the shape of the moon
the whisper of a breeze
echoes through the house
we’ll never live in
it kicks up dust
from your unused wicker chair
and rustles the dead flowers
on the windowsill
outside the overgrown garden
aches to be frolicked in
our bones feed the flowers
wild the way you wanted to be
growing free as our house rots
a perfect sphere
shining in the moonlight
the moon put the wind in your bones
so you could visit once more
without considering how hard
it would be to leave again
easy for her to say
she ebbs and flows
but we’re only buried once
we fall apart
slowly, slowly.

unlike the popular novel series of my youth a series of unfortunate events is much more boring
it’s the car that won’t start, the break in, the ex that seems to hate your guts when you thought the breakup was amicable. its falling for your best friend in the stupidest way possible, its dropping your grocery bags and breaking all your eggs, its a life that doesn’t seem to go anywhere no matter how much you’ve changed. it’s your only pen running out of ink, it’s leaving your clothes in the community dryer to find them dumped on the floor, it’s your avocados rotting in the fridge. it’s the emptiness of knowing what you want but feeling unable to grasp it, it’s your cat getting sick. its uncertainty its anxiety it’s boiling your pan dry on the stove—it’s life, in a particular framing and of course you don’t want to be a negative nancy and of course you want to look on the bright side and you wish you’d broken a mirror because at least then in seven years your bad luck would be up. your coworker says you need a cleanse and you charge crystals and burn herbs and mindlessly stare at the moon drinking a tea and wishing upon something that there’s a life for you that’s more than a series of unfortunate events.

I’m a boy and I was not born a boy.
I’m a boy and I use unconventional pronouns.
I’m a boy and I want to live as a boy.
I’m a boy and I want to be free to say that out loud.

Just like the other boys.
My friend is a girl and she likes boys.
My friend is a girl and she was not born a girl.
My friend is a girl and uses she/her.
My friend is a girl and she wants to be called a girl, not a slur.
My friend is a girl and she should be allowed to live as a girl.
My friend is a girl and she shouldn’t be assaulted because she is a girl.
Just like the other girls.
My sibling is nonbinary and they like every gender.
My sibling is nonbinary and they were not born that way.
My sibling is nonbinary and uses whatever pronouns they feel like.
My sibling is nonbinary and wants to be perceived as a person too.
My sibling is nonbinary and should be allowed to choose what they call themselves.
My sibling is nonbinary and shouldn’t be shoved under the rug because their gender identity “doesn’t make sense”.
Just like other people.

Please Bring Kaiser Home.
I have been having complications with managing my diabetes that have led me to be hospitalized twice. I live alone. Kaiser is a precious pup that specializes in detecting when blood sugar is too high or too low before it leads to complications. Something I have been struggling with. Kaiser would not only improve my quality of life but also be my companion and friend
I’m asking for community support get a Medical Alert Dog. It is a huge ask but any support is appreciated 💗

When we were together and i wasn’t with you.
I want you to see me at a cafe one day and i’m laughing
you wonder what’s happening
but the smile i share is not for you or the things that you do anymore
it’s more
the way that im loved is enough im not begging for crumbs not starved i’m full up
my biggest mistake was letting you take without stopping to see if you’d play the game
i live in my thoughts
and you never shared yours
when we were together and i wasn’t with you

Dead Poets Society is definitely a gay movie because I'm a lesbian and I would never look at a man the way Todd and Neil were looking at each other

being gay isn’t being attracted to the same gender, it’s:
“i can take care of myself just fine, alright?”
“no”
“what do you mean no?”
“no :)”

omg soldier, poet, king is NOT a Christian worship song
folks on tiktok being like YALL DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS ABOUT JESUS??? and "better take it off my dnd playlist now!!!"
it's not about jesus holy fuck, i mean, it is, but it isn't.
Dear Wormwood is a concept album that uses biblical symbolism to talk about an abusive relationship. The Oh Hellos have a whole ass THING about retelling stories (biblical, mythological etc) to use to deal with your own story which is like...a whole thing in storytelling anyway (the new testament is a monomyth yall, Hero's Journey 1.0, in that regard everything is biblical)
Dear Wormwood is put in the context of someone writing letters (inspired by The Screwtape Letters, CS Lewis) to their abuser. "Soldier, Poet, King" is from the perspective of the protagonist, on the receiving end of the abuse, who (after the song "Exeunt") is escaping from the abuse and attempting to continue their life outside of it. The person who is the soldier, poet, king, is the protagonist. "your city" is the abusive relationship. "Wormwood" is the devil of this person's life.
If you look on Genius, yeah the story is about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. In context? It's about the Second Coming of the protagonist. The rebirth they get after escaping.
The ending song of the album, "Thus Always to Tyrants", the last line of the album is
Where I go, will you still follow?
Will you leave your shaded hollow?
Will you greet the daylight looming?
Learn to love without consuming?
The protagonist is attempting to mentally escape from the abuse, worried about carrying the trauma into the next relationship.
Soldier Poet King is not about Jesus. It's about fighting. It's about escaping the cycle of abuse. It's about the power that resides in stories, about people who have experienced this before and succeeded. It's about using those stories and learning from them.
Keep the shit on your dnd playlist, it's sort of the whole point.

Glasses Machine Broke.
I am legally blind and my prescription is extremely expensive. I have to use glasses to drive and work. My lenses are thick and it costs extra to thin them out. Diabetes took my eyesight. Even if I was to raise this money today it would take a week to get them. So please be mindful this is an urgent request.
Goal: $400
