The Raft.
That’s where they sent you after they arrested you in Germany. The fucking Raft.
You haven’t even seen Wanda since you were handed your very unstylish new clothes and they made you change.
You got separated from her when they took you to your cell between Scott's and Sam's. You dread what they're going to do to her, but you're powerless to stop them.
You sit on the ground of your cell and don’t move from there, barely registering what happens around you until the sound of clapping snaps you out of your trance.
“The Futurist, gentlemen!” Clint shouts but you still don’t move, just listening to the scene. “The Futurist is here! He sees all! He knows what's best for you, whether you like it or not.”
“Give me a break, Barton.” You hear Tony say and almost show some emotion, but stop yourself. “I had no idea they'd put you here. Come on.”
You hear Clint spit and then say “Yeah, well, you knew they'd put us somewhere, Tony.”
“Yeah, but not some super-max floating ocean pokey. You know, this place is for maniacs. This is a place for…”
“Criminals?” Clint interrupts him. “Criminals, Tony. Think that's the word you're looking for. Right? That didn't used to mean me. Or Sam, or Y/N, or Wanda. But here we are.”
“Because you broke the law.” Tony says.
“Yeah.” Clint says back and starts chanting “La la la la la” while Tony talks, making you grin slightly.
“I didn't make you. You read it, you broke it.” Tony keeps talking. “Alright, you're all grown up, you got a wife and kids. I don't understand, why didn't you think about them before you chose the wrong side.” he says and your face falls again immediately, knowing Tony went too far.
“You gotta watch your back with this guy.” Clint says before slamming his hands on the bars angrily. “There's a chance he's gonna break it!”
“Hank Pym always said, you never can trust a Stark.” You hear Scott say from the cell on your right.
“Who are you?” Tony says, his voice closer to you than before, and you can hear Scott mumbling “Come on, man.”
Tony gets to your cell and sees you sitting on the ground, hugging your knees tight to your chest, your head resting back on the wall while you look straight ahead.
Tony is nothing short of shocked when he sees your face all beat up and bruised, your arm bandaged with blood seeping through it showing just how big and deep the cut is, all courtesy of Ayo.
“I never wanted to see you like this...” Tony says softly but you don’t even react to his words.
He’s standing in front of you but it’s like he’s not even there, like you’re looking right through him to something more interesting behind him.
Tony sighs and shakes his head before moving to Sam’s cell.
“How's Rhodes?” Sam asks right away.
“They're flying him to Columbia Medical tomorrow. So… fingers cross.” Tony answers and you close your eyes, grateful that he’s still alive at least. “What do you need? They feed you yet?”
“You're the good cop now?” Sam asks almost in disbelief.
“I'm just the guy who needs to know where Steve went.” Tony answers calmly.
“Well, you better go get a bad cop, because you're gonna have to go Mark Fuhrman on my ass to get information out of me.”
“Oh, I just knocked the 'A' out of their 'AV'.” Tony says, much too playfully for your taste. “We got about 30 seconds before they realize it's not their equipment.”
You furrow your eyebrows at his next sentence. “Just look. Because that is the fellow who was supposed to interrogate Barnes. Clearly, I made a mistake. Sam, I was wrong.”
Your eyes snap open at his apology and, even though you can’t see either of them, you know Sam’s feeling the same way as you, which is confirmed by his next sentence. “That's a first.”
“Cap is definitely off the reservation but he's about to need all the help he can get. We don't know each other very well. You don't have to-”
“Hey, it's alright.” Sam interrupts him, then you hear him sigh and after a little pause he says “Look, I'll tell you… but you have to go alone and as a friend.”
“Easy.” Tony says and Sam proceeds to tell him all about the Hydra base in Siberia and the other supersoldiers.
When Tony leaves, Sam once again tries to make sure you’re okay even if he hasn’t had luck at getting an answer out of you since you got here.
He knocks twice on the wall between you two then pauses and then knocks three more times fast before talking, a thing you two started doing since you both moved into the Avengers Compound so you would know it was the other knocking right away. “Are you okay?”
You don’t answer him and can hear him sighing before continuing talking.
“Look, I’m sorry you got caught up in this and-”
“I don’t regret the choice I made, Sam.” You interrupt him before he can finish his sentence, speaking up for the first time since you got arrested at the airport. “As much as this sucks, it was the right thing to do. I know it was.”
You don’t say anything else. Sam can tell you mean it and he knows better than to push you.
“They’ll be okay.” He says after a moment of silence and then lets you be.
You know he means Steve, Bucky and Tony but you can’t help but think he’s trying to reassure you that Bucky’s gonna be fine.
And you can only hope that he’s right.
-
A couple of weeks after Tony’s visit there’s a commotion in the prison.
You haven’t so much as made a sound since that day, aside from your daily knock on the wall between you and Sam so he can make sure you’re okay, knowing you well enough to know you don’t want to talk but still wanting to check in.
But you can’t help but let out a loud gasp when you see Steve just standing in front of your cells.
You look around when the cell doors open and you hesitantly get up from the floor and walk towards Steve. He hugs Sam, then you, then Clint and then pats Scott on the back, but doesn’t linger long before he’s guiding you towards another level where Wanda is.
You get to her just as the door to her cell opens and you rush inside with Clint to take off her collar while he takes off her straightjacket. You hug her tightly and wrap your arm around her with Clint to help her move you since she looks a little worse for wear.
You manage to move through the prison without problems. You have to hand it to Steve, he’s a hell of a criminal.
When you get to the landing pad you see the Quinjet ready for take off and you all rush inside just to see Bucky at the commands and you smile brightly at the sight.
You have no time to comment, though, as Sam shouts “What are you waiting for?! Go!”
Bucky rolls his eyes but calmly says “We have one more coming.”
You frown. One more? You turn to Steve confusedly but before you can ask anything you can see blond hair darting into the Quinjet and then Natasha’s there.
Bucky instantly takes off and you all take seats and buckle up.
There’s a moment of silence while everyone processes what just happened, but you break it while looking at Natasha that’s sitting directly in front of you.
“Are we gonna talk about the hair?” You ask arching your eyebrow with a smirk.
She groans in annoyance and you can hear the others chuckling while she says “We are not.”
-
After a few hours you all get to a safehouse and Steve ushers you in before showing you around.
It’s not bad: a secluded cabin with three bedrooms, not too big but Steve assured you you wouldn’t be staying there long anyway. Which makes sense, you're on the run now so this is just temporary.
After the tour Bucky approaches you in the living room and only then you notice he’s missing his metal arm.
“You flew the jet with only one arm? That’s impressive…” You can’t help yourself as you reach to touch his left shoulder, your eyes fixated on it. But stop on your tracks when you feel his right hand carefully cupping your cheek.
Your eyes snap up to his and you can see him thoroughly inspecting the wounds in your face that are still healing a little. He grimaces when he looks down at your bandaged arm and whispers “I’m sorry…”
“It’s nothing I can’t handle, Sergeant.” You smile softly at him and put your hand over his still on your cheek, trying to reassure him that you’re fine.
“I bet you can, doll.” He chuckles.
You’re too busy staring at each other to notice everyone’s attention is on you until Steve clears his throat with an apologetic look on his face.
“We need to go, Buck.” He says and you look confusedly between the two men.
“I’m going back into cryo.” Bucky clarifies for you.
“Oh.” Is all you can say and your eyes widen for a second before you force yourself to put on a more neutral face.
“It’s okay.” He smiles at you, but you feel like he’s trying to convince himself as much as you. “It’s nothing I can’t handle, doll.”
You try your best to smile and not look too bummed out. “I bet you can, Sergeant.”
You hesitate for a moment before surprising him, the others and even yourself by giving him a hug. He hesitates too before delicately hugging you back and, after a moment, you pull away.
He smiles at you with a faint blush and you smile back, watching him walk to the door.
Steve passes you on his way to the door and kisses your forehead, whispering “He’ll be okay” before saying goodbye to the rest of the team, assuring you that he’ll be back soon. Then he also goes through the door and soon both the supersoldiers are gone.
You turn around with a sigh and see Sam, Natasha and Clint standing there, grinning at you, Wanda and Scott looking more compassionate than teasing.
You narrow your eyes at the first three and say sternly “Not. A. Word.” punctuating every word by pointing threateningly at each of them.
They raise their hands in mock surrender while snickering but thankfully don’t say anything and everyone just scatters around the safehouse.
You see the Quinjet depart from the window and try your best to look at the bright side: This isn’t forever, you’ll see him again.
Right?

Empty.
That’s how you felt. Empty and utterly exhausted. Your eyes were dried and throat scratchy from all the crying, body aching with pain and mind a foggy haze. Forty eight hours it had been since you received the news of the car crash.
James Rhodes. Your husband. Dead.
Pepper Potts. Your best friend. Dead.
You received a call from the hospital while you were wrapping James’ birthday present. A birthday that never arrived. Instead a funeral did. Two consecutive ones. You hadn’t felt grief like this ever.
The service ended, you shook hands and hugged countless people, nodding along as they offered condolences, wanting nothing more than to head home, crash in your bed and never wake up. But you couldn’t. There was another funeral you had to attend, your best friend Pepper’s, you didn’t know if you could go through it all again.
But you had to.
A couple of moments later, you managed to slip away and found yourself sitting on a bench overlooking the graves. The day was actually sunny and bright, wildflowers littered along the gravestones as a gentle breeze blew. What a day for a funeral, you thought sadly.
Not long after you sat, you smelled cigarette smoke in the air before Tony Stark took a seat next to you. Tony was one of your closest family friends, well, he was your husband’s best friend. They practically grew up together, went to school, university and eventually ended up buying houses close to each other too. By way of default, when Pepper and him got married, it brought the four of you closer. She was your best friend and James was his.
It was perfect.
Your mind went back to the last dinner the four of you had at your place, it was only three days ago. Just a day before the accident.
“Here’s to celebrating milestones in friendships!”
James raised his whiskey glass, making you, Tony and Pepper follow suit before you clinked them together with warm smiles. You had cooked a nice dinner to celebrate a year of moving into this home you shared with your loving husband. It may as well have been just an excuse to get together with your friends, which happened too often.
“Thank you for dinner, Y/N. It was delicious. And the blueberry pie too! It is Tony’s favorite.” Pepper announced, making you smile at her husband who returned it, albeit reluctantly. There was something about the way he looked at you, it made you nervous, not in a bad way, per se. It was like he could stare into soul.
“It’s Y/N’s favorite as well.” James chimed in, leaning in to kiss your cheek.
While you cleaned up in the kitchen, Pepper coaxed James to let her take the new SUV out for a spin. She had been trying to persuade Tony to get the same model but apparently he wasn’t too keen on letting his Audi R8 go.
“You think I could sneak in an extra piece of pie?” Tony’s voice took you by surprise as he entered the kitchen.
“Oh! I thought you went along with James and Pep?”
“I mean it was either a piece of pie or Pepper yapping my ear off about how my R8 isn’t exactly ‘fit to be a family car’.” he shrugged, making you chuckle as you took out the remaining pie from the fridge and cut him another slice.
You were suddenly aware of your heartbeat as Tony leaned over to grab the plate from you, the close proximity unfamiliarly welcoming. His fingers grazed over yours ever so lightly, leaving their presence to linger.
What was even going on?
Tony was a good-looking man, there wasn’t a question. He had a handsome face with an impeccably maintained beard that only seemed to suit him best. And his eyes. A light brew of your favorite coffee, the brown doe eyes held as much kindness as they held self assurance. Deep down, you felt an attraction towards the man. It was harmless, wasn’t it?
Only time would tell.
“Y/N?” Tony’s fingers snapped you back to reality, making you realize he had asked you a question.
“Yeah?”
“You went into one of your zones again, didn’t you?” He smiled, taking a bite of the pie and letting out a moan of delight.
“Sorry. One of my zones?”
“Yeah. Your mind tends to wander off when the conversation isn’t interesting for you. I’ve observed.” He wasn’t wrong. The fact that he noticed and pointed it out made your cheeks flush.
“Sorry about that. It’s nothing really. I was just thinking about the time we first got together. I—I mean the four of us.”
“Right. It was a long time ago, wasn’t it?”
“It was at one of your famous parties. I walked in looking to have a good time, you and I had one too many whiskies and the next thing I know Pepper dragged you back to your house and James ended up dropping me home. And the rest is history.”
“The rest is history.” Tony repeated with a small chuckle as memories of that evening played out in his head.
“Sometimes I wonder if…um. Nevermind.” He shrugged, cutting his sentence short leaving you to frown.
“If what? Go on.”
You saw him take in a deep breath, release it slowly before facing you fully after he kept the plate away.
“I wonder if the whole opposites attract thing truly worked out for us. Or we just settled because it was obvious.”
Tony’s words stuck with you long after that night was over. As did the look he gave you. It had longing and hints of regret. Something that reflected in your eyes as well.
You must’ve been crying again because Tony reached out to wipe tears that had escaped, offering you a cigarette which you accepted, filling your lungs with smoke and closing your eyes.
“You know, I spent half of yesterday just staring at my bottle of sleeping pills, wondering if it would hurt less if I just took them.” you murmured, staring into the distance. The void inside your chest seemed perpetual and only growing, there was no relief, no end to this pain.
Tony remained silent, he probably had the same thoughts running through his mind. But you couldn’t tell. He slid closer, placing his arm over the backrest of the bench.
“I need to speak to you about the accident, Y/N. I found out some things that you have the right to know too.” his brown eyes bore into yours, letting you know the urgency in his voice.
“Tell me now.” Shaking his head, Tony stubbed his cigarette and got up.
“Tomorrow. Come home and we’ll talk.”
“But it’s Pepper’s funeral–”
“I couldn’t care less. Trust me. Tomorrow.”
You were taken aback, watching him walk towards his car before driving off while you sat on the bench, a mess of complex emotions.
.
Your right foot was bouncing against the sofa as you waited for Tony, his house felt oddly quiet and dark now that Pepper was no longer around. Safe to say your own home wasn’t exactly in the best condition either. You couldn’t remember the last time you cleaned, or had a proper meal.
He returned with a familiar looking overnight bag, some papers and a phone. As he laid them out in front of you, a pit began forming in your stomach. This couldn’t be what you were thinking it could be. It couldn’t.
“This is what they recovered from the accident. The bag was in the trunk, the phone was found a few feet away and this.”
He handed you the papers first, it looked like a confirmation of a hotel booking, a hotel located just on the outskirts of the town. It was booked under James Rhodes. Why would he check into a hotel when he was supposed to be out of town for a conference?
“I don’t understand..” you trailed off, not really wanting to know the details but Tony handed you the phone next. What you read, broke your heart into a million pieces. The doubts that you tried to push down resurfaced and had materialized right in front of your eyes.
They were chats. Chats between Pepper and James. Your husband and Tony’s wife.
Your eyes burned but no tears came, you felt betrayed, hurt and angry like you hadn’t ever. It was months and months of private conversations between them, you hadn’t even noticed Pepper’s name saved with a heart emoji on James’s phone, right below was your last message to him, checking up on him to see if he reached safely.
You turned to look at Tony who sat with his arms crossed, jaw ticking and hands balled up against his sides. He let out a humorless chuckle, shaking his head before getting up to stand in front of the window that overlooked their huge backyard.
“Why didn’t–um, why didn’t the cops bring this to me?” you found your voice again but barely recognized it. It was hoarse from lack of use and weak, fearful of what you’d hear next.
“I asked them not to,” he replied quietly.
“Why?”
“Why? Seriously? You think you would’ve handled it well, Y/N? Given the things you said to me, I would be arranging for a third funeral right about now!” Tony didn’t mean to yell, but he did, because he shared your hurt and pain. He immediately regretted it watching you crumble on the floor, clutching the phone to your chest as you sobbed.
Dropping on his knees, he gathered you in his arms and let you cry, your tears soaked his shirt as you wept, body racking in pain while he held you. Your breath was still uneven but your tears eventually subsided, leaving behind a million questions.
“It had been going on for longer than a year, Y/N.” as if reading your mind, Tony mumbled, his voice muffled against your hair.
“I don’t want to believe it, Tony.”
He hugged you tighter, providing you the comfort you needed, wanted even, his presence grounded you, his scent calmed you.
“You’re staying here.” he declared once you separated, wiping tears from your cheeks and making you look up at him.
“I–I can’t.”
“Yes, you can. And you’re going to. You’re hurting, Y/N. We both are. I don’t think I could live with myself with you gone as well. I can’t.” Tony whispered, resting his forehead against yours, pleading you to stay.
He was right. You couldn’t bear the thought of returning to that house which you shared with James, your husband, also the man who had been cheating on you with your best friend for months. Given a choice, you would probably set it on fire to bury all the memories and destroy them. It wasn’t your happy home anymore.
“Will you stay?”
You nodded as he helped you back up, walking you up the stairs that led to the bedrooms.
“Wait, I can’t stay in the–”
“The guest bedroom is on your left. I’ve been sleeping there. I’ll take the other one. I can’t sleep in our bedroom either.” Tony’s lips were pressed in a thin line, fingers trembling before he hid them in his pockets.
Of course. It was hard for him too. You wondered if he had the same thoughts of burning the house down. You two were in the same boat, one that was drowning in a sea of sorrow, betrayal and tainted memories.
And now all you had was each other.
.
Moonlight streamed through the windows as you lay awake, staring at the ceiling for hours, sleep had evaded you. Checking the clock, it stated it was way past midnight, you turned to your side to attempt a small nap if your mind allowed; however a dull crash fell on your ears from downstairs, making you jump out of bed and scramble to the source.
It was Tony.
Eyes brimmed with tears, a half empty bottle of whiskey sitting atop the kitchen counter and shards of broken glass on the floor. As you stepped closer, you saw a broken picture frame as well, one that housed Tony and Pepper’s wedding day photo, both wide eyed and grinning ear to ear, now with a huge crack along the surface.
“Tony?” you treaded carefully, your voice barely over a whisper as you placed your hand on his shoulder.
His tense muscles relaxed under your touch, a sigh leaving his lips.
“She took a pregnancy test, Y/N.” he murmured so quietly you almost missed it. Your heart dropped to your stomach as you heard him. You knew Tony and Pep had been trying for a kid for a while now, Tony wanted a child more than anything.
“Oh my God.” You croaked, rubbing his back in attempts to comfort him as you saw his eyes brimming with unshed tears, your heart breaking for him.
“Now I can’t even know if it was mine. She was fucking pregnant!” He smashed the glass of whiskey on the opposite wall, the two of you watching the liquid stream down in little rivulets, joining the shattered glass.
Tony’s breaths were coming in erratic and shallow, his eyes unfocused, he was struggling to stand upright.
“Tony hey! Look at me, come on. Let’s get you over here.” You supported him until he was sitting on the barstool while you took a seat opposite him. Bringing your hands up to cup his face, you made him look into your eyes.
“Breathe for me, please. It’s okay.”
You sounded unsure but you hoped it was helping him, he was trying his level best to focus on your words but it was hard. He could feel his heartbeat in his ears, all other voices drowning as sweat lined on his forehead.
“Tony. Come on. I know you can do this. Focus. Just breathe.” You placed one of his hands on your chest, taking in a deep breath and releasing it slowly, waiting for him to follow.
It took a few beats but eventually you succeeded in getting him back to normal. He squeezed your hand gratefully, nodding his head to let you know he was alright. You grabbed him a water before pouring yourself a glass of whiskey, neither of you bothering to clean up the mess in the kitchen.
You sat together in silence, pondering over what your lives had become in a span of a week. The alcohol definitely helped, numbed your pain and made you drowsy.
The sun was starting to rise outside, a dull, gray light filtering through the windows letting you know it was dawn. The word exhausted seemed to be synonymous with your daily routine, it was all you ever felt. You took your empty glass and were heading for the sink when Tony grabbed your wrist and stopped you.
“Where are you going?” The uncertainty in his eyes tugged at your heartstrings.
“Just to keep this. Tony, I’m right here.” You reassured the man who followed you into the kitchen, as if to make sure you wouldn’t disappear all of a sudden.
“Will you leave me?” He whispered shakily.
This wasn’t a side of Tony you had ever seen. You were used to the confident, sassy man who joked around and made you laugh.
“I can’t deal with the pain alone. Stay. Please. You’re all I have, Y/N.”
There wasn’t a muscle in your body that protested, not that you wanted to anyways. Laying his head against your chest, he hugged you, holding onto you with all his might.
“Okay, I’ll stay. I’ll stay as long as you need.”
“You will?”
He felt you nod as your fingers carded through his hair, calming his nerves and reassuring him of your presence. He didn’t know how long it would take for you both to recover, but as long as you were with him and he with you, he felt some semblance of hope. That eventually everything could be okay.
“Of course. You’re all I have too.”

IRON SPIDER | Tony Stark Daughter! Reader (Part 2)
Previous part
Tumblr media
(Y/n) (L/n)
That's what I had to be called there. (Y/n) (L/n). Miss (L/n). I felt like a part of me was taken away.
"I can just stay home right? I don't have to go." I asked my Dad, the field trip slip in front of us both on the table.
"I don't see why not. If you don't wanna go, you don't wanna go. You've seen and have better equipment than anything there." Dad argued and I nodded, agreeing with him but Pepper shook her head.
"No, I think she should go! It's good to have some school enrichment and this is the whole reason we sent her to school! So she actually socialises with people her own age and has some normal experiences!" Pepper argued and Dad raised a finger.
"First of all- you sent her to school -I wanted her to stay home. Second, she has friends now! She goes to school, Monday-Friday, isn't that enough socialising?" Dad argued back and I stood up to put my plate into the sink.
"I'd argue that it's more than enough socialising." I said and Dad nodded.
"It says that it's part of your lessons!" Pepper added and I frowned.
"I didn't go on "the field trip" the first time round! I did this whole course about 2 years ago when I was still being homeschooled by JARVIS!" I told them both and Pepper gave me a look.
"You're going." She said and I frowned before raising a finger but my dad beat me to it.
"Hold on. You're not the one that has to forge the signature of Mr (L/n)!" One look from Pepper made him look away from both of us. "You're going."
"You're such a suck up!"
"You'll be one when I ground you for that."
"Does that mean I won't be able to go then?"
"(Y/n)..."
"Switched teams faster than-"
"Stop-  before you make me sound like my Dad. Just go tinker or something and don't forget to take this in the morning." He told me and I groaned.

Early May, 2015
"(Y/n)! You made it!" Liz exclaimed and I smiled, letting her hug me.
"Yeah, Stepmom changed my dad's mind." I told her and she smiled.
"Well, I'm glad! It means I don't have to go on this trip without my bestfriend! Im gonna need you to explain everything to me!" She exclaimed and I smiled.
"What did you pack for lunch?" Liz asked me as soon as we got on the bus. First of all- bus. I saw Happy's car sat outside the school gates ready to follow me for the whole of today.
"Er- my lunchbox broke ages ago so I'm just- I'm just gonna buy something when I'm there." I made up. You had to bring your own lunch?!
"Did you not know you had to bring your own lunch?" Liz joked and I smiled back.
"I didn't read the letter- I didn't even know it existed until I pulled it out from the bottom of my bag last night. I think it was about to start growing mould-" she cut me off with her laughing and playfully shoved me.
"If there's no food there you can always share mine if you want." She offered and I genuinely smiled.
"Thanks." I nodded and watched as she put her head phones on with me copying her soon after.
The song I was listening to almost had me in a trance when I almost jumped out of my skin because of JARVIS randomly in my ear.
"You're approaching the sciencenter 160, please remember that I'm still accessible and security measures are still in place. You are safe, Miss Stark." I sighed in relief and didn't reply but I looked out to see Happy's car following right to the side of the bus. I decided to look away from the window and to the inside of the bus to see a boy in my class called Peter staring at me. He went wide eyed and quickly looked away. I looked back to the window with the song still on full blast in my ears.
★・・・・・・★
"I hope you don't mind bugs! Because there's a lot of them here!" I shivered at the thought and noticed I wasn't the only one so uncomfortable in my own skin right now. I felt like something was crawling on me already.
"Feel free to have your own look!" I heard the tour guide tell us and immediately we were all splitting up around the room.
"(Y/n)! We're going to look at these tarantulas, wanna come?" Liz asked.
"As exciting as that sounds- I'm gonna pass. I'm just going to have my own look for a moment- I'll meet up with you guys at lunch!" I told them and walked off to the furthest table where Happy was wearing a face mask and sunglasses to disguise himself as regular security. No one was around so I felt more comfortable.
"I've never been a big fan of bugs- actually is there something crawling on me right now because I feel infested." I told him and he chuckled.
"You're fine. It's just some bugs and they're contained."
"Don't invalidate my fears. It makes me feel like you don't care about me." I told him and he sighed.
"I'm not having this argument again. I've had it with you father, I've had it with you, I'm not having it again. This is the 5th time now, (Y/n). I wouldn't still be working for you if I didn't care." He told me and I raised my hands up in surrender.
"Wouldn't kill you to show it once in a while, happs." I told him, staring at a centipede.
"You might want these." He told me and handed me a pair of glasses that I originally thought were prototypes. I looked at him in surprise and he lifted his sunglasses up to wink and and pointed them at him and nodded.
"You're good."
"I've known you since the first day your father held you. Don't test me when it comes to knowing you Starks." He told me and I nodded putting the glasses on.
"Jarvis?" ......
"Hello Miss."
"Yay!" I cheered quietly. "Okay, talk to me. Tell me what everything is. Occupy me so I don't get too bored." I told him.
"Of course." He replied and I smiled again.
"It's like being at home!" I said quietly to myself.

"If you go through this door, I believe you will find a more interesting exhibit." Jarvis told me and I walked in to see a bunch of old square TVs that were playing old insect documentaries and movies. Multiple facts about different bugs were being told me by multiple people and narrators.
"Even Howard Stark said spiders were-"
"Hey-" I jumped out my skin to turn around and see Peter.
"Oh my god- you scared the shit out of me. Hey." I told him and he looked at me like he'd realised he don't something horrible to me.
"Oh I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to-" He was a little scrawny kid that was only a bit taller than me who I raised a hand to in order to get him to stop talking.
"Don't worry about it..." I told him and looked back the screen with my grandfather on who was holding a tarantula. I cringed and Peter looked at the same screen as me.
"He was an amazing mind- I mean he died before I was born but.... I don't really like bugs that much." He rambled and stumbled through his words and I genuinely laughed, softly but it did get a laugh out of me.
"It's okay, Pete. I don't really like bugs either."
"Pete?"
"Oh... do you not like being called that?" I asked and he shook his head.
"No, I'm okay with being called it- I just- I- no one's really gave me that nickname before." He told me and I raised my eyebrows.
"Do you want me to just call you Peter?" I asked and he shook his head again.
"No! You can call me whatever you want- I mean I think this is the first time I've actually spoke to you- I just- Uhm- I just thought you'd call me penis Parker or something like that." He told me and I almost frowned.
"Who calls you Penis Parker?!" I almost laughed. Penis Parker! "Who made that one up then?" I shook my head and a genuine smile came into his face.
"Flash but it's been picked up quite quickly."
"I must be out the loop then- ow!" I hissed as I felt a prick and looked down to see a big-ish spider on my hand. My eyes widened and I gasped starting to freak out. "Oh my god!" I said quickly.
"Oh!" Peter quickly gasped looking at it,
"Get it off! Get it off!" I quickly pleased shaking my hand and Peter without thinking picked it up by the leg and then tried to shake it off to which I landed on the floor and I quickly stamped on it, repeatedly before kicking it under the table.
"I'm burning these shoes!" I said, disgustedly.
"What if that spider was important!" Peter quickly gasped out and I tilted my head.
"Well it's not anymore. We should probably go- that thing bit me!" I told him and he looked at my hand quickly, I missed how he hid his hand from me and his wide eyes somehow became wider.
"It's just a spider-" he began to ramble again and I chuckled walking past him and gesturing him to follow me out to which he did.
★・・・・・・★
"Oh shit..." I said looking at the canteen and noticing the cafeteria was shut. Peter looked at me concerned.
"What's wrong?" He asked and I sighed.
"Nothing I just realised I have no lunch now. It's fine, I'll just get something later." I told him and almost went to walk off.
"You can share mine if you want? I ordered the bigger one today by accident and I didn't want to tell them I was wrong so we can split it if you want." Peter told me and I smiled but shook my head.
"Don't worry Pete. I'll just pick something up when I get home." I told him and he smiled.
"If you want any, just ask." He told me. I noticed that we were some of the first few in the cafeteria so I sat down with him.
"Who are you waiting for?" I asked Peter as he brought his sandwich out his bag.
"Ned! Ned Leeds- he's kind of my best friend... only friend." Peter told me and I smiled.
"I get it. Liz is like my best friend. I didn't have many friends before I came here." I told him and he nodded.
"Where are you from?" He asked, sand which stuffed in his mouth and I smiled.
"Miami." I told him and he went wide eyed.
"Miami?!" He repeated and I smiled.
"Miami.... It was a big move but we were kind of going to and from anyway." I lied and he nodded.
"Where do you live now?- Not in a creepy way!" I chuckled a bit at his franticness.
"Manhattan... I have an apartment in one of the towers." I said and he nodded.
"Like the Avengers' Tower?!" He said shocked like he had just discovered something and I laughed.
"Yes because I'm obviously (Y/n) Stark." I told him and he smiled in amusement.
"Nice try... I live in Queens. I have an apartment too." He told me and I smiled, it went silent after that.
"Want a bite?" Peter asked and I looked at him quizzically before nodding.
"Okay..." He gestured to the other half and I tried a bite. It was surprisingly good. "Oh wow... that's actually better than I was expecting." I told him and he smiled. Cheeks full of food.
"Delamar's! Best sandwiches in Queens!" He said, enthusiastically and I chuckled.
"I can see that now." I told him and saw Liz and that walking in. "My friends have just come in- I'm gonna go join them but it's been nice to talk to you, Pete." I told him and went to walk away.
"Hey!- Do you want the rest of my sandwich?! I'm not that hungry- honestly!" He offered.
"Are you sure? I'll just get myself something on my way home." I told him and he nodded.
"Take it! I mean- if you want to of course!" He told me and I smiled.
"Thanks, Pete. I'll see you after the break." I said, taking the half I had bit into and walked away.
★・・・・・・★
"Hey princess, how was the- the science place?" Dad asked and I made a face.
"Full of bugs! A spider even bit me and I had no lunch because I didn't pack one and there was nowhere to buy anything from. I'm lucky someone offered me half of their sandwich they didn't want." I ranted straight away, dumping my bag and kicking my shoes off- not literally because I always kept them in this one place. "I didn't even wanna go in the first place." I told him and I didn't look at him but I could feel his guilty expression staring at me.
"I'm sorry, honey. I never would've signed if I knew it would've been so bad for you." Dad told me and I pulled open the fridge to get a drink and a snack because all I had ate from 7am-6pm was half a sandwich.
"Yeah well, Pepper told you to do it so you obviously folded." I snapped before storming off to my room.
"Oh come on, honey, don't do this to me. Y'know you come first- Hey! Don't slam your door! You know how this goes from me being calm to you getting grounded when that happens!" He told me and I groaned before shutting my door normally and then shoving it hard when it got to the latch. Not enough to slam but enough to get my way.
★・・・・・・★
Tony sighed and closed his eyes before tilting his head up. He hadn't moved from where he was on the couch but he knew he had to soon.
"Miss Stark is quite upset. I have asked her if she'd like me to call you in and she said no but my protocols override this request." Jarvis announced to Tony who didn't open his eyes.
"Is she crying?" He asked, simply.
"Yes."
Tony stood up and and made his way to his daughter's room. Opening the door to see her laying down on her bed and facing away from the door. Tony sat down on the end of the bed near her head as she stopped her crying and refused to look at him.
"You all good?" He asked her and she nodded.
"Yeah." She said in a small voice.
"Really? Because this doesn't look all good to me." He told her and she shook her head this time letting more tears flow out. Tony just moved her closer and in turn she placed her head on the side of his lap and his hands began to run through her hair.
"It's not been your day, huh? Been there. Except mine was to do with this expo in 1998-" Tony started and (Y/n) chuckled a little. "- I mean she everywhere! I didn't know what she was saying or showing me-" He continued and (Y/n) leaned up to actually look at him. "All good?" He asked and she nodded.
"All good." She repeated and he brought her in for a hug.
"What's really bothering you?" He asked and she leaned into him. Staying quiet for a moment. "I know you're not just upset because you didn't have any food." He told her and she stayed still.
"I- I don't know. I guess I just feel out of place. I'm too young to blend in with all of you at home and I'm not used to anything at school. Y'know how embarrassing it is to not understand that you have to wait in line at a shop for the register? I do. It's very!" She vented and Tony sighed before making her move to siting up so he could actually hug her.
"I don't know what to tell you. You don't experience anything a normal kid would and you never have. You've been walking red carpets since you learned to walk and been kept at home for all your life. Y'know I'm realising that I just said I don't know what to tell you and I just told you something- anyway I'm saying it's my fault. It's my error. I should've done more to stop this from happening. I probably should've sent you to school earlier as well. Looking back there's a lot I could've done." Tony rambled a little and (Y/n) tried drying the rest of her tears with her sleeve.
"I'm scared as well." She added and he frowned.
"Of what?"
"You getting called to go be IronMan and you not coming back. I have this fear when I go to school that it will happen." She told him and he held her a bit tighter.
"That's what you said after New York too. Then it got worse after Miami where you couldn't sleep or be in a different room to me. Honey, you had to go to school in order to help with that. Can't live with this separation anxiety forever because it will eat you up and I can't be here forever so you've got to learn how to live without me too." Tony told her and she shook her head.
"I don't want to." She stubbornly said and Tony chuckled.
"I didn't want to know how to live without my parents either." He admitted before looking at her and she looked at him confused. "Listen, kid. Heres what we're gonna do. You're not going to focus on that. We're gonna go downstairs- get in the car, get food, get ice cream and then we're gonna put Lilo and Stitch on and whoever can remember the most lines gets to choose the next movie night. Deal?" He asked and held his hand out for her to shake. She shook it and nodded.
"Deal."
"Good. No more tears. I'm serious!" He 'reprimanded' jokingly and she laughed following him out her room.

The Healer 3
Teen!ReaderxAvengers
Summary: Y/n helps heal the Rift caused by the Sokovia Accords.
Warnings: Injuries, medical stuff (no needles)
Notes:
Gn!reader
Word count: 726
Two weeks after you got to the Tower, after you had gotten a hold of the rhythm, you learned most people’s names, and you learned more about the Cap Vs. Tony rift. Today you were hanging out in the living room People Watching.
It was interesting to observe how people went about their daily life. Even though you knew the Avengers probably weren’t the most normal sample, it was still fascinating. Today you fixated on one guy. He walked with leg braces and seemed bitter towards Steve’s side of the team.
He sat with his back towards you, watching the news. From here you could see the problem was in his spine. The injury glowed gold, as all do. Focusing even more you could make out exactly what the problem was. You closed your eyes and focused on this sixth ‘injury’ sense you had.
Floating in your mind’s eye, you could see the problem in detail. It seemed like some blunt-force trauma had nearly completely crushed the spine, and thus the connections to the legs. It would take about three hours for you to completely fix. For him, it would never heal.
Further investigation led to the realization that he was probably in a lot of pain. Despite still having his legs attached, he was suffering from phantom limb pain. That, along with the stress of relying on his upper body was a life of pain.
“Y/n?” A voice asked. You opened your eyes. The man was still in his chair.
“Yeah?” You asked,
“Could you grab the remote?”
“Sure.” You hopped up and brought it to him. He switched the channel to some cop drama.
“Okay,” You said during a commercial break, “This is gonna sound a little weird, but please bear with me.”
He nodded, slightly unsure.
“So, has Stark explained my powers?”
“Not in great detail, why do you ask?”
“Uh…” You hesitated and then quickly replied. “Because I think I can heal you. Also what’s your name?” A moment of shocked silence.
“I thought… Huh. It’s James Rhodes. Are you sure? I’ve had this since over a year ago, it’s not the type of thing that heals. Doesn’t it just transfer to you?”
“I’ve healed way older stuff than that, it’ll be fine.” You bluffed.
“That would just shift being paralyzed to you.”
“Nope. I can fix almost anything. I once dragged a guy off of death’s doorstep.”
“When would you do it?”
“I was thinking we could head down to the Med Bay right now, unless you have other plans.” And so you two walked to the Med Bay. You wanted to be there so you could update Dr. Cho on his condition, and so that she’d be there in case you needed pain meds or something similar. Also, she’d never seen your powers in action before and was very interested.
She hooked both of you up to machines that monitored seemingly everything. Rhodes laid face down on a medical examination table, and you sat in a raised chair beside him. Slowly you set your hands on his lower back, and you both felt a warm sensation as the injury was lifted from one body and flowed into another.
“Describe the feeling.” Dr. Cho said, watching the screens, the charts, you and Rhodes all at the same time.
“It’s warm.” Rhodes said.
“Like a glow.” You added.
“It’s like a weight was lifted off my shoulders.”
"Keep talking." She prompted.
“I can’t feel anything waist-down.” You laughed, “This is up there for one of the weirdest sensations out there. It’s not even tingly like pins and needles. I can feel my spine already repairing itself. Only about two hours and fifty-eight minutes left!” You said cheerfully.
“It’s one of the most amazing things I’ve ever felt.” He paused, and clarified, “Feeling after not feeling for so long is weird.”
“Can you sit up, James?” Dr. Cho asked.
“I think so.” And sure enough, he sat up. Dr. Cho looked on in amazement.
“This is a truly wonderful gift, Y/n.” She said.
“Mhmm.” You hummed, in a considerable amount of pain.
During hour one you regained some feeling in your legs.
In hour two the pain faded.
Half an hour after that you could stand in place.
The third hour was devoted to re-learning how to walk.
Hour four was spent planning how to best surprise Tony.

Fate works in the most hilarious of ways, a stubbed toe over here and a broken heart still being nursed over there.
Tony Stark stands in front of your cell, staring at you through the glass. You don’t hold back your tears from him. Disappointment colours his features.
Broken pieces of trust lay scattered on the floor. The damage by him was done. Leaving you to bear the brunt. Leaving you to walk on the jagged edges of the broken family.
A family that shared jokes, laughed, drank and protected each other.
Won together.
Lost together.
In the past few days died together.
“How are you holding up?” His arc reactor gleams as he takes a seat on the stool. Unzipping the jacket he wears his arm in a sling. You close your eyes, more tears fall at the memory of the fight. An involuntary shiver as the chiling bite of the cold manifests itself from your memory.
The cell isn’t uncomfortable. There is a cot in the corner, the bathroom has a door. The sterile scent of the cleaning agent stopped giving you a headache hours ago.
“Why are you asking me?” You look at him, he should be mad, he should yell, call you a traitor.
“Contrary to what you all think and did to me, I trust you.” He shrugs, left eye twitching, he rolls his shoulder.
“How is the arm?” Your gaze falls to it.
“Seen better days. You know, heart troubles.” He looks at Wanda’s cell, “Kid, Vis is asking about you.”
She looks up at him, “Is Rhodes alright?”
Tony presses his lips into a thin line, shaking his head.
Wanda looks down at her hands.
“He tore us apart. That Baron Zemo. I know you have a lot to learn, alot to grieve. The accords may be dissolved. I’m working on it. At SI we’re  preparing the bail documents.” He informs you all.
Sam scoffs, “What about Cap and Barnes?”
“James is in recovery as per my last conversation with T’Challa. Where Cap and Nat are I do not know nor does he.” Tony gazes back at you.
“I trusted him.” Is all you can say to him. You stare at your palms, you couldn’t get the blood off.
“I know, I did too.”
“Tony.” Your lips quiver another sob at the heartbreak Steve left you with to deal. All alone.
Tumblr media
Bucky fights Tony, you don’t want to see your best friend hurt. The man who took you under his wing when you joined in, your steps halted by the blonde haired man who harbours your heart.
“Sign the accords.” Steve orders, you gape at him.
“Steve, do you fucking realise? We’re here because I didn’t sign them because I am siding with you?” You almost yell. The tempreture drops as the snow cascades into the facility from the now broken windows.
Bucky lands on the floor, a pained groan, his arm blasted off. He kneels, eyes widened at the implication. At the man he hurt irreparablely being the one to take away one of the curses HYDRA bestowed upon him.
“Shit!” Your eyes move to Tony, slowly he rises from the floor. The suit broken in several places.
“Y/N, you need to listen. You cannot go rogue with me.”
“Steve,” You push his arm away you had to intervene.
“It was good while it lasted.” He says and everything turns to static.
“Wh-what?”
“Look, I, we had a good run but I know your stance on the accords you’re just with me for the sole reason we’re together.” Steve says to you.
“Are you serious right now?” Anger courses through you, your grip on your pistol tightens.
“It's not even the accords. I, I didn’t think we would make it beyond this month. Look, I have to think about Bucky. Its all of this, it doesn’t, priorities.” He lunges over to defend Bucky leaving you defenceless. Your ears ringing, you watch as they fight, you can’t hear any of the clangs the groans.
You stand there dumbfounded.
As Steve throws Tony down the beam reflects off of his shield and hits you on the shoulder you’re thrown against the wall. Bucky meets your eyes, at least he seems apologetic.
Tony tries to get up to help you, “Rogers, she’s hurt—,” The shield slams against the arc reactor.
“I don’t care.” He says so easily.
You pant as the pain increases, both the burn and sting of his words as well as the physical injuries manifesting across you.
Steve helps Bucky up, you try to push yourself to your knees, crawling to Tony while keeping your arm close to your body.
Bucky looks back at you, his eyes convey his remorse. Tony breathes hard, you blink back tears at the glance Steve doesn’t spare towards you.
Tumblr media
Eight months down the drain.
The morning kisses, cuddles, the random sketches of you he left as gifts all lose their importance. Remembrance only causes pain.
“Mr. Stark, you need to leave.”
Tony sighs, “I’ll visit, or I’ll have you guys out before that. Work some arrangement.”
“I’m so sorry, Tony.” You look at his arm and back at his face.
He gives you one of those sad smiles of his, the one where he pretends it's just another day, another common thing.
“Aren’t you foolish to trust us again?” Sam questions him as Tony passes by his cell.
“I just have to do my job. It’s the people who have to trust us.” Tony turns to face Sam.
“So the people trust the missile maker millionaire Stark?” Sam knows the jab is stinging, Tony hated
that about the company’s past.
The rift was ever present, your friend looks towards you.
“Y/N, let him know not to insult me, I’m a billionaire.” He grabs his glasses and moves away.
You resist the urge to laugh, everyone would resort to their coping mechanisms. You’d have to bide your time here. Usually getting black out drunk was how you solved your own problems.
Tumblr media
True to his word Tony has you all released on various conditions. You, Scott and Wanda are released together.
When you reach the tower it isn’t surprising that there was a break in, you’d scoff that Steve didn’t come to break you out but he made his decision in Siberia.
The faint scent of his cologne lingers in your room. Hints of Patchouli and Bergamot. You stare at the box on your bed.
Opening it reveals a burner phone.
“I got a burner too, one number loaded upon it.” Tony stands at the door holding a glass of scotch for himself and your favourite Vodka in a bottle.
“Surprised he bothered.” You open the phone and it chimes an unread text upon it.
“I didn’t get that.” He observes, you take the bottle from him.
Opening the text.
SGR: I want to talk to you. Please let me explain.
You laugh bitterly, unscrewing the cap and taking a long sip. At least you can blame these tears on the alcohol.
“Are you going to? Call him I mean.” Tony settles on your desk chair.
“Nope.” You set your bottle down after three more sips, grabbing the edges of the opened flip phone you press. The phone snaps from its hinges and you place it back down in the box, “Did you track it?”
“Fake return address.” He twirls the ice in his drink.
The two of you bask in the silence. Drinking in tandem and out of sync.
“Were you going to sign the Accords?” You ask after a while staring at the setting sun.
“Nope,” He reaches for your bottle, pouring himself a peg, “I was having them redrafted. Steve only had to agree for them to shut up. My draft would have gotten approved.”
“So confident.” You raise your brows.
“Comes with the job title.” He rolls his eyes.
“Do you think anyone will trust anyone?” You tap the bottle neck.
Tumblr media
Steve’s laughter reverberates against your chest. He reaches up to cup your face.
“Why is it so amusing?” You ask, not meeting his eyes.
“Because it is, Poppet. I wouldn’t break your heart.” He assures yet again.
You gnaw at your bottom lip trust was difficult to come by for you.
“You want to know why?” He whispers, making you meet his gaze. His nose brushing against your own.
“Because I have your heart and it's what is keeping me alive.”
You lean closer, pressing your lips to his, Steve kisses you back. Hands pulling you closer. You feel his smile between the kisses and you begin to retract knowing what he was upto but it’s too late.
Steve tickles your sides and laughter blubbers from your chest. He grins, cheeks flushed as you press against him. The thin sheet hides nothing from the way you feel.
“I love you.” He says, you stroke his cheek with your thumb.
Tumblr media
“I loved him with everything in me.” You blubber out, tears falling down.
Tony sits next to you, your head rests on his good shoulder, “I know you did. It's a hard road ahead, kid. Not an undoable one.”
“I hate him.” You declare, “I hate him, he just, how could he be so selfish?”
“Sometimes we all are, he is in the wrong. He didn’t exactly reciprocate the trust.” Tony sighs, you look up at him.
“I’m sorry about your parents.” You watch him give you those sad smiles, he flexes and extends the fingers of his left hand.
“He could have told me, I trusted him enough that he could.” He whispers then shakes his head.
“Steve Rogers is an asshole.” You declare raising your bottle to his assholery. Then you giggle.
“You just thought of the word assholery didn’t you?” Tony giggles as well.
Both of you burst out laughing.
“Hey Tone?” You ask mid laughter.
“Yeah?”
“Thank you for being here, also can I get a box?”
“Sure.” He stands, FRIDAY has the box led by one of his tinkered bots to the room.
“I need to check on Rhodey.” He says, “I’m a call away okay?”
You nod, he leaves. The box stays on your bed and then you stare at the sketches hung around your room. With a delicateness that Steve didn’t spare towards you, you pack up the papers. Sealing the box with plastic wrap and head down to the safety deposit lockers.
Your steps are misjudged and you drop your box of trinkets several times. The stupid ceramic mug from that couples pottery class probably shattered.
You giggle thinking how it resembles your heart.
Locking the box leaves you in silence. Your room is void of all things Steve except the one shirt he gave you on your first mission together where the two of you fell into the muddled waters that left the two of you in need to change out of clothes.
The shirt smells like him, you curl up with it on your pillow.
“This is the last time you gave your heart away.” You tell yourself.
“This is the last time you cry over him.” You promise yourself.
Tumblr media
Eight months pass and you all sit in the conference room. The accords are abolished. They reinstate Natasha, Sharon, James, Sam and him. Tony holds his flip phone. Resorting to texting rather than speaking to him.
A reply comes when you all are back at the tower. They’d be there tomorrow. Rooms are prepared with favourite foods stocked up. You had requested your room be shifted away to another level.
Heart ache didn’t manifest beyond those few nights.
Your walls that Steve Rogers broke down were built back stronger. Impenetrable. His shirt was placed in his room by you a month into getting over him.
You don’t pass by the floor, you’re a level above. Thankfully the elevators divide the levels they service and you won’t ever be on the same floor as him.
The night is restless despite your indifference to all of them. They were the family you chose and yet you were abandoned by them.
Dreams are but a loop of memories you have buried.
After your morning laps you head to Tony’s lab.
“They will be dropping in at SHIELD first. Fury wants to discuss some things and then they come back here.” He stifles a yawn.
“You need caffeine my friend.” You hold up the coffees, “Luckily I come bearing gifts.”
“I love you.” He whispers gingerly while taking the cup.
“Are you talking to the coffee or me?” You ask, taking a sip of your own.
“I can love both.” He defends, whispering to the coffee he loves it more.
You throw one of his discarded paper balls on him. It doesn’t phase him.
“Are you sure you want to come along?” He asks for the umpteenth time on the drive to SHIELD.
“Tony, I will leave you behind if you ask me again.” You glare at him.
“I think you will be fine.” Vision assures a gentle smile on his face and he laces his fingers with Wanda. She smiles at him, her own mind filled with thoughts.
“See we’ll be okay.” You declare.
Minutes later you’re seated on one side of the conference room. Tony on the first seat, you on the second. Vision opts to stand behind Wanda as she sits.
Fury sits at the head of the table. The door opens and Natasha, Sam and Steve step into the room. A thick silence settles over. You look at each of them and then back at Fury.
Natasha’s hair is shorter and blond, Sam seems to have gotten leaner. Steve was sporting a beard and longer hair.
You wondered if the post break up look was something you should have gone for, maybe dyed your hair blue.
“Well, as you know you all have been reinstated. The Avengers operate without any Accords binding them but they must be mindful of their poweress and the possible damage they may cause. A country has full discretion to forbid the Avengers from subduing threats that may lead them there and you must honour that no matter the cost.” Fury gazes at you all.
“What if they need help?” Steve questions, you scoff.
Cold blues flash to you. You roll your eyes.
“The dissolution of the Accords was done keeping this one rule in mind. I suggest you make peace with it. You will not be able to save everyone from damage and hurt, it is better than causing it.” Tony adds.
Steve’s jaw tightens. He nods.
“Now since this is done and dusted. Official missions may resume.” Fury places down a manila folder.
“Official?” Sam questions, raising a brow.
“Agent Y/L/N here was liasoning with us for recon purposes. Kept under wraps. We have identified HYRA bases. Once the plans are sanctioned you all will be back on duty.” Nick sighs, “I suggest you all train together to get a sense of your skill sets and moves again.”
No one nods.
Nick shakes his head leaving the room.
“Your old rooms have been cleaned at the tower. Access is via FRIDAY, food is stocked. Layout’s almost the same. Few changes here and there. Oh and there are new succulents in the living room.” Tony fiddles with the folder.
“We can conduct a meeting about these missions tonight or tomorrow. You all settle in, there is a car outside and your vehicles are in pristine condition at the garage.” He informs them further.
“No welcome back party?” Nat muses, you laugh.
“I drank all the liquor so unfortunately no parties.” You deadpan.
Nat and Sam stare at you.
“It has been a difficult few months. I understand everyone will take time to return to a semblance of previous normalcy.” Vision’s words are both reassuring but also farfetched.
Wanda grasps his hand and gives it a squeeze.
Steve’s brows furrow in worry. He observes you trying to find any hints but you give him none. You learned to school yourself. An agent well versed in hiding her intent, emotions and aim. Your skillset is what brought you to the team and it is what you have. It's what you could trust.
Sam nods, “Well best we head back.”
“Yes we could use some sleep.” Natasha says, you flash her a smile.
“Yep, well I have a few things to discuss with Fury.” You push away from the table first. Tony follows your lead.
“Should you not include us in the conversation?” Steve says in his authoritative baritone.
“Unfortunately, Captain, it isn’t an Avengers matter but a personal one. Which you aren’t entitled to know.” You spit back.
His mouth opens again to speak.
Tony beats him to it, “Where’s our Manchurian candidate?”
“Bucky’s in the UK for a bit, after Wakanda we were there for a while. He stayed back for personal reasons.” Steve explains and you slip out.
Tumblr media
Steve stares at your room door, knocking on it yet again. Two weeks since his return and you had avoided him in every capacity.
He had worked up the courage to knock on your door today. But there was no response as it was over the past fifteen minutes. He requests FRIDAY to check in and all the AI says is that you’re fine.
You had gotten back from a mission yesterday morning. You had to have been resting.
“Why won’t she open her door then?” He mutters, pressing his forehead to your door, “Poppet, I just want to speak to you. Please.”
“Captain.” Vision greets floating out of Wanda’s room.
“Vision.” He acknowledges.
“Why are you knocking on an empty room’s door?” Vision tilts his head.
Steve blinks at him, “This is Y/N’s room.” he states as if obvious.
“It isn’t, she switched rooms about three months ago.” Vision says
Before Steve can ask anything further, Wanda opens her door, “Vis.” She gestures with her hand for him to return.
“Wanda.” He walks to her this time.
“FRIDAY, where is Y/N’s new room?” Steve questions walking to the elevators.
“She’s on the twenty-fifth floor.” The AI responds, he switches to the other elevator.
“Captain, you will have to go to the ground floor to switch elevators.” FRIDAY informs him.
Steve sighs moving back in front of the original elevator. It stops at every single floor; he almost misses the elevator as you’re getting on, luckily a Stark Industries employee holds the door for him.
You bite the inside of your cheek. Looking away.
“I want to talk.” He says over the all too silent but crowded elevator.
Everyone looks at him except you. They follow his gaze to you.
“I don’t.” You answer while staring at the numbers.
“Poppet.” He says and you shoot him a glare before looking away again.
People trickle in and out.
Steve’s gaze is trained upon you. He nods politely at those greeting him but his gaze nerver strays from you.
You look into your phone pulling up a forgotten game loaded into the device. Anything. Any stupid thing to avoid him.
Finally it's just the two of you.
The automated air freshener hisses filling the space with the scent of lavender.
“Poppet I just want to explain—,” Steve steps closer, his hand outstretched.
“No. I don’t fucking want to hear a word.” You seethe, you move forward pressing the button to your floor if it makes you reach quicker.
“Poppet.” He grabs your hand, turning you towards him.
“Y/N. Use my damn name.” You spit out, finally meeting his eyes.
There is a tick in his jaw, he nods, “Y/N. Just five minutes. I know I don’t deserve it—,”
“You don’t deserve to even ask for a minute of my time. You never saw us work beyond that month correct? Well guess what? We don’t.” You push at his chest, he doesn’t budge.
“I lied. I said those things so you wouldn’t follow. I could not have you living rogue with me.” Steve admits, you stare at him.
“You lied?” You repeat.
“I didn’t want to break things off but that was the only way I could ensure you wouldn’t follow behind me. It was dangerous. Poppet—Y/N,” he corrects, “I told you your heart kept me alive, I love you—,”
Steve’s head snaps to the side, cheek turning red at the impact of your slap. You breathe hard, eyes tearing up.
“That was not for you to fucking decide, you do not get to come back here and make your sorry excuses for being a horrible human being. Betraying my trust. Leaving me and your friend injured. You picked Bucky over us. You picked Bucky over me and I understand I would pick him too if I were you. But I would not fucking lie or leave my girlfriend and best friend behind injured horribly. You’re welcome back to the compound Steve. Even back to your glorious Captain America title. However,”
The doors open to your floor, you step out.
“I don’t know how you say you’re alive because I took my fucking heart back from your undeserving self. I don’t care if you lied, I don’t care if it was all fun and games. I don't care about you. I don’t want to care about you. You are a teammate because I am forced to consider you one. I don’t need to listen to you to provide you closure or a second chance. You fucking liar!”
“Poppet,” Steve reaches for you again, you take off running to your door.
“FRIDAY, deny access. Override only with Tony.” You order, the locks on your doors bolt and Steve keeps knocking and pleading.
He sinks to his knees outside your door apologising over and over.
Tumblr media
Natasha is pinned to the floor by Wanda as the latter grins triumphantly. Natasha praises her and they break apart. You take Wanda’s place and Sam takes Natasha’s place.
Mixed training was now mandatory.
You had almost burned Nick Fury with your glare. Steve hadn’t shown up to any, in fact he hardly was in the same room as you.
Sam goes full offence, you block the blows. Defending yourself you had worked hard over the time away from official duties.
Minutes pass by, neither of you yields. Panting you stare at Sam waiting for an opening to take him down.
“Come on, that's all you got, little spy?” Sam teases, you laugh.
“You wish birdy.” You stick your tongue out childishly. Wanda and Nat laugh.
“Come on Wilson.” Nat prompts, “We’re bored here.”
“Alright,” Sam moves, pulling a fake. You catch it a moment too late, as he’s about to tackle you to the ground you turn. Tugging on his arm as Sam’s eyes widen.
The momentum thrown off both of you land on your sides, recovering swiftly he’s pinned to the ground by you.
You grin at him.
“How's that birdy?” You laugh at his irritation. Sam rolls his eyes.
“Y/N.”
Everyone’s heads snap to the door, Steve and Tony stand there.
You help Sam up. Sam keeps an arm around your shoulder. Steve’s eyes linger and his fists clench.
Sam takes his arm away.
You roll your eyes, they land on Tony as he bites his cheek, oh this can’t be good you deem.
“Wheels up in an hour for Rogers and you.” He delivers the news.
“Sam, Nat, Vis and Wanda are needed to take on a bigger base with Tony.” Steve looks at you, “Fury’s orders before you try to whine your way out if it.”
You glare at him, “Alright.”
An hour later you’re on the jet with Steve. He doesn’t talk. The last conversation between the two of you was enough.
“We won’t be splitting up.” Steve informs you. You nod, studying the layout.
You frown in recognition.
“I was here on recon. This is supposed to be a dead base.” You look up at him.
“Fury said they detected activity.” He looks back ahead.
“Hopefully it's just random people looking for shelter.” You look back at the plans.
Steve hums, observing you again. Wishing it would be like before where the two of you would be holding hands.
Tumblr media
Cobwebs litter the walls, plaster cracked. The scent of something decaying permeates through the space.
Walking into the HYDRA base is carefully crafted, Steve leads with his shield. You keep a double check on the back trail. Something was not sitting right with you.
The hallway diverges, you stand next to Steve, “Left side first then we can go right.” You whisper.
He nods, “Stay close, I don’t know why something feels wrong.”
You don’t verbalise your own feelings, following in his footsteps.
The hallway leads to an abandoned lab, the computers torn down and broken apart. Steve relaxes his defensive stance looking around the area.
You move carefully through the edge of the room, “Something should be of value here.”
“I don’t think there is anything.” Steve declares, “Let's clear the other pathway.”
You give another once over and then follow him back down the path.
Your boot catches on the uneven flooring, “Shit!” You whisper yell as you fall forward.
Steve turns, breaking your fall. You land against his chest and his arm encircles your waist. For a moment that echoes a broken promise of eternity he holds you close to him.
Steve sneaks a moment he lost over a stupid decision. He takes what crumbs he’s given by fate.
Your palm is against his chest, your head tucked against the crook of his neck.
Why can't you move away?
Why do you want more of him?
Why do you miss him?
He hurt you.
He lied.
He hurt you.
You break the eternity Steve was living as you pull away, silence stretches between the two of you as you head down the other hallway.
It's empty yet again, you shake your head at the waste of time. Steve steps closer to the vials on the shelf. The liquid in them gleams a certain way.
You hear a pneumatic hiss from your left. You turn quietly making your way to the wall.
Steve studies the shelf again. There was no dust on it. No pattern on it. These were fresh vials. Then his eyes widened, “Y/N don’t!”
You turn to face him when the hiss is louder and the slits of the vent open. A dust like substance pours over floating around you.
A coughing fit grips you, you place your hand against the wall to steady yourself the gun falls as you clutch your chest wheezing.
Steve pads over to you, trying to rub your back to ease the coughing fit. He asks FRIDAY to scan the micro dust to see if it is anything dangerous.
The coughing fit subsides over a few minutes, your breathing shallow. You look up at Steve blinking away the tears. He cups your cheek.
“Are you okay? Do you feel anything?” He questions, gaze running over every aspect of you. Glove clad large palms moving over your form. You nod, but then your stomach cramps.
“What is it?” Steve takes not of your discomfort.
“I, it's my stomach—,” Your words are cut off by a whimper as the cramp gains severity. You lean more against the wall as the cramp travels across.
Steve rummages through his mind to know what this substance could be, he had been to HYDRA bases before. He spoke to Bucky all about them, their experiments which he knew.
He watches as your skin flushes, you squirm in his grasp. He steps closer to support you.
“Poppet?” Steve makes you look up at him, your eyes have a dazed look almost glazed over. You feel his warmth through your tactical suit. His thigh between your legs and the ache the needy ache is all you know and you need to get rid of it.
“Please,” You plead to him gazing at his slightly blurred blue eyes, your hips moving out of their own accord against his thigh you moan as your core makes contact with him.
Steve pushes your hips away, “Poppet what—,”
“Steve, it hurts so badly. Please,” You cry out wiggling against his hold. His fingers dig into your hips to keep you in place.
Your palms cover his, you look up at him.
You lean up, he shifts back. You use the distraction to guide his palm to grind down on it. Your choked moan has his cock harden further. He can’t help but watch as you use him.
Logic hits him then when he feels just how wet you’ve gotten, before he can pull away there is a prick in the side of his neck. You begin to blur from his view.
“Poppet, something is wrong.”
You look up at him, why did his words sound garbled?
Why was he falling to his knees?
You look behind him, people standing and watching.
The need clouding your mind clears in the slightest, “Steve,” you kneel next to him.
“It’s okay,” he assures you, reaching for the shield.
The cramp hits you again harder; you cry out in pain, doubling over and sinking against the wall to curl up.
“FRIDAY, dis-distress signal.” Steve orders as his vision begins to blacken, he reaches for you with the last of his strength covering your curled up form with his body.
Tumblr media
Steve keeps his eyes closed.
Enhanced hearing picking up the dripping pipes from the left. To his right he hears your pained whimpers.
How long was he out?
Chains bind his arms above him, the uneven concrete digs into his knees and shins. He would search for the shield in the aftermath.
He counts four people by their rhythmic footfall. They were in the same facility. It couldn’t have been easy to move them.
Lolling his head to right he watches you through hooded eyes, chained like him kept on your knees but you’re struggling. Squirming on the ground trying to find respite and crying out of frustration.
“Sex pollen.” Bucky spoke, with a shake of his head in disgust.
“Sex pollen?” Steve repeated as if to confirm.
Bucky gives him a look, Steve’s eyebrows shot up higher.
“What does that do? Did they use it on you?” Steve questioned his best friend.
Bucky shook his head, “It basically sets the libido up to the maximum, forces the person in contact to orgasm but basically they need to have sex, self pleasure seldom works. The intensity is higher to combat the inevitable effect.”
A dark expression crossed Bucky’s features, he sighed sadly. Looking out at the view from his home in Wakanda. The house, though borrowed, was Bucky’s own.
Steve had placed a few sketches of Brooklyn around. The place he used to consider home now changed. Steve stares at the more recent sketch of his home city.
Two men out of time in a place decades ahead of the world outside.
“How long?” Steve clutches his charcoal tighter as he forms the curve of soft lips on the paper. A stray tendril of hair.
Bucky looks down at the half done sketch of your face. His heart aches for Steve and you.
“Two hours, it gets progressively maddening. At first one can try to speak or answer what is asked. After that it is variable how long it takes for the need to become the sole focus. If nothing is done in two hours then its too far gone and well...”
He had limited time, he could not gamble any further. Steve opens his eyes, tugging at the restraints to catch the attention of the captors.
You hear the rattling, you look up at Steve another pang through your core.
“Steve—,”
“Ah, Captain. Welcome to the land of the waking, you were out for just under an hour. Now who is this sweet little needy thing with you?” The man asks, stepping closer to you.
Steve growls, “Stay away from her.” he warns.
The man raises his hands in defence, “She’s a little needy Captain,” he walks back toward Steve away from you, “Why so possessive?”
Steve bites his tongue, “She’s mine.” he grits out.
“I see and why is she yours?”
He can’t tell them, they would exploit you but his will is crumbling swiftly and his mind is compelling him to speak, “I love her.”
“Hm, it seems she needs you, Captain.” The man grins, walking back to you. His palm touches your scalp as he pulls your hair back. You want to recoil but the touch is soothing some of the ache. You look at Steve, pleading.
“I could fill in.” He says suggestively.
You try to shuffle away but the grip on your hair tightens.
“Don’t you fucking dare touch her!” Steve bellows as his thumb approaches your lips, “What the fuck do you want?” He pulls against the restraints, almost snarling.
“I want to know where my Soldat is, tell me.” The man demands, leaving you. The words register as does the scent of cigarettes you recoil. You feel your mind working again, clearing the need to be fucked.
“Steve don’t,” you warn him, he couldn’t sell out Bucky whatever this was, it wasn't worth ruining his life again, “I’ll deal with this…” you bite back the pained whimper.
Steve stares at you, eyes wide and with an emotion you can’t place.
“Oh but you know what is wrong with her don’t you Captain?” The man demands and you look to Steve, “Tell her the truth that burns your veins, Captain.”
Steve wants to lie, wants to cushion you, “Truth serum?” He looks at the man who nods.
“Brilliant isn’t it? You’re compelled to tell me whether or not she chooses to be saved. You’re on a time limit.” The man taps his watch.
“It’s a sex pollen.” Steve informs you, you stare at him.
“That, that's why I need?” Your insides churn and your clit pulses as you watch Steve lick his dry lips before he continues to speak. The small insignificant action has your body wanting to be devoured.
“Yes, and if you don’t get release, it’s fatal.”
Silence stretches on the footfall of the three others has stopped, they watch the show play out. The consequences and the outcomes weighed.
“Fight it, don’t tell them. It's not worth it.” You whisper.
“Poppet you cannot say that. I am not risking your life!” Steve yells, pulling at the restraints again.
“You can’t have him at risk again!”
“I won’t let you die!”
“You already left me for the dead once! You chose him once. Just fucking do it again!” You seethe, your skin clammy and you just want this suit gone. The material irritates you.
Steve gapes at you, “I, I didn’t—,”
“Save it.”
“As much as I enjoy a lover’s quarrel. Where is Soldat?” The man interrupts.
“Gone.” Steve answers, “Poppet, please,”
“Don’t fucking tell them!” You demand, “Consider it my last wish! Fight the damn truth serum.”
“You are not dying.” Steve grits out.
“Where is he, where is Bucky Barnes?” The man lands a punch to Steve’s face. His hair falls forward, slowly Steve looks up at the man. Rage colouring all his features.
“I will let you help her. Just tell me where Bucky is, Captain.” The man promises. Steve considers, you begin to yell no at him.
“He’s in the United Kingdom.”
“Are you insane?!” You slump to the ground, “Do you have any fucking idea what have you done?”
The man walks over and slaps you, “Shut the fuck up! You want a cock so fucking bad you fucking bitch in heat, I’ll give you one!”
Steve snarls, wrapping the chain around his own palm and tugging hard until it breaks away from the wall. The man turns, gun cocked and ready, it's grabbed out of his hand by Steve. He looks at the man dead in his eyes before delivering the fatal shot.
You look up at Steve, as the man drops to the floor between the two of you.
Steve watches the other three scramble about, he quickly fires the shots, he keeps one person alive.
He grabs the other chain, yanking it with all his strength. It gives way.
“Where is the shield?” He walks over to the man on the ground, pleading in pain.
A shaking hand rises, pointing to the vault.
“Access code?” Steve picks him up and takes him to the keypad.
The man enters it crying when Steve presses on the open wound, “Don’t fucking pull any stunts.”
You watch as the doors part and the shield stays there as a momento.
You blink when everything goes out of focus. You blink again. Heat spreads over your body goosebumps raise across.
Your thighs clench and you squirm trying to get some friction to release the ache. Tugging at the restraints is maddening. They don’t relent when you try to manoeuvre but no position provides any respite and you sob out as the frustration grows.
“Poppet.” A warm voice calls out, you whimper. The hold on your right arm loosens and your hand reaches for the tactical suit. You had to get it off. You needed to get it off.
You blink and watch as Steve’s hand stops yours, you push at him.
“Please,” you whimper as another cramp takes over.
“You smell so sweet baby.” He groans, the sound urges you on, you guide his hand to where you need him.
His warm palm cups you the fabric of your suit soaked Steve hears your sigh of relief.
“Going to take care of you Poppet, but you need to hold on for me okay?” Steve assures, breaking out your left arm as well.
“Steve please,” you beg again, your mind screaming at your body, your hips move making you grind onto his palm. Your smaller palm wrapped around his wrist not letting him pull away.
“Fuck,” He groans, pushing you against the corner and undoing your suit’s zipper, you don’t face him palms braced against the wall. Steve’s warm calloused palm is as though cold respite to your heated skin.
He doesn’t waste time, fingers running over your folds, palm pressing against your clit. Your head tilts back resting against his shoulder, mouth parted moans leaving you.
Steve presses his fingers into you, two thick digits and your walls clench around him he almost wishes he’d fuck you right there.
“Fuck this pussy remembers who she belongs to doesn’t she?” Fingers curve finding the spot he very well could have placed. Stars line your vision as he hits the spot over and over, fingers curving.
“Right there Steve!” You cry out your ass rocking against him, pressing onto his cock. He keeps his thrusts hard and fast, palm rubbing your clit in the most delicious of ways. His grunts fill your senses.
Pleasure thrums from his touch to your body, your back arching as his fingers drive deeper and deeper into you. Your walls are gripping them back in not wanting him to stop.
“I know sweet Poppet. I know what makes her weep for me. I’m going to taste you. But first you’re going to make a mess on my hand alright?” He instructs filthy words offset by the sweet kisses placed against your forehead and cheek.
His other hand cups your breast playing with your nipple. Your hands fall from the wall, gripping onto his nails leaving indents on his skin. Steve watches your chest constrict, your voice choke off, eyes rolling back as your orgasm crashes into you.
His fingers keep moving, riding your orgasm out, your walls quivering around him the sensitivity of your clit as it pulses. Some of the haze clears but the need just returns tenfold.
“Steve, please, I can’t, can’t wait—,”
His lips are on yours, cutting you off, your suit pushed down further without breaking away from the kiss.
The shield clatters to the floor, his suit haphazardly discarded. Steve’s hands explore your body, remembering the planes he explored before. The love he whispered across your skin. Marking you with his touch, his lips, his seed.
“Wanna see you,” You want to turn, he grabs your hands pinning them to the wall.
“No one gets to see you this way but me.” He growls, you feel his hard cock move between your thighs. His larger body covers yours, shielding you, watching over you.
When your thighs clench around him,  Steve hisses, “Going to fill you up, sweet girl.” he coos.
Inch by inch Steve’s length stretches you, your back arches. The relief the stretch of his cock brings is unlike anything else you’ve felt before.
“You can take it, made for my cock aren't you?” He stills inside you, throbbing as your walls clench around him. He moans biting down on your shoulder the feel of you decadent, unable to be given justice by his mind.
“Heaven. Pussy feels so good, baby. Missed you so much.” He grunts, you push back against him needing him to move, “hands around my neck.” He orders, leaving your hands.
You wrap them around him, holding onto his now longer hair, soft between your fingers. Your mind remains you of the soft moments when he laid in your lap and your fingers combed through these locks.
Steve pulls you out of your thoughts with the snap of his hips. His palms gripping your waist anchoring you to him. Skin slapping against skin, his cock feels so good you could sob, the need turns into embers, your thirst being quenched.
Each delicious, deep stroke moves you towards sweet bliss. You hear your name in an echo of his name. Steve watches the wall you mould against him, as countless times before. Your heart may have put up walls but your body left no space.
The way he sees the telltale signs of your orgasm he brings his right hand towards your apex, timing his rough circles on your clit to his thrusts. The sensations blooming become too much, your body alit with flames of pleasure, Steve moans as your walls begin to milk him just as your orgasm shatters through you.
He keeps his thrusts going, pumping into you. The arousal that spills onto your thighs, the mix of you and him.
“One more.” He demands, fingers coated with the mix of the two of you, his marked fingers brought back to your clit, you cry out in ecstasy.
The blissful haze clears, everything returning to you. The mission, the power, you can’t, you can’t, Steve, Steve, Steve, Steve–,
“Right here my sweet poppet, you will give me one more. You know I'm greedy.” He reasons, only increasing his pace, you thrash in his hold. Lips find the sweet spot of your neck.
It’s your undoing, you cum around him yet again. Crying out his name, tugging on his hair. Aftershocks moving through you. He holds you up, pressing kisses to your forehead, temple, cheek, jaw and shoulders.
Grounding you, palms moving over you after he brings his coated fingers to taste them. Your head lols against his shoulder, you reach for his jaw, placing a soft kiss. Steve smiles at the familiar gesture.
Helping you get dressed he follows as well. You’re lifted into his arms and carried to the quinjet.
Tumblr media
As it had turned out Bucky wasn’t in UK it was a precautionary measure they came up with to secure Bucky from any life threatening attempts. The guilt you had harboured lessened.
Steve had stayed away from you, once Tony and Bruce cleared you of any remnant pollen he took his leave. Avoiding you as he had after the elevator confrontation. It left a bitter taste in your mouth.
As much as you felt as if you were an emotional fool for considering the thought of wanting to approach him, you missed him. Terribly.
You knew your walls were useless against the one man who you had given your jagged heart to, the blue eyes you had drowned yourself in multiple times. Whether it was when he found your gaze across the room or when you were pressed against him.
Your feet carried you after three days to his door. Your hand shook when you knocked. Thoughts swirling through your mind insecurities gaining fleet.
The door opens, Steve’s eyes widen then his brows furrowed with worry, then fall to the still fading love bite that  he placed on your collarbone. You shift your weight to either side. Hands fiddling with the hem of your top.
You look down at your feet, Steve’s palm cups your cheek.
Your eyes meet their old home of blue.
“I want to listen.” You manage to say, his pink lips stretch into a familiar smile.
He steps to the side inviting you further into his room.

Tumblr media
IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AS THE PRINCESS STOOD NEAR THE DOOR. She could hear the sound of her father shouting at his councilmen, his anger drowning out the fear that dwelled in the room.
"I REFUSE TO SURRENDER!" He shouted and as his councilmen stood silent one came forward.
"King Anthony as much as we refuse to accept it, whether we like it or not the Orcs have beaten us and our kingdom isn't safe." One of his men; James Rhodes said.
"If we lose then my wife, children, everyone is at stake for an attack." The King said and with a sigh sat down in one of the chairs.
"We could speak with their leaders, perhaps they'd be willing to compromise." Another man; Fury said.
"We'd be wasting our breath, what would they be wanting that they couldn't take from by invading?" Rhodes asked.
The princess could no longer listen and scurried away from the door as they hardening news weighed on her.
This war had been troubling ever since she was a child and to hear that everything was going to crumble. She remembered when her father had been in the war and now all these years had caused him to grey and her mother was just as tired.
Her little sister Morgana was only a child and if anything were to happen to her, she wouldn't know what to do.
"My lady, you mustn't be up this late." Her lady in waiting; Natasha said. "If you're found I'll be in heaps of trouble."
Natasha led the princess into her room and the princess turned to her as Natasha shut her doors.
"Natasha tell me about the Orcs?" She asked and Natasha turned so quickly her head could of gotten whiplash.
"Orcs are monstrous and strong creatures, strong as twenty men. I've even heard they've even taken maidens as wives." Natasha said. "But I-"
The princess drowned at Natasha's babbling as she thought of what Natasha said when she meant that Orcs took human women as brides. She chewed her lip in thought and her eyes widened.
"- never met an orc in person I-" Natasha was cut off by the princess.
"Can you help me get out of the palace?" She asked and Natasha looked confused.
"What do you mean? It's late enough as it is and-" The princess cut her off.
"Natasha it's important I need to speak to the leaders of the Orcs." She said urgently and touched Natasha's shoulders. "It could change everything."
"My lady if we're found-" Natasha was cut off again.
"I'll say it was my idea and that I ordered you, now come on." She said as she grabbed her cloak from her desk.
"What are we doing exactly?" Natasha asked her as she grabbed a cloak as well.
"To make a deal." The princess said and with that, Natasha grabbed a lantern and quickly lit it. Entering the hallway and leading the princess to what she think was her doom.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
THE PRINCESS TURNED HER HEAD AS SHE SAW THE CASTLE FROM A FAR DISTANCE. The sound of frogs and crickets rang throughout the forest and fireflies could be seen faintly lighting it.
Natasha stood in front of the princess, lantern shining bright and their hearts beating rapidly.
"This where we go to find them, my mother spoke of the forest being the home of all creatures." Natasha said and as they stepped forward each step made a loud crackling sound. "Stay behind me."
"I trust you." The princess said and as she followed Natasha and her went deeper into the forest.
"You still won't answer my question, what are you going to offer them?" Natasha asked. "I mean what's more valuable than ransacking a kingdom? They aren't know to taking gold and leaving peacefully."
"It's for me to discuss with them." She said stubbornly. "It's a private matter."
"I can't believe the war is over though, do you remember when it first started?" Natasha asked and the princess shook her head.
"It's started when I was so young, it's been going on for 10 years." She said. "Morgana was born during the fourth year of the war."
"It's always remember the bloodshed but yet never remembering what started it." Natasha said. "I remember hearing the bells and the sound of my father being taken to war."
"So many men were put in the war." The princess remembered. "I remember my father talking to the crowds of men when I watched from my window."
"All of this to be for nothing." Natasha said bitterly. "What a way for the Stark kingdom to fall."
"Not yet." The princess said and suddenly they stopped as Natasha saw the glowing of a light in the distance.
"I think that's their camp, we need to lay low or-" Natasha was cut off by a low grumble.
"Well what do we have here?" The two girls turned around quickly as they stood in front of an orc. The princess had never seen one in person and as she stared up at the large creature, she was terrified.
Their strong and large stature made her feel like a tiny bug that they could squash at any moment.
"It seems you two little girls are lost and all alone." The orc chuckled and as he was about to touch the princess, she firmly slapped his finger away and looked at him.
"I need to speak to your leaders, it's very urgent, I beg of you." She said and the orc laughed.
"And who must you be?" He laughed and looked at her smugly.
"I'm princess Y/N of the Stark kingdom." The orc stopped laughing and his face turned stern.
"Well then, come with me." He said and she nodded.
"T-thank you." Y/N said and the orc ignored her and Natasha looked at Y/N in shock.
"We need to-" Y/N turned to Natasha quickly.
"No, we can't leave now, Natasha I need you to understand everything I'm doing is for the kingdom." Y/N said and Natasha said nothing as they began to follow the orc.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"SIRS, THE PRINCESS IS HERE TO SEE YOU." The orc said amusingly.
When Y/N and Natasha had entered the orc camp, everyone had turned to see the princess and her handmaiden following to whom they heard their name was Bruce.
Y/N looked as if she would throw up and as she stood in front of the two leaders, she felt as if she couldn't move.
"The princess? Well what a lovely surprise." One of them said.
Y/N looked at the leaders and saw them bigger and more large than most of the orcs in the camp.
One of them had dark blonde hair and a beard that went across their large jaw and their tusks getting lost in the sea of dark blond curls, he wore a bear skin that draped across his large toned body, and robes that was under it, gazing at Y/N with questioning.
The other who spoke, was a bit shorter but not by much, he was more thick and more muscle and his long brunette curled contrasted with his green skin. However on the brunette's left arm was gone and all that was there was a metal one to replace it. He wore a wolf pelt instead and he had similar robes to the other man and looked more deadly than his companion.
"I came her to talk to you, privately." She said as turned to Bruce and Natasha.
"Leave us." The brunette said and Natasha looked at Y/N fearfully. "Don't worry your friend won't be harmed."
"Come along little minx, I don't bite." Bruce said and Natasha looked at him unconvincingly.
"I highly doubt that." She said and as the two of them left, only Y/N and the orc leaders remained.
"What is it you wish to speak to us about?" The blonde one asked.
"About the war, my father doesn't know I'm here and I-" Y/N was cut off by the brunette.
"If you think we'll surrender you're out of the question, this war has been nothing but pain for our people, pain your grandfather caused." The brunette growled.
"Bucky, calm down." The blonde said. "What about the war, I understand you know that we've won and there's nothing we can do to stop that."
Y/N looked at them both and fiddled with her thumbs and but her lip.
"I understand that, I was proposing- a- uh- an alliance." Y/N said and as she waited for their response all she got was laughter from them and her face turned red from embarrassment.
"If you'd ever think we'd be allies your surely mistaken we've-"
"I'm willing to become one of yours' bride, I'll give myself to one of you if it means that you'll spare our kingdom." Y/N said and then came forward and got on her knees and had her head down.
Both orcs looked down at the princess in shock, their eyes widened as the princess stood before them and they could see that she was serious.
"You don't understand what your giving." Bucky said and Y/N looked up to him and a tear fell down her cheek.
"I do, I would be the most devoted wife, if you don't wish to I understand but-" She was cut off by Bucky.
"Steve and I are to share a mate, we are very serious about our mates. Once we've made this deal you can never go back, this will be your fate." Bucky said and the blonde; Steve nodded.
"B-both of you?" Y/N asked as she looked at both of them and they smirked.
"We share, and we've always had the notion of sharing our mate." Steve said and put his finger under Y/N's chin. "You'll be our princess."
Y/N gulped and nodded.
"I'll be your princes but only if you spare the Stark kingdom." She said and the orc men nodded.
"It's a deal." Bucky said and Steve suddenly picked up Y/N and she screamed. Steve put his hand over her mouth and her screaming was muffled.
"We aren't going to hurt, we just wanted to pick up our bride." Steve said and she stopped screaming but the fear never left her eyes as she looked at Steve. "Notify the clan, we are leaving. But not before the princess sends a message to the king."
Bucky nodded and as he left the tent with a grunt, Steve placed Y/N down to were he was sitting and grabbed a piece of parchment and a feather with ink.
"Send your message, then we must be off." Steve said and Y/N looked up.
"Can't I at least say goodbye?" Y/N asked and Steve shook his head.
"Knowing your father he would never let you leave and this deal has been struck, if he dares to break our deal than your kingdom will be in ruins." Steve said and Y/N shut her eyes and tears fell from her eyes and onto her cheek.
Steve looked at the small human and felt a pain of guilt, he wiped the tear away with his giant hand. Y/N winced and Steve once again felt guilt.
"Maybe one day." Steve said and the emotion on his face then disappeared as he got up and exited the tent.
Y/N watched his retreating figure and once he was fully out of site, she looked down at the parchment in front of her and a tear fell onto the sheet.
She fully comprehended what she had just done, she didn't regret it but nevertheless still felt waves of sadness as she wrote down each word, saying goodbye to her family on the paper, and the last words she would ever say.
"I hope one day you understand." Y/N said to herself and as she signed her name down on the scroll, she wrapped it up and sealed it.
As she did, she didn't notice her soon to be husbands entering the tent. She felt one of their fingers on her shoulder and she jumped.
She turned to see them with their stoic faces and she looked away and held up the parchment.
"It is done." She said and Steve took it and nodded.
"Come princess, time to leave." Bucky said and with no warning picked her up again and she gasped.
She looked up to him as he held her.
"Get use to it, you humans are such small and fragile creatures, our mate is not to walk." He chuckled and Y/N tried to ignore the heat rushing to her cheeks.
"I-I'm very fine with walking S-Sir." She said nervously and Bucky snarled.
"I wasn't asking." He said gruffly and took her out of the tent. Y/N looked and saw all of the Orcs looking at Bucky and more directly her. She felt like shrinking away, Bucky could feel that as she squirmed in his arms and glared at everyone. His gaze made them turn away.
"LETS MOVE!" Steve shouted and all of the Orcs nodded to Steve.
Y/N began to feel drowsy in Bucky's arm, the way he swayed her in his arms lulled her closer and closer to sleep.
"Sleep princess, we have a long journey home." Bucky said but Y/N had so many questions, but he fight was sleep was stronger and as she tried to fight, her eyes closed and soon her light snores could be heard by Bucky.
"Well Buck, this seems like a better bounty than gold, huh?" Steve said and Bucky smirked.
"Once we get home, get the ceremony started as soon as possible." Bucky said and Steve agreed.
"The sooner the better." Steve said and soon they began of the ceremony, looking down at their princess every so often and excited for what was to come.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
It was days later and they clan had traveled back to their home. It was already spreading like wildfire that their leaders were marrying a human princess.
Everywhere Y/N looked Orcs would stare and whisper. It was hard for Y/N to be in a strange place and to have the Orcs whispers but it wouldn't last long when Steve and Bucky would glare and pick her up, showing the clan that she was theirs.
She knew how possessive they were, it wasn't hard to tell when every moment they held her and cradled her. Every time they did it was hard for her not to blush.
She knew that they were gentlemen and could see how gentle they were trying to be with her but she knew after the ceremony it would be more than holding.
She was scared, scared of what to expect, she has been told of bedding. She was a princess of marrying age, it was told she was suppose to marry a prince from the Odin Kingdom.
But this was different they weren't a man and she didn't know if she was going to see something darker after the ceremony.
Of course she was more nervous once they began to explain that the ceremony was to be happening as soon as possible.
She could tell how much it meant to them as they explained how their mothers would say it was important.
Y/N was standing in one of the tents and dressed in a simple white gown. Her hair was put up and flowers were placed in her hair.
She looked at the mirror as Natasha did her hair, Y/N tried not to cry but her fear was overwhelming. She is trying to understand the orc men but she feels like a sheep ready for slaughter.
"We should of never done this." Natasha told Y/N. "I never should of listened to you, it's my fault."
"I don't regret what I did." Y/N said and as tear up, she wiped away tears. "It's just I wish I could be braver."
"Just keep your chin up." Natasha said, and Y/N nodded. "You'll be fine."
"I heard your going to be mated as well from what James told me." Y/N said and Natasha nodded and huffed.
"That guard Bruce ." Natasha said and looked at Y/N with a sad smile. "It already happened, while we were traveling."'
"Natasha I'm so sorry." Y/N said but Natasha shook her head.
"No it's alright, I may of judge him, and their kind a bit too soon." Natasha said. "He is gentle really- it's just I always though Clint would be my husband- and I-"
"Still I should of never-" Y/N was cut off by Natasha.
"No id rather be here with you than you alone."'Natasha said and finished the last touches. "Besides maybe the leaders won't be too bad, they have a beautiful and fierce princess as their mate."
Natasha let Y/N see her full look and Y/N looked at herself and for a moment forgot about everything and smiled.
"You look beautiful." Natasha said and squeezed Y/N's shoulder. Y/N was brought back to reality and let out a shaky sigh.
"Lets go to my ceremony." Y/N said and Natasha turned Y/N around to look at her.
"Give them a chance, I did with Bruce, what's the worst that could happen?" She said to Y/N. "Bruce took a vow and it's important to them with this vow that I know and I promise you that it won't be bad."'
Y/N listened to Natasha's words with a nod and Natasha led her outside the tent and there stood Bruce.
He was outside waiting and he bent down and kissed Natasha's forehead. Y/N looked at Natasha and Bruce and what Y/N saw was true. He looked like he was being careful, gentle. Not at all when he first met the two.
She could see Natasha needed time but she could tell Bruce would never harm her.
"Steve and Bucky told me to take you to the river." Bruce said and Y/N nodded.
"Is everyone f-from the clan going to be there?" She asked and Bruce shook his head.
"No, our ceremonies are very sacred." Bruce said. "Just the elder and our leaders will be there."
Y/N nodded and Natasha held her hand and squeezed it.
"It'll be alright." Natasha said and Y/N let out a shaky breath.
"Time to move, the sun is setting." Bruce said and led them down the path.
The fireflies glowed in the orange and purple hues of the forest. Y/N held flowers in her hand and at each step she felt sick.
She followed behind Natasha and Bruce and had her head down.
She wished her mother could of been to the ceremony, especially her father. She remembered her father telling her she would be the prettiest bride and that he couldn't wait for the day that he could dance with her.
But that sadly would never happen, she missed her family with every fiber of her being but always reminded herself it was for her family.
The farther they walked Y/N could hear the sound of the water flowing in the river. She could see torches lit in the distance, and flower scattered across the floor.
"This is where we leave you." Bruce said and lifted Natasha into his arms and nipped at her neck, which she blushed. Y/N looked away and as the two left her alone, she could hear Bruce growl.
Y/N looked ahead and saw Steve and Bucky in the distance and in between them was what she assumed was the elder of the clans.
Y/N gulped and walked to them and there they stood with special pelts and flowers on their pelts. They were groomed and could tell they had freshened up for the ceremony.
"This must be your mate." The elder woman said. "I'm Okoye, one of the clan's elders."
"H-Hello." Y/N stuttered and the warm smile of the elder calmed her.
"It is okay my dear, no need to fear." She said and looked at the two men. "May we begin?"
"Yes, please." Steve said and looked down at Y/N and for the first time, Y/N had seen joy on Steve's face.
"Yes." Bucky said and Y/N could see the same expression on Bucky.
"We stand here today in nature, within the glory of this land to bind you three together." Okoye began. "We treat our other half with love but most importantly trust, you have your cloth?"
Steve nodded and pulled out a blue silk cloth and Bucky a red one and held it out to her. She grabbed it and looked at Y/N.
"Come my child." She said and Y/N put the flowers down and held out her arms. Okoye was gentle and wrapped the two silks around her arm and tied them.
She then tied the blue and red together and both men used a hand to grab each arm gently.
"This binding is permanent, this is a symbol of bondage and mating, do you understand?" Okoye said and the men smiled.
"We do." They both said and Okoye looked down at Y/N once more.
"Do you understand?" She asked and Y/N nodded shakily.
"I understand." She said and Okoye nodded and grabbed the silk and with astonishments the blue and red silk began to glow.
Okoye's hand were glowing and in an instant the silk disappeared and she let go and Y/N stood there in shock.
"It is done, I now pronounce you mates." She said and bowed. "You may kiss the bride."
Bucky instantly grabbed Y/N and kissed her and she was shocked. Overwhelmed by the feeling of electric sparks from the kiss, she melted into the kiss. Gripping onto Bucky's arm.
Then Steve turned her around and did the same thing and kissed her as well. Feeling the same thing and touching Steve's face. She pulled away and gasped Steve got on his knees and put his forehead on hers and Bucky came up behind her and breathed down her neck.
"You are now one." Okoye said. "May Mother Nature bless your union."
Okoye bowed to her clan leaders and left the three in the flower patch. She blushed as she felt their touches.
"You're ours now princess." Bucky said and kissed her shoulder.
"We have a place to show you." Steve said and picked her up, she squealed and felt her heart race.
"W-where are we going?" She asked and Bucky tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Somewhere special." He said and the men began to grab a few things as Y/N stayed in Steve's arms, her heart racing and face red. Bucky grabbed one of the torches that lit up their ceremony.
They began to walk across the river and far away from the small place of their union. She watched as the only thing lighting up the forest was Bucky's torch.
She could see the sun had finally set and night time had begun.
The firefly's light would spark every few minutes, she watched as Bucky stopped and Steve covered Y/N's eyes.
"What are you doing?" Y/N huffed and Steve squeezed her leg.
"Little minx, we have a surprise." Steve said. "We understand we've made you give up so much, and that you've lived different from us so this is a gift for you, a wedding present."
Steve released his hand and Y/N was let down and in front of her was a barely built cottage, stones and axes close near a tree. In front of the building cottage many lovely lantern lit, display of flowers, fruits, and a blanket of fur laid down on the ground.
"W-what is this?" She asked surprised, her eyes filling up with tears.
"This is going to be our home." Bucky said. "We ordered it as soon as we got back, we've only laid down foundation and such but this will be our home instead of the tents in the camp."
"R-really? And this?" She asked as placed her knees on the soft fur.
"We understand that your scared of- of bedding, especially two Orcs like us." Steve said and got down on the fur blanket. "We want this to be a good experience for our mate."
"We want to show you we want to be good mates." Bucky said and laid got on his knees and took her small hand into his larger one. "If you let us."
Y/N smiled for the first time in front of the two Orcs and threw her arms around them. They were surprised as she tried to hug them tight.
"I'm so thankful- I've never in my life been gifted something so special and thoughtful." She said and looked at the home. "It's beautiful."
"Lay down, let us make you feel good." Steve said and laid her down on the fur. She let out a shaky breath as the two Orcs looked down at her hungrily.
"I've been waiting for this." Bucky said and leaned down and and began to suck on her neck. She mewled and laughed, feeling aroused and ticklish.
As Bucky kissed her neck, he grabbed her dress and ripped it immediately. She gasped as she was no bare, her nude body dimly lit from the lantern.
Steve and Bucky looked down at her body in awe, looking down to what they believe was heaven.
She tried to use her hands to cover herself up but Steve grabbed her hands and put it above her head.
"Don't hide your body from us." Steve said and put his head on the other side of her neck and nipped. "Body sent from heaven."
"Wonder if she tastes like heaven." Bucky said grinning.
Her breath hitched and before she could protest, Bucky got down to her aching core and with his long and thick tongue, he licked her core.
She jumped at the feeling as his tongue glided through her folds. She moaned as he dragged his slowly and touching her clit every so often.
"How does she taste Buck?" Steve asked as he gripped Y/N's side with his large palm.
"Heaven." Bucky said and wiped his mouth for a second. "Glad no man has ever been in between these legs, this is better than any drink."
Bucky dove back down like a mad men, he licked little kitten licks and used his two fingers to spread her lips open.
She felt the cool air and she gasped, until Steve bent down and kissed her. He growled into the kiss once Y/N began to tug on his hair. Steve pulled away from the kiss and began to suck on her breasts.
His tusks grazing her skin and making her moan.
"Let's stretch her a bit." Bucky said and entered his tongue into her core. His tongue going in and out, Y/N screamed in pleasure from the intrusion.
The stretch burned at first but with Steve kissing and marking all over her body, the pain was unnoticeable.
"You've been hogging her Buck." Steve said and Y/N had an idea and she couldn't believe she was about to offer.
"Steve- I can- I mean can I suck you off then?" She asked and both men looked at her with bewilderment. Steve's only lasted moments until he growled and immediately pulled down his garment and there his cock was there in all its glory.
She was very intimated to say the least, his cock had to be at least 9 maybe 10 inches. It was long and veiny, the tip of it angry and leaking, waiting for it to be touched.
"It's okay, let's take it slow." Steve said and touched her cheek with his palm. "Get her on her stomach."
Bucky flipped her over and began to eat her out again, she moaned out and Steve loved the view that was in front of him.
He watched as his friend began to devour her, and the site of his bride, mouth open and drooling had him ready to burst.
Steve rubbed his cock a few times before letting her grab it. She looked up at him with doe innocent eyes.
"What should I do?" She asked and Steve chuckled, and took her hands and let her hold it firmly.
"You can lick it, suck it, do what you feel is comfortable." He said and she began to lick up and down his cock, making him jolt.
She tried but her small mouth couldn't do it, she decided to lick the tip, and as her spit coated his cock, it was easier for her to move her hand up and down.
"Oh god." Steve shuddered. "So good."
Y/N moaned on his cock as Bucky used his finger and began to pump it in and out as his tongue licked her soaked clit.
"B-Bucky." Y/N moaned and Bucky moved faster and faster and she whined.
"S-Somethings happening." Y/N said and Bucky didn't stop but went faster. "Oh god."
She began to feel an overwhelming feeling in her tummy.
"Your gonna cum." Steve said and looked up and watched as she as mess as Bucky fingered her. "Bucky she's gonna cum."
Y/N arched her back and suddenly she felt the coil snap, the overwhelming feeling washed over her, making her quiver and legs shake.
She felt something pooling at her core and Bucky came up and was coated in juices.
"Steve she squirted all over my face, her juices just kept flowing." Bucky said and as Y/N was gasping for breath she didn't realize that Bucky lost his garments as well.
"I think it's time for her to take us, don't you think?" Steve asked and Bucky nodded.
"You take her first, I'm thicker." Bucky said and Y/N looked down and what he said was true. He was about 8-8.5 but he was thicker than Steve.
Steve came over and shivered as he looked at Y/N in her lust filled state.
"I'm gonna try and be gentle, okay?" Steve said and Y/N nodded. Steve put his hand down and Y/N grabbed it and rested it up against her face and sighed. "Ready?"
She nodded and Steve used his cock to slide across her folds and when he thought he had enough, he began to push in.
She gasped and immediately Bucky laid down beside her and soothed her with words. Tears began to fall from her eyes and tried to be strong.
The burning sensation was more apparent now as Steve stretched.
"Fuck me, this is the tightest cunt I've ever been in." Steve said and tried to hold the urge of fucking her senseless. "Like velvet."
"Your doing so good baby." Bucky said as Y/N began to breathe heavily. "You taking Steve so good."
"C-can I move princess?" Steve asked and Y/N nodded shakily.
Steve began to move his hips and slowly enter her in and out. She gasped as she soon felt pleasure over pain.
"How does it feel?" Bucky asked and Steve began to move his pace a little bit more.
"G-good." She said and Steve smirked at Bucky. "D-do you want me to-"
Bucky cut her off with a kiss and pressed his forehead against hers.
"No, this is all about you, trust me we have many nights for this." He said with a chuckle and sucked on her neck, leaning another big mark. She moaned loudly and it only stroked their ego more.
"Better than any man, you need to be fucked by someone who can pleasure you." Steve grunted. "Say it, say that no man would pleasure you like this."
Y/N had her mouth open but said nothing, Bucky used his finger to get her to look at him.
"He asked you to do something. Do it." Bucky ordered and cause Y/N to grip on Steve's cock tighter.
"N-No man would g-give me p-pleasure l-like this- oh god." Y/N said and began to whimper and feel herself getting close.
"Come with me princess." Steve said and used both fo his arms to hold Y/N up against his chest. Her warm filled cheeks pressed up against his hard chest.
She felt safe and contented and it only added more when Bucky came up from behind and held his palm up against her back.
"I'm coming." Y/N moaned out and lifted her head up and looked at Steve, grabbing his face and leaning it down for her to kiss. Steve growled and began to go fast as he reached his release.
He could feel the liquid spill on his thighs, causing his sex drive to increase.
A string of curses filled the air from Steve as he emptied himself inside of her. She felt his cock twitch in her and Bucky caught her before she fell back on the fur.
He rubbed her stomach as she felt knocked out, Steve chuckled and she could see the sweat off his forehead. His hair sticking to it as if he had run a marathon.
"Don't think we're done yet." Bucky said as Steve slowly pulled out, causing Y/N to wince from the empty feeling. "I still need to feel our gorgeous princess."
Bucky then switched places with Steve and Y/N felt his seed falling out.
Bucky thick cock went up and down her folds, collecting her slick and Steve's cum and making it a lubricant for himself.
"Alright princess, if you need me to stop, tell me." Bucky said and Y/N nodded as Steve massaged her breasts. Every so often pinching her nipple, making her jolt.
Bucky began to enter and this was another wave of pain as Bucky stretched her out more.
"It'll get easier over time, Bucky and I will never be satisfied." Steve said and squeezed her left breast. "We'll be filling you up almost every day and imagine our cottage filled with little ones."
Y/N was too hazed to feel anxiety, as Bucky's cock stretched her.
"Steve you were right, velvet." Bucky said and pulled out slowly, then pulling right back in.
Y/N winced and Steve touched her tummy and felt Bucky's bulge.
"You feel that? You feel Bucky cock so full inside you, it barely fits?" Steve asked and Y/N gripped Bucky's cock from Steve's words.
"You we're made for us." Bucky said as he began to set a pace. "Made to be our mate and mother to our children."
"Yes! Yes!" Y/N chanted and began to feel that same feeling of pleasure.
"Good girl princess." Bucky said and began to go harder and faster.
"Look at you taking a real orc's cock like a good girl." Steve said and kissed her cheek.
"Hell, just like that." Bucky said and began to slam into her causing Y/N to scream and arch her back. Bucky felt the same trickle as he did on his face earlier and saw as she spilled over his thighs.
"Yes princess, yes." Bucky said and just as he did Steve, he released inside of her. Both Steve and Bucky's cum coaxed her walls, claiming her as theirs.
Y/N began to breathe heavily once again and Bucky tried not to fall straight on her. So he gently pulled out and left her empty and yet full at the same time.
"Did I do good?" Y/N asked sleepily as both Orcs laid down beside her. Steve grabbed fresh water from the bucket they had and grabbed the ladle and helped her drink a bit.
"Yes, better than we've ever imagine, mate." Steve said and laid down beside her and placed his arm around her stomach.
"You did so good." Bucky said and put his arm around her chest. "Our princess now."
"But-" Y/N tried to talk but Steve shushed her and nuzzled his face into her neck.
"Sleep now, we have plenty of time for talking." Steve said and squeezed her tight.
Steve and Bucky could hear her soft snores as she fell asleep after taking the two Orcs.
"Our princess." Bucky said and looked down at her claimed core. Shutting his eyes as well and falling to sleep.
"Best treasure." Steve whispered and was the last one to sleep.
The three of them laid on the big fur blanket and the only thing that could be heard were frogs and crickets that made sounds in the night.
The lantern began to dim, leaving them in the dark. The princess slept peacefully and for the first time since she's been with the Orcs felt completely safe.

This is so weird but I have a cute image of Edges daughter being a single mother who recently was out of an abusive relationship and the judgement day becoming protective over her and her daughter. The whole thing starts because her daughter has a habit of running to Dom (who she was childhood friends with) when she's bored back stage or Damian when she's scared.
You’re doing amazing

This is all too much. I’m raising a three-year-old. While being in a big company and finally getting out of the abusive relationship, I was in. I had nowhere to go after I managed to get a three-year-old and I out of the house.
My dad took me in. It’s been kind of easy. Lyric and Ruby love their niece. I don’t leave Luna alone with Beth, though. Kind of don’t want to put anymore pressure on her than I have to. I also never left Luna with James. It always made me worry would he do the same to her if I left her.
Getting ready for Monday night, Raw has been harder since the draft. My dad has been drafted to SmackDown while I’m staying on the Raw roster. When Luna heard that, she was so upset. She loves her grandpa.
We had just made it to my locker room. When Luna announces to Mr Frog and me that she’s hungry. She puts her arms up for me to lift her, so I pick her up and grab her Mr frog. While walking, many superstars say ‘hi’ to her and she loves it.
“Mama down. I want down,” Luna says suddenly. I put her down, and she runs off.
“Luna sweetie, you can’t,” I pause. She runs off to Dominik, an old friend of mine. Well, he was a childhood best friend we grew up together.
“Dommy,” Luna says, putting her arms up. He chuckles and picks her up. He made sure her Mr frog didn’t fall.
“Alright miss Luna Lou, where’s your mommy?” he questions her. Luna points in my direction. I wave at them.
“Hey, I can um take her back if you don’t want her,” I say, suddenly feeling nervous.
“What? no it’s fine. You have to get ready. I’ll take her. She can finally meet the JD,” Dominik says, smiling.
“I mean, if that’s not a burden for you,” I reply.
“Oh, no, totally not. Come on Luna Lou, let’s go meet my friends,” Dominik says, walking off with Luna.
In Gorilla
I haven’t seen Luna in an hour or so. I’ve got time before my promo to see her. I hear giggling from behind me. Turning around and see Luna with the Judgement Day trailing behind her. I kneel down and open up my arms to get a hug from my baby girl.
“Y/N, before you go out there, I just want to say Luna told us what had happened,” Dominik says.
“She doesn’t know everything,” I say, confused.
“Mama, I told them that the mean man used to hit you because I always saw,” Luna says.
“Oh baby,” I say, cooing at her.
I don’t get to finish my sentence as my theme song starts playing. Rhea puts her arms out for Luna to jump in. I give her a quick thanks before running out.
In my promo, I was talking about how I wanted to fight Liv Morgan. It’s like Beetlejuice. you say his name three times and he like appears. I said Liv’s name three times and here she was, beating me down with Raquel. I feel them let off of me and feel hands help up and out of the ring to get backstage.
It’s Rhea. I pull her into a tight hug. She starts questioning me, “are you okay? They didn’t hurt you too bad, right?”
“I’m fine Rhea,” I reply. Our hug breaks up as a little Luna runs over to us, making sure I’m okay. All of us start to walk out of the gorilla when Cody Rhodes theme song comes on. I totally forgot Luna was scared of the pyro. So when Cody’s pyro went off, Luna jumped.
I expected her to run to me since grandpa Edge wasn’t here, but she didn’t. She ran straight to Damian. He picked her up, and she put her head on his shoulder, crying. I had Mr frog in my arms, so I walk over to her and give him to her.
“Come here, mama,” Rhea says to me when she notices me limping. I limp over to her and she picks me up. It’s like how Damian is holding Luna.
“Luna,” Dominik says, trying to get her to stop crying.
“Your mama is just like you,” Finn says, poking at her. Luna looks up and sees me in Rhea’s arms. A little smile makes it to her face.
“Mama?” Luna questions.
“Yes baby,” I reply.
“Why is Mami holding you?” She wonders.
“Well, your mama was limping, so I decided to help her,” Rhea answers, smiling at Luna.
The rest of the night was also spent with the Judgement Day. Luna could not get enough of them and instead of spending the night in a room that I still had to pay for, the four of them suggested we stay in their room since it was big enough.
Luna slept in a bed with Damian and Finn while I was cuddled up next to Rhea and Dominik. This was the most safe I’ve ever felt since I left James and it’s all because of the Judgement Day.

His Promises
Tumblr media
Summary: he promised he wouldn’t make a big event out of wedding
Warnings: just fluff!, mafia Tony x reader
He promised.
He promised you that he wouldn’t go to the extremes. He promised you it wouldn’t be a damned city-wide event. But you knew your soon-to-be-husband was all for flair and extravagance. You knew he was goin’ to bring the damned president into the city for it. You knew he was going to invite every politician and royal family member possible to this event.
“You look amazing,” Natasha smiled at you as she gazed at your reflection in the mirror. “He’s going to swoon over you once he sees you walking down the aisle.”
“If he doesn’t cry at the site of me, I’m turning right around and going home to pack my bags.” you joked as you leaned into Natasha’s hand as she touched your cheek. “I told him not to make it so big. I can’t believe him.”
“Why not?” she chuckled. “You know he was going to invite everyone he could possibly know to this damned thing. He loves you and he wants the world to know it. You have him wrapped around your pinky finger. Everyone assumed he would die alone and powerful until he met you. He changed so much because of you and he’s become such a better man than the one I had met so many years ago.”
“I’m scared and I don’t know why, Nat.” you pouted slightly.
“It’s a big day,” Natasha assured. “You’ll do fine, Y/N. I promise. Just think about walking to Tony and being happy with him for the rest of your life. He’ll protect you from any harm. You know that. The man runs this damn city in tight quarters. You’d be a fool to think he wouldn’t protect his wife.”
“Okay.” you smiled at her, though you still felt so terribly nervous at the prospect of screwing up your wedding day.
“Just think about Tony.” she repeated before a knock came at the door and James Rhodes tenderly peeked through the doors, though he had covered his eyes to assure your privacy. “Is the bride-to-be ready?”
“Yes, Rhodey.” Natasha answered, with a smile before leaning over and carefully placing a kiss on your forehead and exiting the room quickly.
You grabbed the extravagant bouquet of flowers Tony had made for you before walking out of the room. Your heart was pounding in your chest. You felt nervous all over your body. But you concentrated on walking to the doors that would reveal the large room with politicians, your friends, and your family.
“You look amazing.” Rhodey complimented as you approached him. He had been a wonderful friend to you ever since you had started dating Tony and you had considered the man your best friend. It was a pleasure for you and him that he would be the one to hand over your hand to none other than the Mobster King himself, Anthony Stark.
“I feel like throwing up.” you admitted quietly. “What if he’s not there and his was all just a joke for him, Rhodey? What if he didn’t want to marry me? What if this was all a joke?”
Scoffing lighlty, he turned to face you. “You need to stop your worrying, kid. He’s standing there. Don’t you hear all the chatter and clutter going on behind these doors?”
Listening for a moment, you nodded. “Of course.”
“Then you would know that Tony wouldn’t have done any of this if he didn’t love you. He changed so much since you came into his life. You’ve no idea how lovesick this man is for you, even after all this time. He wouldn’t hurt you. Ever. So don’t think like that, okay?”
You nodded.
“Give me one moment to talk to the orchestra. Okay?”
You nodded once more before he quietly slipped through the doors in front of you. A few moments later, music had sounded, signalling for you to get on with walking down the aisle in front of all your family and friends. James had reappeared by your side as the doors opened. You clutched your arm around his own as you counted your steps.
He was calm besides you, gently rubbing his thumb along your hand, a gentle smile spread on his lips as he faced forward, staring at the husband-to-be Tony Stark.
You locked eyes with your mobster king and felt tears well up at the sight of him; he looks so incredibly handsome and all you had wanted to do was to run to him and plant a kiss against his lips. But you couldn't; you had to be patient and make your way over to him first. Soon enough, you had made the long stride to the alter, Rhodey softly kissing your hand before he stood by Tony’s side.
The wedding was as beautiful as you imagined it when you had been a little girl, dreaming of this day in your life. Tony was handsome as usual. He had a smile plastered to his face during your vow reciting. His brown eyes bore into your own, causing your heart to flutter in your chest.
This man had been so sincere to you and so generous. You couldn’t imagine your life without him. At first, it was a hard thing to discover when you had found out that he was a mobster king. But you had soon gotten over that fact. He always protected you, never letting you out of his sight unless Natasha or Rhodey were with you.
You remembered the first time he had unveiled his love for you and you always thought back to that night. The pair of you had been watching a movie; he had been sitting on the couch and you were sprawled out on the remaining seats, your head on his lap. You had felt his eyes on you and had looked up to see his big brown eyes staring at you, a sot smile lifting his mouth ever so slightly.
“What is it, Tony?” you asked. “Is the movie boring? I can-”
“I love you.” he mumbled, his finger tracing your bottom lip softly. “You’re so beautiful; I love you.”
“Tony, I-”
“Shh.” he placed his finger slightly firm against your lips before he nodded tot he tv. “You’re missing my favorite part of the movie.”
You knew at that moment that you couldn’t live your life without this man

Brooklyn Baby. (๑>◡<๑)
a dbf! bucky x afab! reader.
word count : 3130
honestly everything is the same but Bucky is like healed happy and he more like amazing soldier then winter solder lol and jazz thanos didn’t happen causes it’s not marvel it’s more like real army idk with Tony still bring a billionaire + vision being ‘normal’ like wandavison and wanda acting like that aswell :)
cw: y/n is down so bad, cocky!bucky, slightly toxic! bucky not at first, age gaps (y/n is 21 while bucky is 38), cursing, smut. jealously, secret relationship. mentions of skin tone doesn’t exist here. daddy issues, slight mommy issues idk characters pick up the reader theyre all STRONG ass men so dont think the reader is supposed to be petite or anything!! ALSO there’s mention of recent readers 21 birthday ok I’m a june 3 gemini so… idk… ur birthday but it’s technically going to be hot in the fanfic so summer but I won’t say birthdates
Your mother had you at 17 leading to your father going into the military at 18 leaving you and your mother, fighting for his country meeting friends turning into family including bucky
i've always thought when someone watches someone growup then bangs them is kinda sooooo odd.. so bucky was never really around the reader when she was a kid he was on duty and when he was around the reader was way to nervous to even be downstairs when he was there so its not like that!!!!!!

“Now landing in New York! enjoy your holiday or welcome home!” The flight attendant says waking you up. You stood gain the feeling back in your legs, got your suitcase from above you wait for the people in front of you to get their items.
Your phone finally gained service flooding in texts from your roommate asking if you got on the flight safe. a bit from your mother telling you to make your dad get you things and more family telling you to have fun and say hi to your father for them. after reading most you finally got to your father's texts telling you his friends were coming to the airport to get you and to be “nice to them”
Just great. You loved your dads' friends the only thing was you had a crush on about every one of them realizing how attractive they are when you hit puberty making you shy around them leading to them thinking you dislike them. It had been 8 years since you left to California to live with your mother for school/the social life (Californian here!) Visiting during summers, Christmas, Thanksgivings and or your father's birthday. After 18 you choose spending summers and most holidays with your father and mother sometimes coming with.
Your fathers' main friends. Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, San Wilson, Thor Odinson, Clint Barton, James Rhodes. James “Bucky” Barnes, & Scott Lang. Your father had a lot of friends from all over and They were all handsome, but Bucky was breathtaking. You hadn’t seen him in 8 years well you seen him but hadn't even had a full convo you would avoid him like the plague being so embarrassed of the things you talked about with your friends when they pointed him out in family vacation photos.
You finally fully got off the plane moving quicky not wanting to be late and make them wait outside as you arrive outside blinded by the brightness of the sun as you wait for your eyes to adjust. As you finally get the hang of the brightness you hear some walking fast behind you “NO WAY SAME AIRPORT!?” Scott says as he walks over holding cassies hand as she waves aggressively with her other hand you smile wide knowing Scott lived above you in California , San Francisco. So it made sense landing in the same airport.
A car horn makes you all look over quickly seeing an Chrysler 300 with a metal arm out the window meeting the glasses of a guy smirking at you and before you could react someone busts open the back door making your face light up realizing who it was.
“DOUNTTTTT!!!!!” Clint screamed getting looks from other people there as you ran to him aswell
“HAWKEYE!!!” Clint had earned the name hawkeye when he had been the only one approved to use a bow and arrow with guns on the field and according to your dad he moved and had the eyes of a hawk giving him the nickname “Hawkeye” which you loved as a child still using now when he called to check on you helping you during fails and letting you stay with his family during fights with your mom.
"Geez you look all different kid had to make sure it was you." Clint says as he hugged you tightly giving you a kiss on the forehead while taking your suitcase in the other arm.
"Is that really you superstar you got taller or is something else different?" A kind smile meets your eyes as Sam reaches over the driver's seat "Well, I'm 21 now! last time you seen me I was like what 17?" Clint nods his head as he puts your suitcase in the back of the car.
“WHATS UP TINY” Sam says as he gets out the car to run and hug Cassie earning a giggle from Cassie as he lifts her up “oh you brought your father” sam jokes as he puts her down “Yeah ok Sam it’s great to see you to” Scott laughs as he hugs him and Clint
"Hello ladybug" Bucky says removing his glasses. he called you ladybug when he came home from duty to you welcoming him home with your dad in a ladybug outfit and when you dyed your hair red and black and always wore black and white. You liked ladybugs and liked that the few times you spoken; he had called you one.
"James-" he laughed slightly at your formality reminding you that bucky was fine making your stomach fluttery at the eye contact "Almost drove past you bug. You look beautiful you father talks about you like you're still a kid hiding from us on the stairs. But then I seen Scott your a lifesaver Scott " Bucky eyes you making you feel small under his gaze.
"Woah lay off the charm handsome" Scott laughs out loud not causing Bucky to break eye contact just smirk a bit more.
You get in the car begging bucky to drive you home fast He laughs and jokes about how insane Californians are with driving. OfCourse the two in the car start agreeing and shit talking Californians. You laugh seeing as you were literally in NEW YORK and so were they. and in an argument between the worst driving between New York and Cali? New York takes the cake or at least in your opinion.
you see scott putting his stuff in the back and you asking if Scott and Cassie were getting a ride then you got confirmation that Scott was invited by your father and you would be going to the same place!
the car ride was a bit quiet besides humming from you or clint. Many questions from Cassie before she passed out knocked out after 5 minutes. Bucky did ask about school, housing, and asked how your mom was doing. You answered all happily just happy to talk to anyone other then your roommate or your mom. Sam starts to ask the ‘good’ questions asking if you had had a drink yet since you had (recently) turned 21 extremely quietly looking over at Cassie You answered half ass knowing you truthfully had only had a few cocktails and maybe a beer while at a party only enough to get tipsy nothing getting you drunk.
You Start to pull up to the house watching your father standing outside with Tony talking about something noticing us pulling in.
“OH YOUR HOME” you father says LOUDLY gaining a very blank stare from Tony covering his ear rolling his eyes. He parks and you run out to hug your father being too broke to see him but not wanting to ask others to pay for a ticket you hugged him for a while before tony ask how long it’s been since you had seen each other.
“6 Months. Longest time since I was on duty.” You father answers gaining a frown from you. “College payment. I went broke and tried working overtime but my car-“your father cut you off with another hug reminding you that you’re here now daddy issue go crazy.
It had taken a while to repair the relationship with your father dealing with the damage of what he did and how his cheating broke up your family and how he ‘parented you’ due to his own issues and ‘shell shock’ from the years at service you could recognize he was trying so hard to change and heal.
“not to ruin the moment but I have a surprise or well we have a surprise let’s go inside” you dad says as you watch Clint grab your bag so you start walking in with your dad.
Steve, and Rhodes were talking in the kitchen looking over and noticing you. “Hell kid you sure grew up” Steve walks over giving you a big hug seen as those are common today sorry if you hate hugs Rhodes behind also giving you a hug.
“Ok give me the floor please lady’s and gentlemen. I and Darren have decided to force all of you to go on a family trip with us and before any of you say shit like ‘work’ or ‘kids’ or whatever I will slap you i cleared everything for you guys cause I’m me. But yeah kids are coming with causes it a damn huge lake house” Tony says as he pulls his laptop out to pull up the lake house Information.
“We and I mean WE ALL will be staying at Twin Oaks At The Chapin Estate for the summer because I own that place and it sits there collecting dust. HEY, Clint your kids they will have a room with bunk beds and Scott you okay with Cassie bunking them and Morgan?” Scott said it was perfectly fine with him if It was okay with Cassie who was nodding. Tony continued “it’s me and pepper of course Darren already claimed his room Nat and banner are gonna visit but not stay, Vision, Wanda, their kids and Thor will be staying in a place that they decided to rent like a seven-minute walk away from away from us so that’s cool. So that’s three more rooms any takers?
Everyone was kind of collecting information. You were overjoyed about going out to the lake and the family restaurants in that area. Sam said that he was fine with a couch and really didn’t need a room which a few people without rooms started to agree with.
As everyone started talking about rooms and stays and everything else your mind starts to wander to Bucky and the thought you and him staying in the same place overnight although you did feel a bit silly getting so excited over that. You didn’t even realize he was sitting right in front of you at the table smiling at you making you feel warm you stupidly thought if he could hear your thoughts. You thought about asking your dad to put you both in the same room cringing at the look your father would give you.
“hey ladybug” bucky whispers making you look at him making eye contact for the first time in a bit. “Hm?” You ask trying not to express any nervousness especially not around everyone else and especially not in front of him. “excited? I haven’t been on a trip in forever even if we’re staying in New York that place is expensive knowing Tony” you agreed saying you were excited just nervous about getting bored or homesick he laughed a bit and reminded you he won’t let you get bored locking eye contact feeling his knee slightly hit yours before he his smirk slightly grew.
“Okay final decision. Me and pepper, Clint and Laura, The kids, Darren, y/n, Rhodes, and Steve. And for some reason the rest of you prefer the couches? I dont know but I don’t care it’s figured out. Also shit I told the kids I’m sponsoring that he can bring his friends out to the lake and the pool and the gym and all that they aren’t staying but heads up.”
“Parker?” Darren asks. Tony nodded his head as he closed his computer. Everyone looked happy and it make you happy. Bucky would be using a couch which seemed like something he would do but being honest he’ll probably share a room with Steve falling asleep on the couch in Steve’s room of choice. You were fine with him sneaking in your room though
When the thought came to your head your looked at him right away giggling and squeezing your legs together like a teenager everyone looked at your confused and you father asked what was so funny backed up by bucky wondering as-well you laughed again apologizing and changing the subject saying you would be going shopping to pack for the trip backed up by Scott asking if you would be so kind to pick up a bathing suit for Cassie which you agreed
“Do you even remember where everything is?” Bucky teased. Why was he being so flirty? Were you being delusional?? Were you misinterpreting everything? Was he flirting or just hot and talking .
“yeah. Wanna go with just incase I forgot?” Smoothhhh you thought to yourself begging that no one else will invite themselves attempting to keep his invitation quiet.
“Don’t mind if I do. I have the ugliest swim trunks so I have to get new ones hun” he replied getting up saying he would get his keys
Everyone else said it would be smart to go Home and pack or something all deciding to meet up here again the next morning at 7am to start the drive over seeing as it would take a few hours did my research frfr
about 30 minutes later! (>ω^)
“sooo adult Life? How do you like it? I asked this before but in a car full of people and a kid so is it the same answer?” Bucky asked as walked around the clothing store you laughed knowing you did change your answer cause of the people in the car
“It’s shit. My mom forgets I’m a adult and cussed me out because i went to “way to many parties in one week” and posted “things” when I knew people from church view my story so she took my car which caused me to spend everything on a new one which is why I couldn’t pay to come out here” you could feel the words pouring out of you and Bucky was an amazing listener he followed every word you spoke feeling and reading you emotions and you could tell that made your heart pound.
“Man im sorry kid. Why didn’t you reach out? Dumb question I know it can be hard but your ‘uncle’ is a billionaire he would have happily got you a ticket to visit and your dad missed you like crazy he would have definitely helped.”
you frowned again. “oh no ladybug I didn’t mean like you did something wrong I’m just saying we’re here for you. We care and if you ever need to come out here for anything we will happily help. excuse me I’m not the best with words”
“you’re great. thank you bucky.” you said as you hugged his arm he pulled you away a bit which made you confused but then he gave you a full hug in the middle of the store which made you laugh in embarrassment, but you wouldn’t let him go. He smelt so good and covered so much of you he held on to you so tightly and easy it make you shake.
“Woah you're shaking to hard of a hug. Sorry kid” you held on before he could let go and reassured him that you were fine and just a bit touch starved, he let out an attractive laugh whispering take all the time you need. You could feel the change in your panties as you grew wetter in his hold as he whispered asking If you were alright. Making you hold him tighting nodding you head.
You finally let go shaking embarrassed that you were this into a hug for crying out loud. You locked eye contact he was smirkingly as usual looking down at your basket asking if you got everything you needed you nodded asking if he did Aswell seeing as he had nothing.
“Oh no sweetheart I just wanted a excuse to come with” you genuinely felt like you had a flood in your panties you felt so shameless for getting so wet over that over everything he did or said you nodded and smiled at him walking away before you did something stupid.
While in line Bucky was clearly eyeing your basket. The underwear the bikini THE everything or maybe he was just looking over? Unless he asked “isn't that a bit small?” pointing at the bikini “your daddy isn't gonna like that”
“I don’t care what daddy thinks or says I want the bikini”
for once Bucky looked surprised or well for a few seconds before he had a different look on his face he looked so good like he liked whatever I said I didn’t want to jump to conclusions but you’re sure it had something with saying daddy.
“Move in line y/n” once again whispering in your ear you did once again feeling that pulse in your panties. If he whispered in your ear one more time you were gonna-
“You total is $226.88 cash credit? Debit? Or Apple Pay” The cashier snapped you out of it with that total as you were so confused how you got that much stuff for a 1-and-a-half-month trip. Before you could think Bucky puts his Card in being way to buff for you to cross over and cancel you just stood there saying nonooooooooo i GOT it when you definitely didn’t have it but Bucky did. Tony slipped him a card
He grabbed your bags grabbing your hand aswell leading you out saying let’s go.
“Bucky that was a lot of money.” He ignores you as you both get back into the car as you keep repeating that he didn’t need to and that you needed to look at everything to see if it was even worth it and he still wasnt repling until he did.
“Y/n i GOT it. Please kid don’t worry about me we’re gonna have so much fun and spend a lot of time together if thats alright with you and if you would stop stressing about some money right now we could start having fun right sweetheart? Thank you.” He said calmly just sternly making me sit back into lt seat
“Atta girl thank you” you almost whimpered outloud he was very leading and it made you weak he probably knew so much things you don’t you want him to teach you
“hellllllllo you’re Home ladybug” you look around seeing that youre in your driveway and start to freak out nervous to ask for his number. “Thank you so much. Is there anyway we could talk? Instagram? Number? Email? Sorry that’s silly.“ you were mixing all of your words up again. he nodded and took his phone out handing his phone to you as you put you phone number in you felt his eyes on you.
“Thank you i was going to ask someone for you number but easy if you did First” you GOT nervous at THE idea that he fought of you.
“good night Bucky don’t forget tomorrow” You said as you got your bags and got out the card.
“Oh i wouldn’t miss it for the world ladybug” he said as he watching you making sure you got into the house safely
until next time sweetheart.

Broken
Summary: after Civil War you meet and bond with Bucky Barnes. You want to help him, but do you really realize how hard it's going to be?
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female Reader
Warnings: Minimal use of Y/N. Hints to eating disorder. Language probably, for now just fluff and innocent and broken Bucky. My poor attempts at being funny.
Word Count: 2.7K
A/N: This is my first story, and it's taken me a long time to even decide to post it. As of now I honestly have no idea where this story is going, the idea just popped in my head and I ran with it. I do have the first three chapters ready and I'm starting the fourth, I hope I find a plot at some point, we'll see how this one does and go from there.
Also, this is a reader version of a story I have on wattpad with an OC, if anyone wants to check that out the name's the same :) I had to rewrite it accordingly so if there are any mistakes that's why, feel free to point them out so I can fix them thanks.

You enter the kitchen of the Avengers tower and saw two people sitting at the counter, immediately recognizing the one closer to the door.
"Stevie!" you practically yell, running towards the blonde man who stands up and opens his arms in time for you to jump on him, hugging him tightly while he raises you in the air and spins a little.
"Good morning, koala bear." he says while chuckling lightly.
"When did you come back?" you ask excitedly after a few minutes of hugging, not letting go just yet.
"Last night." he answered "Nat said you had just gone to sleep, I didn't wanna wake you."
"Steve, what's happening? Is she hurting you?" a voice you've never heard says.
You let go just enough for him to be able to put you back on the ground without letting go of you.
"It's okay, Buck, it's just a hug." he say to the other man as you turn a little to look at him better. He has a confused look on his face, at which Steve adds "It's just a way to express affection, it's fine."
At this you're a little confused yourself so you look at Steve who gives you a look that tells you not to question him, so you don't.
Instead you let go of Steve, turning completely towards his friend and stepping a little closer.
"Hi," you say looking at him and introducing yourself.
He doesn't look very comfortable so you don't try to shake his hand, choosing to wave a little with a smile.
He answers with a quiet "Bucky." while looking at the ground, like he's quite sure if he's even allowed to answer.
You tilt your head to the side, considering him for a second before saying "Do you want a hug, too? I promise I won't hurt you." you add quickly after he raises his head a little and you notice a slightly worried look on his face.
He thinks about it before just shrugging and nodding his head slightly.
"Okay. Do you... want to get up?" you hesitantly ask and he raises his head a little more, still not looking at your face but slowly getting up from his chair.
You glance at Steve who seems very interested in what's happening and is watching intently without making a sound. Your eyes meet for a few seconds and he raises an eyebrow and motions slightly towards his friend as if to tell you to keep going. You nod and get closer to Bucky until you're right in front of him.
You watch him for a couple of seconds and when his head stays lowered you decide to take the lead and move to put your arms around his neck, slowly so as not to startle him.
After several seconds of you gently hugging him while he stands with his arms to his sides, you're about to pull away when you feel him slowly move his arms to your lower back and keep them there lightly, being very careful like he was afraid of hurting you.
You smile a little into his shoulder and wait a couple of minutes before pulling away.
"Now that wasn't so bad, was it?" you tease, your hands still on his shoulders.
He gives you a little smile and finally looks you in the eyes for the first time and, as soon as his eyes meet yours, you're transfixed by how blue they are.
You're not sure how long you two stay looking into each other's eyes, but you're brought back to reality by Bucky's voice.
"Are you okay?" he asks, seeming genuinely concerned.
"Yes? Um... if you ever want another hug I'm always up for it... I love giving hugs." you say smiling and taking your hands off his shoulders as he drops his arms to his sides again.
He drops his gaze to the ground again, while your eyes stay on his face and you see a small smile and a slight nod.
After a few more seconds of looking at him you turn around and start walking towards the fridge, passing Steve and noticing a weird smirk on his face.
"What?" you ask him with a confused look but still smiling.
"Nothing..." he says, still smirking.
"Okay, weirdo." you say back laughing a little.
"Okay, weirdo. Breakfast?" he asked.
"No, I'll just drink some water." you say casually, avoiding his eyes.
"Y/N..." he says warningly.
"It's fine, Stevie, I'm just not hungry." you say, still not looking at him and grabbing a water bottle from the fridge.
As soon as you turn around you're met with the slightly disappointed face of Steve and the confused face of Bucky.
"Besides I don't have to train until this afternoon..." Steve's worry doesn't fade, so you add "I'll eat something later, I swear." you don't know if he's convinced, but his face softens and he lets it go.
"How about you fill me in about what happened while I was gone?" he says, changing the subject with a sympathetic smile.
"Sure, I'll just take a shower first, is that okay?" He nods and you run to your room to take a quick shower.
After you come out you put on some sweatpants and a sports bra just to not have to change until after training.
You grab a hairbrush and run back downstairs where you find Steve waiting for you alone while sitting at the table.
"Hi koala, that was a quick shower." he says with a smile when he sees you.
You lean with your back to the counter in front of the table he's sitting at and start brushing your still damp hair.
"Yep, you know me it's either 5 minutes or 50." you say smiling while he chuckles. "Where'd your friend go?" you ask casually while concentrating on brushing away a knot in your hair.
"He went to take a shower. Last night he was so tired he practically passed out in the guest room."
You humm a response before asking "So, is he gonna live here now? You know, be a part of the team and all? Tony refused to share any details with me..." you add with disappointment, which you're sure he notices because of his answer.
"Tony's still not 100% okay with it, but he's getting there. You know how he is, he doesn't talk about things until he's finished processing them... anyway yes, he'll live here and eventually be part of the team, I hope."
You look up and think about his words before nodding and waiting for him to speak again, but when he doesn't you try to sound as casual as you can while asking questions about his friend. "Why did you have to tell him what a hug is?"
He doesn't look you in the eye and you know he's getting uncomfortable so you don't really expect him to answer. But he does nonetheless
"Buck's not really been himself for the last 70 years... he hasn't been shown a lot of kindness or humanity. That's why I was surprised that he let you hug him so fast. Don't get me wrong I'm happy about it, it's real progress I just wasn't expecting it so soon..." You let him talk without interrupting, pretending to be more concentrated on your hair than his word so as to not make him even more uncomfortable.
You know stories about Bucky in the 40s from Steve and you have seen photos of him, only in black and white, but it was nothing compared to having him in front of you. Something about him just made you want to know more, like you were drawn to him.
You guess Steve picked up on this because, after a little pause, he adds "Look, I know you want to know more, but it's not my story to tell. If and when he's ready, it's up to him who he wants to tell." damn him for knowing you so well.
Of course you understand what he was saying and you know he's right, so you nod and say "You're right... I won't push it, I promise." before he has time to reply though Bucky enters the kitchen with different clothes and wet hair.
To not let him know you were just talking about him Steve quickly says "So, tell me, what have I missed around here?"
You thought about it for a moment as you watch Bucky make his way through the kitchen and sit at the table next to Steve.
"Um, well, Tony made a new addition to the team. It was very abrupt and it's weird that he's so young, but he's a nice kid. His name is Peter, he's 15 from Queens and apparently he's this Spider-man that's been all over youtube. What?"
As you talked you could see a bit of guilt on Steve's face. "We've met him... didn't know he was a kid though..."
"Well, what happened?" you ask, getting more and more frustrated that no one will tell you anything.
You're part of the team after all, and, even though you don't have powers or are a super soldier, you think you have a right to know why everyone suddenly disappeared one day on some mission that you weren’t allowed to know anything about, and why it took half of the team a couple more weeks than the others to come back.
It's not that it was uncommon for you not to know details of a mission you weren't assigned to, but, since Fury chose you from the SHIELD agents to join the Avengers several years ago, it's never happened that a mission required the WHOLE team except one single person.
What pissed you off even more it's that you're not the youngest in the team, nor are you the newest or the least trained.
You started as a SHIELD agent right before Natasha, granted you were a teenager, but both of you trained a lot together with Clint and you fought alongside the other Avengers in the battle of New York.
You also fought together against Ultron, where you united forces with the Maximoff twins, Wanda and Pietro, (the latter had to spend a lot of time in the medbay after, having almost died) and then also Vision, which is still a little weird since you still have Jarvis controlling the tower.
In all of this time you developed family-like bonds with the whole team.
You honestly consider Tony a father figure, him and Pepper treat you like a daughter and you love them for it. Rhodey, Happy and Bruce are like uncles.
Natasha is like a big sister and Wanda is like a younger one. Clint, Thor and even Loki (since he's been made to spend his exile with you as punishment for New York) have been like big brothers to you, Vision and Pietro are kind of like younger brothers, and now even Peter the last few months.
Scott is another new face that's quickly becoming a chaotic best friend. Sam is like a best friend that still shamelessly flirts with you, after years, obviously knowing nothing is going to happen.
And Steve is your absolute best friend, your favorite brother. He's overprotective (to be fair they all are when it comes to you) and caring, can't really say no to you, spoils you a little and you love every minute of it.
They are your family, and having them keep what feels like a very serious and important situation from you, and only you, not only makes you extremely angry, but it's also very sad to think they don't trust you enough.
Or at least that's what it feels like even though they keep telling you that's absolutely not the case.
You can see how uncomfortable Bucky is getting, while Steve is looking more and more guilty by the second, but neither is saying anything, so you just give up.
"Fine," you say, a little disappointed. "Don't tell me. I guess I'll have to wait on Tony to know."
You don't wait for them to answer as you bring your attention to Bucky.
"Can I?" you ask him while pointing to his hair with the brush that you just finished using on yourself.
He gives just you a confused look, so you explain. "Your hair is pretty long, it would be better if you brushed it before it dries otherwise it hurts like hell to do it later."
He looks at Steve with an uncertain expression, and, when the blonde just shrugs in response, Bucky looks back at you and nods.
You go around the table and position yourself behind Bucky. "I'll be as gentle as I can, but I'm sorry if I hurt you. If you want me to stop, just say so, okay?"
He nods again and you start to slowly and carefully brush his hair while telling Steve all the things you did with the others while he was gone.
The mysterious mission happened about 3 months ago, half of the team came back after a day, the others a couple of weeks later, while Steve and Bucky were the only ones to come back just now.
You tell Steve how you bonded with Peter over being "Tony's children", how Scott became something of a girlfriend and the time you spent with him and his daughter, Cassie, who was just adorable.
You tell him about the weird best friend-like friendship that Peter and Loki developed, much to Tony's annoyance, but that you find very cute and funny.
You tell him about all the pranks that you pulled with anyone and against everyone, specially with Sam, Scott and Loki and against Happy, Clint and Thor.
Steve knows everyone in the team is very quick to forgive you, he always jokes about how you have everyone wrapped around your finger, especially Tony.
And you have to admit, he's not totally wrong. Nobody really stays mad at you for more than a couple of days, and sometimes you're definitely treated like the kid of the family. The golden child.
Even Fury has a soft spot for you, which is very rare, to the point that you're the only one allowed to call him Nick.
You also tell Steve of all the "family time" he missed, which is essentially a whole lot of movie nights, game nights and things like that.
You tell him all the jokes you can remember being said, all the funny moments, all the missions and all the times when you missed him like crazy.
By the time you're done telling him everything you could remember, he's crying laughing and you're almost done with Bucky's hair.
"Are you okay? Am I hurting you?" you ask Bucky, as Steve tries to compose himself, still laughing at the prank you and Sam pulled on Clint where you turned his whole room into a giant bird's nest.
Bucky shakes his head and says a quiet "I'm okay" that you're sure Steve doesn't even hear over his own laughter.
You gently finish brushing his hair, then sit in the chair next to him leaning in and gently turning his head towards you so you can check you did a complete job.
At this point his hair is dry and falling down both sides of his face. You push his hair behind his ears to see his face better and smile, his eyes scanning your face.
Neither of you take notice that Steve has stopped laughing and is watching you with the same smirk he had after you hugged as you're both too intent in taking in each other's appearances.
"Is that better?" you ask after a few minutes of silence.
"What?" he ask, a little confused, which makes you giggle.
"Your hair. Is that better?" you ask again.
"Oh. Yeah, thank you." he says blushing, his voice still very quiet.
"You're adorable." you said with another giggle that makes Steve laugh too, while Bucky blushes even more.
You smile at him again before getting up, giving Steve a kiss on the side of the head while you pass him and going towards the door. "I'll see you guys at lunch. I'm supposed to meet Scott and Cassie in 10 minutes. Bye, Stevie."
"Bye, koala bear." Steve answers.
"Bye, Bucky."
"Bye." he says, still kind of quiet but loud enough for you to hear.
You turn around and give him one last smile before going through the living room to the elevator and to the floor that Scott's now living in and where Cassie spent the night.

‘Tony Stark lives to fight another day, the world thanks you Iron man!’
You threw the newspaper down onto the pile of others that had gathered on your dining table, all of them with the same front cover.
Your father, in the almost identical suit you remember him wearing when you were a child. Unlike the majority of Earth’s population, you’d grown to resent the piece of metal, it plagued the relationship you had with your dad, or the relationship that you could’ve had with him and while everyone thanked him, praised him, bent over backwards to accommodate him and his needs, you simply wanted nothing to do with it.
So, you left home, changed your last name to your mothers, Potts, and cut contact with your father. She wasn’t happy with your decisions, however she couldn’t help but understand. She knew that Tony wasn’t the most attentive father, he often misjudged his priorities, she’d hoped that with a child in their life, things would be different, but you fell through the cracks much like everything else. Your friends would talk in the playground about going to the beach with their dad last weekend and getting their favourite ice cream, and you’d stay quiet, knowing that your dad had kicked you out of his bedroom and asked Happy if he could ‘deal with the kid’ so he could focus on developing some new suit tech.
It did hurt you, even when you moved. Even when you were sitting in your apartment and everything was designed exactly how you liked. Even when you were able to come and go as you please. Even when your time was your own. But you realised that these weren’t achievements for you, it wasn’t anything different. How could it be an achievement when it was all you’d known? The only change now was that you didn’t have your mother or Happy to keep you company.
Your ‘newfound freedom’ was really just loneliness.
When you told your mother your plans starting in the next few months, it’s safe to say that she wasn’t best pleased. Joining the military was never really in your big life plans, you guess it was always assumed that you’d follow in Tony’s footsteps and be the next in line of starks to revolutionise technology.
Maybe the military was an act of rebellion, maybe it was to try and get your dad's attention, possibly even some respect. If that was the goal, it didn’t get very far considering his response was “uh huh, that’s nice honey, come look at this new upgrade I got for JARVIS.” You weren’t there, but you could hear it through the phone, followed by Pepper’s disappointed sigh and saying that she had to go, but that you’d both talk soon.
Which brings you to current day.
______________________________
You were back at base, just coming back from your last Government mission with your partner that you’d grown to be pretty close to, James Rhodes. Well, Colonel Rhodes if anyone else is around. He’s had his own fair share of trying to find some common ground, his main attempts being aimed towards the fact you both know Tony Stark, though you quickly shut it down, changing the subject onto something a little more bearable. He hadn’t tried since.
“God, I need a shower.” You mumbled, walking side by side with Rhodes, trying to dust yourself off of whatever dirt you’d managed to cover yourself in this time, not that you had any success with it.
“Yeah? I’ve been stuck in a hunk of metal this entire time, do you know how hot those suits are?”
“Maybe you should ask if they can install some Air Conditioning next time you hand in the suit.” You laughed, elbowing him playfully, but he acted as if you’d punched him in the ribs.
“You wounded me!”
“You’re such a baby, how on earth have you stayed in a job?” You joked, your smile only growing when you catch on to his reactions.
“Did you not read our anti-bullying policy Potts?”
“I must’ve skipped that page, my apologies.”
He looked as though he was about to make another comeback, but he appeared distracted as he drew his gaze away from you and towards the group of armed, what looked to be agents, speaking to the General up ahead.
“Well this doesn’t look good.”
You were confused by this response, is it bad that they’re here? Did he know them?
Still, you continued walking towards them, following Rhode’s lead until you both stood right next to these agents. You scanned them, trying to see if there was anything you recognised, but all you gathered was that most of these people were men. Except one.
There was one woman among them, she had red wavy hair that flowed down past her shoulders, bright green eyes and a smirk plastered on her face. Obviously not forgetting the gun strapped to her thigh in her black skin tight suit. She glanced at you briefly, probably amused at how dirty you looked, but not in a malicious way, more so in a teasing manner. Well, you hoped so anyways, this wasn’t the first impression you preferred to make on others, especially those who looked so beautiful, even in their uniform.
The General held his arm out towards you and Rhodes, clearly trying to mask his slight cringe at our appearance, though to be fair, if you’d known there’d be guests to impress, you definitely would’ve gone for that shower beforehand.
“These are two of our finest. I’m sure you’re familiar with Rhodes.”
“Ah yes, you’re the one who flies one of Stark's suits, right?” One of the agents asked.
It would be impolite, and would get you in more trouble than what it’s worth, but you did have to physically restrain yourself from rolling your eyes. Of course they’re familiar with Tony.
You caught the redhead agent looking at you with curiosity, and you wondered if she noticed your change in demeanour. You did try to hide it, but who knows how transparent you are when it comes to him. You gave her a slight smile, which seemed to work as she gave a small smile in return, focusing back on what was being said.
“And this is Potts. She’s our best fighter, very good at what she does.”
You held back a proud smile, not wanting to come across as gloating, but you couldn’t help it when you caught the agent looking at you again and noticed that she winked at you, seeming impressed with the compliment you received.
“Looks like they’ve been working pretty hard, General.”
You turned to Rhodey, both of you nodding, proud of yourselves for being noticed for your work. Not that you guys seeked the praise, but it was appreciated, especially when coming from your superior.
Or it could be fixing some unresolved issues from your childhood, but you choose to ignore that technicality, should it be true. In all honesty, you’re just glad they didn’t question your name.
“Always, they’re my top recommendations if you’re looking for new recruits. They’re the best.”
New recruits? Recommended?
“Sorry to interrupt, General, Agents, but what are we being recruited for?” You spoke,  confusion laced in your tone.
“Right, sorry Potts. These are agents who work for S.H.I.E.L.D. Their director sent them to enquire about an initiative that they need some new recruits for.”
“Initiative?”
“We’ll explain more on the jet.”
They responded, shaking hands with the General and walking away towards this huge, modern jet that you assumed was theirs. Both you and Rhodes followed closely behind, not questioning the decision.
“I guess we’re not getting that shower Rhodey.”
“Well if the smell gets too much, I’m sure they won’t mind if we just throw you out.”
You scoffed, hitting him in the shoulder, but not enough to actually move him.
“If you throw me out, I’m taking you down with me.”
“Good thing I've got a suit that’ll let me fly.” He joked.
If only he knew the trouble that suit created and what it destroyed.
You all clambered onto the jet, sitting in the seats that were scattered along the sides as your new favourite agent slipped into one of the driver seats.
“Hope you guys are buckled up.’ She spoke, still facing forwards and adjusting her headset. “Don’t want to lose our ‘best fighter’” You knew that was directed at you, which would explain the heat that rushed to your cheeks.
You had no idea what was coming, but if she was involved, you knew it was going to be fun.
__________________________________
“This is not fun! I’m not enjoying this anymore!”
“Don’t worry Miss Potts, i’m on my way” Your teammate, Thor spoke through the comms.
“You have a flying hammer, please can you be here a little faster?” You huffed, trying to fight off the huge crowd of aliens that had gathered around you. Before you knew it, there was a loud crackling sound followed by white/blue light that made the entire crowd fall to the ground.
“Y/N?  You okay? Anyone got eyes on Y/N?” A rushed voice came through which you easily recognised as your girlfriend of ten months.
“Nat, I’m okay, Thor did his cool lightning trick and I'm no longer at risk of death by aliens.”
“That’d be a cool way to die.” Another voice came through. One you hadn’t planned on hearing again, but, it’s funny how life just happens, isn’t it?
“Right well I'll keep that in mind next time, maybe I’ll just let them attack me for you to have a ‘cool’ story to tell at one of your parties shall I stark?”
“Guys-”
“That’s not what I meant” He replied, the blasts from his suit being heard in the background.
“I’m sure you didn’t. You seem to say that a lot.”
“Guys! We’re clear on this end. Can everyone on the field do a ground check to grab any stragglers?” Natasha chimed in again, all too familiar with the arguments that you and Tony have on these team missions.
Things were okay in the beginning, the missions you went on often did not require the entire team, it was usually you and Natasha, occasionally Steve joined, but he had recently been occupied with training and fighting with his new friend, Sam Wilson. So it had gone back to you and Natasha, except this one. This was a large fight, so we needed all hands on deck. It wasn’t your first time fighting alongside dear old dad, but it never made it any easier.
You tried to cover it up with quips and indirect comments that he knew were aimed towards him, but the hurt you felt as a child hadn’t changed. It still felt as painful now as it did back then. You tried to find some comfort in knowing that his suits were being used to protect and fight evil, surely that made it worth it? But you couldn’t help but feel that it only made it worse. He was still all about his suits. He hadn’t made an effort for all these years, but he’d managed to upgrade his tech and battle enemies and gain the title of ‘Avenger.’
All of that, and he never had time for his child.
“All clear.”
“We’re clear up here too.” Barton responded to Steve.
“Right guys, we’re good. Everyone come back to the quinjet and we’ll get home.”
Home. They mean Stark Tower. The furthest thing from home from where you were standing. But weren’t about to make that comment. You were too tired. All you wanted was to climb into your clean bed, with clean pyjamas and cuddle up to your girlfriend.
You flew back in silence as usual, everyone just needing a breather to recover from the intense mission. You normally found some peace in the silence, but today, it only seemed to bring more noise than ever. You always tried to avoid walking down memory lane, that’s why you often enjoyed the missions, it never left you any time to be alone with your thoughts.
You liked being part of a team, you liked being part of something big. But, you couldn’t help but feel a little out of place. There wasn’t an obvious reason for it, you were just as good a fighter, you got along with mostly everyone, things should be fine.
Except Tony.
Natasha had tried to help you settle in, you didn’t tell her much about your relationship with your father, but she knew that it wasn’t good. She knew that it had some long term effects on you and how you responded to others, mainly when they showed affection.
Anytime Nat would compliment your appearance, you’d simply refuse to accept it, or if she tried to do things for you, be there for you, you’d shut her out. It was like you couldn’t fathom that someone cared for you. She told you all the time that you were her favourite person and that she loves you more than anything, and all you could say was “Isn’t that Clint? Or Yelena?”. You always thought there was someone else, and it broke her heart that you didn’t feel you could trust her word. For the most part, she understood, but the sting would still be there.
She’d been sitting across from you in the jet, her eyes never leaving your figure, noticing how you’d isolated yourself from everyone else, your mind clearly elsewhere, and not in a ‘unwind from the stress’ sort of way. If anything, you looked more stressed now than before.
So, she decided that she couldn’t just observe from a distance anymore, and made her way over to the seat next to you. Everyone else had sat towards the front of the jet, but you and Natasha stayed towards the back, it was quieter that way. You saw a shadow sit themselves down beside you in the corner of your eye, smiling when you saw who it was.
“Hi sweetheart” Natasha spoke quietly
“Hey Nat. Everything okay?”
“Of course, I just wanted to sit with my girl. That okay?”
“More than.” You replied, shuffling closer to lean your head on her shoulder, her hand immediately went to your head, starting to play with your Y/H/C hair.
Natasha treasured these moments, she knew they weren’t common, so when they did happen, she felt calm, like everything was alright and always would be.
“What’s going on in that head of yours?”
“Well my brain cells are constantly dying and creating new ones if that counts?”
Natasha laughed slightly, she knew you were big on the sarcasm, but she loved it nonetheless.
“Well, yes, you nerd, but I was referring to any thoughts you might have kicking around in there too”
You sighed, internally debating if you wanted to get into this conversation or not, deep down you knew that you probably had to tell someone, and realistically, who else would you speak to? Natasha really is the best person to tell, and probably the one who needs to know the most.
“I’m just finding it difficult.”
“What’s difficult, my love?”
“This whole situation, being on the same team as my dad, which is weird to even say.”
She hummed, acknowledging that she’d heard you, just letting you continue at your own pace. So, readjusting your seating position, but still staying close to Nat, you carried on.
“Growing up was tough, which sounds silly. When you hear ‘daughter of a billionaire’, you kind of imagine this perfect life, don’t you? You think that they must have everything, they’re never left wanting more, the world all loves them, right? Well, I didn’t care if the world loved me. I just wanted to feel like Tony did. Like my father did. I knew that Happy did, I knew that my mother did, God, I even knew that the guests at his exclusive parties were a fan of me. I wanted a dad, and I got someone who just wanted me to stay out of the way.”
Everything was coming out now, once you started, you couldn’t stop. You would’ve, if you’d known that the man you were talking about could hear you from a few seats in front, and he was paying more attention to this one conversation than he’d given you for the majority of your life.
Natasha pondered over what you’d said, her heart breaking for you. She knew you’d had a tough time, but she wasn’t aware of quite how bad it really was. She was determined to find some good, or see if you’d experienced any silver lining amongst the darkness.
“Can I ask you a question?”
You nodded, the lump in your throat becoming slightly too much to verbally respond.
“What’s your happiest memory with him? Do you have one that stands out at all?”
You couldn’t lie, you were slightly thrown off by the question, you hadn’t allowed yourself to humour the thought that there was some good in there. But, for the purpose of the question, you did. You racked your brain, going back to every moment spent with your dad.
“I think there was one.”
“Oh right? You don’t have to tell me if-”
“No, no it’s okay. I want to tell you. It wasn’t a huge moment with tear-jerking confessions or anything, but I do remember one day when I must’ve been around twelve? Twelve or thirteen, something like that. I’d finished all my homework, I’d tried to entertain myself with everything that was remotely fun, but I was super bored anyways. So, I looked for someone to talk to, and I ended up going downstairs to my dad’s tech lab, where he works on his suits and gadgets. I remember watching all the machines moving at once, there were holograms, blueprints were everywhere, it was a mess, but I loved it. Dad saw me looking, and I expected to be told to go back upstairs, but he invited me in instead. We ended up spending the afternoon working on upgrading his suit so that it was perfect.”
You paused, smiling when you remembered it, you were so happy in that moment, you felt so important and smart, like you’d finally connected with your father. What you didn’t see was Tony smiling too, remembering how happy he was to show you the different things he knew and was working on.
“Then what happened?” Natasha asked, probably expecting some sort of ice cream and heart-to-heart conversation to happen afterwards.
“One of his employees came in, told him that they had a new piece of equipment that needed the boss’s approval, so dad said that he had something more important to tend to, so I should go and find something else to do and leave him alone to carry on what he was doing.”
Unfortunately, Tony remembers that part too. He hadn’t thought much of it at the time, but hearing you talk about it made it sound much harsher than what he would’ve intended. All he could think was, was he like that all the time?
“That’s your happiest memory?” Natasha asked.
“Well, yeah, he showed me some cool tricks and taught me some basics of mechanics, I've always remembered it. Comes in handy sometimes, y’know?”
She didn’t want to ruin this moment, this was a step forward for you, despite the memory being slightly tainted, it was better than it being completely bleak. This was something, something good. You knew that too. You felt awkward, feeling like your girlfriend was expecting something more.
“Sorry, that's all I could think of.” You apologised, suddenly finding your hands extremely interesting.
Natasha held your hands, stopping them from fidgeting harshly with the other.
“Hey.” She spoke, her tone as gentle as ever as she lifted your chin so you were looking straight at her.
“You don’t have anything to apologise for. I’m glad you told me, and it was nice to hear that you guys spent that time together. You and I both know that time is worth more than anything. It’s precious.”
“Especially when it’s a rarity, right?”
She chose not to say anything, instead deciding to just hold you. That’s what you needed, you just needed someone to be there, and Natasha was the one you wanted.
Tony felt a huge wave of shame. How could he have possibly treated you like that and been so oblivious? No wonder you cut him off, he would’ve done the same. Much like anyone else who knew about your relationship with your dad, he knew that you deserved better. He wanted to make things right, or take a step towards doing so. There’s no time like the present, right?
Well, no time like the present once the jet lands.
_________________________________________
It had been a week since your last mission with the team, things have been pretty quiet since then. It’s just been a relaxing few days with you and Nat, watching movies, eating together, falling asleep together, it’s been bliss. Bliss that’s been so overdue.
You were both lying on the sofa, your legs tangled up together, your head resting on her chest, her heartbeat making you feel the most calm you’d ever felt before.
“Hey guys.”
There goes the peace.
You both lifted your heads, facing the direction which the voice came from to see the overly familiar man in his black tracksuit bottoms and a grey shirt with the faint electric blue shining through the fabric.
You rolled your eyes, laying your head back down while Natasha furrowed her eyebrows at him in confusion.
“Y/N, do you mind if I steal you for a minute?” He asked, more polite than usual, which definitely was cause for confusion.
Still not looking at him, you replied.
“I think I'm good, thanks.”
“Please? I think you’ll like it.”
‘Why do I find that hard to believe.’ You thought.
You glanced up at Natasha, trying to gauge how she felt, and you found your answer when she subtly gestured for you to go, a sympathetic look on her face when she looked back at you. She must have an idea of what’s going on, either that, or she just wanted to know why on earth Tony Stark had said ‘please’.
“It better be good, I was comfy.” You groaned, untangling yourself from your girlfriend and following your dad through the tower.
It was quiet. He didn’t try to make conversation, though neither did you. All you could hear were your footsteps and his, perfectly in sync.
That was until they immediately ceased and you both stood in front of a door you haven’t seen before. Actually, this entire hallway was unfamiliar. How could you not recognise it? You live here.
He stepped to the side, holding his arm out, gesturing for you to go in first.
Grabbing the handle somewhat hesitantly, you pushed the door open and took a few steps inside. You weren’t really sure how you were supposed to respond.
It was a lab. A tech lab. It had tons of machines, monitors, buttons, it had everything. Of course it did, Tony always had everything, he was a tech genius.
You spun around, just looking at everything. Until you saw a small name tag on the desk that was tucked away in the corner of the room.
‘Y/N Pott’s.’
You picked it up, examining it to see if it really was what you thought it was.
You turned back around to see him standing at the door, inside the room this time.
“What- what is this?”
“This is for you. It’s a lab.”
“It looks..wow.”
“Exactly like the one you wandered down to when you were a kid?” He responded.
Your eyes went wide, what on earth was going on?
“I built this for you. It’s not nearly as extravagant as what you deserve, I wasn’t sure how to build something that’d make up for almost twenty years of being pushed aside. I don’t even think I could build that.”
You had that lump back in your throat, feeling your heart going that jumpy way that happens when you’re holding back from crying.
“You deserved a better dad. I think that’s fair to say. I swore to be a better dad than what mine was, but I ended up completely missing your life. I pushed you away until I didn’t have to push anymore. You were a good kid, an amazing kid. This isn’t going to fix everything, I don’t expect it to, but, I want to make it up to you, if you’re wanting that too. I want to create happy memories between us. I want us to be close, to be family.”
You didn’t know what to do, you didn’t expect this at all. It was a grand gesture, even if he doesn’t think it’s extravagant. This was what you’d wanted though, ever since you were five, you wanted this. And here he was, handling it to you, telling you that he’s in.
He noticed the hesitation, and he couldn’t blame you. Of course you’d hesitate, a five minute conversation wouldn’t change things.
“If I remember correctly, I think I was about to teach you how to install a voice activation system, right? So that you could have your own JARVIS?” He went over to the counter, pulling up some files that he’d pre-saved to this labs system and organising some equipment.
You sniffled, rubbing your nose and wiping your eyes, trying to collect yourself. You thought he would’ve forgotten. But he remembered more details than what you did. Was this real? Was he actually going to try with this?
You walked over to the counter beside him, picking up one of the screwdrivers he’d set out, while he picked up the drill. He smiled at you, which you couldn’t help but return. It felt exactly the same as when you were a kid.
“I am sorry, you know? I want to work on us. You should’ve come before work then, and you’re going to come before work now. I do love you, Y/N. I’ll do better with showing it. I promise.
You looked him straight in the eye, held up your pinky, and narrowed your eyes.
“You better be serious about this”
He linked his pinky with yours, leaning in closer to your face
“It’s a promise.”
You both started working, picking up where you’d left off, glancing again at the sign on the table. You weren’t sure if this would turn out the way you want it to, if he’ll stick to it, but, if you did, you may consider hyphenating your last name. Or something that’s a little less of a tongue twister for the mission comms.
You hadn’t noticed, but Natasha had been standing outside the door, just off to the side so you couldn’t see her.
Tony had approached her with his idea last week, explaining himself to her, determined for her to understand that he had good intentions and wanted to make things right. He had his ideas, but she suggested that this one would be best. She did know you best after all. Her heart warmed at the sight of you so happy in your fathers presence, especially with how tough things had been previously, you couldn’t even talk to him through an earpiece, now here you are building some tech with him.
He’d finally involved you. He’d finally shown you that he does care, he didn’t think you were a burden.
Natasha was happy for you, and she walked back to your shared room, not making a sound so not to disturb the nice moment you and Tony were having.
She dug through some brown boxes shoved at the back of your cupboard, pulling out an old dusty picture in a black box frame of you, Tony and Pepper together. It was candid, which made it that much better. Happy must’ve taken it, but all three of you sat together eating ice cream on the sofa, you were giggling in Tony’s direction while Pepper admired you both.
This is what the end goal was. This is what she wanted to see. And she was going to be there every step of the way. So, she put the photo back, right next to the tiny black box that she’d kept hidden under a bunch of scarves.
Who knows, maybe you’ll end up having a father/daughter dance at your wedding, a dream finally come true.

Bucky
Bucky was in an impossible position. His career had always been the most important thing to him, that was why he hadn’t had a relationship in nearly six years. It was the only thing he had ever focused on, always telling himself that everything else can wait. There had never been a point where he’d ever questioned his priority before. But now? Now he had a problem.
He couldn’t stop thinking about her. The girl that had fallen into his lap when he had least expected it. The way that their encounter had occurred, the way that the coincidences seemed to simply pile up, made him think that it was something more. He felt drawn to her in a way that he’d never had with any other girl before. Her words spoken in the bar that very first night played on a loop in his brain during his waking hours, and the sight of her face as he brought her to finish on his tongue haunted his dreams each night.
He tried not to think about her, tried to avoid her. He kept himself distracted with work, with his colleagues, but every time he received a piece of work with her name written at the top in curled cursive letters, his mind snapped back to those memories.
He really was in trouble, but not in the way that he had originally thought. Not because there was the chance of them getting caught, but instead because he actually wanted to get to know her. Because he could see himself reading late at night with her cuddled up to his side. Because he could imagine waking her up in the morning with a kiss, making pancakes for her whilst she sat on the counter beside him with a cup of coffee, wearing his t-shirt from the night before.
It made no sense; he barely knew this girl. Sure, they’d had two incredible moments of intimacy together, moments that he would cherish, but he didn’t really know anything about her, besides the fact that she liked to read and that she wanted to be a writer some day. How could he possibly be feeling something for her already, even if it was miniscule.
“James.” The voice pulled Bucky out of his thoughts, and as he glanced up from his morning coffee he found Rhodey, one of the professors that worked under him in the English Department, taking a seat at the table that Bucky had found himself at during his lunch break.
“Rhodey,” he smiled. “Sorry, I was in my own little world there. What can I help you with?”
“Well, I wanted to talk to you about something,” Rhodey explained. “Do you have a student named Y/N?”
Tumblr media
Y/N
Days passed by, which quickly turned into weeks. You found yourself getting into the swing of college, the nerves that you had felt upon first arriving now long gone. You had finally met all of your roommates, from the quiet and slightly moody MJ who was studying Biology, eccentric and slightly clumsy Kate who was studying Art, and finally Shuri, who had an incredible mind according to her professor, Professor Stark, Head of Physics.
Ever since that moment in Bucky’s office so many weeks ago you had kept your distance from him. You often found yourself sitting at the very back of the lecture hall for your three lectures per week, hid behind your laptop refusing to make eye contact, and went to Professor Rhodes, another professor in the English department if you had any questions about the material. Whilst Professor Rhodes seemed rather confused as to why you would go to him and not your own professor, he was always happy to help.
You were doing well in your classes, and had become close with Yelena and Wanda, who still remained your favourite people on campus. You did everything that you could to distract yourself from him, but nothing seemed to quell the aching that you had for him. It was like nothing you had experienced for a man before, and there ultimately seemed to be no stopping it.
When you had seen him in line at a coffee shop near campus one afternoon you had rushed out of the door without him even seeing you, trying desperately to swallow down the butterflies in the pit of your stomach. You’d caught him one morning outside of the lecture hall laughing happily with a red-headed professor, one that you recognized from Kate’s course brochure as the head of the Art department, Professor Romanoff. He had his head swung back in raucous laughter at something she had said, and you couldn’t ignore the pang of jealousy that rang through your chest at the sight. You had rushed home and emailed in sick that day.
No problem, Y/N. Are you ok? Do you need anything? Let me know - Bucky.
That had been the only correspondence you’d had with him since that day in his office. He had signed it Bucky, an email from his work address, and a small moment of panic came to you, but passed quickly when you double checked and realised that he had replied from his personal account instead.
Around three days after that you found yourself in the school library. Professor Rhodes had suggested the day before that an extracurricular analysis of one of your favourite books was a great way to hone your skills, so you had taken his advice and begun work on it. He had advised handing it into ‘Professor Barnes’ for extra credit but you couldn’t bear the thought of having to speak to him face-to-face again, even if you knew that it would happen eventually.
‘To the Lighthouse’ is Woolf’s most autobiographical work of fiction, drawing on her own childhood and family experiences in the 1890s and early 1900s.
You wrote quickly and carefully, your fingers running over the keys of your laptop as if it were muscle memory. ‘To the Lighthouse’ your favourite book, the copy on the table beside you the same one you’d had since a child, filled with annotations and highlights.
Note that the title, ‘To the Lighthouse’ could suggest a journey steadily progressing towards an end goal, but what the novel actually gives us is a narrative in which that journey ‘to the lighthouse’ is delayed until the end of the novel.
You took a sip of your tea, still hot from the shop on the corner of campus, checking back to the book to compare your notes to your analysis. It was dark in the library, late in the evening, and quiet, with few students still there studying due to the lateness of the hour. But this was where you were happiest, the most at peace.
In the final section, pointedly titled ‘The Lighthouse’, the preposition is dropped, but has the trip to the lighthouse really been achieved? It has, with the lighthouse simply resembling the goals that the children have for the future, not a tangible lighthouse to visit.
“Still working so late?”
It was a familiar voice that pulled you away from your work, away from the words of Virginia Woolf and back to reality. You swallowed but your throat was already dry from the thought of seeing him. Slowly you turned, coming face-to-face with Bucky. He was wearing a button-up shirt under a dark-blue blazer, a laptop bag draped over his shoulder, a pile of papers in his arms. He looked good - he always did.
“Just some extracurricular work,” you explained with a shrug. “Someone told me that it would be a good way to keep myself on track with my work, and maybe get some extra credit while I’m at it.”
He took a step forward, bringing a hand up to scratch at the back of his neck. “Would that someone be Professor Rhodes?”
He slowly moved forward again until he was standing beside you by the desk.
“How did you know about that?” You asked slowly, your thumbs fiddling with each other in your lap awkwardly, nervously.
“We work in the same department, Y/N. You think he wouldn’t tell me that one of my students has been going to him for advice instead of me?” He pointed out, and you had to admit it made a lot of sense. You opened your mouth to speak, but Bucky beat you to it. “I get it, I really do. And if that’s what you have to do to feel more…comfortable, then I’m ok with that.”
You frowned, taking in the words that he had just said, letting their meaning sink in. He thought that you were more comfortable around Professor Rhodes because of everything that had transpired between you and Bucky.
“You think you make me uncomfortable?” You asked slowly, looking up at him. He shuffled awkwardly before finally perching on the seat beside you, planting down the pile of papers in his hand on the desk.
“T-That’s not what I meant,” he stuttered. “But I would understand if you did.”
A light laugh echoed around the library, quickly followed by a ‘shush’ from the librarian at the front desk. Bucky looked at you with a deep frown, clearly thinking you were completely mad.
“I don’t feel uncomfortable around you Bucky,” you explained. You lowered your voice slightly for fear of being overheard, moving closer to him as you spoke. “I was just worried about you getting in trouble.”
It was Bucky’s turn to laugh, a beaming smile on his face. It was nice, knowing that his smile was because of you, not some red-headed professor. “You don’t need to worry about me, doll,” he beamed. “I can look after myself. Now, let me have a look at this analysis you’re working on.”
The two of you sat there for the next few hours, Bucky reading over your shoulder as you wrote, pointing out errors or sentences that he thought could be expanded on. Your mind drifted back to the very first day of your course, his very first rule.
“One: I am here to support you, not do your work for you. I will not push you to the right answer. If you don’t know the answer, listen and study.”
It didn’t seem as though he was following his own rule as the two of you sat in that library. He was giving you hints, edging you in the right direction, even leaning over your shoulder to rewrite an entire sentence for you, which you were certain was completely against the rules that he had created for his class. But you didn’t care. He was with you again, even if it was in an academic sense. You could smell his scent once more, now close enough for it to engulf you again, the paper, the ink, the sandalwood, tobacco, leather, the vanilla, each one filling your nostrils, almost making you forget about the paper entirely. He placed a hand on the small of your back, leaning closer as he discussed a comparison paragraph between two characters, and you could help but clench your thighs at the contact. What you didn’t realise was that Bucky had noticed it, and a small smirk began to play at his lips.
“Out of curiosity,” he said suddenly after a few hours, leaning forward in his seat and leaning against the desk, placing a hand on the cover of your novel. “Why did you choose ‘To the Lighthouse’?”
“I first read it back in middle school, and I found it fascinating how it completely steered away from all of the literature that I’d read before from the same era,” you explained with a shrug. “Woolf used her own personal memories to create a story that is so intimate and poetic, and I just thought that was incredible.”
Bucky nodded slowly, his eyebrows raised in thought. “That’s a very analytic take on it,” he said, looking at you pointedly. “But what is the personal connection?”
“What do you mean?” You asked, leaning back in your chair and taking a sip of your tea, now cold.
“From experience, when someone has a favourite book, it’s usually because there is some kind of personal connection,” he urged. “Something that makes that story, that book, so important to the person. So what’s yours?”
You paused, shooting him a small smile before looking down at the cup in your hands. “Do you really want to know?” You asked quietly, and from the corner of your eye you saw him nod firmly. “That copy there was my grandma’s. It was her favourite book when I was growing up, and she always talked about it. I never read it, but after she died I found her copy.”
You spared a glance in his direction, but he didn’t speak, sitting patiently waiting for you to continue.
“It was filled with annotations that she’d made, and when I read it for the first time, it brought back so many memories,” you explained. “Every time I reached a part that she had talked about, or a paragraph that she had quoted, it felt as though she was with me at that moment. I began adding my own annotations to the same copy, started re-reading it over and over again to get that feeling back. After a while, it simply became my go-to book, the one that I always pick over anything else.”
You looked over at him when you had finished and found that he was smiling at you. It was a soft smile, understanding and perhaps a little sympathetic, and it made those butterflies in your stomach flutter to life once more. You wanted to pull him towards you, to kiss him and tell him how difficult it was to stay away from him. But you knew that you couldn’t - it was too risky.
“You know, this is my favourite book too,” he said eventually, lifting up your copy and flicking through the pages carefully. “It was the very first book that I ever studied, the one that made me find my passion for English and for writing. I owe my entire career to this book.”
You’d never had a conversation like this with him before, but you found that you were actually enjoying it. It was nice to know that he was someone outside of your professor, that you had so much in common with him.
“Looks like I picked a good book to analyse then,” you smiled, turning back to your laptop, trying to push away the smile that was threatening to spread across your face.
He leans forward to look over your shoulder once more, but this time it’s not the small of your back that his hand goes to. Instead, it finds its way to your thigh, squeezing gently at the flesh there as if asking if it was ok. Slowly you dipped your hand under the table, glancing over your shoulder to make sure no one was looking, interlacing your fingers with yours.
He leaned in close to you, his voice low, his cheek brushing against your shoulder.
“You’re dangerous,” he whispered. “You have no idea what you do to me. I can’t stop thinking about you.”
Turning your head slightly you realised just how close you were, close enough that you could smell the coffee on his breath, and if you moved forward even just a few centimetres your lips would be connected.
“If I’m dangerous,” you whispered back, blinking at him slowly. “Then you’re irresistible.”
He twirled his hand around in yours, playing with your fingers, glancing down at your hand intertwined with his before glancing back up at you. You knew what was running through his mind - it was running through yours as well. You nodded, and he smiled back at you, rising to his feet, his hand never leaving yours as he led you away from the desk, leaving your computer and papers behind. He let go of your hand for only a second as you passed by the front desk, with him calling a ‘hello Maria’ to the librarian, before grabbing it again as soon as the pair of you were out of sight. He led you to the corner of the room and up the metal spiral staircase in the corner, one that was rarely used, leading to the section for the older books.
“No one comes up here, don’t worry,” he explained as he pulled you down a corridor, finally finding an aisle to his satisfaction and pulling you down it.
Within a moment he had slammed you against the bookcase, his lips crushing against yours, his hands sliding down to your thighs to help hoist you into the air, your legs wrapping around his waist as if it were habit.
You both knew that you didn’t have long, and so as your hands trailed down to his belt buckle, he did the same, undoing the button of your jeans and hoisting them down your thighs as you pulled his suit pants down to his knees. He was inside you within an instant, and you both groaned at the sensation of being connected once again, his forehead falling to rest on your shoulder as your hand reached out to grab onto the shelves beside you for support.
He began to thrust upwards, rough and quick, his hips snapping against yours in perfect rhythm. His hand tugged at your hair, revealing your throat to him, and he took it upon himself to latch his lips onto the skin just below your jaw, sucking and biting, before kissing it sweetly to null the pain.
“Tell me why I can’t stay away from you?” He mumbled against your skin. “Why can’t I stop thinking about you?”
“Me too, Bucky,” you whispered, gasping as he readjusted your hips, meaning that he hit your spot perfectly. “T-Think about you all the time.”
His thrusts became faster, messier. The bookcase rattled behind you, books falling from the shelves with each movement, but neither of you cared. You were simply chasing your highs, edging closer and closer to the fall. You wanted to fall with him, to feel him finish with you, at the same time. You slid your hand down his arm, finding his hand on your thigh, tangling your fingers with his, sweaty hands clasped together as you got closer and closer to ecstasy together.
“Stay with me tonight.” It wasn’t a request or a question, it was a command. He was telling you that you were staying with him even if you didn’t want to. Little did he know that was exactly what you wanted. You wanted to fall asleep on his chest, your skin sticking together, his spend dripping out of you onto his sheets.
The coil in your stomach snapped at the thought, and you leant forward, your teeth digging into his shoulder slightly as you tried desperately to swallow your screams from the bliss that took over your entire body., causing him to hiss at the slight pain. He finished at the same time, just as you had hoped for, the hot seed filling you up, certain to be dripping down your legs on the way back downstairs. He cursed, mumbling your name against your shoulder as he finished, his hips slowing to a stop. You were able to see his face this time, his lips parted slightly, eyes closed as if he were seeing heaven itself. You had never seen a sight more perfect.
The pair of you stayed like that for a moment simply catching your breaths before he finally pulled away, helping you down from your perch on the bookshelf.
“Did you really mean it?” You asked, buttoning up your jeans and looking back over to him as he tucked his shirt back into his trousers.
“What?” He asked with a frown, satisfied with his shirt, and moving on to wipe the fog from his glasses on his sleeve.
“When you asked me to stay with you tonight,” you explained slowly. It was very possible that he had simply said it in the heat of the moment, passion providing clouded judgement. But he paused, looking at you as if you had just said something idiotic.
“Of course I meant it.” He moved closer, placing his hands on your arms, and you took his glasses from him, slowly sliding them back onto his nose with a smile as he looked down at you. “I meant everything that I said. I can’t stop thinking about you. It’s really becoming a problem.”
“So first I’m dangerous, and now I’m a problem,” you laughed, sliding your hands around his neck as he slipped his own around your waist. “I don’t know if I should be insulted, professor.”
Bucky groaned, his eyes squinting and his mouth curling into a smirk, and you raised your eyebrow at the view. “So, you like it when I call you professor, do you?” You asked, wearing a matching smirk. “I’ll have to remember that.”
You reached up onto your tiptoes, and planted a sweet and tender kiss to his lips, before the pair of you made your way back down the staircase, hand-in-hand.

**************
You stared at Sam from your spot leaning on your bar. “Say something.” “Why? Why do you want to give me the shield?” “Because you're his child, Y/N. It should belong to you.” You shook your head, “No, Sam, he gave it to you. It’s yours.” “Yes, which is why I am now giving it to you. If it’s mine I can do what I want with it.”
You rubbed your face, “Sam, I can’t take up the mantle. Dad wanted you to take it over, and I agree with him.” “Why can’t you take it?” “Because I'm on active duty, and the Navy is where I belong.” Sam hung his head.
“I can’t fill his shoes. This shield- it means something to so many people. Me included. But Steve gave it that meaning. I’m gonna let him down.” You sighed and pulled Sam out of his chair. “Sam, I won’t begin to understand why you feel that way. You could never let him down.” You hugged him, “He trusted you with it. And I do too. I know you’ll only do what you think is best.”
He hugged you back, sighing as he looked at the photo on your mantle in your house and the folded flag in its protective box. Sam wrapped his arms a little tighter around you before letting go.
“I’ll let you get back to getting ready. Have a good night Y/N.” He walked past you to the door. “Sam, wait!”
He stopped with his hand on the handle, “You sure you don’t want to stay? I’m sure Neil wouldn’t mind you staying for dinner.” He shook his head, “I’ve got plans tonight, but maybe some other time.” You nodded, “Okay. Call me if you need anything. Love ya Sam!” “Love you too kid!”
*************
When Sam told you that his plan was to turn the shield over to the museum for the Captain America exhibit, you weren’t happy. But you realized that this was what Sam thought was best, what he thought was right. You trusted Sam, so you supported him.
He asked you to be there at the ceremony, for support and reassurance. So, that’s what you did, with permission from your superiors of course.
Wearing your dress blues, you stood right next to Rhodey. “Lieutenant Rogers.” “Colonel Rhodes.” He sighed, “I’m not gonna lie, I’m surprised to see you here.” “Is that because I’m on active duty, or because of a more personal thing, sir?” He chuckled, “Bit of both.” You sighed, “I’m here to support Sam. I know he needs it from me. He sure as hell isn’t getting it from Bucky.”
“Has he even talked to Bucky since the funeral?” You shook your head, “I don’t think so.” “Have you?” “I’ve tried. I’m not sure he wants to talk to me.” Rhodey just nodded.
Sam stepped up to the podium, “Steve represented the best in all of us. Courageous, righteous, hopeful. And he mastered posing stoically.” The crowd chuckled. “The world has been forever changed. A few months ago, billions of people reappeared after five years away, sending the world into turmoil.”
Sam paused and tears burned the backs of your eyes. “We need new heroes. Ones suited for the times we’re in.” He looked at you and you gave him a reassuring smile.
“Symbols… are nothing without the men and women that give them meaning,” he nodded down to the shield. “And this thing,” he chuckled fondly and picked it up. “I don’t know if there’s ever been a greater symbol. But it’s more about the man who propped it up, and he’s gone.”
You exhaled shakily and looked down, your standard bun not allowing your hair to cover your face.
Sam looked at you before continuing, “So, today we honor Steve’s legacy. But also, we look to the future.” You looked up and made eye contact with Sam, him giving you a small smile; almost as if to say, You’re his legacy and you are the future.
He looked at the banner behind him. “So, thank you, Captain America. But this belongs to you…” You walked up to be beside Sam as they placed the shield in its display case. Cameras flashing everywhere. You both clinched your jaws.
To him, this was to honor Steve. But to you, this was like you were truly putting him to rest, and you really didn’t know how to feel.
Afterwards you, Rhodey, and Sam were talking with some government official (that’s literally what the IMDb says). “Thanks again for comin’ forward with the shield, Sam. It was the right decision.” They shook hands and he walked away, nodding to you as he left.
Your phone rang, “I’m sorry, I need to take this.” Both nodded and watched you walk away. “This is Lieutenant Rogers.” Out of the corner of your eye you saw Rhodey and Sam walk away.
“Star, I know you’re taking care of something personal, but I need you back on base as soon as possible.” You nodded, “Yes, sir. It should take me about four hours to get back.” “That’s alright, just get here.” “Yes sir.” You hung up and went to find Sam and Rhodey.
You walked into the exhibit, running into Rhodey making his way out. He noticed the rush you were in. “You get orders?” “Yeah. I need to be back on base as soon as possible.” He nodded, “He’s back there.” You followed his hand, seeing Sam by the shield display. “Thank you.”
You moved past Rhodey. “Hey, Star?” You straightened and turned around. “Whatever it is, give ‘em hell alright?” You nodded, “Of course, sir.” You saluted each other before you moved to Sam.
When you came up beside him, he spoke first.
“Thank you for being here, Y/N. I know this wasn’t what you were expecting me to do,” Sam said with his head hung between his shoulders. “I don’t think anyone was expecting it honestly.” He looked back up, looking at you before moving his eyes to the exhibit.
You sighed, swallowing the lump in your throat, “I’m needed back on base. I’ve gotta go.” Sam nodded and looked down at you, “You better get going, it’s a four hour drive.” You nodded as well and hugged Sam.
“Call me if you need anything,” he said once he pulled away, patting your shoulder. “Always do. Tell Sarah and the kids ‘hi’ for me okay?” “Of course.”
When you got back to base, you changed before meeting with your commanding officer, seeing Omaha and his WSO, Halo, there as well.
Once you were allowed in you stood at attention in front of his desk. “Sir, may I ask why you needed me back so urgently?” “You’ve all been called back to TOPGUN.” You looked down at him in surprise before looking at the two next to you. “Sir?” “I wasn’t informed of why, but you along with 10 others were called back. You’re due to report in two weeks to North Island.” You nodded, “Yes sir.”
Since you had moved to North Island after graduating TOPGUN five years ago, you and your boyfriend were allowed to move in early, to get a feel for the island again.
*******
A few days into your stay at the North Island you were watching TV while Omaha had gone to get groceries.
You had finished your beer and were getting up to get a new one, when a news broadcast took over the rerun you were watching.
“Unrest, in the wake of recent events, has left us vulnerable. Everyday Americans feel it. While we love heroes who put their lives on the line to defend Earth, we also need a hero to defend this country. We need a real person who embodies America’s greatest values. We need someone to inspire us again, someone who can be a symbol for all of us.” The man said.
You recognized him as the guy who was talking to Sam after his speech.
“So, on behalf of the Department of Defense and our Commander-in-Chief, it is with great honor that we announce here today that the United States of America has a new hero. Join me in welcoming your new Captain America!”
Your throat dried up as some guy walked out, carrying your father’s shield like it was a damn trophy. Your heart ripped in half. You could already tell this guy was bad news and when he winked at the camera, you nearly threw up.
Tears filled your eyes as you stared at the screen, even though it no longer portrayed the imposter.
You gasped when the bottle shattered in your hand, not even registering how hard you were holding it.
Robotically, you moved to the bathroom, cradling your hand to keep blood off the floor. Then moved routinely as you grabbed what you needed from the drawers and cabinets.
*********
When Neil came home he didn’t expect to see a shattered bottle followed by little droplets of blood on the living room floor and your phone ringing.
But he didn’t panic, instead he set the grocery bags down and went to your phone, seeing “Bird Boy” displayed as the caller ID. He just let it ring as he followed the little droplets to the closed bathroom door.
He looked down at your phone before knocking and saw Sam had called you a lot.
“Baby?” He knocked softly. “Y/N, are you okay? What happened?” When he was met with silence he tried the handle, finding it unlocked. “I’m coming in.” Omaha pushed the door open slowly.
You were sitting on the closed toilet seat with a cut up hand and your other hand slightly shaking with tweezers in it as a small pool of blood was gathering at your feet.
He squatted in front of you, “Doll? You with me?” He wasn’t sure what was going on, maybe you got hit with a bad flashback. But your nod told him it was something else.
He slowly took the tweezers from you, “Wanna tell me what happened?” You inhaled and clenched your jaw as he wiggled a bigger piece of glass out of your hand. “You don’t have to hide it from me…”
As you exhaled, a small sob escaped your throat, “They gave it to someone, Neil. They fucking replaced him, with some Wal-Mart looking asshole.” Omaha clenched his own jaw and exhaled, “I guess that’s why Sam has been trying to get ahold of you.” You nodded, wincing a little as he pulled out some more shards before disinfecting the cuts.
Your phone rang again, but he moved it out of your reach, “After we patch you up. Talk to me about how you feel.” You swallowed, “I want to go UA just to kick this guy’s ass, but I have to focus on this mission, whatever it is. I need to carry on the legacy of Captain America, shield or no shield.”
Omaha smiled and pressed a kiss to your now bandaged hand. “Plus, it’s not like the government cares what I have to say on the matter anyway,” you dryly chuckled, flexing your hand.
He pulled you off the toilet and into a hug, “That’s my girl.” You hummed and kissed his chest, where his dog tags were. “No, but seriously the guy looked like Carl from Up, I swear.” Omaha threw his head back and laughed, “Okay, come on now. How does steak sound?” “With your mom’s corn?” He kissed your nose, “Whatever you want, Star-light.” You giggled and kissed his lips.
Your phone ringing again made you pull away. “I should probably answer him before he flies up here.” Neil nodded, “I’ll get started.” He left to the kitchen and you took your phone to the back porch.
You answered the phone, “Sa-” “Did you see the news?” You sighed, “Yeah, I sure did Sam.” “God, I swear had I known they were gonna do that I would have never-” “Sam, Sam, I know. I know,” you cut him off. “Had I known they were gonna give it to someone I wouldn’t have let you. But Sam, I need you to be honest with me...” “Of course.” “I can’t be involved with this, not until this mission is over. Will you make sure this asshole doesn’t ruin my father’s image? Ruin his legacy?” “You have my word.” You nodded, “Good, good. I’ve gotta go, talk to you later.”
********** *1 Week Later*
Checking to make sure you had everything, you threw on your dad’s aviators and threw your hair into a ponytail. Getting the keys, you got on your bike and sped to the Hard Deck to meet your fellow pilots and boyfriend.
Walking in while sliding your sunglasses on your head, everyone right by the door turned and smiled at you, greeting you as you walked by. And of course you said ‘hello’ back but made minimal conversation as you went to the bar. You didn’t make a big deal out of your presence just yet and just looked around.
“Y/N Rogers, to what do I owe the pleasure?” You turned and smiled at Penny, “Hi Penny.” “Are you here for the same reason they’re here?” You nodded, “Yes ma’am.” She nodded, gesturing over her shoulder with her thumb, “Want the usual?” “Yes, please.” She nodded and went to get you an Angry Orchard.
Sure, the serum allowed you to hold your alcohol, you just preferred the cider.
When she came back she smiled, “Hey, don’t worry about this one. It’s on him. I’ll start yours on the next one.” You followed the direction she had nodded her head in, seeing a dark headed guy in a green jacket. You tilted your bottle in thanks and he gave a nod and small smile back.
You turned to the group of pilots at the pool table and decided to make your way over.
You walk over to see Hangman walk away and hear the conversation between Phoenix and Rooster. “Well, he hasn’t changed.” “Nope.” You just smirked and took a seat on the barstool by the pool table, nobody noticing you.
“Check it out,” Fanboy said as he walked over to Phoenix. “More patches.” You glanced around the pillar, seeing the group of 5 khaki clad aviators. Payback did a roll call, “That’s Harvard, Yale, Omaha… Shit, that’s Fritz.” You looked back over at the group in front of you. “What the hell kinda mission is this?” Fanboy asked.
You stood up, boots hitting the hardwood floor, “That’s not the question we should be asking.”
Everyone turned at the sound of your voice. You smirked a little and gestured to the group with the butt end of your bottle, “Everyone here is the best there is. Who the hell are they gonna get to teach us?”
“Star, that you?” You turned your head, seeing Bob, your best friend. “Robert Floyd, damn it’s good to see you.” You hugged him. “How’s Lemoore?” He shrugged giving you a small smile, “It was good when I left it. How are you holdin’ up?” Bob lowered his voice when he said that last part. You returned his previous smile, “Better than I thought I would be..”
“Well would you look at that? Thought the room looked a little brighter,” Hangman rested his arms on your shoulders and his chin on your head.
“Who’s ass you kiss to be here?” You gave Bob a smile before elbowing the Texan in the ribs. “No, Bagman it’s kick, not kiss, and I do believe you’re on the list.” He painfully chuckled, groaning as he stood up, “Still as pointy as every, Star.” You nodded, “Best believe it.” You winked before waving to Bob and going over to your boyfriend.
“Hey, Doll,” Omaha said when you walked up to him. “Hey, Baby.” He kissed the top of your head and threw his arm around you.
As you talked with Halo and Omaha, the music cut out and everyone groaned. But soon, piano notes floated into the air, their distinct sound floating over everyone’s voices.
Phoenix was the first to notice that it was Rooster at the piano and got everyone’s attention. “Hey, guys, come on.” You smiled and grabbed Neil’s hand to pull him with you.
Rooster was warming up his fingers when the bell rang. You turned and caught the same dark haired guy from before hanging his head, then everyone began chanting ‘overboard’.
Omaha winced, “Poor guy.” You chuckled and saw that Hangman, Payback, and Coyote were going over to throw him overboard.
Once he was thrown out, Rooster finally started the song.
You sang along, Neil spinning you around and laughing. “Imma tell the world that you’re mine, mine, mine!” You practically yelled in each other’s faces, but laughed before pulling each other into a kiss. You looked down and noticed that he didn’t have a drink. “Here, watch my drink, I’ll go get you one.” “You don’t have to,” he pulled you closer. “Yeah, but the bar isn’t occupied right now, it’ll only be a second.” He nodded, “Alright.”
You walked up and found Penny looking out the window. “You alright, Pen?” She blinked and nodded as she looked away from the door to you. “Uh, yeah, yeah I’m fine.”
You looked to where she was looking and saw once again the dark haired man, this time instead of smiling he looked like he wanted to puke. “Who’s that?” “Captain Pete Mitchell, or Maverick.”
Your eyes widened, “Wait, really?” Penny nodded. You looked at Pete and followed his eyes to Bradley at the piano, and you could put the pieces together. You saw your father with the same look every time he heard a song from his childhood and was reminded of Bucky.
You glanced back to see Omaha dancing with Fritz and you moved to go talk to Mav but he left before you could make it to the door. You sighed and turned back to Penny, who already had the bottle held out to you. “Thanks Pen.”
By the time you made it back over to your boyfriend, Rooster had finished the song and everyone was chanting his name.
**********
After it cooled down, you all regrouped at the pool table. “Star, I didn’t even see you come in! Holy shit, how have you been?” Rooster hugged you, rubbing your back. “Could be worse, all things considered. But how about you?” “Not too bad, not too bad at all.” You smiled and rubbed his shoulder.
He took a sip of his own drink before his brows shot up and he quickly swallowed it. “How are you and Omaha?” You smiled, a blush spreading across your face, “We’re good. We’re really good.” Bradley smiled and patted you on the back before going over to play Phoenix and Bob in a game of pool.
“Hey, Star-light,” Omaha said, and you could just hear the smile in his voice. “Hi, Baby.” “You wanna play a round of pool? Loser has to do whatever the winner says?” You hummed and raised an eyebrow, “You sure you wanna make that bet, Honey?” He hummed back, leaning down into your ear, “Win or lose, I feel it’ll be worth it.” Neil playfully nipped under your ear. “You’re on.”
