Everyone was waiting for her but she kept looking at herself in the mirror.
The wedding dress was beautiful, Pepper told her it was what Maria Stark –her mother- wore in her own wedding day and she loved it, the silk was too soft, hugging her curves with an ethereal touch and it had a subtle scent that she assumed belonged to the mother she couldn't remember.
Tony swore their mother loved her, their father too, the young bride couldn’t help but doubt it, they would not love her if they could see her now about to get married to a man who didn’t love her back, a man who humiliated her once for his pride, someone who probably only wanted what this arrangement could give him back.
How would she survive this marriage when it was impossible to leave the room and get to the Cathedral?
A knock in the door pulled her out of her mind, finding Natasha smiling at her in the reflection of the mirror.
“Are you ready, dear?” her friend knew the real answer but still gave her the chance to speak.
“I was about to go” she lied and the redhead gave her a knowing look “everyone it’s waiting, isn’t it?”
“You’re the bride, honey, they can wait” Natasha walked to her, looking like a goddess in her silver dress and put her arms around the bride’s body “you can say no, we can fight Russo’s father, hell, Billy would love having one more excuse to kill him.”
She was sure Billy would do it, not only for her but for his sister, for Madani and for himself but it wasn’t time yet, the alliances needed to be settled, Stark and Barnes had to fight alongside to kill Pierce and Carlo Russo. She made all that mess before getting her family back and nobody would take them from her, never again.
“It has to be done, Nat” she put the veil in her head and took the beautiful bouquet Becca left for her earlier “let’s go.”
Her friend must have seen something in her eyes that made her nod.
“Alright, Bells. Let’s do this” her nickname, the one Yelena gave her when they met years ago, made her smile, who could ever thought that knocking someone out with Christmas bells will change her life?
Natasha guided her trough the corridors to the waiting room where Tony was talking in a hushed tone with Pepper, her sister-in-law radiant with her baby bump, reminding her why this alliance needed to happen.
“I’d be waiting outside, dear” Nat kissed her cheek and went to take her place with the other bridesmaids.
Tony was staring at her, pale like a ghost, whispering his sister's name. It wasn’t the first time in the last months Bells was told how much alike she was with his mother, their mother but this time Tony didn’t say anything, just looked at her eyes to find determination that matched his concern.
“Everything it’s beautiful, Peps, thank you” the bride said and the ginger smiled with a hint of sadness barely visible.
“It’s the least I could do for you, topolina. You deserve beautiful things” she never had a mother, not that she could remember, but with Pepper there she could feel like she did.
Pepper gave her husband a gentle squeeze in the arm and went to join the rest of the guest.
“I have Frank ready to go, say the word and we leave” his first words almost made her chuckle, he spent the last fifteen days planning ways to get her out of this but Bells always refused, a small and stupid part of her happy because she would marry the man she loved.
“I want to do this, Tony, for all of us” that part it was true, this marriage was the only way she could protect him and Pepper and the baby, Billy and Dinah, Frank and Maria and the kids, the family she dreamed about since she was a kid and that she finally had. It also would save her from Carlo Russo’s greedy hands.
Bells knew one or two things about the mob, mostly from movies and for that she was sure the respect from his brother to her choices were more part of his good soul, she heard some stories from Maria that made her want to kill Carlo Russo even more.
True to the man she met not too long ago Tony didn’t fight her, instead he straightened his bow tie and extended an arm out for her to take it.
“Then allow me to walk you down the aisle, signorina, it will be my honour” the charm went back to his eyes and Bells could breathe, if she could count on them, she could do anything.
The music started playing when the wedding planner gave the signal and every one of her friends smiled at her or blew kisses at her before marching down the aisle. From where she was she could see Maria walk with confidence, not sparing a glance to her father who unfortunately was sited next to her brother Billy and Dinah.
Natasha was the last one, looking at her with reassurance one last time before following the others, then it was their turn.
“I love you, topolina”
“Love you too, Tony”
The crowd of guest was an unfocused picture, she only had eyes for the man waiting for her at the altar, wearing a black tux with a new haircut, his long chestnut locks were gone, sending a silly wave of sorrow through her veins.
She loved his hair, in an embarrassing impulse she remembered pulling his long hair to get him to kiss her again when-
Bells stopped herself.
It was dangerous to think about those times, they were gone the minute he saw her as one of his properties and decided to punish her for something she never did.
Bucky’s eyes never left her the whole way to him, drinking her like he was dying of thirst. Steve must have noticed too because he gave him a subtle bump to get him to blink and stop looking like he would commit sacrilege in the middle of the church.
The beautiful glass windows projected a million colors around her when Tony lifted the veil and with a barely visible hesitance put her hand in Bucky’s.
“I’m confident you will protect her with your life, Barnes” was all he said, dead serious when Bucky gave him a solemn nod and her brother kissed her forehead.
With her eyes watching her step, Bells avoided looking at him until it was impossible to keep going.
A soft smile, one she thought she lost forever, resurfaced when their eyes locked and the bride could read what he was thinking.
She was his, always was and always would be and he would never let her go.
I'd do bad things with you >>>

Hiya! I'm super happy to post this story even if I don't know what I'm doing, to be honest I'm not fluent in italian, so here's the translation of the pet names I used:
-topolina: Little mouse.
-signorina: Miss.
If I made a mistake with that, feel free to correct me and tell me what you think! What do you think it will happen?
Love, Lily.

(press you to) the pages of my heart
four: "come here. let me fix it."
a steggy friends to lovers au (also on ao3)
They were going to be late. Even for them.
(Though Steve would swear up and down it wasn’t his fault. Peggy would swear that he was lying.)
“It’s basically the same costume, anyway. How are you still not ready?”
“I had to send Tony an angry voice note first,” Steve shouted from his bedroom. “Really, it’s his fault we’ll be late.”
Peggy tapped their new and improved badges against the kitchen table. “Pepper’s a natural redhead. It makes more sense for them to be Mulder and Scully. Also, I somehow managed to make new badges, find realistic neuralyzers, and fix my costume before you tied your tie.”
“Well, I got into an in-depth debate with both of them over who deserved a quote-unquote ‘couple’s costume.’ That ate up some time.” Steve walked out into the living room, his eye roll audible across the apartment. “They both had lots of unsolicited opinions, so you’re welcome for sparing you from that.”
“My hero,” Peggy scoffed, grabbing their drinks and dropping next to Steve on the sofa, as he tied his shoes. “Hopefully the party will still be going when we get there.”
Steve sent her an incredulous look, and they both laughed. “Yes, right, fine. It was impossible to even think that with a straight face.”
“Sometimes I still feel hungover from their 4th of July party.”
“Ah yes, the Steve Rogers Birthday Bash, T-M,” Peggy said, holding up her hands in brackets to showcase the trademark with the aplomb it deserved. And because he always glared at her when she did it.
“Yeah, yeah, hilarious. So funny. I’m dying of laughter.” Steve pushed himself to his feet and pulled Peggy up to hers too. “Are you ready, Agent P?”
“What are you saying, Agent S? Don’t I pass muster?”
He gave her a once-over so quick she might have been insulted, if the warm weight of his gaze hadn’t pinned her in place for those few seconds. Her breath caught for an embarrassing moment as his eyes returned to hers. “You look beautiful. And deadly. Perfect, as always—except your tie is crooked.”
“It is not.” Peggy had no idea whether that was true—Steve’s compliments had thrown her for a loop, and recalibrating herself to focus on what he was actually saying was taking longer than it normally did.
He set their glasses on the coffee table and pulled her to their entryway. “Would I lie to you?”
“Yes,” she retorted, but unfortunately her tie was, in fact, listing to one side. “I swear I had it sorted—it must have gotten bored waiting for you to be ready too and decided to relax.”
Steve snorted as she loosened the knot and began to loop the fabric over itself again, but no retort came. He just watched her hands in the mirror as she pulled the long end of the tie through and tightened the knot. But once again, it hung slightly off to the side, and she groaned at her reflection. “These things are bloody impossible. I don’t know how you wear them every day.”
“It just means I have a lot of practice. Come here,” he said, dropping his hands to her shoulders and spinning her around. “Let me fix it.”
Peggy considered the possibility, with Steve’s knuckles brushing against her neck as he re-knotted her black tie, that she was dreaming. Or that she had taken complete leave of her senses. She and Steve were so often in sync—and naturally so, without any conscious thought behind it—that when they weren’t, when they seemed to be in the midst of wildly diverging experiences of the same event, Peggy felt unmoored. Speechless, even. How else could she explain Steve’s efficiency, his apparent immoveabiity, while she was left breathless at the sweep of his hands across her collar? And how was she meant to deal with this new reality, the one where she and her best friend were horribly, perhaps permanently, out of sync, and one wrong word or move could tear everything down?
Steve, oblivious to Peggy’s personal crisis, stepped back and placed his hands on her shoulders again. “There,” he said, a soft smile on his face. “Perfect. As always.”
Peggy placed a hand over the knot and cleared her throat. “As are you, Steve,” she said, relieved her voice stayed steady. “Now, let’s go save the universe. With tequila shots, preferably.”
He laughed and ran his hands down her arms, before taking a single step back. “Yes, ma’am.”

Cold Hearted
Steve Rogers x Reader, Steve Rogers x Sharon Carter, Bucky Barnes x Natasha Romanoff, Bucky X Reader x Nat
Chapter 9
Notes: This is the end. I had a hard time finishing this story because I have really enjoyed the support. More than my other works combined so feel free to check them out while you're here. I'm working on Fridays Place and the Cowgirl and the Engineer so will hopefully finish them both this week. I'm plum out of ideas at the moment so hopefully something will inspire me. I've never taken requests but am open to the idea.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the support, love, shares and comments. They mean the world to me. Hope you enjoy
Later-
In the common room that night Tony, Sam, Carol, Val, Thor and Loki toasted Clint with Asgardian mead until none of them could see straight. Pepper,  Wanda and Vision watched from afar, sipping wine and cheering Clint on with the rest of them. Until Pepper had to ask Vision to help carry Tony back to their penthouse.
The rest of them tried to make it back to their quarters with varying degrees of success. Thor and Loki helped Clint as he was the man of the evening but Sam ran out of steam just before he reached his quarters and passed out sitting up against the wall.
Bucky and Nat pampered BB, soothing her until she was almost asleep, cleaning and bandaging the cut Sharon gave her, then the three of them curled up into bed together. BB woke up to nightmares a couple of times but her lovers were right there to soothe her back to sleep.
Steve sat in his room alone going over everything that had happened since Sharon had come to the compound and beating himself up for not catching on to her duplicity. And for neglecting to look for her after the snap. After losing to Thanos the first time and losing Bucky, again, he had been so busy blaming himself and trying to figure out how to fix things that Sharon hadn't even entered his mind. Then he met BB and was swept away by her so that he almost forgot about losing Bucky. Then they reversed the snap and he was so relieved to have fixed everything and get Bucky back that she still didn't cross his mind at all. He felt bad about what she went through, he really did but thought her revenge had gone too far.
And poor BB, like it wasn't bad enough how he broke up with her, she could have been killed tonight. His guilt and anger at himself was almost more than he could bear. He knew Sharon was right, he did everything wrong when his friends, if they even were that anymore, could have helped if only he had put his pride aside and admitted he was raped. He would have to talk to everyone in the morning if they would listen but even if they forgave him he still needed to retire and move out. He knew it would be a long time before anyone trusted him again and he would have to work extra hard for it. The only bright spot he could find was that he knew Bucky and Nat would love BB like she deserved, something he obviously wasn't able to do. He couldn't sleep and spent the night trying to figure out how to fix the mess he made while he finished packing his rooms up.
The next morning, well closer to afternoon Friday notified everyone that brunch was served and hungover Avengers slowly staggered to the dining room. Clint woke Sam up from his spot in the hallway and they leaned on each other grumbling about the lights being too bright. Bucky and Nat came in with BB in between them, both still feeling overprotective.
Once everyone except for Steve was seated the food was served and some of them tried to eat while others took the bloody mary's that were offered. They sat around the table speaking in hushed tones so as not to aggravate their hangovers.
When Steve came out he received a few nods and a couple of grunts but most of them weren't feeling very talkative.
Bucky noticed the red around his eyes and the purple underneath and smirked while putting his arm around BB possessively.
Steve approached them awkwardly and spoke softly "Good morning everyone. I just wanted to say something before I leave."
Pepper waved at the empty seats "Come have something to eat"
Steve shook his head "No, thank you Pepper." And paused "I just, I just want to tell all of you how sorry I am for everything. I've been a complete ass. I was too embarrassed to admit that Sharon raped me to do the right thing so I convinced myself that she was right and treated the people I love most in this world like shit."
He choked up a bit and looked at BB "BB, I don't have the words to tell you how sorry I am. You are the best thing that ever happened to me and I treated you so badly. I'm ashamed of how I treated you when you never deserved anything but the best. I failed you and I hope one day you will find it in your heart to forgive me."
BB got up and faced Steve "I'm sorry for what Sharon did to you, no one deserves to have their body violated like that. You're right though, you're an idiot. If you had come to me I would have helped you stop her, we would have helped you. A lot of what she said last night was true, you let your ego get the best of you. I'm not ready to forgive you today but maybe one day I will. And please get some help. See a counselor, talk to a shrink but do something to help yourself. Take care of yourself" she gave him a timid hug.
Steve looked at his best friend "Buck, man, I'm an idiot. And a jerk. I love you like a brother, you are my brother and I'm sorry for how I treated you. You were right. I hope I can fix the damage I've done."
Bucky just nodded still angry for BB but didn't want to pile on Steve.
Steve sighed "I'm going to be at my brownstone, all of you are welcome any time. I already contacted a psychologist and have an appointment next week and will mostly be around the house, staying out of trouble. I'll always be available if you need me for any major threats.
I boxed up Sharon's stuff and it's being picked up by some agents so they can see if there are any clues about the rest of the Power Brokers plans and contacts.
I really am sorry. You guys take care of each other and I hope I see you." He quickly walked away with tears streaming down his face.
Everyone sat quietly after Steve left, not sure what to say after all that.
Sam smiled "At least we know our Steve is still in there somewhere. Maybe in time he'll come back to us." Then he groaned because the effort to think and speak was too much for his head.
One Year Later-
BB could barely contain her excitement, all the drama and stress over the last year forgotten as Wanda helped her prepare for the ceremony. There was a fullness in her heart and a smile on her face. She wore a simple ivory dress with flowers in her hair. BB and Wanda waited in Tony's cabin for her music to start.
Pepper had decorated the lawn with flowers and a few chairs while a large flower covered arch was at the dock of the lake. Bucky and Nat were by the arch talking softly to each other while classical music softly played in the background.
The guests were all settling down and Carol stepped up to the arch. She signaled for the background music to end and the music BB had selected for her procession started "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".
Wanda gently nudged BB "It's time. Let's go start your life" she kissed BB on the cheek and offered her arm as they left the cabin and walked down the aisle to the loves of her life who were waiting at the end.
Carol performed a Kree commitment ceremony as none of the religions or governments on Earth allowed for more than two partners. When the newly married partners walked down the aisle they were all happier than they ever imagined being and the small group of guests were applauding and cheering.
During the reception, which had many more guests than the ceremony because Tony didn't know how to throw a small party, everyone danced and drank. While BB, Nat and Bucky took a break from dancing they were approached by someone they hadn't seen in a year.
Steve smiled at his old friends and congratulated them with a large gift. He was alone, having spent the last year trying to heal himself, reflecting on everything he had been through and doing volunteer work. He missed them all terribly but had stayed away to allow them to heal. There was still a sadness and missing piece but he was glad BB was happy and loved. There was also hope that maybe he could repair the friendships that he damaged so badly last year.
Maybe this could be a fresh start for all of them.
The End

Do you have any tips on how to write a fanfic? I have some ideas but I have no idea where to start.
Mmmm.... okay.
This is tricky, because it all depends on your strengths as a writer, what you like to do, etc.
For me, though.
Fanfic is a lot like acting. You have to get into the head of a character you didn't write and behave like they would, but write it down.
So, I suppose, here are my tips. Very River-Specific. One size does not fit all!!!
Pick a plot you like. Who cares if it's fake dating. Who cares if it's enemies to lovers. Who cares if it's soulmates. Who the actual f cares if it's something that's popular, cheesy, or overused. Who cares if it's been done. Fanfic is all about overused plots and overdone tropes. Just write it. There will be an audience. I swear to you. Do you want to know how many "Tony Stark Adopts Hyrda Peter Parker" fics with super similar plots there are out there? A ton. And I'd read them all again for completely different reasons. No one can right your story like you can, my friend. You're amazing, and don't worry about that. Pick something you like, pick something self indulgent that flows, maybe start off small in a nice clean one shot of punching a character who needs to be punched(that's what I did). If you've got funky, unique, untried ideas, use them, but don't feel like everything you write has to be brand new and untried. That's not why we write fanfic, Love <3
Write about characters how you view them. If you hate a character, describe why you hate them in detail. If you love a character, show why you love them. If you relate to a character, show us why. I relate to Sophie like I relate to Marina and The Diamonds, okay? Like, sweet stars above, she and I vibe so well. I know what she's thinking because it's basically what I'm thinking, just a little more scattered. Keefe is broken, in my head, and there's usually an underlying pain to his existence. Etc, etc. I find pieces in each character I can attach to, and then I run with those. You'll see this in a lot of my fics, I pick out characteristics, and I especially stick to those when it comes to side characters. For instance, Tam is usually super annoying or super loving. Marella always behaves like she's the physical embodiment of a chili pepper. Biana is always smart on her feet and well dressed. Like, I just hold onto those things and vibe with it. If they're main characters, I'll psychoanalyze the heck out of the characters, but usually, until then, they serve the purpose they serve.
Don't just focus on characters' good attributes. Be sure to let your characters fuck up. I mean it. They're just people. Let them mess up, screw up, ruin it. Make everything go down the toilet. Make it all horrible and awful. And then fix it. Show them in all their ruined glory. Show the one character's complete distrust of others, and don't solve it too quickly. Show the one character's anger issues, and don't change them, just shift them around, expose why. This is what makes fics interesting to read!
Don't just focus on character's bad choices. If there is one thing that is not fun(usually), it's watching everything go constantly bad always. Give!!! The characters!!! Something fluffy!!! Like, if it's a little self-indulgent scene of cookie-baking, or hair cuts, or shopping, or a date, or a dinner, or something fun and cute that is just a filler for the huge dangerous plot, or if that is the plot, then good for you. Have the characters be flawed, but don't only make bad things happen to them. Love your characters, they deserve a break, too. Except for the characters you want people to hate. Give THEM no mercy.
Be sure to have fun. Fanfic is about having fun. If you're not having fun, why do it. Abandon the project that isn't fun anymore, do something new! Who cares if you posted it already, you're not under any requirements to keep going. You put in effort for free, baby! They get what they get, and as long as you ahve fun, keep going with it! If it's not fun, stop! No one really minds all that much. They'll probably be sad and disappointed for a small moment, but, hey, "life is pain, princess. Anyone who says differently is selling something." They'll live, and this is your project! Have fun with it, and don't worry about what other people think!
hope these help! feel free to send me another ask if you want more tips!! :D

“No other mcu ship, canon or not, has chemistry and dynamic as great as Sylki does and this makes sense bcs the whole point a director, the writers and the actors were trying to deliver is that Sylvie is Loki's one true love and soulmate and this goal of a story was achieved.” - from twitter
i am so TIRED. sylvie is loki’s one true love and soulmate huh? i guess that is the kind of love he truly deserves. no other mcu ship can compare to them i guess. the bar is in hel.
lmao NGL i read these opening remarks with growing outrage that a sylki stan would think this is a good idea to confront me with on my own blog and i was all ready to unleash hell bahahahahaha
nice job, you got me LOL
and fucking MOOD on the tired
even if i DIDN'T care about LOKI and he was just another character to me (and let's face it, series LOKI isn't recognisably LOKI anyhow); sylvie is a shitty partner.
i GET enemies to lovers, whatever. but once they are supposedly on good terms with one another and enjoying eachother's company, WHY is she still such a nasty cold bitch? why isn't she affectionate and caring towards him? like jane to thor, like pepper to tony, like peter to gamora, like steve to bucky? (yes i said it lmao and i know stucky isn't canon but it IS a love relationship whether you argue it's platonic or romantic).
she's just mean and self-absorbed and turns on him immediately she doesn't get her own way. doesn't notice how her remarks shut him down, how dismissive and mocking she is towards him. and HE doesn't notice either and keeps trailing after her in a really heartbreakingly sickening way.
abusive relationships aren't satisfying to watch and shouldn't be portrayed as some kind of ideal to aspire to.
gross.

MASTERLIST OF THE STORY
Chapter 39: Graveyard of rotten flowers.
“Hey mom,” she said, kneeling in front of the gravestone with her name on it. “I hope you are alright, it's been a while.”
She noticed that the flowers were long rotten and felt a pang of unjustified guilt at that.
“I don't know what to say, I just-” She sighed. “I just miss you… Do you think that I'll ever feel whole again?” She chuckled. “You can't answer…”
Closing her eyes, she began to grow beautiful flowers around the grave.
“You deserve it. I'm sorry I couldn't do it sooner.”
Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning around, she saw an old woman.
“Hello darling, I didn't want to interrupt you, but it's the first time I see someone come to this grave after the burial.” She winced at that.
“Yes, I… It's my mothers grave.” The woman nodded and sat down next to her on the grass. Y/N looked at her, curious, but still welcoming of the company.
“My name is Rosa,” she said.
“Y/N.”
“That's a beautiful name.”
“Thank you.”
They stayed silent for a while.
“That grave over there,” she pointed to a tombstone not far from her mother's, “is my wife… She died twenty years ago and I still come here every week.”
“I'm sorry,” Y/N said and Rosa shrugged.
“The one thing that's assured in life is death.” She looked at the mournful look on the young woman's face. “How was she? Your mother.”
“Oh, she was cool.” She smiled softly. “She had a temper but she was love personified most of the time.”
“She sounds lovely.”
“She was.” Y/N told her. After a moment of silence she looked at the old woman and bit her lip. “Do you ever stop missing them?” Rosa looked at her and smiled kindly.
“No.” She cocked her head to one side, looking into the distance. “But it does stop hurting like that with time, I suppose.”
“It seems as if it will never stop.” She let out a breathy laugh, pursing her lips.
“It does, doesn't it?” Rosa told her. “But it is just a feeling.” Y/N smiled.
“A person I care about a lot told me that one time.”
“Oh? Is this person someone special?”
“Yeah,” she smiled softly. “He is.”
“Does he by any chance have dark long hair?” Y/N's eyes snapped up to her and started to look around when she spotted him.
“Go,” the old woman told her.
“Thank you, really.”
“Of course.” She nodded.
After that, she got up and started to run towards him, but she stopped just before reaching him.
“Loki? Are you truly here?” Y/N asked, suddenly scared.
“Why don't you kiss me and find out?” He told her and she did as told, crashing her lips desperately on his, only pulling out when both of them needed to breathe. “I knew you would come.”
“I am so glad you are okay, I was going insane without you.” She laughed and hugged him.
“I love you.”
“I love you too, my dear mortal.” He pulled away just a bit to look her in the eyes. “Let's go home,” he said as he started to pull her towards the now very obvious open portal.
“Wait!” Y/N tugged on his hand and he stopped, looking at her confusedly. “There is someone I'd like you to meet.”
                                     --------------------------------
“This is not the encounter I would've planned…” She said, smiling sadly. “But, Loki, this is my mom.” Y/N said, motioning to the grave. The god looked at her sadly.
“Y/N…”
“Please,” she begged him and he nodded.
“As you wish darling.” He looked at the grave again and sighed. “Hello Y/M/N, I am Loki, Y/N's boyfriend.”
“He prefers the word beloved.” She clarified, smiling.
“I do.”
Y/N sat down on the floor and he followed suit.
“This is the one I tortured you with, always talking about him…” She looked at Loki. “The owner of my heart.” He breathed in sharply and then grabbed her hand.
“You've been here this whole time?” He asked.
“No, when I arrived yesterday I walked around a park and then I fell asleep there.”
“You slept in a park?” He frowned and she smiled, trying to contain her laughter at the disgust on the god's face.
“Yeah Lokes, I slept in a park.” She said, widening her eyes in mock surprise. He rolled his eyes and pulled her into his lap.
“I will never let you out of my sight again.”
“Okay,” she answered, nuzzling her face into his neck. “I'm glad you got to meet her, at least like this.”
“I am glad too, my love.”
“She would've loved you, you know?” She said now, looking at his face. He looked down at her and smiled softly.
“Do you think so?”
“I know so, she would have said you were very handsome.” She caressed his cheek. “And she would've said that she never saw me this happy.” She smiled softly, looking at the man she loved so much. “And she would've been right.”
“For the record, my mother would have said the same thing.” He sighed. “I love you Y/N.” He said before kissing her lips and then her forehead.
“I love you too Loki.”

a snippet of asshole!Bucky in my enemies to lovers, soulmate, meet-ugly, oh and it's shrinkyclinks--because why not have all the tropes.
--
As soon as the elevator doors closed, Bucky mumbled around the mouthful to tell JARVIS to bring him to Tony’s workshop since his arm had been acting up since yesterday, sending painful feedback up to his shoulder and into his neck.
He’d had moments of pain like this in the past, but that was before his soulmate revelation. So shoving the pain into the void wasn’t an option anymore, which meant shouldering it on his own—excuse the pun. And if the pain wore on his patience a little, making him more of an asshole than usual, then whatever. It wasn’t like the punk didn’t deserve it.
And fuck, the guy had really rubbed him the wrong way. How entitled did you have to be to lay around while you’re on the clock? It seemed a good work ethic was just another thing lost to time. And maybe Pepper and the others were fine with paying for someone to take a nap, but he wasn’t about to tolerate it when he was around.
So finishing the sandwich, he licked the mustard from his fingertips as he chuckled. The kid—Steve—had actually put just the right amount of it on, though Bucky wouldn’t tell him that. Besides, the guy wore his emotions on his sleeve, making him look like a pissed off kitten, leaving no doubt he’d wanted to leap over the couch and pop Bucky in the nose.
Yeah. It was going to be too fun fucking with the kid.

MASTERLIST || Requests Are Open
Tumblr media
"What's gotten Professor Snape in such a good mood?"
On most days, Loki would make his own quips at Tony and his antics, but today wasn't one of those days. Last night he had proposed to the love of his life and they were one step closer to becoming a family. So no, anything Stark would say or do will be left in deaf ears. He was far, as the man said, in a far too good mood to be bothered by anyone.
All throughout another mundane meeting post-mission, Tony had decided to throw another one of his parties for the great success of the mission and everyone, including even Loki, was down for a few drinks. As soon as the meeting was over, he was back up to his feet, phone that you had given him already in his grasp and making his way out of the room.
"Who knew a woman could pull a stick up hid ass." he heard Tony speak the moment he stepped out of the room. Loko wasn't sure what possessed him to linger, but he did. Wanting to know what else they could say about him and his lover.
"Everyone deserves a little bit of happiness, including him." Rogers points out much to Loki's surprise.
"She is good for Loki, I have never seen this side of Loki come out in years. He is the happiest he's ever been." Thor added to which Loki automatically rolls his eyes ay.
"Props to the girl then, having the patience of a saint to deal with his arrogant ass." Tony added to which was cue enough for him to leave not wanting to hear more about their conversation--but happy to realize that you had made such a change to him when no one else could believe he could.
Just in time, he felt his phone vibrate and an incoming call had him turn the constant stern lip upwards into a big smile as soon as he answered.
"My Love, how are you doing?" He inquired satisfied with the mix of moan and groan from the other line.
His feet dragged him through the corridor, ignoring the rest of the world. All that was important was you and you love.
'Sore. Hungry. Still downright horny.' You spoke brazenly knowing your boyfriend will be the only one to hear your conversation.
"Y/N…" Loki warned, but the satisfied smirk played well on his face remembering everything that had happened the night before after he proposed. How he had brought you the brink of pleasure over and over all night long until you had to practically beg him to stop and realize you could barely move your lower half.
'What are you up to right now?' You inquired, Loki could hear the soft rustle of the bed in the background. He was certain your words were true and you were also still in bed to deal with--the damage of last night.
"Training with Thor and the rest of his misfits." He muttered under his breath. "Anything you have planned on doing for tonight?" He inquired.
'I'm actually visiting my step-mother today, let her know about you proposing and the likes. Need someone on our side before I tell my dad.'
Loki's lips formed a frown now. He never knew much about your family, you tried avoiding anything that has to do with your family and with his own past, he chose to understand that you might not have much of a good relationship with them as much as he did. So this little fact that you had a step-mother was news to him more than anything.
"Will I ever meet your parents?" He inquired.
'Definitely.' You spoke far too dodgy for him. He was the God of Lies and he knew it wasn't much of a lie, but there was a truth that you were yet to share with him. For a moment, it brought him to a halt, wondering what exactly was going on and if there was something you were still unprepared for the world to know about him. 'Listen, I really need to crawl to the bathroom to prepare, thanks to you. But will you be having dinner here tonight?' You inquired breaking him out of his trance.
"Actually, there is a party here in the Compound, would you want to come along as my guest?" He initially didn't want anyone of the team to know about you while you both dated, but this was different now. A life changing difference that he knew would have its own share of consequence if he does not make the right decisions. As much of a nuisance as the could be at times, they will ensure your safety if the need would arise.
There was a moment of silence in the other line and he was worried if he overstepped things with you.
'You're okay with that?'
"Yes." He answered immediately. "I would want nothing more." He admits now.
'What time?' You asked.
"I don't have the details yet, but when I get it, I'll send it to you and I'll even tell Stark I'm bringing you along." He snorts already knowing the kind of conversation he needed to endure because of the man.
Another moment of silence that finally has his brows furrowing. What were you hiding?
'That will be great…Listen, I really need to go. I'll see you tonight, Love you, Mischief.' You spoke quickly before finally hanging up the phone of him leaving him to truly wonder what was going on. ~ "Okay, I want you to start from the very beginning." Your step-mother, Pepper, had inquired the moment you had finished with spewing all the word vomit you could give in a span of thirty minutes about your relationship with one Loki Laufeyson, as well as how you had successfully hidden this part of life from her and from your father, the fact that you've hidden your parents from your boyfriend was another thing you had to deal with.
In the middle of the bustling café, just a block away from your law firm and a couple of blocks away from Stark Industries, you felt a moment of comfort in front of your father's former PA that had been like a mother to you throughout you and your father's earlier days of constant bickering. Pepper had been there for you when your own father didn't want anything to do with you and when your mother realized you were more worked that she could handle. Years now passed and Pepper grew to be the mother you never thought you would ever be allowed to have for yourself even with your age not being that much far from each other.
"Loki wants me to go to the party and here I am still thinking of a way to let both my fiancée and my father know about me." You explained in the shortest way possible.
"Maybe this party would actually be a good thing." Pepper assured, cupping your hand hoping to reassure you more. "Now tell me how Loki proposed to you?" She inquired.
For the next few hours, you and Pepper had continued on with your conversation to the romantic night you and Loki had shared last night. How the sudden change happened in your shared apartment, the array of flowers that were spread all around, the single slice of cheesecake on the dinner table, and the small little note with the question you had been hoping he would ask for the past five years was finally asked and the moment you had turned to look for him, he was behind you on his knees with the biggest ring you had ever seen in your life. An emerald stone that he admit to have been from his hidden treasures his brother or anyone else were not made aware of, a stone his mother had given him when he was young hoping he would make good use of it when the time comes and he did. Turning it into a ring to finally propose to you with.
"The first moment I laid eyes on him, I socked him right in the face for what he did to Dad, but I just couldn't help myself from falling in love with him." You told Pepper after telling her the stories. "He is the best thing to have ever happened to me and Loki tells me I am like that to him, but all I ever did was love him and made him see he wasn't a monster the world thinks him to be."
"We know." Pepper points out. "We see the change in him, everyone does. He usually ignores Morgan, but now, it's like those two are best friends. I just make sure your father doesn't see him anywhere near Morgan if he's in the compound."
"He thinks his mission was to pull the youngest away from Loki." You spoke ironically sighing still afraid of what would tonight entail for the both of you once the truth comes out.
You feared more about Loki's reaction than your father's own. Living a life away from his name and anything that has to do with him all throughout your life, his disapproval honestly didn't mean much to you as you once thought it would. You stood all on your own as a Defense Lawyer, without his last name to back your career up. A part of you wondered what your life would have been like had you decided to take your father's last name instead of remaining with your own mother's, you know a target would constantly be placed on your back because of it aside from the constant scrutiny of all your hard work being because of his name.
But Loki, the fear you had was to hurt him. The God of Lies that had his entire life be a constant lie, you did not want to add to the trauma he had to endure in his life. That was the last thing you would actually want to do. Especially now, now that he's made this much change for you and for the fears he had now come to face.
"Everything is gonna be okay, Y/N." Pepper assured pulling you away from your thoughts. "Your father will overreact and try to stop your relationship with Loki, but he's only being protective of you and catching up on the things that he had missed while you grew up."
You nodded, knowing as much. It was a constant battle between the two of you, one put forward and two foot back. His constant need to protect you, Morgan, and Pepper was his number one priority, but it gets mixed in long run and he finds himself pushing you away instead. Pushing everyone away in the hopes of protecting everyone he loves, it failed him far too many times and left a lot of broke heart and words never meant to be spoken. But after what had happened with Thanos, how he had almost lost you and Pepper, he made the change to be better.
But you sometimes felt it was too late, how your energy that was once trying to be part of his life was now focused on your career as well as the fact that you started seeing Loki post-blip. You lived a life that you always hoped to have with your father and your step-mother. It was just a good thing that Morgan came along, it gave your father a missing piece of himself he never gets to play before.
"I don't even know if I'm more scared about Dad's anger or Loki's disappointment." You spoke honestly hoping for the best at this point.
"Just talk to him, I'm sure if he really loves you, he will understand."
"I really hope so." You muttered already thinking of the mess that would come tonight. ~ "Why do you look like your ass is on fire?" Trust Stark to continually be the root of all of Loki's anxieties. "Sure she's real?"
Loki rolled his eyes and stood from the coach at the sight of your text apologizing for being late and you making your way to the compound right now. He had been nervous to say the least, it was the first time he would even be opening up to everyone about this part of his life, let everyone know about you, the woman that had changed his life for the better. He wanted to make sure he made a good impression of you to the rest of the team--not that he needed to knowing you watched the news and been the one championing the need for a stable body to ensure the heroes were always kept in line. You know each and every member of the team down to the very personal lives because of a case you've done against them a few years back.
"She heading here, I hope everyone is on their best behavior, especially you." He was quick to point an accusatory finger at Thor.
"I'll behave." Thor was quick to promise but Loki wasn't so sure if he could trust him.
Another ding on his phone and the smile on his face grew as you announced you were by receptions waiting for him now. Without another word had teleported right to where you were in reception. A smile already playing on his face at the way you jumped out of the blue at his sudden appearance and he was quick to grasp onto your waist before you could stumble. Not waiting to get scolded once again, he pulled you right into him for a kiss. Hands holding on to your dress covered waist as his lips continued to savor your taste.
"I hate you sometimes." You pout the moment he finally pull away.
Loki couldn't help himself in gazing at you and how good you look in his color. The emerald dress accentuated perfectly with your skin. How modest you looked in your office attire but powerful enough in it to make anyone bend to your will, he was close to doing so had it not been for the fact that there were people upstairs waiting for the two of them. A good impression would do everyone good and he knew perfectly well you could give to the team.
"You wouldn't have said yes if you did." He spoke pointedly as they now made their way to the elevator to bring the both of you upstairs to the party. "How was work?" He asked.
"The firm got another DUI and no one wants to take the case so guess who gets to deal with that bullshit now." You muttered arm now wrapped around Loki's own waist. "I know it's a one and done thing but the guy was an idiot." You continued.
"Mortals and their drinks." He chuckled the irony of the party was filled with nothing but alcohol for the past few hours now. "It's the weekends so I believe you deserve a drink." He points out just as soon as the elevator door opened and both of them were welcomed in the chaos of the party still going on. "Come, you need something to drink."
Escorting you, the wandering eyes of many wasn't left unnoticed. You were gorgeous, yes, but the bigger and more intriguing part was the fact that you were with Loki, of all people. The recluse former Megalomaniac hellbent on destroying the world and making it into his own kingdom to rule.
"So she really is real." It was Romanoff that had noticed the both of you as you made your way to the bar.
Loki noticed the realization clicked in the assassin's features knowing who you were during the whole Accords and your whole role in making it into somewhat of a reality once in the past. The smile on her lips fell to a degree but was quick to pull it right back up.
"What can I get the both of you?" She asked pulling up a pair of shot glass right in front of the both of you.
"Tequila would be nice." You answered before Loki could say your usual drink of choice.
Watching Romanoff pour the pair of glasses, you double shot the both of them before finally turning to Loki, bewildered with your antics.
"Are you quite alright?" He questioned never once seeing you act like this before.
"Yep. Definitely." You nodded, wincing at the liquid courage you've consumed simultaneously. "Never been better." You muttered but never once did your eyes meet Loki's own.
"Are you nervous about meeting them after what happened?" He questioned. It was stupid of him to invite you out of the blue knowing your long standing feud with the team while you worked with the Government to put them down in the past. He should have asked you if you were ready to actually be in the presence of the people that you had a hand in once throwing in the raft all those years ago.
"Yeah." You finally admit, eyes returning back to him now. "I know I shouldn't be, but there's something more." You muttered.
"No one is gonna hurt you, I'll dragged them to hell myself if they even think of ever harming a single hair in your head." He vowed, a promise he was more than willing to make now. When it comes to you, he could care less about the trust that was now growing within the team, if it means you are happy he could care less about the repercussions that come with marrying you.
"Promise me, you wouldn't be mad." You asked.
"Why would I ever be mad at you?" He questioned now coming to cup your face into his hands. "I can never stay mad at the woman I will marry, that much I can promise you." He points out kissing you on the forehead and was suddenly thrown to the wall by an Iron Man suit.
Everything was a blur as he found himself being tossed around by Tony Stark himself with you screaming for the man to stop. What his eyes could see was the party a frenzy of people running and trying to make their escape, with you still screaming and ignoring Natasha that was demanding you to step away from the fight.
"Dad! Can you stop beating the shit out of my boyfriend?!" You screamed halting Tony from sending Loki out onto the windows.
Wait, Dad?
"You're dating him?" Tony questioned making his way towards you as you stood your ground, the worry and anger lingering in your features. "Since when have you been sleeping with this guy?"
"Since the bullshit Thanos did." You responded before turning your attention back to Loki as he now was standing, shaken by the information you never once tried to let him know. "This is the exact reason why I didn't want you to know about him, Dad. I knew you'd react this way." You snapped finally having the strength to make your way to him, hesitant lingering on your face, but the worry had overcome everything else.
"I'm sorry." You whispered over and over as you tried to wipe the debris and dirt that still clung to the suit he wore. Your hands were shaking at every movement you've made trying to fix the mess Tony had made out of him. Only as he finally gets a good look at your eyes did he see the unshed tears in your eyes and all the confusion and pain he was feeling all vanished away at his concern over you.
"It's okay. I promised I wouldn't be mad, didn't I?" He pointed out reassuring you, hands coming to cup your cheeks again. "Hey, don't cry. Everything is fine. I'm fine. Stark's attack is nothing, I've dealt with worse, My Love." He points out.
"If you pull a stunt as faking your death again on me, Laufeyson, I swear to God." You snapped lightly punching him on the chest.
He smiled knowing you'll be alright, he finally turned to the watching audience that had now formed. Every single member of the team, looking at him, at you, and even Tony that was close to the brink of a coronary with Pepper coming to hold the anger shaking Tony standing still ready to beat the shit out of him if he wasn't careful with what he says or what he does.
"Why him?" Tony spoke towards you, never once did he look at him and he was fine with it.
"Because I love him, Dad." You snapped at Tony. "And I have never been happier than I am with this idiot."
"I beg your pardon?" Loki questioned. He wasn't an idiot--at least not usually. Okay, he will admit he has his flaws when it comes to the every thing that comes to Midgardian's pop culture. He was trying, reading and watching as much was the past time he spends with you.
"You can't be in a relationship with that--that man. I forbid you from even dating him." Tony continued.
You smirked and only then as you slowly raised your hand, and bad slowly became worst.
"That's too bad, I'm marrying him whether you like it or not."
Loki flexed his body as the sight of Tony ready to tackle him all over again. What was he marrying into? ~ "Let me get this straight, he is your father and your mother is some random fling he had in his teens?" Sam Wilson had inquired the first one to ask question after you explain how you were related to one Tony Stark and eventually associated with Loki Laufeyson.
"Unfortunately." You responded clasping onto your father's thigh, nails digging onto him when he muttered something under his breath. "When I found out I was his kid, I was well on my way to college so I didn't bother with changing my last name. My mother wasn't as present, but she tried--she just hated the fact that I looked a little too much like my father and I wanted to give my mother's family name something to be proud of." You added.
"So all throughout the Accords, you two know each other." It was now Clint Barton that made the question.
"I was just doing my job, whatever my Dad's decision wasn't of my influence." You explained remembering the panic you had to linger on knowing how much this team meant to your father. "I had always expected him to chose you and not the government, but he continues to surprise me."
"But what about him." It was now Bruce Banner that made the questioned.
Your head turned to the man besides you. Everyone thought it would be hilarious to have the two men sit on the same coach with you being in the middle, the only one stopping any of them from killing each other. The only one that wasn't a literal God or equipped with a suit at their will, you were the mediator. great.
"I punched him the first moment I saw him." You spoke honestly, seeing the smile on your boyfriend's face before turning to the rest of the team. "His attack on New York was the reason why I had to work for the Government for a few years while I place my Firm back up."
"So you are the woman that is making my brother happy?" It was now Loki's brother, Thor that inquired. Unlike the rest of the team that had been nothing inquisitive about your identity, the God was simply happy to see you and caring less about all the things you've had to done against the team--among other things.
"I just like to keep him on his toes." You muttered, feeling the warmth now settle on your cheek. You always hope to make Loki happy, having someone actually point that out meant more to you than you would actually believe now. "He does the same to me, keeps me sane whenever I need it the most."
You smiled, feeling his cold hand rest on top of your thighs, giving you a little more strength and reassurance that things weren't as bad as you would have believed it to be, letting him and your own father know about the truth.
"Well then celebrations are in order. My brother and Lady Stark are getting married after all." Thor's booming voice eventually encourage everyone else to get back to the drinks, ignoring the fact that it would just be them now, without the initial guest that was once part of the party.
"Can I talk to him?" Tony asked suddenly making you jerk your head at your father, narrowed eyes seizing him up. "I'm not gonna hurt him--too much."
"Dad--" You warned but was halted by Loki that had now stood ready for whatever your father has dished out.
"It's fine, my Love." He assured, and followed your father away from the open area of the compound and into one of the numerous rooms.
"It's gonna be fine." Pepper was quick to replace Tony from the coach. Hand holding on to your own as the both of you watched the rest of the team in their own conversation, the earlier chaos long forgotten. They were so used to it that it doesn't even bother them anymore at this point.
"I hope so, it's gonna be a nightmare if I visit from time to time." You muttered.
"Visits?" Pepper wondered.
"I've just finishing a few case and I'm gonna take things slow." You admit knowing you were the tail end of cases now. "I'm gonna be planning a wedding and having kids soon." You explained.
"Your father's gonna take a moment to adjust to things, even Loki. But I'm sure it's all gonna work out."
"I hope so." You muttered. "I just hope he's already done with the pent up anger after his antics tonight."
Eventually, finding yourself joining the rest of the team in a round of drinks, your father and your boyfriend had finally return and not more damage could be seen in either of them from the looks of it.
"My kid's getting married and I'm paying for everything and everyone's invited." Tony announced making you jerk your head at your father then turning to Loki that looked exasperated more than anything at this point as he made a beeline towards you.
"Should I even ask what he has in mind?" You inquired.
"He has some conditions that he wanted to have before he could accept us." He explained. "Aside from the wedding that we have not even thought about yet of planning, he want you to stay in the compound on a much more permanent basis--in my apartment."
You blinked, realizing that it wasn't much but to see your father actually trying even much to Loki's expense, meant more to you now than anything. You genuinely thought he would stop this with a fight but to know that he would accept your relationship with Loki was more than you could ever ask from him after everything you've all been through.
"Any other secrets you'd like to tell me?" Loki inquired with a knowing darken look.
The array of drinks that had now rested on your stomach had now brought a much more prominent warmth because of his smoldering eyes.
"Nothing else." You assured your boyfriend with a bigger smile. Arms now wrapping around his neck. "Think you can give me a tour of the apartment?" You inquired knowing a christening would take place.
"Hey, no more PDA!" Tony scolded which ruined the moment and had you and Loki realize the very reason why Tony wanted you in the Compound. A closer eye on the both of you.
"Yes, father." Loki teased knowing in the near future Tony would be his father-in-law and Loki would be his son-in-law.
"I'm gonna kick your ass when I get the chance, Professor Snape."
So this will be your life now.

Chapter Two - Small Misunderstandings
Thursday is a strange day for you.
You were late because you went to Tony's house after school, and your movie marathons always took longer than planned.
This resulted in you both falling asleep late in his living room, and not listening to the alarm. At least Tony had a car.
The problem actually starts there.
Arriving at school in Tony's car, with his jacket on because you didn't bring one, and with him with his arm around your shoulders, just because he was saying something sarcastic in your ear, gave the impression of something very different to your classmates.
"Dude, I don't like this." You mutter as you realize the curious stares you were receiving as soon as you two entered the main building. Tony on the other hand loves the attention. But seeing your expression, he put a little distance between you both.
"Hey, relax, this school loves gossip but it's no biggie." He tries to reassure you. But his own relaxed posture ends when Pepper Potts approaches you two next, looking quite enraged.
"I should have known you weren't worth my time, Stark." She spoke before slapping the boy right across the face.
The school erupted in a buzz. You opened your mouth in surprise, and Tony rubbed his face, ready to defend himself, but Pepper was already leaving.
"I'll talk to you later, Y/N." He said before walking off after Pepper to explain himself.
Hyper Aware of the hallway watching you, you bowed your head and started walking toward the chemistry labs.
Maybe a little lesson would distract you from the embarrassment of that morning.
You were already sitting in one of the front chairs when Wanda came in, in her typical dark clothes, which seemed to make her even more pretty.
Although you had an appointment, she didn't greet you. You swallowed the sigh of dissatisfaction, that girl was so hard to understand.
You busied yourself checking your homework when not-so-slow comments from your other classmates caught your attention.
"Everyone saw them arrive together." One girl commented to her classmate. "And she's even wearing his jacket."
"They're screwing I'm sure." The other girl said. You clutched your book tightly, annoyed at the way these people seemed willing to talk about your life.
"Did you see that Pepper Potts slapped his face in the middle of the hallway?" Another classmate asked from across the room. By this point, you were sinking into your seat in shame. "I bet Stark was seeing both of them."
"He deserved the slap then."
"But how could Pepper have not noticed this before? Those two were always hanging out together. And I can understand, Tony's pretty hot."
"And quite rich too. Everyone wants to hang out with him."
You felt the stares burning behind your back, but you didn't have the courage to look.
Fortunately, the teacher arrived shortly afterwards, and dispelled the comments.
Mrs. van Dyne's classes were hard enough to occupy everyone, so you didn't have to worry about gossip during this period.
Your problem was Wanda being your partner and the cold way she treated you.
"Hey." You greeted softly as you sat down on the bench next to her after the teacher finished dividing the pairs of the day's lesson. All you got in return was a murmur and a quick, almost angry look that made you frown in confusion.
But you didn't have time to complain, because Mrs. van Dyne began to explain the day's experiment and you didn't want to do it wrong.
You had just started when Wanda spoke up:
"I was right that day."
It was low, just for you to hear, because technically you were not supposed to talk during class. But the teacher was busy with the pairs in the back of the room, and you were curious.
"About what?"
Wanda didn't look at you, focused on the colorful jars in front of her. "You and Stark really are a thing."
You chuckled in surprise, and the noise attracted the teacher's attention, but you only received a warning look.
Waiting for Mr.van Dyne to be busy again, you spoke only after a few moments.
"As I said the first time you implied something so absurd, no, Wanda. Tony and I are not a couple." You clarified, your hands and eyes busy with the experiment in front of you.
Wanda was silent, thoughtful. You figured she was just thinking about the equations, especially since when she spoke again it was to comment on the mixture you were making.
But a few moments later, she leaned toward you, and whispered against your ear, "I want you to take off this ridiculous jacket with his name on it."
You almost dropped the bottle you were holding as you felt her hand on your thigh. She squeezed once, and pulled it away, returning to her study as if nothing had happened.
With your heart racing, you turned your head incredulously toward her. "What's wrong with you?"
You questioned between teeth, but Wanda just gave you a neutral look, and went back to writing. You clenched your jaw, and closed her notebook tightly. "I'm talking to you!"
"Is everything okay around here girls?" The teacher interrupted seriously. You answered before Wanda.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Van Dyne," you said. "I was just asking a question, and Wanda was being a bitch about it, as usual."
"Fuck you." Wanda attacked, making you let out an incredulous laugh.
"I'd rather you do that."
You returned the response without thinking. The room let out a chorus of whistles and laughter, and the teacher frowned.
It was the first time you had ever seen Wanda blush, and the image stuck in your head all the way to detention.
"That's unlikely." That was the first thing Professor Fury said to you when he saw you standing in his door. "Are you sure you are in the right classroom, Miss Y/L/N?"
"Unfortunately, yes." You muttered, handing him the detention note that the Chemistry teacher wrote for you.
Fury read it, and raised his eyebrow. "Inappropriate language during class? What did you do, swear out loud?"
"I prefer not to say." You muttered, shyly now, remembering what you had the nerve to say in the middle of the class.
Fury laughed, giving you passage into the room.
It was practically empty to your happiness. But Fury didn't leave you alone. He made a note in his notebook, and came over to talk to you right away.
"Look, it's your first time here, so I'm going to overlook it." He said. "Because of your track record and the competition, I won't put it on the books. But you'll have to promise me that you won't cause trouble in class again, okay?"
"Of course, Professor Fury." You spoke immediately. "That was a misunderstanding. It must be the stress, because of finals."
Fury gave you a sympathetic look. "If you want, you can talk to the therapist later. She has great exercises for stress relief, and most senior students need them."
You just nodded in understanding, and Fury went back to his chair.
At least he let you study for trivia during detention time.
--//--
When you left Fury's room, the whole school already knew what had happened in chemistry class.
You could tell by the giggles in the hallways, and the comments. And also because when you went to use the bathroom before the break, someone had written "y/l/n is sleeping with all the hotties in this school" on the stall you entered.
Tony approached you at the outside tables, looking happier than he did earlier.
"From the look on your face, you worked things out with Pepper." You spoke, and he smiled as you nodded.
"Of course I did, I'm irresistible."
You laughed, returning your attention to your snack. Tony sat down in the chair in front of you.
"A little bird told me you got a detention today." He started, but you kept eating. "I thought it was a lie, because there's no way the flawless report card lady is going to detention."
You sighed, and finished chewing. "It was a silly argument, Tony. With Wanda."
He propped his chin on his hand, looking at you curiously. "That's odd. You guys always argue, you've never received detention for it."
You pressed your lips together before you spoke. "She said fuck you, and I said I'd rather you do that."
It took half a second for Tony to burst into laughter. He laughed so hard that the students who passed by your desk cast curious glances at you.
You rolled your eyes, and poked him in the ribs under the table. "Are you done?"
He wiped away tears of laughter, before speaking. "I can't believe you said that."
"Neither can I." You returned. "I don't have the heart to look Mrs. van Dyne in the face ever again."
Tony laughed, shaking his head. "I thought you guys were cool, even scheduled a date. What happened?"
"Tony, stop it." You countered. "I already told you it's not a date. Steve asked us to review some content together for the competition. Wanda just made a joke."
"And you didn't contradict her." He argued with a smile. "And I haven't even mentioned what happened the last time you two were alone."
"First of all, that was a mistake. How many times do I have to say this?
"Until you believe it, I suppose."
You tapped him on the shoulder, and he grinned, stealing one of your fries.
"Nothing is going to happen between me and Wanda, okay?" you warn. "We are simply incompatible."
Tony lets out a laugh, chewing his french fry. "Sure, two nerds who like trivia and sitcons, so different." He sneered, causing you to frown.
"Wait, how do you know Wanda likes sitcoms?"
He shrugged, smiling, "She's friends with Nat."
"And?"
"And I talk to other people." He jokes, making you roll your eyes. He sighs at your insistent look. "Okay, maybe, just maybe, I asked Nat some questions about Wanda."
"Why on earth would you do that?"
"Because you like her."
You gasped. "No, I don't."
Tony muttered, stealing another potato. "And since we're best friends, I wanted to find out some things for you, so you're welcome."
You slapped his hand to get him to stop stealing your food. "Tony, what did you say to Natasha?"
He smiled, shrugging. "I didn't give away your crush, relax."
"I don't have a crush."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." He returned. "But just clarifying, I told Nat that I knew someone who was into her friend. And that I wanted to know some things in common so I could tell that friend what to talk about with Wanda."
You began to feel despair growing in your chest, and you took a deep breath. "Tony, my beloved friend of the heart, please tell me that you didn't use pronouns when asking your question."
Tony frowned. "What? What do you mean?"
"Tell me you didn't say 'she' or 'her' when talking about this hypothetical friend."
The boy let out a confused laugh, "I couldn't?"
"Shit." You sighed, burying your face in your hands for a moment. "I swear, Tony. I'm going to kill you."
"Hey, hey, what's the matter?"
"I'm your only female friend you idiot, that's the problem!" You returned in despair. "Oh my god, Natasha definitely realize it. And she'll tell Wanda, and she'll have another reason to tease me. This is a disaster."
"Y/N, come on, it's not that bad." He tried. "Now at least you guys can be more honest with each other."
"You're an idiot, Tony." You returned annoyed, starting to gather your things. Your hunger faded. "I don't have anything to be honest about with that girl, because I'm not hiding anything."
"Y/N, hey, I'm sorry I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay." You cut in irritation. "See you later."
Tony had sent you a few messages throughout the day, apologizing, but you were too busy avoiding Wanda at all costs.
Fortunately, the only class you had with her that day was chemistry. You were so happy with your luck that you completely forgot that you had made an appointment with her after class.
After last period, Steve greeted you in the hallway, and you remembered, almost knocking your backpack to the floor when the realization hit you.
Shit, shit, shit.
It was as if you could guess that Wanda already knew about Tony and Natasha's conversation when you saw her leaving the second floor Geography room and your gazes met. She said goodbye to her classmate who was with her, and came walking toward you.
You took a deep breath, trying to calm your heartbeat and look as cool as you could, leaning against the wall and crossing your arms. Since the day had warmed up, you were holding Tony's jacket.
"Hey, trouble girl." Wanda joked as she reached you, you almost couldn't believe her playful manner.
"Hi, Wanda."
"What did you want to talk to me about?"
"I..."
"Mrs.Maximoff have a moment?" It was Professor Fury who interrupted you, coming from the hallway behind Wanda.
The brunette gave you a wink, and turned to speak to the professor.
You didn't mean to, but you could hear the whole conversation from where you were waiting.
"It's good news, Wanda. I just got the answer from that NYU scout I mentioned to you." Fury narrated, and you had to control yourself not to widen your eyes. "He said he watched your performance online in the semi final. And he'll be here on Friday."
"My god, that's incredible!" Wanda returned excitedly. You felt your chest heat up. You were used to few versions of Wanda. The angry, the know-it-all, and the one who competed with you. Happy Wanda made you flustered.
"Yeah and don't waste this chance, eh?" Fury continued. "I hope you play well on Friday."
"We will." She spoke, and thanked Fury. The man smiled, and gave her a wink before walking off toward the hallway.
You almost melted in your spot when Wanda turned to you again, and her bright smile was still on her face.
"Damn, sorry, I'm so excited." She comments half-heartedly, shaking her head to stop her silly grin, "What did you want to say to me?"
"It's nothing that important." You said. "It's just that Steve asked us to go over some quizzes. Before the final."
She raised her eyebrow, leaning on the wall beside you.
"Yeah, and why?"
You didn't know why, but you were nervous under Wanda's evaluative gaze. "I guess because you missed the last practice." You try, and that answer doesn't take away any reaction from her. "And also because I got some of your topic questions wrong."
“Poor Y/N, it happens darling” She mocked with a smile. You bit your tongue, finding it amusing in the way she repeated the tease from history class with you. "So this is about you needing my help?"
"I didn't say that."
She grinned, and moved closer. You swallowed dryly, watching her raise her hand to Tony's jacket that you were holding.
"Thank you for taking this off."
"Why do you care about a jacket?"
She bit her lip, and you looked immediately at the action. Wanda smiled, finding it amusing in your lack of control.
"Why do you think?"
You swallowed dryly, shaking your head. "I have no idea."
She moved even closer, and you held your breath. But she did not break the distance between your mouths, sidestepped at the last moment, and whispered in your ear, "If you're going to carry a name around, I want it to be mine."
You bowed your head, feeling your face heat up. Wanda pulled away, and let out a giggle. "You're so cute."
"And you're annoying." You returned embarrassed. "Let's finish this for once."
"Lead the way."
You sighed, ignoring your wobbly legs to walk down the stairs toward the study room on the ground floor.
The school was emptying, but during senior year, it was common for some students to stay to study or train for games.
You found the study room practically empty, with the exception of two other groups scattered around the couches. Since you didn't know any of them, you just went quietly to one of the end tables, Wanda within reach.
To calm your nerves, you sat down in the chair opposite her. Wanda was amused, rolling her eyes, but said nothing.
You both put your backpacks on the floor, and took out your notebooks. You were looking for Steve's questionnaire while Wanda prepared the question cards.
It was strange how the perfect harmony happened so naturally.
When you were finished, she had Geography and History cards for you, and you had Physics and Math questions for her. The general knowledge ones were to be drawn among you.
"Okay, let's get started." You said.
Everything was neutral and under control for two hours and twenty-eight minutes.
You were hungry after studying for so long, but Wanda was in the middle of a question and raised her eyebrow, thinking you were evading because you didn't know the answer.
"We can take a break if you answer correctly." She said with a cocky smile. You rolled your eyes, giving a short laugh.
"I'm not going to starve myself just so you can win, Wanda."
"Oh, so you admit you don't know the answer?" She teased, but you only laughed, getting up.
"I won't even deny or affirm that."
She laughed. Short and sweet, and true. You swallowed dryly, thinking it was the first time you had ever heard the sound for real. And that you had enjoyed it much more than you should have.
The snack machine in the study room was old, but it had great options.
You were deciding between salty snacks or muffins when you felt Wanda's presence behind you.
"Option seven is delicious." She commented and you think you are imagining the heat eradicating from her body.
Your fingers trembled a little when you went to press the button for the suggested option, and you hoped she wouldn't notice.
But of course she did. And she sighed behind you, her breath hitching against your neck and making your whole body shiver.
Only when two other students got up from their chairs, the noise made Wanda step away. You bent down to pick up your lunch quickly, and returned to your seat, not giving Wanda a chance to say anything else.
She stayed at the machine for a while longer before returning to her seat in front of you.
You ate in silence, option seven was really good and seemed vegetarian. You wondered if this meant that Wanda was too.
Unable not to look at her, you felt your face heat up when she noticed and smiled, leaning on the table. "Is there something you want to tell me?"
"No." You retorted stubbornly, turning your attention back to your food.
Wanda muttered, and also went back to eating. After a few minutes, she asked, "Are you ready to answer the question yet, or are you going to keep stalling me."
You bit your lips to keep from smiling, rolling your eyes with amusement. "Damn it, Wanda, I wasn't dodging the question."
"I don't believe you." She returned in the same tone.
You chewed for a moment before answering. "You asked 'When was the first American dollar printed', right?"
She confirmed with a grumble. You smiled.
"The answer is 1862."
"Look at that, someone did their homework." She joked, making you roll your eyes in amusement.
"And your question, are you going to answer it, or are you going to pretend you need to go to the bathroom?" You tease, causing her to laugh softly.
She leans back against the chair, and gestures for you to speak. You blink a moment because she looks so hot right now.
"Yeah, um, right..." You mumble half-heartedly, pushing the impure thoughts away to reach for her question card. "What is the prefix meaning 10?"
Wanda leaned over the table again, staring intensely at you. You clutched the paper tightly, watching her raise her hand to your face. She ran her finger across your cheek, wiping away some sweet cream you hadn't noticed, and put her thumb back in her mouth, smiling in a corner. "Like I said, delicious." She whispers after tasting the cream.
Your body heated up in places not at all appropriate for a study session, and all you could do was stare at her mouth discourteously. Wanda relaxed against the chair again, and smiled. "Can you repeat the question? I got distracted."
Blinking a few times, you cleared your throat. "S-sure."
You repeated, and Wanda sighed before answering, "I don't know."
All this, and she didn't even know the answer. You swallowed hard, realizing that Wanda was enjoying the way she was affecting you.
You needed to gain some advantage.
The room finally emptied, the last group of students left the room when the clock ticked half past five.
It was getting cold again, and you remembered Tony's jacket, and the way Wanda had behaved in the hallway.
She was sorting through new questions when you started to put on the jacket, and she looked at you seriously.
"What are you doing?" She questioned with her jaw locked.
"I'm cold."
"Stop." You asked, and you swallowed dryly, but put the jacket back on the chair. Before you could complain about the weather again, Wanda pulled out of her backpack a sweatshirt. "You can return it anytime."
You nodded completely cluelessly. As you took the sweatshirt, Wanda's scent invaded your senses and you wanted to close your eyes, but her watchful gaze made you maintain your posture.
Your goal was to gain an advantage, but you ended up losing even more ground by wearing one of her clothes.
Or maybe not, you thought, as you noticed the slight redness that appeared on Wanda's cheeks when you, now dressed in her red, comfortable sweatshirt, looked at her again.
You couldn't resist, and with the same teasing tone she used earlier, you asked as you noticed her gaze on you, "Is there something you want to tell me?"
"Only that you look hot in my clothes."
"How classy, Maximoff." You returned wryly, even though your heart was racing at the compliment. She smiled, and returned her attention to her books.
The study session went on for another twenty minutes until the questions ran out.
You found yourself wanting to prolong the moment, and ignored all your brain's warnings as you spoke, "Your next question is 'What's your favorite useless fact?'
Wanda looked at you for only a second, then turned her gaze back to the cards in her lap. You were about to say you were just joking, thinking she was ready to tease you about your attempt to make a conversation, when she simply answered "Fingernails grow faster on your dominant hand." like any other practice question, and waited for you to continue.
You bit back a smile, and relaxed against your chair. "How did you discover that?"
Wanda sighed softly, and leaned across the table, resting her chin on one hand and extending the other over the metal. "Well, you know, I use my fingers quite often, and I've noticed that these nails grow faster than the ones on my other hand." She counted innocently, and held up two fingers at face height.
You choked softly, feeling your face heat up as you understood what she was implying. Wanda let out a giggle.
"I'm messing with you!" She laughed. "I read it somewhere."
"Oh, okay." You mumbled clumsily, looking away.
Wanda laughed one last time before asking, "Well now it's my turn, 'How was your first kiss?"
"Wow, that's pretty straightforward." You mock with amusement, Wanda smiles but waits for your answer. You sigh. "Well, I was 15, and it was with an old friend."
"It was with a girl?"
"Yes, Wanda."
She frowned slightly, and you looked at her curiously. "And did you enjoy it?"
"Well, I didn't have much to compare it to at the time."
But Wanda didn't laugh, looking almost tense. "Was it better than the way I kissed you on Friday?"
Oh, there it is.
You swallowed dryly, and gave a breathless laugh. "Not even close."
Expecting her usual cocky smile, you blushed over the sweet way she looked at you.
"Good to know." She comments, relaxing back against the chair.
You clear your throat, and pretend to read the question on the card as you stated, "What was your favorite Halloween costume as a child?"
She smiled, joining in the game as she picked up the blank cards in front of her as if they had answers on it. "Witch. I have pictures of at least six halloween wearing the same costume."
"I'd like to see that one day." You comment and she smiles, nodding as if making a mental note about it.
You spend the next few minutes exchanging questions unrelated to the content. Good thing you had already finished studying.
Wanda had just answered a question about her favorite hobby, confirmed as watching sitcoms as Tony told you, when she decided to mess with you a little.
“What do you think about friends with benefits?”
Wanda was not a very subtle person, that much is clear. You wanted to laugh, but just pretended to be thoughtful before answering. "It depends on the friend."
"If it was me."
Ignoring the way your heart sped up, you smiled as you looked at her. "We're not friends."
Wanda licked her lips. "What do you think of enemies with benefits then?"
You know she can notice the redness on your face, but no chance of you letting her win. "That's not a thing."
"We could be the first."
You let out a breathless laugh, shaking your head. Wanda didn't hesitate and asked again, "So, what do you think?"
"I think it's no longer your turn to ask."
She bit back a smile, but didn't insist. You took a deep breath earlier as you thought of another question.
"How many siblings do you have?"
That changed the mood of the game. Wanda was almost surprised.
"Two." She said simply. You thought she was going to continue with another question, but she added. "And I'm a twin."
"Wait, what?" You let out impressed. "I didn't know that. That's cool."
She shrugged, staring at you. "I guess so."
But you couldn't help yourself, curiosity surfacing. "And how come I never knew that? They don't study here, right?"
She denies with her head, and you straighten your posture quickly, "Sorry, I didn't mean to be nosy-"
"It's okay." She cuts in with a laugh. "My twin's name is Pietro, you saw him yesterday."
"Oh, that 's true."
"And my younger sister's name is Lorna." She continues almost shyly. "Sorry, I don't usually talk about them."
"Why not?" You let out, and add quickly. "If you want to tell me of course."
Wanda smiles, shrugging. "We're not that close, and I don't have many friends here, I guess. The last person I mentioned it to was Natasha." She clarifies. "It's because my parents are divorced, and Lorna is another woman's daughter, too. Each child lives in a house."
"Oh, I see." You mutter, surprised at the information. Wanda clears her throat.
"Is it my turn to ask?"
"Yeah." You say. She sighs, and looks around, as if thinking of another question.
And then she swallows dry, and has an almost sad smile on her face as she looks back at you. "When did you know you hated me?"
Your stomach gave a turn and you looked away to your lap.
Wanda sighed again, and murmured, "I can change the question."
"No, that's fine." You spoke raising your face. You took a deep breath before speaking. "First grade, on a Tuesday."
Wanda squeezed her eyes shut, appraising you. "Be more specific?"
"One question at a time, Maximoff."
"Fuck the rules, I want to know now."
You bit your lower lip, Wanda was looking at you in a way that made your body tremble. You took another deep breath, and replied, "It was mascot day. I was late, and the teacher thought I was not coming . You took my place when it was my time to take the rabbit home, and I had waited all month for that."
Wanda locked her jaw, circling the table with her finger for a second as if absorbing his words. "That's your motive?"
"You looked at me as if you had beaten me somehow." You continue in earnest. "Since that day we haven't stopped competing in everything. But I think that was the moment."
"You hate me because our elementary school teacher made a mistake? For a stupid rabbit you took home the other week?" She accused incredulously, and you also glared at her in irritation. "Seriously, how old are you?"
"And what the fuck was your motive madam maturity?" You sneered angrily. Wanda laughed, shaking her head.
"You being my first crush."
You frowned in confusion, but Wanda was already gathering the materials.
"No, fuck this, you're not running away again." You warned getting up and going around the table to get in her way before she left. "What did you mean by-"
"I like you, you idiot!" She interrupted with the confession, knocking all the air out of your lungs. "I always have, ever since I met you. You're annoying and stubborn, but you're brilliant and funny, and fucking beautiful. But I can't believe you hate me for such a petty reason."
"I-I..."
"I was just playing your game all these years!" She returned annoyed. "You wanted to compete? I wanted your attention. I did everything I could to get you to notice me, and I could affect you the way you affect me!"
"Wanda, I had no idea, I-"
"Of course not!" she exploded incredulously. "You were busy hating me for something stupid thing that happened in first grade! I can't believe I fell in love with you."
Wanda's eyes were filled with tears. You felt like the worst person in the world. It was the first time you had ever seen her cry, and that was bad enough in itself, but it was even worse because it was your fault.
"I'm sorry." You tried, but she shook her head, wiped her eyes with the sleeve of her shirt, and went around you.
"Save it." She retorted. "We're done here. I'll see you at the competition, and then never again. Just like you wanted."
With this, she left the room.
You didn't realize you were crying until the tears rolled down your collarbone.
Taking a deep breath to calm yourself, you began to gather your things, replaying the whole conversation in your head.
You called Tony to ask if he could see you, but sobbed as soon as he answered and asked how the study session had gone.
"I'll pick you up in ten minutes." He warned before hanging up.
You stood there with your backpack hanging, watching the fine drizzle that began to fall and matched your mood very well. Wanda's sweater warmed your body, but you only felt worse when you realized it.

Bad Dreams - Bucky Barnes x Avenger (f)reader
Summary: You and Bucky are adjusting to civilian life after the Blip, some nights he needs you more then he realizes.
Warning: bit o angst, soft Bucky, fluff
Masterlist
Tumblr media
It had been a long fucking five years alone, sure you had Nat and Steve around at the Avengers Facility. But no matter how much time you spent with them doing whatever to keep your mind busy, at the end of the day, you were undoubtedly alone. You liked it that way at one point in your complicated life as an Avenger, but after the blip, you absolutely despised it.
No one had expected what would have happened to be so terrible and tragic, or it to even go the way that it did. You had never even heard of Thanos or what the fuck kind of weirdass monsters could exist from other parts of the galaxy until they showed up knocking. How rude huh.
Life was peaceful before hand, well for the most part; you were an Avenger, someone who was part of the team. A conjurer of flame and ash, a Phoenix held within that was not afraid to use your power, and you used it well.
Then as per usual, shit went down and low and behold you met the one and only James Buchanan Barnes, Steve’s old friend with the metal arm and troubling history. Not to mention a face to die for, or at least one that would cause a bit of a chaotic scuffle between your two friends. They clearly had other priorities apart from yours at the time which was keep Steve out of jail, don’t burn anyone, and refrain from flirting with his 90 something year old friend. You tried your best in most of those areas. Most of them.
Nonetheless, you fell hard and fast for the blue eyed man, and him the same for you, his feisty little firecracker with a heart as big and bright as a dragons. So when he went to Wakanda to lie low and get some much needed help. You followed.
With a heartfelt goodbye and a lasting kiss, he went under for a couple long weeks until Shuri and her expert team of scientists were able to fix what those bastards at Hydra had done to him.
For a short yet blessedly peaceful amount of time did you and your dark haired lover live safely within the Wakandan borders. In a small and beautiful little village by a lake, a hut all your own to shelter you from the heat and rain that poured hard onto the earth, and most wonderfully of all you had Bucky.
Life was simple for the first time in a long time, you spent the days helping out the locals and teaching the children how to properly swing a stick in defense, you know completely normal leisure activities. Spending the evenings making a big fire to tell stories under and cook the best food in Wakanda.
And the nights? You spent those wrapped up in Bucky’s arm, although most times you would be the big spoon which he loved more then anything in the whole world. Telling you it’s not just because you’re naturally warm, but that he’s been admittedly a bit touch starved from the years alone and lost. And for that you would always hold him closer.
Then that fateful day came crashing into your lives like a waterfall against rock, your friends had shown up claiming some being called Thanos was coming to take a stone out of Vision’s head. Yeah that was a new one.
The battle wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either, you were able to save many lives by scorching the beasts that pursed onward. Letting whips of flame slash hard against the enemy with great skill and force from your bending. Then the world seemed to still, and the wind swayed the trees oddly.
Then HE came, the Titan from another world, he threw down all in his path without an ounce of mercy or remorse. You and Wanda were so close, so damn close to stopping him, but then he threw you back with the whole force of the gauntlet and a moment later Vision was dead.
Your head was bleeding and a fresh scar had marked your jaw in a bloody red slash from the impact. Though your mind didn’t have time to register nor care as Thanos abruptly disappeared into oblivion, leaving a confused Thor in his wake. Much like the rest of the Avengers.
Then to your horror, one by one, your friends began to turn to ash and dust. Gone. You raced for Bucky nearby, praying to who’d ever listen to spare him or you for that matter. You just needed ten more seconds and then you could have held him one last time, touched his precious skin, ran your fingers through his long dark locks.
Looked into his ocean blue eyes, but no, the universe laughed as you gasped in panic, then it snickered as you screamed. Cheering you on as you sobbed in a cyclone of your own fire until the ground was scorched to shriveled dry earth. And no more tears could fall, your throat raw and heart broken in two.
Your world was gone, a memory forever kept locked inside your heart and soul. He was gone, he was your world, Bucky made your life better and you his.
For the coming months you were a mess, an angry and frustrated wreck of a person. Functioning by sheer will power and Natasha to keep you afloat in your new dreary little world of nothingness. You envied Steve for his ability to keep most of his shit together, and where almost enraged by Tony who had everything still intact. Pepper and a child on the way, how cruel the universe appeared.
You would wake up in the middle of the night sweating, your heart racing a mile a minute and usually part of the wall behind you would be burnt and blackened. You never set fire to anything thank god, but fuck, your heart hurt so much.
You wanted to scream most days, but as one year rolled into two and then three, the dull dreary ache in your body subdued to a tiny flicker of sadness. It became almost nonexistent during the day as you went about Avenger business, only to burn hot and angry at night.
You wanted to move on and forget, but you couldn’t, he was too important. They all didn’t deserve to go like that, none of them. And so another year passed, then it was year five since the blip, more months passed on. Until out of nowhere something or perhaps someone miraculous lit the way into a new sense of hope.
Resulting in the return of everyone who had been lost before, including your Bucky. And from that moment after the battle, when at long last you had finally found him, you knew life would never be the same.
——
Rain pours relentlessly from outside your apartment window, a rhythmic pitter patter near your bedside that aids in keeping you asleep and unbothered for the time being. No sooner do you reach the climax of your dream that consists of you being chased by a giant monarch butterfly with no weapon but a sandbox plastic shovel, do you wake. Strange dream.
All your senses flooding back into you as you feel for your lover in the darkness, your eyes still closed as you do so. Your hand slides across the crinkled bedsheets to no avail, the spot next to you is undeniably empty and rather cold.
oh, Bucky.
Cracking one eye open you glance at the alarm clock where it reads 1:10am in big red letters, illuminating the nightstand that it sits on. You take in a deep breath and roll onto your back to stare up at the ceiling, this has become a reoccurring event with Bucky in the following months since his return.
In Wakanda things were different, it was like a nice prolonged vacation away from all your problems and responsibilities of the world. Now, you two have an apartment somewhere in New York City all your own. Bucky goes to therapy and does his best to integrate back into his new role as a civilian while you work as an Avenger part time. The other half used for being a supporting loving girlfriend to Bucky and a hacker on the side for extra cash in the bank.
You get it though, he’s adjusting the best he’s able to manage right now, and even when he swears the nightmares are gone for good. You know him too well to believe that shit, you can see it in his eyes, he may have been a master assassin at one point. Now he’s with a skilled and almost equally as weathered Avenger who’s seen her share of people really going through it.
It’s not like you were doing any better, you’d wake up screaming in the dead of night from another nightmare involving losing Bucky again. That only lasted for a month or so, but still, it sucked and hurt every damn time. So you get it, nightmares can be a bitch.
Blinking the bleariness out of your eyes, you yawn into the darkness and take a moment to listen to the sound of the rain. It’s peaceful and calm, and though you’d like nothing more then to roll over and fall back into the dark comfortable void of sleep. You long to see Bucky again, even if you saw him not even two hours ago.
Pulling the blanket off of your body, you slowly sit up and face the blurry window that overlooks the glowing city, well more so the park close by. Pushing some hair out of your face, you stand and take a brief moment to stretch before letting your right hand emit a beautiful blue flame.
It proptly lights up the dark room into a shadowed yet still visible one, with a lazy proud smile, you move for the opened bedroom door. Your flame lights the way down the hall until you wander past the tiny kitchen and stop in your living room to the sound of heavy breathing coming from the far end.
You give a lopsided smirk to no one in particular as you pad over to the man who’s sweaty and shirtless on the wooden apartment floor in nothing but his boxers and a single blanket that’s not covering much. Well he sure looks like a hot mess, your hot mess that is.
He gives you an apologetic glance before staring tiredly back at the nearby wall. You extinguish your flame and gently nudge his leg with your sock, “How’s the floor?” You ask with a tinge of humor to lighten the mood.
He lets out a breathy laugh before looking back up at you, “Solid.” Quips Bucky in reference to the hard floor and perhaps his take on the makeshift bed, always one for a bit of humor huh.
Chuckling you crouch down to better meet his shadowed gaze, “I guess so,” You mutter with a shrug, “....afraid I might burn you in my sleep?”
Shaking his head, he gifts you the flash of a smile, “No. Not this time Y/N.”
You smile back before sitting down next to him, you look down at his hand before reaching out to take it without any resistance, “I know it’s the nightmares Bucky.” You whisper softly, your eyes sincere and true, “You don’t have to hold it all in okay, I don’t.....I don’t want you to do that.”
Letting out a reluctant sigh, Bucky frowns, “I know Y/N....I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry, I just love you too much to see you hurting. I’ve missed you for what feels like a hundred goddamn years and I don’t want you to slip away from me..” You add with a sad smile, “Never again.”
Squeezing your hand gently, Bucky nods, “You’re not going to lose me okay. I promise you that much alright. I love you Y/N.” And he means every word.
“That’s good then. Can you at least tell me something to ease your mind from what’s bothering you?” You ask with a hopeful smile, “Please. Remember what the therapist talked about with speaking your thoughts and feelings....it’s like emptying a treasure chest or some shit.”
“Right.” Laughs Bucky, “Can’t say you’re going to find any gold in here.”
“Shut up I don’t care.” You muse with a shrug, “I’m here to listen.”
“As the lady wishes.” Retorts Bucky with a half-assed bow that caused you to break out into a small smile at his cheekiness.
“Wait.” You pause.
“What?”
“Can we sit on the couch for this I wanna lay next to you.”
Rolling his eyes, Bucky fakes his annoyance as you patiently await his answer, “Fine.” He confirms, quickly standing up and taking you with him, “But you gotta lay on me I’m kinda cold now.”
Bucky falls onto the large comfortable couch with a dramatic huff as he pulls you onto his shirtless body, “Weren’t you just all sweaty?” You wonder with a raised brow as he quickly wraps his arms around your waist.
“Yep.”
“Gross.”
Bucky chuckles, “Well you’re making me talk about my feelings.”
“That’s because you won’t talk about them with your actual therapist.” You sass back.
“I hate it when you’re right.” Mutters Bucky into your cheek as you snicker at his adorably dramatic self.
“I think your brain short circuited and misplaced the word hate for absolutely love and adore.”
“Maybe.” Adds Bucky as he steals a sweet kiss, “I’m still working through things you know.”
“Okay smartass. Now tell me what’s on your mind.”
His chest rises as he takes a deep heavy sigh, he stares out the nearby window that keeps the rainy city from being bothersome. You can’t completely see his face due to the darkened room, but you’re close enough to see the way his face turns into a frown.
Suddenly you think maybe you shouldn’t have bugged him to speak about his nightmares. Until he purses his lips together and glances those big beautiful blue eyes down at you, the flash of a smile revealing itself in a split second.
To give him a bit more confidence and perhaps to calm his nerves, do you reach a hand up to gently caress his stubbled cheek, “Was it the Starks again?” You whisper softly in question, knowing how much it still haunts him. Among all the others.
Closing his eyes, he leans into your touch, “Not this time.” Mutters Bucky before taking that hand in his as he rests his head against the couches puffy arm. “Someone else.....Someone who got in the way. Wrong place wrong time.”
“oh.” Slips from your mouth quietly, you’re not sure what else to say, but you’re still hoping he’ll speak a little more about it. “Do they have anything to do with your list?”
It’s a shot in the dark, but you’re well aware of Bucky’s goal to make amends with his past and the people tied with it, maybe someone might be linked to it by chance.
Bucky takes another weighted breath, you can just sense how terrible he feels about this person. “Bucky take your time, it’s okay I’m right here.”
Looking for a positive sign you watch as he closes his eyes once again before moving his head a little bit so that it rests against yours, “I know....it’s just, difficult.”
“Always is.”
“Yeah.”
Kissing your forehead, his flesh arm wraps around your waist as he makes himself more comfortable before continuing, “I was in some government building at night.....tasked with eliminating some special high end target. I finished the mission in under a minute, but uh....there was a civilian who saw everything.”
“Oh shit.”
“Yeah.” Mumbles Bucky against your skin as he takes a moment to gather himself, soon he shifts underneath you once more before letting out a soft breath, “I shot him.”
A bang of sadness washes over you in that brief second and then a sparking anger for what Hydra had forced him to do. You keep silent and wait for Bucky to continue on with his story.
“That guy I killed. He um....he uh, he didn’t deserve that....but I had to.” Bucky’s voice is shaky as he puts his words together, “And you know what’s the worst about this?”
“I’d like not to imagine it but I know you should tell me.”
“You remember Yori?”
“Of course, he takes us to that great sushi place sometimes.”
Bucky squeezes his eyes shut as he hugs you tighter against his bare chest for some kind of comfort, his voice nothing but a regretful whisper, “I killed his son.”
Your eyes soften as he reveals who this mystery civilian was, “Damn.”
“Out of all the people in this world and I meet the man who’s son I murdered for Hydra.”
“That’s almost a sick joke.”
“I know. God I’m so fucked up.”
“No.” You protest softly while he hides his face in your neck, “I know you’ve heard this a thousand times but that wasn’t you. It wasn’t the real James Buchanan Barnes alright, you didn’t have a choice. Those fuckers took that away from you.”
“I know Y/N, but I still did it.”
“Bucky look at me.” You ask kindly, to your genuine surprise he lifts his head from your neck to look into your determined gaze, “You’re not the only one here who was manipulated and had their freedom taken from them by Hydra. I’ve done terrible things too, but you know what? We were never truly ourselves then, they molded us into their weapons and now.....they can never touch us again. You understand me?”
Tears whell up in Bucky’s shimmering eyes at your truthfully honest words, he had temporarily forgotten that you were once an unwilling participant in Hydra’s mind stone experimentations many years ago.
“I understand....” Mutters Bucky as he swallows hard, “what would I be without you?”
Giving him a small tearful smile, you gently wipe away a stray tear from his cheek, “A little bit more alone I’d say.”
“You’re a hundred times braver then me you know that? I couldn’t image five years without you and these fucking nightmares.” Admits Bucky as he moves to rest his head in the crook of your neck, “I’d go insane.”
Appreciating this close proximity and his heartfelt confession, you smile into the darkness, “I think I did. Thing is about shitty situations like that....life moves on and finds a way. I have you now, I thought I would lose you forever.”
“I’m glad you didn’t.”
“Me too.”

You were too tired to keep your eyes open, your body kept on swaying until you finally gave up making your head land on Bucky’s shoulder. His conversation with Sam getting interrupted when he felt your arms hug his metal arm.
Sharon had a smirk on her face and decided to start getting prepared for a meeting she had. “I have stuff to do so why don’t you guys enjoy the party? And don’t cause any trouble.” She said before leaving the room.
Sam stood up and began walking towards the door with Zemo following him. “You coming?” He asked his new partner.
“Uh, yeah, just let me lay her down.” Bucky answered and took your head carefully, guiding your body to lay properly on the couch, you were still holding onto his arm so he took one of the matching cushions of the couch and gave it to you so your arms could let go of his.
He took his jacket off and decided to cover you with it, making sure your back and arms were under it. He softly smiled and placed a piece of hair behind your ear so it wouldn’t tickle your face.
After that he turned around and saw both Sam and Zemo looking at him a subtle smirk. “What?”
“I’ve never seen you being so gentle.” He mocked gaining a groan from Bucky. “What’s up with that? Since the whole mission started you have been acting weird, is it because of Stark?”
“Depends on which one you’re talking about.” Bucky took one last glance at your sleeping figure.
“Her.”
Sighing, Bucky massaged his temple. “I need a drink first.”
*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。*・゚。
Back on Zemo’s private jet you decided to give everyone the cold shoulder, angry at them for leaving you without saying anything or at least leaving a note. You could’ve helped them with the hundreds of mercenaries that attacked them. Zemo placed a plate with food on it in front of you and gave you a small smile, trying to make you feel at ease.
Walking down the street with Zemo like nothings wrong made you feel on edge. Thinking that maybe the new copy of Steve would appear and make things harder but you kept on wishing that it wouldn’t be the case. Zemo lead the group to a unknown building.
“I’m gonna go on a walk.” Bucky said out of nowhere.
“Take Y/N with you, don’t what could happen.” Sam said and took your shoulder.
You rolled your eyes. “Sam, he can take care of himself.” Taking his hand off your shoulder you began walking to the buildings door, leaving everyone behind.
“See you guys in a bit.”
He came back after a few minutes and started talking about how the wakandians are looking for Zemo.
All of this mess made you wonder why were you there in the first place. Sure, you had nothing to do since your father died and also coming back after 5 years, didn’t help at all. But maybe you were there because Sam called, he was the only one who tried to search for you when you decided to disappear.
“Your TT would be proud of you.” Zemo’s voice brought you back into reality after watching their whole conversation and play it on your mind.
“What’s a TT?” You asked with furrowed eyebrows.
“Whatever, we need to get moving.” Sam spoke dismissing the question you made.
You weren’t sure if the plan would work, searching for Donya was harder that you could think of and it definitively made you wonder what could go wrong if anyone from the group made a mistake. And losing your powers didn’t help the situation at all. But that’s a secret. Nobody knows you lost them and the most important thing, nobody knows you’re slowly dying. So maybe that’s one of the reasons you decided to help Sam, doing a last mission until your body gives up. You just hoped you get to finish the mission and not die in the middle of it.
But now, you had to worry about another thing. And that is John Walker, getting himself in things he doesn’t understand nor is involved in. Waiting for Sam next to him wasn’t the best moment in your life, the only thing you could do was stare at him with dislike written on your face.
Feelings like your skins burned you decided to start rubbing the sides of your neck and Bucky didn’t let that pass through blind eyes.
“Are you okay?” Bucky asks with a bit of concern filling his voice.
“Uh, yeah.” You cleared your throat. “I’m probably getting sick, don’t worry.”
Before Bucky could say anything else, Walker decided to put the mission on risk and walk inside the building Sam and Karli were having a conversation. You extended your hand to hold John by the shoulder.
“Why don’t you go and take a seat? You’re going to ruin the plan if you walk inside.” You spoke, trying to hold in the pain and burning under your skin.
John pushed you and entered the building.
And just like that, the whole situation became a mess. Ruining and shouting, the only thing you had become used to in these days.
The Dora Milaje were now your only solution. And they definitely know how to make a good entrance.
“Why don’t you relax pal?” You said to John before he gets himself hurt by the Dora Milaje, but it was too late, he placed his hand on Ayo’s shoulder. Big mistake.
You decided to sit back and watch them fight, you and Zemo exchanged looks, you gave him a nod, letting him go to the bathroom and possibly run away.
“I told you to relax, it’s what you deserve for being an ass.” You spoke with mock towards John.
Before the Dora Milaje could leave, Ayo turned her head to you and extended her hand, which was holding a stick, just like the ones the Dora Milaje use but it looked different.
“Here, Shuri told me to give it to you.” You took it and placed on your back.
Now it was only Sam, Bucky and you.
You were too tired to keep going, there’s was no point in being there without powers, you could barely fight and it made you angry. But what made you feel even worse is that you didn’t know what was causing it and seeing your body fill in with different colored lines brought back some bad memories.
Tony was well-know for not sharing his feelings or thoughts. And that made it harder for you to help him. Being at a young age didn’t matter, you did understand what was happening to him, slowly dying by the toxins coming from his reactor.
Seeing the lines in his neck will always haunt you for the rest of your life. The worst part of it is that you couldn’t tell anyone about it, he made you promise not to tell Pepper or Happy and that also caused you some trauma. He made you believe you couldn’t vent out your problems to your family or friends. You didn’t have anyone. Not even Pepper. You decided not to bother her or Morgan with the “My adoptive dad died and I have no one else” act. So it was really hard to say anything to Bucky or Sam, you didn’t want them to know that your body is not the same since you fought against Thanos.
“Go to Sarah’s, I’ll tell her to receive you back at home, okay?” Sam took both of your shoulders. “You don’t look so well, let Buck and I finish this and then call me when you feel better.”
You nodded and decided to leave immediately. Before you could go, Bucky took your arm, grabbing your attention.
“Be careful, if something happens call me immediately.” He said in a serious tone. You pushed his hand off you and muttered a small yes.
Bucky’s eyes didn’t leave your figure until it disappeared behind doors. Sighing he took a seat on the coach.
“I think it’s time for you to tell me what’s happening between you and Y/N.” Sam demanded while crossing his arms.
Nodding, Bucky tapped the seat next to him, indicating Sam to sit there so he could start speaking.
“I’ve known her even before the mess at the airport started.” Bucky started to slowly speak. “Or at least her face.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Y/N, she looks like someone I used to know back in the 40s, her name was Sophia.” He explained with clear pain showing in his eyes. “Sophia and I met while I was preparing to become a soldier, she was a nurse back then.”
“What happened to her?” Sam asked with wonder running in his mind. He wanted to ask more questions about this person.
“Died of old age. I fell in love with her, but never saw Sophie again, after Steve rescued me I tried searching for her but nobody knew what happened to her and just decided not to tell anyone about it.”
“Not even Steve?”
Bucky shook his head and sighed. “When I saw Y/N back at the airport I thought my mind was playing games with me and that’s why I never touched her when Y/N and Tony decided to go against Steve and I.”
Sam patted his friends back, trying to bring him some kind of comfort but it didn’t help.
“And I’m just frustrated because I don’t know why she looks like Sophie, I asked the wakandians if they could find any information about Sophie and they found about her family, she had two kids and one of them had a girl.” Bucky bit his lips, trying to see if he could continue the story.
“You don’t have to tell me everything Buck, if it’s hard for you then you ca—“
Bucky’s voice interrupted him. “It’s fine. You see, everyone knows Tony adopted her, so it felt like there only was one answer. She had to be the daughter of Sophie’s children but then it was another death end. I recently found out that she’s not from Sophie’s family. It’s just fate I guess.”
“Maybe the destiny is giving you another chance to be with her.” Sam tried to give a good answer to him after what he said.
“I don’t think so but if it is that way, then I don’t deserve it”

The New Recruit
Summary : Y/N is working with Tony as her lab assistant. One day Thor brings in Loki to be part of the team. But the God of Mischief has a very weird way to show his affection toward Y/N. Ship/Pairing : Loki x reader Words : 3,311 TW! Mention of death
Tumblr media
“Y/N come down in the lab, I need you.” Tony called thought the intercom of the building. Y/N put down her writing book and hurried in the elevator, not wanting to make Tony wait.
It had been several months now that she was working with him. Having an engineer diploma, Y/N had been searching for a job right after. Tony had been searching -of course it was an order from Pepper- a lab assistant so he could be less in it and rest more. It was after months of researches that Tony and Pepper found Y/N. With a famous boss like Tony Stark, lots of people applied to the job but none really convinced them both. Too arrogant -which would result in a war between the assistant and the boss- too proud and with apparently ‘too much knowledge' when it wasn’t the case, the couple had rejected them all.
But one afternoon, Y/N came to apply. She was calm and sweet but she very much knew how to deal with Tony and wasn’t afraid of talking back to him when it was needed. And obviously, she was as clever as expected for the job. Pepper new that she was a rare flower and exactly what her lover needed. Since then, the two worked together very well and everyone was satisfied. “Ah, here you are. I found out what was the issue with that canon.” announced Tony.
“Then let’s get to work.” replied Y/N with a smile.
* * *
After two hours of working on the new canon for his suit, the two friends made their way back to the lounge where they finally relaxed, a drink in hand. “Y/N I need to tell you something important. I really wish I could’ve said it sooner but...I can’t wait anymore.” Tony started, scraching the back of his neck.
“Tony, you’re scaring me.”
“Well, how can I say that... Hum... Were’re gonna have a new member in the team.” Tony finally said.
“But it’s a great news! How did you find them?” Y/N asked happily.
“Let’s say that he’s an old friend of Thor.” he continued with a grimace.
“And who is it?” Y/N asked.
“Hum, Loki.”
“Wait what?”
“And he’s coming tonight.”
Obviously, Y/N was shocked. “What? Are you mad Tony? You really want to welcome the same person that destroyed New York and tried to kill you by throwing you out of your own tower?”
“I know, I know. But everyone deserves a second chance, right? Thor confirmed that he has changed and that he was under Thanos’ control at this time.” Tony explained.
“How can you know it’s the truth?” Y/N asked, still suspicious.
“We need to try. And even if he tries anything, he wouldn’t have time to say ‘kneel’ that he would be KO.” the genius stated.
Y/N sighed, she didn’t want to see that God again, but this was Tony’s choice and there was nothing she could do but accept. “I suppose I don’t have my word in this.”
Tony placed a hand on her shoulder. “Y/N, I promise everything will be fine.”
“I trust you Tony and I hope for you that you’re right or else I'm gonna kick your iron ass.” Tony raised his hands up in the air, laughing.
The two colleagues then went back to work for the rest of the day. Then, came the moment Y/N feared. But she was not the only one, some others Avengers didn’t agree with Tony’s decision. Mostly Clint who still wanted to shoot an arrow in Loki’s eye socket. Surprisingly, Steve accepted, after a long and heated conversation with the genius, of course. Everyone was in the lounge, weapon hidden but close.
A light beam appeared on the balcony, burning a strange drawing in the stone. Two silhouettes came out of the light. One with broad shoulders, a hammer in hand; Thor. And the other, thinner and darker; Loki. The Gods walked in the room, joining the Avengers. “My friends! How are my favorite Midgardians?” greeted Thor with his big voice. Loki rolled his eyes at Thor’s annoying joy. Tony greeted him back first, smacking his shoulder. “Hey PointBreak, you came with a gift for us?” he said looking at Loki who was standing a few feet behind.
“Hahaha, don’t be shy brother! Say hi.”
“Greetings, mortals.” Loki replied blantly like he already wanted to go home. Some groaned at the nickname the God used. Loki let his eyes roamed across the group of human and was surprised to see a face he didn’t know. “I see you have a charming new recruit.” he started with a wolfish grin. “Let me guess, electricity powers? Fire? No, poison?”
“She doesn’t have any power, Reindeer Games. She’s my coworker and you’ll have trouble if you ever touch her.” Tony stated with narrowed eyes.
“I will not touch your precious. Unless she does want to.” Loki replied with a nasty smirk. Tony was already fuming, so much that one could almost see vapor escaping his ears. “Loki, be nice. Unless if you want to go back to your cell.” Thor scolded him.
The God of Mischief hissed like a true cat. He certainly didn’t want to go back in the dungeons and preferred to stay on Midgard with those mortals. And maybe he could have some fun with the man of iron’s pet. She would be an interesting thing to play with. “Well...hum Romanoff, show him his bedroom.” The assassin nodded her head and Loki followed her without a word.
The God didn’t leave his room the whole night. He didn’t even come down to eat. So it was with surprise that Y/N saw him in the kitchen the next morning. She was eating her bowl of cereal alone, most of the others having already ate their breakfast an hour before. Loki arrived in her back without a noise, so she obviously jumped and let out a small scream when she finally noticed him. Of course, the God liked it very much. “Good morning, mortal.” Loki needed to talk a bit to her if he wanted to play with the little mouse.
“The mortal has a name.” Y/N stated coldly.
“Ah, amazing. She knows how to talk.” Loki mocked. “But I don’t like your way of talking to me.” he continued with a threatening voice.
Scared and feeling useless in front of a God, she apologized. “I- excuse me.” It was Loki’s turned to be surprised this time. No one ever bent to his threats that easily. Hiding a mischievous smile, now he knew that she would be a nice toy to play with. “Apologizes accepted, Y/N.” he hummed.
“How do you know my name?” she asked with wide eyes.
“I heard Stark pronounced that name, I supposed it was yours.” Y/N was relieved to know that he didn’t have some weird telepathic powers of some sort. Well, she wasn’t sure if he could do it, he could have lied to her, after all, he was the God of Lies.
After a few minutes of silence, Tony walked in the room. “Ah Y/N, here you are. I need a hand on the ACE prototype.” he then looked at Loki while he walked away with the young woman. “He didn’t...disturbed you, right?” he asked.
“No, he simply greeted me, that’s all.” Y/N replied.
“If you need to speak about me, be sure to be in another room, Stark.” Loki stated.   “Keep talking Reindeer Games.”
Y/N knew she could trust Tony, so why did she lie to him? Why didn’t she tell him that Loki was scaring her, that he was intimidating? She didn’t really know. Maybe she was scared of what could happen.
Work made her think of something else. She even completely forgot that the God of Mischief was here, until he made his presence very...annoying, throwing her a small ball on her head from the couch he was seated in. Y/N turned back quickly, observing Loki who hadn’t even lift his eyes from the book he was reading. “Why?” she asked.
“Why what, mortal?”
Y/N let out a frustrated sigh. “What did I do to receive this ball on my head?”
“I find this amusing.” Loki replied. Y/N left the room after that, annoyed by the Prince’s response. She locked herself in her room for the rest of the evening. The woman ran into him only twice and he was already annoying her. But she was not the kind of woman to get angry or reply back, so from now on, she would try to avoid him as much as possible.
* * *
Weeks went on and whatever she did, Y/N always ran into the God of Mischief. It seemed like he knew all of her move every time. And Loki continued to play tricks on her, throwing some things at her or making sarcastic comments. Even playing with his seidr to surprise her. Like the night she came back really late at night, exhausted like never. Y/N only wanted to take a shower before going to bed. Loki had sensed the presence of the mortal right when she came back into the building. He hadn’t saw her all day so he wanted to pay her a visit. So he teleported into the room she was in. But what was his surprise when his eyes landed on her naked body in the shower. A wild smirk drew on his lips as Y/N finally noticed that someone was in the bathroom. She yelped in surprised and quickly grabbed her towel to hide her body. She had wanted to scream at him because this time he went too far, but only one glance from the God and she swallowed back every words.
This afternoon, Y/N came back after a night at the hospital. Her mother unfortunately deceased after a long fight. Eyes red and puffy, she prayed for not running into anyone and mostly not Loki. But of course, it was too much to ask. As soon as she walked in the elevator, Loki appeared at her side. “Finally I find you, pet.”
“Not today, Loki, please.” she pleaded, her head hanging low. Loki chuckled, she could even beg on her knees, he wouldn’t let his toy get away.
“I do not recall ordering you to command me.” Loki said.
“No, seriously Loki, I’m not in the mood.” The God suddenly asked himself why she was rebelling. She always had been very submissive. Oh he would put her back in her place. Using his seidr, he stopped the elevator and pinned the young woman against the wall, his hands on each side of her head. “Do not talk to me like this, pet.” he said with a low threatening voice. “Do I need to make you remember that you are only a twig for me? I could break your neck without even touching you.”
Y/N kept her head down, hair falling into her face. She was scared, deep down, but today, she didn’t care at all. She didn’t want to be stepped on. To hell this powerful God, he could kill her, she wouldn’t care because the most precious person in her life was now gone.  “Fuck you. Now let me get out of here, I want to be alone.”
Surprisingly, Y/N was very calm when she pronounced those words, but it was all an act because she was desperately trying to hold her tears. Of course, this attitude didn’t please Loki. He reached forward and wrapped a hand around her throat, but not choking her, forcing the girl to look at him. Surprised flashed in the God’s eyes but this lasted only a short moment. Y/N had cried. And he knew it wasn’t his fault, her eyes were dry at this moment. Loki wanted to ask why she was in this state because in the end, he cared for her, but this wasn’t very...Loki. “Oh my little pet is sad?” he said in a mocking tone. “But this doesn’t give you the right to talk to me like you do with your friends.”
“Maybe you can’t quite understand this because you don’t have a heart, but my mother just passed away so yes, fuck you!” Y/N spat. Loki’s reaction was quick. He retreated his hand and let the elevator open, letting the young woman stepped out to hide in her room.
Meanwhile, the God stayed here, as immobile as a stone. Y/N’s words hit him hard like a truck. He remembered the day of his mother’s death, the anger and the pain he felt. This was exactly what the mortal was facing right now. Remorse crawled into him, a feeling he almost never felt in this life.
Loki then took a decision. He would go and talk to her, but he would wait tonight so she could calm down a bit and not be too angry at him. So he walked to his room to read, but his mind wasn’t focused on the book at all. Evening came and he didn’t see Y/N at dinner time, thing that usually never happened. Obviously, everyone noticed that something was wrong, but no one knew what was happening. Anyone but Loki, except, he didn’t say anything.
Being her closest friend, Tony went to her room to talk to her. But the door was his only company. He could’ve asked Jarvis to unlock it, but he didn’t want to intrude unless she was in danger, which was not the case. He would give her the time she needed.
Natasha was the second one to try, she used her talents to make Y/N speak even if she didn’t want to see her. But only silence replied to the spy.
Loki was the last one to try. He knew he would find nothing but a closed door, but he still knocked on it. “Y/N I know that you probably don’t want to see me, but I would like to speak to you.” he said with the softest voice he could manage.
On the other side of the door, Y/N’s body tensed when she heard the Prince’s voice. It was his fault if she was in this state. Well, not really but he deepened her sadness. She never wanted to see him again. And if it meant that she would need to leave the tower, she would do it, no matter how hard it would be for her in the end.
Seeing that his first try failed like the two previous Avengers, he decided to go further. With the use of his seidr, he teleported himself inside the bedroom. The woman obviously let out a yelp and jumped in surprise when she saw the God suddenly inside her room. Loki observed her face a few seconds. She was looking terrible. Her eyes were red and puffy by her tears and her cheeks were wet. Sighing, he finally spoke. “Y/N I know it’s against my personality to be sincere, and you probably won’t believe me, but I truly am sorry for what I said and for your mother.”
“Go away.” Y/N replied coldly without looking at him.
“I know how you feel and I won’t go away until you released everything.” Loki stated.
Y/N finally stood up and stood in front of the God. “You know what, I’ll tell you what would make me feel good! It’d be for you to get out of my room! You pretend to know how I feel but you can’t because you’re just a heartless monster!”
Loki watched the Midgardian burst out for the first time. And her words hit and hurt him as much as a spear in the chest. His jaw tightened and his seidr flood into his hands, ready to be released. But he didn’t want to hurt her, so he restrained himself, trying to be as calm as possible. “I might be a monster, but I am not heartless.” he started coldly. “My mother was killed because of me. She was the only person who loved me for who I am. While everyone was rejecting me for the blood running in my veins, she was the only one to accept me.” Now, his hands and neck were starting to turn blue because of the anger. “I told her she was not my mother, and those were my last words to her. Don’t you think that my heart broke when I learnt her death, that I do not feel remorse for rejecting her?”
When he was finally done, Y/N started to cry again and wrapped her arms around Loki’s neck. The God hesitated for a moment before wrapping his own arms around her. They stayed like this for a few minutes, calming themself into their embrace. “Darling?” Loki tried.
Y/N finally looked up, staring at Loki’s green eyes. “Speak to me.” Seeing that she was going to protest, he placed a hand on her cheek. “Please.”
“Why?” she asked quietly. Loki raised a brow, not really understanding her question. “Why are you suddenly so nice when you always tricked me and tried to scare me?”
“I simply have a unique way to show my affection.” Loki finally admitted.
“What?”
Loki then softly and gently pressed their lips together. He was scared that Y/N would reject him as well, but he was surprised to see that she kissed him back.
***   Days and then months passed and a small routine built up between the two. Loki was still taunting Y/N, playing the cat and mouse game. Like nothing had changed. But Natasha, being a very talented spy, noticed that the game wasn’t really the same than before. She saw the tiny changes in Loki’s behavior et the biggest one in Y/N, her character. Usually sweet and calm, the young woman was starting to fight for herself with words, at least. The rest of the Avengers thought it was because of her loss, but Natasha knew the truth.
So when the sun was bright up in the sky, Thor wanted to organize something outside with the whole team. It was with his happy smile that he walked toward Loki’s bedroom and opened the door without knocking –because Thor- and leaned against the door frame. Then, he noticed someone else was in the bed and it seemed to be a woman. She was pressed against the God’s chest so it was impossible for the blond to see her face. He told himself that it surely was a random girl that Loki found out during their little escapade from last night. Since the woman was still sleeping, the two Gods started to whisper. “Good morning brother! The sun shines brightly in the sky, join us outside!”
“As you can see, I’m not sure I can even move. Have fun with your little Midgardians.” Loki replied, hoping to see his brother leave.
“Loki! You’re in the team too, come with us.” Thor continued.
“Thor-”
“Loki.” Thor scolded like he was talking to a child.
“Loki, honey, give me one of your daggers so I can throw it at him. I can’t sleep anymore because of him.” Y/N pleaded with a poutty voice.
Thor was obviously surprised to recognize the voice. “Lady Y/N?”
“Yes, hello Thor.” She sighed.
Mouth wild, Thor didn’t seem to get this information into his brain. “Since when you two are courting?”
“A year. Now mind your own business and leave.” Loki said with a shooing motion. Without another words, Thor left the couple alone and walked back downstairs where most of the team was. “Why are you making this face PointBreak?” Tony asked with a laugh.
“Loki...and Lady Y/N...” He simply replied. Everyone turned their head toward the God. “What?!”
“Yes, since a year.” Thor announced, still very shocked. And everyone then was making the same face.
“I already knew it.” Natasha chimed in with a smirk.
“What?!”

Description:  You are the adopted daughter of Tony Stark, Damian is the son of Bruce Wayne.  Your two fathers hate each other which by extension should mean that you and Damian are on less than friendly terms.  The issue?  You’ve been dating for little over a year and have been keeping it a secret.  What will happen if your fathers figure it out?
A/N: I actually hadn’t planned on this ending the way it did, but as I was writing it this is just how it happened.  Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Morning light shown through your window the next morning a few minutes before your alarm went off.  Your mind drifted back to the night before with Damian sneaking into your room and inviting you out for an afternoon with his brothers.  Excitement coursed through you at the thought of finally meeting them.  You quickly got up and began preparing for your day, you were almost done when there was a knock on your door.
When you opened it you discovered Pepper standing there with a bright smile on her face, “Good morning honey, Tony and I were just about to have breakfast, did you want to join us?”
You glanced back at your clock and saw that it was only eight thirty, you had plenty of time to eat before going to meet Damian, “Sure Mom.”
You grabbed the rest of your things before joining Pepper.  It had taken you awhile before you had started calling Pepper “mom”.  When Tony had first adopted you, you weren’t sure what he and Pepper wanted.  It had been some time since you had had a family and you weren’t sure what Tony’s motivations were.  Did he just want to look good to the press?  Did he want to ease a guilty conscience?  Did he just actually want a kid?
Then Morgan had come along.  You thought for sure that that would be it for you, they had their own kid now, they wouldn’t want you.  But that they hadn’t treated you any differently and you came to think of Morgan as your own sister.  You were fiercely protective of her and she loved you to death.  She was currently staying with Peter while you and your parents were in Gotham.
Tony greeted you with a hug and a kiss to your temple and began blabbing on and on about the gala the night before.  Your mind drifted to Damian and how good he had looked in his suit.  Then it went to the stairwell and the night before in your room, you only broke out of it when Tony cleared his throat, “Earth to Y/N, you still with us kid?”
You chuckled nervously, “Sorry just got a little lost in thought is all.”
“Care to share with the group?”
You shook your head, “Oh I was just thinkin’ about all the things I want to get done today.  We leave in two days so that’s not a lot of time to see the city.”
“You could always come back later with your friends,” Pepper suggested.  “I’m sure a vacation would be good for you.”
You smiled at her, “Yeah, you’re right, it would be nice.”  You glanced at the clock on your phone and saw that it was creeping closer to nine thirty, you had to be at the park by ten to meet Damian.  You stood and said, “Thanks for breakfast, but I want to go ahead and get a headstart on today.  I’ll see you at dinner.”  You kissed Pepper on the cheek and gave Tony a hug before dashing out of the hotel room.
Tony looked at the door you had just exited from and said, “I don’t think she wants to be around us any more.”  Pepper merely patted his arm and went back to her breakfast.
You on the other hand were rushing to the park that Damian had mentioned.  You were a little worried that someone may see the two of you together, but you honestly also couldn’t care less.  Sometimes you were tired of hiding the truth from everyone.  You loved Damian and you wanted the world to know that fact, but you worried about what Tony would think or do when he found out.  You also wondered if Bruce would be understanding or if he would forbid his son from seeing you as well.
You shoved those thoughts from your mind, you didn’t want them affecting your mood any.  Today was going to be a good day.  And when you made it into the park you immediately saw Damian, he had a baseball cap and sunglasses on trying to hide who he was, but you knew.  You could spot him anywhere.  He had spotted you as well and you noticed a smile growing on his face as you raced over toward him.  Your arms wrapped around him and he gently lifted you off the ground a few inches.
“Hello beloved,” he whispered in your ear before placing a gentle kiss to your cheek.
“Hi,” you said, a grin stretching across your face.
Someone cleared their throat and you could have sworn your heart stopped.  You had been caught.  It was too good to be true.  “Aren’t you going to introduce us, Dami?”
You looked over his shoulder and saw his three brothers standing there all three of them with amused expressions on their faces.  Damian practically growled at their words.  Knowing that his brothers knew about the two of you made things a little easier.  It was like Peter knowing that you and Damian were dating.  The two of you needed someone to turn to when things were tough.
You had almost told Pepper one day when you and Damian had had a fight.  You needed a motherly figure to go to, but you weren’t sure how she would feel about the two of you together.  She wasn’t like Tony, but would she lie to Tony?  You weren’t sure, so you decided to keep it a secret.
You had gone to Natasha despite never really talking to her.
She was in the training room at the Avengers' Compound and you approached her nervously.  “Nat, could I talk to you for a moment?”
She had paused what she was doing and turned to you, giving you her full undivided attention, “What can I do for you Y/N?”
You rubbed your arm and said, “If I share a secret will you promise not to tell Dad?”
Natasha’s interest was piqued, “I mean as long as you aren’t in any danger then yeah I can promise not to tell him.”
“I’m dating Damian Wayne,” you said and you watched as her eyes lit up.  “Oh God, please tell me you’re not going to use this against me?”
She chuckled, “I promise not to tell him or anyone else.  How did this even happen?”
You launched into the tale of how you and Damian had been sworn enemies, always competing against one another and how it had turned to friendship and then to what it was now.  You told her about the fight that you couldn’t even remember now, and she gave you her opinions.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you all,” you told them with a bright smile.  “Damian talks about you a lot and I’ve been begging him to let me meet you all since you found out about our little affair.”
“They were supposed to give us a few moments alone before ambushing you,” Damian said, his tone clearly stating how unamused he was with his brothers.  “But clearly they didn’t take my feelings into account.”
“You’ve been keeping her to yourself for over a year now,” Dick said, his easy going smile never slipping from his face.  “We just wanted to meet her.”
Tim nodded his head in agreement, “Don’t get mad, Dami.  She’s only here for a few more days and then she’s on her way back to New York.”
You poked Damian on the side, “They have a point, Damian.  I don’t mind meeting them now, we have plenty of time to be alone together.”
He still looked disgruntled but you let the boys show you around Gotham.  They had an SUV with tinted windows to hide who was inside.  The boys were recognizable and so were you.  The five of you would be on the front page of all the gossip magazines by tomorrow and everyone and their mother would know that maybe you didn’t play into the whole feud your fathers had going on.
You could see the headlines now:
Real-life Romeo and Juliet with Children of Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark
Y/N Stark and Damian Wayne Making Headlines as Secret Affair
How Long Have These Star-Crossed Lovers Been Together?
You wondered how long it would take Tony to kick you out of the house and never speak to you again.  It wasn’t that you didn’t want to tell Tony, he deserved to know.  It was just that you didn’t know what he would do when he found out the truth.  You knew how much he hated Bruce Wayne, and to be fair Tony didn’t think straight on a lot of things when emotions ran high.  He would definitely say something that would hurt and he might regret later.
But knowing your father he would be too proud to admit that he was wrong.
Damian noticed the look on your face and nudged you, “You okay?”
You smiled and took his hand in yours, “Yeah just thinking.”
“About your dad?”  He furrowed his brow, the two of you had had many talks about your fathers and their reaction to the two of you coming clean about how you weren’t really enemies.
You leaned your head back and blew out a breath, “I’m just… worried.”
Damian squeezed your hand and said, “Whenever you want to tell him, I’ll be there to support you.  And if you want to tell Father first we could while you’re still here.  He may put on a show of hating Stark, but I don’t think he’d begrudge you.”
“Damian’s right,” Dick said from the driver’s side.  “Bruce looks like he would be the type to throw a fit and tell Damian to get out, but he’s actually not that big of an asshole.”
You laughed, “You saying Stark is an asshole, Grayson?”
“If he doesn’t I will,” Jason turned and grinned at you making you laugh.  “No offense.”
“None taken, I know my father can be less than welcoming and let his mouth get him into trouble.”  You didn’t have enough fingers to count the times your father had gotten into trouble because his mouth had gotten the better of him.  “I just wish I knew if he would be okay with us.  That he wouldn’t let the feud get in the way of realizing how happy I am.”
Leaning over Damian kissed your cheek.  “So should I set a course for the manor?”  Dick asked.
“It’s up to you,” Damian said.  “Father will be discreet.”
Taking a steadying breath you said, “Let’s do it.”  The boys cheered and Damian once again squeezed your hand to let you know that he would be with you every step of the way.

Reason number 500 why I love Black Widow: it affirmed the Found Family trope that the rest of the MCU has shit all over. In earlier-stages of the MCU, especially right after The Avengers, everyone thought all of these broken people would inevitably create a home in each other. Then forced heterosexuality decided a bunch of rushed romances with no chemistry were better than allowing these characters to continue exploring the (often non-romantic) voids these characters were managing to fill in each other. So of COURSE Clint was retconned with a wife and kids with no setup! Of COURSE Brutasha and Staron were pushed into canon as one-movie B-plots (and then Steve later fucked off back to the past to be with Sharon's aunt, heteronormativity tops all and it's not weird if they're soulmates, right?) Marvel's no-homoing of Steve and Bucky is an issue in its own right, and deserves critique, but honestly I never needed Steve and Bucky to be canon lovers. What I needed was for Marvel to acknowledge that even platonically, Steve Rogers would never put anyone else over Bucky, because platonic relationships really can be that deep, meaningful, and binding. We had Tony and Pepper...get married as the world went to hell? Retreat to the woods and have a kid? Does that sound like Tony Stark to you? Having children totally fixes broken people in real life and never leads to them being shit parents and fucking up their kids, amirite?
And then we have Black Widow, which explores how devastating it was to Natasha and Yelena when their family (even a non-conventional family that was never meant to be one and became one by circumstance) came apart. We saw Alexei and Melina develop genuine affection for the children they were temporarily raising, and we saw them realistically express that in fucked-up ways because broken people often become broken parents even when they mean well. We saw them come back together to repair those bonds because in the end they can't help but think it's worth it. And Natasha parts with the others at the end, on her own and with no romantic interest, saying, "All this time I thought I had no family. Turns out I have two."
HELL. YES.
