Avengers
I need help with finding a wattpad book on avengers x little!reader.
So I once read this fan fic of the avengers team which included: steve rogers, bucky barnes, Tony stark, pepper potts, Bruce banner,Thor odinson, natasha romanoff, wanda maximoff, vision, Clint barton and sam Wilson as the reader (who's named violet) caregivers.
Because Violet was used and abused so the avengers saved her and she at first felt nothing of her physical wounds but then the avengers told her that's not normal and got her looked at by bruce. And got her off the painkillers that her captor put her on.
One chapter has a protocol that she can't use the bathroom bc she is hurting her self by not being little so they kind of have to pressure her into being little.
Then loki and stephen stranger baby sit in one chapter. Which reveal that loki is also a little. Then there is carol as a little.
And another chapter where wanda and vision give violet schoollessons (bc she was capture really young and doesn't know hoe to write or read). Then they discover that Violet has dyslexia by telling her to go right and she takes a left, off of visions suspicions.
Also Steve and bucky are a pair and later violet starts dating Natasha and Natasha helps violet through her first period.

pairing: steve rogers x fem/afab reader
Tumblr media
next ↠
word count: 2.8k
warnings: obv swearing, pregnancy/pregnant reader, some angst that's mainly reader trying to cover up hidden emotions
summary: you've grown to resent steve after a breakup and give him the cold shoulder for weeks. you soon discover you're pregnant and show back up on his doorstep to tell him the news.
a/n: definitely turning this into a series if it gains enough traction!
Tumblr media
It was a warm summer evening like any other when Steve had asked you to come straight home after work, insisting he had something important to talk about. You had entered your shared apartment with expectations of a nice dinner or a movie night. Considering Steve was always one for suspension, surprise plans and at-home date nights weren't unusual.
You set your purse down on the table by the front door before sinking into your favorite recliner. The setting sun cast a glow amongst the living room that you greatly appreciated, although it was a glow that was far too beautiful to be wasted on that night.
"Steve! I'm home!"
Only a few seconds after you'd called out had he come, practically, running. He came to sit on the couch, only a few feet away, his expression conflicted.
"I missed you today," you said.
You beamed at your fiancé, simply happy to see him after another shitty work day. While you were an Avenger, you stuck to mainly office work when you had no missions.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally spoke, his voice barely above a whisper, "Y/n, honey, I think we need to talk."
Your heart sank, and a lump formed in your throat. You knew Steve like the back of your hand, and every time he has said the words "we need to talk," it's never been good.
"Is Buck sneaking over to eat all of our sweets again? I thought you talked to him about that," you joked in an attempt to lighten the tension.
"Funnily enough, no, he hasn't done that in a few days."
"Well, don't jinx it."
He chuckled briefly. His hands ran over his face as he sighed, and his broad shoulders relaxed.
"I've been thinking- a lot," he began, avoiding your gaze. "Baby, you know I love you, right?"
You hummed, giving him a nod that allowed him to continue.
"I love you, but..."
As soon as you had heard the "but," you tuned out. Whether it was by choice, or whether your mind and heart already knew what he was going to say and were just saving you the extra heartbreak, you weren't sure. You did, however, catch the last part of it. And luckily, the last part was all you needed to hear from him.
"I can't allow this to continue. I'm no good for you, y/n. I can't be the man you need or deserve right now. It's not fair to keep you waiting while I'm still trying to figure out what I want."
Your brows furrowed as your body started becoming tense. "What...?" you muttered.
It was less of a question and more of you thinking aloud, vocalizing your confusion. Unless you were a completely oblivious idiot, things between the two of you were fine yesterday, and every day before that for the last two years. He sighed, finally meeting your gaze. His eyes were filled with regret that you somehow missed.
"I... I can't take the risk anymore. I need to focus on my responsibilities and protecting the world. It's just... I can't let my personal life get in the way of my promise to the world."
Tears welled up in your eyes, but you quickly wiped them away before they could fall. You had the same job, so how could the man who had proposed only a few months ago just now, after two years, decide he couldn't make this work because of his job? Either way, that man didn't deserve your tears, so you wouldn't waste them on him. You stood quickly, not bothering to look back at him as you made your way towards the door.
"Y/n? Where are you going? Please say something, baby-"
"Don't! You don't get to call me that anymore," you snapped, finally allowing yourself to show some sort of emotion. "Just...stop. There's nothing else to say."
His eyes widened a little at your sudden outburst. You picked up your purse and keys hastily. Your fingers fidgeted with the keys for a moment, then you started sliding your house key off your keychain. It was then that you decided to speak again before he got the chance to, not caring to hear another word from him.
"I'll have someone come get my stuff tomorrow; do whatever you want with the apartment, as long as you don't have to contact me to do it."
"Y/n," he spoke with softened, glossy eyes, "please, just stay until you find somewhere else to go. This is your home too, I-"
"There's too much of you, well, what used to be us, here," you stated plainly as you placed your key on the table. "Where I go isn't your problem anymore anyway."
A sigh escaped your lips as you slung your purse over your shoulder. You turned to face him one last time as you stood in the doorway.
"Oh, and one more thing," you say, "You are a fucking coward, Steven Grant Rogers."
The door slammed behind you. And what you'd left behind was a deeply regretful, and utterly stupid, Steve sitting alone on the couch in the apartment you once shared.
Tumblr media
That was almost two months ago, and your heart had not allowed you to heal at all. As if seeing Steve in passing at work wasn't painful enough, now you had an important mission coming up tomorrow, and being chosen to go with him was inevitable. Or at least you thought it was inevitable. It had all started earlier in the morning with a rotten egg- an actual rotten egg, that is.
You were baking cookies for Bucky, fully aware of how much he'd miss your baked goods for the next week or two you would be gone. Over the time that you and Steve had dated and been engaged, you'd gotten pretty close with the brunette. He was equally supportive of both of you during the breakup. Though he did lay into Steve for leaving you. Bucky knew there was more to it than his job; both of you had the same job for Christ's sake, but he didn't push his friend for answers—at least not yet.
With one gentle motion, you cracked the egg on the side of your metal bowl. However, this egg had a smell to it. You brought it closer to your face to observe and smell it. What a horrible mistake, though, because as soon as you inhaled the sickening, sulfur-like scent, it made your stomach turn. But instead of going back to normal, you gagged. The scent was lingering longer than any other scent you'd ever smelled, almost as if you were permanently damned to having the smell stuck in your nostrils.
Then the hot stomach acid started coming up, and it was coming fast, signaling you needed a trashcan now. You bolted towards the nearest bathroom, preferring to take a chance on making a mess in a hallway rather than the kitchen. You passed Steve and Bucky on your way there, both men stopping dead in their tracks to watch as you ran into the bathroom only a few feet behind them.
"Huh," Steve mumbled, his heart throbbing at the sight of you.
"Sometimes I get sick when I look at you too, punk."
Bucky chuckled at his own joke, earning a glare from Steve.
"Go check on her for me, please."
"Always. But I won't keep giving you updates on her, y'know? It's not fair to her, Steve," Bucky sighed.
Steve only nodded in understanding, a smile only staying on his lips for a few seconds. He patted Bucky's back before turning on his heels and continuing on his path.
Your stomach clenched harder, and the vomit raced up your throat faster than ever. You barely got to the toilet before retching and gagging again, feeling instant relief when the bile finally came up. But then came a sudden second wave of nausea that seemed to be worse than the first. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the torture finally ended.
You stood up slowly and made your way to the sink. After tearing off a piece of paper towel, you dampened it under warm water. You wiped your mouth off with the damp napkin and threw it away before opening the door to leave.
"You okay?"
You jumped back slightly, looking over to meet piercing blue eyes. There was Bucky leaning up against the wall next to the bathroom door with his arms crossed.
"Jesus, Buck. You stalking me?"
"Stalking you? Definitely not. If I wanted to stalk someone, I'd find someone more interesting who doesn't eat half pints of vanilla bean ice cream and watch Pride and Prejudice or The Notebook every night," he jokes.
"Hey! It's how I cope and get over things; it's soothing."
"Yet you still pine over him, so how's that working out for ya?"
"...not great. Maybe I do need a new method, huh?"
The two of you exchange a laugh, and you start making your way back to the kitchen with Bucky right on your heels.
"So, are you okay?" he questions again.
"Just felt a little sick, that's all. And, hey, here's a tip: don't ever smell a rotten egg, it's not a pleasant experience," you say with a soft sigh.
He chuckles at your joke and replies, "Thank you for that. I'll remember that."
When you make it to the kitchen, he plants himself on a bar stool only a few feet away from you. You decide to continue making your cookies, holding your breath as you clean up the old egg.
"Wow, I can smell that from here. You weren't lying. That is bad."
His nose turns up and his face scrunches, earning a giggle from you. You two chat as you make the dough, and soon enough, you're finished baking. As you put the last cookies on the tray, Bucky stands up to get a closer look.
"God. Per usual, those smell amazing," he groans, reaching for one of the hot sweets.
You swat his hand away with a laugh. "Not until they're cooled down!"
He fakes a frown that makes you laugh again. You shake your head, making a 'tsk' noise at him.
"You're a menace, Buck," you joke.
He only shrugs his shoulders with a lopsided grin, then he pulls you into a hug. "Somebody has to get on your nerves. It keeps you distracted and on your feet," he teases.
"Thank you for being here for me."
Your body relaxes in his arms. You wrap your arms around his upper waist to return the sentiment. You take a deep breath and then pull away from the hug.
"How are you feeling, by the way?"
"It's almost like it never happened," you smirk.
"That's a lie, and you know it."
You're about to speak again, but close your mouth as soon as it opens. The nausea pools in your stomach again, forcing a huff out of you.
"I think I'm gonna be sick again."
"You're still feeling that bad over it?"
"No, I genuinely think I'm gonna throw up again, Buck," you say hurriedly, pushing by him to get back to the bathroom. "Put those cookies in a bag, Barnes! They're all yours!"
He chuckles and holds his thumb up in the air, even though you can't see it. "And you get yourself to the doctor, l/n."
Tumblr media
And going to the doctor is exactly what you chose to do.
Well, almost.
You instead chose to go to the lab with Tony and Bruce, and you only decided to go after about the fourth wave of nausea that came around five hours after the first. Which is how you ended up in the lab with grippy socks on and a cold Sprite in hand as you await blood and urine test results.
"So, how are you holding up, kid?" Tony asks, his eyes glued to his computer.
"Been better, had better days."
He looks away from his computer for a moment, making eye contact with you. "I could just kill him for hurting you, and I hope you know that," he states, his voice carrying nothing but genuine honesty.
"Aw, Tony, you're just like the dad I never dreamed of having—violently overprotective and overdramatic."
Bruce chuckles, but Tony just rolls his eyes, focusing back on his computer.
"That's what I get for trying to be nice to you," Tony scoffs, trying his best to hide the smile that wants to creep onto his face.
"I'm going to take a walk, Tony. I'll be back in a few minutes," Bruce announces as he rises from his chair. "If the computer beeps, it's her results coming back."
"Got it," Tony responds plainly, entirely too distracted by something on his screen.
The computer beeps only a few minutes after Bruce walks out, indicating an update to your information. Tony swivels his chair over to the big screen and pulls up your test results. He studies them carefully, not saying a word.
"So...what's wrong with me?"
He's still silent when he turns to face you. At first, he looks shocked, but then his brows furrow and his eyes narrow ever so slightly. If you hadn't known him for as long as you have, you'd think he was judging you based on his facial expression, but you knew he wasn't. He looked conflicted and confused, almost hesitant.
"What is it, Tone? You're freaking me out here. Is it the flu? A stomach bug? Food poisoning?"
"How about a baby?"
Your jaw drops, literally. The words pool in your mind, and your brain starts feeling like it's going to explode from all the different emotions and thoughts. You start to feel sick to your stomach again but manage to push the feeling down.
"I..." you start, unable to find the words to finish.
"I'm sorry, y/n. I won't tell anyone, okay? Not even Bruce. We need to set you up with a doctor. I have an amazing one I can call to come here and-"
"I appreciate that, Tony, but I need time to think first. We'll, uhm, talk tomorrow if that's okay."
"Of course," he empathizes, a sympathetic smile tugging at his lips. "Come here, kid."
You shuffle your way into his open arms, not having the energy to return the hug. He pulls away after a few seconds and allows you to step back.
"I think I'm gonna go...or something... I don't know," you mumble, making your way towards the door.
"Hey, y/n?"
"Yeah?"
"If this is something you want, don't let him ruin it for you."
Tumblr media
As soon as you leave the lab, it's like you're on autopilot.
Your feet took you to the downstairs office, then outside, and then to your car. When you get into your car, you tell yourself you're going to the store to grab some more ice cream. But your heart has other ideas; ideas such as Steve.
So, you drive yourself all the way to Steve's apartment, just wanting to be comforted by the familiarity for a moment. Then, somehow, you end up outside the front door of what used to be your shared space.
Your soft knock pulls Steve from the closest to sleep he's been in weeks. He curses under his breath, loathing whoever is at the door for ruining his chance at a few minutes to hours of peace.
However, that hate replaces itself with regret and adoration as soon as he opens the door to reveal your slouched-over form. Steve recognizes that look on your face, along with your body language, and it's evident that something is wrong.
As if you showing up at his door isn't surprising enough, you look up at him before letting yourself fall into his arms. He stands in shock as you lay your head on his warm and familiarly sculpted chest. Then sobs wrack through you, shaking your whole body, and that's all it takes for him to give into instinct and wrap his arms around you. The heat of his body and the feeling of his embrace provide a warming comfort as you cry into his shirt, only coaxing you further to let it all go.
One of his hands rubs your back gently while he holds you. "Y/n? What's wrong, honey? Talk to me," he coos.
You feel a tightness in your chest, a feeling that you can't put into words right now even if you tried your hardest to. In fact, all you can do is cry more as you hold tightly onto the sides of his shirt. You practically crumble into his chest, melting in his arms, and Steve understands. That's what made you fall for him in the first place, honestly - he always understands.
So, with no more words spoken, he holds you in the same doorway you walked out of only a couple of weeks ago. He holds you in that doorway until your tears slow and your breathing returns to normal. At some point, his thick fingers begin combing through your hair soothingly, the same way they used to every night at bedtime.
"I don't know what your stance on kids before marriage and after a breakup is, but you should figure it out soon," you mutter into his chest.
His body freezes, and his mind scrambles to catch up with your words. He looks down at your head, his eyebrows furrowing as he tries to make sense of the situation.
Are you truly saying what he thinks you are? You couldn't be...
"I'm pregnant, Steve."

You are sitting in the Quinjet, observing everyone who is injured in different ways. Natasha has been stabbed in her right thigh, Clint’s left ankle has been twisted, and Bruce, although not injured, appears exhausted due to a significant code green call, during which Nat almost lost him trying to retrieve him. Thor has a few scratches on his face. Everyone’s faces show bruising in different areas, and their bodies are still aching. But you, you have been injured the most. Your right wrist is broken, and you have been shot in your left leg, though the bullet wasn’t deep and didn't cause major damage; otherwise, you probably would have passed out by now. You still have trouble breathing, and your voice is sore because one of the HYDRA agents almost choked you to death. Your face is bruised, you can only open your right eye halfway, and your lips are swollen. The numbness has made it so you can barely feel any pain. When everyone saw you upon returning to the jet, they were extremely worried. You didn’t possess inhuman powers and weren't a super soldier, but you used to be a well-trained assassin and spy in the Red Room, closely partnered with Natasha Romanoff before joining S.H.I.E.L.D. So, it was surprising for the team to see you so battered, though they understood the mission was challenging.
Everyone needed a break upon returning to the tower. Initially, everyone thought it was a straightforward mission: infiltrate a high-security HYDRA base, get two flash drives containing vital and dangerous information, and exit. What no one knew was that it was a trap, with far more agents present than expected. Eventually, you managed to escape, but only securing one of the flash drives.
As everyone settled back in the jet, Bruce finished removing the bullet from your leg and bandaging Nat’s thigh. Thor bragged to Tony about his usual lack of injuries on missions, joking that he could have taken down all the HYDRA agents that day if he hadn’t been 'unlucky', which elicited laughter from Tony. Clint checked on Nat while she recounted a memory from Budapest. Meanwhile, you contemplated going home for a long shower until you noticed Steve, whose eyes were fixed on you with intensity. Confused, you assumed he was lost in thought, but you were wrong.
“How could you be so reckless?!" Steve's voice boomed through the jet as he stood up from his seat, his gaze piercing into yours. Everyone stopped what they were doing, surprised by his uncharacteristically loud tone, given his usually calm demeanor, even when upset. You looked at him, uncertain of what to say. You understood why he was angry; you had disobeyed an order. However, if not for your 'disobedience,' you wouldn't have acquired half the information you have now. To you, this seemed like Steve Rogers throwing a typical Captain America tantrum.
“Well, are you going to answer, or are you too stupid to respond to a simple question?" he growled, advancing toward your seat.
“I wasn't being-" you began to mutter, only to be interrupted by Steve.
“Speak up," he demanded, his voice cutting you off. You met his gaze, puzzled by his demeanor.
“I wasn't being reckless; I was being thoughtful. The-" you tried to explain, but Steve interrupted again.
"Thoughtful?! You call that thoughtful?! Really, Y/n? It's clear you don't understand the difference between stupidity and thoughtfulness.” he retorted.
“Will you stop interrupting me?" you interjected, your voice growing louder as you rose from your seat. You locked eyes with Steve, standing almost chest to chest in front of each other.
“I wouldn't have interrupted you if I knew any useful words were going to come out of your mouth," he countered, finally yelling, causing everyone but you to flinch.
“You have no right to yell at me like this, Steve.” you asserted, standing up for yourself.
"I have EVERY right to yell at you, you-" he began, but you cut him off this time.
"Why are you making it seem like I committed a crime? Yes, I agree it was wrong for me to enter that room alone, but I retrieved the flash drive we needed, didn't I?" you challenged.
“That is not the point right now. The point is, I'm your captain, and I gave a strict, direct order not to enter that room, and you disobeyed me.” he stated firmly.
That was all true. When you disobeyed his order, you knew he would be angry, but not to this extent.
You sprinted down the hallway, incapacitating every HYDRA agent in your path. You tried not to use your gun too often, knowing there would likely be guards in the room.
"Steve, I found the room," you said through your earpiece. You subdued the agent guarding the room where the flash drives were, and as the door swung open, more than twenty HYDRA agents stood before you, blocking your view of the drives on the computer table.
“Y/n, what did you just say? Get out of there now! Do you even know how many agents are in there?" Steve's urgent voice echoed in your ear.
“I do now," you replied, still facing the agents, who were also eyeing you cautiously.
"Y/n, this is an order. Get. Out. Of. There. Now.” Steve commanded, his tone almost a shout.
“Sorry, Steve, but people's lives depend on this.” you declared, charging toward the agents, disregarding Steve's pleas for you to retreat.
“Steve, I really don't understand what the big deal is. I got one of the drives, and yes, I went alone, but at least I obtained something that will help us.” you reasoned, taking a seat.
“Alright, y/n, I'm definitely sure now that you are deaf. You entered a room with so many HYDRA agents-" he began, only to be cut off by you.
“They were like 10 and they were really weak-" you defended.
“They were 27 trained assassins!” he corrected, making you widen your eyes.
"And do I need to remind you that your leg has been shot, and you can barely keep your eyes open, not to mention the rest of your injuries." he added mockingly.
“Okay, Steve, I get it, and I'm sorry for being reckless. Can we let this go now?" you pleaded, sitting down.
“Let this go?!" he started laughing, though his laugh lacked any humor. Everyone looked at Steve, unable to believe his behavior. They never expected him to speak to you this way, especially in front of the whole team.
You and Steve had been friends since meeting during the Battle of New York. You had a lot in common and quickly connected. A few months later, at one of Tony's parties, he kissed you, and the following day, he asked you out. It had been six months since then, and Steve treated you like a princess. He called you his savior because you helped him adjust to life after being thawed from the ice. He adored you. You had a few minor disagreements, but they were hardly fights, more like disagreements. You could never stay mad at each other, and now you couldn't believe the man who was laughing at you and humiliating you was the same person.
"Steve, I think that's enough," Nat finally intervened, her voice calm yet firm.
"Is it really? I think baby y/n hasn't learned her lesson yet.” Steve retorted sarcastically.
“Fuck you, Steve. You can't speak to me like that. I'm not a kid. If it wasn't for me, we wouldn't even have that one drive, and god knows how many people could have died. But you can't even realize that because I disobeyed ‘Captain America's orders,' and no one is allowed to disobey America's 'hero.' The only kid between us is you!” you shot back, your voice rising, though not as loud as Steve's had been.
“I'm a kid, y/n? Really? And what are you, a hero? Do you expect me to thank you now? Do you expect all of us to be on our knees thanking you?!" Steve challenged.
“That is not what I said!" you finally snapped.
The tension in the room escalated, and the team grew more uncomfortable by the second.
Steve smirked at your angered state.
“What's the matter, y/n? You seem a little bit defensive. I thought you liked being a hero. You know, because of the guilt, since you started killing and torturing people at the age of 8.”he said, still wearing the hurtful smirk on his face.
The whole team gasped, especially Natasha, whose story paralleled yours. You looked at Steve, unable to believe what he had just said.
“You seem shocked, Agent y/l/n. Oh, and Natasha, don't take this the wrong way. We all make mistakes in our life, but at least after we realize our mistakes, we try to make them up as soon as we can and not run away like a coward.” Steve continued, ignoring your reaction. You and Natasha widened your eyes, understanding what Steve was referring to."Steve..." Nat began, but Steve cut her off.
“I'm not done yet. Some of y'all look confused, well, let me explain it for you," Steve said, addressing the rest of the team.
"Steve, don't." you murmured, your voice weak now. You weren't even sure if anyone heard you, and you were right. No one heard you, but Steve who chose to ignore you.
“Our dear y/n y/l/n was a well-trained assassin back in the years with Natasha Romanoff in a place called the Red Room, which I'm sure you've heard about. Before even Natasha was out of there, Agent y/l/n found a way to leave the Red Room, a way to save every girl, from children to adults, who were mind-controlled into killing, and even worse. But do you know what she did instead?" he turned around the room, looking at everyone as if it was a show. No one said anything; they just kept looking between you and Steve. It was getting harder for you to focus on your breathing.
“Well, in case you haven't guessed yet, she just left everyone who could've been saved, even her best friend who is sitting right here with us.” he said, pointing at Nat.
“And even though she could've killed Dreykov, who was the leader by the way, with her genius plan, she didn't because she was a coward.” he said, emphasizing the word coward.
You've never felt so small and betrayed. You couldn’t believe he was using your awful past against you. When you confided in him, he comforted you, assuring you it wasn't your fault. That you’ve been through a lot and you took the only chance you had to save yourself. And now… now he was a different person.
“Cap that’s enough, it’s not our business what she did in the past. We all did something in some point that we aren’t proud of. She made up for that mistake many times now, since the battle of New York until today’s mission. I’m sure she still feels guilty and you’re just making it worse.” Tony looked at your trembling sight, standing up from his seat and walked towards Steve. The rest of the team nodding along, glad that Tony stood up for you because they were frozen themselves.
“Oh yeah Tony, you’re right I’m sure she feels guilty, don’t you y/l/n?” He looked at you as if you were a kid
Everything about him was hurting you right now. His voice tone that humiliated you in every way, his eyes that sent daggers to your way, his body that was intimidatingly towering yours, his smile which always made you happy and now it was only mocking you. Your throat is dry, your eyes are wet and you feel like your heart is going to come out of your chest in any second. You were hurt and unwell, and everyone could see that, everyone but Steve.
“Agent y/I/n do you feel guilty about your past?" He repeated his sarcastic question.
"I wouldn't worry about that too much since you have a good way to cope with your guilt right?" He continued.
You looked up at him frighteningly, understanding where he was going.
“Steve don't you dare." you whispered, finally being able to say something.
Everyone was confused since they had no idea what you both were talking about.
“you seem scared agent." Steve smirked at you sending shivers down your spine. It hurts so much more that he wasn't even using your name anymore, he felt like a stranger to you.
“SHUT UP!" you had never yelled so loud in your life, the whole jet shook. Everyone flinched but Steve. It seemed like he was waiting for this.
“Come on y/n are you that afraid of everyone knowing how you used to deal with your problems, or do you still do it?"
Everyone was quite once again, something in them wanted to know what Steve was talking about but they also didn't because of the way you reacted.
You looked at him not saying anything but your eyes were begging him to stop. You've never been in such a vulnerable position, especially considering everything you’ve been through.
“oh don't tell me you're gonna cut your wrists open again because you feel guilty you didn't get the second driver."
Everyone froze and widened their eyes, silence filling the jet. No one knew that you used to harm yourself until you started dating Steve, he was the first person to ever know. You felt so comfortable around him that you didn't want to have any untold secrets.
You thought about what if you guys break up but you convinced yourself that even if you guys separate your ways from each other at some point, you're definitely going to stay friends and he's never going to tell your secret to anyone because you believed he was a good man. You trusted him more than yourself and now he proved you all wrong.
You didn't cut anymore, because you found a way to save people. If it wasn't for Nick Fury, making you join the team you'd be long gone by now. But you didn't have a reason anymore, you were happy you had a new family and a new job, everything was perfect for you. Now you felt alone all over again and you didn't even blame Steve, you blamed yourself. You failed.
You started trembling more and started to see black spots. The team walked towards you to see if you were okay. Thor pushed Steve away, "Stay away from her," he warned, before walking to you. You heard Tony and Natasha yelling at Steve, Clint trying to calm them down but looking angry himself, Bruce and Thor asking you if you were alright, but you couldn’t hear anything anymore. It was so loud, but you only heard annoying mumbles. You let out a sob before passing out in the strong arms of the god, the last thing you saw being Steve's worried eyes…

Tumblr media
You stretch and yawn as you make your way to the kitchen. You were hoping to get a few more hours of sleep than you did, but you’ll take what you can get.
“Good morning,” Steve greets you without looking up. He is seated at the counter, eating a muffin as he reads the morning paper.
“Mhm,” is your only response as you walk over to the cabinet and grab a mug. It’s too early for you to converse.
You go through the motions of making your morning coffee when you feel someone hug you from behind.
“Hey there, sleepyhead,” Tony speaks directly into your ear and you shrug him off. He steps back with a chuckle.
“It’s too early for this shit,” you groan, attempting to grab the sugar, but someone else gets to it before you can.
“I don’t think you need this, dove. You’re already sweet enough,” you look over to see Loki holding the container in his left hand, grinning smugly at you. You roll your eyes and try to grab it, but he is much taller than you. He raises his arm, the sugar now just out of reach.
“Seriously? Loki, please,” you whine, leaning against him. “It’s too early,” you repeat your previous statement, this time mumbling it into Loki’s chest. He laughs, low and hearty, enveloping you in a gentle hug.
You stay like this for a moment, feeling him relax into your touch. When you’re sure his guard is down, you lunge for the sugar. You take it from his hand and back away before he can trap you again.
“You tricked me,” he says, feigning offense, but his soft smile betrays him. You stick your tongue out in response, focusing your attention back on the cup of coffee you’ve been trying to make.
After a few minutes, you finally have your coffee. Letting out a sigh of relief, you walk into the living room and sit in one of the chairs, looking forward to having a relaxing moment. But living with the Avenger’s means there is never a dull moment.
Not even ten seconds later, there is a loud crash in the kitchen, as Natasha comes barreling in.
“What the hell, Tony?” she yells.
You sip at your coffee, pretending not to notice the commotion.
“And that’s my cue to leave,” Tony says, presumably attempting to exit the room. Natasha is hot on his heels though, refusing to let him escape unpunished. You remind yourself not to get on her bad side.
“Typical,” Bruce exhales, taking a seat next to you. You glance over and shrug your shoulders, sighing deeply.
“Yup,” you reply, continuing to drink your coffee and choosing to ignore the chaos happening in the next room.
For the first few moments, you do a pretty good job. You’re able to effortlessly block out the noise as you enjoy your hard earned beverage. That is, until Natasha throws Tony into the living room.
He crashes directly into you, sending you and your coffee flying. You hit the ground hard, your favorite mug shattering as the scalding liquid spreads across the floor and seeps into your top, staining the white fabric.
Everyone freezes, holding their collective breath as they stare at you with wide eyes. You are the most powerful Avenger, and arguably, the most powerful being the world has ever seen. No one wants to face your wrath.
You close your eyes and inhale sharply through your nose, rising from where you lay on the floor.
You turn your attention to Tony, glaring at him with the fury of a thousand suns. He immediately tries to reason with you.
“Hey, we were just messing around -” you step on his chest, effectively cutting him off.
“Stay. Put.” he shuts his mouth and nods his head, eyes wide with fright. You reach next to him and pick up the broken pieces of your mug.
All eyes are on you as you walk back to the kitchen, placing the pieces on the counter. The air is tense and deadly quiet.
You squeeze your eyes shut, fighting the urge to cry. You’re so tired. You just wanted to have a relaxing morning.
Loki says your name, but you ignore it and push past him, storming off to your room. As soon as you enter the threshold, you slam the door shut and flop onto your bed, unable to stop the tears.
It’s a stupid thing to cry over, you know, but this has been building for a while now. You’ve been so busy taking care of everyone else and making sure that they’re okay, that you’ve ended up neglecting your own needs. Between the stress of missions and trying to carry the burdens of all your teammates, you’ve burnt yourself out. So really, it’s not even about the mug at all.
There is a soft knock at your door. You clear your throat and swallow hard.
“Go away,” you pray that whoever it is doesn’t pick up on the fact that you’ve been crying.
To your dismay, your bedroom door begins to open. You scramble to compose yourself, not wanting anyone to see you like this. Weak. Vulnerable.
“What do you want?” you spit, hoping your venomous tone will scare them away. It doesn’t.
Bruce peeks his head in, smiling sheepishly, before opening the door to reveal three of your teammates standing awkwardly in the hall.
Steve nudges Tony, who clumsily steps forward, looking unsure of himself. If you weren’t in such a foul mood, you might laugh. The great and confident Tony Stark, now twiddling his thumbs and refusing to make eye contact.
You cross your arms over your chest, trying your best to look annoyed.
“I’m sorry,” Tony says, still refusing to look at you. “I know that was your favorite mug and I’m really sorry,”
You scoff and roll your eyes.
“It’s not about the fucking mug,”
Everyone looks at you and suddenly, you want the ground to swallow you whole. When you realize they’re all waiting for you to elaborate, you sigh and turn your back to them.
“It’s just -” you suck in a breath and shake your head. “I’m so tired. Of the fighting and the worry and the -” you cut yourself off, taking a moment to compose yourself.
“I can’t keep carrying everyone’s burdens,” you say after a long while, turning to face them again. Everyone is silent for a moment, eyes wide in shock, before Natasha finally speaks.
“I - we had no idea,” she says, taking a step toward you. She reaches out, searching your eyes for permission. When you show no signs of objection, she surprises everyone by enveloping you in a tight hug.
You slowly wrap your arms around her, letting yourself relax into her touch. You feel more arms surrounding you, and realize that everyone is holding each other in a big group hug. Before you have a chance to stop it, you start to cry, releasing all your sorrow and grief.
You stay like that for a while, your teammates holding you as you cry and whispering soothing words. Eventually, you pull away from one another. You look at everyone in the room and smile.
“Thank you,” you say, wiping a few stray tears from your face.
“Any time,” they reply in unison.

Guardian Angel
Chapter 4: Fly Me to the Moon
Tumblr media
Summary: In your worst moment, Wanda is there for you.
Warnings: Trigger Warning—car accident, blood, injuries, hospital, surgery.
Word Count: 3k
A/N: This was an intense chapter. 😭 Shoutout to @arlana-likes-to-write for helping me with some dialogue at the end.
Guardian Angel Masterlist
On this gloomy Friday morning, you came to the decision that if you had a superpower, it would be the ability to fly. You could effortlessly soar above the annoying traffic and get to work on time. However, the sad reality is that you are no superhero. You can barely work the defroster in your car.
This morning, you woke up to the realization that your alarm had failed to go off. You had overslept and were now rushing to get ready for work. You had to forego your usual morning routine of sipping on coffee and listening to relaxing music, which usually helped you start your day on a positive note. Instead, you took a hurried shower and got dressed as quickly as you could. You had to get out of the door as soon as possible to avoid getting stuck in the morning traffic. The rain outside only added to your sense of urgency. As you drove across town, you couldn't help but worry about getting to work on time. The Candy Bar had recently become increasingly busy, especially with the start of the holiday season. You were hesitant to leave Harper to handle the rush all by herself.
Rain lashed against your windshield. The windshield wipers whipped back and forth over the window of your black Honda Acura, attempting to clear away the large droplets clinging to the glass. Wary of the number of cars around, you gripped the steering wheel a bit tighter. As you approached the intersection of Second Avenue and Crosby Street, your traffic light turned green. You began to cross the threshold of the intersection when suddenly, a green car to your right rushed through the intersection at full speed, presumably trying to beat the red light. It happened so fast that you barely saw it coming out of the corner of your eye. You quickly slammed on the brakes and tried to turn the car to avoid a direct collision. The sound of your car's screeching brakes and tires skidding on the wet pavement shattered the silence of the street. In that split second, images of your life flashed across your mind like a slideshow. You saw yourself as a child, your high school graduation, your first day of college, and the day you opened The Candy Bar. All these moments seemed to flash before your eyes as you struggled to regain control of your car. But it was too late. Your car was struck with a tremendous force, causing it to flip once, then twice before landing upside down in the middle of the street. The last thing you remembered before the airbag deployed was the sound of shattering glass and the distant sound of cars piling up. Everything went black after that.
*^~^*
Natasha was undeterred by bad weather. She ran like clockwork every morning, converting her emotional pain into miles covered. She had a warrior spirit that never quit and knew that training was the key to success. Even off the clock, her training stayed with her, making her more alert, confident, and always on the lookout for vulnerabilities.
Maria was better at compartmentalization. Outside of work, a run was a run. That’s why when they both awoke this morning to the relaxing sound of rain, she was keen to skip the run and cuddle in bed with Nat just a bit longer. Unfortunately, she did not win that argument. Which is how she found herself running down the street next to her better half in the rain; hoodie pulled tight over her head. The soundtrack of their morning was the splish splash of their running shoes as they pounded through the puddles that had formed along their usual route.
"Let's go one more block, and then we'll head back," Natasha shouted over the sound of the rain.
"Thank God," Maria whispered.
“What was that, malyshka?”
"Sure thing, sweetheart!" Maria replied, giving a thumbs up.
In the midst of a peaceful moment, a sudden, piercing screech shattered the tranquility. The two women turned their attention to the source of the noise and were met with the terrifying sight of a black car hydroplaning wildly out of control through the intersection nearby. Their breaths caught in their throats as they watched in horror as a green car, careening recklessly from the opposite direction, slammed into the driver's side door of the spinning vehicle. The black car was sent flying, rolling twice before coming to a rest upside down in the center of the street. The sickening sound of metal bending and glass shattering echoed eerily through the rain-slicked air as multiple cars piled up behind it, as if they had all hit an invisible brick wall.
"Call it in!" yelled Maria.
*^~^*
After dropping her boys off at school, Wanda pulled into her driveway when a call came through on her Bluetooth. She quickly answered the call from FRIDAY's interface, displaying the compound's number.
“Ms. Maximoff, there has been a multi-vehicle accident approximately 2.3 miles from your current location. There are possible fatalities and multiple injuries. The team is on the way and requires your assistance.”
“On my way.”
As soon as Wanda landed on the scene, she could see chaos all around her. Bruce, who had already arrived, was frantically setting up triage to tend to the injured while Maria was busy establishing a secure perimeter to keep the bystanders at a safe distance. The sound of distant sirens could be heard in the background, growing louder with each passing moment, as emergency services rushed to the scene. Onlookers had gathered, their faces etched with worry and fear, as they watched the unfolding events with a mix of shock and disbelief.
“Where do you need me?”
That car took the worst of it,” Natasha interjected, pointing to the overturned black car in the intersection. “See if you can help Stark with the driver!”
Wanda sprinted to the scene and arrived at the car just as Tony touched down, quickly scanning for a heat signature.
“One occupant. Female, early 30s, multiple injuries, vital signs thready,” FRIDAY read.
Wanda crouched down to ground level and tried to peer through the broken window. Droplets of water ran down her skin making it difficult to see. Her breath left her body as she finally took in the sight in front of her. You were still strapped into the driver's seat, the airbag deflated in front of you like an old balloon. Blood was trickling slowly down the side of your bruised and battered face. Wanda stood up and frantically tried to pull open the upside-down door, but the frame was bent badly out of alignment.
"Whoa, Red! What are you doing? There's a safer way," Tony shouted.
“I know her!”
A repulsor ray from Iron Man’s hand quickly cut through the hinge of the car door. Wanda reached inside and unbuckled you from the seat. A trail of blood followed you across the pavement as she carefully slid your unconscious body from the car.
“Don’t do this to me, y/n. I can still feel you.”
Sam rushed over and applied pressure to your stomach wound, his military training kicking in.
“I got this Wanda. Cap and Bucky need your help.”
The redhead looked over to see two super soldiers working to pry twisted metal apart in order to free other drivers from their cars. She then glanced back down at you, her breathing uneven as she hesitated, not wanting to leave your side.
"Friday, please contact the nearest Level One Trauma Center and inform them of the situation," Tony instructed.
“Go!” Sam exclaimed.
Wanda's powers sprang into action, swiftly clearing the debris from the center of the pile-up and creating a path for Steve and Bucky to reach the other victims. The relentless rain showed no signs of letting up, and it was causing water to collect around the wreckage. After what felt like an eternity, Wanda finally made her way back to you, deftly navigating through the maze of broken and battered cars. As she approached, she could see that you were still lying motionless on the ground, a few feet from your vehicle. Meanwhile, Sam and Yelena were working frantically to save you. Sam was applying pressure to your abdominal wound, while Yelena was administering CPR. However, they were so focused on keeping you alive that they failed to notice the fuel leaking from your gas tank. Wanda, on the other hand, could see the puddle forming near them on the ground, and she knew that they needed to move quickly to avoid a potential disaster.
“Sam, Yelena!” she screamed.
Your car ignited in a flash of fire just as Wanda reached you again. The bright flash hit her eyes just before the force of the explosion knocked the three of them back. She acted purely on instinct, containing the explosion in a sphere of glowing red energy. Dropping to the ground in exhaustion as the blast was diffused.
"Well done," Steve praised as he helped Wanda to her feet.
"Where are the first responders, Hill?" asked Bruce.
“The rain and the pile-up are making it difficult to get through. I’m working on it.”
“She can’t wait. We need to get her out of here now,” Sam cautioned, removing his undershirt and packing your wound.
“I’ve got a pulse,” Yelena announced.
"St. Peter’s is the closest hospital," Kate said.
“I’ll clear a path,” Clint offered.
"No," Tony interrupted. "Take her to the compound. Get her to the MedBay. I'll notify Helen." He locked eyes with Wanda.
She looked into Tony's eyes, searching for insincerity, but found none.
“FRIDAY, run an X-ray and CT scan to assess spinal stability,” he ordered.
“The spine is stable, boss,” FRIDAY replied.
“Take her,” Tony ordered.
Wanda picked you up tenderly and vanished into the weeping grey sky. If she hastened, she could reach the compound within five minutes. Wanda prayed silently that you would hold on for that long, while tears streamed down her cheeks.
A sharp intake of breath brought you around as searing pain surged through your broken body. A mixture of blood and water hit your tastebuds. Your vision was blurry and your hair was falling wetly in front of your eyes, but you could just make out Wanda’s face staring down at you. Her eyes began to glow red, and you felt the same sense of calm wash over you as the day you met her.
“Stay with me, y/n. We’re almost there.”
Your eyes grew heavy as you succumbed to unconsciousness once more.
*^~^*
“Concussion, ruptured spleen, two cracked ribs, shattered collarbone, collapsed lung, fractured ankle.”
As Wanda stood there, her hands instinctively flew to her mouth, trying to suppress the gasp that threatened to escape her lips. The tears in her eyes were a clear indication of the emotions that were bubbling inside her. She couldn't bring herself to accept what she was hearing, but as Dr. Cho went on reciting the list of injuries you sustained, the harsh reality of the situation hit her like a ton of bricks.
“She’s in surgery right now. We can try to regenerate the damaged tissue with the cradle once she is stable. The nano-molecular functionality is instantaneous, but with the severity and number of injuries, it’s going to take some time. Y/N will have a long road to recovery ahead of her.”
Wanda simply nodded her head, too afraid to say anything that might cause her to break down.
“Do you know if she has any family we should notify?”
“No, I don’t. I’m sorry,” barely above a whisper.
“It’s going to be a long day. You look exhausted, why don’t you try and get some rest? I’ll have FRIDAY notify you when there is an update.”
“No, no, I’ll stay. I just need to call Darcy to see if she can pick up the boys from school, but I’ll stay. I want to be here when she wakes up,” Wanda said somberly.
Helen placed a comforting hand on Wanda’s shoulder before turning and walking back into the Operating Room. The redhead sat down on the sofa in the corner of the Med Bay, unable to process everything that had happened in the last hour. Her mind replays the image of your broken figure lying upside down and motionless in your car. She glanced down at the drops of your blood staining her shirt, the shock prevented her from feeling anything.
The sound of the rain outside continued to fill the room, as Wanda sat in the compound waiting room. Nurses and doctors walked in and out, their faces unfamiliar to her. She sat there, anxiously watching the clock, as one hour turned into two, and then three. Suddenly, a text message from Darcy lit up her phone, offering to help with the boys for as long as she needed. Wanda felt grateful for the offer, and quickly sent a reply thanking her. She took off her coat and balled it up to create a makeshift pillow. She curled up on one end of the sofa and let her gaze linger on the door of the operating room. The redhead felt her eyelids grow heavy, and soon she fell asleep within minutes, her body relaxed and at ease.
A gentle nudge on her shoulder woke Wanda after half an hour. She looked up to see Sam and Yelena standing nearby.
“Mhmm, what are you guys doing here?” She murmured.
“We wanted to see how she was doing,” Sam said.
“Y/N”
“Y/N,” Sam repeated.
“How is she?” Yelena asked, taking a seat beside her.
I don't know," she said as she dragged her hands down her tired face. "I spoke to Helen when they first brought her into the OR, but I haven't heard anything since. She's in pretty bad shape," tears threatening to fall again. "What happened after I left the scene? Were there any casualties?
“No, thankfully.” Sam shared. There were a few other serious injuries; broken back, internal bleeding, severe whiplash. The first responders were able to get through a couple of minutes after you left. Hill wants to have a meeting with law enforcement to discuss how we can work together to improve response times.”
Wanda struggled to speak, her words catching in her throat. "Thank you for what you both did for her," she finally managed to say.
Sam placed his hand on Wanda's thigh and said, "I'll be back with a change of clothes for you."
"Can I ask how you know y/n?" Yelena asked softly once they were alone.
“… She was… is the woman I helped in the café, and I bought the candy for Billy and Tommy’s birthday from her sweet shop.”
“Does she know you have feelings for her?”
“What are you talking about?”
"Oh, little witch. Don’t tell me you are that deep in denial?" she says, her voice laced with a mix of disbelief and concern. "We risk our lives every day to help people survive the worst moment of their lives. We are trained to do so with composure and presence of mind because otherwise, we risk letting our emotions affect our actions in the field," she continues. “You can't argue with that - it's the truth. I’ve fought alongside you for almost three years, and in all that time I’ve never seen you react the way you did today. You care for her," she says, her tone softening.
Wanda averted her gaze from Yelena, fixing it instead on an imaginary point on the dull white wall right in front of her.
“I barely know her,” Wanda sighed. “She doesn’t know me at all. Honestly, I’m not sure she should,” a single tear rolling down her cheek that she quickly wiped away.
“That is what you think, not what she thinks. Let her in. Sooner rather than later,” placing a loving hand on her arm.
"Wanda?" Helen interjected softly as she walked out of the operating room.
The redhead stood up anxiously. “Y/N is out of surgery and stable. It was touch and go at times, but she pulled through. She’s still under, but you can go sit with her if you’d like. Room 4”
“Thank you, Helen. Thank you,” hugging Helen before looking back at Yelena.
“Go on, I’ll wait here.”
*^~^*
Wanda took a deep breath before opening the door to your room. The sight that greeted her was heartbreaking. Your face had bruises, and your hair was unkempt. You had a nasal cannula on your face, and there were several butterfly stitches. Your left arm was in a sling, and your right leg was in a cast below the knee, propped up gently on a pillow.
Despite your physical appearance, you looked peaceful. If it weren't for the steady beep of the heart rate monitor, she might've thought you were only sleeping. The redhead took a seat at your bedside, unable to take her eyes off you. Wanda could hardly believe she was sitting here. Three weeks ago, she didn't even know you existed. Now she was sitting in your dreary grey hospital room, praying you would wake up soon.
A young nurse walked into the room with a tablet in her hand. She recorded your vital signs and acknowledged Wanda's presence with a nod and a sympathetic smile. After leaving the room, Wanda was left alone with her anxious thoughts. She replayed your two brief encounters in her head and began to worry about your recovery. She couldn't recall you mentioning any family or significant other, which made her concerned about what your recovery would look like if it was true that you were all alone.
As you slowly started to stir, a barely audible groan broke Wanda from her trance. Hearing the sound, her head snapped in your direction. You felt heavy and broken all over your body, and when you tried to shift slightly, everything hurt. Gradually, the blinding light subsided, and you began to take in your surroundings, but you had no idea where you were or how you got there. Panic started to set in before a soft, sweet voice met your ears.
“Y/N, hey, hey… it’s okay. You’re okay. I’m right here.” grasping your hand.
You turned your head and saw Wanda's beautiful green eyes.
“Wanda?” Tears form in your eyes. “What happened? Where am I? What are you—?” Your raspy voice cracked and set you into a coughing fit. Wanda reached across your body and grabbed a cup of water sitting on the bedside table. Helping you to sit up slowly, she held the cup to your lips as you took small sips. She rubbed gentle circles on your back as the coughing subsided and your lungs relaxed.
“Easy, easy.. that’s it,” helping you lay back down. “You were in a car accident, y/n, but you’re going to be okay, I promise. You’re in the MedBay. It’s the hospital wing of the Avengers compound.” You stared at her for a few moments. Your brain was fuzzy, and you were having trouble understanding everything she was saying to you, “Avengers comp—what?” your voice hoarse and tired.
“I’ll get Dr. Cho,” reaching for your call button.
"No, no wait just wait," she did. She said you were in the Avengers compound but that means-no that's impossible. You couldn’t believe you hadn’t recognized her before. "You're an Avenger," you said slowly, her green eyes cast downwards to avoid looking at you. "Right?" You questioned when her silence wasn't a good enough answer. "That's the only way they would allow me in here."
"I am," she finally spoke but her eyes remained trained on the ground. "But I didn't want you to find out." You were a little taken aback by her confession. The stories that surrounded the Avengers were nothing short of heroic.
"Why wouldn't you want me to find out?" You questioned, voice barely above a whisper. "Being an Avenger is amazing. You are a hero. You-" you trailed off as you watched the woman sink into herself. "Wanda, why didn't you want me to know?" Sighing, she bit her lip and looked up at you.
"Does the town of Westview, New Jersey mean anything to you?"

Steve Rogers Fic
I wrote this fic because Chris Evans was declared People's Magazine World's Sexiest Man and it's been a year. I can't believe I only got around to finishing it now.
Tumblr media
Y/N’s home could only really be called a villains lair.
It’s high cavernous walls; the gothic spires that towered over the lot; the human-sized gargoyles that lined the dark roof; and the dark exterior cut an imposing figure against the backdrop of the grey sky meeting the even greyer sea. It was perched high above a cliff, carved into the very stone of the mountain.
The frigid salty wind that bellowed from the sea had rain slapping against Steve’s suit, darkening it’s blue leather. He hated the miserable weather, the dark grey sky and the pelting rain reminded Steve of memories of the war that he would rather sooner forget.
But right now, he couldn’t care less.
His feet slapped against the gravel, taking him up to the foyer of Y/N’s home. The large oak doors of her home were slammed shut and Steve found his hands rapping against the wood. He could almost imagine the sound echoing around the cavernous house, up towards Y/N’s room.
Steve knew Y/N didn’t get many visitors and so his presence was an anomaly to her.
She had a sordid reputation after all, one that had her painted as an enemy of the Avengers.
But right now, Steve didn’t care about that.
In fact, all Steve could care about right now was Y/N.
“Y/N, open up!” He banged against the solid doors once again, his body a live wire of buzzing energy and adrenaline begging to be released.
He was met with silence.
The rain was beginning to pelt harder against his body, the wind howling in the distance.  The storm was a big one, the biggest of the year if the news was right. Worry and panic seized Steve the moment he heard, his heart thrumming loudly in his throat. Y/N didn’t live in the friendliest of environments and though he knew she would loathe Steve for caring about her, he couldn’t help it.
“Y/N!”
Still no response.
He could break down the door. She’d hate him for sure but she’d always hated him. At least this way, he knew she was okay.
“Y/N, I swear—“
“Rogers?”
Her voice had been swallowed by the wind and if it wasn’t for his exceptional hearing, Steve wouldn’t have heard her lovely voice.
The relief that seized him nearly had his knees buckling to the ground. He spun, meeting Y/N’s E/C eyes, wide with surprised and confusion. Despite the hard sleets of rain that continued to rain down, she was perfectly dry, not a strand of hair out of place. Her face was perfectly made up, her lips painted a beautiful red, rouge streaking her cheeks. She looked wonderful and alive.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Y/N didn’t sound as furious as she usually did, simply confused. As if seeing Steve standing in her front door had stunned her to silence.
Steve didn’t care. He reached for her, relieved to find her hard and solid beneath her hands and not some ghostly apparition.
“There’s a storm,” Steve panted, eyes locking to Y/N’s own E/C ones, “biggest of the year. I-I thought… I wanted to make sure you were okay.”
Her eyes fluttered in surprise. “You… you wanted to see if I was okay?”
Steve nodded, unabashed. He was glad to see that she was fine and there was no hiding the relief that had him straightening.
He knew he wasn’t suppose to care about her. She was the villain and he was a hero. He was suppose to hate her, capture her right now for whatever nefarious scheme she was no doubt plotting to take down the Avengers.
But he didn’t care about that right now.
He didn’t care about their roles and he certainly didn’t care about what his teammates would say or what other people would say. Right now, all he cared about was her.
Y/N seemed to hesitate before she pushed past him and opened her heavy front door as easily as if it was made of plastic.
A roaring fire was raging in the hearth of her living room, the smell of cookies baking in the oven like an invitation to Steve, begging him to enter through the threshold.
“Why don’t you come in?” Y/N said softly, waiting by the opened door. “Maybe wait for the storm to settle before you leave?”
Steve looked down at his sodden clothes, at the fat drops of water that dripped to the floor. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. I might ruin your furniture.”
Y/N stretched out her hand towards him, her fingers hovering above his face. A strange warm sensation enveloped Steve, like a blanket had suddenly been wrapped around his shoulders. Steve looked down, his clothes suddenly dried. His hair, that was once plastered on his forehead, was now dry and fluffy and not a drop of water splashed on his shoes. In fact, even the puddle that had steadily gathered around his feet had been wiped cleaned, lightening the once dark wood. Magic was strange but there was no denying its benefits.
“Come on in.” Y/N stepped aside, her face impassive.
Despite racing here upon learning of the raging storm, Steve hesitated now. He’d never been inside of Y/N’s home and though their relationship was more or less antagonistic, it felt strange to have her invite him to her sanctuary. He felt like an intruder, rifling through Y/N’s innermost secrets in the hope of gleaning information to use against her in their next confrontation.
Thunder rumbled loudly above their heads followed by a flash of lightning that briefly illuminated Y/N’s features. She was peering at him through her lashes, her lips pursed as if she herself was unsure she should let Steve in. He wondered if she’d turn him away now.
Instead, she further leaned into the door, opening the entrance even wider. “I don’t bite. Well, I don’t bite hard. So come on in before I magic you into a deep sleep and you can have Stark kiss you awake.”
The smell of cookies continued to waft through the opened door and that was enough to convince Steve to get in.
He felt warm almost immediately, the chill that had previously gripped him suddenly chased away by the magic in the atmosphere. The smell of melted butter further saturated his nose, the warm fire raging in the living room permanently removing the chill of the outside world.
“Shoes off,” Y/N said as she removed her own shoes, placing it neatly on the shoe rack by the door.
Steve followed suit, desperately trying to remove the feeling of awkwardness that seized him.
Y/N walked into her home, not bothering to wait for Steve to follow her.
Despite the imposing exterior of Y/N’s home, the interior told a different story. It was warm and inviting, the walls painted a rich green and covered with beautiful paintings. Red velvet furniture was scattered all about the space, the most notable being the large floor-to-ceiling bookshelves that covered the right side of the room. It was filled with books and different sculptures decorated the empty spaces. There was even a medieval suit of armor between the shelves. There was a staircase to the left, leading to what Steve could only assume was the bedrooms. A lush carpet was laid before him, covering the whole expanse of the room.
Steve followed Y/N, who’d walked through the a door next to the fireplace.
The smell of baking cookies intensified, causing Steve’s mouth to water. He’d always  had a bit of a sweet tooth and even now, in the presence of his enemy, he couldn’t deny the pang of cravings.
Y/N led them to a modern kitchen, one that was vastly different from the living room they’d just left. There was a kitchen island in middle with white leather seats lining the side and even a breakfast nook big enough for eight people towards the right. There was a TV on the farthest wall of the nook, turned off and quiet. The panels of the countertops were a gleaming marble, the walls painted a pretty light blue. There were two refrigerators, wide enough to fit at least two people inside and no doubt fully stocked with cooking ingredients and snacks. One of the counters was occupied by an espresso machine, as fully stocked as a busy cafe with equipment Steve didn’t know the name of scattered around the side. The stove was set on the other side, with eight burners set against shiny metal. There were two ovens below it, one of it lit and where no doubt the smell of baking cookies came from. There was a bookshelf to the side below the TV, filled with different cookbooks and some in languages Steve couldn’t understand. While the living room was warm and slightly dark, the kitchen was all light, the walls covered in windows that let in plenty of light even with the dark grey sky.
“I’m sorry for the mess. I wasn’t expecting guests,” Y/N said, the words coming out almost stiffly. An apron magically appeared around her waist and she got around to continuing whatever it was she was doing before Steve got here.
In truth, Steve wasn’t sure where the mess was. The kitchen was clean and pristine without even a speck of dust floating in the air. He wasn’t sure what to say so he stayed silent, his eyes roving around the space.
“Anything you prefer to drink?” Y/N said just as the oven dinged. She pulled open the door of the oven and with the use of her powers, telekinetically moved the hot tray of cookies towards the kitchen isle. “I make a mean cup of coffee. Or if you want some chocolate or tea, I can make those for you too.”
“Coffee sounds great,” Steve said with a slight smile, pushing aside the awkwardness. It was strange, he thought, that the only pieces of conversation Steve ever had with Y/N was when he’d captured her or when she was monologuing her villainous plans or when she was behind bars and was too tired to escape, choosing instead to make idle conversation with Steve.
“You can take a seat, you know,” Y/N gestured at one of the stool in the kitchen island and Steve watched in wonder as what seemed like invisible hands pulled the stool, giving him space to take a seat.
Steve didn’t even hesitate. He took a seat on the stool and silently watched as Y/N used her powers to move the cookies to a cooling rack. An almost white glow seemed to envelop the cookies as they slowly moved from one tray to the next. She moved assuredly, her eyes trained in concentration in the task before her.  “How do you like your coffee, Rogers?”
Steve paused, a little surprised by the question but he wasn’t really sure why. She’d already offered to make it for him. Why should he be surprised that she would make it to his liking? “To be honest, I’m not sure.”
At that, she stopped. Her eyes snapped to his face, her brows furrowing in confusion. “You don’t know what kind of coffee you like?”
“Well back then our only option was black. No cream or sugar because of the war. There’s all these options now and I’ve never really got around to exploring them before.”
With the way Y/N stared at him, it was a miracle a hole hadn’t burned through his forehead.
“Why don’t I make you my go to coffee order so you can give it a try? You aren’t allergic to anything, right?”
“I’ll have whatever you’ll have. I was allergic to whole bunch of things before the serum but I’m not anymore.”
Y/N simply nodded silently before walking towards the espresso machine and grabbing ingredients from one of the massive fridges. Cartons of milks and bottles of syrups flying out of the fridge in a neat conga line, swaying this way and that.
“I’m a little surprised you didn’t know that I wasn’t allergic to anything,” Steve said, his words trailing off. Y/N was smart, a certifiable genius who could wield magic more effectively than Steven Strange. She wasn’t nearly as powerful as Wanda but there was no denying that she’d give the Scarlet Witch a run for her money if the situation called for it. Steve had expected that Y/N would learn everything there was to know about the Avengers, especially since they were her enemy.
“I did know you weren’t currently allergic to anything,” Y/N said, her words almost indecipherable over the loud din of the brewing espresso. “It would have been rude of me not to ask so I did.”
Oh.
Well, Y/N was nothing if not impeccably well mannered.
She turned to him then, her gaze pure unbendable steel as her eyes locked to his. “Steve, what are you really doing here? I haven’t done anything remotely villainous for the past few months.”
“I told you, the storm.” Even his words sounded feeble in his ears.
“You expect me to believe that you came all this way to, what, protect me from the hurricane? My house is reinforced by magic, Rogers. Nothing can harm me while I’m in here. Not rain, snow, tsunamis, earthquakes or hellfire. And I know you know that. And if what your saying is true and you wanted to warn me about the storm, I’m suppose to suddenly believe that you, what, care about me? So why are you really here?”
The urge to tell her that he really did care about her fought its way out of his throat, scratching and biting and screaming as he struggled to push it back to whatever box it crawled out of. Feeling anything but antagonism for Y/N was a recipe for disaster, one that had the word DOOM spelled out all over it.
The truth is, they were two very different people. Or, at least, Steve desperately hoped that they were different.
He was a good person. He didn’t need a super soldier serum to tell him that he was a good person.
But calling Y/N a villain wouldn’t have been fair to her.
She was so much more.
When it came to Y/N, the lines were always blurred. Even when she did terrible things like murder people, you couldn’t bring yourself to feel bad for any of the people she’d killed because they themselves were monsters. And when she did good, it was far better than any goodness Steve had done in his life. Y/N had been known to heal children sick with cancer, permanently purging their diseases from their bodies. She’d helped protect rape victims and domestic abuse survivors by giving them protective charms.
But because of her methods, because she’d never been afraid to kill and hurt in order to achieve her goals, she’d been labeled a villain.
Her personality changes were enough to give Steve whiplash.
Still, Steve couldn’t deny the obvious attraction between them.
The first time the Avengers had captured her, she had been in a gleeful mood. Almost manic. She’d succeeded in assassinating a high profile senator who was running for the presidency and while his profile was clean cut on the outside, his assassination broke the news that he wasn’t as good as he claimed to be. He’d profited off of a sex-trafficking ring, selling girls as young as 4 to shady buyers looking for slaves. There’d been signs of torture and mutilation on his body and with the way his blood drenched Y/N from head to toe, it was clear she’d felt no remorse for what she’d done.
Steve almost didn’t want to arrest Y/N then and in truth, a part of him had been relieved when she’d escaped her cell. The whole team had silently agreed to not answer any of their phones when she’d initially escaped. Even Nick Fury had agreed to put his phone on silent.
After a week, Y/N was sighted in Madripoor freeing the captured women. The lives of a thousand women in exchange for one horrible, greedy man didn’t seem like a hard exchange in Steve’s eyes. When the Avengers finally arrived on the scene after several pitstops involving coffee, donuts and ice cream, Y/N went with them willingly only after she confirmed that the women would be fine, giving each of them a protective charm that helped them sleep better at night despite the traumas they’d endured.
After that, she’d stretched out her arms, ready for the power-dampening handcuffs that Tony had designed specifically for her. She’d done with an almost gleeful smile on her face, humming an unfamiliar song. Despite the soot, the blood and bruises that marred her pretty face, she was the image of pure contentment.
“Don’t even think of escaping, Y/L/N,” Tony had said as she clasped the manacles around her wrist, the technology whirring to life with a little beep. “With these little guys around your wrist, you can’t use a single iota of your powers.”
She’d smirked at Tony then. “Very bold of you to assume I need magic to escape.”
Steve and Natasha had taken it upon themselves to escort her to her prison cell with the rest of the team staying behind to ensure that all the freed women would be okay.
“You know, I’m almost rooting for you,” Natasha said with a wry smile.
“Almost?” Y/N asked incredulously.
“Scratch that. I am rooting for you.”
Y/N smirked. “I’m a huge fan of yours, too you know. It’s not everyone who can defeat a giant purple alien hellbent on destroying half the universe’s population.”
“What can we say? All in a day’s work.”
“I hope there isn’t any hard feelings between us when I do eventually escape from these restraints.”
“That’s going to depend on how hard you hit us.”
“I’ll try not to throw a punch.”
Y/N eyed Steve on her right, who had been quiet during the whole exchange. “He looks sturdy though. I’m sure I can take both of you in a fight even with my hands tied behind my back. Well, with my hands tied in my front, rather.”
She did manage to escape that time.
One moment she was sitting at the back of the Quinjet, the very image of regality and the next, the manacles were off her hands, with the Quinjet’s hangar opened as she jumped out of it, the whole interaction happening before either Steve or Natasha had even unbuckled their seat belts.
Neither Steve nor Natasha were eager to run after her.
The second time the Avengers captured her, Y/N had paid a visit to a suave businessman who’s whole appeal was his efforts to Go Green!
As it turns out, the only green he was after was money.
Y/N had leaked the news, telling the world about how the businessman’s green message had been nothing but a sham. He’d burned down whole forests to cultivate land in order to create cocaine that he could serve to the masses, exploiting young boys by turning them into dealers and addicts.
Y/N had leaked the story to the press, telling the world about how the businessman’s whole green message was nothing but a lie. Not only was he burning whole forests down to fuel his greed, he’d been doing it to plant cocaine plants, enough to get the whole northern hemisphere high on his supply. It was lucrative business and he’d exploited young boys by forcing them to work in the factory, forcing them to get high to keep them subservient to him.
She’d gone after the businessman first, sending a message to the world that his hypocrisy wouldn’t be tolerated. She hanged him, dangled his body over the side of his company’s skyscraper in New York then proceeded to free the boys stuck in his factories around the world before cutting down the cocaine farms and replanting new trees.
With the businessman’s shady dealings all over the world, it had been difficult to track down where she’d strike next. Not that the Avengers were actually eager to capture her.
Strangely enough, Bruce would find himself immensely hungry before they had to fly to wherever in the world Y/N was in and it didn’t do well not to feed the Hulk.
They’d finally captured her in a tiny island off the coast of Mexico, the last of the businessman’s strongholds. She’d freed the boys, cured them for their addiction then cut down the cocaine plants. Then she sat down and waited for the Avengers to arrive.
“Took you guys long enough,” Y/N had said as Steve and Natasha walked towards her. She stood up, dusting off her pants.
“Scott drank a lot of orange juice on the way here. We had to make a lot of pitstops.”
Y/N frowned at them. “I distinctly remember that your jet had a restroom.”
“Plumbing was broken according to Tony,” Steve said with a shrug.
She made a noise of assent before she put up her arms. “Alright, I’m ready. Let’s go.”
“Put your hands down. We aren’t going to cuff you.” Natasha led the way to the Quinjet where Scott Lang and Bruce Banner waited.
“Oh, pulling out the red carpet for me?” Y/N batted her eyelashes, almost flirtatiously. “You shouldn’t have.”
“If I had my way, you’d be in cuffs,” Steve huffed under his breath.
Y/N raised a challenging brow. “Not a fan of me, Steven?”
“I’m not a fan of anarchists,” Steve retorted.
“Anarchist,” she repeated with a pleased grin. “I like that. Never been called that one before.”
“Steve,” Nat said in a warning tone.
The group had already discussed the whole Y/N situation. While majority of the Avengers thought that while Y/N’s actions were brutal, ultimately, the end results and her intention was good. Even if it resulted in the death of one evil soul, none of the could deny that her actions ended up saving hundreds, if not thousands, of lives.
She may not have taken down a giant purple alien hell-bent on wiping out half of all living beings, no one could deny that her actions saved others.
Still, Steve didn’t exactly approve of her methods.
“Listen, I get it,” Y/N said as their group ascended up the Quinjet, occupying one of the empty seats and giving Bruce and Scott a greeting nod. “I’m not exactly conventional but sometimes, it takes breaking the system to help others. You can’t help the survivors if they were victimized by the very system created to protect them.”
“I’m just saying there are proper channels—“
“No there aren’t. There are no proper channels for people like them.”
Steve frowned. “Who, the oppressed?”
“No. Them. The rich and powerful bastards who constantly use their money and resources to take advantage of people. There is no justice when it comes to them.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t I?” Y/N turned to Scott, who watching the exchange between her and Steve with rapt attention. “Lang, weren’t you imprisoned for grand larceny?”
“It was one time,” Scott sighed, “and I didn’t steal that money for myself. I gave it to the people most in need.”
“Right, and how many years did the CEO you stole from spend in jail for stealing from his employees?”
“None,” Scott replied, almost quietly.
She turned back to Steve. “See? The system is broken and sometimes the only way to make it work is to smash it completely to bits.”
He’d ignored her then and it didn’t take much effort for her to escape them.
“Oh daaarn,” Natasha said sarcastically as her hands pulled at the accelerator, taking them further and further away from where Y/N landed, “we can’t exactly turn back now. Might as well go get some ice cream while we’re at it.”
They met again after the death of a high-profile serial killer. Because the serial killer work in law enforcement, he got off easy and he was released after 10 years in prison despite the fact that he’d killed 23 families, roughly 100 or so people. No one was spared, not women or children or even babies.
When he got off, Y/N was there to make sure he never hurt anyone again.
“He could have changed!” Steve yelled, his voice bouncing around the Quinjet. He was alone with her this time, having rushed to the scene of the crime. “He could have become a better person.”
“He could have,” Y/N said quietly, her unblinking eyes trained on open sea in front of them. Steve wasn’t sure where he was flying the Quinjet but he’d be damned if he brought Y/N back to US soil. She’d be met with handcuffs as soon as she lands and it wasn’t Y/N he was worried about. Anyone who tries to arrest Y/N would end up in the hospital. “I’m not willing to take that chance.”
He glanced at her. Y/N’s face was passive, a stoic facade as hard as stone but her eyes were soft, the sadness and pain in her eyes unmistakable.
“When you can do the things I can,” she whispered, her voice so low, Steve strained to hear, “when you’re cursed with powers like I have, you have two choices. You can either lash out at the world or you can do something to fix it. Any person that man would have killed after he was released, their blood would have been on my hands.”
“You are not responsible for other people’s actions,” Steve said, his previous anger leaching from him.
“You’re right. But I am responsible for my own. Now where are you taking me? If you’re not entirely sure, you can drop me off in Australia. I have some business to attend to.”
“What business?”
“Not that you care but the leader of the Russian mafia is staying there for vacation. That man and his operation has killed hundreds of people. I’d like to pay him a visit. I can portal my way there but using the Quinjet means I have a few minutes to rest my eyes.”
The right thing to do would have been to bring Y/N back to the States to answer for her crimes. Instead, Steve turned the plane around and headed to Australia. And as Y/N slept soundly, he ignored the vice-like grip of the anaconda that constricted itself around his heart.
They landed in Australia after a few hours and he watched as Y/N stretched her body against the seat. “That has to be the best sleep I’ve had since… well I hardly remember.”
“Go,” Steve said, his voice harsh. “Before I change my mind.”
But Y/N did no such thing. Instead she lounged against the seat as if it was her throne and she its lazy queen. “You know, when Natasha or even Tony let me go, I understand their motives. Tony doesn’t trust the legal system and Natasha could have been one of the women I saved in another life. But you? Don’t you have a stick up your ass the length of a stripper pole?”
Steve bristled at her words but kept his mouth shut. His eyes were narrowed into slits as he watched a wry smile pull her lips.
“So, what, Steve? What’s the play here? You really want me to kill this guy? Why are you letting me go?”
“There are a lot of people who deserve to go to jail. You aren’t one of them. What you do with your freedom, that’s up to you.” His words were the truth. She looked at him with an expression he couldn’t really place and for a single second, it was as if a silent agreement passed between them. But the moment was gone and Y/N conjured up a portal and sashayed away.
That was three months ago and any and calls Steve heard regarding Y/N, he’d ignored. He ignored her when Y/N went on a prison break binge, releasing small time drug offenders and helping cure them of their addiction; he’d ignored her when she’d leaked the financials of big pharmaceutical companies, causing their sales to tank and for the price of insulin to go down; he’d ignored her when she’d saved hundreds of women in another sex trafficking ring.
Except now, today. He’d heard reports from Nat, who decided to keep in touch with Y/N on the down low, on Y/N’s location and he ran here. Now she was looking at him with the most perplexed look on her face.
She turned, once again busying herself with making his coffee.
“I’m surprised you aren’t using magic to make the coffee,” Steve said.
She shrugged. “I like making it by hand. Reminds me of simpler times.”
She set the steaming mug of coffee in front of him before grabbing a small plate and setting a few pieces of the freshly baked cookie in front of him. The coffee was still hot enough to hurt his mouth but Steve didn’t hesitate to take a sip. He’d had worse injuries than a burnt tongue.
The coffee was delicious. It was sweet, sweeter than he was used to but still delicious. The cookie, on the other hand, was something else entirely. He half suspected that maybe Y/N had sprinkled some kind of magic potion on the cookie because it was the best damn cookie he’d had in his life. The outside of the cookie was soft but the inside was gooey, the butter saturating through every nook and cranny. It melted on his tongue, the dark bitter chocolate and sweet butterscotch encased in a tango of flavor that danced on his tongue.
He briefly wondered if it would be polite to ask Y/N if he could bring home the entire tray.
“Good?” She asked, taking a sip of her own cup.
“This is the best cookie I’ve had in my life.”
She smiled at that. “Thanks. It’s an old recipe.”
Mundanity with Y/N was weird but strangely nice.
“So what are you really doing here, Steve?” Y/N asked as she took a seat in the stool next to him.
He took another sip of the coffee, buying himself some time. “To be honest, I’m not sure.”
She raised an eyebrow. “You’re not sure why you’re here? Radio silence from the Avengers for three months despite the crimes I committed and then all of a sudden, Steve Rogers grants me a house call.“
When she put it that way, he sounded ridiculous. But the words he’d spoken were the truth.
Instead, he shifted the subject. It was all he could to escape from Y/N’s scrutinizing gaze anyway.
“Right before we got to Australia, you said something,” Steve said the words slowly, hoping not to scare Y/N off by his line of questioning, “you said you were cursed by your powers?”
Steve had been mulling over her words for the better part of three months, taking it out like a precious pearl to examine on his quiet days. He couldn’t make heads or tails of it. All he knew was that her words were strange. Y/N was a gifted magic user and Stephen Strange had often commented at her adept ability at it. It took people years, centuries even, to gain the level of mastery Y/N had when it came to magic and yet she used as surely as she breathed.
Why would she refer to it as a curse?
Y/N raised a brow, almost in challenge. “You’re telling me the Avengers haven’t figured it out?”
Y/N usually spoke in riddles and though it always frustrated Steve, he was also incredibly patient and so his next words came out even. “Figured what out?”
“My powers. I thought Steven Strange would try to figure me out the moment I came on to the scene.”
“He tried. Well, still trying. It frustrates him, y’know. How he can’t find answers to you.”
She grinned at that. “Alright then, I’ll give you the answers to me. Then it’s up to you if you want to tell him or not.”
“Why do you think I’ll keep everything you say to myself?”
“Because you’re Steve Rogers. And you came here, to me, in the middle of the biggest storm of the year, to see if I was okay. I doubt the others know and I’m pretty positive you wouldn’t tell them. So whatever information I say here, right now, you’ll keep to yourself.”
She was right. Of course she was. Steve figured Y/N was rarely wrong about anything.
“Alright. Go ahead. How’d you get your powers?”
“I was cursed with it by a god.”
She said it so seriously, Steve struggled to figure out if she was telling the truth.
“Why do you say it’s a curse?”
“Well the god who cursed me said that as the years past, I will become the most powerful magic wielder to exist. My powers will magnify tenfold, twentyfold and one day, I will become so powerful, I’ll have the ability to take over entire universes. Problem with that is magic always comes with a price and mine is my conscience. Every time I use my powers, my conscience becomes blacker until finally, it becomes a void inside of me.”
“So when you use your powers—“
“A piece of me dies with it and is reborn into something I don’t recognize. It’s why I do what I do.”
Realization dawns on Steve. “You do your own twisted version of good to remind yourself you can be good.”
She gave him a wry smirk tinged with bitterness. “There’s no place for me in Heaven, Steve. Only Hell. But when I get down there, I’m taking as many as I can down with me. Assuming I can die, that is.”
“You’re immortal?” Steve said with a frown.
“Well, according to the god that cursed me, I will not age and I will never get sick. Though, I imagine that if I was stabbed through the heart and someone finds a way to stop me from using my powers to heal myself, I’d die just like any other human.”
She gave him a pointed look, one that Steve shifting in his seat uncomfortably.
“If you want to use my weaknesses against me, go right ahead, Rogers,” Y/N said nonchalantly before taking a slow sip of her coffee. “I’ll even stand still while you plunge a knife through my heart.”
“I don’t have any intention of killing you.” And it chilled Steve to the bone to find out how much he meant those words.
“Bummer.” And Y/N looked genuinely disappointed.
“Hey,” Steve said sharply. “Life is a gift. You shouldn’t—“
“Can it, Rogers. I don’t want to hear that right now,” Y/N said but there was no malice in her voice. She just sounded tired.
Fine. If she didn’t want to discuss it, Steve was more than willing to change the subject. “You never said why the god gave you your magic.”
Y/N let out a cynical chuckle. “He was in love with me.”
“What?” Steve asked, not quite believing her words.
“The god. He was in love with me. I turned him down. Repeatedly, might I add. He got so fed up by my rejection, he decided to curse me with immortality and power. He said that one day, when I get bored with my life, it will drive me to his arms. I intend to live forever without ever thinking of him again just to spite him. And when I gather enough power, I’ll kill him myself. He can take away my humanity but he can’t take away my hatred of him.”
Steve couldn’t stop his smile. Y/N’s story was sad, incredibly so. He couldn’t imagine the profound loneliness that stretched before her. Centuries, maybe even a millennia of isolation and solitariness to spite a vengeful god. But she’d succeed, Steve had no doubts about that. He couldn’t picture anyone squaring up with Y/N and coming out of it victorious on the other side.
“So, what do we do now, Steve?” Y/N said with a slight sigh.
“What do you mean?”
“Well you broke a boundary. We never explicitly said it but I think we both decided to keep each other at arms length. I’ve been chummy with Nat and Yelena up to a point but not you. Back in Australia, I think we both agreed that our relationship will be strictly professional, even if we never really said the words out loud. But now, you’re here. What do we do about that?”
“I don’t know.”
Y/N simply sighed before taking a sip of her coffee. “Every morning, when I wake up, I find myself looking for reasons to get out of bed.”
“What are you doing?” Steve said with a frown.
“I celebrated my 100th birthday last (birthday month). I love to read. When I get bored, I write poetry. I love music though I was never talented enough with it but I do have centuries to learn now so who, knows, I might start. I love art too. I’ve been everywhere in the world and yet I never fail to visit a museum to see their art. I like sad paintings. The kind that can bring people to tears.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
She looked at him like he was the biggest idiot in the world and the answer should have been obvious by now. But Steve knew how to look past the arrogant veneer and see the vulnerability that swam in her eyes. “I’m going to live forever, Steve. And even if I’ll always remember other people, I won’t always be remembered. I figured, it’d be nice if someone knew some things about me. The last person I knew from my old life, she recently died. As humans, we are the people we know. I want someone to know me, even a little.”
“I miss music from the 1940s,” Steve said, not even thinking about the words. “Sam and Nat have both been trying to update me about the music of the decade but nothing beats my music. I like wearing converse because it’s one of the few things that never changed since I woke from the ice. I don’t like the rain. It reminds me too much of the war. There’s a boxing gym I use to go to back in New York. I never had a chance to box before because I was always too sick but I use to accompany Bucky whenever he had a match. When I was injected by the serum, I never had a chance to go back and so when I woke up from the ice it was one of the first places I went to.”
“Was the gym still operational?”
“It’s a little run down but I make it work.”
She smiled at him and Steve tried to ignore the jolt of warmth that shot down his spine.
“Why are you telling me these things?” She asked, an eyebrow raised in question, a playful expression beginning to bloom from her face.
“Friends know things about each other.”
And then Y/N’s face lightened like the sun peeking from the clouds after a storm, all warmth and joy.
The rain. Steve hadn’t even realized it had stopped. He glanced at the window behind Y/N and saw that the day looked almost as bright as Y/N’s smile.
“You need to go, don’t you,” Y/B said a little wistfully.
“Yeah,” Steve said, a little wistful too. He finished the cup to the dregs letting its sweet flavor fill him up til he was sure he’d be able to taste it until he got home.
Y/N led them out of the kitchen and back to the living room before she opened the front door and let him out.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Y/N,” Steve said as he pushed his sweaty hands into his pocket.
“You will?” She said, surprise laced in her voice.
“You said you struggle to find reasons to wake up in the morning. I’ll be a reason to. Friends do that, you know.”
“I know,” Y/N said but without her usual bravado. She looked almost roseate and Steve suddenly realized how strange it is that despite the fact that he’s seen her many times before, he never realized how pretty she was. As if a sudden burden had been lifted from her shoulders, making her look younger than actually was. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Steve.”
“See you tomorrow.”
And she closed the door.

You, Bucky, Wanda and Steve are in the hospital wing of the tower, visiting with Sam who was injured fighting the Winter Soldier when Tony enters the room. "I don't mean to break this... whatever this is, but I need the Sergeant," he indicates to Bucky as he starts walking out of the room.
"Wait, Tony! What's happening?" Steve asks from Sam's side.
Tony takes a deep breath and sighs loudly before he turns to the room. "I went through the camera feeds and it turns out Scott whispered something to the Winter Soldier before all hell broke loose. I'm pretty sure it was the location to take Y/N to. I need Bucky to tell me where it is so we can find those bastards and end this."
"Why don't you just ask Scott? Surely he can't be so tough?" Sam inquires.
"See, the thing is..." Tony runs his palm down his face rubbing his tired eyes, "we can't do that. He had a cyanide capsule and killed himself in the cell. We didn't know until he bit down and it was too late. The audio is too low, not even JARVIS can piece it together. So I need Bucky to remember."
You cringe to yourself as all eyes fall on Bucky. "But I don't remember him saying anything after triggering me... I tried going through the events in my mind but nothing pops up," Bucky says as he rubs the back of his neck.
"We thought you'd say that. It's natural to remember only the big events when you're the Soldier. Your thought patterns are different to his, after all. Bruce and I believe a form of hypnosis where you walk through the events step by step might be the best. Witnesses often remember more details when they're hypnotised in a relaxed environment. I'd ask Wanda to make it easier but I know you understandably wouldn't want anyone messing with your mind ever again."
A shudder runs through Bucky at the thought of being at someone else's mercy. "Yeah, sorry Wanda. Besides, I don't think you want to be anywhere near my fucked up mind..."
"Don't say that Bucky. Your mind is perfect," you say as you softly punch his arm.
"It's good. I honestly don't want to be in any of your weird minds unless it's unavoidable," Wanda says as laughs surround her.
"Yeah, we are all pretty special in our own way!" Sam says softly, a huge smile on his face.
It's Steve that brings the conversation back to Tony. "The hypnosis, is it safe for him? There's no chance of it bringing the Soldier back?" Steve always has his best friend's back and wants to keep him safe.
"Since we won't be saying his trigger words, it should be safe."
"But it will be terrifying, being back in that mindset, Bucky. You need to decide." Wanda adds, earning a nod from Tony.
You can feel Bucky's heart racing when he pulls you to him and meets the other's gazes. "If it's the only way to stop this, then I guess we have to..."
Tumblr media
"Maybe you shouldn't be here, doll," Bucky whispers in your ear as you enter the lightly illuminated room. "What if they're wrong and I hurt everyone?"
"You won't, handsome. Besides, I'm the only one Winter won't hurt, remember?" Bruce points to the couch and you and Bucky sit down. You grab his hand before whispering in his ear, "I'm with you Bucky. Just relax for me."
"Ok, let's get started. I need you to watch this pendulum and try to relax, alright? Just follow it with your gaze and when you feel sleepy close your eyes."
Bucky sighs before doing as you say and sinking into the couch, trying to relax. It was decided that Bruce would be the one to hypnotise Bucky. The strained relationship between Tony and Bucky would make it difficult for Bucky to relax.
Steve was seated in the corner of the room, behind the two of you, just in case things went wrong and his strength was needed, even if he was injured. He was the only one with a chance of surviving the Winter Soldiers' attack long enough.
Bucky nods to him, rubbing his sweaty right palm on his pant leg. After a few minutes of watching the pendulum, Bucky huffs in frustration. "I'm sorry, I just can't seem to relax." He leans his head on the couch and pinches his nose, his hands trembling with anxiety.
When Bruce looks at you, you can see he doesn't know how to calm the frustrated man next to you. You think for a moment before nodding to Bruce. "Maybe if you two left, he'd relax a bit more." You motion to Bruce to give you an earpiece to communicate with you. He nods before he leaves quickly and returns a few minutes later with what you need.
"Are you sure Y/N?" Steve asks from the door.
"Of course, I'm safe with him. Just give us some time to do this." With a last worried look, the two men depart, leaving you with an irritated Bucky.
"It's just the two of us now," you whisper to Bucky as you put the earpiece in your ear, hearing Bruce softly talking to you and informing you that they're watching from the camera.
You run your hands through his hair, scratching his scalp softly with your nails, making him smile at your touch. "Just relax for me handsome," you add as you move your hands from his scalp and rub his tense broad shoulders, massaging up into his neck, making him moan softly. "You can do this Bucky, I'll help you."
He nods before he pulls you into his lap, holding you close to him. "Ok, I'll try again."
You reach over and start the pendulum again, running your fingers down his veiny arm as he stares ahead, watching the moving object. "You're safe here Bucky. When you feel sleepy, just close those beautiful blue eyes for me."
In moments his eyes begin to drop as he leans against the couch and closes his eyes.
You repeat what Bruce says in your ear softly, hesitant to break Bucky's relaxing state. "Think back to earlier, when you woke up in the gym. Walk me through what happened."
"I was so tired, I just wanted to sleep, but someone wouldn't let me. He grasped my shirt and pulled me up, waking me from a deep sleep. I thought it was one of the guys, trying to wake me, but then I heard the words. If I was more awake, I would have tried to stop the voice but I was still a bit under. Wake enough to hear him but not enough to stop him. I felt so cold, so lonely."
Your heart breaks for the man you love but you continue, "What did he say after he activated you?"
"Destroy the Avengers and kill anyone that gets in your way. Bring Y/N to the Rumlows, unharmed." Bucky's voice is strained as he repeats to you what was said.
"What happened next?"
"I heard someone yelling before he pulled me back and whispered to me."
"What did he say?"
Bucky's eyelids move rapidly as he's deep in thought. He mentions an address in Queensbridge which makes both Bruce and Steve groan in your ear.
"Did he say anything else?" You ask softly.
"No, he left before I engaged with Sam." Bucky's voice hitches, his anxiety about what happened with Sam overwhelming him as he twitches in thought.
"You did good, Bucky. I need you to wake up now."
When he opens his eyes they are full of pain and sadness. He pulls you to him and kisses you deeply, holding you to him for a moment to calm his racing mind. Slowly the two of you exit the room and meet Steve and Bruce in the hallway.
"We'll all get some sleep before we make a move on the venue tomorrow morning. It's a dangerous part of Queens so we need to be careful with how we handle the situation." Steve says as Bruce agrees with him.
"I'll have JARVIS run some scenarios while we all get some rest, and then we'll decide how to proceed tomorrow."
The two of you say good night to everyone before you walk to Bucky's rooms.
Tumblr media
You pull Bucky into the bedroom before dropping his hand and moving to take off your shirt. This time you were going to be strong and go after what both of you wanted. You gasp the edges of your shirt and pull it off you, seeing the look of passion on Bucky's expression before he turns away abruptly.
"You ok?" You ask as you step out of your pants, leaving you in just your bra and panties.
He doesn't face you as he replies with a soft, "yeah." He wipes the palms of his hands on his pants, avoiding looking at you.
"Bucky, what's wrong? I want to be with you." You move in front of him but his reaction still remains the same. Your breathing becomes rapid as you feel anxiety settle in your stomach. "Holy shit... you don't want me, do you?" Mouth gaping, you turn away from him, cupping your lips to stop a gasp of devastation. "You say you love me but..." You can't bring yourself to finish that sentence. Bucky was supposed to be one of the good ones, but was he just stringing you along for fun?
He gasps your arm and steps closer to you, his chest against your back, stopping you from pulling your clothes on again. "Of course, I want you, kitten. I want you more than I want to breathe, and when I say I love you I mean it. Don't you ever question that." His voice is hoarse in your ears.
"Then what's wrong Bucky?" You turn to face him, pulling his arms around your back so he holds you close.
"I... I haven't done this in a long time, doll." His blue eyes are filled with concern as his shoulders haunch. "And I... I have scars Y/N. I'm not like Steve with his perfect skin and pretty looks. I don't want you to be repulsed by me..."
He looks so vulnerable in front of you that you just want to kiss him, so you do. You kiss him gently, showing him your love for him. "I've been with pretty boys before, and it didn't work out well for me." You cup his jaw with your hands, "You're handsome Bucky, and I love that. Tell me something - the scars - did you get them when you went on missions as the Winter Soldier?" If you knew how he got them, then maybe you could ease his anxiety a bit.
"A couple, yeah, but most of them were as a result of the... regime... they put me through to become him. When they deemed me important enough and they could control the Soldier, they gave me a shot to increase my healing abilities for the future, but by then I had a lot of scars that they decided were not important enough to fix."
"So you got your scars when you tried to fight back all those years? When you refused to bend to their will and hurt people?"
He leans into your palm, "I guess so, yeah."
"You know what that tells me, Bucky? It shows me that you would rather have them hurt you than you would hurt someone else. That is the man that I love and want to be with. You help people, even when they're afraid of you or say ugly things about you. You care about the people around you, even if you think they just accept you due to your skills. Bucky, you made a kid's day by signing with him. You are amazing," you say as you softly begin to pull his shirt off of him, giving him time to stop you if he wanted to.
Your eyes run over his powerful form, seeing the multitude of scars littering his chest before you bend down to run your tongue over each scar, wanting to replace the bad memories with good ones.  "I love you so much, my handsome Sergeant. These scars of yours are a testament to how much you've survived. What they did to you would have broken any other man. I'm honoured to call you mine."
Bucky is feral as his lips meet yours, kissing you feverishly as he pulls you to him, kissing the breath out of you. When you finally separate, you reach behind you to unclasp your bra but he stops you.
"Let me," he says as he pulls your bra straps down your shoulders before reaching his huge arms around your waist to unclasp your bra, watching with dark eyes as it falls to the floor, his gaze narrowing to your naked breasts. You moan as he cups them, one hand warm and the other cold, sending chills down your body. You look down between the two of you and see he isn't unaffected by your naked breasts as his erection stands proud between the two of you, straining against his pants.
"You fit my hands perfectly, doll. You were made for me," he growls in your ear, making you moan with need before moving his flesh hand down your body to cup you between your legs. "You're so wet for me, aren't you?"
"Only for you, Bucky." He kisses you as he walks you back to the bed. When you reach the edge, you climb onto the middle of the bed, pulling him with you.
He props himself on top of you, holding himself up by his knees and elbows. "Is this ok, doll? I don't want to frighten you."
"This is perfect, Bucky. I trust you and I know you won't ever hurt me."
He kisses you before working his way down your neck, stopping to cup your breast with one hand as he twirls his tongue around the other, sucking on you and making you arch your back as you hold onto his big shoulders. He moves to your other breast loving it equally before he moves down your body. He licks your belly button before curling his fingers around your panty and pulling it off you slowly, watching your eyes for any sign of hesitation.
He nudges your thighs open wider to make space for his wide shoulders. You gulp as his intentions become clear. God, how long has it been since someone gave you oral? Your ex had been more interested in his own pleasure than yours.
Your hands grasp onto Bucky's hair as he curls his hands around your inner legs and parts you with his thumbs, opening you up to his gaze before he lowers his head and licks you all over. He sucks on your clit then squeezes his tongue into your hole before licking up your slit again, his tongue doing magical things to your insides making you clench your legs around him.
"Bucky, please... I need to feel you. I need you inside of me," you pant as he licks your slit again.
He moves up and gives you a deep kiss, making you taste yourself on him. "I want that too, kitten. But I don't know how long I'll last when I'm inside you. I need you to come for me first." He kisses your belly button and then moves down again. "I need this to be good for you. Think you can come for me?"
You nod your head and moan as he starts licking you again, rolling his tongue over your clit before sucking deeply as he works a finger into you, making you squirm before adding another.
He spreads his two fingers to stretch you out before he curls them and rubs the spongy spot deep inside you, crooking his fingers as he sucks on your clit. "Oh, God, Bucky!" You call as you come on his fingers, soaking them with your essence before you drop your head on the bed, the orgasm one of the biggest you've ever had before.
"That's it, kitten. You sound amazing when you come for me." His eyes are glazed with need as he pops the button on his pants. "I can't wait to be inside you." You reach out and move his hands away, grasping his pants zipper and pulling his pants down, his hard cock bouncing up to meet you. You gasp at the size of him. He really was big. He groans in delight as you wrap your small hands around his large erection, stroking him up and down, running your thumb over his slit making him shudder with need.
"Please, please! I need you Bucky!" You pull him to you, dripping with your need for him as you grasp his neck and kiss him like your life depends on it. You feel the head of his cock pushing into your entrance as you curl your legs around his waist.
"Jesus, Y/N. You feel so fucking good." He pushes in deeper, inch by inch, making you whimper as you take all of him. "You're so warm and tight." He shudders at the pleasure being inside you gives him, biting his lip to keep still while you get used to his size.
"You're so big Bucky." He leans in and kisses you, biting your lower lip as his hand moves down to your clit to rub you, helping you relax.
"Move Bucky, please." You gasp as he pulls back before pressing into you a few times slowly, letting you get used to his large cock before he increases his pace, sweat beading on his brow from how good you make him feel.
He thrusts into you, moaning as you clench around him. "I'm not going to last long, kitten. I'm so sorry but you just feel so good." You see how he's trying to hold back, wanting to make you feel come again but it just feels so good to be inside you.
"It's alright Bucky. I want to make you feel good too." He drops his face into the crook of your neck, moaning into your ear as his breathing increases. You know he just needs a push before he'll orgasm, so you give it to him. You grab his ass and squeeze it before whispering in his ear seductively, "Come inside me, Sergeant."
Your words make his balls pull up tight as he lets out a hoarse cry. His body trembles with his orgasm as he pulls you to him, his hips jerking as he spurts into you.
He falls onto you, bracing himself at the last moment to avoid crushing you. "Fuck kitten, you're going to kill me with that mouth of yours."
Giggling, you wrap your hands around his shoulders before gasping in surprise. He's still so hard inside you.
"I'm sorry, kitten. I just need you so much." He pulls out a bit before thrusting into you again, your combined wetness making squelching noises as he slowly rekindles the need inside you. He grasps your hips and lifts you to a better angle, hitting your clit with every thrust. He kisses you, tongue swirling with yours as he shoves himself inside you over and over again. You wrap your hands in his long hair and pull softly, making him growl at the feeling. He slams into you, making you gasp before he slows down again, his body shaking with the effort to hold himself back.
"I can take you Bucky. You won't break me," you whisper before tugging his earlobe between your teeth, making his breath shudder. "I want to feel all of you."
He looks at you intensely before he grasps your hips and slams into you, making you cry out at the sensation his glorious cock creates against your wet walls. You feel the edge approach you before you scream out his name as you come, clenching his cock to you as you ride out your orgasm.
"You're mine, you got that?" Bucky says as he rams his cock into you.
"I'm yours and you're mine, Sarge." Bucky's eyes widen, a growl slipping out of his mouth as he pulls you to him, licking your breast before he cries out and shoots his seed inside you.
He pulls out of you slowly, watching your combined juices drip off of you. "You're so fucking amazing kitten. I love you so much," he kisses you before standing up to grab a clean washcloth from the bathroom to clean you off.
"I love you too Bucky," you reply as exhaustion overcomes you, your body still tingling from what your super soldier made you feel.
He pulls you to his side and wraps his arms around your naked body before the two of you drift off into a dreamless sleep.

flirting and kissing
natasha romanoff x gn!reader
“that’s why i don’t shop there anymore. they don’t have anything cute anyway, to be honest, but everything was so cheap.” natasha stares at your lips as you pout, reminiscing about some story. she was trying to focus on what you’re saying, but something about you was distracting her. “nat?” maybe it was the way your forehead creased and your eyebrows furrowed. it reminded of her of a small puppy. “hello??” maybe it was the way your eyes sparkled about whatever you talk about. so pretty and big. she wanted to stare into your eyes forever. “natasta?” she blinks and realizes how far her mind was. you sit, cross-legged, across from her on the couch, turned to face her.
“sorry, i-”
you giggle, “don’t worry about it, i’ve been talking too much anyway. i was probably boring you.”
“no! no, you could never bore me!” she grabs your hand and squeezes. you stare at her, startled. her eyes widen and, quickly, she lets go of you. “keep talking, i like your stories.” she turns away, she feels a blush run up her face.
“o-oh okay, anyway-” you start talking once more, but natasha couldn’t focus. embarrassed, she couldn’t find it in herself to look at you. “natasha.” you call out to her, your voice stern. she looks at you, resigned. “what’s up with you?” you ask, concerned.
something in her melts at the softness in your voice, “i used to be really good at this.” she gestured between her and you. you tilt your head, all puppy-like, in confusion. you start to ask what she means when she continues, “god, i really really like you. and i don’t know how to make it stop cause you deserve someone better, someone less… damaged.” her voice breaks, and she feels hot tears start to stream down her face. it takes her back to bruce and steve and every person that she’s ever tried to love. “i’ve always been too damaged, too broken, too scarred, too-” the sob stuck in her throat breaks her sentence. natasha looks away, not wanting you to see her like this.
“nat…” she feels your palm on her cheek, cradling her face. she leans into it and you gently turn her head towards you. both your hands cradle her face as you both sit an inch apart. tears continue to fall and her eyes trail to your lips. you lean in and your lips press. she pulls you in by the waist. she kisses you like you’ll disappear if she stops. you kiss back with the same urgency. her hands tight around your waist and you sit on her lap. your hands pulling her face against yours. you pull away and natasha chases after you. with a small smile, you rest your forehead against hers. she sighs.
“you are not unlovable. you are a warrior, a hero. you deserve the world and the sun and the moon. and, dare i say it, the whole universe.” you take your hands off her and gesture wildly. natasha smiles and you start to wipe her tears. she leans into your touch. “i like you too, you know. i really, really, really like you.” she pulls you closer, your head falls onto her shoulder. she leans her cheek on your head.
she lets out a wet chuckle, “i swear, i used to be really good at flirting.”

Dead
Stark!Avenger!Reader X Avengers
Summary: Your character gets stabbed during a Hydra Mission.
"Fuck" I cursed as I felt a sharp pain go through my rib. "Erm so guys we have small problem, I may or may not have been impaled through the ribs?"
"What?!!" I heard dad's high pitched scream from the otherside.
"Impaled?!" I heard captain ask in disbelief through the ear piece
"Impaled maybe an exaggeration. More like stabbed." I gritted my teeth, grabbing my side.
"Where are you?"Nat questioned and I heard gun shots from her side,
"It's not that bad" I said firing a shot at one of the Hydra. Hissing as pain coursed through my body.
"Where. Are. You?!" Clint asked with a serious tone. I sure if he could see me right now he would glare at me so hard.
"I see a green spaceship like structure?"
"The lab" Wanda pointed out.
"Underoos check on her you're the nearest" my dad spoke sounding worried,
"Guys I'm fine. I'll last 2 to 4 hours don't worry about me." I hid behind a tree, 'Hydra clearly didn't think this through, so many people could hide out here- oh wait... that's the whole point of it silly me'
"Y/n/n oh god you're bleeding" Spidey landed next to me.
"Yeah no shit Sherlock" I tried to sit up straight but groaned, I had pushed the knife deeper.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck" I sucked a sharp breath from the pain, my eyes stinging with tears.
"Don't move!" Peter exclaimed,he knelt down next to me. I closed my eyes a single tear running down my cheek,he picked me up bridal style as I wrapped my arms around his neck. "You're going to be fine, okay? Don't worry. We'll take you to the lab back home okay?" He comforted as I gingerly nodded, my neck down too painful to move.
"Mr. Stark I'm taking her to the lab she's badly injured." he said swinging up in the air.
I probably passed out half way through cause when I woke up I was in the lab, the silver knife taken out and I was bandaged. I tried to get up but I failed.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." I heard jelly bean say. "You need a lot of rest" you'll be back in your room in an hour or so. Don't worry." He filled his mug with Chai.
"Parker was freaking out when he brought you in. You should have seen his face, what scared him the most is that you passed out inbetween, he thought you must have died" He laughed,as I smiled along, "Oh well, I'm still here am I not?"
"Oh also," Bruce looked at me dead serious "Don't even try to use your powers for the next few days, you're not strong enough for it."
"Yes sir." I nodded gratefully and gave him a salute.

Affliction - Older!Natasha Romanoff x Reader (epiphany au chapter one)
Tumblr media
summary: after being shot multiple times in the field, natasha decides it is time to take control of her own life
warnings: blood, injury, inaccurate medical terms i learned from grey's anatomy, slight angst, age gap (nat is 36, r is 20)
"Natasha, please," you sobbed, tears streaming down your face.
"She's in v-fib, charge to 100," a doctor announced.
"Clear!" Bruce shouted as he shocked your wife with defibrillator paddles, everyone taking their hands off of her lifeless body.
Shaking, you cried aloud, "don't you dare die on me, Romanoff." Maria came over to you, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder, "it's okay, they're gonna save her."
Dr Cho grabbed her phone, "I need another two units of O-neg in trauma room 3 right now."
Bruce shocked her again, sighing in relief when the monitor began to steadily beep again, "sinus tach, we have a rhythm."
"Tasha," you hugged her tightly, being soaked by the blood spilling from her abdomen in multiple places. "Detka, I'm so sorry," she held you close to her, kissing the top of your head over and over again.
"It's okay, you're okay," you told her, but she knew you were reassuring yourself just as much, if not more. "Hey, hey, malysh. Listen to me," her hands trembled as she reached up to hold your face, blood smearing across your cheeks.
You leaned into her touch, your eyes closing as you sniffled lightly. "Everything is going to be fine, I promise. Soon, we'll be back in our bed, eating junk food and watching all of our favourite movies. Stay strong for me, pretty girl," she was soon taken away into an operating theatre, leaving you alone to pace in the waiting room.
Wanda kept you company, lending you a shoulder to cry on and supplying you with an abundance of tissues.
Time felt as though it slowed down while you waited for Natasha's return, your only source of distraction being the various members of the team coming to check on you.
Peter brought a deck of cards, letting you win every game to try to raise your spirits. You caught onto the boy's plan quickly, but didn't mention it.
Yelena pulled a gun from one of her vest pockets when a member of staff told her she couldn't bring her dog, Fanny, in. She sat on the floor with you while you wept and drifted in and out of feel, not even laughing at you once. The pain you were feeling was both understood and shared by the blonde.
A gentle hand shook you awake, dragging you into a room far too bright for your liking. Groggily, you stumbled into a sharp corner, falling to the ground in an exhausted haze.
Quiet laughter echoed throughout the room as a strong pair of arms lifted you off the floor, mumbling something about you being a 'stupid idiot' in Russian.
"Shut up, Lena," you groaned, assessing your surroundings. The source of the prior laugh was laid in a small bed, a thin blanket draped over her. Your eyes began to water, "oh god, Nat."
She beckoned you over to her, shuffling over to one side of the bed so you could squeeze in close to her side. "I thought I lost you," you kissed her cheek. "You can't get rid of me that easily, dorogoya," she tenderly brushed hair from your face, tucking it behind your ear.
Recovery wasn't easy for Natasha. All she wanted to do was get back out into the field, to which you objected strongly.
Even showering seemed to be an impossible task for her, standing for so long was too painful and she often called you in to help her. Of course, you didn't mind. You would take any excuse to admire her toned muscles, and you swore she purposefully flexed them every time she caught you trying to subtly take a look.
One evening, you found her lying in bed, white as a sheet, shivering intensely. "Nat, what's wrong?" you ran over to her, cradling her face gently. "My stomach hurts and I'm freezing," she croaked weakly.
Taking a look at her wound, your eyes widened at the sight of the infected area surrounding her sutures. "FRIDAY, get Bruce in here, right now," you held your wife's hand shakily. "Of course, Mrs Romanoff, right away," the AI replied.
"I love you," you told her as you waited in the infirmary together, afraid of what was going to happen to her. "Malyshka," she kissed your hand, "I think it's time for me to retire."
Taken aback slightly, you tilted your head, silently asking her to elaborate. "I want to stay safe and healthy for you, moya lyubov. Risking my life every other day isn't fair to you, I want us to have a stable marriage where I get to cherish every moment we share. You're the light of my life, the reason I get up every morning and the only girl I ever want in my life," her voice was strained, and she took many pauses between her words.
"I don't want you to stop doing the job you love just because of me," you told her. "It's for myself as well, I've never been able to experience a normal life. If I wasn't fighting for the red room, I was an agent here and I'm exhausted. After thirty-six years, I think I'm ready to live life the way I want to," the sincerity and pain behind her eyes made you realise that she was right, retirement seemed to be a beneficial option to both of you.
Smiling widely, you held her hand the entire time she was getting assessed by the doctors, excited for the next chapter of your life you would get to spend with her.
She was prescribed some antibiotics and soon enough, Natasha was back on her feet, struggling to find things to do when the days felt so long. The avengers were always arguing loudly, irritating her beyond insanity.
Flicking through a magazine, a large house in a small neighbourhood caught her eye. Over the course of the next few weeks, she bought the house and bought some furniture for it.
Walking into your room in the compound, your shoulders relaxed and your jaw unclenched when you saw Natasha sitting against the headboard of the bed. "Hi, pretty girl," she looked up from her book, putting her bookmark in place before beckoning you closer to her.
"I missed you, Tasha," you straddled her lap, nuzzling your face into her neck. "Are you okay?" she asked you, running her fingers through your slightly knotted hair. "The guys have too much energy," your voice was shaky, it was evident that you were overwhelmed from the interaction you had just shared with them.
Natasha felt slightly guilty, there was a perfect house ready to be lived in by the two of you but she hadn't found the right moment to tell you about it yet.
Staring into her beautiful green eyes, you felt at ease. No one compared to her, nobody in the world even came close. "I have something to show you," she picked you up, your thighs instinctively wrapping around her waist.
She took you down to the garage, helping you sit on the back of her motorcycle before driving across the city. Street lights illuminated the beautiful buildings until Natasha brought you to a slightly less bright area.
"Where are we?" you looked around at the big mansions, in awe of the sheer size of them.
"Home, detka."

I'm in Deep with This Girl (Bruce Banner x Reader)
Tumblr media
Category: Fluff, tiny bit of angst
Ship: Bruce Banner x Reader
Trigger Warnings: Mention of attempted suicide (Bruce)
Summary: Bruce recalls how you met and got to where you are today.
Word Count: 2.5k
A/N: My baby boy Bruce does not get enough love and it makes me sad, he's one of my favourites in the MCU :( So I wrote something for him
------------------
Bruce Banner had only three or four defining moments in his life that made him feel like he wasn’t himself, wasn’t a coward. That’s how he used to define himself- cowardly.  A man much more likely to choose flight than fight. In his very scientific opinion, he would’ve been a much better person if he had of been born as someone other than himself.
As such, there has been many times when the doctor felt he wasn’t in control of his own life, not least because he had two consciousnesses occupying his mind, body and soul.
In Bruce’s mind, any time he wasn’t acting like himself, it was a good thing, except, of course, for the times Hulk felt mass destruction was in order. For the first few decades of his life, he was fully supportive of this philosophy. Little did he know, all it would take to begin to crumble this fragile mentality was a few short weeks with an unlikely source of happiness for the man.
...
The day Bruce finally decided to stick that damn gun down his throat rather than just staring at it, he was comforted by the thought that he would be doing…it, his way- not through Hulk’s recklessness or someone else’s means. Of course when Hulk spit Banner’s bullet straight back out, Bruce resigned himself to living a sub-standard life. One devoid of any real joy or passion, save for his work.
He knew the day Hulk first appeared in his life, he would never find love again. Not that he had really found requited love before. In high school, being the nerdy kid got him into more trouble than it was worth. Of course now he is successful and his bullies are struggling with their 9-5, minimum wage lives.
Bruce found himself laughing quietly over this thought as he, Thor and Scott walked down the streets surrounding Stark Tower. Scott, as per usual, was hungry and for the past week, had been trying desperately to convince anyone that would listen, to try a new Japanese restaurant that opened up nearby with him. The Asgardian god was intrigued by the promise of raw fish and a drink that Scott had assured him rivalled the quality of Asgardian mead.
Thor would later find out Scott Lang was simply a light-weight due to his constantly changing metabolism. This was a heartbreak the God of Thunder would not soon recover from.
It was a brisk morning in New York City when Bruce had overheard this conversation and decided he could use some air.
This was how he found himself walking the same route he did most days. Despite living in a tower with unlimited technology, one of the simple pleasures in Bruce’s day was a short walk to get coffee from his favourite hole-in-the-wall cafe. It made him feel normal, like he wasn’t sticking out like a big green thumb.
In order to reach the quaint location, Bruce had to pass by an establishment by the name of Murphy’s. Despite the implication, it was not an Irish pub. This usually made Bruce chuckle and as such, it stuck out in his brilliant mind, however this was not the only reason for its notability. Murphy’s was also where Bruce found his other simple pleasure in his otherwise stressful and frankly one-dimensional life.
You.
Each day he passed, Bruce snuck a look into the cafe to see if the girl who had caught his eye all those months ago was there. The first time he saw you, you were serving drinks to an older couple. You had obviously been working a few hours already. Your hair had fallen slightly out of place, meaning you were constantly brushing it out of your eyes, and your apron was covered in what he could only assume was powered sugar from the cakes in the cabinet of the shop.
Bruce looked up by chance. He noticed how tired you appeared, yet you still took the time to connect with your customers, smiling and laughing. Listening to them. Perhaps this was drew Bruce to you, your ability to listen instead of dominating the conservation, something he was not typically used to having himself.
Bruce watched you smile again at the couple as he walked on. He knew he was doomed from the minute the voice of the green giant himself uttered “pretty lady.”
...
Since then, his habit had become routine, and despite passing by a little later than usual, the doctor hoped you were still there.
Scott and Thor continued their quite frankly, childish, discussion about whether or not Thor could have taken down a T-Rex when Bruce’s eyes wandered to the cafe.
His heart dropped a little as his quick glance for you was unyielding.
“Banner, the insect does not believe I fought Hulk. Tell him about the Grand…Banner?” Thor spoke, trailing off when Bruce didn’t respond.
Shit. He’d been caught.
Thor stopped walking and followed Bruce’s gaze. Just his luck, you emerged from the kitchen as the Norse god realised what was happening.
A smile spread across the blond’s face. “She is a fine maiden, Banner.”
In response to Thor’s comment, a blush appeared on the shorter’s face. This was for two reasons. Firstly, because it was true. You were gorgeous and Bruce suddenly realised how stupid he was to think that you wouldn’t have someone at home waiting for you. Secondly, he realised how idiotic he’d been to even think that he had a chance with you.
Scott, who had finally realised he was walking alone, had quickly retreated back to the group and assessed the situation.
“Bruce, go talk to her. What’s the worst that can happen?” Lang suggested sincerely.
“I don’t know, you guys. I’m not that type of person.”
“Banner,” Thor said softly to his friend, “no reward ever comes from chances not taken.”
“What he said,” Scott concurred, “Go get her, buddy. We’ll see you at the tower later!”
The superhero quickly grabbed Thor’s arm and dragged him away, leaving Bruce outside the cafe wondering what to do.
In the end, Bruce decided he didn’t feel like being himself today.
It was a blur as he walked into Murphy’s. The sweet smell of caramel and coffee enveloped him, thankfully even in his panic-driven state, Bruce decided a table by the back wall was a safe choice.
At least that way he could see the whole room. It seemed some habits couldn’t be broken and he realised, that was in fact, the very thing that had gotten him where he was now.
He eyed off the other patrons as you came over to greet your new customer.
“Hi, welcome to Murphy’s. What can I get you?” Bruce realised he had to speak but the words were caught in his throat, you were even more beautiful up close. “Sir, are you okay?”
“Oh, yeah. I’m fine, I’m so sorry about that.” Bruce willed himself to take deep breaths. “I was actually wondering when your shift finishes. I was hoping that you’d maybe like to sit together and um, have a coffee possibly? Or not, considering it’s your whole job. Never mind, forget I asked.”
“I’d love to,” you interrupted Bruce’s rambling. He didn’t think it was possible but your smile grew even wider and he quickly discovered it was infectious.
“Wow, um, great! Sorry I’m just surprised.”
“I finish in 10 minutes. Can I get you something in the meantime?” You had asked him, heart fluttering.
“Oh, um, no thank you. But what’s your name if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Of course not. It’s Y/N L/N.”
‘Y/N,’ Bruce repeated in his mind, ‘beautiful.’
Bruce emerged from the memory as you changed your position in his lap. He had been reading to you, and knowing you would fall asleep, he had the pair of you wrapped in the warmest blankets he could find.
He started down at the unbelievable woman in his arms and placing a loving kiss to your hairline,  reminisced about how he got so lucky.
…
From day one, you’d always managed to surprise him, the man of science who thought he knew his fair share about the world. And maybe that was why you worked so well together. You provided Bruce with the flare he felt his life was lacking. You were the spark he needed to re-ignite his passion for life.
Quickly after you’d agreed to have coffee with the doctor, Bruce realised he was about to have his first date with you, and as he’d already been proven to do, he rambled nervously. He was pleasantly taken-aback as later on, you recounted information he’d told you, back to him. Not only did you listen to him but you asked questions. You were genuinely interested in him and to take it one step further, you did something not many people dared to do with him, you sassed him.
“Save your breath, Banner,” you’d told him, “you’ve got me.”
In that moment, he thought maybe, just maybe, it wasn’t so bad to be Bruce Banner after all. But oh boy, there was two moments in the doctor’s life with you that surpassed those easily, making him feel like being Bruce Banner was the best thing he could ever be.
“I’m sorry, I’m probably not the guy you were expecting. It’s just that my friends told me to come and talk to you and well, here I am.”
“Bruce,” you started, “is it okay if I call you that?”
He nodded.
You knew who we was, of course you did, and you wanted to respect the title he’d worked so hard to get. Scribbling on a nearby napkin, you continued talking, happy with his consent.
“I’m really happy your friends told you to come in. Truth is, I’ve noticed you too, but I can’t exactly chase a man down the street in the middle of my shift,” you chuckled, sliding him the napkin. “I’m really sorry, I have to go. I’m not ghosting you I swear, this was really great. I just have a thing.”
Bruce took the napkin, feeling his heart sink a little. He never wanted the moment to end. “I understand.”
“I’m sorry, but there’s my number. Call me yeah? I know where you get your coffee if you don’t.”
Bruce, who was still in shock that you even wanted to see him again, simply smiled as you walked out of the cafe, offering him a final wave.
It’s usually a sign that it has been a good day for Bruce  when he returns to the tower and Tony Stark asks him if he’s okay because he’s ‘smiling like a mad man.’
For a week Tony asked him that question, and from that day onwards, Tony knew the key to Banner’s good mood had something to do with you.
The second moment, Bruce remembered, was in his opinion, the best of his life so far. It was the night you told him about your feelings for him.
As he himself was falling asleep on the couch, book abandoned, he recalled how utterly stunning you were the night of Tony’s last fundraiser ball.
…
You had thought long and hard about your dress choice. You wanted to impress Bruce as this was the first time he would be seeing you in anything like this outfit. Not to mention that you’d also planned on taking things to the next level with him.
This was your seventh date and when he’d asked you to be his during date number three, you were over the moon. A month later and you were ready to say it, the thing you’d felt since your first date with the gorgeous doctor. The ‘L’ word.
Bruce, naturally, was oblivious to your feelings and was still reeling that you’d even said yes in the first place. But the moment he saw you in that stunning split-leg red dress, he felt his heart swell with pride. All these people in the room with their eyes on you and you were his. You chose him.
You quickly made your way over to your boyfriend, hiding in his arms and muttering that everyone was watching you.
He’d simply said ‘of course they are, look at you’ and kissed you so sweetly you thought you might swoon. You were sure your cheeks matched the colour of your dress.
You mingled with everyone for a while, talking with Dr. Cho about new medical technological advances, and Steve Rogers about the ‘good old days.’ Everyone was polite and accommodating, you realised you felt more at ease than you thought you would.
Across the room, Thor patted Banner’s back, smiling like a proud big brother, and secretly congratulating himself for being responsible for the connection between you two.
You managed to catch Bruce’s eye soon after and motioned to the bar, moving over after saying your goodbyes to Steve.
“Having a good time?” Your boyfriend asked you. He knew you sometimes struggled with new people and crowds.
“Yeah, I am,” you replied, holding his hand from the adjacent seat.
“I’m glad honey. Now let’s get you a drink and pretend I’m the man of your dreams,” Bruce chuckled nervously, it was a joke from a dinner you’d had a few weeks back.
As he flagged down the bartender, you realised this was your chance.
“I think you just might be, Doctor Banner.”
“Wait, what? Really?!” he questioned, trying to recover from choking on his own spit.
“Yes, Bruce,” you laughed softly. You placed a hand on his cheek and moved so your knees were touching, “In fact, I think I love you…”
You searched the brunet’s face for any signs of a reaction as he stared at you, mouth agape. Before you could apologise or ask if he was okay, you felt your lips being pulled against his.
You had never felt so much passion, let alone known Bruce was even capable of kissing like that.
“I love you too, Y/N, so much.”
You stirred and realised Bruce’s snoring was the cause of your rude awakening. He had shifted down the couch so that he was lying flat, with you still wrapped in his arms, ear to his chest.
“The only benefit of the other guy,” he’d once told you, “is that I can protect you from anything.”
You smiled to yourself as the words rang in your ears. Lifting your head, you placed a kiss on the doctor’s cheek.
“I love you,” you whispered before sleep took you again.
Despite you constantly reminding him of your love, over the coming months , Bruce would often experience doubt about why you were with him. You knew who he was and who he became when he hasn’t himself.
It had taken a long time for you to convince Bruce that Hulk made him a better person, he was not a seperate entity to be feared but a part of him, and that loving Bruce meant loving Hulk too. Hulk very much liked the sound of that and slowly came out to spend more time with ‘his Y/N.’
You trusted Bruce. He saw your demons as you saw his and you knew that was what likely made your relationship feel so effortless, so natural. You didn’t think of Hulk as a demon though, simply an extension of Bruce and it gave you more of him to love. Loving Bruce Banner was all you wanted to do for the rest of your life.
Bruce still passed by Murphy’s every day. But now, it was to get coffee from his girl.
And he knew he was the luckiest person in the world as you threw a kiss in with every cup.

Guardian Angel
Chapter 3: You're Still Worthy
Tumblr media
Summary: Emotional conversations and difficult choices were on the table for everyone the moment Wanda stepped back into the Avengers compound for the first time after Westview. But just because Wanda is starting over doesn’t mean she has to do it alone.
Warnings: Trauma, angst, cursing.
Word Count: 3.1k
A/N: This chapter has two distinct parts. The flashback of Wanda’s first moments back in the compound (italicized) and the present day, approximately one year after Westview.
Guardian Angel Masterlist
Trust takes years to build, seconds to break, and forever to repair. Stepping foot back in the Avengers compound for the first time after Westview was freed was but the latest in a series of painful and tragic chapters in Wanda Maximoff’s story.
Fury was seated in his spacious office, a glass of Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon in his hand. He had a stern expression on his face as he intently watched Wanda's movements on the numerous security monitors placed strategically around the compound. Every twist and turn she made was being closely monitored by Fury, who remained vigilant and alert throughout.
As he sat there, lost in thought, a soft knock on his door broke his concentration. He straightened up in his chair, alert and ready to face whatever was coming. The door creaked open slowly, and a faint light spilled into the dimly lit room, revealing the outline of a figure standing in the doorway.
“Director, Ms. Maximoff is here,” Maria announced.
“Maximoff, have a seat. Or do you prefer Scarlet Witch now?” Placing the glass down on his desk.
Maria glanced from Fury to Wanda before taking her place next to the Director's desk. Wanda sat down, trying her best to hide her nerves. The two of them sat in silence for a moment until Fury finally spoke up.
“You know, it’s crap like this that gives me trust issues,” leaning back in his chair reading the file on Westview.
“Really? I thought it was your sparkling personality that gave you trust issues,” the redhead whispered under her breath.
“Come on, don’t give me that shit. What the hell were you thinking? Throwing the file onto his desk. “3,892 people. 3,892 people manipulated, tortured, and held hostage so you could live out some television family fantasy!” he shouted. “Do you know what I went through to keep Westview classified? What I went through with SWORD to make sure you walked out of there alive and not thrown in the Raft?” His anger growing.
"It wasn't a fantasy!" she exclaimed, as her emotions finally surfaced.
“It was selfish!” Fury shouted.
Maria flinched at the sound of Fury's voice before the room fell silent again.
"Director, have you ever lost someone?" Wanda asked, her gaze fixed on his desk.
“I was a Colonel in the United States Army and a CIA Operative. I’ve lost more people than you can count, including my parents. You’re most certainly not the first person to experience grief.”
Wanda had a determined look on her face as she raised her head to speak. "I cannot help but feel sorry for the ordeal those people went through," she said with a heavy accent, her voice filled with emotion. "Their suffering will continue to trouble me for the rest of my life."
Tears glistened in her eyes as she continued, "When I finally realized the agony I was inflicting, I knew I had to put an end to it. It was a difficult decision, but I have no regrets about the life I lived with my husband and children. We had our struggles, but we also had many happy moments together."
As she spoke, it was clear that Wanda had gone through a lot in her life. Despite the pain and hardship, however, she remained resolute in her determination to do what was right and to find peace in her memories.
Fury exhaled heavily and asked, 'Where are your boys?'
The redhead immediately tensed up, her heart pounding against her rib cage.
“I need you to be completely honest with me, starting right now,” Fury said. “If you want to remain a member of this team and continue to be a productive member of society, it's important that I know everything. Please understand that no one will hurt them.”
In a moment of urgency, Wanda found herself making a quick decision. Despite her reservations, she hesitantly slipped into Fury's mind as his thoughts were too loud to ignore. She knew that this was the only way she could be certain of his intentions and confirm that he was telling the truth. When she emerged, she was certain that Fury was to be trusted. She responded with confidence, "Billy and Tommy are with Darcy Lewis."
Fury nodded. “Where is the Darkhold?”
“I destroyed it.”
“That’s not what the wizard thinks. Strange is sure you wouldn’t have survived the destruction of that type of dark magic.”
Wanda leaned forward in her chair and cleared her throat. "Given everything that's happened, Director, it would be unwise to bet against my abilities."
Fury finished his drink; the ice clinked at the bottom of his glass. "You are dismissed for now, but do not leave the premises," he said.
After leaving his office, Wanda rose to her feet without saying another word. Maria locked eyes with Fury before hurrying after the redhead out of the door. When they were out of earshot of the Director, Maria called out to Wanda, "Wanda, wait!" The redhead had a determined look on her face as she raised her head to speak. "I cannot help but feel sorry for the ordeal those people went through," she said with a heavy accent, her voice filled with emotion. "Their suffering will continue to trouble me for the rest of my life."
Wanda stopped moving and stood still with her back turned towards Maria.
“I’m… I’m sorry,” Agent Hill empathized.
"Sorry doesn't undo what I did or what I've lost," she countered. "Every season of my life has led to a goodbye. My parents, Pietro, Vision. No matter what I've done to try and be better, to help others, to heal. It never ends," her voice cracked. "I don't know how the boys survived, but my heart can't take anymore.
Maria gently placed her warm hand on Wanda's shoulder, feeling the tension and pain in her friend's body. In response, Wanda turned around and fell into Maria's embrace, her facade of composure crumbling as she let out a sob. Maria held her tightly, offering a safe and comforting space for her friend to release her emotions. As Wanda continued to weep, Maria could feel her tears dampening her shirt, but she didn't mind. All that mattered was being there for her friend in need, offering support and solace during this difficult time.
*^~^*
Wanda found herself wandering aimlessly around the compound for the rest of the day. The cold and judgmental gazes of numerous SHIELD agents going about their daily routines bore into her like a hot iron, making her feel like she had committed a grave mistake. The compound was the same as she had left it, but everything felt different. The once-familiar surroundings now seemed foreign and unwelcoming.
Wanda was not ready to return to her room, as she was not emotionally prepared to remember her life before Westview. The memories of her past life seemed distant and unfamiliar to her now. She was unsure of what she would say if she ran into any of her former colleagues. The fear of their judgment and condemnation made her hesitant and unwilling to face them. Lost in her thoughts, Wanda continued to wander around the compound, hoping to find some solace or a moment of peace. But the echoes of her past mistakes and the fear of the future kept haunting her, making her feel helpless and alone.
As she walked aimlessly, lost in her thoughts, the striking redhead found herself standing outside the familiar building of the gym. The sight of it brought back a flood of memories, both good and bad, of the time spent within its walls. She hesitated before peeking through the sliding doors, making sure no one was around before stepping inside. The gym had become a sanctuary for her, a place where she could channel her inner strength and work on honing her abilities. Countless hours were spent in this space, sweating, training, and pushing herself to the limits to discipline both her body and mind. However, all that hard work, all that dedication, was shattered. The unspeakable grief and loss that followed had left her shattered, both physically and emotionally. Yet here she was, standing once again in the same space, her heart heavy with memories and emotions that she had thought she had left behind.
“No matter how many times I tried to train you to fight without using your powers, you always resisted.”
Wanda's attention was immediately drawn to the distinct and familiar sound of a deep, slightly raspy voice that reverberated through the spacious gym. She turned her head and was captivated by the sight of Natasha Romanoff, who stood poised and confident on the other side of the room. Natasha's hair was elegantly styled in double braids, and her black workout attire clung to her fit and toned physique in all the right places, accentuating her curves and strength.
Wanda sighed, "Why fight with one hand tied behind my back?" She moved a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Because it makes you stronger," Nat replied, walking slowly towards her.
“I don’t feel very strong right now.”
“I beg to differ, otherwise you wouldn’t be here.”
Nat quietly observed Wanda's demeanor, noticing the subtle nuances of her body language. The woman standing in front of her seemed to be a mere shadow of her former self, weighed down by the immense burden of grief. It was evident that Wanda was still struggling to come to terms with all that had been lost in Sokovia, Wakanda, and most recently, in Westview. The pain and sorrow etched on her face spoke volumes of the emotional turmoil she was going through, and it was clear that she needed someone to talk to, someone who could understand her pain and help her find a way forward.
Natasha took another tack. “Get in the ring.”
“What?”
Natasha put down her water bottle and stepped between the ropes. "Get in the ring," she repeated.
“I’m in no condition to spar,” Wanda argued.
“Says the Scarlet Witch,” Nat smirked. “Now, come on.”
Wand let out a long, tired sigh and slowly took off her jacket. With a hint of nervousness in her movements, she cautiously stepped closer to the ring, her eyes fixed on the ground beneath her.
“No hand tied behind your back this time,” Nat said, securing her Widow Bites to her wrists.
Natasha took her fighting stance. Wanda mirrored her as wisps of red danced between her fingers. She took the first shot, summoning a wave of telekinetic force toward her opponent. With lightning-fast reflexes, Nat rolled out of harm's way, narrowly avoiding the destructive force. Sensing an opening, Natasha launched herself into an acrobatic assault. Her strikes were precise, knocking Wanda off balance. The split-second window allowed Nat to grip her arm and flip her over her shoulder.
With a flick of her wrist from her backside, Wanda unleashed a barrage of red energy crackling with otherworldly force. The sparring became an explosive dance as Nat deftly dodged and rolled through the chaos, narrowly escaping each attack. Seizing her only opportunity, she countered with a well-timed Widow's Bite. Grunting in pain, Wanda launched her backward into the ropes with one swift motion.
With a fierce determination, Natasha charged forward. Wanda used the last of her depleted stamina to summon a swirling vortex of red. As the intense aura surrounded her, she directed one final blast towards the Black Widow. Nat mustered every ounce of strength and somersaulted forward through the explosion, landing sprawled out on the mat.
Wanda collapsed to the ground, her knees hitting the mat with a thud. She was gasping for air, her body wracked with sobs. Natasha lay nearby, her chest heaving and her breath coming in short, ragged bursts. The widow slowly rolled over and crawled towards her, her movements slow and labored. She reached out and wrapped her arms around the redhead’s body, pulling her close. The two women held each other tightly, neither of them speaking. Wanda's sobs echoed through the room, the sound of her pain filling the air.

Secretary Ross glared intensely at the team gathered around the conference table, his virtual presence towering over his desk in a show of authority. With a tone that conveyed both anger and concern, he spoke up, "I'm genuinely curious. In what universe do you think I'm going to look the other way while you jeopardize the safety of everyone in existence?" His words hung heavily in the air, leaving no room for doubt that he meant every word.
“I don’t know, Mr. Secretary. Why don’t you pick one and we’ll find out,” Natasha remarked coldly. No love was lost between herself and Ross.
Maria gently placed her hand on Nat's arm, silently signaling for her to maintain decorum.
"If you had taken my warning about Wanda Maximoff seriously eight years ago, we wouldn't be facing the dangerous threats to all universes that she has unleashed. Her actions have proven time and again that she is a clear and present danger, and it's time we take action before it's too late." Ross urged.
"We don't judge people based on their past mistakes," Natasha declared.
"Perhaps you should," he said, his gaze fixed on the Black Widow.
Yelena stood up slowly from her chair, her voice laced with a hint of malice. "Maybe it's time the world knew about your worst mistakes, Thaddeus," she threatened, her eyes flashing with anger.
“And we’re sitting,” Kate said, wrapping her arms around her girlfriend and pulling her back down.
"Excuse me, Mr. Secretary, with all due respect, we are not seeking your permission in this matter. Our intention is to inform you of our decision as a courtesy. This meeting is solely for the purpose of sharing our plans with you and ensuring that you are kept in the loop about the steps we are taking,” Steve interjected.
“Tell me Captain Rogers, what is your intended course of action when the witch inevitably betrays your moral compass yet again?” Ross asked, rising from his virtual chair.
“We never abandon one of our own, Sir,” Steve said.
“To be honest with you, Mr. Secretary, the only one here who lacks a moral compass is yourself,” Maria hissed, swiping away his hologram in frustration.
A hard silence fell across the room.
“That went well,” Clint said, as he placed his head in his hands.
“I know you don’t want to hear this, but he has a point,” Fury concurred, leaning up against the door frame.
"Are you still here? I thought you were off to sail the seven seas," Tony said sarcastically as he got up to pour himself a glass of scotch.
“Fury might be right,” Bruce interjected. Are we all forgetting how we met Wanda? Or would you like a replay of the nightmares she put in our heads?”
“No, I’m not,” Natasha said heatedly, turning toward Bruce. “And I’m sure as hell not forgetting who destroyed the Mind Stone when it meant losing the one she loved. Or who was a split second away from defeating Thanos single-handedly, had he not blitzed the shit out of his entire army.”
“Maximoff took an entire town hostage! She manipulated the realities of 3,892 people,” Fury argued.
“In a state of shell shock and overwhelming grief,” Maria countered. “You and I both know she would never hurt anyone intentionally or of her own accord.”
“Are you sure about that? Do you know where the Darkhold is today?” Fury yelled. “Because I can tell you right now, Strange sure as hell doesn’t believe it’s gone.”
“I think you’ve made your point,” Bucky interrupted sternly. His Vibranium hand on Fury’s shoulder.
“Buck…,” Sam cautioned.
Thor's booming voice cut through the tense and chaotic chatter, demanding attention from all present. "Wanda is still worthy!" he declared with the power of a god. "We shall leave no stone unturned in our quest to help her regain her belief in herself." The weight of his words hung heavy in the air, a solemn reminder of the importance of lifting up those who have lost their way.
“That’s more like it,” Nat said.
“Let’s go,” Maria ordered.
*^~^*
Upon her return, Wanda made it clear that her priority was to provide a normal and safe environment for Billy and Tommy, free from the influence of her past mistakes or her sterile work environment. She was determined to create a loving and secure home for her boys. As a result of multiple meetings with Stark, Wanda decided to move out of the compound and into a home that was designed by Tony himself. And true to form, the billionaire created a spectacular home for her and her family.
The elegant craftsman-style house painted in a soft, creamy white hue exuded a warm and inviting aura, beckoning visitors to step inside. The stunning embellished concrete path, beautifully winding its way up to the charming wraparound brick porch and the wide entryway, added to the home's alluring charm. The interior was just as captivating, with each room meticulously furnished and decorated to perfection. Tommy and Billy couldn't contain their excitement as they were each given their own room to adorn and personalize to their heart's content. She encouraged the boys to let their imaginations run wild, and they eagerly reveled in the opportunity to showcase their unique interests and personalities.
A series of photographs adorn the walls, each capturing a distinct memory that the family held dear. As Wanda gazed upon them, she was immediately transported back to the bittersweet moments of their life in Westview - a life that was nothing more than a fabrication. Despite this painful truth, she remained steadfast in her desire to preserve a fragment of that existence for her sons, who knew no other place to call home. The memories, though tinged with sorrow, were a testament to the love and bond that the family shared, and Wanda was determined to keep that flame burning, no matter how difficult it was to revisit the past.
The family room is tastefully decorated with a large navy blue sectional couch, two elegant Paisley armchairs, and a beautiful Cherry coffee table that seems to beckon you to come and sit. The focal point of the room is a stunning painting by Wanda, hanging above the fireplace. The painting is a reflection of her creative soul and a way to channel her emotions and thoughts. The built-in bookshelves are a treasure trove of knowledge, holding a vast collection of books for all ages. The shelves are also adorned with a few carefully chosen plants, each in its own decorative pot, adding a touch of nature to the room. The cozy atmosphere of the family room is perfect for relaxing and spending time with loved ones.
As you step into the kitchen, a beautifully arched doorway frames the entrance, inviting you in. This is Wanda's favorite room in the house, and it's easy to see why. The spacious area is furnished with sleek granite countertops and a convenient center island, making it the perfect place for her sons to sit and share stories of their day at school. As you take a deep breath, the delightful scent of Paprikash or homemade pies fills the air, reminding every guest that Wanda's favorite way to show love is through her cooking.
Through the off-white French doors, one could step into a tranquil and inviting backyard that was meticulously cared for by Wanda. Her passion for gardening was evident in the way she had transformed the space into a lush oasis of greenery. The fragrant air was filled with the aroma of the citrus trees that she had lovingly transplanted, and the raised bed, bursting with a variety of colorful seedlings that had sprouted on the kitchen windowsill, was a testament to her dedication towards creating a verdant sanctuary for her family to relax and enjoy together.
*^~^*
"Boys, it's time for cake and presents!" Wanda shouted through the window.
"Coming, Mom!" Tommy shouted in response.
Wanda organized a cozy and warm birthday bash for Billy and Tommy, and had cordially invited the team and their families to join in on the celebration. It was the first time they were having a group gathering outside of work since Wanda's return to the team. While the adults chit-chatted and caught up with each other in the cozy family room, the youngsters were having a blast playing games in the backyard. Cooper, Lila, Morgan, and Nate were among the kids who were enjoying themselves with Billy and Tommy.
Let's go," Clint exclaimed, clapping his hands. "Bring on the cake!
“Relax, it’s not your birthday.” Yelena teased.
Steve and Bucky, with their arms full of colorful gift-wrapped presents, walked over to the elegantly set dining room table, while Wanda gracefully lit the candles on the birthday cake, which was decorated with blue and green icing. As soon as Wanda finished lighting the candles, the group of friends and family sang "Happy Birthday" in unison, and the twins, Billy and Tommy, eagerly blew out the candles.
After the birthday song ended, Billy and Tommy tore open their presents with excitement, while their mom looked on proudly. The team made sure to honor Wanda's request for no Stark-enhanced gifts. Tommy's gifts included a pair of stylish Nike sneakers, a shiny new scooter, a high-quality baseball glove, and a popular video game that he had been asking for for months. Billy, on the other hand, received a high-tech microscope that he could use to explore the world around him, a remote-controlled drone that could fly up to 100 feet in the air, and a brand new sketchbook with Prismacolor Premier colored pencils, so he could continue to develop his artistic skills.
"Okay, here's one more small gift, but let's not devour it all at once," Wanda cautioned as she placed the personalized candy bags from your shop in front of the boys.
“Candy!”
“Sweet!”
"You can each choose a couple of pieces, and we'll save the rest for later," their mom instructed as the boys rummaged through their bags.
Tommy whirled around the table and embraced his mother. "This is the best birthday ever, thanks, Mom!"
“Yeah Mom, this was awesome!” Billy followed.
"Mmmm, this is good," Tony said, returning from the kitchen where he had raided the bag of candy you made for Wanda.
“Excuse me, that’s not yours!” Wanda scolded.
“I don’t see your name on it.”
“Turn it around.”
“Well,” Tony paused. Calligraphy is a lost art,” tossing her the bag.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought you said.”
*^-^*
Maria and Natasha had decided to stay back with Wanda to help her with the post-party cleanup. As they were putting things away, they noticed red wisps of magic floating gently around the room, lifting empty plates and glasses over to the sink. Wanda had always been careful about using her powers outside of missions, but it was hard to resist the temptation to make things a little easier for herself, especially when her house was full of messy superheroes who weren't particularly good at cleaning up after themselves. As she was putting away dishes, one of them unexpectedly slipped from her grasp and hit the floor, shattering into two pieces.
"Are you okay?" Maria asked as Natasha carefully picked up the broken plate.
“I’m fine, just a bit clumsy.”
“Like mother, like sons,” Natasha teased.
“Oh yeah,” Maria said with a grin. “Nat told me all about your little adventure. She said you were smitten.”
“I was not smitten!”
“You had a goofy grin on your face when you came back to the cafe,” Natasha said, scoffing.
“I was simply being a good Samaritan,” Wanda argued.
Natasha's lips curled into a playful smirk as she spoke, "Oh really? And who were you pretending to be when you purchased those bags of candy for the young lads from Y/N's shop?"
Wanda's eyes widened as she asked, "How did you find out? And more importantly, how do you know her name?"
“Wands, I'm a spy. If one of my friends leaves with a stranger and goes up to their apartment alone, you can bet I’m going to check them out.”
“Well, nothing happened. I got her some ice for her ankle and left, and I didn’t even know it was her shop,” Wanda dismissed. Besides,” Wanda whispered, peering over at her boys asleep on the couch. “Billy and Tommy are just starting to feel at home here. I would never do anything to put that in jeopardy… Not again,” fidgeting quietly with the wedding ring still holding tight to her finger. It had been a year, but she still hadn’t found the strength to take it off.
“We know you wouldn’t,” Maria reassured, placing her arm around her shoulder. “But you are still worthy of the chance to be happy again, honey.”
“Just because you’re starting over doesn’t mean you have to do it alone,” Natasha added. “Is that what Vis would have wanted?”

Fireworks Go Boom
a/n: Just a good ol’ Bucky hurting the reader on accident and she forgives him. Cuz who doesn’t love some dramatics? (I think I need help)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: Reader loves fireworks with all their heart and pulls Bucky along with them to watch them light up the night sky. But what happens when the sudden loud sounds flow through the ex-winter soldier?
Warnings: Angst, PTSD, violence, blood, injury, very slight language, fluff, protective tony
Word count: 1.9k
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
You’ve never known how to explain it. Fireworks were something that you loved with all of your heart. Maybe you loved it so much because it kind of matched you. It’s so quiet while it’s building and rising but once it takes up too much energy it explodes. But the sudden burst of energy is so beautiful and you never know how it will look. What shape will it take? What colors will it have?
You have always rambled on to the team and Bucky about how much you loved fireworks and how you wished you could see them every day. The team usually just laughed at your obsession with powder exploding. What you didn’t see though was the way your boyfriend of a year cringed and tensed every time you mentioned the urge to go see fireworks. Given his past, he and Steve were somewhat sensitive to sudden loud noises and were both diagnosed with PTSD. You only knew vaguely about this diagnosis. Whenever you asked Bucky to talk more about it he would cower away, so you never pushed further.
You and Bucky are huddled together on an armchair while Steve, Wanda, Sam, Bruce, and Peter litter the couches surrounding the flatscreen. It was Parker’s turn for movie night so all of you were stuck watching Star Wars. You sat cuddled on Bucky’s lap drifting to sleep while he ran his hand up and down your back. He stared down at your peaceful face. Your slow breaths go in and out so softly. This is a sight that he will always love and never wants it to end. But when does he ever get what he wants?
Tony strides into the living room. “Hey, Squirt!”
You wake up with a jolt in Bucky’s arms and his grip tightens around your frame. He glares at Tony, angered that he woke you up. You rub your eyes and sit up in Bucky’s lap. “Yeah Tones?”
Tony had been like a big, at times overprotective, brother to you. He was the first one to take you under his wing when you joined the team. He cared for you more than you knew. “There’s gonna be some 4th of July fireworks in a couple of minutes and the roof has a pretty good view. You wanna go?” You gasp in excitement and stand, pulling Bucky up with you. “What! Yes, yes let’s go!”
Bucky doesn’t know what to do. Should he tell her? He looks over to Steve who already has eyes on his worried friend. He makes a hand gesture rising up and down following his deep breaths. He mouths the word, “Breathe.” Bucky nods and takes a deep breath, then another. You turn around on your heels and he plasters a fake smile on his face.
Tony was right, the view from the hangar is beautiful. Almost every star in the sky shines with such clearness. Bucky wraps his left arm around your waist. “Oh, Buck look!” You point to a star shooting across the sky. “Make a wish!” He looks down to see your eyes squinted shut. “I have my wish right here.” Your cheeks heat up with blush as Bucky lifts your chin to peck a kiss on your lips. “You’re such a ladies man.” He chuckles and looks back out to the sky. “Only for you, doll.” You rest your head on his shoulder and wait for the fireworks to start.
Steve quietly comes up behind Bucky and places a pair of earplugs into his hand. Bucky gives a silent grateful nod and places the pieces of foam into his ears. He has no idea if these small things will help him but it’s too late to question it. You point to the tiny line flying up into the sky. Bucky tenses and prepares for the sound. The same word repeats itself in his mind. Breathe, just breathe. He looks down at you. The brightest smile adorns your face. He ruined a lot of things for people, but he won’t ruin this for you.
The first firework bursts into beautiful bright colors. Bucky goes still and his grip around you tightens. Red sparkles shine throughout the sky. The next firework sounds with a boom and his grip tightens even more. A plain white firework glitters in the night sky. You feel the change of pressure around your hip and look up to him. “Hey, are you ok? You’re kind of hurting me, Buck.” His eyes follow the next firework making its way into the sky. They’re filled with fear like he isn’t all there. Boom. Glowing blue shines across each face watching the show. Bucky’s metal arm whirs and grows tighter. You wince. “OUCH BUCKY LET GO!” You try to pry yourself from his grasp but it’s no use. Three trails of smoke rise into the sky.
BOOM.
The sound rumbles through the floor and shakes into his bones. “GET DOWN!”, he yells and tackles you to the floor. The full force of the winter soldier sends your head straight to the hard floor with a loud crack. His body shields you from any potential harm in his mind. “BUCK!” Steve yells and puts a hand on his friend’s shoulder attempting to lift him up but he is met with a swing of vibranium to his stomach. Tony activates a part of his suit just covering his hand, pointing his open palm at the soldier. He turns to Wanda, “Calm him down!” She steps forward and forces her magic into the soldier’s mind sending him to sleep. He falls limp onto your body and a gasp of strained pain leaves your throat. Steve pulls the 260-pound body off of you.
Tony comes to kneel by your side. “Y/N are you okay?” You squeeze your eyes shut. “My head really hurts.” He looks down to examine your head. Blood starts to seep through your hair creating a small puddle. “Shit! Y/N keep your eyes open okay honey?” The pounding in your head starts to grow stronger. A sense of peace starts to drive itself through your body with your eyelids growing heavier. “Tones. I’m tired.” He turns to Bruce. “Meet me in the medbay.” Bruce sprints inside the compound. “C’mon you’re gonna be alright.” He says, picking you up bridal style. The sudden change in movement and elevation brought a burst of darkness to your mind. You were out like a light. Was this what being a firework felt like?
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“When are they going to wake up?”
“You know I can’t tell you for certain Tony.”
“Well give me something! They’ve been out for the past two fucking days!”
Who? You? Oh shit, wake up, wake up. You muster up any energy you possibly can and move your finger. It went unnoticed by some, but one. Bruce spots the small movement from the corner of his eye and stares at your figure.
“Language.”
“Don’t give me that bullshit Cap.”
“Let’s just calm down a bit.”
“Calm down? Calm down! I’ll calm down when you put his ass back in the freezer.”
You feel a gloved hand on your forehead.
“She’s waking up.”
Your eyes open slightly to a blinding light and squint. Your hand comes up to shield your eyes.
“Bruce, turn down the lights.”
The brightness dims and your eyes open, adjusting your sight to the room, Steve hovers next to the door while Tony and Bruce stand at your bedside. A dull thumping in your head grows stronger. You bring a hand up to hold your head but feel something wrapped around it. Steve slips out of the room as Bruce checks your IV. “How are you feeling Y/N?” You can’t muster out a response. The room feels like it’s pulsing and spinning. You know what you want to say but why can’t the words come out? You open your mouth to speak but a breathy groan comes out instead. Tony leans down and brushes the hair out of your face and kisses the crown of your head. “Take your time sweetie.” You take a minute to yourself and take a few deep breaths. “I feel like I got hit by a bus.” They both chuckle. “Well, you could say that. It turns out you have a little skull fracture.” You turn with wide eyes to Bruce. “You’ll be fine, nothing too serious. You just need lots and lots of rest.”
You start to remember the incident that put you in this bright room. “Where’s Bucky? Is he okay? What happened to him?” Tony tilts his head in annoyance. A knock from the door makes all heads turn. Steve stands, leaning against the frame. “He wants to see her.” Tony makes his way across the room to stand face-to-face with him. “If you think I’m gonna let him near her ever again you’re sure fucked in the head, Rogers.” From the far corner of the room you mumble. “Don’t curse in front of Steve.” Tony turns to look at you, seeing your pleading eyes is something he could never refuse. “Tony please, you know he didn’t mean it.”
He walks over to your bedside, “Fine, but the second he does something I swear-”
“I’ll be fine.”
He leans down to kiss her forehead. “Okay,” he whispers.
Steve and Tony walk out of the room leaving you with Bruce. He picks up a tablet connected to your monitor and holds it up. “I’ll keep an eye on you.” You smile, “Thanks, Bruce.” He quickly nods with a smile and leaves the room.
After a couple of seconds, Bucky comes around the corner and sees your weary body on the hospital bed with a bandage wrapped around your head. He rushes and kneels beside you and brings your hand to his lips. You can feel the hot tears streaming down your knuckles. He rests his forehead on your hand. “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry,” he mumbles over and over again like a prayer. You move your hand to cup his face. He leans closer into your touch. “It’s not your fault Bucky and you know that.” He stands and runs his left hand through his hair. “Don’t say that! How is this not my fault? I hurt you!”
You sigh and push your head further into the pillow holding you up. He takes a seat on the bed and pulls your legs into his lap. “I’m going to be better, I’m going to start seeing Dr. Raynor again, I’ll figure out how to be normal.” You look into his eyes. How could he think this was his fault? “Buck, I’m glad that you want to better yourself but don’t let me be the cause of that.”
He massages your leg, letting any tension that was once held there disappear. “You will be the cause for anything and everything I do, and I promise you, I will never hurt you again. I love you too much to see you in pain, and knowing that I’m the one that caused it…” He takes a shaky breath. “I can’t live with myself like that.” You pat the spot next to you. He lays by your side draping an arm over you. “This was just an accident. Don’t get yourself so worked up over this. What you lived before still has an effect on you now and that’s not unexpected. I knew what I signed up for when we started seeing each other, but my love for you will always let me see you as you truly are. The kindest person I’ve ever met and someone that will go to the ends of the earth to do the right thing for the people he loves.” He pulls you in closer and places a kiss on the back of your head. “I don’t deserve you.”
“We deserve each other.”

We were never friends
Tumblr media
main masterlist
Summary:  you confess your feelings only to be rejected  (friends to enemies)
Word count: 897
Pairings: Choose your avenger x fem!reader
Warning: swearing, mean Avenger, insecurities..tell me if i missed any
A/N:  I love angst but never able to write it since I love all the characters too much to allow them to hurt me.....I came up with this idea and couldn’t decide on who could possibly break the readers heart, so I left the Avenger up to who you decide....it’s a little odd, I know
Tumblr media
You had just walked in and about to start your shift when Jenna come running up to you.
“Don’t shoot the messenger, but I just sat the Asshole Avenger in your section, per their request”  She looked like she felt guilty, and you knew she shouldn’t be, this was your issue and unfortunately a bunch of people got caught in the crossfire.
“Hey, it’s not your fault, don’t feel bad” you shrug your shoulders before herding out of the kitchen “here goes nothing” you mumble as you make your way over to your former friend / crush.
The two of you hadn’t had a civil conversation since you confessed your feelings and were harshly rejected.  Not seeing a point to continue any sort of friendship since you apparently didn’t mean as much to them as they did to you.
Approaching the table you took a deep breath, ”hi I’m Y/N, would you like to hear today’s specials?”  trying your best to remain professional.
They automatically scoff at you, and shake their head, “yeah, I know who you are.”
You roll your eyes at the audacity of the situation, as if you are the one interrupting their day.  “So do you know what you would like to order?” smiling and trying not to show any emotion to them.
“No, I don’t want to order anything, I came here to talk to you since you aren’t returning my calls”  they seemed frustrated now and you could honestly not care less.
“I think you said everything you needed to say a few weeks ago.  I’m not good enough for you, I get it, you don't need to keep repeating it to me”   Your nose was flaring at this point, but you were doing your best to keep your voice down.
“That’s not, what I came here to say” they looked at you then as if they could crack at any moment, but you weren’t about to feel sorry for them or pity the pain they were now experiencing.
“Really?  Because you were the one who let me know, more than once, that I’m not good enough, so now you have something new?  Did you find another flaw that you forgot to point out before?” At this point you knew you were getting louder, but you really didn’t care.
Maybe the rest of the world saw the Avengers as the world's mightiest heroes, but you knew they were damaged just like the rest of humanity.
“That’s not fair, we were friends, and you threw that away because I didn’t return your feelings.  Don’t lay your issues on me” by now, half of the restaurant was listening to your conversation, but you ignored that fact.
“Friends?  We were never friends.  You know why?  A friend wouldn’t point out that I don’t look like a supermodel, or not educated enough, or come from an impoverished upbringing.  A true friend would respect me enough to be honest about their feelings not being reciprocated without making me feel like garbage” you are glaring at them, hoping for an apology.
“So now I’m not a friend because I was too honest with you?  I’m an Avenger, I have an image to maintain, and I’m sorry you don’t fit into that, but that shouldn’t change our friendship”
All of your hopes for an apology went out the window, so you decided to take the gloves off.
“Why would you want to remain friends with someone that doesn’t fit into your perfect little bubble?  Huh? Imagine being caught by the paparazzi with a friend that looks like me? What would happen to your precious reputation?”  breathing heavy after your rant, you looked at them fully  for the first time in a long time.
“It’s funny how you don’t want to be with me, and yet you are the one who keeps coming back to me.  Bringing back those reminders, I’m curious now if you are trying to convince me or yourself…”  you notice a look on their face change to regret, you could almost laugh at the fact you finally figured it all out.
“That’s it isn’t it?  You know what we had was more than friendship, but I don’t fit with what’s expected of you.  So, did you think that breaking my heart would make it easier for me or you?”
They now had unshed tears in their eyes, but you couldn’t give a damn, it didn’t change the way they treated you.
“Well, this was an interesting little therapy session we had, but I have work to do, some of us don’t have billionaire money to support them” you walked away into the kitchen as quickly as you could, trying your best to keep from crying.
Before you could even take a full breath, your manager, Todd came over and pulled you into a hug.  “It’s ok, I got ya” he mumbled into your hair as you let out all the emotions that were swarming inside of you.
“I’m taking your tables, go home and we can talk about all this tomorrow” he told you without leaving any room for discussion.  You could only respond with thank you before grabbing your bag and heading to the subway, hoping to get away from the mess you just went through.
