My issue with Thor not ‘realizing’ why Loki was acting off in Avengers 1 isn’t that Thor didn’t recognise Loki was acting unlike himself—Thor did note that—or that Thor didn’t figure out what was wrong—he did try asking—it’s more along the lines of Thor giving up, and that he accepted Loki was bad now within two days while knowing something was off when Thor himself behaved just as bad for much longer before without any specific compromising event.
#Thor was happy go kill for so long and Loki waited for Thor to get better and then Thor KNOWS something is up#and he still accepts Loki is evil now and never questions or visits Loki in prison again#he moped around about it because of duty and depression but that he had such little faith in Loki#like either his little brother really did go mad out of jealousy and rage AND is permanently like that with no resolution between them#it’s ridiculous#I like the Thor in my head who never believed Loki had actually gone mad and went after the infinity stones bc he suspected#the one that would not only trust Loki to get them off Asgard in TDW but knew Loki had the throne after and let it be that way#bc he knows his brother and wouldn’t stop believing Loki can ‘get better’ even if he’d truly gone mad#like I get that Thor in Avengers 1 would have been conflicted and could’ve taken everything at face value#Loki was DEAD and now he’s not of course Thor isn’t going to be thinking straight#it’s easy to look at Loki and assume he spent a year plotting revenge after faking his death#but Thor had time after to cool down and only gave Loki a chance in TDW when there was no other option#like did he genuinely think Loki will try to kill him#is Thor scared of Loki now or what#Thor’s spending so much time thinking of what he’s lost that he develops depression but doesn’t ever voice or support the idea that maybe#Loki was forced to do the invasion#AFTER he asks ‘who controls the would-be king’ like come on Thor just ask a follow-up question#Thor autistic king distracted by ‘YOUR father’ discourse fr#T-T#I simply don’t think Thor would have given up on Loki even if Loki stabbed him sorry#it wouldn’t even be bc he’s naive it’d be because he knows and loves his brother#and he’d keep hoping for a change of heart#he wouldn’t ditch the issue unless it was to go under the radar and that’s never explicitly implied#unfortunately#:(

Something New (Loki x GN!Reader)
Summary: You have known each other since you were children on Asgard, you’ve been there through everything… And now you’re stranded on a junk planet with the man you believed to be dead for four years… It was time for a honest chat.
A/N: Set during ‘Thor Ragnarok’, no descriptors or use of ‘Y/N’.

“Silent treatment, is it? How juvenile. And a little boring.”
You fight the urge to roll your eyes, irritation flashing through your features at Loki’s - deliberately - vexing comment. Shaking your head, you stayed looking out the large window of the quarters you and Loki had been forced to share, especially after he had told the Grandmaster you two were married.
“Ah, I see, you’re in the honeymoon phase. Well, we are very progressive here on Sakaar.” The Grandmaster had mused. “We have husbands, wives, consorts, throuples and in-betweens. I can give you a leaflet if you like-“ To which quickly you had held up a hand, shaking your head, overwhelmed by the junk planet you’d ended up on, let alone the intricacies of their… escapades. No, you were much more focused on finding a way off of the planet and to Asgard to stop Hela, and then back to Midgard to live your life in peace.
It had been a few days since Loki and Thor had appeared on Midgard before your eyes, the shock and disbelief you felt still fresh in your mind at the sight of Loki - alive. And finding out he had faked his death for Asgard’s throne… Well, that was just the cherry on top. You forgave him for trying to destroy Jotunheim, you tried to forgive him for attacking New York… Fighting side by side against the Dark Elves had felt right… And then, he was gone. Dead, you thought.
“You seriously think you can go god-knows how long without speaking to me?” Loki inquired, raising a curious brow. “Whether you like it or not, we are in this together.” He nodded to himself. “And I, for one, am not about to let the opportunity to gain the Grandmasters favour, get close and perhaps take his place, slip me by.”
“Oh my god-“ You whirl around, finally facing him as your brows crease. “Are you serious?” You snap, a beat of silence filling the air between you. When you see him furrow his brows in a look that said ‘well, yes’, you couldn’t help but let a tired laugh escape your lips, head falling back slightly as your gaze flickered to the ceiling.
“I fail to see how that is funny-“ Loki huffed, tilting his head faintly.
“No, you’re right-“ You sigh, shaking your head, gaze fixed upon him once more. “It isn’t funny. No, in fact-“ You take a step closer. “It’s hilarious.” Loki blinked, irritation creeping up on him now at your mocking words. “Because, of course, Asgard was simply just… not enough?” You raise a brow. “Having Odin sent to Midgard, his death leading to the unleashing of the Goddess of Death who is now set on ruling Asgard and possibly destroying anyone or anything in her way… Was… not enough.”
Loki averted his eyes, looking down as his jaw twitched, your words hitting him with the harsh reality that his actions had consequences.
“And instead of doing the right thing and wanting to try and leave this hel, you wish to… stay? Ignore that our home is in danger?” Silence fell between you both, giving you the answer you needed as you let out an exasperated breath. “Right, well then.” You muttered, straightening yourself. “You’ve made yourself clear.” You went to move, going to find your own way off of Sakaar, with or without Loki’s help.
“Wait-“ Loki sighed, reaching out to grasp your wrist, stopping your leave. “Just… wait.” He added, tone slightly softer. You looked up to meet his stare, seeing the uncertainty on his features. “I…” He sighed once again. “I’m sorry.” He finally muttered, eyes quickly flickering to the wall before landing back on you. “Alright?” He slowly let go of your wrist. “I didn’t think.”
“No, you’re right, you didn’t.” You grumbled, folding your arms over your chest, your own eyes moving to stare firmly at the wall behind Loki. Loki could see the tension in your frame, the hurt he had caused by faking his death still clinging to you like an old wound. He clasped his hands into fists at his sides briefly, before letting them fall naturally, letting out a slow breath whilst doing so.
“You can’t be too surprised by that.” Loki tried, tone wry. “Whilst my intelligence may be high, it seems my… ability for considering others emotions is somewhat lacking.” You scoffed at that. “‘Always so perceptive about everyone but yourself’.” Loki mumbled to himself, making you glance at him. He let out a breathy, quick laugh as he shook his head lightly, lips pursing. “Yet it seems my perception can be… also lacking when it comes to those closest.” He added quietly.
You stayed silent, unsure on what to say - on what he wanted you to say. Instead, you sighed, unfolding your arms, moving towards a nearby seat as you felt Loki’s eyes watching your every move. “I’m tired, Loki.” You finally spoke, sitting down, elbows on your knees, hands clasped together. “You’re supposed to be my dearest friend, and yet… it feels as though you are intent on creating distance between us.”
Loki raised his chin faintly, before taking close calculated steps towards you, a slightly awkward aura surrounding him. He wasn’t one to be open with such matters as friendship and emotions. But perhaps… it was time he tried. Tentatively, he took a seat beside you, leaving a respectable distance, knowing he had to earn the right to be close to you again.
The truth was, whilst you may have been dear friends once, over the years it had… changed. Ever since Loki discovered the truth about his heritage, maybe even before that. When he chose to lie to you about the Frost Giants entry into Asgard, he had made his choice. He had chosen self-preservation. Something that in his time ruling Asgard, he realised was… hollow. And you never truly were just a dear friend to him. Nor him to you, even if it was unspoken.
“It was truly never my intention to cause you pain.” Loki spoke lowly, side-glancing at you, trying to gauge your every reaction to his words. “Thor… on the other hand.” He added wryly, raising a brow. “I suppose apart of me… wanted him to feel it. So he understood.” It was spoken as if he was processing it in real time. Your gaze drifted to Loki, eyeing his profile as he spoke. “And when you came to Odin… to me…” He corrected before pausing. “And asked to return to Midgard, to live your life among the mortals I once sought to rule…” He let out a quiet breath. “I could do nothing but allow it. Knowing the hurt I had caused, the rift I had created…”
Loki’s words hung in the air, a subtle tension hanging with them as you bit your lower lip lightly, unclasping your hands to sit up straight, keeping them resting on your knees. “Midgard…” You began softly. “The time I spent there after New York, aiding them rebuild their city… It gave me purpose.” You turned your head to look at him properly. “Odin had forbidden me from seeing you in your cell, Thor was with Jane and I…” You sighed. “I just wanted to do something… good.”
Loki listened intently, his expression neutral, if not slightly more tender than his usual look of indifference. He waited for you to continue, not wanting to interrupt. “And then after… thinking you were dead on Svartalfheim…” You shook your head. “I just… couldn’t bear being home.”
Loki felt a pang in his usually guarded heart at those words, his head dipping as he moved a hand to the bridge of his nose. Odin’s words when he sent him away still clung to the corners of his mind.
“You will not see them again, you have done enough damage there.”
In his own way, he thought he was protecting you. Stopping you from being hurt anymore by making you believe he was dead.
“I thought-“ He cleared his throat, lifting his head. “After everything I had done…” He trailed off, not daring to look at you.
“That what?” You blinked, furrowing your brows. “I just… wouldn’t care?” You breathed out, disbelief in your voice. Loki finally then took the risk of glancing at you, seeing the bewildered look on your features. “You think… that after everything, the good and the bad, that I wouldn’t care if you were gone?” Loki stayed quiet, but the look on his face told you all you needed to know. “You’re an idiot.” You huffed, shaking your head, pushing yourself to your feet as Loki blinked at your reaction. “You are… an A-Grade idiot.”
“I see Midgard has also taught you some rather interesting language-“ He quipped wryly, brows furrowing as he stayed seated, a hand moving to a small shrug. You turned round to look at him, hands on your hips.
“Midgard taught me a lot, thank you.” You snapped slightly, letting out a breath as you looked out the window across the room once again. “I could’ve left you to your own designs in New York, let the others handle it, but when Thor told me you were alive, what you were planning, I demanded to go with him.” You looked down at him again, searching his upturned gaze. “When Odin forbid me from seeing you in your cell, sending me to Midgard to clear up your mess, all I could think about was what you were thinking, how you were feeling.” You saw Loki’s brows begin to unknit, a flash of emotion going through his ice blue eyes. “And then when we fought side by side on Svartalfheim, I thought it was a fresh start. Us, fighting side by side…” Your voice wavered faintly, but Loki noticed as he gracefully got to his feet. “To watch you die.” You whispered.
Loki swallowed the lump in his throat, taking a tentative step closer, one hand slightly outstretched, as if he was approaching a startled animal. “To find out, you were alive for four years. Four years, Loki.” Your voice raised slightly, anger surfacing. “And even now, you are plotting and scheming. It never ends, does it?”
Loki’s eyelids fluttered briefly, face lowering to look down at his leather boots as he tried to think of what to say - what you would want him to say. “What can I say? I’m an opportunist.” He finally spoke, words quiet. Usually, those words would’ve been laced with wry humour, but instead they were almost honest sounding. He lifted his face, eyes flickering to your hands on your hips as he took a leap of chance, reaching for one of your hands. He was surprised when you didn’t snatch your hand away, but didn’t let it show.
“You…” He breathed out. “Are… a defender. Just like you always wanted to be.” He spoke softly. “I am… proud…” The words felt slightly foreign on his tongue, such open sentiment. “-of how far you have come.” His words were almost a whisper, as your own gaze threaten to soften. “And I… am still searching.” He gave a brief, solemn smile. “Searching for what I want to be.” He paused. “I do what I do because… it’s what I know how… to do.” His eyes searched yours, as if you had the answer, but knowing that ultimately, it was he who needed to work it out. “I don’t enjoy hurting people. I do it… because I have to, because I’ve had to.”
Your gaze finally softened, shoulders relaxing slightly as you took in his admission. You always knew that the Loki he portrayed to most was a mask, a defence mechanism… Yes, he was mischievous and cunning, but he was also multifaceted. You had seen it yourself. He was capable of so much more than the hollow quest he strived for.
“I know.” You whispered, squeezing his hand lightly. “But going round in circles, it’s never going to give you what you’re searching for. You can’t… discover if you don’t do something new.” You continued lowly, raising a brow. “Maybe, whatever you’re truly searching for isn’t a throne, or to rule or whatever else that falls under that umbrella, but maybe what you’re really looking for is-“
But before you could finish your thought, Loki’s lips had pressed to yours. You froze for a moment, taken back, before feeling yourself relax, his hand gently squeezing yours as his free one came to gently cup your cheek. Closing your eyes, you allowed yourself to melt into the kiss - a kiss you had been waiting centuries for. His kiss was as tender as it was passionate, reverent even. It was a kiss that took your breath away - at the risk of sounding cliche.
After a moment, you broke apart, Loki pulling back to observe your face, eyes flickering over your features in a questioning way, wondering if he had overstepped, if he had done the right thing by… being vulnerable. When your eyes finally reopened, finding his, the look on his face was a mix of nerves and contentment, a strange contradiction… Very Loki.
“What… what was that for?” You breathed out, still slightly in awe at the way your heart was beating in your chest. Loki blinked, raising his brows.
“Well, you… did say that I couldn’t discover if I didn’t try something new…” He said lowly, tone holding a hint of his usual cheekiness that made your lip twitch, threatening to smile.
“And?” You asked quietly, his hand still in yours, his other still cupping your cheek gently.
“And I…” He cleared his throat. “I- uh- think I rather like this… ‘something new’.” His lips quirked up into a faint smirk, eyes glimmering with hope and care, possibly even excitement. “If you like it as well, of course-“ He added, slightly rushed, a little awkward.
“No, yeah- I mean-“ You nodded, clearing your own throat. “Yeah. I like it.”
“Yeah?” Loki raised a brow, voice breathy.
“Yeah.” You smiled softly, once more squeezing his hand in assurance as Loki let his own lips be tugged into a small, almost bashful smile.
“To something new.”

Loki x Reader
Chapter Seventeen: For the Heart
Summary: Loki and (Y/N) get a chance to talk.
Mouse Note: Can I apologize now? We all know what's happening next.
            (Y/N) and Loki walked into Thor’s room as he finished examining his eyepatch.
            “It suits you,” said Loki.
            “Kingly,” said (Y/N).
            “Maybe you’re not so bad after all, Brother,” said Thor.
            “Maybe not,” said Loki with a smile.
            “Thank you,” said Thor, first looking at (Y/N). “You protected my people. I can’t thank you enough.”
            (Y/N) smiled. “I care for them, too. It was the least I could do.”
            “And thank you, Brother,” said Thor, addressing Loki. “If you were here, I might even give you a hug.” He tossed a small object at him.
            Loki caught it. “I’m here.”
            Thor stormed forward and wrapped (Y/N) and Loki into a bear hug before they could protest.

            The crowd of Asgardians parted and bowed as Thor walked through to his throne at the helm of the ship.
            “Your throne,” said Valkyrie.
            Thor sat down.
            “So, King of Asgard,” said Heimdall.
            Thor awkwardly turned around and waved at his people.
            “Where to?” asked Heimdall.
            “I’m not sure,” said Thor. “Any suggestions? Miek, where are you from?”
            “Oh, Miek’s dead,” said Korg. “Yeah, no, I accidentally stepped on him on the bridge. I’ve just felt so guilty, I’ve been carrying him around all day.” Suddenly, Miek raised his head and chittered. “Miek! You’re alive! He’s alive, guys. What was your question again, bro?”
            Thor looked back out at the stars and made his decision. “Earth it is.”

            “So, you’ll be returning to your home,” said Loki to (Y/N) as they walked down the hall to their quarters.
            “Earth? I mean, can it really count as my home after so many years? I got pretty used to Asgard,” said (Y/N).
            “Isn’t the Midgardian saying ‘the home is where the heart is?’ ” said Loki.
            “I don’t think my heart is on Midgard anymore. I had no family or really any friends there. Everything I care about is here,” said (Y/N), absently looking at Loki.
            He paused and gazed at her. “You…care about me?”
            “Maybe you’re not so bad, Loki,” said (Y/N), smiling. “I guess it’s not just your banter that makes you tolerable.”
            “Oh? And what does make me tolerable?” said Loki, taking a step closer.
            “Your bravery. I don’t know what happened to the ass that tried to take over my planet, but you did the honorable thing today.” (Y/N) smiled. “I’m glad you changed. I think you’ve become a better person.”
            “I’ve always been great,” said Loki.
            (Y/N) rolled her eyes, but the smile remained. “And there’s that terrible pride. I thought we were going to have a civil discussion.”
            “The two of us are never civil,” said Loki. He let a smile creep onto his face. “But I suppose that is what is so entertaining about our friendship.”
            “Oh, so I’m still just amusement? How flattering,” teased (Y/N).
            “Well, yes, you are amusing,” said Loki. He shifted almost nervously, and (Y/N) took notice.
            “Loki?” said (Y/N), prompting him. It seemed like he had more to say.
            “I wanted to say thank you,” admitted Loki.
            “Thank you?” repeated (Y/N), confused.
            “For protecting the Asgardians,” he clarified.
            “Oh. Well, of course I helped them. They’re innocents. I couldn’t let Hela hurt them,” said (Y/N).
            “But it’s not just about Hela,” said Loki. (Y/N) paused in confusion and let Loki continue. “It’s about me.”
            “You?” (Y/N) knew he’d been terrible in the past, but lately, Loki had been improving and evolving.
            “Me.” Loki took a deep breath. “When I acted as Odin, you looked after Asgard. You kept the realms in balance.”
            (Y/N) turned red. “I didn’t really do anything, Loki, seriously. I just made sure no one got away with stupid decisions.”
            “(Y/N), I would have run rampant as King,” said Loki. “You were the one who protected the people of Asgard and looked after them. You were my dear Advisor, but you were the Asgardians’ true Queen.”
            “I’m no queen,” said (Y/N), laughing nervously.
            “Yes, you are,” said Loki, reaching out and touching (Y/N)’s wrist. He trailed to her hand. “Thor might have been born to be king, but you were the people’s queen. You still are.” Loki held (Y/N)’s hand lightly. “You are my advisor but their Queen.”
            “A queen,” repeated (Y/N), blushing. “You’re really trying to flatter me.”
            “I am called Silvertongue,” said Loki. He gazed intently at her. “But this is just me being honest. You are an honorable woman. You are sharp and intelligent, and you see through the lies and manipulations of others. You are precisely what a ruler should be.”
            (Y/N) was wondering how much redder she could turn before exploding. “I, uh, wow…That’s a pretty hefty standard.”
            “It is the truth,” said Loki. “You are an incredible woman of power and honor.” He wasn’t sure how to convey how he felt without saying the words that would make or break his heart. He loved (Y/N) too much to risk the heartbreak that would accompany rejection. He feared her opinion of him more than any other’s.
            “Loki…” murmured (Y/N). “You’re incredible, too. You’ve grown from your mistakes. Not many can say the same.” Her hand slipped in his grip to return the hold.
            “I…I have?” said Loki, almost hesitantly.
            “Yes. You make mistakes and stumble, but you’ve been helping others and looking after people,” said (Y/N), smiling. “That’s incredible, Loki. Most people aren’t strong enough to change. You should be proud of yourself.”
            “I wasn’t even aware of it as I did,” said Loki, holding (Y/N)’s hand tighter.
            “Well, that’s how change works. It’s little-by-little,” said (Y/N).
            “Perhaps. But I didn’t change for myself,” said Loki. His green eyes met (Y/N)’s with such intensity and care that it was hard for (Y/N) to not look away nervously.
            “No?” The word was hushed, barely a breath. (Y/N) felt something hanging in the air between her and Loki, and she was afraid to break it.
            “No.” Loki stepped closer, and his free hand reached to brush her cheek. When (Y/N) didn’t move away, he cupped her face with gentle care. “No, (Y/N), my dear Advisor. I changed for you.”
            “Me?”
            “You. You pushed me to be a better person, whether you realized it or not, and somewhere along the line, I began to think of you when making decisions. My change is because of you.” Loki smiled at her. “Thank you, my darling.”
            “Oh, Loki,” said (Y/N), reaching up and covering the hand on her cheek.
            “(Y/N),” murmured Loki.
            He leaned in slightly, and (Y/N)’s eyes fluttered closed.
            Their lips brushed, and their hearts pounded.
            “Aha! (Y/N), Loki, I was looking for you—Oh!”
            (Y/N) and Loki jumped apart as Thor walked down the hall. They avoided eye-contact and cleared their throats uncomfortably as Thor stared at them.
            “Uh…I interrupted something, didn’t I?” said Thor awkwardly.
            “What? No,” (Y/N) laughed nervously.
            “Nonsense,” said Loki, clearing his throat uncomfortably.
            But both person’s heart thumped sadly at having to leave the moment they had created for just them. Just Loki and (Y/N), together.
            Their confession would have to wait for another time.

hey this is a bit of a triggering topic but can you make some hcs for the Nordic gods’s reaction to the reader dying in one of the thirteen rounds? If you can’t it’s okay

Overall Odin really only cares about power, and how well his sons make him look
If Odin cares about you, then you must have done something great, like really great!
Maybe you are married to one of his sons or maybe even married to him but whatever it is if you get him to care, it is a big deal
If you’re a human
Your death won’t have so big of an effect on him, unless you win his trust, if you didn’t win his trust he would smirk and feel relief
If you won his trust and he cares, his mourning for your death will be in silence
He will shut everyone out and snap at people who try to comfort him
He will also hide away from everyone
Odin would then keep you in his memories and admire how admirable you were compared to most humans
He won’t cry but you will always be in the back of his mind and he will think about you
He would wonder why he acted so awful to you
If you’re a god
You best believe he would be pissed, even if he hated you, he’d be pissed, he wants humanity gone and if he was going to root for his enemy then he would, if it got the humans gone, he would cheer you on in silence
If he cared about you, similar to his reaction as a human death, he would shut himself out
There are five stages of grief, his longest stage is denial, he will never turn to acceptance
He will make it a goal to get revenge and kill the one who killed you, even if it was against the rules
If anyone brings up your name after you die, good or bad talk, he will yell at them and demand them to stop

In all fairness Loki may seem like he doesn’t care about death…. And well he doesn’t, unless he trusts you
Ironically, gaining his trust isn’t hard so it’s slightly easy to be one that he cares about, just be kind, and be a god, if you aren’t a god have high talent that only a god would possess
He likes to pick on people that he trusts, and family so while it may seem like a trickster thing, it is, but it’s also a sign of affection so we know he isn’t completely heartless and he DOES care
If you’re a human
Wow, you died?!
He totally didn’t see that coming (not being sarcastic either, he actually didn’t see that coming)
You were so powerful… why… why now? Of course it was a work in his favor with the fights but…. Was it really worth it if he lost someone like you
His “boredom” of watching the fight would be gone, as hard as it would be to admit it, he would be hurt
Not crying, but hurt
“B-but wait that wasn’t supposed to happen! Y/n can’t actually be dead!”
“Since when was y/n a loser?! That’s not fair”
His memory of you would be something he would hold close but try to act tough about
If you’re a god
“Y/n lost to a human? How pitiful!”
He would be a mix of disappointed and angry
He would rage, and break a few things, probably ending up in a fight with a random person
Not a fight for the thirteen rounds but just a fight with someone random
He’s mad at you for dying but hurt that you left, he wouldn’t be sure if he should be more mad or sad
You best believe that his family will have to deal with his anger issues
He doesn’t forgive you for dying, nor does he forgive the one who killed you
Either way, your death takes a toll on him

Heimdall is another one that seems like death doesn’t phase him, well I got news, it DOES phase him! As an announcer/ commentator/ news reporter, your emotions are SUPPOSED to be held back! I can promise you that certain deaths will internally destroy him (and in my opinion it seemed like he felt bad when Adam and Lu Bu’s army died)
Firstly, it is easy to gain his trust, he trusts nearly everyone, no he trusts everyone
If he doesn’t trust you than you must have really done something messed up to him, like REALLY messed up
Secondly, he cares dearly about both humanity and the gods, he doesn’t see you as less than if you’re a human
If you’re a human
If he doesn’t care for you, he will still feel bad and keep it hidden, only because he’s announcing
If he does care about you, you best believe he’s going to let out a tear but try to show no pain, again because he’s announcing

Thor gets attached to people easily, especially if they’re his competition and they hold as much power as him, if not more (we saw how hurt he was about killing Lu Bu)
He is shy and introverted, his sadness will show but he doesn’t like to talk to people so chances are, nobody would hear about him grieving over you
Once he gets attached to you he isn’t affectionate or comforting, he admires from a distance or by fighting with you
Either way, he’s impressed by you and you mean a lot to him
If you’re a human
He would stay quiet about it, it would be clear that he is in pain but nobody would hear from him
If he didn’t like you, he would still show no emotion, but he would remember you
If he cared about you, he’d feel bad of course but he would also celebrate your life and bravery
He may have a few drinks to himself, all in which would be in memory of you

He wouldn’t let your memory go in vein, similar to if you were a human, he would celebrate your life

Thor would still be in pain about your death, hearing your name would get him feeling sad but there would be a huge amount of pride that would come with the sadness
You may have lost but he will always see you as a winner, in his eyes you were the victor
He would talk to you as if you were still alive with him

He is never ashamed of you and is proud to say that he was a part of your existence

We all know Forseti is bias but I also think he had a somewhat soft spot for Chen Gong so he may have a care for humans
Gaining his trust is easy if you’re a god, if he cares about you as a human, great, gaining his trust wasn’t too hard either but it definitely wasn’t easy either
I also want to point out that Forseti is VERY clingy and emotional, also prone to having breakdowns or panic attacks (from what we saw in the flashback scene with Thor) so if he gets attached to you, you are glued to him
If you’re a human
If you were close to Forseti, he would have a breakdown, he’d crumble emotionally
You were one of the only humans who actually stood out to him, you were one of the only, if not the only human to care about him, chances are he loved you, even if it wasn’t romantically it sure was platonically
“Of all humans why y/n?” He’d ask himself
Unlike the others, he wouldn’t be afraid to break down in tears, scream, sob, lose control in public, he will make his pain heard to everyone
Not for sympathy but because he is actually that hurt, he can’t live without you
He doesn’t want you gone, he NEEDS you by his side

What?! You lost?!
He saw you die before his own eyes! You were supposed to live! You were a god! You needed to win!
He felt as if he saw his own life before him escape, like Thor, he probably idolized you, and now he saw one of his idols die
It would take him about five to ten seconds to process that you were dead, after those seconds, he would wail and sob like a child
You were incredible! You were everything! You meant so much to him!
“Y/n did nothing wrong! Y/n was perfect and you killed them!” He would shout as the surviving contestant stepped out of the arena
Your death would forever haunt him, and he would hold a grudge against humanity
Similar to Heimdall, he would have dreams about you coming back and would often show you physical affection in his dreams

Reacting to Animated Marvel Shows 8/?
All right, back to the anime Avengers. All you need to know is: pretty Loki (of course the most important part), weird noses, Avengers meets Sora & co., way too fast redemption arc, and another possible incestuous ship for me whoops. Spoilers for Future Avengers 1x20 (and probably 1x19).
Bruno looks a little early Avengers (2012) Loki and I don’t know anything about his usual character design, but between his eyes and the war paint (I think) on his face, he looks a little mind-controlled. [I knew nothing that happened before ep 19 at this point, and even that I didn’t really retain, but damn I was really close to what’s happening here.]

I hate how the only part of their face animated to move is their mouth. Like Loki begging Thor not to listen to Evil Guy No.1 would be so much more moving (literally) if the rest of his face was allowed to be expressive. Like even if they did the anime pupil vibration it would add so much more emotion.
Loki kiss him to break the mind control (sorry, I’ll try to remember to tag this as thorki, I couldn’t help myself)
Thor please do the whole giving the villain a false sense of security in thinking he’s won by raising your hammer against your brother but at the last second slamming it against Evil Guy’s skull (I’ve already forgotten his name). You’re smart enough for this to be feasible, I believe in you.
I do also like the breaking the mind control through the power of (brotherly) love, too, though
But letting Loki genuinely show remorse and apologize when really you’re not influenced by Evil Guy (because your love for your brother is already too strong, okay I’ll stop) before you smash Evil Guy’s head in is cool too. Loki probably needs to do this for character growth purposes anyway.

“What do you mean Loki hasn’t arrived there yet?” Thor’s worried voice booms out in the small appartement.
This wasn’t good.
Thor’s stomach drops at the thought of something happening to Lilly.
“I mean Hela got a text from Loki saying that it was too late. That was the last we heard form him. Thor, I know your brother can take care of himself, but I am seriously worried.”
“I know mother, I am too.”
Thor takes a deep breath as he tries to think of what to do next. His brow furrows as he wracks his brain for an answer.
“Mother, I have some calls to make. Keep me updated if you hear anything.”
“Of course, Thor. If I hear anything you will be the first, I speak with.”
“Love you.”
“Love you too my son.” And with that she hangs up the phone.
Thor’s cell phone falls to his side as his eyes dance across the room. He needed an idea. He needed to know what was going on. The thought that he should have stayed home with his daughter filled his mind with regret. Was this his fault? Could he have prevented this?
“Thor? Is everything okay?” You ask as you round the corner to the little room you had been given while you stayed with Jessica.
Thor stares at you for a moment not sure what to say. Should he tell you what’s happening? Would you blame him for not being there for Lilly? The demons of his past start to flood his mind with memories of all the people he couldn’t save while he was in the military. His eyes grow dim as he is transported back to that moment when his best friend laid dying in his arms. The scent of gunpowder and dead bodies filled his senses as the feeling of blood dripping over his hands causes him to start to shake.
No.
No. no. no.
He didn’t have time for this. His heart starts to race as his throat starts to close making it hard for him to breathe.
“Thor?” he hears a distant sweet voice call his name and he looks around for the owner but all he could see was the carnage and destruction of war.
“Thor?!” The voice calls again making him reach up and gripping his hair in his hand let out a loud groan of pain.
“Come back to me.” The sweet honeysuckle voice calls to him and a light slowly starts to fill his eyes. “Thor, my love, I’m here. You’re okay. Everything is okay.” She repeats like a mantra until his eyes finally clear and he sees her standing in front of him her eyes filled with worry. “There you are, it’s okay.”
“I’m sorry.” He breathes out the words as he tries to catch his breath.
“It’s okay, My love.” You whisper as you hold him tightly.
“No, it’s not.” Thor gulps down a breath of air as he holds tightly to you.
“Thor,” You start you mind searching for the right words. “Look at me.”
Thor reluctantly pulls away from you, his deep wounded blue eyes meeting your gaze.
“I am here for you. No matter what. Just like you are my rock, I am yours. I cannot begin to understand what you have seen or what you have gone through, but I am here for you. So just take deep breaths and let’s talk about it, okay?” You say softly and he stares at you unsure for a moment before he lets out a heavy sigh and nods. “Okay, sit down.”
You gently move him toward the bed and as he sits down you move to kneel in front of him. Thor takes deep breaths as he tries to calm him racing heart.
“Whatever it is that is wrong, we will get through this. Okay?” You ask and he nods again.
“I’m sorry.”
“You never have to apologize to me. At least not for this. I’m sure there will be things in the future that will require you to apologize for, but this… this isn’t something you can control. I know that.” He smirks and you feel your heart lift a bit. “Now, do you want to talk about it?”
“It’s the same scene over and over again.” He starts his eyes meeting yours.
You knew what he was referring to. It was the night he lost the warriors three. At least that was what he called them. They had known each other since basic training and had grown so close they were family. Losing them the way he had was none of his control, but he blamed himself for it everyday and that thought alone crushed your heart.
“I don’t even know what happened.” He continues his eyes falling to his hands that were wringing themselves in his lap. “One moment I was on the phone with my mother talking about Loki and the next…” He pauses as he snaps his eyes closed. “I thought I was getting better.”
“Thor, you are getting better.” You start as you reach up to gently cup his face. “My love, you have come so far. This part of you, it’s not something that is easy to fix. It takes time.”
Thor’s eyes slowly open as they look up to meet your gaze.
“I thank the gods every single day that I climbed into that taxi that day and met you.” He starts and happy tears start to fill your eyes. “If I hadn’t have met you…”
“But you did.” You interrupt knowing full well where this conversation was headed. Too many times had you heard the words that he would have probably died had he not found something to live for again. “And it was the best thing that ever happened to me, and our daughter. Lilly loves you with every inch of her heart. I could never imagine a life without you in it.”
A sigh of relief passes his lips as tears slowly fall from his eyes. He leans forward wrapping you in his arms as he breathes in your scent. His mind slowly starts to clear as if your scent alone chases away his demons.
“I love you Thor.”
“I love you (Name). Gods how I love you.” He proclaims as he buries his face in your neck.
You hold him tightly for as long as he needs you too. When he finally pulls away, he gives you a kiss on your forehead and clears his throat. He knew what he needed to do now, and the perfect people to call.
“I must make a couple of calls. I need to call in some favors.”
“Okay, is everything alright?” You ask as he starts to scroll through his contacts.
“Don’t worry about this, you have your hands full with Barnes. I can handle this.” He gives you a reassuring smile before he stands up and moves toward the window.
“Okay… I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me.” You reluctantly say as you stand up and giving him a worried glance head back into the kitchen. You knew he was hiding something from you, and you would ask him about it later.
Thor waits until you are gone to hit the call button. He knew keeping this from you was wrong, but if he had mentioned anything about Loki not showing up at his parents with Lilly you would have a breakdown. No, this he could handle. He knew the exact people for this job.  
The ring goes off three or four times before a woman’s voice answers the phone.
“Well now, Thor Odinson, to what do I owe the pleasure of this phone call?” She answers with a playful tone.
“I need your help.” He answers and her playful tone from before disappears in an instant.
“What’s happened?”
“I need you to call the other two and find my daughter.”
“You have a daughter?” The woman asks in disbelief.
“Yes, I’ll explain everything on the way, but I need you all to meet me.”
“Ok, sure, where at?”
“My home.”
“We can do that. When do you wanna meet?”
“Now, we don’t have much time. I lost contact with my brother and he was the last one with her.”
“Alright, we’re on our way. We might even beat you there.”
“If you do, leave no one standing. If they laid a hand on Lilly, I want them to pay.”
“Got it boss, see you soon.” And with that she hung up the phone.
Thor takes a deep breath and grabbing his coat heads for the front door.
“Where are you going?” You ask before he has a chance to walk out.
“You have everything handled here. I’m going to go back and make sure Lilly is safe. She needs me.” He answers half truthfully.
“Okay, give her my love and call me when you get to her so I can see her.” You ask making him nod.
“Of course, my love.” Thor replies as he leans in and gives you a passionate kiss that sends worry running through your body.
When he pulls away, he looks behind you and says, “Finish this quickly, and promise me you’ll watch over her.”
“I will, take care of Lilly.” Bucky replies making you turn to look back and forth between the two men.
Something wasn’t right.
“I must go, I love you.” Thor says stealing one last kiss before he walks out the door not giving you a chance to speak.
“What… what’s going on?”

Surprise Pregnancy - Marvel
Summary: Head cannons for how the MCU boys would react to an unplanned pregnancy.

Steve Rogers
Okay lets be honest I think that man wears a condom AND pulls out bc he will take NO RISKS.
Until after you’re married, of course.
Then its a sometimes condom sometimes morning after pill type beat.
Its not that he doesn’t want a kid, he just wants to wait until someone isn’t trying to kill him every day.
Steve, who usually has pink cheeks and relaxed eyes, went cold and clammy when you mentioned a late period.
Home tests weren’t really around for him, so he’s used to hearing about cycles and the science of that.
Man gets out a full calendar to get to the bottom of this.
“Okay so if you got your last one here, and then the next one here, your cycle will last about 29 days. Meaning you should have gotten it here but its now two weeks past that point-“
He probably has one of the girls take you to the doctor to get a test.
But he is happy asf when he gets your call.
honestly Steve is from a generation where they gave a kid a Marlboro and called it childcare.
Within 9 months he has tried to give you: Coffee, deli meat, the cheese you can’t eat, sushi, any type of soda to ever walk this fucking planet (plus Thor trying to give you soda from those bougie planets) 
He will not buy a book. Don’t even try to ask him.
Although the apartment is small, its much better than the tower.
Steve is waiting outside during delivery. Support from the hall!

You two are only starting your first year of university, still living in separate dorms.
Your period is like three weeks late.
You’re hoping its just stress.

So you do what any person in denial would do, you go to the campus clinic for an antibiotic or antiviral.

Not sure what to do, you avoid your boyfriend for a whole week.

You switch to an online program, spending more time at home.

Because although she’d never been pregnant herself, she could take care of you.
Peter really did come over every weekend.

The last person you expected to see when you entered Thor’s room on Sakaar with the intentions of saving him was your boyfriend, Bruce. He had been lost for so long, you had let your heart let go of him. But there he was, stood with a cloth wrapped around his waist after having turned back from the Hulk.
You were tempted to walk back out. This wasn’t exactly how you wanted Bruce to see you - an alien gun in hand and blood splattered over your face and clothes. But it was too late, he was already looking at you with wide eyes.
“(Y/N),” he said, turning to approach you but stopping halfway. You weren’t sure if he had stopped because of the blood or because he was still technically naked. “What are you...what did you...?”

BUCKY BARNES/THE WINTER SOLDIER:
You walked in after a surprise run in with the Flag Smashers. Bucky already looked about ready to kill someone, but when you walked through the door of Zemo’s apartment, blood covering your face and your gun clutched tightly in your hand, his face turned red with anger.
“What the hell happened to you?” Sam asked.
“Flag Smashers,” you breathed in response.
“I’m gonna fucking kill them,” Bucky hissed, abandoning his drink on the counter and making his way to the door.
You put a hand up to stop him. “I think that ship has sailed. This isn’t all my blood.”
Bucky cupped your face in his hands, his face softening as he looked at you. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” you insisted. “I just need a shower, and maybe a visit to a hospital or something. They hit me pretty hard, I think I have some bruised ribs or something.”
He kissed your forehead and took your gun from your still shaking hands. Once it was safely put aside, he brought you into the bathroom to help you bathe and to start dressing your wounds.

CLINT BARTON/HAWEYE:
You were extremely lucky that Clint worked with someone like Natasha regularly, or else he would’ve been much more concerned when you arrived home from work covered in blood and still carrying you gun. He barley looked up from the TV as you walked through the door, immediately racing for your bedroom so you could shower and change.
“Hard day at work?” he called as you passed by.
“That last target they sent me after put up a hell of a fight,” you responded. “By the time I finally got him, I realized how late it was and rushed home immediately. I’m glad S.H.I.E.L.D issues those SUVs with the tinted windows or else I definitely would’ve been pulled over for suspicious activity.”
Clint chuckled and rose from his seat. He walked into your shared bedroom as you were pulling off you bloodstained clothes and throwing them into a pile to be tossed out eventually. His eyes raked over your body as you looked up at him.
“Red looks good on you,” he said, a teasing smirk pulling at his lips.
“That’s gross,” you teased. “You’re gross. Just for that, you can’t shower with me.”
He groaned as you walked into the bathroom and locked the door before he could follow you in.

LOKI:
The sly smirk on Loki’s face was enough to almost rid you of the annoyance you felt after what you just had to do. Almost.
You walked up to the panel that controlled his glass cage. You could’ve easily figured out how to deal with it, but instead you shot the control panel. Sparks flew from it before Loki’s prison sprung open.
“Seems like a bit of overkill,” he commented.
“Shut it,” you hissed. “You told me it was going to be easy to break you out. You failed to mention the entire team of guards that were watching this room, and, oh yeah, the team of super humans that were assembled to face you?!”
Loki walked free of his cage, taking a dramatic deep breath before smiling to himself. “Well, doesn’t seem like you had an issue with them, as I knew you wouldn’t.”
He approached you, arms out as if he were going to hug you and try to kiss you. You poked his stomach with the barrel of your gun, glaring up at him.
“Come one step closer and we see how much damage a mortal weapon can do to a God.”
Loki put his hands on your shoulders, keeping you a fair distance away to heed your warning. “I’m sorry for not giving you a proper warning. Thank you for freeing me, I do appreciate it.”
You allowed yourself to relax against his touch and smiled a little. “You’re welcome.”
“Now, let’s get out of here, shall we?”
“You’re doing all the work this time.”

NATASHA ROMANOFF/BLACK WIDOW:
It probably wasn’t a good idea, but you didn’t know where else to go. Natasha had always warned you about the Red Room, and you were so stupid to not listen to her.
Now you were stood on her doorstep, covered in blood that wasn’t yours, your gun dangling from your hand as you wished to drop it but also too scared to let it go. It was what Natasha looked at first when she opened the door - the gun, then to your blood covered face.
“Put the gun down,” she said, her voice calmer than you expected.
You gratefully allowed her to take it from your hand as you felt tears starting to well in your eyes. She pulled you in for a hug, where you started to sob on her shoulder. She took a quick look around to make sure you weren’t followed before bringing you into her house.
“Go get cleaned up,” she told you. “We’ll figure out your next step together.”

STEVE ROGERS/CAPTAIN AMERICA:
You showed up to Sam’s shortly after Steve had brought Natasha. You could barley keep yourself up, the fight had taken everything out of you. You were sure Sam was going to turn you away - you were a stranger showing up on his doorstep covered in blood with a gun in your hand. You were pleasantly shocked when he stepped aside and told you where to find Steve.
Poor Steve. He was already trying to help Natasha, who had been in the same situation as you just with a lot less blood. She was resting when you walked in, dazed and just wanting to also rest.
He was up in seconds, reaching out to wrap you in his arms despite the blood covering you.
“The Winter Soldier is one mean fucker,” you breathed, resting your head against Steve’s chest. “I think he finally got wore out and ran off. Unfortunately, I was wore out about an hour before he was, but I kept going.”
“You should’ve given up long ago, honey,” he said.
“I’m not a pussy,” you said with a slight laugh. “Although I am starting to succumb to the pain.”
He picked you up into his arms and carried you to the bathroom where he helped you to rinse the blood off of your body so you could finally rest.

THOR:
It was a side of you that Thor had never seen before. He had lost you during the battle in Sokovia and was expecting the worst when he couldn’t get you over the coms. When you showed back up to jet, blood covering your tired looking face, he was overjoyed to see you were alright, but also a little shocked by your appearance.
“Those fuckers really thought they had me,” you said, a half laugh bubbling on your lips. “They were a little shocked when I got the upper hand on them. Even more shocked when I shot them dead.”
“I was worried for you, (Y/N),” Thor said, cupping your face in his hands as he approached you. “I truly thought they had taken you from me.”
You smirked up at him. “You really have no faith in me at all them, do you? Or you just underestimate me. I’m a little offended on both accounts, though.”
Thor smiled back at you. “Of course, I would never doubt you. Just a bit of fear is all.”
“When you two are done being gross,” came Tony’s voice from inside the jet, “we’d like to get back to the tower. I think (Y/N) needs a shower and a fresh change of clothes more than anything.”

TONY STARK/IRON MAN:
“Miss (Y/L/N) incoming Mr. Stark.”
“Tell her to come back at another time, J.A.R.V.I.S, I’m busy right now.”
“I don’t think it can wait, sir.”
Tony looked up to see you walking through the door to his lab, your body trembling as you clutched the gun tightly in your hand. There was a splatter of blood over your shirt and some on your face. You looked up at him, looking like a helpless child.
He quickly walked over to you, his hand automatically reaching for the gun. You gladly let him take it, feeling like a weight had been lifted the moment the weapon was out of your hands.
“What happened?” he asked.
“I-I was attacked at-at home,” you stuttered. “I don’t know how they got in, I don’t know who they were. I walked into my house and was blindsided by these two men trying to attack me. I got the gun out of the hands of one of them and I...I...”
Your hands moved to mimic the action of shooting your attackers, but you couldn’t actually bring yourself to say you had done it. You didn’t want to admit to having shot anyone, even if it was in self defense.
Tony placed the gun aside and took you into his arms. You stopped fighting against the lump that had formed in your throat and began to sob into his chest. He ran a hand through your hair, calming you down.
“It’s okay,” he said, soothingly. “It’s alright. I got you now. I won’t let anyone else try to hurt you.”

WANDA MAXIMOFF/SCARLETT WITCH:
You didn’t think of Tommy and Billy. You didn’t think about the perfect neighborhood Wanda had created. You didn’t even think about Vision, or the version of Vision she had created. Your only thoughts were getting to Wanda before Hayward and his people could.
She was horrified when she opened the door. Of course she was; you were stood at her doorstep, a ghost from the life she wanted to forget, holding a gun with blood splattered on your face.
“You have to get out of here,” you said before she could speak. “You have to break down that boarder and you need to get out of here now.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, her voice still in its sitcom mode. “Please leave before I call the police.”
You grabbed hold of her shoulders before she could walk away, startling her.
“Wanda, you have to listen to me. You know what’s happening here because you are controlling it all. I know that, everyone outside the Hex knows that. Including the S.W.O.R.D director Hayward, who is trying to break through your barrier right now to kill you. I know you don’t want to lose this perfect life you’ve made, but your are in real danger. You need to get out of here.”
It seemed like she was understanding. A hurt look passed over her face as she turned to look into the house where her perfect family was likely residing. She took a deep breath and turned back to you.
“Let’s go.”

Graveyard
Flufftober 11 - Loki x Reader

        "I don't understand why you are doing this. This place is... gloomy."
There was no graveyard on Asgard. The dead were placed on boats, drifting away into nothingness, and their souls then ascended to the Vahlalla if they were worthy of it.
No need to keep the bodies.
In ancient times, some soldiers had rested under the palace, but the practice soon seemed unnecessary and impractical. There were too many good soldiers, and not enough room.
They would all meet up afterwards anyway. Visiting mummies and skeletons... it was weird. And dangerous, corpses could bring disease. Not to mention the smell.
At least the Midgardians put theirs in a box and then underground. It was healthier.
But still very weird.
           "If you want to come see your loved ones, you know you'll find them here." Y/N explained, taking his hand, holding the flowers in the other.
           "But they're not there. I mean, their leftovers yes. But they are not there. You can pray from anywhere you want, talk to them from your room, they'll hear you, know you're thinking of them, will be happy, and after your death, you will join them. Unless one of you hasn't led a good life of course, but either way, this place is dismal."
Not paying attention to what he was saying, Y/ continued to walk through the graves to reach her grandfather's. She cleaned it up, removing the dirt, sand and leaves, before throwing away the withered flowers to replace them with the ones she had brought.
           "Hello grandpa. Loki, say hello."
           "... Hello."
           "Grandpa, this is Loki. My... lover. He doesn't like boyfriend. He's very nice to me, even though he's terribly stubborn and thinks he knows everything better than everyone else."
           "... That's me."
           "I'm good. Much better than last time. I hope you're doing well too. I miss you… I'm still sorry I didn't say goodbye to you when I had the chance. I hesitated to hug you and… I didn't know this was the last time I would see you. "
Maybe Loki was stubborn, but he knew when to shut up. Gently, he put his arm around Y/N's shoulder to pull you towards him and comfort her in silence, leaving her to cry as much as she needed.
He remembered Thor praying in his prison for their father. He hadn't prayed for him. He had thought about Odin a lot, but he hadn't spoken to him directly.
And his mother... He hadn't prayed for Frigga either. He hadn't been there when she died, nor at her ceremony. According to his brother, it had been very beautiful, and she had gone up to Valhalla.
Where he wouldn't go. Not after everything he had done. He would never see her again, as he would not see his brother after his death, nor his dear Y/N. She was not a warrior, but she deserved to go to Heaven.
At least he would find their older sister, in her kingdom.
Y/N calmed down a bit, starting to talk again, trying to smile, recounting what had happened in her life since her last visit, and how Loki was helping her a lot. She would have liked her grandfather to meet him, she was sure he would have appreciated him. He wasn't so sure, but he would have done anything to prove to the old man that he was worthy of her. Well, he was not, but he was trying to be.
Looking around, Loki saw other people talking to graves. Others were near a tree. He didn't understand why. The old tree was not Yggdrasil. Y/N followed his gaze.
           "This is one of the places where you can scatter the ashes." she explained.
           "The ashes ?"
           "Some people don't want to be buried. My grandmother for example. She didn't want her children to come to a cemetery to cry, she found it too sad. She didn't want them to have a place to find her at all. So she's in the ocean with her husband now."
           "... Isn't that her husband here ?"
           "No, he's my other grandfather. Of course the family still meet once a year near the sea, to remember. But they try to make the event happy, eat in a restaurant, they celebrate other events, birthdays... The goal is to be together."
           "I think I understand."
There was only one  'religion' on Asgard. They all knew what happened after death.
The Misgardians didn't know, they weren't sure. He was not sure either. Loki couldn't say if they were going to Valhalla. Maybe not.
So, since they couldn't know if they would meet again afterwards, they wanted to at least meet before. All together. The living and the dead.
Of course Y/N often thought of the dead without going to a graveyard, but she had come with Loki. To share. Then they would go to the sea together. She would tell him about her grandmother and her other grandfather, while admiring the sunset behind the waves.
           "I..."
           "Yes ?"
           "I don't really have a specific place to go." he mumbled. "But I would like you to meet my parents. Odin loved Norway. He died there. I'm not saying we have to travel to…"
           "I'll love to." Y/N said, kissing him on the cheek.
           "I'll ask Thor if he wants to come. I don't think they would be happy if he didn't come. I don't know if they'll be happy to see me, or for me to pray for them. I never... I did not honour them."
           "You avenged your mother's death, then you saved your brother and your people. You know you honoured them, in your own way. I'm sure they know it too and are proud of you."
Loki smiled. He said an Asgardian prayer for Y/N's grandfather, bowing down to the grave promising to make her happy. Then they prepared their trip to Norway. Thor joined them, they bought flowers together. Their mother had always loved flowers.
And when he would be gone, since he didn't know if they would meet again afterwards, Loki would ask to be buried with Y/N. So at least, whatever happened, they would be together.

Hey! This is a bizarre ask but hopefully a welcome one after *gestures at the destruction and fire*. I’m completely new to the Loki/thorki fandom, having essentially come in via the exit door by watching the Loki tv series first. I was honestly just watching it for junk value to have something in the background while I knit. However, when I realized that I didn’t understand anything by the middle of Ep. 1, I went back to watch Thor 1 so I could get what was going on. And HOLY SHIT I was utterly captivated by Loki’s character in the original movie, as well as by the Loki-Thor and Odin family dynamics. I’ve now watched through the films and have been increasingly disappointed by the portrayal of Loki (since Avengers 1 frankly) save a few glimmers of good characterization here and there.
I can’t believe that I’m getting myself into another queer coded (and now more than coded wtf) “villain” with a tragic backstory who’s done dirty by the fandom at large, but here we are! I’m also super into thorki because goddamn… they sure do have a Dynamic™.
So I guess my question is, what is actually good here? I feel like I’ve been trying to fight my way back to Kenneth Branagh!Loki, and have been largely unsuccessful within canon content. Do you have suggestions for a newcomer re: fics, fanart, and meta that actually treats Loki seriously? (and thorki as well?)

And this isn't a bizarre ask at all. It was really nice to receive actually! And yeah! I'm so glad you went back and watched the originals. The TV Show character is a completely new character played by the same actor who has nothing in common with the original character (who yes is absolutely fascinating and captivating and multilayered). Honestly I just think of the tv character as Larry, Loki's dumb lookalike cousin bc they have nothing in common lol. So glad the show led to you discovering good content...and thorki. And yeah Thor 2011 is amazing! It's so underrated. If you want meta relating to that and also just gushing about the film you can def check out my Thor 2011 tag.

Summary: At Thor’s coronation you meet an interesting prince who happens to know what you are going through.

A/n: So I wrote this because I really needed Loki to comfort me through coming out to my parents where I said I was non binary and they were less than supportive so this is hella self indulgent. Also sorry if your preferred name is Alexis I just chose a name at random. Gif not my own.

Asgard was a truly extraordinary place. The huge palace was just beautiful. Of course, you came from another truly extravagant place as well. It was the royal coronation of Thor Odinson. You heard tales of the soon-to-be king and found him to be boarish, and a huge oaf. He had no sense to rule.
Your mother was pestering you, and saying that you would make a great wife for him. Of course, although you had told her many many times you didn’t wish to be referred to as a female she still did. Her logic is that if you wanted to be male she would support your transition but she couldn’t get behind all of this nonconforming bullshit.
So when anytime she saw a handsome eligible young man who just happened to be single she immediately thinks that you have to marry him.
If you thought your mother was bad your father was even worse. He just stopped talking to you. He only talked to you when you would try and introduce yourself to new people as your preferred name Y/n. He would correct you anytime and say your name was Alexis. You had just given up talking to new people.
You and your father used to be on great terms saying one day that you would take over his rule but now he had been getting close with one of the knights that guarded you. So you figured he was grooming someone to take over for him. He also had been trying to marry you off, and this coronation was just the perfect event.
When you were younger he had always planned to have you marry Prince Thor. He needed Asgard to help protect his kingdom. You had always had a strong dislike to Thor. You had never met the man but you had no interest in the way that he seemed to always find himself in a fight. If it weren’t for his cunning younger brother Loki he probably would’ve died. You never understood why Odin chose Thor over Loki. If you looked at it logically Loki was the obvious choice. He had the skills to rule. Thor was always looking for a fight and besides that, he seemed to be in love with a midguardian girl.
"Hello," a voice startled you out of your thoughts. You turned to see the raven-haired man. He was devilishly handsome. His green eyes were beautiful. His eyes seemed to shift from sea green to a lighter blue. They mainly stayed green but every once in a while they shifted to blue. He looked familiar.
The man cleared his throat bringing you back to reality for the second time tonight. "Oh, the Norns I am so sorry. I guess I was just off in my own world," feeling your cheeks heat up immediately.
"It's alright m'lady." You cringed feeling physically repulsed by the use of lady. Of course, there is no proper way to address you. "I'm sorry did I do something to offend you, m'lady?"
Again the use of m'lady. It clicked into place why he looked familiar he was the second born Prince Loki. "No, I am sorry my prince you did nothing wrong," You curtsied.
After finishing your curtsy the prince spoke. "Please, please just Loki."
"Oh ok."
"Aren't you going to tell me your name?"
"Oh right where are my manners." Your brain was going a mile a minute what were you suppose to say did you introduce yourself as Y/n. No, your father would scold you for that. "It's Alexis," trying your best not to cringe at the use of that name but Loki seemed to catch on.
"If I am may? I would say you don't like that name very much and perhaps you would prefer to go by a different name. I would not judge myself I am genderfluid and go by different pronouns depending on the day. Normally though I go by he/they." He was so easy to talk to. You ended up telling him your preferred name and pronouns. He seemed disgusted when you told him about how your parents took the news.
"I swear some people are still stuck in the 1500s. Wait right here my darling for one second."
He held his hands in the spot where you were standing. "Loki. My prince do not fret over it. Besides they will never change their minds."
"I cannot let this stand at least not while you are on Asgardian land."
"Loki I appreciate but it will just get me in more trouble with my parents. I shouldn't even be talking with you. If my parents found out. Let's just say I fear what would happen. I must find Thor I am supposed to be getting him to like me anyway."
"Wait Y/n what if. What if I don't want you to. What if I wanted to court you. I don't hate your company and besides, you are very beautiful and would make a wonderful royal of Asgard."
Blood rushed to your cheeks at the compliment. "Well, I don't know if my parents would appreciate me marrying a secondborn. Not to lie it is your choice and not that I wouldn't love to but I am assured that they would strike down the proposition almost immediately claiming if Asgard wanted me as some low-level royal they will just marry me off somewhere else. I do wish to be courted by you just from our very small interaction you seem like a genuine person besides your title Loki. Prince of Asgard, God of mischief, lies, and tricks. I have always found you incredibly stunning and cunning. You have always managed to keep your brother out of trouble."
"My dear I do not care what your parents say I can convince them. You forget I have what some would call a silver tongue allowing for me to convince even the most set in stone people. I will not ask without your permission I do not believe that one should not have a choice in who they court."
"Prince Loki you don't have to do this. You could choose any woman that isn't troubled, to court. Why me?"
"Y/n you are the most beautiful person in this room. If I am being honest I have been watching you for a while. While you were standing in this corner by yourself ignoring the men who fell to your knees begging for a dance. I understood the look upon your face one of utter turmoil. While yes I could have any lady or gentleman in this room I choose you. I choose this wonderful intriguing person because Royal Y/n I am smitten."
"There is that silver tongue you talked of," you laughed quietly which lead to Loki's own laugh. That sound on its own is intoxicating. You wished to bask in his warmth every day. Then you heard a shout from across the room.
"Alexis come here I would like to introduce you to someone,"
"I'm sorry to leave you so suddenly Prince Loki but my mother calls."
"Wait why don't I come with you? Give you some backup?"
"If that is what you wish my prince."
Slowly you beginning numbing yourself to the dread you were about to feel overtake you as you follow the direction you heard your mother's come from.
"Ah, Alexis I would like you to meet Prince Thor."
In front of you stood a tall strongly built man. Much different than the brother that stood behind you. His eyes were blue and his hair was long. and blonde. Everything about this gentleman screamed dominance, and power in a more direct way, unlike Loki his power, and dominance was asserted more subtly. His was like a tiger waiting in the bushes for its prey. Thors was brute like a rhino. Brash, and not very smart but yet still effective.
"How do you do, Prince Thor?" you curtsied much like you did when you had met Loki. The blonde prince waved you off more interested in the fact that his brother was behind you.
"I see you found yourself a young lady," you cringe once again as Thor speaks as if you and your mother were not there.
"Well I will leave you two to get acquainted," your mother said as she bowed out. Before she left though she tugged you closer to her speaking directly in your ear. "Do not mess this up this is very important to your father, and our kingdom," and with that, she left.
Tuning back into the conversation between the two brothers. "Y/n is not a lady she does not like the name Alexis. They are much like myself brother preferring not to be confined to the binary such as male and female. Living outside of the binary code. You understand and respect that, right brother?" Loki's voice had an edge to it you hadn't heard in the very short time of knowing him.
"Yes, sibling I understand I will apologize for the incorrect use, and maybe then you can go ask father that burning question you have about courting them. If not then I will ask for you because you two seem perfect for each other. If I am also to believe what their mother said then they are being used as a way to gain protection so as long as Asgard guarantees the protection of their kingdom which I will grant you may court them. But brother I do beg you tell father yourself I do think he should of know this.”
“Brother you don’t understand is that father-"
"Father the should be the least of your worries. You have found someone you connect with. Someone who can and will understand you. Why not take the risk?"
With that, for the first time ever Loki was dumbstruck by his brother. He knew that Thor supported him unconditionally now with this new revelation he was able to get the courage to ask his father for what he wanted, and what he wanted was you. Loki walked up to his father and yours with you trailing beside him. He could feel the nerves rolling off of you in waves. He was nervous but you seemed more so. Before he reached the men he turned to you, stopping you.
"Love, are you sure this is what you want?"
"Loki you make me happier than I have been in a long time you understand me, you care for me, I don't understand why you want me but I am grateful for it. So yes, yes I am sure this is what I want," you confessed honestly.
He just looked at you and nodded before making the rest of the way to the men. Reaching them he began, "King Y/l/n I would like to ask your permission to court Royal Y/n Y/l/n."
Your father scoffed, "I'm sorry who I know of no one by that name if you mean my DAUGHTER Alexis then maybe we can talk but I know of no one by the name Y/n."
You knew this was going to happen so why did you even try. You turned to Loki and began pleading with him to drop it and just use your birth-given name but Loki didn't relent.
"No I mean your child Y/n because, unlike your kingdom, in Asgard, we respect people's names and pronouns so while you are on Asgardian soil you will respect this person's name. So I ask again can I court Y/n Y/l/n?"
"You have no right to speak to me like that. I am King Y/l/n of Muspelheim you will respect me," your father scolded.
"I may not have the right, but your kingdom is in dire need of protection from Asgard. Am I wrong?" Loki questioned your father gave an indifferent nod, so Loki began again, "I am offering you protection for your kingdom all I ask in return is your permission to court Y/n, and that you respect their pronouns, and name. Is that so hard for you? Considering most of your people are being killed from the lack of protection they're given I would take this offer it's an olive branch."
Your dad huffed and puffed out his chest then just nodded and agreed. He turned to you gave you a death glare, and as he was walking by you he said, "You've served your purpose but you will never inherit the throne you will only ever be the second borns play toy."
Loki had heard what your father said, and as he was walking away he bewitched your father making him trip, and fall without grace. You and he stifled a laugh. You realized something as your father was walking away he was and is very emotionally abusive although you will always love him you were done with that chapter of your life, and you were ready to start a new chapter with Loki. For the first time in what felt like forever, you felt free and happy.

Warnings: some light smut to start~ and then battle time! whoop whoop 
Her cold lips pressed against the back of your neck, a firm presence in the swirling dark. You couldn’t see her, but you could feel her. Could feel her wandering hands snaking over your bare skin, making you squirm. 
You could see your breath form in the cool air around you, and you were pulled back against her front, feeling her hook her legs over yours, her dark hair falling into your sight as she enveloped you. Hints of green pulsed in your peripheral vision.
“Hela,” you breathed, clinging onto one of her hands as the other traveled lower and lower. You stared up into the darkness, falling back even further into her hold, her body and soft cushions catching you. Her voice rumbled in your ear, but you couldn’t understand what she was saying. 
Your eyes fluttered shut as familiar fingers searched and caressed your cunt, pushing between your folds and collecting your wetness on her fingertips. Your hips bucked weakly, as if you were caught in molasses, and you moaned softly.
One of your hands tried to reach back, felt the brush of her hair against your palm, but couldn’t find her head or her shoulders to hold onto. Your legs were still trapped, the fingers were still moving inside you, but your hands were grasping at nothingness and-
You sat up in your bed, shaking, eyes looking around and wondering if Hela could be in your room with you. But there was nothing, and no one out of the ordinary. 
Sweat had gathered in every crevice of your body and you clambered out of bed to take a quick shower, trying to wash the feeling of Hela off your body, without succeeding. You didn't sleep the rest of the night.

The next day you were sitting by yourself, reading a book after lunch in a small reading room away from the main offices and training rooms where you knew the rest of the team would be. 
Something crept up the back of your neck and a chill ran through your body. You tried to ignore it, but it persisted. And when you looked up from your book, Loki was standing by the doorway, looking quite unimpressed. You shrieked, your stomach dropping at the sight of you.
He raised his hand to shush you and eyed the doorway, hoping no one would come through there. You stared at him, and in a split decision, chucked your book at him.
It went straight through his form, only causing a faint green glimmer as it landed on the floor. You gaped at him and he raised an eyebrow, silently asking if you were done.  
“Do you know how hard it was to find you?” Loki said after you had calmed down somewhat.
“What are you doing here?” you hissed, “weren’t you..”
“Dead? No, not quite. Almost.”
You sank back in your seat, your hand over your heart as you sighed, “what is it with you lot and always coming back from the dead?”
“It’s an occupational hazard with what we do,” he shrugged.
A pair of footsteps walked by the room, and Loki slunk back into the shadows, fading away for a moment. You didn't move until you were sure whoever it was  had gone. 
“Look, I don’t have much time,” Loki said once you were alone again, “but we’re here to break you out.”
“Who’s we?”
Loki rolled his eyes, “who do you think? Your murderous girlfriend who unfortunately happens to be my sister as well.”
Your heart nearly jumped out of your throat, “Hela? So she is here?”
“Of course she is.”
You sat quietly for a moment; so your mind wasn’t playing tricks on you. Hela had come back for you, and she was here.. somewhere.
“I- I can’t believe..”
“Well you better, now get your things and follow me. We can get out of here without fighting.”
“Wait- what? No, wait, wait,” you got up hurriedly as Loki began walking to the doorway. You couldn’t stop him- it was only a projection of him, but you weren’t ready to just walk out.
“Why would I just leave?” you asked, making Loki stop in his tracks. He looked you over and slowly approached you, his eyes flashing.
“Because you’re being held here against your will and she’s come to bail you out? Mind you- it was her idea to come barging in and killing anyone in sight, so this is a much better upgrade from that plan.”
“No- no I know. But.. when we get out, what then? What am I supposed to do? Loki... the world’s fallen apart.”
The Asgardian was quiet.
“Yeah, sure,” you continued, pacing from where you were standing, “I don’t like being kept here but- there’s not much else out there right now. Everything here at least feels a little... normal.”
“You can’t be serious. What about Hela then, huh? You think she’ll stay here with a team of heroes who tried to kill her? Just for you? Hela hates being imprisoned, Y/N. This would be a death sentence for all of us.”
“What about you then?” you retorted, “after you get me out, and Hela and I go about our merry way, what will you do? Tour the universe until some other evil plan comes up?
“This,” you gestured around the room, “is all I have right now.”
“No, no,” Loki mocked your gesture a bit more aggressively, “what you have is a prison, and only one person in the world who will stop at nothing to break you out of it.
“I’m not the most romantic, fine,” he admitted, “but I know that the two of you should never be apart, ever again. You should have seen her when I found her, Y/N- she was broken.”
A wave of tears threatened to spill at his words and you fell back in you chair once again. You buried your face in your hands and for a few minutes nothing else happened. Loki looked at you and felt his heart -or what was left of it- break to see you so defeated. 
“I love her, Loki,” you whimpered, “I tried to deny it when Tony said so.. but he’s right. I love her, but I’m scared. This world isn’t meant for her. It would drive her mad.”
“Not with you around.”
You wiped the salty tears off your cheeks and looked up at Loki.
“Let’s get you out of here, and we can figure it out from there, okay? Perhaps we can come to an agreement with the rest of your team.”
You eventually nodded and stood up, ready to pack the few things you had when a loud crash and alarms sounded. There was a hurry of steps outside the room and when you looked, the whole team of remaining Avengers were preparing themselves, running down the hallways to the source of the noise.
“You filthy humans!” a cry came from the direction they were running towards. Your heart shattered; Hela.
Beside you, Loki’s apparition groaned in exasperation.
“I told her to wait, for crying out loud. Why would she be so reckless?”
“She takes after her family, obviously,” you said. “Can’t you get her out of here?”
“You’re a fool to think I can control her now.”
“Then get over here and help her!”
“Yes, yes, alright,” Loki huffed, “I’ll be there in a moment.”
His image shimmered away, and you hurried down the hallway, hoping to stall before anyone was killed.
One of the ground level metal walls had been torn open like it was nothing but paper. Large metal spears and knives were wedged in the edges and the opposite walls. The sun was glinting off of Hela’s horns and blinded you for a moment before you could really look at her.
She looked.. regal. Well, she mostly looked psychotic, with bared teeth and clenched hands, but it was her and she was real and oh boy was she angry. 
Hela had Steve by the throat, holding him up so his feet barely brushed the ground. Tony and Nat had their weapons aimed but didn’t shoot. They were either waiting for her to drop Steve or didn't want to kill her. You hoped it was the latter.
“Wait!” you screamed, skidding to a halt at the scene. Dust swirled in the air from the debris. There were no bodies yet, and you prayed you could keep it that way.
The moment Hela caught sight of you, her face changed. Her eyebrows unfurled and her mouth dropped open a little bit- she looked at you with disbelief, as if she couldn’t comprehend you standing there, alive and well.
Steve took the opportunity as she was distracted and lifted his leg to kick her square in the stomach. She doubled over, dropping him, and he raised his arm to land a punch, but instead, Hela grabbed his offensive arm and whipped him away from her- effectively throwing him against the rest of the team, knocking them all down temporarily.
Before you could react and rush over to see if the group of Avengers were okay, Hela was by you in a flash.
Her hands trembled as they grasped yours, and she looked you up and down, checking for wounds, checking if you were there. Then she cupped your cheek, wiping away the tears you were crying.
“Hela-,” you croaked, because the touch of her was too much, too overwhelming, too good. She smiled, though barely, and kissed you hard on the mouth.
“Stand down, sister,” Thor’s voice boomed, and she turned to see the team back on their feet, aiming everything they had at her. She snarled, pulling you behind her, shielding you from them, as if they would ever hurt you.
“You’ve taken everything from me, brother,” she spat. “You won’t take this last ounce of happiness from me.”
Something flickered in Thor’s eyes and he had to retighten his grip on his hammer, which you realized wasn’t Mjolnir, but a makeshift copy that looked somewhat close to it. 
“Y/N,” Tony said, gesturing you over to their side, “come here. Quick. We don’t want you in the way.”
Hela’s focus sharpened in on him, hidden in his armour. There was a surge of jealousy through her whole being, at the memory of him by your side, threatening to hurt you, sparring with you, taking you from her. 
She pushed you back, hurled herself at Tony with lightning speed before anyone could shoot, breaking entirely through the next wall, and landing with a thud in the next room.
“No!” you screamed, shielding your face from the spray of debris as the wall broke down.
Hela tried to punch, but Tony’s right iron hand held it in place, arms shaking from the force. They stayed there, suspended in time for a moment. Hela lowered her face to Tony’s helmet as she growled and snapped, but he could see the tears streaming down her face, the wild fear and anger in her eyes.
“You won’t steal her from me,” she cried. 
Then JARVIS finished downloading Hela’s body scan from the first day at your home way back, analyzing her form, and realizing her weaknesses. Her left side was much weaker than her right. 
And so, he kicked, jabbed, and twisted her left leg and arm until she howled in pain and dropped to the side, giving Tony the chance to get up and put some distance between them again. 
You felt helpless, not knowing how to stop it, not knowing what to do, not wanting to hurt anyone- you had no weapons on you. Hela staggered to her feet, the helmet having disappeared long ago, and she raised her hand to summon a new menacing sword, when someone hooked an arm around her neck and pressed a rusty dagger against her neck. 
“Drop it, sister,” Loki hissed, the blade pressing finely against her skin. She hissed, but slowly let it slip from her hands as she realized defeat. You were panting, every inch of you throbbing with adrenaline and dread. 
“Stand down, everyone,” Loki continued, and then with a pointed look at Thor, “please, brother.”
Thor was the first to lower his hammer, though his face was still angry and unforgiving. Then Tony, and everyone else followed suit.
Loki kicked the back of Hela’s knee to make her drop down, to which she cried out in anger.
“Sorry,” he added, the blade still pressed against her neck, “but you’ve really got to stop going on killing sprees.”
“You were taking too long,” she snapped, “I needed to take matters into my own hands. How was I supposed to know what was happening?”
“Alright, okay, anyone wanna explain what the hell is going on? Y/N? Thor? You wanna explain what your dysfunctional family is doing here?” Nat asked, exasperated.
The God of Thunder looked at you, your eyes begging and desperate. “They’re here for you, aren’t they?”
You nodded weakly, trembling.
“Well, best let her take her then,” Tony sighed. All of you turned your heads at him in disbelief. His iron armour was short-circuiting from the blows Hela had landed and he quickly stepped out of it. You were reminded once again of how malnourished he looked- and how dark the bags under his eyes were. But his tone remained chipper.
“You’ve seen what she can do,” he gestured at Hela, “and she isn’t gonna stop until she gets Y/N. And I don’t think Y/N wants to stay here either.”
He looked at you knowingly, and you felt like you could cry all over again.
Hela struggled against Loki’s grip for a moment, heartbroken as she saw your face scrunch up and your hands grasp your elbows in an attempt to shield yourself.
“Is that true?” Nat asked, staring at you with a gun still in hand. 
You slowly nodded, making eye contact with Hela and not looking away. You heard Steve sigh and groan a bit from pain as he came up to your side.
“Y/N, she’s a vicious attacking machine, we can’t just let you two run off.”
“Why not?” you asked, your voice thick. “We won’t hurt anyone.”
“Look, we still don’t even know if she knows about Thanos, right?” Clint said, but Tony shook his head, sitting down on the armrest of a cushioned chair that was practically sliced in half from Hela throwing weapons.
“I doubt that,” he said, “if she had control over Thanos or any connection with  him, I don’t think she would have come alone, let alone with him,” with a nod towards Loki.
He rolled his eyes, “you’re welcome for saving you, by the way.”
“Can you- could you all, please, just, can we please just talk about this?” you hiccuped through your words, sobs slowly growing in volume. “Loki- the- the knife, please- please let her go.”
Loki looked at you apologetically, “not if she lashes out again.”
“Hela,” you pleaded, “Hela, please. Don’t hurt anyone else? Everyone- everyone has already been hurt so much.”
Hela looked at you, now seeing the tears sliding down your dirtied cheeks, and her shoulders slumped, before nodding. Her hands that were gripping Loki’s arm around her neck let go, and dropped to her sides.
Loki removed the dagger and stepped away. Tension filled the room, expecting her to attack again.
“Y/N,” Thor said, and he tossed you a new pair of handcuffs. “Go on.”
You stared at him, “excuse me? You want me to chain her up- again? After everything-”
“This is more to keep all of us safe. She’d kill us if we came too close,” Thor said, pointedly raising an eyebrow at you. “It won’t be for long. Not until we figure out what to do next.”
You stumbled over rand dropped on your knees in front of Hela, gently holding her hands for a moment. She stared at you, deep green eyes watering.
“Just for now,” you promised. “Just like before, okay?”
You waited for long, agonizing moments until she nodded, and only then did you snap the cuffs in place. Almost immediately, Tony was on Loki and had his wrists in chains as well.
“Wh- excuse me?” he scoffed, staring at the cuffs, “how dare you?”
“Precautions, my friend,” he shrugged. “Come on, all of you, this mess is doing nothing for my respiratory system.”
He pushed Loki ahead of him and you followed with Hela’s hands clasping yours, rubbing your arms together, her trailing behind you like a lost puppy. You were thrilled to see her again, but wondered where the hell you were supposed to go from here. 
A/N; I guess I kinda made Loki the unspoken hero didn’t I? :D
so the main reason why I haven’t been updating this series as much is because we’re at a point where multiple ideas branch off into totally different directions, and I keep changing my mind about where I want this to go, effectively stumping me when writing. but after much editing and changing of plot, this is what I’ve got, and I hope you like it :)

Loki Series Theories 1/?
After my Season Two Wishlist post wound up being long as hell, I think it’s best that my theory list be broken up into a few parts. Since I want to post my ficlet (too out of context in my opinion for AO3) for one way to integrate this theory into the Loki show (though not exactly in the way I highlight in this post), and because this one is involved as fuck, I decided to start with this one.
Kid Loki is Kid Loki from Journey into Mystery (the comic)
When Loki introduces the other variants to Sylvie he says something like, “Us from the future, us from the past, us…as an alligator.” When he’s referring to Kid Loki, he either says “us from the past” or “us as a child” (I’m so sorry, I’m writing this at 10:30 and I meant to go to bed half an hour ago, so I’m not going to check on this). If he says “us from the past,” I think he’s wrong. I don’t think this is him when he was a child.
One, it’s not the same actor as in the flashback in (I think) The Dark World. Now, we know why that is: that actor is too old irl to play a child anymore. However, in the context of the fiction, this Kid Loki does not look like that Kid Loki. So what happened? Is he older, did this Kid Loki hit puberty? Maybe. He doesn’t sound like it, though, as far as I remember.
So I think Kid Loki is not him when he was a kid. I don’t think this is the normal timeline. Or, it is the normal timeline, because Loki doesn’t know how his timeline is supposed to go. So here’s how Loki thinks it goes: he’s a child. Then he and Kid Loki part ways. He continues to be a child, perhaps growing more resentful of Thor as he grows up normally. Meanwhile, in his mind, Kid Loki, for some reason at this juncture, kills Thor. And when he kills Thor, the TVA takes him in, prunes him, and sends him to the void.
But that’s not what happens.
Because Kid Loki is not 2012 Loki, as a child, making a split-second decision that ruined his life. This Kid Loki isn’t this Loki at all, at any point in his life. Actually, technically, 2012 Loki is part of Kid Loki’s past. But only on a technicality.
Because Kid Loki is the Kid Loki from the comics, not the flashbacks from the MCU. So, I’m going to try to integrate comic book Kid Loki into the later events of the MCU to make this work, but to do that I’m going to have to provide some context from the comics. And I’m going to get some things wrong, because it’s really fucking complicated and I think I’m missing some things. And also I read the Journey into Mystery run to get background on Loki’s character from Agent of Asgard that I didn’t fully understand in certain parts, not for the action plot, so I don’t remember some specifics of certain events I need for this theory. (Maybe one day I’ll do more research before posting, but today is not that day.)
Also, this Journey into Mystery is not the run from the 60s where Loki makes his debut. These comics came out in the 2010s. In-verse chronologically (I’m not sure about release date), it goes Journey into Mystery, Young Avengers, Loki: Agent of Asgard, in terms of my favorite arc. (After another author picks Loki up and erases all of his character development from the last three runs, Defenders: Beyond picks up where AoA left off.)
Okay, JiM starts out by introducing the first iteration of Loki. This first iteration was likely not the very first appearance of Loki from back in the 60s, I’m sure he’s probably died like eighteen thousand times in the course of the comics. But this first iteration of Loki is probably what you would think of when you think of a classical version of Loki (not Classic Loki, classical version from the comics). So pure evil, pure mischief, has it out for Thor, trying to rule over Asgard, etc. This first iteration of Loki has a plan. His plan has a few steps. First, he’s gonna purge himself from the book of the dead. This means that when he dies, whenever that will be, he cannot go to Valhalla (he probably wouldn’t go to Valhalla anyway since he probably wouldn’t die a hero), he can’t go to hel (so he won’t be punished forever as one of hel’s warriors. He won’t get to see his daughter, either, but I don’t think he really cares about that), and he has pissed off Mephisto, too, but he won’t be able to go to H-E-double-hockey sticks hell, either. This doesn’t mean he can’t die. He will die, he’s just not gonna go anywhere in an afterlife. (More on that later.)
The other thing he’s gonna do, is he’s gonna take over Asgard, like he normally tries to do. He’s gonna fuck over whatever business Thor’s got going on, he’s gonna kill him, he’s gonna cause Ragnarok, the whole kit-and-caboodle. So he’s doing all that, and he’s getting shit done. And then (and they might explain this in more detail elsewhere in the book, but I don’t remember. But in the prologue they basically say for some reason, no one knows why, so I’m gonna go with that.) And then for some reason, no one knows why, Loki decides, ‘This would be a lot more fun if I was on the other side.’
So he switches sides. He’s fighting on behalf of Asgard, now, against whatever hell he’s been raining down on it. (Not actual hell, I don’t think? But something of the sort.) Until he does manage to help Asgard out of whatever calamity he brought onto it. But at the expense of, one, the planet, so now it’s just a floating city over this little town in Oklahoma. And, two, at the expense of his own life. So now he’s dead.
Thor, as Thor does, and as we saw at the beginning of Endgame, misses his brother. (Which I love.) To the point that he starts looking for him, and I think maybe starts doing some other stuff, too. Some more active stuff than look for him. (This all takes place before JiM.) And eventually, he manages to find a kid. A little dark-haired, green-eyed, street urchin, who, he comes to find out, has a bit of his brother’s reincarnated soul hibernating inside of him. So (and I don’t know what the kid thinks of this) he awakens the reincarnated little shard of soul inside the street urchin.
So Loki is kind of back, but he’s different. It’s only a piece of his soul. The rest of him is somewhere, not anywhere in the afterlife since he erased himself from the book of the dead, but he’s not around. So Loki is now referred to as Kid Loki, and he remembers some of it. He has some of his personality, but he still has some of this childhood innocence from when he was just a normal kid. It’s this complicated thing where he’s kind of Loki and kind of not. And he’s also a kid, he doesn’t age up (that’s going to happen later). He’s about twelve, maybe.
He may look like a kid. He may, for the most part, act like a kid. But the rest of Asgard doesn’t trust him. So he spends a lot of time trying to prove himself, a lot of time needing to be rescued by Thor when members of Asgard try to air out their grievances about the old Loki on him.
At one point, as comics do, there’s this big battle of whatever (I don’t remember the details, I’m sorry). During this battle, Loki’s doing what he can, but he’s also twelve. So he enlists the help of Volstagg, who has a bunch of kids, so he’s cautiously trusting of Loki. He likes him when he’s acting like a child, and not so much when he’s reminded of the person Loki used to be. And Thor’s kind of off doing his hero thing, so he’s not really around Loki during this part of the comic. If I remember correctly, it gets to a point where Loki realizes, ‘Thor’s going to die during this. Thor’s going to have to die during this.’ And he doesn’t like that, and he wishes there were another way, but there’s no other way to end it, and there’s no other way to end it with fewer casualties and victoriously on the part of Asgard. So he orchestrates on his end what he can do to turn the tide of the war both in Asgard’s favor and against Thor. Loki essentially influences events in such a way that Thor gets killed by the enemy to save Asgard.
And Loki is beat up about this. First of all, he’s lost his protector, so anything can happen to him at this point. Second of all, he made a choice, pretty early on in this comic run, that he is not gonna be the old him. He is gonna try his damnedest to not be like that. And this kind of directly contradicts that. Yes, it was for the greater good, yes, Asgard won, fewer casualties were lost, but Loki got his brother killed purposefully. And third of all, he loves Thor, deeply. It’s really shown in this comic how much he cares about Thor, and how much he wants to be around Thor, and how much he wants Thor’s attention and affection and respect. So he’s really upset and he does grieve privately.
So to tie this back to the show. The timeline splits at the Ark. Thanos kills Loki. Classic Loki doesn’t die and goes off to his uninhabited planet. Our Loki does die. But, somehow (maybe he purged himself from the book of the dead. We don’t know what he did as Odin for four years), some part of him somewhere lives, and at some point after the war (after Thor 4, I don’t know where Love factors into this, I’m sorry), the child Loki before he’s Loki and Thor find each other, and Thor awakens that little soul piece in Loki.
And then we have Kid Loki. And then some big battle happens. (Maybe it’s Kang. They’re all outside of time right now. Maybe Kang ends up happening, I don’t know. I don’t know how this time thing works. I didn’t know how this time thing worked in Endgame, I’m confused as fuck right now.)
Anyway, something happens. Some big battle happens, and Loki’s like, ‘The only way to end this is for Thor to die.’ And somehow, the TVA, because the TVA’s been wrong before, thinks that Kid Loki killed Thor. Or maybe he just wasn’t supposed to let Thor get killed. Because I’m still saying that Kid Loki didn’t kill Thor, or at least didn’t do it. I’m still saying Thor got killed by some shit to stop this war. But, technically speaking, Kid Loki did it. He orchestrated some events that got him killed. He knew that was the only way.
But I’ll tell you this, he doesn’t love it. He’s beat up about it.
But wait, some more astute fans may be saying (to which I say, why are you still here? It’s been almost 2k words, go read something more interesting or drink water). Loki watched the entire tape of his life at the TVA and it ended with the Ark exploding. How could it have ended if he was meant to become Kid Loki? Because that was only the first tape. You know who else’s life is longer than one tape? Tevye and Maria von Trapp and Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in Titanic. Mobius didn’t even intend to show him everything on the first tape. He was trying to paint a picture of Loki’s character to get what he wanted out of him; why would he focus on a version of Loki actively trying to be better, a version of him more openly capable of showing affection toward Thor, a version of himself with friends (yeah, those friends were a hellhound puppy, a magpie with another shard of his soul, and a childlike illusion of Hela, but still)? Mobius didn’t even bother bringing that tape into the interrogation room, because Loki’s second life wouldn’t have served his purpose.
Now I want to talk about how canon I think this theory is. Do I genuinely think this is a possibility for the show, or do I just like how it sounds and would make this canon if I was writing it?
Canon Likelihood: Kid Loki is from the future, not the past…….Not Likely
Unfortunately, I think we’re done seeing him. I don’t think we’re gonna get anymore of his backstory, so we’re not going to hear about why he killed Thor, or how old Thor was when Loki killed him. Personally, I think it makes more sense for him to be JiM Loki. (Which is why I wasted all this time writing this post even if I don’t think it’s likely to be canon.) And! The goddamned episode where Loki meets Kid Loki is called “Journey into Mystery,” so why wouldn’t they reference that? But not likely. They just liked the shock factor of “I killed Thor.”

“I, unfortunately, have someone I want to introduce you all to.” Tony begins as he’s gathered everyone in the living quarters.
“Unfortunately? Well, that always sounds like a good start, Stark.” Natasha jokes, sitting alongside Bucky and Sam on one of the couches.
Tony rolls his eyes and shrugs.
“Yeah, well,” He trails off. “This is (Y/N) (L/N).” He gestures, pointing to the woman leaning against a pillar in the back corner of the room.
She makes an effort to stand upright and walk further into the room.
“Well, hello. It’s nice to finally meet you all in person.”
To say everyone in the room falls speechless with their eyes wide and jaws dropped is an understatement.
“Oh my God, you lot are insatiable.” Tony groans, rolling his eyes once more.
(Y/N) can only smirk and wink at just about everyone in the room.
“You’re welcome, Starky Boy.”
“Put a sock in it, sugar-lips.”
“Sugar-lips?” Rhodey quizzes, amusement dripping from his voice.
Tony and (Y/N) can only stare at one another and grin as they remember where that nickname came from.
*** flashback ***
“One more for the road?” Tony suggests to the very, very drunk (Y/N) beside him.
It’s three-thirty-AM, they’re both at their favourite bar in Manhattan, enjoying a belated birthday weekend of (Y/N)’s which he regretfully missed due to Avenger work.
“You know how to tempt me, Starky-boy.” She teases with a wink, waving her hand up to catch the attention of the bartender, Harrison, who they’ve grown acquainted with over the years of drinking at his bar.
Tony falls into a comfortable silence as he simply stares at the woman he’s been friends with since he was a teen at Phillips Academy.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.” The woman’s sarcastic comment pushes him over the edge. Within a second, his hands are grabbing her head and pulling her in for a harsh, desperate, passion-fueled kiss.
Harrison smirks as he sits their drinks down, watching how the pair have had ridiculous amounts of sexual tension coursing through them since they first started coming to the bar over ten years ago.
“What, the fuck?” (Y/N) manages to breathe between kisses.
“Stop talking.” Tony murmurs in response, only intensifying the kiss more and more.
“Tony,” She attempts but makes no effort to stop the man. No. Absolutely not.
She’s gotten herself off to the thought of this man too many times for her to want to stop.
Her hands are grasping at the black shirt that adorns his torso, his own hands moving down to grab her hips, itching to have her closer and closer.
“Jesus Christ.” The woman gasps as best she can. “Anthony!”
The man pulls back at the use of his full name but doesn’t let go of her hips.
“Tell me you haven’t wanted to do that?” He asks, voice deep. Low. Husky.
“Of course I wanted to fucking do it, you imbecile!”
His hand jumps up to grasp at her throat, a gasp escaping her lips.
“Watch your mouth.”
“Guys, you’re gonna make my customers leave; the back lounge is empty.” Harrison interrupts. Tony continues to make no effort to stop his actions. They’re both too drunk to care.
Not that he’d care anymore so when he’s sober.
The billionaire practically drags the woman off of their barstools, (Y/N) frantically grabbing their drinks, spilling half of them on the floor - to which she gives Harrison an apologetic look but he simply rolls his eyes with a grin.
A small shriek escapes the woman’s lips as Tony throws her into the room, her hands managing to sit the, now half-empty, drinks on the coffee table.
“On your knees.”
“Don’t need to tell me twice.” She grins, obeying the man’s order whilst quickly throwing her hair into a messy ponytail.
“Always knew you were a slut.” The man growls, unbuckling his belt and zipper on his smart trousers.
“You know me best, Starky Boy.”
She wastes no time in taking the man’s solid cock into her mouth, moaning at the feeling and taste, Tony groaning in satisfaction.
“Look how desperate you are for it.” He condescends yet continues to thrust into her mouth, fucking the back of her throat.
No words can be formed to give the man a reply. She’s too busy focusing on taking his impressive shaft down her throat, making sure her lips are touching his pelvis.
“Christ!”
He can’t help himself. His hands are in her hair, grabbing it and yanking her closer to his body, not thinking about anything other than the noise of her gagging.

“It definitely fucking isn’t.” (Y/N) groans, standing up and licking the rest of the mess off of her mouth.

“A nickname I gave her once upon a time.” Tony vaguely explains, (Y/N) chuckling.
“Okay. So why’s she here?” Bucky asks, not taking his eyes off the most attractive woman he’s ever seen in his life.
“She has a name.” (Y/N) comments, quirking a flirtatious brow at the man.
The super soldier raises his brows but smirks.
“Why’re you here, doll?”
Now, that does something to her core.
“Starky Boy told me that y’all need a babysitter, so here I am!” She boasts, evidently joking but it makes everyone grin and not ask anymore questions.
“I’ve known her since I was in my teens, she’s a family friend.” Tony adds, reassuring everyone that she’s not someone to be cautious of.
“Pft, family friend? Don’t compliment yourself, Stark.” (Y/N) jokes, everyone laughing with her. “Anyway, in all seriousness, hello, I’m (Y/N). I’m temporarily chilling here if you’re all alright with it since I got nowhere else to be.”
“A pleasure, (Y/N). Steve Rogers.” Captain America begins, stepping forward and shaking the woman’s hand.
“Pleasure’s all mine, Captain.” She winks, the man smirking at her antics which will be refreshing around the compound.
“Bucky.” The Winter Soldier greets, nodding his head at the woman from his seat on the couch.
“Romanoff.” Black Widow follows, (Y/N) biting her lip at the red-head. “Natasha Romanoff.”
“Alright, James Bond.” Sam jokes, everyone laughing.
“Tony, I can’t believe this is the first time you’ve given me the opportunity to meet the Natasha Romanoff.” (Y/N) beams, winking at the woman who returns the gesture with a smug smile.
“Christ.” Tony groans, face-palming harder than ever.
“Sam Wilson.” The man smirks, reaching out to shake the woman’s hand from his position on the couch.
“Bird Boy.”
He gives a hearty laugh at that.
“Sure.”
“James Rhodes, but call me Rhodey.”
“So you’re the Transformer’s identical twin, right?” The woman quizzes, rhetorically, shaking the man’s hand.
Another round of laughter.
“Something like that.”
“Bruce. Bruce Banner.”
“The guy I don’t wanna piss off; got it.” (Y/N) smiles, watching the brunet give her an anxious smile and chuckle. “Or maybe I do.” She adds with a wink, basking in the entertainment that comes from his embarrassed expression.
“(Y/N).” Tony groans, semi-threateningly.
“Yes, Anthony?” She asks, smiling at him like an innocent child who’s never done wrong.
“Good day to you, beautiful mortal. I am Thor of Asgard.”
“Wowee…” The woman widens her eyes as the God leans down to kiss her cheeks. “The one and only.”
“That would be I.” He smiles, throwing her a wink also. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
“Stop hogging the limelight already.” A voice complains from beside the God of Thunder.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t the God of Mischief.”
“Well, well, well, a beautiful lady such as yourself knows who I am, huh?” Loki greets, taking her hand and leans down to press a kiss to her knuckles, Tony continuing to grunt and groan in the background.
“Hard not to when you get off on destroying New York.” (Y/N) grins, a chorus of laughter filling the room yet again.
“Stop hogging the limelight.” A female voice mimics Loki's previous words.
“Well if it isn’t the Scarlet Witch!”
“That is I.” Wanda grins. “Wanda.” She adds, holding her hand out for (Y/N) to shake, which she accepts graciously.
“Tony, do you know how pissed I am that you’ve not introduced me to these people until now?”
“Oh my God, I’m literally going to kick you out.” The billionaire responds, pouring himself a whisky from the bar at the back of the living quarters.
“Yeah, yeah.” (Y/N) retorts, winking at Wanda before turning to the couch beside her which a certain Archer is leisurely laid across. “Barton.”
“(L/N).”
“Long time no see.”
“Ya think?” Clint quirks a brow, jokingly.
“How’s Laura? How’re the kids?”
“Not bad, not bad. How’s Michael?”
“Dead if I had any say in the matter.” The woman casually threatens as the brunet mentions her ex-boyfriend.
He breathes out a laugh.
“Commitment issues as good as ever then?”
“You know me, Robin.” She jokes, using the nickname she gave me when he came on a night out with Tony and her many moons ago.
“You two know each other?” Wanda questions.
They both shrug.
“Somewhat.” Clint answers, (Y/N) giving him a playful slap on the shoulder.
“You love me!”
He grins and sits up before standing.
“You know I do, come ‘ere.” The man chuckles, pulling the woman in for a tight embrace.
“Missed you, Robin.”
“You too, Marian.” He responds, using the fairytale nicknames from Robin Hood.
“Those two have definitely banged.” Sam snarks from across the room, Natasha agreeing.
“Jealousy doesn’t look good on you, Wilson.” Clint teases, flashing a wink his way.
“Now, now, boys.” The woman settles, turning to the young gentleman on the other couch, staring at her with some much awe in his eyes. “Who’s the kid?” She asks, staring at him directly yet directing her question at Tony.
“Uh, hi, I’m Peter. Peter Parker.” He stumbles, standing upright and holding out his hand for her to shake.
She giggles.
“Corruptible.”
“(L/N)!” Tony yells, the woman only laughing as she shakes the young man’s hand.
“A pleasure, spider-boy.”
Peter’s eyes widen at her knowing.
“Right, are we done? That was exhausting.” Tony complains for the nth time.
“Oh, grow a pair, Stark.” (Y/N) retorts.
“I will literally kick you out of this building.”
“You ain’t got the nerve.”
Downing a swig of his whisky, Tony takes a deep breath but smiles at the woman.
“It’ll be nice to have you around, sugar-lips.”
“I bet.” She winks, everyone chuckling again.
And that’s just the beginning of her relationships with everyone at the Avengers HQ.

Human (Natasha Romanoff)
Human: Chapter 1
A/N: Troyes, France is 6 hours ahead of NYC so 7pm there is 1pm in NYC. For the sake of this fic we’re going to pretend that the Battle of New York lasted quite a few hours.
*This is my first ever fic and I wrote it at 3am so bear with me
WARNINGS: swearing; mentions of weapons; violence; panic attack; anxiety; my crappy writing; and I think that’s it (lmk if there’s anything I should add)
Barcelona, Spain; January, 2012:
The repetitive ticking of the clock registered in my brain before my eyes even opened. I didn’t need that clock to know what time it was, of course. It was 4:30 am— the same time I've woken up everyday for the past twenty-five years of my life. I no longer need to wake up this early, yet it’s a habit so deeply engrained in my framework that it’s seemingly unbreakable. I roll out of bed and make my way into the dingy kitchen with light footsteps. With some quick math I figured that I got barely two hours of sleep last night, but that’s more than usual. I started the coffee machine and asked with a sigh, “Would you like some coffee or are you just going to lurk in the corner?”
The leather-clad stranger with an eyepatch stepped up to the kitchen island opposite of me and responded, “I wouldn’t mind a cup. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that you knew I was here.”
“Well, you know what they say about old habits. You got a name?”
“You can call me Fury. We have a lot to talk about, Eight.” I slid him a mug of cheap coffee and gestured for him to take a seat. 
“Then we’d better get started so you can get the hell out of my apartment.” He simply chuckled in response and I could already feel my patience wavering.
Two Hours Later:
“Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division? Really, dude?”
“Yeah, it’s a mouthful. Trust me I know.”
“I’m sorry that you came all this way for nothing, Fury, but there’s no way in hell I'm working for some government spy circus.”
“It’s technically an extra-governmental spy agency-“
“Doesn’t matter. I’m not joining,” I said, cutting him off.
“So, you’re just gonna hop from one shitty apartment to the next until you die? That doesn’t seem like a great life.”
“Better than the one I lived before.”
“You aren’t the person to live in hiding. You’re the person who thrives in the action and lives to kick ass, and we both know it.” When I didn’t respond he continued, “I’ll leave you my card. When you change your mind, which you will, you’ll know where to find me. You don’t have to be the bad guy anymore, Eight.” With that he slid off the stool and left my apartment, leaving me with nothing but my rapidly spiraling thoughts and a black business card.
Troyes, France; May, 2012:
It had been four months since Director Fury came to my apartment in Barcelona. We’d kept in contact and he hasn’t given up on me joining S.H.I.E.L.D.. I'm living in my third apartment since then. Wow…those landlords must really hate me. I was watching the seven o’clock news when I saw something that made me choke on my Cheerios. “An alien invasion?! What the fu-” My Cheerio-muffled exclamation was interrupted by the ring of my burner phone. “Hello?”
“Eight, you watched the news recently?”
“Uh yeah, I'm watching it now. You fighting aliens now, Nicky?”
“Okay first of all, I told you to stop calling me that. Second, yes… aliens. I’m forming a team of…extraordinary people to help protect against these threats and they could really use a hand to finish off this fight.”
“I may be weird as hell but I ain't ‘extraordinary’, Fury. I don’t wanna join your band of misfits.”
“Alright, how about a compromise? You fly your fancy jet here right now and help them out and if you still don’t wanna join once the battle is over, you can go right back to France and I’ll stop bothering you about joining.” After a few seconds of silence I agreed. 
“Fine, but I’m not gonna change my mind. Wait, how do you know about my jet?”
He gave a hearty laugh and said “I know everything, Eight. You should know that by now.”
New York, New York; 96 Minutes Later: 
I flew my jet into the city, making sure to take out a few flying Chitauri in the process. We don’t need to talk about how I got my hands on a German jet that can fly 2100mph. I saw a few interesting characters standing in a circle fighting off an endless sea of aliens. I maneuvered the jet and— wait…is that guy wearing blue tights? Is this what Fury meant by extraordinary? Whatever. I landed in the street about 20 yards away and killed the engines. I hopped out and started jogging towards the group. A couple of them turned around, probably wondering who the hell the chick in the black uniform is and— whoa that’s a beautiful woman. After realizing my steps had literally faltered in a mini gay panic, I slowed to a walk and said “Y’all need a hand?”
“Depends on whose hand it is,” replied the redheaded source of my panic.
“I’m a friend of Fury’s. He practically begged me to come save your asses.”
“Fury doesn’t beg,” she said in a doubtful tone.
“Not typically, but I'm just that awesome. If you don’t believe me then call him up but I’m gonna go kill some aliens.” With that I took off down another street where there was a group of the repulsive bastards. After unloading all of my magazines into Chitauri bodies, I switched to my swords and daggers. After another hour or so of fighting, there were no more aliens in sight. I started jogging toward the rich dude’s tower when I saw said rich dude falling through the rapidly-closing portal. I stopped next to Mr. Blue Tights and the buff blonde guy with the hammer when the big green dude grabbed Mr. Rich Dude from the sky and landed next to us. The green guy yelled, waking Mr. Rich Dude up with a start. “What the hell? What happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me. Except for her, she’s pretty hot,” he said nodding toward me. Just then the redhead jogged over to us and eyed my blood-soaked form from head to toe. 
“See something you like, Red?”
“No. I’m pretty sure I'd be classified as a sadist if I liked the sight of that much blood,” she said with a raise of her eyebrow.
“Yeah that’s fair.” She shook her head at me with a small smirk. There was barely a second of silence when Mr. Rich Dude spoke up. 
“Anybody want shawarma?”
Three Hours Later:
I had gone to the Triskelion after the band of misfits apprehended Loki. Agent Hill showed me where to park my jet and directed me to a room so I could shower and stay the night if I wanted to. I had put on black jeans, a white tee, and a black jean jacket, all of which had been in a to-go bag in my jet. I was toweling off my hair when someone knocked on the door. I opened the door to see none other than the one-eyed-wonder standing there. “What can I do for you, Nicky?”
“The Avengers are being debriefed in Conference Room 6B in ten minutes. You should come.”
“The Avengers? Is that what you’re calling them? That’s cute. But I'm not an Avenger and I don’t want to be an Avenger, so no thanks.”
“You should come anyway.”
“I don’t actually have a choice, do I?”
“You know me so well, Eight,” he said with an amused grin.
I walked into the conference room and the Avengers were already there. Steve Rogers, Clint Barton, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Thor, and Natasha Romanoff—whose names I learned from Hill— were scattered around a large table, along with Fury. Romanoff eyed me from where she was standing and arched a perfectly sculpted eyebrow at me. I squinted my eyes and wiggled my eyebrows in response, and I could see her stifle a laugh. “What’s your name?” She accompanied the question with a blank expression, which made me feel oh-so-special. 
“That’s a very personal question, Miss Romanoff. Let’s slow the pace, please.”
“You know my name but I can’t know yours? That doesn’t seem fair.”
“The world isn’t fair, Miss Romanoff, and I love a good mystery.”
“If you two are done flirting, we have business to attend to,” interjected Fury.
“Right, my apologies, Nicky.”
“Don’t call me that, Eight.”
After an excruciating 43 minutes and 27 seconds, Fury finally let us leave. I was so close to freedom when that unbelievably sexy voice called to me. “Eight!” Romanoff hastily walked towards me in an effort to catch up.
“Yeah?”
“Is your name actually Eight?”
“If you want it to be.”
“Why are you so damn stubborn?”
“It amuses me, Red.” There was a brief silence during which both of us were trying to figure out if the conversation was over. 
I was about to leave when she continued, “So that’s it? You’re just gonna leave?”
“Well, no. I’m going to stay the night, steal some really expensive jet fuel, and then leave in the morning before Fury can get up my ass about joining his little team.”
She rolled her eyes and responded, “Why won’t you join the Avengers? And why won’t you tell me your real name?”
“It’s just not my style. I��d rather fly solo.”
“You ignored my second question.”
“Then maybe you should take the hint and stop asking.” With that I turned around and started walking away, but a hand on my arm stopped me dead in my tracks. Alarms started going off in my head, and I'm pretty sure Romanoff was saying something to me but I was too caught up in the memories of beatings, punishments, and psychological conditioning to register it. After a few of the longest seconds of my life, the white of my vision cleared up and the voice telling me ‘physical contact is strictly forbidden’ faded into the background. My heart was still hammering in my chest and I was trying to keep my breathing steady despite the inevitable panic attack trying to drag me under, I regained my neutral expression and said. “Sorry, did you say something?”
“Are you okay?” She had a concerned expression and if I wasn’t so blinded with anxiety, I would’ve appreciated how cute the furrow of her eyebrows was.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m just gonna turn in. It’s been a long day.” I turned around and walked back to my temporary room at a brutal pace. As soon as the door closed behind me, hot tears raced down my cheeks and I lost the ability to breathe. It was gonna be a long night.
3:21 am:
I finally managed to calm myself down and stop the panic attack after almost four hours. Well, I passed out because I couldn’t breathe but it did calm me down. Trying to sleep would be pointless, so I decided to leave before anyone woke up. I didn’t really have much to pack so I grabbed my duffel bag and left the room. I made it to the corridor attached to the landing pads and ran into the one person I really didn’t want to see. “What are you doing out and about, Red?”
“I’ve got places to be and things to do. Were you just going to sneak out in the middle of the night like a teenager with a rebellious streak?”
“Yes, that’s exactly what I’m doing, actually. Do you need a ride? Where are you going?”
“Madrid. Fury said I could hitch a ride on another plane that’s headed for Germany.”
“Well I’m going to France if you wanna ride with me. My jet will get you there a lot faster.” She studied me for what felt like way too long, probably debating if I would try to kill her or not. You know how spies are with their trust issues.
“What the hell, why not?”
And that is how I ended up in a jet with “Candy Shop” playing over the speakers and Natasha Romanoff in the copilot seat yelling at me to, and I quote, ‘slow the fuck down.’ “Why would I slow down, you psycho?! That’s the whole damn point of this thing!”
“Where did you even get a German jet this fast?”
“Germany.”
“No shit Sherlock. How did you get it?”
“I went to Germany, stopped in at the local speedy-jet dealership, and walked out with this beauty.”
“Sarcasm is a defense mechanism, you know? You’re only being like this to keep me from seeing the real you. You built walls. You want everyone to think you’re fine when in reality, you’re falling apart.”
“Okay…um…there was no need for that, Dr. Romanoff. I can find my own therapist, thank you very much. And don’t go pretending you’re all healthy in the head, Miss Assassin.” It was quiet for all of five seconds before we both burst into laughter.
Madrid, Spain:
I landed the jet at the local S.H.I.E.L.D. base and killed the engines. Romanoff and I removed our headsets and I stood to help her get her bags. “Welp, I’ll see you around I guess.” I really wasn’t good at this type of thing. Or any social interactions, really. Twenty-four years in a cell will do that to you.
“Will I? See you around, I mean?”
“Um, I don’t really know, honestly. I’m not part of S.H.I.E.L.D. so we won’t just run into each other or anything but…”
“Why won’t you join S.H.I.E.L.D.? I mean what else are you doing?”
“Ohhh, I see. You just love me so much that you don’t want me to leave. You’re gonna miss me so much-” I was cut off when she threw her backpack at my head. “Hey! You’re lucky I caught that! Freaking crazy woman.”
When our laughter died down she said, “Well I should probably go. Thank you for the ride.”
“Of course. Hitchhikers are always welcome aboard my beloved jet.” A small smile appeared on her face and she stepped forward to give me a hug but she must’ve seen my body go rigid because she stepped back. She might’ve said something but the voice in my head was too loud for me to understand her. I don’t know how long it was before I unfroze but when I did, she was gone. I walked to the front of the jet and started the journey to France.

Loki Series Thoughts—Glorious Purpose
Ok, I’m always nervous about posting my thoughts, but here we go. Spoilers ahead of course!!! (Disclaimer: Any gifs or images are not mine.)
Let’s start out with the episode’s name: Glorious Purpose. I know some people were a bit miffed about the emphasis put on the line, but I actually thought it worked well. It’s not so much that Loki actually believes in this “purpose,” but rather he is clinging to what he’s been told his purpose is. And by the end of the episode, he’s finally working through some of the things he’s been hurt by, abandoning what he’s been forced into and ready to be who he wants. Granted, it’s still going to take some time for him to come to grips with all that has happened, but I’m excited to see the journey.
The TVA. They undeniably suck. Whether or not it will be addressed directly, they are the (or one of the) antagonists in the show. What they are doing is, frankly, tyrannical. Three “time keepers” have taken it upon themselves to force countless versions of time and people into one single stream. And you know what? They can’t control that timeline. Not like they want to. As much as Loki’s line about “the weak” applies to himself, it applies to the TVA, too. It’s a facade of control that they cling to; if they truly had the right, the ability, to control time, everyone would follow their path. There would be no variants. Now, I could write a whole separate analysis on the MCU’s explanation of time travel. It’s convoluted and in a large way doesn’t make sense.

I’d like to talk about Loki’s characterization. I am, in a word, relieved. From the trailers, Tom seemed to be over-acting, something rather strange for someone so good at conveying deep emotions through nuanced actions. Now I believe any exaggerated lines from the trailers are just Loki trying to separate himself from who he’s been told he is, and trying to reinvent himself. I don’t think that’s a bad thing either; they’re not rewriting Loki, he’s just growing in a new way. And though this way is “new” I think it will be similar to what we’ve seen before. From what we’ve seen so far, there is good continuity, and they are addressing things about Loki that should be addressed in canon.
Loki projects. Most notably in the Avengers, but also a bit in Thor 1 and The Dark World, a lot of Loki’s lines can be applied to himself, though he is talking generally or towards another group. What comes to mind is actually something he touches upon again in the series. The illusion of freedom. And though it is not said that line in particular is him thinking of himself, it can be inferred based on his admission that the line in the gifs above apply to him. Also that little gesture when he says “weak” breaks me. He’s hurting so much.
Loki is not a villain. He may think he’s one because everyone else is telling him that, yet we’re already seeing it brought up that it’s not true. I can only hope that we’ll see Loki state this himself later in the series. He was largely forced to do what he did. It is not his fault, so how can he be a villain?
Loki cares. Tom’s acting is just *chef’s kiss* Seeing his mother’s death hurts so much. I love that his first response is denial. Loki is thrown into something he’s never known about before, being shown things that, to his knowledge, have never happened. But then when he’s had a few seconds to wander around the TVA on his own terms, he’s more come to grips with all that’s going on. So, when he’s by himself and see’s Frigga lying there, dead, it gets to him. Then seeing Odin still call him his son, he feels the slightest glimmer of hope, but also regret; he already knows in the back of his mind that he’s not actually going to get that. Loki’s living from second to second, trying to hold on. He probably thinks this ends with his death. (I do have issues with that Odin scene in context of Ragnarok but that’s more a tangential aside, so I’ll gloss over it for now.) Then seeing Thor and himself acting like brothers again is heartwarming. So just when he’s feeling uplifted, Thanos comes into the picture. He realizes how much control the titan still had over his life; he never really escaped. And in the end, Thanos made good on his promise. And that is terrifying! And he laughs at it. It’s a sad sort of laugh, one that’s slightly crazed. Loki feels that no matter what he does, it ends in pain. By the end of seeing all that, he is a man broken. Rather, more broken than he already was.
Loki is struggling. That’s nothing profound; it’s obvious. But where it really stands out to me is actually in a part I originally thought to be out of character. I am referring to “What if I was a robot and I didn’t know it.” Upon closer inspection, I realize it’s actually that his perception of himself has been so thrown that he really isn’t sure about his own chemical makeup anymore. Odin and Frigga keeping from him that he’s a frost giant made him so unsure of himself, he thought he might not even be a living being.
Nervous tics. Was I the only one noticing his leg bouncing when he talked to Mobius? And what about that scene when he’s sitting on the steps? He begins to pick at his hands. Note, that’s something he did in T1 after finding out he was a frost giant and while confessing to the Warriors Four about how he was the one who told the guard of their trip to Jotunheim. Just a little detail I really appreciated. (If anyone has gifs of any of these things, feel free to share :)

Mobius. I’ll be honest, I’m a bit undecided. I’m hesitant to say he’s evil. After all, we haven’t seen that much of him yet. However, I will say he is unscrupulous and manipulative. His questions weren’t to help Loki work through his trauma. Mobius was trying to goad him into helping, and likely was trying to gauge how much this Loki is like the variant he’s tracking. When Loki makes any admission of his feelings, it’s something he already knew, not a conclusion Mobius helped him reach. Mobius mocks him a bit and pushes his buttons because he sees Loki as a means to an end, and wants to know how easily he can get him to work with him. And what strikes me is how similar Mobius’s deal is to Thor’s deal in TDW. Thor doesn’t offer Loki freedom, he offers revenge. Mobius’s deal is just another variation of this. He can’t offer “salvation” but he can offer something “better”. Working for the TVA really isn’t better, though. So what does he mean? Well, I think he means a chance for Loki to prove he’s a hero. I hope as the show progresses it’s addressed that Loki doesn’t have to prove himself to anyone. That’s what he’s been doing his whole life, but I want Loki to see for himself that he doesn’t have to.

Miss Minutes. Propaganda. Plain and simple, it’s propaganda. Besides the way it praises the “time keepers” as amazing saviors, necessary to keep the world in order, it’s essentially saying “don’t think for yourself.” The whole point of the video is “the time keepers are great. The TVA is flawless. Trust us to decide everything. You have no autonomy in the world we want, so surrender your free will. Submit to the system we’ve decided is perfect and everything will be just fine.” Of course, by “just fine” they mean the variant will be pruned and the timeline will keep going as the time keepers see fit. The animation style was great though! It really fit.
The infinity stones. I think their inclusion makes sense. If you remember from Endgame, the stones being in the right place in the right time keeps the timeline from branching, and thus prevents the multiverse from being created. Likely, the time keepers used the stones to make their “sacred timeline.” Naturally, any variant time stones would cause a problem. That’s why they have so many extras. But think about how pointless so much of what happened seems. Nat, Gamora, Vision, Tony, everyone who was snapped, everyone who was left. So, literally the entire universe was flipped upside down for paperweights. It really puts Thanos’s pursuit of the stones into perspective, doesn’t it?
The cloaked figure. I think there’s some misdirection going on here in one way or another. Mobius says he’s chasing a Loki variant, then immediately it cuts to a scene with the cloaked figure. Our minds are likely to assume that is the variant then. But they don’t actually say it’s Loki, so I’m inclined to believe it’s not. Though, I don’t have enough information to say who I do think it is, I could make a couple of educated guesses and say Mephisto (he certainly interacted with Loki in the comics, plus there’s the stained glass window) or Sylvie. Well, whoever Sophia Di Martino’s character is. I know she was previously listed as Sylvie on sources such as IMDb, but that has since disappeared. But why would you have a “young Sylvie” (Cailey Fleming) without an older version? There is speculation Di Martino’s character will be Lady Loki, but I hope this won’t happen. If they make Lady Loki her own character, I doubt we’ll see Variant Loki get to be fluid. Even if it’s confirmed on the record, it’d be nice to see actually happen beyond a piece of paper. And with twist villains being such a prominent force in modern media, I’m interested to see who our cloaked friend really is.
Time travel. Like I said earlier, this is a lot. But I can’t talk about the episode and not mention this aspect in at least a little more depth. I don’t like how the MCU deals with time travel. I think it’s an unnecessarily complicated mix of a number of different, already complicated theories. However, I think Loki will ultimately escape from the TVA and create a multiverse too difficult to prune (and maybe he’ll actually get to burn the place down too!) This will then tie directly into Doctor Strange 2. Do you guys know what that’s called? The Multiverse of Madness. Actually, in the Miss Minutes propaganda, they almost exactly say “will throw the multiverse into madness.” Will we get to (finally!) see a certain raven-haired god meeting Dr. Strange? And maybe even the Scarlet Witch herself? Well, I’m not sure, but right now I think it’s looking pretty good!
And some random things that didn’t really anywhere else:
Peggy is in the background?! My thought here is that Steve wasn’t supposed to stay with her. This made not only a Variant Steve, but also a Variant Peggy. We may not see Steve, but I bet he’s been taken care of too!! And who knows? Maybe there will be a cameo later. Otherwise, it might be something that was cut from the show, or just a fun easter egg of sorts.
The score was so good! It sets the mood perfectly.
Loki is a good fighter. Even if he’s overpowered, he finds a way.
Some of the humor didn’t land, but that might just be a personal thing.
So now my final thoughts. It’s their strongest pilot yet. So much emotion crammed into less than an hour. A lot of exposition, too, yet it didn’t feel tedious (Endgame I’m looking at you). And then we get to delve into Loki’s psyche, something that really appeals to me! Overall, 9/10. I hope the rest of the series is as good!
