bring him home | chapter four
Summary: It's 3 months after your fight in Germany. Reader is in Wakanda for the first time and comes face to face with someone she thought she never would again.
Warnings: MCU Spoilers. (Potentially but not really) Captain America: Civil War & Black Panther. Flash Back Chapter.
Word Count: 1929
Masterlist | Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
A/N: I wanted to write more about Bucky and Reader's relationship. I thought now would be a good time, not exactly halfway through but enough for their love for each other to have already been set. It was also a lot longer than my typical mid chapter flash back so here we are.

As Genius As Your Mind Is
Flying into Wakanda, you couldn't believe you were here. You had been formally invited to meet with Princess Shuri and discuss tech and science. You were incredibly excited. Since Germany, your dad has been much more protective than usual—limited access to the suit, very little mission exposure, and many safety meetings. However, after he received contact from Wakanda explaining that King T’Challa was impressed by your knowledge and passion for new tech; he would love for you to visit and help the country with resources. Tony, being the bragging type of parent, of course, agreed for you to go.
“My daughter was personally chosen by a KING to help develop his country.” Would be all anyone heard about for the next month until the jet landed. Little did he know then that the country was fully developed and far more advanced than any Stark could imagine.
Just as you thought the Wakandan Jet was about to land in a farmer’s field, the sky seemed to open up and you carried on flying. You rushed over to the window as you flew, your jaw dropped as you took in the high-tech skyscrapers and motorways. “Is this real?” Your mind, your brilliant genius mind, could not apprehend your surroundings. So many questions, and possibilities. “Why do you need me?”
You were greeted by King T’Challa himself when you landed, his sister and mother stood by his side.
“Y/N, it’s great to meet you again!” T’Challa exclaimed as you walked out of the jet. “Thankfully the circumstances are an improvement.” You shared a knowing look between the two of you. Fair, you were both technically on the same team during the fight however you did secretly betray said side.
“Your Highness, it is my absolute honor to be in your country,” Once again looking around the scenery surrounding you. “Incredible.” An almost inaudible whisper to yourself as the endless possibilities wandered around your mind. “However, I can’t help but notice that I may be a little out of my league here,” Using your arms to gesture around you. “Wakanda seems pretty well developed already.”
“Miss Stark, as genius as your mind is,” T’Challa began to state as you noticed the long box they started to bring out from inside what you can only guess to be the palace. “It is your heart we require to further our research.”
Panic.
No amount of safety meetings from your dad could have prepared you for this. You start to reach for your hand repulsor as you watch them begin to open the box. Yes, you betrayed a king and his mission to arrest but was it really this drastic?
~
As the box began to open, your heart raced with a mix of excitement and apprehension. What could be inside that would require your heart rather than your intellect? After the box had opened and you saw the contents, you retracted the repulsor and with trembling hands, you approached the device, your mind racing with possibilities and uncertainties alike. Where did they find this? You knew from your dad's retelling that it had happened but T’Challa? As far as you knew, your dad didn’t know he was anywhere near the fight between him, Steve, and Bucky.
“Your Highness, I don’t mean to sound, I don’t know,” Words all of a sudden had become unknown to you. Thoughts were in a secret language even you couldn’t crack the code to. “How did you get this? And, why does it involve me?”
“Well, Miss Stark, we believe you may be a very important part of his deprogramming,”
“His what?”
Be Careful
Looking out at the field, your heart felt like it had stopped. There he was, armless, hair just as long as it was when you last saw him. It was as if nothing about him had changed, yet, everything seemed to be different. You watched as he threw hay around the field, goats following closely behind him. He looked peaceful, that was until he noticed you standing at the top of the hill watching him.
You began to raise your hand to wave slightly at him, confusion took over his face as a small smile appeared on yours. His thoughts must have been racing with what-ifs and how comes about your sudden appearance in his haven. Neither of you knew who should make their way over to the other first.
“Miss Stark, you are no help just standing there,” Ayo spoke to you through an ear comm. Sighing, you remembered how much you hated this part of the job. Always having voices in your ear. “You need to approach to make cont-.” Her voice was silenced by you, removing the comm. This man had never once hurt you, even when his mind was not his own, he couldn’t. The Winter Soldier tried but James Buchanan Barnes did not allow it.
“Why are you here?” Your body jumped in shock when he suddenly appeared in front of you, your guard was down while removing the comm and you didn’t see him jog over to you. “You can’t be here.” He towered over you due to his added height and muscle from the serum.
“Sergeant Barns,” Trying to calm your breathing back down as you looked up at him, trying to stand your ground and not show weakness to his stealth and stance. “I have been invited here to assist Princess Shuri and Ayo in your recovery.” Taking a deep breath, you close your eyes not wanting to see the potential pain that word may cause. “I hope you don’t mind, I don’t quite know myself why me or how I can help but I promise you, I will try my hardest to find you peace.”
“I was peaceful until,” Stopping mid-sentence, he also took a breath before continuing. You could tell he was considering what to say next. Guilt immediately rushed over you as you remembered how his demeanor changed when you showed up. “Until you weren’t safe anymore.” His words hung in the air, a silence fell over us. The only sound was the goats in the distance.
His words continued to teach in the newfound tense atmosphere, and the weight of his confession began to settle heavily on your shoulders. A whirlwind of conflicting emotions began to form within you. You couldn’t find the right words to say back to him. Regret was once again tugging at your heart as the realization of your presence had come with unintended consequences.
“I’m sorry,” You whispered, your voice laced with sincerity. “I never meant to cause you any sort of distress.” The air once again felt heavy around you, uncertainty clouded you both. After a moment, Bucky softened, letting out a sigh.
“I know,” He replied, his voice becoming a new sort of gentle. A gentle you’ve never come across in anyone, not even Steve, before. “Just,” he sighed. “Be careful.” The tension began to ease between you, Bucky’s guard lowered and you couldn’t help but notice how his features told his story. The battles he’d fought, both physically and mentally.
“I will,” You made him a promise, determination in your voice as looked into his eyes. “I’ll do everything in my power to ensure everything is alright.”
His eyes softened, and the edges of his lips pulled into a small smile. He didn’t know what it was about you, yet you eased something in him. He couldn’t corrupt that.
“Thank you,” he said, as he fixed the sling around his shoulder. “That means more to me than you know.”
I See You
Before you knew it, you had been in Wakanda for almost a month. Immersing yourself in your work with Shuri and Ayo that will help aid Bucky’s recovery. Shuri explained early on that in conversation with T’Challa when he returned with Bucky, he and Steve discussed how The Winter Soldier and Bucky had responded to your presence. They believed that since you are the only person to have a positive exchange with both then you’d be the best candidate to support him throughout the process.
Of course, you tried your best to stay out of their way as well. It was clear that as much as a Stark you were, Shuri was more adaptable to the science and tech life, having better resources than you could imagine. So, you did what you could in creating a new arm for Bucky. You thought he suited wondering the farm without one. With Ayo, you did what she asked when she asked. If she wanted you to be there for the trigger words therapy, you tried to be. Bucky wouldn’t allow it still. “No.” He’d bark at both you and Ayo whenever he heard that you’d be asked to come to the outskirts.
As every day passed and you both faced new challenges, you were beginning to see progress and small glimpses of the man he was back in the 40s. You began to forge a bond with Bucky, or as you insist on calling him, James. This connection grew as you both opened up more to each other. In the quiet moments, you would be with each other either by an evening fire or walking through the Wakandan countryside. Within the solace of each other’s presence, you learned more about his childhood in the 40s as he learned about yours in the 90s. You began spending the afternoons together tending the goats or beating him at chess.
~
The peaceful Wakandan Countryside evening encouraged you both to sit by the lake in front of Bucky’s hut. The only sound was the soft lapping of the lake and chess pieces moving around the board. It became evident that Bucky had a remarkable intellect, and you shared an interest in reading and literature too. Shortly after your first day in Wakanda, you were discussing The Hobbit. He opened up about the anticipation surrounding its debut, you introduced him to the film adaptation.
“You didn’t stop me from calling you ‘James’.” You mumbled breaking the silence that had lasted who knows how long, It was the first time since you landed he hadn’t autocorrected you to ‘Bucky’ when you referred to him as James. He responded with a hum focused on the chessboard between you. “I did say ‘It’s your move, James.’,” you repeated. “I called you ‘James’ and you didn’t correct me.”
“I didn’t want you to stop.” He confessed softly as he continued to ponder his next moves.
“Why?”
“When you say my name,” A pause, he was gathering his thoughts. He is debating in his mind on the best way to describe it to you. “It feels like you see me. You see who I truly am, not the mistakes and regrets that replay in my mind.”
“James,” Your voice was louder now, stern with sincerity. It was that moment when he stopped planning what to do next and looked up at you. “I see you.”
Your heart raced as you looked at Bucky, his eyes meeting yours. Without a word, he leaned in. He pressed his lips gently against yours, sending sparks through your body. It was simple yet, felt like it was what you both had been missing. You fit together.
“Thank you,” Letting out a whisper of gratitude as he pulled away from your lips for a moment. You gazed up at him with flushed cheeks and a giggle, your heart swelled with happiness as he pulled you in for another, only this time with longing and passion.

Title: Career Day Rating: Gen Pairing: Peter Parker & Tony Stark Tags/Warnings:  Tony Stark Acting as Peter Parker's Parental Figure, Adopted Peter Parker, Dead May Parker (sorry not sorry it's for the irondad fluff), Irondad and Spiderson, Fluff, Family Fluff, Identity Reveal Summary: Midtown is hosting a Career Day, and Tony comes to speak as Peter's dad, revealing Peter's identity as his son to Peter's class. Notes:  fills square B5 'identity reveal' on my @pparkerbingo card!
AO3 Link
Peter didn’t think anything of it, when he left the papers from school on the kitchen island. It was part of his new routine with Tony and Pepper, they liked to keep up with the goings on at Midtown, and if Peter didn’t immediately leave the papers for them when he got home, he’d forget them in his backpack. He wasn’t sure why the school didn’t just email all the parents and guardians with the latest news and reminders about parent teacher conferences, sciences fairs and band performances, it wasn’t like this was the really old days of dial up and checking your email once a week.
Midtown School of Science and Technology was hosting a career day for the juniors, as collage application deadlines would be upon them sooner than they realized, and had asked for parental volunteers in several different vocations to come and speak. That flier had been in the stack, however Peter didn’t think Tony or Pepper would have the time, but well…
There, in a line of other parents and guardians, sat Tony Stark in all his bespoke suited glory. He had one leg crossed over the other and his hands in his lap, fingers laced. The HUD glasses were perched on his nose, and he was smiling out at the group of awestruck teenagers staring up at him on the auditorium stage. There was a cacophony of excited whispers, too muddled for Peter to catch anything specific.
Next to him, Ned was hitting his arm. “Dude, your da-“
“Ned!” Peter hissed. “You know he’s not-“
“He technically is,” MJ rolled her eyes from the other side of Peter. “Those adoption papers aren’t just for show, loser.”
Peter could feel himself flush and he snapped his mouth closed, slouching down in his seat. It wasn’t that Peter didn’t think of Tony as his dad, but he had only recently gone from calling him ‘Mister Stark’ to ‘Tony’. It wasn’t even until May’s funeral that the man had hugged Peter fully. They weren’t there yet.
They hadn’t made any announcements (nor had Peter really said anything at school, it wasn’t like he went around talking about his family before. Plus, who would he tell?), though they weren’t hiding Peter away. Most everyone at the tower knew, the school knew, of course, as did the Avengers and Peter’s friends. Pepper had also planned a lovely little debut, of sorts, for Peter as their son and heir to Stark Industries at the next Maria Stark Foundation fundraising dinner. Huh, she had said “their son”…Peter smiled to himself. Maybe they were there.
Peter remembered the flier, then, it had asked for volunteers to come speak at “their child’s” school for a career day. That was definitely something parents did.
Principal Morita stepped up to the podium and cleared his throat. “Hello, students,” He waited for the room to hush before continuing. “We have some very accomplished and knowledgeable parents here today to talk to you about different college and career paths in STEM. I expect you to give each of them your full, undivided attention, as what they can tell you will be very valuable for your own futures.”
It was obvious the principal was implying that they needed to pay attention to all the parents and not ignore them because of Tony Stark, and Peter was kind of embarrassed. His classmates were definitely the type to fan-geek out instead of paying attention.
“Without further ado, let’s have our first speaker,” Principal Morita clapped, prompting some applause from the students, as he stepped back to his chair.
The first parent, a woman with dark skin and round glasses, adjusted the height of the mic. “Hello, I’m Rochelle Brown, Abe’s mother,” She was cut off by an excited whoop from a few rows in front of Peter, and laughed. “Hey, son…I’m a doctor specializing in cardiovascular health.”
Peter listened to her talk about med school and the skills and knowledge from non-STEM areas that were important as well. It was overall pretty informative. The next few parents followed the same formula; introduce themselves, as well as whose parent they were, and then talk about their work and college experience.
They went down the line, and the 5th chair held Tony. When it was his turn, he stood and made his way to the podium. “Well, you know who I am,” He flashed them a smile.
Peter noticed it wasn’t his media smile, it was genuine. A warmth spread through his belly at the realization that Tony was there as his dad, not as Tony Stark.
After a small smattering of chuckles from the audience, it went silent, clearly all waiting with baited breath to hear who his kid was.
“And I’m Peter Parker’s dad.”
The warmth in Peter’s belly exploded into a million butterflies and he could feel his cheeks pulled up into a wide smile. That was the first time he had said that. Sure, he called Peter “his kid” all the time, but he said…
Peter couldn’t stop smiling, even as everyone was suddenly turned, looking at him. The whispers were loud, and teachers around the room were trying to hush everyone and get them focused again. Flash could be heard loudly protesting as he was escorted out the doors into the hallway after a rather rude outburst. Peter snorted.
“Yes, yes, new gossip, I know it’s exciting.” Tony drawled, amused. “But I’m here to talk to you about engineering and MIT, the greatest in higher education for a budding young scientist, and I promise I’m only a little biased,” He winked.
Peter watched at Tony captivated a room full of teenagers and adults alike, with tales about building DUM-E at fifteen, and the non-proprietary aspects of engineering the arc reactor. He grinned and laughed at an anecdote about the one armed bot, and then reached into his pocket for his phone. He typed out a text and hit send, knowing Friday would display it on the screen in Tony’s glasses. A second later, his dad looked directly at him and smiled.
thanks for coming to speak, dad

((I’m living for your Scott and @youknowwhoiamaskblog Tony content fyi. Like thank you. You’re doing beautiful work.))
((Also your Blood Brothers stuff is fun! With that being said I think you should do a Blood Brothers thing where Tony and Hank meet and Scott is like oh shit))
((First of all, representing one half of the Math Bros, thank you so very very much for your kind words! The stuff we've done with the Math Bros has been so very wonderful and it like makes me so so happy. And I'm so glad it's making others happy too lol))
((Secondly, that is a very very good idea! Thank you for that! Check below for how that would look!))
((Edit: this ask came about before Hank entered the tumblrverse))
Scott is nervous. And for good reason after all.
Hank Pym is notorious for being all ugh with Starks in general. Scott really can't blame him though. Howard Stark, Scott and Tony's grandfather in this AU, was definitely worth being ugh about.
Hank did not have kind things to say about Tony either, and the only reason Hank didn't say anything bad about Charles Charlie Stark, the Stark boys' dad in this AU, is because Scott shut that down really fast the second Hank tried to.
And Scott thinks one reason why Hank overlooked the fact a Stark would be his Ant-Man successor was because Scott "didn't act like a Stark".
Now that Tony is back in his little brother's life, he wants to meet the OG Ant-Man.
"Umm, you sure that's a good idea, Tony? Hank's not really big on the family name, ya know."
"Hank had to deal with Howard, and nobody liked Howard, Scotty. Besides, Hank likes you."
"But...he doesn't like you."
Tony just shrugs. He learned a long time ago it doesn't really matter what people think about him. "Yeah well, what else is new?"
To be fair, Scott had been trying to talk up Tony ever since the boys had been reunited and reconciled, but it didn't seem to do that much good.
It always ended up the same conversation.
"He's not my grandfather, Hank."
"But he's still a Stark, Scott."
"So am I! Remember? So why does it matter?"
And that was answered with a gruff mumble that was too quiet to fully make out, so Scott dropped it for the time being.
When Tony and Hank actually meet it feels more like this
Tumblr media
If ya know then ya know.
Scott tries to run interference before it's even needed, but his brother and mentor aren't interested.
They have a stare down and throw some quips at each other like they're trying to gauge how this all is going to go down.
And Scott just keeps watching in the background, also wondering how this all is going to go down.
Then they start talking science, and Scott starts to relax. Maybe this won't be so bad.
Until Hank brings up Grandpa Howard wanting to know about the science behind Hank's formula.
"You wouldn't be interested in that either, would you, Stark?"
Tony raises an eyebrow. Scott is Scott but Tony is Stark.
Actually when Scott is in trouble with Hank then he's Stark too but that's neither here nor there.
"I have no interest into delving into that kind of science and infringing on your territory, Pym. So I'm going to assume my Iron Man tech holds no interest for you either?"
"I have no interest in your tin man suit, Stark."
Scott groans quietly in the background.
Tony thinks of a million different quips to throw back at Hank, but he swallows them all for the time being and instead goes with a different tactic.
"Look, Pym, I don't care what you think about me or my tech or what I've done or what I could do. What I do care about is you keeping an eye on Scott and what you've done for him. And to an extent, what that also means for my niece. So thank you for that."
And Hank is surprised. He wasn't really prepared for that, but it softens the old bear's heart.
It takes him a minute to recover. "You're welcome. He's a good man."
Scott's eyes grow wide and he quietly points to himself.
Tony nods. "I wholeheartedly agree. And if you need a third man in your Howard Stark roasts, I'm turning in my application for the job."
"Hired," Hank answers, and they shake hands.
Then Tony smirks. "And we can tell you what he said about you."
Scott snorts, and Hank sighs and grumbles, "Oh my word."

Real Amazing Spider-Man #3
Stark villa
A green portal opens, and a five-year-old Valeria Richards exits the portal dragging two suitcases to find Peter Parker and Mary Jane Parker cuddled together, watching a Netflix original film while Annie continues playing her Nintendo Switch.
“Special delivery for My Best Science-buddy friend forever and her excellent mom, your luggage direct from Germany,” said Valeria
“Thanks, Val,” said Annie as she ran over to Valeria, hugged her, collected her suitcase, and headed to her temporary bedroom.
“Thanks, Val. I hope it wasn’t too much trouble,” asked Mary Jane Parker,
“Not at all, Mrs Parker; it’s a pleasure for all the time you babysat me and  my dumb brother Franklin and lets us double mint chocolate chip ice cream,” said Mary Jane collecting her suitcase
“So where is my suitcase,” asked Peter
“Sorry, I only have two arms, Mister Parker. But, I have to keep my BSFF happy so we can get another A+ on our science projects, and MJ always lets me have an extra helping of double mints ice cream and is wicked when it comes to Pictionary game night,” said Valeria.
“No, seriously, where is my bag,” asked Peter as MJ took her suitcase to their temporary bedroom
“I’ll go and get it for you, but the teleport device needs six to eight hours to recharge before I can sneak into the unclaimed baggage area,” said Valeria.
“six to eight hours you just wanted to hang out with your friend in Hawaii,” asked Peter
“I have left a message for Uncle Johnny to tell him where I am; Mum said I could stay over at a friend’s house if I wanted as long as I told a responsible adult, seeing they left Uncle Johnny in charge, which I did I left him a note,” said Valeria.
“I think your mum meant to stay in New York with us, not while we are house-sitting in Hawaii,” said Peter.
“Technically, I am sure you could call Mum and Dad to come and get me, mister Parker, but they are doing something in the Negative Zone, so where is your phone,” asked Valeria.
“You knew my cellphone was in my bag, didn’t you? So you left it on purpose so you could work on a science project with Annie,” asked Peter
“That’s the problem, mister Parker you can’t prove its word against mine; if you let me stay, I will upgrade your web shooters free of charge,” said Valeria
“You are an evil mastermind who taught blackmail,” said Peter laughing
Annie then comes out of her bedroom carrying her teddy bear, Wolverine.
“I thought I was never going mister whiskers again; I owe you one, Val,” said Annie.
“Happy to help, my BSFF. Are you ready to work on our science project? I’m sure some tech we can borrow from Tony’s workshop,” asked Valeria.
“Of course, I was already planning to sneak into Tony Stark workshop,” said Annie
“What? You already cracked his workshop password; not fair. I’m the code breaker in this team,” said Valeria,
“Please, there’s no real challenge in hacking into Stark system; a one-year-old could do it,” said Annie
“So it’s IamIronman39 isn’t it,” said Valeria.
“No, it’s IamIronman08 this time. I tried a few other passcodes to access the workshop. I need some to upgrade my switch battery life from three to six with some junk from the workshop,” said Annie.
“We really need to talk about hacking into other people’s systems,” said Peter.
“Says the guy who went into the lab before me to borrow parts to create some web-shooters,” said Annie
I thought you had organic web shooters, Mister Parker,” asked Valeria.
“I do these web-shooters to help focus my shots and to use impact webbing and some kinky stuff you do not need to know till you are in high school,” said Peter
“Oh, he’s talking about Sex; I already had read six biology books before I was four, Uncle Peter. I know about the birds and bees and all the LGBT stuff that they are only two genders, XX and XY, no matter how deluded the biology teacher is with her saying they are 32 different genders crap,” said Valeria.
“Yeah, I gathered that, Val. I think dad trying to avoid have tell me where babies come from; he’s trying to convince me the stork brought me,” said Annie
“Don’t you have a science project to work on,” asked Peter.
Annie and Valeria walk off towards Tony’s workshop. After they entered the workshop, they started work on their science project.
“So what are we doing for our science this time? Because I don’t know how we top the teleportation device we created last year,” asked Annie.
“I know those ungrateful science fair judges gave us a damn C I still can’t believe we lost to a baking soda volcano,” said Valeria
“We are competing with other four-year-olds, but that was completely ridiculous. Mind you, we created a working teleporter out of a couple of radio and retro games consoles at four-year-old without adult help,” said Annie.
“Let’s just build a Lemon power clock or go with the classic Baking soda volcano, but we both know those are below our intelligence and a waste of time and effort. I got a wicked idea; not sure you would be a willing test subject,” said Valeria
“Tell me your idea, first science buddy,” asked Annie
“What about creating a device that allows a wearer to mimic the superpower of anyone who wears a similar pairing device,” replied Valeria
“You just want to try web swing for yourself, don’t you,” asked Annie.
“What’s so wrong about a swing through the city without a care in the world,” said Valeria
“Trust Val, it’s not all fun trying to wash your secret costume without mum or dad, who both have similar powers to finding out your powers are already activated and that you are sneaking out to fight criminals with a super genius tech support girl in the chair,” said Annie.
“Yeah, I know the feeling, Annie. When Mom, Dad, Uncle Johnny and Uncle Ben go on great adventures together and leave Dufus and me behind with Aunt Alice to babysit us. I’m sure she’s not blind. Sometimes she always catches trying to sneak out,” said Valeria
“She must be a mutant with heightened senses,” said Annie.
“It’s not that; she’s just super wise to all tricks; so shall do that create a power friendship synch bracelets,” asked Valeria
“Okay, let’s do that, partner,” said Annie.
"right behind you BSFF," said Valeria

A/n: I hope you enjoy this, I took three hours to write and edit this. I got a little carried away with it (I think) and I apologise for it being sooo long.
So far your senior year had been amazing, you were destined to finish top of your class which would make your dad happy and you had also been offered an internship with him, which some of your classmates thought was bullshit but hey, considering you didn’t want to go to some flashy expensive school, you were doing pretty good, even with your dad’s help.
That was until you went out to your first party with your best friend Macie, she thought it was about time you let loose and have fun. You didn’t want to go and had even told your mum and dad who only encouraged you to go out, so that plan backfired. So here you were, standing in Macie’s living room, red solo cup in your hand while dancing with your best friend, happy to have listened to her for once and let loose.
“How do you know this many people?”
Macie shakes her head “I don't know them, they’re Tyler’s friends from his school.” I nod in agreement, looking around the room for Tyler, Macie's boyfriend who is chatting with a guy I’ve never seen before. His brown slightly curly hair, puppy dog eyes and a smile that causes butterflies inside of my stomach. Macie grabs my shoulder, following my line of sight before laughing and shaking her head.
“Peter Parker.”
“Peter Parker” I repeat his name, loving the way it sounds as it falls from my lips. “He’s fucking hot.”
Macie laughs at me before nodding. “Yeah he’s alright, he goes to school with Tyler. He’s a bit of a ladies man but I don’t know too much about him.”
“He’s into science and technology?” I almost feel bad for questioning the boy's intelligence, judging him solely on his handsome appearance.
“Yeah, Tyler, Peter and a guy called Ned won their last science fair two weeks ago.” Macie informs. “Let's go say hi.” Macie grabs my arm pulling me through the body’s of unknown teenagers before we come face to face with Peter and Tyler.
“Hey babe, we were just talking about you.” Tyler pulls Macie into his side, kissing the side of her head.
My eyes fall to Peter, both of us smiling at each other. I feel my skin fall hot slightly as his eyes wander over my body. I mentally thank myself for wearing my red leather shirt and lace crop top.
“I’m Peter.”
“Y/n.” I smile before hearing someone clear their throat. Turning my attention to Macie, a cocky smirk on her face.
“Tyler and I want to play beer pong, want to join?”
“You’d have to be partners though.” Tyler quickly adds, before walking away with Macie to the table to set the game up, not even waiting for a response.
I look to my side slightly silently asking Peter if he’d like to join.
“I need words Y/n.” I take in a sharp breath at what Peter just said to me.
“Uh, would you, um like to be my partner for beer pong?” Peter licks his lips before smirking at me.
“Of course.” His hand falls to the middle of my back as he guides me to the table Tyler and Macie had just set up. Macie raises her eyebrow at me, causing me to blush and shake my head, knowing exactly what she is thinking.
“Okay so standard rules, but we haven’t decided what the winner gets yet.” Tyler states.
I watch Macie stand on her tippy toes whispering something into Tylers ear causing him to chuckle.
“Okay, the winner has to make out with their team member.”
I sigh at my best friend before nodding.
“Fine, okay.”
“Sound a little more excited.” Peter whispers, flicking his eyes from mine to my lips. I roll my eyes, ignoring his comment as Macie flips a coin.
“Heads.” I call quickly, watching Macie reveal the coin, heads being the winner.
Tyler throws Peter the ball, catching it perfectly in one swift motion.
“Fuck.” I whisper to myself, seeing him smirk slightly. He surely didn’t hear me, did he?
I stand beside Peter as he lines up the first shot, landing the ball into the cup causing Tyler to groan.
“Lucky shot.” Macie mumbles before lining up to take her shot, missing the cup as I pout.
“Awh Mace.” Macie narrows her eyes at me before flipping me off.
I grab the ball, lining up the shot, before I can let go of the ball, Peter’s hand falls to my elbow, his other placed in the middle on my back.
“Lower, otherwise you’ll miss and we want to win.” His warm breath fans my neck causing my heartbeat to pick up. I let the ball slip through my fingertips, missing the cup I was originally planning on but landing the ball in the one behind.
“That’s unfair.” Macie complains before drinking from the cup.
The game continues with us losing our lead, until the last cup for both teams. I take a deep breath, knowing it's my go and praying that I won’t miss this shot.
“Breathe, lower your arm, line it up and sink it.” Peter whispers, his lips against my ear, his hands placed on my hips. I follow his instructions, taking a breath, lowering my arm and letting go of the ball. The room feels like it slows down as the ball bounces on the table, landing into the cup.
“Good girl.”
An uncontrollable whimper leaves my lips which causes his grip on my hips to tighten, feeling my arousal pool in my panties.
“Holy shit, you won!” Macie cheers, clapping her hands as Tyler follows suit.
I don’t get a chance to respond to Macie as my body is spun around, my chest bumping into Peter’s. One of his hands cupping my cheek, the other still on my hip, his lips locking onto mine. I feel my body relax against his lips, putting my arms around his neck deepening our kiss.
Peter smiles against my lips, everyone around us whooping and hollering at our interaction. We pull away from each other, before he leans back in, quickly pecking my lips.
*Optional but I listened to this song while writing this next part*
“I love this song, Y/n come dance.” Macie almost squeals, grabbing my arm and pulling me from Peter’s embrace. “Was that as good as it looked?”
“God yes.”
Macie smiles at me before mouthing the words ‘she got that rich girl la vibe.’ gesturing to me as I flip my hair over my shoulder, laughing at my best friend. Macies hands fall to my hips, swaying to the beat with me, I place my arms around her neck singing the words with her.
Macie goes wide eyed slightly before letting go of my hips, I raise my eyebrow about to protest her actions before feeling a familiar grip. I tilt my head back, resting on his shoulder grinding my ass against his crotch, his grip tightening on my hips.
“Behave.”
I roll my eyes, spinning around in his embrace, without a second thought I lean forward, kissing up his neck before softly biting his earlobe.
“Make me.” I dont have a second to think before I’m being pulled behind Peter, a smug smile on my face. He drags me through the crowd, banging on the bathroom door before pulling me through the door with him.
His lips are instantly on mine, my back against the door, his fingertips running up and down my sides. I grab his wandering hand, placing it on my boob causing him to groan softly. I bite his bottom lip, pulling back as our eyes lock together. His lips fall to my neck, kissing and biting the skin.
“You’re fucking gorgeous.”
His compliment causes a shiver to run down my spine, my fingers running through his hair, pulling on his curly locks earning a moan from his lips. The warmth of his body leaves mine, grabbing my hips and picking me up, I softly squeal, shocked how easily he lifted me. Peter places me on the bathroom counter, tugging on top as I pull the flimsy lace fabric from my body, his lips instantly kissing my boobs, swiping his tongue across my nipple.
“Fuck.” I hiss, watching Peter pull my nipple between his teeth. Peter kisses down my body, pulling my skirt up letting it sit around my waist.
“You’re dripping for me.” Peter presses against my clit through the fabric of my g-string. I slowly rock my hips up, attempting to get some friction.
“Needy little girl.”
I whimper at his words, feeling myself become wetter by the second. A gasp falls from my lips as Peter pulls my panties to the side, blowing on my glistening heat.
“Please.” I beg, causing Peter to chuckle. He trails feather light kisses up my thighs before licking a stripe from my core to my clit. On instinct my fingers tangle in his hair, my head falling back against the mirror, mouth agape as moans and gasps fall from my lips like water.
“Yes, fuck.”
Peter slides a finger inside of me, causing my pussy to clench around the contact. His lips cover my clit, sucking on the bundle of nerves earning a hiss from me. Peter adds another finger, pumping in and out of my pussy, my hand slaps across my mouth, muffling my cries of pleasure. Peter looks up at me, using his free hand to pull my elbow.
“Let me hear you.”
I flutter my eyes closed, Peter’s lips on my thigh, sucking and biting the skin, his fingers still buried deep inside of me.
“I’m close.”
The second the words escape me, I regret them. Peter pulls away from me, standing to undress himself. Without a second thought I fall to my knees, looking up at him through my lashes.
“Naughty girl.”
My hands fall to his pants, unbuttoning his jeans before hurriedly unzipping them. I palm his cock through his underwear, a breathless moan escaping from his lips. I tug at the fabric, having his help to pull it off. His dick springs free, my breath hitching at the size of him.
I take him in my hand, pumping up and down slowly, swirling my tongue around the head. Peter bites his lip, his fingers brushing through my hair, his eyes focusing on my every move. I lick from the base to the tip before taking him fully in my mouth, bobbing my head up and down. The sounds Peter makes cause my pussy to ache, his fingers pull on my hair, helping to guide my mouth. I gag around him as he hits the back of my throat, an unholy sound falling from his lips at the contact.
Peter pulls my mouth off him, pulling me up by my arms, placing me on the counter again. I grab his cock, running it up and down my slit, causing Peter to chuckle.
“Someone’s eager.” I simply answer him by positioning his cock at my entrance, hooking my legs around his waist to pull him into me.
I moan at the feeling of him inside of me, his eyes flutter closed at the contact, moaning at the sensation.
“You feel so good.” I smirk at him, watching his eyes flick to where our bodies meet, his thumb brushing against my clit.
I pull Peter closer to me, locking our lips together as he slides in and out of me, deeper with each thrust, causing my body to tingle, the speed of his thumb picking up before slowing right back down.
I pull away from our kiss, trailing kisses down his jaw, running my tongue down his neck, sucking and biting the skin. Peter grips my ass at the contact of my lips, spanking me hard as I rack my nails down his back.
“Just like that Peter.” I whisper in his ear, softly biting his earlobe as he groans.
“Fucking so good.”
I feel the band inside of me tighten, my pussy tightening around his cock.
“Cum for me, come on baby.” My eyes roll back, shocks of electricity flowing through me, holding onto Peter tight. Peter moans against my shoulder, biting the skin before finding his own release.
Before he pulls out, Peter kisses me, holding my face in his hands.
“You’re incredible.” Blush heats up my cheeks as he pulls out of me, hissing at the loss of contact. Peter and I both get dressed quickly, walking back out to the party, moving through the crowd to find Macie and Tyler.
I lock eyes with Macie as her mouth falls open, quickly rushing over to me and pulling me away from Peter.
“You had sex.”
“Shh, don’t tell the whole party.”
Macie rolls her eyes, moving my hair over my shoulder before wincing.
“Have fun explaining that one to your dad.”
I go wide eyed slightly, turning to the hallway mirror and seeing three hickies on my neck.
“Fucking hell.”
Macie chuckles at my expense, pulling me with her to go back to Peter and Tyler. I frown my brows, Tyler now by himself.
“Uh, where did Peter go?” I question as Tyler shrugs. I quickly look around the living room, my eyes landing on Peter watching him slip out the front door without a word.
“Did he just leave?” Macie asks almost dumb founded.
“Guess so.”
“Don’t beat yourself up Y/n, just be lucky you didn’t sleep with Peter, he’s a bit of a fuckboy to be honest.” Tyler chuckles as I feel my body fall cold. Tyler looks between myself and Macie, choking on his drink slightly. “You fucked him.”
“I’m going to head home.” I mumble, Macie quickly pulling me into a hug, walking me to her front door, the same one Peter had just ducked out of.
“You can stay.”
“It’s fine Macie, I want to shower and sleep in my own bed.” Macie smiles weakly at me, pulling me into another embrace. “I’ll text you.”
Macie nods in response as I pull my phone out, calling Happy to pick me up.
--
The next morning I wake up feeling rough, hating that I mixed different alcohol’s and feeling off about having slept with a complete stranger, knowing how unlike me that is.
“Good morning Y/n, your dad would like to see you in the kitchen.” Friday’s voice bounces off my bedroom walls. I groan at the announcement, grabbing a scrunchie to throw my hair up in a messy ponytail. I quickly look over my outfit, sweatpants and a stark industries crop jumper, good enough. I grab a pair of socks before walking out onto the cold tiles.
“Friday summoned me.” I announce walking into the kitchen, seeing my dad and the avengers sitting around the table. “Oh awesome.” I whisper.
“And what time did you get home?”
“Eleven, maybe.”
I open the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water and sitting on the bench, facing everyone.
“How was the party? You’ll have to tell us everything.” Wanda smiles as I nod.
“Y/n Stark, what is that on your neck?” My dad bellows, standing up and tilting my head, looking at the hickies on my neck.
“Nothing.” I push my dad away as everyone at the table snickers.
“You did tell her to go out and party.” Steve states causing my dad to turn and point at the super soldier.
“Stay out of this Rogers.”
“She’s young Tony, let her enjoy her last few weeks of school.” Nat pipes up causing my dad to tut and sit back down.
‘Thank you.’ I mouth to Steve and Nat as they both smile and nod at me.
“So why do you look like you’re having a meeting?”
“We are welcoming a new member to the avengers.” My dad states, sipping his coffee.
“Right, so why did you want me here for that?”
“Because you haven’t met him yet and you’re both going to be interning for me in a few weeks, thought it might be good to be acquainted.” I nod in response to my dad, taking a sip of my water.
“They’re all waiting for you.” I hear Happy’s voice say as he walks into the room, all of the avengers stand and look behind me, I turn and look over my shoulder, feeling my heart beat pick up, my mouth falling dry.
“Peter.” His name falls from my lips in shock.
Peter’s eyes lock onto me as he swallows harshly.
“Peter, buddy, welcome.” My dad greets him like an old friend, his eyes moving from mine to my dads.
I feel a hand grip my forearm, a gasp pulling me out of my thoughts, I quickly pull out of the grip.
“Get out of my head Wanda.”
“He did this.” Wanda whispers gesturing to my neck, Nat and Steve both looking at me. I hold my finger to my lips, pleading with my eyes.
“How much did you see?” Nat whispers to Wanda. I don’t hear Wanda’s response as my dad calls me over to him. I quickly slip off the bench, Nat with a small smirk on her face. I sigh softly knowing they know.
“You called.”
“Peter Parker, this is my daughter Y/N Stark, she will be interning with you and is typically on our communications for missions.” My dad states as Peter puts out his hand for a headshake, I scoff before accepting his gesture.
“So what’s your ability?”
“He’s Spiderman, isn’t it great to finally put a face to the suit.” My mum says, standing next to Happy. Instantly, everything from last night makes sense, the smirk he had when I whispered, the soft touches, leaving the party abruptly. It all makes sense, he knew what he was doing. He could read me like a fucking book.
“Y/n is very fond of you, she studied your web abilities.” My dad states, causing me to run my hand down my face.
“Ah, well, maybe you should show me what you learnt and I could fill in any blanks.” Peter states, causing my dad to hum in approval.
“Why don’t you do that now while I get paperwork ready for you to sign.” My dad smiles. I feel a hand cup my shoulder, looking to the right and seeing Steve.
“Steve Rogers.”
Peter grabs his outstretched hand, wincing slightly at the grip Steve gives. I slightly elbow the super soldier, knowing Wanda told him what she saw.
“Maybe Banner should go with them, do you want a teenage boy to be left alone with your teenage daughter?” Steve asks, my dad sighs before chuckling.
“Clearly she was with a teenage boy last night, I’m sure Peter here is harmless compared to last night's company.”
I hear Nat and Wanda giggle before passing it off as something else.
“Go.” My dad instructs, I sigh, turning away from him and leading the way to the lab.
The walk to the lab is silent, only my dad’s voice bouncing off the walls asking the group why they’re being weird.
I walk over to my desk, grabbing the file on ‘Web Slinger’ and handing it to Peter.
“Take it.”
Peter’s hand brushes against mine before he grabs the file, sitting in the chair beside mine.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
I scoff, shaking my head. “Oh yeah because you gave me time to tell you.”
Peter sighs, putting the file on my desk before pulling my chair closer to him.
“Could have told me beforehand.”
“It didn’t seem to matter, how was I supposed to know who you were?”
Peter stays quiet, his eyes looking everywhere but mine.
“Not like you stayed afterwards for us to actually have a conversation.”
“I had shit to do, people to save.” Peter states, now looking at me dead in the eyes.
“Fine, I get that but couldn’t you give me your number or some way of contacting you?”
Peter once again stays quiet.
“Did you tell them? Because Captain America seems to be protective.”
I scoff, rolling my eyes. “No, I didn’t tell them. Wanda Maximoff read my mind, guess she told him.” Peter sighs before I continue, “Look, we can just forget it, okay? You’re a part of their team now and we’re just going to have to move on.”
Peter’s hand falls to my knee, his thumb rubbing against the fabric of my sweatpants.
“What if we don’t move on? What if we start something?”
“Peter, I don’t want you to feel you have to start something because I’m your boss's daughter, if you want to forget it ever happened we can.”
Peter tuts, moving his hand from my knee to my face.
“I haven’t stopped thinking about you. I meant what I said last night, you’re incredible” My heartbeat picks up, butterflies erupting inside of me causing Peter to smirk. “I have an effect on you.”
“Cocky arent you.”
Peter smirks smugly, before brushing his lips against mine.
“If you don’t want to try this, stop me.” Peter hesitates for a few seconds before I close the gap between us, kissing him. Peter’s hands move under my thighs, picking me up from the chair and placing me on my desk.
“Peter Parker!” Peter jumps away from me at the shouting of my dad’s voice. “You two have some explaining to do.”
Peter scratches the back of his neck, looking at me as I shrug lightly.
“Maximoff told me, I should have listened to Rogers, but don't tell him I said that.” My dad walks over to us, grabbing the chair Peter once sat in. “I’m listening.”
Peter takes a deep breath before explaining it all to my dad, leaving out a few details as I but in to fill any holes.

Flufftober - Day 2
2 - Sneaking Out Together
@prompts-in-a-barrel prompt in bold. Written for @flufftober2021 's event.
Pairing: Loki x Stark!reader
Tags: fluff, fluff FLUFFFFFFF (this is flufftober, of course there’ll be fluff). A tiny tiny bit of angst in the beginning (if you really squint) and maybe… maybe some father issues as well. I’m not discussing this with my therapist.
Word count: 1,2K
A/N: Listen. There isn’t an actual “sneaking out” because technically it isn’t. But it’s the most similar thing it could be, and honestly I like how it ended up.
Tumblr media
Gif not mine.
“There was only one rule you had to follow”, started Tony Stark, in front of fucking everyone. The whole team was in there, and you wanted to bury your face in your arms, but you couldn’t. You couldn’t because if there was one thing you’d never lose, it was your dignity. So, you sat right, with your eyes directly on your father’s as he kept going on how bad it was what you had just done. “Just one rule about dating. What have I told you?”.
“Don’t get in trouble”, you repeated, the phrase already memorized. “You know, I don’t see what the big deal is about. I never got in trouble, and I’m not a little kid anymore, you can’t actually control my dating life”.
“As long as you live under my roof, you can’t date criminals. No, wait. As long as you’re an Avenger, for moral stuff, you can’t date criminals”.
“Firstly, he’s not a criminal. Secondly, I only live with you because I’m an Avenger. Thirdly, we’re not dating”.
“Are we not?”, inquired Loki from the doorframe. You shot a panicked look over him, and calmed yourself down as you saw his teaseful smirk showing across his face.
“Can we talk alone?”, you asked, and Tony and you walked out of the room to talk in the corridor. “I just… I just want you to support me, dad. That’s all I ever wanted”, you said, lowering your voice and head, knowing all of your confidence had faded away as soon as he looked at you with that disappointed look he’s always looked at you with.
“I can support you in many things, dear. I really do. I love your work in the science projects you’re doing… and your new friends are great, and I know how hard it is for you to socialize”, you sighed, and looked at him knowingly, because if your relationship could be described in a phrase, it definitely was “not the point I’m trying to make”.
“But?”.
“But how can I support you when you’re making a huge mistake?”.
You sighed in frustration and wiped a tear away.
“If you think being around him is a mistake then why did you even let him in the team to begin with? Why didn’t you just refuse Thor's demand of keeping him here? You know me, you knew I’d get attached”.
“So, you’re admitting you’re dating?”.
“Yes, we are something. Maybe not dating. I don’t know what we are”.
“Oh, what a great way to tell me you’re fucking. Great, nice. I love to hear that my little…”.
“No, not your ‘little-something’, dad. I’m an adult now. So take it or leave it. This is what’s happening, and whether you like it or not, Loki is actually really nice to me. He’s a gentleman, he treats me right, he’s all the Prince Charming you’d think an actual prince is”.
“Just… do me a favor and don’t lie for him, would you? He’s got that much already on him”.
“I’m not lying”, you looked at him defiantly, yet with that tenderness he always saw in you, even as a little kid.
Tony sighed, knowing you were honest.
“Please, don’t let him take your goodness away”.
That same night you couldn’t sleep. You rolled around in your bedsheets, grasping to them for your dearest dreams, but anxiety won, once again. You thought of your studies, your homework, your grades. You thought of your father and your dating life. You thought of Loki. You thought of him way too often. You knew —you were sure— you had fallen irremediably in love with him.
Who wouldn’t? He truly was prince charming.
Speaking of which, you heard a soft knocking at your window. You got up from bed and covered yourself up with a blanket, walking to see who was calling you at such late hours of the night.
The moonrays shone brightly and they were the only way you could see around; otherwise, it would be only darkness. Nights were better now, and Loki was in there, waving hello with that big smile of his, looking up at you as if he were Romeo. He truly was.
You smiled back and opened your window, looking around for any sign of your parents or Jarvis’s cameras being a bitch, and when there wasn’t any, you finally rested your elbows on your window frame and gave him the dreamy eyes he loved to be stared at with.
“My little love?”, he called in a whisper, yet you could still hear it.
“Dear”, you called him back. “Why are you awake?”.
“I can’t sleep without you”, he said, and you smiled involuntarily. Maybe your feelings weren’t so out of place after all. Maybe he felt the same way, and the only thing in your way was your dad and his prejudices.
“Really?”, you laughed softly, and he laughed too.
“Why are you awake, pray tell?”.
“Thoughts”.
“Of what?”.
“Of who, you may say”, you said, and he raised his eyebrows, wondering. “Of you, of course. And of my school books, that’s for sure”.
“Love and anxiety, all in one big package”, he said, and you rested your head over the heels of your hand. Did you just admit your love for him? And did he take it well? “I think it’s only fair for me to invite you to the library. The one from the compound is open at any time, right?”.
“Is this a study date at 4am?”.
“Darling, your idea of romanticism is so nerdy”, he laughed. “But if you may call it a date, then I’ll bring the candles”, he added, appearing a rose in his hand. “Shall I quote Shakespeare, too? Or is it enough for…?”.
“Well, no need to mock me, now”, you chuckled, while reaching for your clothes. “Meet you there?”.
“I’ll be there in a second, quite literally”, he said right before vanishing under a veil of green lights.
The night was spent with chattery over homework, with fun illusions he made in his hands, playing games and kissing —a lot. The night was spent so much, tiredness finally fell over you two, and before you could even realize, the sun had bathed both of your sleepy figures bent over the table, head resting over your arms. Loki was right in front of you and his legs intertwined with yours under the table. Books spread everywhere, you even used some as pillows. Not even once, you realized someone could walk in the library and let everyone know where you were last night.
And, as said, Tony and Pepper walked nonchalantly into the study area of the library, only to find you two sleeping over a pile of undone homework. You still had the rose behind your ear and a smile you wouldn’t be able to wipe off even awake. Pepper smiled and looked at Tony, who was staring in realization.
“They seem… good together”.
“You could even say happy? Good for each other?”, hinted Pepper, fighting back a giggle.
“Maybe… maybe they were right after all. I could give the guy a chance”, he nodded, rolling his eyes. “Now, let’s get those papers and close the curtains, they seem like they just fell asleep”.

You had only seen Tony Stark cry once.
It was your first ever science fair at Midtown and you, without the help of your father, built a fully functioning robot. Standing at five feet tall, it was equipped with its own Artificial Intelligence and even mimicked your own movements. You stood proudly next to the figure, basking in the amazement that was oozing off your fellow classmates and teachers. They were all clapping, whispering to each other how amazing it was that you, at your young age, could build something so amazing, as your science teacher awarded you the first place medal. With the heavy metal dangling around your neck, you took a dramatic bow, your robot doing the same, and the crowd erupting in applause once again.
After the smoke cleared and the crowd dispersed, you stood with your hands clasped behind your back admiring your own work. You were so wrapped up in the shining bolts, metal glistening, and hard work that you put into your project that you hadn’t even realized your father was sneaking up behind you. He placed his large hands on your shoulders, shaking you gently and causing you to jump a little, but you could recognize the feel of his hands anywhere. The rough callused fingers, the defined lines that painted his palms, and the ring placements that were unmoving were all things that allowed you to know your father was standing behind you before you even turned around. Turning around you had the biggest smile on your face, ready for him to engulf you in a hug, but it was then that you saw the redness of his nose and his swollen eyes. As quickly as the smile appeared on your face, it faded.
“Dad, what’s wrong? Did someone get hurt?” You asked frantically, your small hands gripping his forearm, eyes searching his face for an answer.
“No, no, pumpkin,” He said sniffling, with a smile now growing on his face, “I’m just so proud of you.” He pulled your much smaller body in now, giving you the tightest hug he had ever given you in your twelve years of living. You gave in immediately, pressing your face against his chest with your eyes closed and hoping to remember this moment forever. Your dad had not only shown up, but was also so proud of you that he was crying in the middle of this empty gymnasium over something you did.
He pulled away abruptly, holding you by your shoulders once again and smiling that wide smile once more. “How about we get some ice cream kiddo?”
That was the first and only time you had ever seen your dad cry. It was also the first and only time you felt like you had lived up to his standards. Everytime you invented something, or did something after that, it felt like it had paled in comparison to that one day. Maybe it’s why that memory was so bittersweet, and why you resented your dad so much. Because he was capable of being proud of you, it just only happened once and you spent your whole life, up until the day he died, trying to make him that proud of you again.
But here he was, in your bedroom, holding your picture, and crying. His eyes were much more red and swollen this time and his face visibly wet, and among seeing you, looked as if he’d seen a ghost. For a moment, you forgot you really were a ghost, not alive in this world. So you just stood there, swaying slightly from side to side trying to remember what his face would look like after this moment was gone.
“Y/n?” He whispered, voice shaky and nasally. All you could do was nod lightly, allowing a tear to fall from your eye. Up until this moment you hadn’t even realized that there were growing ponds in your eyes and all it took for it to spill was a simple shake of your head. You didn’t know if you should smile or speak but you seemed out of control of your own emotions as your mouth hung slightly open. Before you could think of what to do next, your dad got up in one swift motion and ran over to you, wrapping his arms around your frame that was still much smaller than his.
At this point he was sobbing, hands cradling your hair, as if he was trying to remember what the texture of your hair was like. You stood there with your hands at your side before moving to hug him back, your hands hooking under his arms. You were now crying too, like a tall child and it was at this moment that you realized you were actually hugging your dad. The dad you couldn’t get over missing, so much so that you went back in time just for this moment.
And there you both stood, two ghosts holding onto each other
A few moments had passed after your teary reconciliation and you had both sat on your bed, laughing to stop yourself from crying even though neither of you had said a word.
“What are you doing here, kiddo?” He questioned, examining your face to tell if it was the real you. You had the small freckle on your nose still, so he assumed it was.
“I built a time machine..” You laughed out, avoiding his gaze not wondering what he would think of it. He was silent for a moment, which caused you to look up at him to see him staring at you with wide eyes and a huge grin. You smiled back, less shy.
“With Peter.” You admitted, voice small, this time looking him directly in his eyes to know what he thought about it. All he did was let out a large laugh as he clutched his stomach gasping for air. He laughed for about two whole minutes before calming down and composing himself. Somewhere in there you were laughing with him, just happy to see him laughing once again.
“How far in the future are you from?” He questioned, almost as a joke, but you could tell he genuinely wanted to know.
“2023, Dad.” You answered, your own reality suddenly draining the joy from your face. Somehow you knew that you couldn’t stay here, even if you wanted to more than anything.
“Why are you here, Y/N?” He sighed, the real question slipping out.
“I want you to come back with me dad, the world is not the same without you, I’m not the same withou-” You started but he cut you off abruptly.
“I’m dead?” He asked, less sad than you would’ve imagined he would be among knowing he only had two years left.
“Y-yes? Maybe I’m not supposed to tell you that but you are. I’m a mess without you, we have no time together before you sacrifice yourself for the world. You left Peter the Avengers, which is kind of how we got here in the first place, but you have to come back and fix it. I never got to live up to your standards, I never got to make you proud. I didn’t get to fix it, Dad, I wanted to make you proud and I never got to. So you have to come back. You have to see Morgan, she misses you so much. And Peter, oh my God, Peter is a mess without you. He only started getting better when we built this time machine together but I’m worried he’s going to fall apart when we get back if you aren’t there. And Pepper, she pretends like she’s all okay for Morgan’s sake, but she’s not. She cries all the time and she just is a wreck without you. We all are, the world needs you.”
You knew you didn’t let him get a word in but you didn’t want him to object. You wanted him to listen to you and feel bad enough that he would comply. But you knew him, and you knew he wouldn’t come, but you had to try.
“Y/n, you always made me proud. No matter how much I said it, you always did. You were my greatest achievement in my whole life. After you disappeared I realized how little I told you that, how hard I was on you. I thought I was doing it for your own good, to make you tougher and stronger. But you were always strong, you were always my little fighter. I love you so much, and I want to come back with you. But if I come back with you, you won’t be there. You, Peter, and everyone who disappeared in the blip won't come back. I have to stay here, and I know it’s hard and I wish I could have more time with you. You have to go back, without me. Know that you are only the good parts of me and I’m sorry you went your whole life thinking the opposite. I am so proud of you, bumblebee. And I’m so sorry but you have to leave. You are messing with time, it’s going to have repercussions so you have to go.”
Both you and him were crying again and he was holding onto your tear-stained face. You didn’t want to leave him but you knew he was right, you had to leave before you messed up the fabric of time. “I love you, Dad, I don’t want to go.” You cried out, trying to hold onto him for some more time. He let a few more tears fall before pulling you in.
“I know, let me walk you back to the lab.”
You and him walked back to the lab, talking about things you both thought wouldn’t mess up your timelines. Having to leave would be much harder now that you were getting along with your dad like you always wanted. This small talk, the catching up, him smiling just for you, it was everything you wanted and you were about to leave it all behind.
As you entered the lab, you saw Peter standing with his back to the entrance, looking at the city illuminated at night. Upon hearing your footsteps, he turned around and saw you and your dad staring back at him. Without a second thought, he ran towards your dad, giving him a hug that could only mean “I missed you” and “Goodbye”. It was bittersweet to watch them hug like this. You knew that Peter needed this, maybe as much as you did, and to your surprise you weren’t jealous of Peter. You were happy for him, you knew he looked up to him and had been a mess since he left, so this was a nice thing to see.
It was then that you realized your feelings for Peter had morphed into something else entirely. Watching him initiate small talk with your dad, smiling and laughing like no time had passed, it warmed your heart. If this was a few months ago you would have scoffed, made some remark about Peter being a kiss ass, and then stepped in between the two of them. But this was now, and prior to your reunion with your dad, you had kissed Peter, something you had forgotten about til just now.
As you attempted to push the memory to the back of your head you saw your dad whisper something to Peter. In an attempt to respect their privacy, you turned your head slightly, but turned back just in time to see Peter nodding his head and smiling.
“Of course, Mr. Stark.” he smiled, giving him one last tight hug before Peter stepped back, his eyes glossed over. He gave you a tight lipped smile before he walked back to the platform, giving you and your dad some space.
You stepped in front of your dad for one last time, taking in all his features once more, your breath hitching in your throat.
“Bye, dad.”
“Bye, pumpkin.”
With one last hug, and a tear shed, you were on the platform with Peter, hand in hand with the blue light surrounding you once more. This time you kept your eyes open and watched as your dad disappeared into the fog. And then he was gone. Just like that you were back in your lab like no time had passed. Looking around and realizing that your dad was truly gone, the grief hit you again. Falling to the floor you gripped your chest, the sobs you’ve been holding back finally coming out. Peter was at your side in an instant, and you and him both cried as you realized that closure hurt a lot more than the unknown.

It had been a week since you had Peter gone back in time to see your father and you couldn’t bring yourself to talk to him. You knew he was probably worried about what your newfound friendship meant to you, but you knew that seeing him would only remind him of your dad. You also wanted to ignore the fact that you kissed him and couldn’t stop thinking about his lips on yours once again.
So you decided to make up with Harry, finding him in the hallway and pulling him into an empty closet in the middle of the school day. With the lights off, you leaned up on your tip-toes, holding his face in your hands and pressing gentle kisses under his ear and all the way up to his lips.
“I’m sorry I yelled, baby, let’s make up.” You smiled, knowing he wouldn’t be able to see it but hear it in your tone of voice. You expected to be met with him angry again, pushing him off you and asking you what’s wrong but he didn’t. Instead he kissed you back like he missed you. Like he actually missed you, pressing you back against the hard shelves.
“It’s okay, I shouldn’t have asked. You can use me in any way you want.” He said, in between trying to find your lips in the dark again, pressing small kisses all over your face. This, however, caused you to freeze up, the heat from before turning cold.
“What the fuck, Harry.” You whisper-yelled, pushing him off you once again, looking for a light switch so he could see the anger on your face. But when you turned the lights on, you were the one who was disappointed. You knew Harry’s chiseled face like the back of your hand and you could tell he had concealer under his right eye. He watched as your anger turned into concern and all of a sudden he looked around because he knew you knew.
Wetting the pads of your thumbs, you removed the concealer from under his eye, wiping lightly to reveal the purple and yellow bruising skin underneath.
“What the fuck, Harry..” You said again, this time less angry and more defeated. “Who did this to you?” You said, giving him a peck on the cheek to let him know you were there for him.
“Wasn’t this not our agreement, Y/n? We don’t talk, we fuck, that’s it.” He sounded pissed but you knew it was because you backed him into a corner, almost literally.
“Who. Did. This. To. You.” You said again, this time more firm, letting him know you weren’t letting him leave till he let up. He stared at you for a few moments, before looking down and letting out a deep sigh.
“My father, but it won’t happen again, it was my fault.” He confessed, wincing once you brought your hand up to touch the bruised eye again.
“I’ll kill him.” You stated plainly, like it was just a fact. “And it’s never your fault. No one should put their hands on you. What happened?”
“MJ happened. She was at my place, doing a project with me when he came in and saw us laughing with each other. I was just about to kiss her when he stopped us. He kicked her out and I’ve never felt so shitty, Y/n, I swear. I told him I liked her and he didn’t approve. One thing led to another and then…” He trailed off, gesturing to his eye.
You knew his dad was harsh, but had no idea it was this bad. Honestly, you felt bad. Harry was sweet and truly liked MJ and he deserved to have crushes like any other kid but this was stopping him. An idea entered your mind, but you knew he might not like it.
“What if there was a way you could see MJ on the down low?” You asked, hand gently rubbing his shoulder in attempts to comfort him.
“What do you mean?” He questioned, confusion all over his face.
“What if we go official, on all social media, to your parents, to Pepper, to the school and you let MJ know the plan. Ask her out, and then when you tell your dad you are coming to see me, you go and see her? It could work and your dad will approve of me because elitism and all of that.” You proposed.
“It could work.”

You’ve always been told that your mother was the nicest woman on the planet. And that you were very much like her in that way. Unfortunately, your mother died during childbirth leaving you with your father, Tony Stark. You definitely got his brains, but you were definitely not as loud and rambunctious as him.
When you first met the Avengers, they were surprised that you were Tony’s daughter. In their eyes, you were too nice, too forgiving. You hated violence, but you understood why your father and the other Avengers did what they did. None of what made you you was a bad thing. It’s just, the Avengers were afraid that one day you’d get deeply hurt by your kind and forgiving nature. They couldn’t stand to see you sad so they did whatever they could to protect you. But they knew, that the one that would end up hurting you the most was Tony.
Not that he was a bad father, he just was blind to how his actions affected people. Especially you, his daughter. Tony would spend a lot of time in his lab or away on missions. He did try to make sure a night was set aside every week for just the two of you, but that slowly faded away once Peter Parker came into the picture. The Avengers saw what was happening and felt extremely sorry for you. They would always try to get you to talk about it, but you would always give him an excuse though and never talk unkind about him. This made the Avengers hearts break but also made them love you more. You were a better person than they would ever be.
One morning, you were having breakfast in the common kitchen of the Avengers Tower. Steve was brewing coffee while Sam was making waffles, bacon, and eggs, and Natasha was cutting fruit. Tony drudged in after a long night in the lab, going straight for the coffee.
“Good morning, dad!” You greeted with a large smile on your face.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” Tony greeted in return, grabbing a cup of coffee before walking to press a kiss on your hair. “Have any plans today?” He moved to sit in the empty chair next to you.
“Just school and then a big science project I need to work on this afternoon.”
“Science project? That sounds interesting. Need any help?”
“You aren’t too busy to help?”
“I’m never too busy for you, sweetheart.” The other Avengers eyed each other, carefully watching the interaction. “Why don’t you come straight to the lab after school?”
“Really?”
“Really.” He leaned forward, kissing your cheek, before standing up. “I’ll see you after school.”
“Yeah, see ya then, dad.”
Tony smiled at you before heading back to the lab. The three Avengers in the kitchen with you moved to sit down at the table.
“That will be nice,” Natasha said, slowly. “When was the last time you worked on something in the lab with him?”
“Oh, a few months, I think,” you answered. “But he’s been busy, saving the world and helping Peter get his feet on the ground now that he’s an Avenger.”
“You know you don’t have to do that, Y/N,” Steve said.
“Do what?”
“Make excuses for him. He’s your father, he should spend more time with you than he does.”
“He spends time with me. It’s just that Peter doesn’t have a father in his life. Dad feels the need to step into that roll. It’s alright.”
“I don’t know how you do it, Y/N/N,” Sam said, shaking his head. “I don’t know how have been able to maintain such a positive attitude throughout everything.”
You just shrugged your shoulders. “It’s not that hard.”
“You know that if it gets too much for you, that we’re here for you right?” Natasha comforted. “Any of us would gladly put your father in his place.”
“I know that, Nat. But I don’t need any of you hurting each other. Thanks for the offer though.” You stood up, swinging your backpack over your shoulder and putting the dishes you used in the sink. “Thanks for breakfast guys! I’ll see you after school!” And then you were gone.
Steve sighed. “I’m worried,” he said. “She’ll break one day. He’ll do something to hurt her and I can’t bare to stand by and watch it.”
“We can’t do anything until she says,” Nat said. “If we do anything, she’ll be disappointed in us. All we can do right now it remind her that we’re here for her and watch carefully.”
~~~
School went slowly, with you constantly watching the time. All you wanted to do was go home and work in the lab with your dad. It had been longer than you’d like to admit since it was just you and Tony in the lab. When you got home, you swung by the kitchen for a snack before making your way to the lab. As you neared, you heard laughter coming from the room. You entered to see Tony and Peter working together on a new Spider-Man suit, laughing. Bruce was on the far end of the lab, minding his own business. You slowly came up to your dad and Peter.
“Hey, dad,” you greeted, smile on your face. “Hey, Pete.”
“Hey, sweetheart,” your dad turned around. “Spidey here ruined his suit during lunch today, so we’re just fixing it up. Mind if you wait a little before we start on your project?”
“Yeah. Sure.”
“Hey, Y/N,” Bruce called, having heard the conversation. “I can help you if you’d like.”
“Oh, no, it’s okay Bruce,” you shook your head. “I can wait. I’ll just be up in my room until you need me, okay dad?” But Tony wasn’t listening, he was back to work with Peter. “Dad?”
“Huh?” Tony hummed, not moving to look at you.
“Just have FRIDAY tell me when you’re ready.”
“Oh, yeah, okay.”
You smiled kindly at Bruce before heading to your room. Bruce sighed as he watched you leave. He knew you had hope that Tony would call you down tonight, but this hadn’t been the first interaction like this that he had witnessed. It hurt him to see you seemly so naive to what was happening to you.
You never did get called down to the lab. But instead of hiding out in your bedroom to do homework all night, you eventually moved out into the common area. Nat, Steve, Sam, Wanda, Vision, Rhodey, Bucky, and Bruce were all already out there, putting together dinner. Bruce had already told them what he had witnessed in the lab and they all already had to stop Bucky from barging down there and giving Tony a piece of his mind. They all smiled though, at you as you walked to the table and set your things down.
“How was school today, Y/N?” Rhodey asked.
“It was school,” you answered with a shrug of your shoulders. “Not too terrible, but also not too amazing.”
“Anything we can do to help you with your homework?” Steve asked.
“No,” you shook your head. “I just came out because I didn’t want to be alone while I worked.”
They all eyed each other and silently promised each other that they wouldn’t let anything ruin your night. They all pitched in to help you with your homework, even though you never asked. All of you worked together to make dinner, laughing and dancing around the kitchen. It was a night to remember. You fell asleep at the table, head fallen into a textbook. Bucky gently took you in his arms and tucked you in for the night. Wishing you sweet dreams with a kiss to your forehead.
You woke up and did your routine like any other day. This time was a little different though, both Peter and Tony were at the table eating breakfast before you.
“Good morning,” you said with a smile.
“Good morning,” Peter replied.
“Did you spend the night Pete?”
“Yeah, by the time Mr. Stark and I were finished, it was too late.”
“Hmm,” you hummed, grabbing a yogurt and a throw-a-way spoon. “Did you get everything fixed?”
“We did,” Tony answered. “Even started designs for a new suit for him.”
“Oh… I’m glad you two got some work done. I’ll see you guys after school.”
“Have a great day, honey!” Tony shouted as you entered the elevator.
~~~
School was the same as the day before, only this time you were coming home with an award for first place in your classes science fair. You were so excited to share the news with your dad. You went straight to the lab to show him.
“Hey, Dad!” You excitedly greeted as you rushed in. “Look what I—“
“Can’t talk right now, sweetheart,” Tony interrupted, heading to his waiting suit. “Peter’s in trouble. I’ll talk to you later though.”
You couldn’t get another word in before he was gone. You waited to move until you couldn’t hear or see hie suit anymore before you went to the common area. Bucky, Vision, and Wanda were in there, sitting around the room.
“Hey, Little Stark!” Bucky said when he sensed you. “How was school? Did your project go well?”
“It did,” you nodded, pulling out the award. “I got first place.”
“You did?” Bucky jumped up to see the award. “Congrats!” He spun you around, causing you to laugh.
“Thank you, Buck.”
“We have to celebrate!”
“Have you showed your father?” Vision asked. “I’m sure Mr. Stark would be so proud.”
“I tried,” you said. “But apparently something happened with Peter that he had to hurry and get to him.” You could see the looks of disappointment with a hint of anger they were giving you. “But that’s okay. I’ll just tell him when he’s back.”
~~~
Unfortunately, you didn’t get to see your dad for the rest of the day or before you left for school the next morning. It did disappoint you a little, that he seemed to be so busy as of late, but you also understood that the things he did were important. You were sitting in your math class, waiting for it to start, when the windows shattered and five people dressed in black from head to toe came bursting in. The classmates around you screamed while you jumped in shock.
“Nobody move!” One of the five shouted, a man’s voice. Each of them were holding up guns. “Stay where you are and nobody move!” You and your classmates froze in your spots. “Very good. Now, those of you standing, get in a seat.”
Your classmates quickly did as they were instructed. You kept your backpack that was resting in your lap close. Your father and the other Avengers, had you carry a bracelet in your bag in case of emergencies. Once you put it on, it would activate a signal for help and would form a Iron Man gauntlet onto your hand for protect. You kept your head down as the five people moved to surround the room on all sides.
“We’re looking for Spider-Man!” Another one yelled, again a man’s voice. “We’ve seen him come and go from this building. If any of you know who he really is, better fess up before it’s too late.”
You could feel the eyes of your classmates on you. They all knew whose child you were and who you considered family. So of course they would look at you for that answer. As carefully and quietly as you could, you slipped your hand into your bag and grabbed the bracelet.
“If any of you know the truth about Spider-Man’s identity,” a woman’s voice shouted. “Fess up now or one of your classmates are going to get what’s coming to them.”
You tensed at the sound of all of their guns cocking. You hated violence, but you weren’t about to let any of your classmates get hurt if you had any say. You took a deep breath before slowly standing up from your seat. Suddenly, all eyes and guns were on you.
“I-I-I know…” You shakily said. “I know who he is… I can take you to him.”
“You’re Stark’s kid,” a fourth voice snarled. “She would know who Spider-Man is. She lives at the Tower with the other heroes.”
“Come here, then,” the first man ordered, seemly the one in charge.
You slowly walked towards him, slipping the bracelet fully onto your wrist. You tried hard not to breathe a sigh of relief when the bracelet fully conformed to your wrist and slowly began forming over your hand. You knew that the Avengers would be here soon.
“I know what class he should be in,” you said, quietly.
“Then take us to him,” the first man growled.
You nodded, turning to head towards the door. But before you fully turned, you lifted your hand and used the gauntlet to take out the two people in the back.
“Foolish girl!” The man shouted.
He aimed his gun at you, but you dodged the bullet. All of your classmates took cover under their desks as a fight began. Another one came up began you, shooting at you. The bullet graze your right side. Causing you to scream out in pain. But you kept going. You quickly took out your shooter before taking out another one of the attackers. Leaving just the main guy. You help up your gauntlet covered hand as he held up his gun. You could faintly hear the emergency vehicles coming closer.
“You stupid girl,” the man snarled. “You shouldn’t have done that.”
“I would do anything to protect another’s life,” you said. “That’s how I was raised.”
“Too bad no one will be able to save yours.”
~~~
The Avengers were all in various places around the Tower, going about their own business when FRIDAY sounded the alarm.
“Miss Stark has used her panic bracelet,” FRIDAY announced to them. “She is currently at the school.”
All of the Avengers rushed to suit up.
“Where’s Tony?” Bruce asked, planning on waiting behind until he was deemed needed.
“He hasn’t been seen since yesterday,” Steve answered. “I’m sure that FRIDAY has told him and he’ll meet us there.”
~~~
The man finished his words and two shots were heard. Both the man and yourself falling to the floor. As you fell, you could faintly see Bucky outside the window, sniper riffle in hand. You looked down to see yourself bleeding from the center of your chest and the side where the bullet grazed. Breathing had become difficult. You heard someone running and jumping into the window.
“No, no, no, no,” Bucky rushed, kneeling beside you. “Doll, stay with me.” His metal hand came to press on your wound as his other went to the comm piece in his ear. “I need emergency medical services on the East side. Y/N’s been shot.”
“Bucky…” you rasped, black dots slowly filling your vision.
“Sshh… save your breath, doll. You’re going to be fine.”
“Oh my gosh!” Steve exclaimed, him and Natasha running into the room. They knelt on the other side.
“D-dad…?” You croaked. “W-here’s my d-dad?”
“He’s on his way, sweetie,” Nat said, trying to comfort you.
“T-tell him-m… that I-I’m sorry… I tried… an-and that I for-forgive him…” You barely got all that out before your world went black.
The EMTs arrived almost right after you fell unconscious. The team struggled to stand by and watch them rush you away in an ambulance. They quickly followed behind, arriving at the hospital right after you. You were immediately rushed into surgery and the team was forced to wait in the waiting room. Bucky and Steve were pacing; Vision was floating; Wanda was sitting in a corner, trying to block out everyone’s racing thoughts; Natasha was sitting in a chair, leaning forward with her hands clasped in front of her; Sam was leaning back, arms crossed and foot tapping; and Rhodey and Bruce were trying to get a hold of Tony. They had been there a little more than an hour when Tony and Peter rushed into the waiting room.
“Where is she?” Tony asked, clearly out of breath. “Where’s my daughter?”
“You would know if you answered the emergency alert that was sent out!” Bucky shouted.
“We were a bit busy trying to find these guys and were threatening Peter!”
“You mean the same guys that broke into the school and threatened Y/N’s class?” Steve growled.
“What?” Tony shook his head. “No. They… They… oh my—”
“And you were too busy to come to your own daughter’s rescue?!” Steve continued. “But, why is that a surprise,” Steve chuckled darkly. “You’re always too busy for her.”
“I don’t like the way you’re talking, Rogers. Be very careful.”
“But it’s true!” Bucky yelled. “Time and time again she’s tried to spend time with you, but you push her aside. Either for a mission or for him!” Bucky pointed at Peter, who immediately looked like he wanted to disappear.
“That’s not true!” Tony retorted. “I spend plenty of—“
“It is true, Tony!” Nat yelled, coming up to face the man. “Just in the past two days, you’ve ignored you twice to spend time with Peter. No offensive, Peter. This really isn’t your fault.”
“Did you know that she got first prize in her science class for the project that you didn’t end up helping her on?” Bucky questioned your father.
“I told her that I’d help her after—“
“After you were finished with me,” Peter interrupted Tony. Everyone turned to look at the poor teenager, who was feeling incredibly guilty. “But we never finished. Or even asked her to stay.”
Tony got quiet, immediately searching in his memories for the events of the past few days. And, unfortunately, his teammates were right. He searched his memories back farther, realizing that it made been months since he’d spent any alone time with his own daughter. Tears pricked his eyes.
“What have I done?” He quietly asked, turning the attention on himself. “What have I done?” He ran his hands through his hair, feeling a panic attack coming on. Tony backed up into the wall. “She’ll never forgive me… I’ll never forgive myself… she’ll die not knowing how much I care for her…”
“Tony, Tony,” Rhodey quickly came up to his spiraling friend. “We can’t think like that. Yes, we haven’t heard anything. But Y/N is not going to die.”
“And she’ll forgive you,” Bucky said. “For whatever reason… her last words before she— she wanted you to know that she was sorry and that she forgave you.”
“She was sorry?” Tony repeated. “How—why?”
“She felt like she didn’t try hard enough for you,” Nat answered.
“What? How could she feel that way? And… and how could see forgive me?”
“She was always forgive you,” Bruce replied. “For everything. She always gave you a reason.”
“I’m a terrible father.”
“Damn right you are,” Bucky agreed.
“Bucky,” Nat scolded.
“No, no, Barnes is right,” Tony said, hanging his head. “And if she doesn’t make it… I’ll never get to make it up to her…”
~~~
It was a long and tormenting wait. They were all constantly moving, constantly changing positions. It was scary, not having heard anything after seven hours of you being back there. They were really starting to fear the worst. By the time the tenth hour came, most of them were prepared for the worst when the doctor come out and called for your family. They all rushed up though, Tony in front.
“Surgery was rough,” the doctor started. “She flatlined a few times. We won’t know the full extent of any lasting effects until she wakes. She’s currently in the ICU. We’ve put her in the most secluded area of the ICU so that you all can come back.”
“Thank you, doctor,” Tony said.
“Why don’t we all go back to the Tower and change, bring food back, so that Tony can have some time with Y/N?” Natasha suggested.
The team all nodded in agreement. They left Tony will reassuring smiles and pats as they went to leave. The doctor walked Tony to your room, where he became frozen at the door. His heart broke into a million pieces at the sight of you hooked up to wires and tubes breathing for you. He didn’t try to stop the tears that began to trickle down his cheeks as he took in your body. He’d never seen you, or anyone else, look so fragile. It was clear that you had lost a lot of blood and that the surgery took just as much of a toll on your body as the bullet wounds had. Slowly, his heavy feet made their way to your bedside, pulling the chair up with him. Tony plopped into the chair, immediately grasping your hand in both of his. He held his head to the hands, crying into them.
“I promise that I’ll do better,” he cried. “Be better… for you… you deserve a better father than me… and, from now on, I promise to be the father you deserve…”
He stayed by your side, for days. With the other members of the team switching off to be there for you as well. A week after surgery, the doctor gave the go ahead to take the breathing tube out of your mouth. It was now completely up to you and your body as to when you would wake up. At this time, none of the team members left the hospital. They all wanted to be there when you woke. It was other two days before you flinched. They all were immediately on edge, watching for more movements. Your eyes fluttered next, clearly taking a while to adjust to the bright hospital lights. Tony stood, so that he could be the first one you saw.
“Hey, sweetheart,” he smiled, a teary, tired smile, as your eyes met his.
“D-dad…” you rasped. “I—“
“No need for that,” he shook his head. “You need to rest some more.”
“Hey, doll,” Bucky greeted as him, Steve, and Sam walked up to the other side. The other team members quickly surrounded the bed. “You gave us quite the scare.”
“Never do that again,” Tony pled, holding a kiss to your forehead. “I am so sorry, Y/N,” he whispered, letting a tear fall onto your face. “I am so sorry.”
“Let’s give them some space,” Wanda said quietly. “It’s good to have you back with us.” The team went to wait just outside the room, leaving the father-daughter you alone.
“I’m so incredibly sorry for the way I’ve been treating you, Y/N,” Tony cried. “I don’t know how you could ever forgive me.”
“Be-because… I… love you… as a daught-ter should love… her father… unconditionally…”
“You’re too good for me. Too good for this world. I love you, honey. So, so much.”
You gave your father the best smile you could. “Start over?”
“Yes.” He nodded. “And, first things first, I’m taking all time off so that I can just focus on you and your recovery. Show you that I mean it.”
“Okay,” you nodded. “You just can’t go polar opposite, helicopter parent. Okay? I don’t know how I’ll be able to handle that.”
“Oh, sweetheart, that’s exactly what I plan on doing.”

I just made myself cry imagining this scenario so I’m going to share it.
What if Morgan Stark wasn’t a genius.
She’s very clever, certainly, and creative, but the truth is at 4 years old you can’t tell. She’s bright enough to be in AP classes in high school, but the work is still challenging. She has to work hard to get into a good university and while she does well, she will never be in the top percent of her class. She is able but doesn’t have that intuitive flair for maths, engineering and science that everyone expects of her, being Tony Stark’s daughter.
It’s obvious by the time Morgan is 12 that she isn’t a genius, certainly not one on Tony’s level, and Pepper wonders if it was her fault? She’s an intelligent, able woman but she’s not a genius and never will be.
The worst part is part of Pepper is disappointed. And that makes her feel like a monster. Morgan is a bright, able child with friends, and part of Pepper is disappointed in her daughter.
But the truth is it’s not about Morgan. It’s about Tony and Pepper’s grief. When Morgan was little she was so much like Tony. She looked like him, she had his curiosity, him being a stay at home dad she even acted like him and sounded like him.
But more and more every day, she didn’t. As Morgan went through her teens and became a woman, she acted less and less like Tony, as she matured into a female body and face Pepper could see less and less of Tony’s features in her. A hint in the colour of her eyes and hair. When Morgan came home from her first term at Yale with her hair died a vibrant red/orange ombre Pepper complemented her daughter but wanted to scream inside. It was only a hair colour, it shouldn’t hurt so much.
It wasn’t fair, Pepper knew, to be disappointed in Morgan because she wasn’t Tony. It would screw Morgan up to be compared to a dead person and she adored her daughter more than any living thing. But it felt like she was losing Tony a little more every day and her heart shattered because of it.
It was Pepper’s deepest secret. Her disappointment in Morgan. Because she was honestly proud of her daughter, she honestly loved her, she honestly respected her intelligence, her courage and her passion.
So she took the secret of how much Morgan’s “not Tony-ness” twisted like a knife in her gut every time she saw her daughter to her grave and Morgan never knew. Never even suspected.

{fancy suits from dad}
Ships: Peter Stark & Tony Stark, Pepper Pots/Tony Stark
Warnings: swearing, just fluff otherwise :)
Wc: 2,319
Here’s the thing, Peter Parker grew up in Stark Tower, which eventually became Avengers Tower of course. So whilst his whole class was buzzing about their field trip, all he could think was, “shit, shit shit.” His dad was going to embarrass the hell out of him. His Aunts and Uncles were going to endlessly tease him.
So, no Peter was not looking forward to the field trip. Not in the slightest. He still wanted to go, though. He knew that the rumors of his internship being fake were started by Flash, the annoying teen. He also knew that Flash had not once said his real name, preferring the name Penis Parker. It didn’t bother him as much as it used to. Also since highschool began, Flash had calmed down with his bullying. Well, maybe Flash hadn’t calmed down and high school was just bigger and he had thicker skin. And a new support system with plenty of people to go to.
Peter had been adopted by the Starks when he was a mere ten years old. At first, he was terrible at receiving any gifts or even too much attention. Slowly but surely, he got more and more used to it. Now, he wouldn’t not know what to do if any of that was taken away. Plus, he really did find a liking for expensive suits, however shallow. He looked good in them, and his father always insisted on buying him more and more. Tony would always find an excuse to spoil the kid a little more, however much Pepper tried to stop him.
“Peter, please see me after class regarding an urgent matter.”
Brough out of his thoughts, Peter swiftly nodded his head.
He looked at the board to see the words from before still written on them, “Field Trip to Stark Industries!” It might as well have said, “Dig Peter Stark’s Grave!”
“So, let’s get started with today’s lesson, graphing imaginary numbers on the complex plane!” He’d done this one a while back with his father. Something about not only learning applicable science and engineering. Peter tapped his glass, and the episode of Arrow he’d been watching on the car ride over began playing. He’d be ever grateful for his father’s gift of EDITH to him. Pepper had tried to ban him from wearing them to school, but hastily gave up when Peter pulled the spiderman danger card.
“Alright, class dismissed. Please remember to do this homework pages 11-18 on this unit’s homework handout.”
Peter, forgetting his teacher's previous request, was very glad to be on his way home. He was one foot out of the door when the teacher called his name. Now, his day had gone pretty well up to that point. Bucky made pancakes for breakfast, which were delicious. There was wayyy less traffic on the way to school. He’d aced an essay and a couple of quizzes, and then he even participated in PE effectively. But alas, all good things had to come to an end.
“Mr. Parker? The discussion.”
“Right,” Peter thought, joining the teacher at his desk.
“Peter, you are truly a great kid. I know you’ve been through a lot recently and in your life, but it is no excuse to make up an internship. We both know that it is not real. Now, acknowledging that you have a bright future, the administration and I have come forward with an offer. If you agree to write an apology, expressing that you understand what you did was wrong and immoral, you will both be allowed to come on the trip and no punishment will be given to you. If you choose to not take this opportunity, you will be banned from the trip and will be chastised.
Peter just stood there, not really comprehending. Apparently Flash’s little rumors were a lot bigger than he anticipated.
“I-i-I’m not lying,” was all he could manage. He had filed all the right paperwork and proved his internship.
“I’m sorry to hear that you will not come forward with the truth. You have up until the day before the trip to hand in the letter if you change your mind. Goodbye Peter.”
Peter just let his legs take him out of the classroom, then out of the school, and then to the road, a couple blocks away, where his dad picks him up from.
“Hello mini-me.”
“Hey,” Peter said, jumping into the passenger seat.
“‘Hi Dad, thanks so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to pick me up each and every day. Sick new car by the way! I’d love to drive it sometime!”
Peter just rolled his eyes with a smile, “Car looks great dad. McLarren’s are superior yet.”
“Ungrateful, so so ungrateful. What’s got you in a mood then?”
“Nothin,” Peter said, pulling out his phone.
“Oh come on, tell me. Tell me or I’ll call Ted.”
“Ned, Dad. We’ve been friends for like three years.”
“Not the point.”
“Just something at school.”
“Wow how very descriptive. You know I’m trying to do the whole feelings thing here, and you should appreciate that coming from my emotionally stunted self.”
“You’re so dramatic. Basically we’re having a field trip to your tower, and I’m not allowed to go because the teacher doesn’t think I really have an “internship.” Which, to be fair I don’t but that’s on you and not me.”
“Nah na na. I offered you an internship, and you said I’d be bored.”
“It would be. Doing a project for your company under strict supervision of some person would be sucky. I mean I can do anything I want from the lab you built me.”
“I know, but remember technically you are my intern. Remember we did that whole personal intern bullshit for the school.”
“Oh right. Is that why you keep harassing me about submitting all my completed projects.”
“No, that’s all your mother. Something about not wanting a lawsuit over a fake internship.”
“Make sense. She tends to be a lot smarter than you.”
“Ah, I feel so attacked. The abuse I suffer.”
“You’re terrible.”
“I am internally crying, kid. Sobbing.”
“Shut up,” we laughed.
“Who’s home?”
“You saw Buck and Sam this morning. Nat and Steve came back from their mission this afternoon. Thor and Loki are back for dinner tonight.. Strange might be coming round, not sure though. Cliff and the family aren’t back for at least a couple weeks. Oh and Bruce is wholed up in his lab as usual.”
“Shit. Everyone staying till the end of the week.”
“Yeah, oh the field trip. You’re screwed. You should have not told me.”
“Ughhhhh!!!”
“I love your life Petey.”
Peter walked into the kitchen and saw Steve reading a newspaper.
“Uncle Steve! Your back!” he smiled, dropping his bag off near the sofa. Steve got up to give the smaller boy a hug.
“Yep. Mission completed.”
“Nice. Can you tell me about it?”
“Yeah, it was nothing too interesting. We just needed some more intel into a terrorist organization stationed in the US. Most of the mission was recon. The next steps are being taken in a couple weeks.”
“Good to know there’s an active terrorist organization out there,” Peter said lightly.
Steve just smiled, not quite understanding the modern humor.
“Where is everyone else?” he said, realizing the living room was not in it’s normal chaotic state that he’d come to love. The chaos was his favorite reminder that he had so many people. He liked having lots of people, even after all this time.
“Nat and Buck are training, they invited you to join if you want. Bruce is in his lab, and dont worry he slept and ate last night. Not sure about the rest.”
“Right, thanks. I think I’m going to go train.”
Before he knew it, it was Friday morning, and his school was coming to his home. He was going to try very hard to ignore them. To do so, he asked his mum to let him sit in on some meetings. He had an easy in to the R&D and mechanical side of the company via the other interns. He was actually planning on hanging out with some of the “other” interns later that day. They were always happy to let Pete in on their projects and let him give them a hand. But he was always interested in getting more detail about the business side of the company, and he liked to get a window into it. Pepper was always happy to show her son the ropes. I mean he was heir to the company after all, even if he didn’t know yet.
He asked his mum to only schedule meetings after 12 as he requested a sleep in. Pepper was always happy when Peter slept as he was a little too much like his father. So, he woke bright and early at 11:00 o’clock.
After a scroll through his phone and a quick shower, he was ready to pull on his far too expensive Brunellio’s custom suit. It was one of his favorites. His father had got it custom made when he was in Italy, and told him he simply could not resist getting one for the kid. Pepper just smiled.
He had a large breakfast (enhanced metabolism) and headed towards the 34th floor where his first meeting was located. He’d been shadowing his mum for almost a year now whenever it was convenient, so he had the rointine down. He was almost sure he could take over a few of her meetings.
“Hi honey,” Pepper said, giving the boy a quick kiss on the cheek on the way to her own chair beside him. Peter blushed before resuming his professional posture and facial expression.
“Good morning everyone, as you can see Peter will be joining us today. I want to talk about some of the services we provide for our employees and their feedback. I’m aware we have a large portion to talk about so Kendra please take it away on that front.”
The first meeting went smoothly as planned. It was a discussion on the progress of the internal services, aka the IT department. Peter hadn’t learned much about their IT department, so it was good to listen in to. Pre these meetings, he, of course, does research into the background stuff, so he’s not completely lost. Pepper’s assistant usually provides him with a packet of info about the Stark Industries side of things. He is also given a list of key words and concepts he might want to make sure he understands. The research is fun for him, it makes him feel all professional.
Usually he spoke during the meetings, asking a couple questions and suggesting some ideas, but for this one he just learned and took in. The next meeting, however, was very much so his field. He’d spoken a lot with advertising, becoming very interested in the data analysis behind it. He even took a stats class so he could keep up. In that one he asked questions Pepper was on the verge of asking twice. He also contributed to the analysis of data once. Pepper usually liked him to participate as it was good for him, but he always felt bad suggesting stuff to the senior adults. He usually spoke to his mum or dad about projects for the company, preferring that.
They hung back in the room of the second meeting.
“Good job in this one Pete. Took two questions right off my tongue.”
“Thanks ma,” he said, always appreciating some approval.
“That’s all I’ve got for you today, kid. Rest of the stuff is, ya know.”
“Course. Thanks for these two. It was good to learn about internal affairs a bit more. Have a gap of knowledge there.”
“Yeah. Was that the first time meeting our CIT?”
“I believe so.”
“Well, next time we have a broader IA meeting, I’ll pull you outta school,” Pepper suggested.
“Really? That’d be epic.”
“Course, hun. Jarvis, sort that out please.”
“Of course Mrs. Potts.”
“Thanks J,” Peter yelled.
“Anytime mini-boss. No need to disturb the entire floor.”
“Are AI supposed to be so snarky?”
“Dad programmed it, what else would it be?”
“Valid point.”
“Right, got to run. See you later.”
“Bye, love you mum!”
“Love you too, Pete.”
“Jarvis, could you send me the tour plan for the visiting tour today?”
“Absolutely, sir. They’re on your phone now.”
“Thanks J.”
Looking at the plans Peter smiled. He had successfully avoided them the entire day. It said they were supposed to head back to school at 2:30, and it was about to be three. Smile on his face, he trotted down to the lobby to grab a coffee before going to meet Loki at the arcade. Don’t judge them, it was their thing. Taking the private lift down, and then walking straight to the coffee stand and ordering.
“Mr. Parker!” he heard the angry voice of his teacher, “How dare you show up here aft-”
Shit. shit. Shit.
“Edith, call dad, and tell him it’s urgent in the lobby.”
“Of course Peter.”
“Peter, are you listening to me! You are going to face extreme consequences for this.”
“Your coffee,” the man said, not realizing it was Peter, level ten personal of the tower, that was being yelled at.
“Thanks.”
“How dare you get coffee! In this building! Security!”
Tony arrived spotting his son instantly.
“Kid this best be impor- I see.”
“Hey Mr. Stark,” Peter said weakly.
“Mr. Harrington is it? Please stop harassing my intern.”
“H-he, he is y-your intern?”
“Yes. My favorite. Please exit the building and never question him again. You will be hearing from me.”
Let’s just say, Monday was an interesting day. At least Flash backed off, he was definitely an intern at SI, and no one embarrassed him on the trip.

“Okay, let’s do that, partner,” said Annie.

hihihi! could i possibly request a peter parker x stark!reader where the reader and their dad arent close? possibly themed around the song motion sickness by phoebe bridgers? thank u in advance!
Motion Sickness
Tumblr media
Pairing: Peter Parker x Stark!Reader
Summary: The reader finally opens up to Peter about the relationship she had with her father and what his death meant to her. Inspired by Motion Sickness by Phoebe Bridgers
Warnings: Character death, Morgan being adorable, slight mentions of trauma (SLIGHT) and so much sadness
A/N: Thank you so much for requesting this, I absolutely love this song and can relate to it. Tony Stark was like a father figure to me so thanks for the tears while I wrote this lol. I hope you like it! I really enjoyed writing this! I should also try and write something that isn't so sad next.
Word Count: 2.1k
You hated him for what he did. You hated everyone for making him feel like it had to be him. You couldn’t understand why he did it. Why did he have to snap his fingers? Why did it have to be him?
“Hey kid, how are you feeling?” Happy sat next to you, it felt as if maybe he needed a hug more than you did. You gave Happy your best smile and shrugged, “I’m okay Happy, just needed some fresh air. It's so sad in there, it could use some music. He might have liked that.”
Happy chuckled, but he knew exactly what you were doing. You aren’t the first or only Stark he had to deal with. “Yeah, he might have liked that.” You and Happy sat in silence, comfortably. You were so used to faking a smile, even at your father's funeral, it felt natural. You were fine with that. After the attack in New York, Tony became distant from you. Always working on his suits, partying instead of going to your science fair. You couldn't blame him, but a part of you hated him for it. And now he's gone. He's gone and you're here with a new sister you only met a few days ago.
“Dad, please. I don't need to see a shrink. I'm fine, really.”
“It's a therapist and I think it'd be good for you.” Not many people knew this about Tony, but he would see his therapist twice a week. He hadn't realized how much you were affected by the attack on New York until Pepper pointed it out to him. Although you were only a kid when it happened, he knew the both of you would never be the same. And instead of going through it together, Tony dealt with it in his own way. Which meant you were alone to deal with it in your own way as well. You only went once, and Tony let it slide. Sometimes you thought that your dad would rather be back in that wormhole than be open with his own daughter. Whether that wormhole be the one in the sky or the one in his mind, I'll let you decide.
“What are you doing out here?” You and Peter were inseparable once your dad introduced you two. He couldn't hide his excitement every time you and Peter interacted. His daughter and his prodigy. In fact, he gave you the old ‘If you do anything to my daughter’ talk instead of giving it to Peter. He said you'd corrupt him and you did but that's a story for another time.
“Just thinking.” You couldn't stand to be out in the world anymore, not with all the constant reminders of him. It made you emotionally sick. It was easier to be numb than to feel.
“Is that why you've been ignoring my texts and calls?” If you were being honest with yourself, you'd say that yes you were avoiding Peter. For reasons, you didn't want to admit it out loud or to yourself. You loved Peter, he was sweet and silly. He was everything you weren't. He was even closer to your father than you ever were. You can see why your dad took a liking to him. He was nothing like a Stark.
You sat just outside your window on the fire escape. Peter was only wearing his Spidey mask. “What's with the mask?”
“Didn't want people seeing me swing around the city as Peter Parker.” Peter takes off his mask with ease while you look for any reason to run inside and avoid him a little longer. “So why are you avoiding me?” No more hiding.
You sigh and figure, you can't keep running from him. He doesn’t deserve that. “You're not the only one I'm avoiding Peter.”
Peter takes a seat next to you and waits. He doesn't say a word, just sits next to you and waits until you're ready.
“It's like everywhere I go, I see his face. A constant reminder of who he was to the world. And what he was to the world is so much different from what he was to me. A hero who made the ultimate sacrifice, a father who was never around. I don't know whether to be thankful or to hate him for it. He left before we could ever get close. And we blipped for five years, and I came back with a sister who knows him better than I do. She's always asking me how dad was like before her, but I don’t know Peter! And it's so frustrating! Not knowing who my father was and then coming back to find out that he read her bedtime stories and played hide and seek with her. When I won my science fair he was miles away at some party. I thought once maybe when I'm older we can finally both heal from what happened in New York and get to know each other. Then you came along, and I realized that I could never have what you two had with each other.” You hadn't realized the tears coming from Peter until you finally looked up at him. “Why are you crying? I'm supposed to be crying. Not you peter.”
Peter smiled softly at you and wiped away a few tears that were rolling down your cheeks. “You are y/n.” It was like a dam broke and you could no longer stop it. “I just really miss him, Peter.” You leaned into Peter and finally cried. “I miss him too.”
“I didn't know you and Mr. Stark weren't close. He always talked about you and how proud of you he was. It made me a little jealous, wishing I had a dad that was as great as him. He was a father figure to me, you know?.” Peter can recall many long nights where he and Tony only ever talked about you. He could also see how sad Tony was when he talked about you. Peter now just realized why that was. He missed you, except you were alive and well. Peter could only imagine how he felt for those five years you were gone.
“Really? Whenever we were together all he ever talked about was you. He said you were the only thing he never second-guessed. To be honest it made me a little jealous of you.” You and Peter chuckle at the idea of being jealous of each other.
“Peter, I’m horrible at this whole opening up stuff. But I don't want to leave this world someday and have the people I love second guess whether or not I loved them.” Peter nodded, understanding what you were trying to tell him. “I'll help you y/n, I always will. Just please don't drown me out or push me away. I need you too. I can't lose you too y/n.”
After you and Peter talked you decided that the following day you would go see Pepper and Morgan. You didn't even get a word out and Pepper was already hugging you and saying how much she missed you. And that she knew why you were there. So she let you go downstairs to Tony's lab. You looked around and really just imagined him running around finding some breakthrough for a project he was working on. Then you bumped into one of his tables and knocked a few things over.
“Shit.”
“Shit!.”
You turned around and found Morgan smiling at you from the stairs.
“Morgan! Only mommy can say that word, she claimed it.”
“What are you doing down here?”
“Knocking over some shit apparently.” You and Morgan giggle and head upstairs. You stay for dinner and Pepper tells you how much she and Morgan miss you.
You tell Pepper about how you've been feeling about Tony and his death. You tell her how angry you were that he felt like he had to do this. And how guilty you felt for not trying hard enough to open up to him. The image of your dad on his back while he slowly died made you sick. Emotionally sick. You explain to her what it felt like to turn into dust and to feel Tony hold on to you with all his strength, just to wake up in this battle and watch him snap his fingers. You were thankful you made it out and sorry that it all went down like it did.
She offered to stay with them for a while. Maybe you and Morgan can get to know each other a little more. You consider her offer, it scared you to be a part of their lives now. You don't understand why. But before you could give her an answer you two saw Happy driving up the driveway.
“Hey Kiddo, I talked to Peter earlier and he told me to come see you,” Peter told Happy about the conversation you two had. Peter didn't know if he could be much help and was worried about you. So he called Happy and asked if he could help, and Happy knew exactly what to do.
“How'd you know I'd be here?” You'd see Happy every once in a while. He'd come to your apartment to make sure you were alright. He was the only person you couldn't avoid, even if you tried. He's trained in working with Starks.
“Pepper called me and told me you were here. I got something to show you.” You and Happy walk to the living room and set down a device. “Your dad told me to show you this when I thought you were ready.” You looked at Happy confused, then a hologram of your dad appeared. Morgan came running to sit next to you and held your hand.
You panicked and couldn't even imagine what your dad wanted to say. Then it's like every good memory you had of him left your brain. And everything you wanted to say to him occupied your mind. Why must you try and save everyone? Why did you leave? Why couldn't you talk to me?
And now it's too late to change anything. And you can't ignore the things that remind you of him anymore, even if you try. You can't drown him out anymore.
“Y/n, I told Happy to give this to you when you needed it. So I guess now you need it.” Tony sits down on his hologram chair and looks directly at you as if he knew where you'd sit. “Before I had you, I was partying and sleeping with women I thought were interesting enough. I thought I had it all. All the money, all the fame. But I realized that I only did those things to drown out how lonely I was. Even the loudest parties seemed so quiet. Then when I met you, it was as if I were in the band. Everything came to life. I know after New York it was like I left. And I can't forgive myself for leaving you the way I did. I also don't expect you to forgive me. But know that I love you. I always will. I love you both 3000.”
You told Peter everything that happened a few days later. And how you agreed to stay with Pepper for a while and make sure Morgan never knows what it feels like to be drowned out.
“I miss him, Peter. I wish I could just tell him that. We weren't close but god, I miss him.” You wondered if maybe you were making the wrong choice, staying with pepper. Maybe not feeling at all would be easier.
“Please don't second guess your decision. This will be good for you I promise. I'll see you every day if you need me to. Just please don't shut us out again.”
“I just wonder if forgetting him is easier than all of this right now.”
“You aren't just shutting him out though, you're shutting us out, me. Please don't leave me.
It was then that you realized what your father must have felt like when he came back from that battle in new york. You were so angry at him shutting you out that you hadn't realized that you were starting to do the same thing to everyone else.
“Okay Peter, okay. I won't surrender to the sound.”

Chapter 1: La Familia
Summary: Reader gloats over winning a bet against her cousin, Tony Stark. Tony expresses concern over Reader’s mutations.
“You’re not allowed to bitch and moan, Stark! You lost fair and square.” An evil smile covered your face as you had FRIDAY reprogram the music for the day. “Not that I don’t like AC/DC, but now it’s time whole week of any other band I choose. Those were the terms!”
‘Living on the Edge’ by Aerosmith began to blast over the speakers. In the corner of the lab, Bruce had a smile creep across his mouth. Tony tried to glare at him, but his science bro was too busy going over some numbers on a piece of paper.
“But why this week? Why not next week, or your birthday week, or never? In fact, never would be just perfect.” Tony had a package of blueberries in his hands and was popping one in at the end of each sentence.
“Because I said so!” You stuck your tongue out at your cousin and stole a blueberry. “Listen, there’s a great way to avoid this in the future: stop placing bets with me.”
“I still think you cheated.” He whined, narrowing his eyes at you.
“How in the hell it is possible to cheat at growing a flower? Maybe you just have a black thumb?” You smirked in his direction.
He spared a glance at the other person in the lab and switched to speaking Dothraki. You had grown up speaking Russian to each other thanks to Tony’s nanny, but once you joined the team that killed any possibility of private conversations without leaving the room thanks to Nat and Bucky. So you turned to languages made for tv and movies. However, it was only a matter of time before Natasha learned them too.
“You know damn well how you cheated.” He whispered the accusation at you.
You responded in kind. “In case you forgot, dear cousin, you picked the damn event. AND the judge, your science bro. If you wanted to win so badly, you should have picked an event you have a PhD in.”
“Like that had anything to do with how you won. You’re supposed to stay hidden!”
“And I am! Like anyone would ever think a mutant would go work for the Avengers when the X-Men are literally in the same state. My background is so off the grid, not even Fury knew I existed until 3 years ago.” You grabbed Tony’s chin in one hand and squeezed, smiling at how his cheeks smooshed inwards. You then switched back to English. “It’s so cute how you worry!”
He pulled his face away. “Don’t patronize me! I’m like 15 years older than you.“
“Yes, Dad.” You stuck your tongue out at him and then went to work with Bruce.
“Man, I thought working with one Stark was bad enough.”
“I’m not a Stark.” You finished uploading your list of bands for the week to FRIDAY.
Tony rolled his eyes. “Bring down the drama, Jon Snow.”
“Well I’m not! Not technically anyway as I was the daughter of Howard’s sister.” You began to pull up your latest experiment on the screens in front of you. “And look who’s taking when it comes to drama, Tyrion.”
“Hey, Cap and I worked out our issues.”
“Yeah, after he realized how wrong he was and you agreed to help adjust the Accords. Though your issues started long before then.”
“Not my fault Dad loved Cap more than me.”
“I was referring to Ultron, but sure. We can go down that path.”
“Ultron was a great idea. The execution was just shit.”
“That’s an understatement, to say the least. Look, I really need to finish this experiment or we’ll never get anywhere on whether or not these plants can be changed to grow in the desert. In case you forgot, the more farm lands we create, the easier it will be to feed people all over the world.”
Tony looked over at you and this time spoke in elvish, “You could make that happen, if you really wanted to.”
“Not if I want to remain hidden. It’s hard enough trying to reverse global warming undetected.”
Tony shook his head and went to the other side of the lab. Bruce spoke up again, but in a quieter tone. “Not that it isn’t great to have you working here, but why are you here? You have a PhD in botany and human biology, not to mention you’re an actual medical doctor. You could be the head of the Mayo Clinic or a professor at Harvard or Yale.”
“Asks the man who has seven PhDs himself and is also living in this three-ring circus.”
“Not the same. The other guy makes it hard to be the lead of anywhere but maybe here.” He glanced over at you. “Be thankful you don’t know what that’s like.”
You closed your eyes for a moment. “We all have monsters in our closet, Bruce.”
“I think the word is skeletons.”
“Not in this facility.” You look over at your colleague. “Nothing about my past–or me–is that simple. But Tony has been the brother I never had. He needed me here and that’s all I need.”
“You act like you have your own inner monster waiting to bust out.”
“Maybe I do.” Bruce looked at you, startled. “Or maybe I have a flare for the dramatics like my cousin.”
He laughed at this and missed the sad look in your eyes. Turning back to the screens, you take a deep breath and stand up. "I think I’ll head out to the green house and check up on my plants.”
Bruce just nodded his head as you walked out the lab, but Tony frowned in your direction before going over to speak with Bruce.
The green house was peacefully quiet as always. Though maybe green house wasn’t the right term for the building you occupied on a nearly daily basis. The ceiling was angled and glass, but the walls were concrete to keep out prying eyes. You also had security cameras at every door with a monitor inside the building along with a facial recognition scanner. The whole building had been a gift from Tony when you joined the team.
You were supposed to mainly use it for your experiments, so you could have silence when necessary. But in reality the building was there so you could use your powers without fear of getting caught. Though, not every power could even be used inside the building. So there were times you tested fate by bringing rain early to the compound or even delaying snow by a week or two. It irritated Tony to no end, who only wanted you to be safe.
As if you summoned a demon, Tony walked through the door at that moment. Only you and he had full access to the greenhouse at all times. “What do you think you were doing in there?”
“You need to be more specific, Tony. I’ve done quite a few things inside the compound today.” You were currently bent over a cactus, probing the roots with your fingers so you could break down what cells were needed for the new plants.
“I’m talking about that comment you made to Bruce about having a monster in your closet! Are you crazy?”
“THAT’S what you’re all huffy about right now? That I made a joke to your science bro?” You looked up and cocked an eyebrow. “C’mon, you can’t possibly think he took me seriously.”
“He did enough to ask me about it!” Tony threw his hands up.
“Wait, what?” You straightened up at this and faced your cousin. “What do you mean he questioned you about it?”
“I mean I was talking to him after you left and he asked why you even bothered to work here. He said besides being the staff doctor, there wasn’t a point and as the doc here, you were over qualified.”
“What did you tell him?”
“Same as you, apparently. That you were here for me. He still thought it was really strange. He then mentioned how you feel everyone in the compound has monsters in their closet instead of skeletons.”
“Because we do. That’s not exactly a ground breaking revelation.”
“Bruce was under the impression you had a monster like him.”
“Well, I guess in a way I do,“ you mumbled, "Or rather, I am that monster 24/7.” You looked up from your cactus, turning your head in shame.
Tony came over and put his hand on your shoulder, giving you a light squeeze. “Look, kid. You’re not a monster. You’re just… too damn powerful for your own good.”
You gave him a crooked smile. “At least I’m not the strongest omega out there. Things could be worse: I could be a living beacon for the phoenix force.”
“You’re still pretty strong, Mother Nature. Controlling weather as well as Ororo does, controlling the elements without limits, super strength and speed, enhanced senses, flight… all you need is the ability to control animals and heal and you could be like a goddess.”
“Better calm down there, Stark, or I’ll end up with an ego as big as yours.” You sighed and dropped back into your chair. “I’m sick of hiding. Why do I have to do it? I mean, the X-Men have three omegas on their team. Why can’t yours have one?”
“You know why. SHIELD and Hydra would immediately start fighting over you.”
You tilted your head to one side. “And suddenly, what? I become a damsel in distress? A mutant that literally has no limit to her powers? Because two spy agencies would start a slap fight over me? You do realize how absurd that sounds, right?”
“I just want you to be safe.”
“You’re the only one who’s ever wanted that.”
“What about Mom?” Tony pulled up a stool next to you.
“Not as much. You were her baby. I was the mutant dropped off at her doorstep, that Howard immediately shipped off to Xavier once my powers manifested.”
“She cared, really. Just Dad made that hard for her to show. And the team cares for your safety, too. Like Steve….”
You groaned. “Don’t start with that again.”
“What?” He asked innocently. “I happen to think you two would be cute together.”
“Yeah, I got that the first fifty times you hinted at me to ask him out. Look, no offence to Cap, but I personally don’t see the appeal. Yeah, he’s good looking, but there’s zero chemistry there.”
“You just need to give it a chance!”
“He’s better off with Sharon, even if that whole dynamic is weird.”
“What dynamic? You mean the ‘dating the niece of his dead girlfriend’ dynamic?”
“Yeah, that one.”
“Then let’s fix that for him!”
“No, Tony. Besides, you and I both know if I date anyone who isn’t a mutant, I’ll have to keep hiding my dirty little secret.” You shook your head at him. “When I’m ready to date again, I’ll let you know. And I’m 100% sure the person won’t be from the team.”
"If you say so, cuz.” He gave you a one arm hug and left the building. You shook your head at him and went back to work.
