Hey people write Steve in character challenge GO
(warning long ass post ahead, character analysis turned Civil War analysis BC I'll never shut up about that movie)
Right off the bat, Steve isn't and has never been a rule follower. Steve has an extremely strong moral compass, he has the strongest feeling of right and wrong and he is going to go after the right thing even if he's told not too. This is so prevalent in ANY captain America movie.
Why he behaves so seriously would also come from how he grew up. He wasn't taken seriously ever due to his size and his health, if he wasn't loud and clear on what he thought, no one would be paying attention. But to be honest, I think the movies kinda do him wrong when showing he isn't serious outside of battle, he's always coping with some kind of fight or dilemma or stressful situation to be fixed, especially with the role of leader on his shoulders it's his job to take it seriously. On the rare occasions we do see him relaxed we can see he's just a calm and polite guy who's just maybe a little quiet in big groups. (Which would also be a product of his pre-serum days. In big groups no one's paying attention to the little guy)
I think a reason he's misconstrued as an asshole (aside from needing to be used as a plot point in a fic) is because of how he reacts in a battle. He's stern and being the leader of the group, is telling people what to do in the heat of battle. He takes problems seriously and looks at them from a very logical stand point, (again, which is his role as the leader) which is such a VAST fucking contrast from Tony who still thinks of problems from a logical stand point too but tries to find humor in every situation, even the world ending issues.
So it makes sense if you much prefer Tony's type of character, that you aren't going to like the way Steve handles problems, which is the opposite method of Tony's emotionally.
I think the first movie really enforced that divide between Tony and Steve fans with how opposing they were. And even with Age Of Ultron to clear the air, Civil War threw out all of the relationship we were supposed to believe they had.
If I'm being honest, on Marvel's behalf, I don't think they did a very good job in enforcing that Steve and Tony were good friends before Civil War. But it will always and forever be crazy to me that Tony would ever consider himself as close of a friend with Steve as Bucky is.
"I was your friend too"
He says like he was there when no one would listen to Steve, like he was there when no one took Steve seriously. Like he was there when Steve was sick all the time. Like he was there when Steve's mother died and he had no one. Like he was there for Steve when he got into fights he couldn't handle. Bucky was there since day one.
It links back to steve wishing to have someone who 'understood his experience' the ENTIRE catws movie being about how important Bucky is to Steve and Steve being willing to let Bucky KILL him to prove how much he cared. TONY AND STEVE NEVER HAD THAT CONNECTION.
And I know that's the point. I know that's the point of the movies, Bucky being the thing Steve is willing to leave the avengers for, the avengers who have been his new family in his time where he knows no one in a new world. But when I see people saying Steve betrayed Tony I just don't understand. Bucky means SO much more to Steve. And technically yes, the Avengers were all certainly helpful when he needed it, they were definitely important to him too, but they just don't compare to Bucky.
And quick side note, don't get me wrong, if someone killed my parents I'd want them dead too. It's not like I blame Tony's immediate reaction to the information but to look me in the eyes and say Tony had the right to, is ridiculous. Bucky was tortured and brainwashed and forced to kill and do what he did. That is an innocent man.

Newest episode thoughts incoming.
So I actually got to do the live listen this time, since I'm off for summer break. I'll get to do two or three more throughout July, which is exciting. But I kind of wish that I hadn't had all of the extra distractions. I usually crawl into bed at the end of my work day after dinner and listen without anything else going on.
On to the episode:
First of all, Willy controlling the other dads with the collars is still blowing my mind. It makes sense that he would mimic that from season 1, but it also feels a little bit out of nowhere. We haven't seen or heard from the kiddads since "The Staircase", so it feels a bit out of left field.
And boy do I want to hear that fight and know more about how that went down. Willy overpowered all four of them? I mean, sure, he's a powerful dude, but it still blows me away.
After the opening and understanding that Terry Jr is being controlled, there's mostly just a lot of planning of how they're going to get into this other building with the Papa John people (why are they back??? They weren't in the city before - what the heck is the anchor that's in there???) before we get to the crazy ending that has my brain reeling.
It's a bit of a crazy plan, and it doesn't go well. At the end of all of this, they still haven't gotten into the place they need to get, Grant has killed Terry, and the party is split. Taylor, normal, and Link are all on the ground, and Hermie and Terri are still on the roof. And the Black Parade, which had decided that Terry was their leader, is now leaderless again.
And what was Nick doing this whole time??? Hopefully some awesome subterfuge that helps them all out next time.
The last time somebody (Tony Pepperoni) died on the show, they did a time jump. We can't do that here. (Please don't do that here). That means these teens just don't get any time to process what they just witnessed. Heck, technically the boys on the ground didn't see anything. They just would have heard the gunshot.
While there is a big part of me that wants Normal to cast Revivify, one, he can't exactly do that from his position on the ground, and two, I do kind of want this death to matter narratively. It feels like if he were to cast it, the death would have no weight. I guess that's a problem with the rules of D&D in general.
I don't know where this is headed, and I don't know how they're going to get the next anchor. This one should be the last one, right? Does that mean we're in the end game? Numbers-wise, if they were planning for this season to be as long as the first, we'd only be about halfway there.
Is Willy going to see Terri as she is right now? He still didn't want Terry Jr (or the other dads, presumably) to hurt her. Huh. That's making me realize a couple of things: 1. Willy knows that she didn't actually kill the other teens. Otherwise, how would he know to tell the kiddads to shoot them? So, 2. That means he knows that Scary lied to him and still doesn't want to hurt her. He needs her for something. I've been assuming that he plans to sacrifice her (or some equivalent), so my guess is that explains why he wouldn't be upset by her betrayal.
This episode has truly blown my mind. So many twists and turns with this one. I am excited to see what happens next.

Thoughts on AEW World's End
Finally got around to watching this. It was pretty fun.
Zero Hour
Willow Nightingale vs Kris Statlander
It was fun. Willow is one of my favorites in the women's roster of AEW. There weren't any real stakes, which was fine. Having Stokely Hathaway on commentary was definitely a plus, since he's hilarious. It was just great to see two good wrestlers having a good wrestling match. I would have been fine with either of them winning, but I'm glad Willow won.
TNT Title Battle Royal Thing
It was your standard battle royal, really. Had some entertaining moments. I'm a fan of Lance Archer, so it was great seeing him. And Danhausen. I would have liked the final two to be Dino-Kane vs Archer, but it is what it is. Nothing special.
Wheeler Yuta vs Hook (c), FTW Title, FTW Rules
Yuta is absolutely perfect as being this snotty little piece of shit that's clearly good at wrestling, but not as good as he thinks he is. Hook has definitely come a long way in his wrestling since he started. I enjoyed it. I love listening to Taz consistently just sound so damn proud of Hook. It adds so much flavor to the match. Decent match overall. Nothing particularly special, but it was fun watching Yuta get the shit kicked out of him.
World's End
Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia, Mark Brisco vs Brody King, Jay White, Jay Lethal, Rush
Mark Brisco is one of the most endearing, and one of the silliest, people in AEW. I assume that it was at least partially his request, but it's so sweet (and so sad) that the entrance screens still reference his brother everywhere.
Brody King will always terrify me.
Rush is unfairly cool.
Jay White is one of my favorite wrestlers. I love how he flips between being this cocky asshole to a sniveling piece of shit during matches. I also like how always looks like he's about to collapse after seemingly after match. It adds a lot for me.
I liked this one. It had a lot of people who I'm pretty glad to see on my screens. Having Daddy Magic on commentary is always innerdaining. Genuinely happy to see Garcia actually get the pin, since he's someone who I definitely wanted to get further in the CC. I wouldn't mind seeing him get the ROH Pure title off of Yuta in 2024. Miro vs Andrade el Idolo
Miro and Andrade were two of the reasons I watched Collision. I really enjoyed Andrade's character when he debuted, and Miro is just very good at being an incredibly intense dude who I believe would try to kill God. Andrade's AEW theme is also just one of my favorite wrestling themes.
Since I had read before watching this that Andrade's contact was up, I expected him to lose. The match was decent. They're both good wrestlers, but it wasn't anything that blew me away. Miro winning makes sense, though I still don't fully understand where the Miro/CJ arc is going (I assume I've missed something)
Riho vs Toni Storm (c), AEW Women's World Title
Toni Storm doing this unhinged 1950s, Sunset Boulevard thing has been fantastic. She's great in the ring, too. Solid match with nothing particular exciting going on about it. While Toni did win this one, I would like to see her lose the belt sometime soonish, because I do want to see where they would take the character. If Mercedes shows up in AEW, I wouldn't be opposed to Toni losing to her. But that's also just my bias.
Swerve Strickland vs Dustin Rhodes
I love Swerve. He's absolutely one of my favorite active wrestlers. I've wanted a belt on him for ages. He's also so absurdly popular that I'm pretty sure he could actually kill someone in the ring and the audience would be chanting "WHOSE HOUSE? SWERVE'S HOUSE!" during the murder.
Sucks that Keith Lee couldn't be cleared because of whatever injury has been nagging him since 2022.
For a match with, ultimately, no real build, it was pretty good. Dustin is by no means a bad wrestler-- I was a fan of Goldust back in the da, too. And Swerve is just legitimately great in the ring. Always glad to see Swerve win a match.
Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin, and Sting vs Ricky Starks, Big Bill, Konosuke Takeshita and Powerhouse Hobbs
I'll be honest, outside of listening to Tony Schiavonne do his "IT'S STIIIIIIIIIIIING" I just couldn't care about this match. I just had no investment in it, to the point that can't really remember anything specific about it.
I'm getting kind of tired of the Don Callis family, and honestly just Don Callis in general.
I don't care about Jericho and Callis.
I don't know if it's his choice or not, but I wish that Sammy would actually get away from Jericho and do something independently.
Starks and Bill are fun as a pair. They're cool.
I want to see Takeshita more.
Darby is here for a good time, not a long time.
I will probably be a little sad when Sting retires (although if he un-retires, as wrestlers tend to do, I will also be annoyed).
Abadon vs Julia Hart (c), AEW TBS Title
It was alright. I'm glad to see Abadon finally wrestling more than just on Halloween, and seeing a match that was really just two different types of Spooky fighting each other was kinda fun. The audience was definitely enjoying it. Julia and Abadon have both had better matches. Something seemed off about it. It almost felt kind of sloppy-- one thing that stuck out in particular was Julia messed up her moonsault at the end of the match.
Didn't expect Abadon to win, but it would have been cool if they did.
Adam Copeland vs Christian Cage (c), AEW TNT Title, no DQ
The audience actively detracted from the match for me. One of my least favorite things is when the audience just sits there shouting "WE WANT [X]" for various props in a no DQ/hardcore match. It feels like they don't really care about the match so much as the specific spot that they're wanting.
That said. I liked this. Christian was great, Adam was great. They worked really hard to give you the feeling that they weren't friends anymore. Had a lot of good hardcore wrestling spots. Watching Nick Wayne eat shit because the burning table didn't break was kinda funny. Copeland winning was a nice move.
Christian Cage vs Adam Copeland (c), AEW TNT Title
Dino-Kane, having won the battle royal from Zero Hour, showed up and mauled Copeland. Dino-Kane was about to request his title shot when Christian Cage managed to con the title shot from him. So, Christian signed the contract for the title shot. The match was made official. Bell rings, Christian hits a spear and wins back the TNT title.
lmao.
I appreciate it just for being such a POS move from Christian.
Jon Moxley vs Eddie Kingston (c), Continental Classic finals, NJPW Strong Openweight title, ROH World title, AEW Continental Title
Match of the night, categorically. Mox and Eddie are fantastic. I was absolutely glued to my screen. These dudes know how to put on a good match, and so many matches with Eddie always feel like they have these enormous stakes involved, no matter who insignificant the match actually is. Few people can, or do, get me as invested in their matches as Eddie Kingston does in his.
I loved it. I was so happy to see Eddie actually win it all. And to see Mox and Eddie hug after the match-- not in a shipping way. You do you with that, it's not my cup of scene-- but because I like that Mox and Eddie are seemingly back to being friends.
I don't like to sit and analyze stuff involving Eddie too much, because I feel like it's disrespectful to try to do inside baseball shit to a guy like him and the work he puts into his character.
Samoa Joe vs MJF (c), AEW World Title
MJF is another dude who I don't like to sit and analyze too much, because of his character work and things like that. The commitment MJF and Eddie have to keeping kayfabe is genuinely great, and I have nothing but respect and appreciation for that.
That being said, we gotta do some of that with this.
MJF is, according to myraid reports, like Super Injured and in tons of pain. He's been dealing with stuff for a while.
I think this managed to help the story of the match a long, but it hurt the actual quality of it.
MJF's babyface run lately has felt a lot like an homage to that 1980s-early 1990s babyface archetype. Get beat down, overcome adversity, etc.-- the same kind of thing that Cody Rhodes has done. MJF is also a great babyface because he's very open about a lot of his personal issues, which makes him relatable to be people (part of why people like Hangman Page is the whole "anxious millennial cowboy" thing is very relatable to many). Being injured makes MJF the underdog. Makes you want to rally behind him even more and see him win. Especially against someone like Samoa Joe. Especially on his home turf.
But I can't help but wonder if this match would have been better if MJF had been at 100%. Something about it felt off. I don't know if I was just reading into it too much, or what. Maybe MJF was always going to be injured for the purposes of the match. I have no idea. While I can wonder, it doesn't really do any good.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the match. I'm a fan of Samoa Joe's, and I'm glad to see AEW treating him as this monster of a dude who just wrecks people's shit.
At this point, I just really hope that MJF is able to do whatever he needs to do so that he can recover from all his shit falling apart. Especially with what happens after the match.
Aftermath
After the match, The Devil's henchmen come to the ring and threaten to beat up Adam and MJF-- specifically, threatening to hit them with a chair. MJF trying to convince them to attack him, and not Adam. Adam trying to divert the attack onto him and not MJF. Then the lights go out.
When they come back, Adam is now sitting in the chair that the henchman had been brandishing. The four henchman unmask themselves. It's Wardlow, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, and Roderick Strong.
So, in a move that was legitimately not surprising, but also the only logical move in the narrative-- Adam Cole is The Devil that had been attacking MJF and others. I am absolutely okay with this.
I had been waiting for a while to see how they were going to split up the MJF/Adam Cole team. Adam Cole is one of the most morally reprehensible pieces of shit out there. It's one of his most significant character traits.
I'm legitimately looking forward to seeing where MJF goes from here. His best friend, his only friend, betrayed him and took from him one of the only things he cared about. He trust Adam, and Adam abused that trust. Now he's left with nothing.
When MJF comes back, he will absolutely have the crowd behind him, so I'm hoping they don't decide he should come back and turn heel (like when they kept Rollins as a heel after he returned from his knee exploding several years ago).
There's a lot of places this story could still go, and a lot of them have the potential to be pretty entertaining.

Couple of questions about your Pocket AU (which I love, btw)
Is it just Steve and Bucky who have Pockets, or does anyone else in the MCU have one? If so, who are they, who does their Pocket represent, and what is that Pocket's adorable name?
Speaking of adorable names, was it hard to come up with them for Steeb and Booky? How long did it take you to come up with those names, and where did you get inspiration from?
Can Pockets only say their own names? And does that exclamation of, for example, Steeb, have a meaning behind it? Is chirping their name somehow a language?
What's the aspect of this AU you struggled the most with?
And... that's it for now. I probably have more questions, but they aren't forming in my brain rn. Bye.
I'm sorry I just got around to answering this, Nonny! I have had my Q&A word  document open with it since it came in, I just had to wrangle my brain into Answering Space.
Pockets are common in human society, MCU included! When I started the AU, I only knew about Steeb and Booky, but since talking about it with friends and getting the wonderful asks, I now know about:
Steeb and Booky (belonging to Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers respectively)
Лисичка (Lisichka) and Солнышко (Solnishko), meaning 'little fox' and 'little sun' respectively, also respectively Pockets for Maria Hill and Natasha Romanov
Tony Stark has Pockets of Pepper Potts, Bruce Banner, and James Rhodes. Their names are Salt, Little Green, and Jim.
Bruce Banner has Pocket Betty and Pocket Tony - I don't know their names yet but I know it took ages for Pocket Tony to calm down and for the two of them to get along
Pepper and Rhodey both have a Pocket Tony, who also do not have names yet.
They really try to keep all the Pockets Tony separate because they Scheme otherwise.
Thor has a Jane Pocket. He didn't know what Pockets were, but he is DELIGHTED by the idea of them and that he HAS ONE.
Gamora has a Quill Pocket. She doesn't know what Pockets are. Quill doesn't know what Pockets are. He thought they were a dream he had as a kid and Yondu said it sounded like a story, so how is he supposed to know what it is. Cue Guardians of The Galaxy 1.5 where the gang has to learn about Pockets, and only 25% of the information they get is correct. This entire idea is honestly consuming me since another anon asked about it.
No but really, picture it.
Gamora: "What the fuck is that? WHY the fuck is that?"
Drax: "I'll do you one better - who the fuck--"
Quill: "IT'S OBVIOUSLY ME, JACKASS"
ONTO YOUR SECOND QUESTION, Steeb and Booky's names were actually pretty easy. I was inspired to make Pocket AU by @awrubyblue's fucking adorable series on Bucky finding a Pocket!Steve, whose name was Steeb. Finding Booky from Bucky in the same way was simple enough. Names for other Pockets have been a mixture of 'That was easy' and 'How do I know this Russian is correct?' (That's the neat part, I don't.)
As for how Pockets speak, they have their own universal Pocket language that is similar to Simlish but easier to listen to.Individually, Pockets can understand the native languages of their soulmates and their people, and can also learn to say one syllable words. (Tell me Steeb doesn't know how to say 'Fuck.' You can't. You can not.)
The aspect I have struggled the most with this AU is getting it OUT OF MY HEAD and into words - I would love to be churning out 100k fics about this universe if it were feasible, but I have to do stupid capitalist things like work 50 hours a week and pay bills. As for actually creating the AU, I have been lucky - @awrubyblue's comics were great inspiration, and @subluxate is great at thinking of bigger picture things where I focus on the small stuff. And all of the asks I have gotten have really helped me flesh things out!!

I have so many conflicting feelings about the whole Tony x Arman X Nadia of it all, especially from last week's epsiode! I'm probably in the minority but I actually really like Nadia and I even sorta like her and Nadia - even though of course I would love for Thony and Arman to be together but not until he's no longer with Nadia of course. I really wish we'd get some kind of backstory episode on her and Arman's relationship, and now more so with Kamdar too since there is clearly a LOT of history there too. They've clearly been together for a long time and there are definitely feelings involved still, even if Arman also definitely has feelings for Thony too ("I don't know". Oh, OKAY??!). Maybe they might not be in love with each other but they do love each other. Just my opinion! Lol. And while I can understand Thony wanting to protect her family I don't love how quick she was ready to throw Nadia under the bus when they found her in Kamdar's office and telling Arman he should reconcile with her. I like that she was more level headed later when talking to Arman about finding the marriage certificate between Nadia and Kamdar. And Arman didn't have to but of course he listened to Thony and now their trio is as messy as ever! I can't help but feel bad for Nadia now and I don't watch the episode promos cause I like to remain spoiler free as possible but I really hope nothing happens to her! I don't think she and Kamdar are still currently married, but I wanna say maybe they got married for some sort of convenience. Either way though, Kamdar needs to be taken downnnn.
I so look forward to these messages because we are on the same page! Last episode really threw some curveballs for me as well.
I also like Nadia and think there is potential for a really interesting story there when she breaks free of Arman. She could be an antagonist to him and Thony in business or could begrudgingly work with them to advance her own agenda. There is some great plot there if we kill the love triangle. I don't like the position they are putting her in where she is this roadblock that Arman basically gaslights about his relationship with Thony (although I also don't think Arman fully realises he is doing this as evidenced by his "I don't know").
One of my biggest problems with the show this season has been the lack of clarity we have around Arman and Nadia's relationship. The show obviously decided to slow down the Thony/Arman train and in doing that they had to keep Nadia in this limbo. I could not figure out what it was that drew Nadia and Arman to each other. They behave like business partners. This episode gave us a few crumbs of their history together and it made me see their relationship a little differently. Firstly, I now don't think they were married for as long as previously thought (add to that, Nadia is younger than I imagined!!) and secondly it seems like she went straight from Kamdar to Arman. While I think they do love each other this is an interesting dynamic to me because it reframes their relationship as one that wasn't just born out of two people innocently falling in love and building a life together. Nadia was seeking safety and Arman at this time was still just some lackey for Hayak and did not start making real moves until Nadia came around to inspire him (like she once did with Kamdar). This was a mutually beneficial relationship.
I’m starting to understand their marriage a little more and why it is falling apart when people like Kamdar (Nadia's past) and Thony (possibility of Arman's future) start exerting pressure.
In saying all that, a backstory episode would not go astray. I'd love to dive into that and get all our questions answered.
I really love that you acknowledged the way Thony acted this episode. I also really disliked her pushing Arman the way she did (which is maybe the first time I've ever really had an issue with Thony), it felt so cold. On the back of what Arman did for them in the last episode it felt like just another thing he was having to sacrifice for Thony. I understand that Thony was under immense stress for her family but I also wonder if the writers were trying to hint at a darker side to her emerging where she becomes so singleminded at the expense of others (even Arman) 🤷‍♀️
Unfortunately we have another week to wait to see how everything pans out...😫😫

Copycat: Cryptomnesia —(Marvel Fem!Oc)
A/N: Long story short Cat told Matt she’s in love with him -Danny
Words: 1,844
Phase Five Masterlist
Previous Chapter // Next Chapter
Listen to: ‘Nothing New’ -by Taylor Swift ft. Phoebe Bridgers
Tumblr media
v: Bittersweet
Cat hadn't promised to stay, and Matthew hadn't asked her to after the first time, but things had fallen into a space where they felt manageable.
As much as she desired to have her freedom, she didn't want to spend every night alone, it was better to stay for as long as the affection lasted between them, otherwise, it'd be wasted and lost.
Happy told her there would be a little gathering with Pepper and Rhodey to show them the place and she was invited as well as Harley. He was trying to convince Pepper to let the boy do an internship at Stark industries.
"He's got the brain to work there, never met one like him."
"As long as people don't find out he was Tony's ward, we don't want them to think he got the position thanks to favoritism."
"Talking about favorites..." Happy glanced at her. "How's your boyfriend?"
Cat smiled. "He's okay."
"You're still living with him?"
"Yes."
"Don't you want to go back to your place?"
"Happy."
"I just wanna know."
She sighed. "I'll tell you this... I feel like I gotta stick around if I want things to work. If I go away too soon Matthew's gonna change his mind or I'll change mine—"
"Change your mind?"
Cat wasn't particularly set on keeping her love life private, not like she thought it would jinx it, it was like... it wasn't hers to tell. Someone else's story.
"If I stay away for too long I might realize my friends do things I like better than the ones I do with Matt, or he'll be alone with his friends and he'll be like 'Oh, right. This is how a real person is supposed to act.' And he'll decide I'm not enough—"
"Do you think he'll get tired of you?"
"No. Yes. Maybe." She groaned. "I think the ticking's back..."
"The what?"
"It's this feeling, a countdown I hear every time something's going too well. When I was in space and... and..." Cat frowned, trying to remember. "The first time everything went south..."
Happy looked at her without understanding. "When?"
Her confusion increased. "Ugh, doesn't matter. Things go well until they don't."
"So the ticking's a trauma response?"
"Maybe?"
"You can't be happy 'cause you feel that's what causes the bad things."
"I just... can't stop being acutely aware of the time..." she pushed her hair back as if trying to gather her thoughts. "I just have this feeling... that I should be looking for something."
"Like what?"
"I don't know, I think I'm just anxious about Matthew so I keep poking around hoping to find something that'll stop me."
"Well, in that case, the solution's pretty clear," Happy retorted.
She stared at him. "Really?"
"Look forward to new things, so you don't look back."
Cat frowned. "How do I do that?"
The man looked slightly uncomfortable, but he pushed through. "You can bring Matthew to my place if you want."
"Really? You'd be okay with that?" Cat beamed.
"Well, I'd never seen you so attached to a guy since you met your brother," he sighed. "Never seen you in love, so if this is it... I wanna know what the big deal is."
The young woman wrapped her arms around Happy, taking him by surprise. He stayed in his seat but hugged her gently, patting her arm lightly. After merely a second, she added quietly. "Tony would've been happy for me, right? He wanted me to have a life, and I'm finally starting to get one."
Happy moved away. "You could give Bruce and Clint a call, tell them about Matt?"
"Oh, they don't care," she snorted. "I annoy Clint. And Bruce... I always had the feeling he liked me but in the way people like lions— from a distance."
"What about Wanda?"
Her smile faltered. "I'm not sure that rubbing my love life in her face is a good idea. I might just call to hear how she's doing."
"Do that, it might do some good," he patted her arm again. "I'm proud of you, kid."
Cat looked away, she stepped back. "Don't."
"Cat..."
She was saved from making an excuse when her phone rang.
Tumblr media
"There she is!" Foggy was standing outside the bar with Matthew. "Hey, you!"
"Why are you out here?" She asked. "Where's Karen?"
"We're not staying here," Matt explained.
"Why?"
"Matt said we should do something different— a bit more refined," Foggy grinned. "He's buying us dinner."
Cat looked at her boyfriend. "You're taking us on a date?"
Matthew shrugged. "The children were feeling neglected."
"He's turned down every single offer to hang out since you came back, which I'm not holding against you at all, I'm sure you missed him as much as he missed you—"
"He missed me?" A grin formed on her face. "Was he annoying about it?"
"Should've seen him, dude was suffering the worst case of blue ba—"
"That's enough," Matthew laughed. "He's lying. I never mentioned you."
"Ouch," Cat and Foggy said at the same time. "That was cold," Foggy put an arm around her shoulders in a protective way.
"And here I was, thinking we had something special," Cat added.
"I should've warned you when I had the chance," the blond man shook his head. "And you were so young..."
"Am I breaking her heart or is she dead?" Matt grinned.
"Who's dead?"
The sight moved the floor under Cat's feet. She would always feel small around Karen Page, but there was something about her that made her impossible to hate, and she'd tried to during the first month of knowing her.
"No one, Cat and Foggy are idiots," Matthew replied.
The duo complained again, sounding even more offended than the first time. Matt raised both hands, one of them holding his cane.
"Alright, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to be rude," he offered his free hand to Cat. "I missed you. I thought I'd done a pretty good job at hiding it, but the only person I convinced of that was myself."
"I forgive you," Cat held his hand and moved away from Foggy. "Only because you're buying us dinner."
"What?" Karen smiled. "That's generous..."
"He's celebrating that his girl's back," Foggy taunted, now walking beside Karen.
"Enough, Foggy," Matt insisted, but he was smiling from ear to ear.
"Is he drunk?" Cat asked under her breath.
"No, he's just in a good mood, for some reason."
"What kind of sick bastard decides to be in a good mood?" She joked.
Matthew kissed her cheek, it was his turn to wrap his arm around her shoulders. "How's Happy?"
"Genuinely happy for the first time in a while," Cat admitted. "He's invited the family to his apartment next weekend."
Matthew hummed. "You going?"
He knew how awkward she was about those reunions, however, now that she'd agreed to it, she would use it to her benefit, to calm her own paranoid mind. "Happy said you were invited."
Matthew raised a brow. "Am I? That's interesting."
"He's never seen me in love or whatever," Cat tried to get the explanation out as quickly as possible. "He's curious about you."
He tilted his head, frowning a little. "What's that?"
"You heard me," she said impatiently.
"You're in love?" A tiny smile formed on his lips. "That can't be right. What did you say to me last weekend? That you can't—"
"Wasn't I supposed to be the childish one in this relationship?" Cat snapped.
There it was again, same old Matthew, totally comfortable with the situation. If she wasn't the problem she wondered what on earth had worried him the other night. What was holding him back from saying "I love you" to her?
Tumblr media
Matthew was all smiles throughout the whole evening, it was unlike him, but it looked good on him. At the end of the night, Foggy went to get a taxi for him and Karen, and Matthew followed him out to attend to a phone call. Cat accompanied Karen to the restroom.
"How long will you be staying this time around?"
Cat frowned. "Oh, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. Could be months, a year... I work with friends. We er... we get hired for different things."
Karen gave her a look. "Can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead."
"Are you like him?" Karen decided to let out a bit more. "You do things most people can't... perhaps while wearing a suit?"
In spite of herself, Cat smiled. "So what if I do? Would that be a problem?"
Karen pondered her question. "I'm not sure. You're friendlier than Elektra..."
The mention irritated her, Cat knew she wasn't that different. Matthew didn't know this yet, but their fairytale would die instantly once he did.
"What's clear to me is that Matthew has a type, and usually they end up breaking things he's barely managed to put together," Karen continued. "But you're different... I just don't know how."
"I'd love to agree, but you're wrong," she said. "I'm exactly like them: a timebomb. But —and I think this is the important part— I might be able to deactivate before I cause any damage."
"I think the important bit is not wanting to harm," the woman replied. "The rest should come easily."
"For a normal person, maybe."
Karen nodded in understanding. "But you're not a normal person."
She looked towards the bathroom's entrance and changed the subject. "We should head out, they'll start to wonder why we're taking so long..."
Cat tried to walk but Karen stopped her.
"The way he was smiling tonight... it'd been a while since I saw that. If you can find a way to be happy for him..."
Cat stared at her. "Can I ask you something, Karen?"
"Shoot."
"Do you think he likes me because I'm more enthusiastic than him?"
"No," she replied sincerely. "I think he likes you because you don't try to change who he is like we do. You understand."
"What will happen if that changes? Should I be who he would like me to be, just to keep him happy?"
"I think you're the only one who can answer that... but Matt wouldn't ask you to be something that you're not."
"You know," Cat tilted her head. "I was asked to decide how I wanted to live the rest of my life when I was very young. Back then I thought I would live less than a decade, now a decade has gone by, and I have no idea of what to do next."
"That sounds like it was a tough choice to make," Karen replied.
"It was. A friend told me then, that our life was composed of grays, I think the same but..." she stopped for a moment, the ticking was stuck in her throat. "Matthew's black and white, and he doesn't like to mix them up. I knew this and I still went after him. Part of me can't help but think I do this on purpose."
Karen looked like she might've hugged her hadn't been because she knew Cat wasn't a fan of hugs. "Matt cares about you, you don't have to go anywhere."
"Not yet, but one day..."
"One day at a time, starting with the present," Karen told her firmly. "We can't live in hypotheticals, right?"
Matt had mentioned Karen had lost her brother when she was in her twenties like Cat, and before that she'd struggled with other things too. Cat had as much in common with Karen as with Elektra, she was not beyond repair.
"We should hang out more," Cat said, holding the blonde's hand and guiding her out. "Can't be healthy for us to be around men all day."

You know what I love about iron man 3?
The fact that it completely destroys the notion of Arrogant Selfish Uncaring Tony Stark™ that so many people believe him to be.
After Happy’s hospitalized, who is the only one sitting, waiting in that hospital chair, even though Happy is nowhere even close to breaking consciousness? Tony Stark. Not only is he there for his friend because he was hurt, but he specifically tells the nurse to keep his favorite show on -- knowing it was his favorite show, as well as commenting about keeping all badges in plain site, because he’s “a stickler for that sort of thing.”
And to show just how important his friends and their safety is to Tony, he straight up threatens a terrorist because of what he did to Happy, acting out of nothing but emotion, angry enough to make the decision to broadcast his home address. Something that eventually leads to jeopardizing his and Pepper’s safety, but he’s so angry about what the Mandarin did to his friend that he can’t even think about direct consequences, other than getting this guy in a body bag. Selfish and Uncaring Tony Stark™ at work here? I don’t think so.
When Maya visits Malibu Mansion, he greets her as if he doesn’t know her, questioning only if she’s the Mandarin. To which Maya responds, “why am I not surprised?” Because Tony Stark is Tony Stark™, why would he remember some girl he spent one night with over a decade ago?
And then he introduces her as his old botanist pal to Pepper, not even a minute later.
Because he does remember, and he does care. She’s not just ‘another girl that he’s crossed paths with and doesn’t give two shits about’ like so many people expect him to. And with a single sentence that derails that entire line of thinking.
During the mansion attack, when we see Tony call his suit -- we obviously expect it to form around Tony, after all that was what we saw in the beginning, and it’s leading up to this intense moment. But he directs it instead to protect Pepper, and he takes the blunt of the force instead, colliding into a wall with no armor at all. He could have easily chosen himself to protect, but he didn’t, because he cares so much about Pepper, he’d rather have himself in harm’s way than her. Not only that, but he immediately tells Pepper to grab Maya and leave the danger zone before he even thinks about taking the suit back.
If that wasn’t enough, after the mansion is destroyed, Tony leaves a voicemail to Pepper. Not only does he let her know he’s okay, and apologize for his actions, realizing that what he did put her in harms way, he also apologizes for his Christmas gift to her. “Rabbit’s too big. Done.”
This is only the first half hour of the movie, people. I could go on and on about just how much of a materialized Front Tony Stark™ is, and just how much different it is from actual Tony Stark.
Tony Stark cares. Tony Stark remembers. And he puts everybody before himself.

The bold intern
Pairing: Mob boss Andy Barber x Intern Reader
Warnings: Implied age gap (based on my research Reader would be around 26-27 and Andy around 35), mentions of mob business, Reader has a backbone, cursing, broken nose, mentions of blood, Reader knowingly makes bad decisions (at least three), mentioned drinking & implied drunk sexy times 🙈
A/N: Andy is not married and doesn't have children in this fic.
Tumblr media
He was on the phone when your head popped through the door crack. He beckoned you over with his fingers and you carefully closed the door behind you, standing in front of his desk, waiting for his call to be over.
"I know how much money he gave me Tony, but the contract you signed recently clearly stated that I get you pardoned for ONE thing - money laundering. I kept my end, but it's not my fault you got in trouble for other things - solicitation, DUI, drug possession and arms dealing are not covered in our contract. Now I have a meeting so we can talk later about what I will want to get the previously mentioned charges dropped. In the mean time, do think about how you will say yes." Andy smirked and finally met your eyes as he ended the call.
"I have a meeting in 3 minutes, so whatever you have to say or ask, better do it quickly, Sweetheart." He leaned in his chair and listened.
"It's about that client. He's bleeding all over the sofa and I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to the store and cleaning up as the leather shouldn't soak up that blood." You explained nonchalantly and pointed to the corridor laying behind the closed door of his office. Andy stood up immediately.
"What do you mean he's bleeding? What the fuck happened?" He walked around his desk to get to the door.
"I broke his nose. It's surprising how much blood pours out of it, really." You shrugged and stopped your boss in his tracks.
"You broke his nose? Why?" He blinked.
"Yes. I punched him after he hit on me and refused to take no as an answer." You raised your chin up slightly, making Andy raise his eyebrows and smile down at you.
"While I approve of it, you can't go around punching clients."
"Andy, I took this job because the pay is too good to pass up. And I understand that with every good thing compromises have to be made. That's why when I hear yelling, shoving, punching and screaming coming from your office, I pop in my earbuds and I continue working. When I see people wanted by the police strolling in and out of your office, sometimes in worse shapes, I don't pick up the phone and call 911." Andy crossed his arms over his chest and observed you with interest. "But hitting on me and not getting my disinterest, flat out trying to grope me...that's where I draw the line. Please pass that on to your clients."
"Duly noted." Andy nodded slightly, a smirk playing on his lips at your boldness.
"I'm gonna go to the store now and you two can continue the meeting." You once again pointed to the door and only exited when he gave you an acknowledgement.
He chuckled when you walked out, leaving the door opened and said to the client: "You can go in and try not to get blood on the carpet. I really don't want to deal with Jack today."
After the meeting was done, the client walked out of the office, nodding at you cautiously before Andy followed him out.
"I had a little talk with Bryce. Don't worry he won't bother you again." He smiled as he stood in front of your desk, you nodded briefly as you typed at your laptop. "So, how many noses have you broken so far?"
"Just two." You looked up from your screen.
"How long have you been practicing Taekwondo?"
"Zero time, but I have been boxing for the past 7 years."
"Isn't boxing a bit violent?"
"That's rich coming from the man who runs an underground crime ring." You laughed and leaned back in your chair, looking up at him.
"Fair point. I shouldn't be judging others by their appearance." He lifted his arms in surrender.
"I was thinking - you've been working for me for over a year now and I never offered to take you for a post-win drink. Would you care to join me today?" Andy offered and stepped closer, his thighs bumped at the edge of your desk.
"What are you celebrating?"
"Putting Tony in his place. I owed his father for putting me through law school and his proposal was to help his son out until I feel like I have repaid my debt to the Stark family. This was the last favour and I feel like I deserve a drink. Will you join me?" He smiled at you. It was a bad idea. You knew it. But so was taking this job, according to your friends and it was going well.
"One drink?"
"Just one." He smirked when you stood up, turning off your computer and taking your red blazer hung over the chair.
The red blazer was the first thing that came into your view when you opened your eyes in the morning. You groaned softly as your world still spun, turning over and coming face to face with your handsome boss. You blinked a few times, sobering up really fast as flashbacks from previous night came rushing to your head.
That ONE drink you were supposed to have.
The little cozy corner you two sat at.
The warm sound of Andy's laughter.
Those damn drinks you kept ordering even though the smart part of your brain told you not to.
Andy carrying your red heels as you walked down the few streets to get to the metro station.
The brilliant idea to kiss him, because you wanted to know how danger tasted like...
"Fuck." You whispered to yourself and you covered your head with your hand, chewing your bottom lip. This was probably the worst idea yet.
"Good morning, Sweetheart." Andy smiled as he woke up to you sitting in the giant king sized bed and kissed your naked shoulder.
Thank you for reading! 🙏💙
Ed Sheerans Bad Habits were on my mind here 🙈

Chapter 10 - Atlantis
You ignore the insinuating look Pietro gives you when he sees you leaving Wanda's room in the morning.
"Not a word." You warn threateningly as he raises his arms in surrender, holding back his laughter.
You turn and go back to your room, trying not to smile like an idiot as you prepare for the mission, and failing miserably.
You try not to think about last night, or the morning after, but the feel of Wanda's lips on your skin is all that comes to mind for the next few hours.
Even during breakfast, where after she stole a kiss on your cheek in the hallway before you guys joined the Avengers, and sat beside you at the table while Steve went over some details to everyone, all you could think about was the last night. In Wanda's taste, her hands inside…
"Stop it." She warns softly at your side. Lower enough so only you can hear, and not to get in the way of the captain's speech. You blink in confusion, and then you understand. Feeling your face heat up, you look at her with a mixture of surprise and indignation.
"You can...?"
"Yes, now eat in silence please." She interrupts in the same tone, equally embarrassed as she keeps her gaze on the plate in front of her.
"Wanda?" You try next. And she mutters under her breath, and then she realizes. She rolls her eyes, and goes back to eating. You smile. "I can't believe you didn't tell me you could hear thoughts."
"It was kind of obvious don't you think?" She retorts mentally. "My whole thing is mind control."
"Your whole thing is to be the love of my life." You tease and she chokes lightly on her coffee, making you hold back a laugh as you gently touch her back. She says she's fine softly, and Steve, who had given her a worried look, goes back to talking about planning for the defenses in Sokovia.
"When this is over, I want to try a few things." You mentally tell her and Wanda looks at you quickly before turning her attention back to Steve. You imitate the movement.
"We'll leave as soon as you finish eating." Steve says already getting up. You suddenly feel anxious.
Wanda notices the way your body has tensed, and looks at you immediately.
"Hey, everything okay?" she asks tenderly. You give her a weak smile, placing your hand on her thigh. Wanda puts her hand on top of yours.
"I'm nervous."
"Me too." She confesses. "But we'll be fine. I got you."
"And I got you."
//-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-//
As soon as you join the jet with the rest of the Avengers, you could already feel the control serum starting to wear off.
Sighing a little, you don't even have to ask to have Wanda's hand in yours. Her eyes and fingers glow red for a moment as she helps you, before returning to normal. You mumble a thanks, resting your back against the jet's wall.
"Remember what we trained, Avengers." Announces Steve upon entering. "Removing the civilians is the support team's priority, while Clint searches for Natasha. The strike team must deal with Ultron's guards."
"Yes, captain." The team says in understanding, and then the jet is leaving.
It takes ten minutes for Pietro to start teasing you.
"I hear we had a girls night yesterday." Commented the boy out loud, attracting the attention of Bruce and Bucky, who were standing next to you. Wanda glared at her brother.
"Pietro..."
"What is it, sestra? I’m just saying.”He joked. You wondered if you could throw him off the jet from that high. "I heard that this type of activity is a great stress reliever."
You felt your face heat up, and you sank into your seat. In the next second, the rest of the team understood. Clint whistled loudly, and Tony laughed. Bruce blushed and pretended to pay attention to his boots while Bucky giggled at Steve's embarrassed expression.
"Forgive me, I'm not following the reason for the humor in this conversation." Vision commented then.
"Don’t you dare." Wanda warned when he saw Pietro raise his hand to tell Vis what was being said, and the boy laughed before ducking.
Vision watched the interaction with confusion, but it was Tony who threw his arm around him.
"They had sex, champion." Tony announced, making you grunt in embarrassment. "I can't wait for Nat to know, she owes me fifteen bucks”.
“What?” Wanda asks, confused.
"Ah, it's just that before you arrived, the golden eyes there were always talking about you." Tony counts with irony. "How much she loved and missed a certain little witch and her inconvenient brother. So we made a bet that you two would work it out. I said it would happen before you went back to Sokovia, but Natasha thought Y/N was slower and would just work it out after we’re done with Ultron."
"Thanks for the faith, Tony." You mumble awkwardly, adjusting your posture. "Now if you don't mind, can you stop talking about my life?"
The team laughs but the comments about you and Wanda stops. Until you reach Sokovia, you spend your time playing with Wanda fingers as you both lay against each other's shoulders while listening to whenever small talk the Avengers build up.
Things get tense once you reach the country.
Steve signals that you arrive and starts moving around to get read for the jet to land.
You only let go of Wanda’s hand to put your suit on and once you’re done, she’s right in front of you, smiling tenderly as she puts a jacket on.
“Are you good?” She asks.
“Yes. You?”
“Yeah.” She aswerns as she moves forward to kiss you firmly on the mouth. It relaxes your body completely, and you keep your hands on top of hers that are on your face until you break the kiss.
You wish you could care about the teasing looks the team cast to you too, but all you see is Wanda.
//-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-////-//-//-//
You sat down quickly on the ground, your body against a wall, while trying to get your breathing back to normal.
Wanda was using her powers to get civilians out of their homes, and well, it took some of her magical attention away from you.
It didn't take long for you to be able to detect all the biological life around you again, meters and meters away, quickly feeling overwhelmed.
"How are we?" Steve asked over the communicator, probably already advancing with the rest of the team towards the former Hydra base. You looked up at the sky to get a quick glimpse of Tony flying in his suit before he vanished away.
"All right around here, Captain." Clint responded first followed by the rest of the team.
Your hesitation made Steve specifically call you, but before you could say anything, Wanda was kneeling beside you, one hand on your shoulder and the other on her communicator.
"We are good." She responded before turning her attention to you completely. You felt her magic envelop you quickly, your body relaxing. "How do you feel, dear?"
"Better now." You respond with a smile. "Thanks."
As she helped you to your feet, you noticed her worried expression, and placed a hand on her cheek.
"I'm fine Wanda, I promise."
"Just don't push too far, okay?" She asks. "You can go back to the jet whenever you want."
"I'll be okay, Wanda." You mumble. "Let's get this over with so we can go back to bed." You teases with a mischievous smile, stealing a kiss before walking away, giving her a wink before heading towards the rest of the civilians.
Ultron had better plans than this.
“We need to get everyone out of here immediately.” Tony told through the communicator. “A vibranium bomb. We don’t have time.”
“Working on it, iron boss.” You mock as you helped another family move out of their home. Just like, Pietro had already headed to police stations and hospitals to remove people from there. There was a large crowd of inhabitants heading out of town, but there were still many more.
Peace ended quickly.
Ultron activated the robot army, and they literally began to sprout from the ground.
"Bucky, we're going to need support here pal." Steve warned through the communicator while you were drawing your pistol to prevent one of the robots from advancing on you.
"On my way, cap." The soldier warned. "Just don't tell my therapist."
You and the team laughed lightly as you fought. The whole thing getting bigger and bigger every minute.
Wanda covered for you while you guided people out, but it was becoming untenable.
So, as soon as she tore apart the small group of Ultron’s army that was surrounding you two, you called her.
"You can't keep babysitting me , this is getting too bad." You warned, your voice almost muffled by the length of the fight. The robots flying above you, and Thor and Vision facing them in the sky.
"I won't leave you." She insisted seriously and you swallowed hard.
"Wanda..."
“End of discussion.”
“You are cute and all, it's just that we have a situation here. Mind getting back into the fight?" Natasha's voice interrupted the moment over the radio, sounding amused and teasing. You sighed with relief when you realized she was okay, and you exchanged one last look with Wanda before going back to fighting. “By the way, Tony said I lost the bet.”
“Please don’t bring this back.” You ask Natasha, that just laughs before hanging off, not without teasing you about being proud of you for making a move.
The ground shook beneath your feet, making it difficult for you to keep your balance.
"Guys, what's going on?" You asked through the communicator.
Sokovia is going for a ride.
Friday tells the whole team. You gasp in surprise, looking around.
The ground is breaking apart, and the city is rising into the air. You don't need your powers to know that not all buildings are empty. The debris will end up hurting someone.
And even with all that, the advances of Ultron's army get even worse.
You barely have time to duck before Wanda rips apart a robot that attacked you.
Clint catches up with you two the next second.
"We need to regroup, Tony needs us back there." He warns you. You frown.
"Not a chance, there are civilians all over the place." You say, moving quickly to fire at the machines that have appeared behind you.
"Well, we need the offensive back at the church." He counters. "That's where the bomb is."
"You two go then." You say when you finish shooting. Wanda, who has just destroyed three machines at once, turns to you in indignation.
"No."
But you don't look at her, you look at the blue flash figure approaching.
“Hey Peete, do you mind?” You shouted to him as he stopped next to you two. He nods at you before picking Wanda up, who has no time to complain. He teases Clint "Keep up, old man." before disappearing at high speed, making you laugh.
Clint looks at you.
“Are you sure?”
"It's my job to protect them.”
“The Maximoff or the civilians?” He mocks, making you roll your eyes.
“Go, Barton.”
It doesn't take long for your biological detection to come back.
You think you're going to pass out. But you take a deep breath, and stumble among cars and wrecking machines.
Calm down. You remember Wanda's soft voice in the glass room. The feel of her fingers on your skin. Calm down, I'm here. You can do this.
"I can do this." You mutter to yourself, trying to keep your balance.
You find a horde around the corner, almost close enough to a group of civilians coming out of the municipal hospital.
Ignoring the feeling of being overwhelmed at being able to feel the fear and despair of those people, you advance with the pistol in your hand.
The machines were destroyed, but not by you.
"You took your time, Barnes." You tease with a wry smile, rushing to help the civilians, feeling their superficial wounds before helping them. Bucky smiles and shrugs, a rifle in his hand as he gives you cover to help the population.
"Two minutes out here and I'm already missing my retirement." He comments as he fires, making you laugh, a bit breathless due your powers. Bucky notices right the way. "Are you all right?"
"I'm just considering retiring too after here." You retort by standing up again, helping the little girl who had bruises on her forehead to join the rest of the family. She smiles in thanks, but you're already walking away again, your head pounding from how many people you can feel at once.
You stumble around the rubble to the front of the municipal hospital. Ignoring the memories you have of the whole neighborhood, you try to focus on some group.
"Y/N, I think there are kids coming out of that corner!" Bucky unnecessarily warns you because you've already felt them.
You recognize Church clothes that the adults leading the group wear. They are coming from the Orphanage where you grew up.
You run to catch up to them, and it's the first time you've really noticed Ultron's cruelty. It's a horde that arises, and they notice you right away. The machine in front follows your gaze to the small group, and it has a chance to shoot only you, but it turns its mechanical hand, and aims directly at the kids.
You widen your eyes, feeling your heart race.
"NO!"
Something explodes in your chest. Everything turns golden before returning to normal color. You can’t see the golden wave that reaches the group because there’s a pain in the back of your head that makes you close your eyes tightly.
The robot fired, but if it weren't for the gunshot marks on the robes, no one would know as none of the civilians had any injury. The kids were wide-eyed, and you fell to your knees.
Bucky shot the machines before looking at you in amazement.
"How did you do that? They were practically a street away." He asked in shock, watching the nuns guide the kids to cover quickly, just as in shock as he was. Your lack of response alarmed him and he turned to face you quickly, touching your shoulder. "Y/N, you're bleeding..."
"I know." You grunt weakly, taking a deep breath as you lean on Bucky to get up. "Let 's keep going."
You wiped the blood running from your nose with your hand, but ignored the wet sensation in your ears. Bucky hesitated.
"No, you're not okay." He insisted. "Let's go back..."
"Let go of me, Bucky." You exclaimed angrily, pulling his hands away. "I heal, don't I? I'll be fine. Let's keep going."
"Y/N..."
But you are already walking. You can feel all the injured, and you need to keep going.
You help at least two more groups to shelter, until you're resting your hands on your knees and trying to stay on your foot.
You see your blood dripping to the ground, and you hear Bucky's footsteps approaching, so you wipe your face quickly while disguising the way your head is spinning.
"This isn't working Y/N." He says as he looks around at the wreckage. "These things seem to grow out of the ground, and there's no end to them. The city is too high right now and these people have nowhere to go."
You were going to agree with him, but something in the sky caught your eye.
"I think that's their ride." You say while pointing straight ahead.
It's a gigantic ship, flowing alongside the city. You and Bucky exchange a look, before he uses the communicator to confirm that this was a good thing.
With Shield providing shelter for civilians, you started running to help evacuate people from the floating capital of Sokovia.
Your head was spinning, and your feet were about to give up, but you forced yourself to continue.
Your body is shaking when you turn to help a boy who cut his leg.
"Ty angel, devochka? (are you an angel, lady?)" He asks, scared when you heal him and you give a weak laugh.
"Net, ya Avenger. (no, I’m an Avenger.)"
The wound isn't that big, but it's enough to rob the air of your lungs. Bucky guides the boy with the rest of the group back to the ship, and you can barely stand, your stomach turning.
You force yourself to get up. Just a bit longer.
Lifting your hand to your ear, you call out to Wanda while leaning on the car beside you so you don't fall to the ground.
"Wands?" You say wait for her to respond. She sounds worried when she says your name, but you just sigh. "Babe, when this is over, I'm taking you out on a date. Like the cliches we've never done before, okay?"
"Why are you talking like this?" She asked, scared. You can hear the background noises, the way she was probably keeping the bomb safe but facing Ultron's army. "Where are you?"
"I think we should try Disneyland too. Americans seem to love that." You continue as you begin to walk again. One hand on the tech inside your ear and the other in the wound in your belly, formed while you faced the last horde of robots, not healing anymore. "You would like a candlelight date with wine and music, wouldn’t you?"
"Please tell me where you are, I'll come to you." She begs through the radio and you smile before hanging up.
You saw Clint run further to the town.
You take a deep breath, rushing to catch up. You also see the jet Ultron stole rounding the city towards them, the rifles outside ready to aim.
That's why Clint ran there, to save one of the civilians left behind, you notice as you see the little boy on your friend's arm.
You try to do what you did before. Project your healing magic to them to keep them protected, but as you lift your hands to do that, all you feel is a sharp twinge in the middle of your chest and you almost fall to the ground.
Fine, I'll heal them myself. You think impatiently as you ignore your own limit and run.
You are almost there. But so is Ultron. If you stay up front, you think you can protect Clint and the civilian, you'd heal later, no problem.
“I’m gonna win.”
You widen your eyes in surprise when Pietro whispers in your ear, disappearing in his speed the next moment.
No. Don't do this.
You feel the shots before you hear them. You feel it through Pietro's body, who stepped forward to protect Clint.
You throw yourself forward, desperate.
You reach Pietro the second his heart stops beating.
"Piete?" You call to him as he falls into your lap. You can feel the air disappearing from his lungs, life fading away "Hey buddy, don't do that. Pietro! Please..."
You bury your face in his chest, trying to hear something. Anything. You press your hands against his chest next, then his face.
"Don't die on me, Pietro." You beg with a sob. You force your magic in despair. No matter how much it hurts, Pietro cannot die. He just can't.
You can only remember the skinny little boy running with you in your childhood. Laughing with you on the roof. Teaching you to fight.
Your tears mix up with your blood.
"Captain, we have a problem." Clint announces at your side.
No.
I'm not giving up.
You grunt in pain as you press your hands hard on Pietro's chest, your veins popping with a golden light. You're not dying on me.
Something starts to pulse in your head. Loud enough to completely disorient you. Your eyes are heavy, and you choke on your own blood coming out of your mouth.
You smile because you can feel the air returning to your friend's lungs at the same rate as it leaves yours.
When Pietro breathes again, your eyes close.

Word: Pretence
Definition: A way of acting that is intended to deceive people.
Example: Saying that he's just a friend when he's really the love of your life.
Your POV
Being caught in the midst of war is something that I, (Y/N) (Y/L/N)  know all too well. As a war vet, former shield agent, and now Avenger I'm used to being centered amongst conflict. When the fight begins within me though, a battle between what I want and what I think is right, how will I react? Will I listen to my heart, my head, or will the winner be chosen for me?
Delacroix, Louisiana.....
I love my sleep, always have, always will. It's not necessarily the comfort of the bed, the quiet or even the rest. It's the fact that I'm at peace when I sleep. My life has a tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, so anything that will put that off for as long as possible I savor.
I wish it were the same for a certain super soldier in my life. I look forward to going to bed, everything calms down then, and for most people it's the same. For Bucky however, it's when everything starts, the nightmares, the terrors, the seemingly unending darkness. If only I could take his pain away like he has with mine.
For the last few weeks, my life had, for want of a better word, been hectic. Hectic to say the least.
After the eventual defeat of Thanos and the loses we endured as a result, I thought naively that life might calm down a bit, that I'd have time to breathe, to live. How wrong I was.
It all began with John Walker being announced to the world as the new Captain America.
I was baking cookies with Morgan in the Stark family kitchen when it came over the radio. As that latest turn of events sunk in, my first thoughts were of Bucky, what that would do to him. Not even an hour later I had said my goodbyes and was on my way to help him get the shield back.
Since then even more had happened. We'd regrouped with Sam, busted Zemo out of prison which in turn ruffled the feathers of Ayo and the Dora Milaje. We came face to face with Morgenthou and the Flag Smashers, and finally witnessed the man who thought he could even compete with Steve, make himself judge, jury and most significantly executioner.
After that went around the world we knew we had to end it sooner rather than later. It couldn't get much worse than Captain America becoming a murderer. We got the shield back, which was a fight all in itself. Handed Zemo over to Ayo, to try and recompense for the distrust we'd instilled in the people who'd helped us so much. Then we travelled to stay with Sam and his family in Louisiana whilst we waited for Karli's next move.
This is where we found ourselves now, in the eye of it, the calm before the storm.
Waking up in the Wilson households guest room, I was greeted to the golden hue of the rising sun penetrating through the single glaze windows, and the melodic sounds of gulls on the hunt for their morning meal down by the docks.
Actually, no that's not right. What I could hear was most certainly not birds, and it was definitely not melodic. What were those boys doing?
Quickly and quietly I threw on the first clothes I could get my hands on and made my way downstairs towards the noise. What caught my attention when I discovered the source, was not the two youngest Wilson boys playing with our newly reacquired shield in the living room, but the super solider who was blissfully ignorant to it all, sleeping peacefully on the couch in front of them. I don't think I'd ever been so happy.
"Right you two, if you're determined to play Avengers all morning then I suggest you re-assemble in the back yard. You're gonna wake Bucky up," I whispered out in one breath, stepping between the boys, then placing my hands on their backs and tip toeing them towards the door.
"So what if we wake him up? It's gone 10am," Cass questioned in protest, pulling on his sneakers and jacket.
"Exactly! Which is why if you do as I say, I will make you the biggest plate of waffles for breakfast that you've ever seen."
The boys eyes lit up. "Can we have ice cream with it? Mum never lets us have ice cream for breakfast, and I'm sure there's a tub of Stark raving hazelnuts in the freezer," AJ clapped in muted excitement. "Oh, for God's sake.....Yes. You can have whatever you want if you get out of this house now and keep the noise down."
Once the boys were outside, I made my way over to the kitchen, stopping on the way to lean over my favourite senior citizen and make sure that he was still peaceful in his slumber. He'd never looked so relaxed, so at ease. It was a brand new Bucky I'd never seen before, a Bucky that had my heart pounding for him even more than it normally did. Not that he knew any of that.
Half an hour later and up to my elbows in waffle mix, I failed to notice my new friend and host Sarah making her way to my side at the counter, the huge smile on my face not going unnoticed. "What's got you grinning like the Cheshire cat, like I need to ask?"
"Bucky's sleeping. Isn't it amazing?" I spoke softly, bouncing up and down on my feet as I did so.
"And why is that?" She couldn't looked more confused if she tried.
"In all the years I've known him, I don't think I've ever woken up before he has. If his nightmares don't keep him awake all night, they normally have him up before the crack of dawn. I don't think I've ever seen him so still."
"Good answer," Sarah nodded in a hush, understanding why this meant so much to me, but not done yet with her morning interrogations, "Now on to my next question......"
"I'm already not liking the sound of this."
"Sleeping Beauty over there follows you around like a little puppy dog. He hangs on your every word, looks at you like you hung the stars or something. It's pretty obvious how crazy he is about you, so when are you gonna stop pretending that you're not head over heels in love with him?"
"I don't know what you're talking about Wilson," I smiled forcefully, making out like the waffle maker deserved my attention way more than the conversation I was being made to have.
This was all Sam's doing, without a shadow of a doubt. He'd tried to have this conversation with me on multiple occasions and I shut him down every time. He obviously hadn't given up like I thought he did, and decided to draft in his sister. He is seriously gonna regret it when I find him.
"Sure you know what I'm talking about. Sam sees it, I don't even know you that well and I see it. The only reason Bucky doesn't, is because he doesn't believe he could ever be that lucky. You're a smitten kitten." These Wilson's are all as annoying as each other.
Knowing I wasn't getting out of this one, I grabbed Sarah by the arm and pulled her right into the corner of the room, trying my best to keep this convo as private as possible. "Look, I'm not pretending.....I'm ignoring. There's a difference."
"Care to explain what that difference is?" Sarah spoke softly, but with a sarcastic air.
Turning to look over my shoulder at the subject of our conversation, making sure he was still safely in the land of nod, I decided to just be honest. Sarah was much like her brother. Once she wanted to get to the bottom of something she wasn't about to give up.
"I love Bucky, more than I've ever loved anyone...and that terrifies me," the rawness of finally being honest making my voice shake, and tears come to my eyes. "Nat was like my sister, and she's dead. Tony was the closest I've ever gotten to having a Dad...and he's dead too. Then there's Steve, Vision, God knows where Wanda is....Everyone I love, either leaves or dies. If I admit my feelings for Buck then I face the risk of losing him too."
"Do you have any idea how crazy you sound right now? He's not going to die because you love him (Y/N)."
Silent tears were falling now. I was revealing my deepest fears to a woman I'd only known a few days, and I'm not underplaying it when I say it was like a colossal weight off my chest, a release I didn't know I needed. "Believe me...I know, but I can't take that risk. I can't lose anyone else, especially not him."
"Let's just say for a second that you're right, that there is some higher power somewhere, set on destroying everyone you love. Do you really think ignoring your feelings is going to make them disappear?" I didn't know what to say to that. "Natasha and Stark died so that everyone could continue living, and (Y/N) you're not living as long as you keep this to yourself. They wouldn't want that for you."
"But what if I lose him?" I whispered with a choked sigh.
"Then at least he'll die knowing how you felt about him. After everything he's been through don't you think he deserves to know there's someone out there who loves him like you do?"
"Of course..."
Sarah's lips pulled upwards in a satisfied smirk, wrapping her arm around my shoulder and giving it a comforting squeeze, "then you owe it to yourself, and to him, to tell him the truth."
"Why do all you Wilson's have to be so clever?" I voiced in mock irritation, pushing her away from me and acting like I was annoyed she had gotten one up on me.
"I don't know," she thought aloud and with a cheeky grin, grabbing a plate to start piling on the long forgotten waffles, "I think it might be the sea air or something."
"Nah, it's in the genes," I chuckled quietly, grabbing my jacket and deciding it was time to get this conversation wrapped up. "I'll go find Sam and the boys for breakfast. Clear my head a little bit."
"You promise you're gonna tell him?" Sarah stopped me as I went to push the door open.
"I'll think about it."
3rd person POV
Once (Y/N) was out of ear shot, Sarah couldn't help but start jumping up and down in excitement, clapping her hands loudly as she did so. That went even better than she thought it would, and she was so proud of herself. Sarah Wilson could now add matchmaker to her resume.
"Coast is clear Barnes. You can open your eyes now."
(Y/N) had no idea what she had metaphorically walked into just minutes earlier, entering that very revealing conversation with her overly inquisitive host.
What drew Sarah to come down that morning was the sounds of both the front porch door opening and the smell of homemade waffles wafting up the stairs. As she entered the kitchen she was met with two sights. One being (Y/N), facing the counter and looking very smiley, the other being a wide awake super soldier who was just laying on the couch and staring at her, the sole object of his affection. Sarah could work with this.
Every time (Y/N) turned back in his direction, Bucky would close his eyes and pretend to be asleep again. He had never slept so soundly, so peacefully, thoughts of (Y/N) and his new friends filling his nightmare free dreams.
He'd initially woken to (Y/N) ushering the boys outside because she was afraid they would wake him up. He didn't want to disappoint her by proving her right. Besides, he liked just watching her move around the kitchen, completely unaware he was observing her the whole time. He had no idea about the conversation that was just about to happen.
After (Y/N) had left and Sarah had confirmed so, Bucky sat himself up, his body shaking with adrenaline and a look of complete shock fixed on his face. Had he definitely woken up, or had the whole thing been a part of his dream? Did (Y/N) seriously just admit that she was in love with him?
Bucky didn't know how to react, didn't know what to say as he looked up at a smug Sarah from his spot. All he'd ever wanted was for (Y/N) to feel the same way about him as he did about her. Now he knew that she did.
"You're welcome by the way."

“Soldat, stoy”.
(Soldier, stop).
Your eyes widened. Your heart raced. The time froze. That command clicked something in your brain, producing the spheres of flames concentrated on your palms to dwindle till disappearing. You had just one second to look around you, before turning at the firm tone of voice behind your back. You found yourself in the middle of Times Square, surrounded by different security forces, aiming at you with large-caliber weapons. Above your head, two helicopters were setting up a perimeter. The chaos spread around the long avenue. You didn't have an idea of how you ended up there, but you were scared like never before.
Turning slowly, your eyes landed on a pair of pale blue orbs. You didn’t notice the other people as a backup. A feeling of safety invaded you when he tilted his head confused, narrowing his eyes, trying to understand how it was possible that you were there. But before you could take a step closer to him, a twinge followed by an electric cramp shook your body. The last thing you heard before blacking out was an I got you, and a cold arm wrapping your abdomen.

BUCKY'S POV
Avengers Compound
06:03 pm, New York
“How do you know it’s not a trap set by Hydra?” Steve asked, reclining himself on his seat at the meeting table next to the rest of the Avengers.
“Because I trust her”. Bucky didn’t doubt replying, although he couldn’t understand why, hearing Stark clicking his tongue as he rolled his eyes.
“James, you don’t know her”. Natasha sighed, referring to the fact that being assassins together years ago meant nothing.
“I trained her. She owes me loyalty”.
“What’s that? Some kind of Stockholm Syndrome patented by Hydra?” Clint scoffed incredulously.
“Tell us what you know about her, Bucky. What you remember”. The captain asked his long-life friend, leaning on the table with both forearms rested against the edge of it.
The soldier gulped, deeply breathing, nodding his chin with his eyes lost somewhere on the dark oak. He explained how Vasily Karpov knew about you. An orphan with no family, no history, and a power of telepathy that allowed you to control the four elements as you pleased. Water, fire, earth, and air. From nowhere, your body could produce flames and throw them anywhere. Exactly the same you could do with water and air. Earth was different. Only by using your hands you could wild it as you want; creating earthquakes or holes, move it. The heroes around Bucky were stupefied. You were a potential danger.
Then, he told them about your skills. Karpov made him stay awake after killing Tony’s parents to train her. You were just a kid. And soon, you were a soldier with an angelic face who could kill anyone just by blinking your eyes. To tell the truth, the Winter Soldier was everything you had in this life. You two worked together, hand-to-hand, for more than ten years until he disappeared. With him out of the game, Hydra continued experimenting with you to replace him. But they reached a point where you couldn't bear the pain, losing control completely.
“Let me talk with her, please”. Bucky begged, touring his eyes around the people there.
“It’s too dangerous”. Vision affirmed, taking a position close to Tony.
“She. Owes. Me. Loyalty”. He repeated almost hissing, pointing out every word with his silver forefinger poking the table.
“You have five minutes before the Government brings her to the Raft”. Rhodes sentenced, crossing his arms on his chest. “Five minutes”.
Escorted by Steve and Wanda, who was the only one there that could control you, Bucky went down to the third sublevel. When the soporific made its effect and knocked you out in the middle of Manhattan, the Avengers managed to take you to their compound.
You were still stoned, but conscious enough to know what was happening around you. Everything spun inside the bunker. Your head hurt like hell and you felt a knot within the pit of your stomach that made you want to puke your guts. As the heavy door proffered a loud noise being opened you retreated to the farthest corner, placing your knees to your chest and wrapping your legs with both arms. Again, you were shaking. Terrified. About to beg for your life.
“Soldat, otchet o missii”.
(Soldier, mission report).
Your breathing became erratic as if the air wasn't enough to fill your lungs. You were at the edge of your crying, raising your hidden face from the gap of your knees. The Winter Soldier was standing some feet away from you. No expression on his face, as always, but with the small difference of a slight inkling of concern. He also looked skinnier, shorter hair, a grown beard. He looked healthier, free.
“Net zadaniya”. You whispered with a broken tone.
(No assignment).
“Soldat, otchet o missii”. He repeated taking a step ahead, hardening his voice.
(Soldier, mission report).
The command made you gulp a sob. Wasn’t he believing you? How could you lie to him?
“Net zadaniya”. You replied with no hesitation, standing on your bare feet and sticking your back to the wall. “Missiya ne naznachena”.
(No assignment. No mission assigned).
You noticed he wanted to turn to his partners, but he didn't. The soldier kept eye contact, coming a little more closer, invading your personal space without caring. He tilted his head forward, trying to find the answers to his questions in your orbs. But they both were emptied with the sole exception of the horror invading your chest and reflected on them. You didn't want to come back. You wanted to be released from Hydra's chain. You weren't an assassin, nor a monster.
“I wa… I was looking for… you”. Babbling, you confessed, being the explanation for why your mind took you to that place in concrete.
“Why?”
“Because you are the only person I have”.
His eyelids narrowed for a second, scanning your intentions, feeling frustrated by not finding anything hidden beneath your words. “Otchet o missii, soldat”.
(Mission report, soldier).
“Net zadaniya, Sergeant Barnes”.
(No assignment).
It was the first time you pronounced part of his real name since you met him many years ago and you could listen to his heartbeat increasing. Before you blinked, his metallic hand grabbed your throat and pinned you against the wall, watching the fury and the rage taking control over his grimace. Glancing above his shoulder, a redhead woman stopped the blonde man known as Captain America. Your gaze focused again on the soldier, loosening slowly the grip on your skin.
“Why don't you remember me?”
The last thing you knew about him was that the man behind him brought back the memories of his past life. His real life. But he was still looking at you with hate and revulsion. Of course, the Winter Soldier was conscious of who you were. What he had forgotten was how he felt about you. He didn't reply to your question, walking backward to the exit, leaving you there. Alone. Again.

I bit my lip then got some courage and approached him slowly. Noticing he was still working on his new invention I had enough time to check my purse and took out a little box with blueberries .
I tapped his shoulder gently hoping I won't disturb him that much in that way and make him turn around without scaring him. "Tony" I giggled a bit then asked him almost childishly "Do you have some time for a picnic date?"
He furrowed his eyebrows then his gaze softened then answered with a small pout "Sure thing , princess. But I can't now-"
"Come on~ just a couple of hours then we'll get back and you can work again" I said putting the blueberries pack back in my bag then hugged him warmly.
"Wooah alright baby girl. I'm going to take a break in...hmm..two hours" He wrapped his arms around and held me tighter and I sighed "They won't be as fresh as now in two hours"
It was his turn to sigh and luckily this time he listened to me "We'll be quick then." I looked up at him with a smile "Don't look at me like that! I know what you're planning" He chuckled and scolded me a bit.
"As long as you agree, you don't mind my plan"I shrugged and he let me go "I'm going to have a shower and change."
"I'll get the blanket and the picnic basket" I said rushing when both of us went in opposite directions.
We were holding hands and he took the picnic basket without a warning, placing a soft peck on my lips. People weren't really paying attention but neither did I to his speech. It wasn’t like I couldn’t understand but I guess I wanted him to leave the work for at least a few hours yet he was too enthusiastic to stop him.
“Hey hey y/n are you ok?You didn’t come with any suggestion or idea and-”
I nodded and looked to find a place for us to put on the blanket and food. He suddenly went on silent mode and mostly helped me just with a few gestures and shy or perhaps a bit curious smiles.
Once he laid down on the blanket, I laid down next to him still letting the food in the basket “You know if you’re mad at me again you can tell me.” He whispered tracing his fingers in my hair and looked at the clear blue sky.
“I’m not..” I sighed and he pulled me closer to his side, moving his head towards me and lifting an eyebrow . ”I’m not mad Tony,I’m lonely..I miss the days when we had more…” I bit my lip thinking about the days mixed with playfulness, experiments and other types of experiments.
“Oh...” He lifted my chin and his doe eyes were cutely staring but the smirk lingering on his lips wasn’t as inoccent ”Well this is not my lab.I can’t teach you cool stuffs then fuck you on my desk after we finish cleaning. This is neither a private cabin where we can drink expensive wine and makeout on the couch while a movie plays in the background.Movie whch you already watched it with me three times before we get in a relatioship..and-”
“I get it!I get it!” I rushed to say and hid my face in the crock of his neck.
He laughed relaxed and rubbed my side gently ”Come on let’s not waste the food you brought and prepare and I’ll keep in mind that you still need me so often”His voice became much softer hiding how relieved he was because I wasn't tired of him even after so much time and I looked up at him barely letting a few words leave my mouth "Do you still-"
"Yes princess" Tony brushed his lips against the top of my head then kissed my hair softly.
I managed to grab the basket without moving much and he chuckled then let me grab the sandwiches and blueberries and of course the adorable salad , fruit juice. We relaxed enough to laugh and finish eating then cuddle close on the blanket. People moved around us but for a pretty long time which was surprising, no reporter appeared out of nowhere until of course, they appeared and we had to rush to go home.
I left the picnic basket on the island and started taking out the empty boxes and the dirty dishes to start cleaning them. I started humming and daydreaming a little when I felt Tony's arms wrapped around my waist and his lips softly pressing soft kisses on the back of my neck.
"Remember when you joined me in my lab for the first time?"
I chuckled knowing our first met wasn't exactly out of the fairytales "Yeah, you thought I'm some idiot that's ready to serve your coffee not that I'm here to work and I didn't want to work in your company with anyone else other than Tony Stark himself" I laughed and held to kitchen's island to support myself.
"They sent you directly to my lab because they were so annoyed because you never shared your work with them and kept insisting" Tony whispered and pressed another soft kiss on the back of my neck.
"Yeah...don't you have work to do? You told me we have to be quick with the picnic."
Ignoring my question he kept talking "And after 5 months of working on that project it was a complete success. To celebrate we forgot about the party, about the alcohol and you agreed to spend a night with me…"His lips were on the shell of my ear and softly let the tip of his tongue lick it. I shivered and kept listening to him closing my eyes under his following words "You were moaning my name... screaming it...a blessing after months of calling me "Tony" in various tones based on your level of annoyance"
I chuckled "Well, I called you "professor" once and-"
"And you weren't even serious about it…"He cut me off and grinded himself against my back. I let out a soft moan and started explaining myself "You don't need that type of glasses to be hot but it was a nice change"
"You didn't seem to embrace it at all"
"I did "embrace" the look though. " I whispered and moved my hands on the picnic basket pretending I still had to check something inside it.
"How about you join one of my classes then? For a day you'll be my little student too"He purred and I was already excited about the idea. Oh how sexy he would expect for me to dress for his class while I'll be more decent and quiet than his most quiet student.
"That sounds great, Tony. I grab a notebook and a pen too." I moved the basket away and he turned my head towards him.
"You don't-"
"Oh I'm just the quiet student type"I smiled softly still thinking about my wicked plan.
"If you'll still get turned on by everything I do then I don't mind"He whispered and let his hand travel on my thigh and let go of my chin.
Moving my hand over his , I slowly moved it between my legs.
He chuckled against the back of my neck and started kissing it softly while slowly rubbing my clothed core. I let out another soft moan and gripped the island.
"Princess... leave these for later"He started placing kisses along my neck and I closed my eyes sighing. He slowly turned me around and I opened my eyes just for a few seconds then closed them again as we kissed. His lips were softly pressed against mine but his hands moved on my hips then on my back "Jump sweetheart" He whispered against my lips and I did as I was told wrapping my arms around his neck and legs around his waist. He trembled for a few seconds and I pulled back "Tony let me down you're still tired…"I whispered and rubbed his cheek.
"No no I can carry my princess"He smiled a bit nervously but he managed to do as he said while I pressed soft kisses against his neck. His soft moans were muffed as he kissed my shoulder in order to be as quiet and quick as possible on our way towards our bedroom
He laid me down on my back on the bed and traced his fingers on my cheek"How long has it been since the last time I caressed your body?" There was a hint of guilt and worry in his eyes but instead of answering I pulled him closer and kissed his lips deeply.
"Tony" I moaned his name against his lips when he moved his hand between my legs again. He took my pants and rubbed his fingers against my underwear.
"Looks like I can still-" He smirked under my whimpers but I managed to pull him back closer and lift my hips to grind on his fingers.
"Yes you can still do this to me but please…"I whimpered again when he swiped his thumb over my clothes clit as well.
"Shh I'll be careful…"He whispered and took my underwear off slowly down on my legs then kissed my inner knee and let his lips softly move on my inner thighs while his hands kept my legs spread.
"Please…" I moaned softly and whimpered again trying to lift my hips again.
"I'm here princess...no need to look for me anywhere else"He kept moving his lips on my inner thighs while his fingers moved closer to my core. I shivered and begged silently just with my eyes and biting my lip. "Right here…"He whispered against my skin just when he pushed his finger inside me and I moaned his name again. He pushed it deeper and added a second one scissoring me inside faster than I expected while he kept going with his trail of kisses.
"Tony... Tony...To-" He pulled them out then pushed back in and curled them against my point making me moan loudly.
"You're close..I can feel your walls convulsing around my fingers baby… how much I missed the sound you let out under my touch"He whispered the praises against my lower lips, his hot breath getting me even closer. He curled his fingers a few more times and I came over them while holding the sheets.
Pulling them almost immediately he licked them clean and caught my lower lips between his sucking them slowly.
"Fuck"I cussed loudly and his lips moved quickly on my clit sucking it a bit harsher than my lower lips while his hands kept my legs spread again. He licked around my lacking hole quickly but as soon as he pushed his tongue inside me his phone started ringing…
"Sir, it's a call from the principal" The well known A.I announced the moment Tony ignored the phone and focused on eating me out instead.
"Tell him to call me tomorrow"Tony said in an annoyed yet hoarse voice looking up at me while I was already begging him to finish what he started.
"You've been asked to teach the students at 8 p.m , Sir. You mentioned it's something that it's easier to see at night time. "
"Shit...the students and their- what time is it now?"
"8:16 p.m"
"Let them know I'll be there at 8:30. Don't mention why"
"Said and done, Sir"
"I better have you this wet when I'm back" He whispered and sucked my clit one more time before he pulled away completely from me.
"Tony don't leave- fuuuck"
"What did you say? You won't?" He came back closer before he could find his jacket and pulled my clit and rubbed it between his fingers.
"I will...I...what about you?"I said between heavy breaths and panting after I came again and he just collected as much as he could and licked it off his fingers.
Tony chucked knowing I was talking about his hard on "I'll be fine as long as I know I'll have you when I'm done" He put on his suit and grabbed a few napkins but I was already done cleaning myself and tried to get back my clothes in order to follow him to "his classroom".
"Yeah and I'll accompany you too" I trembled a bit but still managed to get closer to him and fix his bowtie.
"I don't think so...maybe at the next time"He whispered and looked in my eyes but bit his lip and I knew he was way too excited about the idea.
"Actually this time…"

“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” you were running across the road to jump into a cab that was available. Your phone hadn't been charging all night as you thought it had which caused you to wake up forty-five minutes before the start of the interview. You need this internship before you graduate from Empire State and get your degree in robotics.
On the way there, you nearly got car sick as the driver took sharp turns and nearly ran past intersections seconds before they became red. Once in front of Hammer Industries, your heels clicked loudly as you ran inside the tall building. You checked in with the front desk and took the elevator up to the 10th floor.
Just as you arrived, Justin Hammer was calling your name. “I'm right here!” you nearly tripped on your heels and your breaths were short.
“I've called your name three times, do you understand what that makes you look like, correct?” Justin stood unphased as you stood up straight and tried to steady your breath. “All these people are on time. Some of these folks have been here for hours, even.”
“Yes, sir. I’m so sorry–”
“Shame, I really liked your resume and your report on the expansion of nano-technology. Try again next year, maybe.” Justin started to call out the next participant and when she got up you stepped in front of her, “Please Mr. Hammer, I need this internship or I can't graduate.”
The people in the waiting room had their eyes on the two of you, tension so thick that it was almost hard to breathe. “Then maybe you should have come on time,” he pushed you aside to let the next person in to interview. You quickly ran back out and spoke to no one all the way home. Your eyes and cheeks were aching as you held in the tears during your Uber ride. The driver wanted to ask if you were okay, but if you were to break down in his car he’d probably be stuck having to listen to what happened and if he was honest with himself, he didn't actually care.
Once you got to your apartment, you made a straight line to the kitchen. “Hey, how’d the interview go?” MJ, your roommate, asked while still looking at her computer. You reached into the freezer for your emergency ice cream pint, snatched a spoon and walked into your room without saying anything. “That bad, I guess,” MJ said to herself.

You sat with MJ and Ned in the cafeteria, but had not touched any of the food on your plate. Your head was laid on the steel table and you just continuously groaned. “I’m a failure,” you whined.
“No, what you are is fucking dumb,” MJ commented as she ate.
“Thanks, Michelle, that makes me feel so much better,” you looked up to glare at her before laying her head back down. Ned felt bad that his friend was in despair, “How come you didn't ask Peter for help?”
“Huh?” you lifted your head back up some of your hair falling onto your face.
“Yeah, Peter already works at Stark Industries, why didn't you just ask him to get you in? You could even skip the internship altogether and be in full time,” Ned suggested. You gave it some thought, but something about it didn't sound right.
“No, I don't want to bother Peter. I don’t want him to think that I’m only calling him for a job,” you sighed. Ned texted Peter anyways. Unexpectedly, Peter texted him back immediately.
“He says it’s fine,” Ned showed you his phone to read the text. ‘Yeah man, tell her to come in tomorrow and Ms. Potts will interview her’
You let out a deep breath you didn't know you were holding and pulled out your phone.
‘Thank you so much for helping me out’
(…)
‘No problem, anything for a friend’

The Stark Industries building was huge. It almost looked taller than the Empire State Building, and maybe it actually was. Your legs were shaking as you stared up at it. “Here goes nothing,” you assured yourself.
The lobby was bustling with people; workers walking around, a group of kids that seemed to be here on a field trip, and some teens taking pictures in front of one of Mr. Stark's Iron Man suits.
The trip up to the 17th floor was crowded with people as more and more entered in every passing floor. You had to squeeze yourself out and accidentally stepped on someone’s foot in the process.
Looking around, your jaw dropped. It was an open laboratory with groups of people putting together small robots, flying drones, and people laughing and talking. It was such a fun and cool looking environment, you wondered why you didn't just apply here in the first place.
Pepper Potts spotted you walking around and approached you with a tap on your shoulder. “Hi, I’m Pepper. You must be Y/N,” she reached her hand out to shake yours which you accepted. “Hi, nice to meet you.”
“Peter’s told me a lot about you. Come, follow me,” Pepper’s office had glass walls and a view of New York from behind her desk. You weren't particularly fond of heights, but even you would love to have an office view like that. Pepper gestured to the chair in front of her as she smoothed her dress to sit in hers. “So, I see here that you had an interview at Hammer’s. Can I ask why you chose them?” You didn't even know how they got that information. You hadn't seen or spoken to Peter in quite a while, so how Pepper knew that was beyond you. You sat there with your lips moving to say something but nothing was coming out.
Pepper seemed to have caught on what you were thinking and elaborated, “Before I do any interviewing, I do full background checks on everyone.” She had a gentle smile which made you feel better. You thought she would scold you or something considering the question did more than catch you off guard.
“My mother used to work there for a long time and I figured that I would follow,” you explained. Pepper nodded her head and wrote some notes down. She looked onto her computer and looked at everything there was about you. “Well, I see here that you have exceptional grades. 4.7 GPA since you started school and your paper on nano-technology has gotten much praise. I think even Tony read it.” No way. The Tony Stark read my paper? “So tell me, do you see yourself working here at Stark Industries?”
You looked outside and watched everyone in the open lab again. “Yes.”
“Then that’s all I need to hear. We’d love to have you here,” she reached over to shake your hand. You looked at her surprised and hesitantly shook hers. “Welcome to the team, Y/N.”
“Thank you so much!” You cupped her hand with both of yours and shook it a little too quickly, but she didn't seem to mind. You were ecstatic to start your path to your career, and at a dream place at that.
:。・:*:・゚’★,。・:*:・゚’☆:。・:*:・゚’★,。・:*:・゚’☆:
Your alarm rang at the time you set it to, but there was no need for it. You couldn't sleep all night. Today is your first day of your internship and you were feeling so many things at once. Excited, nervous, happy, scared…
You tried to restrain yourself to a light breakfast, but MJ’s pancakes were to die for that you ate two whole stacks. You looked through your closet just about fifteen times; you had already picked an outfit the following night with the help of MJ, but when you put it back on, you hated it. It sucked for your roommate seeing as she had to sit through you changing from eight other outfits.
You tried to picture the lab again to see how other people dressed for a better idea to base it on your outfit choice. From what you remember, it was pretty casual, so that’s what you stuck to.
You were given your pass the day you were hired, so you had no issue walking inside. The elevator was just as packed as it was last time, but you were more composed so there were no toes being stepped on this time. You weren't exactly sure as to where you had to go, so you looked around to see if there were other interns to ask where to start.
“Y/N!” Peter’s voice surprised you from behind. Your shoulders jumped a bit, but relaxed at the view of his face. His face… you actually hadn't seen him for quite a while. Months, maybe. His jawline was more defined, and his once floppy hair was styled neatly. You tried to not look him up and down, but the temptation was definitely there. And the other thing, his voice was deeper than you last remembered. Is this really Peter Parker? “Hey, Peter.”
He gave you a hug that nearly made you lose breath. He was stronger than you remembered. A memory flashed back to when you were in junior high; you, Ned and Peter were hanging around the local park and you beat Peter on rounds on the monkey bars. He gave up after a couple bars, but you went back and forth a couple times. ‘Show off.’ But now, he had muscles that the shirt he was wearing hugged his biceps.
The hug was quick, and you had to pretend that he didn't just squeeze some life out of you. “Do you work on this floor?”
“Yeah, you’re actually assigned to work with my team. Come, I’ll show you around.” He started walking and you noticed how his posture changed. Damn, I know it hasn't been this long since I've seen him. Why does he look so different? He was wearing trousers. Trousers? Peter hates trousers. But his ass is looking great–
“Hey guys, this is Y/N. She’s going to be working with us as an intern. And I'll say this beforehand, no she's not going to be taking coffee or lunch orders,” Peter introduced you. There were various aged people in this group. Some were your age, and one person looked to have been in his thirties. Peter is in charge of this group? They all said ‘hi’ to you and went around introducing themselves.
Once that was finished, Peter pulled a chair for you on the table. “You’ll take notes for me while I give this presentation,” he whispered to you before walking in front of the table and started writing on the clear glass board.
He was talking quickly and didn't stumble over his words like he used to. Everyone was listening to him attentively and you jotted notes down as quickly as you could. Every now and then, you would steal glimpses of him and feel a sort of… well you felt something. Amazement? Inspiration? Adoration?
No doubt was Peter one of the smartest people you've ever met and here he was leading his own team and making potential products for Stark Industries at such a young age. Seeing him at work was so… it was indescribable to you but all you could think of was how different he is now. In a good way, of course.
Peter Parker has been your friend for years and to see him change from a bumbling, shy, adorable nerd into a confident, intelligent working man attracted you.
When you got home, you thought a lot about your first day. Being an intern at Stark Industries was really fun, so far. You weren't expected to do silly things like get coffee or lunch for everyone or pick up someone’s dry cleaning. You actually learned something and even had your opinions heard on some of the things that Peter suggested for his team’s upcoming product presentation.
If this is what it's like to be an intern, you couldn't imagine what it would be like working full time.
“How'd it go?” MJ stuck her head in your room. “It was fun. I'm working with Peter,” you explained your day to her.
“Cool,” was the last thing she said before she went to her own room for the night.
:。・:*:・゚’★,。・:*:・゚’☆:。・:*:・゚’★,。・:*:・゚’☆:
In the past few months, your internship at Stark’s has been going swimmingly. Everyone's been so nice, and the work is so fascinating. You've gotten closer with Peter and along the way, he felt like he was more than a friend and boss to you.
Currently, everyone was getting ready for their final presentations for the upcoming annual Stark Industries Convention. It was going to be Peter’s first year presenting his own project with his team and you were so excited to be a part of it.
The time you’ve spent with Peter was really fun. He was a good mentor and a great friend. The only thing was that you couldn't help but look at him a little too long, and you’ve found yourself thinking about him during your classes or doing your homework. The shy boy from Midtown High was no more, replaced– no, grown into the Peter you know now. But you pushed all feelings aside to focus on your next thesis paper and mock-up of the handout brochures of Peter’s project.
Sometimes, you didn't even feel like an intern as Peter would ask for any ideas you had to make the project better and even let you help with assembly. He stayed true to his words and you’ve never once had to run for coffee or things like that. There’d be times when you would study some of the little parts under a magnifying glass and he’d come up slightly behind you and explain about some of the bits on the working table.
And every time he did that, your breath would be stuck in your throat and you’d have to remind yourself that this was just Peter helping you out and you’re just learning. But it was normal to want more every now and then… right?
:。・:*:・゚’★,。・:*:・゚’☆:。・:*:・゚’★,。・:*:・゚’☆:
The convention was just a few days away and you had trouble finding something to wear. These events were usually black tie events, but did that mean the presenting teams as well? Wouldn't that be uncomfortable?
One of the guys on your team, Richie, sat with you during lunch and talked about how he was probably going to wear the same suit as always. Not because he couldn't afford a new suit, but he was just a simple person and he only wears it once a year for the conventions and that’s all, so it’s still in mint condition.
The girls on your team and some from others were going dress shopping the day before and invited you to join. You were excited mainly because now you don't have to bother MJ for it.
Speaking of MJ, you were going to ask her to come with you. Pepper sent out the electronic invitations to everyone in the company and authorized plus ones to even interns. She’s never been to one – for reasons you were still confused about – but you wanted your best friend to be there for you. And if not MJ, then you bet Ned would still come with you. Wait, what if he’s going with Peter?
On cue, Peter had sat in the chair next to yours in the small break room, “Hey, Y/N.”
“Oh, hey Pete. You excited for Saturday?” Peter quietly stirred his coffee and gave you a small smile, “Uh, yeah. I’m nervous, but I’ve worked really hard on this. And everyone, too. Including you.”
You slightly blushed. I didn't do all that much you thought. You two just sat there taking small sips from the hot, bitter beverage.
“So… I wanted to ask you something,” Peter started.
“Mhm?” The coffee nearly slipped past your lips. You quickly grabbed a napkin to lightly dab some of it off of your lips.
“Well, as you know, we can bring anyone with us to the convention,” he trailed off.
“Yes?” Is he going to…
“And I wanted to know if you were bringing MJ with you.” Oh. You nodded your head and thought you hid your disappointment well but without knowing, Peter actually caught it for a split second. “Good. You can come with me,” he smiled and stood up.
You were in awe; without effort, Peter just asked you to be his date for Saturday.
:。・:*:・゚’★,。・:*:・゚’☆:。・:*:・゚’★,。・:*:・゚’☆:
“Dude, how are you not ready yet? He’s gonna be here any minute,” MJ sat at her computer per usual working. Your music was too loud for her taste playing from your shared bathroom. Peter said he would pick you up at 7, and it was currently 6:50.
You had put on and removed your make-up at least five times. Something was always wrong; one of the wings would either be thicker than the other, the blush would be the wrong shade, or the lipliner kept going out of place. But, alas, you finally nailed it.
Your hair was styled half up with elegant curls and braids. In between some braids were little bits of baby’s breath flowers. Most likely, you were going to have a hard time taking those out but they looked cute and it was too late to take them out.
Your dress was right above your knee and flowed comfortably so you wouldn't have a hard time walking. It was a neutral taupe color and had a V-line that ended just above cleavage and hugged the curve of your waist. You paired it with simple black heels and a small, white handbag.
“He’s here,” MJ informed you.
“Okay,” you took a deep breath, “what do you think?” You spun around and held your arms out. “You look really pretty. Now go get ‘em. I’ll watch it on the live stream.” She gave you a lazy thumbs up and resumed her work.
Outside was Peter in an all-black apparel. His dress shirt had only one button undone, and he had a loose blazer that accentuated the dip of his shoulders. He stood against the limo with his hands at his sides. God, he’s gonna be the death of me.
When he caught sight of you, he had a flirtatious smirk on his lips and held out for your hand. “Peter, where’d this limo come from?”
“Mr. Stark set it up for me,” he stated like it was no big deal. Must be nice being his favorite. He held the door for you to climb in and closed the door behind him. “We’re ready, Happy,” he told the driver. Happy rolled his eyes, closed the window and drove off.
The convention was off to a great start; Tony Stark came in with his suit as he always loved to do and started introductions before everyone else scattered around to look at the projects of the many departments in his company. Some groups of certain departments had large stages, some had small stands, like Peter’s.
There were still large crowds coming to see the smaller presentations, and everyone seemed to be fascinated with Peter's. You stood on the side as his team operated the machine and Peter spoke. He looked confident and it was mesmerizing to watch him.
After the night was over, all employee’s and some guests were brought back to headquarters for the after party. You walked around with Peter and had flutters in your heart every time he held the small of your back. The most exciting part of the night was meeting Tony Stark in person. He greeted Peter warmly, and then his eyes landed on you, “Peter, who’s this?”
“Oh, this is Y/N. She’s a friend of mine,” he gestured for you. You shook Tony’s hand and stood starstruck. “The one you don’t shut up about?” Pepper hit his shoulder and laughed nervously.
“Wait, I’ve heard about you. Buddy of mine works at Empire State and he showed me your paper, it was really good.” You were still shocked that he had even read it and here he was talking to you about it. You went back and forth talking about nano-technology.
On the way home, you and Peter talked and laughed about things you told him as you caught him up to what was happening on campus when he couldn't be there. It was a really fun night, and Peter was more noticeably relaxed now that the hard part was over. “Alright, home sweet home,” Happy announced through the window.
“Well, that’s me,” you smiled sadly, not wanting the night to end. You reached to open the door but Peter climbed out from his side. He walked around to open your door and just like he did earlier, held his hand out for you to grab and assist you out the limo. What was different this time was that he kept his hand in yours as he walked you to the door of the apartments. “I had a great time with you tonight,” Peter confessed.
“Me too,” your voice was soft and low for only him to hear. Peter’s eyes switched from looking into yours to your lips before he grabbed your face with both hands and kissed you. The kiss was needy, passionate, but had a certain gentleness to it. Once he felt you kiss him back with the same fervor, he deepened the kiss and brought one hand to pull your waist closer to him.
You pulled apart to regain your breath and looked to admire his swollen lips and he copied the same notion. He leaned in to give you a gentle kiss and pulled away, “Good night, Y/N.”
“Good night, Peter.” Your cheeks were flushed and your face was warm. You watched him as he left and ran inside. Upstairs in your apartment, you found MJ and Ned sitting on the couch with a bag of chips in each of their hands.
“Good night?” Ned asked. You just nodded and walked slowly to your room.
“We saw the whole thing, by the way,” MJ said nonchalantly. You looked back to glare at your best friends, Ned smiling innocently at you and MJ keeping her straight face.
You changed into your pajamas and laid on your bed on your back, looking up at the ceiling. You couldn't wait to go back to work on Monday.

"Do you have one of the Parasites like your dad used to have?" asked Mrs. Chen the girl who paid for the snacks, eyes wide she shook her head in disagreement before stepping out of the store
PARASITE?!
"it's not my fault, dad used to call you that man just don't kill her she can give us a lot of free food you know and you can have extra brains when they always rob her poor store?" "Fine, we'll let it slide" "what do you wanna do?" "We can do whatever WE want" chuckling slightly she nodded making her way upstairs to the rooftop, sitting at the edge with venom beside her they both ate the Pack of chocolate in silence, sure, she was terrified finding out about a symbiote living inside her body just like her father after protecting herself from some scientist, but for these past years she got used to it and they were more like best friends and if something happened to Venom it's like happening to her.
𝙁𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠-
Making her way toward the bathroom, attempting to hide from those Men but a voice inside her head made her scream in fear, hiding inside one of the stalls she stared into nothing but emptiness staying quiet as if a serial killer was following her, shaking in fear she tried not to sob out loud by putting her hand on her mouth a drop of a tear falling to the ground as the 10-year-old girl cried in silence with her hands still shaking, the sound of the bathroom stalls being slammed open made her heart stop beating as she started praying for her life, she was going to die that's for sure.
The next thing she knew was the lock breaking and her being pulled harshly by 2 men, screaming in fear she tried biting their hands off but the guns aimed in her head was worse, in a blink of an eye black tentacles came out of her arms and stabbed both of them in the heart, a pool of blood surrounded her as she watched in fear at what she has just done, she just killed two men trying to kidnap her, blood on her white shoes and arms as she tried to open the door and make her way out of this hell hole, but it was the same thing instead this time a group pointed their guns at her as she looked around in search of a place to run away, giving up she sat on the ground putting her hands in the air as told letting the 'police' handcuff her, she's just a 10-year-old girl what possibly could she do?
"mom! please I am begging you to tell them to let me go, we were supposed to be having a girls' night! I promise I didn't kill those men something came out of my arm and-" she couldn't finish her words, Tears welled from deep inside and coursed down her cheeks as she begged her mother for help with a high pitched voice, Anne on the other side stared at her with a guilty look before shaking her head, staring at her in disbelieve she was brutally pulled by the handcuffs away giving her mother one last look.
Did she stay in an Asylum for 8 years without seeing her 'mother' and outside? yes sadly she did, did she get out of the asylum once? no, she never did and that was driving her crazy she was the only one in here and everyone was afraid of her, this place wasn't like any other asylum they brought people with superpowers here, like Eleven from stranger things except Mery didn't have Telekinesis she had Venom.
Sitting in the chair defeatless with an emotionless look on her face, her hands tied to the table, as always, she stared at Anne straight in her eyes "Mery-" "hey doctor, can you please open these handcuffs and let me go back to my room before I do something?" she finally said looking straight into the camera about to transform into the big giant monster when a syringe was on her neck preventing her from doing so, 'how dare she says my nickname' she thought looking straight into her eyes after 8 years of not seeing each other how would you feel and how can she still manage to say her nickname, especially when your own mother is the reason you're looked in here "I Hate you and you don't deserve to be called a mother!" she yelled out struggling from their grip, black tentacles came out of her back as she grabbed every single scientist killing them with no mercy, "Venom, let's get the hell out of here" her voice deadly as she spoke "Copy, you're the boss" just as Anne described she looked just like her father, huge teeth, white eyes, and a long tongue.
𝙀𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙛𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠-
"Don't open that door"
"Bitch, Don't order me to do something because you will die waiting?" she said with the usual level of sarcasm before taking off her apron making her way toward the door, what was shitty about this house was it didn't have a peephole, rolling her eyes she opened the door staring at the group in front of her "May I help you?" asked the girl in confusion to why the Avengers are in front of her apartment with a raised eyebrow the Black haired girl was about to close the door when black widow finally said a word after 10 seconds of silence "we need to talk to you?" "Listen, I don't have time to deal with superhero shit I've had enough" "please?" sighing she pushed the door fully letting them in sitting on the couch in front of them with her legs crossed "what?" "Can you introduce us to who you were talking to?" asked Captain America looking at her, raising her eyebrows once again, it was a habit sometimes she bites her nails "were you listening to us the whole time?" "no-" "Jesus, y'all are so famous and busy with superhero shit to the point where you don't understand a joke, Venom can you come out please?" annoyed, a black face appeared beside hers, that was the Parasite living inside her body?
"don't touch it, everyone this is Venom my best buddy and a parasite living inside my body, Her favorite food is brains and chocolate and we both kill robbers every day" putting a fake smile on her face she could see the look on their eyes, Bruce wanting to touch it so badly but stopped when Meryam sent him a look of disagreement, "alright this it, you guys can go, it was lovely meeting you, y'all are awesome superheroes and bye-bye!" "would you like to come with us we need your help, please?" asked Thor holding his hammer, glancing at Venom they both nodded at the same time, they were partners in crime anyways.
"We will but I'm coming alone, see ya at the Tower!" smiling she slammed the door shut
"Can you imagine Thor the god of thunder asking me to come with them, that is awesome right?" "not as awesome as us" nodding with a grin she grabbed her pocket knife charging the gun just in case tying her hair into a bun, putting on the mask Meryam grabbed the bag making her way out of the room.
"Hey miss Chen came to have some supplies?" stated the girl making her way toward the snack session she was probably the only customer here, the threatening sound of another robber echoed around the store as he pointed his gun at the poor woman, "That guy?" "yes bestie, free food for you tonight?" she said making her way toward the man, grabbing his wrist she punched him straight in the jaw, "Mask!" in a blink of an eye the same monster Mrs. Chen saw a long time ago was in front of her expect it was a woman, and that woman was Eddie Brock's daughter, Biting his head off she paid for the snacks before making her way out "night, thanks for the free snack!"
(venom ate the man, duh)
"This walk is boring!" "I know but we're almost there don't worry" "I Miss the Loser" "yeah, same he was the best dad" "and best Host, you both are the best" "aw thanks Venom you're the best too" a soft smile rose on her lips, The world was a better place when she smiled to Venom and he promised to Eddie he would keep her safe, thank god, she had her earphones on so people wouldn't call her crazy for talking by herself, "Jesus how many floors in this Tower?" "93"
"Excuse me is Tony Stark here, he said I can meet him here?" politely asking the blonde woman who was holding a little girl in her hand she took off her mask not to scare her, they didn't seem to recognize her right? "She's probably his wife" the voice of the symbiote echoed around her head as she nodded, "oh yes you must be Meryam, you seem kinda Familiar?" the blonde woman asked her, her heart stopped beating as soon as she said the last words, "o-oh really, who?" "oh never mind, you're so pretty by the way, I should probably go take Morgan to sleep Tony is having a meeting with the rest and they're waiting for you" "Yeah thank you?" "Pepper call me Pepper dear" nodding she waved at the little girl who had a cute smile on her face before making her way to where Pepper pointed
"Hey Old man, you wanted to meet us?" the same sound they heard 30 minutes ago echoed around the room earning their attention, chuckling at how startled they looked Meryam tried to hold her laugh while Venom was grinning evilly on the other side, "Ahh miss Brock come in" "it's Meryam, Anthony" okay that surely got him annoyed she could see how he rolled his eyes, sitting down on one of the chairs she looked around greeting the rest with a straight look.
"Tell us more about yourself?" not wanting to tell them her whole story, she shook her head with an emotionless look on her face "there's nothing more to know about me, I lived 13 years alone that's it, my life is useless anyways I only have Venom and kill robbers nothing more interesting?" one thing they learned about her was how fast she changed her emotions, 5 seconds ago she was trying not to laugh and now a deadpan look on her face. Pietro didn't trust her, not even a single bit and that was why a glare was attached to his stupid face
"So Meryam we're going to be on a mission for these past days and since you have nothing to do, you're going to catch the robbers around the city and take Morgan to school" tearing her gaze away from Pietro who was still glaring she blinked slightly trying to process what he just said, "excuse me, am I getting paid for that?" "yes" "fine, I'll do it, and will you stop glaring at me like I am some target?" her Black eyes met his as she spoke with gritted teeth's, anger rushing through her body Wanda slapping his shoulder before apologizing to her "I am so sorry Meryam-" "it's alright Wanda don't apologize in his place, he just needs to stop and do it all by himself if he's a true man, good night everyone" with that she made her way out of the place trying to calm her nerves down
Anger Issues
"Ohh she got you good" Teased Sam the twin who was still fuming in anger, rage thrummed through his veins as he swallowed down his frustration sending him a harsh look, "shut up birdy" with that he was out of sight just before Clint could say something
"oh these two are not going to be friends or work together, it's probably something worse"

thank u, next (ft. loki)

Summary: A new team member in the group shakes things up for the super soldier.
Or: In which Steve casts you aside for a Carter only to regret his decision when he sees you with the God of Mischief.

"Yeet."
Swiveling your chair, you saw the empty pint of ice cream hit garbage can, bouncing off the rim and dropping on the floor with a light thump. You looked at Tony, shaking your head. "You've been hanging out with Peter too much."
"Why, thank you." Tony replied, smirking at you. "So, tell me, you sexy vixen, how do you feel with Thor bringing Loki? You were quiet during the whole argument that almost ended with Barton ripping out his eye."
You shrugged, the heels Tony had bought earlier drawing your attention to your feet. "I'm fine. I don't really care, I mean, I wasn't with you guys when New York happened so I don't really think I get to have an opinion about whether the mind-controlled God of Lies gets a spot in the team."
"You realize your on the team, right? I'm pretty sure your opinion matters especially with the mass murderer joining." Tony replied, accidentally hitting himself with the candy cane in his hands. "I really thought you were going to side with Cap on this one. You always do."
It wasn't a secret that Steve Rogers wasn't completely on board with the plan. That was pushing it; in other words: Steve Rogers despised the plan. If he could kill it, he would've. When Thor had proposed the plan to bring Loki on the team (a punishment from Odin himself)—trying to convince everyone he was "good" now—less than a handful had let him continue speaking. The rest wanted to riot. You had just sat there, a smirk on your face as you watched the six of them fight with each other while Fury shook his head, looking like a disappointed father.
When everyone had came to an agreement on Loki's trial period, there had been pages of rules on what he was restricted on doing including magic and stabbing. Of course, it was very specific so even the God of Mischief couldn't find a loophole. Maybe he could if he tried, which he probably will.
Clicking your tongue, you shrugged, ignoring the little pang in your chest. "Not on this. I'm smart enough to see that there's more reward than risk to have Loki on the team. For example: he's not bad to look at."
Tony choked on his candy cane, coughing up a large piece. With wide eyes, he studied you in silence, trying to figure out if you had been joking. "Are you serious? We should bring you to Helen so you can get your head checked. There's a chance you might have a concussion from the last mission."
"You have eyes, you can see how regal he is despite not genuinely being born royal. And those cheekbones..." you trailed off, biting your lip at Loki's handsome features. Tony raised an eyebrow, slowly shaking his head. "Not that his perfect bone structure justifies all the people he's killed. I'm just very observant being an avenger and all."
"Uh-huh, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure." Tony mumbled, leaning back on his chair, his eyes narrowing after your confession. "Ms. Natalia Romanoff didn't get the chance to tell me what happened between you and old Capsicle."
Rolling your eyes, you spun around in your chair, facing away from the nosy billionaire. "There's not that much to tell. We talked, we liked each other, then the sun came up and reality set in as the form of Sharon Carter. It didn't take long for him to ditch me to go for Peggy's niece. Anyways, been there, done that. People change."
"You're not the same girl I met." Tony stated. "On that note, Rogers' old brain is still defrosting and he's getting older so I don't think he knows how stupid he is...yet."
"And I'm not going to wait for him to find out." you muttered, a loud sound coming from the big yard. Looking through the garage window, you saw the blinding light before two figures in different colored capes appeared, the blinding light ruining the fresh-cut grass. Beaming at Tony, you got up. "Want to plan a party with me?"
"You say that like I'd have the ability to say no. Tonight?" Tony replied, grinning at thought of loud electronic dance music and booze.
Getting up, the stilettos clicked on the floor, your perfect pedicure peeking through the hole. Smiling, you walked towards the door. "Well, we are in the presence of two Gods. I think it's only fair we celebrate like it."
"I'm putting Party in the USA on the track-list!"
Rushing to the lawn where the rest of the team gathered, your mood was lightened by the sight of the golden haired retriever in disguised as a jacked God. Ignoring the others, you threw yourself at Thor, the God of Thunder catching you, arms tightening around your body. You let out a breathless laugh, momentarily forgetting your idiotic plan to avoid Steve. "Thor!"
Thor guffawed, lifting you off the ground, shouting your name in glee before letting you breathe again. "My favorite avenger! Miss me?"
"Duh." you responded, glancing at Loki, who had magically changed into an all-black suit, his shoulder length raven-colored hair slicked back. His eyes narrowed slightly at the team who had defeated him. He looked even better in person. "So, that's Loki."
Natasha spoke up before either Asgardian could. She stepped closer, observing him with you. "Not sure. He isn't as smug as before—"
"And he's missing those horrendous reindeer horns he was wearing." Clint chimed in, crossing his arms. His hate for Loki—which had increased when he found out the man who once controlled him was coming to the team—was almost as deep as Steve's. "He looks like a witch in that black suit."
Thor snickered, releasing Loki from the handcuffs that held him. "As you all know, my adopted brother's punishment from Father is to help Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Loki understands all the rules, and he will so follow them accordingly. Isn't that right, brother?"
Loki rolled his eyes, sighing before reluctantly nodding. "Yes, I will."
"Let me make this clear, Loki." Steve stepped up, Sharon right behind him, face composed. You had to fight the urge to roll your eyes at the couple. "If you break one rule, no matter how small, you will be sent back to Asgard and face Odin's alternate punishment. Just so you're clear, we won't hesitate to send you back."
The God of Mischief smirked, feeling smug knowing he could push the super soldier's buttons. "Of course, Captain. I wouldn't dream of breaking the rules enforced."
Everyone could sense the sarcasm and mockery in his voice, all of them tensing. Thor sighed, clapping his brother on the back, the force making Loki take a steps forward. "Come on, brother. I'll show you your quarters before you get punched by Lady Natasha."
Without waiting for Loki to answer, Thor practically pulled Loki's arm off, pulling him towards the building, crossing the ruined lawn that Tony would bitch about later. Everyone followed them, staying a few feet back, wary of the new team member. You noticed Steve stealing glances at you, quickly moving away from Sharon's side and made his way to you.
Without being too obvious, you squeezed your way between Bruce and Natasha, snaking your arms between there's, hoping it would give Steve the impression not to talk to you. Ever. Natasha threw you a sympathetic smile, squeezing your wrist while Bruce raised an eyebrow, clearly confused.
Thor continued talking about the new compound, leading his brother to the entrance while pointing out installments that would've seemed impressive to a simple "midgardian."
He might've unconsciously murdered people but he kinda thicc.
At that exact moment, Loki turned around, his piercing blue eyes meeting yours. His smirk grew, glancing between you and Steve before turning back. It had been so quick that you weren't sure it even happened. The group scattered as soon as they stepped a foot inside; Bruce heading to the lab, Steve following him while Sharon split and headed up to Medbay, Natasha hitting the gym with Clint, leaving you alone with Thor and Loki.
Unfortunately, Thor's room had been across yours, the empty room next to yours becoming Loki's so both a spy and a god could keep an eye on the trickster. Both Tony and Steve had fought on that, Steve concerned about your safety while Tony argued back, telling him you could keep yourself safe. If not, Thor was there. That had angered you; Steve didn't think you were capable of fighting off Loki if it came to it, and that made you roll your eyes at him, exiting the room.
"...and this will be your quarters. Decorate it any way you want, just no magic." Thor continued, reaching the area of your rooms. It was a big arc, the area looking like a semi-circle with three doors spaced evenly out. "My chambers is across Lady Y/N's, so we won't have any problems. She's a smart one, brother. Anything else to add, Sunshine?"
You ignored the nickname, eyes narrowing at the black-suited man. "There's a party tonight 'celebrating' the addition to the team. It starts at 8 so don't be late or else Tony will have your head. Also, if you wake me up before seven in the morning, watch your back 'cause I hold grudges."
Giving Thor a smile, you head to your room, closing the door with a sigh. On the other side, you heard Loki chuckle once. "I like her."
"She's serious. She almost ripped my heart out the one time I accidentally woke her from her slumber." Thor added, the clap on his brother's back loud. "Get ready for the party, Loki."
Loki had been forced in his room by his brother, the door closing after him. He listened carefully, hearing you plop on your bed. He bit back a smirk, a plan unfolding in his brain. With a swift gesture of a finger, the room had been decorated, the hideous white theme changing into an exact copy of Loki's bedroom in Asgard.
The day went by fast as you wasted it away planning the party with Tony, who had, in no way, helped. You had ran off to your room once the people Tony had hired came, setting up everything in the main room. As you walked to the three-bedroom wing, you saw Steve rocking back and forth in front of your door, his hands in his pocket while Thor gushed about his flying hammer.
Relief washed over his face as soon as he spotted you, and you almost turned around, wishing you had gone to Natasha's room to get ready.
Steve called out your name, abruptly ending his conversation with Thor. As you walked closer, you could see the concern etched on his face. "Hey, are you okay?"
Thor watched your reaction, your face fighting the urge to make a face at America's sweetheart. Maneuvering your body, you slid between the two men to get to your room. "I'm fun-fucking-tastic. Thor, remind Loki about the party. I didn't spend the whole day with Tony for Loki to miss his own party."
"I'll be there, darling." Loki chimed in, his head poking out of his bedroom. Everyone turned to look at him, seeing the not-so-subtle wink he gave you.
Ignoring Steve's clenched fists, you moved past them, entering your room. Before closing the door, you said, "Tony requests the presence of all three of you, by the way. There's no way you're getting out of this. See you at 8!"
With a sighed of relief, you closed the door in Steve's face, the loud slam cutting off whatever he was about to interject. He could talk to Sharon about whatever shit he was dealing with, the girl he chose. You were no longer someone he could vent to after the shit he pulled, leading you on before leaving for Sharon Carter. It was then that you came to the decision to not love so easily.
Getting ready for the party took longer than you thought it would, the hot shower burning your skin to the point your skin started to redden. Your mind wandered to Loki, curios about the wink. Maybe it was his way of messing with people, a loophole that had not been included in the agreement. Realizing how inappropriate it was to think about the God while showering, you quickly turned the water off and stepped out.
Knowing Natasha, she's be disappointed if you didn't dress up like your inner slut, the one that got fucked up in Tokyo, and the petty hoe who would do everything to make Steve Rogers regret his decision. Well, you weren't going to let your sestra down.
The sultry, tight red dress was almost too short to be considered decent. With it's low cropped top, your tits we're begging for attention, the bra non-existent. Your new motto: protect the city, free the titties. The matching red stilettos would've been a pain if you hadn't started wearing them so early in your life. You let your hair down, running hand through it before slapping some natural makeup on your face, trying not to look desperate for attention.
It was around 8:15 when you finally finished, already exhausted by the amount of work you had to put on for others, but mostly for yourself. Either Tony or Natasha would come barreling through your door if you were going to be any later. Rushing, you took a quick look in the mirror before opening your door, nearly bumping into the God of Mischief.
He was dressed in a black buttoned-downed dress shirt with matching dress pants. Like before, his hair was slicked back, the shoulder length, raven hair looking silky and sexy. You both eye each other, eyes appreciating the sight in front of them. It wasn't until you finally met his eyes that he cleared his throat, a smug smile covering half his face.
"Would you mind accompanying me to the party, Lady Y/N? My brother is an idiot and cannot give a proper tour with his minuscule organ that he calls a brain. As of that, I do not know where this celebration is held." Loki explained, holding out his arm, waiting for you to take it. He raised an eyebrow while you hesitated. "If not, I could just follow you and everyone would assume I'm planning to have your head."
"Jesus Christ, you and Thor are so fucking dramatic." you grumbled, taking Loki's arm, your arm snaking around his. "Must run in the family, huh?"
"I'm adopted."
"I don't care."
Loki darkly chuckled, feeling your warm body against his, letting himself grow closer, enough that he could feel more of you but not enough that you would've noticed. "I sincerely hope you don't take this the wrong way, but you look rather ravishing, darling."
"Have you ever thought of cutting your hair?" you replied, loving the way Loki's smug expression wavered—probably expecting a compliment—before composing himself. "You'd look less like Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean."
"I don't understand." Loki said, leading you towards the elevator. For someone who claimed they didn't know where they were headed, he had the sense of knowing where everything was.
You waved the pop culture reference away, pushing the elevator button. "You wouldn't. Is Thor already at the party?"
"I'm quite positive."
The rest of the walk to the main room was quiet, neither of you making small talk as you led him. More like, he led you. You were suspicious he had stayed back and faked not knowing the compound in order to mess with you. But you waved that thought away, focus on getting distracting yourself from Steve.
You could hear the party before seeing it, the big room had been half full, not too much, not too little, yet you had been surprised considering how extra Tony could be. Letting go of Loki's arm, you walked to the bar where Natasha was sipping a glass of whiskey, ignoring the rest of the party. She pulled out a bottle of gin as you arrived, raising an eyebrow at your accompanied date.
"Before you say anything, he didn't know where the party was so he asked me to guide him. Nicely if I might add." you said, pushing back the bottle, settling on a bottle of water instead.
Natasha smirked, watching Loki interact with his brother, a frown deepening on his face. "He knows where everything is, Thor gave him the whole tour while you were with Tony. Can't believe you took the bait."
"Ugh." you grumbled, wishing you could forget about tomorrow and drown your problems in alcohol but the last hangover nearly killed you.
"Stevie doesn't look to happy with you showing up with Loki." Natasha noticed, the smirk widening as she watched Steve's glare grew more lethal as Loki's grin got bigger. "This is so much better than America's Next Top Models fails. Do you wanna bet that one of them will punch the other before the party is over?"
"Daddy, chill." you mimicked, turning to see how enraged old Capsicle is. But with the blonde besides him, looking up him in both wonder and worry, he had no right to be angry at Loki for attending a party that had been thrown for him, despite the many people he murdered—while being controlled. "He can't seriously still be sour about Loki joining."
The redhead giggled, a little drunk from the amount of alcohol she already consumed. "I don't think that's what he's so broody about, not anymore at least. He was smiling until he saw you on Loki's arm."
"Ain't my fault he chose Peggy's niece over me, meaning he doesn't get to be jealous whether Loki is my date or a walker for these killer stilettos." you muttered, secretly loving and hating the jealousy that oozed out of Steve Rogers. Even his blonde date had noticed. "Look at these heels, aren't they gorgeous?"
"Almost as gorgeous as you." Natasha replied, winking just before she drowned the rest of her drink. She winced a little at the taste.
"How many of those have you had?" you wondered, eyeing the spy. After the worst hangover of both your lives, Natasha had made you swear to never let her get that drunk again. Although with the rate she was going, you feared you had been too late.
She shrugged, taking your bottle of water. "Four. Oh, look, here comes Steve."
Before you could ditch, Steve leaned against the counter, his blue buttoned down shirt matching his blue eyes. Natasha not-so-subtly walked to the other side of the bar, motioning for Bruce to keep her company, although knowing her, she'd listen to every word.
"Rogers," you greeted coldly, looking everywhere but him. He tensed at your cold greeting, the frown looking permanently pressed on his face. "Enjoying the party?"
"Yeah."
Lie.
"Good."
You sat there for a good two minutes before he cleared his throat, shifting his weight nervously from one foot onto the other. Steve coughed in his fist. "So...living near Loki isn't too much trouble, is it? He causing any trouble, yet?"
"Sweet as an angel." you replied sarcastically, wishing you were anywhere but here. Loki caught your eye, raising a hand to wave and the group that had been brave enough to be near him, gasped in shock, the noises audible across the room. Their reactions made you chuckle.
Steve cleared his throat, this time louder. "Would you like to dance?"
"Ask your girlfriend." you fired back, satisfied by the hurt on his face. After the stunt he pulled, leading you on only to stomp of your heart, you wanted to be selfish and make him suffer just a little bit. Thankful, Loki came to your rescue.
Ignoring Steve, he held out his arm once again, a smile playing on his lips as he took in the tense situation between you and Steve. But before he could utter a single word, Sharon decided it was the perfect time to come looking for Steve. She assessed the situation, awkwardly noting Loki's presence.
"Er, hello." Sharon said, standing in false bravery. She wouldn't admit it, but she was afraid of the God of Mischief.
Loki gave her a curt nod and held out a hand to you instead, easily fitting yours in his. He murmured your name, softly kissing your knuckles. "Would you like to dance? This is the first song that came on that has not made me want to tear my ears off."
"Why, yes, I would." you agreed with a grin, moving your body close to Loki as you reached the unofficial dance floor, everyone's eyes on the both of you, with shock and slight fear. You would've cackled at their reactions—and it looked like Loki wanted to, too—if you hadn't been raised with manners. "Thank you."
Loki raised an eyebrow, surprised by the words. "For what, if I may ask?"
"Saving me back there. I don't need that kind of drama in my life. Not anymore." you explained, drinking in the warmth of his arm wrapping around your waist as you both slowly swayed to the slow song.
The raven-haired God smiled—not the smug smirk he wore, but a genuine one that Thor hadn't seen his brother wear for a few years now. "My pleasure. A lady like you deserves someone who'll give her his undivided attention. Any suitor would be lucky to have a tenth of your attention."
A coping mechanism: you rolled your eyes but you couldn't help the small smile that forced itself on you lips. You bit it back, hoping no one had noticed.
Loki had. And he meant every word he said.
By the end of the night, you found yourself naked, against the wall and legs wrapped around Loki's waist. Lips crashed against one another, soft kisses trailing down necks, leaving little love marks that would surely be dark. But at the moment, you didn't care. Not when Loki whispered sweet nothings in your ear as he took you from behind, above, underneath, and even on the side. You had both been teasing each other at the party and now you had given in, no matter the consequences.
Annoyed Steve had missed the date he had asked you on, you walked up to his room, heels clicking. You had waited for him for over two hours, texted him and getting no replies, leaving the restaurant with the humiliation of being stood up.
But as you neared his door, you heard crying. But it wasn't Steve. Peeking inside, you saw Sharon. Pretty, talented Sharon. Her eyes were red, tears steaming down her cheeks while Steve hugged her shoulders, resting his chin on her head as he comforted her. Jealousy and hurt knocked the breath out of you.
You waited.
And waited.
And it happened. Leaning in slowly, he kissed her. Softly, like he had kissed you. And she kissed him back, finding comfort in the kiss.
Heart breaking in two, you left, leaving the door open. The couple broke their kiss long enough to see you walk away through the slit of the door. Steve hung just head, feeling terrible. But Sharon had helped him as he had. This time, they hadn't stopped at kissing, forgetting the girl who had her heart broken by the man who claimed he would never hurt her.
Steve knew it was over between you two, but he could focus his attention on caring as much as he wanted to when Sharon kept kissing him. He did try to apologize only to learn you had went to visit Thor in Asgard, leaving him to feel sorry for himself and his decisions. Yet, he still found temporary comfort in Sharon's arms.
You woke to the warmth of Loki's arms around you. Opening your eyes, you found yourself tangled limbs with the God of Lies, your hair a mess, a hand over his chest and a leg over his waist. Your cheek rested on the crook of his neck, fitting perfectly as if he was made for you.
"Good morning." Loki whispered, stroking your hair with one hand, the other softly massaging your thigh. "Sleep well?"
Nuzzling into his neck, you snorted at the irony. "Don't know, considering we didn't do much sleeping."
Loki chuckled, pressing a soft kiss on your head. "Touché. It would only be fair of me to apologize for the love marks I left on your soft skin last night. Forgive me but I could not help myself."
Gasping, you jumped up, looking at the vanity mirror across your bed to find your collarbone, neck, and the top of your breast covered in Loki's hickeys. He looked rather proud of himself than sorry. "Loki!"
"Please note my apologies are genuine when they are directed towards you. Although, I have to admit, I'm quite proud of myself. It's my best art." Loki announced, bringing himself up on his elbows, eyes ravaging your naked flesh, littered with his marks.
Noticing the difference between your bodies, you quickly turned around to see the reflections had been right; Loki's body remained unmarked. "I swear to god I left hickeys and bite marks all over you last night."
"You tried but got rather mad when my skin healed itself." Loki explained, pulling you back in his warm arms. The soft gesture surprised you, the whole situation coming into light. You had slept with Thor's murderous brother. Loki read your thoughts. "Don't be like that, love. What what I can remember, you enjoyed yourself last night quite immensely. If it will make you feel better, I can show all the love bites you made the night before."
Thankful you hadn't drank anything last night, you had been so happy to not wake up with a hangover and Loki. Turning to face him, you raise an eyebrow. "What?"
With a smirk, his chest gleamed green for a second before it uncovered layers and layers of hickeys, and reddening bite marks. It was identical to yours. You gasped in shocked while Loki stared at you in amusement, his arms tightening. "You did a little bit of damage. I'm proud."
"Holy shit—" you were cut off by Thor and Steve bursting into your room, the sudden motion making you cover up your naked chest with a shriek. The two men's jaws dropped as they took in the scene, Loki's bare chest covered with the evidence from last night, his arms wrapped around you while you stared at them with wide eyes. "Knock, goddamnit!"
Both of them stood in silence, their brains not processing what was in front of them. Steve's eyes had mirrored yours from when you caught him kissing Sharon, eyes watering, you could see his heart breaking just by making eye contact. But at that moment, you couldn't find yourself to care, not with Loki's arms around you.
"What—" Thor began.
Loki smirked, kissing your bare shoulder. "Hello, brother."

Chapter two of my Beauty and the Beast AU! You can check the first one here.
Word Count: 1,005
Triggers Warnings: None except from annoying man being annoying.
A/N: I would suggest that you listen to this song while reading.
Tag List: @jj-arms
Everything was always the same in the village where you lived.
Every day you put on your dress and then your apron, tied your hair with a ribbon and left your house, feeling the morning breeze caress your skin gently, filling your lungs with the refreshing scent of the morning as the first rays of sunlight painted the sky.
And then, when walking through the center of the village, everyone would say "good morning" and continue with their routine chores, giving you some strange looks from time to time.
Not that it surprised you. No, not anymore. Life in the countryside was calm, which gave plenty of room for gossip. And what could give people more of an issue than the weird daughter of the crazy inventor next door? You shook your head at the thought.
The little bell rang as soon as you opened the door to your favorite place, Mr. Robert's bookshop, alerting him to your presence.
"Oh, Y/N! Good morning!" The friendly man smiled over a book he was reading.
"Good morning! I came to return the book I just finished reading," you said, placing it on one of the shelves, looking around for something new, "have any more books arrived?"
He chuckled, "not since yesterday, I fear."
"That's okay, I'll take..." your eyes found the title you liked so much, "this one."
Seeing the one you held, Robert raised his eyebrows slightly, "but you've read this one twice."
"It's my favorite," you sighed, caressing the cover, "adventures in distant lands, sword fights, magic..."
"If you like it so much, it's yours."
It stopped you on your tracks, now surprised, "really?"
"Really. Anyway, you're one of my only customers, so..." he shrugged.
"Thank you so much, your bookstore makes this place look a lot bigger," you smiled gratefully, before leaving and going on your way through the village, this time with your book in hand, avoiding other people's looks and whispers.
Your peace, however, did not last long. It never lasted when John Walker was near, and at that moment he was very near.
"Y/N! How nice to see you, I really wanted to talk to you!"
'But I didn't want to,' you thought, before smiling and closing your book, waiting for him to keep going.
"You know, Y/N... I think you should stop paying so much attention to these..." he grimaced, "books. It's not right for a girl to read. You could instead focus on something more important, how to get a husband, for example," he smiled arrogantly, making some girls sigh behind you.
You shook your head, "what are you suggesting, John?"
"Come on, Y/N, haven't you ever imagined yourself as Y/N Walker?"
This almost made you flinch, taking a step back, "I'm sorry, John, but I don't feel like this towards you."
This could be the dream of every other girl around the village. John had fought in the war, he was a good soldier and hunter. But so damn full of himself, he was insuferable. So no, he was not a dream of yours. The other girls could have him.
You started walking away, trying not to meet his eye, when he once again got in front of you, "you understand what staying single means, right? Simple people like us can't afford that luxury, Y/N."
This time you stopped right away, scoffing, "I'm not simple and I'm not marrying you, ever," you said before running past him, wanting to get home as soon as possible.
As soon as the door closed, you released the breath you hadn't noticed you were holding, smiling again at the sound of metal clinking in your father's, Tony Stark's, workshop.
"Are you back already, dear? I thought you were going to enjoy the daylight a little more," he commented without taking his eyes off the project on his desk.
"I was going to, but you know... it's not very easy to deal with the people here," you shrugged, watching your father's work.
"It's a small town with small minds, Y/N... but here is a safe place for us, you know that," he finally released the tool to look into your eyes and stroke your hair.
You nodded, sighing, "I know, papa, I know," his eyes focused on the machinery in front of him again, "is it ready yet?"
"Almost, just a few more adjustments and I'm going to start preparing Jarvis for the trip. Could you give him some carrots in the meantime?"
"Sure, papa," you nodded.
When you arrived at the small stable, Jarvis was already awake and very willing to get some carrots, in addition to his horse feed, which you carried in a bucket.
While he was enjoying his meal, you stroked his mane and thought about what John had told you. Y/N Walker? Seriously?
The thought alone repulsed you. You didn't want to be trapped in this country life forever, you wanted adventures, trips, emotions... but most of all, you wanted someone who trully understood you.
For a few minutes, you let yourself imagine more about all the things you still wanted to see and live. But none of them included any man, other than your father, of course. And speaking of him...
"Good job, Y/N," your father praised you, walking up to you with his curious apparatus in hand, placing it on the wagon that would soon be taken by Jarvis.
"Everything ready, papa?"
"Yes," he nodded while getting on the wagon, before frowning, "well, almost everything. You still haven't told me what you want from the market, Y/N."
"Bring me a rose," you asked. They did not bloom near the village and you have fallen in love with them ever since the first time your father brought you one.
"You ask me for one every year," he shook his head, smiling tenderly.
"And every year you bring one to me," you returned the smile, before walking away from Jarvis, "have a good trip, papa."
"I'll be back before you know it, I promise."
You really hoped so.
