really everyone should be thanking loki... not only did he botch the invasion of Midgard to warn them of future alien invaders he also stalled thanos’s plans by like four years singlehandedly as well as provided a decent excuse for Asgard to come fetch the tesseract from shield/hydra’s evil weapon production and speed up the Bifrost rebuilding so it wouldn't take thirty years by which time there would've been nothing of the other realms left for Asgard to stabilise

Featheruary Part 7
Don’t forget to black list ‘long post’ if you don’t want to see my long posts! This is short enough I’m not putting it under a cut. You can find part 1 here, part 2 here, part 3 here,  part 4 here, part 5 here, and part 6 here.
--
Bucky sent him a message asking to groom him the next evening, and Tony checked with JARVIS to make sure Pepper wouldn’t come storming in and murder him before agreeing to it.
Then Tony spent the next thirty hours absolutely fucking useless. He felt jittery, like he’d had one too many cups of coffee. His hands shook with nerves whenever he tried to do anything in the workshop, and the thought of food or drink made him nauseous. What if something went wrong, like when he’d been grooming Bucky? What if Bucky decided he didn’t like it? There was a reason he had other people groom him, after all. Tony was prepared for a shoddy job because of Bucky’s metal hand, but would Bucky get so frustrated he wanted to quit? Maybe he shouldn’t have asked. Maybe Bucky felt pressured. He’d put him on the spot.
He abruptly remembered the kiss Bucky had given him, how rough his voice had been when he’d said he better leave. Tony lifted a trembling hand to his mouth, fingers trailing over his lips. He hadn’t asked Bucky for that. That hadn’t been pressured, or put on the spot. Bucky had left because they needed to talk. If Bucky didn’t like grooming him, they could… they could just talk. Tony loved talking. Not about anything substantial, but. But he’d talk about anything if it meant the chance of having Bucky. That wasn’t weird. Was it? Was it too much? Was he putting too much weight on this again, like he had when he’d been grooming Bucky?
No. That had been—he’d overthought. Like he was overthinking now. He just needed to… stop thinking. It was fine. Everything was fine. It was going to be fine.
“JARVIS, tell Thor I’ll meet him in the AH,” Steve yelped as he came rushing out of his room and ran right into Tony.
Tony crumpled to the ground and wondered if this was what it felt like to be hit by a bus. “Ow.” He wanted ‘death by clumsy beefcake’ on his gravestone. He deserved it. He wasn’t sure he would ever get the breath back to say so, though.
“Tony!” Steve gasped, reaching down and grabbing his arms so he could set him on his feet. “Are you okay?!”
“No,” Tony groaned, even as Steve carefully let him go, hands hovering in case he… disintegrated or something. “Steve. Tell me Bucky’s grooming me because he wants to and not because I put him on the spot.”
“Bucky’s grooming you because he wants to and not because you put him on the spot,” Steve repeated immediately, and then blinked, words apparently just registering. “Bucky’s grooming you?”
“Do you just fucking tell me what I want to hear,” Tony spluttered, brows furrowing together to give Steve his special ‘this will have enduring consequences’ scowl.
Steve, to his absolute disgust, did not even look sorry as he said, “Sometimes I’m in a hurry and if I agree with it, it’s just easier.”
“I’ll remember this,” Tony began ominously.
Steve reached out to grab his shoulder and gave him a smile just bordering on sinister. “I’ll tell Thor you need a hug.”
Thor had cracked one of his ribs last time. Tony scowled up at Steve mulishly, then scuffed his foot over the floor in defeat, huffing. “Just… tell me again and mean it.”
“Tony, I am not exaggerating when I say Bucky has been absolutely insufferable about wanting to get his hands on your feathers,” Steve deadpanned. “I’m honestly surprised that he didn’t come crowing in to tell me you’d finally allowed it. Then again, he did punch me in the throat yesterday,” he added, mostly to himself. He crossed his arms and rubbed at his mouth, frowning. “I was still pretty heated about missing out on Bruce’s leftover curry so I wasn’t really in a listening mood.”
“You know, actually, I hate this,” Tony decided, turning on his heel to leave.
Steve reached out to clamp a hand around his shoulder and drag him back. “Not so fast.”
“Fuck,” Tony sighed miserably.
“I’m really happy you and Bucky are… doing whatever you’re doing,” Steve continued, ignoring him, as he forced Tony to turn and face him. “I just—you know he can’t do a completely thorough job, right? With his metal hand?”
“I don’t expect him to do a thorough job,” Tony said, offended. “Grooming isn’t just about getting feathers cleaned and oiled. It’s a social thing too. Even if he does a bad job, he’ll have tried. And! I won’t even get horny when he does it to me!”
“I mean. I sincerely doubt it,” Steve deadpanned.
Tony scowled up at him. “You think I can’t hold back my lustful urges during something important?!”
“Listen, I grew up with that asshole,” Steve began, scowling back at him. He pointed behind him, as if to point back at a certain point in their pasts. “That asshole made it a personality trait, being able to get pretty birds all flustered with a flick of a feather. He did it in front of me once. We were in public.”
“I make him too sad to do that!” Tony said, and only after he said it, did he wonder why he sounded so triumphant. He looked down at his feet, shocked, as he suddenly realized why so many of his friends expressed urges to just lie down after things he said. “Oh my God.”
Steve stared at him for a moment, then clapped his hands on his shoulders. “I feel like you’ve made some sort of personal breakthrough, so I’m not even going to argue. Come on. I’m meeting Thor in the gym. You can watch us beat the shit out of each other to keep your mind off of what’s making you nervous.” He wheeled Tony around to frogmarch him toward the elevator.
“Why do you think I’d want to watch you two punch each other,” Tony began, then gave up under the force of one sardonically raised eyebrow. “I hope you get stuck in the ceiling again.”
“You yelled at me,” Steve spluttered, confused.
“Yeah, but I also got really great pictures to put on Twitter the next time you upset the PR department,” Tony reasoned. “They loved them. Your wings were sticking out around you and you were wriggling around uselessly like an idiot. They can’t wait to use them the next time you make a faux pas to get the public’s attention on something else.”
Steve sighed. He’d known getting off with a light yelling had been too good to be true when it had happened.

Wanda is still new to the avengers and doesn’t know what happened in your past. You sleep in Wanda’s room in an extra bed and the two of you become friends. Absentmindedly you listen to the person in front of you. Some annoying colleague that is going on and on about a something that you would have done wrong. They had been going on for almost ten minutes and by now, you had stopped listening. Your mind drifted off to happy memories. It was something you did quite often. By reliving old memories once in a while, they would become recent in your mind again, which made it easier to go back to them, when you were feeling low. You thought about your younger self on the back of your brother’s bike, your small arms wrapped around his waist, your head pressed against his back. It had been his birthday and he had gotten a new bike. You didn’t like bikes, but when he asked for you to ride along the neighborhood with him, you gave in. Your childhood was filled with a lot of fear, but your brother always seemed to take that away. He was in almost all of your joyful memories. He was your safe place.
Your phone chimed, snapping you back into reality. You excused yourself from the ‘conversation’ and left the room. Once you close the door, you answer your phone.
“I owe you Nat! You saved me!”
“Hey Y/n… What did I save you from?”
“Some colleague, who was being incredibly tedious.”
“Need me to kill anyone?”
“Uhm… No. But what are you calling about?”
“We got new information about your brother and we need your help with it.” You fell silent for a moment at the mention of your brother.
“Oh... What is it?”
“I’m sorry Y/n, I can’t tell you over the phone. You’ll have to come to the compound.”
“Okay… I can do that. I’ll leave tomorrow morning and be there around dinner time?”
“Perfect. See you then.”
After cooking yourself some dinner you went to your room to pack. You dug deep in your closet to find your weekend bag. It had been a while since your last trip. You don’t travel that much. To be honest, you don’t travel at all. Your daily routine leaves just enough time for your daily work-out, some me-time and occasionally a movie. Staying busy avoids overthinking stuff, or well… overthinking more specific things. It took you a while to build up a routine. Have breakfast, work out, drive to the office, do your work, pretend to listen to the gossip from your fellow colleagues during the lunch break. Not that anything about your life is very challenging, but it’s just enough to keep you satisfied and to survive. Every now and then when you have a day off, you go shopping with a friend.
You are quite the cheerful girl. You are spontaneous and kind, people get along with you. You have a few friends, but none really close. The only close friends or family you have, are Nat, Steve, Tony, Clint, Thor and Bruce and you haven’t seen them in the while.
You had to empty your entire closet, but you finally found your white weekend bag with the subtle, pastel flowers pattern. You smile at it. It had been a gift from Nat. You used to have a boring and old grey bag, so she had bought you a new one. After you throw the bag on your bed, you start to fill it with clothes. You had no idea how long you’d be gone, so you packed for five days. Once your bag was fully stuffed you zipped it closed and threw it over your shoulder, making you way back to the living room.
You throw your bag next to the counter and are just about to get yourself some coffee, when the bel rings. You grab your phone and see Natasha standing in front of your door through the camera. Natasha had bought you a doorbell with a camera, to be sure you were as safe as possible when she wasn’t there. Aware of the camera she smiled at you through it. You chuckle at the sight and walk to the door to open it for her. Moments like this remind you of how amazing Natasha is. She had the key to you appartement, but chose not to use it, so she wouldn’t unnecessarily scare you.
“Surpriseee, figured I’d pick you up myself!”
“Hey Nat, come in!”
You take her jacket and hang it on the coat rack.
“How are you doing?”
“Good, actually. Can I get you something to drink?”
“Just coffee, please.”
“Got it.”
You go back to the counter and get yourself and Nat some coffee. You open the fridge and get two pieces of the pie that is left from your graduation ceremony. With two slices of cake and the coffee you go to the living room. You hand Natasha, who has sat down on the couch, her coffee and put the cake on the side table.
“Oehh, is there something to celebrate?”
“Yup… I got a job!”
“Y/n! I am so proud of you. I knew you could do it!” Tears begin to well in Natasha’s eyes and she puts down her coffee to give you a hug. You bury you head in her neck and let out a small sniff. She knew what it meant for you to get your first real job. The small party one of your friends threw had been basic. Everyone had congratulated you, but Natasha was the only one who truly took her time to express her happiness. She was the only one who knew what it meant to you. It had been a long way, a long, long way, but you made it! You did it!
She had been there with Steve when you graduated. She had driven six hours, just because she knew what it would mean to you, having her there. It had been a surprise, she hadn’t told you she was coming, so when you saw her from the stage you had broken down in tears.
You catch up a bit, after which you both go to bed. You turn the sofa into a bed for Natasha so she can sleep on it, but before you rest your eyes, Natasha helps you fill another suitcase with clothing. She laughed at the sight of your single bag and suggested you’d pack another suitcase.
*** After six hours of sleep Natasha wakes you up. You take the time to get out of your bed, you take a shower and put on some make-up. In a pair of light skinny jeans and a lively orange tank top, that complemented you tan, you sit down at the kitchen island. Natasha had made you breakfast and after you finished it, you got in the car. The ride would take about six hours, so before hitting the road, you stopped at the supermarket to get some snacks and drinks for on the way. After three hours you had a pit-stop at the MacDonald’s to get some lunch. You ordered the food via the McDrive and ate it in the car on the parking lot. When the food was finished you hit the road again. You had switched places, meaning Natasha would finish the drive to the compound. Natasha was still sipping from her milkshake in one hand, her other hand on the wheel. You leaned against the door with you head on your arm. You closed your eyes, feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin as you dozed off.
A bump in the road woke you up.
You shot up straight. When you realized there was no danger, you leaned back into you chair, resting you head against the headrest.
“Slept well, princess?” Nat teasingly said.
“Nat!” You stumped her shoulder with your elbow. She grinned, but kept her eyes on the road. A comfortable silence fell and you closed your eyes again, not intending to sleep again though.
“No, but for real. How have you been sleeping?” You knew what she meant. She wanted to know if you still had nightmares. They would still terrorize your nights sometimes. You would wake up sweating and shaking. Wide awake you would sit in the middle of your bed at midnight, tears running down your cheeks.
“Uhm, okay, I guess. Some nights better than others.” She turned her head to look at you, giving you a sweet smile. She laid her hand on your leg, her palm up. You put your hand in hers, giving it a slight squeeze.
“Now we’re talking about sleeping, a few rooms are under renovations, so the rooms are full. You can sleep in Wanda’s room. She has an extra bed on her room.”
“Is she okay with that?”
“I think so.”
“You didn’t ask her!?”
“No, but I’m sure it won’t be a problem.”
“Nat…”
“Just kidding, I told her she would have to share her room with you.”
“And…?”
“She was fine with it.”
*** With your suitcase in your hand, your bag over your shoulder and music in your ears, you enter Wanda’s room. On the right side of the room there’s a king-sized bed with two chairs and a coffee table on the left side of the bed, next to the window that covers the entire back side of the room, providing a view of the trees and water next to the compound. On the left side of the room there is a large wardrobe, a door to the bathroom and in the corner there’s a single bed, parallel to the window. Above the bed there’s a shelf with a plant, some books and a light string. The room wasn’t very decorated, there weren’t many personal items. One wall was painted in a grey tone with a hint of purple and there was a purple bedspread, covering the lower side of Wanda’s bed. On the nightstand was a photo of Wanda, standing next to a boy with white hair. You figured it must be her brother, Natasha had told you about the twins and the tragedy. Apart from the photo and some plants, there was nothing personal in the room.
You walked to the bed you’d be sleeping in and dropped your bags on the floor. You sat down on the bed and with your feet still on the ground you let your back rest on the bed, closing your eyes as you take the time to take in the feeling of home. To be honest you feel more home at the Avengers compound then at your own appartement. After a few minutes you got up from the bed and put on some upbeat music as you start to make the bed.
Singing along to the music cheerfully, you put the duvet in its cover. With both corners of the blanket in your hands you shake the cover over the duvet. With the music in both your ears you didn’t hear someone come in, so when you feel a hand on your shoulder, you are slightly startled. You quickly stop the music and take out your AirPods. You turn around to lay your eyes on a beautiful woman with coper locks flowing over her shoulders.
“You must be Y/n.”
Wanda knew who you were, your name would regularly come up in a conversation. She didn’t know much about you other than your name. You were kind of a mystery to her. She was new to the team and hadn’t personally met you yet. One thing is clear to her, though. No one bothered to mention how gorgeous you were. With a lump in her throat, she looked into your eyes, once you had turned around to face her. The woman that was standing in front of her seemed like a nice, cheerful person. She had a beautiful smile on her face, but there was something in her eyes that showed her happiness hadn’t always been a given. She took her in, her hair up in a high pony tail with curtain bangs accentuating her face, she was wearing an orange tank top, which showed off her tanned skin, on top of light flared jeans and elegant black ankle boots. Jeez, she was beautiful.
“Guilty as charge.” You responded. “It’s my pleasure meeting you…”
Witty too. You reminded her of her brother.
“Wanda.”
“Ah Wanda! Natasha told me so much about you. Nice to finally meet you. Oh, and Natasha said I could sleep here for the time being. Is that okay with you?”
Natasha talked about her? That was a good thing… right? To be honest Wanda was rather intimidated by Natasha. Even though she had been welcomed with open arms into the group, once, you know, she had switched sides, it had been quite hard for her to adjust to the group.
“Yeah, she told me. It’s fine”
“Cool”
“Do you need help with the bed?”
“Oh no, I’m done.”
She noticed the bed was nicely made and saw your weekend bag, half under your bed.
“You can use that dresser if you want, and if you want to hang any of your clothes, you can put them in my closet.”
“Oh thanks!”
“No problem.”
“I was about to start dinner, the rest should be back in an hour.”
“I’ll make sure I’ll be there on time, I wouldn’t want to miss whatever culinary art you intend to make.” You said teasingly.
“Great, I’ll see you in an hour then

For your bday prompt thing: stuckony, Tony has to take care of his partners after they get drunk for the first time in 70+ years.
Also, happy belated bday!!!
Thank you, nonnie! I hope you like this story! It was my first time writing something like this and I had a lot of fun working on it!
As always, everything that I write is on ao3 but I’m not providing the link because tumblr hates links
~
Tony would just like everyone to know that he said the Asgardian mead was a bad idea.
He said it, he did, and tomorrow morning, he’ll get to say I told you so.
Today, however, he has a very handsy Bucky and a very affectionate Steve to deal with, and he’s not sure which one is worse.
Bucky’s hand creeps towards his inner thigh for the fifth time in ten minutes and for the fifth time in ten minutes, Tony firmly removes it, placing it back in Bucky’s lap. “Nope,” he says, ignoring the laughter in Natasha’s eyes as she watches the three of them. “No, we’re not doing that.”
Bucky gives him a very pathetic pout that absolutely does not make Tony melt. “I just wanna touch it a little.”
“And I would like to not wake up with regrets tomorrow morning so hands to yourself.”
“I wouldn’t regret it,” Bucky grumbles, hands starting to wander again.
Tony sighs and firmly holds both of Bucky’s in his, keeping them right where he can see them. “I know you wouldn’t,” he says tiredly. How much mead had Thor given them? It’s been three hours, shouldn’t they be at least starting to sober up? “But I would.”
There’s a low whining sound from his left side. Tony groans and turns to Steve, who lays his head on his shoulder and blinks up at him with those big blue eyes. “You would regret us?” Steve asks sadly, mouth turned down at the corners.
Tony leans forward and drops a quick kiss on Steve’s forehead. “Yep. Drunken consent still isn’t consent even when we’re dating, and even if you both really, really want it, I like my partners to at least remember what we did.”
“I wouldn’t forget you,” Steve murmurs. “I love you.”
The words have been said before but not nearly frequently enough for Tony’s breath to keep from hitching. It still sends a thrill through his body every time he hears it. How could it not? There’d been a long time there when he’d thought he would never have anyone who would love him, and now he has two people.
“I—” he starts to say, but Steve puts a finger on his lips, shushing him.
“I especially love your eyes,” he says dreamily and reaches up to pet them, closing Tony’s eyes as he does.
“I know, babe.” And he does. Steve compliments him on his eyes all the time.
“They’re like dirt.”
Well, that’s a new one. Usually, Tony gets that they’re like whiskey, or when Steve’s in a particularly happy mood, like Bambi. Natasha nearly chokes on her laughter as Tony’s mouth twists.
“Great,” he says dryly. Bucky tugs his hands from Tony’s, who only barely notices. “Thanks, babe. A+ compliment there.”
“Dirt makes things grow,” Steve informs him solemnly.
“That they do,” he agrees, throwing Natasha a dirty look as she continues to snicker. Fuck, where’s the rest of the team when he needs them? How did he miss them all heading off to bed while he was trying to wrangle Steve and Bucky and stop them from drinking the entire contents of the barrel Thor brought back from Asgard?
“So it’s good that your eyes are like dirt.”
“Could be worse,” Natasha says. “He could have said your eyes are like manure.”
Steve’s eyes light up and Tony claps a hand over his mouth to keep him from saying that. He doesn’t think he could stand it. There are a lot of things he’s been compared to in his life, and many of them have been bad, but that would definitely be one of the worst.
“Don’t give him any ideas,” he grumbles and then yelps when Bucky’s hand lands squarely on his dick.
“James!” he hisses, scandalized. He twists in his seat, away from Bucky’s wandering hands, even if that means moving closer to Steve, who promptly latches onto him like a limpet. What is this world coming to that Tony, of all people, is horrified by some light exhibitionism? He thinks about burying his head in his hands and groaning but decides against it. There’s no telling what Bucky would do if Tony took his eyes off of him.
“Okay,” he says abruptly and stands up, dislodging Steve. “You know what? I had high hopes that we’d be able to sober up down here but that’s definitely not going to happen so we’re going to bed.”
“Together?” Bucky asks, waggling his eyebrows. It’s normally a very effective strategy, but tonight he’s too loose to look anything other than ridiculous. Tony bites back a laugh.
No encouragement.
Stand your ground, Stark.
…Even if it’s really tempting.
“Nope,” he says, popping the p. He rocks back on his heels. “You two are going to go to bed and I am going to sleep with Natasha.”
It’s the least she can do for laughing at his misfortune all evening. And besides, it’s not like they haven’t shared a bed before. Most of the team have shared a bed at one point or another. It’s a great way to deal with the nightmares they all have. And Nat’s scary enough that even Bucky won’t dare argue with her, especially once she nods and slides her hand through the crook of his elbow.
“I’d love to have you over tonight,” she says in that sly tone that means she’s rubbing this in Bucky’s face. He sighs. When did his life get so complicated? What did he do in a past life that was so bad he now has to deal with petty spies and assassins with roaming hands?
“Nat, stop teasing Bucky,” he orders. “Bucky, keep your hands to yourself. And Steve, just—” Steve gives him the biggest puppy dog eyes. Tony regrets every single time he’s ever told Steve how effective those are. “Never mind. Bed. You two are going and what you get up to once you’re there is none of my concern.”
“It could be,” Bucky says with another one of those eyebrow wiggles.
“Uh-huh,” Tony says, not impressed. “Darling, you’re so drunk you’re nearly falling over. I’d be surprised if you can even get it up.”
“Oh doll, I can always get it up for you.”
“Charming,” he says flatly.
Steve slides his hand into Tony’s free one, interlacing their fingers and swinging them, happy as a clam. Tony glances over at him and opens his mouth to say something, what he’s not sure. It’s not like this is nearly as much of a problem as Bucky’s leering is; it’s just a little awkward. Before he can say anything, Steve beams at him and lifts their joined hands up so he can press a soft kiss to the back of Tony’s. Tony shuts his mouth again and tries not to blush.
After a moment, he says, “Nat, can you take Bucky upstairs if I’ve got Steve?”
She nods. “Let’s go,  Джеймс.”
Bucky pouts but obediently follows her to the elevator. Once they’re gone, Tony turns to Steve, who promptly wraps him up in a hug. “Were we really that bad tonight?” Steve mumbles, voice muffled by Tony’s hair.
He wants to say yes, wants it to never happen again because tonight was awkward-with-a-capital-A, but he thinks of all the times Rhodey and Pepper have had to wrangle him when he had too much to drink. “Worse things have happened,” he tells him instead and nudges Steve’s jaw up so he can kiss him in that sensitive spot right under his chin.
“Good,” Steve says and finally—finally—he sounds sleepy. “I never want to cause you problems.”
Tony smiles fondly. He knows they don’t. That’s why he finds it impossible to stay mad at them when they do things like this. “Come on, honey. Let’s get you upstairs before you become deadweight.”
“You’d have to get the suit to move me,” Steve says drowsily, stumbling along with Tony as they head for the elevators.
“That’s very true.”
Natasha is already gone by the time he gets Steve into their bedroom, and fortunately, Bucky is already asleep, snoring softly as he lies facedown on the bed. “Small miracles,” Tony mutters, shoving Steve in the direction of the bathroom.
He helps Steve out of his clothes, decides against a shower—they’ve tried sleepy Steve in the shower before and it never turns out well—and eventually gets his teeth brushed. By that point, Steve is all but swaying on his feet so it’s no effort at all to get him tucked into bed beside Bucky, who must know on some subconscious level that it’s Steve next to him because he rolls over and wraps himself around Steve like he’s part octopus.
Tony smiles at the sight of them and pulls his phone out to take a quick picture before he grabs a couple things and then heads down to Nat’s floor. She’s also already in bed by the time he gets there, but she’s leaning up against the headboard, reading a book.
“Thanks,” he says wearily as he drags himself into her bathroom.
“You owe me,” she says simply. “Besides, it was easy once he realized you weren’t there. Just had to promise him you’d be coming up soon.”
“You’re a genius.” He stumbles back out of the bathroom and faceplants on the bed, burying his face into her hip. “Fuck, that was exhausting. Was I ever that bad when you were working for me? No, don’t answer that. I think we all remember that party.”
She laughs and cards her fingers through his hair. “You did well, котенок.” She pauses. “But I still took pictures.”
“…I hate you.”

Cereal
Summary: 5 years after the snap Loki shows up.alive. and eating your cereal.
Paring: Loki x reader
Warnings: some angst, lot of floof, swearing as per usual in my stories
Note: I know this is shorter than my usual ones but its 1:28am ok man im just trying to get it up at this point pfft.
Tumblr media
The noises from your kitchen at 3am alarmed you making you launch from your bed. You grabbed the knife you kept by your bed, loki's knife. After he died thor took a knife off him, the one he tried to use on thanos. Thor brought it back to you. You slowly tiptoed out of your room and down the hallway. Poking your head around the corner you saw a tall man with dark hair. His back was turned to you which was convenient to sneak attack.
You walked slowly before the man turned around with his arms spread out wide. “surprise” he said with a smile. You stumbled back seeing the absolute last person you expected to see. His hair was in messy waves, greasy, and a huge smile on his face. Loki laufeyson.
You blink a few times before slapping yourself. loki looks at you confused and concerned. “what was that-” he stops when you walk up and slap him. “ow.” he says plainly. “shut up that didn't hurt. What the actual fuck loki” you say pushing him. the box of cereal falls from his hands onto the floor. Nothing falls indicating its empty. “You faked your death for 5 years and ate all my cereal?!”
Loki stumbled before hitting the sink counter with his back. He laughed lightly before looking up at you “which are mad at the faking death or eating the cereal?” he asked. “both!” you yell. You sigh closing your eyes and taking deep breaths. you open them looking at loki. you walk up tracing over his face looking for any sign at this being fake or someone else or anything really. “Its really me y/n” loki said putting a hand on your cheek. This is the first time in five years loki is touching you.
tears fall down your face and loki's face softens. He pulls you hugging you and holding you close. you cry into his chest holding him like your life depends on it. Like if you let go hed suddenly be gone and you'd wake up to see it's all a dream. you pull away reluctantly. As much as you loved being near him there were things that needed to be talked about. “loki have you seen thor yet?” you asked. loki gulped and shook his head “I was too afraid too. This is the longest i've been “dead”” Loki said
He was still touching your face and shoulders and playing with your hair. “I'm not sure if you should or not.” you say looking up at loki. His eyes were still beautiful like staring into the tesseract. Seeing every world in his eyes seeing your world. “He's different. When you were gone...he broke. Fell apart. Put all his anger and sadness into killing thanos and when that was over he put it into drinking and eating. He's not the thor you knew and i don't know if seeing you will worsen it or make it better.” you say looking down.
Loki put his hand under your chin slightly tilting it up. you look up at him. Your heart was pounding. You probably looked like a wreck yourself. After loki was gone you and thor got close but when he shoved everyone away you ended up alone. You tried to be with the avengers more but tony had retired, banner was gone, valkyrie was busy trying to make thor be king. those who were still in the game you weren't as close to and considering how they felt of loki you felt awkward trying to be their friends.
"I need to see my brother," Loki said seriously. you nod a little. "Ok" is all you say before hugging Loki again. "Still pissed you ate all my cereal" you grumble into his chest. "I'll get you more darling I promise," he said holding you. You look up at him and put your hands on his cheeks. you tilt up and kiss him soft and gentle. It's not hastened just calm and full of love. you pull away grudgingly. "Loki as much as I love this it is 3 am and I need to rest," you say. Loki nods "I understand darling"
  You take his hand and walk to your bedroom. Nothing happens you just lay on him as he holds you and you fall into the best slumber you could hope for. Lokis's death was the most traumatizing thing to happen for you aside from the snap.  You didn't have much of a family, not a sincere one at least.  Your father abandoned you at 5 and your mother was a drunk who barely noticed your presence. Loki became your family. You met him when thor came to earth. He ended up in your house after feeling powerful energy come from there. That was just you which of course at the time you didn't know but you figured out after strange things started to happen. Turns out you were toyed with as a child and your mother had volunteered you for some experiment with infinity stones which created powers. Similar story to wanda's different powers from her.
When you met Loki and he told you his story you related to it and understood him. Though you did beat his ass when he did what he did to new york you also still were there for him when he was locked in the cell. spending day and night by the cell talking about anything. Loki and Thor became your family. When you and Loki became a thing thor said "You will be the redeemer of my brother." He was right. Loki saw how much new york angered you and how frustrated in him you were and decided he needed to change. He matured and became less defiant. Of course, he still hated odinson but let's be honest who doesn't he is a pretty shit father.
Thor became like a brother to you and he would protect you with his life. The next day you awoke and saw Loki awake but just holding you. you smiled at him and he beamed. Yeah, this was your life. You could get used to this. you snuggled into Loki and just enjoyed having Loki back in your presence.

Hot and Cold
Pietro Maximoff X Reader
Summary: After defeating Ultron and getting the chance to formally meet the new avengers trainees, also known as the Maximoff twins, you became quite close to the pair in a short amount of time. Of course Wanda took an immediate liking to you for saving her brother's life, and Pietro took a liking to you for. . . other reasons. Wanda always called you two yin and yang, mostly because even though in many ways you two were total opposites, you were always around one another in some form or another. But your thing with Pietro started about two months into knowing him; you were always cold, and you soon came to realize he was always hot. The solution to this? Cuddling. Both of you expressed that it was completely platonic at the beginning, but as time went on you guys didn’t express this nearly as much. . . as your actions proved more and more romantic.
Warnings: mentions of nightmares & childhood trauma, briefly.
Word Count: 2,002 (my birth year:)
Tumblr media
Same old, same old. You wake up sometime around 3am with a jolt, another nightmare. In the past few months they’d been about the usual topics, your traumatic childhood, losing your powers, and so on. But after a bad mission about 3 weeks ago, the nightmares have been almost purely your subconscious taunting you. Steve gave you hell on the way back, even called you sloppy. You didn’t go to training for a week afterwards because you were so depressed. Tonight’s nightmare involved you losing your powers and ultimately your entire team. The voices ringing out to you, “This is all your fault,” rang over and over until you woke up gasping for air. You sat up, and after catching your breath, you decided there was nothing better to do than get something to drink.
Taking a sip of the cool water only made you shiver more. Why did Tony line the whole kitchen with freezing marble floors? Taking another sip you looked over at the commons area and saw Pietro, shirtless, sitting in front of a fan watching a movie on the couch. It’s nothing you haven’t seen before, and it was something he frequently did when he was too hot. Deciding to surprise him, you carefully walked up behind him on the couch and placed your freezing hands on his bare shoulders. But instead of jumping up and screaming at your touch like you thought he would, he sighed contently and mumbled out:
“Ahh, hello ledyanaya printsessa” (ice princess in Russian)
Although you didn’t speak Russian, you’ve learned a few key words from Pietro and his sister. Like dragâ meant dear, printsessa meant princess, dorogoy meant darling, and of course suka meant bitch. Beyond that if Pietro or Wanda said something you didn’t know, you’d either ask or use context clues to figure out what they were saying.
Although at first you were shocked he didn’t jump at your touch, you smiled to yourself as you used your cold hands to slowly massage Pietro’s broad shoulders; he groaned lowly as you slowly worked out the tension in his shoulders.
“Feels so good, dorogoy. But do you know what would feel even better?”
He questioned, his voice low and raspy, sending a chill down your spine. You only hummed in response, not trusting your voice to push out a solid reply.
“This.”
With one very quick motion he flipped you over from behind the couch and into his arms. His face was just a few inches from yours as he looked down and smiled at seeing a shocked expression on your face.
“What? You didn’t see that coming?” He grinned, his accent rich and thick as he said his now infamous line. Initially he just said it because it pissed Clint off, but soon it became his “catchphrase”.
But you didn’t respond, you just looked into his bright blue eyes. You felt your heart beating so hard, almost sure he could feel it too. You know what you wanted to do but didn’t know if you had the courage to do it.
Silently, Pietro gently brushed a hair out of your face and tucked it behind your ear, and kept his rested hand on the side of your face. His eyes flicking from your eyes to your lips, you licked them to draw more attention to them and to see if he would do the same. But he one upped you and moved his face impossibly closer to yours, your lips now mere centimeters apart as his hot breath fanned over your face.
“Dragâ, have I ever told you how beautiful you are?” He inquired, his voice now a hushed whisper. You only shook your head a small yes in response.
He shook his head slightly and sighed. “Well have I ever... shown you?” He asked, gently caressing your face.
Your eyebrows stitched together in confusion. “Pietro what do you—“ but the words died in your throat as Pietro pressed his soft lips to yours in a tender kiss. Pulling away after a few seconds waiting for your reaction. You only opened your eyes and grinned as wide as the sun and placed your lips back onto his, more passionately this time.
For the rest of the night, kisses were shared almost everywhere. Pietro went the extra mile, and as he was giving you slow and soft kisses on your neck he said, “I should’ve *kiss* done that *kiss* sooner *kiss* ...no?” You giggled and turned his face towards yours and with your lips practically touching his.“Way sooner.” you said with a bright smile as you kissed him as you both slowly started to drift to sleep, not particularly caring or realizing the team would see you in the morning.
---
Later that day around 9 in the morning, F.R.I.D.A.Y awoke Tony with a message. “Good morning Mr. Stark, you owe Captain Rogers twenty dollars.” He tiredly laughed and said smugly, “oh do I? And why’s that F.R.I.D.A.Y?” “Because of the agreement made on March 6th, about 37 days ago,” and then F.R.I.D.A.Y played an audio of Steve and Tony talking about you and Pietro:
“Tony, you can’t tell me you don’t see the way those two kids look at each other.”
“Sorry Cap, I think they’re strictly businesses with each other.”
“Have you ever even seen the security camera records of them cuddling together late at night?” Steve asked.
“Okay now you’re pulling my leg old man.” Tony laughed.
“I’ll bet you $20 they’ll end up together within the next 90 days. If I’m wrong, I’ll pay you $40.”
“You’ve got a deal Rodgers... but you do know that’s just pocket change for me right?”
And with that, the audio clip F.R.I.D.A.Y was playing ended;Tony never rushed out of bed faster. He ran down to the main commons area where Nat, Clint, Wanda, and Steve were already gathered; they shushed him as he neared by. Clint and Nat already had their phones out taking pictures of the pair, who Tony looked at and sure enough, they were fast asleep cuddled in each other’s arms. He sighed as Steve nudged him and held out his hand. “So where’s that $20 you told me I’d never see?” Tony rolled his eyes and told Steve he’d be making a trip to the bank.
After a few more minutes of somewhat creepily watching the pair sleep Tony broke the silence and asked, “Okay, do we have enough pictures to blackmail them if needed? Because if so I’m waking them up.” Clint and Nat nodded and slowly stepped away. They assumed Tony would start blasting music or something to that effect. But instead he stood in front of you and Pietro and made sure to take pictures of you two with the flash ON... to wake you up in the most embarrassing way possible of course.
You were the first to notice the bright flashes of light in your face and groaned softly, thinking it was the sun and the first thing in the morning You turned your head over and called out to your cuddle buddy.
“Pietro... I think it’s morning.” He started to rub small circles on the small of your back as he slowly opened his eyes to see a gleeful Tony Stark with his phone camera inches from his face. He quickly looked around and saw the other avengers and even his sister.
“Sukas!!“ he shouted as he put his power to good use and in the blink of an eye, he picked you up and carried you to your room. Only then did you fully open your eyes to see Pietro holding you in his arms, a little breathless.
“What happened?” You asked tiredly.
“We slept in and well... the avengers caught us,” he said dreadfully, his voice still tired and thick with his accent you adored so much.
“Well at least we have nothing to hide from them now, right?” You tried to put a happy spin on the situation.
“They got pictures of us cuddling, dragâ.“
Your eyes blew open as you jumped down from Pietro’s arms and ran back down to the main commons area where now most of the facility was gathered and you guessed it... sharing pictures to one another.
“Whoever has ANY pictures of Pietro and I is to immediately delete them or face the consequences,” you said gleefully, but your words with true intentions. Only no one really took you seriously. In fact, Thor let out a small laugh and said, “What could a hero still in training do if we do keep such pictures?” A few others laughed along with him.
“No no I guess you’re right Thor, I’m only capable of doing things like this,” you said, catching him off guard and giving him a swift kick to the torso, knocking him over. You flipped him over and pinned his hands behind his back. Even Tony and Steve backed away, not thinking you had the power to pin down a literal GOD just quite yet.
“So, does anyone still have any pictures of us on their phones?” You said with a dangerous smile, thinking no one would doubt you now. But Clint was cocky and told you, “the only way you’re getting these pictures off of my phone is from my cold dead hands sweetheart” as he waved his phone in front of you. But before you could jump at him, a flash of blue light came flashing by and was now holding you back as you struggled to go after Clint for his comment.
Pietro whispered in your ear “he isn’t worth it darling,” slowly calming you down in the process. Eventually you stopped fighting Pietro’s grip on you and the urge to kick Clint in the face and turned away from the rest of the team to hug your new boyfriend. You and he started to slowly walk away from the team, but not without saying to Clint, “only I can call her sweetheart, Capeesh? Otherwise I’ll run circles around you while she does more than take those pictures off your phone, old man.”
The group let out a collective “ooohhh” as the two of you headed off back to your room. Tony broke the silence by saying, “so is no one going to mention that she just pinned Thor down like one of the test dummies?” But Thor only scoffed and claimed that you had caught him off guard, which everyone knew was a load of bullshit.
Back in your room, you and Pietro went back to cuddling and just talked about your feelings and what this all meant. But truth be told the whole conversation was mostly soft kisses amongst other things. For the first time in a very long time, you finally felt content, happy, and most of all, loved.
Hi everyone!! this is my first imagine of 2021 ahhh!! it’s only put out a day after when I posted my first imagine in 2020. Anyways I’m hoping this post will do well as I’ve never written for this character before... and he's not that popular since he's a little... dead. But we don't talk about that :) Since WandaVision has come out and *spoiler alert* Pietro has returned... somewhat, I’ve realized my appreciation for Age of Ultron Pietro... and fallen heads over heels for the dead man. I’ve rewatched Avengers: Age of Ultron three times in a row for the past three nights now, so it’s safe to say I’m a little mentally unstable. Okay now we’ve dived deeper than any of you care to hear. Anyways I hope you all enjoyed this imagine and constructive criticism and feedback is always welcomed!!
Much Love,
—Skyler

warnings: angst and swearing
summary: here
-
“in order to take the stone, you must lose that which you love.”
it feels like your stomach just dropped all the way down the cliff you’re standing on. peter grips your arm, pulling you away from the cloaked man. you know what you have to do.
your dad sent you and peter to vormir to get the soul stone. they’d both been to space once before this, and it didn’t end well. they were lucky to survive. most of the universe didn’t. now you have the chance to fight for the same thing they did. the other avengers needed all the help they could get to pull this off, so here you are.
you’ll hopefully be able to bring everyone back. you just didn’t realize you’d have to die for them to live.
“he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, y/n. don’t listen to him.” peter rubs up and down your arm to calm you down, squinting his eyes at the man. you give him a halfhearted smile. all the words are stuck in your throat. you know he’s right, that one of you has to go. you’re not going to let it be peter.
you turn to face him with the same sad look. he shakes his head a bunch of times before you can say anything. “it’s true, peter. you know how nebula said gamora was here and never came back? he must have had to sacrifice her.” “no. no way. she... she could’ve gone somewhere else after-“
you cup both of peter’s cheeks, willing him to look at you. he puts his hands on top of yours and meets your eyes. nodding, you smooth your thumb across his skin gently.
“peter...” your voice breaks. you wanted to be strong for him, but it’s all hitting you at once. this is the last time you’ll see him. this is the last time you’ll see anyone.
“there’s gotta be another way, right? we’ll figure it out. you’re so smart. i know you can think of something.” he’s in denial. “no, peter. i can’t. i’m not my dad.” you let out a teary laugh, sniffling a bit. peter pulls you into his chest and holds you tightly against him. your arms hug his middle after a few seconds.
this is it. your final goodbye. you’ve been with peter for years, seen each other at your worst moments. nothing compares to what you’re going through right now. it’s never been so hard to let him go.
he presses his lips to your hair, which only makes you cry more. you’re finally able to pull away from his chest and crash your lips into his one last time. hands grasping at your waist, he kisses you back with tears running down his own cheeks. it’s messy and salty and heartbreaking, but it’s you guys. you wipe at the tear stains on peter’s suit and give him one more peck on his cheek.
“i love you the most, y/n. you know that, right? i’m so fucking in love with you,” peter chokes out, pressing his forehead against yours. you take a shaky breath and put your hands on his cheeks again. “i know, pete. i love you so much. so, so much.” you stay like that until both of you silently agree it’s time.
“now that you’ve said your goodbyes,” the red skull chimes in, “which one of you is it going to be?”
“me,” you and peter both say at the same time. huh? he looks at you with wide eyes. you’re just as confused as he is for once. “y/n, what? i thought we both decided it was gonna be me.” “no, that’s what i thought. you’re not doing this.”
the red skull sighs impatiently from behind you.
“please, y/n. i made a promise to your dad that i’d keep you safe out here. i can’t break that.” “i promised myself i wouldn’t let you die.” you give him a stern look. “maybe this is me dealing with some self-sacrificial stark shit right now, but i can’t break that either.”
ignoring everything you just said, peter moves to put his mask back on. you take it out of his hand. “uh, what the hell?” “peter, you‘re gonna do amazing things. you already do now. i can’t imagine what you’ll accomplish in ten years, or even one. you‘re not going yet.” he squeezes his eyes shut. “stop that. you will, too. just give me my mask back, y/n.”
you throw your hands up in disbelief, still holding it. “being rich isn’t amazing, peter! you have more going for you than i do. admit it.” he can’t help but frown at what you’re saying. this shouldn’t be your last memory together.
“baby, what are you talking about? you got to join the team, you make awesome high-tech stuff, you’re a genius. come on.” “here’s your mask.” you shove it into his hand, letting your touch linger for a moment. “i really do love you more than anything.” you suddenly make a run for the edge of the cliff before peter anticipates it.
he moves fast and shoots a web to pull you back, rushing over to you. “oh my god, y/n! what are you thinking?” “i’m thinking you need to get the stone. don’t worry about me.” you get yourself back up, only for peter to push you down again. so, he wants to fight you for this.
you knee his stomach from the ground so he falls over, taking the opportunity to jump for real. peter manages to lean over and shoot a taser web at you before you go too far. that one stings. you yelp and hold your arm where he got you, but you’re not giving up that easy.
“sorry, babe. didn’t mean to hurt you,” peter calls out, getting back on his feet. you walk the short distance over to him. “i’m doing this because i love you, okay? that’s all.” he whispers to you. with a fake smile, you take his hand. peter thinks that means you’re done. then, you use it to flip him onto his back. he groans in pain, not trying to get up this time.
now that he’s out for good, it’s really happening. you’re at peace with what you have to do. you take one final look at peter and start running. you run until you get to the edge of the cliff. peter must’ve realized what’s going on because you hear him calling your name. you forgot how much endurance he has in him.
“y/n, y/n stop!” he yells, already behind you. you stay put. “it shouldn’t be you! listen to me, it’s not too late to change your mind.” you don’t bother turning around to see him. you’ll give in if you do. “remember what i said, pete. all of it.”
with that, your heart beating hard in your ears, you throw yourself off the edge of the cliff. peter uses everything in him to web you to the side, but he can only get one out, so you grab onto a rock. not because you changed your mind. because you owe him a real final goodbye.
“wh- how am i out? i’ll come get you, just- fuck.” peter leans over the edge, looking down at you with watery eyes. you hold up his extra web cartridge and smile sadly. you took it when you were hugging earlier since you had a feeling he’d try to stop you.
“it’s okay, peter. you’ll be okay.” “y/n-“ you let go of the rock and fall fast, hitting the ground while peter cries out. “no!” he grips at the crumbling ground where you first jumped. your lifeless body is staring up at him. he could’ve stopped this. he drops to his knees as a loud sob racks through him, still looking down at you.
“no,” his voice is quiet, small, out of energy and broken. there’s no one here to dry his tears anymore.
-
peter isn’t sure how it happened, but he wakes up underwater. he pulls his head up with a cough. his eyes still feel puffy, so he couldn’t have been out too long. there’s something glowing in his hand. slowly, he opens his shaking hand and immediately recognizes what it is. the soul stone. red skull was right. peter lost who he loves all for a stupid fucking stone.
-
the whole team arrives back at the avengers facility at the same time, like bruce said they would. everyone seems so happy. thor got mjölnir back, scott is buzzing over steve, tony is laughing at one of nat’s jokes. tony. how is peter supposed to tell him what happened? his kid died, and it’s peter’s fault. he bursts into tears again at the thought of it. he’s surprised he even has more left in him.
tony is the first to notice. “parker, what’s wrong? why isn’t y/n with you?” the rest of the team rushes over to him. peter chokes out a sob, everything replaying in his head.
“she- she.” he can hardly breathe let alone speak. tony puts a hand on his shoulder. “kid, you’re scaring me. i can’t fix it unless you tell me what‘s up.” he waves for everyone else to back up so peter has space. bruce and nat share a look. “she’s gone, mr. stark! she’s not here. i re- i really messed up.”
peter throws the stone that he’s been holding at the floor. silently, rocket picks it up.
somehow understanding what he means, tony pulls peter in for a hug. he hurts like hell too, but this kid needs him right now. peter has always had a habit of blaming himself for things he can’t control. tony is pretty sure this is one of those things. he hugs him back as tight as he can.
“i’m so sorry, mr. stark. i’m so sorry.”
-
five years later and peter is numb. another stark left him, and he sort of gave up in life. at 21 years old. without a mentor, he got lost in the superhero world. spider-man went from being an avenger to party entertainment for kids. it’s an easy way to make money. the people loved him before, they’ll love him again. all he does now is book birthday parties and drink the nights away.
the only emotion peter still feels is anger. he hates the world and he hates what he’s done, or hasn’t done. every time he puts on that mask, it reminds him of the night you died. he has to fight the urge to rip it to shreds. if he didn’t need to pay the bills, he would’ve at this point. most of all, he resents himself for letting you down.
you sacrificed yourself for peter to lead a full life, and look what he’s done with it. he’s a drunk loser. that’s not what you wanted for him.
one day, it all changes.
there’s a knock at peter’s door. he grumbles something about paying his rent, expecting it to be his landlord. he opens it to find you instead. thinking he’s had too much to drink, he shuts the door in your face. you‘re a little bit shocked, but you knock again.
“um, peter? that’s you in there, right? pretty sure you’re the only peter parker in queens.” you call from the hallway. “whoever’s trying to fuck with me, just get out of here. i’m not in the mood today.” he flops back down on his couch, taking a sip of his nearly finished beer. you’re already fed up, so you open the door yourself.
“i said-“ he shuts up when you sit down next to him. “are you real? you can’t be... you died years ago.” “peter.” you take his hands. he’s confused, but lets you. it’s weird seeing him, both of you being adults now. you’ll have to get used to it.
“when you brought everyone back, it worked for me too.” he stares at you with his mouth hanging open for a minute. “that’s not possible. we did that a few days after you... you know.” “i know it sounds insane, but i came back on vormir. i had to find a way back to earth, which took a really long time. i’ve been looking for you since then. there’s no perfect way for me to explain all of this, but i promise it’s really me.”
you being here, it’s like peter was in a five year trance and he snapped out of it.
he throws his arms around you, you laughing and threading your fingers through his matted curls. he’s convinced you’ll disappear again if he lets you go, so he holds you even tighter.
“y/n, baby. oh my god. i missed you so much. i’m sorry it’s such a mess here.” you wind your arms around his neck. “you haven’t changed a bit, pete.” “i brought you back, you brought me back.”

Of Numbers and Strange Friendships
TITLE: Of Numbers and Strange Friendships CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: 74/?
AUTHOR: nekoamamori ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki being friends with Peter Parker RATING: T
NOTES/WARNINGS: None so far.  Also on AO3 here
Loki didn’t usually drink, at least not on Asgard where he could get drunk.  Unlike Midgardian alcohol, Asgardian alcohol actually worked on him.  It was usually dangerous for mages to drink.
Uncontrolled magic tended to blow up, as Loki and Thor had found out the hard way in their teen years when they’d decided to get drunk.  During that evening, Loki and Thor had snuck into Odin’s private office to steal his best alcohol, the strong stuff he kept for foreign dignitaries.  They’d met up with Lady Sif and the morons three in an empty section of the palace so they entire group could find out what was so great about being drunk.  They’d taken to their task with relish, laughing at the ridiculous faces they each made as they took shots of the strong liquor.  None of them realized how drunk they were until the alcohol hit all at once.  They hadn’t realized that alcohol affected mages until it was too late.  Loki’s powers had gone out of control and his magic was swirling around him.  Moments later the wing of the palace they were in had exploded.
They were all grounded until the repairs were completed and Loki had been blamed for the incident.
It was the first time any of them had gotten that drunk.  Loki couldn’t remember having been that drunk again until the night of the feast in his mama’s honor of her coronation as sole ruler of Asgard.
He had learned how to control his magic much better when he was drunk, though it was still a terrible idea to mix magic and alcohol and he did so very rarely.
He also realized far too late that getting this drunk was a terrible idea.  That knowledge came to him at the unfortunate moment of him still being drunk when their group all stepped off the Bifrost at the Avenger’s Tower.
Being slightly unsteady as he stepped out of the Bifrost wouldn’t have been a big deal on its own.  He would have just gone up to his room to sleep it off.  Even with the rest of the team being equally drunk around him (besides Peter and Wanda of course.  Even on Asgard, they weren’t of age).
That had been an excellent plan, until Aunt May came running out of the tower.  The part of Loki’s mind that wasn’t completely full of alcohol remembered that she had missed a whole lot of details and last she knew, Peter was dying and being taken to Asgard to be healed.  Or did he tell her that Loki had saved him?  Loki couldn’t remember.  Too much had happened in too short of a period of time.
And then alcohol was added.
Alcohol did not help one’s memory in any way, shape, or form.
“Oh-shit,” Tony slurred.  The mortals had gotten less strong alcohol, but since it was Asgardian alcohol, they were all drunk too.  Still.
“Language~~” even Steve was slurring.
They whole group seemed to sober, though, as Aunt May ran over and hugged Peter as tight as she could.  “Oh god, Peter.  What happened? Are you ok? Tell me what’s going on,” her words were frantic as she held onto him.
Peter returned the hug, his super strength keeping him from toppling over when she hugged him. “I’m alright, Aunt May.  Loki saved me.  Let’s go inside and we’ll tell you everything,” he reassured her with a gentleness and calm the puppy-like teen usuallyy didn’t have the capability to have.  He knew that he needed to treat this situation with Aunt May very, very carefully.  He also knew that there were some truths that he owed it to his Aunt to tell her.  She deserved it with all that she’d done for him over the years.  She didn’t deserve the lies.
This incident had shown him that he wasn’t protecting her by keeping his secrets anymore.  She was in just as much danger, if not more by not knowing who he really was.
She deserved the truth.
Loki saw the teen’s nerves.  He placed a hand on Peter’s shoulder. “We’ll tell her together, Arachnid,” he reassured Peter.  His blood brother wouldn’t be alone in this.
Peter nodded his thanks.  Even drunk Loki could be helpful when he felt like it.
But now?
Now it was time for Peter to reveal his secrets.
All of them.

Loki has GOTTA meet Jane and Eric again, and everyone is still a bit iffy with him- except Jane who is SO happy to slap him (again) and thank him for almost dying (and then actually dying) while everyone is like ‘????? The fuck???’ And then she hugs him and Thor and everyone is still ‘???’ But it’s a start :’)

A/N: This was fun to think about, and to write, and I'm glad I have a couple of very similar prompts to explore this idea more. Enjoy~
“When did Thor say he was going to be back?”
Loki shrugged, glancing at you from their spot in the armchair by the window. “He just said he’d be back ‘soon.’ Which for Thor could be anytime from this evening to next week.”
“I suppose it would make sense for Asgardians to have a skewed view on the concept of time. I mean, a couple of years for me is probably like a weekend for you guys.”
Loki huffed out a laugh. “Something like that.”
A comfortable silence descended on the room, and you glanced back at the door, waiting for Thor to come back in. “…you think they’ll really make up?”
“I don’t see why they wouldn’t. I don’t know what drove them apart in the first place.”
“Maybe she didn’t want a snarky little shit like you for a brother-in-law, Reindeer Games,” came Tony’s voice from across the room as he came into the kitchen, a couple of wine glasses in his hand as he searched through the wine rack.
“Hey, be nice. Loki’s done a lot of growing in the past few months,” you countered, always ready to jump to your friend’s defense.
“Grand scheme of things, that’s chump change. Gotta put in the years of work like the rest of us, bud.”
“I’ve got more years of work than you’ve been alive, Stark.”
“Yeah, well. I’ll believe it when I see it.”
You heaved a sigh, wishing Tony and the rest of the team could see what you saw. “Play nice. The last thing Thor needs is all of us fighting once again when he gets back. Especially if he has company like we’re hoping.”
“Speaking of, any word from him?”
You looked over at the hallway when Steve spoke, managing a tight smile. “None. But I guess we’ve all just gathering here to swarm him when he gets back, at this point.”
“Well, he’s gonna need a drink one way or another, if you ask me.” Nat leaned back against the kitchen island, arms crossed over her chest. “Here’s hoping it’s a celebration.”
As more and more people filed into the room, apparently all waiting to see if Thor came back with his old flame or not, you looked back at Loki, worried they might be feeling out of place, as they usually did when a majority of the team came together.
“Don’t pay them any mind. They’ll come around, in time.”
“I don’t care what they think.” Loki’s response was a rehearsed one, the same one they gave every time, even though you knew that deep down, Loki just wanted to be accepted.
You opened your mouth to speak again, but were cut off by the sound of keys at the door, and everyone looked at each other.
“Okay everybody, act natural.” Tony declared, and everyone hastily, ridiculously, tried to look like they weren’t a mass of a dozen people crowded in one living room, waiting to see if Thor came home alone or not.
By the time the door opened and Jane Foster and Erik Selvig entered, followed immediately by Thor, everyone was looking at them, and you bit back a laugh at their expressions, ranging from confused to embarrassed to, in Thor’s case, slightly defeated, as though he knew he should have expected a welcoming brigade.
“Jane Foster, Erik Selvig, meet… everyone,” he finally said after a moment, sparking what ended up being ten minutes of Thor bouncing between every single Avenger so they could personally introduce themselves to Thor’s friends.
You looked back over at Loki, after a while, confused when you saw they had sunk a little lower in their seat. “…Loki?”
“…we didn’t exactly meet, or part, on the best of terms, last time…”
You had just started to ask when they had met before, and why you’d never heard the story when you were interrupted by a voice calling out.
“Loki?!”
Everyone fell silent, and stopped to look between Jane and Loki, who looked a little regretful that they were now in the spotlight.
“…hi.”
You weren’t sure what you expected to happen next, but it certainly wasn’t Jane crossing the room in one second and then Loki’s head snapping to the side the next, looking just as shocked at everyone else that they had been slapped.
“That’s for dying on Svartalfheim.”
But before Loki could even respond, Jane had thrown her arms around him in a tight hug, surprising everyone even further.
“And that’s for saving me on Svartalfheim.”
You had a lot of questions, and apparently so did everyone else, as you heard them all murmuring questions to each other, but Tony was the first to speak up more loudly.
“I’m sorry, saving you? Loki looked out for someone besides Loki?”
“…Thor didn’t tell you guys?”
You looked at Thor just in time to see him duck his head shamefully. “…I guess it never really came up in conversation.”
You smiled a bit as you watched some of the expressions in the room change from skepticism to consideration that maybe they had pegged Loki incorrectly.
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Loki.” She turned back to look at them, warm smile on her face. “I owe you one.”
“…thanks.” Loki clearly wasn’t sure entirely how to process what had just happened, but they smiled a little once Jane stepped away, and when Erik Selvig approached, you waited to see how this interaction would go.
There was a long moment of awkward silence as the two looked at each other, and then finally, Erik patted Loki on the shoulder, albeit a little awkwardly. “….it’s good to see you.”
Loki nodded once, unwilling to bring up the trauma of the past, and instead let him go on to greet other people as they turned back to you.
“…you have a lot of explaining to do,” you declared, playfully grumpy expression on your face.
“Yeah, I’m with Y/N on this one. Start talking, Reindeer Games.”
Loki heaved a sigh, realizing they weren’t going to be getting out of the conversation as everyone settled in, ready to hear the story.
“…where shall we start…”

Loki Master List
~~~~
You and Nat were standing at one end of the training area as Loki walked in. You glanced up from Nat wrapping your hands and noticed he was wearing his normal traing gear. Plain leather black pants with a dark green Henley, his hands already wrapped.
"Focus, your getting distracted." She said yanking on one of the straps.
"Ow. I cant help it Nat, we went from cant keep our hands away from each other to literally fist fighting each other. Ya know this is normally frowned upon is normal society." You streched your fingers out and balled them back up streching out the gloves a little.
"Hunny, even in a perfect world were anything but normal. I mean for god sakes your fighting a literal god. You remember what I taught you. Right?" She asked looking almost terrified for me.
"Yes mother, I havent forgotten. This is gonna be a piece of cake." Inside you were freaking out. You normally was in a very high spot with your bow or normally trying to break into the computers. You wasnt normally in hand to hand combat, but you were smarter than to think you would never need it.
You turned shaking you head and putting the mouth piece in your mouth. Hitting you fist together jumping back and forth getting ready. Loki just stood there smirking. You was gonna smack that smirk off his face.
"Hey sis, Im not saying you cant beat him just be careful. He throws a nasty left hook." Clint said munching on some chips."Thanks, Hawk. Mind explaining why the rest of the team is here?" You mumbled around the mouth piece.
"Thor, definitely Thor." He said walking back to the small group that gathered.
"Sweetheart. Are we gonna fight or are you just gonna stand there chit chatting?" He called across the mat.
"I'm coming." You walked across the mat to the center. Someone hit a bell signaling for the fight to start and he jumped toward you. You dodged his first attemped and circled him slowly. You could read his every move, read where he was going next.
You took a defence stance that Nat had taught you from your training before he lunged again. This time you managed to upper cut him in the side knocking some of the wind from him.
"Oh you little minx. I figured I would take it easy on you but we can play your way also." This time he took a step back centering himself. Looking up you noticed he had a dangerous look in his eye.
"I didnt invite you here to take it easy on me, I invited you because you dont take anything serious. Because if someone like me can beat you in hand to hand then anyone can." You stepped closer to him gauging what move you was going to make next.
He dropped down to the mat attempting to sweep your legs out from under you, he missed one but caught the other causing you to fall. He jumped on top of you pinning your hands above your head. "Now this positions brings back memories." He whispered to you causing your face to turn bring red. You brought your leg up able to wrap it around his waist and slammed him back down to the mat gaining some advantage.
"This one also." He smirked. You raised your fist above you aiming for his face. Whem you brought it down he moved his head causing you to miss. It felt like forever that you were both on the mat neither one gaining aginst the other. A busted lip here a bloody nose there. When the bell rang for a break Nat was in your corner with Clint offering you some water and a rag ti wipe the blood off.
"Sis, I'm try in real hard not to grab an arrow and stabe him with it." Clint said from one side. You could see anger in his eyes.
"Hawk, its fine. Given the circumstance its all good. Its just training in a matter of speaking. Anger is mostly wunning but I got this. I was trained by the best. I'm not even tired." You took another drink of water before going back out to the mat.
"This is fun. I have never seen my brother trying harder to win anything in his life." Thor shouted across the room. "Lady y/n is quite good at sparing. We must fight sometime." Thor laughed.
A few more rounds when and you could feel the weight of the afternoon but you wasjt about to simply throw in the towel just yet. You knew you could get the best of him. You had thrown him back on the mat then he took his feet placing them on your chest shoving you off of him. Before you knew it you were surrounded by multipuls of him.
"Loki we agreed no sedair! This is cheating!" You yelled at them.
"God of Mischief and lies sweetheart. Besides we're in weird predicaments all the time. You said so yourself. Tell you what. You find the real me and I'll forfeit." One of the clones said. You stood up in the middle of them all focusing everything you had on concentrating, ignoring Clint yelling in the background and the rest of the group shouting.
You opened your eyes zeroing in on one closest to you and walked up to him.
"Are you sure your right about this decision?" It mocked.
"Yeah. I think I am." You brought the ball of yoyr fist up crashing it into Loki's nose. The rest of the clones disappered as he fell to his knees in front of you. "You are a complete and utter asshole Loki Odinson. I hope that it messes with you for a while that you got beat by a mortal." You started unwrapping your gloves as you walked away.
Over the next few weeks you avoided every living space in the tower that you knew he would be in. It had truly hurt you that he had cheated during the fight. You still couldnt understand how just months before you couldn't keep your hands off of each other now you were both avoiding each other like the plague.
"Miss y/n. Team has a mission. Tony wants everyone in the confrence room dressed and ready in 15 minutes." JARVIS called pausing your movie. With a roll of your eyes you walked to your bedroom to start getting ready. Pulling out your tight skinny jeans a black tank top and your zip up hoodie you French braided your hair and grabbed your bow case before heading down.
The rest of the team was gathered when you walked in and placed your case on the table opening it up to make sure everything was right. Streching out the strings and making sure the sights were spot on aiming them to the other side of the room where Loki stood.
"It would be more effecitve if you had an arrow." Clint whispered next to you.
"Shut up, I'm just making sure everything is right." You put it back down in the case and started going over your arrows.
"You realize we have a place you can put that when your not using it." Tony said walking around you.
"Right up your ass if you suggest that again." You laughed putting everything back up.
"Love the enthusiasm kid." Tony laughed walking to the front of the table.
"Ok Team, going to be a long few days for us. Just got some Intel about a caravan carrying some explosives across the Scandinavian border. Gonna have to divide into teams for this one. Hawk, Nat, Strange, Rodgers, Bruce, and Thor you'll be starting at the meeting point and working your way toward us. The rest is with me." Tony pulled a map up on the big screen showing where you wwre going.
"Oh come on, why cant I be with the A team?" You asked with a groan.
"Sorry kid, gotta divide it up right. One god for each, one Archer. Only fair. And even if you two hate each other you guys work good together." Tony shrugged.
"Yeah sorry kid." Clint laughed.
"Hey I'm a full three minutes older that you. Probably explains why I'm better. Whatever. I'll go pack my stuff." You huffed standing up.
The next two hours seems to drag by, it was freezing here. You was just ready to get this over with so that you could go back home and relax in a nice warm bath, you pulled your jacket tighter aginst you.
"I've told you many times that you should start wearing the uniform that they gave you. You'll freeze to death one day." Loki said taking off his cloak and putting it around your shoulders.
"Thanks, but I'm still pissed at you." You hugged it closer. "I hate the whole uniform thing. To tight to revealing."
Another few minutes pass before Tony gives everyone the heads up that your about to be over the caravan. Figuring you were warm enough you took the cloak off and handed it back to him. "You may still be pissed at me but I do still care very deeply for you y/n. I was an idiot for everything." He took it and wrapped it around his shoulders. When his fingers grazed yours there was a surge that went through you.
"Give me time. You really hurt me, not just by breaking up with me but by lying to me during training. Good luck out there God of Mischief."
"Tony, your gonna have to get lower i cant get a clear shot on the driver!" You yelled over the wind whipping around your face. About that time a diffrent arrow shot through gettkng the driver in the side causing the vehicle to completly stop.
"Gotta be faster than that sis. One for me." Clint laughed over the com.
"You are my least favorite person right now Hawk." You mumbled. Tony brought the Quinn Jet down so your team could spread out.
"That is truly saying something my dear." Lokis smooth voice said in your ear.
"You gave me your cloak to keep me warm. Gave you a fell points." You pulled back again and shot it through the truck behind the first hitting the driver in the head. "Got one, Hawk, your next."
"Can we cut the chatter. Got alot going on in the sky at the moment." Tony said. Youbcould here something firing above you looking up you could see Tony being followed by a jet firing at him. "Need some back up guys. Twins. Anyone."
"Hawk. I need a Boom Boom stick." You met him in the middle of the road.
"I really wish you wouldnt call them that." He said handing you one. You both pulled your bows back and aimed. "Heads or tails?"
"I like the tails." You let go of the sting and watched as the jet exploded.
"I think she can call them whatever she wants as long as she keeps doing a good job keeping bogies off my ass." Tony yelled over the coms.
"I hate this. I cant see shit down here." You yelled over to Clint. "I gotta get higher." You looked around eyeballing the turnes over truck. You threw the bow across your back and started climbing up the truck. Shots rang around you one grazing your side, before it had started it was like it stopped looking behind you you noticed Loki with his daggers in his hands.
"You need to pay more attention y/n." He scolded you.
"Why pay attention when I have someone keeping an eye out for me." You smiled.
"Oh darling Im doing more than just keeping an eye out." After everything that ass had done to you he was flirting FLIRTING with you.
"Y/N! No. More. Gods." Clint yelled. From here you could see everything going on. Nat fighting two men, you took one out easily from your spot. She shot you a thumbs up. Bruce had hulked out throwing things everywhere, multiple times you had to dodge something flying your way. The fight was almost over when you glanced behind you noticing four men backing Loki aginst a turned over car.
His hands were up as if in surrender. "Loki why arent you using your sedair?" You mumbled pulling the bow back.
"Well darling you could say that I am in on of those weird predicaments. I've exahusted alot of my power down here." His back was aginst the truck now.
"Could let him get beat up." Clint pipped in as you shot one of your last arrows though two of the guys standing there. You watched Loki easily take out the other two.
"Told you Hawk, I'm not like that." You smiled walking over to Loki. "Although you could use a little practice in hand to hand, dont you agree?"
"Only if your the one practicing with me he smailed down at you.
"Ugh! Y/n! No mo-" Clint started before you pulled the com from your ear.
"Only one God for me." You leaned up kissing Loki on the cheek.
Hurting Each Other - Part 1 - Loki x Reader
"So, any plans for the long weekend coming up?" Your coworker, Frances, asked as you unpacked boxes in the medbay storeroom.
"Oh I got big plans! I plan on getting real cozy with two fellas very near and dear to my heart. And my stomach," You joked. "Ben and Jerry."
"Oh come on, Y/N!" She groaned. "Don't tell me you still haven't worked up the courage to talk to one of them!"
"Frances!" You screeched. "You know I was assigned to this department because healing is the only ability of mine I have full control over and am confident in. You think things would go well if I tried to talk to one of the real heros?" You shook your head sadly and picked up some more bandages to put away. "I'd probably end up blubbering like an idiot and then knocking Captain America in the head with his own shield or something!"
"Now don't lie to me, I know that blond and buff isn't your type. I'd say tall, dark and mischievous, hm?"
"Frances, please stop. I already have half a mind to send half of these syringes flying straight at you."
"Please, I know you wouldn't. Is it really so hard to admit it to your best friend?"
"Fine," You relented. "I have a major crush on-"
"Help!" Someone yelled, bursting through the medbay doors. "Get help! Please!"
"Thor? What's he doing here?" Frances mumbled as you both rushed out of the storeroom.
"Brother, could you bear to be slightly less dramatic?" Loki groaned. He was clutching his side where his cape had been tightly wrapped.
"Thor, put him on the bed," You ordered. Thor nodded and quickly lifted his brother and plopped him down. Loki yelled loudly in what you assumed to be Old Norse and, judging by the look on Thor's face, it wasn't very nice. "Softly," You grumbled. You touched Loki's cape and teleported it off him. You gasped when you saw the deep gash in his side. "What happened?" You asked quickly.
"Well we were fighting them you see," Thor started. "Loki was fighting quite valiantly!"
"A little faster if you please!" Loki hissed.
"Yes of course! There was this one creature. At least 12 feet tall! Long fangs and glowing eyes-"
"Poisoned sword!" Loki yelled. "By father's beard, brother! Have you never learned how to tell a short story?"
"Alright," You said, biting back a chuckle. "Thor, would you mind waiting over there?" You said pointing to a chair a few yards away. You didn't want to ask him to leave but you did need him out of your way. He nodded and sat down. "Frances, some bandages and get me a syringe of antidote 289A." Loki looked at you oddly as you examined the wound in his side. "Actually, make that 289B, Frances."
"How do you know all this?" He asked you.
"Oh, I memorized all the medications for these types of injuries a long time ago. Too many accidental cuts," You admitted.
"Have you always been a nurse?" He asked. You stared at him for a moment, surprised he was actually carrying on a conversation with you.
"Uh, no. I-"
"Here it is," Frances interrupted, handing you what you needed.
"So what's your favorite food?"
"Why ask me that?"
"Oh, just wondering," You replied, discreetly getting the needle ready.
"That's quite an odd thing to ask at a time like-ow!" He exclaimed.
"Gotcha," You smiled. You finished healing the wound and put some bandages on it for good measure while he watched with a smile.
"Well, I must say I'm impressed. To trick the Trickster is no small task. I've seen you around but now you are even more intriguing. May I ask your name, darling?"
"Y/N," You replied, blushing brightly.
"How lovely," He replied. "Perhaps I can take you out for dinner tomorrow as thanks for your assistance today?"
"Uh, I-"
"Y/N!" Frances called out nervously. "I hate to interrupt but, can I get down please?" You looked up quickly and saw that you'd accidentally let your telekinesis go haywire again. Both Frances and Thor were floating midair as well as a handful of other objects around the room.
"Oh no!" You cried, everything instantly falling back to the floor. You were so embarrassed that you teleported yourself away to your room without another word.
"What happened?" Loki asked, back in medbay. Frances shook her head and walked over to him.
"I think it's best you talk to her yourself, ok? She gets nervous in certain situations and that happens. She'll probably get nervous again but anything you should know she needs to tell you herself." Loki nodded and sat up.
"Well then, if you'll excuse me," He said. "I think I know what I have to do."
~ About 3 weeks later ~
"And that is how we started dating. Loki did indeed come to my room to speak with me," You explained, smiling at your boyfriend brightly. "I didn't want to let him in at first, of course. I was afraid I would accidentally launch a book or something at his head."
"A hairdryer," He said, under his breath.
"What was that?" Bucky asked.
"She did get nervous," Loki said with a smirk. "And it was a hairdryer." Most everyone laughed and congratulated the two of you.
"Well, I for one am happy for you both actually," Tony said. "So, as a celebration of your new relationship and the rest of the team's safe return from their extended mission today, I ordered pizza. Now let's eat!"
Everyone got up and headed straight for the pizza boxes on the table. "Loki, can I talk to you for a second?" Hawkeye said, walking up to you both.
"Of course," Loki replied. He gave you a quick kiss on the cheek and followed the archer out to the balcony. You grabbed a drink for yourself and started to make your way to the pizza.
"Y/N, have I told you lately how proud I am of you?" Frances said, suddenly popping up behind you.
"Give a girl some warning!" You exclaimed, nearly dropping your cup.
"Seriously! I'm really proud of you for stepping out a bit!" She said giving you a big hug. "Although it's been pretty lonely in medbay lately!" You rolled your eyes and laughed.
"C'mon, Fran! I know you've got your eye on the one guy down there so you can't be that lonely. I think he likes you too, you know." Your best friend blushed and shook her head.
"So, changing the subject to more relevant matters," She said, wriggling her eyebrows. "How's training been going?"
"Good actually," You sighed. "I'm still kinda nervous but I'm getting better. I've worked out basically all the problems I've had with my teleportation and I've almost got a handle on near-field telekinesis. Long-range is still a struggle but I have to master the rest first. Loki's a great teacher. He doesn't get angry when I cry over not being able to do something or when I accidentally throw him against the wall."
"You've done that?" Frances gasped, almost choking on the pizza. You nodded, quite embarrassed. "Oh my goodness, that is amazing."
"Come again?"
"He must really love you! I'd have thrown you off the tower already."
"Nah, you wouldn't do that," You said.
"Eh, you're right. But I still say he loves you." You both laughed and continued eating. "What's taking him so long? He still out on the balcony with Bird Boy?"
"Probably. And don't let Hawkeye hear you say that! He'll kill you!"
"He's deaf anyway," She replied shrugging. Shaking your head you looked back to the glass doors trying to see what the two were up to.
"Look, Loki," Hawkeye said, closing the sliding glass door behind him. "I wanted to talk to you to make sure you knew what you were getting into."
"If this is about her past, she already told me, Barton," Loki replied cooley.
"I was part of the team that found her in Hydra's facility. If you'd have seen it I think even your stomach would have turned. Hydra had just finished their little experiment on her. They were about to start training, that's why she's not experienced with her powers yet. But the living conditions were revolting. She and the others we found were nothing but skin and bones. She was using her new abilities already though, trying to help the others. She actually saved a couple kids."
"She never mentioned there were others," Loki commented. Clint nodded sadly.
"Yeah, none of us talk about these missions a lot. Hydra was cruel. Trying to turn children practically into machines. She was the oldest there actually. What I'm trying to say is-"
"Look, I'm not going to treat her like some dangerous weapon. She's actually afraid of using her powers for fear of doing harm. That's why I'm training her. So yes, I know what I'm getting into." Loki turned on his heel and went to walk back in.
"That's not what I meant, witch," Clint snapped. Loki whipped back around and glared at him.
"Then explain yourself, Barton," Loki hissed. "And quickly, may I suggest."
"She's a delicate girl. She's not some toy for you to play with. She's fragile. After what she's been through, she can't afford to be hurt by some creature as you."
"What are you trying to tell me, Pigeon?"
"What I'm saying is you shouldn't have started anything with her but since you did you'd better watch it. If you make even one false move I will not hesitate to-" Clint looked up and saw someone coming to the balcony. He quickly put on a better face and shot one last glare at Loki. "You get the idea, now remember it."
Inside, you had had enough. Those two had been out there for forever. And, if you were being honest with yourself, it didn't look so good. "How's it going, boys?" You asked, walking out onto the balcony.
"Just fine, Y/N," Clint replied with a forced smile. "I'm going to head in and get some pizza." He brushed past you and hurried in. Loki seemed distressed about something and wouldn't make eye contact.
"Loki? What's wrong? Did Clint go off on something?" He tensed slightly but shook his head. Pulling you close to his side, he sighed softly.
"No, dear, I'm fine. Let's go enjoy the celebration, hm?" You nodded and he kissed your forehead, taking your hand and leading you inside.
~ One Month Later ~
"Ok, Y/N, I want to try something new with you today," Loki said, before you started training. "I'm going to throw some items at you and I want you to stop them and throw them away from you. You've learned well to react with your telekinesis but this will start training you for missions when you start going."
"Alright," you said. "Let's do this!" He started off easy enough, throwing tennis balls at you. But after about 10 minutes, he asked if you were ready for something harder. "Yeah!" You exclaimed. He immediately switched to throwing daggers. You gulped but kept at it. The knives were clanging loudly on the floor as you threw them aside.
"You're doing marvelously, darling," Loki grinned. You smiled and tried to hide the fact that you were getting tired. In a matter of minutes, however, it all fell apart. You missed a knife and it sliced your arm. You cried out loudly and grabbed at it, trying to heal it as fast as you could. Loki immediately rushed to your side, helping you sit on the nearest bench. "Y/N! Are you ok?" You nodded but he didn't see, he was looking down at the dagger he still held in his one hand. Tears started rolling down his cheeks. "I'm so sorry. I-I shouldn't have-" he stopped mid-sentence, voice shaking and hands trembling. "I hurt you. I could have-" he stopped again. He couldn't even look at you now and it worried you greatly. "He was right. I shouldn't-"
"Loki?"
"Is your arm healed now?" He asked, trying to keep his voice even.
"Yes, it wasn't that bad. It healed up quickly. See?" He nodded sharply, back towards you, refusing to turn his head.
"I should go now. I'm sorry I can't finish today's session."
"Loki, wait!" You protested. But before you could stop him, he was already out the door and gone.
"What the heck just happened," You asked yourself. Shaking your head you decided you clean up the training room and try to get him to talk to you in a few hours.
Sixth Sense - Chapter 5
Paring: Loki x Reader
Word Count: 3,089
Warnings: Injury Recovery, Harsh!Tony.
Posted: 17/01/2021
Tumblr media
Waking up in Asgards infirmary wasn’t what you expected. You expected Odin to have someone transfer you back to earth so human doctors could handle you instead of him wasting his resources. But as you got up you jerked in pain. The stab wound was stitched and bandaged, but you had healed enough to move at least, only if you were careful. Your legs dangled over the edge as Odin walked in. You bowed your head refusing to look at him.
“You have awakened, child. How are you feeling?” You kept your head down, refusing to look at him. He was alone, which made you wary.
“I’m fine. But I must speak to you about what happened when Loki died. I tried to save him, as did Thor. But he died without the darkness within him. I healed him before you could speak again. He gave his life to save Thor’s.” That’s when you looked into his eyes. “He died a hero. I owe him my life.”
“Yes, Thor has told me of your endeavours.”
“When can I return to Earth? With Loki gone I have no purpose here.”
“You may leave with Thor when he returns there himself.”
“Thank you, Odin, and please, tell Asgard of Loki’s sacrifice.”
“I will.” A guard came up and whispered something in Odin’s ear. “Thor has arrived. You shall depart soon” You nodded as he left. Not long after a voice boomed through the halls disturbing your peace.
“Y/N” Thor’s voice echoed through the halls before he walked through the door.
“Thank the Norns that you’re okay!” Thor had hugged you tighter than needed.
“Ow- Thor- Wound!” You gasped in pain once he released you. He held his hands out almost touching you trying to examine you without making contact.
“I’m fine Thor. How’s Jane? Did you save earth again?”
“Jane is fine, and yes I did. Earth sustained some damage but I defeated Malekith.”
“What are you going to do now? ”
“I will return to Midgard. As will you. The Avengers need us.”
“Okay, Just, don’t tell Tony that I was involved. Say I got caught in the crossfire. He would hate to know that I was on the front lines.” You giggled at the thought of Tony yelling at Thor about your safety. You looked back at Thor, ready to leave.
“Let’s go home” You smiled as you got off the bed. Thor had held on to you giving you support as you made it down to the Bifrost. You had been dropped off at your balcony. You headed inside with Thor. Jarvis started speaking as you entered,
“Y/N you have arrived back safely. I shall inform Mr Stark of your arrival.” Before you could stop Jarvis a loud crash was heard from above you. Tony had dropped whatever project he was working on and started making his way down. Footsteps thundering above you. Thor had gently helped you down onto the couch as Tony walked in through the Elevator.
“Hey, Tony-”
“Don’t ‘Hey Tony’ me. Where have you been!”
“Uh. You see I went to Asgard to-”
“No excuses!”
“It’s not an excuse, Tony, just listen and I’ll tell you what happened” He huffed but stayed silent urging you to continue.
“I had to go to Asgard so I could- speak, to Loki.”
“You what?” His voice was quiet but strained. Trying to stay calm at the thought of it.
“Since I can read auras, and I read him when you caught him after the New York attack. I had already found one of his darkest secrets. So I thought if I went to speak to him, with Thor to keep me safe. Then maybe- maybe I could find out why he had attacked us. And I did.”
“So? Why did he?”
“Because he would have died if he didn’t. He was- He was tortured into submission, Tony. If he didn’t obey, he would have died at the hands of that awful creature” Tears began falling from your eyes, yet, you didn’t try to stop them. “He told me everything. All of his troubles, from his childhood to now.” Tony's face no longer showed anger, but empathy, and compassion. Seeing you cry, it made him rethink the situation. How had Loki acted while fighting them? Was he hiding his true emotions? Or did he just straight-up lie to you? He went with the question he wanted to ask, instead of sparing your feelings.
“Hey, kid. Are you sure he wasn’t lying or deceiving you? All he does is lie and manipulate-” Looking at him again the tears continued to fall as shock covered your face. You couldn’t believe that the man you looked up to, wouldn’t even try to understand someone else’s situation.
“Manipu- Manipulate? How could you say that? He- He died saving me, Tony! I saved him from his darkness, so he saved my life in return. I assure you. He was never evil.”
“Kid-” You couldn’t take his criticisms anymore, you were wounded, tired and as far as they knew grieving for someone you hardly knew. You had a connection after he opened up to you so much. Even if you knew he was still alive, you had to act as if he was gone.
“Look I’m tired okay. I just need to rest so my wound can heal.” Not giving anyone time to respond, you walked towards the hallway leading to your bedroom, closing the door behind you before you tried to rest. You heard them talk for a while, you assumed Tony had asked Thor of the details he knew, of your and Loki’s relationship- whatever it was. It wasn’t romantic, but it was more than friendship. It was an understanding of sorts.
You weren’t allowed on any missions until you were fully healed. Tony had insisted you stay in the penthouse until you were in full working order. It only took two weeks for the wound to heal. You knew it wouldn’t take long, but Tony was babying you so much it started to irritate you. So you did what any normal person would do. You left. You grabbed your backpack before heading to the elevator to leave the building.
You made your way through the streets of New York, going to the small cafe you knew wasn’t that far away. It wasn’t on the main street so it was normally quite empty. You walked in smelling the coffee and freshly baked goods. Being a regular there - when you weren’t on a mission- the cashier smiled your direction as you gave her a wave.
“Y/N! It’s been a while. Where have you been?”
“Well I kinda, got injured at work so I was told to take it easy”
“Well, working for the government is always dangerous. I’m just glad you’re okay”
“Yes, I’m fine, can I just get my regular please, Sophie?”
“Sure thing sweetie! I’ll bring it to ya once it’s done.” You gave her a small smile that she returned before getting your order. Sitting at the booth by the window you pulled a book from your backpack. Not long after Sophie returned with your order, you thanked her briefly before letting her get back to work. You enjoyed the serene moments you had here. It wasn’t fully silent, but it was never too loud for you. Taking a sip of your drink you looked out to the streets of New York. It was getting darker. You had left later than you normally would, thanks to Tony and his stupid ‘you can’t leave till you’re better’ rules. But it was still beautiful none the less.
While taking in the scenery a man sat across from you. You stared daggers at him to show you weren’t exactly interested, that was until you saw who it was. Loki. At least, you knew it was him by his aura alone. But he had used an illusion to give himself a different appearance. He had the same face, but he had shorter, light brown hair, that was curled. He also had some facial hair. He was wearing a black trenchcoat that was undone showing the white shirt he wore. And you had to agree, he was indeed attractive like that.
“Loki. I knew you were alive” You gave a shy smile before taking another sip of your drink.
“Well, I thought you might. You said yourself you can always see auras. So I assumed that even if I faked my death you would see through it.”
“Your assumption is correct” A small chuckle escaped your lips. Seeing him look so, Midgardian. It was so foreign, yet you enjoyed it. Having his company again was a nice feeling. Considering everyone thought he was dead, it was risky coming here, but even with the same face his appearance was different so no one would notice unless they were looking for it. You spent the rest of the time ranting about Tony’s stupid rules and overprotectiveness over you. Loki had just let you talk through it, the past couple of weeks had been so draining, so it was nice to rant about it to someone. Once you were done Loki just kept looking your direction for a couple of seconds before eventually responding.
“My judgement on this is that Stark seems so see you as a daughter, maybe even a little sister. So he naturally becomes overprotective when he thinks you’re hurt or in danger of any kind.” You thought about his words and they made sense. Tony had you by your side since you were a teenager. S.H.I.E.L.D found you through him. You never thought about it but he was like a father figure to you.
“That makes sense. But I guess I never thought about it. He is like a father figure to me. But he’s also one of my best friends. He took me in when I was younger.” You looked outside, gazing at the tower in the distance. “I should go back though, I’ve been gone for hours. He would be worried.” Loki frowned but stood up with you as you placed your backpack on your shoulder.
“Let me walk you back, it’s dark out.” A pout appeared on your face, you wanted to walk with him but would Tony recognise him?
“I could change my appearance again so Stark wouldn’t recognise me.”
“There are plenty of doppelgangers in this world. I’ll just tell him you’re my old friend who came to visit” You said goodbye to Sophie as she gave a thumbs up and a cheeky grin saying ‘go get him’. She had assumed you were on a date. Considering how long you spoke, you could see why. The walk back to the tower was short, you wished it would last longer. Since he was presumed dead you didn’t know how much time you could spend together. Granted you hardly spent any time together before today, but it was so nice, you wanted to do it again. And so did he. He never enjoyed time with a Midgardian before he spent time with you. You shared his interest in books, and quiet places. You listened to his problems and empathised with him. You cared for him. There was a new, unknown feeling bubbling in his chest. He didn’t know why, but he felt drawn to you. Could it have been your ability to read his memories? Had you implanted some of yourself into his subconscious? Or was it just that you had cared for him, so he cared for you in return.
Making it to the tower you had insisted he leave you at the door but he entered the elevator with you ignoring your pleas. You knew Tony would ask questions, but Loki was persistent. You knew Jarvis was listening in so you knew you couldn’t speak to him as Loki. But you had assumed Jarvis would update Tony on your arrival by the time you got to your floor. The doors opened and you had stepped into your apartment leading Loki inside. You placed your backpack on the couch before making your way to the kitchen to get a drink. Loki was observing your place, looking for the small details of it that showed your personality. Like the small paintings placed above the television. The pictures of your family you placed on the mantle. Even the way you organised your things. He wanted to know all about you.
“Jarvis, is Tony back yet?” Confused as to who you were speaking with, Loki made his way towards you before being startled by a voice.
“Yes ma’am, would you like me to inform him of your return?” He continued his way to you noticing no one was present when you came into view.
“Yes, but tell him I have a friend over. We met up at the cafe”
“Of course, ma’am” You rolled your eyes before scolding him.
“How many times have I told you to stop calling me that! You’re making me feel old” You grumbled.
“I’m sorry Miss Y/N”
“Who are you speaking to?” The look of absolute confusion on his face made you giggle.
“Oh, that’s Jarvis. He’s the AI.” You turned towards him, mug in hand.
“AI?” You nodded leaning against the counter.
“Artificial Intelligence. He’s basically the security system, he’s always watching, always listening.”
“Why doesn’t a lady have any privacy in this realm?” His voice was quiet like he was talking to himself.
“Yes, we do. But since I’m technically an Avenger, it’s all for my protection. But he will stop if I ask. Since I’m the only female under his watch, Tony made adjustments so I could get privacy when I wanted. It’s voice-activated though. The phrase itself doesn’t matter unless it’s my voice.”
“Interesting” He placed a hand to his mouth deep in thought before you heard the ping of the elevator opening. You didn’t need to look to know it was Tony. He walked into the kitchen as Loki looked towards the door. Knowing he won’t let you speak you let him do so first.
“Why did you leave? Where did you go? And who is he?” He emphasised as he stared daggers at Loki. But you knew not to act suspicious. You shrugged as you answered his questions.
“Because you had trapped me here. To the cafe. And this is a friend of mine.” Taking a sip of your drink you tilted your head towards Loki. Tony continued staring. If he kept looking he might recognise him.
“The names Luke” Loki held his hand out awkwardly and dropped it realising Tony wouldn’t take it. After he introduced himself to Tony you realised the tension was high. Clearing your throat, you put your mug in the sink before making your way to the doorway, which Tony was standing in. You stopped in front of him placing a hand on his arm.
“Tony, don’t ruin this for me. I haven’t seen him in ages, and your pretty intimidating since you’re a billionaire and an avenger. Just leave, please. We’ll talk this through when he leaves.” He looked at your pleading eyes before nodding silently. He left, but not before sending intimidating eyes back at Loki. Once you knew he was gone you exhaled the breath you didn’t realise you were holding.
“Jarvis. I would like a private conversation, can you mute all camera’s until I say otherwise.”
“Of course Miss Y/N.” You waited a couple of seconds before nodding your head Loki’s direction, indicating that you wanted him to follow as you walked toward the couch. You sat down gesturing to the seat next to you. As he sat down you moved your body to face him.
"Now then, I have some questions." He nodded urging you to continue."Why did you fake your death, I've had to pretend that I still think you are supposedly dead."
"Why to take the throne of course. If I became Odin no one would know."
"So you will use illusions to become Odin and take over the throne? But how will you do that with Odin still present?"
"Easy, I used a spell that My Mother- Frigga taught me"
"Used- so you've already done it?!" You leaned closer to him intrigued by his success.
"Of course. I just had to see you first." Leaning back once more you knew you had to ask.
"Well, where is Odin now?"
"A care home here in New York" You pondered whether you should ask him or not before deciding to anyway.
"Which one? Would you like me to keep an eye on him. To make sure he doesn't break from your spell. I'm not doubting your skill or anything. But he's the Allfather. He's powerful"
"There's no guarantee that he won't break free from it. But it should last a couple of years at least." Nodding to show your understanding, you held his hand between your own.
"I know that this is what you always wanted. But have you thought of the consequences" Questioning the God of Mischief would normally be a stupid act, follwed by an order, a threat or a beating of some kind. But he wouldn't hurt you. He had proved that when he saved your life, and returned to check on you after you were injured.
"I have. But this is the better option. Odin gave orders to stop Thor no matter the cost. Even if it ends in his death. I can't let him do that. So i took over."
"So the Odin that was with me-"
"Yes, it was me. But I couldn't let Thor know. Making sure the guards didn't kill him when he came to bring you back here was difficult. They questioned why Odin changed his mind so soon."
"Makes sense but-" The elevator opened halting your conversation. Cap walked in holding some papers. Shuffling through them before picking one up as he spoke.
"Y/N I know you just got back but you need to take a look at this" Eyes narrowing you walked towards him taking the paper from his grasp. Skimming through the documents you stopped and re-read the same sentence over and over again. Trying to make sense of it. These were unofficial S.H.I.E.L.D documents. It was Tony's statement. From when he found you all those years ago. And alongside it, was a picture. The item that was the source of your power.
“I can’t begin to comprehend why such a thing needs to be rehearsed,” Loki mutters unhappily into his glass of whiskey. He glances around the decorated lawn of the compound that was littered with the rest of the Avengers and their close associates. “Is this going to be everyone?”
“Why?” Thor asks as he pulls out his flask of Asgardian mead from his coat pocket. “Looking for someone specifically?”
“No,” Loki is quick to answer. “No, I… I just thought that she would be here.”
“She?”
Loki sighs at the mistake made but refuses to elaborate. His brother had attempted to get him to speak of what occurred in Asgard. Thor had noticed his brother’s foul mood but could not piece together what might have happened much to Loki’s relief.  Thor was in the dark as much as Loki was as he had yet to make any sense of it himself.
You had left. You abandoned him with no reason and it hurt. It hurt to think that he had driven you away.
“Well whoever she is, brother, I’m glad it was enough to get you out of your room,” Thor answers cheerfully. “I was growing worried.”
Loki doesn’t offer him a response instead motioning Thor to place half of his flask into Loki’s now empty cup. If he were to get through this rehearsal dinner, Loki might need a few drinks in him.
A high squeal is heard from afar but Loki ignores it knowing it must have been the easily amused Witch.
“Ah, the Lady Y/N has arrived,” Thor comments passively as he watches Wanda head to the valet entrance. “It’s good to see she’s alive. Everyone was quite worried about her.”
At hearing your name, Loki turns away from his brother to find you stepping out of a car. Wanda doesn’t waste a moment as she immediately pulls you into a hug causing your laughter to fill the air. Her excitement of your return is excessive even more so as she notices the date you’ve brought.
Bucky Barnes hands the keys over to the valet before settling by your side. Being a gentleman, he offers you his arm to take and you do which sends Wanda into another fit of excited laughter.
Loki finds himself unable to breathe. You always had a way to take his breath away, but this was different. It broke him to see you and your past lover together.
“Are you going to say hello to her?”
Loki shakes his head and looks away, downing the mead that Thor had shared with him before searching for the nearest bar for a refill.
Tumblr media
You watch as Wanda disappears into the crowd as she goes off to search for Natasha. It wouldn’t be long now for everyone to find out that you were back. Wanda would make sure of spreading the news and you knew you had a long night ahead because of it.
“I didn’t realize that Wanda was very…” Bucky trails off as he tries to avoid the word that came to mind.
“...Nosy?” you finish for him.
“You said it, not me,” Bucky laughs.
“She’s just protective of me,” you shrug. “I’ve been gone for months and I left without saying goodbye. I owe everyone an explanation.”
“You don’t owe anyone anything,” Bucky tells you. “You left because you needed to take care of yourself. You don’t need to explain that to anybody.”
You let out a sigh and are quick to grab a flute of champagne from a passing waiter. You knew Bucky was right but you had to offer them something. You disappeared, and though it was for your sanity in mind, your friends deserved better from you.
“Thank you, Bucky,” you whisper to him.
“For what?”
“For everything,” you answer. “For covering for me, hearing me out, and tonight especially for coming as my date.”
“Well, it’s the least I could do for an old friend,” Bucky responds with a smile. “I’m just happy that you’re happy.”
You look away as he says this not necessarily feeling that way.
You’re anxious.
Not because you were finally facing the music with all of your friends, but because this was the first time you would be in the same vicinity as Loki since that last night in Asgard.
“You are happy, right?”
“If I say no, will you judge me?” you ask him.
Bucky takes in your fallen expression and is quick to pull you into a half-embrace. You rest your head on his shoulder and sigh.
“I haven’t been able to get him out of my head. He’s under my skin. He’s in there pretty deeply and I… I wouldn’t want him anywhere else.”
Bucky presses a soft kiss at the crown of your head before letting you go.
“Maybe you should talk to him?” he offers. “Put those matters to rest so you can finally move on.”
Before you can refuse, Bucky continues.
“Look, you can’t keep running. You’ll never stop,” Bucky tells you. “You can’t drive yourself away from the people who care about you the most because you’re afraid of what you feel for him.”
He had a point, but you refused to follow his advice. The pain was still so fresh and you still couldn’t manage it.
“He’s here, you know?” Bucky adds. “He’s been watching you the moment we came in.”
“Bucky…”
He doesn’t allow you another word as he slowly turns you around. Through the crowded dance floor, you find the Asgardian brothers together. Thor was oblivious to your stare while Loki quickly caught it.
Your breath catches in your throat but you can’t find it in yourself to look away. Even though dancing couples kept crossing your field of vision, he was the only person you could see.
As much as you wanted to allow yourself to be overwhelmed by the warmth and serenity that came with seeing him, you couldn’t ignore how your heart broke all over again.
“Dance,” you state as you down your champagne and set it aside. You turn to Bucky immediately after. “Take me to dance.”
Bucky hesitates but the pleading look that you offer him is enough to take your offered hand and lead you to the dance floor. You moved in sync with him allowing him to take the lead as he swayed you from side to side.
“He’s still watching,” Bucky whispers by your ear.
“I can’t… please…” you whisper back. “Please stop.”
“It breaks my heart to see you like this, doll.”
“Then maybe it was a bad idea coming back,” you state. “Maybe I should leave…”
“Leave? You just got here!”
You turn around to find Tony with an exasperated look on his face. He turns over to Bucky with a half-nod.
“May I cut in for a quick second?”
Bucky spins you into Tony’s arms not allowing you a choice. You’re trapped when Tony takes over and starts to lead you away from Bucky.
“Heard you came back,” Tony starts off. “Glad to see it's true.”
“I can explain…”
“No, no explanation needed,” Tony interrupts. “I’m sure you needed some rehab after spending some time with the Prince of Hell. I would have given him shit about it but he seems to be beating himself up for whatever happened up there.”
“Tony,” you sigh out. “He didn’t do anything.”
“Then why did you leave?”
“Because I… I just needed some time away,” you answer. “I can’t say much from that. I’m not ready to talk about it.”
“Fine…” Tony draws out. “Are you… Are you ok though?”
“No,” you answer honestly. “For the first time in my life, I’m kind of lost.”
“Tell me how I can help.”
“You’re already doing it,” you answer as you lean into his shoulder. “This, right here, being here for me. It’s all I needed right now.”
“We’re family, kid,” Tony sighs out.
“Yeah,” you agree with him in relief. “Family.”
The song comes to an end and you pull away from Tony. You press a kiss on his cheek and wipe off the residue of your lipstick.
“Congrats by the way,” you smile at him. He starts to lead you out of the dance floor and you follow him. “Who would have thought this day would come?”
“Ah yes, the genius billionaire playboy finally settles down.”
“Women and men everywhere are absolutely devastated,” you joke.
“Stop feeding his ego,” Steve speaks up as he arrives with Bucky by his side. “There’s barely enough space for it as it is.”
“Yeah, doll,” Bucky agrees. “Man calls himself a genius and yet he can’t make a flying car happen.”
You can’t help but laugh as Tony rolls his eyes.
“Just because my father proposed such an outrageous idea doesn’t mean I have to follow through with it.”
The argument continues between them causing everyone to laugh. You feel yourself lighten a bit. It felt good to be surrounded by people you cared about. You can’t remember the last time that you felt this way.
“So Wanda was quick to tell me you came here with Bucky,” Natasha whispers as she manages to sneak by your side. “Didn’t realize you were into older men.”
You can’t help but snort at hearing this from her. If only she knew how right she was. Though Bucky was technically younger than you, you were indeed in love with a thousand year old being.
“Yeah, I uh… I didn’t realize it either.”
Natasha passes you a flute of champagne. You knew she was settling in to start her questioning which you were sure you weren’t ready for.
“So who would have thought,” Natasha whispers. “Loki of Asgard…”
You shouldn’t have been surprised that she found you out without even asking you anything. She was the spy after all.
“He’s been watching you all night and you’ve been ignoring him,” Natasha explains. “Besides, I watched the security feed of the day you came back. Nice dress by the way.”
“Nat…”
“You left and two minutes later, Loki arrives but you’re already gone. You both have been distant since then.”
You don’t know how to respond so you simply take a drink and look away from her. Only to find Thor and Loki entering the group to be a part of the lively discussion. Loki’s sight remains on you and you can’t afford to be this close to him for too long.
“I uh… I need a minute.”
You leave Natasha without hearing a reply as you search for Bucky. You find him chatting with Steve and you are quick to pull him aside.
“Doll, what’s wrong?”
“I’m leaving,” you tell him. “I can’t be here anymore.”
“Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow for the wedding.”
“No, you actually won’t,” you answer. “I’m going back home. I… Everyone apparently knows what went down between Loki and I and I can’t… I’m not in the mood to get into all of that and he’s right here. I thought I could handle it, but I can’t. Tell everyone I’m sorry. Tell Tony… I’m sorry.”
You don’t wait for Bucky’s response as you abandon your glass and slip into the nearby crowd hoping no one has noticed.
Tumblr media
Bucky is quick to cut across the group to reach him. Loki’s hold on his glass tightens at the sight of the soldier which doesn’t go unnoticed by him. Bucky wasn’t looking for a fight but he would be willing to get into one if it meant you stayed.
“She’s leaving,” Bucky tells him. “Y/N is leaving and I don’t think she’s coming back this time. So if you care about her at all then do something about it because you’re not going to get a second chance.”
Loki knows he’s telling the truth but he’s confused as to why the soldier is coming to him for help.
“Why are you telling me this?” Loki asks. “You’re the one she loves.”
“If you seriously believe that then you’re a bigger fool than I thought you were,” Bucky answers. “She only has eyes for you but you made a mistake and it broke her. So if you love her like I know you do, then go after her now. Give her a reason to stay.”
Loki doesn’t hesitate now as he passes off his glass to the waiting soldier and chases after you. By fate’s way, the crowd seems to part for him allowing him a chance to reach you before you could make it to the valet.
“Y/N, wait.”
You stop, faltering to take a step away from him. Loki could tell you wish to but you remain rooted in place.
“What do you want, Loki?”
He barely manages to catch your voice. It’s soft and quiet, defeated. You can’t even turn to look at him causing your question to twist into his heart like a dagger. Whatever content you held for him was gone now.
“For you to stay,” Loki answers simply. “I’ll leave if it makes you comfortable. These are your friends and family celebrating. I have no reason to stand in your way. I’ll leave so you won’t have to.”
“That’s really all you came to say to me?” you scoff with a shake of your head. “Really?”
“I don’t know what-”
You’re quick to silence him when you turn around and crash your lips against his seeking a kiss that should have been given so long ago.
The Bet
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bucky x reader
For the Flex Your Muscles Writing Challenge set up by @captain-rogers-beard
16th of June prompt: Carefree
Word count: 1.5K
Summary: Thor brings some Asgardian liquor to one of Tony’s party and Bucky makes a bet that he may regret
Warnings: swearing, mentions of drinking, little bit of angst but mostly fluff
Authors notes: GIF not mine. This one was tough today. The idea kind of evolved as I wrote this so I hope it’s ok for those of you reading it? Thank you for all the lovely comments. As always feedback welcome x
-----------------------------------------------------------
You glanced across at Bucky. His blue eyes focussed on the road ahead, fingers wrapped tightly around the steering wheel. He had a particularly rough week. You could tell when he returned from a mission he was quieter, as if he had relived his past. In fact, he had. The mission had sent him back to a Hydra base he has been kept in as the winter soldier. Then last night he had a nightmare, the first one in about 6 months. You reached across and place your hand on his thigh and gave it a gentle squeeze. “What you thinking?” His eyes immediately softened at your words, he glanced over at you briefly and smiled. “Just that I would rather be spending the night with you at home. Eating a take away and watching some shit tv.” You ran your thumb gently over the material of his suit trousers. “I know, me too. But, we promised Tony. We can show our faces and then make a run for it.” He lifted your hand up to his lips and kissed it delicately. “That’s why I love you doll.”
The party was in full swing when you and Bucky arrived. Everyone looked at you both as you walked in, which seemed unusual. Bucky’s arm automatically went to your waist, holding you close to him. Bucky hated social gatherings, but with you he felt more at ease. Spotting Thor and Steve, you headed to the bar. “Ah Y/N, Bucky, how are you?” You momentarily left Bucky so that Thor could envelope you in a bear hug. “I’m good. It’s been ages” you laughed as you moved and rested your back against Bucky’s chest. “I arrived this afternoon, where have you two been hiding?” Bucky patted Thor on the shoulder in greeting. “We moved out to our own place a few weeks ago”. Steve passed you a drink over, he looked carefully at your hand as you took it. This was the second funny thing that had happened since you arrived. What was going on? Thor’s booming voice interrupted your thoughts “You won’t want to join me then?” he said brandishing a bottle of Asgardian Liquor at Bucky. You could feel Bucky shift behind you. “We could always stay in your old room, you still have some stuff here?” You said, peering over your shoulder to look at Bucky. He sent you a questioning frown but nodded as he leaned down and kissed your cheek. Maybe it would do him some good to relax after the week he had had.
Hours later most of the other guests had left, leaving just the members of team to enjoy the rest of the night. You we sat with Nat and Wanda whilst Bucky was talking to Sam and Steve. Bucky had relaxed after his first couple of drinks. You hadn’t really seen him drunk before but there was a first time for everything. Bucky rarely seemed this carefree. He caught your eye from across the room and walked over to you. You couldn’t help but admire him, he looked gorgeous in his black fitted suit paired with a black shirt. When he got up to you he leant over and whispered “Wanna dance?” You looked at him “You are drunk” you giggled at him. “Am not. Just want to show of my girl.” He took your hand and led you over the dance floor. Both his hands found his way to your hips and your arms laced behind his neck as you swayed to the music together. You loved him so much, it wasn’t often you saw this side of him. Bucky was one of the kindest and most decent people you had met, but when he wasn’t out in the field he was shy and nervous. The Bucky in your arms was confident and had no problem showing his affection for you, something he normally reserved for when you were in private. “Y/N I love you. That dress is incredible” he murmured against your neck. You tilted your chin him so that you could kiss him. “I love you too Buck”.
“Yo, lovebirds” Both of you turned to look at Sam. He was stood with Steve and Thor. You rolled your eyes as you and Bucky walked over to them. “So, I reckon that Steve is faster than Bucky and Thor reckons Bucky is faster than Steve.” Bucky chuckled next to you. “Let’s find out.” Nat, Tony and Wanda walked over to the gathering. Bucky took off his Jacket. “You can’t be serious” you said incredulously. “What’s going on?” Tony said loudly. “Steve and Tinman are going to race.” Sam replied, excitement evident in his voice. “My money is on Cap.” Bets were placed then Steve said something very unlike him. “I think me and Buck should make a bet too.” Bucky looked interested “You’re on punk. If I win then you have to ask Sharon out.” Steve blushed and looked taken back, then a glint appeared in his eyes. “Ok, if I win you have to propose to Y/N” You were about to start arguing then Bucky cut you off. “Deal” and shook Steve’s outreached hand.
At this you threw your hands up in the air and walked off towards the bar. You wanted Bucky to propose because he wanted to, not because of winning a stupid bet. So, you left the boys to their idiotic bet, you knew Bucky was drunk for the first time in years, maybe he didn’t realise what he had agreed to? 10 minutes later everyone came back in; Bucky wearing a scowl. He walked over to you “I lost.” He tried to put his arm around you put you held your hand out to stop him. You shook your head. “You’re not proposing to me now, I forbid it.” He was shocked at your reaction. “I’m off to bed” with that you walked off towards his old room. You stripped off your silky black dress, letting it pool around your ankles and pulled off your underwear and stepping into the shower. The water helped sooth the pounding in your head. How could Bucky make a bet like that? Later that night when he came in stumbling around the room, you ignored him, keeping your back to him.
When morning arrived, you were still annoyed at him. You rolled over and Bucky groaned as you woke him up. “Y/N, what happened last night?” his voice sounded gravely. “Do you really not remember?” He ran his hands through his hair. “I remember drinking too much and running but that’s about it.” You sat up and stretched. “Well you made a bet with Steve that you could beat him in a race, you lost.” Bucky looked at you, slight panic in his eyes. “What was the bet?” You frowned and turned to him “that you had to propose to me.” His reaction wasn’t what you expected; his face flushed and his mouth opened and closed as he thought of what to say. “That punk.”
Now you were confused. “Y/N, Steve came with me the other week to buy a ring. I was” he paused “going to propose to you last night before the party.” It took a minute or two for you to respond “So Steve was…” Bucky pinched the bridge of his nose “I think trying to help, he thought I had bottled it. The party was going to become our engagement party.” Bucky moved closer to you in the bed. Least that explained the way everyone had looked at you when you walked in and the way Steve had stared at your hand when giving you a drink. “But you didn’t propose to me. You didn’t want to even go to the party.” Bucky couldn’t stand the hint of pain in your voice. His hand cupped your chin and tilted your face towards his “Y/N, after everything this week, I didn’t think the timing was right. I wanted it to be special” His forehead was now resting against yours. “But why did you take the bet then?” You asked quietly. He kissed the top of your nose “I don’t even remember taking the bet, I was drunk. I haven’t been drunk since the 40’s Y/N. Please forgive me and let me make it up to you”. Pulling back from him, your eyes locked to his. You could see the regret there. “Hmmm I guess. You were drunk, but you owe me breakfast Barnes” He threw himself at you and peppered kisses all over your face. “I am sorry” you chuckled “I know, but you’re still an idiot. My idiot. I love you.” Bucky lifted himself off you and rested on his elbow, his fingers running up and down your arm “I love you too Y/N.”
Chapter 12: Surprise
I leaned against Bea’s apartment building, picking at my nails, and decided to check on Loki. I reached out, finding him easier than I expect; he must be close. I was wondering where you ran off to, darling. Loki’s thoughts were light, happy. I’ve been dealing with your brother. I rolled my eyes, knowing Loki couldn’t see it, but I could feel him laugh anyway. Don’t roll your eyes at me. Loki paused for a few seconds. I think I know how we can get out of here. Thank god. I glanced up, seeing Bea, Thor, and Bruce pushing out of the crowd. I’ll see you soon, dear. Sooner than you think. I was taken back by Loki’s last thought, but Bea was approaching fast.             “Sorry, rounding up these two is worse than herding cats,” Bea complains, rolling her eyes.             “Hi Bruce,” I offered a soft smile.             “Thor,” Bruce panicked, his eyes bugging out as he repeatedly hit Thor’s arm.             “She’s on our side,” Thor sighed, clapping Bruce on the shoulder.             “Don’t worry, Hulk seemed to like me,” I smiled, winking at Bruce. Bruce swallowed loudly, his eyes still wide open; I raised an eyebrow when he reached down, adjusting the crotch of his pants.             “Would you stop doing that!” Thor scolded, smacking at Bruce’s arm.             “Tony wears his pants so tight!” Bruce whispers harshly. Bea dramatically rolled her eyes, pushing me towards the door. She stopped in the hallway before her apartment, turning to face Thor and Bruce, who are still going back and forth.             “Look, I spent most of my time here in a haze, trying to forget my past. Sakaar seemed like a good place to drink, forget, and one day die,” Bea took a deep breath, obviously struggling with her confession.             “I was thinking you drink too much, and it would probably kill you,” Thor cut in; Bea and I shot him death glares, shutting him up instantly.             “I don’t want to stop drinking, but I don’t want to forget anymore. I can’t turn away anymore. So if I’m going to die, might as well be driving a sword into that murderous hag,” Bea smiled, knocking shoulders with me.             “We appreciate it, Bea,” I beamed, gripping her shoulder before heading towards her door.             “So I’m saying I wanna be part of this team. Has it got a name?” she asked, eyeing Thor.             “Yeah, it’s called the...Revengers,” Thor stutters, trying to cover it with a smile.             “Revengers?” Bea and I say together. Real original.             “Because we’re getting revenge.” -Thor turns to Bruce- “Do you want revenge?”             “I’m undecided,” Bruce mumbles, his eyes fixated on Bea.             “I do have a peace offering,” Bea smirks, gesturing to her door. I shot her a confused look, but all she did was smile, gesturing Thor and Bruce inside.             “Surprise,” a familiar, monotone voice traveled from the apartment. I watched Thor pick up a discarded bottle, throwing it at his brother. “Ow.”             “Had to be sure,” Thor grunted, glaring at his brother.             “Hello Bruce,” I heard Loki chirp; Bruce tensed as he stepped into the room.             “So, last time I saw you, you were trying to kill everybody. Where are you these days?” Bruce managed to squeak.             “It varies from moment to moment,” Loki offers, a sly smile on his face.             “Who is this guy?” Bea asks, eyeing Bruce cautiously.             “I’ll explain later,” I sighed. “Loki,” I called, finally making it into the apartment. I watched Loki’s body language shift; he relaxed into the chain holding him still.             “Hello, my love,” Loki greeted.             “Really, Bea!” I shouted, shooting her a dirty look over my shoulder.             “He attacked me. Better to be safe than sorry,” she stated, shrugging as she drank from a random bottle.             “Assholes, both of you,” I mumbled, kneeling in front of Loki. “That’s what you meant when you said, ‘sooner than you think.’”             “I knew she’d bring you here,” Loki said with a soft smile. I shook my head, reaching out to cup his cheek, angling his face up to connect our lips. “I’ve missed you,” Loki hummed against my lips.             “This is weird,” I heard Bruce whisper.             “What?” Thor asked. I glanced over my shoulder, watching Bruce lean closer to Thor.             “Loki,” Bruce whispered, visibly shivering.             “Married life has changed him some,” Thor chuckled, turning away from us.             “Married?” Bruce squeaked. Bruce turned his gaze towards us again, only to find Loki and I watching him with bored looks. “S-sorry,” he mumbled. I glanced at Thor and Bea, catching Thor admiring her Dragonfang; Loki rolled his eyes but smiled softly.             “Behave,” I warned, patting Loki’s leg before making my way towards Bea, Thor, and Bruce.             “Sakaar and Asgard are about as far apart as any two known systems. Our best bet is a wormhole just outside the city limits,” Bea took another pull from the bottle in her hand. “Refuel on Xandar and be back in Asgard in 18 months.”             “Nope, we’re going through that one,” Thor pointed to the giant, violent wormhole over the ocean.             “The Devil’s Anus?” Bea said, trying to keep a straight face.             “Wait, who’s anus are we going through?” Bruce chimes in.             “For the record, I didn’t know it was called that when I picked it,” Thor stammered.             “That looks like a collapsing neutron star inside of an Einstein-Rosen Bridge,” Bruce babbled.             “We need another ship that’ll tear yours apart, Bea,” I huffed, rubbing the bridge of my nose.             “She's right. We need one that can withstand the geodetic strain from the singularity,” Thor added.             “Who the fuck are you, and what have you done with the God of Thunder?” I gaped, staring at Thor like he had three heads. Thor glared at me before turning back to Bruce, waiting for his input; Bruce was staring dumbfounded at Thor too but quickly shook it off.             “And has an offline power steering system that could also function without the onboard computer,” Bruce added.             “And cup holders because we’re gonna die. So, drinks!” Bea cheered. I glanced over at Loki, quickly sending my magic towards him.             Can you kill me now? I rolled my eyes.             Sorry, not today, darling. Loki smiled at me, looking back at the floor. I caught the tail end of Thor and Bruce’s awkward fist bump/ high five.             “We need a ship,” Thor and Bruce said together.            “I don’t mean to impose, but the Grandmaster has a great many ships. I may even have stolen the access codes to his security system,” Loki interjects. I didn’t see her throw it, but the bottle Bea was holding exploded behind Loki, causing him to flinch.             “Bea, what the hell!” I shouted.             “He tried to kill me; he’s only alive because of you,” she snapped. “So what, you have the sudden urge to do the right thing?”             “Heavens no. I’ve run out of favors” -Loki’s gaze fell on me- “and we need off this planet.”             “You're telling us you can get us access into the garage without setting off any alarms?” Thor asked, raising an eyebrow at Loki.             “Yes, brother, I can.”             “If we're boosting a ship, we're gonna need to draw some guards away from the palace,” Bea points out.             “Why not set the beast loose?” Loki proposed with a devilish grin.             “Shut up,” Thor snapped.             “You guys have a beast?” Bea asked, her eyes darting around the room for an answer.             “No, there’s no beast. He’s just being stupid. We’re going to start a revolution,” Thor smiled.             “Revolution?” Bruce mumbled.             “I’ll explain later,” Thor reassured him.             “Who is this guy?” Bea asked again.             “I’ll explain later,” I reassured her.             “Violet, darling. Can you let me out now?” Loki called from across the room. I made my way over to Loki, unlocking the chains, letting them fall to the floor with a loud clatter. “Thank you, my queen,” Loki purred, pulling me into a hug.             “Be careful,” I mumbled into his shoulder, squeezing him.             “Of course. I’ll meet you in the hanger,” Loki confirmed against my hair. Loki pulled away slightly, gently gripping my chin to turn my face up towards him. “I love you,” he whispered, his breath puffing against my lips as he spoke.             “And I you,” I whispered, closing the space.             “Yeah, this is super weird,” Bruce blurted; I laughed against Loki’s lips.             “Come on, let’s go,” Thor grumbled, pulling Loki away from me.
Light in the Dark (Loki x Reader) 2
Chapter 2:
You braided your wet hair to the side as you made your way to the kitchen. Clint was sitting at the island shoveling cereal into his mouth. He looked up and smiled, "Morning Y/n."
"Good morning," you said in a sing-song voice. You mentally thanked whoever brewed the coffee, and sighed in relief that it was still warm. You poured some into a mug and popped a slice of bread into the toaster. You sliced an apple and apple in the meantime. You hunched over the opposite side of the island as you munched on one.
You held up an apple slice to Clint but he shook his head. You shrugged and bit into the slice. "No run this morning?" he asked.
"Nope," you said popping the 'p'. "Convinced Gramps that we deserved an off day." Clint chuckled. "I know, I'm good."
Tony stumbled into the kitchen like a zombie. You stifled a laugh, "Morning sunshine, sleep well?" He grumbled and snatched your cup of coffee sitting on the counter.
Before you could protest he put up his finger, telling you to wait. He took several gulps and sighed in relief. "Now, Y/n, what were you going to say?"
You glared at him as you poured yourself a new cup. Just as you opened your mouth, the toaster dinged. First Stark shushes you, now a toaster? What's next? Taking a deep breath, you grabbed your toast and aggressively bit into it.
Clint looked back and forth between you and Tony.
"Anyway," Tony said dramatically, "I have some files for you to go over. I'll leave them-"
"I can take them now." You interrupted. "Sorry, I'd rather get an early jump." He nodded and left the kitchen. You did a playful two-finger salute to Clint and followed Tony.
****
You sat in the library, files laid out around the table. You sipped on your coffee and carefully read through the reports, penciling in notes here and there.
"Miss L/n."
You jump at the sound of JARVIS addressing you. "Shit. Yes JARVIS?"
"Mr. Odinson has returned. He is requesting you the common area."
You nodded and began putting the papers back in their designated files, "Thanks, JARVIS. Tell him I'm on my way. Oh, and what time is it?"
"It is 2:46 PM, Miss Y/n."
"Thank you, JARVIS."
You hadn't realized so much time had passed. You hurridly made your way to your room to drop off the files before making your way to Thor.
You entered the common areas and saw him standing by one of the large glass windows, peering out at the city. "Muscles!" You said with a smile.
He whipped around with a huge smile, ear to ear, "Lady Y/n, it's so nice to see such a gentle face."
You hugged him and laughed. The man was literally a walking teddy bear. "I've missed you. Pretty sure you owe me a drink." You winked.
"Only, if you can keep up, Lady Y/n." He smirked. You turned to look out the window and happily sighed. You couldn't get enough of this view. "There's actually something I wish to discuss with you."
You turned to him and could see the concern in his eyes. You furrowed your brows, "And what might that be?"
"I need a favor."
****
"No."
"Tony," you begged. "Please?"
"As my employee, no. I'm responsible for your safety. Who knows what kind of trouble Point Break, here, will get you into."
You groan in frustration. You and Thor had called a meeting with everyone to discuss his proposition. Thor had asked you to come to Asgard with him. Why? First, he said you could get proper instruction for your abilities since there wasn't anyone on the team who could train you in that way....
But then he eased into his other reason.
"You want me to what?"
Thor's eyes pleaded with you, "I know what I'm asking you. But he's my brother. He's grown bitter and cold."
"More than he was already?" You raised an eyebrow. He tilted his head. That combined with his pleading eyes made you feel guilty. He looked so...sad.
Guilty? No. I have nothing to feel guilty about, you thought to yourself as you peered out the window.
"Y/n," he said softly. You looked back up at him. "Please. I promise you'll be kept safe. I don't know what else to do."
You didn't really understand why he was asking you to do this. You shouldn't even have cared. But Thor was your friend, he trusted you and you trusted him. So, you agreed... but now you were trying to convince everyone else... Mostly Tony.
Everyone else had remained silent while you and Tony argued. The silence from them wasn't very comforting or reassuring.
"Tony, think about this for a second," you said.
"I am!" he yelled as he turned his back to you.
You grew frustrated, "No, really think about this."
His silence signaled you to continue. "I can finally get training for my abilities. Something I've been begging for during my time here." Before you could continue he whipped around.
"I-"
"Let me finish." You said sternly. Everyone else shifted uncomfortably in their seats. "From the day you recruited me, I did everything I was asked. I picked up everyone's laundry, I went grocery shopping without being told, I cleaned, I filed paperwork, I obeyed to rules for training. I did everything you asked. Everything I was told."
You looked around the room as you continued. "I know that the other half of this arrangement is not comforting. I didn't forget what he did to this city, our city. I remember it all. But if going to Asgard, if putting up with that, means I can harness and train my abilities, then I should go." You faced Tony again. "I am going."
"Stark," Tony raised a finger to Thor, silencing him.
He turned to Thor, "If anything happens to her-"
"It won't"
"It better not." Steve finally piped in. "Y/n has become a friend to everyone here, Thor. She's smart and able," he looks at you, "but she's still in training."
Nat, Bruce, and Clint hummed their agreement with Steve. Tony sighed as plopped down on one of the lounge chairs. You slowly step toward him and kneel, "Mr. Stark," he looks up at you. "I'll be careful, I promise. I won't do anything unnecessary. I'm there to learn, observe, and..." you trailed off, not knowing exactly what your arrangement in regards to Loki really entails.
He nodded.
"I'm still your employee, first and foremost. The second I think things are going south," you gave a small smile, "I'll get my ass out of there."
"Language," mumbled Steve. You rolled your eyes and stood up. You thanked them and made your way back to your room to pack.
