Like I did with the moral alignments, I thought I would make a post about why and how I sort characters into Hogwarts Houses! There are also quizzes so you can figure it out for yourself as well. I go into detail about each House, what they represent, their background and what it means to be sorted into a certain House.

*just because I’m talking about Harry Potter doesn’t mean I align with the transphobic views of J.K. Rowling. There is no room for transphobia on my page, and I support the trans and LGBTQIA+ community*

Figuring out which Hogwarts House you belong to has been around since the HP series came out. But I think there’s more to it than simply choosing to be in ‘the brave house’ or ‘the smart house.’ I think it reveals a lot about a person - or rather, a large aspect.

Here are a few tests for you to try, comment below what you got!

Rowena wore a diadem that was said to grant wisdom to the wearer, however, Rowena’s own daughter grew jealous of her mother’s incredible intelligence. Helena Ravenclaw stole her mother’s diadem and ran away, a fact that Rowena kept hidden from her fellow founders even when she fell ill.

Wanting to see Helena before she died, Rowena sent a man to bring Helena home. Unfortunately, that man was the Bloody Baron, who was in love with Helena, and stabbed her in a rage when she refused to come home.

After Helena was tragically killed, legend tells us that Rowena Ravenclaw died of a broken heart.

Summary: While getting ready for her first year at Hogwarts, Kamala Khan discovers her grandma's old wand in the attic, and unlocks her own Jinn heritage.

House: Gryffindor

Blood Status: Halfblood and “half-breed”

Species: Human/Jinn hybrid

Wand: Deodar Cedar, 6 inches, Djinn hair from her great-grandmother

Broom: Cleansweep; has since upgraded to crystal air-steps

Patronus: Marbled Cat

Specialties: Conjuring, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination

Sorting:

It was a tossup between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, due to her craftiness and imagination. But Kamala's true power is daring, and her true desire is to join the heroes she idolizes.

Jinn:

The Khans are an average half-blood wizarding family—muggle father, magical mother. While getting her trunk together for her first year at Hogwarts, Kamala finds an old chest in the attic that belonged to her estranged grandmother, containing some interesting items: a Gryffindor scarf, a bangle, and an elegant wand. Her controlling mother demands she forget all of this "junk" and use the boring wand they bought from Ollivander. But Kamala sneaks the effects onto the Hogwarts Express with her. She rides the train with her muggleborn friend Bruno, and her half-blood friend Nakia, a third year Gryffindor Prefect. At the Sorting Ceremony, Kamala and Bruno go into Gryffindor and Ravenclaw respectively.

During her first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson, Kamala discovers that her grandmother's wand can do things no other wand can. And her bangle is a Portkey. Bruno analyses the wand and discovers that its core is a Jinn's hair, from someone sharing DNA with Kamala. With Bruno's help, Kamala begins uncovering her buried family history. Kamala practices her new magic on the roofs of Hogwarts. At one Care of Magical Creatures class, she saves Fleur Delacour's irritating nice Zoe from a rabid niffler, and gains an ally. During a fight in Hogsmeade with some evil Jinn, Kamala discovers that the Portkey bangle is also functionally a time-turner, and completes a Stable Time Loop to save her half-Jinn grandmother as a child. Also on Kamala's tail is a zealous Ministry of Magic agent named Dolly Stoher-Umbridge, Dolores's less interesting niece. The most incompetent agent in Ministry history, Umbridge 2.0 spends the entire school year failing to capture Kamala, then loses her job after nearly blowing up Hogwarts.

Mom finally comes around and supports Kamala joining the Order of the Avengers, even making her new robes. Kamala then does some missions for Mad-Eye Fury, with Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau.

Patronus:

Kamala leaps and bounds through the air in the constraining urban landscape very much like a small cat hunting in the rainforest, trailing her long scarf like the marbled cat’s exceptionally long tail. She has a cat's disdain for doing as she's told, but also a feline's stealth to break the rules under her opponent's nose. She is overall harmless, yet hunted simply for standing out.

AN: I've yet to see "the Marvels," but I'm looking forward to when I do. I enjoyed "Ms. Marvel," and meant to do this entry a while ago.

Hello lovely readers! Today I am so excited to bring you an interview with Ella, also known as ynhpstories on Wattpad and TikTok. Many aspiring authors, including myself, have been motivated by Ella's talent as a content developer. She is an inspiration to many and has a unique and distinct style that stands out.

In this interview, I get to know more about Ella and her journey as a creator. We discuss her creative process, the challenges she has faced, and her advice for aspiring content creators. So, join me as I get to know more about Ella and her journey!

Hua Wang: It's truly incredible to read what you have created. Your talent for creative writing is truly remarkable, and I am in awe of the stories you tell.

I am curious to know what themes you explore in your writing. What topics do you focus on, and how do you go about tackling them? Do you enjoy delving into themes that are grounded in reality, or do you prefer to explore more fantastical concepts? How do you approach these themes and make them come alive on the page?

Ella: A lot of the non-book themes are based on real-life situations, such as anxiety, depression, and low confidence. I explore them through many different ways my characters express themselves. I find them easier to talk about because they are loosely based on things I have experienced, so I want to share with others that it's okay to feel like this and that there are people around us who care about us and will always support us. I also like to explore more lighthearted and fantastical themes, like those that are seen in the books, like magical powers and abilities. I want to create a balance of fantastical and grounded themes to create an atmosphere that feels both realistic and fantasy at the same time.

Wang: It's really awesome to hear that you draw from your own experiences to create the characters in your work; not many people have the courage or the ability to do something like that. The way you explore topics through your characters is truly fascinating. You have a knack for bringing depth and life to them, and it's really impressive. I'm sure your readers appreciate the effort and thought you put into your work. It's also impressive to hear that you are striving to balance the thin line between reality and fantasy in your work. It can be a tricky endeavor, as the two can often become entangled and blended, but you manage to add all these remarkable elements of fantasy that really make it come alive.

Ella:Aww, thank you so much. That's so kind.

Wang: There is no need to thank me. You have a lot of talent. So, in response to one of the queries I get while writing new stories for my school, we can only imagine the difficulties you've had to overcome in order to bring your stories to life. So that takes us to the question or questions. What obstacles have you encountered while creating fanfiction? Is there anything in particular that has been particularly challenging to overcome? How did you keep motivated and inspired during the process? I'm sure your readers would love to hear about your experience and the most fulfilling aspect of creating fanfiction.

Ella: In the 2020 lockdown, I went through a really rough patch for my mental health. I felt really alone and down, and I felt like I had no one to talk to. So when I tried to portray some of these feelings in my writing, I was writing a particular rough chapter that included mentions and descriptions of SH and mental health. And it suddenly brought me back to that time in my life. I had to physically stop writing it for a week so I could process how I was feeling. I was really close to deleting the chapter because it was so impactful for me. But I knew if I deleted it, I wasn't going to do any favors because I wanted to show these themes to let people know they are not alone. So the feeling of shining light on these themes for people who are struggling kept me motivated, and now it's one of my favorite chapters because it is so raw and vulnerable, but knowing that there were people there that supported Y/N through it made it worth it.

Wang: I understand how difficult it can be to write about a difficult chapter in your life. Especially when it is something so personal and painful as self-harm. It is admirable that you are willing to open up and share your experience.

I understand how difficult it can be to talk about painful experiences, especially when it comes to self-harm. I have had my own struggles with it in the past, but I'm proud to say I have been clean for a long time now. It wasn't an easy journey, but I am grateful for the people who helped me along the way. Now, I can talk about it without being overwhelmed with pain.

Ella: That's great to hear! I'm glad you got through that and that it's okay to talk about it; it's admirable!

Wang: Thank you.

Wang: Getting back to the interview, that certainly got a bit sentimental! To lighten the mood, here's a funny Harry Potter-related joke: Why did the goblin cross the road? Because he was the Minister of Silly Walks!

Wow, that was horrible. Well, now we know why I'm not a comedian. Anyways, Writing characters is one of the most fun parts of writing fanfiction, don't you think? Out of all the characters you've created, which ones have been your favorites to write? What qualities make them special? Do you love their backstory, or perhaps the exciting adventures they go on? It's always fascinating to explore the lives of these beloved characters. Y/N Lupin is my absolute favorite character, and I could read about them all day. I love all four fanfics, but the one about the roller coaster-like love story of Fred Weasley and Y/N Lupin is definitely my favorite; it's so much fun.

Ella: A lot of the characters that weren't in the books are loosely named after my friends; some have different names, some have their own (depending on their preference). The character 'Katelyn," who has currently appeared in one chapter of the Y/N Lupin story, is completely based on one of my best friends, and there is still so much I'm going to explore with that character, including a love life! Another one of my favorites is the parents and grandparents of Y/n in 'More than Friends." They are based off my parents and my maternal grandparents' personalities to a T. It's always fun making characters based off people I know. I also love making Y/N in any book a fun but relatable character. They are all my favorites for many different reasons. Y/N Lupin shows my more emotional and vulnerable side. Y/N Lestrange shows my confident and insecure sides. And Y/N Bailey shows a side of me that is an absolute badass; I love the energy they give off, and my story lines bring out the best (and worst) of each character! Don't worry. There is more to come for the love lives of Fred Weasley and Y/N Lupin!

Wang: It is truly incredible how you take the people in your life and transform them into characters that we can all relate to and care about. It's a powerful testament to your creativity and imagination that you can take the people you know and turn them into something new and exciting. It's also a wonderful way to honor the people who have made an impact on your life. Through your stories, you are able to give them a lasting legacy and remind us of the importance of the people around us. The characters you create bring out the best in people and inspire us all to be better versions of ourselves. It is truly remarkable how you can take real-life people and craft them into memorable characters that we all love and cherish.

Ella:Aww, thank you.

Wang: Have you considered teaming up with other fanfic writers to bring your ideas to life?

Ella: No one has really reached out about it, and I would be open to it if their goals for writing are similar to mine. I don't want to go so far out of my writing style that the themes I make clear vanish within it.

Wang: We are almost at the end of this interview, and we have just three more questions to ask. One of them is related to your familiarity with the Wizarding World and other genres or fandoms. Are there any particular genres or fandoms you are more familiar with other than The Wizarding World?

Ella: Ooo, it's tricky because all the other fandoms left my head. I really do enjoy the Heartstopper fandom because it's so open and honest about those topics. So I've tried to bring some of those topics into my story. That's the only one I can think of right now.

Wang: I'm curious: how do you handle feedback on your work or criticism? It can be difficult to accept criticism, but it's important to remember that it can actually help you grow and improve. Do you strive to take feedback in a very modest, honest, and fun manner? How do you use it to your advantage?

Ella: Most of the time I use it as a learning opportunity, but there are many parts of my first fanfic that I would change. The readers give me ideas on what to avoid, so I will listen to them and see if it actually works. But I have had a couple of rude messages, and I don't let them affect me. But I've also kept my first fanfic exactly how it is; I'm not going to change anything in it to show that feedback can improve someone's writing, and I will make every recommendation happen in the way that they would like it to!

Wang: What advice would you give to a beginner fanfic writer?

As a seasoned fanfic author, I'm sure you have a lot of experience and wisdom to share. What tips and tricks do you have to offer those who are just starting out? What would be the most important things to keep in mind when it comes to writing fanfiction? What did you wish you had known when you first started writing?

Ella: There are a few things I wish I knew: 1. The name and cover of your book have to be appealing and interesting; if they're generic, fewer people will click to read them.

2. Make the description exciting—it draws more people in to see what things your characters get up to!

3. It's okay to take breaks. Burnout is a normal thing when writing; it's okay to stop and have a few weeks off. I haven't published anything in a while because the more you put it off, the worse burnout gets.

4. Don't expect to have the first chapter blow up; my books always took the first 3–4 chapters to be published before I saw reads that I was happy with. People normally come back to the book when there are more chapters left.

5. My favorite one: just be you—don't let one comment about your writing style stop you from writing or change the whole theme of your book! You should write something you are proud of, so make that one silly moment in your book, retell that story over and over again, and use the writing style you want! It's uniquely yours, so be proud of it.

It's always tough to start writing a fanfic, and there are so many reasons why. But remember to always stay true to yourself and make something you're proud of, because it's so much more rewarding that way!

About the Hogwarts Houses and the Doctor Strange Variants (META)

ABOUT THIS POST

Okay, now that I got some time, I'm going to tell WHY. (MY THEORY/META, feel free to disagree of course.). I'm not talking about What If Strange Supreme by the way! Just talking about what we saw in Doctor strange 2.

Supreme Strange is Hufflepuff

He was more powerful than the other Stephens apparently because of EFFORT, since "genetically" they are all the same, nowhere to run there.

He did everything he did knowing he would be killed by his "friends" in the end (I BET XAVIER WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO VOTED AGAINST HIS EXECUTION).

That Stephen seems the LEAST selfish and the LEAST arrogant one (Captain Marvel says our Stephen is more arrogant than theirs).

He was the Stephen who sacrificed himself the most- he tried spells and studied books that he knew that would demand high sacrifices of himself- however he didn't know that would cause incursions and when he found out, he decided to end his life and declare to the Iluminati he was the greatest threat.

That Stephen also taught that Christine about the relics and mystic artifacts, possibly he was more sociable and less arrogant indeed, also, more mature.

He did all he did to save the day, not because he wanted more power or knowledge- he also decided to end his life instead of starting a journey of rediscovery, he didn't give himself another chance, he didn't even consider what dangers his existence would imply- he just decided to end it there.

It wasn't Stephen's choice to raise a statue of himself, that was an idea of the Iluminati to honor him and to hide the truth from people- that they killed their own Stephen.

We know the definition of a Hufflepuff is a strong sense of justice, loyalty, patience, and a propensity for hard work, and those traits in Supreme Strange seem to surpass all the others. He wanted to solve all the Thanos problem by himself because he found the results he foresaw were unfair to the world and to his friends, so he decided to carry it all on his back.

He also seems to be the most "friendly and impartial" Stephen so far, since he seems to have a goof relationship with Christine to teach her about the relics and he also opened himself to the Darkhold without judging it for "an evil book"-it was naive of him but indeed, he got more power due to being impartial when seeking for knowledge- and he really didn't HAVE to die, but he decided it would be the best since he got SCARED he could cause more consequences without being aware, so he decided his life should end.

He founded the Iluminati, meaning he managed to unite all those heroes despite their differences.

Heyyy! Just letting yall know that I am opening up requests once more. If you have one please send it in (and feel free to tip on your request as well bc college is expensive!!)

I am open to doing anything, but I will need some sort of description if it is not something I am familiar with. And I shouldn't have to say this, but I will not be making boards for any relationships that happen between a minor and adult. That is illegal and highly problematic (remember that minors can't consent to anything with an adult!). Please also do not share my boards with hashtags of any relationships of that kind. Thank you!

Summary: Maleficent Jadis rejects her Death Eater family and goes by a Muggle-sounding nickname, M.J.

House: Ravenclaw

Blood Status: Pureblood

Wand: Wytch Elm, 11 inches, Thestral tail hair

Broom: Hates flying; prefers teleportation methods

Patronus: Crow

Specialties: Potions, Charms, Legilimancy, Occlumency, Numerology, magical drawing, teleportation, and her own spell: "Boh"

The Jadis-Wandson family was not pleased to see Maleficent break family tradition and go into Ravenclaw. Largely lacking in the rest of her family's Slytherin ambition, M.J. drifts wherever her curiosities take her. She's extremely observant and perceptive, even compared to the rest of the Ravenclaw class. She hides and reveals her deductions with her dry wit. She excels at Potions, Numerology and Charms, but failed Muggle Studies miserably. Though noble and brave when necessary, M.J. is no Gryffindor. She's terrified of heights and doesn't even like flying, instead preferring Appiration (which she illegally mastered before beginning her first year—with some push from that Slytherin family, no doubt). Her fighting style is pragmatic, and while she cares about social justice, she tends to lack Peter's idealism. Ravenclaws are known to think outside the box, and if MJ isn’t a Goth Luna Lovegood, then I don't know what she is. Wand:

MJ’s favorite tree is the Wytch Elm, because of the famous murder. Due to her fascination with death, the Thestral hair core is no surprise. She sure that every wand she tried at Ollivander's "malfunctioned" until she got one the Gothest-looking stick in the store. But Ollivander always admired the most eccentric wand owners, and pegged this kid as a fellow Ravenclaw long before M.J. even considered that she might not go straight into Slytherin. For the rest of her school career, M.J. thought of Ollivander as an inspiration, and took joy in perplexing and creeping out her fellow classmates and professors with her eccentricities just as the old wandmaker did with his customers. "A Fusion of Luna Lovegood and Moaning Myrtle, with a dose of Bellatrix LeStrange!"

...is how M.J.'s classmates, and occasionally professors, described her, when they thought she wasn't listening, and wouldn't take it as a compliment. M.J. disdained her mother's family, the blood-purist Jadis house; but she outright disowned her father's, the infamous Wandsons (murderous dark wizards from the States). The Wandson family was closely related to the Blacks, hence M.J. sharing traits with her Aunt Bellatrix, Uncle Sirius, and cousin Nymphadora Tonks. Since all of her good relatives were dead, she tended to hang out with ghosts more than the living, at least until becoming friends with Peter and Ned. She regularly surprised her classmates by literally appearing out of thin air. She usually popped up to make dry, quippy observations over a copy of the Quibbler. She frequently interrupted Filch's detentions to draw moving, talking pictures of wizards in crisis. By early second year, it was "kind of obvious" to MJ that Peter Parker was the Spider-Wizard. Shortly before this, she'd invented her first spell, at age twelve. That previous summer, M.J. had upset her family, by bluntly pointing out all of the reasons her cousin Delphi couldn't possibly be related to the Dark Lord. All of this, after brushing off her being dusted by Thanos and resurrected with a blasé pragmaticism. "Boh" It was during a class trip to Beauxbatons that M.J. casually showed Peter her new spell: "Boh." What does "Boh" do? It's a conjuring spell, that shoots any short-term need out of one's wand: fire, water, light, a forcefield, Bertie Bott's beans, you name it. The spell only lasts seconds, but it's a lifesaver in a pinch. "Boh" would go on to serve the group well when battling dark wizards like Mysterio. Obliviate! Even the most powerful Memory Charm, cast by the world's most powerful sorcerer, doesn't have 100% of a hold on M.J.'s mind. When a dweeb named Peter Parker enters the Leakey Cauldron and orders a butterbeer from her, M.J. knows instantly that she's seen him before, and there's something very significant about him. For some reason, she thinks of him whenever she casts "Boh."

AN: I really enjoyed cooking up this backstory for Hogwarts M.J. I'm not thrilled with how "No Way Home" ended, but it worked perfectly into this Potterverse AU.
