'I'm asking you out on a date, you goddamn idiot' flowers instead," Steve huffed.
Tony blinked. He stared. He tried to process the earth-shattering discovery that Steve actually wanted to court him.
It didn't make sense. Tony had questions. He also still wanted to scream into that pillow. There was so much to talk about.
Of course, what came out of Tony's mouth was, "Language, Cap."
Steve's face did something funny at that: like his body couldn't decide whether to laugh or cringe. Smooth, Tony.
Eventually, Steve did burst out laughing, though it had a hysteric edge to it. Tony could relate wholeheartedly.
Tony cleared his throat and Steve stopped laughing. "What I meant was: hi, my name is Tony Stark, single dad missing an arm and owning the world's rudest alpaca," Tony rambled. "And you're Steve Rogers, literal human perfection, standing on my porch and expecting me to believe that you being here is anything more than pity."
"What?" Steve said. "C'mon, Tony, you can't really believe that. It's been over three years." Tony shrugged, and Steve's eyes went wide. "You mean…all this time you thought—"
"Yes? No? In my defense, I tried not to think about it at all, because I liked having you around and the idea of being your good deed of the day kinda put a damper on that."
"How…" Steve said, then shook his head. "Doesn't matter. You're wrong. I started helping you because you're my friend, and then I stuck around because…well, I liked being here."
"And now you want to go on a date. With me. Romantically," Tony clarified.
Steve nodded. "Yes."
"Why?" Tony asked.
"Why do people usually go on dates?" Steve shrugged. "I wanna be with you, and I really think we could be good together."
"But you're…this," Tony, again, gestured to all of Steve. "And I'm…" He glanced down at his workshop tee and grease-stained sweatpants; a far cry from the suits and booty jeans he'd worn in his prime. "Well, I definitely put the 'dad' in 'dad bod'."
Steve just kept looking at him. "And?"
"And you don't want someone like me!" Tony exclaimed. "I'm irresponsible and frankly terrible at relationships, always have been, and I miss being Iron Man and don't know what to do with myself the weeks Morgan's at Pep's." Steve didn't seem phased, so Tony took a shallow breath and quickly continued, "Sometimes I spy on Avengers meetings and cry, and my shoulder still hurts from the stones and the burn scars look hideous and I have nightmares from the wormhole and—and, oh, okay, we're kissing now—"
Steve, apparently done with Tony's pity party, took the liberty of cupping Tony's cheek and leaning in to kiss him. Which, all things considered, was probably the most effective way he'd ever managed to shut Tony up.
Tony's brain was too fried for him to do much more than stand there and let himself be kissed. To be fair, this was the most action he'd gotten in almost three years and he'd never realized how much he'd missed it. The kiss was little more than a soft press of their lips but the simple intimacy of it was enough to flood Tony's body with happy chemicals.
Eventually, he did manage to kiss back, but Steve still pulled away much too soon.
"Are you done?" Steve asked, and it really was quite persuasive when murmured against Tony's lips.
"...With the self-loathing or the kissing?" Tony asked. "Because I was kinda just getting started with the latter."
Steve chuckled and pressed their lips together again and, okay, wow, it really was that easy.
They were both much more confident this time. Steve kissed with meaning, Tony pulled him closer by his stupidly sexy leather jacket, Steve rubbed his thumb over Tony's five o' clock shadow and Tony tilted his head to make the slide of their lips easier. He might not have kissed anyone in years, but he could totally do this—it was like riding a bike, right? He just had to play it cool.
And then Steve lapped at the seam of his lips, and, really, how was Tony supposed to not clutch his jacket and let out a pathetic moan?
That was apparently the cue for Steve to break the kiss, but luckily he didn't look weirded out by Tony's desperation; in fact, he was blushing again and even panting a little, which was a pretty nice ego boost considering how much it took for Steve to get winded.
"Sorry, I, uh." Steve cleared his throat and took a step back and Tony bravely resisted his body's urge to scream no, no, no, come back! "I got a little too into that," Steve said.
Tony raised an eyebrow. "Did it look like I was complaining?"
"Well, I still have some things I need to make clear," Steve said.
Oh, boy. Tony straightened his back and steeled himself for the good ol' "Tony, you're so great—except for those five hundred flaws of yours that mean we'll never work out" spiel.
Steve took a deep breath and started, "You're the bravest, most heroic man I've ever met and I'm sorry it took me over ten years to realize that."
Tony blinked. That was a weird start to friendzone someone.
"You have a brilliant mind but more than that, you have a big heart," Steve said. "You care so much about everyone around you, even if they hurt you—"
Steve winced and Tony felt the phantom sensation of Siberian snow on his face and something heavy pressing down on the suit's arc reactor.
"When I came here three years ago, I expected you to scream in my face, and I wouldn't have blamed you," Steve said. "Instead, you helped me. You trusted me. You forgave me. And then you saved the world—again." Steve smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners; Tony had never noticed the wrinkles before. "And after, you let me be a part of your new life. You let me be a part of Morgan's. And, god, Tony the way you are with her… How could I not fall in love with you?"
Okay, well, that was just unfair. Tony had been just about ready to accept that Steve wasn't about to dump him before they'd even gotten started, but now he had to process the fact that Steve apparently loved him too. Despite all of the bright red, painfully obvious warning signs.
Maybe Happy was right. Maybe the right person wouldn't care.
"I can't even describe how much the last three years have meant to me. How much you mean to me," Steve said, his pretty blue eyes staring deep into Tony's. "And if you'll have me, I promise I'll do my damndest to make you happy."
Tony still wasn't quite sure if this was real. Maybe he was dreaming or Bruce's tea had a little extra something.
But hallucination or not, there was no reality where he'd ever be able to resist Steve Rogers spilling his heart and asking to date Tony.
"Okay," Tony said.
Steve blinked, then gave him a hesitant smile. "Really?"
"Well, my kid already loves you, and that's like 90% of my dating criteria these days," Tony said. "I also might have been planning on exploding the workshop roof on purpose so I could get you to come back before Friday, because not having you around freaks me out and five days is way too long."
Steve's smile widened and he stepped closer again. "I know the feeling. I barely managed two before I needed to see you."
Tony's heart did funny things at that and since Steve was already right there, Tony figured he might as well steal another kiss.
Steve made a happy little sigh when their lips met and Tony felt like an absolute idiot for not pulling on this thread sooner. There had just been too much at stake, with their rocky history and Tony's injuries and the divorce and Morgan—
Shit. What if Steve didn't understand how important Morgan was in all this?
"Full disclosure," Tony said, pulling away. "Morgan still has complete veto rights. She says no, this ends right away."
Rather than nod grimly like Tony expected, Steve smiled sheepishly. "Well, actually…I don't think Morgan's opinion will be a problem."
Tony stared. "Please say you didn't tell my kid you wanna bang me."
Steve took a moment to look at Tony like he was an idiot. "Your child," Steve started, "was the one who came up to me two weeks ago and said 'Daddy still doesn't know you love him. You should bring him flowers'."
Some kind of noise escaped Tony's throat; a quiet wheeze in the spirit of Holy shit my seven-year-old daughter tried to set me up with Captain America.
Steve chuckled. "Yeah, that was my reaction too."
"Why…what…how?" Tony managed.
"I've heard from multiple sources that I'm not as subtle with my feelings as I think I am," Steve said, then got a mischievous glint in his eye and added, "and Morgan's always been smarter than her old man, anyway."
Tony barked out a surprised laugh at the unexpected sass.
"Oh, really?" Tony said around a grin. "That's how it's gonna be with you, huh?"
Steve smirked. "Maybe."
"I can already tell you're going to be a menace," Tony teased. "You're lucky you're cute."
"I thought I was 'human perfection'."
Tony snorted a surprised—and extremely unattractive—laugh. Steve merely grinned, and, god, when was the last time anyone but Morgan had made Tony laugh like this?
"Well, mister Human Perfection," Tony said, brushing his hand against Steve's. "Still wanna have dinner with me? I've got cold coffee and leftover casserole."
Steve smiled and laced his fingers with Tony's. "Sounds like a plan."
That was when Steve pulled him close and kissed him again, and Tony decided he could definitely get used to this.

everybody wants a happy ending | ch. 01
summary: It has been a year since Tony died as a hero defeating Thanos. While world slowly recovers from the repercussions, Y/N and her daughter is having a hard time moving on. Being Tony Stark’s daughter has its perks, though. Like access to a time machine that allows her to maybe save her father?
Tumblr media
warnings: mentions of death, grieving, trauma, and spoilers of Avengers: Endgame if you haven’t watched it
pairings: Tony Stark x fem!reader x daughter Stark
word count: 1,554 (6 minutes reading time)
author’s notes: I’ve had this idea since watching Endgame and seeing Steve growing old with Peggy, but watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reassured me of the plot and I’m so excited to finally write this. If you have any feedback, please let me know. My ask box is always open! I tried to keep the whole time machine mechanism as close to Endgame as possible, but because of the plot there’s gonna be a loophole on that part, I hope you don’t mind. I also thought of naming the daughter Morgan, but Morgan had more connections to Pepper. So I changed it to Adaline with Addie as nickname, you’ll find out why in the following chapters 😉
“Hey, kiddo!” Happy’s voice boomed across the spacious building. His arms were outstretched as if he owned the entire place, encouraging the six-year-old girl next to you to come and give him a hug. Though at the level of involvement Happy now has in Tony’s absence as you get back on your feet, he might as well be considered the owner of the current Avengers Facility you are in.
Addie let go of your hand and jumped into Happy’s arms, giggling and squeezing the man as if they hadn’t just seen each other yesterday.
“What did you learn in school today?” Happy asked.
“Adding and subtracting!” She answered enthusiastically.
“Well, that shouldn’t be too hard, right?” He asked, knowing well that the little girl must have inherited her father’s penchant for math and sciences.
You watched them with a smile, specifically observing the smile and radiance in your little girl’s eyes. The two of you had been having a hard time moving on after Tony’s death a year ago; constantly missing him around the house. So to see Addie in such good mood and maybe forgetting her own grief for a while brought you a smidgen of joy.
“Alright, sweetie, I have some things to discuss with Uncle Happy, so why don’t you go play for a while? After that we can go get lunch. What do you say?” you said to her, eager to start the meeting so you can get back home to the comforts of your little cabin.
“Cheeseburgers?” She quipped excitedly.
You chuckled, “Okay. But that’s it for this week, okay?”
“Okay, Mommy!” She hopped off Happy’s arms and ran off to leave the two of you.
“Stay in the lobby, Addie!” Happy called out, watching her skip away.
Tumblr media
Addie Stark was born to two of the most ambitious, smart, and somewhat stubborn people. You and Tony had a love story worthy of a novel or a Netflix TV show where the two main characters were born into success and wealth; with you inheriting your parents’ company and Tony inheriting his. Initially, you hated each other’s guts.
Or at least, you hated Tony and his penchant for showing off, mouthing off, and sleeping his way across the world with any attractive women he could lay his eyes on. The main reason he vexed you was because he thought he could do to you what he did to those women. It showed you how low he thinks of you.
“I’m sorry to break it to you, Mr. Stark, but my self-esteem and dignity is priced higher than a glass of champagne and a bad pickup line,” you once said to him, causing his confidence to waver a little bit. That started his mission of persistently seducing you into bed and as a result your growing annoyance.
Tumblr media
Addie strayed away and walked into a large room whose doors should probably have been closed to keep curiosities at bay, but whoever was in charge made the mistake of leaving it wide open.
“Wow,” she whispered in astonishment.
She was there when Tony built the time machine after sneaking off from bed and into his lab back at home, in hopes of getting another juice pop before bed. She saw the machine’s digital blueprint, so she knew what it roughly looks like, but she never imagined for it to be this huge.
She knew she was supposed to stay in the lobby, but it got boring really quick when there is only a sofa and some papers she could scribble on with a boring lead pencil. The little girl stepped onto the monitor and pushed a few buttons, giggling at the sounds. Something was starting to happen at the center of the time machine. Curious, Addie walked to the center and blinked. When she opened her eyes, she was no longer at the Avengers Facility, but rather standing on the sidewalk of…Manhattan?
She heard the familiar whooshing sound above her head and immediately looked up to see the red-gold Iron Man suit zipping between buildings. Everybody around her gasped and exclaimed at the sudden appearance of the Tony Stark.
“Daddy!” Addie shouted out, running past people to catch up with him, but he was gone in a blink of an eye. Addie pouted, reality dawning on her that it could not have been her father, because he was gone, and that her mother would be so angry to find out that she has strayed too far from the lobby.
Addie looked around, trying to find her way back, but she had only been in Manhattan a handful of times, and she was always sitting in a car. She didn’t know how to get back to the facility. That was when her eyes landed on a picture of her father on the front page of a newspaper. Addie picked it up and looked at the top right corner to see the date 23 Sep- Semptember? 2009. The last four digits seem to jump at her.
Uh oh.
“Can I help ya, kid?” The man at the newspaper stand asked grumpily. Addie looked up at him, teary-eyed and lips quivering. “Oh come on, now, don’t cry,” he softened. “Where’s your mom?” He asked.
“I don’t know. I’m lost,” Addie admitted. “Her name is Y/N Y/L/N. Do you know her?” You asked. You knew your parents were famous, of course, especially now that you saw your dad’s face plastered on most of the newspaper the man was selling.
“Whoa, Y/N Y/L/N has a kid? Wonder why none of these gossip tabloids wrote about it yet,” he chuckled. “Well, I don’t know her personally, but I do know that’s her office right there,” he pointed at a building across the street.
“That one with the door that is spinning around?” Addie asked.
“Yep. Saw her walk into it every morning. In fact, I saw her this morning too,” he shrugged as if it was no big deal that he sees someone famous every morning.
“Okay, thank you!” Addie turned around fast and ran towards the zebra cross a few feet away.
“Hey! Do ya need me to walk ya?” The man shouted from behind her.
“No, that’s okay!” Addie shouted back as the light turned red and she immediately ran across the street, way ahead of the other pedestrians.
Tumblr media
Addie slipped into the large lobby and looked around. People were too engrossed in their own conversations or phone calls to notice the little girl still in her school uniform and backpack. No matter how many times Addie tried to tug or tap someone to ask them if they know where her mother was, she was constantly getting ignored.
“Another Tony Stark party? Honestly, does this man have nothing better to do?” 2009-you asked your assistant sarcastically. The urge to call him and tell him to stop sending you invitations is skyrocketing by now.
“Mommy!” Addie shouted, hugging your thighs because that was as far as she could reach with you wearing your high heels. Something present you never really wore anymore since you were pregnant with Addie.
You almost fell back, but thank goodness you had great balance.
“Uh…hi there. Who are you?” You asked, a little bit confused as you hugged the girl back with uncertainty. You looked around to check if someone looked like they were missing a kid.
“It’s Addie, Mommy,” she looked up at you.
Your brows furrowed, that’s twice that she has called you that now. “I’m sorry, what do you mean?” You asked gently as you squatted down to her level.
“I played with Daddy’s time machine and now I’m here. I don’t know how to get back,” she frowned, tears filling her brown eyes.
“A time machine?” You repeated, incredulous. You know that advanced science has been showing up ever since Tony Stark came back from Afghanistan and created his obnoxious red and gold suit, but a time machine still felt like science fiction to you.
“Yes, the really big one Uncle Happy showed me but he said I cannot touch,” Addie’s lips quivered.
“Happy? As in Happy Hogan, Tony Stark’s bodyguard?”
“Yes!” Addie lit up.
“Okay, is this some kind of joke Tony is trying to play with me? Did he pay you or buy you something?” You asked, careful not to hurt the little girl’s feelings but clearly fuming that Tony is even going through all these length to mess with you after you clearly insisted that he stop.
“No, Mommy. It’s really Addie,” the girl frowned again. “See?” She pulled out a necklace that was hidden behind her shirt collar and showed you the same dainty necklace that dangles on your neck right now. She then pulled the tag on her backpack and turned it to show you the writings on it.

#THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL DRAWING AND IT IS MAKING ME FEEL THINGS!!!!
One of the things being the denial of all events of endgame lol
Tony stark didn't die. he absorbed the power from the infinity stones because i said so, and then he became the infinity stones, except the soul stone. because steve went to vormir to return it and brought natasha back to life and they returned to their og timline because i said so. natasha is the soul stone because i said so. they all go home and live a happy avenging family life at the compound, morgan eats cheeseburgers with her dad and peter finally hugs tony. all is well<3

Would you write a fluff Druig imagine set after Endgame where the reader is Tony Stark’s younger sister who’s hiding her grief as she’s taken over his duties (other than being Iron Man) after his passing so she’s the epitome of the quote “you take care of everyone but who takes care of you?” since he’s developed feelings for her? Thank you!
let me take care of you
editor's notes ; hi anon !!! thank you for requesting KJSDHKJSAHKADSH i kinda got off topic, especially since this is an imagine and...yeah DSKHAJKHAKJ it also focused on the events of endgame, so if you haven't watched it, yeah, there are kinda spoilers. but ngl, i think it's good to see how the y/n also cared for everyone, which can be seen throughout the fic. although not everything is canon compliant since i haven't watched avengers: endgame in a while, so let me know what you think!
wc ; 2.21k
warnings ; a few eternals spoilers ahead but not really lol ALSKFALKFHKJ avengers endgame spoilers, major character death but it's not you or druig lol, uh mediocre fight scenes KJASDHKJDAH, cursing, angst, hurt/comfort esp at the end ! a bit of fluff (let me know if i missed anything!)
summary ; druig has been with you for quite sometime now, especially in your hardest times. he's just tired of you dealing with it alone.
pairing ; druig x stark! reader (you're tony's younger sister, but not too young, kinda like the same age as natasha or younger)

unbeknownst to the other eternals, sersi wasn't the only one with a human lover. druig has been visiting his lover when thanos and his children attacked earth, and being the younger sister of iron man, you went with your brother to help and defeat thanos. you were with him on titan, screaming when thanos had your brother, forcing dr. strange to give up the stone. you were with him when peter and the others started turning into dust. and five years later, druig watched as you helped your brother figure out how to bring back the others.
as it is not in his mission as an eternal, his family didn't want to intervene with the events before and during the so-called blip. he did, however, visit you in the five years that half the population were gone. despite popular belief, druig does have a soft spot…for you, that is.
"hello, my love," you softly smiled at druig as he placed his forehead against yours. you were in your office (of some sorts), doing your duties to the stark industries to help your brother and his wife, given that they now had morgan. "have you rested, dear?"
you stopped for a while, rubbing your eyes. "hi, druig. i'm okay, just catching up on stark duties. my brother has been focusing on the time travel thingy, so i need to help pepper with the company."
druig was quick to hold your hands, bringing them to his lips, making you laugh. "what are you doing, druig?"
"come with me, y/n," druig said, pressing a light kiss on your lips. his hands snaked your hips, pulling you even closer. protests died on your lips as he kissed you senseless, but of course, the moment is soon interrupted by your phone ringing.
"wait, druig, i need to answer that," druig didn't want to let you go, but he also doesn't want to risk getting you mad, so he reluctantly let you answer.
"hello, tony?"
"i figured it out."
"what?" you were in disbelief. "does it mean…?"
"yes, we're going to try and get them back. meet us at the compound, we need to plan this."
you shuddered, breathing deep. "yeah, okay, i'm on my way."
druig's brows furrowed hearing this. where are you going? you quickly stood up, gathered your things, going to leave but stopped by druig. "what's happening, where are you going?"
"tony found a way to bring them back. i'm sorry, i need to go."
"but,"
"druig," your voice was hard, removing his hold on you. "i'm really sorry, but i have to be there. i need to do this. i'll find you when it's over."
"don't die on me, y/n."
you smiled, kissing him. "i wouldn't dream of it."
needless to say, it went better than expected, especially with tony's help. you chuckled to yourself, remembering natasha's retelling about how scott turned into a baby in one of their failed attempts to time travel. but, of course, the idea of traveling to the past to get the infinity stones to try and reverse what thanos did seemed absurd enough on its own, but then again, your life as an avengers (and the partner of one of the eternals) is bound to get absurd on its own.
after clint came back successful and assignments were handed out for whose team's going to get the stones, you were off. you were going with thor and rocket to asgard while tony's team is going to new york, and nat's and rhodes' are going to morag and vormir.
"see you in a minute," natasha said, smiling at steve.
"be careful, tony," you said, smiling at him as well.
"see you on the flip side, sis."
and so, the teams went to get the stones. your team went with just a minor hitch, but if it helped thor, it's not really a bother. coming back was kind of disorienting, but you were excited…everything would be back the way it was…until it wasn't.
remembering natasha was a quiet affair with the avengers. you flinched when bruce shouted, but clint…he told you about what was said when they went to vormir. your eyes were bloodshot as they argued.
"we need to give her a proper funeral," you said, albeit quietly. "she deserves to be with family."
they all agreed, so you initiated, planning a short but proper funeral for one of your closest friends. druig hung back at the small ceremony, watching you as you cried in your brother's arms. he let you be, knowing you needed the time to grieve.
and, then it was time to bring everyone back. you pat bruce's arm before shielding yourself with your armor, and then he snapped. it was quiet for a while, but then laura was calling clint and then, they're back! everyone's back and yet, you couldn't stop this ominous feeling.
"what the fuck is that?" you asked, eyes wide. you vaguely heard the others shouting before you were trapped as the compound fell and crashed on you. your ears were ringing as you looked at the mess that is the compound and looked for any of the avengers. clint was underneath some rubble beside you so you immediately helped him up.
"we need to find the others." you nodded, helping clint as he gripped the gauntlet. you looked up, seeing nebula. you grinned, calling her but was confused…she seemed weird.
"hey, nebula, mind giving us a hand?" nebula got near you two, reaching for the gauntlet, but you knew better, immediately punching her. "wait, y/n!"
"that's not nebula, i don't know who the fuck you are, but you aren't getting this gauntlet." clint looked at the two of you, clearly confused and a bit concussed.
"just give me the gauntlet."
"never," you powered up your suit, similar to your brothers, and engaged in battle. "clint, you need to get out of here and get to tony."
"okay," you gave him the gauntlet, focusing on the fake nebula in front of you. "be safe, y/n."
you immediately battled 'nebula', focusing on her weak points from what amelia, your AI, told you. you were both interrupted by another nebula and…gamora, from the looks of it.
"y/n, are you alright?"
"nebula! wait, is that really you?"
"yes, you should go to stark, he is currently battling our father, we'll deal with her."
"thank you," you flew, asking amelia where your brother was. when you pinpointed his location, you saw thanos and your brother, steve, and thor. shit. you couldn't risk making it worse so you connected with friday's comms.
"hey, tony. you need any help?"
"y/n! shit, fuck, you need t–," you screamed as thanos used as a shield, his system failing making you fly immediately to his side. you opened his faceplate, asking amelia to scan him and was fortunate enough for just a few bruises.
you watched as steve and thor fought off thanos, as thanos almost killed thor, and as steve wielded mjolnir. you couldn't do anything…not because you didn't want to, but you can't leave your brother.
you helped him up, careful of his bruises as thor was now on the ground. steve fought him more, but thanos got the upper hand, destroying the shield as thanos summoned his army. you were hopeless, arms still around your brother as you both approached thor.
"...on your left," all of you looked at the portals…wait, is everyone…?
you breathed in relief, tears in your eyes as you looked at your family coming through the portals. everyone was back…which means…you flew with your brother, his systems functioning at least, standing besides steve. pepper is donning her own iron suit, a gift tony was reserving for their anniversary. tony looked at you, nodding.
"avengers," steve said, summoning mjolnir. "assemble!"
the fight–no, war, was on. you flew, shooting lasers and helping your brother in battle. you saw cull obsidian punched him, making you retaliate, effectively rendering him unconscious. you saw peter approaching you both as he rambled about what happened. tony was quick to hug him, you second, as he returned the hug.
"okay, we need to go and get the stones away from thanos."
it went forever, you thought, as you fought your way to prevent thanos from getting the stones. but then, he had the gauntlet and all was gone.
"i am inevitable," he snapped his fingers…nothing happened, wait…what? then you saw tony, the stones on his own gauntlet.
but before you could stop him, he looked at thanos. "and i…am iron man."
you all stopped, looking as everyone in thanos' army disintegrated. you were quick to fly beside your brother, seeing the toll it took on his human body when he snapped. you took off your suit and cried, holding your brother as everyone went to you and him. peter was crying beside you as he told tony you won, and pepper…oh, pepper. she sat beside you as you both helped tony sit up.
"hey," pepper's voice was steady but you knew how much this is for her.
"hey, pep," he tried to look at you but you shook your head, telling him it's okay. "hey, y/n."
"F.R.I.D.A.Y.?"
"life functions critical," your hand goes to your mouth, stifling the sobs escaping it. he wasn't gonna make it.
"tony, look at me." you sobbed beside pepper, holding one of his hands. she held his face, smiling as tears fell down her face. "we're gonna be okay, you can rest now."
and with that, the arc reactor lost its light. pepper clutched onto her husband as she cried. you let go of his hand, standing beside peter. you didn't stop crying as everyone kneeled to honor tony. the funeral was quaint, your family grieved as you all watched tony's last message. he was gone.
months passed after everyone was back…and your brother was gone. druig came to your room after the funeral and comforted you. he let you cry on his shoulders as he held you, heart easily breaking for one of his beloved mortals. he offered to take you away from everything but you couldn't just leave. there was many things to do, especially with the company. with tony gone, you needed to step in and help pepper and of course, being iron man, your brother left a lot of duties.
you worked and worked and worked, forcing yourself into exhaustion, hoping it would take your mind off of your brother. druig always tried to persuade you but you didn't get swayed. you couldn't. the least you could do for your brother is to continue is his legacy, and that you did. and because of it, you didn't really have time for your partner, and he wasn't going to let it happen any longer.
"y/n," druig's voice was stern. "you need to rest."
"no, druig. i need to finish these reports. tony wou–,"
"no, y/n! you are one foot away from dying! i won't let that happen!"
"druig, you need to und–,"
"no, you need to understand!" his voice was firm as he gripped your shoulders, trying not to tighten them too much. "you're working yourself to death. your family is worried about you. i'm worried about you!"
"but tony–,"
"tony's gone," druig looked apologetic. "i'm sorry, love, but he's gone. and he wouldn't be happy if you died just after he sacrificed himself for you and for everyone he loved and for the whole world."
you finally let druig hug you, his clothes immediately getting wet as you cried. your hands gripped him, scared. "i'm sorry. ever since tony died, i tried to do everything he did. i couldn't let his legacy just die, he doesn't deserve to be forgotten. as his sister, i needed to take on the role, but i…i can't. tony's gone and iron man's gone, and i miss him so fucking much, druig. it hurts."
he pulled you closer, rubbing circles on your back as he assured you. "i know it hurts. i may not truly understand, but living with you mortals for a thousand years or so, i had my fair share of grieving. and, it's okay to grieve. it's okay. but, you need to remember to take care of yourself. ever since winning against thanos, you didn't stop taking care of everyone, even if it didn't concern you. darling, you take care of everyone but who takes care of you?"
his hands moved to your face, wiping away your tears and resting his forehead against yours. "if you let me, i'd gladly take care of you for all eternity."
"oh, druig." you smiled, crying still. "is this really going to work?"
"i'll make it work, my beautiful, beautiful, y/n." you laughed at his nickname for you. he smiled, seeing you a bit happy was a start. "i love you."
"i love you too, druig."
he kissed you softly, relishing in your beauty as he took your lips in his. you laughed once more as he kissed your forehead, resting his on yours once more.
"let me take care of you, y/n."
you smiled, kissing him once more. "i would be honored, my druig."

He’s on a very important mission ;;; Somebody’s gotta bring Morgan her cheeseburgers, ya know? Please forgive the ugly ass background, I lined and colored the whole thing once and then the file got corrupted so I had to start from the sketch all over again and I justttt kinda wanted to be done. I’m still relatively happy with it though.

it’s been a long, long time | n.r.
natasha x fem!stark reader
summary: after endgame, you and natasha get that dance she promised five years ago
warnings: slight angst w/ fluff, nat doesn’t die because i can’t handle that again
Tumblr media
————
“I’m so sorry Y/n.” Natasha says as you cry into her shoulder, both of you taking a knee as the Avengers pay respect to your father. Her arm is wrapped around you tightly as Pepper cries besides you, one of her hands on your back as you both mourn.
Pepper has always been like a mother figure to you, your father meeting her when you were young.
Natasha wordlessly wipes a few tears from her own cheeks as the battlefield falls into silence, seeing as your shoulders shake with each sob that wracks your body.
————
There isn’t a dry eye at Tony’s funeral, the battle finally being over but at what cost?
Natasha is there by your side the whole time, a supportive hand grasping your own as you say goodbye to your father. "He saw you as family, you know." You whisper as you silently wipe the tears from your cheeks. "Hm?" Nat hums softly as her focus gets drawn back to reality, her hand rubbing small circles on your back as she looks at you. "My father. He always considered you family, even if you were closed off at the beginning.” You say and she nods her head, gently pulling you close and kissing your temple. “And you’re my family, Y/n. Your father was an especially big part of it.” She whispers and you hold her hand, Morgan leaning against your thigh as you three watch Pepper send her husband off. “Can we get a cheeseburger once we’re done?” Morgan asks as she tugs at your dress, a questioning look on her face as she looks up at you. You can’t help but smile at Morgan’s innocence, wanting to protect her from the cruel world for as long as possible. “Of course bug, I’ll even let you get a milkshake.” You squeeze her tiny hand and she smiles, you making a silent promise to take care of Morgan like you promised your father.
After the funeral, Natasha and you silently head back inside, both of you quietly parting ways with a soft kiss. “I’ll meet you back at the house.” Nat whispers and you nod your head, the redhead pulling you into a quick hug as you close your eyes. “You’re so strong, moya lyubov'.” She hums before letting you go, a soft smile on your face as she kisses your temple. You both let go of each other and you head over to Morgan and Pepper, gently picking up your baby sister and kissing her cheek. “You ready to go, bug?” You ask and your sister nods her head, Pepper loving the immediate connection the both of you had when you got restored from the blip. Pepper and Tony had Morgan in the five years that you were gone, raising her like you were apart of her life all along. That’s why when you saw the little girl for the first time, she immediately jumped into your arms, squealing a little “Y/n!” as she clung onto you.
“I’ll drop her back home in an hour, mom.” You say and Pepper nods her head, stepping forward and gently kissing her two daughters foreheads. “I love you guys.” She says and Morgan and you both smile, “We love you too.”
///
“Two burgers and milkshakes for the ladies.” The server smiles as she sets down, you softly thanking her as Morgan immediately digs in. You smile as you eat your fries, sipping on the strawberry milkshake that you ordered for yourself. It’s quiet for a while as you watch Morgan eat her food, both of you still in your black funeral dresses because you couldn’t be bothered to change before you headed to the diner. “Where’s Daddy?” Morgan asks after a while and your heart immediately stops in your chest, your baby sister looking at you as she sips on her milkshake. “Morgan, dad..he’s gone.” You say carefully and she looks at you curiously, kicking her legs a bit. “Well, when is he gonna be back?” She asks and your heart sinks a bit more, you’ve fought aliens and titans but this by far is the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do. “He’s not going to be back for a long, long time Morgan.” You say and she pouts, kicking her legs a bit more as she looks at you. “Listen bug.” You say as you get off your seat and kneel down in front of her, for once being at eye level with your sister. “Dad passed away because he was protecting everyone here on earth. He was protecting uncle Peter, and mom, and all of the other Avengers. But most importantly he was protecting you.” You say as you poke her gently, a smile giggle coming from your sisters lips. “But even if dad isn’t with us right now, he’s always gonna be watching over us. He’s gonna be there on your first day of school and be there when you graduate. Dad is always gonna be with us, you know why?” You ask and Morgan shakes her head, watching as you place your hand on your chest. “Because he will forever live in here.” You say and gently reach out to touch her chest, feeling her heartbeat under your fingertips. “And in here.” You smile at the end of your sentence and so does Morgan, wiping a tear away you didn’t know that had fallen. “Now, why don’t we finish up these burgers and head home?”
////
Once you drop Morgan off with Pepper, you finally head home to Natasha, not seeing it since the battle at Wakanda five years ago.
See, you were one of the victims of the blip, fading away in Natasha’s arms as you tell her to tell your dad that you love him. It was terrifying, seeing the look on your fiancées face as you turned to dust in her arms.
A wave of emotions washes over you as you open the door to the house, smelling the familiar scent of detergent Natasha buys. You walk inside and take off your shoes, closing the door behind you before heading to the living room. The crackly music of the vinyl flows around you as you walk into the open room, the sunlight illuminating everything in a soft orange glow.
“Kiss me once, then kiss me twice, then kiss me once again”
Natasha is still in her outfit from the funeral, eyes immediately meeting yours as you walk into the room. Wordlessly, your bodies are drawn to each other, the redhead still not believing that you’re here after all these years.
“It’s been a long, long time”
Her hand finds your waist as she pulls you close, keeping her gaze trained on you like if she blinked you’d disappear again. Putting your hand on Natasha’s shoulder, you intertwine your free hands together, both of you slowly getting into a sway.
“Haven’t felt like this my dear since I can’t remember when, it’s been a long, long time”
“I thought you were gone forever..” Natasha whispers quietly, voice cracking as she gazes at you. Looking up at her, you pull her closer, resting your forehead on hers as you close your eyes. “I’m right here Natasha. and I’m never leaving you ever again.”
“You’ll never know how many dreams I dream about you.”
Swaying around the living room, Natasha finally cracks a small smile on her face, the house finally feeling warm and complete with you in it.
“Or just how empty they all seem without you..”
Natasha remembers the first night she came home after the blip, jaw clenched and eyes shining with unshed tears. The hallways were quiet and lifeless, bedsheets cold with your lingering scent. Natasha could barely stand to be in the house for a while, a wave of emotions flooding over her as she was surrounded by things that reminded her of you.
Tilting her head in a silent plea, both of your lips meet in the middle. It’s a soft and desperate kiss, filled with all the emotions of those nights alone with only the memory of you. Words can’t express how much Natasha had missed you, the way your lips felt on hers, the way you laughed, how you smiled, hell she even missed the arguments and the late nights where she would worry sick about you coming back from missions. She missed everything about you.
“So, kiss me once. Then kiss me twice. Then kiss me once again.”
Following the song, the kiss continues desperately, your hand finding the back of Natasha’s neck to make the kiss deeper. You never wanted to leave this again. You never wanted to leave her again.
“It’s been a long..long..time..”

Being Tony Starks child would include
pairings: Tony Stark x gn!teen!reader
Imagine: What I imagine it would be like if Tony Stark was your father
Warnings: none
A/N so I did one with Steve and decided to do one with Tony as well, might do some with the rest of the avengers
Tumblr media
I think that at first when he found out that he was going to have a child he panicked
He didn’t want to be like his own father was toward him
At first he said he didn’t want anything to do with you, afraid he would mess up
but when he held you for the first time and looked into your beautiful eyes, he vowed to always protect you
he also vowed to be the best father to ever exist
You would definitely be spoiled
He would always buy you cheeseburgers as they were his favorite and I think Tony Starks kid would love cheeseburgers to
As a baby you would always put your hand to his arc reactor as you liked to blue glow that came from it.
At night if you had a nightmare you would definitely walk into Tony’s room and climb onto the bed and fall asleep cuddled up next to him
If he hadn’t woken up when you came in then he would always smile at you when he woke up the next day and saw you cuddled up to him
He would build more Iron Man suits and better security so that you would be protected when he wasn’t home
and when it was a take your parents to school day he would always show up and bring some cool thing he was recently working up
The rest of your school would be jealous of your cool dad, after all he is a superhero and well he’s rich
Tony would probably not care if you had good grades in school, as long as you tried, he would not care
He would most definitely introduce you to the Avengers
Asking him for help with math questions or science
When Tony couldn’t help you he would go to Bruce as he himself didn’t have the patience to answer your question once again
Tony wanting Natasha to give you fighting lessons
Seeing Peter Parker as your brother
You making Tony officially adopt Peter
Tony would build you an Iron Man suit so that you could protect yourself
Team Iron Man all the way
Staying up late working on project together
Only staying awake by multiple cups of coffe
Both of you would have the same sarcasm which could lead to fights sometimes
Have the same sense of humor
Him hating himself sometimes as he thinks it’s his fault that you have anxiety/panic attacks
Under Infinity War you went to space with him
When Morgan came to the world you promised that you would be the greatest sibling ever
Helping him solve time travels
Never ever getting over Tony’s death in endgame
Giving him a coffee cup where it says “Worlds best dad” on
Him crying over the coffe cup
Overall having the greatest time with each other

❄️Week 1: December 9-15❄️
stars in the city ch. 10 by @parkrstark (Pt. 3 of constant as the stars above)
Summary: Peter and Steve are finally settling into their new life with Tony. Recovery isn't always a straight line, especially with a four-year-old, but they're trying their best. Their newfound fame has Steve juggling between his private life and the one plastered on the front page of every tabloid. He shouldn't have been surprised that the public didn't believe in his rags to riches love story. Tony usually makes it easier for him to handle it all. Until he starts to distance himself from Steve, as if now he's the one hiding something. And Steve is left wondering if he's about to lose Tony for good this time.
Relationships/Tropes: Stony, Irondad, Papa Steve, Homeless Peter Parker, Homeless Steve Rogers, No Powers AU, (Coffee Shop AU??? Sorta)
Review: This fic just always makes my heart ache in the best way. So much fluff, so much angst, it's a perfect balance that I'm just absolutely in love with!
❄️
Devils Roll The Dice ch. 9 by @ephemeralstark
Summary: “I miss you Mr. Stark,” Peter admitted as he stared up through the leaves overhead at the stars that twinkled promisingly at him, “I wish you were back here. I would give anything to fix things, I would give anything for you to be alive today.” What Peter didn't know, as he made that wish and closed his eyes, letting the tears fall shamefully, was that the Universe was always listening, and it was dangerous to make a wish and offer up anything. - Tony Stark wakes up in his bed one morning, not realising that months have passed since his death - that's going to be awkward to explain to the world. Peter Parker has been living on the streets, trying to hide his identity as the entire world wants Spider-Man dead, and dealing with the trauma that Beck left him. To make things worse - it's now his fault that yet another bad guy thinks they're entitled to owning Earth.
Relationships/Tropes: Irondad, Spideychelle, Pepperony, Happy Hogan/May Parker, Homeless Peter Parker, Post-FFH, Post-Identity Reveal, Tony Stark Comes Back To Life
Review: Oh man this fic is so sad and so sweet, I love it so much! I love how it combines Peter's trauma after Mysterio with his reaction to finding out that Tony is alive again, it's just so creative!
❄️
His Heart Bloomed Sunflowers (and he wore them on his skin) by @littlemissagrafina (Pt. 24 of Comfortember 2020)
Summary: Peter honestly didn't know how no one had discovered his tattoos yet. He wasn't broadcasting them but he wasn't exactly being the most subtle either. Although he was partly grateful for it since he was dreading what would happen when May on Tony saw them. But he was pleasantly surprised at the reactions that he got when he was found out. Peter had expected anger, disappointment, maybe annoyance at the very least. What he got was far from that. (A sequel to Comfortember Day 4. Anxiety) Comfortember Day 29. Make/Build/Create Something Beautiful
Relationships/Tropes: Minor Spideychelle, Tattoos, Comfortember
Review: I love this fic so much! I loved the description of how the flowers wilted when the ones he'd drawn had faded, and how the ones he got tattooed never wilted again :']
❄️
I’ll drive all night (to keep them warm) by @littlemissagrafina (Pt. 23 of Comfortember 2020)
Summary: For the next hour they tried to calm Morgan again but, just like the rest of the day with Tony and Pepper, nothing was working. No teething rings, gel, nothing. The little girl was just well and truly grumpy, tired, and sore.
Suddenly an idea came to Peter and he turned to Tony and Pepper.
"Can I try something?"
They both nodded at him, prompting him to continue with his idea.
"Can I take her for a drive?" He asked. "I'm not sure if it'll work but Ben used to do it for me when I was younger and it always calmed me down."
Comfortember day 28. Car Ride
Relationships/Tropes: Irondad, Peter & Morgan, Pepperony, Baby Morgan, Car Rides, Comfortember
Review: This one was so cute! I love Peter being a good big brother to baby Morgan, and I relate to finding trips in the car relaxing and nice :D
❄️
It’s What Brothers Do by @littlemissagrafina (Pt. 22 of Comfortember 2020)
Summary: Morgan was somehow full of even more energy than usual that day and wanted to see if she could do the monkey bars that were attached to the jungle gym herself. Before Peter could stop her, she had already grabbed hold of the first one and let herself swing towards the next one.
But the little girl had misjudged just how heavy swinging your own body weight was and almost immediately started falling. Peter shot forward from his place on the ground, jumping and diving, just managing to catch her before they both hit the grass of the park grounds. Comfortember Day 27. Park

The Burger Debate by @littlemissagrafina (Pt. 21 of Comfortember 2020)
Summary: Tony and Peter shared a lot of similarities, there was no doubt about it. A lot of their mannerisms were the same, personality quirks (especially in the lab), occasional recklessness, selfless hero personas, etc etc. However, one thing they didn't share was their taste in burgers. Whenever the topic came up there was a friendly, yet heated, 'disagreement' as Tony called it. No matter what anyone ever told him, Tony thought that a cheeseburger was the holy grail of burgers. And Peter, well… he happened to think the same only for chicken burgers.
Comfortember Day 26. Junk Food
Relationships/Tropes: Irondad, Peter & Morgan, Pepperony, Infinity War Compliant, Not Endgame Compliant
Review: This was so sweet and so sad, especially the part where Tony couldn't eat burgers while Peter was snapped because it hurt him too much. It showed his grief really well

Relationships/Tropes: Spideychelle, Irondad, Peter Overworks Himself

Peter Luck
Word Count: 2096
Warnings: Dealing with Endgame so spoilers for that
Author Note: Wrote this for my class so hence why there’s not relationship and also why I stayed with what actually happened in Endgame lol
Tumblr media
There isn’t much in this world that Peter Parker feels he deserves. Especially after everything his Peter Luck causes. His parents, Uncle Ben, Tony, people just don’t stay when they’re around Peter for too long. So when Pepper keeps reaching out asking for him to come and get to know his “little sister”, he pushes her away. Morgan is all that is left of Tony Stark and Peter won’t let Peter Luck get to her too.
Peter has only met Morgan once, at the funeral. Her face is an even split of Pepper and Tony. He was also pretty sure she mentioned something about cheeseburgers, which would definitely have made Tony proud. Pepper tried to catch Peter after the ceremony, but Peter had slipped away. The Avengers, Pepper, Morgan, they don’t need his luck.
“Utilizing the help I’ve fallen and can’t get up protocol.” Karen says as he slips into the tower’s window.
 “Not necessary Karen. I’m fine.”
“If you were fine, you wouldn’t be sneaking into the tower at two in the morning.” Pepper’s voice cuts through the air.
“I am fine. I’m not sneaking.” Peter counters her accusations as he grasps at his side. “What-what-what are you doing here?”
“Had a meeting in the city late. Decided to stay at the tower and drive home in the morning.” Bare feet pad across the floor and reach out towards the skin visible from where the wires had cut through his suit. “What happened?”
“Nothing too massive. Just didn’t see something.”
“Cut the crap Peter and tell me what happened.” He had heard her be short with Tony before but not with him.
“I swung into some telephone wires. It’s happened before. I’ll be healed by morning.”
“Well, as long as you’ll be ok.” She looks at him up and down, and he’s glad he still has his mask on so she can’t see how much he doesn’t want to look her in the face. How much he wants to escape so she’s not around his luck. “So you wanna talk about the rest of it?”
“The rest of it?” Peter’s not sure what she means.
“The avoidance. The hiding. The not taking your mask off.” Pepper pauses, drawing a hand through her hair. “Me finding out you were hurt from Karen.”
 “Karen alerted you?”
“Tony set Karen to alert three people if you were hurt and he wasn’t around.” Pepper explains as if this isn’t news to her. “Happy, Rhodey, and…” Pepper trails off.
“But you have your own life to deal with?”
“And you’re a kid. You shouldn’t have to be dealing with saving the world or even just Queens.” Peter hits the release to take his mask off.
“I’m seventeen. I’m almost an adult.”
“Is that why you’re pushing everyone away?”
“I’m not pushing anyone away.” Pepper sees the anger on Peter’s face, but she’s pretty sure it’s from being called out.
“All of the Avengers haven’t seen you since the funeral. You won’t see Morgan, even though she’s dying to meet her big brother-”
 “I’m not her big brother.”
“Saying it doesn’t make it true.”
“Tell yourself that.” Peter crosses his arms and lets a hiss of air out when the skin around his laceration pulls.
“I would, but I was there when Tony and I found out we were pregnant. Tony sat right next to me, promising my stomach that he was going to find a way to bring ‘your big brother Peter’ home. You’re her big brother Peter, you’ve always been her big brother, it’s what Tony wanted. That’s why he did everything, why he perfected time travel, why your picture with him sits in our kitchen just like Morgan’s does. You’re our kid.”
“No I’m just some orphan from Queen’s who’s bad luck is going to get you and your kid killed.” Peter slams his mask back on as he runs out of the apartment.
He shouldn’t have run. Or maybe he shouldn’t have said what he did. That’s just more of a chance to get them killed. But maybe because he voiced it, they’ll actually stay away.
“Peter, we have visitors.” May calls from the living room a few days after the talk Pepper and him had in the tower. To his knowledge, they weren’t expecting someone, but it would be rude not to come out. However, once he sees the familiar strawberry blonde sitting on the couch, he wishes he had ignored May.
“You didn’t say you were coming over?” Peter questions from across the living room.
The five year old spoke before Pepper had a chance too. “You’re being a bad brother.” Morgan’s face shows her anger like Tony’s used to.
“I am?” Morgan nods as if this is something that Peter should already know. “Why’s that?”
“You’ve only been over once and that wasn’t even to play.”
 “I’m sorry?”
 “You should be.”
“Morgan.” Pepper chides from the other side of the couch, but Peter can see the small smile on her face.
“Charlie’s brother came back from being blipped and all they’ve been doing since he got back is playing. Why doesn’t my brother want to play with me?” Peter hadn’t thought about how it would affect Morgan. He was just trying to keep her safe.
“I’ve had school and homework and stuff.”
 “Do you have school today?”
 “No.”
 “Do you have homework?”
“Yeah but it’s not due today.”
“So then can you come play?” Pepper was hoping this plan would work. She had a feeling that once the two of them met, they would be the best of friends. But Peter had been so insistent on staying away, which she would try to talk to him about later. Especially after what he had said the other day.
“I guess I could come play. What do you like to play?” Peter didn’t honestly know that much about Morgan, besides that she was Pepper and Tony’s child. But knowing that, he could assume that she was smart and probably interested in a lot of things.
“Everything!” Morgan throws her arms up like she can’t contain her excitement. “I have a fort and stuffed animals. Barbies and action figures. Craft kits and science experiments.”
“She really does like everything.” Pepper says softly.
“Well I like everything too. I bet we could have tons of fun together.”
“Yay!” Morgan throws herself across the room to hug Peter. He’s surprised to feel the small, warm body. Her hug though, felt entirely like Tony. And in that moment, Peter almost broke. He almost turned around and left the room, pulling himself away from the only piece of Tony left. But there’s something telling him not to. Don’t run.
Morgan refused to go to sleep in her own bed. She was sure that Peter would leave if she went upstairs. So instead, she’s curled up against her big brother, his arm wrapped around her. Each breath she takes moves her small frame ever so slightly and small puffs of air blow against Peter’s chest. At some point, he’ll move her to her room, but not yet. He’s not ready to let go of her either.
“I told you she was dying to meet you.” Peter looks up as Pepper sits down across the way from her kids. True Peter isn’t hers biologically, but ever since Tony brought him into her life, he was hers too.
“She reminds me of an excited Tony.”
“She has a lot of him in her. I see so much of him every day.” Pepper goes quiet for a moment, trying to decide the best way to bring up the conversation that Tony would have already plowed into if he was here. “Can we talk about the other night Peter?”
“I’m fine. I healed by the next morning, just like I said I would.”
“You and I both know that’s not what I was asking about.” Peter pretends to not know what she’s talking about, but Pepper knows he’s not stupid. “Who’s bad luck is going to get you and your kid killed?” Pepper asks, no louder than a whisper as to not wake the little girl asleep in Peter’s arms.
 “Peter Luck.” Peter mumbles.
 “Peter luck?”
“Peter Luck. The luck that if you’re important to Peter Parker you’ll end up dead. It’s my true super power.” Pepper wants nothing more than to pull Peter into her arms and never let go. A seventeen year old should never feel that their superpower is getting their loved ones killed. She may not have the relationship that Tony had with Peter, but she wants to change that. So pushing up from the chair she’s sitting on, Pepper moves to sit next to Peter.
“There is no such thing as Peter Luck that is killing your loved ones. Did life deal you a shitty hand? Possibly. But it’s not you, never you, that causes the people around you to leave.”
“It is though. My parents, Uncle Ben, Tony, they were all close to me and they’re all dead. That’s my fault-”
“But it’s not Peter. You didn’t wield the gun or drive the car. You didn’t force Tony to use the stones. Those were decisions and actions that the universe put into place and it caused a lot of pain, but it was not because of you.” Peter looks up and the tears are shimmering at the edge of his eyes. “You, Peter, are the luck. People are lucky to have you in their life. I’m lucky to have you as my kid and Morgan is lucky to have you as her brother. That’s the Peter Luck, that people are immensely lucky when they get to be a part of your life.”
 “... I’m your kid?”
“I love you just as much as I love Morgan. Pretty sure that means you’re my kid. And I don’t think Tony would have had it any other way. Who are we to go against his wishes?” Pepper wants to wrap her arms around this kid that’s seen too much, but doesn’t want to touch him when she’s not sure if he’s ok with it. But he makes the decision for her, by leaning his head against her shoulder. Her arm wraps around him holding him close. She’s pretty sure a couple of tears slip out and hit her blouse but it’s not the first time one of her kids has cried on her shoulder and won’t be the last most likely. “It’s ok, Peter. Everything is ok.”
 “I miss him, so much.”
“So do I.” Pepper admits, her hand coming up to run through Peter’s curls.
“Why did he have to be the one to save the world?” Peter whispers, trying to keep his tears from turning to sobs and chance waking Morgan. Even as he’s falling apart, he is still worrying about others. Pepper wants to take the burden from him.
“Because he thought it was his responsibility. He wanted to protect those that he loved. You included.”
“Yeah but any of us could have done it.”
“But he wouldn’t have wanted any of you to get hurt.” Pepper continues running her hand through Peter’s curls. “And who would you offer up instead?” That stumps Peter. He doesn’t want to lose someone else. He just wants Tony back.
“We can’t just have Thanos snap himself away?”
“I would love that, but I don’t think he would believe that is perfect harmony.” Peter curls into Pepper’s side, pulling Morgan with him. He knows Pepper is right.
“Screw perfect harmony. Fuck Thanos. I just want Tony here.”
“I’m pretty sure you’re not the only one who feels that way. In fact I’m positive you’re not the only one.” Peter doesn’t say anything but just curls into Pepper a little more. “Morgan asks about Tony at least every other day, if not more. I don’t think she completely understands why he’s gone. And she only had him for a few years.”
“She understands he’s not coming back?”
“Sort of. She understood that people go away, but then there’s people like you, who came back like Tony said you would. So I think part of her thinks that Tony is going to come back too. She’s still a bit too young to completely get it, even with how her mind works.” Peter’s hand comes up to wipe away the stray tear running down his face.
“Well I’ll be here to explain it to her. What else is a big brother for?”
“So much. From couch cushion to explaining how the world works, she got the best one.”

Secret of the Widow
-part six-
Summary: Post Endgame time period. The team is healing, trying to navigate this new normal they’ve found themselves in when Bucky and Sam bring home a stray with an attitude and a secret. Will the broken team take her in? Or is it too much to bare?
Warnings: language, *eventual* violence and smut, death, fluff, angst
Pairings: Bucky x OC
Disclaimer: this is posted to Wattpad as well and it WILL HAVE PLOT. I’m a Bucky hoe so there will be smut and romancy stuff but this is a series, so plot plot plot.
Tumblr media
Forty-five minutes later I walk out of my still steaming bathroom. I wish I could thank Tony for the never ending hot water and place to live, it's a nice change in routine.
I wish I could thank him for a lot of things.
I give myself a little shake. No sappy moments, not right now.
With a lighter step, I throw on some baggy sweatpants and a tank top, leaving my hair to air dry. I'm pretty sure a good first impression was thrown out the window already anyways.
With a final nod in the mirror, I leave the sanctuary of my room and give myself to the wolves.
As I enter the kitchen, the smell of cheeseburgers and salty fries hits me. I'm almost certain I let out a tiny moan, but I'm going to deny it if asked.
"Hey Ali, grab some food and come sit by me sweetie." Wanda yelled from the table, not even glancing at me, unlike the rest of the group.
Banner still seems reserved, like he doesn't know how he's suppose to respond to the news of my existence. Clint on the other hand looks like he has something to talk about, sad curiosity all over his features.
Having not eaten in the last two days, I'm positive I could inhale more of these beautiful beef buns than even Barnes can, who is currently sitting with three burger on his plate and a mountain of fries. Okay well maybe not him, but Wilson for sure. The mans pretty scrawny.
After getting my food, I plop down in the seat between Wanda and Bucky, immediately tearing into my food. Etiquette be damned.
"So where's Petey? He and I have some unfinished business." I'm pretty sure I just heard Barnes try to cover a small chuckle with a cough. I should probably not talk with my mouth full, at least not during my first ever meal with the team.... whoops.
"He's attending MIT, following Tony's footsteps apparently, so he went off somewhere to study his big book of boring." Wilson didn't even bat an eye while answering.
The room settled in silence for a few minutes. It was not a comfortable one at all.
With a loud sigh I set my wonderful, heavenly, beautiful burger down. "Okay. Spit it out. This silence is strangling me and I'm trying to enjoy this God sent meal in peace."
Sam chuckled quietly, wiping his mouth free from the mustard smeared everywhere. "Okay tiny Tony calm down."
That's the second time today I've been compared to Tony. Each time my heart breaks a little. It's nice though, having a part of him so apparent in me that they see it despite meeting me less than five hours ago.
"So you and Stark were close, obviously, Nat is your mom, still weird, and you know Barnes pretty well by the looks of it."
I pop a few fries in my mouth before answering. Mmm fried potatoes doused in salt is a glorious creation. "All of that is very true baby bird."
Barnes hides a smile as Sam glares very unthreateningly across the table at me. My fry hits him right in the nose.
This time Clint joins Bucky in choking down a laugh.
"So how well do you know Barnes here hm? You were eighteen when you met? I wonder-"
Bucky tensed up, jaw ticking away. Wanda just pursed her lips and kept quiet.
I set my hand on his metal arm. "Stand down Sarge, birdys just trying to wind you up." Bucky relaxes, nerves still on edge and eyes throwing daggers at the bird man.
I look to Sam with a raised brow. "I'm a lady Samuel, we don't kiss and tell. Did you have anything productive to ask before you got all pissy?"
He sighed in annoyance, eyes showing slight amusement. "I still want to know how you got those cuffs on us, they have no key or biometric identification. Did you see me enter the code?"
I let out a soft laugh and turned to Wanda. "You should've seen their faces, it was a beautiful sight." With a glance back at Sam I shove another bite of my burger into my mouth, talking around the food. "I worked with Stark for years dude. I have access to, and can override, anything in this building. He gave me full clearance before I could drive."
"But he never let you up here? Even when we were out on a mission?" This time it was Banner who spoke up.
With a small smile I shrugged. "We didn't want to chance me running into any of you, especially after Petey joined. He worked in the lab with me a bit and it made Tony a little wary. Plus Nat worried about Sarge here seeing me."
Buckys head snapped to me, not expecting to be brought into the conversation. "She knew I had no memories though, why would meeting me worry her enough to ban you from the upper levels?"
Our eyes locked for a few seconds before I turned away, glancing at him as I breeze past the question. "Conversation for another time Buck.... so who made dinner? Well complements to the chef Clint, this is some juicy meat."
•••
Dinner continued with light laughter, and small talk. The group introducing themselves and trying to welcome me into the tight knit squad. The atmosphere was kind, but I could see the change caused by the loss of their friends. A year later and the wounds are still barely even scar tissue.
I remember the times I'd be working in the lab and get bored, eventually deciding that the Avengers would be my own little reality show to pass the time. They use to be so care free, at least as much as they could be, laughter filling the halls and pranks pulled on one another. Now it's random bursts of joy until the silence relapses for a bit.
Maybe I can do some good here. At least bring a little more light into the tower, make the darkness fade a little.
Wanda and I decided to have a movie night in the living room while the guys did whatever guys do. She chose some romcom, which we inevitably verbally assaulted as the cheesy plot continued.
"So, Ali, besides Fury is there anyone else in your life?"
"Nah, there's been a few dates, but having to lie about who you are makes things difficult. Although, so does my choice in work and the fact that I'm very rarely interested in anyone enough to put in the effort." I gave her a shrug and just rolled my eyes, keeping the conversation light.
"I'm curious on the team dynamic. Tony and Steve were like the divorced parents that told everyone what to do, is it just a 'go with the flow' situation now?"
Thankfully this made her chuckle. "Apparently this family of ours can't function without parents that hate each other. Bucky and Sam are the exact same way, they've taken the mantle up themselves. But honestly we're still learning our strengths and how we fit without the old pieces."
I gave her a nod, forehead creased while I tried to picture the teams strengths and weaknesses cohesively fitting together.
It wasn't until midnight when we decided to get some sleep, setting plans to go shopping after lunch the next day.
The bed was more comfortable than anything I've ever had the absolute pleasure of laying upon, but I still couldn't pass the hell out.
I just grunted in very extreme annoyance, despite this being a normal occurrence, and rolled out of bed.
After a quick stop to the kitchen to make some tea, I made my way to Tony's lab.
It looked just as it did the last time I was here, seven years ago Thanos time I suppose.
Walking around the large space, knowing that Tony won't be strutting in yelling about his genius breakthrough after his twelfth coffee of the morning, or having him standing over my shoulder as he teaches me the new mechanics of his suit, well it's surreal.
The room doesn't even feel like him anymore. This lab was once a place that brought me a sense of comfort and home, a place where his laugh encompassed the very life of the room, where his sarcasm bounced of the walls in never ending jabs. Now it is just cold and empty. The joy it once held long gone.
I sit in the floor, leaned against his work table. Now realizing that tears are running down my cheeks, a quiet remembrance to a man I cared for like a father.
I don't bother to wipe the tears away, it'd feel like denying him this moment, I just sigh and rest my head against his chair. "Oh Tony, you self sacrificing idiot.. I miss you. So much. I can't believe you left me alone with Nicky, that was just cruel you know. You both did."
With a shiver I set the empty mug beside me, bringing my legs up to curl my arms around.
"Why did you always have to be so hell bent on sacrificing yourself? Everytime this world called, it was always YOU risking it all, YOU flying into a space portal, YOU getting so much hate and blame from the team, even SHIELD, all the time. I just-" a chocked sob surprises me as I realize this is the first time I've talked to him, really talked, in six years.
"You had everything T, a wife, a baby, me and Petey. And they asked you to give it all up, yet this world barely gives you the recognition you deserve. Steve walks out and just leaves, after so much death, so much that needs cleaned up, he makes the most selfish decision i have ever seen, and yet is grieved more than you are. He walked out on his best friend, left the team already broken, and had the audacity to think he was owed that selfishness. A man who gave up everything and asked for nothing in return, overshadowed by the man who had nothing and was handed everything." I let out an angry little chuckle.
"This world is so backwards and cruel. Now I'm left in it alone. What am I suppose to do T? This place, these people, there's no light here anymore. And I just- it's just- it's so hard Tony. My parents are gone and I'm alone and I miss you so much. Being here breaks my heart. Every second I'm within these walls, knowing I'll never hear your laugh, your encouragement or sassy remarks, never walk in to AC/DC blasting while your passed out at your table. Every second I'm here hurts T. I just- I miss you so much dad and I'll never get to tell you how much I love you."
If I hadn't had my eyes closed, or been in the middle of an impressive mental breakdown, I might have heard the footsteps approaching long ago. But my tears brought sleep to me quickly and everything went black.

you stayed inside your room after hearing about how steve’s going to return the stones. you knew what was going to happen. but it still didn’t stop the betrayal you felt when steve didn’t tell you.
you knew you were always going to be the second choice. before with sharon and now, with peggy. when he’s given the chance to go back to a life he once knew, with the woman he first loved, you knew it won’t be long before he decides.
you stared at the framed picture beside your bed, tears streaming down your face as you thought about your life with steve. you thought you would be with him until you die, but fate made its choice. he would spend his whole life with the woman he always loved and you…you will be left to pick up the pieces left of your relationship.
“y/n,” bucky knocked on your door before coming in, immediately pulling you into a hug. because he knew and it didn’t hurt any less when his friend chose what he did. “i’m so sorry.”
“so he did it, he stayed with her.” you said with finality, sobs wracking through your whole body as you looked at bucky. “he didn’t even care enough to tell me, bucky. am i really not enough for him? for anyone?”
“no, y/n.” bucky held your shoulders, looking at your eyes as he told you. “you shouldn’t measure your worth because of people leaving you. we love you. you are enough. it’s steve’s fucking fault if he didn’t see how lucky he was, to just throw everything that he had with you. it’s his fault, not yours.”
you cried in bucky’s arms, the thought of the man you once loved not coming back etched on your mind. but, he chose peggy and lived with him…well, as long as he loved her. you’re just…someone he met and said to have loved, but not enough for him to make him stay.

Parts of Iron Man/the MCU that wouldn’t exist if Robert Downey Jr hadn’t been cast
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(both gifs by @stcny)
I am Iron Man
This wasn’t even a scene in IM1. RDJ just tried it out one take and Marvel liked it so much that they used it. That ending was iconic and the line was used in many times in subsequent movies, including, of course, Endgame.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Cheesburgers
RDJ said that one of the things that helped him start to get his life on track was eating a truly awful Burger King cheeseburger. He wanted that put in the movie in some way. In Endgame, we get the callback when Morgan asks for a cheeseburger and we all get punched in the heart.

I love you 3000
This is one of the most quoted lines from Endgame and it came from the Downey household. Robert and his children say it to each other and he thought it would be a good emotional line to include. He was right, of course.

No trust - Liar
I don’t know about other fans, but I had been waiting for Tony to confront Steve about hm dismantling the Avengers. The scene finally happened in Endgame and it was so cathartic. And apparently all made up by RDJ. The dialogue and acting in that scene was so raw and emotional.

I don’t want to go
I’m not giving Robert credit for Tom’s amazing acting. That’s all him. However, the directors and Tom have said that Robert helped him with the scene.
“It wasn’t as drawn out as this,” Anthony Russo added, before going on to discuss how Downey Jr. was keen to mine the sequence for all it was worth and coached Holland on where the character was at this point and how hopeless he felt. The result was a show-stopping performance from the young actor.
“At the end of the day, he kept driving: put more and more emotion into it, and just went up to Tom and said, ‘You don’t want to go because you’re a child. And you’re using your strength as Spider-Man to fight this. And then that was the performance that came out. It was a pretty spectacular performance for a 21-year-old actor.”
Tom has also said in another interview that one of his tricks to make himself cry is to repeat a phrase over and over. I’m sure that scene would have been emotional regardless, but the line is so heartbreaking because it shows how young Peter is and it shows that Downey understood the emotional weight of the scene.
He basically improvised most of his lines in IM1 and has continued to throw in lines in every movie. Some of them may not have had the impact of others but they’re still funny and/or
The entire after credit scene in the Hulk
“That man is playing Galaga”
Shwarma
Tony eating food in the lab in Avengers
“its not a hug, Im just grabbing the door for ya” (w/ Holland)
“You seem a little defensive”
“The adults are talking”
ect.

Tony’s silence during his death
Lines were written but Robert thought it would be more emotional to have Tony stay silent as he was dying.

Trauma in Iron Man 3
Robert didn’t write the script but he did influence a major part of the movie, Tony’s trauma. RDJ specifically asked that they explore Tony’s trauma in IM3.
“I thought rather than pretending that didn’t happen, let’s bring it into the latest installment.”
He has always advocated for the movies to show Tony being affected by the things that happen.
“One of Robert’s big things is he always wants to be damaged by the things that happen to his character and he wants to show the damage done. There should be a grittiness about showing the cost of the life [Tony] is living.”

Gauntlet Wristwatch
When trying to stop the Winter Soldier, Tony goes up against him with nothing but a single gauntlet made from his watch. That device was thought up by Robert himself. He pitched it to the directors and they let him do it. That fight shows Tony’s willingness to fight without his suit and his clever way to fight the Winter Soldier using his own body weight against him. Its a short scene but its a really cool gadget and an interesting fight.

Tony’s glasses showing vulnerability
Tony uses his glasses to show when he’s vulnerable and when he’s guarded. Let’s be honest, that’s all Robert.
RDJ’s acting talent bringing weight to a superhero role
We love Tony because he’s layered. Because he’s made mistakes. Who else could bring the multidimensional portrayal to the role like Robert has? No one, in my opinion.
How RDJ is as an actor and ‘marvel ambassador’
RDJ talked Chris Evans into taking the role of Captain America and was part of choosing Tom Holland for Spiderman. Everyone says he is a generous acting partner, a great person to have on set, one of the first people to welcome newbies into the Marvel world. These things don’t have specific effects but they matter.
It took so long to find gifs that i kind of lost steam at the end. But my point still stands. Tony Stark is so beloved partly because he is portrayed by the right actor who cares about the role.

He has no idea what’s going on around them nor does he care, not when Peter is staring up at him from under his lashes and sucking on his bottom lip. “C’mon, Pete. From what I’ve heard, I think we’d get on great, and that was before I knew you were so damn gorgeous.”
