A GUIDE TO: SHADOW WORK
masterlist || paid services || ko-fi
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
below is a step-by-step guide on what shadow work is, how to practice it, as well as addressing a major misconception that many people have about the process. if you're interested in learning about shadow work or want to find out how to start the process, i hope that this provides enough information to help point you in the right direction <3
remember: shadow work is not an easy process and should not be taken lightly. to make sure that you have all the knowledge you need before starting, conduct your own research on how to do shadow work, as i only used a few sources that i looked through while doing my own research on the topic.
WHAT IS A SHADOW?
Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes. - carl jung
a shadow is described as the aspects of a person that one forgets, hides, and or represses subconsciously.
all people have a shadow, there is never someone who goes through life without having at least one. shadows make up the people we are, and how others perceive us. our shadows are the counterpart to the self that we present to others, it is our truest thoughts, feelings, wants, and needs that others, whether it be friends, family, society, etc., have deemed unacceptable.
these aspects of ourselves that we hide from others and sometimes even ourselves is called our shadow self.
our shadows are formed throughout our lives and typically occur in moments when we don't have the knowledge, skill set, or mental capacity to stand up for ourselves. these shadows grow when we feel like we can't express our truest selves due to an external source telling us that what makes us unique is bad, weird, taboo, etc.
most people are not aware of their shadows until their early to mid-20s, but everyone is different, so it could be much later than that. our shadows are karmic and are meant to teach us life lessons once we hit a certain stage in our lives, but only if we choose to acknowledge them.
HOW DO WE SHOW OUR SHADOWS?
Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves. - carl jung
our shadows are shown in the 3D by projection. if one has not faced their shadows and worked with their shadow self, then they could project their own insecurities and fears onto the people, things, ideas, etc. around them. when people inherit beliefs and values that don't align with who they truly are beneath the surface, this can cause resentment, fear, or even anger towards the ideals, beliefs, and values that they really do have.
for example, someone with a neglected inner child wound could have experienced feeling silenced in their home, feeling left out, and fearing abandonment. having feelings like this in their shadow self could result in actions like people pleasing, overextending, emotional immaturity, and more. they can project these actions, thoughts, and feelings onto other people and hold high expectations for others, often resulting in behavioral patterns. these patterns are learned throughout life, and then have to be recognized and broken.
"If you grew up a very talkative child, your parents might have told you repeatedly to be quiet or talk less often in social settings. In order to feel loved and accepted, you might’ve started to repress that talkative aspect of your personality. And over time, as you continued to repress those parts, your shadow held onto those feelings until they bubble over or they’re triggered by external stimuli." (Cleveland Clinic, HealthEssentials, 2023)
acknowledging these shadow aspects of ourselves and learning to accept them can help people have more care, love, and compassion for others and themselves in hard situations.
HOW TO DO SHADOW WORK
The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. - carl jung
there are many ways for people to do shadow work, and it all depends on the person and their personal preference. Most people practice a few different methods of shadow work and stick to the few that seem to work the best for them.
a few ways that people could practice shadow work consists of:
mirror gazing
shadow work prompts (most common)
meditation
the shadow work journal
and more!
it is imperative that you try different methods of shadow work, and pick the best options for you. some options could work better than others, so it is important that you pay attention to how you feel after each exercise, and make sure that you're mentally ready for the work you are about to put in. do ample research on each method that you want to look into before attempting.
WHEN SHOULD YOU DO SHADOW WORK?
There is no birth of consciousness without pain. - carl jung
a person should only do shadow work when they feel like they are mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically ready to do so. if you feel at any point in time that you are not ready to face your shadows, then it is highly advised to wait before you delve into it.
shadow work is all about facing the parts of yourself that you've subconsciously blocked due to trauma, so it won't be easy to complete without facing emotional backlash.
if you think about the idea of shadow work and it makes you feel nervous, worried, anxious, scared, etc., then more than likely you're not ready to commit to your shadow work at that time. on the other hand, if you think about shadow work and feel excited, optimistic, motivated, and most of all ready for change, then more than likely you are ready to take the next step in your spiritual journey!
sometimes, our guides will give us signs that we are ready for our shadow work journey by relaying information to us through dreams, downloads, angel numbers, significant animals/items, etc., so be conscious of the signs that your guides might be trying to show you!
IS IT DEMONIC/SATANIC/WITCHCRAFT?
I have treated many hundreds of patients. Among those in the second half of life - that is to say, over 35 - there has not been one whose problem in the last resort was not that of finding a religious outlook on life. - carl jung
no. absolutely not.
shadow work is a process that was discovered by a swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst named carl jung. jung believed that there were three different parts to the human psyche; the ego (conscious self), the personal unconscious (shadow self), and the collective conscious (shared mental constructs among society).
jung believed that shedding light on our personal unconscious could drastically change the way that we interact with the world around us, as well as ourselves for the better.
shadow work isn't about summoning anything that wasn't previously there, it's about acknowledging the unknown parts of yourself that already existed so we can truly figure out who we are on the inside.
shadow work is something that takes time, effort, and willpower, but it is a safe and loving practice that helps people better their self-love, self-worth, self-acceptance, and overall mental well-being.

there's no need to divide myself into a lilith or eve!
no need to label dark or light, "doe" or "siren", ordinary or peculiar, hero or villain...
...good or bad. no need to choose an aesthetic or specific lifepath, "coquette" or "thatgirl", spiritual or material, searching for depth or enjoying the shallow
just look at lady persephone, goddess of spring and queen of the underworld, daughter and wife
I deserve to be all of me, without having to fit into a box and I will never question if I'm being "too much" or not enough
it is fascinating, don't you think?
the duality, the change and growth, the contradictions, the limitlessness, the mosaic that is life and nature in our universe, the mosaic that I am as a person, that's authenticity❤️‍🔥

「 ☆:.。・Top 3 Feminine Energy Tips 」
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. Feminine Energy is about Joy, Ease, Acceptance & receiving. If you are angry at yourself and cannot allow yourself to be happy; then it is hard to enter the flow of feminine energy. How can you receive Joy from the External world when you cannot allow yourself to feel that joy and to receive it from yourself?
We live in a like attracts like Universe, meaning your vibrational state will reflect back to you what you feel. Especially what you feel about yourself.
I recommend working on that Resistance and negative energy you have towards yourself & about yourself, because it’s taking up so much space . That even if someone did want to give you something, their energy would literally not have space because yours is taking up so much.
Which brings me onto my next point…..
2. You are putting soooo much energy out into the world; with the wrong intentions
So many of us give to others with the unconscious expectation that they have to give something back . Or we give purely so that we receive something back, only to be disappointed when that need isn’t met.
Yes it’s true that some people are takers and will try to take as much of you as they can.
But it’s also true that people can sense when a person is doing things purely for validation or for wanting something back in exchange.
I have an exercise I like to do which I recommend to all my people pleasing girlies. Try to become conscious of every-time you give with an expectation. That way, you can catch yourself and stop. Question your own motives. If there is any reminisce of expectation then just stop altogether. Because you’re operating in your methodical masculine energy which is goal and outcome oriented.
To truly give something, means to give it from the heart and to give that thing unconditionally. So… if you never catch yourself wanting to give for the sake of giving. It probably means you don’t take enough care of yourself and you are depleted from trying to please others. Gain your energy back sis, fill your own cup and spend some time alone giving to yourself what you expect from others.
That way, when you start giving to the world again, it is no longer laced with any transactional energy. And that way.. when you receive… it will also be pure and from the heart.
Massculine energy = Head (outcome oriented)
Feminine energy = Heart ( Just Being)
3. Practise Vipassana Meditation
Vipassana Meditation is a type of meditation which is about allowing yourself to feel the emotions stored in your body. It is a kind of meditation in which you you place your awareness on your body, and you scan to see what you feel in each part. With no judgement. It is simply an exercise of observation.
This way, you are practising just being . Which is what feminine energy is about. Feminine energy is just allowing things to unfold and be; and well, how can you interact with the world in such a way and Trust the Universe if you cannot even observe your own Universe and let your own emotions flow with the comfort and support of your own awareness.
That way you learn to listen to yourself, nurture yourself and guess what… the world at large will reflect that because EVERYTHING is connected and everything is energy.
If you want to support this blog as well as my research there’s a Tip option in the bio. Or CashApp me £astroroyale .This way I can keep posting high quality content for you as it encourages me in the process <3 :) Thank you & Much love

“Om Shanti Ramaha Mundi”
I have come to understand my own personal mantra after a profound brush with a fellow shaman for whom I consulted regarding shadow work.
- "Om": Often considered the primordial sound of creation, "Om" represents the divine energy that pervades the universe and connects all living beings.
- "Shanti": This Sanskrit word translates to "peace" and signifies a state of tranquility, harmony, and balance.
- "Ramaha": Derived from the Sanskrit word "Rama," which is an epithet of Lord Vishnu in Hinduism, "Ramaha" symbolizes divinity, goodness, and spiritual enlightenment.
- "Mu": "Mu" represents the idea of emptiness, unity, and interconnectedness, transcending the boundaries of individual selves and pointing to the universal nature of existence.
Together, these syllables create a powerful invocation for peace, spiritual awakening, and unity within ourselves, the world, and the universe as a whole.
- "Mundi" shares a similar meaning with "Mu" in the sense that both words represent the concept of unity and interconnectedness. By incorporating "Mundi" into the mantra, we further emphasize the universal nature of this invocation for peace and spiritual awakening.
In this context, "Mundi" serves as a bridge between the Sanskrit and Latin traditions, connecting the spiritual wisdom of ancient India with the philosophical insights of the Western world. By including "Mundi," we broaden the scope of our intention to encompass not just our individual selves, but the entire universe, recognizing the inherent interconnectedness of all things and the potential for peace and enlightenment to radiate throughout.

Ways to Cleanse Your Own Energy
de-cording is a technique that allows you to remove energetic knots from your field. the cord is essentially your attachment to a specific person/event/feelings that’s purpose is no longer serving you. start by consciously weeding out those that aren’t sustainable to you. close your eyes, and imagine that there is a rope in front of you, one end tied around your waist.
with your eyes closed, rub your hands together, and visualize a white ball of light forming as you pull them apart. with the light in one hand, powerfully sweep it across your body followed by a strong exhale. seal your aura with protective oils, such as: sandalwood, juniper, myrrh, yarrow, etc.
shower meditation. visualize standing underneath a waterfall, concentrate on how the water feels rolling off your skin. notice the intensity of the water washing away any negative thoughts, feelings, or energies. visualize fear, regret, sadness, anger, and anxiety falling away from you and circling the drain.

What is Shadow Work, and How Do I Do It?
What is Shadow Work, and how can it help you? Are you ready to confront your shadows and emerge into the light of authenticity and wholeness?
Within each of us, under the surface that we show to others, is a dark side, or a shadow self just beneath our skin. It sounds like a supervillain origin story when I put it that way, but I’m really just talking about the psychological concept of shadow work. What is Shadow Work? Within the shadow, we confront aspects of ourselves we’d rather keep concealed: our fears, insecurities, traumas,…

So I have this spell - (my first ever spell):
Stretch it.
Twist it.
Make it grow.
Like a river, let it flow.
Three times fast, this hair shall grow.
This is my will,
So mote it be!

Now - hear me out…
If I take that spell and add my rosemary tincture and stinging nettle salve what do we have? A whole enhanced version of the spell!
And with science to back up the magick! :D
Both Stinging nettle and rosemary herbs/plants have properties for hair growth - with science research to back them up! :D
