Avalon Assemble

The tension in the Avengers Tower common room was thicker than Thor's celebratory stew. Steve Rogers, ever the leader, shuffled a deck of cards. "Alright team, time for a different kind of mission. Tonight, we play Avalon."

Iron Man scoffed. "Avalon? You think chitauri diplomacy translates to a social deduction game?"

Black Widow smirked. "Let's see if Stark can tell the truth for five minutes straight, shall we?"

The game began. Steve, ever trusting, drew five cards, revealing himself as a loyal Servant of Arthur. Thor, predictably enthusiastic, slammed his fist on the table. "I too am a loyal servant! We shall crush the forces of Mordred!"

Bruce Banner, ever cautious, drew his cards with a grimace. "Uh, I'm not sure what I am..."

Suddenly, Loki, the resident trickster, cackled. "Excellent! A new pawn for my schemes!" He winked at Steve, clearly lying.

Steve, ever the optimist, beamed. "Don't worry, Loki. We'll see through any deceptions!"

The game devolved into glorious chaos. Black Widow, a proven strategist, played flawlessly, her stoic expression never betraying her role. Hawkeye, ever competitive, accused everyone (including Captain America) of being Mordred's minion.

The highlight came during a quest. Thor, chosen as leader, confidently picked Iron Man and Bruce as his companions. "Together, we shall vanquish the darkness!"

Iron Man grumbled. "Great. Just what I need, babysitting Banner."

"Wait!" Bruce interjected. "My card says I'm a Morgana supporter! I can't go!"

Thor's face fell. "But... but we need your science! And Stark's snarky commentary!"

"This is a disaster!" Captain America declared, trying to maintain order.

Loki, meanwhile, was rolling on the floor, tears streaming down his face. "Oh, the glorious dysfunction! This is better than any alien invasion!"

Somehow, through sheer luck and a surprising amount of teamwork (mostly to spite Loki), the good guys won the first round.

"See, Stark?" Steve grinned. "We can work together... even with a mischievous trickster in our midst."

Loki, still wiping away tears, bowed dramatically. "Oh, Captain Rogers, your faith is so touching. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a reputation for utter chaos to uphold!"

The Avengers, despite the near-meltdown, found themselves laughing. Maybe this social deduction game wasn't so bad after all. It was certainly more entertaining than facing Thanos, even if the stakes were much lower. As the game continued, accusations flew, alliances shifted, and Loki continued to revel in the glorious mess he'd helped create. In the end, it wasn't about winning or losing, it was about the hilarious journey of earth's mightiest heroes trying to decipher truth from lies... with a healthy dose of friendly bickering, of course.

“I didn’t see a TV here. I have every channel and streaming service available and F.R.I.D.A.Y. to track down anything unavailable. What do you do all day?”

Loki had a big smile again, “Think of ways to irritate you. It’s been immensely entertaining.”

Summary:

Tony’s retirement was supposed to be quiet. He got married, moved out to the lakehouse, and rescued some alpacas. It was a little boring, but it was fine, really.

He did not expect his neighbor to turn out to be a familiar mischievous enemy-turned-ally who was nursing injuries from the Battle of Wakanda. He also did not expect to end up embroiled in a real life Game of Thrones with death on the line for both him and Loki.

Retired or not, Tony was still Iron Man. It was game on.

“So, what are your plans for this evening?”

Bruce’s question had caught you off guard. Zoning out a while ago, you were only brought back to the reality of the Avengers conference room once you felt everyone’s gaze upon you. The meeting hadn’t started yet, and apparently the conversation had shifted to the subject of your birthday during the wait, much to your own chagrin.

“Climbing a mountain? Wrangling a wild lion? Threesome? Stop me when I’m getting warm,” Tony offered without looking up from his cell phone; even while not paying attention, he still needed to make the most entertaining guess possible.

Clint laughed as he twirled a pen between his fingers. “Angling for an invite?”

“Well, surely she’ll be reflecting on her triumphs and accomplishments over the past year. Isn’t that what mortals do on their birthdays?” Thor mumbled through a mouthful of several donuts. His question was a genuine one, and so was his smile; and he meant no harm, but it still made you shift uncomfortably in your seat.

“Only if Lady Gaga is the third,” Tony replied to Clint with a smirk. The conversation was already spiraling wildly out of control, and your throat was starting to dry up.

“Leave her be,” Natasha interrupted, sensing your discomfort from across the table. “You guys aren’t cool enough to hear about her birthday plans anyway…”

As you brought the coffee cup to your lips, Natasha shot you a wink, and you were grateful for the save. Truthfully, you hated your birthday and therefore had nothing on the agenda…other than your definitely exciting plans of catching some much-needed shut-eye and trying not to think too much about anything.

“Whatever her plans are, she’s definitely earned it. And we all wish you the happiest of birthdays,” Steve smiled reassuringly before clearing his throat to begin the meeting.

As he went on and on about intel reports and reminders about the importance of collateral damage mitigation, one pair of eyes continued to linger on you - soft, thoughtful, curious. He hadn’t said much during the previous conversation, but then again, he never did.

Instead, Loki preferred to study and listen, to learn whatever he could in the silence of everything left unsaid. And once the meeting finally adjourned, you silently retreated to your private quarters, eager for the silence where no one would expect you to say anything.

The evening snow had cocooned the city in a blanket of chilled warmth, cozy and elegant and quiet. There were no sirens and emergencies that night; it was so cold outside that even villains and criminals couldn’t be bothered to stir up trouble.

Snuggled up tight in your bed inside Stark Tower with your phone on silent mode, you drifted in and out of consciousness - thinking about everything that had passed you by, dreaming about what you’d never be able to accomplish. You had made it to the Avengers Team, an impressive feat to be sure, but how long would that last?

Would you ever feel like you’d made it in a building surrounded by Gods and geniuses, miracles and champions? Would you ever find love? Did Avengers ever get a happy ending? Probably not…

The knuckles of a careful hand tapped on your door, rousing you from your thoughts. It was late - almost midnight, minutes away from not having to think about your birthday for another year.

Begrudgingly, you extracted yourself from the warm blankets and trudged to the door of your private quarters. The air was frigid and sharp, and you shivered as you brushed the hair out of your eyes and looked through the peephole.

Loki waited on the other side of the door, standing tall and regal, yet casual and sincere, all at the same time. And despite the late hour, or maybe even because of it, he looked even more beautiful than usual.

You had no idea why he was here; you hadn’t spent much time with him outside the confines of missions, but you always wished that was different. When he did speak up, he was clever and funny, and he seemed to be at least somewhat amused by you too. But he preferred seclusion, and so did you.

Swallowing hard, you scrambled to smooth out your wrinkled pajamas and comb your fingers through your messy hair, trying to appear at least somewhat put together as you pulled open the door.

“Apologies for the late intrusion, but…could I have a moment of your time?” he greeted, smiling an infuriating combination of charm and consideration.

You nodded and tried to ignore the butterflies in your belly as you stepped aside to let him in. “Yeah, of course. Sorry, I just got back from the, um…”

Loki followed you inside, his hands placed casually in his pockets as he looked curiously around your room. But his gaze returned to you as your voice trailed off, waiting patiently for you to continue.

“From the, um…place with the…” you trailed off again, trying to come up with an interesting thing you had done that night. Loki arched an eyebrow and an amused smile crept across his face as he watched you try to come up with a believable lie.

Sighing heavily and resigning to admit the truth, you collapsed down on the couch. “I didn’t go anywhere tonight. I really hate my birthday.”

Loki chuckled and sat down carefully next to you. “Yes, I’d gathered as much. It seems like birthdays are a mixed bag for humans…”

“Yeah, they really are…” you replied quietly, staring at your fingers as they pressed and fidgeted with one another. “Is it the same way with Asgardian birthdays?”

Loki shifted on the couch to lean back and cross his legs. “Well, we don’t really have a concept of birthdays where I’m from. After the first thousand or so, I’d imagine that they’d probably become incredibly…tedious,” he answered thoughtfully.

“Yeah, that makes sense…”

Silence descended upon you both, and you realized it was the first time you’d ever been alone with him. He smelled like an ancient forest and the spices of a distant land. It was comforting, and suddenly you couldn’t remember why you’d never invited him over before.

“So what is it about your special day that’s left you so melancholy?”

You laughed and shook your head as you leaned back too, staring up at the ceiling overhead. “You’re the God of Lies, and from what I’ve gathered, a quick study on humanity. So why don’t you tell me?”

“Well, from my thorough interrogations of other humans…” Loki smiled teasingly before letting out a deep breath. “I’d wager it has to do with the passage of time. The reminder of your own mortality. The pressures that society places on you to have the best day ever. When in reality, it’s just…another day one needs to make it through.”

You turned to look at him, and he met your gaze. His green eyes were beautiful, sparkling even in the low light of your quarters. “Mmm. You really are a quick study…”

“Well, I do what I can…” Loki hummed in response. His lips parted as if he wanted to say something else, and your breath hitched; but instead, he turned his head to look out the window.

Returning your attention to your hands, you tried not to think about what he was going to say, or what it meant that he was here. That you were alone together. That he was…trying to comfort you, in his own way.

“It’s a pity to waste all that…” he murmured absentmindedly as he pulled the curtains aside.

The snow was starting to pile up outside, and the sky was filled with fluttering sheets of crisp white, effortlessly dimming the lights of the city and making you feel like you two were the only ones left in the world. “Shall we go and have what you humans call a snowball fight?”

You laughed incredulously. “The God of Mischief wants to spend the last few minutes of my birthday having a snowball fight?”

Loki turned back to you with a playful grin on his face. It was intoxicating and delightful. “Why not? You seem like you could use a distraction. And what is mischief if not a distraction?”

You couldn’t help but smile, the biggest one you’d had all day. Loki returned your smile in earnest as he stood up, ready to go. He held his hand out for you to take it, and you couldn’t believe the blessing he was offering.

“Okay - but no magic. I am just a weak mortal, and it is still technically my birthday…” you teased, accepting his helping hand.

Loki laughed with a warm smile. “Agreed, I won’t use any magic. Wouldn’t want to humiliate you on your birthday, now would I?”

You really didn’t care whether you won or lost the upcoming fight. All that mattered was that you had a distraction - and Loki was the perfect one.

You had been living in the Avengers tower for several months now. Your parents weren’t the best role models in your life, so when you decided to move to New York and started looking for your own place, your uncle Tony offered for you to stay in the tower.

You had gotten along with everyone, quickly establishing friendships with everyone. You even managed to befriend Loki, as he was staying at the tower since he was forced to help the Avengers to repay for his crimes.

You always seemed to wear a smile on your face, despite the never-ending college assignments your professors seemed to give you.

You and Loki had been getting closer the past few months, and you were one of the only people he would enjoy talking to in the tower. Sure, he enjoyed pestering the others, but he didn’t mind having a simple conversation with you.

Despite your appearance as an open-book, Loki noticed that there was more to you than it seemed.

He noticed how you would sometimes overwork yourself as a distraction from reality. He picked up on the way you seemed to deflect certain questions, and the way you managed to change the subject of a conversation.

Of course, he didn’t just notice the bad. He noticed the good things too. He noticed the days when you decided to do something with your appearance, whether it be fixing your hair or doing your makeup.

Not that you needed any of this to be beautiful, he knew that. You just appreciated that someone noticed when you did these things, and it made you giddy whenever Loki would compliment your eyeliner or hairstyle.

Just the little compliments and gestures of kindness Loki would give you made you fall head over heels for him. Of course, you doubted he would feel the same.

You weren’t very experienced with romantic feelings, so you hoped they would eventually go away. However, as the days passed by, your feelings built up and became more complex.

Loki also seemed to develop some feelings that were unfamiliar to him. At first, he mistook it as friendly love, as he had not had many true friends before, but he began to realize that it wasn’t just friendship sprawling in his heart.

Unfortunately, you struggled at expressing your feelings. You weren’t used to a lot of affection. In fact, when you first moved to the tower, it took a while to get used to people checking in on you.

Due to this, Loki wasn’t sure how you felt about him. He was happy just to have you as a friend, but inside he longed for something more. Something more than the friendship you already shared.

“Stark, have you seen Y/n?” Loki asked, walking through the living room. He had looked in your room, but you weren’t there. He wanted to return a book you had lended him.

Tony scratched his head before answering. “Uh, no. I do remember she said something about studying though… Maybe check the library?” Loki nodded in thanks and started towards the library.

“Y/n? Are you in here?” Loki called, walking towards the middle of the library where you two would often lounge on the couches, reading with each other for hours.

He smiled as he found you lying fast asleep on one of the couches, strands of hair resting on your face and a book pages-up on your chest.

Loki brushed some of the loose strands of hair behind your ear, enjoying the way you looked when you slept. You found it embarrassing, but he couldn’t help but think it was cute.

Conjuring up a bookmark, Loki grabbed the book and marked your page before closing it.

His eyes skimmed over the cover, and then he went back and reread it, breath hitching.

Norse Mythology

You hadn’t told him you had been reading up on Norse mythology, and Loki decided to flip through some of the pages.

He smiled at the illustrations of Asgard and the rainbow bridge leading up to it. He flipped through some more, sitting down on a nearby couch and losing himself in the pages. But don’t worry, he made sure to keep the bookmark marking your spot in place.

After who knows how long, you stirred to the sounds of pages flipping. Your eyes slowly fluttered open and you looked around, realizing you were in the library.

You gradually sat up, realizing Loki was across from you. He looked up from his book, smiling as you rubbed your eyes.

“Welcome back to the land of the living, darling.” He said, and you blushed slightly with a chuckle.

“What time is it?” You asked, not sure how long you had been asleep for. “It’s eight in the evening.” Loki responded, and your eyes widened slightly.

“Damn…” You muttered, surprised. “I slept for 4 hours.” Loki nodded, flipping a page. The sounds of his book made you remember your own, patting around the couch for the book.

You looked around, confused when you couldn’t find it. You could have sworn that the last thing you were doing was reading your book on Norse mythology.

Loki smirked as he watched you look around, and you finally caught his eye, glancing down as he showed you the cover of the book he was reading. “Looking for something?” He asked, holding up your book.

Heat rushed to your face as you quickly stood up, running over to him. “Give it back!” You whined, but Loki stood up and held the book above your head, leaving you trying to jump and grab it.

“Come on Loki…” You pleaded, but Loki still held the book, smiling down at you. “You didn’t tell me you were studying Norse Mythology, love.”

You sighed, knowing it was no use to try to reach the book, and flopped down on the couch. Loki finally handed your book back to you and sat next to you, and you were happy to see that your page was marked.

“What class is this for?” He asked, and your face turned red, yet again. “Uhm… History. We had an, erm... Religion paper.” You lied, and Loki raised his eyebrow.

“While it is amusing to watch you try to lie to me, I would like to know the truth.” You hugged your knees to your chest and buried your face in them, trying to get out of the situation.

Loki gently pulled your head back, moving your gaze to his. “Darling?” He asked, and you huffed, giving up. “It wasn’t for school.” You admitted, embarrassed.

His face lit up, and he tilted his head. “That means that-” He started, but you interrupted him. “Yes, I read it on my own, okay? I just wanted to know more about you.”

You averted his gaze, and he chuckled. You began to worry that he was going to make fun of you, but you were wrong. “Well dear, you could have just asked.” He said, and you once again met his gaze.

“I didn’t want you to make fun of me.” You confessed, fumbling with one of the buttons of your shirt. Loki chuckled again, grabbing one of your hands and taking it in his. “Darling, I would never make fun of you.”

You felt the sincerity of his words, and gave him a soft smile. “Really?” You asked, and he nodded. “Really.”

You and Loki sat there for a minute, hand in hand, basking in the silence. Your breath picked up as he brushed a strand of hair and tucked it behind your ear, causing your face to flush.

Loki noticed, chuckling. “My my, it really doesn’t take much for you to get all worked up, does it dear?” You grabbed a pillow from the couch and slapped him with it. “Oh, shut up!” You said, laughing as he fell back onto the couch from the pillow slap.

You continued assaulting him with the pillow, eventually ending up on top of him as the pillow fell to the floor, leaving you two face-to-face in a rather intimate position.

Your heart had nearly exploded, realizing that your lips were mere inches away from Loki’s.

Loki’s heart rate also sped up, watching you as you bit your lip and your cheeks became that familiar shade of pink.

Without thinking, he pulled your head down and kissed you softly on the lips, and then pressed his forehead against yours.

Your eyes widened after the kiss, and Loki quickly pulled away with a worried look on his face. He was about to say something, but then you pulled your head back down, colliding once more with Loki’s lips.

This kiss was more heated, proving how long both of you had waited for this moment. His tongue found yours, enwrapping it. Eventually you had to force yourself to come up for air, mesmerized in the moment.

“Wow.” You breathed, processing what just happened. Loki caught his own breath, relieved that you hadn’t stormed out of the room yet.

“Wow indeed.” He chuckled, sporting a blush of his own.

“I was not expecting that.” You said, shaking your head, still finding it hard to believe. Loki shrugged. “I have a tendency to be sporadic.” You laughed at his comment, letting your body rest on his.

“What does this mean?” You asked, head leaning on his chest. Loki smiled, stroking your hair with his hand. “It means, darling, that next time you want to learn more about me, you can come straight to me.”

You buried your face into his chest, causing him to laugh. “Don’t be embarrassed, I find it adorable that you want to learn more about me.”

You brought your head up, remembering something you had read in the book. “Well, I do have one question.”

Loki nodded for you to continue, and you hesitated before asking him. “Is it really true that you birthed a horse?” You asked, causing him to laugh.

“No. That was an illusion, which made for an excellent prank. Especially if it made it into your Midguardian books.” He said, and you laughed.

“What did Thor say?” You asked, finding it hard to imagine Thor seeing Loki give birth to a horse.

“Oh, he didn’t say anything. He screamed and then went to get Mother.” Loki said, smiling, still playing with your hair.

“Yeah. He would do that, wouldn’t he?” You chuckled, and Loki nodded. “It was hilarious. Frandal made fun of him for screaming so loud for a whole month after. Rumor has it the entire realm could hear.”

You snorted, not even beginning to imagine the ears that must have broken from Thor’s scream. After all, he was the god of thunder.

“Now, how about we get you some dinner?” You nodded, recognizing that you were hungry, and Loki picked you up bridal-style, carrying you to the elevator.

“Loki, put me down!” You squealed, grabbing ahold of his neck. He continued to carry you, pressing the button of the elevator to call it down.

“We can’t let the princess tire herself from walking when her prince can carry her instead now dear, can we?” You blushed and playfully slapped him on the arm.

The elevator dinged, and the doors opened, revealing one very surprised-and-pissed-looking Tony Stark, glaring at you and Loki.

“What the fu-”

MASTERLIST OF THE STORY

Chapter 57: Endgame.

“Alright, it's time. Bring them back.” Steve told Bruce. It had been two minutes and a half since they killed Loki and Y/N and they were getting impatient.

Bruce nodded and signaled for Natasha to grab the defibrillator to shock Y/N as he prepared himself to shock Loki.

“Alright, on three Nat.” He said and the redhead nodded and looked at her friends limp body, frowning in concentration. “One, two, three!”

Suddenly, a gasping Y/N and Loki jumped quickly into a sitting position.

“Are you guys okay?!” Bruce asked them both, frantic, as he was trying to check both their vitals at the same time.

They both looked at each other and nodded.

“We are okay.” She told him, calming her breathing.

That's when she felt something materializing in her hand. She looked down and found the dagger of death, with some runes carved into it that weren't there before.

“You got it.” Loki told her.

“I did.” She laughed incredulously. Then she remembered how she got it and frowned unnoticed by the team, except for Loki, who noticed it and looked at her with question in his eyes. A second later, she sobered up. “Alright guys, the whole dying thing has me quite tired. Could we go to get some rest?”

“Y-yeah.” Steve answered her. “Of course.”

“Are you sure you're okay?” Natasha asked her again, unsure.

“Yeah, I'm fine. Just really tired.”

“Alright, go rest guys. We will take care of the dagger.”

They both nodded and got up from the beds to head to their room.

“Y/N,” Loki began as soon as she closed the door to their shared quarters.

“Yeah?” She wasn't looking at him and that's what made him sure that something was wrong.

“What was her condition?” He asked knowingly.

Y/N took in a sharp breath.

“Sigyn's soul.” He lifted his chin and nodded.

She went to the end of the bed and sat down, looking at the floor.

“Am I a terrible person Loki?”

“You are not, my love.”

“But I… I agreed because in a way I want her to suffer. How can you justify that?”

“Y/N,” he grabbed her hand, “she killed your family. She then proceeded to lie to you and infiltrate this new family that you found with the intention of killing you and eventually ruling over the universe with a position that is yours to have.” She chuckled breathily.

“When you put it like that…”

“Y/N…”

“It just hurts, you know? When I stop to think about it, it hurts. And I don't want to hurt her, not really, past my rage, I'm just hurt… But I… I need to hurt her to end this.”

“I know, darling. I know.” He said as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her into his chest. “You are the last person who should go through this.”

“Yet here we are.”

“Here we are.” He agreed.

“I love you Loki. And I'm really scared.”

“I love you too.” He told her and then breathed in deeply. “And everything will be alright. I promise you.”

“Y/N, wake up!”

“Loki? What-” She was cut off by a loud explosion echoing a few floors down.

“She's here.” She widened her eyes.

“F.R.I.D.A.Y where is the team?”

“The garden miss.”

She got up from the bed and began running with him towards the rest of the team.

When they both reached them she saw the scene that was unfolding with a knot in her stomach. Sigyn was there with her whole army of enhanced soldiers, smiling wickedly as she looked at Y/N.

“Steve! The dagger!” She told him.

Captain America looked at her and shook his head.

“What?” She whispered.

“You mean this dagger?” Sigyn's voice answered for him. She looked at her and found the dagger in her hands. “You were really going to kill me, little sister? That is harsh.”

Y/N clenched her teeth and put herself in a defensive stance, prepared for a fight. The goddess laughed loudly.

“You really think you stand a chance without this?”

“I guess we'll have to find out.”

“Very well, whatever you wish.” She signaled for her army to prepare themselves and soon enough, the garden was a battlefield.

“We can't win this fight! We need a plan, Cap.” Clint said in his earpiece.

“I'm thinking!” He responded as he was trying to catch his breath in between throwing his shield around and knocking out a few of them, only for them to get back up again.

“This is like fighting an army of Y/Ns and Wandas, how the hell are we going to do this?” Sam asked, worried.

Meanwhile, Y/N was looking at Sigyn, flying over them and smiling maliciously, knowing that she was winning.

“The mind flayer.” Y/N whispered with wide eyes.

“What?” Clint asked.

“They all have…” She grunted.

“Y/N!” Steve shouted. “Y/N!”

“I'm… fine.” She said as she got up from the floor after getting hit as Loki helped her. “They all have a part of her power. It's like a hive mind. We need to kill the mind that has control.”

“How are we gonna do that when she has the only weapon that can kill her?”

“Make sure you're distracting her army… and let me handle her.”

“Y/N, no!”

“Please Tony, this is my fight.”

“No, it's ours.” He told her. “Go, we'll keep them occupied.”

She smiled softly.

“Darling,” she looked at him expecting resistance but was met with a soft look. “Be careful. I love you.”

“I will. I love you too.”

And just like that, she was flying over every one of them, heading towards her sister.

“I thought you were smarter than this.”

“Yeah well, you overestimated me.” Sigyn smirked. Then she prepared her hands for combat and Y/N did the same.

Blasting her magic towards the goddess, she grunted when she missed and was in return hit with Sigyns magic.

“You stand no chance against me.”

“You keep saying that.” She blasted her magic and this time she didn't miss. Sigyn almost fell to the floor. “Are you trying to convince yourself?”

“Ha!” She laughed. “I know you are trying to distract me. You are not good at this, Y/N.”

“Oh, but I am.” She told her as she disappeared into thin air and appeared behind her, kicking her back and making her fall to the floor this time.

“An illusion? That is cheap, even for you.”

“You've always been a sore loser.” Y/N shook her head and landed on her feet gracefully.

Sigyn got up and faced her, but couldn't stand for much longer as another blast of magic hit her. And another, and another.

When she managed to get up, she strutted towards Y/N with an expression so livid it made her question what person she had let into her life for these past two years.

Sigyn kicked her in the ribs and she fell on her back, wheezing. When she approached her again, Y/N kicked the back of her legs and made her fall on her back.

For a bit, they kept throwing punches and blasting magic at the other.

“Alright, time to distract her.” She said into her earpiece.

“On it.” Sam said and began shooting at her from the sky.

“These mindless mortals!” Sigyn groaned, more annoyed than anything else.

Perfect, Y/N thought.

“Sam, keep her occupied, I need to get the dagger.” She looked at Loki. “Loki, love, could I borrow your favorite dagger?”

“I- yes, darling.” He said, narrowing his eyes at her, confused.

“Thanks.” She said and then she closed her eyes and concentrated on conjuring the dagger she had given Loki a few years back, when they had not confessed their love yet.

Meanwhile, Sigyn was trying to blast Sam with her magic and he was dodging her attempts. Until he wasn't anymore.

“Sam!” Y/N yelled as her friend fell from the sky. “Someone get him!” She cried.

“Another one on the list of dead loved ones?”

Y/N clenched her teeth and looked at her. That's when she heard Wanda speak on the earpiece.

“He's okay, just hurt.” Relieve flooded her in waves and she looked at Sigyn with so much rage she could've killed her right then and there.

“You are not going to win this Sigyn.”

“Oh, but I already have.” She said, gesturing around her, at the avengers fighting and getting more tired by the second.

Y/N looked at them, they wouldn't be able to hold on for much longer. She closed her eyes and concentrated in summoning her magic. Then she opened them and looked at her sister.

“I swear to you, you are going to regret this.” She said strutting towards her with a set jaw.

Y/N hit her again and again, while Sigyn did the same. The ones around them couldn't tell who was winning, which worried them. Sigyn, on the other hand, was sure that she was.

“Keep hitting me all you want, you know that it won't kill me. I on the other hand-” Y/N hit her on her stomach. “I can kill you.”

“I dare you to try.”

“Oh, I will.” Sigyn pulled out the dagger and began throwing jabs at Y/N. She dodged most of them, except for a few scratches here and there.

Y/N kicked the goddess onto the floor and the dagger went flying in the air, falling a few meters away.

Rolling on the ground and grunting, they were both trying to fight off the other and grab the knife.

Suddenly, an explosion rang out behind her, where everyone else was, and she turned briefly, ignoring the screams from her teammates. Then, everything turned into a slow motion movie. Screams could be heard, but only as echoes.

“Look down, sister.” Sigyn's voice sounded distant but she did as told.

“Y/N!” Loki's voice rang out as she found the dagger dunked in her stomach. “Y/N!” He kept screaming, trying to get to her, but the soldiers wouldn't let him.

She turned around slowly and looked at him. At her love, her everything. She looked around, the broken and tired faces of her family, the reason she was alive. Her life flashed before her eyes, every moment that led her to where she was now. She then looked up and begged for a miracle to happen. Turning to him, she whispered:

“I love you, Loki. Forever.” And then she fell to the ground, limp.

“No!” He wailed, his voice shattered.

“I told you she did not stand a chance against me.” Sigyn said, standing up.

“I'm going to kill you.” Natasha said, full of rage and grief.

“Ha!” The goddess laughed. “I don't think any of you understand what just happened. Y/N was your only chance, and she's dead. So now, kneel before your new queen!”

When no one did as told, still standing and prepared for a fight, she groaned and looked up at the sky in annoyance.

“I said, kn-” She choked on her own words as blood began pouring out of her mouth. She looked down to see a red stain on her stomach, growing bigger by the second.

“I told you… I'd win.” Y/N told her between small gasps as Sigyn fell to the floor.

“How did you…” She tried to ask.

“I switched the daggers. You stabbed me with Loki's dagger and I… stabbed you with the dagger of death.” Sigyn began coughing. “I want you to know…” She looked at the goddess, her sister, the one she had spent every day with ever since she appeared on the compound claiming that she was not who she thought she was. In many ways, Sigyn changed her for the better, in other many, many ways, she did not. She looked at her sister and remembered every night spent reading together, singing silly songs, watching scary movies just to see her terrified face when a jumpscare happened. She looked at her sister and couldnt find it in herself to care. So her next words, she said them very slowly. “I want you to know… that this is for my family.” And she stabbed her again, in her heart.

“I-Im sorry.” Sigyn said slowly, in a hushed whisper, as she was dying.

“I don't forgive you.”

And after coughing a few times, her body laid limp on the grass. When it did, the soldiers began slowly falling too. Then, Y/N's vision began to blur, the adrenaline wearing out and her wound beginning to cause its effects.

Before she fell to the ground, someone caught her.

The real reason Tony wanted to do this movie, the one that he'll never tell anyone about, was because when he’d asked his agent who would be playing Chris, she’d slyly smiled at him and told him that it was Steve Rogers.

“Oh,” he’d squeaked, cleared his throat, and tried again in a more normal octave, but by then it was too late. Natasha had laughed at him and made the call without even waiting for him to agree to the audition.

He’s not quite sure if he should thank her or fire her for that.

Talk it Out (Steve Rogers x Gender Neutral Reader)

This is inspired by the Tony vs. Steve debates arising when Civil War premiered. I believe both were at fault—but what if there was a voice of reason who diffused the situation?

Summary: Being related to the genius Tony Stark had many benefits, but being stuck in an argument between him and your fiance, Steve Rogers, was never anticipated.

Being a Stark had its fair share of perks: a hefty bank account, influential power, looks that turn heads. But what the public was unaware of was the messy family drama, courtesy of Howard Stark. Despite the world applauding him as a genius inventor, at home, he was anything but wonderful. Work seemed to be his one true love, leaving little room for the whole parenting gig. Affection and care for his kids, especially name, were as rare as a unicorn. And when the Stark siblings were paid attention, it was mostly due to the public image Howard wanted to construct as a loving father.

So, when Tony decided to start flying around New York as Iron Man, name wanted nothing to do with it. Don't get them wrong, they loved their brother, but staying out of the limelight gave name the peace they longed for since childhood. No image they had to uphold nor expectations they needed to live up to, name was content spending their remaining days working on the numerous charities and foundations Stark Industries supported. Name wasn't interested in the media at all, but they guessed being related to Tony Stark and dating fellow Avenger, Captain America aka Steve Rogers would throw that plan out the window.

Their relationship with the Captain had been a surprise to all; meant to be kept a secret from the public, with only the Avengers and Tony (obviously) knowing. However, when a picture leaked of them holding hands, the world went crazy. With everyone, even news channels, speculating the nature of their relationship, it was name who ultimately decided to clear up rumors. Yes, they were dating Captain America, and what about it? The world had bigger problems than worrying about stranger's love affairs. So, even if the public knew about their romance, name withheld that they were also engaged.

But as name said, the world had bigger problems. And indeed they had. After a failed attempt by Loki to take over the world, alongside Ultron's failed destruction of said world, their plate was full. It didn't need unnecessary drama thrown into it: like Steve and Tony bickering due to the recently written Sokovia Accords.

"You're being irrational!"

"Sue me Rogers for wanting to protect the world."

Rolling their eyes, name didn't understand how a friendship like Steve and Tony's was being destroyed over something as stupid as the Accords. If they were being honest, both men were acting like children.

"Can't you guys just talk it out?" Name spoke, sitting up from their seat to glare at their brother and fiance. "I know Tony's a drama queen—"

"Hey!"

"But I expect better from you, Steve. Now, I'm going out with Pepper for lunch. When I return, you better have resolved this or else." Kissing both men's cheeks, name left the room. Looking at each other, Tony and Steve thought the same thing.

'Name is scary when they want to be.'

Favourite MCU Fic Recs

I'm not nearly as much as an MCU expert as I am a Buffy expert, but here are my favorite MCU fics!

Gen Fics

All The Leaves Are Brown (And the sky is gray) by AvocadoLove - the Winter Soldier kills Howard and Maria Stark... And then raises their young son. This is absolutely incredible, and Bucky & Tony's father / son relationship is so bittersweet.

built from scraps by robinbuckley - Tony Stark snaps. Peter Parker (and MJ!) does not. This fic is absolutely incredible! Pepper, Morgan & Peter's family relationship is amazing, and their grief over Tony, May, and all their friends is wonderful. MJ and Peter's romance, and his friendships with Harley Keener and Nat are great. Oh, and Tony turns out to be Peter's bio dad. READ THIS.

Things I Almost Remember by IcedAquarius - probably the most interesting Tony is Peter's bio dad fic, purely because Tony doesn't know. More angsty than most fic I read - and be warned: it hasn't been updated in a while. Ned, MJ, and Helen Cho are standouts!

The Second Hand Unwinds by The Party Prince - Mobius gives Loki the chance to go anywhere. He visits his brother post Infinity War. A short one shot, and so sad and wonderful.

Love is Pain (Well, Darling, Let's Hurt Tonight) by OverlyObsessed223 - a crossover with the X-Men movies, where X-Men Peter and MCU Wanda can feel each other's pain. A bittersweet look at sibling relationships. Slightly more X-Men focused.

RECOIL by VulpeculaAnser - a season 1 rewrite of Agents of Shield, focusing heavily on Daisy and the trauma that would ensue if she got her powers earlier. Focuses on the found family relationship of the team. Tragically unfinished.

Cool Meta and Multimedia Fics

20 Celebrities Who Could Totally Be Daredevil by RosaLui - formatted like a buzzfeed article. Short, meta, and hilarious!

Steve Rogers at 100: Celebrating Captain America on Film by many - a hilarious historical archive of Captain America movies. Absolutely loved all the historical references. Minor Steve/Bucky.

Best Stucky Fics

What I'm Looking For by TessaBennet - a long, sprawling series of stories that rewrites all of the MCU with a Stucky focus. If you have to read one fanfic on this list, this is the one for you. It fixes canon in so many ways, and completely changed the ways I view many characters for the better (especially Natasha, Sam, and Wanda). The second fic, focusing on WW2, and the 6th (on the events up to/Civil War) are by far the best, but every fic in this series is incredible. Seriously. Read it.

Don't Ask by AnnaFugazzi -a WW2 Steve and Bucky have a secret relationship, and are found out. Realistic and HEARTBREAKING consequences ensue. Ends on a bittersweet note, and is amazing. Be warned - the sequels get much darker and deal with non/con. Personally, I stop reading here.

A Long Winter by dropdeaddream and WhatAreFears - A Stucky fic looking at what would happen if Steve didn't go into the ice, but Bucky was still the Winter Soldier. Steve and Peggy's relationship, and the Howlies, are written so well.

despite the threatening sky and shuddering earth (they remained) by praximeter - The Winter Soldier's mask doesn't come off - a slow burn that delves into the torture Bucky endured and the slow realization about who he is on Steve's part. Very dark.

Never Like This by RobinWood - another slowburn Winter Soldier identity reveal fic. This one in particular writes the whole avengers team so well, especially Tony and his reaction to his parents dying.

Time Travel and Other Fic-It Fics

the reactions of a dead man by agloeian - it's down to Loki to arrange things to stop Thanos. Some really funny bits, and a good look at the limits of what can be changed with time travel. The Loki & Strange relationship is great.

god loves everybody, don't remind me by napricot - Erik Killmonger gets stuck in a time loop. He learns the meaning of family along the way. The author writes Erik so well!

Bringing Him Home by sancuary_for_all - A post No-Way-Home fix it. Ned and MJ have gaps in their memory. Eventually, they piece things together. Really sweet Peter/MJ relationship.

If I Could Start Again by Taarko - at the end of Infinity War, Thor is sent back in time. The amount of lore in this fic is incredible! And the characterization of Thor, Loki, and Valkyrie is great! Very Asgard focused and goes deep into their history.

Relationships: Valkyrie/Loki, Betty Ross/Bruce Banner.

Fics With OCs (That Are Actually Good)

The Wyvern by emmamagnetised - Tony has a younger sister, who is in the car with their parents and is taken by Hydra. The trial of the Wyvern arc is wonderful and sold me on this. It's loooong, be warned. A Bucky Barnes/OC fic.

The Siren by emmamagnetised - a WW2 story about a spy for the Allies in Nazi Germany - who is a childhood friend of Steve and Bucky. Cute relationship between her and Steve.
