#I can tick that off my adventurous bucket list now
Text
Y’all…the day I just had at work
So, at our halfway point on our train journey, our train breaks down in the middle of the fucking rainforest, meaning we’re hours away from civilisation, with no phone reception or wifi
Now, naturally, being the overachiever I am, I was the guard today, meaning I am fully responsible for every passenger on board and am in charge of my two coworkers on with me today
Shit
So, it’s fucking storming outside and raining down, and our back carriage is empty and I need to get into it to go to the balcony to radio ahead to our driver three carriages behind me that the coast is all clear every 30 seconds for 15 minutes (we had to slide down the mountain backwards to get back to a safe platform)
Now, since the back carriage is only half attached, in the middle of a storm, I have to do some Indiana Jones stunt double shit leaping across moving carriages with nothing to walk on except the coupling chains, and not to mention the carriage I need to get into is locked
Nonetheless, we get back to town finally 12 hours later, and it’s dark and I’m hungry and tired
I did get a $100 tip though from a passenger for making sure they didn’t, you know, die
So feeling a little like this now, getting home at 6pm when I started work today at 6am

Thank you, 2023, for such a wondrous ride! You have helped me broaden my skills, patience, and, most of all, my faith. It was an incredible ride, with some moments being truly great. I'll never forget the highs and lows of emotions from last year; all those experiences are acknowledged. I'll always be thankful to you because you helped me open another chapter in my life where I found the love of my life. I believe everything happens for a reason. Some people left my life, but as they say, when something leaves, someone arrives. She's the one I've been waiting for, my partner, someone with whom I can share my life.
In order to move forward, I'd like to reflect again on 2023. I accomplished so much in the wheel of life, and I was satisfied. I appreciate and am grateful for all the events that unfolded in each area of my life.
At the start of the new year in 2023, I treated myself to an IMAX experience and made time for more leisure activities to move on from the challenging experiences of 2022. The movie was great, leaving me amazed and somewhat reflective—I was moved by the family's sacrifices for each other.
As an outdoor lover, I pursued adventures. I joined friends for a hike at Mt. Masungi Georeserve, enjoying the calm and safe experience. The scenery was fantastic, offering breathtaking views of Rizal. We also visited Daranak, my first time seeing such a wonderful waterfall—a legit adventure.
After Mt. Masungi, I tackled more hikes—Mt. Ulap, Mt. Pulag, Mt. Malvars, Mt. Talamitam, and Mt. Apayang—all incredible experiences. I challenged myself further by participating in the intimidating Spartan race. Despite doubts and limitations, I pushed myself and found it to be a worthwhile and thrilling experience under the sun. Super proud of these achievements.
Last year, we finally bought our first-ever second-hand car, bringing immense joy to my father, and fulfilling one of our dreams—to see him drive a private car. Remarkably, we bought it on my birthday!
On that very evening, I messaged Arcel, who is now my girlfriend. I felt comfortable talking to her, and our conversations gradually led to dates, introductions to friends, and family. We enjoyed attending various events, going on adventures, and creating cherished memories together.
Later in the year, I ticked off some bucket list items—travelling to Palawan and experiencing the beauty of Japan for the first time. Both experiences were incredible, leaving lasting impressions and cherished memories.
This year, one of my siblings went abroad to one of my dream countries. I believe it's part of God's plan, blessing us in both small and big ways. I'm proud of my sister's transformation and her active involvement in every worship service to God.
Additionally, I met my girlfriend's family, a memorable experience. Eventually, I introduced her to my family in the last month of 2023, a year filled with many firsts. I'm grateful for these opportunities.
In summary, 2023 was a year of firsts and checking off bucket list moments. I cherish them all and eagerly anticipate more adventures with family, friends, and my girlfriend.
Today, I'm walking into the year 2024, January, feeling much like last year. The work challenges and room setup remain unchanged. Some people still indulge in peculiar jokes. I began the first week of the year with enthusiasm and a positive outlook. I drafted my focus for the entire year and areas for improvement. I've set my mind to consider this year as one where discipline holds the key to progress in life. I opt for the harder path now to avoid regret later on. By discipline, I mean taking care of my body, maintaining a balanced diet, and nurturing a healthy mind. Mastering control over my emotions in every life situation is another goal. I'm steering away from quick judgments of people because everyone has their story, and none of us are perfect. My focus is on personal growth and forging deeper connections with my loved ones. I've observed individuals who practice this and they exude happiness while broadening their perspectives. I deeply admire such individuals.
With my girlfriend, my partner in life, we've committed to inspiring each other, igniting fires within ourselves, and propelling one another to places we rightfully belong. We aim for a tranquil, healthy life surrounded by our loved ones. Hopefully, by year-end, our bond will be stronger, having embarked on this journey together with youthful determination. The first week has been challenging for her, but I have faith in her resilience to overcome these obstacles. I strive to learn from her experiences and remain grateful for every opportunity we face together.
In this year, I'm determined to become a better, wiser person. My mantra: "Better days are coming." It's a year of encouragement and victories. To kickstart, my goal for the first quarter is to establish a habitual system—exercising, prioritizing a healthy diet for mind and body, reducing social media usage, and enhancing in-person social connections.
Let's do this!

EM ‘Hey Stranger’ • Chapter Twenty Eight - A Hundred Kisses
Chapter summary: The gang tick off things from Nina’s bucket list.
content warnings: SO MUCH FLUFF (this is one of the first chapters I wrote so I'm glad to be finally sharing it!!), whole lotta smut (multiple orgasms, public sex / exhibitionism, dirty talk, m! no orgasm (because Eddie is a GENT), cute funny couple sex cause I'm a sucker for established relationship loving sex.
‘I’d steal a hundred kisses before you say goodbye,
And make a hundred wishes in the name of you and I,
‘Cause what we have is secret, so don’t let no-one know,
The past can’t come between us if we both just let it go.
Today’s the perfect day, today’s the day I tell you, Oh,
If you ever walk away, then I would die right there, for you.’
A Hundred Kisses - She Wants Revenge
Friday / 9pm / Hawkins Public Pool / 4 days left
Nancy: “We definitely shouldn’t be doing this.”
Jonathan: “I’m with Nancy on this one.” [Jonathan jumps over the locked gate of the public pool anyways, lending a hand to Nancy who reluctantly takes it and jumps over too]
Robin: [landing on the floor with a thump] “Come on guys, where’s your sense of adventure?”
Steve: [brushing off his dusty hands on his jeans] “It’s not like you can get in trouble with Hopper anyways, Jonathan!”
Nancy: (to Max) “And you definitely shouldn’t be here Max!”
Max: (smiling) “Don’t be such a square Nancy, it’s fun!”
Nancy: “This is trespassing!”
Robin, Steve and Max: “Square!” [Nancy groans]
Nina: “Eddie, what’s the plan?”
Eddie walks over to the public pool and unwinds the pool cover, revealing the sparkly blue water and smell of chlorine.
He then walks over to the pool storage room and breaks the lock, causing Nancy to gasp and turn away, Jonathan laughing at her expense. He pulls out several floats and throws them in the pool.
Eddie: “Nina is going to teach you how to surf.”
Nina: (surprised) “I’m teaching you to surf on those?!”
Eddie: (smirking) “I thought you liked a challenge?”
Robin: “It’s the middle of autumn, it’ll be freezing!”
Eddie: [teasing] “Come on, where’s your sense of adventure?” [Robin rolls her eyes]
Nina: (smiling) “Prepare yourselves, surfing school is in session!”
11:30pm
Nina is sitting dripping wet on the sun lounger beside the pool, everyone else is in and around the pool, laughing and splashing loudly. Eddie sits beside Nina on the lounger, kissing her wet shoulder lovingly.
Eddie: “Happy, baby?”
Nina: [ringing out her hair] “Very.” [kissing him softly] “Thank you.”
Eddie: [quietly against her shoulder] “Why wouldn’t you show me your bucket list?”
Nina: “Cause it’s, y’know, embarrassing!” (Quietly) “And cause, well, you're kinda on there.”
Eddie: (surprised, giddy) “I am?”
Nina: (shy) “Yeah… You’re on there a few times actually.”
Eddie: “But you didn’t know me when you made it.”
Nina: “It’s some things I’ve ticked off recently.”
Eddie: [excited like a puppy] “Oh now you’ve got to show me!” [Pestering Nina, prodding and poking her, tickling her] “Show me, show me, show me!”
Tumblr media
Nina: “Fine!” [Fake annoyance] “Jesus, you’re annoying!” [handing him the paper, cheeks red]
Eddie flicks his eyes over the paper. The bucket list she wrote when she was 15 is written in pink pen, and the lines crossed through the one’s she completed are of various colours. The added additions to the bucket list are in blue pen.

Nina: (shyly) “It’s embarrassing.”
Eddie: (teasing) “You stole something? Didn’t realise my girlfriend was a master criminal.”
Nina: [cheeks pink] “I was 15 when I wrote it okay, I had low ambitions!”
Eddie: [reading off the list, surprised] “Have sex in a public place?” [joking] “Steve’s bathroom not public enough for you?”
Steve: [shouting] “I heard that!”
Nina: [cheeks bright red now] “Just something I’m intrigued about.”
Eddie: (amused) “You’ve never won a game of monopoly?”
Tumblr media
Nina: (whining) “Eddie!”
Eddie: “And which one was I?”
Nina: (embarrassed) “Don’t make me say it!”
Eddie: “Come on, I won’t laugh!”
Nina: (mumbled) “10 and 23.” [shyly] “And number 4.”
Eddie: [looking at her lovingly, warmly] “Wow.”
Nina: [hiding her face] “You’re killing me here!”
Eddie: [sitting on her lounger, moving her hands from her face, soft] “I’m in love with you too.”
Tumblr media
Nina: [shyly] “You are?” [Eddie smiles and nods]
Eddie pulls her into a deep kiss, his hands weaving in her hair. Nina sighs happily, kissing him back passionately. They can feel their hearts hammering in their chests. They pull each other closer, the kiss becoming desperate, needy, clinging to each other lovingly.
Tumblr media
Max: [laughing, so happy] “Nina, look! I’m doing it!” [She is standing on the float, Jonathan and Steve are in the pool, fully clothed, kicking the water to make waves for Max to surf on.]
Eddie and Nina pull apart, breathless, looking at each other with wide eyes.
Nina: [stuttering] “Yeah that’s great, great Max!”
Eddie: [playing with her bottom lip] “What’s up, princess?”
Nina: “You kinda took my breath away…” [looking around, mischievous] “You wanna go.. erm…?”
Eddie: [gulping, aroused] “Are you implying what I think you’re implying?”
Nina: (coy) “I mean, it is on the bucket list.”
Eddie: (smirking) “Would be wrong not to.”
They laugh and stand up, trying to subtly sneak off to the storage cupboard.
Steve: [in the pool] “Hey! Where are you going?”
Nina: (giggling) “We’ll be back in 20 minutes!”
Eddie: “Urgent bucket list matters to attend to!” [Nina laughs as Eddie closes the storage room door behind her, pressing her up against the door]
Their lips find each other quickly, hands roaming each other’s bodies. Eddie’s hands grope Nina’s ass, pulling her wet shorts down in one swift motion. His hands quickly slide into her underwear, sliding through her folds.
Tumblr media
Nina: [panting, teasingly] “Straight to the point, huh?”
Eddie: [rubbing circles on her clit] “Only got 20 minutes, and I want you to cum twice in that time.” [Nina moans and he smirks] “Turn around darling.”
Nina complies and turns around, bending over slightly for Eddie. He steadies his feet but trips over a foam pool noodle, causing Nina to burst out laughing, Eddie going red in the face as he recovers himself.
Nina: (smirking) “Easy there, tiger.”
Eddie: (embarrassed) “Shut up!” [unzipping his jeans, stroking himself harder with his hand, approaching Nina] “Come here.”
He presses himself against Nina’s back, sliding his leaking tip through her folds. She moans, legs feeling like jelly already with anticipation.
Eddie: [pressing a kiss on her neck] “Shh princess, we’ve got to be quiet.”
Eddie starts to push in and Nina moans loudly again. Eddie places one hand on the wall in front of them to stabilise himself, the other over Nina’s mouth to keep her quiet as he pushes inside of her.
Eddie: [heart beating fast, eyes wide] “Fuck… there we go.” [Eddie is fully pushed inside her now.] “Fuck, baby, you’re so wet.” [giggling to himself] “Literally.”
Nina: [mumbled into Eddie’s hand] “You’re a dick.” [he thrusts into her roughly to silence her] “Oh god, Eddie.” [Nina bends forward slightly, using her free hands to spread her ass cheeks more, allowing Eddie better movement. Her face and chest is pressed against the cold steel door.]
Eddie: [thrusting slowly] “Good girl, just like that.” [Nina moans into his hand] “That’s my girl.”
Eddie quickened his pace and Nina whimpers, hand climbing up the wall and resting on top of Eddie’s entwining their fingers. Eddie removes his hand from her mouth, not caring anymore about being quiet, and rubs quick circles on Nina’s clit. He grips Nina’s hips with his free hand to pull Nina down to meet his fast deep thrusts.
Nina: [voice horse with lust] “Holy fuck, Eddie!”
Eddie responds by kissing the back of her neck, his breath hot on her skin, leaving goosebumps. He bites down on her skin to stifle his moans, legs aching with effort, but determined in his movements.
Nina moans and flings her head back, her head resting on Eddie’s shoulder, and Eddie kisses along her jaw and bites at her earlobe.
Nina: “Fuck Eddie, oh god! Fuck, fuck, fuck!”
Eddie: [pace faster on her clit and in thrusts, chaotic, determined] “Let me feel you, baby.”
Nina orgasms loudly, legs shaking and chest heaving, clinging to the wall to keep herself upright. Eddie continues thrusting through her orgasm, bringing tears to her eyes.
Nina pushes Eddie back, leaving him confused. She drags him over to the pile of inflatables and pushes him down so he’s lying on an inflatable lounger. He looks at her with wide eyes as she climbs over him, thighs straddling him. His eyes twinkle with awe as she sinks down on him, riding him on the inflatable.
Eddie groans and throws his head back, hands gripping her ass cheeks firmly, giving them an encouraging squeeze.
Nina giggles at the squeak the inflatable makes underneath the two of them, Eddie smiles and rolls his eyes at her.
Eddie: [adoringly, whispered] “I love you.”
Nina: [cupping his face, softly] “I love you.”
Eddie cups her breasts in his hands, revelling in the way they bounced in his hands as Nina bounced on his lap. When Nina starts to tire, Eddie manhandles Nina to flip her over so he is on top and Nina is on her knees, ass in the air in front of him.
Tumblr media
Eddie slips into Nina again with a groan.
Eddie: (panting) “I’ll never get used to how good you feel Nina, feels like you were made for me.”
Nina moans at his words, extending her arm behind her to hold tightly onto Eddie’s wrist, both of his hands grasping firmly on her hips.
[A/N: again totally NSFW / 18+, watch at your own pleasure / discretion, but here’s a link to Nina and Eddie’s position so you get the vibe!]
Nina: “God, Eddie, this is amazing, you’re amazing, I lo-” [her sentence is cut off with a moan as Eddie pounds into her relentlessly] “Fuck baby, please, feels so fucking good.”
Eddie: [taunting] “What do you want, baby, huh? Want to cum again?”
Nina: [begging] “Please, please make me cum Eddie, want it so bad!”
Eddie: [groaning] “Like I could ever say no to you,” [his hand moves to her clit] “There you go princess,” [Nina’s legs begin to shake] “That’s a good girl, can feel you clenching around me, let go angel.”
Nina: “Fuck, Eddie!” [Nina slumps against the inflatable after she orgasms, whimpering and trembling] "Oh Christ, I can't feel my legs."
Eddie pulls out and zips up his jeans.
Nina: [confused, still dazed] “Wait, you didn’t cum! Don’t you want me to-“
Eddie: [smiling] “Don’t need to, that was just for you babygirl.” [he slaps her playfully on the ass] “Gotta treat my girl right.”
Nina: [blushing, in awe] “God, you’re amazing.”
Eddie: [grinning proudly] “I do try.” [pulling up Nina’s underwear and sorting out her dress, helping her sit upright] “You okay?”
Nina: [blissed out, happy] “I’m great.” [brushing Eddie’s sweaty hair out of his face] “I love you so much.”
Eddie: “You’ll love me a bit more in a second.” [Nina raises an eyebrow, Eddie smirks smugly] “Come with me.”
They leave the storage cupboard and stand by the pool with Steve and Jonathan; the others are drip drying off on the loungers.
Eddie: [to Jonathan] “You ready, Steve? Jonathan?”
Jonathan & Eddie: [smirking, giddy] “Ready.”
Nina: [confused] “Ready for what?”
Steve picks up the fire hose from the wall beside the pool and turns it on, aiming it up in the sky. The water falls over Eddie and Nina like rain; Nina squeals at the cold water hitting her skin, laughing hysterically in Eddie’s arms.
Eddie: [smiling down at her] “You wanted a perfect kiss in the rain.” [Nina beams up at him]
Eddie cups her face lovingly, eyes softening despite the water beating down on them, and pulls her closer to him. He presses his lips against hers, hand sliding along her jaw to the back of her head, kissing her firmly and passionately. Nina sighs into the kiss, eyebrows furrowed with intensity, placing her hands on Eddie’s chest then going to the back of his head, tangling in his hair. Eddie then scoops her up in his arms, spinning her around as she throws her head back with laughter; their bodies drenched under the spray of the hose. Jonathan’s camera flashes, capturing the moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[A/N: I imagine this kiss is like Nick and Jess’ first kiss in New Girl (spoilers sorry!) Link to kiss here! ]
Tumblr media
Nina: [breathless, looking at Eddie with so much love in her eyes] “You really are amazing.”
Eddie: [smiling] “That good enough for you?”
Nina: [fondly] “Better than I could dream of.”
Eddie: [cocky] “Crossed out 20, 27, 29 and 30 all in one night, that’s pretty impressive if you ask me.”  Nina: [smiling a dimpled smile] “I’ve never been more in love with you.”

Time; You Got More Behind You Than You Have Ahead of You…
…Act Accordingly…
Tumblr media
The great equalizer…time. How? We are aware that we will run out of it before we wish; for some it ends tragically early; for others it’s tragically wasted, but it’s all relative, so who is to say? A person can rush through it and seem productive, but never take TIME to stop and smell the roses. A person can do nothing with it and be chided for “wasting” time; but if wasted time is enjoyed is it wasted? Confusing stuff with the only answer being determined by the individual spending it. A totally subjective experience with two objective truths: it will run out one day and most feel there is not enough of it. For this “teacher in transition,” it can almost be a race against time. I’m not racing to accumulate things but experiences …memories that, in time, will disappear when my time runs out. Crazy, crazy stuff.
When I retired, I determined that I’d spent enough time serving in the ranks of the world’s greatest profession, that of being a teacher, and now would devote my time to pursuits that I’d not been able to give time. I’m in my mid fifties…will there be time to do the things I want. Tick tock, tick tock… how do we do this without every moment being a stress inducing race with the clock? I wanted to leave the stress behind. Oh it’s a scene man.
During this brief sojourn of two years, I’ve developed some thoughts on how we should approach this period of life without it being a panicked path to accomplish “bucket goals.” You know… things to do before you, “kick the bucket?” I friggin’ hate that adage. In my experiences it creates two negative outcomes: one, it makes all your goals as a countdown to death…f*** that! And the other outcome, it makes you think you have time to get them done, “I got plenty of time!” The paradox lives. I refuse to let death be a motivation for my mindset … at … all. It’s like Gus McRae says to Woodrow F. Call in Lonesome Dove, “by god Woodrow it ain’t death I’m talkin’ about, it’s livin’!”* If you’re fifteen or fifty, eight or eighty…this is appropriate advice; be positive in mindset when living your life. I have a wonderful former student who I shall call Baylee with whom I maintain contact. We talk about life, I help her with her college classes and my wife and I have gone to basketball games and dinner with her since moving on from teaching. She used the term, bucket list once while talking about things she wanted to do in her young life. Like the comedian John Pinnette says, “oh nay, nay!” I suggested calling it your “gotta do” list. Less ominous, it can be added to and removes the “tick tock” panic.
Tumblr media
A suggestion to be made is to avoid a structured, one after the next approach to getting things done. Why do you ask? C’mon, we talked about this before…very, very little turns out as planned. Accomplishing goals may look very different than they looked in the planning stages. Case in point: I wanted to travel…specifically in Europe. The unexpected sucker punched me and you with Covid. I feared that two to three years of valuable time was being wasted. Oh nay, nay…it just looked different than I expected. Here we are traveling the country while Kim pursues her travel nursing adventure. Not Europe, though we were able to go with my son and his wife to Scotland and Ireland, but it’s been a wild adventure. We’ve made new friends; hiked and camped in the beautiful Llano Estacado; sailed along the Red River; tried some awesome Cajun cuisine; viewed the open skies of West Texas and completely changed our lives. Not bad, huh? Check one on the “must do” list even though we never saw this coming.
Be willing to subtly compromise and let serendipity come into play. Racing the clock with a little spontaneity and less rigidity can lead to discovering experiences you never imagined…that’s the good stuff! Living with unbridled excitement beats a methodical one after the other marking off, in my opinion, but, hey whatever floats your boat. Have a general idea to live for adventure how it comes, but not with a final list that ends with, “now what?” Let’s face it … this thing we call time and can be a cruel son of a bitch. Some folks had it taken away far too early and it’s tragic. The only visible grasp of time that any of us have is time in the…now! What we are experiencing this…immediate…moment. In this respect, we are all the same page. Have dreams, plans, goals …be flexible in their experience, but don’t let the tangible moment you have slip through your fingers. You may not be at the place you love, but Crosby, Stills and Nash sang, “…to love the one (the place) you’re with!”
Dedicated to the ones who left too early… Thomas, Jay, Cindy, Fant, Jeff, John, Doris, Kyle, Kendall, Rick, Teresa, Matt, Heather and on and on.

Pairings: gn reader x taehyun
Genre: soulmate au, angst, a little bit of fluff
Warnings: mentions of death, major character death
Summary: Kang Taehyun was so in love with you. You were so in love with Kang Taehyun. You were both in a lovely relationship, one that friends and passersby would always be jealous of. No one expected the ending of the relationship that should’ve lasted forever to be this tragic, though. Alas, happy endings only happen in fairy tales. This, however, is reality.
Notes: not proofread !! im so sorry it's really bad because i'm so busy with school i'll edit as i post this tysm for understanding!
Tumblr media
Dear Taehyun,
Hey, love. How are you? If you’re reading this, that would mean that I’m either gone or I’m nearly there. I hope you don’t miss me too much. You might be wondering: why didn’t I tell you? Well, it’s because I was afraid. I was afraid of everything happening. It all just… went by too fast. One day I was playing Mario Kart with you on the sofa, then I fainted the next. I was so scared. The doctors told me I had an incurable disease which I had since I was a child. There was no more hope for me, unless I got a heart transplant. Of course, I couldn’t. I had 3 months to live. It was hard as it is to find a heart donor. And even if we found one, my parents couldn’t afford it.
So, I lived the next 92 days to the fullest.
I had 2 goals 一 missions 一 to fulfill within those 3 months. One, it was to complete my bucket list. Two, to make sure you know I love you. So, I went around the city trying my best to tick off my list. Roller skating, rock climbing, go-kart riding… I tried (and succeeded) to persuade you to join me in my adventures. Honestly, I wanted to go bungee jumping as well, but my sickness wouldn’t allow me to do so. We had a lot of fun, didn’t we? I was so happy! It might be because the activities were fun itself, but I believe it was because you were there. There is a reason why the universe chose us as soulmates.
Remember when you first met me? I’d be forever thankful that Huening introduced us. Without him, I’d be too shy to approach you and we wouldn’t have met. When we shook hands while introducing ourselves, the glow in your eyes was so pretty. I would do anything to go back to that time. The feeling of meeting your soulmate… I will never forget it. I’m so glad you’re mine, I would have never thought that the boy I had been crushing on would be my soulmate, the one destined for me.
I never told you why I love you, have I? Buckle up, Tyun. You’re in for a ride.
I first saw you in English class. You helped that one boy in our class and I was literally the heart eyes emoji. I’ve never seen someone so gentle in teaching. When he didn’t understand your words, you explained it over and over to him, not a hint of annoyance crossing your face. If I were you, I’d give up right there and then. But you didn’t. You taught him again and again and again until he understood. I admire your kindness, truly. Not just that, but you’re so pretty! I know you’re probably tired of me saying this every day, but I’m serious about your prettiness. My first impression of you was: ‘So pretty… your eyes are so big… your nose is literally perfect….’ It’s literally illegal to be this pretty, Tyun.
Not only on the outside, but you’re also pretty on the inside. You’re so kind, brave, thoughtful… you’re basically every good adjective out there except I can’t think of anymore because I’m in so much pain. You’re basically perfect. I’m very lucky, aren’t I? I’d like to think I’m the luckiest person in the world because I’m dating you, Kang Taehyun. I mean, no one else would ditch their most important class of the day just to take care of me because I’m sick. Or walk for 20 minutes during Winter only because I wanted my weekly donut. I didn’t even ask you to do these things for me, you did it from the kindness of your heart.
I’m really sorry. I’m sorry for being sick. I’m sorry for not being able to spend the rest of our lives together. I’m sorry for hurting you. I’m sorry for leaving you. I’m sorry for everything. I wish that we weren’t soulmates so that you don’t have to bear the pain of losing your soulmate at the age of 19. Maybe, in another life, we could be together again. Maybe then, we could be as free as the wind. In another life, we would be soulmates again. I’m sure of it.
Promise me this: be happy. I don’t want my death to cause you any pain nor stop you from being you. Tyun, you’re one of the biggest positives in my life and I don’t want you to stop being a source of happiness for others. Go live your life, do things you love, be free! But please don’t forget about me. Ha.
I’ll end this letter here. I attached a picture of us in the roller skating rink that I took with the polaroid camera you gave me. There’s still some film left in the camera so you can use it! Take a picture of the stray cat near my house, or of the boys, or my funeral for I care, I just want you to make memories with that polaroid just like I did. Anyways, I love you a lot. I’ll miss you so much, but I will always look after you from above. We’ll meet again when the time is right. I love you!
With lots and lots and lots of love,
Y/N
Taehyun curls up in a ball in your untouched room. It has been 3 months without you. 3 months way too long. He misses you everyday. He misses your smile, your laugh, your eyes, your hugs, your everything. He hasn’t opened the letter because he holds onto it like a lifetime. He fears that when he does read it, you’ll truly be gone. Without his soulmate, it hurts so much. He wipes his tears away, sniffles, and faces the ceiling, holding onto the polaroid you attached with the letter.
“I miss you. You’re looking after me, right? So you can hear me saying this. I miss you a lot. I miss you more everyday.” he voices out, his throat in pain after crying, voice dry.
He looks across the room to see the desk where you two would usually do your homework together, annoying each other and laughing while the night goes on. There sat the polaroid. A pastel blue one, your favourite colour. Next to it lies your photo album. He still remembers every photo, but he decides to open it anyway.
Although his legs ache, he still walks toward the desk. He grabs the album and flips through every page. He holds onto it tightly, like it might slip through his hands and he’ll lose it forever.
He sighs. Taehyun looks toward the polaroid. He puts the album down and grabs the polaroid softly, sniffling once again.
“I’ll make more memories for you, Y/N. Thank you for everything. I love you.” he whispers.
Taehyun grabs the photo album, the letter and the polaroid, trudges towards the door and pulls it open. He took several steps before looking back onto the now unowned room. He smiles, and closes the door. He sniffles again before finally leaving the house. He takes in a deep breath of fresh air and walks home to try and start a new life without his soulmate by his side.

Hiya, so I have an idea for the drabble request :D may I request a fem reader x wanda maximoff one where wanda finds a book that reads '101 bucket list ideas' and flicks through it to find out each one is written with date ideas yn has dreamed of doing from before they started dating (and maybe added pages with more ideas than she can fit) and found some completed from dates they've gone on. 🥰😍😊
This is based on me getting this as a present (someone at work asked me to pick something so I asked for this and a 2021 diary) and this is what I'm going to use it for and hoping to tick them off in the future if and when I hopefully meet a girl, I just hope I am able to go on a date one day 🥺
Please and thank you, have a lovely day :)
I would love to have a bucket list book!  This is such a cute idea, all I have is a Pinterest board with my ideas and stuff on them.  I hope you enjoy this story!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wanda had been looking for a book when she found something better instead.  On one of the bookshelves in your shared room, she found a book with your handwriting on it and bold letters reading “Y/N’S BUCKET LIST”.  Curious she flipped it open and found pages dedicate to different things, some had pictures and completed dates while others were still blank and waiting to be fulfilled.
She found one dated from a few years before you met that said, “Write a message in a bottle.”  There was a picture of the letter in the bottle and then one of it floating out to sea.  Then another one that hadn’t been completed was, “Go shopping in Paris”.  The deeper in she discovered more of the bucket list ideas had to do with a couple of things.  “Dance in the rain”, “Recieve a love letter”, “have someone win me a stuffed animal at a fair”, and “go on an aquarium date”.
Smiling to herself Wanda put the book back and got to planning how she was going to help you figure out how to complete those items on your list.
A few days later you were reading in the common room of the compound when Natasha strolled in, “Hey Y/N, you got a letter.”
Confused you took it from her, but there wasn’t a return address.  Weird.
When you opened it though you recognized Wanda’s handwriting.
Dear Y/N,
I found your bucket list book the other day when I was looking for something to read.  I saw in there that you wanted to receive a love letter and I’m shocked that you haven’t yet!  I knew I immediately needed to remedy this and got to work.
I hope you know how much I cherish our days together and how much I love waking up next to you in the morning.  Since you’ve come into my life I’ve been 10x happier than before.  You make me smile and laugh, and you’ve never made me feel weird for the powers that I possess.  That means the world to me and so do you.
I promise that I’m going to help you complete every single one of your bucket list items one way or another.  Starting today with this letter and something else.
Right now you’ll find me in the garage, come meet me there and let’s start this adventure.
Love,
Wanda
You folded the letter up and placed it back in the envelope.  Before going to meet Wanda in the garage you made sure her letter was tucked safely in the pages of your bucket list book before hurrying off to see exactly what she had in mind.
Wanda was leaning against one of the many cars and she grinned when she saw you enter, “Got my letter, huh?”
You took her hands in yours and kissed her, “I did.  It was perfect, thank you.”  You glanced at the car and then back to her, “So where are we going?”
“That is a surprise,” she opened the door for you and then climbed into the driver’s side.  You tried guessing where the two of you were going, but she was being tight-lipped about this.  It wasn’t until she pulled into the parking lot of the local aquarium that you realized what she had planned.
The two of you walked hand in hand through the aquarium pointing out different fish and creatures in the tanks and listening to the workers give a little bit of history behind each one.  When you all left you thought that you would be heading back to the compound, but Wanda had other ideas.
You pulled into a little fair and you could have cried from happiness.  She really was making sure you completed the tasks you wanted.  You rode the rides first, even sharing a kiss at the top of the Ferris wheel before heading for the games.  Wanda managed to win you a giant teddy bear and a few smaller items from the various games there, and you even won her something as well.
“This was perfect,” you told her as you made your way back to the car.
Wanda smiled at you, “I only wish I could have made it rain.”
You chuckled and leaned your head on her shoulder, “We still have all the time in the world for that.”
When you made it home you printed out the pictures you had taken that day and tapped them in the bucket list book and added a date to the pages.  You smiled happily and couldn’t wait to see which items you and Wanda would complete next.
REQUESTS ARE CLOSED!
Any thoughts on the Star Wars EU novels?
Of course! (Long post ahoy.)
Disclaimer: I haven't read many yet, but I'm chipping away at the pile...and really what I've collected is just a drop in the bucket for all the Star Wars novels, so there is a lot I haven't gotten to and probably never will. I'll actually talk more about what I read in the past, because I only started revisiting the Extended Universe in the past week or so, and I'm rereading some anyway.
My first foray into the Star Wars EU was several years ago when I decided to stop fighting the SW geek within and give them a try. Allegiance was my first book, and it was not only better than I expected, but a great read! I read the sequel, Choices of One, and then, following some advice from a self-proclaimed Star Wars nerd, delved into the books that started it all: the Thrawn trilogy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of these books are by Timothy Zahn, and he's a very good writer. His plots are intricate and have good payoff, and his characters not only feel like their movie counterparts, but have believable thought processes as well. They don't always make good decisions, but they make decisions believable to their characters, and I appreciate that. Sometimes I felt like Thrawn was a little too smart, but after my recent reread I realize he made some miscalculations as well (so he can still feel 'human'...even though he's an alien), and even if it is too much, I definitely prefer an intelligent villain to a stupid one. Also, Zahn's world-building is excellent and I really like how he makes the galaxy feel diverse and big...even though main characters still have to all conveniently end up at the same place for the plot. :D
Next on my list was The Truce at Bakura by Kathy Tyres, and I remember thinking it was okay: a good read, if not really memorable. But after that I got into two trilogies written (one in full, another in part) by Kevin J Anderson. Ai-yi-yi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly I have no idea what even happened in those books: they were so tedious. I was really excited for the Jedi Academy books because Luke rebuilding the Jedi order sounded like a pretty fun story to me (plus the video game Jedi Academy was awesome, though completely separate from these stories), but uh, no. Basically everything that Timothy Zahn did well, Kevin J Anderson did very very poorly. His plots were boring and I got lost so many times in them; his characterizations were irritating, and I remember being ticked off at Han especially, though all were just...bad. They felt more like caricatures of themselves to me. And the Callista trilogy: UGH. To be fair, 2/3 of those books were written by another author, and I think the awkward romance-ish stuff was mainly in her books, but it was very painful to read and the whole time felt very pointless to me...like it wasn't going anywhere. And by the end, yeah, that's exactly how I felt: we'd come in a full circle and really nothing seemed to have changed. Sorry to any Anderson fans out there, but he just didn't do it for me. (Kind of dreading the Young Jedi Knights series he co-authored that were included in my thrift store trove...but maybe he does better for younger readers.)
The Courtship of Princess Leia I found disappointing--it just fell flat to me--but again, can't really remember much of it. I vaguely recall some interesting worldbuilding ideas, but as a whole it didn't feel very strong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for The Crystal Star...it was the absolute worst SW book I've ever read. Luke was completely off his rocker in it--actually the entire plot was off its rocker--but Luke especially was so pathetic it was very hard to read. I think the main plot was something about the Leia's kids being kidnapped but they were annoying so I didn't care much about them. Meanwhile there's some mind-controlling dude running around and possibly that's why Luke is such a loser here (?) and something to do with a star crystallizing and giving the evil villain superpowers while all our main characters just run around wringing their hands. Seriously, if you are wanting to try out the SW novels for yourself, do not start with this travesty of a book.
The next book I read was quite a jump in terms of publishing date: Revan, based off one of my favourite games of all time: Knights of the Old Republic. I'd heard the novel was not well-received by fans, but wanted to try it out for myself. I actually didn't mind it much until the ending, which felt like a forced twist to me, and kind of made everything before it pointless. Also some of the character decisions felt...off. So I can see why people didn't like it. And I guess I'm one of those people too, although I don't have intense feelings about it. I liked the descriptions of some of the worlds and there is one that I can still imagine, so that was fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I could talk a lot about my thoughts on a video game vs. a novelization spin-off too, but that's a completely different topic. But I do think that the difficulties of translating the one into the other are major factors into why this book was not so well received. I'm pretty 'meh' on it, but it was kind of fun with a let-down ending.
Anyway, I think that is where I ended my first Star Wars novels adventure, and journey #2 has barely started with me just finishing my re-read of the Thrawn books. Does it sound like I'm very negative about the EU? Maybe. Honestly, most of the books aren't great, with some big exceptions, but I don't go to Star Wars for highbrow culture. I love the SW movies (uh, the old ones anyway: I only saw the first new sequel) but I'll be the first to admit that they have a lot of flaws, particularly in the writing! But they're fun and exciting and I root for the characters and sometimes feel bad for the bad guys, and that's what I want. Maybe the more recently published books are higher quality, but I kind of doubt it. There's no denying this franchise is a cash cow and quantity trumps quality in that case. It's easier for me to find the old books than the new, but one day maybe I'll give some of the new books a try...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One last comment: I realize that every single book on this list has been deemed "Legends" since the Disney takeover, and only the newer books are now considered canon. Whatever, they can do what they want with their property. I do not have strong feelings about this, and actually understand why they did it because the Extended Universe is honestly a big mess. But I'm still going to read the big mess of "Legends" because that will always be my Star Wars era, and whether it's canon or not, there are still some fun, trashy, terrible, and exciting stories to enjoy.
In summary: If you enter the Star Wars EU with low expectations, you will never be disappointed, will probably still have fun, and sometimes might be pleasantly surprised. :)
You spent a lot of time with Jungkook, he'd been your best friend since you were kids, you grew up together because your parents were friends with one another so it was no wonder that you spent most of your time with him or your boyfriend of two years, Kim Seokjin. Jungkook had been the one to introduce you to Jin you'd gone to the dorms for Jungkook's coat and he introduced to everyone in the apartment at the time which was Jin, Namjoon and Yoongi, you instantly took an interest in Jin right away because you'd always loved older guys and he'd been kind to you the whole time you were in the apartment. Jungkook had fun teasing you about it for the first three years, promising never to tell Jin the truth because of how embarrassing it would be for you and for him but once Jungkook noticed Jin taking an interest you, he knew he had to do something. His version of doing something, however, was locking you both in a studio alone together without your phones forcing you into talking to one another for hours until Jungkook found it a reasonable time to come and let you out. Resulting in both you and Jin admitting your feelings for one another and Jin asking you out on a date, both of you promising to kill Jungkook for locking you away as if you were two children.
"Jin I'll be fine, it's just bungee jumping." You said one morning as you rushed around the shared apartment you had with Jin, he followed behind you trying to stop you from going but there was nothing he could say or do that would stop you. You and Jungkook had always loved doing adventurous things and this was something you'd been wanting to tick off your bucket list for years.
"Have you thought it through?!" He asked like a worried parent as you found your jacket and slipped it on, you nodded and looked out of the living room window, Kookie was sitting in the car waiting for you.
"I'm always fine remember, I'll be home before you know it with another killer story." You giggled running for the door only stopping when you caught a glance at Jin in the reflection of the window. You stopped and turned around, walking over to him and wrapping your arms around his neck, bringing your forehead against his and smiling.
"I love you." You whispered standing up on your toes so you could kiss him, his arms protectively wrapped around your waist and dragged you closer to his body. He wanted nothing more than to be able to keep you there with him, but he knew how much you'd been wanting to go on the bungee jump. You'd talked about nothing else this week except for that and who was he to stand in your way.
"Go, have fun." He chuckled letting you go and watching from the front door as you sprinted down the steps to Jungkook who was yelling goodbye to Jin. This week had been full of fun things you'd been together since they had the week off, it started off with Zorbing, the next day was rafting, go-karting, paragliding and now you were going bungee jumping, everything you and Jungkook had been dying to do since you were teenagers and now you had the chance to do it, you weren't going to say no.
Jin should have been used to all the times you went out with Jungkook and came back with horror stories, it'd been happening since the moment you started dating. You were always off doing crazy things together, sometimes dragging Jin along for the tamer things like paintballing and Go Karting. You were always coming back covered in cuts and bruises but nothing major, you were always careful when you went out, you knew how to look after yourself and it was nothing big. It didn't stop Jin from worrying all day though, wondering what you were doing until you text him or sent him a video of you getting put into the harness,
"See safe!" You yelled down the phone, Jungkook dancing behind you and making Jin chuckle at you both.
"We're going paintballing after, do you want to come?" You asked down the phone as you waited for your turn to go jumping, Jin looked at the clock on the wall,
"I promised Namjoon I'd go to lunch, maybe another time though." You hummed and looked over at Jungkook who was waving you over,
"I have to go, I'll see you after paintballing. I love you! Have Fun with Namjoon." You hung up the phone before Jin could tell you he loved you too but he smiled at how giddy you were being to go and bungee jump.
Tumblr media
The day had gone by so fast that Jin hadn't had the urge to check in with you, only checking his phone to see the occasional photo of you and Jungkook then he would see them on the BTS twitter with a cheesy caption, the fans had loved you since you were introduced in a video with Jungkook, though none of them knew about your relationship with Jin they all had their suspicions about it. Always screenshotting photos of Jin staring at you in videos, or catching you out together without Jungkook there but the paparazzi played it off as that you were just close friends with each member.
"They having fun?" Namjoon asked from across the table and Jin nodded showing him the video of you and Jungkook from that morning,
"They both take ten years off my life every time they hang out," He grumbled pushing play on the video,
"Jungkook did it upside down?" Namjoon asked nearly choking on his drink as he watched the second video that you'd sent Jin, it had you dying in the background laughing as Jungkook went upside down on the bungee jump.
"He's insane." Jin groaned laughing along with you in the video, he put his phone down onto the table and went on to tell Namjoon about what you'd been doing that week when his phone started ringing, he stared at your name and answered it,
"Hello?" Namjoon stared at his phone as it lit up with Jungkook's name and they both frowned.
"You're where? Y/n? You're breaking up...I can't hear you." Jin said down the phone to you but you couldn't hear him either, all he could hear from you was his name and a cry.
"Y/n?!" He yelled but the phone line went dead and Jin turned to Namjoon who was shaking his head, apparently getting the same bad connection with Jungkook as Jin was with you.
"I'll call her back, get the car," Namjoon said getting up from the table and paying for the food, dialling your number but getting your voicemail.
"It's Namjoon I'm with Jin, call me when you get this." He said in a hurry, hanging up and trying Jungkook's number but he got nothing with him either.
"They're probably just out paintballing and lost connection," Namjoon said trying to calm down Jin who looked like he was about ready to throw up as they walked to find the car.
"She was crying down the phone, fuck. I never should have let her go this morning." He grumbled unlocking the car and getting inside.
Tumblr media
"Not a big deal?! NOT A BIG DEAL?!" Jin screamed at you and Jungkook as you sat across from him sitting there like two children who were being scolded by a teacher. Namjoon stood by the door and shook his head at you both,
"You rang me in tears and then I couldn't get to you!" You watched as Jin began pacing in front of you, something he did a lot when he was going to go on a long rant in front of you. Jungkook stared at him nervously and you looked down at the floor.
"You're in a fucking hospital and it's not a big deal?!" He yelled again and you bit down on your lip, staring at the cast that was around your wrist and then back up at Jin nodding your head.
"It wasn't as bad as it sounds," You tried to say with a smile but Jin was serious about this and you stared at the floor again,
"It was an accident, she slipped from the rock-" Jin held his hand up not wanting to hear it from either of you again,
Tumblr media
"Jungkook it's on!" You screamed climbing one of the rocks in the park and aiming the gun at him, shooting him in the chest and laughing as he died on the floor.
"Fuck!" You screamed your foot slipping on the rock, you didn't expect to fall forward off the rock but you did, landing on the gun and snapping your wrist in a clean break.
"Shit! Y/n!?" Jungkook screamed dropping the gun from his arms and sprinting in your direction, you were on the floor screaming and crying out in pain, your arm was already turning a purple colour despite only happening a couple of seconds ago and you were whimpering when Jungkook went to touch you,
"We have to call Jin and Joon," He told you as you walked to find the exit of the paintball area, you were clinging to Jungkook with your good arm while trying not to bang your other one.
Tumblr media
"Look how pretty I made her cast though..." Jin stared at you both clearly not finding any of the story funny and he definitely didn't find the fact that in the time you were waiting for Jin and Namjoon to come and get you Jungkook had turned your cast into Iron Man's arm.
"It's pretty cool Jin, admit it." You said poking him with your finger and he licked his teeth,
"Joon take Jungkook to get something to eat, he looks famished," Jin said through gritted teeth, no one said anything as they left the room and you looked at the floor. Now you really did feel like a child that was getting into trouble. You felt the bed dip as Jin sat down next to you on it and you sighed,
"You can't be mad at Kookie, I climbed the rock on my own." You whispered to him, leaning your head on Jin's shoulder and sighing as he looked down at you.
"I'm not mad at either of you, I just- I was so worried when you called me and then I couldn't get back through." You didn't think about how much it would have affected him, you just assumed he would know you would be fine.
"I'm sorry Jin, I tried to get back through but the signal was awful out there." He turned you to look at him and he sighed looking at the cast, chuckling a little finding it funny now that he'd calmed down a little more.
"You and Jungkook are the reason stylists have to keep dying my hair, giving me greys." He joked poking your cheeks before he gave you a quick kiss on the lips.
"Does this mean I get to spend the rest of the week alone with you?" He questioned as he lifted up your broken wrist and you nodded,
"Does it mean you get to be my nurse and nurse me back to full health?" You joked getting up from the bed as the nurse walked into the room with your discharge papers.
"It means I get to look after you until you're fully healthy." He whispered in your ear as you signed the papers, making you giggle as you felt his breath on the back of your throat. Jungkook came back into the room holding up ice cream for you and Jin,
"This doesn't make up for you breaking my girlfriend." He warned taking the ice cream for the younger member and walking out of the hospital with you both.
"So when are we going paintballing again?" Namjoon smacked him around the back of the head and you both giggled.
The Wizard of Oz (1939); AFI #10
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next movie up for review from the AFI Top 100 is the most watched film of all time and likely the film I have seen all the way through the most times, The Wizard of Oz (1939). This film opens with what is rated as the very best song in film history. It continues with what is rated as the most well known moment in movie history. It moves forward with what is rated as one of the most well known plot lines in movie history. The movie ends with one of the most well known quotes in movie history. The shoes worn by the lead actress are one of the most popular exhibits in the Smithsonian Museum and listed as the most valuable and treasured film memorabilia in movie history. I am proud to say I know and love this film and am happy to discuss why it is so great. In case you have lived in a cave or been in a coma for 75 years, I will very briefly go over the story. For once I am not doing a spoiler warning. This breakdown is very non-specific and if you don’t know the story of the most watched film of all time that has been around for 80 years, that’s on you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) lives with her dog Toto on a Kansas farm belonging to her Aunt Em (Clara Blandick) and Uncle Henry (Charley Grapewin). Toto bites neighbor Miss Almira Gulch (Margaret Hamilton) on the leg, leading her to obtain a sheriff's order to have the dog killed. Miss Gulch takes Toto away, but he escapes and returns to Dorothy; she decides to run away to save her dog. Not far from the farm, Dorothy runs into Professor Marvel (Frank Morgan), a fortune-teller who uses his crystal ball to make the young girl believe that Aunt Em is heartbroken. Dorothy rushes home as a tornado approaches. Aunt Em, Uncle Henry, and the farmhands take shelter in the storm cellar and lock it behind them. Dorothy has to seek shelter in her bedroom, where the window is blown in and hits her on the head, knocking her unconscious. The house is sent spinning into the air, and she awakens to see various figures fly by, including Miss Gulch, who transforms into a witch on a broomstick.
The house lands with a sudden bump and Dorothy goes out to find that the land outside her house is a world of very bright color. She has landed in Munchkinland in the Land of Oz. The switch from sepia tone to color might be the most famous moment in cinema history. Glinda the Good Witch of the North and the Munchkins welcome her as a heroine, as the falling house has killed the Wicked Witch of the East. The Munchkins sing to her and offer her many gifts as the Wicked Witch had long terrorized the country. Suddenly, her sister, the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton again), arrives to claim her sister's ruby slippers, but Glinda transfers them onto Dorothy's feet. Enraged, the Wicked Witch swears revenge on Dorothy and vanishes. Glinda tells Dorothy to follow the Yellow Brick Road to Emerald City, where she can ask the Wizard of Oz to help her return home. On her journey, Dorothy meets the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), who wants a brain; the Tin Woodman (Jack Haley), who seeks a heart; and the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr), who desires courage. She invites them to accompany her and ask the Wizard for what they lack. Despite the Witch's attempts to stop them with sleeping spells and other magic, they reach the city. The group is stopped at the door by a guard (Frank Morgan again), let in and driven on a color changing horse (by a character played by Frank Morgan), and then taken by a soldier (again played by Frank Morgan) to see the Wizard (once again, played by Frank Morgan), who appears as a giant ghostly head. He agrees to grant their requests if they bring him the broomstick of the Wicked Witch of the West.
As they make their way to the Witch's castle, the Witch captures Dorothy and plots to kill her, as she cannot remove the slippers otherwise. Toto escapes and leads her three friends to the castle. They ambush three guards, don their uniforms, and free Dorothy. The Witch and more guards pursue and surround them. The Witch sets fire to the Scarecrow, causing Dorothy to toss a bucket of water on him, inadvertently splashing the Witch, who melts until only her black witch outfit remains. The guards rejoice and give Dorothy her broomstick. Upon their return, the Wizard stalls in fulfilling his promises until Toto pulls back a curtain, exposing the "Wizard" as a fraud operating machinery. Admitting to being a humbug, he insists he is "a good man, but a bad wizard." He gives the Scarecrow a diploma, the Lion a medal, and the Tin Man a ticking heart-shaped clock, helping them see that they already possessed the qualities they wanted. He offers to take Dorothy and Toto home in his hot air balloon, revealing that he is also from Kansas, and was originally a carnival showman before his balloon escaped the Earth and brought him to the Emerald City.
As Dorothy and the Wizard prepare to depart, the Wizard places the Scarecrow in charge of Emerald City, with the Tin Man and the Lion as his aides. Toto leaps from Dorothy's arms. As Dorothy pursues Toto, the balloon departs with the Wizard. Glinda then appears and tells Dorothy that she has always had the power to return home using the ruby slippers. After Dorothy bids the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion goodbye, Glinda instructs her to tap her heels together three times and say, "There's no place like home." When Dorothy does, she wakes up in her bedroom, surrounded by her family and friends. Everyone dismisses her adventure as a dream, but Dorothy insists it was real. She says she will never run away again and declares, "There's no place like home!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me mention the one and only thing that bothered me about the story and that is the fate of Toto. The dog is not cleared of biting Gulch and would still be scheduled to die. Whether or not the victim is dead, the sheriff would still have his order to kill the dog. I would have liked a throw away line saying that the dog was pardoned. I imagine that the dog was given a reprieve, but there is no evidence of this and falls squarely to my own imagination.
Although not listed as the greatest American movie, the AFI has put this movie on more top lists than any other film. The Wicked Witch of the West was the #4 villain, “Over the Rainbow” was the #1 song, “Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore” is the #4 quote, the movie is #43 in thrills and #26 in cheers, and it is the #3 musical and the #1 fantasy. In the last 30 years, the movie was in the inaugural 25 movies to go on the National Film Registry, listed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World, and placed as one of the top 100 movies by the BFI, Total Film, Sight and Sound, Entertainment Weekly, Bravo, Rolling Stone, and The Village Voice. There really is no question as to the value of this film and its iconic place in film history.
Like many other films, however, this film had a lot of problems in production. Famously so. Wicked Witch actress Margaret Hamilton was burned very badly with pyrotechnics during the fiery exit from Munchkinland. The Tin Man was supposed to be played by Buddy Ebsen, but the original paint used for the costume was toxic and Ebsen was rushed to the hospital and had to leave the project completely. The opening song was set to be cut for time, but the director fought for it. Speaking of directors, the film started out with Norman Taurog, who was replaced by Richard Thorpe, who was replaced by George Cukor briefly (who eventually became an advisor), who was finally replaced by Victor Fleming. The direction of the film that is now known and loved was mostly the idea of Cukor despite Fleming getting the credit.
The actors also had a difficult time with the shoot because of the whole studio system of the 30s and 40s. The producers did not recognize the toxic effects of the makeup on the actors until one of them was hospitalized. Most of the main actors had dual roles (this includes the witch, the lion, the tin man, the scarecrow, and the man playing the wizard had 5 speaking roles) and were constantly exhausted. The little people that played the munchkins were famously mistreated and were payed less than the dog. Because of this, it is reported that many of the little people actors behaved poorly on set.
The child actors who portrayed Munchkins that are still alive today (there are still a few) say that everything was hectic with a constant sense of urgency, but it was because everyone seemed to know they were making something great. What had originally seemed like a hokey fairy tale was truly becoming magical, and everyone on set wanted to be a part of it. I know that thinking everyone was treated well and were glad to be there in a Hollywood production from the 30s is very naïve, but the product is so perfect and beautiful that I have to believe.
The performance of Margaret Hamilton was so over the top and perfect. Her ability to do an evil laugh is what nailed the part, and she used this to terrify viewers into believing her to be murderous. She never kills anyone, but she sure likes to play with fire around the scarecrow. Hamilton worried that she would be typecast as an evil character and scare children (which she was and did). It did not stop her from getting into the part and she did it so well that children ran away from her in real life. I found her face in the crystal ball to be especially terrifying.
It is very difficult to separate the beauty of the film and the beauty of the music. Most of the songs are quite whimsical and used to introduce the characters. The sound is like an extra character as it reveals mood changes and gives away character traits. The witch’s theme gives the feel of something hunting you down. The wizard is wonderous and awesome. Dorothy is melancholy but at the same time hopeful. The traveling music, called “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” might be the most descriptive sound for feeling and speed ever put to film. The score keeps the film constantly moving and tells the story when the characters aren’t able. And of course there is the opening. My mom used to sing this to me at bedtime and I thought she sounded just like Judy Garland. This comparison is likely not objectively true, but I love my mom and I loved hearing her sing so it was subjectively even better.
One last thing that I am noting as the movie plays as I type: the sets are amazing. The entire movie was shot on gigantic sound stages and the back drops are hundreds of giant murals. Some of the sets must have been massive because the characters go in so deep towards the background. Even the shots of Kansas with the plains in the background are giant sets. It is fun to try and figure out where the stage stops and the backdrop begins. It is hard to tell in some cases which trees are on the set and which trees are painted.
The question that I always answer at the end of my AFI film reviews do not even really need to be asked on this occasion, but I will do it for consistency and posterity. Does this film deserve to be on the AFI list? Of course. There is no movie that currently exists that deserves it more. It is an allegory for the American dream and a simple tale of the American state of mind at the turn of the 20th century. This film will always have a place on this list. Would I recommend it? Simply yes. There is no film that I would recommend more. It does not matter the age or background of the person asking, I would 100% freely recommend this film. Please watch it if you haven’t. If you have, watch it again.
I try and stay away from topical notes while making these reviews, but we are almost a year into the pandemic and it is likely going to be a terrible winter of loss. There are few things that make me happier when stuck inside than a great movie and there is no better movie for a time like this than The Wizard of Oz. It is the kind of thing that keeps us hopeful in the most simple and beautiful way. Due to travel bans and health issues, I am missing a Christmas with my mom for the first time that I can remember (I think in my life) and I felt a little better after watching the film. For a feeling of joy and love for that home you love most, watch the movie and feel good, even if just for a little bit.
BTS Reaction: Your First Time Drinking Alcohol
Jin:
The two of you weaved your way through the crowds towards the bar, Jin’s hand guiding you through, making sure he didn’t lose sight of you.
“What do you want jagi? Lemonade? Coke?” He asked, grabbing his wallet out of his purse. “I’m pretty sure that they do soft drinks here.”
“Can I try that drink you like?” You nervously asked, not able to recall it.
He nodded, wanting to make sure. “A vodka lemonade, are you sure it’s what you want?”
You nodded too as he ordered two and paid for them. “My first-time drinking alcohol,” you giggled.
“No pressure.” You took the tiniest sip, your lips pursing as the vodka hit you. Jin couldn’t help but chuckle at your face. “So, what did you think? Would you have it again?”
Your shoulders shrugged, “it’s certainly different, but I think I like it. Maybe you’ll have to buy me a few more, just to be sure.”
“I’m sure I can do that.”
Tumblr media
Yoongi:
You all gathered around the rehearsal room, just as the clock struck midnight and the next BTS album was released, flutes of champagne being passed around.
“I’ll take yours,” Yoongi whispered into your ear, not wanting to make a big deal out of it, “don’t worry about anything.”
“I’ll do it,” you replied, “it’s celebrating you and the band, I’ll drink it.”
He frowned down at you, “don’t feel like you have to, it doesn’t bother me.”
You squeezed his hand gently. “It bothers me, plus what better moment to try it than right here.”
“Alright.” The flutes were passed around as Namjoon made a toast, clinking glasses, before all drinking. “How was that?” Yoongi asked, finishing his drink before you did.
You were left confused at the taste in your mouth. “I think I like it, but I’m not convinced. You’re lucky it’s a special occasion otherwise I would never have tried that.”
“Your face was a picture though when you drunk it!”
Tumblr media
Hoseok:
He sat down beside you ready to watch the movie you’d picked out, a glass of beer in his hands, taking a quick sip of it before you prepared to press play.
“Only got yourself a drink, did you?” You teased, opening your empty hands out, reaching out into empty air. “Very mean of you.”
“If you want a beer, I can get you one. Why don’t you try a bit of mine?”
You nodded, taking the bottle from him. “I didn’t think beer would be my first ever taste of alcohol.”
Hobi chuckled, “neither did I, but you can’t turn back now, take a sip.”
“Fine.” You took a sip, cringing at how disgusting it was. “How can you even drink that? It’s so gross, it doesn’t even have any taste to it?”
He took the drink back, easily taking a sip. “Now would you like me to get you a drink?” He teased, clasping onto your empty hands.
“Absolutely not, that was disgusting.”
Tumblr media
Namjoon:
The waiter came over to your table as the two of you sat down to dinner to celebrate your anniversary, asking for your drink’s orders.
“I might try one of the house special cocktails, and a diet coke for my girlfriend please,” Namjoon spoke on your behalf.
“Actually, I’ll have a cocktail too, try something new,” you requested just before the waiter walked away.
Namjoon looked at you in confusion. “I’m sure they do mocktails. You never drink, what’s brought this on?”
You giggled, “I’m feeling adventurous tonight, I thought I might try one seeing as it’s our anniversary.”
“I’m not going to stop you.” The waiter came back with your drinks a few minutes. “Cheers to love, and another year of happiness,” Namjoon toasted, your glasses clinking together.
You took a small sip to begin with, enjoying the fruity tastes. “That’s amazing, why have I never drunk a cocktail before, I’ve really been missing out.”
“I have tried to tell you that before.”
Tumblr media
Jimin:
Your eyes scanned the shelf, picking up a bottle of gin you spotted, rhubarb and ginger flavour, debating with yourself if it was what you wanted.
“Gin?” Jimin asked, coming up beside you. “You don’t even drink, why would you be looking to buy gin jagi, I don’t understand.”
“One of my friends recommended it, so I’m thinking about trying it.”
Jimin’s smile grew, “I know you’d love it. Stick it in the trolley, I’ll even buy it for you.”
You shook your head, “I can buy my own drink, I think I’ve got some lemonade at home anyways.”
The two of you headed home and later that night Jimin made you your first alcoholic beverage. “It’s a refined taste, don’t decide you don’t like it straight away,” he said.
“I’ll be fine,” you replied, taking a few small sips, the flavour hitting you. “Wow!” You exclaimed, “that’s amazing, Y/F/N was right, this is some amazing stuff, gin is my new favourite thing.”
“Drink that one and I’ll make you another love.”
Tumblr media
Taehyung:
He came back to the table, two drinks in his hands, placing them down, eyes widening once he’d realised what he’d done, pouring two wines rather than one.
“Sorry love, I’ll drink that one, just forget I did that,” he whimpered in embarrassing, reaching out to move the glass, but you stopped him.
“I think that was your way of telling me to try some,” you teased, removing his hand.
He shook his head, mortified by his mistake. “I wasn’t I promise, you don’t have to drink it.”
“I want to,” you replied, “just sit down, and stop worrying, it’s really not a problem.”
He did as you said, watching him closely as you took your first sip. “Interesting taste,” you chuckled, taking another sip, “I quite like it, what sort of wine is it.”
“Just an old one I found in the fridge, all I know is that it is a red one,” he informed you, “but if you don’t like it, don’t feel obliged to drink anymore.”
“Taehyungie, I love it, just calm down and drink, goodness knows you need to relax.”
Tumblr media
Jungkook:
You both sat opposite each other, a pint of cider in both of your hands, sniffing at it to get a hint of the smell. You chuckled, glancing over at an apprehensive Jungkook.
“Are you sure you want to try it with me?” You asked him. He quickly looked up at you, nodding his head. “Our first-time drinking alcohol, another one to tick off the bucket list.”
“It smells nice, so let’s see what it tastes like, cheers to alcohol, and growing up!”
Your glasses clinked. “Cheers, after three, I say we both just take a massive sip and see what happens.”
Jungkook nodded, “sounds good to me, one, two, three!”
You both took the biggest sips you could, you liked it, whilst Jungkook squirmed as it ran down his throat. “That tastes delicious, what did you think Kookie?”
“I’ve got mixed opinions,” he chuckled, “perhaps not my favourite. I think I’ll stick to drinking chocolate milk for now.”
“So much for being grownups!”
back after a long break
I had tumblr from ~2010 to ~2016, and I used it almost every day to update my blog, scroll through my dash and reblog pretty travel and hiking photos - because getting away was the thing I wanted most in the world at that time in my life. (angsty teen vibes, you know the drill)
The craziest thing is, that since 2016 I’ve been travelling non-stop and living overseas and this travel aesthetic of a dewy morning deep in a forest with a combi-van in the background just doesn’t do it for me anymore. I ticked so many things off my travel bucket list that most of these photos don’t excite me anymore.
Besides, I’ve met a lot of people through my travels that it really brought to light how many people don’t realise that travelling is an immense privilege and that you don’t become a better, more enlightened person by being able to do so. It kind of made me not want to identify as ‘that person’ who talks non-stop about their adventures, and who constantly has something to say about their time in [country].
Don’t think that travelling has made me bitter, it made me a lot of things but not that. I think I just went into the whole adventure with a very naïve view of the world, and came out the other end with the realisation that these people I met along the way were in no way capable of changing me the way I felt I needed to be changed. People are the same whether you’re in your home town, or on the other side of the planet.
In saying that, I thought I could use this blog to share some memories I have of travelling, and some thoughts and feelings I have about my living situation. I tend to forget a lot of the things I’ve seen and done, so it might be nice to get it out there. I struggle sometimes with my life-choices - I’ve been living for the past 5 years on the other side of the world from my closest friends and family. I’ve sacrificed a lot so that I could live this lifestyle, and I’ve sort of come to terms with that over the past half-decade. But every now and then it hurts deeply, and it’s a hurt I never could have imagined as a depressed 21-year old who just wanted to get away.
Anyway, I don’t know if anybody will ever read this, but maybe my experiences can make some people feel some things.
The Bucket List
Tumblr media
The Bucket List #1
Genre: pretty much a roller coaster of feelings, angst, fluff and everything in between
Characters: Lee Chan (Dino from Seventeen), Mina (reader)
(A/N: This will be a series consisting of drabbles, ticking all of Mina’s wishes from her list)
introduction| first tick| to be continued
Tumblr media
"So now what?" I ask as Chan walks confidently on the side-way in our neighborhood.
He turns his head towards me and smiles brightly. I can't help but smile as well. Then, he digs his hands deeper in the pockets of his jacket and shrugs.
"Number nine," he says and I look at the paper in my hands, trying to remember what my ninth wish was.
Sing a happy song while walking on the street.
Why did I even write this?
I sigh and shake my head, looking at the sun rays that were beautifully painting the houses on our street. Everything looked so peaceful and warm that it made my heart fill with joy.
"This is stupid, Chan, we can just... forget about this one, I don't know what I was thi-"
"I like it and I'm gonna do it anyway," he shrugs, his smile widening. Then, he turns his head towards me, slightly tilting it to the side. "It's up to you if you want to join me or not."
I sigh, realizing that if my best friend decided something, there was no going back. What's the worst that can happen anyway?
I let out a deep breath and smile a little, trying to get in the mood to sing whichever song crossed Chan's mind.
"What are we singing?" I ask and he smiles again, probably proud that he convinced me.
"What about The Lazy Song?" He smiles and I chuckle.
"Bruno Mars? I could've bet you would choose something by mister Jackson."
"Oh but you're too bad of a singer to jam to his songs," he shrugs and I punch his left arm. "Kidding. You should choose the song, though, it was your idea in the first place."
He fishes out his phone from the pocket of his jeans and starts typing something on it before looking at me expectantly.
"What?" I ask.
"We need a background, don't we?" He says and I nod, realizing that we were probably not going to be able to carry one through an entire song anyway. "So? Your choice?"
"Surprise me," I say.
"I don't know any song with that title," he frowns and I laugh.
"Just choose whatever you like, I'm sure I'll enjoy it too," I explain and he smiles.
A few moments pass before I suddenly hear am upbeat song coming from the speaker of Chan's phone. I recognize it immediately.
"You can never go wrong with Shake it off," Chan smiles and I laugh.
We begin jamming to the song we used to listen almost daily a few years ago. A few neighbors pass by us, some throwing us confused glances, some smiling and some frowning as if we've just vandalized their houses. I blush in embarrassment and I tug at Chan's sleeve every time, trying to make him keep it low-key in order not to look crazy. But he shrugs me off.
Eventually, I begin ignoring my surroundings as well and as Chan was doing some of his remarkable dance moves, I was singing as of there was no tomorrow.
" 'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake I shake it off, I shake it off... "
When the song ends, Chan strikes a cool ending pose and I laugh at how passionate he has been the whole time. I clap and he gives me one of his bright smiles, resembling one of those artists performing on big stages.
"See, you just gotta shake it off," he says and I laugh again, still drunk on the feeling.
Some neighbors might not greet me starting from today, but it was worth it.
"It was actually fun," I say, letting out a heavy breath as we continue walking down the street.
"See? I told you," Chan says. "That list is about to be our map in an unforgettable journey... and we have seen nothing yet."
I get a pen out of my pocket and tick the ninth box. We did it. We actually did something on this list.
I smile as we continue walking down the street.
Towards our next adventure.
Food and Wine Festival
Tumblr media
Food and Wine Festival
Tom Holland x Reader
Warnings: Fluff and Food
Summary: A trip to Disney World, but seeing it in a new light.
A/N: This is my first of two works I have for @peeterparkr and @marvelousxtsh (now @lovestrucktom) for their Rom Coms writing challenge. Both of them are separate from one another. I am VERY LATE on this, but I had to get my college readings annotated before band camp starts because I know I will have no time then to work at all.
#mandnchickflicksummer
I’ve only been to Epcot once on a band trip and I realized why I don’t like it (or maybe it’s just my family). I tried to do some research before writing this. Comments and feedback are always appreciated. Requests are open and Messages are open if you want to chat. I’m trying to make these shorter because I’m behind on some of my writing. Also, sorry for not really putting the events in order by where they are in the park. I haven’t been there in years and forget how it’s set up. P.P.S. As I was googling stuff, the question came up on what phd does Dr. Doofenshmirtz have on reddit? The person who asked had a username of u/SEND_ME_YOUR_D1CK and that made me laugh at 5 a.m. I’m going to link the two videos that helped me out. One is from Disney Food Blog which gives great coverage on disney snacks in all parks and one is a vlog from one of my favorite youtubers, Syndicate (on his Life of Tom vlog channel)
Disney Food Blog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNk550AeBuY
Life of Tom vlog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG1-M-EqdLo
P.S. Ok, I’ve now seen Far From Home because I won a bet and my mom said she’d take me to see my first Marvel movie in theaters. I’m going to write something else about what happened that day. ♡
Tag list: Send me an ask if you want to be added.
@trashinaglass and @peter-pan-hoe ( @definitely-not-black-cat and @nnatasha you two seemed to like my stuff so I added you, tell me if you want me to take you off)
Song Prompt:
1. I see the light – Tangled
Word count: 1,383
This ended up being so much longer than I intended.
"Tom. Please. I've been to Disney World a million times. I can probably make it around Magic Kingdom without a map that's how well I know it." It was late summer, before the hussle of school and work swept everyone away, Tom wanted to get away for a mini vacation with you.
“Please come with me. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. And you know how much Disneyland freaks out when there's a celebrity there. Also, you can go on different things that you wouldn't normally go on.” You don’t like to admit when he’s right. Your family can be a little controlling when it comes to vacations. Like why does a baseball game need to be involved in every one.
“You know that won’t stop people from coming up to you.”
“We’ll just wear our matching bucket hats and be that couple. Please.” You couldn’t resist his puppy pout anymore, and you both needed a break.
“Ok, as long as we don't go on roller coasters if I get sick from one.”
“I won't make you go through that. Especially the amount of stories you tell me about someone being sick on vacation.”
After a long plane ride and a good night's rest, you two are ready for a trip. You got your backpack with the old school Disney World logo ready to get your weekly tickets. You got the tickets while Tom was spending time with a couple people who noticed him. You both never minded it as long as they were respectful. You thank the lady as Tom heads back to where you’re standing.
“Ok, you want to head to Epcot first?”
That five letter word made you choke on your own spit.  You followed Tom up the railway to the monorail. As you waited in line, you felt the need to tell Tom what's been eating at your mind. “Tom, you know I don't really like Epcot that much.”
“What! Why?”
“Well, the only other time I've been here was with my family once we went on the band field trip here. You know my dad never keeps his opinion to himself about how he thinks all of this ozone layer and eco saving thing is bullshit and how he hates culture. He just kinda complained that whole day, so I've never liked the park. Also, there's more food than rides here and you know I’m not a big food guru.”
“Is your dad coming with us?”
“What?”
“Is your dad coming on our vacation with us?”
“No. But what does that-.”
“Then his opinion and voice should not affect our judgement.” To be fair, Tom has changed your opinion on a lot of things, football (English kind) being one of them. You just didn't know if you could shut up that annoying tick in the back of your head that repeats all the things your Dad would say about this place, but you were willing to give it a shot. You grabbed a food passport and map in front of the golf ball and off you two went.
Before entering the park, you booked fastpasses for the one thing you knew you loved at Epcot, and that was Sorin’. It felt like you had wings and earth with its gravity could never take hold of you again. Even with the fastpasses the line wasn’t too long because people wanted to be the first to get the food in all the countries. It reminded you how Harry would have his drones to get the cinematic videos of the ocean washing up on the beach that look gorgeous. But alas, you had to touch ground again and continue.
You two went to have a good time eating stuff. Like you wanted to order everything from the Irish stand, except the alcohol which Tom took so you could keep the decorative cup (best boyfriend ever), so you settled on chocolate pudding with custard and the two of you split the Irish sausage with potatoes and gravy. You two weren’t worried about overfilling yourselves because 1) everyone does that at the food and wine festival and 2) there weren’t many rides that could make you throw up afterwards.
You grab a Light Lab Phosphorescent Phreeze (you secretly wanted to collect all the cups you could) and signed up to do a Perry the Platypus adventure in the UK (just to see if Tom liked their stereotyping). “Okay, well this is from and American Disney Show Phineas and Ferb where they do a bunch of crazy stuff during the summer, and the subplot is their pet platypus is a secret agent that stops this not-so-good supervillain every episode. Dr. Dofesnberg-something was his name. You basically have to go to different shops within the country, follow the story video on our phone, and some objects will move as you interact with stuff. Basically stopping this guy from carrying out his completely elaborate and unnecessary evil scheme to rule the world.”
“Okay, and of course it’s about golf. How can you get more British than that.” Apparently the adventure included tea once you told the cashier a secret word phrase, so yes, it got more British than golf.
You guys stopped by Canada and you could not stop doing impressions of Ryan Renolds as you stopped for a quick snack as the Perry the Platypus mission took an hour. You ordered a Canadian Cheddar Cheese and Bacon soup with pretzel rolls to split (of which you only at the pretzels because even Tom doesn’t know why you don’t like bacon).
After the Frozen ride and a couple more snacks along the way you settled in China and watched some acrobatics and get out of the heat. You couldn’t do everything in Mexico, but the San Angel Inn would be a place you save for a different trip. You got your faces painted to be half skulls with decorative details. It definitely helped you get recognized less.
Last stop of the night before the fireworks/water show you traveled to Japan. The architecture was realistic and you just thought of the time it took for someone to design and construct that. You both waited in line to try to see if you could get a pearl out of an oyster. You both end up getting one with the lady being very excited for you two. “Mine was 7 ¾ mm, and what was your Tom?”
“7 ½ mm. But you know size doesn’t matter.”
It wasn’t long before the fireworks and lights danced on the water’s surface and you two were heading back from a long day. Tom wanted to take the ferry boat back complaining that the line for the monorail was too long. It always is but the boat was very slow. You gave into his wishes because he was the one who made you enjoy the park today. You stood over the bow of the ship looking at your reflection upon the water until Tom broke you from your thoughts.
“So, didn't I say you would have a good time?”
 “Yes you did. My dad's opinion did not affect my judgement as much as I thought it would. It’s still hard to see things with my own opinion, but I’m getting better at it. Thank you Tom.”
“My pleasure princess. Maybe next time we can crack some oysters and keep the pearl” You two share a sweet kiss and the fireworks in Magic Kingdom across the water started going off. Nothing could make this moment more romantic. “But there's still one more thing to do tonight.”
“Thomas Stanley Holland. Do NOT follow that statement with ‘when we get back to the hotel’.”
He laughed so much that he leaned back and his eyes crinkled in the corners. “Not what I was going to say darling.” You’re still confused at his intentions, until he starts playing music from his phone and holds your arms out while you two are on the tip of the boat; keeping his hands on your hips.
“Only you could turn this into a Titanic moment. “I'm flying Jack. I'm flying.”
The moment had gotten better once you realized Tom had asked a crew member to take your picture, and now you have a new phone background and a new perspective.
